Mae Kampong Waterfall

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Nestled in the lush forest of Mae Kampong, the Mae Kampong Waterfall is a must-see natural wonder. A short hike from the main village leads to this majestic waterfall, which cascades down seven rocky steps, offering stunning views and ample photo opportunities. The walk to the waterfall is relatively short but uphill, requiring some effort, but the reward is well worth it.
The waterfall is walkable from Mae Kampong village🚶 I hiked all the way to the top viewpoint, and it was totally worth the hike! The trail isn't too tough, short hike very nice👍🏻 I went in early March, just as the low season was starting, so it wasn't crowded ✅Bring some water (please keep it clean – there are bins at the entrance)🗑️

Well worth the drive even though the road does become very narrow and the usual car that has its emergency blinkers on to justify parking the car in a way to block the lane. Plenty on good restaurants on the way and hanging over the river.
Andrew — Google review
There is a good trail going up along the cascades. It is well maintained with railings. If you walk all the way up, you will see many levels of the waterfall and find some swimming holes. There is no fee. You can pay 20B for a two-row pick-up truck to take you from town to the trail head rather than walking up the whole way.
Deborah L — Google review
Love this little waterfall. Easy walk from Rabiang Dao cafe. Short steep hike. Took me 20mins return trip. There is an alternate path you can use to return to carpark. Definitely go if you are in Mae Khampong
Nisit P — Google review
The atmosphere is pure and nature is abundant. Along the way, you will hear the sound of the waterfall flowing all the time. The air is fresh and quiet. There is clear water. There are ferns and moss everywhere. Around the waterfall, there are various trees and rocks. The view is beautiful.
Charkrit I — Google review
Great little hike, I’d say easy to moderate from the bottom to the top of the waterfall. It’s very close to a small village with great food and drink. Highly recommended. Beat to go early as parking is limited.
Mike B — Google review
Though it's not the most beautiful waterfall, but it is still very cool and fresh at that place. One of the good places to spend time with the nature here. You have to walk on a long steep road before reaching the waterfall. There were some shops along the road selling food, drinks and souvenirs. Visited in February 2023

San Kamphaeng Hot Springs

Mentioned on

Geologic Formations
San Kamphaeng Hot Springs is a popular attraction located just a short drive away from the resort. For a modest fee, visitors can explore the beautiful gardens and enjoy the steaming pools and rivulets of the spa. The hot springs offer therapeutic waters where visitors can relax, soak their feet, or even boil eggs in the warm water. The site features various pools for swimming, private bath houses for families or couples, and camping facilities.
Lovely hot spring I use this hot spring to break up my road trip. It been hectic up to that point. It is half an hour out of town and 15mins to Mae Khampong. Has foods, hot spring soaks, massage service, playground and picnic area. I would not come here as the end destination but it is a lovely way to spend an hour or 2 chillaxing.
Nisit P — Google review
The third annual Light Festival at San Kamphaeng Hot Springs offers a modest but charming display, though it comes with some drawbacks. The main illuminated installations are visually appealing but limited to just a few key spots, which might leave visitors wanting more. The paths between displays are dimly lit and, in some areas, wet and uneven, so bringing a flashlight is a must for safety.Food options are disappointingly sparse, with only a handful of stalls, limiting choices for attendees. Navigation is another issue—there’s a lack of clear signage directing visitors to the event entrance, which can be frustrating. Additionally, the mandatory 40-baht parking fee feels steep, especially considering the rough, dark walk from the parking area to the festival grounds, where extra caution is needed due to the uneven terrain.Overall, while the festival has potential, improvements in lighting, signage, food variety, and parking logistics would make it a more enjoyable experience. For now, it’s a decent outing if you’re prepared, but it falls short of being a must-visit event.
VICKII V — Google review
There is differential pricing for foreigners and Thais in relation to the entry fee (100B/40B) and 1-hour massage (250B/180B). But the private hot spring room is 65B/person regardless of nationality. You can choose your experience and pay accordingly. The grounds are expansive so you can spend hours here. The open air foot massage was outstanding. Some of the facilities, like the private hot spring rooms, could use a facelift.
Deborah L — Google review
Packs of dogs fighting everywhere. The map is confusing. The place is not signposted and there are no friendly people around to ask. As foreigners we felt like we were out of place and being given strange looks. The fact that the eggs are cooked in the main spring really put us off. The whole place was not well maintained. The toilets were not good at all. The smell of rotten egg was everywhere. It was overpowering and sickening to the point where we felt like we could not breath. I would not recommend this place to tourists at all. Find a hot spring that does not allow people to cook in the same water people are going to be bathing in.
Julz P — Google review
The mineral pool is nice and it’s not super expensive, it does feel a bit wrong that you pay to get in and then pay for everything, even the mineral pool which I feel is why everyone comes so no need to charge separately, it would feel better to incorporate that into the entry fee. It also feels like a bit of an abandoned place with some areas really not being very nice
Ben H — Google review
Interesting, for a brief visit, if only to see the evidence of volcanic activity . The main attraction is egg boiling, and soaking legs and feet in the hot water. There is a swimming pool and play area for children, and food and drink for sale.
Mick P — Google review
Very nice and peaceful hot spring. Well maintained, clean water, and good for family or friends. Worth visiting if you’re in Chiang Mai.

Chae Son National Park

Mentioned on

National park
Nature & Parks
Nestled in a vast and picturesque landscape, Chae Son National Park is a haven of natural beauty. The park boasts mountains, forests, and stunning waterfalls, as well as year-round hot springs that are a major attraction. Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich forestland teeming with streams and wildlife. A highlight is the Chae Son Hot Wells, where natural hot water pools allow for unique experiences like boiling eggs or indulging in mineral baths.
Good hotspring with cold and hot water. You can buy raw eggs and boiled it as well. You can also take a bath privately, but for me the mineral foot bath is the best. Waterfall itself not far from here not recommend to swim at the waterfall since the hotspring will be better.
Grady L — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit, ended up spending most of my day here. There are 2 attraction in the main area: the Chae Son Hot Springs & the Chae Son Waterfall. The price is 200 TBH for foreigners, 100 TBH for Thais. The Hot Springs are extremely popular with domestic tourists. The main activities are boiling eggs, soaking the feet in the hot springs, and pickniking. The site is beautiful. Food and drink are available. The ticket includes access to a foot soaking area, small outdoor hot pools, and a stream where you can take a dip. The private bath areas are beautiful and cost only 50 TBH. Towels are available for rent. It's okay if you don't have a swimsuit, the rooms are fully private. There's also a massage pavilion, the price of a massage is only 200-300 TBH. You need to wait until a masseuse becomes available and they'll come get you, there's no front desk. For hikers, this is really an onsen first and national park second. There's only a very short path to the waterfall. The waterfall itself is unremarkable and swimming under it is prohibited. To get there, follow the stream up from the hot springs. The trail isn't marked so I ended up walking on the road. The trail is blocked beyond the 6th level of the waterfall. There was a signpost claiming that there's a 5km trail to the Mae Mon & Mae Khun Waterfalls. I couldn't find any info on this trail. There's also allegedly a "Mae Piak Nature Trail" somewhere in the park, but I couldn't locate this either. It's possible that the blocked off trail leads to these and you need to hire a guide to hike there. The park also allegedly has caves, couldn't get any info on them either. I gave it one star less because of the lack of hiking trails.
Antonija M — Google review
What an elegant park to visit. I almost thought I was back in Japan. It was that manicured especially in the hot springs area. The waterfall is impressive too with a small wall to the base leading up to the waterfall proper. Well worth a visit and can be easily combined with a visit the the sky temple, not 30 minutes up the road.

🌿 I visited the beautiful Chae Son National Park for 2 days and stayed one night at the campsite. If you’re driving from Chiang Mai, I highly recommend taking Route 1252. I mistakenly took the route through Mae Kampong village, which was very steep and challenging — not suitable for small cars like a Mazda 2 😄 🎟️ Entrance fee is 200 THB for foreigners, regardless of having a Thai work permit or pink card. Each national park in Thailand has its own policy, so always check ahead. The park is great for kids, with hot springs and a waterfall to explore. As other reviews mentioned: the bathrooms are clean and well-maintained. 💦 I definitely recommend taking an onsen bath at the hot springs — mine was 40°C and incredibly relaxing. They allow you to soak for 15 minutes, which was perfect. ☔ The only downside during our stay was the heavy rain, but despite that, we still had a lot of fun here. Highly recommended!
Koen G — Google review
Great place to relax! Big and scenic area with multiple hot springs. You can boil eggs, have a picnic, massage and soak in one of private onsen cabins. Also there are bungalows for overnight rent. Foreigner entrance fee is 200 THB. Visit date: 26 Oct 2025

This is a chance to experience a real hot spring. You can see a lot of locals and the view is beautiful. It is worth a visit.
Jung-Woo C — Google review
Hot spring was fantastic, boiled some eggs while there, and enjoyed a great classic Thai massage.
Juul L — Google review
Great experience to feel the warmth coming from the spring and be able to use it for footbathing. You can rent a towel for 20 BTH. People buy eggs at the 3 shops higher up inside the park itsself and slowboil them in the hot water. You can also find a waterfall there with a trail besides it that goes far up. Very affordable entry, 200 BTH per adult (think it was 50 BTH for resident and 20 BTH for parking or the other way around). Only the road to there from Chiang-Mai was very long through the forest (2h almost).

A lovely waterfall in Doi Inthanon National Park requires only a short walk and a little bit of hike from the main entrance. Visitors can get close to the waterfall to enjoy the relaxing view or have a photograph taken with the waterfall. It is also a good place to rest after a long day and drive. There are seating areas for visitors who do not wish to take a walk to the waterfall area.

If you're visiting Doi Inthanon, make sure to take the time to visit the nearby waterfall. It's truly a remarkable sight, with a rainbow often visible amidst the falling water. The waterfall is a popular stop on tours of Doi Inthanon and well worth the visit. The natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere make it a great place to relax and take in the scenery. I highly recommend stopping by this waterfall during your time in the area, it's truly a magnificent sight to see.

This delightful experience begins with a convenient hotel pickup and takes you on a journey through the heart of Thai cuisine. You'll start by visiting a local market and exploring their own vegetable garden, immersing yourself in the vibrant flavors of Thailand. The atmosphere at Grandma's is serene and welcoming, making it easy to relax as you learn from an incredibly knowledgeable chef who provides clear instructions throughout the cooking process.
This was a fantastic experience to have in Thailand!! I love cooking, so it was easy 😂. Still, if you are new in cooking is a must do in Chiang Mai. Our teacher was fun, warm and welcoming. The place is huge and it has it's own garden with the ingredients to use in the class. The food was delicious!!

I did not expect to be so impressed. Worth every Baht. I was blown away by the quality of service, food, time management, organisation. The teacher was impeccable: funny, professional, skilled, pedagogue. The place is amazing: spacious, green, various areas to walk and take pictures, open kitchen, one stall per person. You get to really cooked and prepare everything. The food I cooked was the best I had in Thailand! So delicious

TL DR: If you're thinking about booking this, do it. Food is amazing, super fun atmosphere, and Garnet is amazing! I don't even know where to start. Whether or not you like to cook, doesn't matter. You will have the best time ever. The food: 10/10 All ingredients are as fresh as it gets. They grow/raise basically everything you use from the Thai basil to the lemongrass, chilis to the eggs. The flavor of the dishes were out of this world. The Khao Soi, and Panang were my favorite. The drinks provided were wonderful and they had beer and soft drinks for sale at our cook stations! Atmosphere: 10/10 This place is stunning. Super clean, beautiful garden and structures. Flowers and vegetables growing everywhere. Ponds and fountains, lilies sprouting from the pad. Bathrooms were also super clean and easy to find. Staff: 11/10 The general staff were friendly and helpful. The biggest and most important part of the entire experience was our Chef/Instructor, Garnet. If you come here, do whatever you can to get Garnet. I'm sure the other staff are great as well, but it felt like Garnet went above and beyond. She's so friendly, bubbly, funny and makes the entire experience an absolute blast. Her english is great so understanding the instructions was so easy. My wife and I came here during our honeymoon trip, and when Garnet found out she made us a special plate of mango sticky rice in the shape of hearts and roses! All in all, this was easily the height of our Thailand trip thus far. When we come back, we will without a doubt be coming back to Grandma's Home Cooking. Thank you to all the staff and Garnet who made us feel so comfortable and happy! 🇹🇭🙏

The best experience to have in Chiang Mai other than seeing the elephants! We did the afternoon cooking class with Joyzaa, she showed us how to make some lovely local dishes and was extremely funny and made the day even more memorable with her jokes. After the session they even provide access to all of their recipes for you to take home so you can try other dishes from their menu.

Birthday treat from my partner. Wow… blew my mind. Taken to a market first and then the school set up in a farm outside Chiang Mai. Morning flew by with maestro chef for our small group. His name is Levin. Great chef, also French trained and going for my birthday dinner to his place tomorrow night. He was so good and funny. The cooking class was v well organised. We made Thai soup, Pad Thai and then a curry followed by mango rice dessert. Sad to leave the school. Beautiful white lotus type grounds. Top notch working huts. Tour of gardens of fresh produce. Fresh laid eggs as an ingredient too. Best birthday present too. Big hug to Chef Levin. 🙏
Richard S — Google review
My wife and I had an AMAZING time at Grandmas Cooking School. Our instructor Levin was very funny and very informative and made us feel at home. The instructions were clear and we all made DELICIOUS meals that were probably our favorite thing we ate on the trip. We ate Hot and Sour soup, red curry, pad Thai and the mango sticky rice. We got to see the local market, learn about the ingredients we would use, see them in the beautiful garden on the grounds of the beautiful cooking school, and then alternate between cooking a meal and eating. This was immediately one of our trip highlights and we will recommend to anyone, with a specific shout out to Levin.
Griffin R — Google review
Thank you to Garnet for the most wonderful day. Started with the local market which was SO insightful and captivating. Next we learnt about what we would be making and all the ingredients in the farm at the complex, they really had every herb/spice/fruit/veg all naturally growing in front of you. The food was amazing and so much fun to make, you feel so accomplished afterwards. Most of all, we had such a laugh with Garnet. She is such a diva, so talented and a great guide/host. I will never forget this experience and think it is so special, especially for the price!
Juliette M — Google review
The entire experience was totally worth the money—and then some. It’s an incredible deal when you factor in that they handle the transport. I was picked up right from my hotel around 8:45 AM, and they dropped me off later, too. It felt super easy and spoiled, which is perfect for a vacation! We hit up the local market first thing. It wasn't just a quick walk-through; we got to check out all the fresh, colorful ingredients we’d be using. After soaking up the local vibe there, we grabbed a quick coffee before heading off to the school itself. The school is in such a beautiful, peaceful location—it's on a real, working farm! When we arrived, they offered us tea and took us on a little farm tour so we could see all the herbs and spices growing. Knowing where the food came from made the whole thing feel extra special. Our instructor, Susan (or San, I think I heard her name was), was absolutely fantastic. She was hilarious, cracking great jokes, and just made everything so fun and easy to understand. The instruction was genuinely great—she kept the pace perfect and didn't let anyone feel intimidated. Here’s what we cooked: First up, the base: we learned how to make the curry paste from scratch, which was awesome. Then we moved onto soup. I chose the creamy Coconut Soup, but you could also pick Hot and Sour. Next was an essential: perfect Pad Thai. Finally, we got to pick our main curry. I was tempted by the Khao Soi, but the options were Khao Soi, Green/Red Curry, or Panang Curry. To finish the morning, they served us the classic Mango Sticky Rice. I was completely stuffed afterward! All the students were chatting, laughing, and clearly had an amazing time. If you’re on the fence, jump off. This class is fantastic, the food is authentic, and the people are wonderful. Book it!

Wat Phra That Haripunchai Woramahawihan is a breathtaking ancient Buddhist temple complex that captures the essence of Lamphun's rich history and culture. Legend has it that King Haripunchai established this sacred site in the 12th century, marking the spot where he discovered a revered Buddha statue. If you are interested in Thai history, it is a place to visit. It is close to the museum, so I recommend you to go to the museum first and visit it after understanding the history. It is a beautiful temple that contains the history of the queen who created a city-state.

This is the largest temple in Lamphun city. You can buy offerings next to the ticket booth. Devotees walk in a clockwise manner thrice to ask for blessings. There is a shop selling drinks in the temple grounds. If you are hungry, you can head to a famous longan noodle shop just across the bridge, within 5 minutes.

I went here during the Lamphun Lantern festival. The color of the lantern depends of the day you were born, so make sure to know that. Lamphun City isn’t too far from Chiang Mai, about 25 minutes by car. It is another temple you should visit. It is a beautiful place that isn’t too far. Must see!

A beautiful complex with temples. It's near the near, which you can see the view from a bridge. During Loi Krathong has lots of lanterns, food, and people retaliate their lanterns and Krathongs. Super worth going!

Wat Phra That Hariphunchai is a magnificent temple located in the heart of Lamphun, Northern Thailand. Steeped in history and spiritual significance, this ancient temple is one of the most revered landmarks in the region and a must-visit for both cultural enthusiasts and spiritual seekers. Dating back to the 11th century, the temple was originally built during the reign of King Athitayarat of the Hariphunchai Kingdom, which predates the Lanna Kingdom. Its most iconic feature is the golden chedi (stupa), believed to enshrine a relic of the Lord Buddha. The chedi gleams brightly under the sun and serves as a symbol of Lamphun's rich heritage. The temple grounds are serene and beautifully maintained, featuring a blend of Lanna and Hariphunchai architectural styles. Visitors can admire intricate carvings, traditional murals, and ancient structures that tell the story of a once-flourishing kingdom. The atmosphere is peaceful, making it an ideal place for quiet reflection and prayer. Wat Phra That Hariphunchai is also an important pilgrimage site, especially for those born in the Year of the Rooster, as it is considered their zodiac temple. The temple hosts several important Buddhist festivals throughout the year, attracting both locals and tourists. In summary, Wat Phra That Hariphunchai is more than just a religious site—it is a living testament to Thailand’s deep-rooted history, artistry, and devotion. Whether you're a history buff, a cultural traveler, or someone seeking spiritual insight, a visit to this temple offers a memorable and enriching experience.

Additionally, it hosts the annual Khan Tok Chang festival celebrating the cultural significance of elephants in Thai society.
My friend and I had a good time observing elephants taking shower with staffs, their performance and artworks. There are souvenirs shop, canteen and accommodations. They have hospital and nursery for elephants. We were on an elephant ride with a staff. It was a great experience

Easily accessible from the main highway in any direction with clear signs that provide visitors with the necessary information on what is what and where, in both Thai and English languages. The entire land layout is divided into sections such as the elephant show, elephant hospital, elephant rehabilitation, and so on. There was no entry fee to the place, however, there are tickets stalls for different events. Because it was midday and hot, nothing much was happening other than elephant back riding which we couldn’t do as it was too hot for us and the elephants too. Elephants back riding costs around THB 140 for a 10 minutes journey. There were small restaurants and coffee shop serving limited selection of local dishes too. Strange enough, the majority of the visitors were locals and it looked like we were the only tourists there. It was very quiet and looked semi deserted, but it should deserve better.

This isn't an elephant show or entertainment park. There are limited activities, all focused on the deep relationship between elephants and Thai people. I've seen many foreign reviews alleging animal cruelty and forced behavior. Do you really understand "Asian elephants"? This facility cares for both domesticated and wild elephants, and I believe their methods are appropriate for the elephants' well-being and natural environment. Please don't judge based on a limited or biased viewpoint.

When we entered the ticket booth, I saw an elephant next to it walking freely. I thought the elephant would have some freedom and would be taken care of. When we entered the park, I saw the elephants being chained with a small metal chain. They looked distressed and wanted to roam around of course. They showed monotone behavior (head swaying from one side to the other, even the little ones) which tells me they are not being good taken care of. Later we walked to the bathing area. The keepers would hit an elephant with the hook. I already wanted to go out, but then we just walked away. It's a shame that this is how elephants are being taken care of in a conservation center. Give the elephants some natural ground to roam around with an electric fence/natural barrier. The hook and so on isn't animal friendly at all. For me it was a waste of money seeing they profit of this kind of behavior.

We visited Thai elephant conservative centre on a weekday and arrived early, so the place was very quiet with hardly any other visitors. It made the experience feel even more special and personal. There are two elephant shows during the day — we watched the elephants painting and showing different skills such as pulling logs, dragging timber, and even playing sports. The highlight for us was definitely joining the elephant bathing at 13:30. It lasted about 20 minutes and was truly one of the most amazing experiences of our lives. Being so close to these gentle giants in the water was unforgettable. Highly recommended if you want a unique and meaningful encounter with elephants in Thailand! 🐘💦

I love elephants so wanted to see this place but it was a bit disappointing. The shows are only every 90 minutes or so and you need to check the times otherwise there's not much else to see. We missed a show but didn't want to wait for the next one so just got a bus to the elephant paddock. Most were chained and clearly stressed. Probably wouldn't go back

My visit to the Elephant Conservation Center near Chiang Mai was excellent and exactly what I hoped for. The atmosphere is noticeably peaceful , a huge plus if you want to avoid the typical tourist rush and chaos that can plague other spots. What struck me most was the large number of magnificent elephants and the genuine care they receive. The staff are truly friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about their conservation work, which made the experience feel very professional and informative. If your travel goal is a quiet, respectful, and less crowded opportunity to observe elephants, make this center your top choice!

The animal abuse was soil crushing. I’m so ashamed my volunteer group took us here. They would hit the elephants with metal hooks and they would cry out in pain. This place needs to be closed down permanently.

Wat Phrathat Lampang Luang is a remarkable 13th-century Buddhist complex located in the Lampang Luang Sub-District of Koh Kah District. It is renowned for its Northern Thai Lanna style and houses numerous temples, including one that enshrines a relic believed to be a hair donated by Lord Buddha. The temple's pristine preservation showcases exemplary Lanna religious architecture, with minor renovations maintaining its original style.
Love this temple, very nice architectural elements and paintings, not to mention how beautiful their Buddha figures are. Parking lot was spacious and close enough to walk to the temple. All the merchants around were polite and kind.

An interesting and impressive display of magnificent structures. Plenty of various activities were performed. There were many visitors, some coming in tour coaches, while others flock in on foot or private transportation, to admire this marvel, or perform their rituals and prayers. The place was practically full of tourists that come from everywhere. Beautiful, and must see.

◽️Highlights & Must-Do: •Upside-down reflection of the stupa – Traditionally viewed inside the ordination hall (currently under renovation). You can still see it in the side viharn on the left; look carefully on the right-hand table once you step inside. •Circumambulation (Walking Meditation) around the stupa – The temple provides flowers, incense, and candles for offerings, for 20 THB for a donation. •Ancient Lanna murals – Located in an open viharn at the entrance, these are among the few surviving Lanna-style wall paintings in Thailand. •Bullet marks on the iron fence around the stupa, with interesting historical stories. 💰 Entrance Fee: 40 THB for foreigners.

On one hand it’s a must see of historical and cultural significance. On the other hand if you have limited time in Lampang it’s out of the way. A Grab from city center will cost you about 170-200฿ each way. Temple entrance fee for foreigners is 40฿ if the person collecting has change. The trip is about 30 min (over 20km) each way and you can see everything in less than an hour. So if you have 2 hours and 500฿ it’s worth going. Honestly it’s a bit underwhelming compared to other sights in Chiang Mai area. However, it is nice to stroll around and take in the ambiance.

Excellent place and great location. Wat Phra That Lampang Luang is an important historical site located in the ruins of the ancient city of Lampang. According to history, Queen Chamadevi once came to pay homage and has been renovating and repairing it regularly. It is considered an important temple of the city since ancient times. It is beautiful and has excellent architecture, sculptures, and paintings. It is the place where Phra Kaew Don Tao, which is highly revered, is enshrined.

Wat Si Chum, also known as Wat Srijun, is a landmark temple located in the heart of Lampang, Thailand. The temple features a 49-ft.-tall Buddha surrounded by stone walls and an open ceiling. It has a small ordination hall with multi-tiered roofs and intricately carved eaves in the Burmese style.
It's one of the main ruins in the North Area and one of the beat ruins in the park. There is a gate to check your ticket. And also there are some shops and toilet here. If you are heading to the West side, better to prepare water here. There is nothing in the West side.

One of the most striking in the park. We enjoyed our visit. The Northern area ticket is 120 bat. We love how the figure inside reveals itself from afar and then again as you round the corner to enter. There are a few small vendors at this location including a refreshing iced coffee and smoothie stand to beat the heat.

Great authentic temple, must-visit when coming to sukothai. Local guide was very friendly and took some pictures of us touching Buddha's hand, as local habits/belief recommend to do (you can make a wish when doing so)

Ever wanted to be silently judged by a 700-year-old Buddha the size of an apartment block? Welcome to Wat Si Chum, where a giant stone Buddha peers through a narrow slit in the temple wall like it knows every bad life choice you’ve ever made. This 15-meter-tall Buddha has been staring unblinking since the late 13th century, which explains why the place feels less like a tourist attraction and more like divine surveillance. The narrow chamber forces you to tilt your head back, as if the Buddha is saying, “Yes, bow lower, sinner.” Historically, it was part of the Sukhothai Kingdom’s grand plan to wow the faithful, and even centuries later it still works, you walk in feeling like a traveler, walk out feeling like you’ve been spiritually roasted. The surrounding ruins are tranquil enough, but it’s the giant hand resting gracefully on its knee that steals the show. People line up to touch it, probably hoping some of that eternal patience rubs off before they snap another 500 selfies. Wat Si Chum isn’t just a temple, it’s a reminder that some beings don’t need Wi-Fi to keep tabs on you.
The G — Google review
Considered the principle temple of the northern zone of Sukhothai Historical Park, Wat Si Chum dates back to the late 13th century and is steeped in both history and legend. The temple’s name means “Temple of the Bodhi Tree." The 11.3-meter-wide sitting, stucco Buddha, known as Phra Achana, embodies the Sukhothai ideal of spiritual fearlessness through the calm expression. The temple is also famous for its hidden passageways inside the walls, where ancient slate slabs once illustrated Jataka tales (stories of the Buddha’s past lives). According to legend, these passages allowed voices to echo from within, giving rise to the nickname “Speaking Buddha.”

Sukhothai Historical Park is a must-visit destination, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site that preserves the legacy of the Sukhothai Kingdom from the 12th to 14th centuries. The park features impressive ruins including temples and palaces, with notable sites like Wat Si Chum and Wat Maha That.
What an amazing place! The Sukhothai Historical Park is absolutely stunning — peaceful, full of charm, and bathed in light from early morning. The central area with its ancient temples and serene ponds is simply breathtaking. We explored everything on foot and even had time to visit a few nearby temples, all in just one afternoon. Every corner is filled with history and soul — a place that truly touches your heart. Totally worth visiting!

Excellent site well maintained. You can hire a bicycle or have a trolly car for large number. Nice food stalls very authentic Thai food. Vibrant space with boards in English and Thai Chinese explaining the history. Some function was being prepared and lot of temporary wood stalls, decoration was being put up. Nearby Market also has a Wat excellent landscaping with water pond and place for feeding fish.

Oh my word! After the hideous colour-themed, spray-painted modern monstrosities of the temples in Chiang Rai, this place is an absolute dream. So many ruins of temples, pagodas, statues of Buddha, and other religious iconography all within a beautiful natural setting. A place of serenity, peace and calm. We hired bikes for 30 baht to visit the main site and used them for the rest of the day to cycle the bicycle trail marked on the roads leading to other temple ruins in the rural outskirts. You can use your ticket to go in and out as many times as you want. We went back for sunset. Can't understand why some people moan about 'foreigners ' having to pay more than nationals. It's less than £5 to visit an incredible place where you will easily spend more than a couple of hours. Less than a fancy coffee or a pint in London!! We only paid to get into the central zone - it's got everything you'd want to see within it.

Great place to explore. Many ancient temple ruins which can keep you occupied for hours if you want to stroll around the park, or hire a bike as many do. Or you can hire a golf cart type buggy, ask at the entrance, for 2-4 people that will drive you around the park with guided commentary or there are larger 12-14 seat buses that take you round the park. So something for everyone. We spent 4 hours there on foot and see everything in the central area. Just as we were leaving the lights were coming on so the park was looking very atmospheric. Other than the central area If you hire a bike you can see the rest of the area and follow the bicycle route, plenty more ruins to find, the shops and restaurants around its perimeter, and the streets come alive in the evening with food stalls. So you can end your day with authentic Thai food and sit on the grass next to the river and relax. Great time had 👍👍🇹🇭🇹🇭

Washroom facilities available.

This is such an interesting place. I hate to be critical but I wish they told the story of the people though… I did not get the sense of what the city had been, who lived there, what their lives were like day to day. The museum has lovely artifacts, however it also does not tell the story. Maybe every Thai knows the story but coming from a distant land without knowledge of Thailand the story still escapes me. Perhaps an audio guide would be helpful or even signage at each point. I envision something along the lines of ( Sukhothai has been inhabited since —-, this structure was originally built in —- out of—- notice —- in approximately —— the structure was transformed into a — notice ——. In the years of —- the city was abandoned because of —— it wasn’t until the year of —- that the city was rediscovered —— today ——) what I really want to understand is how people were ruled, lived, worked and worshiped across time. The place is magnificent but I missed the story of the people who have lived there and that’s why I go. You definitely get an “Indiana Jones“ feel in parts.
Cindy — Google review
We did the full circuit by bicycle so we could see everything, and it was absolutely worth it. Besides being fun, it really helps you make the most of your time and visit every corner of the site. The ruins are well preserved, and if you arrive early in the morning, you’ll not find many people around.
Azahara D — Google review
We enjoyed our visit over two days. We started with a day in the central area and then another day in the Northern and Western areas. Bicycles work great to travel between the Wat, there are so many to see. The central entry was 200 bat and 10 bat for a bike, very reasonable. The Northern entry was 120 bat and there was no ticket required for the western area.

Wat Mahathat

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Wat Mahathat is an expansive complex of ruins from an ancient temple situated in a scenic, park-like environment. The New Year's countdown that took place there was a truly awe-inspiring event, and despite being small in scale, it was undoubtedly one of the most striking events I have ever attended. This was my third visit to the site in 2021 alone, primarily because I thoroughly enjoy exploring its breathtaking surroundings.
Wat Mahathat is the biggest and most important Temple in the entire Sukhothai historic park. It used to stand adjacent to the Royal palace of the first Kingdom. Considering it dates back to 13 cent, I can say it's in a pretty good condition
Dejan B — Google review
I explored a stunning 14th-century monastery in Sukhothai, surrounded by ancient trees. The aged buildings whispered stories of the past. Intricate carvings and a majestic chedi stood as testaments to skilled craftsmanship. A peaceful atmosphere enveloped the entire place, perfect for reflection. The air was fragrant with the scent of flowers. Giant banyan trees provided shade and a sense of timeless serenity. It's a must-see for anyone visiting Sukhothai.

Excellently organised. CLEAN and markers in English. Bicycle available for 30 thaibaht. Local Food available in the Park. Clean and many toilets inside. Not very large area so is manageable on Bicycle. Very friendly people. There is a Museum that I missed because of lack of time. Outside the parks there is a Buddhist Monastery. Worth a visit.

Wat Mahathat is the largest and most important temple in Sukhothai Historical Park, once the spiritual and political heart of the Sukhothai Kingdom. Built in the 13th century under King Sri Indraditya, its name means “Temple of the Great Relic.” Located at the very center of the old walled city, right beside the royal palace, Wat Mahathat was designed according to the mandala concept, symbolizing the universe. At its core stands the iconic lotus-bud chedi, a hallmark of Sukhothai architecture, surrounded by more than 200 smaller stupas, viharns, and Buddha images in a mix of Sukhothai, Lanna, and Sri Lankan styles. The temple’s grand scale reflected its role as the religious center of the kingdom, where relics of the Buddha were enshrined and major ceremonies were held.
Ben R — Google review
The central complex at Sukhothai Historical Park, Wat Matathat is a treasure trove of seated and walking Buddhas from Sukhothai. The whole area is a mass of lotus bud chedis, stupas and mondops, sometimes including stucco decoration. The complex is marvellously photogenic whichever way you look. A must-see for fans of Thai architecture and art.

Thailand is all about Wats, showing how religion has been fundamental in the country’s history. After visiting many of the ancestral buildings, for the size, number of Buddhas and the clean part of the city, this is the one I would recommend to visit. Early morning or late afternoon are the best time, usually is not crowded and there’s plenty of space to enjoy. Particularly I did in a rental bike, that’s great since you can move around easily and includes AC, which you appreciate after each stop. This is a must, despite several others, this is part of an antique city.
D C — Google review
Of the central section, the main temple where everyone goes. For sure, it impresses and cannot be missed. Go there early morning, the park opens at 06.30 ! a chance to enjoy cool atmosphere, soft lighting and have the whole temple for yourself.

Wat Mahathat is the most beautiful place in the whole park IMO (along with Si Phum). Spacious area with the main building surrounded with stupas and buddha statues. It's good to see it early in the morning or after 1.00 pm (when the crowd is less intense). Must be incredible during sunsets and sunrises, but didnt make it 🙄

Phra Ruang Hot Springs is a serene and affordable hot spring located in a remote area. The main hot spring has a temperature of about 65°C, and its water is pumped to bath houses around the facility. Visitors can enjoy soaking their feet in the free feet soaking pools or opt for a 30-minute session at the bath house for just THB 30. The tranquil atmosphere allows for relaxation, with the option to rent private pools with hot mineral water for a rejuvenating experience.
A hot spring water today around 60 degree is still too hot formy feet. You can also soak your body in a privateroom for your body. Parking are available in their parking area.

This is a very tranquil place. Free entry to wander around the grounds and soak your feet in hot water springs, if you wish! The water is around 60 degrees Celsius so quite hot enough. There are not many amenities but the toilets are clean. There is a possibility to have a hot bath or even stay on site in a cabin.

Just pass by. These guys don't care about anyone. Look around, and you'll understand everything. They don't care about the cleanliness around and don't care about the guests. We rented a private bath, some more people were immediately brought into it, despite the fact that my things were already lying there. Everyone around was laughing and smiling, well, that's how it happened, show me your tickets. In general, it was necessary to immediately pay attention to the condition of the whole complex and the basic cleanliness in the bathrooms and run, maybe the socks would have remained on me. And so... you can watch, try to swim, maybe you'll like it, but take it into account, they haven't been cleaned there since the 90s As a bonus, I attach a photo with the remains of garbage burning. Wat Khiriwong offers a stunning panoramic view of the city, serving as a substitute for Nakhon Sawan Tower during its maintenance closure. Though the entrance is surrounded by menacing wild dogs and a graveyard, visitors can still drive up to this temple from below and park at the front. The large temple boasts numerous attractions and opportunities for merit-making activities while providing breathtaking views of Nakornsawarn province.
Good parking. No entrance fee. Situated adjacent to the observation tower, both are a must see. They are up a steep hill. You will need motorised transport to access them. The temple has good views and is a pleasant and quiet place.

Beautiful temple on top of the hill that you can observe the entire Nakhon Sawan (นครสวรรค์) city from the top of the temple. This temple is the main landmark of Nakhon Sawan that can be seen from almost everywhere in the city, and this is probably the main or one of the really sacred temples of the city, too, as this temple located on top of the hill from the beliefs to be closer to heaven. The temple is also decorated in golden color and contains multiple important artifacts like the some remain of Buddha and his disciples alongside multiple paintings depicting Buddhism related story. If you have a chance to visit Nakhon Sawan, this temple is a must visit for any Buddhist or those who seek to learn Thai cultures and history.

วัดจันทาราม (ท่าซุง)

Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Wat Tha Sung, a Buddhist temple complex, is a must-visit destination in Uthaithani province. The two buildings inside the temple are adorned with shining, mirrored tiles and columns that make visitors feel as if they are in heaven. The crystal glass building gives the impression of staying in the sky at night time, with twinkling stars all around. Furthermore, the golden buildings create an impressive sight with endless Buddhas lining both sides of the walls.
I just visited Wat Tha Sung, and it was absolutely stunning. The architecture and details are breathtaking, with a peaceful and serene atmosphere that makes it a truly special place. Walking through the temple grounds felt like a spiritual experience. If you're ever nearby, I highly recommend visiting – it's a beautiful spot that really leaves an impression.

One of the most stunning temple in Uthaithani. The design of the temple is unique beautiful and stunning. If you plan to come and visit you can plan to spend about 1-2 hours here. The temple has a large area walking will take more time. However, in the temple there is a small car cost20 baht per person. You can get on the car and he will bring you around the important area. However please not that most of the place will be close during 11.45-13.00 for the monk to practice. It’s one of the temple you should visit.

An absolutely breathtaking temple. Wat Tha Sung is easily one of the most stunning and unique temples in all of Thailand. The main highlight, the "Viharn Kaeo" or Crystal Hall, is unforgettable. You step inside a 100-meter-long hall where every single surface—walls, pillars, and ceiling—is covered in a mosaic of glittering mirrors. The effect is dazzling and overwhelming, like standing inside a diamond. It’s incredibly beautiful and feels both grand and deeply peaceful. This hall also contains the body of the revered monk Luang Phor Lersi Lingdam in a glass coffin. Don't miss the "Prasat Thong Kham" (Golden Castle) either. It's an enormous, incredibly intricate building covered entirely in gold that stands in stark contrast to the white and silver Crystal Hall. The entire temple complex is huge, well-maintained, and has a very serene, spiritual atmosphere despite being a popular spot for devotees. Be sure to check the specific opening times for the Crystal Hall, as it closes for a lunch break. This place is a must-see in Uthai Thani—photos truly don't do it justice!

Wat Tha Sung dates back to the Ayutthaya period. The name “Tha Sung” comes from the fact that the area was once a port (Tha = port) for transporting logs (Sung = timber) along the Sakae Krang River. In 1968, Phra Ratchapromyan (Luang Pho Ruesi Lingdam) was appointed as abbot and began a major renovation and expansion of the temple. Many of the buildings seen today date from this period. The temple contains the remains of this abbot who was of great importance to the temple.

Very pretty interior with and beware that there’s visit time, I go in around 10:45am. After my worship at the main building, there’s a mini bus 20baht per person to bring you for a tour to another building, a tour is around 30 minutes.

Sam Chuk Market, a traditional market over 100 years old, offers a variety of familiar street-food dishes and is known for attracting Thai TV stars and celebrities. The market features old-style eateries and small alleys where visitors can purchase items ranging from straw hats to children's toys to asparagus. Once likened to the foundation of Chinese-Thai community culture, the market was originally a wooden shop house along the Tha Chin River and served as an important trading area.
Nice traditional market, a lot of foods to eat. I tried the yum bok noodles from one of the shop, so fresh and tasty meal. Only 30km from Suphan Buri town. Take bus 487 from Suphan Buri Bus Terminal at THB40. The bus will stop at the main road near the market.

Sam Chuk Market in Suphan Buri Province has been a beloved traditional market for over a century, known for its vibrant atmosphere and street food. My wife and I visited about ten years ago, experiencing the energy, aromas of freshly cooked dishes, and local delicacies. The market reflects the region's cultural heritage with its wooden architecture and friendly locals sharing stories. Our visit evoked nostalgia and appreciation for the traditions preserved in this lively area of Thailand, leaving lasting memories of its rich cultural tapestry.

Cute little market with a mix of food and toys. Most of the area is covered, but there are some parts where you're exposed to the sun. It's not particularly big, so you can easily explore the whole market in an hour or two. Several parking lots surround the market, and motorbike trailers will take you to the entrance for 5 Baht, although it's only a short walk. There isn't a wide variety of products, but the place was bustling on the Saturday afternoon we visited. The atmosphere is great, with some charming paintings on the walls around the market, and the people at the shops we visited were lovely. Definitely worth a visit if you're passing through.

The Local market was showing theirs life and culture a lot there. Most of the products quite similar in each outlet, including the dessert and snacks both. You may found the shop same as the next two shop. Which a little bit offers in different prices. However it was good fun to join and watched there. The food inside the market not much for us to select, there for we found some restaurants operate there compared with the price paid with local environmental and food inside the bowl. It was totally surprising. Moreover, not much choice for us to find a food kind of sit and eat.

Classic old market over 100 years old. Not very busy on weekday. Old Cafe in the corner has been opened for more than a hundred year. Owner is friendly and informative. Lovely market to visit in Supanburee. Recommend to visit an old house which is turned into a museum.

Better than most other market I’ve been to. Fairly cool to walk around. It’s not as hot and humid as some others. Lots of covered area. They have hot food, drink, cold food, snack, dry food, fresh food, bric and brac, clothing, jewellery, shoes, hats, and more. This is an old traditional market. Great walk and view. Make sure to try some food. 😊 There is a parking area near the gate 20 Baht / car. Toilet is quite clean as well. 5 Baht to use. Money drop near the sink.
Vu N — Google review
Thais use to come here to buy some old-style cookies, cakes and sweet candies. Today the market updated a bit. Now you can find toys, lot of noodles restaurants, fish (fried and dried) fish balls (very famous shop here). Nice atmosphere, even not everywhere is "originaly vintage" still definitely one of my fav places here in Suphanburi. Ps: still one old shop selling music tapes from the '80 (Thai music only).

Water & Amusement Parks
Phra Prang Sam Yot, also known as the Monkey Temple, is a renowned attraction in Mueang Lopburi District. This ancient Khmer-style temple, dating back to the 12th century, was initially built as a Buddhist temple and later converted to Shiva worship before being returned to Buddhism. The site is famous for its three linked towers constructed from laterite and sandstone. Visitors can explore the ruins while interacting with the playful monkeys that freely roam around the area.
We went to an ancient place where mostly monkeys lived inside an ancient castle, but some of them were still on the street or by the roadside. However, most of them are aggressive, and I once saw them fight and bleed. If you go inside, the ticket price for Thais is 10 baht, while foreigners pay 40 baht. They will give you a long wooden stick; if monkeys see you carrying it, they won't come close. Don't bring any food, or you'll get attacked, just like my husband did! He bought peanuts in a plastic bag, and a monkey sneaked behind him and grabbed the bag immediately!
Rotphannee R — Google review
Great site to visit! Not super busy during the weekday. I would say, it gets really hot in the afternoon so I would suggest going early morning or late evening. Wear walking shoes because there are several steps, but you can also get dropped off at Gate 4, to avoid the long stairway. We walked the stairs up and had our driver take us back.
Donniecia C — Google review
Visited in March 2025, the ruins themselves are quite small, not much information given about them, only takes 10 minutes to walk around and glance inside (nothing of note inside). Main attraction of course are the monkeys, pretty cool to see them around the temple ruins. In my experience not aggressive at all as some have suggested, mainly ignore you or if anything are shy, tend to run away if you're within a metre of them. They give you a stick at the entrance, hope nobody actually beats them with it...
Joseph M — Google review
Cool ancient ruins of a Buddhist temple. Popular IG spot for both visitors and locals of Lopburi. Not necessary to pay the entrance fee as you can see it from the road, unless you want to pay 5x the price as locals to have a closer experience with the monkeys.
Nick R — Google review
An ancient Khmer-style temple and one of Lopburi’s most iconic landmarks. The three connected prangs represent the Hindu Trimurti — Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva — and were later transformed into a Buddhist sanctuary. Not as many monkeys as before, since most of them have been relocated by the municipality, but you can still see some around the area. It’s now much calmer and easier to walk around without worrying about mischievous monkeys. We visited around 4:30 PM, and the temple looked stunning in the soft golden light. The weather was pleasant and not too hot — it gave the place such a cozy, peaceful feeling. The entrance fee for foreigners is 80 THB. Parking is available nearby, and the site is easy to explore. Take less than 30 mins to stroll around and take a bunch of photos. A wonderful stop to admire ancient Khmer architecture, history, and serenity — especially at sunset. 🌅
Thanaporn C — Google review
The most popular landmark of Lopburi and the most lovely animal of the province, monkeys. Went there in May 2025 and they said that most of monkeys were relocated. The monkeys are really cute but they can be a little bit snatchers. You should be extra careful and listen to the officers. Keep all your accessories in your bags. All of the small and shiny things should be put away from their sight including glasses, phones, car keys, keychains, bracelet, necklace and earings. Once you loose it, you never get it back. Please love the monkeys and be kind to them.

One of the famous landmark in Lopburi province. It was a special place for me to visit. The weather was awesome no crowd at all. They take care of the place in a good way. The ticket price is 80THB for foreigners. A good place to visit if you love history.

Nestled in the heart of Lopburi, King Narai's Palace is a captivating historical site that transports visitors back to the 17th century. Originally constructed in 1665 with assistance from French and Italian engineers, this stunning palace complex was designed to host foreign dignitaries. As you stroll through its beautifully restored halls, gardens, and courtyards, you'll encounter a delightful blend of Thai and European architectural styles.
Great historical place and museum. The former palace of King Narai who let Siam gate open to Europe. Close on Monday and Tuesday.

A must visit when in Lopburi. It’s 200b for foreigner adults but children can enter for free, well worth the ticket price, you get an immersion of Thai history, and the grounds very well preserved. Go into the museum when it gets too hot.

Wonderful. It's 150baht for foreigners to enter. Free for children. Car parking is just inside the wall or there is on street parking around the outside. My 6yo daughter really enjoyed exploring the grounds and museums with me. Staff were all very friendly. Will visit again.

If you've come all the way to Lop Buri, may as well see the only other main sight (apart from the zoo) and something different to the usual complex It is in large grounds and peaceful and quiet. Large amount of artifacts and a good explanatory history who was perhaps responsible for keeping away the potential colonists of France, Holland, Britain and the USA.

Large and beautiful palace grounds. Lovely landscapes filled with green parks, tall trees (perhaps a century old), and ancient palace buildings. Some are completely intact, others are in partial ruins. It was nice to stroll through the palace and take many panoramic photos. The entrance fee cost 150 thb for foreign and 30 thb for local visitors. Kids can enter for free. We spent about 1.5 hours here.
Kumanan S — Google review
Duel pricing in place for foreigners, but I don't have a problem with that. Surprisingly good inside, big area with plenty to explore. Enjoyed the museums and would definitely recommend if you're visiting Lopburi. Added bonus, unlike many areas of the city, I didn't see one Monkey.
Geordie A — Google review
Very well worth the 30 baht entry for Thais. Parking available at the front of the museum for free. The Museum provides a lot of interesting history from the stone age and particularly concentrated during the height of lopburi influence (11th & 17th century). Lots of important artefacts that belong in much bigger museums. The palace grounds are not covered and can get very hot but still an interesting walk through the ruins. Ticket can be bought as combo with other lopburi attractions. Be wary of monkeys around on the roads outside during the late afternoons.

Wat Muang is a Buddhist monastery and temple complex in Thailand that houses an impressive 92-meter-tall sitting Buddha statue. Despite its deteriorating state, the temple's mirror design and towering Buddha make it a must-visit destination on the way to Bangkok. Believed by locals to bring good luck for work and wealth, this massive Buddha offers a unique first-time experience for all visitors regardless of faith.
Go. See. Marvel. A super huge buddha image that catches the eye from many km around. When we went they were repainting it so we saw it as a white buddha (as our photo's show). The temple is also amazing and has on display the mummified body of the hrad monk whk created this amazing temple complex.
Rian T — Google review
1. Wat Muang is a landmark temple in Ang Thong Province, located in central Thailand, about 50 kilometers from Ayutthaya. It takes approximately one hour to drive there. The temple is relatively small and easy to navigate, with an average visit lasting around 20 minutes. 2. The temple consists of five main areas: the main hall, a Chinese-style shrine, a sculpture zone, a small garden, and the giant Buddha. The layout is linear. The entrance leads to the main hall, which features a traditional Thai exterior but a rather unusual interior—silver mirrored ceiling, golden chandeliers, silver columns, and a large lotus base, giving it a distinctly eclectic style. 3. To the left of the main hall is a small Chinese-style shrine dedicated to Guanyin (the Thousand-armed Bodhisattva) and Tang Sanzang. Although modest in size, it represents the temple’s fusion of Chinese religious elements, which is common in Thai temples. 4. Between the main hall and the giant Buddha lies the sculpture zone. This area includes statues depicting Buddhist concepts of karmic punishment—such as long-tongued demons, hell guardians, boiling pots, and fire pits—mixed with figures from both Buddhist and Taoist traditions. The overall layout lacks thematic coherence and appears more like a collage of diverse religious symbols. 5. Beyond the sculpture zone is a small garden, leading to the platform of the giant Buddha. The statue, named Phra Buddha Maha Nawamin, is 92 meters tall and 63 meters wide, making it the largest seated Buddha in Thailand. It is currently under maintenance, entirely white in appearance, and the stairway at its base is closed, so visitors cannot approach or climb it. The statue can only be viewed from a distance. 6. For photography, the best angle is from the rice field outside the temple, where the Buddha can be framed with green paddies and blue sky. It’s recommended to avoid midday due to heat; early morning or late afternoon offers better lighting. 7. The temple is free to enter and generally quiet, with few tourists. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed.

The largest seated Buddha in Thailand. Currently being painted. On all my visits, it has never been possible to walk up the steps to the Buddha, like seen on many videos. Maybe that is only open on certain religious days. In any case, it is a must visit. The hell-torture statues are unusual but I wish there were some English descriptions.

This temple is one of the main attractions in Thailand, although the province is quite unknown for most tourists. The main point here is that it's the site of the largest Buddha statue in Thailand. There's plenty of space to park and it's really worth visiting. i'd recommend bringing an umbrella as the site of the Buddha statue is in the open sun, and it's really bright and hot on most days.

Christopher L — Google review
The temple is originally a row-dug site from the late Ayutthaya Kingdom (around 2230 B.E.). It was destroyed during the Burmese invasion (around 2310 B.E.) and remained a ruin for a long time. The official name of the Great Buddha statue is Phra Phuttha Mahanawamintra Sakayamuni Sri Wiset Chai Chan. It was erected as a tribute to King Bhumibol on the 50th anniversary of his accession to the throne. It is made of concrete and painted gold, with a height of approximately 93 meters and an estimated width (foot) of 62–63 meters. Construction took 16 years, from around 1991–2008. This makes it Thailand's largest Buddha statue, the second largest in Southeast Asia, and one of the tallest in the world. In addition to the great Buddha, there is a temple and a whole series of figures that symbolize all the suffering that humans will face in hell for the evil deeds they have committed.

Wat Pa Lelai Worawihan is a renowned historic temple in Thailand, featuring a grand sitting Buddha and vibrant murals. The royal emblem of King Rama IV adorns the wihan, where the centerpiece is the revered Luangpho To Buddha image.
It is a royal temple as evident from the royal emblem of King Rama IV on the gable of the wihan. While practising austerity during his monkhood, the king found this temple and had it restored after his succession to the throne. It is surmised that this royal temple was built during the days of glory of the town. The Northern Chronicle says King Katae assigned a young Mon to renovate the temple after the year 1181. A huge Buddha image known as ‘Luangpho To’ in the elegant image hall or Wihan is the centre of faith for Buddhist people. With a height of 23.46 metres, the Buddha image is seated in the European style in the posture known as Palilayaka, accepting offerings from an elephant and a monkey, the art from U Thong Suphannaphum period. 🌹 Wat Pa Lelai Worawihan 🌻 Wat Pa Lelai Worawihan in Suphan Buri Province is an ancient temple of great historical and Buddhist significance. Its most striking feature is the large Luang Pho To Buddha image, enshrined in the exquisitely architectural viharn. Paying homage to Luang Pho To is considered auspicious, as it is believed to be sacred and bestow success. Furthermore, the viharn houses murals depicting the life of the Buddha and folklore, making a visit to the temple not only a place of worship but also a place of learning and immersion in Thai art and culture. 🌺 The atmosphere within Wat Pa Lelai Worawihan is peaceful and shady, perfect for making merit and practicing Dhamma. Despite the large number of visitors, the temple grounds are well-managed to ensure that it never feels crowded. There are plenty of places to walk around and explore, and shops selling souvenirs and food are located around the temple grounds, making a visit a complete experience, combining merit-making, sightseeing, and relaxation. The Wat Pa Lelai Waorawihan in Suphanburi is famous for two reasons: the 23.46 meter high Buddha statue and where some scenes from the famous Thai epic Khun Chang Khun Phaen take place. The Wat Pa Lelai is classified as a third class royal temple and therefore has the designation Worawihan.

Wat Phra Si Sanphet is a remarkable temple in Ayutthaya, Thailand. It was constructed during the 14th century and features three restored towers, with the central and eastern ones built in classic Ayutthaya style influenced by Ceylon architecture. The site also includes a viharn that houses a 16-meter high golden Buddha image coated with 170 kilograms of gold. This temple holds great historical significance as it once housed the ashes of several former Thai Kings for centuries.
What an amazing slice of Thailand's history. For 80 Bart enjoy a wonderful walk thru this magnificent place. The grounds are kept clean and tidy. If you can, try and get in early. This place is very popular and by 10:00am there are lots of people. Getting in at opening time will give you more opportunity to get those photos done.

A beautiful place for sure!! Be aware foreigners do pay way more than natives. 10 baht for Thai and 80 baht for foreigners. Also some of the parts you WILL need to dress for temple attire so no shorts and tank top. We went on a very hot and humid mid day so bringing drinks is very important. They do have umbrellas you can take to protect yourself from the sun. For the one with the very big tower (first picture) you WILL need an umbrella as there are barely any trees. Don't mind the stray dogs walking around there either.

Wat Phra Si Sanphet houses the three majestic Chedis each of which houses the remains of three Kings of Ayutthya. During the Burmese invasion 2 of 3 chedis were completely destroyed. However they were restored much later. The entry tickets are 50 bahts for foreigners and they offer umbrellas for free at the gate. This is located on the royal grounds of the Ayutthya Kingdom and the construction of the temple started as early as 1365 AD. The ground is huge and takes more than half an hour to explore. The grounds, the gardens are well kept by the staff. Visit early morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the harsh sun.

Reputed to be the most ancient temple in Ayutthaya, Wat Phra Si Sanphet was built in 1351, and the area served as a royal palace. Wat Phra Si Sanphet was once the most sacred temple on the site of the old Royal Palace. The temple and palace ground ruins later served as a model for Wat Phra Kaew in the present-day capital of Bangkok. It is most well known for its three majestic, towering chedis.
Julius T — Google review
One of my favourites temple. You need to come and experience yourself. But I do hope for all the things in Ayutthaya. There could be more explanation of the history sites rather than just the buildings and artifacts. Hard to appreciate with depths.
JooZoo W — Google review
Exploring Wat Phra Si Sanphet was one of the most meaningful moments during my time in Ayutthaya. Standing among the ruins of what used to be the most sacred royal temple in the ancient capital, I was humbled by its history and beauty. The three towering chedis—majestic and solemn—seemed to guard centuries of stories. What made this temple different from the others was its exclusivity. It wasn’t open to monks, only for royal use. Knowing that this was once the spiritual heart of the Ayutthaya Kingdom made the experience feel even more special. The place felt quiet, reverent—despite other visitors being around, there was a respectful hush in the air. I was particularly struck by the story of the massive 16-meter Buddha statue once housed here, which was covered in gold before being destroyed during the Burmese invasion. Even in ruins, you could still feel the sacred energy that once filled this space. The best part was just slowing down and sitting on one of the steps, watching the sun hit the chedis at just the right angle. It wasn’t just a photo opportunity—it was a moment of reflection. If you plan to visit, go early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the heat and crowds. Dress modestly—it’s a sacred site after all. This visit reminded me that history isn’t just about buildings or dates. Sometimes, it’s about a quiet walk through a centuries-old temple, feeling the past gently echo around you.

Wat Mahathat is a Buddhist temple in Ayutthaya, known for its colorful shrines and famous Buddha head entwined in tree roots. The temple was once at the heart of Ayutthaya city but was destroyed during the Burmese invasion. Despite the damage, it remains a historical and cultural landmark. Visitors can explore the temple grounds, marvel at its impressive architecture, and learn about Thailand's rich religious heritage.
Been waiting to see this iconic image and it didn’t fall short of our expectations. The entire area is so clean and kept so well just like all tourist spots in Thailand. The crowd was amazing and everyone stood to take their photos and moved fast. On the whole it was a fabulous experience. Must see people who love cultural experiences, the entire temple has some beautiful structures and statues.

This place is full of history and has such a relaxing atmosphere. Walking around the ruins feels like stepping back in time, with every corner showing something interesting. The Buddha head in the tree roots is very unique and even more impressive in real life than in photos. It’s a beautiful spot to take pictures, learn about the past, and just enjoy some quiet moments away from the busy city. Definitely worth a visit.

One of the most famous temples in Ayutthaya, renowned for the most photographed Buddha head encased within the tree roots. Legend has it that a thief had intended to sell the Buddha head but was either forced to abandon it at the spot or the head was too heavy for him to carry further away, and so he had to leave it there. Over time, tree roots began to envelop the Buddha's head, and hence, this peculiar and unique landmark was formed. One can pray to the Buddha Head, but you must kneel and remove your shoes to show your respect.

We visited Wat Mahathat as part of a group tour to the ancient city of Ayutthaya. It is a fantastic place that is full of history. It was the capital prior to Bangkok but was completely burned down by an invasion in 1767. This place just oozes history and it is a great day trip on a visit to Bangkok. It's about an hour or hour and a half by car or there are many daily trains from Bangkok that take one hour and are very cheap. This is also where you can see the buddha head that has been surrounded by the roots of the sacred banyan tree. You should definitely try to make the time if you're in the area. There are a number of other sites only five to ten minutes away also.

The remnants of the Ayutthya Kingdom. The Ayutthya Kingdom was one of the most thriving dynasties of South east asia before it was attacked by the Burmese Konboung dynasty. Wat Mahathat is one such remnant of the Ayutthya dynasty. The entry ticket is 50 baht for non thai national and dress code mandates covered shoulder and knees. There are a few gifts shops right beside the ticket counter where one can rent a scarf or trousers. The place is spotless clean and serene. One can feel the calmness and peace in the air. The place definitely lives upto the hype and is a must visit spot in Ayutthya. The Buddha head in the tree is the top attraction here. But the crowd here is well managed and everyone gets a chance to take a pic. Do carry umbrella and water while visiting. Late afternoon is the best time yo visit

Sights & Landmarks
Wat Chaiwatthanaram is a stunning 17th-century royal Buddhist temple located in a picturesque riverside setting. It is part of the Ayutthaya Historical Park and is renowned as one of the most Instagram-worthy temples in Ayutthaya. The temple's perfectly preserved ruins make it a must-visit attraction, along with the impressive complex of Wat Yai Chai Mongkol.
Tragically beautiful and impressive temple ruins. It’s a rather large temple complex with many Buddha statues with most of them missing their head. Our tour guide related to us how the Burmese army sacked and destroyed the temple in 1767 during the invasion. Heads of the statues were decapitated by the Burmese soldiers in search of valuables and jewellery said to be hidden in the torsos of the Buddha statues. This former royal temple truly deserves a visit.

What a truly remarkable historical site. The temple ruins are incredibly awe-inspiring and evoke a deep sense of wonder. It feels like the perfect place to capture beautiful memories and photos. Visiting here is both uplifting and soothing to the spirit. The sunlight and the boiling hot weather in the middle of the day might be the only downside of this exễprience but they also give you an umbrella to make up for that

Amazeballs! Simply stunning, by far best cultural landmark I have visited in TH! It might may not have the grandeur of a golden temple or palace, but has it respectfully place of significance in Thai and human history.
C Y — Google review
Beautiful ruins of an ancient temple in Ayutthaya. Easy day trip from Bangkok by train or private car. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Entrance fee can be combined with the other temples for 300 Baht all together. Most of the smaller temples are free to enter.

Overall, I do enjoy everything in Ayutthaya. But just hope there are more explanations and not just a place for taking instragammable pictures. Hopefully, the authorities can make it more educational with better quality explanations. Otherwise, history will be forgotten for such an amazing place.
JooZoo W — Google review
Part of Ayutthaya Historical Park, this ruined, wrenchingly beautiful Buddhist temple is an unseo site, with a central 115 feet prang, four smaller prangs, and eight Chedi-shaped chapels, on a rectangular platform. Some dos and don'ts: Taboos: food drink smoking climbing scratching sitting bottle of water is allowed tho. Outfit taboos: strapless tank top wide neck crop top shorts, low waist pants miniskirt No, you don't need to take your shoes off. This Temple was built in 1630 by Siam's King, Prasat Thong (1599-1655), as a memorial to his mother's residence. It was his first Temple during his reign. The name meant Temple of long reign and glorious era. Located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, outside Ayutthaya island, this site a major tourist attraction. Many young women (perhaps locals?) rent the traditional outfits from many shops across the street, and use the park as a background for photos. Many of our tour mates squeezed in for a show, and they politely welcomed/tolerated us.
Irene E — Google review
Large ruins , 80 bht entry for tourists. Many shops here if u want to dress traditional thai and have your pic taken professionally. Having work done at entrance so scaffolding covered a main part (check photo)

Casual visit, nice historical place to visit. Scorching hot sun, wear sun block. Chao phraya river was over flow during my visit caused many place to be flooded.

Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon is a restored Buddhist temple in Ayutthaya, featuring stupas and a huge reclining Buddha along with smaller seated ones in a row. The temple was built during the 14th century and is the largest and most important in Ayutthaya. It houses two large chedis built in classic Ayutthaya style, influenced by Ceylon architecture.
20 bath for ticket. Very peaceful place. Go slowly and enjoy it. Have some nuns stay here. The temple not much but the atmosphere quite nice.
Thu N — Google review
A well-known temple for praying for children and fertility. Many people visit to worship, and those who’ve had their prayers answered come back to offer toys and children’s clothes in gratitude. It’s lively and full of energy — one of the most charming temples in Ayutthaya.
EISUKE I — Google review
Founded in 1357, this is an active temple with resident Buddhist monks. There is a large white reclining Buddha in the temple. Many Buddhists come to pay respects at this historic site. Visitors can climb up a flight of stairs into the main temple complex where they can pray for good fortune by dropping a coin into the wishing well. The bell shaped chedi is the main attraction in this beautiful ancient temple.

This place is very beautiful. The pagoda is very big. It is an old temple. There is a big reclining Buddha and a small reclining Buddha. It is charming, shady, and peaceful. Many people come here. There is a lot of parking. There are many restaurants outside the temple. I like this place.

Beautiful and peaceful temple with great historical value. The big reclining Buddha and the main chedi are very impressive. The place is clean, well maintained, and perfect for photos. A must-visit when in Ayutthaya!

Spectacular. The Buddhas guarding the main temple are truly impressive, as are the many others surrounding the principal tower. It’s definitely worth climbing to the top to appreciate the entire complex from above.

Flea & Street Markets
The Wat Lam Phaya Floating Market, situated in Nakon Pathom province in Thailand's Lampaya district, is a popular destination for locals seeking a diverse range of goods. The market operates on weekends from morning until around 3 p.m. and offers an array of products including food, fish, and locally made household items. Visitors can enjoy unique boat services that allow them to purchase food while cruising on the river.
The temple always stunning with history and statue. It is convenient by local floating around. All good except restrooms need to pay more attention of cleanliness and equipment should work well.
Kwanchai Y — Google review
This floating market had very cheap vegetable which you can plant them such as morning glory, spring onion & cheap fruits such as mango, guava tangerine etc./ delicious local food such as Pad Thai with fresh shrimp, delicious Pork Satay, famous take away pork Panang, 1.30 hour boat trip which you pay THB60/head and Amulet market which cheap & bargaining prices. This market is not far from Bangkok. You can see the beautiful rice fields along the way. This market opens only weekend and holiday. I recommended this market because farmers sell their own fruits & vegetable. You can consult with these farmers.

The atmosphere at Wat Lamphaya Floating Market is delightful, providing a serene refuge with its beautiful temple architecture. Situated along the Chao Phraya River, the view of the tranquil waterway beneath the shaded surroundings is captivating. The traditional market adds an authentic touch, featuring local products and delicious offerings like flavorful noodles and aromatic coffee. Highly recommend visiting for a relaxing cultural experience.
TEERUT P — Google review
If you’re looking for a true floating market in Thailand this one won’t disappoint. Though not all vendors are on boats. There’s a large platform on floating pontoons where stalls cook lots of Thai food. There are seating areas but very limited. It’s only open on the weekends so many locals come here to eat and shop. There are very little foreign tourists.
W. C — Google review
I looking to the place for short visit. This market is opened on Songkarn holiday aswell. The market provide a lot of food. I like yellow pork grill with sweet sauce. Food is not expensive. Enjoy eating at this market.
NaRuK_K N — Google review
A local market that you can find local produce, snack, foods, and even trees! I found kanom-tuoy here is very good and cheap. Better visit here early like late morning before lunch to avoid crowded.

Enjoy eating and shopping here. There are many kind of local Thai foods available in the market, as well as local fruits and vegetables. Before leaving, try to feed the hungry fishes in the Tha Jeen river.

Not too far from Bangkok, you can see floating marketing and enjoy eating here, especially local food. It is not too crowded open on Saturday and Sunday only.

Wat Phra Dhammakaya

Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Dhammakaya Temple, a non-profit center and Buddhist temple complex, provides Dhammakaya meditation classes and activities. The pagoda featuring one million Buddhas is a must-see attraction. During my visit at 11am, I witnessed a ceremony at the dining hall and was offered free lunch which included delicious soy bean milk. The cleanliness and organization were remarkable, especially in how plates and utensils were washed. Despite many visitors present, the atmosphere remained calm.
I was surprised by the reception I received at Wat Phra Dhammakaya. I saw online broadcasts of events from this place and decided to go. I didn’t make any arrangements with anyone. I just arrived and got lost because the area was large. A girl came up to me and asked me what I was doing there. I told her everything. They assigned me a volunteer who took me to registration. Then they gave me a tour. Since it was Saturday, there weren’t many people. The tour lasted about 2 hours. The scale of this place is amazing. The atmosphere of this place is very different from other Buddhist temples and monasteries. I felt a little uncomfortable here. I felt like I was not in a Buddhist monastery, but in a well-organized commercial enterprise based on the principle of network marketing. The forms, scale and approaches to management reminded me of Scientologists. I think this is a great place for personality dissolution. If you are in Bangkok, stop by for a tour.

Magnificent place filled with lots of positive energy, managed by many passionate individuals. The tour is free of charge, best to contact and book in advance. Very personalised, got to experience and learn more about meditation and history of the temple.

An absolutely incredible experience. The tour guides were wonderful and I was extremely well looked after and the service is wonderful. They took me around this magnificent temple, where peace and heart and kindness are to be found. Mesmerising and mind-blowing scale; really incredible to have been able to experience visiting such a magnificent place.

A very huge holy place. The whole compound is very serene & Zen-like. A buggy is provided in the tour. The centre staff & volunteers are very welcoming, warm & sincere. I was early & managed to attend the Sunday morning meditation. Will strongly recommend anyone interested in meditation to visit. Don't miss! Especially if you are in Bangkok. Think there is a 3-5days Temple Stay programme every month. It is a great way to pick up or deepen on meditation & mindfulness techniques.

Very peaceful place with unique Buddhist temples and very friendly people. We had great tour there and learn new things about Buddhism. Also they made memorable photos for us. Highly recommend you to visit this place if you want to find the inner peace. Donations are welcome, but not mandatory and no one will push you to make it. But I think it’s good way to say “thank you” for everything you’ll get in this incredible place.

Water & Amusement Parks
Dream World is a lively amusement park located on the outskirts of Bangkok, offering a wide range of attractions for visitors of all ages. From thrilling roller coasters like the Sky Coaster and Hurricane to family-friendly rides such as Speedy Mouse and Haunted Mansion, there's something for everyone. The park also features entertaining theater performances, themed play areas for kids, and opportunities to meet fairytale characters.
Dream World Thailand exceeded all our expectations and delivered an unforgettable experience! From the moment we entered, the park was vibrant, well-organized, and full of energy. There’s truly something for everyone — thrilling rides like the Sky Coaster and Hurricane for adrenaline junkies, and charming attractions like Snow Town and the Giant’s House that kids and families will absolutely love. The entire park is beautifully maintained with themed zones that are perfect for photos — especially the Fairy Tale Land, which looks like it’s straight out of a storybook. The staff were friendly and helpful, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. We also appreciated the clean facilities and availability of food options throughout the park, catering to a range of tastes. One of the highlights was the Hollywood Action Show — a fun, high-energy performance that added something extra to our day. We easily spent the whole day here and still felt like there was more to explore. Highly recommended for families, couples, or groups of friends looking for a full day of fun, laughter, and memories. Dream World truly lives up to its name!

We visited Dream World with a Super Visa pass — perfect for kids but equally fun for adults! 🎉 The park has around 42 exciting rides, including the Hurricane and Vikings (my favorites!). Some rides had a small queue (10–15 mins), but totally worth it. Tip: Take breaks between rides to avoid motion sickness — doing rides back-to-back made us feel a bit sick. 🤢 One of the highlights was Snow Town ❄️ — our first time experiencing snow! No queue at all, and we were given jackets and boots before entering. Inside, it was freezing cold, and we had so much fun making snow figures, catching falling snow, and taking photos in beautiful snowy spots. 📸 The park is super clean, full of food options, shops, and fun activities. Once inside, we felt like kids again! 👶✨ Highly recommend for families, groups, and adults who love childlike fun. ⭐ Rating: 5/5 – A must-visit in Thailand!

Nice place to visit for rides and a full on theme park vibe. Ideal for kids and adults both. Has some exciting rides with thrills. A decent lunch buffet can also be purchased but plenty of other stalls to buy sbacks and food from as well. Weekends are crowded. Ticket counter opens by 10am. Make sure to be there on time and start with the rides located at the back of the park so that you can start before the crowd comes. Rides seem a bit old but maintaned well. Best to buy tickets online as the price is better. For Snow town jackets and boots are provided. Overall fun experience for a good value.

We just spent the most incredible day at Bangkok Dream World and I cannot recommend it enough for families! Forget any outdated reviews you might have read; our experience was nothing short of magical from start to finish. We visited on a sunny Monday, and while there was a cheerful buzz of energy, the lines for most rides were incredibly manageable. The moment you walk through the entrance and see the iconic castle and colorful storybook buildings, you feel transported to a real-life fairy tale. The park is immaculately clean, and the staff throughout were consistently friendly, helpful, and full of smiles, which really added to the positive atmosphere. There was the perfect mix of gentle rides, like the spinning cups and the delightful boat ride through Snow Town, and more thrilling adventures for our eldest, who braved the Viking ship and the super fun log flume—be prepared to get wet! The absolute highlight for all of us was the suspended roller coaster. It was an adrenaline-pumping blast, smooth and exhilarating, with fantastic views of the park. We also loved the cable car; it was a peaceful way to see the entire park from above and plan our next move. We met several costumed characters who were playful and engaging, and the photo opportunities around every corner are endless. We enjoyed a great lunch at one of the food courts, with a wide variety of tasty and affordable Thai and international options to keep everyone happy. Bangkok Dream World far exceeded our expectations. It’s the perfect size to explore in a day without feeling rushed, it’s beautifully maintained, and it offers a wonderful balance of excitement and charm. It’s a hidden gem that provided us with priceless family memories. We will absolutely be back! If you're looking for a fun, wholesome, and utterly delightful day out with your family, look no further.

Whether you're visiting with kids, friends, or as a couple, there's something for everyone. 🎢 Rides & Attractions: Adrenaline junkies will love thrilling rides like the Sky Coaster and Hurricane, while families and younger visitors can enjoy charming attractions such as Fairy Tale Land, Giant’s House, and the magical Snow Town — where you can experience real snow in the middle of tropical Thailand! 📸 Themed Zones & Photo Spots: The park is beautifully maintained and packed with themed areas that make for fantastic photo opportunities. Fairy Tale Land especially feels like stepping into a storybook, and the oversized props in the Giant’s House are perfect for quirky, fun photos. 🎭 Shows & Entertainment: Live performances like the Hollywood Action Show and parades add excitement and variety throughout the day. They’re well-timed and entertaining for all ages. 🛝 Water Park & Relaxation: After enjoying the rides, the Water Park is a great way to cool down and relax — especially if you're tired after exploring. It's a nice balance between adventure and leisure. 🍜 Food & Facilities: Food options are reasonably priced, with both Thai and international dishes available. We found clean restrooms, shaded rest areas, and plenty of seating. For example, a plate of chicken fried rice was just 70 Baht and came with unlimited salad! 🎟️ Tips for Visitors: • Buy tickets online in advance for discounts and quicker entry. • We opted for the day pass with unlimited access, which was great value. • Try starting with attractions that have shorter queues and leave the longer ones for later — lines tend to shorten in the afternoon. • Weekdays are less crowded, with minimal wait times (as little as 5–7 minutes for some rides). • Some attractions like the go-kart track require basic driving skills. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Perfect for: Families with children, groups of friends, couples, or even solo travelers looking to escape into a world of imagination and fun. Verdict: Dream World lives up to its name! It's a well-rounded theme park offering fun, laughter, and lasting memories for visitors of all ages. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Bangkok.

Compared to many other amusement parks, Dream World is often noted for being relatively affordable. Ko Kret is a rural, artificial island located in the Chao Phraya River at the northern end of Bangkok. It is inhabited mostly by Mon immigrants who have preserved their original cultures, offering visitors a chance to experience traditional handmade ceramics and unique local cuisine. The island's traffic-free lanes and rustic atmosphere provide a peaceful escape from the city, allowing for leisurely walks and exploration.
It is an island north of Chao Phraya in Bangkok. It is famous for its ceramics and is crowded with many tourists on weekends. If you take public transportation, get off at Pak Kret and it is a 5-minute walk, or you can take a motorcycle taxi to the pier. You can get to the island in 2-3 minutes from the pier. If you take a boat, you can see a leaning temple, and you can cycle around the island on a bicycle. You can see many temples and cafes along the river. Personally, I recommend walking around the island, going to a cafe to rest if you are hot or tired, and then walking again. It is not bad to cycle around.

A charming little local island not far from Bangkok. The island is full of life — with local markets, riverside cafés, and even the unique experience of roasting and brewing your own coffee. You’ll also find beautiful temples and high-quality local products. Visitors can easily get around the island by motorbike taxi or rent a bicycle. Best to visit in the morning to enjoy everything at a relaxed pace.

Came here on a Monday, very quiet. I loved my visit here but should have rented a bicycle (only 40 baht/day). I ended up walking around 6 km. It feels like you've stepped back in time, particularly the further away you go from the ferry point. Charming place with its small tracks suitable for walking, cycling, or scooters; no cars here. Little workshops, wooden shacks, small Caffès/Restaurant and a pottery. You can get here using the Pink Line, then 25 Baht motorcycle taxi to ferry point.

This is the perfect weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok City. I rented an electric scooter for an hour and navigated the well kept pathways. Stopped in for a coffee and a bite to eat at one of the many intimate waterfront cafes. Seems a world away from the traffic and noise across the other side of the river.

I recently visited this charming island and had a lovely experience, especially when I skipped the touristy area and walked around the fields. There's an abundance of fruit trees and a variety of birds, which was quite delightful to see. However, there are quite a few stray dogs around, which can be a bit unsettling. Sometimes they follow people around, hoping for some food. Despite the distance to get there and the stray dog issue, I think the island is definitely worth a visit at least once.

On weekends, when I arrived in the morning, I managed to park in a nearby parking lot. It is located under the elevated railway, near the temple. The ferry is really a quick ride and costs 3 baht per person. As for the island we were looking for... it is very hot during the day, and the stores along the arcade are stuffy, so you should be careful of heat stroke. If you are not physically fit, I recommend going in the evening. The food stalls are inexpensive. Food stalls are inexpensive, but cafes charge city rates. Bicycle rental is 40-150b,. But you may have to wait to rent one. The island is narrow, so be careful when riding. Once you visit here, I guess that's enough.
Chunenma-i — Google review
A nice island located in the northern part of Bangkok and is accessible via a ferry from Wat Sanam Nuea for a very minimal cost (paid upon arrival to the island), which covers round trip. To get to the ferry terminal, expect about 1 hour commute by car (2+ hours by public transportation) from central Bangkok. The island has a single circular road which goes through shop stalls, restaurants, coffee, nature, etc... one can rent bikes but it seems like a too short (6-7km) round for it.
