Typhoon Texas Waterpark in Katy, Texas is a spacious and lively destination offering an array of attractions for visitors of all ages. From thrilling serpentine water slides to a relaxing lazy river for tubing, the park boasts numerous pools, wave pool, water playgrounds, and splash pads. Guests can also enjoy dining at the restaurants or sipping on drinks at the bar while soaking up the sun. The park hosts various events throughout the year including musical concerts.
Absolutely ADORABLE 🤩🥰 My daughter couldn't get enough of the water attractions right from the gate. She got scared about going through "the snake pit" by herself so, momma got into it and I LOVED IT so much that I went 3 times. I could have kept going but, I wanted to take in everything. I think, yeah, you can see everything in one day but you really need more than one day to experience everything. I saw men running under the water pouring down from the big bow like kids. It was beautiful. And ouch, I forgot to take a picture of the pizza itself but I got us a pizza (half pepperoni and half cheese) and it was so big and fluffy and cheesy, I heard people comment on it as they passed by. A brave man asked if I got extra for like cheese, for it to be that cheesy..I said nah. It was just that big, fluffy, cheesy and tasty so yeah, recommend. I loved today. So much. 5PM came too early. Also, shout out to the teens working through summer here. They were kind with questions and patient with directions. Got me a free mother's day entry. It is $37 for an adult I think. They search bags at the gate for food, and water as they aren't allowed. They sell those inside along with bikinis 👙 for everyone. Also there are enough floaters and life jackets even though the rush and mass of people may have you believing otherwise. Just patience.

Amazing Day at the Waterpark! We had an incredible time! The park was super clean, well-organized, and had something for everyone — from thrilling slides to relaxing lazy rivers. The staff was friendly and attentive, and there were plenty of lifeguards, which made us feel really safe. We loved the wave pool and the kids’ area was perfect. Food options were decent , a little bit expensive . The best option is to join as a member. You only pay once and can visit anytime without paying again.

Nice waterpark next to Katy Mills mall. no food allowed. they have lots of restaurants to choose from. I like how they have cabanas everywhere in each section. Bathrooms were clean and nicely tiles. Ok lazy river..lots of ridws. 2 kiddie sections. Lines were not too long at the major rides. Loves rhe vintage vehicles spread out over the property. A good amount of floaties. Waves pool by the stage area. Lots of cool features in this watee park.

I came to Typhoon Texas Waterpark in Katy few weeks ago. I really liked it and I wanted to go back. But I can't afford paying $40 again. I missed the final summer day last Monday for $20 admission. Oh well, until next year. I wish the lazy river was longer, tho.
Yelper M — Google review
We visited Typhoon Texas as part of our family vacation. We purchased Pogo Passes to help make the vacation planning easier. Highly recommend Typhoon Texas! My kids loved the shaved ice stand by the wave pool, unlimited drink refills with the souvenir cup, and all of the slides. My daughters were nervous to ride The Typhoon, but had a blast doing so!
Katie K — Google review
This was great fun but you need a full day to enjoy all slides and pools. The changing rooms were clean and pool areas clean. There are lockers available at $25 (ouch) but you can open and close it all day long.
Paul F — Google review
My grandkids and I have memberships they pay for themselves. My grandson birthday 🎂 Party was there in one of the cabanas the hostess was great. We had a great time.
Sherrie B — Google review
Really great water park and super convenient if you're on Houston's West side. The season pass is a great deal for a city with hot summers and not a lot of outdoor, kid friendly attractions when kids are out of school.

Cool place to shop. Several variations one can choose from. Also good for children because there are numerous playgrounds and kiddie stuff in the area.
Sorgz J — Google review
I love this place, so much fun and varied. I recommend it. Lots of shops with a variety of tastes and fun all in one place. It has two game rooms and a movie theater, too. It's perfect for having fun all day or buying gifts at great prices, as the stores always have great discounts.
María B — Google review
Visited Katy,Texas recently. Have had the opportunity to visit many malls, but Katy Mills was the most unique, one level mall we’ve ever encountered. First, it’s a climate controlled indoor shopping mall with a “racetrack design” that has a walking track that goes through the shopping and dining areas. We were then surprised to encounter Rainforest Café, Outdoor World and a Slick City Action Park. Has upscale stores like Steve Madden, Coach, Banana Republic, even a Bass Pro Shop and a Police Department Substation, 172 stores. The atmosphere felt safe, clean and friendly. If you ever have the chance to visit Katy with its many beautiful shopping venues, this is the one you’ll want to experience.
Aña W — Google review
Nice Mall It’s located near the intersection of I-10 West (or Katy Freeway) and Pin Oak Road. •   Approx ~25 miles west of downtown Houston Some of the major stores / outlet / anchor tenants include: •   Neiman Marcus Last Call •   Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th •   Marshalls •   Burlington Coat Factory •   Ross Dress for Less •   Numerous outlet / factory stores: Nike Factory Store, Michael Kors, Coach Outlet, Kate Spade, H&M, Fossil, Tommy Bahama, etc. •   AMC Katy Mills 20 (movie theater)
Paty C — Google review
I always go to this place, it's very beautiful and big, but on Halloween they asked my children and me to take off our masks, so we had to leave the place, I found it strange because we go there every Halloween.
Gerardo L — Google review
The people at the kiosks (not all but most) make it a horrible experience shopping in this mall. They get too close to force you to take a sample to the point of assault. I'm surprised the administration is not doing anything about it. I've also heard from the community and read many bad reviews about shoppers' cars broken into, is it even safe to be here? If you're looking for a peaceful and safe shopping experience avoid this place.
B R — Google review
It's a nice mall - all the brands are there and pretty decent food court. The problem is that every 100 feet you have to actively avoid the employees manning the kiosks - especially the perfume and beauty product ones. They are aggressive and just don't let up. I want to enjoy my time at a mall and not be approached by sales people every 5 minutes. Not going back.
Zain K — Google review
I’m shocked at how bad Katy Mills has gotten lately. The restrooms are absolutely disgusting, dirty floors, overflowing trash, and a smell that makes it clear they’re not being cleaned regularly. It’s honestly one of the worst parts of visiting now. The outside of the building isn’t any better, trash all around, and overflowing bins near the entrances. It gives off a neglected, run-down look before you even step inside. What’s even worse is the security. They never seem to be around until something serious happens. Instead of being proactive and visible to prevent issues, they only respond after there’s already a problem. It makes the whole place feel unsafe and poorly managed. Katy Mills used to be clean and family-friendly, but now it feels like no one cares about maintaining it. I really hope they bring in better management and staff who actually take pride in keeping the mall safe and clean again.

Wonderful park, friendly for people of all ages! The walking path is filled with wildlife! Ducks, birds, squirrels, and they will walk right up to you. The children’s park is great for little and big kids. They have a great picnic area equipped with many tables and some grills. Amazing park will definitely be back!

Amazing playground! So many fun activities for the kids. Very safe and handicap friendly! Plenty of spots to sit as well as have a picnic. There is a beautiful pavilion and easy access to bathrooms.
Meredith G — Google review
Lots of stuff to do here but we went for the fishing. Tons of vultures and ducks hanging out. Walking trail goes around the lake. There's free mini golf and pool activities for free. Play structure for the kids and plenty of parking! Go check it out!
Jamie B — Google review
This park was such an incredible location for Project 100 — my little community outreach adventure where I’m photographing 100 families before the end of 2025 (because moms deserve photos that don’t involve balancing a phone on a diaper bag). Getting the photography permit was a breeze — and you know that makes my heart happy. I’m very particular about permits (yes, I’m that mom), mostly because I like to respect the rules and protect my clients’ privacy. If the city ever gives out gold stars for following instructions, please tag me. We had the most beautiful event here this Sunday! I got to photograph 8 gorgeous families — hair flying, toddlers negotiating snacks, dads pretending they weren’t sweating — the usual. Each family gets 5 photos, and let me tell you… they are chef’s kiss. Now let’s talk about this location. LOOK at it. This park was showing off. Fun fact: you can actually fish here! (Don’t ask me what kind of fish — all I know is they live in the water and mind their business.) There’s also a long walking trail where you can stroll, speed-walk, or ride your bicycle like you’re in your fitness-era montage. The whole atmosphere is peaceful, joyful, and very “my kids finally fell asleep in the stroller” coded. 10/10 would photograph here again. Our next stop? John Paul Landing in Cypress — and I’m already bouncing with excitement. Project 100 is movingggg!
Miranda B — Google review
Great place for family fun even though there was duck poop all over the gazebo, thankfully there was a water hose there that we could use to clean up. There was a stubborn duck that didn't want to leave the top of wood grill which was funny. Nice scenery with the lake. Bring citronella candles for all of the flies if you plan on cooking.
J S — Google review
A great place to bring the family! The park features a beautiful lake with a scenic trail around it. There's a spacious play area with plenty of fun activities for kids, and it also has outdoor exercise equipment with bars for workouts.
Sujin C — Google review
Wonderful place to take a quiet walk and visit with some very friendly wildlife... many of the squirrels will befriend you and don't be surprised if some of them choose walk along with you...ducks too! Three of the ducks seems to have me imprinted ... they even meet me along the path for there daily snack! There are lots of seniors citizens and young families walking around and enjoying the park... MJP is excellent family oriented facility and the community could use a few more just like it.. nice, safe and well maintained. The park is a very nice place and a great example of what can happen when our tax dollars are put to good use.
William F — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mary Jo Park is an absolute gem! 🌳✨ So toddler-friendly with clean, safe play areas and awesome amenities that make it welcoming for everyone in the community. The walking trails are relaxing, the pond is beautiful — and the ducks are downright hilarious! 🦆 Be sure to spot the one with the stylish hairdo — total celebrity vibes! 😄 Perfect place for family time, picnics, and making memories. Highly recommend! ❤️

George Mitchell Preserve is a vast, wooded nature reserve that offers visitors a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking and biking along its well-maintained trails. The park features picturesque views of a lake and has an abundance of plant life that is clearly labeled for educational purposes. Although the park can get crowded at times, it remains popular among hikers and mountain bikers alike.
This is part of a nature conservancy. They have many miles of trails and access to popular swimming spots on the Creek. There is an app-- travelstorys that will narrate points of interest along some of the trails. The far Eastern portion of the Spring creek trail wasn't maintained the closer I got to I-45. It turned into a bushwack so I didn't gonall the way to I-45. Going West is all cleared and maintained trails for tens of miles if you are feeling up to it.
Steve J — Google review
Love the trails here. Been going here for about a year now pretty consistently and it’s close to my house and pretty convenient. The trails are nice and typically pretty well kept up with. Weekdays aren’t too busy during the day but the weekends gets pretty crowded there sometimes. Still a great walking/hiking trail though.
Darian G — Google review
Woodlands city so horrible . Why in the world construction going already 3 months? Lack of planning. Entrance to the park also developed a curb now. So it is difficult to enter without damaging low clearance car
Ari S — Google review
Great trails are very nature focused and not just super wide man-made paths. It's fun and adventurous, but make sure to bring plenty of bug spray
Roman S — Google review
We went during the week, and walked one loop. It is well marked and there are some plant markers. You are sharing the trail with bikes. The trail is soft sand and has many roots. It is beautiful in as natural setting as possible. There were no facilities where we were.
Madeline E — Google review
I love the trails!! Whether you go for a walk, hike, run, biking, you will LOVE it! Some are short trails, some are really long and a mixture of difficulty. There’s something for everyone.

Crighton Theatre

Performing arts theater
Concerts & Shows
Historic performing arts center & former Vaudeville stage now hosting several theater companies.
This a hidden jewel 💎 in Conroe. First visit for Beauty & Beast musical show due to my friend’s invite. It was a blast! My daughter told me the show was even better than Disney movie. Beautiful stage and costumes. The volunteer actors and actresses were pro. The historical theatre is also like a museum, you can see the exhibition and real pieces from 1930s. 5-Star experience. I hope more and more friends get chance to visit there and enjoy the shows.
Lei W — Google review
Stepping into the theater for a live performance of "Shakespeare in Love" was, quite honestly, a revelation. As a newcomer to the world of stage plays, I wasn't sure what to expect, but this production completely swept me away. From the moment the lights dimmed, I was utterly captivated by the witty script, the charming performances, and the sheer energy of the entire staff...
Serge P — Google review
Got to see donny Edwards. He was fantastic, as always. I found the seating way too close together. There was no room too move around at all. I didn't like that you couldn't even hardly walk in front of the stage. There should be more room in the front. Js otherwise, it was a great time. You DON'T WANT TO MISS DONNY'S SHOW!!!
Lisa K — Google review
Came here to watch a show for my Dad’s birthday. Came from out of town and loved the antique nature and history of the strip. Saw a Gentleman’s Guide to love and Murder and was really blown away by the local talent.
Joanna M — Google review
The nostalgia in this theatre is top notch. With recent updates and remodeling, the Crighton has become THE place for quality entertainment on the regular.
DigiSmiles P — Google review
Crighton Theater is awesome! Totally old school theater! Fly rails .. incandescent lighting .. it's only about 40 feet wide stage. Nice dressing rooms .. acoustics are really good! Can't wait to mix there again .. tomorrow!
Gary P — Google review
This is always going to be my favorite Conroe venue. I have been attending shows and productions here since the late 70"s, and now my daughter is active in the productions. Great place, great people, great atmosphere!!!! You really have to get tickets to a show and go experience the theatre in person to appreciate the history and architectural details. Words cannot convey!
Ann W — Google review
Beautiful, historic theater! Not a bad seat in the place. It was our first time visiting the theater and we watched Grease. The performance was excellent! We really enjoyed the evening. We will be getting tickets for future performances.

Sam Houston National Forest

National forest
Nature & Parks
Expansive, wooded recreation & wildlife area featuring hiking trails, hunting, campgrounds & more.
5-Star Review for Sam Houston National Forest, TX Sam Houston National Forest is a breathtaking haven for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts! From the moment you step foot in the park, you’re greeted by towering pines, peaceful trails, and a sense of serenity that’s hard to find elsewhere. The hiking and biking trails are the stars of the show, offering a variety of paths for all skill levels. The Lone Star Hiking Trail is a must-try — it’s well-maintained and provides stunning views of the forest and its wildlife. Whether you're out for a short hike or an all-day adventure, the trails have something for everyone. Camping here is a dream! The campgrounds are clean, spacious, and provide a perfect opportunity to disconnect and enjoy the great outdoors. The lake is another highlight, perfect for kayaking, fishing, or simply soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. The staff and park rangers are friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to assist or provide tips on how to make the most of your visit. Sam Houston National Forest is truly a treasure in Texas. It’s an ideal spot for hiking, camping, or just unwinding in nature. I can’t recommend it enough — it’s a 5-star experience through and through!
Nads007 — Google review
This is nice forest which is well maintained close to the Houston city. We did 15 miles of hike on Lone Tara trail, and we underestimated it. There were clear paths, and lots and lots of walking. Saw different kinds of snakes too. Overall a great experience for a Texas hike. I would definitely get mosquito repellent during monsoon season.
Kavitha K — Google review
Took off 3 days to glamp & hike a little at Sam Houston National Park. Beautiful weather, we truly lucked out. Being in the forest was so very sedative, peaceful and relaxing. With all that's going on in the world we have to slow down, create space, reflect on life, rest, breathe, pray, get clarity, enjoy the present moment, and process things. Then get back in there lol! Slowing down is not a luxury; it’s a necessity for mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Peace is found in the pause. 🕊✨️ Stay blessed not stressed 🤍🙏
Corey S — Google review
It is quiet and peaceful. Great trails that are relatively cleared and easy to navigate
Jennifer N — Google review
Great hicking. Just be sure to bring plenty of water and healthy stacks for a long hike along with Bug Repellent for ticks. This is nature at its best.
Edward — Google review
My husband has been going to SHNF every year since late 1980's during deer season, he introduced me to the forest in 2011 and been going every chance we get, we love the outdoors, have camped at Stubblefield, Overflow, Cagle and Kelly's Pond. Everything is great except for the roads that are getting worse. We went there Easter weekend, we almost have an accident on one of the roads, there was NOT a road close sign, there was only a green string which you can barely see in the picture. Luckily I was able to stop in time. There should be a ROAD CLOSED sign. The last picture shows the entrance to that area, the gate was opened and the road close was MIA. The road from 1375 to Stubblefield campground is destroyed it needs to be repaired/ patched up. Aside from a scarry driving experience, we definitely recommend SHNF for hunting, fishing, hiking, and motorcycles even though there should be no bikes or hikes near hunting areas during deer season. As hunters we have to wear orange, everyone else wears no distinctive colors making it difficult for hunters to identify hikers. Thank you all
Doris A — Google review
i take my dog here very often to explore and release energy and i love how tired out he gets!! I would be careful thought because sometimes other owners don’t leash their dogs so just be aware! and parking can be hard because i most often miss the road to turn into lol. overall i love this park it’s usually very clean and empty!
Santana E — Google review
Stubblefield Recreational Area in Sam Houston National Forest is a true gem! If you're looking to disconnect and immerse yourself in nature, this is the spot. The campsites are wonderfully private and surrounded by the beautiful piney woods. We loved the quiet atmosphere, perfect for relaxing by the campfire and enjoying the sounds of the forest. The access to the Lone Star Hiking Trail is a huge plus for hikers, and the lake offers great opportunities for fishing and non-motorized boating. The facilities (restrooms and hot showers) were clean and well-maintained. Highly recommend for a peaceful escape!

Jesshon or somenthing like that, a guy with a black turban in his head, he didn't wants to share his name correctly, was most disrespectful person i. The world, I got 18 items from the store and ask him personally to make sure that the clothes didn't have the security thing, I have to go 4 timesto the front door, because he didn't do his job...what a disrespectful experience..do not go to this place they treat you like they are making you a favor

I’m really disappointed and mad about this. We bought a purse as a gift from Armani, and we decided to return it back literally the other day, since we wanted to buy something more useful. And they told us it was not possible for us to return it back and we could only EXCHANGE it, we knew something was off, and decided to read returning policy by their website and it WAS possible to return it they just didn’t help us at all. A big no from me.

Nice outlet for best selection and best price From G-Line to real Georgia Armani clothing. You can get very good discount if you keep searching here . Products are like in new condition not like other stores where sells and returns and Mary go around. Good thing here is all sales are final and only exchanges up to 14 days .

Very unpleasant experience. I tried on jeans and wanted to wear them immediately. Treated me as a thief. I was not allowed to shop anymore and was forced to go to the cashier. One sale rep asked another one how many pairs of jeans I tried on. I understand this is some precious measure, but please try to do it in a different way and not in front of a customer.

7 Acre Wood

Children's amusement center
Water & Amusement Parks
Theme Parks
Fun-park offering old-fashioned attractions such as swings, putt putt, a petting zoo & pony rides.
This place was so much fun, the animals were so friendly , my 10 year old had a blast. It wasn't busy at all when we went midday on a sunday. The animals are so well taken care of. The young lady in the petting area really seemed like she enjoyed her job. Will most certainly be going back very soon!
Ashley T — Google review
Good, not great. The animals seem a little cramped in their spaces. We went on a weekday and there was a school visiting also. It was a little crowded and the kids were very aggressive - which is understandable because they are excited but they nearly trampled my 2 year old a few times. It would be nice if they tried to steer the school children to one attraction at a time and let families or small kids go somewhere a bit less crowded. Or they posted when they expected schools or camps so you could avoid those times. The place is maintained pretty well, some things are dated and broken though. My kids enjoyed this, but I'm not sure it would be on top of my list to revisit.

Our family had the most incredible experience at 7 Acre Wood Farms! We brought our two youngest children, ages six and four, and from the moment we arrived, it was pure joy and adventure. The place is absolutely filled with wonder—goats, tortoises, lambs, sheep, a sweet donkey—each animal was friendly, fun, and clearly so well loved and cared for. Our kids couldn’t get enough of petting and feeding them! But the fun didn’t stop with the animals. There were SO many exciting things for our children to play on and explore—the big toy, the awesome sand pit, scooter riding areas, putt-putt golf, swing sets, zip line, basketball area, giant chess board, and even a fun little train they could ride! It felt like a child’s dream playground mixed with a peaceful farm escape. Everything was clean, safe, and beautifully maintained. It was peaceful, yet full of laughter and life. The atmosphere is incredibly family-friendly, and the staff—oh my goodness—are some of the kindest, most loving people we’ve ever met. You can tell they truly care about the animals and the families who visit. Our kids had such an amazing time they didn’t want to leave—they literally tried to stay all day! We had to promise we’d come back just to get them in the car. We highly, HIGHLY recommend 7 Acre Wood Farms to anyone looking for a joyful, relaxing, memory-making day with your family. Whether you’re local or just visiting the area, this is a place your whole family will fall in love with. We sure did!

Such a fun day! Our Grandson enjoyed himself. Lots of places to play, interact with animals, and have good ol' fashioned fun. Pricing is reasonable too!

Great place for children birthday party. Petting Zoo, mini golf, lots to do and wide open spaces so kids and parents can have fun. Covered area with plenty of tables and seating. They have food and drinks available and I have to add. The young people were super cordial, friendly and very accommodating.

My wife and I took our infant and it was very family friendly. The petting/feeding portion of the animals was fun and the hay ride was pretty enjoyable. If your looking for a simple outing for your family this is a nice place. My only question is I was wondering where the other 93 acres and Pooh was.

5-Star!!! Looking at Membership!! We are absolutely blown away by our experience at 7 Acre Wood! As small business owners, we know what it's like to get unfair reviews—and honestly, we’re not sure what people could possibly complain about here. Everything was so well-maintained, from the grounds to the animal enclosures, and the entire place had a warm, welcoming feel. Every animal was friendly, approachable, and clearly used to kind human interaction. Our kids (6-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl) were able to pet and spend quality time with all of them—which is something you don’t get at most places. The putt-putt course was a fun bonus, and the playground looked brand new—better than what you'd see at most parks! We stayed for 5 full hours, and not once did the kids get bored. Even in 95-degree heat, there was plenty of shade and a nice breeze, making it very tolerable. The staff was amazing, and a young man named Cameron stood out—super friendly and helpful when we asked about the male tortoises (which were incredible to see up close). We also noticed multiple people working to keep everything clean and cared for the entire time we were there. On top of all that, the food prices were shockingly affordable, which made it even more enjoyable. We left grateful, refreshed, and already planning our next visit. This place is a hidden gem and a great example of how a small attraction can be run with excellence and heart.

There is so much for the kids to do. A lot of the activities or play areas are shaded. A nice breeze blows through the open areas. The animals are all so nice and my daughter had so much fun playing with and feeding them. You can bring a packed lunch or buy something there. They also have frozen drinks, cold water, and ice pops to cool off with. Their prices are very reasonable. Ice pops are just $0.50.

Oil Ranch in Hockley is a family-friendly destination with a variety of activities for visitors. The petting zoo allows guests to interact with farm animals and even hand milk Daisy the dairy cow. Additionally, there are hayrides to feed cattle, train and pony rides, and a Stockyard Maze for kids to explore.
What an awesome place with tons of amenities to have fun all day! We went to the Oil Ranch today 11/11/2022 for a field trip and it became a favorite really quick, will definitely go back. I'm told they have a great light display during Christmas so check them out for that! The price of your ticket includes all their fun activities such as duck races, horse rides, pumpkin patch, train ride, hay ride, barn and petting zoo and lots more! 😀 Everyone who worked there today was super sweet, very respectful, and very patient! I think I speak for my little family when I say we can't wait to go back!!! Thank you, Oil Ranch for a very memorable experience! ❤️

Great location, lots of fun activities, great environment. I'm only giving two stars because myself and my kids had fun until we got to the gate. They advertise free pumpkins and have a completely separate section for pumpkins available for purchase, but then at the gate add rules and stipulations as you leave. No signage stating only one free mini pumpkin per child- it is advertised "free pumpkins". My husband has had a divorce (his ex also attended), and we got a pumpkin for each child per household (5 total) and they would not let us leave the gate and proceeded to say it's only one pumpkin per child. Our children were standing right there as they informed the children that they could not have a pumpkin for both households. They refused to listen or budge, and then acted like we were being irrational or trying to steal miniature pumpkins. We were literally only grabbing two more than the original three. Just so that my husband and I could have some for our house, but they were absolutely unprofessional , apathetic, and unaccommodating. They were very rigid, cold, and unsympathetic. Especially considering that their advertising causes confusion. Like I said, great until we tried to leave the gate with our "free pumpkins".

Not 5, 10 stars to Oil Ranch. There are inner city children that should but might not get to ever experience a day at Oil Ranch. Three day old bunny rabbits only added to their great day.

Good old fashioned family fun!!! My Family and I loved this place! Other than being a little pricey it has activities to keep all members of the family busy for hours! The giant jumping pillow is our favorite part :) Train rides, petting zoo (little disappointing since it's just goats), Pumpkin patch, body swings, fishing pond, soccer field, hamster races, mini golf and much much more! Need all day to do it all

This has been our favorite place to visit with our children. We have came to Houston three times now. There are many things to do here and having over 50+ acres gives plenty of room for people walking around. Even though 6 buses worth of kids where here the day we where you hardly had to wait in line. There was plenty to do and areas for kids to just relax and play. The staff was very friendly and made you feel like their favorite customer. Really grateful we found this place during our last visit to Houston. It is not hard to drive to. Many activities such as pony rides, 2 petting zoos, milking the cow, bouncy area, 2 playgrounds, mining, train, hay ride, and small snack shop. There are also many small activities and play areas. Will be coming back.

This was the most amazing trip. We are going back ASAP! I have been in the fall but Christmas was so much better. My 2 year old loved riding the horses and petting the goats. She got to talk to Santa a lot. We made s’mores from the snack bar. Her favorite movie was playing. The people that work there love what they do abs are so nice to the kids!!!

Since moving back to Texas we were looking for a farm for our annual tradition. The Oil Ranch definitely met expectations! Horse rides, cow milking, hay ride, train ride, petting zoo and more! The kids even got to pick a pumpkin each to take with us!

We had our sons 3rd Birthday Part at Oil Ranch. It was one of the best parties we have ever thrown for the kids. They had the option of learning to milk a cow, horse back rides, bouncing on the pillow, fishing, feeding the cows, train rides, seeing the animals in the barns, picking a pumpkin and so much more. I highly recommend oil ranch if you need to entertain multiple ages. We had kids from 2 years to 16 years old.

Huntsville State Park is a sprawling outdoor oasis in East Texas, offering 2,000 acres of pine woods to explore. Visitors can enjoy guided horseback trail rides, camping, and hiking among the towering pine trees. The park features Lake Raven where one can try fishing for bass or catfish and paddle on tranquil waters. It's also known for its birding and wildlife watching opportunities.
One of the better state parks that we have been to. Decent trails, lots of water related stuff to do. The fishing is really good there if you can get past the weeds. The bathrooms are well maintained and also have nice hot showers, they even have some ADA accommodations.

I love stopping here to break up the drive back from Dallas to Houston. I had a lovely Lakeview picnic and an easy hike around the Prairie Branch loop trail. It was a warm day but most of the trail is shaded. I enjoyed listening to the birds, and the trails are well marked. You can see all the hard work they're putting in to maintain the trails. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit today.

Rented a cabin for a few days and enjoyed our time there. Didn't know we needed to buy a day pass since we rented a cabin. Passes are an additional $7 per day, per person. The cabin had electricity, AC and water outside a few feet away. It's enclosed and had curtained windows. There are screened in shelters with electricity, no AC, and water hook up. We opted for AC. Otherwise bare bones cabin. Picnic table and a grill outside. Burn ban prevented grilling unless you had propane. The trails are managed but some have trip hazards from the overgrown tree roots. There was some fishing (not much catching), boaters and canoers out there. The public restrooms & showers were okay not the best , but not the worst. They definitely need some reflective tape/paint on signs and parking blocks. It is extremely dark at night and driving around is dangerous. There are park hosts in each of the areas in case you need help or have questions. We will definitely go again and our experience this trip will help us be better prepared for the next one.

About an hour north of Houston, you'll find this gorgeous state park. We fished, we hiked, we thought about kayaking. We saw small alligators swimming innocently along the clear lake. They watched us fish at the fishing pier. There were a lot people the day we visited, lots of loud barking dogs, lots of kids racing around on their scooters & bikes unattended.

Amazing Experience at Huntsville State Park, Texas We visited Huntsville State Park three times, and each visit was truly memorable. 😍The park's relaxing atmosphere and natural beauty create the perfect setting for a getaway🏞🏕. One of the highlights was enjoying paddle boat rides⛵ on the peaceful lake, which was both fun and scenic. We also loved packing our own lunch and having a picnic right there in the lovely surroundings. The variety of outdoor activities we engaged in, including playing badminton, cricket, and hiking, made each visit exciting and full of adventure. Overall, Huntsville State Park offers a wonderful blend of relaxation and outdoor fun, and we cannot wait to visit again. It’s a perfect spot for families, friends, or anyone looking to connect with nature. Highly recommended! MY PERSONAL SUGGESTION IS THAT : Go there once in life❣

Great place to sit & enjoy nature with lots of trees for shade & to hang the hammocks & Just listen to the wind as it whispers through the pines, watch the sunlight glisten on the lake, & observe the birds & wildlife doing their thing. There are amazing hiking trails to emerse yourself in nature & explore the forest for all the hidden gems you'll discover for youself. Remember your water, trail mix, & comfy shoes & be free from the hustle & bustle of life for a while! One time when I popped in to eat a picknick lunch with my late dad after a dr appt, a squirrel came up to us & hug out with us while we ate our lunch & was a Very special moment that brought us rounds of giggles & lingering smiles as we watched the antics of this furry, comical new friend of ours!!!

I’m a regular customer here and I enjoy the beautiful selection of wonderful produce, fruits, nuts, dried fruit and snacks. The girls who work here are just as sweet as can be. Today I stopped in the beautiful flower shop. I had an event and needed some balloons filled. They took the most amazing care of me, the balloons looked fantastic, and we had the best laugh over the fact I was trying to transport them in my open Jeep. I helped getting all of them into trash bags, I looked like I was transporting a body, but I made it to my 3 destinations without issue. The boutique in the flower shop had some beautiful finds, I need to stop in there more often. Highly recommend this place, just a really cool place for interesting things.

So disappointed in the quality of produce. Much of what was on display today was covered in flies & had major spoilage. Peeled the corn i purchased - it was all dried out & withered. Clerk bagged places with corn & onions creating a bruised & ruined mess. Should've saved a 50 mile drive & went to the grocery store produce dept instead

Been here many times, always something new and the produce is fresh from the farm.

Coconut juice from Fresh coconut is sweet and tasty. For sure after you drink fresh coconut juice, you don’t want to drink readymade coconut juice. Cucumbers are also fresh and sweet, look like you pick from your backyard garden. Yellow watermelon is sweet and fresh. The price is not cheap as Walmart or Aldi however fun and encourages for local farmers, good to go there.

I highly recommend their flower arrangements. The lady (wish I knew her name) is highly experienced with flower arrangements and gives you actually what you want. They use the best quality of flowers at the best prices anywhere. The flower arrangements are absolutely gorgeous at half the price you pay other florist. If you don't live in Hempstead, worth the drive out.

People were pleasant. The wood in the pallets by the road are stacked neatly and look full. They must be "for show". Larger pallet is supposed to be just over a quarter cord. A cord is supposed to be 150-200 sticks. I counted as we unloaded at home.....110 sticks with about 20% of them rotten. A good bit of it had been dug out of the ground. Logs had just been tossed in with lots of void space. Very disappointed! Instead of driving 40 minutes one way, we might as well support the local side-of-road guy selling to support his family....where we can see what we're getting with no deception.

Polished boutique B&B on a 12-acre winery offering rolling vineyard views & a tasting room.
What a lovely Sunday affair they offer! Music and wine. Plenty of beautiful trees and this lovely patio that we got a table at. Tables were reasonable at 100 for 4 top. Wines from around the world and free scenery. Best is you can bring your own food. Lawn chair option is cheaper.

Had the pleasure of visiting Bernhardt winery this Saturday. The facility it self was beautiful and the outdoor area was my personal favorite. We did the $20 wine tasting and it was worth the money and more. We were guided through the tasting by Stephanie and she truly made the experience. She was very kind, extremely knowledgeable, and helped to curate the perfect experience. Anyone visiting should ask for Stephanie!!

It was such a great experience coming here! My wife and I came here looking for a fun wine tasting experience and we were met with that and so much more! The wine tasting here is curated and at first we weren't sure if that was good or bad, but really we left very happy! Alexis walked through their tasting menu, which is best served by a couple because there are 10 wines but you can choose 5, so we were able to taste 10 by each trying a different one. She even let us sample a couple that weren't on the tasting menu. After the tasting experience, we bought a bottle of wine with a charcuterie board and eventually an order of their sliders, and every last bite was delicious! We enjoyed sitting outside and listening to the live music and I really have nothing negative to say about this place! We'll definitely be back here in the future!!

I LOVED this winery and it is the absolute best in East Texas. This winery rivals the best in Hill Country but with better prices! Stunning views, live music, convenient to Houston/the Woodlands and EXCELLENT service. I did the weekend tasting with Joann and she was incredibly informative while also being very entertaining (she is also very well-traveled and has incredible stories if you ask her!). She had the perfect pour and was very hospitable. I did not know anyone going into the tasting as it was a mixed group and she created a fun atmosphere for all of us. I will definitely be returning and recommending to friends! I’m pleasantly surprised to have found a new go-to winery!

This place is awesome and beautiful! It's very large. They offer many different events besides just selling wine. I went to there a recent event where there was music being played a band was there you could take a class on how to make chocolate there was also drawings you had free tastings and this event put chocolate and wine pairings together so you might know more about what goes with what, and of course that was free samples! There's a beautiful fountain as well as outdoor and indoor seating. I would most definitely recommend!!

I highly recommend visiting the sanctuary. A very beautiful and peaceful facility. Andy was our tour gide. He is so friendly and knowledgeable of the history of the sanctuary and the story of each wolf. It was a very fun and pleasant experience. I love this place! I will be returning.

Very informative. There were about 10 wolves/wolf dogs. We enjoyed seeing them up close, learning about their distinguishing features, and their stories. My children are 4 and 8, they enjoyed it too. We purchased wolf toy stuffies at the gift shop (reasonable pricing) and they have been playing with them all week. I overhear them incorporating the things they taught us about the wolves.

We loved the wolf sanctuary! It's a beautiful and serene place. It was way bigger than we expected. I have to admit that I was mostly just tagging a long because my wife and kids wanted to go but in the end I had as much or more fun than anyone. Our tour guide Lauren was super awesome and kept her energy up for the whole tour. Clearly she loves what she does. She answered all our questions and was engaging our group the whole time. I highly recommend you check this place out. Its worth the drive. We'll be back!

Our family loved the tour; we got good information about the differences between wolves and dogs and each animal’s backstory and mated pair stories. Our kids were enthralled for two hours! We got to see a few of the wolves play and problem solve with their enrichment materials. It’s a good organization to support and worth the drive.

Everything about the Sanctuary was amazing - from the beautiful land to the majestic wolves and wolfdogs and our fabulous guide, Lauren. The only thing I'm disappointed about it is that I didn't realize I live less than an our away from a beautiful wolf sanctuary! We learned so much about the animals and all the work SFSW does for them, it was a truly unique and educational experience and I can't wait to take the rest of my family to see it.

The Sam Houston Memorial Museum is a campus-based site that showcases the 15-acre homestead of Sam Houston, featuring various historic buildings. Visitors can explore the serene complex and gain insight into early Texas life. The museum store offers souvenirs and gifts, while living history demonstrations are held on select days. The beautiful grounds provide ample shade from huge trees, a small lake with picnic tables, and wildlife like ducks and squirrels.
Very interesting museum. I've learned a lot about Sam Houston, his era and the whole area I've been living in for the past decade. They have special events on certain dates, so I would recommend checking their web/calendar if you want to see some dressed people and all kinds of activities related to the 19th century style of living.

Beautiful park-like grounds to walk around. A woodland path takes you from the education building (where you pay admission and can watch a 15 min. video about Sam Houston) to the historic buildings and duck pond. Ducks, chickens, and roosters roam the grounds. Would be a great place to take kids! The museum building houses lots of artifacts and history. The displays are arranged in a chronological fashion so you're walking through history, and they really expand on the information presented in the video. Enjoyed our visit and liked that we could explore in a leisurely manner.

A must see in Huntsville. The outdoor trail area is free, while the museum does charge for admission (free for SHSU students). The museum staff outside the cabins are very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. They also dress in costume! And the duck pond is adorable. Chicken and duck feed is $1 inside the museum shop.

Such a beautiful well kept up area. The trees and the water made the scenery gorgeous, and a couple buildings are the same from Houston's era which was really neat to see and go in old buildings. Great example of Texas history! Opened by an English immigrant, Henry Fanthorp, this hotel, tavern, store, stagecoach stop, and post office, served travelers and local community since 1830s. Today, this house museum is a wonderful place visit to learn about early days of Texas.

Fanthorp Inn State Historic Site is a must see if you are into visiting the State Parks and historic sites. The Fanthorp Inn is nestled in the south side of Anderson, Texas and there is so much history here about Henry Fanthrop and the home he built for his bride, Rachel as a wedding gift later to become the Fanthorp Inn. Just FYI, Fanthorp Inn is only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I highly recommend visiting this historic site soon.

We got to sit in the stagecoach and take lots of pictures. Looking into each room and seeing all the historic decorations, furniture was such an amazing sight. I appreciated the information we received and the little gift shop. We got our first stamp in the historic sites passport. Star of the Republic Museum

Museum
History Museums
Museum telling the story of the independent Republic of Texas, which existed 1836–1846.
Truly one of the best historical experiences of my life. I left another review on my experience at Washington on the Brazos Visitor Center page, so this review will be dedicated to the Star of the Republic Museum. If you come here you have to experience the entire grounds. The museum details the entire history of Texas with excellent information and presentations. I was heavily impressed by how state of the art this museum is. I soaked up so much information here and loved the entire two stories of history. This museum is perfect for all ages, seasoned historians, and anyone who wants to learn more about Texas History and life during the times. I highly recommend adding Star of the Republic Museum as well as Washington on the Brazos to everyone's bucket list of history.

Happy Birthday Texas 2023! We arrived at the park around 10:00 am so that we could see the parade. Parking was well organized and handicap parking was available. The weather was perfect for the outdoor event. Food trucks and craft vendors offered a variety of options. My main objective for this trip was to see and photograph the beautiful murals created by artist and native texan, Russell Cushman. According to some information I have received, it is very likely that the murals will be removed from the museum when the museum is upgraded in a future $34 million remodel. What a shame! If you have not seen the murals be sure to visit before the remodel begins. These murals were lovingly created by the artist, stroke by stroke, and beautifully reflect the Washington area of days gone by.

Every Texan should make the pilgrimage to the birthplace of the Republic. As with the US, the founding fathers of Texas put their lives on the line when they declared Independence from Mexico. And you can see where it all went down right here! A fantastic experience, a wonderful museum and a beautiful park. Highly recommended!

Great jewel to visit. So much significant Texas history. A must visit. The staff are super friendly and the tickets are dirt cheap. We will go definitely go back again.

Great place to learn some Texas history. The artifacts and displays here are of various varieties. This place is great for families and couples, there was even a school trip here when we went. The artwork is beautiful and the movie was interesting. Would recommend to friends!!

We've been here a few times and it's always fun. Seeing old stuff and how people used to do things back in the day. It's always funny when you read on how terrible their medical stuff was. There's tons of stuff to learn and see in the little museum! There's also a little scavenger hunt you can do which is a great thing for any age. There are bathrooms inside the building and you can also get a free postcard at the front and a stamp book for historical places in Texas. Again definitely a nice little calm outing for the family are just yourself.

Pleasant Hill Winery is a cozy and relaxed spot where you can embark on a wine-tasting adventure. The owner, an ex-engineer turned winemaker, offers technical insights into the winemaking process. Visitors rave about the unique experience of grape-stomping and getting their footprints printed on t-shirts. The winery also hosts events like grape-stamping, making it a great place for a fun day visit.
We had such a lovely time here. We didn't do a winery tour instead we just got a bottle and enjoyed the weather outside. The wine was very nice and we were able to walk among the flowers. It's a dog friendly place. Our dog enjoyed it there too!

Best experience for us. We visited this place when they had their grape stamping event going. We enjoyed that event where they offer you picking grapes and later stamping them. It was very new and unique experience for us. Surprisingly once to you are done stamping, you can have them printed on a t-shirts provided by them. It was really a great deal. We also got a chance to taste different types of wine. This a really a nice place to have a fun one day visit.

The people here are really friendly and the owner is an ex engineer turned wine maker that is able to talk about the process at a very technical level. It isn't that big of a place but it feels relaxed and the wine tasting is like a little adventure, moreso than at most wineries I have been to. They actually had a white port, something I never even considered would be brought into existence and after tasting it I wondered why I've never tasted it before. I am sure there are some wine snobs shaking their fist and rueing the day, but it was very tasty nevertheless. The most interesting part of the tasting is when they presented two of the same wines with the only difference being what they were aged in, either oak or stainless steel. The difference was amazing and we almost got into an argument over which was the superior aging media.

Nice vineyard, the view is great and the service is good. The con is they don’t sell food unless you buy a Groupon ticket and reserve one week ahead.

Small and cozy atmosphere. No reservation required, tour includes wine tasting/sampling. Opens at 11, tours at 1130, 1230, 1330, 1430 and 1530. Personal recommendation "Dessert/Porte wines". June & Aug are the harvesting months (If you're lucky you get to see the grapes being crushed. during this months), other months seems quiet. Staff are friendly.

Blue Bell Creameries, often hailed as the best ice cream in Texas, has a rich history dating back to 1907 when it started as the Brenham Creamery Company. The company's name was changed to Blue Bell after facing financial difficulties and began producing ice cream in 1930. Visitors can explore the company's history at the Blue Bell Creameries Visitor Center and take a self-guided tour of the ice cream-making process.
If you are an ice cream lover, this place is for you. It’s got an observatory deck. It’s got taste test. It’s got the history etc. the place is nice and clean. The crew is nice and friendly and then There’s ice cream. For $1 a scoop you can try flavors like coconut, mango, triple chocolate, cotton candy etc. there’s place for you to sit and enjoy. It’s a kids friendly space. Lots of new stuff for the kids to learn. And mostly to enjoy the ice cream. The scoops are decent size. Parking was easy available but it was packed. Definitely a good place for kids. Do check them out.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Blue Bell Creamery – Brenham, TX If heaven had a gift shop and smelled like fresh waffle cones, it would definitely be the Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham. 🍦 First off — the history tour? Cool doesn’t even begin to describe it. You walk through this old-school building that still feels like it could crank out milkshakes from the 1900s, and you can literally feel the nostalgia oozing out of the walls (along with the smell of sweet, sweet ice cream dreams). You get to learn how Blue Bell started as this small-town creamery, and somehow grew into the hero of every Texan’s freezer. Then there are the adorable little shops and the whole “Main Street in a Hallmark movie” vibe — it’s the kind of place where you expect someone to hand you a basket of wildflowers and say “y’all come back now.” But the real star of the show? The $1 SCOOPS. Yes, you read that right — a single dollar gets you a glorious scoop of the creamiest, dreamiest ice cream known to humankind. I almost asked if they made a mistake, but then I realized it’s just small-town Texas magic at work. Pro tip: don’t stop at one. Your diet can start tomorrow. All in all, Blue Bell Creamery isn’t just a tour — it’s a vibe. It’s part nostalgia trip, part sugar high, and 100% worth the drive. If joy had a flavor, it would taste like Homemade Vanilla served in a waffle cone for a buck. 💙🍨

Blue Bell Creameries is a delightful destination for those seeking a unique and interesting place to visit. The site includes a visitor center that tells the story of the company's origins, showcasing artifacts from the past like a punch clock and a refrigeration machine. Visitors can also observe the ice cream production line through a viewing area, shop at the gift store, and enjoy tasting and buying various single-scoop ice cream flavors at the parlor. It was a great experience for us to discover more about the company while enjoying some tasty ice cream.

This was a nice stop to stretch your legs at. My son found out this was on our way to Houston, and he said we had to go. We enjoyed watching them make the ice cream. Well, we enjoyed eating it even more. $1 a scoop was a great deal. I tried the coconut. I do not think they sell it in the stores. It was SO GOOD. If you are an ice cream lover, this is the place for you!
Jana H — Google review
First off, let me say how amazing this ice cream was! It was only a dollar per scoop. It was so creamy and the flavors were perfect. I had the blackberry cobbler. 10 out of 10 recommend. The butter pecan was really good too. You can tell this building has been around for a long time. You can feel the history there. It was a cute little day outing. They had a lot of teenagers serving the ice cream and they were very pleasant. Unfortunately, we came on the weekend so we didn't get to do the tour or see the factory side of it. I enjoyed learning about the history. I did not know it was a butter company before. There was plenty of free parking and a lot of seating.

I took my family to visit the bluebell creamery on a hot date. What a beautiful surprise I feel like this place is a hidden gem! We were thrilled and so impressed with all the history this company holds. We learned so much about the process and transformation. Watching the process in front our eyes from the observation deck was one of the best parts of our experience. But, the one dollar ice cream was also a highlight of the trip! Make sure to visit the gift shop for the unique takeaways! We will try to make this a yearly trip for our family as it was a memory we will cherish!
Sade R — Google review
Even if you don’t care to see the factory, come for the ice cream! $1 scoops… I didn’t know any place like this still existed. The ice cream is very good. The service is great. The prices are unbeatable. There are some great displays and very interesting history.
Derrel H — Google review
Best deal ever — one dollar per scoop! Yep, you read that right… $1. And not those tiny scoops — these are massive, super generous, and packed with flavor. 🍦 and there’s a no added sugar vanilla option I loved! They’ve got unique flavors you won’t find anywhere else, and the best part? You can sample them all before deciding. Spoiler: you’ll want them all. It’s hidden on the second floor, but trust me — once you find it, you’ll be hooked. Absolute gem. 11/10, highly recommended! 🙌✨

My whole family went. A total of 9 of us. For our first time doing a family trip it was nice but would I be back? Honestly no. The lines are entirely to long and if you truly waited for them all you would never even get through the whole park let alone half the park within the time frame they are open. It is WAY overcrowded. We end buying the speed passes for the kids because they would have never gotten on anything if they didn’t. The lights are beautiful and we bought funnel cakes but kept it all minimal due to prices on everything. For the amount spent just to go and actually ride I think it is all a bit much. We don’t have a desire to go back.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Santa’s Wonderland in College Station is pure Christmas magic. From the moment you arrive, you’re transported into a festive wonderland filled with twinkling lights, cheerful music, and holiday cheer everywhere you look. The light displays are absolutely stunning and stretch farther than you can imagine, making the hayride a must do experience. Every corner has something fun for the entire family to enjoy. Kids light up seeing Santa, playing in the snow, and experiencing all the attractions made just for them. The shops, food, and live music give it that perfect Texas holiday twist that makes the night feel even more special. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is joyful, and it truly feels like a place where memories are made. If you’re looking to kick off the Christmas season in a big way, Santa’s Wonderland is the place to be. We can’t wait to go back year after year! 🎄✨

Pretty crowded but worth it. Must try the hay ride and tubing ride. They had a snow playground for free and the kids loved it. The funnel cake tasted excellent. Live music in front of the campfire was relaxing and interesting for the kids. For the Parking ticket buy ahead but you might need to walk a bit to enter the event. Staff guided us to get a spot to park. Friendly customer service kudos to their work.

Came for opening weekend for free veterans and military. We appreciated the free entry. First time to attend and would recommend even if you don’t have children. My husband and i walked around enjoying the scenery, train ride and hay ride. We spent longer than what we would. Wear comfortable walking shoes and check weather for a light jacket, it became nippy at 11pm.

This is our third year coming in a row and it’s our favorite thing! My teenage daughter and I look forward to it! Going on thanksgiving is great for us as it’s not as crowded. We buy the fast pass every year and it saves so much time. It’s totally worth it! Lights are always wonderful, snow ball fights, ice skating and the workers are always so pleasant. . Like we were lost one year and asked someone for help and he didn’t just point to the direction, he walked us over himself. We were so grateful. Only minor complaint I have from this year was the pictures you can buy on the snowball are taken just a few seconds too early.. when you buy the print they frame it but the pictures aren’t within the frame. So you pay 16$ for a picture that just looks really odd. But a small thing in comparison to all the good.
Alisa M — Google review
As a mom of a busy toddler, I can't say enough about our magical experience at Santa's Wonderland, a Christmas light-themed park! From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had stepped into a winter wonderland. The twinkling lights were absolutely stunning, and my little one was mesmerized by all the colors and displays. The hayride was a huge hit! (Be prepared to be in line for about an hour if you go within the first two hours of arrival from opening). My toddler loved bouncing along while spotting reindeer and Christmas characters hidden in the light displays. The cheerful holiday music playing along the way added an extra festive touch that kept us both smiling. In total, it was about a 20 minute ride. The snow hills were absolute toddler paradise! My little one giggled endlessly--the hill size was just right for her to feel adventurous but still safe. I loved how they had smaller hills for younger kids—it made the experience so inclusive. While the ice skating rink looked like a lot of fun, my toddler was just a bit too small for it. But honestly, we didn’t feel like we missed out because there was so much else to do. We ended the evening near the bonfire, watching the band, which was the perfect way to wind down with some cocoa and coffee. This was the kind of experience that creates lasting memories for families, and I can’t wait to go back next year when my toddler’s big enough to try ice skating! Highly recommend this for anyone with young kids looking for a magical holiday outing.

This place is beautiful. Most staff is friendly and welcoming plus place is very well kept. However, the food here, is priced pretty good like every other festival type of place. But not good for the price. We ordered a burger at one of their burger spots. The meat was the only warm thing and barely. Cheese wasn’t even melted bun was stiff and cold. Not good. The bbq spot, food is good. Not delicious but not bad. Another thing, the cold is understandable, you’re out in the woods temperature is obviously going to be lower than Houston (where we are from) but for the price, some heaters on the pathways or some more lit fires around would make it more comfortable for people especially the little ones. Is it really just one hay ride? The lines are flat out outrageous.

Kyle Field, located on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station, is a must-visit for any Aggie fan. This historic football stadium, completed in 1927 with a capacity of over 100,000 spectators, is one of the largest in the United States. On game days, it's an electric atmosphere as fans gather to tailgate and cheer on the Texas A&M Aggies.
First time being there in Texas A&M & i was very impressed on how big and huge Kyle Field after its renovation remodeling from the old one that they had 13 years ago. It looks and it feels brand new especially the architecture of the design for this football field, especially, it brings a passion. Enjoy for the Aggies fans, during game day.

Checked an Aggie game off my bucket list and it didn’t disappoint! Great energy at the stadium and there’s no bad seating. Tons of food trucks outside and plenty of places to grab a drink

Incredible experience! The crowd, the band, the cheers and chants, the traditions - loved every second of our experience at Kyle Field. Can't wait to come back!

Kyle Field, located in College Station, Texas, is one of the most iconic and electrifying stadiums in college football. Home to the Texas A&M Aggies, it boasts a capacity of over 100,000 fans, making it one of the largest stadiums in the country. The atmosphere is unmatched—when the “12th Man” stands and the crowd sways during the Aggie War Hymn, the energy is something every football fan should experience at least once. The facilities are modern and impressive, with great views from nearly every seat, and the game-day traditions create a sense of pride and community that’s truly special. Whether you’re an Aggie or just a visitor, Kyle Field delivers an unforgettable experience filled with spirit, passion, and Texas pride.
Les C — Google review
So, Kyle Field looked a little different back when I went to school at A&M. Ever since we joined the SEC our stadium and campus started getting major renovations and facelifts. While the old stadium will always hold a special place in my heart, the new one is state of the art, and is certainly makes for a more enjoyable game day experience With a capacity of just under 105k, there is plenty of room for excited fans to come and watch a game. There all isn’t a bad seat in the house Some of the amenities include dozens of restrooms, AC in inclosed areas, WiFi, elevators, escalators, and concessions. Theres suites and club level, alumni vs student sections While the food and drink are slightly overpriced in my opinion, it’s still nice that it’s offered and with plenty of variety. There’s burgers, wraps, candy, hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, pizza, cotton candy, and so much more. There isn’t a crazy amount of shade in the stadium and the games can get hot so make sure you hydrate. There’s plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available Some tips: Definitely stay seated for the Texas Aggie Band performance at halftime. This is a one of a kind experience. If you don’t know what people are shouting during the game or some other quirky traditions, just ask your neighbor and they’ll be more than happy to indoctrinate you Parking can be tricky on game day. On campus parking garages fill up, and nearby street parking is limited. I would consider using a ride share if you don’t have a parking pass. It’s also worth noting that A&M has a clear bag policy for your own safety. You can bring in a water bottle of your choosing as long as the seal has not been broken Tailgating a game is just a fun as going to the game. All around the Southwest part of campus will have hundreds of tailgating setups. There’s often vendors out and about offering freebies and games. Also, after the game (or before), consider walking over to Northgate for a drink or two Cheers!

First timer and had a great experience. We shuttled from the Oak Mall and it was about a 15 minutes ride. All lines went fast. We had 400 level seats under the awning, but it was still a great view out of the sun. Food prices are cray. Eat before you go.

Absolutely incredible experience at Kyle Field! The energy is unmatched, you can truly feel the pride and tradition of Texas A&M everywhere. The “12th Man” spirit gives you goosebumps, and the crowd involvement is unlike any other stadium. The facility is clean, modern, and beautifully designed, with great views from nearly every seat. Parking can get hectic on game days, but it’s all worth it once you’re inside. Definitely a must-visit for any college football fan!

The George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, located on the campus of a prestigious Texas university, is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the 41st president. The museum features numerous exhibits showcasing artifacts from his life and political career, including a replica of the White House press room and items such as a World War II Avenger Torpedo Bomber and a 1947 Studebaker.
Modern museum of George H.W. Bush heritage. Great mixture of interactive presentations and informative stands. Right amount of information to get insides of his life and work without being overwhelmed. Friendly staff and easy navigation. We’ve spent 4 hours exploring it. Don’t forget visiting the new pavilion with marine one and 4141 locomotive and Bush’s graveyard.

Great experience visiting this library. My wife and I have been to several presidential libraries and what stands out to me is less the touting of achievements of this president but the sharing of American values. On another note plenty of seating around the library and video interactive things to keep your attention. I would 100% recommend.

It was not busy at all on a weekday. Great museum (intro video is very powerful) about the life of George H.W. Bush and the historical events throughout his decades-long career. Compared to the current administration, it was a timely reminder of what servant leadership, selflessness, and humility - not without its flaws - can look like. The exhibits on the Cold War and Kuwait are very informative. Marine One is also neat!

Our stay at the B&B was outstanding! The room Was romantic and roomy with a lovely bathtub for 2❤️! The breakfast was so delicious both days. It was so quiet at all times that we felt as though we were only ones there but not so. The restaurant was so adorable but the food to die for! Both evening meals were amazing! The chef prepared such great meals and beautiful to look at as well. Our waitress both nights was ASHLYN and she was so sweet and made our evening so pleasurable! Ask for her if you go there! We met an amazing young man at The Tasting Room named GABRIEL and he was very kind and informative! Went there for lunch, wine is good, but the food is bad!! Service was so so. My sister has a 6-year-old that she brought with her and she asked the server if they had a hamburger on the child's menu he said I can get you one. He ended up charging her $24 for a child's hamburger that was just a hamburger patty and some fries and didn't say a word about it until he brought the check. When she questioned him he gave her a very sarcastic answer. The scenery there is not even that cute the one in Grapevine is way better!!

Apologies. These pictures are weak. Having only been twice it may vary seasonally … and for whatever reason, pictures really aren’t doing it justice, but the color change in the fields by the water is pretty marvelous. This is an excellent stop over if you want to get a pick up the pace ride in because the footing is fantastic. There are overnight pens for rent available with easy access to the Trail Head as well.

Lake Somerville State Park, located between Houston and Austin, Texas, offers a diverse range of outdoor activities for nature enthusiasts. The park features two main units—Birch Creek and Nails Creek—connected by the 13-mile Lake Somerville Trailway, ideal for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Visitors can enjoy fishing, boating, paddling, and swimming in the expansive Lake Somerville. With over 40 miles of trails and abundant wildlife, including over 200 bird species, the park is a haven for outdoor recreation.

Nice state park. Some nice trails and beautiful views. The fishing spot we tried was inaccessible but besides that great place. Nice gift shop as well

We decided to do a last-minute camping trip, and Lake Somerville was one of the few places that had campsites available. We'd never been there, and it was relatively close. I'm so glad we got to experience Lake Somerville! It's such a beautiful place with a beautiful lake and great hiking trails! The bathrooms were very clean, and the park was well kept overall. They also have some bald eagles that live nearby, so you may even be lucky enough to spot one! This park is so nice and I look forward to returning for another camping trip.

This state park is in my top three. It's clean and well kept. The sites are nice and big and accommodating for all types of camping. They are paved and pretty level. They are raised a bit, so there's a step down/up or sloped at the end. There are plenty of sites to choose from and extra parking available. Bring your toys, boats, bikes, jet skis, fishing poles, and the kids and dogs. Nice atmosphere. Clean restroom/shower combos. Fire pits and picnic tables. The lake is huge and beautiful. A very peaceful and serene view. The trees are bare at this time we're here, but when they're leafed out, there's plenty of nice shade, I'm sure. We'll be back, no doubt!

Franklin Drive Thru Safari

Wildlife and safari park
Zoos & Aquariums
Zoos
Various animals can be viewed from your car or touched at the petting zoo, plus snacks & gifts.
We really enjoyed this! The animals seemed cared for, there's a wide variety and they all seem appropriate for the Texas climate. There's plenty of property to drive through, good experience for the price. Definitely get one bucket of food per kid. There's picnic tables and a playground, so if you make the trek out there you can also do lunch. Well worth the visit!
Keith S — Google review
For starters, we came on a weekday in the morning. The animals were very interactive and vast in variety. Highly recommend getting 2 cups of animal feed to get that UP CLOSE interaction. It will get messy quickly. Drive thru was 30 minutes long non-stop and can drive thru multiple times to be sure to see EVERYTHING! Super fun and exciting for all ages.
Edgard S — Google review
Highly recommend if you’re looking for some where local. The drive was 1hr 30mins for us which isn’t bad if you have children. The prices were very affordable and we went during the week so there was no crowd. The staff was friendly and the bathrooms were extremely neat and clean. They had a variety of different kinds of animals and my son enjoyed feeding the giraffes.
Capreshia D — Google review
Had a great time renting a cabin, seeing the lemurs, and swimming in the lazy river. Every activity is worth the money and more! If I could give more stars I would. Staff is extremely friendly and the animals are definitely well taken care of. Will 100% be coming back with my friends and families pretty often.
Abby B — Google review
We had plans for 2 small families to stay 2 days at the rental cabin, a total of 5 people. Unfortunately, one family was unable to make it, so it was just my 12-year-old son and I that stayed. The overall experience was ok. The owner/staff were friendly enough, and there were no issues there. Cabin: Not located at the safari, you have to drive over to their property, friendly pup on the grounds, but the cabin most definitely could have been cleaned better. It's fully stocked, but I'm thankful we brought our own bedding and essential needs. Several toiletries left in the bathroom were used. The mismatched assortment led me to believe they were possibly left by previous guests. We did drive to town to purchase our own towels and disposal pans/cups/plates, etc. I spent the first couple of hours cleaning and sanitizing the cabin. There's free wifi and a roku TV. I was able to complete some work from my laptop, and my son and I watched some movies using my fireTV stick that we plugged into the provided television. It's a quiet location and quite peaceful with a nice view of the property. There were some horses and other animals in a fenced off area that you could view from the porch of the cabin. Renting the cabin on gives you half off the entrance fee to the safari. No additional discounts are offered. Safari: We paid per person for the drive thru and also walked around to feed the giraffes and tortoises. I'm not sure if they offer a per vehicle drive thru only option. We went through early so a lot of the animals did not seem very hungry, not many approached the vehicle, could be they are used to eating later in the day but we went through with 2 buckets of feed and about half a bucket left at the end. Feed is $5/bucket. We had the best time feeding the giraffes and tortoises. They were definitely ready to eat. They do offer several other experiences, but all are at an additional cost like the baby room encounter is $50/person, Lemur Island $30/person. The prices are a bit steep when you add in the cost of cabin rental. They offer no discount on these encounters as a perk of renting the cabin, so we opted to skip them. I was also surprised to learn they have a little water park. Again, the overall experience was peaceful. We gone through other drive thrus where the animals are super aggressive and practically climbing in your vehicle, so this was a nice change. Overall: A decent experience. If we did return, we would probably try to do some of the other hands-on experiences offered but not likely to stay in the cabins again.
Roslyn N — Google review
What can I say that others already haven't. We went on Saturday morning in July and there was no line and maybe only 5 other vehicles in the park.Very friendly animals that will come right up to your vehicle so you can feed them by hand and pet them. Don't be afraid and just throw the food on the ground. The ostriches and camels are kind of aggressive and they won't take no for answer. Bring some towels and wet naps as there will be drool if hand feeding. The prices are decent for the experience and takes about an hour to do the drive thru if you stop to interact with the wide variety of animals. You aren't limited to one trip around the park. You can literally drive around as many times as you like. We did it 3 times. The only criticism I have is not knowing exactly what some of the animals are in the drive thru portion. Overall a great time and lots of laughs if you let go and have fun!
Henry C — Google review
Overall, definitely an experience worth having and cheaper than other places. So I've been to Natural Bridge safari in 2017, and compared to that one, Franklin's is definitely a better deal. Though there was less variety in animals, they make up for it in surplus, making the park feel fuller, especially since once the animals have eaten their fill, they're less interested in guests. So theres plenty to go around! This park also has more watering holes for them than NaturalBridge, which is great since the heat is crazy out here. The watering holes are deep too! We saw a couple of water buffalo chillin' neck deep in the water 😂 there was also a cute lemur island. The gift shop was well-themed, very safari/swampy looking w/ several turtle tanks. There's a reptile also, a few bird enclosures, tortoises & several albino species. My favorite animals to see were the otters & the REINDEER!!! 🤯 I'd never seen one in person before, so that was definitely a rare experience for me. And the otters were super cuuuuuteeeeee! 😍😍😍 I only wish the enclosures for the anteaters & otters had better viewing platforms; not sure why they were so hidden or inaccessible. And of course, you can drive around as many times as you want, so overall worthwhile experience! 😊
Panda — Google review
The family had a great time feeding the animals. We didn't have time to feed the giraffes, but all the other animals loved us feeding them from our vehicles. Just make sure you don't bring a car you aren't willing to get dirty inside and out. The wind was pretty strong and blew dirt and dust into the car.

Old Fort Parker Historic Site

It's such a nice piece of history still standing. Not many stockade forts are still standing. Of course the stockade forts are so much fun to explore.
Cleveland P — Google review
We attend a family reunion here every spring, and we thoroughly enjoy⁷ it. Some stay in the barracks there, some stay in RVs, and some stay in the little house on the premises. All of the structures there are historical in some fashion, including the old Fort. It's a beautiful place . I recommend it for a day or a weekend. There are water and electric hook up's, but no sewer or dump station for RV's. Full bathrooms are available, and there is a kitchen in one of the barracks.

Absolutely a worthwhile experience visiting his restored fort from which Cynthia Ann Parker was abducted at age 9. Liz ( Birdwoman) was a great docent.
Sheryl P — Google review
OLD FORT PARKER The stockade-blockhouse fortress that you see here today is a replica of the original fort built in 1834 by eight or nine Illinois families who had come to the Mexican state of Texas in 1832 and 1833. This structure, architecturally, is typical of the forts' built by Anglo-American pioneers in the eastern United States during the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. In this part of Texas, which was then a wilderness, the fort with its log cabins located inside the walls offered security to the families who worked their fields located just outside the fort. On May 19, 1836, shortly after three of the men left to work in the fields, a band of about five hundred Comanche and Kiowa Indians attacked the fort. Benjamin Parker was the first to be killed as he approached the band in a gesture of friendship, and four more men were killed as they at-tempted to defend women and children. One woman managed to leave the fort and warn the men working in the fields, who in turn alerted four neighbors. The Indians rode away at the approach of armed men. Fearing the Indians would return, the men hid the small groups. of survivors in a creek bottom. The next morning, equipped with horses and provisions from the fort, the group of survivors, unknown to the first, started for Fort blouston on foot the day of the attack. Led by James Parker, they arrived six days later. 4 Two women and three children were captured in the attack. All but two were ransomed within a relatively short time. John Parker, 6, and Cynthia Ann, 9 both children of Silas Parker-lived with separate Comanche bands. John is said to have become a Comanche warrior, married a Mexican captive, and then settled on a ranch in Mexico. Cynthia Ann, resisting ransom offers several times, married a Comanche chief, Peta Nacorna. She was recaptured with her daughter at the Battle of Pease River in 1860 but could not readjust to the ways of her white kin. She died in 1864. A son, Quanah, later became one of the great Comanche chiefs of Texas.

I visited it during off season(January). Amazing fort with replica buildings and period correct artifacts. During tourist season they have reenactment programs that would be very interesting and would have earned 5 star rating. Check their website for dates. It was still worth the drive, just make sure you access the fort via hwy 14(NE entrance)

Great place to visit!!! I started reading Empire of the Summer Moon and was very curious to see the Parker Fort. My kids loved walking through the fort/houses and the watchtower! The admission is reasonable, however CASH only. The man said they were working on a card system and hoped it would be up and running in a few weeks. The grounds are beautiful! The people who run it are very nice! There are NO ' not touching' signs in the gift shop but the people will let you know not to touch anything if you do. Would recommend visiting in the spring/fall/winter. Watch for poison ivy out front of the entrance and out back through the low gate of the fort. We will definitely be visiting again when the weather cools a little.

Fort Parker State Park

Lakeside park offering campsites & indoor shelters, plus fishing, swimming, hiking trails & more.
🌳 A Beautiful and Family-Friendly Getaway at Fort Parker State Park 🌳 We had such a great family weekend at Fort Parker State Park! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel completely welcome — super friendly and helpful, which really set the tone for our stay. We were lucky to stay in Shelter 8, and it couldn’t have been a better spot. Clean, comfortable, and just a short walk to some absolutely stunning lake views. Seriously, waking up and seeing that calm, scenic water in the morning made the whole trip feel extra peaceful. It’s the kind of view you can just sit and stare at for hours. The park itself was beautiful — lots of open space, quiet trails, and plenty of spots for the kids (and adults) to explore. We spent our days hiking, fishing, and just soaking in nature. It’s the perfect place for a low-key, family-friendly camping trip where you can truly relax and unplug. The only downside? There’s just one shower for the whole campground. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but it’s good to plan ahead if you’re visiting during a busy weekend. Overall, Fort Parker State Park gave us everything we were hoping for — gorgeous views, friendly people, and a lot of great family memories. We can’t wait to come back!

A beautiful campground! Be sure to drive down to the kayaking/fishing/primitive camp area on the far side of the lake to the Navasota River. Stunning! Beautiful sunsets over the lake. Frog chorus at night. White and great blue herons in abundance on the lake. We stayed here 3 nights in late-August, very few others camping.

We are doing the great State Park challenge! So far, we have visited 4 out of 89- and Fort Parker was top tier as far as trails, history and water recreation goes. So many great adventures await you at this non assuming, small town State Park. Highly recommend planning a day or even a weekend and going! 🏞🥾🐟🕊

Beautiful sites right on the lake. Was perfect for my 22 foot RV. However, any longer and I feel it would be very difficult to navigate in and out of RV area. (Though it can be done) There is only one road that leads down to a turn around that feels pretty tight. Water and electrical hook ups are available. Very peaceful area to get away and close enough to town to get food and supplies if needed. Good shade provided by the trees. Seems to be well maintained when I was there as far as mowed grass area. Some of picnic tables provided need to be updated due to appearing to be falling apart. Play ground for the kids is within a short walk from sites. Definitely recommend.

First State park that I have been to that the staff checking me in was not nice. Park showers need a LOT of work. No shower heads and extreme pressure takes off your first layer of skin. Trees are nice. Not many trails.

Hidden Gem!!!! Fort Parker State Park is a nice and quiet park. I was there for an hour and I’m convinced that I am going back asap. The fish seemed to jump out of the water for catching. A must see.

I’ve been out to the new location for this winery several times now. It is quiet and comfortable and perfect for me and a friend to just sit and enjoy some wine. Also great for groups as they have more seating in the back of the large building! The owner, Crystal was so friendly and very helpful and knowledgeable. There were even baby sheep out next to the building! So pretty out there, especially around sunset.

New location but same awesome wines. They moved to the vineyard for their wine venue! Not close but worth the drive. The wine club dinners are same as 5 star restaurant! Customer service is fast and friendly! Owners are such friendly people! It’s a must go and see location!

My boyfriend and I stopped here on a whim while traveling back from Dallas, and this is a gorgeous 3 part venue with a wine area, a lounge area and a dining area. Found this winery during a road trip!! I said winery but in fact it’s more than that. It’s also a live concert venue, an artist sanctuary and former early 20th century bank remodeled into a winery. The service was awesome, I was so welcomed by the sommelier Rachel! My favorite was the Merlot!! Highly recommended!!
Scott T — Google review
Let me start by saying this is not an expert opinion. In regards to visiting vineyards in the local area this i would have to say this is one vineyard you can overlook. I bought the bottle that is pictured and I knew somthing was not going to be good the second I started uncorking it as the the cork started to Crack and about 1/3 of the way the cork started spinning as the cork did not have a good seal to the bottle. Once uncorked you can tell the bottle has been kept in the upright postion since 2018 as the bottom of the cork had no discoloration to it. Now to the wine itself, the first smell was a reminder of nail polish remover and unfortunately the taste was not far behind that. I love the local wines and try to support them and I really wanted to like Kissing Tree. Maybe it was this batch and maybe there other wines are better. Unfortunately for $29 I feel robbed.

The Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum is a delightful destination for families and individuals alike, offering an engaging glimpse into the world of railroads. While it may be compact, this museum is thoughtfully organized with a variety of fascinating artifacts and exhibits that cater to both young children and adults. Visitors can explore interactive displays, climb aboard train cars including an engine and caboose, and enjoy outdoor views of an active rail yard. The museum also hosts monthly family days filled with fun activities like crafts and astronomy for kids.
Very nice museum with plenty of railroad artifacts inside. You can go on, in, and through some actual trains, caboose, and passenger cars. My family enjoyed it. It's next to a busy train yard to watch them slowly go by.

Fun family oriented museum. Scavenger hunt. Lots of cool things to view and you can even explore the trains cars out on the tracks. The interactive section of the museum was a little messed up from overzealous kids not being watched by their parents. The typewriter was actively being destroyed while we were there by a young child. Had to pick up typewriter keys off the ground and reattach them when they stepped away. Close to downtown Temple as well. Good place to walk when you are finished.

Love this place. It's so cool. They have seasonal events, too! Pretty neat. There's a room up top where you have a giant window and you can even see the trains departing. There's also rooms in the museum where you can type on a type writer and see other interesting old tech up close. I really love demonstrational museums.

Nestled in the heart of Temple, Texas, the Czech Heritage Museum and Genealogy Center is a delightful gem that beautifully encapsulates the rich tapestry of Texan-Czech culture. This charming museum features stunning mosaic tiles and offers an engaging glimpse into Czech history through its well-curated exhibits, including traditional costumes and captivating stories.
Definitely a stop you shouldn't miss if you are in the area. My wife and I are from Czechoslovakia (it was that when we were born), but you don't have to be to thoroughly enjoy this small museum and its beautiful exhibits. Ken, the proprietor, will walk you through the history, enlighten you with cool stories of other visitors, and you'll definitely get a lot of recommendations for other Czech-and-Slovak-related sights and activities in the area, such as dance halls, or stores and restaurants with delicious Czech foods. I never knew Texas has such a rich Czech and Slovak history. The museum itself is very small, so if you only have an hour or two to spare, you can easily get through it, if you walk and read fast. The museum was not busy at all on Saturday around 1pm (there were only 2 other people there). It's definitely suitable and exciting for kids too, but keep in mind that there are things within reach they shouldn't touch and handle. The exhibits on 'loutky' (puppets), 'kroje' - the traditional clothing, and old farm and household equipment from the Old World is pretty neat to see (in great condition, too). They dedicated a few exhibits to the Sokol athletic movement, Tomáš Gariggue Masaryk, Václav Havel, Ján Hus and other statesmen, and influential figures.

This museum is beautiful with beautiful items. I truly enjoyed the items. The gentleman who was going to give us a tour was very nice and passionate about this museum which is a big plus....however very talkative.. just to get through the front part of the museum which should have taken 10 to 15 mins at most took almost 30 minutes. I kind of was bored after all these dates and facts. 2 people entered the museum after we started so we had to wait for him to catch them up and go through everything he just told us. Well then we were gonna go to the next part and watch a 9 minute video but the tour guide and the 2 other people got to talking and wouldn't stop. My mom and I walked around the entire museum. 30 to 45 minutes later he came and found us at the end of the museum and ushered us back to watch the video. We left after that. Kind of a waste to go back through the museum again. My guess is the complete tour takes 2 to 3 hrs so make sure you make enough time to visit

I had a lovely visit to the museum today. I ended up gabbing with the docent for a good 30 minutes, but we shared some interesting connections to the Czech culture (I am not Czech). One particularly impressive part of the collection was the assortment of marionettes that are a good 150 years old but still in great condition with intricate detailing. For the low admission fee, it's worth a visit.

Very well educated staff. Found out my family came over on a boat and ported in Galveston. It was very well put together with a lot of Czech paintings and art. I really enjoyed myself and plan on being back for another visit real soon.

Nice little museum. The elderly museum worker talked my ear off and wouldn't stop. I avoided him on the way out. Other than that it's worth a visit on a 'nothing to do' day. The video had an interesting fact. I always thought that traditional Mexican music sounded similar to the German Polka music my dad listen to when I was growing up. In the video it explains that Czech Polka and Mexican bands played together and influenced each other. So that explains the similarity. :-)
