Wildlife park
Nature & Parks
Many nature habitats compose this expansive space for camping, hiking, fishing & seasonal hunting.
This place was so close to home yet we felt like we were a million miles from civilization. Spent the day exploring trails and checking out the area, made some great drone videos. Saw some big gators. Beautiful flowers and a white barn owl. Very serene.
Christopher M — Google review
This place is great! With 2 locations to camp, we chose the group camping spot. There are 2 very nice pavilions and loads of room to be private. All for free as long as you reserve.
Javier B — Google review
I love this park, I’ve been hiking an camping here on the Florida OTL trail. Great wildlife like deer, gators, boars, birds, cats, reptiles and all sorts of critters will keep you company at during the day and night. You’ll here some gunfire/ hunting going on in the distance and some swamp buggies at night, nothing to fear just some fellow outdoorsman. I highly recommend this park for anyone who loves to enjoy south Florida nature.
Jack M — Google review
I hiked in and stayed at the first campsite on the hiking trail. The trails are well marked and easy to follow. This is a very easy trail as it is flat. It is a beautiful place to go and enjoy nature. I hope to return.
Nineves S — Google review
Nice trails Not a lot of birds or wildlife. Cool looking disc golf course
Scott M — Google review
Hidden gem. Hiking trails all over up to 16 miles. 3 different length loop trails. 2 campgrounds, 1 for family’s. Trails are well marked and maintained. This area also has horseback trails, I think like 40 miles with camping and over night facilities for horses. I will be visiting this area again very soon.
Double D — Google review
Had a great time at this campground… very quiet..
Martin Z — Google review
Hiking here was an experience, worth the near 2 hour drive. It was peaceful, beautiful and with great company, the Florida Trail Association. Although we passed a camping area, there are no facilities, it is nature at it's best! We saw woodpeckers, hog pits, elan eagle's nest & red shoulder hawk.

Beaches
Bathtub Beach is a family-friendly destination with a unique feature - during low tide, the reef creates a shallow pool resembling a bathtub. This makes it an ideal spot for young kids and those who want to swim without worrying about the tide. The beach offers limited parking but provides amenities such as a gazebo, shower, and bathroom. Additionally, Bathtub Beach is handicap accessible with designated parking and wheelchair-accessible sidewalks leading to an overlook pavilion and sun deck.
Such a great self-serve beach with a few daytime lifeguards and excellent snorkeling for being right on the shore with a massive collection of seashells, small fish, and birds. A clean bathroom with a drinking fountain but no on site restaurants- however lots of great options within a 2-15 min drive would 10/10 recommend
Dr. A — Google review
My boys 10 & 15 loved this beach! It was the favorite of the ones we visited. There are shells, but not a ton. If you go early in the morning it isnt crowded. Parking is limited, so be prepared if you are arriving after 9/930! Bathroom and showers on site. Short walk to the beach.
Kalla M — Google review
Plenty of parking, nice bathrooms and showers, + lifeguards. Clean beach right on the ocean at the southern tip of Hutchinson island. Excellent shelling here. This location has the most shells over 3 other locations on Hutchinson Island that claim good shelling conditions.
Leonard P — Google review
Had a great time swimming and snorkling, the water was great, thte reef was cool. There is construction on going there but the bathrooms were nice and clean! I hope they add outdoor showers or rinse stations outside the bathrooms to wash the sand off after leaving the beach.
David D — Google review
Loved this very different looking Florida beach. The shallow area near the rocks has clear water and tiny fish and tons of shells. Very cool place that recently reopened after being closed due to hurricane damage
Veronica B — Google review
Beautiful beach great for family. I can dive to the corals and see some fish. It's not far from the shore. When the tide is out, you can even walk there on your feet.
Marcela R — Google review
Nice beach for families with a protected reef really close in. A far amount of common shells, nice beach walk South towards inlet. Clear water. Lots of parking. Lifeguard.

House of Refuge Museum

Maritime museum
Museums
The House of Refuge Museum is dedicated to honoring American inventors and entrepreneurs with a variety of exhibits showcasing replica stores and patents. The museum offers visitors an opportunity to learn about the nation's history while also enjoying the nearby beach, which features a unique reef not commonly found in southern Florida. Despite the lack of public restrooms, this interesting destination provides an enjoyable way to spend a weekend day exploring maritime history.
Not only is the house of refuge the oldest building in Martin County, it’s served as a life-saving service to those that were shipwrecked out on Gilbert‘s bar. It’s my favorite beach to bring my dogs too. You can see the exposed part of Anastasia‘s formation which is an outcrop of Coquina that was created by polychaete worms. That’s right, a reef system that was built by worms a long, long time ago. And if you catch it at low tide, you can go in front of the worm reef and see all the creatures that inhabited now. My French bulldog Winston loves to explore it.

Really enjoyed my visit today. Took the shuttle from the Elliott Museum, which I highly recommend as traffic is bad and the parking worse. The buildings are well maintained, the docent and gift shop staff friendly and informative, and the views of the lagoon and Atlantic coast beautiful. Admission is very reasonable and free for veterans with ID.
Kat — Google review
A great piece of Coast Guard and Florida history. This is located off the beaten path. It is associated with the Elliott museum and is located about 2 miles or a 5 minute car ride from the main museum. You can buy a combination ticket to see the Elliott and the House of Refuge museum. I think that is the best deal. You can coordinate for a museum staff member to drive you over and back. It was a good deal and very convenient. I would recommend going to the Elliott first and then the House of Refuge. You could drive yourself but there are very few parking spaces at the Refuge. The house is the only one of the original 10 houses built by Florida to helped shipwrecked people along Florida’s east Coast. You enter through the house by the small parking lot. The staff was very friendly. The entrance house serves as a ticket booth, a waiting area and a gift shop all in one. The small set of structures is located right on the beach and offers a lovely view. They have you start at the third house where a volunteer shows a movie and then describes more about the history of the people and the structures. The next house has individual rooms that describe each period in the history of the house. Overall, it was a very nice visit to a structure that is key in describing the true initial Coast Guard history.

Beautiful place to watch the sun set, or rise, whatever your preference
Butch L — Google review
Awesome little piece of history. Well worth a visit. Plan on spending around an hour at the house, and a bit more time walking along the rocky beach. Parking could be tricky, with only around 20 spaces. Pleasant staff who answered questions and were friendly.
Andrew M — Google review
I love historical places like this. You can learn and appreciate your surroundings more when you visit areas. Our local guide was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. It's amazing to learn about the history buried beneath our own feet. I absolutely recommend to anyone from this area or visiting from out of town. What a gem of history that I'm sure most people would drive right by every day.
Erik E — Google review
Interesting little museum. Worth a visit if you are nearby. The story behind this coastal building is quite special, as it helps understand some of regional history. There is also a cute little souvenir shop. Recommend it and it takes only one hour max.
Simo C — Google review
The sunrises on this beach are phenomenal and breathtaking. The rocks and outcroppings are unique to this beach all along the coast of Florida. Small. Quiet. Scenic. Always see photographers capturing wedding couples, children, and families here every morning we come. Worth a visit if you can. No decent swimming but picturesque. Wear stiff shoes. Rocks will cut your feet up.

Museums
The Elliott Museum is a contemporary museum showcasing art exhibits and interactive displays that document the cultural history of Florida. It features an exceptional car collection, as well as historic collections, making it a must-see for those interested in Florida's past. The museum also includes a gift shop on its second floor, where local artist works are available for purchase. With accessible facilities such as handicap access and elevators, visitors can fully enjoy this treasure coast gem at an affordable price with senior and child discounts available.
Excellent car collection. Was not expecting it. Artwork was beautiful. Restaurant adjacent had live music on Sunday and the beach was right behind it all. What a great way to spend a Sunday. Highly recommend.
Lucy Z — Google review
I was stunned at the amount and quality of their items. This is an absolute jewel and a must see. I was not disappointed. Cost is minimal for the value of seeing great works. If the docent is available for the cars, ask to see it. They have a racking system unlike anything I've ever seen. Take your time and take it all in. I think they have other exhibits that are invited and showcased. When I visited it was Tut and Faberge eggs replicas. Active duty and veterans were admitted free with ID at the time of this post. Great way to spend your time.
Kimberly H — Google review
🏛️ Great museum! Really worth a visit. 1st floor is filled with unusual antique cars and bicycles. Plenty of interesting historical facts about local residents and inventors. 2nd floor is filled with myriad of unique artifacts of Florida history. Most of them are just displayed in a makeshift old store. You can spend hours just exploring this area alone. 🎧 They have an excellent and free audio guide. 🚗 Make sure to check out “car vending machine”. Plus at least two electric cars from 1900s and 1970s. Fun fact, most of their cars are drivable. They rent them to movie studios, news productions, weddings and just take them to auto shows. They have 1930s “Woody” (Ford Model A Staton Wagon) that you can sit in and explore. Make sure you do it and find out just how much more comfortable our cars are today. 🏕️ Moonshine tent display on 2nd floor is excellent. ⏱️ Give yourself ~3-4 hours to explore the museum. 🅿️ There is plenty of free parking in front of the museum. Plus public beach parking right next to the museum. 🍹There is a “Tiki Bar” on site. If you are hungry, you can visit it too. 🚽 Bathrooms a nice, roomy and very clean.
Constantin L — Google review
Neat place. Great classic car section. Different exhibits to enjoy that are changed periodically.
Tara B — Google review
I was very impressed with this museum. I didn't expect so many rooms to view. I expected that 1 hour would've covered everything. I was wrong. You should allow at least an hour and a half 2 hours possibly longer depending. I definitely recommend it.
Karen G — Google review
A very nice local museum that has something for just about everyone. I spent 2 hours there and could have stayed longer. I investigated because i saw a King Tut sign. All the display items were replicas but you got a feel for the size of the artifacts found in the tomb. The museum has a 50+ car collection with mostly card that are from before 1950. It has a baseball card collection with some bats and balls on display. It has a replica Faberge Egg display which is very large. It has a large selection of Highwayman Paintings which were pretty good. I recommend a visit.
Leonard P — Google review
First time visiting and we were delighted with the place. Small but loaded with many fascinating details and historical facts. It’s well worth a visit and recommend taking your time to understand the small items on display. Impressed with the historical items from our area in Florida.
Paul H — Google review
My husband and I drove two hours to check this place out. Loved it. It may be a smaller museum but so many exhibits. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The only thing I wish had been different was to be able to tour the garage. There was a gentleman already there to provide more info on the cars that were on the floor.. Will definitely be back.

Aquarium
The Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center is a 57-acre research and educational site featuring a network of nature trails, a lagoon, and saltwater tanks. Visitors can explore the building's interactive games, learn about Florida's water and animals in the museum, and take advantage of restrooms on-site. The attraction offers a chance to feed stingrays and invertebrates while observing large saltwater turtles and fish up close. Admission prices are $8 for children and $16 for adults.
Last week we went to the Florida Oceanographic Center during our stay on Hutchinson island. It obviously is extremely hot outside this time of year so I recommend bringing water and sunscreen. There are some AC and shady areas to cool down but a good portion is outside. We loved the indoor area that was an aquarium inside with tons of cool fish in it. Highly recommend spending some time visiting.
Rocky 2 — Google review
It was neat, but with how much it costs compared to the other things in the area I expected a bit more. The mosquitos there are super terrible. I feel they should just hand out bug spray for free. My kid got eaten alive just walking around the sting ray and where they feed the fish. The gift shop was decently priced. A boys hat fell in the lagoon and the employees did a great job of safely removing it.
Kalla M — Google review
A wonderful facility! The talks were informative and accessible, and the employees giving them were both knowledgeable and passionate. We walked away with lots of useful information, including how we can make a difference in our own lives when it comes to conservation! The animas seemed well cared for, with many of them being here due to an inability to be released back into the wild rather than just being here “for show.” Would highly recommend a visit!
Becki W — Google review
We love this place its so nice here. There is tons of wild life exhibits. Tons of stuff for kids and adults. The staff are great. You can spend all day here easily. So much fun. Highly recommend for a family outing 👌 👏
Jenilea — Google review
We greatly enjoyed our afternoon here! We saw the big game feeding demonstration, did the interactive sea critter and sting ray touch exhibits, and walked around the inside area as well. Well worth the price of admission! The only thing we didn’t do was the walking trail. It was very muggy and mosquito filled due to recent rain. Shout out to Jasmin at the sea critter touch tank as well as the sting ray area!! She was very knowledgable and funny :)
Kristen F — Google review
The staff is fantastic, they truly are friendly & informative. The place itself however, has little to offer. You can view it all in about an hour or less. You can walk the mangroves & be led to the inlet 🫤 which isn't beautiful obviously. Kids can touch some sea life & view a couple of things indoors away from heat. Other than that, it's just okay to visit.
Finallywoken13 — Google review
We had a time to look around and stop by the marine life center . This place is very good for kids. My son love string ray . They have sensory area : String ray , crabs and etc . Highly recommend!
Local F — Google review
A great educational experience for children and adults. Colorful oceanographic displays, stingray touch tanks, aquatic aquariums and live interactive instructors teaching about sea turtles and sea life, there is a lagoon with fish, stingrays and nurse sharks. Well worth spending a few hours here.

It offers a predominantly seafood-focused menu in a charming setting with exposed brickwork, creating an upscale and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant provides both sit-down dining at Tradition Square and casual a la carte feasting along the scenic Riverwalk, accommodating various preferences.
Great experience here. Outdoors seemed better as it’s a great people watching spot but we were seated indoors. The fresh catch of the day was delicious mahi. Very attentive staff. My favorite place to eat in the area.
Lucia D — Google review
Never in my life have I had such an exceptionally amazing meal. There is no contest that the food we had here was unequivocally the best I've ever consumed; utterly unparalleled. The appetizer of Scallops with caviar on top and a truffle slice was the best version of scallop preparation I've ever had. It started the meal off with a high bar that only continued to get better. I enjoyed an entrée of Coconut Crusted Hogfish in a Cashew Curry sauce that was beyond any ability to express how delectable it was. Every single bite was worth raving about; my taste buds never got used to how outrageously excellent the flavor was. Never before have I been so amazed at the flavors of each and every mouth-watering bite! My husband had the Roasted Maple Leaf Duck which he said was the best duck he's ever had. This was a better anniversary dinner than I could have fathomed (never before have we spoken so little out to eat because it did was so delicious). I cannot rave about this place enough and I look forward to the opportunity to return again for more!!
Ashley R — Google review
Frank took excellent care of us throughout the evening! He was professional and friendly! We are locals since 2014 and this was our first time dining here! Absolutely loved it! Beca took our reservation over the phone. So sweet and friendly. Michelle was our greeter when we arrived she was friendly and attentive to us. We had perused the menu prior to our arrival and enjoyed each course. I began with a delightful glass f Sancerre French Sauvignon Blanc, we then shared Oysters Rockafeder, a bowl of crab & shrimp tortilla soup, apple walnut salad, crab cakes is what my husband ordered and I enjoyed the coconut Crusted Hoggish! Everything was delicious! We will definitely return! The menus selection all inviting! 👍👏🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Catherine W — Google review
Five stars truly isn’t enough for this place! This was mine and my boyfriend’s first time visiting Stuart and unfortunately (but fortunately, in the end) we didn’t find this gem until our last day! We had the absolute best meal of our trip. The atmosphere is so lovely and cozy. The entire wait staff was so kind and attentive. Every dish we got was a must try; the pull apart bread, crab cakes, maple vinegarette salad, honey bourbon filet special and the coconut curry fresh catch. We will absolutely be making this place a staple on our next trip.
Cassandra W — Google review
Megan the bartender is fantastic. The food is always good. The burger is pretty decent but id skip getting it with gorgonzola. It's a tad on the small side so be aware. The seasonal soup they had was amazing this week. The drinks are solid and its a decent happy hour.
Florida R — Google review
Brunch too! Wowza! The pictures tell the story. Just go and thank yourself after. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Even the coffee was on point. Okay okay. We didn’t know what to order because we wanted it all so each of us got what all of us wanted as we usually do. Lol and Holy Buckets, Batman! It was 10/10!!! I just cannot get over how yummy and savory each bite was.
Anne R — Google review
Love the food! Had the filthy oysters and scallops- absolutely amazing and delicious! Unfortunately our server and us did not click- which was a bummer. Although coming here every week for the last several weeks- need to take a break. If spending money for enjoyable outing- need to ensure all aspects on point.
Jan H — Google review
Service was great and the chef accommodated my seafood allergy by specially preparing the veal dish. The veal was tender but a bit flavorless. We sat inside since rain was coming. The table next to us was 12" away but was the only open table. The salad that came with the veal was delicious! Appetizer pear purses was also fabulous. My friend and I split one appetizer and the veal dish and after the upcharge for splitting to get extra salad, total bill including 20% tip was $90. (We each drank water). It was plenty of food and we left full.

Spring training facility for the NY Mets. Older facility. Could use some more hand rails on the stairs. Park on grass $10. Lots of friendly and helpful volunteers. Local police help with traffic control. Bath rooms are small. Tiki bar. Berm behind fence on 1st base side, with sun deck behind. There is an adjacent practise field. Main field has no dugouts. Nathans hot dogs but no Nathans mustard. The announcer got the name of the visiting team wrong (!). Too many commercials, too loud, on the announcement system.
Pat S — Google review
Left after 2nd inning....life long Mets fan, very disappointed. Was always a dream to visit here, big let down. Just moved to the area so this was on the top of the bucket list. Most annoying was Q-tip old timers in section 205 refusing to let people sit in the seats they purchased. Its reserved seating, not first come first served. What are you supposed to do with a bunch of geriatrics on their last legs though? Heard the argument over seating for the 4th time and just took the family and went home before things got ugly. No usher presence didn't help matters. Plus half the stadium was closed off for renovations compounding issues. Food options were decent, that was about the highlight. Wish this night ended differently, will probably be going to Rays, or Tortugas games moving forward.
Crystal F — Google review
Great stadium but they need to be more prepared for an abundance of fans they ran out of Nathan’s fries on the second game of spring training. But all and all great too bring the family

Paleo Hammock Preserve is a hidden gem for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. This dog-friendly destination features wide, flat trails that meander through a stunning landscape reminiscent of Florida's untamed beauty. The paths are primarily sandy or grassy, with some tree roots to navigate, making it suitable for both hikers and horseback riders. While the preserve offers a mix of sun and shade, be prepared for occasional bumps along the access road.
Very beautiful trail. Super quiet and get to enjoy the natural sounds of just nature. If you take glades cut off it fairly rough and the road leading up to the entrance is also rough you have to dodge lots of bumps and pot holes. This is one of the vet preserves I believe
Jeffery N — Google review
Easy to follow trail. Lot of parking and picnic tables. No restrooms. The view from the tower is not much.
Scott B — Google review
Great trail for horseback riding. The trail was well cut/maintained and mostly shaded (big plus in the summer). Most of the trails are short (about a mile or so) but if you do them all it’s 10-12 miles. Nice little hidden spot and will definitely be back!
Amber K — Google review
Dog friendly: yes Trail is wide, flat, sand/dirt,grass with occasional tree roots. Sun/shade mix. This is also a horse trail so watch your step. We heard insects and an airplane overhead; otherwise, it was quiet. We saw evidence of wild hogs and/or armadillos that had dug up the trail. We did not meet anyone else on the trail. Bring your own water. Parking is free in the large fenced in area.
Cheryl E — Google review
Vert nice hiking. Plenty to read about geology & history of the area. Trails were in good condition but signage could use some maintenance.

Heathcote Botanical Gardens in Fort Pierce is a stunning outdoor attraction spread across five acres. Established in 1985, it features the impressive James J. Smith Bonsai Gallery, home to over 100 beautiful trees, making it the largest public tropical bonsai collection in the United States. This botanical garden is a little jewel. The bonsai collection is amazing and a must see in Fort Pierce, FL. Beautifully planted and taken care of. Visited from Seattle and it was such a great learning experience! The bonsai garden alone was worth it! Largest collection in north America i believe. The couple who maintains this bonsai garden are so incredibly knowledgeable and generous with their time. She practically gave us our own tour!

Came here on a weekend for an event they with my family. The AD I read said there was going to way more vendors than there were but it was sill a cute free event to attend. The botanical garden was much smaller than I expected as well. Overall we had a nice time.

Aquarium
The Manatee Observation and Education Center is a coastal awareness nature center that offers informative exhibits on marine life. Additionally, there is a waterfront viewing platform where visitors can observe sea creatures in their natural habitat. Knowledgeable volunteers are available to provide additional information and answer questions. The gift shop offers a variety of souvenirs for visitors to choose from. Although the center was not fully open during one visit, it was still possible to spot at least one manatee in the river.
Our family had a fantastic experience at the Manatee Observation and Education Center in Fort Pierce. During our visit, we were thrilled to spot five manatees relaxing peacefully in the water, seemingly unbothered by our presence. The recent cold snap had drawn them closer to the warm waters, allowing us to enjoy an incredible close-up view of these gentle giants. Beyond the manatees, we explored the center’s exhibits, which included fascinating displays of fish, sea horses, and other marine life. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, providing personalized attention and sharing extensive knowledge about manatees and the local ecosystem. The interactive exhibits were a big hit with my daughter, making the visit both educational and engaging. The center offers an unforgettable experience that’s perfect for families and nature enthusiasts alike.
Demar M — Google review
Small center to help preserve the manatees. $3 entree fee, a few exhibits, inlet access beside and attached to it with a 2nd story viewing tower. Small aquariums with live fish and plants. Entry free gift shop also. Great prices on tourist coffee mugs and many other items.
Stacy G — Google review
Such a cute little center. Sadly, the Manatees weren’t present because of the cold weather. The staff was excellent and engaging. Fun exhibits inside and lots of viewing space outside. Admission is minimal so round up for a little extra donation. It has beautiful outdoor space and even when the Manatees aren’t there, there’s still wildlife around to enjoy.
Lisa H — Google review
Although we didnt see any manatees, we still enjoyed ourselves immensely. People were very knowledgeable and friendly. Beautiful view of the marina.
Allyn H — Google review
Went to see some manatees but unfortunately there were none, we went inside the little aquarium area which was cute for kids. Nice views around the building of the water. The gift shop has some really adorable items!

Good local information on what’s going on in the area great learning for kids boat ramp access fishing or just hanging out and enjoying the atmosphere
John P — Google review
It's a wonderful place handicap accessible. It is especially for small children. And when the weather is nice and the waves are not as choppy, you can see the manatees outside. They even brought out a snake. They are very polite, they will ask If the person is afraid or not to bring the animals to you. There are books that you can read to the little ones at a nice clean table. So there are things to occupy some time And lots of information.
Grace R — Google review
The center is very, very small but offers a large amount of information on manatees. There's several small aquariums and a terrarium with a resident snake, children's activities and books, a butterfly garden, a really nice gift shop, and observation deck with an excellent view of the docks and waterway. It cost $3 to get in.

Fort Pierce Inlet State Park is a stunning 340-acre state park situated on North Hutchinson Island near Fort Pierce. It boasts a half-mile beach that offers various activities such as swimming, fishing, surfing, and scuba diving. The park's coastal hammock habitats and dunes make it an ideal spot for bird-watching and outdoor recreational activities year-round. Known as one of South Florida's prime surfing locations, the park also hosts prestigious surfing competitions from September to February annually.
Absolutely lovely! Great place for kayaking. It had lovely mangrove tunnels. If you don't have kayak there are kayak rentals. Also nice trail through a forest. Beautiful beach overlooking the inlet and another great beach by the ocean. A place full of natural variety!

State Park pass holder so no fee for me but I took a photo of the current cost for non-pass holders. Beautiful state park. Inlet access. Ocean access. Separate parking for each. Baskets to help pick up things left behind. Park was clean. Rangers were present. A couple walking the beach areas and saw one cleaning up trash. They stay on top of their duties. One of the trails was a. It over grown. Bathrooms, picnic tables, grills, pavilions, beach showers, parking seemed plentiful. Lovely turtle sculptures at the entrance and also love the canoe with plants.

First visit to this state park and our whole family loved it! We have 5 kids and they loved the beach. It was very child friendly. It was only $6 to get in. There were bathrooms, some outdoor grills and a very nice beach area. Not too crowded. We went to the inlet side but we were told there are also ocean side beaches. Absolutely beautiful clear water and lovely scenery! Will be back again and again!
Ashley J — Google review
We went here twice on our trip to Fort Pierce. There's a $6 entrance fee and access to all the beach you can imagine. Unfortunately, we were there on a yellow and then a red flag day but we went wading in the inlet where it felt safer on the yellow flag day only. We otherwise walked along the beach, hung out under our umbrella and had some lunch. It was fun to watch the larger speed boats pass by as well. We also found lots of shells to add to our collection as well. Along the short walk from the parking lot to the beach, we also saw some turtles. The white sand is beautiful as well. Everything seemed so clean. FYI there are no dogs allowed at this beach and we saw the park ranger ask somebody with a dog to leave. There are restrooms that are okay on being clean.
Rebekah — Google review
Accessible beach for children with special needs. We had a wonderful experience. Morgan was very kind and got us a special beach wheelchair so we could easily bring our daughter with a disability down to the beach. It made all the difference! We’re very grateful for the thoughtful service and accessibility.

A great spot to anchor. Very convenient anchorage. The only downside is the locals who think that the water is theirs and they harass you with their speed boats especially in NO WAKE Zones!!!

The state park was mostly empty. It cost me $4 to get in as a solo occupant. It was a beautiful beach. I like that they provide baskets to pick up trash on the beach. There are a lot of parking spaces. The only annoying thing is all the construction from the new bride being built creating traffic.

Museums
The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum, situated near Fort Pierce in St. Lucie County, Florida, is a top-notch naval history museum dedicated to preserving the remarkable legacy of the Navy's Sea, Air, Land (SEAL) and Underwater Demolition (UDT) Teams. Established formally in 1985, this museum boasts an impressive collection of rare SEAL-related artifacts such as WWII-era demolition training obstacles and Vietnam-era Patrol Boat Rivers.
🎖️ Very interesting museum! Given that SEALS originated in Fort Pierce, this museum is a must-visit! 🪖 They have a very good collection of original artifacts! Very interesting stands with engaging stories! You can even “board” some of the boats and a helicopter! 🚁 ⏳ You will need ~3-4 hours to take your time and view all of the artifacts. 🎥 In the begging of the museum they have a video room where a series of videos about various operations are shown. The total run time is ~2 hours. But, each video is about 15-20 mins. long. I would suggest going through the museum first and visit this room at the end of your visit. 🎁 Make sure to stop by the gift shop. They have a lot of pins and memorable coins! 🅿️ There is plenty of parking on site. 🚽 There is a bathroom in the “middle” of the museum. Everything is nice and clean.

Excellent show of history dedicated to those who served. Stories told you probably didn't even know about, tons of cool artillery and history you get to experience unlike other museums that we've been to. My personal favorite was the boats they had outside on display and some of the weapons they had inside of the building. If you are in the area or if you have an interest in this stuff I highly recommend giving this place a check out to see some truly incredible things.

Had a great day visiting this amazing museum. I went with two marines brothers and the site is great. Be prepared for a long visit, at least if you like to check every exhibit and read the whole history about, due they share all the data and items are plenty. The store I believe it could have more stuff but stills fine. 💯 % recommendable

A lovely visit to this museum right next to the beach by the way a huge plus…. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ the outdoor exhibits are free to wander, able to enter the huge ship was a nice touch - I did enjoy taking pictures from the height of the ship, they had educational videos about war & the ship’s history. The outdoor was a nice walk & it had an obstacle course for the kids. The inside was $16/but they offered military discounts. All items have been donated and actually used somehow in someway so that was interesting. Well maintained but did spend more time outside than inside. A day out visit was worth it!!!

Love the interactive displays. Great history sections like a real natural museum. Memories of the O course was something. Great memorial plaque wall. And all the challenge coins I ever heard of

Don’t let the size fool you this place is packed with awesome history! Carve out about 2-3hrs there is a lot to see and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. Phenomenal museum show casing the sacrifices we “entitled” Americans take for granted to live free, love this place and makes me proud to be a Floridian!

This place is more of a secluded field that turned into a park. Very peaceful and quite. You can ride around in bike or walk but it's a long trail so make sure you bring water and are ready for the weather. Plenty of parking. I didn't see any crocodiles, only birds. I also didn't see any bathrooms or break areas.

Very enjoyable loop trail for a walk / bike ride. I brought my bike out, had a tight parking lot yet I was able to park my RV safely. The trail is alongside a creek with visible alligators. Lots of birds and I even saw cows and wild boars across the creek. The creek alongside cow was grazing isnt fenced and going close to it should be avoided. Thatched hut is good point for a shaded snack, bring lots of water.

Round Island Beach Park is a serene and peaceful beach destination that offers a nostalgic, old-fashioned charm. It's not crowded with tourists and provides a quiet atmosphere for families to enjoy picnics, walks along the beach, and playtime at the playground. The park features picnic pavilions, walking trails, beach access with showers and restrooms available. Visitors can relax by the shore while listening to the soothing sound of ocean waves.
Stopped at the Round Island Beach park yesterday. It was very clean. Parking was super easy. Beach area is really wide and there are plenty of shells for those looking for some. Closest place to eat is a few miles away. So you better pack your own snacks and beverages. There were lots of people fishing. We didn’t see a lot of wildlife. Just a few sea turtles.

Love, love, love this beach!! ❤ Very quiet, peaceful Beach. Not a tourist spot as it is far enough away from anything that would attract tourists. A family trip just looks like an old fashioned Beach that you remember from your childhood. You see the occasional fisherman, or just the person who likes to relax in their chair and read a book listening to the ocean's waves crashing on shore. There is a lifeguard on duty in case you decide to dip your toes into the water. The beach is lined with private residences far enough back that you don't even notice them too much behind the natural vegetation. Again, this is not a tourist location. You would need to bring all of your own supplies as there is nothing around this area for food or beverages.

Such a cool little place! We stopped in as we were driving through Okeechobee and definitely glad we did. It’s self walk through and by suggested donation. My son loved walking up to all the animals (which were double caged) and it really allows him to feel apart of the experience. It’s cool so see so many different animals in one place and cohabiting!

What can I say except this place is AMAZING! We were staying locally for doctors appointments in Orlando. With spring break going on as well as a Pandemic - we were a little hesitant. We didn't know what to expect (We have a high risk child). We arrived a couple hours after they opened - there wasn't much people at all. You are immediately greeted by the welcoming committee of Arnold's though (the cats lol) as well as a very friendly deer. It's not too big but we saw almost every single animal. It's not like the zoos at all. Your able to see each & every animal. There's no crowd of folks you've gotta walk by or put your kid on your shoulders just to be able to see the animals. There's also a nice garden to take a stroll through. Not huge but cute! The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful as well. My child LOVED coming here and as parents - we did too. It just felt so much less stressful - you can easily enjoy and breath. Lol Beware of the deer walking around though. He saw my husband saying hello to HIS ladies behind the fence and didn't like it. He decided he was going to try and take on my husband until he moved away from the fence. Can't blame him though :) As for fee....they run on donations. Kids are free but they do ask a $10 donation for adults. Honestly - if you were considering donating anywhere I would say donate it here. You can obviously tell while there that it's going to a GREAT cause.

What a fantastic adventure. You can tell the caretakers love the animals, their jobs and making visitors happy! Short staffed and still took the time to bring out two baby animals for us to hold and pet before we left. So much more than I imagined for a small rehab facility. Great Job!

We are South Florida residents and LOVE Arnold's Wildlife Rehabilitation because it is truly a hidden treasure. The staff is knowledgeable and provide a real hands on experience if they have any available animals. They are great story-tellers and truly care for the animals that have been brought to them. This is not a zoo--this is more of a rescue and with the hope that many of the animals can be released. Cierra and Kimmy are dedicated staff members and truly made our family feel special while we were there. While we were there we fed the chickens, took pictures with the peacocks, walked through the butterfly garden and learned about all of the animals. We received a special treat because they had an influx of rescues and were provided the opportunity to hold a baby raccoon and armadillo and then feed a fawn. This was truly like no other experience I have ever had. It is $10 per adult and children are free--but please remember they do take donations as well. We brought towels, dish detergent, extra money and lots of fruits and veggies for the animals. I honestly can't say enough nice things about this place! Do not miss out on this adventure;) Go to Lake O park after and bring lunch. Great day trip!
Valerie G — Google review
It was a wonderful place to bring a young boy. There were so many animals that kids could interact with firsthand. There were two panthers there and they were really exciting to see. Sometimes you go to these wildlife places and you don't end up seeing half of the animals because they're all sheltering from the sun, but that was not the case with Arnold's. Our tour guide (I think her name was Celeste) was very knowledgeable and took a lot of time to share with us. I recommend Arnold's Wildlife Rehab Center.
Ken T — Google review
This place was amazing! Super friendly staff, family friendly, great alternative to the zoo. I would highly recommend this as a fun place to take the kids on a day trip. There are picnic tables under a pavilion where you can eat your packed lunch. You can even bring apples and carrots for the deer! Great place!
Rebekah B — Google review
My mom & I had took 4 kids, ages 1 - 8, to Arnold's to have something fun to do while they were off for teacher's work day. We had a wonderful time & learned a lot about the animals. We had lunch under the pavilion and my niece's were even invited to paint rocks that they donated to the center for them to hide for the other kids who come to the center. I highly recommend it!!
Sindy W — Google review
Such a neat animal sanctuary! We drove over an hour to check out this place and it was great. We got to pet some of the sweetest animals, walk through a beautiful butterfly garden, and even hold a baby raccoon! We were able to see so many different kinds of animals and got to feed the deer. Staff was beyond kind and welcoming to us; they made an effort to have conversations with us and brought out a sweet baby raccoon for us to hold and love on. This was a really fun place and we will definitely be back again!

McKee Botanical Garden is an 18-acre tropical paradise located in Fort Pierce, Florida. This lush and serene garden features exotic and native plants, trees, waterfalls, ponds, stone bridges, and bamboo statues of birds. Visitors can explore the beautiful landscapes with lily pads and historical cabins that create a fairytale-like atmosphere. The garden also offers a library, cafe, gift shop, and hosts events for kids.
We had a great time. Definitely bring bug spray. We bought the wipes they had in the gift shop but they’re pricey for a big group and not as effective as spray. My husband rarely gets bit by mosquitoes but he did here so use spray even if you don’t think you’ll need it. Teenagers & little kids alike will enjoy all the plants and the playground is adorable. We went in July so it was as hot as expected but almost the entire walk through is shaded. The cafe is cute, we got an oatmeal raisin cookie (yum) and an iced coffee (not great). Took us 1.5 hours to walk the entire place but easily could have stayed longer. Highly recommend!

This is absolutely a beautiful place! From the moment you get to the tickets to the moment you leave. People are warm and friendly and super helpful. Very small Botanical Garden but pretty nonetheless. It was $20 per person and there are a lot of bugs in the area of course so be sure to bring some bug spray. No food or drinks are allowed in the park. The gift shop is small but had a few cute things inside. There was a pretty cool beehive inside of one of the trees but I dont think it's there on purpose so just be aware haha. The history of the place is pretty cool too.

We got there and little late so we didn't get to see everything. If we had had more time it probably would have gotten a 5 star rating. We will definitely come back. We drove 2 hrs to get there and at 4:40 the entrance gate was locked. We went around and came in through the exit, so we did get a little time. We can't wait to see the "jungle lights" in December.

Beautiful botanical garden where everyone in any age can find something interesting. Lovely playground with splash space for kids and even some musical instruments. We had a fantastic time walking through this garden. You have to do this slowly, so many details around…don’t miss ☀️

Beautiful park. Lots of history stuff about how it was created and how it survived so long. Tons of cute little anoles everywhere. If you know someone who loves pants, take them here. Side note, if you're worried about $20 entry in a tourist town, you might wanna reevaluate your finances. Because considering the location, this is a pretty standard price. Most botanical gardens are the same price or more given the amount of labor involved in keeping everything thriving and interesting.
Tru B — Google review
We visited the McKee Botanical Garden in Vero Beach and were not disappointed. We try and visit botanical gardens wherever we go and Mckee was a unique one. There were so many picturesque places in the garden paired with the landmark sculptures in each area. This park is a great time for you and your loved ones. It took us around 2 hrs to really finish it all up and I have to say the adventure was worth the money. The park was a little packed but the groups were staggered enough that it was not too big of a nuisance. They had a huge play area for the kids so if you have children bring them along with you to enjoy the gardens as well.

The Vero Beach Museum of Art is a contemporary regional museum that showcases American and international visual art collections. Its sleek, white building located in Riverside Park offers changing fine-art exhibitions and regular outdoor jazz concerts. The museum features a small but carefully chosen selection of works from famous artists such as Monet, Matisse, Picasso, Rembrandt, Hockney, Warhol, Cassat, Rockwell and more.
The museum provided free admission when I visited this past weekend. The museum offered an exhibit on modern French art, Robert Farber's photography and fashion portraits. It's a small museum with an array of art. Highly recommended.

Vero Beach is very lucky to have this beautiful art museum. We have been to several exhibits here and they are carefully coordinated, well executed, and the best part ...everyone including our teenagers loved them! We visited during the Rolling Sculpture exhibit, pardon me, I call it the car exhibit..however, you choose to define it it was really awesome 😎💯 ! My late step dad really loved it. I'm glad he was around to see it. It is located near Riverside Park which is a nice place to walk and view the Indian River after your visit. There are many shops and restaurants in the area as well. You just do not want to miss this stop on your trip here. The staff is kind, knowledgeable and welcoming. The gift shop has unique items and we always buy something to support this great local getaway.

The building itself is beautiful, and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the gift shop had some really nice finds. I wish the sculpture garden had been open during my visit, but overall it was a great experience. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area...!

When traveling from Jensen Beach to Tampa, we stopped by Vero Beach and were thrilled to find this museum. An impressive, traveling blown glass “food” exhibit by Illinois artist John Miller made us smile and take many photos to share with friends. The residential exhibits included three works by Andy Warhol and a small collection of other well-respected artists. A sculpture garden was pleasant to stroll through on the beautiful day we were in town.

Needed a post-run dose of culture and decided to drop by the Vero Beach Museum of Art—and honestly? I’m glad I did. From the moment you walk past that fierce lion sculpture guarding the entrance, you already feel like you’re stepping into something bold and inspiring. Inside, the “French Moderns” exhibit totally pulled me in. We’re talking Monet, Matisse, Degas, Cézanne—all the greats flexing their brushstrokes. I loved seeing the timeline from 1850 to 1950, watching styles shift like gears in a Tour de France sprint. That Robert Delaunay garden scene? Looked like brunch with vibes. Shoutout to the Rodin sculptures—especially the marble one that looked like a dream trying to escape a rock. Dude’s work is raw, real, and somehow emotional without saying a word. There were some wild surprises too. Like a hyper-detailed, slightly spooky modern portrait that made me feel like I was being watched by a ghost who shops at Hot Topic. And a worn-out baseball cap that had more character than some people I know. Bonus: The staff kept things flowing, it wasn’t overly crowded, and there’s plenty of space to walk and soak it all in without bumping elbows.

Quite a museum for such a small town. Staff was terrific and the art displays were super cool, definitely a place to visit even if arts not your main thing, like myself, who has never really been interested in art.

First time here for a free outdoor concert, it was spectacular! I recommend purchasing the cabana, it gives you a guaranteed space to sit, when the show is full! The show was excellent (Ian Lane and Southern Flavor), food and drinks were good, and the waitstaff was top notch! Even the wildlife enjoyed the show!

Had a great experience with my Wife and Son. Both feature and headline comedian were terrific. Music outside was a nice preamble to the night. Drinks were good and food was fairly priced. I want to give a special shout-out to P.Mac for being an awesome Host and MC. The whole family can't wait to come back for more laughs and a memorable night.

Perfect way to enjoy a night out. The performance ( Beattles& Bossi) was excellent. The Acoustics & lighting set the perfect ambience for this journey back in time to the 60s- 70s and to Brazil without leaving your seat. My wife and I both enjoyed the event.

Moving from Los Angeles to Sebastian and then later to Vero Beach after being in the US for 40 years - it was like coming back to America again, but the crowd is different in this return, this crowd is more skeptic about us the foreigners, so we have to navigate very carefully and appreciate the hospitality show. It depends on us and most of us understand that nevertheless our children the day were born here always will create a good reflection of us as an American and yes, I was treated very nice when my daughter came to visit me and took me to Riverside Park we have wonderful service over there so I was encouraged at the next Friday. I was there Again, but this time I was old by myself I did not have my American daughter to protect me from profiling. I am aware to the fact that my appearance (strong, ethnic face) I ended spending about five minutes in Display and it is physically beautiful place, but I was treated by a waiter very negatively and killed my spirit I know one person doesn’t represent the general mood of there citizens in any day city in the US but I strive with my words to stop profiling and to remind ourselves that the only one allowed to do that or the security forces Avi

Fort Drum Crystal Mine (That Camping Couple)

Mines
We had such a great time finding crystal filled fossils and clams at @Ft Drum Crystal Mine. The new owners Frank and Kyndall (@that camping couple) have cleaned this place up and turned it around. We camped overnight and they were awesome hosts. We did the screen/wash station with grade A material and found so many cool treasures. Not only are there crystal filled clams, there are fossilized seashells filled with crystals. We definitely plan on going back.
Pirate S — Google review
Frank and Kyndall have done a fantastic job at making our mining experience pleasurable. The amount of work they have done to fix up this mine is stunning. The dirt is in several piles and very easy to take through. I attended their multi day event and it was way too much fun. Mining, live music, snacks, drinks, nightly fire pit, new friendships, and of course fossil crystals galore. They have several options for digging and the space is safe for families even with small children. Clean Porto potty was a nice upgrade also. We were allowed to keep everything we found. I was really impressed with how Frank always was moving dirt for everyone to have potential for that great find. He also built a huge screen table with powerful water hoses so that you will not destroy your crystal with a pick ax. Kyndall was on top of organizing and getting everyone on the wash table for one hour time slots. Everyone had epic pieces to take home. There is a large flat field for tent camping. Tye night hunting with black lights was really fun. This husband wife team really take pride in their work. They also had a competition with very generous prizes. Don’t miss their next event!

FEB 2025- I had high expectations for my visit to the Ft. Drum Crystal Mine based on past experiences and the promotional material online, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. Having visited the site years ago under previous ownership, I was excited to return, especially with the promise of high-quality material and a productive dig. However, what I actually experienced was far from what was advertised. Despite paying $1,000 for two people, we were left to sift through what was essentially bunk material, yielding nothing but broken fragments, seashells, and clam tops with no crystals. Meanwhile, others—especially those associated with the owners—were retrieving full clams and clusters from separate piles we were told not to dig in. The claim that we were given "A-grade material that had never been searched" was simply untrue. To make matters worse, the hosts were dismissive when concerns were raised. After two hours of fruitless digging, I approached them about the lack of quality specimens, only to be told to "keep digging." Eventually, I walked away after realizing that I had been misled. The final straw was when the owners took off with another group and left us behind without offering to bring us back, which was extremely unprofessional. This experience was nowhere near worth the price, and I left feeling scammed. If you're a serious rockhound, I strongly advise looking elsewhere. I will be sharing my experience with others to prevent them from making the same mistake.
Jimi S — Google review
This used to be a really great spot, but they have not added any new piles for over a year. Really steep price for a place that has not been maintained. If they fixed the water and got new material, the $100/person cost might be easier to bear

Well i live out here..n how this property was remodled was unsafe n the things tht was done to move the dirt..you can only get so much clams n crystals out of those piles cus the dirt out there was brought in by dump truck loads n its been bein dug in for alot years so evenually its gonna run out..i think it fraud to buy a place tht someone built n where all ideas came from..n use it to your advantage ..and coming from back ground this couple has they should of known tht the vlams are gonna run out n their not gonna b able to go n get dump truck loads of dirt any more .im not tryen to cause trouble or make it a issue but its wrong n the price is ridiculious..

Vero Beach Outlets is a spacious outdoor shopping destination featuring a variety of stores offering discounted clothing, housewares, and accessories. While some stores have departed, the remaining selection includes well-known brands like Skechers, Polo, Tommy Hilfiger, Coach, Michael Kors, Williams and Sonoma, Carters, adidas, Hanes, Sunglass Hut, Gap and Crocs. The outlet complex offers ample parking and even provides a courtesy shuttle for convenience.
I love this outlet because it's huge, it is located on spacious beautiful grounds, and it is NOW HOME to my favorite store, BATH & BODY WORKS! The buildings are architecturally appealing and well designed. Bath & Body Works recently moved from the mall to this location. It is new, bright, well stocked, clean, neat and I love the staff. Bealls outlet is here, as well as Coach, Puma, Columbia, Sketchers, Calvin Klein, Crocks, and many more stores. Sometimes they will have small craft fairs in the parking lot. It is Definitely worth visiting and shopping here! A great Highlight to mention is for older folks or the disabled there is a golf cart that will ride you around from store to store so look out for the pick up and drop offs. I took my mom and she can walk fine but she wanted to get a ride anyway, lol. The heat is another factor. What a great idea! Photos from my visits-The Bath & Body items in the photo; that's not even the half of them. Columbia, we visit often for the quality and most often discounts and clearance if you are visiting grab one of these shorts. It's additional spf protection. Bealls is a favorite for housewares and at times you can find Columbia in there as well at a discount. Happy shopping and abundant blessings to our fine outlet stores.

We've been wanting to get down to this outlet to check out their shoes. They had a good selection. They even checked in the back when I couldn't find my size in a particular style. The prices were higher than I thought they would be for an outlet store though. I was only going to get two pairs but they did have a special to buy two get one free so I wound up with three pairs. Not too bad doing it that way.

A lot of stores have left since my last visit but I’m still very happy with what’s left. The stores are clean, the employees are friendly. You can make a nice few hours and walk the entire outlet complex. Skechers, Polo, Tommy Hilfiger, Coach, Michael Kors, Williams and Sonoma, Carters, adidas, Hanes, Sunglass Hut, Gap, Crocs. Plenty of parking and they have a courtesy shuttle that operates during the day for elderly, disabled, or just lazy :). I really hope more stores come back. It’s a great location right off i95.
Thomas D — Google review
Good outlet mall with a variety of shops to choose from. There are a few hotels here as well as two restaurants. The Cracker Barrel and the steak and shake are the only two available. There are outparcels to build on in the future. Most of the outlet shops are clothing related though there are a couple of nice shops that sell furnishings. Close to 95 and excellent ingress/egress onto SR 60.

Park
Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park, located 25 miles northwest of Okeechobee, is a vast grassland offering activities such as camping, stargazing, and birdwatching. The park spans 54,000 acres and is home to diverse wildlife including crested caracara, deer, gopher tortoises, rabbits, red-shouldered hawks and wading birds.
Fantastic park for camping and seeing stars, wildlife, and rocket launches all in one place. The wild deer, turkeys, and birds will come really close to the camp grounds early in the morning. The view of the stars on a clear night is great. They have an area dedicated to no light for minimum light pollution. You can see the rocket launches off in the distance (about 100 miles away). The facilities are well maintained and reasonably located. There is ice for purchase at the office. The hiking trails were a bit underwhelming. Straight, flat and mostly the same scenery. Pretty large temperature swings when we visited (April). The night time temps were a bit chilly but midday was hot for longer hikes. We definitely plan to return and camp here again.

Great camping experience! Stayed in the family loop, made reservations online. Spot had electrical hookup and water for RVs, but we were just in a tent. Bath house was clean and even had a large outdoor sink and a clothes dryer. Easy little trail to hike here as well. The sky looked beautiful at night, can definitely see more stars out here than in the city. Lots of little critters to see out here as well!

Had a wonderful camping experience here. They have charging point at each camping spots. And water tap as well. They have good washroom facilities too. I visited the park with my friends for star gazing. Had fun! Just need to book the camping spot well in advance if booking for a new moon day. Lots of folks come here for star gazing.

Had an awesome inspiring time camping at this park. They have miles and miles of trails through the prairie and hammocks. It's vast, beautiful, and filled with animals. I only spent a day there but the experience was amazing. Their facilities are very well maintained. Showers are clean and private with space for your things and a charger in the bathroom. Their paths were clear, well marked, and easy to follow(so was their map). Only issues I really ran into were with camping. I got the last available spot on my night so can't complain but spot #20 is better for a camper or RV than a tent. No shade. Then the firewood I got was extremely damp and hard to keep going especially with the wind blowing hard off the prairie. It was just as well since I was exhausted from the hiking. Saw so many animals, tons of deer and from fairly close range. The stars were easy to see and even if you don't walk in the astro pad you still get a great view from camp. Something making a horrible sound (probably a coyote) woke me up blaring right outside my tent at 5am. Just in time to watch the sun come up over the prairie (pro about site #20). I didn't put a dent in the trail walks but it was a park I'll come back to and do more. Lovely park. Also forgot to mention you CAN rent bikes there. I was having trouble confirming this before I went but you just have to ask at the ranger station.
Victoria V — Google review
Was really pretty, we went tent camping at site #15. It was nice, saw lots of animals and pretty plants. Didn’t see any stars but that’s because it was cloudy. This isn’t the parks fault but I do wish they had a warning listed on this campsite as we were the only site that flooded during 30 minute heavy rain. We ended up leaving two days early since all our stuff got flooded out (again no fault of theirs we knew it was going to rain site #15 was the only that was flooding) Possibly put a warning on that campsite for tent campers. Otherwise loved all the flora and fauna we saw and the guy working the office was nice as well

The park overall is amazing. There are many trails and the area is super isolated and peaceful. It's definitely one of the unique parks in Florida we've visited so far. Unspoiled experience of the Real Florida. Having said that, it seems to be understaffed and underfunded. The restroom area is outdated and the cleanliness is not the greatest. Regardless of a few of the shortfalls, we have truly enjoyed this park and the abundance of wildlife we've seen while staying here. We picked a great camping spot and enjoyed the laid-back quiet atmosphere.
Z B — Google review
Stayed here to try and get a glimpse of the Milky Way and was not disappointed! The sky was a bit cloudy in areas which made it lighter than ideal but we still saw a ton of shooting stars as well as the moon and Saturn rising in the morning. Lots of bugs so be prepared! We also saw lots of deer at all times of the day, lots of different sparrows, turkeys, hawks, and a couple of caracaras on our way out. Super cool! If you’re camping you can hear the cows mooing in the distance at night which made me laugh but also made it harder to sleep lol. Definitely want to come back again to see more stars and wildlife- just wish the light pollution wasn’t encroaching from the surrounding areas but what can you do. Bathrooms were clean so that’s always nice. Also! I called about my reservation beforehand and Karina (I hope I’m remembering correctly) was really really helpful and went above and beyond to answer all my questions. Can’t wait to come back.

Last weekend had the pleasure of enjoying one night of camping with my husband at Astropad site of Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park. I booked the site almost 3 months back and at that time failed to realize that we will be one week into the hurricane season and it might be either cloudy or rainy. Finally, when it was time to go I thought let’s see if weather is on our side and then we can go or drop our plan( I am only 2 hour away from here). Anyways, i woke up and saw clear skies and started packing my cooler and camp. We reached around 8pm, close to sunset ( you call and take gate codes if you will reach there after 6pm). It was so peaceful, you could see for miles. We saw wild turkeys running around during sunset. Sky was clear saw we got the opportunity to see stars and moon (it was so lit during the night because of the moon, could walk around under moonlight). Beautiful breeze at night so no ac or fan was needed per se. Bring a bug spray though, the mosquitos were like tiny vampires.🤣 wokeup at 4 am watched milkyway and shooting stars.Stayed up then went for a walk and saw 3,4 deers grazing near astropad enterance. In the end I can only sum up my experience nothing less than spectacular.

Mel Fisher's Treasures is a small museum in Sebastian, Florida, founded by the renowned treasure hunter Mel Fisher. The museum showcases an impressive collection of gold objects and artifacts recovered from various shipwrecks off the east coast of Florida. Visitors can marvel at detailed jewelry, rare coins used in global trade, and even an astrolabe from the 1600s that remains in pristine condition.
Very interesting museum of artifacts from the local ship wrecks. And a store to buy some cool souvenirs. My brother has been wanting to go here for some time since he likes metal detecting and really into these ship wrecks. So I went with him and actually really enjoyed it. May even go back again someday. I took tons of pictures that are allowed as is videos too. There’s a lot of treasure here lots of silver coins and gold etc. They even have a small theater to watch a short movie about how it all came to be. I highly recommend this and as I said I’ll probably return again one day. The building from outside seems small and not crowded yet there’s so much in there you need several hours to go through it all and it’s normally not too crowded at least the day I went. I’m only posting a few picture to not give away the whole experience. There’s so much more here to see.

Great time. Lots to see including tons of actual gold and other treasures. A bit tight to move through with a walker but not a huge problem. The staff was great and the exhibits are interactive and lots of fun. Took about an hour to get through. Great parking on side and back of building. Sits right on the river with a great lookout for after the museum.

One of the coolest places I've ever visited! The video was interesting, but the huge real gold treasures blew me away. We even rented detectors and went to the beach to treasure hunt haha. Bought coins and treasures at the gift shop too. They even have a real gold bar you can hold through a wall. I loved that! So cool! Heres a few photos..

If you ever find yourself on Florida's famous Treasure Coast, be it for treasure hunting or if you are just interested in the area's rich history, then you will certainly want to put the Mel Fisher Treasure Center at the top of your list of things to see and do. Who knows, the treasure bug just might bite you too. 🤪 The museum is the focal point of research and salvage operations in the area for the doomed Spanish treasure fleet of 1715, and I highly recommend that you pay the museum a visit. If you are interested in treasure hunting, the Center is a great place to start. I first met Mel Fisher in 1990 in Key West while working on a magazine article about his discovery of the Atocha and his research center and museum there for Western and Eastern Treasures. He was a very gracious man, real, personable, and down to earth with every one he met. On the Treasure Coast now, I still stop by every now and again when the family is in to say hello. You can learn more about treasure hunting on the Treasure Coast by visiting my YouTube channel @Frank Hill Adventures. Thanks for looking. 🏴‍☠️

Very cute place. The are making updates with some under water exhibit while we were there. So much treasure and cute details. Very entertaining to walk thru. Even thou it is small they make it look big with lots of little offsets and interactive things. The treasure is awesome! Would love to buy some .. but so expensive.. the lifting the gold bar was my favorite.. one of the reasons I went . So cool!.. wish I could touch a silver bar too .. the gift shop is cute too wish it was bigger.. the hallways were a little tight and hard to get thru even with just 6 people.. and a lot of people including myself take a minute to read things or look at things. Love the decor and the pirates! Wish there was more photo ops! I felt awkward trying to get a photo with the pirate with so many people in the tight place . But it was super neat. Love doing something different and learning a little about their family is cool! What a nice tradition to hold.. treasure hunters .. thank you for the experience.

The McLarty Treasure Museum, located south of Sebastian Inlet, showcases artifacts and exhibits from the 1715 Spanish fleet shipwreck. The museum offers a glimpse into the history of the treasure coast and the shipwrecks that gave it its name. Visitors can explore various displays, dioramas, and a continuous 45-minute film about the area's history and the lost treasures.
**An Amazing Journey Through History!** We had such a fantastic experience here! There’s so much to see and learn, with endless artifacts to explore at every turn. While we didn’t catch the 45-minute video this time, it’s definitely on our list for our next visit—because we will be back! A great bonus for families: there’s a fun activity for kids, and completing it earns them a special “gold or silver coin”—our 9-year-old absolutely loved it! Most of the display cases come with interactive speaker boxes that give fascinating insights about the exhibits, making everything feel even more alive. The volunteers truly know their stuff and were incredibly friendly, helping bring the displays to life with their knowledge. Since it’s volunteer-run, I’d recommend calling ahead to confirm their hours. And don’t miss the outdoor boardwalk! It’s not only beautiful but also lined with informative panels, and there’s even a “pirate ship” lookout that adds an extra touch of adventure. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for a fun family outing, this place is a hidden gem! And for only $2 entry per person the price can’t be beat!

A unique collection of artifacts from the 1715 Spanish Treasure Fleet. The disaster occurred when a Spanish fleet sank during a hurricane. The storm sinking several ships, treasures were lost, but some have been recovered over the years. Treasure hunters continue to search for the remaining treasures that covers miles of coastline. The museum exhibits treasures recovered, including gold, silver, and other precious items. Visitors can explore exhibits featuring artifacts from the shipwrecks, as well as learn about the history of the treasure fleet from knowledgeable local historians. The museum has a beach nice white sand. Enjoy!

I've lived in Melbourne for 40+ years and didn't know this museum was here. It is really well done. Only cost $2 to enter. Venturing forth, the adventures began with a sense of excitement. The environment felt incredibly clean, with a refreshing atmosphere. As we explored, we happened to notice many starfish along the sandy shore. Delicate and beautiful, the starfish added to the wonder of the scene. Numerous crabs scuttled across the wet sand. They scurried away as we approached, always cautious of the unknown. Such a place provided a delightful experience. Experiencing such a scene felt memorable. 😎🌴🏝

My wife and I camped here for two nights on 17-19 August, 2025. I booked the reservation online about a month prior to our visit using the Florida State Park's app. I had tried to camp here last winter, (snowbird season) and it was booked solid from December through March. We arrived at the park about noon, but the Ranger at the office would not let us check in early. She did however, allow us to drop our travel trailer in the parking lot beside the park office so we could drive down to nearby Vero Beach to do some exploring. We got back to the park at about 5:00 pm, got checked in, and set up in our Campsite (#9), which was overlooking the water, but had zero shade trees around it (and it was very hot during our stay). The site had water and electric hookups, but as with most Florida State Parks, you had to use a dump station near the campground exit to empty your holding tank. The restroom/shower facility was only about a 75 yard walk away, and it was clean and had good hot water pressure and decent ventilation (but no air conditioning). This is a very nice State Park and its very popular, particularly with surfers and saltwater fishermen. The beaches on both the north and south sides of the inlet are nice, but you have to be careful when there is any kind of storm brewing in the Atlantic because they rip currents can get very dangerous. There is also a nice and calm swimming lagoon on the north side and to the west of US Hwy A1A where it's safe for kids to swim. There are also lots of pavilions and picnic tables available. There is a concession building on the north side of the inlet near the jetty, but it's still closed after getting ravaged by hurricanes over the past few years. We did notice there were two food truck vendors parked in the area under the north off ramp of the bridge. It does get very hot and buggy here during the summer months, but the winter months in this area are delightfully pleasant with low humidity and mostly clear skies. If you are "Glamper" like my wife and I (i.e., we don't cook at the campsite, but rather dine out), then you will have to drive about 12 miles south to Vero Beach, or about 15 miles north to Melbourne Beach to find any restaurants. Vero Beach has several very good restaurants that run the full gambit of shabby to sheik. Melbourne Beach only has a small handful, but we at a place up there called Sand on the Beach that wasn't too bad.

Sebastian Inlet State Park is a special place. There are two sections of the park: one north of the inlet bridge with ocean beach access, food concessions, and a swimming cove on the inlet side and one south of the bridge that offers a campground, fishing museum, gift shop, bike trails, boat launch, and fishing piers. The facilities are clean and the staff are friendly. Admission fees are reasonable. Highly recommended.

I literally love this place!!! 🌊 From the wildlife to the nature, everything about it is amazing. Every time I visit, I end up spotting manatees, dolphins, or some other cool animal. The best part is that you get both the tide pool and the beach in one spot — it’s seriously such a gem! 🐬🐚☀️
Emma R — Google review
One of our favorite places by far. Get to see dolphins and manatees on the side by the bowl inlet. The beach is relatively clean and shallow in most of the spots the days we visited. The boardwalk waves were insanely high due to the off shore hurricanes but the inlet was nice and calm.
Cassie C — Google review
A beautiful camping spot but the no see ums will eat you alive. Loved seeing dolphins and all the birds. Squirrels have no fear of humans here.
Lea R — Google review
Beautiful camping spot! Take your fishing gear and bicycles. Lots of wildlife in and out of the water. We saw a lot of birds, manatee, dolphin, etc. Take note, there are a lot of mosquitos and no-see-ums, but that's typical of Florida this time of year. The museum wasn't open and that was kind of disappointing, but there is so much more to do!
Leslie E — Google review
Great place, I love it. The rangers are super friendly. The only bad thing is the mosquitos and no-see-ums. Go prepared if you camp here during June and July.

Nestled in Palm Bay, Turkey Creek Sanctuary is a stunning 130-acre preserve that invites nature lovers to explore its diverse ecosystems. With an extensive boardwalk stretching approximately 3.4 miles, visitors can meander through well-marked trails that lead to unpaved paths for those seeking a little adventure.
Amazing little sanctuary with beautiful and peaceful walks. When I arrive, soaked for the rain. The reception area did sell coffee. However the staff was so friendly that he made me a cup. I truly enjoyed this walk and

I came here with my wife for the first time to check it out before coming with extended family. The broadwalk was well maintained and provided a nice path for most people to travel on. Nice signage and paper guide with descriptions of areas of interest. There was plenty of shade on the broadwalk. There was ample parking across the road. There is a library next door with parking as well. We visited the learning center which is located before the broadwalk. It is a nice little center to learn about the animals in the area. There are multiple trails off of the broadwalk as well.

Amazing local hidden gem. Pictures are from the flood trail. It had rained alot so the water was just on level with the wooden path, it almost felt like walking on water. Definitely a beautiful and serene walk

Very nice walk with well marked trails and maps alomg with warning signs and identifying plants. The board walk has engraved memorials You can purchase a board to be engraved for a fair fee I believe was $75. We saw lots of turtles, lizards and a manatee, unfortunately no gators were visible on our walk. Although the sign at the beginning of the trail said the mosquito level at a 4 rating we weren't very bothered by them.

I have lived here in the Melbourne/Palm Bay area for almost 3 decades and probably passed by this place over a thousand times. I guess I didn't know what I was missing. I arrived at the crack of dawn and found an extensive trail system with plenty of boardwalks and off-boardwalk trails (and the occasional spider web). I saw a bobcat run by as I was walking the Hammock Loop (which isn't closed btw). I also saw several manatees in Turkey Creek as well as a turtle or three. Back along the trails, I happened upon a racoon and several squirrels. It was overall a relaxing and amazing experience. I will definitely be returning.

What a wonderful hidden treasure in Palm Bay! Free parking and the first thing you walk up to is a butterfly garden. There is a variety of paths you can take for your walk - a path for those who like to exercise that have various exercise stations throughout; a hiking path that meanders through areas of shade and some sunny spots. My favorite was the boardwalk. This meandering walk features boards engraved in quotes, people's names, groups and honoring a loved one's memory. For a small donation of $75 to this nonprofit, you can have a board engraved. The path features little side areas where you can view beautiful scenery. It's also a self-guided tour with information on the fauna throughout. Don't miss the walk on the boardwalk near the water! I saw many turtles, fish and to my excitement, two manatees swimming slowly by. Stop by the information center for a bottled water, displays and purchase inexpensive jewelry as a memento of your special day!

Love this place! Well maintained little distraction for the day. Its fun to see all the different planks on the boardwalk and a great place for some nature pics if you’re so inclined.

Although it was hot I enjoyed walking thru the boardwalk. Very relaxing afternoon with friends. The nature center was very informative and cool things to see. Restrooms are very clean. No fee to visit so definitely worth the trip especially in the cooler months.

Water & Amusement Parks
Nestled in the heart of Florida's Space Coast, Andretti Thrill Park is a vibrant amusement destination that caters to thrill-seekers and families alike. This expansive park features an impressive lineup of 19 attractions designed to deliver excitement for visitors of all ages. From exhilarating go-kart tracks and a challenging ropes course to a fun-filled mini-golf experience, there's no shortage of activities to keep everyone entertained.
It was awesome! We went for my daughter's 11th birthday and had a blast. It was an hour and a half drive from us but it was worth it. Everyone was very friendly, they had so many arcade games, two different racing tracks for adults ( 54" & taller) and one kids track. They also had a drop tower, paddle boats, laser tag, mini golf, and batting cages. It is worth getting the whole day wristband to get on rides and play Lazer tag as many times as you want. We went on Tuesday and basically had the whole place to ourselves. I would definitely go again.
Jezabeth R — Google review
Being able to get $35 off for the tickets was somewhat better than the actual price of $49 per person for an all-day ticket. For one the golf course really needs work, there's supposed to be water running through the entire thing and it's bone dry along with some of the carpeting on each course very tore up and mangled. There are random plastic PVC pipes just poking out of different places it looks really old and non playable. Some courses were uphill and wonky so we had to chase our ball down the sidewalk so it wouldn't roll through the fence outside the park. I don't feel like even if it's an entire day worth of fun here or what they considered fun anyway, it's not worth the price. They also do not allow food or drinks inside the establishment which makes it very hard to enjoy anything outdoors because you die of heat stroke. We had to keep going outside to our vehicle to get our drinks and then go back inside. All around really annoying because I do not want to pay an arm and a leg for drinks either. The arcade is small and not much to choose from. You'd have to spend quite a bit to get any good prizes. i noticed a plushy in the claw machine that had a significant amount of black mold on it. Disgusting! ☢️Overall The Establishment is very old and run down and definitely not worth the price. I would suggest going elsewhere because even with this coupon that saved us $35, at the end of the day I still feel like we could have went to somewhere better. Update, the complimentary card that comes with the Groupon, you are not allowed to use on claw machines and does not work with getting points for prizes. Completely stupid.
Punkie T — Google review
Buy the Groupon! We had a blast! We caught it on a good day where there was no wait for any of the attractions! Go karts, rock climbing, batting cages, bumper boats, arcade, laser tag all included in the Groupon! Everyone was super friendly too!

What I can say considering the weather was not in our favor. The staff is amazing. At the time of our visit. The courtesy was incredibly. Every step of the way. They worked hard around the weather and catered to guest beat they could give the situation. My son loves the experience so much he requested to go back. And because the service of the staff, me as the parent supports his decision.

What an amazing place! Wow, the people working here are so kind and helpful!!! When I was paying for my two girls the incredible Jamey was so patient with me. I have never had anyone take so much time trying to help me!! I had paid on my phone and she worked with me what seemed like forever to get in. I highly recommend her and this place! Yes, she got us in!

We used a Groupon and enjoyed ourselves. The go-carts were fun. My daughter loved the 360 ride and the rock climbing. The baseball bats were bent, and they were uncomfortable to use. The pitches were inconsistent. The girl in the laser tag was very nice. She was fun to talk with. All the team members were nice and seemed to like their job.
Lynda S — Google review
Went twice 2 months apart. Usually half of the rides and attractions are unavailable. Wait times per turn are up to 25 minutes. I had an incident where my wristband time went out. But I was standing in line for 20 minutes and missed it by 1 minute and was unable to use the attraction. Not worth the price and will not return.

Howard E. Futch Memorial Park at Paradise Beach is a stunning coastal gem located just five miles north of Downtown Melbourne, Florida. Spanning over 12 acres, this park offers an array of amenities that cater to both relaxation and recreation. Visitors can enjoy the soft, powdery sands and crystal-clear waters that evoke a Caribbean vibe while lounging on the beach or taking a refreshing dip in the ocean. The park features seasonal lifeguards for added safety, ensuring families can swim with peace of mind.
A lovely place for the whole family. Lifeguard on duty within the Beach area. There's a food truck near the restrooms in case you are hungry. Restrooms are generally clean. There's a nice little fenced-in playground for the kids to play at with several, & swings. Outside shower faucets to rinse off after you're done swimming or surfing at the beach

Easy access to the beach. They have ramps for easy access which is great if you're handicapped. Restrooms available. Food stand located across from restrooms. Lifeguard on duty. Nice place to surf fish. Also decent waves for surfing 🌊 Nice beach. Well kept.

Great beach access from this park. Plenty of parking during weekdays. Looks like some beach access boardwalks are being improved and under construction. Clean restroom. Nice and in working order outdoor shower to rinse off. Shower has convenient option to rinse off just legs, which some other beachside parks in the area are lacking. Looks like the volleyball courts are also being well cared for.

Nice beach. Middle of the day, middle of the week; it's surprisingly busy, but still not very. There was a food truck in front playing music, but I didn't try it though.

Canova Beach Park is a dog-friendly beach park that features a picnic pavilion, showers, and restrooms. It is one of the few parks in Brevard County where pets are allowed on leashes to swim alongside their owners. The park has become a favorite spot for pet lovers who enjoy spending time with their furry friends in the sun and sand. However, some people have expressed concerns over the presence of fishing activities, which can pose risks to animals due to hooks and lines.
Canova beach is our favorite pet beach along the central FL east coast, thanks to its accessibility (not too far of a walk to get to the water) and wider shoreline. The view here is gorgeous and it's not over developed so it feels less touristy, which I adore. There is a dog wash station and restrooms/porta potties. This beach can get pretty busy and everyone is pretty good about keeping control of their dogs. Parking is free. My only complaint is parking is VERY limited and I'm not sure where to park when the beach lot is full.
Tricia P — Google review
This was a great place to bring my dog. All of the dogs we encountered were super friendly. There is a hose available to wash up when you are all done soaking up the sand and sun. Make sure to bring shoes to protect your dog’s feet or carry them to the water because the walk through the sand is hot especially during the summer.
Melissa J — Google review
Easy access to the beach, foot, and body rinse station for your candy feet/bodies and good for rinsing off your dog, too. Pet friendly. There are restrooms and a water fountain. Lots of cute couples with their dogs. Families too.
Mia D — Google review
Canova Beach Park is one of the few beaches in Florida where you can bring your dog, and it’s a great option if you want to enjoy the ocean with your furry friend. The dog area is small but clean, with bags, trash bins, and rinse stations available. Everyone was friendly, and it was fun seeing other dogs enjoying the beach too. For people, the beach is peaceful, not too crowded, and has picnic tables, bathrooms, showers, and easy access from the parking lot. The sand and water were clean, and we appreciated the relaxed atmosphere. One thing to note: sometimes there are a few drunks hanging around the main entrance, which can feel uncomfortable, but there’s another entrance you can use that’s quieter and more laid-back. The only other downside is that the dog beach section can feel a bit tight if it gets busy, and not everyone strictly follows the leash rules. If your dog needs more space or isn’t comfortable with other dogs approaching, it might be a little overwhelming at times. Still, overall it’s a great local spot to enjoy the sun and surf with your pup. We’ll definitely be back
Krystalle C — Google review
Great spot for dogs and their humans. Was 1 lady with leashless dog that was going into leashed dogs space. She didn't seem to care at the problems She/and her dog were causing. Water spigot area near parking lot. Does have a covered area with picnic tables but there are several homeless folks (counted 5) in area. Has bathrooms and an outdoor shower. Entrance/exit at a red light.
M — Google review
It’s awesome that this place exists because it’s extremely hard to find a dog friendly beach. However the lack of law enforcement is ruining this amazing place. Lots of unleashed dogs that are aggressive with no supervision from owners and when they do finally notice there dog has no recall. Homeless living at this park keeps growing as well. Hopefully they will step in and enforce laws so it can be the amazing place it once was. My fear it they will just remove the pet friendly because of dog fights that would not happen if leashed with responsible owners
Christopher C — Google review
My boy and I had so much fun. The waves were too rough to swim in but we enjoyed splashing around. We went in the afternoon on a Friday and there wasn’t many people around. For our first time here we will definitely be coming back when it’s warmer. The beach is very clean and the water is lovely. Free parking and showers for dogs and people make it my new favorite beach! I wonder if there’s another beach that is comparable.
Naomi — Google review
Great free beach parking. Went on a Friday afternoon and there were no open spots but luckily someone was leaving and I was able to park. Really nice beach area with pretty shells, great to take a walk or just relax and stare at the ocean. The restroom area was fenced off but they had a few porta potties in case you really need to go.

The Maxwell C. King Center has been an excellent venue for the BAC Performing Arts Showcase each year. The staff is professional, accommodating, and truly supportive of the arts and our community programs. The facility is always clean, well-equipped, and provides a beautiful setting for our performers to shine.

I think it's safe to say after a dozen shows at least to leave a review for King Center. We have been coming here for many years and have ALWAYS had a good experience. It's nice to have a local venue that gets great shows up the street from the house. It's definitely starting to show its age. However, that adds to the charm of rhis place for me. The volunteers here always go out of their way to help. The sound is always great, and the seating is comfortable.
