We drove around looking for Roseate Spoonbills but sadly found none. The welcome center is closed for remodeling and the temporary trailer was closed as well. We saw egrets, white herons and storks, Mangrove flats, painted barricades, NASA launch pads, several pull offs for fishing, no restrooms so go before you go over the causeway bridge. We never got out of the car, side road paths are not paved. Would like to go back to find the Roseate spoonbills and flamingo’s when cooler and welcome center opens.

Not to be missed for bird and wildlife lovers. In a few hours in September 10, I spotted some 30 bird species, many at close range, as well as box turtles, wild pigs, and a few snakes at safe distance. Stunning, varied land and sea scapes.

The beauty of this place is incredible! It is hard to put into words, for a reasonable summary, how cool this place really is! Go early in the morning and start on the Black Point drive. Sure, the regular *touristy* stuff can be fun, but Merritt Island National Reserve is WORLD CLASS!

Went there at the end of October and was so happy to see manatees at the manatee viewing spot and across the way by the boat launch! There were around 20 of them feeding on the bottom of the river (so got to see their pancake tails) and sometimes rolling around in the more shallow spots. Was amazing to see! In addition to the manatees we saw so many bird and even a tiny alligator. It’s really worth a stop if you are looking to see some wildlife.

It was a nice drive, but because of the weather, which was way too hot.There was really nothing to see. I was surprised not even an alligator was laying around.

Wow, best highlight of my vacation. Went there with no expectation. As the visitor center, my wife was abled to borrow some binoculars while, in my case, was carrying the camera. After the proposed way to visit the Refuge was given, i was going nuts when we reached Black Point, not even when the loop started, I could have spend the whole day just down there, there was sooo many birds to look at and pictured. We had plan to walk the trail, etc etc.. time fly so much that we had no time to walk the trail (5 miles walk). Coming from the North, was great to see so many birds species I am not familiar with. I do suggest to have either a good identification book or use Merlin app. Even if a good part is done by car, on the 7 miles drive, you spent a lot of time outside, do not forget the sunscreen and water.

Do you enjoy spending a sweltering hot Sunday morning trudging up hundreds of stairs and hauling your sweaty body to the top and around the edge of a railing hundreds of feet in the air in order to take in the oxygen your lungs burn for, the breeze your dripping face yearns for, and the views that make every single step worth it? Well, this is it! This is your place! We met an employee named Todd who truly went the extra mile to make our trip memorable. He was personable and knowledgeable, both making him a valuable asset to the destination. When we completed our journey to the top and around the museum(s), we were gifted a certificate boasting our accomplishment. A sweet touch that will serve as a reminder of the time we climbed the tallest lighthouse in Florida and the 2nd tallest in the US!

Absolutely loved it here!! The ladies working were absolutely wonderful and helpful!! Got a little lighthouse and a cute bag!! We went and saw all the buildings, even climbed the lighthouse! It was beautiful. Very well taken care of. The gentlemen at the other building; the hotel. He was very kind and helpful as well! We didn't have to wait for a group to tour or anything too. Just get your tickets/wrist band and head on in!

Free parking just steps away from the gift shop where you can purchase your tickets. Admission to the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse is $6.95 for adults (age 12+), $1.95 for children (ages 3-11), and free for infants (ages 0-2). Note: It was one of the hottest/most humid days of the summer so drink up before you get there and dress appropriately. Went right to the beach after to cool off ;) but it is a lovely way to start your day. Our docent took us to the lighthouse, allowed us to climb the 209+ stairs (she didn’t go with us and I don’t blame her), beautiful breeze and a wonderful view.Take the time to take a few videos and photos. However, Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse & Museum offers much more than a climb—it’s a blend of coastal drama, architectural history, and educational exhibits. Whether climbing to the top for sweeping views or exploring the restored Fresnel lens displays, visitors consistently find it worth the visit, whether or not they’re lighthouse buffs. Friendly staff, well-kept facilities, and budget‑friendly pricing all add to the appeal. What a lovely part of Saturday. Thank you

Worth the Climb! Climbing to the top of the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse was tough but so rewarding. The views of the ocean and waterways stretching out forever were breathtaking, and the breeze at the top felt incredible. Inside, the museum’s old lighthouse lenses were fascinating, and the Pacetti Hotel Museum gave us a glimpse of the area’s history. It’s a great mix of adventure and learning, and my teens loved it too.

We were going to just tour the museum, but the tram tour of the racetrack area was only $15 more, so we did both! The tram tour was awesome! Just being in the infield area of the track made my day 😃 ! The gentleman giving the tour (I wish I could remember his name) was exceptional! The amount of information he provided was mind boggling 😊 ! The museum was really well done and had many more exhibits than I really thought they'd have. The gift shop at the end has something for everyone on your list! I would definitely tour the entire place again!

We had a fantastic time on the Daytona International Speedway VIP Tour! From the moment we entered the building, the staff were friendly and welcoming. We loved seeing the cars in the lobby, learning about the history of the Speedway and its legendary drivers, and exploring the facilities, museum, and gift shops. The rooftop lookout, VIP lounge, and observation deck provided incredible views of this iconic track. Special thanks to the many sponsors; NASCAR, AdventHealth, Toyota, Ally, Rolex, and others, who help make this such a world-class experience. Every NASCAR fan should take this tour at least once! Our only suggestion is that the 22-passenger tour bus used for the VIP tour could be improved. The design of the bus unfortunately blocks much of the forward view, so passengers—especially those in the front seats, can’t clearly see the sites as the guide describes them. It would make the experience even better if a bus with an unobstructed front view were used, allowing guests to see each location as the driver approaches it. Overall, a fantastic experience that we highly recommend. We look forward to visiting again!

On our way home. We've been wanting to visit for a while, I'm glad we did. The tour was very informative. The track is fantastic. The museum was great. They had a virtual drive.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. We are not into racing but it doesn't matter we learnt more than we thought 🤔 and was well worth the money. The museum was far better than the Silverstone race track in the United Kingdom.

The World Center of Racing! No place on earth like Daytona. I took my whole family to the 500 and my oldest son and I went three years straight to the night race in the summer. An amazing experience for a lifetime of memories.

Great track and amenities. We came for a Chin Track Days event and had a blast. Toured the facility and explored the museum. Would definitely recommend coming to Daytona for track days, racing, or tours!

I recently visited Daytona Beach with high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience was quite underwhelming and did not live up to the hype. As a destination known for its vibrant beach culture and attractions, I was expecting a lively and enjoyable atmosphere, but several factors left me disappointed. The beach itself was not as pristine as I had hoped. The sand was deserted , which was very disappointing. Additionally, the beach seemed less clean than anticipated, with litter in some areas, which was disheartening. I was expecting a lively and energetic atmosphere, but instead found the area to be somewhat lackluster. Many of the shops and attractions felt dated, and there was a noticeable lack of vibrancy in the downtown area. It seemed as though the town had seen better days and was in need of revitalization. My visit to Daytona Beach was not what I had anticipated, and I left feeling disappointed. The beach and town did not meet my expectations, and the overall experience was underwhelming. While I understand that some people may enjoy the area for its historical significance and annual events, it did not resonate with me as a destination I would be eager to return to.

Parking fees are steep. You can drive on this beach. Lots of people.

I love the warm orange color of the sand here. It’s ’s such a unique sight! One of the coolest things about Daytona Beach is that you can actually drive and park right on the beach if you have four-wheel drive. The fee is around $30–33, but if you have a disabled parking pass, it’s free. Otherwise, there’s street or lot parking nearby. Bathrooms are available, though they could use a bit more frequent cleaning. You can rent chairs and umbrellas, which is great if you want to relax without lugging your own gear. There’s also a food truck/ice cream vendor right on the beach if you don’t bring snacks. The best part for me? The waves, they’re absolutely perfect for relaxing, playing, or just watching roll in. Daytona Beach truly earns its title as “The World’s Most Famous Beach”!

Most definitely doesn’t live up to the hype. To me, it seemed very underwhelming. I guess if you were here to see the races it would be more impressive maybe? I don’t know, I just don’t get it.

Just got back from Daytona Beach, Florida, and I gotta say, it was a total blast, bro! The "World's Most Famous Beach" title is legit, the energy is high, and the vibes are exactly what a Chad from Charlie's Angels needs. The main attraction is definitely that wide stretch of hard-packed sand and the warm Atlantic waves. We're talking golden sand, perfect for soaking up the sun and making some epic memories. It's clean, easy to access, and the beach patrol keeps an eye on things, so you feel safe while you're catching those rays. The fact that you can drive right onto the beach is a game-changer – super convenient and a unique experience you won't forget. The views of the sunrise and sunset over the water are absolutely magical, no joke. When I wasn't feeling the laid-back beach life, I hit up the action. The Daytona Beach Boardwalk and Pier offer classic fun, with shops, arcades, and plenty of places to grab some food. The food at Joe's Crab Shack was a whole experience in itself, with a "Shark Attack" drink that was a total show. Daytona has a unique mix of vibrant and laid-back, family-friendly yet exciting, making it the perfect spot for anyone looking for a sweet getaway. Highly recommend this slice of paradise to anyone who wants to have a blast! I'll be back, no question.

Been coming here for 40 plus yrs. Still amazed at the size of this beach. It's never crowded, anytime of the day. It's a gradual walk into the water, no drop off. Perfect for kids. Lots of places to stay and eat. The pier is so much fun on a Saturday night. You can't beat this place!

Daytona beach really surprised me! I loooved getting to spend time in the water and just relaxing. Very chill and family vibes. The sand is white and the water is clear enough for me. I would definitely go again and visit!

Very beautiful, extremely well kept. It was hot but there is plenty of shade and multiple restrooms. Stunning views of the intracoastal waterway and lovely roses. We paid $5 for everyone in our car and parking was plentiful. Really glad we decided to visit.

Beautiful place for a nice, quiet visit. The gardens were beautiful. The gift shop was closed unfortunately so we didn't get to visit there. You can buy plants there apparently but not the day we went. So pretty, lots of information to learn and beauty to look at.

My husband and I had our engagement photos done here over two years ago. Washington state park will always be special to us. It is such a beautiful place. The staff keep everything super clean and all the plants look very loved. They have a cute nursery you can purchase plants on certain days. I love the beach with all the coquina that is right there too. This is one of Floridas hidden gems! A must see in Flagler county. Great place to picnic and playground for kids. Adorable gift shop with locally made items. This is a great representation of old Florida with all the live oak hammocks. On the beach you can catch sites of dolphins, stingray, octopus, and manatee. It’s also a great place for shelling. Make sure you check the tide pools before going. There’s also a beautiful owl that lives in the live oaks.

Very nice park for a day tour. There are picnic areas inside with nice short trails. The gift shop has some snacks and ice creams. Parking is also nice and seemed plenty. Also the beach at the opposite side is beautiful and much quieter than other famous beaches. The park ticket covers the beach parking s well.

So incredibly beautiful. Flagler county does an excellent job maintaining their parks. I particularly love the rose garden and the sitting areas along the intracoastal. The mosquitos/yellow flies can be pretty brutal at certain times of the year so prepare accordingly during the warmer months.

Visit this July, the place is beautiful and peaceful. Walking the trails makes sure to apply mosquitoes repellent before, walking. Even so I still got bites from mosquitoes, it’s seems that the mosquitoes didn’t bother that I had repellent on me (other than that I enjoy my hiking trails). One trail was super sunny less shade than other trails. I had a wonderful experience walking around and seeing oaks trees, and the history of the place.

Beautiful location with friendly staff and clean restrooms—definitely a great spot for portraits, engagement shoots, and nature photography. Just a heads-up: sometimes other visitors might appear in the background of your shots (like a couple walking up the gondola steps during my session), so it’s helpful to be patient and respectful of everyone sharing the space. Overall, a wonderful place to capture special moments!

Cool place to check out if you’re in the area. The lighthouse was the main attraction of course and it has signs to let you know how far up and how much further you have left as you climbed it. Once you get to the top the views and breeze are nice. The stairs are very narrow so you have to stop and wait or let people go by sometimes. But it’s not a bad hike at all! The rest of the sites are self guided and in old buildings but are maintained. Most have AC which is where you found the most people with it being so hot. There’s plenty of information and artifacts in each part you entered. Unless you’re stopping to read everything, the tour goes by pretty quickly. I highly suggest bringing water with you if you’re going during the summer months.

The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum is an absolute must-visit. The property is full of rich history, and the view from the top of the lighthouse is truly breathtaking. While the climb does involve a lot of steps, it is well worth the effort. Beyond the lighthouse itself, there’s so much to explore—from learning how boats were built to seeing how recovered artifacts are carefully cleaned and preserved. This site offers a wonderful mix of history, hands-on learning, and stunning scenery. Definitely worth a stop when visiting St. Augustine.

My wife and I went to the special event at the top of the beautiful historic lighthouse. The event is held once a month to watch the sunset and the full Moon rise. We were rewarded with a beautiful sunset and the full moon rise over the ocean was awesome. Our experience was seriously diminished by the male volunteer that was supposed to be pouring champagne for all the guests but seemed totally focused in looking after two younger women whose glass were always full while we had to ask several times for a second half glass. The volunteer attitude changed a five star experience to barely a three stars. In future please have the volunteer treat all guests equally. At the opposite end we wish to commend Tammy as very pleasant and helpful with information about the lighthouse and in passing food around.

The set up is serene. Before even walking into the museum you're greeted immediately and all questions answered. Then you can walk leisurely through out. 218 steps in the lighthouse. Then exhibits , even little hiking trails around made it a full immersive experience. It's honestly a romantic, scientific and historical experience. Worth it.

My first time at a lighthouse and it did not disappoint. So much history! The view from the top is stunning. It will take 219 steps to see it. The discount being offered on the front porch is worth it, if you plan on purchasing merchandise. The staff is friendly and helpful. Thank you.

This is a beautiful place set back in some trees, not far from water. There's plenty of history to learn and over 200 steps to reach the top, which has some beautiful views of the area. This is a worthwhile place to explore. The staff are very friendly and eager to answer questions or help.

This is a very well maintained lighthouse and facilities. Allowing self guided tours to the top was a nice feature. Nature trails, restored light keepers house, Coast Guard barracks, and other buildings brings a lot of historical facts to life. The ship wreck and military displays were great too. One of the best lighthouse visits I've had. Spent over two hours here.

This was an amazing experience, I enjoyed visiting the Castillo de San Marcos. The history here is incredible — it really feels like stepping back in time. The fort itself is beautiful, and the views of the water are awesome. The cannons were definitely my favorite part. It’s just one of those places that makes you appreciate how much history St. Augustine has to offer. Highly recommend it, go during the day and at night.

Awesome experience! The fort has many places to explore and learn new things. I would recommend everyone visit. You can buy the tickets online or at the entrance. We bought ours at the entrance in minutes with very helpful and pleasant staff. There are multiple places to sit, rest and take in the magnificent views.

Very cool historic castle to tour! The top offers a great view of the water and surrounding area, plus old cannons you can check out. On the ground level there are multiple rooms to explore, each with interesting displays and information about the history of the fort. You can also see step-by-step demonstrations of how soldiers would load and fire the cannons as well as their muskets, which is really fascinating. The staff dressed in Spanish army costumes brought the place to life and made the whole experience feel even more authentic. Definitely worth visiting if you’re interested in history or just want to see something unique.

What a fabulous place to go with friends family or just to go for a visit on your own. Great for family with children as well. Lots of history to learn about. There's a small gift shop with really cute items. Because this is also a National Park if you have a park pass your entry is free. If you're military you'll also get in free and can bring a visitor with you at no extra cost.

The Castillo de San Marcos is always well worth the visit. The structure alone clearly articulates its history and its various functions from the 17th through the 20th centuries The grounds are well-maintained by the NPS and are excellent for walking. This fort is one of the many treasures that makes Saint Augustine the beautiful city that it is. To see the ancient walls lit up at night is breathtaking.

Knowledgeable rangers, grounds beautifully kept. This is a good reminder of our countries past history, one that tore us apart. It's also reminds us that sometimes surrendering you believes can rebuild a country. Would recommend.

Great place to stop and experience some very important history. Spent about an hour and half walking the grounds visiting the museums and attending the 15 min movie. Plenty of parking on my visit which was Sunday afternoon. Well done park. Entrance is free.

Rangers that know their subject. Well maintained grounds. Excellent restoration of the buildings. Allow yourself time to walk the grounds and take in the story. Open every day 9 to 5, with the exception of the usual holidays.

We visited for 4 hours and still did not see everything. The rangers and Historical interpreter were very knowledgeable and informative. It is hard to believe we were given the privilege of learning from such talented and passionate individuals at this beautiful park… even harder to believe they don’t charge an entry fee.

The Appomattox national historical park is breathtaking early in the morning, teeming with wildlife throughout the year, and droves of wildflower fields that are a feast for the eyes

This park exceeded our expectations. It’s incredible to see how much of the original village has been preserved. Walking through the McLean House where Robert E. Lee surrendered was a powerful experience. It’s an amazing place to connect with the past and reflect on the events that shaped our nation.

Abe's living history presentation on the porch of the Clover Hill Tavern today was simply fabulous, easily the best such thing I've ever heard, and I've heard many.

It was really nice, quiet garden to walk, hang out place. You can picnic or just lay down and take nap! I went here with my husband. We walk to the down to see Japanese garden and Italian garden. We saw a lot of squirrels and deers. It was amazing. I love nature and i like the way they take care of this place except bamboos. Please, take good care of those bamboos! Bamboos symbolize very good fortune. The park/garden was not dog friendly unfortunately. That is why I gave only 3 stars just because bamboos (one of my favorite plant) and I couldn’t bring my well behave dog. I would still recommend this place, family friendly, stuff were friendly. It is also nice date idea. It is a romantic place. Oh, there is a parking lot.

Free, lots of free parking. The mansion is closed under renovation/construction but still had a great time walking around the Japanese and Italian garden. Didn't manage to walk the entire park butvwhat we did was beautiful. Went end of October and still had lots of beautiful colorful flowers. I recommend taking water and snacks.

I’ve been to this place during the day with my kids, and it is absolutely fantastic. It has a huge green meadow, beautiful Japanese gardens, and plenty of deer to watch. Everything is incredibly scenic and peaceful — a perfect way to spend time with kids and family. They also have a great play area, some cool animals, and lots of photogenic spots. I definitely recommend visiting! During the fall, they host a “Glow Night,” which was really awesome and such a fun experience.

Me and a friend stopped here to stretch our legs. Beautiful property. The Italian and Japanese gardens were very pretty. It is hilly so it may be challenging for some. Especially since some of the paths are under construction.

Maymont is a beautiful Park located in Richmond. They have beautiful gardens to walk in. They have lots of animals to pet and feed. The fee is free to get in. They have the garden Glow going on right now. It takes about 90 minutes to walk through the whole thing. We love maymont and we come here about once a month. You can never appreciate the beauty of it enough.

We only went for the Garden Glow experience and arrived pretty late in the night. It was a bit chilly around halloween, but we bundled up and had a great time. The Japanese Garden is a must see experience, I wish we had more time here. We did the hike and unless you have limitations with walking I would suggest it over taking the tram. Overall, it was a great experience and worth the money we spent on it.

Maymont is a must see Richmond landmark and shouldn't be missed. It has beautiful and unique formal gardens, an animal farm, a historic home, a nature center and so much more. Years ago I attended a wedding at the Italian Gardens and it was a beautiful ceremony. The Italian Gardens are right behind the historic mansion. In front of the mansion is a grouping of the most amazing trees that my children loved having a picnic under. Maymont has benches set up under these trees. The fact that admission is free to all of the grounds and the farm area is amazing and quite the gift to Richmond. I hope people appreciate how unique and special this is. Highly recommend this special gem of a place.

If you live near Washington, D.C. and have already explored all the Smithsonian museums, and you're looking to venture a bit farther, this place is worth the trip. It’s not huge, but it offers a thoughtfully curated collection — and best of all, it’s open year-round and completely free. The surrounding scenery is also beautiful, making it a perfect getaway for those who want a peaceful break from the everyday hustle. The current Frida Kahlo exhibition didn’t quite meet my expectations, as it features more writing than artwork, but it’s still worth a visit. This is a museum where you can enjoy the playfulness of surrealism and discover the hidden modernity within ancient art.

There are a lot of great works of art! More Egyptian items than I have seen other places. That was very neat to see. The Faberge eggs were very interesting. I really enjoyed the section with the black walls and the lighting on the paintings. That really made them pop! We also enjoyed the giant paintings!

Wedding Venue: We had an amazing experience planning and hosting our wedding at the VMFA!!! Beth was awesome to work with through the planning process, and wedding weekend. She was kind, helpful, professional, responsive, and we had full confidence in her executing our event! She helped provide all the critical info up front, answered all our questions through the process, provided guidance, vendor suggestions (DJ was amazing), helped coordinate details for some of the other vendors, and overall was a calming presence that put us at ease. The wedding logistics were executed flawlessly, and it was such a nice feeling to be able to have full confidence in Beth and the staff, and truly be able to enjoy the day/evening. The venue itself (Amuse & Claiborne) was perfect, and our guests were raving about it - they enjoyed the different rooms to talk and dance, and enjoyed the patios. The food was incredible (especially the mac and cheese!), we loved having so many options as a part of the station dinner, and guests really liked having the food out all evening. The bar never had a line, everything was efficient, and guest enjoyed the selection. Most importantly, we and our guests noticed and appreciated how every staff member we interacted with was so nice, helpful, and were just a positive addition to our evening. Lastly, we loved all the different outdoor options for pictures, including a private first look in the front of the building. The grounds are so beautiful! Thank you to Beth and the entire VMFA staff for everything they did to make our wedding weekend perfect, smooth, and SO much fun - we are so grateful! I visited the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and absolutely loved it! The Frida Kahlo exhibition was incredible, so inspiring and beautifully curated. The museum itself is spacious and elegant, with a great atmosphere for art lovers. I really enjoyed spending time there, and I’d love to go back to explore more of their collections!

This museum is both active and peaceful between the inside and the outside. It's a go-to for me. This is fantastic place with an incredible collection, whether you're into art or you're just checking it out for the first time.

My son and I went today. It was an incredible experience in no small part because of the wonderful people who work there. I am bad at jotting names down to remember them for reviews but.. the lady on the first floor from Texas was kind and directed us to some amazing art. The gentileman on the second floor with the nice mustache was helpful. And Mary in the cafe showed us compassion and gentilness in a very embarassing moment. Thank you VMFA y'all rock and your space is amazing. All the love from your new Texas friends we're already plotting our next visit!

So glad we visited on our last full day in the region. I hadn’t been here six I was a little girl. We took the behind the scenes tour which gave access to all 3 floors of the house. The guides are amazing as they gave immersive history lessons as the tour unfolded. Highly recommend this tour for ages 10-100. Lots of walking though but it was beautiful and thought provoking.

This is a great destination to learn about history and get out in nature. The shops, museums and the tour guides are fabulous. The staff are very knowledgeable and personable. You can watch live archeological digs happening in real time. They have many ticket purchase options depending on what you want to do and are handicapped accessible but for those who like to hike and walk there is a very nice walking trail up and down the mountain. There's something there for everyone. The view is blissful. Definitely a bucket list visit.

Sunday morning on the first shuttle to Jefferson's masterpiece, and I got to walk around the grounds alone for a few moments, imagining times past. The landscape looks so good, even this late in the season, and the vegetable garden is beautiful. I signed up for the house tour, so got to see the inside, totally worth it, especially on a drizzly day. I was here 32 years ago, and feel lucky to get to be there again, even just for a few hours. I try to donate annually, to try to help this great project, l so appreciate it. The gift shop and café are great, and I'm delighted to bring some seeds home grown in the garden. Listening to the new book on 'Jefferson- The Art of Power' as I drove home. What an amazing person and legacy he left us.

The house is much smaller than I expected. The restoration and tours are excellent. Our guide was so knowledgeable. There wasn't a question she couldn't answer. There is a considerable amount of walking on the grounds so wear comfortable shoes. The museum shop is expensive but very nice.

I would give this amazing, historic, estate 5-stars if it weren't for our abysmal tour guide. I highly recommend you educate yourself on Jefferson's life (the good and the bad) before taking a tour here. Our tour guide clearly hates Thomas Jefferson and had an agenda the entire tour. She called him a liar. She said he had no interest in religion. And she glazed over almost all of his actual accomplishments. I hope Monticello will start hiring people who can communicate the whole truth of Jefferson and his Estate and bring people the magic of our founding fathers again. That being said, Monticello is beautiful and I was awestruck as we walked through the house, through the gardens, and even down to the graveyard where descendants are still being buried. How cool is that?? The treasures kept in the house are impressive and the architecture is something to marvel. I'm excited to go read Jefferson's biography and then return for another trip in the future (hopefully getting a more educated and enthusiastic tour guide).

Great place, cool look, and great sights. The price is insane! $22/adult. $42/adult if you want to go inside the house. That does not include the second floor of the house. They say it’s owned by Thomas Jefferson non-profit. They are 100% making a huge profit off those prices. Highway robbery. Nice employees though. I don’t want to recommend; I will not say not to go either.

Had a wonderful day at Monticello. Got my ticket for the house tour. As it was a weekday in the off season, there were all of four of us, rather than the max 14 per tour. Our guide was first rate. Had tons of information and insight, making the visit even more meaningful. Also took the guided slavery tour which was excellent. There's also so much to see on one's own as well. I highly recommend!

Very Nice place to take the little ones. Clean, and Fun. Extremely Over Priced for Food, and Drinks. I recommend bringing a cooler with food, and drinks in it. You can exit the park, and eat at the picnic tables near your car, then go back into the park when you are done eating. We bought a Large Cup at the gift shop, and then paid another $8.00 to fill up at any drink station around the park. The cup was $25.00. Crazy prices. The games to win a stuffed animal is 15.00, or 20.00, for 3 chances to win. Again, WAY Over Priced. The Rides are Amazing, and it is a Fun time for you, and your family, but bring Lots of Money. Oh, and they do NOT Accept cash in the park anywhere. You have to purchase a card, and load it with your money, to purchase things inside the park. I did not like that. Have Fun.

This place is so nice. So much shade. There aren't any of those blacktop pathways which is good. The rides are great. I didn't get to go up the Eiffel Tower. But I've heard that the views are great form up there. I would definitely visit this place again whenever I get the chance to.

Great place for kids and thrill seekers. Good roller coasters and some rides like Delirium and Drop Tower, that will have your stomach in the back of your throat! Twisted Timbers is a newer wooden coaster, but is smooth, fast, and is a decent length for the time spent waiting in line to board the ride. Their are rides for younger children in their Snoopy Land section of the park. I visited most recently during their Halloween Haunt and walked through few of the mazes. The people they have acting the parts of the spooky/creepy/scary characters were pretty good. Though having a rather intuitive nature, those types of mazes generally don't surprise me, I did see a good number of guests being taken off guard and scared. One disappointment of this visit was the Dominator, roller coaster. Not because it wasn't fun or thrilling, but because it was closed for repairs/maintenance every time we tried riding it(both on Friday and Saturday) The real disappointment was on Saturday after waiting in line for an hour to ride that particular roller coaster and having the ride closed as soon as we were sitting in the car strapped in and ready to ride! One other roller coaster, Racer 75, was also delayed as we were waiting in the staging area, after waiting in line to ride.

I haven't been to KD in over 10 yrs but I took ny teenage daughter ans some friends to Haunt.. I brought a No Boo Light for me but it was kind of scarey. We arrived at 8 and left when the park closed. The kids had so much fun that they wanted to go back on Sunday🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️. I can for see we will definitely be utilizing our season passes alot in the upcoming year.

We bought all day tickets and we mainly went for the haunt, but there really wasn’t too much scary they did still have the rides going at night time. The haunt didn’t start till 7 o’clock I believe it was. The food and drinks are very expensive outrageously expensive. I usually don’t say stuff like that but it’s best to buy season passes. If you go get the best ones that you can get to where you get food all day and drinks every 90 minutes plus pictures on rides that do take pictures that’s the best deal

Soooooo much fun! The haunts were clever, the atmosphere was cool. Drinks and food readily available with gluten free options all over the park. The rides were fantastic and the shows were exceptional, well practiced and timed.

First time going to an amusement park and it was definitely worth it. I had so much fun especially on the roller coasters and the wave pool. Depending on the rides, the lines weren't too crazy for some of them. Get a yearly pass is a great option, especially if u live close by because there is so much to do that you'll need more than 1 day to complete. Will definitely come back again for the rides I didn't have time to do😁

This was a really impressive place to visit but don't expect to learn much about the president. There was a lot about the house and his wife but they didn't not talk a lot about the man as President or otherwise. I left not having a feeling of the man. You get a some dates and facts but you don't get a since of the man like you do when you visit Monticello and Mount Vernon. They do have one of the best exhibits on the enslaved community subjugated there. One thing that did become clear during the visit was that Madison's wife Dolly and her son were garbage human beings that destroyed families to maintain her own lifestyle and even allowed herself to be excommunicated from her own religion to gain the wealth and comforts slavery gave her. Her son was a degenerate gambler, drunkard and womanizer and she lived above her means driving her family into crippling debt to host and entain people. I should clarify that I found the grounds impressive the inside of the home and the tour was less so. Our guide was fine and did a good job but we just didn't have enough time on the tour to see everything and ask all the questions we wanted to. If you want a really intimate tour visit his birth place at the Belle Grove Plantation. The place is not as expansive but can a more intimate experience. That plantation is also a working bed and breakfast so you can stay there but it's haunted so beware.

Outstanding house tour with extremely knowledgeable staff. This was one of the best tours I've been on, and memorable for all ages. To complement the tour, the extensive recommended reading available at the adjacent gift shop is worth a look, even if to just browse. Highly recommend this site as a key one to reflect on Virginia and US history.

Taking the tour was definitely worth it. The staff and tour guide were knowledgeable and friendly. The grounds and house are beautiful.

I visited Montpelier with my sister on a Sunday. We arrived at 10:15 and participated in the 10:30 tour, which was very enjoyable and informative. We toured the basement exhibits and the garden on our own. We packed our own lunches, but there’s also a modest cafe next to the gift shop. We briefly toured the DuPont Art Gallery. There’s a lot to see. We spent about three hours touring the property.

This is a must see if you are interested in our country's founding. It is in his house where the US Constitution and the later Bill of Rights were originated. The house tour was indepth and very informative. I disagree with the reviewer who said there was too much focus on the slave population. Inside the house the focus was heavily on James and Dolly, but you can't interpret the house and how it works without talking about the other residents who served the Madison's in that home, and it was a very small part of our guide's comments. The basement exhibit on the enslaved people is powerful and should not be missed. The video presentation may move you to tears. Keep in mind there are two parts in the basement and they are not connected. Monticello could learn a bit about how to handle their interpretation of the enslaved Sally Hemings and the others who lives there. The gardens are nice and the views are excellent. This is place is well worth your time.

We wanted to bring our grandkids to the caverns to show them this very natural and beautiful part of our Earth. This is the largest cave system on the East Coast and one of the largest in the world. You will see stalactites, stalagmites, and other unique formations. The whole cavern is paved with a railing to hold onto if needed and easy to navigate. They provide a brochure to help You see their unique formations like Dream Lake and the Giant Redwood. Discovered in 1878 they have onset up so you can easily complete a self-guided tour. We were fortunate enough to meet one of the cave guides Scott who was amazing and very entertaining. He pointed out a variety of special features like “Virginia bacon” and “Jaba the Hut” that we would not have seen without him. We also purchased tickets for the kids to do the Ropes Course and they loved it. The only bad part is the cafe, their food is beyond horrible but if you are desperate to eat something it is what it is. The ice cream sandwiches we bought had a sell thru date of July 2025 and we visited in October.

Luray Caverns is such a beautiful and unique spot which is worth the visit. The location is easy to get to, surrounded by gorgeous mountain views and plenty of parking. It’s a great family destination with something for everyone. The caverns themselves are incredible to see in person-massive underground chambers filled with stunning stalactites and stalagmites. The lighting highlights all the natural formations beautifully. The guided tour was informative without feeling too long, and the kids were completely fascinated. Above ground, there’s just as much to enjoy! The Car and Carriage Museum is full of vintage vehicles that both kids and adults will love, and the Garden Maze is a fun challenge that keeps everyone entertained. It’s an easy and fun day trip for families, and one of those places that feels special no matter your age. Highly recommend if you’re anywhere near the Shenandoah area.

We have been to a lot of caverns in the United States, even mammoth caves. And this is much more magical than any other cave system. We have been in this is a very cool 54° underneath the earth with some beautiful walking paths. And a self graded tour that took about an hour. We absolutely loved it. We will return this place is great. The city is small. This is the main attraction and it is worth going through the city to see it

Full day of fun! The cavern was spectacular as expected.... and the organ deep down in the cavern was a pleasant surprise! The Cavern literally sang to us! Your cavern ticket includes entrance into the toy museum, the car museum and the small frontier village. I highly recommend you spend a little extra ($12/person) to do the garden maze, it is tons of fun and you are on a mission to find the clues to figure out the secret phrase!!! The frontier village is a neat installment and during the peak season I assume they probably have tour guides or even better - characters actors to personally show people around the village. As it were, it was a weekday, in the middle of November so we simply roamed the ghost town and read the signs that accompanied each building. The sign on the blacksmith shop said that their resident blacksmith just passed away in March of 2025 and he had been there to share his craft since the village was first created. That sign is what leads me to believe that during peak season, they may have character actors or perhaps actual crafters during peak season to liven up the village.

Worth the price of admission, the caverns are a great experience, but that is not the only feature the toy museum is small but interesting, the auto museum was spectacular. The heritage village was very interesting. For a small extra cost, walking the hedge maze was so much fun.

A beautiful and unique experience in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. Self guided walking tour with some break taking views of jagged stalagmites and stalactites. Walk is mostly flat throughout but path can get hectic during mid day at its peak. Well worth the price of admission of a one of its kind experience. Highly recommend doing this at least once. Also worth noting prices online seem to be cheaper so book in advance!

Great site. We all loved it. My kids are 13/11/7 and were very impressed. A very nice tour. In the general admission included an old car museum. It's a bit small but all the cars are well kept and its a very nice museum as well. They loved it too. Recommended.

A fantastic museum, organized chronologically through major conflicts. The exhibits feature everything from small arms to armored vehicles and aircraft, with vivid dioramas depicting Marines in action. The layout is well thought out and honors the service members who sacrificed their lives in each conflict. Knowledgeable volunteers are present in each area to provide detailed explanations. Truly enjoyed the visit.

This was a fantastic museum. We were told it would take about 1.5 hrs but we took 3 hrs & we still missed things. As we walked in we were talking to a guy who was a volunteer there so he ended up walking with us & giving us lots of information. We had an amazing visit.

This has been one of the most impressive museums I've ever seen. The interior design, the organization of the exhibits, and the architecture of the building itself are simply marvelous. From the moment you enter, the staff is incredibly friendly, and in each area, there are well-trained personnel who explain things or answer any questions you may have. I spent two hours exploring the exhibits and left completely amazed. I have to go back with family and friends to experience it again.

The Marine Corps Museum is beyond awesome! AND IT'S FREE...if it is not THE best museum that I've ever been to, it's at least tied. It feels like you are almost in a theme park. I strongly suggest planning to spend hours there...I wish we had planned on two half days because there is so much there that it is simply overwhelming. I highly recommend that all go that have a chance -- and whoever gave this less than 5 Stars is...

This place is filled with education and dedication! Definitely plan to be there at least 2 to 3 hours to see everything. The layout is perfect and you easily move from one section to another. Highly recommend checking this place out, it's free to get in!

This was probably one of the best museums we have been to and we've been to a lot. The kiddos loved it too with all the displays, hands-on activities, and play area. We also ate at Tun Tavern which was delicious! Overall it was a phenomenal experience!!!

As a Marine, visiting the National Museum of the Marine Corps was nothing short of incredible. The moment you walk in, the design of the building and the atmosphere make it clear that this is more than just a museum—it’s a tribute to our history, our sacrifices, and our brotherhood. The exhibits bring Marine Corps history to life in a way that words alone can’t capture. Mount Vernon earned its name due to its association with United States President George Washington. He lived in various times at this estate. It is basically an agriculture estate on a raised bank of Potomac River. The estate has a nice two storied building where George Washington lived with his family members. There is vast green all around. The property also has the tomb of George Washington. It can be a nice weekend tour. The facility has a museum to exhibit George Washington's stuffs like furniture, crockery, wardrobe etc. The museum and all other facilities are well designed, well maintained, and masterly curated. There are volunteers everywhere. There are guides, narrators, audio visual shows. There are adequate facilities for people with special needs. One needs to walk 2-3 miles at least to see all the exhibits.

My visit to Mount Vernon was truly inspiring 🇺🇸 I loved every part of it — the insightful exhibitions, the beautifully preserved estate, and especially the passionate guides who brought George Washington’s story to life. Walking through the house and gardens felt like stepping back in time. The attention to detail and the way history is shared here make it one of the most memorable visits I’ve had in the U.S. A place full of meaning, learning, and respect for the past. Highly recommended!

First and foremost I would like to thank the staff at the lost and found, someone recovered my necklace and returned it to lost and found and the staff here did everything they could after my girlfriend contacted them via email to ship the item back to me in a quick and timely matter and I really appreciate the staff here for that. Now this was an extremely amazing experience to see George Washington’s home and farm and to learn about his family and life and the slaves that he had working on the farm and seeing his tomb and seeing how beautiful his garden is and Maintained really well by the staff who works here. If you are in the area I would recommend visiting this place, the staff here are very friendly, helpful and it’s obvious they love their job.

We really enjoyed visiting here with our kids (ages 3 & 6). We’ve studied Washington with our schooling and seeing his favorite place really brought history alive. There’s something really amazing about standing on the back porch at Mt Vernon and enjoying the same view he loved standing where he probably stood. Even though the house tour is limited currently it was still worth doing and we highly recommend going. Learning about the way the house was built and how he worked the land was fascinating. Seeing his tomb was special. We went at the end of day and actually saw it with minimal people present. The guides were all helpful and very kind. We quickly visited the other burial grounds for the enslaved people as it was closing time. We appreciated that we could and they weren’t rushing us out.

A wonderfully presented piece of early US history. Although there are main house renovation works going on, it did not spoil the visit to this glorious spot. The volunteers - who are everywhere - keep you well informed of history and everything George Washington. Great food court, museum and shopping before you drive away.

The grounds and gardens are stunning. The house is undergoing major renovations and most of it was closed. However, there is plenty of information to be found among the grounds woth the self-guided audio tour! The Potomac River photo cruise was woth the $11

Perfect place to visit! Admission is free, and parking is only $15, which is very reasonable for what you get to experience. The museum has an incredible selection of aircraft and helicopters on display, including the legendary Blackbird, the historic Kitty Hawk, the unique Oblique Wing research aircraft, and even the iconic Concorde. Each exhibit is well-presented, and you can get up close to the planes, making it both educational and exciting. There are also plenty of interactive displays and informative signs that explain the history and technology behind each aircraft, which makes it engaging for both kids and adults. One of the highlights is the observation area, where you can sit and watch planes taking off and landing—it’s such a fascinating experience, especially for aviation enthusiasts. The museum is well-maintained, clean, and easy to navigate, with friendly staff available to answer questions. It’s a great place for families, history buffs, and anyone curious about flight. You can easily spend a few hours here exploring everything. A must-visit if you’re in the area!

What a cool place. I've been to the National Air and Space museum in DC, but it has been a while. Just recently found out about this place and I just assumed it wouldn't be at quite the same level as the one in DC. I was wrong. It has a great selection of planes, jets, and other aircraft organized by ear. Several nice practical learning activities too. All of this without the hassle of getting around in downtown DC. My only complaint is that I wish they had some aircraft that were accessible. We recently visited a very small regional airport with a museum and were able to board and explore nearly all of their planes. I definitely recommend a visit!

This is a must see for any air or space enthusiasts. It’s about an hours by subway and bus from downtown DC - but well worth the trip. Walk right up to the Space Shuttle and an SR71 and hundred of other planes. We had an incredible 87 year old docent named Joe who gave us a free 2 hour tour. Joe brought personal experiences and detailed knowledge to all the planes and exhibits. Amazing.

One of the finest Aviation museums out there. Many one of a kind surviving airframes. The WW2 collection is impressive including many important German Airplanes which are top notch restored. Whenever I fly out of Dulles International I make sure to spend my time in this Museum. Admission is free, parking for 15$ with plenty of parking space available. Will continue to visit, the exhibition is changing regularly.

Absolutely fantastic! The sheer size and scale of the museum can't be fully appreciated through a camera lens. Many iconic aircraft from TV and movies are on display in full scale—most notably the SR-71, Enola Gay, and the space shuttle Challenger. Admission is free, with a $15 parking fee that's well worth it.

Obviously a must see if you're visiting DC! I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty crowded but people were being very respectful and waiting for others to finish to take their pictures. When you get to the top you can see all the way down the National Mall which is great. Unfortunately the bookstore was closed due to the government shutdown, but still fun to check out!

A great place to honor our former president. You will never understand how big it is until to get to the bottom. The best time to visit is close to sunset when the sky is pretty and you can see the full reflection of the Washington monument with amazing colors in the sky. The addition of the ramp although blocks the view from the front, is a good addition for those with strollers.

The Lincoln Memorial is stunning especially at sunset. I didn’t realize how close all the monuments were to each other until I visited; everything is just a short, scenic walk away. As I made my way from the Thomas Jefferson or Washington Memorial to the Lincoln, I saw one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever experienced. The way the light hit the reflecting pool and the memorial itself was just perfect peaceful, powerful, and unforgettable.

What a wonderful experience it was to have visited this truly historical place and to learn about one of the greatest presidents of our time. Reading and Gettysburg address was like stepping back in time and in my opinion is the best speech every written. Please note that there is a lot of walking if you visit Washington DC so really good walking shoes are a must.

The Lincoln Memorial is truly inspiring. The architecture, the historical significance, and the peaceful atmosphere make it a must-visit in Washington, D.C. The view of the Reflecting Pool and Washington Monument is breathtaking, especially around sunset. The site is kept very clean, and there is plenty of space to sit, walk, and reflect. A beautiful and powerful reminder of American history.

The Lincoln Memorial is one of Washington, D.C.’s most recognized landmarks, honoring Abraham Lincoln with an impressive structure at the end of the National Mall. It connects easily to nearby attractions such as the Reflecting Pool, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and Korean War Veterans Memorial, making it convenient to include in a day of sightseeing. The memorial is open 24/7 and especially striking when illuminated at night. It can be crowded during peak hours, but the space remains respectful and accessible, offering good opportunities to take in the views and history.

It's interesting to read that this memorial was designed after a "healing wound." I think the architect did a good job at bringing that vision to reality. After taking in the Lincoln Memorial, we headed back east and came upon the site which is just off the north side of the Pool. The arrow-shaped memorial wall of smooth, dark, reflective gabbro rock starts at ground level then slopes ever so gently into the earth until its midpoint, where it then gradually rises back up to ground level, with a ton of names engraved along the way. A memorial directory is posted nearby to aide in finding names. Look for a small podium near the entrances/exits. Simple, striking, and beautiful.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. is one of the most visited and moving monuments in the United States, honoring those who served in the Vietnam War. It is located at National Mall, near the Lincoln Memorial,dedicated in November 13, 1982. It was designed by Maya Lin, a 21-year-old architecture student at Yale, it was controversy at the beginning, but became iconic. It honors members of the U.S. armed forces who fought in the Vietnam War, those who died in service, and those missing in action (MIA). The two black granite walls, each 246 feet 9 inches long, set in a V-shape, engraved with the names of over 58,000 servicemen and women who died or went missing. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a powerful and thoughtfully designed site in Washington, D.C. The black granite wall engraved with names creates a quiet, reflective atmosphere that encourages visitors to pause and remember. It is conveniently connected to other major sights on the National Mall and located very close to the Lincoln Memorial, making it easy to include in a day of exploring.

I found this memorial to be really cool on the evening that I went because they were doing an orange light awareness activity with lots of candles. I also really enjoy how you can see your image reflected in this memorial. If you are by the Lincoln memorial feel free to stop by this one as well!

There was a quiet reverence while walking through this area, it was deeply appreciated. I was there to find a name for my friend; her husband passed in Viet Nam. The volunteers were helpful and offered historical documentation about the Wall.

Very somber memorial to visit. It can get crowded but everyone is very respectful. Definitely visit if you're near the Lincoln Memorial.

Beautiful experience. I added 4 ☆ because they allow too many people into the museum at once. If you want to read you'll have to plan at least 3 hours ans be extremely patient with the crowds. There were many group tours with young adults yelling and running but some of those things are hard to control. Thank you for a beautiful experience and museum.

It's a place you might want to visit to understand how still WAR is invading out kindness, being deserted from your own house and being separated from your own family. How much hardship those traumatized souls had to go through and how sad they are! those who survived but feeling so helpless that we're not being able to control our problems and still ended up getting into the same WAR.

An incredible experience, the exhibits were thoughtfully planned giving a face to all who was effected. There were several school groups there but you could hear a pin drop as everyone was respectfully going through.

OMG!! This museum blew me away. Whomever curated this beautiful museum deserves an 👏🏾! From the interactive exhibits to being told that there were some persons working at the museum that survived the holocaust. Blown away!! Such an emotional experience.

I fell on my knees before coming inside, thought there would be a place to rest, but only a few places. There were some places to watch video where there were seats and at the end. Good place for history lovers that can stand for an hour. I'm glad I came, but it isn't a place for people with mobility issues.

Wow! What an amazing museum!!! We’ve visited it a few times over the years. Our whole family has always enjoyed it at all ages, little kids, teenagers, and adults alike. There’s hands-on activities for younger kids, and informative displays for adults. We watched a film display and the toddlers next to us found it just as engaging as we did. This museum really is truly great for all ages, and we have found it fascinating after each new visit. We spent 3 hours here, and didn’t even see every display. There’s so much to do and to look at. The staff were so friendly and well-informed. We really enjoyed chatting with them. I’m so happy that we were able to visit. My one piece of advice is to book the free timed-entry tickets as far in advance as possible so that you get the chance to enjoy this amazing experience!

Great museum! If you love aviation you will love this place! They have many airplanes from 747s to DC-3s to a wright flyer. They even have an x wing hanging from the roof! Tons of cool information, including about space flight and space craft. Only complaint is that part of the museum was closed for construction, but it's understandable because they have to renovate it at some point. Get tickets online in advance! Would highly recommend this place!

Great place for being solo, as a couple or family. You need to book your tickets online in advance as there are timed entries to enter. Amazing information, videos and models for explaining various aspects of space and flight travel. Will take about 1 to 2 hours to fully enjoy. Less crowded on weekdays versus weekends.

My visit to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. was absolutely incredible! Great museum. I didn't know that I can get the timed pass online, so I had to wait there for 15 minutes but that was not a problem for us. Incredible to see the real engines and rockets used for space exploration. My kids were 3,5 and 1,5.. they enjoyed the kids zone, but in general it is a must-go for older kids for inspiration.. we will definitely go again in future..

I went in late June and quite enjoyed my experience. If you are in the area, definitely visit. Unfortunately part of the museum was closed off and the lines were very long (but go incredibly fast). Gift shop is incredible. Exhibits are great, I liked the Northwest 747 the best. Definitely recommend checking out the Apollo Exhibit. I quite enjoyed my experience.

We love going to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History again and again. There is always so much to see, explore, and learn. One of the highlights for us was the African safari animals exhibit. The animals look so real that it feels like you're actually on a safari! It's exciting and fun for both kids and adults. My personal favorite part of the museum was the human evolution section. It was truly amazing to see how humans have changed and developed over thousands of years. The displays show how we’ve evolved from early humans to who we are today. It really makes you think about how far we’ve come as a species. The kids also had a great time exploring different sections of the museum. There are interactive exhibits and interesting facts everywhere you look, so it never feels boring. Such a beautiful park! I didn't know it was managed by the National Park Service. There is a $20.00 fee per vehicle to get in. It was well worth it! There is a visitor center, and a concession stand underneath it that sells ice cream and other treats. Lots of trails for walking. There is even areas for rock climbing, if you have the gear.

Beautiful park with stunning views of the falls! It’s a perfect spot for a short hike, photography, or just relaxing by the river. The trails are well-marked and easy to follow, and there are multiple overlooks to see the rushing water up close. Parking can get crowded on weekends, so it’s best to go early. Definitely worth the small entrance fee for such a peaceful and scenic escape so close to the city.

My 1St Time here. Upon arriving there is a parking fee per car. $20.00. Lots of parking and easy access to the visitor center the bathrooms and the various trails. However, I heard there are other areas where there is free parking. There are various trails you can take. The most scenic ones are by the Potomac River. There are 3x observation points. They are all great for views of the rapids. I would say the most challenging trail is the “River Trail” it has lots of treacherous rocky areas to overcome n climb. Follow the “blue “ painted markers on the trees to stay on track . This trail is obviously next to the river. If you want to get really close to the river there are various areas where u can climb down. They all require some effort of delegating the rocky areas. Go slow . I use a hiking poles as leverage. It helps. The easiest trail to walk or run on is the “Old Carriage Road”. The trail is quite long. I only accomplished 6.28M overall. About 3 hours. Which includes the stopping time for picture taking and resting to eat some fruit. The small restaurant offers burgers, pizza, hot dogs, ice cream and the largest warm salted pretzel I ever ate. Sorry I didn’t take the pic. It was good though. Enjoy the trail and the sites.

Had a wonderful experience there with my father it was very family friendly. The trails are are very clean also easily accessible from the parking lot. Mainly saw the first three overlooks and such and some of the trail requires some small level of rock climbing but nothing dangerous otherwise the walk around there has amazing veiws!! Paid $20 too get in i believe but was quite worth the money once you see the veiws!

Great Falls Park is a beautiful and easily accessible destination for a quick nature escape. The views of the falls are powerful and impressive, especially from the three main overlooks. Overlook 1 is the closest to the entrance, but the trail is uneven and not ideal for wheelchairs or small children. In contrast, Overlooks 2 and 3 offer excellent views and are much more accessible, with paved paths that accommodate wheelchairs and strollers. Well-marked trails, and ample parking make the experience even better.

Beautiful park especially if you get there early enough. Plenty of parking. Annual pass was better than one day pass. It is cheaper. We hiked a good amount of miles maybe around 4 miles. It was amazing the views were great many overlook but we came for the trail which was great it varies from the incline and regular paths. So be prepared if you want to hike it.

A wonderful day trip from the D.C. and surrounding areas if you want a nature escape with some stunning riverside scenery. Accessible viewpoints near the visitor centre offer great views of the falls and picnic tables to barbecue or spend time as a group at. You need to buy either a standard pass ($20 per car covering all passengers) or annual pass ($35) to enter, unless you have an ‘America the Beautiful’ pass. Would recommend doing so on nps.gov after checking if your target day is a free pass day.

THIS REVIEW WILL SAVE YOU MONEY. The park closes permanently in November. If you plan to go before it does, buy the standard ticket. I promise there is NO need to buy a fast pass of any kind as the park is mostly empty even on weekends. If you buy a single meal deal, there’s about a $4 cost savings if you order your meal and drink from Jonny Rockets ($28 regular and $24 with the meal deal ticket). My wife and I enjoyed the rides and the theme park, and we hope they build something similar there.

Pretty sad to see this place closing down. I surprisingly had a better time here than SFNE. I just thought that here, everything wasn't crammed into one little space like over there. Although, Six Flags New England has some nice buildings. Back to Six Flags America. It wasn't very crowded. On days where it's busy, the I'll expect the lines to be 2 hours each because these operations are BAD. There were only running one train on half of the coasters and it took them about 3 minutes to dispatch each train. They were only running on gondola on Voodoo Drop and it still took like 2 minutes. I hope their operations get better because this park is closing in less than a month. I did have a great time for my 4 hours there even though it rained (the reason why I only stayed there for 4 hours.) Come check this place out before closing on 11/2/25

I love this place! 🙃🥳My daughter & i will most certainly miss our home state amusement park. I been coming here since I was 9 in the "adventure world" to "wild world" days. I'm very sad to see Six Flags not invest in the park overall that much since 2000. However, what they added since are great flat ride additions. If it got its fair share of investment $ along the years since superman was added, I think it would still have survived the cutting board. What a shame😭 That being said, I hope everyone got their fun in by now. If not, this weekend will be the final hooray! I'm sure we'll be there getting our last kicks in, weather is looking good so far! ✌🏽😎

Despite the park closing permanently very soon, I had a great time here! All the Roller Coasters had no wait on a Sunday, and we got to ride them all a few times. Park was clean, and the shows were good. Operations were quite slow (granted it is closing soon, and no crowds) but still kind of annoying. All the roller coasters were quite fun, favorites being Superman: Ride Of Steel, Jokers Jinx, and Wild One.

I visited this park knowing about the coming closure in November. Overall, it was a good experience and I had some fun. The only downside to my experience was that three out of the eight roller coasters were closed that day. This is a big deal considering there aren’t that many to begin with. The crowds were not too bad and most of the coasters only ran one train. The park is nice and offers some cool places such as the new steam town. On the other hand, there are some areas that do not look well kept. The staff were friendly when running the rides. I would like to come back one day, however, because of the closure I would not return.

I know that this park is closing next month so I went one last time. I was disappointed that Superman: Ride of Steel, and Batwing was closed. I went on 6 rides and the wait time was 5 minutes or less. Ragin Cajun had a longer wait so I didn't go on that ride. I was going to ride Harley Quinn Spinsanity but they were having a problem getting the seat belts to lock so I got out of line. The rides that I went on were very rough. I didn't want to ride them again. I saw 3 shows and they were very good. It's sad that the park is closing but the roller-coasters need to be replaced.

My first time here was the last day the park was open. Kind of hard to believe they'd want to close that park. The grounds were clean, the staff was professional, I even saw a ride operator pick up a piece of trash off of the floor that a guest had dropped. Almost forgot it was a six flags park lol. It just feels like their corporate daddy is deciding to close the park because it's not a big money maker, but it's hard to believe it's losing them money. So much history and large part of people's lives and jobs gone because someone at the top wants to make a quick buck versus putting in the time and money to make it a truly great park. It's sad l and I hope this isn't a repeat of astroworld. Six flags just completed a merger last year with cedar fair so there's a bunch of parks that are close together. Closing this park was just getting rid of some "redundancy." I honestly expect to see more closings where there's another park close by over the next decade or so.

The park boasts numerous trails for hiking and trekking, ranging from short scenic walks to more intense climbs. A few favorites: • Maryland Heights Trail – Challenging but offers the best view over the town and rivers. • Jefferson Rock Trail – A short hike to a historic spot where Thomas Jefferson once stood. • Appalachian Trail – Yes, a section of this iconic trail runs right through the park! Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just want a light nature walk, there’s something for every level of adventure. Be ready for a lot of walking, especially up hills and along uneven paths. The historic charm comes with some elevation, but the views and the ambiance more than make up for the effort.

It was my first time visiting and it was absolutely gorgeous. We did the Maryland heights hike, its been on my bucket list and im so glad to have gotten it done! The weather was beautiful, the leaves are turning, and it was quite busy bit it was also a Saturday morning!

Walked in from the visits center because parking in lower town is not available and the bus doesn't allow dog's. The walk is so amazing, along the Shenandoah River and railroad. Once your in town it is super quaint and beautiful. Had a nice lunch and walked is back. The stone steps leading back up the side of the hill are no joke.

Great experience. Arrived with our RV and had ample parking. Hopped on a shuttle leaving you at the base of town. Cute little taverns and shops. Adorable town. Visited on a Sunday afternoon and sad that the church was locked up. Why not leave it open for those of us wanting to spend some time inside praying? Cute town.

Just go! If you haven't been yet, you need to get there. So beautiful. Easy trails. So scenic and peaceful. Plenty of parking. And there's a free shuttle to the village. Loved it.

This parks is a must in this area plus visiting the little downtown. There is so much history and amazing views that you can spend a day easily. We just want to return and do hiking and keep exploring the park. Thanks so much to the employees that even without receiving a paycheck are willing to keep working and are keeping the park in an outstanding shape. You are real heros!

Great experience exploring and walking around this National Park. Parking can be difficult and there are many hills and stairs to climb to get to various areas. Overall a beautiful and well maintained site with lots of historical information and visuals.

The grounds are well maintained, with a focus on historical alignment. The rangers are very knowledgeable. They easily answered all of my questions, even when I got into the weeds. The only negative was the artifacts are not on display (as of September 2025) due to roof leaks after a remodel. This is a place that should be visited at least once in an American's lifetime. Give yourself three hours if you have a casual interest in history. Allow yourself much more time if you have a strong interest. I spent seven hours, and could have easily spent a second day.

Not quite as beautiful as Gettysburg, but the history is just as good. Tons of signs... i just wish they provided more direction as to where things happened. "northeast" doesnt help me without some sort of compass or map. there is even a sign by the visitor center saying that the black signs don't help with storytelling unless you have a great understanding of this battle.... honestly though any other directional cues could easily resolve that. Some really pretty memorials here. some good stories. beautiful place to spend a few hours

Really a scenic and special area to visit if you are passing through. I was surprised with just how large the property was, it was full of trails and paths and history. It is a great place to explore or go on a walk. To see everything would take a few days, it is a massive area with a ton of monuments

Great place to visit, not large, you can easily cover it in 1-2 hours. Start at the visitor center and watch the film and look at the exhibits, the take a walk around the nearby monuments and even to the first stop, the Dunker Church. The rest is a driving tour where you can see old farms and where the woods and cornfield was. It's such a small area for so much bloodshed. A little farther on is the sunken lane and an observation tower, then a drive down to the lower bridge. Lots of trails extend from here and you can walk on trails all over the property.

A powerful and humbling experience. It’s hard to imagine the horrors that unfolded here, but Antietam National Battlefield does an incredible job helping visitors understand and follow the events of the battle. The driving tour is well laid out, with informative stops and breathtaking views that give you a real sense of the terrain and the stakes. Climbing the lookout towers is a must, the bird’s-eye perspective really helps put the entire battlefield into context. This is a place for reflection and respect. Thousands of soldiers lost their lives here, so while it’s tempting to take photos, please be mindful and keep the selfies to a minimum. An unforgettable visit, educational, emotional, and sobering.

A great park commemorating America’s bloodiest day. Monuments are everywhere commemorating the men who fought here and the commanders who fell. Walking and driving tours guide you through the sequence of the day’s events, and provide insight into how this famous battle unfolded. A national military cemetery sits on the edge of Sharpsburg, around which the battle was fought, and is the final resting place for Union soldiers.

Relics of the war of Independence can be witnessed with detailed scrolls and mentions. The entire drive through is very clean, picturesque and plenty of parking spots. You can park and go for a hike on the trail too.

Great source of information for existing downtown businesses and those seeking to move or open a new business in downtown Frederick. They provide support, advice, resources, and put on numerous events that drive traffic into the downtown area.

Frederick has a scenic downtown which is entirely walk-able, and my pictures will show the typical sights. Enjoy being there...lots of shops and places to eat.
