Mosaic Canyon Trail

Mosaic Canyon Trail is a 4-mile in-and-out hike located west of Stovepipe Wells Village. The trail begins with a 0.25-mile stretch leading to dramatically narrow canyon slots, showcasing polished marble walls carved from 750 million-year-old rocks. While the first half of the hike is family-friendly and features beautifully smooth canyons, it becomes more challenging as it progresses uphill and opens up to wide sandy-walled canyons.
Excellent and very scenic moderate out-and-back hike that's not difficult unless you have a problem with climbing (there are several scrambles that require pulling yourself up over modestly high rocks). I strongly recommend trail or hiking shoes. Highly recommended.
Scott — Google review
Very unique area with beautiful rock formations. Not hard at all, however many areas have no shade at all so it gets really HOT during the day. We were the only ones there for a long time and it was so peaceful and incredibly quiet.
Alexandra D — Google review
It’s very hot on this trail. Saw a few dead birds. Not sure what got them but it may have been the heat. Wouldn’t walk here alone. Well. I did. But turned back after half a mile cause of the heat.
Matthijs — Google review
A pretty neat hike. About halfway through, you'll need to do some minor bouldering. If it appears like the path is blocked, just follow the arrows made of rocks. They'll point you in the direction of a detour
Jeffrey V — Google review
This is one of the best trails I ever hiked. 4.1 miles total in and out and constant grade except for 5 or 6 scrambles we had to climb over, but most we just slid down on the way back. Our group was all over age 70, and we all managed fine. We didn't even have hiking poles. Once you reach the scrambles, don't get discouraged - you'll thank me later. The slot canyon walls are simply beautiful!!
Robert H — Google review
Pretty awesome place. Not sure why anyone would give this less than 5 stars lol. Dirt road to get there. Not too rough and only about 2 miles to get to. Beautiful canyon and lots of colors and views.
John N — Google review
Nice little hike. A few sunny (hot) sections even in the morning hours.
Daniel B — Google review
The first half of this hike is five stars, the second is forgettable. It's a one-way hike so most people turn around after the canyon opens up and the marble ends. Bring a lot of water. The hike into the canyon is slowly going uphill. It's so slight that on other hikes you might not even notice it. However, in heat of over 90 degrees it seems exhausting!

Zabriskie Point

Zabriskie Point is a must-see destination in Death Valley National Park, offering stunning views of the hilly badlands and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. It's a popular stop for many visitors to the park, with a hiking trail leading to Gower Gulch and Golden Canyon accessible from the main trail. The area has historical significance dating back to the California Gold Rush era when borax mining was prevalent.
This place is stunning, amazing views, but please remember to bring water, it's very hot (the hottest place in the world) was 127f when I was there. Make it fast take some pictures, and get back to your car (and make sure your car has good AC)
Eilish W — Google review
I woke up very early to be here for sunrise. I thought I would be all alone, but there were around 100 people there as well, but all were very nice and we had good conversations while waiting for the sun to greet the day. Death Valley at sunrise takes on a magical feeling, well worth getting up early to see.
Dan Q — Google review
We arrived about 30 minutes before sunrise and stayed well after sunrise to watch all the color as it filled in over the surreal landscape. Amazing experiences here, including some unexpected ones. Not only did we see the sunrise but the full moon was setting at almost the same time. And if all that wasn't enough, a random act of kindness was also experienced as a very nice man was handing out sunflowers to women during the sunrise. I will never forget how special that morning was at Zabriskie Point.
Jill B — Google review
Zabriskie Point is one of the absolute must-see spots in Death Valley. The view is stunning—like standing on another planet. The badlands stretch out in layered shades of gold, brown, and red, with the Panamint Mountains in the distance. It’s especially magical at sunrise or sunset when the light hits the hills just right and everything glows. The walk up from the parking lot is short but a little steep, so bring water and sunscreen, especially in the summer—it gets brutally hot. Even though it’s a quick stop, the view is unforgettable and totally worth it. If you’re driving through Death Valley, don’t skip this. It’s one of those iconic views that really captures the surreal beauty of the park.
Nook H — Google review
Zabriskie Point is one of the most beautiful and breathtaking spots in Death Valley! The views are absolutely stunning — a true masterpiece of nature. It’s a must-visit place for anyone traveling near Las Vegas. However, I’d recommend avoiding summer visits, as the temperatures can get extremely high and make travel uncomfortable. Be sure to stay hydrated and plan your trip accordingly. Truly an amazing experience and one of the most unique landscapes you’ll ever see on Earth!
Hari K — Google review
A beautiful spot, great views. No tickets or national park permit was required, but could be due to the time of the year.
Samrat B — Google review
This is one of the best places for sunrise view in the park. Make sure to get there early, see from blue hour to sunrise and golden hour, can last 2-3 hours. If you have time, you can also hike the trails which will bring you closer to the scienary hills and landscape. See the beautiful pictures I took there.
Ken X — Google review
The landscape was truly impressive, with its dramatic ridges and rich desert textures stretching as far as the eye can see. Even though it was a very cloudy day and the colors weren’t as vibrant as they would be under sunlight, the view was still striking in its own way. The muted tones gave the scenery a soft, almost surreal atmosphere. On a clear day, I can imagine this place looking even more colorful and breathtaking. Despite the weather, it was definitely worth the stop.

Darwin Falls

Mentioned on

Waterfall
Nature & Parks
Darwin Falls is the highest waterfall in Death Valley National Park, standing at 80 feet. Accessible via a moderate 2-mile hike with an elevation gain of about 450 feet, it takes around 2 hours to complete the out-and-back trail. Located near Panamint Springs Resort on the western edge of the park, this lush oasis and flowing waterfall offer a stark contrast to the surrounding arid landscape.
Darwin Falls in Death Valley National Park is an incredible place to visit. I went in November of 2022 after the heavy rain storms and it was fantastic. Seeing an oasis with a rushing waterfall and creek in a dry desert was amazing. The hike was maybe a mile or so long from the parking area and was a little wet and muddy due to the recent heavy rains but well worth it. Highly recommend if visiting Death Valley.
Brendan K — Google review
Around 7mi hike because you have to start from the road because car access to trailhead is closed due to runoff. Water is cool!
Jose V — Google review
Hidden gem in the middle of the desert. Such a surreal and stunning place! Takes quite a while to get there (the 2mi road took us >30 min due to its condition) but it's so much worth it! Since this is an important ecosystem for the animals around, please treat it with respect and care!
Sarah — Google review
The falls at the end of the trail are awesome. However, for the adventurous a bit of rock climbing will take you to the upper falls which are spectacular.
George — Google review
Unexpected, year round waterfall in Death Valley. Easy, level hike, about 1.5 miles with quite a lot of shade. However, there has been a rockfall close to the waterfall blocking the path. The waterfall is only accessible via a serious scramble over the rocks and is not possible for folks with limited mobility.
David H — Google review
The fall isn't too big but still worth the hike there. It's a mile hike, can be tricky depending on the route you take
Yea W — Google review
Who said there is no water in Death Valley. More than ever, please respect this rare oasis, stay on the trail, watch for the vegetation. Please Leave No Trace!
Marcin D — Google review
The 2 mile gravel road was horrible. Very rough and difficult to maneuver. There was enough parking. The path started off easy, but ended up challenging. We had to climb up steep rocks to get to the falls. It would be a challenge for someone with mobility issues. The falls are smaller than pictures show, so a little underwhelmed. Beautiful trail overall, just more difficult than expected.

Bodies of Water
Badwater Basin, located in Death Valley National Park, is a salty drainage basin that sits 282 feet below sea level. The area offers the Telescope Peak Trail, a challenging 14-mile roundtrip hike from Mahogany Flat Campground to the summit at 11,049 feet. This trail passes through alpine meadows with spring blooms and ancient bristlecone pines, offering panoramic views of Badwater Basin and Mt. Whitney.
Lowest place in the United States. It is very flat, with many areas having almost the same low elevation. In a cliff behind the parking lot, there is a sign that shows the sea level height. There is also an outhouse to go to the bathroom.
Joshua — Google review
Badwater Basin is one of the most iconic and surreal places in Death Valley—and the lowest point in North America! Standing 282 feet below sea level on that vast salt flat feels like stepping onto another planet. The white salt crust stretches endlessly in every direction, and the patterns on the ground are wild up close. It’s an easy walk from the parking lot to the basin, but the farther you go, the more dramatic and quiet it gets. Just be very careful in the summer—the heat is no joke. Bring plenty of water, wear a hat, and try to go early in the morning or near sunset when it’s cooler
Nook H — Google review
If you’re in Death Valley, how can you not visit the lowest point in North America? It’s just surreal and beautiful in its own way.
David S — Google review
It was early September and the whole valley was still very dry and hot 🥵 not to mention this lowest point in the continental of United States! We got up at 5:00am and drove here to view the beautiful sunrise! Booked the Ranch at Death Valley which is very convenient to visit the attractions in the park 🙂
Yriver — Google review
Badwater Basin was one of the most unique places we visited during our USA trip. The landscape felt otherworldly—the vast salt flats and surrounding mountains create an amazing view that’s hard to describe. Walking on the cracked, hot ground was such an interesting experience. It was quite windy when we went, so we couldn’t stay as long as we wanted, but it was absolutely worth the visit. A must-see if you’re in Death Valley!
Halide E — Google review
Salt deposits cover the area looking like snow in the desert. The still water at the end of the short trail makes for awesome reflections. Time it with sunset for an amazing view.
KICKING C — Google review
Pretty amazing to visit the hottest place on earth! What looks like snow is vast swaths of salt, crunching beneath your feet and reflecting back the scorching sun! There’s a cool sign that points out your below sea level which is just incredible to imagine! Try not to venture too far away from the “boardwalk” path as it can disturb the natural ecosystem but definitely walk out far enough to witness the cool geometric patterns that grace the “sea” floor.
Janis O — Google review
Hottest place on the planet. Nice to walk down to the salt and feel the heat.

Lookouts
Dante's View is a stunning viewpoint terrace in Death Valley National Park, offering breathtaking vistas of Badwater Basin and the surrounding Panamint Mountain Range. The easy, paved drive to this location takes you through fields of wildflowers in the spring, leading to a wide lookout with benches and moderate trails. Visitors can enjoy spectacular views at any time of day, with sunrise and sunset being particularly remarkable. Additionally, stargazers can marvel at the exceptional visibility of the Milky Way on moonless nights.
A fun drive up that culminates in a short section of 15% grade lead to an absolutely stunning view of the surrounding landscape. The sunset here was amazing! We were there in early January and while the temperature itself was mild, the winds were strong and a bit biting so layer up if you go during this time. Best sunset we caught in Death Valley.
EMARS77 — Google review
One of the most incredible sunsets you will ever see, We stopped by to see the sun going down and it was awesome, I highly enjoyed seeing the sun reflecting through the mountains
Maria A — Google review
Dante’s View offers an absolutely breathtaking panorama of Death Valley, even on a cloudy day. From this high vantage point, you can see the vast salt flats stretching across the valley floor and the rugged mountain ranges rising in the distance. The landscape has an incredible sense of scale, and the contrasts of color and texture are striking. Unfortunately, it was quite cloudy during my visit, so the scene wasn’t as vivid as it could be. On a clear day, with full sunlight bringing out the bright whites of the basin and the rich tones of the surrounding mountains, this overlook would be truly stunning. Even so, it was a memorable and impressive stop.
T T — Google review
Breathtaking views of the mountains surrounding badwater basin! The sunsets were beautiful as well! It can get really windy with a windchill factor so get some layers or a windbreaker. The road to get here is paved, so it was an easy trip if you're coming from Zabriskie Point. Parking is plentiful. Restrooms are available.
Joe H — Google review
One of the best parts of Death Valley. Definitely our favorite. The drive is neat as it’s a steep long winding road. The parking area at about 5,500’ above sea level has an amazing view of the valley below. It will leave you speechless. There are also a few trails that allow you an even better view of the valley. If you go to Death Valley do not pass up on this one. Make sure your car isn’t a beater and is in good condition. There was evidence of a car that caught fire in the parking lot..
J. S — Google review
PARKS ON THE AIR! The YL and I took a drive out to Death Valley NP (US-0021) today. We set up at Dante’s View a couple thousand feet above Badwater Basun. Fun fact, it’s also the overlook that was used in Star Wars when Luke and Obi-Wan were looking out over Mos Eisly. Thanks to the 20 something hunters that got this bucket list park activated.
Bud T — Google review
Dante's View is the best overlook in Death Valley National Park, offering breathtaking views that will leave you in awe. It stands at about 5,476 feet above sea level, directly overlooking Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America, which is below sea level! On the opposite side of the valley, you can see Telescope Peak, the highest point in the park. If you enjoy photography, be sure to visit at sunrise or sunset for extraordinary opportunities to capture stunning images. Many photographers I’ve spoken with believe the best time to take exceptional photos at Dante's View is in the morning when the sun rises in the east. However, if you're interested in stargazing, visiting Dante's View at night with a telescope can also be a rewarding experience. Visitors often overlook Dante's View since it's a bit isolated from other attractions in the park. If you are staying at Furnace Creek, it’s about a 45-minute drive to reach the overlook. Coming from the east side, it takes approximately 35 minutes from the Amargosa Opera House. The road is accessible to all vehicles, except for the last section, which is closed to larger vehicles like RVs. The parking lot at the top is quite spacious, and during my six visits, I have never seen it full. There is a one-mile trail along the ridge that is suitable for all skill levels. If hiking isn't your thing, you can simply stroll along the designated sidewalk by the parking lot, where you’ll find plenty of excellent viewpoints of the valley and the surrounding mountains. In addition to its stunning vistas, Dante's View provides a cooler respite from the intense heat experienced in the valley below. Due to its higher elevation, temperatures can be significantly lower, making it a more comfortable spot for those looking to escape the desert sun. For geology enthusiasts, the views from Dante's View offer an excellent perspective of Death Valley's geological features. You can observe the distinct layers of rock formations and the vast salt flats of Badwater Basin, which reveal the valley's ancient history. Wildlife lovers might also enjoy a visit to Dante's View. While Death Valley's harsh environment limits the variety of wildlife, resilient species such as lizards, birds, and even the occasional bighorn sheep may still navigate the rocky terrain. Whether you’re a photographer, hiker, geology buff, or simply someone looking for an incredible viewpoint, Dante's View in Death Valley National Park has something to offer everyone. Be sure to include it in your itinerary when visiting this unique and awe-inspiring park.

History Museums
Maturango Museum is an educational museum that offers a glimpse into the history of the Mojave Desert, featuring exhibits on early settlers' daily life in the Owens Valley. The museum also provides petroglyph tours and has a gift shop with resources for travel. Visitors can explore authentic structures filled with artifacts depicting the lifestyles of past homemakers, artisans, and townspeople. Additionally, it offers insights into local history, wildlife, and art.
Free to look around the gift shop. We paid $5.00/person for the exhibits. The exhibits (animals, rocks, ecosystem, plants, insects, borax mining history, etc) are well presented. I like the pictures and story about the PCT trail. The outside of the museum has a lot of benches and lots of photo ops.

Stopped in during a roadtrip along the 395. One of the best regional museums I’ve been to! Informative and fun to wander through and see their displays. Cool gift shop and well maintained building and grounds. Nice pit stop to take a break from the heat.
Adrian S — Google review
We came here to escape the heat and was pleasantly surprised. Great artifacts and information. The woman working is named Nora and she was so friendly and gave us great places to explore around the area. There were great brochures and information you can take with info on hiking, camping, bird watching, etc. Their gift shop was also very cute

This museum displays information about nature, the type of plants appropriate for the desert area, utilizing xeriscaping. Also, for me, the most important information here is the petroglyphs.

As the Activity Director at High Desert Haven Assisted Living Facility, I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Maturango Museum and their incredible staff and volunteers. They visit our facility every month, bringing thoughtful, engaging, and well-prepared activities that our residents absolutely love. The care and effort they put into each visit truly shows, and our residents always look forward to their time with the museum team. It's more than just an activity — it's an experience that brings joy, learning, and connection to our community. Both our residents and staff at HDH are so grateful for their continued partnership and dedication. Thank you, Maturango Museum! ❤️

If you're stopping in Ridgecrest on the way to somewhere else, I highly recommend stopping here. It's a wonderful, educational place that tells a lot of our history. Learn all about the petroglyphs, animals, & natural wonder of the Mojave Desert. It's very kid-friendly with exhibits they can touch. There is also lots of options in the gift shop. Stop on by & bring the whole family.

We love our local museum. It is small, but it has a lot to offer the community. We appreciate the children's activities that they hold monthly, and the other evening events (including star gazing events). We are lucky to have such a great place in our small town!♥️
Christina M — Google review
Very small place but had some nice artifacts of the town and its history. Photography room was played out a bit oddly alongside the small corridor with more information. The animals and display of minerals was nice with an area for kids to interact and play. The gallery room was full of art that was interesting. I wish the gift shop sold key rings of the metal men outside.

Love the beautiful colors of these rocks! Very impressed with what Mother Nature has created over time. Well worth the stop if you're ever passing through.
Sam T — Google review
On Memorial weekend, we're decided to explore California sceneries, took a long drive from Fremont to Red Rock Canyon State Park. The Red Cliffs Nature Trail and the Hagen Nature Trail. These sceneries were so beautiful. We visited in the afternoon and in the morning to see with both morning light and afternoon light. They're both wonderful to see. From the Bay, Apple Car Play took us on 101 instead of 5. It was hot but not too bad. We booked a place to stay in Mojave CA-56 and Highway 14, it's only 24 miles to the trails. We started at 11AM and got to the trails at 5PM. Red Cliffs Nature Trail: It's the first one on the right from highway 14 north and it's so windy in the evening, the wind practically blew us away, the rocks formations are so unique, the color was so beautiful, we keep looking at all the rocks and mountains. Hagen Nature Trail: as soon as we drive out to HWY14, the trail is on the other side, we need to turn left to park. The rock formations over here are different. From here, we can drive to Ricardo Camp Ground, but we didn't stay. California is beautiful and we will try to see all the nature beauties that it has. Next stop, Sequoia Grizzly Falls.

The rock formations are very unique. Unlike anything I've never seen. There are giant stretches of the rock formation. There are some good hikes. The views at the top are breathtaking. You can also go camping here. An amazing place to come and see nature.

Absolutely gorgeous rock formations! It's right along SR 14, you cannot miss it. Plenty of parking on an unpaved road. Restrooms are available but there's a nicer (and cleaner) one with running water at the visitor's center on the other side of SR 14.

These views are UNREAL!😍 Went with my family to explore and we deff did not leave disappointed! Such an amazing experience to be able to see this up close💯 We will never forget this trip and pics/videos could never do it justice!

GMA#3 Magen Smith Red Rock Canyon State Park is famous for its breathtaking cliffs, vivid rock layers, and striking desert landscape. The towering red and white cliffs are made up of sedimentary rock formations that formed millions of years ago from the accumulation of sand, silt, and volcanic ash. Over time, these sediments were compacted and cemented, preserving a detailed record of ancient environments, including rivers, lakes, and desert dunes. The colorful bands in the canyon walls represent different geologic periods, showing how Earth’s surface has changed through erosion, climate shifts, and tectonic activity. Red Rock Canyon State Park - California Department of Parks and Recreation I chose Red Rock Canyon State Park because it connects directly to what we studied in Chapter 6, pages 10–12 about sedimentary rocks as the “archives” of Earth’s history. The park’s layered rock formations record environmental changes and preserve fossils that tell scientists about life and conditions millions of years ago. By studying the color, texture, and composition of these sedimentary layers, geologists can interpret how erosion, weathering, and deposition have shaped the Earth’s surface over time. This real-world example demonstrates how sedimentary rocks serve as a natural record of our planet’s past environments and life forms.

This place is surreal with limestone formations created by rain & wind. It is stunning with red and white sediment layers. You’ve never heard a place so quiet. Plenty of campsites with bathrooms and water. The view is stunning & you have to hike a bit to see even more of the park. Joshua trees thrive here. I highly recommend. Great place for star gazing.

Borax Visitor Center

Museum
Visitor center
This place was great! I had no idea that ore was mined here for borax. You get to stand next to a dump truck and one of their tires to get a good idea of how large the machinery is. Definitely worth the trip. You will actually drive through the mining camp to get to the visitors center.
Laura H — Google review
Free admission. Marlon, one of the tour guides, explained and answered our questions about borax mining and borax uses with humor. We found out the meaning of the sign 37 1/2 mph speed limit posted on the road to the museum. There is a mining viewing area outside the museum. There is also a display of a big tire and giant dump truck outside. This is a must-see museum if you're in the area.

Very fun and interesting place to learn about this huge industrial operation. The exhibits, the video presentation, and the employees all made me feel like they're passionate about what they do, despite how much the recent tariffs are hurting then. If only I could have seen more of the place up close, but what you can see from the top of the hill is still mighty impressive.
Peter — Google review
I visited this open-pit borax mine yesterday and learned that borax is such an important mineral; it's a component in many of the products we use in our daily lives. The products in the photo all use borax, and they don't even list its military applications. The museum guide was very enthusiastic and proactively explained the uses of borax.
Ping O — Google review
The visitor center is nice & has some interesting information, but the view overlooking the open pit mine is truly impressive. The staff are friendly & informative. Our 12 & 14 year old sons enjoyed it- especially the huge dump truck. NOTE: The road leading up to the visitor center is steep, curving, dirt road! It was intimidating , but I made it up & down fine in our conversion van & travel trailer.
Uprooting C — Google review
This place is a great road side stop! You have to drive right next to the plant and up a steep dirt path to reach the visitors center. It's intentional because from the top you can see the mines. The museum is so worth the visit.
Rosemary B — Google review
Interesting museum, excellent video and great views of the mine. Samples of ores available for souvenirs.
Maria C — Google review
The visitor center was closed when I went there and there is nothing else to see as a visitor. You can see the huge factory in the middle do the desert from outside and there’s an old railway train which seems interesting but apart from that it was pretty uneventful. You can go near the factory up to a certain point and then you’re not allowed to go any further. Good detour from long driving if you need to park somewhere and have a quick bite, they have a big parking lot to rest

This is a good stop to relax and use the restrooms. For a long journey towards LA. We started from Las Vegas and after traveling about 250 km. In 2.30 hours we reached at Barstow. It's basically a junction for trans American railways. We stopped there for restroom break. But it has got all eateries, shops and clean restrooms large parking space. Nice sunny and breezy. You can see many passenger and cargo trains pass by. Such towns are God sent for the road travelers. Nice little town.👍🏻👌🏼

A little hide away of food in one stop. There is a McDonald's, Panda Express And Subway. Just to mention a few of the food restaurants. Plus don't forget gift shops too.

An interesting spot in the desert. Several fast food options, and some gift shops. The replica rail car dining rooms are cute, but also attract the homeless. The bathrooms were not the best. A good place to get a bite to eat or catch a bus, but don't stay too long.
Thomas G — Google review
We’ve always stop here for about 20 years. Great place to stop if you have a large grill or picky eaters because there are a variety of options for food. It’s also a good places to stock up on road trip supplies like activities for the kids, snacks, and last minute gifts and souvenirs. The bathrooms are usually pretty clean but a little dated . It’s a really unique stop because it’s a former train station and cars that have been converted. Popular for buses though so it can get busy

Outlets at Barstow

Mentioned on

Outlet mall
Shopping
The Outlets at Barstow, also known as Tanger Outlets Barstow, is a popular shopping destination featuring a wide variety of brand-name and designer outlet stores. Visitors can explore an array of stores offering clothing, accessories, and more at discounted prices. The mall is home to well-known brands such as Nike, Coach, Calvin Klein, Vans, and others. Additionally, the outlets provide amenities like multiple vending machines and water sprinklers for a comfortable shopping experience.
Great selection of shops seeming out in the Californian desert. Plenty of parking and convenience of restrooms, vending machines and benches scattered around. A good variety of budget and luxury shops, all offering competitive pricing. Well situated just off of Route 66 and a great rest stop when making the drive from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. Would definitely recommend stopping by for a look around.
Gabriel C — Google review
Overall, Barstow Outlets is a solid stopover if you're looking to grab some deals or just stretch your legs during a road trip. Not a destination in itself, but definitely worth checking out on the way. Barstow Outlets is a convenient shopping stop if you're traveling between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Located just off the I-15, it's a smaller outlet center compared to big ones like Ontario Mills or Desert Hills, but it offers a good selection of popular brands like Nike, Coach, Levi’s, Guess, and Michael Kors. The atmosphere is laid-back and generally not too crowded, which makes browsing and shopping more comfortable. You can often find good discounts, especially during holiday sales. That said, some stores may feel limited in variety or stock depending on the season. There are clean restrooms and plenty of parking, which is a plus. Food options are minimal though—mostly fast food or vending machines—so it's better for a short shopping break rather than a full day out.
Lim Y — Google review
The Outlets at Barstow offer a convenient shopping stop for travelers with a decent mix of brand-name stores and free RV parking. While it’s easy to access off I-15, the food options are limited and its got some decent stores despite being a smaller outlets compared to LA and Vegas.
J C — Google review
Great variety and it makes a nice stop on the way back to Vegas. The best part is you can pull up directly in front of the store you want, pop in and pop out. No need to meander through an entire mall to get to the 1 store you want. Ariat seems like a new addition 😍
Vegas H — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is a truly great outlet! 🛍️ We had such a good time shopping here. Old Navy was our favorite — friendly staff, great deals, and a really nice atmosphere. Ralph Lauren was also good, though unfortunately there weren’t that many deeply discounted items. They’ve got Samsonite, Levi’s, and pretty much everything else you might need — all in one place. Definitely worth visiting if you’re looking for good brands and solid prices! 👕🧳💸
Alexey C — Google review
Great deals on Van's and many to choose from.

Great halfway stop to Las Vegas for restroom break and lunch. We packed lunch and stopped here to eat. Picnic tables outside the restroom and inside the lounge. Better than stopping at rest area.
Gomarketingsuccess D — Google review
I will start by saying no where near the number of stores that used to be here when the outlets were behind these on the other side of the road. OK yes I am dating myself. You got good exercise. The number of stores is growing here now. They are nice stores here. Keep in mind not all of the stores are actually an outlet. But this place is still worth the stop if coming or going from Vegas or if you live in the high desert. Lots of good places to eat around the outlets as well. Like the original Del Taco. Yes much better than the chain stores.

Unique pitstop featuring many tree-shaped sculptures made from glass bottles & vintage items.
I've seen pictures of this places but totally forgot where it was. I was driving down Route 66 and saw it and had to stop by! There are soo many bottles and tons of fun things to look for. I played "I Spy" with my kids. It was really fun. Highly recommend stopping by on your way north or south on I-15. It's only about 5 minutes from the interstate.
Adam C — Google review
Cool place to checkout if you're out this way. It gets hot so make sure you have some water. A hat and sunglasses are advisable if sunny. The artist is super creative and the place is entertaining. We had a good time looking at all the different sculptures created out of the glass bottles and metal.

A fun stop on Rt 66! There is plenty to look at between the antiques, bottles, jeep and signs. The owners do an amazing job maintaining the lot. This particular stop caught my attention during the drive with the sun going down and it hit the bottles just right with all the different colors.
Melissa T — Google review
Went out of my way to see this unique attraction along route 66. I have been to a similar rock garden, but obviously this place uses bottles. They had unique artifacts such as an antique fridge and typewriter. There is a donation bucket a little further into the attraction, so if you like it and want to keep it going I'd recommend making any donation. Spent about five minutes there, didn't see anyone other than a couple of visitors. Just stop here, it takes a few minutes and is uniquely weird.

Did a quick visit on this place our way to Las Vegas, its unique, excellent artistry. I was amazed on someone would take time to collect bottles and antiques and turn it into an awesome art. Nice place to take selfies. Family enjoyed our time.

Such an unexpected little gem. We came across this while driving along part of Route 66, went for a wander and loved it!
Phil M — Google review
Located right on historic Route 66, which I-15 replaced, this is a really quirky and fun stop. It’s free and also really creative and shows artistic skill. Was built by artist Elmer Long who started in 2000 with his first tree and now there are over 200. Sadly he passed away in 2019 but his art remains. It is now owned and operated by his family so when visiting please be respectful because you are on someone’s private property. The gate was open when we arrived, and there was only one other person there taking pictures. There are all sorts of little things to see within the bottle trees, and it was a nice stop during our journey. There’s plenty of parking right out front, but as mentioned, I would make sure to not leave anything behind or play music too loud because you’re right in front of and on someone’s property. I would definitely recommend and would stop again next time I’m in the area.

A nice homage to the old road. Expect some authentic nostalgia plus fun history thrown together and you’ll be happy to have visited. There were a few nice surprises too, such as a Cars poster signed by the voice actor for the Sheriff.

Beautiful place to come and visit. Totally worth it even though it's not as big as a huge museum, but the history and stories in there make this place unique. No fee to get in, donations gladly accepted! I'm so glad we stopped, it was a very cute and interesting museum, full of California history! Kids loved it too, so many things they had no idea were common in our homes back in the day! The ppl working/volunteering there were friendly and knowledgeable! We had fun!

This museum was a fantastic stop for my family and I. It is free to visit and was filled with multiple historic artefacts from the route 66 past. The shop was also excellent, it had keychains, magnets, T-shirts, caps, stickers and signs. I highly recommend buying a piece of memorabilia. The museum itself was very interesting and told the story of route 66 very well. There was lots of history vehicles and signed posters which was great to see l. The staff were also fantastic. They were friendly, informative and welcoming and went the extra mile to give us suggestions on where to stop next. I highly recommend visiting this shop/museum if you are driving past it.

We stopped here on our way to Vegas. It is free. The staff is very welcoming. We got many souvenirs from there at very affordable prices. The place has so much history to show. Kids loved the cars displayed there. There is also a train station just opposite to the museum. Luckily kids got to see two trains during the visit.

We arrived just as they were opening and were ushered in by a gentleman with a HUGE smile on his face! All the docents were so helpful! They were obviously excited to be there and ready to share their knowledge. So many fascinating things to see. There is a nice selection of items (shirts, stickers, memorabilia) for sale. As with other reviews, we were initially concerned about the people hanging around near the parking area. They did not bother us at all though and were gone by the time we left. So happy we took the time to stop here.

Nestled in Big Bear Lake, the Big Bear Alpine Zoo is not your typical zoo. It serves as a refuge for wildlife in need, rehabilitating orphaned, injured, or imprinted animals with the goal of releasing them back into their natural habitat. Since its establishment in 1959, this non-profit organization has been dedicated to caring for local species like bald eagles, black bears, and arctic foxes.
This was such a cute zoo!! 10/10 for sure. The animals looked happy and you could even see some trainers feeding and helping the animals throughout their space. Overall my family and I had a great time. My daughter in specific wanted to visit a zoo for some time now and she was very happy how the animals looked well kept. We also got to learn about skunks and it was very informative per one of the trainers.Cant wait to visit again and bring my older daughter to experience this zoo herself !See you next time!!!
Celiboy V — Google review
This is a wonderful place to visit, regardless of whether you live in Big Bear or just here for a visit. And if you have children, they will love the experience. According to what we read online, this zoo is one of two Alpine zoos in the United States, which provide a refuge for wild animals that cannot be released back into the wild for a variety of reasons as well as specializing in the rehabilitation and release of local Alpine species. They also offer educational training programs, special events and exhibits concerning their mission. There are restrooms onsite along with a gift shop and free parking. Just beware that the zoo does not open until 1000 hours, and in the warmer months, you might not be able to see many of the 190+ animals they have since it is sometimes getting too hot during the day. We will try again this fall when the weather is cooler. We did, however, get to see a wonderful bear education demonstration with one of the trainers and Eleanor, what an informative speech by the trainer. We even witness just how fast a bear can move, which was an eye opener for all of us present. We highly recommend this zoo for people of all ages and appreciate all the staff in their efforts to care for these animals and educate the public.
Thomas B — Google review
Visited the zoo for the first time and LOVED it! We spent about 2 hours at the zoo, casually walking around to learn & observe the animals. The bears, especially the grizzly, were the best! Caught most of the presentation on the skunks which was super interesting. The little skunks were fun to watch scurrying around for the meal worms while the docent shared a wealth of info. At the end, we decided to become annual members so we could visit the zoo & Big Bear more often. The cost of 2 adult tickets was $34 ($17 each), but you can buy a couples pass for the year for just $90. Looking forward to our next visit!
Tanya N — Google review
We visited on a Friday afternoon. Upon a recommendation by a local cashier, we visited around feeding time (2pm-ish). Although it is a small zoo with only locally indigenous creatures, every animal was out and visible, some moving about, some lounging. Gift shop prices were reasonable, compared with other gift shops. The premises were clean and festively decorated for the holidays. Also there is a $1 discount ea. for a group of 10 or more.
Valerie K — Google review
Not a huge zoo but perfect for a quick outing with little ones. Plenty of room to look at the animals. We never felt crowded. Everything seem well maintained and the zoo grounds were clean. Plenty of parking. Clean restrooms.
Marianne — Google review
This little zoo is very sweet, a fun little outing with the kids. My only suggestion is to go early in the morning when it’s cooler and when the animals are awake. We made the mistake of going in the heat of the day and many of the animals had found their shady spots, I don’t blame them! Definitely worth a visit!
Barnum A — Google review
Not disappointed at all! All of the animals were well taken care of. Even in the summer they had misters, fresh water and shade for all animals. Everyone looked well fed and happy and thats what I look for in a zoo! I understand that all animals were rescues which I love. 10/10 Zoo better for kiddos.

Very small zoo, $17 for adult but probably perfect for little kids cuz they have a cool playground in between. Hard to see some of the animals through the wire cages. And a few were deep so you couldn't see them at all from walkway

The resort offers over 240 acres of skiable terrain catering to all skill levels from beginners to advanced riders.
Ever since the park was upgraded it definitely became better. It also costs a lot more than it used to for a lift ticket but the amenities are better as well. I've been snowboarding here for decades at this point and recently started mountain biking. Overall the park is great. The staff are also good, maybe a little grouchy or standoffish at times but not enough to write home about. Overall a great place for all seasons and will be back.

Went up the "scenic sky chair" lift as a summer activity while on vacation. If you are on vacation and looking for another activity to do with the kids. I paid $86.00 for three adults and a 12 year old to take the lift to the top. We were hoping to do some hiking but there were only two trails available and they are not shaded so we didn't do much. There is a restaurant at the top and food options but it is also a great place to just bring a picnic and enjoy the views. During the summer it is a huge mountain bike area and almost all of the people going up where bringing their bikes. The basic ticket only allows for one round trip. I wish it was unlimited as the views coming down are awesome.
Adam W — Google review
Everything was a great experience! Parking guides got us in a space quickly. Getting our tickets and bikes on the lift was a breeze. Awesome variety of trails to ride on well marked trails. The good is reasonably priced for being at a resort and better than most places I've experienced. I'm already looking forward to my next trip here

We had a great time at Above the Boom! It does get a little chilly. So, as they recommend, dress in layers. Also, even though it said no food and drink. A bottle of water and maybe some kids snacks seemed acceptable. They were not overly strict. We supported them purchasing our tickets, and additional beverages including water.

We always come here whenever we visit Big Bear. The resort offers year-round outdoor activities. The things you do here are unlimited, from skiing and snowboarding in the winter, to mountain biking and hiking the rest of the year. There are several different dining options from fast-food to more upscale bars and restaurants (opening times vary with the seasons). One of the activities we like to do in the spring and fall is taking the chairlift to the summit and enjoying the view while eating lunch. There is plenty of parking along with a multitude of stores, ski/snowboard rentals, a child amusement center and plenty of trails for biking and hiking.

Terrible experience. Came here from Vegas for my son‘s birthday. Got a rental bike and immediately first run down the brakes are already worn down and just super loud. I took a relatively easy way down and when I got to the bottom I noticed one of my spokes had come out. My chain also came off but I didn’t notice it until my second ride down. So I’m just trying to get down the mountain at this point cuz I can’t pedal and then I get down and they tell me the derailer needs to be replaced and I can pay $110 to get my bike back. And I’m like all of this happened on one ride down and now I have to pay $110 after already having paid $200 for the day. I fought it so hard, spoke to every person there that I could about getting my bike back or at that point just getting a refund and leaving, no leniency whatsoever. The bike rental experience there was absolutely miserable, the bike i was given was terrible. Do not rent from this place. Also, my son’s ride card was deactivated at one point and we had to go back to the ticket booth to get a new one. last so much time just trying to get going. If I could give negative stars I would. Spent all this money to come up here just for the bike to break down after one green run.

The bike repair shop did a great service for my bike! Joshua found the problem, repaired it, and explained how it should be shifting. Took it for a test ride and shifting was perfect! At a fair price!!! Thanks guys!

Lake Gregory Regional Park

Nature & Parks
Nestled in the San Bernardino Mountains, Lake Gregory Regional Park covers 84 acres dominated by a man-made lake surrounded by pine trees and trails. The park offers various outdoor activities such as swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, and biking. Visitors can enjoy the swim beach and engage in water activities like kayaking, paddle boating, and float tubing. Additionally, there are dog parks throughout the area making it a pet-friendly destination.
I travel around the world frequently, and this park with its beautiful lake is truly a gem. The walking trail circles around the lake for 4 miles, offering a refreshing experience. Many people come here to fish, while others enjoy the park with their dogs. It’s a stunning piece of nature with fresh air and a vibrant atmosphere. There are restrooms located at specific spots throughout the park, and the parking lots are spacious and easily accessible. This is one of the most beautiful parks and lakes I’ve ever seen in my life, right in the heart of nature. I genuinely loved this place – it’s absolutely worth visiting!
HAITHAM A — Google review
I absolutely love this lake and it’s become one of my favorite getaways. One of the best things about it is the trail that loops around the entire lake, complete with workout stations along the way. There’s nothing better than stopping mid-hike to get in some pull-ups or a quick stretch while taking in the lake views. I also love coming here to paddle board. The water is usually super calm, which makes it perfect for a relaxing paddle or even a picnic on the board. There aren’t many motorized boats around, maybe just one or two small ones at most, so it always feels peaceful and safe. There are lots of people fishing, too, which gives the whole place a laid-back, friendly vibe. And when the summer heat kicks in down in Riverside, this lake feels like the perfect escape. It’s cooler, breezier, and feels like a mini retreat just a short drive away. If you’re looking for a spot to work out, paddle board, or just unwind in nature, this lake is definitely worth a visit!

I went there the day after Labor Day this year and had the lake to myself. They have kayaks, paddle boats, paddle boards and power boats for rent. The whole place was so serene and you could hear nature all around you without motors or other distractions. For parking, I recommend getting the app that they link on their permit to purchase time. I needed to add more time and it was easy to do it from the kayak instead of going to the parking lot. The park is well kept and they have plenty of activities for you to do even when the water park attractions are closed. Enjoy nature. 🌲

We had a great time at Lake Gregory with friends. We arrive around 9am to get parking in the main lot and get in line. When the gate opened we were in a good position to place our tent in a prime spot. Since we were meeting friends, we connected two tents for everyone (about 30 people). We headed straight for the water course. Those who get in early before max capacity is reached don’t have to wait in line and they get to stay out longer. As the park reaches full capacity, they make the overflow wait in line and limit sessions to 30 minutes. One word of caution. If you are an adult, it doesn’t take much to launch your child (see video). My child won the belly flop contest, but was comforted by the cool video our friend took. Food is edible, they run out of ice cream flavors early and bathrooms are a longish walk from the swimming area. There is a slick of sunscreen on the water from all the bodies in there’s This is not the place to go for a quiet, pristine beach day. This is a fun place for kids and groups!

A nice spot for a fun day trip with the kids or dogs. If parking at the main parking lot, you will need to pay. Additional fees if fishing or boating. There are other areas of the lake that are accessible if you park along the side of the road. Dog park, hiking trails, beach area & restrooms are also available. Family friendly.
Naomi C — Google review
The kids had a ball, except The lake should limit how many tickets they sell. It’s $33 dollars for the day to use the bouncer and the slide and there are so many people that you have to wait 30 minutes in the sun in line. When they are at capacity. So either lower your price or control the crowd that is allowed to be on the lake. Parking is horrible. Lots of walking. Food was good and restrooms were clean. We will definitely go again but rethink how we go about it.

🏞️🐾 Lake Gregory – Crestline, CA 🐾🏞️ Loved this place! 💖 It’s super pet-friendly 🐕🐾, perfect for an easy scenic hike 🌿🚶‍♀️. The lake is beautiful 💦🌤️ and there’s so much to do — you can kayak 🚣‍♀️, paddle board 🏄‍♂️, or let the kids enjoy the water park 🎉💦. Whether you’re here for a day of adventure or just to relax by the water 🌊☀️, it’s the perfect mountain getaway. Plenty of fun, fresh air, and gorgeous views! 🌲✨

A very serene little lake! Peaceful, quiet, well managed, with an easy short ~1.5mi hike around it and a boat rental facility. We went out of season. It's a hidden gem that we enjoyed a lot more than lake Arrowhead, which is a crowded tourist trap lined with docks instead of ducks! I expect late Gregory might be more crowded in the summer when they have the floating bounce castle. We went in October.

Tukut Lounge at Yaamava' Resort & Casino

Lounge
Casinos & Gambling
Tukut Lounge at Yaamava' Resort & Casino is a vibrant dance club and lounge that offers nightly entertainment, including comedy, music, and salsa dancing. Guests can enjoy live performances by various bands and DJs while sipping on perfectly crafted drinks served by friendly waitstaff. The lounge provides a great atmosphere for socializing with friends or meeting new people. However, some visitors have expressed concerns about the limited seating and small bar area.
Had such a fun night tonight with all the ladies having a good time there. Much love to all of you & GOD Bless

I mostly love the Tukut. I love all the servers, DJ's, entertainers, and everyone who works there. One reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the price for the tables is exuberant (imo). $75 for a table for two is not reasonable. Friday nights feel different now. It's not terrible, and they do have some really good cumbia bands, BUT the atmosphere is not as vibing. Some ppl go upstairs to the Chingon because its free cover charge, and it's free seating. Maybe they don't care? Same management? At the end of the day, it's a business to make money. That's understandable; I just don't think that upper mgmt thought about how some of the loyal regulars would interpret their price hikes... I probably will always still visit, but Tukut does not offer more than other casinos. For example, the Saboba and the Pechanga both have dance places that offer free cover charges and free seating so if I can, I'll drive there instead. As a matter of fact, the dance floors at other venues are bigger and roomier. That being said, overall the Tukut is still a good place, especially the ppl who work there. I find everyone to be polite and helpful. You'll also find forever dance friends that go often. Just be prepared if you tire easily, because you'll have to fish out money just to sit. As a side note, it's also hard to contact them and they don't always respond to email. I'm now giving Tukut 5 stars because they recently stopped charging for their bottom tables and to me, that says a lot. Thank you mgmt. I appreciate that very much! Much love to Tukut!!

Never met a man who’s so disrespectful and impolite and Ignore me just because I have 15 mins before close time. His name is James . Super disgusting and disrespectful. I had the guys that fix the beers Sergio before him . They called him and he walked up and said I’m not serving you. What kind of employee does this: he hid behind the bar after asking his name multiple times .

We were there Saturday September 28th, 2019. 10 dollar cover charge with players card. Limited seating and the BOE (Best of everything Band) was great. DJ Gary is one of the better old school DJ's that you will find. We had an Excellent night out! Will be back to visit soon.

I love the Tukut Lounge!! Please bring back The Reel Band on Saturdays!! And the DJ that was there when they performed on Saturday, May 20, 2023! Great Band! Should be on the rotation for Saturdays and not just for Karaoke, What a waste! The 2 solo/leads were OFF THE CHAIN!! May I also request The BIG BAND ON SATURDAYS AS WELL. They were there in 2022, about a year ago and haven’t been back since. Thank you, 347806, Diamond

Horrible. Went for what I thought was a free concert then found out we had to pay a fee. Super Small area. I was willing to pay the fee but then was told that I was not allowed in because the dress code doesn’t allow sandals without a heel strap… RIDICULOUS!!! It doesn’t even say anything about their dress code on their website OR at the place!!!!

Pretty awesome place. Youve got the Library to study at, the gym to workout. Then there's my favorite bar at dog house with a good bite to eat. The bass pro isn't far away and the movie theater is always an option too. Plenty of parking and plenty of stores to visit.

Good place to walk and shop with family. During the Christmas season they dispense fake snow in the central plaza and place a ginormous Christmas tree with lights all around. Open late good selection of restaurants and fun activities around.

This is a fantastic outdoor mall location. Well placed with a great mix of classic well known shops, great eats and mom and pop shops. There is a theater and plenty of sitting areas, parking and fun things to see. There are surrounding stores and restaurants to visit as well. Ample parking and close to freeway.

High-speed racing venue where visitors can drive or ride along in an authentic NASCAR vehicle.
Went to a race in February of 2023 and it was a fantastic experience. Besides getting in which was just waiting in a long line of cars, the racing experience itself was fantastic. The food options were endless, there was a pretty solid selection of merchandise. It was a very entertaining race and the best part was Kyle Bush (the winner). Definitely sad they’re turning it into a short track, but still happy I was able to see track before the renovations. 10/10

Raging Waters Los Angeles

Temporarily Closed
Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Large, popular water park with dozens of slides & attractions, plus an area for tots & a sand beach.
Raging Waters exceeded all our expectations! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by how clean, organized, and welcoming the park was. The variety of attractions is incredible there’s something for every age and thrill level. My kids couldn’t get enough of the massive water slides and wave pools, while the more relaxing areas gave us adults a chance to unwind and enjoy the day too. The lifeguards and staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everyone was safe while having fun. Everything was well-maintained, which really shows that the park cares about its guests. The only downside was the long lines at the food stands, so I recommend bringing snacks or planning ahead. Overall, Raging Waters is the perfect spot for families, friends, or anyone looking to beat the heat and make unforgettable memories. We had an amazing time and can’t wait to come back!
FlorenTina P — Google review
We had a great time! The lines moved as we expected for a Saturday. The slides were super fun! Loss of star for two attractions being closed. The drop out slides and the pool where the Lilly pads are. Food was good, lots of choices for all lifestyles. Overall a great time!
Cara R — Google review
I visited the water park recently, and unfortunately, the overall experience was quite disappointing. The park feels very outdated — a lot of the infrastructure looks old and definitely in need of renovation. The rides themselves were okay — nothing too special, but they did the job. Unfortunately, it was hard to enjoy them because the waiting times were extremely long. We had to wait between one and two hours for almost every attraction, which really tested our patience. There was hardly any shade or seating in the waiting areas, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. Overall, the visit was underwhelming. For the price, we expected a lot more — especially better crowd management and perhaps some more modern attractions. If you’re planning to visit this park, be prepared for very long wait times and a rather outdated experience.
Michael P — Google review
A place that’s even better than I expected. Although the ticket price is a bit expensive and comes with various additional fees, buying a ticket that includes a meal makes it relatively more affordable. There are all kinds of water slides, and it’s a great spot to visit occasionally during the summer. Just be careful of sunburn and slipping.
Hogan — Google review
My family had a blast at Raging Waters.💜We visited September 7, 2025. The parking was $25 and you ride a shuttle to the park. The ticket line wasn't long you scan it at a kiosk. The lines were kinda long but not as bad as some say. There is something for everyone to enjoy. Will come again next summer!
Sena A — Google review
This review is based mainly on hygiene, food, and amenities. The park all in all needs a good cleaning. Since there aren’t enough places for people to settle their belongings, nor for grandparents to rest while waiting, one must search for an empty little corner, but what one can find is trash, food containers, and forgotten items. Not very welcoming for the elderly that just go along to be with family. The bathrooms are filthy and the stench of urine is terrible. Power washing is not enough with the amount of people they allow in. There are many good cleaning products for example Ajax with beach, Clorox, etc. and the work wonders when used with a brush. The food, we paid ahead with the ticket and we regretted it. First, the wait in line at Sharky’s was 45 minutes!!! For nasty, extremely salty hard french fries and dry chicken tenders. The waffles were toasted and there is nothing other than catsup for the $16 dollar average size hotdog. We only rode 3 slides, visited the beach and river for 20 minutes each.
Jacqueline H — Google review
Was a pretty cool water park. Gotta get there early to avoid the lines. Parking is a rip i think . $25 for general parking which is like a mile away. You have to take a tram to the park. Or 75$ for preferred parking which is right next to entrance.
Chris B — Google review
There are a lot of different rides and slides, which makes it fun but you will always have to wait long lines (unless you have the expensive VIP tickets). It would be a 10/10 experience if we didn’t have to spend 75% of our time waiting in the lines. The staff were very friendly and helpful. You can rent the overpriced lockers to leave your belongings. There are plenty of showers and bathrooms.

Factory Outlets
Upscale outdoor shopping center featuring high-end designer fashion outlets, plus casual dining.
ดีมากๆ This outdoor shopping plaza is absolutely stunning and perfect for a sunny day out. Surrounded by beautifully maintained palm trees and stylish architecture, the atmosphere is both luxurious and relaxing. The plaza features high-end brands like Jimmy Choo and offers plenty of shaded seating areas for shoppers to rest and enjoy the surroundings. The open layout allows for a pleasant walking experience, and the fountain in the center adds a refreshing touch. It's clean, elegant, and ideal for both shopping and simply soaking up the vibe of a chic, desert-modern lifestyle. Highly recommended for fashion lovers and those who enjoy a bit of luxury!

These outlets are next to each other premium desert hills outlets and the cabezon outlets. Lots of different stores to do your shopping for all budgets. A few restaurants and eateries along the way. Plenty of parking but can get busy. You'll find some discounts in some of the stores. The premises are kept neat and clean restrooms available too. A nice walk with beautiful views of the mountains and sunset. Some art work throughout. Will definitely return.

Beautiful outlet that we randomly decided to stop buy on our trip back from Palm Springs glad we did much nicer than the one in camarillo which was really surprising very clean huge variety of stores might be my new favorite outlet to go to now!

Last time I visited this place was 2015, how time flies! It is completely different now and I do think the selection of brands shrinks quite a bit. I’m here for the billabong outlet shops but unfortunately it is closed but not correctly marked in google maps. I hope there are more shops for food and drinks. The Starbucks gets overcrowded because a lack of coffee shops & bubble tea shops. It gets overheated at noon and it’s easy to get dehydrated. When everyone wants a iced drink Starbucks become almost the only shop that you can get a refresher from
Roceley L — Google review
Desert Hills Premium Outlets has all the major designer stores — Gucci, Chloé, Celine, Tom Ford, and more — so it’s a great place if you’re looking to do luxury outlet shopping. Some stores had long lines while others had none. We came across the Valentino store, and it was the only one where the front security wasn’t pleasant. There was only one customer inside, no line at all, yet he still told us to “wait in line” because they were helping someone. It felt unnecessary and a bit rude, especially when the store was basically empty. It came off like he just wanted to make people wait to feel important. Because of that, we decided not to go in.
Minty F — Google review
First time visiting. Lots and lots of stores to shop from very enjoyable to walk-through especially at night time. Lots of restaurants and parking spaces as well. They even have a McDonald’s close by and it’s a great for kids because they have tablets on the tables for them to play with while the adults catch a breather. I highly recommend it now we return.

Cabazon Dinosaurs, also known as the World's Biggest Dinosaurs, is a vintage attraction featuring enormous replicas of famous dinosaurs like Brontosaurus and Tyrannosaurus rex. These iconic structures have been featured in various media and are a popular sight for the millions of people who drive by them each year. Located on Morongo Band of Mission Indians land in Banning, this cultural center offers artifacts, a native plant garden, and rotating exhibits highlighting Indigenous communities.
Such a great place to stop and spark the imagination of the children! Cabazon dinos are lifesize with a splash of color, making for fun pictures. There’s a small store inside the brachiosaurus, prices are reasonable and we were able to get some souvenirs that kept the kids talking about the place for the rest of the roadtrip 😊

Been over 30+ years that I was in this area based at 29 Palms, used to drive by Cabazon all the time. Back then the dinosaurs were the original color that was in the PeeWee movie. Today, it was a must that the family stopped by to check out the dinosaurs. New paint, and a cool exhibit of over 20+ dinosaurs when you pay to enter in order to climb into the T-Rex mouth. Very cool shop inside the "Long Neck" dino, where you purchase your tickets. Breanna was super nice. Lots of trinkets and gifts to choose from. The other shop at the exhibit walk thru is cool, much more to choose from. Really nice place to spend some time. We were in a bit of a time crunch headed back to AZ, but for time we spent, was well worth the stop.

When one of your best friends says, "Oh man, you haven't been to Cabazon? We need to go,"—listen to them. I’m so glad I did. Visiting Cabazon was a truly unique, one-of-a-kind experience that I’ll cherish forever. The main attraction? Two giant dinosaurs—and yes, you can actually go inside them. One houses a quirky and fun gift shop, while the other is a massive T-Rex that's repainted for different seasons and holidays, adding a playful and ever-changing vibe to the visit. Beyond the iconic dinosaurs, I really enjoyed the outdoor enclosures you can walk through. The flowers and vegetation were unexpectedly beautiful, adding a peaceful, almost whimsical backdrop to the prehistoric theme. The dinosaurs throughout the grounds looked well-maintained and in great shape, which made the whole experience feel more immersive. Overall, Cabazon is more than just a pit stop—it’s a nostalgic, creative, and fun detour that’s worth making time for. If you're driving through on your way to California, don’t miss it.

Just do it, it's right off the highway and even if you don't go in it's a great old world roadside attraction to get a modern selfie with. Perfect for a text or social media update I'm sure your friends will enjoy. They're very well taken care of. The fresh paint really pops. My wife didn't get the point but knew I was enjoying the break from driving and let me have my fun.

This place is totally cool. LOTS of dinosaurs. You can easily spend more than an hour there. Be sure to climb up inside the T-Rex and roar! Very friendly and helpful staff. I may be in my seventies, but I want to have my birthday party there.

I just love the Cabazon Dinosaurs where the famous scene from the 1985 movie Pee-Wee's Big Adventure was filmed at and today's the day of the 40th anniversary when it came out on August 9th, 1985 with the late Paul Reubens. Of course, the World's Biggest Dinosaurs are the best attractions that many parents and children would ever visit! I can imagine making friends with Mr. Rex and Dinny when I was a little kid somewhere between 2005 and 2006. I remember when I first came to Cabazon Dinosaurs where my parents took me and my sister Marina here and all the moments are refreshing my sweet childhood memories.

Cemeteries
Riverside National Cemetery, located near the March Field Air Museum, is a significant resting place for veterans. As the third-largest cemetery operated by the National Cemetery Administration, it offers solemn grounds and ample space for eligible members of the armed forces to be buried. Established in the mid-1970s and spanning 1,250 acres, this serene site opened on Veterans Day in 1978 and now holds over a quarter of a million graves.
My mother's Air Force funeral service was exactly what she would have wanted. It was dignified and paid honor to her time serving her country. I especially want to thank Ester, who works for the cemetery. She was professional and made us all feel respected. The Air Force representatives who folded my mom's flag and saluted her were women. It warmed my heart to see that, because I know it would have made my mom proud. I especially loved it when Ester announced that my mom's military service paved the way for future generations of women in the Air Force. THANK YOU!

It is "closed" after sunset, but that's because the cemetery is largely unlit by any man made sources of light (except around the buildings and on the flags which are lit). Just stars, the moon, and any ambient light from the main streets outside the cemetery. We left after twilight and the gates were still open for people to enter and visit their loved ones. No one was chasing people out. At least not too quickly.

Beautiful place. Full of history. Full of Hero’s. I understand this place has 320,000 veterans resting here with capacity to hold 2 million. Their Medal of Honor Memorial is simple and very humbling. The names of every Medal of Honor recipient etched into their marble walls. My uncles name is on the wall and my father and father in law are buried here. This place is humbling. The aircraft from March Air Force Base next door fly over this place and adds to the pageantry. When the flags are placed on all the grave sites on Veterans Day, it is a site to behold. I get overwhelmed with the feeling of pride. There is history here everyone should visit and experience regardless of having family placed here or not. I hope you will visit. On weekdays there is plenty of help and the place is well organized. They have a 6 staging areas for services. The guard at the guard shack will direct you. BUT, On the weekends the offices are closed. If you don’t know where the gravesite is you are visiting, the best bet is to go to the offices. They will be closed but there is a kiosk next to the front entrance that can direct you to the gravesite. They will direct you to a “section”. But the sections are not clearly market out. And It is a large place so patience is a nessesary. After you find out the section you Then download a map on your phone from the official website to find the area. I have run across a few people who were frustrated trying to find their family grave sites. So try to find out all the information you can before you get there on the weekends. Or best bet is to plan on going during the week when the offices are open. Good luck.

Absolutely gorgeous grounds, very peaceful and serene. It would be nice if location (section) markers were a little bit more visible, but I understand they are trying to maintain the natural beauty of the land.

The Riverside National Cemetary, located in Riverside, California is a terrific visit for the family, patriots, families and tourists to the area! Riverside National cemetery is home of the Medal of Honor Memorial and one of four sites recognized as a National Medal of Honor Memorial Site. The Medal of Honor Memorial, whose walls feature the names of all medal recipients, is located at the third traffic circle in the cemetery. It was dedicated in 1999. The Fallen Soldier/Veterans' Memorial, erected in 2000, is dedicated to all service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country. The museum boasts an impressive collection of over 70 historic military aircraft, including rare operational jets. With more than 30,000 artifacts on display, visitors can delve into the rich history of aviation and explore exhibits dating back to World War I.
Very nice museum complex. Lots of inside exhibits and artifacts. They also have a very large collection of static aircraft on display. I stopped by on a weekday right at opening and had the place to myself for a bit. That staff and volunteers were happy to chat and were very knowledgeable.

We took our 2yo grandson to the museum and were pleasantly surprised on how engaged he was with the exhibits. We arrived at 10am and there wasn’t a wait to enter. Their main museum area is a huge hangar! Don’t hesitate to go through the hallways (AC was great!) for additional displays. We liked that the glassed collections were from floor to ceiling to allow little ones to view items. For viewing the outdoor planes & helicopters we wore comfortable shoes. Due to the warm weather we brought hats and bottled water.

Great museum! Many many aircraft, way more than I anticipated. Google didn't do it justice so I've added more pics. If you are into short wave radio, TV, and electronics check out their display devoted to their history. The SR-71 was really awsome. Many displays you can experience. Also displays of space hardware, U.S. and Russia.

All I can say is go and check this place out. If you love planes and military artifacts it’s a must see. The guys who work here are some of the nicest people I have met! Took my son who is 14 and we had a great time! The amount of things they have at this museum is unbelievable!! I would highly recommend a visit!! Thank you gentleman it was a pleasure!

The March Field Air Museum is by far one of the best museums I have ever visited. It's been almost 30 years since I last visited and they have definitely put a lot of love, dedication and pride into this place. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in our Air Force and military defenses. It's a great place to bring kids and learn invaluable history. 10/10 would recommend.

My daughter, her son and I visited on 9/27/2025 about 11:13a.m., they opened at 9:00. The man at the entry, taking payment, was super friendly. After we stepped out of the ticket area we were greeted by Fred, (maybe his title is docent?) He had a lot to tell about areas we don't want to miss, and a small, more personal, story, too. He was fun to listen to. He had a great sense of humor. My grandson is almost 4, so he was interested in different things than I was. His mom took him about, but we reunited in different areas. So much history in there! Then we took the tiny bus, $5 per rider. This man was amazing! He took us past each airplane on the field, describing the vitals & history of each plane, while adding a bit of humor on occasion. Great touring voice and so filled with info! It was a great tour! If you are a plane buff, but maybe don't know about ALL of these planes, it's a great guided tour. The bonus was no walking! 😉 Enjoy!!!

This has been a hidden gem of a museum. Went here on a whim, but I never expected to see so many and such big aircrafts up close. Could have spend days if I wanted to thoroughly see it all. I saw most of my favourite planes on display here, absolutely beyond my wildest dreams. (SR-71,B-17,B-25J) But the collection is far greater than that. On the outside of the museum there's more planes than I have ever seen together, and the bus tour is a recommendation. Have a chat with the staff and volunteers, they have great stories to tell, and real life experiences. The nearby active airbase also has some interesting activity. Inside there's a lot of history on display from all kinds of era's of aviation, from uniforms to replicas to actual spaceshuttle parts! Must see for any aircraft enthusiast.
Dutch D — Google review
Took my son over fall break and there's so much to see. The staff and volunteers were very knowledgeable and helpful. They have a little 45 min. tram tour around the outside planes for a small extra fee, but it was well worth it as the gentleman that provided the tour gave us so much information about each plane and it happen to be raining quite a bit outside. Its much bigger on the inside than you anticipate, with a NASA section, military outfits and so much more. There are flight simulators and even an old war plane where we had a gentleman by the name of Max who used to be a pilot for that type of plane instruct him how they would have taken off in that fighter plane. They also had a scavenger hunt that my son was quite invested in. It also looks like you can rent parts of the facility out for events. I would recommend taking the time to visit this treasure.

Fender Factory Tour

Permanently Closed
Musical instrument store
Visitor Centers
My wife and my son took me here for my birthday a couple of years ago. One of the most memorable birthdays I’ve had. When you’re a guitar nut especially a Fender freak like myself, visiting the factory where this iconic piece of musical genius is created is like a trip to heaven.
Jeff R — Google review
It is a hit and miss - I had a friend that liked his tour. But, for me, it was unforgettable in a bad way. I went to the tour in 2016. The tour guide (I wish I remember his name, but he can be seen in one of the pics, wearing a olive green shirt) was terrible! It looked like he hated that job, or he was replacing someone else. There is a wall with some historic guitars (including some early days Fenders), he didn't allow us to stop and see it. He was constantly ironic, sometimes impolite at people. He mocked my accent (I'm Brazilian) in front of people when I asked a question. He was rushing people. Despite that, I saw a Limited Edition guitar what was about to be launched and I asked if I could buy that guitar. But the purchase experience (with the same guy) wasn't nice, so I gave up. Also, when you enter the main tour hall, there is the ModShop room (place where you can assemble your own guitar, putting different parts together) and the professional on the charge of that room was also rude. Factory-wise: it's just a factory. Nothing different from other regular guitar factories. The pics I'm posting here can prove my point. Something good: at that time, there was a room with most guitar amps made by Fender, and anyone could give them a spin. On the other hand, there wasn't a lot of guitars to be played. Anyway, I used to be a Fender fanboy when I was a kid, and that tour was the last straw, shaking my relationship with the brand. This is my experience and I wish I had written it immediately after my visit. PS: the smile in one of the pics was taken before the tour, when I arrived at the facility.

Drove all the way from San Diego, Visitor Center closed. They should have listed it on their website CLEARLY. WE ARE CLOSED DUE TO COVID !!! The security guard that met us at the entrance said “I keep telling Maria to change that “ Very inconsiderate
Carol B — Google review
My 2015 Fender American Standard Stratocaster (olympic white) has aged nicely, however the polyurethane paint is starting to show through and I can clearly see that it has 4 pieces of wood glued together. IS THIS WHAT FENDER HAS BECOME??? Anyway it looks terrible, not the quality you would expect from Fender.
Giovanni A — Google review
Even with covid restrictions lifted fender does not want the public to tour. I don't want to buy from them then. No where was it listed they are closed to the public and they don't offer a phone number to call.

Awesome! Amazing to see the dedication and hard work that goes into every guitar and amp.

When you see the craftsmanship, it is impressive. My fellow Americans should see made in America at work.

Occasionally, a Japanese guide will be provided, but in general the tour will be guided by factory staff. Please note that you cannot enter with sandals. Leo Carrillo Historic Park, a 19th-century hacienda nestled in a meticulously landscaped park, is home to numerous wild peacocks. Founded by actor and preservationist Leo Carillo in the 1980s, it serves as an educational site for California's history. Visitors can take self-guided walking tours to learn about native plants, explore historic landmarks, and admire Spanish architecture at the Hacienda compound.
A true hidden gem. Seeped in history and serenity. Huge grounds for meandering around and lots of shaded areas for a relaxing picnic. Park volunteers are very knowledgeable and friendly. We got a nice tour of the structures and stables. Also spotted 3 peacocks strutting about.
Sunita V — Google review
Such a beautiful place to visit. So big and so much to see. I love all the plants too. There was a lot of spots blocked off and closed. There’s also wasn’t any peacocks to see which was disappointing.
Melissa B — Google review
A cute little historic ranch with some ties to old Hollywood. You can go inside most of the small adobes, take a short nature walk and see some wild peacocks on the grounds. There wre also pecial events, such as classic movie nights, which are free with reservations.
Jessica G — Google review
Their upkeep on the grounds is excellent both the landscaping and the housing. It's amazing you can walk around these grounds for free.

Do not miss this beautiful, well preserved ranch! You could easily spend 2+ hours here. Very popular for class field trips. Since there is a dirt parking lot (with at least 4 handicap spaces) they do close after heavy rains. Best to call ahead to see if they are open. Numerous clean, modern restrooms. Paths for wheelchairs are clearly marked. Areas for picnics are available to reserve, too. There are some elevation changes but manageable for most. Don't miss!
James B — Google review
It was fun to see the wild peacocks that hang out at this park, and learn the history of Leo Carillo and how this actor used this ranch as a second home to get away from Hollywood in the 1930s and beyond.
Bob K — Google review
I didn't see a single peacock here. This place is on tightly-packed dirt, so your shoes and the bottom of your pants will get dirty. You can see the historic home of the original owner, but sadly, you cannot go inside as they are locked and closed. You only see them from the outside. There is nothing to do here other than walk under the sun (hardly any shade), and that's it. They do have nice, clean bathrooms. I wouldn't recommend this place. Definitely not a fun place for kids, either, in my opinion. You can walk through this whole place in 15 minutes. The best part, for me, was seeing the plants.
Alex — Google review
Always enjoyed our visit here at the ranch! We started visiting in 2020 when the pandemic started. The ranch is spacious and open. This provides ample of distance between our family and others. There are many benches and tables for people to have a picnic and kids to run around. It was fun and educational to walk around and see the architecture of the houses. The best time to visit is March to June. One can hear and see wild peacocks in the ranch. Local residents may not like to hear them because the peacocks are really loud during mating season but it is a joy to many to see the beautiful birds. Did I say that these are wild birds? Please don’t feed the birds and respect their space!!!

Bernardo Winery, established in 1889, is the oldest operating vineyard in San Diego. This historic winemaking complex offers a range of experiences for visitors. Guests can enjoy wine tastings on the outdoor patio or take part in events such as the Sunset Art Walk, live music performances, and a weekly Farmers Market. The winery produces a variety of wines including Syrahs, Merlots, Chablis, Albarino, and Burgundy.
This charming winery, tucked away in a residential area of Escondido, truly felt like stepping into a secret haven. The old-town ambiance was charming, and the favorable comments we read online were spot on. The wine was exceptional, and the food was equally delicious. We were delighted by the complimentary chocolate pairings, a thoughtful touch. We tried their flights and went to the chocolate shop. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back. This is the kind of place where you could easily unwind & be relaxed, 😍. We're already planning our return. Btw, we visited on latte Dec.

Bernardo Winery offering a charming blend of history, rustic ambiance, and artisan shops. Its diverse selection includes bold reds, refreshing whites, and unique offerings. The wine tasting session is a must try, providing a great introduction to their best selections. Friendly staff enhance the experience with insights into the winery’s history. Light bites from the café pair well with the wines, while live music and events add to the atmosphere. A peaceful retreat with quality wines, it’s a must-visit in San Diego.

Bernardo winery is a wonderful place to spend the day. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, and it feels like a small village. The tasting room looks rustic, it is always cool inside, the staff if very friendly and knowledgeable. There i a gelato/sweet shoo, an Italian eatery, a coffee shop and various gift shops, too. The food from the Italian kitchen is outstanding; we especially loved the mussels and the Arancini.

Wonderful scenery, staff, and wine. On top of that, the food was perfect for a night of sipping and strolling. One of the best wineries we’ve been to on the west coast 🍷
Kayla C — Google review
We love the Bernardo Winery! It is one of our favorite places to relax for brunch or an early dinner. The ambience is unmatched. We’ve long since grown out of our college bar/party phase, so a visit here this is a fantastic way to decompress after a long week or to bring family and friends when they come into town. The food is excellent! The portion size for the fries is fantastic. I love to get a salad plus a side of fries to share with whoever I’m with, and maybe a pizza. The wine pours for the tastings are generous. The only thing I’ve ordered and not been crazy about was the bruschetta because it had olives and pistachio which I wasn’t a huge fan of. The best part about our visits to the Bernardo winery are walking around the shops after. It is incredibly romantic too! Especially during sunset. At night, there are outdoor heaters that make it very cozy too. If I could leave 10 stars I would!

I recently officiated a wedding at the Bernardo Winery. It was my first time to this venue and it did not disappoint! The grounds were beautiful and very private. The greenery was well kept and the ceremony area was beautiful. Loved the cocktail area, it was shaded and perfect for hanging out. What a great place to get married - thank you Bernardo Winery for a wonderful experience - I hope I am back there soon!

I really wish they would care about the customer experience here. It's such a beautiful winery, in an ideal location. I've personally been visiting for the last 15 years. Many additions have happened throughout that time but the dismissiveness of their employees continues. Specifically the employees in the tasting room, it seems as they are being forced to work there with zero enjoyment. That along with their food ordering system, table hunting, fetching your beverage from a separate building from someone who looks annoyed cannot be the final system - its a shame.

Sights & Landmarks
The University of California San Diego is home to the striking Geisel Library, designed by architect William Periera in 1965. The library's unique design has drawn comparisons to a standing tree or an alien spaceship, blending brutalist and futuristic elements. Additionally, the university campus features the Stuart Collection, which includes 20 large public art installations such as Fallen Star by Do Ho Suh and Sun God by Niki de Saint Phalle.
Proud to get my MS and BS in CS here. Food on campus is terrible. Prices are too high. Rents are high. Parking is awful. But I love the faculty and peers. Neither best nor worst memories in life. Moving on.

I recently visited UC San Diego and was truly impressed by the campus’s modern design, coastal beauty, and welcoming atmosphere. Nestled near the Pacific Ocean, the university offers a peaceful yet stimulating environment perfect for learning and exploration. I spoke with several students who shared how much they appreciated the supportive faculty and the strong emphasis on research and innovation. The diverse range of academic programs and interdisciplinary opportunities stood out as a major strength. Walking through the campus, I also noticed a strong sense of community and collaboration among students. Overall, my visit to UCSD gave me a deep appreciation for its academic excellence and vibrant, forward-thinking culture.

I've tried several times to attend in the school has been most accommodating. It's still not certain that I won't make it there. I have the grants I have scholarship offers. It's just finding the time. This is a school. I highly recommend you're close to the beach times and you have the wonderful scenery of California. Great vibes.

We came to visit. Ali, she was our tour guide. Fantastic, she gave us a good tour and answered all our questions. I am sure she is a success and will have great future. UCSD is a really beautiful campus set on the hills in La Jolla, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I’m serious, it’s amazing !The professors really do care about reaching each student and giving them the knowledge needed to be successful but the real feather in the UCSD cap is the RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES EVEN FOR FRESHMAN STUDENTS ! Great school, dedicated profs, Gorgeous campus, amazing diverse restaurants on campus, smart hardworking students and fabulous research opportunities. What more can you ask from a university ?? This place is Awesome.
Ted R — Google review
UCSD is intense, yes — but it’s transparent, professional, and genuinely student-focused. People here don’t just pretend to care — they actually help. I’ve met faculty who answer questions without ego, and peers who collaborate without backstabbing. That’s a sharp contrast to what I experienced at UC Davis, where there was a constant undercurrent of politics, fake friendliness, and silent pressure. If you didn’t play the game or flatter the right people, you were frozen out. Being independent or different at UC Davis felt like a liability. At UCSD, it feels like a strength. The difference is night and day. UCSD challenges you to grow. UC Davis challenges you to survive toxic dynamics. UC Davis wants prestige. UCSD earns respect. Let me be blunt: I do not want some dirt on my cloth so prefer to switch the cloth any way
C. — Google review
A wonderful environment to spend a day, even if you are not a student at UCSD. There is incredible architecture all around (hop on a campus tour if one is leaving soon). There are plenty of places to lounge around - indoor or outdoor. Make sure you visit Geisel library, great building and you want a pic with Dr. Seuss. Relive your youth here. :)

With over 60 habitats and tanks featuring creatures from the Pacific Northwest to Mexico, visitors can explore cold water species, tropical swimmers, fish, sharks, and invertebrates. The aquarium emphasizes conservation efforts and research on climate, ocean science, and biology.
Absolutely one of the best aquariums in the world! It's not the largest, but the variety is breath taking. Each display is FILLED (nicely) with different specimens. I can't label the photos I've included and are but a few that I took. One could literally spend an hour, or an afternoon with each display. The setting of the Birch is beautiful in itself. The place is specifically child friendly. The help is ready to help direct, to answer questions or just chat. The whole family loved it even the 3 year old. Upon making a reservation, you can choose a time in which to come, and that seems to help control the traffic. Best, great place and a must see if you are ever in San Diego

A great place to take young kids. This is one of the nicest aquariums I have been to. There is a lot to see and interact with and takes about 1-2 hours to go through it all. The penguin exhibit is very nicely done and it's fun to watch them swim around. Parking can be difficult on the weekends so it's best to come early in the day. There's also a discount if you buy tickets online ahead of time.

The Birch Aquarium is absolutely perfect for toddlers! We took our little one recently, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. Everything is so well designed for young kids, from the colorful exhibits and interactive touch tanks to the open spaces where they can safely explore and learn. The staff is incredibly kind and patient, always taking time to explain things and make sure the kids are having fun. The outdoor tide pool area was a huge hit. Our toddler loved watching the fish and sea stars up close, and the ocean view from up there is just beautiful. It’s the perfect mix of fun, education, and family-friendly atmosphere. We’ll definitely be coming back soon. It’s one of the best places in San Diego for curious little ones!

Went with my daughter. It’s a bit smaller than I expected, but maintained well and nicely curated. The marine life on display are fascinating and explained well. Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve, located in Santee, California, is an award-winning park and campground featuring seven man-made lakes that offer a range of outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, camping, and picnics. The site is family-friendly with multiple playgrounds and a Sprayground for kids. Fully stocked lakes provide ample fishing opportunities while gazebos offer picturesque lakeside views. The campground offers 300 full hookup sites with amenities like free Wi-Fi and cable TV options.
Very nice location, only tip I would include is be sure to bring a broom and dustpan and some sanitary wipes as there is a lot of bird poop everywhere, we had to spend a fair bit of time cleaning the space prior to the event. This is no fault of the space or the team, the whole experience renting was easy and well facilitated.

Great area for family. However they don’t seem to keep up with the playgrounds. They are covered in spider webs. A quick power washing would help this. From the of it it has not been serviced in a while. I would think to prevent spider bites for kids they would. Also 3 big wasp nest in the bathroom. Looks like they haven’t been cleaned from critters as well.

Our family has been coming here for about 4 decades. It's a nice place to take a walk and let the kids ride bikes safely. Lots of parks and overall pretty clean. One thing I have noticed on our last few visits was that it is becoming more evident that people live here full time. I don't care about someone's living arrangements, but it's a bit strange when it starts looking like a swap meet with random kitchen appliances laying around while the rangers tidy up and rake patterns into the lot next door. Also, I've never noticed people smoking before in the camping section, but this last trip, there were several.

Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve is one of the true treasures of East County — a place where nature, recreation, and community come together. Beyond offering beautiful trails, fishing, camping, and family-friendly amenities, their team goes above and beyond to support the local community. Their volunteer work and behind-the-scenes help with the Santee Street Fair mean so much, and it's just one example of their ongoing commitment to making Santee a better place to live and play. We’re incredibly thankful for all they do!

We just go to Santee Lakes for picnics, and sometimes to just walk around. There is an entry fee to park inside, but you can also walk in if you park out on the street close to the entrance. On some weekends it's actually easier to park on the street for free than to look for parking in the lake parking areas, so we usually just stick to the street parking. It's nice here, the lakes look clean, grass is nice and well maintained, and the bathrooms are good. I enjoy coming here.

The man on duty driving the parks truck on Sunday was way too aggressive and driving like a crazy person. He needs to relax and realize families are here to enjoy the park. I hope he’s not armed, he seems unstable. This was Sunday 9/7/25, 3:30pm

I've been to these lakes 5 times.. paid the fees to fish and never caught a single fish. I've come on the day after they "stocked" the lake.. or when they claim they stocked the lakes and not ever a nibble. There are way too much grass in the lake and not enough fish. I wonder if they even stock the lake when they say they do. I've fished lake 3, 4 and 5. I've done night fishing when they had it. I've tried all kinds of fishing styles. I might as well have drove up, thrown my money into the lake and gone home.

Last summer my grandkids wanted to try out fishing. I bought a pole for each grandkid and all I wanted to do was supervise and teach them how to fish. I did not have a fishing pole nor was I fishing. Why did I get charged an adult rate to fish, especially when lots of people sneak in without paying. Hmmm
