Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Bridal Falls Waterpark is a seasonal water park located in Rosedale, British Columbia, Canada. It features heated pools, water slides of varying difficulty levels, and a giant hot tub. The park offers amenities such as free parking, a concession stand, snack bar, showers, washrooms, and change rooms. Visitors can enjoy the thrill of the slides without having to climb slippery stairs as there are plastic walkways for easy access.
Was a great experience esp for the little ones!! Reasonable pricing and free parking with in and out privileges. It was easy to visit. We will definitely be back! Ps most of the food was sold-out. We had to dine elsewhere.
Rahim K — Google review
This place is perfect for kids 5 and under. Adults and everyone else, it's s just a kiddie pool. All the slides were closed minus two very small kid slides. On the plus side it was not busy at all. Hot tub was perfect temp. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Allie M — Google review
We recently visited Bridal Falls Waterpark hoping to support a local business, but the experience was shocking and unacceptable. The tube slide is still closed, yet patrons are charged full admission. The website claimed all body slides were open, which was the main reason we went. When we arrived, my children lined up for the body slides only for me to notice there was no water running. I asked a lifeguard, and he casually said they were still doing repairs and waiting for them to set, which would take at least 30 minutes. That 30 minutes quietly turned into over 2.5 hours without any announcement over the PA system or notification to guests. Opening times for the body slides kept changing constantly. Guests were asking lifeguards every few minutes for updates, but the staff were evasive and unhelpful. Management in the office was rude, dismissive, and unapologetic about the delays. No announcements were made to inform anyone about the situation. The lifeguards were completely unprofessional. They allowed people to linger and sit in front of the body slides, even occupying platforms marked “Lifeguard Only.” The fundamental rule of clearing the pool as soon as people exit the slides was ignored. One child accidentally splashed a lifeguard while exiting the water, and the lifeguard yelled at the child. These lifeguards behave like a mean-girls or mean-boys gang rather than professionals. They should be fired immediately and replaced with mature lifeguards who understand their responsibility to keep guests safe. Why are repairs being done while the park is open? Considering the serious injuries that happened on the tube slide last year, this raises severe concerns about the park’s overall safety practices. Charging full price when most attractions are unavailable is unacceptable. The ongoing repairs during operating hours are a blatant safety hazard, and Technical Safety BC should flag this immediately. The park needs more inspections and stricter oversight. While my children waited at the top of the hill for the body slides, no lifeguard was present to tell them the slides were closed. I had to personally tell a lifeguard to go up and notify the kids. This is a dangerous oversight. What if a child had gone down a slide under repair? Unsupervised slides are an accident waiting to happen. Many families, including ours, drive out here every year with the intention of supporting a local business. After the horrific accident last year in which people were seriously injured, we were hesitant but gave the park the benefit of the doubt. That trust has been completely undermined by this visit. The combination of ongoing repairs during park hours, unprofessional and inattentive staff, misleading advertising, and rude management makes this park unsafe and unreliable. Management needs to take immediate action. Lifeguards must understand that their job is to protect guests, not socialize or act like they are above the rules. Until serious safety and staffing issues are addressed, I cannot recommend this park to anyone. Cultus Lake offers a far superior experience and much better value for the price. (*See photos)

We absolutely loved this place! The staff were so warm and friendly, and they made sure my kids were having the best time. Even though the tube slide was closed, there were still plenty of activities to keep us all entertained throughout the day. I have to mention one blonde staff member in particular who was amazing with the kids on the slides she really went out of her way to make the experience extra special for the little ones. I truly appreciated how much effort they put into making the day enjoyable for everyone!
Emily B — Google review
This is a pretty fun water park. It is good for most people. Even for little kids, they can still enjoy the enfant safe part. The slides are fast when you lay down and slow when you sit up. There a little wait to go on the bigger slide. Even the people that only come in the park and not play need to pay the full price too. But overall a good experience.
Derek W — Google review
Went for the first time great for families with smaller kids. There were no stairs and the park is relatively small keeping it easy to keep track of little ones. The slides do enough of thrill for the kids to enjoy but not as big and spread out as cultas. The food was ok but the time to prep the food was too long especially for a bit so busy day. We went when the tube slide was not open so that was a bit of a disappointment however the website was clear in stating and sharing the information so I appreciated the communication. Overall was a good day and a place I would like to come again.
Ritu M — Google review
Honestly, for what it is, it's perfect. Smaller slides but you can sit in the hot tub and see your kids the whole time. Nostalgic candy shop, good tunes playing, much more chill than Cultus Lake. We had a lovely afternoon there. Buying tickets online is a bit cheaper (but you have to buy before 10am for same day tickets). We did the half day (late afternoon) and it was great.
Katherine S — Google review
The rapid river is the prime draw for my family. The other four main slides are okay, but the time in lineups compared to actual slide time is not terribly good. Long lines on the river, however, go quickly and the time on the river is a quasi-dangerous hoot! There's also a good amount of space to set up day camp and the scenery around the park is second to none.

Mountains
Cheam Peak is a mountain peak located in the Fraser Valley of eastern Canada. The peak stands at an elevation of 6,903 feet and has a pyramid-shaped structure that offers stunning vistas of the surrounding alpine meadows. To access the hiking trail, visitors must drive through a forest service road that requires a 4x4 vehicle with good clearance due to deep ditches along the way.
Amazing views! Super rewarding at the top. 6 hours up and down for us. NEED a 4x4 to get to the parking lot. 102 washouts on the road!
Solvi S — Google review
Great hike, the path is straightforward, there are some side paths as well but they all go up eventually. Plenty of blueberries on the way up. Easy to intermediate about 2hr hike one way from the parking lot. 4x4 its a must.
El B — Google review
Absolutely stunning hike. I’ve done it in the summer and in autumn now, and autumn wins in terms of views. The colours are unbelievably beautiful, and the view at the end are 360° of the Fraser Valley and the mountain ranges around. Whole hike is exposed and there are no water sources. Bring lots of water, sunscreen, and hats. There is also no garbage here so please be mindful and leave no trace. Unfortunately, with the popularity of this hike growing, there is an increase of litter on the trails. Also please don’t even bother trying to come if you don’t have a 4x4 - we saw an Evo attempting the first bit of the drive and you are certainly not going to make it. You need a high clearance vehicle as the road gets significantly worse in the second half. I think it’s been getting worse with all the traffic on it this summer.
FB — Google review
A high clearance 4x4 vehicle is recommended for the service road, eventhou I was passed by a mercedes glc350 while almost losing my rear bumper 🤣 view was spectacular the wholeway but it's non stop uphilll and quite steep in sections with minimal shade.
Sun P — Google review
Beautiful hike. Get there as early as possible as the summit isn’t meant for a lot of people. I got to the trail head at around 8am and there was about 5 other vehicles at the top. The road in as others mention is pretty rugged. The hike itself didn’t take too long maybe 3-4 hours there and back. On my way back after noon the trail was packed. All definitely worth checking out
Nicholas G — Google review
You will need a 4x4 to get to the trail head parking lot. That was the most challenging part of the experience for us. The hike is full of rewards and the view from the peak is breathtaking.
Robin S — Google review
Gorgeous view and fun hike! Lots of friendly squirrels at the top where the bench is located. The hike itself is not too hard nor too long. It’s just that reaching to the trail head is very treacherous. I drove 4x4 suv and still managed to get a flat tire and a ripped bumper on the way out. Saw three other cars getting flats as well.
Kanako S — Google review
The forest road that leads to the hiking trail took us about 45 minutes to drive. The drive is off road and bit challenging if its your first time off-roading, but the view is breathtaking! Pretty hard hike. Its easy at first and then mostly uphill. The climb is worth it! I recommend this hike if you have a 4x4 vehicle.

Nestled in the charming town of Harrison Hot Springs, the Harrison Hot Springs Mineral Pool is a delightful destination for families and visitors of all ages. This public pool, distinct from the hotel and resort pools, offers a unique opportunity to experience natural mineral springs that have attracted guests for over a century. The water is sourced directly from one of the local springs and maintained at a soothing temperature of 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit), making it an ideal spot to unwind, especially during chilly winter months.
Lovely place with a charming vibe. Public pool with the mineral water is reasonably cheap, but spaces may be limited. On the shore is the play ground, washroom and place for the barbecue!
Igor C — Google review
It was a little basic and I feel as a tourist it was not a memorable experience. My suggestion is to make it different and memorable. Maybe plastic plants, Buddhist statues, affirmation messages, sounds of nature and things like that. Offer meditation. You might even charge more for a better healing experience. I think this place has the potential to be amazing given its location across from the beach.
Chris P — Google review
It's such an old mineral swimming pool I do not like it. My kids didn't have fun. It doesn't have an outdoor swimming pool, but it is an expansive pool.
Pouyan M — Google review
Nice hot mineral pool shallow to 4 ft deep. With cement sitting places inside the pool under water. Sitting on it puts you up to the neck. Recommended pool time 15 minutes. Out of the pool lots of beach type chairs. It wasn't too crowded midweek. Lots of metered parking outside. One can rent lockers and towell. Need to take a shower before going into the pool and after. The water was hot but not too hot.
Abdul A — Google review
Although the pool felt awesome after our long drive -I felt it was very run down. The hand blower did not work in bathroom. The Matt's in change rooms were ripped. One of the two toilets was plugged and the place was dirty, no bathing suit spinner or plug to dry your hair. Radium and Ainsworth were beautiful outdoor springs and charged 2.00 more. We were through here in 9 years ago and remember the beautiful pools outside now it's not open to the public very sad!
Sue H — Google review
2025-Nov-15, the cashier boy seem doesn't like his job or people (impolite). Hope you smile more when you do customer service. Pool is not crowded, clean. A lot of locker and changing room. There is a big window facing the lake.
Dang T — Google review
A bit outdated. But overall staff are okay and the pool water is comfortable and warming-hot. Worth a visit. Make sure to call in before you drive over though to make sure they are open. Parking is free 5 minutes walk away before the visitor Centre, or paid parking within 1 minute walk away. Entry is CA$16 per person general ticket, all tax & fees inclusive.
P P — Google review
I took my granson son twice at the posted times it said on the web site , it was Not Open..Several other people , tourists were there outside also disapointed it wasnt open. When I eventualy got in and asked the life guard why it was closed he said there was a shortage of life guards for The Publc Mineral Pool ? third time lucky ? I followed the times posted on the pool doors after the second attempt failed. I have been going to the pool over the years and For a World Class Destination , the Public Mineral Pool has gone down hill big time . The pool tiles need a good clean as do the pool water gutters and a coat of paint and wood stain would be a good idea also .New curtains in the changing rooms to brighten it up. Very disapointing to see a World Class Destination used by people from all over the world that are not staying at the Hotel neglected like this . :(

Hicks Lake

Campground

Bodies of Water
Hicks Lake, situated within Sasquatch Provincial Park just north of Harrison Hot Springs, is a family-friendly destination offering various water activities such as motor boating, canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The campground provides basic amenities like running water for boiling and pit toilets. Despite limited privacy due to tree foliage and occasional generator noise, the serene environment offers stunning mountain views and clear lake waters.
Great campsites / day use area with plenty of parking, walking trails, and even a boat launch. (Maximum 7.5kw 10HP motor allowed) The campsites are nestled along trees. There are trailer and tenting spots available, water taps to fill up with fresh water, along with pit toilets, and plenty of garbage / recycling bins around. The campsites themselves can range in size from small to big, with some sites having lake views. The gravel road can be a bit rough for towing a trailer in, but slow and steady, it's absolutely doable! The beaver pond trail adjacent to the campsite is about a 20-minute round trip and offers cool scenery, boardwalks, and some pretty interesting information signs about the local wildlife. Would recommend checking this place out if you haven't yet!
D A — Google review
It is overall a great campsite, our site was spacious enough (some sites are too crowded/near each other) and well maintened. Not sure year round but there were a bit of bees. The water is clear and with some fish. The forest logging roads on the way is a beginners level and not much rocks but plenty of potholes. Easy camp within 2hrs from the lower mainland. Please be diligent in researching and booking campsites via the BC parks website.
GritGuide 6 — Google review
INCREDIBLE, BEAUTIFUL hike. I do recommend being prepared. If you go early, there will be a lot of spider webs on the path. You need a stick. We didn't see a another human the entire hike. Very nice walk, easy difficulty. We saw the bear poop and knew he was around. We only had one can of Bubbly with us. We were city slickers not prepared at all. The threat of the bear is real.
Ponda B — Google review
Definitely enjoyed the campground, very clean. The park Rangers, we're constantly driving around, making sure that all the garbage cans recycling cans were all clean and emptied. Outhouses were clean. It's nice. Sandy beach area with lots of picnic tables. Make sure you bring extra tarps. In case it gets windy, so you can make a wind shelter. To block the wind

Beautiful place to relax , if you coming for camping there is a lots of good spots to choose from. Swimming, walking, or relaxing with the book you choose what you like 💖🌞🏕
Iwona Z — Google review
Hicks Lake is a hidden gem! The water is clean, calm, and surprisingly warm - perfect for swimming. It’s a great spot for kayaking, with a few small islands you can paddle to and relax on their quiet, scenic beaches. Peaceful and beautiful, it’s a perfect escape into nature.
Zoi T — Google review
Beautiful lake, very well kept! The drive up isn’t super rough either which was nice!
Taylor B — Google review
This lake is absolutely gorgeous. Warm water great for swimming. Lots of beaches and rock areas so there’s room for everyone. There are dog aloud areas and no dog allowed areas. Multiple bathrooms pick Nick tables and swimming areas. Great trails to walk and explore. Lots of free parking and wheelchair accessible. There is camping available as well. Great Lake to take the family to. Sun and shade areas. Lots of geese to enjoy but with that comes a lot of geese poop. The geese poop is the only downfall to this lake

Sasquatch Provincial Park is a stunning destination featuring picturesque lakes, lush forests, and abundant wildlife. The park is a popular choice for camping, hiking, boating, and wildlife viewing. Visitors can explore numerous scenic trails and discover secluded beach areas along the perimeter of Hicks Lake. The waterfront camping at Hicks Lake offers a beautiful setting for outdoor enthusiasts. While some visitors have found the reservation system confusing, others have enjoyed the flexibility to choose from available spots upon arrival.
Hicks Lake Campground nice and got no problem at all with the ranger. With stunning lake and mountain view and you can enjoy water activity such as swimming, kayaking, canoeing and even fishing. There is a playground too for kids, dog friendly campsite off leash on site. Pit washrooms available. I will definitely keep coming back here and even stay longer. Campsite open till Oct 15, 2024 this year.

This is one of my favorite campgrounds. They have a beautiful quiet lake and the campground itself is peaceful and enjoyable. The only downside is the unpaved road to the campsite, it is very bumpy; but if you're willing to drive down that road it is worth it.
Karen G — Google review
Went camping here one night mid week second week of September. No reservation since it requires 48 hr lead time. But of all the spots only about 10 were taken. We had the choice of lovely #7 or #10 lakeside. Wonderful hiking - we hiked to the beach at the east end of the lake, and then retraced our steps - to stay on a trail instead of taking the north side route which was an old logging road. When you enter the campground, you need to check the bulletin board to see what spots are not reserved. They have a list, so snap a picture of it. The list is for a two day period - it was for the day we arrived and the day before. If you find a spot with no reservation print out on the little reserved/address post of the spot - it either means the people used the spot and left or if after 11 am of the second day, the spot will be given up to other parties since the people who paid for the reservation did not arrive. It is pretty easy to find the friendly ranger to ask about a spot if this is the situation you find yourself in. If you find a spot that is not on the list, then it is automatically available for you to take :). The ranger will come by later to collect payment. Cash only, and have loonies/toonies for change.

Sasquatch Provincial Park is truly a wilderness gem, offering a fantastic outdoor experience that my family thoroughly enjoyed. With two stunning lakes, Hick's Lake and Deer Lake, and an array of family-friendly hiking trails, it's a nature lover's paradise. Our hike at Hick's Lake, which was around 6 km, was an absolute delight. Even my 7-year-old son had a blast, and that's a testament to how kid-friendly the trail is. The path meandered through lush forests with captivating glimpses of the lake, creating a perfect balance of adventure and serenity. Hick's Lake itself is a marvel, and the beach was a great spot to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The day-use area can get a bit crowded, especially when the weather is nice, but it's understandable as the park is a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of nearby Harrison. We also camped at Sasquatch Provincial Park, and while some of the double sites were a bit challenging to navigate due to rocks, they offered a good level of privacy. The lack of cell service was a bonus, truly immersing us in the wilderness experience. Deer Lake was a peaceful, lesser-known lake in the park. It provided a serene contrast to the more popular Hick's Lake, and we appreciated the tranquility. One small hiccup was the lack of clear signage for the bench campground, but once we found it, we were pleased with our choice. Sasquatch Provincial Park is a hidden wilderness paradise, offering outdoor activities for all ages and a great escape from the Harrison crowd. It's a place where you can truly disconnect and appreciate the natural beauty of British Columbia.
Pradip G — Google review
Beautiful lake and great sites but confusing system. I rolled in only to find every site with a red reserved sign. It was odd because there was only a few people in the entire park and it was already 7:00. It was a ghost town with every site reserved. I drove around forever and couldn't find a site host to ask. I was about to leave but had nowhere else to go so I finally just parked in a site and a host eventually came around for payment. Turns out from what I understand the reserved sign means NOTHING. You have to find the announcement board, look at a printed sheet and find out which numbers are actually reserved. Take a picture of the papers and drive around looking at the site numbers to see if they are reserved. This process wasnt posted on the board or anywhere. Why even have the reserved signs, what purpose do they serve? Just make a sign that says 'find and refer to announcement board'.
Brent — Google review
The Lakeside campground is located within a 5 minute walk to the small beach and Deer Lake. It’s about a 22km drive from Lakeside campground to Harrison Hot Springs in case you need to make any beer or grocery runs. The gravel road leading to the campground (approximately 5km) is full of potholes and we had quite the adventure weaving through them. The campsites are really close together so there isn’t much privacy – especially the ones in the middle. We stayed at the site L40 in April 2019 and there was no shade or trees to tie onto to. There are only outhouses there – no flush toilets or showers. There was a hand pump for water (the other taps were still closed for the season). The outhouses were kept very clean. The highlight of the campground is definitely the close proximity to the lake and dock. There is a short hike that goes partially around the lake. Other than that, there is not much else to explore and see in this area. You do have the option of checking out the bigger lake – Hicks Lake. The service people were incredibly friendly and on top of things. We bought bundles of wood from them (3 for $22).
Jennie Y — Google review
What you would expect from a highly trafficked provincial park campground. Deer lake (Lakeside camp ground) beach sites have Pit toilets. Running water, shaded campsites. Goose poop covered grass beach. Shallow water dock. Boat launch with parking. Electric motors only. Dogs ok leashed. A few km of gravel road in. $23 a night.
Damon H — Google review
We stayed at Bench campground for two nights. The park was clean and quite. 13 km away from Harrison Hot springs, quite remote and no mobile signal coverage. Park does not have any showers, flush toilets and only pit toilets. There are couple of lakes near by to enjoy. Good for RV campers than tents.

SO many talented people in Hope. There are incredible works of art in this gallery. I didn't have much to spend so I purchased 3 ART cards to put on a wall. I can't remember the name of the artist but he/ she has large paintings there as well.

Whether you’re a photographer, a nature lover, or just looking for a peaceful walk with a bit of history, the Othello Tunnels are worth the trip. We’ll definitely be coming back—it’s a gem you don’t want to miss!

Absolutely stunning🌟!! Beautiful mix of nature and history. It’s short walk from the parking lot (5mins). We visited over the weekend and it was pretty busy, parking gets full pretty fast but there’s plenty of parking alongside the road you can use, if you don’t mind walking a few extra meters!! Tunnels are extraordinary. Walk alongside the canyon, with rushing water - its just beautiful😍 Definitely check them out while they are still Open!!

Beautiful place. Wonderful nature with peaceful sound of the clear water. We could enter three tunnels, or actually 2,5; Halfway the last tunnel was a wall built, with a note with the message repairs are needed on the tunnels so we couldn't go further. Despite it was very worth the (15-20 minute?) stop. It was a very little walk of approximately 5 minutes. (Would have been possible/ accessible with wheelchair I guess.)
Desiree M — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous, it was amazing how the tunnels turn around to fabulous views. It's a nice walk towards the entrance and get dark, better to have some form touch or mobile flash would do. The bridges are quite the catch with the view. There are more tunnels and could walk down the way. Definitely a place to visit!

Made a pit stop here on route from Vancouver to Sun Peaks and I’m so glad that we did. The tunnels are incredible. I’ve never seen anything quite like it before. The views are amazing. I highly recommend visiting this place from some unique sights and amazing pictures.

The nature here is absolutely beautiful, and it’s a very interesting historical place. This is a great destination for anyone who loves the rich history of our province. I just have a couple of small suggestions: 1. On weekends, it’s really difficult to find parking — there clearly aren’t enough spots, and there are a lot of tourists. 2. There isn’t much historical information available on-site, so I often had to use Google Search to learn more about the place. Other than that, it’s definitely worth visiting!
Aleks Z — Google review
Finally revisited the Othello tunnels since their full re-opening, the restoration crews did a great job. It may only be a short portion of the historic kettle valley railway, but it's beautiful, the tunnels are a little spooky, and everything feels very safe. Don't forget your flashlight, or the flashlight on your phone.
Andrew M — Google review
Visiting this place is like a small lottery — sometimes you get to see it, sometimes you don’t. Very unexpectedly. Our group tried twice. The second time we even called ahead, and they confirmed the Tunnels were open. We drove more than 150 km — only to find them closed. Why? For how long? Nobody could answer. I hope you’ll be luckier. From the parking lot, it’s just a 12-minute walk along a wide, flat road, comfortable even for seniors and children. On the bright side, the road to this location is very picturesque, which helps soften the disappointment. And by the way, you can also visit the famous Bridal Falls, just 42 km away.

Nature & Parks
Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park is a beautiful natural area that features historic railway tunnels, scenic views of the canyon and river, and unique rock formations. The tunnels offer an opportunity to experience the area's fascinating past, but visitors should be aware of potential hazards such as loose gravel and areas with limited visibility. Despite these challenges, the park is accessible for all ages and makes for a great family outing.
This is a historic and distinctive landmark that offers a lot of character and charm. The path leading to it is quite flat and easy to walk, making it accessible for everyone. However, I did notice that part of the area is currently undergoing maintenance, so only the front cave is open for exploration at the moment. Despite this minor setback, it’s still a destination worth visiting, as the scenery and the unique features of the landmark make it a memorable experience.

Very impressive tunnels, and also a wonderful story behind them. Well worth the almost 2 hour drive from Vancouver. Went there on Civic Holiday (Aug. 1) 2016 with my family, everyone enjoyed the trip. We arrived around 7:30-8:00 PM, so there were few people and the area was quite tranquil. I suggest going quite early or quite late in the day to avoid the large crowds. The picture was taken from the inside of a tunnel, I forgot which one. Edit: The tunnels have reopened after the floods in 2021 on August 19 2024, I went again on August 25 2024 and the tunnels are open to halfway into the second tunnel. You can see workers working on the rest of the tunnels beyond the fence.

Loved the walk-through tunnels and the surrounding area. A beautiful day made the views that much more spectacular. Some areas in the tunnel get dark, others have water dripping down and loose gravel so you shouldn't try to cycle thru. Take time to learn about the amazing history of this place. Definitely coming back with the family as it is a pretty flat walk not too long at all. Would highly recommend it for all ages, you need to see it at least once.

Beautiful scenery as well as an important part of Western history. U just feel different kind of relaxation walking through one of the best nature and man made wonders. So much greenery and the freshness of the air. The sound of the river bouncing off the canyon just makes the best no instrument music ever. I can literally spend all day there jus exploring woods and water and just listen to the water and nature's sounds. Simply just love it!!!

The Othello tunnels are worth a stop if you are coming back or heading to the interior. Great history lesson and amazing scenery. It's a short flat walk and you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful site. Always love going here. It was busy but was fairly spaced out between groups. Parking was a challenge, but still ok. It would be nice if there was a sign for the pathways after the tunnels. Would help to decide the length you want to go and if something is there you want to see.
Ashley H — Google review
Great park showcasing the railroad history in British Columbia. Really cool tunnels to walk through. Bring a flashlight to ensure you can see where your walking as the ground is a little uneven in the tunnels. Very cool views of the river and canyon. Very short walk from the parking lot. Definitely worth a visit. Can get very busy on a hot summer day though.

Was so beautiful and easy to get to the tunnels , something about mother nature that always relaxes me , the only things is there is alot of construction on the roads right now and really bumpy so take it slow .

Rest area and a site of a mountain slide triggered by an earthquake. There is a beautiful memorial to the victims of the slide, buried in their cars many meters under the present Highway 3. This site has toilets but no running water.

Great rest area. A lot of room can even stay overnight with self contained RV. There are toilets as well as EV charging station and a plaque that explains the history. Unfortunately, people do not put their garbage in the garbage bins so there are some areas that it is a bit of a mess

Last stop on my trip through the Kootenays! Didn't know there was an EV station here. But there are pit toilets! The info on the hope slide is very sobering. The power of nature unleashing itself is just incredible sometimes. There was a lake here????

Unexpected discovery during our roadtrip to Osoyoos this year. We stopped to get some leg rest and found this interesting historical spot. Stop by and visit this place, read about historical events happened here in 1960s. There is parking with EV charging stations, washrooms, and picknick tables with a killer view.
Larisa S — Google review
Not much to say here, its a big memorial of a tragic slide and also a marker for a Canadian Air Force plane crash. Thank you to all who serve.

Fascinating piece of Canadian history I knew nothing about until I went for a motorcycle ride and stopped at this place. When you actually see the volume of rock that moved with your own eyes, it is quite humbling. A single rock slide reshaped an entire valley, took out a lake and killed 4 people. Don't fight mother nature is a valid saying; she will win every battle.

While planning for my road trip to Kamloops, I wanted to to stop by a few places on the way, this is one of the recommended place while on road trip to Kamloops. I was travelling over the weekend and I reached there around noon time. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful and they guide and answer your questions. I couldn’t explore the house as it was under renovation and as a result I got a cheap pas of $5 ad opposed to $12 regular pass. I went inside to look around, it’s fairly a small site with a house, some tents and an old church. There’s a place for gold panning as well if you like to do that.

Yale Historic site near hope, 25 $ for 5 member family or per head 10 $, they display year of 1858 medical clinic, saloon, grocery store, also small musium, and beautiful church open for public, highly recommended for visit this place with family
Prince M — Google review
This is a wonderful place to visit if you’re interested in history and want to get a sense of what life was like during the Gold Rush era. The Yale Historic Site is well preserved, with informative displays, artifacts, and friendly staff who are happy to answer questions. Walking around the buildings gives you a feeling of stepping back in time, and the museum itself is small but filled with interesting stories. The site is not huge, so you can easily explore it in an hour or so, which makes it a nice stop along the way if you’re traveling through the Fraser Canyon. I especially enjoyed the church and the original homes, as they give you a very authentic vibe.

I had a wonderful experience at the Yale Historic Center. It’s a place full of history, beautifully maintained, and with a welcoming atmosphere that truly invites you to learn and connect with the past. A special thanks and congratulations to Anderson for his outstanding work and dedication. His commitment is evident in every detail—from the thoughtful organization to the warm way he welcomes visitors. I'm especially grateful for the events hosted at the center. They're always well-planned, engaging, and enriching for the whole community. Thank you for keeping history alive in such an inspiring way!

Visiting the Yale Historic Center was a truly enriching experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. The center offers a fascinating glimpse into local history, with well-curated exhibits, carefully preserved spaces, and an atmosphere that invites exploration and learning. We’d like to give a special shout-out to Anderson, the manager, whose work truly elevated our visit. His knowledge, kindness, and attention to detail reflect a genuine passion for both history and hospitality. He took the time to answer our questions, offered thoughtful recommendations, and ensured every guest felt welcome and valued. Thank you, Anderson, for your dedication and outstanding service. We will absolutely return—and highly recommend the Yale Historic Center to anyone looking to connect with history through an engaging and well-run experience!

The site is beautifully preserved, with highlights, built in 1863 and still standing proudly in its original location — a true testament to the town's enduring legacy. A heartfelt congratulations to Anderson for the incredible work and unwavering commitment to preserving and bringing history to life. Your passion and dedication shine through every detail of the site. Thank you, Anderson, for everything you’ve done to keep this remarkable piece of Canadian heritage alive. Your work is deeply appreciated and truly inspiring!

Not worth the money unfortunately. We arrived in the entrance, and it was 25$ for a family. We had hoped it would be by donation & we could just do a short walk around. There didn’t seem to be much to do, the staff didn’t give us any info or encourage us to come in, and there weren’t any other people there. We have been to many other small local museums similar, and they were always free or a small donation. We saw the church from the street, and that was enough. There are bathrooms and a small parking lot if you need a rest stop.

Located in the impressive Fraser Canyon, Hell's Gate Airtram offers a breathtaking view of the narrow pass where the powerful Fraser River rushes through. The airtram provides an opportunity to witness the towering rocky walls and raging torrents from a unique perspective. Visitors can also explore various viewpoints, a suspension bridge for picturesque moments, and even enjoy some ice cream at the shop.
Stopped here on a whim(like many others) and it was totally worth it! Getting to be down in the canyon was awesome. Good little gift shop, fun suspension bridge at the bottom and interesting history. The ride on the tram was unique and definitely worth it!
Evan G — Google review
Been here before and decided to bring our road trip to pass by here. Although online suggested buying tickets online, this place was not busy at all with zero line ups and ample parking. The airtram experience was great offering great views to and from its lower facility. This place features multiple exhibits, gift shop, gold panning station, cafe (reviewed separately), bridge, and fudge store that offers a decent experience to the average tourist. Compared to my previous experience, this place feels a little dead. Perhaps it's not the summer season yet, but I feel like the shops they had originally have turned to exhibits for the sake of cutting manpower costs. The gold panning station was kind of lacklustre without anyone teaching about the mechanics like before. Overall it's a solid 3 and very hard for me to place a 4 like before.
Charlie C — Google review
Spectacular views and a unique experience, but a few things to know before you go. Hell’s Gate is definitely worth a visit if you’re driving through the Fraser Canyon. The gondola ride across the canyon is short but breathtaking, and the views of the rushing Fraser River are stunning. The suspension bridge and historical displays add a nice touch, and the whole place feels like a piece of BC history. However, parking is very limited, so try to arrive early. The on-site restaurant has a very limited menu — mostly sandwiches (around $14), two soups, fries, and burgers. The food is overpriced and not very impressive. Also, the gift shop, while fun to browse, is quite expensive. Still, the scenery makes up for the downsides. If you manage your expectations for food and shopping, the overall experience is memorable and well worth it. Also there's only one bathroom at the bottom of the Canon
Josué C — Google review
Been running since 1968 and well worth stopping and doing the tram. A good history lesson on it being part of the gold rush. Great gift shop and restaurant, staff are very friendly.
Ciccio — Google review
A great place to stop and stretch your legs on a long road trip and well worth the time spent. A great look into the history of the salmon runs on the river. There’s a great little ‘spooky’ self-guided tour and the suspension bridge was definitely a bit hair raising. Also, they have a penny crusher machine so make sure you have some loonies!
Joanna ( — Google review
Skip it! Don’t waste your money here. They had the most unfriendly staff, if you can even find one. The place is like a ghost town. If I knew how rundown this place had gotten, I wouldn’t even pay $5 a person to get in let alone the hefty price of $37. Thank goodness my son under 5 still otherwise it’s $32 a kid! There are zero activities there, the “gold panning” is a disgrace - the water is a biohazard and there was barely any gravel let alone any “gold”. I feel offended for all the tourist that come here and think this place represents Canada in any way shape or form. Also, 1 single gum ball at the candy store was $23.09…. Excuse me whatttt?!?
M Y — Google review
I've been to hell's gate a number of times and it has a nice view of the Frazer river but there isn't really much to do once you've taken the airtram to the bottom. The gift store is lacking and doesn't have much things to offer but the fudge on the other had is really good. The tickets for hells gate are kind of expensive but understanding this place is more of a tourist attraction. 7/10
Marley C — Google review
Super disappointing and limited experience. This is my Honest review with no filter or sugar coating. I would have given it one star but fell sorry because nature and surrounding elements are spectacular indeed. Where do we start with negatives?! First off the price set at $35 is not only steep but completely unjustified. I read a review before I went there that it’s very rundown and nothing really to do there. I didn’t believe it until I saw it with my own eyes. Once you get up across the river after a very. Beautiful but short tram ride you have a suspension bridge, a counter that was once a restaurant, a sad, overpriced and limited store, a small gallery history museum and a Fudge and candy store that sells terrible fudge by the way. The restaurant looks so run down that we didn’t order anything. They had 5-6 food choices on the menu and it’s an actual counter self serve cashier. The store sells some items and cheap souvenirs some you’d find in Vancouver aquarium and bc ferries but much more pricey. The sweet shop / ice cream fudge was a total joke. I got a sea salt and caramel. If you’ve never had a fudge in your life there is a small chance you might like it. It was salty like they dumped the salt and rolled it into a mushy paste with some hint of sweet caramel. I almost died in the first bite. The whole place seems unkept and rundown. It really is a shame because it is such a heritage site and deserves to shine. I imagine if a better owner take care of this place it could receive some boost and major upgrades.

REO Rafting, Glamping & Yoga Resort is a perfect destination for families with older kids seeking an adventurous bonding experience. The resort offers classic amenities like spa days, poolside drinks, and a private beach, but the main attraction is the thrilling white water rafting experience. The adrenaline-pumping activity encourages teamwork and unity among family members. Even nervous guests have praised the staff's patience in making them feel at ease before embarking on the rafting adventure.
I went with my friends for a mini-weekend get away. We were all tired and worn and just needed some natural relaxation. REO was the perfect fit for us. From the phone booking to our last meal, we felt the attentiveness and warmth of the staff and the care of each detail in our vacation. REO has experienced many setbacks from surviving the pandemic to an atmospheric river flood to a wild fire. Despite all this, the resort provided a full array of activities including white water rafting, kayaking/paddle boarding, yoga classes, massage, hammock garden, hot tubs, fire pits for nighttime gatherings and of course, amazing riverside patios. Inside the spacious tents, the bedding was comfortable and warm, and I fell asleep to the sound of the raging river every night. There are single room toilets and showers that were clean and readily available. Every meal was delicious - clean, healthy and satisfying food. But I have to say, my favourite experience was Brian, the owner. He would come around at lunch or dinner time to casually say hi and answered our questions. We were able to let him know our needs and likes and he would so discreetly offer us the best solutions. We felt very well taken care of. This is my second time to REO, I will be returning again with family and friends. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to all Canadians and International visitors looking for either adventure or a place to relax.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My husband and I celebrated our 10-year anniversary just a couple of hours from home at the most charming little gem tucked in the mountains—REO Resort. Our package included everything, but due to feeling unwell, we kept things simple and soaked in the beauty of the resort and the nearby lakes. And truly, that was more than enough. We were blown away by the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. The resort was immaculately clean, peaceful, and thoughtfully designed. Even though the main bathrooms were out of order during our stay (and making the trek every hour while 34 weeks pregnant felt like a hike in itself!), we still had a wonderful experience. The food deserves its own review—every meal was intentional, fresh, healthy, and absolutely delicious. Five-star dining that we’re still dreaming about! It was exactly what we needed. Quiet, restorative, and deeply special. Highly recommend!
Cally P — Google review
Amazing experience here at REO! The amazing: the staff are so friendly and helpful. Bryan and Karen really care about this property and business and it shows in the way they treat each of us like a valued guest. The tents were beautiful and clean, right by the river. The food is homemade, and delicious. It is served by the staff along with some help-yourselves on the side. The good to know, in case you are planning to go: the river noise level is a bit high even for a sound sleeper like me, I would actually recommend wearing light earplugs to block out the loud white noise! The last 8km are all varying levels of gravel, so drive a car that can handle the bumps and pebbles. Overall, I had an amazing experience and would highly recommend it to anyone who is considering!
Ada — Google review
I met up with 4 long-time friends for a 5 days getaway and we had never been to REO before. It far exceeded my expectations! The yurts were large, comfortable and had excellent deck furniture for hanging out by the river. The food was delicious, fresh, and varied in flavours (and plentiful!). The staff were friendly and helpful, and the owner Bryan checked in with us every day, and accepted our teasing with ease. They have done an incredible job rebuilding after the devastating forest fire 2 years ago - from the yurts and yoga buildings, to the hammocks and hot tub, dining area and indoor and outdoor showers, it's a treat to visit. We did rafting and yoga, but added on archery when we got there - it was a surprise how much they had to offer! This is a family-run business with a long and dedicated history to this area and it's connection to nature.
Ian P — Google review
Our family had the most enjoyable visit to REO last week. The resort provided exceptional service, including great food, comfortable tents/beds with exceptional river views at each site, and very helpful staff. The river rafting was a great experience, with professional guides who made the trip down river a great one. The Yoga classes were lead by a great instructor with the most beautiful views available. The private beach and hot tub offered a great place to relax and recharge. There was so much to do, we required more time to do it all! Looking forward to our next visit!
Jane S — Google review
We had a girls weekend here and it was lovely. The tent was beside the river with a beautiful deck. The beds were comfortable and it was close to the bathrooms. All of the services were great and the food was fantastic. Massages were great, Yoga was excellent and kayaking was fun. I will definitely be coming again to enjoy more activities.

Amazing hike up to yak peak! Not for the faint hearted. Hiking poles, good shoes and good fitness will make the hike less challenging.. about a 1km walk for the parking area along the coquihalla highway. And great views once you get to the top with multiple 360 view points all around you. On a clear day it’s a perfect hike to accomplish!

Falls Lake is a serene and picturesque destination nestled in the mountains, offering a short but steep forest hike to reach its clear waters. The campground provides a peaceful retreat for backcountry camping, with only two spots, toilet facilities, and bear bins available. While the area may be prone to bugs during the summer months, visitors can enjoy the tranquility of the lake and its surroundings.
Falls Lake is a truly beautiful and peaceful destination, perfect for anyone looking to escape into nature. During my visit over a long weekend, I was struck by how calm and relaxing the atmosphere was—it’s an ideal spot to unwind away from the noise of daily life. The lake itself is stunning, with scenic water views that make for excellent photo opportunities. The hiking trails, though short, are enjoyable and accessible for all levels, making it a great option for families or anyone who prefers lighter outdoor activities. What really stood out to me was the combination of serenity and natural beauty; it’s the kind of place where you can take your time, breathe deeply, and simply enjoy the surroundings.

I wandered in on a whim - (I was in town for a wedding and was killing a couple of hours) - and quite happily spent well over an hour here. The museum gallery is very well laid out by Era and subject, and includes a wide range of artifacts and stories of Merritt and the Nicola River Valley. I'm a Historian and retired museum curator, and although this museum only briefly touches my field I will plan another trip up from the Coast (by appointment if necessary) so that I may ask to see their reserve collection and archives.

Merritt downtown is a tourist destination. There is a very easy to find Visitor information. They provide a walking map to find Country & Western's Walk of Fame. The stars are framed upright, with handprint & signature (unlike Hollywood where you find them in a sidewalk). Some nice little shops and a bandshell that may have live music on weekends. Quaint little town but don't need more than a day or two stopover. It was 35-38C in July. Stay hydrated.

Super friendly staff! Cute nostalgic place with some souvenirs, local products, and donated knickknacks for sale. They also serve ice cream and have space for picnics out back.

Free charging here for your Tesla if the Tesla Chargers are out of order like today. You just need the standard adapter that came with your car.

we dropped in for information and were offered free coffee, lemonade and delicious home made baking (while it lasts). Lovely and knowledgeable staff, nice gifts made locally. A chance to meet some of the locals and start your trip to the interior with a friendly small town welcome.

Absolutely wonderful people, easily the most welcoming, friendly, and helpful info centre I have been to - which is saying something, as I've only ever had positive experiences with info centres! The ladies here really go above and beyond; they even, very kindly, mailed me something overnight when I forgot it behind after using the centre's bathroom, to ensure I would get it before I moved on to my next destination!

Amazing tourist info place with free lemonade and interesting things to see and buy. Stopped here to use the wash room (single stall) with the family and there was plenty to keep the interest while waiting my turn. :)

Monck Provincial Park

Mentioned on

Nestled along the serene shores of Nicola Lake, Monck Provincial Park is a hidden gem just 30 minutes from Merritt. This stunning park is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, offering an array of activities such as swimming, boating, fishing (with 26 species to catch!), waterskiing, windsurfing, and hiking. Its warm and dry climate makes it a favorite among families looking for a camping getaway.
Monck Provincial was really pretty. The drive from Merritt is gorgeous, we passed many pastures and cattle guards to get to the campground. We stayed there in August and it was quite warm but many sites had shade for a good portion of the afternoon and evening. The roads are mostly paved which is good for kids on bikes. There is a small playground for young children. The "outhouse" toilets are plumbed/flush. The sites were nice and level for our tent trailer. The park had desert-like terrain and was very dry but there were many places to hang hammocks and very little bugs. Mosquitoes were not an issue. The stars and moon at night were incredible. The new park water system was having challenges so we were notified prior to arriving and we brought our own potable water. We chose not to bring our dogs swimming as there were signs posted warning of a blue-green algae issue (toxic for dogs or humans if ingested). There are a number of sites right close to the water if you can get one. The camp staff were very friendly and actively seen around maintaining all the facilities.
Krista K — Google review
A very well maintained campground. We went here for a night with kids. The campsite is very clean and spacious. The washrooms at the campground are equipped with flush toilets and are hygienic. Night sky view is amazing as the trees in campsite are spaced. The lake has a very nice beach and a great day out picnic spot with groundhogs roaming around in the park. All in all a great peaceful place to be at.
Parteek B — Google review
Walking in this beautiful park during off-season is so peaceful and calming. The park attendants have done an amazing job of keeping the place clean and natural. I also love the fact that I am a senior , and they have some outhouses open in each loop.
Mae W — Google review
The campground was so beautiful! The park rangers were super sweet and helpful which made our stay more enjoyable. There was a large group that was VERY loud during quiet hours and playing music late into the night. They were so loud that four different parties had complained about them. They also left food out which is a big no no when camping with the risk of bears. I applaud the park rangers for how well they handled the situation judiciously by removing the group from the campground.
Sadie — Google review
Looking for an amazing Provincial Park camping spot? You have to go visit Monck! We arrived mid-day and the check-in staff was so friendly and kind. We went and set-up our site and we luckily got one with a view to the lake that had a little path down to a beach. Everything was clean and well-kept! The site was on the larger side which was great! The facilities were well maintained and clean. The park staff came by to ensure we were all set-up okay and came around later asking if we needed more firewood. We unfortunately had to cut our trip short as I came down with food poisoning but we want to come back for a full stay soon!
Mirella H — Google review
Super nice campground. All the toilets (including the outhouses) are flush toilets and kept very clean (just be aware there aren't showers). The site hosts are all lovely. Unfortunately our trip was very bad timing because it was in the middle of a heat wave (38°!), their water system was having issues so it wasn't clean water (okay for washing dishes but not okay for ingesting) and the lake had toxic algae blooms so swimming wasn't recommended. All of these things are obviously out of their control and not permanent problems. The only reason I took one star is because I wish the spots were more shaded.
Crystal D — Google review
One of our favorite places to camp (if not our top fave). Hosts are awesome and friendly, everything is always clean and well cared for, sites have space and trees between, noise curfew is well enforced to make it a great experience for families and those who enjoy a quieter setting. The algae bloom was cleared when we got there which was amazing!
Kelly E — Google review
The lake has algae in it that makes it unsafe to swim and fish when it is blooming. If you are planning on booking a site here and want somewhere to fish and swim, I would suggest booking elsewhere. We went while it was about 35°C weather and had to go to other lakes each day which took away from the camping experience. Other notes: - The tap water also unfortunately had manganese in it making it unsafe for consumption. - The campsites do not have many trees so the sites get a lot of sun. I would suggest bringing a tarp or multiple tarps and a lot of rope just to help make some shaded spaces on your site. - The park staff/rangers were very helpful and nice. - The lawn/beach/picnic area is beautiful and would be perfect for lawn games.

Love the concept of stay and play. Nancy loves playing on that course. We love the campground, stayed two days this year. Logan Lake is a beautiful place, thank you for great hospitality.
Tim M — Google review
This is the only golf course in Logan Lake. I thought the course was in great shape for a small town course. There are 9 holes that make up a proper full and challenging round. The greens are a little bumpy and slower than a big course. The course is hilly, so consider a power cart. The green fees and cart prices are a bargain. The kitchen has been improved since COVID. We had coffee and a full breakfast for about $12. It was good. 2 eggs, sausage, toast with grilled potatoes. The staff are friendly and the course isn't crowded. It was good fun.
Brent K — Google review
The staff at the clubhouse is excellent. I stopped by to have breakfast. The food is excellent as well.

We had a wonderful time celebrating my husband's 40th with a mini fun tournament at Meadow Creek. Janet is fabulous to work with, so helpful and provided so much guidance in the set up and structure to make for such a great day. The entire group ended up coming back to do the back nine since they enjoyed the course so much. Challenging enough for the experienced but welcoming enough to make the beginner feel comfortable.
Melissa G — Google review
Had to start late due to signing in and then my party was hassled by the club head for grouping up more than 4 people claiming that it makes us slower while other groups had more people than 4 but were left alone. The guy hassled us on more than three occasions within the first hour even bragging about how he called the cops on a group last week and by the time everyone’s mood was ruined and members of my group were arguing with staff they had called the police on us. Even the responding office was surprised that he got called for such a childish reason. Side note is that one of our members complained to him that her daughter is special needs and has never golfed to which he claimed she should be wearing a sign saying that she is special needs
Killercheese259 — Google review
A challenging 9 hole game to start the season. The course is hilly at the beginning with water at the end. Watch out for Meadow Creek .
Neih H — Google review
NICE COURSE, DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE. Course is very nice, but some members of the staff are so unbelievably rude. As I see on another review it seems like the same women. Within our party we had 3 T times, our second time we were loading our clubs into the carts 2 minutes past our T time while the T off area was not clear yet, and this woman comes out yelling and acting very rude and condescending. They booked their T times too close together and tried to make us feel like it was our fault. The staff makes visitors and amateur golfers feel very unwelcomed. It takes 10 minutes to pay and check in and then they get angry because you're falling behind, then they do not give you maps or score cards, you have to find them yourself, but she had no issue yelling and screaming about how we should know where to go because theres a map and we should have had one. I've golfed here many times and was excited to bring our family and while the course is beautiful and very enjoyable, the staff put a very big damper on the start of our game. I will say though, I believe it was the new training women, helped us as we were finishing and she was quite friendly, which was refreshing because we were bracing for the worst.

The campground is very open and has nice sites. The lake views are beautiful but is not a swimming lake Fishing was not a go at all We got one nibble on a week worth of fishing. Someone else caught 2 other wise people have said that they normally catch up to 25 a day but that was 2 weeks ago.It is colder up there and some times very windy. Great for kids to ride bikes, but no playground. I think they should add that. They have the best out houses ever, very clean and no odour.Very clean campground.$18.00 dollars a night nice size camping sites and fire pits. The staff there is very nice.We would go back a go earlier in the season like July.

Big shout out for Doug and Susan for looking after my boat when I experienced mechanical issues with my camper van back in July. I have been coming up to Tunkwa for years, each time knowing that the facilities will always be clean and well supplied. The service they provide is akin to having my own concierge service while camping off the grid. Because of Doug and Susan I will keep coming back and have recommended it to family and friends!

A beautiful provincial park with lots of spaces (266) many of them right on the lake. When we first drove in we thought, wow lots of people, but we kept driving and found lots of empty campsites away from the crowds. Lots of wildlife around especially yellow-bellied mamots and chipmonks.

Lac Le Jeune is a serene and magical location, perfect for corporate retreats or a relaxing getaway with friends. The resort offers luxurious accommodations and delicious food, while the provincial park campground provides clean and quiet surroundings with ample space for picnics and outdoor activities. The lake itself is beautiful and calm, ideal for swimming, canoeing, or paddle boarding. However, visitors should be cautious of fast-moving boats creating large waves near swimmers and kayakers.
Beautiful lake for kayaking or paddleboarding! First time ever here and had a great time. Lots of swimming, sandy beach area although rocky water. Picnic areas are great, especially if you can get one with some shade

Had a great Hawaiian pizza at the marina yesterday. The sauce is similar to Red Tomato in Kamloops really good!! We will be going back for another before the season is over. They are making some improvements and with this great weather great place for locals to enjoy!

We rented a pontoon boat from Bruker Marina, and had so much fun with it. They delivered it to another lake for us which was great because it cut out a lot of work for us. It arrived on time and ran great for the week we had it. There was a concern with the quoted price to what we were charged, but Kerry honoured the lower price without any problem and we thank him for that. A great place to deal with and hope to be back next year to rent from them again.

Park
Kenna Cartwright Nature Park is a vast, year-round park with picturesque trails suitable for hiking, cycling, and snowshoeing. It boasts over 40 kilometers of gentle paths and is the largest municipal park in the province. The park offers a variety of trails, from easy to challenging, including wheelchair-accessible options. One of its highlights is the Tower Trail, a family-friendly 3.4-kilometer hike with stunning city views from a viewing platform at the top.
Trail is well maintain! Our dog love it. We walked in black diamond trail and its doable if you walked alot before. Nice view in the top! Free parking, toilet pit in the area, there is a bike repair station near in the parking lot. There is a lot of trail in the area too.
Adette B — Google review
There are quite a few trails here. Most are steep so be ready to go up. The view from the top was great and I felt a good sense of accomplishment when I made it up. We took the main viewpoint trail. It took about 1 hour to go up, hang out a bit at the top, then go down. I would not take my kids. They would have complained a lot. It is all up! There was parking, it was easy to find, there was a bathroom and garbage can at the base of the trail and this was a good trail to try if you are looking for a good little hike and aren’t from town - it was easy to find and it is well marked, you won’t get lost.
Lyndsay A — Google review
A great walk with stunning views. You can choose your difficulty level. Watch out for trail bikes coming down. Easiest way was to park off hillside. Beautiful views.
Kimberly C — Google review
Lovely short and quiet hike. Trail was well kept. You get beautiful views of the town & the surrounding mountains. If you have time to spare, definitely come explore this place. Tower trail goes straight up btw.
Raheel K — Google review
Some very challenging hiking trails. Make sure you bring loads of water and a wide brimmed hat, because shade can be scarce. Some parts of the trail were quiet, mostly you could hear the highways.
Cam M — Google review
Kenna Cartwright Nature Park is a gem for anyone into hiking, biking, or just soaking up views. The trail network is huge, with options for all skill levels, and the scenery — especially at sunset — is unreal. You get panoramic views of Kamloops, the rivers, and even Kamloops Lake from some spots. It’s dog-friendly too, which is a bonus. Downsides? Some trails are poorly marked, so it’s easy to get turned around if you’re new. Also, parts of the park are pretty exposed, so bring water and sun protection. Still, it’s one of the best places in Kamloops to get outside and feel like you’re miles away from the city.
Riya S — Google review
This is the place to hike if you want an all-encompassing view of Kamloops from above. The trail doubles as a service road to the cellular towers on top of the mountain. Thus it is wide, smooth, and impossible to veer off course. The trail is very short but the gradient is steep all the way up the mountain. It's a hike that promises great rewards for little time and effort. Highly recommended.

Great service at Match in Kamloops by Ashlee R. She went above and beyond and was very attentive to us. Great food. Floor Manager was also very nice, didn't get her name.

So disappointing. Was in town for a wedding, decided to end the night at the casino. A couple groups of us went, the second group arrived at 120am. Approached the bar & was told last call was done at 130am. Started ordering for the group, got bounced to a different bartender bc one wanted to cash out, pass on the order and then was told sorry, cant serve you anymore its 130am. It was implied that they wanted to avoid more work for themselves. Tried a couple slot machines after and both smelled like spoiled food. Bizarre experience. Kamloops is cool though.

While playing poker, the dealer made a mistake and gave the turn to one of the guys he knew from before. That player took advantage of being the last to act and raised, even though he should have been the first to check or raise. We noticed the mistake, and the dealer admitted it was his fault, but no one did anything about it. The dealer was also shuffling the cards by hand, which is unusual since other casinos use machines for that. This is the worst casino I’ve ever been to.

Nestled in the heart of Kamloops, British Columbia, McArthur Island Park is a sprawling green oasis that beckons both locals and travelers to indulge in outdoor activities. Spanning over 51 hectares on McArthur Island along the North Thompson River, this park is a vibrant hub for sports enthusiasts and families alike. With its well-maintained baseball and soccer fields, as well as a skate park for thrill-seekers, there's no shortage of ways to stay active.
All parks should be 5 ⭐️ especially this one. Absolutely beautiful park on an island on the Thompson River. Great paved trail that completely circles the entire park. It’s about 3 km. There is lots of parking available and public washrooms also. Lots of green spaces. Lots of benches but no picnic tables. The park supports multiple sports ⚽️ ⚾️🏒🏏🛹🚴‍♂️🥏 also mini golf. Lots of wildlife 🦆🪿🦉🦇🐿️

Beautiful park for baseball and other activities. As we were there for a baseball tournament (considered an "event") so we were allowed to camp there at a cost of $16.50/night. Lovely facilities with a beautiful 3.2km path along the perimeter of the island. Washrooms and garbage kept up nicely.

It's an island not a park. The design of the park is good. There are a few big sport fields around the road. If you are a visitor, you may drive a little half round of this island. There are many parking and washroom along the road. We go there in the late evening so we didn't see any wild life. If you have time, I think there are a good trail goes around the whole island. I see people using bikes to stroll around. It may take some time for a round stroll.

Great location for sports. We've attended the BC youth rugby 7s tournament here the last 4 years. Super jealous that Kelowna doesn't have anything comparable. No wonder they call themselves the tournament capital! Good job, Kamloops:)

This park’s a full-on activity hub. You’ve got soccer fields, baseball diamonds, a skatepark, disc golf, and even a big indoor sports centre. I liked the 3.1 km paved loop — great for walking or rollerblading, and it passes through some peaceful riparian areas with birdwatching spots. It’s family-friendly and well-maintained, with lots of free parking. Downsides? No dogs allowed, which might be a dealbreaker for some, and it can feel a bit too busy during tournaments or summer weekends. Some areas could use more shade or seating. Still, it’s one of the most versatile parks in town.

Friendly staff, and the restaurant has good food. Lovely lake, great fishing. Their tap/drinking water comes from the lake, and tastes of fish and swamp. The coffee and tea are affected as well. Next visit I will bring more of my own water!

Best fishing lake in BC. You need a boat because there are few places to wade and trees stop you from shore casting. In May/June you can't miss with trolls, flys, or bait. Provincial sites are fine and they have a nice boat launch but it is way better if you can get into one of the sites at the resort. $30/night/site gives you a pool, store, hot showers. Great quad trails nearby and lots of smaller lakes to explore. I do a week every year plus a couple of weekends if I can make it work.
Brad M — Google review
Wonderful facilities and fishing. UPDATE: Park Operators, Barry and Paul, are excellent for the 2023 season. I have never seen the park look so well kept, have been attending Roche Provincial for 15+ years.

My favorite medium sized lake in BC. So many amazing fishing trips here. For me it really is a World Class Fly Fishing Lake!! The sites do not get raked and the fire pits do not get emptied. When I PAY for a site I like it to start like I leave it...... CLEAN. With that said there is toilet paper in the outhouses and they pick up the bear proof garbage and your money without fail.
Jay E — Google review
Some of the best lakes in the region for fly fishing. Roche, Black, Horseshoe, all fished very well, but Frisken was slow and high algae bloom with few fish this season. Large open campsites, but very busy. Resort is nice with reasonably good food in their restaurant, and lots of boats to rent.

Riverside Park in Kamloops, British Columbia is a picturesque green space located along the Thompson River. It offers a variety of outdoor activities and amenities for visitors to enjoy. The park features a sandy public river beach, perfect for swimming and relaxing by the water. Additionally, there are recreation paths that wind through the park, providing opportunities for leisurely strolls or bike rides.
This is a really nice riverside park. It should be very popular for locals in summer. The new water park is great for kids. If you bring kids make sure you bring the swim suits, they can enjoy the water park in hot summer. There are many tables and benches in shady area. The beach is beautiful with the sunset too. It's good for the whole family have fun and walk there no matter you are locals or visitors. The parking lot is big and free after 5pm. A park you should go for a walk.

Riverside Park in Kamloops is a beautiful riverside spot with walking trails, playgrounds, and a splash pad—perfect for families. The views of the Thompson Rivers are stunning, and summer concerts add a lively vibe. Parking can get busy, and shade is limited in some areas. Overall, a clean, relaxing park worth visiting — I’d rate it 4/5 stars.

A beauty of a park for everyone. We visited the park early September. There are many large old trees to sit under for shade from the hot sun, its close by the river and has a long walking path alongside it. I was told there is live entertainment each evening during July and August.

Awesome place to play, watch and have fun in the splash park. They have an updated playground that is wheelchair accessible. The water park is so much fun. We stayed and watched the sunset. It was beautiful. Would definitely come back

Excellent amenities, busy with lots going on, this is a great gathering place. Great people watching, lots of entertainment, and a lot of shade on hot summer days. There was even a concert when I was there on a Thursday! There is a water park, limited parking, a swimming beach area that is sectioned off so it is a safe place to swim in the river, paved trails and much more.

Scenic Railroads
The Kamloops Heritage Railway is a popular attraction that features the Canadian National Railway #2141, known as the Spirit of Kamloops. This 108-year-old steam engine has a rich history, originally used for passenger transport and later for hauling logs in British Columbia. The railway offers guided tours of the Backshop and operates five historic train cars, with ongoing restoration efforts for a sixth car.
The city of Kamloops has played an intermediary role connecting Canadian Pacific and Canadian Natural thus connecting the East to the West. This Railways have played a huge role here in this city’s development and history. As someone from Calgary where Railway also played a great role and I love learning the rail history, this one an intriguing place to visit to know more. The staffs are genuinely some of the nicest people around and are so eager to teach about history of the trains. There are many actual trains and although some are retired, some still operate and you will see some rare snow plower trains here too which you can get inside of. There is also miniature trains and a city map inside the train like a museum. You can get inside some of these trains and learn how they communicated in the old days without radio and how they operated these mechanical machines. This is a must visit place for train and history lovers

We went there at the end of June, 2019. Checked in advance if they would be open at that time, and they said yes. In spite of this , everything was closed :( Anyway I liked Kamloops a lot. Nice people, kind of exciting atmosphere . I hope I will have the possibility to go back there, and then I will doublecheck the timing with the Heritage Railway;)

This is the home for the #2141 Spirit of Kamloops steam locomotive. This train has been lovingly restored and has her original bell, whistle and name plate as well as authentic coaches, caboose, open air cars amd a cafe lounge railcar. The KHR, since going static, has turned their workshop into a museum. This museum, at the end of Pioneer Park, features exhibits on the #2141, Kamloops railway history and the story of our volunteers on their journey to restore a 115 year old steam locomotive. The KHR offers tours that offer an intimate look into the history of the 2141, often missed Kamloops railway history and the history of those who worked the rails. I would highly recommend this tour for train buffs and families alike. Child and family friendly. They are always looking for volunteers to help keep the dream of alive. Steam back into history!

It was closed, i'm assuming it's because of the covid restrictions still, so I can't give it a 5 star rating as if yet.Too bad, but you can still see some of the site behind the fence on the public pathways.

One of the must see and do things when in Kamloops. The train inside out takes you to a time 100 years ago. Purely driven by volunteers this is a piece of history that everyone needs to get a taste of when in Kamloops.

Your ticket on the Kamloops Heritage Railway is like buying a ticket back in time! It was so interesting learning about this trains history and how it operates. The most interesting fact was that everyone but three folks on this train were volunteers! The folks helping guests on the train, entertaining, and informing them are all giving up their time for the love of preserving this history and sharing it.
