It was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. The staff were welcoming and helpful, providing adequate information and greeting us with friendly smiles. All the shows were impressive, especially the lumberjack show, which I consider the best of the trip. Even though the weather was not so favorable, we still enjoyed it very much. I could see that everyone was thrilled. Thank you to Grouse Mountain for your generosity in offering free tickets to local residents. We truly appreciate it ❤️

Great (and challenging) hike up, but well worth the effort. Awesome views at the top. Check out the grizzly refuge, and if lucky see some colourful local birds. If you hike up the return gondola is only $25, compared to $87 for mountain admission (non resident)
Andre S — Google review
We were visiting BC from the Prairies, so a gondola ride was a must! Picking one was tricky though — they all seemed a bit overpriced. We ended up choosing Grouse Mountain because of their discounted evening ticket, which felt like a good way to experience the views without breaking the bank. As expected, most of the daytime activities were closed by then, but they looked fun and worth checking out if you come earlier in the day. The ride up on the smaller gondola was smooth and enjoyable. The ride down on the larger Skyride, however, was a bit of a letdown — it was crowded, and we had to wait quite a while for it to fill before it departed. That said, the evening walk around the top was beautiful. There was lots to see, and we were lucky enough to spot deer just roaming around — and the bears were super cool to see up close! Even without all the attractions running, it was a great experience overall. Worth it for the views and wildlife alone.
Helena N — Google review
Grouse Mountain was such a great experience! The Skyride up is amazing — the view of Vancouver and the ocean is unreal. There was also a really fun show that made the visit even better. I saw the grizzly bears, walked the trails, and just enjoyed the fresh air. Everything felt so peaceful and beautiful. Totally worth the trip, and I’d definitely go again!
Aref E — Google review
Grouse Mountain was a great disappointment to me. I was expecting breathtaking mountain scenery like what you see in Banff Alberta but to be fair the weather wasn’t great that day- it was rainy and foggy the whole time, which really limited the views. To be honest, I didn't feel like I got to experience the mountain's natural beauty, I don’t even think there was any mountain The Gondola ride was just there never got a chance to experience lumberjack show, the wildlife viewing was limited to just 2 grizzly bears. Considering the high price point, I felt like It didn’t worth the hype. Maybe I will have to visit when the weather is better to appreciate this place.
Blessing O — Google review
I visited Grouse Mountain National Park recently, and it turned into quite an unexpected adventure. The day started with an unplanned downpour, heavy rain combined with poor visibility and strong winds meant most of the attractions were closed. Honestly, they should have halted ticket sales on a day like this, because literally everything was shut except for a few core offerings. When I arrived, only the gondola was operational, which thankfully gave some beautiful views despite the fog. The main restaurant was open, and I did get to see the bears in their enclosure, which was a highlight. The rest of the activities and shows — the lumberjack show stage, zipline, hiking trails, scenic viewpoints, wildlife talks, and chairlifts were closed due to weather conditions. Even the secondary eateries and shops were shuttered. One important tip: check the weather forecast before visiting. Grouse Mountain offers a range of outdoor experiences, but rain and wind can shut down almost all of them. On a clear day, you can easily spend 3–4 hours exploring everything from hiking trails to ziplining, grizzly bear viewing, dining, and panoramic mountain scenery. I just wish they had been more upfront about the closures instead of charging full price. Parking isn’t free, so plan for that in your budget. Even with the closures and weather challenges, riding the gondola up and seeing the bears made it a memorable trip. On a sunny day, I’m sure it would be absolutely spectacular. ** They have Starbucks on site ** During rain, Gondola glass gets foggy and drops don’t slide down - there’s literally no visibility to the scenery outside.
Vijay T — Google review
Great moderate hike. It’s essentially a couple miles of stairs but that makes for a great workout. I drank a couple bottles of water (1.5 l). I saw a guy who looked in distress and gave him some water. There’s also a water station in the gondola center. Very nice views on top. It’s a one way hike. You have to take a different route down or the gondola down. You can get gondola tickets at a discount online. Nice views on top. There’s also a couple of bears you can check out and a zip line. Best to make an appointment for the zip line.
Max S — Google review
had a great time at grouse mountain. We did the grouse grind (as a beginner took 1h50min). then we ate at the top, walked around, saw the bears and lumberjack show, it was amazing! I was glad the gondola ticket was not too expensive, only $20 per adult (download ticket). I would recommend and would go back here!

Parks
Nestled in the stunning northern Vancouver, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park has been a captivating attraction since its establishment in 1889. The park boasts a 137m-long treetop bridge that offers breathtaking views of the lush forest below. Visitors can explore the entire park, including the Cliffwalk, Treetops Adventure, Story Centre, and KiaPalano for an array of thrilling experiences. Additionally, guided tours led by knowledgeable staff provide unique insights into the park's wonders.
Visiting the Capilano Suspension Bridge was just wow, what an unforgettable experience! The moment I stepped onto the iconic bridge, the views of the lush green canyon and the feeling of being suspended high above the river were absolutely thrilling. I loved exploring every part of the park. Besides the main suspension bridge, the Cliffwalk takes you along a glass-bottomed walkway with stunning perspectives of the forest floor. The Treetops Adventure is another highlight, with a series of mini bridges strung between massive old-growth trees—perfect for anyone wanting to feel like they're walking among the treetops! There are also captivating nature trails, kid-friendly activities, and fascinating educational exhibits throughout the grounds. The food on site was excellent, especially after a bit of adventure! I enjoyed a tasty meal at the cafe, and the gift shop was loaded with unique souvenirs. The customer service was top-notch—staff were friendly, informative, and really added to the welcoming feel of the park. Parking isn’t free, so make note of that, but the convenience is worth it. If you’re coming from downtown Vancouver, don’t miss the free shuttle bus—it’s comfortable, efficient, and perfectly connects with the city’s vibrant energy. Overall, Capilano Suspension Bridge offers an unbeatable mix of excitement, beauty, and great amenities. It’s a must-see for anyone visiting Vancouver, and I can’t recommend it enough!
Vijay T — Google review
Fantastic day out. Three thrills in one 😂😂. The view from the bridge down into the valley are amazing, the only place you cannot stop is on the stairs on or off the bridge. Then follows the tree top walk. This was beautifully lit with twinkle lights. It is a bit of a climb up but well worth it. Then we did the cliff walk which again had fantastic views. The park was prepared for Halloween so the decoration was lovely. Well worth the trip and a free shuttle bus to/from Canada Place.
D H — Google review
Such a gorgeous place!! One of my girlfriends and I drove up for a girls weekend and had such a wonderful time visiting the park! We got lucky and had the opportunity to visit while they have all of their Halloween decorations up and it was amazing! Definitely put us in a festive mood. All of my encounters with staff were great, everyone is so friendly and seems happy to be there, and the park is so organized and clean. Definitely worth a visit!
Anna R — Google review
Suspension bridge and park is very beautiful. Easily 2 hours can be spent here. Good part is to see the bridge there is not a lot of walking. It is close to the entrance. Shuttle bus service is cherry on the top. That is the only thing which makes the experience worth the ticket price. If visiting near halloween, it is more decorated. Washrooms and eatery is inside.
Prabhjot K — Google review
The Capilano Suspension Bridge is an absolute gem in Vancouver that never fails to take my breath away. I’ve been visiting time and time again, and each visit is more magical than the last. What truly makes this experience special is how accessible it is! everyone can enjoy the stunning views and the thrill of walking above the lush forest canopy. Every second spent there feels like a moment suspended in time, filled with awe and wonder. Whether it’s the gentle sway of the bridge or the peaceful sounds of nature all around, Capilano offers a perfect escape where unforgettable memories are made.
Arefeh N — Google review
We had an amazing time visiting the Capilano Suspension Bridge! The views are breathtaking, and the bridge walk is both thrilling and peaceful. The grounds are well-maintained, clean, and beautifully landscaped, perfect for photos and family outings. The staff is friendly and helpful, and everything is very well-organized. A special thanks to Dr. Basil at Riverside Chiropractic Clinic and Massage, who recommended this must see destination it did not disappoint! Highly recommend for anyone visiting Vancouver!
Jamal D — Google review
I absolutely loved this place. We went on an extremely pouring rainy day and it was still lovely. I can imagine it is busy during high tourist times. I'm glad we went early and during the rain. Much less people. We got to enjoy all the bridges. Walk amongst all the giant trees. Staff were helpful, very knowledgeable, and very friendly. It's kinda pricy however people need to understand the sheer amount of maintenance it takes to keep up a place like this. To keep it clean, to maintain all the wooden bridges and structures you walk on, to keep that shuttle bus free etc. Their souvenir shop was priced just as other gifts shops in Vancouver. I could've stayed all day here, even in the rain but alas the last bus leaves at 5pm.
EBS — Google review
The place is amazing. I really had a lot of fan. I was there close to Halloween, and the park was fully decorated. Everything very cleaned and organised. It's definitely worth to visit. There is a free shuttle that leaves Canada Place and stop on different hotels along the way.

Brockton Point Totem Pole

Mentioned on

Park
Sights & Landmarks
When exploring Stanley Park in Vancouver, the Brockton Point Totem Poles stand out as a captivating highlight. This remarkable collection of intricately carved totem poles, crafted from red cedar, showcases the rich indigenous heritage of British Columbia. Originally established in the 1920s at a different site within the park, these stunning artworks have since been relocated to their current home at Brockton Point, where they continue to draw visitors.
There's a collection of 9 totem poles in this area. Each has a plaque providing details about the pole. Well worth a stop to admire the carvings by indigenous artists and the histories of these poles. They are replicas and replacements of the original totems which are housed in museums for preservation or returned to their places of origin. There's also a Visitor Centre.
Pam S — Google review
Awesome totem poles that are free to view and take pictures. They have a boundary, so no one is permitted to go directly in contact with these statues. As a result, they're well kept and maintained here. There is a parking lot and a gift shop nearby. Lots of warning signs around the area about wild animals. Wide and clear walkways and paths to go on. It wasn't busy at all when we visited on a weekend afternoon. I recommend coming to see the Brockton Point Totem pole amongst other landmarks at Stanley park. It makes for a great walk along the coast line to see Vancouver!

It serves as both a cruise ship terminal and the Vancouver Convention Center, hosting numerous events throughout the year. It is an incredible and stunning view of cruises and seaplanes while enjoying the sunset, as well as the ocean. Tons of singing street performers along the road, tons of visitors from all over the world. I can't describe how happy I was when I was there. I am definitely coming back to this place. Oh, Vancouver, how I miss you already !!!
Lily R — Google review
The area offers an excellent atmosphere for strolling and observing tourists as they board their cruises. In addition to the lively ambiance, there are various rides and souvenir shops to explore, making it a vibrant destination. Walking to or taking a ride share service is best since I didn't see any parking areas.

It is an Iconic landmark and a must-visit in Vancouver. Canada Place offers stunning views of the waterfront, mountains, and city skyline. The architecture is impressive, and it's a great spot for photos. Explore the shops, dine at one of the restaurants, or simply enjoy the atmosphere. Perfect for locals and tourists alike

Place du Canada is an impressively large and beautifully designed public space right in the heart of Vancouver. The area is open, welcoming, and very well laid out, making it easy to walk around and explore. It’s a truly pleasant attraction, whether you’re visiting for the first time or stopping by again. There’s always something happening here—events, activities, or just the natural buzz of people enjoying the space. It feels vibrant and full of life, yet still comfortable enough to relax and take in the surroundings. The mix of scenery, atmosphere, and things to do makes it a great place to spend some time. Overall, Place du Canada is definitely worth a visit if you’re in Vancouver.

The water front area . Ferry, station and many bus pick up place. Very nice views of water front and city. Tickets to many tourist attractions including Capilano suspension park, grouse mountain, etc., available

Canada Place is iconic and you’ll see the seaplanes, cruise ships and famed whale statue and Olympic Cauldron. Perfect place to walk along the harbor, shop and enjoy the many restaurants. It’s usually busy given that it is by the convention center and many cruise ships dock in the area. There is also a very fun ride, FlyOver Canada that will make you feel that you are actually flying, suspended in air with an aerial and jaw dropping views of Canada. Nice activity if it’s a rainy day.
CW — Google review
Last week was my first cruise and was pleasantly surprised how easy and efficient it was at Canada Place to drop off our luggage and proceed to get on board our ship. We walked by the day before our ship left to get a lay of the land (walking down toward the luggage drop off) and ended up taking an Uber the day of (overpackers, lol) and got down to the drop off very quickly.
Katie Q — Google review
A beautiful building and a must see place when visiting Vancouver. There is a hotel, convention center and other things but we go there for the beautiful views. There is a cruise ship terminal and you might see a ship docked there. You can see north and west Vancouver. There is port nearby that you can see ships being unloaded. There are benches around and the walk is beautiful by the water. The views of the city during daylight and at night are amazing. There are restaurants if you need to eat.

FlyOver Canada is a unique 4D simulation flight entertainment experience that takes you on a virtual journey from the east coast to the west coast of Canada. You'll be immersed in the sights and sounds of Canada, including the serene starry sky of the Canadian Arctic Circle and the mesmerizing green aurora above the clouds. As you 'fly,' you'll soar over forest waterfalls, touch icebergs, and even catch whiffs of tree fragrance and water mist.
Absolutely highly recommended to try this experience! A small trick: if someone in your group has a BC driver’s license, their tickets will be discounted. The experience starts with a 5-8 minute film in the special room, that’s kind of a First Nation acknowledgment. After that, you’ll be led to a special cinema hall with vertical rows and a huge sphere-like screen. Believe me, this flying experience feels totally real! And the spring water, in particular moment, makes it even better. It’s definitely breathtaking!
Olha M — Google review
Visited the Flyover Canada and did the Iceland Flyover. The ride cost about 32CAD discounted for BC residents. There is a short 6 minutes show before the ride.. I did not find the intermission show interesting at all. It seems they tried to make it kids friendly but even the kids doesn’t look interested. The storyline feels disconnected. After the intermission, visitors are led to the room with the rides. It was not a full room, there were vacant sits. The actual probably took amount 10 minutes (maybe less?). The show was interesting and I enjoyed it, although thee are a lot of room for improvements. It s supposed to be a sensory ride but it was missing the sensory effects. The mist was very milk and almost nothing, would also be nice if there will be strong cold or hot air, or some fragrance. The entire experience including intermission was about less than 30 minutes ( maybe about 20) which was quite an expensive for the price. Although I enjoyed the experience, I don’t think it’s worth the price. If you are tight on budget, I would not recommend this ride. This is expensive if doing it with family. Video recording was not allowed inside so I was not able to record the experience.

Had a wonderful time visiting the Flyover. All the team members are friendly and professional. We did both offerings- Canada and Iceland. It's really amazing to feel like you're soaring through the sky! If you arrive early there's a snack shop and gift shop. Great selection to choose from too. There's also a pic you can purchase to commemorate your visit. Try it next time you are at Canada place. BTW, if you need assistance with accessibility you can easily be accommodated. There's elevators if you have trouble with climbing stairs.

I recently went to FlyOver Canada in Vancouver, and honestly, it was absolutely stunning and mesmerizing. The ride itself feels incredibly real, you really get the sensation of flying over some of Canada’s most breathtaking landscapes, like the Rockies and the vast wilderness. The visuals are spectacular, and the effects like mist, wind, and even scents totally make the experience feel immersive and unforgettable. It’s the kind of adventure that’s great for all ages and really shows off the beauty of Canada from a unique perspective. One thing I noticed though is that the pre-show introduction could be handled better. Everyone ended up standing around, which made it tough to see the screen if you’re seated and especially if you’re disabled, you don’t get the best visibility unless you’re right up front. It was a bit frustrating and could be more organized to make sure everyone can see comfortably. But once the actual ride started, all those little issues disappeared. The flight was mesmerizing and completely captivating from start to finish. I highly recommend taking some pictures after the ride at the gift shop to remember the experience. Overall, it was unforgettable and definitely worth doing if you are visiting Vancouver. It’s a perfect mix of technology and storytelling that really brings Canada to life in the most incredible way.

Totally recommend this! I’ve lived in Vancouver for years and just tried FlyOver Canada — way better than I expected. The visuals are stunning and it really feels like you’re flying. Great for families or just a fun outing. Plus, there’s a discount for BC residents — just bring some ID! I’ll definitely be back when they rotate the films.

🎢 Entertainment: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 👉🏻 FlyOver Canada is such a unique and thrilling experience! The immersive ride makes you feel like you’re truly flying across breathtaking Canadian landscapes. It’s both exciting and relaxing at the same time—an absolute must-try for locals and tourists alike. ✈️🍁 💁🏼 Service: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 👉🏻 The service at the ticket office was smooth and professional. Staff were friendly, helpful, and quick to answer questions, which made the check-in process easy and stress-free. 👏🏼 💡 Tips for Visitors: 🗺️ The ticket station is located right by Canada Place, making it easy to find. 💳 It’s cheaper to buy tickets online, and if you hold a BC driver’s license (proof of residency), you can also enjoy discounted rates. 🥤 Drinks are not allowed inside the building, so avoid buying a big drink before entering—you won’t be able to bring it in.
Leo H — Google review
This ride is the only one of its kind in greater Vancouver. The experience overall (including the mini film inside, lining up, the ride) lasts about 30 minutes, but the actual ride itself is about 10 minutes. My only complaint is the price is pretty steep for an attraction that is so brief.
Edith W — Google review
My boyfriend and I did the Awaken Canada and Flyover Iceland experiences and absolutely loved them. We are from Toronto and really hope to see this come to us! Highly recommend you check this out. Get your tickets online before you go, they are cheaper and you can pick your time. Be prepared there is quite a wait time before you get to the actual flyover portion, however let yourself enjoy the full experience not just the main event!

Such a great attraction this is! Family friendly, informative and absolutely stunning views. We loved the information cards placed right by the view. Children enjoyed this experience more than the adults. The staff were very well trained, they kept the facility spotless and well organized.

First time visit here as visited Vancouver couple times. Great view for 360 degree view of all the directions of the city, in a sunny day. Drawback is they will close before sunset, so you cannot come for a night view. But probably they are worried about the safety in downtown for that.

That was sooo exciting when you go up in the very quick glass elevator about 130 meters high, or actually 168 meters above sea level! You can see all of Vancouver’s attractions from above. Inside, there are pictures of different Vancouver spots with their history, and there’s even a QR code you can scan to listen to the guide. Highly recommend it!

We didn’t get time to go to grouse mountain so decided to do the lookout. Cost is approx $44 for two. It was ok. Not much atmosphere at the top but there are markers for each site/building etc. it was cool being in the elevator outside. I wouldn’t say it’s a must do.

The Vancouver Lookout definitely lives up to its name—you get a mostly great panoramic view of the entire city. It’s a beautiful way to get your bearings and take in the skyline, mountains, and water all at once. That said, the ticket prices are pretty steep for what is essentially a quick experience. I give them bonus points for the thoughtful touch of having stepstools for little kids so they can actually enjoy the view too. I’ve done it once and it was lovely—but at that price point, I don’t feel the need to do it again. Worth checking off your list, but maybe not a repeat visit.

If you’re a first-time visitor to Vancouver or keen on getting a quick, immersive city overview—especially with different lighting by day and night—the Vancouver Lookout is worth a stop. For seasoned locals or those watching the budget, you may choose to simply admire the skyline from street-level rooftops or nearby drinking spots.

The Vancouver Lookout is an absolute must-do experience for anyone visiting this stunning city. Perched atop the Harbour Centre, the observation deck offers truly breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views that encompass the entire Vancouver skyline, the majestic North Shore Mountains, and the vast Pacific Ocean. From this unique vantage point, you can clearly see iconic landmarks like Stanley Park, the historic Gastown, and even Vancouver Island on a clear day. What makes this visit so special is not just the height, but the well-designed layout of the Lookout, providing ample space to walk around and take in every angle. The informative signs help identify key points of interest, enhancing the experience. We spent a good hour just soaking it all in, witnessing the dynamic interplay of urban development, natural beauty, and the bustling harbour. The glass elevator ride up is also a thrilling part of the experience. Whether you go during the day to see everything in crisp detail or at night when the city lights twinkle, it offers a different yet equally magical perspective. This Lookout

Libraries
Vancouver Public Library, Central Library, is a grand architectural marvel with a colonnaded surround reminiscent of a Roman amphitheater. It's the third largest library in Canada and boasts an impressive collection of 9.5 million items borrowed annually, including books, CDs, DVDs, magazines, genealogy records, local history books, and more. The building's design by Safdie Architects is striking and has been featured in Hollywood films.
If you’re from out of town , the ability to check out books from this 9 story building filled with books, multi faith prayer room, computers , board games, puzzles , roof top gardens will be yours for a small fee. It’s surrounded by little small shops harboring coffee and snacks . It’s clean and bright with super friendly staff. Best theme park . No wait for the escalators !

The Vancouver Public Library Central Branch is one of the most beautiful parts of Vancouver. Each floor offers something different, and you could easily spend days exploring and enjoying it. There’s definitely something for every taste, from books and magazines to quiet study areas and creative spaces. The design and layout are both beautiful and practical, making it a place you’ll want to return to again and again
Hossein J — Google review
The library is such a beautiful building, with little shops inside selling stationery. These are quite a few people coming and going, but what I love most is the glass roof, as the natural light makes the whole space feel so bright and airy
Judy H — Google review
Beautiful and dated at once. It feels like a university library and has many areas where to work quietly. The children's library is undergoing a massive renovation, but you can still borrow children's books and attend events and workshops. An old-fashioned cardex can still be consulted. And there are information boards throughout the library for different communities.
Valérie — Google review
One of the most beautiful libraries in the city. The design feels more like a museum or gallery than a typical library, with lots of natural light and open space. Huge selection of books, quiet study spots, and even a rooftop garden. It’s a great place to read, work, or just enjoy a calm moment in the middle of downtown. Definitely worth checking out, even if you’re just visiting.

Very large, clean, and beautiful public library in the city of Vancouver! There is an observation deck on floor 9 which allows visitors to observe the city from the sky. There are computers in the library for research and catalog search purposes, along with many books, including a multilingual section. This library is a huge resource, from physical media such as CDs to books on law. Great place to visit, I would recommend!

You can borrow musical instruments with your library card for 21 days. Learning to play a musical instrument is a path towards finding your inner peace. I Never had this option when I was growing up here in Vancouver. They have an excellent kids section. Dinosaurs 🦕 are so interesting! The also have international books, magazines or other media. I thank the owners for these options. I thank God for these blessings ✝️.. Drinking alcohol makes the symptoms worse. Drinking caffeine after 5 pm (soda pop, tea, coffee, caffeinated energy drinks) will disrupt your sleep and also make your symptoms worse. Symptoms vary as well as intensity. I have spoken to teenagers and seniors or co-workers that had or have long covid. An indicator is if you have difficulty counting backwards from 100. If you cannot do it or struggle counting backwards, you might have long covid. Do an internet search regarding long covid in your location to find out how long covid could impact you or a loved one. Points of Interest & Landmarks
Gastown Steam Clock, located in Vancouver's oldest commercial district, is a well-known antique-style clock powered by steam and whistles to tell the time. Built in 1977 by Canadian clockmaker Raymond Saunders, it was intended to attract foot traffic to nearby shops and restaurants. Despite its name, the clock also has an electric motor and isn't entirely steam-powered.
This city is truly magical, filled with stunning architecture and vibrant culture. Its streets are alive with energy, showcasing a blend of history and modernity that captivates every visitor. From the charming cafes lining the bustling boulevards to the lush parks providing a serene escape, every corner holds a marvel waiting to be discovered. The sunsets cast a mesmerizing glow over the skyline, enhancing the city's already enchanting atmosphere. Overall, Vancouver is a place that leaves a lasting impression, offering an experience that is nothing short of remarkable.
Sophie R — Google review
Gastown is definitely one of the must-visit spots in Vancouver. It’s the city’s historic heart, with cobblestone streets, old brick buildings, and vintage street lamps that give it a unique charm. The Steam Clock is the highlight, fun to watch and a perfect photo spot. I really enjoyed just walking around, checking out the local shops, art galleries, and trying out cafes and pubs along the way. In the evening the whole place lights up beautifully, making it even more atmospheric. Great for a casual stroll, good food, and a bit of Vancouver history all in one.
Bàng L — Google review
Cool but of history. I think the best times are on the hour when you can hear the whole chime with the number of hours to match the time of day. The quarter chimes are cool as well but the whole chime is spectacular. There are bars you can sit at near by to get a view as well. Won't go out of my way but if you're in the area, worth a stop!
Rahul B — Google review
The Gastown Steam Clock is a unique and charming attraction, even though it is currently under maintenance and not whistling completely. The clock still runs and plays its melody every 15 minutes, though it is running about 3 minutes early. Despite these minor issues, the clock remains a fascinating blend of old-world charm and modern engineering, drawing visitors with its steam-powered whistles and historical significance in Vancouver’s Gastown district. It’s definitely worth seeing for its uniqueness and the atmosphere it creates in the area. Keep in mind to check maintenance status before visiting to catch its full performance.
Vijay T — Google review
A tourist attraction that is centered around a unique steam powered clock in the Gas Town district of Vancouver. The clock runs entirely on steam, and although as of October 2025 the clock is under maintenance, it still plays sound every 15 minutes. Thats the real attraction around this clock and you can time your visit. There is usually a long queue of tourists trying to capture their photo in front of the clock. The neighborhood and the road itself are really nice to be around. This has to be part of your Vancouver visit itinerary.
Avais S — Google review
The Gastown Steam Clock is a beautiful landmark and a must-see in Vancouver. The clock is very well maintained and offers a charming mix of architecture and live steam music. The surrounding cobblestone streets make it a perfect area to walk around and enjoy the historic atmosphere of the city. Without a doubt, it’s something you shouldn’t miss during your visit to Vancouver!
Alicia R — Google review
Nice charm from the steam clock. Got to be there on the hour as the steam clock will steam out the hours by the number of hums. Though the clock doesn't show standard time, probably needs some lubricant.
James P — Google review
Great quirky attraction. Would have had 5 stars had the time on the clock been accurate. It was 10 minutes out, but once we figured thay out we were able to watch it complete the full chime sequence on the hour. The surrounding area is a great place for shops, bars and restaurants, both day and night. Well worth a visit.

Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, located in Vancouver's historic Chinatown neighborhood, is a serene urban park designed according to Taoist principles. Crafted by 53 Chinese master craftsmen, this garden is a replica of a classical Ming Dynasty Chinese scholars' garden and the first of its kind outside of China. The garden features carefully arranged water, plants, and rocks shipped from China to create an authentic experience.
Quiet & lovely garden in the center of the city. Scavenger hunt for kiddos, plenty of lush bamboo & maples, old bonsai trees & koi ponds. Cafe had neat original artwork for sale. Live classical Chinese musician played in the courtyard and incense wafted while we explored and played with the Buddha boards. Free tea samples and awesome gift shop. Definitely worth it. Easy location too, fun walking around Chinatown.
Ms A — Google review
This is a beautiful and relaxing Classical Chinese Garden. We visited on a recent trip. It was $16 to enter as an adult. Inside we could enjoy the walk and relaxing atmosphere. They offered free tea and there was a room with a few traditional Chinese activities to learn or try. The Garden neighbours a park by almost the same name. The Park is free to enter, and if you were just looking for a taste of the experience, you could do that at no cost. The Garden looks over the pond that is shared by both the paid garden and the free park. Spent about 1 hour total between the 2. The exit is through a lovely gift shop.
Alyssa B — Google review
It’s a calm and pleasant spot in an otherwise noisy town, but since it’s part of an open-entry park, the house itself doesn’t really justify the ticket price. Inside you’ll only find some Chinese-style furniture—unclear whether authentic or just styled to look old—arranged in a very bare interior with an equally plain garden. If you’ve ever seen original Chinese homes, you’ll find this one strikingly empty; if you haven’t, it may give you a very basic idea of how they look. The most interesting moment had nothing to do with the house at all: I watched a heron catch a fish from the pond right in front of me. It was extraordinary, something I had never seen so close before. That alone was beautiful. Otherwise, don’t bother paying for the entrance. Just walk behind the statue and you’ll enter the park for free. Nothing inside is worth your time.
Ani R — Google review
Visited June 2025. During our walk around Chinatown, we came across this garden. We walked through a store and out the back door and ended up here. This was a great surprise in an overall depressing situation in the area. The garden is very peaceful to walk around and take in nature right in the middle of the city.
Josh H — Google review
A peaceful place to soothe your peace, I visited the park and classic garden (entry fee) . I came here a few days after my dad's funeral. This has serenity away from the city life beyond the walls.
Jake W — Google review
This place was so cute to stop in while exploring Chinatown. A little oasis in what is kind of a rougher part of the city. We just did the public portion, not the ticketed part, but we saw plenty of lovely botanicals and hidden paths and picture spots. Definitely worth a walk!!
Sara C — Google review
I’ve been there twice — once in spring and once in summer — and both seasons look amazing. There’s a small garden that makes you feel like you’re in China. It’s such a calm and peaceful place where you can sit, sip your tea, and watch the beautiful fish swimming in the pond. There’s also a small shop where you can buy traditional Chinese souvenirs.
Neda F — Google review
This is not just a garden, this is a monument to Chinese culture. A pure diamond in the heart of Vancouver. A safe place to rest and relax if you need a break from the city. It gives you the feeling to enter a bubble full of positive energy. Tea was great, the staff was more than happy to help you throughout the visit. What an amazing experience 🙏🏻

The George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary, situated in Delta, BC, is a sprawling 300-hectare haven for bird enthusiasts. The sanctuary boasts diverse habitats including ponds, treed pathways, intertidal marshes, and channels. It's a popular stopover for millions of migrating birds along the Pacific Flyway Migration Route.
If you are looking to enjoy wildlife and nature, this is a fantastic spot. With $8 admission for adults and a $2 bag of seeds (all tax included), proceeds go to conservation effort and you will have a fun day feeding various birds here. In order to ensure you have space for parking, please book up to 3 days in advance per vehicle for the morning or afternoon slot. The attendant at the gift shop appreciates visitors who make advance parking reservations at no additional cost. Make sure to dress appropriately as there are sections where the marshlands attract a lot of mosquitoes and can become a nuisance if you stay too long. If you want to support local tourism and conservation, come on over.

We love it here Went today after not going for a few years. Caught myself saying to my daughter who was 2 when we first went… why did we wait so long to come again (now 9) We saw SO many birds. 2 bird nests I have never seen before. Hand fed red winged black birds and chickadees with the provided seed $2 a bag. DO NOT BRING your own seed or food for birds. Gift shop is adorable. Picked up some bird colouring books and paint by numbers on our way out. Make a day of it and hit up Emma Leah farms and westham island herb farm on your way home. We will be back soon for some birding !!!! Thanks

Very cool place for bird lovers. Might be hot walking in the sun so recommend bringing umbrellas or hats. Requires parking reservation for the 2 hour stay, on their website. Saw beautiful herons and little birds are likely to feed off seeds from hands! Very well kept sanctuary considering how many birds live there.

Absolutely love this Sanctuary. There are cranes, ducks, grease, and tons of other birds. A lot of birds here are very friendly and will eat out of your hand. Nice trial walks. $8 per person and I am usually there for 2-3 hours!

Such a peaceful spot! We saw lots of ducks and even a few sandhill cranes wandering around. Feeding the ducks was a fun highlight. The trails are easy and perfect for a relaxing stroll. Great way to unwind and enjoy nature. Can’t wait for fall/winter time when the vegetation not so dense

I think this was good value for the money. It's just a bit out of the way to access. I'm not a bird watcher, but there were certainly plenty to see. They may be a bit too accustomed to humans though lol. The trails are well maintained and there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view or watch the birds along the way. There is a tower and several blinds along the way. There are picnic tables and washrooms near the parking. It took us about 2 hours to circumnavigate the area and also wander through the middle a bit. There is plenty of parking, although you do need a reservation. They don't kick you out after your 2 hour block - I think it's just an arrival window - and they are strict on not letting you in before that time starts. We went during summer and we may return again during another season to see different birds.
Matt F — Google review
We had a great experience at the bird park. Plenty of birds to view. Make sure you carry pumpkin seeds to feed birds - it's a great experience. Also make sure to carry binoculars, a bag pack, lots of water/snacks and be prepared for a beautiful walk around the reef.

The BC Ferries Tsawwassen Terminal offers more than just a gateway to the ocean. Situated on a stunning land spit that extends into the water, it provides a unique vantage point of the surrounding city and sea. Reserving tickets in advance is recommended, especially during peak times like summer weekends. The terminal features comfortable seating, desk cubicles for laptops, and even a shop with quality items.
Got on my ferry to Victoria from here, pretty cool experience. The ride was about an hour and we didn't really buy anything on the ferry like food or merch or anything but it was really fun regardless. The wind at the top of the ferry is something to behold and the engine makes my voice sound all robotic, truly amazing. I do recommend the experience not gonna lie...

Busy, but very efficient ferry dock for BC ferries and others to go to islands, such as Vancouver Island. Little marketplace with food outlets and shopping vendors. It's great to have a bite to eat before docking.

Fantastic way to transport car $80 over from Vancouver to Victoria. On time, nice big clean boat, and with a cafeteria on board. Amazing views throughout the ship of the journey. Attraction in itself. Buy tickets in advance, they do fill up, especially when going with a car.

I was in Vancouver last week and decided to take the ferry to Victoria Island. We purchased ticket ahead of time and arrived with our car. It was a very smooth and fast process, you check in at the toll station and you show your boarding pass. They will assign you a lane and you go to the lane and wait for the boarding process. Surprisingly the process was very fast and efficient. They loaded over 200 cars and truck under 10-15 min. Once inside you can turn off your car and go up in the deck. They have nice sitting area, work stations, coffee shop and you can go outside and enjoy the beautiful view. It was a pleasant experience.
Shahbaz S — Google review
We got there just less than an hour from the next ferry to leave for Victoria. We paid at the entrance booth to the ferry terminal. The price for the car and two people was very reasonable. No need to book ahead. There was no extra charge for making the reservation. We got the line to go to and we drove there and placed our car next in line. It seems people get out of their cars and go shopping and eating at the enclosed mall. The building was great! Wonderful quality shops and many nice priced places to eat. Then, off to the car and enjoyed our hour and 30 minute trip. The ferry was pleasant and the view was very nice, Great experience!

BC Ferries are well-organized, speedy and clean. Booking our tickets online proved to be a wise decision, as it spared us any delays upon entering the terminal. Our ferry departed on schedule, and the boarding process was smooth and hassle-free. The surrounding scenery is breathtaking in every direction. Regrettably, the prices are notably steep. Nevertheless, the ferry journey itself was a delightful experience. Brace yourself for the wind on the ferry deck. We captured so many pictures. I thoroughly enjoy boarding the ferry at Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal.

Arrived 1:10 early and they said do we want to go on the earlier boat, yes please. Restaurant closed on Sunday but vending machines. Boat really smooth and the views are amazing of the little islands to Vancouver Swartz Bay. Tip make your way to the sun terrace at the top it’s the warmest and best views.

I Love the ferry terminal. Washrooms are always clean. Instructions are which line up to get in are clear. I think there is lots to enjoy as a casual user. Just be sure to get a reservation as sometimes the ferry can be very busy and it does get boring to have to wait a sailing or two….

We were in the area and decided to check out the park for the first time in my life here. I've always driven by but didn't visit. Lots of people just walking around and jogging etc. Very family friendly I enjoyed the different views here. The sunset was beautiful too. The winter lights are amazing. They really add character to the park . People that live here are really fortunate to have such a beautiful park to access. The lake is magical with the fountain. Having grown up when Lafarge Lake was little more than a former gravel pit filled with water, I can't help but be impressed by the fantastic job the City has done with this park. Loads of amenities and plenty of room to wander, play, explore, and relax. Always a lovely visit!

A great big park for everyone. Lots of sport fields, playground, large big lawn, a big lake. It's very popular for the lafarge Lake lights Festival in Christmas. It also holds a lot of summer events too. The big stage by the lake is good for concerts and shows. The flat trail around the lake is good for a walk. Lots of parking is good for all events. But it will be not enough washroom when the events take place, more washrooms are really important too. There are also with a electrical scooter station in the park. It has free wifi.

Our family's one of the most favorite places for walk and outdoor play. The Giggle Dam Dinner Theatre offers a unique experience of unfussy Canadian meals accompanied by interactive musical comedy performances and an 8-piece band. It's a great spot for a night out with family or a date, featuring funny and entertaining shows with harmonious singing. The circus show is particularly impressive, followed by enjoyable live music. The venue provides great drink options and delicious food catering to all tastes, despite some changes due to COVID-19.
This place is pure gold!! Everything they do is amazing, I’ve not seen it so consistently done. They play their roles the whole show with soul and pizzaz, the energy is on point. Wow, what a great place! Well ran, very organized, amazing service and the food is great! The drink menu is perfect, with lots of offerings and quick service but the overall continuity is impressive. The actors are a very talented bunch. I’m so impressed by them, I want to go back weekly and take everyone I know there. Fabulous crew.

Overall good experience. Performance was funny and edgy. Definitely not for sensitive people as they mention on the website but not over the top. The circus show was great and the live music afterward was enjoyable. Even the music choice before and between acts was awesome. Great selection of drinks. Food options cater to all, I feel, and was delicious. Some changes obviously due to covid but I didn't feel it took away from the quality of the show overall. This was my 4th visit to The Giggle Dam. The shows are always top notch. They are funny, a lil raunchy, and always full of talent!! The food is delicious and generous. The atmosphere reflects the current show perfectly from the decor to the servers and waitstaff costumes. The drinks are delicious! It's well worth the price

We had an absolute blast celebrating our 6 month wedding anniversary! The Giggle Dam puts in such a great show. They had us laughing all night. Dinner wasn’t half bad either. They serve a four course meal with various options for your main.

I LOVE this place! The cast is incredible, and ridiculously talented. You will 100% have a good time. It's saucy, racy, original, and hilarious. You can tell the cast is having a good time, too. Get the Dam sized cocktails if you want to have extra fun ;) there's a full bar! 🍺 Super fun experience, great for groups and parties for sure.

Same dam place. One thing they have going for them is consistency. Consistently delicious alcoholic mixology, consistent politically incorrect dirty humor, consistently terrible food and a consistently GREAT TIME!!!! If you have never been but you like dinner comedy and old time rock and roll, this place should get up on your list. The owners are getting on in age, this place must have been around 15 to 20 years so it wont last forever. Get in while they're still warm! The place is always packed, be prepared to be in a small room with a couple hundred people. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE ATTENDING, COMEDY IS SILLY AND VULGAR, SHOW IS FOR THE YOUNG AT HEART, NOT FOR PRUNES AND PICKY CRY BABIES. These people put it out there trying to entertain. This isnt a 200$ ticket you are buying...

Went here for the first time this evening and it was so much fun! They took plenty of precautions to keep us safe, the food was good, and the entertainment was... well... hilarious! Hope to come back again soon! Cheers friends!

Irreverent! Politically incorrect! And just flat plain funny. A place where you can truly go to laugh at yourself and real comedy. Great show and a good meal for the price. I'm from the US and have been twice. Definitely will be back for more!

Centennial Beach, located in Tsawwassen, is a popular spot with a large tidal variation and a sheltered bay perfect for swimming. The beach offers amenities such as a playground and a cafe. Additionally, the area surrounding the beach is filled with opportunities for adventure, including birdwatching at Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Ladner and cycling through North Delta's Watershed Park.
Beautiful place to visit with family , lots of spots for BBQ and amazing kid’s playground with expansive water view. Few walking trails around and many different birds. Clean washrooms. Parking and small cafe with food options and different drinks. Sometimes you can meet weird noisy families who don’t respect others. You can reserve covered bbq tables on their websites for your occasion.

A beautiful beach and hiking trail. Although there is no shade or trees along the hiking trail but if you want a nice view of Mount Baker in Washington then you are at the right place. Plenty of parking here The beach hike is nice and if you love to swim then it is worth to cool off here while looking at Mount Baker

We simply love it there! Parking is easy & free, amenities are great (easy to clean yourself & the kids up after a sandy day on the beach 😅)… perfect spot to chill - and really cool is low tide time when you can walk aaaall the way over to White Rock! (no kidding!) It‘s clean, it‘s super safe - fantastic place for everybody! Small kids can play in the water & everybody else can practice their SUP skills! Enjoy!!

Excellent location with stunning views, walkable beach with Mt baker views! All faculties are in great conditions, love of picnic tables and parking spots! My kids love the big playground so much, it connected the old and new play sets together. Highly recommended to visit or spend a day here if you come to tsawwassen!

This is my new favorite beach! What a gorgeous view of the of the sand bar when the tide is out, there is lots of parking huge clean washrooms and a very impressive kids big toy play area. Lots of bird watching there everywhere. Lots of logs spread all over the beach to sit on. On the far right side is the USA/Canada concrete marker that's cool u can just walk right into the states. This beach would be amazing during sunset. They also have a food stand here near the entrance. Great beach 💯💯💯

It's a complete package, dog friendly walk areas, beach access, large parking lot, playground etc. One of the best place to get away from your daily life. You can be in nature and see some beautiful landscapes, birds and more.
Kurian O — Google review
It's a great place to take the kids out to play in the water and Barbie Q. you can walk them all day long but you have to watch the tide come in and go out and if you catch the tide you have to walk a long, long way to see the sea and the other thing is that the place where you can put the tent up is probably sand so it's best to put a layer of somethingor, Otherwise the bottom of the tent will be covered with dirt. there's only one place on this big beach where people line up to wash their feet and sand and that's very, very, very bad and needs to be improved.
Yvonne Z — Google review
We came here on Monday BC day as we've heard it was great for families. Although very crowded we managed to get a parking spot nearby without having to use their free shuttle. It is indeed a great beach for families. Calm water and safe enough for young children. You can walk a 100 meters from shore and water is still about waste deep. There are Park staff that help keep everyone organized and safe.

If you're on the hunt for an exhilarating and distinctive experience in Port Coquitlam, look no further than the Vancouver Gun Range, also known as DVC Indoor Shooting Centre. This indoor facility is a gem in Metro Vancouver, offering a variety of firearms and targets to suit both novices and seasoned shooters alike. With knowledgeable instructors available to assist you every step of the way, you'll feel at ease whether it's your first time or you're returning for another round.
This was my second time visiting this range, and the experience was fantastic! Huge shoutout to Brandon—he was super patient and explained everything clearly, which made the whole process really smooth. It was my dad’s first time at a gun range, and he missed the target at first, but Brandon was so kind and even gave us a free bullet to try again. I really appreciated that extra touch—it made the experience even more memorable. We got to try a handgun, revolver, rifle, and shotgun. The shotgun was the highlight—such an adrenaline rush! I definitely recommend giving that a shot (pun intended!) if you visit. The pricing was actually better than I expected, and the overall experience was absolutely worth it. Highly recommended for anyone thinking about trying a gun range for the first time!
John L — Google review
My friends and I had such a great first experience shooting here! Brandon was so great at teaching us and made us all feel so comfortable with him that he felt like a part of our group by the end of our session! He even encouraged us to go one by one to get better photos and videos which I appreciated so much. All of the staff were extremely welcoming and happy to explain things to me as someone who doesn't know much about guns yet. They all really set the mood for a great time! I will definitely be back, and will definitely be recommending this range to my friends. We were told the daycard is half off for women on Thursdays, which is so nice!

This is our first visit to DVC. Tyler is an amazing shooting expert. We all have a great time playing there, especially our 10 year old boy. Tyler did a lot of detail explaining and teaching while we played. He is caring and have lots of patience with our boy. They switched with different levels of the guns and tryouts few rounds. Both Daddy and son enjoy their time here and are very much satisfied with the shooting experience. Definitely a cool place recommending for more visits. (Minimum age is 10 years old and up with valid ID proof. )

First time for me…..to ever shoot a real fire arm. I was well prepared and the guidance on the range (Eddie) was top notch. Though I was terrified I was encouraged and supported from the time I walked in until the time I walked out. My partner has a lot of shooting experience and he had a great time and didn’t feel the tips/tricks and safety info was unnecessary. I highly recommend this location as a date, as a confidence booster or as a time to kill activity. It is worth it!!!

We had an amazing experience thanks to Robbie! He was super clear with instructions, knowledgeable and friendly, he delivered a professional and calm environment that allowed us to feel confident in the range. My wife was a first timer and he guided and encouraged her through the entire process. Definitely going back to see him!

We had a really good time at DVC. Brandon was very helpful (and fun) taking care of us, especially our two girls, their first time shooting. We like how they’re safe and organized. You need to line up outside before they say you can come in. They have strict instructions as to what to do and not to do and made sure you understand before proceeding. We will be back :)

Derby Reach Regional Park

Nature & Parks
Serene park offering riverfront trails, picnic areas, camping & picturesque mountain & forest views.
Lovely place to go for a walk with your family or dog(s) ; or for a bike ride. Peaceful, flat and easy. Beautiful trees, scenery, and clean fresh air. What more could you ask for?
JP ( — Google review
Derby Reach is a great local park for the whole family including the dog. There is three separate off leash fenced dog areas with one on the river to cool the dog down. Great walking trails including the Fort to Fort which is pretty long. A good picnic area with bathrooms near the parking lot. Decent spots to view the Fraser River and to the east side of the park is Edgewater campground which everyone staying there gets a waterfront spot on the river. Her is a picture of a campground spot.

Nice scenery. Cozy camping experience. Campground side has only pit toilets whileas the picnic area had flushed toilet and (coin) shower facility. Picnic area parking close at 10pm.
Kyoung C — Google review
Derby Reach Regional Park is a beautiful spot for families, friends, and dog owners. There are multiple off-leash fenced dog areas, including one by the river where pets can cool off. The walking trails are scenic and peaceful, with the Fort to Fort trail offering a longer route for those who enjoy a good stroll. The campground provides a cozy experience, though it only has pit toilets, while the picnic area offers flush toilets and coin-operated showers. Plenty of fresh air, lovely scenery, and space to relax — a great place to unwind.
CHANDRA P — Google review
Derby Reach Regional Park is a peaceful riverside escape with a mix of open fields, forest trails, and heritage sites. The Fort to Fort Trail is a local favourite — flat, scenic, and great for walking or cycling. The Edgewater Bar campground is simple but well-kept, with picnic tables and fire rings. It’s a solid spot for birdwatching and quiet strolls, especially in the early morning. Downsides? It can get buggy near the water in summer, and some areas flood after heavy rain. Limited shade in the open fields means it gets hot fast, so bring water and sunscreen. Still, it’s a relaxing place to unwind without leaving the city too far behind.

Thank you to Strong start park side so we knew this place. We went to join them for kick off to spring break, so much fun. Really nice park, nice camp ground by the river. We didn't walk around because we were busy but I saw many trails so will go back to check it out. We went to edge water bar one. So we will definitely go for camping there. Really clean camp ground, really clean washrooms and parking spots, picnic area by the river. Plus the new washrooms are in construction now

A place to walk, chill, make your mind in peace . White rock pier is a place full of positivity , serenity . One can go there and sit for some time and take a small walk on the pier. Enjoy the beauty ,nature, water, seagulls chirping , sea shore sound. There are enormous restaurants where you can eat and see sunset peacefully. Easily accessible by car till that point . Less walk for seniors and kids too . One can easily take small bus too to reach till that point .

Alouette Lake: A Family-Friendly Gem in Golden Ears Provincial Park On Friday, August 22, 2025, my family and I enjoyed a wonderful day at Alouette Lake, nestled within Golden Ears Provincial Park, just an hour from Vancouver in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. This picturesque reservoir, surrounded by the stunning Coastal Mountains, offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and family-oriented amenities, making it an ideal destination for a day of relaxation and adventure. Important Reservation Information: Visitors planning to visit Alouette Lake on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays during the peak season (typically May to September) must secure a free day-use pass online through the BC Parks website. Reservations are mandatory, and without one, you may be turned away at the park entrance. We were fortunate to have an AM reservation and arrived well before noon, ensuring a smooth entry. Plan ahead to avoid disappointment, as these passes are essential for managing park capacity. The parking lot at the South Beach day-use area is spacious, with ample room to unload picnic supplies, paddleboards, and beach gear. The park features numerous picnic areas equipped with benches and BBQ attachments, perfect for family meals or group gatherings. Excitingly, Golden Ears Provincial Park is expanding its picnic facilities to accommodate even more visitors, enhancing the already welcoming setup. The beach itself, while more gravelly than sandy, is comfortable for walking, though water shoes are recommended for added comfort, especially for children. The designated swimming area, marked by a floating line, is safe and ideal for kids, with shallow, clear waters that warm up nicely in the summer sun. The water can be chilly, but our family found it refreshing for swimming and paddleboarding. We took our paddleboards across to an adjacent beach, which offered a quieter spot for swimming and exploring the shoreline’s natural beauty. For those interested in boating, Alouette Lake features a four-lane cement boat launch at the south end, though it’s a fair distance from the main beach area. It’s a popular spot for kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding, with rentals available at the South Beach day-use area from late June to Labour Day, weather permitting. The lake’s 24-mile shoreline also offers boat-accessible backcountry camping for those seeking a more adventurous experience. Beyond the beach, Alouette Lake is a gateway to Golden Ears Provincial Park’s extensive offerings. The Spirea Universal Access Trail, a wheelchair-accessible path, provides stunning views for all visitors, while over 20 km of hiking and biking trails cater to outdoor enthusiasts. The park is also a haven for wildlife, with opportunities to spot deer, black bears, and golden eagles, adding to the natural allure. Tips for Visitors: Bring a canopy or umbrella for shade, as the beach has limited natural cover. Sunscreen is essential, and a wagon can simplify transporting gear from the parking lot. Note that dogs are not allowed on the main South Beach but are permitted on a leash at the nearby North Beach day-use area. Also, cell phone service is unreliable in the park, so plan to use paper maps or download offline guides for navigation. Alouette Lake is a must-visit for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a serene escape near Vancouver. With its blend of recreational facilities, natural beauty, and thoughtful amenities, it’s a destination that delivers unforgettable memories. I highly recommend reserving your free day-use pass, packing your beach essentials, and enjoying a day of fun and relaxation at this Lower Mainland treasure!
Paul D — Google review
A stunning backdrop to do any of the fun outdoor things - water sports, swimming, lounging, hiking... The facilities are great - flushable toilets, available water, paved and well managed trails make this an easy destination for all families and abilities to enjoy. Campsites are booked as soon as they're available (months ahead of time) but the day use area is a great way to get the benefit of the place without staying

Nestled in Surrey, BC, Redwood Park is a tranquil oasis that beckons nature lovers and families alike. This enchanting park features picturesque trails that meander through majestic redwood forests, lush groves, and open meadows—ideal for leisurely walks or delightful picnics with loved ones. Among its charming attractions is a whimsical fairy garden hidden within the towering trees, captivating both children and the young at heart with its ever-growing collection of tiny fairy houses.
A place we visit often - beautiful park and love the fairy garden. Family and stroller friendly. Lots of parking and hard to get lost. Last time we went we did come across a few very muddy areas with no ways around so don't bring nice shoes and bring a extra pair of socks. Of course to be expected since it outdoors but has been many times and never had the issue so we're underprepared.

Absolutely beautiful park packed with Redwoods and other amazing trees. Well maintained and very peaceful. Great place to bring the kids to expend energy as there is a play area as well as a fairy village. There are relatively clean and accessible public washrooms but they are quiet old. Great sheltered seating areas for those short notice showers or BBQ sunny days.

Short 10-15 min trails makes a decent stroll with toddlers, strollers, and seniors. There are multiple picnic areas depending on what context you're going for: by the playground, own larger field, views, etc. The diversity of tall trees in the park makes an interesting walk. Other highlights: Meadows, treehouse, stroller/wheelchair access playground feature, vast bird house displays. We'd come here again for the picnic and stroll.

Went for a walk here with my husky today. All around beautiful, nice clean well maintained bathrooms, a huge plus. Playground looks nice, I'm sure my kids will love it when I take them next time. Trails were nice, albeit a tad covered in debris and I was hoping it would be a bit bigger to navigate around. But all around really enjoyable. Will definitely be back.

Good one to spend 1-2 hrs, make sure to park your car on the parking otherwise you have to come through border security which will take not less than 1 hr. Parking is on first right turn and there are not turns beyond that point

Beautiful park on the US-Canada border. The park has large green open space. The peace arch towering the park is magnificent. There is ample free parking. The view of the ocean, totem pole and Japanese garden are really good. But the most unique thing about the park is that people from US and Canada can meet without going through immigrations. There are rangers who monitor that there are no illegal crossings but nothing is checked while you are in the park. The park is very peaceful and well maintained. USA also maintains the park on the other side of the border. The US side has a play area with some swings in addition to restrooms and picnic shelters. Looking forward to visit again.

An interesting and spectacular place where the border between the two countries, America and Canada, has no guard, the park has a picnic area and a children's play area, you can visit both sides of the park in America and Canada.

Shopping in the US is our family’s routine every now and then. I loved to see the historical Peace Arch with its gorgeous garden across the border. It’s a beautiful monument situated between the communities of Blaine, Washington and Surrey, British Columbia.
Bernie — Google review
This park is very hard to get to or find if you have never been there before. Google maps takes you all over the place even tries to send you across the border to the USA, but does not give good directions to get there. When you get to this park it is very small, but it has beautiful large trees and a small path to the railway tracks and you can see the beach on the other side. You are not allowed to cross the tracks. There is a sign threatening charges if you get caught. Don’t get caught crossing the railway tracks. At the end of the path you can see the USA and Canada sides of the border. Across the water you can see the Island and the open ocean. The sight is beautiful. There is very little to do at this park. If you are not going there for a planned gathering or to see the railway tracks and the beach across from them, this park is boring.
Dee D — Google review
Make sure you take the beach road exit before the US Canada border ! Orelse you will have to make a u turn and sit through a line . The police man at the duty free exit are not well trained in Canadian politeness to say the least. Park itself is amazing , you can bring your on stove and have a good time.

Peace Arch Park is an ideal spot for family outings and mini picnics! The lush greenery, spacious grounds, and tranquil ambiance create the perfect setting for quality family time. Kids absolutely love exploring the park, playing games, and having a picnic under the clear blue sky. With ample space to run around and plenty of picnic spots, it’s a wonderful place to create lasting memories with loved ones. Highly recommended for families seeking a fun and relaxing day out!”

Make sure you take the beach road exit before the US Canada border ! Orelse you will have to make a u turn and sit through a line . The police man at the duty free exit are not well trained in Canadian politeness to say the least. Park itself is amazing , you can bring your on stove and have a good time.

Nature & Parks
Campbell Valley Regional Park in south Langley offers a dog-friendly environment with picnic and campsite facilities, as well as nature trails for horseback riding, hiking, and biking. The park features abundant trails, ponds, bridges, marshes, meadows, and stunning fall foliage. Visitors can explore the historic Lochiel Schoolhouse built in 1924. Horseback riding in Surrey provides a unique perspective of places like Campbell Valley Regional Park and Serpentine Fen Nature Reserve.
Me and my family of 4, recently had the pleasure of visiting Campbell Valley Regional Park (first time), and I must say it exceeded all my expectations! From the moment we arrived, the park’s natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The park offers an incredible variety of scenic trails, which are well-maintained and clearly marked. We enjoyed a lovely walk through the forested paths, taking in the fresh air and the soothing sounds of nature. The views of the meadows and wetlands were absolutely breathtaking, and we even spotted some local wildlife, which added to the charm of the experience. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Campbell Valley Regional Park for anyone looking to enjoy some time outdoors in a peaceful, beautiful setting. We can’t wait to return!

Love this park! My daughter went there with her class, i figured we should bring her brother next time. Plenty of parking. It was a beautiful morning, and visiting the inside of the red barn had been definitely the highlight for the kids. The barn is only open to the public on weekends and stat holidays, i believe. The picnic areas have benches and water access and the washrooms are well maintained. I noticed signs that the picnic area is now a zone people can drink alcohol in public. Doesn't apply to me but I'm sure some people enjoy it. I just hope they are acting responsible and especially don't drive after....

We visited Campbell Valley Regional Park yesterday and had such a peaceful and refreshing experience. The trails are well-maintained, perfect for a walk with family. Beautiful greenery, bird sounds, and open meadows made it feel like a nature escape. There are plenty of picnic spots, clean washrooms, and the overall atmosphere is very calm. Highly recommended for nature lovers and families looking for a quiet day out!

Excellent park with hiking trails. Loved the easy walks, mostly shaded but some areas are exposed. Lots of picnic tables and bathrooms nearby. Really enjoyed the day.

Lovely walking trails, plenty of parking, nice washrooms on one side but the other side were very questionable. 1 of the trails we wanted to walk were closed down when we went. Lots of great areas for photos but they do have a sign about requiring a permit for photography (I didn't know this was a thing!)

We did 8.7 kilometer due to road closure. We saw green colored garden snake and it was great weather

Nice place for a walk on trails. Parking is not abundant, so it can be somewhat challenging.

Campbell Valley Regional Park is a great mix of open fields, forest trails, and wetlands, making it feel like you’re stepping into the countryside. The trails are mostly flat and easy, so it’s perfect for walking, biking, or even horseback riding. I liked how peaceful it felt—lots of bird calls and quiet corners where you can just slow down. The old Langley Speedway site adds a bit of history, and the picnic areas are well-kept if you want to make a day of it. It’s also dog-friendly, which makes it a popular spot for locals.

Sucia Island, located in the San Juan Islands, is a picturesque destination known for its unique shape and an array of hiking trails. It is considered one of the greatest boating destinations in the world, offering miles of shoreline and sea caves to explore. As the largest of the three outer San Juan Islands, Sucia Island provides various options for visitors, including remote beaches and incredible sea life.
Fossil Bay, Echo Bay, Shallow Bay, Snoring Bay, Ewing Cove, Fox Cove — something for every experienced boater, whether you want a social dock atmosphere, a secluded anchorage or something in between. It gets busy in boating season, but distance from any services keeps it from being overrun. Many well-maintained hiking trails, spectacular views at every turn, interpretive and directional signage tell the human and geological story (and you might even spot a fossil yourself), clean/stocked pit toilets. Fantastic kayaking along water-carved sandstone bluffs. Watch for herons, seals, otters and even occasional cavorting orcas in the strait between Sucia and Matia Islands.

Wonderful hiking area with many trails and beautiful beaches. Good anchorage and easy access to the beach. Amazing site for whale watching and bird viewing.

Didn't think I'd like it before we got there. Was I wrong! FYI...You can only get there by boat. Enjoyed a nice hike and beautiful scenery.

We had a wonderful time at REC retreats doing rock mandala painting and journal making with 6th graders on our end of year school trip. The home is beautiful and rejuvenating, and there were so many thoughtful touches. Thank you Kjerstin for a memorable time!

I went to REC Retreats for a weekend workshop. From the moment I walked in the door, I felt like I was coming home. Kjerstin was an amazing host. It was such a treat and I truly felt relaxed and comfortable. The meals were amazing, tasty and plentiful. The workshop was fabulous and it was fantastic to connect with so many wonderful women. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

I have just returned from a fabulous one-day workshop with Joanna Powell Colbert at Kjersten's gorgeous REC Retreat center on magical Lummi Island. Kjerstin has created a remarkable space for individual retreat and community gatherings! Her attention to detail and tender loving care is reflected in the spotless and tastefully decorated rooms; the scrumptious food; and creative and playful possibilities for learning and pleasure (both business and pleasure).

What a fun event at REC Retreats! My daughter-in-law and her mom and I attended the wreath making class and had a blast! Kjerstin had everything (and more) that we needed to make a beautiful wreath to take home. With the lovely Christmas music and hot apple cider we now feel ready for the holidays! This was my second time at REC and I highly recommend her venue and programs!

As a workshop teacher / facilitator ... I love working with Kjerstin at REC Retreats. I’ve taught two workshops there with a third one coming up, and I plan to offer more in the future. Kjerstin makes it so easy for me as a facilitator to focus on what I do best (teaching) while she creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere and makes every participant feel right at home. I’m grateful that I don’t have to think about the details of setting up the space or coordinating meals and snacks, or the administrative work of registration. Her attention to detail is extraordinary; she is always thinking of ways to make the gathering spaces more inviting and ways to make the workshops flow seamlessly. I love collaborating with Kjerstin and I hope we continue our partnership for many years to come! As a participant ... I loved easing into the holiday season with Kjerstin’s Wreath Making workshop at REC Retreats. I was delighted with the sparkling lights, the Yule tree in the corner, the soft Christmas carols playing, the mulled cider, and the frosty water decorated with raspberries and rosemary sprigs. I was just delighted. I felt like I was being warmly welcomed into a home, not just a workshop studio. Kjerstin’s attention to detail wasn’t limited to being a gracious hostess. She had a wide array of supplies available for creating beautiful wreaths. There were all kinds of greens … cedar, fir, boxwood, rosemary, and more. There were pine cones, dried seed pods, curly maple branches, red osier dogwood twigs, rose hips, and more I can’t name. She had all the tools we needed on hand too. Kjerstin gave a great demonstration on the different ways to make wreaths, and then let us all have at it. Every wreath or swag or garland turned out different, and all so beautiful. It was a lovely evening.

My seven year old son and I attended a cookie flooding workshop hosted by REC Retreats. It was so much fun! Kjerstin, our hostess and teacher, had everything prepared on our arrival, making it easy to dive straight into learning. We were taught how to make royal icing and obtain the right consistency, how to color the icing and properly fill and hold a coronet, and different methods of flooding cookies for a professional looking finish! Kjerstin's easy-going attitude and experience teaching children made this super fun for the kids who produced some truly astounding designs! Adults had a great time, too, and it was so much fun to do this in a group so that we could collaborate on designs and visit while we decorated. We ended with a tea party to share our favorite designs, and went home with a dozen cookies. Absolutely delightful afternoon, and my son has not stopped talking about it! Thank you, Kjerstin!

The accommodations were very comfortable, warm and welcoming. Owner Kjersten Secord was the perfect host, pampering us and ensuring everyone had what they needed to enjoy their stay. She made certain my dietary needs were met (vegan gluten-free) with really awesome food, including locally made vegan gluten-free bread-the best I ever had. My entire weekend experience at REC Retreats was just perfect!
Louise H — Google review
What a fabulous place! Kjerstin has created a haven to spend a day or a weekend basking in her care. I felt nurtured and pampered by her attention to detail in the setting--both inside and out--and in her partnership with the retreat leader to create a meaningful and restful break from life as usual. Her passion for this place she dreamed into being and for those who come to Retreat, Enrich, and Create is obvious. Anyone who leads or attends a retreat or other event here will not be disappointed.
