We went to the beach on the day that Hurricane Helenes outer bands started coming in. Of course, the beach was empty. This made for an awesome shelling experience! We were hoping to go in the water, but it was already riled up! We stayed until the rain started. What a beautiful beach!
Lori G — Google review
Beautiful beach with clear water, tons of shells, not crowded at all. You do have to pay $6 to enter (toll) and $3 to park. There were only portable toilets-seems like they are doing a bit of construction.
Ingrid C — Google review
Beautiful beach, clear water, nice sand, great atmosphere, respectful people around, not noise people! LOVE THIS BEACH
Will P — Google review
What a heavenly beach. Absolutely beautiful. Nice clean bathrooms are available. Not very crowded. I tried fishing here and had an absolutely great time. I caught lots of small fish and I cought my first pompano (and it was a keeper) very exciting.
Brandon C — Google review
Not a good beach for families with little ones. There’s a big drop off, broken shells are abundant and the day we went anyways, the sea was rough. We did see fish even in the little ways we went in. However, water wasn’t as clear as I was expecting from all the hype we heard about this area. (Went mid October) No manatees or any other wildlife. Church was closed, lighthouse museum was open, but didn’t go in as we were all in our bathing suits. Did find 2 Sharks teeth without digging around & son’s picked up some larger whole shells. Entry fee and small parking fee. This time of year, all senior citizens at the beach except for us. Lots of people fishing from the beach however didn’t see anyone catch anything.

If you have littles, please read my review :) 6/12/2023 UPDATE: Since Ian happened last summer, this beach has lost a lot of sand. The beach is much narrower and the drop off at the front isn't as deep but now the water level is a bit deeper than it was las summer. My sone is now turning 4 in August and the water was a bit deeper on him. It's still nice and I got to see a manatee again this year and that was so exciting !! Original: This beach is pretty quiet and just relaxing! We were a little bit north of where the pinned Boca Grande Pass spot is (aroung the 5th street entrance) but I just want to review the beach as I saw some say it wasn't kid friendly 😁 it's a narrow but nice. The sand is a bit shelly but bareable being barefoot. The current isn't bad at all and the waves come in at an angle. I have a almost 3 year old and he loved the fact he could walk out probably 30 feet from the shore and still stand on his own (its knee to hip deep about 50 feet out I would guess). The waves weren't too bad and he did really well for his first ocean trip! There is a slight drop (maybe a foot or less) at the very beginning and the shelly sand ends at the sea kelp line (you can see it in the photos). Just on the other side there was just pure soft sand. I even saw a manatee and was so happy I got to see one 😁😁 Thanks for reading my review and hope you have a great beach day!
Sarah F — Google review
One my favorite beaches! It’s beautiful and clean! There are manatees that swim around this area so be on the lookout! I’ve heard manatees are friendly though. Unfortunately there aren’t any wash station around. There are portable potties. Before getting to the island there is a $6 toll but we’ll worth the trip!

Stump Pass Beach State Park Manasota Key Florida $3 to get in small parking lot well secluded and so many shells...well worth it! Definitely do-able again and again!! If I lived here I would come here 3-4 times a week! The water was gorgeous and we saw some dolphins playing in the water! There might have been 40 people spread out here at this beach...so gorgeous w my cousin Shari
Lisa B — Google review
Awesome spot! There was a huge amount of shells from the recent storm. It was like 3 feet deep. There's shark teeth all over but you gotta figure out what to look for or you'll miss them. We saw a dolphin here and lots of birds. My son found a ton of sea slugs and baby fish. Very family friendly and peaceful. I'd recommend this spot!!
Bree K — Google review
Beautiful area. Heard they are planning to fill in an area caused by hurricane Milton making access to tip of Stump Pass. Let nature be natural I say!
Janice — Google review
The staff was amazing 😍! Beautiful State Park, get there early and get in line for parking. Remember parking is limited and a privilege. Show courtesy and patience; some of us save up all year to take our family 20 minutes away.. We know it's not far. We live here year round and love our visitors; love us back ❤️. Thank you 😊
Frona Q — Google review
It's the most beatific beach in Florida! The sand and water were perfect. Great spot for shells.
Arlena H — Google review
Stump Pass is a nice beach. The parking area is small so if you don't get there early you might not be able to park. However, it also means it's not very crowded. The beach is on a sandbar area and on one side there were jellies swimming about. The staff there are super friendly and helpful and we found some really nice shells.
Kami G — Google review
One of the best kept not so secret beaches in the area. After the hurricane milton they had to move a lot of sand before they opened again, now its open and beautiful. Still under development in some parts but overall a great beach spot.

Manasota Key Beach is a stunning public beach in Englewood, offering a wide expanse of sandy shoreline surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and trails. Developed for public use in the 1960s, this beach provides a serene alternative to more crowded areas nearby. Visitors can enjoy swimming, fishing, and sunbathing along the beautiful Gulf of Mexico coastline.
Our stay at this beach exceeded expectations. The sand is very clean, the sea water is crystal clear, and the area is well maintained. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing, making it easy to enjoy the sound of the waves. We also appreciated that the beach was not overcrowded, which allowed us to find a quiet spot. This location is ideal both for family vacations and for romantic walks along the shore. We would be happy to return again. 🌊☀️

I came to look for Shark's teeth and I was a bit lost in finding parking. I took a chance and parked next to the public parking area that is fenced off due to hurricane damage. The beach was nice and I managed to sift through the sand. I didn't find any Shark's teeth but it was nice to have the sea breeze blow on my face and have a nice beach day by myself. The water was beautiful and only wish I could wear. The only problem is finding parking but other than that it was a beautiful day and place to visit.
Melomar 2 — Google review
This is one of my favorite places in the United States. It's so serene and chill and beautiful! The community is wonderful!! Hopefully, the town and beach dont get bought up by developers since they've experienced 3 major hurricanes in the past 3 years. It would be such a shame if this low key, quiet oceanside area turned into another expensive dirty tourist area. It is really a very special place!!!
Nicolá _ — Google review
Really nice beach. Plenty of parking. Was kinda crowded for a weekday but snowbirds are starting to show up. Lots of families shark tooth hunting. We were looking at all the beaches in the Venice area. We did stop at Shark Frenzy too. Looks like the area is still recovering from the hurricanes last year. Lots of damage south on the road the beach is on.
Greg L — Google review
Beautiful beach. Warm and mostly clear water. Fishing from the shore was steady all day. Head a little to the south when you enter the beach and it’s less busy. Plenty of parking and clean restrooms. Lots of shark teeth as well!
Nick K — Google review
Really like going to this place find a lot of sharks teeth. Also can see where the turtles come in to lay their eggs and go back out to the sea. Went in May.
Kevin E — Google review
Great shells and shark teeth if you’re willing to forage. Didn’t have a problem with parking when we went on weekdays.
Isabel P — Google review
Great beach, very clean. Bring your scoops and sifters to find shark teeth! You don't even have to get in the water, sift right from your chair.

Caspersen Beach

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Beachcombing for shells & sharks’ teeth is a popular activity on this rugged stretch of coastline.
Closed due to hurricane damage. Even had a sheriff out there blocking access. Bathrooms closed. Showers closed. No water. Road washed away. Debris all over and the walkways are just annihilated by the hurricanes. Sad. Careful with kids wear shoes/foot protection. Hurricane took all the teeth. Zero shark teeth anywhere :).
Brandon — Google review
Beautiful black sand beach with tons of shells, and if you're lucky, shark teeth! They aren't just laying around, you'll want to bring a bucket or strainer to sift through the shells & sand.
Bollens — Google review
Always love it here it's not cool the road is still closed but still able to get to beaches and find teeth
Eiler N — Google review
This is my favorite beach n florida! I am an actual born and raised Floridian and still enjoy this spot. But if you have children (or a weak stomach) beware of walking too far south down the beach. The naked old and weird will come out of the tree lines. Some are harmless other than the obvious, but there are a few mouthy ones who think they are entitled to be there naked and you shouldn't be there. I was cursed out with my husband for stopping to find shark teeth in a spot that they were hiding when we arrived then descended down on us 100% naked. The upside of this beach are the amazing amount of fossils you will find. Especially if you know what to look for. Check it out for sure. Just be mindful of how far south you stray.
Heather B — Google review
I’ve heard in Heaven the streets are paved with Gold-at this beach the streets are paved with sharks teeth! You literally shower off standing on shark teeth. The beaches are pristine and the sand is like powdered sugar. Bring a kitchen strainer and prepare for a day of exploration of finding your own treasures. You won’t be disappointed. Check out my Podcast for more hard hitting truth.
Hammer N — Google review
A pristine beach located off the beaten path with plenty of spots to claim a peaceful day. A long walk if your planning to come without a boat, There is a ferry that takes people back and fourth from the South Venice yacht club. Found lots of shark teeth and the sand was blazing hot. Make sure you have some adequate sun protection.
Patrick I — Google review
I went on Sunday morning and there were over 2 dozen people sifting through the beach looking for sharks teeth. They were spread out the whole length of the beach (over 2 miles ). The sand is fine and is not rocky except for shells in various amounts throughout. It isn't too busy and has plenty of space so you don't have to be on top of other people. Great place to take the kids or to relax without a lot of hassle around you. Free parking is great.
Charles T — Google review
One of the lesser known beaches of the area, but if you know of shark teeth then you definitely know of Caspersen! This beach is so fun because it’s so unique- there are lots of rocks right along the shore like and a huge walkway across the sand, making for some great views! There are lots of shells to be found, not even just shark teeth but a large array of other conchs, scallops and really good ones! If you want to find teeth, though, I suggest you bring either a rake or some kind of straining/ scooping element because otherwise they are super difficult to find. You also need to find the right spot, so if you’re not finding any, keep on moving and don’t give up! Caspersen also has some bathrooms and rinse stations, but beware of parking because it can get tough- so great there EARLY or get there late- the in between may have you driving around quite a bit!

The day we decided to go, there were a bazillion people, it seemed. Can't go to the end due to hurricane damage, which is understandable! Still great views.

Caught some fish. All the amenities were closed. No bait no snacks. Half the pier is closed off. At least it looked like it was being repaired. Good place to toss in a line.

Venice Fishing Pier This pier is kin of cool. It has a bait shop, Fish Cleaning Stations, Fishing Rod Holders, and Benches throughout the Pier. This Pier had some work done it after the hurricanes and its safe and easy to walk on. It’s free to walk out on it and the views are spectacular. While we were out on it, we saw a Dolphin playing in the surf. This pier is a great place for pictures, and we took plenty of then. One end of this pier starts at Sharky’s Restaurant and ends with lots of Fishing spots. You can walk from one end to the other easily. Make sure you take a walk out on this pier just for pics. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Follow me On FB For More Reviews & Fun Gulf Coast Terry

Seafood restaurant
Sharky's On the Pier is a renowned beachfront restaurant located in Venice, Florida. Since its establishment in 1987, it has been a popular dining destination offering a seafood-heavy menu and refreshing drinks from its tiki bar. Situated at the base of the Venice Fishing Pier with stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico, Sharky's provides an unforgettable dining experience. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner daily, with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays until 11 p.m.
We had a good all around experience at Sharky’s. From the beach atmosphere to the very accommodating and friendly staff. The place was clean and has plenty of seating. I had the rice bowl with gulf shrimp and it was very tasty. The shrimp I had grilled and they were tasty. Everything was fresh. My wife had the rice bowl with blackened chicken and she said it was on point. It is right on the beach so it’s totally convenient. We dined 6/6/25.

Never Disappoints! A Venice Beach Favorite Sharky's on the Pier is hands-down my family's favorite spot whenever we're in Venice Beach. It's the perfect mix of great food, a laid-back coastal vibe, and consistently friendly service. On our most recent visit, we were lucky to have Rachel as our server--she was incredibly sweet and attentive. I was torn on which frozen drink to try, and without me even asking, Rachel and the bartenders offered me samples of all their frozen drinks, even recommending some of their personal favorite combos. It was such a thoughtful touch, and every drink was super refreshing! As for the food--our go-to appetizers are the lobster & artichoke dip and the onion rings, both always spot on. For my entrée, I never stray from the grilled salmon rice bowl. It's a solid 10/10 every single time. They also run great weekly specials on fresh lobster and other seafood, which makes it even better. The recent renovations have taken the atmosphere up a notch--it's even more enjoyable than before (and it was already great). Whether you're a local or just visiting, Sharky's never disappoints. We're always excited to come back

Came with family, food was amazing as was our server. However, we were meeting them halfway so we went to see if we can reserve the table that had enough seats for the 7 of us and they said they prefer if our entire party was here. About 10 min later our party was fully there and the table we wanted had one lady holding it for the rest of her party which isn’t fair to us because we were told we couldn’t do that. Then they seat us at a table with sun after we requested shade, and when we reminded her again and politely asked if we could sit a few tables away, the girl who was seating us had an attitude and a face and didn’t say anything and just put our menus down and walked away. Not the best service, except our server was very nice. It was almost a perfect visit for our first time here.
Emani P — Google review
I had an amazing experience here! I ordered the grapefruit old fashioned which was perfectly balanced and refreshing, and the sushi with lobster was outstanding. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. Definitely a spot I’d come back to!
Andrew G — Google review
This place was fantastic! We had been on the beach all day and wanted a frozen drink but didn’t know what to get so they offered us a sampler (for free) to taste their frozen drinks and decide which one we liked best(yes they had alcohol) the calamari was fantastic! They have inside and outside seating, rockers to sit in and have drinks and look at the ocean. They also had live entertainment. Definitely going back!
Lynn C — Google review
We visited Sharky’s twice during our stay in Venice, and both times were fantastic! The drinks are amazing — perfectly mixed and full of flavor. On our first visit, we had the tuna nachos and they were outstanding. The second time we tried the seafood nachos loaded with shrimp and lump crab — absolutely delicious! The service both times was excellent, and the bartenders were friendly, funny, and made the experience even better. Sitting by the bar with that view of the pier and ocean just can’t be beat. This place is a must-stop when visiting Venice. Great food, great drinks, and even better vibes — and yes, I did find shark teeth on the beach afterward! 🦈🌅

Peace River Wildlife Center-Education Center

Wildlife refuge
Outdoor Activities
The Peace River Wildlife Center-Education Center is a local refuge and rehabilitation facility that offers educational tours to the public. Located in Ponce de Leon Park, it overlooks the Charlotte Harbor and is surrounded by mangroves. The non-profit center specializes in rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing native Florida wildlife, with over 2,000 small animals and birds cared for annually. Additionally, it provides a permanent home for nearly 200 animals unable to return to their natural habitats.
This is a small facility, but is still wonderful and worth a visit. There are many different types of birds to see, as well as a few other animals. It is free, but donations are appreciated. When was the last time anything was free? 😁 Staff was available to share information and answer questions. They were all very friendly and seemed to really love their job and helping their guests learn more about their animals and mission. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to visiting again.
Terri C — Google review
Very wonderful place to go. Only $10 for a recommended admission donation and they truly take wonderful care of their animals. We saw Jaxon the opossum eat and we saw the bald eagle chirping. Wonderful place and very friendly and educated people there ready for any questions and wonders!
Sylvia P — Google review
I really loved this place when I visited for the first time. I came down to Florida from Missouri and was really interested in something wildlife based to visit that 1. Didn't cost very much (this is perfect because there is no entrance fee, they only ask they you make a donation if you can. There is suggested amounts to donate, but no one is there twisting your arm) and 2. Didn't require much hiking to see cool things. It was quite hot and sunny the day we visited so it was nice that it was in more of an urban setting. I want to start by reminding anyone that this whole place is pretty much run by volunteers! They are super awesome people, very knowledgeable, and incredibly generous to dedicate their time to the care of all of the animals. For review purposes: I will warn anyone with children or a large party that it isn't the biggest place. It is a single walkway with animals and information on both sides. It is NOT air conditioned, but partially shaded. There is a small gift shop that IS air conditioned which is a wonderful break from the heat. There are not bathrooms in the facility, but there are the park bathrooms outside. While it isn't a "premium" experience, you get what you didn't have to pay for. If you really love wildlife, rehabilitation, and general education then it is a nice little place to visit. The gift shop had quite a few things I was happy to buy lol.
Kayla M — Google review
This sanctuary has such beautiful animals, friendly staff and a great setup in general. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and gave a great presentation on Halloween. We saw lots of birds but there are a few furry friends as well! The gift shop has a ton of fun and cute items for a good price. If you’re in the area this place is the perfect place to stop.
Kore — Google review
I really enjoy coming here with my wife to check up on the critters, but I am extremely concerned about what will be done with the land after the move to the new facility. It is my understanding that a developer wishes to come in and build on Ponce de Leon Park. People need to wake up and get vocal! Nobody wants more condos!! We want our beautiful nature!
Daniel C — Google review
Great people working there pretty educational and friendly. My daughter and us were so happy about the explanations the workers provide. It's really good and you learn a lot about what they do and how good they take care of the animals.

Families can explore the well-labeled nature trails, visit the planetarium and museum, observe wildlife in butterfly and bird aviaries, and enjoy picnic sites. The center hosts educational activities such as live animal presentations and movies in the planetarium. Visitors can learn about native species' environments and adaptations through exhibits featuring live animals.
What a great find!! My kids ages 3-9 visited and we saw and learned about so many new creatures. Nice nature walk and friendly staff. They even had a little terrarium for a jumping spider! The kids truly enjoyed that they could touch a lot of things like snake skins, shells of many different kinds, manatee teeth, turtle shells. Areas for kids to play with puzzles and toys and microscopes too! The planetarium was also very neat and my kids enjoyed the show about the solar system and brains! I definitely used this as my homeschool education! So much to learn and sad we don't live closer!

I was actually pretty disappointed in this nature center. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it definitely needs help. I understand that they are still being repaired after the hurricane. There were unused exhibit spaces, and things on display without any information. The Calusa section on the indigenous folks of the area seemed really slapped together. I loved seeing the birds of prey, but really wished they had more information on them. Like their story? Why are they there? The butterfly exhibit was sad. There were like 5 butterflies. And surprised they didn’t have double doors to help reduce escapees. Information was quite scarce everywhere, tbh. It was unfortunate that I was there during a yearly maintenance time when the big trail loop was closed for fire suppression practices. I went late morning on a Friday and just got there in time for a school field trip to be leaving.

This gem of natural science and planetarium is a great visit for kids and adults. Inside tha main building, one finds several live and stuffed animals with live turtles, baby owls, Baby alligators and several stuffed deer, and others. We enjoyed seeing live snakes. The outdoor butterfly garden offered several butterflies and native plants. The center offers 2 trails, one of 0.3 miles and another over a mile. We didn't see the one big outdoor alligator today The planetarium offers 2 shows daily and 3 on Sunday. The enthusiast young man in the planetarium offered a tour of all the exhibits. The outdoor trail is a nice walk except on hot summer days. Accessible restrooms in main building and planetarium. Accessible van parking in free parking lot with shells on ground and ramps to enter

If you have a rainy weekend and are looking for something to do, the Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium is an inexpensive and enjoyable visit where the kids might even learn a little something. The newly renovated Planetarium has super comfortable seating and the new projection system is truly remarkable. In between Planetarium shows they offer animal experience shows where the kids can get up close and personal with anything from a turtle, snake, or even a baby gator. The rustic trails are short but can provide some quiet time in between programs. Pretty easy to spend the day.. they don't offer any food, but there is a large covered area with plenty of tables for sack lunches or snack time. Always enjoyable.

Visited on a Saturday. The parking lot was full, but once inside it didn’t feel crowded. Everyone was spread out on the premises which made it really comfortable to navigate the grounds. The staff was friendly and informative. Admission was $13 for adults and $7 for kids. The nature center had a nice variety of animals. The scheduled events added to the experience. We caught a talk on snakes and alligators and also saw a show in the Planetarium. There are several trails to walk, a butterfly garden and plenty of outdoor rest areas with benches and tables. Overall, a nice experience.

Really nice spot to spend a few hours learning and exploring. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and you can tell they care about the animals and the place itself. The planetarium show was fun and educational great for both kids and adults. The trails were peaceful and not too long, and we enjoyed seeing the rescued birds and reptiles up close. Some areas could use a little updating, but overall it’s a great local gem worth checking out if you’re in Fort Myers.

Everyone was friendly and helpful answering any questions. They were doing a class on animals such as Alligators, etc.. They also had a Planetarium show, but we were leaving before it started.

Best fleamarket in the area. A must visit if you love bargain hunting. From the putside it looks a little intimidating with barbed wire fending, but it was safe and fun. All of the vendors are very friendly. It was very hot the day we went (heat index of 105) and it was tolerable to walk around because they have large open spaces and fans everywhere. We went on a Friday and a lot of vendors were closed, but still enough to be enjoyable. It was not crowded at all. Will definitely return on future visits to Fort Myers.

Amazing dedication to all our brave veterans and soldiers that have defended this country so valiantly. If you are in the area, it’s a great place to stop for a little while to honor these amazing souls. We planted 25,000 flags for Memorial Day. It was a privilege and honor. 🙏🏼🇺🇸

Riding up to my grandfathers' burial was a sight to see. It's extremely gorgeous. When we began walking to the grave site we noticed that the workers had already begun to bury his ashes. Our family was surprised by this because they were under the impression that they could say their last goodbyes. About 15 minutes later we were sharing our memories, and a worker came by, stopped us to "verify" his grave. This was very disappointing. Our family was hurt and found that disrespectful. I do hope they treat the family of other veterans better than this.

My family and I want to express our profound gratitude to the staff at The Sarasota National Cemetery. On Thursday, we laid my father and his wife of over 40 years to rest, fulfilling his wish to be buried in a military cemetery as a proud veteran. From my very first phone call to the conclusion of the ceremony, the entire process was handled with remarkable efficiency and genuine kindness. The staff's professionalism and care provided great comfort during a difficult time, and we are grateful for a truly flawless experience.

Visited Sarasota National Cemetery. Very moving experience. Came to visit a family member who served us in WWII. Absolutely beautiful grounds. There are 295 acres, which will serve veterans for the next the next 50 years. They are working on a large pavilion in the center, called Patriot Plaza. When I stopped at the visitor center, a lovely lady came right up to me and help me identify where my family member was and how to get there. She gave a detailed map and made sure I understood it.

Celery Fields is a stunning natural spot in Sarasota, Florida, offering a serene environment for nature enthusiasts. It's an ideal place to witness the twice-yearly migration of wild birds and enjoy the company of family and friends amidst beautiful flora and fauna. The park provides various activities such as walking, running, biking, and hiking with its well-maintained paths. Visitors can also relax under a gazebo across the street while observing wildlife like alligators and swamp rabbits.
Best place to nature walk, the bunnies are out around 7pm! My favorite sunset view from the hill. Back years ago this was a celery farm and the dirt that the celery was grown in was moved and made into the hill. There is still wild celery there. Beautiful place and if your into bird watching, this location has the biggest variety of species in the area due to their nesting routines. The famous White Pelicans also frequent here and during bouts of red tide on the coast, their cousins the Brown Pelicans will join them inland. I saw a coral snake there the other day and Bald Eagles and Ospreys are also regular visitors. Enjoy!

Great place for a walk or run. Pretty large area and never really crowded. Plenty of parking and nice restrooms. You can go straight up the big hill when you start, or there is a less steep trail on the left.

Great place to walk your dog and enjoy nature. Perfect birding spot. Public restrooms are near the parking lot. The Audubon area is at the bottom of the hill and has a short walkway through butterfly gardens and bird feeding spots. The walk up the hill takes you around the top to the backside and back down. There are views of animals in the Big Cat Sanctuary from the right side. Across the street there is a boardwalk where you can photograph Spoonbills if you are lucky.

The staff is known for being friendly, and the sanctuary offers more than just big cats, including lions, tigers, bears, and various other animals. The sanctuary emphasizes that rehomed animals were not necessarily abused in the past.
This place exceeded our expectations! They had so many animals. The animals were great to watch. You can feed them and had encounters with them. Watch the show with the VP there. He's not only very entertaining but very educational, explaining their conservation efforts and how they are helping these animals. We will certainly be back. I highly recommend for anyone of all ages.

We had such a fantastic time at Big Cat Habitat in Sarasota! The sanctuary is full of amazing animals—tigers, lions, bears, and even lemurs—and we could get really close to them in a safe, fun way. The tiger show was absolutely incredible! Watching those majestic tigers up close, showing off their strength and agility, was definitely the highlight of the day. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable, and they really make the experience exciting for everyone. We also loved the interactive parts, like feeding some of the animals and seeing them play—it made the visit feel so personal and memorable. The grounds are well-kept, there’s a cute little café, and the gift shop has some fun stuff too. If you love animals and want an up-close experience you won’t forget, this place is a must-see. We can’t wait to come back!

I recently went to the Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary near Sarasota, and it was awesome! It's a really cool place with tons of different animals. Of course, they have amazing big cats, including the super cool ligers! These huge cats are a mix of a lion and a tiger, and they're truly a sight to see. But it's not just about the big cats. You'll see playful monkeys, big bears, and all kinds of colorful birds. It's clear that this place gives a safe and happy home to animals that need it. What I Liked Most I really liked learning about the animals. It's not just looking at them; you get to hear their stories and understand where they come from. You also learn why it's so important to protect animals and their homes. The people who work there really care about the animals, and you can tell! Should You Visit? If you love animals or just want a fun day out with your family, the Big Cat Habitat is a perfect spot. It's a great way to see some incredible creatures and help out a good cause. I definitely recommend going!

Amazing experience again, in fact even better than the first one 5 years ago. The 2 o’clock show was ok but no only lemurs, snakes and gators. Would have Ben nice to see some felines but it was very interesting to learn some more about these animals. Feeding the bears and the tiger was a huge hit for us (2 adults & 2 teens). The small petting zoo is always cool and the section with other animals (birds, monkeys, etc.) is always nice. They have a lot of felines and they were pretty active even with the heat. Feeding time close to closing time was impressive. Definitely a must go if you’re in the area.

If you’re in the Sarasota area i recommend visiting this wild life habitat. You get very up close and personal with the animals. Large selection of big cats and bears as well as other animals. All animals are well kept and fed. Staff and super nice and friendly and answer all your questions.

Good place to go with the kids or just for adults. They have little zoo with different animals and big cats show, which was pretty cool. I believe there is birds show also, but we didn’t have a chance to see it.

Cool experience! Awesome to see the animals up close! But could do without the politically driven commentary during the tiger show. It’s a bit over the top and ruins the experience.

Loved this place! I know it’s controversial but all I saw was well taken care of animals in clean, adequate environments/ cages comparable to top zoos like Columbus Zoo in Ohio. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. It was awesome to be able to see the cats up close. We really enjoyed our time here. We didn’t stay for any of the shows so I cannot comment on that. The museum is a testament to one man's lifelong passion for classic cars, featuring not only vintage automobiles but also a gift shop and a retro diner called the Stingray Bar and Grill. Additionally, visitors can enjoy monthly car shows and flea markets where car enthusiasts gather to display their vehicles and trade car-related items.
Muscle Car City was amazing and worth the trip and the entry fee. I could have spent the entire day here viewing the incredible display of automotive history. If you are a General Motors fan, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Cadillac this is the place to visit. I was impressed by the inventory of cars and by the meticulous care and overall presentation. They have plenty of cars to view but also have signs, gas pumps and other items of automotive history. There was something new every time I looked closer. I intend on visiting again. The entry fee is reasonable and they offer an annual membership too. There is also a classic style diner on-site for breakfast and lunch. The Military Heritage Museum, situated near Fishermens Village in Punta Gorda, Florida, offers over seventeen square feet of exhibits and activities. It provides a diverse range of ways for visitors to learn about the connections between civilians and the U.S. military branches through displays, libraries, movies, lectures, and a hands-on flight simulator. The museum features three galleries covering American history from the Revolution to modern conflicts.
Honors those who served, covered many conflicts and the people who served. Large library, multiple dioramas, models, and speakers (changes - so it may be different when you get there.) Don't miss the flight simulator or virtual reality head sets and laser shooting range. It's not real big, on 2 floors, elevator was out, stairs only. I would highly recommend going, but you'd have to go multiple times to read read everything.

It's one of the best military museums i've been to. Great collection of badges, insignia, medals, and uniforms as well. Covers all eras starting from the American Revolutionary War, but also has a Spanish Conquistador section from early Florida. The staff is very helpful and friendly and they have a great gift shop. There is a large room that honors the Purple Heart and the Medal of Honor recipients. It has a few outside displays as well.

Nice way to spend an afternoon if you like military history. Plenty to see and lots of memorabilia and historical artifacts. If you have anyone in your family like grandpa that served in the military like a Vietnam Veteran he really like this place. Takes about an hour to hour and a half to walk through and their simulations for flight and there are laser target practice ranges. All all pretty good I’d recommend this place.

Great for kids! Airboat tour with gators, birds, wild pigs in sight. Tram ride with excellent description of flora, fauna, and history. Great restaurant and gift shop. Camping facilities look nice and we'll kept. Many opportunities for walks and bicycle rides.

Excellent camp ground for youth scout camping and to the looks of it great for family camping. Gas stations within 15 min drive for ice and other things along with a Walmart about 20 minutes away. Great roads for bike rides and also plenty of good views with alot of alligator sitings. Make the 1 hr trip to peace river if you can and dig for some fossils when the water is low!

Wonderful campground with plenty of space.
Tim R — Google review
The campsite was huge and well cleared with plenty of flat spots for tents; the water out of the spigot was delicious and clean and didn't have that standard Florida sulfur taste; the state park staff was extremely accommodating and helpful; and the site was secluded from other campers. Overall, a fantastic experience!

Manatee Park

Park
Nature & Parks
Manatee Park is a waterfront park in Fort Myers that offers trails, an amphitheater, and kayak rentals. It's a great spot to see families of manatees swimming up a tributary between December and February. The park provides up-close views of these jumbo creatures and is especially popular during the cooler months. Additionally, visitors can explore the Six-Mile Cypress Slough Preserve, which features a 1.
This was a GREAT experience! Park for $5, reserved out kayaks online and followed the signs to the tour desk. Gentleman manning the desk checked us in, showed us a map, was friendly and accommodating to our group of 7. Then we walked down to 2 galas who helped us get in our kayaks—friendly, informative, and really great getting us settled. Off we went to kayak the river and enjoy the day! We got an 11am reservation, saw some manatees, but my parents have been here before and suggested to go at the early time slot—we couldn’t get the teenagers up🤪. When we unloaded the gals in the water were more than helpful and friendly again. Great experience, we will be back!
Krystal W — Google review
Beautiful space to walk and learn about wild life, explore and learn from locals! Gift shop was cute! Easy and low cost parking ($2 an hour via parking meter), bathrooms were accessible. It was very clear on website there were no recent manatee sightings due to the time of year and weather so it was confusing why some families were so disappointed about not seeing any. This is a wildlife park and there are no captive animals here, that doesn't take away from the natural beauty and also spotting tiny lizards, butterflies and enjoying the water! Many benches and picnic tables available!
Sara G — Google review
It was such a beautiful park. We were hoping to see Manatees but we only had an hour to spare before our flight. The nature walk was so beautiful and relaxing!
Heather D — Google review
Always a favorite place of ours to stop at. Although there were no Manatees here today, it is an awesome park to stroll through and take in all that it has to offer. When you hit the timing right, the Manatees are everywhere! Nice little boardwalk that takes you out and onto the River. Plenty of parking and a small 2$ fee to stay per hour.
Randy M — Google review
Such a beautiful place to sit by and look at the water. My son and I come here when it's cold- because the manatees are attracted to the heat from the power plant across the way, so they migrate there for warmth. I highly suggest stopping by and supporting your local parks!
V. G — Google review
Pretty park, looked fun to kayak in but the water was too dark to really watch the manatees unless they popped up for air.. also had to pay per hr for parking. The gift shop was small and packed with people but we found a nice magnet. Not sure if I’ll be back, But it was a nice day. I did find it humorous that it’s a “no dogs allowed” park and everyone had dogs there. Lol should just allow them.
Mars — Google review
We came to kayak this time. We have been there in January before and there were literally thousands of manatees. This time, in November, it was quiet. They need to clean up the mangroves between the launch and the orange river…we almost didn’t make it through (we found a tiny opening just big enough for the kayak while ducking under branches). Beautiful day. Great place to kayak. We have kayaked with the manatees in Jan/Feb and I highly recommend it! They are so playful.
K B — Google review
We saw many manatees from land about 11 AM late Dec. You can get up pretty close. Free, minutes parking fee. You also have the option to rent kayaks on either a guided tour or DIY (additional charges, life jackets provided). Gift shop. Neat nature trail with habitat restoration efforts, lizards and snakes. Sometimes the manatees will bump your kayak, so plan accordingly with keys, phone, kids, etc. Go!

Babcock Ranch Preserve is a vast conservation area that boasts breathtaking landscapes and offers an array of outdoor activities, such as hiking, fishing, hunting, and camping. This nature preserve covers more than 73,000 acres of land and features stunning natural beauty that is a must-see for tourists visiting the area. Visitors can take in the sights while enjoying delicious food from the snack shop or browsing souvenirs in the gift shop.
This was so much fun! The extended family will enjoy the Babcock Ranch Eco Tour. It's a very good price for 90 minutes of entertainment and education. We saw lots of animals from "the buggy", a converted school bus. Several groups of animals came running enthusiastically for the corn the driver threw out to them. Lot's of great photo opportunities and ALLIGATORS!

we have been twice on the eco tour and loved it! alligator bridge and the baby boars were highlights…also a horse rolling around on its back! such cool animal facts.

Had a very nice hike this morning at Babcock ranch preserve. With the exception of the very beginning part where you leave the car to trail entrance and trail ending, the entire trail was in shaded Forest. It was completely dry when I was there.I love the little placards along the way that explain what kind of ecosystem you're in, it's nice to see all the different ones that are there. This is my kind of place, lots of shade, trees, wildflowers, bird songs

Wonderful tour! Camry was an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide who made it a fun and interesting tour! Saw lots of wildlife including alligators, raccoons, deer, wild pigs, cows, bulls and a variety of birds. The changing terrain was very interesting and we learned a lot about the Florida eco system as we traveled through swampy areas, fields etc. Highly recommend this 90 minute green bus tour - we thoroughly enjoyed it!

Heard Opera House is a captivating destination that beautifully blends history with modern recreational use. While the once-popular vinyl record collection has moved on, visitors can still explore a few vintage records in the antique store downstairs. This building not only serves as an arts hub but also houses an impressive antique shop where you can uncover unique treasures and enjoy helpful service from the owner. The surrounding area is brimming with charming restaurants and additional antique shops, making it perfect for a leisurely afternoon stroll.
My family and I absolutely LOVE the Heard Opera House and the many cute shops upstairs. They are constantly doing amazing family-friendly events and are a must-see place where we take our family and friends who visit from out of town. I'm so thankful to have such an awesome place in our small town. These two photos are from the live music they had after their second annual Paracon event.

I have been here four times for a paranormal investigation and this review is long overdue. The owners are very kind and genuine, care about the Opera House and want to protect the historical heritage of the property. We love investigating here and this is an amazing place for spiritual activity. We will definitely be back again!

Nestled in the serene woods of Florida, Solomon's Castle is a remarkable creation that showcases the artistic vision of its late builder, Howard Solomon. This impressive medieval-style castle is constructed primarily from recycled materials and features an array of stunning metal sculptures and wood block paintings that reflect Solomon's genius. Visitors can explore various galleries filled with his artwork while also enjoying a delightful meal at the Boat-in-the-Moat restaurant, which offers both indoor and outdoor dining options.
It was great. The castle is made of scraps & other people's "junk". Howard Solomon was a genius. I do recommend it. The food at their restaurant was great. The castle is closed on Monday then August 1 and reopens October 1. It is out in the middle of nowhere though.
Vickie P — Google review
This is really a unique place to visit. We bought the package deal which included a tour of the castle, which was filled with unique objects made by Solomon, and a tour of Solomon's later creations and his antique car collection. Our tour was led by "Uncle Jimmy," who was entertaining and quite knowledgeable. It was quite an interesting experience and well worth the $39 per ticket that included both tours. Afterwards, we enjoyed lunch at their on-site restaurant, The Boat on the Moat. The food was good as well, and my wife and I enjoyed our excursion to Solomon's Castle very much. It was well worth the time and money.
James K — Google review
Absolutely loved it. Mr Solomon was an amazing artist. All his art is created from other people's trash. I can't begin to describe all the beautiful art in the castle which was also his home. Definitely worth a visit if you are a lover of all things creative. There are 2 small restaurants on the grounds and the food was very good. No inside photos are allowed so I will share my beautiful outside photos.
Judy D — Google review
Was a whole surprise and definitely well worth it. Great staff, Good food and an exquisite ambiance surrounded by nature and the magic of Solomon’s art. We’re repeating again for sure. Highly recommended.

WOW! You could tour this place over and over and still not see everything! The guides are knowledgeable and friendly. This is a one-of-a-kind experience. See the genius artistry of a creative mind who "made stuff" by recycling trash to treasure. Don't miss this one! It's out of the way, but a beautiful drive. Plan to stay for a delicious lunch and enjoy the sweet gift shop, but bring cash; they don't take plastic.
Tina K — Google review
Nice spot will catch the museum at a later date as the tour a little more than I expected. We ate in the pirate ship . You could also eat outside or in a lighthouse. It was a cute experience and food was good and reasonably priced.

Kristee C — Google review
It is well worth the trip out there to see all the art and sculptures. It is not really a place for kids who like hands-on/interactive museums. I would suggest teens who are into art and sculpture and old cars. There is also a place to eat.

Upscale, contemporary golf resort offering chic rooms, plus 2 golf courses, a spa & stylish dining.
An amazing place out on its own in the middle of nowhere. Very peaceful and amazing golf and facilities. A great place to go for a golf getaway. Prices drop a lot in May so if you can take the heat take advantage
Dave M — Google review
Played golf only. Nice fresh available on arrival. Club drop off easy. Full bar and restaurant available. Very new and modern clubhouse. Take cart to the range. Free balls are abundant. Chipping area large and conditions are great. Take cart back to the marahalling area to meet your caddie (we had Big D) who was a character. Had a great round. However, stopped short at 17 due to lightning in the area. First class facilities and a great day out. Courses are in top notch condition. A must play set of courses.

Beautiful golf course, clean rooms friendly service. Lina at the front desk was very helpful and knowledgeable in the surrounding area.

You'll never experience something like that. Best Golf resort I have ever seen, from people, ambient to the golf courses. That should be for every golfer bucket list!!

Lovely club house. Great golf shop and clean lockers. Not really ideal to get the pro shop staff to open the locker all the time. Also, bar and restaurant is really really loud. Aside that, great sport to have a bite after golf.
Michele D — Google review
The lodging was OFF the chart! It took me a couple of days, just to take it in. But teamed up with world class golf.... Hold on. Red or Blue? Both have one of a kind greatness. Special holes that take your breath away. Black? I can't say. Equally spectacular, but to me Red or Blue. Period. I walked, with a caddie. In the future I would walk with a cart. On a personal note I don't like those old English buggy 2 wheeler. I wish they had the modern 3 wheel push carts. ( Red, Blue, black are the golf course names )

Such a great experience every time I come here. Course is in excellent condition. Love the taco stand @ the turn. "Big Country" was our caddy and he did a great job. Highly recommend every golfer comes and plays here.

The scenery is incredible, elevation changes, water hazards, wildlife, and two great courses! Service was outstanding. From the moment I stepped out of the car, the shop staff, the caddy, and the restaurant at the clubhouse, all were impressive! Can't wait to get back. Highlands Hammock State Park in Sebring is a vast park with full camping facilities, offering nine beautiful trails to explore. The Cypress Swamp Trail, originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, is a great starting point for adventure. The park features clean restrooms, a conservation museum, and opportunities for small music events. Visitors can rent bikes and enjoy walking through well-kept trails surrounded by diverse trees and plants.
Neat place to enjoy nature! Bug spray reccomended. The Cyprus trees are my favorite. Lots of trails. Saw some water snakes and wild dogs.
Tanya B — Google review
Took a walk in Highland Hammock and I’m pretty sure I met every single mosquito in Florida. Seriously — it’s like they were hosting a reunion on the trails. That said, the park is absolutely gorgeous. Shady roads lined with massive trees, peaceful trails (well-maintained for the most part), and that classic Florida swampy magic. I walked for over two hours with a friend who's training for the James Way, and the vibes were strong. Bring bug spray. Industrial strength. Maybe a flame thrower. But once you’re prepared, it’s an incredible spot to walk, train, or pretend you're in a National Geographic special.
JB B — Google review
This was a lovely park. Went on a Tuesday so there weren't many people there. You can see how the weekends would be super busy though. They have tram rides and bike rentals, camping areas, playgrounds, bike paths and walking paths. The walking trails are very well marked, clear and easy to navigate. No worries of getting lost or even off the path. The trails are all relatively short and mostly shaded. We did the entire park within a few hours. That being said, the place was beautiful. There were so many old trees and even an old growth forest area. The trees were so big and gorgeous. There was a Cyprus swamp area that felt other worldly. The one disappointment was that the catwalk was closed so our trek through the Cyprus swamp was on the main boardwalk only. We did see a lot of animals including 3 alligators, a bobcat, and lots of interesting birds. Right outside of the park we saw turkeys, cows, and some wild hogs. It's a nice place for easy peaceful walks, with restrooms, benches, and even a small shop.
Victoria V — Google review
Unfortunately, a section of the Cypress swamp trail is closed. This is one of the most beautiful parts of the park. I hope they fix it as soon as possible. The park is a real little Florida jungle. The entrance fee is $6 per car. I like it!

We’ve been coming here since we first got married and have always loved the old Florida feel of this park. Recently we returned with fat tire bikes to explore the bike trail. Even though it was hot, we had a great time. Saw several tortoises and two deer along with lots of nice scenery.

Awesome town! Wonderful walking tour of amazing murals. Definitely stop at the Chamber of Commerce to see the mural film.
Gail B — Google review
Lake Placid was originally known as Lake Stearns, named after Marcellus Stearns (1839-1891), the federal Government Surveyor General and the 11th Governor of Florida (1874-1877). In 1927, Dr. Melvil Dewey, the creator of the Dewey Decimal System, visited the area and saw its resemblance to Lake Placid, New York. He successfully campaigned to rename the town Lake Placid, envisioning it as a resort destination. Today, Lake Placid is known as the "Town of Murals" and the "Caladium Capital of the World" with four dozen murals decorating its streets and producing 98% of the world's caladium bulbs. It was even named "America's Most Interesting Town" by Reader's Digest in 2013. And if like me, you didn't know what a Caladium is, it's a tropical plant that is native to South America but thrives in warm, humid climates. The lovely town includes some local restaurants, local coffee shops, plenty of parking and friendly folks. It's an easy walk to find the murals but be sure you bring plenty of sunscreen and bug repellent. I had a great visit to Lake Placid and might return one day.
Bruce I — Google review
Lovely murals. Nothing open on Sunday?😣 Many sad tourists. Very limited restaurants, and most offer only breakfast items. 🤔 Beautiful lakes. Another sad feature:Many shops even closed Monday's, and IF they are open, only till 3:00 PM. If you enjoy walking through a " CLOSED TOWN" and viewing murals, during the DAY..NO LIGHTING AT NIGHT, you will enjoy Lake Placid.
Charlene N — Google review
The murals of Lake Placid Florida are an experience not be missed. Several recently added murals are beautiful. There are 47 historic murals, 17 one of a kind trash containers all companion pieces to the murals, and 49 bird plaques all over the business district. Come visit the Town of Murals that Reader's Digest named "America's Most Interesting Town".
Harriet P — Google review
Great example of Public Art in the Town of Murals - Lake Placid, Florida. These are just a few of the dozens of murals around town. As an owner of several rental units, land, and a home in Highlands County, I have been apart of the community since 2001. With that said, I'm still a fan of the murals and have "walked the town" each time I make it to Lake Placid. Dozens and dozens of wonderful murals – some as large as 175 by 30 feet and others filling several stories on downtown Lake Placid buildings – are painted throughout the town. Pick up a guide ($3) to these murals at the Chamber of Commerce - where there's a 10-minute video you will thoroughly enjoy - and then take a leisurely drive or casual stroll to see the story of cattle drives, of Lake Placid’s pioneers, of Native Americans who lived 10,000 years ago, of sandhill cranes and the citrus industry, and larger-than-life local residents like lady rancher Jennie Reninger who was so good with a bullwhip she could snap a cigarette out of your mouth from 10 feet away – one of the earliest anti-smoking campaigns, from what is advertised in the guide. You haven't visited Lake Placid if you don't visit the murals. Highly recommended - 5 stars and an almost free ($3 for the guide) experience. My recommendation is to walk the mural route. It's a much more enjoyable experience. /s/ William E. Lewis Jr., Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Circle B Bar Reserve, located southeast of Lakeland, is a picturesque natural area that has been restored to protect the floodplain portion of Lake Hancock. The reserve offers unpaved trails for hiking, roadways and trails for biking, and fishing opportunities along Lake Hancock. It's an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts who can spot various wildlife such as alligators, armadillos, raccoons, bobcats, and bald eagles while exploring the gently winding hiking trails.
The park is just pure nature. It has a calm and relaxed ambience about it. Gators do roam around but they're not usually in your path. Oftentimes, they're swimming on their own, which is fun to watch. There are many different paths to walk and a lot of birds and other animals to see. It can get hot, so bring liquids. Parking is kind of a nightmare. That is the one thing that makes the experience much more stressful, so get there early. Pets are not allowed here due to gators and other animals. I gave this a 5, despite the poor parking. I wasn't sure how else to rate it. They need more parking here. If I recall, there is an inside mini-museum you can check out at certain hours but most of the experience is outside on the trails with nature.
Adam P — Google review
Love the area, it is very well kept, and the people who work here are super knowledgeable about the animals, trees and wildlife. You can bring your bikes or hike through the preserve. There are wild pigs/hogs and of course gators can be found in plain sight. Being alert is especially important here but I feel that makes it a better experience. The preserve is enormous so plan on making multiple trips. F.y.i. Bring yourself plenty to drink and wear comfortable clothing. There are a lot of mosquitoes depending on the time of year so plan for that during the hotter season.
Miguel M — Google review
Ok so for the 3 star rating. Now the place is absolutely cool looking for sure plenty of hiking trails that are very well maintained and definitely what's the word photogenic or something now I could probably easily rate it 5 stars but man we were so disappointed when we went , we saw pretty much nothing as far as wildlife, no gators, otters, bobcats which we figured we wouldn't see them due to the time of day but that being said it was pretty decently sunny and in the 80s so definitely figured we'd at least see some alligators and before going when we seen reviews on Google that it was a definite Hotspot to see them so as for that it was a let down. Like I said otherwise definitely a nice scenic place and I'm sure as far as the wildlife goes some days will be better than others .
James M — Google review
Loved the scenery. Nature at its finest for sure. Loved the free parking and free entry to this place. Make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes when coming here. I learned the hard way (I had on flip flops) We got to see lots of alligators up close and personal. Saw lots of birds and even a turtle. The people visiting were very nice and repeat visitors too. The workers were very pleasant and spoke to us giving us information for future visits as far as tours etc. This was a definite work out and make sure you bring lots of water to stay hydrated when walking here !!

I love Circle B Bar Reserve. Last week we spent over $200 to go on an air boat ride to see alligators. Didn’t really see anything but a little one. Then I took them to the reserve! Such a great place to take our family from up north. My grandson saw several little guys and one huge alligator. The trails are so well kept and it just feels good to be able to walk and see such beautiful nature.

I have been visiting, working as a racetrack competition event official, and personally racing at Sebring for over 30 years. Aways, always, enjoy it. All of the various events throughout the year provide options for all racing teams, visitors and spectators. This is one of this country's venerable racing venues!

Our visit to Sebring International Raceway yesterday was truly memorable. We had the unique opportunity to enter and drive around the course, soaking in its history and legendary atmosphere. With no events happening, we were the only ones there—giving us a rare, behind-the-scenes feel for the track in its purest form. Even in the stillness, you could sense the energy and excitement that usually fills the air during race weekends. Walking and driving through the grounds, the history of the place seemed to echo around every corner. It was special to experience Sebring without the crowds, to take in the character and heritage of the track at our own pace. Sebring is more than just a racetrack—it’s a living piece of motorsport history. Yesterday gave us a new appreciation for that, and it’s an experience we won’t forget.

This was my first visit to Sebring International Raceway. I am a big race fan and this was on my bucket list. I really enjoyed the World War II history aspect of this facility. It was built in 1941 as a training facility for B-17 bomber pilots. Many of the concrete runways still exist. And they are used as racing surface in many areas of the race track. You will also be able to walk on a lot of the old concrete. You can walk around most of the race track. There are many different areas where you can watch the action at no charge which includes both spectator mounds and grandstand. You can camp for no charge in the infield except up against the fence by the race track. Those spots have to be reserved in advance. They do have a food midway as well as driver and team midways where you can purchase food and product. They also had live bands. You can bring in your own food and drink. You can walk through the paddock area where they house and work on the cars. Very cool. You can also get pretty close to the area where they pit the cars during the race. On Thursday night after practice the cars actually have to drive through the infield in order to get to the paddock. You are able to get right next to them as they go by. Just great! Many of the cars have very colorful lights attached to them, kind of like neon. Makes for exciting viewing during the night. They also have numbers on the cars that light up that tell you what position they are currently running in. Those numbers do show up pretty well at night. Now for the reasons that I scored this facility as a four star instead of a five star. You will have to pay attention to the cars closely in order to be able to understand who is running in what place. That is because there are only two video boards in the whole track. They have an app that you can use at the track but it is not reliable at all. You might want to consider subscribing to whatever streaming service the races are being broadcast on. Another thing that is lacking is showers. There are only two places in the whole track that have showers and there are not very many of them. I was also disappointed that they closed the showers right after the race was over. After spending all day walking, sweating and getting dirty I would have thought they would allow us some time to get cleaned up. Overall though I am very glad that I went and I would recommend it to others.

An incredible experience to race in this famous track. Very tricky turns and spots to avoid potential crashes. Great people there sharing their experience and hospitality.

Water Parks
LEGOLAND® Florida Resort is a large amusement park with a Lego theme, offering rides, a water park, dining options, and entertainment shows. The resort opened in 2011 and pays homage to the history of Cypress Gardens. Lake Eloise has been hosting waterski shows since the 1930s and was invaded by Captain Brickbeard and his crew to establish their pirate academy on this historic site.
It was absolutely amazing. We opened the park on a Tuesday morning and it felt like we had the park to ourselves. We rode each ride so many times, sometimes two or three times in a row without a wait. No wait was over 5 minutes. The staff was just so friendly and helpful! My son fell at the Ferrari exhibit and Molly the on call medic came to the rescue. She was professional and caring to my 6 year old. Denise at the entrance went out of her way to fix our ticket error, 100% my fault but she found a way to make it work and we are so happy she took the time to help us! Zoe was working the picture booth and another staff member who was excellent! We happened to be looking at our pictures, hadn't purchased any all day but she explained how it worked and pulled all our photos from all the rides and we were happy to purchase the photo package. Let me say it is well worth it for $42 the fact that they add in motion video along with the still photos was super cool! Overall a great break from Disney and my kids who are huge lego fans had the time of their life!

Great for kids of most ages. Perfect for kids between 4-13, as this park is catered to this age group. So the rides aren't extreme, and good enough for smaller kids. Fun little place. Expect to spend a high mark up on any food. They could work on making their park entry car lanes MUCH better to prevent a 45+ minute bottleneck.

Where do I start...... Amazing park friendly staff! A lot of food options and a lot of fun stores for kids! Ride had no wait max 5 minutes only a couple of rides were closed most of them were open though! Rides were kid-friendly and the shows were awesome the park was big and not crowded! Really clean park and bathrooms! And a lot of fun Lego statues! Even had a garden! A lot of shaded areas so we didn't get hot! Honestly such a fun and not crowded park!!! Really enjoyed it!!! Would recommend to everyone! ❤️ 11/10 Amazing!

My granddaughter and family enjoyed this park. We visited during the week, and the weather was beautiful, with no crowds. My favorites were Lego City and the aquarium. My three-year-old granddaughter is still talking about all the rides she and her parents were able to take her on. There are height restrictions for most rides, but she met most of them. Fortunately, the second day we went (the second day was Pepperpig Park) was the only day parking was being collected, and the fee was between $35 and $50. Despite the cost, we would definitely go again.

This is our second time visiting the Legoland Resort and staying at the Legoland Hotel and it's always a great time for the family! The hotel is not cheap but it's so worth it! There are Legos everywhere to keep the kids entertained, Pajama dance party, fun themed rooms, fire pit and s'mores, fireworks show and a great pool area! We went to the park during Brick or Treat and that was great! Lots of candy and no wait times for the rides, we enjoyed the Cypress Gardens area. We can't wait to go back!
Michi S — Google review
How does this theme park for kids have an average rating of 4.4 as of right now as I’m typing this? That’s wild. We went there today with my almost 3 and 5 year olds and it was better than those parks over in Orlando (I won’t name names). Calm atmosphere, 5 minute wait times for all the rides, kid friendly atmosphere as in everything is catered to littles, really fun rides, beautiful landscape, etc… My son loved the coasters and the dark rides, and my daughter loves Duplo Valley so there’s a little bit of everything for everyone. My husband loved the botanical garden. So yes, there’s a botanical garden INSIDE the theme park. Maybe to preserve Florida heritage. It has a monstrous banyan tree, waterfall, bridges, lakeside views, etc.. A seriously PERFECT quiet garden with pathways to get your little to sleep. What a wonderful break from the park. Definitely coming back. The only disappointment was the pirate cove boat ride was closed. We really want to ride it.
Bella L — Google review
This was a lot of fun for my daughter and my nibblings. There were cool lego statues everywhere and the lego city was amazing to look at. I took one star off for two reasons. First, a lot of the rides, snack carts, and bathrooms were closed. Which was frustrating at times. Second, we couldn't find places to trade the mini figures. I asked a couple of people about it and they basically said look around the park for workers with the figures. Not an easy task.

This past weekend my family and I stayed at the LEGOLAND Pirate hotel Resort. We booked for my Son’s birthday. Upon arrival the outside was well maintained , and looked amazing. The inside was a different story the pirate side was dirty, dingy and unkept. The elevators on the pirate side were both down at one point on Saturday and on Sunday only one worked you had to wait over 20 minutes to use the elevator. The vending machines would not work on any of the floors after a certain time of night. We asked on our first night for extra pillows and the housekeeper did not speak English , we used google translate to ask for the pillows. Asked another house keeper the next day same thing no English, because we didn’t get them I used the Wizard app to ask again and the person on the other end said extra pillows were first come first serve. I also mentioned that the housekeepers didn’t speak English and we asked yesterday but think it got forgotten. The person of the other end of the app said housekeeping was outsourced so that why the housekeepers didn’t speak English. The pool is closed until 4pm everyday, which is strange because what if you needed a break from the park. The staff on Sunday were friendly and nice but Friday night and Saturday they were not friendly or helpful. Overall we loved LEGOLAND its self just would not recommend the hotel or stay there again. For the price of staying at this hotel we could stay at a nicer more unkept place for longer.

Mysterious Sites
Nestled in Lake Wales, Florida, Spook Hill is a captivating local attraction that plays tricks on the eyes and mind. This intriguing site is renowned for its optical illusion that makes it seem as though cars are rolling uphill when they’re actually moving downhill. Situated on the historic Lake Wales Ridge—once islands millions of years ago—Spook Hill has become a beloved destination for those seeking to experience this quirky phenomenon firsthand.
This place is awesome!! Located in Lake Wales, Florida. The car goes backward up the hill( not the one in front of the car). You pull up to the white line, put the car in neutral & it will go backward up the hill you just came down. No ticket needed.
Vickie P — Google review
Really cool experience. It is an optical illusion, but nonetheless, it is still a lot of fun. It was not busy, so we were able to do it several times for pictures. Stay away during school pickup and drop-off hours, though.
Lee S — Google review
Kitschy, retro fun for the family! Spook Hill has been around for ages. My parents used to go as teens back in the 50's!! It's good clean fun with a creepy(ish) vibe. Also, it's really close to Bok Tower Gardens, so you can make a day of it. There are lots of little "greasy spoon diners" and restaurants too. And the nearby towns are quaint, with an "old downtown" feel. For Spook Hill, set your GPS to Spook Hill Elementary and it will take you right to it. Drive past the elementary school to the end of the road and turn left and it's right there. You cannot miss the signs (see below). You drive to the white line and stop your car, put it in neutral, then take your foot off the brake and let the magic happen! It's for realz! We were there on a somewhat rainy Sunday and were able to do it over and over again because there was no one else there and it worked every time.

Spook Hill SPOOK HILL THE LEGEND Ages ago an Indian Town on Lake Wales lake was plagued with raids by a huge gator. The town's great warrior Chief and the gator were killed in a final battle that created the huge swampy depression nearby. The chief was buried on its north side. Later pioneer HAULERS coming from the old ARMY TRAIL atop the ridge above found their horses LABORING HERE...at the foot of the ridge..and called it Spook hill. IS IT THE GATOR SEEKING REVENGE, OR THE CHIEF PROTECTING HIS LAND??? Stop car on white line, place in neutral and let it roll back.
Roads P — Google review
This attraction takes 10 minutes if there's no line. A really cool experience where your car rolls back up the hill or maybe it just seems to. This has been an attraction in Lake Wales since 1950. It's very popular.

Bok Tower Gardens, situated in Lake Wales, Florida, is a historic and picturesque destination featuring the iconic 205-foot tall Singing Tower with its renowned carillon bells. The gardens surrounding the tower showcase native Florida flora, a butterfly garden, and a boardwalk through a cypress swamp. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls amidst lush greenery and vibrant flowers while listening to melodies from the carillon throughout the day.
Absolutely beautiful. We visited for the first time on 10/25/2025 and had a wonderful time. Beautiful gardens. The Bok Tower is breathtaking to say the least. The art work on the tower is incredible and leaves one wondering. They sell plants and pots, pricing is very reasonable. If we lived closer we would have bought a membership. Definitely check this place out.

Lovely grounds to walk amid beautiful flora, fauna, and flowers. A peaceful, quiet place. Come listen to the bell tower and tour the mansion (El Retiro), but don't forget to visit the museum, store, and cafe. A wonderful way to spend the day. We were there for a special walk through event on the grounds and stayed later for the evening outdoor concert. A must see Florida attraction!

I have wanted to go here for a very long time. This place is so pretty and the tower is amazing. They have a little area for children that is creative. They even have a well that the kids can pump the water from. The views are really nice and you'll see tons of butterflies. Definitely should be on your list if you like Gardens and Outdoors.

What a beautiful setting! Bok picked a beautiful location, almost 100 years ago, to build this carillon (bells)tower that is still operational. They play beautiful music for our enjoyment. Another side visit is El Retiro (historic estate) and is worth extra $10 for personal tour. Highly recommended! Lake Wales is a very quaint town too to explore!

Bok Tower Gardens is an absolute gem! The hiking trails were wonderful — peaceful, scenic, and perfect for exploring nature at your own pace. The gardens are absolutely beautiful this time of year, full of color and life. It’s a great spot to take in some Florida history while enjoying the highest point in the state. The tower itself is stunning, and the entire property feels serene and inspiring. Whether you’re into nature, photography, or just looking for a relaxing day outdoors, Bok Tower Gardens is definitely worth a visit!

One of the best parks I've been to in Florida hands down. It does cost to visit so keep that in mind. But absolutely stunning gardens to walk through and the singing tower is wonderful to hear and has some outstanding architecture. The park was very clean and kept up well. They have so many venue options for hosting events it's crazy! All with their own little aesthetic. The cafe on property was wonderful. We tried their shaken coffee which was delicious. They had so many picnic areas it was hard to choose one spot.

A beautiful garden!!! got myself annual passes because i just love coming here. The gardens are beautiful and very well kept, the signs are very helpful and easy to follow, the events here really do have something for everyone, the cafe is to die for, i really have no complaints and never get sick of coming here! I bring all of my friends here anytime we are planning an outing and they all fall in love with it too! Would definitely recommend coming here at least once !

Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo

Nestled on a sprawling 1,700 acres along the picturesque Kissimmee River in Central Florida's Polk County, Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo offers an enchanting blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. This unique destination invites families to experience the thrill of a dude ranch while enjoying glamping-style accommodations. Guests can choose from various lodging options, including cozy teepees, Conestoga wagon-inspired cabins, and lodge-style rooms.
We stayed at Westgate River Ranch Resort for the weekend and rented one of the rail cars. It was a great experience all around. The rail car was spacious, clean, and surprisingly comfortable. The WiFi worked very well, which was nice since we were out in nature but still wanted to stay connected. The small kitchen was fully equipped with a fridge, utensils, frying pan, and other essentials, so it was easy to cook breakfast and simple meals. The resort itself has a relaxing, outdoorsy vibe with plenty of activities, but what really stood out was how peaceful the evenings were. It felt like a perfect mix of camping and comfort. They also have golf carts available for rent, which makes getting around the property much easier. The resort is large, and having a cart really adds to the convenience, especially when you’re moving between the activities, restaurants, and your room. One thing to note — their concierge service was very persistent about signing us up for a “presentation” in exchange for covering our golf cart rental. As a timeshare owner, I recognized what it was right away and declined, but they tried hard to rope us in with discounts and questions. It wasn’t aggressive, but it was definitely a sales pitch. Just be aware of that part if you’re not interested. Aside from that, we loved our stay and would absolutely come back for the resort experience itself.

Really fun weekend getaway. The Saturday night radio was awesome. Gorgeous horses and the show was extremely entertaining, especially love the patriotic theme. Loved the petting zoo animals and the running of the horses to the pasture for the night. Enjoyed the main restaurant. Shoutout to James, who could not have been any more accommodating. He even joined us for a more subtle Happy Birthday song for one of our friends (she didn’t want a spectacle)!!! Perfect weather and perfect weekend !

Wonderful experience. Definitely have to come again. The property is beautiful. Exceptional staff. Took me back to the Old West. The food at The Smokehouse on the River was A++. Best Barbecue ever. The horseback Riding and petting farm was perfect. The staff takes excellent care of the animals and the farm. The Swamp buggy ride was my favorite. Will definitely visit again with my entire family.

Our experience was absolutely wonderful. Tony (manager) at the front desk was phenomenal. The room was clean, the sheets were comfortable. The activities were great as well. My daughter enjoyed the water park, and the cowboy adventure park. She also loved the air boat ride. 10/10 recommend the glamping tents! It was a great weekend by the fire, and we would definitely do it again!

We had the best time here! I want to give a huge shout-out to Shaquanda and Alaysha for making our trip amazing. The water park area is extremely well-run, I always felt like my kids were safe and carefully watched. The playground area, however, could use a few more employees or a better staffing schedule. Several of the activities weren’t open during our visit, which was a little disappointing. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and truly appreciate the staff who made it special!
Megan D — Google review
I would like to start by saying, the staff was great. They were very kind, helpful, and welcoming. However, we came there for our 10 year anniversary and it wasn't that great. We went on a week day were it was quiet so that was kind off good. We showed up, our room wasn't ready. They were pressure washing all the teepees to get them ready for the weekend form what we were told. Those are expensive, even during the week. Felt like we were less important since we stayed during the week. Then, the next morning we were woken up at 8am for the grounds people outside the teepee cleaning and mulching and washing again, cause more people were coming for the weekend. Stores were closed during the week, only 1 resturant was open and the pizza place. Pizza was good. They do weigh u to get on the horse, you have to be 225 when every where else its 250. So my wife had to go alone. Everything closed early. Ice cream shoppe closed at 1pm and mini golf and adventure park at 5. All in all it wasn't a great experience, it was expense and just felt 2nd class, that we couldn't sleep in or relax in a $600 a night teepee cause it was all about the people coming for the weekend.

This place was amazing, the property, the staff, food, different types of accommodations, and activities all were just a great experience. Just make sure you call ahead to reserve the activities you would like to participate in and check if they are included with your reservation, specially if you are going during a busy season. Our room was impeccable and awesome, we enjoyed the amenities, everything was so clean and neat, and we were very grateful for every staff member we met...their positive attitude just made our days so pleasant. I think it was worth every penny. We loved the golf cart, breakfast, night fire (always coming back to check if we needed anything), water park and you can find pretty much anything you need in premises. Definitely planning on going back.

The shooting experience was spectacular. Cody was an excellent instructor, good speaker, enjoyed his many Codyisms! The other employee who deserves mention is Alec. Took a swamp buggy ride and an airboat ride and he was great. Knowledgable, fun, and helpful. The whole 4 days was beyond expectation.

Shooting Ranges
An amazing place to experience firearms! Coming from the Netherlands, my girlfriend and I never shot a gun in our lives before. Don Lutz was a very knowledgeable guy, comforting us into shooting our first bullets. Quickly the gauges went up and before we knew it, we were the new John Wicks :) haha. Unfortunately not, but in all honesty, the historical and technical explanation about the guns, the atmosphere and location (OUTSIDE!), great lunch and attention for personal safety and improvement have to make this the best Firearms Experience in Florida. We have no comparison, but try to find a range for an acceptable price level where you can shoot 4 rifles, a shotgun and 4 handguns outside on different targets (soda cans pop nicely) and really have fun doing it. That's the main goal: fun with firearms. And that goal is greatly achieved by Florida Firearms Adventures. WE WILL BE BACK Caine & Melissa *note: amount and type of firearms depend on their judgement of your shooting skills. If you behave correctly and following their instructions carefully and with attention to safety, you will have the best experience.

We had a blast out here with our instructor. Knowledgeable and safe with a great sense of humor! Small groups help keep the action going. From 10am to 2pm with a lunch in between was perfect for the day. The equipment was clean and serviced; the range was covered and clean. I couldn't recommend this adventure more!

Read about it on the internet while looking at our first shooting experience. So we just booked. And believe us .... what a hell of an expererience. More than 4 hours we got information about weapons, shoot them and learned a lot more about all. We did come to Florida for a vacation with the whole family, and this adventure is really suited for a family. Don knows a lot about guns, but also helps you using them in a save way. I can recommend him to everyone wanting to shoot, you just wont regret it. Thanks Don!
