Been to quite few beaches. This has to be on of my favorites. The view of the endless sky line during sun sets and sun rises are a must see. Loads of places to eat, rides can to enjoy, shop even get braids in the hair. They have a place to fish and swimming in the water is great. Not a lot of shells to step on just watc out for the waves in certain time of year. First time ever been here and find everyone very friendly. Check out the aquarium if get a chance.
Lost M — Google review
Always love camping here. The campground is clean and quiet. The campground is surrounded by trees which gives you lots of shade, but is very close to the beach. And the pier is great for fishing or just sightseeing.

We love this place! This is our second time to stay here. We love the park. It’s clean, showers are clean and have hot water. Everyone is nice. The spaces are big. We love being so close to the beach. The bike trails are great! Restaurants are close and very good choices. We love it!

Myrtle Beach State Park—A Peaceful Break from the Crowds! As out-of-towners visiting Myrtle Beach, we were looking for something quieter and more natural—and Myrtle Beach State Park was the perfect find. Just a few minutes from the main strip, it felt like stepping into a totally different world. The shady walking trails, wide-open beach, and calm ocean views gave us a chance to slow down, breathe, and actually enjoy the coast without the noise and traffic. We loved how clean and well-maintained everything was, from the restrooms to the nature center. The fishing pier gave us a great view of the beach, and we loved exploring the park and spotting the local wildlife. If you’re looking to visit the area and want a break from the usual tourist spots, this park is a hidden gem worth every minute!!
Cory K — Google review
Went camping here a few weeks ago. Great experience. Your camp site will have an electrical outlet and a water spout. There is also a grill/ fire pit in your area as well. I had a nice corner lot. The bathroom was clean but not like home. Not as much privacy as I was expecting. The gaps in the stall made it uncomfortable for me to go. Otherwise I definitely recommend staying/ camping/ glamping here. Right on the beach, perfect for fishing and swimming.
Lakisha H — Google review
Absolutely loved being here for my very first vacation and tent camping for a week. My kids loved all the animals and we all enjoyed all the friendly people that work here and in all the surrounding areas. Will for sure be making memories here to last a lifetime I can't wait for my next vacation best first vacation ever. I was also so excited to be able to get all the geocaches for this state park.

Myrtle Beach State Park is a hidden gem amomg other peirs within the area! Our visit was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The park is incredibly well-maintained, with clean restrooms, shaded picnic areas, and plenty of walking trails that are both peaceful and scenic. The beach itself is gorgeous—less crowded than the main Myrtle Beach area, making it ideal for a relaxing family day by the water. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the Nature Center was a fun and educational stop for the kids. We saw sea turtles, learned about local wildlife, and even got to explore the pier for some amazing views. If you're looking for a place to enjoy nature without the chaos of the tourist strip, this is it. Whether you're into hiking, fishing, camping, or just soaking up the sun—Myrtle Beach State Park is a must-visit!

Theme park
Family Kingdom Amusement Park is a beachfront attraction in Myrtle Beach, offering a variety of rides, games, and a Ferris wheel. The park features 38 rides suitable for kids, families, and thrill-seekers alike. From classic wooden rollercoasters to modern swings and slingshots, there's something for everyone. Visitors can opt for unlimited ride wristbands or single ride tickets. With onsite parking available, the park provides a festive carnival atmosphere perfect for families and couples.
Got the early bird pricing, $30 wrist bands. Went on a Wednesday, first week of June. Had hardly any wait for rides, the park was clean and considering some of our local fairs are $25-30 per wrist band, I felt this was a good deal. Small enough to get through in a couple hours, big enough to have thrills for the older kids, plenty of rides for younger kids as well.
Betsy A — Google review
We had such a great time at Family Kingdom Amusement Park! The park opens at 5 PM, which is perfect since the weather is cooler in the evening. Parking was easy with plenty of spots available on the street. The unlimited wristbands are a fantastic deal—kids can enjoy riding as much as they want, and parents or guardians don’t have to buy tickets just to enter the park. There’s a really nice variety of rides, from exciting thrill rides to plenty of kid-friendly options, so it’s fun for all ages. The lines were short and easy to manage, which made the evening even more enjoyable. Overall, it’s a wonderful way to spend time together as a family, and we highly recommend it!
Bugs S — Google review
We had a fun afternoon out during our first visit to Family Kingdom this past Sunday. I am so happy that the gloomy weather that day cleared out and made way for a beautiful sunny day. So our first visit went on without a glitch. I definitely love the wide variety of thrill rides, family rides, games, concessions,. The atmosphere was fun and casual, the employees were friendly, and this place definitely attracts a wide variety of people of all ages. I very much enjoyed my three rides on the historic swamp fox coaster. I look forward to coming again in the future.
Ricardo A — Google review
I took my two kids (age 2&7) and they both absolutely loved it! There were things for both of them to do & enjoy which is hard to find at amusement parks! Food was also very good! Rating 4 instead of 5 bc there were rides that other kids who were smaller than mine were able to do but mine weren’t allowed—so basically it’s up to the discretion of the ride operator but my kids didn’t understand that. Other than that though it was a very nice little amusement park!
Megan R — Google review
The best place for fun for people who like adrenaline and excitement, great for sharing with the family. There are mechanical attractions for children of all ages. The bracelet includes all the attractions and as many times as you want to do them, which makes it cheaper than paying for each one. The only downside is that it doesn't include parking, but it's affordable to be there from the time they open until they close, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. ($20).
Yely G — Google review
I took my 4 kids back in the late 90s til 2005 and now I take my 6 grandkids and their parents . we had a blast! the kids didn't want to leave. we are going back in September before they close for the winter. I wish they would stay open through October.
Randi S — Google review
It was a step back in time for this sandlapaper with my grands! It's not the same crowded place of years ago, but my grandchildren loved their experience there. Actually nice , no waiting long lines for the rides!
Tonya B — Google review
Not long lines, rides seemed well kept. Kind of limiting only being open from 5 to 10 pm, but i had enough after a few hours. Grandkids enjoyed it.

Nice boardwalk, alot of shopping center that offers a wide variety of entertainment options. The place is has a plenty of options for restaurants and shops. An aquarium just right by the conner. Good time spent with family-friendly place. Also it is a beautiful boardwalk to walk, bike or running. This is a lot of fun.

This place needs a big time makeover. I don't know if it was the hurricane or what but I was here. Maybe 15 years ago 20 and it was completely different. This place looks like a ghost town. There was absolutely nobody in the streets. It was all run down. Nobody was open me, my wife, my dog. And maybe 6 people in the street, poor Myrtle Beach, you guys have lost it.!!!!!!!
LAND R — Google review
Great area to relax and enjoy the fresh ocean air. Lots of activities for the kids, family, or a solo trip for yourself. Don’t forget the amount of food and drinks around that will fill your belly with joy!
Lary L — Google review
Only went for a day to enjoy the beach. Safeguards were present along with the police, so I felt very safe. The parking was pricey/ actually quite ridiculous, but luckily I found a lot off of Ocean Blvd and 6th Ave S for all day parking @ $15. I enjoyed the few hours I visited but that was all I needed to rejuvenate.
L G — Google review
Great way to walk, shop, and eat with an ocean view.

Great place to go for a walk, and you can’t beat the view. Getting a little dated, but in many ways that’s why you go back.

Had a great experience on the SkyWheel in Myrtle Beach! The ocean view from the top is absolutely stunning — a must-try when visiting. Each ride is about 3 rounds (around 5 minutes), and it even pauses at the top long enough to really enjoy the fantastic view. Highly recommend!
Kay D — Google review
We purchased our tickets online and found a buy one get one half off promo code making two tickets just over $33 we visited the store it was very nice lots of items the pricing is about average for what you find. Nothing particularly cheap or anything. Decent bathrooms for those who want to eat at the Landshark they have a lot of items to choose from there. Now as far as the SkyWheel, we enjoyed our flight and had a great time we got a full 4 1/2 rotations the ride last approximately 20 minutes and the people who get you situated were very friendly and we were able to have laughs with them before the ride began

Absolutely beautiful. I enjoyed myself down on the boardwalk. They had a big Jeep convention there this past weekend and it was really nice seeing all of the Jeeps. Pier 14 was really nice as well and I highly recommend this as a weekend staycation area. There are a lot of hotels along the boardwalk that you can stay in and a lot of restaurants.

Was an amazing experience. Scary if you're afraid of heights, it's 187 ft in the air, the ride itself is 200 ft. Went at night time. Lights are beautiful. Fairly quick lines. You get quite a bit of pictures if you buy the photo package, you get a frame as well and a keychain and a magnet for the fridge and few wallet copy's. And we went around seven times instead of four 😂
Nettie — Google review
So much fun and beautiful views! Sometimes they'd let people on and you'd get to be at the top when it stopped! The girls were so sweet and waved at us each time we passed by! They take your picture before you get on for souvenirs, so make sure you look cute! There was no wait for us to get on either! 😉
Kaitlyn T — Google review
What a great ferris wheel ride. I went with a friend and a new friend who was living her best life after a near death experience. She was fearful but once the ride began she completely enjoyed it. The view was amazing and the ocean view on Myrtle Beach was most excellent!!! Go please!
Colleen Z — Google review
Skywheel was really cool. Don't really like heights but if you decide to do it, it's a really neat experience. Great views overlooking the ocean and area. The cabins are cool so it's not hot, and they are also clean.

Broadway at the Beach is a vibrant outdoor entertainment hub nestled in the heart of Myrtle Beach, covering an impressive 350 acres. This lively complex offers a delightful mix of dining, shopping, and family attractions surrounding a picturesque man-made lake. Visitors can explore an array of restaurants and bars that cater to all tastes—from casual eateries to lively nightclubs like the House of Blues and Margaritaville. The atmosphere is electric with live shows, including free summer events featuring stilt walkers and fire dancers.
🌟 Broadway at the Beach – A Must-Visit Family Gem in South Carolina! 🌟 Just wow. Broadway at the Beach was hands-down one of the most enjoyable, vibrant, and memory-packed places our family has ever visited! This place isn’t just a shopping area — it’s like stepping into a theme park, but with food, fun, and that good old Southern charm that makes you feel right at home. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Everything is so well-designed — like a playground for all ages. You’ve got restaurants, entertainment, shops, and beautiful waterfront paths all wrapped into one epic destination. The energy was buzzing, but still super family-friendly. We didn’t feel rushed or overwhelmed. Instead, we could just be — explore, laugh, eat, and chill. The food options? Insane. Every corner had something that smelled better than the last — from seafood to gourmet burgers to candy shops that pulled the kids in like magnets. And let’s talk about the entertainment: live music, rides, games, mini golf, escape rooms, mirror mazes, and even fireworks at night. Broadway at the Beach doesn’t play around — they’ve got something for everyone. Seriously. It felt like every step brought a new surprise, whether it was street performers, photo ops, or just the lively crowd of happy people soaking it all in. My family couldn’t stop smiling. We spent hours there and still didn’t want to leave. If you’re visiting Myrtle Beach and you don’t hit Broadway at the Beach… you’re missing out, big time. This place isn’t just a stop — it’s the main event. A must-see, must-eat, must-experience kind of spot. We loved every minute and will 1000% be back. 🙌🎡🍤🛍️

Great place to go and walk around as there are so many great shops to look for your special deals. There's plenty for you and your children/grands, nieces/nephews to do. From feeding fish, giant Ferris Wheel rides, paddle boats and so much more! Plan to be there at least 1/2 a day! Many great restaurants to choose from
Rose P — Google review
I Absolutely Love Broadway at the Beach, it's my favorite place to go when I'm in Myrtle Beach. They have something for everyone, it's like a one stop destination for the whole family. There are carnival rides, the Ripley Aquarium, multiple amazing escape rooms, and that's just to name a few attractions. The dinning options are amazing from walburgers to Paula Dean's to boardwalk food to Margaritaville and the list goes on and on! The shopping is phenomenal, there are fancy shops, candy stores, retro 80's shops, toy stores, Harley shops etc. It would take all day to name everything! I 100% recommend Broadway at the beach to single people, couples, and whole families, as there is something for everyone! This place is wheelchair accessible and they even have a spot to rent mobility scooters right near the main entrance
Trina D — Google review
A fun place to go instead of the beach! Lots of shops and restaurants to see. Check out the carp inside of the lake. You can find them in the corners just look over the dock. I definitely like it much better now with the new section that’s been added on. The new buildings, landscaping, shops and restaurants have brought new life into this place. Hopefully the revitalization will continue into the Old section because it needs it.
Summer R — Google review
We actually got to watch the fireworks at this location and saw the aquarium around the corner. The live music made it a fun environment! My kids had a blast! The kids rode the carousel and it wasn’t slow 😂. We traveled from Nashville Tn! Enjoyed every second of it! The aquarium was so much fun too! We got to catch the mermaid!

A great place to shop, eat, walk around or ride some rides. There are so many different unique shops to explore. There's something for everyone. Just a great place! Grumpy Monks has awesome food and beer!

This is a local tourist attraction . It has a small amusement park with several rides for the kids, shopping, restaurants, and other attractions. Some of these attractions include speed boat rides, paddle boats, Ripley's Aquarium, and a fish feeding area. It's actually a decent place to visit. You can easily spend a few hours here with the family.
Lawrence R — Google review
Broadway at the Beach is a collection of shops, attractions, restaurants and bars and is a "can't miss" for your trip to Myrtle Beach, especially on a chilly it overcast day. We went on a Sunday in late October and the weather was still good enough to hang out but definitely a day you wanted to spend doing more indoor activities than outdoor. Because it was off-season there were no crowds and no lines no waiting anywhere we went.... And lots of stuff on sale! There's probably nothing you can't find here, one of the highlights being the Ripley's aquarium. We did not go to wonderworks the upside down building but that look like fun as well. If you're looking to get your steps for the day this is definitely the place to do it ...you will put them all in without even realizing how much you've walked.

Aquarium
Nature & Parks
Ripley's Aquarium of Myrtle Beach is an 85,000-square-foot marine life attraction located in the Broadway at the Beach entertainment complex. It offers a variety of kid-friendly exhibits, dive tours, live shows, and a gift shop. Visitors can immerse themselves in the depths of the ocean and encounter bizarre glowing jellyfish, sharp-toothed predators, quirky penguins, and mystical green sea turtles.
I’ve only visited three aquariums in my life, but I can confidently say that this one is my absolute favorite. As I wandered through the various exhibits, I was surrounded by a vibrant crowd. Yet, the layout was spacious enough that I never felt cramped or overwhelmed. Each exhibit captivated my attention, but the highlight for me was the enchanting penguin habitat. Watching those playful creatures waddle and swim brought a smile to my face, making the experience truly unforgettable.
Ray O — Google review
We were absolutely thrilled! It’s a very large and beautiful aquarium with lots of fish, sharks, and an amazing underwater tunnel. There are fun activities for kids — both younger and older ones. The only thing I’d mention is that the ticket prices are a bit on the high side, especially since you mostly go there for the children. I think if you look for some coupons or discounts, you’ll enjoy it even more.
Anastasia T — Google review
What I really enjoyed about this aquarium is that it has a lot of sharks on like a lot of other aquariums I've been to this one in particular has more sharks than I've ever seen which is nice. The only downside about this aquarium is that it's targeted audience is very young so a lot of the activities are focused on children probably 10 and under. Wish they had more adult activities or teen activities besides little children. For that alumn I think the price is a little much for what they have to offer. The place is quite small after all there's only a few things you can see there. The sloths however were a bonus they were amazingly adorable and everybody looked well taken care of.
Bree G — Google review
We visited Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach on Saturday, Nov 8th, around 10:30 a.m. We had pre-purchased tickets online and walked right in without waiting, which was convenient. However, the ticket price felt extremely high compared to other aquariums we’ve visited across the U.S. Upon entering, guests are required to stop for a photo, which felt unnecessary, and the layout inside was a bit chaotic — it was easy to feel like you’d missed sections. Parents, do not let your kids crawl through the carpet tunnels. After our toddler went through several, I climbed into one to take a photo and immediately noticed a strong smell of urine and dirty surfaces. It was mortifying. We sanitized and continued on, but it definitely impacted the experience. Many of the tanks are positioned at adult height, which makes it harder for toddlers to see. That said, the floor-level tanks were great, and the overhead tunnel was impressive for adults. The mermaid show was a highlight, but we stumbled upon it by accident — wish we’d known in advance to get a good viewing spot. One of the most uncomfortable parts of the visit was feeling like we were being followed by a security guard throughout the aquarium. While I appreciate strong safety measures, the constant shadowing felt excessive and misplaced. Overall, the aquarium had some unique features, but between the steep pricing, sanitation concerns, and uncomfortable atmosphere, we wouldn’t visit again or recommend it to others.
The M — Google review
Off season so it wasn't crowded at all. Stingray experience and pemguin parade were probably the best but there are more. This is a small aquarium but worth the bang for your buck. Staff was really friendly too!
Michelle — Google review
We had an absolute blast here. The moving track through the tunnel was amazing. It is the perfect pace to enjoy it and all it has to offer. So many fish, sharks, and saw fish in the tank. The penguin area was really neat. There was on penguin that was hanging by the photo bubble for pics. There was also a very curious one swimming up to people viewing the area and would hang with them for a few before swimming into the next person. We enjoyed it. The jelly fish touch tank was nice. However, they should have a hand cleaning station for after all their touch and feeding interactions. So, everything you touch after that is contaminated with a fish smell from those who do not go find a bathroom to wash their hands. The goldfish realm was neat too, but their tanks had basically nothing in them and that isn't much of a habitat for them. I'm sure it is easier to clean an empty tank, but this is now their whole life. Feeding the rays was a huge highlight for our family. We got 5 cups and had a blast feeding them. Something special about being able to touch and feed these stunning creatures. I recommend this attraction for any family that wants to have a good time at an aquarium.
K K — Google review
Great attraction. We enjoyed it. Spent 3 hours here. Bought tickets online and walked right in. No wait. We went on a Sunday. We did the glass bottom boat. It was nice, although I thought is was out from the pictures, but I guides were great. I loved the hands on parts who, being able to touch stingrays, jellyfish and starfish. Great place to visit while in MB
Iris D — Google review
The Ripley's aquarium in Myrtle Beach is a really great experience for young and old alike. While it is geared around small children, there are lots of great exhibits, including an area where you can touch a jellyfish and pet or feed a manta ray. There is a 360 shark tank you can walk through and lots of fun activities for kids if the aquarium life does not hold their attention but I can't imagine that it wasn't because the way they have everything displayed is incredibly fascinating. Definitely a must during your visit to Myrtle Beach. We went for the multi pass for Ripley's attractions for just a few bucks more than the aquarium pass and it was pretty well worth it, though the aquarium is definitely the highlight.

Alligator Adventure, located at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is a renowned animal park that offers an up-close experience with a variety of species. The facility boasts an impressive collection of reptiles, including American and Albino alligators, wild frogs, Cassowary, BOB, Crocs, Eagle Owls, and Ring Tailed Lemurs. Visitors can witness thrilling live shows featuring 15-foot alligators leaping out of the water during feedings.
Our Alligator Adventure with Cape Fear Adventure Company was a great experience from start to finish! We spotted multiple alligators and turtles, and had a blast navigating through marsh areas with tall grass that made the paddle feel like a true adventure. We were paired with another group, but they were friendly and the outing felt relaxed and enjoyable. Captain Michael was knowledgeable, helpful, and kept a perfect pace that made it easy for everyone to keep up, no matter their skill level. This trip was fun, safe, and perfect for anyone looking to explore the wild side of the area without feeling overwhelmed. Highly recommend!

Wow! Great place to see the gators and others up close. Great presentations and feeding. Place is clean and well maintained. Although some of the wood walkways and fencing is looking weathered. I guess it adds to the ambiance! Park personnel are kind and patient. Gift store is stocked with cool stuff. By the by gators are everywhere in case you were wondering. Additionally there is a nature walk above the swamps and water. Additional buildings w/ lizards, frogs and of course snakes. Other animals and birds as well. Go, enjoy, and have fun.

Coming to this place was a highlight of my trip to Myrtle Beach! This is a great family friendly place to visit for all animal lovers. They house all sorts of animals and provide great resources for learning about them. There are live shows that make the experience all the more immersive. I have never gotten to see an alligator up close or even in person so coming to Alligator Adventure makes for a unique encounter for those visiting from northern regions like me or really anyone who loves and support animal conservation.

I have been by this place probably a thousand times in my life. We decided to head down from NC to check it out. Wow! This adventure was fantastic, from the native animals to exotic birds, this place has its act together. We were impressed with how the area looked and maintained. All the reptiles and animals looked well cared for and safe. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. They have animals/reptiles from all over the world...and if you want to see gators and crocs up close??? This is your kind of place.
Patrick S — Google review
They must have literally thousands of alligators here separated to some degree by age groups. Nice, clean, fully accessible facility just north of Barefoot Landing. Very nice gift shop. Food choices at snack bar very limited. You gotta go here at least once.

I went with my kids. My kids absolutely loved this place. We went to 3 shows while we were there. We just loved walking around looking at all of the animals! I noticed all the animal enclosures were clean. They had fresh water, clean enclosures, and most had some type of food/snack available. Our highlight would have been Utan the 20ft or 21ft crocodile. The kids just could not get over how big his head is and how round he was as well. An educational experience we all enjoyed!

Alligator Adventure was such a fun and educational experience! There’s so much more than just alligators—we saw snakes, turtles, exotic birds, lamas, hyenas, and even a rare albino alligator. The live shows were a highlight; the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. The park is clean, well laid out, and easy to navigate. There are plenty of shady spots, which is great on a hot day. We especially loved seeing the giant alligators and crocodiles up close—some of them are absolutely massive!

This was a very interesting place to visit. They had lizards alligators snakes birds turtles laughing hyena line and much more, frogs. It was a very friendly place and we enjoyed every minute of it. If you are ever in this area I highly recommend that you go to this place it's a must, and your kids will love it as well.

Diamondback Golf Club

Golf course
Outdoor Activities
Played from the Diamondback tees, over 6600 yards. The course was wet, so it played alot longer. No OB on the front side, crazy tight OB on both sides of nearly every hole on the back nine. Besides it being "Cart Path Only" and hitting to the opposite side on every hole, it was a fun course. Don't skip this one while you're in Myrtle Beach!

Ok ok finally a review for my favorite course in the MB area. This course has so much incredible features to offer. Challengability is top notice with many changes in elevation, hard dog legs, a good amount of water and mash features, wildlife and beautiful surroundings. Negative things gnats, very tight fairways and lack of restrooms out on the course. The club house staff are great super friendly and helpful and the woman who I normally see at the bar is a fantastic employee and a joy to chat with on the turn. Great deals on the food with their special. Hotdog special give you a hotdog a bag of chips and a soda or a draft beer for $7.50. Make this a must play when you are in the area!

For starters it’s $38 local rate for 18 during the week. Not sure of weekend rates. Next the layout is pretty dang good. And the greens tho they were a bit on the slower side, they are in 9.5 of 10 shape! One green had a blemish on the back side. The staff and the starter was super friendly. Any downside would be the gnats. They about drove me completely crazy but only on the back side. I definitely will be playing it again but with bug spray along with my sunscreen. I been playing MB courses got the last 10 years and this is top 3. For overall probably #1 course in the area. Proves you can enjoy a great round for under 80-100 bucks. And kids play great under 18 I think it is. I 30 minute drive from North Myrtle but worth it!

The golf course was in excellent conditions. The greens were fast and slick, but did put true. Would highly recommend playing, if you haven’t played it before it is definitely challenging for all levels of golfers.
Daniel F — Google review
The course s absolute beautiful condition. Course management is key. Cudos to the ground staff. There wasn't any green rot anywhere.
Ralph P — Google review
Love to play this course. All the trees and different holes sand and “stuff” to hit over well positioned to make the course fun to play. Club house team very friendly.
Dave L — Google review
Tight course among lovely pinelands with towering trees. Narrow fairways so better hit 'em straight. Greens run true. Picturesque wetlands and creeks run throughout course. Some very challenging holes with wide hazards and some straight away holes. Attendants super friendly as is snack bar and pro shop. Course in good shape with lush fairways. Worth taking a side trip to play this course as different than many of other nearby courses.
Rebecca B — Google review
The last time I played here they just airreated the greens. Hope I spelled that correctly. But the greens putted badly with the hopes and all the sand. They still charged the regular price witch was terrible and everyone of us thought the same. Bull....

The vineyard hosts year-round music festivals and offers cellar tours and tastings of their homemade private label wines. Visitors can also indulge in hand-crafted goods and specialty sauces at the gift shop.
This place is a lot of fun! Good food available, great selection of dry, med sweet, sweet, and super sweet wines, live music, and plenty of covered seating. Very enjoyable! Did a great one tasting and had a great time with that as well! The have other drinks if you come with someone who isn’t a wine drinker as well. I recommend giving this place a try and while it is a 2.5 hour drive for us-I look forward to the treat again another day time!

An absolutely wonderful experience! Out of the 60+ wineries I've visited, this is easily my second favorite. The atmosphere is so chill and inviting and the hosts are beyond amazing. The wine is excellent quality. I would totally recommend booking and buying your tickets in advance, you save some money and lots of time so you can visit worry free.

A hidden gem that we have missed out on til now. A must do if you are in the Myrtle Beach area. Live music, food trucks, shaded venue to enjoy outdoor music. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Loved listening to Chocolate Chip & Co and the South Side Saints playing 80s music and for only $10 admission. For $8 more, you can do the wine tasting at their Twisted Sister winery, which I highly recommend. What an awesome Saturday!

Spent the afternoon here. The wine, music, and tacos were great! They had a live band, several food trucks, and the turn out was amazing! Lots of people. We did our wine tasting and ended up finding a wine we really enjoyed, so purchased a bottle. Highly recommend if you're in the area or are considering visiting.

Sights & Landmarks
Cherry Grove Fishing Pier, a reconstructed 1950s landmark in North Myrtle Beach, offers a variety of activities for visitors. Whether you're an avid angler or just looking to enjoy the scenic views, this pier has something for everyone. The tackle shop provides equipment rental and friendly advice on bait selection. Additionally, the pier features a restaurant/bar and a 2-story observation deck for stunning panoramic views of the coastline.
The Cherry Grove Pier gives you a chance to watch fisherman haul in their catch, see turtles and jellyfish in the ocean and just enjoy a view of the beach you can't get while standing on the beach. It's $3 per person to go out on the pier. You're given a wristband, and it's good for the entire day, up until 11 p.m. We loved walking out on the pier and sitting at the end, up top and looking out over the ocean. We saw a turtle and several jellyfish. It's windy and warm, and relaxing. As you come off the pier, the building next to the store where you purchase your wristband is the Driftwood Cafe. If you're hungry or thirsty, stop in there for a bite! Delicious food and excellent service. Seating inside and outside.

This is our go to place! We stay in Prince Resort, eat quite a few meals at the Boardwalk Cafe, get ice cream nightly, walk the pier, & enjoy the entertainment put on by the resort. Sea shelling around the pier is hit or miss, but the tide pools are such fun for the little kids to look for hermit crabs & small shells. We love coming here!

Anytime I go to the area I stop here. We like to walk the pier, and fish here as well. They charge a fee to walk the pier which is lame. We walked in and went to walk the pier and the staff gave us a b8g attitude because we didn't pay 1st. We'll We didnt know we had to pay, there was no sign, and who would've thought it cost money to walk? Oh well, I won't go on the pier again unless im going to fish. Rude staff members make me not even want to visit. Everything is all about money anymore, we'll done cherry grove fishing pier, suck the fun right out of family vacation for a few bucks. But 200 people a day at 3$ a walk, = $600 a day.
Axel W — Google review
First you pay $3 just to walk out onto the pier. There is covered sitting at the end and stairs leading up to a second viewing area. Pier was full of people fishing and no loud commotion. There is very limited free parking across the street. The parking lot next to pier is privately own and you pay to park there. Great views up and down the beach.

Nice, Clean Pier. Staff is friendly. The only downside is that they aren't open 24 hours. The fishing was great and the pier was well lit at night. Highly recommend a visit if you want to catch fish while staying at NMB.

What an awesome place to walk sunrise, daily or sunset. Last Sunday was Resurrection Easter Sunday service, and many attended. It was amazing and spiritual and heart lifting.

I’ve been fishing this pier since I was in my 20s. Everything about it is wonderful with the exception that now they close at 11 PM. ☹️Which is the case of all of the Myrtle Beach piers with the exception of one staying open 24 hours. It has cleaning stations as well as a upper observation tower at the end of the pier. The store is well stocked with snacks, beverages, and fishing supplies as well as as bait options. There’s also a restaurant/grill as well. The staff are very friendly! Lots of records have been set from this pier! Check them out!

Charming local winery. We tried a red and a white flight. Enjoyed trying new wines and although I usually prefer Cabernets I enjoyed the Bella Rosa Dry Rose & Seyval Blanc and purchased a bottle of each. I was hoping that there would be a nicer selection of cheese/charcuterie but the selection was all grab and go processed meats & cheeses (ala Hilshire Farms style) rather than freshly cut finer cheeses & meats. The decor was interesting with multiple rooms to sit and browse art and local artist wares.

I had a lovely trip to this winery today. I have visited multiple wineries in Napa , VA, and PA. Admittedly, I know grapes don’t grow well in this area: so, I was very skeptical. I can say the wine was much better than expected. I really liked the Merlot and Cabernet. They bring grapes from outside the state and know how to make wine! The staff was friendly and environment was pleasant. Would recommend a visit!

Made an unplanned stop here on our way home from Myrtle Beach. This is a very nice winery with plenty of room to stretch out and relax. We sat outside and enjoyed a glass of wine and some cheese and crackers to break up our trip. We met some nice folks who frequent this winery and they have us a lot of information about it and the area. We really enjoyed our visit and hope to go back soon.

On 10/12/25, my husband and I got married at Silver Coast. Maryann and her team of extremely kind, professional, and fun bartenders made the day of our event a breeze and as stress free as possible. Despite the rain we experienced, the inside of the former barrel room ended up being a perfect spot for ceremony and reception. The upstairs space for the bridal suite was just enough room for the bridal party to get ready comfortably. We were able to party, spend time with our closest friends and family, and celebrate us all while drinking great wine! I will always recommend Silver Coast Winery more to anyone traveling to OIB.

This winery was nothing short of amazing! I found them through Harvest Hosts and am so glad I did. Great selection of European-style wines. A warm welcome and very helpful with selecting a bottle. A food truck with shrimp tacos to die for. A peaceful night's sleep in my campervan. And DOG FRIENDLY to boot! What more could you ask for?

Y'all...if you haven't played this course, it should be on the top of your lists to play. Ten stars for everything from course conditions, pace of play, price, HOSPITALITY, and it's a tough track. In season or out of season you know what you are going to get with this place. The staff are amazing (Kelly at the bar is top notch!) and if you birdie the signature hole (no.9) you get a cool little memorabilia and free drink at the bar! Hand down top notch. I hope the manager sees this because you have incredible staff! They should all get a raise IMO 😇 Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

An awesome experience with a really creative course. Definitely difficult but very fun. Clubhouse has a great setup & staff. Carts are super comfortable.
Brett J — Google review
Played here several times. Tough Arnold Palmer designed course. Excellent condition. Pictures are of number 9. It is an absolute beast, especially with the strong wind in your face. Pace of play expectations are a little unrealistic for large groups of average golfers who occasionally break 100. But in all fairness, this is a really nice course that dedicated golfers will truly appreciate and enjoy. Nicest, most comfortable golf carts I've ever been in, with GPS screen built in. Golf cart will shut down if you veer off too far from cart path. Excellent food and customer service. Golf at it's finest!

Without a doubt My favorite course I've played in the Myrtle Beach area! I have now been on three trips, played about 15 courses in area and I have to say this was my favorite! What an absolute gem from Arnold Palmer! The view from the clubhouse is literally unparalleled of the shallotte River. The clubhouse itself was really nice as was the pro shop great merchandise selections, courteous staff, and very good food! The course was very challenging. however, I had my best round of 77 this past trip. the conditions were excellent , the views were mind-boggling and the the course layout and design was perfect! My only issue is I don't live closer or else I could see myself joining! can't wait to get back to this place!

I would give them more stars if the site allowed. Our group came from Michigan to play this course and discovered a booking issue when checking in. The staff were very understanding and helpful. They got out and even accepted the golf trails discount. The course layout is very challenging and one of the best in the Myrtle Beach area. Had a bit of trouble adjusting to the slower greens but still enjoyed the round. We will definitely be back the next time we’re in the area.

Awesome golf experience all around. The course has a great layout with lots of challenging shots and beautiful scenery. All of the staff were friendly, professional, and welcoming (which is a rarity at most Myrtle Beach area golf courses these days). The marshals kept the pace of play moving along nicely. This course is fun to play and a great value for the price!
Bryan S — Google review
A beautiful and challenging layout with friendly staff! State of the art carts with GPS and Bluetooth speakers on board for your choice of music. Couldn't be more pleased, and as listed in the name, several beautiful holes along the river and marsh are the crown jewel of this challenging and scenic layout.

I’ve been wanting to play this course again for years. Played it 22 years ago and it is as good as I remember. This is a fabulous course with a great staff that was so polite and helpful. Some of the most beautiful holes set in such a perfect environment that is captivating. I can’t describe how nice it is. The marsh really comes into play on several holes, and the last 3 holes are just great finishing holes. Put this on your list of must play tracks! I will be back soon. 5 stars

It was once home to the second-brightest light in the world and is now equipped with an LED rotating fixture, a first in the U.S.
If you’re in Oak Island, North Carolina, you have to check out the Oak Island Lighthouse! We visited today and had an absolutely wonderful tour. Jeff and Gary, our guides, were amazing—friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about this piece of history. This is not your typical lighthouse. One of the most fascinating features is the staircase—it’s not a traditional spiral, but steps modeled after those on a ship. Be prepared for a very vertical climb! The view at the top is well worth it. Here’s another cool fact: this lighthouse has never been painted! The engineer who designed it dyed the cement in slightly different shades during construction, so there’s no need for repainting—one of the reasons the tours are free. (Hint: they do appreciate donations, so don’t be shy about contributing!) It’s such a unique, hands-on way to experience history, and it’s run by wonderful people who clearly care about preserving it. What a fun and amazing place—definitely worth a stop when you’re in Oak Island! Only draw back .. Book your tickets the season before. It is free and you have to give them several months to get on the list for your specific week of vacation.

We booked our time slot ahead of time, which I’d definitely recommend since it made things super easy when we got there. The staff and volunteers were all so kind and welcoming, and you can tell they really love sharing the lighthouse and its history. The climb up wasn’t bad at all as long as you take it slow, and the view from the top was just amazing—you can see the ocean, the marshes, and the island stretched out all around you. It honestly felt like such a special experience, and the fact that the tour is free makes it even better. The whole thing felt really well run and personal, not just like a typical tourist stop. If you’re in Oak Island, I’d highly recommend checking it out. It’s fun, it’s unique, and it’s something our whole family will remember from this trip.

Got to climb to the top of Oak Island Lighthouse! This Lighthouse was the last built in N.C. and so it was built as an automated light. There are no keepers quarters but there is an amazing educational boardwalk across the street from the Lighthouse that gives amazing views of the light and of the Cape Fear estuary. The view from atop the Lighthouse was phenomenal and you can see Old Baldy Lighthouse as well. The climb is not your traditional spiral staircase. There is a series of 7 ladderstairs and platforms. Not recommended to those not able to climb a ladder. To climb to the top you need to email the Friends of Oak Island Lighthouse. This is a local volunteer group that coordinates tours. You can not climb without a reservation through this organization. Email early to be sure to grab a spot for the climb. The reservation is free but donations are highly suggested for the upkeep of the lighthouse!

While it dosnt look like a traditional coastal lighthouse it still was a nice stop to see unfortunately we weren't able to partake in the climbing didn't realize you had to book online so if you want to climb make sure to go to there website
Lewis K — Google review
It won't take 5 minutes to view if you don't have a trip to the top. No trails to walk or things to see other than the lighthouse from the bottom itself. Be sure to check out the boardwalk across the street.

Old Baldy Lighthouse and Smith Island Museum

Museum
History museum
Reachable by ferry, this long-standing lighthouse offers tours, plus museum with maritime exhibits.
Old Baldy (the oldest lighthouse on the North Carolina coast) is located on Bald Head Island - a 20-minute ferry ride from the mainland. The island was tranquil and not very crowded at all, and there are bathrooms readily available on either side of the ferry terminals and behind the lighthouse shop/museum. There are 108 steps to the top, including a traditional ladder as the last hurdle before being in the top with the light. With the window open at the top, we had a nice cool breeze on an 80-degree day. On each level, there's information about the lighthouse history and other light stations in the area. Before leaving, make sure to check out the shop and the museum if you didn't before going up the lighthouse.

The kids and I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the island, seeing the lighthouse, and riding around exploring! We had an amazing lunch, and the ferry ride was extremely enjoyable!

Old Baldy Lighthouse is absolutely beautiful and full of charm. Even though we didn’t climb to the top, just seeing it up close was special. It’s the oldest lighthouse in North Carolina and a must-visit for anyone coming to Bald Head Island. The grounds are peaceful and well-kept—perfect for soaking in a bit of history and coastal beauty.
Amber M — Google review
If you want a good view of the island it is worth the admission. However to get to the top, there are over 110 stairs. And to get into the top, it can be a tight squeeze. Watch your head.
Tony M — Google review
Fun light house, lots of stairs to walk but gorgeous view in the top. It becomes a ladder on the top to get to the light house top viewing area. Skinny people only... it was hard to fit up tue ladder and was very tight for a medium size person.
Wesley S — Google review
Great short stop! The view from the top is worth the effort. Claustrophobia could kick in, but we all had a blast!
Natasha M — Google review
The lighthouse was awesome. Very neat. I was not able to go to the top cause the ladder but very neat and historical.
Beth S — Google review
Slowly making our way to all the NC lighthouses. This was a favorite! Wooden style spiral stairs all the way to the top. Gotta buy tickets in person. No wait. Keep in mind you will need to ride the ferry over to bald head island and you can’t bring your car so either you’re walking which I don’t recommend so to save yourself the trouble buy the ferry tickets first! then rent the golf cart to get around the island.

We had an amazing time! The challenge was outstanding and the professionalism was on point. I highly recommend this for family team building and skill development. We had so much fun! Worth every penny.

Me & 3 friends went to Cape Fearless Extreme on a bachelorette trip weekend and had SO much fun! We were challenged physically while also laughing uncontrollably. We can't say enough good things about our guide Josh- he was so kind, patient, & explained things thoroughly so we felt comfortable and safe. We are already planning a trip to go back to tackle the Red & Black courses!
Peyton J — Google review
Very impressed with this place! Have done tons of ziplining and high ropes courses but NONE compare to here. Rachel was our guide and she was super sweet and helpful! The black course TRULY is not easy. My husband and I are both athletic. My husband is prior service military and he even found it challenging. If you are looking for a workout with great views and a REAL challenge, this is the place you need to be! Harness & security systems (pullies, clips etc) were awesome and in great shape, our safety was the least of my concern because everything was so well maintained and efficient. Highly recommend this place, we will definitely be back!! From our experience: I would recommend bringing some kind of Camelback to store water while you're taking breaks, especially for red and black courses. They do offer water breaks between the other courses but not between the red and black. Wear long shorts or pants so the harness doesn't rub against or pinch your skin.
Alexis G — Google review
Awesome place! 4 different difficulty levels. Lots of ziplines including a massive one at the end. Good physical workout surrounded by nature. They provide a guide to teach you the ropes. We had Dora and she was awesome! They also have free bottled water on the course. Extremely friendly and totally safe! Definitely will be coming back!!

My daughter who just turned 12 and I went this past weekend and had a blast. We came a bit early for the 9am start and the staff was already there and got us all set and ready to go! Tyler was our guide and besides his fun and helpful personality he was very encouraging the entire time! My kid loved it so much she is asking her school class come back later this fall and I would easily recommend this to anyone with teens or adults! Very challenging and a good workout! Be prepared to spend 3-4 hours there but sooo very worth it!

I took my son and a friend as first timers to the kids course and they were able to level up once they mastered the kids course. I have neuropathy so I brought a chair and trekking poles to navigate the uneven ground through out the course, but halfway through started seeing stars and the staff (who had been assisting me with my chair) went and got the Gator to escort me through the rest of the course so I could watch them finish, which I really appreciated. My son and friend had a fantastic time- the instructor was firm but patient and good humored; the boys were challenged and had a great time. We will definitely be back.

Really enjoyed our time here! Our guide Nora was amazing!! She was very encouraging when the nerves started to get to us and gave me some helpful tips.. The group we went with was very friendly and cheery and made the experience all around wonderful. We will totally be back again!

Visited on18 June 2023, what a great experience for my 11 and 13 year old grandkids. What a surprise when I found out I was allowed to walk the course while watching them complete the obstacles. My congratulations to the guide, Walker. He was very knowledgeable, professional and had a great personality. He made grandkids feel comfortable and not scared. I ask grandkids if they wanted to come here again or go to the other zip line course that is within 50 mile. Hands down they said cape fearless. Thanks again

North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher

Nature & Parks
The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher is a teaching facility that offers interactive exhibits and live programs showcasing the region's aquatic life. It's conveniently located near the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area, making it a great stop for nature enthusiasts and beachgoers. Visitors can expect new exhibits, including beloved otters, and enjoy a hassle-free experience with advance ticket purchases. The gift shop offers reasonably priced souvenirs, and Shark Bites snack bar provides a good selection of food.
We took our family here for Father’s Day! You do need to purchase a pass ahead of time for entrance, but this was well worth it for us! Loved the small intimate areas for learning! My favorite area was the ray tank. My daughter loved the otters and the alligators when you first come through the aquarium! My husband appreciated all there was to offer here. Even has a nice outdoor play area and a concessions stand to eat! I chose to bring my own snacks, but the food smelled so good! Restrooms are accessible by stairs and elevator, for those that need that information. Very wheelchair friendly, even the outdoors exhibits. The gift shop was CRAZY COOL. We grabbed a magnet for the fridge. A must-stop place even if you’re going to the beach. We loved this place very much, even took home a mermaid 🧜🏼‍♀️

We had a fantastic day at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher with my two-year-old son! He was absolutely mesmerized by the fish and had a blast at the touch tanks, getting up close with sharks and all sorts of marine life. The variety of fish and sea creatures was impressive. My personal highlight was watching the playful otters! The play area for kids was a great addition, and the food was good too. One suggestion for improvement would be to keep the washrooms a bit cleaner. Overall, it's a great spot for families – we'd definitely recommend it!

Great place to visit with kids if you're in Carolina Beach or Kure Beach. A bit of a drive if you're in Wilmington or Wrightsville Beach. Family of four will run $60 w/o discounts. Good for 1-3 hrs of entertainment, depending on the programs and how fast you walk through the exhibit. We visited in October on a weekday. Concessions were closed so I'd recommend eating before if you're going mid week -- there's nowhere to eat that's convenient. Otter exhibit was also closed. You'll get some of that when you're not coming in the summer. Our kids liked the playground and the large fish tanks. My 4 yo wanted to move quickly, so me mindful of your littles.

Purchased a ticket ahead of time as instructed. Was set to arrive between times that were available. Thinking they would be reasonable as the one up in Pine Knolls is. However was instructed to wait 15 minutes after a 2 hour car ride. Annoyingly would not let you in except at your appointed time. They were “Gracious”enough to let us in 15 minutes early as they did everyone else with the same entry time. I would have booked a different time had I know they would let us in if we had an hour earlier or even half hour earlier ticket. They were letting people in late some had hour earlier tickets and others were still within their time. Would go to Pine knolls instead, they are more reasonable, or just book for the time before you arrive and come in “late”. (this was on a week day) They have otters and other interesting fish and animals. Having Otters saved them from a completely terrible review, as I had read that some of the otter had been transported to another facility. There was a small play area near some food vendor at the end of the inside part of the aquarium. Again Pine knolls aquarium is better, larger playground, and longer outdoor trails. The food vendor is a fairly quick with a bit of a selection and food is not too pricey.

We enjoyed our visit to the Ft. Fisher Aquarium. It is much smaller than we anticipated, and even with a three year old who wanted to double back to see things a second or third time, it only took us about 45 minutes. Only because of its small size, it is hard to navigate with a stroller (especially the larger ones that hold infant seats), but the layout is still really nice. The staff is friendly. The animals appear to be well cared for. There are some really beautiful creatures to be seen. Admission is inexpensive. Overall, it’s a worthwhile experience, just don’t anticipate it will take up your whole day!
Whitney W — Google review
It was a fun experience with my child! It didn't exactly have all the bells and whistles but it did have giant tanks with sharks, seahorses, otters, and so many cool animals! The staff and volunteers were extremely friendly and helpful in providing information. You should check this out at least once! Also would be an excellent date spot because you can walk the nature path after or sit at picnic table outside and talk about your experience.
Kitty S — Google review
Unfortunately, I've been to some really good aquariums in my life (ie Baltimore, Atlanta, etc) and that isn't really fair to aquariums like this one.... who just don't measure up. They honestly only have two exhibits of any real excitement, the otters which you see right when you walk into the Aquarium and the main tank of sharks, turtle, eel, grouper and other fish. Oh, and one more tank with the jellyfish. And the exhibit with the alligator is cool. Fine, fine, four exhibits are worth the walk. Can four exhibits make it worth the cost of a ticket? Just barely.
Jenny R — Google review
It is a lovely establishment with many different area's of interest. The staff were super nice and took the time to inform us of the certain exhibits. It would be great for families or even for a date.

The Kure Beach Pier, established in 1923, is a historic landmark on the Atlanta Coast and the first fishing pier in the area. Despite being demolished five times, including by Hurricane Hazel in 1954, it has been rebuilt and stands as a popular attraction. Unlike other piers in the Outer Banks, there is no fee to access this one.
Love everything about the pier. Who doesn't come out to walk the pier and not have a great time. Everything you need inside at the pier from ice cream, bait, drinks, ice, clothing, game room if you need a break. Super nice people inside to help you. Hats off to them!
Michael F — Google review
Kure Pier is absolutely beautiful. The water has this stunning blue color that almost reminds me of Maine. It's clear they're actively working to improve the beach area, which is great to see. The main thing to be aware of is that the beach here is quite steep and the currents can be very strong, so be cautious in the water. It looks like they're working on remediation efforts to address this. Overall, it's a gorgeous place to visit and enjoy the scenery. Just respect the ocean conditions.
Roy C — Google review
We really enjoyed our visit to Carolina and Kure beaches. The pier was nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We visited twice, the first day was cool but gorgeous out with big waves due to the approaching storm. We visited the next day during the storm and went to the end of the pier to feel it away and the 35 to 40 mph winds. It was fun and we made the best of the weather.

I am a resident here. After all of the tourists go away , or even when they are here, the pier is great for kids as well as families and strollers , and it's beautiful and you get to see the sting rays and sharks and fish that the guys are reeling in. I think you can rent the pole for a day for like $10. There's all kinds of bait in anything you may need to throw a/your pole in the water! There's even a place to cut up your catches and fillet them!
LIall50NC — Google review
Very nice pier! Also has seating, an area to clean/wash fish, a small covered sitting area, and a store that sells everything you need attached. Steps away are restaurants. So buy a whole or half day pass you will have a good time.

Carolina Beach State Park is a coastal haven offering a fishing marina, secluded campgrounds, and hiking trails. It's also home to the rare Venus flytrap, found in its native environment here. The park provides an opportunity to see this unique carnivorous plant for free and learn about it at the visitors' learning center.
Carolina Beach State Park is a gem. It’s got a little bit of everything — hiking trails that are easy enough for a casual walk but still give you that feeling of being out in nature, peaceful views along the Cape Fear River, and some really cool plant life (the Venus flytraps are worth checking out). The park feels well taken care of, with clean trails and clear signage. It’s also not overly crowded, which makes it perfect for a quiet morning hike or just clearing your head after a busy week. Parking is convenient, and the marina area gives it a nice “by the water” vibe without the chaos of the main beach. If you’re looking for a spot that’s relaxing but still has plenty to explore, this park is perfect. It’s the kind of place you end up returning to again and again.

One of our favorite parks. We’ve stayed here a lot and always have a good time. Campsite’s are large and most have privacy from trees and vegetation from site to site. Most are shaded as well. Picnic tables, fire rings and lantern pole at all sites. There are maybe 8 full hookup sites in the first loop on the right as you enter but in our 5 years coming here have not once seen ANY availability 🤨 There are 2 camping loops and both have a bath house in the middle with flush toilets and 4 showers. Usually pretty clean but in the summer it’s pretty humid in there taking a shower. There are walking trails to explore and this park is very close to restaurants and groceries and a brewery! In summer the bugs are usually pretty hungry so take bug spray. Also it seems to always be muggy in the campground. Never a breeze so take a fan if you can.
Rhonda A — Google review
it’s clear the ranger/anyone else in charge care very much about protecting the cleanliness and safety of the area. the bathrooms were well kept, there was 0 litter anywhere that I noticed, and they provide both a picnic table & fire pit at every site. we loved that there were hiking trails directly behind our lot leading to Snow’s Cut, because it was a quick way to catch the sunsets on the water. worth noting though, that you can hear nearby roads throughout the day/night (at least at #77 we could) - we didn’t mind it but some people may prefer complete silence. great experience overall!
Nicole O — Google review
Very nice state park, free to use. Lots of hiking trails and areas to walk. Only recommendation is to definitely use insect repellent if you are walking the trails in the woods, because we were getting swarmed while walking.

We stayed in mid Oct and the weather was lovely. It was still warm with a breeze coming from the beach. At night, it did get colder but nothing like a sleeping bag can’t fix! The space we picked had plenty of space for all of our camp gear. Only complaint was the community restroom was a little bit of a walk from our site. Either way, would come back!!
Anh N — Google review
We’ve stayed here 3 times and absolutely love it! Nice campsites, walking trails, friendly staff, marina, beautiful views, clean, and haven’t had any issues at all with other campers! Great location to the beach, whether you’re walking, driving, or biking! Would highly recommend staying here! We look forward to each visit!
Brad L — Google review
The trails are beautiful, and you can reach the Cape Fear River. They have a nice marina with a great boat dock and kayak rentals. It's a wonderful place to hike and boat.
Mindi G — Google review
Excellent state park. Small enough to have younger children make the short trails. All less than 1mile long. The flytrap trail is a loop and has a small dead-end area that is on a wooden platform. That platform overlooks the flytraps and pitcher plants. Area is a short walk from the parking area. At the flytrap trail head, go to the left, follow the trail and eventually come to a T in the trail, turn right towards the wooden platform. There's where they are. You can continue to the right after towards the swamp trail past 2 camping areas, approximately 1 mile.

The Carolina Beach Boardwalk is a charming oceanfront promenade that offers classic seaside entertainment for the whole family. With its sandy beach, kid-friendly rides, snack bars, and lively atmosphere, it's no wonder it has been recognized as one of the top 10 boardwalks in the country.
Great place particularly in early June when it isn't busy. Weather can be hit or miss but it's very pleasant. Hook's hotdogs makes this place affordable for anyone really. Fireworks and live music on Thursday nights! Relatively new Farris wheel overlooking the boardwalk and beach, great ride (expensive at $10 a person per ride though).
Nathan V — Google review
This place is highly gate-kept meaning the people who go here do not tell everyone how awesome this place is. It’s basically a much smaller and much safer version of Myrtle Beach. It’s like going back in time… Nowhere near as large as Myrtle but certainly more family friendly. Clean. No one begging for money. No strong marijuana smell wafting throughout every street you go to. I did not see a lot of seafood restaurants…But plenty of local shops and restaurants and cafes. This boardwalk has a fair amount of carnival style rides and attractions for your family or for anyone for that matter. It’s vibrant but peaceful. There are huge swings along the boardwalk you can sit in and enjoy the ocean breeze. There is live music in the Spring and Summer which are an added bonus. You must try the donut shop Britts Donuts but beware they only take cash. I did not bring cash and there is an ATM nearby but I only had Apple Pay on me. The woman in front of me in line gave me enough cash to buy donuts for my family. The people here are so sweet.
Mary G — Google review
Not over-crowded, fun & clean. Take cash if you plan to the fair on the boardwalk. There is a $3 fee evety time you use your card at games or concessions. Parking fees are over at 8pm so no need to worry about adding $$ to a meter. The employees at the arcade were EXTREMELY kind, smiled and patient with people. I have to say, I'm EXTREMELY impressed.
RONDA R — Google review
We walked around 2 different nights. Fun little place to walk around with your family during the week. Friday night way to many people for me. Young teens running around bumping into everyone. If you wait until 8pm parking is FREE, during the summer. Any other time is $5 an hour minimum 2 hours.

It was a nice laid-back atmosphere. The rides were beginning to crank up. We found a nice barbecue restaurant that had some really good food. The mac and cheese was smoked, unbelievable. The brisket was chopped but very tasty. The ribs were actually pretty good too and very tender. It was pricey but there was too much food to eat so we both had to take some home.

Regarding this location, I am hesitant to disclose its details. It is, in my estimation, the most aesthetically pleasing destination I have encountered along the Eastern Seaboard. The town offers a tranquil and serene atmosphere, with welcoming locals and a variety of excellent dining establishments. Wilmington is conveniently accessible, approximately a thirty-minute drive, providing access to shopping, entertainment, and culinary options. Furthermore, Southport is easily reached via ferry, an excursion that is highly recommended. Having frequented Carolina Beach for several years, we have ceased considering destinations further north for our beach vacations. Please maintain discretion, as this information is intended for our exclusive knowledge.

Fantastic family fun! Bring plenty of money for rides and games, and paying cash will save you on the cost of ride wristbands. Also, they put on a fireworks show every Thursday night, 9 pm I think. The beach is just a short walk from the carnival, which goes all summer. 4 stars for expense only. Ride wristbands are $30 each, individual tickets are more.

Way more than we expected great nature trails very safe and soft to walk on. Great for birding / bird lovers. Lots of rich history about the Moore Creek battlefield and the Park Rangers and volunteers were very informative, extremely helpful and polite. And you can get your stamp outside of the visitor center if it’s closed

It's one of the less interesting national park locations but well-maintained and informative. There is a short walking trail to visit some of the monuments, a public restroom, picnic tables, and a visitors center. The visitors center is closed on Sundays and Mondays but they do leave the passport cancellation stamps on a box just outside the door.
Brad K — Google review
Moores Creek National Battlefield preserves the site of a Revolutionary War victory (1776) where Patriot forces defeated Loyalists. The park is fairly small in size, about 44–88 acres located in a rural / wooded area (pine woods, creek), but it is near to where we stayed at, so we decided to check it out. The visitor center was closed but we were able to take a walk and there are signs in a few area explaining the battle, its context, and significance. Overall it is a decent park to visit if you are in the area and interested in early American / Revolutionary War history.

Even though there were a ton of nasty mosquitoes when we were there, we really loved our visit! My son said this was his favorite place in our whole vacation road trip. We walked around in a self guided tour that was really informative. There was a female working who was just a joy to talk to, and we learned a lot about the history here. I also learned about the ecology which was a bonus! Great place for a picnic, and if you're going in summer, take bug spray.

Last night I attended the Candlelight tour at the battlefield. It was absolutely amazing. It is easy to see that the park service put in countless hours preparing a beautiful experience for park guests. The tour was a beautiful walk through the woods lit by a full moon. Along the path, illuminated with countless luminaries, reenactors told the story of the battle from both sides, Patriot and Loyalists. Afterwards, I went into the museum and watched the film about the battle. The end of the tour on this special evening ended with a hayride back to the car. All in all, it was a wonderful evening. I cannot wait to return in the daytime and visit the trails and grounds during the day.

Battleship North Carolina, located in Downtown Wilmington, NC, is a renowned museum and attraction that offers visitors a chance to explore the ship's history. Commissioned in 1941 and earning 15 battle stars during World War II, it now serves as a memorial with exhibits showcasing its wartime service. Visitors can tour the ship from top to bottom, discovering hidden engine rooms and galleys while learning about its unique history.
What a great experience being able to walk through this great piece of history. Bought tickets online to speed things up upon getting there. There are a lot of narrow/steep stairs, so be aware of that. Overall, it was an amazing experience seeing the inside of this battleship! I would highly recommend it if you're in the area to do this tour.

Visiting the Battleship North Carolina was such a memorable experience! It’s truly impressive to see this historic World War II warship up close, and it gives you a real sense of the scale and strength of naval history. Walking around the grounds is free, which makes it easy to admire the ship from the outside and snap some great photos. If you’d like to explore onboard, there is an admission fee—but from what I’ve heard, it’s absolutely worth it. Since we were short on time, we didn’t get to go inside, but even just seeing the exterior was fascinating. For those planning a full tour, I’d recommend setting aside at least two hours to really experience the ship, its exhibits, and the details of life at sea. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or just looking for a unique stop in Wilmington, this is definitely worth a visit! ⚓️

Spent about an hour here with my family of four. Make sure your kids use the restroom before going in: we had to cut our visit short because the toilets were down and we had to use the portapotties outside. I would recommend doing the lower decks first then the upper decks. Really cool living museum. Just wish we could have stayed longer. It's better suited to order kids, although our 4 yo did great.

What an incredible experience!! I highly recommend coming here! It was a cloudy overcast Tuesday and the ship didn’t have too many people touring. We chose to do the self paced tour on our own. There are plenty of signs to read about every part of the ship. Plan to spend at least 2-3 hours. There were fans blowing in areas inside the ship which made it nice when we started feeling hot.

You can feel chills of respect ,and you can feel the souls of these brave sailors who endure the battles !! Still embedded on the USS NC , highly recommend the experience , not suitable for small children thats for sure , the Confine spaces and the small access to the rooms might be tricky , I’ve work before on ships , a war ship ! My utmost respect for the people who Do or did . Definitely visit this part of the American History in the Flesh makes you appreciate the value of freedom , but don’t get comfy people you might get call soon to the battle of war ! You never know !! The gift shop was little bit pricey ! Adapting little bit high tech to the shop would be better , the only problem they only work on donations no government funding , like I always say local economies are the best ! And thanks to the tour guides that donate Their time during The Weeknd !!! Thanks. Guys what an honor !!

Such a stunning example of American military might from WWII!! It had been almost 30 years since my last visit and I thoroughly enjoyed spending several hours going all over the ship!! All the volunteers were so helpful in answering questions and they had a really nice gift shop too. Weather was quite nice so we walked the boardwalk around the ship too. Well worth going and seeing this Great battleship!

This is a great reminder of the boldness, courage, and sacrifice of our service members. This is a great tour of an amazing piece of our country's history. The cost is nominal and the access is pretty amazing. It certainly gives you a glimpse into life on a battleship. The only thing I wish the memorial could have was more videos or interactive experiences to help visualize aspects of the ship and life. Otherwise, it is worth the visit.

Sights & Landmarks
Little Drum Landing is a picturesque outdoor waterfront venue located in Historic Downtown Wilmington, offering stunning views of the Cape Fear River and the Wilmington Bridge. The spacious deck and outdoor tented pavilion provide an ideal setting for weddings, receptions, and special events. With in-house catering from Elijahs Restaurant or The Pilot House, couples can customize their menu to fit their preferences and budget.
We hosted a welcome party at this venue and it was really great. The food was exceptional, the service staff were extremely efficient and friendly, the view of the sunset over the river was incredible. It was so good the photos look like they were taken in-front of a green screen.

A great event space with an unbeatable view of the bridge and the river. We had an amazing party and enjoyed the sunlight. The food was also great!

Was recently a vendor for a wedding held at Little Drum and it was such a smooth and enjoyable experience. From coordinating with Jodi and Lindsey, to interacting with the staff, including Brittany and Justin, they were all so kind, professional, helpful and organized. Shout out to Kasey who helped me load all of my equipment in, even though he absolutely had no obligation to. I would highly recommend this venue based on the AMAZING food alone, but with it, you get a charming setting, picturesque views and a well seasoned crew with captains who know what they are doing. Would highly recommend and hope to have the opportunity to work with them again!

I cannot express enough gratitude to Little Drum Landing for saving my wedding. After planning for two years, I was devastated when our original venue in Asheville fell through due to Hurricane Helene. Little Drum Landing stepped in and made our special day even more magical than we could have imagined. Nestled in the heart of downtown Wilmington, this charming venue offered the perfect blend of rustic elegance and modern convenience. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our every need, ensuring that our day was flawless. The beautiful setting, combined with their exceptional service, made our wedding unforgettable. If you're looking for a venue that truly cares about making your big day perfect, look no further than Little Drum Landing.

Great wedding venue for a small wedding! We photographed Jay & Katrina's wedding here and it was awesome. You are right on the water in the heart of downtown Wilmington. The sunset is beautiful!

The Hampton Inn Wilmington Downtown offers informal rooms and suites, along with amenities such as an indoor pool, a gym, and complimentary breakfast. Its convenient location allows for easy access to attractions like Wrightsville Beach, known for its clear blue waters and environmental friendliness. The hotel is also close to the Wilmington Convention Center and Cape Fear Riverfront. Guest rooms are spacious and well-equipped with modern conveniences like free Wi-Fi, a microwave, and a mini-fridge.
Stayed here to see a concert in downtown. The staff here were very friendly and accommodating. I got a pizza for the room and they were happy to give me some plates for it, and for a second I thought I left something in the room when I left and they were kind enough to look for me. And being able to walk around everywhere from this location was a lot of fun! I picked it originally because it had the best price at the time and it was totally worth it.

Multiple poor experiences with no acknowledgment or resolution - when I first arrived, I was impressed with the kind gentleman at the front desk and the nice valet as well. I have two small children and had called a week ahead of time to ask if we could have top floor rooms, as close as possible to our friends also staying there. While we were both on the top floor (which I was told was moved around last minute) our rooms were on completely opposite sides of the hotel. Upon room entry, there was a mildew smell to the room and I discovered the carpet in the room was wet up to a foot out from the air conditioning unit. Our friend’s room carpet was soaked in the same area and they had requested another room but unfortunately nothing else was available. It remained damp our entire stay and I had to use towels from the pool under it. Secondly, there was only one bath towel in the bathroom, despite our booking for 3 guests. The bathroom wallpaper was completely bubbled up off of the top corner of the wall and there was also a slit through it as well. Finally, the surfaces (towel holders specifically) in the bathroom were NOT CLEAN and the bathroom was grimy and I could visibly wipe up dirt off of the floor. I brought my concerns to the front desk staff the next morning, I felt blown off and was just told I would have “points added on to my Hilton honors account to compensate” but nothing was addressed, nor were these “points” ever received. The breakfast was frequently empty, we had to wait 10 minutes for eggs and 20 minutes for sausage our second morning there and while the staff member was pleasant and apologized for the delays, it was also disappointing that the sanitation score for the kitchen was only a 90.5. I really had higher expectations for this stay and unfortunately I am very disappointed with this hotel. The few positives were the location in town was quiet but convenient, the valet was simple, the room decor was Wilmington themed and nice, and other than the small breakfast seating area, it did not feel crowded or chaotic. I hope we just had a bad single experience this weekend and that this isn’t a trend for this location.

We stayed at this hotel the day before Labor Day, arriving around 2:50 PM. The front desk told us that check-in was at 3:00 PM, so we ended up waiting there with nothing to do until check-in time. The next day, breakfast ended at 10:00 AM. When we arrived around 9:30 AM, there was almost no food left. According to my friends who came with me, even earlier in the morning the variety of food was very limited. The worst part came after checkout. Shortly after leaving, we realized we had forgotten our coats. (Since it was quite cold the previous evening, we and the children had all worn coats, which we had hung together in the closet.) About two hours later, when we returned to retrieve them, the front desk informed us that no items had been found. After our insistence, the staff went upstairs and came back with only one coat, telling us that this was all they found. Honestly, it would have been better if they had said they didn’t see any. In any case, our belongings were stolen, which left us with a very negative experience. Please exercise caution if you plan to stay at this hotel. To the hotel management: you should also inspect your staff, as this kind of situation is unlikely to be an isolated incident.

We’re Diamond Members with Hilton and come to ILM once a quarter or so just to get away, and this is our first visit to this property. The location is absolutely fabulous and the staff is very nice, but we’re currently in our third room in less than 24 hours due to a malfunctioning lock, no AC or ventilation, and plumbing issues. In fairness, the front desk and maintenance staffs are desperately trying to fix the issues sitewide, but this building is older and needs a COMPLETE Hilton overhaul and much better oversight. We were moved from 415 (malfunctioning lock) to 416 at check-in, when we dropped our bags and went to dinner and a nearby lounge with live music. When we came back around 10:30 PM, 416 had no AC or ventilation (see video) but the hotel was sold out with a collegiate beach volleyball tourney, so we stayed put. At 12:30AM, Lili was nice and gave us the fan they had behind the front desk. This morning, they moved us to 418 (with “several rooms closed due to maintenance issues,” per the front desk). Digital keys are not functional throughout the property right now, and the sign at check-in says “Hilton will be here next week to fix the problem.” There are multiple signs in any room of use and wear. The Market is very dark and there is a limited adult beverage selection (no wine, 1 beer and 1 seltzer… sad in a town with amazing craft breweries). In downtown, there are so many cultural attractions, fabulous shops and restaurants, and great specialty bars/lounges and live music, all within a walkable 3-block radius to the waterfront (try Floriana’s, The Basics, WTF, Blind Elephant speakeasy, the DoughHouse, Fat Tony’s, Copper Penny, and BlueBerry Grill), but we would not recommend this property. The fault here lies with the owner for not investing more in the actual upkeep, better operations, and better guest parking on weekends at this PRIME-location property.

Very disappointing! This hotel has changed over the years for the worse. No housekeeper for a 4 day stay and no towels at the front desk. Toilet needs replacing. Sink drains slowly. Shower had chipped paint and made a load noice. Beds ok. Pillows not so much. Parking deck that’s right across the street was closed so no choice but to pay the $30/day valet. The valet guys were great though (outside company) so they were worth it. Embarrassed that I have recommended this hotel several times. It was great in the past. There are too many other great hotels in this area to stay here and this is not what I expect from a Hilton hotel. To top it all off they charged me at check out but I prepaid so I had to ask for a refund. Not acceptable

Stayed here a couple weeks ago with my husband for a quick getaway trip. Really enjoyed everything from the staff in the room to the breakfast. It was a lovely day. Thank you. 😊

Very surprised (and not in a good way) by my experience at this location. I (and my colleagues) encountered problems from the beginning, starting with check in. The staff at the front desk was flippant, not particularly friendly and dismissive. In the end, despite all of us having a confirmation number only I was able to stay (I consider the others lucky). At checkout time two days later, the lady at the front desk said she could not check me out and hence could not give me a paper receipt, but would email it..... The only two rays of sunshine were the valets, who were always friendly, polite and clearly worked VERY hard (I never saw them stand still and were always running) and the breakfast ladies who greeted everyone with a polite smile and friendly "good morning". The breakfast area was well maintained and there was always one of them cleaning/wiping something down.

We stayed at this property to be in the heart of downtown, knowing that parking would be pricey, but.....their website advertises a parking garage across the street at half the price of valet. When we arrived we were notified that the street surrounding the garage was under construction, so their was no parking within a 5 block radius. Had we known this prior to arriving (not listed on their site), we honestly would have changed hotels as opposed to paying $30 per day. The valet website was glitchy and 7 out of 10 times did not work, so we always had to wait. Not a big deal, except that we were paying $30! The front desk and valet staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was fine, a bit dirty, but we really enjoyed the blackout shade, USB chargers on both sides of the bed, and having a fridge. Shower was just ok, and temperature and pressure varied throughout the day. The breakfast was not great, but included, so whatever. Housekeeping took all of our towels, even though they were hanging, and then only left us 2 new ones, which again, is a small gripe, but I like having 1 for my hair. Overall we would likely not stay at this location again.

Airlie Gardens, originally a private garden for the Pembroke Jones family in 1901, is now a 67-acre public attraction featuring formal and informal gardens. The site boasts over 100,000 azaleas, expansive grass lawns, and historic structures alongside modern sculptures. Visitors can explore the nearly 500-year-old Airlie Oak and enjoy picturesque views of the intracoastal waterway along Bradley Creek.
Such a wonderful place to explore and connect with nature. Plenty of shade and park benches to rest at along the way. For those who don’t like walking or need alternative transportation, private tours on golf carts are available if scheduled in advance. Beautifully scenery with a nice cozy gift shop to purchase souvenirs. Umbrellas and water are available for sale in the office.

Airlie Gardens was an incredible experience, and we highly recommend it! The butterfly exhibit was the highlight for us—it was really cool to be surrounded by so many beautiful butterflies. A couple of the people in our party were wearing blue shirts, which apparently attract them, so they kept landing on their backs and shoulders. The walking paths are well-maintained and allowed us to really enjoy all the gardens. We also found the turtles in the pond quite charming and friendly. It was a fantastic experience.

Beautiful gardens at a very reasonable price. Take your time and stroll around taking in the beautiful sights and sounds that this gardens has to offer. The live oaks are truly magnificent with the Spanish moss flowing from their branches. There are very colorful flower groupings that give inspiration for home gardeners. They have many benches to sit and reflect as well tiered step gazebo that leads right down to the water where multiple turtles come to great visitors. The day that we visited, we saw the most beautiful birds fly in near the tiered steps and land on a branch a little ways away. The best we could tell, they looked pink but we had no idea what they were or if our eyes were playing tricks on us in the bright lighting. I took multiple pictures on my cell phone from different angles and zoomed in several times not knowing if I was actually capturing anything. When we got home I was looking through the photos and discovered that they were in fact pink and was able to see their flat wide bill well enough to identify them as Roseate Spoonbill. I have never seen these birds before and was astonished that we had been lucky enough to witness 3 of these beautiful creatures swooping in and landing on a branch! Just beautiful. There are many things to see and discover at Airlie Gardens that it is worth spending several hours walking, picnicking, and discovering the natural beauty of this part of North Carolina, so don't miss it!

Airlie Gardens is hands down one of my favorite places in Wilmington. It’s perfect for a family day, a romantic picnic, a solo stroll, or even a photo shoot—there’s something magical about it in every season, but spring (March–April) is especially breathtaking when everything is in bloom. There are tucked-away spots for quiet moments, statues, stone pillars, water features, a butterfly house, local sculptures, and a cobblestone maze that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale. It’s even a popular wedding venue, and it’s easy to see why. We bought the season membership (about $75 for a family of five), which was well worth it compared to paying per visit. It’s also kid-friendly, has a cute gift shop, clean bathrooms, and plenty of parking. Whether you’re visiting, local, or looking for the perfect spot to propose—don’t skip this place. Airlie is rich with beauty, history, and memories just waiting to be made. ✅ Best in spring ✅ Romantic, kid-friendly, and peaceful ✅ Ideal for photos, picnics, and proposals 🎯 Tip: Grab the season pass if you plan to come more than once

Absolutely beautiful! Live oaks, winding paths along the water, turtles, butterfly house sculptures art work along the walk. They also have a free gulf cart shuttle that makes various stops around the gardens for those not physically able to walk the distances between the various gardens. I take my out of town guests and they love the experience.

We love Airlie Gardens! It’s beautiful, serene, and always well kept, with so much to see and explore. We often bring a blanket for picnics by the water — the kids love running around and discovering new spots. It’s also absolutely magical during Christmas time. We’ve had a membership for a while now and plan to keep it for years to come!

Such a peaceful, lovely place. They were setting up the Christmas lights as we were walking around. Looks like it’s going to be a great set up! The fall leaves were changing and everything had that crisp fall hue to it. Ugh, I love it here.

I'm amazed by the natural beauty of magnificent, Grand oaks trees, draped in Spanish moss, on the banks of creeks in the gardens. I was there to Officiate a wedding (and, what a perfect setting for a wedding ceremony!), and I cannot wait to come back and meander the many winding paths with my camera.
