(Translated by Google) The exact place I went to was Rainbow Hotel,, The entire area is filled with the same facilities. It's the same atmosphere wherever you go. Perhaps because it was vacation, the kids room was almost booked even though it was a weekday. I had no choice but to use a slightly oversized room. The price is a bit high compared to the facilities, but if you have a large family, It's a size and satisfaction that I think I'll use again. There are three large beds on the first floor and a large bed on the upper floor, so children can have fun, and the family bath is the size of a local public bathhouse. It's half the size. It's really big. Next time, I'll take my parents with me. The bathtub is so big that I want to bring my younger brother's family. Haha. It's just a local motel facility with a large public bath and a hot spring!!! Cooking is not possible, but there are many restaurants nearby. There are places to eat jjamppong, so I had a hot and enjoyable time. (Translated by Google) Clear, clean, 70 degree Celsius hot spring water The facilities are similar to that of a local bathhouse, but if you look carefully, you can find many neat places. Bathing fees are usually 5,000 won, but you can sometimes find 4,000 won bath fees. The hotel bathroom is a bit expensive at 5,000 won. It's quiet in the summer and a bit crowded in the winter. Yeojwacheon Stream

Bodies of Water
Yeojwacheon River is a stunning tourist attraction, adorned with cherry blossom trees that bloom seasonally. The river banks are embellished with art pieces and street food vendors, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll. The entire city is awash with the beauty of these cherry blossoms, creating a romantic ambiance in the air. Despite its popularity amongst tourists, the weekend can be quite busy.
Visited 2 April 2025. Just as beautiful as when I visited the first time in 2019. Lovely long stream with cherry blossoms canopy and decorations. This time, we had time to eat from the stalls set up for the festival.
Snoop E — Google review
At around 3pm on 25 March, 2025, our party of 12 people came. We didn’t see any cherry blossoms. What we saw was one of our members helping an elderly with her cart crossing a bridge where we posed for a group photo, it was so heartwarming.
Peter C — Google review
Absolutely worth visiting in Jinhae at any time during the cherry blossom season (and quite honestly there’s no much in the area for food, cafes and bars/karaoke at any time of the year). We decided to stay in Jinhae to have more flexibility and peace about visiting the stream and the whole suburb is covered in cherry blossom trees! There were more people around during the day on tours, but the lights reflect off the flowers and stream’s water at night, so really night is a completely new experience alongside the street food and stalls. It’s day 1 of the festival today and we will be back for the flowers in full blossom one day. We loved it here!
Jason T — Google review
I visited during the cherry blossom festival this year with a tour group and I would highly recommend the tour for this because I primarily travel with the the subway and this allowed me to take their bus to this location and back to Busan. It was also a good mix of guided / planned time and wandering around to investigate whatever peaked my interest. I travel solo and the rest of the tour group provided social interaction for a day which I enjoyed. I booked it on the Klook site and the name of it was "Jinhae Pink Cherry Blossom Festival Tour from SEOUL / BUSAN". There was plenty to do at this destination, snacks, photo ops, drinks, and local restaurants.

The Most Beautiful Place on Earth – Yeojwacheon Cherry Blossom Festival in Jinhae I had the absolute privilege of visiting Yeojwacheon during Jinhae’s cherry blossom season, and I can say without exaggeration—it is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. The entire stream was lined with endless rows of cherry blossoms, their petals dancing in the breeze like pink snow. The sight was breathtaking, something out of a dream or a movie scene. It’s no wonder people from all over the world found their way here. What amazed me the most was not just the scenery, but how international the atmosphere felt. I overheard languages from all over—English, Chinese, Japanese, French. It made me wonder: how did people from so many different countries hear about this hidden gem in Korea? It’s a testament to just how globally beloved the Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival has become. The crowds were large, yet everyone seemed to be in a peaceful and joyful mood, taking in the natural beauty with wide eyes and camera phones constantly snapping. What’s even more remarkable is that it wasn’t just Yeojwacheon that was celebrating—the entire district of Jinhae felt like a massive, vibrant festival. Every street was decorated, food stalls were everywhere, local music filled the air, and people wore smiles that reflected the joy of spring. It felt like the whole city had come alive to celebrate the arrival of cherry blossoms. I’ve traveled to many places, but Jinhae during cherry blossom season is something else entirely. It’s not just a place to take pretty photos—it’s a place to feel wonder, to share beauty with strangers, and to be reminded of how magical nature can be. I can’t recommend it enough. If you ever get the chance, this is an experience you don’t want to miss.
Junghoon Y — Google review
Worth the travel and anticipation, everything was truly magical! 🌸🌸🌸 The Cherry Blossom Festival was an enchanting experience that beautifully captured the essence of spring. The trees were in full bloom, creating a breathtaking canopy of pink and white petals that seemed to stretch endlessly across the park. The atmosphere was vibrant yet peaceful,l everyone was coming together to celebrate the fleeting beauty of the blossoms. The sense of both locals and tourists were astounding. Everyone was in high spirits, sharing smiles and conversations with strangers, all united by the beauty of the blossoms. The festival did get quite crowded, especially in the afternoon, making it difficult to find a good spot for viewing the trees or participating in some of the activities. Arriving early is definitely recommended to fully enjoy the experience.

Beautiful place to take a walk during the cherry blossom festival ✨
Chloe C — Google review
To anyone looking for a place to enjoy, relax and feel the spring vibe (especially for people living in a tropical country like me where there is only hot, hotter, and hottest type of weather), this river is the right one for you. We went there during the full bloom season of cherry blossoms and my experience is priceless. It was raining in the evening upon our arrival but it only added to the mood that I was feeling - excited. The river is a long one so make sure to see all the stops there and the food stalls around it sells tasty and affordable korean dishes. There are various coffee shops available too for any coffee lover out there so you won't have to worry about that. Make sure to come and visit this river of you happen to be in Jinhae and let me know what you felt.

A beautiful Unesco world heritage destination. The temple itself is quite large and I was lucky enough to hear a prayer during my time there. The walking path to the temple (if you don't have a car) is about 1.2km and is a very easy walk along the river. There were quite a few people when I went but other than that it was a good time. Entrance fee for adults is 3,000 won

History is a virtue and should never be forgotten. 457 years of history lies at this very place. It is the second largest Buddhist temple shrine in South Korea. This place feels very holy and rich with culture and is visibly shown in the architecture. Please visit this site when you are in Korea.

Ulsan Grand Park is a large, beautifully maintained green space that offers something for everyone. There are plenty of walking and cycling routes, open areas to relax, and various activities spread throughout the park. It’s clean, peaceful, and full of life — you’ll see people walking their dogs, families enjoying picnics, and school groups on outings. Especially now, with the trees turning vibrant shades of red and gold, it’s the perfect place to enjoy the crisp autumn air.

Rose Park is situated inside Ulsan Grand Park, near to the south gate. This place gets beautifully decorated during rose festival, generally in the month of May. During Christmas also, the park is open for visit. Small stalls with different handicrafts and street foods will surely attract you. A nice picnic spot with family and friends; kids will enjoy the playground and open space. The park and washrooms are clean. Easy to reach through public transport. The parking system is good. This is a great place to visit anytime of the day or night. If you are going for a morning walk there are exercise machines to use not far from the lake. Also there are places to sit down and have a picnic with the family on the weekend. There are some stalls located at the entrance of the park. And on the other side of the lake. Great places for photos. There's a windmill there. Also if you keep walking through the park there's a very good war memorial with some old military aircraft and tanks. A must see is the main memorial really a good place for remembrance. If in Ulsan this is a MUST see park.

The architecture is stunning: intricate woodwork, bright dancheong patterns, and centuries-old pagodas that somehow feel both grand and humble. Even with other visitors around, it never loses that sense of serenity. The views are also incredible. The temple sits high enough that you can see the forested hills rolling out below, especially if you take a short hike up behind the complex. It’s the perfect balance of culture and nature. Whether you’re into history, photography, or just looking for a peaceful place to recharge, Beomeosa Temple is a must-see in Busan. It’s not just a visit - it’s an experience that stays with you.

Beautiful and serene temple. The surrounding countryside was stunning with the autumn leaves. Be sure to walk back to the metro - it's an easy walk and the view is splendid.

Amazing temple on the top of a mountain near Busan city center. You can take a bus that leaves you at the door. Many buildings conform this temple that for sure will enjoy wandering around in the middle of nature. Highly recommended visit at anytime
Victor R — Google review
Quite a big temple complex with multiple buildings (ci 10). Partially closed when people are meditating, but almost everything is accessible. There is also a nice little garden at the foot of the complex with memorial animals / plaques. Can easily spend 1-1.5 hours here. Little tourist shop sell statues and arm braces and such. I combined this with visit to seokbulsa temple, which in my view is much more impressive.

Easy inexpensive access from the city by subway and bus. Atmospheric peaceful visit in a snow storm. I think it's a must do on a visit to Busan.

Historic Park of Geoje POW Camp

Mentioned on

Historical place museum
Sights & Landmarks
The Historic Park of Geoje POW Camp is a museum that was once a Korean War prisoner camp. The exhibits and dioramas provide insight into the daily life of captives during wartime. The museum offers entertainment such as a zipline, making it an ideal destination for families and locals interested in learning about North-South Korea war times history. Although some information is available only in Korean, the displays engage visitors with an interesting presentation of historical events.
Actual Korean war POW camp built between two mountains on the Geoje island to discourage POW soldiers to try to escape. There are many relics and remakes covering the grounds. We went as a family with young kids, guide map suggested 1 hour but actually it will take about 1 day to see everything in details. There is a monorail, although a bit expensive but is worth the trip as it will take you up to the top of the mountain to see the whole island in 360 view. There is a bit of walk hike once there and bring a jacket as it will be really cold. Once you finish and return back down, you will go thru the musuem backwards. Optional costing extra and not included in the musuem entry fee, to pay at the individual exhibit entry door: - 4D movie theatre - VR virtual reality game - magic mirror There is a mobile app to download and listen to audio of each exhibit. I found because my andiord phone is not korea based, I cannot install the "Goeje POW 360 Go" app. I have to manually google for the apk file and manually install. Search for "거제 pow go 365 apk"

We just buy tickets at the entrance when we arrived. There's plenty of parking spaces at the front and there's no people there when we went in a weekend morning. The place is huge with loads of information to learn and explore about Korean war, their difficulties that we faced last time etc. For non-speaking Korean, it's a bit pain as you need to use the translate in order for you to read and understand and enjoy the whole thing as no information provided in English. We went there twice in a gap of maybe about 6-8months because the first time we went the cable car ride was closed. So the second time we went just to enjoy the cable car ride up and the view was amazing! Recommended to come at least once especially you're interested to know more about Korean war and history.
Maz — Google review
It’s definitely worth the visit if you like to learn more about the Korean war. This place is very informative but it lacks translation here and there. It could also use a little touch up to make it more attractive for the public. Problem: tickets are sold at the entrance via an automated system but it’s only in Korean! You can’t switch the language to English. Parking is not free and costs 2,000 Won. Entrance fee per adult is 7,000 Won Wheelchair accessible! Kid friendly.
Gerry G — Google review
Theme park with rather stereotypical dioramas scattered with historical photos and a variety of war items on display, some with no substantial connection to the camp. Unfortunately, the opportunity to develop a systematic didactical and scientific based approach has been missed leaving the visitors with a random caleidoscope of scattered facts. Also, the exhibits are not particularly well maintained.
S H — Google review
The Historic Park of Geoje POW camp site showcases a recreation of the camp conditions under which North Korean and Chinese POWs captured by UN forces during the 1950-53 Korean War lived under. A visit can take up an entire day, especially if you stop to look at the various exhibits in detail. Particular mention is made of how there were divisions between the prisoners (I.e. over the question of whether to be sent back to mainland China, to Taiwan, or a third state among the Chinese prisoners). If you've enjoyed the 2003 novel "War Trash", a visit to Geoje POW camp historic site will bring the scenes mentioned in the novel to life. A taxi here from Gohyeon bus terminal should cost you less than 6000 won. You can buy tickets at the main entrance - credit card or cash is fine. There is a food court on site - the building it is housed in also serves as the terminus for the monorail ride up to Gyeongsan. The monorail costs 18,000 won per pax and takes 30 minutes to go up/down respectively. Well worth riding - wear a jacket and use the restroom as the mountain summit is very cold.
Tk S — Google review
This place was more interesting than I though. If you're on this island give this place a try. Learn about Korean War, the prisoners and the hardships of war. Try the zipline and let children explore history in an easy way. If you have time (I didn't) take the monorail to the top of the mountain for an amazing view.
Melline G — Google review
Good place for family, especially local Korean. Good to know the history of North-South Korea war times, but some of the information is in Korean only. Even videos does not have any subtitles. The zipline was awesome too as not many museum kind of place have this kind of entertainment.
Eddie H — Google review
Maybe a little repetitive but nicely set out with English sub titles most of the way. Some interactive displays and some stuff especially for the kids. I visited on a sub freezing day in way off peak season and feel that the 7000 Won was well spent... There is also a zip line type ride and mini roller coaster at additional cost...

Daewangam Park, one of the twelve sights of Ulsan, offers a serene forest trail through a 100-year-old pine grove that provides an aromatherapeutic experience. The park features Ulgi Lighthouse and a coastal trail connecting to Seuldo Island with stunning views of mysterious rocks and the vast East Sea. Legend has it that the park's name comes from a Silla dynasty consort buried under a rocky island who vowed to protect the country as a dragon even in death.
Great park, perfect for the family. There are spem several trails you can explore and there are certain attractions or sights to see such as the bridge, lighthouse, the dragon shape islands, and rock formations by the coast. There are also places to eat, shop and playground for kids.

Daewangam Park, with its striking beauty and mythic past, is more than just a scenic spot. This park is absolutely stunning, and there's no better time to experience its beauty than at sunrise. Walking through the park in the coolness of a summer morning, before the heat of the Korean summer kicks in, is truly refreshing. The calm atmosphere and the fresh morning sea air make it a perfect start to the day.An ideal place for pet lovers with a walking trail and a rocky beach.

Great views when you go during sunset time. Do note that there is a closing time also as well.  We were the last few groups allowed to go in, and there weren't many people behind us. It does take a short walk also as well to reach the suspension bridge, but nothing that is too physically taxing.

Absolutely stunning park with nature enveloping every corner and captivating viewpoints. The Hanging Bridge and Sea Bridge stand out as the park's highlights, adding an extra layer of beauty. The cleanliness and excellent maintenance, coupled with the unbelievable free entry, make it a must-visit for nature enthusiasts and casual hikers. Ulsan's gem of nature indeed!

Daewangam Park has a fantastic hanging bridge with a great view of the beach. The area has a god cool weather as it is located in a foggy area in Ilsan Beach. The suspension bridge is only one way. The exit is different way, so take the most memorable photos for your reference. You can see a big dragon statue where a small playground has slides for children to play. NO Entrance fee. It's free It is very convenient, nearby restaurants and coffee and hotels, Ilsan Beach is good to add to your activities.

Gamcheon Culture Village is a vibrant and picturesque attraction in Busan, South Korea. The village features colorful houses, painted murals, shops, and cafes. Nestled along the slopes of a seaside mountain, this village stands out amidst the modern skyscrapers of Busan. Originally inhabited by refugees during the Korean War, it remained underdeveloped until its revitalization in 2009.
Definitely a place worth visiting in person, the photos online really don’t do it justice! The walk up has a few uphill climbs, but it’s honestly not too bad, and every bit of effort is rewarded once you reach the top. The view of the village is absolutely stunning, peaceful, colorful, and full of charm. You can really take your time exploring the little alleys, enjoy the fresh air, and soak in the atmosphere. It’s one of those spots that feels even better in real life than it looks in pictures. A great place to relax, take photos, and just enjoy the scenery.

Such a colorful and artistic place to explore! 🎨 The whole village feels like a giant open-air gallery with amazing murals, cute cafés, and lovely spots for photos. The view from the top is breathtaking, especially under the clear blue sky. Sitting on the yellow moon with The Little Prince statue was such a fun moment! 🌙 Definitely a must-visit when in Busan — full of charm, creativity, and great memories. 💛

What an amazing village. Originally a settlement for Korean War refugees, it has been transformed into a vibrant arts and culture area with cafés, workshops. Locals also still lives there. You can get lost for hours admiring all pieces of arts and colours. It is quite busy but it's totally worth it Map is recommended if you want to get to specific highlights

A real tourist attraction not to be missed including all the shops you get as you walk along the paths. Wear comfortable shoes and prepare your knees for the up and down and over and back up again. Still loved it. I came on a day tour so consider those tours for Busan
Shena D — Google review
Gamcheon Culture Village is so spectacular and an absolute must see. We weren't aware of the opening time of the shops so arrived reasonably early in the morning. This however turned out to be excellent for us as the village was quiet. We met lots of friendly locals out exercising and had access to the prominent photo spots for ourselves. At one stage we sat outside the sports building, located at the top back of the village. From the top of the building, there is a viewing platform. It was not meant to open until 9am however the extremely kind staff in the building let us in and gave us a personalised escort to the roof. We had access to the whole area ourselves! The village is free to visit and is open all the time. The shops and eateries however don't open until 9am. By the time we finished taking in the views, the shops and other tourists began to arrive. This gave us a good chance to shop for souvenirs and take in more of the atmosphere. To me the village is an absolute must see!

Absolutely worth visit! Lots of super cute cafes, Lookouts, Photos spots and souvenir shops. I would allow at least a couple of hours to really take your time and explore, and go either very early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the crowds. Easy enough to get a taxi in and out.
Erin O — Google review
This place is absolutely gorgeous even though it is very busy with tourists. There are cars driving up the path (which pedestrians share with vehicles). There are a lot of incline steps or slopes. Any photo spots are just full of people with the worst waiting line spot being the little prince amd fox looking out (that was 20+ mon waiting time, a security staff will manage the queue). There are plenty of souvenir shops and cafes.

I went here on a beautiful sunny day on my first day in Busan. The views were amazing, the sun was there but the wind felt cool. I stopped by this handmade souvenir shop and bought this cute little lobster keychain and the woman who ran the store gave me a four leaf clover charm as a gift. Gamcheon has been so lovely and I hope I can see it again someday.

BIFF Square, located in Busan, is a vibrant area known for its first-run movie theaters, street food stalls, and handprints of famous Korean actors. This district has been revitalized to support the growth of Korea's film industry. At night, the square comes alive with numerous street food tents offering popular Korean snacks like tteokbokki and dakkochi. Additionally, it is conveniently situated near various markets and shopping outlets.
It's a buzzing night markets full of street foods, and also a shopping street, with variety of brands and shops. Had the famous hotteok here, and it didn't disappoint, loved it so much! And the street foods look appealing and of course we have tried a few different types of food, chicken skewer, dumplings, fishcakes, tteokbokki etc. it was satisfying.

Interesting place to walk around in Busan. As a traveler I have been many places and the venders here are not too pushy, therefore you feel comfortable and safe. Boy do they have a lot of stuff!!! Don't bother with the jello ball, it was so weird!!! It's like jello covered in peanut butter powder or something, just a scam. The pastry fried and filled with seeds and honey, now that was good!! You can get it with cheese and honey or just honey. Very worth it, very cheap. We also tried the dumplings, very good.

Yongdusan Park, located in downtown Busan, is a sprawling mountain park spanning 69,000 square meters. The park boasts over 70 species of trees and is adorned with various stone statues depicting Korean heroes. One of its main attractions is the iconic Busan Tower, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Visitors can explore galleries and souvenir shops inside the tower or leave a love lock as a romantic gesture.
It’s incredible that the entrance of this park is right in the middle of the street. 2/4 escalators didn’t work so there were quite some stairs to climb. The park is very clean, there are swing benches and even on the way there is an outdoor “gym”. At the top, you can find Busan tower.
Priyanka R — Google review
The park is quite clean and not many people were there. Escalator was functioning going up the hill where the Busan tower is. Quite high. I think it’s like 5-6 times of the escalator size in the photo. With the escalator, the journey going up wasn’t bad and took less than 10mins. Going down is just via stairs and quite fast. Lovely place up there. Took a break on the swing enjoying the humid weather and spent a little while taking photos. Once you’re up on the hill, there’s like small colourful shops selling souveniors etc. Some were closed when we were there. Spent like about half and hour or so. Great view and it was okay if you have extra time to spend in Busan.

It is a park consisting of a small hill that passes through the entrance of the old American Cultural Center and passes through the Central Cathedral. Nearby are Daecheong-dong, Nampo-dong, Gwangbok-dong, Bupyeong-dong, Jagalchi and International Market. The Yongdusan Tower, which was completed when I was in middle school, was a landmark of Busan at the time, but now it can be said to be a place of memories. There is an escalator leading to Nampo-dong, making it convenient for the elderly to visit.

Jagalchi Market is a world-renowned seafood market located on the edge of Nampo Port in Busan. It offers an abundance of fresh seafood, including live, dried, and pickled varieties. The market is famous for its multi-story building housing live fish vendors and restaurants, as well as outdoor market alleys filled with the aroma of seafood. Established after the Korean War, it is known for its high number of female fishmongers and is a must-see destination for curious travelers.
Came across this stall on level 2 and the owner could speak chinese so it was a very seamless and pleasant experience having our dinner here 🙂 Knowing that we are a little scared about ordering sashimi, she accommodated to us by allowing us to order an even smaller portion to try out 😊 The food came out to be very fresh, even for the ingredients in the stew 😌 Would highly recommend this store!! 🙂 We really enjoyed the whole experience as it could get very overwhelming for some with the amount of options available here 🥶
Li H — Google review
During our 4-day, 3-night stay in Busan, we ended up having brunch and lunch twice at this spot. Yes, it was that good! We went all out with the seafood (i.e: king crab, snow crab, live octopus, spicy raw crab, and of course, Korea’s signature delicacy; abalone - both grilled and in porridge form). We highly recommend the steamed king crab. It’s a must-try! And if you’re ordering the abalone porridge, pair it with the spicy raw crab. The flavors truly complement each other. Since we shared everything among the four of us, the cost was surprisingly affordable, and we ate like royalty.

Jagalchi Market is one of those Busan Things to Do. The seafood market on the ground floor is fun for tourists to explore and take photos of the live wiggly seafood. The upstairs contains all the food stalls and dry seafood vendors. There are about 50 food stalls and seating for thousands. It is built to cater to tourists. We were there for a late lunch/early dinner at about 4pm on a dreary October Thursday, so it was pretty empty. We were hungry and decided to to try a Jagalchi food stall. FWIW, we chose Food Stall No. 9 "Yong Gong" because the old lady seemed nice. We ordered fresh grilled eel and seafood onion pancake, plus drinks. Well, the seafood was fresh (but I always select places where the seafood is supposed to be fresh (unless it is something like a McDonald's filet-o-fish sandwich) and I am rarely disappointed. Any place that sells marginal seafood does not last long. The total price of KRW76,000 was one of our three highest priced meals during our trip. Not outrageous, but we ate at a small seafood restaurant in a back alley near Gwangalli for about the same price and that meal and dining experience was a superb 5*. If comparing the two places, I would only give Jagalchi 3*. But I got a touristy photo proving that I was there, so that counts for something.
K J — Google review
Downstairs is the fresh market, upstairs is the restaurant. You can buy stuff downstairs and they can cook it upstairs or you can just go upstairs and order from the menu and they'll cook it all for you, which is what my mom and I did. It's easier. All the restaurants upstairs almost sells all the same things, but we opted to go to stall 41 named Chung Cheong do. Owned by an older couple very nice. They didn't pressure you to buy! Because it can get overwhelming. They just explained what the menu was and what they can do for you. We really like this place because if you order the sashimi, you get a soup with it. They'll boil the fish and the bone into the spicy soup shown in the picture. Everything was very fresh very delicious and my mom is a picky eater so she knows quality. We came back to the same place for late lunch and ordered the clams and steamed king crab!

There are some local seafood stores outaide the Jagalchi Marjet building, these are more for people to buy seafood for home cooking. The onsode of the Jagalchi market has many seafood stores and you are able to select seafood of your choice and be sent upstairs for cooking (it requires additional cooking fee). The cooking fee is standardised across all kitchen and generally the seafood shop have their recommended one (so you can't really choose which stall to kitchen to cook for you). There is a seating fee of 5000 WON per person; seafood steaming is 10000 WON, other cooking style is 20000 WON. Most seafood store owners can speak soke broken engly, communication isn't too difficult. It was a fun experience to shop around, seeing fresh seafood in a wet market. There are a great selection of local seafood that are often unheard of overseas.
Alice — Google review
I am from a coastal town so the market wasn't anything new for me, dishes that were unique to the South Korea was something to see. We were a large group and took a walk around teg market with our guide. Noticed that not all stall owners were friendly, I agree that if we are not buying why stand in front of their stall and waste time. But a few of them were darlings and explained all the dishes that can be made with them. I met a a few extremely friendly people at the market.
Mallika J — Google review
Very touristy destination but we found that prices weren't too unreasonable. The ground floor has many seafood vendors, and once you pick one you can ask for it to be cooked and served upstairs. All the vendors have pretty much the same variety of seafood, so you just need to pick your favourite in terms of prices and communication. Overall very enjoyable, just need to be aware of tourist pricing.

During the day, Haeundae is vibrant and bustling with people enjoying various marine leisure activities such as swimming, surfing, and paddleboarding. The fine sand and shallow water make it ideal for families. Evening & Night Charm: At sunset, Haeundae’s appeal reaches its peak. The lights from the Marine City skyscrapers and the night view of Gwangan Bridge reflect on the water, creating a spectacular scene. Gunam-ro Culture Square, located behind the beach, comes alive every night with busking performances and street food, offering a lively and exciting nightlife. Must-Visit Nearby Spots: Dongbaekseom Island (동백섬): Located at the western end of the beach, this island features a beautiful walking trail that circles the area. You can see the Nurimaru APEC House (a symbol of Busan), a mermaid statue, and a lighthouse. Visiting around sunset is highly recommended. The Bay 101 (더베이 101): This marina near the entrance of Dongbaekseom Island offers breathtaking views of the Marine City skyline at night. Enjoy beer and fish and chips while experiencing one of Busan’s best photo spots. This is the biggest and most famous beach in the Busan area. I come here every time I’m in Busan and always enjoy my time. I think it’s best to visit during sunset. Since it’s hard to catch a taxi around this area during rush hour, taking the subway to and from the beach is the best choice.

Haeundae Beach is one of those famous spots you have to see once. It’s clean, easy to access, and has a great boardwalk with cafés and restaurants nearby. But it can get kind of cloudy in the fall, which takes away some of the vibes. Still, the view of the ocean with the skyline behind it is beautiful, and there’s something nice about just walking along the sand with a coffee in hand. Go early morning or at sunset for the best experience.

Its location by the ocean adds to its charm, providing a serene and tranquil atmosphere.
It was a beautiful experience! The hike up to the Temple was not at all bad, very good exercise, plus the beautiful scenery was distracting when anything was too steep. The view from the top was so amazing. I highly recommend visiting and just taking a moment to reflect.

Haedong Yonggungsa is the "most beautiful temple" in South Korea. At least that is what the sign says. We caught bus 1001 from Gwangan Station for the easy 48 minute ride to this seaside temple. This was one of our rare sunny days during our trip, so the temple and ocean lookrd particularly beautiful and colourful. It is very popular so there were crowds of people. Taking a photo while posing with the big gold Buddha was the touristy thing to do.

Based on your question, here is information on Haedong Yonggungsa Temple (해동 용궁사). It is a famous and beautiful Buddhist temple located in Gijang-gun, Busan, South Korea. What makes it very special is its location. Unlike most Korean temples, which are built deep in the mountains, Haedong Yonggungsa is one of the few temples built right on the rocky coastline, offering stunning views of the ocean. Key Features * Seaside Location: The temple's main draw is its dramatic setting by the sea. You can hear the waves crashing as you explore the grounds. * Haesu Gwaneum Daebul (Sea Goddess Buddha): It is a sacred place that honors the Sea Goddess Buddha of Mercy, who is believed to live by the sea and ride on a dragon. * The 108 Steps: To get to the main temple area from the entrance, you must walk down a long staircase with 108 steps, which represent the 108 earthly desires in Buddhism. * Sunrise Views: It is a very popular spot to watch the sunrise, especially on New Year's Day. * Motto: The temple is known for its motto, "At least one of your wishes will be answered here through sincere prayers." Brief History * Original Temple: It was first built in 1376 during the Goryeo Dynasty by a monk named Naong Hyegeun. * Destruction: The original temple was destroyed by fire during the Japanese invasions in the late 1500s. * Rebuilding: It was rebuilt in the 1930s and later given its current name, which means "Palace of the Dragon King of the East Sea." It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Busan due to its unique beauty.

A stunning seaside temple with dramatic ocean views and ornate traditional architecture — a great spot for photos and watching the sunrise. The grounds are full of statues, lanterns and winding stairways, so be ready to climb a lot of steps. It’s extremely popular and can get very crowded, especially on weekends and holidays — go early if you want quieter time to enjoy the scenery.

We went there on a rainy day. Very lucky, in the way, not a lot of tourists. This beautiful temple is back to a “temple-ly” mood: astonishingly tranquil. Everything looked more majestic in the rain storm. We were soaked, and stoked. It’s public transit friendly, with a easy short hike up.
Echo B — Google review
It's a beautiful temple on a picturistic location but if you are travelling with a group and tight on time you won't get to explore the place in peace. I was just running from one shrine to another. So come without being rushed and enjoy every part of the temple. Especially just sit outside this one small shrine where a monk prayers, if there aren't any chatty tourist you shall experience the sound of wind, waves and chanting. You can also offer food grains in the main temple as offering. Just sit somewhere and soak In the beauty and spirituality.
Mallika J — Google review
Haedong Yonggungsa Temple offers a profoundly peaceful and spiritual experience. The serene atmosphere, accentuated by the calming sound of waves, makes it an ideal place for quiet worship and purifying the spirit. The stunning sea views from the temple grounds are breathtaking, creating a perfect harmony of natural beauty and spiritual tranquility.

The Tsushima Wildlife Conservation Center, located on Tsushima Island, is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts. The center offers a unique opportunity to learn about the island's wildlife, including the iconic Tsushima leopard cat. Visitors can explore exhibits showcasing the ecology of these elusive creatures and gain insights into their conservation efforts. Additionally, the surrounding area boasts historical landmarks such as gun batteries and watchtowers from the Russo-Japanese War era, adding an extra layer of cultural significance to the visit.

A place where you can see a Tsushima leopard cat if you are lucky. We had the opportunity to see one, but it was sleeping. The exhibition is through glass and you should not use flash on your camera as it will disturb the cats. There is a lot of information about the leopard card, mainly in Japanese but you can use google translate. This center has a very important cause and saves leopard cats. There is also other information about local wildlife. Staff very kindly, as we arrived at 10 minutes before closing and they still let us go. Please pay attention to the closing time- 16:00. Entrance was free.

I love the work that these amazing people do here. They put in their heart and soul to protect the Tsushima Leopard cat. It's a small but very informative centre and there's a leopard cat you can see. They have lots of information on display about the local wildlife and protection. It's very child friendly too. They way they show the cats just shows you how much love goes into their work and I truly think that is beautiful.

I personally agree with this because I think that people with bad manners should be banned from anywhere. However, even though it was a peaceful weekday, there was a mini patrol car and two police officers standing next to the shrine. I wonder what that was all about... The shrine itself was very solemn and magnificent. I put in some offerings and prayed for the safety of my family. The torii gate that leads to the sea is picturesque. (Translated by Google) I visited during the Obon period to pay my respects. I noticed a police car waiting on a nearby road and wondered what was going on, but I'll explain that later... By chance, there were few other tourists, so I was able to visit without any problems. It's a simple shrine, with explanatory signs scattered throughout. As I was strolling around the grounds, I heard angry shouts coming from in front of the shrine office. A group of Korean people were being yelled at by the priest (?). It seemed they'd mistakenly entered the entrance to Toyotamahime no Mikoto's tomb, and he was telling them, "If you've taken even one step, put your money in! Put your money in quickly!" Judging from the behavior of the group of tourists, it seemed they really didn't understand, as the instructions were only in Japanese. "Only those who understand the instructions come here! If you don't understand, don't come," they were repeatedly told. I don't think even Japanese people would recognize it at a glance. There's only a box resembling a fortune-telling slip placed next to the shrine office. Afterwards, they continued to wander around the grounds, constantly keeping an eye out for anything of interest. Seeing this, I understood why police are stationed nearby. I'd like to express my sincere thanks to the police for taking turns patrolling the area... But I'm sure the priests have also been troubled by the bad manners of tourists, which is probably why they're so annoyed. However, I'm worried that this may leave a bad impression on Japanese people. It would be great if we could all come to some kind of solution, such as not treating first-time visitors rudely, clearly indicating the way forward, hiring guide staff to be on-site, or posting large notices in foreign languages. It's difficult, isn't it?

One of the best natural history museums I've visited. As you enter you're met with a big collection of stag beetles. The dinosaur skeletons and mammoth skeletons were amazing . There was an awesome exhibit of nautilus fossils, a good collection of minerals and crystals - I'm a huge fan. A very well curated artefacts on the history of Japan, with lots of information on the different samurai clans. Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 hrs visit.

This has been the most mindblowing museum we have ever been to. The amount of information and the interactive exhibitions are truly exceptional! If you are ever in Fukuoka this is just one stop in the bullet train back in the direction of hiroshima. So you can be there in about 20 minutes. The dinosaurs are in the main hall and there are so many and so big that it's almost impossible to fit them in a proper photo. The only thing we regret was not going earlier as we didn't have time to buy anything in the gift shop because it was closing already. There were lots of things that were worth buying.

The Kitakyushu Museum of Natural History & Human History is a great museum that covers both ecology and history of Kitakyushu. The museum has a large area talking about how the earth was formed and how creatures evolved until now. For this part, they are doing well like other museums. After this section, then they focus more on both ecology and history of Kitakyushu. Overall, it is a very good museum and you will properly spend 1-2 hours there. During my last visit, the building was renovating outside but they have provided arrow signs to guide visitors to the entrance.

Great experience of visit, especially if you are really into Geography and history I’m sure you will gain a lot of knowledge. Not only serves merely information about the past, prehistoric period, it has the live attraction movie-like except it has the robot that similar the real dinosaurs about how dinosaurs live in the past, although the explanation given in japanese i was astonished by how they managed to make the visitors get the insights.
Vimeleonora — Google review
It is a museum that displays not only skeletal specimens, but also stuffed specimens, models, and dioramas in a variety of ways. The museum is very large, and it would take about two hours just to tour it in a normal way. The explanations are simple but to the point, and the tour is well-paced. In the latter half of the museum, there is an introduction to old Japanese culture, which is very interesting. There are many exhibits that can be touched as well as seen, so children can have fun.

Takeo City Library is a popular tourist spot in Takeo City, known for its modern building and unique features. The library underwent a major renovation in 2013 and now houses a Tsutaya bookstore and even a Starbucks, making it stand out from traditional libraries. Visitors have described the space as more akin to a large bookstore rather than a typical public library. It has been recognized as one of the most beautiful libraries globally, featuring an iconic elongated curved bookshelf on the second floor.
The building is magnificent and the interior is comforting. You can order a Starbucks coffee plus cake, and then enjoy yourself in reading. The atmosphere here is warm and quiet, very Japanese style. If you stay in the city for a day or two, you can take a morning walk to here and the nearby shrine, and enjoy a great me-time here.

There are only two spots in the library where you can take photos in order not to disturb others, so pls keep in mind.

Very beautiful library. I visited during spring but the building a bit warm and heated. Worth to stop a few hours on the route to Nagasaki from Fukuoka. There is another cute kid library next door. Can visit nearby shrine.

I’ve never had a library on my to do list on any free weekend but the Takeo library found it’s way on there last month. First off, what really allured me into going there was air conditioning. Yep, if you haven’t spent a summer in Kyushu then you haven’t felt real heat and humidity…seriously worse than the swamps of Florida or the stickiness of Singapore. The kind of heat you just know is disrespecting you on purpose. Anywho, I wanted to do an indoor activity and this was the perfect place to lounge around for hours and look at books I can’t read because they’re in Nihongo, but the pictures were dope. But the library also speaks the universal language of coffee so enjoy some Starbucks, skim through the magazines while your sweaty shirt dries.
Alanglen49 — Google review
In 2013, Takeo City entrusted the operation to Culture Convenience Club (CCC), which operates Japan's largest franchise bookstore, Tsutaya. CCC's operational know-how, introduced in Korea through a book titled "Tsutaya, the Place Where Tastes Are Designed," has permeated Takeo Library. CCC President and CEO Muneaki Masuda is famous for transforming a bookstore that sells books into a comprehensive lifestyle shop that offers books and music and suggests lifestyles. He achieved great success by instilling "sensibility," which is often mentioned among the younger generation, into a bookstore. Like Tsutaya Bookstore, CCC increased the number of open bookshelves in Takeo Library and introduced a bookstore, cafe, etc. The operating hours have been extended from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and the library is open 365 days a year so that people can use it at any time.
Platinum G — Google review
Shouldn’t say it is a library or book shop, it should be treat as an art space of books. Photo are only allowed in designated area to preserve quite environment for library user. Book shops and Starbucks are mix with the library itself. Fun experience.
Martin C — Google review
Saw this library in the list of most beautiful libraries in the world. I haven’t really been to any and this is the first one. Indeed it was beautiful. I don’t know though if it’s worth it to travel all the way just to see the library and eat/drink Starbucks. Ahaha. But what I did was also go to Takeo Onsen. That way, travelling to Takeo itself becomes a proper trip.

The garden features a teahouse and statues depicting the 500 disciples of Buddha, creating a serene and culturally rich atmosphere.
Awesome ticketed park to visit during Autumn Leaves Festival. Fall scenery is picturesque and Instagram picture perfect. Like taking a page out of a beautifully painted painting with rich and vibrant colours that entices your eyes & brain. Basically two routes to take one within half hour and another about 40 minutes. The later is much more beautiful with upward slope climb, while it would be quite challenging for elderly and young kids. There are tea house and restaurant location within the park if you fancy it. This is definitely a park to come to to spend 1-2hrs, with history of emperor’s favourite place he visit, wonderful vibrant red, yellow & green mixture that blow your mind away.

There are almost no reviews about the team labs part of this hotel. I’m here to change that. This destination was on my want to go ever since I went to TeamLabs PLANETS in Tokyo. We walked into the hotel and were blown away by the stunning art pieces. We enjoyed delicious complimentary welcome drinks under the lanterns. Then, we began to explore the art pieces in the ruined parts of the hotel. Many don’t understand that the ruined parts of the hotel are not under construction, they are remnants of an old onsen that was operational in the 60s and the 70s. It’s not under construction, it was internationally left to ruin. That’s why the teamlabs art pieces play with that, leaving an interesting vibe, new art pieces interacting with the old ruins. This made for an otherworldly, albeit beautiful vibe, reminiscent of a post apocalyptic kind of feeling. The onsen itself was spectacular. It was absolutely stunning, with fireplace rooms with snacks, multiple hot pools and cold plunge pools, and various steam rooms and saunas. You are missing out if you go. The architecture is Scandinavian inspired, with beautiful, big windows in an open garden. And finally, the teamlabs park itself: we went at night, and the details were stunning. I was transported to another world, where azalea bushes glowed like ocean waves, and where digital koi swam in a giant pond.

Mifuneyama Rakuen, a renowned 500,000-square-meter Japanese garden at the base of Mount Mifune in Takeo, Saga Prefecture, offers stunning seasonal vistas, including vibrant spring blooms and autumn foliage. However, the site’s appeal is tempered by evident maintenance shortcomings, such as unchecked overgrowth of creeping vines on mature trees and other unmanaged vegetation, which detract from its pristine aesthetic. Visitors are advised to plan accordingly, prioritizing peak seasons for optimal enjoyment.
J P — Google review
Pleasant garden grounds, featuring a quaint bit murky pond, plus a grand mountain face overseeing proceedings within the garden below. Team Lab collaboration currently on, but only seems to be at night, and even the day time exhibition in the bathhouse ruins was closed. There’s a significant walk to a sacred tree on the east side, with the forest path being pretty narrow and somewhat insecure in places, all to end in not very much.
Jason C — Google review
I had a great stay! Beware that if you book a room with a private hot spring, there is a chance you'll have to deal with bugs. Staff were really nice. Food was really good. The hot spring is amazing. Also, you can visit both the hot springs and teamlab for free if you're a hotel guest.
Ellen — Google review
We have been there by night. Very beatiful walk through the iluminated garden.
Arye S — Google review
A beautiful garden full of seasonal flowers. We visited during cherry blossom season, but before full bloom. I felt it really came alive at night with the illuminations. There is also a teamLab exhibition tucked in the hillside that connects with a hotel there. The art is beautiful and worth seeing if you enjoy other similar exhibitions. At first I was shocked that the building seemed so dirty, but it's supposed to be a Ruins exhibition. Also, it's on the smaller side, but I felt the price reflected that. Probably easiest access by car, but there was free parking. I would love to come back and see the azaleas in full bloom, the photos look beautiful.

I wish I read NEW google reviews before planning a whole day excursion here from our cruise. We got there and were convinced we were in the wrong place bc it looked NOTHING like the pics. All those super beautiful pics are from Spring. In the summer there is pretty much trees and green water. We walked part way up and headed back out. Should have gone to that little Dutch village instead :(

Itôzu no mori Park is a unique zoo that offers interactive experiences, kids' rides, a restaurant, and a gift shop. Unlike traditional zoos, the animals here are not confined to one cage or compound. For example, goats can freely move between two compounds and red pandas can travel between outdoor and indoor areas. The use of glass barriers allows visitors to observe the animals up close while ensuring their safety.
What an unexpected gem of a zoo! Although it isn’t the largest, it was clearly renovated recently; almost every enclosure is spacious and well designed, and the animals are some of the healthiest and happiest-looking I’ve seen! A short bus ride from Kokura Station.

Came here with my wife and got to enjoy a very nice park and zoo. Lots of sakura to see when it blossoms too!
Bob N — Google review
I like the concept of the zoo. The animal does not confine to one cage or compound only. Example, the goat can go and back between two compounds and the red panda can travel between outdoor and indoor compounds. The glass separated the visitors and animals also allow the visitors to have a chance to see them at a very close distance. Also, i am not sure if all zoo in japan has the red panda but i am very lucky to see them in this zoo...and yes, they are so cute! Although the zoo is not very big, yet it is good enough to see all the animals and i found them very fat and healthy here.

Nice place, but not really many visitor come at week day, For ticket You should pay ¥800 for adult

This zoo is not too large, but it is great for introducing real animals to children such as tigers, lions, and others. The zoo is designed to provide a safe and educational environment for kids to learn about different species of animals from all around the world. One of the main attractions of the zoo is the harima exhibit, where visitors can see these magnificent creatures up close. Children can also learn about their natural habitat, behavior, and conservation efforts to protect them.
Fikry — Google review
Good place to introduce animals to our children. As usual, like everywhere else in Japan, this place is clean.

I love this zoo, I havevisited here over 10 times and will continue visiting. I highly recommend

This is a very good place for nature lover. Various kind of animals are here. And you can interact with some of them also. Children loves that very much. There is a ferries wheel as well. The view from the top of that is so awesome. The place is very neat and clean as expected from Japan. It's a enjoyable place to be with friends and family.

Yoshinogari Historical Park is a vast archaeological complex showcasing ancient ruins, artifacts, and reconstructed huts. The park comprises an entrance zone with video facilities and restaurants, a southern wing where high-level individuals are believed to have lived, a northern wing associated with the Kuni festival, a bunker settlement zone spanning approximately 20 hectares and featuring three areas, and the Ancient Hara Zone offering various recreations.
Very nice open air museum / park. The signs were translated in english and a nice volunteer guide came to explain some of the history of the place. I saw many families and I agree it's a nice activity for kids, they will love being able to enter the houses.

Phenomenal. So many staff around to guide people. The park is unbelievably clean and well kept. The structures are really authentically recreated and you can enter most of them. They have some museums and other things to do inside the park as well. One of the coolest things I’ve come across in Kyushu.

The park is way bigger than one would expect (maybe) and if you love history, certainly make your way out here. They even have workshops and I loved the one I joined because I love stones. Seeing the Yayoi life in the past was a good experience. You can walk around the park to check out the old houses and the ancient burial. There is a roving bus. There’s a big part of the park that’s good for kids (or so the guide at the community center told me because I didn’t explore that part). Worth visiting!

Relaxing day out from Fukuoka. There’s not a lot of detailed information in English, but the site is very interesting, don’t miss the burial mound. Beautiful views as well.
Chloe A — Google review
It's an extremely large area. The train is about the same distance from Yoshinogari Koen Station or Kanzaki Station. I want to be prepared to walk steadily. It feels good when the weather is nice. You can learn about jar coffins. The experience center is also fun.

Plentiful of open spaces and historical artifacts built to scale. A fun place for the family amidst nature. The park is huge. For a start, take the free shuttle bus to go round the park. Then select places of specific interest to you. Bring along food for a small picnic (there are also provisions for BBQ on site) as the restaurant maybe fully booked up. Enjoy!
Shirley N — Google review
Very cool experience for a visit to the museum or to just have a picnic in the park. The grounds are beautiful and they have daily activities that you can do for an additional fee. Also, they have multiple paid parking lots around the place. It’s huge so plan to do a lot of walking.

The Saga Castle History Museum is a well-presented attraction that features a reconstructed main keep of the original castle built in 1838. As one of Japan's largest wooden reconstructions, it showcases maps, models, and hands-on exhibits from the last years of the Edo Period. The museum provides access to historic exhibitions about local history, nature, key figures and life depicting among others.
I learned so much of the history of Saga. The volunteer guide that accompanied us was fantastic!!! My son who is a history buff got much information from the guide. Everyone there was friendly. Learned the role Saga played in relation to Nagasaki as well as involvement during Meiji uprising. We spent 4+ hours. The “castle” is beautifully restored and one can’t help to wonder the planning and logistics involved in building this castle. There’s no charge for admission or the docent.
Roy G — Google review
The museum is great and is for free. You can view plenty of historical items and descriptions. There are other visuals, like videos and recording available. If you are interested in Japanese history, I can definitely recommend this visit.

I was really surprised at the size and variety of exhibitions in this museum. They have some interactive parts and photo spots. A very nice volunteer gave me a free tour in English so I learned a lot more than I could have by just reading. I really recommend it! Also if you have a JR Pass, show it at the counter to get a free souvenir!
Moni Z — Google review
It's sad that saga castle did not survive the passing of time, the years of neglect, and the numerous fire incidents that eventually brought it down. This museum however encapsulate a great deal of the history surrounding the castle and the region of Saga. A lot of valuable national treasures are enclosed here and valuable history on the first vaccination in Japan, innovations in railway, and the first most advanced school on western education in Japan. The heritage of the Naomasa clan lives on and I am in awe of the history of this place which largely goes unnoticed by most Japanese folks today. Also, a particularly interesting activity to partake in is the digital photography in fictional outfits of the Edo era, the outfits are selected randomly and I was lucky to get the Samurai outfit ^_^

Tosu Premium Outlets

Tosu Premium Outlets, located in Tosu City, Saga Prefecture, is a modern shopping center that opened in 2004. It's known for its easy accessibility from various parts of Kyushu and offers over 170 international and Japanese high-end brands. The outlet features a spacious parking lot and is particularly lively on holidays.
We spent a day exploring Tosu Premium Outlets, and it turned out to be a surprisingly fun part of our Kyushu road trip. Right off the expressway, the parking was huge and free, so unloading bags and diving into stores was a breeze. The open-air layout really impressed us. Everything is set out like a Southern California town—bright white walls, terracotta roofs, and palm-lined walkways. It just feels fresh and airy, a nice change from the usual indoor malls. The weather was lovely too, which made walking from shop to shop feel like a mini vacation. With around 170 brands spread across several categories, we found everything we needed—Western luxury labels like Coach and Michael Kors, sports brands like Nike, and even local Japanese names. I scored some really good deals during seasonal sales, and the outlet also offers tax-free shopping for travelers. While the mall was crowded on the weekend, it never felt overwhelming thanks to its spacious design. If you want to take a breather, there are plenty of seating areas, playgrounds for kids, and even nursing rooms. When hunger hit around lunch, we chose from ramen, fried chicken, pasta, and more in the central food court, which was perfect for a refuel. They also offer free Wi-Fi, coin lockers, and even pet-friendly zones—so everything felt convenient, whether I wanted to work, shop, or walk the dog. If you’re visiting Fukuoka, Nagasaki, or Saga, this outlet is a solid stop—not just for shopping, but for the laid-back, resort-like experience.

Parking: Great parking area if you're driving. There were plenty of parking and the outdoor mall is connected by a bridge. Food: Not bad. Way better than the ones in the USA. Shopping: If you've been to the outlets in the USA, there's no comparison. There weren't many options and the prices are not cheap. Not cheap at all. This is supposed to be an outlet, not a regular shopping mall. I think if you're living in Asia, you'll probably like this place. However, if you're living in the USA, skip this place. It's going to be a waste of time for you.
Duncan C — Google review
If you’re looking for a big outlet with lots of branded shops, this is the one for you! It’s quite a bit of a travel, but definitely worth it. For me, it’s even better than Ships and Lalaport. The only downside (besides the distance) is the long line for food, so it’s best to bring something to eat or have a snack beforehand. Overall, a great place to shop and spend the day! 🛍️
Rafael M — Google review
The usual stores you will find at other Premium Outlets. It’s not as big as the one at Gotemba but still worth a visit. Show your passport and you will get a tax exception on your bill. I was told that next year (2026) you can only get your tax refund at the airport like in most countries. We spend a few hours here and found some nice bargains. I had some of the best burgers ever at the food court.
Marcel B — Google review
The place is nice as a venue, but the outlet prices often didn't differ much (if at all) from regular retail. Didn't buy anything except some Nike shoes – both Nike and Adidas likely will have the more compelling sale prices for shoes. Spent less than an hour here and ended up leaving since there wasn't much for us – definitely can't compare to outlet shopping in Europe. The free parking is a plus though.
Jonathan C — Google review
Good place to shop. Not too crowded and good selwction of brands. Tosu also offered very nice countryside scenery.
Jonathan M — Google review
An absolute shopping paradise. So many great brands at massive discounts—especially during the Golden Week promo! Most shops had 20% off for 3 items or more, and I could also claim a 10% tourist tax rebate. On top of that, many items were already marked down 40–60% off original prices, so the discounts stacked up really well. Scored quality stuff from Onitsuka Tiger, EDWIN, Calvin Klein, GAP, Tommy Hilfiger, and more. Great mix of style and value—definitely worth a trip!

Onta Pottery Village, located about 15 km north of Hita, is a charming vintage village that offers a glimpse into traditional pottery making. The village is deeply connected to its natural surroundings, using river water to grind clay and wood from local shops for kiln fuel. Visitors can witness skilled potters at work in their workshops and explore the handmade pottery studios and shops.
In a walking distance from the village. Small in size but informative. Not to be missed.
Tenny C — Google review
It’s a unique experience, a small village in the middle of the mountains, all houses basically dedicated to the craft, you see then drying the products outside and the shops are inside their homes. Such a local feel, the price range is reasonable with some going cheaper and some more pricey. They got a small free local museum, all the stuff inside is in Japanese though but nice enough to look at. The parking lot by the museum isn’t the biggest, it was quite empty when I got there around 9:30 am but completely full when I left around 11 am. Guess it depends on season and weather but it doesn’t seem like there are any other parking spots around so I suggest arriving earlier if you’re driving :))
Helena W — Google review
We went on a rainy day so we only went to two shops, but the potteries are so nice, we bought some beautiful tea cups. The shops are unattended and you need to ring the bell if you want to buy. They are professional craftsmen busy working in the workshops, not professional customer service employees, so don't be a jerk going in.
M C — Google review
Am a potter hence wanted to visit this place to possibly make some ceramics or buy some unique pieces. However, there were probably only 4-5 shops that were opened, with many store owners being quite nonchalant and products were limited. Not as wide of a range as one would’ve expected. Interesting to still see how they pound the yellow clay using the force of the water. Love the cute (and only food store) soba and udon shop!

When art, tradition, and nature seamlessly fuse, the resulting uniqueness establishes an identity of its own. Originality can't be replicated nor transferred; it exclusively resides within the soul of the creator. This is what it is.

A village dedicated to pottery. Serene and tranquil, located in the middle of mountain and forest. Really nice walking in the village and admiring all the pottery items.

Caught bus from bus station worth doing for scenery and the really interesting story of the pottery village and how it’s made. Needless to say we purchased some pottery which is very reasonably priced.

Beautiful, quiet and a great range of high quality traditional pottery. Items are mostly 1000yen and up (each). If you know what you are interested in and need a beautiful addition to your tableware, you will find it here. Spend just under 10000yen on 5 items.

Mamedamachi Shopping Street is a charming and traditional area, often likened to 'little Kyoto' for its antique and traditional atmosphere. The street is known for its heritage, with shops selling wooden clog shoes and delicious treats like the Sui cheesecake roll. While it may not be widely recognized, it offers a nice shopping experience with various shops and restaurants to explore. Visitors can enjoy a casual stroll through this quaint area, making it a recommended stop for both travelers and tourists alike.
Shops selling soy sauce, yuzu, clogs, umbrellas (more at Daizaifu, not here). Not many shops, can't bargain. Free parking on slope up behind shops

It's a small market but has enough shops to look around and shop. It was interesting to watch traditional drum performance which was unexpected.
