Prien Lake Park is a serene and well-maintained spot, perfect for family outings or a peaceful retreat. The scenic views of the lake are stunning making it a great place for photography or just relaxing by the water. The park features clean walking trails, picnic areas with shelters, and playgrounds that are perfect for kids. It’s also equipped with boat ramps for those wanting to spend time on the water. The atmosphere is calm, and the park is generally not too crowded, allowing visitors to fully enjoy the natural surroundings. Overall, it’s a wonderful destination for both recreation and relaxation.
Mahfuz H — Google review
Very clean quiet park. Was there for a family reunion. The facility that was rented was very nice. Outside always clean and beautiful.
Jay W — Google review
It's a very beautiful place with lots of paths to walk or jog. I went there to fish and found a nice area and caught a speckled trout from the shore using a large soft jig. Later I caught a croaker and then a flounder. I did this on 10/16/2025. My first time fishing out here.
CRISTIAN — Google review
This park is so well maintained! The playground is completely fenced in and it has high latches so little children just can’t wonder off. The exercise facility is very nice and I love how they have workout equipment spaced out the walking trail.
Mina W — Google review
Great clean park normally there is present of police during lunch nice boat ramp ...great picnic areas and splash park for the kiddos
Rick R — Google review
Great place to walk and exercise. Boat, canoe and kayak launches. Splash pad and park for the kiddos.
Joseph B — Google review
This park is great for whatever you decide you want to do . if you got a boat or a kayak and you want to do that no problem they have a launch. If you want to take your kids to a splash pad or the playground, no problem. If you are looking to either get a walk or run completed , the surrounding area is .73 miles so you’ll have to go around four times if you’re trying to do a 5k, this park really seems to have it all. The park hours are from 5 AM to 11 PM and you can see the Golden Nugget Casino in the distance.

The Country Club at The Golden Nugget in Lake Charles offers a variety of activities for visitors, including beachside amenities, spa treatments, dining options, live entertainment, and golf. The resort provides a relaxing atmosphere with well-maintained facilities and friendly staff. Visitors can also explore the local dining scene and enjoy live music in downtown areas or rooftop bars. Golf enthusiasts can appreciate the manicured course and excellent conditions for a pleasant round of golf.
Drove to Lake Charles from Houston this past Saturday to drop some cash at the casinos. Made a quick albeit late 3:45 tee off time for me and my nephew. Pro Shop personnel, a young woman, was super friendly and professional. Pro Shop was clean and well stocked. The round cost less than $100 @ $80 something which was great. We teed off and were pleasantly surprised at how good the course condition was. From tee to green , well manicured and excellent shape. Somehow, we managed to play in just under 3-1/2 hours with no one in front of us and no one behind which is a dream...unbelievable really. The closing cart personnel came out and checked on us when we were on 15...it seems we were the last ones on the course...I think it was just after 7pm...sun pretty high in the sky....I told him we'd wrap it up quickly and he said no worries, take your time just checking in on you. Very nice guy! We finished up and were super happy...I may just skip Contraband Bayou from now on. I only wish you guys would tie Comps to the golf course so I can play golf while my wife gambles away our retirement....lol....Anyway, Kudos to the Golf Club and staff. Tim J

Very proud to play our annual golf tournament at "The Nugget". This past weekend was our 19th annual trip and John and his team didn't disappoint. The course is regularly in excellent shape and the staff is great! See you guys next year at our 20th! If not before!
Bryan P — Google review
Yesterday it rained about 2 inches. The Golden Nugget opened, cart path only, while other courses did not. The course crew did an amazing job cleaning up the course for play and it was in terrific shape. What a great track. Don’t miss the opportunity to play this course.
Nanette H — Google review
We played this course on 9/22/23. It was a challenging course but in great shape. Unlike Contraband !! We had a great experience, the staff were amazing! The bartender and the restaurant manager (I can't remember their nams) were very attentive, I had gotten heat stroke/dehydration. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Hogan!
Shawn K — Google review
I called the pro shop probably 20-30 times in the past 4-5 days to book a tee time for my bday this Saturday and no one ever picked up, finally I called 4 times today and someone picked up and they tell me they’re booked thru the week and weekend. I canceled my hotel reservation and all
Andrew D — Google review
The best golf course in Lake Charles
William D — Google review
The golf course was awesome! It has a great layout and very pretty design. The holes are challenging. The greens were some of the best greens I’ve played on. They are fast and the lines are true. The views of the bypass loop over the river was very pretty also. The only drawback is for the price the carts didn’t have GPS in them. The staff was friendly to us and accommodating
B D — Google review
I haven't played the course yet but I have been trying to set a tee time for 2 weeks. NO ONE WILL ANSWER THE PHONE OR RETURN CALLS! Update: Finally set a tee time. The course was great. Fun to play. The people were the best part, extremely kind very helpful. Only one negative to say is the carts could use some replacing or upgrades or something. Otherwise, I highly recommend.

L'Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles

Casino
The L'Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles is a luxurious hotel that boasts of various amenities such as an outdoor pool, spa, dining options, golf course and shopping. The suites are highly recommended for their exquisite features like the ceiling shower. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere creates a log cabin feel upon entering. Guests can opt to eat at local restaurants but should definitely check out the spa and pool area during their stay.
It was my first time experiencing a stay at a casino and it was so nice. Didn’t think I would be in to slots and whatnot but it’s pretty neat. Everything was clean in the hotel. The view was beautiful and it even had a mini beach with a nice deck and gazebo. We went there at night to enjoy the breeze and quiet. Also the PJs coffee cafe was delicious! The meatball sandwich made me feel like I was at a nice Italian restaurant! Got $10 off at PJ’s for signing up for the PENN Play! Wish I had a chance to enjoy the pool and lazy river. Definitely will be back to enjoy it. Love it here

The room was nice enough. Bed was comfortable. A/C wasn't very cool (I don't think the thermostat was correct). The coffee in the room sucked-tasted very stale and there was only powdered creamer that tasted like poop. In a state that has Community coffee, I expected better. We got there on Friday. Went to Dragos and was NOT told about the seafood buffet until after we had ordered. I was pissed since I called before hand and made sure Lauberge had a seafood buffet. Food was not worth the price we paid. Then, the waitress gave us the same bill, the higher of our 2 meals. When I brought it to her attention, she actually argued with me. Went down the next morning for their breakfast and was sorely disappointed (coffee was $3/cup) and the only decent food item was bread pudding.... The only place to get a cup of decent coffee was Modern Pantry. I've never stayed at an establishment where you couldn't get a decent cuppa Joe. Will go to Golden Nugget or somewhere else next time.

Never have a bad experience here other than just losing money. 🤪 Beds are comfy, rooms are clean, pool is amazing, and staff is so friendly! Only downside for us was we wanted to book massages and spa stuff for our anniversary but it was already booked up by the time we went to book the day before 😭 I see a lot of complaints in other people’s reviews about not getting non smoking rooms - my suggestion to the owners of this hotel/casino is to just get rid of the smoking rooms like golden nugget did to offer guests a better experience. I think most of us can agree smoking is no longer as popular as it once was. Keep it in the casino but not the rooms. Also I see people complaining about the signature scent but I love it so please don’t get rid of it!
Vivian C — Google review
I stopped in to the L’Auberge Casino while passing through Lake Charles recently. The facility was very clean and well attended. The staff were very congenial and chatty in a nice welcoming way. I only experienced the casino floor in any detail, but the property in general is really nice, including outdoor areas next to the water. They have free soft drinks and coffee while gambling, as well as a wide assortment of table games and slot machines. They still call them slots, but they are really like elaborate video games with a bunch of bells and whistles and its difficult to know what exactly is happening, but every so often you do win some credits, kind of surreal actually. They also have robotic craps and roulette, which combines table games with a video poler style terminal ad. A place to set your free coffee and cigarettes! Yes, they do still let folks smoke their menthols on the casino floor! I recommend giving this site a try if you are passing Lake Charles - great spot for a travel break. Remember to gamble responsibly and never wager more than you can afford!
Chris S — Google review
We’ve been to L’auberge for years. We’ve always enjoyed it but not this time. We asked for a room closest to the elevator by the casino. It was on the 8th floor- pretty far down from the elevator. The mattress was not comfortable at all. There was a nice gentleman that brought our white robes to use. A chair was broken, my husband called and they never came to fix it. The refrigerator didn’t get the bottled water cold. The alarm on the clock came on and woke us around 6:00 am. I guess if you pay more on the weekends you get the better rooms. When Pinnacle owned it, it was better.
Christi C — Google review
I booked L' Abuerge Casino Resort because of all the glowing reviews, but from the moment we arrived, its been nothing but disappointment. Before checking in, I went online to confirm restaurant hours, which clearly showed they’d be open later—but when we got here, everything was already closed one to two hours earlier than advertised. At check-in, things got even worse. I prepaid for my room through Trivago and had receipts to prove it, yet the front desk still tried to charge me an additional $220, instead of just the $50 incidental hold and $24 resort fee. They kept insisting I hadn’t paid, even though I literally showed them proof. On top of that, I paid for a king-size bed, and they repeatedly told me there weren’t any available until I pushed back and demanded what I booked—after over 12 hours of driving, no less. The staff were generally standoffish and unhelpful, our casino credits didn’t even work, and all of their restaurants and bars close ridiculously early. I’m sorry, but if I’m staying at a casino, I expect to be able to eat or order a nice cocktail at 10 p.m.—not be told everything shuts down at 9. Even their pool hours aren’t accurate; the website says it opens at 8 a.m., but when we called this morning, they said it doesn’t open until 10. After this experience, I truly regret not staying at the Golden Nugget next door. Their restaurants, bars, and amenities are open until at least midnight—the way a real resort should be. Everything advertised on La Berge’s website felt misleading, and it’s frustrating that no one seemed interested in making things right for guests. The only redeeming part of our entire experience was a wonderful gentleman named Willie, who checks IDs in the casino. He was incredibly friendly and shared an awesome chat with us about nu-wave and post-punk music. He was the one bright spot in what was otherwise an absolute disaster of a stay. Save yourself the headache and stay at the Golden Nugget. You’ll actually get what you pay for.
Mari S — Google review
Only negative things I have to say is that the check in took forever, but there were alot of people trying to check in at the same time and only two people working the check-in counter. Some areas of the room you could tell haven't been dusted or wiped down like the phone and areas of the night stand. Other than that, the rooms were spacious and nice. Bathrooms and shower were nice as well. Nice golf course out front. Plenty of places to eat without leaving the hotel. Would definitely visit again.
Lantz H — Google review
Room was pretty nice but the beds were horrible! Too soft and no support! The room had no information card, no hotel information. The registration staff was very tepid even when we mentioned that we had been coming here since the week first opened and that it we were here to celabrate our 50th annivesary. However the food at BetEspn and Johnny Sanches was great. Sadly this just isn't the place it used to be

Dequincy Railroad Museum

Nice little museum and gift shop. I spent an hour looking at everything and wasn't rushing. I actually learned a little bit about the importance of watch repair, which was very important back when pocket watches were essential tools for the job. The "G" scale locomotives on display were interesting to read about as they were awesome models of the real engines. I thought it was worth stopping by and stretching my legs.

This was a neat little place to visit. The lady inside was very nice and told us a lot about the building. Like the building was 101 years old and has the original flooring, which has held up really well. It's a nice place to visit.
Tracy S — Google review
I was in the area doing a few other things and decided to stop by. I am so very glad I did! Lots of parking in front, an event space all around, actual trains off to the side, this was so nice! Inside there is a lot of memorabilia to look at, a model train going around, and even a wax model of a jeweler! I would recommend this to everyone!
Andrea F — Google review
My son is an avid railroad fan who enjoys catching up with rail fan friends here at the DeQuincy Railroad Museum Railroad Festival 🥰 He’s seen one train pass through since we made it here about 1:30pm this afternoon. Oh the excitement of seeing model trains can be found here. The museum staff are very courteous. On the festival grounds Bread & Board are selling a delicious bbq brisket sandwich for $13. The park ladies restroom is clean. Lastly, there’s a beautiful family here selling a scrumptious shrimp fettuccine over smoke turkey leg for $17. They’re located next to the tent where you can get free bottle of water and ask the youth a question about the Bible.

Miss Mary was very friendly and informative. It’s a really nice museum. Highly recommend it for anyone who is visiting Louisiana.
Robert H — Google review
This place is a blast from the past! Great history lesson for any millennial or anybody. Nice lady inside I believe her name was Mary, (forgive me if I’m wrong)knows all there is to know about this particular train station! We had a great time learning about everything she told us about the railroad business. Thank you for a memorable experience!
Frank F — Google review
Nice refurbished Train Depot with train memorabilia and model train layouts inside. A nice park with several train cars, including a passenger car steam engine, and caboose. Also a play area for young kids. It's located right in the middle of a Big "Y" between two separate Railroads that run through the town. The town's City Hall is also located within the "Y" too!

We came here for the first time a week ago to celebrate my birthday and have some fun, and we definitely did! The staff was so nice and welcoming, and they even got excited about my birthday. I loved the variety of slots, though I wish they had more of the ones I wanted to play. Still, we found a few we really enjoyed. We also grabbed food at the pizza place inside and it was pretty good. The service was fast, which we appreciated. We haven’t stayed at the hotel yet, but we definitely plan to. Our experience was very positive, and we can’t wait to come back.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times but this weekend was the best. Atmosphere has changed a lot. It was fun!! Oktoberfest was the best. Thank you!! I only gave a 4 on location because we need one near Houston!! I had to drive 2.5 hours but well worth it.

Today I visited this establishment with my Mom. The staff were so sweet and pleasant from start to finish. My Mom lost her phone and did not even realize it. One male security staff asked me had I lost my phone and I said no. Then one female security person asked me as well and I said no. Then I asked my Mom did she have her phone and we quickly realized her phone was missing. I really appreciate their proactivity in finding who the lost phone belonged to. I went to four points and the male bartender provided excellent customer service as well. Overall great experience, I truly felt they cared. Please recognize the team that was there today 11/6/25 between 10:30a-12:30p. They were nothing but the best!

Came here for a quick 2 day visit. Had a really good time gambling here. Play was good as it gets. Room with a lake view was awesome. Could have done a better job cleaning, and some staff was not real friendly. Will definitely return.
Grady S — Google review
We ‘pop’ in here usually on our way back to Houston from L’Auberge, and things were much better a few months ago. We stayed overnight last night. Casino service was horrible! Rooms were nice, but bathroom had hair on the floor and stuck to wall of shower, grout needs to be scrubbed. When on stays in an upper class hotel, you expect it to be clean. Food was good and waitress was on to of things. My complaint is this. Husband was at craps table and when a waitress finally came around, he asked for Evian water. She snarled at him asked rudely barked,”what color card do you have?”. He asked why she needed to know, her reply was, we reserve Evian for our upper tiered guest. He said he would purchase it, she said, “I just told you, we reserve them for upper tiered guest”. Then she walked off. I will say this, every one we came in contact with since we arrived (waited 15 minutes for valet came out, but not until I got out and managed to get in my wheelchair and went in to find them) was rude, condescending, and showed no interest in customer care or satisfaction. You would think that they would realize that happy satisfied customers will spend and tip more money. We did notice that some people received much better attention than others at the table and cash cage. As a note, if you are ‘the others’ just beware, your service will be different from others. We arrived from Bossier City, Horseshoe, and while staff was good, casino dealers were exactly the same! We won’t be back to either establishment, which is what they wanted. Good help is hard to find, but they need to keep looking.

Ok the beds here are so comfortable. You just melt it is that comfortable. Clean, beautiful rooms. Very nice hotel to stay, you will not be disappointed. Stay during the week with less crowds, pool is gorgeous, gym is nice and clean. Have stayed here many times while working in the area and it is always as pleasant as the time before.
Inga S — Google review
Every next time I visit this place, I like it a little more. Since I am a Caesars rewards member, check in and out are easy. The property is not overwhelmingly big and the rooms are really nice. I really like the lake view and the area is actually quite and peaceful despite its industrial surroundings. I'll be a repeat visitor for sure!
FYAAFNR — Google review
Nice clean casino. Shoot out to Eric at the bar and the lady who brought us all our adult beverages. We were in a group so it was appreciated On a bad note do not go to Slice very poorly organized and pizza slices were discusting and cold. I am not sure how they get away with serving cold food off a display. I am sure heslth inspecter would shut them down.

Such a beautiful & safe park to bring the littles. I absolutely love the music that of played from Disney movies as well. Definitely a playground I would have enjoyed as a kid. They have onsite restrooms.

This park has an amazing playground. It’s expansive and compatible with kids of all ages. It’s naturally setup with a nautical theme with a large pirate ship sitting as a center piece. There are separate areas for the big kids and little kids. There are plenty of slides and swings and the typical stuff, but there are also some interesting home grown features that I’ve not seen anywhere else. It’s also super secure with two fences that ensure the kids aren’t going to escape. The bathrooms are surprisingly clean and there is a splash pad for the summer months. This is a jewel.
Christopher W — Google review
You really cant go wrong with this park. Its massive with an absolute abundance of things for kids of all ages to participate in. There are different sections that are age based and it includes a splash pad. What would be nice is if yhe gated park had gates to get in. The park is so large, it can be hard to keep tabs on kids. Having door gates would help alleviate the stress of misplacing your child for 8 seconds when they inevitably run out of sight.

Sam Houston Jones State Park is a vast 1,087-acre park known for its waterways and boat launches, offering activities such as birding, hiking, and camping. Unfortunately, the park is currently closed to the public due to damages caused by Hurricane Ida and Delta. However, many people are working tirelessly to repair the park in hopes of reopening for day use by late spring or early summer 2022. The staff has been praised for their hard work and dedication during the cleanup process.
If you are looking at our price of $66 a night, we booked a premium pull through site. We've been RVing for 25 years and sites like this easily go for double this price. Thanks for state parks. Our site had lots of Space, maintained Grass, Grill, Table, Patio, Views... Awesome park. Lots of hiking trails and lots of great shops and restaurants in Lake Charles. We brought our bikes, their are plenty of paved paths and off road trails. We did not go fishing however there were a plenty of people fishing. The park is large enough people fishing were spread out across the park. Park is easy to maneuver, our motorhome is 38' and towing a Jeep Wrangler with two ebikes. Very peaceful wonderful stay. We camped at Sam Houston Jones State Park in a Motorhome at site CT007

A very nice and well maintained park. RV sites are well equipped but no trees or privacy whatsoever in this area. A beautiful little lake with cypress trees and access to the Houston River. A boat launch and kayak rentals are available at the river. Nice cabin rentals. There are a couple nice hiking trails here.

Nice place with lots of wildlife. The trails around the camp are really nice, and the park is well-kept overall. We camped in an RV spot. The spots themselves are just concrete pads with no shade but they’re plenty level. The bathhouse was clean and reasonably well kept up. Do watch out for the swarm of mosquitos that comes out at dusk. We had to retreat into our van and spent the next 20 minutes swatting them away. My only negative with this place came when we packed up and left. A lady in a golf cart who’d clearly let her minuscule amount of power go to her head blocked our lane as we were about to exit to inform us the speed limit was 5 (FIVE) miles per hour. My speedometer doesn’t even go that low, but we were probably going 10mph. Nice place other than that. Be sure to walk the orange trail and see lots of wildlife.

At the time of this post , the park has recently refreshed the amenities and trails. The RV area is paved with a clean new restroom and shower area that is air conditioned. There are two blink Level 2 EV chargers that currently cost $0.39/KW. The roads in the park have been repaved, and the cabins are brand new. They have done a fantastic job of clearing and improving the trails with signage. There is a new boardwalk along the river near the kids playground area with breathtaking views. I am really impressed and hope the park continues this level of maintenance!

I had not visited this park since the hurricane in 2020. This park has always been so beautiful! Even though it lost alot of its trees it is still such a peaceful and lovely retreat. Very friendly staff. Clean restrooms. Great trails for all ages. Boardwalks, walking paths, bike paths, kids trail, playgrounds, disk golf, boating, kayaking, picnic areas...something for everyone! 💚💚💚

This place is so worth your time! Absolutely gorgeous. Pet friendly, fishing, boating, biking and so much more. The scenery is breathtaking. A must go to with the family or just a stroll by yourself to unwind.

Great park with lots of recreational options. Trails for walking, running, biking, birding.. Full disc golf course. Ponds, lagoons, river (including nice boardwalk) for fishing. New cabins. RV camping area. Beautiful park making a great comeback after devastating storms a few years ago.

This was a very nice park. You could rent kayaks and go out on the river. It had some hiking trails, and even had a kids trail with cute animals and decorations set up along the trail. (It was probably a 16th mike loop) It had a disc golf course on it as well.

We hosted a small customer event here and it was perfect. Staff was very accommodating - really big space, you could pack some people in there - huge projection screen. Nice gift store. Affordable venue, but call ahead - they are booked quite a ways out. Easy to get to from Lake Charles. Plenty of parking.
Jonathan P — Google review
Made a short day trip to visit. Although we didnt get to take the tour due to time, this is still a great place to visit. The gift shop was very well stocked, had exactly what I was looking for. Prices were very reasonable for their gift items. If you visit, be sure to ask for Hannah. She was AMAZING. She was able to answer questions and even gave advice for other items we were looking for.

BAYOU RUM DISTILLERY- Lacassine, LA Vibes: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Our tour guide was Gracie. She was so sweet & informative. In total between the video at the beginning, the tour, the tasting, & the gift shop, we spent about an hour & a half there. Very classy with rustic touches for the design style. The event center is gorgeous & I loved the outdoor New Orleans style courtyard. Accessibility: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Parking was fairly easy, I don’t think there were more than two handicapped spots but it was not super busy so we had no issues. The entire facility inside is all flat ground, all paved concrete, wood, or brick flooring. The handicap bathroom stall in the women’s restroom was SLIGHTLY too small to shut the door with a manual wheelchair so she had to pee with the door cracked open. A caregiver would not have fit if needed. & the bar top for the tasting didn’t have a low area for wheelchair users.

We had a wonderful time! Our guide was very informative and pleasant. The grounds, distillery, and event center appeared very well kept. 100% the tour and taste testing.
Kati F — Google review
We were really looking forward to visiting this rum distillery, especially after calling ahead and being told the tour was free. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told it cost $10 and that we’d have to wait an hour for the next tour — which was disappointing and a bit confusing. While we didn’t end up doing the tour or the tasting, we still enjoyed the visit. The landscape around the distillery is absolutely beautiful and worth the stop on its own. The gift shop was lovely, with a nice selection of rums and local products — definitely worth browsing. It wasn’t quite the experience we expected, but we’d consider coming back again with more time and clearer info. Hopefully next time we’ll get to try the tasting!
Den E — Google review
Staff was super sweet, our tour guide was amazing. And you get to try 7 different types of rum. The coffee one is by far #1 and the second ,if you like gin like me, is the pink one. 100% recommend coming here. Plus it is beautiful!
Vanessa R — Google review
I had an amazing experience visiting this rum distillery, a rare find! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and immediately set the tone for a fun and informative tour. The guide had a real passion for rum-making and explained every step of the process with great detail, but in a way that was easy to follow and engaging. The distillery itself is beautiful—well-maintained, full of character, and with a unique charm that makes you feel connected to the tradition behind the craft. The aromas in the barrel room were incredible, and learning about the aging process gave me a whole new appreciation for the complexity of rum. Of course, the highlight was the tasting session! Each sample showcased a different style and character, from smooth and mellow to rich and full-bodied. It was a treat to discover the nuances between them, and I left with a new favorite bottle of Gator Bite to take home, but my next one is the XO. Overall, this tour was the perfect balance of education, history, and fun. Whether you’re a rum enthusiast or just curious to learn something new, I highly recommend visiting. It’s an experience I’ll definitely remember—and one I’d happily do again!

Had a great time at this museum. What a way to explore the past. Brenda, who was working today, gave me a thorough and rich experience by pointing out cool relics and talking about days of yesteryear.

Incredibly cool free (donations accepted) museum with passionate and kind staff. It's essentially a frozen in time "time capsule" experience, that gives you an interesting way to look back at 1940s America. Their collection and variety of items is very impressive. This is definitely worth a visit.

One of the best hidden gems in Jennings if you have kids or enjoy learning a but of history. Aside from the amazing museum they have a clubhouse inside for the kids to play. Puppets for a show, toys, coloring books etc. Truly a great place we will always continue going to. Not to mention the man behind all the decor and designs is just phenomenal! He makes those wreaths and other things in their gift shop.

Gator Chateau

Tourist information center
Visitor Centers
Gator Chateau proved to be an utterly delightful and charming experience, exceeding all expectations for a local attraction. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was inviting, and the natural beauty of the park immediately captivated us. If you're in the area and looking for a unique and enjoyable outing, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Gator Chateau – you won't be disappointed. The park itself is simply gorgeous. It's clear that a lot of care and attention has been put into creating a beautiful and naturalistic environment. Lush greenery, well-maintained paths, and serene water features provide a pleasant backdrop that enhances the overall experience. It's the perfect setting for a leisurely stroll and a wonderful way to connect with nature. Of course, the stars of the show are the animals, and Gator Chateau did not disappoint. The ducks were undeniably cute, waddling around and adding a lively, playful energy to the ponds. Their presence contributed to the overall idyllic ambiance of the park. But it was the gators that were truly cool. Observing these impressive reptiles in their habitat was fascinating. Whether they were basking on the rocks, gliding through the water, or simply resting, their presence commanded attention. It's a fantastic opportunity to see these magnificent creatures up close in a safe and controlled environment. One of the absolute highlights of our visit was the opportunity to hold a baby gator. This was an incredibly unique and memorable experience that added a special thrill to the day. The staff handled the process with utmost professionalism and safety, ensuring both our comfort and the well-being of the little gator. It's a chance to interact with wildlife in a way that's rare and exciting, creating a story you'll be telling for years to come. Beyond the captivating animals and beautiful surroundings, the staff at Gator Chateau were exceptional. Every interaction we had was met with genuine warmth and professionalism. They were consistently polite, always ready with a smile and helpful information. What's more, their knowledgeability was evident. They were able to answer questions about the gators and the park with confidence and enthusiasm, making the experience even more enriching. Their passion for the animals and their commitment to guest satisfaction truly shone through. In conclusion, Gator Chateau offers a winning combination of natural beauty, fascinating wildlife, and outstanding customer service. It's an attraction that appeals to all ages, providing opportunities for both educational enjoyment and pure, simple fun. Definitely check them out when in the area! It's a hidden gem that truly delivers a memorable and charming experience.

Cool little stop. They rehab alligators from abandon nests. Return them to wild when old enough. Even got to hold one! Admission is free. There is also a great walkway around the pond. Several people fishing for catfish. Also a great monument to those from Louisiana that served in Vietnam. Very well done!
Homebuiltcamper D — Google review
Took a day trip and decided to visit. The two guides today (wish I had gotten their names) were very friendly, answered all the questions and even gave local information. The alligators are well managed, you can touch or hold the baby ones (they have 4 different ones) and a huge 90 year old snapping turtle. The gift shop has several gift options and is very reasonable priced. I ended up with an alligator head to take to my job! The park is well kept and wished we had more time to visit. Buy the feed and watch the geese run to get fed!!

Oh my goodness, such a cute place! We were greeted by a bunch of friendly ducks when we arrived then we went inside, the inside was so neat and organized! The staff greeted us when we walked in then we went to the room with the alligators and Pierre (their 90 year old snapping turtle) we were taught about how they identified his age. And it was all free! I highly recommend stopping here and checking it out!
Taylor G — Google review
Make the stop. Get to hold a baby Gator. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Could be a quick stop or a longer stop if you decide to feed the ducks (can buy duck feed from them), play at park, eat lunch by the lake, or whatever your heart decides once there. But definitely worth the stop.
A J — Google review
I loved this! Super informative, awesome baby gators that you get to hold! I also def8nitely e recommend buying the duck food and feeding the ducks. It was totally different from ant other duck feeding experience I've had!

Love this place is definitely different from other Casino's I've visited. They serve complimentary drinks and has the option to order while your playing in your favorite slot machine. Drinks don't take long to come around enough time to finish your drink while your next drink is already on its way. Definitely must try this Casino's. Hotel is clean and looks very high end. Stayed at the 7 Clans Hotel!!!

The room we had at 7 clans hotel was not very clean. Dust everywhere. I am very allergic to dust. Beds were very soft but comfortable. They need new pillows badly! The bathroom was extremely dirty. The bottom of the toilet was very dirty. Pee and hairs from many past guests by the look of it. Shower had dirt and others hairs in it. Very disappointing especially when you pay almost $300 for 1 night. Housekeeping needs retraining. I am a Housekeeping manager with 16 years experience. This is not how a clean room shod look!
KitKat S — Google review
I love love love Coushatta. They have the best comps, machines, customer service and people. A couple of better food options would be great. We have stayed at the Grand and the Seven Clans many times. I love how they proactively knock on the door and ask if there is anything that we need. The only thing I would say absolutely needs attention is the room. I love you guys, but the rooms are never dusted. This is from my last stay at Seven clans 10/19- 10/22. I could never give them a bad rating, but I do hope this changes. The last picture was whomever hair that was stuck on the shower wall. Even after showering it was still there. When room service came for their daily check in, it was promptly taken care of

Great Place to go! Celebrated my Husband's Birthday and enjoyed the slots, table games and food! The Grand was nice to stay as well. Even though they are under construction, once your inside it's nice and clean. The Steakhouse was remodeled too and veryyyyy nice and wonderful food!

Casino is now totally full of video machines....only a handful of the original slot machines that we use to love to play. At first glance you would think you were in China as the video machines are featured with oriental designs. Since the Covid pandemic, the machines are the tightest ever. This will be our last trip here. Years ago we lived this place but not so much now.
Charlotte W — Google review
I have never stayed at the hotel… this is for the casino only! This place is comparable to one of the bigger casinos in Vegas. Inside is always clean. Love the free drink station. No interaction with any staff- walked by several and no one greeted or seemed friendly - but I guess that’s not really something to expect in a casino. Good selection of food inside. We will be back soon!

Golf Courses
Koasati Pines Golf Club is a stunning and demanding course with fast and accurate greens. The club house and golf carts are top-notch, providing excellent services for players. The 19th hole, featuring an exciting par 3 island green, adds to the overall enjoyment of the round. This Louisiana gem is one of the finest courses in the area, offering a combination of fun and challenge. Maintained in great condition, it boasts two exceptional par 5 holes with double fairways.
This place is absolutely gorgeous. The course is way better than I am. The amount of maintenance and upkeep is far better than any other course I have played in the state. I took these pics May of 2024, right after several rainy days. Even after the heavy precipitation there was maybe two fairways with some puddles. Fun course, great veteran discount, a sure must play for any golfer.

Course is absolutely beautiful. My lower raiting is due to the lady that works at the bar. She has dark hair and a nose ring. I do not know her name. This is a wonderful place to come experience the Cajun culture. Displays, videos, classes, and demonstrations are available that cover many aspects of the culture. Cooking, music, crafts, and the Cajun dialect of French are all discussed in these activities. Ms. A. Bellard proved to be especially informative and welcoming - thanks! If you are a visitor to the area and are curious about Cajun culture, or even if you are a local and want to find out more about your own history, I highly recommend using the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center as a resource.

Through exhibits, music, food, and language, the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center is preserving and celebrating the precious cultural contributions of the Cajun people in this part of Louisiana. Welcoming staff and strong community partnerships and programming make this center feel like an extension of the local community -- making this a very special National Park. Visit to learn, have fun, and see your tax dollars at work for the public good.

My wife and I visited the Saturday Morning Jam Sept 7 2013 and had a great time. Wonderful cajun music and not a stranger in the house. Cant wait to return Marc is a wonderful host.

My parents ordered an accordion and the transaction went terribly. Also, the accordion did not work properly when it arrived. During the process of trying to get the accordion Marc told my mother he could be my mother's best friend or worst enemy. Poor treatment of customers gets you one star.

A fascinating place to stop. It’s not totally the museum you might expect to see in a major city. This is in part due to the fact it is privately owned. The odds are if it were government owned, roaming through all of the faclities would be a lot more restricted. There are a couple of buildings with excelletnt displays of forestry, the CCC, and a nearby USA camp. There are several older buildings some open and some ‘closed’. The closed buildings were closed because of safety reasons. IF you want a short walk, there is a trail with some desciptions of the facilities you can take. There were a couple of locomotives. The best of them is being restored and under cover. IF you time it right, you might catch a ride on the M4, a doodlebug. They have a collection of older trucks, tractors, small cranes used to cut timber. I would have to say that with the LA environment, visit the mill sooner than later. As I understand it the mill is also suppose to be haunted. I walked around in the late evening and never saw or heard anything Lots to see, lots to do. Lots to walk through and imagine seeing the wood that was cut there was used for WWII landing craft. IF you have small children, keep an eye on them. There are a lot of places and things they can get into where they can get hurt.
Abner S — Google review
This is a combination of an Army camp and a Mill. General Bradley is noted as the only "leg" to command the 82nd Airborne. He happened to simply be in command. General Ridgeway had the responsibility of planning, training and equipping the former 82nd Inf. Lots of photos bring back nostalgic times growing up in Massachusetts. The white scale used for weighing meat was something my great grandfather used.

Great museum the lady working there was very helpful the grounds are very large and it takes a while to view everything. We will definitely go back.

Use to think of this as a wonderful place, spent a few days before Christmas there before my daughter passed from cancer. They had a special ride a train with santa. So when it came to booking our wedding there wasnt a second option. We paid in full and booked almost a year in advance. The morning of while we waiting for the bride to show up, they decided to have a high school band competition in the building next door. I talked with management who basically said the main office in Alexandria booked the bands. Weddings are booked by local management, nether really communicate. They offered to stop the bands for a break around the time we estimated the vows would be said. However we still had the start and dancing after drowned out with marching bands. Special day turned more stress and bad....

This is an awesome place. It's really like four museums in one. All centered around an ancient historical sawmill. Best of all there are trains.

We visited with the owner, Susan, while shopping the store and had the most wonderful visit! Her employee was a awesome to visit with as well! They will be shipping items home for us since we're on an RV trip and didn't want the goodies getting unnecessarily hot on the rest of our trip. A must stop when you're in the area!
Kelly G — Google review
I made a special trip to visit the Little Eva Pecan House store. The inviting and fun sign caught my attention. Inside, the store was clean and filled with a variety of items including art, jewelry, books, and crafts. While taking photographs to share with others who might be interested in the store, an employee behind the counter pointed to a sign above her indicating that no photography or video was allowed. The employee explained that the owners do not like it. I hadn't noticed the sign until it was pointed out, as it was not prominently displayed. As a reviewer and marketer, I believe such a policy should be clearly posted at the entrance so customers are aware before entering. I find it puzzling why a store would not want its merchandise shared or showcased, but I respect their right to enforce such a rule. I strive to review and share my experiences at various places on Google Maps, often including photos or videos. After being informed of the no-photography policy, I felt uncomfortable and quietly left to continue on to my next destination. NOTE: The photographs of the store's interior that I'm sharing with my review were taken before I was informed about the no-photography policy.

6,400 acre park surrounding a lake features fishing, boating, hiking & camping, plus an arboretum.
Very nice area - well maintained. The arboretum building is extremely clean and has a great exhibit. Pathways through the cypress swamp are easy to hike - plenty of subjects for photography. You could spend a day or two out here easy. Everything is very well marked and easy to get around.

Such a beautiful place. $3.00 per person to get in. Watch the wild life or listen to the birds, or camp out. It's so peaceful out there. Lots of trails, love the pier, walking out on to the lake. mother nature at her finest, just breath taking.

We happened to reserve a fabulously private site on C loop, but the roads were horrific with tons of pot holes. Surprisingly the staff were not very friendly. We were surprised as we have encountered southern friendliness everywhere else. The kayaking is fabulous. There are a lot of bass boat people fishing. The splash pad was great to cool off after kayaking. The arboretum is pretty. The north campground seems much older and less occupied. The bathrooms are old and need to be updated. The camp host Jeff was the friendliest person we encountered. The sites have only electric and water, but there are 2 dump stations as you leave the south campground. You have to watch the fire ants. The cabins on the water look so romantic. We saw an alligator 🐊 at the bridge where everyone goes fishing. There is a great market 2 miles south of the park which also has gas. The town of Ville Platte is also nearby.

We camp there as often as we can. The hills are nice. You can walk at night, it's fairly quiet, they have a splash pad for the kids, warfs to fish off of or stand there and enjoy the beauty of nature, there are also hiking paths in the woods, and the have rental spots for those who like to go in with very little things (primitive) to camp off the beaten path to hike to and camp like the old days.

Kent Plantation House

Historical place museum
Sights & Landmarks
French-colonial plantation house built in 1796, featuring guided tours & grounds with outbuildings.
We had an amazing time at the camp plantation house. The tour guide for the house was amazing she needs so much detail and history. The house has been amazingly preserved. The Furnishing is mostly original to the house. The grounds are not all original to the plantation. But each outbuilding serves a purpose and tell us a little bit of History. I was fascinated with each of the outbuildings and the history that go went along with them

Great place to tour, and the tour guide was supper nice and fun to talk to. They have the incorrect time for their tours on the website. When we got there, they ended up doing a tour just for us, which was so nice.
Andrea S — Google review
I loved the tour guides! They were knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. This was my first plantation tour and won't be my last. I loved the little gift shop as well. Great preserved artifacts. Thank you ladies! As an American descendant of slaves I feel that it's important to learn of our history.

My husband and I were traveling through Alexandria, and decided to visit Kent House. Our guides were fun, friendly, and knowledgeable. I saw a few things here that I have not seen before. The house had quite a few original furnishings, pictures, and documents. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, and would definitely recommend.
Brandy H — Google review
I visited this plantation with my family because I was interested in learning about the history of plantations. After our experience, I have mixed feelings about it because the first tour guide was very informative and respectful in presenting the information. The second tour guide had her own biased views which didn't fit within a professional setting. While visiting these sites provide a learning experience, including the showcasing of the realities of slavery, I believe it's important to approach these visits thoughtfully. I want to clarify that learning about this topic does not make slavery acceptable, rather it should encourage awareness and reflection.
Alba L — Google review
It was such a good experience, the ladies were so nice, showing us around, giving us all the details about the plantation, and nice little gift shop to bring a souvenir back to texas.
Kayla M — Google review
We visited this plantation as a family. We were visiting out of town and decided to take the kids to this tour. The tour guide was very informative and he gave us very detailed description of the owners house. I think less time was spent on the slave quarters. They could have talked more about the hardships that the slaves went through but that part was skipped..

Alexandria Zoological Park

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Zoo with international-themed habitats for exotic wildlife & tours on a scale-model train.
I had an amazing time at this zoo with my family. The tortoises were so cute 😭 there were lots of animals but I feel like I missed a few of them. I didn’t see any otters but maybe they just weren’t out yet? I got there a little after they opened in the morning. But the tickets are a reasonable price, the staff was nice, the park had beautiful scenery, there were plenty of nice and clean bathrooms, a café where you can get drinks and good food, and plenty of seating!!
Taebear V — Google review
The zoo was nice and had a lot more animals than I expected. I'm not sure if it was because of the time we got there, but a lot of the larger animals were not out. Overall, there is a lot to look at, and we had a great time walking around and checking it out.

Amazing zoo! I love the immersion of this zoo compared to other zoos in the state. Also the enclosures are awesome and plenty big enough for all the animals.

I've been to a lot of different zoos including Brazil and Australia but I have to say this is up there with the one in Singapore. Every time I go I forget the path they do really good job of blending everything in and immersing you the animals all seem very laid back. The train ride is a must, it just sort of completes the trip.
Jaymes B — Google review
I haven’t been to this zoo in almost 30 years but just remembering the beautiful moments I shared with my Grandmother here, I decided to look up the recent photos. I can’t tell you how heartwarming it is to see you still have the koi, the flamingos, and the peacocks. I have some beautiful memories of your zoo and it looks exactly the same. I am so PROUD of you that the upkeep is phenomenal after all the years. When I visit back home, this absolutely will be a stop for me and my family. Thank you to all of your staff and management for taking care of these animals and providing a great facility for local residents to enjoy. <3

I come here every-time I visit my grandparents in pineville, great size for kids to walk around and a large variety of animals! $2.50 gets you a large cup of fish food and you can feed the koi they have! $3 for a train ride around the property, Gift shop isn’t too expensive either

This place is MASSIVE. Although in a shady rundown area geographically, the play place makes up for it. Lots and lots of things for kids to do without getting in each others way. Love how everything is sectioned off. Love that there’s a quiet room for infants. I really wish they could transport this to a safer location, location is the only reason I don’t go there often.

We brought our toddler here today just to get out of the house and when we entered it seemed like a cool little place for kids but when we got to the toddler section there was rat feces all over the chairs, floor, and toys. Gone Wild Safari

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Petting zoo with exotic species in a parklike setting, with general admission & party packages.
My family and I loved it here. Other than the entrance going into the safari ( almost lost a tire) it was a very good experience for my children.
Crystal G — Google review
This was a fun place to take the kiddos. They enjoyed the drive through safari part having the animals come to the car and being able to feed them and pet some. After we walked to the other area they pet the baby zebra and highland calf. They got to feed the giraffe and pet it. The staff was very friendly and informative.

Nice but not all I thought it would be. And there's a concessions booth that's been closed apparently for quite a while. If you're in the area... I'd take the kids but I drove 2 hrs to get there - one time trip for me.

Went there yesterday with my family, a birthday treat. It was a wonderful day! The animals were fantastic! Should you readers be carnivores, this experience may change how you think about nutrition! The animals seemed to know and recognize that the humans glaring at them, had treats for them! They're smart and quite friendly! They all approached, knowing they would be fed! The ostriches walked right up to the window with beaks wide open and the same for the bulls! Should we be eating things that are that smart?! Something to be considered next thanksgiving!😀 One small detail; All tours now must be on the bus and personal vehicles are no longer allowed on the route. Enjoy!
Rebekah B — Google review
I went there looking for bracelets only but they only had one type so that was a little disappointing. The animals are great to check out tho. That's the only place I've ever seen a Zorris.
Stacie — Google review
It’s an adventure. Get up close and personal with the animals. Watch out for the camels. They want the food and they will get it. They will stick there entire head and neck in your vehicle to reach it. If you don’t mind a little camels slobber, not a problem. The giraffes are very friendly.
John B — Google review
I went on 11/05/23 around 2:30 P.M., and it was the most fun and exciting zoo experience ever! The camels are very aggressive...lol There was a camel that literally took a cup of feed from the floor of the truck by my feet. Lol I was a little terrified, but my reaction did not freak it out at all...it had a mission, and it took the cup without spilling any of the feed. Lol!!! You will enjoy yourself here. I intend to go again. It is very affordable, too. I believe $8.00 or so per person and $4.00 for the cups of feed.
University A — Google review
Small but it's a fun place to visit. Love the people who work here and care for the animals. Drive through carefully and hold onto your cups tightly!😂 The camels will try to climb into the car and steal the food pellets🤔😉🤪😄

Paragon Casino Resort

Casino
Casinos & Gambling
Traditional rooms in a glitzy casino resort with a concert arena, 2 pools & 8 bars/eateries.
We visit this place 2-3 times a year! The Paragon Casino has something for everyone of all ages. The rooms are reliably clean, the staff is always professional and kind. I have the best casino host Preston, he makes sure the red carpet is laid out for me and my family. Every morning we went for a walk through their beautiful park, we went to the movies as a family. We played bingo, and we did the virtual golf games. This place is a little off the beaten path, but we always enjoy our stay. It's worth the 5 hour drive.

Rooms are clean but the bathroom area could use more attention. My commode didn’t smell the best. However I love their table games (blackjack)! Still gives you a fighting chance with the 2 decks! Plus they will feed you well. One of my favorite places to go

Attended the LSFMA conference there & had an awesome time. Didn't/don't gamble so can't vouch for the casino but the lunch they catered for the conference was some of the best brisket you'll find. Just attended the classes during the day & dinner somewhere in the resort each night with some reps with 1 of the sponsors. I parked my truck Wednesday when I arrived & never seen it again until time to leave Friday afternoon

My stay was great. It was my first time staying and I loved it. Beds and pillows were comfy. Room wasn't cleaned thoroughly but that's OK. I bought my backup cleaning supplies as always. Loved the big television. Ac worked great. Staff was caring and polite. Kids were making noise down the hallway but that stopped before I got to bed. Loved the alligators.Live it has a theater, gym, and pools. Machines were not loose but overall I enjoyed my ine day stay. I will be back soon. Birthday is creeping in and paragon will be my go 2 place. ❤️❤️

NO. The hotel here sucks. Outdated, dirty, and lousy janitorial service. We get in our room and there is no shampoo, or body wash and one bath towel, hand towel and wash cloth. Someone brought them up later, but that was unacceptable. Then we have to dispose of two large roaches running around the room. The breakfast buffet was a joke. $14 for the same breakfast you get at any chain hotel in the country. This hotel has zero customer service and are only in it for the money. It's trash and a huge waste of money.

stayed at the RV park in the first part of July for the" summer special" that they have running, which is $9.99 a night! but what they failed to tell you is there's" resort fees". And the manager at the RV park is the one that checked me in it was her first day back from vacation and she really didn't wanna be there but what she did was failed to tell me about the extra charges. Which is an additional seven dollars a night whether you use the pools or not you're $9.99 a night ends up being almost $20 with tax and everything everything which still is not bad but they should tell you that when you're checking in with your credit card!!! something I was planning on paying a little almost $30 for for three nights ended up being almost $60 for three nights

Got in the hot tub and it was cold! Shower in our room was leaking and the shower door kept sliding back open! Body wash container which let me say looks like a nice brand and does smell great was empty! This is not the same paragon it was 10 years ago! It has def gone way down! And prices just keep going up! The buffet food was either over fried or cold I normally don’t leave negative reviews but for the money I’m spending here I expected more!

Marksville State Historic Site

Temporarily Closed
Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
Transporting myself back to the days when the Ancient Mounds Trail Museum in Marksville, Louisiana, was in full swing was a journey through time and culture. The exhibits showcasing the unearthed pottery from the Indian burial mounds, dating back to 100 BC - 400 AD, were a mesmerizing window into the past. It's disheartening to learn that the site is now closed, especially considering the wealth of historical treasures it once housed. The displays of pottery added an extra layer of connection to the lives of those who lived in that era. I find myself yearning for the days when the museum's doors were open, allowing the public to marvel at the tangible remnants of our heritage. Reopening the site to the public, perhaps with a walking path integrated around the Marksville Mounds, would not only revive the historical charm but also offer a delightful experience for visitors. Picture strolling through the serene beauty of Louisiana nature, absorbing the history embedded in the mounds, and perhaps even promoting a healthier lifestyle for those who enjoy walking. In conclusion, the nostalgia of the Ancient Mounds Trail Museum lingers, and the prospect of reopening it to the public, coupled with a walking path, holds the promise of a five-star attraction. Let's bring back this historical gem, allowing both history enthusiasts and nature-loving individuals to relish the unique blend of our past and the beauty of Marksville. 🏺🌳 #MarksvilleHeritage #WalkingPathRevival #HistoricalJourney

This historic landmark should be properly cared for and reopened to the public. The site has so much promise… it just needs a little TLC.
Trent G — Google review
Mr. Jennings, the director, gave us a personal tour of the museum and a personal outdoor description of the site. This is a very important archeological site for Louisiana and the operation is totally underfunded and needs new AV and print collateral. We were in Alexandria and drove over for the afternoon. We didn't see a single directional sign for the site and our GPS took us through an urban residential area to get there. The walking tour was excellent but signs and the stops along the circuit need improvement to tell the important story of the Hopewells in mid America.
Talbot W — Google review
I went there today around 12 PM. The gate was closed, even though the hours are listed as being open during that time. Tried calling multiple times, no answer. We came back an hour later to see if they were just on a lunch break or something, but the gate was still closed. We tried calling again and again but no one ever picked up. So we drove 3 hours to see nothing.

It's been a very, very long time since I visited a place where I learned so much and genuinely wanted to stay longer. If you're at all interested in the history of the area or the economy of cotton and slavery, it's a must.

This was definitely worth the visit. Lynn, the tour guide did an outstanding job. We learned so much and had a lot of fun! The price for tickets is reasonable. The lady that sold us the tickets in the store area was super friendly and helpful. I wish we had more time to visit.

A vital historical stop on a music-history tour. The 19th-century cotton plantation covers some 1,800 acres, and through our friendly, knowledgeable tour guides got a close-up view of what that life during that time was like. The church setting featured lovely singing, the cotton fields were beautiful and hot (random note: don't step on the fire ant hills), and the old cotton gins have been meticulously preserved (and the new technologically superior ones are quite impressive). We saw slave quarters and reveled in the stories of plantation life.

The tour guide, Lynn, & the store clerk, Carolyn, are very nice & knowledgeable. The store & the setting are picture perfect! I recommend a visit, but you may want to call ahead to give them details: your eta, what is of greatest interest to you, & how much time you'll have. The "Then & Now" tour is listed on the website as 1.5 hours, but it could take way longer. I set aside two hours, hoping to tour the old cotton gin, watch the film on modern cotton ginning methods, & drive to the new facility. During our two hours, we browsed around the mercantile until the tour guide was available, toured the old cotton gin (fabulous!) & watched an historical film (30 minutes) detailing the history of the area & past/present owners. After the film, we had to leave & the group walked to the outbuildings in the field. I really don't know when the "Now" part of the tour was going to start. The tour guide offered a sincere apology & complimentary future tour, but we won't be going back in the area. Glad that we toured the cotton gin (such a treasure!), but the historical film & the walk to the outbuildings should be last, optional for those with additional time.

Very interesting place in regard to the history of cotton production, ranging from slavery to industrialization, presented by an excellent, very engaged tour guide. When being around Natchez, a place you must see!

I didn't know what to expect since we've Travelers too many plantations over the years. This is a working plantation and I learned so much about the cotton industry and how it was the lifeblood of the Natchez economy. The owner and other guides have a huge knowledge base and love to share. It was a morning well spent.

Excellent tour! The tour guide was very informative and entertaining. The tour was about an hour and a half in length at the historical site and then directions were given to the new cotton processing facility where you could drive through. Well worth the $20 tour fee!

What can I say! It's all been said in the other reviews. Thank you Shaun for your warm welcome and personal touch in your museum which makes it an outstanding music museum and proves that small can be more than beautiful. Don't forget to hop in with the Arcade next to the museum. (See photo)

Very pleasant visit. The museum hostess was very eager to tell us all about Jerry and the two cousins. Afterwards we visited the arcade next door. Viewed artwork guided by the artist himself. A small but very nice museum to visit.

It's small, but it packs a massive punch. Master of ceremonies Shaun Davis is a music lifer who deftly told the stories around this Ferriday, LA gem. Hometown of cousins Jerry Lee Lewis, Mickey Gilley, Jimmy Lee Swaggart, the museum also features various artifacts of everyone from Fats Domino and James Burton to Pete Fountain, Elvis, Clarence "Frogman" Henry, Percy Sledge, Aaron Neville, Irma Thomas, and Tony Joe White of "Polk Salad Annie" fame. A former post office is a proper monument of where so much of our musical melting pot came from.

The museum is in the former US Post office in Ferriday, LA. The arcade side was closed. They have memorabilia from multiple blues singers and they show a program. The largest collections are Jerry Lee Lewis, Mickey Gilley and Jimmy Swaggart since they're from the area. The tour guides were nice and knowledgeable. Free entrance - donations welcome. There's a gift shop too.

Quick, free museum if you are passing thru Ferriday and have some interest in Jerry Lee Lewis. Friendly curator in a WPA post office.
