Pretty cool and free experience on the way to Barkerville
Pawan T — Google review
Going from Barkerville to this was a bit of a letdown. It is free and maintained but lacks that wow factor. Few houses and almost everything was locked up. I thought the general store would be open and selling gifts but no. Don't forget to donate to help them spruce this place up. Not dog friendly.
T — Google review
Wow sad root cellar roped off so cant go in any more not a soul to be seen on a Wednesday July 23 builds were locked up other then could look threw main house doors and windows and barn half doors were open to look in. Guess nothings like it used to be with cut backs to everything

Lovely alternative to Barkerville if you don't want to do the drive out.

We spent some time at Cottonwood House in 1998 We also operate a historic roadhouse hotel, which is located in Langley British Columbia It has been operating for 150 years and we use the name Princess and the Pea Hotel It would be great if Cottonwood House was also open as a hotel
Wally M — Google review
What a beautifully well maintained historical site! We met Jordan who was working there the day we stopped and he was absolutely fantastic, energetic and knowledgeable! I do wish when we went to Barkerville that they would have mentioned or even suggested a stop here as they are both important historical sites. The cabins are a wonderful addition.
Sara S — Google review
What a great part of our history. I met Sharon, a caretaker and herself a part of our history as she's been involved with Cottonwood House as well as Barkerville for 45 years. When she told me that, I mentioned she may have been at Barkerville when I was there as a child. She shared some stories and helped us get to Barkerville. What an absolute gem of a woman and I can't thank her enough. She loves what she does and it showed which warmed my heart. Ty Sharon 🇨🇦❤️ Go see Cottonwood House, it's just down the road from Barkerville and check out the amazing history of the Gold Rush!
Sean H — Google review
Cottonwood house is a great place to camp! They have little cabins, camp sites, & RV hook ups. Nice, big picnic tables & fire pits and firewood can be purchased. The historic site is really neat to check out. They even have a double barn! This is a place we will definitely stat again.

Cute park outside, seen a couple of baby Bambi's with their family passing through the park, thankfully traffic seen them and stopped as they made their way to the railway side.

Fantastic little place. A must see when visiting or passion g through Quesnel.
Beth H — Google review
A great walk through history but some of the displays, especially some of the cabinets with smaller items are poorly lite, thus making it hard to really see them. I also didn't like that a lot of them items weren't labeled about what they were or much to read about them. There are QR codes but with my phone sitting at 20% it wasn't overly helpful to HAVE to use those if I wanted to learn more.

Easy trail, not much change on elevation, view is great. I go there almost every week with kids and each time we feel differently. Great place to go outside breathing fresh air and spending time with family and pets.
Matthew W — Google review
A really serene and beautiful place. We come here to watch the sun rise at least once per winter. Dog-friendly trails, (please keep your animals leashed, not everyone wants to say hi to your dog or has friendly animals,) public outhouses/restrooms, lots of parking, and unbelievable views all within a 12 minute drive of West Quesnel! Do note that depending on the time of year, the conditions can be difficult and/or very wet and muddy. When the snow and ice builds up, navigating the trail can be difficult, and if it's extremely cold, the wind blowing up the cliffs *hurts!* Wear appropriate gear, including hiking boots, as it's a moderately difficult, albeit short hike to the end. But, again, well worth it for the view. :)
Aatu K — Google review
I really enjoyed this easy hike. The trail is well kept. From HooDoos to an amazing view
Louise N — Google review
A short drive west of Quesnel followed by an easy 15 minute walk brings you to the Pinnacle Park viewpoint. While there were good views of the valley and river below, we couldn’t see the hoodoos that well since they were below us. An interesting stop nonetheless.
Herb G — Google review
It’s a short 1km stroll from the parking area to the viewpoint, or a bit longer if you take the trail along the bluff. The bluff actually drops straight down much of the way, so you’d not want to take that side route if you have people who aren’t cautious. The main trail is 1-2 meters wide and smooth gravel. It’s an excellent trail with gentle hills. The pinnacles are beautiful and well worth seeing. They look like the hoodoos at Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. When you reach the bluff overlooking the hoodoos, you can walk to the left and right a ways to see the hoodoos from different angles.
Nancy S — Google review
This place is absolutely incredible. The walk is very easy to get there and if you don't want to do the whole loop, it's only about 30 minutes round trip if you head back the same way after seeing them!
Clayton A — Google review
It was very cool to see the Hoodoos but the signage is not very good. Parks Should do a better job. When you walk along the main trail you will come to a billboard sign put up by the Parks. Turn left there and walk towards the chain-link fence then turn right at the fence and walk along the fence. You will see some of the Hoodoos on your left a few minutes down the trail. You will then come up to a sign that says turn left but it's a bit confusing because they're sort of a couple of roads. Go left but make sure you go along the fence trail. What you want to do is go back and make sure you are against the fence and walk along the fence still because the main hoodoos are in this section. You will think that you saw them in the first section but those are the smaller ones there are bigger ones in the second section but you will miss them if you don't go along the fence line.

Xatśūll Heritage Village

Mentioned on
1 list
Cultural center
Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
Nestled on a scenic bluff overlooking the Fraser River, Xatśūll Heritage Village offers an immersive experience into the rich spiritual and cultural traditions of the Xatsull First Nation community. Visitors can embark on daily tours that showcase a mock Indian village, where they can learn about native culture from knowledgeable guides, including local elders. The journey to this hidden gem involves navigating steep switchbacks, but those who make the trek are rewarded with stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere perfect for relaxation.
This is located on a bluff down a series of steep but doable switchbacks to an area just above the Fraser River. There's camping available there and somebody even brought a huge big rig towed camper down that steep trail. There's electricity and a pretty funky pit toilet I didn't see the camp host but I think there's someone there from 9:00 to 5:00 or so. I think during the summer they build up a mock Indian village which they will give you tours of and talk about native culture. I was there in the fall and missed all of that but the place was super need anyway
Doug M — Google review
So beautiful here will return. It's my favorite place to check out when I'm around. Peaceful and the water is beautiful.
Georgia J — Google review
This is a neat place to walk around and enjoy a view as well as a few structures used by the villagers. We had the option of paying $5/person to walk around unguided or $20 for a guided tour. We elected to go on our own and by the end we were happy with it. “Village” isn’t exactly the word I would use for what we saw. Going inside the underground hut was really neat. Geologists will enjoy the exposed rock down by the river.
Kim S — Google review
Absolutely not worth the stop. Although, this place has a lot of potential. The three teenagers who sat at the entrance just stared at us. I had to literally drag out information, in order to get *something* in return for my 10 CAD Turns out the tipi's are purchased ones and only put there to attract tourists. Two of the three pit houses are plain dangerous to enter since they're in total decay. The third pit house is actually a very nice one, but without information or explanation, it remains a home in the ground... A real shame, because the spot has real potential. On the other side, I can understand. Keeping open and tidy such place and provide animation with only 2 or 4 visitors per day is a real challenge. My advise? Throw in some smart advertising, organize activities for the kids and... please... Instead of sitting there staring at your iPhones, welcome the guests, and at least say hi and pretend you're proud of your ancestry... Repair some of the installations. It's only wood and rope... The current ones are rotten to the bone.
Stef A — Google review
Had a really interesting chat with a Native American elder who looks after the site. A beautiful place hidden away at the end of a twisty gravel road. Was a little hard to find but just keep going down the hill and you will get there. Well worth the stop despite the village requiring some maintenance after the teepee covers were left outside over the winter and unfortunately perished. It’s a lovely quiet place to rest though especially on a sunny day.

Williams Lake Visitor Centre

Visitor center
Chamber of Commerce
This place is not just a visitor centre. It is actually a mini museum too. There are very beautiful pieces for show and sell, and there is also a section that is dedicated to the history of town. I absolutely recommend recommended to anyone who love to see and learn more. We spend almost an hour enjoying everything. And we bought some nice souvenirs, refrigerator, magnets, and stickers from town.
Mina — Google review
Very friendly staff. Clean washroom. Must check out their museum inside.
Chen L — Google review
Love the place when it's open, but twice now, it was supposed to be, and it wasn't. This is shameful for a town that needs tourism money to get by on, and our very own Visitor Center is closed? What good is it if it's only open when it's convenient for the staff? Update: Well we finally went during the week, and lo and behold, now we have to pay! Oh, I know, it's a recommended and suggested donation, but c'mon. We pay our taxes, we contribute to the town, and yet we have to pay to walk around in a museum that really never changes, except for all the Indigenous influences? No thank you. What a joke.
Paul B — Google review
One of the nicest visitor centres in BC's Interior, no doubt. A stunning, huge log building, friendly staff and a wonderful place for events and celebrations.
Thomas S — Google review
This was an unexpected gem of a stop! Plan to spend some time here - not just a bathroom break! The architecture of the building itself and the design and decor outside and in is very captivating and interesting! Once inside, there is a lot of information available in the visitor centre portion of the building. We got interested in many of the unique items in the main floor gift shop as well. There are many First Nations inspired or created items of clothing, jewelry, t-shirts, home decor, puzzles, and so much more it’s hard to describe it all. It’s also just very visually stunning. Beyond that, the rest of the building is a museum of the history of the area that has some incredible pieces and information and could really take you a full day or more to read and inspect all the artifacts and information! This has been really well done across a few floors of this stunning log building. There was also a refreshment bar inside the gift shop however we didn’t order anything from that.
Charlene W — Google review
Very helpful staff. They provided ideas and useful information while we were stranded for days in Williams Lake during the #bcstorm that closed all roads to Vancouver. An impressive building with lots of great merchandise and gifts. The parking lot connects up with a biking trail. Good local info available on the exterior kiosk boards. Loved the mural walk!

Scout Island Nature Centre

Nature preserve
Nature & Parks
Park
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Scout Island, located on the west end of Williams Lake off South Mackenzie Avenue, is a true gem for anyone looking to enjoy a walk or hike in nature. This beautiful area, which consists of two islands connected to the mainland by a vehicle causeway, offers a peaceful escape with plenty to see and do. Whether you're interested in exploring nature trails, relaxing by the beach, or simply enjoying a picnic, Scout Island has something for everyone. Features of Scout Island One of the standout features of Scout Island is the Nature House. The Nature House is run by the Williams Lake Field Naturalists and sits overlooking the large marsh next to the island. It offers displays, educational programs, and plenty of information about the sensitive and diverse environment of Scout Island. It's a great spot to learn about the local ecosystem, especially for anyone interested in wildlife and natural habitats. The island itself features a series of nature trails that wind through a largely undisturbed environment, rich in bird and small wildlife habitats. It's perfect for birdwatchers or anyone who loves observing small animals in their natural setting. You'll find a variety of birds and other wildlife that call this place home, making it a great spot for photography or simply taking in the sights and sounds of nature. In addition to its natural features, Scout Island also has a beach area, picnic grounds, and a boat launch. These amenities make it an excellent place to spend a whole day, whether you're hiking the trails, enjoying a swim, or having a picnic with family and friends. A Community Treasure Owned by The Nature Trust of British Columbia and leased to the City of Williams Lake, this 9 hectare nature sanctuary has been protected since it was purchased. The community has truly embraced Scout Island as a cherished place to connect with nature, relax, and enjoy the outdoors. Whether you're a local or just visiting Williams Lake, Scout Island is definitely worth a visit. Its mix of well-maintained trails, beautiful scenery, and opportunities to learn about the local ecosystem makes it an excellent destination for walkers, hikers, families, and nature lovers alike.
Thomas S — Google review
Nice relaxing place within the city limits. We were able to walk around and see some deer and her babies and some beautiful white pelicans. I've only seen grayish looking ones in Florida so this was a treat. Lots of wildflowers and trails to walk through. There was a cougar in the area so we didn't travel to far from the view if others. All in all, a great day. Hope you enjoy it too..
Booyaka ( — Google review
Great place to hike. My dog was able to take a swim at the far end in Williams Lake lake.
Paul J — Google review
Scout Island makes you feel like you’ve stepped out of the city and back into nature. The trails are well-maintained and easy to navigate, perfect for a quiet walk. There’s great open spaces and forested paths with great views. The Painted turtles are often sun bathing on logs, and the occasional muskrat or beaver tend to appear frequently. It’s a great spot for nature lovers, bird watchers, or anyone just needing an escape from the daily hustle. Great little spot right in town that I’d recommend to anyone coming to Williams Lake!
Craig — Google review
This is such a neat spot for a walk. You are right in the city, and feel far away. The new board walks and gravol have been a wonderful upgrade, and there are so many animals in the area. We saw Swans, Ducks, Martin, Deer, and a Hawk. The walk takes you around the edge of the island, with trails that cut through if you want a shorter/longer time. Many view points with benches, and a spot for summer swimming or a picnic.
SB — Google review
This was a very peaceful place to go for a walk on a sunny afternoon. There are several spots to view the river, and it looks like it would be a great spot to go birdwatching.
Vivian M — Google review
Nice walks in a peaceful setting. I saw deer, and a fox as well as several bird species. Two years ago, I saw pelicans. Watch where you step in the open areas because of Goose droppings.
Caroline E — Google review
Love it. Always peaceful and beautiful. Nice people on the trails, great conversation if wanted, or simply a peaceful stroll can always be had. Lots of beautiful places for viewing and photos. Picnick benches for lunch. Nice little beach for the kids and a generally well taken care of boat launch.

Nestled in the Cariboo region, Mount Timothy Recreational Resort offers a fantastic ski experience with sunny skies and pristine snow. The resort is known for its exceptional value, small crowds, and friendly atmosphere. Visitors can stay in hand-built log cabins crafted on-site and may even encounter some friendly dogs around the lodge. The resort provides a unique skiing experience operated by welcoming Cariboo locals, making it a hidden gem worth exploring.
Just got back from a weekend trip to Mt Timothy. We rented 3 cabins and had a great time. The cabins, the lunch at the Yeti cafe, the staff, especially the GM and the owners; the fire pits everywhere, with loads of firewood; groomed runs, the mountain!!!! Lots of runs for every skill level. So much more..we’ll probably see you again in March. 😊

So much snow. Not far out 100 mile house. Licensed club house with fair prices. Easy to have a good time !
Colten T — Google review
Affordable skiing, on a north facing mountain significantly increasing snow quality. This is what BC skiing is about, an organization that refuses to adopt vail resorts model of squeezing every last penny out of you for day tickets. On that alone i wholeheartedly give them 5 STARS
Tom S — Google review
Fantastic facility. Now open year round. Has beautiful scenery. Trails in winter for both down hill skiing and cross country skiing. Snowshoe and snowmobile trails. Off winter there are mountain biking, hiking, quading and sxs trails . Cafe and lounge as well as Cabins.... great get away spot.
Daniel B — Google review
Great Family Ski Resort. I was there with my son for his school trip. The staff did an amazing job keeping up with the high demand of 6 classes of elementary students plus public skiers. Nice to have the carpet lift on the bunny Hill and a chair lift for comfort up to the peak
Kenton T — Google review
What a fantastic recreational resort. It is well set-up offering an Okanogan ski experience, except it is operated and staffed by very friendly Cariboo folk. There were visitors there from Whistler staying in the cabin next door. That says it all! It wasn’t their first visit either. I almost don't want to share and just keep it our little secret, but we met the owner today. He was fantastic and deserves the accolades. He has only just started. I can't wait to see what he and his team accomplish over the summer.

108 Heritage Site

Local history museum
Sights & Landmarks
108 Heritage Site is a must-visit stop on your journey. The well-maintained grounds offer a perfect place to rest, with picnic tables and informative heritage buildings. The museum staff are knowledgeable and friendly, adding to the experience. While visiting the site and local trails, it's important to leash up your dogs to respect the wildlife in the area. On market days, the atmosphere is peaceful with quality crafters and historic buildings that are well maintained.
If you're passing through, stop for a break here. Great place to stretch your legs and enjoy the past. The buildings are so well preserved and presented.

A nice heritage walk located on the side of the highway. Give you a nice peak as far as 1867. There is a nice lake just behind the heritage structures. Can be a great way to spend peaceful time with family and kids. This site is not supported by the government so donations are appreciated.
Manzil T — Google review
This is an impressive museum that is privately owned, no government funding. There is no admission fee, but donations are appreciated. The displays really give a sense of what life was like for the early settlers here. They must have searched high and low for all the little things to complete the various rooms such as contents of the fridge and cupboards in the kitchen. Most rooms had one or even two mannikans in period clothing. The various buildings were equally outfitted. Great job!
Linda M — Google review
Stopped here for a rest stop, and honestly such an amazing, well kept historic site. It's all run by volunteers and donations, so please donate even a bit to help keep this beautiful place alive. Clean, manicured yards, excellent write-ups... Such a treasure in the heart of British Columbia.

Beautiful place to stop and take a break. For all ages. Stretch your legs. Go for walk. Very well looked after.

What an amazing site! And it doesn't cost anything to view. I'd suggest donating as they seem to operate on donations. Check out the barn with the Sheriff's office. They have food trailers on site, although they are somewhat pricey.

Ranch
The Flying U Ranch is a serene getaway where guests can enjoy wood cabins, horseback riding, and delicious meals free of charge. This ranch offers a saloon and an array of activities for everyone to experience. Visitors can revel in the feeling of freedom that this place provides. Furthermore, it is one of the most dog-friendly places in America. The ranch promises an enjoyable time with its down-to-earth environment and abundant trails open to explore.
Just two words needed: absolutely fantastic! My girlfriend and I stayed for 5 nights. We had different expertise levels (I never sat on a horse before & my girlfriend had some bad experiences in the past), but we got the perfect horses for us, thanks to head wrangler Angela. Cowboy Steve was also absolutely incredible, he was a perfect guide and instructor, and above all an amazing person. Furthermore, all the staff was kind and the food was amazing. The cabin was a quite rustic, but suited the overall experience. We flew in from The Netherlands for our holiday in Canada and Flying U was definitely our highlight. We would definitely fly in again for Flying U. (We absolutely loved our horses Albright and Blackie)

What a truly magical place! From the moment we arrived, we felt like part of the family thanks to the incredible hosts. The ranch is breathtaking – beautiful horses, a sparkling lake, and a peaceful atmosphere that’s pure magic. Our son rode a horse for the very first time (a moment we’ll never forget!) and even went tubing on the lake because the lovely owner encouraged not just him, but us as parents, to give it a go. The meals were another highlight – fresh, healthy, and incredibly tasty, prepared with so much care. Every moment here was filled with beauty, joy, and genuine warmth. Our 5-day stay at Flying U just ended and now we're leaving what feels like new-found family behind. Both staff and guests welcomed and accepted us so readily that it honestly made it difficult to leave, which is something I don't say lightly. The culinary experience also blew us away. The care which Justin and his team paid to ensuring our bellies and hearts were full was extraordinary. The attention to detail and timeliness of all the experiences being offered were also impressive, be they the barn staff saddling the horses in time for outings, the meal service, or tubing on the lake. The atmosphere John's team at Flying U created was truly admirable and deeply appreciated. What a timeless experience we had.

I booked last fall to bring my family up this summer for the unique experience I knew the U could provide. Unfortunately the ranch no longer offers unsupervised riding, and it seems that management didn't think it important to notify any of their reservations of this change nor make the update very obvious on their website. I can guess why, but the lack of communication felt sleazy either way. That said, the wranglers and staff really do seem to be doing everything they can to make the experience just as great as ever. The food was really, really, tasty this year, and everyone working was incredibly helpful and friendly. Though you do have to sign up for specific rides beforehand, the wranglers are flexible to the group's wants and needs, and we were able to go out as our own family group for many rides. Horses were wonderful, people were great, communication could be improved.

So I went for 7 days as a single and thoroughly enjoyed myself, so many interesting people to chat with and get to know, beautiful scenery and lots of trails to ride!, they have horses for all abilities and do a great job of matching you up with a great ride, the wranglers are wonderful and professional and of course you must ride with Cowboy Steve! The weather was hot when I went and so I opted for morning rides and afternoons at the dock across the street for dips in Green lake and wonderful boat rides with Captain John! Am definitely going to go again and would recommend it to anyone who loves being outside.

How to define a place that is pure magic for nature lovers, if not simply MAGICAL ?!?!?! Guys it itook me a while to write you a review: we have been your guest at the end of june 2025, almost 5 weeks have passed and I can still see my daughter's eyes the moment she realized that she would sleep in a cabin LITERALLY next door to the horses' stable !! :-) even better, that she would find almost every morning her favourite horse out of the cabin's door , snacking and asking for cuddles !!! :-) a Special mention also to your Staff, they made our staying at the ranch really special !! Best vacation ever !! we'll come back, we wanna earn that PIN you give to your loyal guests !! :-) Hugs to you all from Geneva !

Second visit this year - comfy bed both times, clean cabin, quiet in the evening. Food is always very good. Staff is all friendly and accommodating. We arrived just after lunch so the kitchen served us a plate of sushi and honeydew melon so we could eat and then get to the barn for the afternoon ride. Horses have all been excellent and wranglers give helpful instruction without being overbearing. Great system in place to track riders and bring quick assistance to any independent riders. Looking forward to the next visit in the spring!

Green Lake Provincial Park is a hidden gem in the heart of British Columbia, offering a wide range of activities such as water skiing, tubing, canoeing, and hiking. The park features picturesque campgrounds like Sunset Beach with stunning views and clear waters perfect for kayaking. Despite the cold temperatures in July, the crystal-clear lake provides an excellent opportunity for swimming and wildlife sightings. The campground offers good privacy and is suitable for families with children.
Great swimming lake that seems to be warmer then you would expect. It's a bit windy but absolutely beautiful. The campsite is excellent and very private and well placed apart. We are planning a repeat visit and I would highly recommend visiting or camping.
Darcy F — Google review
Sites are quite generous size, nicely treed and offer privacy. The lake is beautiful. Sunsets are gorgeous.
Janet W — Google review
Site #10, no services, end sure so we had a beautiful green space to gather with family and friends during the day. Great salmon fishing off the bank of the river. Our friend caught his limit each day he went out. Clean washrooms, well run. Only gave it 4 stars because of the noisy trains and no sani dump. However, there are 8 sites with 30 amp power. Great beach for swimming. We will definitely go back. Lots of, if not all the sites have lake or river view
Ivy T — Google review
I stayed in Arrowhead campsite, which is a bit squeezed between road and lake and not as private as some of the other provincial park sites around the lake. But great views and access to the lake. Really sunny-morning location. Boil-water advisory in place June 2024, so plan ahead.
Jody P — Google review
Placid, crystal clear lake with secluded, well-run campsites. Friendly hosts! We enjoyed the interpretive hike through the woods, listening to the breeze among the poplars, and relaxing with a good book.
Susan W — Google review
One of the most beautiful national park camp sites I have ever been to. We spent 3 nights in S23, the Sunset beach camp grounds and it was a quite scenic. During July, when you hear temperatures are rising you will find water at this park is still cold but crystal clear so you can see the shallow lake bottom from the Kayak. With Sun out and longer becomes the days you can enjoy beautiful sunsets and breath taking 📸 pictures in the morning. Entire sky is reflected on water. So beautiful. If I compare Alouette lake camp grounds to this, I would say Green Lake is 10 when Alouette is 8, in a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is best. Some facts: No flush toilets. Pit toilets are truly clean and has sanitizer. Not overly crowded. Large trees and good amounts of shade. Needs bugs spray. There are mosquitoes. They will bite somehow so bring after bite lotion. That will help! July nights can go under 10⁰c, having a camp heater is a good idea as well. Sleeping bags are really handy. Greener and fresh compared to Kamloops, not desert, but more green. No boat rentals, so bring your boat or get disappointed! We saw deers. I hear lots of animal calls. Birds are everywhere. Need a binoculars and patience to spot them! There is healthy amount of cellular signal. I was fully connected ;)
Nuwan H — Google review
As you arrive at 70 Mile House driving north on hwy 97 you will see a sign for Green Lake to the right. This is not the official turn off for the provincial park, which is another 2km north. However, it will get you there without any problem. The lake is 9km from the hwy but you will drive a few more km to get to the campground. Make sure you know which side of the lake your campground is on as the road does not circle the lake and you will have to double back if you pick the wrong side. We have camped at both campgrounds and enjoyed them both. Recently we camped at Sunset View which is 12km down the south/east side of the lake. Nice paved two-lane road in good condition. The campground is fairly level, no services, nice beach, nice playground, good shade and quiet. There is a boat launch just outside the campground.

Great lake and campground . we stayed at the sunset campground, there is 3 different campgrounds to chose from .Nice size sites . There is a lot of trees cut from the pine beetle , but the park is still great to camp at . There is a sani-dump at this park . There are also water taps through out the campground . Will be back for sure .

Historic Hat Creek Ranch

Sights & Landmarks
Historic Hat Creek Ranch is a living museum situated on the original Cariboo Wagon Roads, with buildings dating back to 1860. It's located on Highway 99 by the Highway 97 intersection, about an hour west of Kamloops. Visitors can enjoy American breakfast and lunch at the rustic restaurant and participate in educational programs. The site offers a historical walk and interpretive tour, allowing guests to learn about the area's history.
We feel so fortunate to have discovered this wonderful place on our way to 100 Mile House. It is truly a great spot, with friendly and very polite staff, and everything was impeccably clean and beautifully maintained. We especially loved the historic charm of the ranch. There a lot of animals that kids will fall in love. Surprisingly, it seems that not many people know about this gem, but it definitely deserves to be visited. We rented a cabin for the night and enjoyed a fantastic breakfast at the restaurant the next morning. A big thank you to Annet for her warm and gracious hosting, and to the chef for preparing such generous and delicious meals. The combination of price and size is a pleasant surprise. We highly recommend this lovely place to anyone passing through!

We stopped here on our way home from a 6 day road trip through BC and some of Alberta yesterday. It was hot 40 degrees but the site is incredible. It's clean. The blacksmith was wonderful--explaining what he was working on and explaining the process. The restaurant was amazing which was an air conditioned space with a spacious patio overlooking the property. The waiter who served us was polite and attentive. I wish i had gotten his name, but i think he was fairly new--but just had a great vibe. The girl who sold us our tickets, was super polite and explained the map and where to go and what to see. The restaurant is open 7-7 and you don't need to buy tickets to the site to stop and eat. I want to highlight something i thought was important--their animals are well taken care of and their well being is put beyond all else. Normally this place offers carriage rides, and i thought i had arrived early enough i might be able to get one, but as we approached the stage coach office, the handler apologized and explained there would be no more today--it was too hot for the horses. I wasn't even disappointed but happy to see their wellbeing is put ahead of making a buck. All animals had ample water and shaded areas--just not roasting in field in the 40+ degree heat. Well done Hat Creek Ranch we will definitely stop for some eats next time we are driving through.

I absolutely loved my stay at this place. I have raved about it to my friends and family! The cabins were beautiful as well as the shacks! If you camp in a tent the miner shack should be basically the same if not a step up! I genuinely would recommend this to families, couples, even singles if you are looking for a weekend getaway! The restaurant is fair priced, and the neighbours were extremely friendly! It didn’t get loud at night time, and there was tons of wild life and live stock to see around the area! 1000/10 would recommend the miners shack if you aren’t looking for a glam get away, but just a basic camping experience with a bit of a twist this is definitely the place for you and your family! It was also EXTREMELY fair priced! There isn’t much to do around the area but the actual stay on the ranch itself was wonderful and exceeded my expectations! *we brought all the stuff you see in on the inside photos of the shack! (Battery operated lights, air mattress etc..)

A very interesting place to visit! The historic buildings with Indigenous history make it a perfect spot to learn more about Canadian heritage. The restaurant has delicious food and great service, and the whole site is well maintained. Definitely worth stop by!
Joel S — Google review
We had a fabulous experience! The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The forecast turned and a rainy night was predicted. As we were tenting they offered us an upgrade to the Miners Shack. We are so very grateful, especially as we listened to the pouring rain throughout the night.
Anita H — Google review
Historic Hat Creek Ranch is a quirky, worthwhile stop if you're road-tripping through the Cariboo. The site blends Indigenous history with Gold Rush-era settler stories, and the guided tours do a decent job of showing both sides. The original roadhouse is well-preserved, and the wagon rides add a fun touch for families. The Indigenous Interpretation Site is thoughtful, though it deserves more space and attention. Downsides? It can feel a bit commercial—some areas lean more toward touristy than educational. Food options are limited, and the gift shop is hit-or-miss. Still, it’s a unique place to stretch your legs, learn something, and connect with BC’s layered past.

Our group decided to stop in on our way northbound, we saw the signs and stopped for breakfast, we had a fairly large group, three families travelling together. Once we were greeted and sat our server politely notified us that due to the large group and having one server and cook on shift the wait might be an extra few minutes, which is no big deal we’re quite used to that now with our group. But I will say, the food was excellent, it didn’t take extra time at all, (so it seems) and the presentation was beautiful for every dish, even better so, it was delicious and the portion sizes were amazing for the price. We highly recommend stopping in to the restaurant to eat and experience the friendly staff, our server Anett was more than accommodating, very friendly and on the ball!! Excellent in talking and handling the childeren we had with us Good service Anett! We didn't get a chance to catch the name of the chef that cooked for us, only that he was part of the local indigenous band, and happy to cook for us. To you sir, thank you for a lovely meal! We’ll be talking about this place on the rest of our trip home, thanks to the hat creek ranch staff

Very nice campground by the river. I didn't mind trains as some people mentioned in their reviews. Clean bathrooms, beautiful nature and we had a bonfire (probably the last one this year :D) And bonus: we saw northern lights!!!! Beautiful!

We loved it there, an Oasis in the beautiful desert. Well maintained lots, great knowledgeable staff. Would have received additional stars if it weren’t for the high pitched squelching from passing trains. River is beautiful to watch, incredibly peaceful!

We had a short 2 night stay recently at site #4 on the riverbank. Pros: -The Hosts keep the park immaculate. Even flower baskets hanging from the pit toilets! -The setting is beautiful and we enjoyed a nice breeze from the river on a +33 degree day. -Our site had power which was also much appreciated. Cons: -No wifi at the site. (I know, first world problem .... Quit whining right?) It was accessible a short walk away in the upper parking lot, so we could check in with family. -TRAINS. Ok we knew that they were going to be there prior to booking. There are trains on a regular basis both across the river AND behind us. No whistle blowing which was appreciated. After the first night we got used to them though. -Guys on the site next to us parked their trailer really weird, which kinda infringed on our 'personal space'. They also smoked weed in the evening so we couldn't sit outside as the stench was awful. That sucked. That all being said, we have booked another stay in a couple of weeks, so, really it wasn't that bad. Overall we enjoyed our stay. :)
Wendy S — Google review
We had a great first come first serve campsite right on the river with power and water. Fly fishermen were having great days on riverbank and we enjoyed watching. One fisherman kindly offered us a salmon. Fish were plentiful - mostly pink and sockeye salmon. Outhouse are clean. No showers. Dumping station available. As others have said the trains are frequent and noisy. I live by trains so am used to it but these are different - think screeching metal. We often covered our and our dog's ears -- and we are not babies about these things. Overall the great spot outweighed the downside of trains.

Juniper Beach is nestled between the C.P. and C.N. rail lines and beside the Thompson River. Most sites have power and water. There is also a sani dump on site. It can get hot here, but there's a nice low flow area of the river for swimming.
Mandy P — Google review
Beautiful spot for a day outing/picnic. The park is well maintained and the staff are friendly but if its a quiet night you're wanting you better be use to the sound of trains running past on both side of the campground all night long roughly one train every 60 minutes from 10pm until 4am the night we were there. Didn't sleep much as a result. There is no sound barrier/buffer between the tracks and the tenting area. Possibly not as bad where the RVs camp but we were told we had to camp in the tenting section since we had a tent and not an RV. Basically we paid $25 so as to not get any sleep. Will be returning for a picnic/day outing but will not be staying over night again.
S S — Google review
Stayed here for 2 nights and absolutely loved it! Beautiful spot right on the river. Had a great time sitting down at the river watching all the salmon make their way up the river to spawn. The trains are frequent and loud but didn't bother us at all. There is no cell phone reception , we had to walk up to the parking lot which wasn't far and not a big deal at all. Huge shout out to Betsy the park operator! She was so kind, and very funny! We will definitely be back!

Still a beautiful place to visit. The bridge is built strong enough to withstand centuries of changing harsh conditions. The parking lot is just on the approach of the bridge, there's a concrete wooden tables for picnic purposes, the views around are spectacular. This is worth the visit.

We made a stop here while driving from Whistler to Clearwater. It's such a different landschape from Whistler. The bridge is a cool piece of history. It gives some nice views of the river. You can park nearby for free, it's a 5-minute walk to the bridge. It was quite hot, so don't forget sunscreen.

What. A. Stunning. View. Lillooet continues to enthrall and amaze us. Located mere minutes away from the main town just before the Lillooet Brewing Company, the bridge is a majestic glimpse into the towns history. The local Indigenous Communities fishes in this area, so please be respectful and not disturb them (they have specific signs saying that there’s no fish for sale). You can park really close to the bridge and walk through it (pedestrian only!!), with a stunning view over the Fraser River. The river, along with the mountain back drop, is simply breathtaking. Don’t miss it if you’re in, or even just passing by Lillooet!

The Lillooet Museum, located in a historic church, showcases a diverse collection of artifacts from the region's past. Visitors can explore items from the gold mining era, including tools and equipment. The museum also features an old jail cell with bunk bed cots for an immersive experience. Additionally, there are displays related to the Cariboo and Lillooet history, First Nations culture, and early settlers' daily life.
We visit here as part of our journey of "Gold rush trail history" all the old utensils and stuff is amazing to see how they preserve it and well maintain it. This is a free visitation but they have a donation fee to maintain the museum. Its very details all knowlegable all the stuff from history. Much be visit!

The Lillooet Museum is filled with charm and history—but I do wish it was laid out with more of a storyline or timeline to follow. Right now, it feels a bit like walking into someone’s garage filled with amazing relics, but without a clear path or narrative to guide you through the experience. That said, the collection is incredible. There’s so much to see: old tools, clothing, local artifacts, and pieces of early settler and Indigenous history. I love vintage telephone booth with the switchboard, hence the term switchboard lol If you’re into local history and enjoy discovering things at your own pace, this place is worth a visit.

The museum/info center is situated in an old church. There are some artifacts outside the museum/info center and the inside is full of interesting and important historical pieces. I had a photo taken inside an old jail cell, complete with bunk bed cots. I enjoyed the downstairs area which had a historical printing press, old newspapers and things like that. The main floor had a lot of things from the gold mining days, tools, and stuff. The stop isn't a long one, you could probably see everything in 15-30 minutes give or take a bit. The visitors info center people were the best. Betty and Tarryn were so patient with answering all our questions and had some tips for interesting places for us to check out, where to eat, and so on. Yes, Lillooet is a small town and it may not have been hard to find some of the info on our own, but learning about where the osprey nest is, or the best place to look for other forms of wildlife, or where the hidden hiking trail is for the best view of the lake... That's the cool stuff that only locals would know.

I’ll wait 😉💛 The stunning view, the clean and modern design, the gorgeous patio that has a cover so my pale boyfriend doesn’t burn (😛), the kind, knowledgeable people who work here (Shoutout to Jeremy and the other person whose name we forgot to grab- dynamic duo!!). If you don’t stop by here when you’re in Lillooet, then I’d say you haven’t visited Lillooet at all 🤭 Edit: We couldn’t resist and came back to Lillooett two months later…🫣 Our second visit to Fort Berens absolutely lived up to the hype we built up in our heads the first time. Glad to report that the rose coloured glasses came off and it’s just as amazing and magical ;) Happy to see Jeremy again, thanks for taking such good care of us as always!

After a long and scenic drive, we treated ourselves to a visit at this beautiful winery, and it was absolutely worth it. The setting is stunning, with a peaceful patio overlooking the landscape, making it the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the sounds of nature. We sampled all the wines on offer and ended up settling in with a bottle of their crisp, refreshing rosé paired with a charcuterie board - a perfect combination. The wines were lovely across the board. We also picked up a bottle of their super dry and delicious cider to enjoy later at our final destination for the evening. Make sure to ask about them too! A great bonus: your tasting fee is waived with the purchase of two bottles. Friendly staff, great wine, and a gorgeous view make this spot definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area. Cheers!

Beautiful stopping off point to do a wine tasting and enjoy the views. Jeremy was so friendly & knowledgeable about the wines - and we really enjoyed our tasting. If you buy two bottles of wine- the tasting is free. The price on the bottles start at an affordable 19$!

An absolute must see if traveling through Lillooet. Even more so, get in touch with them ahead of time to try to set up a tour/tasting. Tammy gave the tour, and my goodness, she is passionate and knowledgeable and made the tour and tasting even better.

We had such a wonderful experience at Fort Berens Winery! The wines were absolutely delicious, each with its own character and depth. The staff were warm, welcoming, and made the tasting so enjoyable. A real highlight was getting the chance to chat with their incredibly knowledgeable winemaker, who generously took time out of his busy schedule to share insights with us. It made the visit feel extra special. Highly recommend visiting if you love great wine and genuine hospitality!

Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park, located 90 kilometers north of Whistler, offers a serene mountain lake with a sandy beach and stunning views. The campground provides 40 first-come, first-serve sites for trout fishing and canoeing enthusiasts. While facilities are limited to pit toilets, the park is popular for activities like wildlife viewing, hiking, and biking. Visitors can enjoy a beautiful day-use area with a grassy space, beach, and picnic tables.
Pretty cool camping place. There are a couple of hikes you can do around here. Nice lake views.

100% recommendation to go and visit there, very beautiful view and warm water except when it meets the creeks. Easy hike right side of the lake. Campsite are good you can easily fit three tents and a car but two recommended. But of drive but worth it. No connection to the outside world no Internet no network, if you feel like you need break the place to go to. Swimming, Paddle boarding, kayaking. Rangers are helpful as well. Clean bathroom pictures aren’t clear pics bc of smoke.

Beautiful mountain lake with a nice day-use area. It's roughly 8 km down a dirt road to get to the lake, but it was totally worth it. We took our young children here for a picnic, and they had a blast. There is a grassy area, a beach, and picnic tables. There were only vault toilets, but that's expected because this place is kind of in the middle of nowhere. I wouldn't recommend the campground here. The sites were way too small and close together for my liking - - and way too close to the road. We'd come back here for another day trip though - - it's really picturesque.
Michael D — Google review
The road to get there is 13 km of gravel, but it's accessible with any car. Note: there's no cell signal at the destination.
Pouya A — Google review
Date April.23,2022 the Birkenhead park still close due to snow and some broken tree, but you can drive up to the gate then walk for another 1.9km which is like 40min-1hour walk. You can drive using 4x4 or regular car but be prepare driving there as there is some loose gravel and not fully renovated drive road. The park it self still amazing specially the lake and snowy mountain. It was flat trail around the campground and there is washroom available when we go up there also we see some people did camping near blackwater lake. It was a family friendly trail. You must visit here.

This place is amazingly beautiful. It's great for camping, kayaking, swimming, fishing and relaxing. Very peaceful place. Sand beach is good for kids. Good camping spots.

A gorgeous lake! I highly recommend renting a canoe, and rowing out to the middle. Go and explore! Go and find the small freezing cold glacial melt waterfalls that feed this gorgeous and clear water.

Campsite is very clean and very quiet with loads of space per site. Nice place to spend a relaxing day at the lake. Service road up there is very manageable also.

Joffre Lakes Park

Park
Nature & Parks
Joffre Lakes Park, located just north of Pemberton in British Columbia, is a picturesque parkland featuring mountain trails and three glacier-fed lakes. The park offers some of the most stunning hiking trails in BC, with challenging climbs that promise spectacular views of jagged mountain peaks, sprawling icefields, and vibrant turquoise lakes. Visitors can also enjoy camping, mountaineering, fishing, and observing the region's wildlife.
This place is absolutely surreal and easily one of the most beautiful trails I’ve ever hiked. We reserved a park pass online 48 hours before our trip, which made planning easy. The trail isn’t overly long, taking us about 4 hours round trip, including plenty of stops and a nice break at the top. We went on a weekday, and it was pretty busy, so I can only imagine how crowded weekends might get. Layers are essential, as are good hiking boots and hiking poles—they made all the difference. Near the parking lot, there’s a small lake called Lower Lake. The longest part of the hike is the stretch between Lower Lake and Middle Lake, which has some challenging sections. However, as an occasional hiker, I was able to handle it without too much difficulty. Once you reach Middle Lake, it’s a short trek to Upper Lake, and you don’t want to miss it—it’s breathtaking. Overall, this was such a fun and rewarding hike. The views were spectacular, especially on an overcast day, which added to the moody, picturesque atmosphere. Honestly, no photos could ever do it justice.

Went 2 weeks ago with a friend. Was one of the first days with the snow so definitely slipping coming down. Although it is a very good hike for all different levels. Really beautiful and quiet for such a popular place. Would recommend to bring some spikes for those who are not avid hikers!
Helena R — Google review
Joffre Lakes is a breathtaking destination, with its stunning glacier views and crystal-clear, bluish waters. The beauty of the first lake is easily accessible, just a 5-minute walk from the trailhead. The second lake, though more challenging due to the steep elevation gain, rewards hikers with even more spectacular scenery. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it to the second hike because we arrived late, but the first lake alone made the trip worthwhile. The park features three beautiful lakes, each offering unique views. In the summer, a reservation and park pass are required, but in the winter season, no reservation is needed. Arriving early is key to enjoying the best views without the crowds. Overall, Joffre Lakes is a must-see for nature enthusiasts!
Jannatul M — Google review
Joffre Lake is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful lakes in British Columbia. The stunning turquoise color of the water gives the lake a unique and magical appearance. The surrounding glaciers add to the breathtaking scenery, making it a must-visit destination. However, be prepared for mosquitoes, especially in warm weather, so don’t forget to bring insect repellent. The hike to the lake is fantastic and well-maintained. The entire round trip takes about 3.5 hours. After about 1.5 hours of hiking, you’ll reach the second lake, which is incredibly beautiful. It’s the perfect spot to sit, relax, and enjoy your lunch while taking in the gorgeous views.
Arash K — Google review
Joffre Lakes is an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking breathtaking natural beauty in BC. The hike to all three lakes – Lower, Middle, and Upper Joffre Lakes – spans about 10 km round-trip with a 370-meter elevation gain. While Lower Joffre Lake is just a quick 5-minute walk from the parking lot and has nice views, it can’t compare to the incredible scenery at the Middle and Upper Lakes. Middle Joffre Lake, the true gem of the trio, offers stunning turquoise waters that have to be seen to be believed. The color comes from glacial silt, which reflects light in a unique way. Upper Joffre Lake, though slightly more challenging to reach, is also impressive, with spectacular views of Matier Glacier and the surrounding peaks at an elevation of about 1,600 meters. The hike itself is moderate, with sections that can be steep and rocky, but it’s well worth the effort for the unforgettable scenery. If you’re looking for a rewarding adventure and some of the best views in BC, Joffre Lakes is the place to go. Make sure to bring good hiking shoes, plenty of water, and a camera to capture the incredible landscapes along the way!
Alireza M — Google review
One of the best hikes I have done. It is not long, but it is not an easy hike with steep hills and rocky trails. There are three lakes, and the views are breathtaking. During summer, a reservation is required, which opens up two days in advance. I would definitely recommend the hike, and if you have time, try to complete the whole hike. It is totally worth it. The colors of lakes are amazing. These are all unedited photos and videos.
Zee M — Google review
One of the best places I have visited in the world. The views are beyond imagination. The 5 km hike one way is a bit difficult because of the incline but the views are totally worth it. Getting down is easy comparatively. Do not miss visiting the Upper Lake because views keep on getting beautiful as you reach the upper Lake. The experience is out of this world. Such a breathtakingly beautiful. Joffre Lakes Provincial Park is a stunning area located in British Columbia, Canada. It's known for its three vivid turquoise glacier-fed lakes along a hiking trail that leads through alpine forests and past waterfalls up to stunning vistas of glaciers and peaks. It's a popular spot for hiking, camping, and photography, offering breathtaking natural beauty. Highly recommended place.
Saurabh D — Google review
I recently visited Joffre Lakes and, as a newcomer to hiking with a mostly sedentary lifestyle, I was both nervous and excited about the challenge. Despite knowing it would be a tough uphill trek, I was eager to experience the beauty I’d heard so much about. The first lake is just minutes away from the parking area and is absolutely stunning. From there, the hike became more intense. It took me nearly two hours to reach the middle lake, with several rest stops along the way. The uphill climb was exhausting, but the moment I caught my first glimpse of the middle lake, all my fatigue melted away. The serene beauty of the lake filled me with a surprising burst of energy. I spent about 30 minutes there, taking pictures and soaking in the view. The final stretch to the upper lake was shorter but more challenging, with an even steeper ascent. However, my eagerness to see the lake kept me motivated. When I finally reached the upper lake, I was awestruck. The world seemed to pause around me. I spent an hour there, sitting on the rocks, removing my shoes and socks, and dipping my feet into the icy glacier water while enjoying my lunch. For anyone planning to visit, I highly recommend bringing plenty of water, food, sunscreen, and bug/mosquito repellents, especially during the summer. Don’t forget to get the free day pass two days in advance at 7 AM. Joffre Lakes is a breathtaking experience worth every step of the hike.

An amazing experience! Eva was a great communicator over text to schedule the ride and Susan was an incredible lead on the ride itself. I’m an intermediate rider who was visiting and Susan was able to accommodate and provide a pace that made the ride interesting and fun. We went through stream crossings, in the forest and through a bit of town. The horses were incredibly calm yet ready to move. I felt safe the whole time and Susan regularly checked in with my comfort. Can’t wait to come back and do a day trip!

We are horse people and wanted a non- nose to tail trail experience. A proper ride. We booked the private ride and this became the absolute highlight of our Canada trip. The horses were some of the best I’ve ever ridden, absolute push button and so responsive, and our guide Eva was so warm and lovely. What a great day!

We went for a group ride for 2HRS, 1 adult and 3 kids, our youngest was only 4yo :) Bob and Susan were so nice and provided her with special saddle :) Great experience for everyone! Horses are well trained and beautiful. Our guide was not very talkative and i really appreciated it, so we were able just enjoy our walk and nature around. The trail goes through the woods and bushes with a nice creek crossing (crossed twice on the way out and back). One huge thing: DO NOT FORGET a bug spray 😀

Best-in-class horseback riding experience. Suitable for beginners or intermediate riders. Highly suggested attraction when visiting Whistler or the surrounding area. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We did the two hour ride. After signing waivers, they matched us with horses that suited each rider. After a short ride through the city, we took a scenic horse trail. The guide gave us the option to run the horses, which was exhilarating. At the midway point, we had a photo op highlighting the beautiful landscape and mountains. Near the end, we even crossed through a stream. 5/5 Experience at a great price. MUST VISIT!

Nairn Falls Provincial Park is a 170-hectare park in British Columbia, offering a seasonal campground, hiking and biking trails, and abundant wildlife. The park is known for its well-maintained facilities and the popular three-kilometer hike to witness the impressive 36-meter Nairn Falls along the Green River. It's advisable to reserve camping areas well in advance due to high demand.
We visited the falls on a weekday, during our trip to Vancouver. This falls was not in our itinerary, but made the stop when we saw it from the highway. So glad we did. We were there at the start of October, and it was not crowded. The hike to the falls is about 1.5km long and mostly flat. The last stretch is rocks though, so if raining, it will get slippery. The falls are very beautiful, along with the stream that flows along the trail. Turquoise blue waters nestled by trees on both sides, really a gorgeous sight to behold. It's bear country, so be safe and aware. Tip: From the main viewing platform, go down further along the rocks, to get awesome views of the stream and a second waterfall.

Amazing Falls! Definitely worth your time. We went in mid February, I would recommend using spikes with your shoes as the path to the falls was very slippery because of the snow. We slipped a couple of times but safely managed to travel back and forth. But it would have to do it again in snow would not go there without the spikes! Beautiful views

This place is a must visit destination in this area. Pleasant hike, fenominal views of the river and falls. We had a wonderful time, thanks to the fair weather at the time. Highly recommend, easy path to walk.
Slava — Google review
Really cool place to visit. The trail to the falls is moderate, as the sign states, steep banks and fast flowing water. Certainly manageable, though, with decent shoes. Kids and elderly persons can certainly manage the walk. I went off the main pathway (not recommended for inexperienced people of course) and got closer to the river. A really beautiful spot overall, I will return one day.
Tim M — Google review
1.5km hike from the parking lot, took me one hour. It's mostly level but I'd recommend hiking boots because there's some small rocks to walk over on the trail. Don't let your children run or ride their bike on the trail as they could end up in the river below and that would be bad! Campsite is pretty sweet next door too but I imagine it's hard to get a spot during summer
Randy E — Google review
Visited twice , water flow varies time to time. 2.7 km hike both ways and takes about 50 min going and coming back. Sounds of waterfalls and that foggy water sprinkles adds beauty to this place . Saw a rainbow during sunny day of the hike. Difficulty level is easy from my experience
Abhi G — Google review
This is a terrific hike not to be missed. It's about 1.5km to the falls on an easy incline with a roaring river on your left the entire time. Try 2-3 hours prior to sunset to get the falls back lit by the setting sun. The volume of water is truly amazing and you see it twist and turn after the falls in the canyons . The hike back is slightly downhill and not technical. Great pit stop if you're in the area.
Alex H — Google review
WOW! Great trail to the falls and so much to see along the wall. WEAR GOOD SHOES. Not much elevation gain at all but the path is somewhat narrow and rocky in some areas. About 2 miles round trip and totally worth it

Lost Lake is a stunning mountain lake near Whistler, perfect for a variety of outdoor activities. It's a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing, and fishing, with floating docks scattered throughout the lake. The area offers hiking and biking trails as well as skiing in the winter months. Locals love to visit this secluded oasis to relax or enjoy activities like Frisbee golf and sightseeing on the nearby ski hill.
Beautiful lake with a lot of picnic tables and a nice loop to walk around. The time that we went, we saw a bunch of tadpoles by the water’s edge and can just imagine all the wildlife that this lake supports. The parking lot is not very big but the lake is walkable from Whistler Village. There are lots of plant life to check out as you walk around the lake. Canine Cove is a place where you can let your dogs out onto the waters for a swim. The beach is nice and sandy and has a few logs to sit at. You can park and lock your bike at many of the bike stations available as well as a single person changing room for changing your swimming attire in the summer. There is also a concession stand open during the warmer months.

What a great place to hike, bike ride, kayak, and picnic! The main trails are wide and well maintained, with beautiful views of the lake. The picnic areas are large with lots of grass and some picnic tables. The restrooms at the park entrance are clean. Parking is a bit limited and there is no RV parking available in the main lot. Wonderful place to spend quiet time by yourself or with family and friends.

The Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre is a modern facility that showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Squamish and Lil'wat Nations. Designed by renowned First Nations architect Alfred Waugh, the center serves as a repository for artifacts and historical documents while also educating visitors about the art, culture, and storytelling traditions of these two distinct nations.
My friends and I recently visited this beautiful cultural centre in Whistler. Aside from the space being bright and inviting, the exhibits were really interesting. We were just in time for a short walking tour that started after a short video in the theater. I recommend watching the video and taking the tour as the lovely lady provided additional information about the exhibits that was very interesting. Two young gentlemen performed a song with drumming that I sat and listened to and found absolutely enchanting. I even got a bit emotional listening to them. The First Nation appreciation of the Earth and nature is something that I truly admire and appreciate. I highly recommend coming to this cultural centre on your visit to Whistler.

Highly recommend you visit this cultural centre when in Whistler. We had lunch on arriving as we had just been up the Peak-to-Peak gondola and needed a rest! The salmon Chowder with bannock (a sort of fried bread roll) was absolutely fabulous. We then joined the tour (starts in the hour). A young man played a drum and sang a traditional song - beautiful and quite moving. Followed by a short video and a guided tour - really helpful to understand the lifestyle, culture and skills if the two tribes (Lil’wat and Squamish).
Martin G — Google review
We decided to check it out on a Sunday morning and it was a really good experience! It’s well managed with detailed instructions and descriptions of the Squamish Lil’wat peoples, who have a long history in the area. They have guided tours that are included in the ticket but you can also do a self-guided tour if you’d like. There are two floors, with the upper floor opening up to an open forest area, which was a highlight for me. It’s a forest walk which helps you understand the significance of trees, animals and all things nature in their culture. Must visit! 5/5

Get here. Soak in the story of this place. Watch the introductory video, then meander through 2 floors of exquisite exhibits. Visit the lodge, and the pit house. Take your time. Then look outside, and feel the history made here. Buy a memento or two in the tasteful (not tacky) gift shop, and finish with a coffee and light dessert. You’ll be glad you came. ❤️

What a wonderful experience at Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre tour. Amazing exhibition and lot of learning during the tour. Outside of walking hill with full of Medison nature of forest west coast region. You must visit this beautiful and educational Cultural Center in Whistler.

We were able to join one of the tours (on the top of the hour) and had such a good experience. I don't think we would have learned as much just reading the signs. I found particularly impressive for how long people used to work on their traditional clothing - as well as all the things that can be made with cedar. The building is beautiful and the exhibits are quite interesting, you can see canoes, regalia, stories, building structure, and learn about the language. There is also a nice gift shop with native art and a café to relax.

Whistler Blackcomb is a renowned year-round resort offering a variety of activities such as skiing, snowboarding, biking, and more. It boasts over 8,000 acres and 200 trails across two mountains. Ski Magazine named it the best overall resort in North America in 2016. The charming Whistler Village provides world-class apres-ski cuisine and fine wines from the Okanagan Valley.
It had always been my dream to ski and snowboard whistler since I was a kid. These mountains did not disappoint. Amazing views on bluebird days, amazing snow on powder days. The runs are well kept and very fun. The lifts are well maintained and fast and the waits were never worse than 10 minutes in late January. The little town at the base has everything you would ever need and more. The restaurants and pubs are fantastic. The atmosphere is fun and exciting. I’d love to come back some day.

Gorgeous scenery. The drive up from Vancouver is worth the trip alone. Massive amounts of terrain. Great snow at the top of the mountain. Awful visibility mid mountain. Slushy at the bottom of the mountain. Village is really great. Went in March. I would definitely go again.

I went during the summer and it was amazing. The scenery is breathtaking with so many hiking and biking trails to explore. Even without the snow the mountains are stunning and the village has a lot of shops, restaurants, and spots to just relax. Staff are friendly and the whole place is well maintained. Definitely a year round destination and one of the best resorts you can visit.

I had the chance to visit Blackcomb Whistler Ski last year, and it was truly one of the best experiences I’ve had on the slopes. The scenery is breathtaking, the facilities are excellent, and everything feels very well organized. That said, as a beginner, I found the runs a bit challenging. Even the green slopes felt more like blue ones compared to other ski resorts I’ve been to. Still, it was a great learning experience, and I’d definitely recommend it for those who are looking for both adventure and stunning mountain views. With a bit more practice, I’d love to go back and enjoy it even more!

This place is a Dream destination for skiing! The snow quality is fantastic, white & powdery ,the slopes are well-groomed, and the scenery is absolutely stunning. Our full day here was worth spending. The management was also very good.

The Peak 2 Peak Gondola is an amazing experience; It starts at Whistler Mountain, takes you to Blackcomb Mountain, and from there you can take another gondola to a different peak before heading back down. The gondola between the peaks is huge, and the blue cabins have glass floors so you can see the valley below. At the top, there are restaurants and cafes, and you might spot Groundhogs. Even in summer, there’s snow and it’s cold, so be sure to bring warm clothes.

Whistler Blackcomb is awesome. I love the fact you can ski during the winter and then buy a very affordable Epic pass to Access the trekking trails and gondola during the summer. Also the Sunday farmers markets are great! Visit "Cows" for the best mint chocolate chip ice cream ever (they have other flavours too if you don't fancy mint) and Portobello at the Fairmont for real belgian chocolate mochas & hot chocolates ! Whistler is dreamy indeed.

Whistler is an incredible place for both snowboarding and biking. I’ve visited in different seasons, and I’m always impressed by the staff, the facilities, and how well everything is maintained. There are lots of trails across both mountains, making it great for all levels—from beginners to pros. Safety is clearly a priority, with support staff always around. While the sports can be pricey, Whistler often has great deals and seasonal passes. I just wish there were more flexible options for frequent visitors. I love this place and will definitely keep coming back.

From gentle green trails to advanced technical descents and long-distance routes, there's something for everyone. Additionally, the park offers cross-country single-track trails that wind through picturesque landscapes like lakeshores and temperate rainforests.
By far the BEST mountain bike park. Everything about the bike park is great. The food, it can use improvement. I mean there really isn’t a grab and go there. Sometimes you want a sandwich but The closest thing is the grocery store but it’s a ways from the lifts.

This year was my second time visiting with my teenage son. The bike park is absolutely exhilarating. While there are green runs it's my opinion this is not for beginners. The park is designed for mountain bikers with developed skills.

Well they call it best park/area for mountainbiking for a reason! So many trails, so much variety. Impossible to not have a good time 😄 Need to come back!
Nina P — Google review
The park is really well built with something for most riders! Great mixture of jump trails and technical trails. There are some really cool trails that incorporate some wooden bridges! The line-ups not so great, expect long waits most weekends!

For mountainbikes the facilities at Whistler are an outstanding place to be and should be high on the to-do list. For travellers who haven't brought their bike there are a good range of shops hiring bikes to suit all riders. I recommend booking in advance. Expect to pay around $140-180 depending on that type of bike. The downhill sections are outstanding in the bike park and cater to all levels of skill. If you're a mountain biker then a visit should be a priority.

The Whistler Sliding Centre, operated by Whistler Sport Legacies, is a cutting-edge facility that hosted the bobsleigh, skeleton, and luge events during the 2010 Winter Olympics. It boasts the world's fastest ice track at nearly 1.5 kilometers in length. Visitors can tour the state-of-the-art venue or partake in thrilling passenger bobsleigh and skeleton rides, reaching speeds of up to 78mph (125kph).
Amazing experience!!! Ride a bobsled! Feel like an Olympian!!! Well organized, knowledgeable staff and super efficient!! The only downside is that it’s only one-ride. Highly recommended.

This was amazing! I was so nervous at first, but it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity! I’m so glad that I got to do it with my 12 year-old son. Everyone was very nice there and very helpful. Thank you!

Had a great time. The staff was great , from the orientation to the pilots. Loved the track walk and the experience. Loved the boost in speed as we got close to the end.

My family toured the centre in August, simply because a facility like this is rare and unique (and my family likes the movie Cool Runnings). It's free to go into the main building and to the track. The centre is located up a windy hill and walking wasn't recommended by the tourist Visitor Centre so we took a cab that was $10 each way. The main building has a bobsled you can jump into and a small display about the history of the spirt and the facility. There's another bobsled you can try outside as well as a section of the ammonia cooled track. It's a small walk up the hill into the track area and you can watch people on their runs. For the runs, you go with a random staff member, two of which were Olympians.

Hollering from actual mountains what an amazing experience Whistler Sliding Centre was!! All proceeds go back to the kids that are crazy enough to pursue this as a sport. ❤️❄️ Thank you for such an awesome night filled with WOWs and laughter!!! 🤘🏼

Absolutely loved our bobsled experience! Staff was super friendly and helpful. You start by being driven to the top of the track and walking down the first part of the track. Really interesting learning about how it all works. We even had a bear walk right past the track while we were on it! As a family of 4, we all fit into one sled with the instructor at the back. The ride was awesome. Super fast but felt safe and controlled. A fantastic experience. Go pro footage available for 29 dollars. Would definitely highly recommend, but next time I would book as two two's rather than a four. You can't really see much of the track as you go down if you're not at the front.

This was such a fun experience. Was fascinating and informative to walk the Olympic sliding track. You really get an understanding of what is involved in the three sliding sports and how fast they go. The actual ride (summer on wheels) is quick but you get the full feeling of what it is like to be on a bobsled. Highly recommend!

While I generally don't care for rollercoasters and other adrenaline-junky activities, the summer bobsledding experience was something I just couldn't pass up during my time in Whistler. After it was all over, I was so glad I did it--what a rush! The staff at the Sliding Centre was great, keeping us calm and confident as we toured the track, donned our helmets, and pushed off from the start line. Our pilot, Peter, (a two-time Olympian and current coach) got us up to just under 90kph, clocking us in with the fastest time of the day. What a great opportunity to participate in such a unique sport! The videos, photos, and memories are things I'll cherish forever. Mike (London, ON)

Nature & Parks
Brandywine Falls Provincial Park is a stunning natural attraction located about 20 minutes south of Whistler. The park features a magnificent 70-meter waterfall cascading over a wall of volcanic rocks, offering visitors breathtaking views from observation decks. Legend has it that the falls were named after a bet between railway surveyors who celebrated with a bottle of brandy upon measuring its height.
Brandywine Falls Provincial Park is a stunning natural gem located just off the Sea-to-Sky Highway near Whistler. The highlight is the breathtaking 70-meter waterfall, surrounded by lush forests and rugged cliffs. The park offers well-maintained trails that lead to several lookout points, providing spectacular views of the falls and the surrounding mountains. It's a perfect spot for a peaceful hike, photography, and enjoying nature. The park also features picnic areas and ample parking. Whether you're visiting for a short stop or a longer hike, Brandywine Falls is a must-see for anyone exploring the Whistler area.

The views at Brandywine Falls are just stunning. Easy parking at the start of the walk to the falls is followed by a beautiful walk though the forest on an easy path, across a train line to that viewing point for the falls. Just beyond this spot there is a stunning viewpoint stretching out across the valley. Highly recommend stopping by.

Amazing place to go but get there early because the parking lot gets packed really quickly. If you're into hiking, try the sea to sky trail. If you want to do the major loop that takes you along the trail all the way to the suspension bridge and then up the gravel road to the bungee jump bridge you're looking at about a 4-Hour to 5-hour hike. If you don't want to be traveling that far then just go to the bungee jump via the wide well-kept trail that is marked at Brandywine just after the railroad tracks. It's 2.7 km and very well maintained almost like a gravel road. Lots of great stuff for you to see and at one of one of the areas. The rock formations are pretty cool. The first time I saw it I thought somebody had laid down some paving stones. Those are some beautiful lakes to sit down and have a lunch.

The waterfall was cool. The area around it showed so much erosion and I was told it gets three times the size of the photos. The surrounding cliff was very beautiful as well. You could see the layers very clearly.
Shams — Google review
Nice simple walk to the falls from the parking lot. Great views of the falls and the water down below from various viewing areas. Recommend to go see if you have a car in the whistler area.

## Brandywine Falls Provincial Park: A Quick Escape with Cascading Beauty Brandywine Falls Provincial Park, located just outside Whistler, offers a beautiful natural wonder easily accessible for travelers along the Sea to Sky Highway. Here's a quick rundown of what to expect: **Majestic Waterfall:** The park's star attraction is the namesake Brandywine Falls, a cascading waterfall tumbling over 230 feet. A short, well-maintained trail leads from the parking lot to a viewing platform offering stunning views of the falls. **Perfect for a Short Stop:** This park is ideal for those seeking a quick break from the car journey. The entire walk to the viewing platform and back takes less than 20 minutes, making it a manageable stop for families or travelers with limited time. **Limited Amenities:** There are no restrooms, shops, or concession stands within the park. Be sure to use facilities and grab any snacks or drinks you might need before arriving. **Easy Accessibility:** Brandywine Falls Provincial Park is very easy to find and access. There's a well-marked parking lot right off the highway, and the trail to the falls is short and paved, suitable for all ages and fitness levels. **Keep in mind:** There have been reports of the parking lot being closed occasionally. It's a good idea to have a backup plan in case you encounter a closure. **Overall:** Brandywine Falls Provincial Park is a great choice for a quick and scenic stop along the Sea to Sky Highway. The impressive waterfall and easy accessibility make it a worthwhile detour for anyone wanting to experience a piece of beautiful British Columbia wilderness. Just be prepared for the lack of amenities and the possibility of a closed parking lot.

Nice little detour on our way to whistler. A short walk along a well kept track to a good view of the falls . The path continues a while longer with more views of the falls and a beautiful view across the valley. We managed to spot a majestic eagle soaring below us in the valley which really made it special.

On a whim, my wife and I decided to go see the Brandywine waterfalls on a Sunday morning and we embarked on a scenic road trip from Vancouver. The parking area near the trailhead is convenient, and there are a decent number of restrooms next to the parking lot. The trail path is well-maintained and is a very easy walk of 10 minutes, making it accessible for most hikers. The trail is dog-friendly, and we encountered several furry friends along the way, which added to the charm of the experience. But oh, the falls! Standing at 70 meters tall, Brandywine Falls is a spectacle to behold. The sheer force of the water cascading down into the gorge creates a mesmerizing sight and an incredible photo opportunity. Despite its popularity, the area never felt too crowded, allowing us to soak in the beauty of nature without feeling overwhelmed by crowds. If you're a nature enthusiast or just looking for a refreshing day trip from Vancouver, Brandywine Falls should be on your list for its ease of access and stunning natural beauty.

Hot Springs & Geysers
Tucked away in the heart of a forest lies Tsek Hot Springs, an isolated campground boasting 12 charming tubs and approximately 30 riverside sites. Also known as Skookumchuck Hot Springs, this location holds significant cultural value to the In-SHUCK-ch and Statimc peoples of BC due to the mineral-rich waters which have been used for centuries for their healing and purifying properties.
The campsite doesn’t seem to be maintained by any one, nor the hot spring pool. There are two blue plastic tubs with a few hoses pouring hot water into the tubs from the main pool. Each tub fits max 3-4 people, the water goes into the tubs including some dirt but it is nice that they have drainage and you can fill up with fresh water for your own use. In general it is a very nice place but nothing fancy.
Reza R — Google review
This place is not closed, it is very wonderful and the bathrooms with hot water are clean. I recommend it for a good time
OLEKSANDR K — Google review
Skoookumchuck hot springs perfect for a rainy day drive and then a nice soak in natures own hot tubs. Tubs can be drained and refilled so you’re not sitting in someone else water from before which is nice :) If you drive a little further up the logging road Sloquet hot springs isn’t far, didn’t make it up there today but definitely next time
Amber D — Google review
Wife and I stopped on our way to Sloquet natural hot springs so we could compare the two. The waters felt nice, and this one would probably have been a better choice for my wife since you are in tubs the water is pumped into rather than in sandy silty soil, but I liked the natural pools better personally. The natural pool is there, but the water is too hot (and algae filled), so it is mixed with cold spring water and pumped into tubs to soak in. There are too many signs asking you to respect the site and it's spiritual connections for the First Nation peoples, to the point it takes away from the peaceful settings somewhat.

Beautiful, lovely place, the hot springs are really nice and all have hot water springs around them, as well as cold water taps (if you want) so you dont get too hot! Camping was wonderful as well, as there is a beach access to the river as well as plenty of tubs nicely spaced so you get semi privacy per tub. Camp ground 1 and 2 and very! Hard to spot but if you can find them I recommend them. (11 is pretty nice too) the caretaker was also pretty hard to find. Lol but incredibly friendly and kind. They do take Visa/card for camp prices but for everything else you will need cash. Would reccomend you bring in firewood. Hard to find the caretaker to buy some, and they ask you not to burn too much brush. For the heath of the Forrest. (Understabdable) and last but not least. Make sure you've serviced your breaks and shocks before you go! It's a long trip down a service forrest road for a worth while dip! Probably would have been a smoother ride driving down a dried up river bed. Oh and also you might get blessed by friendly dogs. Sometimes they come to vist the campsite apparently.

As of April 7th, 2024, the hot spring ♨️ is still closed. We were told someone without the right sold the place, the place was thrashed out and now the use of it is restricted to the local residents with no plans to make it public again in the near future 😕

When I looked at pictures online, I wasnt very interested in coming here cuz those man made pools don’t look very natural and attractive But once I got there and stepped in the pool it’s so comfy and feels so much better than the hot springs on the sands and rocks, you really gotta check this out if you like hot springs! It’s different but it’s very nice!!!
Olivia W — Google review
A very good place to have fun and try different tubs for a few hours. Tubs are not the cleanest (a thin layer of algae) but the environment was free of any can or food garbage, thanks to the understanding visitors. Just as a guess, the hot water was 50-60 degrees Celsius! Clothing is optional! $7.5 for day use and $10 for camping (August 2019)
