Park
Forest landscape, marked by a 129-ft. waterfall, for camping, picnicking & hiking.
Beautiful park. It is paved all the way to the bottom of the falls, but if you do the loop it is dirt, and a little rocky. It is a steep incline coming back up, make sure you take a bottled water with you. There are bathrooms and drinking fountains at the beginning of the trail. There is also a general store where the serve sandwiches, snakes drinks and souvenirs. You can rent cabins and camp in the park as well at designated areas. Lake Britton is at the very end of the park, and has day use areas bathrooms and a boat launch. There is a $10 fee for parking. It gets extremely busy so go early or later in the afternoon around 2-3. If they say there is no parking except by the lake go through and circle the closer parking lots there is always people leaving so you don’t have to walk the 1.5 from the lake to the trail head. Wear good shoes, I did wear flip flops and did the whole loop okay but I would recommend tennis shoes. There are plenty of benches alone the loop to rest. Also there are no dogs allowed on the trail, but they are welcome at the lake.

What a beautiful walk to see an amazing waterfall, all downhill and up around. Unfortunately as you walk closer to the ice cold water at the bottom you are greeted by the trail of trash, debris, brown foam (build up from people just being gross) clothing that has been left behind on and inbetween the rocks. It's sad to see such a beautiful piece of nature being treated so poorly - don't complain and stomp your feet when it gets shut down.

Burney Falls is absolutely breathtaking — truly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. The waterfall is stunning, with water cascading down into a crystal-clear pool surrounded by lush greenery. The sound of the falls creates such a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere, and the cool mist makes it an amazing spot to relax on a warm day. The trails are well-kept, offering gorgeous views from different angles, and the whole park is very clean and inviting. Whether you’re hiking, taking photos, or just enjoying nature, Burney Falls is a must-see destination in California. I can’t wait to come back! The only thing is the facilities could use some upkeeps no soap no hand dryer or a way to dry your hands and most of the bathrooms were closed
Nick S — Google review
Definitely one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I look forward to camping here. The hike down the trail to the water fall is not that bad and coming up was either. I definitely recommend this to everyone. Everyone should visit this place atleast once in life. It is truly a beautiful place.
Omar ( — Google review
If you live in California or anywhere near, you must see Burney Falls. I meditate, and usually port myself to a cove near Santa Cruz, but I think I found my go to serenity place to calm my mind. The multi sensory experience at Burney Falls is amazing. Take the 1.2 mile loop trail to get a full view of the falls from so many perspectives. When you are at the pool you can not only see the beauty, but feel the cool mist and feel the power of the water. Take the time to really take in the beauty....life is a true gift! Places like this, can save your life!!
Jeff ( — Google review
Gorgeous.... I've lived here (Sonoma, CA) my entire life, all 45 years so far and I only just found out about Burney Falls like 1-2 years ago. I really wanted to go, having seen so many beautiful waterfalls in New Zealand, And when I went to make reservations at the time they told me that it was closing. I forget why due to traffic or something too many people and being a hazard parked on the road. I thought it was closing indefinitely only to find out about 6 months ago that it reopened and I snagged a spot for my family for my son's 8th grade graduation celebration and all three of us absolutely were in awe. My son especially liked going down and feeling when the air drops in temperature all of a sudden. I wish their cabins had electricity or at least water or a bathroom of their own like they do at say La pine State Park in Oregon, where we go often (and those are actually cheaper there). But other than that small thing, we did just absolutely have a great time. I see why people come from all over the world to see it. Just to give some notes to disabled people, older generations, exercise-handicapped, I have heart failure which makes it hard for me to walk even on flat ground too far. And the trek to the bottom....even though it is only I think like half a mile, it is down stairs and inclines and then of course you have to go back up afterwards, and it was in the high 80s while we were there, so I did not go all the way down to the bottom but I still was able to see it and experience it and take some hopefully good pictures. That's why there's trees in front of some of my pictures.

Beautiful state park with spectacular waterfall and forest. Great campground - sites are nicely spread out and there are plenty of facilities. Happy to have come here for an overnight!

The\n Views here are absolutely stunning! There is a mile and a 1/2 walk all the way around the falls that you won't want to miss.

Cinder Cone

Mountain peak

Hiking Trails
Cinder Cone is an extinct volcanic peak located near Butte Lake in Lassen Volcanic National Park. The challenging 4-mile hike to the crater rim offers stunning views of Mt. Lassen and the surrounding Painted Dunes. The trail takes about 3 hours to complete and leads through incredible lava beds before ascending the solidified lava mass of the volcano. The unique landscape resembles a moon-like environment, with slopes of uniform 35 degrees covered in small lava pebbles.
The hike was fantastic but definitely challenging due to the steep trail. However, the effort is absolutely worth it for the spectacular views from the top. I highly recommend this hike for anyone who loves hiking and is ready for a rewarding challenge!
Junhua C — Google review
Wow, this was quite different than. Any hike I've ever experienced. Seeing the cone after a bit of a sloped sandy path was indeed intimidating. There is no shade from trees after leaving the path to climb to the top. It was a very rough climb up with all the slippage. I didnt think I could make it, I took a lot of breaks and talked to some people on the way up. Our 14 year old had no issues, and soon was out of sight. The views of the Fantastic lava beds soon replaced by the view of Lassen. So beautiful. Then soon I was told I was almost there by some people coming down and smiling. I think people understand that this is a challenge to some. Just great to get to the top and really see the lava beds, the inside of the volcano, and to see snow peaked Lassen. Maybe it was like childbirth as I soon forgot how I considered giving up after a week of adventures. My husband said that once on top he forgot how hard it was to get up there. It was dusty and we had a lot of sand. The descent was super pleasant on the knees from that sand and rubble that made it so hard to climb.
Jennifer G — Google review
A very interesting hike and climb. It's hot and exposed with a long washboard road to get there. Take lots of extra water with you.
Weston W — Google review
Short but yet intensive hike, make sure to grab plenty of water and wear closed shoes to protect your feet from sharp gravel. Also, it's worth mentioning that the road between Highway 44 and the trailhead is pretty rough. The view of the cone, the caldera, and the fantastic lava beds is gorgeous!
Ihor S — Google review
First of all, if you want to hike here, you'll have to be prepared to drive on half-paved rough gravel road for about 20 minutes. It's the only road leading to the Cinder Cone trailhead. I drove an SUV, which had enough ground clearance. But I would not recommend driving any car with low ground clearance here. It could potentially scratch the bottom of the car. It took around 20~25 minutes to get to the base of the cone from the trailhead. The ground is mostly ashes, so there's a lot of dust when walking on the trail. Hiking to the top of the cinder cone from the base was quite challenging since the slopes were just gravels and loose dirt. Again, lots of dust and my face and clothes were covered with dust very early on. In my opinion, this is a stenuous hiking. Most people took awhile to climb up the steep pathway because it's quite steep. The strong wind did not help. Many people used trekking poles since it would help with gaining more balance. This was something I wish I brought before hiking to Cinder Cone. Also, I would highly recommend mid-ankle hiking shoes since it's very easy to slip off while hiking up or down and you want to prevent sprained ankles. Once I hiked to the top, I got great views of the nearby mountains. It was well worth my time and effort. Highly recommend this place.
Ki P — Google review
The cone is really steep and everyone should be careful. You can see snowy mountain by far and the view is awesome.
吴锐恒(Ruiheng W — Google review
Very steep hike. It's like hiking on sand. The views are amazing though. If you can make it i recommend
Tina H — Google review
Cinder Cone is one of the most unique hikes in Lassen Volcanic! The trail across the painted dunes and lava beds feels otherworldly, and the steep climb up the cone is challenging but rewarding. Standing on the rim, you get an incredible 360° view of Lassen Peak, the colorful Painted Dunes, and the Fantastic Lava Beds—it’s truly spectacular. Hiking down into the crater is also an unforgettable experience. A bit strenuous, but absolutely worth it for the scenery and the sense of adventure.

This is a nice place to get away and relax. Nice pool area and hot tub. The staff is always friendly and more than willing to help and answer any questions. The environment is relaxing with the nice setting in the lobby. The rooms are nice and clean and spacious. Love the showers, wish the bathtubs were a little bigger.

Went to Feather Falls Casino for the first time last Saturday night. What a Fabulous surprise. So we parked and was met at the front door by super friendly staff, who held open the door for us, and as they did I was expecting 1 quite room with a few handfuls of machines. As I stepped inside I realized oh the parking lot was packed. It was hoping, there was a live band playing, the sound of machines paying out, and the size is secretly hidden from the outside view. We got our players card with no waiting in line. We had a great time, there are so many machines. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the bathrooms were clean. A little hidden gem.
Rebecca W — Google review
Had an absolutely stellar experience. The room was amazing, the food at the brewery was wonderful and the staff was more than friendly. I wasn't able to try any of the award winning beers sadly but I'll definitely be coming back.
Colin G — Google review
We were attending a wedding on the feather river and had minimal time to ge t ready after the scheduled check in. The Lodge was able to get us an early check-in! This gave us 3 extra hours to get 3 ladies ready and off to the venue. The room smelled nice and was clean. The staff was professional and very nice. Overall we enjoyed the stay.

Just stopped in. On my way home. Didn't get rich but made a couple bucks there. Nice layout and plenty of games to play. Not real busy when we dropped in. Plan on stopping by again someday soon.

Super helpful staff. They could use more towels at the pool but I didn’t ask. If I had I have no doubt they would have brought more. We ended up staying an extra nite and canceling our rooms at our next destination. My Traveling Ape, Akut liked the bed too.
Chalene P — Google review
I haven't stayed in the hotel but I have spent plenty of time in the casino. The thing that impressed me was the slot techs and table dealers were very friendly. They went out of there way to let you have fun. I know the attitude of employees really determines my choice where I spend my time and money.
James B — Google review
The sashimi at the casino main restaurant is very fresh and just as good as i've had at high end suahi bars for a fraction of the price. The portions are very large on the 3 boat sizes they offer. The other food they serve is also very good.. I've never had a bad meal here. Always great!

I took my bird loving fiancé here as a surprise and we both loved it! The staff was incredibly nice and knowledgeable and the property was beautiful. We took the owl class and got to hold 4 different owls on the day we went. It was so incredibly fun! I can’t recommend this place enough and we can’t wait to come back!

I came with my 11 yr old son and his best friend, who are both fascinated with birds of prey. It was an experience of a lifetime! They were in heaven! The staff was so knowledgeable and friendly, and the experience of being up close and personal was exceptional. We loved spending time with the birds and learned so much about the from the staff. After our experience was over, the boys just didn’t want to leave. We stayed for at least another hour, observing all the birds in the enclosures, asking tons of questions, and having a great time. I can’t recommend West Coast Falconry highly enough! I’m sure we will be back again in the future for another visit.

We did the Triple Raptor experience, and it was amazing! The birds are so cool, and we really enjoyed learning about the raptors from Kate and Sierra. Very highly recommended!

amazing experience! they provided a thorough, educational and safe way to interact with many different kinds of birds. All the guides were knowledgeable and passionate about this craft and shared lots of interesting tidbits about birds and birding history. Shout-out to Sierra, Heather and Tony!

This is an incredible experience. There's only about 25 locations in the US that have a license for public participation with birds of prey, so it's a treat to have this in our. They use red-tailed Hawks, the Hawks are funny. They have a personality, one hawk laughed at us because she didn't want to work that day.
Wesley C — Google review
Loved spending time with the hawks and meeting the falcons. The hosts are truly excellent. They made us feel welcome and comfortable in a completely new and intense experience. The birds are well taken care of, I appreciate seeing the level of stewardship that West Coast Falconry is maintaining. Looking forward to some owl time in the fall.
Jessie T — Google review
An amazing, one-of-a-kind experience. Even with the 2+ hour drive to get there from SF, and the considerable price tag, it was well worth it. They offer all kinds of experiences with the various types of raptors, and we opted for a private hawk walk (it's possible to choose 2 out of: hawks, falcons, and owls, and I reckon some would enjoy the variety, but we really wanted to focus on getting to know one bird and the hawk sounded like the most interactive one). After an extensive and informative introduction about the history of falconry, the types of birds they have, their habits and characteristics, we (my fiancee, the 2 falconers, and myself) went out to the wooded area behind the farm with a hawk named Mariposa. We learned the proper way to call her to our glove, and throughout the experience could more or less go where we wanted, call her, walk around with her for a bit, and then have her take off to perch as she pleased. There were also a few specific "tricks" we got to do with her and all kinds of photo ops, but to me the best part was probably just casually strolling around with a bird of prey on my arm. It's something my fiance had dreamt of doing since she was a kid, and she came out feeling her expectations had been more than met. We'd seen falconers at Renaissance Faires and such, but getting to actually interact with them is something different altogether. Something more people should definitely get to experience.
Tom T — Google review
I recently participated in West Coast Falconry's Owl Encounter Experience. They are located just to the east of Marysville, CA. I actually learned about West Coast Falconry this past spring during our regional PBS Silent Auction in Northern California. West Coast Falconry participated in that event by providing an Owl Encounter. The Owl Encounter lasts for 90 minutes and is a wonderful experience. You are one of approximately 6-8 people who get to learn about owls and actually meet them. The handlers are extremely knowledgeable and provide important, but easy training for you to have selected owls fly to your gloved arm or sit on your gloved arm for a photo. During my session we were introduced to two Barn Owls, a Great Horned Owl, an Eastern Screech Owl, and a Western Screech Owl. It should not be surprising that these owls all have distinct personalities. It was delightful to see them, learn about them, and experience them all. My session, the first of the day, began at 9 am and I arrived about 15 minutes early so the gate into the property had not yet opened. My wait was under 10 minutes and the session began on time. It is clear that the staff know and deeply care for all of the owls. They answered every question that folks in my group asked during our session. All who participated had opportunities to get photos of the owls. This was a memorable experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.

This is an absolutely fantastic place to have a venue where you can get together with people and friends and have some entertainment. In this case it was a friend's birthday and an entertainer (DJ) Carlos Kandia that he follows It was at the winery and so he invited friends to celebrate his birthday. It was an awesome time everyone there including the non-birthday guest had a great time mingling with the people who were there for the birthday.

My husband and I had a wonderful wine tasting at Naggiar Vineyards. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the wines were delicious! We were fortunate enough to work a 200+ person event there recently and it was an incredibly enjoyable and memorable experience. Working with Mary was a true pleasure as well—she was honest, fair, and punctual throughout the entire process. The staff was friendly and kind, the customers were fun and respectful, and Mary provided everything we needed which made the event seamless. We can’t wait to work with her again!

A group of us went to their summer concert series for my birthday when an ABBA tribute band was playing and it was a perfect night. We danced and sang the whole night. And the wine was AMAZING. Could not recommend this place enough!!

Friendly folks in the tasting room. They have the best Viognier in the Sacramento region. If you prefer reds, you should try their Barbera. They have a great shaded patio to sit and sit your wine, while looking out over a serene pond. In the summer, they usually have free live music on the patio on Friday and Saturday nights. They also have about 6 paid concerts with top level cover bands each year. Not sure about entertaining this year with Covid, but they are doing a great job of keeping everyone safe.
Linda N — Google review
Always wanted to visit this winery - loved their red wine blends, and the location out in the foothills was intriguing. The winery is in a beautiful valley, somewhat remote - nice drive along 2 lane roads, followed by a mile or so along a rough dirt road. You even get to see Bison along the way. Really. The winery met expectation - reasonably priced tastings, and as with most wineries, you get to taste a lot more than what they advertise. Their outdoor covered is beautiful with lots of tables, overlooking a pond. Great views. That’s where we had problem number one - I guess they advertise the winery as family friendly, which sounds OK unless you have to deal with two mothers who brought four young kids along with all their toys. The kids ran wild, totally out of control and ignored by the parents. When the daughter pulled out a tambourine, that was the end for us - we politely asked the mother to have her stop, and were met with the “It’s a family friendly winery”. BS. It’s not a family room. You expect parents to have some control over their kids. And the winery does nothing about it, since a lot of their customers are locals. This pretty much ruined our experience. Problem number two - every winery I’ve visited, and that’s a lot of wineries, drops the tasting charge if you buy a few bottles which we did. Not this place. Overall, the winery is beautiful, great staff, and the wines are very good. It’s a great place to spend a summer afternoon on the patio, with a glass of fine wine and some snacks (you can bring your own food). I recommend taking the drive out there and hopefully you will not have to deal with uncontrolled kids.

I recently visited a pumpkin farm and had such a wonderful time. The farm had huge pumpkins and an amazing variety of different kinds. There were also many little shops to explore, each with fun things to see. I really enjoyed walking through the pumpkin field and the sunflower field, which looked beautiful. One of the highlights was the train ride—it was so much fun to ride around the farm. There were also lots of different attractions that made the visit exciting. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Such a beautiful and heartwarming place! The pumpkin farm and sunflower field are absolutely magical — full of colors, joy, and peace. It’s a perfect spot for families, kids, and anyone who wants to feel closer to nature. Walking among the golden sunflowers and bright orange pumpkins feels like stepping into a fairytale. The staff are kind and welcoming, and every moment here fills your heart with warmth and gratitude. 🍂☀️

Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm is hands down one of the best family fall destinations in Northern California! There’s truly something for everyone — from the giant pumpkin patch and sunflower fields to the petting zoo, hayrides, and train rides. The kids absolutely loved the corn maze and slides, and the adults enjoyed the fresh apple cider, kettle corn, and delicious pumpkin pie. The place is clean, well organized, and full of friendly staff who make everything run smoothly even on busy weekends. Parking is easy to navigate, and the layout makes it simple to explore without feeling crowded. Highly recommend coming early in the day, bringing a wagon, and staying for the evening lights — it feels like a little fall festival in every corner. 🍂 Can’t wait to come back next year!

omg amazing. went here with my partner and the corn maze was fun, the garlic fries were fire, the place was so nicely decorated, the apple cider slush w/ ice cream is to die for, but the crinkle cookies were just bad unfortunately :( that's the only negative thing. IF YOU GO YOU HAVEEEE TO SEE THE ALASKAN RACING PIGS OMG THAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY ALREADY AWESOME DAY

Love this place! You gotta try ALL the yummy desserts! They are so so good! If you're ok with crowds the weekend has so much great entertainment and shows, but know there are long lines for everything and parking is $20. If you go Monday-thursday it's free to park and there are no lines but there's also no entertainment or shows. Regardless, this is a must for the fall!

Recently went there on sunday. It was crazy busy. I didn’t expect to see that many people. Waiting line for every rides , attraction is insane. Not to forget food court /resturant line are very long. If you are planning to go there make sure you take tons pf water , coz water there is very expensive. I bought 2 bottle normal water for $8.47. They have many things to do especially for kids. All age kids can enjoy. Now , talking about money. There are few things to do which don’t require tickets. Otherwise tickets are needed for rides and attractions. Its fun to watch piggy race. Kids will enjoy them. REMEMBER, don’t buy too many tickets at once , because if you won’t be able to do all rides / attractions you will have tickets left and it is unrefundable , otherwise you can use it on your next visit if you are planning to do so. I have almost 25 tickets left . Now i have to go back again. I don’t mind going back again but its very costly. If you want to save money bring your own foods.you can bring anything.

We had a great time with the kids. The entertainer was amazing. The apple dumpling smothered in soft serve ice cream was over the top . Thank you bishops ranch. Great place for fun.

Old Town Pizza is a popular spot in Auburn's Old Town, offering a diverse menu that includes sandwiches, salads, and of course, pizza. The pub-like atmosphere provides a cozy setting to enjoy handcrafted coffee at The Pour Choice, the local favorite coffee shop located in the heart of Old Town. Visitors can expect efficient service even during busy times and generous portions of food at reasonable prices.
My lady and I were visiting town for our 13th anniversary and decided to stop by Old Town Pizza for lunch—and we couldn’t have made a better choice! As soon as we walked in, we were impressed by the warm, inviting atmosphere. The open layout created a relaxed yet lively ambiance, and the staff greeted us with genuine friendliness. Our server was fantastic, offering thoughtful recommendations that we absolutely loved. Every bite was delicious, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. Without a doubt, Old Town Pizza deserves a full five stars across the board. 10/10—highly recommend! We’ll definitely be back!

This is our "go to" pizza place when in Auburn. I prefer to make reservations online when I plan ahead because it's just nice to walk in and be seated. Parking can be sparse but slowly drive around the building and I've always been able to get close to the restaurant. Now, the ambience is large and comfy at the same time. Keep in mind, for non rainy days, sitting upstairs in one of there many cozy resting / celebration areas. The views are really fun. The choices of food are plenty and delicious. They also have many adult drinks and a full service bar separate but open to the restaurant. I especially like that they decorate for seasonal celebrations keeping it a unique experience from time. We had a family of 7 enjoy two large pizzas, drinks, and a salad for about 110.00. It's not cheap but also isn't too expensive considering the excellent service, food, and atmosphere.

Delicious pizza! I ordered a small Caboose pizza. It was loaded with toppings: pepperoni, sausage, linguica, salami, mushrooms, yellow onion and black olives. It was cooked well done as requested. Brad was my server and he did a great job!

I just wanted to say I love the pizza here and the GF options are awesome. Came here last night and had the best service I have experienced in quite a while. Evelyn D. Was our server and she went above and beyond. She is very attentive to each of her tables and it was busy birthday parties and full tables everywhere. Took the time to let Shane the manager know how well she did. He is relatively new to the area, super nice as well. Thank you Evelyn!

Thunder Valley Casino Resort is a modern hotel and casino offering various dining options, a pool, spa, and conference facilities. The resort has been recognized for hosting live performances by acclaimed artists like Steele. Visitors have praised the diverse selection of games available at the casino and appreciated the cleanliness and maintenance of the premises. Guests who use rewards cards can benefit from perks such as complimentary nights and free gifts.
I was in Rocklin on a date and decided to stop by Thunder Valley Casino Resort since it’s only about 10 minutes away — and wow, what a night. Walked in with a few hundred, played some slots and blackjack, and ended the night up $1,300 plus a beautiful room at an amazing rate. The staff were amazing — friendly, upbeat, and genuinely made the experience feel special. The drinks were perfect too — their bartenders know how to mix a drink just right, and the service all night was top-tier. Our room was spotless and came stocked with thoughtful extras — shave kits, soaps, bubble bath sets, slippers — little things that make a huge difference. It felt more like a luxury resort stay than just a quick casino stop. And I’ve got to mention the gift shop — picked up an awesome Thunder Valley jacket that I haven’t been able to take off all week. I’ve been telling everyone the story of that night — from the big win to the great people — because it really was that memorable. Between the welcoming staff, great drinks, and lucky tables, Thunder Valley absolutely delivered. This was my first time really playing here, but definitely not my last. Can’t wait to come back for round two soon!

Regular here; rooms are always clean and staff is very helpful from hotel. Room service is hit and miss. Rooms most have been remodeled. Suites have jetted tubs and have a very large bathroom. All rooms have amazing soaking tubes and separate showers. Love bathroom set up. Pool is great especially when no kids around. Drinks are great Poole

I had a great time at Thunder Valley. The casino is clean and well-maintained, and both the restaurants and restrooms were nicely kept. One thing I’ve never loved about casinos is having to walk through smoking areas to reach the non-smoking section. I understand that smoking is part of the casino atmosphere, but not all gamblers are smokers. But there is a non smoking section so that's cool. The concert venue was surprisingly decent, and the spa was excellent—very relaxing and beautifully designed. Staff throughout the hotel were consistently welcoming and friendly, and there’s plenty of parking available, which made things easy. Cons: The rewards program was disappointing. If you're staying at the hotel and spending money on-site, you should earn points for all purchases. Also, if you forget your rewards card in your room, it would be helpful to show your receipt and still get credit. There was some miscommunication around that and the advertised 5% discount, which made the experience less smooth than expected.

The Folsom Prison Museum is a small museum and gift shop located in an old home, filled with prison artifacts and Johnny Cash memorabilia. It offers insight into the notorious Folsom State Prison, established in 1880, showcasing its history and famous inmates like Johnny Cash. Visitors can explore a collection of artifacts, photographs, and memorabilia chronicling the prison's past, including handmade weapons, inmate artwork, guard uniforms, and more.
Unique museum showing the grim history of corrections in the last century. Sits right in front of prison gate, next to processing center for visitors of inmates. Makes you glad you are free to go!

Super Cool to see in person, unfortunately the museum was closed, they relys on volunteers to run it, but the guards were so polite and full of knowledge and history. We had a great time.

We are so happy we went here. It's a little off the beaten path and we were skeptical in taking the time to go, but well worth it. The guy running the gift shop was extremely nice and even though it's small the museum is worth doing. You even park right outside the gate so it's a little weird being that close to guards and people going inside for visits. Lots of Johnny cash memorabilia too.

It’s closed now but you still can go to the entrance and take pictures. The guard staff was awesome at information and knowledge.

Dont drink that dirty water. Fascinating historic stop. It's sobering why it was built and still is in use. I love the museum sharing actuall history of the prison and the work and engineering the prisoners put into the construction and maintenance of the facilities. Guards were very accomadating.

Great museum with lots of info packed into a small space. The best part was listening to the stories of the docent onsite with so many years of experience inside the prison. Definitely worth a couple hours of exploring!

To be honest, the overall impression about this spot is so-so cause the admission is $2 also they don’t accept cards payments for minimum transactions under $5, which sounds like everyone must buy something if they don’t have cash. This is not cool to the customers.

The California State Railroad Museum, located in Old Sacramento, is a vibrant and educational destination for history enthusiasts. The museum offers an extensive collection of vintage locomotives and engaging exhibits that delve into the impact of railroads on the development of western states. With over 20,000 square feet of interactive displays, visitors can explore the history of steam engines, the role of railroads in agriculture, and even view a remarkable assortment of 1,000 vintage toy trains.
A Memorable Visit to the California State Railroad Museum Visiting the California State Railroad Museum was truly an unforgettable experience. As soon as I stepped inside, I was impressed by the size of the locomotives and the detail in every exhibit. I could feel the rich history of the railroad era coming to life right in front of me. What I enjoyed most was seeing the beautifully restored trains up close — especially the luxury passenger cars and old steam engines. Walking through them made me imagine what it must have been like to travel across the country by rail many years ago. I also gained a lot of new insights into how the railroad shaped California’s growth and connected communities. The museum does a great job of combining technology, history, and storytelling. There were even interactive exhibits that made learning fun and engaging. Overall, I truly enjoyed my time at the museum and left with a deeper appreciation for the role of railroads in American history. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in history, transportation, or simply looking for a meaningful experience.
Mixmix F — Google review
We visited the railway museum right when it opened and were warmly greeted by the staff as they opened the doors. The ticket prices are quite affordable, and the museum itself is clean and well-maintained. The staff and volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable — they took time to explain the history and details of the trains on display. The museum features a wide variety of train exhibits, and there’s even a dedicated floor for kids to play with model trains and watch them move around, which was a fun highlight. Parking is available either at metered street spots or in a nearby garage, which costs around $20 per day. Overall, it was an enjoyable and educational experience for both adults and kids.

When seeing a museum of mechanical engineering i absolutely believe the people that restored and continue to maintain these locomotives and cars are beyond expertise. The staff is absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable. Perfectly located in old sacramento for a whole day of fun.

Had a fantastic time at the California State Railroad Museum! As two adults, we weren’t sure what to expect, but we ended up having so much fun. The scavenger hunt was a great touch, and the exhibits are very interactive with full-size trains you can explore. The museum is well-maintained, with a lot to see and learn. Staff members are friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. A must-visit if you’re into museums or looking for a unique, engaging experience in Sacramento.

Probably one of the top five railroad museums I’ve been to in the country. Very well done, plane to read, and space for the little ones to run around too. Don’t miss the model trains and the kid play area on the second floor!

Went here on a Friday around 4pm not to crowed. Lots of history, great info, but you really need at least 2 hours not 1 hour we were speed walking, but still saw and read at least 85%. No senior or disabilities discount. May just have to go back.
Tyler G — Google review
Top notch experience for 1-90 years old. Real historic train carriages and locomotives on display with knowledgeable staff that will engage in interesting conversation. And that $12 per person fee is a steal which is less than half the price of nearly every museum nowadays! Second floor section is dedicated to model trains which brings smile to children. Highly recommended
Frederick — Google review
Be prepared to have your mind blown! This place was a must to see with or without kids. First the cost of it was inexpensive to other museums. Child 6-17 was $6, 17+ was $12 free under 5. Interactive museums are truly the best way to learn and this was a well thought out museum. We also enjoyed that they had many old timers who knew all about the history and trains walking around as volunteers who clearly loved and enjoyed talking to kids and adults alike. The history museum is next door and was such a let down in comparison so maybe skip that one or see it first, before you go into the train museum.

Nestled in the heart of Sacramento, the Crocker Art Museum stands as a testament to artistic heritage, being the oldest public art museum west of the Mississippi River. With nearly 140 years of history, it showcases an impressive array of international artworks alongside its renowned collections of Californian art and ceramics. Visitors can immerse themselves in diverse exhibitions that span European, Asian, and African paintings.
This is one of the best art museums I’ve ever visited. I was impressed by the breadth of time periods and media, as well as the focus on California art and artists who spent most of their lives here. I wish I had time to see everything! You could easily spend all day here. Of special note is the unique descriptions for almost ever single piece on display in the permanent collection that gave immense detail on the artist, subject, and “what to focus on” that helps give special context on the piece.
Molly — Google review
Phenomenal museum with works by world-class artists that are household names and also a treasure trove of pieces by regional and emerging creators. The price of admission is well worth its value and I spent a solid two hours here. I would have stayed longer save for my parking meter running out! I loved the modern art on view. The only downsides were that the layout is a little confusing with how the new and old buildings connect, and that the cafe closes a little early. Other than that, I definitely plan to visit Crocker Art Museum again!
E D — Google review
During a heatwave that extended into the weekend, I was trying to think of a family activity/outing that would keep us cool. My 13 year old (who has a fondness for art & history) suggested that we visit the Crocker Art Museum. My wife and I hadn’t been in years (I believe the last time I visited was when I was in grade school), so we loved this idea and were excited! Unfortunately, this was a last minute decision, so we would only have 1.5 hours to enjoy before they closed. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly employee at the desk who issued our tickets. We started at the French art exhibits, which if I’m being honest, I found to be boring and a bit depressing. However, this feeling quickly dissipated when we entered the modern art sections. One of my favorite pieces of artwork was “Empanadas Dulces/Sweet Turnovers;” something about seeing a multigenerational family coming together to accomplish one goal is beautiful to me. Overall, we enjoyed the Crocker Art Museum and are planning a return visit for the near future (this time around we’ll plan for a longer visit)!

The Crocker Art Museum is way bigger than we expected—there’s seriously so much to see. We didn’t even have enough time to finish the third floor! Every room is filled with beautiful artwork, from classic pieces to more modern installations. It’s the kind of place you could get lost in for hours. Definitely planning to come back soon to see the rest. Perfect spot for a date too—relaxing, inspiring, and easy to enjoy together.

The California State Capitol Museum is a historic institution that offers an elegant and comprehensive look into the history of California through its exhibits and artifacts. The museum is part of the Free Museum Day, where visitors can explore various local museums for free. As you approach the museum, the grandeur of the California State Capitol building comes into view, with its impressive architecture and ornate interior.
This was my first time here. I didn’t get to go inside, but still an amazing view from the outside. Beautiful park surrounding it. Lots of places to sit, relax or set up a picnic area and eat. It’s bustling with people. There’s food trucks around the block. The building is absolutely amazing. They don’t make buildings like these anymore. The architecture, the design, so much thought put into building these older buildings next time. Hopefully I’ll be able to go inside.

Free entrance.open only weekdays. There is a gift shop but it's kind of hidden. No restaurant. MANY bathrooms on every floor. About 1/2 the rooms aren't accessible but they have the others set up as they were for their their period theme. If you like this kind of stuff definitely worth visiting. Top floor has portrates of the previous governors of the state.

A must-visit when you’re in Sacramento! The California State Capitol Museum is beautifully preserved and full of history. The architecture is stunning, from the marble hallways to the grand dome, every corner tells a story. The exhibits are well curated, offering a fascinating look into California’s political and cultural past.

This is a really interesting space and could be worth a stop if you’re in town — it’s free to enter (brief security checkpoint accessible on 2 sides), and takes just a few minutes to cruise the palatial halls and get some breathtaking neoclassical architecture! The millwork is spectacular, with carved bears on the bannisters and rich filigree on nearly every surface. If you appreciate nothing else, the craftsmanship is next level. It’s almost perpetually under construction, so be aware that not all areas are always accessible and the space is actively being used for government functions — so be respectful around the more private sections while cruising around inside. The ground floor plays host to a few historical rooms preserved for your viewing pleasure, and a small exhibit or two depending on construction. The elevators are full of gorgeous art-deco metalwork and operate relatively quickly. You can also climb the elegant stairs on one side of the main rotunda. There’s a cute gift shop and restaurant in the basement as well. This is quite a structure. If you like epic structures you’ll probably enjoy a quick stop in as I mentioned before. Grounds outside are good for photo ops too.

Interesting free self guided walk through of historic portions of the Capitol building. Current exhibits focus on historical photography in and of California. Some impressive architecture and craftsmanship to be enjoyed.

The building was amazing. The tour guild was amazing. The tour was so-so. Didn't get to see much. There is a long wall where some of the governors have their stupid, expensive painting hung up on the wall. There are 5 or 6, I believe. Not a one is hung at the same height as another. A very telling display indeed.
Tevye M — Google review
One of the most beautiful capitals I've visited! There is a lot of construction going on currently but you can find paid street parking. They give tours. There's a robotic coffee shop nearby that's really neat too!
T H — Google review
Being at the capitol felt meaningful as someone from Maine to visit the Capitol of another state. They have scheduled tours during the week, usually every hour from ten in the morning until four in the afternoon. You can sign up at the information desk right inside the rotunda. Downstairs there is a small museum with exhibits and a short film about the building's history. They also have a few restored offices that show how things looked in the past. It was good. I learned a lot. Outside is a large park area, about forty acres, with guided walks available on certain days. There are trees from all over the world, war memorials, and plaques that give a sense of the state's past. It felt quiet and informative, not flashy, but steady and respectful. More than anything, it made the idea of state government feel a little more real.

Red Hawk Casino, a 24-hour gambling establishment, offers an extensive array of slot and table games. In addition to the gaming options, Red Hawk also provides childcare services, retail shops and five restaurants. While the pandemic has forced the permanent closure of their buffet, guests can still enjoy dining at their new food court. The casino's Asian restaurant Pearl serves delectable dishes such as Sweet and Sour Pork, Pork Fried Rice and Kung Pao Chicken in large portions.
We visit RedHawk a few times a month. The staff is all really nice and professional. There is one that has always gone above and beyond for me. Michelle Teh has been so helpful. The rooms are clean and comfy. Love they have a centralized microwave! I’ve never had a bad stay.

I had such a great time at Red Hawk Casino! The atmosphere is lively, clean, and full of energy. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the casino floor had a great variety of slots and tables. The new hotel and restaurants make it a perfect weekend getaway. Loved the view and the food options—definitely coming back soon! The Apex is kid friendly, our children had so much fun bowling.

I have mixed feelings about Red Hawk. The casino staff is awesome. Game selection is decent. My only negative experience is management with the coffee shop and the food in Apex. More than once I have been getting food and there is a line of customers and only one person ringing up people's orders. Other employees seem lost while the manager is doing other things instead of directing their staff or jumping in to provide great customer service. At apex I stood and watched my order sit there for almost 15 min. I asked the manager who was more intErested to beginning the closing duties if I could get my order and her response was "yeah. In a minute." Not great service. Overall ok casino.

I absolutely love how close Red Hawk is to home but the beautiful scenic location makes it feel like a real getaway. The rooms are super clean and newish, definitely recommend booking a sunset view room, the views are stunning! One of the best parts is how kid friendly this resort is. Honestly, the kids quest alone deserves 5 stars. My husband and I love being able to drop our kids off there while we enjoy a relaxing dinner date. And when we pick them up? They never want to leave! Its such a fun, safe place for them. Also, the games at the arcade, especially the claw machines pay out well. My kids always win great prizes there. The service here has always been top notch. Every staff member we've interacted with has been friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend Red Hawk for families, and couples or anyone looking for a local escape that feels like a vacation.

This review is for the food and food quality at Red Hawk. This is below average for sure. My wife and I went for an early dinner to the Pearl Asian Restaurant (late 2025), which is supposed to be an upscale Asian restaurant. The food quality is very sub-par. The Wor Won Ton Soup had a very thin light broth like dirty water and terrible quality. The vegetables were totally old (mushrooms almost black from age), and very limp overcooked vegetables. It was the worst Wor Won Ton Soup I have ever eaten. I have been to the buffet over the years and it is the same kind of poor quality. The kitchen at this resort is just below average, very below average. Sad this place tries to be upscale, but the F&B is definitely not there. The employee base here is quite pleasant and kind. Verona Coffeehouse review since I can not find it as a restaurant in RedHawk.... Management here is lacking to say the least. I brought back my undercooked chicken wings that I took a bite of the drummy which was very pink let alone had not even got to the bone which assumed was red. Manager told me oh its cooked and its okay to eat because the way they cook it. Uh hello NEVER eat undercooked chicken unless you're willing to get very sick guess he was never trained properly and only option they could provide was oh I can have the cook remake for you and it will take at least 18min. No refund, no okay I can make something else... my stomach was already turned from having more wings. So I only had a couple wings prior to finding the undercooked drummy and nothing else for lunch.... VERY poor customer service and management. Wonder what liability Red Hawk would have faced if I ate it and did get sick and their Management had told me it was okay to eat???

I'm not a big gambler. I like to go to enjoy myself, meet nice people, have good food, and most of all Feel Safe! I get all of that at Red Hawk. Above all else feel safe. If I'm there to gamble or staying at hotel, which I often do by myself,I feel completely safe. No matter the hour,or how busy it may or may not be,I'm never concerned about my safety. Which is a major plus. I don't bet big but I manage to do ok. If you go to casino looking to come up and you don't,well that's on you for coming in with the wrong attitude.(My opinion) There's a wide variety of games . Many new ones, plenty of old stand by too. If you have mobility issues you can rent a scooter at the valet when you have them park for you or if you self park ,you can call the casino, ask for security, and inform them you need to rent a scooter. They'll ask where you're parked and can bring it to you there. Of course there are those rare times they're all rented out but rarely the case. The cost is $20 for 24hrs. In case you're staying with them at hotel for instance. They've got a gift give away and generous comp system. If you want frantic ,go to that big place. As for sky r### I will never step in that place again. i left a review there and don't care to repeat it. A year later I thought I'd give another chance but only confirmed my disgust in the place. Red Hawk you can go alone, take your momma, or have a date night and actually be able to relax and enjoy each other. That's about covers it. Have fun-Jacobina

Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort is a laid-back lodging option that offers casual rooms and suites, along with an outdoor pool, two hot tubs, and 24-hour gaming. Guests have enjoyed the beautifully decorated resort during the holidays, likening it to a Vegas experience. The staff is friendly and accommodating, while the rooms are clean and spacious. The casino provides both smoking and non-smoking areas, as well as complimentary soda and coffee for guests.
The food is excellent, the service was perfect and the Casino was a fun way to spend a couple hours gambling then off to try and decide the best Prime Rib with a baked potatoes it was so Hugh, I couldn't finish it, being approx. four inches thick, a BIG baked potato and a medley of toppings for it. Altogether we left happy and full, and enjoyed the Casino, the food and the atmosphere.

Hotel rooms are older but clean and room had a balcony. Quick walk to the casino. Pool is heated to a comfy 80 degrees and was comfortable to swim in, in late October. Casino has a nice variety of slots and table games. And couple of decent restaurants. No booze served in casino. You can drink booze in the Lone Wolf lounge.

Jackson is a beautiful casino. I love that there is plenty of room to walk around comfortably even at their busiest times. The casino floor is very spacious. For slot players like myself there is a wide variety of machines to choose from. Very well trained staff. The customer service is excellent and very refreshing compared to a few other casinos I have visited in California. My boyfriend visits Jackson Rancheria weekly. I did not give them 5 stars due to the access of the hotel to and from casino. It is quite the trek from casino to hotel especially for us seniors. The rooms are nice but not as nice as they should be. That is just my opinion. Most casinos with hotels you leave your room get in an elevator and it takes you right to casino floor. This casino you have to exit the casino and walk to the parking garage take an elevator up to 3rd floor parking garage and walk the cement uphill walkway to the hotel lobby. I myself have to stop and catch my breathe a couple of times before getting to my room. I am not sure why it is designed this way. We used to stay at the hotel once a week but it is much more convenient for us to just get into our car and drive an hour home. That is my only complaint about Jackson Rancheria.

The bingo here kind of sucked. I asked and paid for 2 of each of the extra games and did not have them. So they should have given me the 2 missing games for free but instead asked me to purchase more. Plus hardly anyone actually played paper here and If they really do use a timer between calls. There is no way they could have used a timer because the calling was erratic. Not my first choice. Stick to the slots here.

Very, very nice RV park!! However, it is very expensive as compared to comparable parks. We are full-time RVer's and stayed here only for a few days while heading south. We enjoyed our stay very much. Went to the casino one time just to check it out. Gambling is not our thing but it was very nice none the less. There is a walking trail around the perimeter of the park, a swimming pool, large golf putting green and dog park. We would stay there again.

This is the best! We always have a great time. The Lone Wolf has wonderful food and great service. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Promotions are top notch!!

I like that Jackson still has a decent number of old style machines. Good variety of games. Downside is that there is no food of any kind late at night. Not even the coffee shop.

Very nice property with an excellent steakhouse - Lone Wolf. But, that’s about it. Overall, the establishment is quite boring. No entertainment No lounge (except in the restaurant) No bar All it is is gambling and a couple of restaurants. Disappointing.

The Lodi Wine Visitor Center is a must-visit for wine enthusiasts. Located on Turner Road next to Wine & Roses, it offers a comprehensive introduction to the Lodi appellation. Visitors can learn about the region's winemaking process and the impact of night breezes from the Sacramento Delta on vine growth. With over 200 Lodi bottles available, including those from small-batch vintners without their own tasting rooms, there's no shortage of options to explore.
They have a large collection of Lodi grape wines. Very inexpensive tasting ($12 for 4) and it seems like the tasting menu changes weekly. Was nice to hang out there and learn a bit about the different wineries.

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! This was a beautiful discovery 😍 of fine wines. Home grown here in Lodi. Friendly atmosphere, with charming gathering places, in various corners of their courtyard. There was even a Vineyard that you could walk through to educate oneself on. Well layed out, be sure to add it to your bucket list of things to do whenever you're in this neck of California. Follow me and catch up on all my sites and places to just sto into. Check out "Beautiful Places in Hawaii"...enjoy! Ciao for now.

Thank you Brooke, we were so glad to have this fantastic experience tasting a little bit of Lodi during my work trip! This is such a brilliant concept to have in town. I appreciated it so much! Lodi does not disappoint with their wines and we will be back in the area for sure, cheers!

The staff there were friendly. After the wine tasting, we bought 2 bottles of wine, that were very well packed for us. When I just arrived home and opened the package, I found the expensive wine club exclusive Heavy Hitter Petite Sirah was not sealed. I talked to the manager the next day and he explained some wineries simply send in their wines to the visitor center with the bottles not sealed. This exposes a safety concern to us, because the content of the bottle could be easily changed. It was said there were some environmental concerns with the foil sealing. If so, there should be some sort of replacement like wax sealing. Wine sold with the bottles not even sealed in any way is not acceptable.

Klinker Brick Winery is a delightful gem nestled in the picturesque agricultural landscape of Lodi, where vineyards and orchards thrive. During my visit in early April 2022, I was warmly welcomed by gracious hosts who guided us through an enjoyable wine tasting experience. We sampled three different flights featuring a variety of wines, predominantly reds with some sparkling options and rosés that offered a pleasantly dry twist on traditional selections.
We had an amazing tasting. The woman who helped us was so friendly and kind. We loved all of the wine and the relaxing atmosphere.

Two star experience and Three stars on the wine. Nobody pours each wine and explains its info. Nothing about where it’s grown, it’s vintage, alcohol content … nada on the paper that gives us the minimal info on the thimble pours that all come out on a tray at one time. Would Not Recommend. (The chocolates in the photo were brought by us). So many beautiful places that are more experiential!

We were very pleased with the selections here. Our server was very helpful in finding the wine we liked. We ended up buying 1/2 a case! She also helped us find other area wineries we might like. All-in-all, a great experience with a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and great wine!

The tasting room is so pretty here, especially decorated for Christmas. I've tasted here before on a weekend and was blown away that there were four flights to choose from. This time there were two. The wine is reasonably priced and tastings are waived with a bottle purchase (2 bottles purchased to waive the reserve tasting). This time I headed in about an hour before closing and felt rushed by the staff despite there being several other people still tasting in the room. The patio area is beautiful and I may try again in summer.

We had a wonderful visit and wine tasting at Klinker Brick Winery in early April of 2022! Their winery is in the agricultural area of Lodi: grapes, walnuts and more. Our hosts were gracious and helpful. The three of us chose to taste the three flights they offered that day. Mostly reds with a couple of sparkling, and roses. We found their wines to be enjoyably dryer than our usual selections. It provided us a palate pleasing contrast. We spent the night at the vineyard via harvest hosts. It was a beautiful sunset in the arms of the grape vines.

Great value wine tasting. We did the $10 tasting and got to try 7 amazing wines they produce. The location is gorgeous and the attention, superb. Will be back and will.tell others visiting our AirBnB in Stockton about it too.

Klinker Brick never disappoints. The wine tastings are amazing. The customer service is wonderful. We recently became wine club members after several years of visiting while passing through Lodi in our van. They hold our deliveries for us so we can pick them up whenever we pass through. We bought a case of twelve bottles for our rehearsal dinner and people loved the wine. A few visits ago, we arrived within a half hour of closing and they accommodated us. Our friends were amazed by the quality of the wine and the beauty of the locale. 10/10 recommend.

Heather took us through a wonderful wine tasting experience. She and the other wonderful ladies even stayed late as to not make us feel rushed. The wines are exceptional and so are the staff! Definitely on our places to return list!

Caverns & Caves
Mercer Caverns, discovered by a gold prospector in 1885, offers guided tours through its vast limestone caves. The caverns feature stunning crystalline formations like the Angel Wings and delicate aragonite formations, as well as stalactites and stalagmites. Once used by Yokut Indians as a mortuary cave, it was later abandoned until its rediscovery. The guided tours last about 45 minutes and depart every half hour.
This is simply an amazing place. The story on how it was discovered and the history of the Cavern is something out of a fiction novel. I highly recommend this tour. It is such a unique place, well maintained and knowledgeable tour guides make it absolutely worth a visit. It's not a big place, so plan ahead, small parking lot. It is a very enclosed space, so it may not be for some people, but the cavern is literally 1 of a kind. There are some tight spaces and a lot of steep steps, but I am a fairly big guy, and I made it not problem.
Eric C — Google review
Great experience! The guide was a funny girl with energy, and she was making jokes and interacting with people. It's a must go if you're in the area. The tour is about 45 minutes and very entertaining. Good for kids too!
Rosa M — Google review
We visited Mercer Caverns just for the gem assay, and it was a fun kid-friendly activity! You get a bag of mining rough and use a water sluice to pan for treasures. Lots of colorful gems like quartz, amethyst, and obsidian—great for younger kids or anyone new to rockhounding. The staff was helpful and identified some of the better finds. It's not a serious geological experience, but it’s perfect for a quick hands-on souvenir and a little sparkle to take home. Great stop if you’re short on time or skipping the cave tour. 💎 Worth it for families or gem collectors looking for a casual, fun activity.

If you're in Calaveras County CA you've got to try and make the Mercer Caverns. We arrived on a Sunday, Aug 31st around 12:30pm and were put on the 3pm guided tour (no more than 15 people each). To burn 2 hours we went into Murphy's and had lunch at the Watering hole, which we highly recommend. Coming back, we went into the caverns. Wow. Stalagtites, stalagmites and so much more! Guide was exceptionally informative about history, pointing out all the cave formations, and clever funny too! Gave him a nice tip at the end. The cave is over 450 steps down with multiple stops along the way to admire features. Wife and I were really happy to have done this. It was the highlight of our day!
Randall M — Google review
Worth visiting if you are in Murphy’s, located a few miles outside of town. Well run and maintained, friendly staff and a great tour guide. Typical cavern tour - lots of really steep stairs, some narrow passages, have to watch you head in a few places, but the stairs are sturdy with hand rails all along the way. Some interesting features to see - the aragonite crystals were unique, and some nice closeups of “cave bacon”. Loved Zoltar in the gift shop. Only complaint is not being allowed to use a GoPro camera - some guy came out and told me video cameras were not allowed. I asked why. “Cause that’s the rule”. Kind of rude, and a silly rule since all phones take video, and the DSLR camera I did use take high resolution video. The GoPro was small and attached to my body with a harness. I’d like to know the reasoning, given that I used it at Moaning Caverns the week before.
Rich B — Google review
they say it's cold down there, but it was rather refreshing due to it being 98 outside. our guide Serena was amazing. very patient with our kids.
Jason B — Google review
Loved the staff, the gift shop was perfect now over stuffed with irrelevant merch to sell. The views of the caverns we amazing. Out of my family of 5 I struggled at the end with my breathing coming up and out, but I am a bit overweight. The lack of water with such little air is what got me so if you are over weight, asmatic or claustrophobic go in and have a great experience but know these things will trigger. Im looking forward to going back after loosing a little weight bringing my inhaler. Buy tickets on site may have to wait a little bit for the next tour they say how cold it is down there but with the constant moving you stay warm I got hot when we reached the bottom. I loved hearing all the history.

The Haggin Museum, located in Stockton's Victory Park, is a hidden gem that showcases three stories of galleries featuring paintings by renowned 19th and 20th-century artists. The art collection includes works by Albert Bierstadt, Rosa Bonheur, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, Jean-Leon Gerome, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Additionally, the museum offers exhibits on local history with artifacts and recreations from Stockton's past.
I went on the first Saturday of the month which has no admissions charge. Highly recommended! They have a very lovely collection of beautiful paintings, and the first floor history museum is so cute. They use the old boardwalks from the Amtrak station I believe down here in Stockton and they recreated the general stores from the early days of the city. They also have a very lovely collection of native American artifacts. Third floor is all advertising art from Leyendecker. I immediately fell in love with the very first painting from when you walk in.

A very enjoyable 90 minutes. They have quite a variety of exhibits, including some interesting old steam engines for fighting fires. The entrance fee is very reasonable and the staff are extremely nice and knowledgeable.

I visited this museum recently and had a pretty good experience overall. The building was clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. There was a nice mix of exhibits, some really interesting artifacts, and a few interactive displays that made the visit more engaging. The staff were polite and available to answer questions, which I appreciated.

Very well done! It’s been some years since we last visited this museum & the improvements are quite impressive. The bright open interior accentuates the high ceilings, wood panel flooring, decorative moulding. The Fine Arts are beautifully showcased, telling an elegant story. The Historical Collection amazingly preserved. The Sci Fi Collection an amusing addition. Bonus: We went on “Free Saturday”, which happens once monthly.

Exceptional, quaint and intimate fine art museum! We were more than impressed with the collection at the Haggin. We strolled and took our time in each exhibit, taking in history and seriously magnificent works of art. The Haggin is a hidden gem not to be missed! I recommend the museum store for interesting gifts, too. Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

No spoilers but there is a freaky trunk on the basement with a macabre story… Don't judge the museum by the outside, there is no parking lot, its surrounded by a park where many ppl go, but when I stepped in, it felt like a complete different World. A contrast of local history and old tractors with beautiful paintings and sculptures from late 1800. Downstairs the rooms you look in through a window are so incredibly well put together and your mind travels back in time for a bit. As well as amazing Native American art…Highly recommend a visit, park on the streets and walk through the park to the front door. Its great, Im telling you.

Beautiful little museum with exquisite artwork and displays. My favorite was the Leyendecker gallery. Under the Mexican Sky was a bit underwhelming. I was expecting to see actual Mexican artist/photographers with a lot of vibrant colors but it was dull. Other than that it was a wonderful experience. The arena is also home to exciting events such as WWE shows and family-friendly productions like Disney on Ice.
Today, I enjoyed myself at the Adventist Health Arena‼️The Stockton Kings played Sioux Falls and it was a great game‼️The main reason for my visit was the Link Up Event‼️This is the second or third event held here and it's always amazing‼️ The Link Up Event is a Sneaker, Streetwear, and Vintage Clothing EXPO for the whole family‼️If you haven't, you should definitely check them out‼️ Their events are top-tier and always a treat to be apart of‼️All-in-all, the Arena is very nice, spacious, and I really love the elevators so I don't have to walk up all the stairs with my bad leg‼️

Stockton Arena, Now known as Adventist Health Arena, this venue has been a major part of Stockton's sports scene since 2005, previously hosting the Stockton Thunder (ECHL), Stockton Heat (AHL), and currently the Stockton Kings (NBA G League). While the arena offers modern upgrades like LED banners, a new jumbotron, and an improved sound system, attendance has declined in recent years. The departure of the hockey teams and lack of city support has weakened the strong community connection the arena once had. However, its location near the University Plaza Hotel makes it a convenient option for out-of-town visitors.

We went to go see jo koy and it was awesome. Sitting on the side and having to turn your head to look at the stage sucked. The seats are to close and there's not to much space to walk through. Parking sucked too. Had to walk a few blocks.

Went here for a little Wayne concert and Overall it was a good experience. Parking was easy and not too expensive. It cost 20ish not crazy but I’ve seen worse. Seats in the area were clean and comfortable. It had drink holders and they were spacious. Staff was very friendly and kept area clean. Bathrooms were nice and maintained. Someone broke off the paper towel dispenser and a worker came in and fixed it relatively quick. Food are expensive like any arena, 8.30 for a bottle of water after tax which wouldn’t have been bad it they had a bottle refill area but they didn’t. The only other bad thing was they had a good amount of water fountains but they were all Turned Off. absolutely criminal for that, like I get they need to make money but having them all shut off was devious. Ended up spend 30+ dollars just for water. Overall fun but they need to provide free water to drink.

First time there and it was Amazing. Took My 3 year old Granddaughter to see Disney on Ice and we had An Amazing Experience. The show was Wonderfully done and there was plenty if seating.
Melinda C — Google review
Great place for a concert, whether it's for one artist or several. Wide enough space for walking throughout the arena. Clean. Parking is clean and not hard on a car's tires or suspension. Unfortunately, there is little to no security to ensure any valuables left inside a car is safe. So better to put items that can't be taken into the arena, in the trunk. It's a little off the beaten path, not in the safest neighborhood, and a little hard to get out of once the event is over, but it's manageable. Having multiple vendor booths for a artists merchandise, is easy and does not overlap with attendees standing in concession lines. A plus! Concession only accepts credit cards, no cash. The arena, itself is great for concerts, even the seats on the sides have a good viewing of the stage, and sitting in these seats won't even cause neck problems. Security is pretty decent, nice, friendly. A few of the guards on the night I went, were a little rude, and invasive. Like they didn't know to keep their mouth shut or their voice down to a whisper, instead it was like they were at a boxing match cheering a boxer on, it was really disruptive. And the people who worked the Concession Stand, they were really nice, friendly, patient and helpful.
Pam — Google review
Great place to see a concert! Easy to get to from freeway, ample free parking within close walking distance, loved the numerous smaller concessions and restrooms with smaller quicker lines rather than waiting in loooong lines at larger venues that only have a few giant concession stands. Friendly staff and reasonably priced drinks & food!

Ironstone Vineyards, established by John Kautz in 1995, has grown from a small 12-acre plot to a fourth-generation business producing award-winning wines sold globally. Visitors can enjoy wine tastings at the Tasting Room and complimentary tours of the wine caverns, amphitheatre, and museum. The vineyard's wine caves feature a unique waterfall used to regulate humidity for aging reserve wines.
This place is a must-see destination if you're up in the Gold country california. They have really good food and many wines and the grounds are amazing. They have so many historical artifacts here and also the best selection of different wine options like slushies, dessert wines and also some really nice cabs and my favorite was reserved cab franc. There's a lot of history here that it takes multiple trips to sync everything in and next time we come we'll be doing the cave tour as well which is very exciting. Quinn was our wine server and she went well beyond our expectations. She is so friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and which one she recommends. We are very grateful for this experience and will be back soon.

Always a super beautiful place..but the workers are not ever very welcoming and friendly. Just basically going for the views now. The girls at the Deli act like you are bothering them if you ask them any questions. It has happened the last two times. So we definitely didn't eat there. The flowers and vegetation are incredible during spring time and we do love it. Gift shop wasn't open on Saturday, so we weren't sure what that was about. There are paths and trails and elevators, so it is a good place to go with wheelchairs too.

Amazing winery and history museum. It's easy to forget how much history california has. Don't forget to visit the 45 lb gold nugget but theres a ton of fossils as well that were in great shape. The winery itself has a ton of events. Food. Chilled ready to drink wines. They hold concerts and holiday events I had no idea so much was going on in one spot. The wine tasting was great we had thorough explanations of everything and the wines were all really good. Had no idea the obsession fruit wines were part of the same winery. Really great place to hang out and relax.

Was super surprised by the sheer size and scale of this place! Was expecting a tasting room with a cute flowery outdoor area but it was not that. I went to a winery for the first time and it was amazing, atleast they let people in who don't drink wine and I really appreciate that unlike wineries in Napa. The place is huge and amazing, very beautiful ❤️ The way they have designed it and maintained it is commendable. I took a tour too and the lady who gave us the tour was very nice and friendly. I can spend my whole day at this place. This place also host car shows n musical concerts from time to time. It's a must visit.

It is known for its well-maintained facilities including parking, bathrooms, and hiking trails with beautiful trees to admire. Visitors can also explore the nearby Stanislaus River for scenic hikes.
We visited Columbia State Park on Monday. It was peaceful and cool day for us to walk around this historic park. Almost shops and restaurants are closed for weekdays. It seems we miss the weekend vibe. However we feel it’s interesting just to walk through the park - Get to know about gold rush town with its real old history. A lot of things for family to enjoy a whole day at this town. * old well fargo bank * Old style bowling * Museum * Gold panning * Old jail style A bonus star for kid-friendly. Park road are blocked off all. We feel safety to walk or even cross the road. Great experience - Clean and beautiful park. Free park / free parking; worth the visit. It’s an amazing hidden gem in California but not so many ppl know. Thank you all workers for keeping this place well maintained and preserved!

Super cool old west town from the gold rush era. The place is closed to cars so one parks around the town and there are plenty of parking spots. We ended up grabbing a beer and a personal pepperoni pizza from the east saloon. The town itself had several open stores from clothing to antique, to a general store and even the wagon front store and the Wells Fargo store. There is also an area where people can search for gold. This will be a great spot to bring the entire family. Highly recommended.

This was my first visit, it’s been on my list for some months now. There is a drive to Columbia is beautiful in its own right. The history of the city is fascinating. There are some fun activities while you’re there. from a horse drawn carriage ride. Old school bowling, exploring the old buildings. The Jail, School house and cemetery were amongst my favorites. Cool off with some ice cream, grab some old school candy and have a picnic at the boulders. Once you’re done eating. Have some fun climbing around the boulders. It’s a cute village.

An experience you must have!! Must make a full day to be able to have ice cream at the ice cream parlor, candle making and eat at the Saloon and go shopping and support local businesses. Don't forget the stage coach ride! There's also camping nearby, so plan accordingly. Also, don't miss the old school, school House.

We went on Columbia's Gold Rush Days, second Saturday of each month. This is a MUST VISIT PLACE. There are many businesses you can visit such as the General Store, the What Cheer Saloon, Candy Kitchen, Blacksmiths and so so many more business. People live in this town so be respectful. Dog are allowed there but not in any business or building. Entry to park, tours and museum is free. But there are restaurants, stores, a real Blacksmith shop, ice cream parlor and much more to spend money on if you choose too. There is so much to do. Like take a picnic, do a self walking tour, join a guided tour for free, buy a ticket to the stage coach and so much more. Th stage coach is so fun and the driver was great. It was worth the $17 tickets and don't forget to have something for the bandits!! 😊 You can eat at the Saloons, restaurant, grab picnic stuff at the mercantile or pick up a snack at the candy store or bakery. We brought our own picnic from home but next time we will just buy at the Columbia Mercantile. Also buy the fresh Bread there it's soooo worth it. Wild flower Honey on the sourdough mmmmmm yum! Columbia's Gold Rush Days is free event every 2nd Saturday of the month, the Docents are dressed in period clothes and they will give tours plus answer any history questions you might have about Columbia at that time. Very knowledgeable people!! The militia guys do a march to raise the flags and a gun salute (fake bullets). It was super cool (loud, only for a second) and they stayed after to answer questions. I can't say enough about this place, take your time, wear walking shoes and enjoy all the cool history. Every staff member at the business and the volunteers for the park that we spoke with were Just Amazing, nice and super helpful. Amazing people!!! If you bring a picnic you could spend the whole day not spending money just enjoying your time OR you can treat yourself to lunch & a snack and still spend the whole day having a blast!!! There are lots of shaded picnic areas, clean public restrooms and places to walk. We are going back for the Christmas event in December.

Really cute little town to wander around for a few hours. Some shops were closed when I went on a Tuesday and the ice cream wasn't locally made, so that was a bit disappointing. But the museum was interesting. The shops had some fun handmade items. I liked the free wooden bowling lane. I didn't pan for gold, but it looked like fun, so did the horse drawn carriage ride. It's primarily shops and restaurants, but worth a peek if you're in the area.
Rachel C — Google review
This place was so cute, I want to live there! There's lots to do and it's very kid friendly. It's a great place to visit whether you want to shop and do activities or just look around. You can pan for gold too! People are very friendly.

Railtown 1897 State Historic Park is a must-visit for train enthusiasts and families alike. The park offers tours of the roadhouse, seasonal locomotive rides, and weekend excursions on historic trains from April through October. Visitors can embark on a 6-mile, 45-minute journey through California's Gold Country. The park also features docent-led or self-guided tours, a movie museum, and ample picnic areas.
My son and me are big train fans. On the way from Lake Tahoe we stopped here. It was amazing. We got a private tour through the roundhouse and the workshop and could see amazing steam locomotives. As a matter of fact, they have the original locomotives from the movie Back to the Future III which is also a star in a lot of other movies. We definitely recommend going here if you are train lovers as we are.

A Must-Visit Historic Railroad Site A fantastic historical site dedicated to the legacy of railroads. The display of locomotives—all are over 100 years old—is truly impressive and a step back in time. We were lucky enough to take the tour with Walt, an 87-year-young volunteer whose passion and knowledge brought the entire experience to life. He made our visit unforgettable. I highly recommend making this a stop while in town

My son is obsessed with trains and absolutely loved this place. It is a historical landmark that really makes you feel like you stepped back in time. We loved learning all of the history of the iconic locomotives! My boys loved pushing the button to start the train in the little shop. We will definitely be back!

We visited Railtown 1897 State Historic Park completely by chance, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. From the very first moment, we fell in love with the atmosphere of this place. We managed to hop on the last Sierra train ride of the day, and it honestly felt like being inside a movie set — so authentic and magical. The historic trains, the scenery, and the friendly staff made the whole experience unforgettable. I would highly recommend this park to anyone, whether you’re a history lover, a family with kids, or just looking for something unique to do.

May 2025 After many years of trying, we finally were able to visit and ride the train. It was a glorious day all the way around. The staff and volunteers were great. The grounds are nice and well taken care of. We purchased hotdog lunches there after the ride and ate at one of the many picnic tables. Had a great roundhouse tour. Excellent book and gift store.

Railtown 1896 State Historic Park offers some older trains and a train ride. The park is only $5 for admission and fairly small and can be seen in about a half hour. The train ride is a separate fee.

Went on the Historic train ride and it was a ton of fun. All the volunteers working here were super friendly and the reenactors made the train ride something the whole family will remember! The museum itself is a great place for foamers or just normal people interested in the local history of the rails. Be sure to visit the gift shop afterwards because it is full of lots of very cool train related items for young and old!

A great stop if you’re visiting the area. The staff here is very helpful and genuinely welcoming, and they had loads of information about local history, scenic drives, museums, hikes, and hidden spots I wouldn’t have found on my own. Brochures, maps, recommendations — everything you need to explore Mariposa and the surrounding foothills. A quick stop that makes a big difference in planning your visit.
Kytka — Google review
The Mariposa County Visitor Center and Chamber of Commerce is located along Hwy 140 near the northwest end of the town. Opening hours are 8am to 5pm daily. This is a good place for information related to the historic attractions of the small town of Mariposa as well as events that might be taking place in the town. You can pick up a free map of the Old Town with location of the historic places to visit here at the Visitor Centre. We found staff here helpful in describing hikes in the are as well. They recommended the Merced River hike to see wildflowers that were starting to appear at the end of April. This ended up being a good recommendation. You can pick up information and maps for Yosemite National Park at this visitor centre as well. Further, you'll find a gift shop room with souvenir and related items for those interested. Parking in front is limited to probably 6-8 vehicles at a time. There was nobody else there when we stopped by in the late morning so this will probably not be an issue for most who want to pass by.

Stopped in after a long slog up from Monterey hoping to get a look at a sequoia before I croak. Phil, the nice man behind the desk, was incredibly helpful and efficient. Had all my options figured out in no time. *Really* helped with our continued travel decisions. Oh, and I've found the quote that I had wanted to share with him. "People who confuse entomology and etymology bug me in ways I can't put into words.” :-)

Sho at the information center was immensely helpful when I arrived at the visitor center. Even though it was less than 20 minutes to closing, he still took his time to provide me all of the necessary materials for Yosemite and loads of excellent advice. He really took the time to go above and beyond and I appreciate that!

My husband and I were on our honeymoon driving up the California coast. We had a few days unplanned and made our way toward Yosemite, without knowing where we would stay. We stopped in the visitor's center, admittedly to use a restroom, and found the absolute most helpful and friendly people working there. They went out of their way to help us find a place to camp near the Mariposa Grove, where we wanted to visit the next day. They were very informative about the area, places to see, and how to see them. We were very happy with the cute little campground we stayed at for $23, it was exactly what we needed for the night. I hope they get to see this review, because they really made our day!

The ladies were helpful. We went to the mining and mineral exhibit they suggested a must for any Rock hound. They had covered up the handicap parking space with a cigarette ash tray. I am handicap it was difficult walking down the steep hill. I am happy to say they moved the ash tray right away and there is now space, way to go ladies.

The hours on the website states open until 6:00 pm . I arrived at 5:00 pm to get information, purchase maps and souvenirs if mariposa and Yosemite. As I walked through the door, the gentleman working the front desk said he was closing in 45 seconds and was locking the door. I asked for a map and he slammed the Yosemite guide paper on the desk and said here it is. He was very rude. Don’t post you are open until 6, then close at 5:00 but more importantly greet your tourists with more respect.

Located in the historic county courthouse in downtown Mariposa, the Mariposa Museum & History Center offers a fascinating journey through the history of Mariposa County. The museum features diverse exhibits on topics such as the Gold Rush, Native American culture, and the evolution of Yosemite National Park. Visitors can explore a well-curated Gold Rush exhibit showcasing various artifacts from that era, including mining equipment and personal belongings. Additionally, there are displays on local Native American history and California's mining methods.
Very interesting place to visit. It is well put together and is funded by donations and worked by volunteers. We only had one hour but could have spent much more time there if you read everything at each exhibit.

If you want to learn about the gold rush, this is the place. They have great displays, so much information and history. You can also learn about the native tribes, see their displays and even learn their language. They have a neat little store and clean restrooms. You pay $10 donation per person.

We were sent here for a local and I am incredibly happy they sent us here! So much information but easily digestible information. If you love history or just like looking at cool antiques this is the place for you. Spent multiple hours here engulfed in the information and there is something interesting for everyone. Spent an hour of so talking to some of the workers who gave us insight on the local authors of a few books in the shop area. Excited to learn more about the history of the area and would definitely recommend this as a stop in Mariposa!

WOW! What a museum. This place blew me away from the moment I walked in. The exhibits inside are packed with authentic Gold Rush artifacts, beautifully written panels, and stories that make Mariposa’s past feel alive. You can move from mining equipment to pioneer household items to early photographs and actually understand how people lived, worked, and survived here. The grounds are just as impressive — old machinery, restored buildings, and outdoor displays that give you a real sense of Mariposa’s early industry and daily life. It’s one of those museums where you keep thinking, “I had no idea this much history happened here.” The gift shop is fantastic, with a great selection of books, souvenirs, and locally made items. And the staff? Wonderful. Friendly, welcoming, and truly knowledgeable. They know their history and clearly love sharing it. If you want to learn the real story of the Sierra foothills, this museum is an absolute must. Five stars doesn’t feel like enough.

Wow! What an informative gem! We spent WAY more time here than we planned on, but wete mesmerized with all the crazy cool gold mining information and old displays! From Native Tribes of the area, to the mining equipment and information(including letters from folks during that era) this place was amazing! The workers were sweet too! Loved the old doctor equipment displays and the judge and jury info from that era. (which was unfortunately very sad to think people of different races were treated the way they were)The way the displays were set up you could imagine yourself in an old kitchen during the goldmine era and even imagine what it was like to dress! This is a must stop! And it's big!!

A great museum. Staff was informative and great with our kid. There was a scavenger hunt which we completed. Lots of local history to learn. I was glad to see the section on Joaquin Murrietta and surprised to see a 6ft long 2 person chainsaw (I have my grandfather's from when he was a lumberjack). Would recommend.

This exhibit features artifacts from the Miwok, Mono, and Paiute tribes, who were the original inhabitants of the Mariposa County area. Nestled in the southern reaches of Yosemite National Park, Mariposa Grove is a breathtaking sanctuary that showcases some of the largest and most awe-inspiring giant sequoia trees on Earth. Among its towering giants are the renowned Grizzly Giant and the California Tunnel Tree, which draw visitors into a world where nature reigns supreme. The grove offers an enchanting hiking experience that allows first-time adventurers to immerse themselves in this ancient forest, surrounded by stunning granite cliffs and majestic mountain views.
A fantastic visit and the Grizzly Giant trail was excellent - especially the quieter section beyond the tree itself. Some wonderful views and great wildlife to admire. The only downside was that the shuttle bus was not frequent enough to meet demand - on the return trip the bus ran around every 12 minutes but the line was so long that we were only able to board the third bus despite the drivers doing an admirable job of ensuring that every last bit of space was used to cram more people in. This did not detract significantly from a really superb visit.

We visited this place on December 25th and it was an amazing experience, if you want a fantastic experience wait until it's covered with snow, you can visit with all the family but consider that the public transportation int the park doesn't work because of the icy roads so you have to consider a long walking distance, get a back pack with snacks and water. Wear comfy and warm clothes and shoes and just enjoy the amazing landscapes and the amazing sequoias they are out of this world experience.

Mariposa Grove in Yosemite National Park is a fantastic and free place to visit. Free that is once you have purchased your pass and/or park access reservation. Only a few minutes drive from the South entrance to Yosemite, Mariposa Grove is serviced by a large carpark and, a free shuttle bus that takes visitors up to the starting point of the Sequoia Trail. Once off the shuttle bus you are free to roam around a broad selection of long and short walks around the forest. At the bus drop off point there are also public toilets should the need arise. A trail map is available to enable you to choose your route then off you go. The giant sequoias are world famous and when in Yosemite, it would be criminal not to come and see these majestical giants of nature. They really are a sight to see and you are certainly standing in the presence of giants during your time here. The California Tunnel Tree and the Giant Grizzly are two of the famous sequoias and these are spectacular to see however, as you continue to walk, many more equally wonderful trees present themselves around every corner. Sadly, fires regularly tear through these woodlands but as tragic as this seems, this is all part of the sequoias life cycle enabling them to keep growing stronger and stronger. Mariposa Grove is a great place to visit and I would highly recommend you spend some time here enjoying nature.
John G — Google review
Very beautiful trail. If you take the trail and not the bus (the bus service begins from May) it will take you up to one hour and a half (1:30) from the parking to reach the Grizzly Giant. I recommend to take the trail although the time you will spend. We will love it. If you go off season it is not well cleaned and maybe you will find difficulties with the ice and the fallen trees. Stay in the trail and be aware of mountain lions (cougars). They are shy with the humans but if you go close to their nest they roar

Giant Sequoia tree 2 mile loop trail through Mariposa Grove, located at the South entrance of Yosemite National Park. Try the free ranger guided 1 1/2 hour tour everyday at 9:30 AM. . if you have been to Sequoia National Park to see these trees, you probably do not need to go here. It is repetitive with far fewer trees.

Wineries & Vineyards
Ficklin is a hidden gem. I never expected to find a world-class Port winery just a handful of miles west of Fresno. The sign said reservations are required to visit the gorgeous tasting room, but they cheerfully accommodated our unscheduled visit. None of the wines were less than $20, but the quality more than made up for that. We each got served three free samples. The wines were surprisingly different from each other. This is a true hidden gem in the central valley and worth a stop if you are driving through.

We just happened to come across Ficklin Vineyards while driving through Madera and wow! We were so impressed. Chase is a fantastic member of their team: personable, friendly, and knowledgeable. As newcomers to Port wine, I really appreciated his approachable introduction to the different varieties and the attention to detail that goes into their winemaking. It made for a memorable and welcoming experience.

Wow. What an incredible experience. This was a very pleasant surprise. My husband and I, along with my parents, are Port aficionados so when I saw a port winery outside of Fresno, we were very skeptical. Boy were we proven wrong! We showed up 30 mins before closing but not once did Denise make us feel rushed. In fact, she took the time to thoroughly explain everything to us and add in personal stories. We LOVED all of the port we tasted. The Old Vine Tinta was a fan favorite and it just got a perfect score of 100 points in the Sunset International Wine Competition!! The best part? It’s only $22! We all enjoyed our experience so much that both couples signed up for the PORTfolio Wine Club. It’s $115 biannually, which is well worth it. You get 3 bottles of their latest release along with discounts and access to special events. If you don’t live locally, they do ship for member’s bianual boxes at a $19 flat rate and you’re able to add on other bottles for that same shipping cost. Did I mention there are no tasting fees?? Please do yourself a favor and check out Ficklin, you will not be disappointed.

If your into REAL PORT wine this is the place. They are old school and ALL of their ports are great and they have won awards for their ports. The have one port they make each year that the put a bit of their 1958 port into it. Now if you want a bottle of 1958 last I know if they sell or 900.00 a bottle but that is approx 14 years ago.

Everything was perfect - wine, knowledge, environment. We ended up buying several bottles. Same evening we ended up in total wine - only to see the same bottle for $7 less. Not a big deal, and left a sour taste.

I love visiting this place because where you do the wine tasting is inside of a warehouse where they keep all berrals of wine. Looks vintage and very intriguing. The employee that was distrubiting the wine was very knowledable of the comoany's history. The wine itself here is very good to me be some of them have whiskey in it also which is my favorite and a plus.I would definately recommend this place and its free here no charge for wine tasting. Bring your friends to enjoy.
Jason B — Google review
Love this place, my husband and I are not wine drinkers, but we decided to check it out while we were in Fresno. We were greeted by a nice gentleman by the name of John, he gave us a wonderful description of the different kinds of port wines and how they are developed, along with a taste of each one (4 in total). We loved the port wines. They deserve all the medals they have received through the years. My only regret was that we were unable to purchase any to take home and they do not distribute to PR, we will be on the lookout for these wines in the future. We highly recommend this port wine to everyone. J&J
