It is soooo worth the hike to Crater Lake! The trail is super rocky, good hiking shoes are a MUST but you will NOT regret the reward at the end. Reservations for the shuttle are easily made online and I highly recommend the shuttle.

Maroon Bells is a truly majestic place with breathtaking views, scenic walking trails, clean restrooms, and picnic tables. It’s family and pet friendly; accessible for everyone. The main trail is suitable for walkers, wheelchairs, and strollers.
If you have a handicap tag or plate, you’re allowed to drive up to the entrance and purchase a vehicle pass without needing a reservation. You can go up at any time of the day — no advance booking is required for vehicles with handicap tags or plates.
For all other visitors, you must make a reservation in advance with a specific time slot. If you buy a shuttle ticket for a certain time and arrive late, you’ll need to wait in line and board a later bus only if there’s space available. Parking is paid and collected upon arrival. If you wish to drive your own car, make sure to arrive before 8:00 AM — after that, access to the mountain is only allowed via the shuttle bus.

Great hike to Crater Lake. Try to get there early with the shuttle. It a moderate hike with some elevation a lot of boulders and rocks but it's worth while. It's like walking on the moon
A very beautiful place — definitely a must-visit! I recommend buying a parking ticket on the website in advance, as same-day tickets might be sold out.
Also, photos and videos are allowed after 5 PM.
If you want the sunlight on the mountain (not behind it), come in the first half of the day.

We were able to visit in mid October and took the help of the shuttle bus and it was a blessing in disguise. Crowd was less and was more enjoyable.
We arrived at Aspen Highlands where we parked the car and took a bus ride that took about 20 minutes to the site. There are several easy trails around the lake and also the option of more difficult treks. We traveled in June and the conditions were pleasant, a light jacket was enough. It is worth reserving a place in advance for parking or transportation.
I love it! It's an easy round trail. If you would like a more challenging hike, you could take the trail to Crater Lake. Before going, people should buy round-trip shuttle tickets online. Remember the last bus of the day.

Beautiful place. We had trouble finding the actual walk. There was a homeless guy sleeping in some trees by the river tho. But we had a short wander, cruised an old bridge, saw some art, said we would come back next visit.
I loved this place. Went there several times during my stay in Aspen. It is so well manicured and beautiful in the morning and sunset. I took a million pictures and became John Denver fan!
Very nice way to honor John Denver. The sanctuary is well thought out and a tribute to his love of nature. The rock garden can be emotional with the lyrics of some of his most popular songs on them. Parking can be a challenge. There were games going on in the adjacent park, so had to park down the street.
The John Denver Sanctuary is pure magic. Peaceful paths, inspiring words carved into stone, and an atmosphere that feels like shooting hoops up in the sky ⛹🏼 Everything here is serene, uplifting, and unforgettable.

Footing can be a little tricky when wandering. Not really wheelchair friendly.
As a John Denver fan, I figured I would love this place, but it exceeded expectations. The flowing water and manicured grounds provided by this little sanctuary are incredibly well conceived. The fall colors during peak week made the garden pop. Highly recommended during the first week of October for anyone looking to breathe in some peace and serenity, not just those who appreciate Denver's songwriting. Insightful quotes and beautiful scenery are a perfect way to reflect, regardless of your taste in music.

Beautiful gondola ride and scenic views from the top. I am not sure if It is year round or not but they have 5 person chairs and gondola cars running on the same lift. We had beautiful weather so we rode up on the open air chairs for the best view. I recommend that... weather permitting of course.
We loved our week long stay. Our son had great ski school lessons with Sean in level 5. Truly a magical place. Exceptional skiing as well as an incredibly beautiful setting. We can’t wait to return.
One of my favorite ski resorts - we were so blessed to have a late season snow that brought amazing powder in April - absolutely love the tons in McCoy Park! They are really mellow and were covered in powder
We just went to see Beaver Creek Resort for the first time. We walked around the Village. Very quaint, but a little expensive. I thoroughly enjoyed the art gallery, especially the whimsical photography. My favorite was the cowboy playing golf with a putter in one hand and a rifle in the other. His caddie was a buffalo with the bag of clubs slung over its back. It started to rain, so we ducked into Citrea for brunch. What a lucky break! Again, a little expensive, but very tasty. I recommend the French toast with berries, real maple syrup, and a scoop of maple ice cream. (I did gain three pounds over the weekend.)
Beaver Creek is a really nice, fancy, and luxurious place to ski or snowboard. The resort feels upscale from the moment you arrive beautiful lodges, heated walkways, great service, and a super polished vibe. The terrain is fun and well-groomed, and the whole experience is top-notch.
That said, I personally prefer Vail over Beaver Creek. Nothing compares to the back bowls in Vail they’re absolutely legendary and Vail can actually be more affordable, especially when comparing lodging and lift ticket options.
Beaver Creek is still an amazing resort, perfect if you enjoy a quieter, more luxurious mountain experience. But if I had to pick one… Vail wins for me every time.
Beaver Creek Resort is truly amazing any time of year! The beauty of the area is breathtaking, and we absolutely love the charm of the town and the village. In the summer, the hiking is fantastic with scenic trails, and in the fall, the vibrant leaves are a stunning backdrop. Winter skiing here with our family is always a highlight. It’s such a family-friendly resort with something for everyone to enjoy. The Red Buffalo Express is our favorite spot to ski as a family, offering awesome and varied terrain. Plus, you can’t beat the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies they hand out daily at 3 PM—such a fun touch!
Beaver Creek is an incredible destination for both beginners and expert skiers. With a variety of trails and off-trail areas, there's always something new to explore. I've skied here all season and never got bored. Snow conditions are consistently good even better in the expert glades, with excellent grooming in the mornings. Lift lines are rarely long, and all of the resort's faces are easily accessible.
The main village at Beaver Creek is smaller compared to nearby resorts, but it offers a charming, family-friendly atmosphere. It's a quiet and beautiful resort, ideal for families seeking fewer crowds and plenty of activities.

Very informative ! This is a great place to learn about the history of mining in Leadville, State of Colorado and the entire United States. There is a lot of information for gold mining to coal mining and everything in between if your in Leadville and have an hour or so and want to check out the museum you won’t be disappointed. This is in the old school house we were told.
Such a neat place. You could easily spend a few hours here learning about history of the area and interacting w/displays. Staff is super friendly and happy to tell you anything you need to know about Leadville area.
As a descendant of an immigrant miner and also Baby Doe on my husband's side, the museum held a lot of significance. The interactive exhibits were very realistic. You can spend a few hours here and learn quite a bit.
Awesome old School Building turning into a Mining Museum and Hall of Fame. Lots of cool mining facts and artifacts to see. There's an awesome Miniature room, and several immersive walk through rooms that transport you under the earth. Also didn't trigger my Claustrophobia at all.
Just a perfect museum. Either a willingness one comes away with such an incredible treasure of new knowledge. Highly recommended.

This is a pretty cool thing to do. It takes about two and a half hours but you get to go on a nice train ride and the announcer is very well informed on everything about the town and surrounding areas. The seats are pretty comfortable which is nice. The staff on the train was very friendly and willing to help with anything you needed. You learn a lot of factual things on the strain right also. Lots of very cool scenery on this trip
What a beautiful train ride. Would diffenitly come back near the fall color change, but it was beautiful nonetheless. If you love train rides, this is a must do if you're in the area. Open seating was $59.00 per adult..$89.00 for assigned car seating. They had snacks / burgers / drinks on board. 2.5 hour ride. Outside car was PERFECT at about 55°. Two time slots of 10am & 2pm. Dog friendly. Lots of families on board. Reserved tickets on 24 hours in advance & had my whole hiking group of 8 get on. So, plenty of space.
Love love love! My son has a love of trains, and so while we have taken trains, in other states, we’ve never taken our hometown train! Yesterday we went up in the mountains and saw all the beautiful trees and listen to a wonderful diatribe by the conductor! Totally loved our two hours on this train. Thank you so much for making my son’s Sunday a great day.
Recently enjoyed a train ride on a sunny October day to celebrate our 21st anniversary (we rode it on our honeymoon). This adventure is worth every penny, but bring your coat and gloves! We highly encourage the upgrade to a lounge car in chilly weather but be sure to check out the concession care even though you have an attendant. Great photos and other surprises to explore. The bathrooms are an adventure unto themselves, so be prepared for a rustic experience in that part of the train.
We had an amazing time on the Leadville Railroad with friends. The views were stunning, the warm coach seats were perfect for the chilly October weather, and the full glass windows made the scenery easy to enjoy. They serve food to your table, and the standing area adds extra fun. A truly unforgettable experience!
This train is absolutely amazing! As a plus size person I highly recommend! The isles between the seats are really wide the door and the stairs to get in and out of the cars are also nice and wide. We took our two dogs with us and appreciate the fact that dogs are allowed to enjoy such a fun activity! The pretzels 🥨 are super good as well! The staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable! I can not say enough good things about this train!! 🚂
One of the best railroad experiences in Colorado!
We rode the train this week (last week of August) and the Aspens are already beginning to change, if you're reading this and planning the fall tour, y'all are in for treat! The drive to Leadville from Denver is around 2 hours but beautiful the entire way, the town of Leadville is really really cool, not all blown up and commercialized like Golden. Beautiful brick buildings etc.
Anyway, back to the train... Best views are facing away from the station (left side). The covered car with windows can be a bit loud from rattling. If it's not raining (it rained before we boarded and dang you wouldn't believe how fast the crew worked to dry seats!), sit in the outside car or the covered car with no windows. Beautiful views and history the entire way. On the way down try and get closer to the engine...the diesel gets caught in the last car going downhill and it's a bit rough. Regardless, the staff is great and friendly and of all the railroads we did this one definitely has a special spot.
We look forward to returning some day.

Taking a snowmobile tour with Nova Guides was hands down one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! From start to finish, everything was seamless. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional—they made sure we were comfortable and ready to ride.
The snowmobiles were in perfect condition, and the trails were breathtaking. We climbed to elevations over 12,000 feet with stunning panoramic views of the Rockies that were truly postcard-worthy. Our guide was amazing—super knowledgeable, fun, and patient with the beginners in our group while still letting the more experienced riders enjoy the thrill.
I also loved how the tour included a little bit of history about Camp Hale, which added an extra layer of appreciation for the area. They provided all the gear we needed, so we didn’t have to worry about a thing.
If you’re looking for adventure, gorgeous scenery, and a top-notch team to make it all happen, Nova Guides is the way to go. I’m already planning to come back for another ride next winter!

Such an amazing experience! My partner and I have been snowmobiling a few times in Washington and this one was the best experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made us feel safe while giving us a really fun tour. The grounds are so beautiful. We stayed in vail and booked the PM half day and it was such a great day. Left the hotel right before noon and made it back around 6.
Our ATV guide Shane was superb! He explained everything beforehand and was very careful with us. During the stops, he described the mountain ranges and areas so we could learn more about our surroundings. He was fun, friendly, and professional. Definitely an asset to your company.
We had the best time on our 4-hour, Side by Side, self-guided tour! We were greeted by a friendly and helpful lady (unfortunately I did not catch her name) and she got us checked in quickly and fitted us with our helmets and goggles. We received a safety briefing from Nico and he gave us detailed information on the trails, which ones we could drive on and what type of trail we could expect. Some are smooth and easy and others are much rougher and rockier. My husband and I both said it was worth every penny. The views are stunning and we saw lots of deer, marmots and chipmunks. We recommend going in the morning when the animals are more active.
The history of Camp Hale is interesting too. Imagining the training that the 10th Mountain Division went through while driving in their "shadows" was exciting to think about. We HIGHLY recommend the Nova Guides tour as it was one of the highlights of our entire trip.
What a wonderful experience. One warning: don't settle for two hours - go for four hours - you won't regret it. We rented the side-by-side for two hours, took a picnic lunch with us, headed to the top of the mountain, sat on the log rail and ate at the top of the world.
I got to drive the entire time and wow, what fun! Speed up a little bit and enjoy the ride. I kept steering into the divots to get more excitement. What a rush! Don't skimp, don't go too slow, enjoy the ride, the scenery, and the fun. Wish we had the time to go back the next day to cover some of the trails we missed!
My wife and I had a fabulous time riding snowmobile we rented from Nova Guides! From the onset, the reservation agent provided a wealth of information regarding the snowmobiles and mountains we would be riding and made suggestions to allow us an opportunity to have a great experience. The tutorial of the snowmobile provided by the instructor was helpful as was the map to navigate the mountain. All the staff were very friendly. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time on the unguided four hour excursion. The scenery was amazing! Breathtaking! We look forward to returning and highly recommend Nova Guides snowmobile rentals!
AMAZING TIME! We did the 4 hour unaccompanied snowmobiling and it was perfect!! We were able to go at our own pace and revisit trails that had awesome views. My wife and I had a two person sled and loved the heated handle grips and the seats were super comfortable. We highly recommended this activity and this company for your next adventure!

Peaceful quiet park and alpine garden. There is a cool gift shop near the amphitheater. Bathroom is available in visitor center and kids playground. We really enjoy the nice stroll through the garden and it was raining for a bit so we sat by the garden bench and meditated till it stopped.
Spectacular gardens, free and open to the public, dogs allowed if on leash. We visit these gardens every year and bring a picnic lunch. There is a park next to the Gardens with picnic tables. Also, a very informative visitor center and cute gift shop in a historic school house
While I didn't come at the best time of year for blooms there were plenty to see and the colors of the trees made up for it. The variety of plants here is stunning and the information is really nice I always learn something when I come here. Mostly just being in amongst the trees and plants and the sound of running water in the various ponds and waterfalls throughout the garden are so soothing and relaxing it really is beautiful. If you have any stress or worries what a wonderful place to come and they just wash away.

One of the most peaceful and beautiful parks in the country. There was endless fun for the kids - we basically had to pull them away after many hours there. It’s a must visit for young kids in Vail.
The Garden was beautiful but the tour was not what I anticipated. I typically look for interesting information or tidbits that I could not have learned otherwise from a knowledgeable guide. The tidbits we did get were things that were not particularly interesting or helpful to except for you can snowshoe in winter.
Beautiful gardens and amazing flower varieties. It is free to enter the garden. The nearby parking lot costs $2 an hour so if you can park somewhere else try to.

This place is stunning. We travel here each year for snow skiing. The mountain is great for families. All of the green runs are on one side and blacks on the other, with the blues in the middle. It’s nice to know your kids won’t make a wrong turn and go from a green to a black! There are also many very experienced skiers and snowboarders here for all of the jumps and “terrain park” areas. Center village has a ton of nice restaurants, ski shops and even a pond for ice skating.

Copper mountain is so beautiful in the summer time! Rising up the chairlift was incredible and the view from the top is breathtaking (literally). We went on the haleluya walking trail and it so nice! It’s a great summer visit for the whole family ❤️
The mountain terrain happen to be very organized starting from the west side (beginner) to the center (intermediate) to east side (advanced). The village is big with so many food spots and stores to explore. They have a demo center at the base, which is super convenient if you want to try out gear, you just rent and take 10 steps to the American eagle lift.
The mountain is pretty massive and most skiable areas on the front side are accessible by lifts. The lifts are pretty new.
The cliff dwellings tucked into the canyon walls are incredible. Seeing where the Ancestral Puebloans built their homes more than 700 years ago gives you chills. The ranger-led tours let you climb ladders into some of the dwellings, and it’s worth it for the experience. History doesn’t get more hands-on than this.
Ski there a few days ago, beautiful weather and snow. Their green and blue trails are wide and long, very suitable for carving. Went during midweek so literally no lift line. Parked in the Alpine lot - one of the two free parking spots. There are shuttle buses running from the free lots to all villages.
Copper Mountain is a combination of great terrain, good service and a type of clientele above many others. It’s a bit of a “locals” resort feel with great appeal beyond its vicinity.
My son and I have had some of the best times there. From the challenging bowls and seemingly unending mogul runs, to the smooth yet interesting groomers, to the terrain park(s) to play catching some air.
By all means, a great resort in the heart of the Rockies.
Copper mountains, a wonderful mountain to go to definitely family orientated. Lots of great runs. Friendly staff and very modernized way of getting through the lines. They have a wonderful lift with a canopy that comes down. The chairs are comfortable and yet the blue canopy that comes over you keeps you warm. They have lockers to put your stuff in, they have weekly and daily rents on the lockers. Great downtown atmosphere at the bottom of the run.
We went in the summer for their free lift Friday. The parking is free, the lift is free, the hiking is free. There were great views and hiking from the top of the mountain. The new Aerie building is beautiful, but I wish it had more outdoor seating on the downhill side to enjoy the views of the village, valley, and mountain. I July 2024 they were still working on some of the new outdoor landscaping g and features where the old building used to sit, but it is still very nice.
It was cool to see they still had two skiing/snowboarding areas and several people were working g on tricks. The village area itself was nice with multiple shops that were not overly priced as much as some of the other ski-towns. Of the 3 ski areas we visited, Copper was our favorite.
I'll never travel to Arvada without this trip planner again

It's definitely worth a stop! My wife FaceTimed her sister and showed her parts of it. There are over 30 buildings to explore complete with furnishings from the time period. Some buildings are original and some were moved from other local areas. There's a miniature mine, full steam train, all different types of wagons, just so many neat things to look at.

Awesome! Must see! This is by far the most amazing representation of the old West, 1850 to 1880, I have ever seen. Extremely good price for admittance. Attention to detail is phenomenal. The museum is interactive, you can actually touch/ interact with some of the objects, go upstairs in some of these old dwellings. It really gives you the feeling of what it was like to live in 1850. And how horrible it must’ve been for these individuals to survive. How lucky we are to be where we are now. Not sure where you’re coming from, I would not want to live here. But this is an awesome reminder of a difficult and not so silver lined past.

We loved this place! So much history to see and experience, it was fantastic getting to walk thru all the old historic buildings and see all the amazing antiques and artifacts. We were rushing a bit but still had a great time and got to see everything we wanted. Would definitely recommend a stop here when you’re in the area!

Open between mid-May and mid-October located on old main street Fairplay. Hands down the best open air museum! Take the opportunity to stop by and soak it all in. They do allow fur babies, just keep them on a short leash. Do allow a solid couple of hours and when wrapped up, stop by and support the other local shops.
Beautifully kept and such history! It was wonderful to step back in time. The route is clear to follow. All the buildings are so well kept and dust free!

I visited Breckenridge Ski Resort in late April and early May, during the second-to-last week of the season. At that time, only Peak 6 and Peak 7 were open—unfortunately, Peaks 8 through 10 were already closed, which was a bit disappointing. 😕 However, because it was the end of the season, the slopes were pleasantly uncrowded and peaceful. ⛷️
One day during my stay, it snowed about 2 inches, which made for great conditions! Except for the last day (when the snow was a bit slushy), the weather and snow quality were excellent. According to the forecast, they were expecting 6 more inches of snow the following week—snowing in May is pretty wild! ❄️🌨️
Most of the chairlifts on Peak 6 and Peak 7 had footrests, which made the ride up much more comfortable—no need to keep holding up your board the whole time. 👍
The staff were also incredibly friendly. One of them even lent me his personal screwdriver when I couldn’t find the right tool to tighten my snowboard bindings. 🛠️ Really appreciated that kind gesture!
Usually, parking 🅿️ at the resort isn’t free—weekday or weekend, you have to pay. But during Locals Appreciation Month in May, parking was free, which was a nice bonus! Breckenridge also offers a free shuttle bus around town. It runs about every 30 minutes and, while not super frequent, it’s still a convenient option if you don’t want to deal with parking.
Overall, despite some terrain being closed, it was a great late-season experience. I’d love to come back earlier in the season to explore more of the mountain! 🏔️

Fun for all ages; cold on top of the mountain, a light garment is advisable. Gondolas are free to hop in and out, coaster was great. A place for families with dogs, young and old alike. Love it!
We took the gondola up to Breckenridge Ski Resort — it’s the third stop — and when you get out, even in summer, there’s plenty to do. You can ride the mountain slide, play mini golf, or check out a few other fun activities. There’s a nice outside restaurant and bar area where you can relax, and I loved that they had big chess set up too.
Being up there was gorgeous — the mountain views are amazing. If you want to go even higher, you can take a chairlift up to the very top. I really enjoyed the whole experience. It’s a great spot to spend time in the summer, not just winter.

It's our first time in Breckenridge (my husband and I) and we're in love! We're definitely coming back. We don't ski, and we like to travel off season. We're here in the fall and loving every minute of it. There's so much to see and so many places to visit and drive through, it's never a dull moment. You don't want to drive anywhere? You can always hike the slopes and enjoy the views from up above. It reminds me of my childhood spent hiking in the Carpathian mountains. If you have a chance to come here even off season, take it. You won't regret it.
Fun summer day on the mountain, plenty to do for all ages. The gravity coaster is a blast as was the slide. Taking the chair lift to the top, and back down, gives you awesome views of the mountains and the valley.
Fun activities, alpine slides and alpine roller coasters, along with some other stuff like bungee trampolines. The alpine slides were very fun but the waits made them almost not worth it. And it was very expensive. Expect at least ~$100 dollars unless you only want to go on one ride (which would be ~$45) We also skipped lunch because of the crappy food that was also incredibly expensive, so bring your own.
So overall:
•Rides (Alpine slides specifically) - 5 stars
•Waits - 3 stars (An hour sometimes)
•Food - 1 star, didn’t even eat, too expensive for what they offered
Personally I would’ve gone on a beautiful hike for free but it was still a great day.
We loved this place, I can't help but to be honest that the people at the front desk are super friendly, but the maid service and workers doing renovations are not. Not 1 of them. My suspicion tells me it's because of their ethnicity and aren't treated fairly or equally. The resort itself is pretty beautiful with great amenities. My only advice would be....don't forget the people on the front lines.

Came in early October and it was beautiful! The aspens were all yellow and orange. This was a great place to go horseback riding. You get to see the gorgeous land and be immersed in the trees, the views alone are a 10/10. Billy was a fantastic tour guide! I truly cannot express enough how amazing this experience was. Coming in the off season (late October), we decided to go horseback riding to make up for no snow activities. I would almost say this was better! It was an extremely laid back experience and completely worth every penny. Our guide Luke was awesome, and it’s always nice when you can tell people love their jobs. He made us feel comfortable as inexperienced riders and promoted spacing out throughout the ride as opposed to nose-to-tail. Our horses Daisy and Fairplay were very smart and well-behaved. The scenery was stunning, and we even got some snow during the ride. We did the 2 hour ride and highly recommend. We’re so happy we chose to do this activity on our trip, and will happily return next time we come back to CO. Thank you guys at ASR!
We had a wonderful experience recently at American Safari Ranch. The facilities themselves are rustic and what one would expect at a horse ranch (not a dude ranch!) The horses were well trained and well matched to us. Luke and Billy, our guides, were very experienced and patient and made the 90 minute ride extremely enjoyable. Being able to ride side by side as opposed to nose to tail made the ride even better. We highly recommend American Safari Ranch!
We decided to spend our last day in FairPlay at American safari ranch and we were not disappointed! We booked a morning horseback ride that was beautiful and the staff was friendly and extremely helpful. We came back later in the day for an atv tour which was also amazing, I had never driven an atv but the tour guide showed me the ropes and I was good to go! Another helpful and friendly group of guides, I would highly recommend this place!
Went on a 2 hour ride with Billy as our guide! He was helpful, personable, and overall wonderful. And the trails were so fun to explore, even though we missed most of the changing leaves; the aspen groves were still so pretty. This was my first time here and I so hope I can come back! Thanks to the team there that makes it happen and takes care of the horses. Bonanza (aka Turtle) was stubborn but we got along like apple pie by the end :)
The horses are absolutely behaved and exceptional, the guides are always friendly and helpful, the views are stunning horseback up in the free range mountain, and the prices are the best I have ever seen. Just go! ❤️
I took my 8 yo daughter here for basically her first ride. They care about children and help boost their confidence and love for horses. Very kid friendly! Would give it 10 starts if I could!
Last time I was here we had Giselle as our guide (who was awesome!!) but this time we had Billy and he was great! He would tell us fun facts, tell us we were doing great and made it fun to be out on the trail. After we rode, we asked if we could stick around to pet the horses for a bit and they didn’t mind at all! Very lovely place, definitely want to come back!

He did an excellent job of helping us learn to control the horses as well as safety.As well as explaining the area from dangers to what to look for. He was also nice enough to take some take pictures for us.(Harder than you think to take a picture while riding a horse)The Ranch is beautiful to say the least. The staff was super friendly, talented, and educational. The lifts were fantastic and plentiful. After our long day, we took advantage of the lodge. Lots of food items, atmosphere, and IPA's.

I returned home today and I really didn't want to leave that paradise. It's a mixture of fun, tranquility and overwhelming scenery. The route through the mountain is challenging for those who don't know the place but are worth every minute in it. Well it’s been about 5 years since I did some downhill biking at Keystone and I can say without a doubt, it’s an absolute blast! All the changes and improvements have made this place a killer park!!
Great for family’s. Has everything you need. I would give it five stars, but there’s a lot of other resorts in Colorado. I would pick over Keystone.!
For early season skiing, with zero natural snow, they did a great job of covering Schoolmarm. Little icy, lots of idiots going too fast, but still a great day.

This is the best tubing hill in Fraser. My son and I had a blast. The staff were extremely friendly and the hills here are huge! I highly recommend this location for tubing. The walk to the lift can be a little tiring after a while, but that didn't take away from the blast we had on the hill. Thank you guys for such a fun time!
We had so much fun we came 2 days in a row from Westminster!!! Great time kids enjoyed it and was a fun experience for the whole family. We will definitely be coming back during the winter months and all year round in the future!!!
Overall, the experience was okay where it went bad is where they have ride operators. Just monitoring the gate, rather than having one person at the top of the hill with a walkie-talkie and another one at the bottom of a hill, to dictate ride safety. There was an accident where a grown man didn't wait and crashed into my 8 yr old child.
Do better and make a change. Waiver or no it's about a family's enjoyment.

Tubing experience was good. Major issue was the people management due to holiday season/overcrowding. Manager could have been more calm and composed during racists situation rather than acting out weirdly.
Ridiculous! Absolutely ridiculous! You book online, picking your date, coming and waiting to check in for an hour and a half, then you're waiting to pick up the tube for a couple of hours, then you're waiting to get on top for about 40 mins and you might be able to get 1 ride if you're lucky... This place makes no sense and no wonder they have a sign that they do no refunds because they don't provide a good service.
I understand that I came here on the Dec 29th but that's why I made a reservation in advance... So if you wanna waste your time standing in 3 different lines to get 1 ride come to this place lol
Such a blast. This is my second time coming here with the family and we always have a great time. They have a cozy fire pit and heater indoors to warm up. It wasn’t too packed even this time that we came during Christmas break. The views around are incredible as well.

Day visit during the Summer ... Only 1.5 hrs from Denver. The drive is breathtaking. Great customer service. We decided to book an e-bike tour the same day, last minute so we had to call. We did the Riverside tour but the mountain tour was also an option. If we had arrived earlier maybe we could have done both. Included with it was a day pass for the gondola and $12 drink voucher (can only be redeemed on resort owned restaurants. Our tour guide was great and very knowledgeable. The bikes were pretty comfortable. The only disappointment was the food options after.
Rooms were very nice. Not a hotel but hotel-like. Multiple restaurants were shutdown during our stay (the one we wanted to go to was shutdown for a private event) & restaurant shutdowns weren't mentioned when we booked. One of the 2 mountain slides was also shutdown. Other than that a nice place to visit.
Winter Park is a great family ski resort. Nice accommodations and cute little village. The stores do close down by 6pm or so, not a lot of nightlife but great for families that like to hang out.
The only downside was no air conditioning and at night the room was very warm and you couldn't open the bed room windows. And one of the rooms a family member was in( our meet up area) kitchen sink was backed up the entire time and maintenance came with a plunger but didn't fix the problem during the 3 days we were there.
Spoke with Nikki in Customer Service at 4:58pm (they close at 5pm). Was thankful she answered the phone and was extremely helpful! She stayed on the phone with me and tried to find an answer to my questions. Can't said enough kind things about Nikki and the team at Winter Park. We are headed there this summer for a concert and had some questions. We always have a great time skiing, but had a few questions about summer activities. Thank you Nikki!

The Georgetown Loop Railroad is a popular seasonal attraction that offers scenic train excursions and occasional themed rides, as well as tours of the Lebanon or Everett Silver Mines. This historic 3-foot narrow-gauge steam train takes passengers on a round-trip journey through stunning landscapes and dense evergreen forests to nearby Silver Plume. The experience includes optional stops for mine tours and gold panning activities.
We visited the Georgetown Loop Railroad for their Autumnfest festival, and it was a lovely experience—especially since it’s one of the closest scenic train rides to Denver. We reserved seats in the Parlor Class for three, which was quite comfortable and made the ride even more enjoyable.
The narrow-gauge train ride offered stunning views of the Rocky Mountains, and the fall colors made it even more magical. It’s a roundtrip journey with a stop at Silver Plume, where you can get off to explore a small museum. The restrooms at the stop were clean and well-maintained, which was a plus.
The staff onboard were exceptionally friendly, offering plenty of complimentary snacks and sodas throughout the ride. While the ride itself is relatively short, it was absolutely worth it—especially with kids.
We had also done the Pikes Peak train ride earlier, and this was a completely different experience—more relaxed and scenic in a unique way. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to do the gold mine tour, but overall, it was a fun and memorable outing.

We were visiting the general area for a few days and decided to give the Georgetown loop a try. We were there during the week and out on the first train of the day at 10 AM so the weather was a little brisk. We arrived approximately 30 minutes early to allow for parking and picking up our tickets. Parking turned out to not be a problem for us since we were the first train of the day, but I believe subsequent trains probably have more issues with the parking availability. We were told boarding would begin 15 minutes prior to the departure time. A line formed to have photos taken and to check tickets about 25 minutes prior. The boarding actually started a little late due to a large group from a senior home, but it was not a terrible wait. I was a little concerned with the number of people and making sure we had a good seat on the train, but there seems to be plenty of seating and it was an unwarranted concern. My husband and I sat in the very first car behind the engine on the way up, and the only thing I would say is to be aware of the sound from the whistle being a bit much after a while. The engine switched to the other end of the train for the way down and we did not have to endure it the second half of the trip. It wasn’t quite what I expected out of the trip, but we enjoyed it. I don’t know that I would ride again.
This is cute. Not sure I would do it again. Definitely get there 30 min- 1 hour before. You will need to go print your tickets, you can not use your email confirmation. Then get in line. The ride is about 1.5 hours and follows the stream/highway. Sit on the right side/ stream side of the train. The best pictures over the bridge are taken headed over it the first time. Not sure I would quite call this a loop railroad. More like a there and back. My only complaint is the cheap painted animal status along the way. They are cheesy and don’t add anything to the experience. The next is the Christmas decorations, not sure if they stay up year round to make it easier or if the are starting to decorate early. But definitely takes away from the experience.
Also make sure to get in line early if you want to pick your spot. Same goes for getting back on after the short stop. The stop is so short that unless you need to go to the restroom it’s not worth losing your seat.
We had so much fun! Definitely buy the tickets in advance, such a beautiful trip in the fall! Don’t forget to stop in the gift shop! Also, I didn’t see any reviews when I bought tickets to see if we could bring food, but they definitely allow you to bring food on the train and there is a stop in the middle so if you wanna get off and eat or stretch your legs or use the bathroom you will be able to do so.
This is a fun train ride. The time and distance is just under and hour the ride itself. There's additional gold panning options as well. My daughter loved this experience and is still talking about it. They staff are dressed for the period, very nice folks. Follow the rules and everyone returns with all of the limbs in place.
Very beautiful place to visit. The train ride was nice with a lot of amazing views with a small river running through the area. I would love to return at least once for each season. We went in autumn and got to see the colorful trees. All of the staff were cheerful and happy.

The locomotive is what you would imagine to look like in the old days when they were mining metals. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable (I personally really appreciated the dad jokes). Good facilities in regards to restrooms in several areas.
The ride itself was absolutely worth it - informative, fun, stunning views.
Super cute place. We went on the Santa’s Rocky Mountain Adventure, it was day time, but at night it would be amazing. We enjoyed seeing all the young children and the happy faces seeing Santa.

A must for train lovers.

At the top we ran into so many mountain goats and marmots! We hiked to the top, which was a short trail with some mild elevation gains. The elevation definitely made a huge difference. At the top, we were roughly at 14,225 feet!

Beautiful and not crowded! We love riding mountain bikes up to the top. There are some challenging spots on the trail, but overall it’s an easy ride. Quite a bit of climbing, but there’s not very many trails in Colorado that don’t have that. We have been here several times and always enjoy it.

Staunton State Park is a wonderful inheritance for the people and visitors in Colorado. This park is beautifully maintained and literally offers something for everyone. Whether you are young, old or disabled you can find nature waiting among the diverse environments of this close to 4,000 acre gem.
I went for a hike on the Davis Pond Loop. It offered great views of beautiful alpine meadows against the backdrop of towering rock walls. I was encouraged by the signage explaining that people with disabilities can get access to motorized “track chairs” capable of negotiating many of the trails on site. I know some people that would love to be able to get out in nature but are limited by their mobility. Now they can enjoy the park.
The park is easy to get to. It is typically less than an hour’s drive from Denver along scenic Highway 285. Since it is Colorado’s newest state park it boasts state-of-the-art facilities. Everyone will appreciate the clean vault toilets found at trailheads and plenty of parking.
Do yourself a favor and check out this park. You will be glad that you did.
This is my favorite hiking haven. It is challenging. But the sprawling vistas are well worth it. Take 45-60 min to slowly getting up to the overlooks and you'll be glad you did. Wildlife is everywhere out here. The deer are even curious (see the video) 😁

Third time visiting Staunton State Park this year from Denver. It is classic mountain beauty.
Do note that Elk pond is drained for maintenance a so don’t expect to fish there.
The employees and volunteers at the visitor center are great! They helped me pick the right hikes and where interest in what I saw during them.
I have seen many amazing plants and animals on my hikes. Take the time and pay attention the lichens and mosses and see a whole little world.
Everything is well maintained and signs are clear. Though it would nice to have elevation changes on the sign. Having the distances on the sign are helpful, just don’t forget you have to hike back.
Beautiful views and trails in what feels like a hidden gem in the state park system. There were trails for all abilities but ended up doing an almost 10 mile hike and got to see only half of the park at most. Can’t recommend enough
One of the better Colorado State Parks with smooth nice trails and everything is pretty well maintained safe for all ages. There are many outdoor activities to do here at this park, Even with a gravel bike you can make most all the trails with ease . . I biked in and paid 4.00 day pass which I feel is worth it. On 6/9/2025 THe park was pretty magical with barely any dogs and peacefully with minimal people . . .
Staunton is beautiful with well-maintained trails (thank you a State Parks Staff), gorgeous views, panoramic vistas, good parking options and restrooms. We found nice small stands of aspens with great color on our hike last week on the Old Mill and Borderline trails. I’m sure weekends are super busy but we enjoyed a quiet weekday hike. I highly recommend Staunton State Park

The views here left us spellbound! I loved the sight of downtown Denver from such a height. We took loads of photos and saw Buffalo Bill's grave. Heard the sunset here rocks!

You can see eastward towards Denver and beyond on a clear day (unfortunately, it rained as you can see in the photos).

Visited July 2024. The views are fantastic at the top of the mountain. There is a big parking lot so you can drive up, park, walk about 5 minutes to Buffalo Bill's grave, and then visit the museum or gift shop for an ice cream break. It's a bit of a drive from the other big attractions in Denver, but it's worth the visit if you enjoy history.

This is a VERY beautiful place. You can see Golden, Boulder, Denver, and probably more. We did this as part of the Lariat Loop (HIGHLY RECOMMEND). It was a great place to take in the scenery. The gift shop was closed when we were there, which was a bummer. We were looking forward to that, but can’t complain about the rest!

Great little museum that highlights Buffalo Bill, his shows and his positive impact on the people around him. Great displays of saddles, cloths, guns and guns from his colorful life. Cost is very reasonable and The Cody burial site (he and his wife) is just a short walk up the hill.
The museum was interesting and the tickets were extremely reasonable at $5/piece. Gives you access to real bathrooms as well, which was better than the porta potty options outside. The museum had a lot to see and read, along with the gravesite outside. Spent about 30-45 minutes here. The view was nice from up there as well.
I was driving along I-70 W from Denver when I spotted the sign for Buffalo Bill’s Grave and decided to take a spontaneous detour . One of the best road trip decisions I’ve made!
The drive up Lookout Mountain took about 10 minutes and I even made a quick stop for amazing ground coffee at Et Voila French Bakery nearby.
There’s no admission fee to visit the grave and the site has plenty of free parking. You can easily walk around or just stop at one of the scenic overlooks for a breathtaking 360 degree view of the mountains and Denver below.
It’s immediately clear why Buffalo Bill himself wanted to be buried here the view alone is worth the trip.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to visit the museum, but the historic grave, the peaceful setting and the panoramic views made it absolutely worthwhile. A real piece of American history, beautifully preserved and easy to access. Perfect quick stop for anyone traveling along I-70!
Tip: Bring a camera — the views and the monument are incredibly photogenic.

I had heard the name Buffalo Bill but certainly did not know what an impact he had on this area. it was a lot of fun to explore the museum and see the mountain towns from the overlook.
Very cool little museum. Tons of personal artifacts from the Cody family and lots of good Buffalo Bill history. Wish the gift shop and cafe were still open. Good little stop outside of Denver and you can explore the Denver Mountain parks.
Before visiting I had a good idea of who Buffalo Bill was but after visiting here. Wow, this guy was something truly amazing and lived quite the life.
The museum had a ton of amazing artifacts, guns, Native American artifacts and even stuff to keep the tweens busy.
I would visit again if I come back to Golden again.
Highly suggest checking this out and the view is quite amazing up there! 😎
Our first trip to Denver, and this was a must see. The museum is quiet, clean, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the museum and the surrounding area. The view was breathtaking, literally. If you have ANY sort of fear of heights at all, I don't recommend the trip up, or the lookout area. For us though, it was great and I do think everyone that can handle the height should experience this.

The sound quality was impressive too. Every note carried beautifully through the space. No doubt about it—we’re already looking forward to the next visit.

Wow. Wow. Wow. First time here for a concert, and this place is BONKERS cool! Great views. Obviously. Great sounding show. Good food and beverage access and options. I need to come back during the day and check out the museum and the surrounding areas. Sooo cool!
We had seen it years back and we still decided to come back again in Nov 2025. We took some time to hike back side (entrance 2)of the Amphitheatre and it was nice. We only did small part of hike due to time, but one could spend a day.
Magnificent amphitheater from the surroundings to the engineering and design. If you ever get the opportunity to see a concert or service….go. Amphitheater looks to the east so sunrise services are spectacular and one is not looking into the sun for evening concerts. We were there and they were testing the sound system…. Quite impressive in an empty amphitheater. Take a look at the museum below and see the hall of fame performers.
Always delivers! Visit and experience the museum! The restaurant is also really good with plenty of outdoor seating. Love the history and that it is completely accessible to the public. There are also miles and miles of trails to enjoy the stunning beauty! If you are lucky enough to go to an actual concert, it is super!

I thought there might be more of a trail system like garden of the Gods but it was all just paths to and from parking lots to the amphitheater. I was not there for a performance, jusy wanted to see the famed area. It is beautiful, there is some interesting info in the visitors center but its really just a performance venue. Maybe I wil return for a concert, im sure its an amazing experience.

If you plan to go make sure to get online 25 days prior. Reservations are released daily. I didn’t realize it would be so booked and we almost missed out. Luckily, we were able to get on the waitlist and checked hourly for cancellations.

Had a great time at the Coors Brewery tour. The tour lasts about an hour and they give you three samplers along the way. They talk through the history of Coors, how they brew their beer, distribution and manufacturing. Our guide was great and he welcomed and answered any questions along the way. Only downside was some of the corporate "greenwashing" that felt a bit forced by our tour guide which could have been skipped.
If you're stopping by golden you are already headed to the Coors tour so you don't need my opinion, but it's a fun tour and highly recommended.
As a beer lover, I've done a number of brewery tours over the years. But touring Coors in Golden, CO was like the holy grail. It's the largest single site brewery IN THE WORLD!! The tour was very informative, not just about the brewery and the brewing process, but also about Coors' history. AND there are beer samples throughout the tour. However, even if you don't like beer, I highly recommend it.

Even though we weren’t able to take the full tour (it was booked out two weeks), visiting the hospitality lounge and exhibits was more than worth it. What made it truly special wasn’t just the history of beer and the creative displays—it was the heart behind it all.
Seeing the Semper Fidelis Award presented to Peter H. Coors for his dedication to community, family, and country spoke volumes. The fact that he’s not only the chairman, but also a man who served this nation, added a whole new layer of respect. On our way out, we even overheard employees sharing how Peter still stops by to greet the staff—that kind of humility and presence is rare in leadership today.
Between the veteran memorials, folded flags, challenge coins, and that deep sense of loyalty and gratitude, Coors showed us it’s more than just a brewery. It’s a place where history, service, and community come together—and that’s why this visit will stay with us.

The Flatirons, a collection of five large, slanting sandstone formations that create Boulder's iconic backdrop, are easily visible from all over the city. The Open Space Mountain Parks area serves as an excellent starting point for admiring the Flatirons and accessing various hiking routes. Additionally, parking is available on Baseline Road, although it tends to fill up quickly.
Wow what an incredible hike! We did the Royal Arch Trail and then continued on the Blue Loop. Definitely difficult, it took us a little under an hour to hike to the Arch, we took minimal breaks. Enjoyed a PB&J at the top with the chipmunks who are overly friendly. (We did not feed them).

What a great hike! Jay at the welcome station was awesome and took his time explaining to us our options. We took our time as we arrived the day before and ensured we were hydrated.
The scrambles are absolutely amazing…. But please be careful, you can get in trouble if you go past your level of skill and confidence. Some of them might require climbing shoes, some others can be done with running shoes. Make sure you check a route that matches your experience in scrambling/climbing… and don’t forget to enjoy the views!

It’s a great trekking place. So plan ahead. You need good hours so you can trek and be back. If not you can be in the fields for a good view and photos. But worth the drive.
Nice trails and you can freesolo 2 of them, with experiences and caution of course. Be safe from weather changes.

Chautauqua Park is pure Boulder magic. 🌿 The Flatirons rise dramatically above you, and Gregory Canyon offers a quieter, more peaceful trail if you want to step away from the crowds. Here’s the insider tip: go on a weekday. Parking is far less stressful, the trails are calmer, and you really get to soak in the beauty without the weekend rush.
If you need trail snacks or a little post-hike fuel, Whole Foods Market is close by, and if you’re here on a Wednesday, the Boulder Farmers Market is just a 5-minute drive or a scenic 25-minute walk from the park. Fresh fruit, local bites, and mountain views? Yes, please.
Between the hikes, the views, and the Boulder charm, Chautauqua is an absolute must if you want to experience the heart of the Rockies. 🌄
The cabins are very pleasant. Clean and comfortable Rustic but with wifi and in summertime you can sit outside and listen to the concerts in the Chautauqua concert venue. The paths on either side of the village of cabins are perfect good for a short hike or wood up to the mountain top. I saw bear cat, which means bears usually and a beautiful dear couple hugging the road - people safety- and that buck had a very big rack. Well it’s still there pretty much as it’s always been. I highly recommend a visit. A few of the cabins are privately owned so that gives the atmosphere appear something better than a campground. There’s an ice cream shop so be prepared to put on a pound and the restaurant is good for a few meals at least before you get tired. I hope their menu coffee is goodand so is the breakfast
We waited until late afternoon to go, when the parking lot wasn't so full. The hike, though rated easy, might be a little challenging for some. Just take your time and you'll get to the turnaround on the Chautauqua trail around the .85 mile mark. After that, it's mostly downhill!
Make sure you have plenty of water.

You need to park a bit far tho and walk. It’s an outdoor mall style. You need to dine if you want to use a decent restroom. Parking is not free, but not expensive .

Absolutely wonderful area to have a drink, eat, shop, or just wander around looking at people. Lots of the restaurants on the mall have patios or rooftop decks. They have banned on the bricks every Wednesday night during the summer. Very festive atmosphere! We loved it!

This is a first time at the Pearl Street mall, and what a great vibe. The shops were so cute, and what an amazing variety. We had lunch down there as well, and it was delicious. Such a lovely spot!
Super fun time just walking around. Got some souvenir shirts. Ate dinner at Salt. My favorite store was the Boulder Bookstore. So cute and surprisingly huge. Enjoyed our time here just walking and people watching.
Parking is a max of $3 on weekdays and free on weekends. Easy experience paying. Just scan the code and pay by phone.
If you can think it, they sell it here! It’s a smoke free vape free outdoor area that is pet friendly with every conceivable shopping need met! They have street food and some amazing restaurants. They have unique candy stores , clothing, stores, and much much more. There is live music sporadically posed in different spots throughout the area and there are people busking and performing many different musical instruments. I heard a harp,guitar, drums and a live choir singing a-cappella while I was there yesterday. This is definitely something to experience. I give it a 10 out of 10.!!!

The Butterfly Pavilion, located in Westminster, is a 7,200 square-foot tropical rainforest and insect zoo that opened in 1995. It houses over 1,500 butterflies from around the world as well as numerous other insect species and over 200 plant species. The climate-controlled conservatory features five exhibit areas including four indoor halls, outdoor gardens, and nature trails.
Fantastic place to bring kids and enjoy looking at all kinds of bugs and fish. If you are local, it is nice to get the membership since it's a great winter activity for all ages. The building isn't very big so average time to go through it is probably 1-2 hours at most, but the play area for kids is great.

Pretty small, but not too expensive! There’s lots of opportunities to learn, and would be perfect for younger kids! The outdoor butterfly area is beautiful, and full of great photo moments. Our visit to the Butterfly Pavilion was absolutely magical from beginning to end! It’s such a unique and joyful experience that brings out your inner child, no matter your age. From the moment we entered, we were surrounded by vibrant colors, fluttering wings, and an atmosphere full of wonder. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about sharing their love for butterflies and other fascinating creatures.
Walking through the tropical conservatory felt like stepping into another world. Butterflies floated gracefully all around us, landing softly on flowers—and even on us! It was amazing to see so many different species up close, each more beautiful than the last. We also enjoyed exploring the other exhibits, learning about spiders, beetles, and aquatic animals. Rosie the tarantula was definitely a highlight! The Pavilion does a wonderful job of making learning fun and engaging for all ages. Everything was well-maintained, clean, and thoughtfully designed.
By the end of our visit, we left with big smiles, stunning photos, and a newfound appreciation for these delicate creatures. The Butterfly Pavilion is truly a place where nature, beauty, and curiosity come together. Highly recommended for families and nature lovers alike!
We were planning to do some hiking in a canyon on our last afternoon in Colorado, but the day was so hot and the sun was so bright so we looked for something to do inside and found this place. We were very glad we did! We enjoyed all the butterflies, and the children especially enjoyed the VR headset experience. The huge play area for young children was a huge hit as well. A little expensive, but we really enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for something to do inside or to break the pace from exploring Colorado’s beautiful scenery.

I was admittedly a bit bummed that one of the most well known aspects of this place (holding tarantulas) was no longer happening as of September. Have lived in CO for several years and missed out! It’s a cool place for the butterfly room in particular. Geared more toward children elementary school age and down, took my friend and I a little less than an hour to walk through.
Absolutely love this place. Family friendly and very informative. They always have different butterflies each time I visit making each trip different. Staff is always friendly and willing to answer any questions you may have. This is my favorite place to visit.
