Had an amazing time here! The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming, making the entire experience feel warm and comfortable . Everyone was really friendly , I don't know all their names.. The meals were absolutely delicious, with a great variety to choose from every day. One of the highlights was the Spice Garden tour , our guide Prachi was knowledgeable and made it a truly memorable experience. Whether you're looking to unwind or craving some adventure, this place is a perfect getaway. Highly recommended!

I didn't stay there. We went for a day outing to see the Spices at the farm. It's a generation old forest, full off native Indian and some other spices. They serve a welcome drink and then give you a tour with all the information and history you need ! It's great. The food they serve is healthy and freshly made, must have that too after your tour. And they also have a souvenir shop where you can buy all the spices and different amazing products made out of them.

Tanshikar Spice Farm, Goa Tanshikar Spice Farm is a truly delightful place to stay. The eco-friendly hut set right in the heart of the jungle offers a peaceful and immersive nature experience. The food was excellent — fresh, flavourful, and prepared with spices grown on the farm. Birding around the property was wonderful, with many species visible throughout the day. The night safari with owner of property Chinmay Tanshikar and Sahil the naturalist there ,was the highlight of our trip — we spotted a Slender Loris and five species of snakes, making it an unforgettable wildlife experience. A perfect destination for nature lovers looking for tranquillity, good food, and a touch of adventure.

We had an amazing stay at Tanshikar Spice Farm, Goa! 🌿 The place is a perfect mix of nature, learning, and relaxation. The organic food was absolutely delicious and fresh from the farm. We really enjoyed the trek and jungle safari – spotted some animals and got to experience the raw beauty of nature. What stood out most was the opportunity to learn about organic farming and sustainable practices – very insightful and inspiring. The owner and guide were wonderful hosts, making us feel at home with their warm hospitality and knowledge. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for something offbeat, peaceful, and close to nature. Will definitely visit again! 🌱✨

I went for a farm tour and farm to table lunch. It was a great learning experience, we got to try different kinds of spices and coffee. The food was equally good, do try the chocolate mousse. Mr.Tanshikar was kind enough to give us a tour of his house as well and teach us about the benefits of mud houses and how we should go about living a slow peaceful life in sync with the nature.
Dhruv B — Google review
We had a wonderful time here. Even the journey to the spice farm is magnificent. What we learned about spices here was very informative and interesting. We were able to marvel at the owner's ancient mud house and gained a fantastic insight into the beautiful natural surroundings. The thali, prepared with local ingredients, was delicious. The shop is also magnificent. For little money, you can get exclusive, high-quality products here: spices, honey, chocolate, and coffee varieties we had never seen before. A unique experience for all the senses. An experience you will never forget. Thank you very much, dear friends.

🌿 A Must-Visit Gem in Goa’s Heartland I recently visited Tanshikar Spice Farm in Netravali, and it was one of the most authentic and enriching experiences I’ve had in Goa. Owned by Mr. Chinmai Tanshikar, whose family has nurtured this land for over 250–300 years, the farm spans 23 lush acres and is a living example of sustainable, organic farming. From arecanuts, cardamom, coffee, maize, honey, pepper, and countless other spices, everything grown here is 100% organic—and available for purchase directly from the source. The guided tour was both educational and immersive, and the staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to help, making the experience feel personal and warm. The food is simple, home-cooked, and deeply nourishing, prepared mostly with ingredients sourced from the farm itself or nearby homegrown plots. Meals are lovingly crafted by Mr. Chinmai’s mother and a few professional chefs, blending tradition with care. You can truly feel the freshness in every bite—it leaves you not just satisfied, but glowing from within. What truly sets this place apart is its eco-conscious spirit. They offer day and night treks, and within the estate flows a serene waterway that leads to a natural pool—perfect for a refreshing dip. Even more inspiring is their commitment to animal rescue, caring for stray dogs, snakes, and birds with compassion and dedication. This isn’t just a farm, it’s a sanctuary of nature, culture, and kindness. If you're ever in Goa, Tanshikar Spice Farm is a place you must visit at least once in your lifetime.

We did the spice tour that included delicious buffet lunch (which was also vegan friendly). The tour was really great, informative and full of interesting facts. You can see that they are passionate about what they do. Would highly recommend visiting! The drive there from Palolem Beach is also stunning.

Syntheri Rocks

Mentioned on
1 list
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Syntheri Rocks is a park area that showcases a river with small rapids and rock formations that have been shaped and hollowed out over time. Visitors are required to pay an entry fee of 50/- per person and must navigate narrow roads for some off-roading before reaching the destination. The area offers ample parking space for both cars and bikes, but visitors should be prepared to walk down several flights of steps to access the rocks.
Good place/ falls for a picnic with family. Suggestion: 1. Can't swim 2. No network 3. Carry some cash. 4. Carry your food. 5. Entry fee (50) per head.
Manjunath D — Google review
I visited here on 20-Apr-2025. Serene place. Parking available. 80 rupees per person. There is a small stall where you can get water and other stuff. From parking to the view point there are steps, climbing upstairs will be a little breathtaking so do have water in hand. One of the best places to visit in Dandeli. Some people do park their vehicle at the ticked counter and tend to walk, trust me it’s doing to be tiring better take your vehicle till the parking place.
Abhishek J — Google review
One of the unique natural monolithic rock formations to see which has been preserved. Recently opened. Do visit when it's not raining since it's a mud road which poses risk with downhill bends and elevation while returning. Cash only tickets. Either way you won't get any network.
Amit T — Google review
Syntheri Rocks is a towering granite monolith in the heart of Dandeli, shaped millions of years ago when molten magma cooled and later sculpted by the relentless Kali River. Its caves, potholes, and honeycomb patterns tell stories of centuries of erosion. In monsoon, the river crashes against it with wild force; in dry seasons, it stands calm and majestic. Visiting feels like meeting an ancient giant — silent, powerful, and timeless — a perfect blend of nature’s beauty and deep history.
Prajwal C — Google review
It's a wonderful heaven-like place. You can see various types of rock elements in one giant Syntheri rock. The beauty the rock has with underwater has a great impression.
Mallikarjun P — Google review
A really beautiful place, it would’ve been better if we were allowed to go down but there was a fence, it’s really worth a visit, car parking was available but the washrooms are unusable
DHANJITH K — Google review
Nice place but have to go down a long way. Going down is easy, while coming up ita tiresome. Carry water no shops nearby. From gate its no proper road to point/steps atleast 15 min.
Alwino D — Google review
“A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence."... ............ Exploring Karnataka....at Dandeli...... The famous monolithic granite.....Syntheri Rock..... At a distance of 31 km from Dandeli and 16 km from Ulavi, Syntheri Rock is monolithic granite structure with a height of 300 feet, which is located in the dense forests of Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary. It is one of the top Dandeli tourist places to visit. Syntheri Rock is a huge, massive limestone rock formed due to volcanic eruptions some million years ago. It is named after an English lady called Ms. Cinthera who is believed to have discovered this place in 20th century. River Kaneri passes along the side of this rock. Owing to the flow of the river from the vicinity, erosion has resulted in the rocks getting hollowed. The corners of this rock cave are inhabited by numerous pigeons and honeybees. Entry to the venue is controlled by forest department. The site can be reached either by jeep or by walk through the dense forest from the entrance. At the entrance visitors need to pay nominal entry fee and vehicles can go up to the parking area from where visitors need to climb down to reach the base. There is a 15-20 minute walk from the vehicle parking to the rock. A flight of 200 odd steps downwards lead you to the base. The steps are very steep and various types of rocks found in the forest are displayed along the steps.

INS Chapal (K94) Warship Museum is a unique beachside attraction located near Rabindranath Tagore Beach in Karwar. It features the decommissioned warship INS Chapal, which was a key player in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The museum offers visitors the opportunity to explore the ship's interior, including the captain's cabin and control room, providing an educational and entertaining experience for history enthusiasts and families alike.
Visited the Warship Museum (INS Chapal) in Karwar – a unique experience inside a real Navy ship. You can explore cabins, weapons and get a feel of naval life. The view from the deck, especially near sunset, is beautiful.
Kuntala N — Google review
It’s a great place to visit. It’s a very small theme based museum. It’s a navy ship INS Chapal and a cargo plane. Only navy ship is converted into museum where you can go inside seeing all the inner things like how to cabins were made, how the staff operated, how the places and engines are designed and assembled. Everything being kept in its original form that’s why it became rotten. But worth visiting. It’s lies somewhere between Gokarna and Goa route(may be I am not correct) Entry fees only 20rs per person. Must visit once.
Shatakshi G — Google review
"Must-visit destination for naval enthusiasts and history buffs! INS Chapal (K94) Warship & Aircraft in Karwar is a unique museum showcasing India's naval heritage. The decommissioned warship and aircraft on display are impressive and provide a glimpse into the country's maritime history. We were thoroughly impressed by the museum's exhibits, which included artifacts, photographs, and interactive displays. The staff was knowledgeable and eager to share insights into the ship's history and operations. A visit to INS Chapal is a great way to learn about India's naval history and appreciate the sacrifices of our brave sailors. Highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in naval history, technology, and patriotism.
Anish J — Google review
50 Rs. Entry ticket per head. Could have been managed better by the Karnataka Tourism Board. Since, I have been to the naval museum at Vizag, this feels a little less. The caretaker at the entrance of the Karwar tupalov aircraft museum is very passionate about his job and knowledgeable about the exhibits and enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge with visitors. I hope the government provided better guided facilities to the visitors here since the entry is ticketed.
Hitha N — Google review
The Warship & Aircraft museum at the Karwar beach is a special thing. We are allowed to get the glimpse of a decommissioned missile launcher ship of Indian Navy, the INS Chapal. Along with that the anti submarine aircraft Tuplev T-142M is also on display. After watching the amazing machines from inside and outside, one is filled with pride about the skills and hardwork that our soldiers put in for our safety. Photography is allowed on the deck and inside the ship but not inside the plane. AC are installed inside to make our experience more comfortable. A must watch if you go to Karwar. ₹ 50 are charged as ticket fee per person. The museum is open daily from 9.30 to 12.30 and then from 14.00 to 17.00
Upendra B — Google review
Located less than a km from Rabindranath Tagore beach, this warship museum uncovers the rich legacy of the Indian Navy. A great place especially to those who love to experience and pay attention to tiny details from the structure to a unique glimpse into life at sea. Entry fee is ₹15 and please ensure you carry change with you. Online payment was not accepted when I visited so please ensure you have cash to avoid unnecessary hassle.

Visitors can enjoy swimming and water sports while also exploring nearby attractions like Tagore Park with its landscaped gardens and statue of the poet. Nice beach. No amenities. Baywatchers are there for people's safety. Plenty of parking available.

Karwar Beach used to feel like an everyday childhood escape, but now it’s littered with garbage and surrounded by mess. The play area also needs serious attention, with rusted and damaged equipment in need of repair and improvement.
Jovita P — Google review
The beach is naturally serene and calm. Not crowded and can walk peacefully. It's dark sanded and has a rustic look. Landscapes are awesome with hills in background. It's just a few minutes detour from NH66 towards Mangalore side. Local government really need to work on the cleanliness side and need to build more facilities and a good toilet. Didn't find any good food stall or restaurant closeby. Dogs and cows wandering in the beach even at late night. Lot of littering all around the beach. Parking space is ample.
Sooraj S — Google review

Gokarna Main Beach is a long sandy beach located near a prominent temple, making it popular with locals and pilgrims. Nestled along the pristine coastline of Karnataka, this retro coastal town offers an escape for those seeking solace amidst nature's untouched wonders. Gokarna Beach is a serene and scenic destination, perfect for those who love peace and natural beauty. The golden sand, clear waves, and laid-back atmosphere make it an ideal escape from the rush of city life. Unlike crowded tourist spots, it has a calm charm where you can simply relax, take long walks, or enjoy the sunset. A must-visit for beach lovers seeking tranquility.”

If you want to enjoy bathing in sea water, this will be the best option in India, even better than Goa and Puri sea beach. water is very clear and not so deep ideal for people of all age. For only sight seeing, better go to Om beach. But water will be dirty there.
KRUSHNACHANDRA S — Google review
Gokarna Main Beach is a peaceful and beautiful spot, especially in the mornings when it’s not crowded. The water is clean and the weather pleasant, making it a great place to relax and enjoy nature. Perfect for those looking for a quiet beach experience with good vibes and fewer tourists.
Hemanth R — Google review
1) Long beach where you find some crowd. 2) Though the beach is not super clean, it is well maintained as per my opinion. 3) One can see 4 to 5 waves coming up one on another at this beach in morning hours. 4) Ample 4 wheeler parking is available. But still you may find difficulty in finding place to park your vehicle. 5) Approach roads are very narrow and you may have to drive through thousands of people walking on these narrow roads.
Nag M — Google review
It was a beautiful beach yes. But out of the 3 beaches I visited (Om, Kudle and Main) I will prefer the other two over this. We started the trek towards Kudle beach from here.
Jo J — Google review
It is a very clean & long beach. There is a little crowd at the entry point however if one ventures further in, the beach is peaceful and secluded. The trafic is also well managed by the local Police.

We visited on weekend. This place was not crowded at that time in Oct end. We did trek in the beach but don’t do trekking in the evening after 5 pm because at that time waves are so high. And u cannot go from one beach to another by trekking.

A must visit place if you are in Gokarna. Can drive to the location by your own vehicle or can rent it from gokarna (1 Hour drive). We visited in monsoon the place is fabulous. A small temple and the big cave that's the visit target here. 20 to 30 min of walk from parking to cave entrance. The walk is not easy so you must wear sports shoes. Ticket to buy at the gate of the cave and have to remove your shoes as not allowed. Must keep cash with you and download an offline map in google so if you drive to the location, otherwise you will lost as no network and all signs to reach there are not in english they are in local language. - June 2025

A place where you don't get a mobile network but it is worth visiting. The rocks were amazing. You will love driving here, make sure your car is powerful. There are some nominal entry fees. You won't get food here so carry your own. You can enjoy it outside.

Surreal experience! It’s truly a must-visit place. The caves are mesmerizing, and the route that takes you there is calming and scenic. The Shiva temple is swayambhu, and the walk from the caves is actually a parikrama to the temple. Droplets of water naturally cascade from the rocks onto the Shivling, making it a one-of-a-kind experience. The light filtering through the rock formations in the caves creates a dramatic and cinematic effect.

Road via Mattighatta road(vaddi) is better as walk to Caves is easy and short. Even for senior citizens this route is better. Carry ☔ and water. There is tea shop just at entry point of trek. U get Maggi and other beverages /edibles items. Place is wonderful

The legend of Yana Caves in Uttara Kannada, Karnataka, is deeply intertwined with the story of Bhasmasura and Mohini. Yana is famous for these two massive rock outcrops known as the Bhairaveshwara Shikhara and the Mohini Shikhara Yana is also well known as a pilgrimage center because of the cave temple below the Bhairaveshwara Shikhara where a Swayambhu ("self-manifested", or "that which is created by its own accord") linga has been formed. Water drips from the roof over the Linga, adding to the sanctity of the place. Yana Rocks made up of limestone . It is near to Sirsi Kumata highway. Vehicle not going near to Rock.. A single lane road was constructed in the thick forest which reduces the trek-length 1.0 kilometres .

You can avoid Treck if you go from Gokarna side after Yana cave you can go for Vibhuti waterfall both just take 6,7 hours so go early and experience awesome trills

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Peaceful and Photogenic Place – Must Visit! Yana Caves is a very beautiful and peaceful place surrounded by lush greenery. The temple adds a divine charm to this natural wonder. It’s also a very popular and photogenic destination — perfect for nature lovers and photographers. Tips for visitors: Try to visit in the morning in summer , as you need to trek around 500 meters from parking. The return trail is uphill, which can be tiring for elders and children, especially in hot weather. Washrooms are located at the base and a bit far from the temple, so plan accordingly. Drones are not allowed here, so avoid carrying one. Overall, a wonderful and serene experience — definitely a must-visit spot near Gokarna!

A Peaceful Slice of Paradise – OM Beach, Gokarna 🌊✨ We recently visited Om Beach, and it was such an amazing experience! The beach truly lives up to the hype — peaceful, scenic, and shaped beautifully like the sacred “Om” symbol. The vibe here is calm yet vibrant, making it a perfect mix for both relaxation and fun. We started our day with a small trek along the cliffs that connect Om Beach to nearby beaches — the views from the top were absolutely stunning! You can spot movie-like scenery all around. Later, we just chilled by the shore, played some beach games like volleyball and frisbee, and ended the day watching a breathtaking sunset over the Arabian Sea — easily one of the best sunsets I’ve seen. 🌅 The beach is clean and less crowded, with a few small shops and shacks offering snacks, lemon soda, and local food. The whole area feels like a mini Goa but quieter, making it great for those who prefer a more peaceful atmosphere. A few quick tips: • No water sports here, so it’s more about peace than thrill. • Trekking shoes or slippers with grip help if you explore nearby spots. • Visit during early morning or evening for the best light and fewer people. Om Beach is not just another beach — it’s a place to soak in nature, unwind with friends, and reconnect with yourself. Whether you want to trek, chill, or just watch the sun melt into the sea, this place will leave you refreshed and smiling. 💙

A wonderful beach for families to enjoy some fun times here. The entrance has a bit of stairs to walk down which can be cumbersome when exiting when you have to climb those same stairs, especially with the sun shining. All in all a beautiful beach. Do visit to experience it yourself.

The most lively beach in Gokarna. The boating from there was top notch. Also the walk to the end of beach along with slight drizzle was amazing. Highly recommended.

It is probably the best beach in Gokarna. There are 5-6 total beaches there which can be accessed both through the roads or hiking the hills. Have been to this place twice and it feels really good to be there. Car parking is an issue there as the number of visitors are gradually increasing in Gokarna. Do visit Mahabaleshwar temple whenever you go there.

I went both at night and in the morning, it was a beautiful beach. Wasn't very crowded the time I went. I definitely liked it a lot.

SIRSI SRI MARIKAMBA TEMPLE

Sights & Landmarks
Shri Marikamba Temple in Sirsi is an ancient Hindu temple renowned for its stunning Kaavi murals. Erected in 1688, it reveres the goddess Durga and draws an enormous crowd of devotees during its biennial fair held in March. The fair is one of Karnataka's most significant events. The temple is open from 6 am to 9 pm daily, with Tuesdays and Fridays being ideal times to visit.
Beautiful and sacred site offering darshan of Shree Marikamba Devi. The temple premises is well maintained and we get a chance to visit the main sanctum sanctorum and visit devi from up close and give our offerings. Calm and peaceful temple premises 🙏🏻
Sachin R — Google review
The temple was built in 1689, making it one of the oldest Shakti temples in Karnataka. Dedicated to Marikamba Devi, a fierce form of Goddess Durga, she is revered as the “elder sister” (Doddamma) of all Marikamba goddesses across Karnataka. I visited it on a Thursday morning of September at around 7:30 am as I was returning from Jog falls and it was supercool as there was no crowd and I could do Darshan straight. You must visit this if you are around this place. The temple features rare Kaavi murals—an extinct art form of coastal Karnataka involving red-pigmented plaster over a white base, engraved to reveal intricate designs. Inside, a central courtyard surrounded by cloisters displays images of deities from Hindu epics. Shri Marikamba Devi was installed in 1689 A.D. Sirsi was then a tiny village. The deity which is said to have been found in a local tank was installed here through the efforts of the Nandikeshwarmath Swamiji with the consent of Sadashiva Raya II of Sonda Dynasty, a sub-Kingdom under the famous Vijayanagar Empire. Since then Shri “Devi” has become the popular ‘Grama Devata’. Till recently the administration of the temple was looked after by the elders of the town. But from 1955 A.D. the temple is being administrated by the BOARD OF TRUSTEES comprising of 5 members. The trustees are nominated by the District Judge once in five years. Shri Marikamba is the Mother Divine like Kali of Bengal, Ambaji of Rajasthan and Ambabhavani of Maharashtra. She is Mother in love. She subdues the wicked and protects the Virtuous. It is a fact that all the wishes of her devotees are fulfilled only by their prayers. The annual Chief festivals are ‘Jayanti’, ‘Navaratri’ and ‘Kartheeka’ Illuminations, and bi-annual car festival. The temple is beehive of religious, social, educational and cultural activities. 20 Kindergarten Schools in the town area are being run by Temple. The temple is open Tuesday, Friday from 7.00 A.M. to 10.00 P.M. & other days from 7 A.M. to 9 P.M. for various sevas.

Sirsi Marikamba Temple is a Hindu temple located in Sirsi town of Karnataka, India. It is one of the prominent temples in Karnataka, Also known as Doddamma Temple, Marikamba Temple is dedicated to the goddess Durga, who is also called Renuka and Yellamma. It is one of the popular places to visit in Sirsi. The temple was built in the year 1688, and it is one of the important seats of shakti worship in Karnataka. The temple is highly regarded by devotees not just all over Karnataka but also in the neighboring states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. People of Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada districts consider Goddess Marikamba as their family deity as they believe that Devi will destroy all evil forces and protect them from natural disasters. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple has the central image of goddess Durga in the fierce form with eight arms mounted on a tiger. Legend has it that this 7-foot-tall image was discovered in a pond near Hangal. In 1611, Sadashiva Rao II, the King of Sonda, gave orders to install the wooden deity at this place. The architecture of this temple is splendid making it a must-visit place. Marikamba Temple is decorated with Kavi art on both sides of its walls. Sirsi Marikamba Temple is one of the most famous temples in Karnataka, attracting devotees and tourists alike. Visitors praise the temple’s divine atmosphere, stunning Kaavi murals, colorful architecture, and the powerful idol of Goddess Marikamba. The temple is well-maintained and generally clean, making it a peaceful place for worship. Its historical significance and the grand Marikamba Jaatre fair add to its cultural charm. However, some reviews mention limited parking, heavy crowds during festivals, and long queues. Visiting early morning or on non-festival days is suggested. Overall, it’s a spiritually uplifting and culturally rich experience worth visiting.

Waterfalls
Jog Falls, India's second highest waterfall, is a stunning sight that varies from a gentle flow to a powerful cascade during the monsoon season. Although undergoing redevelopment, it remains a delight for the eyes. Due to construction work, access to the bottom of the falls is closed, and parking space is limited. The water source is a reservoir, and during heavy rain, gates are opened to increase water flow. Boat rides are available on the reservoir.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Visited Jog Falls — one of the most stunning natural wonders in Karnataka! The view of the waterfalls cascading down from such a great height is absolutely mesmerizing, especially when there’s good water flow. The mist, the sound of the falls, and the surrounding greenery make it a truly refreshing experience. There are multiple viewpoints to enjoy the beauty from different angles, and the area is well-maintained with decent parking and basic facilities. Best time to visit is right after the monsoon when the falls are at their full glory. A must-visit destination for nature lovers and photographers! 🌿💦

One of the most beautiful spots I’ve seen in India. The place is nice , calm, cool and soothing. Excellent place to click photographs. Sufficient parking space is available. Tickets are around Rs. 20 per person. Looks like they are planning many new attractions here, as there’s plenty of construction going on. Best time to visit would be when they open the nearby dam, and the waterfall is in full flow.

I visited during dasara holidays and it was not very crowded, which made the experience peaceful and enjoyable. The falls looked beautiful and the weather was pleasant. There are some construction works going on near the view points and entrance, but it didn't affect the overall experience much. A great place to enjoy nature and relax.

Jog Falls is a stunning destination for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts visiting Karnataka. As one of India’s tallest waterfalls, it plunges a remarkable 253 meters, especially dramatic during the monsoon season. Jog Falls, Karnataka-Jog Falls is the second-highest plunge waterfall in India, located on the Sharavathi River in the Shimoga district of Karnataka. The monsoon season (June to September) offers the most dramatic views, with the falls being at their full force. Enjoy the view from designated viewpoints Visit the Mahatma Gandhi Hydro Electric plant Explore the surrounding dense, evergreen forests Go during the monsoon season to see rainbows in the mist. A sightseeing tour offers visitors the chance to experience the majestic waterfall framed by lush green landscapes. Beyond being a peaceful escape, it's an ideal location for nature walks and photography. The tour package for Jog Falls also includes nearby viewpoints, perfect for a weekend getaway or a week-long vacation from cities like Bangalore. For photography enthusiasts, capturing the falls from various angles is a must, as the views provide stunning landscape shots at every turn. The area around Jog Falls can be slippery, so it is advisable to wear comfortable and sturdy footwear. It is also important to carry rain gear, as it can rain unexpectedly in the area. Jog Falls is surrounded by lush green forests and beautiful landscapes. If you have time, you must explore the surrounding areas and take in the natural beauty of the region. The main viewpoint is located on the opposite side of the waterfall and offers a panoramic view of the falls.

The sheer volume of water cascading down the rocks is breathtaking and the multiple segmented streams create an awe-inspiring view, especially during peak monsoon. The surrounding lush greenery adds to the serenity and beauty of the location. It's an unforgettable experience and a must-visit for nature lovers and photographers. Definitely a highlight of any trip to Karnataka.

Entry fees is 20 rupees. The experience is of a lifetime. We went during Monsoon on July’25. We were thrilled to see the sceneric beauty. It feels like milk is gushing down from the waterfalls more than water. India’s biggest waterfall is absolutely an eye soother. The ghat roads leading to jog falls, the Shimoga district, the road exiting Shimoga and going towards kumta all are satisfying. ❤️🧿❤️

Jog Falls 🌊✨ Standing before the mighty Jog Falls felt like standing before nature’s heartbeat — powerful, calm, and endlessly beautiful. The mist kissed my face, the roar echoed through my chest, and for a while, everything else just faded away. 🌿💧 Even though the place is under construction, there’s something special about watching it evolve — a promise that soon, this wonder will shine brighter than ever. Change is happening, but the soul of Jog Falls remains the same — pure, majestic, and unforgettable. ❤️

There is lot of construction work happening around so plan accordingly to visit Be careful about the touts around would cheat you by saying many things and take money from you. Just visit inside by paying ticket and watch that’s the best way. Road is also not good due to work happening around Right now water is there so you can watch the falls but after few days this will also stop as rain season has ended for the year To watch water in full best time to visit is July and August

Tucked away in the charming, historical town of Bhatkal, Karnataka, the Shree Ketapai Narayana Temple is an absolute treasure! This ancient temple stands as a living, breathing monument to the rich cultural and artistic heritage of the region. Stepping into this temple feels like being transported back in time—a fusion of Vijayanagara and Dravidian architecture welcomes you, with every mural, pillar, and corner telling stories of devotion, artistry, and history. The gopuram rises tall, and the colorful murals inside are simply breathtaking! The intricate carvings on the pillars aren't just decoration—they’re tales of Krishna’s playful mischief and Ramayana’s legendary battles etched into stone. It’s like the walls are alive, whispering ancient stories to anyone who pauses to listen. What really struck me during my visit was how peaceful and meditative the surroundings are. There’s an unmissable sense of sacredness that fills the air, leaving you reflective and inspired. Despite its significance, this historical marvel remains a well-kept secret, not nearly as popular as it should be—but that’s what makes it all the more special! If you're in Bhatkal, don’t miss the chance to explore this timeless beauty. Whether you're a history buff, an art lover, or just someone seeking a peaceful retreat, this temple has something magical to offer. Shree Ketapai Narayana Temple is not just a place—it’s an experience.

Small temple with quick 10-15 tour. Well preserved and clean. One of 6 in the small area dating back to 1500 CE when Bhatkal was Vijaynagar empire's main port trading with persian gulf and beyond. Khetapai, one of the diamond business trader is believed to be amongst the many businessmen who donated to make these temples. Worth a quick stop, and only 100mt off the NH66. We happened to have the pujari around and he was very kind to explain the story of the stone art - of various gods, mahabharata and Krishna Leela.

The darshan is divine and you can get a small blessing, which is a few add on most temples have introduced in the temple complex once! Around south canara most temples offer prasada in form of lunch and dinner which is a must try experience

Visiting Kollur Mookambika Temple is not just a journey to a sacred shrine — it’s a soul-stirring experience that stays with you long after you leave. Nestled at the foothills of the Western Ghats in Karnataka, surrounded by lush greenery and the gentle hum of nature, this ancient temple dedicated to Devi Mookambika feels alive with divine energy. The moment you step into the temple complex, there’s a quiet sense of sanctity that embraces you. The golden idol of Goddess Mookambika, said to embody Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati, radiates such grace and strength that it’s impossible not to feel moved. The priests perform the rituals with deep devotion, and the chanting of mantras echoes beautifully through the temple halls. What makes Kollur so special is the powerful feminine energy that permeates the space. Whether you come seeking wisdom, strength, or peace, there’s a sense of being heard here — as though the Goddess herself listens with compassion. The temple’s location adds to its magic: misty hills, the Souparnika River flowing nearby, and the sounds of birds at dawn make the surroundings feel heavenly. If you visit early in the morning, when the lamps are still flickering and the temple bells ring softly, the experience feels almost otherworldly. Prasadam is simple yet soulful, and the temple is well-maintained despite the large number of devotees who visit each day. Pilgrims from across South India — especially from Kerala and Karnataka — come here for Vidyarambham, Aksharabhyasam, and special pujas for children and students, making it a deeply family-oriented and spiritually uplifting place.

I recently visited the Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple, and it was one of the most divine and peaceful experiences of my temple journey. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Mookambika, an incarnation of Parvathi Devi, who is worshipped as the goddess of power, wisdom, and courage. Located at the foothills of the Western Ghats and surrounded by lush greenery, the temple’s atmosphere is serene and filled with spiritual energy. The architecture of the temple is traditional Kerala style mixed with Karnataka influences, with beautiful stone carvings and copper plated roofing. The main deity is made of Panchaloha (five metals), and the sanctum radiates a powerful divine presence. The darshan queue is well-managed, and even during weekends, it moves smoothly. Regular darshan is free, and special poojas or sevas can be booked at the counter for a reasonable fee. - Timings: Usually from 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM and 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. - Dress code: Traditional attire is compulsory, men should wear dhoti or pants, and women should wear sarees or salwar suits. - The temple serves Anna Prasada to devotees daily, which is simple and delicious. - Ample parking space nearby. - Several shops around the temple sell pooja items, prasadam, and souvenirs. - Lodging and food options are easily available near the temple premises. Overall, the Kollur Mookambika Temple offers a deeply spiritual and peaceful atmosphere, making it a must-visit for devotees seeking blessings and inner tranquility.

The main deity, a Swayambhu Lingam with a unique golden line, represents the harmonious union of Shiva and Shakti—a powerful sight. The temple, consecrated by Adi Shankaracharya, is a key center for knowledge (Vidya) and is exceptionally well-maintained and organized. The surroundings — the lush greenery, the sound of the Souparnika River, and the gentle bells — make it a perfect place for prayer and reflection. I felt truly blessed to receive Devi’s darshan. A visit here is not just a journey of faith, but also a reminder of divine grace and protection. 🌸🙏 Highly recommended for all devotees seeking peace, blessings, and spiritual awakening.

A very spiritual and calming place nestled in nature. The darshan of Goddess Mookambika is truly divine and gives a sense of peace. The temple is neat and well organized, and the priests conduct the poojas beautifully. The road to Kollur is scenic, making the journey enjoyable. However, it can get very crowded during weekends and festivals, so patience is needed. The Souparnika River nearby adds charm, but cleanliness could be improved.

Kodachadri is a 4,406-ft. peak located in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, offering trekking trails through dense forests, waterfalls, and breathtaking elevated views. It is known as a paradise for trekkers and provides an exciting opportunity to explore the beauty of the region. Accessible from Shimoga, this destination allows visitors to embark on challenging treks amidst cloud-covered peaks and lush green terrain.
I did the Kodachadri trek on June 22, 2025, in the Shivamogga district of Karnataka. Starting from my homestay, I covered around 14 km in total, doing only the one-way trek on foot. The return was via a jeep ride that cost ₹450 per person. The trek took about 6 hours to complete and reached an elevation of 1,343 meters. It was a moderately challenging route that pushed me both physically and mentally. One of the highlights was crossing a waterfall during the trek. The trail was incredibly scenic, surrounded by dense greenery and the peaceful sounds of nature. I went with a group of friends, and the shared effort and laughs made the experience more enjoyable, even when it got tough. Reaching the top felt amazing. The weather that day was just right for a monsoon trek—light rain and fog added a magical, calming vibe to the whole atmosphere. Standing at the summit after the climb was truly rewarding. However, the trekking group we joined, Native Trekking, was a big letdown. Their coordination was very poor—they were late at every stage, and at the trek checkpoint, we were made to stand in line for over two hours just to register. On the way back, some fellow trekkers played loud music and behaved rudely, and the organizers didn’t respond at all to complaints—possibly because they were part of the same local group. Kodachadri is undoubtedly a beautiful place, and I would definitely recommend the trek itself—but not with Native Trekking. Their lack of professionalism ruined part of the experience. I had done the Netravathi trek earlier, and compared to that, Kodachadri was a mix of breathtaking nature and poor management.

I've visited this stunning hill station twice - once in 2018 during the rainy season and again in 2019 during the summer. Both times were breathtakingly beautiful in their own ways. The trek to the top is moderately challenging, but the scenic views are simply divine. I loved the misty greens and the beauty of nature all around. It's really heaven! Plus, there's an option to reach the top by jeep too, so you can choose your adventure. Trekking is a great way to experience the natural beauty up close, with mist-covered hills and lush greenery all the way. And the moment you reach the top, it's like a divine feeling washes over you - your mind becomes calm, and you feel serene peace. The panoramic views from the summit are pure magic, with sunrises and sunsets that'll leave you speechless. Kodachadri is a must-visit destination for any nature lover or trekking enthusiast.

Kodachadri trek is an amazing experience filled with lush greenery all around. The trails are quite steep, making it a bit challenging, especially during the rainy season when the path gets slippery and fog covers the view. But the misty atmosphere makes it feel magical

Kodachadri, located in the heart of the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary in the Shimoga district of Karnataka, is more than just a mountain peak—it's an adventure, a spiritual retreat, and a paradise for nature photographers. Standing tall at 1,343 meters (4,406 ft), this peak truly lives up to its name, which translates from Sanskrit as "Jasmine of the Hills." The main allure of Kodachadri is the journey to the summit. Visitors have two primary modes of transport: the adventurous trek or the thrilling jeep safari. Once at the peak, the views are breathtaking. The sunset views here are truly magnificent, painting the sky in fiery gold and orange hues. Kodachadri is deeply linked to mythology and history, adding a layer of spiritual significance to the visit. Sarvajna Peetha is a small, ancient stone structure believed to be the spot where the great philosopher and saint Adi Shankaracharya meditated. Whether you're a nature lover, a trekking enthusiast, or a spiritual seeker, Kodachadri offers a deeply satisfying experience.

One of the best trekking route in Karnataka. Kodachadri trek in western ghats passes through the deep forest trails. Trek can be done is 2 routes one is from the Kattinahole via the Hidlumane waterfalls and second is from Valur route. The most popular, adventurous and beautiful trek route is being Hidlumane waterfalls starting from Kattinahole. Need to register online for the trekking. If you are looking for Jeep to reach the peak of Kodachadri, no online bookings required. A 12KMS trail passes through deep forest trials along with Hidlumane waterfalls. Trek is going to easy to moderate trek with slight steep trek during the mid points.

Kodachadri, nestled in Karnataka's Western Ghats, is a renowned destination celebrated for its lush landscapes, spiritual significance, and adventurous trekking routes. Standing at an elevation of 1,343 meters, it is the highest peak in the Shivamogga district and has been designated a natural heritage site by the Karnataka Government. 🌄 Highlights Trekking Experience: The trek to Kodachadri is both challenging and rewarding, offering routes through dense tropical forests, meadows, and waterfalls. The journey culminates at the Sarvajna Peetha, a small temple where Adi Shankaracharya is believed to have meditated, providing panoramic views of the Western Ghats. Off-Road Jeep Ride: For those less inclined to trek, a jeep ride is available, navigating through rugged terrains to a point near the peak. While the ride is thrilling, it can be quite bumpy and is not recommended for individuals with back issues. Spiritual Significance: Beyond its natural beauty, Kodachadri holds religious importance, forming a backdrop to the Mookambika Temple in Kollur. The Sarvajna Peetha at the summit is a revered site for devotees. ⚠️ Things to Consider Physical Demands: The trek can be strenuous, especially during monsoon seasons when paths become slippery. It's advisable for individuals with health concerns to assess their capabilities before attempting the trek. Limited Facilities: Accommodations at the peak are basic, with limited amenities. Travelers should be prepared for minimal facilities and carry necessary supplies. Environmental Concerns: Visitors have noted instances of littering at the summit. It's essential to maintain the sanctity and cleanliness of the environment by disposing of waste responsibly.

Annegudde (Kumbhashi) Sri Vinayaka Temple is a serene pilgrimage site located on a small hill in Kumbhashi, around 9 km south of Kundapur and about 100 km from Mangalore. It is one of the seven sacred places known as Mukti Sthalas in coastal Karnataka and holds a significant place in the hearts of devotees across Southern India. The temple is situated right off NH-66, making it very accessible by road. The temple complex is spacious, well-maintained and exudes a sense of divinity and peace. The architecture is striking, with a beautiful entrance and a clean, organized layout. There is ample parking space just outside the complex and the surroundings are quiet and conducive to spiritual reflection. The presiding deity is Lord Ganesha, also known here as Aane-Gudde Vinayaka. The idol is large, majestic, and adorned with silver and gold embellishments. It is believed by devotees to be ever-growing and immensely powerful in granting wishes. During my weekday afternoon visit, the temple was not crowded, allowing for an unhurried darshan. The pujari was soft spoken, helpful, and guided me kindly through the seva rituals. The temple offers various facilities for pilgrims, including a dedicated seva counter where one can make donations or purchase seva tickets. The process was smooth and well organized. There are also guest houses and a dormitory for those wishing to stay overnight. Shops selling flowers and puja items line the approach to the temple, along with some restaurants catering to visitors. Festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Rathotsava in December are celebrated with grandeur here, drawing large crowds. On regular days, especially weekdays, the temple offers a calm and spiritually enriching experience. Annegudde Temple at Kumbhashi is an important spiritual destination in Karnataka. It combines divinity, cleanliness, good management and a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you are a local devotee or a visitor exploring coastal Karnataka, this temple deserves a place on your itinerary.

Vinayaka temple Annegudda Udupi District Anegudde in Karnataka . One of the best known Ganesha temples in Udupi District is that of Shri Maha Ganapathi at Anegudde. Anegudde is one of the seven ‘Mukti Sthalas’ (Parashurama Kshetra) in coastal Karnataka . While the name Kumbhasi is said to be derived from Kumbhasura, who was slain here. The story behind the name goes like, Long ago Once, faced with recurring spells of drought in the region, the sage Agasthya decides to perform yagas and penance to please the gods and bring rain. But all his efforts were constantly ruined by a demon named Kumbhasura living in the vicinity. The sage is determined that the demon must be eliminated to bring peace and prosperity to the region. Having learned that the Pandavas were roaming the region in exile, he requests Dharmaraya (Yudhisthira) to send Bhima for slaying the demon. Being the strongest amongst the Pandavas, Bhima readily agrees and a ferocious battle ensues. Despite Bhima’s strength, he is unable to kill Kumbhasura, who, by the virtue of a boon, seems invincible. Worried about the prospect of defeat, Bhima, while returning to camp after the day’s fight, happens to hear a divine voice that advises him to invoke the blessings of Lord Ganesha for achieving victory. On praying to the Lord, Bhima is bestowed with a sword by him, in the guise of an elephant that helps Bhima slay the demon. The region thus derives its name from two words namely Kumbhasura, the demon and Asi (sword), the weapon used to slay him. It is also said that as Lord Ganesha descended to earth in the guise of an elephant to bestow the sword, an elephant shaped rock is said to have appeared at this point, thus giving the place its other name, Anegudde, meaning the hillock having an elephant shaped rock (ane meaning elephant and gudde meaning hillock in Kannada). Once again I will say that One of the must visit Ganpati temple.... Anegudde Vinayaka temple- The name Anegudde comes from Aane (elephant) and Gudde (hillock), as it is the abode of the elephant-headed god, Sri Vinayaka. One of the best known Ganesha temples in Udupi District is that of Shri Maha Ganapathi at Anegudde. Anegudde is one of the seven ‘Mukti Sthalas’ (Parashurama Kshetra)in coastal Karnataka. Here, Lord Ganapathi is also called, ‘Siddhi Vinakaya’ and ‘Sarva Siddhi Pradaayaka’, the provider of all boons. People come here with all kinds of wishes. The Lord Vinayaka here is said to fulfill all the wishes of his devotees. Shri Anegudde Vinayaka Temple in Kumbashi village, Udupi District, Karnataka. This is the place where Lord Ganesha gave a sword to Bheema to fight with demon. Devotees wishes are fulfilled by the Lord without fail.

The Vinayaka Temple is located on hillock called Anegudde, below hillock is known as Kumbasi or Kumbashi. Anegudde Vinayaka Temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Anegudde is rewarded one of the seven 'Mukti Sthalas' of Karnataka or Parashurama kshetras, which are believed to be created by sage Parashurama. Anegudde is also popularly called Kumbashi. The name Kumbhashi is said to be derived from the demon Kumbhasura. According to the mythology, when drought hit this area, Sage Agasthya performed penance to appease the Rain, God. During the penance, demon Kumbhasura started troubling the sages. Bheemasena gets a weapon from Lord Ganesha to kill Kumbahasura and assassinate him at this place. The temple at Anegudde is dedicated to Lord Vinayaka (Ganesha). According to Legend, Sage Agasthya arrived from heaven to perform Yagna (religious offering) to please the Devas for rain. Kumbasura, an Asura troubled the sages and disrupted the yagna. At this time Lord Ganesha blessed Bheema of Pandavas, with a sword. Bheema fought Kumbasura and slays him. The main sanctum sanctorum contains the majestic figure of Vinayaka with silver Armour, in a standing posture. Tulabharam, a custom of offering to God valuables in weight equivalent of a person is frequently done in this temple by devotees. Ganesha Chauthi is the main festival in this temple. Best during monsoon and less effort to reach peak which is hardly finds 20 to 30 stairs but 6-7 kms road travel is very narrow and steepy. Good place to sit and chill.
Mohan O — Google review
Do not visit during the monsoon, since you won't be able to see the breathtaking views that everyone is talking about. Once in a while the fog clears up and you can appreciate the view. The drive/ride up the hill is tortuous and difficult. Would not recommend unless you have a bike or a decently powerful scooter. Stay safe!

This place route is not so easy, road condition is totally worse! If suddenly opposite vehicle comes, it becomes difficult to manage and pass from there! Better park your vehicles near the Main road temple Arch and take a jeep ride or better enquire with nearby localites about the condition before going to tophill During our visit it was difficult due to worse road condition

This is one of the oldest Jain temples, dating back to the 17th century, located atop a hill at an elevation of over 800 meters. The site offers a mesmerizing viewpoint and is truly a must-visit destination. Please note that the approach roads include several narrow curves—drive carefully.

Beautiful sights of the valley below and rocks around. The drive up to the hills was difficult with very rough dirt roads. But worth the view.

It's a Jain temple with breathtaking view at the hilltop of the western ghats during the monsoon season. The road though is in very poor condition. People with good driving experience can take this route. The gate to this place closes down at 5pm so make sure you reach there on time.

I have had food at many famous temples like Dharmatsala, Tirupathi, Kukke Subramanya, etc. but Udupi Temple have very poor food quality. In the rice serving atleast 15-20 rice bugs was there. We consider this as Prasadam and don’t want to complain. But definitely this quality requires improvement.

Kind of prasasan in the form of food. The devotees are given food free of charges. The serving starts only after a line of people are seated. The plates come in a trolley,. Infact, everything comes in trolleys pulled by the service persons . The plates are to be picked when they go past you. The serving starts with a sweet. Then the rice is served, followed by dal, and finally chaas. The devotees need to give their plates themselves for washing, before washing their hands

Located some 12 km from the city centre, situated quite inside from the main road, this beach doesn’t come close to the fame it has. It’s a dirty, badly maintained and just one-time visit type of beach. Quite spacious and good scope to develop it as a model- sea beach, Government apathy and lackadaisical attitude towards any tourism places not just beaches have made such a wonderful location in a just one cheap and third grade beach. I don’t recommend. But yes, it does have some extra activities to for enjoyment.

Tannirbhavi Beach in Mangalore is a hidden gem for anyone looking for peace away from the hustle of the city. The shoreline is wide, clean, and far less commercialized than most popular beaches, making it perfect for long walks, sunsets, or simply sitting by the waves. The sea breeze here feels refreshing, and the golden hour views are absolutely worth the visit. What I loved most is the calm and uncrowded vibe—you can actually hear the sound of the waves without constant noise around. However, since there aren’t too many shops or eateries nearby, it’s better to carry your own snacks and water. Also, swimming can be tricky because of the strong currents. Overall, Tannirbhavi Beach is a beautiful spot to unwind, capture stunning pictures, and experience coastal Karnataka in its raw, natural form. 🌊✨

Lived up to the expectations of a Blue Flag award. To get here, you take a short ferry ride from near Sultan Bathery across the Gurpur river, followed by a quick 400-meter walk. The month I was here (July), the tides were high and barriers along the shore kept us from entering the waters. Such a beautiful spot to spend time at. There are mini cafes at the entrance where you can grab a quick bite during your visit. Sorry I don’t have the best pictures!

Essentially, it signifies a beach that is clean, well-managed, and environmentally responsible. The beach was very gorgeous, neat and I really fall in love with the beach. Since its rainy season and lot of high tides around in Arabian sea, Beach management asked visitors not to enter into the sea and they put barricades around the sea. Worth visiting.

A Hidden Gem – Thanneer Bhavi Beach, Mangalore Thanneer Bhavi Beach is truly one of Mangalore’s hidden treasures. Just a 30-minute drive from the heart of the city, this beach offers peace, beauty, and a deep sense of calm. What surprised us the most was that we were the only people there! It felt like a private beach. The place is clean, well-maintained, and full of natural beauty. The sand is soft, and there are so many beautiful sea shells—kids will love collecting them. The colours of the sky during sunset were just magical. The photos and videos we took don’t even do justice to how stunning it looked in person. Historically, Thanneer Bhavi has been known as a peaceful riverside spot, and over time, it became a calm coastal beach visited mostly by locals. Unlike the more popular beaches, this one is quiet and serene—perfect for those who want to enjoy nature without the crowd. If you’re visiting Mangalore and want to experience the raw beauty of the sea, Thanneer Bhavi Beach is a must-visit. You’ll come back feeling refreshed and connected to nature.

This is a unique Hindu temple in Ananthapura, only temple built in the middle of a lake in Kerala. 👍 The main sanctum is surrounded by a rectangular lake, access to the sanctum is via a footbridge on the eastern side. The temple welcomes all visitors regardless of faith who are respectful and mindful of the sacredness of the place. Dress code - Men need to remove the shirts / T-shirts before entering sanctum area (you can remove and keep them with you). Women are expected to wear Saree, salwar Kamez, or long skirts. Avoid sleeves tops, short dresses or tight western wear. Puja tokens are issued near the entrance counter The lake seems to have a Vegetarian Crocodile 😀 we couldn’t see though. Footwear must be left outside the temple like any other temple. (No shoe racks) Photography inside sanctum not allowed. There’s enough parking space for two and four wheelers outside. Few shops in parking area to buy any puja items.

The Shree Ananthapadmanabha Swamy Temple, often called the Ananthapura Lake Temple, is a captivating and peaceful sanctuary nestled in Kumble, Kasaragod. As the only lake temple in Kerala, it offers a truly distinctive pilgrimage experience. It is an absolute must-visit! This temple holds immense spiritual importance as it is believed to be the Moolasthanam (original seat or source) of the much larger and famous Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. The legend centers around the great sage, Divakara Muni Vilwamangalam, who was performing penance here. Lord Vishnu appeared before him as a mischievous child, whom the sage, annoyed by the pranks, chastised and pushed away. The child vanished into a cave, proclaiming that the sage would find him again at 'Ananthankadu' (the forest of the serpent Anantha). This cave is still visible near the lake, and the sage's subsequent journey led him to Thiruvananthapuram, where the massive Padmanabhaswamy Temple was eventually established. The Deity and Spiritual Core The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his non-reclining form, Ananthapadmanabha, The main sanctum is built on a rock structure in the center of a large rectangular lake (known locally as the kottaram). The architecture follows the classic Kerala style, blending seamlessly with the serene natural environment. The Lake and Its Divine Guardian The most famous and unique feature of the temple is the natural lake and its resident 'divine' crocodile, Babiya. Legend holds that Babiya is the guardian of the temple and is a strict vegetarian. While we visited the temple, the famous crocodile, sadly, remained elusive. We could not find the crocodile on this visit, but the large pond did host several fishes, which were cool to watch as they darted through the water. The Ambience: A Cool Midday Retreat We visited the temple around 12:00 PM in the afternoon, which might typically be the hottest time of the day. Surprisingly, the atmosphere was exceptionally calm and refreshing. The traditional architecture, the lush surroundings, and the cooling effect of the water all contributed to a wonderful, cool vibe. It was a serene and welcoming experience, making the midday journey completely worthwhile. Accessibility and Tips The temple is located approximately 14-16 km from Kasaragod town. It is easily reachable by road. Timing: Check timings before visiting, as like many temples, it closes for Ucha Pooja (midday worship). Visiting around 12:00 PM might mean you arrive just before the closing.

The surroundings are calm, clean, and filled with spiritual energy. The reflection of the temple in the water makes it a beautiful sight, especially in the early morning or evening. The place is well maintained and offers a serene experience away from the crowd.

Ananthapura Temple is a truly peaceful and divine place. The atmosphere is calm, spiritual, and very well maintained. The most special attraction is the famous guardian crocodile, which makes the temple even more unique and valuable. A must-visit temple for anyone coming to Kumble.

Nestled in the picturesque town of Kasargod, Bekal Beach is a serene coastal haven that promises an unforgettable experience. This pristine beach boasts stunning views of the iconic Bekal Fort and offers a mesmerizing landscape adorned with swaying palm trees. Visitors can explore its unique system of 45 caves, alongside historical forts, temples, and mosques that add to its charm.
Bekal Fort Beach — A Monsoon Surprise We stopped at the Bekal Fort Beach on a spur-of-the-moment visit while heading to Bekal Fort. It was drizzling and overcast — perfect monsoon weather. The beach waves were crashing against the shore with dramatic energy, likely stirred by the rains, and the scene felt utterly alive. Even though we hadn’t planned to stop, the moment felt right. The rain-washed air, fresh sea breeze, and rhythmic waves created a very peaceful and pleasant experience. Despite the drizzle, we walked barefoot on damp sand, feeling the cool sea spray on our faces — it was one of those spontaneous travel moments that stays with you. The beach is shallow and backed by a landscaped walkway and garden, offering beautiful views of Bekal Fort in the distance. It’s a quiet and less crowded spot, even in monsoon, giving a sense of seclusion amid lush greenery and historic charm. There’s parking nearby and small stalls around selling refreshments and local snacks. Tips: Sea can be rough, especially in monsoon. Do not go deep or attempt swimming. Best to just enjoy the view and avoid entering water. Beaches look beautiful in rain, but currents can be strong, so play safe. The best time to visit beach near Bekal Fort is during post-monsoon or winter (October–March) when weather is cooler and skies clear. All in all, our unscheduled stop at Bekal Fort Beach during light rain turned into one of the most memorable parts of the trip — serene, refreshing, and deeply atmospheric. Highly recommended if you’re passing by and want a moment of calm before exploring the fort.

Good one, more or less clean, you can enjoy long snad walk, you can play on the water also but suggest not to go deep or do adventure. Good time to visit early morning and evening. In the evening you can avail sunset view.

Good view from bekal Fort, no permission to enter into beach. Different towers to view the beach and the garden around it. Right time to visit morning or evening, as it a huge area to cover. P.S. Things to consider, bekal Fort and park is filled with couples. You might feel embarrassed if you go alone or with your children. Families need to watch ahead before exploring new sides of the beach Fort.

Sights & Landmarks
Bekal Fort is an impressive and expansive stronghold that offers picturesque views of the sea. The fort boasts well-preserved walls, gates, and tunnels, making it a fascinating destination for history enthusiasts. Efforts have been made to maintain the property in good condition. It is recommended to visit early during summer to avoid sun exposure and allocate at least 2-3 hours to explore the entire complex.
Bekal Fort in Kerala looks like an incredible place steeped in history and surrounded by natural beauty. From what I’ve read and seen in pictures, it’s one of the largest and best-preserved forts in Kerala, with impressive laterite stone walls and unique keyhole-shaped bastions. Its location right on the Arabian Sea offers breathtaking views of the coastline, making it perfect for photography and scenic walks. I’ve also read that the fort’s design and strategic position tell the story of its importance in the 17th century as a defensive stronghold. The surrounding greenery and the rocky beach create a peaceful and picturesque environment, which seems ideal for anyone who loves history, architecture, or just wants to enjoy a serene coastal spot.

Bekal Fort is a must-visit gem in Kasargod! The old colonial-style fort is beautifully constructed, and walking through its massive walls gives a glimpse of history and architecture that has stood strong for centuries. The fort itself is well maintained and offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea. Right next to it is Bekal Beach, which is clean, lively, and very happening. There are plenty of small stores and eateries around, making it a perfect spot to relax after exploring the fort. The sunset view from both the fort and the beach is simply spectacular. A perfect blend of history and natural beauty — highly recommended for anyone visiting North Kerala!

Bekal Fort is one of Kerala’s most impressive and beautifully maintained historical landmarks by ASI. 👍 Got famous after a Movie song in film (Bombay) 🎥 The entry / parking can be better managed, had to wait on the road for 20-25 minutes inching from main road to parking lot. Parking charge is Rs.40 Entry Tickets to be bought at the counter opposite to the main entry to port (Rs.25) Spread over 40 acres, it’s the largest fort in Kerala, built in the 17th century by Shivappa Nayaka of the Keladi Nayaka dynasty. Later, it came under the control of Tipu Sultan and the British — each era leaving its mark on the fort’s architecture and story. Prepare for long walks and inclined climbs in watch towers. Scenic views of the sea and nearby beaches and town views, worth it. There are stone benches to sit / relax. Could see drinking water taps at few places. There are couple of small shops selling ice cream, juices and water, packed chips, etc. Best part is on the west side sea viewing point (going down stairs) and watching sunset. There are places to sit and also go up to the final watch tower where the waves hit against. Around 5:45-6 the guards keep whistling to get the people out 😀 There are small sandy beach areas besides the port but access is restricted, though could see few people. Sea is rough so not recommended to venture. Overall a great place to spend few hours and take pictures 👍

Incredible fort. The entry fee is Rs. 25. This fort offers breathtaking scenic views. We arrived early in the morning, and the central area was peaceful. Upon reaching the viewpoint overlooking the beach, the sight was stunning, and the gentle sea breeze was calm and soothing. Overall, it is a lovely place to relax and enjoy.

Amazing fort with a rich history. Very well maintained. The highlight of the fort being the sea facing outpost, which gives a spectacular views of the Arabian Sea especially during sunset. Do visit in the evenings after 4 pm, since the temperature is cooler allowing one to walk around and explore this fort at a leisurely pace

Visited Bekal Fort recently — it’s a beautiful historic place with a stunning sea view. The atmosphere is peaceful and perfect for an evening visit. The fort area is well maintained, though it can get quite hot during the day, so sunset time is best. Nearby, there’s an ANERT EV charging station, which was very convenient for charging my electric car. Food options are limited (mostly ice cream and water), but overall it’s a must-visit place in Kasaragod! 🌊🏰⚡

Talakaveri Temple, located in the Brahmagiri Hills of Karnataka, is a renowned Hindu pilgrimage site and the birthplace of the sacred River Kaveri. Visitors can partake in a unique spiritual experience by bathing in the holy spring waters of the river. The temple dedicated to Goddess Kaveramma offers a serene and well-maintained space for prayer and meditation.
Talakaveri is the birthplace of the river kaveri. Its just around 70km from madikeri but it will more than 2 hours to reach this place due to the road width and conditions. This place was jam packed due to the long weekend. Lost of the local people were there to take a dip in the hold water to get the blessing of kaveri. It took more than 30 mins to see the kaveri amman. Good to see the origin of the kaveri river. Also we have other gods were there. People politely standing in the line and visit all the gods and return back. Temple was maintained neat and clean. Securities and Police were there to manage the crowd in proper way!

Divine Experience at Talacauvery – The Birthplace of River Kaveri Date of Visit: October 17th, 2025 (Kaveri Teerthodbhava) I had the sacred opportunity to visit Talacauvery Temple in Coorg on the auspicious day of Kaveri Teerthodbhava, and it was truly one of the most spiritually uplifting experiences of my life. Located at Brahmagiri Hills, this temple is not just a place of worship but a powerful spiritual landmark where the holy River Kaveri is believed to originate. The atmosphere on this sacred day was filled with devotion, chants, and divine energy. The moment the water emerged symbolically at the sacred kundike, there was a strong feeling of purification and blessings. The temple architecture is serene, traditional and peaceful, reflecting ancient South Indian spiritual grace. The sanctum of Goddess Kaveriamma is beautifully maintained and radiates a quiet divine presence. Priests performed poojas with devotion and guided devotees respectfully. The scenic beauty is breathtaking — lush green mountains, cool winds, mist-kissed surroundings, and a panoramic view that feels like nature itself is blessing every visitor. Climbing up to the Brahmagiri viewpoint beside the temple gives a mesmerizing 360° view of Coorg’s hills and forests. Even though the day was spiritually significant and crowded, everything was well-managed, and the crowd moved in a peaceful, disciplined manner — adding to the devotion rather than disturbing it. What made it special: • Witnessing the Teerthodbhava moment — spiritually powerful • Deep sense of peace and purity • Scenic beauty beyond words • Temple environment filled with devotion • A must-visit for both spiritual seekers and nature lovers I left the temple feeling blessed, calm, and connected — as if the divine energy of Mother Kaveri herself embraced everyone present. This is not just a temple — it is a divine source of life, culture, and spiritual strength. Highly recommended to everyone who wishes to experience spirituality, purity, and nature at its divine best.

This is the sacred birthplace of River Cauver. This place has a panoramic view. The drive from Baghmandala to Thala Kaveri is panaromic. River Kaveri is wife of Agyasthiyar Rishi also known by name Lopamudhra. There is no cost/ ticket to dip in holy Cauvery starting point Kund. One can offer some dakshina to the preist there who will happily do basic pooja. Beside the Kund, there are dress changing room separate for men and women. Also to mention free slipper stand and toilet are available as one enters the shrine Gate. First time when I went to Cauvery Kund, there were lot of tourist from north taking holy dip. But, the second time I went in September, during rainy season. Very few tourists came. the Kund had freezing water and the dip in Cauvery, is etched to my memory for life long. After taking holy dip and changing dress; perform pooja to Kaveri with preist. Then go up 20 steps, to visit 3 temple built. The Shiva linga is the one worshipped by Saint Agastya rishi.
