San Clemente State Beach is a scenic coastal location boasting a mile-long sandy beach that sits beneath a steep cliff, providing picturesque views and strong breezes. The beach is rocky and rugged, offering limited space for sunbathing and swimming but ideal for camping, hiking, fishing, bonfires, and surfing. Great camping sites but bathrooms need more attention. Would be nice if they were cleaned at 6am instead of a later time. I went to use them in the morning and it was not cleaned from the day before.
Joe F — Google review
One of the best camping site with full RV hookups and awesome view of the Pacific Ocean!!! Very dark evenings allowing for perfect view of all the constellations..on full moons, its so bright you don’t need a flash light to hike to the beach. Shore fishing is great as they have grunions runs, plenty of sandcrab bait, and super secluded beach. Wave are mesuim awesome for surfing and boogie boarding. Great plac to have family parties until 10pm.
Michael L — Google review
Beautiful & clean! We camped here for 4 days & 3 nights. The view is remarkable. There's is a path that takes you right down to the ocean. It is a VERY steep path! It was a little tricky getting down & especially so coming back up! The campsite is clean with a fire pit and covered picnic bench at each site. There are multiple bathrooms & pay to use showers that are well maintained on the grounds.
Traci P — Google review
Love this place, so close to home, but it feels like you're somewhere else. The beach is beautiful. The campgrounds are clean and well-maintained, including the restrooms and showers. You have plenty of room between yourself and your neighbors. We look forward to coming here each and every time. The rail trail is a beautiful and flat walk to the San Clemente pier and even further north if you like. I've been here six times and look forward to returning each and every time. So many great places to eat and visit nearby as well. *10/13/2024 update* Simply my favorite place to camp. They do an outstanding job keeping it clean and in good condition. The sunsets are not to be missed. My favorite trip is always my next one to San Clemente.
Robert P — Google review
Close to San Clemente Pier. The park was good with enough space between sites. It's a beach environment so it's not lush green grass. The beach itself is a 15-20 min walk down a fairly steep hill. There is a lot to do in San Clemente, including the pier, breweries, etc.
Bryan S — Google review
Pretty cool camp ground. With a short walk down to beach. Although the walk could be somewhat hard for some people, and definitely not wheelchair accessible due to the fact that it's a bit of a decline walking path down, which ends at the metrolink train track which you have to cross to get to the beach. But the camp ground has a spectacular view from the top of the walking path before the decline which is a huge open plato with picnic benches placed all around with trees for shade. Great fir large groups or for many small groups. The beach was clean and their were life guards on duty. But make sure to pay attention to the red flags when deciding on your spot because red flag means rocks which let me tell you, IT MEANS ROCKS! like big boulders that are only visible when waves revise bak for only a moment until another waves comes in and crashes over it. And beside them the waves crash right at shore creating a huge trench full of tons of rocks so your legs get beat up for sure. and you cannot swim where the flags are because it's very difficult to get pass the rocky trench since it's again wherr the waves crash. So from my experience it's not the best beach to go swimming at. But if your surfing or boogie boarding maybe it's more fit for that. Also I don't know how it was in other areas where there wasn't a red flag. I'm sure much better. I'd definitely return here again to find out!
Brittany W — Google review
A pretty long walk down to the beach be prepared a wagon helps! There is campground for overnight stays. It costs to park but we'll worth it. Fairly clean, only a few rocks and very little seaweed. Overall great beach!
Don S — Google review
We camped in October 2023 on a Friday and Saturday. The campground has a great family vibe. The beach was quiet. My girls loved doing the Junior Ranger program. The historic cottage/gift shop is adorable. Such nice people who work there. Loved having a pergola for our tent site. The bluffs and beach are stunning.

Oceanside Municipal Pier

Fishing pier
Sights & Landmarks
Oceanside Municipal Pier, an iconic wooden fishing pier originally built in 1888, extends 1,942 feet into the Pacific Ocean. It's a prime spot for whale watching as it straddles whale migration routes. Visitors can catch glimpses of gray whales, minke whales, fin whales, humpback whales and dolphins from the pier or book a family whale watch cruise with Oceanside Adventures.
The ambiance and scenery at Oceanside were absolutely phenomenal. From the sound of the waves to the stunning ocean views, it was the kind of place that instantly puts you at ease. Whether you’re relaxing on the beach or just taking it all in, Oceanside has a vibe that’s hard to beat.
Rodzilla — Google review
We rented two surreys to bike along the one-mile strand, $70 for one hour total. The weather was sunny and breezy. The walk along the pier was gorgeous, and we got to watch the surfers catch some waves. Parking was a challenge in the area.
Ari E — Google review
Oceanside Pier is a must-visit in Southern California. With panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, sandy beaches, surfers riding waves, and the Oceanside coastline stretching for miles, it’s perfect for photography, walking, or just relaxing. These shots were taken from the pier on a clear summer day, showing the vibrant blue water, wide sandy shore, and the bustling beach scene. If you’re visiting Oceanside, CA, the pier is ideal for sunset views, ocean breezes, and classic California coastal scenery.
Gracie B — Google review
Fun Stop when in Oceanside. I grew up coming to the pier in the 1970's. The buildings and businesses along the shoreline have changed but the Pier is still there. Multiple interations of the pier have stood for decades. The pier has been beaten by storms and most recently fire. The end of the pier is still closed but most of the pier is open to the public. Fishing is popular for many and the pier provides good spots. Rental equipment is available if you want to wet a line and don't have gear. Maybe, some smoked fish will soothe the call. Paid parking is available just south of the pier. Public restrooms are also available. The "Top Gun House" is across the street from the pier area. Take a walk down the pier and breathe in some sea air. You might spot some sea lions or even a dolphin.
Traveling G — Google review
The Oceanside Fishing Pier is a fantastic spot for a relaxing walk by the ocean. Whether you’re visiting during the day or at night, it offers breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere. At night, the pier is beautifully lit, creating a calm and romantic vibe that makes it perfect for an evening stroll. It’s one of those places where you can truly enjoy the sound of the waves and the fresh sea breeze. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Oceanside!
Elavan — Google review
I lived in Oceanside in the early 60's, when I was just a young child & my boyfriend & I come back every now & then to fish on the Oceanside pier & he loves fishing on the jetty, too! Before we even met, he told me he spent about a decade of his childhood & teens back in the 70s, staying in a condo in Oceanside, right on the beach, every summer! He just loved it, as it was nice to get out of San Bernardino County, where he grew up, to be by the ocean!
Marlayne B — Google review
Stopped by the beach and pier for a date night. Beach was okay, but the pier was nice. It was pretty crowded near the pier when we went. Parking is a pain, Parking lots are a good walk from the beach/pier and cost by the hour. Otherwise, we still had a good time walking the pier and watching the surfers and people fishing.
Bob S — Google review
It’s a pier but a little rough. A lot is going on but it’s not super dangerous. Keep your eyes open. It’s not pristine but it has a cool SoCal vibe. Visit at your own risk because on a good day there are thousands of people on the pier and around there. Closer to the beach is more safe but as you leave and you got few blocks away it all feels sketchier but it’s not exactly dangerous.

Really beautiful theater, great sound throughout, wonderful performances and I always look forward to visiting here. Such an enriching place!
Kianna J — Google review
Great and professional theater experience, and it's right here in our backyard! We saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and it was phenomenal. Perfect for a fun night on the town, dinner and a show with lots of fun places nearby after or before the show. Highly recommended!
Michael W — Google review
HIGH-QUALITY PERFORMANCES! The Old Town Temecula Community Theater is outstanding! Each event I’ve attended here has been fun and enjoyable. I’ve seen play productions, concerts, and recently the Annual Jazz Festival! The seats are SO comfortable here and there’s plenty of ramps for disabled guests. The volunteers and staff are very welcoming and helpful. The venue is intimate which allows each seat to provide a great view! The theater seats have a lot of leg room. There’s upstairs seating, but it’s limited. You can also find a small balcony section on each upper side of the theater, however, they’re also limited in space. Most seats will be found at the bottom level. The theater’s box office can be found in the neighboring venue, The Merc. Additionally, the theater has a set of restrooms across from it and a snack shop that has wine, soda. candy and other goodies. The venue is family friendly and has a great atmosphere. Being in the heart of Old Town Temecula, one has several food options before and after an event as there’s many restaurants and bars nearby! I have an appreciation for this theater as they really reach out to the community and tickets aren’t overpriced!
Lorenzo W — Google review
Most wonderful Theater!! Such a treasure and such an enrichment for the community in this town!! Great selections of shows as well! I've seen several shows there myself AND also performed there myself with the local Southwest Women's Chorus (look us up OR join!). The acoustics are superb, the staff is so friendly and helpful. The shows reach from performances of non-local artists to performances of local artist. Variety of shows are great! Really one of the best venues in the whole Temecula Valley! I recommend to buy tickets ahead of time because shows can sell out very quickly. Definitely give this Theater a visit!!
N P — Google review
Small venue, but that is a good thing. We sat in the balcony. Interestingly, the balcony is just one row of seats. That makes egress and access difficult. But the center seats in the balcony have the best view, so tripping over your neighbors is worth it!
John S — Google review
Saw Led Zepagain here and it was a great venue! Sound & lighting were were really good. Seating was comfortable. There were no signs posted for the entrance so we walk around building twice to find it. Parking is $26 in the lots & you have to pay thru your phone. Not even the lot attendant could get it to work right. I had to park 4 blocks away at the city hall parking structure, which is free but made us miss 25 minutes of the show.
Mark S — Google review
A must see when you're in town. Lots of restored old buildings, food options (try Goat and Vine restaurant) and shops. Make sure to also go down the side streets as there are other shops around that are worth visiting. Lastly, there's a public parking about 2 blocks up away from the main street that helps avoid competing in finding parking.
A A — Google review
Great venue, not a bad seat in the house. The place has the feel of a Broadway theater, with a gorgeous outdoor courtyard serving as a lobby. Saw the Andrew Lloyd Webber spectacular and it was a great tribute to the composer! Thoroughly enjoyed it!

A beautiful winery! The staff were amazing and helpful with wine recommendations. They had beautiful outdoor seating and a lovely atmosphere. We loved their frozen wine and the summer sangria
Marisa P — Google review
Very unfriendly and rigid manager ruined family outing. We wanted to sit in the picnic area. It was completely empty. We were going to buy bottles and food but we wanted to eat our own cheese with the wine. They refused, made it uncomfortable and were completely uncompromising. We’ve always come here and done this. Always buy lots of wine. We’ll avoid this winery from now on and recommend to all our friends to do the same.
Aksell N — Google review
We came for the members dinner tonight and have been members here since the early 2000s. The venue had to change due to the weather conditions, but Wilson Creek Rose vacation and pivoted in high fashion. It was seamless and pulled off without looking like there was any effort. It’s a great tribute to why we joined winery and thank you again for an amazing night celebrating your 25th anniversary
Tonja E — Google review
We attended a wedding in the vineyard, followed by the reception at the winery (did not spend the night). OUTSTANDING! A beautiful venue with friendly and helpful staff. An added shout out to the wait staff team during cocktail hour and reception ... the entire team did a phenomenal job from start to finish.
MJ H — Google review
I was so excited to photograph this company Christmas party. This winery was my dear friend's absolute favorite – he used to spoil me with their chocolate cups and almond champagne. Being able to work here as a photographer, I can confidently say the experience was everything I'd hoped for. It’s easy to see why this place held such a special spot in his heart; it certainly didn't disappoint.
Jean P — Google review
We have frequented at least 3 different times for events and individual tasting. each time, wines were average at best and grounds had commercial vibes. Staff were pushing for purchase and usually inattentive. My family and I prefer visiting other nearby wineries for better taste, price, and service.
Sushi C — Google review
The place is pretty, and it can accommodate large numbers of people, something that can be a plus or a minus, depending. However, I have to say, food quality is terrible. I don’t think we’ll be coming here again. It’s a place for crowds. The kids area is quite far from the dinning areas so kids cannot go and play after they finish their meager kids menu food.
Penelope’s L — Google review
The food at the grille was not the best. It tasted like 7-11 food. The wine, however, was amazing. They just opened up the vineyard tour the weekend of 6/28/25, and it was great. About 1.5 hour tour with 8 glasses of wine included. Traci, the tour guide was phenomenal. Full of energy and enthusiasm.

Restaurant
Nestled within the picturesque Ponte Family Estate, The Restaurant at Ponte offers a delightful blend of American cuisine and an elegant outdoor ambiance. This charming eatery is a standout in Temecula's wine country, ideal for those looking to enjoy an intimate dining experience paired with exquisite dishes. With versatile spaces like the Decanter Room and Vineyard Pavilion, it’s also a fantastic choice for hosting special events such as wedding rehearsal dinners.
This was our first time visiting the Restaurant at Ponte Winery in Temecula, Ca. We were going to celebrate my Birthday. The scenery outside the restaurant was stunning. It was so beautiful. We had made a reservation with open table. After arriving at the restaurant we were seated right away. We ordered the Calamari entree with a couple of glasses of wine. The Calamari was so delicious. Definitely the best Calamari I have ever had. Our server was very friendly and outgoing. I ordered the grilled shrimp and my Wife ordered the steak. The food was very good. The Shrimp had the greatest flavor. The seating was so amazing. We were outside overlooking the Winery right at Sunset. It was one of the most romantic dinners I have had in many years. This was an amazing restaurant. We will definitely be going back to this Restaurant very soon. This is my new favorite place to eat in the Inland Empire
Jeffrey M — Google review
Allergy friendly. I’m allergic to gluten and dairy and they were able to accommodate. We had an impromptu date here. It was our first time. Our server was Meghan and she was simply the best!! She was happy and food allergies didn’t phase her. We had the mussels, their gluten (and dairy) free bread. The sauce used on the mussels is my new favorite thing, and the gluten free bread was delicious! And a great carrier for the mussel sauce. The vibe of this place is amazing!! Definitely want to come back. Looking into doing a weekend here. Our server definitely made it a great experience.

We went to The Restaurant at Ponte for our 29th anniversary. We made reservation for lunch. We were seated right away. Our waitress, Cheyenne, was awesome from beginning to end. We ordered the steak and shrimp and the scallops entree. Both were excellent! Since it is part of the winery, we did see a lot of people with wine and the place looked really busy. We appreciated the waitress remembering that we came in for our anniversary and brought us anniversary ice cream and written on it was a “happy anniversary”. Overall it was an awesome experience being there for the first time!

Loved this winery! The service and atmosphere was amazing. I had the Polenta. It was delicious and all the flavors combined were perfection. My friend ordered the Sea Pasta and loved it as well. Beautiful restaurant for a party as well.

We had my bachelorette here and I can’t stop talking about how amazing everything was. The beauty of the restaurant with the gardens was amazing. Second our amazing server Jess was literally the best. I even spilled wine and she made sure we got taken care of. I can’t say enough good things about that woman. She made our whole experience. Having been to Temecula many times, I can’t believe I’ve never been here and will be coming back
Brittani O — Google review
Amazing food in beautiful setting. Very pricey but worth the dollar. The restaurant is in a beautiful winery. While waiting for our table, we walked around and enjoyed the beautiful landscaping and gardens. The restaurant is very busy. So our waiter was overwhelmed and wasn't able to provide proper service. At one point, he had 5 checks in his hands to different tables. Never the less, the food is so good that it's worth the wait. The portion is small, but the calories can be made up by the beautiful wine this winery offers. It's just such a luxury treat and experience. They have kids menu too and our kids loved the mac and cheese. This is a great spot for a special occasion.
Kevin M — Google review
I highly recommend this place. First, the waiter, Josh, was extremely professional kind, and attentive. I was blown out by the customer service in this restaurant. Second, the food was exquisite including that amazing bread they give before the food is ready. I wish I could buy some to take home. 😂 Finally, if that is not enough, the views of this place are totally breathtaking, so dreamy! 😍❤️ P/S: I took a bottle of their great wine home. 🍷❤️

Casinos & Gambling
Nestled in Temecula wine country, Pechanga Resort Casino is a top-tier AAA four-diamond hotel and one of the largest casino resorts in the US. Situated near old town Temecula and renowned wineries, it offers modern rooms, a rooftop nightclub, diverse dining options, and an award-winning golf course. The resort boasts an outdoor pool, full-service spa, shopping center, and access to local attractions.
Amazingly clean and friendly atmosphere in the main lobbies, restaurants and resort areas. Rooms in the resort tower were modern, comfortable and immaculate! Great views of the golf course and local hills. THE ONLY DOWN SIDE in their local Gas Station no longer sells Navajo Tacos (aka Indian Tacos). I’ll be honest in that my enthusiasm to visit this resort has lessened after they switched to chicken sandwiches. Now the next best place to get this Native delicacy is hundreds of miles and a state border crossing away. #sadface

I went for a concert, I was sooooo happy south this intimate venue. The staff was super helpful with directions, attentive, aaaaaaand looked happy to be there! I learned a lot at the resort... - they have parking near whatever you're trying to do. Great tip to call and find out before you go - did you know that Pechanga pays out 98% of their earnings! (Um, for those in the back, that means they pay you the most. For reference, Vegas pays about 75%) - did you know that a lot of the tribe works there, interns there, and participate participate - did you know that Pechanga is a group of Native American tribes that we're pushed there from the coast? - did you know that they used insight from Disney folks to build the resort for input on layout and sorts? - take a look at the awesome historical content they have there, it's really beautiful and brought in by families or donated by museums and collectors to the rightful tribes. - pro tip, they have a convenience store and gas station south of the resort before you head out. Way more economical! - did you know that professional athlete teams practice and train there? They have such a variety of entertainment and gaming there, just truly enjoy it!
Diva R — Google review
I love it here. They have at least 14 bubble craps machines, and at least 6 crapless craps machines, which is my favorite game; compare that to Aria in Vegas which only has 3 on their floor. The service is better as well - the staff genuinely seems happy to be there and it reflects onto me as a guest. The rooms are a great value and very quiet. The restaurants are fantastic. I had my honeymoon here and we had the best time. The pool is wonderful! My only con is the waterslide drops into 3.5 feet of water and last time I rode it I hit my foot on the bottom and had a limp for about 3 weeks. Wish that was deeper.

I have seen many ads on this resort and went to have a weekend getaway. I stayed at the resort tower, the room is new or they maintain it very well. The casino has a lot of machines and tables for players. There are restaurants in the property that very convenient for your stay. I attended the tacos and tequila festival and it was so fun!! It’s nice to see so many vendors and try out new food.

I had a HORRID experience with Pechanga Hotel. I rent beach and baby equipment rental items. I deliver and pickup items such as strollers, carseats, cribs etc that parents rent when traveling with kids. On Friday Oct 17, I called the Pechanga front desk and asked to speak with the bell desk. I asked permission to leave an item for the customer and gave the customers name and dates. I was given a yes by the bell desk that day, that on Sat the 18, I had permission to leave the item for the customer. I believe the bell captain who gave the go ahead was Thomas. I showed up on Saturday and was immediately "greeted" by an old white very rotund male security guard outside, who must've had his cheerios pissed in, because he was insanely disrespectful when I tried to ask for help on where the proper place to temporarily park was. He ended up continuing to be curt with me and I had to go ask someone else for help because he clearly was too distraught to even do his job. I arrived at 11am on Saturday and spoke with the bellman who took the item for me and the item was delivered to the customers room. At this time on Sat, no one told me anything, and everything seemed to go smoothly. Fast forward to Sunday morning at 10am, the customer went to return the item to the front desk and was told that it's against their policy to hold any items because I'm a third party. They gave the customer no solution and refused to help them. The ladies I spoke to on the phone (I believe Bea and Sabrina were 2 of the bell desk workers and the bell captain working Sunday at 10am was also very unhelpful). I personally called and asked what they expected the customer to do with the item until I could arrive to pickup and they couldn't even come up with a solution. Here's the issue, I requested permission in advance and was told they allow it. That tells me that there is a great miscommmunication between their team and that I'm sure this isn't the first time a customer has had to deal with their negligence. It's appaling that they tried to blame the customer for something that was the bell desks own fault. This is a pathetic way to run business and I hope someone takes notice and fixes these issues. I will never recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.

Really nice experience last night here at Pechanga resort and casino. My buddy and I went to eat Kelsey's, had a great meal there. Then we went gambling and y'all can never complain when you win It was my first time here and certainly will not be the last time I come in. The better question, what took me so long?
Alexander B — Google review
When I’m in the area, I only stay at Pechanga. Rooms in the casino tower have been great. Clean clean clean! Hotel. I would give the hotel 5 stars if it was easier to self park and bring your luggage to the hotel, but the valet is cool and lets you park close in order to check in. No five stars because they wanted $100 to (maybe) have an early check in room. I guess if I were a high roller, maybe they would allow for early check in without a big cost; I know other casino- based hotels do the same thing- doesn’t mean I have to like it. LOL. . The food at the pool was marginal, but the pool area was clean and secure! I give the total experience 4.5 stars. Why stay anywhere else when you’re in the area??!! In my opinion, Pechanga has a better property layout than Morongo. Stay at Pechanga! Housekeeping great. Front desk hospitality was fine. Restaurants good, and lots of choices. Smoke-free casino, a big plus! They do have a smoking section on the upper level and behind glass doors, you never smell it.

Lovely Casino and great filtration of the air to keep it not smelling like cigarettes. Rooms are spacious with great amenities included in room. The beds are incredibly comfy. Plenty of food choices.

They have good stores. The general layout is not much that goes easily around, but still manageable. Because of location, near the shore, the weather is nice!

Awesome upscale shopping center in beautiful Carlsbad california. Perfect weather even on hot days, due to cool pacific ocean breezes. The mall is open air, ADA friendly and pet friendly. Every major brand is represented here. While it is not cheap, you can find everything under the sun. EXquisite dining options abound from ice cream vending and kettle corn to fast casual up to fine dining. Truly a paradise to behold. Highly recommended. Parking is tight however, so best to go off peak.

Pretty nice mall with good selection of outlet stores. As a surfer I particularly like to shop at O’Neil, Hurley and would always love to check out the cosmetic company store too. They have la mer in a 40% to 50% off regular priced items.

If you haven't been here for a while, you should go take a look around and explore all the different shops, either inside or outside. This place is AMAZING! The atmosphere, the customer service, the AMAZING chefs! I mean I can go on and on. I took my wife for our 10 year anniversary and wow they did not disappoint! Nicole was our waitress and she is just the best! So kind, professional and she recommended the wine, the truffle fries, the shrimp scampi linguine and the seared chicken and wow!!! All 4 recommendations were AMAZING!!! The food was INCREDIBLE and Nicole was the highlight of our night! We are taking my Mother for her birthday coming up! This place is hands down 5 STARS!!!!

Visited this winery with a party of 5 and had a wonderful time! We arrived around 3pm and it wasn’t too busy, nice relaxed vibe. The views were just amazing! It was really quiet, no noise from the road. We opted to getting a few bottles to drink vs. doing the tasting and that was a really nice experience. Both wines we chose (whites because it was super hot) were great and we stayed till they were closing. This place is just gorgeous, great wine, and great service. Would go again and would highly recommend to others in the area

We LOVE Leoness!!! Every single wine they make is so drinkable from the Cellar series to their Farmer’s selections! We recently were in and tasted two Zinfandels and both were delicious, different, but so good! We ALWAYS love the compilations! My favorite thing to do (after tasting in the tasting room with Vicki) is to sit on the lower patio and just enjoy the view!!!

We came in during the weekend and Heidi was amazing! She was very knowledgeable on the wine and answered all the questions that we had about the wine and also the membership. Her customer service is excellent! We’re excited to come back and hopefully see her again! Will be recommending to family and friends.

It also serves as a picturesque wedding venue with various options for ceremonies and receptions amidst the vibrant floral beauty.
Amazing place. Didn't actually "go there." Just stopped by the vantage point above it off the road close to Legoland in March 2025. Great selection of flowers in assorted colors. Perhaps next time I will pay you enter.

What a beautiful place! We went on a Friday and it wasn’t very crowded. It was just gorgeous! The flowers are so pretty and fresh! We went into the butterfly room and it was pretty magical until my one year old grandson had a butterfly land on his lip and he tried to eat it! Luckily no butterflies were injured! The sweet pea maze was fun, we actually got a little lost. Everyone seemed happy who was there and the people working there were very nice! We went earlier in the day and took about 90 minutes, by the time we left the sun came out and I was overdressed. We can’t wait to go again next year.

I’m giving The Flower Fields Garden four stars. The garden was beautiful with a stunning variety of flowers, and the presentation was lovely. 😊 The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which added to the pleasant experience. 🍦The on-site ice cream and cotton candy shops were a delightful touch, and the food options were nice as well. 😕However, the washrooms could have been cleaner, and the butterfly section was a bit overcrowded; I expected to see more butterflies. Overall, it was a good experience, and we enjoyed our visit.

The Carlsbad Flower Fields are a great place to visit, especially during peak bloom. Start early to beat the crowds and bring water, sun hats, or even an umbrella. There is a lot of walking and some dust from the parking lot, so be ready for that. The flowers are beautiful, but be mindful not to step into the fields so they stay protected. There is sometimes live music which adds a nice touch. The food options are not the best, mostly hot dogs and basic snacks, but they are edible if you are hungry. Lines can get long so patience is key. For kids, there is a fun scavenger hunt that takes them around the whole field. Afterward, you can stop by the Carlsbad Outlets nearby to do some shopping or grab ice cream. Overall, it is a great seasonal outing if you plan ahead.

My sister and I had a nice visit to see the May blooms at the Flower Fields in Carlsbad. We got there early, around opening time, on a Sunday. Parking was easy, there were a lot of spots available at that time. The flowers were beautiful and they even had a couple of small aviaries. We enjoyed seeing all the flowers in bloom, the swallows flying above the sweet pea maze, and the beautiful sculptures that were part of the Glass in Flight exhibit.

Awesome place and definitely worth a visit. My 3 year old daughter loved it!! Much more than just flowers. I drove by this place many times and my daughter always pointed to it, but I thought it was just walking around looking at flowers. I finally looked up the place online and seen it was much more than walking around looking at flowers. We slowly walked around, checked out most of the free activities, and enjoyed our day out. FYI, your shoes will get dirty, I wouldn’t wear some new kicks. You have a variety of food and drinks options, including some much needed coffee.

I’ve seen it from the freeway in the past, but I have never been here the experience in the history behind 125 year-old working farm with millions of beautiful flowers over 50 acres what an amazing experience and venue if I lived in California I would definitely consider a wedding or a shower or an anniversary party here. The staff was very friendly and informative. Absolutely beautiful phenomenal afternoon.

LEGOLAND California

Water & Amusement Parks
LEGOLAND California Resort is a vibrant destination in Carlsbad, California, just north of San Diego. The resort features a lively hotel with LEGO-themed quarters and amenities like dining, an outdoor pool, and complimentary breakfast. The hands-on theme park offers over 60 themed rides and interactive attractions for kids aged two to twelve. Additionally, the SEA LIFE Aquarium and LEGOLAND Water Park provide entertainment for the entire family.
We had such a great time. I feel its better than the zoo and maybe even Sea World. We'll at least for a 4 year old. The employees are really kind young kids, which gives me hope for the future. A young man named Juan even rode with my daughter, because we waited in line and it was just me and a 6 month old, so I wasn't able to go. He really made my daughter's day. That was so kind. The pizza, pasta and salad buffet was great. Had nice outdoor seating too. The Trick-or-Treating even was awesome. They gave out huge bags of candy that I saw all parents eating 😀. There are a ton of really neat parks with big slides and all sorts of fun stuff for them to climb on. A great way for parents to get a little rest in. We will definitely be back!!

We had such a great time at LEGOLAND! There are so many fun things to see and do — way more than I expected. The creativity behind all the LEGO designs and attractions is amazing, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. The aquarium is definitely worth visiting — it was one of my favorite parts of the day! There’s a great variety of animals and it’s really well done. However, the park really needs better maintenance. A lot of things were dusty, faded, or missing pieces, some water features weren’t working, and a few attractions were closed. It’s still a fun experience, but I’d love to come back when everything’s fully restored and running at 100%!

First time Vacation at Legoland! We had our 8, 7 and 3 year old and my in laws with their 3 year old. I would say that this theme park is definitely for under 10 unless your kids love more action/activities then it might not be for them. Let me say this...Lego masterpieces everywhere!!!!! Amazing how all was put together to show a little of everything. We started our Sunday with Sealife and then headed to the Brick or Treat event. Kids were dressed up and they were given small bags for candies. Now the candy stations (less than 10 stations) were in certain areas and at times a little confusing with everything that was going on. I feel like it would be nice and easier if candies were to be handed out in front of the rides but thats just me. There was no waiting times during our Sunday night. They were able to get into a few rides as well as enjoying the lego art. Monday visit was a bit more busy and humid. We waited almost 20-30 minutes for the roller coaster and the duplo train ride. Other rides were less than 10 minutes. Most rides that include parents with young children have a weight limit of 330 pounds for the seat. Luckily we were able to take turns and enjoy some rides with our boys. Like i had said previously the rides are definitely for younger kids and they only last maybe less than 2 minutes and have little to no motion. My two older boys enjoyed the roller coaster and the ride that goes up and down(its in my pictures). We did a few family group rides like the big boat ride that takes you along the lake, the duplo train, and the submarine ride. We also bought the 2 day cup and the popcorn bucket but unlike other theme parks, the freestyle machines were not everywhere so it was pointless and the popcorn bucket was only refillable at that kiosk from what we saw because we asked around a few places and those places had no popcorn. The one thing that I don't know how to take it as is at this lego car exhibit my brother in law took my boys to see the car and apparently as soon as they went in the male employee there told him- that there was nothing exciting to see and dont waste your time there and instead go on the rides- so whatever his intentions were we'll never know but my son loves hot wheels so he was interested in looking at that car. So now that I pointed out my experiences I want to say that we had fun, and a few meh moments and for us it was a one time thing. Staff was friendly in the park and hotel.

Title: Not Worth the Price — Disappointing Stay for $700 a Night I booked a fully themed “Friends” room at Legoland Hotel California to celebrate my grandchild’s birthday one November 1, 2025 for one Night. Honestly, for the $700 I paid for one night, it was not worth it. I hope this review helps anyone deciding whether to book here. The room was very small and felt extremely crowded. We were given one king bed, plus a bunk bed and a pull-out bed, which sounds great but left almost no space to move around. The furniture looked old-fashioned and worn out — some pieces were chipped, the wallpaper was scratched, and parts were even peeling off. Around 4 a.m., I tried turning on the TV, but it wasn’t working. The screen said to call the cable operator, so I contacted the front desk. They told me I had to wait until 7 a.m. for someone to come in and call the company. The room was generally clean, but it was clear that cleaning was only done on the surface — not in detail. I have asthma, and I could feel dust irritation right away. Also, please note: the photos you see online when booking are not what the rooms actually look like. The hotel’s biggest advantage is that it’s right next to the park, which is convenient, but honestly, you’re better off staying at one of the nearby hotels that offer more space and comfort — especially if you’re traveling with kids.

I had a great time at Legoland with my family! The park was full of color, creativity, and fun activities for everyone. My son absolutely loved it — from the Lego-themed rides to building his own creations, he didn’t stop smiling the whole day. The miniature Lego cities were amazing to see up close, and we all enjoyed exploring together. It was such a wonderful family day out, and we’re already talking about going back!

I used to work at Legoland so visiting as a customer was a little unreal. It's definitly more fun as a customer. Almost all the rides have changed and the ones still there have new names. I don't know why they changed storytale brooks but kept the boats and the beanstalk, but it made it feel like a cookie I unlocked. Didn't care for the new name, fairytale was better, more catchy. I wish the trouble bus ride line had more shade. There is literally shade surrounding the lines and it would be so easy to put a shade screen to cover the middle spot. Having a kids build area in the middle is a nice touch. Build and test is crazy different, but I like it more. No more having to deal with checking tires in and out. Mindstorms is gone which was really sad - programming robots used to be my favorite thing at the park. My kid really enjoys the water park. I wish they had a swim pool that wasn't the lazy river that was shallow enough for little kids and deep enough for adults. They have something close by the slide but it's slightly too shallow for full adult comfort. Employees were friendly and professional as standard - Lego employees who aren't awesome get fired pretty quickly. Lego has pretty high standards for a minimum wage no top job. All in all we had a great time, the kids love going and it does feel worth the price for the year pass.

I love Legoland! This time of year they are doing construction on the other side of the park. The Lego movie ride is epic and entertaining! I forgot to mention the Big Store is currently closed for remodeling so they have a temporary store for some of the lego sets.

We came here mid-day on a Monday October 6, 2025. Legoland is located in sunny Carlsbad, California. There is a very big parking area and rates start from $36.00 for regular all day parking. There is even vallet parking which will cost you a pretty penny. When we arrived the lady at the front counter was informative, friendly and professional. Buy your tickets online if possible. It's way cheaper than paying at the ticket counter. Once we got through the entrance, we noticed the park is clean and well kept. The Legoland park is big. Lots to see and do. As it is October the theme park has a bunch of Halloween decorations up currently. The park is attached to the hotel resort. A single night in a hotel room will run you upwards of $300.00 or more. The rooms are based on themes. My family and I made our first stop at the Pizza and Pasta buffet having skipped breakfast and snacks and drove for over an hour on the I 5. It cost $76 for a family of three. The pizza and pasta are bottomless as well as the soda pop. After lunch we set out to see the sights. I knew the park was big but I wasn't aware how massive and spread out the property really is. I have including a pic of the park's map in this review. Too many places to name. The boat ride around miniature land is amazing and I totally recommend checking out Legoland Movie World and taking a ride on Emmet's Flying Adventure. It's basically a large screen simulator with immersive features such as spraying mist and drizzle as you and your family fly through the clouds. I would recommend coming early so you can make the most of this magical adventure. 5 stars 💫💫💫💫💫Enjoy!

South Carlsbad State Beach is a popular destination for locals and tourists, offering a variety of outdoor activities such as swimming, surfing, diving, fishing, and picnicking. The beach features free parking, easy access to the shoreline, clean facilities, and stunning cliffside views. With nearly five miles of coastline, it's an ideal spot for camping at the south end or enjoying paved jogging paths along the water.
Camped here for a night in one of the “premium sites”. It was flat enough for easy sleeping. Clean camp site, well organized campgrounds and staff was pretty nice at check in. The views were fantastic, and well worth paying for an oceanfront spot IF you are lucky enough to land one. I could easily see staying here comfortably for a week.

Beach is beautiful, but over priced, lack of maintenance, beach look out point was closed because of much needed repair. The Money the state is making on this campground and for the repairs it needed is a shame.. the biggest complaint I have is the noisy noisy highway ... All hours of the day and a at night, motorcycles blasting up and down the highway......

Just finished our stay there and I have to say this might be my new favorite state beach. We've stayed at one of the state beaches every year for about 20 years. Pros: sites are well maintained, bathrooms and showers are VERY clean, the beach itself is great, not a lot of rocks on the beach or excessive seaweed when we were there. The squirrels weren't crazy and the bugs weren't bad either. Though we did find one Jerusalem cricket. If you don't know what that is, don't Google it, you'll have nightmares but they are fairly harmless. The site is close to Costco and lots of cute touristy shops. Cons: the beach itself is NOT handicap accessible. The only access is by a nearly 3 story high, switchback stair case. It makes bringing chairs and umbrellas down and up a really big pain. I don't have a great option for making it more accessible but it is an inconvenience. I do wish there were bathrooms close to the stairs entrance so you're not huffing and puffing all the way up the stairs, just to have to walk another 10 minutes to get to the bathroom. My only other con is that the website says each site should fit 3 cars. Our site definitely could not have fit 3 cars worth of people because it was 1/2 taken over by a large bush. If we hadn't booked additional sites our group would not have fit. It is a very busy beach so we likely would not have been able to secure another site for the week. All in all we had a great time and I believe this will be our beach of choice for next year. We will definitely be planning things a little differently for next time.

Our family has been camping there 35+ years. I wish the camp store still carried merchandise with the South Carlsbad State Beach logo instead of the beach store

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, located within the city limits of San Diego, is a breathtaking 2,000-acre coastal wilderness. It offers a diverse landscape with rare Torrey pine trees, chaparral plant communities, untouched beaches, and protected tidal zones. The reserve is perfect for hiking and wildlife enthusiasts who can explore oceanside trails while spotting occasional dolphins or bobcats.
Came to Torrey Pines with friends for an easy, scenic hike — and it was absolutely worth it. The trails are well-maintained and manageable, making it a great spot for all fitness levels. The ocean views along the cliffs are stunning, and the overall scenery is incredibly picturesque. Whether you’re looking to get some fresh air, take in coastal views, or snap a few great photos, Torrey Pines delivers. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and want a peaceful outdoor experience without a strenuous trek. Pro tip: For an easier hike, find parking at the top of the hill.

This hike was amazing! 🌊 The entry fee was $20, and we drove all the way up to the top parking lot to start the West Overlook Trail (about 3 miles). The beginning was mostly downhill with incredible ocean views and cool lookout spots. The way back is uphill, so it’s definitely a workout—but worth it. I highly recommend wearing good shoes and bringing plenty of water, especially if you’re hiking midday.

Breathtakingly beautiful and serene! The mountains on one side and the ocean on the other side makes it even more scenic. So many beautiful trails leading to the peaks where you can watch the sunset or sunrise in the most spectacular views. I loved going here and will come back again and again! Hands down 5 star!

Beautiful beach, lot of trails - easy to moderate. Great views. I ended up doing many easy ones just for the views. Some trails can get very crowded and you may not enjoy the experience. Best solution is to go at your own pace and let the stream of people pass!! My best decision was to walk back along the beach after completing the trails. That was more adventurous and thrilling!!

Came here on a Friday afternoon late September. $20 day use fee. Did my hikes from the parking lot across the road from the visitor center. Good amount of parking. I could see it being an issue on really busy days. Porta potties there with hand washing stations. Pretty clean porta potties that didnt smell too bad. Decently warm day but there was a breeze most of the time making it pleasant most of the time. Hiked to Red Butte, Razor Point, Yuma Overlook, and the beach. Took a bit more than an hour including meditation and picture time. Downhill mostly to beach then back uphill to parking lot. Mostly gentle. Nothing too crazy. I am a middle aged guy that sits at a computer working everyday for most of the day and have some mild asthma and still did just fine. Amazing stuff. Although there were plenty of people there, there were still quiet times to enjoy the ambiance and sounds and meditate. Scenery is unreal, and the trails are well marked. Pictures I attach do speak a thousand words and display the incredible scenery. Got my beloved souvenir patch and postcards at the VC, which has no bathrooms or water for water bottle. Highly recommended. I posted lots of pics because this place deserves it.

A stunning place to hike in San Diego! You’ll see animals, geology, gorgeous ocean views, and our famous Torrey Pines. With parking lots both at beach level and on the cliffs, there are many options to start your hikes. There are numerous trails which intersect, so you can meander and never get lost. Whether you want an easy walk or a challenging hillside hike, you’ll find one here. This is a state park and admission at the time of this review was $20 per car. You can park on Torrey Pines Road for free if you can find a spot and walk in. We visited on a Sunday and arrived around 12 o’clock, so it was busy there was still still parking available. When we left at 1:30 it was much emptier, so mornings are definitely the busier time to go. I HIGHLY recommend Torrey pines for sightseeing and hiking. It’s the epitome of natural San Diego!

This is a must-do in San Diego. As a local, it has the most beautiful views and great hikes. For cyclists, going up Torrey Pines is a right of passage. Not for the faint of heart. Parking can be a bit challenging during the summer but it’s totally worth it. The best sunsets in San San Diego. Bring a picnic or a burrito from Roberto’s which is right around the corner and enjoy the nature!

Perched atop the breathtaking coastal cliffs of La Jolla, the Torrey Pines Gliderport is a renowned destination for paragliding and hang gliding enthusiasts. Offering sweeping vistas of the Pacific Ocean, rugged cliffs, and the Torrey Pines coastline, this site provides an exhilarating experience for thrill-seekers and nature lovers alike. Visitors can take to the skies for tandem or solo flights, or simply soak in the stunning surroundings while enjoying refreshments at the on-site cafe.
Stunningl! It's a must whether you're visiting or living in California. It's still free to access this natural and stunningly beautiful area. There's a cafe/restaurant if you want to get a bite and relax or bring a picnic and beach chairs. Binoculars and CAMERAS. Sensible shoes as terrain is rough and slippery (if you want to walk around or hike) - I was terrified to see a few visitors in heels and clearly not prepared. Listen to the whoosh and watch the wonder of the hang gliders. Or, just soak in the peace of the scenery. Parking was plentiful, but I wasn't there on a weekend, nor was there any evidence of a special event. Enjoy this gorgeous area. Marvel.

World class para gliding and hand gliding center. Amazing scenic beauty of stiff uneven cliffs and beach. Restaurants and Bar are available. Nice tourist spot. Almost crowded during sun set time. Enjoyed sun set at this beautiful point

Torrey Pines Gliderport in San Diego is a world-famous aviation site perched atop the scenic cliffs of La Jolla, offering breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Known as one of the best coastal soaring locations in the world, it attracts hang gliders, paragliders, and remote-control model sailplane enthusiasts year-round. The site has a rich history dating back to the early 1900s, when aviation pioneers first tested gliders there. Today, visitors can watch colorful paragliders take off and glide effortlessly over the ocean or even take tandem flights with certified instructors. With its combination of adventure, history, and stunning coastal beauty, Torrey Pines Gliderport is a must-visit destination for thrill-seekers and sightseers alike.

Absolutely amazing experience! I was paired up with a very experienced and fun pilot, Alex. He made me feel completely comfortable and safe. But he did some tricks and let me take over for a few minutes as well. The view and the feeling of soaring with the birds is hard to describe. Try it, you won't be disappointed. Do call to check the winds or go early and sign up then hike around the area and come back when you see gliders going up. Brought my gopro and got great video. But they also will take pics of you. Tuesday and Thursday if you pay cash you get those free.

Great walking trails. Loved this. Also access to the beach via stairs. It's a long walk down. Beautiful homes on the cliffs. It's not a difficult hike up and down, but a lot of fun.

Visited this spot to watch the hang gliders and hike the dirt paths. We followed the winding dirt path down to Black’s Beach where we walked along the water averting our eyes from the nude sunbathers. If you aren’t aware, the nudity at Black’s Beach will catch you by surprise. Everyone was minding their own business though, so it was no big deal. The hike back up the cliff was exhausting with the many stairs and steep incline. We stopped by the cafe for some lemonade and then rested on the upper deck while the hang gliders came and went. Watching the whole process over and over made it look easy and very safe. Everyone seemed to be having a wonderful time. The bathrooms were closed when we visited, but there were portapotties available. Mid-day on a Tuesday, the parking lot was pretty full, but I was able to find a spot close to the entrance. I don’t recommend visiting right after a car wash because the parking lot is very dusty and bumpy. The flights are $200-$275 per person for a 20 minute ride and I believe they offer free photographs on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Otherwise, you have to pay for the photos they take. Might have to return soon to check “hang gliding” off of my bucket list!

The glider port is a friendly place. I'll be at a little difficult to navigate If it's your first time. Nothing beats the views where you get a up close experience with the pairagliders landing and taking off. Good food and libations can be found as well. There's plenty of trails along the cliffs around the Gliderport.

Harrah's Resort Southern California - A Caesars Rewards Destination

Resort hotel
Casinos & Gambling
Harrah's Resort Southern California offers a variety of accommodations, from refined suites to laid-back rooms. The resort features a swim-up bar, a beauty spa, and multiple dining options. It is well-equipped with activities for both adults and children, including a separate pool area for adults. The casino is clean and spacious, while the rooms are comfortable though some may benefit from updates. The pool area is highlighted as a great spot to relax with daybed or cabana reservations recommended.
Love a good stay-cation??? Then this is your place! The pool is a great place to hang out on a nice sunny day. The casino isn't too big so you won't get lost! The staff is friendly and the hotels rooms are nice and comfy. And you can't beat Hell's Kitchen for a tasty dinner and fun dining experience. Highly recommend Harrahs!

Went there for a wedding. Unfortunately the party did not put major details of where the wedding itself is being held so I had to roam around the casino to find it. I attempted to ask several employees where the wedding venue was and not one of them could give me any direction as to where we should be going other than follow the lighted sign that says event area. It's unfortunate that employees don't quite know where things are where they work. The wedding hall was beautiful with a nice size room. Could easily hold 100 people comfortably. The room of which we had the reception in was called the Bordeaux room. They had it set up beautifully. The food was catered by the hotel and absolutely delicious.

My girlfriend and I had never been to Harrah's before. It was a beautiful day, so we decided to get a cabana and spend the day at the pool. Everything was great. Our pool server, Araceli, did a great job up until the bill arrived. Our bill totaled $69.00 but when the bill was presented it was $82.80. I took a harder look at the bill and saw that our server had added on a 20% tip bringing the $69.00 bill to $82.80. I also noticed that the pool will add a service charge of 20% to parties with 6 or more guests. Well, it was just the 2 of us. So what is happening is the check is presented with a tip already included and with the intention of adding another tip to the draft. This is a common form of theft in restaurants. I called the food and beverage manager 2 weeks ago to inform them of this. I was told it would take 24-48 hours before someone got back to me. It has been two very long weeks with no phone call back. I can only determine that Harrah's doesn't care about fraud being committed by their staff, and getting back to me? Keep your eyes open.

Had a nice staycation at Harrah’s with my wife a couple weeks back during the heatwave. The pool was fun and we spent almost half a day there. We got in very early and on a weekday so it wasn’t busy at all. The casinos were good, although one did end up eating out money before we ever got to play. The attendant was reluctant to return or cash but did so any way. Would definitely return.

We had a great stay at Harrah's this weekend. The front desk attendant Nolan was super helpful and friendly it's the 3rd time he has been the one to help us and it always goes so smoothly! Also this time we needed a few things from housekeeping and Alicia who was working the 4th floor in the dive tower was super warm and friendly and immediately got us everything we needed!!! The lazy river was nice because we had our young girls with us only thing there is I wish it had been a little warmer. My husband watched the girls while I did a little gambleing had a great time the alot selection seemed better this visit then some prior, and also was helped out on the floor by Elidia who was right there to help me out with a smile....the whole experience was an absolute pleasure! From start to finish. Clean room, friendly staff, nice pool and fun games what more could you ask for.

We got a cabana at the lazy river to celebrate some big achievements and while the wait staff was nice, the river itself was FREEZING. Apparently the heater broke and they didn’t bother telling anyone until it was too late. We drove an hour to get there and the kids would’ve been disappointed. So we sucked it up and froze. Not wanting to be a Karen, I didn’t say anything, so not sure if they would’ve done anything for us. It was a very disappointing experience overall. The only benefit was that because it was so cold, it wasn’t busy. I’d rather have enjoyed warm water though. The food and drinks were ok. Nothing to rave about and nothing to complain about (it was pricey, but you’ve gotta expect that at this point).

This resort has its pros and cons. Average hotel and casino. Complimentary room was large and spacious but lacked amenities. No coffee, no complimentary water. Restaurant options are great but overpriced. Spa was below average and overpriced. Location is hard to get to. Pool and lazy river and outdoor bar are great. Smokey casino with table games that are below average (especially blackjack) compared to other casinos Iv been to with more relaxed rules and table minimums. Likely won’t return.

Our favorite SoCal casino resort. Great pool with lazy river. The restaurant has very good Mexican food, chips and salsa are tasty. Very nice spa on site and gym with modern equipment on the second floor. Get a wellness room for in room yoga accessories. The onsite brewery makes some tasty brews with DJ and live music.

Palomar Observatory

Observatory
Museums
Observatory operated by California Institute of Technology known for the 200-inch Hale Telescope.
This is a beautiful observatory, and, at least when we went, it didn't appear to be one that is visited often. The drive up was amazing, and I can completely understand why people with high-performance sports cars might desire to visit. However, it was extremely foggy on our way up, so we couldn't test the performance of our rental...SUV. we essentially had the place to ourselves, and we made the most of it. We spent a lot of time reading through all of the exhibits. It was rather chilly as we went in March, and it was overcast, but we enjoyed the trip nonetheless.

Disappointed !!! Drove a few thousands kilometers to get here to see a place I've wanted to visit since i was kid. Saw it was closed on Saturday, online. Checked again for Sunday and all appeared normal hours. Drove up to only find it CLOSED. No notice on line no signs on thr road. My one chance and missed it. Disappointed.....

Driving back to Del Mar after my many sleep-outs in Anza-Borrego (over many years), this seemed like the most opportune time to visit the Observatory. If it were not for the motorbike/HP-automobile "blast-the-windy-corners" crowd, the drive-up would have been idyllic. It was just I, a "Father-Daughter" pair, an Odd-Couple, and a random motorbike rider (resplendent in his protective garb). I (basically) had free-reign of the entire Property :) The sequoias at the Visitors Center (planted c.1945, I believe) are 30m tall, and 230cm diameter DBH... It was a perfect day to be visiting. If it were not that the walk-able Observatory doors and the observatory Telescope Doors were not directly aligned (I measured a ~7deg offset), this experience might have smelled like Heaven ;)

What an experience to be able to witness astronomy history ! A lovely drive up to this beautiful observatory! Peaceful and relaxing, lots of history and great views!

This was such a great observatory to visit. I went here on a field trip with my school, and it was only $5 a ticket for a one hour tour. The gift shop was pretty small but had a lot of great options. I got a super cool glow-in-the-dark constellation shirt, along with some constellation deck cards, a postcard, and some stickers! The tour guide was super nice and informative, giving a great history lesson on the observatory and its contributions. I would’ve loved to be able to look through the telescope, but it is a research telescope, so I get why no one was able to. I would suggest bringing a jacket with you if you go anytime besides the summer, because the observatory itself was pretty chilly. The surrounding plants outside the observatory were also pretty cool, and overall this was a great experience! I’d definitely recommend this as a quick weekend trip.

In about 07-08 I went here with my grandparents. I’m from Oregon and my grandparents are from San Diego so every summer we did something interesting while I was visiting. So my grandparents decided to go check out this observatory. The day we went yall were actually closed due to a fundraiser dinner/gala sort of thing. I, being 9 years of age, was understandably super upset. All I wanted to do was see this massive telescope that saw the stars and learn about our solar system. So we just hiked around a bit and saw the nature views instead. Later that month, my grandpa had sent an email asking to see if there wasn’t a better time to come up again because his granddaughter would love to try again. Instead they sent him a massive package & apology to give to me, full of poster sized pictures of constellations and nebulas taken from the Hubble telescope, a brochure of the observatory, fun facts, a full newspaper of the observatory and a photo of the creator of the Palomar Telescope. Whoever the manager was or whoever read that email, you seriously changed my life. I will forever remember getting this package in the mail. It’s people and places like this that make kids and grandparents feel like they can wonder without boundaries. Thank you!!

Such a wonderful visit here! John, (the janitor), greeted us and stayed and answered numerous questions, provided tons of information and ensured our visit was absolutely perfect! Hard to imagine why John isn't working in PR or in another area. He was that good and made our visit very special! Only negative comment concerns the challenging hike up from the parking lot and stairs needed for visitors. Wheelchair-bound visitors may find it difficult or impossible to visit inside the dome, except the museum which does have a ramp and restroom facilities for ADA visitors. They set aside two times per day for elevator use, if an employee is available. Absolutely a must visit!

Orfila Vineyards and Winery is a charming boutique winery nestled in the picturesque San Pasqual Valley of Escondido. Situated on a 70-acre estate, this family-friendly vineyard produces award-winning wines using French and Italian varietals. Visitors can enjoy tastings of six different wines for $15, which includes a logo glass to take home.
My husband and I had such an amazing experience at this winery. We tasted so many delicious wine varieties and we even bought some to take home for ourselves. The prices were reasonable and everything is locally grown and made right there. This was our second time visiting, but it's been many years. The views are incredible and you can choose seating, order food and just enjoy so many delicious varieties of wine that really hits the taste, buds and senses.

My husband and I have been loyal OWL members at this winery for many years. It's long been a hidden gem in Escondido--boasting stunning views, a welcoming ambience, and a team that once treated us like family. A few months ago, we stopped by for our quarterly wine pickup. We ordered a glass and began to relax, until an unfortunate interaction with a staff member left me feeling singled out and diminished the enjoyment of our visit. More recently, we returned hoping for a better experience, but things quickly took a turn. Upon arrival, the manager promptly instructed us to vacate the east-facing seats, explaining the those are spots are now reserved exclusively for guests with reservations. His tone was unapologetic and dismissive, leaving us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. This winery was once known for its genuine hospitality and family-friendly spirit under previous ownership/management. Sadly, it now feels more commercialized, and long-time OWL members appear to be an afterthought. We've since made the decision to cancel our membership and join a winery where we feel truly valued and appreciated.

Live music in Friday and pizza from Amalfi served. We ordered a bottle of red and enjoyed the music and view from outdoor patio seating. It was busy but had good turnover around so we didnt have to wait long for table. Very enjoyable and relaxing time. The pizza and red we had was delicious too!

The winery has officially turned around, since the new ownership has been in charge. I popped in as a member, and every single time it’s been pleasant, warm and inviting. The wine is delicious, the food from Amalfi is fantastic (get the pizza or meatballs). Sarah, whomever she is ROCKS! She is attentive so sweet, customer-focused and the crew just wants us members to have fun. Go check it out, and tonight they had a DJ which was awesome.

Stacey and Joshua were amazing!! What an exceptional winery!! We felt so welcomed by the lovely staff at Orfila Vineyards & Winery, and the wine tasting was an absolute blast! We had lunch from the food truck which was super delish, and purchased 4 bottles of wonderful wine before we left. We also had fun plying a game of Cornhole while enjoying the gorgeous view. We cannot wait to come back next year!

When you first arrive, this place seems like a cute vineyard. We ordered food, had our tasting wine, and found a cute place on the lawn. It quickly turned to an unpleasant experience. All we could smell was the bathroom outhouse. We got the food: pizza, meatballs, and a salad. One of the worst pizzas and meatballs we have ever had. Seemed like it was a step above lunchables. The cheese wasn't a gooey, hot consistency and the meatballs were bland. Throughout the whole time we could only smell the foul bathroom smell and ended up leaving early due to the bad experience. Wine was ok, but not worth the bad food and smell.

We have been members here for several years. We had cancelled our membership for the winter months, but then they had a membership drive, so we reactivated our membership. It has new owners; Amalfi now owns the vineyard/winery. We get 10 glasses of wine per month per membership. We often order food at the Amalfi mobile kitchen. It is delicious. We meet friends or go solo. The mobile kitchen has a varied menu, and the service is speedy. I do miss the live music, especially Jimmy and Enrique, and Fercho.

This review is just for the food truck, Amalfi. The claim that they are part of the Amalfi pizza restaurant chain but oh man oh man, the frozen pizza from the grocery store is 100 times better. It is terrible, don't waist a penny. You are better off w the chips and the crackers, at least they come without the attitude.

The winery produces a variety of wines including Syrahs, Merlots, Chablis, Albarino, and Burgundy.
This charming winery, tucked away in a residential area of Escondido, truly felt like stepping into a secret haven. The old-town ambiance was charming, and the favorable comments we read online were spot on. The wine was exceptional, and the food was equally delicious. We were delighted by the complimentary chocolate pairings, a thoughtful touch. We tried their flights and went to the chocolate shop. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back. This is the kind of place where you could easily unwind & be relaxed, 😍. We're already planning our return. Btw, we visited on latte Dec.

Bernardo winery is a wonderful place to spend the day. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, and it feels like a small village. The tasting room looks rustic, it is always cool inside, the staff if very friendly and knowledgeable. There i a gelato/sweet shoo, an Italian eatery, a coffee shop and various gift shops, too. The food from the Italian kitchen is outstanding; we especially loved the mussels and the Arancini.

We love the Bernardo Winery! It is one of our favorite places to relax for brunch or an early dinner. The ambience is unmatched. We’ve long since grown out of our college bar/party phase, so a visit here this is a fantastic way to decompress after a long week or to bring family and friends when they come into town. The food is excellent! The portion size for the fries is fantastic. I love to get a salad plus a side of fries to share with whoever I’m with, and maybe a pizza. The wine pours for the tastings are generous. The only thing I’ve ordered and not been crazy about was the bruschetta because it had olives and pistachio which I wasn’t a huge fan of. The best part about our visits to the Bernardo winery are walking around the shops after. It is incredibly romantic too! Especially during sunset. At night, there are outdoor heaters that make it very cozy too. If I could leave 10 stars I would!

I really wish they would care about the customer experience here. It's such a beautiful winery, in an ideal location. I've personally been visiting for the last 15 years. Many additions have happened throughout that time but the dismissiveness of their employees continues. Specifically the employees in the tasting room, it seems as they are being forced to work there with zero enjoyment. That along with their food ordering system, table hunting, fetching your beverage from a separate building from someone who looks annoyed cannot be the final system - its a shame.

Delightful experience here with wife and family. We did some of the hands on experience which included close ups with the koala and also feeding another animal (zebra and also the one in our photo). While we are not zoologist, the animals did seem relatively comfortable and their enclosure decently large. We loved how clean the facilities were and readily available restrooms for those post meal needs. Walking around the whole place def takes a few hours and we love the themed atmosphere as well. Would def recommend people come here and also to the zoo. Both are world leaders in zoo keeping and a great place to see animals you may not see elsewhere.

This is always a fantastic experience for kids, but the adults enjoyed it just as much. Ideally, go take the bus tour first thing when you get there. It gives you a good overview of the park, and you'll beat the crowds the rest of the day. The avian show was very entertaining and we of course learned a lot of fascinating info on the various birds and other bonus animals they brought out.

Brilliant park, expansive highly suggest getting the open air shuttle through the safari plains, getting close enough to see animals wandering or resting and great photo opportunities. Only complaint is “zoo radio” near the food which is too loud and not in keeping with a nature outdoor experience. Loved the tiger exhibit sounds! Can’t wait to see the new elephant exhibit later this year!

The San Diego zoo Safari Park. 15500 San Pascual Valley road in Escondido California. We are season ticket holders and pay $280.00 per year for two of us with free parking included. It is a magical place to view wildlife in their natural habitat. They also have lots of birds, flowers and plants. If you are up to it the paths are abundant and easy to walk. If not there is a tram which is included in the 76.00 each adult pays for a day pass. The tram is about a 40 minute adventure through the natural savanna reserve. The park is all handicapped accessible and they offer rental carts to ride around the paths inside. Parking is $17 dollars per carload. I have included some of our pictures from past visits. If Escondido is to far for you the San Diego Zoo near downtown is awesome at the same above listed prices. Membership includes two free passes you can use anytime.

What an excellent experience! So much fun! Took the deluxe Safari, which was well worth the additional cost even if you only pay for entrance into the park you will thoroughly enjoy yourself as there is so much to see and do. The animals are still abundant and the foliage is gorgeous!! We made it a day trip from Palm Springs and it was well worth the effort!

A wonderful park to visit! Animals in a natural environment, beautiful grounds full of interesting flora and fauna. We walked for three miles, many inclines so you will get some exercise! Plenty of benches though to take rests as needed. They offer hot air balloon rides and safari tours for an extra fee.

We had such a great experience today at the San Diego Safari Park! I want to give a special shout-out to Hailey and Clayton from the photo booth / photo print area. They were both incredibly friendly, patient, and genuinely helpful. They didn’t just take the standard photos — they actually came over to suggest better spots, better angles, and helped us capture something more meaningful. You could tell they really care about what they do. When it came time to choose and print the photos, they were just as kind and supportive, making the whole process super smooth. Because of them, we didn’t just leave with photos — we left with really special memories. Thank you both so much! 😊

What a wonderful place! It delivered on everything it was supposed to be. A great vibe and a fun place for kids. Here are some tips that can be helpful when you’re going with kids (we had 2 under 2) •bring extra water and ur own bottle (there were barely places to refill and water bottles were $$$) •bring a double stroller! •it was VERY hot when we went and there’s not much shaded areas and LOTS of walking so bring a stroller fan, hats, sunscreen •the $20 extra fee for the priority pass for the tram is worth it if you have kids bc the line was 50 minutes long •download the safari app - it has a live feature on your phone that helps you plan the day and directions to sites. So much better than walking around aimlessly! We saw all the animals and went on the Africa tram. But my highlights were: *elephant viewing inside the herb garden (you have to go in the herb garden to see them. It’s like a hidden hideaway right next to the campground area) *the atrium. These were so beautiful and calming. Highly rec This place is HUGE. Lots of walking and hills. So wear comfy shoes and clothes and bring all the things you need. Enjoy!!

La Jolla Zip Zoom Ziplines

Tours
Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
Our first time zip lining at La Jolla Zip Zoom and it was absolutely amazing! The entire experience was breathtaking — from the scenic drive in, to the stunning views throughout the course. The service was top-tier, and the staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and genuinely sweet. A special shoutout to the four all-stars who made our day unforgettable: Quinn, Ivan, Elijah, and Uriel. These guys were so kind, fun, and full of great energy — truly beautiful souls who made us feel safe, supported, and excited the whole time! We had such a great time as a family and we’re so grateful for the opportunity to experience this together. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an adventure with amazing views and even better people!

Awesome experience! The staff was kind, helpful and entertaining. Everything flows smoothly from the second you drive up. The views were incredible (my personal favorite was the 3rd zip line that brings you over the river and through the trees). I highly recommend getting out here for an adventure.

Unforgettable Zip Lining Adventure! Our zip lining experience was absolutely incredible from start to finish! The zip lines themselves were breathtaking — soaring over the trees with stunning views all around. Everything felt very well maintained and organized, and the whole experience had the perfect mix of adrenaline and fun. Huge thanks to Alan, Cory, Ray, and Joseph for an unforgettable day! From the moment we arrived, their energy and professionalism put us at ease. We’ll definitely be back and recommending this adventure to all our friends.

We had such a great experience! We were both a little nervous but they all made you feel safe and were very reassuring! Would definitely recommend! Aiden and Quinn were great! Thanks again for a fun day!

We had a great time zip lining here! So fun and the side by side zip lines are very cool. The guides were awesome and very helpful throughout the journey. Good Times!
Randal N — Google review
Had an amazing time! Really great activity to do with the family. There were 6 of us and we were guided by Aiden, Codey, and Leanna who all were personable and had great energy. The entire process is pretty smooth and they essentially did everything for us in terms of suiting us up, getting us on/off, and shuttling us around. The lines are in the mountains so they prepared us for the bumpy ride up and interacted with us frequently to make sure we were still feeling safe and comfortable. Even though I got a little more anxious as we reached the top, music was playing and once I was secured in for the first line, I felt safer than I did riding up. They explained every step thoroughly, answered our questions, and took their time. There are 3 unique lines, I highly recommend taking a look around, enjoying the view, and having fun with the guides! Definitely fulfilled my adrenaline rush. Super grateful to have been guided by these three, thank you!

My first time zipling was amazing! The guides were friendly and made us laugh. We had so much fun! I was pleasantly suprised there were other activities also available to experience. I highly recommend to anyone looking to zipline. I will definitely return again with family and friends.

Me and my sisters had the best time ziplining at La Jolla Indian Adventure Park! Our guides-- Corey, Ivan, & Quinn were fantastic. They were very helpful and knew what they were doing, but also made the experience so much fun! The ziplines themselves were great and each had such beautiful views. I definitely recommend La Jolla Zip Zoom, we would all love to do it again!

Sights & Landmarks
Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalá, founded in 1769, is the first Roman Catholic mission in California. It holds the title of 'Mother of the Missions' and is a significant landmark showcasing Spanish Colonial influence on Southern California's settlement. The mission's picturesque grounds are open for self-guided tours daily from 9:00 am to 4:45 pm.
The first californian mission founded by St. Junipero Serra. A wonderful and calm place, full of history. The Basilica is beautiful, the cell/house of the first friars is very interesting, convent and gardens are very nice. They also have a lovely museum and great souvenir shop. I'm so happy for visiting this place.
Robert T — Google review
As someone who grew up in California and remembers the whole missions projects and had a field trip to a mission it was great to return to one over a decade later. So here is what you should know: Ticket price: $8.00 (Tickets can be purchased in person) Restrooms: Yes they have restrooms and yes they are clean. Parking: There’s plenty, I’d say mostly because it’s hardly ever full (at least when I’ve gone) Staff is friendly, there’s a gift shop mostly with religious pieces but also things like postcards and such. Atmosphere is nice and peaceful regardless of whether you’re in the church, the garden, the museum, etc. If you like history, art, and spirituality then this place is perfect because it blends those things wonderfully. They have a lovely garden with sculptures, plenty of art, and much history to read about and witness for yourself.
Dalila S — Google review
A rustic but beautifully appointed Mission in the heart of Mission Valley. The main sanctuary is beautiful with brown, copper hues all around. The grounds around the church are full of information and immaculate. There's a lovely fountain in the middle of the grounds which brings the visitor a wonderful sense of serenity. No problem with parking; lovely place to walk.

Beautiful Mission! This is the first Mission in California. Lots of history and plenty of information. Self guided tour was free. We got a map in the gift shop. The Alter in the main Church was beautiful. The museum had some great artifacts and information. Definitely recommended if you are in the area.

Absolutely beautiful. I don't go to San Diego without at least visiting thus mission. I've been to mass here a number of times as well. Always a peaceful visit and plenty for History buffs as well

The history of this mission made the visit even more memorable. It didn't take much time to explore the property. I would recommend visiting the first mission of California.

Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve, located in Santee, California, is an award-winning park and campground featuring seven man-made lakes that offer a range of outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, camping, and picnics. The site is family-friendly with multiple playgrounds and a Sprayground for kids. Fully stocked lakes provide ample fishing opportunities while gazebos offer picturesque lakeside views. The campground offers 300 full hookup sites with amenities like free Wi-Fi and cable TV options.
Very nice location, only tip I would include is be sure to bring a broom and dustpan and some sanitary wipes as there is a lot of bird poop everywhere, we had to spend a fair bit of time cleaning the space prior to the event. This is no fault of the space or the team, the whole experience renting was easy and well facilitated.
Max G — Google review
Great area for family. However they don’t seem to keep up with the playgrounds. They are covered in spider webs. A quick power washing would help this. From the of it it has not been serviced in a while. I would think to prevent spider bites for kids they would. Also 3 big wasp nest in the bathroom. Looks like they haven’t been cleaned from critters as well.
Alexis S — Google review
Our family has been coming here for about 4 decades. It's a nice place to take a walk and let the kids ride bikes safely. Lots of parks and overall pretty clean. One thing I have noticed on our last few visits was that it is becoming more evident that people live here full time. I don't care about someone's living arrangements, but it's a bit strange when it starts looking like a swap meet with random kitchen appliances laying around while the rangers tidy up and rake patterns into the lot next door. Also, I've never noticed people smoking before in the camping section, but this last trip, there were several.

Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve is one of the true treasures of East County — a place where nature, recreation, and community come together. Beyond offering beautiful trails, fishing, camping, and family-friendly amenities, their team goes above and beyond to support the local community. Their volunteer work and behind-the-scenes help with the Santee Street Fair mean so much, and it's just one example of their ongoing commitment to making Santee a better place to live and play. We’re incredibly thankful for all they do!
SanteeStreetFair — Google review
We just go to Santee Lakes for picnics, and sometimes to just walk around. There is an entry fee to park inside, but you can also walk in if you park out on the street close to the entrance. On some weekends it's actually easier to park on the street for free than to look for parking in the lake parking areas, so we usually just stick to the street parking. It's nice here, the lakes look clean, grass is nice and well maintained, and the bathrooms are good. I enjoy coming here.

The man on duty driving the parks truck on Sunday was way too aggressive and driving like a crazy person. He needs to relax and realize families are here to enjoy the park. I hope he’s not armed, he seems unstable. This was Sunday 9/7/25, 3:30pm
Martin B — Google review
I've been to these lakes 5 times.. paid the fees to fish and never caught a single fish. I've come on the day after they "stocked" the lake.. or when they claim they stocked the lakes and not ever a nibble. There are way too much grass in the lake and not enough fish. I wonder if they even stock the lake when they say they do. I've fished lake 3, 4 and 5. I've done night fishing when they had it. I've tried all kinds of fishing styles. I might as well have drove up, thrown my money into the lake and gone home.

Last summer my grandkids wanted to try out fishing. I bought a pole for each grandkid and all I wanted to do was supervise and teach them how to fish. I did not have a fishing pole nor was I fishing. Why did I get charged an adult rate to fish, especially when lots of people sneak in without paying. Hmmm

Eagle Mining Co.

Mines
Eagle Mining Co. offers a captivating glimpse into the past, allowing visitors to step back in time and explore an authentic gold mine. Nestled just off Main Street, this historic site features hour-long tours that delve deep into the mine's tunnels, showcasing traditional mining techniques and the rich history of Julian. Guests can engage in hands-on activities like gold panning while learning about the daily lives of miners from the 1870s.
We had an incredible time touring at the Eagle Mine Co. Our tour guide John was a gold mine of information, pun intended. It was so cool to walk through the mines and hear about the working conditions in the 1870s. All the staff is very friendly and the gift shop has some great finds. Especially love how the tour is dog friendly, even in the mines! A great stop if you’re in Julian and fun for all ages. Highly recommend!
Jeff C — Google review
I was how cool this mine tour was! It was as if everything was left as it was at the end of the last shift. So much to see and experience as you walk through the main tunnel of the mine. There were several side shoots, shafts and chimenies to see along the way. It was nice and cool throughout the tunnel. I'm 6'4" and had to crouch walk most of the time, with a few places I could stand up straight. Afterwards, I got to practice panning with my own gold pan I recently purchased so I could test it out on real gold. The horse troughs where you pan are filled with sand and small chunks of real gold. There's so much gold in the troughs that you can get 5-10 30# mesh gold chunks in every pan. Unfortunately it's for training purposed only, so you have to throw it back. I highly recommend this place! I think it will exceed your expectations as it did mine!
Cliff K — Google review
Fun, informative experience. Original mining equipment is still here from the 1800’s. You will learn to mine for gold but you don’t get to keep what you find - and you will find some, just not anything big. You are led into the mine and learn how the miners did the work to find the gold and how to get up out of the mine. Our guide was informative and made it interesting.
Melinda W — Google review
This place was one of the strangest experience we have ever had! When we arrived we were showed where the restrooms were located (in a garage) and then we were told they were “short handed” so there would be no tour guide. We paid our fee and was told to go inside by ourselves. Luckily we were all able bodied because about halfway through there is a ladder you had to climb up to the next level. When we came out of the mine on the opposite side we wandered around aimlessly for a bit before ending up where we started. We attempted to pan for gold ourselves because we never saw any staff again. There was this older gentleman at the very beginning that did give us a 2 minute intro into mining but it was obvious he didn’t want to be there. It seems others had a great experience by reading the reviews. Maybe we just visited on the wrong day??
Little C — Google review
The tour guide was super smart and nice! He answered all our questions. For fifteen bucks each, we learned so much about mining and history. Plus, the memories are priceless!
Edilyn K — Google review
Highly recommend this experience if youre in the Julian area. You get a sneak peek at how miners used to live during the gold rush era around the 1800s. Our tour guide, John was very informative and had the patience to answer any and all questions from our large group.

Absolutely fantastic tour of a historic mine and another reason why we LOVE Julian. We have learned to stay a few days so much to do!
Jeff W — Google review
Excellent tour guide and knowledge of history, geology, and culture on the Julian mines/ gold rush. Pretty interesting educational experience and fun to pan for gold. However, on the particular day I went, there were simply way too many people and they admitted everyone despite the crowd. My tour into the mine had 33, yes 33 people in one group with one guide. Difficult to see or hear the guide due to distance and overall experience was less intimate and enjoyable. Don’t go on a Saturday, it’s mismanaged and greedy to not have reservations and overcrowd the tour.

Jamul Casino is a Native American casino located in Jamul, California, about 20 miles from downtown San Diego. Managed by Penn National Gaming, Inc., it offers a variety of table games and slot machines for guests to enjoy. The casino also features live music entertainment and several dining options, including a steakhouse with scenic rural views. Although there are no casinos within the city limits of San Diego due to state laws, Jamul Casino provides a convenient gambling option for residents and visitors alike.
I visited Jamul 23 today with a party of three for the dinner buffet, and we were very impressed. Everything was fresh and replenished right away, and the service was excellent. Raul, Andres, and Jonathan took great care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant has beautiful views and a welcoming vibe, even nicer than the Tony Gwynn buffet. Highly recommend! Extra thanks to Robert!

The first thing I noticed about this casino that bothered me is that it's a smoking casino. They don't just have a part of the casino that's for non-smokers or just for smokers. I can't stand the smell. Went to Tony gwynn's buffet for all you can eat seafood. It's pretty decent food at least most of it. Some of it is not so good. It's what you would expect at a buffet. I'm not overly impressed but I'm not disappointed. It's all right to go there once in a while, especially because my friend pays for it. I wouldn't spend $75 on a buffet for myself though.

Review of the new Jamul Spa: New resort spa at Jamul Casino. Many things to like about it, and some areas that can be improved. Good: New beautiful facility with lots of amenities. We tried everything; sauna, steam room, hot tub, massage chaise in lounge, terrace seating. All very nice and new. Bad: Co-ed hot tub, small outdoor terrace (only shade, no sun from 11:30AM - 4PM during our visit) no hooks to hang towels/robes near any of the amenities and spa guest do not have access to the hotel pool. We were told the pool is for hotel guests only. Our visit was within 2-3 weeks of them first opening but they still have some kinks to work out. The biggest issue was not having access to stairs to get to the spa. My friend has a phobia of confined spaces. She never takes the elevator. We spent 30 minutes trying to get approval to use the stairs. Per the Security Director, she could not use the stairs to go UP one floor to the spa but they would allow her to use the stairs to go DOWN one floor to the lobby. MAKES NO SENCE AT ALL. We considered cancelling appointments but worried we'd be charged a no show fee and she didn't want to ruin our day. She took the elevator but the incident put her in a bad place physically and emotionally, initially. We expected to enjoy a stress free day to reset and relax with a massage but because of the nonsensical issue with no access to stairs going up, it wasn't the best way to start our day. It took meds and some time for her to calm her nerves and the massage helped, too. We appreciated the concern and service from everyone in the spa and made the best of our day. The security issue is separate from the spa, but something to consider if going to this facility. In regards to the pool, even if they allowed spa guests to use, I don't know if stairs would have been available -- it's a rooftop pool.

I've had one of the best experiences here then one of the very worst - I was thrown of this casino for simply trying to watch a game of baccarat - they claimed that their policy is that Nobody is allowed watch any game that is reserved... I wanted to play because it looked like a either a really great shoe of cards were being dealt or there was MASSIVE CHEATING going on... I simply stood there for a few minutes just to watch as these 2 homeless looking old asian women that had reserved the table started to make grunting noises, as i waited and watched wanting to see more hands being dealt.. Anyways they stopped betting and the dealer stopped as they waited for me to go away... They didn't want anyone watching their silly game. I was patiently waiting for them to either bet or unreserve the table, instead they went to a female asian manager that came over demanding that i leave the area. It was insulting, rude and very obnoxious. By the way I have the highest card they have available, the Onyx card and they still treated me like absolute poop! I recommend that this and all casinos be shuttered for ever, they are in essence a plague of leeches. The security guard - Hasar #2604 was especially threatening and disrespectful. Save your money because nobody else will do it for you.... #jamul #jamulcasino #casino #barona #sycuan #viejas #sd #sandiego #gamingcommission #californiagamingcommission @jamulcasino.com Jamulcasino.com

Galleta Meadows is a unique desert sculpture park located along the Southern California S-3 highway in Borrego Springs. Created by artist Ricardo Breceda, the park features over 130 massive metal sculptures known as 'Sky Art.' These sculptures include creatures such as elephants, raptors, dinosaurs, mammoths, saber-toothed tigers, serpents, horses, and even a sloth.
Great sight seeing spot for the tourist or the local. Arrive by any vehicle you prefer. You won’t be disappointed. All visitors were respectful of everyone arriving and taking photos. That’s the vibe. Respect for the community. 🤙🏻☯️💜

Fantastic and free. Recommend all wheel drive in places so you don't get stuck in the sand. Some deep ruts, high clearance recommended also otherwise just park on the side of the road and walk in.

Sculpture in the Meadows run through Borrego Springs both North and South of the roundabout in town. You can drive up to many to get a close view and see the beautiful and detailed works of the artists. This is a must do in the area and worthwhile time spent viewing.

Nice metal sculptures in Borrego Springs, by the side of the road, and free to visit.
Martin C — Google review
Spectacular metal sculptures all over the place. We only visited 53 while more than 100 should be out there. Some Google Maps coordinates of certain sculptures are not correct. But that is not a real problem, because you will see most of them from a distance!
Rüdiger G — Google review
This huge outdoor art exhibit is fun to visit. In the meadow, there are no fence, no paved roads and no set trails. You can just roam around in your car and stopped anywhere to see these large metal creatures. You see scorpion vs a grasshopper at one end, T-Rex at the other, then a Chinese dragon spanning 350 feet across both sides of the Borrego Springs road. You can easily spend a day here if you want to see everything.

Viejas is a beautiful Casino. The chandeliers and lighting are exquisite. The rooms are beyond beautiful and the decor is priceless. They have many new slots I've never seen before with high end graphics. The only thing I found odd was that we were not allowed to use the refrigerator even though we had purchased the food at Viejas. But all and all a fantastic place. I highly recommend it. The snack shop has a lots of healthy food and is open all nite and is very reasonable. I found an interesting way to get up there rather than just taking 8 frwy. There's alot of side roads that offer beautiful scenery and no traffic at all.

A three sounds about right for this one. The staff is nice in all departments. The variety of slots are nice. The variety of table games isn't the great compared to others. Food is really good. Did have a problem with the pool at The Willow. I don't know how they would let someone bring glass candles to the pool. They had to shut down the pool and re drain it. I do recommend this location to other as long as an incident does happen like that again.........

We didn't stay at the hotel, we went for the ZZ Top concert. The only service we used was at the bar. Great service and a generous pour. The venue is nice under the stars but the folding chairs you sit on were not at all comfortable. They are zip tied together so you can't move them which makes sense, but the main issues are: The chairs are too close together, I was shoulder to shoulder with the guy next to me, not comfortable. The other issue with the seating is there is no center aisle. Our seats were in the middle so to get out, I would have go past about 22 people! Seriously, the rows had 45 chairs in the row and we were 23. Great seats for the concert and ZZ Top was amazing! They still got it. Loved the concert, venue, not so much.

The Viejas outlets are great because there's always plenty of parking, great selection of stores, there's a skating rink, coffee, chocolate, and food. I would rather go shopping for clothes here than any mall any day! I'm not sure what happened to the outlets. They used to be busy and full of stores. They still have some stores but nothing like it had before. I honestly won't waste my time on the outlets and head right to the casino instead. The casino is really nice and worth the trip. Just an additional note: during the holiday season they have an outdoor ice rink to skate at.

After visiting for the first time in the year 1999, we came back in 2024. Still very good for a stop in-between.

The California Wolf Center is a rural facility dedicated to the recovery and preservation of wild wolves. Visitors can enjoy tours and purchase souvenirs from their gift shop, though booking in advance is typically required. The center's focus on conservation work may justify its initially high cost for some visitors. The organization promotes education and conservancy efforts for this endangered species, making it a worthwhile destination for those interested in wildlife preservation.
What a cool experience. The volunteers are informative, friendly, and able to answer all questions. The wolves get close enough to where you can enjoy their presence. There is a fence for security. The tour guide will feed the wolves to get them to come close. Dress appropriately. Lots of dirt. It can get windy. Take water. Restrooms available

My friend and I did the enrichment tour on 8/8/25 and it was incredible. I went into the tour not really knowing what to expect except what was provided in the description on the website. The tour was way more than I thought it was. It was highly educational and informative. I learned so much about wolves and the conservation efforts. It was amazing to be able to see these wolves and learn more about them. I walked away with a much better understanding of these truly magnificent creatures. The guide did a phenomenal job of educating us and answering all of our questions. I highly recommending the enrichment tour and visiting the gift shop in Julian!

The California Wolf center was pretty nice and not too bad. No live wolf's in this place. They offer tours to their Wolf place. The staff was extremely nice and provided some great data about their Wolf projects. The center also had an amazing play area for kids, which my son loved. OK Bye

My mom & I did the enrichment tour this past Saturday & it was an incredible experience! The emphasis of the tour is definitely on education & awareness. Getting to see the wolves almost felt like a bonus to all the knowledge that was given to us. Tour group is also kept small so you can actually interact with your tour guide. Highly recommend! The gift shop in town is also a must visit before you leave the area! Great overall experience!

Wonderful experience at the California Wolf Center! We did the Enrichment Tour with our 3 kids (ages 1–6) and it was stroller-friendly, educational, and so fun. Nicole, our guide, was fantastic, passionate, funny, and super knowledgeable. Highly recommend for families and animal lovers!

Amazing to see how well they care for the wolves. We sent on a sunday and it was just my family of four and another family, so it was a small group and alot of great info. There’s just two places they take you to see a wolf here and there to limit interaction or exposure to people. Its somewhat limited as you dont walk around alot or see many wolves, but great for what it is.

Amazing experience!! Went here for a conservation tour and got to see the wolves lounging around, occasionally showing off for the guests, freaking out at flies (lol can’t remember if that was Thor or Durango), and chewing up some rabbit and various other treats. One of the coolest experiences I’ve had in my life. Our tour guide Alyx was awesome! She was the perfect combination of down to earth, informative, fun and engaging while being so knowledgeable. Will definitely be coming back and taking advantage of the annual membership! Thank you CWC staff!

My husband and I thought the tour of the Wolf Center was wonderful. Our guide Nicole was very knowledgeable and she was obviously very passionate about these animals. This is a well worth add-on if you're in the area of Julian to visit or enjoy nature. We learned a great deal about the Northwest Gray Wolves and Mexican Gray Wolves. We highly recommend!

Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is a massive wilderness area that boasts an abundance of hiking trails, wildflowers, trees, shrubs, and cacti. It's considered one of the richest natural-history museums in the nation and features stunning desert vistas that are unmatched in their privacy and beauty. Camping opportunities abound for those seeking a more secluded experience, with plenty of space to explore off the beaten path.
Amazing park, a little off the beaten path but beautiful and with some free camping options. If Joshua Tree is booked or you have a little extra time it’s worth a visit for sure. A nearby giant metal sculpture garden is whimsical!

A very well maintained sprawling state park with tons of beautiful trails and serene desert campsites and well maintained bathrooms and a gorgeous visitor center! Be aware that most if not all trails from what I can tell do not allow dogs, even on leashes

Really stunning area with lots to explore. We focused on the sculptures during our visit, spent hours but still didn't explore all! Will be back for sure.

This place is one of my favorite places in California because of the amazing hike into the canyon. I love the dinosaurs nearby and the town feels like it was frozen in time. Very much old California and the Wild West. Plus you have the mountains that are snowcapped in the winter about half an hour away and the beach 2 hours away. Beautiful place to explore the desert and see wild sheep (borregos) if you are lucky! 🐏

We had an amazing visit! We went early spring and several things were blooming. The stars were wonderful. The hiking was great. Especially the Palm Canyon trail! The oasis is amazing and some bighorn sheep came close to the trail. The welcome center is nice and the volunteers there are incredibly helpful. One of the naturalists (Ms. Bussey I think, sorry if that's wrong) helped us decided between two trail and her advice was so valuable.

Off roading is a family favorite! We go a few times a year and use the showers and restroom provided by the park and tent or trailer camp. There is nothing better than waking up to the smell of a 2 stroke and the sound of fun!

This is an incredible desert park and is a gift that keeps on giving. Plenty of off roading, primitive camping, a great visitor center and a genuinely welcoming town. The desert is beautiful 365 days a year but always pay attention to the weather and park rangers’ advice!

Huge area to spread out in, great hiking trails for all abilities, a few cool towns to shop and resupply...mostly great campers from all over the country. Camp grounds were loud with the "city folk" on the weekends but boondocking is better as long as we all respect the minimal rules. Thank you CA parks!
