Dietrich Theater

Movie theater
Fun & Games
Theater showing independent films & current releases as well as playing host to workshops & classes.
We hosted my daughter’s birthday party at the Dietrich Theater and it was fantastic! They allowed us to bring in any movie of our choosing for a private viewing. We had the entire theater to ourselves. Each child received popcorn, a bag of M&Ms and the drink of their choosing. After the movie, they served pizza (it was from neighboring Samario’s, so delicious) and cake; they even ordered the cake with the coordinating Trolls movie theme for us. Ronnie and his staff were so kind and hospitable. I had to do so little, just show up with some decorations and party favors. The other parents that accompanied their children really enjoyed their experience too. My daughter and her friend had a blast, and for some it was their first experience at a movie theater. If you are looking for a place to host a party or just want to catch a flick, this theater is the ticket! It’s also worth noting their popcorn is the best!

We just visited for the first time for their winter film festival and had the best time. Lovely classic indie movie theatre. Really friendly staff. Great quality visuals and audio. Good selection of snacks and drinks. Such a reasonable price too for the movie and the snacks compared to the big chains. It’s a 90 minute drive for us but totally worth it. Definitely check it out.
Joanne D — Google review
Fantastic small town theater with 4-5 screens. It also serves as a venue for music and entertainment. Regularly shows classics and runs yearly film festivals.
Garth G — Google review
Take yourself back to Main Street Movie Night USA in style. The theater is beautiful and well-maintained. Affordable and tasty snacks. The original theater was built in 1936. It closed in the 1980s and was restored and reopened in 2001. A real gem. We were in town on the 4th of July with our 5-year-old and it’s the only thing open. It’s walkable from The Hampton Inn nearby. Would love to come back on a bustling evening sometime soon.

We saw the Nickelback documentary there tonight, and it was an amazing place. It was like stepping back in time to the movie theaters of old. Full of character, stylish and clean as a whistle. The staff were all dressed in nice clothing and so friendly. The snacks were reasonably priced and the seats are very comfy. If we lived closer, we'd go there often. Highly, highly recommend!

Ricketts Glen State Park

Mentioned on
1 list
State park
Nature & Parks
Ricketts Glen State Park is a stunning 13,050-acre natural wonder that boasts over 20 breathtaking waterfalls, including the magnificent Ganoga Falls. This park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering an array of activities such as hiking, fishing, and camping. With miles of trails to explore—like the D & L Trail stretching from Wilkes-Barre to Bristol—you can immerse yourself in nature while biking or hiking through picturesque landscapes.
Ricketts Glen State Park is truly a natural gem and an unforgettable hiking destination. I recently explored the Falls Trail, and it turned out to be one of the most rewarding hiking experiences I’ve ever had. The trail is beautifully maintained, and it immerses you in the heart of the park’s most stunning scenery. What makes this hike so special is the sheer number and variety of waterfalls along the way—22 named falls, each with its own character and charm. From the graceful cascades to the dramatic plunges, every turn of the trail offers a new breathtaking view. The trail itself is moderately challenging, with some rocky and steep sections, but it’s well worth the effort. The combination of rushing water, lush greenery, and cool forest air creates a serene and refreshing atmosphere. I especially appreciated how close the trail allows you to get to many of the falls; in several spots, you can stand right at the base and feel the mist on your face. It’s the kind of immersive experience that makes you forget the outside world and simply enjoy the beauty of nature. Along the hike, there are plenty of spots to pause and take in the scenery, making it both a photographer’s dream and a peaceful retreat for anyone who loves the outdoors. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking for a memorable adventure, the Falls Trail at Ricketts Glen delivers. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking natural beauty, tranquility, and a bit of adventure.

A beautiful state park and campground. We stayed in the updated loop with full hookups. The sites were spacious and fairly level. The campground offers hiking (the Falls Trail being the most popular), lake activities, and a beach. There currently is a bear visiting the campground but if you take the normal precautions you’ll be fine. If you come from the south, you are faced with a posted 18% grade incline and the opposite if you head south from the park. Logging trucks do use the road so expect some slow traffic when they’re on the hill. The Red Rock Corner store has ice, firewood, a deli, and necessities. Bear Fuel is always near by with gas and diesel. They are both down the hill on Rt 118.

A wonderful park. Very beautiful, especially in the fall. Highly recommend coming to just walk the beach trail for a more casual stroll in nature. There is also a day use area with picnic facilities and a beach. Various hiking trails are around to acess the park's many waterfalls. Adams Falls is one of the waterfalls and is one that can be accessed from a small rocky climb/hike. Somw trails close in the winter for safety due to the nature of the hikes so make sure to plan accordingly and come in a good season for hiking if you plan to do the falls trail. The beach trail is generally easier and is just a nice walk around the woods and lake. You won't see any water falls on that trail but it gives year round access to the park and is easier for those not looking for a big hike. The beach is open in the summer to swimming but closes the rest of the year. You can still lake along the beach trail but not enter the water. There was a volleyball net up on the beach the day I went. I don't remember seeing that as a recreation activity on the park site so it was a nice surprise. There is also camping (tent, rv, and cabin) but I didn't stay so I can't speak for the camping but still it's nice to note that it is a great option for those wanting to get away to nature. Boats are allowed on the lake and access is provided.
Amusement U — Google review
Beautiful hike. Waterfalls all pretty close to each other. You don't have to walk too far before seeing one. I managed to walk the trail in my long boots without any grips without issues, but it was mainly dry and I found both trails fairly easy (but I'm fairly healthy). I'd always recommend proper walking shoes tho for safety. Parking was free. Couldn't see any meters. Both TOILETS are DISGUSTINGLY filthy. "Swarms of flies" circling the toilet bowl. That tells you how bad it is!! Doesn't look like it's been cleaned in 6 months.
Christine — Google review
This is the best hike I’ve been to! I’ve been here twice already and all of the nature is so beautiful that you just don’t want to leave (P.S. there’s no service here so plan accordingly). This hike is for the moderately experienced, I don’t want to scare anyone away but at some point the rock stairs you have to climb/descend get exhausting and a little scary if you’re afraid of heights. Also make sure your shoes are grippy so you stay grounded. I’d even recommend bringing some hiking sticks, trekking poles, whatever you want to call them, just to get some more stability. I would say it’s pretty safe here people wise, everyone I passed on my hike was very friendly and just going about their own business.
Sasha S — Google review
Clean camping site right by the lake, I heard coyotes howling through the night and the stars are ABUNDANT! Vibe check passed. Was my first time camping like this and I had no issues. The bathrooms are clean and warm, would absolutely come here again
Valerie M — Google review
Ricketts Glen is an absolute gem of a park, and its reputation for a stunning Falls Trail is completely deserved. The hike itself is a breathtaking journey through a fairytale forest, with the rewarding sight and sound of dozens of waterfalls around every turn. The trail, while challenging and a good workout, is well-maintained and provides a true sense of accomplishment. The towering, 94-foot Ganoga Falls is a highlight, but every single cascade has its own unique charm. The park offers so much more than just the falls. The atmosphere is peaceful and secluded, a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Lake Jean is a wonderful addition, with a clean beach for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding on its tranquil waters. The campground provides spacious and shaded sites, and the lack of cell service is a welcome reason to truly disconnect. Ricketts Glen is a perfect retreat for anyone seeking adventure, relaxation, and unparalleled natural beauty.
Brian J — Google review
Never have I experience an amazing hike with so many waterfalls in one big hike. Talk about the level power it requires to handle this hike but the views, water, the amazing greenery mixed in. Even the drive getting there is worth it. But i recommend this is a summer to enjoy with friends & family.

Steamtown National Historic Site

Mentioned on

Rail museum
Sights & Landmarks
The Steamtown National Historic Site offers a fascinating journey through the history of steam locomotives and their impact on transportation in Pennsylvania. Visitors can explore museum exhibitions featuring locomotives, photographs, and insights into the lives of railroad workers. The site also includes a roundhouse where technicians conduct daily activities and repairs on trains. This 52-acre property features restored steam locomotives, cabooses, freight wagons, and passenger coaches from the early twentieth century.
Great museum we decided to visit spur of the moment. No admission but we did pay $6 a person for a short ride into town and back. So many beautiful engines and train cars from various companies. The staff are so polite and everyone we spoke to was eager to share their knowledge. I was very impressed with cleanliness of the place and you can see that this museum is well cared for. We did not take the short walk to the trolley museum located across from the train yard but we are planning of visiting again in the near future.

Amazing Place to visit while in Scranton PA! Very kid friendly, and interesting for the whole family. You can pay for a ticket to ride their trolley and train ride, which explains the history of the area. There is also the turntable + roundhouse museum, which houses lots of relics and trains, all of which is free to see. Overall an amazing place to stop by whenever you have free time, plus it's a short walk over the bridge to the Steamtown Marketplace & Trolly Museum!

This is another wow, wow, wow moment. Had no idea stopping to check Scanton PA out was going to yield this awesome find. This place was loaded with all kinds of history. Obviously you have to be a person interested in history to appreciate this kind of site. But how could you not be? This may be the best preserved site in America dedicated to the railroad, and steam engine. I'm so glad that this is somehow funded for our citizens to be able to enjoy. It's so cool to see the kids be in awe of these trains. I know growing up, I was interested in trains as well.
Brian D — Google review
This is a very big site with plenty to see. It's pretty confusing to know where to go. I went to the trolley museum and steam town. There's is actually another museum called the technology museum by steam also that I think is work checking out. It's very interesting seeing the history of the rail system and how Scranton became known as the electric city. There are guided tours that take about an hour and brings you to where they work on restoration of different trains.
Erik Z — Google review
Even if you're in Scranton for the Office, make sure you go here! I found out they had one of the 8 remaining Big Boy trains and had to stop by. It's out in the parking lot and is beautifully restored. The museum is free. Staff are all friendly. There's easily a half day of stuff to see, but you could easily spend a full day here. Lots of beautiful trains and very thorough and informative walk through exhibits. I ran out of time and didn't have a chance to walk on the walkway above the rail yard, or go to the electric trolley museum. You will not be disappointed!
Chris R — Google review
Couldn't get in due to Federal Shutdown, but posting a few details re parking etc. Large free of charge car park is shared with the Trolley Museum. There are signs for RV and Van parking too. Plenty of blue badge parking spaces. There are many picnic tables and benches, some under cover around the car park. Some locos around the car park Hope to return one day and go inside.

Absolutely wonderful experience! We happened to stumble thru right before their tour! Nick and Bill were very informative and fun! We even got to see some of the workers and behind the scenes stuff! I still can't believe the tour was free! A wonderful must -stop if you're in the area!

We visited early morning on a Saturday in late June 2025. We got there just a few minutes before opening since we were staying at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel. Amazing hotel to stay in if you're in town for the Steamtown National Historic Site. It was a converted old train station. There is a giant parking lot and you can kind of look around at the trains in the parking lot and in front of the visitor center while you wait for them to open. The ticket and information center is right at the front when you walk in. We picked up maps, junior ranger books and purchased our train tickets for the 10:30AM ride/tour. Sadly the Locomotive Shop Tour started at 11AM and there wasn't another one until 2PM. The train tour returned at 11:15AM so we wouldn't make it in time and we had a tightly packed itinerary for the day. Next we walked to the left where the Bookstore museum shop is. It's in adjacent building to the Oil House. It's actually a fairly nice sized store with a bunch of neat stuff. This is also where the NPS Passport Cancellation Stamps are for this site. They are right behind the counter and there are 2 stamps. We dropped all the stuff off at the car and went into the first building (Visitor Center). We went through it pretty quite because we noticed that they had a handcar Experience from 10-11AM and a line was starting to form. Never tried a handcar before and it was much harder to get started than you think. Momentum is your friend though. The ranger let all 5 of us get on. 2 on each handle and one opposite of him on the cart. You go out maybe 50 feet, stop and then turn around to go back. It was a lot of fun. By the time we were done we went through the Technology museum to the other side where the train ride/tour was. We had to go fast to get in line since they are not assigned seats and first come first serve. We wanted to make sure we got seats next to each other. We were the second group in line. We decided to sit in the way back. There are 2 passenger cars next to each other and they are not the same. They do have rangers/staff on both trains as you're going. They were very strict about staying in your seat while the train was moving and there were a few kids on our train that the rangers/staff kept having to remind. Conductor will come by and punch your ticket as well. It's pretty cool because the hole punch is the shape of a train. The train doesn't go too far before it stops and turns around to head back to the station. it was a fun experience and for $6 per person it wasn't too bad. I think 5 and under were free. It was also a pretty full train. Not sure if it was sold out or what. After we got off the train at the same place we got on the train, we continued round around the circle into the Roundhouse. Here there were a ton of parked trains with signs and you walk on like a high up platform to see them all. You can't really get super close to them unfortunately. The locomotive shop is also attached to this section of the building and where you would go if you had purchased that particular tour option. We continued lastly into the History Museum portion and looked around a bit. This was the portion we walked through the fastest honestly. Kids weren't too interested in the history. They liked the technology and seeing the trains more. The last building we came across was the theater but it was closed for renovations or something during our visit. So we were not able to watch the park film. I'm sure if we were able to watch the film, the kids would've been more interested in the history aspect. Kids finished their Junior Ranger Booklets and we turned them back in at the front Ticket and Information Center and they got their badges. We ran into museum shop to get them stamped and then we were off to our next stop for the day. Overall it was a great experience and we packed a lot in for just under 2 hrs. Since we had to run through everything so quickly we would 100% come back in the future. Take more time in the museums and also do the other tour. Maybe the theater will be reopened.

Nay Aug Park, located in Scranton, Pennsylvania, is a family-friendly destination designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the same mind behind New York City's Central Park. The park offers a natural escape with walking trails and beautiful waterfalls in Nay Aug Gorge. It features picnic areas and two playgrounds for children.
A Hidden Gem Full of Natural Beauty and Fun for All Ages! Nay Aug Park is one of the most beautiful and relaxing spots in the Scranton area a true gem that offers something for everyone. The scenic walking trails and tree-lined paths are perfect for a peaceful stroll or a quick nature escape. The highlight has to be the gorgeous gorge and waterfalls absolutely breathtaking, especially from the overlook! Families will love the playgrounds, picnic areas, and splash pad, and the Everhart Museum located within the park is a wonderful bonus. During warmer months, the park hosts fun events, and the whole space feels alive with community energy. It’s the kind of place where you can take a quiet walk, bring the kids for a day out, enjoy a picnic, or just unwind and soak in the views. Plenty of parking, clean grounds, and an overall welcoming, peaceful atmosphere. Nay Aug Park is a must-visit if you're in the area a perfect blend of nature, culture, and family-friendly fun!

I’ve lived in Scranton for around 1 year, but this is my first time visiting this park. This public park is very spacious, with a beautiful waterfall, and it’s a perfect place to visit during the fall foliage season. I brought my cat for a walk — there are so many squirrels here, and my cat was so happy watching them run around.
What's U — Google review
I was a first-time visitor to Nay Aug Park on Wednesday June 11, 2025. There is something for everybody in this city-owned public space. The day I was visiting there was a health fair being presented and I picked up some valuable information. The trails leading to the water seemed very treacherous to me. Maybe there is an easy trail but I did not find it. Check out the cool tree house platform. Apparently at this time of year the foliage obscures the water from the tree house. Apparently there is a parking lot on location reserved for hospital staff.
Richard K — Google review
Small but very nice. A lot of people swimming in the summertime peacefully, but dangerous cliff jumping. Cops were in the parking lot when we left, probably for the large groups of young people cliff jumping into the deep water by the waterfall
Amanita P — Google review
Beautiful place to take a walk or a hike. Be careful in some areas, as the last major storm caused some of the paths to get washed out. Wear good shoes and you'll be able to get around well. Don't forget to check out the coffee shop near the hospital, Blackwatch Coffee. Excellent coffee, cute little bistro/cafe as they also sell breakfast and lunch items. Would go back to try their specialty "monthly" coffee selections.
Heather P — Google review
Love visiting here when back in Scranton. Hikes can be difficult with how steep things are and a lot of uneven ground, wet leaves etc. There are some paved paths but still pretty steep if physically compromised or not in fair health. We had some older people in our group and were able to navigate the terrain, though moderately challenging, with some caution. The scenic views are worth the trek.
Margee C — Google review
This area is beautiful for walking. We parked at the end of Mulberry Street and followed the trails to the bridge, overlook, and falls. It's a great spot to spend some time in nature.
Chrissie B — Google review
Easy to access via bus, jump off at Geisinger. If you can catch the mine tour, it's well worth it. Plenty of hiking trails and picnic areas. There's gazebos and usually decent parking. Don't miss the treehouse overlook!

Visitors can enjoy up-close encounters with various creatures at the petting zoo and catch exciting animal shows during the summer and fall seasons. My daughter and I visited today!! We had the BEST time. Love the setup doesn’t feel commercialized feels like a zoo. I think the price to get in was reasonable. The snack bar was reasonable and the variety of animals is very good. Some of the enclosures do seem a tad small but the animals look well taken care of. We will definitely be back. This was a first time visit for us!!

This zoo offers a unique experience with interactive animal feedings, including giraffes, goats, and deer, and a close-up view of animals like lions, tigers, and wolves. The staff was friendly and informative. The price to enter was reasonable. It was clean and well-maintained. We did order from the snack stand, options were limited but prices were reasonable as well. It does look like other families packed meals which is good to know..

This zoo pleasantly surprised us. Alot of great animals and a chance to see them up close and personal. Jethro the giraffe stole the show. Such a sweet and kind animal.Drew his handler was beyond awesome. Took time to explain and answer any questions we had. Zoo is perfect for kids and adults. Certainly will keep visiting this zoo when ever we are in this area.

We spent the most amazing day at Claws N Paws celebrating our daughter’s 6th birthday! 🌿 It was so peaceful — we arrived first thing in the morning and practically had the place to ourselves. A beautiful walk through the woods paired with so many incredible animals made it such a special experience. The girls loved every moment (and so did we!). Highly recommend for a family day out!
Amanda H — Google review
Well, we spent a little over 2 hours there. The animals were housed apart nicely, so there was a good bit of walking. We found the walkways a bit rough, but truly, we are in the poconos with trees and a variety of weather. It kind of added to the atmosphere. The walkways were very wide...so easy to accommodate large groups. Def a big variety of animals...and well cared for. My granddaughter enjoyed it, especially being able to see the animals eating and moving around. I think it def would be a place to stop in. As described, it truly is open air ..so you may want to double check the weather forecast.
Brenda D — Google review
It was a good surprise. I mean, there is nothing fancy about this zoo. It is in the middle of the woods and it is pretty small but we were impressed by the animals they have. When we went there, there was not many people so you can easily see it all in an hour. The only thing is the feeding times, where it is worth waiting and doing it with the star of the zoo, which is the giraffe. People who works here are extremely nice as well. If you are in the area is a good option for young kids, we took our 4 years old kid and he loved it.
Fernando D — Google review
We very much enjoyed this little zoo. There were animals and experiences here that we can’t see or get at our zoo at home. Loved that it was mostly shaded so even on a warm day it was enjoyable to walk around. The enclosures are a bit dated compared to other bigger zoos but the animals seemed happy and content. We saw lots of zookeepers around caring for the animals. My daughter especially loved feeding the tortoises and the lorikeets. We had a really fun day here.
Lisa P — Google review
The kids loved it. I was there a long time ago and it was awesome and more interactive. Needs a bit of an update and the cages cleaned. As an adult I have a hard time seeing animals in cages but I'm sure they wouldn't live long in the wild being in captivity for so long and I know most of them are rescue animals.

The bars also offer a great selection of drinks, perfect for winding down after a few rounds of play or cheering during the races. Overall, Mohegan Pennsylvania offers a perfect blend of excitement and comfort. It’s clean, well-run, and provides a welcoming atmosphere for everyone — whether you’re visiting for a night at the tables, the thrill of the track, or a full weekend getaway. Highly recommend!

This a review ONLY for the free RV parking. After you turn off 315 you need to drive all the way back to Lot E where the website says RVs can park. A sign points left to a gravel lot but and others went into Lot E and parked on pavement with the big trucks. You able to use your levels, generator, and slides. There is plenty of room. We parked in the long lanes painted for big rigs. There are no amenities so it is dry camping. It was quiet. AT&T cell service was excellent. Over the air TV was available. There is a covered shuttle stop in the Lot if you want to go to the casino for meals or gambling. We did not use it or go into the casino. There are grassy areas for dog walking and a body of water across the street behind the trees. We would certainly stop here for a free night.

Was there 10/25 and 10/26/25. The room was great, and cleaned very well. Played at the Casino and a wide range of slots to choose from. Not once did we have to wait to get drinks, those gals were amazing. We ate at 2 different places and both were amazing, and the prices very affordable. Check in and out was a breeze. Will definitely go back. As for the comedy show...not so my style. Meeting table and chairs. A different set up would be needed. SA

We didnt stay at the hotel just visited. Casino was clean, looked like lots of good food options. Also the toilet cover thing was neat, i've never seen that! The track was nice but it was a HOT day and there wasn't a lot of shade outside. People were smoking inside so not comfortable in there.

Had a was wonderful time. Food at Ruth Chris was a fantastic meal. We ate at Johnny Rockets. Very inexpensive and delicious. Lots of cocktail waitresses on the cassino floor. Our room was super clean and lovely.

So Smokey from the front entrance and throughout the casino. My wife and I felt the level of fresh air ventilation was poor. We couldn't escape the smoke! We Visited on Monday, November 17th. Many food options were closed also. No Bubble Craps!! If you're not a smoker....Stay Away!!!

Not a 4 star hotel…… more like a 3. Come ready to make your own bed and ask for more towels and other essentials or bring your own if you need them. And make sure you bring your tablet with your own shows properly downloaded for streaming. The streaming service does not work at all…. And the worst part is that after you try to make it work for 10 times and you call the front desk they will tell you….. oh… I don’t know why they still have that because it does not work!

I stayed at Mohegan Pennsylvania for a weekend and the security checkpoint was extremely inconsistent and unfavorable treatment based on sex toward males. The first day my wife and I were able to walk in and out without being stopped. The second day in the AM we were carded and had a picture taken which is not a big deal. Later that night upon walking in I was told I had to get in line which is not a big deal until my wife who was directly in front of me was told she was good to walk in and I was told to wait in line. I asked security about the requirements on enter being able to walk right in and wasn't given an answer. Then, while in line I overheard security tell someone that if you look under 40 that you have to wait in line. I also repeatedly saw women in their 20s being able to walk right in. The line was full of males waiting to enter the casino.

Arena
Sights & Landmarks
Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza is a versatile sports arena in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, serving as the home for the Penguins and hosting various events like concerts, ice hockey games, WWE matches, and circuses. It also houses the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce and is near attractions such as Wyoming Valley Mall and Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs Casino. The venue has a seating capacity of 8050 and has hosted diverse events.
We went to see the MercyMe concert with Zach Williams and Sam Wesley earlier in March. They were SO good!! It was almost a sold out show, so there were close to 9,000 people there. It's a HUGE arena with tons of seating. It was a very nice drive up there from my home in WV.

The arena is great! The suites are great! 10-12 seats inside suite and outside with overlooking arena. Ordered food and drinks. A little pricey! But great drinks!

Nice arena. Went there for a graduation ceremony. No beer allowed, maybe because it was a university graduation ceremony. Ample amount of parking space and an awesome location. Overall very nice.

Nice venue, but seats on the floor are super tight. Very small seats, tight against each other! MercyMe was awesome!

2 great events in the last few weeks. Cirque de Soliel and the WB Penguins special event day as the Carbondale UFOs . Both well organized and both filled with helpful associates. Food is pretty good for arena food.. The Crab Fries are tasty.

Awesome for a multitude of events. Easy in and out free parking with the option for paid premium parking. Vendor's have everything you need for a night at the hockey games. Can see most everything going on from any seat in the complex.

Been here many many times for hockey games (they did great for Monster Jam too!) but seeing Journey & Toto there was an incredible experience, wow! Although super crowded, you could still get around. Facilities are clean. How could anyone not like the Arena?

Went to a concert last night. Show was great. But the head of Beverage must have called out or something. When we arrived we went to get a beer. The beer was WARM. They must have just stocked or were too lazy to pull the cold ones upfront. So we decided to get a red wine a couple hours later. They only had half a bottle of Merlot. It was SKUNKED. I am convinced they ran out of red wine at this stand and pulled wine from a previous event. For what you are charging for drinks.....please be more respectful of people's hard earned money.

Seven Tubs Recreation Area - Pinchot Forest District

State park
Nature & Parks
Mountainside nature area known for its cascading streams, bedrock tubs & variety of seasonal plants.
Ample parking and two clean pit toilets at the start of the trail. Walk back along main trail just a touch and it takes you to the first bridge. Hang a left before you cross the bridge. Its steeper on this side and much easier to go up here vs down. Pretty pics as you climb. Rain started for us and the rocks got very slippery. You really should not do this trail without hiking boots. I also strongly advise trekking poles for anyone who is less sure footed. Water running great on May 3rd. Somewhat muddy in places from rain. After a bit of climbing you will come to a set of steep metal stairs. The main trail takes you down them. Easier to navigate backwards like a ladder. Shortly thereafter you will find the bridge crossing. Its a small cement bridge and not as picturesque as the bridge down below. Crossing and going down the otherside is easier than going down the side you just climbed and there are some pretty vantage points as you descend. When you return to the original footbridge continue down to the intersection of rivers (dont cross the footbridge yet). Down below the bridge is the prettiest of all viewpoints and should not be missed. We did not hike the Audubon trail loop today because of the rain. Wheelbarrow run is less than a half mile...but footing is dicey, especially when wet.

We dropped by for a period of about 2 hours on a slightly rainy Wednesday in May, and it was awesome. I suspect it would have been a lot busier in better weather, but we had the place almost all to ourselves. Great trails, beautiful, and I mean BEAUTIFUL spots around the 'Tubs loop'. I wish we had a whole afternoon to enjoy it. As I said, I imagine this place is incredibly busy in nice weather, and it may take away from the experience, but for us, it was perfect. Absolutely free. Bathrooms are one step above an outhouse, but were clean. Hardly any garbage to speak of, and we picked up what little we saw. Well worth going to. 5/5...

This place was worth it quick easy walk to the main attraction areas. We went first thing in the morning before anyone was in the springs. The water was crystal clear and warm we visited in hot August. Super cute. We took a lot of wonderful pictures and enjoyed about an hour or so here.

Beautiful park to visit. Water level was very low in the 2nd weekend of October 2025 but still gorgeous for photos and relaxing near the water. Not wheelchair accessible. Would be slippery if snowing or raining. Multiple trails for hiking. Clean bathrooms. Two parking areas that hold about 20 cars each.

Absolutely amazing walk. It took us about 1h 30 to do the full walk. Plenty of bugs so bring bug spray. Also good hiking boots might be worth bringing also as it had just rained and the surface was slippy. I would recommend this area. Very nice indeed.

Seven Tubs Nature Area is a hidden gem in Pennsylvania. The glacial rock formations and waterfalls are absolutely beautiful, and the trails are peaceful and well-marked. I had a great experience—perfect for a quick nature escape or a longer hike if you want to explore deeper into the woods. Highly recommend going early for the best views and fewer crowds.

Really cool spot if you like to hike. Definitely wear proper footwear. Lots of uneven / rough trails. We had a great time, except when I fell & almost slid down waterfall into the creek at the bottom 😂 We did 2.8 miles total out & back following the markers.

Promised Land State Park, located on the Pocono Plateau, offers a natural wonderland spanning 3,000 acres and surrounded by over 12,000 acres of Delaware State Forest. The park features two lakes with opportunities for fishing, boating, and swimming. Visitors can explore elevated wooded areas through hiking and biking trails or enjoy a self-contained camping experience with various camping styles available. Recreational facilities include playgrounds, beaches, volleyball courts, basketball courts, and pavilions.
We loved or spot for camping. Quiet campground. The park offers a lot of activities, including hiking trails, and boating, plus a beach on a big lake. There are many campgrounds within Promised Land. The park Rangers were friendly and came around to caution all on the bear situation. It was Springtime so they were on the move. We saw deer while we're camping, no bears to speak of. We also saw some wild turkey in the park. There is also a bald eagle pair that nests there and there is a look out.

Rented a cottage for a few nights which was exactly as described. No frills, electric, bunk beds, picnic table inside and out, a heater and ceiling fan. The bathhouse was about 200 feet from our cottage which was convenient. The bathhouse was well maintained and the shower water was HOT! spring is still coming to life and the trees are not in full bloom but beautiful nonetheless. Spent one morning kayaking the lake, seems to be fairly shallow and a lot of growth, fishing wasn’t successful. Walked conservation island which is a nice mile loop. Checked out the eagle conservation area but unfortunately didn’t see any eagles. I know the cabins have basic appliances, these do not and it would be a bonus if there was at least a microwave.

Lovely place for paddling, swimming, and hiking. The main lake is just about ideal for kayaking or canoeing. I recommend checking out the Little Falls Trail, as well. Lots of nice views for a relatively short hike.

Campsites are reasonably spaced out for Pennsylvania parks (other parks are much worse). The park rangers are great. I arrived after the office was closed so just went to my site to setup camp. At some point in the morning on their rounds they had come by and placed my parking permit on my car for me. Saved me a trip back down the road. Was very considerate.

Promised Land State Park Review: A Must-Stop Camping Destination in Pennsylvania I visited Promised Land State Park during an East Coast camping trip, and it quickly became one of the most memorable stops along the way. This park truly stands out for its size, serenity, and natural beauty. Even with over 500 campsites spread across multiple campgrounds, it never felt crowded. The layout is smart, the spacing generous, and the peaceful forest setting adds to the sense of calm you get the moment you arrive. The hiking here is excellent—trails are well-marked and varied, from short scenic loops to longer treks past creeks, waterfalls, and wooded ridges. Whether you're looking to stretch your legs or spend a full day on foot, there's plenty to explore. What impressed me most was how well maintained everything was. The park staff clearly take pride in keeping Promised Land in great shape. From the clean facilities to the quiet, undisturbed feel of the forest, this is a top-notch destination for anyone traveling through Pennsylvania. If you're exploring the East Coast by RV, campervan, or just car camping—Promised Land State Park is absolutely worth a stop. ~DLM-Campervans

My rating is based on my fishing experience. The lake over all is very nice, has a beach, boat rentals, park like setting etc and is 4 if not 5 star. As a fisherman though the boat launches are shallow for 16ft and larger boats. Definitely can be done but you may need boots or dont mind getting wet. The lake itself is very weedy by mid to late June. Some of it is unfishable. The edges look amazing and there are fish it just takes effort. I did better in the center of the lake where the weeds were 1-2 ft under the surface. I caught at the edges too but also caught weeds. Nice enough lake but for fishing I would only go early Spring or Fall once vegetation dies off. Multiple other lakes I'd rather fish and I live 6 mins from this lake.

Water & Amusement Parks
Split Rock Resort is a family-friendly retreat located in the Poconos, offering a variety of indoor and outdoor amenities for all ages. The resort features casual rooms, a water park, golf course, movie theater, bowling alley, pool, tennis court, and basketball area. Guests can enjoy spacious and clean accommodations with the option of well-appointed suites. The staff is known for being extremely accommodating and friendly.
This place was a great deal and we got more than we expected. We stayed here on a trip to Jim Thorpe. The check in staff were friendly and professional and helped us resolve a booking issue positively. We made a reservation which included breakfast and the waterpark. While some areas of the waterpark weren't operating, their wave rider was and there were no extra fees or long lines which is rare for those. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve ever seen at a hotel of any level.

I have been coming to Split Rock for over 20 years prior to moving to West Virginia 5 years ago. I was excited to see that they remodeled the rooms when I booked a trip. The reception was very nice but it went downhill from there. I was told that the elevator was down and would have to carry everything to the 3rd floor. I asked about plates and glasses not being in the kitchen (my friend arrived earlier and gave me a heads up). The receptionist explained that the weekend folks kept breaking them so it’s only available for timeshare owners. Ok, I get it. After lugging my suitcase up 3 flights of steps I open our room to see a windowless box with minimal air conditioning and the most uncomfortable living room I’ve ever experienced. Think straight-backed church pews with cushions. The beds were comfortable and the resort beautiful, but I will never come back again.

My friend and I booked a stay at the resort July 10 through the 17th 2025. It was her birthday and I wanted to surprise her. The surprise was on us when we got there and got a room. The room was so bad that when we asked for maintenance, there was no maintenance people on site so we had to clean a defrosting refrigerator. It was ice and water all over the refrigerator when we opened the refrigerator. Water was falling on the floor when we went to clean the refrigerator. The sink was so dirty. It was a silver sink that turned brown. We had to clean that the countertop the stove it was a mess then we find out we have no cable. Went to the desk to complain about everything there was nobody that could help us because there was no maintenance on site. The place was like a ghost town and in the rooms was dirty couldn’t get no linen. It was real bad. we wind up leaving two days early. That’s how bad it was. We didn’t get maintenance for the TVs for three days. So for you who have a membership or is looking to buy a membership from split rock don’t. They didn’t want to reimburse me nothing I couldn’t get no help from managers because the managers was barely on site. If they weren’t on site they was in a meeting they busy so therefore you couldn’t get any help from nobody, bad situation all the way around. So my warning to you, if you’re looking to buy into a resort, do not buy into split rock it’s the worst.

Resort had many errors upon arrival. I left a vape behind in which I have no problem picking up. Phone numbers don’t work. They randomly hang up on me. Can’t speak to anyone about the matter. No heat, fridge was damaged, no breakfast accommodations for the amount that was paid. Definitely was not worth my stay. I’m hoping my friend had a great birthday. But I felt it could have been better. Customers service is very poor. I called 2 different types of numbers to try and speak to someone about my property being returned but I can even get ahold of someone online. Customer service is disgusting. They aren’t helpful rather the complete opposite. Very unethical and incompetent. They don’t care about their customers. They have a nasty attitude. Do not waste your money in going here. Absolutely appalling and waste of money. Nothing enjoyable about this resort at all.

All the staff we interacted with were wonderful. Size of the time share rooms (2 bedroom ) were amazing. Building 6 rooms 3119 A/B. Rooms themselves, as you know are outdated. Clean, but outdated. New couches are desperately needed simply for comfort. They were incredibly firm and uncomfortable. We had a good stay all in all and the place would be amazing if remodeled. We really booked it for its proximity to Jim Thorpe and surrounding area.

I was extreme dissatisfied with my recent stay at Split Rock Poconos, Willowbrook. While I appreciate that the staff were friendly and helpful and that the breakfast buffet and service were excellent, the overall condition of the resort and accommodations was unacceptable. When we arrived at the building, I immediately noticed several issues: * The exterior was extremely dirty, with visible grime and algae, and the overhang was missing its aluminum covering. * Inside, there was a strong sewage odor and heavily stained carpeting throughout the halls. * Our unit contained bugs on the walls and ceiling, dirty and outdated appliances, and visible dirt on the bed. One wall even had a hole in it. * The in-room phone did not work. We were then moved to Building 6. Although the exterior appeared slightly cleaner, the overall condition was still disappointing. The entryway smelled unpleasant, lighting throughout was dim, and the furniture appeared decades old. The hallway carpets were stained, and trash was present on the floor. In our unit, the appliances and handles were grimy, the dining chairs were stained. The bathroom was poorly lit and visibly unclean, with stained fixtures and a damaged electrical socket that appeared to be burned—posing a potential safety hazard. The resort’s main recreational area was also in disrepair. Several bowling lanes were out of order, seats were ripped and dirty, and buckets had been placed to catch water leaking from the ceiling. These conditions made the amenities unusable.

I Love all the activities there are at split rock resort. I really enjoy the arcade and bowling alley. Me and my bf come every October for my birthday and we always have a great week here with everything there is to do here. A special shout out to Luis and Gerald for being amazing workers and always answering questions we have or if a machine is giving us issues they are there to help.

I was honestly prepared for the worst vacation spot of my life judging from the most recent reviews but we were happy with our little stay at Split Rock. Only the Town Center had the water problems and you can see by my photos that the staff had water out for people to drink there. The reception staff was so so nice and gave us a room at The Lodge and the water there comes from a different source per the staff. I brought my two young kids and they did not mind that the resort is in need of superficial updates and some tlc - they had a blast at the arcade and the water park and in the room which had a great view! The activities and bones are charming but it does need updating.

The Mount Airy Casino Resort is an upscale establishment that boasts an 18-hole golf course, a pool that can be used both indoors and outdoors, as well as five different dining experiences. The casino itself has over 1,800 slot machines and table games such as baccarat, craps, blackjack, poker and roulette. Additionally the resort features a live entertainment venue where famous musicians and comedians perform throughout the year.
This is a beautiful hotel. The staff were professional and courteous. We loved our room. The casino is pretty good. My only gripe is that they allow smoking in the casino. The restaurants are good. Our stay here was for our anniversary weekend and they didn't disappoint.
Michael D — Google review
I remembered the old Mount Airy Lodge commercials from when I was a kid in the 1980s, and I wanted to see how this place changed since then, even though the original structure was demolished in the early 2000s. I came here for a little weekend trip for some gambling and a little spa treatment. This whole place is absolutely gorgeous. One of the best resorts I have visited. My room was clean and I had a nice view of the lake/golf course. The room has a fridge, but it only holds beverages (including alcohol) from the hotel that you are automatically charged if you remove anything. Same goes for snacks. The casino can be a little off putting since it is a tad smoky since smoking is permitted. Otherwise, they have a great selection of games to play. I really enjoyed the different slot machines. I took advantage of the Spa my second day and I was very satisfied with all my services. Shout out to Alyssa and Liana who did a fantastic job with my facial, manicure and massage. The Spa is very clean and well organized. Definitely recommend checking out. But be mindful that all services automatically charges 20% gratuity. They have several restaurants and a bar in the casino area along with a cute little gift shop. The coffee shop is downstairs on the other end of the hotel. When I arrived they had plenty of parking. It can seem like a nuisance to drag luggage from the car and have to cut through the casino to get to the front desk. I also attended an event in the conference area that was fun as well. And it wasn't that expensive. Overall, I had a wonderful time here and I will definitely come back again in the future.

Fantastic and very beautiful casino in the beautiful Pocono Mountains. The rooms are absolutely amazing and both the hotel and casino are great! The selection of slots and number of them ensure that you can almost always get your machine. The buffet is the best we have had at a casino, and is very reasonably priced. Every Wednesday has a 30% discount on the buffet. The Noodle bar and Italian restaurant are top notch as well. The payouts seem to be very generous as well!

I am extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The overall cleanliness is unacceptable — everything feels dirty and neglected. The pools are very dirty, and the jacuzzi that is advertised simply does not exist. The service is terrible, and the staff look tired, unprofessional, and untidy. The food in the restaurant is awful — absolutely tasteless, the dishes are dirty, and even the tables are sticky and not properly cleaned. The dining area feels old and unpleasant. The whole atmosphere of the hotel is depressing. There is literally nothing to do here — no entertainment, no energy, nothing modern. I honestly don’t understand how this place has such a high rating. The hotel looks like it hasn’t been renovated since the 1990s. Everything — from the furniture to the decor — feels outdated. Maybe this place would be fine for people in their 70s or 80s who just want a quiet place to sit, but for anyone younger who expects comfort, cleanliness, and a nice experience — I do not recommend this hotel at all. It’s a waste of money.

Really beautiful and clean rooms. I stayed here when on a work trip. Multiple places to eat. Room service and valet available. I don't gamble but the casino floor looked well run. The only complaint is there is a smoking section in the casino and that smell travels throughout the entire floor. No smoking in or near the hotel rooms though. No children allowed. Nice pool.

Mt. Airy casino was kind to me during my visit. Had the buffet with some other family members and we really enjoyed it. Baked and fried fish, shrimp, excellent soup, fried chicken that was nice and moist. Peanut butter cake and ice cream for desert. Had so much can't remember everything. Dinner buffet was 40 dollars a person. I would encourage everyone to give it a try. Next stop was the casino floor. Soon as I walked out of the buffet I found an older quick hits machine that was screaming at me to play it. Played for an hour and walked away 300 dollars up! Of course I lost all of it by the end of the night. Had a great time and broke even.

We did a one night stay at this property and it's supposed to be an adult only casino... There's no entertainment for adults, no night clubs and the joke of what they call entertainment is setting up a few plastic cubes by the poker bar and have two people singing that you can barely hear. This place is filled with cigarette and marijuana smokers, my wife and I had to wear a mask. Totally disgusting. I would never recommend this place to anyone and do not plan on ever going back. Tom
Art — Google review
I did not stay in the hotel, but the casino was one of the worst I have ever seen. First, the air quality is beyond poor, if you're a non smoker who values your lungs, this is not thr place for you. They have a no smoking section, but you would never know it, thr ventilation system is inadequate. Many machines are not just old but damaged. Card slot and entry keys not working on 75% of machines I played. Really couldn't review much as my lungs were irritated and my clothes smelled like smoke. Will never go there again

Hickory Run State Park, situated in Carbon County, spans over 15,990 acres and is renowned for its Boulder Field, a unique area covered with large boulders resembling the surface of the Moon. The park offers over 40 miles of hiking trails, trout streams, and Sand Spring Lake with a picturesque swimming beach. Additionally, it features a disc golf field and serves as one of three permanent spots for orienteering courses.
Highly recommend this park! We really enjoyed the walk along the river to the waterfall — peaceful and scenic. The rock formations are beautiful, especially in winter. Don’t miss the Visitor Center: it has an interesting exhibit and very friendly staff. A great place to relax, explore nature, and learn something new
Iryna S — Google review
The park offers a lot to do, is mostly dog friendly, and the campground is ok. The hikes to the waterfalls were lovely even in the rain. The Boulder Field was fun and unique but be prepared for a long drive on a dirt road with lots of potholes to get there. The swimming lake was nice and lots of area to swim. I especially liked that it was smoke-free. There’s three divided large swimming sections. A cute lil goose family was swimming along with us humans. No dogs on the beach, but there’s grass and trees nearby where I stayed with my dog. Of course there’s people that don’t listen and bring their dog on the beach and hike with their dog off leash, which is disappointing. The food is over priced by the pool and only one person works there and she’s slow and unable to multi-task. I think I waited 15 minutes for my ice cream with only one person in front of me who also just ordered one ice cream. The soft serve was very delicious and worth it! If you want to tent camp, sites 302, 304, 306, 308, 310, 312, and 314 are the nicest and most secluded. Sites 298, 299, and 301 are right by the busy road. A lot of the other sites are hit or miss: small, too close together, no shade, muddy, etc. The campground appears a bit neglected with tall grass, damaged trees, falling apart picnic tables, and lots of closed sites. The water didn’t work by my site and there’s no running water in the bathroom, just a port a potty type toilet. If u need to shower you must drive to the other campground. The camp store is small but very well-stocked with anything you might need. But beware, they sold me firewood that was wet and fresh and did not burn well. People have zero respect for quiet hours, but I complained to the park ranger and the next night and morning it was so quiet, the rangers do a great job! Alcohol is not permitted in the park or campground, but again, people didn’t listen to that either. The new visitor center is very nice. They did close at least an hour early on Saturday night. They warned everyone about bears in the area and were great with advice but I didn’t see any.

A large state park with beautiful nature surrounding it and spacious areas recreation. They have picking areas, a seasonal swimming area, a fishing lake, and of course the boulder field plus so much more. Could spend multiple days exploring the great out doors here.

Had a wonderful time visiting Hickory Run State Park—just about a two-hour drive with beautiful, scenic views along the way. Upon arrival, the staff at the visitor center were kind and helpful, guiding us toward Hawk Falls and the Boulder Field. The center itself was clean, well-maintained, and even had EV chargers available. Hiking to Hawk Falls was a moderate trek. The path down was mostly downhill with uneven terrain, so it required careful footing. The return hike was uphill and a good reminder to pace yourself, but it was worth it. The rocks near the falls were large and easy to walk across, making for some amazing photo opportunities. The Boulder Field was a short drive away, first on the highway and then along a bumpy dirt road. Once there, informational signs explained how the field was formed during the Ice Age. Climbing across the massive rocks was both fun and challenging—definitely keep your hands free for balance in case a boulder shifts. Overall, it was a fantastic first visit. I’m already looking forward to returning for more hiking and to explore the park’s camping options.

We loved Hickory Run State Park especially the visitor center. Could use some better trail maps and trail signage but we had a great time so much more than boulder field

One of the most amazing state parks I've been into. BEAWARE : There is no network once you come here so please download offline version of google maps before coming here. The information center is pretty good with clean washrooms and a bunch of maps. Staff was helpful with our questions. We did Trail A- Beach Trail which was 0.5 and was very easy with no elevation. Later we did Trail T- Shades of Death trail which was marked as most difficult. But for me who has NO hiking and NO Gymminng experience I found it to be easy. Takes about 1 hour out-and-back. The boulder field is 15mins drive from the information center. The road is not paved and it sometimes is very narrow for 2 way traffic. So be careful and drive slow. Sometimes this road is one-way only which is a lot easier. The boulder field is fascinating but take care of your belongings - especially your cellphone because it may fall down in between the rocks. Some rocks move while be step on them so it's necessary to balance properly. We enjoyed this state park a lot.

Lovely state park with tons of hiking trails and lovely scenery!! Went on the shades of Death trail. Suggest bringing appropriate foot ware with you as some trails are a little sketchy, a lot of roots from the trees, and small walkways on some parts. Just use caution when in those areas, but it's worth the hike.

Came on Memorial Day to camp, goo's choice...beat the weekend crowd. A lot of pretty sites. 2 loops are electric, one loop has some 3 ways. Restrooms are clean. But only one Restroom/Shower house for 2 loops. I think it would be a little crowded on a weekend or holidays. Nice beach area and plenty of hiking.

I love this place, I always visit in every summer 🏝️🌞. Each time I visit I fall in love with this. Actually, there are some outdoor water parks near me but this location is so natural and beautiful. It's clean, friendly environment with descend amount of people in weekend gives you pleasant atmosphere. Hope you visit soon with your family.

Nice park. Everything was chill and smooth. Rides were good and my kids enjoyed everything. The only thing that was a big problem was the fact that my wife and I waited in line for more than an hour to order food at the bar for our kids. It was really annoying watch 1 person try to service the bar and the guests ordering food. She handled everything professionally and quickly but it's sad that she had no help.

I'm so disappointed. I went with my husband and 2 kids we went because my son wanted to go for his bday which is 9/3 which clearly they are closed which is understandable this is why we went on 8/31 we got there early so we didn't have any issues with waiting on long lines . If you ask me the price for parking is absolutely insane $12 to park far away $35 if you want " mid " way and $40 dollars of you just wanna walk up about 15 or so steps 🤦 so before we even enter the park we are already paying $40 for parking . Then we purchased 4 day passes which was about a hundred and 40 something I believe my husband said . Anywho so the temperature showed it was about 69 going up to 73 I believe so yes the sun was shining and hiding because it kept coming in and out . So first we walked over to the lazy river 🥶🥶🥶🥶 omg that water was absolutely freezing cold I don't know how people were even in the water freezing there behinds but I just couldn't it's a " Lazy River " not a frozen riven you are supposed to go in and just relax . Alot of life guards had on sweaters everywhere you looked there were people wrapped with towels because it was so 🥶🥶🥶🥶 you just couldn't enjoy the water . Then we walked over to the Olympic pool we walked in and pretty much wet our legs because it was so cold you couldn't even swin and enjoy it . Then we tried the wave pool 🤦🤦🥶🥶🥶🥶 another area of water that had freezing cold water . Which completely sucks because you pay money to go to a water park you figured the water would be enjoyable but nope that's not the experience we had . So while I was shivering on a beach chair wrapped in my towel I decide to call guest services to see if anything could be done . So I explained how we paid money to park and enter the park and we aren't able to enjoy ourselves because everything is extremely cold is there some type of compensation we can receive maybe some type of discount to return next summer but I simply got told NO ! once your ticket is scanned there really isn't much that can be done . So I told the guy so basically we spent almost $200 to come in and just touch cold water he's like a there's nothing we can do . And don't get me started on the price of the snacks in there 🤦 talk about highway robbery a bag of m&m was $6.00 freaking bucks for a regular small bag a small bag of chips was like $5.00 bucks 🤦 a small drink from the fountain machine was $2.50 smh . It really sucks that we went and drove 2 hours to come and enjoy this park and that's the last thing we did because the water was way to cold to enjoy . So that is why I'm only leaving 1 start because we were extremely disappointed and my son did not get to enjoy his bday after we traveled for about 2 hours . So we came back home disappointed.

Staff is very friendly and professional. Rides are well-maintained. Parking seems a bit on the expensive side ($12, $30 or $40), but whatever. Great variety of food stands.

Great outdoor water park. The kids loved it. I highly recommend renting a cabana for the day as it used it to take a break and get lunch and to rest in between all the rides.

It is great that they are doing Fireworks Fridays this Summer! Open to the Public at 7:30pm and typically piared with some kind of entertainment leading up to the Fireworks. Enjoy some Rita's, Beer, and food and have.an enjoyable evening with the family.

This place is crowded like crazy on Sundays. DO NOT GO! Price is cheap but that makes the crowd VERY HUGE. Line is about 1hr wait so we bought the $30 express pass. BUT! Express lane has the same lane as the normal lane, we had to ask people to move away to go through the line. PEOPLE LITERALLY THOUGHT WE WERE CUTTING THE LINE and they were mad. We had to explain. And it’s frustrating and embarrassing. Aside from that, the slides were fun. Side note: I would suggest going to other water parks, unless you want to save money.

Camelback Ski Resort in the Poconos is a great option for families, offering an array of activities both indoors and outdoors. The property features an indoor waterpark, laser tag, bumper cars, escape room, arcade room, mountain coaster, ziplining, and UTV tours. While some visitors experienced challenges with skiing due to melting snow causing wet areas on the slopes during their visit last month, they found convenience in parking close to the office area for easy access to their belongings.
Camelback is doing neat stuff and inviting the community. Lots of great events, many open to the public. Firework Fridays all summer long. They open the gates at 7:30. And very kind and helpful staff.

Will never stay here again. Booked a room with a balcony, got a patio on the first floor looking at a brick retaining wall and electrical boxes. When asked, was told it could be a balcony or patio. Can't seem to find that disclaimer anywhere. But the best part was the mold in the room. I have COPD and couldn't under why my lungs felt bad. Didn't notice the mold until the morning we checked out. When I mentioned it to the front desk, her response was I'll call maintenance. No apology, no discount. NOTHING. OH, and let's not forget the late night text, after midnight, regarding our valet parked truck. Came in and nobody at the valet desk. Gave key to the front desk but apparently that wasn't communicated to the correct person. Hence the text, claiming an issue with our vehicle. My husband, in a panic, heads to the desk at 6am to find out everything was fine. How about a text saying that. Plus, they don't answer the phone when you call the front desk. Wish I could share the mold pictures...and our shitty patio view.

I was there last weekend, a very large ski resort, it has everything, a variety of parking from $12, which is a little far, to $35, which is right at the entrance, lots of very nice staff, always providing excellent service with a smile, the guests on site were also very nice, everyone helps if someone falls. We were there on the last weekend of the season, so there were only 3 lifts, but the variety of trails is wide for all levels, ages, etc., I will definitely go back there next year, there is a bar and restaurant inside the site (a sports bar like that) it was amazing, great prices and good quality! In conclusion: it is suitable for all types of people, young people, couples, families, etc. A very interesting place worth trying!

I should have read the reviews beforehand, as all the negative feedback turned out to be true. I’ve never been to a ski resort where I had to pay for parking, and the prices were outrageous: $45 or $50 for premium parking. To make matters worse, I later discovered a hidden/further $12 general parking lot which was not offered from the beginning. Buying tickets online is cheaper than in person, but the process of creating an account is unnecessarily complicated—be prepared for the hassle. Costs were steep across the board: $120 for the lift ticket, $70 for rentals, $50 for parking, and $25 for food/drinks. The resort’s operations were disappointing. Only 1 out of 2 magic carpets was working, and several lifts were down, creating long lines with no staff to manage the flow where two lines merged into one. Seating areas were scarce, both for resting or simply leaving your gear while entering bars or restaurants. The slopes were fantastic in the morning but became dangerously icy in the afternoon. The only positive thing was that the employees help with putting on your boot rentals. While the resort is large and can accommodate a lot of people, it leads to overcrowding, making it difficult and unsafe to navigate the slopes with so many people falling. For the price, the comfort and experience do not match the cost.

We had a great time snowboarding at camelback. It’s about 2 hours from the city and 20-30 minutes from the Poconos. We went on Saturday and was pretty busy - as expected. But the rental section was very organized and efficient. The prices do go up closer the the date , so I recommend buying your tickets in advance ! The lift lines were about 10-15 minutes wait time. trails were well groomed but got icy towards the late afternoon. Really cool lodge on top of the mountain with nice views , good food & drinks. There’s even live music in the main lodge at night.

Shawnee Mountain Ski Area is a popular ski resort located in the Poconos Mountains, offering a variety of winter activities for visitors. With 23 slopes and trails, it provides opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. The resort features a ski lift and offers options for purchasing lift tickets or season passes. It is known for its family-friendly environment and proximity to the NYC metro area.
<First Time> Had an amazing time at Shawnee Mountain Ski Area for snow tubing! We went for the 9:30 - 11:00 AM session, and it was perfect—no crowds, so we got to enjoy the lanes without the long wait times. The staff was incredibly welcoming, especially the gentleman who greeted us and showed us around. While the lanes may be a bit shorter than other places, we actually got to tube more times because the wait was minimal compared to other locations with two-hour sessions. The staff also made sure my 65+ year-old mom was comfortable by pausing the escalator every time she got off, which was really thoughtful. Overall, the experience was fantastic, definitely worth both the time and money, and we’ll definitely be coming back again! Highly recommend!

My BF and I came here in Jan, I completely forgot to make a review 🤦🏻 It was my first time snowboarding, so I fell.. A LOT! But it was still fun to go down the first simple slope slowly. It does use a lot of your energy, I'm gonna be honest. Still had fun, came home with bruises, hahaha. Worth the trip.

My family and I had an amazingly fun experience in these trails, all very well taken care of, it was very rare to find icy patches in a trail. The snow was perfect even though it had snowed a few days before. The staff was very nice and helpful and everything from the lift dynamic to first aid and staff attention went great. The most fun we had this week!

Shawnee Mountain is a great spot for families, especially for kids learning to ski. Our children took lessons, and the instructors were patient, engaging, and made sure they felt comfortable on the slopes. The beginner area is well designed, allowing them to build confidence quickly. The mountain itself is perfect for learning, with well-groomed trails and plenty of space for beginners to practice. Rentals were easy to pick up, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we’d definitely come back for more lessons and family ski days!

I visited 10/6 with some family and friends. We attended the Food Truck Festival and road the Ski Lift for a scenic ride. Overall it was a good experience. It was $10 to get in and then $10 to ride the lift. Good truck food varied. I wish there was more than 1 options for drinks as the line was long at times. Additionally, I wish the ski lift let us off at the top to take pictures and walk around at the summit! (Maybe an idea for future)

This place was FANTASTIC! My husband and I took our 4 year old and 2 year old after a disappointing day at another corporate skiing place the day before. We arrived nervous that our kids just wouldn't find the right environment to learn and feel confident. Ashley at Guest Services building greeted us and answered all our questions about their tracks and what was offered for such younger skiers. This place has EVERYTHING a parent of littles needs to not only teach them to ski but also to actually enjoy the day. Our boys were literally out skiing from 9:30 am until we dragged them off at 6:30 pm. (Of course with some delicious hot chocolate and snack breaks) This place has the best beginner hill to learn on, long (but not too long) carpet to start, a wonderful chair lift that goes to the same hill the carpet does, just a bit higher up so the kids still felt confident. The layout is very family friendly! From the rental shop being next to the kids area, to there being a family locker room with diaper changing stations in almost every bathroom. The cafeteria was accessible with kids, had a warming fireplace to heat them up and had great snacks and food options at a reasonable price. We are so happy and grateful that we found this place before we had to throw in the towel. Both of our kids went from never skiing to going down the majority of the beginners slope by themselves. We can't wait to tell everyone about this plane and would HIGHLY recommend all families to skip the commercial ski resorts that don't have families in mind and support this place instead! Thank you for such a memorable and epic day! ❤️

Step back in time and immerse yourself in the fascinating world of coal mining at No. 9 Coal Mine and Museum, located in Lansford, Pennsylvania. This historic site offers a unique opportunity to explore the oldest continuously operated anthracite coal mine in the area, which operated from 1855 to 2002 before being transformed into a captivating tourist attraction and museum.
The visit was an excellent experience. Complimentary parking is available on-site, along with a small but informative museum. Our guide was highly knowledgeable, which made the tour both engaging and enjoyable. As the underground temperature remains quite cool, it is advisable to bring warm clothing. Highly recommended.

We liked it. It was interesting. Parking is free and admission is cheap. I don't know if you can stick a wheelchair in the mine cart but I did see a person get a walker in one and use a walker in the mine. It's an interesting little tour. Tour takes about an hour. You meet your guide in the museum then you ride with a group on a mine cart or mine train maybe that's what it is. But you go into the mine everything is pretty flat and the guide will talk you through the exhibits. Outside of the mine they have the museum and a gift shop that sells souvenirs and snacks. They have bathrooms there and there are other exhibits on the grounds, old train cars and mine cars.

My husband I went on the mine tour 9/14/2025. Our tour guide was Daryl and he was amazing! Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable he was also funny. He has so much information he wanted to share I wish we could have spent hours in the mine listening to him. He is a 5th generation coal miner. His first hand experience paired with the stories from all the generations before him made him the most perfect guide. I am already planning a return trip with the rest of our family. Thank you for such an amazing experience I will never forget.

Very cool experience. The guide is extremely knowledgeable. It is a serious look at the coal mining industry. There is an excellent museum and video presentation. You ride a coal train into an actual coal mine that is no longer in service. The trip take roughly one hour. It is well worth seeing and feeling what it was like in the cold damp earth. The tour and museum is one ticket.

If you visit the museum definitely plan it around the tour times since that was well worth it. The size of the tunnels are hard to image unless you are walking through them and the effort it took to create. Our tour guide was very know and made the tour very interesting.

This past July marked the first time since 2011 visiting the coal mine and my wife & kids' very first time here as well as PA in general. Browsed the museum & store but it was the train ride and mine tour with an informative narrative that made the experience even better. Come from the flatland (IL) we were visiting my dad's siblings in Tamaqua & Coaldale. Everyday in PA we did something different and was sure looking forward to this again. Now my 10-year-old son can go tell his homeroom teacher and his classmates at the start of 5th grade that he explored a coal mine along with a few other attractions in PA. For some ppl this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance and PA is rich in history. To all those who lost their lives while mining and trying to provide for your families, may you rest in peace.🇺🇲

What a fantastic and well preserved part of American history. This place illustrates the importance of the coal industry and tells the much forgotten dark truths about it like child labor, job danger, and low pay and practices that made many workers intentioned servants. Hour tours give a lot of information. Notes, it is cold and you may want a jacket but they provide some before entry. Also, wear good footwear and clothing you don’t mind getting dirty. The floors are muddy and you will have water drip on you frequently.

The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway, operated by the Reading & Northern Railroad, is a popular attraction in Jim Thorpe. The train departs from the historic Central Railroad of New Jersey station and offers various excursions, with daily sightseeing tours being the most popular. Passengers can enjoy breathtaking views of the Lehigh Gorge, dense forests, shimmering river, and dramatic cliffs as they travel through the Pocono Mountains.
First time on this train and I've got to tell you this was a great train ride! I rode in the standard car and it was really nice. They play old-time music, and the whole thing gave it a nostalgic feel. I would recommend this to anybody, family friends it doesn't matter. The children I saw absolutely loved it. They also have a town that has so many different little shops and antique shops to go to. Across the street from the train is a restaurant that is outside. All the seating is outside and it was great. I would recommend this to anyone!
Celina L — Google review
I recently took the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway train trip out of Jim Thorpe, PA, and it was such a pleasant experience! The ride takes you through some absolutely beautiful scenery along the Lehigh River and deep into the Pocono Mountains. The fall foliage made it even more breathtaking — it’s the perfect time of year to go if you love the colors of autumn. Get there early if you're visiting during peak season — the town and the train was crowded, especially on weekends in the fall. There is no booking in advance option in this period! The train itself has a charming, old-fashioned feel, with both open-air and enclosed cars. The ride lasts about 45 minutes to an hour, and it’s just the right length — long enough to enjoy but not so long that it drags. The narration over the speakers gave us a bit of history about the region and the old railroad line, which added a nice touch without being too intrusive. The staff were friendly and helpful, and boarding was smooth and well organized. Jim Thorpe itself is a lovely little town, so it’s worth making a day of it — grab lunch, walk around the shops, and then hop on the train. Overall, the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway is a great, family-friendly experience that offers a peaceful way to enjoy some of Pennsylvania’s most scenic landscapes. Highly recommended!
Natalia M — Google review
Such a fun and memorable experience! The ride itself was beautiful — you can choose between open-air cars and enclosed cars with windows. The scenery through the gorge is stunning, especially in the fall. The car hosts were super friendly and pointed out interesting landmarks along the way so we could get great photos. My two toddlers loved it! We went on a Tuesday in late October and were able to buy tickets on-site. Arriving about 20 minutes before departure was plenty of time to get tickets, and board comfortably. Definitely worth doing if you’re visiting Jim Thorpe!

This train is beautiful, vintage decor, great service, beautiful views. It isn't a long ride, which I was fine with, I paid about $75 pp which included a small breakfast of sausage, egg, fruit and mimosa/coffee. It was just ok for me, my husband was happy to finish his and mine. We enjoyed this very much and highly recommend it.
Alva ( — Google review
Scenic train ride offered for all 4 seasons including holiday themed rides - highly recommended! Definitely suggest arriving early as tickets for certain rides are first come first serve. I also recommend trying to sit on the right side of the train as the left side you'll mainly see the mountain side. Also dress for the weather because, at least on my visit, the train cars are not climate controlled.
Andre M — Google review
This was a fantastic fall experience. The town and the train ride were an amazing end-of-fall must-do. The town itself was lovely and had plenty to do. I recommend bringing a blanket if you’re visiting late fall with little ones. The prices vary depending on your seat, ranging from $22.00 to $24.00 for adults and $9.00 to $10.00 for children. Tickets can be purchased at the train booth, not online. The train ride is 45 minutes.
Arbellys G — Google review
Beautiful views. Have been 4 times in the last Couple years. Only improvements I could suggest is adding more comforts and heating to the open air cabin, and having the docents be more informed to be able to answer questions. We asked the one in our car about something In the area that the voiceover presentation had mentioned but he knew nothing.
Sylvia B — Google review
A cute experience to enjoy while visiting Jim Thorpe. We arrived just in time to jump on their noon time ride on a November week day. There were plenty of tickets available for the later rides as well. The track you go on isn’t the most exciting or scenic, but it was fun to take a ride on the train. The best part was the narrator and train staff. They did a great job telling stories and keeping people engaged.

The brewery offers informative tours of its day-to-day operations and a chance to sample some of their beers at the end of the tour.
Among all the domestic and imported beer brands, my preferred one is the PA brewery Yuengling. The name spelling looks very Chinese but it's actually a German name. This is America's oldest brewery and have been growing and expanding very slowly. Finally paid a visit to them and got a very detailed and informative guided tour. After the tour, also got to sample their most popular beer on tap. My most favorite one is the Flight, a light and refreshing beer. BTW, the tour and the draft beer samples are all FREE! 😊

Amazing to see the hard work and dedication that went into building and operating America's oldest brewery up to present day. Our tour guide gave us detailed , fascinating stories for all parts of the brewery including stories behind the beers and behind the brewery operations across US History. I've visited many smaller breweries across the country and this has to be one of my favorite experiences of a brewery tour. Definitely recommend to those who brew, enjoy beer, or any history fan (beer drinker or not!).

Very informative museum, all about the area, the family, the business. Really enjoyed the free tour of the brewery. It was well worth taking. Susan, our guide, was very good. There are lots of stairs on and off throughout the tour so just take note of that. Ranks as a favorite for sure!

Rode from Southeast Ohio to visit America's Oldest Brewery....definitely did not disappoint. Tour was full of history and the cold drinks were so affordable. Great staff and atmosphere. Thank you Yuengling staff for such a memorable trip. Please bring back Hershey Porter.

Free brewery tour of America’s oldest brewery well worth checking out! We walked into the 2PM tour moments before it kicked off. The tour guide was awesome! Informative and funny he kept the hour long tour interesting. You’ll get to tour the caves that were carved out by miners in the 1800’s to give the lager beer making casks a constant 50 degree atmosphere for processing. The canning room was fast paced processing up to 500,000 cans a day of beer! Afterwards you’ll get to sample two of the Yuengling beer line, some of which are only available at the brewery on draft (Vanilla Black and Tan!) The store is stocked with the beer lines available for purchase in cases, memorabilia and company hats/ tee shirts. Glad to finally make the tour. We enjoyed awesome authentic Polish food at Kat’s cafe in Minersville, PA afterwards! Would be awesome to pair those pierogis with the samples at the end of the tour!

We came here on a Thursday in June. We were nearby having lunch and looking for something else to do in the area and were able to make it here just in time for their last daily tour at 3p. *Wear closed toed shoes fyi* You can park on the street but there is a lot behind the museum/gift shop. You will walk up a small hill to get here from the parking lot - welcome to Pottsville:) So go into the museum to register for the tour. It is free but you can tip your tour guide. Ours was Sandy and she was friendly and knowledgeable about the history and easy to understand. The tour will take you a road the street to the production area and you will get to go through the underground tunnel. It’s 50 degrees down there but you’re not down there long so don’t worry about freezing. There are stairs to get up from there to the other floors. Nothing crazy just noting in case you aren’t able to do stairs. After the tour (I think it was about an hour btw) you can sample two beers in the area behind the gift shop and then stop in the shop for Yuengling merch. You can also buy beer to take home. Honestly I don’t drink Yuengling beer but I really enjoyed the tour. I did actually like the samples I had as well. If you’re a beer drinker you should put this on your list for a visit. It’s pretty interesting history and the oldest brewery in the US.

Outdoor Activities
Blue Mountain Resort, nestled between the Niagara Escarpment and Gregorian Bay, offers a picturesque setting for year-round activities. With 42 trails across 364 skiable acres, it's a haven for skiers and snowboarders. The resort also features family-friendly attractions and an indoor/outdoor Scandinave spa for relaxation. Located just 90 miles from Philadelphia and New York, it's a popular destination known for its long ski runs.
Blue Mountain has the most vertical of any ski resort in Pennsylvania. We hiked to the top today and had a great time making our way up the trail from the base. There were also a ton of mountain bikers at the resort today, too, so this must be a great place to downhill bike as well.

1st time I camped here I had am amazing experience but the 2nd time I had a bad experience so im giving this place 2 and half star. We rented Camp group site C for and bought firewood and charcoal and used there BBQ grill. I spent totel of about 1000$ for a 1 night camping experience. For a large group. First off, The view was amazing. ( could of been better) The service at the front office is amazing. The camp ground workers are horrible and lazy. The security and camp ground police are amazing and respectful. I felt very safe. Things that PISSED ME OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right in front of the camp tents are 2 giant trailers ruining the entire view. I asked the camp ground workers to move it and they said no because they cant move them. So now I paid 700 bucks to stare at trailers all day long when I could of stared at the mountain and nature. Also when we were playing infront of the tents, we had to crawl under the trailers to get the ball and Frisbee. It was annoying to deal with. They could of parked it anywhere else. Even 15 feet to the left and it would of made the world of a difference. The portable bathroom that they had near the site was extremely Dirty!!!!!! You can tell no one cleaned it in weeks. No toilet paper and pee everywhere. We just drove to the base of the camp to use the bathrooms at the office. The ziplining and rope course and summer adventure stuff opens at 10 and close at 4!!!!! Which means after we checked in at 3pm we couldn't even do the activities except for taking the lift up the mountain. This place is designed for people who go camping for multiple days. Not good for camping 1 night!!!!! The garbage bins were clean and the campfires were nice and organized. The grass was cut good. The tents were beautiful. Showers were clean. The parking lot is spacious. The view from the Summit was amazing. The stargazing at night was breathtaking. Overall I was going to give it 2 stars but because I had a good experience the first time I gave it 2 and half stars. The camp ground workers ruined the experience for us. I wish I could of went to another camping resort and tried other place instead of this place.

Nice atmosphere, our waiter, Conner was excellent and friendly. He was great. The food was at best, mediocre. It was our first visit and will return in the hopes that the menu items will improve. Cocktails were also excellent.

Great experience. They let you pick your own Tent site if you are early enough and it isn’t crowded. I definitely recommend camping here. I also tried the restaurant out and it was really amazing and fairly priced.

Blue Mountain Resort is a fantastic winter destination with plenty of activities for all ages. The skiing and snowboarding trails are well-groomed, offering options for beginners and experienced riders alike. The lifts are efficient, and the staff is friendly and helpful, making the experience smooth and enjoyable. One of the highlights of our visit was the tubing area. There are three hills dedicated to tubing, and unlike many other resorts, they were not crowded at all. This meant little to no wait time, allowing us to go down the slopes multiple times without long lines. The runs were fast and exciting, making it a perfect activity for families and groups looking for some winter fun.

Factory Tours
An Incredible Experience – A Must-See in Nazareth, PA! My father and I had an absolutely fantastic time touring the Martin Guitar Factory in Nazareth, PA. The tour is incredibly well laid out and offers a fascinating, behind-the-scenes look at the entire guitar-making process—from raw wood to beautifully finished instruments. It’s amazing to see the craftsmanship, precision, and passion that go into every single Martin guitar. What really made the tour exceptional was our guide, Dave. He was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also warm, engaging, and clearly passionate about what he does. Dave brought the whole experience to life with his insights and stories, and his enthusiasm was contagious. He truly took the tour from "really good" to "GREAT!" Even if you're not a musician or a guitar enthusiast, this tour is absolutely worth your time. It’s a perfect blend of history, artistry, and engineering. Be sure to leave extra time to explore their museum as well—it's filled with iconic instruments, historical artifacts, and lots of interesting exhibits. Highly, highly recommend this experience. It’s a gem!

Best guitar centered place to visit. The host is at the front desk and very helpful. The tour is well worth it and takes a little over one hour. These guitars are world famous and you can watch them being made. They also have a picking polour where you can gdy out current production and share with others. There is also a wonderful museum featuring their musical instruments dating back to the statr of manufacturing in NYC. I cannot recommend this visit enough. I live in South Korea and come to Nazarith, Pennsylvannia just to be in the mecca of the oldest continous guitar manufacturer in the world. Making guitars, mandolines and other stringed instruments since 1923.

Loved the factory tour and the museum! The store and picking parlor are awesome, as well. I enjoyed being able to play multiple guitar models and purchase a guitar directly from the factory. I'm loving my beautiful new HD12-28.

From NC & living in New Jersey for years and finally took a day to visit this place. I’d rank it as one of my all-time favorite experiences. Only touch what you plan to purchase, which is basically gifts, souvenirs, oh! AND guitars! The tour is fantastic. Seeing the process of manufacturing these fine instruments is a definite must for almost anyone. I enjoyed learning about the history of the company along with all the significant artists who played a lot of our favorite songs. It may be a while but I look forward to returning for another visit. Who knows… it could cost ya though.

We had the opportunity/honor to visit the C. F. Martin & Co. Inc. in JUN_FY2025 and it was an amazing experience, a great opportunity to learn more about music and PA's history and legacy. We did a plant tour and for sure it's a remarkable building. Definitely, it's a place that deserves my respect. It was a privilege.

Really cool place to visit if you love music or guitars. The tour was interesting and it’s amazing to see how much craftsmanship goes into every Martin guitar. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the museum area had some beautiful vintage pieces. Only reason it’s not five stars is the tour felt a little short and crowded at times, but overall it’s definitely worth the trip!

This beautiful building houses the museum, the gift shop, and the factory that churns out thousands of guitars that professional and amateur players cherish throughout the world. For a small fee, one can take a behind-the-scenes tour of the factory to see how an instrument is made. The museum has thousands of guitars that Martin made in the last two hundred years. Some were in the hands of the best known artists in the last century. We enjoyed our visit. It is easily one of the best thing to do in the area.

I visited since this would probably a once in a lifetime experience. I went on the factory tour and the museum. The factory tour was absolutely wonderful. Our tour guide was Tyler and he did a good job. I really appreciate the fact that they do these tours. Before coming, I thought the tour might be from behind a window or something like that but you actually get to walk right where the workers are making real guitars, it was amazing. You can smell and taste the sawdust in the air. I would highly recommend it.

This is top notch hunting, fishing, kayaking, hiking ANYTHING outdoors. The amount of inventory is unbelievable. The animal displays are mountains high. On those mountains; mounted animals with signs of what each animal is. Not only is it one of the best shopping experiences but it is educational. They even have a target practice area reflecting the gold mine era. (So cool!) My son and I visited for 3 hours and honestly could have stayed longer. Thanks Cabela’s for having us! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Excellent little theatre. Possibly historic? Lots and lots of ushers, volunteers, workers, making everything that more enjoyable. Comfy seats. Also the town has many many fine restaurants to dine before show. Lots of parking. First theatre not bothering patrons about cell phone pictures. Loved that the most. Saw 2 great groups Orleans Little River Band that helped. Would go again to theatre

Seats are always comfortable, staff is so nice. Love being able to see wonderful shows here! Only wish they’d be able to open the side doors when the shows let out. It’s unfortunately a bit of a struggle to leave the building. Recommend street parking or using the parking garage near the police station.

We were here for the first time this past weekend. We saw the Lewis Black stand-up comedy tour. It was a great experience here. The theater is absolutely beautiful. There was plenty of staff. All of the staff that we interacted were very pleasant and helpful. We will be checking the schedule to keep an eye out for more shows that we would like to see. We did park a few blocks away in a free lot. It was quite the hill to walk back up. We had a great time. I recommend checking out a show here.

Saw a Great show with Jay Sigels and the Tokens , the entire show great ! Along with theatre itself and friendly staff . However I’m having problems with my parking choices , now that the new parking garage is open , getting up on years the walk to the theatre is about 1/2 mile uphill , plus the area around the garage is very poorly labeled and outside areas very dimly lite . Years ago there was a bus or trolley , I haven’t seen in years ! I just wanted to warn the seniors who go to these shows in the future could be very very dangerous if not alert and very careful ! I hope I can find alternative other than street parking ! The garage is not very senior friendly in my opinion paying and leaving is very challenging Ron

Went to see a show I thought would be good based on the advertising but was amateurish and a total waste of money. The Zombie Circus was an embarrassment and It will be a long time before I spend any more money at a show at the State Theater. I can’t believe they allowed a show of that juvenile caliber to come to there theater. I trusted them to promote decent shows but what a total let down this was. Additionally there was very limited parking and we arrived early. All in all it was a horrendous experience and one I won’t allow myself to was try e my time and money on again

Nestled in the picturesque South River, Crystal Cave is a captivating subterranean wonder that invites visitors to explore its stunning rock formations and rich mineral exhibits. This enchanting destination features an engaging learning center, artisan village, and a delightful crystal shoppe where you can purchase unique creations directly from talented artisans. The guided tours are particularly memorable; knowledgeable guides share fascinating insights about the cave's history while leading you through its breathtaking passages.
Beautiful setting and guided tour was very interesting and informative. Coolest part of cave tour was 54°, so you may want a light jacket. We visited on a weekday, so it wasn't very crowded. Gift shop was well stocked with shirts, caps and sweatshirts, also different types of rocks and geodes. I thought pricing was reasonable. Definitely worth seeing. Glad we went.

Nice little local place exploring in a Crystal cave.... the staff were nice and helpful... our tour guide Jamie was excellent while exploring the cave. Nice little gift shop, plenty of bathrooms that were clean. Plenty of seating areas for picnics. They have a small restaurant and an ice cream shop. Also a hiking trail if you want to walk around in the woods to see nature. I'd recommend you go early... it opens at 9am but things don't get rolling till about 9:45am for the first tour into the cave. By the time we were exiting the cave it started getting crowded but things were still flowing nicely. Overall experience was great, prices where fair on crystals, minerals and fossils. You can buy a bag of crystals or fossils and take it to the water truff to shift through and find crystals and fossils. My boys had a great time will visit again when we are coming through Rt422 into Reading Pennsylvania!

First time at Crystal Cave with the kids. Went early at 1035 am, had our tour at 1050 am. Nicola our tour guide was lively and very knowledgeable. The walk to the cave from the parking lot was steep. There was a 15 min intro movie before getting into the cave. The cave was cold so bring a sweater and wet in certain areas so wear the proper shoes. Cave itself was very interesting and such a nice learning experience. Kids wanted to do mini golf afterwards. It's cash only at the mini golf stand but you can pay by card at the trading post and they give you a voucher to take back. There is also a nature trail which we didn't get to do due to the impending storm coming in. The kid's got to do some gemstone panning which they truly enjoyed. Would come again as it was a lot of fun. We didn't eat there but looked like basic fast food. The gift shop was neat and there is a mini museum to see as well.

I couldn't believe people would be tied together and holding a ladder climbing over rocks to go to church 🤯The staff in the store was very friendly and welcoming. They have a lot of cute things to buy .I'd love to come back in Oct for the lantern

Perfect place to take the kiddos. Dress warm for the cave and be prepared to walk up a steep incline with stairs to get to the cave, watch a 12 minute video about the history of the cave, and there are also stairs inside the cave leading to the top as well as places where you have to duck or potentially brain yourself. It's worth the trip for the glittering minerals, hand dipped ice cream, panning for gemstones, and most importantly, watching your children create core memories to share for years to come.

My boyfriend and I visited on 9/14/2025 and had a wonderful time! No wait and we had an awesome tour guide named Jada who really made the overall experience great! I’m not sure which was more enjoyable, the cave itself or the gift shop! I would suggest calling ahead if you plan to visit later in the day! This is not wheelchair accessible! If you have trouble walking, standing or using steps I would not suggest visiting! Make sure to bring a jacket!

Went on a Friday afternoon & were able to get right in for the next cave tour (tour was starting in about 10 mins from time we got there). $20 ticket (per adult..children up to age 11 are cheaper). Our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly & made the tour entertaining. After our tour we went into the gift shop & got a few things to remember our trip by. Reasonable prices & a large variety of items available. They do have group rates for larger parties (which I suggest buying tickets in advance) & hours sometimes vary depending on certain months or holidays & they are closed for the winter months so best to check their website. They offer other things like mini golf, gemstone panning & icecream parlor (again check their website to make sure these will be open when you go). Unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible to see the cave & there is a lot of steps to get up to the beginning of the cave plus a lot of walking throughout the cave. Where comfortable shoes (I suggest sneakers) & even if it’s hot outside, bring a sweatshirt or light jacket because inside of the cave itself, it’s in the low 50°’s. Definitely a cool part of PA & USA history and fun for all ages

PPL Center is a modern indoor arena located in the heart of the city, hosting a variety of events including sporting competitions, concerts, and touring productions. It is home to the American Hockey League's Lehigh Valley Phantoms and hosts thrilling shows and entertainment throughout the year. The 8,500-seat arena also serves as a venue for other sports events such as ice hockey games featuring the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and National Arena League indoor football games with the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks.
I took my family to the PPL Center to see Saquon Barkley. The mayors of Allentown and Whitehall were present and gave him the key to the city. The facility was great! Very clean, easy to navigate, lots of vendors providing a variety of foods, drinks, etc. The bathrooms were clean and conveniently located. There was a DJ who was plugged into the PA system... that wasn't the best sound. It has some echo throughout the area, but in a venue that size, that is somewhat expected. The staff was very accommodating for the handicapped individual near us. Parking was available in different locations and easy to find. We'll definitely go there again!

We went to see Papa Roach here. Never was at this venue and have to say it's honestly now one of my favorites! First off, I don't think there was a bad seat we could've gotten. Second, we bought the tix back in March and got best available. Well best available was amazing seats! We were in the Morning Call club seat area. A++++++ venue and show!

Great mid sized arena, perfect for hockey. Lighting and sightings were all good; atmosphere good for a Lehigh Valley Phantoms game. Entertainment value good also. Food choices and amenities were standard and readily accessible. Location and parking nearby were also readily available - Walnut St garage was easy in and out and just a short walk away. Huge plus is the arena has a Tim Horton's inside. Definite recommendation to attend a Phantoms game here.

Great atmosphere. Small venue. Great sound and parking was only $3.20!In and out ! No issues at all. I will definitely see more concerts here!

Was surprised at how easy it was to get to center and park within walking distance. The arena is larger than expected and great for sports venues. I dropped one star as for comedy acts the center is so large and have to keep head turned to see stage ( depending on seating). For stage shows do floor seating and or close to stage. Hints. Bring small bag (women) and leave metal items home for quick entry through metal detectors.

Surprisingly easy access. Entry was orderly, smooth, and problem free. Plenty of parking garages around. Be advised that the streets are one-way. Had to ask for directions, and the garage girl was perfect! The venue is wide open, airy, and cool. Bring a jacket.

Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom, located between Allentown and Emmaus, is a top tourist attraction offering over sixty thrilling rides and rollercoasters for the whole family. Established in 1884, this amusement park boasts hair-raising thrill rides alongside options suitable for children. The park also features a large waterpark with wet and wild attractions. Visitors can enjoy live entertainment, special events, and Planet Snoopy for the little ones.
The experience at this amusement park was truly amazing. From the entrance you feel a cheerful and well-organized atmosphere. The attractions are very varied: roller coasters for the most adventurous, family games and special areas for small children. Everything is very clean and well maintained, which gives security and confidence. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help, either to give information or to make the experience more fun. The shows and parades were also a strong point, full of music, lights and color. The food inside the park has a good variety, from snacks to more complete dishes, with reasonable prices for a tourist place. In general, it is an ideal place to spend a different day with family or friends, full of fun, adrenaline and unforgettable memories. I would definitely come back!

I found it very nice and organized. It's a beautiful park, and the attractions are really fun. A good mix of modern and traditional. Some vintage rides add a special touch. The only thing they urgently need is better integration with the Six Flags system. You can't enter with your ticket through the Six Flags app, even with the All Parks package, as it doesn't work, so you have to wait in a long line at Guest Services. Also, because there's no integration with the SF system, I had to pay for parking and request a refund at Guest Services, or I wouldn't be able to enter, even though I was entitled to the benefit. Anyway, I hope they fix this integration once and for all so I can give them 5 stars.

The family rode 13 different rides 20 total times and we didn't even go to the Water park side . . Lots of fun

While I do love Dorney and always have a great time there, the pricing for food/ drinks is already insane but having to pay almost $40 FOR PARKING, is criminal. The haunt was dope, all the shows and performers were great, (the skeleton crew show) was my favorite though. Lines for the coasters were short, was able to get on everything, even sit in the front. The lines for the "Haunt Attractions" were quite long though. Hopefully pricing becomes more consumer friendly in the future as I believe I had to pay $15 extra in service fees when ordering my ticket online.

I really enjoyed this park , it has a very charming feel to it imo . It's a decent sized amusement park ( I expected it to be much smaller) . The water park portion looked to be really nice as well. The layout is decent here , but there are some steep hills to walk. I was really impressed with Possessed , Steel Force , Talon and Iron Menace. I also loved that Chickie's and Pete's is on the dining plan here!! Also growing up going to Cedar Point all my life it was wonderful to see the Demon Drop still running great and getting to ride it was awesome!!

Overall, the park is really nice and offers plenty of fun attractions. However, I think they should limit the number of guests allowed in each day because it was extremely crowded, and the lines were very long. Some staff members provided great service, while others seemed uninterested in being there. My son had a great time, and it’s definitely a wonderful place for kids. I recommend reserving tickets online, as it’s cheaper than buying at the gate. Some restrooms were clean, but others were smelly and not well-maintained. The park itself is clean overall and has a nice selection of food and snacks, though the food is definitely overpriced. Get the season pass even it’s its first one day you save way more money. You can also bring a friend for 20$.

Dorney Park is always our favorite theme park probably because it's more reasonable compared to to the other park you paid a ticket for dry and water park, We took my sisters family in here for the first time she have 3 young kids and I'am proud to say that they love the water park, her kids is none stop playing on wave pool and lazy river, we came on opening at 11 and we got a nice shaded lounger area, the only downside is the customer service told us that season pass holder can get in early and we did not see anybody by the water park gate that letting season pass holder get in, we got so happy but got disappointed right there, they even put season pass entrance sign but like others we waited till 11 to get in, so this thing is false advertising and reason I only gave 4 star, But as always Dorney park is clean the bath area is decent the bathroom is maintained the best part is the all day dining that me and my kids truly enjoyed thru out the day. I highly recommend to avail all day dining to everybody you will not regret it, and season pass pays off we are coming back again specially on October for their Halloween.

Simple lodging in a vibrant casino resort offering a mall, eateries & an indoor pool, plus a spa.
Great casino with easy access to the hotel and shopping outlets. Convenient parking garage that has free parking. Friendly and efficient staff. Decent ventilation with how much smoking is done in there. They have non smoking sections but it’s really just a large open space between the two.

Not a great casino. Was there about 20 years ago and went again in 2025. Need players card to order drinks. Must play $5 to order and can only have one drink every 30 minutes. At least 40 slots broken. Casino is half smoking as well.

The table suddenly became very busy, and the dealer kept blowing cards, but they changed 4 dealers within 10 minutes. The staff called a few people to look at it, and said it was very strange, as if we were cheating. , they said they were going to close this desk and they were going to get off work. No way, the rules of the game are theirs. The next day, I went to the same table and kept losing. The dealer kept getting 20 and 21 points. I asked the staff when the table would be closed today. The dealer told me that in addition to changing the cards, the table would be replaced with new cards. , will not be closed. Yes, shameless behavior can only make you lose, not win. When you are lucky, they keep changing people to deal cards, or close the table directly. There is no justice at all... don't go gambling in this place, their behavior is so bad

Bush league services and amenities. Unhealthy conditions and clown shoes service. It is clear there has been a recent management change for the worse. Our stay started with the front desk being unable to locate our reservation. Despite it being made months ahead of time. Next my coworker discovered that our shower would not drain. When maintenance arrived they pulled 3 hair extensions worth of hair out of the drain. They have done away with complimentary breakfast (which my coworker would not stop complaining about for our week long stay), the attached restaurants are over priced. One night I ordered medium steak, at "market price", and received a brunt piece of charcoal that was no where near worth what I had paid for the meal. Next security saw fit to give my company vehicle a "parking warning" threatening to boot or tow it. With no explanation for the warning. The vehicle was legally and parked in a valid area. No signage, no markings, no attempt to contact me. When I contacted them, they admitted that the warning should not have been issued. It never occurred to them that the vehicle was parked for more than 24 hours, because the guests were staying for longer than 24 hours. All these above mentioned things are annoying but what is unforgivable is my coworker and I both observed the house keeping staff clean our room one day. The house keeper took the reusable glasses and coffee mugs, washed them in the room's sink without soap, and replaced them. There were no new glasses or mugs on her cart, so this must be a standard thing for this staff. Dog feces located everywhere in the landscaping and parking lot. The room does not have a microwave and the refrigerator barely cools drinks at the max setting. The computers in the "business center" in the lobby are running illegitimate copies of Windows, the styling of the rooms and public areas are clearly cheap and tacky. The free wifi is open, public, and not in the least bit secure. It is clear the powers that be are cutting corners where ever possible. In short, anyone staying here should not expect the most basic level of customer service and expectations to be met. For the cost of the room alone, I would expect NONE of these issues, let alone one of them to be experienced during a week long stay. The only people that have any idea of what they are doing is the polite and professional maintenance staff. But that is not enough for me to reserve a room here next time.

Reserved a room for Friday Night May 11. Arrived to check-in only to be rudely informed By an employee at registration desk that despite having an itinerary Number with a Confirmation Number confirming our reservation, They were over booked and they had no rooms available. After 15 minutes of waiting the hotel manager (I guess as she never Identified herself) rudely offered to shuttle us to another hotel off site. I recommend not wasting your time visiting the Sand Casino. Your better off visiting another resort.

Wasn't allowed to bring my 20yr old son through the casino to eat at Emeril's Burgers and More. Don't know why security couldn't escort us to the restaurant. Last thing we wanted to do was waste money on the slots. All we wanted was a bite to eat. Security said the only option was the food court. Definitely not worth it.

FirstEnergy Stadium, formerly known as Municipal Memorial Stadium, is the oldest park in the Eastern League and home to the Reading Phillies. With a seating capacity of 10,000, this classic minor league ballpark has been hosting baseball games for over 70 years. The stadium offers great views of the game and has received awards for its attendance levels. It's a perfect place for families to enjoy a fun night out with various activities for kids and adults alike.
Beautiful old ballpark! Absolutely first class stadium! The food is great, service is first class & the views are beautiful! Love the old style of this classic old ballpark! We went during the mega fireworks, absolutely amazing show! The Fightins won & we got to see some fireworks, what more could you ask for!

Very family friendly. All the seats in the ballpark are close to the field. And the price is right. Food was good. Parking good but a nightmare getting out of there! Added another 40 minutes on our hour drive home. Lots of fun being had in the park. It was Star Wars Night and Fire Works which were some of the best I've seen.

Great ballpark to visit. Good prices. Nice long firework show after the ballgame. Fun mascot concert before the game and got several mascot autographs. Parking is free and close and yes you will wait getting out at the end but that is common at most any game or concert. Recommend.
Michael G — Google review
This ballpark is a gem! I was there for a high school reunion in the adjacent Redners Event Center and saw the game perfectly, but looking around, it seemed that there were no bad seats in the stadium at all! And you could see the amazing and extensive fireworks display at the end of the game with great clarity. I also took the time to check out the concessions and sports clothing store while there, quite a lot on offer. There was even a live small concert going on in the concession area at the end of the game. Definitely kid-friendly, and fun for couples, young and old. Parking lot and street parking after 5 pm was free but the roads in and out are one lane, basically, so prepare for a wait. You park at your own risk.

I would give 5 stars except I could not find gluten free. I bought fries but couldn't get a meal. I was told I could take the hot dog out of the roll. Obviously I cannot do that, as I have Celiac. I guess not enough of us who attend games have food intolerance. The seats are good, the fans are all friendly, the parking is free, unless you want to buy reserved, and food items are not as expensive as at regular team concessions. Even saw awesome fireworks.

The Reading Public Museum is a diverse institution that offers a wide range of exhibits and activities for visitors. It houses collections focusing on art, science, world civilizations, artifacts, and natural history. The museum also features a planetarium and an arboretum to provide an immersive experience for guests interested in outer space and nature. Additionally, the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum at the Reading Regional Airport showcases the region's unique contribution to aviation history with a broad collection chronicling military aviation.
This was my first time to the Reading Public Museum. It was much cooler than I would have thought it would be for a local museum. They had several exhibits that span three different floors of the building. There was a child friendly area, a school tour exploring art and history, and a touring exhibit with artists from MC Escher. It was a good experience and look forward to visiting the museum again in the future. Parking was easily accessible and the museum was easy to find.

This was our second time. I have a membership so I can take my son a couple times a year. It's a smaller museum with 4 main gallery wings. Much of the museum seems to be a static collection and one wing has a rotation of new exhibits geared for kids. 2 to 3 hours is plenty of time unless you're reading all the display notes. Last year's Dragon exhibit was fantastic and unique and engaging. Currently the kids display is Wild Kratts animal adventure. We saw this at the Please Touch Museum last year and it's about the same here. Decent for kids and my son enjoyed it. My only gripe is like a lot of kids exhibit some displays weren't working properly, some it was unclear what to do to interact with it. And the "challenge mission" instructions were so vague it wasn't clear what to do and it didn't really make sense until an hour into being there. And once we figured it out the payoff for completing was underwhelming. That said, it was still decent and my son had fun with some of it. The Planetarium has a few different shows depending on time. They seem to be geared toward younger kids and my son (7) is less into the "kiddie cartoon" shows. Even as a kid I appreciated the science oriented planetarium shows I saw so if like to see more of those.

The Reading Public Museum is a wonderful museum in Reading, Pennsylvania. The museum is unique in that it offers a lot of different things to do and enjoy. Here you can find great artwork, a planetarium, historical artifacts, learn about nature, and take a walk in a one of a kind arboretum. The main museum complex offers three floors of exhibits. The exhibits are well curated and it is easy to learn about a variety of topics. On the ground floor you can learn about the museum’s history and see a dinosaur skeleton. The first floor has galleries devoted to animal habitats, Asian Art, artifacts from classical civilizations including a mummy from Egypt, Medieval European Arms and Armor, Native Americans of Pennsylvania, and Latin American history. The second floor contains exhibits on European and American arts. Traveling exhibitions are also displayed here. All of the displays are well put together and presented. The main campus of the museum is great, but you can’t leave this place without taking a walk in the arboretum. It is well laid out and be sure to grab a map of it before you head out on it. There are 25 acres filled with beautiful trees, flowers, well placed bridges, outdoor artworks all along a nice creek. This museum offers all of this for only $10.00. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. The museum has a parking lot and it is possible to park on site. You will not be disappointed at this museum.

We came for the Wild Kratts visiting exhibit, but loved the whole experience! There is quite a variety of things to see in a relatively small space. Try to visit on a nice day so you can also enjoy the arboretum!

I’ve been going to this lovely, easily traversed (only 3 floors) museum for years. The Alphonse Mucha exhibition a few years back drew me in, big time. It was first class. Today, I came for the “Her brush, her story: Women Watercolors” and the “Toytopia” exhibition. The latter was exceptionally well done and highly interactive for children and adults alike (including a gigantic Etch-a-Sketch!). The women watercolors exhibit felt like an afterthought, with the artwork displayed in a corridor and a really dark room (I suppose to preserve the artwork). Highlight for me was the yummy museum gift shop featuring cards, jewelry and crafts from local artists and other affordable gifts such as tea sets and even bejeweled elf ears! The staff and volunteers were all exceptionally friendly and I joined the museum! They have few snacks and cold drinks and a small area to sit indoors or plenty of benches and seating options outside. There is small conference room for lectures which might be reserved, not sure. Parking is somewhat limited, especially when there is a special event such as “Pokémon Go” events.

Sights & Landmarks
Perched atop Mount Penn, the Reading Pagoda is a striking seven-story Japanese-style structure with a rich history dating back to 1908. Originally intended as a luxury resort, it was later gifted to the city of Reading and has since become an iconic symbol of the area. While not open for interior exploration, visitors can still enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city skyline from its grounds, which are open daily from dawn until dusk.
The Pagoda in Reading is a really cool and unique spot to check out. The view from the top is awesome—you can see the whole city and the surrounding area. It’s peaceful and a great place to relax, take photos, or just enjoy the scenery. It’s also a great ride if you’re on a motorcycle. The roads leading up are fun, with nice curves and a good climb, and there’s plenty of space to park at the top. The Pagoda has a lot of history too, which makes the stop even more interesting. Definitely worth the trip if you’re riding through the area.

This spot is pretty cool,it's a long and winding ride to get here but it's totally worth the trip,we did not get to go inside due to renovations but it was cool just to see something that holds so much history, the view is pretty amazing,it was pretty windy up there but it was an unusually windy day in general. I would recommend anyone considering taking a trip up here to do it. If for nothing else then the experience of it. I think this would be a hot spot for watching fireworks on 4th of july

The Pagoda is being restored, but we still enjoyed a quick stop by! There was lots of parking and the drive up the mountain is fun, as well as pretty. The view is gorgeous, and we were happy to stop by despite the scaffolding. Will visit again when the scaffolding comes down and we can go inside.

The Reading Pagoda is one of Pennsylvania’s most unique landmarks, sitting high on Mount Penn with breathtaking views of Reading and beyond. Built in 1908 as part of a luxury resort that never happened, the Pagoda has since become a beloved symbol of the city. Its Japanese-style architecture stands out against the Pennsylvania landscape, making it a must-visit for history buffs, photographers, and anyone looking for a peaceful escape. Inside, you’ll find exhibits on its history, plus a gift shop. The best part? The panoramic view from the top, especially at sunrise or sunset! Whether you’re stopping for a quick visit or spending time exploring, the Reading Pagoda is a true hidden gem.

Great sunset views. Great place to take pics of ur car, great place to see the city lights at night n great place to view the mountain overlook. It woulda been a 10/10 but it’s a very sketchy area ppl wouldn’t stop blastin their terrible music which made it unenjoyable sadly. Luckily me and some other people bullied her into stopping but the loud music is a terrible problem plus the people up here who look like they wanna rob you for no reason. Cool spot tho otherwise
Miles M — Google review
Under major construction right now so really hard to get decent pictures and no access to the pagoda until they are done/ Such a landmark for Reading. The city is restoring it and I’m not sure what the target date is for completion. At one time it was supposed to be a nice luxury resort built in 1907. not sure that they ever got it going but it sure is beautiful!! They are taking donations for the restoration google pagoda reading for the site.

Nockamixon State Park, spanning over 5,000 acres in Quakertown, offers a variety of outdoor activities. Visitors can enjoy swimming and boating on Lake Nockamixon, explore miles of hiking and biking trails through forests and meadows, or go horseback riding and camping. The park features 11 marked trails of varying difficulty levels and route types to cater to different preferences.
My husband and I took a ride here after bike riding at another PA state park. Unfortunately we hit quite a bit of rain on the way and our bikes got soaked on the way. There were still storms pending so we drove to both ends of the marina and lake and took a short walk. It's a beautiful park and we will definitely come back another day when the weather is more cooperative!

We had a lovely day! The pool was wonderful. Clean well staffed with lifeguards, snack bar and bathhouse. Fun children's area with water features in the pool. There is a fee to use the pool. The picnic areas have grills and tables our area also had bathrooms. There are trails and a lake area ( no swimming in the lake) public boat launches. Nice way to spend a day outdoors.

Large State Park off of Rt. 563 in Bucks County PA with a massive lake to use for boating and fishing. There is a large marina where individuals keep their boats for the summer and visitors can sit on nearby benches to relax. There are multiple walking trails that wind you through the park, one along the water, through the many tree covered areas of the park. The walking trails are wide enough for bikers and walkers. You can rent boats and kayak's by the hour, cash only (there is an ATM there) if you want to experience the park from the water's edge. The park does offer many picnic areas with tables and benches if you are looking to have a gathering outside in nature. There is a large pool on site that you can use, there is an entrance fee. The 5,286 acre Nockamixon State Park is fed by Tohickon Creek, Three Mile Run, and Haycock Run. The lake area is 1,450 acres and features a rest stop for migrating waterfowl and a destination for boaters and anglers. Popular activities are picnicking, swimming in the pool, hiking, biking, disc golfing, hunting, fishing, and boating. Great spot to spend the day or just walk the trails to be out in nature.

Top favorite place of mine for hiking, exploring, fishing, vacation, picnics, soaking up nature and sun, reading, and much needed being by water time. So close to home yet you feel you have gotten far far away. It's it's own planet. The cabins are amazing. Every season has something special here. Kid friendly.

Lake Nockamixon is a beautiful spot to enjoy the outdoors! The paved paths are perfect for biking and walking, and there are also plenty of wooded hiking trails if you want something more adventurous. We’ve had wonderful family outings here — enjoying the picnic areas, playing disc golf, and even renting boats for the day. We also love taking our own kayaks out on the lake, and there are lots of convenient entry points on both sides. On top of that, the educational nature programs have been a great experience for the whole family. Whether it’s a relaxing day by the water or an active adventure, this park truly has something for everyone.

It’s never easy to find a place where the family can gather, especially since we’re spread out all across the United States. And just like finding a place is hard, picking a date that works for everyone is just as challenging. With that in mind, I chose a date and gave everyone two and a half months’ notice—plenty of time to mark the calendar. Of course, not everyone could make it, and that was expected. Nockamixon State Park felt like the right choice. Everyone showed up, except for those who live over 300 miles away. Even though they weren’t physically present, their spirits were very much with us. The day itself was filled with fun. The children had the freedom to run and play, racing through the wide open grassy areas and weaving around the trees. They could hike through the forest with an adult, or even go canoeing, kayaking, or just enjoy a boat ride. Outside, they could make all the noise they wanted—no one had to tell them to quiet down. The park grounds were clean, and although the picnic tables were “so-so,” some were in such poor condition they really need to be thrown out—like the broken seats at Parking lot Picnic Area 3. That’s a serious safety hazard just waiting to happen, for both children and adults who might not notice. Hopefully, the park will take care of that. The weather? Well, the rain showed up and quickly left - but that’s just Mother Nature. You have to go with the flow. The only real surprise was the pool fee: $15 per person. For a state park, that seems steep. Families who come with several children simply can’t afford that—$15 each for a family of six is just too much. That’s something I think the park should really reconsider. But aside from those small bumps, it was a wonderful day. A long-overdue get-together. A beautiful family event. And without a doubt, Nockamixon State Park was the right place to make it happen.
