The Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail offers a serene escape from street traffic, winding along the shoreline through sandy beaches, grasslands, and under Cypress trees. This multi-use path is perfect for biking or leisurely walks, with opportunities to spot hawks and owls in the area. The trail connects various scenic spots and attractions such as Half Moon Bay State Park's four beaches and The Ritz-Carlton.
Apart from the limited parking spaces, this hiking trail is absolutely fantastic. The trail passes through the Ritz-Carlton hotel, offering unbeatable views, and the expansive golf course is truly a sight to behold.

Easy trail along the coast with access points to the beach. Trail is filled with beautiful natives, and other flowers mostly yellow colored variety! Good for walks, runners etc. flat pathway takes through RV parking and has restrooms. Good for relaxed stroll out in the nature.

Very easy trail and I personally consider it as a jogging trail. It usually takes an hour to complete. The views were awesome, access to the clean beach and perfect vibes. I recommend this trail for beginner hikers.

Stunning! The Half Moon Bay coastal trail is so beautiful and inviting with the trail skimming the coastline in some areas and taking one through woodsy trails in others. It begins (or ends) near the Half Moon Bay Ritz Carlton, along the golf course, and ends in Pillar Point Harbor. A worthwhile hike.

Venice Beach

Beach
Nature & Parks
Dunes Beach is one of the four beaches that make up Half Moon Bay State Beach in California, USA. The beach offers various facilities such as picnic areas, a campground, and opportunities for fishing. Visitors can also enjoy splendid views and observe spring flowers in full bloom. Although the sand is warm, visitors should bring extra wind-resistant clothes as the water and wind are cold. The beach is less crowded than other beaches in the area and has restrooms available.
Venice beach is one of my favorite places. A lot to do, very hip. The art is incredible. A lot of great places to eat in town. The skatepark is great either to be a spectator or use. Very clean beaches. So many cool elements encapsulated into one great experience.
BEAUTTAN L — Google review
Wonderful beach. Very windy and requires to buy tickets. Well worth it. Lots of flowers and good walking trails. Recommend going to Venice beach, which is one of the 4 beaches in half moon bay
Raj A — Google review
Beautiful because of the magnificent waves. I've never seen waves like this. They are high and far-reaching on the beach. I also saw a huge number of seagulls resting on the beach. They form their own territory just between two areas filled by human visitors.
Nan L — Google review
A very enjoyable entry point to the beach. Restrooms are generous in size and very clean. There are also sinks and lowered faucets for feet washing outside. The parking lot is rather small which makes this spot more intimate compared to the nearby beaches. There is an entry to the walking/biking pass from the parking lot. Picnic tables are also available on the cliffs above the beach with the views.
Galina G — Google review
Windy ….. but nice and clean beach. Campgrounds are very close to the beach. May be camping would be my next option for the San Francisco Area Visit.
Sagar A — Google review
Bring a jacket before coming out. Also remember to pay for the parking, there’s always couple of rangers around. Not sure they are there to patrol the park or doing parking enforcement. We came on a Friday and once you go down to the beach it’s so beautiful and isn’t crowded at all. Only few people is down by the water. Wonderful!! Oh, the bathroom was bit dirty. They could use some normal maintenance. 🤗
Jesse L — Google review
Windy, foggy & cool when we went. Typical San Fransisco weather I didn’t care for. We skipped the park so no idea what that would have been like. There is a walking trail if you’re a hiker. Parked down the road to avoid any entrance fees. View to the left of the beach was cool. Horses traveling on the beach frequently, which is totally my vibe of interest.
Melanie P — Google review
A very beautiful beach with camping facility. Parking here is $10 and you can do overnight camping. You can take your RV here as they have campsite with hookup facility for $50 for overnight camping. Enough restrooms . It's very beautiful currently due to full spring bloom. So many picnic tables here with bbq facility. So basically you can have a wonderful time with family and friends be it for some hours or overnight plans. There are some nets also for people to play beach volleyball as you can make out from the pics .

Mavericks Beach

Mentioned on
1 list
Beach
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Mavericks Beach is a renowned spot for experienced big-wave surfers and hosts an exclusive competition. The beach is also dog-friendly and offers opportunities to explore underwater treasures during low tide. Families often visit on weekends with buckets to collect interesting finds, such as starfish and other wildlife. However, parking can be limited, and it's vital to park in legal spots to avoid fines.
This is such a fun, dog-friendly beach! When the tide is low, you can bring buckets and find cool things under water. You’ll probably have to do more research on what exactly people find, but there were dozens of families and people out on a Sunday afternoon with buckets full of things! Very cool! Also the starfish and other wildlife was so beautiful! Only con: very limited parking and be cognizant of parking in LEGAL spots. Cheers mate!!
Abe H — Google review
This was my second visit and I was once again disappointed. The beach is dirty and there are hardly any waves. Nice walk to the beach, though.
Brigitte J — Google review
Very nice walk and tide pools. The dog police was not reinforced so the dogs were off leash. It had a bit of trash along the way to the tide pools.
Taynara M — Google review
Dog friendly beach with very interesting tide pool ecosystem to discover. On the weekend there are families with children playing with sand, people collecting clams. We used the chance of low tide and walked to the other side (Ross’ Cove). It was quite an exciting trip.
Chia-chen L — Google review
Beautiful beach to just sit and watch. Nice walk out to the base of the cliff. The sunken eye sore in the shallows that’s probably contaminating water and the trash we kept finding everywhere was a turn off. Pay lots of taxes for dirty state beaches.
Jon P — Google review
Beautiful beach, but watch out for broken mussel shells 🐚 and jelly fish 🐙 in the sand (both are EVERYWHERE). Practically NO ONE follows the leash law while walking the trail from Pillar Point, so anticipate lots of random dogs running up to you. 🐕🐾 Also, the parking lot to access the trail to the beach is nearly always packed full on the weekend when weather is nice. Road access beyond the entrance to the parking lot is restricted by the military base atop the hill, so if you get tired of waiting for a parking spot to open up, you'll have to make a U-turn on the road and find somewhere else to park. When we were waiting for a parking spot, a group of chatty dog-walkers were standing around gabbing with one another, blocking the entrance to the parking lot before finally pulling out, with seemingly no regard for the long line of cars waiting. 🙄😒 Other than that, the scenery is soothing. 🏖️🌅⛵ It's an enjoyable experience visiting a place with so much history. 🏄‍♀️🌊 You can hear the seals from Pillar Point Harbor barking as you walk along the trail. There are warnings posted about bacterial contamination of the stagnant water around Pillar Point (marsh) before you get out to the actual beach, so I'd be wary of playing in the water there. There are porta-potties at the entrance to the trail, but that's the only spot, so use the bathroom before you get out to the beach. Children and adults who enjoy collecting sea shells will be delighted to find mussel shells, colorful sea snail shells, sand dollars, and many others. 🦐🐚 We even found a tiny pearl! 📿 There is also a wealth of other flora and fauna to be explored in the tide pools, along the trail, and around the beach!
Heather B — Google review
Hands down one of the best places on the planet for big wave surfing...brought my family here to see this place for the awesomeness that it is and for myself to exercise some demons from my past. Have been scared to set foot on Mavericks for years as it almost killed me back in my early 20's. I remember the water being very cold and the water moving very fast. Seals and otters are everywhere along the water. Parking is scarce at best on a half decent day, so on a beautiful day be prepared to walk as there isn't any roadside parking due to the military base and the traffic in and out. The lot itself is very small and parking can get very tight. Half moon bay is a great place to walk around and just soak in the surroundings, mind you the crazy abundance of seaweed can get overwhelming for the nostrils. Cool ride pools make it extra enjoyable too. Beware of sneaker waves and keep your distance from the napping seals on the beach. Remember to thank Jeff Clark in your prayers for having the balls and the vision to even attempt riding Mavericks at all let alone all those years...alone. Hit up the surf shop and chill at the bar for some wobbly pops and chow. Ride on brothers and sisters and remember W.W.E.D. Peace.
Booyaka ( — Google review
Fantastic beach that has everything you could want. There is a section with seaweed, then a large section with nice sand and gentle waves thanks to the seawall. There is also boats and seals that are making their home on the dock. You will also find small tide pools where you can find sea creatures. There is a small parking area with Porta Potties, but if you can't find parking there is plenty of parking in the hippy town that is within half mile of the beech. Also, look out for the large waves on the other side of the seawall....it is Mavericks after all.

Coyote Hills Regional Park, spanning over 900 acres of marsh and grasslands, offers a picturesque landscape with rolling hills and lush greenery. Located along the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay in Fremont, it provides stunning views of the bay area. Visitors can enjoy activities such as picnicking, bird-watching, biking, and hiking on the network of trails that traverse the low hills and wetlands.
Such a beautiful and peaceful place! The views of the Bay and Dumbarton Bridge are absolutely stunning, especially around sunset. The trails are a mix of flat and a little hilly — perfect for all levels, whether you want a relaxed walk or a mini workout. I loved how clean and well-maintained everything was, including the restrooms and picnic spots. We spotted so many birds along the marsh trails — egrets, herons, even some pelicans! 🐦🪻 The Visitor Center is a hidden gem full of interesting history about the Ohlone people. It’s a great place to bring kids too educational and fun. Parking was $5 and easy on a weekday. Will definitely be back again!
SriBathraVardhini K — Google review
Very nice place to hike in the East Bay. Trails are well maintained and there are lots of intersecting paths. This allows hikers to easily customize the length of the hike. Views of the bay are really beautiful and there are plenty of great breezes, even on a hot day. One star off for the limited access to bathrooms and water refill stations, given the $5.00 entry fee.
J D — Google review
Visited on August 30, 2025. The weather was amazing. I only walked .5 miles of the Bayview Trail off the first parking lot with a stroller, my wife and our 2 year old grandson, but it was very nicely graded, paved until it opens up to a view of the Bay and an easy walk or bike if you just want a nice place to exercise or take in views of the Bay Area. There are picnic areas and places to sit along the way if needed. I’ll be back with a bike to do a more comprehensive tour. The views from the hills and trails above are presumably spectacular. I was with family and we had other obligations, but it was perfect for a quick stroll before heading to dinner.
Aram S — Google review
This park offers a truly rewarding hiking experience with beautiful, panoramic views of the bay. The trail system features a great mix of terrain, with paths winding up and down the grassy hillsides. For those looking for a challenge, there is a steep section that provides an excellent workout. While the overall elevation gain is moderate (likely under 1,000 feet), the varying slopes offer plenty of opportunities to get your heart pumping. A highlight is the marsh area, which is a fantastic spot for birdwatching. You can often spot a variety of shorebirds and waterfowl here. The views are stunning in every direction: you get a clear look at the west side of the bay and a beautiful, sweeping landscape on both sides of the ridge.

Wonderful time. We'll worth the stop. Beautiful views of bay and San Francisco skyline from afar. Perfect trails, dog friendly and a cool visitor center with exhibits. Plenty of restrooms and drinking fountains. An awesome butterfly garden. Great to hike with tons of options for trails. Five dollar parking for all day. Season regional park passes are available.
Gordon R — Google review
It's one of the best trails in Fremont. It's stroller friendly and has a lot of parking space. Tip: Either try to come early in the morning so you get a parking spot or later when the sun is shining. If you come at the perfect time it would be hard
Deepti G — Google review
Have good hiking options for all types of hike. Weekend they have certain ranger led activities, we went for the captivating cattails tour. Ranger was friendly.
Devika S — Google review
Only walked the marsh, saw so many ducks, including but not limited to coots, griebs, and teals in addition to kites, hawks, egrets, night herons, turkeys and deer. Great wildlife watching . Plenty of parking, can't wait to be back.

San Francisco Premium Outlets in Livermore, California is a top destination for fashion enthusiasts seeking designer and brand-name clothing, shoes, accessories, and housewares at discounted prices. With over 180 stores featuring renowned designers such as Coach, Gucci, Prada, and Kate Spade, this outlet mall offers a delightful shopping experience for those with discerning tastes on a budget.
These are my go to outlets within an hour plus drive of my house. They have some high-end stores with outlet pricing. It does get very busy here and I have a feeling there is tourist bus passing through because in the parking lot they have a designated area for those buses. Not sure if they are people traveling cross country or visiting the US.
Scot M — Google review
It's a good place to shop for clothes, shoes, wallets, and other accessories. But it's not a place for guys and children looking for electronics, game shops, anime goods, or similar items. Anyway, I liked this place's warm summer day shopping vibe. There's a food court that provides different kinds of food that will keep you fueled for a long shopping spree. I recommend this place.
Junhyun K — Google review
An outlet mall that features large stores from almost all major brands. The mall is quite large and involves a lot of walking. There is a proper food court along with smaller coffee and ice cream shops, as well as vending machines spread across the mall. The pricing at all stores is considerably discounted, while majority of the stores have further larger discounts available. Not much tech available in this outlet mall, however definitely a good place for shopping clothes, shoes, jewelry and other accessories. The free parking lot circles around the mall, and for short trips it’s better to find the store and park closer to
Avais S — Google review
Place is big , clean, restrooms are in good shape, lots of parking, really just went to sole & laces this time, but lots to choose n shop from
Alex C — Google review
This outlet mall has a great selection of large stores from nearly all major brands. It’s quite spacious, so be prepared for a bit of walking. You’ll find a full food court, smaller coffee and ice cream shops, and even vending machines conveniently located throughout. Most stores offer significant discounts, and many have additional sales that make the deals even better. While there aren’t many tech stores here, it’s an excellent place to shop for clothing, shoes, jewelry, and accessories. Parking is free and surrounds the entire mall. If you’re planning a quick visit, it’s best to find your store first and park nearby for easy access.

Update: I had a great experience in San Francisco Premium Outlets! All the stores were well maintained, stocked, and clean, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The decorations as I walked through many different brands felt like a mall but outside, and it had many sitting benches and resting places plus restrooms which were convenient. Overall, it’s a great place to visit if you are looking for apparel and shoe stores near you in Livermore/Pleasanton area. (Comment originally posted a year ago from: “Pretty good.”)
Levent — Google review
Great shopping experience! Huge selection of top brands with amazing discounts. The outlet is clean, well organized and easy to get around. Perfect for finding deals on clothes, shoes and accessories. Brazilians will love it too as there are many favorite brands with much better prices than back home. Totally worth the visit!
Laerte L — Google review
I luv a bargain and I do not find particular joy in clothes shopping. So I try to maximize my time, energy, and dollars when I do. With that in mind, I planned a shopping excursion out to the San Francisco (SF) Premium Outlets. I purposely did not go on a weekend. I did that to avoid the crowds and lack of sufficient parking. Overall my first ever experience at the SF outlets was a success ... I survived! I was able to purchase clothes, in my hard to find size, at bargain prices. These outlets include a good mix of brands (designer , luxury, and mid-range). The luxury brands include Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo, Burberry, Prada, Tory Birch, Zegna... just to name a few. There was a food court and food stalls scattered about the outlet. The outlet is beautifully designed and landscaped with art sculptures and plants; adding to a more pleasant shopping environment. But my gripes are the parking lot and the lack of janitorial staff. The parking lot has only one exit/entrance. The flow of traffic gets logged jammed and it becomes the Wild West of line merging. Regarding the janitorial needs, I spent practically the entire day at the outlet and do not recall seeing any janitorial staff. The women's restroom closest to the food court was atrociously dirty and got more so during the day. Trash bins were overflowing and there was a strong sewage smell. The other restrooms were not as worse, but not clean either and less likely f a strong odor. Plus the food court dining area was a hot mess as well. Tables needed to be cleared and cleaned.

Golden Gate Park is a sprawling 1,017-acre oasis in the heart of San Francisco, attracting hikers, bikers, art enthusiasts, and music lovers. The park is home to the impressive de Young Museum, housed in a modern architectural marvel designed to blend with its natural surroundings. Inside the museum, visitors can explore an extensive collection of American art spanning from the 17th to the 20th centuries as well as textile arts and diverse cultural artworks.
Golden Gate Park is such a beautiful and peaceful escape from the city. I didn’t expect it to be this big — you can easily spend hours just wandering around and still not see it all. We walked through the gardens, relaxed by Stow Lake, and enjoyed the calm atmosphere. There’s a great mix of nature, open space, and little surprises throughout the park. It’s the kind of place where you can take it slow, have a picnic, or just enjoy the greenery and peaceful vibes. Highly recommend if you need a break from the city buzz without actually leaving San Francisco.

Don't have the words to describe this park. Simply astonishing! You need q whole day to go around.. multiple days of you wish to make long stops in the sites and enjoy. I think the best way to make the most of it, is to take a look on the several sites, decide which ones you want to see and follow the Google map of the park. This way you will not get lost and you' ll have plenty of time to enjoy - bring coffee and food and no worries, there are clean public restrooms in several points.

Such a beautiful park in the heart of San Francisco! There are so many parts to go and see, from the Conservatory of Flowers down to Blue Heron Lake. In addition, there are many museums to go and explore, such as the California Academy of Sciences and De Young Museum. There is also the serene Japanese Tea Garden, which is an amazing place to walk around and relax. I will definitely come back again!

Honestly it's just a great park to stroll. The landscaping with the varying vegetation gives it an otherworldly feel like the rest of the city. A lot of juxtaposition. On top of that there are world class museums scattered throughout. Definitely can spread a day out here alone if you're visiting.

We were there for the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. String Cheese Incident was phenomenal, as expected, and our favorite act. But the park itself is amazing, festival or not. Excellent birding spot and for walking/strolling. Wheelchair accessible.

This has to be one of the most beautiful parks in the US. Especially love the Japanese Tea Garden, de Young Museum (Art of Manga exhibit was available when I went), and the JFK Promenade to go for a run. Such a nice place to spend the day!

Golden Gate Park is a San Francisco treasure, larger than Central Park and full of things to explore. You’ll find miles of trails for walking or biking, wide lawns for picnics, and lakes with paddle boats. At Strawberry Hill, the park’s highest point, you can enjoy peaceful views, a small waterfall, and dog-friendly paths. We even came across a fun “sea monster” exhibition. Perfect for families, pet owners, or anyone who loves the outdoors.

Located in southeastern Oakland, the Oakland Zoo is a long-standing sanctuary for over 850 native and exotic animals. The zoo covers 100 acres and features modern exhibits and natural habitats where the animals live. It also offers interactive displays and educational programs for visitors to learn about its inhabitants. One of its highlights is the excellent elephant exhibit, known nationally for providing ample space for these majestic creatures to roam freely.
Fantastic zoo, one of the best in the country. It’s not your traditional zoo - it requires more patience and exploration. That said, it’s getting really crowded during weekends and therefore kinda ruined the vibe a bit. The place is super kids friendly - has stroller solution for almost everything. We all had great fun here!

The Oakland Zoo was awesome we been to a handful of zoos this has been my favorite so far. You have to buy your tickets online for a specific time pulling up around our designated time, parking and getting in was super easy. There is a lot of ground to cover we opted for going up the Gondola first up at the top we saw wolves, a jaguar, bears, and more they also have their cafe at the top up there which has an awesome view - it may be a little crazy trying to find a table as everyone is there with their family but this particular day weather was perfect so we sat outside and had an awesome view. Would definitely recommend. They have another little lift for $5 per person that takes you directly over the Lions - that was surreal they even let out a little roar while we were going over the top it was insane. There was so many animals it was awesome. They also had some cool reptiles and a little insect room. All in all would definitely recommend be ready to walk.
Mark F — Google review
I feel we nailed it on our timing. We got there before they opened and were first in line. When we got inside we headed straight for the far end of the park and worked our way back. We were able to catch many animals being fed and almost all of them were out and about. We also didn't have to wait in line for the ride or wait to get close to the animals. The weather was perfect and the animals seemed to be putting on a show. The lions were roaring and playing, the monkeys and chimpanzees showing off, and more. It was a fantastic experience and a wonderfully kept up zoo. The animals seemed well taken care of. I value that.

I'm a teacher in San Francisco, and I'm always on the lookout for the best field trip experiences in the Bay Area. The Oakland Zoo has become one of our absolute favorites. Over the years, I've tried several of their educational options: the first year we booked a wildlife assembly (we were the only class there), the second year we participated in the ZooSchool program, and this year we explored the self-guided option. Each experience has been well-organized and engaging for students. In the past we never had time to ride the gondola or explore the zoo on our own so we never collected Zoo cards. My students this year loved collecting cards throughout the day, but what really stood out was an Oakland Zoo staff member who went above and beyond at the end of the day. He took the time to trade cards with my students and make the experience feel extra special. The Oakland Zoo is, in my opinion, far superior to the San Francisco Zoo in terms of both educational value and visitor experience. We'll definitely continue returning year after year. Highly recommend it for teachers, families, and anyone looking for a meaningful and memorable day at the zoo! I also attended glowfari for the first time last year and WOW! It is worth every penny. The decorations are up and it's looking EPIC this year.
Leah N — Google review
It's a good Zoo, but the access for people walking is difficult. The lower entrance was closed and we have to walk the road with all the cars. There is a "sidewalk", but we had to walk around it using the road most of the time. The installations are great and big for the animals, bigger than other zoos, and there is enrichment. The workers were really nice and enthusiast, explaining facts about the animals and the conservation efforts. The views from the California Trail are excellent, you can see Oakland and San Francisco skylines.
Alberto O — Google review
Had an amazing experience! There are so many fun learning areas and awesome playgrounds for the kids. The animals were super active, the gondola rides were a bonus, and the bay views were the cherry on top. Definitely a place we’ll visit again!
Jacqueline A — Google review
It was my first time to Oakland zoo and it was such a fun time! We went around 1pm on a Saturday, it was pretty hot and luckily some animals were very active! Favorite exhibit was grizzly bears, wolves, giraffes, we went to 3 different bear exhibits and they were all so cute. Definitely take the sky ride! We took it and were able to see sleeping lions resting underneath the shade further back in their exhibit. If we didn’t take the sky ride, we definitely wouldn’t have been able to see them. It also has great views of the bay! We also did the train ride- this one took a bit long to get on as there were so many families and large parties. This is the only way to access wallabies and emus. It was fun to see emus up close- but maybe would skip if you’re short on time and the train line is too long. Definitely would come back again to enjoy the park- who doesn’t love animals?
Tiffany S — Google review
I have loved the Oakland zoo forever, for their top-notch habitats, husbandry, and ethics. But today I had such a unique experience and felt like I needed to leave a review. I went with my family around opening this morning, and shortly after we took the gondola up to the upper zoo area, it had to be temporarily shut down for safety. The staff (specifically the EMT) checked in with us regularly to answer our questions (like if the cafe would still be opening with only a small handful of people up there- it did! And when the shuttles would be coming to take us down). It was kinda fun to have a more "private" experience at the zoo since nobody else was able to come up, and to get to see the veterinary hospital in a normally private section of the zoo as the shuttle took us back down. But the point of my review is just how wonderfully all the staff handled the weird situation (and my in-law's redundent questions, haha). Definitely eat at the cafe- it was yummy and the outdoor view over the bay was beautiful. Unfortunately, the gift shop is currently closed for construction.

A very educational Museum with lots of information on the fantastic little cable cars you can get throughout San Francisco. Highly recommend you ride the Cable Cars while you're here, they're incredible fun, and a good way to see the sights too. We paid $35 on the MUNI app for unlimited rides on both Buses and Cable Cars. If you ride the Cars and are then interested in learning how they work, then visiting this FREE museum is a must!

PIER 39 is a lively waterfront destination in San Francisco, offering stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, and the city skyline. Nestled at the edge of Fisherman's Wharf near North Beach, it boasts over 50 unique stores selling a variety of items from sports gear to fine jewelry and San Francisco souvenirs. Visitors can explore attractions like Houdini's Magic Shop and Lefty's San Francisco.
Just had an incredible adventure at Pier 39 with my family! 🎉 It was such a fun and exciting day, filled with sea lion watching and lots of very good food. 🦭 Every moment was memorable, and the atmosphere was fantastic. We captured so many pictures to remember this amazing day. Can't wait to come back for more adventures! Highly recommend it for a perfect family outing.

Pier 39 is one of the most fun and lively spots in San Francisco! It’s full of energy, with beautiful views of the bay, Alcatraz, and the Golden Gate Bridge. The atmosphere is festive, with street performers, music, and the famous sea lions lounging by the docks a highlight for everyone. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and attractions for all ages. You can enjoy fresh seafood, take a boat tour, or just stroll around and take in the views. Everything is clean, safe, and well maintained, making it a perfect stop for tourists and locals alike. Pier 39 perfectly captures the charm and excitement of San Francisco a must-visit destination that combines great food, entertainment, and stunning waterfront

Sea lions, sunsets, and a lively boardwalk vibe Pier 39 is one of those places that instantly feels alive, a mix of sea breeze, music, and the occasional bark of a sea lion echoing from the docks. I didn’t need to buy any tickets in advance; the main attraction, the sea lions, are free to watch if you find a good spot by the water. It’s one of those simple yet memorable moments where you just stand there, camera in hand, and enjoy their lazy, sun-bathing charm. The pier itself is full of options, cozy restaurants, souvenir shops, ice-cream stands, and smoothie bars. I didn’t get to try everything, but everything I did try, from snacks to smoothies, was genuinely good. The staff were friendly and helpful everywhere we stopped, which made the whole experience even better. Nearby, there are a few attractions like the Ferris wheel and some boat tours that might require tickets, but they’re optional. Honestly, just walking around the pier at sunset already feels like an experience on its own. If you’re coming by scooter or bike, I’d recommend checking how busy it is first. Scooters are manageable, but on crowded days, maneuvering a bike could be tricky. All in all, Pier 39 is more than just a tourist stop, it’s a place to slow down, take in the bay air, and feel the pulse of San Francisco by the water. 🌅

My family and I really enjoyed our day stroll at Pier 39. The weather was perfect when we visited! It was a bit crowded in some areas, but we still found plenty of nice spots to sightsee and walk around. There are lots of great food options and cafés to choose from. Finding a restroom was a bit of a challenge, but overall, it was still a wonderful day!

Pier 39 is one of the liveliest and most iconic spots in San Francisco — full of energy, colors, and that unmistakable ocean breeze. You’ll find street performers, souvenir shops, seafood restaurants, and of course, the famous sea lions lounging on the wooden docks. It’s especially magical to see the sea lions in the evening, as the sun begins to set — the light turns golden, the crowds thin out, and the whole pier feels calmer and more cinematic. Watching them bark and play against the backdrop of the sunset is one of those small San Francisco moments you never forget. ✨ Tip: Come around sunset for the best atmosphere, softer light, and the perfect mix of sea breeze and golden glow.

The Golden Gate Bridge is simply Spectacular! I recommend visiting the visitors center at the south entrance. Here you can learn about the history of the bridge. Absolutely astonishing how these engineers and steel workers survived brutal cold elements to construct this bridge! The Golden Gate Bridge was fantastic! Went during the week, not crowded. Was able to cruise across at our leisure and not worry about someone on our ass. Fisherman's Wharf was quiet, no lines. Food is always great in the area. And I'm talking about seafood. Everything is slowed down during the week. We really enjoyed our time there. Hotels were plentiful and cheaper. Looking forward to another visit.

I'm not sure how you even review a bridge, but since I have never driven across the Golden Gate before now, I will say this: it is iconic for a reason. Gorgeous construction, incredible views...and frighteningly, unbelievably narrow lanes for its whole length. Seriously.

Okay, if you have not crossed this legendary Landmark whether by car, bike or walking, you are missing out! Wife and I walked it thinking it was going to be a bit windy and chilly! Quite the opposite, the weather was perfect! I mean perfect! We both wrapped our jackets around our waist and began our walk. Stopped along the way and took pics! Got to the other side and rested for about 20 min. Vendors were at the rest area providing grilled hot dogs and mango/watermelon slices with tajin sprinkled all about. We walked back over and on to Crissy Field. Each way is about 1.7 mile walk. Will definitely do that again!

A childhood dream come true! Visiting the Golden Gate Bridge was a truly special moment for me — something I’ve dreamed of since I was a child. A must-see landmark that perfectly combines beauty, history, and innovation.

Alcatraz Island, once home to infamous criminals like Al Capone, has been transformed into a captivating museum accessible by ferry. The island's multi-million dollar improvement plan has renovated many structures, offering visitors a unique experience. The ferry ride provides stunning views of San Francisco before arriving at the island where friendly park rangers welcome you. The main attraction is the Alcatraz tour, which offers insight into its history as a military prison and maximum-security penitentiary.
💚 The island is a photographic paradise with amazing views of the city, the bay, gardens, and fully accessible structures in a state of beautiful decay. 💚 Audio tour: Highly recommended because it affords the unique experience of enjoying a tour, but can still wander around and explore at your own pace. Headphones with a pocket player device are handed out. The narrator leads visitors through the building discussing various points of interest while voice actors recreate infamous stories. The device has a simple pause/play button to control the pace or take a break to wander off the path. This tour is only in one main cell block, leaving the rest of the island to explore “device-free”. 💚 Efficient operation: One reasonably priced ticket includes island admission and ferry service from the clearly-marked Pier 33 terminal. Employees are moving visitors both quickly and pleasantly. 💚 Amenities: Restroom facilities available at the bottom of the island adjacent to the ferry terminal and also at the top of the island. Picnic tables adjacent to same ferry terminal. 💚 Available tram/shuttle taking visitors (only those with mobility issues) to the top of the island. ⛔️ Caution: Visitors must walk up steep roads to top of the island. Easy for savvy hikers, might be a challenge for some. Aforementioned tram available. Plan accordingly. ⛔️ Amenities: Limited benches. There is a “plaza” about halfway up the climb with benches, but some visitors probably could use more benches along a few other desolate stretches.

If you are in San Fran, you have to visit Alcatraz. I used Alcatraz City Cruises and I recommend them. It is a smooth process getting to and leaving the island. Once you are on the island, you can take a guided audio tour or explore on your own. From a historical perspective, it is worth checking out and it gives you a really new perspective on how the "Rock" was used and how it has evolved over time. Being there and experiencing it is a lot different than reading about it or watching shows about it.

If you visit San Francisco this tour is a must. Recommend going on the Park ranger walk. It's very informative. The audio tour, while in the cell house was also well done. Park staff were very friendly. Take the time to enjoy this national land mark.

We opted for the Behind The Scenes Tour and are very glad we did! We've been to numerous prison, penitentiary and jail museums and wanted to see all of this one, the alpha omega of prisons! The tour includes places not accessible without a guide so we got to see more than most. Our tour guide was amazing, he was very knowledgeable of both the military prison and the federal prison eras which was greatly appreciated. He eagerly answered questions and happily elaborated on any areas requested. Getting to go underground through the tunnel and mote and learning how they were used during both eras was fascinating. The behind the scenes part is pretty quick, we were whisked from one spot to the next and although our guide said he'd wait until the entire group was reassembled, he started way before we all got there! Had to be super quick up those steep hills! Also included was the Night Tour and the audio tour so it's a complete look at Alcatraz! We thoroughly enjoyed the Indian Occupation exhibit and highly recommend going through all of it, it's quite moving.

We visited Alcatraz recently and really enjoyed the experience! The boat ride was pleasant, and once on the island we had access to a very informative audio guide that helped us understand how the prison operated during its time of use. I especially liked that you had to walk and listen at the same time, it made the visit more immersive! The ticket was a bit expensive, but we’re really glad we went!

The park features over 40 miles of multi-use trails, including sections of the Bay Area Ridge Trail and the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail. It is also home to golden eagles and offers open grasslands for exploration.
It a peaceful escape just minutes from the city! It offers stunning trails lined with towering redwoods, fresh air, and serene vibes. Perfect for hiking, picnicking, or simply unwinding in nature. Don’t miss the Stream Trail—it's a gem! 🌲🌲

We arrived on a Saturday around 10 AM, and there were already many people in the park. Since the park is quite large, it didn’t feel crowded. We chose the Stream Trail, which is a loop trail. It took us about two hours to complete the loop. Most of the trail is shaded, making it very comfortable on a summer day. There is approximately a 30-minute hike uphill, so I recommend carrying a hiking stick for those who may have balance issues. The trail itself is beautiful and well-maintained, with lots of redwood trees, and most hikers were very friendly and courteous. There are plenty of clean restrooms at the trailhead, and I highly suggest using the restroom before starting the hike. Additionally, there are several large parking lots, and we had no trouble finding a parking space.

Love this place. Taken my mom and friends and everyone enjoyed. There are some bugs so bring spray and you can't get lost all the paths ends up leading you back out just remember if you go up come back down. Beautiful trees and birds and sometimes you can hear the creek running and it's so nice. There's lots of parking and the park stays open late and it's free after 5pm so it's nice in the summer to have 3hrs or hike or outside time before dark. I've met some really interesting people some from New York even a cat that's famous on Instagram. There's dogs and they are supposed to be in leashes but not always just be careful and keep an eye out. There's a ton of bathrooms. The air is so great I always feel 1000x better each time I go.

For being to close and easy to get to it’s great to enjoy some nice trails with pretty views. I didn’t plan well so just went out and back about 3 miles and it was nice. Probably a good idea to look at all the different trails and plan a route but even just wandering was nice.

Mount Diablo State Park

Nature & Parks
Mount Diablo State Park is a vast park featuring a summit visitor center, observation deck, trails, campsites, and picnic areas. The journey to the top involves a straightforward 3000 ft elevation gain with winding roads offering scenic views. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from the summit and explore various hiking trails. The park also houses the historic beacon known as "The Eye of Diablo," which commemorates the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Mount Diablo State Park is an absolute gem in the East Bay! From the moment you enter, you're surrounded by scenic beauty, peaceful trails, and panoramic views that stretch all the way to the Sierra Nevada on a clear day. The drive to the summit is breathtaking, and the observation deck at the top offers one of the best 360-degree views in Northern California. There are plenty of well-maintained hiking trails for all levels, whether you're looking for a casual stroll or a more challenging trek. I especially loved the Rock City area—fun for both kids and adults to climb and explore. Wildlife sightings, colorful wildflowers in spring, and golden hills in the summer make this park a year-round destination. It’s also a great place for picnics, photography, or just escaping the hustle of the city for some quiet time in nature. Highly recommend visiting early in the day to beat the crowds and catch the morning light. Mt. Diablo never disappoints!

The park is absolutely beautiful and has nice amenities. The views from the summit are amazing! The visitor center at the summit was fun to check out and it had nice souvenirs and snacks with good prices. We also went to Rock City Park (aka Rock Hill) which is inside the Mt Diablo State Park. It was fun to climb the rocks and made for cute pictures. Overall I recommend checking out the park.

To truly appreciate everything Mount Diablo has to offer, I highly recommend reading up on its significance to native peoples, bringing binoculars to check out wildlife, and learning about the diversity of oak trees and small plants that grow only on the mountain. We saw sprays of poppies, lupine, vetch, and wild onions in mid-April. It’s more than just an hour long drive to the top. Each entrance can be explored with different things to appreciate!
Tiffany C — Google review
An amazing all around view. Summit is about a 30 minute drive from the Walnut Creek entrance. Prepare yourself for a lot of turns. Also make sure to pack a lunch, a lot of great spots for a picnic. At the top, there is a small visitor center with gift shop.
JanmfMarie — Google review
Mount Diablo State Park is beautiful. The drive up the mountain is a bit twisty and has some bumps in the road, so be prepared for that but it's nothing detrimental. The summit is just shy of 4,000 feet above sea level, and there are stunning views 360° around you on a clear day. Bathrooms are down the stairs near the parking lot if needed, and if you feel adventurous there are some trails to follow there, too. They get steep, so keep that in mind. Watch your step, as we did encounter a nope rope on the trail (pictured), and there was some animal poop as well. I really enjoyed the trip.
Sean P — Google review
Mount Diablo is always a good time. I’ve been in the cold and the heat! I personally love rock city! It’s fun and exciting. There are also several different trails/ routes to take. I love the drive up and ugh!! It’s great! Saw turkeys, deer and little lizards through the day.
RLYDEST X — Google review
Place suitable for people who are healthy only even though there are facilities for differently abled peoples also.Long drive over curved roads uphill for about 3000 feet height. Very scenic place in the clouds.
Vedantam S — Google review
You have to ask, why did Californians name such a lovely place after the devil? The mountain is taller than you think, roughly 3850 ft at the summit. The park authorities have really outdone themselves with the cleanliness and facilities on hand. You can see the entire bay area on a clear day, beautiful doesn't begin to describe it. But drive slowly, there are no guardrails and you are sharing the road with bicyclists. Pack as if you are going to on a day trip Tahoe, wind really picks up near the summit. The park is so massive you can easily spend an entire weekend here roaming about and discovering something new. If you like the outdoors and have a day or two in the Bay this is my top pick.

Lindsay Wildlife Experience, established in 1955, is a renowned wildlife rehabilitation center and museum in the San Francisco East Bay Area. It houses over 50 species of live California wildlife and treats more than 6,000 orphaned and injured animals annually. Visitors can enjoy unique exhibits and experiences, including behind-the-scenes access to the Wildlife Hospital where live veterinary procedures can be observed. The center offers an educational opportunity to learn about wildlife conservation while providing a chance to witness the rehabilitation efforts firsthand.
This place was adorable and very kid friendly. There isn't a ton of parking in the lot, but I did notice some street parking. They have education sessions that are perfect for little kids. My husband and I really enjoyed walking through and we loved seeing the bald eagle. Our son is under two, so he was a little too young to understand anything, but he did have fun running around and looking at the animals. He was free since they only charge for kids 2 & older. We definitely plan on coming back when we visit the area again.
Sadie M — Google review
Went here on the 70th year anniversary free day. It was very cool! It was also my first time seeing a bald eagle. Also a lot of taxidermy.
Sunny W — Google review
On vacation, we came upon this museum. It was a wonderful experience. My kids really enjoyed it being able to discover animals they've never seen, and they really liked being able to get up close to real statues of bears, foxes, deer, and other animals. They were able to use telescopes to view owl feathers and other things as well as sit in a giant eagles nest.
Danielle A — Google review
This was a fun place for our boys. They are a bit younger so their attention spans are a bit short, but they had fun. One of my boys was very intrigued with the indoor bee hive with the port to the outside. Other than that, they loved seeing the owl, their favorite animal and our reason for visiting this venue. Even I was interested in the live raptors.

Highly recommend for families to spend the weekend afternoon. Very educational for young kids. Every hour, they have special scientific event events where kids can ask questions. It’s a lot of fun for families.

This is probably one of the best smaller wildlife encounters that I have been to in Northern California. They have so many unique animals. They're including the bald eagle and porcupine and all the reptiles as well. Definitely fun and informative for the whole family and what is really cool. Also, is the aviary outdoor exhibit.

Vallejo

Ferries
Vallejo is a charming destination that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and urban convenience. The city serves as the starting point for an impressive 47-mile trail that takes you through the heart of Napa Valley, offering stunning views of lush vineyards and rolling hills as you make your way to Calistoga. Additionally, Vallejo provides excellent ferry services to San Francisco, with helpful staff and convenient amenities such as coffee shops, breweries, and restaurants at the Ferry Building.
Between driving, casual carpooling, driving+BART, drive+bus+BART, the ferry has everything beat for what you get for your money. As of today, it'll cost you $10.40 one-way with a Clipper Card. You may buy a ticket onboard with cash or credit. 5 morning departures during the weekdays will certainly accommodate everyone. On time, everytime departures. Rough weather may cause some slowdowns but those are days I-80 or BART suffer too. Remember it's first-come-first-served, plus regulations dictate everyone has to have a life saver. So everyone gets a seat... if you never travelled before show up 20 min. before departure until you get comfortable. When the boat is at max capacity (275-349 people depending on the vessel) doors close and you will be prohibited from boarding even if you are next in line. On the plus side, you'll never rub elbows with anybody. Once inside, you'll find seats with tray tables, solo seats, 2 and 3 row seats. Tables for 4, 6 and even 8 passengers. Power outlets throughout. A coffee/snack/alcohol bar (cash only), an outter deck with amazing views and more seats, 3 bathrooms or more, windows throughout. If the splashing and morning sun doesn't put you to sleep, feel free to catch up on work or update your status. No one takes your stuff (where can they run with it?), and everyone respects and gives ample space to everyone. In the afternoon gaze at I-80 all jammed up while you sip a beer in the outter viewing area with the warm summer air. Then return inside to follow on a group's poker game. You will arrive SF or Vallejo relaxed and rested. There is no competition to this mode of transportation. The chartered game vessels require a separate review as they are reserved, unique and no alcohol can be sold after the game. ;)

The Ferry Building has my favorite coffee shop in it as well as a top room, so it's a social hangout spot while you wait for the ferry to arrive. I've only used the ferry itself once, and it was an easy experience. It can get EXTREMELY busy, so make sure to give yourself plenty of time. My favorite thing about the ferry building? THE VIEWS. The whole area is beautiful. It's right across the water from Mare Island, which make for beautiful scenery. Make sure to stay and walk around and enjoy the waterfront.

Can’t complain, fast, efficient , and quiet boat, only thing I can add is that they should and NEED to clean the windows so we can actually see out to the ocean

We love taking the Ferry from the Vallejo Ferry Building. It’s the perfect travel experience into San Francisco. There is a walkway along the water, a nice coffee shop, brewery and restaurants for convenience while waiting to catch the ferry.
Jennifer T — Google review
It’s an amazing adventure to get on this. Minus point is the size of the ship is kinda small.
Quang N — Google review
Absolutely avoid parking in the assigned parking area! It’s not worth it. You might as well drive to San Francisco yourself. My family and I drove down 3 hours for a Giants game. We thought taking the fairy would be fun. Came back and our Cadillac converter was stolen from our car. This WAS DONE IN PURE DAYLIGHT. This place definitely lacks security. There is absolutely no security cameras. Sketchy people parked all around that will sit there for hours watching people as they leave. Homeless tents everywhere and doubled the 3 hours we were gone. Last time we choose to go. Environment is not safe.
Da C — Google review
The Ferry ride was fine. We parked in Vallejo and took the Ferry to SF , and stayed 3 nights. We came back and our car was broken into. Broke the small window in the back. Nothing was stolen but they went through my cargo bag.
Saskia M — Google review
This was lots of fun. I can see why people chose this method of transportation over BART! It was spacious, clean, there were bathrooms, had a great view, you can eat and drink on the ferry too! I don't know why it took me so long to try this. It was a little more expensive than other forms of commuting, but definitely worth it! On the return trip, there was a Ferry employee that told us stories and made everyone laugh. It was great weather and lots of fun to sit outside and watch the water! I don't ever want to take BART to get to San Francisco again! Once it got dark, it was such a treat to enjoy the lights from the deck. I would like to ride the ferry every day.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

Water & Amusement Parks
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo is a massive amusement park offering high-speed roller coasters and thrilling rides, along with wildlife attractions. The park features adrenaline-pumping experiences like Batman the Ride, Boomerang Coast to Coaster, and Dare Devil Chaos Coaster. It caters to visitors of all ages with family-friendly rides and slower-paced options for kids. As part of the Six Flags chain, it combines exhilarating rides with animal attractions, making it a popular destination in Vallejo City.
I visited Six Flags Discovery Kingdom on July 1st and had an incredible experience that far exceeded my expectations. While the park was a bit crowded earlier in the day, the crowds thinned out significantly after 2 PM, making it easy to enjoy the rides with little to no wait. I started the day with The Joker, which is always a thrilling choice to kick things off. I followed it up with two back-to-back rides on Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth, which delivered the usual adrenaline rush. The highlight of the day, however, was my experience on Medusa. Not only was the ride nearly a walk-on in the afternoon, but the operator was also incredibly accommodating, allowing multiple re-rides. I ended up riding Medusa 17 times, most of them in the front row – an absolutely unforgettable experience. What made this visit stand out was the stark contrast to a previous weekday visit where I waited nearly three hours just to ride Medusa in row 8. This time, the weekday strategy truly paid off – the park was far more relaxed, and operations were smooth and efficient. I highly recommend visiting on a weekday if you're looking to get the most out of your time and enjoy your favorite attractions multiple times. All in all, it was an amazing day filled with thrills, minimal wait times, and outstanding ride operations. I left the park both exhausted and extremely satisfied. I’ll definitely be returning again soon!
Nicollas B — Google review
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is, overall, a nicely designed park that offers an interesting mix of thrill rides, family attractions, and animal exhibits – somewhere between a zoo and a theme park. 🎢🦓 The park is clean, well laid out, and has something for everyone. Up until about 5 PM, I had a really good time – great atmosphere, nice weather, and a fun day overall. One big plus was the Oktoberfest event that happened during my visit. 🍺 Of course, it doesn’t quite reach the level of a real German Oktoberfest, but I have to give them credit – they put a lot of effort into making it feel authentic with themed decorations, music, and matching food and beer. It was a really fun and well-done touch that added to the experience. 🎶🥨 And I say that as a German. Unfortunately, things went downhill later in the evening. I went across the street to check in at my hotel and tried to re-enter the park at 6:10 PM for the Halloween event, but was denied re-entry because of a park policy stating that guests can only re-enter until 6:00 PM. The park wasn’t even close to being full, so the rule felt unnecessary and inflexible. Even after speaking with a supervisor, there was no exception, no understanding, no real effort to help. That’s sadly the kind of poor customer service Six Flags is known for – sticking rigidly to rules instead of showing flexibility or basic guest consideration. It’s especially disappointing because I would have gladly spent more time (and money) in the park that evening, especially with the Halloween and Oktoberfest activities going on. On top of that, the ride operations were, as usual for Six Flags, very slow and inefficient – dispatches often took five to seven minutes per train, which kills the pacing of the day and causes unnecessary waits. Bottom line: A nice park overall, with an interesting mix of rides and animals and a well-organized Oktoberfest that showed real effort and heart. But the lack of flexibility and poor customer service left a bad impression. With better operations and a more guest-friendly attitude, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom could easily be a top-tier park – unfortunately, this visit left me with mixed feelings and just two stars.

Fright Fest was fun and the Halloween decorations were really good! They turned on fog machines as soon as it got dark and had scary characters walking around. My son had soo much fun it was like being in a real haunted graveyard. It was a long walk from the parking lot to get to entrance I suggest dropping people off by the front. They have great roller coasters. We rented a locker for $22 which was soo helpful. The average wait for all rides was 45 min to 2 hours so that was tough for a group of boys under 12 yo. If the lines were quicker I would give it 5/5. It's a long walk back to the parking lot.
Samantha F — Google review
I had a great time at Six Flags even though a lot of the reviews I see are negative. Good: - We got the FLASH Premium pass and it was absolutely the right call - we barely waited in line, and when the Batman ride opened at night we got on after about 15 min in line instead of 90 minutes - We went for the Fright Fest as well, and the mazes were well done! I liked the haunted mansion the best, club fear wasn't that great since it was very empty and not as many actors inside. The spooky vibes were great and the actors seemed to have a good time - My favorite rides were the Joker, Batman, and the Wonder Woman Lasso ride, that's definitely the longest ride. Superman was also high thrill. - The park wasn't super busy on a Saturday, and parking was easy as well. Very walkable - Dolphin show had cool tricks, but the talk track is definitely for kids Bad: - Food is really expensive, $20 for basically a single slice of pizza and salad - Gets really hot during the day, but cool during the night so bring layers Overall this was a really great experience and would come again
Jenny X — Google review
What a mighty park for its size! Good variety of roller coasters and friendly park staff. Lines are long as usual but if you can afford a flash pass it makes the day that much more enjoyable. The cool thing is they have a mini zoo in the back of the park. The animals were so cool to look at and offered a nice change to the loud and hectic front of the park.
Christopher V — Google review
Great park! Grab a flash pass if you're visiting for the day, they have some fantastic coasters that you'll want to ride multiple times! Scare Feat was meh, I wouldn't pay for any of the mazes again, but it was great to ride their iconic coasters at night.
James S — Google review
It use.to be a great place for rides and animals, but it's depressing to see less animals and expensive to eat, perhaps they offer more over the summer. I went in late October, only offered the dolphin and walrus show, dolphin show was cute, the walrus show was boring. The aquarium is a joke, like 1 small shark, 1 or 2 nurse shark, a handful of big fish. The cheetahs were active though and plenty of them compared to other animals. A lunch of burger, fries and a drink for one person is 30! Funnel.fries were good but 17 bucks is crazy. They don't take cash
Ange — Google review
It's decent. Some rides gave me a headache and would not recommend. Food is decently price and around the same price you'd get at any other cedar fair parks. Their scare fest is really small and very wimpy than from what I've expected. But overall, their sea lion and dolphin shows were great!

Cline Family Cellars, located in the Carneros AVA of Sonoma Valley, is renowned for its sustainable farming practices. The vineyard employs a large herd of sheep and goats to maintain the vineyards while also utilizing composting, cover crops, and solar energy. Visitors can meet the two miniature donkeys that reside on the property.
A very lovely place to taste some great wines and enjoy a day. They got their start in Contra Costa County in the 80s squeezing some fantastic wines out of 100-year-old vines. Beautiful grounds - can be breezy, bring a jacket - and very inviting outdoor seating. Ask for Quinnie if you can - wonderful, knowledgeable, very personable, she'll make your afternoon. Keep your eyes open around the grounds and you might even catch a bit of California history. We immediately signed up for their wine club and will certainly be back.

We came to Cline Family Cellars on a Monday during vacation with our kids — and came back again on Tuesday because it was that good. The wines are beautifully crafted, and we especially loved tasting Cline’s “Shifting Tides” — elegant, smooth, and full of character. But this place is so much more than just wine. The grounds are open and peaceful, with so much to explore. There’s an original vintage train car, several ponds filled with fish you can feed, donkeys and plenty of open space. It’s crazy how relaxing and beautiful it can be — even with kids in tow. They were entertained and welcomed, and we had real time to enjoy ourselves. When we shared a personal story with a staff member, the owner came out to meet us. Their warmth, curiosity, and incredible generosity were beyond anything we’ve experienced at any winery, ever. We left with great wine and even better memories. Cline is a place we’ll return to again — and tell others about. Special thanks to Emma and Quinnie.

We dropped in unannounced but still treated to an amazing tasting. Wine was fabulous! The grounds were amazing from the mission, to the pond to the donkeys! Loved it all!!

What a beautiful garden and pond! Loved walking the grounds. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and our host Emma had a great sense of humor and immense wine knowledge. 4 stars for our awesome server & the beautiful outdoor area. Wines were ok nothing that we wanted to buy a bottle of. Kids are allowed outside (not sure about inside) so if you don't mind rugrats running & screaming all around your table, sit outside and enjoy the scenery.

We really enjoyed our time spent at Cline and hope to be back in the future. The grounds were beautiful and relaxed (heads-up, it was EXTREMELY kid friendly and felt more like a brew garden than a winery). This was easily the only wine we had on our most recent trip to napa that had a taste and experience in line with their pricing.

Jacuzzi Family Vineyards is a picturesque estate located in the Los Carneros and Sonoma Coast wine regions of California. The vineyard is known for preserving lesser-known Italian grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Barbera, and Nebbiolo. Established by the Jacuzzi family, the estate offers wine tastings on a veranda with stunning vineyard views and features a Tuscan-inspired courtyard. Visitors can also explore The Olive Press tasting room to discover highly acclaimed extra virgin olive oils.
A wonderful family-owned winery that also features an olive oil shop offering tastings alongside wine flights. The quality and pricing are truly outstanding. The tasting room is beautifully designed, with plenty of space and snack options to enjoy alongside your wine. We sampled the full selection of whites and reds and shared a charcuterie board with three types of cheeses, spiced almonds, and olives. They also serve bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar—absolutely delicious and a perfect pairing. The olive oil shop is impressive, with a wide variety of oils and vinegars. It was hard to choose because everything we tasted was excellent, but we eventually went with a few classic favorites. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. If you love wine, olive oil, and Mediterranean flavors, this spot delivers it all—at very reasonable prices. A must-visit!

Absolutely beautiful building and proiperty with mediocre wine and service. We came earlier in the day and thoroughly enjoyed an olive oil tasting at their “Pressed” location so we expected similar service here, but it fell short. The wines were decent, we bought a case, but there were only 2 we liked enough to buy. The guy who did our tasting seemed disconnected from us, though he tried to be pleasant. Overall, we weren’t impressed.

We visited this winery on a Wednesday and were able to walk in for a wine tasting without a reservation. Our server was very knowledgeable and gave us information on each wine, where the grapes grew, and other interesting facts about the family. We ordered a charcuterie board and also sampled the olive oils in their olive oil shop. We stayed in Sausalito and were able to get here in about 45 minutes.

Beautiful place to spend an afternoon tasting wines. We found the place while driving and were not disappointed. They have gorgeous outdoor seating where we enjoyed their wine looking out the vast field of the vineyard. Their food menu is not extensive yet the choices will fill you up. We ended up ordering pizza with bruschetta. We were a group of 4 so we tried their white & red wine. The prices were reasonable for a bottle and the wines were really good. You can bring kids but i would recommend making an adult trip to this place.

We had a great experience at the bar with the bartenders Sam and Tim, after taking a look in the shop there and trying some pretty spectacular olive oils and balsamics. I bought a 6 pack that I put together with my favorites and just know I will be bummed when I run out, being from Chicago will make it hard to just go and stock up again but wow their carmalized onion balsamic is beyond words. I ended up joining the wine club because of how amazing the service and wine was. The chocolate wine shot was fun. The wine is poured directly into a piece of chocolate. Beautiful property and A++ would recommend.

I'm from Utah. This is my favorite winery, hands down. Everyone is so accommodating, the wine is fantastic, the grounds are phenomenal, and the experience is always the best. I bring cases of wine home because I can't get it in Utah. I could rattle off a handful of different times where everyone; like literally the whole winery went above and beyond to appease me. I visit every year. Multiple times in some years, and Jacuzzi is just always a high mark above...everywhere else. *FAVORITE*

Great downtown area, very walkable with a unique variety of shops, restaurants and tasting rooms. Spent much more time in this concentrated area than anticipated. Great people, great experiences, great time.

The museum staff were so kind and knowledgeable. We took our grandkids, and they really enjoyed looking at all the large planes. They were able to even get in a space shuttle capsule that goes up and down. Reading the history of the planes was very interesting. This is definitely worth a visit. It's free to everyone. Donations are greatly appreciated. Once again, the staff were all so pleasant and kind. Take a moment out of your day and visit. They might be closed on Sunday's and holiday's.

Impressive collection of military aircraft outdoors and indoors. Extensive displays indoors featuring Desert Storm, the Berlin Airlift, Tuskegee Airmen, Vietnam and prisoners of war, an engine room, WW2 training aircraft, military transports and an atomic bomb replica. Volunteers were wonderful! Thank you.

Absolutely enjoyed this musuem. The wonderful volunteers are fantastic and have so much knowledge. The displays are a precious piece of our Aviation History. So overjoyed it's being preserved. Thank you!
YaquiGirl A — Google review
If you are in the area, take the time to sign up further Heritage Center so you can get onto the base and visit the museum. It is well worth the effort to sign up and spend half a day walking around and looking at all the aircraft. The photos of the patches are from the patch bored, so bring your patches if you want to leave them at the museum.. And the last photo is of the women's restroom, which is the fanciest restroom I've seen anywhere so far.
Angella R — Google review
The museum is a great one with plenty to see. There are planes outside and a few inside. They even have a replica of a Fat Man Atom bomb. Because it's on an active military base, you need to check in at the visitor center first. Make sure you have 2 forms of government IDs.Then someone will come and drive you to the museum.
Paul S — Google review
Great place to see AF history and cool planes. The WASP section needs a bit more content. Dusting and cleaning are needed. Great place to bring kids. The lighting is harsh inside (florescent) which makes photography difficult.
Anna T — Google review
A nice but small aviation museum (4-5 star quality but a 2-3 star size). It gives some account of the historic significance of this base.... first supersonic flight, etc., as well as a small sample of some early space exploration test vehicles, and late model tactical aircraft.
Chuck — Google review
Make sure u have proper ID to enter the base. U need a real ID driver's license or passport Are preferred. Then enjoy . This base is air lift base so all about transport and re fueling plans for the most part

Nestled in the Coombsville AVA just minutes from downtown Napa, Palmaz Vineyards is a must-visit for wine enthusiasts. This unique vineyard seamlessly blends tradition with cutting-edge technology in winemaking. The family-owned estate produces a variety of wines including cabernet, chardonnay, muscat, riesling, and rose. What sets Palmaz Vineyards apart is its 18-story subterranean winery carved into the base of Mount George.
Our visit to Palmaz Vineyards was an outstanding experience. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the breathtaking scenery. It was the perfect time of year, just before Bud-break, with blooming trees and vibrant flowering shrubs enhancing the beauty of the surroundings. The tour itself was a standout experience. Jordan, our guide, was fantastic. His in-depth storytelling about the vineyard's rich history and the founders' journey added a personal and compelling touch to the visit. The facility is an absolute masterpiece, showcasing stunning landscapes, caves, architecture and immaculate attention to detail. We were equally impressed by the innovative integration of technology and engineering, seamlessly designing the winery into the mountainside, which enhanced our appreciation for the intricate winemaking process. It gave us a deeper appreciation for the dedication and craftsmanship behind each bottle. The tasting itself was the cherry on top. an unforgettable exploration of truly exquisite wines. Palmaz Vineyards has set the gold standard for winery experiences. We can’t recommend it enough!
Anthony M — Google review
WOW. I wish I could correctly articulate how fantastic Palmaz was. You are warmly welcomed as soon as you arrive and there is a spacious waiting area. If you are a technology geek and wine lover, this will be heaven for you. I understand the expensive price tag, but what is $150/pp feels like $500 with beautiful and tasty accoutrements. This was winery 4/4 for us on our trip. Cannot recommend Jordan enough. He knows his stuff, doesn’t come off as “too cool for school” and knew the answer to every question. He would absolutely be invited to a family dinner. Thank you so much, Jordan! PS There was no pressure to buy bottles or join a membership, which made purchasing more enticing.
Sydney M — Google review
Wow! Our visit to Palmaz was unbelievable. Great wines, great tasting, great service. Trey was our guide and he made sure we were very well taken care of! His insights, hospitality and recommendations really helped shape our experience in Napa in the best way. The tour was great, informative but not stuffy. The grounds were beautiful and I can’t even begin to speak on how impressive the novel, data driven approach to winemaking is.

Beautiful high tech hillside location. Production process features gravity movement of product and amazing technology. Facility is well appointed. Tour guides very friendly and super knowledgeable of their vineyard and wine in general. Superb tasting experience and tour.

Did a private wine tour and food pairing, and it was such a great experience. Celeste was our host and she was so sweet and knowledgeable. She made us feel totally at ease and brought the whole experience to life. The wines were fantastic, the food pairings were spot on, and the setting was beautiful. I’d come back just to see Celeste again and do another tasting with a bigger group. Highly recommend if you’re in Napa and make sure you ask for Celeste!

A showcase of technology and innovation. Amazing presentation in the fermentation room and great pairings for the tasting. Our guide Julio was super friendly.

We loved our tour and tasting. The technology and innovation is incredible. But this would all mean nothing if not for the amazing wines. This place really shows how much, despite all the technology, winemaking is still an art. And so very human.

Jarvis Estate Winery, located in Napa, is a hilltop winery offering tours and tastings in an underground cave. The winery's unique experience includes a waterfall within the cave that helps maintain optimal aging conditions for their wine in French Oak barrels. Visitors can also explore the Crystal Chamber featuring a collection of large quartz crystals and amethyst geodes before sampling their exceptional wines in the elegant Tasting Chamber.
We have been members of Jarvis for 4 years and counting now! Our first tour with Cora we became instantly hooked and made a friend for life! She is insanely knowledgeable on the wines, the area, and most importantly the friendliest and loveliest person you’ll meet. We have no brought multiple friends and family back for tours who have also joined! We attend their events year after year! And we hold their wines in a special place in our heart and consider some of our top top wines!! I could not recommend Jarvis and Cora if you can schedule her!! ❤️❤️❤️🍷🍷🍷
Jake R — Google review
Jarvis is the most incredible wine tasting experience I have ever had! As a long time Napa wine lover, and having experienced countless different wineries/varieties of tours, I can honestly say Jarvis goes above and beyond the rest! The tour is informative, fun & beautiful. The staff is the BEST! Their knowledge, passion, joy, and humor all shine through on each tour. It doesn’t matter who you get, trust me, it will be good! Cora and Rob have always taken Great care of us…if you’re lucky enough to get a tour with them, you’re in for an amazing time. And finally-the wines! WOW! We are absolutely hooked on Jarvis wines. They are some of the most beautiful wines we’ve ever had the opportunity to taste. My personal favorites are the Merlot, Tempranillo, and the Lake William blend. The Chardonnay is also a heavenly treat. Do yourself a favor and book a tour at Jarvis! You won’t regret it.
Anna C — Google review
Simply the best visitor experience in Napa Valley. When I have friends going out there, if they have time in their schedule for ONE winery to visit, I send them here. When you arrive, you enter a door leading into the side of hill. You are in for a spectacular tour and tasting. This cave looks like something a Bond Villian would have built. It’s unreal until you see it. And if they are really lucky, they will get Cora as their host. She’s one of, if not the best, doing it these days. And the wine? Come on. Lush Chardonnay, Exquisite Cabs and Merlot. Don’t sleep on the Tempranillo, it’s my favorite. And their Lake William will stand toe to toe with any Bordeaux you can bring. It’s that good. Come see for yourself. But be careful, you WILL want to join their club.

Such an incredibly and unique winery that is a must-do. If you only have time for one winery, you need to make a reservation to tour this winery. The cave is unlike anything you’ve seen or can expect, but the photos you see from others on these reviews are 100% accurate. From the wine tasting to the waterfall to the tour, this winery does not miss. Special shoutout to David for the excellent tour!! 11/10 would recommend
Marc G — Google review
A stunning tour with even better wines. Having taken the tour a few times, both Isiah and David provide excellent curated experiences filled with interesting winery history, funny stories, and a flair for the dramatic. Jarvis is a must for both the experienced and novice wine fan.

I fell in love with Cabernet Franc bc of Jarvis ..it was my “AHA moment”. The cave is truly epic, and the team, including Cora, Sil, and Ted, are BEYOND delightful and have created many memorable experiences for us. The harvest tasting and ball are truly exceptional experiences, with meticulous attention to detail and thoughtfulness. If you are lucky enough to attend one of these events you will be blown away !
Lesley V — Google review
We probably would have skipped this stop, but it was still interesting to see. The winery itself is very cool and has a unique vibe, but the experience didn’t quite live up to the price. At $150 per person, you’re given maybe 5 oz total of wine, and the tasting happens only at the end — after doing the entire tour without any wine in hand. The tasting portion lasted about 30 minutes. We came as a couple and were grouped with six others (eight total plus the guide), which kept it intimate but it’s still a group tour. It’s a bit out of the way, and there’s no cell service at the winery, so rideshare isn’t ideal (though technically possible). The wine was also some of the priciest — and honestly our least favorite — of our Napa trip. Total time was 80 minutes which was also the shortest visit out of all the wineries we went to, which is more ironic considering how long their tour portion is. Everyone we met there was very friendly and the setting was undeniably cool, but overall it’s not an experience I’d recommend to friends when there is so much to do in Napa.
Amy V — Google review
I visited Jarvis Winery and it was absolutely amazing! The entire experience from the stunning cave setting to the beautifully crafted wines was unforgettable. Frog's Leap Winery in Rutherford is a family-friendly working farm where kids and leashed dogs can enjoy meeting chickens, spotting frogs in the fish pond, and exploring beautiful gardens. The Garden Bar Tasting offers a more casual experience for visitors with children, allowing them to taste four wines while learning about the winemaking philosophy. The winery's commitment to organic farming is evident in its extensive gardens surrounding the farmhouse-like tasting room.
This winery has truly captured my heart. If I could visit only one winery, this would be the one. They’re among the most sustainable wine producers in the region, and it shows. The space feels deeply connected to nature—beautifully integrated with thoughtfully designed landscapes, animals, and plants that bring the grounds to life. It’s a well-organized natural sanctuary. Absolutely fantastic. Their Cabernet is especially impressive. It’s the kind of place you could easily spend hours enjoying—and still not want to leave.

A different vibe than some of the other wineries in the area— in a good way. Frog’s leap feels down to earth, and friendly. We brought a dog and enjoyed the selection of wonderful wines while exploring the gardens and taking in the sights of the beautiful grapes. I had a great time, just note there’s no outside food allowed, which I believe is a county regulation, so make sure to snack up before you go!
Ellie R — Google review
Frog’s Leap is a beautiful winery—the gardens are stunning, and there are a variety of charming seating areas that make for a relaxing visit. We arrived a bit late and appreciated that they still accommodated us, though it meant the tasting felt a bit rushed. The wines were good, but considering the price, we expected a more engaging experience. The tasting focused mostly on flavor notes; we would’ve enjoyed more background, stories, or insights about the winery and its history. Still, a lovely setting and a nice stop in Napa overall.

My step son recommended Frog's Leap, and I'm glad we listened! The wines are spectacular, and the property is absolutely gorgeous. The gardens invite one to release the stress of life and relax. We had a nice visit to Mumm Napa - this was not our first visit, nor was it our best. This winery attracts a lot of “girl groups” so it has really changed from the experiences in the past. It has the feel of a bachelorette party (it’s all very pink and party vibe) now instead of a nice, relaxing spot. I’m sure that is super fun for those partaking in the groups, but it’s not the vibe we had known in previous visits. I love the sparkling wine at Mumm, it is always delicious - however my husband was disappointed to learn that they no longer serve the delicious still Pinot Noir we had enjoyed in previous visits. Still beautiful views and delicious sparkling wine!

Review for V. Sattui Winery - St. Helena, CA We had a wonderful experience wine tasting at V. Sattui Winery. The reservation process was simple and straightforward, and check-in at the front was quick and pleasant. We were seated right away at the Mercato Bar, where Jacob, our Bar Sommelier, made the experience exceptional. He was knowledgeable, energetic, and genuinely welcoming, which set a great tone for our visit. The wines we sampled were delicious, and the cheeseboard was excellent -- especially the tiny yellow pickle peppers, which became my favorite item. The on-site market offers a great selection of snacks, and all of their wines are available for purchase to take home. This winery also has a beautiful outdoor area, making it perfect for a date or a picnic. The grounds are stunning, and the staff were consistently kind and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would happily return.
C L — Google review
The V. Sattui Winery in St. Helena is definitely representative of the more traditional Italian vineyard. I went with my family in early July 2025, and immediately felt as if I had been whisked away to Tuscany. Despite the stunning architecture, there was quite a bit of construction 🚧 happening - and much of the vineyard seemed to be cordoned off. We decided to visit the vineyard the day of, and this was no problem because we didn’t need a reservation. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and open to patrons that purchase wine. It has a relaxed, picnic-friendly vibe which equally made it inviting. Their wines for sale were plentiful and well-curated, with standout Chardonnays and a few delightful surprises among the rosé and dessert wines. The on-site deli is a great bonus - and perfect for grabbing small bites, sandwiches or charcuterie to enjoy on the lawn. Overall the staff were super friendly despite being very busy, and the wines we tried were delicious!

Wine tasting made easy and affordable! Also a lot of fun when Bart and Eduardo team up to serve the customers. It’s difficult to find a place that offers such a wide range of grapes and varieties. The tasting customers sit around a large ring shaped bar. The premium tasting consists of five wines. There’s no rush and tasters have plenty of time to clear their pallet prior to moving to the next wine. We had a blast and suggest you give it a go.

We visited Sattui Winery in Napa and enjoyed the beautiful grounds and relaxed picnic area. The tasting experience was nice, with a good variety of wines to choose from. The deli had a great selection of cheeses and snacks to pair with the wine. However, it can get quite crowded, especially on weekends, and parking may be a bit tricky. Overall, it’s a charming place to spend an afternoon, especially if you enjoy casual outdoor wine tasting.

For the ones that believe in divine intervention, this review is for you. My husband and I decided to celebrate our 10 year anniversary at this winery. We had a tasting booked for 12 o’clock. The grounds were gorgeous and beautiful. It was a perfect day for wine tasting. Once we entered the tasting room, we were going to the bar to the To the right of the room, but something in my spirit told me to go all the way to the back bar, and that is when I was able to be served by Justin. His customer service was superb. For once in my life, I did not feel like I was a black woman in Napa standing out, but I just felt like I was an individual being taken care of the right way. Justin just made you feel important. I do not know what y’all pay Justin but he definitely deserves a raise. and this was my first time coming to the winery just an FYI!

V. Sattui Marketplace offers an overwhelming and truly impressive shopping experience that stands apart from the typical winery visit. The marketplace provides a gigantic, meticulously curated selection of specialty foods. The cheese and charcuterie offering alone is massive, showcasing exceptional quality across various styles and origins. Beyond the meats and cheeses, you can find a breadth of local and imported olive oils and other gourmet items. If you are looking to build the perfect picnic basket with high intensity flavors and complex, ready-to-eat pairings, the V. Sattui Marketplace is the definitive destination in Napa Valley.

HALL Wines St. Helena is a picturesque winery located at the base of the Mayacama Mountains, featuring a 35-foot tall Bunny Foo-Foo sculpture and contemporary art spread across its 33-acre property. The historic Bergfeld Vineyard, originally planted in 1859, adds to the charm of this relatively new vineyard that offers over 500 acres of Bordeaux varietals with a focus on red wine.
Ron did our signature tour — we had a fantastic time learning all about the vineyard and wine making process. We loved the cab savs we tried. Hands down our favorite vineyards in the valley! Highly recommend!

4 Stars: Beautiful, But Maybe Less Is More HALL Wines in St. Helena is absolutely stunning – like a wine lover’s Pinterest dream come true. From the sleek, modern architecture to the artfully curated vineyards, it’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re on a movie set… except with wine, not drama. The wines? Well, they were… fine. Nothing mind-blowing, but definitely drinkable. I was here with a large group, and while it’s definitely set up for that – tons of room and perfect for a group selfie – it felt a little crowded. My suggestion? Go solo or with just a few people to really soak in the vibe. If you’re like me and enjoy the quiet elegance of your surroundings, a smaller group might let you appreciate it more (and get served faster). Overall, worth a visit, just maybe scale down your entourage for maximum enjoyment!

Must visit for Cabernet Sauvignon lovers! The winery is totally stunning, thanks to Kathryn Hall’s taste in art and design. We got to try several different Cab’s during the tasting which were delicious. We did a basic tasting at the bar, which still felt personalized thanks to our wine educator who shared the stories and science with each glass. This is exactly what we were looking for while in Napa.

Hall is our favorite tasting experience in the valley, so much so that we became members a few years ago. Current wine tasting price is $60 for non members as of 2025. We always have a great experience when we visit hall, no matter who is our host, the service is unparalleled to any other winery in the valley that we have been to. Our Favorite hosts are Joego and Ray, both are very well experienced, friendly, knowledgeable and always provide excellent customer service. While all the wines are excellent a couple of my favs are the Knights Valley Sauvignon Blanc, The Bergfeld and the diamond mountain cab. You cant go wrong with hall, it's always a pleasure visiting!
Joshua E — Google review
The property is breathtaking, with carefully curated art that perfectly complements the aesthetic of the cabs. From the moment you arrive, you feel as though you’ve been transported to a grand estate, a harmonious blend of modern elegance and old-world charm. As someone who has studied fashion and sustainability, I was particularly drawn to the intentional design and artwork, especially as you ascend the staircase to the tasting room. Each piece feels purposeful, adding layers to the experience. The staff were warm and personable, expertly guiding us through The Art of Cabernet tasting. They shared fascinating details about the vineyard’s history, its visionary owners, and the captivating art on each bottle. After the tasting, we took our time strolling the grounds, soaking in the serene beauty of the estate. If you’re planning a trip to the area, we absolutely recommend booking a visit and, if you can, joining their wine club to savor these remarkable wines for years to come. I truly loved this place! It’s an experience not to be missed.
