A jungle in Alberta!? They have an untouched part of land that they showcase what a lot of Alberta would have looked like before it was cleared for agriculture. We came here with a school group and I was impressed with the organization and informational leading. We came with kids of varying ages, quite a few toddlers with short attention spans, and the staff did a great job making the sessions short but educational. With pit stops for strawberries and pumpkin picking, this was a fun element to include as we toured the farm. The wide variety of pumpkins and squ-umpkins(squash pumpkins) was so cool! The kids do course had an absolute blast on all the climbing structures and the grassy slide hill. Is adults even gave it a go! My youngest adored the tractor wagon ride and the staff were really good making sure everyone was safe around the farm equipment. The u-pick is massive and picking fall strawberries was a first for me! They were so sweet and good. They also sampled us some kohlrabi, which the kids didn’t like but it definitely was a first time for them trying such an interesting veggie( for those of you that are wondering it’s got a texture on the inside similar to an apple or a potato, and a flavour combo of a broccoli and cauliflower). The little market store had a variety of goods, jams, pickled things, and toys. The bathroom situation is probably the only downside with two porta potties…but at least there are bathrooms available.

Great experience picking strawberries. My 2 year old daughter just loved it . The strawberries were the best I have ever had . Some of the juiciest and sweetest. It’s an hours drive from Calgary just before red deer . You could get updates on u picks and availability from their facebook page. They are pretty good at giving updates and up to date information . Would definitely recommend
Aziz C — Google review
Very tasty strawberries. This year they are not like last year because of the rains, they are more watery and spoil faster, but they are still much tastier than in stores. The smell is yum yum. The only minus is that there is no place to wash your hands after digging potatoes or picking other berries and vegetables... I also recommend trying their jam 🫶🏻
Tatiana L — Google review
we had a great time here today. Straberries are sweet and smell good!
Thanh P — Google review
Awesome strawberry picking experience with affordable price. You will get a guide to show you how to pick good and juicy strawberries. Only 25$ for 5lb strawberries. You can also get strawberry cakes and jams from the store. Kids can enjoy their time here with play structures . Really amazing place.

Had an amazing experience at Jungle Farm! I did the summer baby program with my 11 month old and it was so much fun. It was very well organized and I liked that each week was different. All the fruit and veggies were so fresh and delicious. It was also my first time picking veggies/strawberries and I really enjoyed it.
Brittany S — Google review
Beautiful fruits and veggies, very cool farm with a fun little old country store. The strawberries are bursting with flavour. The nectarines melt in your mouth. At least the ones I bought did. The cupcakes and whoopie pies are delicious. But… Big Tip to the owners, please train employees to not advise to leave wrongly brought dogs in their owners cars as that can lead to death which would put a damper on the whole experience. My bad and apologies for bringing my dog on Farm day, where she was fine at the other farms we’d visited (though none else were pick your own), and I have no problems that she was not allowed in. We (doggy and I) had fun in the extra parking lot field waiting for the rest of our family and running through the grass. But being told to leave dog in the car on a hot summers day was off putting, so please train employees to address such situations in a less deadly manner for the animal.
HAA — Google review
We went on a field trip to Jungle Farms with Jelibean Daycare and it was a wonderful experience! Leona was fantastic, she took everyone on a tour of the farm and had wonderful stories and learning opportunities for the kids. And the U-Pick is also awesome, the strawberries are delicious 👌

Sylvan Lake Aqua Splash is a summer favorite for kids and adults alike with its 15-foot slide, climbing wall, trapeze swing, and monkey swing bars. There's also a beautiful lake to splash around in and plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained.
We visit this place every summer and have a blast! So much fun for kids and adults. Be prepared to fall multiple times into the lake!

I hope the team can do something on the walking segment before swim to aqua splash , there is a space to be extended by 3 more segment so that short swimming esp for 6 years old kid, we went today my 6 years old shivering due to cold n we called for help n rescue boat came, unfortunately the company policy is only to rescue seriously injured guest .By shortening the area for swimming and make it longer the walking segment will help many kids n adult with fatigue issue after spending couple of hours on it . 0n swimming back it is difficult for many adult to get ourself up as it has no place to step foot , highly suggest to add the foot step as the tiredness really make us adult has difficulty to climb without any stair n was lucky got a lady hell to pull me up .

My Kiddo really enjoyed the facility, my and I tried similar splash park at Harrisons hotspring, but at Sylvan Lake, kiddo swam from the entry all the way till the aqua park, great endurance . Kudos to staff.

It’s extremely fun and exciting for everyone. On a hot burning day, nothing will feel more relaxing and exhausting than splashing around in a cool waters of sylvan lake. It is crazy busy and very popular for summer excursions. The beach is also right there and available to relax on. Food trucks are in the parking lot and they offer delicious options.
Douglas N — Google review
One of the best outdoor waterpark in Alberta! It’s our 2nd time coming for this one and we always have best time! We only booked for one hour and thats long enough for my daughter as it can get you really tired( unless you’re really fit and lots of endurance Id say) once you fall in the water then trying to get back on the raft is a little struggle for us. Lol.🤣other than that, the obstacles are really fun!
Bianca P — Google review
Its a fun activity but it gets quite crowded. There's no limit to how many people they allow on the inflatables other than if they run out of life jackets. We went out for an hour and there was a section of the inflatables that we couldn't go on because there were to many people standing around in that section.
Charlene R — Google review
Before I begin, let me just say that the staff were awesome. Lovely young people. We were not allowed to wear our 3/4 wetsuits. I have VERY tiny little girls, and they get super cold. We live in Sylvan and wear wetsuits all the time at the lake. Which, by the way, are very buoyant. Then we got out on the wibit, and it was insane with people. Cheek to Jowl. It was absolutely horrible. They clearly are letting every person on to make money, and have zero consideration for safety or comfort. We left immediately. As they allowed another 20 people on the wibit. 10/10 do not recommend until they change their standards. I bet it's super fun when it's not overloaded with people.

Discovery Wildlife Park & Campground

Mentioned on

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Discovery Wildlife Park & Campground offers a unique overnight experience, making it the only zoo in Alberta where you can sleep among the animals. Imagine falling asleep to the sounds of roaring lions and howling wolves! The park is well-equipped with amenities like car rentals, washrooms, tent sites, and cozy cabin rentals for a comfortable stay. Families love spending time here; many enjoy fishing or exploring the animal exhibits while renting golf carts for added fun.
Amazing day out with the kids, the bear show was excellent. I am Canadian but I have been living in Australia and it was so fun to show my Australian kids all of our native Canadian wildlife up close! Also they had reasonably priced golf cart rentals for my elderly grandma so she didn’t have to walk all the way around the park. Definitely recommend!
Chynna T — Google review
Excellent place. Well maintained and landscaped. Friendly staff, knowledgeable, and happy to help. The animals seem happy, well provided for. There are golf carts available if mobility is an issue. The paths around the enclosures are well thought out. Where else can you safely get 3 feet from a grizzly? Highly recommended.
Russ H — Google review
If you have a passion for animals, this is definitely a place worth visiting. The facilities are kept clean and well-maintained, which enhances the experience. I really appreciate the interactions between the animals like the bears, lions, and wolves and their caretakers. It’s a fantastic spot to take your kids and teach them about the importance of caring for animals. I highly recommend it!
GINA S — Google review
It's really a good place to visit. We enjoyed camping and roaming around to see the wild life animals. There is also a bear presentation. So nice! 😉 My whole family enjoyed our 2 nights stay. 💚🌱 The washroom and showers are super clean. Cleaner than hotels😁 We will definitely comeback here. I reschedule our stay here 3 times, they didn't charge us. They are so kind unlike in the other campsite that needs a fee to reschedule it. 🌱
Kate L — Google review
Always a great experience. Team is very knowledgeable. The facility is so clean the wildlife are cared for in such a humane way. Everytime we have gone the keepers are always ensuring the enclosures are spotless. It is a wonderful spot for all ages. Skip the zoo and support a local community you wont regret it. Golf carts are available for ease especially for those who have a harder time walking longer distances. Pack a lunch and spend the day, or pop by the concession for a snack.
Kim L — Google review
Price quite high but beautiful park, many animals in small enclosures despite all the extra un-used land for humans to walk around in. Lots of space for kids to run and play. Very tired and sad looking g animals. Honestly though, they looked very tired or highly lol . Also felt bad for one man lost his 2$ and the poor deer heard the coin go in and waited for over an hour for the treats to come out! Such a tease. So sad. Told 4 staff and not one went to fill the treats. Also this was before noon, so …. Not cool. Would love to see more going I. I. This great place, hire a pro facepainter, sell balloons or hire a balloon clown, so much potential here. Please make the fences larger and help the animals feel more happy/awake ? Many animals stuck to the camp side of fence so was hard to see those ones . Such as camel and lamas… lived the art and nice gift shop. The reptiles should not be I. There first tho g people see who have a huge fear. Should have a more separate area for those types, such as Yyc zoo has.
Lauren — Google review
Overall the site is nice. I would recommend the wildlife park. They have friendly staff, lots to see and you can get fairly close to the animals. Some of the staff work both sides (Wildlife park and campsite). For me I felt that the campsite staff truly did not care about our experience while staying for two nights. We did change our reservation a night before to a cabin, and I was happy that they took the time to do that… but what they didn’t tell us was that there were 5 families using that site for tenting. They crammed us in regardless and they took our full payment for a 6 person cabin stay- even though we had a 4 person cabin (an older version not shown on the website). I asked where we could set up our fire bowl and they said that we have the patch of grass in front of the cabin. Very tight. The next day the large group left so we were able to take advantage of the normal space we would of had. A lot of people left that day so we were enjoying the space. The negative is that because of the lack of people at the campsite, they locked up more of the facilities we had access to. Instead of two washrooms we had one. Same with the showers. Only one was available instead of 4. I feel like they were saving time and effort to clean them, but given there still were campers at the site, people were just having to wait in line. I would recommend staying on a weekday. Weekends are just crammed with people and camp sites are too close together. There isn’t much to do other than fish in the pond, so if you’re not there to see the wildlife, take your business to a real campsite. There is not forest to explore, no open fires (even for cooking) and you have to bring your own water ( or pay a fee). I spend over $400 for two nights. I didn’t see the value for what we experienced.
Victor M — Google review
A must stop. This place was cool. Some walking involved. Rest stops and coverage along the way if it rains. You can rent a golf cart if needed. $20 an hour to rent. Staff were informative and friendly. The main building and bathrooms are in good condition and clean. You get to get pretty close to the animals. There’s even Dino’s along the walk as well as play structures.

Incredible free small garden/park at Olds College, lots of plants and flowers, birds, ponds, and paved paths to walk through it all. Quite peaceful, there was no one else here when I visited on a Saturday afternoon. Highly recommended if you are in Olds.

Worth the stop. A nice little walk lots of animals and a cool little micro brewery to stop at after the walk

Let's be clear, this isn't Disney land but it is a nice 20min walk in a quiet setting with interesting plants and trees to look at. Be patient finding the parking lot, the signage isn't that clear but if you turn right in front the main gate to the garden you'll hit the lot.

I was traveling through town and stopped to walk my dogs at the campus since it was a holiday and closed. Didn't expect the gardens and it was a lovely find

This is truly a hidden gem! It is a gorgeous place for a walk, and the grounds are kept in immaculate condition. There are both paved and gravel paths, with lots of little bridges to cross over. Takes 25-30 minutes to walk through it all. Just a beautiful spot to check out!

Beautiful property to explore, with many buildings and exhibits. Very friendly staff in the charming gift store and restaurant.

A beautiful country property with a little mermaid in the pond and adorable mini Danish church. The grounds are so well kept. The cafe food was authentic and so good! Totally worth the drive. We had 4 x sandwiches and 3 desserts. All of it was fantastic. The gift shop had Danish candies and treats, as well as various Danish collectibles for Xmas etc. The staff were so friendly! 10/10 recommend.

I attend the aebleskiver event every year with my danish family (we do a family reunion each year) and it’s such a great event every year. My great grandmothers stuff is in the museum which is rotated for display. I love the historical buildings and garden. I honestly hope this place is around forever and I will always support them. My baby loved the food haha
Ashleigh — Google review
A great place to spend an hour or two and learn about Danish history. PS. This is un update after our 4th visit. We attended the "Viking Days" event in August. It was a blast! Great experiences, awesome people, absolutely loved it! A big thank you to all the involved in running and managing this site
Andrey K — Google review
A walking active health hazard, don’t get me wrong the exhibits are interesting enough it’s the safety is the question, I remember being in the basement and seeing multiple dead mice around were the food is stored, speaking of the basement it’s like Chernobyl down there, so many cob webs mold and dead things it will actually make you wanna hurl, another thing I should point out is that some of the older buildings like the CPR and Thompson house have a mold problem I remember cleaning them out and the smell was like a brick wall, couldn’t walk 2 feet without gagging not even sure all of it was taken care of. So yea I wouldn’t visit or eat at this place unless you want food poisoning or a trip to the ER
Zapper C — Google review
What a wonderful surprise this outdoor museum is! So calm and quiet and you can visit all the buildings at your own pace. The cafe on site is incredible with amazing traditional Danish food. They also have an adorable gift store where you can buy all sorts of Danish gifts and food products. A must try in central Alberta!!

We went to a Viking festival there. That was so fun. Then we wandered around and explored. It was fun looking for faces in the trees and folwing the stories of Hans Christian Anderson. The Viking ship and architecture made it a fun afternoon.

Where On Earth... Did You Get That? - Antique Mall & Vintage Marketplace

Antique store
Shopping
Collectibles store
What a gem! Aonibuaally drive out to nanton but over the years they sadly have less and less. But I still go and support. Today I was in town and seen the sign and did a hard turn to go check em out. Massive inventory. Extremely easy to see and look at the pieces. Super fair prices which for how much rent now a days, is that's kinda amazing in itself Imo. Got a silver square tray with little small legs as a plant holder. And a nice vintage Canmore book, Sorry of an era. Anywho. Great staff and side note but kinda says a lot. It smells really nice in there I know that sounds funny but if you do a lot of antique hunting, that's just not something that go together. Will be back in with my wife again soon. Thanks again. MB

Visited today and the selection they had was impeccable. Very well curated and the staff are so pleasant! Will definitely return. Well worth the trip from Calgary!
Tara S — Google review
Love this shop! Lots of antique, retro and vintage stuff. Found a garfield which was my goal this holiday! They have toilets and the shopkeepers were helpful and friendly!

Fantastic store if you have some money to spend on collectables. You can find about anything here. Would give 5* but I'm knocking a couple stars off for the staff member that was watching us, pretty sure she though we were stealing because we don't look the the usual clientele. If you have a worry about theft, a security guard should be in place.
Michael G — Google review
I love this store and the family that runs it! Friendly, helpful, and so much fun to find wonderful treasures. Excellent and always changing items! If you like something, get it. Follow them on social for fun stories and neat fresh items. Update: still awesome, and still full of treasures!
Shanyn S — Google review
I have been to this mall several times and have bought some beer related collectibles and some LPs. Most of the staff has been quite pleasant. But the person I'm assuming is the manager "as I never see him interact with customers" has given me some pretty contentious looks. So I will never set foot in there again.....I'm sure you don't need or want my business and I can find over priced vinyl anywhere.....
Peter P — Google review
Where On Earth... Antique Mall and Vintage Market is a treasure hunter’s dream! This place has an incredible variety of antiques, collectibles, vintage finds, and so much more—no matter what you're looking for, you’re bound to find something unique. The selection is always changing, which makes every visit exciting. The prices are fair, and you can find great deals on one-of-a-kind items. It’s clear that the vendors take pride in their collections, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Saturdays can get pretty busy, and the parking lot fills up quickly, so arriving early is a good idea. But even with the crowds, the experience is well worth it. Plus, they have food available, which is a nice touch when you want to take a break from browsing. If you love antiques, vintage goods, or just exploring a fascinating variety of items, this is the perfect spot. Highly recommended!

TELUS Spark Science Centre in Calgary offers an immersive experience with interactive museum exhibits, a children's play area, and an HD planetarium theatre. One of its highlights is the digital immersion gallery featuring an exhibit on quantum physics, turning this complex subject into a visually captivating adventure for all visitors. The center also provides stunning views of the city and opportunities for romantic moments in downtown Calgary.
Attended the Mother's Day Brunch, and it was terrific. There was a great spread with tons of options for the whole family. Very delicious. There were activities for the kids inside the room, allowing us to enjoy our meal while live shows entertained them. We also loved the photo booth and bead bracelet station. We'll do this again next year.

This is around my 3rd time going to Telus Spark and my thoughts are now Confirmed, I had went to the Infinity Dome, The Snack Shop, and others! The Snack Shop had some cool stuff to eat but some were a bit… overpriced. But the movie, Me and my Friend-group went to watch Hazelnuts (A 25 Minute Animated Show) Then we explored the Areas (I had initially forgotten the category names) We tried the Bed with nails (It was more uncomfortable than Scary, My friend said “I did it with out the pillow do not recommend”) They also have a Sensory test, where they have you taste gummy bears and ask you questions on what you taste! And there was a Booth where you take photos! (Doesn’t Print it out) but since I don’t remember if it has a name or not, I’ll be calling it the “Digital Photo Machine”

Visited on a Friday. Despite some good reviews, not worth the cost. So many of the activities and exhibits were "closed for repair " or simply closed with no explanation. (Photos of some of many that were closed. The VR zone sould have been open when we were there. We were told it was closed and summarily dismissed. ) Plenty of staff around who were uninterested in engaging with clients. The displays that were functional were unimpressive. The cafeteria wouldn't serve us at 2pm although it said it was open until 3pm. The toilets were filthy. The toddler toilet was "closed for repair". Handicap buttons for doors were worn so that identification paint wasn't visible. Doubtful this place could pass a fire inspection. I recommend the zoo or Heritage Park or Bell Media Centre. This place needs an overhaul of its management, board of directors, and basic priorities.
Carl — Google review
We had such a fantastic time at the Telus Spark Science Centre! This place is truly a five-star experience, thoughtfully designed with something for everyone, regardless of age or ability. It's the perfect blend of a science center and a children's museum, making it ideal for toddlers and young kids. The Creative Kids Museum was a definite highlight. It felt like a traditional children's museum with all the climbing spaces and water feature area you'd expect, but with a clever scientific twist. We especially loved the simple machines with adjustable ramps and the building tubes. They even had a soft play area for non-walkers, which was a huge plus. We also really enjoyed the opportunity to use a tool to cut cardboard—it was a unique and engaging activity. Even though a few spaces were closed for updates, we honestly didn't feel like we were missing a thing. There was still so much to see and do that we didn't get to explore everything! We saw a live demonstration and got to work in Steven's Lab, a hands-on opportunity to tinker and form scientific hypotheses. There was so much to do, I actually felt bad having to pull my daughter away to try and see as much as we could before nap time. The outdoor space was another highlight. It offered a great chance for kids to run, jump, and explore in a different environment. We went on a great day—it wasn't packed, though I imagine it might be during holidays or later in the school year with school trips. I even declared to my husband that if we lived in Calgary, I would get a membership. There is just so much to see and do here that it's worth coming back for again and again. Overall, Telus Spark is a must-visit. It's an incredibly well-designed space that seamlessly combines fun and learning.

Seems to have a lot of very outdated areas and ideas. Could make this centre so much more interesting and engaging. It was pretty much boring chaos. Telus spend some money on this centre ! Make it fun and more relevant. Wld not go back or bring out of town visitors. They do have a few interesting areas but Very expensive for a subpar experience. So many kids touching everything which is great but few sanitizing stations. Bring your own. Some instructions difficult to figure out or area is too basic to be interesting or learn something or too complex with no assistance or the area is not working at all. The computer 'take apart ' area had no small tools to take them apart only 3 huge screwdrivers that fit nothing. No instruction of what to do or what the parts were. Kids were prying and stabbing at the boards with the large screwdrivers! The whole area was a disaster of pieces. Several other areas were out of order. The welding kept jumping back to the computer to reload. Staff not available to help reset. VR had one person setting up for 4 ppl. It took at least 5 min to attached everything and prob 5 to take away items after, sanitize them and get next group for a experience that was 3 min long. Such a long wait >45 min for a 3 min experience. Did see a show. It was OK. Theatre itself is nice. The robodog was the hit. Bed of nails and the toilet. 3 things really. Disappointing for the cost for 2 people. Yes parking is 12$ no choices. Not walkable from the LRT. Wanted it to be fun 😏

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, established in 1929, is a renowned zoo and park located on a 125-acre facility. It houses over 4,000 animals from more than 100 species and is celebrated for its exceptional animal care and habitat design. With an annual influx of over 1.3 million visitors, the institute aims to educate and inspire guests about wildlife conservation.
Had a wonderful time at the Calgary Zoo! The layout is great, lots of animals to see, and the whole place is really well maintained. It was a super hot day when we visited, so I totally understand that the polar bear was probably chilling indoors with the A/C — though I was a little bummed to miss seeing it. That aside, it was still a fantastic experience — from the playful lemurs to the majestic tigers, there was so much to enjoy. Definitely a must-visit if you're in Calgary, and maybe I’ll catch the polar bear next time when it’s not sunbathing weather!

Had an amazing time at the zoo! The staff were friendly and helpful, and we appreciated how clean and well-maintained everything was. There were also plenty of places to take a break, grab a snack, and just enjoy the surroundings. Washroom available in every area. The staff and volunteers are incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to answer questions or share insights about the animals. The exhibits are engaging and informative, making it a great experience for kids and adults alike. I would highly recommend for any age.

Great way to spend your day. Lots of parking fast lines, lots of animals. Most were pretty sleepy while we were there, except the wolves who were prancing around and coming right up to the glass. Tickets are cheaper if bought in advance. I took way too many photos and had a lovely day.

I love visiting the Zoo with my kids. We have coming for over 20 years now. I started coming when I moved to Calgary over twenty years ago. I have enjoyed seeing all the animals. 20 years ago I loved seeing the kangoos and the elephants. When they had bats I didn't like the bats but that is my own phobia of bats I had since I was a child. I remember seeing the sloth back then and one of favorite animals The Kolas. We love ❤️ seeing the Pink Flamingos 💗 and is one of the first ones we go see now. We love the pandas. My son loves the komodoo dragons they are his favorite. We love the Zoo Christmas Lights. We love seeing the red pandas and Tigers and the various animals and birds and the butterfly exhibits when we go visit the zoo. We always enjoy seeing the animals ❤️. In my son's words it's a really cool experience.

The Calgary Zoo is one of the best family attractions we’ve visited! It’s well laid out, making it easy to explore different zones — from the African Savannah with giraffes and lions, to the Canadian Wilds where we saw bears and cougars up close. The Penguin Plunge was a highlight — the kids loved watching them swim and waddle right by the glass. Highlight was the Polar bear! What really makes the zoo special is how educational it is. Each section has interactive displays, conservation stories, and plenty of opportunities for kids (and adults!) to learn about wildlife and habitats. The grounds are beautifully kept, with shaded areas, rest stops, and a variety of food options, making it very family-friendly. We spent almost a whole day and still felt like there was more to see. It’s not just a zoo — it’s a mix of fun, learning, and adventure. A must-visit when in Calgary!

Amazing place for a family day out! We visited with kids and everyone had a great time. The grounds are very clean and well maintained, with lots of shade and beautifully designed animal enclosures. We were especially impressed by the penguins, tigers, and the dinosaur park — so realistic! My little one loved the kids’ zoo where you can feed the goats. Staff were friendly, and the café had a nice variety of food. A perfect spot to spend the whole day with family. We’ll definitely be back!
Yuliia K — Google review
The Zoo is always a great place to visit. However it is a seasonal place, even though they are open year round. We saw lots of animals, but Prehistoric Park was closed along with every food vendor and refreshment stand except for Kitamba Cafe which is an indoor restaurant. I understand this, but my suggestion would be to maybe open certain areas up, weather permitting, so that on the nicer days people still have an opportunity to experience as much as possible. Other than that, it was a great time.
Mikey D — Google review
Lots of construction throughout areas of the park. The only food location opened was by the gift shop, when exiting the zoo; every other food location was closed. Tickets should be discounted during this time. Parking was easy. Staff working in the gift shop were exceptionally friendly.

The Calgary Stampede is a renowned annual rodeo festival that takes place in a festival space hosting various shows, live music, entertainment, exhibits, and food stalls. This non-profit organization also offers year-round events like exhibitions, galas, concerts, conferences and rodeos. The festival aims to preserve western heritage and culture while engaging the community through youth initiatives and programs.
It is an amazing 10-day event that takes place every year in July!! It contains fair food, rides, exhibitions, concessions, and so much more! The preferred mode of transport to get to this event would be the c-train as it is much easier to get to and from the grounds to. Parking is available around the grounds. However, it is usually very full/busy and expensive as well. Although it is a super busy venue to attend, there is always something for everyone to do. The kids love the fair games, winning prizes and riding the endless selection of rides. I have attended since I was a child with my family, and it is something I look forward to every year. A "Calgarian tradition" for sure. A great place to spend a day or a few, there's a vast availability of fair foods such as corn dogs, corn, ice cream, fries, lemonade, and so much more!

It could have been just the time of your but it was really difficult to get to this event. Many of the streets were closed. We could not get an Uber anywhere. Could not get taxis. The facility itself was decent inside with a good selection of food. The seeding in the stands a bit tight in places didn't appear. It was built with adults with semi-limited ability to get in and out of the area.

Stampede is awesome! Coming for 2 years now and loving it. Such amazing human energy, concerts, and multitude of things to do. Cows, tanks, food, drinks, music, cowboy hats, gotta love it.
Vasily R — Google review
The main advice for everyone coming next year: make sure to grab an event map at the entrance. There are many free activities besides the Rodeo, but you won’t find them easily if you don’t know where and when they take place. The Stampede is always crowded, but it’s not only about the Rodeo and food.
Маrina D — Google review
If you haven't been to the Calgary Stampede, you need to go, at least once. Billed as The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth you'll want to take in the music (Country of course), food, drinks, rodeo, midway rides, and don't miss the Grandstand Show. No expense spared for the best fireworks display I've seen to end the show. Food wagon options include what you may expect at a fair. Some creative combo's along with the expected, such as a smoked Turkey Leg. (a bit pricey at 33.00). Be prepared for line ups and crowds. Advance purchase of admission tickets eliminates at least 1 line. You'll have a great time if you take in some of this 10 day event, and don't forget your Cowboy hat!
Rudy E — Google review
Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth..actually. The rides were so much fun and the showcases in the BMO Centre were awesome. The food stands around the Stampede were amazing but were highly expensive. Getting here was so bad via CTrain, it is so crowded that they couldn’t let people in because it was packed. It was also crowded in Stampede Park of course due to the tourist influx and because it was first day. It was so much fun exploring every inch of the park, one must go to the stampede at least once every time. Would I go back? Definitely. 8/10.

I loved the stampede! This was my first time attending, and it was wonderful! A little over crowded, and pricey but worth it in my eyes. You pay for what you get! We went to see what it was all about and had some food. We’ll be there again next year!

Prince's Island Park, located in the heart of Calgary, is a former sawmill site transformed into an urban oasis. It offers picnic areas, winding trails, and regular major events. The park features historical landmarks like the Deane House and River Cafe, as well as sculptures and art pieces. Visitors can enjoy recreational activities such as canoeing in summer and cross-country skiing in winter.
It's such a beautiful park. Flower arrangements were very creative. The trees are great. Kids' play structure is newer and a lot of fun. The new black squirrels were neat to see for the first time. Only down side was the men's washroom. Two of the toilets were completely disgusting. The place needs an upgrade badly.

Came here for Folk Fest and it did not disappoint! It is an amazing venue to hold such a popular festival. There are multiple stages with remarkably good sound systems and plenty of natural grass to sit on. The breeze from the river sure is welcome under the hot sun 🌞 There is a great big children's playground here that is quite popular. The benches around it are perfect for parents to sit at while letting their kids burn off their energy. In the Spring there are plenty of Canada geese that nest 🪺 and prepare their goslings for life outside the nest. With all of the natural beauty it is a great escape from the urban jungle just across the bridge.

Super nice quiet park in the heart of downtown. Lots of space, large trees, benches, flower gardens. With the river on both sides it really is a quiet area. Everyone at the park is doing the same thing - just enjoying. Can be super busy on summer weekends or holidays. So bicycling can be a slow process because of the crowds!

Excellent park with broad walkway, washrooms, great view of river and downtown, must visit this park if you are at peace bridge. You can even rent a neuron e bike/scooter to stroll around. Great place to spend a nice evening. Lots of picnic spots were available both shaded and unshaded. Public washrooms were at the River Cafe there is even a playground with lots of kids activity for kids to have fun. Highly recommended park in the heart of Calgary. Parking is mostly on streets on either side of the river. Check out the videos & imaged & follow for more detailed reviews.

Nice park, not far from downtown Calgary if you're on foot. It was cold and windy when we went there, but the parked seemed nice nonetheless. We saw many squirrels and there are beautiful flowers everywhere. Also a good spot to take some pictures of Bow River, but in a sunny day it must be much nicer.

I parked at the Crescent Heights scenic point and walked into the Prince’s Island Park via the connecting stairs. Pro: I did not need to worry about parking and could instead focus on how BEAUTIFUL the park was and how joyful the people were. Con: I had to walk up a gazillion stairs to get back to my car. Depending on your enthusiasm for cardio, this con can become your pro as I saw a bunch of people exercising by running up and down the stairs. I cannot relate. This may be an ignorant American viewpoint, but are Canadians just that much happier and healthier?? I went on a 2-mile (sorry I don’t know what that is in kilometers) walk around the park and not only did I see beautiful views, I also interacted with lovely people. There were many recreational enjoyers of the park and they took the time to look me in the eyes and smiled at me?? The camaraderie was off the charts. With that said, I feel for the homeowners who live right next to the park because they have to deal with very loud car pollution from the road (side facing Crescent Heights). While walking back to my car, I did have the thought that I should’ve brought my noise canceling headphones because it was so loud that I could not think. If the city of Calgary can invest in safer streets by converting that arterial road into bike and pedestrian paths instead, that would make the park experience that much better. It is my wishful thinking, and I think it could work since driving on that road didn’t seem all that stress-free either. It was clogged up with anxious drivers waiting to get the heck out of there, and it was where I heard the first loud horn during my stay in Canada.

Nice place to take a stroll. It is nice to see the park under every different seasons. You will appreciate to sit on a bench and read a nice book while enjoying the scenery. There is a cafe situated in the park if you want to enjoy a hot beverage. Squirrels and ducks will be your companion in your journey.

I visited this park during July end. The park is very beautiful and clean. The neighborhood is lovely. The park is on the banks of Bow River. Water is dark blue and looks very scenic. However, parking was limited. We went to the peace bridge, and even though it was under construction, the bridge looked beautiful.

Observation Decks & Towers
The Calgary Tower is a towering landmark offering breathtaking panoramic views from its glass-floored observation deck and revolving restaurant. Situated in the heart of downtown Calgary, it provides stunning vistas of the city's rivers, parks, and surrounding areas. The observation deck offers a 360-degree view of the bustling city, the majestic Rocky Mountains, foothills, and prairies. It's an ideal spot for a romantic evening or to pop the question with its spectacular views and vibrant atmosphere.
Visited the Calgary Tower Observatory while downtown, and the views from the top are fantastic — you can see the entire city and the mountains. The elevator ride is smooth and fast, and there’s plenty of space on the observation deck to walk around and take photos. The glass floor section is a fun addition if you’re feeling adventurous. The staff were friendly and helpful, though I do think tickets could be a bit cheaper for the experience. Overall, still a must-visit spot for anyone wanting a great perspective of Calgary.
Ian M — Google review
The Calgary Tower is a great way to get a full view of the city. The observation deck gives you a 360° look at Calgary and the Rocky Mountains on a clear day. The glass floor is a fun experience and makes for some great photos. The staff are friendly, and the elevator ride to the top is smooth and quick. The visit itself doesn’t take too long unless you plan to eat at the restaurant, but it’s still worth it for the views and the unique perspective of the city. Tickets are a little expensive for the short time you spend there, but it’s one of Calgary’s most iconic landmarks and a nice stop if you’re exploring downtown.
Fayaz K — Google review
Wow stunning views. And going at sunset is highly recommended! The mountains are a perfect with the sun setting behind them! Food was fantastic! It's so beautiful to see the lights of the city light up below! We went after a long day of travelling and sightseeing so we were casually dressed, but you can dress up super fancy too! It was great!
Denika D — Google review
My visit to the Calgary Tower during a day trip to Calgary was a memorable highlight, offering breathtaking 360-degree views of the city that truly showcased its charm. On a cloudless, sunny day, the conditions were ideal, revealing the distant Rocky Mountains and the urban expanse in stunning clarity. The observation deck, enriched with informative displays identifying key buildings, added an educational layer to the experience, making it both engaging and insightful. The ambiance was pleasant, and the tower stands as a notable tourist attraction in downtown Calgary, with a unique glass floor section that, while smaller than anticipated, provided a thrilling perspective. However, the experience was tempered by certain drawbacks. The tower, while iconic, shows signs of aging and is dwarfed by newer, taller skyscrapers, which slightly diminishes its grandeur The cost—approximately $75 for two, including parking and admission—a bit too steep. The viewing deck offers a decent panorama, but the surrounding skyline is less striking than expected. Overall, the Calgary Tower is well worth a visit for its unparalleled views and historical significance, particularly for first-time visitors to Calgary. Its combination of scenic beauty, informative displays, and cozy ambiance makes it a rewarding stop, best enjoyed on a clear day.
Jeremie M — Google review
Visiting Calgary Tower is a must for anyone coming to Calgary! The ride to the top is an amazing experience — the panoramic view of the city and the mountains on the horizon is truly breathtaking. Standing on the glass floor is especially thrilling — it takes your breath away, but it’s absolutely worth it! The staff are friendly and welcoming, and everything is well organized and efficient. The restaurant at the top has a great atmosphere and a view you just can’t look away from. A fantastic place to feel the scale of Calgary and take stunning photos. Highly recommended!
Дмитрий — Google review
The Calgary Tower turned out to be an excellent stop on our trip. Admission is roughly half the price of Toronto’s CN Tower, and since the Calgary Tower is about half the height, it feels like a perfect trade-off—great value without compromising the experience. We timed our visit for around sunset and it couldn’t have been better. The views of downtown Calgary, the Bow River, and the Rockies glowing in the evening light were absolutely stunning. From the glass floor to the 360-degree panorama, every angle offered something memorable. Overall, the Calgary Tower provides amazing scenery and a fair price point that makes it easy to recommend. If you can, plan your visit for sunset—you’ll catch the city at its most beautiful.
Kenneth G — Google review
It was definitely worth going once! You get to see the city from a view point that’s quite amazing. However it is super important to figure out what time you should go there. I wouldn’t go again though because I do not think the ticket prices are worth multiple visits.
Viraj M — Google review
We didn't buy the ticket to the top but we had a dinner in 360 sky restaurant at the top of the tower. The foods were out of the world and the price was right for a sky tower restaurant. We spent $200 incl tips there, while we spent $500 in Look up tower restaurant in Vancouver, ever the foods here much better than Vancouver. We don't have to wear fancy dress here, casual is okay.

What a wonderful place for a family outing! Be prepared to come early as it gets busier as the day progresses. Some highlights are: ➡️ The lookout by the valley is phenomenal! (This is a wonderful photo opportunity!) ➡️ Bring bags or empty to boxes to purchase fresh produce at amazing prices: examples: 😁 $4 for a huge handful of fresh kale 😁 $1 for a gigantic zucchini ➡️ If you love giant turtles 🐢, they are very friendly here! 👍🥰 Kids love to visit them! ➡️ If you enjoy freshly made pies, cheese buns and jams, this is the place to visit! ➡️ Saskatoon Berry bushes and other plants are available for purchase. Be prepared to book several hours to soak up the scenery, visit the turtles and browse through the fresh produce market and craft shops. Annie W. Master Reviewer Local Guide / Google Maps

Delightful, unexpected quaint place with amazing views. Tranquil, sounds of nature and beautiful gift shop, restaurant and bakery. Close to the city, a new found place of peace and a great quick place to hangout , shop eat and I cant wait to attend an event. I went midweek off season and it was still worth the drive. So pretty like a little western town full of architecture and detail. Friendly staff and animal mascots, cats and a dog roam around this working farm. Highly recommended for an outing and no entrance or parking fees. My new happy place.

This place was such an unexpected delight on our summer road trip through Calgary! The moment we pulled in I thought, wow, this is gorgeous! You could honestly spend the entire day here just wandering around, exploring, and soaking up all the sights and sounds. The farmers market was amazing, bursting with fresh produce, pickled goodies, meats, milk, honey, and the most beautiful handmade treasures. The shops gave me total Anthropologie vibes!!! I’m obsessed, honestly! And if my wallet would have let me, I could have happily bought one of everything. From clothing to home goods, everything was just so thoughtfully chosen and so pretty!! The people were just as wonderful! Everyone we met had a smile and made us feel so welcome. Outside, there were turkeys and chickens happily strutting about and a breathtaking valley view that felt like a postcard come to life. We snapped photos, soaked it all in, and even enjoyed lunch overlooking that view, absolute perfection! This place is pure magic!!! If you ever get the chance to stop here, please do. It’s the kind of place that fills your heart with joy and makes a road trip feel unforgettable!!

We enjoyed our visit to The Saskatoon Farm. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting, and the service was friendly. The food was tasty, nicely presented, and portions were generous. The variety on the menu is great, and it’s a good spot for both families and couples. That said, the service felt a bit slow at times, which kept it from being a perfect experience. Overall, it’s definitely worth visiting and we would come back again.

Firstly, I have to say that I’ve been coming to The Saskatoon Farm for years, and it has always been one of my favourite places to visit. I’ve never had a bad experience here: the selection of items for purchase is excellent, the markets are always well-organized and fun, the food has never let me down, and the produce is fantastic. So when my (now) husband and I started wedding planning, it was a no-brainer that this would be our top choice for a venue! We recently got married here, and my appreciation and love for The Saskatoon Farm have only grown. Our first tour was with Elena, who also became our main point of contact over the next year and a bit leading up to the wedding. She was incredibly thorough in answering my many (many!) questions and always got back to me in a timely manner. Both Elena and Nicole were also so helpful during our final walkthrough and in the days leading up to the wedding, whether it was during our decor drop-off, floral prep, or set-up instructions, it was clear how much they cared about ensuring we felt at ease and excited for the big day. The wedding day itself couldn’t have been more perfect; it truly was a dream come true. The entire team executed my vision flawlessly: from the custom cocktail hour menu, to the ceremony and reception set-up, to the thoughtful organization of the gift and guest book table, every detail showed so much care. Throughout the evening, they made sure everything ran as smoothly as possible, and I’m endlessly grateful we chose The Saskatoon Farm as our wedding venue. I also have to add that the space itself is PERFECT for a wedding. I highly recommend booking the Sunny Studio for getting-ready photos; it was spacious, beautifully lit, and we were even able to order breakfast and drinks right from the restaurant below. We also chose to add the flower baskets to the ceremony space (the lath house), and that was absolutely the right decision. And finally, I can’t recommend the Saskatoon berry pie enough for dessert! Our guests complimented all the food that evening, but the pie with ice cream was truly unforgettable. We’ll always support this business, and they have truly earned our highest praise. A very special thank you to Elena and Nicole, you played such a huge role in making our day so seamless and unforgettable! - Ioana & Jason

Heritage Park, located in Calgary, is a captivating destination that showcases the rich tapestry of Western Canadian history. Spanning over 127 acres, this living heritage museum features the Heritage Park Historical Village, Gasoline Alley Museum, and Heritage Town Square. Visitors can immerse themselves in both indoor and outdoor experiences throughout the warmer months from May to Thanksgiving. The park comes alive with seasonal re-creations featuring actors who bring history to life through engaging performances.
A few months back our family had a wonderfully relaxing day at Heritage Park! It was the perfect spot to slow down, take in some history, and just enjoy being together. My 9-year-old son loved exploring the old-fashioned buildings, riding the vintage train, and seeing how people lived in the past. One of the highlights was the paddlewheel boat ride on the Glenmore Reservoir. It was such a peaceful experience, giving us beautiful views and a chance to just sit back and enjoy the moment. The staff throughout the park were friendly and knowledgeable, making history come to life in such a fun way. We also spent some time at the antique midway, where my son had a blast with the old-school rides. And of course, no visit would be complete without a stop at the bakery for some delicious homemade treats! Heritage Park is a great place for families looking for a mix of education and relaxation. It was a perfect day—no rushing, just enjoying the sights, sounds, and experiences of the past. We’ll definitely be coming back!

A fun, festive, and educational experience for everyone. The Park has an assortment of activities, rides, food, civic museums, and heritage architecture emphasizing the cultural significance of early Prairie settlement/life. It's like taking a step back in time, and it's worth every dollar. 11/10 do recommend.

Heritage Park in Calgary is a fantastic destination for a family outing. The park stands out for its welcoming policy on food and drinks, allowing visitors to bring their own and enjoy a picnic-like atmosphere—a rare perk that saves a lot on expenses compared to other parks where you can easily spend over $100 just on meals. Though tickets are on the pricier side at $36 for adults and $26 for kids, the experience is worth every penny. The park is meticulously managed, from parking to rides and everything in between. It’s incredibly clean, with free water fountains and spotless washrooms, ensuring a comfortable visit. Highly recommended for a day of fun and relaxation!

Really enjoyed coming here. It's like Disneyland, but better, because you can actually learn something about actual frontier life and how Alberta came about as opposed to some fantasized version of how things were. Plus, the Vaudevillian performances were really entertaining. There was something that happened, I don't want to go into the details, but I want to take a chance to thank the staff for handling the incident professionally and being very kind to me and my party.

An absolutely wonderful place! The ticket price is well worth it, as it covers more than just a visit to a village—it's an immersive experience. During your visit, you'll watch over five short theater performances, each lasting at least 30 minutes, depicting the rich history of the area. The actors and actresses are incredibly talented, making the stories come to life. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and felt that one day isn't enough to fully appreciate everything this place has to offer. The staff members are all kind and helpful, providing excellent explanations about the site, especially the lady in the mine. You can begin your journey from the parking lot by taking a charming streetcar ride.Unfortunately, the gift shops didn’t have any magnets from this village, which was a bit disappointing.

This is such a wonderful place to visit. Everyone here always makes sure that you are having a good time. Everyone is in costume and stays true to the character they are portraying. There is a steam engine train you can ride as well at the steam ship that goes out along the reservoir. There are tractor rides and horse-drawn wagon rides, all of which are free with admission. There are midway rides for people of all ages. The general store and ice cream shop sell delicious treats, and the bakery is always making fresh baked items for sale. Every exhibit is authentic and has a plaque to describe its original location. There is so much to do that you can easily spend a full day here and not see everything there is to see.

I really enjoyed this place. Wow! If you have children, they will enjoy it as well. I recommend going on the steam locomotive at Shepard Station or riding the S.S. Moyie first (in the same area) then do the other after. After experiencing these attractions, wander the property. Cool off with a local brew at the Wainwright Hotel & Bar Room.

Truly amazing experience! All employees were very friendly and welcoming. So much things to do and have fun. We were visiting Calgary for the first time and Heritage Park was the best part of the trip. My son had a blast riding a real steam train. All the family had great time.

Big Hill Springs Provincial Park is a picturesque destination offering a short, family-friendly hike with charming features like small waterfalls and shallow streams. The well-maintained trails lead to two elevated viewpoints, providing stunning vistas of the surrounding natural beauty. Families can enjoy picnics in the grassy fields and kids can have fun playing in the water.
Beautiful gem close by the city! There are a few waterfalls which as lovely to listen to a beautiful to look at. The fall leaves are in full colour now as well! The hike/walk was pretty easy but I did find that the paths were not that well marked and there were a few times I didn't quite know where to go. But the trail is short so it wasn't a big deal!

Great place for a cool summer easy hike. 2 different trails of you want a little harder but short uphill to the Vista. great for small kids water is inches deep only but cold

Big Hill Springs Provincial Park in Alberta, Canada is a family-friendly park with a large spring, waterfalls, creeks, and hiking trails: Features The park is home to a large spring that originates from the Paskapoo Formation bedrock and preglacial sands and gravels. The water is a constant 43°F (6°C) and flows continuously. The park also has a series of waterfalls, some of which emerge over rocky terraces. Trails The park has a short, well-worn trail that's easy to follow and has lots of tree cover. The trail is great for the whole family, but the staircase leading up to the falls may not be dog-friendly. Activities Visitors can enjoy hiking, wildlife viewing, geocaching, and picnicking. The creek is a great place for kids to play, and there are picnic tables in the pond area. Location The park is located 19 km (12 mi) from Cochrane and is a short drive from Calgary. History Big Hill Springs was established in 1957 and was one of the first 50 provincial parks in Alberta. The park was originally designated a recreational park, but was later changed to a preservation park in 1976 due to damage caused by increased visitor use

Beautiful park with two elevated viewpoints and short, easy hikes that are perfect for families. The trails are well-maintained and offer a gentle, enjoyable walk through nature. Along the way, you'll find a couple of benches where you can sit and take in the serene surroundings. There are also a couple of small waterfalls, adding to the park's charm. The shallow streams of water are ideal for dipping your feet and cooling off on a warm day. Overall, this park is a lovely spot for a relaxing outing, whether you're looking to hike, enjoy a picnic, or simply unwind in nature.

We love this trail! It can be busy on weekends because it is very popular with all types, families, hikers, climbers, couples... The hike is easy, and very beautiful with a stream and waterfall. We use this park year round.
Krista G — Google review
Very beautiful falls , water falls are not very big and deep but you may see small falls on your way while hiking, wear full clothes because of mosquitoes. Hiking is easy one, kids can hike, North and south point view both are magnificent.
Jyoti W — Google review
Small but very nice natural area park with a spring-fed creek that runs in all seasons. In the summer it can be quite busy but winter is a good time to visit when fewer people are on the trails. There are some interesting geological features along the trails and signage discussing the history of the area. There is also a lot of wildlife in the area and makes for some good bird watching. The recently upgraded boardwalks over the creek are a nice touch and make for intuitive stops along the trails. The trails are fairly short and should be manageable for kids. The upper part of the park is a bit steeper and uneven and may be challenging for people with mobility issues. Regardless, the lower half of the park is easy to explore and enjoy.
Matt W — Google review
Went for a hike last weekend. It was great weather so enjoyed it. The trail is not too long but you can go little off-trail to explore. Suitable for kids and a family picnic. Definitely recommend to give it a try.

Nature & Parks
Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park, located just minutes from Cochrane, offers over 30 kilometers of trails that wind through protected grasslands, forests, and hills. Visitors can explore remnants of both industrial and indigenous history while enjoying views of the foothills and mountains. The park also offers guided golf cart tours providing insight into the area's rich history and stunning natural beauty. Additionally, the park hosts informative presentations on topics such as cattle management and local wildlife.
The park is huge and stunning with breathtaking views and a variety of hiking and biking trails. The trails are east with little elevation. There is a beautiful river down the valley A perfect getaway spot not too far from Calgary. Some areas of the park may be used as a pasture for cows so the access to those areas might be limited. Sometimes it is possible to see horses and they come close to you (fenced area). Keep an eye out for deer as well! Plenty of parking even on weekends. A fantastic destination not too far from Calgary makes it a perfect getaway spot for outdoor enthusiasts.

Beautiful and serene with hardly anyone around for miles. Great outdoors with an easy trail; we even chanced upon a doe less than 1 m from the walking path!

I bought my gal pal and I the 2 hour golf cart tour of this amazing park. Best money I have ever spent on an excursion! Nick gave us a friendly greeting and even found us a bench in the shade until the tour started. Lauren was our driver & tour guide. She was delightful, knowledgeable and so friendly! My gf and I had the best time seeing all the gorgeous scenery, beautiful wild flowers/bushes, and most of all, hearing the gripping history of the owners and workers of this majestic piece of land. Good job to the Alberta government for purchasing it and letting us all enjoy the wonderful splendor!

It was a nice walk on minimal elevation trail. It is very refreshing of seeing farms with canola field, cow grazing on the field with bow river. Lots of sun screen application, hat, a pair of shade is recommended as there is no shade along the trail.

Beautiful provincal park with many different trails we did a nice 11km and there is sooo much more we could have done.🥾 Bike and stroller friendly.🚲 Bring water, bug spray and a hat.🦟 Lots of parking space Outhouses and maps along trails. Happy hiking.😊

It is a beautiful place to spend a day walking, cycling or even be with your family away from the city. This is what a typical ranch in the foothills looked like located next to the Bow River before in enters the City of Calgary all thanks to The Waverly Family for donating the land to the people of Alberta.

Nestled about an hour from Calgary, Fallentimber Meadery is a delightful destination for families and friends alike. On our visit, we were warmly welcomed even as they were closing up for the day. The meadery offers a fantastic selection of pizzas, including vegetarian options that cater to all tastes. I particularly enjoyed their non-alcoholic sodas—especially the grapefruit lemon! The guided tour was both informative and enjoyable, thanks to our guide Nathan.
Me, plus wife and kids (5+7) were in the area and everyone was hungry as it was getting late (7pm). Weren’t entirely sure what time they were open til, but it wasn’t much of a detour so we thought we’d try it. When we got there, I think they were technically just closing, but they said no problem, they could make a few more pizzas (much appreciated!). Kids had pepperoni, I had sausage/peppers, and wife had zucchini/pistachio/goat cheese (they had lots of vegetarian options!). We also had some pints of mead, and the kids had the sodas (no added sugar, just sweetened with honey) Everything was fantastic! We all LOVED our pizzas. Their outdoor patio/deck area is really nice, as is the entire outdoor space with grass for the kids to run around on, lawn games, etc. Staff were very friendly. Vibe was awesome. Wasn’t our first time visiting FTM, but last time we just did a tasting and it was a shoulder season. This time the pizza and the outdoor atmosphere took it to next level. Highly recommend!

I went to Fallentimber Meadery for the first time today and had a very good experience. I greatly appreciate that they had non-alcoholic sodas as someone who doesn't actually drink alcohol. I highly recommend the grapefruit lemon. The prices were also not that bad considering the area. My friend got a flight of four for $10 they enjoyed all the flavours they got. Of the four they got, Honey Buck was their favourite. They also had fresh made pizza it was probably the best pizza I've had in a very long time. As a woman I also feel it is necessary to address something that I'm pretty sure every woman can relate to. They had free access to feminine hygiene products. I have only seen that in one other "tourist" location in Alberta.
Irien S — Google review
Relaxing atmosphere, could spend a lot of time here relaxing in a hammock, playing corn hole, and enjoying a fire oven pizza! Enjoyed a flight with a variety of samples. Will absolutely return!
Denise H — Google review
A first time visit to FallenTimber Meadery and it did not disappoint. We were booked on a 3.30pm tour but arrived just over an hour early. So we decided to eat, we had heard that the pizza was worth it, and have a pint of one of the draft meads. Neither of these choices were disappointing. The pizzas were amazing, the drinks we chose were refreshing and the patio area was big with great surroundings. Lawn games (inc Cornhole!) and hammocks hung in trees for anyone to use. The tour of the facility was great and worth it. They have an indoor hive, all those honey bees jostling for space, and learning about how they live their short lives was fascinating. We had a great afternoon and came away with some new flavours of mead that we have not tried before.
Michelle S — Google review
Fallentimber Meadery is a relaxing stop about an hour outside of Calgary. We arrived at around noon for their informative guided tour and tasting (thanks Nathan!). Afterwards, we bought a couple of pizzas, which were outstanding, and spent the afternoon playing games on one of their many picnic tables. They're incredibly welcoming, they have delicious products, and they've done a great job setting up their space.

I’ve always wanted to visit after trying their mead at farmers markets, so we finally had a chance this weekend. The place was jumping Saturday evening but there was still lots of room so our group settled into a couple flights and dropped over the pizza that we didn’t have time for. We will be back for pizza and beer one day soon for sure!
Raegan V — Google review
Great day trip out of town. You can learn all about the Meadery on the tour, then enjoy a flight of their cocktails or beer and you have to try one of their pizza's! Great deck and outdoor space to hangout, play games or just enjoy the scenery. And you can't leave without some merch and of course honey!
Nicole B — Google review
I bought their honey coming back from camping at a farmers market in a small town. Absolutely loved it, best honey ever. Sad I'd not be able to buy it again until I pass through next year. Imagine my surprise when I found them at Calgary Farmer's Market! Yay, I can now get my honey from them year round!

Calaway Park is a seasonal amusement park located in Western Canada, offering over 30 rides, stage shows, a 3D theatre, and midway games. It has been providing affordable and family-friendly entertainment for more than thirty years. The park's one-pay gate system allows unlimited access to rides, attractions, live shows, and street performers like stilt walkers and jugglers.
Calaway Park is a fantastic family destination! I've visited multiple times with my wife and our kids (ages 6 and 3), and each trip has been a joy. While some rides are age-specific and not suitable for younger children, there's still plenty to enjoy. The atmosphere is vibrant, the staff are friendly, and the park offers a wholesome experience for all ages. From gentle rides to engaging shows and play areas, our kids were entertained throughout. It's a great spot for creating lasting family memories. We will definitely be back!
Ifedapo A — Google review
Great amusement park for kids and parents/families, and lots of stuff for teens too. So many rides toddlers can go on if they are tall enough. Even when the parking is packed it is not too big of a wait for a lot of the smaller rides. The water rides are a long wait and close an hour before closing time. Lots of bathrooms around. Lots of food options. Shaved ice and pineapple dole whip is vegan. Cool Halloween vibes when summer season is over. Decorated all throughout the park.
Marta B — Google review
Coming into the parking lot, everyone was parking to the left as it looks like they are building something on the right. They have lots of people waving you in telling you where to park. They have many booths to pay for your tickets as you go in. I do recommend buying your ticket online before going in. When you went to the park you can go to the left or to the right. I recommend going to the roller coaster first. The lineups can get quite long. The roller coaster and the log ride usually get the longest lines. The staff is very friendly and the park is very clean. I do find the water is expensive there so bring your own water to drink. They do have an area with lots of picnic tables for you to have a lunch. I have a 2 year old and he could go on about nine rides. When my daughter was 9 she could go on every single ride. Overall I do like this park. I do believe it is time to add some new rides. We went September 14th and they had Halloween days starting. They had parades and they had people dressed up everywhere.
Stephanie M — Google review
The park is great, especially for kids and probably some teenagers up to around 14 years old. There are lots of fun rides for children, bright swings, and a Parade of Fairy-Tale Characters (they were handing out delicious candies). We also bought some food — the fries were very tasty. There are small lines for the restrooms. We’ll definitely visit this place again!

I visited Calaway Park and had a fantastic time! The park was spotless, the staff were super friendly, and the atmosphere was full of energy. It’s clearly a perfect spot for families—so many smiling kids and parents enjoying the day. Whether you’re with a group or on your own, it’s a fun, well-run park that’s worth the visit!

IF YOU WANT A GREAT PLACE TO TAKE THE WHOLE FAMILY, THIS IS IT! Amazing experience! They have rides for kids rides for adults, add rides for really small kids as well! There are lineups and that long. The most We ever waited was about half an hour. It is $52 to get in the dollars to get in the door if you are 13 to 65 years of age.
Christine G — Google review
Great value. Lots of rides and activities for my 5 and 7 year old kids. Did not have to wait more than 5-10 minutes for the rides. We would come back for sure. We liked the magic show.
Dave T — Google review
Fun lil park. Definitely for kids - we had fun for maybe 2 hours and that’s all there is to do as an adult. It’s closer to Calgary - the only perk. There were some rides that charge you additional $2-$5 on top of the entry ticket. Haunted house was a joke. Extremely long queues. Overpriced snacks and drinks. Meh! If you want to visit on a weekend, plan ahead cos parking is going to take you a long time.

Okotoks Erratic, located in the town of Okotoks, is a massive glacial boulder that weighs around 16,500 tonnes and stands at 9 meters tall. It is believed to have been left by glacial activity thousands of years ago and is considered a remarkable sight and an iconic landmark of Okotoks. The rock landed in its current location during a rockslide between 10,000 to 30,000 years ago.
one of the historic place in Alberta. very clear view. Best time of visit is summer when all lush green around. Facilities at the site include a paved parking lot, washrooms, and wheelchair-accessible ramps, making it suitable for visitors of all ages and abilities. The site is open year-round, offering a peaceful retreat with expansive views of the surrounding prairie and mountains

The Okotoks Erratic, also known as the "Big Rock," is an incredible natural landmark and definitely worth a stop. It's amazing to see such a massive boulder in the middle of the prairie and learn about its glacial history. The site is open 24/7, so it's easy to visit anytime, and there's plenty of parking nearby. There are walking paths around the rock with informational signs that explain its geological and cultural significance. It's also a popular spot for photos, short hikes, and even just a peaceful break when driving through the area. There aren't many amenities on-site, so bring water and snacks if you plan to stay a while. Overall, it's a fascinating and unique stop for anyone interested in nature, geology, or Alberta history.

We went to the Buffalo Jump Head Smashed in the other day and were blessed to hear the Napi story about the rock from a Blackfoot guide. We came to the rock just to admire it and weren’t disappointed. Such a great piece of history and nature.

Beautiful to see and history behind it accessible to all. Very annoying to see lots of people climbing the barriers and climbing the rocks and disrespecting the land despite clear signage to not climb. Do not climb and do not leave a trace please do not litter. Beautiful landscapes, and great to see if you’re in Okotoks.

As the name suggests a big rock in the middle of the grassland. It was Intersting to read the information boards about about how the rock got here from Jasper. Good place just to relax and unwind. There are many parkings and a gravel road leading up to the rock. The only big negative was the state of the public toilet. It was gross and smelled badly. I am not sure if it is always like this.

I had a great experience at this campground. It is smaller and more rugged, and that really added to the charm. It’s far enough out to feel secluded but not far out enough to feel isolated. There was a chariot clinic while I was staying and hearing the horses at night was so cool and made it really feel like cowboy camping. The campground hosts were incredibly friendly. I will definitely be back.

Eau Claire Distillery is Alberta's first craft distillery, located next to the Chuckwagon Cafe. They use locally sourced grains and water from the Rockies to create their award-winning spirits like Parlour Gin and EquineOx. The tasting room offers a classy experience with tap beer and unique cocktails. Customers praise the attentive service provided by staff members like Alantra, Sarah, and Ciara.
We had the best time here. We are from Winnipeg and always like to go to different distilleries on vacation. This one didn’t disappoint. They offered us many different tastes of their products and the food and mixed drinks are awesome. Angie I think is the manager and gave us such good service even though the tour was closed as a stat holiday. We enjoyed her educating us on the whiskies and if we can would love to host a party there one day.

Having provided music at the Eau Claire Distillery for several events over the years, if you're searching for a great venue. Chicken Fried Sandwich! Great service, great drinks and terrific service. We returned this year only to experience the same amazing service and food. I had them add fresh jalapenos and spicy chipotle to my fried chicken sandwich this time and I don't think it could have been better. The others in my party purchased several spirits from the distillery and we chatted about what a great experience it was again. I also had the Fahr zero beer and found it delicious.

OUTSTANDING!!!! From the moment you walk in the door to the moment you leave, you are treated with care, attention, and respect. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. The staff were happy, respectful, helpful, and knowledgeable. The manager was so cheerful and so happy to share the history of the Distillery, the buildings, and the products. And the food ... oh my goodness, the food ... BEYOND AMAZING!!! I will return ... frequently!!! Thank you for the best lunch experience!!!

The Eau Claire Distillery was such an incredible place to have our wedding! Jen and Mallory went above and beyond to make our wedding go off without a hitch. Jen managed the entire event: set up, schedule, flow, bartending, electronics and take down. I cannot recommend the staff enough, everyone was professional and friendly. We were lucky to have London create personalized cocktails for our wedding. He made it very difficult to choose a cocktail, as all of them were delicious. The venue is incredibly unique and offers so many different elements. From the private speakeasy, to the beautiful covered patio, the distillery and the whisky room. These all made for amazing photo opportunities. I cannot recommend this venue enough. I’m still dreaming of our magical wedding here!
Jordan M — Google review
My daughter and I visited the Distillery on Tuesday, September 9th around 1:15 PM, hoping to enjoy lunch on the covered patio. We placed our order and waited… and waited. After about 45 minutes, I approached the cook, who informed me that our order had been missed entirely. I was shocked — there were only two other couples on the patio: one had already finished eating, and the other was only having drinks. Frustrated and hungry, we decided to leave. I’m extremely disappointed with the lack of service and do not plan to return. This experience was unacceptable.
HID C — Google review
Family of mine live in Turner Valley & they alway rant & rave about this distillery. Since we were visiting, and they only live 1 block away, I decided to walk over. The Christmas Gin is what made me check out Eau Claire & right off the hop I was impressed. Everything about it is appealing to the eye. I would like to return in the spring/summer, when seating outside would be possible but there were happy patrons seated inside. I picked up too many & was sent back the next day to grab more for friends & family who heard about my experience. We dealt with a very lovely lady who gave us a tasting & although I didn’t get a big bottle, I did enjoy it! Definitely a HUGE selection from bottles to merch. I really loved their story & how they go about making their liquors as well as reading about all their copious awards!!!

We had a very nice drive through the foothills with a kaleidoscope of coulours at the start of fall. We did a half day hike with the family, including our 3 year old granddaughter. Lots of stops to take in the beauty and a dip in the coooooool Elbow River to cool off. A fantastic place to spend time with family

Great picnic spot. Day use only. Each site has a fire pit with a grill and a picnic table and the sites are large enough to accommodate big family gatherings. The site are very close to the river, some of them right alongside it. There is not a lot of space between sites but they are decently private and the rushing river blocks the sound. Some sites are a bit farther from the rest. This is along the elbow river trail so you can make a nice day of exploring the trails

This was a great area to stop for a BBQ lunch!!! There is a few picnic tables, they were all taken, and very close together.. . We enjoyed our lunch on the rocks !!! River runs through this area !

Beautiful location along the Elbow. Lots of picnic sites and all have fire pits. Not as crowded as Bragg Creek Provincial Park or the main campgrounds. A nice hideaway.

Boat launch with small picnic areas accessible via rocky pathways. Not wheelchair recommended. Garbage can and bathroom in parking lot only. Kananaskis park pass required.

I've been going to this place for years. The flood of 2013 has changed the landscape, however, I still love it there. There are picnic tables available, so pack a snack and spend the day out in nature. Lots of parking available.

This is a great picnic spot. Children can safely play in the water.

It's a beautiful spot. You can picnic frome here, hike, or start a canoe trip down the Elbow river.

I had an exceptional experience and what truly stood out was the amazing management. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that the team goes above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcome and cared for. Management was visible, approachable, and genuinely interested in making sure everything was perfect. They handled every request with professionalism and kindness, and even followed up to make sure I was satisfied. It’s rare to see that level of personal attention! Thanks to the outstanding management team, my stay felt seamless and stress-free. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place where guest experience truly matters.

I was travelling with my daughter and niece. Check in was good. Front desk staff was friendly. I booked a room with mountain views and 2 queen beds which was very pricey. My daughter noticed stains on the sheets. The room was very cool, so I tried to turn the heat up a bit for my niece who was cold. The heat was not working. There was hair in the "supposed clean hand towel" and also in the shower. The back of the remote was missing. For the price, I was not impressed so I went to the front desk and spoke with the manager. I was expecting to just get the sheets changed and the heat to be addressed but the manager was apologetic about our experience so he moved us up to a suite with a king bed and pull out couch and jet tub. I was excited as I thought a nice soak in the jet tub after a very long drive would be awesome. After moving into the suite, immediate regret followed cause we notice pieces of garbage on the carpets, crumbs though out all surfaces of the room including chairs and table tops. The bathroom floor was not swept at all which means it was not mopped either. It made me wonder if anything in the bathroom was cleaned. Needless to say, I did not use the jet tub. We checked out the bedding and found they appeared clean and we were all so tired, we did not have the energy to move rooms again. I showed the staff member who brought bedding for the pull out couch the bathroom floors and he came back with a broom and dustpan to clean it up and assured us he would let housekeeping know. We checked out first thing in the morning. The only thing we were very satisfied with was our dining experience. The food was very good and the restaurant staff was amazing!

It's one of the worst hotels that I have seen in Canada Don't get me wrong it looks good. I mean appearance. But good things herr are finished in hotel. 🤧They don't have: free breakfast, laundry room (seriously?),comfy and big ean gym,and there is no water dispenser. Furthermore, guest relation people were acting like they don't care. They can easily argue with gursts till the end and the word "service" was heard only in legends Furthermore, I suppose that I have forgotten my deodorant and two bottles of Parfums. In two days I called the hotel and the lady on another side of the phone told me that she has nothing. So I can make a deduction that it was taken and necer brlught back. Well,it's First Nation hotel and they know that noone would touch them. If you have a choice to sleep in a tent or in this hotel, you know what to choose🙂 P.S. two deds room will cost you 360$ with taxes and no breakfast. Enjoy

"The hotel exceeded my expectations. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, from the front desk to the restaurant servers to the casino staff. Our room was spacious, spotless, and had a very comfortable bed. The location has beautiful scenery but needs more activities; maybe a spa. The restaurant had a good variety of options for breakfast and dinner. I would highly recommend this hotel and plan to return on my next visit".

We stayed here for our staff retreat and it has an amazing location. It has Canmore about 20 minutes away to the West and Calgary is only 40 minutes away to the east. I loved the beds! They were firm and they need another extra pillows, the AC AND AIR units are amazing! One thing I didn’t like was the … food, as it was delicious, it was tooo greasy. Breakfast was the go to tho. Another thing was the TV were not compatible with YouTube, Netflix, prime, as you can log into your apps. I loved the Native Gas Bar, what else, i would highly recommend this place for other Staff to do their retreat, the Staff are friendly, fast. The sign said it was newly renovated; I do not know how long but it is amazing, barely heard any Neighbor or loudness

Do NOT go here. All the dealers have no experience and speak very little English. You'll need to watch your hand very closely since the dealers have no training and seem to be taught to take your money regardless if you win, push, or loose. I was dealt a straight flush in Texas Hold'em and the dealer took my money. After I explained his mistake, the dealer agreed and called over the pit boss to approve my pay out. The pit boss, who was watching another table across the floor during the hand, immediately stated that I had "folded and forfeited my money" before the dealer was even finished explaining. After several minutes of me trying to explain and her repeatedly stating "You fold!" the floor manager finally came over again started parroting what the pit boss was saying even though the dealer and other players were agreeing with me. Eventually, I asked them to make use of the many cameras above us to prove what I was saying was true. They agreed and called the surveillance room. After whispering over the phone for 20 seconds (Not even enough time to pull the camera up and rewind) the floor manger stated "He said you folded" I asked to see the footage as this was clearly incorrect and he said that wasn't possible. I was out of energy at this point and was clearly getting no where. If this had happened in a US casino I certainly would have called the Gaming commission right then, but since this is in CAN I'll need to research where/if I can report them.

I stayed at Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino in Alberta, Canada for 4 days, and it was a wonderful experience. The environment was beautiful, the rooms were clean, and the waiters were very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay and would love to visit again!

Stayed the night while traveling though. At first glance it looked like this was going to be an amazing experience. But once I got to my room it was a memorable experience in the wrong ways. Check in was good friendly staff but once I got to my room it went down hill. Firstly I walk into my room and it's very warm no AC on once turning the AC on I noticed nothing was happening. I called the lobby but no answer.. I did some troubleshooting myself and noticed the batteries on the thermostat were dead. Luckily I had some in my backpack changed them out and AC turned on. Although the AC did not cool down much after that not sure what the issue was for that.. Then I noticed a paper that was slid under my door saying there was a planned power outage for the night.. in all my years of traveling and staying in places I've never seen a planned power outage.. power went out around 4am woke me up no lights on anything.. also my door wouldn't lock so that was a peaceful feeling.. overall horrible stay hardly got any rest or needed sleep while traveling. If you are traveling through stay clear looks are deceiving.

Sheep River Provincial Park - Kananaskis Country

Nature & Parks
Sheep River Provincial Park in Kananaskis Country is a hidden gem that offers an abundance of outdoor activities amidst stunning natural beauty. Nestled in the foothills, this park features spacious camping areas and numerous hiking trails perfect for wildlife enthusiasts eager to spot big horn sheep. While Kananaskis can get busy, particularly during peak times, those willing to venture further south from Calgary will discover quieter paths and breathtaking views.
What a beautiful trail area in the foothills with so much information and history for big Horn sheep. It can get very busy, so I would recommend going earlier in the day, as well as this road is closed during the winter months beyond a certain point, so be mindful of that. All that being said, a wonderful trail and overlook, and a really beautiful park to explore, especially for the waterfalls! Very close to Calgary as well.

A Beautiful Drive and Relaxing Escape to Nature The drive from Calgary to Sheep River Provincial Park is absolutely stunning and highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful escape from the city. Starting from Calgary, the route takes you through the scenic foothills of the Rockies, offering a panoramic view of the mountains and sprawling prairies along the way. It's about an hour and a half drive, but it feels much shorter because the scenery is constantly changing and breathtaking throughout the journey. As you move further away from the city, you can feel the pace of life slow down. The wide-open fields gradually give way to rolling hills, forested areas, and winding roads, making the drive feel both adventurous and calming at the same time. We drove on a sunny day, and the way the light hit the mountains and trees was nothing short of magical. The sky seemed to stretch endlessly, and the fresh air coming in through the car windows was refreshing. Once we reached Sheep River Provincial Park, we were greeted with an atmosphere of pure tranquility. The park itself is quite peaceful, with fewer crowds compared to some of the more popular destinations near Calgary, which makes it perfect for a relaxing day trip. There are several picnic areas, and we found a nice spot right by the river. The sound of the flowing water combined with the gentle rustle of the trees made it an ideal place to unwind and soak in nature. We enjoyed a leisurely walk along some of the well-maintained trails that wind through the park. The trails offer stunning views of the river, cliffs, and surrounding forests. We were lucky enough to spot some wildlife, including deer and various bird species. If you’re looking for a serene getaway that’s not too far from Calgary, I highly recommend taking a trip to Sheep River Provincial Park. Whether you're driving for the views or staying for the peaceful atmosphere, this place is a hidden gem that will leave you feeling rejuvenated.

Go early, enjoy the best that this place can offer. Texas Gates are just annoying there are too many. Lots of nice place to relax and take your souvenir shots. Nice place to have a family time. Plenty of tables and chairs. Make this place your go to escape from your busy schedules.

We just stopped by for a few hours, the view is so good during the fall time, all golden colour. Wherever you take pictures, all beautiful. If I have more time, I definitely will spend more time there in the future.

Nice place for camping and it would be better to take the pass once before you reach there, Since the mobiles were not accessible with the network. Pass would require to park our vehicle in the valley, if you would like to stop to see the place. If are just travelling through the place without stopping then you should not require any pass.

This is an awesome place to visit and camp, there is also a day use area at the end of the highway at the turn around. Blue rock camp ground is also a great place to hang out with the family for a few days, lots of hikes and bikes to do in the area.

Nice place in the foothills of the Rockies, under an hour drive from Calgary. Lots of easy to medium, even strenuous hikes. Half of the year the road is closed and there is very limited access. If you get there in that time you will see wild animals roaming around...

Nestled in the Little Elbow Provincial Recreation Area, Forgetmenot Pond Day Use Area is a serene and popular spot for picnics and outdoor activities. It offers trailheads for hikes like Nihahi Ridge and mountain bike trails such as Little Elbow and Big Elbow. The area provides fire pits, picnic tables, and lush greenery, making it an ideal location for a relaxing picnic or wiener roast.
We visited Forgetmenot Pond on a rainy day, but still absolutely loved it! The views are breathtaking, even in cloudy weather. There are picnic areas where you can enjoy quality time with friends or family by the lake, surrounded by beautiful nature.

Beautiful spot to visit! 🌲✨ A few things to keep in mind: • You’ll need to buy a Kananaskis Conservation Pass in advance ($15). • No mobile signal in the area, so be prepared. • Very accessible for strollers and wheelchairs. • Multiple parking areas available—if one is full, just drive a bit further. • Great picnic areas and even BBQ spots. The place is so quiet, peaceful, and perfect for a family day out. Highly recommend!

Excellent spot to enjoy a nice day out with family or friends. There are plenty of picnic spots spread out around the entire pond and most have bbq/fire pits. The path around the pond is well maintained and it’s a nice, easy walk. There are also benches along the water to stop and enjoy the beautiful scenery. It does get busy so get there early to secure the perfect spot! There is plenty of parking, and some restrooms. It is at the end of the paved portion of the road and keep in mind that the road is closed in winter. A Kananaskis pass is required in this area.

Forget-Me-Not Pond is a hidden gem! The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful—perfect for a relaxing nature escape. Whether you're into paddle boarding, hiking, or just soaking in the stunning views, this spot has something for everyone. It’s an ideal place to unwind, connect with nature, and enjoy the calm beauty of the outdoors. Highly recommended for a day trip or quiet getaway!
Jescel R — Google review
Excellent spot for a paddle, kayaking, or a simple picnic. There are bathrooms (not flushable though) and the pond is very close to the parking area. It can get pretty busy, though. If you like solitude, this isn't the best place for it.
Norah — Google review
Every time we want to spend a fun afternoon with family and friends, we come here. The size of the pond is perfect for kids and adults to go in on a boat or even take a swim, while you can picnic or bbq your favourite meals. Parking is very limited so make sure you arrive really early in the morning since this place is very popular.
Juan B — Google review
Very scenic picnic place for friends and families. Be early to get a good spot. Purchase a provincial park pass for the vehicle before going to this area as there is no cell phone reception around this area.
Pramodya A — Google review
Please buy Kananaskis Pass to avoid any potential tickets or trouble. $15 for 1 day. So expensive but it's per vehicle. There is no wait time at this beautiful park but expect tons of people taking up benches and picnic tables. If you want to guarantee a spot of your choice on the weekend arrive by 9am. Tons of people and kids on the water, paddle boarding and playing. Pet friendly and absolutely BBQ and family friendly. Canopy is a good idea for the sun and bug spray good idea for the mosquitoes. I also recommend sunscreen when it's super sunny and hot. The water at forget me not pond is ice cold. It barely ever warms up and takes a while to get used too. Bathrooms are regular outhouses and stink but not much to expect here. Limited parking is an issue. It is absolutely first come first served. People park where it says no parking and do anything it takes because parking does run out. This location has no service and really no service within 10-15km based on our drive. Make sure your family/party knows what they are doing and where they are going. Small wagens or dollies are good for transporting coolers and gear because your spot may be a 5min walk away. You are allowed to drink at designed tables and fires are fair game. Check for fire bans in case. Clean up your garbage to keep this park as clean as possible. Always a great time having parties and events at forget me not pond. A must see!

Grotto Mountain is a renowned destination for both hikers and climbers, offering an exhilarating experience with its challenging trails and stunning vistas. This loop trail spans approximately 8.9 kilometers, reaching an elevation of 1,352 meters. While it may appear manageable from a distance, the ascent to the summit demands technical skills and endurance due to significant elevation gain and rocky terrain. The journey typically takes around three hours to complete.
Was a pleasure to solo this mountain twice - once to remember one friend and once to remember another. Would highly recommend a compass, as the intertwining game trails - combined with all of the different man-made trails (sadly) - can make things confusing. Try to stick to the most well-used trails out of courtesy to the environment if you can. Bring plenty of water, as you'll spend a fair amount of time above treeline. Stay safe and enjoy! :-)

The true mountain hiking experience here ...I do not know why it is not popular and people prefer fast food peak like MacDonald...what is special is the different landscape , exposed view throughout the hike , and no scrambling on the peak...it is long very steep hike..do not take cougar passage trail since there us sign of bear there. Take the trailhead and enjoy
Mohamad C — Google review
By far one of my favorite hikes! I've done this one twice! Very challenging (requires skill, and endurance). I'd only recommend it to experienced hikers. Absolutely breathtaking views though... Remember, even if it's hot at the base, it could be below 0 at the summit. Pack accordingly. Due to proximity to Canmore, cell reception is available as long as you have line of sight to the city (which is virtually everywhere above the tree line).
Stephen W — Google review
Whoever built this trail has heard of switchbacks, it would seem, and early attempts at their creation were promising. As the unnamed switchback creator tired from the climb, I can only presume, their work started to get sloppy, the switchbacks resembling random drunken stumbles from side to side more than the designs of an intelligent mind. It was steep, steep as the cost of loving in this broken world. But as the sun broke o’er the horizon as we traversed the final ridge, all felt right with the world once again. Until we had to go back down those ——— switchbacks.
Mark J — Google review
Didn’t expect the continuous steep trail. If you like challenge do this trail. The view at the peaks are worth it. If possible use a hiking sticks and hiking shoes u really need it when going down . Difficulty: very hard
V H — Google review
This hike is a leg killer! I started from the hard route all the way up and ACC route going down. If you really wanted a leg workout this is your absolute wish list. At the summit you get spectacular views around Canmore and exshaw. If you're on a roll alot of Big Horn sheep on the ridge. Always pack alot of water and don't underestimate the mountain conditions it will change like your mood.

It was a hard hike for sure. Very steep. It would have been beautiful but smoky on Aug. 14/21.

Discover the hidden wonders beneath Canmore's stunning mountains with Canmore Cave Tours. This renowned cave guide company has been leading adventurous explorers through the Rats Nest Cave system since 1992. Choose from the Explorer Tour or the more daring Adventure Tour, which includes an exhilarating 18-meter rappel. Regardless of your choice, you'll delve into the natural history of Canmore and witness the untouched beauty of this wild cave system located under Grotto Mountain.
Awesome experience at Canmore Cave Tour. We went with our three teenage children and they are still talking about it. The hike to the top is a moderate hike. I would suggest to dress in layers. It was 23 degrees at 9:30am outside and about 5 degrees in the caves. Our Tour guide was Brent and he was amazing, funny and knowledgeable. He made the 4.5 hours even better. This is not a walk in the park and even though we are a physical fit family, there were some parts in the cave that required good upper body strength and perseverance. This is a unique 55m plunge to another world. Great fun and a good challenge.

The tour was more intense than I expected and I loved it! I've done a cave tour in New Zealand and it was nice, but mostly walking. We did the Adventure tour which had some polished climbing sections , a rappel, and some optional very tight squeezes (The second photo is in the optional Laundry Chute, which was tight but super fun!). This tour was definitely worth the cost and I totally recommend it for someone with at least moderate fitness

Canmore Cave Tours is SO much fun! I brought a group of 7 to do the Adventure Tour. Our guide Annie was so knowledgeable and kept us calm and safe while exploring the caves. I highly recommended doing a tour with them, I gained so much confidence in myself and it was such a good way to bond with my friends (who are all different body shapes & sizes). When we left the cave, my friends and I all said we want to go AGAIN or maybe even take a caving course with them!! Additionally, if you have any hesitations or questions, their admin was super helpful and informative.

Amaaazing adventure 🫶! Loved it! I took the Adventurous Tour — we started around 10:15 am and finished about 4 pm. We met at the office, tried on our overalls and gloves, grabbed our gear, drove a short distance, and then hiked about 30–40 minutes up Grotto Mountain. At the shelter, we had some snacks, got fully geared up, and headed off to the caves. We spent about 3.5 to 4 hours inside, and it’s definitely not for the faint-hearted! We rappelled about 20 meters into the dark, squeezed through the “Laundry Chute,” and explored so many cool spots. It was so peaceful and full of great memories. Since it was shoulder season, there were only five of us — we had the whole cave to ourselves! Our guide, John, was patient and full of amazing stories about wildlife and geology. Wouldn’t change a thing. Highly recommend — thank you!🫶🫶🫶

What an incredible experience this adventure with Canmore cave tours was. My sister, my son and I went on an epic cave tour of the rats nest cave by Canmore. Holy moly!! I can’t say enough good words! Our cave guide Annie was super amazing!! She was very friendly, knowledgeable, and very encouraging! She definitely helped us push our limits today. It was just an all around super day!! Thanks so much!! 20/10 experience. 10 stars, five isn’t enough!!!!

We did the adventure tour with Brent. It was our first time in a cave, and it was the best outdoor (indoor?) experience of my life. Brent was an amazing, highly knowledgeable, and friendly guide. He was attentive to everyone’s safety without ever being overbearing. He motivated us to push our limits and offered encouragement when needed. The cave itself was stunning, and I only wish we could have stayed longer and explored more. I’m deeply grateful for the experience and can’t wait to one day be back in a cave!

Anyways very good very fun, we all had an amazing experience!! 10000/10 stars, would do again!!

Upper Kananaskis Lake, located in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, is a stunning mountain lake offering various outdoor activities. Visitors can enjoy paddling and stand-up paddleboarding on calm days, but should be prepared for windy conditions. The lake is surrounded by scenic hiking trails with sweeping mountain views. For those seeking a more adventurous experience, kayaking at nearby Chester Lake is an option, although it requires a 5km hike to access the water.
It's a very nice circular route, about 17 km. In general, this route is considered average, but I would say that it is easy, the only thing is the distance, but there are no elevation changes, it takes an average of 5 hours to complete it. It is a very popular place for backpacking, camping and hiking.

Soo glad I finally made it to Upper Kananaskis Lake! This place is honestly a hidden gem. The whole lake is surrounded by mountains and pine trees—just pure, peaceful nature everywhere you look. I found my perfect little spot by the water to just sit, breathe, and completely unwind. The air feels so fresh, you can hear the soft sound of the waves, and the views are unreal. Spent hours just exploring the trail, taking photos, and honestly just having fun. It’s one of those spots where you instantly feel calm and happy. Already planning my next visit! It was snowy and foggy when we arrived here but the view is still stunning and breathtaking. The snow peak was hidden and veiled by fog and clouds, like everything slows down.
