The Hidden Lake Trail starts at the Logan Pass Visitor Center and takes hikers through diverse terrain, from forested areas to alpine meadows teeming with wildlife and colorful wildflowers. The trail leads to the iconic Hidden Lake Overlook, where visitors can admire Bearhat Mountain towering over the twinkling alpine blue lake.
🌄 Breathtaking Beauty at Logan Pass! 🌄 Logan Pass is truly the crown jewel of the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park! The drive itself is spectacular, but reaching Logan Pass feels like arriving in a whole different world. Towering peaks, lush alpine meadows, and sweeping vistas in every direction — it’s picture-perfect at every turn. The Hidden Lake Overlook trail is a must-do if you visit. It’s a relatively short hike with incredible rewards: wildflowers, mountain goats, and panoramic views that make you stop and just take it all in. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, so get there early or take the shuttle — it’s absolutely worth it. Whether you’re here for a scenic drive, wildlife spotting, or hiking, Logan Pass delivers a truly unforgettable experience. Don’t miss it!
Pratik R — Google review
Beautiful area for hiking and sightseeing! Driving is a little steep and road is narrow. Parking is hard to get in the day time.
Julian M — Google review
What a PLACE!!! Absolutely stunning. Be sure to plan ahead and get the right passes. You need a pass to access the road and parking fills up fast. But the gorgeous hikes, views and wildlife sightings are unlike any others. It’s worth it to get up there early and watch the sunrise!
Rachel R — Google review
The short (about 3 miles round-trip) hike captures the majestic beauty of Glacier NP. More often than not, Bearhat Mountain & Hidden Lake are graced by the iconic mountain sheep with pure white coats. The toughest part of the trip is finding a parking spot at Logan Pass. Best plan is get to Logan Pass before sunrise or simply roll the dice. One plan is drop one couple off, return in 1.5 hours, and second couple takes the hike and pictures.
Lester K — Google review
Have visited a few times. Incredible views at Logan Pass which is about 6,400'. Trails here a little strenuous yet if you take your time, you'll likely find it was worth it. Since the park is open 24/7, we came back at midnight and took some cool night sky pictures. No light pollution at all. Glacier National Park is a splendid awe-inspiring view of nature at it'la finest.
D Z — Google review
Beautiful area. If you don’t want to fight for parking you need to arrive EARLY. Arrived at 6:30am got one of the last parking spots.
April C — Google review
A must-see on Going to the Sun road in Glacier. Very, very busy area though and we could not find parking anywhere around the Pass which was disappointing.
Christine V — Google review
There's no parking, too many mountains, the roads feel unsafe, the trails feel unsafe, it smells like DS, Devon kept marching ahead and wouldn't slow down, my knee hurts...2 stars

Sights & Landmarks
Nestled on a scenic bluff overlooking the majestic Missouri River, the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Great Falls serves as a captivating tribute to one of America's most iconic explorations. This spacious museum invites visitors to embark on an immersive journey through the 1804-06 expedition led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. With engaging exhibits that trace their remarkable 8,000-mile trek across western North America, guests can delve into the rich history of this monumental adventure.
A great museum for adults, I think it wouldn't be as fun for kids. This is a beautiful building in a gorgeous location! We paid and went right in to the theater. The video was not too long and very informative. The main part of the museum is downstairs and it was easy to follow the path from room to room. There are some really great artifacts and pictures. My favorites were the earth house and log boat. There was a lot of reading but if you're interested in the topic it was all very interesting and worthwhile. I would love to come back in summer and do some of the paths in the area. There is a gift shop but I can't say it has a lot of ready stuff, pretty basic. Overall a great experience and worth the visit.
Melissa J — Google review
We were traveling through on our way to Alaska and stopped here to visit the center. Amazing! There is afee to enter, however if you hold the America the Beautiful pass, senior pass or military pass, or any of the other federal passes, you enter for free. The history here was so enlightening. We learned things we did not know. They have movies throughout the day on different subjects. We arched the one on the Portage. So interesting. You can enter the theater from the upper or lower level. The exhibits in the center were very informative. The exhibits are mostly on the lower level. There are stairs or you can take an elevator. There are items of interest outside and a fantastic walking path along the Missouri River. The staff was so wonderful. There is also a small gift shop. I collect magnets so I was able to pick one up. There is a great covered picnic area over near the teepee that you can enjoy lunch or a snack. After we visited the center, we knew we had to drive out to the Great Falls waterfall, which we wouldn't have known about if we hadn't stopped here. If you are coming to stay in Great Falls or just passing through, you really need to stop here.

Interesting presentation of Lewis and Clark's expedition across untamed America. It covers the incredibly difficult and brutal conditions these men endured crossing the continent.
D Z — Google review
This was an excellent Lewis and Clark exhibit! We have been traveling the Lewis and Clark trail and have visited many different centers. This is the most complete, covering all parts and days of the voyage. Great for kids too!
Kris V — Google review
Arguably the best part of this museum is the staff (the same does not apply to the gift shop staff … that was a bad experience) they were knowledgeable, fun, and really seemed to enjoy their jobs. Aside from the staff, the museum itself was well done. The exhibits were well explained and told the story of Lewis and Clark with clarity. One item of note, at the end of exhibits are a few cases of guns, go to that case and look at the top most gun at the front. That’s a replica of the repeating air rifle, a true marvel of engineering and what the Indians were shown as Lewis and Clark traveled. Imagine seeing a rifle that didn’t need gunpowder, was quiet when shot, and didn’t create muzzle flash. That’d be fairly amazing to see in a world of muzzle loaded weapons. Anyway, highly recommend place to visit.
Alain G — Google review
I had an excellent experience here. The museum has lots of very interesting exhibits, and all of the descriptions are very well made. I learned a lot of the local history just from my short visit, but I could have been entertained there all day. I highly recommend, and I will be stopping by again to check out some areas I missed.

Felt incredibly close to nature out here. The boat ride was peaceful and full of beauty—so many bald eagles, natural rock arches, bird nests tucked into cliffs, and even ancient pictographs telling stories of Indigenous culture. Our tour guide, Kara, shared many fun facts about the canyon rock formation and history. A truly special place that blends wild scenery with deep history.

Cathedral of Saint Helena

Mentioned on

Catholic cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
The Cathedral of Saint Helena, built in 1908, is a stunning Neo-Gothic structure inspired by Vienna's Votive Church. Its twin spires and beautiful baptistry make it a standout in the city's skyline. Despite sustaining damage in the 1935 earthquake, the cathedral has undergone significant restoration. Visitors can experience the ambiance of a European cathedral right in Montana and are welcome to explore its interior at any time.
We visited the Cathedral of Santa Helena, opened in 1908, and modeled after the Votivkirche, Vienna, which we visited a few years ago! They have similarities but many differences. The hours are very accessible every day but Sunday, where they close in the early afternoon. This is a beautiful, welcoming space, and choir music played throughout our visit. It is inspiring to just sit and gaze at the stained glass artwork, in addition to the marble and wood architecture. We loved it.
Dan P — Google review
The Cathedral of St. Helena was constructed at the turn of the century during the episcopate of Bishop John Carroll. It is an outstanding example of Geometric Gothic architecture, patterned after the Votive Church of the Sacred Heart in Vienna, Austria. Stained glass windows, white marble altars, statues carved of the purest Carrara marble, and genuine gold leaf decorates the sanctuary. The pews and woodwork are all done in hand carved oak. The magnificent lighting fixtures are of hand-forged bronze with a special lacquer finish. Outside, majestic twin spires rise 230 feet above the street. Open year-round, Monday - Saturday 7:00am to 6:00pm and 7:00am - 12:30pm on Sundays. Prearranged guided tours take one hour. Please call the parish office to arrange for a tour. Daily Mass in the Cathedral, Monday and Friday at 7:00am and Tuesday through Thursday at 7:00am and 12:00pm. Saturday 9:00am. Weekend masses: Saturday at 5:15pm. Sunday at 7:30am, 9:00am, and 11:00am. It is located at 530 North Ewing Street, Helena, MT 59601
Doug H — Google review
This church is absolutely unbelievable. The fact that it’s located in the middle of Montana and isn’t highly recognized across the nation is truly surprising. The stained glass was unlike anything I’ve ever seen—and that’s coming from someone who has visited many of the major basilicas across Europe. The beauty, craftsmanship, and overall atmosphere here are outstanding. This was truly an unforgettable experience, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Yannik W — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous! Be sure to visit when guided tours are available if you are interested in history or architecture, they are well worth the time!
Darlene J — Google review
A stunning 'hidden gem' in a quiet neighborhood in Helena MT. The architecture is lovely. Inside - it reminds me of some of the old churches in Europe. Beautiful arches, high ceilings and the stained glass - breathtaking. So peaceful.

Museum of the Rockies

Nestled in Bozeman, the Museum of the Rockies is a treasure trove for anyone fascinated by dinosaurs and the rich history of the Rocky Mountain region. Home to an impressive array of dinosaur fossils, including a real Tyrannosaurus skull and even a thigh bone with fossilized remnants, this museum boasts one of the largest collections of dinosaur bones in America. As part of Montana State University, it also serves as a hub for paleontological research led by renowned scientist Dr.
After years of wanting to see this, we finally did. The museum is great for families to visit with various interactive exhibits for kids. I would say 90% of the museum pertains to dinosaur and other fossils but also has information and artifacts from the area in general. There is a homesteaders house you get to go through as part of the admission.
Calvin K — Google review
Perfect activity when you don’t have a lot of time in Bozeman! This is a beautiful museum that features a lot of dinosaurs, dinosaur interactions and information. If you like BIG dinosaur skeletons, this is your place. There is also a very comfortable small planetarium that is a perfect place to relax after touring the museum with a variety of good shows and a very nominal price. Please DON’T forget the period house that is located outside! It is a real walk back in time! There is a very nice sized gift shop and a small cafe there as well.

A Dinosaur Lover's Dream: The Museum of the Rockies The Museum of the Rockies is a perfect activity for anyone visiting Bozeman, especially if you’re short on time. This beautiful museum is a must-see for dinosaur lovers, featuring a vast collection of impressive, well-maintained dinosaur skeletons and engaging exhibits. Beyond the incredible dinosaur displays, the museum also offers a variety of other attractions. You can relax and enjoy a show at the comfortable, small planetarium for a nominal price. Don't forget to visit the period house located outside—it's a real walk back in time! The museum also features a nice-sized gift shop and a small cafe. With its amazing, rotating exhibits (like the past Marvel Comics display), there is always something new to see. It’s a highly recommended and educational experience for all ages, offering a great way to learn and explore through real skeletons, sculptures, photos, and movies.
Vasista K — Google review
Museum of the Rockies is such a cool place to explore! If you’re into dinosaur bones, this is the place to be. Their exhibits are some of the most impressive and well-maintained I’ve ever seen. I also love that they feature rotating exhibits — about a year ago, I caught the Marvel Comics one, and it was amazing! Definitely a must-visit if you’re looking for things to do in Bozeman.
Gunner J — Google review
Absolutely loved our visit to the Museum of the Rockies! The exhibits are fascinating and beautifully curated — especially the incredible dinosaur collection. There’s so much to see and learn for both kids and adults, and everything is presented in a way that keeps you engaged from start to finish. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the museum itself is clean, well-organized, and easy to explore. Definitely a must-visit stop in Montana
Vianey R — Google review
Great museum of natural history as well as a kids area for Yellowstone. Wonderful addition having the Jane Goodall exhibit and a poignant time visiting with her recent passing but the area is so well done. Great visit for natural history!
Ross M — Google review
We visited Museum of the Rockies this time during a remodel, so we have less photos to share. We also need to crop ourselves out of the dinosaur pictures, so parts will be missing. That said - Museum of the Rockies is a MUST if you are heading to or from any nearby National Parks or other historic sites. The museum has several rooms to visit and learn about different dinosaurs, times periods, etc. There’s a room with a bench and a movie screen where kids can press play and learn. The t-rex has an upstairs viewing area. The top floor has a children’s museum with interactive displays, bathrooms, and low key learning stations. There’s a planetarium with daily shows on the main floor just inside the doors. They usually offer two different kinds of shows per day. Don’t be late. The doors are locked to provide everyone inside a fantastic show. The gift shop will require its own chunk of time so you can peruse. They have the expected t-shirts and sweatshirts, but also have a great selection of stones to choose from - as well as magnets, toys, mugs, books, etc. If you can afford to become a member of the museum, they offer after hours events and fundraisers. The last time we were there, the museum was hosting an after hours event for members. Becoming a member is well worth the investment. The museum is a great place to take young children. The Museum of the Rockies was the beginning of a lifelong love of dinosaurs and paleontology for one family member who first visited it as a toddler. The museum has an elevator to make it easy to get to the kid’s floor with little ones in tow. The parking lot is big - and the views of the mountains are breathtaking. There’s a walking path outside and a safe area you can walk your dogs.
N1 Z — Google review
There is much to explore at this museum. During our first visit, we focused on Sue, the enormous T-Rex fossil. On this visit, Jane Goodall's chimpanzee studies in Gombe were the focus. I had intended to walk the grounds of the historic farm buildings during peak autumn beauty, but was disappointed to discover that this area closes at the end of summer.

Our entire group had one of the best times here at Montana Whitewater! We had the 2 best instructors, Chance and Autumn. They made the trip even more enjoyable and we had such a good time. They were very knowledgeable and super friendly. Would definitely recommend Montana Whitewater to anyone looking to zip line. We will be back to do the bigger zip line soon! Thank you Chance and Autumn, hopefully we can request you both next time.

Alyssa and Jackson were super fun and knowledgeable guides for our Ziplining adventure! I highly recommend them as guides. We had a blast. Brandon was our guide on our whitewater rafting trip. He was amazing and navigated us thru some fun class III and IV waters. Overall Montana Whitewater Rafting & Zipline teams were GREAT! The ladies at the front desk were super helpful and kind. All the guides work together to make our two-part day an incredible adventure! Thank you Alyssa, Jackson, Brandon and Olivia!!! You all are the best! <3 Carnivals

10/10 recommend! We did a double experience and did zip lining first with Jackson and Alyssa! They were AWESOME and made sure everyone had a blast! They were also so very patient when our youngest couldn’t make it up the ladder and had to go down! Thank yall! Then we headed over for white water rafting! Our crew got partnered up with Tim! We had a blast going down the river and hitting some awesome rapids! One thing I would like to add the process of being able to purchase and get your photos automatically airdropped to your phone was GREAT!!

I went whitewater rafting with Montana Whitewater Rafting Co. in June 2025, and it was hands down one of the most thrilling experiences I’ve had in Montana. We opted for the “less challenging” route, but it still gave us plenty of excitement... waves crashing, hearts racing, and laughter all the way through. At one point, I almost fell out during a rapid, and a big splash sent the kid next to me disappearing between the seats (inside the boat, thankfully!). Our guide, Cole Mosher, was absolutely fantastic, knowledgeable, funny, and made us feel safe the entire time. He even encouraged us to try the more advanced route next time... but after seeing a massive rock on our way back, I'm still "thinking about it" 🥶🥶😅 And shoutout to their team for snapping some epic action shots. We looked like pros out there...well, almost 🌝

Booked this adventure last minute! What a great experience! We did both adventures Tall Tim, our rafting guide, gave us girls the wettest ride we've ever been on!! Highly recommended!! 2nd adventure, we Ziplined! I cannot recall the names of our guides. One was blonde, one was Brunette, both super adorable and made the whole experience memorable! Thank you to you two for being great at what you do!!

Absolutely amazing experience with Montana Whitewater and our incredible guide, Julia! We had such a blast out on the Gallatin River and through the Mad Mile. It’s truly breathtaking, and the perfect mix of adrenaline and natural beauty. Julia is a total pro. She made the ride exciting, fun, and most importantly, safe. You can tell she loves what she does, and it made the whole adventure even better. They provide everything you need, from gear to guidance, and the entire crew was friendly and professional. The cherry on top? The photos! Captured by a professional photographer, they’re incredible and such a great way to remember the day. Can’t recommend this enough, we’ll definitely be back!

I work as one of the Managers at one of Big Sky's well known hotels that refer our guests to Montana Whitewater all the time but had personally experienced it until last week when I got to with my daughter and grand children last week who were visiting me for the week. What a great experience Montana Whitewater provides us thrill seekers! Over top experience all the way around, from start to finish and our guide Owen was the icing on the cake, great guy! You don't need to miss this true Montana experience! Highly recommended!

With an impressive 300 ski runs spread across 5,850 acres, it caters to all skill levels—from thrilling couloirs and snowfields for seasoned skiers to gentle groomers perfect for families. Beautiful views. I highly recommend taking the lifts for the views. We went with young children as little as 3 years old and felt completely safe. I wish we could have explored more or did some hiking. Maybe when the kids get a bit older.

Big Sky Ski Resort is AMAZING! I have skied here before, and it has incredible terrain and beauty. Today in September I am here to do some hiking and take the lifts up. I want to give a special thanks to Calvin and the entire crew at Big Sky. EVERY single person I encountered (lift operators, ticket booth, etc.) was WONDERFUL! The employees here are world-class. Big Sky Ski Resort is lucky to have them, and they should be rewarded for every 5-star review posted. They are all incredibly kind, smart, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and hard-working. I had a mishap, and Calvin and his crew handled it so beautifully. I was able to truly enjoy my visit here because of them!

We stayed here for a day during our Yellowstone and Grand Teton trip, and while the check-in experience with the front desk and bell boy was excellent, our overall impression was ruined at checkout. After leaving, we were hit with a surprise $4.50 charge. When I contacted customer service, a person named Jeff claimed it was for a water bottle from the room. This is absolutely false — we never used or even noticed any such bottle. We carried our own water the entire trip. His explanation that “the bottle was on the table, not in the fridge” makes no sense, and frankly comes across as an excuse to justify an unjustified charge. It’s shocking and disappointing that a place with otherwise nice staff and a serene environment would spoil a guest’s experience with such petty, dishonest practices. Pros: Nice front desk and bell boy service, calm surroundings. Cons: Very limited vegetarian food options, and worst of all — hidden charges after checkout. Lesson learned: Always take photos when you check in and out, because there are bad elements that try to take advantage. This was the worst checkout experience I’ve had in years of traveling, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who values honesty and transparency. BTW poor rating because of billing customer service

It was so quiet and peaceful foxes were outside frolicking in the fresh snow. We actually were the only people who were staying at the resort at the time and it was a really magical experience. I don’t recommend you dry your clothes there though it’s five dollars a load.
Raushanna R — Google review
The mountain itself is great for advanced level to expert level skiers, but the prices here are egregiously expensive. Their lift ticket prices on poor weather days are like $300/day, and it goes beyond $400/day on good days. You can't get on the gondola to access the entire mountain less you pay another $100. You can't even get lunch at the mountain without making a reservation for lunch at the top of the ski hill. The hotel prices at the resort also start at about $700/night and there are no public transit options in town, so you have to pay the excessive rate or pay for an expensive rental car and an expensive hotel/airbnb in town.

Stayed there for the Rut Run. Wonderful hotel and service from front desk , valet, concierge and housekeeping was outstanding. Everyone was super friendly and totally gets the concept of customer service. The location couldn't be better for the run.
Green F — Google review
MTB trails were a ton of fun, even though we had some shutdowns due to lightning in the vicinity. Trails could do with a little more work to get rid of all the chatter bumps into corners, but those that did have fresh dirt were incredible. Well worth the lift ticket prices for a day on the trails!

One of the best mountains in the U.S, tell your friends it sucked. Great snow, terrain, friendly staff and average pricing. Only issue (which has gotten better) is tram Access. Now its included with a day ticket which is a huge improvement but it should be available on all season passes yes even the green.

Craters of the Moon / Arco Campground

Craters of the Moon-Arco KOA Journey is a charming campground near Arco, Idaho, offering a convenient location for exploring the nearby Craters of the Moon National Monument. The friendly staff and well-maintained facilities provide a great camping experience. Guests can enjoy amenities such as swimming, laundry services, playgrounds, and even an ice cream social for kids.
Very Clean park and very nice area. The person on duty during the day was grreat and help us find everything and how to get to town without driving. Bathrooms were great and clean. A must stop if going this way!

Stayed one night after visiting Craters of the Moon National Monument. We had everything we needed. It's an older campground and appears to have several permanent residents. Everybody was nice and the place was quiet. The inground pool was out of order but there was a nice above ground pool with enough depth to swim some short laps. Plenty of space to let my dog get in a little fetch and run. They play the National Anthem at sundown and Reveille in the morning. Quiet otherwise and reasonably priced for a night

Park has not been kept up very well Posting says wine tasting and ice-cream social. Neither happened. Posting says heated pool. Although it was a nice above ground pool it was not heated Website mentioned a parade. Nope no such thing. Guy behind the counter was not very helpful or social. It is a beautiful area. Not sure i would stay again.

Stayed in our RV at this location. This campground needs some love. Bathrooms were clean, but the whole campground was pretty run down. The "compound " next door played reveille every morning on loud speakers, along with the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem each evening at sunset. Not really annoying, just different.

This was a convenient and quiet place to stay while visiting Craters of the Moon National Monument. It's about 20 miles from the monument, but there's not much out here to choose from. Of all the KOAs I've stayed at, this was definitely sub-par. It's very out dated and looks run down. The site was fairly level and there was free firewood, but that was about it. The pool was closed in late September, as we thought it would be, so we can't rate that. After seeing the town and other camp grounds in the area, I would prefer Mountain View which had lots of trees and grass.

We had a great stay at this KOA! The campground was clean, quiet, and well-maintained. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming — they made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Easy check-in, level sites, and convenient amenities made everything smooth. Would definitely stay here again!

Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center

The Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center, located near Yellowstone National Park, offers visitors an up-close experience with grizzly bears, gray wolves, and birds of prey in a safe environment. This nonprofit organization serves as a refuge for animals that cannot be released into the wild. Through educational programs and interactive experiences, guests can learn about these majestic creatures while observing them in their natural habitats.
We recently visited the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center with our three grandkids (ages 12, 13, and 6), and it was a fantastic experience for all of us! The exhibits are incredibly well done, and we loved how educational and engaging everything was. The kids were fascinated watching the bears forage and play, and seeing the wolves up close was such a rare and memorable treat. One of the highlights for all of us was watching the otters swim and play—so full of energy and personality! We could’ve stood there for hours just enjoying their antics. We appreciated that the animals here are all rescues and that the Center focuses on conservation and education—it made the visit feel meaningful as well as fun. The whole place is thoughtfully designed, clean, and easy to navigate. We also enjoyed the birds of prey exhibit and hearing the call of the bald eagle—what a powerful moment! This is a must-stop if you’re anywhere near West Yellowstone. We all left with smiles on our faces and new things to talk about. Highly recommend for families with kids of any age!
Natalie W — Google review
We took our 3 children to visit the Grizzly and Wolf discovery center. We had already spotted 1 wolf and 6 bears wild in the park, so this was a chance to see them up close and learn more about them. It didn't disappoint. It was nice to hear the back story on the Grizzlies, and to better understand why they would be a danger to humans in the wild. They seemed well cared for, fat and happy. Excellent chance to augment your distant photo's in the park with some close up action. Some of the wolves were doing the zoo Pacing thing, (up and down a small section of their fence) which made me a bit sad, but overall we had a great time.
Steven M — Google review
This small AZA accredited facility focuses exclusively on Yellowstone's wildlife. Which means the climate and foliage in the spacious enclosures is perfect for simulating the animals' natural environment! The zookeepers also provide foraging and enrichment opportunities throughout the day so the animals are actively engaging with their habitats and using their brains. Though it is a little zoo, if you stay for longer than an hour you will see at least the bears receive fresh foraging opportunities as they rotate through the display habitat throughout the day. There are outdoor and warmed indoor viewing spots if you visit in winter. The educational content provided by the staff was great - more Yellowstone guests could benefit from hearing and seeing firsthand why it's so important to keep wildlife unhabituated to humans! The admission price gets you in for 2 days so it's a great deal. You can visit after or before you enter Yellowstone National Park two days in a row. If you are a photographer, the bear habitats are backlit in the morning, and the wolf habitats across from them are backlit in the evening.

While it’s not huge but the experience is incredibly impactful. You could really tell that the staff and organization have a sincere concern for animals. We learned a lot from the exhibits and staff. Special shout out to Tegan (sp) who was so friendly and knowledgeable. It’s nice that this place is a non-profit so you know they’re in it for the right reasons. As a bonus your day pass is actually good for two days so we went back again the second day. Very highly recommended.
Ryan C — Google review
It was great. Some of the animal viewing were closed due to cleaning or construction, but they gave you plenty of notice on their website. The animals are well cared for and seem stress free. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. You get very close to the wolves through the glass, as well as the other viewing areas. All the animals are beautiful. The gift shop is very well priced and offer a lot of choices. Your tickets are good for two days and are very reasonably priced. It is a fun experience.

It was possibly my favorite thing to do on my week’s vacation to Yellowstone. It was a rainy day, we decided not to go into the park. This place was recommended by the staff at the resort we were staying at. I was very happy and so were my companions. I could not believe how close I was to bears and wolves but felt safe. I have always loved both. It felt like a dream come true. I also love otters and they are there as well. The only animals that we couldn’t see were the ground squirrels and that was because they were hibernating! It was very educational, respectful, lovely. The staff/naturalists were very nice and knowledgeable.
Michelle B — Google review
Worth the stop if it's not too busy! Habitats looked well constructed, safe, and fun for the animals while still giving us a good view. We thoroughly enjoyed the wolves and the otters! They have very informative exhibits to learn as well.
Kelly F — Google review
Neat and interesting zoo! The animals were very close and all staff was knowledgeable. Enjoyed the part as you are leaving that mentions and shows how to be bear safe. Very important! Also, we stayed about 1 hour in total and felt like we had seen it all. However, could definitely stay longer to see the different bears come out each hour.

Grand Teton is a majestic mountain peak standing at 13,775 feet within a national park that offers an array of outdoor activities. Located just ten miles south of Yellowstone National Park and near the renowned ski resorts of Jackson Hole, it's easily accessible and worth a visit on its own. The area boasts unspoiled wilderness, hiking trails, world-class watersports, and winter activities.
Rising dramatically above Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the Grand Tetons are one of the most breathtaking mountain ranges in North America. With their jagged peaks, alpine lakes, and glacier-carved valleys, they form the heart of Grand Teton National Park, offering unparalleled opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, photography, and mountaineering. The iconic Grand Teton (13,775 ft) dominates the skyline, alongside other towering summits that create a striking contrast against the open plains.

Lava Hot Springs Foundation World Famous Hot Springs

Lava Hot Springs Foundation World Famous Hot Springs is a natural hot spring destination with various outdoor pools offering different temperature levels. Visitors can enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot springs or take a swim in the regular pools. The facility also includes a shop and provides amenities such as showers, changing rooms, and lockers for an additional fee. The well-organized pools are clearly labeled with water temperatures, catering to visitors of all ages.
Lava Hot Springs Foundation – A Sacred Balance Between Healing, Fun, and Flow Lava Hot Springs isn’t just a place — it’s an energy. And the Lava Hot Springs Foundation? They’ve done a phenomenal job of protecting, preserving, and sharing that energy with the world in a way that feels both rooted and progressive. From the moment you step into the mineral-rich pools — naturally odorless and constantly refreshed by the earth itself — you can feel the shift. It’s like the land remembers how to heal you before you even ask. The Foundation operates with no taxpayer funding — it’s entirely sustained by those who choose to soak, swim, or splash. That matters. It shows a commitment to balance: ecological, economic, and communal. You get the sense they’re not just running a business; they’re tending a fire. They’ve created something that honors the natural gifts of the land without over-commercializing them — and that’s rare these days. The facilities are incredibly well-maintained. You’ve got the classic hot pools (always clean and not too crowded if you go at the right times), but also a full-blown aquatic complex with waterslides, an Olympic pool, kiddie sections, and green park areas that invite families, elders, and solo travelers alike. It’s one of those places where everyone can find their rhythm — whether you’re there to soak in silence or cannonball into laughter. And the upgrades? Thoughtful. Strategic. They’re not just building for tourism; they’re building for legacy. Long-term projects like improved parking, enhanced accessibility, and even discussions about geothermal sustainability show that this isn’t a quick-turn operation. It’s a generational offering — for Idaho and for anyone seeking deeper connection with water, heat, and land. I respect how transparent they are too. Board meetings are open. Plans are published. It’s not hidden behind some bureaucracy. That kind of openness builds trust — and it’s exactly the kind of foundation that deserves ongoing community support. If you’ve never been, go. And if you’ve been before, go again — but this time, slow down. Let the waters speak. Let the steam remind you that healing isn’t always dramatic — sometimes it’s as simple as soaking, breathing, and remembering who you are.

Lava Hot Springs is a wonderfully relaxing and family-friendly destination that’s perfect for unwinding. The natural hot pools range in temperature from 102°F to 112°F, offering options for everyone—from gently warm to deeply soothing. The entire facility is clean and well-maintained, with friendly staff who make the experience even better. They offer convenient amenities like showers, changing rooms, and the option to rent towels or swimsuits if you didn’t bring your own. Whether you’re stopping by for a short soak or spending a few hours here, it’s a great way to relax and enjoy the healing mineral waters. Highly recommended for both locals and travelers passing through!

Worth every minute. The town is quaint and interesting. Neat bars, restaraunts and hotels-motels. Ice cream and pizza too. Music in the park every Saturday. Tubing on river through town. Good day trip or over night two day trip.Hot spring water is HOT. Different HOT pools. Nice garden walk and snack shops. Free street parking. Limited though for trailers. But free public parks and playgrounds and off street parking. Could get crowded in-season but worth it. Would be fun in winter snow too. Cool place.

It was so much fun! We had ages 7-60 with our family and it was AMAZING! We all had fun! Clean locker rooms, and heated walkways, and the cutest hillside garden and decorations! We had a great experience. Arrived during the week, opted to go to the hot pools. Arrived around 10/11 AM, light people traffic, plenty of space available. Towel rental available, showers and snacks from gift shop. Pool temps range from 102-112 F approximately. Staff was friendly and explained everything well. Make sure you keep your receipt if you rent a towel. Facilities clean and orderly. Purchased tickets upon arrival without issue, but experience may vary during different times of the year.

The tram provides breathtaking views of the Tetons, valley, and surrounding mountain ranges. At the summit, there are hiking trails with varying levels of difficulty, making it suitable for all adventurers. Additionally, visitors can enjoy dining at one of the three restaurants or indulge in famous waffles at Corbets Cabin.
Family loved the experience. Ride was much smoother than expected. Wait times was only about 20 minutes on a holiday weekend. At the top they have a little shop that serves all kinds of drinks and waffles which looked incredible. The views on top were great in all directions and you could stay as long as you want. Expect a 10-15 deg temperature difference from top to bottom as it is approximately 4300' elevation change. Great family experience that we would gladly do again.

An absolute must-do in Jackson! The tram and gondola rides offer breathtaking views of the Tetons and the valley below. The ride itself is smooth and scenic, and once you’re at the top, the views feel like you’re on top of the world. Corbet’s Cabin is worth the stop for waffles and hot chocolate. It’s a bit pricey, but the experience and scenery make it well worth it. Whether you’re riding up for a quick photo opportunity or planning to hike from the top, this is one of the best experiences in Jackson Hole.

Incredible Views! We had the Jackson Hole Tram on our schedule all along and then suddenly you are in line about to get on and your palms sweat for a second. At least mine did. We didn't have to wait long. It was such a smooth ride up and back down and it was cool to see the ski runs in the summer time. There was a little bit of narration along the way which was fine. The views from the top are spectacular! We were iffy about buying a waffle but boy we were glad we did. The waffles actually exceeded expectations. They were the lightest waffle I have ever had. It practically melted in your mouth. It is worth it. Oxygen is a bit lighter up there so you don't need to be in a hurry to climb to the tip top too fast unless you are use to it. It was 57 degrees up top in late June with snow still around. We definitely recommend that you include this in your visit to Jackson Hole!

The team ride was an easy and enjoyable ride. Checking in and getting the tickets was a simple one-line process. The staff were helpful. On top, what view! I didn’t do the skywalk but my wife did. We also enjoyed Corbett’s waffle house. The staff were polite and efficient. The Baileys went done smooth and the cobbler was excellent.

Mind-blowing views that will leave you speechless! WOW! My wife and I just experienced the most incredible ride of our lives on the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram! This thing rockets you up 4,139 vertical feet in about 12 minutes, and the views get more spectacular with every passing second. By the time you reach the top at 10,450 feet, you’re literally on top of the world! The tram itself holds about 100 people, but somehow it never felt crowded because everyone was just glued to the windows in absolute awe. As we climbed higher and higher, the entire Jackson Hole valley spread out below us like a living map. The Teton Range, Snake River, and endless wilderness stretched as far as we could see. At the summit, Rendezvous Mountain offers 360-degree views that are simply beyond words. We could see into Idaho, down into Jackson Hole, and across some of the most pristine wilderness in North America. The viewing decks and short hiking trails at the top let you soak it all in from different angles. The ride down was just as thrilling, and we caught views we missed on the way up. The whole experience felt like a journey through the clouds. Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but for this kind of once-in-a-lifetime perspective, it’s worth every penny. Pro tip: Bring a jacket! It’s significantly cooler at 10,000+ feet, even in summer. This is hands down a must-do Jackson Hole experience! 🚡🏔️✨

This little park is right in the center of the city, so you definitely won’t miss it. It only takes about three minutes to walk around, but it’s worth a stop. What makes it special are the original entrances made from animal horns — very unique and memorable!

Jacksonville was just okay. The drive there was absolutely beautiful, with stunning scenery all the way. Better than the destination. The town itself feels like a cute town to spend a couple of hours. We had breakfast at Persephone, because Tiktok lead us there. That was quite a disappointment though. But we loved wandering through the streets, checking out the art galleries. Enjoyed 2 ice creams for 18,30. So bring your wallet. But grabbing a beer at the cowboy bar — sitting on a saddle bar stool was a great experience. Still a fun and unique stop.

The barns are visited by many people to capture the Grand Tetons in the background. Lots of wildlife everywhere you go. The mountain just on the outskirts of town square offers a mountain slide that is so fun and affordable. Make it back to town for the weekly shootout. Think this happens on Saturdays. Take a ride in the 2 horse drawn stagecoach which circles town square. You may also catch a musical group in the park. Great saloons and eateries all over town. For the more adventurous, take a white water raft trip! Enjoy!

Too crowded and too pricey. The antlers were nice the rest is a tourist trap..never again one visit for me. The people were busy and one protester was outside yelling lies about the President of the USA in the middle of a place people from all over the world to allow the dumb man yelling at at the tourists about his "beliefs". He ruined my day as he called me a names as I passed him on the main corner of the town.

This is a lovely town that is walkable. Lots of stores to buy souvenirs and gifts. This is also the location of the famous antler arches. Everyone in the stores are very friendly. The prices are high but the people working in the stores are not snobby at all and make you feel welcomed even if you are just looking and not buying, although it’s hard to not walk out without a few bags!

I visited this place several times and my most recent was two weeks ago with a group of 12 people, plenty of food choices, great atmosphere, tons of photogenic locations

State Parks
Antelope Island, the largest island in the Great Salt Lake, is a nature lover's paradise. The state park offers hiking trails and opportunities to observe wildlife such as bison, mule deer, antelope, and bighorn sheep. Visitors can also witness the thrilling roundup of the 600-strong American bison herd in late October for veterinary examination. The island is a haven for migratory birds feasting on brine shrimp along the lake's shore during fall and spring migrations.
Antelope Island is one of my favorite places to go in Utah. It is peaceful, quiet, and fun to explore. The beach areas are full of interesting rock formations. The natural beauty of Antelope Island is stunning, especially at sunset.

Antelope Island is a beautiful and peaceful place. The Bison are such amazing creatures that shouldn't be taken lightly while on the island. Expect to spend a few hours there while walking around, exploring some of the sights.
Troy B — Google review
I recently went camping and hiking at Antelope Island, and it was such a peaceful experience! 🌅 If you love nature and hiking videos, check out my YouTube channel @IamOnePOV — I uploaded my full Lakeside Loop Trail adventure there. The views are breathtaking, the lake looks unreal during sunset, and nighttime is perfect for stargazing. There aren’t many big trees, so I’d suggest booking a site with some shade if you visit in summer. Highly recommend spending a weekend here — it’s one of Utah’s hidden gems! 🌄

Very unique park! After driving the causeway, we were immediately greeted by several bison and a herd of antelope! We visited mid September, on a Friday and it was not busy. The temporary visitor center is in a small building at the marina while their main visitor center is undergoing renovations. We camped in Bridger Bay campground (no water currently due to VC renovations), and our camping fee ($20 + $8 fee) covered our causeway toll.

Can see the Buffalo was amazing they are a really big animal , you probably think that they are quiet and patient but they can be really angry with human so be careful, amazing place for take pictures and go with the family (:

I enjoyed my day on Antelope Island. I was there as the tide came in on the east side, when exiting, so I could better see the marsh areas. The fee is high, $15. Due to construction there is no water and they let you know that before you enter and it is on the state park website. There are vault houses (pit toilets) all over the island. I spent a few hours at Fielding Garr Ranch, drove around and hiked to different parts of the island. The locals aren't kidding, those brine flies are pesky! By late afternoon, they were out and annoying. They are vital to the ecosystem, just be prepared. I had no idea how large Salt Lake is! It is so flat you can see the evaporation cycle occurring. I've great photographs of it on the north side, with afternoon sun hitting it, even slight rainbow colors. I learned a lot about the fresh water on the island, too. I saw hundreds of BISON and a deer grazing in the field.

I got to bring a photography group here from one of our Junior highs and they had the best experience ever it was really beautiful to visit and enjoy the history.
Tall T — Google review
Huge difference between the summer and the cooler months. Plan out the trip as the. colder months probably till June, certain roads are closed. But it also means no flies and other pesky insects. The cooler temps means it'll be easier to do certain trails as you won't sweat as much from the radiant heat. There are 2 that were taken in the cooler months (March) and the rest in June.

Lagoon Amusement Park is a seasonal theme park and water park located in Davis County, Utah. It offers a wide range of thrill rides, live shows, and even features a pioneer village and camping facilities. The park is situated just north of downtown Salt Lake City amidst diverse ecosystems such as marshlands, mountains, beaches, and saltwater lakes. Visitors can explore the various trails in the area making it an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
Always enjoyable. They are often adding new rides and Changing things for the better We go at least once a year. They have a nice variety. From really extreme rides for adults and teens to easy yet very fun rides for even tiny toddlers and everything in between. They've got something for every age and size!
Sterling A — Google review
This year they've remodeled and added some nice features. They've upgraded benches (such as by Terror Ride) and repaved some areas of the park which is nice. Generally speaking, accessibility is an afterthought. Some paths can be narrow and crowded. Handicap parking is fairly limited considering the size of the parking lot. Ride seats are not inclusive of various-sized bodies. Primordial just opened last year and the queue is already breaking down - the projector show wasn't functioning when we went through. Food is typical to what you'd find at a carnival. They have lots of slushy, ice cream, and dessert options, so plan your budget for some treats at least. I saw some signs that they finally sell coffee in the park but I didn't have an opportunity to taste it. We went in July when they were selling tickets online for $70 including fees. The tickets this year are twice the price when they're not on sale, which is way too expensive. If they want to charge Disney prices they need to rise to the same level of inclusiveness. We had fun on our visit but if we had paid the normal price it would not have been worth the price.
Hilary W — Google review
Great assortment of rare, one of a kind, and married rides, family/kid rides and coasters. Staff works well to get you secured and going on the ride with deployment times and turnover which is fantastic. Wait times are pretty good all things considered. My only gripe is the price of tickets are a bit much compared to comparable parks.

I took my girls to Frightmares a few weeks ago. Friday was a great day to enjoy the park as the lines weren't too long. The food is amazing and so filling. I definitely recommend the burgers. The staff are friendly and helpful. The park is well maintained and seemed pretty clean. We were able to see a Joey in it's mom's pouch. And peacocks roaming free through the park. Iwould definitely take my family here again. Next time I'll be taking the kids when it's bounce back so that we can do the rides one day and the water park the next.

Lagoon Amusement Park is a great little mom and pop business located just north of Salt Lake City. This place reminded me of Knoebels Amusement Park in central Pennsylvania as both places have a similar type of vibe. The roller-coasters here are very solid, with Cannibal and Wicked being the highlights. We also liked riding Roller Coaster as well since that ride is over 100 years old now!
A R — Google review
We love Lagoon so much. Its so fun to take the whole family. The only downside is the cost. It is very expensive. We have had a great experience with the new RAP pass. (Disability ride access) We appreciate having wait times that correspond with the stand-by wakt time. In previous years, you could just go to the exit and basically skip the line. That wasn't fair to others. This way, pass users get a return time. It is very helpful if someone in your party needs to sit down more often, or if they take a bit of extra time to load. The employees handle the pass with kindness amd respect. We have had to deal with the Safety and Security staff this year. They are excellent to work with. They made our minor emergency much smoother. I will say too that I hope they are able to safely rehome all the animals in the "zoo" space. I would really hate to see animals there next year.
Erin K — Google review
It was super fun. I had never been on a roller coaster before so I was pretty scared but it ended up being super fun. The Halloween decorations were fun too and although there was a wait for some rides it wasn't too bad for most. If you want to get thrown into the deep end of rollercoasters it's best to go straight to Cannibal (that's what my friends made me do) and by the end of the day I was loving it and we rode it 3 times in a row. Also this has nothing to do with the park but if you go and there are lots of kids around just start saying "6 7" and the kids will all say it back which is pretty funny.
Xavier R — Google review
We love Lagoon and have been coming since I was a kid. My only complaint this year is that line cutting is SO common when the park is busy, because the lines trail out into main areas and people use this to cheat the system. No one enforces line cutting so people get away with it and that sucks. Hoping the park finds a way to address this. But otherwise, we are happy patrons! Incredible rides, lots of rides and things to do for every comfort level, decent food, clean bathrooms, great nighttime vibes with the lighting. Lots of history here and it shows. They make an effort to include a lot of plants, flowers, large trees, murals, colors, etc.

Dinosaur National Monument, straddling the Utah-Colorado state line, is a vast park known for its dinosaur fossils and outdoor activities. The park features one of North America's largest dinosaur fossil beds, with over 1600 bones protruding from an enclosed rock wall at the Quarry Exhibit. Visitors can enjoy rafting, hiking trails, campsites, and sweeping vistas that span two states and offer a mix of historical and geographic sites.
Unbelievable! The Dinosaur Wall at the Quarry was one of the most awe-inspiring monuments I’ve ever seen. The trail to the quarry was mediocre at best. It’s great if you don’t want to wait for the shuttle but don’t expect to see too much. Both the Colorado side and Utah side are worth visiting!
Karson W — Google review
What an unexpected surprise! We went to both visitor centers and met very nice and helpful rangers. On the second day we decided to drive the Echo park rd and Yampa Bench rd. (The drive is over 40 miles) We have a jeep wrangler which is well suited for this drive. The overlooks are outstanding! I mean WOW! Don't overlook this National Monument!

Pretty amazing place to visit and view all the fossils in the hillside. You are able to touch and learn. To see the detail of the bones are pretty amazing. We visited on a Sunday in early April and had the place to ourselves. Well worth the visit.

Well is a Nice Park but the Quarry Hall is Close in High Season. The Walk is very long to see only mountains and 2 or 3 fossils pieces in the Morrison Formation. The Visitor Center is Very nice.

Great exhibit about dinosaurs, excavation, and preservation of the bones. The hike back from the Dinosaur Quarry to the Visitor Center was well worth it. We saw the rock formations up close. The sun beats down on you so bring a hat, sunglasses, and water. Beautiful park with camping and boat access.

Very fun place. The Colorado side and Utah side are both destinations of their own. At only 30 or so miles apart visit both if you can.
Michael S — Google review
What an amazing park! We loved bringing our family here for a long weekend. The kids did the Junior Ranger program and loved looking out for stuff and doing the assignments in the booklet. We took the free tram from the Visitor Center to the Quarry Wall, which was the coolest thing to see. The rangers everywhere so helpful and attentive. We also went to Split Mountain and the pull off of the petroglyphs/pictographs. Both were so neat to see. We found a place to have lunch in one of the converted picnic areas.
Winter R — Google review
I had no idea how massive this area is spanning Utah and Colorado! We started at the quarry on the Utah side where there’s a massive wall of fossils still embedded in the rock! After we drove around to some petroglyph sites and then over to the Colorado side where we enjoyed the scenery and did a fun hike!

Capitol Reef National Park Visitor Center is the gateway to the park's stunning geological formations, particularly the Waterpocket Fold. This 150 km long fold showcases distinct layers of sediment that were tilted and bent during the uplift of the Colorado Plateau. The visitor center offers an orientation movie, informative exhibits, a bookstore, and opportunities to learn about the area's pioneer history. Visitors can also obtain trail maps from rangers for exploring lesser-known trails on the park's outskirts.
I liked this park a lot. I feel like it’s a bit underrated compared to others in the area. We went on a weekend in late April and there weren’t too many crowds. There is no service so download your offline maps to stay prepared :) bring lots of water as the hikes do not have much shade

For those interested in hiking, the Delicate Arch trail is highly recommended and features captivating rock art.
What a beautiful place to visit. Make it a bucket list. The place I'm about to describe is truly a gem. It's a stunning destination that promises an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a nature lover or an adventure seeker, this place has something for everyone. Its breathtaking scenery and serene atmosphere are sure to leave you spellbound. I highly recommend adding this place to your bucket list.

One of my favorite national parks! We live in Georgia and have been here 3x in the last 5 years. While it’s a popular park, we like it because everything is spread out so there’s plenty of room for everyone! You might have to circle around devils garden loop a few times to find parking, but then you will and you’ll be glad you did. Our favorite is watching sunset from the north window arch! We’ve done this every time we’ve come and it’s never disappointed. We also have three young kiddos, and love that it’s so kid friendly! From lots of sand spots at the end of some arches (pine tree arch and sand dunes arch) to lots of rock climbing that’s relatively safe and again, spacious paths for people to walk. We’ve been to other national parks and it’s not always the case so we appreciate that about this park! It’s a forever favorite and you really can’t go wrong with any of the hikes or views. Definitely bring water and food in, as the only water fill up spots (that I know of) are the visitors center and then devils garden loop. No where to buy food in the park that I know of! Overall, it’s a special and favorite place and highly recommend coming to visit! 🧡🏜️
Rosalynne L — Google review
Probably one of the most beautiful and historic places I've been. Seeing the arches themselves really makes you feel small in a way. Millions and millions of years have gone by and this is what they've left of the rock. Incredible and humbling. You really get a sense of how short our life spans all are. Will they still be here in a hundred years? A thousand? Who knows. Highly recommend going as deep as you can into the park, but you should also really do a multi day trip for this. Too much to take in at once. Visit the sand arches! The silence is golden.
Daniel A — Google review
I've lived in Utah for a lot of my life, but this is the first time I've really explored Arches. 10/10. It was 50 degrees on the days I was there which honestly was great. I cannot imagine hiking on the hot rocks in the summer. It was warm enough that but the time I was actually hiking, I pulled off my jacket. Anyway. It was gorgeous. I loved it.
Simon P — Google review
Arches National Park was absolutely stunning. The red rock formations and arches were even more beautiful in person, and every stop had an incredible view. The park was easy to explore, and sunrise/sunset were unforgettable. Pictures do no justice!
Avin — Google review
A must see location. So many beautiful areas to explore The drive takes at least a hour without traffic. Plan on spending 4 or more hours if you're wanting to see the top attractions. 😉
Sally R — Google review
A neat park with unique natural architecture. The park is organized into a scenic drive with frequent pullouts for viewpoints and short trails into the land itself. If you like long trails and isolation, that’s tough to come by in this park. The back end of Devil’s Garden was the closest that I could find. It’s definitely worth a visit, but I recommend devoting more time to Canyonlands if you’re interested in more serious hiking and exploring. You can hit the highlights of Arches in a half day and cover almost all of it in a full day.

Delicate Arch

Sights & Landmarks
Delicate Arch is the main attraction of Arches National Park, and it can be viewed from an overlook or reached via a trail. The hike to the arch is labeled as strenuous but is not overly difficult, although it is quite long. It's recommended to arrive early due to limited shade and crowded trails later in the day. For a memorable experience, consider hiking to Delicate Arch for a sunset view.
Beautiful hike to an iconic landmark! The hike from the parking lot to Delicate Arch is absolutely beautiful! Along the way, we saw so many stunning views that you can’t find anywhere else in the world - truly breathtaking. If you start the hike early in the morning, you can catch the sunrise, and the cooler temperatures make it much less exhausting. I saw families hiking together, which shows it’s doable for many fitness levels. On the trail, we met people from all over the world and from different states. It’s a really nice walk with an incredible reward at the end. This is something that gives tremendous value to the USA - it’s a unique natural treasure that belongs to this country, and there’s no other place in the world with this landmark. After visiting Delicate Arch, don’t forget to visit Double Arch as well! However, be prepared - you’ll need good hiking shoes for that trail. Little ones might find it challenging, so it’s best to go alone or with older family members who can handle the terrain. I strongly recommend visiting Delicate Arch at least once in your life - it’s an unforgettable experience!
Ransi K — Google review
This is a great spot for a hike with amazing views. About 3.5 miles round trip and just over 700 feet of climbing. The hike is fairly easy if you take your time. Plan for 2-3 hours. The trail is easy to follow. Parking is abundant but can get crowded. Bring plenty of water.
Brett T — Google review
FEAR OF HEIGHTS? TRY AT OWN RISK. Exceptional, roughly 2hr hike, can be challenging. Very worth a try, soooo beautiful, everyone was vibing at the arch. Saw mule deer on trip down.
James D — Google review
This hike kicked my ass but it was beyond worth it!!! Amazing view of the arch once at the top, it's a good 2-3 hr round trip depending on your speed and how much time you spend with stops and enjoying the view. Went for the sunrise during October it was mid 40's at 5:30am so dressing in layers was needed!
Lindsey H — Google review
From the parking lot, it takes about 35 minutes at a fast pace, and around 45 minutes if the kids are walking—assuming they have good stamina. There’s some sand on the trail, so it can be a bit slippery. Make sure to look back for a moment while going up—the view is absolutely beautiful. The trail is relatively easy overall, but kids should be careful of slipping.
Jin R — Google review
This is the most recognizable landmark in all of Arches National Park. It is also the symbol that appears on the Utah license plates and even U.S. stamps. It is also one of the most visited and hiked sites in the entire park. This freestanding natural arch stands 52 feet in height with an opening of 46 feet high and 32 feet wide. This geological wonder was formed over millions of years by wind and water erosion acting on the Entrada Sandstone base layers and the Moab Member of the Curtis Formation, which forms the bridge. The arch’s name term “Delicate” comes a January 1934 article, which described it as “the most delicately chiseled arch in the entire area.” Finally, be cautious moving around the arch especially near the bowl area below the arch and yes, people have fallen with the last fatal event occurring in November 2019.
Thomas B — Google review
If you want a beautiful place to get away from all of the craziness and rigorousness of scheduling and overloading yourself go to arches. Enjoy the colors and the architecture of the natural landscaping all around you it is absolutely stunning. The views are absolutely breathtaking. It's worth every minute of your time!!! Pack in some food to snack on, lots of water, great hiking shoes, and warm clothing. Pack an extra set of socks maybe even an extra shirt to change cuz you'll sweat!
Tall T — Google review
This was our second visit to Arches National Park. Last time we didn’t see everything, and this time was almost the same. In June it was extremely hot — I didn’t make it to Delicate Arch, with too little water and too little brain for 3.5 miles over rocks in full sun. This time we were prepared: hiking shoes, lots of water, hats, sunscreen. But the wind was strong, almost blowing hats away! October 2025, two adults and two kids (ages 4 and 9) went straight to Delicate Arch. The parking lot was full, so we had to wait, but it was worth it. The trail is narrow and high in places — definitely scary! Almost at the arch, about 4 meters above the ground, with a bunch of hats below (fortunately, no heads — just joking). Five minutes before, rescuers evacuated an injured person on a stretcher on one large wheel — huge thanks to them! The arch is impressive, though not as breathtaking as Landscape Arch (more on that later). We didn’t all reach the arch itself — the line was long and the kids were busy trying to “fly off” with the hats. All in all, Delicate Arch is checked off our list!

Dead Horse Point State Park is a cliffside park that offers camping, hiking, and biking trails with stunning overlooks of the Colorado River. It's conveniently located just 20 minutes east of the Island in the Sky entrance to Arches National Park. The park provides beautiful views of the Gooseneck bend of the Colorado River and the La Sal Mountains.
We loved seeing this state park. It was beautiful. Located between Canyonlands and Arches, it gets lost in the mix but is well worth seeing. There were several interesting hikes but they mostly only offer different perspectives on the main site. We stayed in the Dead Horse Campground. Arrived at dark - bad idea!!! The morning revealed a beautiful large site with a weather-protected picnic table. The campground has a community dump station but only electricity at the sites. No water.

This place is awesome! $20 a car to get in. The Visitor center is cool. It has amazing views, a walking path and the gift shop has all kinds of goodies that aren't terribly expensive. Bathrooms are outside around the side of the building. After that follow 313 to the end. Here there are several places to stop and take photos. There is a building in the center with bathrooms in it. There are also several picnic shelters. You can also get married here. There are 5 different spots. We thought Cliff Side was the best but it was also the most difficult to get to and there is no wall just cliff so be careful especially with kids. There is also 25 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. I haven't tried them yet but when I do I will update this review. Have fun!

This is a great park!! I think the views at the overlook at the end of the road are better than Capital Reef with the bend in the Colorado River and salt ponds, also with shaded areas for eating and restrooms. There are a handful of hiking and biking trails. Great visitor center with a short nature trail and overlook. Well worth the $20 entrance fee.

We visited the Dead Horse National Park. It was just beautiful! We drove up to the top point and enjoyed a picnic lunch under an overhang with cliff seating and benches in the shade. The restroom was clean and beautifully tiled walls. We saw the place where the Thelma & Louise car was driven off the cliff for the movie too!

This state park offers great views of Colorado River canyon. The views are quite open, you can see far way and a bend of the river (similar to Horseshoe Bend). You can watch both sunrise and sunset of the canyon. As there is no camping site in nearby Cayonland National Park, this state park can be used for camping after visiting the Canyonland National Park, they both offer great views of the canyon and Colorado River. The camping sites here are well maintained, very clean. Some sites are not car assessable, you need park the car in nearby parking spot and carry all you camping stuff to the site. It was very windy in April and we felt that the tent could be blew away any time during the night. Strongly recommended.

Visitor Review – Dead Horse Point Dead Horse Point is a must‑see near Moab—jaw‑dropping views that feel like stepping into another world. The highway twisting like a wild serpent until suddenly the canyon opened up. My jaw dropped as red cliffs glowed like embers above the Colorado River. At the rim, I felt like an explorer—arms wide, wind in my hair. Surreal, unforgettable. 👉 Highly recommended: Dead Horse Point writes its own adventure. Don’t miss it.

This location holds a special place in my heart since I have rafted the bend many years ago. I would put this as a quick stop over if you are in the Moab area but not somewhere I would go out of my way to go to. To me it is worth the entrance price since roughly same view you could get from Horse Shoe bend and more accessible (Horse Shoe bend is prettier with the colors but in summer the hike is miserable). Very pretty in morning but to get some deep shadows for photography.

With detailed route descriptions, driving directions, and colorful maps and photos throughout the guidebook, visitors can easily explore the 337,570 acres of high-desert landscapes in this natural wonderland.
It's truly a magical place. Walking through the deep valleys is a wondrous experience, like a balcony suspended in the sky. Short climbs offer breathtaking views. At each stage, you'll find the history of your destination at the entrance. Sometimes it feels like you're not even on Earth. You can find a restroom at almost every point you visit.

I visited Canyonlands National Park and was completely blown away by the massive red rock canyons and endless panoramic views. The overlooks were stunning, especially at sunrise, and the hiking trails gave a real sense of adventure and peace. What I didn’t love was how few shaded areas there were — the heat can get pretty intense, and some trails felt a bit poorly marked. Still, it’s an incredible and unforgettable place that’s absolutely worth the trip if you love wild landscapes and open skies.

Absolutely gorgeous! The views are breathtaking and the natural landscape looks like a dream. Don’t skip out on this park if you are nearby. It was 100% worth the visit. If you can enjoy the night sky and stargaze. We were able to see the Milky Way. It was beautiful!

Suprisingly pretty empty when i went! Amazing hiking with overlooks and cliffs and windy canyons. Spent a weekend here, saw most of what you can see(rushing through things) and it was so incredible.
Layne H — Google review
This is a beautiful park. The canyons are spectacular, and vast, though not as colorful as the Grand Canyon. You can see a lot from your car, but for the full experience hit some of the hiking trails.

So beautiful! So glad we came. No charge to go in park due to government shut down. Visitor center was still open. Porta potty bathrooms available at Visitor center. We went on a clear Saturday around 10 am. Park was a little busy, but not overwhelming. We were the only ones on path to Whale Rock. Definitely check out mesa arch. Pretty easy hike and worth the walk.
Breanna B — Google review
This is a large park. I recommend a full day to see it. There is a lot of hiking/walking to the main points. There is also two entrances to the park. The first one is up on the north end by Moab and Dead Horse State Park. This is where the Island in the Sky visitor center is located. Almost every stop after you park there is a short walk to the view. The Mesa Arch is a short hike. On a decent trail. I would plan on taking water and planning on a hour. Even if you are not in great physical shape you can do this. It is well worth it. On the south east side of the park is the other entrance to the needles. You will loose internet access to maps on your way there. I would recommend taking a few photos of maps before going, unless you already have the park map the road is on that to the park.
Rhonda M — Google review
Astounding views at every turn in the road! Lots of trails of varying difficulties. Some trailheads were absolutely crammed with cars, nothing new there. Overall a wonderful place to visit.

Colorado National Monument, located near Grand Junction in Fruita, Colorado, is a captivating natural wonder with towering stratified rock formations in vibrant reds, bronzes, and oranges. Spanning 20,000 acres of land managed by the National Park Service and offering 43 miles of hiking trails, it's a must-visit for nature enthusiasts. Rim Rock Drive provides convenient pull-offs for scenic overlooks while the Canyon Rim hike offers epic views with just a 1-mile round trip.
Rode here from Salt Lake City with a friend of mine and it was by far our best ride yet. Couldn’t recommend this place enough. The views were easily observable from the multiple viewpoints that you are able to pull onto during your ride / drive. We went at about 8:30AM on Sunday and only passed 3 cars the entire way and nobody was at the toll station to charge $20 for entrance (motorcycle).

Great place to spend an entire day! Here's some pointers to get the most out of your visit: Bring bug spray. There are bugs. Use sunscreen. There's minimal tree cover. Bring water. There are no water sources throughout the park. Plan which trails you wish to hike beforehand and have a navigation app on your phone to ensure you don't get lost. Many of the trails are interconnected. Safety first! Maintain a safe distance from the edge at all lookout points to prevent accidents.

Colorado National Monument is, without question, my absolute favorite place in the entire United States. Every time I visit, I’m completely blown away by the breathtaking scenery — towering red rock formations, dramatic cliffs, and winding canyons that stretch as far as the eye can see. The views are simply unforgettable, whether you’re driving along Rim Rock Drive or stopping at one of the many overlooks to take it all in. What makes this place so special for me is the sense of peace and connection you feel the moment you arrive. It’s not just about the stunning landscapes — it’s about the atmosphere, the silence, and the feeling of being surrounded by something so majestic and timeless. Hiking the trails here is an incredible experience, with each path offering new perspectives of the canyons and unique rock formations. I’ve traveled to many national parks and landmarks, but nothing compares to Colorado National Monument. It holds a special place in my heart, and I truly believe it’s one of the most underrated natural wonders in the country. If you want to see the real beauty of the American West, this is the place to be.”

Really amazing place to visit if near grand junction / Fruita. We did the drive and stopped at various view points. Really beautiful to see. We were lucky and saw a group of big horn sheep as well, be careful driving so you don’t accidentally hit them, they were on the road around a corner and could easily be hit. America the beautiful pass is accepted here also.

As part of a cross country road trip we spent a night in grand junction after being at several national parks in Utah. The next morning we did the scenic drive through Colorado national monument. The scenery was amazing. I would honestly say CNM was just as beautiful as Utah’s Parks’s, but with a lot less crowds. We stopped at a number of scenic pull offs to take in the views, but didn’t get a chance to see everything we wish we could have seen due to a time entry at a hot spring in glenwood springs. After being in 9 national parks on the trip we finally saw a big horn sheep at a very close distance too. If you are anywhere close to CNM, highly recommend seeing this park.

Amazing park!!! We were headin’ to another park when we spotted this one on the map. What a big ol’ surprise! We pulled in with the RV, spent the night, and woke up early. Took a nice three-hour stroll on that gorgeous monument trail. Powerful experience, y’all. Don’t miss it!
Hila G — Google review
Amazing views and a very nice drive. Plenty of viewing areas. Went today, on a Monday morning just after sunrise and there was hardly anyone around (the way I like it). Would definitely drive this again and make time for some of the hikes!

Its an evening day in the summer, fall or winter and you are wanting to have a nice quite hour long drive to yourself or with friends, this will be a location you can return to over and over, enjoying yourself everytime!! The views are stunning, the visitors center is open 8am-5pm with restrooms, and outside water is accessible at any time fountain and faucet style access. Each one of the plants is labeled for fun facts as well. There are so many look-out stopping points throughout your drive, short hikes to get your spirits up and body moving!! This will be a must-see for anyone travel around the area. Pack a lunch or just go to sit on the rocks and breathe in life. Please pack your trash out if you bring it in, and this amazing place will stay amazing for everyone!!

Natural Bridges National Monument

Nature & Parks
Natural Bridges National Monument is a stunning canyon country park with three sandstone bridges, offering camping, scenic overlooks, and hiking trails. The Kachina Bridge Trail is approximately 1.3 miles round trip but may be challenging in snowy conditions. Meanwhile, the Owachomo Bridge Trail is an easier 0.7-mile round trip that takes around 30 minutes to complete. Visitors recommend exploring the canyon between the bridges for its beauty but advise bringing water and snacks for the hike.
We stopped here after a trip to Monument Valley. Easy drive through experience. You can hike down to the arches if you want (we didn't). It's not crowded but the views are amazing.
Kathy K — Google review
The visitor center was not crowded. The one gentleman there was helpful & attentive. We took the drive in the park to see the three (3) natural bridges. It took about 25 minutes to drive the loop. They all have sidewalk trails to an area where you can see the natural bridge. I learned that you can hike in the canyons to each natural bridges. You can also camp there and book reservations on-line to camp. We plan to come back in near future to camp & do some short hikes. This was my first time visiting and sincerely enjoyed it. It is quiet and peaceful.
Lillie R — Google review
I never heard of this place until very recently. It's off the beaten trail but well worth the visit. There are overlooks for the three bridges, but if one wants to hike, there are trails going all the way to the bottom of the canyon.
Dan B — Google review
I am so thankful that I added Natural Bridges National Monument to our itinerary! What a beautiful drive. We were not able to hike to any of the bridges (health issues), but we could see all of the three main bridges from the parking area and overlooks. The Visitor's Center was closed due to the government shutdown, but the area is well marked and easily navigated, even without a map available. The loop is an easy, laid back drive with parking areas for each bridge. I don't know if it is the time of year or that we visited on a weekday (Friday, mid-October) but there were very few people there. A nice respite from the usual crowds at the National Parks. Highly recommend making time for this gem, and hiking the trails to the bridges if you're able.
Lynne S — Google review
This is an absolute hidden gem. I hiked every trail and was about deceased by the final hike at the last bridge. Absolutely gorgeous all around. Pictures do it no justice, but I have attached some. Definitely check it out. We did Arches and Canyonlands before this and I have to say this was slightly better ino my opinion. Less crowded too.
Lea M — Google review
We came here during the shutdown, so cannot comment on the facilities - other than the bathroom, which was pretty darn awesome and the wifi that helped by geocaching compulsion - awesome. The trails here are well maintained and lead to one wow after another. The road around the monument, likewise, leads from one view to another - each just as spectacular as the one prior. Stunning views!
Anthony P — Google review
If you’ve visited Monument Valley and Valley of the Gods and still have extra time, make the drive to Natural Bridges National Monument (and don’t let the Moki Dugway scare you off). The arched bridges are beautiful, and the most bang for the buck comes from making the short trek down to Owachomo, the last bridge along the one-way visitor loop. The entire landscape is magnificent, and there are multiple areas to enjoy scenic-vista walks, picnics, and minor hikes.
Path F — Google review
This is a beautiful park, and the hike to the bridges is well worth it. Great roads and well marked trails. The visitor center was closed, but the bathrooms were accessible and very nice.

Grand Mesa is a breathtakingly beautiful mountain with a flat top that offers scenic views of lakes and forests. It is an ideal location for camping, fishing, and hiking activities. This natural feature provides stunning views of the valley with multiple stop areas to capture its beauty in photographs. The fall season brings about a change in colors of the aspen leaves, which enhances Grand Mesa's beauty even further. Visitors are sure to be awed by this spectacular mountain range that Hank loves so much!
Great place to enjoy the heart of the Western Slope. Many small lakes are on top of the mesa, with creeks running all over the place. There's large aspen groves to explore, and much of the hiking here is easy. It is a mesa, after all, not a mountaintop.
Steve S — Google review
I love this Mesa. There is so much fun to find up there. There a hundreds of lake's and streams. It is cool. There are fish everywhere. The bad is the bugs get horrible. Something none at all, other times you need a shotgun for repellent because they are persistent. Either way you have to get out there and enjoy it.
Carri B — Google review
Most beautiful flattop mountain iv ever seen. Well worth a 10 hour drive to camp for a few nights. Plenty of trails and campgrounds, but be aware of cooking meat that isn't covered and storing it as its bear territory here
Kara K — Google review
Grand Mesa is very beautiful. I can't wait to go again next year. The colors are just so beautiful. I lived in California for 48 years so to see a real fall finally is just wonderful.
Vickie W — Google review
You could spend weeks here and not see it all! Gorgeous views of Grand Junction, Delta, and La Sal Mountains! Roads were in nice shape, there’s a million different lakes and the fall colors were really popping off when we were up there. There’s so much to do here, it can be overwhelming but definitely worth checking out

🔊🔊🔊 Hello Review Readers 🔊🔊🔊 Hello Y'all ..if you're looking for a fun summer drive then load up your vehicle & picnic lunches and drive the Grand Mesa loop. You can do it from either direction in a circle from Grand Junction. Going the ski area way or the Delta way is equally beautiful! Depending on how many times you stop to take pictures it's probably about a 2 1/2 -3 hour loop. At the top of the Grand Mesa there is a visitor center and many amazing lakes and breathtaking scenery. If you live anywhere in the area or just passing through on vacation do yourself a favor and drive the Grand Mesa loop. It's a very relaxing and peaceful drive. It's definitely a bucket list drive because the scenery from the top is next level. Have fun Y'all!

I thought you could rent equipment here for kayaking but it doesn’t work that way. You have to bring whatever you want. I did some hiking but had a hard time following the signs and didn’t end up where I was trying to go. There is no cell service. I drove all the way through both ways. On my way back in the evening I saw a bear crossing the road! I definitely recommend doing the drive and hiking if you like to hike but it’s difficult to understand the services and there’s no one to help as the visitors center is no longer staffed.
Steph W — Google review
We visited Grand Mesa in August of 2023 and I am so glad we did! The weather was perfect. We stoped and walked along many of the larger lakes (there are over 300 lakes) . We entered from the South 50 to 65 . Visitor center is far in, nearly at top of Mesa first 6 of 12 mile drive was gravel rough road and the drive itself is pretty shaky. The visitor center was nice, the lakes around the visitor center were pretty. Overall nice experience but be prepared for mosquitos in the summer bring a repellent for the mosquitoes.

Perched atop Iron Mountain in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park offers a unique blend of thrilling amusement park attractions and stunning mountain vistas. Visitors can enjoy a variety of experiences, from guided cave tours to adrenaline-pumping rides like the Alpine Coaster and Giant Canyon Swing. Families can delight in kid-friendly attractions such as the Wild West Express roller coaster and Mine Wheel Ferris wheel.
Absolutely worth coming to check this place out. The rides were simple and fun. The cave tour was fun. The food was good enough. Don't expect nice restaurant quality food. But we enjoyed it. Draft beer was yummy. The views were absolutely beautiful and the gondola that takes you up there, was super super fun. The employees all were nice. We didn't find a rude person up there at all. The vibe was great. We stayed up there from open to close. Took our time experiencing everything and riding the rides several times. The gift shop has surprisingly fair prices. This place i would say is a must visit if you are in Glenwood Springs or near. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will definitely come back when we can. Thank you.
James — Google review
Lovely, smaller amusement park with plenty to do. Our group went during the week (Thursday) and had a blast. Line wait times were short and all the rides were exciting. The food was also pretty decent (burgers and chicken tenders - as to be expected with these locations). I highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance and paying a little extra ($10 when we went) for preferred parking. It's absolutely worth it as you can park right next to (if not very close) the gondolas that take you to the park.
Keev — Google review
Took my dad and my son here. My dad loves these rides. They’re unique because they’re hanging over the mountain, which adds a little extra thrill. It’s a great place not a lot of lines. We usually go in September October. Beautiful view from the mountain tops and the food is not that bad. The Cape tours are pretty cool too. The people that give the tour seem like they really enjoy it and are very knowledgeable about how caves work and all of the formations..
Izak R — Google review
The views are stunning. The prices are reasonable. The coaster is probably one of the funnest things I’ve ever done and the cave tours are absolutely amazing if you have kids or even just if you’re an adult, the gondola ride is really fun and just the views when you come out of the caves or up top I absolutely love it here and if you’re visiting, you should check it out and do all of the rides and all of the cave tours, the guides and the tour guides are absolutely amazing extremely knowledgeable extremely funny. I absolutely love every time I come to visit going to Glenwood Springs and go to the adventure park.
Ghost — Google review
Being a park and coaster enthusiast I’ve been to many parks. I had heard mostly good things about Glenwood Caverns and decided to take a day trip up there with a friend. I was thoroughly impressed with the park! The pricing felt reasonable for the attractions offered, service and staff were excellent, the atmosphere was quite nice, the food was decent, and the rides were of a good quality overall! I especially enjoyed the cave tours and 4 coasters! The tour guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and made for a fun experience inside both caves! I do wish they had a few more rides with more variety, but what they have is great!
Josh C — Google review
After I got around the hiccup that was me figuring out the free parking, the GCAP was a excellent addition to my Glenwood experience. The views up there are hard to beat, and while we intitially were up there in nothing but rain and fog, when the clouds finally parted it was truly magical. It is to be noted that the adventure park is a bit limited to what younger children can do (think 10 and under) and some of the rides are a bit too high intensity for those of young age and wrangling any youngsters in caves can also be a hassle. I wasn't wrangling children myself but parents be aware. The caverns are absolutely stunning but the Fairy Cavern miiiight trigger the unknowning claustrophobic (don't find out the hard way folks) Overall - lovely experience - definitely recommend.
Paige K — Google review
Yes you can drive up on Transfer Trail, up to the lot where I took these picture. Transfer Trail is a free public road. There is a separate back service only private road with restricted access to Glenwood Cavern Adventure park that is not open to the public. It is gated with no trespassing, but all other roads are free and open to the public. It is a totally free drive, mostly gravel, but no need for a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Nice place to stop, enjoy the views, enjoy your picnic lunch. If you like, you can also visit Glenwood Adventure Park, ride the Gondola up and enjoy all the park has to offer. Gate passes run from $37 to $84 per person per day. I didn't see any family friendly pricing options on their website. Enjoy.
David B — Google review
We visited a weekday at the end of October and it was fantastic. Only one food vendor was open at this time but that’s the only downside. The rides are fantastic for adrenaline junkies and there were little to no lines. We love a good cave as well and the tours were great! Highly recommend the black light tour of fairy caves.

Box Cañon Falls Park is a rocky area with an 85-foot waterfall, offering trails, picnic spots, and a visitor center. The park features three main trails, including the Falls Trail that leads to the impressive waterfall in a narrow canyon surrounded by hundred-foot walls. For those seeking a longer hike, the High Bridge Trail provides stunning views of the falls from atop the canyon. Additionally, visitors can learn about the park's history through the lit Box Canon sign dating back to 1909.
Even though it's $7 a person to enter it was totally worth it. The structures they built for you to be able to get that close to the waterfall is more than worth it. The parking lot is smaller but we still were able to find parking. It was honestly SO cool to be able to walk this trail and see two different areas. I highly recommend this place.
Tara H — Google review
Amazing experience. The climb to the top of the falls was definitely very steep and rocky but great view! Definitely not super athletic and the first outdoor exercise we did in the altitude so it kicked our butt a bit on the way up. Down was not too bad, just navigating the rocks down. Lower view of the falls definitely allows you to experience the powerful falls more directly. Easy to navigate. A fair number of steps down to the very bottom but you can get a get experience opting out of that if you want.
Heather B — Google review
An absolute must-see in Ouray! Box Cañon Falls Park is one of those places that makes you stop and just soak it all in. The power of the waterfall echoing through the narrow canyon walls is breathtaking — you can feel the mist and hear the roar long before you see it! The rock formations are incredible, sculpted over time by rushing water, and the views from the bridges and walkways are absolutely mesmerizing. There’s a peaceful beauty in the contrast — raw power and serene natural design all in one place. We also loved learning about the rare Black Swifts that return here every summer to nest along the cliffs — such a special touch that makes the park even more unique. It’s an easy walk, family-friendly, and the sound of the falls inside the canyon is something you’ll never forget. Whether you’re a nature lover, photographer, or just exploring Ouray’s charm, this stop is a highlight of any Colorado trip!

Cool location we stumbled on by chance. But we are sure glad we did. We are on a motorcycle tour and we ride each day. And we look for cool “lunch” locations to have a picnic lunch. In our search we found Box Canon Falls. While it is not a picnic ground it is an Awsome natural water fall worth seeing. There is a charge to get in. About $7 per person. There are discounts for seniors and military members. There is an entrance with a gift shop and public bathrooms. And a water dispensing station. One picnic table near the entrance where we sat. But you could find locations along the way. But not as convenient! The falls are about a 5 minute walk from the entrance. There are two (2) walking loops. One goes over the top and is roughly a 1/2 mile walk with a 200’ climb up and down. The other is a much shorter walk to the lower level of the falls. Also has steps and a large catwalk that takes you to the mouth of the falls and the pools at the base. You can walk down steps to the base and feel the mist and touch the water It’s quite beautiful and you can feel the power of the falls. Well worth the money to see and you can certainly do both loops if you feel fit enough. If you want the less strenuous walk. Go to the base of the falls. 5 minutes to get to the falls. Maybe 10 minutes out of walking. As they say with steps. Going down is optional. Coming up is mandatory. Enjoy!
Mike R — Google review
A can't miss experience. If you are anywhere near this beautiful canyon and magnificent waterfall, you have to go. The enclosed nature of the water fall and sheer volume of water falling vibrates your whole body as you are able to observe very close to the waterfall. Definitely memorable.

Great experience! The power of the waterfall is amazing. Make sure to go to the bottom as well as look down from the suspension bridge. It’s a short hike up to the bridge but well worth it! Rainbow was over Ouray, looked like we were seeing from underneath it. Amazing!
Courtney W — Google review
Wow wow wow. Started off with the high bridge trail. My four year old was able to manage the trek up with a little help and guidance. Breathtaking views from the top. This was followed by a march to the bottom of the falls. I was surprised by how uncrowded the bottom part of the park was. Easily able to walk right up to the water and feel the spray. Incredibly loud! Then we walked to the very bottom and got right up next to the water, which we stuck our hands in. It was freezing! Beautiful and well worth the trip.
Bayan R — Google review
Amazing place with a stunning waterfall! The waterfall is absolutely breathtaking — a must-see! You can also hike up the valley for an incredible view looking down at the charming town below. In the mountains, there is a resort that offers both summer and winter activities. It boasts a large area for skiing and snowboarding with quick lifts that minimize waiting times. The backside of the mountain is particularly fast with no long lines. There are many groomed areas to explore and multiple routes to take, making it an ideal destination for those who enjoy spending time on the slopes. Additionally, live bands perform at the base, adding to the overall experience.
We went right before the summer season started and it was wonderful. The shops were closed, but there were also less people which was refreshing. We met the GM Hana at the pool area and she made the experience more pleasant by helping us find some things and giving us ideas of things to do around the area.

Past experiences were better. This time around the condo we rented was not in good condition. The bathroom sinks barely had water pressure, the toilet wouldn’t flush, the shower doors were broken, it wasn’t as clean as it used to be and when we first walked in it smelled so strong like pinesol we had to open all the windows and doors to air it out. Called the front office to get things fixed and at first they said it will need to air over night, I explained the toilet had over flowed and we had to clean up the floors, what if it gets worse and over flows to the carpet? Then they sent someone to fix it, however the other bathroom started having issues. For the price we paid it wasn’t worth the hassle.
Natalie R — Google review
The place does offer cool views and some fun activities like the lift and alpine coaster. But, this was such a disappointment. We rented a two bedroom condo and as soon as we walked in, the place stunk. We immediately opened all windows and patio doors and started rubbing the fans. I found a can of sanitizing aerosol spray, but it didn’t mask the stink of the space. The carpet was disgusting, stains all throughout the floor from years of neglect. We were so excited initially, but the reality was gross. Our clothes stunk after we left. It’s also a hike from downtown Durango (we knew this), but there is an awesome Hot Springs facility nearby I’d highly recommend. As someone mentioned, many things at the resort are closed in the summer (naturally). For those reviewing before booking, I’d skip this place if I had high standards for where I stay. It needs some love (and renovation). Avoid the “I wish we’d have stayed somewhere else” feeling.

🚨FUTURE BRIDES BEWARE🚨 One of my friends had the MOST beautiful wedding at Dante’s at Purgatory Resort, a place where MANY are waitlisted to get married here. The venue, gorgeous, the ceremony outside gorgeous. Let’s talk about the reception and why Purgatory is getting 1 star from me. There is absolutely no reason that the kitchen should’ve been asked not once, but TWICE to please wait until the end of speeches to resume cleaning because THE ONLY thing you could hear after dinner during speeches WAS THE KITCHEN. There is no way being that close in proximity and the fact that they work there, that they definitely know how loud the kitchen can get. I asked for them to give us 20 minutes until we’re on the dance floor, another guest actually went and yelled at them 5 minutes later. I did not agree with this approach, yet the employees still did not stop banging plates and pans in the sink as well as the loud conversations. Employees were rude, did not stop interrupting and being loud. It was extremely disappointing as my friends GUEST, so you can only imagine how embarrassed she felt on HER day because of YOUR staff. Additionally, we double checked what our selections for the dinner, they served MULTIPLE people the wrong item. More than 5 of us have it documented that we ordered the steak, and they provided 4 of us with chicken. They wouldn’t bring out more steak, and argued with wedding guests about it as well. Highly unprofessional, I know how much my friends paid to have their wedding at Purgatory and the ONLY part that made it worth it was the view.

Went here for the summer activities. It was ok. Views were great, the mountain coaster was fun. Very fast! Wanted to do the alpine slide but they closed it because it was supposed to start sprinkling. Gem mining was ok. Given that we didn’t use the whole passes and the refund policy on the website is completely different than what is practiced, it was beyond disappointing as my son and I drove 4.5hrs to come up here. Don’t think I’ll be back for the summer activities, given they will close things at random and not uphold the refund policy stated online. Just enjoy the city of Durango and bypass this place in the summer.

Website was very misleading when booking lessons. It does not show availability but makes it seem the reservation takes, only making it further difficult in attempting to request a refund. Would not have chosen here if I had known.

Came here for the summer fun activities. Naturally it starts raining. No big deal, not the parks fault. But you'd think while waiting you could go explore the shops And places to eat, ya know kill some time waiting on the weather. Except every place here is closed other than the pizza place. Which is crazy during summer season.

We went for the day to enjoy the ski lift, alpine slide, and mountain coaster. Our boys, 10 and 13, had the time of their lives. There was some lightening nearby that shut down those activities for a bit but we hung around, played disc golf, sat and just enjoyed the scenery.
