Water & Amusement Parks
World Waterpark, situated within the West Edmonton Mall in Alberta, Canada, is a renowned indoor water park offering an array of thrilling attractions. It boasts the world's largest indoor wave pool and 17 exhilarating waterslides that promise an unforgettable experience for visitors. Additionally, the mall houses Galaxyland Powered by Hasbro, featuring over 25 exciting rides and play areas suitable for all ages.
I finally got my family to come meet me in Edmonton after a work rotation. We went to the water park for the afternoon and took it all in. I love that there were adult drinks at the bar, and the rides were great for the little ones. They had a blast on all the slides, the wave pool, and the Caribbean play area. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to kill a day in the mall.

After visiting many indoor water parks, West Edmonton Mall’s is definitely my favourite so far. The many water slides and areas to explore tops. Some slides can be pretty hectic here and there specifically ones in which you are dropped straight down. But in general most of the slides here were pretty good. Lines weren’t as bad as thought they would be for a Friday and never did I wait more that 20 minute, this can obviously vary/depend on which slide you’re waiting for. If you’re looking for something not too crazy and fast I would recommend the blue bullet (That may not be the name as I don’t remember it) but It’s essentially a blue slide somewhere in the middle of all the slides and it has two parts to it. Like any other attraction at WEM the price is pretty pricey being the same as Galaxyland but that could’ve change on your age. The wave pool along with all the other activities are also very fun to check out. I’ll typically visit every few years and it’s never a disappointment.
Ted R — Google review
We had a fun experience, however some things I did not love. First off having to purchase a single tube to do the rides, like come on. Yes I know a double tube is free but always long wait and I would have to go every time with my son, so we eventually bought a single. Also the weighing us before certain slides, I’m barely 120 pounds and my son is 60lbs and they weighed us to make sure we are not over 250lbs each… like really… anyone with eyeballs would know we are not over 250lbs. Trying to avoid fat shaming I supposed but really strange concept. Did like how they had dip in dots and served alcohol in the park! The no and out is annoying too. I bought a day pass, I should get to use it all day when I want. My son had fun though so I guess that’s all that matters!
A M — Google review
My children loved and enjoyed their entire time. There was a problem with lockers need to be fixed , it took us half an hour to get our bracelets and put our belongings away and need to renovate the changing room area looks so old and the floors were slippery my younger daughter falls so many times.
Salima — Google review
Zip line was not open. There were a few slides closed. Admission fee is the same for swimmers and those who are unable to swim and/or take full advantage of the included amenities . Ridiculous! There is a no leave and return policy whatsoever for Hotel guests. Ridiculous! The locker rental is far too complicated and far too expensive! Ridiculous! WEM management should be ashamed of their greed and inflexibility to disabled visitors. As a resident of Edmonton, I was embarrassed for the out of town friends who stayed at the hotel and were subjected to these absurd pool policies. Shame!
Kevin H — Google review
World Waterpark at West Edmonton Mall is awesome! The wave pool is huge, and the slides are really fun — from easy ones for kids to intense thrill rides. The park is warm and tropical, and there are lots of places to relax. It can get crowded and pricey, and some extras cost more, but it’s a great day out for families or anyone who likes waterparks
Gamer B — Google review
Went to the waterpark for the first time in about 8 years and was quite disappointed from the last time we were there. 1/2 the waterslides now require a tube to go down. We tried renting tubes about 1 hr after the park opened (once we got settled) and they were already out. We tried several more times over the next 4 hrs. Always sold out. Therefore we could not get on most slides that required one because they had very few available for public use. Wait times were anout 1/2 hr to get a tube and then wait at top in lineup. At $64 a person for a pass, plus food, locker rental, drinks, towels and to only get on a ride 3 times was very disappointing. Line ups were very long. People with tubes could get on quicker. My son and nephew were super disappointed and asked to leave early out of frustration. I would be hardpresesed to recommend this to family and friends in the future. Had I known, I would of run to get a tube first thing as soon as I got there. I would think if thats how the park operates now, why not have enough tubes to rent? Or dont oversell entrance to the park. Staff were friendly and polite. Wave pool was good. But waterslides very disappointing. We had 16 year old boys so smaller slides were not an option.
Vicki W — Google review
Very big and spacious. Has lots of slides both for kids and adults. Giving this 4 stars because tickets are expensive and lockers are $15 for medium sized which is very shocking. You can also rent tubes which is even more weird.

West Edmonton Mall

Shopping mall
Shopping
West Edmonton Mall, also known as WEM, is one of the largest malls in North America. It features over 800 shops and a wide range of family attractions. Visitors can enjoy activities such as skating, visiting the water park, exploring Galaxyland Amusement Park, experiencing marine life at Sea Life Caverns, playing golf, and more. The mall also houses two hotels: the themed Fantasyland Hotel and the budget-friendly West Edmonton Mall Inn.
I’ve never been to such a massive mall before! With over 800 stores, it’s not just a shopping destination—it’s an entire experience. The mall features an indoor amusement park, an ice skating rink, an arcade, and even a full water park. There’s also a small marine show that adds to the fun. What really stood out to me is how versatile and family-friendly the place is. There are tons of activities for kids, making it a great spot for families. And when it comes to food, the variety is impressive—there’s something for every taste. The mall is so huge that a few hours just wasn’t enough to explore everything, but I really enjoyed the lively atmosphere and friendly people. I highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area—it’s definitely worth the trip!
Jenny S — Google review
This mall has everything… and somehow nothing at the same time! It’s huge, with a wide variety of stores to explore. There are two food courts plus another large dining area with major restaurant chains. You’ll also find some big-name designer stores for those looking to splurge. For fun, there’s an ice rink, a mini golf course, and so much more to keep the kids entertained. The only downside? There aren’t enough washroom facilities on either level, and they could definitely use more maps to help visitors navigate. If you’re new here, expect to wander a bit before finding what you need. Overall, it’s a beautiful, extremely clean mall—and be prepared, because it’s very busy from Sunday morning straight through to closing time.
Marie C — Google review
Ok, Fantastic Shopping Mall. An absolute gem to have in the city and especially in winter time for local residents to explore, have employment, in away from the cold. Bad news, WEM, this mall, still has absolutely ugly, horrible, unsafe pedestrian and bicycle access. Having made the trek on foot and by bicycle to this mall since it was just Phase 1 to now. Nothing for pedestrian access overall has improved. There is a nice newly refurbished pedestrian bridge between the mall and the hospital spanning the ugliest of highway streets. It's a new pedestrian bridge that still connects to ugly outdated, poor unsafe pedestrian walkways and crossings. And on the mall side it leads to an almost abandoned portion of phase 1 since the Bay closure. The city of Edmonton has an absolute gem of River Valley just a few kilometers away from the Mall. Visitors wouldn't stand a chance to enjoy a walk or bike from the Mall to see it. Which means local residents suffer the same fate. Please make sure to finally work with the city to improve and modernize pedestrian and bicycle access to the Mall from all compass directions. Yes, once largest parking lot in the world accommodates many, still very sad it is an ugly walk from next door to your WEM entrance doors.
Hello H — Google review
West Edmonton Mall is truly an experience, not just a shopping center! It has everything in one place; hundreds of stores, a huge variety of restaurants, and so many fun attractions. I especially loved the indoor waterpark and Galaxyland, perfect for both kids and adults. The atmosphere feels vibrant and welcoming, and the mall is kept clean despite its massive size. It’s easy to spend an entire day here exploring, shopping, eating, and relaxing. Parking was convenient, and staff at the stores and attractions were friendly and helpful. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, West Edmonton Mall is definitely worth visiting, there’s always something exciting to do! I had a full day of attraction here, the food court had varieties of food. I was also opportuned to watch a junior hockey league game and a judo competition during my visit.

->Drove 3500 km to knock this visit off the "Bucket list"<- Heard about this place all my life. Always thought "Wow, an amusement park? A waterpark? A hockey rink? Inside a mall?" But that was back in the 80s when malls were - well, everywhere. Now, not so much so. Almost all the malls in my area are gone so visiting a mall (any mall) is a little like visiting "something special" And boy howdy - was this one ever special!! So we spent the most time (and money) in the "coin and stamp" shop, which isn't just coins and stamps. It's also action figures (new and retro), comics, funko pops and much more. A fun shop! We really enjoyed just walking about and seeing all the stuff. Kids on rental "bouncy bike plush ponies", a mini putt course, pirate themed radio control boats, a full waterpark, and even hung around to catch a hockey game. We ate junk food and checked out Galaxyland (largest indoor amusement park: rides for kids; many Hasbro board-game themed). General pass for adults in 2025 is about $65 (pre tax), kids about $55 and you can pay more to add on mini golf and mirror maze and other stuff. Geez, what a place! Definitely worth seeing at least once! Remember where you parked, eh?

I did this adventure with a friend while visiting the West Edmonton Mall. He had done a similar adventure before while this was my 1st experience. It was amazing. You could really get the sense of actually being there. It was very realistic and well done. There were a few minor glitches but nothing that takes away from the experience. It takes about 45 minutes from start to finish and you are taken on a pretty incredible journey through the pyramid and beyond. The story is well told and easy to follow. One point to note is that if you have a fear of heights you may experience it during parts of the adventure. It is definitely a must do if you get the opportunity.
Vickie Z — Google review
West Edmonton Mall is truly an unforgettable experience! It’s not just a shopping destination but also an adventure. With hundreds of stores, an indoor amusement park, a waterpark, and even an ice rink, there’s something for everyone. The variety of dining options is amazing, and the atmosphere is lively no matter what time of year you visit. It feels like a small city under one roof, offering endless entertainment, shopping, and fun for families, friends, and travelers from all over the world.
Pilo N — Google review
I visited here from Indiana and I must say the mall is probably the reason everyone is migrating from Toronto to Edmonton. You can take the whole family there and stay for several hours. I was very impressed at the amount of stores and everything this has to offer. There is a full size hockey rink with 2 smaller rinks for skills training, car dealership, Asian Walmart supermarket, putt putt, a pirate ship with a lazy river and pedal boats, restaurants that I thought qas the food court but wasn't, a Waterpark with a wave pool and zip lines, indoor amusement park, doggy daycare, every store filled (except Hudson's bay), parking available in a parking garage for free.

Kraay Family Farm, Home of the Lacombe Corn Maze, is a delightful destination that promises fun for all ages. This hidden gem in Alberta features an impressive life-size corn maze that transforms with creative designs each year, making every visit unique. Families can enjoy a variety of activities including petting zoos and mini-games, ensuring there's never a dull moment. Visitors rave about the joy of exploring the maze and playing in the giant corn pit—perfect for kids!
We had a lot of fun today dodging the weather. So much to do for any aged visitor. We even found more things to do while leaving, so we will have to return to try those things. Bring lots of quarters to feed the critters.
Geoff Z — Google review
We visited Kraay Family Farm the year before and had an absolute blast — so we came back again this year, and it was awesome 👍. They’ve added lots of new attractions like the piggy ride, the manpower rollercoaster, tubing, paintball, and more. Everything is well maintained, and we appreciated the drinking water stations and hand washing stations set up throughout the farm. The staff were super friendly, and being able to purchase admission online (and save!) made things even easier. The punch card was a great value — especially if you’re a fan of their hot chocolate. There were so many activities that even after 6 hours, we still didn’t get to everything. It’s a fantastic place to spend time with the kids — and we adults had a lot of fun too!
Herbalife N — Google review
We had a fantastic day at the Kraay family farm! Our granddaughter said we have to do this every year. It was the highlight of our summer! I've heard it called "Alberta's Disney land" & I would concur. We had so many favorite things like the tube slide, the roller coaster, you have to wind it up. Ha ha Probably my personal fav was the singing chicken piano. Everything was well maintained and the staff were friendly. All in all a very enjoyable day!
Rose P — Google review
We came here for sunflower pictures. But ended up doing almost all of the activities and there is alot of activities. We also had supper there and everyone enjoyed their meals and the ice cream they had after. A great addition to central alberta.
Hailey S — Google review
Great family experience. They’ve got the services dialled in. So much stuff for the kids to do, we have a 4 & 1 year old and could’ve been there 5+ hours easily. Purchased a punch pass which got us all the extras we needed. We’ll be back next year to hire a tent and BBQ with others.

Took our grandsons and we had a blast! Lots to do for all ages! My only tip, The food court was very expensive so bring in your own food.
Glenda P — Google review
Friday night we went, super busy with teens, it's expensive with $40 a person but there is a ton to do. I don't really understand the QR code bit through the corn maze but that's okay it was still fun :)

Museums
TELUS World of Science - Edmonton is a top attraction in Northern Alberta, offering interactive science experiences for visitors of all ages. The center features five permanent galleries with hands-on exhibits on topics like robots and the human body, as well as a state-of-the-art IMAX Theatre and a planetarium showcasing captivating shows. Known for hosting major traveling exhibitions such as Harry Potter: The Exhibition and STAR WARS IDENTITIES, this science center also boasts the largest planetarium in Canada.
We visited on a Sunday and the crowd was not bad at all. The IMAX theater was awesome but I recommend sitting near the back because the front was way too close to enjoy the show. Zeidlar Dome is always a hit with the kids. The place is well kept and clean. The staff is always inviting and helpful. We went as a family of 4 so 2 adults and 2 youth costed us $120. I think the cost is worth it for how much there is to do and see there. You could easily spend 4 hours seeing all the exhibits. There is a cute gift shop, classrooms, labs and a small cafeteria to buy food. I recommend bringing your own snacks and eating outside because it's a really nice space in front of the main entrance. I highly recommend this place for a nice afternoon in Edmonton!
Chantell A — Google review
We took our grandkids and we/they had a great time. We also watched the fantastic IMAX movie about “Blue Whales”. I’d recommend that you take your children or grandkids for a visit.

I love science. I love experiments, news and updates on scientific advances, and I raise my daughters in this curious, creative atmosphere. So Telus is a fabulous adventure space for us! every room, every interaction, every show, film, we always feel fulfilled. We always leave happier! we interact with everything, we read, and all of this PLAYING! It's absolutely wonderful. We are members, we always come and enjoy everything they launch!

I went to the Ozzfest laser show at the zeidler dome. I have no complaints, tickets are very reasonable. An overall great experience. Shows are about an hour and a half. Its a nice excuse to sit back relax, listen to good tunes and watch a cool laser show. My favorite is when the lasers are passing through the smoke its so hard to describe but its very cool.
Ashley V — Google review
We had a fun afternoon checking everything out. It has been over 3 years since we were last here, so it was fun to see what changed. The main exhibit was really interesting, and I have to give praise to Kevin at the space station. He kept it fun and interesting as he explained everything so even the 10 year old was interested and actually sat still for several minutes. All in all a great afternoon for a family adventure.
Amber M — Google review
There are lots of cool interactive things to do, but not all working. Many exhibits broken, even on the new displays. A little disappointing, but the ones that worked were cool. Really enjoyed the IMAX.

I drove up from Calgary to see the Lego Dinosaur exhibit and was not disappointed, truly a one of a kind experience. Highly recommended, don't miss the chance to see it while it's here. Took my time and didn't rush the exhibit, as a Lego enthusiast and dino admirer this felt like it was made for me. Purple Pear was decent, no complaints and happy to have a place to sit and eat in peace within the Science Center.

Always a favorite place for my kids to visit. With new activities in the science garage, new show and demonstrations, there's always something interesting to see. But even the standard exhibits keep my kids interested every time we go.

Fort Edmonton Park

Water & Amusement Parks

Fort Edmonton Park is a 58-acre living history museum located in the North Saskatchewan River Valley, offering a journey through different eras of Edmonton's history. The park features four sections representing distinct periods: the fur trading era, settlement era, municipal era, and metropolitan era. Visitors can explore replica buildings, interact with costumed performers, enjoy pioneer games and activities like horse-drawn carriages and wagon rides. A fully functional 1919 steam train adds to the immersive experience.
We visit at least twice a year and the kids (and us) love it. It’s beautifully maintained and cared for and all the experiences feel authentic. Highlight of the park is always going on the train with the animals and Fairground close behind. With the kids being so young we stay for around 3 hours but as they grow and become more curious I can see that doubling. I also really appreciate facilities that allow you to bring food in. With the kids it’s important to get what you need when you need it and not just rely on what you can buy.
Paul H — Google review
So my first time checking it out. I decided to pay for the extra fast pass, and it was definitely worth it. I was in every attraction in 5 minutes or less with long line-ups, but not one time was I asked to show my fast pass. I was a bit disappointed that I wasn't asked, so who knows how many people are abusing this. As far as the show goes, it's an awesome place to do this at Fort Edmonton Park, but it definitely felt like more of a tame, family-oriented Halloween theme. The actors were very mellow, very quiet. Lots of rubber masks, which I find horrible. The haunts were three out of ten, not very scary, not very original. But the lighting outside was great. The idea is awesome, but the haunts were just not there. The food was expensive. I give the show a 3 out of 10. 🎃🎢🎭👎 #Halloween #Haunts #Park #Actors #Masks #Food
B R — Google review
So fun! Actors were amazing…I can not express how awesome they were! They went above and beyond making each scare personalized, bought the fast pass so worth it never waited more than 2 minutes and got to get to each haunt twice and the experience was so different from the last. The first time going to something like this and personally it was just right. Each scare was so different it made it so fun, definitely coming back.

Green onion cakes food truck was amazing. As were the mini donuts. First time there and the experience was unforgettable. Haunted house so good i went through it twice. Highly recommend. Of course the ACTORS. Played their parts extremely well. Good job to all.

A very great place for your to learn about Alberta’s own history and the history about Edmonton and how it become capital city of Alberta. The staff inside there is role play in different era and dress accordingly. They are knowledgeable and explain to us what they represent. It’s divided by era and you can either walk or take steam train which is highly recommended to walk from early era to modern times. Very fantastic place to visit in summer as they closed in winter times. Parking is easy with big parking lot. Recommend to purchase ticket in advance.
Zhaohan X — Google review
Really well done and lots to see. Too much to see actually! It’s too much to walk in a day. It took myself, my elderly father in law and my husband 4 hours to see it all. The steam engine train ride was great, but the streets and buildings are too far apart so I’m not sure how they could improve that. The staff were friendly and actors along the way were a nice addition. Nice to go on a day that’s not too hot cause you will do a lot of outside walking. Interesting experience though for all who like history!
Jodie P — Google review
Fort Edmonton Park is such a fun and educational place to visit with family! It’s the perfect spot to spend the whole day exploring, learning, and enjoying time together. There are so many activities and experiences for kids, which makes it an exciting trip for them while also being interesting for adults. From history and culture to interactive exhibits and fun rides, there’s something for everyone. A great place to make lasting memories—I highly recommend it!
Amin S — Google review
Get an early start, you need about 5 to 6 hours to see everything without being rushed. I recommend waiting in line and taking the train from the entrance to the back of the park then walk your way back to the start, the queues and wait for the steam train are the longest, approximately 30min. If you're with young kids the games will be at the end which will keep them interested rather than doing it first. The food shop serves excellent food but can take a while with limited seating, there are seats outdoors, get someone to order while someone gets a table, don't wait for your food then look for a table. After lunch you can use the tram to get between attractions rather than walk. Most games and rides are free except the pony ride.

I played here yesterday. Course was in fantastic shape overall . Tee boxes were in decent shape as well and the greens were fast. Great layout with some challenging holes, and some unforgiving rough. Took me 5 hours to play the course. I was right behind a group of 4 and had to wait a few minutes at each tee box to start, the group ahead of me did as well. I do wish the drinks cart came around more often though. She only came by early on the front 9 and I didn’t see her for the rest of the round. Overall I enjoyed my time and will be returning to this course, hopefully enjoying more drinks.😎

I hadn't been out to this course for 6 years. It looks as lovely now as the last time. I thought I had time to hit a bucket of balls waiting for family to arrive, for once the plane arrived early. I spoke with staff members Rob and Jennifer regarding the Country Club Tour pass. After been told the advantages, I will likely pick one up. It appears to be an exceptionally deal. I spoke with a couple of golfers who had finished their round and said the course was in terrific shape. I can't give a 5 until I've played the course. I look forward to playing there soon.

We had the pleasure of having our wedding at the event center here. Dean, Francis, Sarah, Emily, and Fraya are amazing to work with! Our guests can’t stop raving about the prime rib! I’m wishing for another serving now lol. Would highly recommend this venue for any events! Indoor and outdoors!

I first came here about 15 years ago — maybe even closer to when it first opened 20 years ago. I haven’t golfed here since, but it’s a very nice course. It certainly doesn’t look picturesque from the highway, but it’s much prettier once you’re out on the course. That said, the highway is still in plain view on a few holes, in other words, it’s better while you’re golfing. It’s a links-style layout with a lot of challenging holes, plenty of sand, and definitely some water to keep things interesting. If you’re not familiar with the course, the biggest challenge is the traps — they’re placed in all the spots your driver naturally wants to go, and they surround many of the greens. I seemed to find them all and I felt like I was constantly emptying sand out of my pockets — there’s that much of it! Not the course’s fault though — this was only my second round of the year, and it reminded me how much I need to work on my game. A couple of fyi while visiting — truckers flying down the freeway for one. And yep, I picked up a small chip in my windshield on the way in. Check out the traffic heading back, too — and this was on a Wednesday! In fairness to these guys-construction a city wide issue right now . . . from what I could surmise-only thing holding everything up were a couple of port-o-potties! (Not kidding, saw no actual construction) :-0 Be sure to wave to the Flaman man as you pass by! :-) I’m not rushing back, but I would play it again.

Was my first time out to this course. Is first time playing a course of this style. I will definitely be back again. I shot really well. The greens were amazing. Fairways were a joy to hit off of. TEE boxes were very well maintained. The staff were very courteous and polite. Cart girls were very attentive and came out multiple times to see if you needed a drink or a snack. A++++

Good course, open and more of a links style. Good for all skill levels. There was a cute LP competition for everyone to participate in. (See photo) The pro shop employee has been with RedTail for decades and was extremely kind and helpful when we checked in.

We had our wedding here and it was fantastic! Dean answered all of our questions throughout the process and was very helpful in making suggestions to support us. He was accommodating to us and even allowed us to choose a different food for night lunch that was not on their menu. Many guests commented on how great the food was. Francis was incredibly organized and made sure everything ran smoothly on the day of. The venue was great and fit our 200 guests well. The ceremony site was perfectly manicured and guests with mobility issues were able to be driven via golf cart by Francis. Red Tail staff are experienced and truly made everything run super smooth! We could not have asked for a better venue and experience!

Staff are always great and kind. The course has a mix of easy, medium, and hard holes, all depending on where you hit from or how well you can hit. The range is long with many different flags for you to try and hit towards. The putting greens are great for practicing, 8 holes in total along with 2 practice chipping spots. One sand and the other grass. All in all it is a great course with great karts. I have golfed there a couple times so far and definitely will again.

Nestled in the heart of Edmonton, the Muttart Conservatory is a captivating botanical attraction featuring four glass pyramids that house diverse plant collections. With over 700 plant species across different biomes, this horticultural gem offers an educational and visually stunning experience. Each pyramid represents a distinct environment, from lush tropical landscapes to arid deserts, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to explore various ecosystems without leaving the city.
What a beautiful place!! It was amazing! I enjoyed all four pyramids. So, clean, peaceful and well put together. I was very relaxed and it was very Zen like to be there. I sat in the Arid room on the comfortable chair at the entrance and felt like I was transported away. They have done a wonderful job. The flowers and grounds outside are beautiful and full of flowers everywhere!

Such a beautiful place!!! There are 4 pyramids with different plants in them! The pyramids themselves aren't huge, however there are a ton of plants in each!! I was a little sad there wasn't any butterflies however it was still worth the trip!! The parking is free, however you do have to register your plate when you go in. There are benches in the pyramids to sit and relax. There is also a cute coffee shop with tons of seating. They also have seating outside which is really nice also!! Would definitely go again :)

Some days we forget that beautiful things don’t need words. Take a moment to enjoy nature. The air is different in there somehow, take a sit and breathe and if possible ‘exhale’. Plan to figure out a way to can the fresh air. Wanted to buy a plant by I remember that plants also need love, hopefully when I come another the next time I am brave enough and love sufficient to buy one. Also, met some classy ladies and gentleman today. They all seemed so full of life and still at the same time, I took notes.

A great place to relax and get inspired! The Botanical Garden impresses with its variety of plants and flowers, well-groomed territory and peaceful atmosphere. Ideal for a walk in nature, taking photos or just a pleasant day with the family. There is also a wonderful cafe, where you can buy flowers and souvenirs. There is free parking for visitors, which can be reserved for a maximum of 6 hours.

We’ve been visiting the Muttart Conservatory for many years — sometimes just the two of us, other times with guests from out of town — and every visit continues to impress. It’s one of those rare places that immediately makes you feel relaxed and at peace the moment you walk in. The striking glass-pyramid architecture is beautiful from the outside, and once inside, you’re surrounded by lush greenery and carefully curated biomes. The Conservatory houses hundreds of plant species across four distinct pyramids — Tropical, Arid, Temperate, and a rotating Feature display that changes with the seasons. Each one offers its own unique atmosphere, scents, and colors that invite you to slow down and simply take it all in. Another thoughtful touch is the free parking right outside, which makes the visit even more enjoyable and stress-free. Inside, the attention to design and detail is remarkable — from the art-inspired entrance and courtyard to the ever-changing seasonal displays. Everything here reflects a deep care for both the plants and the visitor experience. The Muttart Conservatory has become one of our go-to places whenever we need a moment of calm or want to share something truly special with friends. It’s a perfect blend of nature, art, and tranquility — a peaceful retreat right in the heart of the city.

A must visit conservatory museum, and I was thoroughly impressed! The ample parking space made it easy to park, and the building's exterior already hinted at the beauty within. Upon entering, I was struck by the neat and well-maintained interiors. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The pyramid biomes were fascinating, showcasing a stunning array of plants from around the world. The café was a highlight, offering delicious refreshments and a cozy atmosphere. But what truly stole the show was the beautifully planted floor garden at the entrance to the museum.A small souvenir shop is also present that has good collectables. I highly recommend this plant conservatory museum to anyone who loves nature, botany, or just needs a peaceful retreat.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Fleur de Villes display. Absolutely stunning displays. It was a curated event displaying 15 florists from Edmonton. Such wonderful talented individuals we have. We enjoyed wandering through all the pyramids and want to go it more often. In December there is usually a Christmas poinsettia display in the show pavilion.

Came here for a work project outside the front of the centre and went into the centre for a burger at the loft, huge rec centre with curling rinks and a hockey rink and a gym for pickleball or badminton. The burger at the loft restaurant upstairs was very good, probably one of the best burgers ive had in a long time, the patties were juicy and the gentleman running the loft restaurant was great and informative about the food including the meat being halal, very friendly and was joking with him about having a beer going back outside for work.i will definitely be going to the leduc rec centre again just for the burgers at "the loft",I will go out of my way wherever I am in leduc and have a burger here, very cheap as well the double loft burger with bacon cost me 13$.great service, friendly people and amazing tasting food for a cheap price will definitely keep me a fan of this place for life.

A wonderland of fun-tastic discoveries and imagination. So much better than the snake filled swimming hole I grew up with. This place had NO snakes and NO broken glass. Also... Tons of water!!! Like gallons of water - and all perfectly contained. Nothing at all like the dirt filled swimming hole I grew up with... You can really swim in this place and it's all nice and legal!

Great place! The atmosphere is beautifully calm. I had my son complete his summer 1 lesson here, and it was a great experience. The instructor is very good and professional. He completed it with an actual certification document 😂. Unlike the last center that he did not receive anything for completion.

It's too far from us for me to give it four stars but there's a nice pool here with one big water slide (adults cannot go with small children) and four small slides in the wading pool (great for ages 5 and under) some of the spray features were not working when we went but the ones that were on were nice. There's a rope swing and climbing wall in the deep end for big kids that can do their lap (without a life jacket for the wall) and a lot of space in the deeper pool (seems like no one took large floaties to that side so I'm not sure it's allowed). One of the best features here is that they have two hot tubs! I think this is great because one can get pretty crowded sometimes. The indoor playground is small, mostly designed for 5 and under.

Had an unpleasant experience with a manager leissa she is really rude doesn't know how to behave n very disrespectful lady Unprofessional management worst place zero ratings. I was told I had to stay with my child all time in a way that felt unnecessarily forceful and inappropriate. While I understand the importance of supervision, the way the lifeguard communicated was unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable. I believe staff should be trained to enforce rules in a respectful, clear, and courteous manner. This experience left me feeling uncomfortable, will never go back and I hope steps can be taken to ensure better communication in the future.

I recently attended preschool 3 at the Leduc Recreation Centre with instructor’s Mila . Unfortunately, the instructor appeared unprofessional and very disorganized, which made the session confusing and frustrating. There was no clear structure or guidance, and it felt like little effort was put into preparing the class. She often seemed unprepared and gave very little guidance, which made it difficult to follow along. I felt she just came to have fun. Didn't even try to do any effort to help the kids improve any skills. I wish I will never see her again training my kids.

I don’t know what about all those reviews in here, but we were on this course on 22 of September, and course is in a great shape! Friendly staff, lots of options of snacks (lady with snack cart was driving around all the time, and between 9th and 10th hole there’s snack shack, you can quickly grab something and go straight to the hole. Nice to see Marshall on the course. Definitely we will be back. This is the top 100 rated golf courses in Canada, because of who designed it. And in our opinion, it’s the best looking course in the area, especially from the drone.

Went to review this course and couldn't believe it's a 3.8. One of the nicest and most interesting courses I've played in Alberta. Greens were fast and true and the rest was well kept. The pro at the proshop was super nice and helpful, and the server the restaurant was really sweet.
Elliot H — Google review
Great experience. I played the old course 23 years ago as a junior and came back for a stop on our golf trip. It's just as challenging as I remember. It was in amazing condition. Fairways were beautiful. Greens were rolling and we had an 8am tee time. Lots of placement shots which make for a very special round. Can't beat the staff, they were all professional and very accommodating. The clubhouse is phenomenal. Don't drive past this one your whole life. Stop one day and see what a course playing the natural lay of the land in that area is all about. Great Great round. We didn't play the links so can't speak for that. This will be a regular stop on our newly founded years trips to mid and southern Alberta

Played the front nine on the Old Golf Course with 3 others. Had a very good time....a bit of walking is required because you can't drive the cart on several of the fairways, The fairways and putting greens were in excellent condition. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Had a nice dinner on the deck...average price was slightly over $20....comparable to most restaurants.

We’re here on a week long trip from the States. We saw the pictures from June, and we had pretty low expectations for this course. While there are still some patches, the tee boxes, fairways, and greens are looking so much better. The course was totally playable and is a great track! As they nurse the greens back, they were a little slow as well. The back 9 on the Links course is an awesome design! There weren’t many people on the course, so we were able to play pretty quickly. It’s time to give Wolf Creek another look!
Nathan G — Google review
The premier track that you remember, is dead. Played 9th June, the course looks like a course that was in receivership at the end of last season. The club house, carts, course, are in complete disrepair. This used to be a great course, but those days are gone, the new owners better have them some deep pockets, because to get this course back is gonna cost.
M H — Google review
The facility appears very aged and highly suggest a renovation to maintain golfing expectation standards. Downstairs bathroom stall door locks are broken. Appears for a while. The men’s club area downstairs looks like a storage area. The cart paths are very aged and difficult directions to understand. Example hole 16 and 18. The fairways and greens were awesome. Great layout. Challenging. The golf course itself I loved. The facility would like attention too.
Troy H — Google review
I played roughly 20 rounds this year and it is the hardest course I ever played. The facility need to be updated. And the only reason I gave 3 stars is because today was so freaking hot and the I only see the staff once on the course and the machine was not working. If the machine is not working, due to the weather like that. The players deserve at least one free drinks for water.

Jurassic Forest is a 40-acre outdoor education center and prehistoric preservation site that features life-size, realistic models of multiple dinosaur species. The forest is dotted with these models and visitors can partake in guided tours, play mini-golf or engage in paleontological activities such as digging for dinosaur bones. It is an ideal place to take kids for a day out of the city where they can explore and learn about dinosaurs while enjoying the natural surroundings.
We had a super fun afternoon; the weather was very helpful. The hike was perfect for getting to know the different kinds of dinosaurs that existed, and we were able to learn a little more about them. After taking the two hikes, since you'll have the opportunity to walk through two different parts and observe the beautiful landscape and learn a little about each animal you see, we were able to play golf. It was a lot of fun. To finish the day, we had some sodas since they have food service.

We just spent one night "glamping" at Jurassic Forest and had an amazing experience. The staff were so friendly, interesting, helpful, and knowledgeable, and the entire site was fantastic. Clean, well-maintained, and even the weather cooperated for us! Our tent was spacious and warm, and the 24hr washrooms with running water were much appreciated. The dinosaur animatronics are so cool, and the thoughtful details of the place really made us feel like we were visiting the real Jurassic Park. Highly recommend this place for families to check out this little gem, especially for dinosaur fanatics. My 8-year old was enamored and we can't wait to visit again! ❤️

Me and my family had so much fun. We explored, learnt so much about dinosaurs, plants, insects and just cool fun facts about animals. The dinosaurs excited us every turn with there animation and sounds. They brought the Forrest to life. My brother in law works hard in the park and it was so nice to come and see him too.
Tiffany-Lynn S — Google review
Our little guy is obsessed with dinosaurs and had an absolute blast walking through their different paths and seeing all of the Dino’s. It’s really great for kids with the giant sand pit in the middle with some “bones” buried so the kids can go discover them. Lots of parking in the parking lot too. Would highly recommend to all parents with kids that like dinosaurs!
Alex W — Google review
I loved this place! Thought it would be hokey but it wasn't. It is well planned out and we'll taken care of. Took one set of grandkids in the summer and another set in the fall. Not sure what time of year I liked better as the view of the dinosaurs was easier in the fall but the coolness of the trees in the hot summer was lovely. Grandkids loved it. There are well maintained boardwalks to use as you walk through the forest. Nice playground that allows uncovering dinosaur bones. I loved this place and tell all my friends about it.
Shelley K — Google review
At the price point it's a solid five stars. Essentially this is mainly a set of wooden boardwalks going through a forest with dinosaur statues (many animatromic or with sound). There are also a few other prehistoric creatures like wooly mammoths, saber-toothed tigers, and giant insects. I also enjoyed the nature signs about many nearby and current dwelling plants, which were informative and educational. Any age could enjoy this but I'd say mainly preschool age kids were present. We spent approx a total of two hours here, but bring a picnic and visit the playground to easily make a morning or afternoon. They do have an indoor washroom, a small concession, a mini golf course, and a little giftshop.
Danelle W — Google review
Visiting Jurassic Forest was such a fun and memorable experience! It’s the perfect mix of adventure, education, and outdoor fun — great for families, kids, or anyone who loves dinosaurs and nature. The trails are beautiful and easy to walk, surrounded by real forest and life-sized dinosaur displays that look incredibly realistic. The sound effects make it feel like you’ve stepped back in time! There are also interactive areas and educational signs that make learning about prehistoric life exciting and accessible for all ages. Whether you’re a dino lover or just looking for a unique day trip near Edmonton, Jurassic Forest is absolutely worth the visit. Bring your camera, a sense of curiosity, and be ready for a roar-some adventure!

Our end-of-year field trip was an absolute blast, thanks largely to our guide, Kaylee! 🤩 She was incredibly knowledgeable and kept the kids captivated with her interactive approach – the day just flew by! 🚀 I'd highly recommend this place even for a family outing, not just school groups. There are tons of self-guided activities that'll keep your kids busy and happy. 🎉 And seriously, the food prices are amazing! 🍔🍟🥤 An $8 hot dog, fries, and pop combo is unheard of these days. They've got a great selection, including delicious homemade lemonades, making for a truly fantastic experience. 🍋 We even got to build birdhouses (and I think you can paint them too!). 🐦🎨 That was a ton of fun, though a bit noisy first thing in the morning with all those little hammers! 😂🔨

Spent the September long weekend here camping. First the positives... Clean warmish lake with plenty of clean soft sand. A roped off area for kids/swimming that isn't deep. Beautiful large pull through site in D loop. Lots of trees. Free sewer disposal. A gas station just outside the park with all sorts of things to buy plus great pizza and ice cream. A great beach to take kids. The negatives. Absolutely NO cell service phone or internet anywhere. You have to drive up to Gold Happy gas station on the highway to make calls and go a few miles down the road to get internet. Showers had dirty floors covered in dirt and hair and cost $1 for 2.5 minutes. The women's had hot water and decent spray but one stall with no door lock. The mens had wimpy spray and some were out of order or ice cold. Not much for patrols by park rangers. Someone was setting off either fireworks or loud bear bangers after 11pm one night which was disruptive. Beach got crowded. Motorized boats were largely ignorant coming too close to canoes and people floating when they could have gone far away given the lake is big. Wasps were horrific. Outdoor toilets were pitch black with no lights. The showers had sinks and no soap or hand sanitizer. C loop had a children's park but the RVs in the loop were packed in like sardines with no privacy and a full beach (campers only). The campground was full and is spread out over loops A, B, C, D, E, and F, making most of it unwalkable. The playgrounds are only really accessible by driving depending on the loop you are in. Same thing with the shower building located near the beginning of the park. You have to drive there, five to 8 minutes depending on your loop. Ditto for the beach. You need to drive there if you want to take floaties or have kids to haul. It's too far to walk. Overall the really nice beach has to be weighed against the lack of cell service and other inconveniences.

Pro: Lots of lake front camp sites. Varying sites (some hilly, some in the open, some in between trees, some right at the water, some close to each other, some further apart). Water is relatively clean. Road is well maintained. Check-in process was quick and easy. Great walking trail along the length of the lake. There is a place to rent paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, peddle boat. Nice little beach area. Great day area and overnight stay. There is concession stand and grocery store— didn’t go in so don’t know the extent of items they may have. Cons: because of the water the is A LOT of bugs so be prepared for that. Some sites can use a bit more space between. Some RV sites directly obstruct lake views for a lot of people which is unfortunate. Lot of the area doesn’t have reception so it’s hard to keep in touch with family that couldn’t make it camping. At the dump area the fresh water you have to hold the handle while it fills and it fills extra slow… took us 25 min for an average tank size. I understand the safety reason for that but maybe a different system or a faster system would be better instead of holding it for so long? Otherwise dump station is very accessible and generally clean. Bathrooms are outhouses, unfortunately no flushing toilets. Our fire pit was full of ash when we arrived.

Beautiful scenery! We had our camper that was 37 feet so the camp site we had was not private at all and only had power. There was some private ones around the camp ground but for tents or smaller campers. Fire place could have been dug out and pinic table was worn down greatly. The swimming area isn't large and doesn't look the cleanest but we swam. Showers are loonies and the water was perfect. The shower curtain is half in the shower if you close it... leave it opened and just shut the door to the changing space outside of the shower. Bathrooms were clean. Everyone was very nice and being so close to the water made up for most shortcomings. Bathrooms near by were not bad. The public beach wasn't that big but it was nice. Store was closed on a Tuesday-so change for loonies had to be made at the little shack when you enter. They can only change money for money... not off credit or debit. There is a Playground on beach which is basic but kids enjoyed it. Northern lights made an appearance. 11pm everyone is quieter, but thankfully people are still out

Great place, a beautiful walking path around the lake, and loved kayaking on the lake. We rented a kayak for two for 40$/hour (life jackets included). We saw plenty of birds and even one pelican in the middle of the lake 🥰🦆🦤 Concession had tasty snacks, too. We had a breakfast sandwich.

Really nice campground. Sites have lots of space between them so you don't feel like you are in your neighbors space. Restrooms were cleaned everyday. We were in area E which had a playground and beach. We also backed onto the lake. It would be a busy area in the summer but we were there in September. Great walking trail thru the park.

We had a nice site, we'll treed, very quiet. From the map it looked close to the water, but it turned out the lake is well below these sites. D147. Otherwise, the playgrounds and swim areas are great. The biking & hiking are superb. Water was warm and clean.

A wonderful local gem. Run by locals, frequented by locals - brings out the charm of Camrose. The photo is of the chocolate baklava!! Too much into enjoying my food and my visit to take photos of our chicken sandwich lunch! My "surprise me" soda beverage was empty, because it also was delicious! All around fabulous

Golf Courses
Nestled in the heart of the Rockies, Coal Creek Golf Resort is a top-tier golf destination in Alberta, Canada. The 18-hole championship course offers a challenging yet picturesque terrain with stunning mountain views. The layout incorporates natural elements, featuring elevation changes, fairway bunkers, and deep rough for a unique golfing experience. While some find it more suitable for low handicappers due to its setup on certain days, others appreciate its well-maintained condition and friendly staff.
I have played this course whenever I get the chance since the first time I played for a tournament. Having worked previously in the turf maintenance side of golf courses this course is truly always in tip top shape. Greens will be rolling fast and true even through neccesary evils like aeration and top dressing. The entire course is always striped nicely and the fescue is maintained to the point your more likely to find a lost ball than a weed when you hit it off line. Bunkers with black sand are a great contrast and very easy for an inexperienced player to hit from as its very light and easy to slide a club under the ball. Over and above the golf course conditions, the course is very reasonable on pricing not only on greens fees but food and bev as well. Food is always great and service friendly in the proshop + restaurant. Compared to most the course is in the middle of nowhere but makes it even more of a gem. It is a 3.5-4 hour drive from where I am from but will make it at least twice a year to play this club I am so impressed with the course. If you are anywhere remotely in the area this is a MUST PLAY!! One of the best courses in the province and truly a treat of a resort course!
Dustin G — Google review
This is a fantastic course. So well maintained and very challenging. Definitely worth a trip once a year. Being cart path only kinda took away from it a bit. Should have a cart path on both sides with crossings. There are also very little trees for shade.
Steven G — Google review
Played here twice this year and both times it was great. The first time was a challenge for sure but coming back for some revenge and knowing the course a bit made a massive difference. We played some pretty high winds this time and still had a blast. Had lunch before our round, food was excellent and the clubhouse and restaurant staff were very friendly and a casual but professional atmosphere. The course itself is totally unique, it will make you use every shot in your bag. There is next to no shade so just be aware of that. We had no issue with it and it was 28 degrees.
Justin S — Google review
This course was truly a pleasure to play. It was challenging without being too hard to play, and they really incorporate the old mining equipment into the surroundings The course is in impeccable shape especially considering the low green fees. I was shocked at how cheap it was compared to the amazing course conditions All the staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. Overall and amazing experience and definetly worth the trip out of town.
Nathan T — Google review
What a gem! Played here today for the first time. Well worth the hour drive from Leduc. Greens were immaculate, and even the fescue was maintained, making it easier to find balls off the fairway. The black bunkers are also a nice touch! Only thing that could have been better was if the snack shack was open at the turn, but that's minor. Will be back!
AC87 — Google review
Grounds in very good condition, Greens super fast, all the staff are nice to talk with. Great value for a 1 hour drive from Edmonton
Dan S — Google review
The course was impeccable.. One of the best courses in Northern Alberta without a doubt. But the food needs an upgrade.. Hamburger buns on a breakfast sandwich? Cmon guys, about as cheap as it gets. I’m still giving Coal Creek 5 stars though because the Golf is amazing!
Mike G — Google review
Excellent course. Ine if my top 5 in the Edmonton area for sure. Bit of a drive, but worth it. Nice patio space at clubhouse. Good selection of beers and decent food. Golf course is always in great shape and it is challenging if your not having a great day. Putting is always a tough time here.

Vegreville Pysanka

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Vegreville Pysanka is a colossal sculpture of a pysanka, an intricately decorated egg with origins in Slavic cultures. This Ukrainian-designed giant Easter egg was crafted by Canadian artist Paul Maxym Sembaliuk and serves as a weather vane, rotating with the wind's direction. The area surrounding the Pysanka offers scenic views, free boat rentals, and a serene park with amenities like parking, public washrooms, and a visitor center.
Visited this charming little gem on Easter Sunday and absolutely loved it! Vegreville’s Elks/Kinsmen Park is the perfect weekend getaway spot—peaceful, scenic, and full of small-town charm. There’s a cute trail around a small lake, which was great for a relaxing stroll. The park also has a red train caboose on display that adds a unique historic touch—great for photos! But the highlight for me was definitely the giant Pysanka (Ukrainian Easter egg)—an absolutely stunning piece of art and such a meaningful cultural landmark. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing walk, a place to picnic with family, or just want to see something unique, this park is a must-visit. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re anywhere near Vegreville!

🥚✨ Stopped by the Vegreville Pysanka — the world’s largest Ukrainian Easter egg — and it did not disappoint! Such a stunning landmark, full of detail and history. Perfect spot for photos, a picnic, or just to stretch your legs on a road trip. Definitely worth the stop if you’re driving east of Edmonton! 🚗📸

Very nice park with a lot of amenities. Paddle boats in the pond. Nice trails. Washrooms. Concession. There is a CN train you can go I side to look at.

Just an hour east from Edmonton, stand the largest egg in the world. Ukrainian Pysanka. Going there on a sunny day would make a great picnic place. There is a small lake that you can rent a boat, kids park with all monkey bars, slides and other fun activities. Or you can simply sit on the grass and enjoy watching Canada Geese. Gift shop had lots of great stuff to offer.
Vera Z — Google review
This egg (pysanka) was just amazing too see! I love its architecture and its design. Although there was nobody there, it was a great advantage for a good photoshoot in the sunset, there is also a park with a lake behind the egg. I would personally recommend this for anyone who wants a road tril thats a bit near edmonton
Nathan — Google review
This is an interesting way of celebrating Ukrainian peoples settling in this area and contributing to build it up, farms and towns. The history behind it was that ukrainians had settled in this area and in 1974, as part of an acknowledgment of the RCMP making the area safe, this interesting Easter egg feature was dedicated. An interesting feature is that it responds to the wind similar to a weather vane period as the wind blows it actually moves and changes direction.

Pretty cool. They have paddle boats and a few other things to do. Beautiful park.

What a lovely place to go for a walk in Lloydminster. There are plenty of gravel trails to choose from. The pond is beautiful with its fountains. There are lots of benches around the paved paths around the park. There seems to be something to do for everyone, including sports courts and a kids' playground. I was there off-season, so I personally only used the walking trails. They are kept clear, which is nice. A very clean park. Washrooms are now closed for the season. I am from Ontario and was here 3 years ago. This park is the same as then. It's worth the visit, in my opinion.

This place is fantastic for family gatherings, walking, running, and practicing yoga or meditation. The facilities are top-notch, including a well-maintained tennis court and volleyball court. Awesome park in the heart of Lloydminister, decent walking trails, various facilities for all ages, aquatic centre, tennis playgrounds, sandy volleyball courts, splash park, few landmarks to view. seating spots and water fountains are there. some renovations are being made.

This an absolute must see for everyone. The park has beautiful trails, a man made lake with fish, an amphitheater, spray park, indoor swimming pool and much much more! You will not be disappointed with this place! The staff should enforce the rules better, such as wearing proper swim gear, showering and basic pool etiquette but overall it's a good place.

Picnic areas are separated in 2 group areas. One with the playground I suspect is the family with fire pits situated with tables close by. 6 Tennis courts with a new surface. Baseball diamonds too! Frisbee golf. And a lot of open space to fly kites and toss a ball.

Nice little park. Has a bumpy asphalt trail threw it and a very nice dirt trail that goes all the way around the park, both trails go past two beautiful ponds. This park also has a nice playset for kids, baseball diamonds, tennis courts and a swimming pool. Awesome place to spend the day with the family or to go for a run at.

Went for lunch, had a very good meal, very good service. It was slow, but we were warned that they had a large group in and it would be slow. My only complaint, the smell of smoke as we waited for out table.

After my experience and talking to some people at the casino, save your money! I have seen some big wins when I was there but they all had one thing in common. I think my type get the occasional good win but any big win isn't by anyone of European descent. Call me racist or whatever you want, i know what i have seen. That is pretty much the consensus across the board with any of my friends that go there. Time for all of us to stay out of there. Let them profit off their own. The best thing about this casino is the staff working the floor, but even great people can't make up for what I have seen. It's so bad lately I am surprised Indians even come here anymore! Legal theft is all it is to line pockets of those in charge. Worse even than I can imagine if it's as rigged as the games. I wish people would stay out and drive these crooked casinos bankrupt.

security team 😤 I came from bc to Saskatchewan to come play and seen a open game so I put my 50cents and some girl comes and said I stole her machine and wanted 7.50 from me and I ended up getting kicked out and my relatives work there and the way I got treated but next day gave the security 10dollars..and was told not to come back..so be aware of that casino. Just because she spends a lot of money on there machine and I just put my 50cemt that was it discrimination shame on them they shouldn't do that to ppl. Especially coming from a long way..so don't spend nothing and the food is gross i found long hair in my salad and didn't get a refund..

We stopped at this casino because we noticed it along the highway. Not very much of a gambler but can say that it is a decent sized casino. Not as big as others but big enough. There is a smoking and non-smoking side in the casino. The Siga Lager beer was actually pretty good and the prices are ok, most casinos charge a little more for beer. Other than that, the staff were very friendly and joke around with you. Will definitely be back when I travel down that way again 👍🏼

Had an amazing meal at the Kihiw Restaurant. Our waitress was just lovely. She was completely professional, yet friendly and attentive without being annoying. Western Development Museum (WDM) - North Battleford

Specialty Museums
Years have passed since my previous visit to the Western Development Museum (WDM) - North Battleford as a child. However, recently I had the opportunity to explore it with my own children. We thoroughly enjoyed walking through the various exhibits and immersing ourselves in the historical atmosphere, almost like stepping into a time capsule. It was particularly fascinating for my kids to witness the train, post office, law office, and other exhibits that showcased life in its prime.
It’s been years since taking a tour here as a child now with my own children we took the time to walk through all the things to see and they thoroughly enjoyed it. Just seeing all the history like a time capsule really have my kids the experience of actually being there in its hay days. The train and small set up with post office law office and many other great exhibits were so fun along with some small family homes to walk through. Definitely a must do with the family.

I wasn’t expecting much when I stopped by the Western Development Museum in Lloydminster but wow, what a surprise! became a Memory. It’s such a cool place that really brings history to life. From old tractors and old cars to displays that show what daily life looked like back. Everything is set up in a way that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into the past. The staff was very friendly and happy to answer questions. I can certainly say they genuinely care about preserving local history. I must say that It’s a great spot for families, history lovers or anyone passing through. It's definitely worth a visit I ended up staying longer than I planned.

Its been maybe 35 years since my last visit to the old display. I was rather disapointed that the inside display areas were so limitrd to the old layout. I was looking forward to seeing some old family donations of various items, but the new design has replaced the old displays. Still worth the reminder of days gone by.

One of the best museums in Saskatchewan! So much to see indoors and outdoors. Almost all buildings were open to view, with the exception of 2. Incredibly clean and well kept, lot of parking, picnic areas and very reasonable rates. Great friendly staff! Easily spent 2 hours walking to all the buildings and going in! Well worth the time!

What a great hands on experience learning about Saskatchewan in the early days. Fantastic place to visit and I highly recommend stopping rather than driving past. You won’t be disappointed. $10 for adults and worth every penny. I learned a lot and appreciate and respect what the early settlers had to endure. Very strong people.

Went to both the Sakatoon and the North Battleford locations of the Western Development Museum - each had a focus on different aspects and were well worth the visit. The North Battleford location had an incredible outdoor village which was amazing to explore! And my son got a scavenger hunt to complete to win a prize. It was one of the cleanest, most well run museums I've ever been to. Truly worth the visit!

The staff was INCREDIBLE! It was so beautiful out there and the activities were so much fun. We had our 11 years old birthday party out there and she said it was her best birthday ever. We spent 8 hours and the kids had fun the entire time. We have been to two bush parties as well, very chill and relaxed, epic music, food and drinks. All experiences were a lot of fun. We went to Blue Mountain for 2 days. Nice place to get away from the city crowd. Relaxing surronding. Lots of mosquitoes 😅. Toilet flush was not working at the Sleepy Hollow. We compalined about it. But they were not able to fix it. They assure us that next time we won't face such problem and also gave us 1 night credit for our next visit. No mobile network at this place.

Great adventures. We did 500m and 250 zip lining. 750m was closed due to wind. So call before you go there. Instructors were a bit rude. We paid for this service so they should be nice to your customers.

My most recent trip to Blue Mountain was short and sweet. I only had a little over a day to get away from the city, but it was well worth it. My cabin was beautiful, with huge windows and a sweet little loft. I spent my time there writing letters, sipping tea, spending time on the water, and getting to know some of the staff. I also got rained on while out on one of my walks, which felt perfect -- it reminded me of going to camp as a child. I intend to spend much more of my time there in the future, it is absolutely worth checking out!

The Western Development Museum (WDM) in Saskatoon is a top attraction, offering a journey through Saskatchewan's history. The museum features various exhibits such as Boomtown, showcasing the province's economic activity at the turn of the century, and the Transportation Gallery with diverse modes of transportation. Additionally, visitors can explore galleries on topics like Whitecap Dakota First Nation and 100 Years of Saskatchewan History.
Nice museum to spend time with family Lots of effort and love has been put into place to make this museum being a reality I love museums and this was a really nice one in it’s category Many old cars beautifully refurbished Display of Old fashioned Saskatchewan cities in 1900s with meticulous attention to all the details of the stores, cars, pharmacy, etc. It could add to the fun if mannequins of people with real dress codes of those times existed in there. There was one mannequin of a police officer that was cool.

Great nostalgic experience, I loved going as a kid love spending the afternoon with my family there as an adult. My only regret is that we missed the Saskatoon berry pie in the dining room because we didn't realize what time this place closed. Great gift shop, great staff, some of the displays do need some work, but overall a wonderfully educational and good family experience.

The Western Development Museum offers an outstanding experience in a truly beautiful setting. I was deeply impressed by the way it presents the history and transformation of Canada’s heritage and culture in such a realistic manner. The exhibits on agriculture, railways, healthcare, communication, lifestyle, trade, policing, and the justice system are remarkable. Each presentation is carefully crafted with a perfect blend of environment, color, nature, and sound, making the entire visit captivating and memorable. I highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in exploring Canada’s past.

Fantastic old style museum. Loads of great exhibits and items to see. Visitors can walk through various period displays. There are four exhibits: There is boomtown street, a history of Saskatchewan area, an old cars section, and a farm equipment area. Absolutely worth the price of admission.

I visited this museum during my trip to Saskatoon and really enjoyed it. It was great seeing some of the older cars on display. The farm equipment exhibits were quite interesting, and I liked walking down Boomtown street to see what some of the old buildings looked like. They even had some things there from my own childhood in the 80s and 90s. They also have a nice gift shop where I picked up a couple of souvenirs. There’s a diner on site as well. Overall, it was a fun and worthwhile stop if you’re interested in some local history.

Lots of very detailed exhibits displaying early town life, lots of antique farm equipment and cars and trains, and exhibits on the history of the province through the 20th century. I appreciated the inclusion of Indigenous history as well. Surprised by the volume of artifacts.

Had a great time visiting the museum this week. Hadn't been there since I was a kid. We especially enjoyed chatting with the volunteers. The knowledge these volunteers have is so impressive and is the reason for the 5⭐ review.

I have come several times over the years. The museum does exactly what it says it will. It covers the settlement of Saskatchewan by European since the turn of the 20th century with a strong focus in vehicles and machinery. Recent efforts to include Indigenous experiences have added to the narrative have improved the overall coverage of different experiences of settlement. I recently returned as a toddler and found it was a bit too old for him. My wife and I had to spend a lot of time stopping him from climbing on the cars. He really loved the model trains amd being able to climb into the steam engine.

Most beautiful hotel I've had the privilege of staying at. Clean, modern, quiet tranquil view watching the deer graze. Friendly service with a smile. Was so good that I didn't want to leave. I've got to come back here and my whole family. Absolutely love the art & murals on the walls! I love that they are very proud to be Indigenous. For me that made this experience even better. As I love supporting Indigenous own businesses. I highly recommend you stay here at Dakota Dunes!

Great hospitality here and had the pleasure of enjoying the March SIGA burger special (half off) and some of Amber draught. Burger was hearty, balanced well with lettuce tomato and onion, and chips were nice in crispy! Service took a little bit, but the food and venue were so nice the slightly slow service was not a bother at all 😊

Advice: they should give out comp room offers to those of us who gamble with them a lot. Every other casino that has a hotel/reaort attached that I've played at has given me room offers, why not here?? It would bring back players far more often!!

Sights & Landmarks
The University of Saskatchewan, established in 1907, is a prominent public research university renowned for its medical programs. Situated on a sprawling 750-hectare site overlooking the South Saskatchewan River, the campus hosts around 15,000 students and features notable landmarks like the Diefenbaker Canada Centre. The university's influence contributes to Saskatoon's youthful energy and cultural vibrancy, attracting top minds worldwide with cutting-edge technology such as the Canadian Light Source synchrotron.
During my stay in Saskatoon, the University of Saskatchewan has been the most impressive highlight for me. As the leading university in the entire province, it is equipped with strong faculty resources and excellent teaching facilities. Walking around the campus, I could see how well designed and modern the classrooms and buildings are, which makes me feel that studying here would be a great choice. However, the College of Medicine has a rather conservative admission policy — only about 10% of seats are reserved for out-of-province applicants. This means that my child will likely not have the opportunity to study medicine here.

A public university of Canada with good ranking in QS list. Occupies a large area with many hudge buildings which were purpose built and orderly arranged. Faculty is highly experienced and was busy in teaching and research activites. Administrative staff is well organised. Students were decent with learning faces. No one came across with poor manners during visit. Most of students were busy in learning or assessment activities.

University is BS. We (students) pay the salaries of professors who cannot be bothered to provide quality instruction. Especially to graduate students. This university has fallen into the deceipt of progressiveism which is going to spell extremely bad news for the future of this academic institutions, as it has been for so many others.

The grounds and buildings are beautiful and scenic and are a nice place for a stroll. We only toured around the grounds so my rating is based on that alone.

It was a university right at Saskatoon - not too far from the airport/ downtown/ museums and music shops. The gates are beautiful! It is the university where my friends and family studied/ study. I love the architecture and some of its buildings. We have been to the dinosaur museum, the observatory, the union - the basement has burgers, wraps, coffee and different kinds of food/ drinks.

Wanuskewin is a cultural complex dedicated to honoring the history and artwork of First Nations people. It is built around 21 Northern Plains peoples' pre-contact sites, with a 6,000-year-old archaeological park that is on track to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the next few years. The site offers educational trails, ongoing archaeological digs, an amphitheater for First Nations performances, and free workshops for traditional crafts like drum-making and tipi-building.
Enjoyed my visit here during my trip through Saskatoon. The displays were very informative and educational about Indigenous people and their history. The museum is also surrounded by some lovely trails with beautiful views. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area.

Beautiful building and grounds. Some things didn't seem to be working and the larger gallery was being set up. We really enjoyed the hoop dance presentation. Wish list items. We really liked the logo. I wish there was more merchandise that was special to the site itself or with the logo. Other than some shirts (kids sizes) that were mostly sold out there was nothing more than the usual gift shop items. It would be great if there was additional seating or the museum walking stools available. It would also be amazing if there was a way to tour people with mobility limitations around a few sites along the trails.

Please stop by if you are ever in the area. This beautifully curated Indigenous location is so worth your time! Nestled on the banks of the North Saskatchewan, there is so much to do and see. The indoor displays are stunning and interactive. The walking trails are easy to navigate and very interesting including a buffalo jump and magnificent playground. You could easily spend several hours here. We were there for about 2 hours and didn’t do everything available to us - will definitely go back. The gift store sells authentic Indigenous treasures so bring your pocketbook. I think my favorite artifact was the teepee made from hide and stitched together - stunning!

I had a wonderful experience visiting Wanuskewin Heritage Park. The environment is truly beautiful and serene. Watching the bison running together across the field was an unforgettable sight and brought me so much joy. I also really enjoyed the live presentations showcasing Indigenous culture — they were both engaging and enriching. Overall, it was a memorable visit that I would highly recommend to anyone.

An indigenous cultural centre with displays, trails, and bisons viewing. A restaurant onsite is good. Lots of school programs there making the place livid with kids and noise. A must to visit.

This place displays history of Saskatchewan and Native tribal people here. Real archeological site digging artifacts are displayed here. A lot of parking, gift and souvenir shop from locals, washrooms and a restaurant is available here.

This is simply a magical place. It is a must see if you're visiting Saskatoon. The museum is excellent. Very kid friendly with recently added playground. The walking trails are week maintained and simply beautiful prairie and riverbank. You can also take in the medicine wheel, petroglyphs, teepee rings, or bison heard.

I recently visited Wanuskewin, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience, even on a cold day! There’s so much to see and do indoors that it turned out to be the perfect winter activity. The guided tour was a highlight—since it was too cold for an outdoor walk, the staff thoughtfully arranged an indoor experience. We learned all about the bison, how every part of the animal was used, and the traditional hunting methods. It was fascinating and so well presented! We also had the chance to see a traditional dance performance, which was beautiful and powerful—a real cultural highlight. The food at the restaurant was great. And the boutique is a gem. Overall, the visit was educational, entertaining, and deeply enriching. The warmth and knowledge of the staff made it an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a local or a visitor, Wanuskewin Park is a must-see!

Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park & Zoo is a picturesque destination that offers a blend of natural beauty and wildlife encounters. The park features an array of mammals, reptiles, birds, and insects, making it an ideal spot for animal enthusiasts. Families can also enjoy the woodland-themed playground with various attractions like slides, climbing rocks, and a boat for imaginative play. The park's wide paved walking paths are stroller-friendly and safe for children to explore.
I visited the zoo during my trip to Saskatoon, and it turned out to be an enjoyable stop. There was a variety of animals to see and different spots to explore. One of the highlights was the butterfly exhibit-I had never been to one before and to see them so close. The surrounding park area was also a nice visit. I enjoyed going for a walk through the area and seeing the gardens and flowers after seeing the animals. Overall, it was a great way to spend an afternoon and worth checking out if you’re in the area.
Patricia L — Google review
A great way to spend a day out! Cheap admission, loved the train ride, the ringtailed lemurs and the butterfly pavilion were our favorites. (Wear bright colors and sweet scents and they may land on you!) The animals seem very well cared for. There is a request for donations to expand the bear enclosure, and I can see why—poor dude was circling the tree the whole time. The staff want to improve their quality of life and have clearly done the best they can, with things like the swimming hole and ball toy, so I feel comfortable supporting them so they can succeed. I hope they get the donations they need.

I love this place for my grandchildren, It's a small zoo but perfect for little legs. The best time to visit in the morning before it gets too hot. Although it is a place to see animals, I really enjoyed the flowers.

The Saskatoon Forestry Farm & Zoo is quite different from a typical zoo experience. While the number of animals is smaller compared to larger zoos, the grounds cover a vast area and offer a lot to explore. Riding the train around the park was a fun way to see everything. The natural forested surroundings are beautiful and make the visit enjoyable and relaxing. A great place to spend time outdoors with family.

One of the main attractions is the Sand Dunes Trail, which provides stunning views of mesmerizing dunes that are perfect for photo opportunities. My family and I went here last weekend. One of the best campsites! Staffs are super nice from then front desk, rangers, janitors etc.. the service is superb! Also the washrooms are super clean! It looks like they clean the washroom every 15mins. We’ll definitely go back! 💯 Also the ice cream is so good! The people there are also very nice!

My first visit to Canada and my friend brought me out to the Sand Dunes for a hike. Super beautiful, well maintained, quiet, and thoroughly enjoyable. We did the short route which was about 2 miles in and 2 back out, depending on how far into the Dunes you go. We brought a little lunch and blanket to sit and have lunch after. Would def recommend!

Beautiful fall camping! Quiet, peaceful and so much scenery! No water, and no sani dump (go to Elbow fire hall for that) but there are 30/50 amp hookups. On Oct. 13 we also got to see an amazing comet!

Excellent Provincial Park near Saskatoon. They have great campgrounds and very fascinating Sand Dunes. We went there for May long weekend a did camping for one night. The campground is great. Toilets and showers area was clean. They had logs for making fire. There are not many trails except the lengthier Sand Dunes Trail which is fantastic. Tou will end up seeing mesmerizing dunes and it's a great place to take pictures as well.

Always a great experience to stay at this campground. We don't even have a favourite site, almost all are great. We love that there is a (very good) concession for food, ice cream etc and camping/fishing supplies. Lake Diefenbaker is very clear and you can walk in far. There are beautiful walking trails, we finally did the Juniper trail on the other side of the road. At dusk we often go watch the sunset or look for deer near the campground. Never a dull moment!

Very lovely sand beach. It has the most private comping sites. Most of the sites are filled and covered by trees. There is store by the beach. It have many beaches, I personally prefer the sandy beach that you have to walk a bit to get there as well as the beach by boat launch. It has a clean water to swim. The only issue might be washrooms that are that clean and the showers which aren't that many and you have to walk to get there.
Kourosh M — Google review
I love all aspects of this park, but you must visit the sand dunes. What a wonderful experience. After a twenty minute walk on the trail, which has plenty of trees and cactus, the sand dunes stretch out before you like a mirage. And remember, after a hot walk to the dunes, make your way to Lake Diefenbaker for a swim in the nicest lake in the province.

Went for a winter hike with my dogs. Couldn’t find any winter pics online so I thought I’d add some. Of course the water is off, bathrooms closed, etc. But there are many trails to walk or ski, places to picnic, and gorgeous nature to see!

Staying here for 4 days for two separate dates. I am definitely not impressed with the quality of the entire hotel. The second round of my stay the room we checked into was poorly cleaned. I was unaware that we were booked into a room with a pull out couch. When we pulled the bed out it would not come out. Husband had to put some elbow grease into it so it would open properly, then soon met a dirty unmade bed with frumpled sheets and crumbs. The only reply I got was "the guy who cleaned it couldn't get the bed out" we were giving two sad brown blankets and had to ask multiple times for pillows. The mattress is a 4 inch spring mattress that was probably here since the 90s. Seeing how expensive these rooms are you'd think they would put a better quality mattress in. So if you are planning to have 4 people in your room. Don't, you will not be comfortable. The second night on the first set of nights we decided to eat in the dining room. We were sat and were brought water Waiter did not take a drink order and took it when we were ordering food. Didn't even bring out the drinks that were ordered. We had to ask for them after our meals came He did not ask how the food was or asked if we needed anything. Terrible service, this also goes for the cafe. I do admit that the food was decent in the restaurant. It was warm and flavorful cannot say the quality in the cafe is the same. The pool atmosphere is horrendous, the cleanliness has gone way downhill, the "cool" pool is not cool at all. There is some serious maintenance issues there and it just looks dirty. They also got rid of the stay two nights and receive 20% off, and the 10% coupon in the gift shop. Everything is overcharged for the quality and state of this hotel. Definitely not worth the money coming here anymore. So needless to say this hotel is being run into the ground by the new owners and from the reviews I've read, many others feel the same.
Laura S — Google review
We stayed here and the rooms were clean however they said it was two queens and they were double beds. The pool really does need updating - as a former a lifeguard of 15+ years there is a lot of safety concerns although I understand that people go for the benefits of the water and not so much the experience itself. I called prior and was assured there is a cold , warm and hot pool. The cold pool is 93 F, warm is 100 F and hot is 103 F. This should be posted on their website as I am pregnant and was really hoping to spend more time in the pool than I could due to the very warm temperatures in the “cold pool”. I’m not sure the price of a room reflects the quality of the stay of the hotel and pool as it does need updating!
Emily M — Google review
The location is very quaint! Loved the little restaurants and shops across the way. Also nice gift shop in the resort. The salt pools were great to float in but they definitely need some repairs and cleaning. The ceiling near our room looked like it was about to come down. However looks like they are working on some sections of the hotel to fix it. All that said...we enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend coming out to this location. We also took in seeing the woodcarving contest and the farmers market near by. This resort is good it just needs a wee bit of TLC.

*REVIEW FOR POOL ONLY* The lake was too chilly for me but I was happy to float in the heated pool at Manitou Springs Resort. I wanted to try a spa treatment but I didn’t book in advance and there were no spots available. Showed up at the pool at about 7:40pm and the lady working suggested waiting until 8pm so we could get $5 off entry - I thought that was nice. The deep end is 9 feet deep, and I thought it was incredible to be able to “stand” vertically in the water and float. I’ve never experienced a salt water pool like this before and I had so much fun just floating about and relaxing. Yes, the pool deck isn’t in great shape. The thing that bothered me the most was the lack of lighting in the women’s change room. There are literally no lights overhead in the changing stalls, which made it awkward. There are lots of cosmetic things that could really elevate the experience here. But I still had a wonderful time floating and am excited to return in the future. Great gift shop, lots of Manitou souvenirs like epsom salts, Manitou mud, face scrub, and more holistic items, alongside the standard souvenirs. Nice lady working there!
K M — Google review
Well we emailed about our last trip with no response so posting my review. I LOVE this place...usually go stay twice a month in winter...last week we went and the pool is crumbling so bad with zero maintenance done, the plastic drain vents on the floors around the pool are cracked and someone in our group cut their foot open on it. Chunks of the floor are floating in the pool...its gone down hill soooo much that if it isn't fixed, there will be no pool left and the hotel itself is not worth staying without the pool.
Katie C — Google review
A good vacation spot for families and friends. The salt pool was really relaxing, we enjoyed the fun. We spent a night so we couldn't access other fun activities in and around the resort (kayaki, dancing, swimming in the river, dinning etc) I'll go back some other time, hopefully I'll meet a better service. In summary it was worth the stay
Lydia O — Google review
Did not visit rooms. Waters Edge restaurant was very pleasant and sweet potatoe fries were very good as well. Location is a fairly long way from Regina but doable for a day trip. Wish it were closer. My onlh complaint is the increase in fee to access pool - if you come & go from the pool. It ought not be increased if one leaves and comes back on the same day.
