Alligator Adventure, located at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is a renowned animal park that offers an up-close experience with a variety of species. The facility boasts an impressive collection of reptiles, including American and Albino alligators, wild frogs, Cassowary, BOB, Crocs, Eagle Owls, and Ring Tailed Lemurs. Our Alligator Adventure with Cape Fear Adventure Company was a great experience from start to finish! We spotted multiple alligators and turtles, and had a blast navigating through marsh areas with tall grass that made the paddle feel like a true adventure. We were paired with another group, but they were friendly and the outing felt relaxed and enjoyable. Captain Michael was knowledgeable, helpful, and kept a perfect pace that made it easy for everyone to keep up, no matter their skill level. This trip was fun, safe, and perfect for anyone looking to explore the wild side of the area without feeling overwhelmed. Highly recommend!

Wow! Great place to see the gators and others up close. Great presentations and feeding. Place is clean and well maintained. Although some of the wood walkways and fencing is looking weathered. I guess it adds to the ambiance! Park personnel are kind and patient. Gift store is stocked with cool stuff. By the by gators are everywhere in case you were wondering. Additionally there is a nature walk above the swamps and water. Additional buildings w/ lizards, frogs and of course snakes. Other animals and birds as well. Go, enjoy, and have fun.
Grabbs V — Google review
Coming to this place was a highlight of my trip to Myrtle Beach! This is a great family friendly place to visit for all animal lovers. They house all sorts of animals and provide great resources for learning about them. There are live shows that make the experience all the more immersive. I have never gotten to see an alligator up close or even in person so coming to Alligator Adventure makes for a unique encounter for those visiting from northern regions like me or really anyone who loves and support animal conservation.
Ashlee H — Google review
I have been by this place probably a thousand times in my life. We decided to head down from NC to check it out. Wow! This adventure was fantastic, from the native animals to exotic birds, this place has its act together. We were impressed with how the area looked and maintained. All the reptiles and animals looked well cared for and safe. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. They have animals/reptiles from all over the world...and if you want to see gators and crocs up close??? This is your kind of place.
Patrick S — Google review
They must have literally thousands of alligators here separated to some degree by age groups. Nice, clean, fully accessible facility just north of Barefoot Landing. Very nice gift shop. Food choices at snack bar very limited. You gotta go here at least once.
Guy S — Google review
I went with my kids. My kids absolutely loved this place. We went to 3 shows while we were there. We just loved walking around looking at all of the animals! I noticed all the animal enclosures were clean. They had fresh water, clean enclosures, and most had some type of food/snack available. Our highlight would have been Utan the 20ft or 21ft crocodile. The kids just could not get over how big his head is and how round he was as well. An educational experience we all enjoyed!
Beau G — Google review
Alligator Adventure was such a fun and educational experience! There’s so much more than just alligators—we saw snakes, turtles, exotic birds, lamas, hyenas, and even a rare albino alligator. The live shows were a highlight; the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. The park is clean, well laid out, and easy to navigate. There are plenty of shady spots, which is great on a hot day. We especially loved seeing the giant alligators and crocodiles up close—some of them are absolutely massive!
Freda P — Google review
This was a very interesting place to visit. They had lizards alligators snakes birds turtles laughing hyena line and much more, frogs. It was a very friendly place and we enjoyed every minute of it. If you are ever in this area I highly recommend that you go to this place it's a must, and your kids will love it as well.

Duplin Winery

Winery
Food & Drink
Duplin Winery, located in North Myrtle Beach, is a charming and relaxed venue where you can savor a variety of sweet wines. Established in 1975, it is the oldest and largest producer of grape-based drinks in North Carolina. The winery's 15,000 square foot facility at Barefoot Landing offers tastings, a retail space, and tours of its bottling area.
My mother and I visited Duplin Winery in North Myrtle Beach while on vacation, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. We enjoyed a tasting of 8 different wines—my top two were the Burgundy and Magnolia. We also tried their Muscadine Pineapple Habanero Salsa with cream cheese, which paired perfectly with cheese, crackers, and wine. The highlight of our visit was meeting Dave Duplin, the owner. He joined the tasting room to share stories and even took the time to chat with us outside afterward. It’s rare to see an owner so engaged with guests, and it truly made our first visit unforgettable. We will absolutely be returning! 🍷
Jocelyn P — Google review
Came to the Winery for a wine tasting and was blown away. Frank who led our tasting was knowledgeable and very personable and made the experience that much more enjoyable. For me the wines were all excellent. More on the sweeter side for those who enjoy that. I would encourage you to join the wine club as they have very good benefits. They have an assortment of crackers, dips and desserts for you to purchase. Can’t wait to come back and try this place again.
John E — Google review
One of the best places i have been. I love them. My last one to visit is in Panama. My wife and I always enjoy visiting Duplin wineries. We can never get enough. Today, Tim was out tasting expert and he did a great job. Excellent presentation.
Leonard T — Google review
Michelle was just as sweet as the wine! She really made our visit special - we were celebrating our friend’s 30th birthday! 10/10 would come back again, great experience. We really enjoyed the live music on the back patio as well!
Jessica N — Google review
Eleven of my family members and I really enjoyed our experience here today. Joey and Carolyn were excellent host. They were very knowledgeable about the wine and history. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Tome H — Google review
Tim was our bartender for our wine tasting event. Tim was fun and engaging and made our time very memorable! He provided many great ways to enjoy the wine - not just by the glass! A variety of ways to mix and pair, etc. We at the last minute decided to go to a wine tasting event since the weather was awful for our beach vacation. For this wine tasting - if you love sweet wines this will definitely be your thing! If you are in the area take the time and stop by and enjoy the tasting, the fellowship, the shop and select the option for the free glass of wine to enjoy your favorite from the tasting. You will not be disappointed!!!
Tricia C — Google review
I really enjoyed this wine tasting experience. This is my first time here and I would definitely come back and bring friends. Our bartender, Michelle was super awesome. She did excellent job and was very knowledgeable of all the wines that we sampled.
Saundra W — Google review
Always a fantastic time. Caroline has been our host many times and she's always such a gem. The tastings are always educational, celebratory and delicious! We're here about once a month and never have anything less than a great time!

The area boasts Greg Norman's Australian Grille, known for its waterfront fine dining experience with indoor and outdoor seating options offering stunning views of the Intracoastal Waterway. Visitors can explore numerous specialty boutiques and national shops while enjoying the relaxing outdoor promenade.
A Must-Visit Spot in Myrtle Beach! Barefoot Landing is a beautiful and vibrant place that perfectly combines shopping, dining, and entertainment, making it a must-visit during any trip to Myrtle Beach. We loved the atmosphere here – from the charming boardwalks to the scenic lake in the center, where you can actually spot wildlife like turtles and even crocodiles! There’s a great mix of boutique shops, restaurants, and bars, and we especially enjoyed coming in the evenings when live concerts were taking place – the energy was amazing and added so much to the experience. The whole layout of the place is thoughtfully designed, making it a pleasant place to stroll around, whether you’re shopping, grabbing a drink, or just enjoying the views. We liked it so much we ended up going more than once during our vacation! Highly recommended for families, couples, or anyone looking for a fun and relaxing place to hang out in Myrtle Beach. Don’t miss it!
Erick ( — Google review
Barefoot Landing is a great little spot to hang out and kill some time and do some shopping. Most of the shops are overpriced touristy stuff but there are a few gems in there. The ticketed rides are extremely overpriced. Almost $7 to ride the carousel. There’s some nice views and the restaurants looked nice but we had eaten before we visited. Bring something to keep yourself hydrated as there are no water stations here (which is extremely annoying). Bottled water is $2+ at the stores. Seems like a disservice to not offer water when the shade is pretty limited.
Aaron J — Google review
What a beautiful place!! This is perfect for family a place to unwind, stroll around this place offer everything, from entertainment, food and activities, me and my family spend some times here, they have a lawn that you can get your own beach chair to watch their show, my daughter likes it and somehow participated, they also have a small inlet with boat and of course this place is surrounded by different kind of restaurants you have so many options, they also have a big playground where my kids spend hours of playing, and parents can always buy a refreshing drinks or cocktails while watching kids play, the bathroom is located inside the arcade, it's not clean enough that's the reason why I gave 4 star the bathroom is not maintained and it's stinky, other than that you can spend your all day on this place and I highly recommended family to visit barefoot landing whenever you visit Myrtle Beach.
Cherry W — Google review
Similar to Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing has quite a selection of shopping, food, and quality entertainment in north Myrtle Beach. During the day, visitors can shop for apparel, jewelry, and gifts or pick from a wide variety of attractions. Barefoot Landing is a shopping, dining and entertainment destination all in one. It is a must-see during your Myrtle Beach vacation. They have wonderful annual events, live music, great restaurants, and plenty of family-friendly fun all year round. It’s also very dog-friendly with specialty shops for your pooch and water dishes outside of many retailers around the complex. Lucy Buffett’s LuLu’s has a huge menu and is a great spot for families with little ones with a fun beach and plenty of seating. Enjoy the beautiful waterway views with a cold drink in hand at a few great spots around Barefoot Landing. We had the best time at Crooked Hammock Brewery
Sanjay G — Google review
Very nice place, I liked walking there beside water seeing the yachts and boats, beautiful architecture, Christmas decorations, lights, the harbor and beautiful shops and restaurants.
Sara F — Google review
If you grew up going to N. Myrtle, there’s a good chance you grew up at Barefoot Landing. Coming back as an adult feels like you never left. The walkways over the water, the magic shop, etc. The property itself is super clean, and there lots of things for the kiddos to do. Definitely recommend the playground to bring off some energy. Highly recommend!
R.K. L — Google review
Barefoot Landing have fantastic stores, foods, and more, it’s a great place to visit with friends and families, their are also ponds with fishes and it also looks cool, also I look at shirts of Football (Soccer), pretty cool because I’m a fan of Football, and their are shirts, plush, shoes store in this area, pretty cool, besides this place is a 100% the best one yet, and in Myrtle Beach, their are other places to visit.

Beautiful and clean place to hang out and just relax with several food, snacks, shops and bars. Kids can play in the playground while you can grab a pint of beer next door and listen to live music.

I've dreamt of being able to do something like this for a long time. The staff here are not only fun & friendly, but they are extremely knowledgeable. If you're ever in the area I would highly recommend going, it's an experience you will never forget! Remember, their conservation efforts do not stop here, they contribute all around the world, BRAVO!!

A Great bunch of people. Everyone were pleasant, polite, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. We had the best time.
Inez T — Google review
Definitely recommend going if you are a cat or animal lover. Looking is free. Having pictures taken with the animals is expensive but well worth it! I have 2 of the most awesome pictutes ever! One with me and a baby tiger next to my face and another with my family with an adolesent white tiger laying across across our laps being bottle fed by my son! I've been wanting to go back ever since!
Melody E — Google review
They were at barefoot landing between 6p and 8p as they said. It was free to see them there. Good little experience . you can pay to see them closer and get pics.
Lori R — Google review
Awesome!!!! We didnt take advantage of the photo op/holding a tiger opportunity, but we did get to watch the babies play, and we got to pet a little monkey!!!! Loved this!!!!!!
Lyssa J — Google review
We really lile the folks here. They care about the animals and quickly remove them from display if the weather us poor. The animals come first. Its a bit expensive but worth knowing the money goes to help perserve the tigers in the wild. The memories are worth all of it.
Michele S — Google review
DO NOT GO HERE! THIS IS A FOR PROFIT BUSINESS WHO EXPLOITS BIG CATS. This is a breeder who has found a way to make money off his tigers. Here they have NO water, and babies are separated from the mother. This is sick.

Wheels of Yesteryear Vintage Automobile Museum in Myrtle Beach is a paradise for classic car aficionados. Founded by Paul and Carol Cummings, the museum boasts a remarkable collection of over 150 American-made cars and trucks, showcasing decades of automotive history. Visitors can also explore the gift shop offering nostalgic die-cast collectibles and car-themed souvenirs.
My dad and I wanted to stop by here while we were on vacation. It's definitely worth the time and money to walk around to see such great cars. And for me, it was great to hear my dad talk about the cars and his memories!! We spent a good 2 hours walking around and enjoying each car. We also had a great time having a conversation with the main manager (sorry forgot his name) and his enjoyment talking about the cars and the owners. We will definitely stop by again when we are back in town, to see which cars they swap around.
Jane A — Google review
This museum is a gem for anyone who loves classic cars. The staff are genuinely friendly and make you feel welcome right from the start. There’s an impressive selection of vehicles on display, and the curator does a great job rotating the cars every so often, so there’s always something new to see on return visits. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting—you can take your time admiring the details, and there’s even a guest book where visitors sign in and share where they’ve traveled from, which adds a fun, personal touch. Before heading out, the small gift shop is worth a stop for a souvenir to remember the visit. All in all, it’s a wonderful little museum that delivers a lot of charm for classic car enthusiasts, whether you’re a casual admirer or a die-hard collector at heart.
Megan K — Google review
If you are into cars, this place is a must! Truly a lifetime collection. Over 100 cars that you can walk right up to. Collector has another 100+/- so museum is always changing. Self guided tour. A lot of additional photos and articles. Little pricey but well worth the money. Large gift shop. Been multiple times in the past and will be coming back in the future. To Paul and family/friends, thank you for sharing
Brian H — Google review
If you like old cars and some history with it this is the place to be. When we first Walked in we were greeted by two employees, after checkout he gave us some history of this place when it started who the owners were. Worth the trip.
Amanda H — Google review
A buddy of mine visited from out of town and I had never been here before - thought it would be a great place to see. It definitely didn't disappoint. The employee there gave a short spiel on why the museum exists and then sent us on our way. There are a hundred different classic cars to see and admission was $22 a person. Glad I went. I'm planning to bring my father and sister when they visit for Turkey Day.
Karl W — Google review
What a neat place. They have many older cars models and, according the the man working there, they switch them out every so often so that there are new ones to see.
Rebecca H — Google review
There's a lot to see if you're into cars and a fair amount to see if you just like old stuff. The employee we met was super friendly and helpful. Slightly pricy for what it is but maybe standard for car enthusiasts.

Shopping
Tanger Outlets Myrtle Beach Hwy 501 is a shopper's paradise, offering an impressive selection of brand-name and designer outlet stores. Located conveniently along Highway 501, this vibrant shopping destination caters to every fashionista's needs with a diverse range of specialty shops. From trendy apparel at Adidas and Nine West Outlet to stylish accessories from Michael Kors and Ecco, you'll find everything you need for your beach getaway or everyday wear.
I chose the outlet last Wednesday due to inclement weather with rain and gusty winds making walking in the park or outside impossible. In navigating the ins and outs of the complex, I realized I needed shoes specifically for walking outside, trails, etc…and purchased four pairs from two different stores. There’s a wide variety of stores with some ones offering usual, different, and nostalgic items.

First time here.its HUGE. Clean. Not enough direction for restrooms... Went looking for a specific pair of skechers at their store... didn't have my size found. Em at famous footwear... Said they were BOGO clearance... cashier definitely rang it up reg. Went back to dispute this problem. He refused to half process it. ...

The tiger outlets are very quiet. There are some good stores with great discounts. One things that I like there was an American Eagle clearance store most expensive item in the store was $19.99. I really like the coach factory outlet. They had a great selection. I was able to get two leather purses for $355. They have a loft outlet. They have a Ralph Lauren, a torrid a Case jewelers and some shoe stores also sunglass hut.. quiet and clean
Holycityfitblonde — Google review
This is an outdoor open space outlet mall. Lots of plants and sitting area in between the pavements and sections. Lots of good stores avalanche like Nike, Under Armor, Crocs, Forever 21, Coach, Gap, Banana Republic, and Polo Ralph Lauren. All the stores offer good discounts and sale offers. Prices are very reasonable taking the discounted price in consideration. Multiple small vendors are around the outlet selling nuts, drinks and ice creams. The parking lot is close to the shops. I was able to walk to my car few times to drop off shopping bags while we shopped around.
Nehal A — Google review
I had a good experience here, not really a whole lot else to say other than it is outdoors so you might not want to come on a rainy day. Plenty of parking!
Beastlycharizard13 — Google review
Its nice, had stores that I haven't seen at other Tanger outlets. The prices in some stores were great. They had a 7 brew next to it, love there drinks/coffee. Overall great experience.
Cassandra A — Google review
Outlet stores are no longer outlets, but shopping malls. The stores here, for the most part, did not have discount items, although a few stores had "clearance" sections. This outlet is no different. Plenty of clean, well lit, well stocked stores, but the prices are just like going to any regular store to shop.

Great farm/zoo!! Took our 7 year old grandson and he had a blast. The animals are NOT mistreated or abused at all!! We got to feed many animals. It took about 2 1/2 hours to go thru the entire zoo. Well worth the $12 adult admission price.
Marji Z — Google review
Would give zero stars if able. I have read the good reviews posted about this place and can’t for the life of me understand what they saw wonderful about these conditions. The only thing I can gather is that they were either confusing it with another zoo, are fake reviews, or were high as a kite walking through the place. There was nothing enjoyable. My kids and I left feeling sad and upset at the conditions these animals are forced to live in. Social monkeys that usually live in groups are living alone in small cages. All animals looked sick and malnourished, with many looking stressed or like they had bad health problems. The bears (pictured) and various other animals were missing large areas of fur. The monkey pictured below had eyes swollen shut. The Lynx was in a small 10x10 foot cage with no where to climb. All enclosures/exhibits were filthy and run down. 99% of the enclosures were WAY too small for the type of animal it was housing. It was sickening to see large cats and bears with no space to run or climb. No food or water was seen in any enclosure and it was a really hot day we were there. I have been to many zoos where animals get excited for food, but these animals fought each other to get food from us as if they were starving. I wish there was a way to get this place shut down and the animals moved somewhere they can be treated better and thrive.
Kristen — Google review
I would give no stars if I could! I wish I had read reviews before going. I'm shocked that this place has been allowed to remain open! Absolutely disgusted over the state of these poor animals. Not only are the enclosures dirty, tiny and rundown, they're also lacking anything to engage the animals. No trees for the monkeys, some of them are in sheds indoors, the bears have either muddy water, concrete or about a 6 foot cage of mud to live in, the lions have a small concrete rundown cage with no way to see the sun. The animals look so unhappy. I'm contacting PETA to see if there is anything they can do. I'm including pics of the grounds, enclosures and animals.
Dawn S — Google review
Better than we expected. Loved the peacocks. We didn't get to see the kangaroo or alligator. But it was definitely a great visit. Be prepared to walk and it's alot of roots and uneven terrain so wear comfortable shoes. Staff was extremely friendly. Will definitely recommend to others and would visit again during next trip.
ASHLEY B — Google review
After reading reviews we weren't expecting much, but it actually turned out to be a pretty cool experience! The zoo is a little run down, but they had more animals than I expected; the lions and bear were a surprise. You could also feed most of the animals. Don't expect a meticulously landscaped and paved park with state-of-the- art exhibits. You will do quite a bit of walking on dirt paths with tree roots along the way.
Tenn T — Google review
My family went here the week of July 10th. The reviews online made me very skeptical about what we were going to see. My son had his heart set on going so we gave it a chance. I think that the employees really care about the animals. You can tell that the majority of the animals are well fed and cared for correctly. You can purchase feed at the register to give to the animals and you can definitely tell that the animals are used to that. The animals are really cute. We loved how the peacocks just roamed free! My first area of concern is that the zoo does need some repairs. Some of the buildings are run down and it could use some TLC. My second issue is that the map isn’t the easiest to read and you can end up going in a bunch of circles. My third problem is that it’s called a zoo but there are a ton of goats - all different kinds that you see. I would say that the majority of animals are goats. They are adorable though. Finally, it is advertised to see tigers but there were no tigers to see. That was disappointing. It was supposed to be one of the last animals we saw and then there were none. It was a let down.
Kacie R — Google review
Visited last week for the first time, had my 8mo daughter & my 14yo neice & we had a lot of fun! The ladies in the front were pleasant! Hand feeding the animals was great & the peacocks roaming freely was a sight! The only thing is the SC heat makes for a short visit diring the summer if your not properly packed! All animals (besides the monkeys honestly) looked well kept, just hot!! The big birds were my favorite!! Definitely something we will be back to enjoy!

My wife and I had a lot of fun here. Food bags were a decent price. There was a crapload full of turtles that we fed in a lake. There was over 100 I'm not over exaggerating. I like that the deer was free roaming around. One got very close to us and we gave it food. I loved seeing a bear up close. Bigger cages are needed yes but I really loved this place.

Diamondback Golf Club

Golf course
Outdoor Activities
Played from the Diamondback tees, over 6600 yards. The course was wet, so it played alot longer. No OB on the front side, crazy tight OB on both sides of nearly every hole on the back nine. Besides it being "Cart Path Only" and hitting to the opposite side on every hole, it was a fun course. Don't skip this one while you're in Myrtle Beach!

Ok ok finally a review for my favorite course in the MB area. This course has so much incredible features to offer. Challengability is top notice with many changes in elevation, hard dog legs, a good amount of water and mash features, wildlife and beautiful surroundings. Negative things gnats, very tight fairways and lack of restrooms out on the course. The club house staff are great super friendly and helpful and the woman who I normally see at the bar is a fantastic employee and a joy to chat with on the turn. Great deals on the food with their special. Hotdog special give you a hotdog a bag of chips and a soda or a draft beer for $7.50. Make this a must play when you are in the area!
Tim J — Google review
For starters it’s $38 local rate for 18 during the week. Not sure of weekend rates. Next the layout is pretty dang good. And the greens tho they were a bit on the slower side, they are in 9.5 of 10 shape! One green had a blemish on the back side. The staff and the starter was super friendly. Any downside would be the gnats. They about drove me completely crazy but only on the back side. I definitely will be playing it again but with bug spray along with my sunscreen. I been playing MB courses got the last 10 years and this is top 3. For overall probably #1 course in the area. Proves you can enjoy a great round for under 80-100 bucks. And kids play great under 18 I think it is. I 30 minute drive from North Myrtle but worth it!
Jason B — Google review
The golf course was in excellent conditions. The greens were fast and slick, but did put true. Would highly recommend playing, if you haven’t played it before it is definitely challenging for all levels of golfers.
Daniel F — Google review
The course s absolute beautiful condition. Course management is key. Cudos to the ground staff. There wasn't any green rot anywhere.
Ralph P — Google review
Love to play this course. All the trees and different holes sand and “stuff” to hit over well positioned to make the course fun to play. Club house team very friendly.
Dave L — Google review
Tight course among lovely pinelands with towering trees. Narrow fairways so better hit 'em straight. Greens run true. Picturesque wetlands and creeks run throughout course. Some very challenging holes with wide hazards and some straight away holes. Attendants super friendly as is snack bar and pro shop. Course in good shape with lush fairways. Worth taking a side trip to play this course as different than many of other nearby courses.
Rebecca B — Google review
The last time I played here they just airreated the greens. Hope I spelled that correctly. But the greens putted badly with the hopes and all the sand. They still charged the regular price witch was terrible and everyone of us thought the same. Bull....

Conway Riverwalk

Park
Outdoor Activities
Tranquil path bordering the Waccamaw River, with benches, grassy areas & playgrounds along the way.
Great little river walk in conway. It is well kept and maintained. Some parts are not that wheelchair accessible. But other then that its a great little place to bring the kids on the weekend or just a fun free thing to do to get out of the house. Sometimes they have farmers market and other small events here also
Thomas C — Google review
Beautiful spot for a jog, or a relaxing walk. The river is gorgeous day or night! We saw fish, turtles, and heard lots of birds here. The walk itself is on a nice boardwalk and you can take a stroll through the sweet city of Conway after. There’s multiple restaurants within walking distance and lots of stops for pictures. There’s plenty of parking and even a nice farmers market (check when it’s open). It’s a really great spot to meditate and take a rest for your mind. We also found some painted rocks which was exciting!

We went for the Halloween Market. The decorations were fantastic. The town was decorated with beautiful lights, pumpkins and several huge scary animated monsters, skeletons etc. Our only disappointment was there was zero to very little traffic control. The crowds were huge and traffic was majorly snarled both in town and leading up to it. Maybe this slows down after the initial weekend. The Market was festive but I expected more vendors and food trucks. ( Unless I missed another lot of vendors). One question was why did all restaurants stop seating at the same time? This left many hungry attendees with no choices as most eateries (except bars) were closed for the event. The ones that were open had very long wait times. In excess of 2 hours. Overall it was a great event which happened to be hugely attended on Saturday eve.
Mary V — Google review
This was a beautifully done walkway. It was very peaceful, but there were a lot of shops and dining nearby. Please check the retail hours online before you go if you want to combine shopping with your walk.

October 1st started Halloween Town. Definitely worth the trip. We njoyed everyone's hospitality and kindness. I would LOVE to live in Conway historic community but never a house to buy. (The ladies at City Hall treated us with epic kindness) Cute Halloween decorations in court room!!! We loved it.

Gorgeous area. Conway is truly the hidden gem of Horry County. So many people come to visit Myrtle Beach each year and never make it up here to this beautiful little town. The Riverwalk is a peaceful, well-maintained space to take a stroll right in the heart of downtown Conway's many shops and restaurants.

South Carolina Tobacco Museum

Museum
Specialty Museums
Great museum, no fees! Ronda ( the guide) did a great job.
Ulrich L — Google review
Took my family to my grandfather's hometown. There is a rich history of tobacco farming. Enjoyed the stages of growing tobacco the barn relics and staff knowledge. They were excited to share, engaging and walked us through the museum. I liked how interactive it was. I would love to see more images and historical references of the Black residents who reside in Mullins, their culture, experience and voice also be prominent in this museum. Black residents make up 75% of the Mullins population but their image, voice and experience in the tobacco museum is no where to be found. I think it does a huge disservice to the history and culture of Mullins to not be intentional about making sure the fabric of the town is included. It is not as inclusive as I thought it would be given the population make up. My family is still there as well as others who are descendent of tobacco farming, who are stewards of the land and are still alive to tell their own stories. If that was included that would be a 5+ for me. To know the history and not see it displayed is disappointing. I am hopeful that there will be more intention to include Black voices.
Christopher H — Google review
Amazing!! The lady at the front was so so sweet and told me interesting facts about Mullins and it’s history with Tobacco. They have so many artifacts from that time along with pictures. They also have a little gift shop. Overall I would recommend visiting this place 😁 I’ll be back but next time I’ll bring some family members 😊

Moore Farms Botanical Garden

Botanical garden
Nature & Parks
Gardens
A beautiful garden! Definitely worth a visit. Pictures do not do it justice. Unfortunately, it is only open to the public a few times a year for free. The first week in May (ArtFields) is one of those times. You can book private tours and they do have a few other events each year at the garden. You can easily spend 2 hours here wondering around. There are benches and swings all along the paths and around the ponds.

Very beautiful botanical garden, nice to see it during the art festival. You don't have to buy tickets in advance, set up tour time

The garden is looking great. The colors and plantings are awesome. I'm glad we were able to attend during the Artfields week. We have been here before but not at this time of year. There is so much to see we walked the entire place in reverse and found new things we missed around every turn. Well worth the trip and will go back agsin.

This is a lovely and serene place to gamble and bask in the beauty of nature enhanced by works of art. There are many paths to wander, a visitors center and occasional plant sales. We visited during the Artfields Festival: and ideal time to go!

South of the Border Motor Inn

Motel
Water & Amusement Parks
Simple rooms in a Mexican-themed resort with a theme park & a sombrero-shaped observation tower.
The room was huge, extremely clean. I used to be a professional housekeeper and can find the dirt anywhere. This place is spotless. The beds were very comfortable, its dated but I kinda of enjoy that retro feel. I love the pool options. They have a beautiful indoor poor with the dome over it and a really nice outdoor pool with tons of lounge space. I would 100 percent come here again.
Hope N — Google review
I remember going here as a kid and it is still as pristine and enchanting today. The only down side is that society as a whole doesn't appreciate the simpler and cheesy nature of life 20 years ago. Too bad because there is still so much fun and memories to be hard here. The buildings and restrooms were to notch in appearance and cleanliness. We'll worth taking the time to take selfies with the many quirky statues and props. Go here to make a few memories with your family and remember the nostalgia.
Ronald B — Google review
Not a 5 star place but my room was huge, very clean and a comfy bed. The village is a fantastic little tourist trap. Had a great breakfast at the place next to the gift shop and a really good steak under the sombrero... you should spend a day here just to say you did it, tell your kids Disney world was closed and that was the #2 option

Kids loved it. I definitely enjoyed buying things. All different types of things. The cleanliness, the feeling the experience brings and the level of enjoying South Carolina.
Marquita G — Google review
A Stay to Remember… for All the Wrong Reasons 1. Wi-Fi in the room? Nope. I got so pruney sitting by the pool just trying to check my emails. 2. Hours of operation: We know it’s off-season, but shutting down almost everything at 7 p.m.? Meanwhile, fireworks are 24/7? Make it make sense. 3. Amenities: The shampoo provided was enough to wash exactly one butt cheek. 4. Toilet paper: Felt like sandpaper on my poor behind. Please invest in Charmin Extra Strong—your guests will thank you. 5. The TV situation: Pretty sure I needed a telescope. Was that a 26-inch screen? Walmart has 40-inch models on sale. Just saying. 6. The bed: I didn’t realize I’d booked a stay with the Flintstones. The bed was harder than a slab of granite. 7. Check-in: The new front desk staff couldn’t find my reservation. After digging through my junk email they finally located it. We got a parking pass but no directions, so we looped around like idiots. #TrainingNeeded 8. Gift shop: Decent, but please restock your light-up keychains. Out of N’s, R’s, and L’s! 9. Cultural note: Not a single Mexican in sight. Was hoping to see at least one of my fellow people. #Latino #MiRaza 10. Activities: No mini-golf? Missed opportunity. 11. Room privacy: The blinds didn’t close all the way. Had I not changed in the bathroom, my “hot bod” could’ve been a free show. 12. Phone book nostalgia: Found a Yellow Pages from 2013. Fun trip down memory lane, but maybe update it? Half those numbers probably belong to ghosts now. 13. Coffee tragedy: The Folgers machine nearly scalded me. Then the powdered creamer looked suspiciously like crushed Tums tablets. Might want to check those expiration dates. --- Final thoughts: Between the Flintstone mattress, the single-cheek shampoo, and the Tums creamer, this stay was one for the books. Would I come back? Only if the Wi-Fi reaches the room and the toilet paper stops waging war on my butt.
Ramon S — Google review
I had a pool pass. The place was empty. I had a lovely swim for at least 20 min. The water was refreshing, not overly warm. The place could use some cleaning/painting. It felt like an abandoned gem. The geodesic dome is really nice from the water

Really enjoyed my stay. Room was HUGE. It's very quiet .it's old school and cozy. This is where I like to stay , instead of modern boring hotels that are popping up everywhere . Parking is very convenient . Friendly staff. Clean, beds and sheets are so comfortable . The room is spacious and at a great price.

Had a great time and haven't been there since the 70s. The rooms are dated but it was great overall just because it brought back memories as it child going on vacation and staying there with my family. It would be nice to say all of the rooms updated like some of them had been renovated but the ones we were in if there was any renovation done it was very minimal. Thank you for the wonderful stay and the wonderful memories but I had staying there with my sister and I traveling to Florida.

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The park was beautiful. Grounds were well kept and statues and memories were far better than expected. I took a group of people here including younger children, everyone had a great time looking at these intricate statues and reading the relevance of each.

This park has a nice flow that gives each branch of service the honor they deserve. The grounds are maintained nicely and the monuments are beautiful.
StevePotts — Google review
By far the most inclusive Veteran Park that I have ever witnessed. Florence has honored every veteran from each era and captured all the emotions that entails. The water fountains were not hooked up but an older gentleman who is the caretaker for the property through the county was kind enough to offer myself and my wife two bottles of his own water. He did not serve but he has been working there for 5 years so I presented to him my personal veterans coin.
Mark M — Google review
Visited the park today for the first time with my Husband to honor those who sacrificed their lives and to learn about the history. It's such a beautiful dedication to those who served our country. I will definitely have to come back again when I'm in the area.

What a beautiful place to reflect on the men and women who served our country in every branch of the armed forces. The park is clean and quiet, and the sculptures and reflections are beautiful. Although the park is close to the hustle and bustle of the commercial district, the park feels like another world.

A beautiful and moving park. The monuments, plaques and ‘Wall of Tears’ fountain honor sacrifices made and endured with utmost dignity and sensibility. I wish for a world where war is no longer part of our story. A must visit.

We were driving through on Interstate and needed a picnic spot for the family to eat our fast food. This park was a beautiful option. It is well maintained, has a nice combination of grassy areas and walking paths. It is well labeled to explain the monuments which sparked some great conversation with the kids. Sights & Landmarks
Auto Race Tracks
This stock-car racetrack hosts NASCAR events & driving schools plus has an on-site museum.
A great experience everyone should have once in their life, or more. Easy access and parking. There is also an overnight camping area. The vendor area was really fun with a lot to buy. Admission price is very reasonable and every seat has a great view since it's a smaller NASCAR track
Kevin C — Google review
First time at this race track and it was a amazing experience. We stayed in Florence just outside of Darlington, getting to the track was easier than expected. Parking was not bad either, the police officers did an exceptional job with traffic control and letting people have fun without harassing. Fans were there to watch the race and party but were very respectful. After the race we stayed in the grandstands for about an hour then walked to the car and stayed for another 30 minutes to let the traffic lighten up. It was easy to get out and make it back to the hotel without big traffic jams. I would definitely say this would be a great race for the family to experience. 👍

We stayed in the infield for the 75th anniversary throw back race and lots of weird rules. No bicycles. Dogs can’t be outside of your campsite. Meaning you can’t walk them. Very very tight parking and hard to move around with a camper. Get in early cause if you don’t you won’t. Some of the long timers are not very understanding on why they can’t park there car in your campsite. Weird I know. But we had fun meet some of the drivers and did laps for charity.

Swan Lake Iris Gardens

Nature & Parks
Garden
Tranquil park known for its swans, geese & ducks, plus Japanese iris blooms & a lake with turtles.
Beautiful scenery, so many swans, beautiful flowers and plants! My husband and I took the kids here in honor of my Nana that passed a couple years ago. She lived just down the road and loved this place! It was very nostalgic to visit somewhere that was so close to her with my own little family that she never got the chance to meet. Some tears were shed but it was a beautiful day and experience ❤️
Shawna B — Google review
My boyfriend and I came here for a date and were blown away by how beautiful everything was. The garden is free to enter and has free parking, making it perfect for last-minute adventures, scenic strolls, or even a casual picnic. Seeing swans up close truly is a fairytale. From the moment we arrived, it was clear how well taken care of the park is. The lawns were beautifully maintained, the gardens are lush and vibrant, and not a single piece of litter was in sight. Every path, bench, and playground area looked clean and lovingly maintained. You can truly tell that the workers and volunteers pour their hearts into this space. The attention to detail in the flower beds, the butterfly garden, and even the swan habitats speaks volumes about how much care goes into keeping the park beautiful and welcoming. If you’re traveling through South Carolina or live nearby, this is a lovely spot to keep on your list. • Free parking & entry • Clean, accessible restrooms throughout the park • Plenty of benches and shaded picnic spots • A visitor center with helpful staff and local information • Featuring all 8 swan species in one public park

Very unique and beautiful place to spend an afternoon with friends and family, especially young children. Beautiful scenery filled with colorful flowers and many types of Swans, ducks, and geese from all over the Northern Hemisphere. A one of a kind Habitat that brings travelers from all over the globe. A true display of Gods elegant creations. Filled with paths that also bring knowledge of the landscape and free picnic areas and a shelter to rent for special occasions. A nice sized playground for children including an old firetruck for the kids to play on.

What a beautiful oasis in Sumpter! While traveling through the area I wanted to find a place to stop for a bit and take a break from driving. This place came up in my search and so glad it did. The garden is very well maintained and extremely relaxing. Large pond with a number of different species of swans and geese. Great walking trails with lots of shade too. Well worth a visit. Wish I lived closer.

Beautiful park! We enjoyed the 3/4 mile walk, the chocolate and butterfly gardens, and all the lovely swans with their babies. There are plenty of benches if you need them and a good amount of shade. The children's playground is great for kids as well.

This place is fantastic, even when it's really hot. There's plenty of shade, always maintained, bathrooms avail, and nature both brought in and thriving as well as naturally attracted. The gardening is gorgeous, and there's a little of everything for everyone. Make sure to visit both sides of the park, and also check out the Shot Pouch Greenway just behind it, thru the black border gate on the boardwalk side of the park. Great to visit as seasons change also!

Nice park that's bigger than it looks. We got here in the evening not long before closing. Of course, the main interest is the swans. Several varieties and they're always posing for pictures. We didn't have time to go over the bridge to the garden side. I'm told there's bike trails also.

Kalmia Gardens

Botanical garden
Nature & Parks
Gardens
Public botanical garden with woods, trails & diverse plant & animal life, plus educational programs.
I spent most of the day outdoors and loved every minute of it! Kalmia Gardens in Hartsville has so many trails to explore! I have to go back to complete the rest! I was not prepared for the mosquitos though. My repellent wasn't strong enough! I had to get some from the grounds guy. There are trail markers and lots of different terrain. Black Creek was so peaceful. There is a bathroom near parking and a porta potty at the trail end.

A wonderful place! We walked along the boardwalks and couldn't believe all the birds and different varieties of plants. I highly recommend it. Lots of stairs and tree roots be prepared. Only thing stopping me giving 5 stars is that they have fallen behind on maintenance and it could use donations and a face-lift. Support this oasis.

The Mrs. And I wanted to go for a walk outside. We hadn't been to Kalmia Gardens so mad a drive. It was very nice. Smaller than I expected, but in retrospect, quite a nice size park in such a small town. There is a nice old historic house and the oldest tree in SC. The tree reminded me of the lone Cypress in Monterey - kind of a cyborg of wood and supporting metal. But cool. If we go again we'll need to make several trips around the park to make it worth burning gas to take a walk.

Wonderful place to visit. We didn't get to walk the whole thing, but we did enjoy the time we were there. Lots of flowers were in bloom, so there was a lot of beauty to be seen. A neat little spot to see. Some of the pictures appear to be older as it is not as up kept as some show. With that being said, the time and effort that goes into keeping up with something of this scale is nothing short of extraordinary. The houses around must be family or great neighbors because their landscaping matches the garden. All in all....if you are near by or passing through thr area it is definitely worth a stop

So inspiring what one person can do. Beautifully sculpted landscape on private property made public through the owner's generosity. Neighbors have also sculpted their gardens. Not far off the highway and well worth the visit. Town is being revitalized with shops and cafes being added.

Well worth the trip to Bishopville. Mr. Fryer had such a gift, and I am glad there is someone who will be extending his legacy. I'm looking forward to the day when all the water features work again. I was also glad to see that the public bathroom is open.

This garden is a hidden gem. As I got closer, there is a sign on the right side of the road notifying me to turn at the next left. As I enter the street, I was greeted with some topiary on both side of the street. I entered a neighborhood where the topiary garden is located. Note, parking lot is a large grassy area facing the house/topicary garden in the left. To start the self guided tour, cross the street and go to the right side of the house when facing the house, and there is a station where you can get info and brochure on the garden. There is a donation box, and please make a donation. Mr Pearl is in his 80s and not able to maintain the grounds, and Mike is helping with maintenance including trimming the trees and bushes. Some topiary appeared to easily figure out. I think I saw a Cobra, swans, but many, if not all, are abstract art. Use your imagination. There are also creative art displays. For example, there were bells with chain decorating a dead tree, a fountain built with an old stove, etc... My appreciation for this park went hundred times after learning the story behind this park. We were blessed with running into Mike Gibby-Scissorhands Gibson, who shated the story with us. He was so informative and was so nice to stop what he was doing to talk to us and answered all our question. He said that Mr Pearl often sit outside to meet some visitors. The restrooms are on the right side of the house in the back.

It's a nice place to see, impressive that one man would take his time to do all that. I have to admit I was a little disappointed though. From the things I saw online when researching I thought it was some huge attraction that the family can enjoy and have a memorable day with. We drove 4 hours from GA (total of 8 hours round trip). Took about 10 minutes to see everything. This was supposed to be the highlight of the childrens spring break 😂😂. I really don't want to take away from his hard work. I am really in awe that the owner did all that personally, I just wish I had seen a honest review telling me I was traveling hours to go see someone's yard.

What a beautiful garden maintained very well. The sculptures are nice too. I hope people donate and help this place. It takes about 30 minutes to view the entire garden.

Cheraw State Park

State park
Outdoor Activities
Golf Courses
Park with woodlands, wetlands, Lake Juniper & a golf course, plus trails, a boardwalk & campsites.
We hiked to a beaver lodge between 2 scenic ponds and enjoyed lunch. It was idyllic and isolated because the longer loop trail is closed due to wind fall. But it's fine as an out and back. We found out about the trail closure and the nice picnic spot from the friendly ranger at the station. You must check out out. Great selection of stickers and souvenirs in addition to knowledgeable and friendly staff. The trail was overgrown, but still easy to follow using the trail reassurances/markers. The boardwalk and dam were fun. I would write more but the AI summary is accurate. I will definitely be back in the summer to enjoy the lake.

I highly recommend this state park for anyone who wants to go swimming, rent a boat, or play volleyball. There are plenty of picnic spots and grills for any occasions. If you like to play golf, there is a golf course next door. A beautiful place. We will be back.

This park is really beautiful. The lake and boardwalk are pretty and its just a very peaceful place to sit down and relax. We walked around and just explored for about an hour. We were blown away by how nice everything was.

Lovely place for a stroll, picnic, sightseeing, relaxation, jog, hike, etc.... Mostly flat trails for hiking. Well appointed golf course with ample parking. Lake Shore views, free to enter.

Great park! The campground is small but nice with a few spots that even have sewer access. The bathhouses are exceptionally cool in the summer (a plus!!). Highly recommend!

Absolutely beautiful and peaceful campground... Unfortunately we picked a weekend where we could barely breathe as the weather was close to 100 each day, we would highly recommend it & we definitely will go back

It was a great experience for me because I love almost everything outdoors. I love museums and history. I love fresh cut meat and a really good cheeseburger, and I got all of that while at the Roadside Market. My granddaughter had the ice cream, and of my goodness, the scoops are very big! The people were nice and attentive to our needs in the eating area as well. They come to you to give you refills. Try them out.

Stopped here on the way home from the beach. Love their fruits and produce. It is all cleaned before being put on the shelf. Homemade items from fruit breads, desserts, jellies, etc. Very clean place. They even serve ice cream! I rate this place a 10 star!
Donna R — Google review
This was actually a really cool place to visit. Two different businesses on site, a fruit market with fresh peaches best peaches I've had in a long time. Pickles, relish, BBQ sauce, spices and so on. In the second building you have a meat market that actually serves sandwiches, fries and so on. When you order your food they tell you to go have a seat and they will come to you, if you ordered any type of sweet tea or peach lemonade, they keep you topped off the whole visit. Definitely recommend the visit if you're in the area

A great place for a quick meal, including ice cream, fresh fruit, veggie and meat market. Plenty of fresh preserves, peanuts, and old timey candies. Clean looking store, very kind and helpful staff and really fair pricing. Just a win-win. And a cute pie antique museum. Great parking and I CAUGHT the staff washing the veggies they were boxing or stacking up....Yes, who does that?. I bought a lot of stuff, gotta start canning. Just go and stay awhile. I'm going back, really soon.

This is an amazing place to stop by, grab some fresh fruits and meats, check out the museum and then eat some fresh ice cream. Nice quarter to half day trip with the family. I tried the ice cream peaches and they were very juicy and lasted 2 weeks in the refrigerator. As compared to Phillip’s farm’s ice cream McLeod is the clear winner for me. We tried cherry cheesecake, peach and chocolate. Very fresh and delicious especially on the hot day.

Love this place, we visit every time we come back from the beach or NASCAR Races. The prices are very reasonable and the produce is always fresh. The employees are very friendly and professional with a great smile. The establishment is always clean and well organized. Definitely keep up the great work.

We've stopped here for years. This week my wife and I stopped again. Produce didn't look as good. Cantaloupes were great but the seedless melon was terrible. The center was like mashed potatoes. Very disappointing. Live 2 1/2 hrs away. I give this place a good rating for the years past. Most people stop because of travel. Live hours away before they find out how bad the produce is.
Danny B — Google review
We come here every year for the corn maze, and we always have a great time. The maze is always well done and a little hard to get out of. The pumpkin patch is awesome. It is about a mile long and they have all kinds of pumpkins. We go to get cooking ones and decorative ones, but they have some Hulks that are great for carving. They were only .49 cents a pound when we went. You can just pay $4 to go to the patch and pick pumpkins. The market and museum are also worth a trip.

Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site

History museum
Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
Museum charting the Revolutionary War & colonial era in an 18th-century mansion on an old estate.
This is a Revolutionary War site. There is a city museum across the parking lot that tells some of the history of the area, beginning with the Native Americans. There are multiple houses to visit on the property. There are folks dressed in period costumes to relate historical information and answer questions. We also saw men working as blacksmiths and were treated to a demonstration of a cannon being shot.
C. P — Google review
The Battle of Camden took place during the American Revolution. It was a bad loss for us but this allowed for Nathaniel Greene to step in and lead our southern troops as general. Greene was a great leader and would become a hero of the South! There is plenty to see at Camden, old historic structures & homes from the time period. You can also see the house that Cornwallis (British) stayed at! The actual battlefield is 8 miles away and you can park and find the flags where our soldiers fell. One large granite stone was placed there to remember a Scottish soldier that died right there. Scotlands Royal Guard flew out from Scotland to pay tribute to their fallen soldier. Many of these soldiers were quickly buried just 6 inches under the soil during the Revolution. However, in the last 2 yrs, Camden has reburied all 13 soldiers found with full honors and new granite military headstones! I came for the celebration and was really moving to tears. There are several staff members on site to answer any questions. As we all celebrate 250 yrs of America, this is a place to visit and find our early history!

I doubt that many Americans really understand the Revolutionary War. Everyone has heard of Washington and maybe the crossing of the Delaware River, but his many know of the battle of Camden, Cowpens, Kings Mountain? The Camden Revolutionary Park is a wonderful piece of history. We took the tour and learned about the original village, the coming of the Kershaw family and the growth of Camden into the largest, and most important backwater town in all of the southern USA. As this place grows it will turn into even a better representation. The Visitor Center is really great and walks you through the entire southern campaign of the British invasion and how the Patriots turned the tide, mainly because of what happened in battles all around this part of SC. For a history buff it was very well done.

Neat little site with replica fortifications and some Colonial era buildings. The self guided tour was $10 for adults and took us about an hour to go through everything. Easy walking trails and beautiful grounds: a nice place to spend this bright and sunny Saturday afternoon.

Lots to see here in this reconstructed historic site. They've put lots of effort into the buildings they moved there, etc. The stockade was fun for my kids and so was the well.
D C — Google review
A great place to learn about the history of our town and the Revolutionary War. There are lots of events/activities that go on here every month. They have house tours, lantern tours, tea parties, craft classes, and demonstrations happening all the time. We come and walk the grounds and the nature trail alot. The trail is short and flat, but if it has rained it will be muddy in places. It runs along the Pine Tree Creek.
Beth M — Google review
Lots of reconstructed buildings, helpful staff. Take note that this is not the actual battle site; it’s about 15 minutes up the road.
Josh C — Google review
There's a Goth festival here every year with speakers on a wide range of subjects both Historical and speculative, plus vendors selling material historically and subjectively related to the festival and history. The museums and locations on the site were beautifully period, educational and we specifically enjoyed the surprisingly delightful stories each unique to the local and regional areas. One could easily make a fun filled day, evening or several hours visiting during a special event, or set aside an hour or two during normal hours to enjoy the museums,& buildings built & preserved with interactive American revolutionary war period pieces and stories.

Lake Wateree State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
State-run grounds for fishing & boating, plus walking/biking trails & camping accommodations.
We always enjoy Lake Wateree State Park. We pull our camper there and stay for a couple of night a few times a year. The sites on the water are nice, but you don't have a lot of room on most of them, so camp on the water, give up some space, or camp away from the water and have more space. The camp store has most anything you might need. Great Falls is 20 or 30 minutes away, of you need a Walmart. There's a boat ramp and kayak rentals. Nice place.
Renee H — Google review
The picnic area, nature trail, and playground were nice and mostly clean. The nature trail is great for kids as it is very easy. There are swings overlooking the lake that are well maintained and comfortable. It is a great way to spend the morning exploring with young kids and even better if you have a kayak or paddle board.
Elisabeth M — Google review
Lake Wateree is great for camping, campsites are large and mostly level for easy setup. We got a lake view site with wonderful views and the site was so level we didn't have to use levelers. Lot of boats on the lake and they have a nice hiking trail along with other amenities. Bathhouses are pretty clean with nice showers. The area around the tackle shop is beautiful with many picnic tables good views of the lake. Would definitely recommend this state park.
David M — Google review
This park has made a lot of improvements since I first started visiting. No more swarms of mayflies, they cleared out the trees and bushes that were obstructing the walkway from the playground to the shoreline, and they've got a food truck out there. I wish there was more convenient spots for fishing and swimming. But maybe that will come in time.
Paintball D — Google review
Beautiful lake! From a kayaker's perspective, the one thing I don't care about are all the power boats. With a kayak, however, it's nice to explore the various creeks and places power boats can't navigate.

Kermit and Anita (our hosts at Taylor Creek Landing), went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. They paid high attention to the comings and goings. Our first time here. We met friends to celebrate their birthdays and had a great time. They have many seating areas that are spaced away from each other. They sell cheese and crackers and other simple snacks, so you have something to eat while enjoying the wine. The wine is delicious and reasonably priced with the highest priced bottle at $20. The staff are friendly and helpful. The vineyard has a pond, a loft/ deck built in a sturdy tree that you can rent for a few hours, and two cozy tree houses that rent nightly with all the comforts of home. A very relaxing environment, just a short drive from Charlotte that will leave you feeling recharged after your stay.

Absolutely love this place!! They hold events every weekend from Latin nigh and soul night to many more. It’s a laid back place to enjoy with friends or family. Food trucks are available on the weekends and you’re welcome to bring your own food if you choose too, but no drinks of any kind are allowed. The fee for events is very low, and the wine membership, you get many other discounts. The membership is free to join and commit to only 3 bottles quarterly, and honestly is not hard to keep at all considering they have really good award winning wines to choose from.

After an impromptu car trip, we discovered a ‘Soul’ themed night at this massive vineyard. Outside food is welcome (not beverages). You can also bring your own chairs/tables, blankets and I highly recommend bug spray. Or you can reserve a table under a lighted tent. The music is cool and the treehouse is definitely present - a bit intimidating for my first visit but maybe next time. Lovely place to catch the sunset. Parking 🅿️ maybe sticky depending on what’s happening.

We visited the Treehouse Vineyards on a Saturday afternoon while driving back to Charlotte. Staff were friendly and there was a large assortment of wines, beer, non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. The Treehouse was huge and the views were stunning from the Treehouse and throughout the vineyard. There was plenty of seating with rocking chairs and chairs, even at the top of the Treehouse. They offer live music for a $5 cover charge on the weekend starting at 7:00 pm. Highly recommend!

Treehouse Vineyard has the look and feel of a peaceful Southern getaway, but our experience was anything but welcoming. From the moment we arrived, the wine tasting host and staff made it clear they did not care for guests who looked like myself and my group. Despite making up the majority of the guests there, we were deliberately avoided and treated dismissively. Even our two child guests were met with cold stares and unnecessary explanations about prices, as if we didn’t belong or couldn’t afford to be there. Meanwhile, the non-brown patrons were treated warmly and with ease. It was a sad reminder that in 2025, there are still places in the South where subtle (and not-so-subtle) racism lingers. I encourage anyone planning to visit to read the reviews first — I wish we had.

Don’t bother. Go to Rocky River for a true experience. Supposedly Dennis Vineyards (DV) was purchased by a new owner a few months ago. We stopped at DV today. It’s a roadside wine/beer patio. Only a couple of DV wines available, a few non-DV branded wines, and some can/bottle beers. We asked the server lady which DV wines had won awards but she had no clue. My wife had a glass of non-DV wine and I had a beer. Went to the outdoor patio to enjoy the drink in the warm weather. When I poured my beer into the glass there was no foam/head. It was flat. I checked the BB date and it was this week. I brought it back in to the bar and looked in the fridge to find a beer that was not expired. After four different brands I finally found one! So many of the bottles/cans had expired in February or in early March. BEWARE unless you enjoy stale beer. After finishing our drinks on the patio, I brought the glasses & can back to the bar and the server asked if I was going to pay the additional $1 for the beer I replaced the flat one with! I asked if she was serious… she was. I gave her the buck and suggested they not serve expired beer. No customer service here. No worries, I will not ever return.

Visited here on Saturday afternoon. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have a nice patio, that overlooks the vineyard, to sit on and enjoy a glass of wine. The wine we tried was good, the blueberry was very good. They also have wine slushies that were good. The have a good selection of sweet and fruit wines.

Dennis Vineyards is easily one of our favorite wineries around. They have an extensive portfolio of wines, and I would recommend every one that we tried. Definitely a cool place to hang out with friends for an hour or two and enjoy a wine tasting. They have a stunning facility that is a great place for weddings or group events. This is also a very romantic location for a perfect date.

The Alphabet Museum at JAARS

Specialty Museums
Cool history about languages all around the world. It is free and also has an english phone audio tour by scanning the QR code. It also has some small Activites for kids like arabic sound puzzles, stamping and drawing your birthdate in Mayan which is fun for kids, my toddler also enjoyed it!

Jaars alphabet Museum in Waxhaw. This first display you see when you come in the door is the tower of Babel. You can zoom in on the pic to see the detail. If you’re not familiar, JAARS is a missionary organization spreading the gospel message. They use special-purpose aircraft, boats and off-road vehicles to cover the last remote, miles of the mission field.
Rhsikes — Google review
This museum is part of the JAARS complex which means the museum does have a leaning towards a biblical lens for their displays; however, I was pleasantly surprised at how culturally sensitive the exhibits were for the most part. While there is a lot of text, there is a cell phone your you can scan a QR code for, available wheelchairs and seating in most rooms, and some interactive elements for young people. Very nice volunteers and, if you time it right, there is also a museum with a history of the JAARS organization that is on a different schedule as well as a gift shop and cafe inside the JAARS main building which I didn't explore in detail.

Love seeing places like this. So important to have a history of our languages and Bible translations. We did a self guided tour with 7 kids (Ages Infant to 13). The "scavenger hunt bags" helped keep the kids engaged. I'd love to come back without kids and spend more time learning.

Nature & Parks
Museum
Andrew Jackson State Park is a park with historical significance in the area where Andrew Jackson grew up. The park provides visitors with a museum, educational programs, and opportunities for camping and fishing. It features walking trails that require some repairs as they appear to have been neglected over time. Despite this, it remains one of the most beautiful state parks to visit due to its peacefulness and cleanliness.
Decided to randomly swing by on my way back to Charlotte from Columbia. A nice way to break up the drive and learn a thing or two about our 7th president. There is a lake that you can rent canoes/boats and camp around. The trail was closed/under water halfway around, but Llots of families having a good time fishing.
Bently E — Google review
Andrew Jackson State Park is a small park with limited activities, yet it is still a nice and worthwhile visit. There is a small but informative museum on the history of Andrew Jackson, the park's namesake. A small one-room school house is also present along with a statue and several marker stones. There are several day-use shelters available for rent as well. They were busy and being used the weekend we were there with large gatherings. In the museum is a small store with a few souvenirs but no supplies. There is also a nice playground in a shaded grove that the kids enjoyed. There is a campground with 24 sites. The sites are small and relatively close together yet you still felt there was some privacy. We stayed in sites 21 and 23 and unfortunately it rained hard all night one evening and those sites are the low spots so we had rivers running thru the sites. The bathrooms were typical state park bathrooms but were relatively clean and close. The sites are small and I wouldn't advise a rig bigger than 30ft for most sites. The campground loop is very short and somewhat tight. Our 30 foot bumper pull was easy to get through but there is limited site parking for other than your tow vehicle. Water pressure was adequate if not a little low. There is a small lake very close to the campground that is very clear and very shallow. Swimming is NOT allowed, but you can kayak or rent pedal and flatbottom boats. There is also a nature trail that circles the lake but it was "closed" while we were there. You can actually walk about 90% of the trail, but there is a wetland area with a boardwalk and the boardwalk is falling apart which is what is closed. The campground is in the flight path for Charlotte airport so there are continual jets flying overhead and the park is also close to a highway so you hear traffic and emergency vehicle frequently. Cell service is acceptable with us having at least 2 bars of signal almost everywhere.

“Perfect spot for a quick getaway from Concord! This park features a scenic and manageable 1-mile loop that’s great for a short walk or light hike. We visited on a Saturday afternoon, and it was pretty quiet — peaceful and not crowded at all. The trail winds through beautiful natural surroundings, though some sections were a bit muddy, so sturdy shoes are a good idea. Overall, a lovely place for a relaxing outdoor escape!”

Quiet and peaceful. Lots of nature. Beautiful park with trails to hike. Really nice exhibits to go through. Camp hosts was very friendly and helpful. I believe his name is Sonny and his dog AJ. Reed Gold Mine, located in Midland, is a 19th-century mine that holds the distinction of being the site of America's first documented commercial gold find. The visitors center offers exhibits detailing the history of the gold rush and showcasing mining equipment. Visitors can explore portions of the restored underground tunnels and learn about North Carolina's gold mining history.
Very interesting. Neat museum with artifacts and information on gold mining in the US. Spent some time walking through the trails just before the museum opened and was able to see plenty of nature including turtles, squirrels and birds. It was beautiful. The coolest part was being able to see explore the underground mine.

Great time, I was surprised just how large the park is. Well maintained and awesome experience, free to enter and explore as it’s a state park, there is the option to do a guided tour for like $2.00 which is a steal! The mine is super cool, it was 97* out and inside the mine was 60* if you come on a cool day bring a jacket if you’re sensitive, also due to humidity and the level of the water table the mine does have water that drips from the ceiling so plan accordingly bring a hat at minimum. Lots of areas for picnics and just to relax with the fam. The museum is awesome as well with many display pieces and cool information.

This was a great place to stop! Very interesting history and it was cool to be able to walk through the mine! Just a heads up, if you don’t like bats, don’t go in the mine. We went in and saw 2 within a minute of being in the mine! We asked one of the workers and he said they estimate the mine to have anywhere around 30 of them! The trail was an easy walk, but make sure to grab a map first! They also had panning which was a neat little activity.

My sister came up for a visit from out of town and her kids wanted to see Americas first Gold Mine. We got there mid afternoon and went into to Welcome Center. The staff in the front were very friendly and helpful. We first went and watched the video explaining the history of the mine. Once that ended we did a self guided tour through the goldmine. It was a short walk there and very hot outside. As soon as we got near the mine you could feel a nice cool blast of air coming out of the mine. It was quite interesting to walk through and see all the old shafts and mining equipment. After exploring the goldmine we walked a little around the trail which was interesting but really hot outside so we went back to the Exhibit Area. Unfortunately we wanted to try panning for gold but it was closed due to the extreme heat. Hopefully next time we visit it will be open and we can experience all the park has to offer.

this is one of my favorite places to go to, just walking up to the entrance of the mine is amazing to me - feeling the cool air coming out, all the quartz rock everywhere, moss and fungus mushrooms growing underground on the walls. I highly recommend that you visit this place in North Carolina’s history!

I've brought my kids here a couple times to try and do something outside of the normal weekends while going through the daily grind of work and Summer days. For a little state park, it it very interesting and packs a lot of value for the limited cost. There's a mine you can walk through, which is amazing when its 100° outside. The entrance starts blowing crisp cool air as you walk through the entrance. It's wet, damp, and smells of fresh earth. It's surprising. There are a lot of informative displays in the museum with geology information. There are also a bunch of displays about gold, gold products, and history of the gold mine itself. Outside, there is a place to pan for gold. Don't expect a large nugget, but its not impossible to find one. Nuggets are very small when found, though. They sell gold nuggets in the help center if you really need one and don't find one while panning. You can also purchase pans and dirt in the visitor center. There are walking trails where you can follow around the estate and find a recreation of a mill, the mansion hill, and the reed graveyard. The staff are all helpful, kind, and willing to answer any question you might have. Take the time and visit this place to learn something new, experience something different, and spend time with your family to make a memory.

Fun time. Enjoyed the tour & the museum. To hot to pan because of heat index (112°F to 115°F) the day we were there. So we bought home a panning kit and some extra pay dirt, worked it at home in the A/C and we found some small pieces of gold.

Awesome experience. You will learn about the history and also look the actual site. There is a small store and restroom on site. Parking area is unpaved. There are small trails. Self guided tour is available. Volunteers are knowledgeable.

Four Mile Creek Greenway

Nature & Parks
Four Mile Creek Greenway, managed by Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation, offers a 5.8-mile boardwalk and paved trail experience through natural forest, wetlands, and wooded areas in Matthews. The greenway is perfect for hiking, cycling, wildlife viewing, walking, running, and biking. Visitors can spot wildlife such as the Great Blue Heron, deer, frogs, and turtles along the serene escape.
Haven't been by in a while (probably before the new parking lot)...place is as charming and peaceful as ever. Always some critters to see and if you can find...little spots off the beaten path with more scenic tranquility (be mindful though, stay safe and respect others property).

20250426: The Four Mile Creek Greenway is a beautiful break from the surrounding suburbia. The paths level and are paved or are boardwalks. Be mindful that the boardwalks are slippery when wet, particularly when there are wet leaves on the path. Also, stay on the path and do not touch the vines on trees adjacent to the path. Many of these vines are Poison Ivy. Importantly, in the Spring and Fall, snakes might warm themselves on the pavement at dusk. Some are copperheads, which are venomous, and some might be corn snakes, which look similar. Both eat rats, so, please, just avoid the snakes and do not hurt them. On a nice note, you are likely to see tall stilt-legfed birds like herons. Other birds, frogs, turtles, etc., as well. There are public bathrooms at the end, and there are shops like Pikes Nursery, Starbucks, Trader Joe's, and restaurants at the exit points.

TUE 2025.07.20 ~06:00, after parking the shopping area in Quail Commons, Out i went on ~5+ miles walk (CW-Loop): Four Nile Creek Greenway, and the neighborhood. Charlotte Rail Trail, and the neighborhood. Nice and relatively cool high 70s_F. The Greenway was well-maintained and clean. Encountered a total of ~30+ people (some Walking, Jogging, or Cycling) and ~8 dogs. Everyone's cheery and friendly. The neighborhood was looks pretty and nice.

It’s a great trail and it’s very long. Paved and/or wooded so you can wear your favorite sneaks! 👟 I’m grateful there’s restrooms and a little parking lot but 1) I wish less people knew about it because it gets very crowded at certain times of the week. and 2) why aren’t there any trash cans in the restrooms ?? 😩 I don’t get it.

While it wasn’t the prettiest it could be, this was a fun path to run. Would be stunning in fall or spring (if not flooded). Lots of rain had made some parts a muddy mess, but still had fun. Next time I’m in NC with friends I will run this again!

This Greenway is perfect for long or short walks, especially if you like a trail with a tree canopy. The trail goes through swampy areas so there is occasionally a bit of an odor. The trails are a combination of wood plank (through the swampy sections) and concrete. There are mild inclines and declines, so the trail is an easy one of you prefer to walk on a predominantly flat service. The greenway is used by walkers, runners and bicyclists so always keep to the right unless you're passing.

Beautiful 4 mile hiking area in the woods Its well maintained. Parking is limited, plan to park nearby or on the street. Cant wait to go here in summer.

Very nice walk on a fall afternoon. Bicyclists need to be trained better and actually make audible warnings, nearly got clipped twice on one afternoon. Calm and peaceful, overall. Needs some trash pickup.

Fountain Park, located in Rock Hill's Old Town, is a popular community area featuring a large lawn and event space centered around a striking circular fountain with illuminated displays. The fountain is renowned for its captivating lights and sounds show, especially enchanting during the festive season. Once considered the 'ugliest parking lot in Rock Hill,' the park has undergone a remarkable transformation into a beloved attraction for both locals and visitors.
Beautiful park in Rock Hill, SC with a huge water fountain. Went to the Old Town market here. Market happens every Saturday until October 26, 2024 from 9am-2pm. Lots of free parking. Enjoyed looking around.

Beautiful and well maintained park. Quiet. Not as busy as I thought. It was raining earlier so it may have been a factor to that. It's relatively flat, so it's good for riding a bike or skateboard. I'm not sure if that's allowed but I'd do it anyway. The mist of the fountain water is very refreshing from all of the humidity that we have to deal with. Loved watching the water go up and down, especially when it would hit its peak.

What a charming little park! It’s a delightful, family-friendly spot that's perfect for spending quality time together. They were getting ready to screen a movie, which added an extra layer of excitement to the atmosphere!

Wow, this fountain is stunning. It was an unexpected surprise when we pulled off the interstate to check out the city of Rock Hill. The fountain had different patterns to go through. And I was surprised at the size and how far the water shot into the air. There was an amphitheatre and several benches around to be able to sit down. I believe I seen a drinking fountain as well. Would love to see this at nighttime.

I just stopped thru the park one night after leaving a restaurant for dinner. I took a stroll and sat and watched the water for a little while. It was very peaceful and calm. The weather was very pleasant. It just so happened to be the night of the strawberry moon. The sky was beautiful and the moon was radiant that night. I loved the beautiful flowers they have planted there at the park also. The hydrangeas were in full bloom. The huge water bugs crawling around was a bit scary I must add. There were tons of them. I guess you can expect to see water bugs where there is a huge water fountain though...lol. I ended up going back to my car and chilling for a while as I watched the fountain in motion. I opened up my sunroof to get a glimpse of the beautiful red moon. Even dozed off for a quick nap while I was out there. It was a great visit at the fountain. I must go more often .

I went there for the farmers market. There are vendors set up on either side of the park. Lots of varieties from fresh veggies to fresh sourdough breads to craft vendors.

This is a great place to just chill. I like coming here with our dogs and walking around. The sound of the water is very calming and there's enough space to sit and read or just meditate. The fountain is centrally located shops and restaurants as well.

For a small entrance fee, visitors can enjoy campsites, a boat launch, swings on the pier, and a beach surrounded by beautiful natural scenery. This is an amazing hidden gem! We are so excited to have found this place. It has 82 camping sites ALL paved and beautiful with just enough trees. It's a York County park in Rock Hill sc. There is an amazing playground with like a rubber ground cover. The bathrooms are so slender and spacious. The little beach area is so perfect for swimming. I can't say enough sood things about this park it's 100% a place we will come back to.

Ebenezer Park is such a beautiful and relaxing spot. I really enjoyed the beach area where you can sit by the water and enjoy swimming. Many people come here for camping, and the atmosphere feels very peaceful. The best part is that the entry is free, which makes it even better for families and friends to spend the day together. The lake view is amazing, and the sunsets here are absolutely stunning. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area.

Ebenezer Park is a fantastic summer retreat! The recent upgrades have made it even more inviting, with plenty of amenities to enjoy. Whether you're looking to relax on the beach, let the kids explore the play area, or have a picnic by the water, there's something for everyone. The park also offers convenient facilities like concession stand, restrooms, showers, and ample parking, plus great options for outdoor activities—volleyball, tennis, and boating ramps! And with only a nominal entry fee, it's an affordable way to spend a fun and refreshing day.

Who doesn’t love a good waterfront place? So we ended up here since it’s only about 20 minutes from us. But once we arrived, we found out that if you aren’t from York County, you have to pay $12/ adult, which I felt was a bit high. However, since we got there at 8pm and the park closes at 9pm, the lady at the front let us in without any charge, which was nice. Coming to the park, definitely a very good vibe, beautiful views! There were a lot of trailers parked and many people were camping, something to explore! There’s a small beach that looked very clean and nice to swim in. There’s also a lovely pier area to walk around, which had a lot of swings, so if you’re visiting around sunset, it’s a great spot to enjoy the view. I would say a good waterfront park overall! But it’s only worth the entry fee if you come in the morning and make the most of it. There’s also a nice playground for the kids and restrooms where you can change clothes.

Such a beautiful park! There’s a huge parking area, a nice playground for kids, and even a beach. The walking bridge with swings is so pretty — perfect for photos or just relaxing. You can go jet skiing, boating, or paddleboarding here too. Everything about this place is just great — peaceful, clean, and fun for everyone! 🌳🚤🌅

This place is a hidden gem in plain sight. This park has everything that you can possibly think of, a lake with a beach, a pier for fishing, shelters for celebrating birthday parties, clean restrooms, ramps for boats, kids play area and many more features. A York county canteen provides condiments at reasonable prices. A 10/10 from me.
