Pokagon State Park

Park
Nature & Parks
State Parks
Park includes a swimming beach, guided horse rides, toboggan run, nature center, campsites & inn.
And this was an absolutely gorgeous campground. We had a very nice site. Our loop had 2 shower houses with restrooms. The water pressure was not great and it could have been a little bit warmer, but in August, it felt good. We were there midweek, so it wasn't very crowded. We pulled out on Saturday morning and it was quite a different atmosphere but still a quiet night.
Kathy's C — Google review
Nice park with quite a bit to see and do. There are 9 well maintained trails, highly recommend the first part of trail 3 and all of trail 9. Hell's point was ok, but not quite the view we anticipated. Along with trails, the park offers an Inn/cabins, lake(s), a beach, toboggan run, skiing, stables, nature center, and a variety of landscapes that's perfect for photos!
Becky B — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pokagon State Park is one of my absolute favorite places to visit — and I’ve been there many times! Every season offers something new and special. In the summer, the hiking and biking trails are incredible, and the lake is perfect for swimming, boating, and kayaking. In the fall, the colors are breathtaking and the park feels like a peaceful escape into nature. What I love most is how well the park is maintained. The trails are clean and clearly marked, the staff is friendly, and the facilities are always in great shape. Whether I’m staying at the Potawatomi Inn, camping with friends, or just visiting for the day, I always leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. The Toboggan Run in the winter is such a unique experience — it’s a must-try! It’s one of the few places in the region where you can have that kind of fun outdoors in the cold months. Pokagon truly has something for everyone — nature lovers, families, photographers, or anyone just looking to unwind. It’s a gem of Indiana, and I’ll keep coming back for years to come.
Christopher S — Google review
Love this place! Something fun for everyone! Our family group of between 20-30 people has been coming here for decades! Improvements needed: better beach access (like a boat ramp or be allowed to use the access road), bathrooms in the 400s are BAD. Overly attentive rangers except when you need them.
Michelle P — Google review
This is a delightful park in autumn. Walking/ hiking trails of all levels. They wind through and around woods, wetlands, lakes, and a bit of open prairie. I'm sure the toboggan run is great fun, but hey, Ft. Harrison park has a great sledding hill but nobody typecasts it for that. Enjoy Pokagon for its other loveliness.
Becky T — Google review
It was a beautiful experience to walk some of the trails. Beautiful State Park! We also venture to the Inn to eat. It was wonderful food, but a little on the pricey side in my opinion. We wanted to enjoy lunch there as a treat to us. We plan to be back to walk around more and also hope to camp there sometime!
Tiffany ( — Google review
This place id amazing!! 10 out of 10 highly recommend! Best state park I have ever been to in this nation! And I have been to state parks in 34 states!
James V — Google review
Beautiful visit as always. 1st big snow of this season. Always enjoy walking and driving around Pokagon State Park. The Potowatomi Inn is always a nice spot for lunch and to warm up after our morning walks.

Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum

Museum
Historical landmark
Museum & gift shop dedicated to classic cars, including Auburn, Cord & Duesenberg models.
Like Stepping Into a Great Gatsby Movie! My wife and I visited the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum today, and it honestly felt like we were walking onto the set of The Great Gatsby. The whole place has this incredible 1920s-30s vibe—elegant, classy, and full of charm. The staff was super welcoming, and our host was especially friendly, which made the experience even better. The first floor is the original showroom from back in the day, and it still feels grand. The Auburn and Cord cars on display are absolutely stunning—sleek, bold, and full of character. Up on the third floor, the Gallery of Excellence showcases rare and unusual cars built right here in Indiana. Some of them were unlike anything we’d ever seen! Even if you’re not a car enthusiast, this museum is a total gem. It’s a mix of history, design, and vintage style that really transports you. If you’re anywhere near Auburn, do yourself a favor and check it out!
Raul H — Google review
What an extraordinary collection of many authentic and some very well restored automobiles that represent a unique highlight of American engineering and craftsmanship. These were completely handmade cars, much like Bentley's and Rolls-Royce's in England and in some ways, more stylish and more creative. . A real treat to be able to get up close and enjoy the rather large collection inside the original manufacturing facility and showroom. The museum has a pretty cool gift shop and all proceeds go to its maintenance and upkeep as a nonprofit institution. If you're into classic cars, then It's worth the trip. Go check it out!
D ( — Google review
This is a wonderful place to see. I had 2 hours to spend and wished i had more. These cars are works of art, a feast for the eyes with attention to details we do not have today. Seeing such beauty has an effect on your soul and your imagination. I will be going back when i can spend a whole day.
Deborah S — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the museum. There was a wonderful collection of stunning cars and information to take in. We only wish we had more time to explore and really take in the beauty of them all. If you're in the area, you should definitely visit.
Leah T — Google review
A great museum for the car lover. It's in the old Auburn Auto HQ so the restored art deco building is on display along with a great collection of cars and the history of the brands (Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg). I would recommend the National Auto & Truck Museum which is right behind and in the old Auburn factory. It's heavy on muscle cars and International bricks but worth the stop. You can do both on 3-6hrs depending on how you like to museum.
Joe M — Google review
What a wonderful car museum. I didn’t know what to expect going in since I wasn’t so familiar with the brands, but the story of the company was fascinating. They have a shocking number of cars in the art deco building, which is something of an attraction itself, and many of the cars have their own interesting histories. The styling on these cars from the 1920s and 30s was really sharp too. It’s definitely a great spot to spend an afternoon if you like museums or cars at all.
Mateo G — Google review
This is a beautiful Museum filled with historical information of the rise and fall of one of America's premier auto manufacturers. So much to see, read and learn about America's Auto history and the beauty of the these vehicles. Interesting for women too!

The hotel provides beautiful standard rooms with top-notch amenities, including a stunning two-level pool with small fountains. Love this place. My first time there. Greeted with friendly rewards desk. Staff was so helpful. I loved that it had so many slots, games and awesome food choices. This place is so clean. The slots were pretty loose and I did good. I can't wait to go back. You must check this casino out.
Donna W — Google review
Took a side trip to visit the FireKeepers Casino while staying in Battlecreek MI. Had a good time losing my money as one usually does when visiting a casino. Remember the house always wins. Regardless the sheer volume of machines and varieties was astounding. I do believe I have not seen so many different games in one place outside of Las Vegas than I saw here. I will definitely come back
CNN F — Google review
Well it was our 31st anniversary. Never ever been here. The casino is meh OK. The room as we arrived was clean. We stayed two days. No housekeeping the second day. Guess we’re going back to Covid! Ha! Security that didn’t really know said you godda request housekeeping?? At $189 per night you’d think they would make bed and bring clean towels. Nope no way. Never going back.
Jill S — Google review
Three is my overall rate it'll go up if I win. So gamble responsible people because when you lose your money somebody else is smiling. overall it's a clean facility the staff is pretty friendly the gambling is fun. There's lots to see there and do.
David H — Google review
We have never been to FireKeepers Casino before. We had a weekend where we could get away and decided to go and spend the night on property. Property, our room, and the overall Hotel layout were great. Long story short, we were very disappointed with the casino gaming floor area. The flow on the floor was a cluster. No rhyme or reason. It's like they built the casino, and added new wings where ever they could find the space. It is huge, but again very confusing as to where to start, play, etc. We hunted for iver any hour before we found a drink station! Also we had to stop someone that worked there as to how we could find rewards registration as new guests. It was on the opposite side of the casino floor! Im guessing about 2 city blocks away. We decided to call it a night after an hour, so we checked out the on site restaurants. Again, another long story short, we decided to leave property and go to a chain steak house in Battle Creek. The property restaurants had many of the same options, and at REDICULOUS prices. $19 for a plain burger. Anything else added to the meal was ala carte. We actually save money by leaving property, and got steak instead of a burger and fries. Maybe it is just us, but it was not a fun experience as we had hoped it would have been. We ended up spending most of the evening in our room watching Netflix. Sorry Firekeepers. I highly doubt we'll return.
Grant H — Google review
We always have a great time at Firekeepers! We don’t always win but always have excellent food and service. We have been coming to the Halloween party for quite a few years now and look forward to it each year! The Italian Grinder at Dacy’s is worth the drive! Thank you so much!! 🙏
Lexie C — Google review
This is the worst experience ever. Such a nice hotel should never allow such thing. My cats didn't work after coming down to front desk twice trying to activate the key and still not working, they said they are sending someone to fix it. I left waiting for 30 minutes like a homeless with no one helping. Came down again angry, no apology, only saying they are trying to get to it. We'll, I am tired and my stuff in the room and I am standing for 30 minutes in a hope for that to be fixed. Finally service guy showed up, it turned out the key was the reason and they couldn't figure it out at the front desk despite me going down 3 times to get it checked. Ruined the whole night and planned to watch the game and sleep early for work next day. Disgusting. I wish I can give service lower rating than that. Didn't even bother apologizing for a mistake they did
Fady S — Google review
We stayed in a renovated room and the are gorgeous! Feels like Vegas! The casino is smoke-free so it doesn't get any better. There are many restaurants around the casino and a fairly large sports betting area as well as table games. The slot floor is huge and it appears more than 80% of the machines are newer.

Parkview Field, a minor-league baseball stadium, not only hosts baseball games but also serves as a venue for concerts. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful view of the field from any seat, thanks to protective nets that cover most of them. In addition to numerous food stations and well-organized merchandise shops selling quality products at reasonable prices, there is a walking path and splash pad for visitors' enjoyment. During baseball games, spectators can expect classic minor league fun with contests and silly activities between innings.
Parkview Field was amazing! Such a gorgeous ballpark, and so much fun. I think the lawn section's the best part.

Best High-A park in America. Great place to watch baseball and the Tin Caps. Holiday light shows, fireworks, and always having activities for the kids.

Parkview Field, home of the Fort Wayne TinCaps, is a great ballpark with plenty of seating and a nice layout. There’s a good variety of food options, and the picnic area makes it easy for families or groups to relax and enjoy the game. Overall, it’s a well-kept, welcoming place to catch a ballgame.

I’m not a huge sports girl but I love coming here for a Tincaps game! The place is super nice and clean, and there are so many seating options and food options. Workers are super friendly. Also important to note that on very hot days, you are allowed to bring in your own water bottles!

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Non-profit organization
The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo is a sprawling wildlife haven with over 1,000 animals from around the globe. Visitors can embark on an adventure through various themed areas such as African Journey, Australian Adventure, and Indonesian Rainforest. The zoo offers interactive experiences like hand-feeding giraffes and observing playful capuchin monkeys at Monkey Island. Guests can also witness feeding frenzies at Sea Lion Beach and enjoy watching penguins in their pool.
A great zoo with lots to do along with seeing animals! Ropes course, train ride, river ride, and more which kids loved them all. First time I saw a ropes course with a toddler sized level which my 3.5 year old loved. It's also nice they don't charge for the adult to go with the smaller children that require supervision. We were there 11:30a-5p and still didn't get to see and do it all so definitely an all day adventure. As others have noted, go to the African area first to feed the giraffes before they get full for the day. We did not follow that advice and didn't get there until the end of the day and they weren't interested in coming over. Still beautiful to look at 😊 Buying admission tickets online in advance gets a small discount and getting the all day unlimited ride wristband is worth it if planning to do most or all of the rides.

Best Zoo, Best Caretakers and Best Family W environment! So worth you visit - we buy the family pass and take my granddaughters often for the best time ever. Today we rode the log boats, the train and the carousel. We were there for 3 hours today and it was crazy how few people where there - it was like we had the entire zoo to ourselves at times. (Kids are back in school, it's a Wednesday...) So it wasn't nearly as busy as usual on weekends. We had an extra special time we we were not rushed feeling like others needed to see the animals etc...
Ken B — Google review
Honestly this zoo was so amazing. It is gorgeous with super immersive enclosures and tons of green space. The staff were all extremely kind and informative. I could tell they genuinely cared about their work and the zoo itself. The animals all seemed to be very happy and we got to see so many goofy and wonderful creatures. My partner and I had a blast here and within 25 mins we were already talking about how great it was and said we would absolutely be back. There are lots of places to rest as well. I have back problems and need to sit every once in awhile and I never had problems finding a place to rest. With breaks and taking our time the whole zoo took us around 3 hours to explore. It was excellent and I can't wait to go back someday. ☺️
Shelby C — Google review
Been a member here for 11 years now. I take the kiddos to the Zoo atleast once a week. It's a fun and interactive place to take the kids whenever you feel like getting out of the house. The kids enjoy seeing the animals and running around the zoo and I like the fact the kids are exhausted afterwards and the car ride home is peaceful 😂
Thi A — Google review
Prices are relatively high, but it is a great experience for people of all ages. Staff is very friendly and informative. There are also areas where you can interact with some of the animals directly, such as feeding the giraffes and grooming the goats. Highly recommend.
Cera G — Google review
Happy animals. Knowledgeable staff. This place is a must see! The animals are quite active. The rides are subpar and not worth paying extra. Do not go pn the sky ride. It is a waste of time and you cannot see any animals. I think a warning about this would be nice as it wasted a lot of our time.
Mika P — Google review
1st time visiting, from Ohio. Was VERY ENJOYABLE! Loved the landscaping, lots of green lush vegetation, streams, small hills which were doable for us folks who have difficulty walking around larger zoos! Favorites for me were the Giraffe Feeding station, wide open areas of Savannah with the Zebra, Wildebeest, Ostrich, the Rainforest, and Stingray Bay experience. The "Sky Safari" lift, ZO&O Railroad, and Crocodile Creek Adventure Log ride were all well worth the extra money! All lasted a good amount of time compared with other zoos and VERY relaxing, much appreciated rest while viewing exhibits, nice lake, and beautiful autumn leaves changing! Amazing views from the Sky Safari lift!!!! People need to know it does not actually go near or over the animal enclosures, which the name sort of implies (I get why it shouldn't go directly over though). Very enjoyable! ALL animal of course were fascinating to watch. Habitats realistic! We got to see almost everything in 5 hours. The Alligator actually fascinated me the most, which is surprising since i don't pay much attention to them usually. It was right up front at the glass viewing window floating vertically so we could see just how large it was compared to US! The kids were standing there in awe! Loved the Red Pandas, Tigers, Monkeys, white Pelicans, and of course the new male lion, "Kiume" and his lioness "Ina". The wheel of scenarios next to their exhibit, showing how difficult it is to find and KEEP food was heart breaking but very educational!! There were 2 exhibits that made me feel a bit concerned for the animals. I'm no expert and maybe I wasn't seeing everything. First was the indoor Orangutan exhibit. Beautiful creatures sitting on the bare "trees" with no green vegetation and a cement floor. :-( Their natural habitats are rainforests, right? So I'd think they would be happier living in an area like your Rainforest exhibit! The adults looked very bored and "depressed". Hopefully their outdoor exhibit is better! My second concern was for the Serval. I only saw 1 in the enclosure, watching it a good 10 minutes just staying in one small area in front pacing back and forth, making a huffing sound-appearing like it was very stressed!! Was that because its mate wasn't around? Or was it smelling the Mongoose exhibit close by, frustrated it can't chase them? The enclosure itself didn't look large enough for Servals to stretch out and run! Is there a section the public isn't able to see? There were no zoo staff nearby to ask. I was gonna give a rating of "4" to the zoo because of these concerns but since all the other exhibits were so well done decided on "5". Also appreciated the Staff who were present being super friendly and helpful. VERY CLEAN EVERYWHERE as well! In the future would be nice if you offered a couple days a week with extended hours. When we had to leave at 5pm many of the animals were just starting to wake up and become active. Toledo zoo in Ohio, for ex, stays open until 8pm on Thursdays and Fridays, even in October. Overall, EXCELLENT, EDUCATIONAL, and FUN EXPERIENCE! Highly recommend for ALL ages!!! Thank you!

Love the Fort Wayne Zoo. We have a membership and I've been on several work outings as well, this is one of the best zoo's I know of within hours of Fort Wayne. The park nearby is also excellent.

Gilmore Car Museum

Museum
Specialty Museums
Sprawling museum home to 400 cars & motorcycles, plus a restored 1941 diner still serving pecan pie.
We loved this place, perfect for all car lovers, beautiful buildings, even more beautiful cars from all eras! The small town setup is unbelievable, the "diner" was awesome. Will come back to this area again just see this museum a second time and partake in the driving class also.

It’s a pleasant surprise to find so many antique cars from around the world here. The site even has separate buildings dedicated to different makers such as Ford, Cadillac, and others, featuring everything from steam engines to modern cars. There are also vintage gas stations and a classic diner on-site. The venue routinely hosts vintage car and motorcycle shows. While admission is a bit pricey, the park is a good size, and you could easily spend an entire day if you watch all the exhibit videos. A wonderful place that brings back old-time memories.

This is an awesome place to go if you’re looking for something to do. Buildings of restored cars, antiques, trucks, buses and motorcycles. From the very 1st car and up. Games that you can play along the way. Car track that you can race with remote controls. One of the 1st cars that you can listen to directions and start. Great place! Winner for grandparents to take grandchildren out for day. My grandson and I had a great time!

Attended a private event in the evening for our work’s conference and it was an absolute blast! So much history and opportunities to enjoy the cars on display and the grounds are absolutely beautiful! There is an old diner were we enjoyed frozen custard and it was honestly the best frozen custard I ever had! The staff were all eager to talk with you and teach you about the museum. This is definitely something I want to experience again with my family! Did I mention I got to drive in some of the old vehicles!!! I felt like a little kid! Everybody should visit at some point!

Don't think twice, go see! The best collection of cars I've ever seen! We just left and I'm ready to go back. The facility is pristine, the cars sparkle, landscaping manicured down to the individual blade of grass. A wedding was taking place when were we there so we weren't able to go in one of the buildings as to not interrupt the ceremony, but got to talking to Fred that works there and he took us into the events center and gave us a personal tour and story behind the connection between Mr Gilmore and Walt Disney and how their relationship came to be. Fred was WONDERFUL!!! Spent so much time with us talking about the history of everything. Couldn't thank him enough! We look forward to coming back especially with all of the special events they host. This classic car girl had the time of her life today!!!!

Fabulous ambiance walking through the buildings and yard of one of the most spectacular car museums around! What a great history. I was a bit surprised that there seemed very little information on the Gilmore family and this amazing contribution to the public. I found a very small sign with some information by one of the cars. Guess what?!!….this car museum is interesting and fun to visit even if you’re not a big car enthusiast! The drive to get here was beautiful and the grounds are beautiful.

This place is large and full of unique vehicles to view. The layout is well organized and planned. Each manufacturer is represented in their own garage. I loved seeing the concept vehicles the most. We had so much fun!

Great collection of classic automobiles spread amongst many buildings built to hold the collections. Exhibits change constantly so always worth the trip to see what's new.

Blue Gate Theatre in Shipshewana is a popular venue that offers a comfortable and entertaining experience for both locals and tourists. With a seating capacity of 330, the theater hosts a wide range of events, including over 300 shows by more than 100 artists. Visitors can enjoy live performances such as plays, musicals with Amish storylines, and concerts featuring various genres from country to gospel. The venue's small size ensures good views from all seats and easy access to amenities like concessions.
This is beautiful venue. It's a smaller venue which makes every seat a good seat. We were stage left 12 rows back. There are not balcony seats. The sound is spectacular. It's about a 2 hour drive for me but it was totally worth it and I will be going again
Robbin S — Google review
I've heard other shows are great, but the Salute to the Stars, was pretty bad. We thought it was amateur. Three aging impersonaters, with little stage presence, stumbling through lyrics. The George Strait impersonater couldn't pretend to strum the guitar. Their "Reba" had a good voice on her own, but didn't sound like Reba. Elvis couldn't reach his notes, and laughed when he flubbed the lyrics on songs he's likely sang 1000 times. We deserved better. Disappointed we spent $30 per ticket AND the time.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Blue Gate Theater is such an impressive venue! The walls lined with signed guitars from past artists are worth checking out on their own. The theater itself is set up beautifully—there’s not a bad seat in the house, every view feels close and personal. We saw Crowder here and it was an incredible experience. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy a great show in a welcoming atmosphere!

A wonderful experience! We were able to meet both authors and get our books signed . We watched the drama "The Rise and Fall of Miss Fannies Biscutts" it was a delightful story and supurb acting and singing. Well worth the trip to see it. All the food in the buffet was excellent. We had a very helpful and friendly wait on our table. Would highly recommend the whole experience.

Saw the Amish themed show, the Rise and Fall of Miss Fanny's biscuits musical, it was very good. Everyone had excellent voices. We really enjoy the show. There's a lot of comfortable seating Well worth the $40 tickets. Not fancy but really good!

The band had a great sound. The theater was the perfect size, not too small, not too big. The seats were comfortable. This was a fun concert! I will definitely return.
Shari M — Google review
The atmosphere is awesome, the auditorium is small so there really isn't a terrible seat (some are obviously better)- but it's not like a giant stadium or something. Pay attention to your tickets for the address, Google maps wants to take you to the Blue Gate Restaurant but that is not the Theater venue- it's a few blocks away.
Loswife — Google review
Ohhh this place was awesome, we had the buffet, you can get the same food in the restaurant. The Amish cook wonderful tasting foods. If you're in shipschewanna,Indiana drop in for a great time and good food. I almost forgot you can get a meal and show ,they have shows pretty regularly.

The Air Zoo Aerospace & Science Museum is a state-of-the-art facility that offers a unique and educational experience for the whole family. Located between Detroit and Chicago, it provides hands-on fun and limitless opportunities to learn about science and aeronautics. The museum features rare aircraft, full-motion flight simulators, indoor rides, 4D theaters, and immersive exhibits.
This was a cute place my husband and I decided to stop by at. We were on our way home from visiting Binder Park Zoo and wanted to keep the day going exploring. It was really cool getting to see all of the different aircrafts. They also had a few rides for the kids as well as a space / future section that was pretty neat. We had fun and would say the $18 per ticket for adults was worth it. They also have a cool gift shop and free shuttle service as well as a cafe to get some food and free parking.
Briseida R — Google review
Amazing place to visit in Kalamazoo. Great for young ones and kids , they enjoy a lot. Big collection of warplanes, helicopters and lots of rides inside. You can ride on them as many times as you like. Ticket also includes the visit to air zoo flight discovery center, 2 mins drive or around 10 minutes walk. There are shuttles too. Ticket is for whole day, so you can go out and enter anytime.

Awesome place to visit!!! The tour guide was very knowledgeable. Lots of walking so wear good gym shoes. This place isn't just for little kids but everyone of all ages. I have to say that my favorite exhibit was The Nighthawk, truly amazing and you don't realize how big it actually is in person. The food was really good at the Cafe and they have a variety of things to eat. The gift shop had a lot of really neat stuff to buy and of course I bought a bumper sticker. I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely come back again.

Great experience. Clean, interesting, well organized… Very much worth doing the membership as well not only to use it here, but also because of partnership with many other science, museums in the country. They have a few rides for smaller kids to keep them entertained as well. And a flight simulator for older kids and adult adults.
Marcos F — Google review
Give yourself about 3-4 hours here. 2 wouldn’t have been enough, but after 3 we headed back through for a second round. Lots of airplanes to see but thats NOT all! They have several indoor amusement park rides and all rides are included in the ticket price. This was a hit with my kids! My baby could ride a few in seat beside me too. Several hands on stations to see and manipulate which was fun. Great time overall. They had plenty of air flight simulators which were very fun and made a small wait, sometimes no wait, ride. The murals were beautiful too!

I love taking the kiddo here. She’s two years old and loves the toddler tarmac! We always have such a great time when we come here, we play at the toddle tarmac, ride the Ferris wheel, and look at all of the planes. Sometimes they have fun events or activities here. They used to having a changing table in the toddler area but had the bright idea to remove it. You would think there would be a changing station in the closest bathroom, but for women it is not; you have to go to the front of the building. I am also unsure of if the toys get sanitized at all.

A museum for aviation enthusiasts & kids. This science center boasts lots of great aircraft, science & fun rides for families. There’s a “toddler hanger” an area for little ones to play with all sorts of aviation themed toys. It has a breastfeeding nook & a baby play area. My children ages 12, 9, 5 & 2 really enjoyed everything at this center. Highly recommend for the whole family.
Aishah E — Google review
If you’re a fan of aviation, plan(e) a trip here!!!! You WILL NOT be disappointed!! My kiddo was absolutely blown away. The very first thing we seen when we got into the main hanger was his favorite aircraft!!! (SR-71 Blackbird) So much history here and so many planes. I encourage you to make sure and read the stories for each plane as some of them will absolutely surprise you!! Planning our second trip back now 🙂 Update: We returned!!! Gonna need a third trip!!!! Side note: The 71 Blackbird they have (SR-71B #831) is the training model. I believe two were ever made and that they have the only one left in existence!!

The museum provides a chronological journey through the history and technological advancements of recreational vehicles and manufactured housing from pre-World War era to the present day.
Absolutely loved this place. It is well worth the stop and the admission price. I spent about two hours working my way through the exhibits in both museums and checking out the Hall of Fame and research library. As a FT vanlife gal, the RV side made me ridiculously happy - each rig was more fun than the previous all the way through. Great storytelling and history all the way around. This is clearly a labor of love. Those who like history and life on the road will be enchanted.

So I'm big on RVs so this was amazing. I went in a Wednesday and Thursday. The guy at the desk was amazing and made my visit even better. He took the time to talk about the list of restaurants in the are and things to do. This spot is also a host for Harvest Host, so get in your RV and take a ride. You can stay on site for at least 1 night and hookup for a fee. I recommend visiting the home of RVs and take a trip down memory lane at the RV museum.

WOW! What a great museum! If you have any interest in RVs and their history this is a must see! The 60's and 70's mobile homes were perfectly restored! Relived some very fond memories in this museum!

Had never been here and thought we'd check it out. Very interesting going through the theater history. How trailers are made section. Never thought of what all goes into building them. We then went through the vintage campers and trailers. Some were before our time but some we actually reminded us of our camping days. And then the modern tech area. The covered wagons to space age... "from wags to riches". Wow. Truly a house on wheels. Fun place and we will tell our friends.

Phenomenal job with the exhibits - we did a self guided tours and really enjoyed being able to enter old mobile homes in the museum. It felt like stepping back in time quite literally! Big parking lot, quiet vibes really cool place even if you don’t own an RV!

Dropped my son off for move-in day for his Freshman Year. The other young men in his form were waiting outside when we got there, they already knew our names, and proceeded to grab everything out of the car and get it up to his room. We didn't have to do anything. All the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Although I am nervous for my son, they definitely made me and his mother feel much better-knowing that he is in good hands. So far, 5 stars. Go Irish!

A very beautiful Campus. Well maintained as it is makes it easy to see why it's such a popular choice for a great education. I would give a full five just for the beauty but as I have never been a student I can't fairly say how I'd feel having never experienced attending. As a visitor I truly enjoyed the architectural beauty and the history of the famed campus. I recommended this as a great free must see in the area!

Absolutely beautiful campus. I didn't study there, so, cannot talk for the quality of education but the place is gorgeous. I love taking walks there, I love roaming around the campus. I love the lakes, swans, and ducks as well! The landscaping is amazing. I like coming here to light a candle for my grandma. 🕯 I think I'd be absolutely happy to go to this school as a college student!

This was a great park to come to visit. Parking was $15 for the day for a non-resident. Sand was cool, clean & soft! Wash stations available. Food/drinks shack. A small little "store" for towels, toys, t-shirts, sunscreen". Walking distance to the fountain & carousel 🎠!!

It's a great place to have w fun and enjoy the beach. I used to live in the area and moved in 1985 to Minnesota. This area was abandoned and in very sad shape. I came back for a 45 year reunion and was extremely impressed with the restoration of the area. There were a lot of people enjoying the beach and the the buildings were fully restored and improved! Really enjoyed walking around and at the top of the bluff on the St Joseph side they had vendors setup with antiques and yard sale items and food trucks! Very great experience. I really recommend going here. Lots to see and do.

Great place to visit for a short walk on a long pier. Beautiful views but the winds and high waters can be dangerous. Warning signs posted. Several lives lost over the years. Beach area has a nice view. Leaves were piling up likely from the river bringing it to the shoreline. Our autumn was relaxing and invigorating.

The perfect little escape from all the chaos! 🌊☀️ Silver Beach is that hidden gem where the world slows down soft sand, sparkling Lake Michigan waves, and the kind of breeze that instantly hits the reset button on your brain. It’s super clean, peaceful, and yet has just the right amount of fun and kids running through fountains. Whether you’re building sandcastles or just laying back watching the waves, this spot brings the good vibes. Bring a picnic, some sunscreen, and leave your stress behind this place is pure lakeside joy.

Excellent beach! Lots of great things this beach area has to offer: bath house, plenty of parking space, playground, splash pads, and the best views in the area. One thing people need to do is stop littering. There are trash cans everywhere. Makes no sense to leave your trash. But great views and great things to offer.

Beautiful as always! My first time watching the sunset and it did not disappoint! The beach is busy and full of visitors, lots of seagulls flying about. A nice park with play area for kids to enjoy. There's a concession area, kind of pricey but nothing too crazy. Bathrooms and changing area could use some attention but was still usable.

My first time getting to experience a Michigan beach! Safety first: study and ask questions of how a lake can be dangerous. I had family with me that was well versed in lake safety. ... It was such a a blast!! Make sure to have plenty of sunblock, water and snacks. There is a lovely playground, bathrooms, concessions in the summer and a cute village to shop in. If you can't get there early then prepare to walk pretty far. If early enough parking is near. You can walk out on the pier ( just be careful). NEVER TAKE YOUR EYES OFF YOUR KIDS, especially in the water. I can't wait to go back! Several good ice cream places in the downtown area. A couple pianos around town that you can just start playing for fun too.

Live DJ was entertaining! We will definitely be back, highly recommended!!!

Fun place and I’m not a gambler. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Even the linens were clean and soft. The setting is nice being set back in the woods. The gambling floor was loaded with innovative and graphically pleasing slot machines as well gaming tables. Since we were there on Monday, a couple of the restaurants, including the buffet, were closed. However the Timber Cafe was open and the food was very good. Especially the chicken noodle soup (I need the recipe) and the breakfast burrito. If you’re in SW Michigan this is a very pleasant stop.

The hotel itself was very nice and the extended staff was helpful. Booking is very sketchy. When you book a room you can request a room type, but they do not guarantee any of the rooms. So we booked our room but we're told they did not have any rooms with 2 queen beds. They offered a "cot." Which was not suitable for myself as I'm taller than the given "bed." Overall the experience was fine, but the ability to choose and actually get a room left me felt unappreciated as a customer.

Very nasty room do not go here. We asked housekeeping if we can get new sheets and they hesitated to help and give us new sheets after I told them what was on there. There was a young white kid who had an attitude and didn’t want to help us change the bed. We’ve had to call housekeeping again to get the manager to get us new sheets and change them because there was bodily fluid on the bed before we even got here and there was dirt on the bed it was so nasty. It did not feel very welcoming, especially for a getaway to come to this there was also an air freshener in the vent which housekeeping should have checked that.
Liliana M — Google review
UPDATE: Member customer Service called and stated that they have no control over the hotel and that all they could do was offer me a credit for 2 buffet meals on our next visit. I told her I wanted a portion of my hotel stay refunded bc we would not be back and was told they can't do anything about the hotel. Original: The hotel smelled like dirty nursing home mixed with smoke and body odor. There was a nasty stain (at least I HOPE to God it had actually BEEN washed) on our bedding so I asked housekeeping if they could please change out our bedding because it had stains and was dirty. They informed me that they don’t switch out bedding during the stay and that they could give us towels to cover the dirty spots…??! The temperature in our room was miserable. The thermostat read 72 the entire stay and yet it was either super super cold or to the point where we were literally sweating. We went to the buffet and the food was disgusting. Everything I got from pot roast to fried chicken to prime rib to turkey was cold. Room temperature or colder. It blew my mind since everything was in/on warmers so we requested a manager. The waitress had already gone back and asked them to cook me some new fried chicken which we agreed to wait 10 to 15 minutes for. But when the manager came over, all he said was “well we’re cooking you some new chicken“. That was it. He asked if I wanted anything else cooked fresh and I stated to him that I wasn’t gonna start my meal all over again since everyone else was already done and I still had to wait for a piece of chicken so he simply walked away. I always expect to lose money at casinos but the slots are very tight.

We ate at the buffet. Expensive! Worth it? Sadly, no. They only give military or senior citizen discounts to those who possess a membership card. The tip was automatically added even though we paid as separate couples, but sat at the same table. I paid almost $100. for me and my daughter. The prime rib was delicious, as were the desserts. The other food items were either okay or less than okay. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Ambiance was lacking. Very disappointing except the staff.

Indiana Dunes State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
Parks
Dune-lined park for hiking, swimming, fishing, cross-country skiing, birding & more, plus campsites.
If you’re planning a trip to Indiana Dunes, don’t skip the area around the Pavilion—it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the park. The Pavilion itself is this beautifully restored historic building that sits right on the beach. It kind of gives off a nostalgic, almost vintage boardwalk vibe, but with updated features that make it perfect for a beach day break. You’ve got options—grab a bite to eat downstairs, cool off with some ice cream, or head up to the rooftop bar (my favorite part) and take in the views of Lake Michigan. If you catch it near sunset, it’s chef’s kiss. We ordered food from the café downstairs—think burgers, salads, simple grill stuff. I had the Italian beef and it was great and had plenty of meat. It’s not five-star dining or anything, but it hits the spot after hiking dunes or laying in the sun all day. I will say it was a little pricey for what it was, and service was a bit slow, but to be fair it was a packed weekend afternoon. The staff was doing their best, and everyone was friendly. The rooftop though? Worth it. Great breeze, amazing views, and it just feels relaxing up there. It’s the kind of place where you can sip a drink and lose track of time watching the waves. One thing to note: it does cost $12 if from out of state and $7 if you're from Indiana per vehicle to enter the State Park, which gets you access to the beach, trails, and of course the Pavilion area. Totally worth it in my opinion, especially if you make a full day of it. The beach right outside the Pavilion is wide and beautiful, with plenty of space (though it can get crowded in peak summer). It’s perfect for families, couples, or even a solo recharge day. And if you're up for a little adventure, the dune trails nearby are gorgeous and offer some killer views of the lake. My tips: – Try to go on a weekday if you can, it’s less crowded. – Bring sunscreen and flip flops – Definitely plan to catch the sunset. – And if you’re into photography, this place is a dream around golden hour. The Indiana Dunes Pavilion is one of those spots that makes you want to slow down and just enjoy where you are. It’s not perfect but it doesn’t need to be. The views, the breeze, the beach, it all adds up to a really special experience. Would I go back? Absolutely. And next time, I’m saving room for that ice cream.

August 2025: Awesome place to spend a day. Weather made it impossible to get in the water when we were there but the beach was beautiful. Good hiking trails and the 3 Dune Challenge is really fun! (Although I definitely don't recommend forgetting your shoes/boots like I did. Started out in flip flops, did most of it barefoot). Nature Center had some interesting things to look at and clean restrooms. Plenty of picnic tables. Depending on the day of your visit, be prepared to wait in line to drive into the park.

A beautiful hidden gem in Indiana. This was our first time here, and I'm glad we made the trip. Who knew you could drive 4 hours, and be at a beach in Indiana! The trails, and campground were very nice. The trails were great, and peaceful. I wish they were marked a little better. BE WARNED the mosquitoes here are crazy on the trails so come extra prepared for that! I had many bites especially on my feet. I will definitely come better prepared for next time. The trails were beautiful, and well maintained. The beach was beautiful, and clean. The bathrooms at the beach were very dirty is my only complaint. Great for some nighttime photography as well! Overall we can't wait to come back and visit!

Gorgeous and clean state park! The entry is pretty cheap, and you can stay all day to do the trails, swim, bike, and enjoy being by Lake Michigan. I think it's particularly nice for families to spend time here. It's a short drive for Chicagoans. I recommend taking a day trip here!

I went there the first time in my life and I did the 3 dune challenge and it was good exercise to do that and see the scenery and the view and it was worth it. Then you have a exhibits in the visitor's center and that was good to see.

Great beach with amazing amenities- roof top restaurant right next to beach, clean bathrooms, showers, changing rooms, cafe with quick bites at reasonable prices and ice cream shop. Beautiful trails to hike. Only bummer is they get you out of water at 6 PM. That’s didn’t make sense. Probably you can go beyond the beach border and get into water at your own risk. Not sure!

Beautiful Places. Stayed at Dunwood Campground. Campground does not have electricity, but it has plenty of places to fill water tanks and restrooms and showers. There is plenty of distance between campsites which is better than most. Lots of wildlife. Had wild turkey coming up in the campsite. A real treat to get to see them upclose.

Discovered Trail 9 and now understand why it comes so highly rated! Despite the rain and the bugs, it was a challenging and wonderful trail. The sandy dunes never makes for a dull moment.

The Albanese Candy Factory Outlet is a paradise for candy lovers of all ages. Located just a short drive from Merrillville, this renowned factory produces some of the world's best gummies and chocolates. Visitors can take tours to witness the candy-making process and explore the on-site store, which offers a wide variety of delicious souvenirs to take home.
Clean, fun place! Every delicious candyr you can imagine. Staff were helpful, kind & generous with samples. No stinginess here!! Made us glad to purchase more than we’d planned! 😀🎉 Fun stop, worth the little detour. Our favorite: Albanese Dark chocolate gran marnier pecans!!

A huge candy factory. You get a few views of the factory floor but the plant itself is massive. The candy outlet store is very large. There are so many things on offer and the largest part of the place is set aside for bulk orders. They have chocolate, gummies, packages candy and other stuff. If you have a sweet tooth this place will fill that need with ease. I don't know what more to add to all of this, if you are driving by stop in and check it out. There aren't many stores like this around so just a neat place to check out if you are on a road trip and want a fun way to stretch your legs.

I have enjoyed their gummies for years, and finally had the opportunity to visit their store. Great prices and a wide variety of products including chocolates, nuts, and other candies. Their staff was very quick and friendly. Some gummy flavors I never seen before as well.

This is a heaven for kids and all adults who love candy. Plenty of variety for all taste in candy from chocolates to gummies. Although there is plenty of options, not all candy here is made by the company. Make sure to get the candies marked "Albanese" on them. Staff members here are very friendly. One of the staff members provided me a nice historical recap of the company. Free samples are provided upon request. Unfortunately no factory tours are provided here. Clean restrooms are available.

Albanese gummy bears are hands-down the best gummy bears you can buy, and once you try them, it’s hard to go back to anything else. The first thing you notice is the texture—they’re soft, chewy, and perfectly tender, without that tough, rubbery bite you get from other brands. Each piece feels fresh and practically melts in your mouth. The flavors are where Albanese truly shines. Instead of generic “fruit” tastes, you get bold, distinct flavors like mango, pineapple, and strawberry that are vibrant and instantly recognizable. Every bite bursts with sweetness balanced by just the right amount of tartness, making them incredibly addictive. It’s not just candy—it’s a little fruit-flavored celebration. Even visually, they’re a treat. The colors are bright and glossy, and each gummy bear looks like it belongs in a candy shop window. The variety in the mix means you’re never stuck with a bag full of your least favorite flavor—because let’s be honest, they’re all good. Albanese clearly puts care into their recipe, and it shows. Whether you’re snacking at home, sharing with friends, or looking for a sweet gift, these gummy bears deliver every single time. Simply put: once you’ve had Albanese, no other gummy compares.

Damien was AMAZZZZZZING! First time shopper here and he made my visit spectacular. Samples, smiles, personable and so kind without rushing me. He's a KEEPER! They are blessed to have him on their staff. Will be back!!!!!!

The candy is great and they now have these new versions with no artificial dies. The only negative is that you cannot take a pick into production like with some other manufacturers.

Sweet Perfection at Albanese! Who doesn’t love a trip to the candy store? After a fun day at the water park, my girlfriend and I stopped by Albanese in Indiana and it was the perfect sweet finale to our day! We loaded up on gummies and chocolates for the family (and, of course, a few treats for ourselves too). The real star? The Peanut Almond Butter Crunch squares—creamy, nutty, and super addicting. Every bite was pure bliss! If you’re near Indiana and craving top-tier candy, Albanese is a must. Their treats are next-level delicious, and the vibes are just as sweet. We’ll definitely be back!

Nice casino with a non smoking area, However they no longer have a buffet. They still offer a variety of restaurants. I went to the Venue to see Leela James. The venue is nice great seats. The concert was good.

Nice casino right on the water. Fairly modern and updated. Good variety of games, both tables and slots. Kept moderately clean. The complementary soda fountains were a little gross, I did not use them. Restrooms were kept okay. Not in the greatest part of town.

Navy Pier, a former Navy training center turned iconic Chicago landmark, is a beloved destination for families and tourists alike. This 3,000-foot pier offers a vibrant atmosphere with carnival rides, diverse dining options, bars, and free entertainment such as live music and street performers. Visitors can also enjoy the IMAX Theater, the enchanting indoor Crystal Gardens filled with soaring palm trees, the Children's Museum, and breathtaking views of Lake Michigan.
We had a fantastic time at Navy Pier with the kids! The highlights were definitely the thrilling SeaDog ride (with incredible views) and the fun rides at Pier park like the Wave Swinger. The Ferris wheel is a classic for a reason ..great for a relaxed view of everything. Food-wise, we were all happy with the burgers from Salt... the kids of course loved their Ben & Jerry's ice-cream after.. FlyOver Chicago was another fun indoor activity that the kids enjoyed. All in all, a perfect family day full of great sights and fun, a must go..if you're visiting Chicago.

Wonderful place to visit. We walked from downtown and explored the parks, monuments, and pier. We also rode the ferris wheel and shopped/ate. The day was lovely and the views of Lake Michigan, peaceful. It was not as crowded as the weekend, so it made for a nice end to our Chicago trip.

A Chicago Must-Do with Endless Energy Navy Pier is the vibrant, beating heart of Chicago's waterfront. From the moment you arrive, the welcoming and festive atmosphere is infectious. Its excellent location at the edge of Lake Michigan provides stunning, picture-perfect views of the city skyline. The pier truly has something for everyone. You can get out on the water with the many available boat trips, from serene architecture tours to thrilling speedboat rides. When hunger strikes, the excellent food options range from quick snacks to sit-down meals with a view. Beyond that, there are multiple activities to fill a whole day, from the iconic Ferris wheel and carousel to live entertainment and gardens. It's the perfect place for a fun-filled outing where you're guaranteed to feel the energetic pulse of the city.

Navy Pier is one of Chicago’s most iconic attractions and a must-visit for anyone exploring the city. It offers stunning views of Lake Michigan and the city skyline, along with plenty of restaurants, shops, and entertainment options. Whether you’re taking a ride on the Centennial Wheel, enjoying a boat tour, or just walking along the pier, the atmosphere is vibrant and full of energy. A perfect place to relax, take beautiful photos, and experience the true spirit of Chicago!

Navy Pier truly captures the spirit of Chicago! Gorgeous lakefront views, great food options, and a lively atmosphere all day long. Perfect for a relaxing walk, photos, or just soaking in the city’s vibe. They also have music festivals every other weekend, mainly on Saturdays. There are river front cruises that board people from navy pier and take you through the city and show you the historical buildings of Chicago. There are well maintained restrooms. There are a couple of places to eat but you may find them a little pricy. Note: Saturdays are packed with people. Sundays are a bit quieter Weekdays are way more quieter unless it's a long holiday. No tickets required to enter the pier but for cruises and Yatchs you do need to buy tickets, which you can get online or in premises. In case you are taking the boat rides, plan ahead.

I recently had the pleasure of being flown out to visit Chicago for the first time and was blown away by its AH-someness 🥰 I mean, who knew it was so pretty? It's an ideal spot to kill several hours, and boy, did we ever. They've got a crazy range of attractions, including a butterfly house, grub so good you'll want to roll around in it, tours, and boat rides. We took a sweet stroll and dug the views. I highly recommend moseying on down to Navy Pier, which offers a totally stunning view of the Chicago skyline and a party atmosphere. I'm totally recommending it and I'm already planning my next trip 🛩

I wanted a place to go in Chicago without fighting all the traffic but still getting to see Lake Michigan and the downtown buildings. This was perfect! Beautiful views of the city, and if you take the Centennial wheel, you get to see incredible views 360 degrees around! There was food, music, drinks and more available depending upon time of the year, week, day, etc. I went in February once and still had a wonderful time! Parking on the pier was easy and accessible, but expensive.
Kristina S — Google review
Navy Pier is an excellent destination for a family outing, offering plenty of fun for kids and adults alike. A long building extends down the length of the pier, housing a wide array of shops and restaurants where you can explore local food and browse for souvenirs. You'll find everything from casual bites to more upscale dining options. For a fun time, head to the second floor near the entrance to find a small playground and a carousel, perfect for keeping young children entertained. Outside the building, you can board one of several boats for a scenic cruise. You won't have to worry about finding food, drinks, or gifts, as there are many options to choose from inside the building. The pier also has some great beer stands where you can grab a local brew to enjoy while you walk. It's a nice perk that you're allowed to drink on the pier itself, as long as you finish your beverage before you leave.

Art museum
The Art Institute of Chicago is a renowned art museum that boasts an extensive collection of nearly 300,000 works from various cultures and time periods. Since its establishment in the late 1800s, the institute has grown to become one of America's largest art museums. Visitors can explore ancient Egyptian and Greek artifacts, iconic impressionist pieces by Monet and Van Gogh, as well as contemporary works by artists like Picasso, Warhol, and Pollock.
The Art Institute of Chicago is an absolute must-visit and one of the best museums in the U.S. We used the CityPASS, which gave us express entry — no long lines, a big plus! The museum is huge and beautifully curated, featuring world-famous masterpieces by Monet, Van Gogh, and many other renowned artists. The layout makes it easy to navigate, and there are plenty of clean restrooms throughout. I appreciated the bag check area where you can safely leave larger items, though small bags and water bottles are allowed inside. The souvenir shop is also impressive — large and filled with unique art-inspired items. Whether you’re an art lover or a casual visitor, this museum is a Chicago highlight and a must-see attraction downtown. Spent around three hours there but could spend the whole day if we don't have other plans.

One of the best art museums I’ve ever been to. The building and location was great, how the galleries were entering through each other was really interesting. Pro-tip: use their guide! It felt more than amazing to see a lot of Monet’s painting of one collection next to each other. And seeing Van Gogh’s brush stroke felt really special. My favorite artists that had their famous artworks in this museum were: Edward Hopper - Van Gogh - Monet - George Surat- Paul Cézanne - Whistler - Hammershoi Also, their lighting was really good. Their art shop was amazing! I bought beautiful postcards for 1.5 $ and a lot of fun items from different artists. I highly recommend visiting this museum if you’re in Chicago, and setting at least 3 hours of free time to enjoy with no stress and rush.

My Visit to the Art Institute of Chicago My visit to the Art Institute of Chicago was one of the highlights of my trip. It’s not just a museum — it’s a journey through centuries of global art and culture. The building itself is grand and beautifully designed, right next to Millennium Park, making it easy to find and explore. Inside, the collection is breathtaking — from American classics like Grant Wood’s “American Gothic” and Nighthawks by Edward Hopper, to masterpieces by Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir, Picasso, and Rembrandt. Each gallery felt like stepping into a different era and part of the world. The Modern Wing was a personal favorite, showcasing stunning contemporary works in a bright, open space. The Impressionist collection is one of the best I’ve ever seen, with vivid colors and incredible detail that make you feel part of the painting. The museum staff were friendly and helpful, and the layout was easy to navigate even though the collection is vast. I also enjoyed a relaxing break at the Museum Café, overlooking the park. 📍 Tips for Visitors: • Book tickets online to save time. • Plan at least 2–3 hours (or more!) — there’s so much to see. • Audio guides and maps are very helpful for first-time visitors. • Don’t miss the gift shop for unique art-themed souvenirs. Overall, the Art Institute of Chicago is a world-class museum that beautifully captures the power of creativity and history. A must-visit for anyone coming to Chicago! 🖼️✨

We came here on a Bank of America sponsored day and luckily we have BOA accounts and we're let in for free! There's so much iconic art here. And it truly is a massive space - I tried to speed run the whole museum in 2 hours and only got through ~85% of it. Really appreciated all the curated works and how they organized each room/section, and their exhibits were also very special.
Becky T — Google review
During my last trip to Chicago I got the CityPass and visited this enormous museum on a Monday during summer. If you like to appreciate art this is your museum, it has lots of sculptures, paintings, photography, textiles, weapons armor, among others... from different cultures during impressionism and post-impressionism. If you have a tight schedule I recommend you to plan which pieces of art you want to see before visiting the museum, check the map, use the app. If you intend to cover all the museum in detail it would be almost impossible to do it in one day.
MaJo — Google review
A Must-Visit for History & Art Lovers! This art museum beautifully showcases the history and cultures of various countries and ancient civilizations. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged, and the ambience truly immerses you in the past. Each section is rich with historical references, making it a great place for anyone interested in literature, heritage, and art. The museum is well-maintained and organized, which enhances the overall experience. One of the most inspiring highlights here is the section dedicated to Swami Vivekananda’s historic speech, which adds a spiritual and motivational touch to the experience. It’s truly moving to stand in a place that reflects his message of unity, peace, and cultural pride. Do note that weekends can get a bit crowded, so visiting on a weekday is ideal if you prefer a quieter atmosphere. Overall, a wonderful place to learn, explore, and appreciate world cultures.

Iconic art! Definitely worth seeing! Fairly easy to navigate on your own. $38 adult entrance fee. They have a QR code on a sign at the entrance, super easy to buy your ticket as you walk in - even took Apple Pay. I did a thoughtful self tour in a couple hours. Staff and security are helpful if you get turned around. Seriously, security are not experts in the art though. I saw a couple people try to ask them art questions… lol!

I visited here at 10 AM with a member who is a resident of Chicago. Members can visit early from 10 AM to 11 AM. If you have a friend or a family member who lives in Chicago and is a member, that is a great experience to learn what they like at the museum! There was a temporary exhibit at the museum for the drawing and prints room. I saw an Edward Munch lithograph of The Scream painting. I would recommend buying a ticket in advance and keeping the printout of your ticket or if you have it on your phone. They do require to see your ticket again to re-enter the museum if you go to the gift shop. I bought postcards to send to my family and will be writing out the postcards this afternoon. They also have nice insulated bags at the museum shop that you can use on your trip. There is an abundance of natural light in the lobby and many of the galleries. The only thing I have against this museum is that they charge for admission. I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and our Minneapolis Institute of Art does not charge for admission for any patrons.

🌳 My Visit to Millennium Park, Chicago My visit to Millennium Park was an unforgettable experience and one of the best highlights of Chicago. Located right in the heart of downtown, this beautiful urban park perfectly blends art, architecture, and nature — making it a must-visit spot for both tourists and locals. The first thing that caught my eye was the iconic Cloud Gate sculpture, famously known as “The Bean.” Its mirrored surface beautifully reflects the Chicago skyline and is a fantastic place for photos — especially in the morning or around sunset. I also loved walking through the Crown Fountain, with its interactive digital faces and shallow water area — a fun place to relax, especially for families and children. The park’s landscaping is stunning, especially at the Lurie Garden, which offers peaceful walking paths and colorful flowers amidst the city’s tall buildings. 📍 Tips for Visitors: • Best visited during the morning or evening for great lighting and fewer crowds. • Free entry, and most attractions are within walking distance. • Combine your visit with the nearby Art Institute of Chicago and Maggie Daley Park. Millennium Park is one of the most beautiful and well-maintained parks I’ve ever visited. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxing, with people of all ages enjoying the open spaces. The Cloud Gate sculpture—often called “The Bean”—is even more impressive in person, especially when it reflects the city skyline and the clouds above. The park is always clean, and there are plenty of benches and shaded areas for resting. During the summer, the fountain area becomes a favorite spot for families and kids to cool off, while in winter, the ice-skating rink brings a completely different charm. It’s also conveniently connected to other attractions like the Art Institute and Michigan Avenue, making it easy to spend an entire afternoon here. Whether you’re taking photos, jogging, or just sitting with a coffee watching the city move, Millennium Park offers a perfect balance of art, nature, and architecture. Definitely a must-visit spot in Chicago!

🌳 Review: Millennium Park, Chicago The Millennium Park in Chicago is an artistic and refreshing public space that perfectly combines modern architecture, creativity, and relaxation. It is one of the city’s must-visit attractions and a place where people can truly enjoy both nature and art together. The highlight for me was the digital fountain (Crown Fountain) — a tall glass structure displaying the image of a person whose face moves naturally, and water flows gently from the mouth as if it were alive. The movement of the images and the reflection of light and water create a mesmerizing and peaceful scene, especially when viewed up close. Equally impressive is the Cloud Gate, popularly known as “The Bean.” When you walk inside the sculpture and look upward, it gives a feeling of infinite reflections and depth, showing the sky, people, and surroundings in a spectacular, mirrored view. It’s both playful and thought-provoking — a wonderful example of modern art blending with science and design. Overall, Millennium Park is a fantastic place to spend time with friends or family, take photographs, or simply sit and enjoy the artistic energy of Chicago. The reflections, lights, and lively atmosphere make it one of the city’s most memorable experiences.

Cloud Gate, also known as "The Bean," is a renowned outdoor sculpture in Chicago that attracts both locals and tourists. Created by Anish Kapoor, this metallic structure is made of 168 welded stainless steel plates and stands at 33 feet tall. Its reflective surface offers unique views of the surrounding cityscape, making it a hotspot for photography enthusiasts. The sculpture's warped reflections create an illusion akin to a fun house mirror, providing an excellent backdrop for artistic photoshoots.
I truly loved it the walk it was just minutes from the Pendry Hotel where I was staying. The entrance was simple no hassle and no lines whatsoever. Even with the crowd getting close the Bean was simple smooth and had a chill experience. Not for nothing though it was HOTT in the area I blame the bean lol. Visiting Cloud Gate at night is an unforgettable experience. The polished stainless steel surface mirrors the Chicago skyline and city lights in a way that feels almost magical. Standing beneath “The Bean,” you can see the reflections curve and blend, creating a surreal version of the city around you. Located in Millennium Park, it’s one of Chicago’s most iconic landmarks and a must-see for any visitor. The area is beautifully lit at night and far less crowded than during the day, which makes it perfect for quiet photos or just taking in the view. The reflections of the skyline, the park lights, and even the stars above make Cloud Gate a stunning piece of art that connects you to the city’s energy and beauty in a truly unique way.

I mean. You have to go see it. The “Bean” or Cloud Gate at Millennium Park is absolutely worth a visit during your trip to Chicago. It’s great for photos and honestly just a remarkable spectacle of design. Both times I’ve visited it’s been populated but there hasn’t been any difficulty getting right up close to the structure to take photos. It doesn’t require tickets and there are no lines. Check it out!

The Bean (Cloud Gate) is a Chicago must-see! I love its sleek, mirror-like surface that perfectly reflects the skyline and city buzz, making it the perfect spot for photos. It was a quick visit, but such an iconic and fun experience in Millennium Park. Plan your visit wisely to avoid the crowds — sunrise or sunset photos would be amazing!

The BEAN is a must-go place in chicago. The mellenium park is also a beautiful with fountains, gardens . Its suprisingly nice to visit the bean at night. Also i want to add, i expected the bean to be bigger (not a bad thing nor a good thing). Not really crowded even during weekends

Located on the 103rd floor of the former Sears Tower, Skydeck Chicago provides visitors with breathtaking views of four states. The unique viewing platform The Ledge lies 4ft outside the building dimensions and offers brave visitors unrivaled views over the city. With museum-quality exhibits and a 60-second ride up to the 103rd floor, Skydeck Chicago is a must-see attraction in Chicago.
Absolutely amazing experience! The little museum section before going up was a great surprise — very well done and full of interesting facts. The elevator ride up was fast and smooth, and then… the grand finale! Standing on the glass ledge and taking a photo “in the air” was just incredible. WoW! A must-do experience if you’re visiting the city.

From the moment we stepped into the Willis Tower, the excitement was real. The elevator ride up to the 103rd floor was fast and smooth, and the views? Absolutely breathtaking. You get a full panoramic look at Chicago’s skyline, Lake Michigan, and on a clear day, even parts of neighboring states! But the real highlight? The Ledge. 😱 These glass boxes extend out from the building, letting you stand 1,353 feet above the ground with nothing but glass beneath your feet. It was thrilling, surreal, and surprisingly not as scary as it looks! 🎉 The kids had an absolute blast! They were jumping, posing, and laughing the whole time. It was so heartwarming to see them enjoy something so unique and adventurous. The staff were super friendly and helped us get some great photos too.
Harish ( — Google review
We visited the Skydeck totally spontaneously on a Saturday night and had such a great experience! We were originally going to buy tickets at the self-checkout kiosk, but the prices were pretty high, so I checked online and found a much better deal through Tripster. The tickets were emailed instantly and we walked right in with the barcodes. Before reaching the ledge, you go through a really well-done museum with interactive displays about Chicago’s history, architecture, and the Willis Tower. It definitely adds to the whole experience. Once you get to the Skydeck, the line looks long but moves quickly and efficiently. We actually got to go out on the ledge multiple times and take plenty of photos. They take one professional photo from above, then you get 90 seconds to take your own. At the end, all the photos taken of you get uploaded to a card they give you, and you can download a few digital postcards for free. Even though it was raining the night we went, the views were still breathtaking. It’s a little pricey, but honestly worth it — it’s not something you do every day, and the views alone make it memorable. We’d love to come back on a clear day to get more pictures together. Highly recommend for both locals and visitors!

🌇 Review: Skydeck Chicago – Willis Tower The Skydeck at Willis Tower in Chicago is truly one of the most thrilling and memorable experiences the city has to offer. Located on the 102nd floor of this iconic skyscraper (formerly known as Sears Tower), it offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the entire city and Lake Michigan. The building itself is a marvel of engineering — constructed decades ago yet still standing as one of the tallest and most resilient structures in the world. You can actually feel and hear the gentle response of the building to strong winds, a reminder of its flexible yet sturdy design. Every year, the tower is struck by 50 to 60 lightning bolts, and its lightning protection system effectively neutralizes the charges — a fascinating aspect of its engineering brilliance. The highlight of the visit is definitely The Ledge — a glass balcony extending about 1.5 meters (4.3 feet) out from the main structure, allowing you to literally stand above the city and look straight down through the transparent glass floor. It’s a thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime experience that blends excitement with awe. The lift ride to the 102nd floor is smooth and fast, with an engaging video presentation about the building’s history during the ascent. The visitor area is well-organized, and staff are courteous and helpful. The surrounding shopping area and exhibits about Chicago’s history make the visit even more worthwhile. Overall, Skydeck Chicago is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the Windy City — whether you’re a traveler, engineer, photographer, or just someone who wants to see the world from above. The experience perfectly captures the spirit of Chicago: innovation, strength, and beauty.

The view was beautiful! And it’s great that they allow you to take your own pictures. They do take some, but you have to pay extra for them in the end. We went at night so we could see the lights which was perfect for me. There was also a cute little attraction on the history of Chicago before you go up.

Skydeck Chicago is one of the most unforgettable attractions in the city and absolutely worth a visit. Located on the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower, it offers a stunning panoramic view of Chicago that stretches for miles — you can even see parts of four states on a clear day! The elevator ride is super fast and smooth, and once you reach the top, the view will take your breath away. The highlight, of course, is The Ledge — the glass boxes that extend out from the building. Standing on it feels both exciting and terrifying at the same time, but it’s a must for anyone visiting. The staff are friendly and patient, helping everyone get great photos safely. The exhibits before the elevator ride are also very well done, giving you insight into Chicago’s history and architecture. It can get busy, especially around sunset, so booking tickets online ahead of time is highly recommended. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a local seeing the city from a new angle, Skydeck Chicago offers an experience that’s thrilling, beautiful, and uniquely Chicago.

The Willis Tower Skydeck is a must visit when in Chicago. It gives you a unique birds eye prospective of the amazing architecture this city encompasses! During your visit, have your phone cameras out and ready to deploy as you will want to take as many breathtaking photos of the skyline and building tops. Best time to visit is around dusk, right when the sun's about to set and the city lights turn on... Be sure to pop your ears up on your way up and down and have a great time!

Wow! Great experience — we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We especially loved exploring the museum before heading up to the top deck. The exhibits included popular historic landmarks and famous figures from Chicago, which really added to the experience. The top deck offered stunning views of the skyline, and it was a highlight of our visit. Access to The Ledge required an additional wait, but it was well organized — each group was allowed 90 seconds to enjoy and take photos once it was their turn. Definitely worth the wait!

Chicago Botanic Garden

Botanical garden
Sights & Landmarks
The Chicago Botanic Garden spans over 385 acres and showcases millions of plants and flowers in various settings across 26 different gardens. Among these gardens are the Malott Japanese Garden, Evening Island, and Grunsfeld Children's garden. Visitors can explore the beautiful orchid exhibit called The Orchid Show Untamed that features different orchids and plants arranged thoughtfully in several rooms with varying temperatures and designs. Guides are available to answer questions while visitors can take advantage of many photo opportunities.
Don’t hesitate: We visited the park on one of its busiest days of the year, and the crowds definitely made their presence known—especially in the parking line/lot. If you haven’t prepaid for parking, expect a long wait. Pro tip: purchase your tickets and parking online ahead of time and have them ready on your phone—it’ll save you a ton of time and hassle. For frequent visitors, a membership is well worth it. The member lines were noticeably shorter, and the family membership option is a great perk—you can share it with friends and relatives, making group visits smoother and more affordable. If you have a membership card each person that comes in, you can bring one person with them for free. Once inside, the park is a breath of fresh air. It’s beautifully designed, easy to navigate, and offers a serene escape into nature. Every corner feels thoughtfully maintained and visually stunning. If you’re craving a peaceful outdoor experience, this park is a must-visit.
KEN — Google review
The Chicago Botanic Garden is truly one of the best spots in the area if you love nature, beauty, and a peaceful escape from the city. Every corner of the garden feels carefully designed and well taken care of. The bonsai collection is absolutely fascinating—I could have spent an hour there just admiring the incredible detail and variety. The Japanese Garden is another highlight; it’s so calm and thoughtfully laid out, with winding paths, bridges, and views that make you want to slow down and take everything in. There’s a lot more beyond those highlights too. Each section feels like its own little world, from wide open flower beds to quiet wooded trails. You can easily spend half a day here and still feel like you haven’t seen it all. It’s also a wonderful place for photography or just sitting on a bench and enjoying the view. The only downside is the logistics if you don’t have a membership. Parking can back up with long lines to get in, and the ticket line can move slowly on busy days. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re planning your visit—arriving early definitely helps. Once you’re inside, though, the wait feels completely worth it. Overall, the gardens are a gem in the Chicago area, perfect whether you’re going alone, with family, or bringing out-of-town visitors. It’s one of those places that changes beautifully with the seasons, so every visit feels different. I’d highly recommend getting a membership if you plan to go more than once—it makes entry much smoother and is absolutely worth it.

What a beautiful place! I was visiting Chicago to spend some time with a very dear friend and I wanted to take her somewhere to enjoy the summer before it was over, this garden was thirty minutes away from her apartment and wow! What a dream! We spent at least two hours walking around the gardens and seeing all the beauty and trying to take everything in. There were so many sections with different plants and they were all arranged so beautifully! I could spend days walking around and enjoying the natural beauty and all the hard work that the employees put in! I cannot wait to come back again!

Went here with a girl friend of mine for the lightscape show. Parking was prepaid. The parking was not far away from the gate. the 1.3 mile trail route was well planned. The lights were a bit underwhelming. The background music beat the lights for sure. Very festive. Not very packed. Not so much interactions for the kids though. Shout out to their gift shop. Many delicately designed artworks, sovorneirs, and toys. Loved the magnet I got. Really cute and delicate. Overall I enjoyed it with my friend.

This is the most beautiful Botanic Garden I have ever been to! When in town I love to come here with friends or by myself for a scenic walk and smell fresh flowers. At night you can see the most beautiful sunsets ever! The gate entrance closes usually at 6pm but you can come in 5 minutes before and stay until the dark. Lovely place !

Loved our visit to the Chicago Botanic Garden! Such a beautiful, peaceful place — it really feels like an escape into nature. Everything is so well-maintained and calming to walk through. The train garden was the absolute highlight for us! Our toddler was obsessed — we ended up sitting there for almost an hour just watching the trains go by. It’s so cute and detailed, definitely a must-see if you’re visiting with kids. Overall, a wonderful experience for both adults and kids. Perfect place to spend a relaxing day surrounded by nature.

Great place to decompress. I’d get the membership if I lived near here! It was chilly and we wanted to see the bonsai collection but they they remove it from Nov - Apr We missed it by a day! It’s quite large so I’d go at least twice to cover everything

What is not to love about the Chicago botanical gardens?? (Except maybe the staff at the membership desk—why are they always so condescending and rude?) This is one of the best spots around—worth the trek in from wherever you are. It’s conveniently located right off the highway (41 I believe), and many people will meet at a nearby Trader Joe’s to head in together. The events are fabulous The gardens are impeccably well kept Always seasonal fun things, like plant giveaways in the summertime Great for people of all ages

Six Flags Great America

Theme park
Water & Amusement Parks
Six Flags Great America is a vast amusement park offering over 100 rides and attractions, including numerous roller coasters. The park caters to visitors of all ages and preferences, featuring thrill rides like heart-pounding roller coasters, free fall experiences, and spinning attractions. Families can enjoy gentler options such as tea cup rides and water log adventures.
This was my first time visiting the park in at least 20 years but as soon as I walked in I felt the nostalgia and all of the memories of those prior visits when my mom would take my brothers and I. This was my first time taking my own kids so I was super excited to create some new memories. The park was smaller than I remembered, but that turned out to be a good thing. Our hotel was directly across the street so we were able to get there almost right at opening time. We were able to ride all of the coasters that we wanted to, aside from the 2 that were closed. I mentioned the size of the park because we're used to going to Cedar Point, which is larger than Great America, which means more area to cover, which means faster fatigue. At Great America, I felt comfortable walking around the park all day and the rides were placed in a manner that seemed like you can get to the other side of the park in a few minutes. We went on a Saturday in July and the wait times were reasonable. The longest wait time for the most popular rides were listed as 60 minutes on the app, but it wasn't always accurate. We ordered all of our tickets, extras, and parking ahead of time through the website and the app. If you can, spring for the unlimited dining pass. Generally, two people can split a meal or snack every 90 minutes with drink refills every 15 minutes. We ate good and stayed hydrated. I definitely recommend that option. I had a wonderful time and if you plan it out properly, you will too. I look forward to my next visit.

First time at Fright Fest and Definitely worth it and I will be coming back. I just wish there were more actors running around, like all over the park. Besides that, staff are always friendly and helpful, and never have any issues when I do come here. And was really happy to see that American Eagle have both sides going! Just a little disappointed that Raging Bull is still closed, that’s my favorite ride. Other than that, Amazing and well maintained park.

Great time with family and new friends! I didn't stay all day or go on all the rides, but I enjoyed my time walking around, spending time with family and was pretty surprised that there weren't more people when I was there... 😁👍 It was pretty clean and brought back some good memories from when I was younger and enjoying the park that's in California. Might have to take my son to the Florida location in the near future.
Benjamin M — Google review
I’ve been to a lot of fall and Halloween events, but this place really knows how to put on a show. From the second you walk through the gates, the atmosphere grabs you — fog rolling across the walkways, creepy music echoing through the park, and costumed scare actors lurking in just the right spots to make you jump when you least expect it. The haunted houses were well-designed and full of great special effects. Each one had its own personality — from eerie asylum vibes to full-blown zombie chaos. The makeup and costumes on the actors were impressive; you can tell the staff puts serious effort into making each scene believable and spine-tingling. Even walking around between rides, the themed zones kept the energy high. There’s something thrilling about riding a roller coaster at night with flashing lights and the sound of screams in the background! I also appreciated that the event felt organized despite the huge crowds. The park staff kept things moving, and most of the lines moved faster than expected for a big Halloween weekend. Security was visible but friendly, and I noticed plenty of sanitation and rest areas, which made a long night more enjoyable. That said, the food and drink prices were outrageous .We’re talking $15+ for a burger and fries, $6-$8 for bottled water or soda, and desserts that cost almost as much as a meal. I completely understand that theme parks mark up their food, but this felt excessive even by those standards. My advice: grab a meal before you go or plan for a splurge if you want to snack inside. Still, overall, Fright Fest is a must-see if you love Halloween thrills. The park goes all-in with its decorations, live shows, and creepy characters. Between the haunted mazes, the night rides, and the electric atmosphere, it’s worth the trip — just pack your own food and water. 🎃 9/10 for scares

Great park with GREAT coasters. All employees were super nice and friendly! Ticket prices are not bad, but food & drinks are a bit stiff on cost. Worth it. Some of the best coasters I've rode! My family had a blast!!!
Amy B — Google review
We had a great time at Six Flags Great America! There are so many fun rides and the park has a lot to offer for all ages. It was an exciting day and we really enjoyed the energy and atmosphere. But there were a few downsides. The wait times for rides were really long, which made it hard to enjoy more of the park. Also, some rides require extra payment inside, which we didn’t expect after buying tickets. It would be even better if they had street shows or entertainment for people who aren’t into rides—it would help pass the time and keep the fun going for everyone. Still, it’s a fun place for families and thrill-seekers. Just go early and be ready to wait a bit!
MARYAM — Google review
We bought the season pass as we live an hour away from this place. Buying seasonal pass was the best decision because we could go all weekends and special days. Absolutely love their Halloween decorations and fright fest events. However, the fright fest rides/haunted house experience are an additional cost. You need to get a separate ticket even though you have seasonal pass or park fee. Worth visiting.

Great mall, huge variety of stores. Something for everyone. Food court has a good selection of food options. There is also a lounge area near the restrooms. The restrooms were very clean and well stocked with soap and paper towels. Parking is definitely challenging but if you don't mind walking a bit you should be fine. Happy shopping!!

My 1st time visiting the Woodfield Mall was when I was around 3 so I was quite interested in coming back here when visiting Chicago. Overall, a nice mall for me in which I could eat and shop with a moderate amount of people around. On the 1st floor basically in the center of the mall is a kid playground area as well (which I did go to when I was 3). They’ve got a small food court on the 2nd floor all the way to the right kind of tucked in near other restaurants/small shops. Whole mall is mixed with beauty stores, clothing stores, food stores, gift stores, makeup stores, and more. It isn’t the greatest mall I’ve ever been to but I will say you sure can spend/waste a good chunk of hours exploring new things or just things of interest.

The Morton Arboretum, established in 1922 by Joy Morton, is a sprawling 1,700-acre nature preserve in Lisle. It boasts an impressive collection of over 4,100 tree species and 222,000 plants. Visitors can explore the diverse landscape through 16 miles of trails or hop on the Acorn Express tram for a guided tour. The arboretum also features outdoor art exhibitions and larger-than-life garden sculptures that add to its serene and meditative atmosphere.
I've been a member AMD have going here for yrs. I love all the events that they provide throughout the yr. I enjoy walking though the Arboretum it's so peaceful and enjoy finding the Artwork from different artists through out the years. Everyone who works there are so friendly and helpful. I recommend going if you enjoy nature. They have a cute area for kids and a hedge maze. I enjoy bringing family and friends from it of town here when they come to visit.

This a gorgeous place to visit! So much land to cover. Lots of beautiful flowers and trees. Path ways are clear. Lots of places for picnics. It's fun to search for the structures throughout your journey! My cons about this place are the reason why I gave 3 stars. The tram train was not running...I feel a discount should have been given because that was the 1 thing I was looking forward to doing there. Secondly, we met friends there and our friends didn't enter the park until after 5pm...the park closes at sunset which was 7:10pm the day we went. So they paid 25.00 each person for about an hour and a half of being able to visit. Just thinking it would be ideal to offer a half price rate on entry for the last 2 hours they are open. You can barely drive through the property in an hour and a half. The east side has the beautiful sunset by the water and that is really pretty. I'd go back only if I had the whole day to spend there because 25.00 a person for a couple hours is a bit steep.
Jen M — Google review
This was our first experience with the park. The wait time to enter the park on a really nice weather was around 20 minutes. Then it took another 10 minutes to find a parking space. The park is huge and offers a lot of attractions for kids. Tens of miles of trails for walkers or bike riders. A huge pavillion with a place to sit down and get a refreshement. A nice kids garden and a large maze for everyone. I liked everything about it. The price of admission for non-members is significant. It is better to become an annual member.

The Arboretum was just what I needed—time in God’s presence surrounded by His creation. The trees are so tall and majestic, it felt like walking through a living cathedral of nature. It’s a very large park with so much to explore—you can drive through, walk, or bike ride on the many trails. They even have a bike rental area, beautiful gardens, and peaceful lakes. Truly a place to rest, reflect, and reconnect with God through the beauty of His handiwork.

The rooms have deep tubs suitable for soaking and provide guests with a comfortable night's rest. However, additional fees of around $20+ are added to the room rates, which may not be favorable to some.

There's free garage parking. Maybe 5 floors. Easy out and in. There's an elevator on each floor of the parking garage that will take you to the casino. It's a bit of a walk from the entrance doors to the casino entrance. There's a restaurant that has somewhat Mexican food, but it does not have authentic Mexican food. Another restaurant has stuff like hamburgers and fries. And another restaurant is more of like a steak house. The place was clean.

So I came here with my sister, and this guy put us in a very strange situation. Super aggressive, would not leave us alone, and intoxicated beyond his means ( He snuck into the casino with it), and he basically would not leave us alone. We finally told staff it took them 20 seconds to safely remove him from the casino. Staff constantly reassured us they are ON THE CASE. They wouldn't let this person who scared us back in, and we could be escorted safely to our cars. They were fantastic. Karen, the 2 bartenders on staff, the 2 security gaurds, and the waitress we told. You were ALL amazing. Astonishing. Worked together with such pep in your step. I know this is a rare occurrence, like extremely rare where someone just sneaks in with alcohol and such, but it was handled so BEAUTIFULLY. Felt great after being reassured by staff he would not be returning. You all did an amazing job, thats why I love your casino the most. You guys GET TO WORK when things get weird.

Nice place. I came on my Seven Stars retreat because I was looking to be close enough to visit Chicago, which I did. Stayed 4 nights in the hotel. Unlike my hometown Caesar's casino, this place actually has room service, wow! Was ordering it constantly. But, one time, an order came delivered to my door I didn't order. There was some kind of problem with the online ordering. A day later, I got a confirmation text for an order I also didn't order. So, something is off with the system. The TV in the room was also not right, the remote didn't work right and was annoying. And the hot water was just barely hot enough / not quite hot enough in the washroom. So, a few little details seem to be falling by the waste side. But this was a cool property to hang out at. It was bigger than I thought it would be. And the restaurants were pretty dam good. The fact they have three different kinds of restaurants means I never once had to go anywhere else for food. I won't be back because I won't be doing this again, but I would certainly recommend Harrah's Joliet! Thanks for the stay.

What a horrible experience Front office gave the room with people inside. My 2nd experience with this hotel. Restaurant choices are very limited and the worst part is a power outage in the hotel. Are you kidding me? As a diamond elite member, shame of this place. I have been in several caesars properties, this is the worst ever that i ever been in

The customer service for this hotel is absolutely horrible! I was given same number by two different people to call and I called to check and see if I could get early in because I’m in a wedding party and literally will have no time to get in my room and shower if they don’t try to at least give early check in. I was then hung up on by the first person I talked to. They also messed up the bridal suite for my friends getting married. These people are incompetent

Been coming here for a while now. Harrah's really went downhill after they got bought out by Caesars. Prior to, they used to have these big giveaways/raffles/prizes (cars, appliances, big jackpots, etc). They even restructured how you can earn points now so it's more difficult to reach 7 diamonds. They tightened up the machines so they don't pay out as much. You barely win anything on the machines now. It's fairly clean, but it could stand an update now after being there for 30+ years. STAFF IS STILL AMAZING, although they fired one of THE best casino hosts bc of some rude customer. I'm probably going to start going to Rivers Casino (if I'm going to lose my money, I might as well go somewhere nicer and closer to dining/ shopping areas).

Specialty Museums
Located eleven miles west of Gurnee, the Volo Auto Museum is a haven for car enthusiasts and families alike. The museum boasts an extensive collection of classic, antique, muscle, and Hollywood cars, including iconic vehicles like the Batmobile. In addition to cars, visitors can explore historic pedal cars, music machines, coin-operated kiddie rides, and vignette theaters. The complex also features an antique mall and a burger bar with a beer garden.
This place is so unique! Definitely worth a visit if you like vintage & classic cars, quirky & peculiar collections, and/or have children that like dinosaurs. It’s also worth noting that the central building is free to enter and has a BBQ spot with quirky decor and fun (& creepy animatronics) and ice cream shop/coffee bar! The antique mall is also free to enter and has 3 buildings worth of antique stalls - perfect for any vintage lover.

I STRONGLY recommend purchasing tickets online. This way you can choose what exhibits and at what price without the pressure of a line. We visited about 1 hr and 45 minutes before closing on a Sunday and the place was very busy, but we were able to find parking very close to the entrance. 1 hour and 45 minutes was definitely NOT enough time to see all the exhibits and myriad buildings they have. This is fun and nostalgic with something for everyone. It's very navigable for wheelchair and stroller.

Got Bogo with our library passes. Enjoyed the museum and Jurassic area. Didnt get to titanic. Lots of walking from one building to another. Keep that in mind for winters. Stroller friendly. Disney area for our favorite! Need time to walk through. Being able to climb inside trains was also our fav!

Absolutely love this place! So many beautiful cars to window shop and admire. The dining room has wonderfully preserved animatronics, with two Kings no less! The staff were delightful and more than happy to put on the bands for me, despite my anxiety. Of course, the stars of the show were the Rock-afire Explosion. They look incredible, perform so smoothly, and the audio is great out there! I only wish they performed more than one song at a time, but I loved seeing them regardless. If you want to come see them, make sure to check on the website when they're performing! I almost went on Thursday for my birthday, before checking to see they only perform on weekends for the Fall. Needless to say, we got annual memberships, so I will be back!!

I and my two teenage grandchildren had a wonderful time. As one of them said to someone contemplating which ticket to buy, there is a lot of history. It brought back a lot of memories. The Titanic and Crime and Punishment exhibits were very interesting. I also appreciate the scooter rental. I'm handicapped, and the scooter allowed me to navigate the grounds with ease. I highly recommend Volo Museum.

The museum itself was amazing and I was really enjoying myself until I got to the Dinosaur area. Stuck in the back was a “live reptile” area which seemed to be nothing more than an animal prison. Turtles crammed into small tanks, snakes in a plastic tote of water inside another way to small tank. The whole area was just depressing to see and I felt bad for the animals forced to live in these tiny, unnatural enclosures. They don’t need to showcase animal abuse, give the reptiles to an accredited rescue group or refuge and let the rest of the museum be the main attraction.

Ab-so-lutely amazing! I can tell you no matter how much time you set aside for this location, it is likely not enough. The cars were amazing, the movie history ones even more so! As a defunct place lover, the old Disney and Warner Brothers store figures were such a throwback and the chance to hear Rockafire Explosion as well as the Beagles and the King in both varieties (all of Showbiz Pizza Time and Chuck E Cheese fame) was a true treat!! Go, please go see for yourself!

This was our second visit to the Volo Museum, and it was just as amazing as the first! We’re from out of town, but it’s definitely worth the trip. My son absolutely loved the dinosaurs, and there’s so much for the whole family to enjoy. Always a fun and memorable experience!

Concerts & Shows
The Paramount Theatre in Aurora, Chicago, is an ornate, old-school playhouse that hosts Broadway-style productions, performances, and comedy acts. It has earned a stellar reputation as one of the top producing theatres in the Chicago theater scene. The theatre's Broadway Series has received numerous "Jeff" Award nominations and secured 8 wins for its outstanding performances. Unlike many regional theatres hosting touring shows, the Paramount Theatre produces awe-inspiring productions from scratch.
The performances at the Paramount theater are so well put together, the acting is top-notch, the sets are beautiful, and the talent/music/staff is competitive with Broadway in Chicago. They put out an amazing deal so you can buy two tickets for the cost of one for four shows. What a great deal! The theater itself is lovely and the location is wonderful, with many good restaurants nearby it is easy to make a full evening out of attending a show!

The Paramount Theatre is beautiful! First row balcony seats are awesome. I love the tables and chairs on the second floor, nice for waiting and viewing the artwork prior to heading into the theater.

We love the Paramount! We visit 4 times a year (four hours one way) for the Broadway series and it has made us fall in love with Aurora! We love discovering new things to do, places to eat, and walking all over downtown!

Overall, a great theater and we'll be back. Courteous ushers, clean bathrooms, pretty effective will call, and a good production. There were booster seats available for the kids to sit higher and see better. Great fun was had with all the kids at the Frozen show, and I think all the Elsa's would agree.

The Paramount Arts Center was an excellent experience with what I believed to be an incredible sight the interior had this fancy look which I adored and when it came down to the actual play that I saw. The acting and singing was excellent and you could really see the passion that was put into it. The performance there was astonishing. Coming from me this place definitely deserves the good review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What an unforgettable evening at the Paramount Theater in downtown Aurora! Come From Away was absolutely breathtaking—an amazing storyline brought to life by incredible characters and phenomenal singing. The cast poured their hearts into every moment, making us laugh, making us cry, and leaving us completely moved. Truly one of the best plays we have ever seen. Thank you to the entire cast and crew for delivering such an inspiring and powerful performance—you were awesome and absolutely amazing!

Hiking Trails
Starved Rock State Park is a historic landmark area offering a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and boating. The park features canyons, trails, a lodge, and cabins for visitors to enjoy. Hiking in the park provides an opportunity to experience nature's beauty with moderate to difficult trails that lead to lookouts along the upper trails.
Starved Rock has always been an amazing experience for me and my family. The campgrounds are great, and the visitor center is really nice, it has good food and easy access to the trails. The hiking paths are absolutely beautiful and make for a perfect escape from city life to enjoy fresh air, nature, and some incredible rock formations. Some areas feel like a glimpse into what the Earth looked like ages ago. I definitely recommend exploring beyond the main trails especially along the riverbanks and past French Canyon, for even more hidden rock formations and views.

Beautiful park with challenging hiking trials. There was a lot of stairs to reach high elevation points of the canons and cliffs. Be prepared to get your heart rate up. The fall hike was very picturesque as the foliage colors were very beautiful. A perfect time of year to visit.
Michelle B — Google review
I went myself alone, but it was super safe. A lof of people bring their kids, too. There are stairs a little up and down, which is doable. I spent around 2.5 hours to look around French Canyon, Cat Canyon, and . I was recommended to visit here after rain so that I can see waterfall, but I just decided to go with no rain before. However, it is still worth to visit! Parking lot is free, but it can be occupied all though you will get to find a few spots available. I saw some people fishing as well. The staffs at the visitor center are very nice. I asked what's their recommendation, and I just followed. They also let me know the expected time to get some points.

An amazing place, but ... This visit missed the waterfalls, since all are dry (due to lack of rainfall) except one spring-fed. CHECK FOR SPRING CONDITION IF YOU ARE COMING TO SEE WATERFALLS. Still very cool. Lodge reminds me of Giant City State Park Lodge. Landscape reminiscent of Giant City and Garden of the God's in SI. Lots of cool stuff in area as well. Highly recommend.

Great place for hiking with friends, family and your four legs buddies. Wear adequate clothing and shoes and be prepared for doing wood stairs. Carry water with you at all times. Great workout and you will feel quickly the air quality is so different just a little outside the city.

Great hike. You can go a little or a lot. We chose a lot. 12.22 miles. We didn't even see all of it. Fall colors were beautiful. Lots of stairs. By the visitor center there is paved walking or boardwalk. Lots of maps and very well marked. Morning is best if you want less crowds. Fall was beautiful for colors but waterfalls were dried up. Canyons are fantastic views.

I enjoyed my stay here. It was very calm and relaxing. Swimming pool and hot tub open until 10:00 p.m. restaurant is very nice, a little pricey but very big portions. Walking distance to canyons and museum. Cabins are nice with central air and heat.

Starved Rock State Park is a peaceful place for a walk, though nothing particularly stood out for me beyond its small touch of history. It is a good spot for both adults and kids, and I saw many people bringing their dogs along the trails. The restrooms could be better, but the park itself is spacious and full of greenery. I did not get to explore the entire area since it is quite large, but I could see why so many people come here for hiking and camping. If you want a calm day surrounded by nature, this is a great choice.
