Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary

Wildlife and safari park
Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Set atop a forest, this sprawling sanctuary provides public tours & up-close views of sloth bears.
This place is a hidden gem! The facilities are well-maintained, including clean restrooms, and it's a fantastic spot for birdwatching. The forest department staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The jungle safari was a highlight. We rented a jeep for the fixed cost of ₹3000, which we were able to split among our group. If you are a solo traveller you may have to wait for a group to form alot bear the entire cost if you are on a tight schedule. Our guide was excellent—he took his time, stopping to point out different wildlife and never rushed us. We even got to see bears from a watchtower! For professional photographers, there's a special option for an additional ₹500 to get a closer look from a caged enclosure. Shout out to our guide for making the trip so enjoyable, and to the forest department for maintaining this beautiful, peaceful place. The zoo, Kaladham, and Hampi are also nearby, making this a great day trip. Highly recommend it!
Arun G — Google review
Its a widely spread sanctuary over 100 acres and has over 500 Sloth bears around. You are sure to spot on your visit, more so after noon as the forest officials attract them to a nearby spot for watching them from close and taking pics. Also, a place to spot many other species of birds around !!
Sanjeev G — Google review
You can book a whole safari vehicle for yourself it will cost Rs.3000 plus additional Rs.500 if you have DSLR with big lens, if you want to spot sloth bear from very close range better to go to hideout which will cost Rs.500 more per head. From the ticket counter to sanctuary, it will take 30 to 45 mins on the way you can spot many birds.
Rohit J — Google review
Good place. Can be more helpful if proper derails are provided in google. Phone numbers. Safari timings. Etc
Smita G — Google review
The place is good. Very serene. But the safari wasn't quite upto the expectations. The safari jeep takes you to a watch tower and provides binoculars to watch the bears from a considerable distance. You may not always get to see bears, so, there are high chances for disappointment. The safari would be worthwhile if the jeep goes deep inside the jungles and show bears at a close distance.
Vijay S — Google review
Very peaceful place, as our stay is at JLR, resort people arranged jungle safari, on the way we spotted peacocks and variety of birds after reaching to watch tower we spotted sloth bears, very nice place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.
Ramjee T — Google review
This place is located around 14 km from the main point of boarding. You have to take a jeep safari which would cost you Rs 300/ person. The facilities at the boarding point include a toilet and sitting area. The jeep safari was quite interesting as we could see several wild birds on our way. We had to climb a watch tower to check out the Bears. However, we couldn't spot any even with the binoculars. Timing for the safari is between 2pm- 4 pm.
Moon P — Google review
One of the best places to spot sloth bear. Forest is not very dense. Bear spotting is done mainly from a watch tower. Safari is held in 2 batches - one at 1.30 pm and other at 3.30 pm, in forest dept gypsy (charge of full gypsy Rs. 2000 inclusive of all). Online booking was not available when we visited. So had to take one day advance booking from sanctuary counter. Best to take 1.30 safari, as during that time forest officials attract bear out in open with some food. We could see 8-9 bears at 4 different spots. Other than bears, also spotted several birds. Experience not be missed in Hampi visit.

Large historical fort on the base of rocky hills with many doors & carvings at the main entrance.
Awesome 👌 place to visit. Very good for Photography. It will take 4 to 6 hours to comfortably cover with Photography stops. Carry some water and umbrella if raining. There is small food store for water, cold drink, ice cream, chips, biscuit etc. Also there are restroom inside. Ticket is 20 per head. Full of greenery. There are steps to climb up, but not very difficult. Enjoy while inside. Place is well maintained. As you go up, weather become pleasant and windy. View awseome. Parking is there outside fort. Guides available. Very recommend.

Beautiful fort, can walk easily all over. Must visit Onake Obavva kindi. Best time is to visit in the morning when sun is not too sharp. We visited late September when sky is still cloudy and has fresh cool breeze so you won't feel tired and can walk till the end.
Joy M — Google review
Chitradurga Fort, located in the Chitradurga district of Karnataka, is one of the most remarkable forts in southern India, known for its stunning architecture and strategic design. Built between the 10th and 18th centuries by the Chalukyas and later expanded by the Nayakas, the fort is popularly called Kallina Kote or the “Fort of Stones.” It features seven concentric fortification walls, secret passages, watchtowers, and water reservoirs that demonstrate exceptional engineering skills. The fort gained historical importance during the rule of Madakari Nayaka and is famously associated with the brave Onake Obavva, who defended it single-handedly against Hyder Ali’s soldiers. With its massive boulders, winding paths, and panoramic views, Chitradurga Fort stands as a symbol of valor, resilience, and the architectural genius of ancient Karnataka. The tickets are very affordable. The place is well maintained and clean.
Varun S — Google review
Chitradurga Fort in Karnataka is truly one of the greatest architectural masterpieces of ancient India. The moment you enter, the massive structure and brilliant engineering will definitely surprise you. The fort covers a huge area, so be prepared for a good amount of walking and exploring. Entry requires a ticket, and there are plenty of guides available at the entrance. If you’re interested in knowing the rich history and stories behind the fort, hiring a guide is highly recommended. Since the place gets very hot during noon, carrying a cap and enough water is a must. Also, there are many monkeys inside the fort premises, so keep your belongings safe and be cautious. Overall, Chitradurga Fort is an unforgettable historical experience and a must-visit for history enthusiasts and explorers.
Anjima K — Google review
The great King Veera Madakari Nayaka rolled fort. This fort made of full of rocks, very beautiful place for one day trip. Located near NH 04. One brave lady called Onake Obavva lived here, she alonly killed hundreds of Hidarali's soldiers.
Veeresh M — Google review
Its a beautiful historical place which gives lowkey hampi vibes. Very less travellers visit here, you need a full day to explore the fort and surroundings. Better to take a guide to understand the historical importance of each part of the fort
Chinthana — Google review
Very beautiful place, take a guide to know more information about the things which are hidden in plain sight. It's good for cardio. We got a chance to see the monkey king!!
KESHAVA A — Google review

Ok, ok... this guy is my friend, but the place is awesome and it is a must for someone who wants to get away from the hustle bustle of the city. Just nature and isolation! Yeah, but any supplies are at least 30 to 45 minutes away (one-way) by a non-existent road!
Iqbal K — Google review
It is a very calm and serene place. You won't hear any other sound except chirping birds and tree leaves rustling. There is a beautiful trail through the jungle and bird enthusiasts can truly enjoy it. One can see star studded night sky too. The owner, Navin, is a kind person and a wonderful cook. He treated us with hot and delicious home made food. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and truly relax into nature, this is the place to be.
Surabhi P — Google review
The place is calm, nothing (no shops) is available nearby. So visitors need to plan everything while going there, specially if you carry any child or family with you, like Foods, Soaps, Snacks, Battery banks, Drinks, Music System etc. Proper shoes is required if you wish for trecking. Vehicle tyre should have a proper grip on roads, since road is a mud road. Temperature is very cold at nights, so make sure you keep warm clothes.

Waterfalls
Kallathigiri Falls is a picturesque natural attraction located 50 km from Chikmagalur, known for its cascading waterfalls and the annual Hindu festival held at the nearby temple. The falls descend from the Chandra Drona Mountains, creating a stunning 400-foot drop. Visitors can enjoy cooking and picnicking near Chowdeshwara temple on-site.
Serene and Scenic – A Hidden Gem in Nature! Kalhatti Falls is a peaceful and refreshing escape into nature. The waterfall flows over rocks beside a small temple, creating a spiritual and tranquil atmosphere. The sound of the water and the lush greenery around make it a perfect spot to relax and unwind. The area is clean, and the short trek up is worth it for the view. Ideal for nature lovers, photographers, or anyone looking for a quiet break. Visit during or just after the monsoon for the best flow!
Sanjith S — Google review
Visited in rainy season, climate was very chilled with moist and a small water fall with pleasant ambience. A must visit place. Jeep ride per head 200Rs from the parking area of heavy vehicles. Around 500m off road, and then concrete road. Very thrilling journey to the spot.
Manesh M — Google review
This was my first time visit with family. It's a beautiful place to visit. One can get blessed from lord Veerabhadrasheswara. Take a pair of clothes and stand below water fall. Water is too cold and water is coming from river bhadra. One can reach following Google maps, but no good restaurant near by. Place is 6km from kemmangundi hill station. Lot of parking space available.
Lokesh G — Google review
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Beautiful and Serene Temple in Nature's Lap I recently visited this wonderful temple, Sri Veerabhadra Swamy Temple, located amidst lush greenery and natural waterfalls. The temple is truly unique with its beautiful integration into the rocky landscape. The sound of the flowing water adds a calming and spiritual vibe to the entire place. The stone carvings of Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, and other deities are ancient and mesmerizing. The temple's main deity is beautifully decorated with flowers, creating a divine atmosphere. What I loved the most: ✅ Natural waterfalls flowing through the temple. ✅ Peaceful and less crowded. ✅ Clean and well-maintained surroundings. ✅ Spiritual vibe with beautiful stone idols. Things to Note: The temple is a bit inside the forest area; reaching it might require a short trek or careful driving. Best to visit during or just after the monsoon to see the waterfalls in full flow. Wear proper footwear as the rocks can be slippery. Overall, it’s a hidden gem and a perfect place for those seeking peace, spirituality, and natural beauty. Highly recommended for nature and temple lovers! 🙏✨
NITHIN N — Google review
It's a small spot has a small water fall near to the temple. You need to travel for almost 1 hr in hills and it's ok.not as good as other spots near by. Jhari water falls is much more better and from there again if you go up the hill the view of fog and the climate is amazing over there .
Abhay V — Google review
To reach the stunning waterfall, you must first walk through the temple nature’s beauty hidden behind divinity.

Kallathigiri Falls: A Serene Escape Marred by Human Impact We visited Kallathigiri Falls just as the rainy season was ending, a perfect time to see the waterfall at its full potential, attracting a peak crowd. The sight of the water cascading over rocks right beside a small temple creates a truly spiritual and tranquil atmosphere, a beautiful blend of nature and devotion. However, our experience was tempered by a couple of significant issues. Firstly, an entrance fee was collected by locals on the road leading to the falls, with only a basic chit as a receipt, which felt somewhat suspicious. More concerning, though, was the pervasive lack of civic sense among many visitors. It was disheartening to see plastics and other trash being thrown into the water, and people openly washing themselves with shampoo and soap in the river. It's a real shame that some don't consider that this polluted water flows directly past the temple further downstream. To escape the crowds and the pollution near the main temple area, we decided to venture further. Just before the temple entrance, we climbed a rock and followed a trail along the river. After about half a kilometer, we discovered a wonderfully clean and calm spot, completely free from the crowds. This allowed us to truly connect with the serenity of nature that the falls are capable of offering. While Kallathigiri Falls holds immense natural and spiritual beauty, visitors should be prepared for the crowds and the disheartening environmental disregard at the main viewing area. For a more peaceful and unadulterated experience, I highly recommend exploring the trails further upstream.
Saish G — Google review
Kalathigiri Falls, located near Chikmagaluru, is a place that once held great natural charm and spiritual value, especially with its ancient temple nestled at the base of the waterfall. The temple, believed to be centuries old, still attracts a few visitors seeking solace and history. Unfortunately, the overall experience at the falls was disappointing and far from what we had expected. The waterfall itself is in a neglected state. The water was muddy and unclean, and there was a shocking amount of trash—especially old, discarded clothes—scattered all around the area. The place lacked any form of maintenance or cleanliness, which really took away from the natural beauty it could have offered. We attempted to climb to the highest point of the waterfall, hoping for a better view, but it turned out to be even more unsafe. The path was slippery and unhygienic, and we spotted several snakes along the way. It felt quite risky and uncomfortable, especially without any safety measures or proper signage in place. Given the current condition of Kalathigiri Falls, I would strongly recommend visiting Hebbe Falls instead. It's a far more scenic, cleaner, and safer destination where you can truly enjoy the beauty of Chikmagaluru without the disappointment. Kalathigiri has potential, but it seriously needs attention and care.

Waterfalls
Hebbe Waterfalls is a picturesque tourist attraction on a coffee estate featuring cascading waterfalls standing at 551 feet tall. Visitors can access the falls by hiking or hiring an SUV for about INR 3-4k accommodating up to seven people. The SUV ride is quite thrilling and lasts for about half an hour. Once at the parking lot, visitors must walk to reach Hebbe Falls which takes around 20-30 minutes.
I recently visited this beautiful waterfall, and it was a truly refreshing experience! The waterfall is stunning — surrounded by lush greenery and a calm atmosphere that makes the short trek absolutely worth it. To reach the falls, you’ll need to take a jeep safari. Both KSTDC jeeps and private jeeps are available. I’d highly recommend booking tickets in advance and going with KSTDC. Their vehicles are well-maintained, they carry only a limited number of people, and the overall experience feels more organized. Private jeeps, on the other hand, tend to charge more and often expect passengers to adjust beyond the jeep’s actual capacity, which can make the ride less comfortable. From the dropping point, you’ll get exactly one hour to visit the falls. The jeep will wait there for your return. It takes around 20 minutes to walk down to the waterfall, where you can spend about 20 minutes enjoying the view, and then another 20 minutes to head back. Tip: If you’re visiting on a public holiday or during peak season and haven’t booked in advance, be prepared for a longer waiting time for jeeps. Overall, this place is perfect for a short and scenic adventure. Comfortable footwear, a water bottle, and pre-booked jeep tickets will make your trip smoother and more enjoyable.

Hebbe Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls I’ve visited in Karnataka. The journey itself is memorable — you can either take a jeep ride through the forest or trek part of the way. The fall cascades beautifully into two stages, and the misty surroundings make it feel magical. It’s a great place for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone looking for a peaceful escape. Do carry some snacks and water, as there are no shops nearby. Best time to visit is during or just after the monsoon!

Visited on 03.11.2025. Must visit waterfalls when you visit chikkamagaluru. To reach the waterfalls we have to take Off-roading jeep ride and cost of the ride per person was ₹590. The off-roading route was covered with full of scenic views and every view is beautiful one. Jeep will stop at a place which is 1 km far from the waterfalls and we have to walk that distance. Driver will take UPI payments only, he will took the amount at the middle of the ride because there will be no signals at the starting point.

Hebbe Falls is a very beautiful natural waterfall and a must-visit destination. The location is scenic and peaceful, making it a great place to enjoy nature. The natural flow of water looks stunning and adds to the charm of the place.
Nagaraj D — Google review
The most beautiful place. I had been there two times. To reach there, we took jeep ride as other commercial and private vehicles are not allowed. Price per head is 599. You will enjoy the journey with scenic view on the way to waterfall. If you have any back pain and all, suggest not to visit and road is good. But it’s worth to get pain to reach there.
Pritish B — Google review
The experience is awesome. So beautiful and that off roading is worth every penny. So close to nature. On trekking path , 2 or 3 streams you will find. You will get to see crab, fish everything there. It's so refreshing and beautiful journey. For the jeep ride per head they will charge 590. Beware of the leeches. Such a beautiful place to visit in the winters.

Hebbe Waterfalls is an absolutely breathtaking destination and a must-visit for nature lovers! The off-road jeep ride to reach the falls is an adventure in itself — bumpy, thrilling, and full of scenic beauty all around. Once the jeep ride ends, there’s a 1 and half KM walk through lush greenery and small streams, which makes the journey even more enjoyable and refreshing. When you finally reach the falls, the view is simply mesmerizing — crystal-clear water cascading down surrounded by dense forest and mist. The sound of the waterfall and the cool breeze make it a peaceful and unforgettable experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Chikmagalur! 🌿💦
Gouni B — Google review
Hebbe falls is one of the best waterfalls I have been to, the overall lead to it was great, the jeep safari through the hills, then a short 10 minute teek, finally you get to the majestic looking falls and it was all worth it. Water flow was a bit high when we went in October so we could not get too close but still it was worth it. There is a broad waterfall in front a smaller one on top in the foreground. On the way to the falls, you will also cover two small bridges which was beautiful.

Mountains
Baba Budan giri, also known as Chandra Drona Mountain Range, is a revered pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Muslims. It is home to the shrine of Sufi Saint Baba Budan and boasts stunning landscapes with lush greenery. The area is famous for the rare blooming of kurinji flowers once every 12 years.
Ride is truly enjoyable only if you go by bike otherwise, you won’t get the same thrill. Road conditions aren’t great, but the route takes you to Baba Budangiri. eventually to Manikya Dwara(complete mud road). Sitalayyana giri and mullayana giri on the way but need to take diversion. Visit the dargah here (remember to leave your shoes outside as per the tradition) divine experience ! Roads near the top become quite narrow (be careful if are riding alone) so you need to be cautious. A ride during the monsoon makes the whole experience even more memorable, with mist and greenery adding to the charm.

This is a very popular hill station near Chikmagalur that invariably is on the itinerary of every tourist. The drive itself is very scenic and beautiful. The road at places is bad but overall a good experience. Even though we visited this place on a weekday there was a good number of tourists. Light drizzle and a slightly misty top provided a surreal view.

The corn-shaped peak of Baba Budangiri is absolutely scenic and unique, offering stunning panoramic views all around. Personally, I found it more picturesque than Mullayanagiri, with its distinct shape and serene surroundings adding to the charm. A must-visit spot for nature lovers and photographers!

We visited in the October end, it was great. We can go by our own vehicle to the top. Road is also good. It was fully covered by snow and you can feel the clouds passing by. And also there a temple within caves, but phones are not allowed inside. Nice place to visit, if it’s not covered by snow then you can get great view.

Baba Budangiri Peak is a peaceful and scenic spot that offers a refreshing break from the busy tourist trails of Chikkamagaluru. The moment you reach the top, the cool breeze, wide-open valley views, and calm surroundings make it an instantly enjoyable place to relax. It’s less crowded compared to Mullayanagiri, which adds to the serenity and makes it perfect for spending quiet time with nature. The drive up the hill is beautiful, with lush greenery and winding roads. At the peak, you’ll find a few refreshment stalls serving tea, coffee, and snacks—perfect to enjoy while taking in the views. The weather is usually cool and pleasant, and the panoramic scenery is fantastic for photography. Baba Budangiri also holds cultural and historical significance, with viewpoints that you can explore if you have extra time. The overall atmosphere is spiritual, calm, and soothing. A truly enjoyable and scenic spot, great for families, friends, or anyone looking to unwind in nature. A must-visit place when exploring the Chikkamagaluru hills.

Baba Budangiri Peak: A Mesmerizing Journey to Serene Views Baba Budangiri Peak is truly a captivating destination, and I've been fortunate enough to visit multiple times, even making it a combined trip with Kallathigiri Falls on one occasion. The journey up to the peak itself is absolutely mesmerizing, winding through beautiful landscapes. Be aware that the forest department collects an entrance fee and conducts checks upon entry. Once you get closer, you'll find there are about 3-4 distinct points to explore, including the main peak, a viewpoint, and a waterfall. You can park your vehicle near the stalls and dargah at the top, from where it's roughly a 2km walk to the peak. Alternatively, if you have a bike or a vehicle with good ground clearance, you can actually drive right up to the last point; it's not as difficult as some might claim. Don't be swayed by local vehicles trying to charge a lot by stating the terrain is unmanageable – that's often not true. Once you reach the final parking spot, making the short 10-15 minute climb to the very top of the peak is a must. The view from up there is simply serene, often cloaked in a mesmerizing fog, creating a wonderfully calm atmosphere. As you enter the area, you'll find stalls selling refreshments like Maggi, bread omelet, fruits, and water, though do note that these items are a little pricier than usual. It's a fantastic place to experience nature's grandeur and find some peace.

Jhari Waterfall is a stunning natural attraction accessible by either hiking or using a 4x4 vehicle. While it is possible to walk the 3 km distance from the top, many prefer to pay for a jeep ride down and back up. Visitors should come prepared with spare clothes and towels as bathing in the natural pool at the base of the waterfall is an experience not to be missed.
Absolutely awesome falls to click pictures qnd immerse yourself with nature. Definitely dive into the waters, better than hebbe. Take a jeep that would cost 800 up and down for 5 to 6 people. Calm and peaceful spot to chill. Start your trip a bit early to skip the queue:)
Thakshinamoorthy S — Google review
The waterfall is absolutely beautiful-tall, milky-white cascades pouring down rocky steps surrounded by dense forest and coffee estates. The sound of falling water and birds makes it feel peaceful and untouched. It's a hidden gem for nature lovers and photographers. You can't drive your personal car to the falls. You'll need to park near a coffee estate and hire a local jeep (₹800 per ride). The jeep ride is thrilling but bumpy, with steep muddy trails and sharp turns-fun for adventure lovers, but not ideal for kids, elders, or people with back issues. The water is super cold, clean, and safe for bathing. It's shallow at the base, so people enjoy splashing, sitting under the fall, or just relaxing. Ideal for couples, groups of friends, or solo explorers who love nature. Visit early morning or on weekdays to avoid crowding. Peak weekends can be noisy and packed. Best time to visit is post-monsoon (Sept-Jan), when the water flow is strong but trails are manageable.
Nishanth K — Google review
We planned jhari falls on a Friday. The crowd was less around 10, not much crowd. We have to reach the jeep point by own vehicle or rentals. From there we can rent a jeep. There seems to be 7 spots as they listed and charged around 3500 per jeep ( 6person ), the jeep will stay all around and drop us back too. We dint take since few places were reachable by our car itself. We wanted to go only Jhari falls, for that they charged 800 (up and down). Its a complete off road experience, very nice and recommended. The falls also was good, when we went it had water only foot level. It is good must visit. For entry you have to register which is ₹100, we can search jhari falls entry and in website we have to register its purely online only, no cash process. We have slots on weekends like each slot 300 cars allowed. Bikes no need to book m. Morning 6am - 12pm / 12-6pm slot timings If you leave early in morning, you can see beautiful views on clouds under the mountains.

Jhari Waterfall is a beautiful spot with crystal-clear water and a refreshing atmosphere. The off-road jeep ride to the falls was an adventurous and memorable experience. It’s a great place to relax, click some amazing photos, and enjoy the cool vibes with friends during a vacation.

Jhari Falls, also known as Buttermilk Falls, is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Chikmagalur! The water cascades down through dense forest and creates a refreshing mist — a perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. The jeep ride to reach the falls is a fun little adventure by itself, though a bit bumpy. The surroundings are lush, green, and peaceful. A must-visit if you love nature and don’t mind a little off-road thrill!
Akash G — Google review
Very scenic place, you need to take a jeep to get to waterfall which takes around 15- 20 min. Price is 800 per jeep and it takes 5 people max. For single person also price is same...but don't worry, you will get many people waiting in small group size, one can club with them if comfortable, the jeep ride is worth the scene.....

Jhari Waterfall, Chikmagalur – a hidden gem that lives up to every nature‑lover’s dream. The moment you step onto the trail, the air is filled with the fresh scent of pine and the soothing roar of the cascade. The water plunges into a crystal‑clear pool surrounded by dense, emerald foliage, creating a picture‑perfect backdrop that’s perfect for a quick dip or just a peaceful sit‑down. *What stood out:* - *Scenic view:* Panoramic cliffs and misty spray give the spot an almost magical feel. - *Water:* Cool, clear, and invigorating – ideal for a refreshing splash. - *Greenery:* Lush trees and ferns frame the falls, making you feel completely immersed in nature. If you’re in Chikmagalur, don’t miss Jhari Waterfall – it’s a short trek, a great photo op, and a perfect escape into pure, natural beauty.

Wonderful, everyone should experience. It’s exactly like scenery. You can take bath and enjoy with friends and family. Need to go by jeep in off-road for around 15-20mins, they won’t allow own vehicle. They will charge 800rs for 5person includes both pickup and drop.

The peak is renowned for its serene atmosphere, lush grasslands, and rugged rocks. Adventure enthusiasts flock to this popular trekking destination with its snake trails, moraine and rocky patches, rolling hills, camping grounds, and cave explorations. Nearby coffee plantations add to the allure of the area.
Great view easy trek awesome drive to location making it most loved location by tourist. However there can be too many people during weekends making the place crowded plan to visit early morning to avoid crowd.

A must-visit for nature and adventure lovers! The small trek from the parking lot is refreshing and gives you panoramic views all around. The weather is unpredictable, which makes it even more exciting.
Devaraj K — Google review
This is the highest peak in Karnataka, stands tall at 6330 feet.👍 Named after sage Mullappa swamy, who believed to have mediated in a cave at the peak. Located 20+ KMs from Chikkamagaluru, would need 40+ minutes due to the winding and scenic hilly roads. Make a note to get the Mullayanagiri vehicle pass online in advance to allow the car thru the checkpost as there are limits on the number of vehicles entering in a day. Need to park the vehicle at Seethalayana giri base and avail a local jeep services (Rs.50 per person one way) there. Jeep drops at the Mullayanagiri base / parking lot and from there it is a 20-25 minutes climb through paved stairs. There are around 450+ stairs, not very even, challenging for people with mobility issues. The climb is beautiful, offers great views of Chikkamagaluru valleys, Baba Budangiri hills and Shola forests, grasslands and distant waterfalls There are no restrooms at the peak, carry water, At the base there are many food cart vendors for snacks. No restaurants or ATMs. Weather keeps changing, most of the time mist engulfs blocking the views and offers a different kind of experience. Carry a light jacket, may tend to get colder post monsoon. At the peak/summit, there is Mullappa swamy temple and a milestone mentioning the height. The summit area can be kept clean and neat, on the other side some old buildings, thrash and debris are seen. ☹️ Would be a great place for taking pics and enjoying scenery/nature 👍

Visited this place before local authorities has made booking tickets online. View is great. Morning views are still beautiful. There is a temple at the top. One can easily spend half a day. One has to park their vehicle near Seethalayyana giri and walk or take jeep for next 3km. Even if you take jeep ride, they'll stop around 1.5 km before actual peak. So, it is very much convenient to walk as the path is very good and not much steep. There are some food vendors near the temple and near Seethalayyana giri.
Likhith C — Google review
Great view point. We spent ₹100 at entry, we have to do the booking online only from the website we can do, if you haven’t done you can do at the toll, even if you have network issues they have wifi. Cars ₹100 There are slots, mostly in weekends better book earlier. Bike no charge So u can go by own vehicle or rental or by package too. Own vehicle earlier is allowed till top, now they stop 3km before peak saying its new DC order. Not sure from when and why this came up, but yeah yu can take a jeep from there. Per jeep minimum 6 ppl, per person cost ₹50. In total they charge ₹300 one way, if you are group of less than 6 then also same amount or if yu okay with sharing they u can let two ppl join you. Two way cost avg ₹100 for jeep, which is quiet expensive, and to be honest we can go by our car itself. At top we have small shops, and tower is very bad. They will leave u at entrance from there u have to take 300-350 steps to reach top and there is a temple. Views were so good, climate was chill carry jackets for comfort. Since we went on a weekday it was fully empty.
Swarna S — Google review
Just an amezing place. enjoy the nature beauty from highest point of the hill. you need to buy ticket via online or at the entrance. Vehicle needs to be parked near Temple and from there to mullayanagiri , you need to go with shared Jeep. Its worth exploring it.
Guru P — Google review
We visited Mullayanagiri around 11 AM, and the views were absolutely amazing — refreshing wind, scenic mountains, and a peaceful atmosphere. From the drop point, you need to climb around 500 steps to reach the peak, which is totally worth the effort. There is also a temple at the top that adds a spiritual feel to the experience, and the view from there is just stunning. However, the experience felt a bit commercialized. From Seethalayyanagiri parking, jeeps are the only option to reach the drop point, and they charge ₹200 one way. If bikes or cars were allowed instead of forcing everyone to take the jeep, the visit would be more hassle-free and less commercial. Overall, a beautiful place to visit — great for photos and nature lovers — but the transportation arrangement could be improved.

May be good to visit in the morning and sunset (though sunset it gets crowded). However this is not a must visit place. Since it's close and on the way (minor deviation only) while heading to mulayanagiri you can include this in your itineraries. It would be amazing for a nature lover to reach this place early in the morning and sit and enjoy peace and nature. We did not visit for sunset but locals told us that during sunset this get way crowded and sunset is beautiful from here. However if you have plans to visit z point etc for sunset then feel free to skip. If you can be here during early morning or want to see the sunset here, do visut. It's otherwise a place you can skip. There is a sugar cane juice shop and we did not find any other shops.

Tucked away in the quiet village of Belavadi, just a short drive from Halebidu, lies one of the most serene and spiritually moving temples I’ve ever visited — the Veeranarayana Swami Temple. I had read about the Hoysala architecture before, but nothing really prepares you for the peace and perfection that this temple radiates. As I walked through the stone gateway, the first thing that struck me was the silence — a kind of sacred calm that seems to wrap around the place. Unlike the more crowded temples at Belur or Halebidu, Belavadi feels untouched by time. You can actually hear the sound of your own footsteps echo through the ancient mandapa. The temple itself is a masterpiece. Every pillar is carved with precision, smooth and shiny even after centuries — a testament to the craftsmanship of the Hoysalas. The main sanctum, housing Veeranarayana Swami (Vishnu), stands tall and majestic. The deity’s expression has this divine calm that fills you with a strange mix of awe and peace. On either side are the shrines of Gopala Krishna and Yoga Narasimha, each beautifully sculpted, representing different aspects of Vishnu’s energy.

Veeranarayana Swami Devasthanam in Belavadi is an incredibly peaceful and spiritually uplifting temple. The moment you step inside the complex, you’re greeted by serenity, cool stone corridors, and a calm atmosphere that makes you want to sit and soak in the silence. The temple architecture is truly impressive—classic Hoysala style with beautifully carved pillars, detailed stone work, and a unique layout that stands out from other temples in the region. The symmetry and craftsmanship reflect the rich heritage of the era, making it a delightful experience for architecture lovers and history enthusiasts. The surroundings are scenic and well maintained. The temple complex is clean, spacious, and very well preserved, thanks to the excellent upkeep by the authorities. The lawns and pathways add to the charm and make the entire visit feel refreshing and unhurried. It’s a perfect place to spend time peacefully, admire the architecture, and enjoy the calm village atmosphere around it. A must-visit gem near Belur–Halebeedu that often gets overlooked but is absolutely worth the stop.
Naveen K — Google review
A serene and spiritually enriching experience. Make sure to visit the temple early in the day, as it closes by 1:30 p.m. The inner sanctum is often dark, and the camphor light may not always be kindled, making it difficult to view the idols clearly. If a priest is present during your visit, you can request him to illuminate the sanctum and offer your prayers and also give some offerings to the priest. The idols are beautifully preserved, with the Narasimha idol being particularly striking. This temple is a must-visit if you're traveling to Halebidu or passing through Arsikere.

Halebedu was the regal capital of the Hoysala Empire between the 11th and 14th centuries, reflected in the remnants of old fortifications and reservoirs. The town boasts both Hindu and Jain heritage, with temple art seamlessly integrating stories from both faiths. The entire temple complex and the surrounding archaeological museum provide a window into the height of medieval South Indian civilization. The Hoysaleswara Temple of Halebedu is a remarkable 12th-century monument known for its exceptional architecture, twin sanctums, and elaborate sculptures. Architectural Style and Layout. The temple stands on a raised, star-shaped platform called a “jagati,” designed for ritual circumambulation and to provide spectacular viewing angles of the detailed carvings. The layout features two main shrines side by side—one for “Hoysaleswara” (King) and the other for “Shantaleswara” (Queen)—both containing Shiva lingas and sharing a large open hall (navaranga) for gatherings. The temple is carved from soft soapstone, enabling extremely intricate work. There are more than 340 large reliefs and numerous smaller panels, primarily illustrating stories from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Bhagavata Purana, as well as scenes from daily life, music, and dance. The exteriors feature eight horizontal friezes at the base, displaying elephants, lions, horses, and creatures, above which are large figurative panels of gods and celestial dancers. Notable are richly adorned Nandi shrines, a Surya shrine with a 2-meter-tall deity, and lathe-turned, polished pillars inside the main hall.

This ancient temple is a UNESCO heritage site maintained by ASI. 😍 This is one of the unique temples with respect to architecture, sculptural richness, and cultural synthesis. Built during the 12th century CE under King Vishnuvardhana of the Hoysala dynasty.🤩 No Entry tickets and there’s a free Shoe stand near entrance (no footwear inside temple). Drinking water and restrooms within complex. Parking available outside main gate. Local guides (₹500–₹900) provide detailed narration of mythological panels and historical context. Photo/Videography allowed inside unlike some of the other temples. 👍 One should first go to the interpretation centre on the right side while getting in to get an idea of what to expect here and the history of the temple to appreciate it better. 🙏 Constructed from chloritic schist (soapstone) — soft when quarried, allowing intricate carving, and hardens over time. Each wall, panel, and even pillar is intricately detailed — often compared to “poetry in stone.” Outer walls covered with continuous sculptural bands (friezes) arranged in horizontal tiers. Lathe-turned pillars — perfectly polished, symmetric, and reflective. Ceilings decorated with intricate floral and geometric motifs. Sanctums house Shiva Lingas, each fronted by a large Nandi (bull) pavilion. "*A Marvel of Hoysala Architecture* I recently visited the Hoysaleswara Temple in Halebidu, and I must say, it's a true masterpiece of Indian architecture. The temple's intricate carvings, detailed sculptures, and stunning star-shaped design left me speechless. The fact that it was built in the 12th century without any modern tools is a testament to the ingenuity and craftsmanship of the Hoysala artisans. The temple's outer walls are adorned with exquisite carvings depicting scenes from Hindu mythology, including the Ramayana and Mahabharata. The intricate details and precision are truly breathtaking. The temple's history, dating back to the Hoysala Empire, is palpable in every stone and sculpture. *Tips for Visitors:* - Hire a guide to get the most out of your visit and learn about the temple's history and significance. - Visit early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the crowds and heat. - Don't miss the stunning Nandi statue and the intricate carvings on the outer walls. - Respect the temple's rules and traditions, and dress modestly. *Rating:* 5/5 stars *Would I visit again?* Absolutely! This temple is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, and Indian culture.

The Hoysaleswara Temple in Halebeedu is truly marvelous! Every carving on the walls tells a story from the glorious Hoysala era, reflecting unmatched skill and devotion. Although a few parts have been damaged over time, the temple is now very well maintained. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it beautifully preserves the essence of ancient Indian art and history — definitely worth visiting!

Sri Hoysaleswara temple at Dwarasamudra (Halebeedu), is a World Heritage Site built at the apex of Hoysala art and architecture. Every inch of the temple has a story to tell, a sculpture to unveil, a witness to the glory of Hoysala era. Even a high resolution camera with all modern features cannot capture the beauty of the sculptures and carvings. This temple is a must visit site to admire the cultural and architectural mastery of the Hoysals.

Grand and magnificent temple! It's a well visited temple with full grandeur. We went on a public holiday and the crowd was huge. However the darshan inside was easy. This temple is huge so do not rush and give good time to soak in its beauty. The huge nandis are absolutely gorgeous. Plenty of parking available outside the temple.

recently visited the Chennakeshava Temple in Belur, and honestly, it left me speechless. The moment you enter the temple complex, you can feel the history and devotion in the air. Every inch of the temple — from the outer walls to the smallest corner inside — is filled with unbelievably detailed carvings. You could spend hours just admiring the artwork and still keep finding new details! The sculptures are so lifelike and expressive — especially the dancing figures and mythological scenes. It’s hard to believe these were carved out of stone more than 900 years ago. The craftsmanship is truly world-class. The temple is still active, so you’ll see rituals and hear bells ringing, which makes the whole experience even more special. I also took a short guided tour (which I highly recommend) — it really helped me understand the stories behind the carvings and the history of the Hoysala dynasty. The surroundings are peaceful, and the place is well-maintained. It’s a perfect spot for anyone who loves history, architecture, or just wants a calm, spiritual break from the busy city life. If you’re planning to visit, try to go early in the morning or late afternoon for the best lighting on the carvings. And don’t rush — give yourself time to really take it all in.

I visited the Belur Chennakeshava Temple recently, and honestly, it’s one of the most stunning temples I’ve ever seen. The craftsmanship here is just mind-blowing — every single wall, pillar, and sculpture tells a story. You could stand there for hours just observing the details in the carvings — from mythological scenes to intricate patterns that show how advanced the Hoysala architecture really was. The temple complex is huge, clean, and very well maintained. The main Chennakeshava deity’s sanctum has a peaceful and divine energy — the kind that instantly calms you down. The priests and temple staff are quite polite and help guide visitors without rushing anyone. I went during the daytime, and the sunlight falling on the soapstone carvings made the whole temple glow in a way that’s hard to describe. If you’re into history, art, or architecture, this place is a visual treat — it’s not just a temple visit, it’s like walking through a living museum. There are a few local guides available who explain the stories behind the sculptures and the temple’s history — totally worth hiring one if you want to truly appreciate the place. Parking and basic facilities are available nearby, and the area around the temple is also well-kept with small shops for snacks and souvenirs. Overall, Belur Chennakeshava Temple is a must-visit — whether you’re visiting for spiritual reasons or to witness one of the finest examples of Hoysala architecture. It’s a place that stays with you long after you leave.

Recently visited the UNESCO World Heritage Site ChennaKeshava Temple and awestruck intricate craftsmanship, and spiritual grandeur of the temple and sculptures. 👍 The Chennakesava Temple at Belur, built in 1117 CE by King Vishnuvardhana, is a stunning example of Hoysala art and architecture. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, it features a star-shaped plan, intricate soapstone carvings, and graceful Madanika sculptures that embody divine beauty.🎶 The Belur Temple Complex, built during the reign of the Hoysala dynasty, is centered around the magnificent Chennakesava Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, renowned for its star-shaped design and intricate soapstone carvings. Surrounding it are several smaller yet exquisitely crafted shrines, including the Kappe Chennigaraya Temple, built by Queen Shantala Devi as a miniature version of the main shrine, and the Andal (Ranganayaki) Temple, dedicated to the divine consort of Vishnu. Other notable shrines within the complex include the Saumyanayaki Temple, honoring another form of Goddess Lakshmi, and the Narasimha Temple, depicting Vishnu’s fierce man-lion incarnation. There‘s a parking fee of Rs.50 collected but no receipt given. No one to guide further, we had to go around the temple and find the parking lot at the back of the temple. 😒 At the entrance need to leave the footwear at the counter, was charged Rs.30 (no receipt given) At the entrance Guides can be availed ( Rs.500 - Receipt given), guides share history and details of the sculptures for 20-25 minutes. Can easily spend 1-2 hours admiring and taking pics. 😎 Theres a stepped pond and a book stall selling books of rhe history of Hoysala and temple in all languages. Best to visit either morning before sun goes up or after 4 pm as the stones gets heated up to walk Have a good time at the temple. Please keep it safe for generations to come 🙏

Belur Chennakeshava Swamy Temple is an extraordinary example of Hoysala architecture, and visiting this place was a truly mesmerizing experience. The moment I entered the temple complex, I was spellbound by the intricate carvings and the sheer level of craftsmanship that has gone into every pillar, wall, and sculpture. The stone carvings are so detailed that you can spend hours observing them and still find something new each time. The temple is beautifully maintained, and the atmosphere is calm and peaceful. The guides available inside explain the history and significance very well, and listening to the stories behind the carvings adds so much meaning to the visit. The structure itself is a masterpiece, with each sculpture narrating mythological and cultural tales. The nearby surroundings are clean, and there are places to sit and relax while taking in the grandeur of the temple. Visiting during early mornings or late afternoons brings a very divine experience as the lighting highlights the stone artwork perfectly. Overall, Belur Chennakeshava Swamy Temple is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, art, culture, or architecture. It’s not just a temple but a living monument that showcases the rich heritage of our land. Highly recommended.

The craftsmanship on every pillar and wall is truly mesmerizing. A must-visit for history, art, and spiritual lovers alike. The architecture is so precise that sunlight falls directly on the main deity during certain times of the year. Temple carvings have lots of knowledge to learns which will take time to understand. Nuggehalli Shri Hoysala Lakshmi Narasimha Temple

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
This temple stands as a remarkable testament to the artistic and architectural prowess of the Hoysala dynasty. Built in 1246 CE by Bommanna Dandanayaka, a commander under King Vira Someshwara, the temple's soapstone structure is adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures that narrate tales from Hindu epics like the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Bhagavata Purana. The detailed friezes depict a wide array of deities, celestial beings, and mythical creatures, showcasing the exceptional skill of Hoysala artisans like Mallitamma, who even signed some of his creations. The star-shaped platform (jagati), the three shrines with varying tower styles, and the overall ornate yet harmonious design are characteristic features of Hoysala temple architecture. While appearing as an ekakuta (single shrine) temple from the outside, it cleverly integrates three sanctums around a central mantapa supported by lathe-turned pillars. The temple complex also includes smaller shrines and a stepped tank (Kalyani), adding to its aesthetic and spiritual significance. The serene atmosphere and the relatively fewer crowds allow for a peaceful exploration of this architectural marvel.

Built in the 13th century, this temple showcases intricate carvings, beautifully sculpted pillars, and a serene atmosphere that reflects its spiritual significance. Unlike many crowded tourist spots, this temple offers peace and quiet—perfect for those seeking a spiritual retreat or an architectural exploration. The craftsmanship on the temple walls is mesmerizing, telling stories from Hindu mythology in stone. Though it's slightly off the main travel routes, it is well worth the detour. Nuggehalli Shri Hoysala Lakshmi Narasimha Temple 🌟 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “A serene Hoysala masterpiece tucked away in Nuggehalli—truly one of Karnataka’s hidden gems. The temple’s three towering sanctums dedicated to Keshava, Lakshmi Narasimha, and Venugopala emerge gracefully from a star-shaped platform, richly carved from soapstone. I was struck by the exquisite relief work: horizontal friezes of elephants, horses, mythical creatures, epic scenes, and divine figures—all beautifully preserved. The Hasanamba Temple, located in Hassan, Karnataka, is a restored 12th-century Dravidian-style temple that holds a unique tradition. Unlike most temples open year-round, this temple opens its doors to devotees only once a year during the Diwali festival. The grandeur and sanctity associated with the temple draw both devotees and tourists to witness this significant event.
THIS temple is unique, perhaps one among very few, open to darshan only for few days, around fortnight, during pre diwali period. History goes that temple is around 12th century, built by Hoysala king Krishna Nayaka,so architecture resembles Beluru Halebeedu temples.Though 700yrs old, well maintained. In its premises Lord Siddeshwara,Nagadevata,& four decoits temple who came to loot the valuables but reduced to stone. Sapthamatrikas while moving southwards,3 of them ,Mata Maheshwari,Mata Kaumari,Mata Vaishnavi were attracted by scenic beauty of this area n settled happily by inspiring Hoysala king in his dreams n others four matrikas moved further. These 3 mathrikas were so happy n smily, the place called Hassan by lapse of time, from Hasanamba, meaning divine smile. These dieties protected & blessed this area from all negativity, hence once called Poorman's Ooty,Hassan grew to this level. Hasanamba festival this year made arrangements par excellence, really hatsoff to organisers.Regularly more than 2.5lakhs devotees visit by way of free dharmadarshan,300 Rs SheegraDarshan n 1000Rs superfast VIP.Devotees donate buy tickets out of reverence to this temple. Flower decoration is really sooperb.Care n concern by police, homeguards, scouts boys n girls, medical facility in emergency, serving water,Laddu prasadam to ticket holders,Rice prasadam to one n all......highly commendable. Temple gets closed by Balipadyami,Sanctum sanctorium gets locked by an antique lock with no key but a lever. Dieities would be lit by huge ghee lamps, beutiefied by flower decoration, offered Naivedyam before Three Matrikas,.....alas.............. Next year while opening the temple doors, ghee lamp ,flower decoration ,food.....all would be found FRESH. Sanatan dharma n its glory, people faith, fame of dieties.....perhaps no science has answer......however world developes technologically digitally. Should there be any lapse of this miracle, flower / Naivedyam going bad, ghee lamps not burn.....wud be a bad omen....n calamity wud happen.

I got the chance to visit Hasanamba Temple recently, and it’s truly one of those unique places you have to experience at least once. The temple is open only for about 10–12 days in a year, so naturally, it gets extremely crowded during that time — devotees from all over Karnataka come here just to get a glimpse of the Goddess. I had taken the ₹1000 special entry pass, and even with that, it took around 20–30 minutes of waiting time to reach inside for darshan. Honestly, that felt quite fast considering the rush. There are also options for ₹300 tickets which take about 2–3 hours, and a free darshan line that can go up to 5–6 hours easily, depending on the day. The temple premises are well-managed given the massive crowd — police and volunteers do a solid job of maintaining order, and the queues move in a disciplined way. You can really feel the devotion in the air; everyone’s patient despite the long waits, which says a lot about the faith people have in Hasanamba. Inside, the darshan experience is short due to the rush, but it’s still special — the ambience, the chanting, and that brief moment in front of the Goddess make it worth the entire trip. The temple architecture is ancient and beautiful too, giving a real glimpse of Karnataka’s heritage. Overall, if you’re planning to visit, go early, stay hydrated, and pick your darshan option wisely. Despite the crowd and long lines, the experience is totally worth it — it’s one of those once-a-year spiritual events that truly stand out.

The Hasanambha temple visit this year was truly a divine experience. 🙏🏻 The arrangements made for the Darshan and festival were excellent — well organised queues, but the surroundings could be clean. The toilet smell was there when you stand in the queue. That could be maintained properly. But the crowd management was smooth. The temple was beautifully decorated, radiating a powerful spiritual energy that made the experience even more special. The volunteers & management deserve appreciation for maintaining such discipline & devotion throughout. - feeling grateful & blessed.

A visit to the Hasanamba Temple is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The divine aura that surrounds the temple is beyond words — serene, powerful, and deeply spiritual. The temple’s ancient charm, rich history, and sacred ambiance create an atmosphere that fills you with peace and devotion. Every corner of Hasanamba radiates a sense of timeless beauty and grace, making it a place where you can genuinely feel the presence of the divine. The crowd was well managed darshana was hassle free with provided tickets.

Hasanamba Temple, located in Hassan, Karnataka, is a remarkable shrine dedicated to the goddess Hasanamba (a form of Durga). Built around the 12th century under the Hoysala dynasty, the temple is notable not only for its architecture but also for its mystical traditions and annual rituals. Architecture & Environment The temple showcases Hoysala architectural features and retains many elements that reflect its long history. The main sanctum houses a simple yet potent idol of the goddess, and it includes intriguing carvings — for instance, a nine‑headed image of the demon‑king Ravana playing the veena. The surroundings of the temple provide a tranquil atmosphere — stone pathways, ancient walls, and a calm ambience that invites reflection and devotion. The forested environment and natural setting around Hassan add to the peaceful feel of the visit. Unique Traditions & the Lamp of Wonder One of the most celebrated aspects of Hasanamba Temple is the tradition of the Akhand‑deepa (ever‑burning lamp). Each year, before the temple is closed for its annual period of rest, a ghee lamp is lit, fresh rice is offered, and flowers placed inside. The temple doors are sealed, and when reopened months later, the lamp is still burning and the offerings appear fresh — a phenomenon that amazes many devotees. The temple is open to the public only during a specific period around Deepavali (usually in the Hindu month of Ashwayuja). For the rest of the year, it remains closed, enhancing its aura of mystery and devotion. Lighting & Festive Ambience During the period the temple is open, the entire space is beautifully lit, especially in the evening hours, creating a spiritual ambiance filled with lights, decorations, and devotional fervor. The lighting not only highlights the temple towers and carvings but also enhances the experience of pilgrimage for many. Large crowds gather, and colorful light decorations, festive lamps and traditional oil lights blend with modern lighting to create a serene yet celebrative atmosphere. Devotee Experience - The environment is deeply spiritual; many report a sense of calm and devotion on entering the sanctum. - The reason for visiting often goes beyond darshan — the mysteries and traditions surrounding the temple add to the emotional and spiritual experience. - Many devotees recommend visiting early in the morning to avoid the peak crowd and to spend quiet time in the temple complex. Accessibility & Practical Information - The temple is in the town of Hassan, well‑connected by road and rail from Bengaluru and other major cities. - During festival time, large crowds are expected; special passes and crowd‑control measures are often in place. Points to Consider - Because the temple is opened only for a limited period each year, planning and timing is important. - Although cleanliness and infrastructure are good, some parts of the temple complex may benefit from further upkeep especially given the ancient nature of the site. - Parking can be tight during festival time, so arriving early is advisable.

Must-visit temple in Hassan — a sacred experience not to be missed! 🙏✨

1. Took a Rs.1000 ticket for 2 seconds of darshan. Gaurds were pushing people, not leaving kids also. 2. You need to drop your shoes almost 850m away from the temple exit. 3. With Rs.1000 ticket, you can get 2 laddu as prasad for free. And not with Rs.300 ticket. Bit umfair, I believe. 4. Spicy khichdi/pongal for free for everyone. That was just awesome.

Located in Sakleshpur, the Farmers Son Resort & Adventurous Sports is a great place for families and friends to unwind and have a good time. The resort offers various accommodation options including bamboo cottages, although there are limited washroom facilities which may be inconvenient for some. Despite this, the property is spacious and provides ample opportunities for quality time with loved ones. It's recommended to visit during weekends when there's more activity and better service.
I had a fantastic experience at this resort! Everything about the place exceeded my expectations. The location is beautiful and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The staff was extremely courteous, friendly, and always ready to help with a smile. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with all the modern amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The food at the in-house restaurant was delicious, offering a great variety of dishes to suit all tastes. The resort also offers great facilities like a swimming pool, play area, and well-kept gardens that add to the charm of the place. Whether you’re looking to relax or explore, this resort is a great choice. Highly recommended for families, couples, or anyone wanting a memorable and enjoyable stay…

This resort provides a good range of indoor and outdoor games, not exactly adventurous sports but yes many board games & outdoor sports are available. Food is good, healthy and homely. The catchy part is breakfast, lunch, snacks & dinner all includes in your package amount. Limited recipes but what they serve are tasty. Clean and good sized pool & specious rooms. The things that disappointed us are 1- Poor management quality. ATV isn't working from a long time as long grasses are grown on its track. Painted board games lost their colours. 2- Very smelly blankets that may not be washed from years. 3- Parking area is small & not cemented, it creates problem when u have to reverse ur car. The resort needs strict professional management to avoid such loopholes. Rest I felt good and relaxing with its greeneries, coffee & chiku plantation.

The place is beautiful and the service is also really satisfying. But people are mostly coming here to drench themselves in alcohol, smoke , hookah etc., even during day time. This place is really beautiful in early mornings. Dinner started only at 9.30 pm which is little late. Even though they provided some rice and rasam early for kids if you ask. Food is good. Had a great family time here and got to experience so many games and activities. Neat and clean pool.

Shettihalli Rosary Church

Mentioned on

Church
Sights & Landmarks
Shettihalli Rosary Church, a Gothic church constructed by French missionaries in the 1860s, is a historical gem located near Hassan. The church remains partially submerged in water for half of the year due to its scenic waterside location. During the non-rainy season, visitors can witness the church as the water level recedes from the reservoir. The ruins of this ancient church offer a splendid view, especially during sunset.
A Timeless Beauty That Captivates the Soul Shettihalli Rosary Church is one of those rare places that leaves a lasting impression long after you've left. Nestled near Hassan, this partially submerged Gothic-style church is a hauntingly beautiful reminder of history, resilience, and nature’s quiet power. I visited during the monsoon season, and the sight of the church ruins rising out of the Hemavathi River was absolutely breathtaking. The architecture, though weathered by time and water, still holds a majestic charm. The skeletal remains of the church tell stories of a bygone era, and the serenity of the surroundings adds a meditative quality to the experience. Whether you're a history buff, a photography enthusiast, or someone simply seeking peace, Shettihalli offers something truly special. Getting there requires a bit of a drive, but the journey is scenic and well worth it. There’s no entry fee, and the lack of commercialization makes the experience feel raw and authentic. I’d recommend visiting early in the morning or during sunset for the best light and atmosphere. What stood out most was the silence—no crowds, no noise, just the gentle lapping of water and the distant calls of birds. It’s rare to find a place that feels untouched and sacred in today’s world, and Shettihalli Rosary Church is exactly that. A must-visit if you're anywhere near Hassan or planning a road trip from Bengaluru. Just be sure to check the water levels if you want to see it partially submerged—it adds a surreal dimension to the experience.

The church has a picturesque setting and is good for film or wedding shoots, When we went both were happening simultaneously. They say it gets partially submerged in water during rainy seasons. It's a popular spot for photography. The church's Gothic architecture and history as a former place of worship are appreciated by visitors. The church is not at its full and is completely broken with no roof and a few walls intact. I am sure it would look spooky during the night times especially during full moon and new moon day. The church looks best in the afternoon. During the peak rainy season, only one-third of the chapel is visible. The surroundings are generally quiet and peaceful, offering a serene experience. The area could be cleaner, people just litter around and there is no one to educate them. The roads leading to the church are dusty, muddy and not well-maintained.

The Shettihalli Rosary Church, also known as the Floating Church, is one of the most fascinating historical and scenic spots in Karnataka. Built in the 1860s by French missionaries, this Gothic-style church now stands partly submerged in the backwaters of the Hemavathi Reservoir. Facilities: No shops, restaurants, or restrooms near the site – carry water and snacks. Bhelpuri, ice-cream and Corn stall only available as per now. Entry Fee: Free. Parking is free on road near the site. Suggested to go Morning ~7am or evening around ~4pm as there is no amenities available on this spot an this area. around one hour could spend in this spot. Highlights: - During monsoon and post-monsoon (July–October), the church is partially submerged, giving a surreal “floating” appearance. - In summer and winter (December–May), the water recedes, and visitors can walk right inside the ruins. - The Gothic arches, stone walls, and open structure make it a great spot for photography, drone shots, and pre-wedding shoots. - The peaceful surroundings with the reservoir in the background create a calm, scenic atmosphere. Visitor Information: - Location: ~20 km from Hassan town, Karnataka. Best Time to Visit: - Monsoon (for floating view). - Winter (to explore the ruins closely). Nearby Attractions: Gorur Dam, Hasanamba Temple, Belur & Halebidu temples. Good thing about this place: ✔ Unique submerged monument ✔ Beautiful scenic backdrop ✔ Great for photography & nature lovers Need to improve on: ✘ No facilities nearby ✘ Remote location, requires private transport Tip: Evening visits are most magical with sunset views over the waters.

A truly mesmerizing and peaceful place! The Settihalli Rosary Church is a stunning 19th-century structure built by French missionaries, known for its Gothic architecture and unique location inside the Hemavathi Reservoir. During the monsoon season, the church appears partially submerged, creating a surreal “floating” effect. In summer, when the water recedes, you can walk closer and admire the beautiful ruins. The area around is full of greenery, water, and agricultural fields, making it an excellent spot for photography and quiet reflection. However, note that the road to the site is narrow, and there is no dedicated parking or shops nearby, so plan accordingly. Despite these small inconveniences, the visit is absolutely worth it for its calm atmosphere, scenic beauty, and historical significance.

Quite a remarkable spot with the old structures by the bank of the reservoir. When we visited it, it wasn't submerged, but it does so during higher water level at monsoon. Temporary refreshment stalls are provided by local vendors with soda-lemon water and other beverages. It was really kept clean, credit to both visitors and local vendors alike. Gets very hot on a sunny day after 10 AM. Try to visit early, by 9 AM to avoid the heat. Car goes all the way, so accessible for elderly persons also.

The church has crumbled from what it was 3 years back. The water level is over 20 feet. Visit before all of it disappears. In winters you will see most of it.

Shettihalli Rosary Church with its hauntingly beautiful ruins submerged by the Hemavathi River, is a stunning blend of history and nature. Whether partly underwater during the monsoons or standing tall in the dry season, it offers a surreal, almost mystical experience. A must-visit for photography and history lovers alike.

One of the places to go and see during summer season old ruined church. This is just a few kilometres away from Hassan. In Sumer you will be able to go even further near the church but in rainy season you will not be able to go near the church as this will be fully submerged in water.

Goruru Hemavathi Reservoir

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Goruru Hemavathi Reservoir is a captivating destination that offers different experiences based on the season. During summer, visitors can get up close to the dam and witness its architectural marvel. However, in the rainy season, heavy outflows restrict access to the facility, creating a powerful spectacle from the highway bridge. While influential individuals have special privileges, general visitors can park at the main road and take a scenic 2km walk to reach the reservoir.

Must visit place with family. They will not allow you on the top for the reservoir view. The food/snacks are less hygienic. Make sure hygiene before buying anything to your children.

Its a water reservoir for Hemavathi river. Place is nice for family picknic. But people didn't maintained well. You can see lots of plastics waste everywhere. People just through on the road and administration also don't do anything about it. Only few days they open the gates-not all the time. Please build some playground for kids or amusement park kind of thing, so more people can visit.

Nice place to visit. Might be better to visit when the dam gates are opened. Park your vehicle on the main road and walk for about 1 km to view the dam. No entry charges.

The dam offers a picturesque setup, it was a wonderful experience. However, one would need to walk for at least 1 KM to reach the dam from the main road.

This  dam has been constructed across Hemavati River. The dam is located at Gorur, near Hassan in Karnataka. Built in 1979, the reservoir has been providing water for drinking and irrigation purposes for the people of Hassan and Tumakuru district. Hemavati dam presents a beautiful look to the visitors, especially during rainy season, when the spillway gates are opened to release the flooding waters that gush out like froth. A garden covered with a green lawn right next to the dam enhances the beauty of the atmosphere as well as the location.

gorgeous reservoir Worth a trip. True hidden gem that is less well-known to neighbours. There are two entrances; kindly specify which side gates are open on the specified day so that you can experience the relevant majesty. People are no longer permitted to climb to the top of the dam as of late.
