Ohio Valley Mall

Shopping mall
Shopping
Expansive indoor retail complex offering shopping, a range of dining options & a movie theater.
Very few stores which makes it EASY to find a parking spot! But the stores they DO have are ones I can use. However they have a machine/kiosk that a robot makes you YOUR CHOICE of FRESHly made cotton candy! It's delicious.
Karyie B — Google review
I really like this mall. It has great store choices and it's always clean. I like that they're are usually a lot of people there, but not too many. My two favorite stores are Books-a-million and Ulta.
Rebecca P — Google review
A great variety of stores and options. Would love to see more small business be able to grown and thrive. They typically have some good events. Kids can play, ride the train, or even visit places like Tilt.
Elliott E — Google review
This is a terrific Mall. There's still many good stores inside. Bosco's, Marshalls, shoe Depot and many others. There's also a nice arcade inside. The food court has many different types of offerings. It's very large and very clean.
Bruce B — Google review
I love stores like Boscov, Gamestop, Bath and Body Works and the odd and ends shops. Great variety and Osaka is delicious. If I could improve this place it would be more snack places and less thrift stores.
Raizino — Google review
Businesses wouldn't come amd go if the mall fixed the depreciation issues that the public doent know about and charge a fair price for rent. Rent is way to high! That being said, it's a very nice safe mall!
Jason M — Google review
I went to Boscov's which was a really cool experience. I had never been there before and they have a lot of retail merchandise that just doesn't exist in a lot of places anymore. It reminded me of a Macy's or Sears or JCPenney's and the prices were very good too. Go check it out.
Mark M — Google review
Good stores are leaving. Rent is outrageous. Fabio moved to Wheeling so not much to go for except Marshall's

Guests appreciate the museum's historical significance, charming atmosphere, and engaging presentations.
Visited as a family (kids ages 2 and 5) and we had a wonderful time!!! This museum is so impressive and fun to walk through. Surgical/hospital car was so cool! We loved learning together and completing the scavenger hunt. Extremely family friendly- kept our kids engaged the entire visit.

Our carefully planned road trip came undone and we scrambled to find alternative stops to fill the day. Mary found a reference for a restored rail depot in Dennison, a short half-hour drive from Bolivar. We switched gears and headed south on US 77 to what turned out to be the best stop of the trip. The immaculately restored Dennison Rail Depot was a locomotive repair shop that became better known as a stop for troop trains carrying servicemen west during World War Two. The depot was restored to its configuration during the war with displays in the depot building and railcars. We were welcomed on entry and found that veterans are admitted free of charge in honor of the servicemen who passed thru Dennison on their way to the front. An average of 20 trains a day, each carrying 400-700 men, stopped in Dennison each and every day from 1942-1946. That is more than 10,000 men and women EVERY day. The local community quickly saw an opportunity to offer a helping hand and established a Serviceman’s Canteen offering a sandwich, fruit, and coffee to every hungry GI. I can’t image how the folks operating the canteen produced 10,000 sandwiches a day with the constraints of rationing, but they did. So welcome was the food and friendship offered, that the GI’s came to know Dennison as “Dreamsville.” Parking for the depot is on the street opposite the main entrance. A small café used to operate in the depot but has since closed. The staff offers a short orientation to a self-guided and self-paced tour that takes you through the depot and onto actual train cars. Several of the cars offer displays on the social impact of the war on the community. Other cars are restored to their troop train configuration. Of special note is a car configured as a mobile hospital with provision for a small medical staff to care for injured and wounded troops. The train portion is a bit long to walk but can accept walkers and wheelchairs. There is even a restroom available on that part of the tour. This is a superb museum staffed by friendly and welcoming staff. I can only imagine the memories that rose up in veterans who last visited Dennison on their way to war. To help young children enjoy the visit, there is a large N-Gauge model train display and other fun educational activities. Yes, there is a gift shop with a wide variety of mementos, shirts, and toys. I wish I could give the Depot more than 5 stars.

I've been going RR museums my whole life. This is a special place. Not like Henry Ford but this small town has done a heck of a job. A lot of smaller items I've never seen before. Only 2 locomotives but the museum is full. Took us about 1.5 - 2 hours to go through.
Jim B — Google review
What a great place to learn about the history of the area!! I wasn’t familiar with “railroad canteens” but this museum had great artifacts, memorabilia and explanations of the WW2 era. And a chance to stand next to the massive stream engines of that time. I only wished more of the articles had labels as to what they were.
Joe D — Google review
This is truly an amazing treasure, marking the incredible patriotism of thousands of locals supporting the troops during WW2. If you are within 100 miles of Denison, put this on your “must visit “list don’t forget to mark off at least two hours to soak it all in.
Tom O — Google review
They had a homeschooling day. Great place to learn about how the railroads played a part in WWII . Learned about the local history, made a soldiers meal, helped plant a victory garden and much more.

What a great place to visit they do such a great job keeping this museum up and paying homage to WW11 thank you glad we went
Roseanna B — Google review
I love trains and history! This place can satisfy both of those curiosities! It was so fun and interesting! I love the new crosswalk they just installed outside the depot!

Ernest Warther Museum & Gardens

Mentioned on
5 lists
Museum
Specialty Museums
The Ernest Warther Museum & Gardens in Dover, Ohio is a tribute to the renowned wood-carver Ernest "Mooney" Warther. Visitors can explore the home where he and his family lived, view his intricate wood carvings at the Button House, and see his untouched carving workshop from 1973. The museum also features the Dave Warther Arboretum with a diverse range of plant species.
Visited the Warther Museum once again, not only for the carvings, but the stories as well. There have been changes since COVID but their was no impact on the carvings, button collection, going through the old house, and the arrow heads collected and mounted. They are a story in themselves. This is true Americana. People who had dreams and the talent to make those dreams come to frution. If you haven't been, you wont be disappointed. Fabulous
Laura F — Google review
The Warther Museum teaches more than about Mr. Warther, we learned a lot about trains and the area around Dover before the European Settlers. Our group had a small child and there was room for her to walk around as we all saw the exhibits. If you like coins, there is a penny collection from 1773-1909. Amazing!
H B — Google review
This place was way better than I anticipated. I'd go back to spend more time viewing the exhibits. This is no second class museum. We learned a lot and really enjoyed it.
Larry E — Google review
I had never heard of Ernest and Frieda Warther but the visit to the museum, gardens, button house, and home was fascinating and well worth the price of admission ($20 adult; $19 senior 65+). I don't know how Mooney Warther carved all those train pieces by hand!! We took the guided tour, which I recommend. I think you'll get a much more in-depth understanding of Warther's work with the docent explaining everything. Well worth the drive to Dover, OH (from Cuyahoga Falls it's a 45-minute drive).
Virginia M — Google review
I came here with my mom as a kid but never knew where it was. When my husband and I decided to spend the night in Amish Country I decided to look for things to do and saw this. Knowing his love for trains and history i brought him. He loved it. I wish we'd have had more time. I will plan better next time.
Alice G — Google review
Very interesting museum! Well laid out, and exceptionally neat and clean. Well worth the visit.
John D — Google review
Amazing! I had the privilege to receive a pair of hand carved pliers from Mr. Warther when I was a small child. I just visited the museum again more than 5 decades later and was blown away. There are no words to describe the talent of this wonderful man, you must experience it first hand. I recommend joining one of the tours. It did not take too long and made the museum come alive and be so much more interesting. A must see gem in central Ohio.
Sheena M — Google review
I will be honest, I had never heard of the museum, Ernest Warther, or his carvings. We went with a group to the museum and I am so happy we did. The carvings on display are amazing! Probably the world's best woodcarver in all of history. The precision is mind-blowing. We were amazed at the talent. The museum does a great job telling the story of his life, which is very interesting, as well as presenting his amazing talents. I just can't say enough of how happy I am to have gotten to see and learn about the works of Ernest Warther. Also, the story of his family and spouse is great too. We also enjoyed seeing his wife's collection of buttons. All worth seeing. I highly recommend it and would certainly return.

Salt Fork State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
Salt Fork State Park is Ohio's largest state park, covering 17,229 acres of natural beauty and offering a range of outdoor activities. The park features a picturesque lake with marinas and boat ramps, as well as hiking trails and a beach for visitors to enjoy. Notably, the park is also known for being a popular spot for Bigfoot sightings, hosting the annual Ohio Bigfoot Conference and organizing monthly nighttime hikes to search for the elusive creature.
This place is all around great, they have great hiking trails with cool rocks, a beach to swim on the lake. The lodge has a pool you can swim at, an arcade and much more. I drive a little over 3 hours once a year to come here and this place never disappoints.
Dale I — Google review
Beautiful well maintained State Park. Lot of amenities, golfing, fishing, hiking, horseback riding trails, a beach. The lodge is beautiful with indoor and outdoor swimming pools! Very clean and neat, wasn't crowded, lots of parking.
3Delta7 — Google review
Had the best weekend camping here! Everything is so clean, people are friendly, TONS of stuff to do whether you are single, a couple or a family with kids! New ecosystem was awesome! Clean private beach for campgrounds, boat rentals and a launch if you have your own. Can't wait to go back!
April B — Google review
I really like this gem of a campground. Put water in my fresh water tank and had electricity at site. Site was easy to get into. Only complaint, the picnic table was on the site pad. It had to be moved. As a senior (over 60), this is becoming more difficult. I know, you are thinking, they have to cut the grass. Beach area and boat ramp just for campers. Great place. I was here last year and I am sure that I will stay here again. If I plan better, I might even get a full-hook up site!
Jeri H — Google review
Beautiful park, primitive campground is peaceful and nice, lots of activities. We rented pontoon boats, visited the eco-center, and saw the stone manor. Everything is well maintained and the kids had an amazing time!
Bence T — Google review
It is a very peaceful place to rest from the stress of life and pray. Absolutely beautiful place. Super calm and not crowded at all! Great place to enjoy God’s creation!!
Nathan B — Google review
First of all, im salty I didn't catch any forks! Jk jk 🤣 Seriously though, one of my favorite spots to fish! Lots of spots to pull over and fish! Today didn't yield anything for me but, the peaceful and beautiful view of the lake and sky was enough for me today. There's hiking trails near as well if you enjoy huffing and puffing, or biking if you like having cramps and Charlie horses for the next year. Either way a great place to go!!! Happy Fishing!!

Breitenbach Wine Cellars

Winery
Food & Drink
Lush winery offering tours & tastings of its own wines, plus a lunchtime cafe with salads & pizzas.
Love this winery! The property was gorgeous. They had live music in the barn. Wine slushies and plenty of other varieties to choose from. You can have a wine tasting in the main room. They are also building another building up on the hill. I'm not sure what it will be, but the view from up there was also stunning. We will have to go back when it opens.
Dena W — Google review
If their tasting area was larger I’d give them 5 stars. However, when it gets busy they limit you to 4 small samples and they only had 6 standing tables for sampling. They do have lots of food but we only had crackers to cleanse the palate. They have many more wines than other wineries. Definitely something for everyone.
Liz L — Google review
Fun place! We are in our fifties and stopped here for a wine tasting. Decor was unique, comfortable, and very clean. Wines were unique, and mostly sweet. We visited on a Monday in the late afternoon and it was not crowded at all. Staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable.
Tom D — Google review
Stepping into this winery is an experience in pure relaxation; the quiet and serene atmosphere encourages you to slow down and truly savor the moment. This winery is one of a few businesses in the area that are open on Sundays which is a great bonus. We started our visit by sampling a few wines before settling on a bottle of their delicious Cabernet Sauvignon. We also ordered some of their delightful flatbreads, which were a perfect complement to the wine. My husband enjoyed a wonderful wine tour led by the founder's grandson, who shared the history of this true family business with passion. You can feel the love and care put into every aspect of the winery. We were made to feel like part of the family, and we left feeling completely rejuvenated.
Nova T — Google review
Best Winery ever and tasting room us such a delight. Mindy was fantastic at getting our tasting shots, friendly along with very nice to all the customers waiting for tastings. Fabulous little German winery off the beaten path for sure. We went during the week to avoid the crowds and to enjoy the pleasan6winery without all the people. Numerous wines to select from so you can't go wrong as there is definitely some wine flavor for everyone for sure. Went with my sister, and we truly enjoyed our time there with Mindy selecting so many different ones to taste. Mindy had us try a mystery wine she selected for us, and to our amazement, it was so tasty to top it off. We ended up with a german reisling, peach, and plum fruit wine. They had a great selection of wine gifts, too. We ended up with shirts, glasses, and coasters. Wine prices were so reasonable, along with supporting a locally-owned winery that's been in business since 1980. It's definitely a winery tou don't want to miss, so take a drive for maybe 25 minutes and see Mindy for a tasting.
Rose — Google review
Mindy / Anita, Thank you for your excellent conversation and the delicious wine. We really enjoyed talking to you both and hope to see you both again. Your grounds are very nice and this was an easy trip off 39NW. We are pleased with the time we were able to spend here! Joe & Laura

Recently visited Breitenbach Wine Cellars in Dover, OH, and I must say, it was an experience worth every moment! From the moment we walked in, the welcoming atmosphere and the scent of wine filled the air, setting the tone for a memorable visit. The wine selection was impressive, offering a variety of flavors that catered to every palate, and the cheese pairings were absolutely divine – a true testament to their quality and selection. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly, providing insights into each wine we tasted. The serene environment, combined with the stunning views of Amish country, made for a peaceful and enjoyable afternoon. I highly recommend Breitenbach Wine Cellars to anyone passing through the area or looking for a lovely day out. A hidden gem in the heart of Ohio! 🍷🧀 #WineLovers #BreitenbachExperience

Pizza restaurant
Georgetown Tavern on the Hill in Cambridge, Ohio is a charming bar and restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience. During the summer, guests can enjoy their meals on the beautiful patio with stunning views of the town below. The restaurant features brick oven pizzas made to order, along with a special selection of wines, craft beer, and adult slushies. Visitors can also sample Georgetown Vineyards wines produced on site while taking in the picturesque vineyard views.
Great outdoor experience. The food is simple and tasty, and there is a large drink list. Slow down, take a seat on the huge deck area, have a glass of wine with some pizza and enjoy the view. The pizza is always good here and it has always been a great experience.
Jay H — Google review
I stopped in here on a Thursday evening and it wasn’t busy at all. This is an unconventional restaurant where you order at the host stand and then when your food is ready they page you with a buzzer. I came here to try the pizza so that I what I got. Overall it was very good pizza. They have a large outdoor seating area which some excellent views. I would expect this place to be quite busy in the summer. I will note the prices were quite high in my opinion but the food was good. I would definitely return here.
Carter D — Google review
What a breathtaking view! This is a super relaxing spot for outdoor dining and bird watching. Indoor tables are available. Pizza was freshly made. Wines are made from the grape arbors on the hillside. Wonderful view of the city below. Take binoculars!
Kathleen L — Google review
This is the most beautiful space with the most beautiful views in the area. Very casual in terms of the food experience. A perfect place just to sit and chat and enjoy the views! Staff is very friendly.
Michelle B — Google review
I wanted to find a place that you could really spend some time in a beautiful setting and I found it here. Had a beer and studied for a test for a couple of hours. You can take a walk through the vineyard too if you fancy. Definitely most scenic bar in the area to my knowledge. Wonderful scenic overlook with a bounty of Adirondack chair seating.
Julian H — Google review
I would give the outdoor atmosphere a 10 if I could. Beautiful views. Rachel, one of the staff, was very friendly and very helpful. This was our first time there. We were a little worried on our drive there as the scenery was industrial, but once we made the turn onto Georgetown road, it was all good. We got the Margherita pizza. Delicious. Seasoned very well.
Beth C — Google review
Fantastic location to enjoy the view on the decks and patio, or cozy indoors. Pizza is solid and the staff have been engaging each time we have been there. We tend to make it a destination each time we visit Muskingum University.
Daniel H — Google review
Had a burger and chicken fingers - served in paper baskets. Baklava cheesecake served in a plastic to-go container from the fridge/cabinet. We ate in. Had some samples of wine (free with purchase) and had a glass of wine with dinner. The patio and view are beautiful (it was chilly while we were there). We stayed off-grid overnight as Harvest Host guests, which is a wonderful option. Sites were not very level for a class B, but okay and it was very peaceful and quiet.

World's Largest Cuckoo Clock

Mentioned on

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The World's Largest Cuckoo Clock is a charming and whimsical attraction located in Sugarcreek, Ohio. This fully functional cuckoo clock features a water wheel, a dancing couple, and a four-piece polka band. Visitors can enjoy an hourly musical performance by the cuckoo bird from spring through fall. Adjacent to the clock is the Alpine Hill Museum, which showcases the town's history. The downtown area offers plenty of parking for visitors to easily access this entertaining spectacle.
I tell you you got to see it at least once! It is the world's largest, in a very nice small town. I was expecting a little more mechanical action, but it was worth the trip. It runs every 30 minutes and the park around it is pretty nice too.
Keith G — Google review
This is a very unique attraction and well made. However, there are two benches sitting right in front that make it harder to get a great photo without others if you are wanting one. Also, only on the hour and half hour does it “come to life” so you need to plan accordingly to see it at its best. Overall, a neat experience. It’s free to experience too. Also, parking is probably easier on a weekday than on weekends, so be prepared to walk a few blocks.
Katie H — Google review
It was fun to see the Clock and when it goes off on the hour. You can walk around the little city and visit the shops. They do have a museum the show you items from early 1900's It was a good time, but not a whole lot to do for kids. It is also based around eating at the restaurants and ice cream shops.

Free things to do in sugarcreek Ohio. Well maintain and surrounded by cute local gift shop. Highly recommend this place to visit with family and friends
Chintan T — Google review
Well the name fits the description. It is in fact the world largest cuckoo clock. It's worth seeing because you won't see the world's largest anywhere else. Or at least shouldn't.
Kay B — Google review
Just got back from Sugarcreek, Ohio, where the world’s largest cuckoo clock made me question every clock I’ve ever owned. (Sorry, iPhone, but do you have a dancing couple 💃🕺AND a yodeling bird? 🐦⏰ Didn’t think so.) After the clock struck “Whoaaa,” I wandered over to the Alpine Hills Historical Museum & Information Center 🏔️🏛️, where I learned that Ohio has more Swiss charm than my grandma’s cheese drawer. 🧀🇨🇭 10/10 would recommend for anyone who loves quirky roadside attractions 🚗, history 📚, and the thrill of not knowing when a giant wooden bird will pop out and surprise you! 😱😂 #CuckooForSugarcreek #SwissInOhio #ClockedInFun

Lovely lunch overlooking the river on a Saturday afternoon. Went here while in town visiting family. My husband and I celebrated our 19th anniversary here. We got a flight of berry wine. We both enjoyed the blackberry wine which was noted as award winning. We also tried blueberry wine which was also good. For food we tried the crab cakes, Margarita flatbread and boozy burger. Delicious food and some singing entertainment was setting up right as we had to leave. I would definitely come back if I'm in town again.
Sandra L — Google review
The wine flight was incredible, loved the presentation. Pretzel bites were super tasty, great portion size and the honey mustard/cheese dips were also really nice. The Boozy Burger was well received and the fries were great. Nice portion size as well. The Walleye special was one of the worst things I have ever ordered. The crust was with walnut and parmesean perhaps potato also, lacked any real flavor though. It did not stick to the fish well, and fell apart. The fish, while huge, was bland and screaming for a sauce. The small sliver of lemon did not help. I also had a few fish bones while eating which further killed this dish for me. The sides though were very good carrots glazed with honey/garlic and smashed redskins. Overall great place for wine, large variety of wines, very picturesque, and has good food options.

We came here on a Baecation. My fiance and I were very pleased with the Easter buffet as well as the hospitality. The Strawberry Lemonade wine was the best. I have to give a HUUUGGGEEEE shout out to Steve the Director of Operations. He was phenomenal. And shoutout to Billie. She was great and made me the cutest drink. We WILL be back!!

Great winery with a large variety. The Strawberry Lemonade wine was nice and refreshing for summer. The bartender was awesome for making suggestions. They even have frozen slushy wines. I had the orange creamsicle which was refreshing on a hot summer day,

Love Raven’s Glenn! We’ve come here for years!! We always are happy we’ve come!! Krissy is our lovely little server! She goes out of her way to make every visit a sweet memory. There are several other wonderful servers, as well!! We love Steve who comes and sets down with us to talk about “things!” Awesome experience. Love the wine and the food! A favorite is a great salmon atop of a really nice Caesar Salad with lots of cheese, croutons and really big enough for two if you choose. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Wide selection of wines from dry to sweet, so you will likely find something you like. The dinner menu is also very good if your looking for a nice date in the area.

My 1st winery experience certainly did not disappoint. We stumbled across this gem by pure chance. The staff were extremely welcoming and exceptionally knowledgeable. We spent our afternoon with them sampling and learning about the different wines they produce on site. The views were amazing along with the food. The next time we venture up north, this will definitely be on our todo list. (Ashley was amazing!!!!! Pictured below)

The Wilds

Wildlife and safari park
Nature & Parks
The Wilds is an extraordinary conservation center nestled in southeastern Ohio, spanning approximately 10,000 acres. Established in 1984 as a nonprofit initiative, it offers visitors a unique safari-like experience that includes thrilling ziplines and horseback animal explorations. For those seeking a romantic getaway, Nomad Ridge provides luxurious yurts exclusively for adults since its opening in 2009. Guests rave about the well-organized tours and engaging experiences available on-site, from guided sunset viewings to fishing adventures.
What an experience! The Wilds is an Ohio gem that is well worth the money. I would say great for kids 4 and up. The open air tour was so much fun, we saw so many animals near and far from the bus. They do have food and water on site as well as a great gift shop. The bus was a rough ride a times, more so at the back of the bus. Our tour guide was full of knowledge and made sure we saw everything. The beauty of the park and restoration efforts are worth seeing even if you aren't interested in the animals. They've done a great job making everything accessable for everyone, even the handicapped. Don't miss this adventure!

We stayed two nights in the Grand Yurt. The yurt was perfect. Central AC, mini fridge, and super comfy bed. The provided meals were delicious. The yurts are a short walk to the Overlook Cafe. There is a slight walk down to the Grand Yurt. The concierge service is a nice touch. The Open Air Safari was very educational. Make sure to bring a drink with you. The Wild Side Safari was exceptional. You get up close and personal with a lot of the animals. The Rhinos like to rub against the jeep. Bottled water was provided. The Zip Line was a lot of fun. Again, I suggest you bring water with you. All of the staff were very informative as well as helpful and fun.

The Force is alive in every hoofbeat and roar at The Wilds. We embarked on the Wildside Safari, and it surpassed every expectation. Rather than being confined to paved paths, we rode off-road in a custom truck with padded seats and a canopy — comfort and adventure in harmony. The open-air safari is lovely, but restricted to roads; the Wildside version lets you move closer to the animals, even into hidden corners of their habitat. (Be sure to bring binoculars as backup!) A moment I will never forget: we visited the giraffe barn and hand-fed a giraffe. With chill in the air, they’d been brought inside — an exclusive experience only possible on Wildside. To look eye to eye with that gentle giant and extend your hand is to touch a living Force. Our guide channeled true Jedi wisdom, weaving facts, conservation tales, and ways we can help protect these creatures and their world. After the safari, we browsed the gift shop and dined at the café, gazing out over the vast meadows — a scene so tranquil it could quiet the busiest mind. The Wilds also offers ziplining, horseback riding, and lodging options (yurts, cabins, camping). In fact, when you stay overnight, you may even get a tour‐discount. 📸 Jedi Camera Tips: Wide-angle lens captures sweeping vistas, savanna skies, and dramatic herd scenes. Zoom or telephoto lens (100–500mm or similar) gets you intimate shots of rhinos, giraffes, and especially those up-close barn moments. Don’t forget to shoot in “burst” or continuous mode — animals move with sudden grace.

We had a great time and awesome experience! Our tour guide was amazing, we couldn't have asked for better! (Got lucky there! 🙃) The animals were active, we had a cool brisk morning, everything but the giraffes were out and about. Glad we brought binoculars but still had all the animals close enough we didnt "NEED" them by any means.

It was a great experience, the tour guide was very helpful, love animals with a passion. We get to feed the animals. The facility was very clean well maintained, a great place for family to hang out, educated your kids about wildlife, nice scenery to get some fresh air or read a book. I will definitely return again in the spring.

Visiting The Wilds was a wonderful experience. Seeing these endangered species in a natural setting is an experience I will cherish. The animals we saw were not the only thing that made our visit special, the enthusiasm displayed by all the employees we interacted with was outstanding! You will not regret visiting The Wilds.

Exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a king sized yurt and did the Wildside tour. Worth every single penny. We got up close to the animals and learned so much new information from Logan, our tour guide. We got to feed a giraffe also! Lois was the best concierge staff for Nomad Ridge and we shared great conversations with other guests around the fire. Dinner and breakfast were included with our stay.

I was invited by friends to see the Wilds safari. We rode in an open bus. They also have closed bus tours. They quit allowing private car tours when they got rhinos. They don't have elephants or giraffes, but they have a number of endangered species. The lady bus driver/tour guide was knowledgeable. All in all, the tour was interesting and the bus stopped long enough to see the animals and be able to take pictures at a number of locations.

Historic Roscoe Village

Historical place museum
Sights & Landmarks
Preserved 1830s town with costumed guides, old-timey shops & craft classes, plus canal boat rides.
Such an awesome place. Be sure to stop into the visitors center, the lady working there so so friendly and informative. If you want a boat tour or the self guided tour plan to arrive earlier in the day. We arrived too late to do those things, so we will have to go back again. But the shops were amazing and everyone was incredibly friendly.
Ashley A — Google review
The village is primarily a retail area of shops and cafe/bars with scattering of restored living history exhibits. The Visitor Center has a museum on the second floor with more retail items. Visiting out of season, there was plenty of parking. But in season I bet this place is a parking/traffic nightmare. Several of the visitor desks were un- manned. The one person manning the center was totally disinterested in engaging with us. We were treated like a nuisance. Not a good look for a public facing job. The price for tickets to the living history displays were reasonable. But could be pricey for a big family.
Gary C — Google review
It's such a cute little historical village. Really enjoyed exploring the shops and cafes.
Susan K — Google review
We enjoyed our visit. Learning the history of the town and the canals was very interesting. The tour was informative and the shops were fun to look through and all the shop owners/workers were helpful and friendly. Going on the canal ride was a fun and it has a gift shop and large parking lot. There is picnic areas near the main museum with a small shopping area and restrooms. The little shops were cute and informative some had people who dressed the part, gave demos and answered questions which was really nice others just had videos you pressed and though still imformative would have been nicer to have people. The only thing we were disappointed about was not being able to try activities, it would’ve been nice to try the broom weaving, or make some candle making or printing press etc having something hands on at some of the stops would make it better. The scavenger hunt available in the museum was fun for my son and I. Overall we had a great time and would absolutely come back for a nice stroll and a visit.
Savannah P — Google review
Lovely 1800s era canal town reenactment. They have costumes and themed enactments if you take the paid tour. Several events throughout the year. Especially loved the Christmas candle lighting. Very nice time for the whole family. Best food we had was at the Bear diner and at Roscoe BBQ.
MJ W — Google review
The living history elements were very nicely done. Especially the shop with the brooms. Next level
Brett G — Google review
I expected that the village would have live reenactors. However, only the blacksmith was there. Everyone else had been replaced by a soulless video. Ticket price: 13$ for an adult ticket is a bit too much, perhaps. Despite all this, we enjoyed the experience and were glad to have done it.
Grant W — Google review
We enjoyed our short visit walking around the shops. We didn't but the tickets for the museum part of it so I can't comment on that. It was a nice place to visit for the afternoon. Love the different shops and the ambiance of the street. It was very peaceful and not a long distance to walk. I would suggest parking at the Welcome Center instead of on the street. Lots of information at the welcome center.

My wife and I have been there twice together and she had gone several other times with my mother. In years past, when business was booming, it was really interesting and lively. The last time there, we took our kids and I think there were literally less than 50 other people there... The place was a ghost town, which is a shame given how vital their business is/was to the community. I believe hope people continue to support the local craftsmen and craftswomen who made this business what it was.
Steve B — Google review
I really enjoyed it here but sadly felt the faded glory of Longaberger. The mini "amusement park" is excellent for photo, especially the huge apple basket. Gift shop is pricey but some discounted item is amazing (look for the discounted basket liner). Good choice for wedding if your family & friends are close by or don't mind a bit driving.
J W — Google review
It's like a ghost town. There are some great discounts and deals, but if you are expecting more of an experience stay home and save yourself the disappointment.
April M — Google review
I visited the homestead August 31, 2017. While the place isn't the same as the bustling 20 years ago, it's so worth a visit. The wares are still gorgeous and hand crafted in this age of throw away junk. I made a basket with Michelle and it was a fantastic experience. Go with an open mind to change and you won't be disappointed. I do suggest you eat first, there is limited choices for food in the area.
Amy R — Google review
While this place may not be "what it used to be", it is definitely worth a visit and worth our support. What an excellent showcase of the work of American craftsmen (and women)! The staff were so friendly, Lisa at the Make-a-Basket was so helpful and knowledgeable, and the pizza at J. R.'s Terrace was delicious - homemade crust and sauce. We will definitely be back, but in the meantime, will treasure this memory and the beautiful baskets we'll take with us.
Michelle F — Google review
No new products offered, was really disappointed, we were the only people in the entire building other than maybe 3 employees. Not the shining star it was a few years ago when it would take hours to go through the homestead main store. Very disappointing after driving 4.5 hours for nothing. Please update the web page to give an accurate description of what is now the reality.
Tania S — Google review
It was okay if I was not near the place I probably would not of stopped. Definitely was not what it was bragged up to be. When you hear the name Longanberger you think nice it was kind of a disappointment from the ruts in the parking lots to where you enter then you go to another building to shop. Staff was pleasant and was helpful.
Cliff W — Google review
They have a museum and a big store with baskets and also handmade crafts to help the local community. They also offer store tours and great discounts. The iconic basket building from Newark was replaced for one a little bit shorter but its still nice to go there as a touristic attraction.

Historic Muskingum River "Y" Bridge

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Bridges
I just love the fact that we have a bridge in the shape of a y and the look on people's faces when you give them directions to turn right or turn left once they get to the middle of the bridge 😂
Deborah L — Google review
The only bridge like it in the World. Initially built in 1914 the Y shape was created to allow traffic heading East across the bridge to go either North or South as heading straight on would involve driving straight into a mountain. Aviators use this bridge for a reference point and famed pilot Amelia Earhart said it was the most recognizable city in America. This is a fifth generation bridge with the first being a trestle bridge and then a covered bridge. Before traffic lights were invented a traffic officer would be stationed in the center of the Y to direct traffic. It was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records and on the National Register of Historic Places.
Scott — Google review
Only Y Bridge in the world. Had to drive it and take a walk. The water moves very swiftly over the dam and under the bridge. Love the impressive light poles. It looks good on the city of Zaynesville how well they have preserved this historic asset.
Martin C — Google review
Crossing the Y Bridge is a novel experience, both amusing and impressive at the same time. I have read that Amelia Earhart once remarked that it made Zanesville the most easily recognized city in the US from a pilot's point of view. Where else can you tell someone to drive to the middle of the bridge and turn left?
Jonny O — Google review
My hometown. I brag about the y bridge and Amelia erheart connection. Lovely for raising a family.

We are on a mission to see all of Ohio's "World's Largest" and this one is probably the main one Ohio is known for. It was much bigger than I expected and quite a sight to see. It is easy to get to off the highway and a good place for a photo op. Very cool to finally see this in person.

Whether you appreciate architecture or simply want to immerse yourself in something extraordinary, the Basket Building is a must-see destination.

This building used to be the Longaberger basket company in Newark, Ohio. It was built to resemble a picnic basket. The business closed some years ago, but the building is still a city landmark.

Well it's abandoned and it's a world record so you get a two for one deal with this gem. Definitely worth a visit if you're passing by. It's huge (that's what she said) and you can see it from the street. You have to park off the road and walk up to the building. No one is cutting the grass or tending to the yards so it's kind of out of control. It smells like dog poop around the building and I'm sure strays are using it as their litterbox.

The Dawes Arboretum

Arboretum
Nature & Parks
The Dawes Arboretum, established in 1929 by Beman and Bertie Dawes, spans over 1,800 acres and features a historic home. The arboretum showcases various plant collections including crab apples, conifers, oaks, azaleas, and hollies. It offers a plethora of educational experiences and miles of trails for walking, driving or biking through beautiful landscaping and gardens.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Dawes Arboretum, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The sprawling 1,800-acre property offers a serene escape into nature, showcasing a diverse collection of beautiful trees, plants, and flowers meticulously curated for visitors to enjoy. The Arboretum's well-maintained walking trails allowed me to explore various themed gardens, each presenting its own unique charm. The Japanese Garden was particularly stunning, with its tranquil pond and traditional architectural elements creating a peaceful oasis. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic, adding depth to my understanding of the plant species and conservation efforts. Additionally, the interactive exhibits in the visitor center were engaging and informative, making the trip both educational and enjoyable. Overall, The Dawes Arboretum is a fantastic destination for nature lovers and families alike, offering a perfect blend of relaxation and learning. Whether you're interested in horticulture or simply seeking a serene day out, this arboretum is a must-visit.
Louie S — Google review
"Dawes Arboretum is an absolute treasure! Whether you're looking for a peaceful stroll, a challenging hike, or a beautiful place to learn about nature, this place has it all. The diverse plant collections, including the stunning Japanese Garden and the unique cypress swamp, offer something new to discover with every visit. I especially love the auto tour for a relaxed experience, and climbing the observation tower for that amazing view of the hedge letters is a must. It's clear how much care goes into maintaining the grounds. A truly enriching and beautiful experience for all ages!"
Buckeye S — Google review
My wife and I visited Columbus recently and I found out about this place after looking for something peaceful and pleasant to do outdoors on our way home as we always do on road trips. Before we stopped we had some idea of the scale of this place, but when we actually got there it was truly mind blowing. The grounds are so vast and so beautiful we spent the entire day and learned a lot about trees and the various plants. I also booked a tour of the house ahead of time. We learned a lot of history on the tour and our guide was extremely knowledgeable and super friendly. Plus the tour itself is very detailed and they show you more of the house than I was expecting (including an amazing surprise in the basement). I can’t recommend highly enough. It’s a lot of walking because the grounds cover thousands of acres all of which is absolutely stunning, so plan accordingly. There is also an “auto tour” around the arboretum, with places along the way to pull off and take in the sights and fresh air. It’s amazing the dedication and care that all of their marvelous staff puts into maintaining this treasure including past caretakers (who are thoughtfully and graciously memorialized in one of the outbuildings telling you about the history of the arboretum and the people who established it). Some of the cool things that we saw there have inspired us in our own gardening endeavors at home as well. We will be returning again and again! We absolutely LOVED The Dawes Arboretum. I told all of my family about it as well, because I think everyone should enjoy their splendid green spaces, fresh air, and tall trees (especially for how low the price of admission was). If you’re a tree lover, a gardener, or you just appreciate the great outdoors and aesthetic beauty in general, this is the place for you. Actually it’s the place for everybody, because it is impossible not to find peace, tranquility, and harmony while strolling their forested trails and beautiful gardens. We could all use some of that in our lives and the Dawes Arboretum certainly provides.

We are traveling in the area. Decided to check this place out. So happy we did. I know we missed things. So we will be back here before we leave. They have paved and dirt trails. Have a little gift shop. Employees were very knowledgeable and helpful. Plenty of parking.

A naturalist led the Mushroom Walk. She was knowledgeable and nice. My son really wanted to know which mushrooms were edible and she answered all his questions. Once she said to ID a fungus property would take some more work and I thought that was respectable for a walk without tools etc. The bathrooms at the gift shop / discovery center were clean. The trails were well maintained and the discovery center was interesting and designed with kids in mind.

10/20/2024 - My family and I visited The Dawes Arboretum over the weekend. It was amazing and an unforgettable experience. There are about 12-14 miles to hike on their beautiful scenic area. You may also drive through The Dawes Arboretum where vehicles are permitted. There are all types of trees, plants, flowers, and a few wildlife. Every path you encounter and every step you take is a scene. You will also see artistry within the arboretum. There are designated parking lots throughout the arboretum for you to park and get out to explore. Per the staff member/greeter at the entrance, it is about 12-14 miles of a hike to see the entire Arboretum. There are also educational facilities within the arboretum along with a visitor center, and museum. You may bring your four-legged friends. Family space to make memories with nature. Nice and friendly staff. Cost to enter is 10.00. Enjoy.

Velvet Ice Cream - Home of Ye Olde Mill

$$$$cheap
Ice cream shop
Family-run ice cream parlor in a quaint mill also featuring a gift shop & an ice cream museum.
Historic ice cream shop in Utica! There are tons of ice cream flavors, even dairy free options! Nice displays of the history behind the company. Have a restraunt on site, we were there on a Sunday, and they had live music on the patio outside. Nice property with a small pond, pavilions and a playground!
Tegan C — Google review
Nestled in a picturesque park-like setting, Ye Olde Mill is a family-owned gem that offers a perfect blend of history, fun, and of course, incredible ice cream. Whether you’re seeking a memorable day trip or a sweet escape, this place is the perfect destination. The moment you step inside Ye Olde Mill, you’re enveloped in charm. The restored 19th-century grist mill stands tall amidst 20 acres of rolling hills, ponds, and lush greenery. It’s like stepping back in time, where a peaceful and family-friendly vibe envelops you. The outdoor areas are a haven for relaxation and enjoyment. Picnic tables, a playground, and a catch-and-release fishing pond cater to both kids and adults alike. But the real star of the show is Velvet Ice Cream. With over a century of crafting premium ice cream, they’ve earned a stellar reputation. I savored their signature Buckeye Classic, a heavenly fusion of peanut butter and chocolate. Rich, creamy, and utterly indulgent, it was a taste of pure bliss. The flavor variety is impressive, with over 40 options to choose from, including classic favorites like vanilla and chocolate, as well as unique seasonal creations. Indecisive dessert lovers like me will rejoice at the inclusion of samples. Before you commit to a scoop, you can indulge in a taste of the magic. The ice cream parlor inside the mill exudes a cozy and nostalgic charm, adding to the overall experience. And for those interested in the history of Velvet Ice Cream and the Dager family’s four-generation legacy, the small ice cream museum is a delightful bonus. It’s a fun way to learn about the past while enjoying a scoop of your favorite ice cream. To complete your visit, the gift shop offers an array of ice cream-themed souvenirs, perfect for taking home and sharing with loved ones. Velvet Ice Cream at Ye Olde Mill offers a delightful experience beyond just a sweet treat. The onsite restaurant serves a variety of lunch and dinner options. I savored their hearty and delectable Reuben sandwich, though I must admit that the food prices seemed a bit steep compared to the quality. Nevertheless, you’re truly paying for the overall experience, and in that regard, it’s an investment worth making. Just be sure to save room for dessert! Families will find plenty of activities to keep their children entertained. Feeding the ducks at the pond and enjoying the playground are just a few options. However, I was disappointed to learn that the factory tours, which provide a behind-the-scenes look at the ice cream-making process, are only available on weekdays. Plan accordingly if this is a must-do for you. Additionally, Ye Olde Mill is a seasonal attraction, open from May to October, so ensure your visit aligns with these months. A few practical tips: if you want to feed the ducks or utilize some of the smaller amenities, consider bringing cash. Visiting on a weekday can also help avoid the weekend crowds, especially during peak summer months or special events like the Utica Ice Cream Festival over Memorial Day weekend. The staff was friendly and helpful, but service in the restaurant can be slow during busy times, so patience is key. Overall, Velvet Ice Cream at Ye Olde Mill is a quintessential Ohio experience that combines delicious ice cream with a charming, historic setting. It’s the kind of place that leaves you with a smile on your face and a craving for just one more scoop. I eagerly anticipate my next visit, perhaps trying the raspberry cordial or one of their seasonal sundaes. Highly recommended for families, couples, and anyone with a sweet tooth!

Our granddaughters (11 & 7) enjoyed our visit. Play area was ok. Restaurant was clean & our service was great. The ice cream was worth the trip from Columbus.

We tried to go to ice cream festival on Memorial Day weekend after spending the day sightseeing in Coshocton. We arrived 30 minutes before closing and the only parking available was $10. We kept driving. I had been to the festival years ago and don’t remember a parking fee. We visited several weeks later that’s not a festival day and was able to enjoy ice cream on the patio. Ice cream was delicious. There is a playground area for the kids. Parking was free.

Absolute gem of an ice cream shop. A very historic and beautiful atmosphere. The shop also has its own candy and soda pop. Plenty of comfortable outdoor seating. Lots of nice areas for kids to run around and explore including an arcade, pond for fishing, and playground.

Today we stopped by to take a break from driving and sat at a picnic table in a shelter house area and enjoyed a cold drink. Sometimes we stop to get ice cream which is always very good.

Great food and delicious ice cream. Ben and Andrea put together a perfect event for my team building. This is a hidden gem that is perfect for special occasions and work related special events.

Nice place to chill with the family. Good selection of ice creams. Have hit food but kitchen closes early, I think 5 pm. Play area is nice. A few shelters. Lots of seating places. Nice ponds (2) with mostly Largemouth bass. My 5 yr got her first here!

This is a wonderful Rails to Trails ride. We did 10 miles and back for 20 total. Lots of wildlife and great scenery along the way. It was a completely paved trail that had lots of stopping points, plenty of benches and great views. Well worth the visit.

This is a very scenic part of the trail. I started at the trailhead near Mt.Vernon Avenue to the railroad bridge. The hills get higher near the bridge, and the trail and river make for a picturesque setting. These are pictures from April 6th, 2025, after a few days of heavy rainfall.

This is a great trail, we traveled from Mt Vernon to the tunnel in Howard. There is a lot of shade and some great scenery. There are places to stop and rest, and a few bathrooms along the way too.
Ken T — Google review
I can only speak to about 10 miles of the trail but it is seriously one of the best I’ve been on for biking and walking. There’s a lot of wildlife too. During my quick ride today I saw a deer and two groundhogs. A lot of the trail is surrounded by trees which provides nice shade / scenery. I love that there are benches throughout and I love the bridges! I have tried to rollerblade here before and while it was okay it can be tricky due to the sticks and debris from the trees etc.

One of Ohios best bike rides!! Smooth surface the whole way with a good amount of hill climbs and scenic farms along the way.
Jennifer S — Google review
Most scenic trail I have done. I parked in a parking lot in mount vernon. Went left from parking lot. Train you can climb on about 4 miles out. Another 5 miles (9 total) is the tunnel built mid 1800s.

This is a great trail to walk or ride your bike. I travel all the way from Columbus because this is my favorite trail to ride my bike 25-40 miles. There is a tree canopy for most of the trail so you don’t have to worry much about getting too hot or getting too much sun. The initial ride is along the River on one side and a big wooded hill on the other. The trail doesn’t have many big hills to ride over, it’s pretty level.

Just got back from a morning bike ride with the family. This is a really nice, peaceful trail with a lot of scenery. It runs along the Kokosing river in Mt. Vernon and continues to Gambier to the south. Nice little getaway for some morning exercise and relaxation.

Hocking Hills Canopy Tours is an outdoor adventure company offering a variety of thrilling activities for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy zip line and Segway tours, as well as other exciting options. The X-Tour zip line is a popular choice, providing an amazing experience with knowledgeable and engaging guides. The Hocking Hills Golf Club also offers a challenging Par-71 course set amidst the beautiful Hocking Hills scenery, providing an affordable yet rewarding golfing experience.
We did the Original Canopy Tour and it was incredible! Skyler and Ella were amazing instructors and guides. The tour starts out with getting geared up and a practice run that is not far off the ground. They teach you everything you need to know for the course. The course was about 10 zip lines and 3 sky bridges so it was worth it for the time spent on this adventure. Ella and Skyler were also great entertainment while we were up there. They remembered everyones names, gave us fun facts and even had some funny jokes to entertain us. My son is 10 years old and he had an absolute blast! I personally am terrified of heights but felt so comfortable with Ella & Skyler that I almost forgot how high up we were. Maria was also great - she took us to and from the course and was an excellent driver. We would definitely do this adventure again. Well worth it!

Beautiful experience The tour was very well organized. Carl and Ella both were exceptional in explaining, supporting and encouraging all of us through the zipline tour. We enjoyed it thoroughly. The price may seem high but once you reach and go through the 2.5 hours awesome experience then you will totally forget about the money and take a boatload of great experience with you. Thanks Carl and Ella once again for making the tour awesome.

Unbeatable experience.. It’s one of the best Zipline tours I’ve been on. Canopy tours operations department really had styled in. I had a low bar set, but I was thoroughly impressed. It is truly World class. Speaking from an operational perspective, They nailed all the details, from harness us up to safety checks, to smooth, professional tour guides, they even watered the dusty roads down, so you don’t get caught and clogs of dust when being shuttled back-and-forth from line to line.. Thoroughly impressed special shout out to my guidance Riley and Ian.. they were fantastic. I will definitely take my family back sooner than later.

My wife and I came here to celebrate our second wedding anniversary and let me tell you… this place was the BEST. The views and experience were incredible, and the group we were paired up with were a delight. If I could give both of our guides 6 stars I would. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Justin and Xandra were incredible, hilarious, and made the experience an absolute blast, while communicating enough to make us feel safe the entire experience. Thank you to those two especially and I know we’ll be back in the future!

I had a great time. The staff was so wonderful and friendly except for one of the guys who helps bring you in once you land. He offered the woman who went down with me to help take a photo of her. Since he didn't offer me the same treatment. I took it apon myself to take my own photo. Then he looked over at me a raised his voice a bit at me and told me to move behind the red gate! I replied and said "I will after I take my photo in which you did NOT offer to assist me with. He didn't offer the other ladies a photo either. On a side note, I wish they offer videos or photos for the superman zipline tour customers. Overall I had a blast!

Conkles Hollow State Nature Preserve

Nature preserve
Nature & Parks
Tree-lined hiking trails along sandstone cliffs or at the foot of a gorge dotted with waterfalls.
Do not miss this wonderful nature preserve in Hocking Hills. This short trail is accessible for almost anyone , even most of the "trail" ( mostly a paved path ) is smooth and level. Spectacular scenery. The parking lot does get crowded, which underscores just how unique this place is. Still, we found a spot and enjoyed the experience.
Steve K — Google review
We hiked the 2 mile rim trail in the early afternoon and the shorter gorge trail later in the day close to 6 pm. I would consider the rim trail moderate difficulty but if you have any knee issues be mindful there are a lot of rock and steps to climb, but roots that will trip you up which makes it more strenuous. The vista views on the rim were amazing and you really appreciate the height if you do the gorge trail after. It was a lovely woodsy hike and a small doe was eating nearby. The gorge trail was stunning especially when the sun is going down. It’s a super easy walk perfect for families.
Nicole R — Google review
This is a great hike in the Hocking Hills region. The main trail though the gorge is wheelchair accessible, except for the final part to the waterfall. There was definitely a small crowd, so don't expect to feel isolated. The hike around the gorge is also great! Some very incredible views. The fall foliage was amazing. There is an old CCC cabin just over halfway through the trail, which was cool. There are numerous displays that explain the history of the Civilian Conservation Corps in the region.
Nathan W — Google review
A fantastic preserve. The gorge trail is absolutely beautiful. There are many wondrous natural features to see. The trail is nearly fully accessible. The final section to the falls is an easy and very short hike. Definitely make time for this one if you are in the area. We did not hike the Rim Trail.
Tyler C — Google review
We took the lower, easier trail with a 7, 5, 4, and 2 two year olds. It was a very nice and easy trail most of the way back. At some point it goes from paved to not paved. That was a little more challenging with the younger kids, but so worth it at the end. It is very flat with beautiful scenery. I highly recommend to everyone looking for something doable with children. Just beware about 80% of the way it changes.
Eric F — Google review
The rim trail, at a moderate 2 1/2 miles, is lovely. It starts with SEVERAL steps straight up, with a couple landings to rest. The scenery is beautiful, however we were there after a lot wind over night, that blew down a lot of the colorful leaves. Still it was a beautiful hike. Highly recommended. They also have 1/2 mile wheelchair accessible trail that runs down the middle of the gorge.
Barry K — Google review
Complete trail completed in about 2 hours. Younger hikers would probably take less time. Hiking boots or shoes that can grip recommended. Many steps to get to top and some dirt trail that can be slippery on the way down. Since August is dryer month there were no water falls visible. Views are wonderful. Make sure to turn around to see the views behind you. I would not recommend taking little children as there are many non guarded drop offs.
Barbara S — Google review
This was 2nd time visiting. The walk through the gorge is really easy, paved most of the way. I have not done the upper rim hike. It is a nice walk, totally recommended if you are in the area.

Slate Run Living Historical Farm

Farm
Sights & Landmarks
Met Officer Mark today; thank you for counting to enjoy what you do! My love for the State of Ohio goes pretty deep, rooted here if you will. Slate Run is worth every trip.
C M — Google review
I've been to Slate run many times, with and without my family. It has been an enjoyable experience until this visit. Our family decided to go to get our holiday photos for a card. The kids sat on fences and in front of barns. The big work horses were brought out and the site volunteer mocked is for being on the hog fence, as we were going to get manure on us. There wasn't any manure near and no signs to let us know to avoid this particular fence. It was done for a laugh from the small audience watching the horses. The volunteer ruined the morning for my kids who were very embarrassed and wanted to immediately leave. Shame on you and your assinine behavior to children.
Regina P — Google review
Such a cute family experience! The male farmer was very kind and asked us if we had any questions and told us a little about his job. We couldn’t access the pig area due to it being overrun with a hornets nest but we peaked inside. They display a lot of neat old farm equipment. Everything has signage if necessary and it’s very well maintained.
Taylor H — Google review
I think the first time I visited the working historical farm was in 1989. It is a true gem and Ohio treasure! It's a self guided tour while volunteers work the many aspects of the farm! All buildings (there are a LOT) are marked and you can follow the map. There is an alphabetized map for kids (as and adults) and so much to see and learn. No two days are the same! Plenty of parking and new restrooms! The work horses were being used today! So very much to see and it's very much like stepping back in time! In addition, I cannot say enough good things about the farm manager Ann, and her entire staff!! They work very hard physically and they are a wealth of information of how farms operated over a century ago. Kudos to all and thank you for allowing future generations to get a priceless look back in time!!
Barb F — Google review
What a wonderful place this is! My daughter and I truly enjoyed the opportunity to step back into history and learn about the 1880s farm life. It brought me a lot of nostalgia when I remembered my Grandmother and Grandfather's farm from when I was a little girl. It was a lot like this farm. They have many hands on interactive learning areas that my daughter loved especially. Definitely worth the trip! We will be going back in the spring to see the planting season.
Kara B — Google review
Truly a peaceful and wonderful experience that really reminds you to slow down and experience everything. Such a beautiful place.
Daniel V — Google review
This is a very “real” working farm, filled with tons of opportunities to learn and explore, from the orchard to the smoke house and root cellar, to the barn and main house filled with period pieces. This is a great place for kids to get hands on experience with some farm animals. One note: the park employees in this area are in historical dress, but are not historical actors/interpreters. That said - they were very friendly and filled with great info!

Tanger Outlets Columbus

Mentioned on

Shopping
Tanger Outlets Columbus is a shopping destination that showcases numerous brand-name and designer outlet stores. Apart from the shopping experience, visitors can explore other exciting places such as Short North Arts District, Downtown Columbus, and Ohio State University while reveling in the low prices available at Tanger Outlets. The mall features a shaded play area for children, various food vendors/food trucks, and requires masks to be encouraged but not mandatory for indoor shopping.
Always fun walking around the outlet. Most of the stores are still occupied which is nice. You never know what kind of deals you will come across here. Some of the main stores are Nike, Old Navy, Under Armor, Victoria Secrets, Hey Dude, and American Eagle. There's also an Auntie Anne's if you want something to snack on.
Steve M — Google review
I love this place! I save so much money, and it’s conveniently right off the highway. It’s an easy way to score expensive items for cheap. Just a heads-up—August and December usually don’t have the best deals; May tends to be the best time to shop. There’s plenty to do in Columbus, but this outlet is far superior to the crowds and prices at other malls in the area.
Nhung V — Google review
I shopped in Old Navy (one of the brands inside Tanger Outlets). There's a lot of options available. The clothes are trendy. Price ranges are around $50 for a decent shirt. The quality comes with it. Fo window shopping, or to pass some time, it's a great place. They have many stores here. There's also a Starbucks inside. It's quite nice to visit with friends and family. I didn't buy anything (didn't need anything), but it's a nice place to visit.
MANOJ G — Google review
Ah, Tanger Outlets — where discounts flow stronger than the Force itself! Nearly every store was flashing “40–70% Off” signs like lightsabers calling out to my wallet. From sporty finds at Nike and Under Armour to cozy hoodies at GAP and stylish steals at Francesca’s, the deals were as plentiful as stormtroopers at a parade. The atmosphere was bright and clean, with friendly staff and well-organized displays. But heed this Jedi’s warning: if you bring your wife and young Padawan along, your credits may vanish faster than a TIE fighter in hyperspace. Each “just one more store” turned into a galactic mission of bag-carrying proportions. Still, totally worth it. Great selection, unbeatable prices, and plenty of places to refuel between battles with the sale racks. The Force of savings is strong here — just remember, self-control is not included in the discount!
Dain W — Google review
Tanger Columbus is now one of my favorite Shopping Outlets I look forward to going to for great deals. My first shop was Adidas. When entering I was greeted with a delightful smile. Good afternoon, welcome to Adidas, is there anything you’re interested in? I shared my interest. The Customer Service Rep then introduced herself, my name is Maura, and I am confident that we have what you’re looking for. Honestly, I would have completed my purchase at the first rack and other racks in that area. But Maura made sure I explored other options and that Adidas has two logos, both known Worldwide. Understood, the different sales are currently available 50%, 40%. Make sure my size was available and check out the different colors. Maura directed me to a spacious, clean dressing room with no pins and paper all over the place. I’m like OK! I left Adidas with a smile on my face and smile in my wallet. Thank you, Maura, for a delightful shopping experience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had limited time and only went to Clark's shoes. BUYER BEWARE!!! Upon walking into the store, the clerk said all shoes $39.95!!! (Clearly sounds incorrect, so I paid attention to that announcement). She said the same to each of the next 6-8 people who entered. I picked out two pairs and went to pay. We were taking about the area and I did not pay attention to my receipt . Got home and was charged $109. In spite of the fact that this was $30 higher, it was a good deal. However I would likely have bought only one pair. I did call and explained this to someone who said they were the manager. They said that the $39.95 was for the clearance racks. Perhaps, but that is not what she said. Then said if I was unhappy with them, I could Return to Aurora Outlet store. I guess a one hour drive is better than a two and a half hour drive to return them. (we were coming home from a trip and stopped at Rangers).

Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is a sprawling 88-acre destination featuring both indoor and outdoor art and nature exhibits, as well as lush greenhouses and beautifully landscaped grounds. The conservatory offers seasonal displays, short-term art exhibitions, and permanent indoor biomes showcasing over 400 plant species from around the globe. Notably, it houses the largest private botanical garden collection of glass works by renowned artist Dale Chihuly.
What an amazing place! Came by on a warm and sunny day and were blown away by how gorgeous the grounds are. We saw staff working on stuff everywhere. As someone who has a hard time walking distances, I was pleasantly surprised to be offered an electrical scooter at no charge to help get around. The place is very large and clearly marked for what plants are where and also how to avoid staircases. Volunteers were very evident and were obviously happy to be there. Wonderful place to spend time.

I had such a wonderful visit to the Franklin Park Conservatory! The different biomes were fascinating and made the experience both serene and educational. The bonsai exhibit was absolutely immaculate, and I was pleasantly surprised by how impressive the architecture itself was as part of the attraction. A beautiful place to spend the day and definitely worth a return trip!

I felt the price was about $5 to high. However, we booked for 5:30 entry and it was still daylight and have to have the children home at a certain time so they didn’t get to see the cool stuff come to life til we left. I understand it’s a wedding venue as I got married there at Christmas time. So we missed out on seeing the Palm house. Not spooky at all. Great for kids of all ages. Just wish the prices were lower so even the kids that come from low income families could enjoy it too.

I haven't been to the Franklin Park Conservatory for over 40 years and my girlfriend has never been so what better way to spend our one year anniversary than to spend a day enjoying all the beautiful sights and smells😊. It was better than I remembered! I was even better at night seeing the place lit up for the Pumpkins Aglow event. I was very romantic and the smiles she had was priceless 😍

My Granddaughter and her Fiancée were just Married here 11-8-25. The Franklin Park Conservatory is absolutely Beautiful for a wedding. Beautiful plants, Blown glass art, the people setting up, everything was perfect. The grounds are gorgeous for pictures, and just to walk around see topiary, plants, trees. Gorgeous place to visit, take pictures to take with family, etc.

We went to Pumpkins A'glow prior to Halloween as our first visit to the conservatory. Our family enjoyed the everything inside and out. The detail and variety was amazing. We will definitely be going back for more events.

This was a great little excursion while in Columbus. The Flora is beautiful and the chihuli glass is incredible. It doesn’t take up your whole day to tour and I was happy with the amount to see.

Polaris Fashion Place is a modern mall featuring a mix of chain retailers and specialty shops, along with kiddie events, play areas, and a food court. During the summer months, visitors can enjoy free live music performances on Thursday nights. The mall boasts over 200 stores and restaurants including popular brands like Apple, Lululemon, H&M, and Macy's.
Always a great experience here. I’m a bit partial to Easton. But Polaris offers all of the same shops and the surrounding area is great. I also have family here so it’s a nice stop in the middle of the day. I also love the movie theater near by.

Polaris is the only good indoor mall in Columbus. It’s a great place to beat the weather and shop comfortably. It’s well maintained and is fully occupied with a diversity of stores and restaurants. There’s a cool play area for kids and a small food court. The only negative that I noticed is the oddly located and small bathroom facilities.
Ed W — Google review
Well kept up mall with almost all the store spaces filled and a bustling environment. Easy to shop.

Posh mall. Lots of cute and neat stores for everyone! Spacious and the parking is plenty, too.

Such nice people and workers! Food court was awesome, but most of all the stores and atmosphere. Such a fun place to be in!

Awesome mall 👏 been coming here for years and it’s just as nice of a mall as the first day it opened. They have events and stuff they throw that are AWESOME!! Like this week is a free signature from a professional Hockey 🏒 Player !!! NHL player signing pictures free 🆓

Decent indoor shopping mall with major retailers like Macy’s, JCPenney, Saks, Apple, Dick’s Sports, and others. There is a volleyball training place (?) as well. They have a nice food court with a good variety of food options (Popeye’s chicken coming soon). The mall has a very relaxed vibe which I enjoy. Plenty of parking spaces.

Topiary Park, situated in the Discovery District of Downtown Columbus, is a unique and tranquil attraction for botany enthusiasts. It stands out as the only public park in the world featuring landscape plants meticulously trimmed to recreate Georges Seurat's famous post-impressionist painting 'A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.' The brainchild of sculptor James T.
Tucked away right behind the Columbus Metropolitan library and the prestigious school is this beautiful garden full of metal and shapes and a pond and picture us moments. I went for Wellness Wednesdays, which will be held throughout the summer and got an opportunity to bring in a beautiful day with great stretches and more Wednesdays to come with Soundbath and meditation.

As others have said, a cool little garden tucked away in downtown - nicely shaded on the hot summer day. Pay to park on the street for less than $1.00 for an hour. The link between the painting and the topiary is a nice approach. If you walk outside the park, some nice murals and sculptures as well. Can spend at least 30 minutes there.

This was my first time visiting the Topiary Park, and it is absolutely beautiful! The plants are shaped like humans and animals, which looks so cute and whimsical. There are so many of these creative topiaries that I couldn’t stop admiring them. The garden was peaceful and not very crowded, making it easy to enjoy a relaxed stroll. In addition to the topiaries, there are lots of beautiful flowering plants. You can even have a picnic lunch in the shade and spend a lovely amount of time soaking in the scenery. A delightful spot for nature and garden lovers!

Visited while on vacation and this is an amazing park within the city. Located in an older part of city with very large beautiful homes. Parked across street in free parking area then walked into this small park. Some girls were having a birthday party going on with picnic baskets and all dressed up. Walked around the pond where a fisher man was fishing, a trio of rowers were rowing while sail boats were passing by. A gentleman wearing a top hat was sitting on the lawn, a couple were walking their monkey and dog, and a young women walking by in a beautiful large hat. They really did a great job on this quaint topiary park. A must see if ever in the area. Its free and always open.

I travel a lot an after a while it’s inevitable that things become familiar or repetitive. This is not the case here. I love the idea of turning a famous painting into a garden and it was fascinating to see and walk through the painting. Very creative and very well executed. This for me was one of the highlights of visiting Columbus just because of its uniqueness

One of my favorite places to bring visitors to in columbus. Park that not many seem to pay attention to but has a rich history and nearby establishments with rich history as well. This park features 3D replica of a very famous painting! How cool is that?! An old school for the blind is next door. And the downtown metro library is in walking distance. I love this place!

Beautiful! One word that can help describe the cleanliness, the organization, the decorations, the atmosphere and the vibe of being there for yourself. Such a great place to walk through and or just sit in for a moment of appreciation

A nice exhibit located in a pleasant park! The landscape is peaceful, well maintained, and easy to explore at a relaxing pace. The topiary designs are creative, detailed, and fun to wander through. A great little stop to enjoy art, take photos, and unwind outdoors!

Museums
The Columbus Museum of Art offers a diverse range of attractions, including permanent and traveling art collections, an American cafe, and a gift shop. The museum also features kid-friendly activities like the Open Studio and thought-provoking exhibits such as Queer/Modern showcasing works by early 20th-century LGBTQ+ artists. Located on The Ohio State University's campus, visitors can explore The Wex, a creative lab and contemporary art gallery hosting innovative exhibitions like Meditation Ocean.
This is a really special place and I wish I’d had more time. The merger of the original building with new wings - so common in American museums - is really well done. The interior atrium and outside spaces are striking counterpoints to the galleries. I loved learning more about Ohioan artists. Didn’t get to try to cafe. Needed 3 hours, minimum. Glad for my 55 minutes!

The Columbus Museum of Art is a nice spot to spend a relaxing afternoon, especially since admission is free on Sundays—which is a great bonus. There’s also free parking just across the street behind the building, which makes visiting super convenient. That said, I was slightly disappointed with the overall experience. While there were a few standout exhibits that really captured my attention, much of the artwork felt repetitive and lacked variety. I was hoping for a more diverse and engaging collection. Still, it’s worth checking out if you’re in the area—especially on a Sunday when it won’t cost you anything.

My friend and I had a wonderful time at the museum. Getting there was straightforward, we just happened to accidentally miss the entrance and go to the top. It's nicely laid out with a ton of space to explore! We finished one spot and thought we were nearly done, but there were 3 more sections left for us. I enjoyed the exhibits and learned a lot about Ohio history. The attendants were helpful and the map was straightforward. I do wish there was a better sign that upstairs is mostly empty. We thought we had more to explore and we were unfortunately unable to visit the gift shop because their wifi was gone. In all it's a fun experience that I recommend people check out if they have the time.

Beautiful building with so many awesome pieces of artwork. It has lovely garden and seating area with a restaurant serving some of the most delicious food I have ever had. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and are able to fill you in on the artists. We loved the Columbus Art museum and will definitely come visit again in the future. We got to celebrate Margaret M. Walter wings 10 year anniversary, maybe we will make it a point to go back for the 20th.

The Columbus Museum of Art is a space that surprises and soothes at the same time. Each gallery feels like a conversation between color, form, and emotion — from the bold pop-art numbers to the soft folds of sculptural pink, every piece invites you to pause and reflect. One work declared, “You can’t hurt me, ’cause storms can’t hurt the sky,” — a line that lingered long after I left, reminding me how art can turn pain into peace. The museum’s bright glass installation rises like a celebration of imagination, while smaller works — a violin surrounded by currency, a figure wrapped in crochet and childhood memories — speak quietly about identity, value, and memory. After exploring, I stopped by the museum café for a delicious latte, the perfect way to sit, reflect, and watch the light pour through the windows. It’s the kind of place that fills you — not just visually, but spiritually. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A must-visit in Columbus for anyone who loves art, design, or just a good cup of coffee in a beautiful space.

I didn't visit the bulk of the museum (yet), but we saw the Capbell Quartet perform a Halloween show with the Candlelight Symphony concert series & had a great time. I definitely intend to come back for a regular visit to see the rest of the museum, but this concert space was intimate & nice, staff was very friendly & we were pleasantly surprised that parking for this event was free. The quartet were incredibly talented & very personable as well.

A nice museum that isn’t too large to cover all in one visit. An array of work spanning different artistic periods. Mostly one of each of the artists you’d recognize (Hopper, Rockwell, the usual…) It wasn’t overly crowded either, which was nice. Enjoyed a specific exhibit: Ming Smith - August Moon, which was beautiful and a lovely nod to the words of August Wilson.

Very peaceful and overall design of the building is very beautiful. The A/C is set to a comfortable temperature as I glanced over the creations of master pieces created to take your mind to places where the eye can’t.
