Tranquil lake and come only if you like peace and quiet, else there is nothing much to see and do except taking a boat ride or walking along the banks, admiring some of the poems on the wall.

There is the feeling of urban and rural areas, and the beautiful scenery of mountains and rivers. Designated as a provincial tourist resort in 1994, it is an emerging tourist resort integrating mountains, lakes and cities. Liuye Lake is named because the lake surface resembles a willow leaf. Baofeng Lake

Bodies of Water
Nestled within the Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area, Baofeng Lake, also known as Baofeng Hu, offers stunning water scenery just 3.5 km from the Wulingyuan Sign Gate of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. This tranquil attraction provides a perfect opportunity to unwind amidst nature after a day of hiking in the area. The lake is renowned for its turquoise waters set against picturesque karst landscapes.
I got the coach here as part of my group tour. We went on the boat on the lake which was amazing. The views were breathtaking as it is surrounded by mountains. There were people on the lake who would sing or interact with this which made the experience more interactive. If you're visiting Zhangjiajie, I highly recommend coming to the lake. If you go in the morning there will be less queues for the boats. It is also worth walking around the entrance that leads up to the lake. There you will find a small performance, Monkey King statue, people dresses in traditional Xi'an clothing and a giant salamander enclosure.
Beatriz F — Google review
Scenery is good, for 20 minutes boat ride. We don’t need to queue. There are locals sings while you passed the area. Lake is very clean, deep turquoise color like glass. There is Sun Wu Kong statue near the waterfall and salamander park. It’s cool but I think Tianmen Mountain is more worthy to visit 😉
Viorentina Z — Google review
Sweet little stopover on the way to Zhangjiajie. We were lucky to go on off-peak season, so we didn't have to queue for the shuttle bus up to the lake. The boat trip lasts around half an hour and you drift by beautiful mountain scenes and they have a couple of indigenous boats that have singers serenade you with local songs as you float by. There are also some resident comorants perched up with a fisherman. There is lovely waterfall down the bottom and a pond with salamanders (admittedly it would be nicer to see them in a more suitable enclosure, as they are a lot larger than I imagined!!) It would have been nice to spend more time in the area to appreciate any hikes.
Georgie B — Google review
Really, skip this if you must. Not worth the entrance fee. They do not offer concessional tkts to foreign seniors - a real scam as in general Chinese attractions do not discriminate as such. Even the signboards do not state as such. Short cruise, long queues, smallish lake, sceneries not particularly impressive.
Yeo's S — Google review
If it's compared to the great Tianmen and Tianzi Mountain, Baofeng lake is just ok. The trip was short and there's waterfall nearby, the shooting location from Journey to the West film. If you have tight schedule, you can skip it
Cherryberry — Google review
Do something else. The waterfall, the lake, the everything is made up. The boat ride is 20 mins with 30 seconds of someone singing -which you can barely hear. The staff is nice, but they can only do so much on a lake from a dam. Save your money, just go back to Zangjiajia or Tianmen. Literally anything else in the area is a good us eof your long trip to get here.
Mini R — Google review
Honestly, quite disappointing. The whole thing felt really fake - the actual lake is artificial so it just looks like an unatural flooded valley - becasue it is (and probably caused a ton of environmental damage). And then you go round on the boat past some people in costumes singing, which I know is symbolic and traditional but the way you just go past looking at them feels really inauthentic, like you're on a theme park ride. It was pretty I guess. I went in mid March and all the walking paths were closed, so literally the only thing you can do is go on a 5 minute bus, 20 minute boat and then bus back. There's a waterfall section with museum too but that's so small it can be seen in way less than 30 mins. So for ¥95 (for entry plus boat) it was not good value, felt like an inauthentic theme park and just boring. Wish I'd gone back into Zhangjiajie National Park instead.
Aaron F — Google review
Beautiful, scenic and picturesque lake in Wulingyuan, Zhangjiajie. If you go on a misty day, you can enjoy a Chinese landscape painting coming to life with the ethereal and mythical aura enclosing the locale. This is an artificial fresh-water reservoir created by blocking gorge and building dam in the 1970s

Geologic Formations
Yellow Dragon Cave Kindergarten is a must-visit attraction in Zhangjiajie, China. It boasts gigantic halls and spectacular pathways that leave a lasting impression on visitors. A boat ride along the river adds to the experience. However, there are some concerns about artificial enhancements to the stalagmites and the overwhelming presence of guided tour groups creating a noisy atmosphere. The cave's brightly colored lighting may also give off a Disneyland-like vibe, but it remains an impressive and beautiful underground marvel worth exploring.
Largest underground cave I ever visited my problem with this review is which photos and pictures should I select to put along with this post . It took us 20 min from our hotel to reach to cave area , then very long walk to main entrance of the cave many stories been told by our guide like the 2 doors they believe one for happiness and one for long life , then short boat ride go and back about 10 min, amazing views , huge cave , they put lighting make cave more lively and beautiful should visit is you are in Zhangjiajie .
Ayman N — Google review
Physically challenging, and I won't recommend to anyone with bad knees, unfit or elderly persons. Visited this Yellow Dragon Cave (Huanglongdong) on Monday, 11 March 2024, as the original optional tour "Fairy Fox Show" was cancelled (under renovations). Only a short boat ride (less than 10 mins) inside the cave, but there's a long treacherous walk up and down the narrow, steep, wet, slippery steps uphill and downhill... There's a total of 4 stages of physically demanding walking after the boat ride. Stage 3 is the resting point and short cut to the cave exit. But even that, it's still a long 20-30 mins walk from Stage 3 to the exit. Kindly take note that the "rude" young lady cave Guide will not allow anyone to turn back and drop out, and will try to coax everyone to complete this long physically challenging cave walk.
Wilson C — Google review
One of the world largest stalactites and stalagmites formation in the world inside this cave. It was a large cave and lots of steps like more than 500 steps required to walk thru out with combination of walking and boat ride. Not so special as the lighting rather too much and colorful. Cost RMB 100 per person to enter and do remind yourself it is warm inside the cave especially when you come in winter that you wear lots of winter clothing. Walk for 2.5 hours with guided tour over 4.5km distance can be a challenge for many. Some of the stalactites and stalagmites was huge and there over million of years.. you can skip if you don’t have time to visit as there are many similar one in the world!
Andrew G — Google review
Huanglongdong or Yellow Dragon Cave is a last minute replacement Option to our original Fairy Fox Show (ongoing renovations) under our Zhangjiajie Tour package. I don't recommend this option tour for elderly persons, unfit or anyone with weak knees. There's a long hike thru steep, narrow, and wet stairs (numerous up and down stairs) after the short boat ride. There's NO TURNING BACK. Go at your own risk.
Annie H — Google review
Yellow Dragon Cave is the most beautiful and biggest cave in Zhangjiajie. China likes to put too many lights and colors in a cave, which ruining the natural beauty.

Charming Xiangxi Grand Theatre

Theaters
The Charming Xiangxi Grand Theatre is a must-visit attraction in Zhangjiajie, offering a captivating cultural experience. The theater itself is grand and majestic, resembling a bright city with its classical style. The show features impressive acrobatics, ethnic song and dance performances that showcase the rich culture, art, and folk customs of the Tujia ethnic group.
Charming Xiangxi show is probably one of the most amazing things I've seen. In total they have 28 different performances with each show being just a handful of them. However the show is so beautiful, powerful, emotional and breathtaking. The skills or the performers are amazing and the choreography is as well. The show is split into an indoor and outdoor part. Although I wasn't able to watch the whole of the outdoor show due to heavy rain, what I did watch took my breathe away. The whole show is immersive with the whole of the theatre getting taken over. If you are visiting this area, I highly recommend going to the show. You wouldn't want to miss it!
Beatriz F — Google review
Got our tickets from our tour guide. Didn't want to go at 1st but guide mentioned that we had to watch and he even threw in a money back guarantee. In the end, he was right. The indoor segment had us glued to our seats with the colourful and beautiful routines. The performance had the mixture of story telling, acrobatics and cultural singing with their awesome costumes displayed all at once. Worth every cent! The outdoor segment of the performance was so-so, but still ok to watch due to the costumes
Botak — Google review
The show combines musical masterpieces from across the 5 indigenous cultures of the area. It is beautiful, exhilarating and magical with it's unique songs, energetic stunning and comical acrobatics. They provided English translation for the performances and each performance selects 5 out of the 28 pieces that they have prepared, so each is unique. Definitely worth a visit on an evening to enjoy the local culture after a day in the mountains. We were not fans of the demonstration directly after, as it was VERY LOUD over the speakers and there was no translation for the calligraphy demonstration. That aside, the show is phenomenal and cannot recommend it enough.
Georgie B — Google review
I enjoyed the theater 🎭 so much . Luckily there was translation going on in slides, managed to understand the story . All performance was so eye catching and they all did a fantastic job/show .

Charming Xiangxi (魅力湘西) is a breathtaking theatrical spectacle that brings to life the vibrant cultural heritage of Western Hunan through an immersive blend of song, dance, acrobatics, and storytelling. Set against the dramatic backdrop of Zhangjiajie's natural landscapes, the show offers a multisensory experience that goes beyond entertainment to have a lasting connection with ethnic minority cultures. Directed by Feng Xiaogang, the performance stands out for its authentic portrayal of local ethnic people, "Charming Xiangxi" leaves audiences both exhilarated and deeply moved, making it far more than a cultural show - it's an unforgettable performance not to be missed.
Sam L — Google review
Great theatre and great location right in the centre of town. The booking office is on another building next to the theatre but very conveniently located. The staff are helpful and service is fast.
Mas H — Google review
One of the best show experiences! Worth every penny of the ticket price (which I bought beforehand on Klook). The show separated into 4-5 parts/short stories of folklores. Some can be more interesting than the others but overall is a great experiences. Don't miss it!
Alex H — Google review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The show was amazing! It begins indoors with stunning singing and dancing—definitely worth getting the VIP seats to enjoy the action up close. The narrator only spoke in Chinese, which was a bit limiting if you don’t understand, but the visuals more than made up for it. After the indoor performance, you’re taken outside for a breathtaking finale, including extreme acts like fire throwing! Highly recommend going in the evening, not the afternoon it gets way too hot otherwise. An unforgettable experience overall.

Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon

Mentioned on

Canyons
Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is a breathtaking landmark known for its world-renowned glass bridge, offering stunning panoramic views. The bridge connects two hilltops with a thrilling glass-bottomed section, providing an exhilarating experience for visitors. While the bridge is a major draw, the canyon itself offers much more to explore, including vibrant blue rivers, unique wildlife, and traditional Chinese attractions like slides and boat rides. Visitors can also trek through the valley to witness magnificent rock formations and waterfalls.
I arrived thinking that my ticket to the national park would work here, but it's a separate ticket. I chose line b with the glass bridge. It's an impressive structure and quite cool walking over it. The sightseeing elevator was underwhelming after going down the Bailong elevator already. We did the 3.5km walk to the exit and it was stunning! Well worth it. There are various places to stop along the way to get food and drinks.
Helen M — Google review
I’ve always been amazed by the universe, but this place made me realize: what mankind creates is one of the true values we bring to the world. Without this ability, we would never be able to explore such extraordinary places. This bridge is a testament to what human engineering can achieve — the longest and highest glass bridge in the world, spanning 266 meters. Standing on it, I felt as if man is the universe, and the world is but a blank page, waiting to be imagined and shaped. It’s an absolute must-visit. You could easily spend the entire day uncovering the hidden gems woven into this one-of-a-kind place.
Soraya T — Google review
Was a unique half day family experience for us. We have bought a combined ticket of the glass bridge and 5 attractions. Children and elderly received discounted ticket. You need to have passport to be able to buy a ticket. If you take a taxi, ask to bring you directly to the glass bridge entrance that is higher located than the main entrance. But you can reach the glass bridge from lower gate by using free shuttle bus. We initially intended to visit only the glass bridge, but we were very satisfied to have the combined one in the end. After glass bridge we visited Virtual reality view in baloon (you will receive hygienic one use towels on your face). Next we entered down and up the elevator. Third was zipline to.cross the canyon. Was actually very safe and pleasant also for our elderly group member. Please note that children under 30 kg weight are not enter the zip line! So please check in advance the restrictions for After we moved over to the other side by zipline, we tried the multi level slide. Before sliding, we got equiped with sliding trousers and hand gloves. Right after you can have rest in the near by buffet. Then we transerred on last attraction- the boat- to our final destination- walk in the Grand canyon. This was amazingly comfortable with beautiful views on the smaragd coloured green water. The walk is not difficult and has antislippery surface on most of the wooden bridge pathways. We had to wear raincoats on some parts of the walk due to rain. There is a colourfully lighted cave as well and toilettes. Overall was a very pleasant family experience. On day of our visit the place was not crowded and it took as 4 to 5 hours to enjoy everything without time pressure.Recommend to inquire in your hotel to help you to purchase the tickets. Please note that the Grand canyon is located around 30 min by car from the Zhangjiajie national forrest park and you need to buy a separate entrance ticket.
Ivana D — Google review
The glass bridge maybe the postcard of this attraction, but the gorge and canyon itself is breathtaking. A blending of man made outdoor activities with stunning natural gorge surrounding, make it even more exciting to visit. The park layout design is interesting, visitors enter at the highest point of the canyon, then hiking or a combination of hiking and joining rides on a one way path towards the park exit. For those seeking adrenaline rush, bungee jumping, zip lining over a deep and vast canyon and sliding are fun activities and act as means of transportation (taking you to next location on the one way route). For those who prefer a less heart beating activity, can choose to pay for a fast elevator down or to hike several hundred meters down an almost vertical trail. Once you are at the bottom of the canyon, there is a wonderful 3 kilometers trail zipping along the stream that leads you to the boat pier. There is an outdoor cafe, partially under rock wall by where you can have coffee and relax. There is a small "bandit" cave with colorful lighting on the trail. The final section is a 10 minute boat cruise on the serene lake. The park is some 30 minutes away from Wulingyan Zhangjiajie national park. It's worth adding half a day or another full day in the itinerary.
Sukid P — Google review
When staying in Zhangjiajie make sure to visit the Grand Canyon and Glass Bridge! The facilities are good (toiletry, lunch areas, tourist shops) and plenty of vending machines available for cold refreshments. Highly recommend the Glass Bridge, Slide and boat trip as well as walking whole Route B.

When planning your visit to Zhangjiajie, you absolutely have to see the Grand Canyon and Glass Bridge! The entire experience is wonderful. The facilities, including restrooms, lunch spots, and tourist shops, are well-maintained, and there are plenty of vending machines to grab a cold drink. For the best experience, I highly recommend walking the entirety of Route B, which includes the thrilling Glass Bridge and Slide, followed by a relaxing boat trip. The scenery is breathtaking, but I suggest going on a cooler day to fully enjoy the long walk.
Bhavik J — Google review
The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is a large outdoor activity area where the main feature is the world's longest glass suspension bridge that spans across the grand canyon giving tourists a thrilling crossing over the canyon where you can see all the way to the bottom. Aside from this, there are also zip lines, outdoor elevators as well as narrow cliff side walkways and bungee jumping for the thrill seeking adventurers.
Richard F — Google review
Do take the boat ride & walk out the Canyon after the bridge, the best part of the trip for me was the walk along the river out & not the bridge. There is a nice cafe in the middle of the trail out. An awesome place to have a cuppa.

The Jingzhou Museum is a remarkable historical museum situated in South China, which showcases relics dating back over 5000 years. It boasts of free entry and features a splendid garden for visitors to stroll through. Despite the advantage of free admission, local visitors may cause some noise within the premises. This museum is dedicated to displaying artifacts and objects that preserve the rich cultural heritage of State Chu, an ancient kingdom that existed for 800 years.
The Jingzhou Museum, located in Jingzhou, Hubei Province—my hometown—has a history of 2,500 years and is a comprehensive museum featuring the culture of the ancient State of Chu. We are the descendants of Chu, and the museum preserves treasures from the Warring States period such as bronze ware, lacquered woodware, silk, bamboo slips, and the famous Tiger Seat Drum with Dragon and Phoenix. Admission is free. Its most renowned exhibits include the Sword of King Goujian of Yue, ancient silk, and Chu bamboo slips—among which the restoration of both silk and bamboo slips ranks among the most advanced in China. I warmly welcome you to visit my hometown and explore the Jingzhou Museum.

Well. Jingzhou is my hometown. I really would be proud to introduce this place to everyone. It’s a small lively city with very long history. If you are interested in what happened 2000 years ago on this land. You should definitely go and check out. However, the city is also well known of its good food, good combination of trading frontage culture and historical stories. I would recommend a stay and just walk around this cute place. I love it, and hope you will love it, too.

This is where Zhuge Liang lived in seclusion for ten years before leaving the mountains, and it is also where Liu Bei visited the thatched cottage three times. When you step into Longzhong, the first thing that catches your eye is the large stone archway built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. On one side of the archway is engraved a famous line from Du Fu's "The Prime Minister of Shu": Three visits frequently make plans for the world, and two dynasties open up the hearts of veterans. On the back are engraved the five characters "Three Generations Next". In memory of Zhuge Liang, he was praised by later generations as the most outstanding figure after Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties. In the scenic area, there are also "Ten Scenic Spots in Longzhong" built by later generations because of their admiration for Zhuge Liang. If you go to Gurungzhong, it is recommended to watch "Thatched Cottage Theater". This is the first live-action drama performed in the form of thatched cottage in China, including three scenes including "Longzhong Duo", "The Song of the Ugly Wife" and "Red Cliff Ode". Wudang Mountain is an incredible destination that should not be missed if you have the opportunity. This awe-inspiring mountain peak offers a breathtaking panorama of its surrounding landscape and provides visitors with a truly unforgettable experience. The natural beauty of Wudang Mountain is sensational, leaving visitors in awe of its grandeur and magnificence. No matter your age or interests, there is something for everyone at this amazing destination.
Wudang Mountain, the birthplace of Tai Chi and a UNESCO World Heritage site, is an awe-inspiring destination that combines cultural, historical, and natural splendor in one breathtaking location. As a Google Local Guide, I highly recommend a visit to this sacred site for anyone seeking to experience the profound beauty and rich heritage of China. Wudang Mountain is deeply rooted in Chinese spirituality and Taoism. The mountain is home to numerous ancient temples and monasteries that date back centuries, each offering a glimpse into the mystical practices and beliefs of Taoist monks. The Golden Hall, perched atop the peak, is a particularly significant site, radiating a sense of peace and reverence that is palpable. The landscape of Wudang Mountain is nothing short of spectacular. The mountain is covered in dense forests, craggy peaks, and winding trails, offering visitors a chance to immerse themselves in nature. The mist that often envelops the mountain adds an ethereal quality, making it feel as though you’ve stepped into a different world. The breathtaking views from various vantage points are worth every step of the climb. The ancient architecture of Wudangshan is a testament to the ingenuity and artistry of the builders. The temples and palaces blend seamlessly into the mountain’s rugged terrain, creating a harmonious balance between human creation and nature. The craftsmanship is remarkable, with intricate carvings, statues, and murals that tell the stories of the past. Wudang Mountain offers a variety of trails that cater to all levels of hikers. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely walk through lush landscapes or a challenging hike up to the highest peaks, Wudang has something for everyone. The trails are well-maintained, and the signage is clear, making it easy to navigate even for first-time visitors. Along the way, you’ll encounter serene streams, hidden caves, and ancient relics that add to the adventure. For those interested in martial arts, Wudang is a must-visit. The mountain is renowned for its Tai Chi schools, where you can witness or even participate in the practice of this ancient discipline. The sight of students practicing Tai Chi amidst the tranquil surroundings is a powerful reminder of the mountain’s spiritual and cultural significance. Despite its remote location, Wudang Mountain is surprisingly accessible. The transportation infrastructure is well-developed, with options for buses, cable cars, and shuttle services to help you reach different parts of the mountain. The facilities are modern and well-equipped, with restaurants, guesthouses, and shops providing everything you might need during your visit. Wudang Mountain is a destination that offers a perfect blend of spiritual depth, cultural richness, and natural beauty. Whether you’re a history buff, a nature lover, a martial arts enthusiast, or simply someone looking for a peaceful retreat, Wudang Mountain will leave a lasting impression. It’s a place where the soul can find peace, the mind can explore ancient wisdom, and the body can challenge itself against the backdrop of one of China’s most revered landscapes. Highly recommended for any traveler looking to experience the essence of China.

The palaces and temples of the Ancient Building Complex are located amongst the peaks, ravines and gullies of the picturesque Wudang Mountains, Hubei Province. Established as a Taoist centre from the early Tang Dynasty, some Taoist buildings could be traced back to the 7th century. However the surviving buildings exemplify the architectural and artistic achievements of China’s secular and religious buildings of the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. The Ancient Building Complex reached its apogee during the Ming dynasty, with 9 palaces, 9 monasteries, 36 nunneries and 72 temples, following the major building campaign undertaken by Emperor Zhu Di to align his imperial regime with Taoism. Today, 53 ancient buildings and 9 architectural sites survive, including the Golden Shrine and the Ancient Bronze Shrine, which are prefabricated buildings in bronze made in 1307; the stone-walled Forbidden City of 1419; Purple Heaven Palace built originally in the 12th century, rebuilt in the 15th century and extended in the 19th century; the Nanyang Palace of the 12th and 13thcenturies; the Fuzhen Temple of the 15th and 17th centuries and the stone Zhishi-Xuanyue Gateway built to mark the entrance to the Wudang Mountains in 1522. The buildings in the Wudang Mountains exhibit exceptional architectural art and technology and represent the highest level of Chinese art and architecture achieved over a period of nearly 1,000 years. They are examples of religious and secular buildings closely associated with the growth of Taoism in China and lavishly endowed by successive Emperors. As an exceptionally large and well-preserved Taoist building complex it is important material evidence for studying early Ming politics and the Chinese history of religion.

Cuihua Mountain is a natural wonder in Xian, China, offering a serene escape from the city's fast pace. In addition to famous landmarks like the Bell and Drum Towers and the ancient city wall, Xian boasts this awe-inspiring mountain. Visitors can easily navigate the city using public transportation such as the metro, bus, train, and taxi. Special tourist bus lines and sightseeing hop-on-hop-off buses make exploring convenient.
Awesome mountain outside of Xi'an! It's pretty steep and takes about 1 hour to climb. The view is worth it and there's even a fun slide down the mountain.

Highlight of the trip to Xi’an (enjoyed more than the terracotta warriors). It’s a little confusing to do if you can’t speak Chinese. But can take a taxi from Xi’an, but a ticket at the gate and then at the bottom gate would recommend taking the shuttle up for a small fee. Once up there , there is a lovely lake to walk around and some caves to explore. Climbing the mountain is very tiring with over 3333 steps. So not for those with walking difficulties. But the views are amazing. Would recommend taking the main route up and then the south side route back down. 1 hour up and 1.5 hours down. However if you take the south side route back down it will take you back to the main gate. No need for the shuttle bus.

There are less people on the bottom portion of the climb. There is a slide down from the peak of the mountain but there is a fee, only WeChat Pay is accepted. There is no public transportation to the mountain and Didi may not allow drivers to pickup or drop-off passengers here depending on the weather. Recommended to drive own car here.

Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum

Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum is home to the famous terra-cotta warriors, crafted around the 3rd century BC. The museum, opened in 1979, encloses three major pits where visitors can see lifelike sculptures of warriors and horses. The soldiers exhibit remarkable individuality with their various features and attire.
A must-visit landmark in Xi’an — the world-famous Terracotta Warriors site. You can easily take a Didi ride from downtown Xi’an for around 100 RMB. It’s highly recommended to book your entrance ticket in advance to avoid confusion at the gate, especially for foreign visitors. Official guides are available right at the entrance and can greatly enhance your visit with detailed historical explanations. Inside, you’ll find three main excavation pits open to visitors, along with a museum showcasing ancient weapons and artifacts discovered at the site. After finishing the tour, you’ll pass through a lively food street — perfect for lunch — before continuing to nearby Lishan Mountain, believed to be the actual tomb area of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Plan about 1–2 hours for the visit. It’s an unforgettable experience that perfectly combines history, culture, and the legacy of China’s first emperor.
Somboon L — Google review
Visiting the Terracotta Army is one of the most impressive experiences in China. Seeing thousands of clay warriors — each with unique facial features and details — is absolutely breathtaking. The site is well organized, with clear signs and a smooth visitor route. It’s best to come early in the morning to avoid the big crowds. Tickets can be bought online, and there’s a free shuttle bus between the entrance and the main hall. You can also see exhibitions and reconstructions showing how the army was discovered. Overall, it’s a fascinating and unforgettable place — definitely worth visiting at least once in your lifetime.
Katarzyna — Google review
A must-visit historical site in China. The site is large and the actual museum is far from the ticket entrance, so advisable to buy the electric buggy tickets (additional cost per person) if travelling with seniors, kids or just unable to walk too far. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance but you will be hounded by tons of tour guides charging few hundred yuan to be your guide once inside. You can rent an English audio guide for 40yuan (if i remember correctly) after entering instead. After touring the 3 pits, you are forced to exit through a maze of restaurants and shops - another unnecessarily long walk. Once you finally reach the entrance again, you can queue up for a bus to take you 1.5km to the mausoleum site, where it is just a few more uncovered pits. This is another huge site, and you have to pay for another electric car buggy to bring you around because it is quite impossible to walk when you are already so tired! Once we got off the buggy at the first stop, we were told we must follow one direction (flow) from the first stop to the last stop and are not allowed to turn back if we missed anything. This was told to us in Chinese... so Im not sure if foreigners would have been informed of this seemingly important instruction. The actual tomb of the emperor is not yet open. So this site is really just giving some history of the site, some other uncovered pits featuring horses and bronze charriots, and a very large museum showcasing how they made the statues and figurines in the olden days. Overall, the site could have used a lot more signages to guide us in the right direction. Felt a bit annoyed having to pay for the electric buggy on top of the already expensive ticket fees at two sites.

Seeing these magnificent statues in person, after years of only encountering them in history books, was an absolutely unforgettable experience. This is a fantastic museum and an absolute must-see for anyone visiting the area. Truly a historical marvel! We were fortunate to have a fantastic tour guide who enhanced the visit immensely. She not only provided us with amazing historical facts but also entertained us with funny, relevant stories, making the experience both educational and highly engaging.

This is my 2nd visit in 2 consecutive years and I still feel excited about it. This time I have different official guide lady telling me other side stories of the Emperor Qin which changes my perspective view on life and human behaviour. It is truly an experience that I would never forget.

Amazing artwork eveywhere. The best place to buy clay soliders is in the back in a at shop that was kinda hidden from the front shops. They sell life size replicas and all the other smaller sizes. Skip the tourist shops at the front selling plastic. One shop owner even gave them me a pottery factory tour after buying a statue. Once in a lifetime experience . I loved it!

A fantastic day! You will need at least 2.5hours inside the exhibition complex to absorb the wonder and glory of the terracotta warriors! The mausoleum is 50 mins away from the city centre - we took a didi and it was around USD15 one way. There are 3 pits to enjoy along with a host of displays, just like a museum. Food choices are plenty and toilets are aplenty

I can honestly say that visiting the Terracotta Army was an overwhelming and deeply moving experience. The sheer scale of this place is something photos and documentaries simply cannot capture—you have to see it with your own eyes. I was utterly amazed and profoundly glad I made this trip; it truly is worth the once-in-a-lifetime effort. The Pit 1 (The Infantry): This is the main attraction and where the breathtaking scale hits you. Seeing thousands of life-sized soldiers, chariots, and horses lined up in ancient battle formation, guarding the First Emperor for over two millennia of the Qin Dynasty, is just jaw-dropping. I was amazed by the Bronze Chariots. The intricate detail and preservation of these half-scale pieces are often called the "Crown of Bronzes" for a reason. Warning: The site is huge and popular, so try to arrive early to beat the biggest crowds, I will recommend consider hiring an audio guide to truly appreciate the historical context.

Huaqing Palace

Huaqing Palace, also referred to as Huaqing Hot Springs, is a renowned historical site that has served as an imperial palace for over 3000 years. Situated at the foot of Mount Li, it was initially built by Emperor Zhouyouwang of the Western Zhou Dynasty and later used by emperors from various dynasties including Qin, Han, Sui, and Tang for winter retreats.
This historical site is tied to the tragic love story of Emperor Xuanzong and his beloved concubine Yang Yuhuan (Yang Guifei). Yang was one of the Four Great Beauties of Ancient China, but during the An Lushan Rebellion, officials blamed her influence for the empire's troubles. As a result, she was forced to take her own life at Mawei Po in 756 AD. Today, Mawei Po is a memorial park where visitors can see statues and inscriptions honoring Yang Guifei's sorrowful fate. Her story has been immortalized in poetry, opera, and literature, including Bai Juyi's famous poem, "The Song of Everlasting Sorrow". Like Romeo and Juliet, all great love stories end in tragedy like this one except this one is not fiction as historical records have verified more or less. So sad 😭. I wonder if I’m related to Yang Yuhuan since we share the same family name (楊)… I understand how it’s a curse to be so damn gorgeous hehe!

At Night, this place is turned into a stage of an impressive production called Song of Everlasting Sorrow (长恨歌). Pls buy tickets early, 10days in advance online. There are 2 or 3 shows daily.

Best Hotel I ever visited! Hot spring outdoor bath, lovely theater with the most high tech stage I ever seen, crazy good buildings and epic scenery basically a place for emperors to relax at but to a commoners price. Dinner is very good and at same price as neighbouring restaurants. I will come back here many more times! Worth every penny!

Loads of traditional shows, great exhibition halls, and generally very well maintained place for a couple of hours to wander around 😀

Well kept and well organised, get yourself a guide or follow a tour group around to get the download on all the back stories! Fascinating history ancient and recent plenty to see. For those looking for a challenge make sure to bring your hiking shoes! We went during the off season so no shows and renovation works.

As I embarked on an unforgettable journey with my dear friends from Morocco and Yemen, we found ourselves immersed in the enchanting allure of Huaqing Palace, nestled amidst the majestic landscapes of Xi'an, China. Our adventure was marked by discovery, awe-inspiring sights, and profound cultural experiences that left an indelible mark on our hearts. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the grandeur of Huaqing Palace, its ancient architecture standing as a testament to centuries of history and tradition. The entrance fee of 120 yuan granted us access to a world of wonder, where every corner revealed a new story waiting to be unveiled. Eager to explore every facet of this historical gem, we opted to embark on a cable car ride, an additional 40 yuan well spent. As we ascended to the mountaintop, the panoramic views took our breath away, offering a sweeping vista of lush greenery and the sprawling grounds below. The cable car journey itself was an adventure, allowing us to soar above the landscape and soak in the beauty of our surroundings. Upon reaching the summit, we were greeted by the serene tranquility of the temple perched atop the mountain. Stepping into its hallowed halls, we were enveloped by a sense of reverence, as if time itself had stood still within these sacred walls. The intricate architecture and ornate decorations spoke volumes about the rich cultural heritage of Huaqing Palace, inviting us to delve deeper into its storied past. Descending from the mountaintop, our exploration continued as we wandered through the myriad temples and museums that dotted the landscape. Each step revealed new treasures, from ancient artifacts to beautifully landscaped gardens, each offering a glimpse into the vibrant tapestry of Chinese history and culture. But beyond its historical significance, Huaqing Palace also captivated us with its natural beauty. The tranquil ponds, lush gardens, and towering trees provided a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, inviting us to pause and reflect amidst the serene surroundings. As the sun began to set on our unforgettable day at Huaqing Palace, we couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the opportunity to experience such a breathtaking destination with cherished friends by our side. Our journey had been filled with moments of wonder, laughter, and camaraderie, leaving us with memories that would last a lifetime.

Really interesting with the little stories about how the emperor and the concubines used the facilities. Will take about 2 hours to go through it all. You can see remains of the bathhouses used during Tang dynasty. I would recommend that you combine this with a cable car ride to the top of the nearby mountain as well as the park Tang Paradise.

Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor Parking Lot

China's first emperor is sleeping here
Dodou W — Google review
It's quite misleading to call this place a parking lot. This is the actual tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. The final resting place of the first emperor of a united middle kingdom. After walking for miles (took a wrong turn, failing light, about to give up 🤤), I finally arrived at the top of a flight of steps, where an inconspicuous tomb stone erected in front of a hill with the base stretching as far as my eyes could see. I told myself : "This has got to be it!". Awesome! (Until the tomb is being excavated, we will never know what's inside, the whole world is waiting with bated breath for the day)

No doubt thousands of statues still remain to be unearthed at this archaeological site, which was not discovered until 1974. Qin (d. 210 B.C.), the first unifier of China, is buried, surrounded by the famous terracotta warriors, at the centre of a complex designed to mirror the urban plan of the capital, Xianyan. The small figures are all different; with their horses, chariots and weapons, they are masterpieces of realism and also of great historical interest. 🇮🇳

We got scammed. We paid for a ride to the mausoleum. They took us around the park for 10 minutes even though the mausoleum is just a 300m walk away. There is nothing to see as the mausoleum is not yet excavated. It's 75m below ground 😀

(Translated by Google) We came out at the Qin Shi statue to take the shuttle bus to go to the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum, the Qin Shi Mausoleum which is a mound of earth where the royal remains are buried. Distance approximately 1.5 km. No additional cost. When you get there, take the train. The cost of the car is 15 yuan per person. It is recommended to use the service. Don't walk at all because it's very far. When we were driving it looked like we were going up a mountain. We went to see 3 locations in total: Pit K9901 and Pit K0006 that are currently being excavated. I also saw the officials working. And the last point is the name plate in front of Qin Shi's tomb. Behind the sign is a large mound of earth where the royal body was buried. Each point must take the electric train to go. When we reached the final point, there was a name board in front of the grave. It's a bit of a walk. The size of the mound where he was buried was larger than the pyramids in Egypt. If you look from a distance, it's a hill full of trees. It is said that there are valuable treasures buried within the tomb. They rebuilt the Alexandria Lighthouse that was destroyed by the earthquake, so the Archimedes Station In the place where he grew up, the terracotta warriors wore lipstick because they were originally supposed to be red, which is called cinnabar. The museum has received a lot of ridicule and abuse in the past few decades. Only the museum and its director have persisted here and adhered to its original intention.
