Nature & Wildlife Areas
Nestled in the heart of Cape Coral, the Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve spans an impressive 356 acres of lush wetlands and mangrove forests. This serene haven is a paradise for nature enthusiasts, offering a scenic 1.2-mile boardwalk that meanders through diverse habitats teeming with wildlife. Bird watchers will delight in spotting eagles, herons, and various migratory species as they traverse the well-maintained trails.
Nice boardwalk path through the mangroves. I went on a cool morning in April. Most of the walk was shaded by the mangrove trees. It was a fairly long walk with benches along the path if you need to rest. The board walk leads to two piers that reach out over the Caloosahatchee River. Nice walk.

Just over the midpoint bridge heading into Cape Coral on the right hand side is this Incredible Veteran's Memorial Park inside Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve. You can have a picnic lunch or bring a fishing pole & make a day of it with friends. So much to explore including a beautiful Catwalk to bird watch & sightsee. An adventure for everyone to enjoy.
Brandy B — Google review
It has a nice nature trail boardwalk throughout the mangroves and marshes. We saw what we think were otter tracks, but otherwise we didn't really see much as far as wildlife. There's plenty of parking, decent bathrooms, and the Veterans park right at the entrance. Overall, it's a cool little park to meander around in.
S. Z — Google review
Such a beautiful place to disconnect and enjoy nature. The boardwalk through the mangroves was peaceful, and I saw several beautiful birds. Everything is well maintained and admission is free. At the end, there’s a scenic lookout over the water with truly spectacular views. A perfect spot for a quiet walk. I’ll definitely be back
Leandro S — Google review
I love it here the air feels cleaner, not to hot when walking inside the park. I do think the city should organizing a cleanup to pick up all the dead palm fronds that’s is piling up to give new plants and mangroves to be able to thrive. Plus it make the park look nicer and to show the city cares. Other the. That good park I notes bathroom has been upgrade.
John M — Google review
This was a relaxing short walk around the boardwalk. We went early in the morning and saw a few locals (wildlife). You can also go fishing at one of their piers. It's also a memorial for those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Freedom is NOT free!
Nelson M — Google review
Nice quiet space to walk- there was a lot of mosquitoes there. We were so happy to see a dolphin swimming around. There is also a lot of herbs/medicinal plants there as well.
Lady B — Google review
What a beautiful place to visit. Very well preserved. Would recommend to bring bug spray. The walk is not strenuous but it is long so a good pair of walking shoes is also recommended. The bathrooms were clean and private.

Sun Splash Family Waterpark

Water & Amusement Parks
Amusement park
Sun Splash Family Waterpark is the ultimate destination for family fun in southwest Florida. With over 14 acres of water attractions, this seasonal amusement park offers something for everyone. From thrilling waterslides like Cape Fear and Fun-L-Tunnel to a relaxing lazy river and kids' water play area, there's no shortage of entertainment. Whether you're seeking an adrenaline rush or a leisurely float down the Mainstream River Tube ride, Sun Splash has it all.
We love SunSplash and its because it’s small enough to feel safe in letting your kiddos explore and big enough to make a memorable day. We love to float around the lazy river which allows us, as parents to keep checking in with our eldest while having fun with our youngest who can’t go on all of the slides. It really has a little something for everyone and the new wave pool is a great addition! We highly recommend!
Kelsie G — Google review
I recently visited Sunsplash Family Waterpark, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. We arrived on a Saturday morning, a bit after 11 AM, and even though we had purchased our tickets in advance, we still had to wait in a long ticket line just to get our wristbands. The line stretched out into the parking lot with no shade, and once we finally got our wristbands, we had to wait in yet another equally long line to enter the park. The entire process took about 45 minutes. Only two out of four ticket booths were open, and there was just one person checking bags at the entrance, creating more delays. Once inside, we found no available spots to leave our belongings unless we rented a locker, which meant standing in yet another line. The Lazy River was another disappointment. The water was so cloudy that we couldn’t see through it, and it left my skin feeling itchy afterward. Plus, most of the inner tubes were either flat or unavailable unless you paid extra for a VIP rental. The wave pool that was supposed to be open mid June was still closed as well. We also encountered issues with the food service. The lines were confusing, and we waited 45 minutes for our food, which turned out to be disappointing in quality. My son’s pizza was inedible, and my chicken wrap was lackluster. The drink options were limited to soda, which didn’t suit everyone in our group. On a slightly positive note, the lifeguards were quick to respond when a kid needed help, though as a former lifeguard myself, I felt they could have followed protocol better. Overall, the day was filled with long waits and disappointments, and I wouldn’t recommend visiting unless some serious improvements are made.
Kelsie G — Google review
We had a fun time at this water park on a beautiful sunny afternoon in August. The staff are friendly and professional. They have slides for all levels and ages. Life vests for non swimmers. We experienced the mini wave pool which was great for an intro to duck diving under the waves for the little ones. I managed to snap a few photos on the way out! Worth the trip and I give it a thumbs up!
Christine M — Google review
This was a nice water park. Only thing was the service was very very slow and there was not enough tubes to go down the lazy river. Other than that, as long as you get here early you can enjoy so fun with your kids. About 130 ish it starts to get very packed.
Jessica L — Google review
Such a great day! The slides were exciting, the wave pool was a blast, and the kids had a fantastic time. Everything felt safe and well-maintained. Perfect place to beat the heat and make some fun memories! Season pass is the way to go!!
Amber F — Google review
We went here for the first time last Saturday. We were able to get a 4-Pack Groupon. What can I say? We had a BLAST!!! My wife said that she wouldn't mind getting a membership here! We specifically enjoyed the Body slides and the Wave Pool! It was a REALLY fun time! Cant believe it took us this long to go!!!! But we'll FOR SURE be back!
Paul M — Google review
This is a great place to have fun as a family. The best ticket is the best deal, which includes a combo meal and unlimited fountain beverages all day. They have a variety of slides and a pool for children of all ages, including babies ( kids 2 years and under are free). There are a lot of tables and chairs provided for eating your lunches. The food is delicious, except for the pizza 😫, their waffle fries were served fresh, hot, and nicely. I would recommend the chicken wrap combo. The staff are very attentive, especially the lifeguards. There are 2 to 4 lifeguards at each pool safety is their number one priority.
Santina M — Google review
Great place but small for the amount of people that attend. They make you wait for tubes, which literally can take an hour if you need a tube for a particular water slide. Lunch / concession stand took 45 minutes for a $30 pizza and French fries, everyone in line was pretty aggravated about the wait and people were growing impatient. Other than that, they have great slides and features, just dont go on a Saturday like we did....big mistake.

Wicked Dolphin Distillery

Mentioned on

Distillery
Food & Drink
The Wicked Dolphin Rum Distillery, also known as Cape Spirits Inc., is a popular destination for rum enthusiasts and tourists alike. The distillery offers comprehensive tours that provide insight into the entire rum-making process, from flavor conception to distillation. Visitors can explore the on-site plant and learn about ingredient sourcing, cooking, fermentation, and distillation from knowledgeable guides. After the tour, guests can indulge in a rum tasting experience featuring a variety of rums, including experimental blends.
We've been on distillery tours...bourbon tours. Not being a bourbon fan, I enjoy those tours for the history and the "art" of bottle and label design, but never the tasting. With this tour I enjoyed it ALL, especially the tasting...and the "touring cocktail". I learned a lot, too. Like, there is a distinct difference between the making of bourbon and rum. Take the tour to learn what that is. Our tour was approximately 45 minutes, ending back in the gift shop for the sampling. We made reservations for the 1 PM tour but arrived early and were able to be included in the noon tour. I don't think we had to pay for the tour. Our touring cocktail was "Wicked Punch" (Coconut Rum, Crystal Rum, Lime Juice, Pineapple Juice, Cranberry Juice, and Ice). It was delicious, and the best way to get us "into" the tour. Check the website for many more recipes. Two of the three sampling flavors were pineapple and key lime. I forgot the third. I enjoyed all three. I wanted to buy several bottles but we were flying and already had full suitcases. They do sell travel bags and provide instructions on how to pack the bottles in suitcases. For my next Florida trip, I'm driving, not flying, and saving lots of trunk space for some flavored rum bottles. The full size rum bottles do need to go in check bags when flying, but Wicked Dolphin does sell small bottles that can be placed in carry-on luggage. The catch is that they are only sold in sets of eight. You can choose any combination of flavors but in groups of eight. The gift shop is full of a wide variety of souvenirs, in addition to their distilled products. It's fun browsing. The staff were friendly and helpful, and really seemed to enjoy their jobs. Outside is a nice sitting area, where you can either wait for your tour to begin or enjoy a drink after the tour. In the evenings they have events that are listed on their website, which can include live music and food trucks. We had other plans, so were not able to enjoy such an event. I highly encourage you to stop by if you're in the Cape Coral area. (The attached photos were taken during the tour. Most of the pics are in the order of the distillation process. The barrels and flavoring pics are at the end of the tour, but they were the first things I saw as I waited to use one of the two restrooms, located in the barrel room. That's why they are a bit out of order.)

The free rum tasting was great fun. Everyone was incredibly friendly. The different types of rum taste great and we bought some. It's worth a visit, also after the tasting again to the Tiki Bar with live music
Peter P — Google review
A real gem of a place to visit. I was driving so could only enjoy tasting the sauces on offer whilst the rest of my party enjoyed tasting the Rum on offer. The host was knowledgeable and very friendly. The merchandise was also really impressive; taking home a couple of wooden decorations for our Christmas tree. Great experience...and that was not even on the tour...can't sing the praises of this place enough; now home in the UK and suppin' some banana wicked dolphin rum! ❤️

Absolutely must to do if you are in Cape Coral! Wonderful experience and plenty to taste.Friendliest team and tastiest rum in Florida!cheers 🍹
Vilma — Google review
Wicked Dolphin Rum Distillery is a must-visit gem in Cape Coral! The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, making the tour both fun and informative. The handcrafted rum is absolutely delicious, with flavors that are unique and expertly blended. Sampling the rum during the tasting session was a highlight—each one had a distinct character and richness. The atmosphere is welcoming, and you can tell they put so much love into every bottle. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this is an experience you don’t want to miss. I’ll definitely be back to stock up and share with friends! We toured with Cape Coral chamber leadership class in 2022 and had a blast

Visited the Wicked Dolphin Distery. Took a tour that included free tastings and then had a cocktail at the their Tiki Bar. Jeff was our tour guide. Melissa and Kristina did our tasting after the tour. Angela was the bartender at the Tiki Bar. All the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend a visit to the Wicked Dolphin.
Sandy C — Google review
Loved this place!! Kristina was so much fun and extremely knowledgeable. The tour was very interesting..have a new respect for the rum making process. Everyone there seemed to love their job and believes in their product. Walked (stumbled) out with my new favorite brand of rum. 🤪
Royal G — Google review
The Wicked Dolphin Distillery tour was an awesome experience! The tour was not only informative but also really fun. It was fascinating to see the process of how their rum is made, from start to finish. The highlight was definitely the tastings—they were fantastic, and you can really tell the quality of their products. If you’re in Southwest Florida, I highly recommend taking this tour. It’s a unique and enjoyable way to spend some time and learn about locally made rum. A must-visit!

I got an email from the Sales Team at Three Suns asking if I enjoyed my recent purchase. I told them that the fillets were amazing, but I had a bad skirt steak and the wild hog mini roast was tough. Within twenty minutes, I got an email from the owner. That email turned into a wonderful phone conversation with Rogers about the physiology of grass fed meat, and the need to cook it differently. Now I know more about why to buy grass fed meat, and I know how to cook it. Roger even sent me recipes that I can't wait to create. Within hours of our conversation, I got a notification of a package being sent to me from Three Suns with replacement product. While I value this shipment, the personal response of the owner means the world to me and is truly priceless. I am a customer for life!
Sandra A — Google review
Three Suns ranch is an exceptional facility with top rated Bison and Beef. I have ordered online and have turned several friends and family members onto this facility and have heard nothing but positive feedback. Rogers Franklin, is the gentleman that i have dealt with from Three Suns, and can confidently say that he is an incredible entrepreneur and is well versed and knowledgeable in his product line and his passion is clearly on display. A true professional that loves what he does!
Shant M — Google review
I haven't visited the ranch yet, but I've been buying the meat for home delivery, and it is AMAZING!!! As a former chef, I thought I'd tasted pretty much everything, but the bison and beef have a great "beefy" flavor, and the feral hog has been great. I've gotten the loins and sausages, and going to try the Boston butt next. I would give 6 stars if I could. Thanks for the awesome meat!
Mitchell A — Google review
There isn't enough I can say about this ranch. The grass fed, grass finished, beef and bison are terrific and so is the wild hog. The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and helpful and they will go out of their way to make sure you leave happy. Their online store is super convenient if you can't make it out to their retail store. I highly recommend the beef cowboy cut steak, the bison porterhouse and the wild hog bratwurst!!!! YUM.
B P — Google review
This is a badly managed each by Rogers Franklin. Called & emailed to place a bulk order and he wasn’t able to give me a quote nor did he want to. I have the email chain. He made it a point to remind me he was the ‘CEO’. Extremely unprofessional & rude. The ranch is owned by Keith & his wife. Your best bet is dealing directly with them, if Bot take your business elsewhere.
Ike — Google review
Three Suns Ranch produces amazing buffalo meat. I've had it on multiple occasions and can tell you from personal experience I always look for buffalo meat when I'm out at a restaurant and if the place i'm dining at has it I always ask to see if it's from Three Suns Ranch. The CEO is quick, prompt, honest, fair and a pleasure to deal with. There's a chance I might name my first born son after him.
Michael D — Google review
Wow! Wow! Wow! Supermarket meat was grossing me out from everywhere. Being a meat and potato kind of family I needed to find a good ranch. Three Suns is it! We started with a couple butcher boxes to try a little of everything. Narrowed it down to the meat we liked for all other orders. Our favorites are both beef & bison filets, Boston butt, bratwurst, skirt steak, flank steak, and ground bison for burgers. I really don't think I can ever have a "normal" burger again. Excited to try the ribs this month. When it comes to price we actually save money. We order 9-10 meals at a time with it lasting about three weeks. Between left overs and having other dinners. It cuts back on running to the grocery every couple days to pick up dinner. That is a massive savings in our house. It all comes frozen which I don't mind at all. At least I know it's only been frozen once. Not to mention the smell..... NOTHING like grocery store meat. I could go on and on. Give this place a whirl!
Stasha — Google review
Very Dissapointed the manager they have , Rogers Franklin sent 8lbs of meat and charged for 20, they gauged prices , he is incredibly difficult to deal with and informed me that my 5-6000.00 a year purchases were not releleant , I made a deal to continued working with them that deal was broken , Rogers Franklins said .”Last time we talked, you were going your way and we are going That’s how I prefer to proceed. Good luck Phil“ It’s wonderful that they are so successful they can refuse business . First he lied and told me he was out if stock , 3 people have now quit or got fired , , 2 service personal and an accountant , they contacted me to tell me the horrible working conditions they were under. Good product Terrible customer service!

This was the reason we drove to this side of the island. The history is awesome. It was interesting viewing all the different areas being reconstructed since Hurricane Ian. The island is overcrowded, and the traffic is terrible. We had the pleasure of meeting the pastor. He is a Braves and Yankees fan.

MUSCLE CAR CITY LLC is a museum in Punta Gorda that showcases an impressive collection of over 200 muscle cars from the 1950s to the 1970s. The museum is a testament to one man's lifelong passion for classic cars, featuring not only vintage automobiles but also a gift shop and a retro diner called the Stingray Bar and Grill. Additionally, visitors can enjoy monthly car shows and flea markets where car enthusiasts gather to display their vehicles and trade car-related items.
Muscle Car City was amazing and worth the trip and the entry fee. I could have spent the entire day here viewing the incredible display of automotive history. If you are a General Motors fan, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Cadillac this is the place to visit. I was impressed by the inventory of cars and by the meticulous care and overall presentation. They have plenty of cars to view but also have signs, gas pumps and other items of automotive history. There was something new every time I looked closer. I intend on visiting again. The entry fee is reasonable and they offer an annual membership too. There is also a classic style diner on-site for breakfast and lunch. Make sure to talk a walk through the giftshop too, there's something for everyone!

Wow highly recommend it to anyone who is into cars. I have never seen such a collection. It is 1 persons personal collection over 200 cars truck suv all years. The owner is usually there and is very personable. Had a conversation with him. Entrance fee is only $12.50 and there is also a restaurant there.

Absolutely breathtaking the atmosphere and nostalgia of the history and vehicles in this museum. GM only car museum, as a Chevy guy I was in heaven. It saddens my heart knowing this place is closing the doors permanently next week due to covid and the owner wanting to retire. To anyone reading this before Jan 17th you must come check this place out. I drove almost 2 hours to come see this place and it was worth it.

For a place "off the beaten path", this is a real gem....especially if you are a GM fan. Great collection of classics from every year and model from the 60s thru today's high-end Corvette and Cameron. Plus lots signs and old car magazines. For $12 admission fee you can't beat it for a couple hours of nostalgia.

Heard Opera House is a captivating destination that beautifully blends history with modern recreational use. While the once-popular vinyl record collection has moved on, visitors can still explore a few vintage records in the antique store downstairs. This building not only serves as an arts hub but also houses an impressive antique shop where you can uncover unique treasures and enjoy helpful service from the owner. The surrounding area is brimming with charming restaurants and additional antique shops, making it perfect for a leisurely afternoon stroll.
My family and I absolutely LOVE the Heard Opera House and the many cute shops upstairs. They are constantly doing amazing family-friendly events and are a must-see place where we take our family and friends who visit from out of town. I'm so thankful to have such an awesome place in our small town. These two photos are from the live music they had after their second annual Paracon event.

The owners are very kind and genuine, care about the Opera House and want to protect the historical heritage of the property. We love investigating here and this is an amazing place for spiritual activity. We will definitely be back again!

Unique, historic, awesome. Music lessons, instruments (LOTS of GUITARS),open mic nights, game nights, paranormal investigations, live music, souvenirs. A one of a kind venue built in 1906. Something for everyone in the heart of downtown Arcadia. Now has AIR CONDITIONING!

Such a cool building and venue. Shops, Pool, Live Music, and drinks…what more do you need?

Awesome old opera house. Cant wait to go back to the apothecary shop and also to get to know the spirits better. 👻

Definitely ‼️ Place to see... If you happen to be in Arcadia walk around the “ downtown “ and see all the antique shops; opera house is one of many but it definitely leaves an impression!!!
Oskar K — Google review
You can spend hours here looking at the VAST collection of antiques of all sorts. MASSIVE record collection. Truly amazing, lots of history. Also haunted. Check it out!

Really beautiful old building that is converted into an antique store...you can even walk onto the stage and see all of the old catwalks and behind the scenes areas...super cool!

Military Museums
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Military Heritage Museum, situated near Fishermens Village in Punta Gorda, Florida, offers over seventeen square feet of exhibits and activities. It provides a diverse range of ways for visitors to learn about the connections between civilians and the U.S. military branches through displays, libraries, movies, lectures, and a hands-on flight simulator. The museum features three galleries covering American history from the Revolution to modern conflicts.
Honors those who served, covered many conflicts and the people who served. Large library, multiple dioramas, models, and speakers (changes - so it may be different when you get there.) Don't miss the flight simulator or virtual reality head sets and laser shooting range. It's not real big, on 2 floors, elevator was out, stairs only. I would highly recommend going, but you'd have to go multiple times to read read everything.
William J — Google review
It's one of the best military museums i've been to. Great collection of badges, insignia, medals, and uniforms as well. Covers all eras starting from the American Revolutionary War, but also has a Spanish Conquistador section from early Florida. The staff is very helpful and friendly and they have a great gift shop. There is a large room that honors the Purple Heart and the Medal of Honor recipients. It has a few outside displays as well.

Nice way to spend an afternoon if you like military history. Plenty to see and lots of memorabilia and historical artifacts. If you have anyone in your family like grandpa that served in the military like a Vietnam Veteran he really like this place. Takes about an hour to hour and a half to walk through and their simulations for flight and there are laser target practice ranges. All all pretty good I’d recommend this place.
Foxx T — Google review
Great attraction if you’re visiting Port Charlotte, Military Heritage Museum. Fun day to walk around. They have stimulation rooms. I believe you have to be 10 and up to go in was really cool. Recommend take the kids or your elderly family who may have served our country.

They have done an amazing job recovering from Helene Wonderful displays! Enjoyed talking with the docent. Appreciated the covered parking. Hope they are able to get the elevator fixed soon.

Awesome place with lots of military history, virtual flight simulator, uniforms and lots of military memorabilia. The volunteers were amazing and funny. Nice hidden gem in Punta Gorda.

Awesome place, the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable. You can learn a lot at this museum, it is not a very big museum but there is a lot of stuff for its size. It was great reading all the details and stories about both the history of the events illustrated and the story about the pieces of history. Overall a great place to visit.

I love this place, the staff and Veterans are lovely and very happy to share their experience and knowledge with the visitors. They make you so welcome and explain in detail all the great exhibits, layout and information of the many many wonderful collections of memorabilia contained in the large new building that houses the museum. You could happily spend a whole day here. The flight simulators are great fun and the virtual shooting range brings out the competitiveness in most people. Very well thought out and the vets ensure that your experience here is second to none. Respect and best wishes to you all ❤️

We visited here on 9/13/25. There is plenty of parking. Most of the shops don’t open up until 11am or noon. The place is clean as are the restrooms. There are a couple of restaurants open with at least 3 upcoming.

Must see excursion in Punta Gorda. Quaint shopping area in the marina. Covered but open to the Charlotte Harbor breeze and beach vibe atmosphere. Boat tours available dockside. Unique treasures for gifting a small slice of local flavor, handmade and/or natural shops, or just plain fun little things to enjoy with friends and family. Interesting concept with suites available upstairs overlooking the harbor. Beautiful place!

Outstanding. The sandy bay, the deck chairs, a Caribbean-style cocktail from the bar and an extraordinary sunset. Small loving boutiques, a restaurant with a view into the sunset possibly paired with an overnight stay. Unbelievable.

Fisherman’s Village what a cool place, we came across this place when visiting the area. A must see! From shops to buy clothing, odds and ends. We had lunch at the tiki bar which had good food and waterfront views. I had the chicken BLT wrap. It was amazing.

So serene! This is the epitome of Florida living. The weekends are hectic, but the weekdays are glorious! I love the tiny shops with beach clothing, toys, ice cream shops and cute eateries. You can hop on a boat and take in the best of Punta Gorda and the amazing sunset. And…. You can rent a room and vacation on the second floor of the building. I can’t wait to get back.

This is a great way to spend an afternoon in Punta Gorda. Lots of cool shops to go to and some restaurants and bars. The tiki bar is fantastic or the best I’ve seen , it’s right on the water with its own beach a perfect tropical setting. Let the wife and kids walk around to the shops while you get yourself a cheeseburger in paradise and a nice margarita or a cold beer. I just discovered this place recently and if I go back to Punta Gorda, I’ll be definitely coming here again..

Peace River Wildlife Center-Education Center

Outdoor Activities
The Peace River Wildlife Center-Education Center is a local refuge and rehabilitation facility that offers educational tours to the public. Located in Ponce de Leon Park, it overlooks the Charlotte Harbor and is surrounded by mangroves. The non-profit center specializes in rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing native Florida wildlife, with over 2,000 small animals and birds cared for annually. Additionally, it provides a permanent home for nearly 200 animals unable to return to their natural habitats.
This is a small facility, but is still wonderful and worth a visit. There are many different types of birds to see, as well as a few other animals. It is free, but donations are appreciated. When was the last time anything was free? 😁 Staff was available to share information and answer questions. They were all very friendly and seemed to really love their job and helping their guests learn more about their animals and mission. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to visiting again.
Terri C — Google review
Very wonderful place to go. Only $10 for a recommended admission donation and they truly take wonderful care of their animals. We saw Jaxon the opossum eat and we saw the bald eagle chirping. Wonderful place and very friendly and educated people there ready for any questions and wonders!
Sylvia P — Google review
I really loved this place when I visited for the first time. I came down to Florida from Missouri and was really interested in something wildlife based to visit that 1. Didn't cost very much (this is perfect because there is no entrance fee, they only ask they you make a donation if you can. There is suggested amounts to donate, but no one is there twisting your arm) and 2. Didn't require much hiking to see cool things. It was quite hot and sunny the day we visited so it was nice that it was in more of an urban setting. I want to start by reminding anyone that this whole place is pretty much run by volunteers! They are super awesome people, very knowledgeable, and incredibly generous to dedicate their time to the care of all of the animals. For review purposes: I will warn anyone with children or a large party that it isn't the biggest place. It is a single walkway with animals and information on both sides. It is NOT air conditioned, but partially shaded. There is a small gift shop that IS air conditioned which is a wonderful break from the heat. There are not bathrooms in the facility, but there are the park bathrooms outside. While it isn't a "premium" experience, you get what you didn't have to pay for. If you really love wildlife, rehabilitation, and general education then it is a nice little place to visit. The gift shop had quite a few things I was happy to buy lol.
Kayla M — Google review
This sanctuary has such beautiful animals, friendly staff and a great setup in general. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and gave a great presentation on Halloween. We saw lots of birds but there are a few furry friends as well! The gift shop has a ton of fun and cute items for a good price. If you’re in the area this place is the perfect place to stop.
Kore — Google review
I really enjoy coming here with my wife to check up on the critters, but I am extremely concerned about what will be done with the land after the move to the new facility. It is my understanding that a developer wishes to come in and build on Ponce de Leon Park. People need to wake up and get vocal! Nobody wants more condos!! We want our beautiful nature!
Daniel C — Google review
Great people working there pretty educational and friendly. My daughter and us were so happy about the explanations the workers provide. It's really good and you learn a lot about what they do and how good they take care of the animals.

While some beach accesses are free, Gasparilla Island State Park provides amenities like showers and restrooms for free.
Absolutely beautiful island. I love our Gulf Coast so much. This was our first time here. Spent a few hours exploring by bike. Paradise found.

Beautiful beach with endless seashells to choose from. Scenic views for as far as the eye can see. You can walk the shoreline with ease for miles on end. Places to eat once in a while, different parks as you walk, wonderful homes hidden in the tree line. Truly a beautiful place to probably be able to live here year round.
Butch M — Google review
Beautiful beach with beautiful water but the riptide made it really difficult to get in and out of the actual water. There were beautiful historical buildings in the area. Wouldn't recommend it for shelling overall but sound some gems there. The shower for rinsing off. I just one head and no foot wash was very low pressure.

Gorgeous absolutely amazing! Iguana, turtle, pelican, abundant shelling, shark teeth, lighthouse. MANATEE swam right up to us!! INCREDIBLE dreamy island. Extremely clean island. Pack lots of water, and snacks!
Venture L — Google review
One of our favorite beaches we’d love to go to the lighthouse and snorkel around the old pier as you watch from the distance you’ll normally see some manatee, cruising around and enjoy the wonderful Clearwaters
Sherry B — Google review
This is easily my favorite beach and area in this region. I have been to Siesta Key, Turtle Beach, Venice Beach and Bowman Beach on Sanibel. Gasparilla just offers something so different and so unique. There is a toll to cross the bridge ($6 a car) and a state park fee of $3 per car at the parking lots but the bathrooms were well kept, the water was crystal clear, the sand was amazing and truthfully I found better shells here than on Sanibel. This is a reminder that state parks are often under used and 100% worth visiting. It was the quietest beach we went to and we can't wait to come back.

Lighthouse and Museum. The hours on the website are different than actual hours. But this may also be due to us visiting during off season. The lighthouse is full of information and a small gift shop. Loved learning about the islands history and seeing the different animal life. The water around this is always Red Flag. This is a no swim, no wading, zone. You can definitely find a nice sunny spot to lay out, some people were fishing. But do not expect to swim at this one. Definitely recommend visiting.

We went to the beach on the day that Hurricane Helenes outer bands started coming in. Of course, the beach was empty. This made for an awesome shelling experience! We were hoping to go in the water, but it was already riled up! We stayed until the rain started. What a beautiful beach!

Beautiful beach with clear water, tons of shells, not crowded at all. You do have to pay $6 to enter (toll) and $3 to park. There were only portable toilets-seems like they are doing a bit of construction.

What a heavenly beach. Absolutely beautiful. Nice clean bathrooms are available. Not very crowded. I tried fishing here and had an absolutely great time. I caught lots of small fish and I cought my first pompano (and it was a keeper) very exciting.
Brandon C — Google review
Not a good beach for families with little ones. There’s a big drop off, broken shells are abundant and the day we went anyways, the sea was rough. We did see fish even in the little ways we went in. However, water wasn’t as clear as I was expecting from all the hype we heard about this area. (Went mid October) No manatees or any other wildlife. Church was closed, lighthouse museum was open, but didn’t go in as we were all in our bathing suits. Did find 2 Sharks teeth without digging around & son’s picked up some larger whole shells. Entry fee and small parking fee. This time of year, all senior citizens at the beach except for us. Lots of people fishing from the beach however didn’t see anyone catch anything.

If you have littles, please read my review :) 6/12/2023 UPDATE: Since Ian happened last summer, this beach has lost a lot of sand. The beach is much narrower and the drop off at the front isn't as deep but now the water level is a bit deeper than it was las summer. My sone is now turning 4 in August and the water was a bit deeper on him. It's still nice and I got to see a manatee again this year and that was so exciting !! Original: This beach is pretty quiet and just relaxing! We were a little bit north of where the pinned Boca Grande Pass spot is (aroung the 5th street entrance) but I just want to review the beach as I saw some say it wasn't kid friendly 😁 it's a narrow but nice. The sand is a bit shelly but bareable being barefoot. The current isn't bad at all and the waves come in at an angle. I have a almost 3 year old and he loved the fact he could walk out probably 30 feet from the shore and still stand on his own (its knee to hip deep about 50 feet out I would guess). The waves weren't too bad and he did really well for his first ocean trip! There is a slight drop (maybe a foot or less) at the very beginning and the shelly sand ends at the sea kelp line (you can see it in the photos). Just on the other side there was just pure soft sand. I even saw a manatee and was so happy I got to see one 😁😁 Thanks for reading my review and hope you have a great beach day!
Sarah F — Google review
One my favorite beaches! It’s beautiful and clean! There are manatees that swim around this area so be on the lookout! I’ve heard manatees are friendly though. Unfortunately there aren’t any wash station around. There are portable potties. Before getting to the island there is a $6 toll but we’ll worth the trip!

Nestled in the serene woods of Florida, Solomon's Castle is a remarkable creation that showcases the artistic vision of its late builder, Howard Solomon. This impressive medieval-style castle is constructed primarily from recycled materials and features an array of stunning metal sculptures and wood block paintings that reflect Solomon's genius. Visitors can explore various galleries filled with his artwork while also enjoying a delightful meal at the Boat-in-the-Moat restaurant, which offers both indoor and outdoor dining options.
It was great. The castle is made of scraps & other people's "junk". Howard Solomon was a genius. I do recommend it. The food at their restaurant was great. The castle is closed on Monday then August 1 and reopens October 1. It is out in the middle of nowhere though.
Vickie P — Google review
This is really a unique place to visit. We bought the package deal which included a tour of the castle, which was filled with unique objects made by Solomon, and a tour of Solomon's later creations and his antique car collection. Our tour was led by "Uncle Jimmy," who was entertaining and quite knowledgeable. It was quite an interesting experience and well worth the $39 per ticket that included both tours. Afterwards, we enjoyed lunch at their on-site restaurant, The Boat on the Moat. The food was good as well, and my wife and I enjoyed our excursion to Solomon's Castle very much. It was well worth the time and money.
James K — Google review
Absolutely loved it. Mr Solomon was an amazing artist. All his art is created from other people's trash. I can't begin to describe all the beautiful art in the castle which was also his home. Definitely worth a visit if you are a lover of all things creative. There are 2 small restaurants on the grounds and the food was very good. No inside photos are allowed so I will share my beautiful outside photos.
Judy D — Google review
Was a whole surprise and definitely well worth it. Great staff, Good food and an exquisite ambiance surrounded by nature and the magic of Solomon’s art. We’re repeating again for sure. Highly recommended.

WOW! You could tour this place over and over and still not see everything! The guides are knowledgeable and friendly. This is a one-of-a-kind experience. See the genius artistry of a creative mind who "made stuff" by recycling trash to treasure. Don't miss this one! It's out of the way, but a beautiful drive. Plan to stay for a delicious lunch and enjoy the sweet gift shop, but bring cash; they don't take plastic.
Tina K — Google review
Nice spot will catch the museum at a later date as the tour a little more than I expected. We ate in the pirate ship . You could also eat outside or in a lighthouse. It was a cute experience and food was good and reasonably priced.

It is well worth the trip out there to see all the art and sculptures. It is not really a place for kids who like hands-on/interactive museums. I would suggest teens who are into art and sculpture and old cars. There is also a place to eat.

Awesome spot! There was a huge amount of shells from the recent storm. It was like 3 feet deep. There's shark teeth all over but you gotta figure out what to look for or you'll miss them. Stump Pass is a nice beach. The parking area is small so if you don't get there early you might not be able to park. However, it also means it's not very crowded. Chadwick Park at Englewood Beach is a beautiful destination with white sandy beaches, boardwalks, playgrounds, volleyball and basketball courts, and picnic shelters. The area offers stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico and opportunities for activities like kayaking, canoeing, fishing, birdwatching, and shark teeth hunting. Visitors can also explore the historic landmarks in the vicinity such as the Chadwick Beach Pavilion.
Beautiful beach, close walk from parking lot to water, plenty of good restaurants, bars and small shops in walking distance. Pay to park with ParkMobile app. There are usually less crowds at this beach, compared to other nearby Florida beaches. There are lots of shells to find, and shark teeth are common here too! This is a great spot for all ages.
Justin B — Google review
The parking is open again, but sadly the restrooms are not. Nothing but Port of John's lined up. The beautiful Boardwalk is gone there are still no basketball nets. No signs of anyone working on it besides the mowers and blowers who's blaring noise ruined the peace and solitude that you would expect to find at 7:30 in the morning. It's been a year, what's up Charlotte county?
Paradise L — Google review
Nice beach that is not crowded, but you will need to pay for parking, via your phone and CC. Found some fossils, enjoyed watching the storms roll by, in front and behind us. Decent facilities, bathrooms were clean, but really need a little more light inside. I recommend this venue to all who are looking for a quiet beach to relax on. *Note* Traffic can be a rough, leave plenty of time before and after your visit.
Jason O — Google review
Nice beach. Sand Is a bit more course than some of the other popular FLORIDA beaches. Sharks teeth wash down from Venice here. So a less crowded spot to look, not always quite as nice though. Pay to park. You need an app. Restrooms are a walk away. Not super close. They have a kiddy park before entering the beach area. It was closed when we went. Not sure why. No signs. Just yellow tape. Lots of seaweed. It was gone after a few days. Bad red tide. Also gone within a few days. Beware of jellies.
Jayda O — Google review
With all the red tide problems & rain I've missed going to the beach. So I had to go... I heard RED TIDE was starting to clear up & I wanted to see for myself. The beach was pretty deserted, maybe 4-5 small groups of people were there. I didn't smell anything, which was good but I did have persistent coughing for awhile. I didn't see allot of dead fish, 3 to be exact but I stayed in one area so there may have been more further down the beach. The water was a bit green as pictures show but no one was in the water. I hoped to find shells but no such luck there, workers who combed the beach for dead fish must've collected shells too. So I satisfied my curiosity about red tide clearing up, I believe it is but its not quite ready for normal population. I'll give it a few more weeks & try again.
Carol P — Google review
Unfortunately the tide brought in loads of brown reddish sea grass to the shoreline. Apparently the city should clean it up by the weekend. Also, today the beach was jammed packed around 2ish. Sadly the beach sand was a bit sharp due to excess cut up shells. The sunlight of course was delightful. We totally appreciated the waves splashing sounds too.
Zule K — Google review
A beautiful Florida beach: sandy mix with many shells and an occasional shark tooth. Very new and nice shaded playground, restrooms, boardwalks, picnic areas, basket ball, volleyball, and plenty of shops and restaurants close by. Parking is easy with a kiosk to pay by the hour, which was $.75/hr for us by credit card. The beach tends to get busy.
Shana T — Google review

This is a wonderful observation deck which gives an incredible 360 degree view over Myakka State Park and the surrounding nature/hiking trails. The wooden structure was build by volunteers and is very well-made, although you can feel a slight sway at the top of the structure. There is also a nice suspension/wooden bridge that you can cross. This is great for kids and adults of all ages. There is a short trail that leads to the observation deck from the nearby parking area.

Great place to bike or walk around. A fun walking bridge and a hike up many steps to the canopy view. We saw many alligators and birds. The boat tour was closed this season as the water is down 3 feet. Overall, a great family place to go.

Came with our children and our parents, ages 6 to 72 and we had a great time! We drove through the park end to end first checking out the wildlife. We saw a wide variety of birds, several deer, and even a few alligators. After our "self led safari" our party of 6 walked the canopy walkway. The structure is very well maintained and easy to navigate. The six year old was the first to reach the top of the canopy, but you do feel the sway of the structure in the wind. The views from the peak observation platform are breathtaking, and worth the climb. We spent about 4 hours total exploring. For the $6 entrance fee (per vehicle) we highly recommend, it's worth the stop.

Beautiful and gators were active. I think this would be a place to bike, which we seen lots doing it. At the same time they need a bike lane because kids were in the middle with their parents and cars were trying to get around.

Caspersen Beach

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Beachcombing for shells & sharks’ teeth is a popular activity on this rugged stretch of coastline.
Closed due to hurricane damage. Even had a sheriff out there blocking access. Bathrooms closed. Showers closed. No water. Road washed away. Debris all over and the walkways are just annihilated by the hurricanes. Sad. Careful with kids wear shoes/foot protection. Hurricane took all the teeth. Zero shark teeth anywhere :).

Beautiful black sand beach with tons of shells, and if you're lucky, shark teeth! They aren't just laying around, you'll want to bring a bucket or strainer to sift through the shells & sand.

Always love it here it's not cool the road is still closed but still able to get to beaches and find teeth

This is my favorite beach n florida! I am an actual born and raised Floridian and still enjoy this spot. But if you have children (or a weak stomach) beware of walking too far south down the beach. The naked old and weird will come out of the tree lines. Some are harmless other than the obvious, but there are a few mouthy ones who think they are entitled to be there naked and you shouldn't be there. I was cursed out with my husband for stopping to find shark teeth in a spot that they were hiding when we arrived then descended down on us 100% naked. The upside of this beach are the amazing amount of fossils you will find. Especially if you know what to look for. Check it out for sure. Just be mindful of how far south you stray.

I’ve heard in Heaven the streets are paved with Gold-at this beach the streets are paved with sharks teeth! You literally shower off standing on shark teeth. The beaches are pristine and the sand is like powdered sugar. Bring a kitchen strainer and prepare for a day of exploration of finding your own treasures. You won’t be disappointed. Check out my Podcast for more hard hitting truth.

A pristine beach located off the beaten path with plenty of spots to claim a peaceful day. A long walk if your planning to come without a boat, There is a ferry that takes people back and fourth from the South Venice yacht club. Found lots of shark teeth and the sand was blazing hot. Make sure you have some adequate sun protection.

I went on Sunday morning and there were over 2 dozen people sifting through the beach looking for sharks teeth. They were spread out the whole length of the beach (over 2 miles ). The sand is fine and is not rocky except for shells in various amounts throughout. It isn't too busy and has plenty of space so you don't have to be on top of other people. Great place to take the kids or to relax without a lot of hassle around you. Free parking is great.
Charles T — Google review
One of the lesser known beaches of the area, but if you know of shark teeth then you definitely know of Caspersen! This beach is so fun because it’s so unique- there are lots of rocks right along the shore like and a huge walkway across the sand, making for some great views! There are lots of shells to be found, not even just shark teeth but a large array of other conchs, scallops and really good ones! If you want to find teeth, though, I suggest you bring either a rake or some kind of straining/ scooping element because otherwise they are super difficult to find. You also need to find the right spot, so if you’re not finding any, keep on moving and don’t give up! Caspersen also has some bathrooms and rinse stations, but beware of parking because it can get tough- so great there EARLY or get there late- the in between may have you driving around quite a bit!

Excellent camp ground for youth scout camping and to the looks of it great for family camping. Gas stations within 15 min drive for ice and other things along with a Walmart about 20 minutes away. Great roads for bike rides and also plenty of good views with alot of alligator sitings. Make the 1 hr trip to peace river if you can and dig for some fossils when the water is low!

The campsite was huge and well cleared with plenty of flat spots for tents; the water out of the spigot was delicious and clean and didn't have that standard Florida sulfur taste; the state park staff was extremely accommodating and helpful; and the site was secluded from other campers. Overall, a fantastic experience!

Seafood restaurant
Sharky's On the Pier is a renowned beachfront restaurant located in Venice, Florida. Since its establishment in 1987, it has been a popular dining destination offering a seafood-heavy menu and refreshing drinks from its tiki bar. Situated at the base of the Venice Fishing Pier with stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico, Sharky's provides an unforgettable dining experience. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner daily, with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays until 11 p.m.
We had a good all around experience at Sharky’s. From the beach atmosphere to the very accommodating and friendly staff. The place was clean and has plenty of seating. I had the rice bowl with gulf shrimp and it was very tasty. The shrimp I had grilled and they were tasty. Everything was fresh. My wife had the rice bowl with blackened chicken and she said it was on point. It is right on the beach so it’s totally convenient. We dined 6/6/25.

Never Disappoints! A Venice Beach Favorite Sharky's on the Pier is hands-down my family's favorite spot whenever we're in Venice Beach. It's the perfect mix of great food, a laid-back coastal vibe, and consistently friendly service. On our most recent visit, we were lucky to have Rachel as our server--she was incredibly sweet and attentive. I was torn on which frozen drink to try, and without me even asking, Rachel and the bartenders offered me samples of all their frozen drinks, even recommending some of their personal favorite combos. It was such a thoughtful touch, and every drink was super refreshing! As for the food--our go-to appetizers are the lobster & artichoke dip and the onion rings, both always spot on. For my entrée, I never stray from the grilled salmon rice bowl. It's a solid 10/10 every single time. They also run great weekly specials on fresh lobster and other seafood, which makes it even better. The recent renovations have taken the atmosphere up a notch--it's even more enjoyable than before (and it was already great). Whether you're a local or just visiting, Sharky's never disappoints. We're always excited to come back

Came with family, food was amazing as was our server. However, we were meeting them halfway so we went to see if we can reserve the table that had enough seats for the 7 of us and they said they prefer if our entire party was here. About 10 min later our party was fully there and the table we wanted had one lady holding it for the rest of her party which isn’t fair to us because we were told we couldn’t do that. Then they seat us at a table with sun after we requested shade, and when we reminded her again and politely asked if we could sit a few tables away, the girl who was seating us had an attitude and a face and didn’t say anything and just put our menus down and walked away. Not the best service, except our server was very nice. It was almost a perfect visit for our first time here.

This place was fantastic! We had been on the beach all day and wanted a frozen drink but didn’t know what to get so they offered us a sampler (for free) to taste their frozen drinks and decide which one we liked best(yes they had alcohol) the calamari was fantastic! They have inside and outside seating, rockers to sit in and have drinks and look at the ocean. They also had live entertainment. Definitely going back!

We visited Sharky’s twice during our stay in Venice, and both times were fantastic! The drinks are amazing — perfectly mixed and full of flavor. On our first visit, we had the tuna nachos and they were outstanding. The second time we tried the seafood nachos loaded with shrimp and lump crab — absolutely delicious! The service both times was excellent, and the bartenders were friendly, funny, and made the experience even better. Sitting by the bar with that view of the pier and ocean just can’t be beat. This place is a must-stop when visiting Venice. Great food, great drinks, and even better vibes — and yes, I did find shark teeth on the beach afterward! 🦈🌅

Amazing dedication to all our brave veterans and soldiers that have defended this country so valiantly. If you are in the area, it’s a great place to stop for a little while to honor these amazing souls. We planted 25,000 flags for Memorial Day. It was a privilege and honor. 🙏🏼🇺🇸

Riding up to my grandfathers' burial was a sight to see. It's extremely gorgeous. When we began walking to the grave site we noticed that the workers had already begun to bury his ashes. Our family was surprised by this because they were under the impression that they could say their last goodbyes. About 15 minutes later we were sharing our memories, and a worker came by, stopped us to "verify" his grave. This was very disappointing. Our family was hurt and found that disrespectful. I do hope they treat the family of other veterans better than this.

My family and I want to express our profound gratitude to the staff at The Sarasota National Cemetery. On Thursday, we laid my father and his wife of over 40 years to rest, fulfilling his wish to be buried in a military cemetery as a proud veteran. From my very first phone call to the conclusion of the ceremony, the entire process was handled with remarkable efficiency and genuine kindness. The staff's professionalism and care provided great comfort during a difficult time, and we are grateful for a truly flawless experience.

Visited Sarasota National Cemetery. Very moving experience. Came to visit a family member who served us in WWII. Absolutely beautiful grounds. There are 295 acres, which will serve veterans for the next the next 50 years. They are working on a large pavilion in the center, called Patriot Plaza. When I stopped at the visitor center, a lovely lady came right up to me and help me identify where my family member was and how to get there. She gave a detailed map and made sure I understood it.

Such a fun time. They've really expanded since the first time I went about 10 years ago. I REALLY want one of the goats! I found one I loved ...I named him Oreo. See pic. Only complaint was the train. It went off track at least twice while we were there. It was hot standing in line only to be turned away. Either way, still a 5-star day.

I visited Hunsader Farms in Bradenton for their Pumpkin Festival and it was a great way to spend a fall day. The pumpkin fields had plenty of good picks, the hayrides were relaxing, and the corn maze added some fun adventure. The petting zoo and playground were nice for kids and the food stands had everything from roasted corn to funnel cakes and fresh lemonade. The smell of everything cooking really set the fall atmosphere. Parking was easy and the festival felt well organized without being too crowded. It’s a laid back family spot where you can take photos, enjoy the weather, and just have a simple fun day outdoors. If you’re looking for a fall outing around Bradenton, Hunsader Farms Pumpkin Festival is a solid choice for good food, family time, and that seasonal small-town feel.

The Hunsader Farms Pumpkin Festival is hands-down one of the best fall events in Florida! 🎃🍂 Every year it seems to get better — from the incredible food vendors (the roasted corn and homemade pies are a must!) to the live music, craft booths, and family-friendly activities, there’s something for everyone. The pumpkin patch is picture-perfect, and the kids love the petting zoo, pony rides, and train. It’s such a fun way to kick off the fall season — even in sunny Florida, you can feel that cozy autumn vibe here. Parking is well organized, staff are super friendly, and everything is clean and well run. We make it a tradition every year, and it never disappoints! Highly recommend for families, couples, and anyone looking for some classic fall fun. 🍁👏

So much fun! My husband and I went for the pumpkin festival and had so much fun! There’s lots to do just make sure you bring cash as it’s cash only + 5$ parking & 15$ tickets. Lots of food vendors, cute animals, big pumpkin patch, live music, activities and vendors! We had so much fun and can’t wait to come back for more of their events!

So fun but bring your own water, they don't have many vendors that sell any. Also, lots of sunlight so bring a hat or some kind of shade. The pumpkin cannon is cool and the cats are so sweet!

You pay 5 bucks to park and 15 dollars to get in per person then you have to walk along way from the parking lot which is in the middle of a field to the gate. It has alot of things to do there but most of it costs money. I did get to see some birds and other wildlife. They seemed like they were miserable. They should probably update the facilities for the animals if they want to show them there every year. Lot of food vendors there but of course thats high too. 15 for a cheeseburger. I dont think I will be going back next year.

— Siesta Key Beach Florida Review — I’ve been here 5 weeks ago. It is the best beaches I have ever been to. I definitely recommend going to this exact beach in Florida if you want Jacuzzi style relaxation. The water is really hot! When it’s sunny and humid, you will have to handle it going into the water will make it worse since it’s really hot. 5 star beach and definitely the best beaches I ever went to. Highly recommend!

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!! Siesta Beach is ranked among the top 10 best beaches in the U.S. every year — and of course, our family wanted to see if it really deserves the title. It absolutely does! All the photos online are real — not exaggerated at all. Parking: there are plenty of spots, though I imagine it might be tricky to find one during the busy season. There are also designated spaces for people with disabilities. Before reaching the main beach area, there’s a large shaded zone with a playground, picnic shelters, and showers. It takes about 5–7 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the beach. The sandy area is divided by a small service road where you can easily set up a tent or have a picnic. The sand is truly amazing — pure white, very fine, soft, and cool even on hot days. The ocean is a paradise for the eyes! The water color is stunning, even when there are waves. The entry into the water is smooth and safe, perfect for kids. There are lifeguards on duty and sheriff patrols, which makes you feel even safer. Highly recommend this beach for everyone — families, groups of friends, or couples looking for a beautiful and relaxing spot to enjoy the day. 💙

Best beaches in the Sarasota area. Get there early if you want to find a parking spot. It is a very popular beach and people flock here. Food is available and there are ample public bathrooms and foot washing station. The beach is a bit of a hike from the parking lot but well worth the walk. Great place to take your family. Plenty of space for grilling, a playground for the kids, and a few covered areas for large parties and to stay out of the sun.

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens Downtown Sarasota is a 7-acre bayside showcase for tropical plants, featuring a conservatory and garden museum. It is dedicated to the research of orchids, epiphytes, and bromeliads. The gardens boast premier collections of native and tropical plants, trees, mosses, and colorful outdoor gardens.
This was one of the most beautiful botanical gardens I've been to in Florida, I had a wonderful time. There's a greenhouse with plants at the front, and it leads to an outdoor area with more plants and a cafe. The cafe was wonderful, they have flatbread, salads, tea, and more. They have some huge trees near the cafe that I personally thought were really cool. At the time I went, there was a George Harrison event that was themed like his album All Things Must Pass, and it was wonderful. There's a museum in the garden, and they had an exhibit all about Harrison and really beautiful photography. If you follow the path, there's a restaurant at the end. It has a very nice vibe and good service. Overall a wonderful experience, and I would come again.

Beautiful place to be. The parking is easy to navigate and there is a small gift shop below the garage. I explored the gardens and there were many butterflies out. There was a little cafe on the property and the women working the counter was very kind. There is a beautiful banyan tree with bridges and things for children to play with like musical instruments. There is a lovely gazebo where it looks as though wedding as held inside with stained glass above which was very pretty. A peaceful place to walk 🌺.

When my wife and I went to the intriguing exhibit by Rebecca Louise Law unfortunately, being sensitive to fragrances, I could not enjoy the display. Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium is a fascinating destination that offers an immersive experience with over 100 marine species. Visitors can enjoy touch pools, working labs, and interactive exhibits. The aquarium features a stingray touch tank, a shark tank, and a nearby mammal center where manatees can be observed. Additionally, the facility provides educational opportunities for visitors of all ages to learn about marine life and interact with various sea creatures.
We visited from Arizona and this stop did not disappoint. I enjoyed all the exhibits and the educational graphics. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a great time and we will definitely be visiting again the next time that we are visiting family in Bradenton. My parents really enjoyed the touch pool and the sea turtles. I enjoyed watching the amphibians.

Very nice aquarium! Loved the renovation. The food court had an excellent range of food options. The manatee, penguins and otters were my kid's favorite.

I had a really great time at this aquarium, and I definitely would come again. There are two main buildings, the building with fish and other attractions like a preserved giant squid and a virtual reality experience, and a building with mammals like manatees and turtles. Once you pay for a ticket, you can enter both of these buildings. I suggest starting at the main building, and when you finish, follow the path marked with paintings of fish, and you can find your way to the mammal building. There's also a bird sanctuary, which is free entry. You can spend a decent amount of time there, so if you don't want to spend any money, it's a great option. This place is great for anyone of any age, and the elevators for accessibility make it a very open experience for anyone of any demographic. I highly recommend this place if you want to learn about marine life or just enjoy your day viewing interesting sea creatures.

Super cute little aquarium, I heard they're expanding recently as well? (I went a few years ago). Have a focus on sea turtles and rescue/rehabilitation of them. Can also see dolphins, manatees, a variety of fish and marine life, and a VERY NICE otter exhibit, the otters have a nice waterfall, clear clean water and lots of toys!

I’m very happy to know they are moving to newer and nicer / larger building soon! This will be amazing for them since you always have to walk to the building across the street. People are so friendly and so nice, we Love the people working and volunteering here! There was an older gentleman who took the time to explain to us how their giant squid ( found dead and now being preserved ) came to the facility. He was an amazing story telling and so knowledgeable about these creatures! We can’t wait to come back but now to the new facilities!

Was hoping to see the new aquarium. However, this one open til July 6th. It is inside and out and allows us to see some amazing sea life. Worth a visit. However, the new place should be awesome. This takes a good 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Does have a café.

Aquarium and marine animal rescue were great. Not crowded on a June afternoon, and docents were terrific. We used our hometown zoo membership to help get a discounted ticket price. We arrived around 3, but wish we had had more time to read about everything and check out the bird rescue, which closed at 4:30, too.

We took our grandchildren here during a vacation. We enjoyed the educational experience. It is kid friendly and a great place for them to explore the wonders of the sea. Staff are knowledgeable and approachable. They enjoy educating the visitors, especially the children. There are hands-on activities for the littles. It is not overwhelming big, the perfect size for the children. The bird sanctuary and manatees are a short walk and worth it.

The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art

Nature & Parks
The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art is a state art museum established by the circus magnate, featuring 31 galleries housed in a pink Renaissance-style palace. Founded by John Ringling and his wife Mabel, the museum showcases over 10,000 items including European and American artworks, Asian art, contemporary pieces, decorative arts, and circus memorabilia. The building itself is an architectural attraction modeled after the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
If it's a cloudy Monday, you know where to go. Admission is free. Of course, some areas require a fee, but you decide based on what you like. For me, the circus museum is worth the basic $25 ticket price. It takes about 2 hours. Comfortable shoes are recommended, as there's a lot of walking involved. The building was inspired by the famous Italian city of Venice. The palace's style is Venetian Gothic. It was their home. Her gardens also indicate where she spent her time. The Ringling Circus performed shows all over America, traveling by train from one place to another, and was very famous. So, you decide on the tickets yourself, or whether to immerse yourself and decide later.

Thinking this is just a museum dedicated to the circus wrong. of course there is circus memorabilia in two buildings that take you back to your childhood, but there is also the mansion from John and Mabel Ringling, and there is also an art museum with some of the most incredible paintings You have seen in the most amazing building. The property is lush and beautiful. I highly recommend a visit.

My husband and I visited here earlier in the year it was such a cool experience. So much beautiful art, history, lovely gardens, and so much more. This is the kind of place you wander around all day long. The banyan trees are the largest we’ve ever seen in FL. It was kind of disappointing that the rose garden was under construction but I guess we’ll just have to come back again. The staff were all helpful and shared lots of cool information. The cafe was cute but a little over priced so we decided not to eat there. Thank you for an amazing time. This is a great spot to take cool pictures. We were very impressed by the miniature circus.

This place has so much richness to offer! Ensure to leave yourself ample time to enjoy the entire 65 acres of this Museum. The garden is beautiful and so is the 🎭 🖼️ building. The circus 🎪 history. Great place if you're an arts enthusiast. Bonus: catch the sunset on Thursdays they close at 8PM last photo!

The museum and grounds are stunning. The lovely art is displayed in beautiful grand rooms. Docent Larry was ever so knowledgeable about the history of John Ringling . Jody, another kind docent, a true look a like to Julia Roberts, the actress , was so friendly , as well. The museum has so much to see and read about the art, a true memorable experience. A must “ go to” if you are in Florida… bring the kids, let them view art and learn some history, then they can run around on the playground near the rose gardens. Try to go near sunset, like on Thursday’s 5’O Clock deal… and capture a picture as the sunsets with the Greek garden sculptures are in full view.

Loved this place. There is a lot to do here. We ran out of time. It is set in a beautiful garden but there is a lot of renovation going on at the moment. Our favourite bit was the circus. It was fun to learn about the history and the miniature circus was just amazing.

Beautiful 66 acre property with museum, art gallery, castle and manicured grounds. Bring your walking shoes because you will definitely get all of your steps in for the day. To see it all plan to spend at least 5 or more hours here. Highly recommended. 👍🏽 🤡 🎪🤹🎠

We were there for 3 hours! So much to see! Amazing 🤩. The only let down was the Ca' d'Zan house. They charge extra to go there but you cannot go to the second floor currently, and they don't say it upfront....you find out when you get there! Charging full price to see half the house is dishonest...let people know upfront and let them decide. Despite that, the grounds were beautiful, the museum art was stunning ✨ and the circus museums were so fun and interesting to look at and learn the history of the circus 🎪.

Best store by far is all star elite. It’s right next to the Nike outlets. They have really good deals. Custom T shirts. Hats. Jeans. Jerseys. Definitely worth checking them out

It's typically packed weekdays/weekends regardless of when you go. Good selection of stores. A little tiny area for kids to play by the food court which was nice to spend a few minutes at with my kiddo.

We went on a weekend and it was not crowded and it had different shopping options with great discounts available for buyers. Along with different shopping lots present in Ellenton, there is also plenty of parking options available, which makes it easier for buyers to shop and park easily.

very clean and well maintained, lots of parking, lots of shops, clean restaurants and restrooms. The benches outdoors to sit on are nice and shaded. We just so happen to go on a day that the fighter jets were flying for the bucs game, that was cool to watch in the sky

It's a nice place and big, there are clothes of all brands and good deals, and it has a dining area, the only detail is that there's not a technology store, only clothes stores

Terrific mall! Absolutely love the Lucky Brand store. Overall a great place to find some decent deals with a variety of stores. Biggest issues: 1. You have to Pay to park closer to the front. Feels very nickel and dime for an already failing industry. 2. Food court needs a heavy overhaul. It is dark and dingy with not a lot of great nor healthy options.

Ellington. Premium Mount. It’s always has a wide variety of amazing deals that I find extraordinarily unbeatable. Come to see them today. Find the shoes. You need the clothes you don’t and everything from here to their in between and all around. Come see us today at Ellington outlet malls. Enjoy the minion shops here, and you will find a great deal. I guarantee you. If nothing else you have a beautiful time, enjoying the lovely scenery and ladies.

The Gamble Plantation Historic State Park is a beautiful plantation home that was built in 1839 and is one of the most famous historic landmarks in South Florida. The park also features a mansion with accurate historically-accurate furnished rooms, making it a great place for all ages to explore.
Prior to moving to FL, we always enjoyed touring mansions & historic homes in NY so we decided to see what Florida had to offer. We came across the Gamble Mansion and decided to take the 1 hour tour. Our tour guide, George, was very knowledgeable and provided a wealth of information about its history, construction, and those that lived and worked there. George was patient and professional. If you have some time, it’s worth a visit.

The tour is pretty cheap, but worth it if you show up at tour times. You'll learn about hushpuppies and why the ceilings are so high. The guide was knowledgeable and was able to answer the other patrons' questions.

Grounds are beautiful! However the staff disappeared at break time and didn't come back for scheduled tour. Not sure if the hours changed after COVID and they never changed the signs or website. Would have loved to learn more on a tour :(
Tina O — Google review
We enjoyed our visit today to Gamble Plantation. The location was educating and fun. We walked around and explored the property. We did not go in as tours aren't open Sunday. We still had fun. Very pretty location. Thank you.

A most beautiful architectural masterpiece. See the museum prior to going on the tour. It would be worthwhile if both the museum and tour guide spent a bit more time detailing the lives of the 160 unfortunate souls who did not want to be on the plantation (the slaves). The tour lasted half an hour. Although curt almost to the point of being rude, the tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the building. Remember to tip your tour guide!

In early February we made a visit to Gamble Plantation on a Saturday. We were the only visitors there at the 10AM tour so were given a private tour by the ranger. He did a really great job explaining the rooms and the history of the area. Our kids, 15, 12, 10 enjoyed seeing the home and did not find the tour boring. I would come back if in the area with others who had not been before. We packed a picnic lunch and enjoyed that on the grounds under the covered picnic area.

Beautiful historical place, the only surviving plantation house in South Florida. The tour was great, we learned a lot and It is only $6. The house is beautiful, the yard is so green and well maintained. The museum is at the entrance, very interesting. Nice place to walk around...

Only surviving sugar plantation in S Florida. Beautiful green grounds. Plenty of parking and no entrance fee. Large picnic area. The Bldg was closed for a tour, so could not see the interiors of the antebellum mansion but enjoyed the rocking chairs on the porch!
