Llano Estacado Winery, Inc. stands out as Texas' largest and most celebrated premium winemaker, nestled in the heart of Lubbock. This working winery offers complimentary tours that provide an insightful glimpse into the fascinating world of High Plains wines. Visitors can explore the impressive facility filled with wooden aging casks and a bustling warehouse stocked with wine bottles ready for distribution.
My husband and I went by recommendation of a colleague and loved this place! The employee that poured our wine was so kind, and even took photos for us to commemorate our 4th anniversary! Beautiful place- especially at sunset! Highly recommend!

I highly recommend the tour and tasting. Matt was very knowledgeable and an awesome guide. Learned a lot about the wine making process. The tour group is limited to 14 people, so be sure to purchase your tickets early. The small size allowed for questions and in-depth discussion. The winery produces a variety of wines for any palate. Grace assisted us in the tasting room and helped with our order. We ended up purchasing a case.

We put on a wine run here and it was amazing!! Kaycee and her team were so great to work with! The vineyard was beautiful and finally the wine 🍷 was amazing!! Highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area. Plenty of outdoor seating to relax and enjoy the a drink or two! 😀

What happened to the old LLANO BLUSH??? The new Sweet Blush does not even come close. And it isn't just the labeling that's changed. I used to be able to put the old Blush out in tubs, and it would be gone by evening's end. Now nobody touches it. Find me some cases of the old Blush and I will give y'all 5 stars!!

We came on Saturday and had a pleasant experience. Our host was Dawson he was super awesome & knowledgable about the wines and wine making. We were in Lubbock for only a few days touring the city, we will definitely be back whenever we come into town.
Journey V — Google review
I just HAD to visit Llano wines because back in San Antonio I see them everywhere. I enjoyed a flight of mixed Llano wines. They were 4 stars. The host was more concerned about his shift ending soon, and didn't impart as much knowledge as I was hoping. He never gave his name.

I absolutely love this winery. Their wine and atmosphere are top notch. Their staff is fantastic and I love the events they put on!

This is a genuine Lubbock gem. The atmosphere, service, and (most importantly) wine are top notch. We enjoy every visit here as well as the wine club releases. Try the Tempranillo. You won’t be disappointed.
Britton D — Google review
Enjoyed the Peach 🍑 Brunch with great company . Thanks to Mario & Dana for the invite. Very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
YETI S — Google review
The place is really enjoyable. It has certainly its charm. They have their own brand of locally produced wines, and you can see they actually pay a lot of attention to the details. The place is about 15 min drive from Lubbock, and I will recommend to go during the season the summer/fall season, we’re everything is blooming and more lively. They have both indoors and outdoors areas, and even a private even room. They have limited options for Rose lovers, but they do have good wine selection, and an excellent Tempranillo. On the weekends the hold events, and live music which is very enjoyable. We asked about charcuterie boards to pair the wine, but since they had a food truck that day, it wasnt an option.
Alexandra G — Google review
The wine tasting is a glass at a time and we'll priced. They do have outdoor seating and are pet friendly. I'm a fan of their Italian red. If you are going for tempranillo, I was told that should be available in May. Pictured is the small charcuterie.

What a great place to come to bring your children, there are a lot of things to do here. We love the dinosaur 🦕 🦖 exhibit that is located on the main floor, the bottom floor has the teeth, rocks and some dinosaurs, not to mention the aquarium. We just love the aquarium exhibit, there are many fish 🐠 to look at. My son just enjoyed the train set that is located on the upper third floor, that train station has a lot of buildings. If you are looking to take your children somewhere fun to play, I recommend coming here.

I had a great time, its a awesome and fun place to take the family and if your looking to take a friend. The price to get in is great and the atmosphere is nice. Also do they have a dome theater where you can watch cave adventures really epic and fun.

We had so much fun especially at critter fest! We watched a movie, pet some cows and elephants then explored the rest of the spectrum! My little sister even got to hold a baby lemur! 10/10

We went on a Wednesday while passing through Lubbock. We took our three year olds & they really enjoyed themselves. For one adult & one 3 year old it was $18. Definitely a lot to do, can be overwhelming for some kids. Our girls loved watching all the fish.
Shevon H — Google review
If you have younger kids (10 or under) I’m sure it’s fun for them. I took my daughter that is 13 and she was so excited to go back after going many years ago…. but it was really disappointing compared to when we went around 2019. There were a lot of items that weren’t working at all or “kind of” working. If you have younger kids and you’re already in the area, it’s not prohibitively expensive so it’s probably worth going. But if you’re spending a couple of hours to drive there…. I definitely wouldn’t recommend doing that. Also, I’m not even a germaphobe in the slightest but everything you touch there is SO sticky and I would have expected more hand sanitizer spots around the building. I only saw one for the hour and a half we were there.
Brandon B — Google review
We had a fantastic time. Spent about 2 hours with my family while my grandson played and learned how gravity works.

Yellow House Theatre: Lubbock's Community Theatre

Mentioned on
1 list

Concerts & Shows
The theatre at Lubbock Community Theatre is easily accessible with ample parking. While the lobby is slightly small, it doesn't hinder the process of giving tickets to the ticket taker. The mezzanine area provides comfortable couches for waiting before entering the theatre. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The spacious seating arrangement allows for easy movement throughout different levels. With an intimate audience capacity of about 50 people, the atmosphere becomes more personal.
Easy to find the theatre. Parking is ample. Lobby is a bit small and it was a tad tight when giving our tickets to the person taking the tickets. “Mezzanine” area had comfy couches for when waiting to enter the theatre. Staff is very friendly. Theatre seats are spacious. Seats are on levels that are easy to walk up and down. Audience seats about 50 people, so the atmosphere is intimate. The actors are PHENOMENAL! We saw a very funny show the night we went. The set is very minimalist, so the players and acting really shine. Highly recommend Lubbock Community Theatre!
Patrice F — Google review
I have seen several plays, You Can't Take it With You. It Was very good!!! This was the best Play I have seen there. It had you laughing and mad at the actor within 2 minutes of each other. There was an awkward silence spread throughout the play.

LCT is a gem. Every production is amazing. Such a talented cast with vocal performance, stage presence, dance, directing, and production. Your won't be disappointed!
Ed S — Google review
I cant speak about the performers, but I walked in and the staff was not friendly at all. Your staff are the first faces to be seen, they should be friendly, warm, and welcoming to anyone that steps foot in your doors.
Olivia E — Google review
What a great outfit for folks of all ages to join and have a great time. The kids we saw performing the other day put a lot of time and effort into practice and preparation. This is wonderful for the community at large, highly recommend everyone come out and support!

Great place to see the local talent perform. The facilities are older but nice and well kept. We enjoy watching shows here.
Paul M — Google review
My wife and I went and saw Little Shop of Horrors earlier this year and enjoyed it so much we bought season tickets for this season and it was one of the best decisions we made. We have also seen Sponge Bob The Musical and The Rocky Horror Picture Show Shadow Cast. The actors really put everything into their performances and the sets are always creative. We have never been disappointed. The audience is small and the space is great for them to put on an excellent show. We always are looking forward to the next performance. If you get a chance to go, far any of their shows, do not hesitate. You won't regret it.
Chance R — Google review
I have been with Horizon for quite a while, and I have loved every single moment of it. The people are so incredibly talented and amazing and very hard working. Doing shows with everyone if by FAR the BEST things you could ever wish for. ❤️

Playgrounds
Legacy Play Village is a 30,000-sq.-ft. wooden play area located in McAllister Park, built by volunteers and funded by the local community. It was opened in 2001 as a beautification project by the Junior League of Lubbock and offers an engaging way for children to learn about the South Plains through activities and educational programs. The three-story wooden playground provides learning experiences for children.
There is not a wooden house currently, perhaps it is down for the season. There is a nice path though and restrooms.
Leah S — Google review
Just saw the other day that this park is closed for safety and repairs. I think it's time to tear it down and build something new. I think this would have been a great playground 15 years ago, but it needs work. The boards are coming undone and there are nails sticking out for kids to get caught on. I think there are safety issues here, but hey, I'm just a parent. The trash is another issue, and this place needs a cleanup, big time.
Brian W — Google review
Wonderful idea and I'm sure was a 5 star years ago. A great place ruined by lack of attention and maintenance. Exposed nails, rotting wood, trash everywhere. I know they did a lot over the summer, but a new plan is needed. Unsafe play conditions
Ryan T — Google review
This is a great place for kids. My only concern is that even with the recent repairs, some issues still need to be addressed. For some reason there are openings in the fences. This could lead to a child leaving on their own or with someone else, and if parents are watching the main entrance, they will never know. Also, the "Music" area has no tools to allow kids to actually make sounds.
Raymond S — Google review
Coolest park ever. Plenty of shade. Once they fix up the gaps in the surrounding fence, I would feel more secure letting my kids out of my sight. They do have a sign stating they have plans to fix the place up as it is due. Regardless, this place is awesome.
Sarah M — Google review
Really superb playground design, or at least it was in 2002 when it opened. It still is awesome, but it's a shame the community isn't taking better care of it. Litter everywhere. Graffiti that needs attention. Exposed nails and lose boards. Broken musical instruments need mending. This playground and the kids drawn to it deserves better. United Supermarket should organize a monthly, or weekly, park clean up. Don't let this great playground fall to ruin.
Ken B — Google review
. Update: . »»-----♥------› Legacy Play Village is getting a face-lift! They're repairing and improving the park for the next generation of children, hopefully without straying too far from the original design that we all know and love. Thank you, Volunteers and the City of Lubbock for listening and responding! They hope to reopen in spring or summer of 2019... I can't wait! I was a teenager when this place was finished in 2002 and loved to come here. Now that I'm an adult, my kids love it here. A word to the wise, if you don't know where you're going in the castle, it's easy to get turned around.
Christa M — Google review
I'm giving it two starts simply for the condition of the playground equipment. Complete sections of wood panels are missing. On any given day you will see children on top of the two story castle. The city doesn't seem to care either

If you're planning a trip to Lubbock, Texas, make sure to carve out some time for the Antique Mall of Lubbock. This hidden gem is a treasure trove that invites both locals and visitors on an enchanting journey through history. Since its inception in 1985, it has become a beloved destination for antique enthusiasts and casual shoppers alike.
This is a little slice of heaven right here in Lubbock Texas. The LARGEST antique mall you will ever see with pricing so fair. There is a little bit of everything including a big smile greeting you as you enter and exit. I told the owner I could spend all day in there and mean it, plan to spend HOURS. This is a great date spot or give yourself a budget and have a challenge with friends who finds the coolest thing. I cannot wait to go back.
Kylla S — Google review
What an amazing experience!!! Staff is friendly, professional, and helpful. I had a few questions about a piece I had purchased previously, Billy & Richard were so kind to help me. I bought some more fairy lamps. I’ll be back soon.
Tori A — Google review
My family loves going here to see all the antiques available here. The sheer size of this place and the amount and variety of items is truly astounding. I have never seen another antique store half this size. The prices are good and the people that work here are very help and nice. I have been visiting this place periodically for a few years now and I will continue to do so as long as they are open.

Looks can be deceiving. When I first arrived and saw the front of the store, I thought, "This is a small shop and it won't take long to go through it." WOW! I was wrong about that. It is an amazing antique shop! Just when I thought I was at the end of the booths, it made a jag and went on...! I found several treasures that I purchased.

Best antique mall for miles and miles in all directions!! Was in town for a wedding and came in and got tons of great things for great prices. Came back before leaving town and spent even more the second go round! This will definitely be a can’t miss destination every time I’m in Lubbock.

A great shop! We have been here a few times over the years. Recently I had another great experience. They were able to quickly fix a diamond setting during my lunch break for free. The best thing about this local shop....their donation jar. Every month is a new organization club or charity they raise money for that serves Lea County. If you go in make sure to throw a dollar in their bucket!
Callie P — Google review
These guys are wonderful! I find them very friendly and knowledgeable! They've been taking care of a Marine Corp watch belonging to someone very dear to me for years since he passed away in service to our country. I used to expect to drop it off, but they always offer to work on it right then. They've never charged me to work on it, but they allow me to donate to their charity of the month as payment instead. They've got a neat little shop, and they also enjoy when I bring my toddler in, which is unusual for a jewellery shop. They're the only ones I trust with this watch, and I recommend them for any jewellery needs you might have!

Great folks here! Very knowledgeable and pleasure to speak with. They adjusted my watch in a jiffy and had a great conversation about mechanical watch movements. I had a great experience and learned something new. Thanks Jerb's!

Tami, was truly amazing. It had been a couple months since my last massage and I left feeling extremely better. Thanks for the best massage I've ever had!
Michael H — Google review
After numerous attempts to schedule a paid message, she never got back to me. The only reason I got in was because someone she knows personally called her from his cell phone and scheduled for me. She offered to make things right by giving me a 30 min free massage and after appt was booked and I knocked at her locked door while her SUV sat outside she never answered! Poor service! Too bad I can't zero or negative star her.

Tia Juana's Mexican Grille & Cantina

We are in town with our belgian malinois. The owner sat us at a table outside and even gave our dog some water. The food and service were excellent. My husband and I both had the Tia Juana's steak with Chipotle sauce and calbacitas. All cooked perfectly. Would definitely come back the next time we are in town.

SLOW...SLOW...SLOW.. Wasn't a very busy night when we came here. Food took a little bit to get, didn't get our drinks till AFTER we got our food. Ordered beer and margaritas, ended up canceling the margaritas because we finished our food and no longer wanted to wait to get them. I cannot understand why the food didn't take long but drinks are difficult to get.. Food was good, excellent carnitas and charro beans. Beer was not cold, wish I knew what their margarita tasted like. I won't be back....what a shame, go next door to Habenero.

Food is good just can’t keep good help always have to wait on tables even when half empty
Chuck C — Google review
This was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. Even though the restaurant wasn’t very busy, we waited quite a while just to be seated. We figured they might be short-staffed and tried to be understanding, but things didn’t get any better from there. When our food came out, we were told they had run out of silverware—which felt strange and a bit unsettling. Our food was cold. We let them know, and they took it back, but it was returned still cold. At that point, we just sent it back for good and didn’t want it. This place has clearly gone downhill. Poor service, poorly managed, and completely disappointing. We won’t be back—and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Kendra G — Google review
The manager-Chase, is a condescending manager. He wouldn’t help us and claims that he packed our food but didn’t feel that it was ice cold or half filled. He also didn’t check to make sure it was all cooked correctly. Never in my many years of ordering did I have this bad of an experience with this restaurant or with managers. Chase was real quick to blame the delivery driver from delivery.com. But no it was not their fault, it was his. What a horrible manager.

This was our first time eating here and sadly it was our last. We had came in around noon. The restaurant was empty that should have been a red flag right away. My fiancé had gotten the "Red cheese enchiladas". I had the "Juanas enchilada" plate. My fiancé's daughter had the Fish tacos. My fiance said the enchilada he got were good. Nothing fancy nothing bad. One of my enchiladas, the chicken was not good, I had one bite it had a rancid taste, I left it on the plate. I should have gone with cheese like my fiancé. The service was good very attentive waitresses. But the food needs a big upgrade, I'm sure the only thing here that's a deal are the drinks.
Nora M — Google review
Food had very little flavor, most of it tasted like it came out of a can. My husband ordered a burger and had no condiments on it the burger was well done but was extremely dry. I know it claims to be a Mexican grill but has no authentic flavor.
Yesenia E — Google review
Awesome service, and amazing food. Server was on point, and kept the drinks fresh. Food was cooked correctly. Served hot, and delicious. Update: 6 Aug, 2022. One star! Went in and waited approximately 10 minutes to be seated (party of 5). Once seated, no silverware on the table or brought by the server. Service was slow on the drinks as well. Food portions seemed small, from the last time we'd eaten there. Food was warm and acceptable, except for the order of jalapenos toreados (roasted jalapenos). They were 2 small jalapenos that were roasted into oblivion. We had asked for refills on the chips, never got them. We asked for a cup of guacamole. They were out. All in all... I was disappointed this time around with the quality of service and quantity of food.

Cool museum in the thriving city of Hobbs. Tons of local history both pre Spanish invasion to full-on Spanish takeover of the indigenous population. Vast areas are dedicated to chocolate.. Lots of chocolate.. They even have samples at the front desk! The pharmacy desk and piano area had a strange energy to it.. like someone is watching you. Other than that, it was a clean energy throughout the exhibits. We really enjoyed walking around and reading the history... Prices are reasonable. Military is FREE!! If you lost your shirt @ the Casino? Drop by and check this museum out.. Plotted..Scouts Out...

Very spacious and well kept facility, the staff is friendly and the place is so warm and welcoming. We went to the family fun event they held for kids. Christmas hand made crafts and free movie was so much fun and entertaining! They have activities loved to until Christmas which is really amazing and with looking forward to!

Interesting exhibits that change quarterly. They are great for the kids because many items are hands-on for them to help them learn. Their gifts are quality products that are reasonably priced. Landscaping and bronzed animals are great. The East wall has been tastefully done to honor the people of our area. I also like the interactive cowboy. Great way to engage everyone.

Title: Great Stay – Exceeded Expectations! Review: I recently stayed at Zia Park Casino Hotel and I honestly had a wonderful experience. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and I really enjoyed the resort had to offer. I know every place has its ups and downs, but I personally had a great time—especially at the casino. They do need to fix the issues with the games. I had several machines that would read my card or take my money. Other than that had a great time. Looking forward to returning in the future!
Amy L — Google review
I arrived excited, feeling ready to gamble, drink and hell even get a room. The night was young and so am I. Parking was decent even though it was packed. Guys who checked my ID had the same Birthday as me! He was cool . Me and my bestie strolled through the casino first to peep the scene. I get halfway through the place and I decided I’m hungry and we can return to gamble. I didn’t realize there was a steakhouse until it was almost 10pm which is when they close. If I had seen the steakhouse, I probably would’ve went there first and maybe the bar after. But henceforth, 2 beautiful women sit at a bar and get passed over for service 3 times. Allow me to elaborate. The team behind the bar catered to regulars and not all customers. It’s unfortunate because as a former server, I’m an incredible tipper. I even asked the guy next to me to verify that my friend and I were so blatantly ignored. I was just damn thirsty and asked for a water upon arrival. Nearly 30 minutes later. I got that water. I put in an order for some cheesy Sticks, a round of drinks and water. The bread took a while, but was really DELICIOUS . Had pesto on. It came with ranch and I nearly finished the thing by myself. I wish to think the chef in the back with the brick oven making the magic happen. The manager stopped by and chatted with me and my friend for a bit. She didn’t care about our experience but wanted to talk. She could’ve had jumped behind the bar to help out, but whatever. It wasn’t the vibe so I hung around a little bit longer and left before midnight. I was up for anything, but maybe next time Zia Park.

I had a blast. My best friend and I made a day trip just to relax. The Casino is laid back, so I received much needed relaxation by leaving my stress at home. Oh, the best part? I came home with a nice pocket full of cash.

This casino may be small but it has a great atmosphere The place is comfortable, and well taken care of. The machines are fun to play and the dealers are super nice and helpful. Good spot for a fun laid back night out

Hotel: The beds and pillows were not comfortable. AC in the room barely worked. The breakfast is worse than any hotel we have stayed at. No hot items served at all. Once we signed up for the rewards program, staff refused to add the hotel stay to our account. Stating you must book it through the rewards app for any credit. Recommend saving your money for the casino and staying at any other hotel down the road. There was a super friendly staff member cleaning the lobby on our way out, seriously the only friendly encounter in the hotel area! She was great! Casino: No alcohol allowed in the casino, have to stay in their bar with drinks. AC not working toward the back of the casino so it was really hot in some areas. Staff was very friendly and helpful through out.
Rachel F — Google review
The past couple of times within 6 months has been horrible. The a/c in the casino was not working properly at both visits 1 month apart. I asked an employee why it was so hot and was told the management was waiting on bids. The self serve soda fountain was out of order. And the other 2 soda fountains were out of ice. It was so hot and smoky in the casino that I just went to my room. The room smelled of raw sewage. The bathtub had hair in it and the floor was sticky. I will not be back until the issues at this casino are fixed. It has to be the worst casino and hotel in the area.
Denise W — Google review
This was a disappointing experience...if I could do negative stars I would. If you do not live in Hobbs and are a regular to the establishment get ready to be treated like you do NOT belong there. I will start by saying the Hotel staff were AMAZING! They were very accommodating and welcoming. However the Casino/Bar side was very UNWELCOMING...RUDE and basically made it an experience from HELL. They lost hundreds of dollars from us over $15...they were very harassing and made me feel so uncomfortable. I was in tears...discrimination doesn't even do justice to how we were treated. So BEWARE if you are an out of towner!!!! This will not be my only complaint...but it will be a way to warn others.
Kori C — Google review
My sister and myself was at the Casino today and in our 71 and 73 years we have never been treated so rudely and discriminated against than today we have been going to Zia Park Casino since it's opening. We were playing slots side by side my sister had to go to the restroom and wanted me to save her machine while she went to the restroom I decided to put 100.00 in the machine to be sure she could continue playing when she returned 10 or 15 minutes later a casino staff member tapped me and informed me I could not do that so I called her to see how much longer she would take she said she was on her way back, unbeknownst to me someone else was wanting her machine because we were hitting in both machines. I was told later I could have turned the chair down and save it like so me people have done just not played it, we were swarmed by 5 or 6 staff keep in mind this is 2 elderly ladies, We were told after much talking and a review of the video we had to cash out because I was playing 2 machines and we were to leave the Casino and were not welcomed back. Said we were banned from the property. We are pretty sure the staff knew the lady wanting our machines.

We actually saw Poor Boy's on US-380 (Broadway through Tatum) on the way to Roswell, NM, but stopped on our way back. Juan is the Da Vinci of metal art, as can be verified by the number of ranches, towns, and businesses in the surrounding area that proudly display his work on gates and entrances. He's a nice guy, very personable, and very talented with a torch. If he doesn't have what you want, see if he can make it. After being underwhelmed by Roswell (apparently you need to go when there is an alien festival), Poor Boy's was a highlight! We left with an alien and UFO to add to our backyard metal art garden. Great to meet you Juan and love the truck!

Bottomless Lakes State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
Park features several sinkhole-formed lakes with water sport activities, plus hiking trails.
We called to see what the chances were there was a spot open for just one night. We got lucky and were pleasantly surprised by this cute tucked away spot. A very desert appeal with a beautiful natural lake against the red rock cliffs. A great family swimming hole and we’ll walk the short mile hike this morning.
Marsha G — Google review
It's a place that looks beautiful from a distance, but when you get there, it's not. Entrance costs $10 per car, whether you're entering or leaving. The sand is muddy, and the water is still flowing. I don't recommend swimming. If you're going to barbecue, I recommend getting up early. I think it's the only place within a 100-mile radius that the locals have to enjoy.

We went during the week on a Tuesday. It was empty for the most part. Very pleasant and quiet. We picked a shaded picnic area and spent 4 hrs just enjoying the scenery and cool water of Lea lake. It was a 90° day but the breeze was perfect! Amazing geology!

My family and I had a wonderful time camping here! We stayed in a tent at the campground and really enjoyed how spacious it was. We booked a site with electric and water hookups, plus our spot included a picnic table and some nice shade. The restroom and shower facilities were clean and the showers had good pressure and plenty of hot water, which was soothing after a long day outdoors. During our stay, the campground was peaceful, with everyone keeping to themselves and no noisy campers around. The only odd thing was that someone (likely a park employee) decided to use a leaf blower at 5am, circling the park and waking everyone up. That was definitely unexpected! Other than that, the park itself is absolutely beautiful and full of scenic trails, rocky canyons, and great photo opportunities for anyone who loves nature and wildlife. The lakes are clear and refreshing, with designated swimming areas. We also saw park rangers making their rounds, keeping everything in check, which made us feel safe. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend visiting or camping here, especially in the Fall season.

This was a nice, quiet park to stay in while we visited the Roswell area. There is a Camp Host, and Bathrooms were attended to daily. Each site had a standing charcoal grill just outside of a covered picnic table. There was a nice boardwalk across the street, and the lake/ beach were empty (we stayed during the week M-W) Also, there was dispersed camping outside of the Lea Lake Campground, near the Visitor Center. We did not go into the visitor center though! A good place to stay for travelers needing some rest :)
A L — Google review
It may have been due to visiting near the end of the season, but the area appeared somewhat run-down. Several buildings had broken windows, and both the restroom and play area were infested with wasps. The highlight of the visit was the beautiful view of the lake framed by striking red cliffs. We also discovered another lake within the park; however, it was mostly dried up and had a noticeable sulfur odor.
Travis D — Google review

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Huge, mellow wildlife refuge with plenty of rare birds & other animals plus unique landscapes.
Very scenic place to come and enjoy some peace and quiet and to slow down and look around at what's around you. There's a 6 mile loop that you can drive thru and along the way there's multiple place to stop with some trails and lookouts. There's also trails near the entrance, like the butterfly trail, which I thought were great. I also saw lots of different kinds of birds throughout the reserve. It's not a busy place, so you can really take your time and enjoy yourself.

Beautiful grounds with many species of birds, flowers and wildlife. Visitor Center movie is very helpful to ID birds and critters. It was stormy so only stayed near VC. But did walk the Butterfly Trail. Some steps but not too strenuous.

This is a hidden gem.in Roswell. Beautifully maintained with a long driving loop with various stops along the route. We saw many different types of birds while we were there. Be sure to.bring your binoculars!
Joe N — Google review
Our old and outdated GPS took us to an entrance that was closed. That’s nobody’s fault, but when we called the number on the sign, we were told we had to backtrack all the way to Roswell, which was ridiculous. We found our own way to the correct entrance, pulled up to the visitor center, but couldn’t go in as there was a large rattlesnake blocking the door. This was the theme of our visit. Every pull off and scenic view was occupied by at least one rattlesnake and a ton of mosquitoes. We couldn’t get out of the car save for one area. I’m guessing this is a time of year thing and we should have done better research but nothing I saw mentioned an abundance of rattlesnakes in early August. At least the visitor center was actually open, whether anyone could get to the doors or not.

What a beautiful natural area! So much peace and quiet and bird life on the waters! This is a great place for a picnic, a hike, or just some meditation time! The visitor center is absolutely stunning inside and out, and the guide is very friendly and helpful. We got to see a resting owl in the eastern viewing area and baby swallows that had left the nest and were waiting for their mom. This isntruly a beautiful quiet place, and we are glad to come here once in a while for nature photography and a nice picnic.
