Maroon Bells is a must-see destination with iconic mountain peaks towering over 14,000 feet. Accessible via a shuttle bus, the scenic viewing area offers breathtaking views of rugged mountains, babbling streams, and fields of wildflowers surrounding turquoise blue lakes. Even a leisurely stroll around Maroon Lake, just 5 minutes from the parking lot, provides stunning vistas and opportunities to spot wildlife. For those seeking a short but rewarding hike, the approximately 3.
It is soooo worth the hike to Crater Lake! The trail is super rocky, good hiking shoes are a MUST but you will NOT regret the reward at the end. Reservations for the shuttle are easily made online and I highly recommend the shuttle.
Michelle H — Google review
Majestic and Family-Friendly Spot! Maroon Bells is a truly majestic place with breathtaking views, scenic walking trails, clean restrooms, and picnic tables. It’s family and pet friendly; accessible for everyone. The main trail is suitable for walkers, wheelchairs, and strollers. If you have a handicap tag or plate, you’re allowed to drive up to the entrance and purchase a vehicle pass without needing a reservation. You can go up at any time of the day — no advance booking is required for vehicles with handicap tags or plates. For all other visitors, you must make a reservation in advance with a specific time slot. If you buy a shuttle ticket for a certain time and arrive late, you’ll need to wait in line and board a later bus only if there’s space available. Parking is paid and collected upon arrival. If you wish to drive your own car, make sure to arrive before 8:00 AM — after that, access to the mountain is only allowed via the shuttle bus. Hope this helps anyone planning to visit!

We very much enjoyed the Maroon Bells - stunning views, the shuttles were great to get us there and back. Would definitely return again.
Angela D — Google review
Great hike to Crater Lake. Try to get there early with the shuttle. It a moderate hike with some elevation a lot of boulders and rocks but it's worth while. It's like walking on the moon
Iris M — Google review
A very beautiful place — definitely a must-visit! I recommend buying a parking ticket on the website in advance, as same-day tickets might be sold out. Also, photos and videos are allowed after 5 PM. If you want the sunlight on the mountain (not behind it), come in the first half of the day.
Olha K — Google review
Maroon Bells is widely celebrated for its breathtaking scenery, tranquil atmosphere, and the variety of accessible hiking trails suitable for all skill levels. Visitors regularly describe it as “absolutely stunning,” “awe-inspiring,” and “one of the loveliest places on earth” due to the uninterrupted views of towering snow-capped peaks, crystal-clear Maroon Lake, lush aspen forests, and vibrant wildflowers throughout different seasons. Reviews emphasize the well-marked and maintained trails, including the easy scenic loop for families and those with mobility issues, with more challenging routes leading to Crater Lake for adventurous hikers. Wildlife spotting—including mule deer, moose, foxes, and beavers—is common beside serene lakes and meadows, enhancing the experience even further. While the area itself receives five-star ratings for natural beauty, visitors express concerns over increasing shuttle and parking costs, and the need to plan ahead for entry passes, bus rides, and arrival times due to recent crowd management measures. Despite the logistical hurdles, most reviewers agree the unique landscape, dramatic views, and peaceful ambiance make Maroon Bells a must-see destination in Colorado, especially during summer and fall We were able to visit in mid October and took the help of the shuttle bus and it was a blessing in disguise. Crowd was less and was more enjoyable.
Sayan S — Google review
We arrived at Aspen Highlands where we parked the car and took a bus ride that took about 20 minutes to the site. There are several easy trails around the lake and also the option of more difficult treks. We traveled in June and the conditions were pleasant, a light jacket was enough. It is worth reserving a place in advance for parking or transportation.
Yossi G — Google review
I love it! It's an easy round trail. If you would like a more challenging hike, you could take the trail to Crater Lake. Before going, people should buy round-trip shuttle tickets online. Remember the last bus of the day.

Visitors can enjoy the lush flower garden and tranquil atmosphere, making it a must-visit even for non-fans. The sanctuary offers a peaceful escape for contemplation and exploration, with a children's area adding an extra touch of fun for families.
Beautiful walk through a stream with stepping stones, beautiful flowers, etched rocks, and peaceful surroundings. Special moments with lyrics and poetry, remembering the great John Denver.

A Beautiful Tribute to a Musical Legend What an absolutely magical experience! The John Denver Sanctuary in Aspen is a hidden gem that captures the heart and soul of one of Colorado’s most beloved artists. Walking through this peaceful sanctuary feels like stepping into John’s world - each engraved stone tells a piece of his story through his own words, lyrics, and reflections. The setting is breathtaking, perfectly positioned along the Roaring Fork River with the stunning Aspen landscape as a backdrop. It’s exactly the kind of place John would have loved - serene, natural, and inspiring. Reading his memories carved into the stones while surrounded by the mountains and nature he sang about so beautifully gave me chills. The sanctuary is thoughtfully designed, allowing visitors to meander at their own pace and really absorb the words and music that meant so much to him. Whether you’re a longtime fan or just discovering his legacy, this place offers a deeply moving experience. I found myself humming “Rocky Mountain High” as I walked the peaceful paths. This is more than just a memorial - it’s a celebration of an artist who truly understood the beauty of Colorado and shared that love with the world. A must-visit for anyone in Aspen who appreciates music, nature, or simply wants a moment of reflection in a truly special place. Highly recommend taking your time here and bringing a camera - the combination of meaningful words and natural beauty makes for an unforgettable visit.

Beautiful place. We had trouble finding the actual walk. There was a homeless guy sleeping in some trees by the river tho. But we had a short wander, cruised an old bridge, saw some art, said we would come back next visit.
Kelly H — Google review
I loved this place. Went there several times during my stay in Aspen. It is so well manicured and beautiful in the morning and sunset. I took a million pictures and became John Denver fan!
Danielly P — Google review
Very nice way to honor John Denver. The sanctuary is well thought out and a tribute to his love of nature. The rock garden can be emotional with the lyrics of some of his most popular songs on them. Parking can be a challenge. There were games going on in the adjacent park, so had to park down the street.
Dennis G — Google review
The John Denver Sanctuary is pure magic. Peaceful paths, inspiring words carved into stone, and an atmosphere that feels like shooting hoops up in the sky ⛹🏼 Everything here is serene, uplifting, and unforgettable.
Andrew S — Google review
Even in light rain this place is beautiful and Free. Footing can be a little tricky when wandering. Not really wheelchair friendly.
Alice T — Google review
As a John Denver fan, I figured I would love this place, but it exceeded expectations. The flowing water and manicured grounds provided by this little sanctuary are incredibly well conceived. The fall colors during peak week made the garden pop. Highly recommended during the first week of October for anyone looking to breathe in some peace and serenity, not just those who appreciate Denver's songwriting. Insightful quotes and beautiful scenery are a perfect way to reflect, regardless of your taste in music.

As we travel (see our web site) sometimes things don't go as planned,  but that's all part of the adventure!  As we were held back in Colorado and 3 feet of snow, you take advantage of it.  Snowmobiling!  We took a beautiful 2.5 hour drive through the mountains to Monarch Pass & Monarch Snowmobile Tours.  The drive was worth every minute. Kyle, the owner & and veteran, was awesome from the day he took our call until the time we left with a cup of hot chocolate.  The price included all the clothing & and amazing tour guide (Shep).  If you're looking for a wonderful experience of snowmobiling & learning history of the area, this is the place to go.  We guarantee you won't regret it!  Enjoy!
Eric A — Google review
Had a great time on our tour . We were first time riders and had a blast. After our tour we met the owner and talked and discovered that he was from Georgia. It was nice meeting him and the staff. Great prices and great experience. When we go back to Colorado, definitely going to stop by and have another go at it. Highly recommend Monarch Snowmobile Tours. 5 out 5
Milton F — Google review
My wife and I had a great experience on the two hour tour that was led by Sean. He was a friendly and extremely capable guide that was clear in his instructions and explanations and had the safety of our group as a top priority. He provided good information and history about the areas we were in and had a good sense of humor. Everyone we interacted with at the company was super friendly and we hope to make it back to the area to try one of the longer tours.
Tate B — Google review
Excellent place for beginners like my wife and I. We enjoyed the training, the tour guide’s, the equipment was excellent, and the entire experience was rewarding!

This was our second time going on a snow mobile tour. We had a blast! Our tour guide was so chill and fun to hang out with and treated us like family. His wife was wonderful and welcomed us in too! The hospitality, general based knowledge and safety measures were phenomenal. The tour was more than perfect. The 3 hour session was the right amount of time. We plan on coming back every year! Thank you Monarch Snowmobile Tours!!! You guys rock!
Chloe C — Google review
Our trip with Monarch with Emilio was nothing short of an amazing lifetime experience. We absolutely loved him and had so much fun! The check in and equipment process was very fast and efficient. I’d recommend renting a full set. Emilio made sure we were comfortable and warm. Your guide will load you up in the van and take you to the staging section of the sleds. There you’ll be educated on the machine and how to safely navigate. He will also tell you about the trails, hand signals to follow, etc. We were the only ones in our group on a double sled so we had more free rein on what exactly we wanted to do. We did 3 free ride sessions and went on 3-4 trails. I would recommend buying the $20 insurance because you just never know. If you’re a first time rider, get it. We were very comfortable riding and on one of the trails we hit really soft snow and got stuck. It sounds scarier than it was. Emilio was great at helping us get out and back on track. There’s free hot cocoa back at the shop and a fireplace which you’ll likely need on your way back. We did 3 hours but I think you could be just fine with 2. Thank you so much Monarch for such a great time! We left talking about all of the amazing photo ops and scenery out there. You made our entire trip!
Tori L — Google review
This tour is one of the most highlighted event we experienced in Colorado! Drove 2 hours from Denver just to go to our early call time, we we're there early and was able to see great views and history throughout the mountain. Our guide Shep telling us cool stories and great history in the abandoned mines. We had someone in our tour who kept getting lost or falling so we had the time to take tons of photos and appreciate the views they had to offer! We will definitely be back again for some more adventures with you guys!
Gelli C — Google review
Our family was a group of 10 (mostly) first time snow-mobilers and we had a great time. Everyone felt safe and properly educated. We rode through some trails, got some interesting tidbits of history about the area and had plenty of time for free riding and photos. Our guide Sean was attentive and always helpful. One thing to note is that upon arrival, they strongly recommend paying an extra $20 insurance, which limits your financial liability should you really damage your snow mobile. We also enjoyed complementary hot chocolate, a toasty fire, and some adorable furry friends to warm up with after the ride!

Beaver Creek Resort is a sizable ski destination featuring multiple mountains, three terrain parks, cross-country trails, and various events. Beaver Creek Sports offers gear and services for outdoor enthusiasts visiting the resort in both winter and summer. The Beaver Creek Highlands provides a relaxed location with direct access to the slopes and proximity to the village. The area's natural beauty is captivating year-round, offering scenic hiking trails in summer and vibrant foliage in fall.
I attended a conference at this resort during the month of June. They had plenty of activities and shopping available at the resort. I really liked the options of food and activities. I could see where this would be a good destination during the winter time for skiing as well.
Scot M — Google review
Beautiful gondola ride and scenic views from the top. I am not sure if It is year round or not but they have 5 person chairs and gondola cars running on the same lift. We had beautiful weather so we rode up on the open air chairs for the best view. I recommend that... weather permitting of course.
Bob B — Google review
We loved our week long stay. Our son had great ski school lessons with Sean in level 5. Truly a magical place. Exceptional skiing as well as an incredibly beautiful setting. We can’t wait to return.
Paul S — Google review
We just went to see Beaver Creek Resort for the first time. We walked around the Village. Very quaint, but a little expensive. I thoroughly enjoyed the art gallery, especially the whimsical photography. My favorite was the cowboy playing golf with a putter in one hand and a rifle in the other. His caddie was a buffalo with the bag of clubs slung over its back. It started to rain, so we ducked into Citrea for brunch. What a lucky break! Again, a little expensive, but very tasty. I recommend the French toast with berries, real maple syrup, and a scoop of maple ice cream. (I did gain three pounds over the weekend.)
Terry S — Google review
Beaver Creek is a really nice, fancy, and luxurious place to ski or snowboard. The resort feels upscale from the moment you arrive beautiful lodges, heated walkways, great service, and a super polished vibe. The terrain is fun and well-groomed, and the whole experience is top-notch. That said, I personally prefer Vail over Beaver Creek. Nothing compares to the back bowls in Vail they’re absolutely legendary and Vail can actually be more affordable, especially when comparing lodging and lift ticket options. Beaver Creek is still an amazing resort, perfect if you enjoy a quieter, more luxurious mountain experience. But if I had to pick one… Vail wins for me every time.
Rachel F — Google review
Beaver Creek Resort is truly amazing any time of year! The beauty of the area is breathtaking, and we absolutely love the charm of the town and the village. In the summer, the hiking is fantastic with scenic trails, and in the fall, the vibrant leaves are a stunning backdrop. Winter skiing here with our family is always a highlight. It’s such a family-friendly resort with something for everyone to enjoy. The Red Buffalo Express is our favorite spot to ski as a family, offering awesome and varied terrain. Plus, you can’t beat the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies they hand out daily at 3 PM—such a fun touch!
Seth R — Google review
1 of top 10 ski resorts in the world! Beaver Creek is a great Ski resort with slopes for everyone and no lines as the lifts are fast, it also has an incredible village full of choices of shopping, restaurants and bars. It’s was a surprise to find lifts closing at 3pm as I’m used the 4pm close times… Beano’s Cabin is a great visit for great creative food while skiing, Chase is an awesome server and GM Ben runs a great ski restaurant. Check out the chicken pot pie
Eoghain O — Google review
Beaver Creek Ski Resort is the epitome of luxury and family-friendly skiing. From the moment you arrive, the attention to detail is exceptional, making every guest feel special. The slopes cater to all skill levels, from perfectly groomed beginner runs to challenging expert trails like Birds of Prey. Even during peak times, lift lines are minimal, ensuring more time on the mountain. The resort’s charm lies in its thoughtful touches. Daily “Cookie Time” at 3 p.m., where warm, fresh cookies are handed out, is a delightful highlight. The ski school is phenomenal, with patient instructors who build confidence and skills, making it perfect for families and beginners. The village is enchanting, with heated walkways, boutique shops, and cozy accommodations all within easy reach of the lifts. Mountain dining is top-notch, offering gourmet meals in picturesque settings. The après-ski scene is relaxed yet sophisticated, ideal for unwinding by a fire or enjoying fine dining. Service throughout the resort is unmatched, with friendly staff who go above and beyond. Beaver Creek offers a seamless blend of world-class skiing, exceptional service, and a welcoming atmosphere. It’s an unforgettable destination for anyone seeking a perfect winter getaway. I can’t wait to return!

Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort

Mentioned on
1 list
Hotel
Spas & Wellness
Nestled in the picturesque mountains of Colorado, Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort offers elegant lodging with a range of amenities. The resort boasts natural hot spring pools and creek hot pots, providing a tranquil and relaxing experience amidst stunning mountain views. Additionally, guests can enjoy on-site dining, sport courts, and a spa for ultimate relaxation. Families can also partake in activities such as bowling in nearby Salida or exploring the beautiful Chalk Creek Canyon at Mount Princeton Campground.
We didn’t stay at Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort this time, but several locals in Breckenridge told us it’s the best natural hot springs to visit — and they were right. It was easy to find and worth the trip. The resort itself has a really nice setup. There’s a small store on site (I didn’t get a chance to go in, but it looked great), and check-in was simple. The girl at the front desk was incredibly kind and helpful. I rented a locker, got changed in the clean changing rooms, and headed out to the springs. At first, you see the pools, which look like regular swimming pools but are naturally heated by the hot springs. Each pool varies a bit in temperature — one warmer than the other — so you can pick what feels best. The area also has lounge chairs and a gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains. The highlight, though, is down by the river. It’s a small, clear river with rocks and rapids running through it, and they’ve created little sections with big rocks where you can actually sit right in the water. The hot spring water flows in, keeping those spots warm, so you’re literally sitting in the river with warm water around you. Between the sound of the rippling water, the mountain backdrop, and the warmth of the springs, it was just an incredible experience. I’d definitely come back here again — and next time, I’d love to stay at the resort.
Shelley I — Google review
We We stayed at the Lodge, and while the resort itself has charm, the rooms really need attention. They’re very dated — even simple upgrades like a new shower head, a heated towel rack to help dry swimsuits and towels, and some fresh paint would make a big difference. Our king room unfortunately overlooked the hotel’s garbage area, which was disappointing. Not only was the view unpleasant, but when you opened the window, the smell from the old garbage was overwhelming. To make matters worse, the garbage pick-up came around 5–6 a.m. every morning, which was disruptive. The resort grounds are nice, and I’d love to bring my mother someday, but accessibility is a serious concern. There are so many steps with little to no hand railings, both leading to the pools and getting into them, which makes it unsafe and inaccessible for anyone with mobility challenges. We spent most of our time at the adult section in the three small hot springs, which were wonderful — but again, no hand railings made entering and exiting the pools a bit risky. On the positive side, the restaurant was outstanding. I have quite a few food allergies, and our server was amazing — she asked me to list them and then to let her know what I would like to order. I chose the blackened fish, and the chefs took great care to prepare a meal that was unbelievably delicious. The ease and confidence with which they handled my allergies completely took away the anxiety I usually feel when dining out, and I was able to truly relax and enjoy my meal. With some thoughtful updates, improved accessibility, and attention to the rooms, this could be an exceptional destination — and the dining experience is already excellent.

My wife and I just spent three nights at the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort. It was one of our nicest vacations ever. We stayed in The Creekside Suites part of the resort. The suite was spacious, well equipped, and clean. The room service was exceptional. The food in the lodge was extremely good. The food prices were reasonable. In fact, the prices for the food was cheap cheap compared to what we frequently pay for that quality of food in Massachusetts. We particularly enjoyed the location, because it allowed us to make day trips to Leadville and Buena Vista. My wife and I hope to return to this resort whenever we are in the area again.
David H — Google review
Really beautiful campus, nice hot springs. They could use more signage for the hillside and cliffside rooms, we ended driving the wrong way twice - nothing is lit up there and you can't even tell where you're going when it's dark. It's also hard to see people walking around in the dark. I wish the infinity pool was open longer, that and the spots in the rocks by the creek/river were our favorite places to soak. The food at the restaurant is really good, but pricy. Their pastry chef does wonderful things, I recommend getting dessert. Spa is okay, my favorite part of the massage package I got was the body scrub and the hot towel afterwards. Hillside rooms could be cleaner, I could tell the carpet was not the cleanest around the bed and nightstand, I wish these places would get rid of the carpet. It was nice to see the rooms include a Nespresso machine and pods! My favorite features of the room were the Nespresso pods and the water pressure in the shower. Overall, this resort was nice, but a bit pricey. They should consider adding signage and better lighting for folks trying to find their way in the dark.
Adriana M — Google review
It was a great trip. The atmosphere is very chill and relaxing. Managed to find a great spot for the wife and I. Got in the river and stayed for 3 hours. Well needed soak. Highly recommend. Next time I'll try out the pools. I was so comfortable where I was, I didn't want to give up the spot.
Jason H — Google review
Really, for $130 for two adults, for a day pass, this was not worth it. Feel better about yourself and stay at the Surf Hotel in Buena Vista if you choose to stay close and receive a way better experience for the prices they are charging here. I commend the restaurant for attempting to be "upscale" but honestly you'll find a better dining experience at Wesley and Rose in BV as well. We have lived in Salida for 8 years and this was our first time here, what a disappointment. For these prices you would have a way better feeling for the value of your money at Cottonwood or Sand Dunes Recreation in SLV. The customer service was flat and not very warming or welcoming.
Jonathan R — Google review
We stayed two nights in a cabin. Super comfortable for the 8 of us. So nice to have the fireplace, as it was cold. Heat was adjustable in each room, which was nice. We had a couple of issues with cookware, but the receptionist was super responsive. We loved the springs, borrowed mountain bikes and went for a 10 mile ride, mostly on the trail that used to be a narrow gauge railroad track! Super nice. We encountered a bit of snow, but it was fine on the bikes! We visited in October, so the long slide was closed, but plenty was open. We enjoyed the pools along the creek, especially!
Meemie C — Google review
We spent 3 nights at Mt. Princeton - we had one of the Creekside rooms which was right by the river (the view was gorgeous!) and felt like it had been recently renovated. We tried almost all of the natural spring-fed pools and our favorites were the natural river pools and the adults only spa pools. The service everywhere at the resort was friendly and fantastic. And the restaurant was amazing for both breakfast and dinner (reservations are needed for dinner only). I would highly recommend a visit to Mt. Princeton!

As a local and long time admirer of the area, I had the absolute pleasure of joining a 2 hour morning ride with a 7-year-old that I was babysitting for. Our wranglers, Nolan and Ben, were not only kind and knowledgeable, but also made us feel totally at ease. We rode two incredible horses, Howdy and Bourbon. Both gentle, responsive, and clearly well-loved. The ride offered stunning views of Mount Princeton that I've never seen before and crossing Chalk Creek was a magical moment for both me and the 7-year-old. We also Climbed up to a ridge that gave us a sense of adventure and a peaceful, grounded connection to the land. The entire experience was fun, safe and deeply memorable. The little girl hasn't stopped talking about it and I already can't wait to go back! Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike.

We had a group of six, and the trail ride exceeded our expectations. Ralph at the front desk, the employees who helped get us on our horses, and John our guide, all had welcoming personalities and happy to share their passion and knowledge. A couple of people in my group ride horses regularly, so it is nothing small to say our horses seemed very well cared for and happy to do their job. The trail was a lot of fun with a varied path of logs for us to go over, water to go through, and amazing scenery! The extra fun perk was the water bottle holder they have for each saddle! It was a really good time and I am happy to recommend them!

Absolutely wonderful trail ride! Our daughter's wedding was in Salida & we booked both families to enjoy a break before the Big Event! Mikayla & Austin were great. Both especially patient with our 5 year old Grandson. He LOVED every minute ❤️ Nothing better than leaf peeping from horseback. Three years ago. We did the sunset ride. That was amazing, too!!

Great lil 2hr trail ride if you’re looking for something to fill a piece of your day. I hear the longer rides are fantastic for those that are able to spend the time out on the trail. The Wranglers were awesome and kept everyone confident from age 6 on up throughout the ride. The owners are fantastic, friendly, and long time locals.

My son and I came here for his first time riding and I have to say this place is incredible. Our guide John was so helpful and it was great chatting with him during our ride. He explained to us that the owner started these stables as a way to help rescue horses and that is a mission I will always support. If you are in the area or visiting I highly recommend Mt Princeton Riding Stables. This will be our go to spot from now on! P.S. Thank you John, Bourbon and Shadow for riding with us in the snow!❤️❄️

Highly recommend the 2 hour trail ride! The scenery was beautiful, the horses are so sweet, and the guides are knowledgeable and helpful! We had a beautiful fall day and saw some stunning views and some wildlife (deer and prairie dogs)! There were also a ton of adorable barn cats! Would definitely do this ride again!

We took a 2 hour ride on June 13 2025 with our kids (ages 10 & 12) and our family has had no previous riding experience. Faith and Donovan we extremely patient and helpful when our horses started to get stubborn mid ride. They kept the ride entertaining and we knowledgeable about the area. Loved being able to cross through the creeks on my horse, Scout. This was definitely the highlight of our trip and thank you for the precious memories that were made!

We did the 3/4 day ride and unfortunately the trailer to get to the waterfall was stuckin the snow. However, we were given the option to still do the ride on another trail or come back another day to so the waterfall. We chose to ride the Ridgeline, which is the other trail, and it was gorgeous! I would definitely come back here. Both of the staff we interacted with were so friendly, and our wrangler was very lovely to chat with. Both the horses were well trained and made the ride very enjoyable. Also the 3 legged pup just made our day.

The museum shares stories of gold and silver mining in the region as well as the fascinating tale of the nearby Climax mine, which holds the title for being the world's largest molybdenum resource.
Very nice museam. Lots to take in and look at. Highly recommended.

Very informative ! This is a great place to learn about the history of mining in Leadville, State of Colorado and the entire United States. There is a lot of information for gold mining to coal mining and everything in between if your in Leadville and have an hour or so and want to check out the museum you won’t be disappointed. This is in the old school house we were told.

As a descendant of an immigrant miner and also Baby Doe on my husband's side, the museum held a lot of significance. The interactive exhibits were very realistic. You can spend a few hours here and learn quite a bit.

Awesome old School Building turning into a Mining Museum and Hall of Fame. Lots of cool mining facts and artifacts to see. There's an awesome Miniature room, and several immersive walk through rooms that transport you under the earth. Also didn't trigger my Claustrophobia at all.

The Leadville Railroad offers a scenic 2-hour train ride through the Arkansas River Valley forest, showcasing Colorado's highest peaks. The historic town of Leadville boasts Victorian architecture and a local, down-to-earth vibe. The train departs from a century-old depot and travels alongside the Arkansas River, providing views of Mt. Elbert. Depending on the season, passengers can enjoy wildflowers, fall foliage, or holiday lights during their journey.
This was a fantastic experience. The conductor did such a great job giving information about the area and pointing out places of interest. The scenery was incredible as the fall leaves were at their peak. I would recommend this ride to everyone.

This is a pretty cool thing to do. It takes about two and a half hours but you get to go on a nice train ride and the announcer is very well informed on everything about the town and surrounding areas. The seats are pretty comfortable which is nice. The staff on the train was very friendly and willing to help with anything you needed. You learn a lot of factual things on the strain right also. Lots of very cool scenery on this trip

Recently enjoyed a train ride on a sunny October day to celebrate our 21st anniversary (we rode it on our honeymoon). This adventure is worth every penny, but bring your coat and gloves! We highly encourage the upgrade to a lounge car in chilly weather but be sure to check out the concession care even though you have an attendant. Great photos and other surprises to explore. The bathrooms are an adventure unto themselves, so be prepared for a rustic experience in that part of the train.

We had an amazing time on the Leadville Railroad with friends. The views were stunning, the warm coach seats were perfect for the chilly October weather, and the full glass windows made the scenery easy to enjoy. They serve food to your table, and the standing area adds extra fun. A truly unforgettable experience!

This train is absolutely amazing! As a plus size person I highly recommend! The isles between the seats are really wide the door and the stairs to get in and out of the cars are also nice and wide. We took our two dogs with us and appreciate the fact that dogs are allowed to enjoy such a fun activity! The pretzels 🥨 are super good as well! The staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable! I can not say enough good things about this train!! 🚂

The train ride was a great experience with absolutely breathtaking views the entire way. It was easy to find, and the free parking made everything even more convenient. The food on the train was definitely a plus and added to the overall enjoyment. The only downside was that I didn’t receive an actual train ticket like the others did, which was a bit disappointing. Other than that, it was a fun and memorable ride!

Taking this historic train ride is amazing for many perspectives. From the terrain you cover to the views you see all while getting a historic narrative from our Conductor Lanora. Lanora made the journey so interesting as she added so many historic details to what we were looking at. From mining for gold to Doc Holiday to geological facts her story telling ability is unmatched. Want to learn about Leadville and the surrounding area all while riding a train in the mountains of Colorado, then this is where you want to be.

One of the best railroad experiences in Colorado! We rode the train this week (last week of August) and the Aspens are already beginning to change, if you're reading this and planning the fall tour, y'all are in for treat! The drive to Leadville from Denver is around 2 hours but beautiful the entire way, the town of Leadville is really really cool, not all blown up and commercialized like Golden. Beautiful brick buildings etc. Anyway, back to the train... Best views are facing away from the station (left side). The covered car with windows can be a bit loud from rattling. If it's not raining (it rained before we boarded and dang you wouldn't believe how fast the crew worked to dry seats!), sit in the outside car or the covered car with no windows. Beautiful views and history the entire way. On the way down try and get closer to the engine...the diesel gets caught in the last car going downhill and it's a bit rough. Regardless, the staff is great and friendly and of all the railroads we did this one definitely has a special spot. We look forward to returning some day.

“Unforgettable Snowmobile Adventure!” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Taking a snowmobile tour with Nova Guides was hands down one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! From start to finish, everything was seamless. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional—they made sure we were comfortable and ready to ride. The snowmobiles were in perfect condition, and the trails were breathtaking. We climbed to elevations over 12,000 feet with stunning panoramic views of the Rockies that were truly postcard-worthy. Our guide was amazing—super knowledgeable, fun, and patient with the beginners in our group while still letting the more experienced riders enjoy the thrill. I also loved how the tour included a little bit of history about Camp Hale, which added an extra layer of appreciation for the area. They provided all the gear we needed, so we didn’t have to worry about a thing. If you’re looking for adventure, gorgeous scenery, and a top-notch team to make it all happen, Nova Guides is the way to go. I’m already planning to come back for another ride next winter!

Such an amazing experience! My partner and I have been snowmobiling a few times in Washington and this one was the best experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made us feel safe while giving us a really fun tour. The grounds are so beautiful. We stayed in vail and booked the PM half day and it was such a great day. Left the hotel right before noon and made it back around 6.

Our ATV guide Shane was superb! He explained everything beforehand and was very careful with us. During the stops, he described the mountain ranges and areas so we could learn more about our surroundings. He was fun, friendly, and professional. Definitely an asset to your company.

We had the best time on our 4-hour, Side by Side, self-guided tour! We were greeted by a friendly and helpful lady (unfortunately I did not catch her name) and she got us checked in quickly and fitted us with our helmets and goggles. We received a safety briefing from Nico and he gave us detailed information on the trails, which ones we could drive on and what type of trail we could expect. Some are smooth and easy and others are much rougher and rockier. My husband and I both said it was worth every penny. The views are stunning and we saw lots of deer, marmots and chipmunks. We recommend going in the morning when the animals are more active. The history of Camp Hale is interesting too. Imagining the training that the 10th Mountain Division went through while driving in their "shadows" was exciting to think about. We HIGHLY recommend the Nova Guides tour as it was one of the highlights of our entire trip.

What a wonderful experience. One warning: don't settle for two hours - go for four hours - you won't regret it. We rented the side-by-side for two hours, took a picnic lunch with us, headed to the top of the mountain, sat on the log rail and ate at the top of the world. I got to drive the entire time and wow, what fun! Speed up a little bit and enjoy the ride. I kept steering into the divots to get more excitement. What a rush! Don't skimp, don't go too slow, enjoy the ride, the scenery, and the fun. Wish we had the time to go back the next day to cover some of the trails we missed!

My wife and I had a fabulous time riding snowmobile we rented from Nova Guides! From the onset, the reservation agent provided a wealth of information regarding the snowmobiles and mountains we would be riding and made suggestions to allow us an opportunity to have a great experience. The tutorial of the snowmobile provided by the instructor was helpful as was the map to navigate the mountain. All the staff were very friendly. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time on the unguided four hour excursion. The scenery was amazing! Breathtaking! We look forward to returning and highly recommend Nova Guides snowmobile rentals!

Nestled in Vail Village, the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens pay tribute to former first lady Betty Ford's love for gardening. At an elevation of 8,200 feet, it is the highest botanical garden in the United States. The gardens feature over 3,000 plant species spread across four sections: Mountain Perennial Garden, Mountain Meditation Garden, Alpine Rock Garden, and Children's Garden. Visitors can explore these areas for free and learn about local plants at the education center.
Absolutely beautiful garden! Betty Ford Alpine Gardens is a peaceful, stunning spot nestled right in Vail. It features a wide variety of alpine flowers and plants, many of which are labeled with informative signs that make the walk both relaxing and educational. The setting is serene, with lovely pathways, water features, and mountain views all around. It’s a great place to stroll, take photos, or just sit and enjoy the natural beauty. The gardens are very well-maintained, and the staff and volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable. There is also a small visitor center where you can learn more about alpine ecosystems and conservation efforts. Whether you are into plants or just looking for a peaceful break from the hustle of the village, this is a must-visit spot in Vail and it’s free!

Peaceful quiet park and alpine garden. There is a cool gift shop near the amphitheater. Bathroom is available in visitor center and kids playground. We really enjoy the nice stroll through the garden and it was raining for a bit so we sat by the garden bench and meditated till it stopped.

Spectacular gardens, free and open to the public, dogs allowed if on leash. We visit these gardens every year and bring a picnic lunch. There is a park next to the Gardens with picnic tables. Also, a very informative visitor center and cute gift shop in a historic school house

While I didn't come at the best time of year for blooms there were plenty to see and the colors of the trees made up for it. The variety of plants here is stunning and the information is really nice I always learn something when I come here. Mostly just being in amongst the trees and plants and the sound of running water in the various ponds and waterfalls throughout the garden are so soothing and relaxing it really is beautiful. If you have any stress or worries what a wonderful place to come and they just wash away.

One of the most peaceful and beautiful parks in the country. There was endless fun for the kids - we basically had to pull them away after many hours there. It’s a must visit for young kids in Vail.

The Garden was beautiful but the tour was not what I anticipated. I typically look for interesting information or tidbits that I could not have learned otherwise from a knowledgeable guide. The tidbits we did get were things that were not particularly interesting or helpful to except for you can snowshoe in winter.

Beautiful gardens and amazing flower varieties. It is free to enter the garden. The nearby parking lot costs $2 an hour so if you can park somewhere else try to.

Copper Mountain is a sprawling ski resort with an impressive 140 downhill trails and a network of 16 miles of cross-country routes. Offering stunning views and a variety of terrains suitable for all levels, the resort has something for everyone. Visitors can also enjoy an alpine slide as well as ice skating, shopping and dining options. Although some skiers may find the tree runs challenging due to their tight design, Copper Mountain provides a great skiing experience overall.
This place is stunning. We travel here each year for snow skiing. The mountain is great for families. All of the green runs are on one side and blacks on the other, with the blues in the middle. It’s nice to know your kids won’t make a wrong turn and go from a green to a black! There are also many very experienced skiers and snowboarders here for all of the jumps and “terrain park” areas. Center village has a ton of nice restaurants, ski shops and even a pond for ice skating.

Copper mountain is so beautiful in the summer time! Rising up the chairlift was incredible and the view from the top is breathtaking (literally). We went on the haleluya walking trail and it so nice! It’s a great summer visit for the whole family ❤️
Franchesca C — Google review
The mountain terrain happen to be very organized starting from the west side (beginner) to the center (intermediate) to east side (advanced). The village is big with so many food spots and stores to explore. They have a demo center at the base, which is super convenient if you want to try out gear, you just rent and take 10 steps to the American eagle lift. The mountain is pretty massive and most skiable areas on the front side are accessible by lifts. The lifts are pretty new.
Varun S — Google review
The cliff dwellings tucked into the canyon walls are incredible. Seeing where the Ancestral Puebloans built their homes more than 700 years ago gives you chills. The ranger-led tours let you climb ladders into some of the dwellings, and it’s worth it for the experience. History doesn’t get more hands-on than this.
Patty T — Google review
Ski there a few days ago, beautiful weather and snow. Their green and blue trails are wide and long, very suitable for carving. Went during midweek so literally no lift line. Parked in the Alpine lot - one of the two free parking spots. There are shuttle buses running from the free lots to all villages.

Copper Mountain is a combination of great terrain, good service and a type of clientele above many others. It’s a bit of a “locals” resort feel with great appeal beyond its vicinity. My son and I have had some of the best times there. From the challenging bowls and seemingly unending mogul runs, to the smooth yet interesting groomers, to the terrain park(s) to play catching some air. By all means, a great resort in the heart of the Rockies.

Copper mountains, a wonderful mountain to go to definitely family orientated. Lots of great runs. Friendly staff and very modernized way of getting through the lines. They have a wonderful lift with a canopy that comes down. The chairs are comfortable and yet the blue canopy that comes over you keeps you warm. They have lockers to put your stuff in, they have weekly and daily rents on the lockers. Great downtown atmosphere at the bottom of the run.
Todd B — Google review
We went in the summer for their free lift Friday. The parking is free, the lift is free, the hiking is free. There were great views and hiking from the top of the mountain. The new Aerie building is beautiful, but I wish it had more outdoor seating on the downhill side to enjoy the views of the village, valley, and mountain. I July 2024 they were still working on some of the new outdoor landscaping g and features where the old building used to sit, but it is still very nice. It was cool to see they still had two skiing/snowboarding areas and several people were working g on tricks. The village area itself was nice with multiple shops that were not overly priced as much as some of the other ski-towns. Of the 3 ski areas we visited, Copper was our favorite.

Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of Colorado, Rusty Spurr Ranch offers an unforgettable experience for both novice and seasoned riders. The journey to the ranch from Breckenridge is a visual feast, showcasing stunning views that set the stage for your adventure. With knowledgeable wranglers like John guiding you through two-hour trail rides, you'll find yourself immersed in nature while riding gentle horses across picturesque terrain.
I cannot say enough great things about my experience with the Rusty Spurr Ranch. From the beginning, we were greeted with warmth and friendliness. It's clear that the owners care for and respect their horses as living beings and see them as more than just money earners. Specifically they limit how many days a week and hours each day the horses are ridden and the owners retire and keep most of the horses when the time comes. Bailey, our guide, was great! She was encouraging and attentive without being controlling. The open ranging style of the ride (opposed to nose-to-tail) allowed for us to have more individualized rides and was really fun. The landscape ranges from open lands, to hill tops, to beautiful alpine forests. Our 2 hour ride was the right amount of time for our group - we got to see a lot without legs getting stiff. Recommend dressing in light layers as there is elevation climb so it was breezy but not hot (in late May). Long pants that can brush against bushes without rips are ideal. Worth the drive and money!!

A wonderful experience! 🐎 Riding across 10,000 acres of open space with breathtaking views - freely, without having to follow the horse in front. We were able to simply ride, practice the turns, and enjoy the scenery, the horse, and the company of other riders. We were lucky to have amazing weather, which was a bonus. The small group and our knowledgeable, engaging guide made it even better. A truly unforgettable two-hour ride. I want to go back already 😆 It’s a bit of a drive from Breck/Keystone, but totally worth it. Highly recommended!

5/5 for Rusty Spurr Ranch!! Absolutely worth the easy, beautiful drive from Breckenridge. Our 2 hour trail ride was nothing short of amazing - from the beautiful scenery to the well-taken-care-of (sweet and gentle!) horses, to the “free range” riding, all the way to the experienced guide, we loved our experience. We were even offered the chance to watch the herd be released for their days off, nothing like seeing nearly 50 horses run for fun! Couldn’t recommend this ranch more, we will be back!
Paige K — Google review
What an unreal experience! We drove to the ranch from Breckenridge and the ride to the ranch itself was jaw dropping. My husband has never really rode before and John, our wrangler, could not have been a better teacher. He was not only so helpful, but he was full of great information and an overall joy to be around. The property itself is STUNNING and the views of the surrounding area were unbelievable. We always look for “ethical” adventures when traveling and this place is definitely that. It is great to see how well cared for and healthy the horses are, and their way of life on this ranch is hard to beat. 10/10 experience and we will be back!

Do not sleep on Rusty Spurr Ranch when you are in this area! The most beautiful and well done trail ride I have ever been on! This group of folks at Rusty Spurr loves and takes care of their horses and ranch, and it shows! Our guide, Jean, was so friendly and knowledgeable with our group and all of the horses. The 2 hour trail ride was the perfect way to see the mountains, and we were able to explore and do more than your head to rear trail ride. The views, pictures, and moments were beyond breathtaking, and we are so happy we made this part of our trip!
Maggie O — Google review
Wow. Not only is this place absolutely beautiful with mountains all around you, but the service and the horses are incredible! I did a 2-hour trail ride with my fairly inexperienced mom one day, and then I came back the next day for the cattle drive. Both were amazing in such different ways. If you want a more relaxed, sight seeing experience: trail ride. If you want a more active/adventurous experience: cattle drive. You’ll get more out of the cattle drive if you have riding experience and are comfortable on horse back; moving side to side quickly at times and going up and down hills quickly at times. It might be a bit much for a beginner, but definitely doable. And they encourage you to not do anything you’re not comfortable with! Highly recommend. Can’t stress that enough. I’ve got horses at home, but riding in the mountains and moving cattle was new for me and SO worth the money and sore butt lol!
Leah M — Google review
I can’t begin to describe what an incredible experience I had today at Rusty Spurr Ranch! I went on a cattle drive with Han as our guide. He was awesome. So knowledgeable and patient. And really taught us how to drive cattle. For me, this was definitely a once in a lifetime experience. This is the real deal. 10/10 would recommend.

South Park City Museum is a historic 1880s Gold Rush town turned museum, boasting over 40 buildings and 60,000 artifacts. Originally created in the 1950s to preserve old mining ghost towns in Park County, it offers a glimpse into the past with its recreated mining town featuring furnished historic buildings and old equipment. The museum stands as a living monument to days gone by, accurately restored and preserved to showcase the everyday life of that era.
I thought we would be in and out of this place within an hour and ended up staying about 3 hours when we should have been driving home. So much history and so much to see. It's definitely worth a stop! My wife FaceTimed her sister and showed her parts of it. There are over 30 buildings to explore complete with furnishings from the time period. Some buildings are original and some were moved from other local areas. There's a miniature mine, full steam train, all different types of wagons, just so many neat things to look at.

This museum was a real treat, and the ticket price was totally worth it! Seriously, they have a little bit of everything, which is super cool. It's like stepping back in time; the atmosphere really makes you feel like you're in the 1800s. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a fun and educational day out! You won't regret it.

Awesome! Must see! This is by far the most amazing representation of the old West, 1850 to 1880, I have ever seen. Extremely good price for admittance. Attention to detail is phenomenal. The museum is interactive, you can actually touch/ interact with some of the objects, go upstairs in some of these old dwellings. It really gives you the feeling of what it was like to live in 1850. And how horrible it must’ve been for these individuals to survive. How lucky we are to be where we are now. Not sure where you’re coming from, I would not want to live here. But this is an awesome reminder of a difficult and not so silver lined past.

"A delightful surprise! Even if you aren't a big fan going in, you'll be charmed. It's the cutest museum I've ever visited, packed with so many unique collectibles that make the visit worthwhile. Plus, they have a fantastic gift shop where you can pick up a souvenir or gift."

We loved this place! So much history to see and experience, it was fantastic getting to walk thru all the old historic buildings and see all the amazing antiques and artifacts. Open between mid-May and mid-October located on old main street Fairplay. Hands down the best open air museum! Take the opportunity to stop by and soak it all in. They do allow fur babies, just keep them on a short leash. Do allow a solid couple of hours and when wrapped up, stop by and support the other local shops.

The resort features on-site lodging with ski services, concierge, and activities desk. Guests can enjoy fully furnished accommodations with full kitchens and mountain views. The property also boasts indoor and outdoor pools as well as outdoor hot tubs for relaxation. In addition to skiing, the area provides access to trails for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking.
I visited Breckenridge Ski Resort in late April and early May, during the second-to-last week of the season. At that time, only Peak 6 and Peak 7 were open—unfortunately, Peaks 8 through 10 were already closed, which was a bit disappointing. 😕 However, because it was the end of the season, the slopes were pleasantly uncrowded and peaceful. ⛷️ One day during my stay, it snowed about 2 inches, which made for great conditions! Except for the last day (when the snow was a bit slushy), the weather and snow quality were excellent. According to the forecast, they were expecting 6 more inches of snow the following week—snowing in May is pretty wild! ❄️🌨️ Most of the chairlifts on Peak 6 and Peak 7 had footrests, which made the ride up much more comfortable—no need to keep holding up your board the whole time. 👍 The staff were also incredibly friendly. One of them even lent me his personal screwdriver when I couldn’t find the right tool to tighten my snowboard bindings. 🛠️ Really appreciated that kind gesture! Usually, parking 🅿️ at the resort isn’t free—weekday or weekend, you have to pay. But during Locals Appreciation Month in May, parking was free, which was a nice bonus! Breckenridge also offers a free shuttle bus around town. It runs about every 30 minutes and, while not super frequent, it’s still a convenient option if you don’t want to deal with parking. Overall, despite some terrain being closed, it was a great late-season experience. I’d love to come back earlier in the season to explore more of the mountain! 🏔️

Fun for all ages; cold on top of the mountain, a light garment is advisable. Gondolas are free to hop in and out, coaster was great. A place for families with dogs, young and old alike. Love it!

We took the gondola up to Breckenridge Ski Resort — it’s the third stop — and when you get out, even in summer, there’s plenty to do. You can ride the mountain slide, play mini golf, or check out a few other fun activities. There’s a nice outside restaurant and bar area where you can relax, and I loved that they had big chess set up too. Being up there was gorgeous — the mountain views are amazing. If you want to go even higher, you can take a chairlift up to the very top. I really enjoyed the whole experience. It’s a great spot to spend time in the summer, not just winter.

Favorite place to take the family skiing!! The double black diamond trains are the best with breathtaking views. Even during holiday weekends, this resort does not feel crowded at all. Highly suggest getting an epic pass and pre-purchase your lift tickets Trails are very well groomed, and average snowfall Here is perfect.

It's our first time in Breckenridge (my husband and I) and we're in love! We're definitely coming back. We don't ski, and we like to travel off season. We're here in the fall and loving every minute of it. There's so much to see and so many places to visit and drive through, it's never a dull moment. You don't want to drive anywhere? You can always hike the slopes and enjoy the views from up above. It reminds me of my childhood spent hiking in the Carpathian mountains. If you have a chance to come here even off season, take it. You won't regret it.
Cristina T — Google review
Fun summer day on the mountain, plenty to do for all ages. The gravity coaster is a blast as was the slide. Taking the chair lift to the top, and back down, gives you awesome views of the mountains and the valley.
G N — Google review
Fun activities, alpine slides and alpine roller coasters, along with some other stuff like bungee trampolines. The alpine slides were very fun but the waits made them almost not worth it. And it was very expensive. Expect at least ~$100 dollars unless you only want to go on one ride (which would be ~$45) We also skipped lunch because of the crappy food that was also incredibly expensive, so bring your own. So overall: •Rides (Alpine slides specifically) - 5 stars •Waits - 3 stars (An hour sometimes) •Food - 1 star, didn’t even eat, too expensive for what they offered Personally I would’ve gone on a beautiful hike for free but it was still a great day.

We loved this place, I can't help but to be honest that the people at the front desk are super friendly, but the maid service and workers doing renovations are not. Not 1 of them. My suspicion tells me it's because of their ethnicity and aren't treated fairly or equally. The resort itself is pretty beautiful with great amenities. My only advice would be....don't forget the people on the front lines.

Came here for a bachelorette party and it was hands down the highlight of our trip! Amy and both Joshes were our guides and they were so much fun, super knowledgeable, and incredibly patient with the range of riding experience in our group. The ride was absolutely beautiful and the horses were amazing, well-trained, gentle, and full of personality. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend!
Mira W — Google review
Cannot recommend The Platte Ranch enough. We had an absolutely fabulous time. Our group was all very novice at riding and the guides were so fantastic and helpful. We had a 6 year old with us and the guides (Josh and Mike) could not have been more kind, encouraging, and sweet with her. We would absolutely go back again.

Loved every minute of this ride. The guides were super personable and full of information. They made the whole experience top notch. The dogs, oh the dogs, they accompanied us the whole way too and were happy to recieve pets and attention. The horses were healthy, stable, sure footed, and enjoyed it as much as we did, I am sure. If you want a nose to tail easy peasy walk you can do that or if youre more adventurous there's plenty of opportunity to have some real fun running along the top of the property. 12 out of 10 would recommend for everyone! They also care for rescue horses, letting them live out their lives in comfort and under gentle care. Simply an amazing place, amazing ride, amazing people...can't say enough great things about this ranch!

Such an incredible experience from start to finish. Our trail guides were so lovely, friendly and full of stories and info about the surrounding area. We had some snow flurries that morning but once things cleared up, the views were breathtaking. We can't reccomend this place enough. Thank you so much for such a memorable ride.

We had the best experience at Platte Ranch! We rode a beautiful trail around the property with great views the whole time. Amy, Mike, and Josh were very friendly and knowledgeable. They made us feel comfortable on our horses and they shared tons of interesting facts about the history of the area and local wildlife. You can tell that they really care about the land and they have a special connection with their horses. The property is easy to find and easily accessible from Summit County or even the Denver Area. I would definitely come back to visit Platte Ranch again.

Can’t express how much I enjoyed riding with this crew and their lovely horses — never felt more comfortable and free at the same time, supported by a knowledgeable and sensitive group. As soon as I got off Promise, I wanted to go back to the woods on horseback. Coming back again for sure!!

Perfect Experience! Amy and the Platte team helped curate a beautiful ride for me & my friends. I felt safe & secure, left the ride excited for the next time. This will certainly be a spot I bring out of town friends & realities to!

Platt Ranch is a special place. Amy greeted our family and matched us with horses before our ride. Four friendly and very knowledgeable guides and a handful of dogs took to the trails with us, through the ranch and up the ridge, to a plateau where the views were absolutely mind blowing.

Came in early October and it was beautiful! The aspens were all yellow and orange. This was a great place to go horseback riding. You get to see the gorgeous land and be immersed in the trees, the views alone are a 10/10. Billy was a fantastic tour guide! I would highly recommend to everybody to check it out, you won't regret it!

I truly cannot express enough how amazing this experience was. Coming in the off season (late October), we decided to go horseback riding to make up for no snow activities. I would almost say this was better! It was an extremely laid back experience and completely worth every penny. Our guide Luke was awesome, and it’s always nice when you can tell people love their jobs. He made us feel comfortable as inexperienced riders and promoted spacing out throughout the ride as opposed to nose-to-tail. Our horses Daisy and Fairplay were very smart and well-behaved. The scenery was stunning, and we even got some snow during the ride. We did the 2 hour ride and highly recommend. We’re so happy we chose to do this activity on our trip, and will happily return next time we come back to CO. Thank you guys at ASR!

We had a wonderful experience recently at American Safari Ranch. The facilities themselves are rustic and what one would expect at a horse ranch (not a dude ranch!) The horses were well trained and well matched to us. Luke and Billy, our guides, were very experienced and patient and made the 90 minute ride extremely enjoyable. Being able to ride side by side as opposed to nose to tail made the ride even better. We highly recommend American Safari Ranch!
Becky J — Google review
We decided to spend our last day in FairPlay at American safari ranch and we were not disappointed! We booked a morning horseback ride that was beautiful and the staff was friendly and extremely helpful. We came back later in the day for an atv tour which was also amazing, I had never driven an atv but the tour guide showed me the ropes and I was good to go! Another helpful and friendly group of guides, I would highly recommend this place!

Went on a 2 hour ride with Billy as our guide! He was helpful, personable, and overall wonderful. And the trails were so fun to explore, even though we missed most of the changing leaves; the aspen groves were still so pretty. This was my first time here and I so hope I can come back! Thanks to the team there that makes it happen and takes care of the horses. Bonanza (aka Turtle) was stubborn but we got along like apple pie by the end :)

The horses are absolutely behaved and exceptional, the guides are always friendly and helpful, the views are stunning horseback up in the free range mountain, and the prices are the best I have ever seen. Just go! ❤️ I took my 8 yo daughter here for basically her first ride. They care about children and help boost their confidence and love for horses. Very kid friendly! Would give it 10 starts if I could!

Last time I was here we had Giselle as our guide (who was awesome!!) but this time we had Billy and he was great! He would tell us fun facts, tell us we were doing great and made it fun to be out on the trail. After we rode, we asked if we could stick around to pet the horses for a bit and they didn’t mind at all! Very lovely place, definitely want to come back!

We visited in late October, our guide was Billy the Kid. He did an excellent job of helping us learn to control the horses as well as safety. As well as explaining the area from dangers to what to look for. He was also nice enough to take some take pictures for us.(Harder than you think to take a picture while riding a horse)The Ranch is beautiful to say the least. Going up and down the peaks and through the Ash trees. Absolutely recommend.

Amazing ski resort. Coming from a greenhorn, the mountain and everyone on it were very accommodating and kind. Many paths to take. After hitting the bunny slope with the kids, I got the courage to hit the greens. Very forgiving and wide. I can not wait to return, improve, explore, and take in the beautiful surroundings. The staff was super friendly, talented, and educational. The lifts were fantastic and plentiful. After our long day, we took advantage of the lodge. Lots of food items, atmosphere, and IPA's.

Hot Sulphur Springs Resort & Spa is a natural hot springs resort located in Grand County, Colorado. The resort offers simple yet comfortable rooms, cabins, and apartments with access to 22 natural hot mineral pools. Guests can indulge in massages and other spa treatments while enjoying the old-school Colorado mountain experience. The resort provides private hot spring reservations for a renewing experience with minerals that benefit the skin and nails. Additionally, guests can enjoy the convenience of private changing areas and showers.
We stayed at the springs resort when we were visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park. Rooms might seem dated, however it was comfortable and clean. The highlight was the 20 hot springs were hot and comfortable. The springs and pools were not too crowded during our stay in the summer. The springs were still very comfortable since the weather was quite cold. They offer basic grab to go breakfast and oatmeal and coffee in the morning. There isn’t much businesses in town. However, the grill next to the resort offers excellent burgers and Mac and cheese!
Rachel L — Google review
The natural mineral hot springs were exactly what we needed—peaceful, relaxing, and rejuvenating. The pools are naturally heated and vary in temperature, so you can pick your perfect soak spot. The resort has a charming, laid-back vibe—nothing overly fancy, but that’s part of what makes it so wonderful. It’s cozy, quiet, and surrounded by Colorado beauty. Our room was simple but adorable and just steps away from the steamy springs. We didn’t take many photos because we were too busy relaxing—and that says it all. If you’re looking for a peaceful, no-frills, soak-the-road-dust-off kind of stop, this is it. We left feeling like melted butter. 🧈💛 Would absolutely come back again!
BRITT C — Google review
Soul rejuvenating. We came for the day and didn't stay at the resort. Loved the magnesium pools, the lower private overlook and the waterfall pool. The drive there was also super beautiful and only a 2 hour jaunt from Denver. All in all they had about 18 pools of different sizes & temperatures. Plenty of choices for private soaking. Going to make this a monthly stop on my wellness routine.
Alex K — Google review
Is this place the fanciest? No. Is it modernized? No. If you want this experience, go to Iron Mountain in Glenwood Springs. This place is legit. As natural and real as it gets when it comes to hot springs. 30 bucks is a steal to stay for as long as you want. We almost didn’t come because of some super negative reviews we saw online. Ignore those. Will definitely be returning!
Calvin H — Google review
So the people were nice. So my issue is the pools. The pictures on google don’t say the size of pools. These pools are small. Anyways just for y’all to know the pools are small. Nice scenery. Thirty dollars each. Not updated buildings either. Little expensive but it’s for the experience too.

Hidden Gem, and so affordable ! My very favorite hot springs in CO. The property is absolutely gorgeous it’s like walking around in a fairytale, so many tubs to choose from. The minerals in the water make my skin so soft and the smell isn’t bad at all. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, definitely worth the stop if you’re near WP!!
Tara D — Google review
Pools 10/10, mineral content of hot springs 10/10, variety of pools 10/10. The waters here are amazing, my 2nd favorite in the state behind TSR in Pagosa Springs. However I don’t think I could do more than 1 night here because the town isn’t really a town, only 1 liquor store and 1 food option unless you drive to Granby. And not a ton of hikes close to the hotel unless you go towards Steamboat and Grand Lake. The rooms are totally fine but as others mentioned they’re pretty outdated. Nonetheless a great spot and hot spring off the beaten path that everyone should check out, just don’t expect any amenities in town!
Kevin E — Google review
Can only comment on the springs, but omg. Wish I could move here, it's so good for my muscles and skin. People seem pretty nice. Wish they had memberships of some kind so I could afford to come all the time! The sulphur makes the springs pretty stinky, but I've never been to a hot springs that didn't smell. There are a number of pools, and several of them get higher than 105! Highly recommend.

What a hidden gem. Love this place… no lines (unless New Year’s Day, but even at that min wait time 5-min)… the staff here is so friendly, kind and very helpful. My family and I have enjoyed not only our summers here but also winter. The restaurant is really good food, compliments to the chef. The employees here are incredible in all faucets ranging from the ski/bike rental, equipment sales, restaurant staff and especially all of those whom work the lifts and safety patrol. Keep up the great work everyone… looking forward to many more great experiences and memories!

Great place for trail running during the summer. Fraser Canyon to Nature's Way makes for a punishing ascent with rewarding views at the top before a leisurely downhill run back to the base. (Also a great place for skiing in winter) Since I cannot directly respond to your review comment, yes you may use any of those photos.

Advanced Beginner hill. Not a ton of really hard runs but it was perfect for me. I loved the glade runs off of the green runs. Plenty of snow here and groomers were really nice in the early morning. RFID gates work well with a pass in your left glove or sleeve. Everyone working here was pleasant to deal with and pricing was fairly reasonable compared to some of the other mega resorts nearby. I looked at VRBO for rooms and they were really reasonable. Parking is well lit and there is plenty of it. There are a bunch of ski in ski out condos/houses. Love that they are on Indy Pass! I didn't stay in any of the rooms but can't imagine there are anything less than five stars. I really like the bathroom sink handle....you get to choose the temperature of the water and turn it on and off when you want to.

We had a great time skiing for our first time! The weather conditions weren't that great, but they got snow the day after we left. Lol. We went with family who have been here several times & they love it! The green lines are difficult for beginners, but that could've had a lot to do with the ice. The staff and facility were wonderful! The pizza oven was incredible! Can't wait to go back and conquer those green lines & advance to the blue!

Granby Ranch is a small but fun ski resort with a laid-back vibe. The lifts are definitely on the slower side, but the upside is that the lines are never too bad, so you still get plenty of runs in. It’s a great spot for families, beginners, or anyone looking for a more relaxed day on the mountain without the crowds or high prices of the bigger resorts. If you’re staying in Winter Park, it’s just a short drive away and totally worth it especially for night skiing, which is a rare find in Colorado. Not the most extreme terrain, but a solid mountain with beautiful views and a great atmosphere.
Rachel F — Google review
We love Granby Ranch! An easy drive up from Denver. The kids absolutely loved the ski school and the instructors. I hate writing this review because then more people will find out about our hidden gem! We do truly love it. The entire staff is so nice and the mountain is so family friendly! Having fewer people than the big mountains makes it easier to ski with littles without as many worries. To top things off, the valley is absolutely gorgeous and you have killer views from either chair and coming down most of the mountain as well. I wish there was a hotel at the bottom of the mountain, but love that you can park close to the base and not worry about shuttles or anything like that. This is not an expert terrain mountain by any means, but perfect for families!
M. B — Google review
Loved this place. Slightly less touristy than Winter Park where I went last year which was nice. Small town homey feel. Weather got bad and the roads were treacherous so recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle for sure. Definitely coming back here. Would have gladly stayed if I had a remote job !!
Alicen W — Google review
Friend and I rode DH at Granby Ranch today. Trails were great for early season and the staff really smashed the button on customer service. Anthony and Tom in the bike shop ROCK ! Took the Littles up first week of Jan to ride snow and you CANNOT find a more family-friendly place . From the parking to the lifts, it just cannot be beat. The other resorts are so over crowded. Granby Ranch feels like a private country club in comparison .

Great resort , people are friendly and service was professional. We were there in the summer and rode the gondola ride! Lot of fun and cool place on top to eat and drink. It was opening day for the summer so we got to see tons of mountain bikers riders. Watching them was really fun. Cant wait to come back this winter!

Day visit during the Summer ... Only 1.5 hrs from Denver. The drive is breathtaking. Great customer service. We decided to book an e-bike tour the same day, last minute so we had to call. We did the Riverside tour but the mountain tour was also an option. If we had arrived earlier maybe we could have done both. Included with it was a day pass for the gondola and $12 drink voucher (can only be redeemed on resort owned restaurants. Our tour guide was great and very knowledgeable. The bikes were pretty comfortable. The only disappointment was the food options after.

Rooms were very nice. Not a hotel but hotel-like. Multiple restaurants were shutdown during our stay (the one we wanted to go to was shutdown for a private event) & restaurant shutdowns weren't mentioned when we booked. One of the 2 mountain slides was also shutdown. Other than that a nice place to visit.

She stayed on the phone with me and tried to find an answer to my questions. Can't said enough kind things about Nikki and the team at Winter Park. We are headed there this summer for a concert and had some questions. We always have a great time skiing, but had a few questions about summer activities. Thank you Nikki!

Be aware if you are coming from out of state I’m extremely disappointed with this company’s lack of transparency. * THERE IS NO DISCLAIMER ON WEBSITE * what’s so ever They failed to inform us that a required lift ticket was not included in our ski reservations , only telling us one day before, which forced us to pay over $400 unexpectedly. That we simply can not afford When we asked for a refund, they refused, citing their “8-day window” policy—despite the fact that they didn’t provide the necessary information before that window closed. This was inconsiderate, poorly handled, and shows a lack of responsibility toward their customers.

Amazing place to go. If you are anywhere near this place make the climb. Road views are awesome and plenty of mountain goats and their babies are usually around. The goats also give free carwashes

Really beautiful scenery. We stopped here pretty briefly, and unfortunately the peak was closed so we didnt go very far, but gorgeous nonetheless.

Wonderful spot. Biked to the top ages ago. Evans having been the territorial governor and perhaps having acted to cover up the needless loss of life of indigenous people, then lost the mountain that bore his name for over 100 years. So it goes.

One of the most incredible mountain drives you can do in Colorado. It truly was the experience of a lifetime. The sights were breathtaking, from the mountains, lakes, valleys, to wildlife, couldn’t recommend more. At one point we drove into a thunderstorm, then above it. I would do this every day of my life if I could.

Beautiful getting up to the road that takes you to the top but that's as far as you can get. Road is closed but there are other parts to see while in that area

We did a ride up for sunset and during the day with a reservation. The views were beautiful and sunset was absolutely amazing! Great drive although the road near the top is in need of work that is scheduled to happen end of July 2024 and last about a year

Drove up around 10am on a Sunday. Beautiful day, lots of bikers riding up (kudos to them!) and relatively low traffic. Saw a herd of goats approaching the parking lot. ‘Hiked’ the summit trail and had some gorgeous views to go with the easiest 14er.

A great and easy way to experience a 14er! Purchased tickets in advance and drove to the top parking lot. There were many pretty views along the way. At the top we ran into so many mountain goats and marmots! We hiked to the top, which was a short trail with some mild elevation gains. The elevation definitely made a huge difference. At the top, we were roughly at 14,225 feet!

Indian Hot Springs is a simple resort located in Idaho Springs, offering basic rooms and log cabins. The resort features a mineral water pool and a spa, making it an ideal place for relaxation. Guests have praised the accommodating staff who allowed early check-in after being stranded in a snowstorm. The pool is described as an awesome perk, resembling a giant hot tub. Visitors also appreciate the new renovations, private caves, and mud baths available at the resort.
My dad and I have been here a few times and I keep forgetting to write a review. Or it's been a while since I have... anyway! I love the old building. It's certainly old, but it's very clean and nice. The staff are friendly and gave us a good dinner reccomendation for the Cider Brewery in town. My dad and I got one of the outdoor private tubs, lovely quiet place, nice little "yard". Truly relaxing. The tub was super hot and a hour long soak was more than enough! We showed up without a reservation, and even though we got a private tub still, I think next time we will follow as the staff reccomend and make a reservation for a tub it we go later in the day. *they said earlier there is less people typically, more people come after work etc. But it was a lovely night for a hot tub, cool but not freezing, (though, there was an umbrella which I assume will be nice if it's snowing) but the strem running out front and the calm music they had playing, this place is lovely! (We didn't stay in the hotel itself just here for the hot springs)

We came from Denver to celebrate a friend’s special birthday—a place we’ve enjoyed visiting every other month. Unfortunately, traffic on I-70 was unusually bad that day. I called ahead and left a voicemail to let them know we were running late and asked if our one-hour bath time could be shifted slightly. When we arrived just 15 minutes late, I politely asked if we could still have our full hour, provided there was no reservation after ours. The staff declined and insisted we pay for an extra hour to extend our time. I asked to speak with the manager, hoping for some understanding, but she repeated the same answer—without any flexibility or consideration, even though it was a weekday and the facility was not busy. It was disheartening to see walk-in guests being accommodated while our paid reservation left us with less time and more stress. The staff even reminded that we have 35 min and we will be fined if we are late. I found that rude, extra time that we spent to talk to the customer service wasted our paid time. As regular customers who came to celebrate a special occasion, we expected a bit more understanding and goodwill. Instead, we were met with rigidity and rude communication that cut into our celebration. We left feeling disappointed and taken advantage of. We won’t be returning, and I hope the management reconsiders how they treat loyal guests in the future.

I rented the outdoor cypress soaking tub, and it was so fabulous that I rebooked it before I left. I was so happy and excited that I left my favorite tote bag, with my bathing necessities. Good thing I’m going back in a few days. The minerals in the water were extremely soothing and rejuvenating. I didn’t check out the rest of the facilities, only the outdoor bath. Five stars!

I have been coming here for 30 years. This is the 1st time I have been extremely disappointed with my experience. The room prices have increased but they have not been updated. You now have to pay for the caves even when you stay at the resort. These used to come with the rooms. When we checked in we were told that we now have to pay separately. I was will to do that and with out complaints. When we tried to pay for them on the 2nd day of our stay we were told, you now have to make reservations and you are given a hour and a half only. If you want more time you have to pay another 40 or 32 dollars (price difference when staying at the resort or not staying). We booked massages for 1 day of our stay and we cannot use the caves before hand because they are "booked" for that time slot. I am extremely disappointed. My mom and I have been coming here to relax and use the caves, nap, get a massage and more for years but now we are no longer able to do that without being scheduled. We will not be coming back.

I came from out of state to find out this place isn't working because of water pipe problem. The manager was a nice person, and he was working hard to fix it. I came later at night when it was fixed and I enjoyed the place. The pool is cool and the caves were great. I see a lot of exaggeration in the reviews. I just recommend making it a booking only visit, so that in case something happens, all potential visitors get notified by email and they don't travel to Idaho Springs. If bookings are not needed, some people like me might show up on a bad day, and the resort won't be working, so they get disappointed. I checked the mineral content of the water, and I hope they are accurate, as one of them seems too high. Otherwise, thank you Justin and the rest of the team! I hope I'll be able to visit Colorado again and come to IHS!

Worth the price. We got a 50 min couples massage, which wasnt bad, but definitely not amazing. It came with a pool pass though, and the water was clean, and all the plants were beautiful and well kept. Easy to book/ check in, did not stay overnight*

Overall, we enjoyed a relaxing hot mineral springs experience. None of the negatives would prevent me from enjoying the place again, and they should not deter you either. But they DO prevent me from giving all five stars. First, the staff overall were friendly and helpful, but there were exceptions. Those exceptions were youth/youthful who responded with mild snark and/or condescension (probably in exacerbation from repeating themselves) that has no place in a service business where comfort and relaxation are what’s on offer. Second the website did not inspire confidence. What are we buying? How does it work? Are there other fees? How many people does this reserved tub accomodate? Sadly we resorted to calling when the website reservation system proves too opaque. Third, the facilities are … tired. The tub we reserved wasn’t quite level. The decking was sagging away at the back edge. Everything was CLEAN and sanitary but not maintained to resort standards. Everything worked however. To be fair, the springs were first opened in 18xx! Big picture though? We had a good time. It was safe, clean, and had friendly staff, and we will come here again.

Water is super chlorinated in the main pool. The front desk was unclear that the entire building was without water, the way that they made it sound there were only 2 bathrooms that had the water turned off. After we paid and went downstairs it was made apparent that no showers, changing rooms were closed, no drinkable water, and no bathrooms. They were totally fine with charging us full price though. The plants surrounding the pool do make for a cool experience. Also, there seems to be a communication breakdown between the pool staff and the front desk as the front desk guy said we can stay in the pool until 9 and we were getting warned that we needed to leave at 8:40. I’d give them another try as I understand the water being turned off was a (hopefully) temporary issue, but definitely just rent a private pool hoping to have less chlorine to deal with.

The Argo Gold Mill and Tunnel, located in Idaho Springs, is a historic former gold mine and mill that offers guided tours providing insights into the area's rich gold mining history. The tour includes exploration of the tunnels and showcases the equipment used during the mining operations. Visitors can also engage in a gold-panning activity as part of the tour experience. Additionally, nearby Clear Creek offers opportunities for whitewater rafting amidst stunning natural scenery, catering to rafters of all experience levels.
Touring the Argo was an experience we won't forget - our tour guide was incredible, and was very knowledgeable. Touring the entrance to the Argo and the mill was fascinating, especially seeing one of the first circuit breakers by Tesla himself in person (which was very fun to review with my electrician husband). I've been to many mine tours but the Argo is one that will stick with us! There is gold panning at the end of the tour, and gemstone panning for the kids. Guaranteed gold flecks. Truly would recommend!

This was great for a day trip and I can say as a native had never realized they did tours! We walked in on the hour and were able to join the tour group but after us it was full so I would recommend getting there 20 min early or on weekends making a reservation. A short bus ride to the tunnel entrance and then a tour from the top to the bottom of the mill. We learned A LOT. I would say if you have mobility or breathing issues this isn’t the place to go. Your time in the mine tunnel is short as is the distance you can travel inside it. The mill is dusty and there are tons of crazy old stairs. The price for the tour was a little steep $30 for adults and $20 for kids plus they state the tour guides work on tips. It was a full 1+ hours with the tour and the gold panning. I would totally recommend but there are going to be people who don’t feel the price is worth it. Also note that no gold was found here it was merely a tunnel for transporting it to the mill. There are lots of other mines to visit in the area too.

Overall a great tour! Understanding the logistics and economics involved, considering halving the maximum tour size. Our guide would start talking in the next area before half of the folks on our tour were able to get there. But he was very informative and knowledgeable. Also, think about adding captions to the video tour show before the tour ends.

Such a fun and unique experience! You get to explore a bit of the mines and learn a lot about the history of gold mining in Colorado along the way. Yes, you do get to look for gold. A slight disclaimer, you will only find 1 - 3 specs and it is in a separate basin. However, it's fun and informative nonetheless.

I had an absolute blast at Argo Mill & Tunnel in Idaho Springs! Our tour guide Sam was fantastic knowledgeable, engaging, and full of enthusiasm. He brought the history to life and made sure everyone was included. The tour was hands on and fun, from the breathtaking mill structure to gold panning in the final pit. If you enjoy local history and a bit of adventure, this one’s a must do with an awesome guide at the helm.

We were provided information on the mine, mining process and gold processing. You will walk through the old gold mill and get a glimpse of the ARGO water drainage and cart train tunnel. You are also provided a pan of sand to pan for some gold flakes you can keep. While interesting, I'm not sure it is worth the $30 a piece for entry.

Fun experience, different from other mine tours. Kids loved that gold panning was a part of it. Running water and bathrooms before and after tour. FYI- with the ongoing construction and updates, the roads in may differ from your gps/map.

It was a great time. Got to learn a lot about the area and the mine. Thomas was our guide and really helped make the experience that more awesome with all the knowledge of the site new and old. I wouldn’t skip the experience and can’t wait to come back and see the expansion of the Argo going up the mountain.

Nestled at the edge of a supermarket parking lot, the Carousel of Happiness is a delightful slice of history that promises joy for visitors of all ages. This charming attraction features 56 meticulously hand-carved animals on a beautifully restored 1910 Loof carousel, accompanied by the enchanting sounds of a vintage 1913 Wurlitzer organ. For just $1 per ride, families can experience this nostalgic gem while soaking in its rich backstory.
My son and I absolutely love this! We went two times. The story of this carousel is so amazing, I saw it on the CBS Sunday Morning show, or trumpets as we call it. The animals are lovely, the shop is lovely, the staff is lovely. What a wonderful place to visit, it was so fun.

What a beautiful place with an amazing history! Knowledgeable and helpful people at the front desk and at the carousel ride, an interesting museum/gift shop, and it is accessible for people with sensory issues – – they were happy to give us over that ear headphones to wear on the ride (the music is loud). At only three dollars per person, this place is a must visit if you are in the area.

A truly charming and inspiring little stop in Nederland. The hand-carved animals on the carousel each have their own personality and story, and you can feel the love that went into creating them. It’s not just a ride—it’s a piece of art, and a reminder of joy for less than a cup of coffee! I went on a weekday and it wasn’t busy, which made it even more magical and peaceful. The whole place has a quaint, nostalgic vibe, and it’s hard not to leave with a smile. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and want something uplifting.

The story behind this beautiful piece of craftsmanship is touching. A Vietnam Vet built the piece for people to enjoy just so his mind would be at peace from the rigorous of combat. A must-see experience.

No need to notify your face to show the world your smile, as this Carousel of Happiness may well remind you that happiness is here for the taking, so do enjoy the ride! The Wall to Somewhere Else holds the space for a beloved, The stained glass windows (Artist Cypress Willett) above the carousel are gateways of color to spiritual mystery, the hand carved creatures (Artist Scott Harrison ) are sure to see you safely on your journey around. One more ride on the Merry Go Round!

Speaking as a full grown middle aged man, if you can ride on this beautifully restored antique carousel and somehow manage to NOT smile, you are too full of negative energy and need to go on another ride. Such a cool thing to see in a cute little mountain town, A+, 5 stars, would recommend visiting.

Absolutely beautiful artwork and an incredibly kind and most patient staff. My daughter took three rides and I adored listening to the pristine sounds of the Wurlitzer band organ. What a treasure this carousel is!

Such a cute stop! The hand carved animals are really beautiful and there is a lot of info on the history of the carousel. $3/ride and kids under 1 are free. We rode twice and my 6mo old had a blast.
