Great family owned business that treats all their customers like family. Thier Guernsey milk is delicious and good for my own family. I'm lactose intolerant and by drinking this blessed milk daily I no longer have any lactose issues.

My kids love the “farm store”! I found out about their raw milk over a year ago now and haven’t bought any other since! My son’s favorites are the beef jerky and steaks and my daughter loves the chicken and vanilla yogurt. The soap, scones, keifer, granola- everything is wonderful! The owners are amazing and extremely knowledgeable. Coming across their store has led to many changes in how we eat/live. The Waldo Way is definitely a way of life we all need to know about!!
Ashley J — Google review
We've enjoyed Waldo Way's quality products for many years. This mindfully run family business is 100% Made in America which a plus. Their beef is unmatched in flavor. And, if possible check out that cream line on the luscious A2 milk! Ordering ahead suggested because their products sell out quickly.
Joy M — Google review
This place is awesome! Everything is delicious but more importantly, the nourishment I get from their offerings is just unbeatable. Their milk tastes like fresh sunshine, the kefir (especially the mango) sings on your taste buds, the BUTTER, I don't even have words to describe the butter. And do NOT leave without at least two muffins or you'll be sorry. Turning off the main road onto their road feels like going through a portal to paradise. Happy cows in the pasture, butterflies and dragonflies fluttering every which way, a dog or two to welcome you, and the sweetest, most dedicated owners who have so much knowledge to share! The place is pure magic and I'm so grateful to live close enough to experience its radiance. Be courteous when you go and don't expect them to just drop everything to give you a tour, this is a real working farm and they have all their hands full and then some. And save yourself the heartache of not getting your favorite item and order ahead! As soon as I hit Post on this review, I'm going to grab the best chocolate milk I've ever tasted from the fridge. For some reason I have a hankerin'. ;-)

I love shopping at The Waldo Way. If you're looking for the freshest, tastiest dairy products, look no further. And don't pass up their baked goods....delicious. They also offer a variety of meats, from animals raised without hormones. The people are very friendly and helpful. As I said, I love their products.
Sue B — Google review
I took my parents there today for their first time. The kids and I had already been a few years back. My parents were the first in Michigan to privately own robotic milkers. They are in their retirement years and were looking forward to visiting. Being full time dairy farmers, we understand what it takes to farm. This week is my first real day off since last April. We get it. We support what Waldo Way is doing. Unfortunately we showed up on what must have been a very stressful day already for the owner, and the welcome mat certainly wasn't rolled out. We were the only customers there and she wouldn't even make small talk with my dad about the robotic milker. We still showed support by purchasing a $12.00, 4 oz. Block of cheese. Last time we were there we filled out the paperwork and thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate milk and a few other treats. While we understand how stressful farming can be, I hope it doesn't continue to spill over into the storefront. If you are now only serving herd share members, like a CSA group, maybe there doesn't need to be a storefront for people like us who want a taste of local agriculture, to eliminate confusion of who's welcome there. Best wishes!

Incredible dairy products, meats and baked goods. Outstanding customer service and knowledge of their products. Do yourself a favor and get some granola and jerky while you’re at it. Once you have tried Waldo way milk, yogurt, kefir, cheese, butter etc. you will never want to buy dairy at a grocery store ever again. If you’re gluten free, they have the best gluten-free baked goods to cure your pastry / cake cravings.

Getting a gift card was so easy. My mother loves this place and she is always at her best after a trip to the Waldo way dairy farm. I live several hours away and thankfully, with just a few clicks of some buttons, she received her mother's Day gift and I could not be happier. And now I'm the best son ever I'm sure

Went for the first time tonight and we had a BLAST! Came with some of my family. we were a group of 9 and we are A LOT! Haha the bartender Lexi was amazing! She served us wine, beer, and rang up all our souvenirs and extras with a smile on her face the whole time! It was a great experience, we can’t wait to come back!

I love it! Great variety and reasonably priced. It's a really pretty store, I could see Miranda Lamberts personality all over the store. I want her cookbook and wish she could autograph it for Me. That would be so great and trust me, I would treasure it forever.
Debbie T — Google review
Cute shop if you are a Miranda Lambert fan. Lots of cowgirl boots, not my thing, but the shop had a variety of items for children, women, and home. I never bought anything for myself. Staff wasn’t overly friendly
Tina G — Google review
Service was excellent and food was fantastic. Fairly wide ranging menu leaves one with many choices for apps, salads, and entrees. We had the Texas twinkies and was not disappointed. Entree for us was the chicken fried ribeye and wife had honey chipotle glazed salmon and was equally appealing. Strongly recommend the Pink Pistol Resturant.
Mark J — Google review
This place is amazing. As a woman we can spend way to much here yet I don't regret it at all. Very well made products and many different ideas to choice from. All staff was very happy, friendly and helpful.
Cherie S — Google review
I would have to say this store is absolutely amazing this is my second trip with my Girlfriend and every time she always smiles ear to ear. This time we had Emily and Wanda taking care of us they did a absolutely amazing job the were super nice and helpful. I sat at the bar while she shopped but they entered into a conversation that helped passed the time while she was shopping. If you want a great experience come here "We will be back SOON"..
PerfectTarget07 — Google review
This is a boutique filled with Miranda Lambert related clothing and accessories. There are tons of tee shirts in all colors, styles and sizes, along with jewelry, candles, and assorted mugs, glasses, etc. In the rear of the store is a tasting room for wines produced by Red 55 , a winery owned/operated by Lambert's parents at a local farm. This is primarily a ladies site, but it was fun looking around and tasting some wines. They also have flavored olive oils and balsamic vinegars from their farm. I didn't taste THOSE, of course, but some of the wines were not bad. But for quality wine, stick with your local store.

I love Miranda Lambert, Pistol Annie's and The Pink Pistol! I will be back any chance I get! It's a lot better and bigger than the one that was in Oklahoma. I bought a shirt, hoodie and a koozie on this trip and can't wait to put them use! MIRANDA IS THE QUEEN! 💖👑🐶🐎🍨🌵🍺🍷

Mineola Nature Preserve Equestrian Trails & Derby

Nature preserve
Nature & Parks
Hiking area
Nature & Wildlife Areas
I come here to hit the nature trails and enjoy the gardens. The start of the Johnnie Bendy Trail is treeless for a few but once you get down into the thick of it it’s really nice and woodsy. This place is huge, the pavilion is nice and big with restrooms, the trails are awesome, love coming here in all seasons.
Roxy A — Google review
Been on most of the trials…you won’t be disappointed. It’s all beautiful.

Fantastic trails, nice bathroom and you can see lots of wildlife. We were able to see Big Al. :) It is such a cool experience.
Marcie B — Google review
Such a lovely place to walk. If you have young children there is a great playground, fishing pond, picnic areas and restrooms. My grandkids really loved looking at the little garden area that was attracting butterflies bumble bees and even humming birds in early October. I heard a young lady telling her dad she cut her run short as she encountered an alligator.
Rosalyn L — Google review
Beautiful nature preserve park that is maintained by the city if Mineola. Nature trails are well preserved. Pack a lunch with your drinks to come here. Lots of picnic tables, but no concessions at this time. Bathrooms are under the pavilion, although they also maintain a Porto potty close to the playground. Not far off of hwy 69, would be easy to get too.
Rebecca F — Google review
I've lived in the area all my life and have never been to the Mineola Nature Preserve, and boy, have I been missing out. I didn't have a whole lot of time, but with what I didn't get to see, it's a beautiful place, and I look forward to going back to experience more.
Kendra F — Google review
Always love my walking time here! They have clean nice trails, fishing, ponds, cool bridges, totem pole, nice restrooms, big play area, covered picnic area, cool windmill, beautiful wildflower & butterfly garden, archery, equestrian trails, disc golf course, bee hive & wildlife viewing stations, just to name a few things! They have 3 different pond areas, very nice covered pavilion that can be rented out, an amphitheater great for field trips or weddings, and equestrian area with parking for trailers. This preserve is so peaceful & beautiful no matter how many people are out there, it’s never too busy to enjoy it!
Tena C — Google review
Always one of my most favorite places to go so close to home! There is so many cool features about this preserve that you almost just have to visited your cell to see them all! There is something cool every season to see. The fact that it cost you nothing to get in makes it the perfect place for field trips, small day hikes, In a great place to take kids of all ages! Several of the trails are paved, well marked, & easy to walk on. When the water level is low you can see some of the old train bridge trestles still left in the pond! The rest of them you can see on the trail that takes you to saving the river. Incredible play area, covered picnic areas, disc golf course, equestrian trails, primitive camping, fishing, etc! Restrooms are super clean, & cold water fountains! Fun for all outdoor loving ages!

Kiepersol Winery is a farm-based establishment that offers wine tasting, spirits distillery, gourmet gifts, and a restaurant. Visitors can also opt to stay in their bed-and-breakfast accommodations. The winery boasts an excellent host who expertly explains the different wine and food pairings during presentations, leaving guests with unforgettable experiences. The family-owned winery provides ample parking and has an open atmosphere that welcomes all visitors.
Mix and match wine/spirits tasting for 20$. Kevin was respectful and accommodating. Excellent peaceful place to relax and unwind. Barrel no 33 was by far the best of the tasting: velvety, fruit on the nose, smooth, and delicious. Jimmys 10year is the oldest bourbon in Texas, 128.1 proof, and rich in color. Flavor was complex, warm, and rich. Definitely would return. Indoor and outdoor seating. The Italian sandwich with pesto, with salami, pepperoni and cheese was 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 not to mention perfectly crisp.

Very laid back atmosphere and great service. Quite the selection of cocktails. The Old Cuban was surprisingly delicious, but the brandy, served neat, missed the mark for me.
Ed E — Google review
We went on a girls night out and had such a great time. This place is so beautiful. The staff was so sweet and so helpful on helping us pick the perfect drinks, and they were incredible. The atmosphere was amazing, we sat outside and it was perfect, but they do have a beautiful inside area. We ordered a light snack, but they do offer food. We were dressed very casual and so were most people, but it is a place where you could dress up. I would highly recommend this place.

Visited the Winery, Restaurant and stayed at the Inn for one night. Absolutely Delightful experience!! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and romantic getaway.

If you haven't visited the Grand Room and taken a tour... you are missing out!! What a wonderful afternoon we had with Marnelle as our guide through the history of Kiepersol, the winery, the distillery, then topped off with a tasting of wines and spirits. Right here in our backyard is a Fabulous place to find your Zen... to discover wine and purely relax. Marnelle was joined by Emily in the Grand Room and their service, knowledge and passion for the wines is amazing. We will be back... again and again! I'd give 10 stars if I could!! Delicious wines and spirits... excited to be in the Club!
Kathy S — Google review
Kiepersol is amazing!! The wines are top notch, and their spirits are wonderful. The restaurant serves expertly prepared steaks. However, the best part is they truly care about each & every person who visits. They are the BEST winery/distillery in East Texas. 😍😍😍
D Y — Google review
We decided to die in here for their lunch and let’s just say it was amazing. Starting off the service our servers name was Grady and he was excellent. He exploited us a little bit about the history of the winery and distillery and also told us about the tours and tasting experiences they do. All our food came out in a timely manner, and Grady recommended to me a delicious wine called fruition which we also ended up buying a bottle of it at discounted price to go. My fiancé got the Cuban, which was an amazing Greek with their own rum as well. We ordered the bakery as an appetizer and it was amazing cranberry sauce paired well. A complementary bread was great. The presentation was great and I ordered the chicken Kiepersol that was amazing and crispy as well as you could taste the herbs that marinated the chicken. They ordered the filet mignon burger with sautéed onions, medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly. Overall 10/10 experience, food, service, and affordability.

The Historical Aviation Memorial Museum, situated at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport, offers a captivating journey through aviation history. Housed in the former terminal building, it boasts an extensive collection of exhibits, aircraft, and memorabilia. The museum's highlight is its WWII planes exhibition, providing a unique historical experience for aviation enthusiasts and history buffs. With tens of thousands of items in its archives and outside displays of restored aircraft, the museum also features a gift shop, library, multimedia theater room, and educational programs.
We had never heard of this museum until the day we went, and we are so glad we went! They have so many pieces of memorabilia from WWI, WWII, Vietnam, and more. There were a bunch of planes outside on the runway that we were able to see up close. Mike was very knowledgeable and taught us so many new things we didn’t know. Highly recommend!
Kasey E — Google review
We had the most phenomenal tour with Rick, retired USAF and aeronautical engineer! Extraordinary wartime stories paired with historical paraphernalia and retired planes. This museum (and its staff) is a Tyler gem! Our kids (10-14) enjoyed the visit as much as the adults. Highly recommend.
Matthew M — Google review
A Must-Visit Gem for Aviation Enthusiasts and History Buffs Alike! The Historic Aviation Memorial Museum in Tyler, TX, is truly a hidden treasure for anyone with an interest in aviation, military history, or just a love for learning. This museum offers a deep and insightful look into the evolution of aviation—from its early beginnings to the powerful, fine-tuned aircraft we see today. It’s incredible to see how aviation has shaped our world, especially through the lens of its role in different wars and the individuals who made history in the skies. One of the most meaningful aspects of the museum is how it honors the countless patriotic men and women who have served in both military and civilian aviation. Each display and aircraft tells a story, and you can really feel the respect and dedication behind the preservation of these historical pieces. Now, if you’re planning a visit—do yourself a favor and ask for Tommy as your tour guide. Even on the blazing hot July day we visited, standing in the sun was absolutely worth it to hear Tommy speak. His knowledge is unmatched, and his passion is contagious. He brought every aircraft and exhibit to life with fascinating facts, personal stories, and a great sense of humor that kept us engaged from start to finish. We genuinely left the museum feeling more informed, inspired, and grateful. Tommy, you were the highlight of our visit—thank you for making the experience so memorable! Whether you're a lifelong aviation buff or just curious about history, the Historic Aviation Memorial Museum is well worth your time. Don’t miss it!

From Tyler Rose Garden we stop by the Historical Aviation Memorial Museum. What a great museum. Lots of unknown facts. Both were super knowledgeable and you can see the passion in their eyes and hear the excitement in their voice. Great experience that I will repeat in the future! Go and visit if you never been there. I will recommend.

Great experience!! There was so much history, so many displays and the aircrafts outside were incredible. Whether you're an aviation expert or just someone that enjoys history, the HAMM is a great place to check out. Mr. Mike guided us on a +/- 1 hour tour where he thoroughly explained the evolution of the engines as well as the history of each aircraft that was on display. Will definitely be returning!
Carmyn H — Google review
What an amazing experience, HIGHLY recommend! I took a group of middle school students on a field trip to HAMM in Tyler, TX and they absolutely loved it! We saw planes take off and land in real time. We learned so much history and culture in a short amount of time. Bonus, our amazing guides were engaging and Spanish-speaking. Aviation offers so many careers and different opportunities for our upcoming youth! Thank you HAMM for the new knowledge and exposure! We WILL be back!
Melanie A — Google review
This museum is a gem! It contains a surprisingly large collection of aviation artifacts, including photos, uniforms, and print materials. The docents (many retired military) are very knowledgeable about the aircraft, including the engineering aspects. It is a fantastic place for children and adults alike.

American Freedom Museum

Museum
Specialty Museums
Museum tracing American military heritage with artifacts & equipment from the 1700s to the present.
I visited this place about three weeks ago. I really loved this museum. It shows so much of our history and, in my opinion, does a very good job of honoring our brave service men and women and their sacrifice for our wonderful Nation! The motorcycle ride there (from Dallas) was very good (back roads). The museum is very clean, and the collection is impressive (there's even a UH-1 "Huey" inside the building), the collection ranges from before the Revolutionary War all the way to our modern military. If you like presidential memorabilia, they have a signed item from every president (and other artifacts). The people who work in the museum are extremely polite and knowledgeable. I had a great time and will be returning, Lord willing with my family so they can enjoy it too.
Gabriel Z — Google review
We had the best experience at the American Freedon Musuem. The memorial wall is awesome and definitely stirred some emotions in my Somalia and Panama army veteran husband and myself. The hall of the presidents is very impressive with a signature of every us president since Washington. We only made it halfway thru the US history part before we ran out of time ,but we will definitely be going back to finish soon. It is a learning/teaching museum and totally free for veterans. A must when in east TX.
Angela V — Google review
Soooo neat! An amazing collection for such a small town! Really an amazing collection for a large town! If you haven’t been, you should go!
Dee M — Google review
What a wonderful place to visit. I went here with my family and my uncle, who is an army veteran of the Vietnam War. I learned so much going through this museum. There was so much to see and so many displays.
Jasmine A — Google review
This is a must visit museum in East Texas. Not too big, but 2 great exhibits—- war timeline and Hall of Presidents! Well done. Thank you so much!
Melissa H — Google review
This little gem is located on the campus of Brook Hill School in Bullard, Texas. The museum itself has two different areas, a presidential hall and a military American Freedom section which starts with the American Revolution to the Freedom we have today. The museum charges a minimal entrance fee. Spent several hours looking at the exhibits and reading the information. Emphasis is also on the history of the local area which you would not get at a larger museum.
Rebecca F — Google review
Incredible museum of American history. We took our 13 year old grandson and he loved it as well. We spent 2.5 hours there and could've stayed longer. We'll be going back.

I've been wanting to stop here for years and today on our way to Lake Palestine was finally able to make that stop! I'm really glad we did!! My wife and I really liked the handmade baskets they make out of East Texas Pine in all sizes and all kinds of shapes!!! They make them round, square, Texas shaped, Longhorn Shaped, in all kinds of different colors. The folks are really friendly, and they also have a few antiques as well as home wares for your home and kitchen! We bought baskets of different sizes for our 6 year old to gather eggs from our chickens as well as baskets to put vegetables from our garden in. I have heard that they sometimes give factory tours, but no one said anything about it today while we were there. I've heard the company has been in business since 1919!!! A very long time and they still make what I would say is not only a nostalgic looking basket, but very well still usable in today's times!
Afgrab55 — Google review
You can't find nicer people than the proprietors of this place. My sister and I visited and toured this place today in celebration of their 100th anniversary as a business. They even fed us. Interesting tour of the factory and very gift shop/outlet store.

**Truckers** I was a day late due to Walmart slow unloading. They loaded me on a Saturday. Takes about an hour. Getting in is tricky I went in the morning so no cars were in the way. As you cross the railroad make a wide first right. The dock is straight through the middle of the two buildings in a dead end. You have to wiggle yourself right into the dock making sure you don’t hit any overhead structures. Then back out the way you came in. The guys are cool and help you and watch that you don’t hit anything. I’ll come here again if the price is right.
Driving L — Google review
Longtime wholesale customer, but have had an extremely bad experience this year. We ordered baskets to be filled with plants and resold. Without any prior notice, the company has been unable to fill the order. We have thousands of dollars of plants purchased and on site with no way to get them planted. All of the finished baskets were sold to our customers, who are furious with us. we added to our production facilities to raise the plants, and now have no use for that 6 figure investment. The salesman we deal with told me the owner would call to discuss this issue. Still waiting for the call. Bad business, and worse character.
Blake H — Google review
Truckers Stop as soon as you cross the railroad and check in on the right, my dock was across the street on the left, easy backing and floor loaded in 3h. Everyone was really nice 🤙🏻
Nik — Google review
There was only 1 person working and she was friendly. We came so our son could see the production. It was 2pm and nothing fun nor exciting was happening here! The prices on the items in the store were laughable to say the least! We did purchase baskets made there. Everything else was very over priced! They had one very small planter for 65 bucks! It was flimsy and made in China on bottom. Just expected more in 2021 especially when baskets are taking off again.
Heather P — Google review
Since 1919, perfect stop for harvest baskets for your garden. All sizes and styles made from local pine. You can tour the factory too or an artisan will build a basket in front of you. We buy seconds with lids to stack for farm fresh produce and long term winter storage. Bulk discounts and farm exempt tax.
Christy A — Google review
Mr Haberle was kind enough to show my dad, my sister and myself, around his factory and how the baskets were all made! It was fascinating and something we have been hoping to do for a very long time. He will never know how much his kindness and willingness to show us behind the scenes, really meant to us! Thank you, Sir!

This place is awesome! Great family outing with just enough to entertain the kids but it doesn't feel overwhelming like many family activities...great spots to sit afterwards and enjoy the peacefulness yet fun to have music playing while picking the berries. Kids loved the sandbox and the store is awesome, too. We picked up some cherry bbq sauce (after we sampled) and the blueberry ice cream is the best I've had in my life...seriously might drive here on a Sunday with the kids just for the ice cream. Prices are very fair and for less than $100 we got a great family adventure day. And do not forget the blueberry donuts---best in the Tyler area by far! Thank you Blueberry Hill! I was sad to see the place is for sale so I hope the new owners keep everything the same! Love this place in ETX.

What a great place for a family outing. Fresh Fresh blueberries galore! The blueberry donuts and muffins were amazingly delicious! The blueberry iced tea was so refreshing! They had pies, and syrups, and jellies, and of course blueberries! This family owned farm was a real treat to enjoy and explore.
Larry T — Google review
Went here not even 2 months ago and really enjoyed it with the family! We had fun picking the blueberries. We even had blueberry ice cream, and I also got some blueberry syrup as well. Great day! I WILL SAY THAT YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE OPEN BEFORE GOING. I believe their website says that it is temporarily closed due to it probably not being blueberry picking season right now. We were there just under 2 months ago. I would recommend getting there right when they open, if they are open, and make sure to check the website before getting in the car. 😎✌️❤️

We visited Blueberry Hill Farms in Edom, Texas on Saturday, June 21st and had a wonderful experience! It’s a charming spot not too far from Dallas, perfect for a weekend outing. The farm itself was lovely, and their store was full of great finds. We especially enjoyed the blueberry donuts, pies, pickles, and jam—they were absolutely delicious! This was my fifth year coming to pick blueberries and its always a beautiful experience! Fresh blueberries, great customer service, great selection of items in store and delicious desserts/drinks. I can't wait to come back to pick blackberries once they are ready.

Wonderful place to visit, homemade pies, blueberry coffee, scones, and a variety of flavored jams and several rows of wonderful blueberries located just on the outskirts of Edom, Texas. Watch as they make their blueberry donuts. You have the option of either picking your own fresh blueberries or buying a bucket already picked . Adorable shops line the main street of this small quaint town. It's definitely a must-see !!! Can't wait to visit again.

We visited for second consecutive year and will keep on visiting for the following years as well. Very welcoming helpful staff. A healthy and interesting summer activity for my family. My kids love to compete each other in picking the best and most berries and the owner shares the location for good bushes as well by color markers (we found the pink ribbons tied to the rows with ready to pick berries. A good advice is to have fun picking up the berries but then try to purchase the ones picked by the farmers because they are experts. Secondly try to be here as early as possible in the morning to avoid summer heat.

I have taken my kids here every summer for 15 years. Great family outing and delicious blueberries. The blueberry soft serve ice cream would be worth the trip from Dallas all by itself.

We had a fantastic time today with the grandkids at the park! We signed-up for the Zoo Bundle and for the exotic encounter opted for the Monkey Encounter, which was the highlight of our trip and we also really enjoyed the Baby Room. We really "connected" with the Monkey's, though suggest if you're wearing prescription glasses to leave them behind because the Monkey's will take anything out of your hands...or off your face. Definitely plan to return as it's a must see when you're in the area!
Jim P — Google review
This zoo is amazing! Super friendly people especially Anita! The encounters are super worth it. Definitely coming out more often! Also if you have small children all the animals do well with them 😊
Miranda R — Google review
Yes it was expensive, but you get what you pay for! I went with my mom and my 2 kids and we had the most amazing time! You can tell the owners take great care of all the animals, they're very knowledgeable and loved to educate. Everyone was friendly, no waiting in lines, and tons of shaded areas for people and animals. Picnic tables were a bonus, clean bathrooms, and the animals looked healthy, happy, and so very friendly. Truly an amazing experience to be able to interact up close and personal with a kangaroo, otter, lemurs, monkeys, caracal kitten, and sloths. I would love to go again but we're from Iowa.
Beth L — Google review
Unique experience, no rush atmosphere. Staff very friendly. Gave it a 4 only because the gator walk out Bridge I felt definitely needs repairs. We did the monkey and sloth experience and loved it. Compared to other little zoos you have a lot more up close experience. Can't wait to take the grandkids out, but we will avoid the gator area and watch them from a distance.

Had so much fun here. Haven't been there in 5 years. The new owner Josh is awesome. The animals were really sweet and well cared for

Took a spur of the moment trip with our 5 kiddos and they all enjoyed it! I was worried because we didn't have our stroller for the toddlers but we all enjoyed it! Gregory was our favorite ❤️ We went around a couple times! Definitely something fun to do if your kiddos enjoy animals.

Me and my family had so much fun! We traveled over 16 hours to see some family in Texas and decided to visit this place. They were doing some renovations so it was a little bleak looking, which made us a bit hesitant but NO, we had a blast! My son got to see so many animals and feed them, and the baby room was AMAZING. Please heavily consider visiting the baby room; the animals are always changing when new babies are coming into the world! So much fun, will definitely return❤️
Sheridan B — Google review
Wasn’t sure what to expect but it was pretty neat. My daughter did the money experience where she was in with the monkeys holding them and playing with them for 15 minutes. Made her say. The baby room was neat too with the baby kangaroos, goats and ferret. Nice outing for a few hours.

We had a group of 8 guys take a weekend trip this past weekend and everything was perfect. The course was in great shape especially for December and the Double Eagle accommodations were outstanding. In addition, everyone we interacted with from the pro shop, bar/grill, and beverage carts were as nice and accommodating as they come. Tiffany made it extremely easy to book our stay and tee times. We came with 8 and after a few pictures of the course and lodges we already have 16 guys for next year. Great resort and course!
Alec S — Google review
Not a bad course it does need some work. The greens was fast which is awesome the maintenance was decent (they was working on improving it) and the main thing is the cart path do need a lot of work. The pro shop was decent it was more on the basic side. The bar and grill area was decent size a bit dated in that area. The cart girl was great she made good drinks and a good outfit.
Charles B — Google review
One of my favorite courses in Texas. The course is always in wonderful condition and the accommodations make for great weekend getaways. Well worth the drive. Every time I leave, I'm counting down the days until I go back... which reminds me, it's time again!
Rob L — Google review
Course itself was very fun and mostly well maintained. A few deadspots on some of the greens which is a bad look for a $160 round. Had first tee time at 7am and there were no range balls available to warm up with until after we teed off. Told we needed to check with the starter but wasn’t there until after our scheduled tee time. They had us not hit our approach shot onto the first hole because they had not changed the pin location and had us wait to do that. Seemed very poorly managed although beautiful course. Absolutely not worth the money to play in my opinion and did not live up to expectations unfortunately. Not planing on coming back.
Patrick F — Google review
Great conditions, very fun layout. One of my favorite courses. Made for a great bachelor trip weekend! Staff did great even through a tough weekend of weather.
Hayden L — Google review
Great experience coming up for a Wednesday/Thursday quick trip. We were one of a handful of groups on the entire course. Challenging tee shots, fast greens, and excellent bunkers. We stayed in the two bedroom condo off 18 green, outdated but if you are just going to drop off bags and sleep it is adequate. All the staff were nice and accommodating. Loved all the Branded Bill hats. PSA. Someone in group should stay sober so you can drive into Palestine to eat dinner (we went to Pint and Barrel Drafthouse but there are lots of options) since the restaurant closed before we were ready to eat dinner.
Terence S — Google review
Review is for the condition. Played this course a few years ago and it was in great condition. Wanted to play it again as im visiting. Played it today and I can honestly say I’m throughly disappointed in the condition it was in. Tee boxes were atrocious. Extremely tight lies to hit iron or wedge shots. This course is not worth the 139.00 that was paid to play today. With that kind of rate I expect a lot more out of course conditions and not dog track course conditions.
Ryan H — Google review
Our DFW-based golf league played our 10th annual 3-day Ryder Cup style event out at Pine Dunes in early November. The weekend was off the charts. The course was in unbelievable shape for November. It helped that we had perfect weather, but conditions were great. Staff was extremely helpful, not just on the weekend itself, but for months leading up to the event management worked with us to get everything how we wanted it. For the price, Pine Dunes can't be topped. We can't wait to get back out there!

We had the best time zip lining! We were looking for an adventure for my son’s 14th birthday when I found this. Booked for 9 people, ages ranging from 10 - 65 years. Everyone was so helpful and the guides were great! We had a couple people in our group that are afraid of heights, but thanks to the guides and feeling safe the whole time, everyone had a blast. If you’re thinking of going, do it! And do the whole 9 lines. Totally worth it! My son had a wonderful time on his birthday.

This was an epic day! The guys helping are so nice and so knowledgeable. We felt safe and had an absolute blast! We had the privilege of taking our 85 year old friend to check off a bucket list item. The staff treated her like a queen! I can't wait to go back. Bonus: the views are INCREDIBLE!

This place is a hidden gem! The owner Heith made our visit a pleasant experience. We went to the place after making a reservation with 5 and 7 year old kids and Heith was so accommodating to everything he could so that our kids get experience zip lining. The views are amazing and highly recommend this place (especially if you are staying at the Piney Wood Cabins). This was our first time trying Zip Lining and we had a great time.

My husband and I had a great experience and the staff was very friendly! Forgive me but I can't remember the lady's name but she took our photos and was the sweetest out of the bunch. Carson was a hoot! Great conversation on the porch. The younger gentleman Christian was very kind and talkative. Recommended Twisted Root Burger in Athens (Thanks dude it was awesome!) And finally shootout to our 4 legged friend Woody! When we come back, we'll be sure to bring you and your buddy a new toy. Thanks yall!

Such a great experience all around. Not just the fun but the people who runs it and the owner. We had a great time with the family meeting other group as well. First of all the view is stunning. They are the highest point in East Texas. Soak in the view when you are there. Lots of shade and a huge front porch to hangout as well. If you are going in the summer, pick the earliest time. They have everything you need. If you are going to video, bring your camera with its mount. They have GoPro mount but be sure to bring all the parts with you. If you have a large group, call and ask if you can have a snack or picnic by bringing your own food. This is a great place for family or groups or any kind of celebration. Highly recommended this.

Flea & Street Markets
First Monday Trade Days is a well-established flea market that operates for four days each month, offering a wide range of antiques, collectibles, and unique items. While this event has put Canton on the map, there's much more to explore in this picturesque East Texas town. Visitors can enjoy activities such as golfing at scenic courses, experiencing thrills at the water park, and indulging in fishing adventures.
We loved it!! So many great finds, it was hard to decide what to fit in the car. Great selection of food, plenty of parking, and just about everything available for purchase. Love to support local artists and craftspeople and they are ALL HERE.

PROS: 1) great way to entertain a young family 2) dependable selection of live plants and Mexican imports 3) free entry and hours of browsing 4) dog friendly 5) lots of parking 6) scooter rentals available 7) toilets in every building 8) friendly vendors & staff CONS: 1) typical State Fair Sham-Wow Bldg goods (very little hand-made or artisan ware) 2) very few vintage clothing booths 3) not designed for resellers 4) weather dependent I came on a reconnaissance mission for my vintage shop and made sure to walk the entirety of the grounds so as to offer a fair report. This is a typical flea-market set-up except this one is huge and has pavilion like buildings. One is reminded of the merchandise advertisement building at the State Fair selling Sham-Wows, hot tubs, and cheap Chinese trinkets. This is that. But bigger. A reseller may find some one-offs but not enough of anything at good value for stock. What it lacks in use for a resellers business it’s loaded with in Southern charm! The food offerings range from barbecue to funnel cake, chicken salad sandwiches to fried corn. Grab a beer or a coffee and relax while strolling with friends through the live plant selections and the cool metal yard art displays. At least half is outdoors and weather dependent so bring an umbrella, walking shoes, and a cart.
Raven R — Google review
This place has so much to do, you’re guaranteed a full days worth of activity and walking through all the vendors. Great for people who enjoy flea markets like me, not great for people who don’t want to walk a ton. Love it!
Sam P — Google review
Been a long time and FYI have to reserve carts before you get there. The mountain and that whole area is 90% closed. So just the main area is still open. Soo crowded. Everything closes by 5. Get there early, eat at 11. After 11 there will be a 30 minute wait everywhere. The app is horrible, doesn't show where you are and no search function. BUT, got some really good deals and unique finds.

Rene H — Google review
Check website for cost to park - otherwise it's free. This place is HUGE so expect a lot of walking on gravel, paved walkways, grass, and stairs. If you're looking for anything specific, utilize the map to find those areas. There's vendors both inside the buildings, in the open-air roof-covered areas, and out in the fields on the grass. You can find everything from antiques to homemade salsa to country wear to kawaii to toys to furniture. Certain areas feel like a farmers market and certain areas feel like a flea market and certain areas feel like a thrift store. It's an interesting mesh of mostly overpriced vendors with food options/trucks sprinkled throughout. The scooters that can be rented were practically racing through areas with fragile items and clogging up busy walking spaces so keep a look out so you're not run over. I saw one woman on a scooter smash into two tables of glass and get stuck and blame the vendor for the tight space.

We had a rented cabana and had a wonderful server named Alex. He was very busy and rushing around to help everyone. The management of splash kingdom sent him home for trying to help. We found a wasps nest inside our seating after one of our members were stung. We had lots of children and had told multiple workers. Alex had to run some food orders as it was VERY busy and he was serving 24 people easily. He told us to move to the cabana next to us until they got spray. Management came over to the cabana we were sitting at and had an attitude with us asking if we rented it and we explained the situation. She was very rude and snarky. She told us someone rented this cabana and we’re going to want it. Which I replied and said we would move but I’d like the furniture in ours to be moved and replaced so no one else was stung. She left and never came back. Shortly later Alex had come by to let us know he was going home and wouldn’t be able to serve us the rest of our visit. They sent him home for trying to ensure the safety of our children and other guests. Very disappointed in their rude management and the way they treat their employees. I asked why they sent him home and was told it was because he was supposed to take care of the wasp situation even while trying to run food back and forth for 24+ people. Out of everyone we told Alex was the ONLY person to help. Thank you again Alex and don’t forget your worth. Find a job that appreciates your hard work! You were wonderful given the circumstances.

First, we had great fun, and the kids loved it. Of course, the hot sun is hard, so bring plenty of sun skin protection. It was very busy with long lines for the rides, but it is worth it. Everything was very nice, and the staff was great answering questions and helping when we needed help. We enjoyed our time here. Yes I recommend.

My family had a blast! I want to share that if you're military, wait to purchase tickets at the door. The cooler pass is worth it! Bring food for the whole family! They do have drink passes at the door for $8 a person. We rented a cabana. It was worth it. We got drink bands. Our server filed us up and took our food order. So no waiting in line! This also helped our daughter with celiac not get contaminated food. There are lots of water slides and one of those surf areas too! Lazy river and wave pool along with several kiddie areas. Don't forget to play in the bubbles! I would recommend for the cabanas to get pull down shades. If this review helped you, please give it a thumbs up! #crazykleinadventure
Emily K — Google review
I am giving this park 2 stars, because the staff was super nice, there were plenty of lounge chairs, and the lines weren’t super long. HOWEVER… the bathrooms and lazy river were INCREDIBLY dirty. I’ve never seen such filth at a water park before. The lazy river was absolutely teeming with ants and bugs, and my daughter found a small dead frog in it. One of the worst things was that out of our party of 6, there were 4 of us that got stuck on the wavy pink slide. By stuck, I mean right after the first little drop, we all got stuck in the curve after that and had to scoot down. I am incredibly claustrophobic and had to force myself to deep breathe and remain calm as I took about 5 minutes to slide down. I had noticed people took a while to get down but when I asked the lady at the top she said “Oh that slide takes a long time”. I find it hard to believe they aren’t aware that people get stuck on this slide. My daughter in law said a little girl got stuck on there. They had to blow a whistle until she got down to the opening. There were almost no 2 person tubes, and the single rider tubes were almost all half deflated. Splash Kingdom… CLOSE THAT SLIDE or at the least alert people. You don’t want a small child getting stuck in there and panicking. This place was disgusting and I’ll stick with the smaller but immensely cleaner Greenville park from now on.

Saturday I would suggest not going. Hot, overcrowded, and stinky water, kids were sick for a week afterward from the pee water. Other than that, they had a blast while we were there. We have been before on not so crowded days, and it's a totally different experience.

Davey Dogwood Park is a huge and beautiful park with plenty of picnic tables and picturesque views. However, some visitors found the trails to be poorly marked, making it difficult to navigate. Despite this, the park offers lovely woodland walks and a fairy trail. While some visitors were disappointed by the lack of dogwood trees during their visit in March, others enjoyed the park's beauty during fall and are looking forward to returning for more exploration.
Love the lookout during sunrise. The Pavillion area is very big for lots of activity's. Big grassy areas for dogs/kids/outdoor games. There is also a covered Pavillion and indoor restrooms. The picnic tables are very private and clean.

Once you go through the entrance, you have a bit of a drive on a one lane road to get to the campsites and hiking trails. Once there, the park is hugh and a lot of trails. They had this cute one called the Fairy Garden Trails. It had different Fairy like things around the trees. Super cute!

Very beautiful park over a small mountain with forest around . It was late March and everything is green. There are many Dogwoods with beautiful white flowers, pure and very unique. The park is small but no crowds and very clean and quiet. A nice place for a family weekend out for picnic!
Yriver — Google review
Very nice park. We hiked trail #1 and enjoyed it. The restrooms were very clean and kept in very good condition. The suggestion I have for the park is to do more to mark the trails better. Perhaps that could become a project for a Scout working to earn his/her Eagle Scout designation??
Dave B — Google review
Huge and beautiful park for lots of relaxation! Lots of picnic tables for eating and picture worthy views. Only downside to the park is that the trails are not easily marked and can be quite tricky to find if you’ve never been. Once found they are nice. We also did not find many maps of the park which again makes it a little difficult to figure out where you are at and where the trails are. But overall a really lovely park with lots of land to walk!! Side note- We didn’t see very many Dogwood trees, as we were expecting tons! Hence the name. But we might have been a bit too early in March for them ):
Taylor H — Google review
Today we enjoyed walking around looking at all the interesting fairy gardens. The dogwoods were still in bloom this weekend March 30th but we expected more. The previous week was probably in full bloom before the rain knocked off some of the blooms. Our March 9th visit had very few dogwoods blooming but the redbud trees were pretty. I didn't see any redbuds today.

Chantal and her team are amazing!!! We had such an amazing experience. I tried scheduling massages and facials the week that we were going and she made it work for us. She was in constant communication with me and kept me updated. We were greeted with some really refreshing drinks and with her team ready. I definitely would go back here! The atmosphere was so relaxing and just truly enjoyed our experience. Thank you Chantal for the wonderful experience!! 5 stars for sure!!

I've been coming here for 8 months now. Chantal is amazing! She works with my ever changing schedule (even very last minute changes). She's very good about reminder texts! And the massages! Omg, she's brilliant! I can't give a review of anyone else because Chantal is the only one I've seen! Why shop around if I found a great one? The spa is very warm, inviting and homey! Not a "clinical" experience! Will definately keep coming here!

Highly recommend this place! Chantal is excellent at what she does! I was traveling to Texas from CT and was in desperate need of some relaxation time and a massage. I have a high stress job, physical job, and some prior injuries. Chantal listened to my needs and delivered great techniques that totally helped my body. This place is so cute and staff is so friendly! I immediately felt better upon leaving! I can not believe how accommodating they were with being able to fit me in. Staff takes their time with clients which made me really able to feel relaxed, I have been to other places where I felt rushed.

I had an amazing time at Purtis Creek State Park! The park is peaceful, clean, and not too crowded, which made it super relaxing. The lake is beautiful, great for fishing, kayaking, or just sitting by the water to enjoy the view. Trails are easy to walk and well-marked, with plenty of shade along the way. Campsites were clean, spacious, and felt private enough for a quiet stay. BTW, the restrooms were super cleaned and entry fee is $5 per person. Child under 12 is no cost. Overall, it’s a great spot to escape the city, recharge, and spend quality time outdoors. Definitely planning to go back!

Fantastic park, enjoyed every minute of it. Terrific trails, well maintained, and not too crowded. We can't wait to try the rustic camping areas and fishing off the docks next time. We saw a whole family of deer too, with twin fawns! Tiny frogs and fish too, it was wonderful and relaxing.

The calm lake was perfect for paddleboarding. Easy access launch by the boat ramp as well. I saw kayaks available for rent as well (no paddleboards). Trails are well marked and easy to navigate. Raccoons will get into your put up high trash. Take it to the nearby dumpster when camping before you go to bed!

This is a great state park close to Dallas Fort Worth, Metroplex lake has a history of some really great bass fishing the campsites, both with electrical and primitive are well laid out, and you’re not very close to your neighbor. There are kayaks for rent at the boat launch. If you’re bringing your own boat, this is an “idle only” lake. The lake is known for bass but there is also a lot of great catfish in the lake too.

Nice quiet park. Sites are level and easy to get into. Park staff very friendly. Hike trails are well maintained. Two fishing piers. We tried to catch but didnt have any luck behind our camp site.

It’s so beautiful and peace i can’t even describe.. the day we went was raining so it was very cold and mind that we went on the month of July… And after 12pm it was even colder which was perfect..everything was very convenient and the restrooms were super clean just raccoon was the main problem over there, be careful with the food and keep your trash secure

Participated in the Bow hunting Demonstration at Purtis Creek State Park and got to meet several Texas Parks & Wildlife volunteers as well as Purtis Creek State Park staff including the superintendent. I am solidly impressed with this park and will definitely visit again soon. Thank you TPWD for an amazing weekend.

Nature & Parks
Park
1460-acre park alongside a 2400-acre lake, for fishing, camping, hiking & horseback riding.
This was one of our favorite trips and sits high on the list of favorite campgrounds. It didn't hurt that we nearly had the whole park to ourselves since we camped during the very brief winter storm this year. That aside, the campground was very clean and well maintained. There were plenty of trails some of them very scenic, some of them simply meandering through the woods. The lake was beautiful and quiet and very serene. There were only a few boats this time of year and as mentioned, nearly zero people present. So we had nearly all of the wildlife to ourselves which meant we got to see a lot more wildlife. We did see a couple of bald eagles from a distance, which was a nice treat. The bird watching area was particularly cool and there were literally thousands of ducks in the cove. When they would get startled it sounded like an ocean wave. I can't help but think it would have been a far different experience if the campground was full like we thought it was going to be. But I'm sure it would be pleasurable either way, just in different ways. We will definitely go back.

Amazing camping sites. The pads are paved and the majority are level. We stayed at 69 pull through site with water and electric with a great view of the lake. Hiking trails were great and well maintained. The park staff were friendly and helpful.

Drove through and used the day-use area this weekend. Trust me when I say I KNOW this is not the most accurate time to get a reading of the park since it’s closing on Tuesday and people are rushing to use it while they can. That being said there was a lot of traffic when we went, and idk if that’s typical for the park year-round. I will say though that the bathrooms are tight spaces and the one I went to was quite messy. Again though, the messiness could be because a lot of people want to see the park before it closes. Another thing is that I’m not a big fan of the tent sites being intermixed with the RV sites. Lots of the sites are close together. I feel like you wouldn’t get much privacy camping here. However, it is unfortunate that it is closing down :(

This is a beautiful park! I saw deer, river otters, armadillos, possums and racoons, ducks too! It's spacious, clean and best of all, no road noise from nearby highways! Super staff. Major downer-swim area is getting taken over with some sort of lake weed. Sort of looks like seaweed. It's choking out the space and looks very nasty. The grassy bank area has lots of picnic tables and looked pretty nice but the water? Yucky. My camping spot in the Springfield loop was very nice and butted up against the lake but again, it's so overgrown with lake grass and the weedy stuff, you can't access it or really even see it, which is unfortunate. It would be perfect to have some lake access for kayaks and paddleboards right from the camping loops. The boat ramps seems pretty busy with big boat traffic. A lake side trail would be awesome too! I'd definitely come back though.

Beautiful state park, with plenty of hiking. If going in summer, make sure you have tick protection for you and pets, you will need it. Quiet, beautiful, and not terribly far from a small town. Day use area was nice, but there is a lot of water weeds in the swimming area.

Fairfield Lake State Park is a hidden gem for campers. Very quiet park with many pull through sites suitable for long RVs. Very little internet/ phone service. You can view a lot of wildlife while on the trails. The views are gorgeous. The lake stays fairly warm. The swim area can get crowded. It's a great place to unwind.
Giovanna P — Google review
Beautiful park with some very spacious sites! Our girls really enjoyed the seinic hike that was set up with a book donated by a local library to read along the way along with additional information to learn a bit about various animals that can be found in the forest. Great place and we look forward to visiting again!

Gorgeous place for camping and relaxing. The hiking trails are well marked and easy to navigate. Took one star off because the shoreline is riddled with algea bloom making shore fishing and wadeing near impossible. Kiddos were bummed about that. We stayed at cooks ferry site #97. It was very spacious and very clean. Bathrooms are great with hot showers. The connections utility connections are overall in good shape. A great relaxing experience.

Looks like a little place from the outside, but they have sooo many goodies inside. The baked goods, ice cream, hot and cold drinks( I got the hot chocolate -quality chocolate), and much more. I stopped on a whim.

This little store is definitely worth the stop! They have some throw back candy, and everything Peach flavored here is great! The staff are amazing too!👍👍🥳

Everyone has their different idea of "Peach Anything". As mentioned by someone earlier, yes, it has a bunch of cinnamon in it (but to me, personally, it's the right amount- and I am just OK with cinnamon). Everyone's taste buds are different. Personally, I would call this more of a "Peach Cobbler Flavored Ice Cream"- and I simply love it. They give out free samples, folks are friendly, place is clean, and there are a ton of different decadent snacks available (I recommend the pecan brittle). Oh, and if you are a "Pickle Freak" (like me), right inside the door, on the east wall, there is a nice variety of pickled goodies.- Well worth it to grab a couple! Almost as good as granny used to make...
Pete P — Google review
Really neat place. If you can stop, do it. They have a huge variety of sodas that will make you laugh. The only place I know that sales pecan oil and honey ice cream. Both are really good. Definitely a good stopping place. Akso their fried pies are huge and we'll worth the price.
Keenan C — Google review
The peach ice cream is absolutely delicious! Sweet, creamy, and full of real fruit flavor. Perfectly refreshing and a must-try treat for anyone who loves fresh, fruity desserts.
James W — Google review
This was a nice place to stop on the long drive between OKC and Houston. The ice cream tasted like peach cobbler with actual chunks of peaches in it. We also bought a bottle of peach wine that was excellent. Some of the non-peach items (candy & savory snacks) are over-priced, and the bushels of peaches were no better than what you find in any grocery store.
Amanda M — Google review
This is an amazing place, soo much good stuff.
Roy L — Google review
Its name is peach ice cream but there is nothing peachy about it. It doesn’t taste like peach at all. It’s loaded with cinnamon. Might as well call it cinnamon ice cream. Which tastes terrible. Their peaches are also hard as rock. Stick to HEB organic peaches much cheaper and softer.

Let me start by saying, the setup this winery is great. They have a bar/check out area, separate indoor seating in another room, outdoor seating, with and without shade, and bathrooms in a separate building so no one place gets too congested. The two women who served me my 10 wine tastings for $30, plus the glass, were great! I enjoyed chatting with them and hearing about the wine. There were a couple of dry wines I tried that were alright. However, this seems to be a winery that leans more towards sweet wines, as all of their best sellers are sweet. There is definitely a market for that kind of wine, but what I tried was not really to my tastes. I think this place is a lot of fun, but I'd come for the fun and experience, and not for the wine itself. But that's just me! Overall, I'm glad I checked it out.

Omg it was so amazing!!! To go on a family owned wine farm and everything is tied to family!!! I enjoyed the charcuterie tray and the fresh pretzel basket!! The wine flight was a true treat!! Made new rounds and enjoyed the atmosphere. Definitely will back from DC

Wifey and I hit Ennis for the yearly Bluebonnet thing and decided to finally try this winery. Would have been nice to park for free but $10 for valet isn't the end of the world. Very cool atmosphere for a Texas winery. The view isn't spectacular (a little surprising given the local area). The wine was alright, nothing mind blowing but then we're wine snobs. LOTS of sweets. My personal fav was the Cab/Merlot mix which was their best wine IMO. The pourers are mixed- one dude with a sharp button-up Shirt was very friendly and liberal with his pours. One lady poured like the wine came out of her personal winery. Yeah I get it's a one-ounce pour but really? Guess who had far more people at their station? Didn't matter as we each got the full $30 tasting and left pours on our tickets. We paid that forward to the couple who inherited our table. Excellent day though and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit! The build-your-own charcuterie box was reasonable and filling. Staff very welcoming. My only true complaint was the port-a-potties. Seriously guys? I personally could go in the bushes but I was horrified to see my wife forced to use them. Word of advice-take the valet $$$ and build some indoor plumbing bathrooms. I know we had out-of-staters there today for the eclipse and what a picture of Texas they are taking home lol. I know this isn't Napa but it's well worth the trip even if not Bluebonnet season. Would give 5 stars if not for the loo. Edited- I have since learned the reasoning behind the Porto Potties and the fact a surge in customer traffic could swamp the septic system (no pun intended) makes sense. Unfortunate, but understandable. The valet charge wasn't that big of a deal. Lots of sweet wine, but hence the winery name!

My husband & I had a great time at Sugar Ridge Winery. We went for our 12th wedding anniversary and I'm so glad we did! The atmosphere was very chill. The staff was very attentive and friendly. They had a musician (I think his name was Josh) playing acoustic on guitar. Every song I loved btw! And the food was delicious. We will be going back.

Was able to come visit some of Pearce museum. We got a personal tour from Simeon. Learned so many things I have never known or been taught before. This collection has some things that I have not seen before such as some cross hatch correspondence letters. Learning about how they signaled people on the underground railroad with quilts and colors was informative. I look forward to coming back when I have time to bring the kids to learn this valuable history!

Bucolic, sprawling parkland known for its wildflower fields, walking trails & lakes.
Nice park fir a variety of reasons. At Bluebonnet time, great place for pictures.
Bill F — Google review
My little woman and I went here to go view the Bluebonnet trail aspect in Texas. It was pretty nice to do something like this with your partner. The park itself wasn't too bad. Lots of people of course so it felt a little crowded but a cute little Park nonetheless with a man-made pond in the middle of it. Lots of grass area for the bluebonnets to grow through. There are two or three extra pictures in here that are from the actual trail and not the park but I thought they fit nicely because I did talk about us traveling down to Bluebonnet trail., which this park is part of.
Roland B — Google review
We sought out this park specifically for the Blue Bonnets. There were plenty of people who did the same thing. There was a smallish area covered in the wildflower, and that is where you found everyone trying to capture that perfect picture with the flowers. I tried with my dogs without much success! It is a nice park with a lake. We tried to take a walk in the woods, but it was too muddy, and we had to turn back.

Enoguh room for everyone ti take pictures. Many resting spots. There is a single bathroom 🚻. Parking isn't that bad
Sierra D — Google review
Such a nice little park. Easy to get to, right off the highway. My only complaint is they really should have some kind of park staff there making sure people are respecting the flowers for all to enjoy. Its disheartening seeing tourists trampling the bluebonnets for a picture. There are plenty of trails through the flowers. Respect the flowers so others can enjoy them!
Liz — Google review
I went there on First week of April. Did not see much blue bonnet like the posts on insta. But seen a decent amount.
Ishwariya S — Google review
This park is very nice. Lots of wild flowers, of course including Bluebonnets. A few playgrounds and walking paths to enjoy nature. There is a pond where we did see a few people fishing. The baseball parks are nice very open. The dugouts are nice and spacious. There is a concession stand and restroom were alright but could be better. It's a beautiful place to visit and plenty of areas to barbecue and picnic.
Vanessa — Google review
Oh my goodness! I can't begin to describe the total beauty of this park. The bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush were everywhere along the parks main route. Loads of picnic tables and a great walking path to stretch your legs. If you are going, please don't step on the flowers. I witnessed groups just plopping down right on top of their delicate flowers. Plenty of grass openings amongst the blooms. Be kind and let others have a chance to witness the beauty.

The inside is bright and cheerful and they even have an outdoor table so you can create your piece outdoors! We did this, since it was a beautiful day, and it was wonderfully peaceful and very pleasant. We definitly plan to go back again. I would definitly recomend this for a fun activity for kids or adults. A little word of advice though, is to book a time on their website, to be sure they have plenty of room for you and whomever you may go with.

My husband and I went to this office to apply for our marriage license, and were pleasantly surprised at the kindness and professionalism by everyone at this office! From the security officers at the entrance, to the clerk at the front desk, and especially Cassie who helped us file for our license, we were touched to have that special moment of applying for our marriage be so smooth and joyful. Thank you all for what you are doing to change the stereotype of government agencies into a positive experience!

Came here to fill a child’s passport application. The office was organized and friendly. Took about 15 minutes because we had all our documents. We came on 4/25, paid for expedited, the passport arrived today on 5/7. You will need originals and copies of originals front and back. Also you will need a money order for the passport and pay a separate fee for the application (for the application fee you can pay with your debit). Hope this helps. Lastly, their hours are from 8am - 2pm, not 3 as stated in google.

They require you to call for an appointment, but don't answer the phone when you do. Great, I'll just leave a message, as requested. No callback though. And I'm required to pay $35 per application for their "service", if and when I'm ever able to get an appointment?

Not friendly. They tell you just what you need to know, nothing helpful. Bring a bank check for passport fee, they don't take cash or credit. BUT they do take credit for their fee and charge you $2 to use! She could have told us this when we had to run to the bank. Also tou have to make copies of your license, any change and old passport- @25cents each. Really.🤨

Every country / city we visit , we always visit the local Museum, to help bring perspective to everything we arr about to see. However, most of everything they had in the museum was II WW memorabilia, which strike me as odd, giving the rich heritage of Waxahachie, Texas. Nonetheless, I do recomend the stop over and enjoy the beautiful southern hospitality at the Museum.

Fort Parker State Park

Lakeside park offering campsites & indoor shelters, plus fishing, swimming, hiking trails & more.
🌳 A Beautiful and Family-Friendly Getaway at Fort Parker State Park 🌳 We had such a great family weekend at Fort Parker State Park! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel completely welcome — super friendly and helpful, which really set the tone for our stay. We were lucky to stay in Shelter 8, and it couldn’t have been a better spot. Clean, comfortable, and just a short walk to some absolutely stunning lake views. Seriously, waking up and seeing that calm, scenic water in the morning made the whole trip feel extra peaceful. It’s the kind of view you can just sit and stare at for hours. The park itself was beautiful — lots of open space, quiet trails, and plenty of spots for the kids (and adults) to explore. We spent our days hiking, fishing, and just soaking in nature. It’s the perfect place for a low-key, family-friendly camping trip where you can truly relax and unplug. The only downside? There’s just one shower for the whole campground. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but it’s good to plan ahead if you’re visiting during a busy weekend. Overall, Fort Parker State Park gave us everything we were hoping for — gorgeous views, friendly people, and a lot of great family memories. We can’t wait to come back!

A beautiful campground! Be sure to drive down to the kayaking/fishing/primitive camp area on the far side of the lake to the Navasota River. Stunning! Beautiful sunsets over the lake. Frog chorus at night. White and great blue herons in abundance on the lake. We stayed here 3 nights in late-August, very few others camping.

Beautiful sites right on the lake. Was perfect for my 22 foot RV. However, any longer and I feel it would be very difficult to navigate in and out of RV area. (Though it can be done) There is only one road that leads down to a turn around that feels pretty tight. Water and electrical hook ups are available. Very peaceful area to get away and close enough to town to get food and supplies if needed. Good shade provided by the trees. Seems to be well maintained when I was there as far as mowed grass area. Some of picnic tables provided need to be updated due to appearing to be falling apart. Play ground for the kids is within a short walk from sites. Definitely recommend.

It's such a nice piece of history still standing. Not many stockade forts are still standing. Of course the stockade forts are so much fun to explore.

We attend a family reunion here every spring, and we thoroughly enjoy⁷ it. Some stay in the barracks there, some stay in RVs, and some stay in the little house on the premises. All of the structures there are historical in some fashion, including the old Fort. It's a beautiful place . I recommend it for a day or a weekend. There are water and electric hook up's, but no sewer or dump station for RV's. Full bathrooms are available, and there is a kitchen in one of the barracks.

OLD FORT PARKER The stockade-blockhouse fortress that you see here today is a replica of the original fort built in 1834 by eight or nine Illinois families who had come to the Mexican state of Texas in 1832 and 1833. This structure, architecturally, is typical of the forts' built by Anglo-American pioneers in the eastern United States during the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. In this part of Texas, which was then a wilderness, the fort with its log cabins located inside the walls offered security to the families who worked their fields located just outside the fort. On May 19, 1836, shortly after three of the men left to work in the fields, a band of about five hundred Comanche and Kiowa Indians attacked the fort. Benjamin Parker was the first to be killed as he approached the band in a gesture of friendship, and four more men were killed as they at-tempted to defend women and children. One woman managed to leave the fort and warn the men working in the fields, who in turn alerted four neighbors. The Indians rode away at the approach of armed men. Fearing the Indians would return, the men hid the small groups. of survivors in a creek bottom. The next morning, equipped with horses and provisions from the fort, the group of survivors, unknown to the first, started for Fort blouston on foot the day of the attack. Led by James Parker, they arrived six days later. 4 Two women and three children were captured in the attack. All but two were ransomed within a relatively short time. John Parker, 6, and Cynthia Ann, 9 both children of Silas Parker-lived with separate Comanche bands. John is said to have become a Comanche warrior, married a Mexican captive, and then settled on a ranch in Mexico. Cynthia Ann, resisting ransom offers several times, married a Comanche chief, Peta Nacorna. She was recaptured with her daughter at the Battle of Pease River in 1860 but could not readjust to the ways of her white kin. She died in 1864. A son, Quanah, later became one of the great Comanche chiefs of Texas.

I visited it during off season(January). Amazing fort with replica buildings and period correct artifacts. During tourist season they have reenactment programs that would be very interesting and would have earned 5 star rating. Check their website for dates. It was still worth the drive, just make sure you access the fort via hwy 14(NE entrance)

Read "Empire of the summer moon", go and see where action happened. Learn the history of Texas. Support what is left.

Great place to visit!!! I started reading Empire of the Summer Moon and was very curious to see the Parker Fort. My kids loved walking through the fort/houses and the watchtower! The admission is reasonable, however CASH only. The man said they were working on a card system and hoped it would be up and running in a few weeks. The grounds are beautiful! The people who run it are very nice! There are NO ' not touching' signs in the gift shop but the people will let you know not to touch anything if you do. Would recommend visiting in the spring/fall/winter. Watch for poison ivy out front of the entrance and out back through the low gate of the fort. We will definitely be visiting again when the weather cools a little.

The Hill County Courthouse is a gathering place for City of Hillsboro Events, the Hillsboro Farmers Market that runs from May through October of each year, and is the heart of Hillsboro. Numerous shops and businesses surround the landmark structure, and its restoration efforts garnered visits and support of George W and Laura Bush, and Willie Nelson, among other notables. Visitors love to come and look, but locals still snap photos and revere the courthouse structure, interior and lawn.

Hillsboro is a great town to spend a few minutes or a few hours if you are traveling. The courthouse is beautiful. They were decorating for Christmas when we went through. Had a walk around the square in the rain and captured some interesting photos. Don't rush through these smaller towns, they are full of history, great people, and interesting stops. Get off the main road and discover Texas.

This beautiful French inspired courthouse in Hillsboro is worth the 5 extra minutes off I35 to go see. If you need to make a pit stop, head to the bathrooms in the basement.

Beautiful courthouse. They've done a good job keeping it the same even after the fire.

It's not bad if you have to go in for something you need but if you're going for tickets in court and all that yeah don't like it

Beautiful courthouse! I second the comment on the bathroom in the basement. Very clean and modern.

The members at the District Attorneys office are very helpful and follow up. They even call just to check on you. Loving and caring staff

One of the most beautiful county courthouses I have ever seen. I had driven by on I-35 countless times before finally getting off to have a look. What a jewel, hidden in plain sight.

It's a very quiet, peaceful place. There was a woman waiting in a car outside of the main building who gave me a flyer, and asked that I put my donation in the box at the door, and with that she left and I was free to explore. There were some books for sale inside the main building, with a money jar for you to pay in. It's honor system, so don't be a jerk and steal.

Very humble and quiet place to visit. They do have donation boxes on the small building up front and at the church down the lane (don't be rude and pass these up, God is watching lol). It was very surreal visiting this location knowing what took place here.

Honestly, not much to see out here but there is a memorial site for the lives lost. Very quiet and somber. A $10 donation is requested per vehicle but no one was at the gate asking for those donations.

History can’t be erased and this incident happened no matter who fired first and 86 people died and lives were changed forever. It is somber to walk these grounds and see the scene of tragedy where so many people died, including children. The original structure is obviously gone but a new chapel was built on top of a portion of the burnt down structure. Wish there was more to see but was grateful the Branch allows people to come out at all.

Went on a Friday early afternoon and the gate was opened for the public. The road inside was well kept and the space was completely clean and safe for driving. The Davidic Branch Church building (where the museum is located) does ask for a $10 donation. Which I placed the cash inside the black box near the front door of the building. Very historical place that has left a mark on Waco, TX.

A surreal experience. Located on the outskirts of Waco, the rebranded branch Davidians are rebuilding this monument to their historical community. While the compound no longer exists, remnants do. There is a church which requests a $10 donation per vehicle. Worth a stop if you’re passing through Waco or interested in a deeper perspective into the 1993 story.

The history here is unbearably sad and eerie. Each tree planted along the road is placed for each person that perished. We understand the tree for David Koresh was destroyed.

Nice memorial to the 1993 tragedy. Not a whole lot there but for someone that has watched documentaries and things, its a neat place to swing by. Also only 20mins from the Dr. Pepper museum
