The Palace in Poudre Canyon is absolutely amazing! Offers obscene amounts of routes and climbing, not so much bouldering, but a few routes hiding around. Awesome hiking and a lot of places to explore here! If you climb though this is a Mecca. You will run into plenty of people who are in general fairly nice and willing to stop and talk!!! Super beautiful scenery and lots to do!! Wouldn’t recommend bringing your kids and family unless your a family in the climbing scene!

Fort Collins City Park

City park
Nature & Parks
Park
Sprawling green space with a lake & public pool offering sports fields, picnic areas & a playground.
Absolutely stunning, safe place to relax or take kids. Below are pros and cons. Pros: Safe neighborhood with everyone’s kids riding and walking around unattended. Beautiful green grass with well kept shrubbery/water. Plenty of space for events like soccer and some sort of lacrosse that was being played. If you play Pokemon Go, there are lots of pokestops and such. Animals are allowed! Lots of fishing spots for those that like that sort of thing. LOTS of equipment for those who play tennis, go on playgrounds, and need pavilions. Lastly, the entire neighborhood is stunning and well-kept. Cons: Parking was plentiful but still hard to find. There aren’t any food places nearby.
Raymond B — Google review
Great park. Usually not too busy. Tuesdays during the summer time you can enjoy all the food trucks your heart desires.
John F — Google review
This park offers plenty of space for family and friends to have a picnic or bring their pets. The open grass areas are perfect for a relaxing evening. The 4th of July fireworks are some of the best I've seen. There are a few unique fireworks, and with the reflection of the lake, it's just stunning. The show time runs for about 15 minutes. However, the only downside was how crowded it was. There was almost no parking and you might have to park up to a mile away. About an hour before the show, there were already thousands of people and it was hard to find a spot, so I recommend getting there early.
Abby W — Google review
Such a gorgeous park! From the moment I arrived, I was struck by how beautifully landscaped everything was. The grass honestly felt like a dream to lay on—it was soft, lush, and surprisingly comfortable, perfect for relaxing under the sun. Around the lake, I was greeted by playful squirrels and calm ducks, which gave the whole place an inviting and natural charm. There’s even a water park area that was open for public use, and on a warm sunny day it looked like the perfect way for families and kids to cool off and enjoy themselves. As I walked, I noticed a group of people quietly gathering near a couple playing guitars. Out of curiosity, I asked someone what was going on, and he explained it was a Pokémon Go event! That explained the crowd’s friendly and respectful vibe. Scattered picnic tables and benches made it easy to pause and take everything in, and the playground—even featuring a historical cannon—was a unique touch. Overall, this park offers relaxation, entertainment, and a sense of community. I will definitely be back to experience it again, because it beat any park in Houston, where I live, that I've been to.

Fort Collins Municipal Railway Trolley Depot

Step back in time and experience the vintage charm of the Fort Collins Municipal Railway Trolley Depot. This restored trolley, which operated from 1919 to 1951, now offers a unique way to explore the city's neighborhoods with its old-fashioned paint job and signature double chime. You can hop on and off at various stops along the route, making it a convenient way to see different parts of Fort Collins.
We finally took our grandkids on the Fort Collins Trolley. They were so excited! Big smiles and wide eyes all the way along the trip. What a fun gem to have in our community!
Robert M — Google review
Enjoyed our free 4th July ride🇺🇸! Wish the trolleys went farther. It would have been a better idea to expand this (again) instead of the highly unused Max bus line. A hard reality 5¢ public transportation 100+ years ago was better than “free” (transfort) today. A beautiful part of City of FC history. Thank you to the hard working volunteers to make reliving part of it possible.
J S — Google review
Holy cow amazing! The volunteers were jolly, friendly, and funny!

Fun 30 minute ride. The conductor gave a great history of the trolley. Well worth the couple of dollars to ride.

Margaret W — Google review
Last stop for the trolley, a little tiny building with not much else. There is a ton of street parking nearby and the park itself is awesome. About a 2 minute there are public bathrooms and a rest area with picnic tables as well. Lake is close by too so lots to see here.
Steve D — Google review
Lots of fun my kids loved it. It's a short ride from the city park to downtown but we'll worth it. My 3 year old daughter loved her trolley adventure, as did the rest of us!

River Rafting & Tubing
A Wanderlust Adventure offers thrilling whitewater rafting trips in Estes Park and Fort Collins, Colorado, on the Cache La Poudre River. The guides are highly praised for their expertise and ability to create a safe yet exciting experience. Visitors appreciate the emphasis on safety and the enthusiastic, knowledgeable guides who make the trip enjoyable.
We had an amazing time rafting with Jack on the BLAST tour! There were 6 in our party; two adults in their 50s & four young adults in their 20s. Only two members of our party had white water rafted before, but we all were able to participate equally after our instruction. We rafted on mostly class 3 rapids with some class 4 rapids interspersed and had so much fun! Although most of us were nervous before we started, we all agreed we'd love to come back & do it again! The whole staff at 'A Wanderlust Adventure' played an integral role in our experience & we can't recommend them enough! We rafted on June 1st in the morning and definitely encourage you to rent the wet-suit & boots; it made the experience very comfortable & enjoyable. We also purchased the photo package & were glad to be able to relive some of these exciting moments via photo/video.

It was our first time rafting and Tommy made it a great, enjoyable, and safe experience. Tommy made everyone feel safe and comfortable. He had extensive knowledge of rafting, first aid, and water safety - luckily we didn’t have to use any of it, but it’s good to know he has it. He also shared history of the surrounding area as well as info about the surrounding area & nature. The entire team made the experience fun and enjoyable. They were all professional, kind, thoughtful, and attentive while maintaining a playfulness with one another and our group. We highly recommend it, especially the beginner’s tour towards the end of the season for less experienced folks.
Maryellen B — Google review
We had an amazing time with Wanderlust Adventure. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had Whitney as our river guide, and she was absolutely amazing! We felt safe and secure, as she was great with communicating upcoming rapids and giving clear direction. During our ride, my brother fell overboard. Whitney was able to quickly and safely pull him back into the raft. We will definitely go rafting with Wanderlust Adventure again (and Whitney!) and highly recommend this rafting company to others.
Patricia M — Google review
What a wonderful adventure! White water rafting had been on my 'to do' list for many years and I was estatic to be able to check it off. Dan the man (a really cool Colorado native) was our guide on the river and he steered us safely from point A to point B. I highly recommend this activity and this company! So much fun. I'm already excited for future adventures here! Everyone was super nice and helpful. 🤗
Jessica F — Google review
Our white water rafting trip was absolutely incredible! From start to finish, the entire crew made us feel welcome and safe. Huge shoutout to our guide, Ryan. He was hilarious, fun, and incredibly knowledgeable. He kept us laughing the whole time while also making sure we felt confident and prepared. Everyone we interacted with at the company was friendly and professional. It was such a great experience. Highly recommend to anyone looking for adventure and great vibes. Make sure to get the photo package! 5 stars all the way!
Jodi S — Google review
This experience was transcendental. I have rafted Class V rapids in the DR, but yesterday afternoon I saw God in the Poudre River. I cannot recommend enough taking an involuntary swim if you have the opportunity. The guides will tell you that everyone in your vessel needs a paddle, but that is not true. Definitely freeload if you can. The water is low, but the spirits are high.
Meg V — Google review
We loved our experience with A Wanderlust Adventure! Everything was well organized and executed; photos are outstanding. Taylor is an impeccable guide - very skilled, engaged, and mindful. We will be back!

National wilderness area with steep, rugged terrain & a single trail for challenging hikes.
Always a peaceful meandering journey up the canyon that is that much more incredible during the autumn with all of the Fall colors blazing. Super-easy drive from Fort Collins, great for a Sunday afternoon. There are plenty of pull-overs along the way. And places to get out and stretch and to view the flowing river. Terry Bison Ranch Resort

Mentioned on
1 list
Dude ranch
Sights & Landmarks
The Terry Bison Ranch Resort offers visitors the chance to stay in rustic cabins on a bison ranch. Guests can enjoy train tours and horseback riding, as well as a steakhouse. The bison train tour is particularly exciting, allowing guests to feed the bison and take pictures while onboard. In addition to bison, other animals on the ranch include horses, chickens, cows and ostriches. The gift shop offers unique souvenirs for purchase.
This is an interesting spot. Pretty much a tourist attraction but has a large campground. Not fancy but tidy and clean. People were friendly. They do have a bison herd. Suited my needs perfectly because it was only 15 minutes from Cheyenne Frontier Days, my destination for a couple of days. My only complaint was that they only had 4 washers and dryers for such a large campground and 2 of the washers were out of order and the other two were full of people's clothes that needed to be removed. But I would definitely revisit again.
Sandy C — Google review
The people were great. It was convenient to our route and a great place for the dogs. LOVED the art work! (metal art and paintings). The gift shop and food truck (food was tasty, friendly service) were a huge bonus! They even had yummy gluten free options for me. I have Celiac and, had no issues. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this stop. We stayed in the RV so I'm not sure about the rooms and such...

We went to have am outing on our drive back to Utah and it exceeded our expectations. The kids absolutely loved it. Feeding the buffalo was a highlight. The guy doing the commentary in the train made us all laugh. We loved exploring. There was free hot chocolate. It really was awesome and worth the price.
Rachelle F — Google review
Had an amazing time with my son. We got to see many animals and they had places for picture taking. Bill the train guide was awesome! Very entertaining and gave history of the place and buffalo 🦬 There was a store for food and snacks and also a food truck! It was cool train ride to feed the buffalo 🦬 🚂 There's also a catwalk to see pigs, ostrich etc. Groupon had a great deal. We had a great time I recommend it.
Grumpygillz — Google review
It was great. My family had visited there and told me about it. So when I went to visit they took me to see it. It was like a small town that had everything there. The animals were well kept and very nice towas really anice place to visit look at. They had a variety of animals. We took the train and saw all the different areas and animals We even got a chance to feed the buffalo. It

The bison train ride was amazing!!! From the safety of the train we were able to feed cake pellets to the adult bison! (Buy 2 bags because the bison love the feed) Our guide was knowledgeable and made our trip memorable! The baby bison are adorable! The other ranch animals were awesome to see and the overhead walkway was a unique way to get great photos! The food was great and we brought home some jelly and other treats! You can’t do this anywhere else and it’s a MUST a see in Cheyenne, Wyoming!!!
Rita H — Google review
We just stopped for the train ride to see the Bison. But there were many more things to see. The staff were informative and friendly. The grounds and restrooms were clean. But the animals we encountered, amazing. Definitely coming back in future vacations.
Lance A — Google review
Our family was in town for the Frontier Days and we were wanting to go on a trail ride to see some scenery, etc. My girls found the Terry Bison Ranch and all it had to offer. The reviews were good so we planned to go. We got there for the 10:30 ride. They were running behind and for that reason they took a different route and cut our ride short to make up time for the rest of the time slots. It was really just a ride in a big field. We did see Bison, Prairie Dogs and a Fox. The people were nice and helpful. They do have animals for children to see. We did not eat at the steakhouse so comment to add there. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience.

Drala Mountain Center

Non-profit organization
Sights & Landmarks
Mountainside temple with a tea house & a Stupa shrine, offering Buddhist meditation & yoga retreats.
Just finished a weekend retreat at this beautiful sacred space. The Stupa is stunning and when you go inside there is a giant golden Buddha, with seats to meditate. Past the Stupa there is a shrine, where there is clear instructions on how to pay homage in the proper respectful way. The leaves on the aspens in the fall contributed to the autumn ambiance. For the retreat, Rooms were comfortable and clean. The two instructors hosting were incredibly talented at holding space and creating an amazing atmosphere and unforgettable experience. The food for all meals was delicious. The director Linda is friendly and nice. Would come back again for another retreat in the future.
Jessica W — Google review
What a beautiful location to recenter yourself! I love that you are free to be yourself here. The rooms were clean and quiet. The food was delicious. The employees are so kind and helpful. It is a great place for personal, spiritual, or professional retreats as you get to decide what you want to be involved in and how you want to organize your day. I would come back here by myself to get away or with another group to connect. Highly recommend!
Mary S — Google review
I just got back from a 3-day retreat and can't say enough about how great both the center and retreat were. Drala is a beautiful center with a rich history run by kind, compassionate, and committed staff. The food and cleanliness exceeded my expectations. The Great Stupa was magical. If a program calls you to this place, you can consider yourself lucky. I look forward to coming back one day and seeing what's the same and what's different. To the staff, thank you for your support and maintaining this environment for the benefit of all.
Karl M — Google review
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Drala. I just got back from leading a 4 day retreat at their center for 16 of my yoga students and everything was perfect. They provided us our own space for practice and lectures that had everything we needed (yoga mats, meditation cushions, bolsters, blocks, white boards, etc). The staff went above and beyond to make sure things were set up for us and were extremely communicative both before, during, and after our stay. The food was phenomenal. The rooms were clean and had what you need to rest your head after an eventful day. The walk to the stupa was easy and beautiful and the stupa itself is breathtaking. I will absolutely be back here to host retreats again and again. Our new home away from home.
Payton K — Google review
This place is mindblowing relaxing. When we went up during the week, we had nearly the entire place to ourselves. The temple is immaculate and absolutely stunning!
Tyler R — Google review
We didn't stay here. Just came up for a beautiful hike.
Stacie H — Google review
Such a beautiful spiritual place. Peace.
Ali G — Google review
The place is ok. Kinda weird and run down. Upon arrival, a blonde lady sped her car across the parking lot cutting my wife and I off to steal the only open spot. Later she said “sorry that one is staff parking only and I’m in a hurry doing laundry” We drove to another empty parking lot and a staff member kicked us out and said staff only. We parked a 3rd time and some hippy camper told us she wants to preserve her camping experience and said we needed to move away from her. So the parking is ridiculous and the staff kinda unprofessional. There were Staff only or out of order signs on refrigerators, elevator out of order etc. Buildings, fittings, doors etc were obviously in disrepair. The grounds are badly kept, needing weeding, mowing and trimming. The lodging is very dated and just a step above tent camping but not a refreshing stay like a nice hotel. Tiny rooms, no ac, springy bed good for a kid camper maybe. No mini fridge or other amenities. Parking 1/5 Staff 3/5 Food 2/5 Amenities 2/5 Gift store 4/5 Nature, etc. 5/5 The temple is cool but idk about staying again.

Big Boy Steam Engine 4004

Mentioned on
12 lists
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Big Boy Steam Engine 4004, the largest steam engine in the world, is on display at Holliday Park. This massive locomotive, one of only eight remaining in the country, was built in 1941 with a unique 4-8-8-4 wheel arrangement for hauling heavy freight over the Wasatch Mountains between Wyoming and Utah. The park offers ample parking and a pleasant area for walking and kids' activities.
If you're reading this, you probably already know what the big boy is. For anyone new, this is one of the world's largest steam engines. It was used to transport large amounts of freight across the plains and deep into the Rockies. With only a few made, this was one of the candidates to be restored as part of the Union Pacific steam program. It was not picked and has a great display in a city park. If you are in town or even passing by, stop and see one of these amazing feet of engineering before they had computers.
Adam C — Google review
Kept driving past this beast! Had to pull up and check this big boy out! Simply amazing piece of history! Highly recommend stopping and snapping some photos and reading the back story!

Great little park for the dog. Lots of shade. Love watching the trains go by. It can get loud but it is very neat.

We didn't get to go on the train but it was interesting to see and read about. That Holliday Park was a great spot to stop for a picnic lunch with our granddaughter on our road trip to Mt Rushmore

Must stop if traveling through Cheyenne to see this impressive piece of steam engine history. Free exhibit in park. Nice place to take a walk around as well.
Paul P — Google review
Just a train in a park but boy what a train. This is totally worth the stop! Seeing from the road doesn't do it justice walking up and seeing how massive it is is truly impressive

Cheyenne Depot Museum

Museums
Specialty Museums
The Cheyenne Depot Museum is a captivating all-ages attraction dedicated to the Union Pacific Railroad. Housed in the historic 1887 Cheyenne Depot, it offers a glimpse into the golden age of train travel and the role of the railroad in shaping the American West. Visitors can explore photographs, artifacts, and documents that chronicle life in Cheyenne during the railroad boom of the late 1800s.
I really had a great time at this museum and learned so much! The signs are very text heavy, and probably would not be of interest to younger visitors, but they do provide a great deal of background and context for the artifacts in the museum. A trip to this museum really showcases the train history of Cheyenne and how important the union pacific railway and depot were to the growth of the city. I think kids would like this museum quite a bit. There is a train for them to play with downstairs and an extraordinary model train upstairs. The observation deck on the second floor gives you a fabulous view of trains as they enter and depart the train yard. The $10 adult admission price was more than fair. We spent about an hour this museum. There’s plenty of parking and there are clean accessible restrooms on the floors.
LS S — Google review
Definitely stop by even if you aren't into trains. Very insightful. Down side is there weren't any trains to look at or tour. So kinda of a let down. The other big boy was at a park a few miles away and fenced off and homeless people hanging around so had to make it quick to see the train.
Scott N — Google review
Small museum inside the historic Cheyenne Train Station. The museum only covers a small portion of the station with the large waiting room coming the most sq feet. This makes for a great quick stop if you are in the area.
Adam C — Google review
This museum is full of information related to building the Union Pacific through Wyoming and its historical operation. A great HO model is upstairs. Adults are $10. Plan to spend 90 minutes there.

Visitors can explore a wide range of exhibits, from showcasing the National Park Service to delving into the state's topography and highlighting local artists.
The place is kinda old, a bit dusty. But the experience was good. I met this old man with his daughter, they seem to enjoy the place a lot like they haven’t been in a museum for a while.

Good museum to learn to about Wyomings history. It's just not the biggest, so don't count on spending hours there. The layout of the museum also wasn't really chronological, so there really wasn't a right way to go through it. Admission is free, which is a big plus.

What a great museum. The layout was amazing. It's very clean and organized. And the scavenger hunts make it even more educational.

There is a LOT to see here. If you are a thorough museum attender, it will take about 3 hours. Completely free, clean, and lots for kids to interact with.

This place was awesome. No charge for the museum donation accepted if you want. Very modern and well done worth the trip for sure! Stage coach #99 originally built in Concord, New Hampshire

Wyoming State Capitol

State government office
Sights & Landmarks
The Wyoming State Capitol, located in the heart of Cheyenne, is a stately government center with impressive architecture. Built between 1886 and 1890, it features a striking facade and a glittering golden dome towering over forty meters high. Constructed of locally quarried stone in a grand classical style, the building is open for self-guided tours on weekdays. Visitors can explore its elegant interior spaces including the rotunda with its stunning stained-glass dome.
We walked through the main entrance and were greeted by this sweet lady (I think her name was Bonnie), like it was her home and we had been invited to visit. She was full of info about the history of the building, the materials used (for marble from two states, one of which included fossils), the wood used in the railings, and that Wyoming was the first state to give women the right to vote, among many other things. This welcome set the tone for our enjoyable visit. We spent almost two hours wandering the halls, and the chambers for the Senate and House, appreciating the artwork everywhere, including the Four Sisters sculptures. This building is ADA compliant, and is rich with colorful and fascinating stories. It is free to enter, and open on weekdays. We are happy we came to learn about this building and its history. We are not from Wyoming, but it was well worth our time.

Loved this experience. Wife brought me into Cheyenne from fort Collins while visiting family. Got to check another state off my list and as we were driving in saw this amazing building. Stopped to take pictures and found out you could do a self-guided tour. The lady at the information desk was super helpful, absolutely wonderful, and a beacon of sunshine she and her just to go in to the offices that weren't in use and see the courts and where the representatives meet and all of it was absolutely amazing. To know that it had recently been restored and they had just opened a new exhibit for people on the bottom floor the week before made it feel really special. I loved the statues that they had around the rotunda and all the stained glass as well as the pictures in the corners of each of the large rooms representing the history of Wyoming. Best of all this is free It cost nothing and you learn a lot of history including seeing all the previous governors from their portraits hung on the walls.
Michael S — Google review
Very beautiful capitol, with a lot of wood architecture. I definitely recommend asking for a brief history lesson on the building, otherwise you might miss the Nautilus shells in the floor, and the old vaults in the basement. There is a lot of stained glass throughout the entire capitol, and very cool statues. You can easily spend an hour or 2 in there. Plus the bathrooms are clean.
Sadie K — Google review
The Wyoming State Capitol is a beautiful and historic building in Cheyenne. Even though it was closed on the day we visited, we were still able to walk around the grounds and enjoyed seeing the impressive bronze statues outside. The architecture itself is worth a stop, and the grounds are well kept. I’d definitely like to come back when it’s open to explore the inside it looks like it would be a great experience.
Mitch W — Google review
It's definitely a really cool historical building to visit. It has so.mich information on Wyoming, the government and how we came to be a state. There were many statues and paintings alongside just about every wall and the person giving out tour was kind and informative

I travel in an unplanned and spontaneous manner. I’m driving through from DC to Idaho… I stopped at Starbucks and asked what I should see locally that is architectural interesting. A lovely woman said see the capital as it underwent a huge restoration. It does not disappoint. It was open at 9 AM on a Saturday morning and I had the place to myself. The building was constructed in phases. It is beautifully scaled, and a fine example of early 20th century neo classic Western United States architecture. The exhibitions and the amenities rival any big city historical and architectural exhibition.I can say that because I’m an architectural historian lol. Well done Wyoming I recommend you highly.
Jeffery H — Google review
The capitol is small but beautiful. There are no guided tours but there's someone from the tourist front desk introducing some fun facts about the building (like the 4 statues etc) and guiding you directions of where to pay attention to.
Chin-Hsuan C — Google review
As a photographer, I was blown away by how beautiful the interior of the Wyoming State Capitol is! The architecture, marble details, and Warm light make it such a stunning backdrop for portraits. Every corner of the building offers unique character — from the grand staircases to the intricate ceilings. The staff was also welcoming and helpful about photography guidelines, which made the experience even better. A truly elegant and historic space for timeless photos!

The Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum is a historical treasure trove located in the heart of Cheyenne, Wyoming. This annual festival celebrates the Wild West and attracts over 200,000 visitors each year. The museum showcases an extensive collection of carriages, Western American art, cultural artifacts, and historical clothing. It also offers a glimpse into the world's largest outdoor rodeo held at Frontier Park.
Air Show, Parade, and Native American Village were excellent. Can't do all of Frontier Days in one day. Lots to see and do. Definitely a good plan to go to in 2026.

An easy break from driving ... hostess was very sweet and have us plenty of information of the museum and suggestions!! We have been driving several hours, so this was a pleasant respite. Small museum didn't take much of our time but it gave us exactly what we needed to take a break. Really enjoyed seeing the old carts from the wagon trail as well as the art on display. They didn't have a small store but it was kind of disappointing to see that most of the materials in the store were made in China. If they were more authentic I would have bought something but that is just me. It did not deviate from the enjoyment however.

Great place to tour around! Lots of cool statues and murals showcasing the culture and history of Cheyenne WY! Looking forward to seeing the Indian village that is being built.

The museum and hall of fame were okay. It's not very big. The stagecoaches were very interesting though and the staff was friendly. I was impressed with the size of the gift shop, they had so many high quality items. I am CFD's is much better during the rodeo. 3.5 stars is a more accurate rating for my experience.
Owen R — Google review
The museum was pretty good. I don't know how they left out barrel racing all together? Nothing, not one thing about it. I believe they included it as a rodeo event as long ago as 1906. May be wrong on the date, but they have definitely contributed to the attraction of rodeos and have definitely earned a place in the museum.

Abbey of St Walburga

Abbey
Sights & Landmarks
Monastery
Sacred & Religious Sites
I can’t believe someone wrote (4 yrs ago) to say they couldn’t get any of the nuns to talk to them, explore the farm and let their dog walk around. It’s an abbey, not a tourist attraction, rest area, or state park. It’s a place for contemplation and reflection. The sister we interacted with in the gift store was lovely, and the ground beef they sell is really good. We got there for the tail end of adoration and spent a few minutes in the chapel before we went on our way.
Suzan1mal — Google review
Visiting the Abbey of St. Walburga in Virginia Dale, Colorado, was a deeply enriching experience. Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, this Benedictine monastery offers a serene environment for prayer and reflection. The sisters’ dedication to the Divine Office, observed seven times daily, creates a rhythm that fosters contemplation and peace. The abbey’s grounds, home to grass-fed cattle, llamas, and bees, reflect a harmonious blend of spiritual devotion and stewardship of the land. The guest accommodations are simple yet comfortable, providing an ideal setting for retreats. Whether you’re seeking spiritual solace or a tranquil escape from daily life, the Abbey of St. Walburga is a sanctuary of grace and hospitality.
Witold K — Google review
Wanted to know more about nuns and the abbey. No one was willing to talk. Their gift shop was quaint, with a nice selection of religious things, mostly from outside of the abbey. The nun at the register wasn't sure which rosaries were made by the nuns at this abbey. We were going to make a purchase (a rosary and a lb. of the meat they raise), but her lack of care and her absolute disregard for interaction made us extremely uncomfortable and we changed our minds. The property is beautiful, but you cannot walk dogs on it. Just a heads up. Thought we were going to spend a few hours there, especially since the nuns have a farm here. Sadly, we weren't allowed access to the farm. Not the best trip. My fiance was raised in the Catholic church and he said to me, "I thought this visit would help renew my faith. But, it has done the opposite."

Two fantastic days of riding with Clara and Josh during our 4nt stay at Beaver Meadows Resort. Couldn't have asked for better "first ride" experience for my 14yo son: Day 1 with Clara and 2 other riders. Son saddled up Sally for his first ride in the CO back country, and I lucked out with Chief. Second day was guide Josh with just me & my boy. My son rode Josie--a beautifully powerful yet chill Clydesdale--while I got paired with Iz who is THE easiest, most pleasant horse I've ever ridden! We look forward to future rides with the stable, and thank Clara & Josh for such amazing excursions.

Such a fun ride! It’s absolutely beautiful in the forest and Millie was an awesome guide. We went slow as we had a rider who was definitely more comfortable that way in our group but I appreciated that they kept us all safe and the scenery is just stunning which is a huge part of why we wanted to do the ride. The horses are gorgeous and clearly very well looked after. Clara took time to introduce us to the newest member of the team (baby George) after our ride.
Victoria R — Google review
Great experience. Our guide Taylor was very accommodating with my daughters, 10 & 6 years old, neither had riding experience and she was able to use a rope to guide my 6 year old's horse. She had them ride at the front, just behind her, with 4 adults behind them, and kept them entertained and safe for 90 minutes! Stopped for a nice photo of the group. The kids loved trotting, and Taylor honored their multiple requests to do so. We were 10 minutes late, but still received the full 90 minute ride we reserved. Would visit again for sure.

My sister and I had a very enjoyable experience with beaver meadows stables! Our guide Grace was very knowledgeable and the trail was so peaceful and beautiful. We saw a couple of moose and Grace was quick to point them out and let us stop to get photos. The horses all looked very well cared for and our horses were great on the trail. We absolutely loved that our 1.5 hour ride was just the 2 of us and our guide. It made the ride feel very personal. Highly recommended! We’ll be back!!
Linda M — Google review
What an amazing adventure we got to go on with our trail ride guide! We chose the 1.5 hour ride and got to go through the stream, which was a huge highlight! The one downside was the cost. Not including the tip, it was $356. It was worth it as a birthday present for my daughter, but it’s not something we could do often. The campsite is GORGEOUS, and it made us interested in coming back to stay for a few nights. They definitely have a good thing going there! Thanks for a great trail ride, Taylor!
Darcy P — Google review
We had a great time riding with Cindy and Clara. My niece and I rode Texas Belle and Danny Boy. It was such a gorgeous day. We took the 1.5 hour ride which was wonderful. The water was flowing nicely and the trails were well groomed. The horses were also very well trained. That was my first ride ever and Danny Boy responded beautifully to my beginner abilities. He was truly fun to ride. My niece claims she now wants to buy a horse. 😏 Thank you, Clara for having such trustworthy horses for us to enjoy! Highly recommend it! 🐴
Brian A — Google review
Absolutely loved this ride. Helpful and courteous staff and lovely horses. Wasn't certain what to expect, but when we finally arrived we were pleasently surprised. Beautiful grounds and trails! I'd recommend the 1.5 - 2 hour ride, because one hour alone wouldn't be enough 😉

Curt Gowdy State Park is a recreational area that offers many outdoor activities for families and children. It was named after Wyoming's renowned sportscaster who started his career at local radio stations. The park has various campsites, hiking trails, reservoirs for boating and fishing, and picnic areas to enjoy with your loved ones. Additionally, the staff members in the booth and visitor center are very welcoming.
We had a non electric camping site and it was awesome. Very large all to ourselves overlooking the lake. Nice trails. The visitors center workers do their job but aren't really friendly, they want u out of there it seems. We enjoyed our time and went on many trails. There is no firewood for sale in the park

Curt Gowdy State Park is absolutely stunning! The scenery here is breathtaking—rolling hills, unique granite formations, crystal-clear lakes, and endless skies that make every corner of the park feel magical. The trails are so well kept and offer something for everyone, from peaceful hikes and fishing spots to exciting mountain biking routes and hidden waterfalls. The sunsets over the reservoirs are unforgettable, and it’s one of those places where you can truly slow down and soak in the beauty of nature. Wildlife is abundant, the air feels fresh and pure, and the whole park has such a vibrant, calming energy. Whether you’re looking for adventure or just a peaceful escape, this park is perfection. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Wyoming—it’s a true gem!

This a a great place about 20 miles outside of Laramie to get outdoors and enjoy some wonderful Wyoming scenery and climate. It is a great area for a picnic, a car tour, a day hike, rock climb or some overnight camping. In the weekends it can get a bit crowded but on the weekdays it is an absolute paradise While you are in the Veedauwoo area, it is worth a brief drive across the highway to visit the Ales Monument
Mojovoyager — Google review
This was a very unique trip and I’m so glad I went. I’ll make this review simple with pros and cons. Pros: Very unique, there’s not really a sense of direction so you can go climb anywhere (at your own risk), very cheap / free depending on if you’re camping or just hiking / camping; they had restrooms that were easily found, and lastly the views and overall area was just so nice and well kept. Great place for those who want to throw an event, camp, or even just climb! Cons: Figuring out where to go or park was very confusing, the place is very popular so camping spots are kind of hard to get, the one section is all dirt road and not meant for sedans or low to the ground cars, there wasn’t really any markers or trails so getting lost is quite common, lastly it genuinely is dangerous so please be careful when climbing (I myself fell but I’m okay) Overall: 3.95/5.00, would recommend!

The campus features attractions such as the University of Wyoming Art Museum, which showcases rotating exhibits and a permanent collection dating back to the 15th century.

Worst parking known to man. As a student you will basically never get a spot and don’t even worry about paying for a parking pass because it is so expensive and you will not be guaranteed a spot. Otherwise a great school but the parking situation has been a problem for years and has not been addressed whatsoever. It is only getting worse with the new dorms in place.

VETERANS BEWARE!! THIS SCHOOL DOES NOT CARE IF YOUVE SERVED AND WILL NOT HELP YOU! I am a veteran and decided to use my GI Bill during the COVID lock down to pursue an education in engineering at UW. I spoke with multiple faculty members before classes started letting them know that this was my first stint at an actual university. I was excited but also ignorant and I made sure to let them know so I didn't let anything slip through the cracks. I'd lived in Wyoming for the past 3+ years as a govt contractor and had proof through taxes and lease agreements. They charged me as a non-resident and never informed me. I worked extremely hard and passed all of my classes! Over the years I've jumped through hopes with the VA and their billing department to no avail. Nobody will help me and now I'm almost $7000 in debt for schooling (and thats for only 1 semester!!!) I had already paid for with my time in service and my own money while in the service. This school could care less about it's veterans or the free money they get for us choosing their school. I'd give 0 stars if I could.

My alma mater, and I have a lot of love for UW. I have competed my bachelor's and master's from UW, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Laramie is a great town to go to school in that it small enough to feel like a community, has great food and provides other opportunities that create a memorable experience. The campus here is beautiful as well, and during my masters I occasionally served as a guide during our seminar meetings (online masters) to people that had never been to Laramie, and they were always impressed with the campus. I could go on and on about UW and Laramie, but just know I love UW, it's faculty, facilities, opportunities, and the memories you make! Consider it if you are looking to enroll! Ask me questions if you would like to hear from an Alumni!
Nathan — Google review
I strongly discourage anyone from attending this school. The service that you get when enrolling leaves a great deal to be desired. This could be because they have a monopoly in WY. After expressly stating the classes I needed to take my Advisor planned a path with none of the classes I needed. Their reason was most people just want to graduate. The advisor and financial aid office was aware I was still finishing my Associates before the term started. Then the financial aid office refused to release my financial aid till I gave them proof of my Associates. I requested to have all of my classes dropped and be removed from school because it was turning into a circus and the registrars office said they did that. I found out weeks later that not only had they not withdrawn me from the classes but they instead decided to finally process the financial aid 3 months too late. If you want drama, a circus, confusion, terrible service, or financial issues this is the school for you. If you don't then go else where.

Such a neat little museum for being free! The Apatosaurus (use to be brontosaurus for us kids from the 70's) was huge! The quality of some of their fossils was amazing! And we loved the rock cave with all the rocks that glowed under the black light!

I chanced upon this Museum accidentally and boy was I am amazed at what we found. the University of Wyoming does an excellent job of presenting their archaeological finds as well as history of the area around Wyoming. We were very lucky to meet one of the paleontologists who works in the field around Wyoming and was recently involved with discovering fossils during a pipeline dig. We learned so much in such a short time. The museum is a smaller museum with two levels that you will at least spend an hour and a half to two hours walking around looking at and reading all the information. There fossil skeleton collection and displays Rivals some larger museums. People of all ages will appreciate a visit here. It is a free museum and offers sitting areas with story books and video presentations as well as the normal Museum amenities. If you find yourself even near this area plan a visit.

The Laramie Plains Museum is housed in the Historic Ivinson Mansion and showcases a wide range of artifacts that provide insight into the local history of the area. The museum provides an enjoyable and informative experience for visitors, with knowledgeable docents providing information on topics such as the Ivinson family, antiques, and the former girls school that occupied the building. The outdoor area is also beautiful and has been used for events such as marriage vow renewals.
we read about their $2 “Halloween” self guided tour and we are so glad we came to check it out! it was delightful getting to walk around this amazing house! we spent almost an hour and a half looking through each room. the sweet student, Bridget, answered our questions and gave us lots of great information. i believe they normally just do guided tours, but this was a special treat! if you’ve ever been to the Biltmore Estate in NC, this is significantly smaller, but of similar interest!

Today’s visit to the Laramie Plains Museum, also known as the Ivinson Mansion, was hands-down a most memorable and delightful experience! This beautifully preserved Victorian home is a true treasure, full of rich history and absolutely gorgeous period furnishings. Every room is like a perfectly curated time capsule—warm, elegant, and brimming with character. But what made the tour truly exceptional was our phenomenal guide, Bailey. Although still considered a “junior docent” Bailey was beyond impressive—confident, knowledgeable, and incredibly well-spoken. She guided us through the mansion with ease and enthusiasm, a great sense of humor, sharing historical insights, fascinating stories, and small details that brought the home and its former inhabitants vividly to life. Her passion for history was awesome! From the intricate woodwork and ornate décor to the personal artifacts and clothing displays, every part of the Ivinson Mansion felt alive with stories of the past. It’s clear that the museum is lovingly cared for by people who truly value its legacy—and Bailey is a shining example of that dedication. Whether you’re a history buff or simply curious, this museum is an absolute must-see. We left feeling inspired, informed, and truly grateful for the experience. Thank you, Bailey, for an unforgettable tour! You are a star in the making. Do yourself a favor—visit the Laramie Plains Museum. You won’t regret it.

The Laramie Plains Museum is such a charming and historic location to photograph! The architecture and vintage details throughout the building make it a beautiful setting for portraits or wedding photos. Every room has its own character, and the surrounding grounds add a timeless, classic touch. The staff was kind and accommodating, making the experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. A perfect spot for anyone who loves a mix of history and elegance in their photos!

This was an amazing place to visit and learn. I homeschool my boys, and we are driving home from Alabama to Nevada . We are visiting historic areas, and this is a must-see. What an eye opener and just wholesome history. We had a great time. The staff was amazing, very informative, and answered all our questions. If you ever find yourself here, take an hr to tour this bit of history. 😁

I am going to be honest, I am conflicted on this one. The Iverson house was incredible. It is so well-preserved that it genuinely looks like they lived there yesterday. Not a spec of dust or signs of damage. Even the props/artifacts were in pristine condition for being well over 100 years old. However, most of my complaints will fall on the tour guide. He was definitely on the shy side, and that's fine not everyone can be an exceptional public speaker. But this shyness also bled into his inability to recall sufficient information for a guided tour that you have to pay money for. The tour also really fell off the rails at the end there, and really just became a "go do what you want" thing. I don't want to nitpick on this detail too much, but a tour guide wearing gym shorts does not strike me as being very professional at all, and can come across as immersion-breaking. I'm not expecting business formal in a suit and tie, especially in the Summer heat, but I do think that some jeans, cargo shorts, or something would be a touch more appropriate. Overall the house was excellent, but the tour does need some deep improvement.
Ethan A — Google review
I've been here twice now. Excellent both times! Docents each time were quite different from each other, but both very knowledgeable and able to give many fascinating details on the background of pieces in the house. I would definitely go back a third time!
Adam L — Google review
We took a self-guided walking tour of Downtown Laramie and came across the Plains Museum in the Invinson Mansion. For a small fee we toured the three-storied historical home of one of the wealthiest families of Laramie in it's early years. Our guide led us through the home, telling the story of the home's family, servants and events. If you want to immerse yourself in the rich history of Laramie during the Territorial days to Wyoming's early Statehood, I would highly recommend this museum.

The Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site in Laramie is a captivating destination for history enthusiasts and families alike. This restored 1872 prison once held the infamous outlaw Butch Cassidy for 18 months, offering visitors a glimpse into its intriguing past through self-guided and guided tours.
An excellent slice of history has been preserved and renovated to showcase its authenticity. Being presented a "prisoner" at admission added an element of curiosity to the process. The museum has a lot of great information and throughout our 3000 mile trip, we kept learning more about Butch Cassidy but this was the most information in one place (we decided he was an intelligent & charismatic man who was never going to settle down - much to his parents' despair). The broom factory was excellent as the guide provided a great deal of information in addition to a brief demonstration for our questions. Really enjoyed the whole thing and it left a remarkable impression of Wyoming.
Emm D — Google review
Very interesting people have stayed here. The renovations are amazing. They still make brooms. We spent about two hours but had to leave as they were closing.
Melissa G — Google review
Very interesting history. Even better if you enjoy visiting prisons of the past n how they were run. The first with a women's wing (2 cells only, n they never left it). It could appear that the guards were also "prisoners" while working. Butch Cassidy has his own exhibit inside. There's a broom making Factory out back, that still handmakes n sells the brooms. When the prison closed it was turned into a farm. It bk is a tropics town. Definately worth visiting. A thorough visit can take 3-4 hrs.
Karen T — Google review
Stayed overnight waiting to see it. We didn't think it was worth it. The "tour guide" said, let me know if you have any questions. The lady working in the broom making didn't even acknowledge us. It was just ok. Cool to say we went. But not sure I would have stayed overnight to see it.

Hubby & I visited this place and took the guided tour. Our guide was very good and told stories of several inmates that were incarcerated there. One of the most famous was Butch Cassidy. Recommend visiting if in the Laramie area.
K. W — Google review
Explored the Wyoming Territorial Prison, once home to the famous outlaw Butch Cassidy. From the old cells to the barns, wagons, and mill work, it was fascinating to see how prisoners lived—creating brooms, building furniture, and caring for animals. A true step back into the Wild West

The bridge was great even with my fear of heights and water! Alot of fish in there and it has a trail you can walk a great place for kids to go and check out. Very scenic and just a wonderful place to be with nature and regroup. A definite must for any nature enthusiasts.

Don't forget to stop by this place when visiting Fort Laramie. Not much to see but a piece of history.

It fascinates me and my dog every time we walk over it. I love taking my time and visualizing it's entire past, as well with the river. In any season, I adore this place. The park below is very well maintained, clean, quiet and serene.
Travis W — Google review
A neat site near Fort Laramie. This site is about 2 miles from Fort Laramie. It is right off the road on you way to and from the fort. There is a small pullout with room for about 6 vehicles. It had and information board telling about the bridge. When we went there the leaves were yellow and it was a cool day out so it was very pretty. This is an iron bridge with wooden planking. You can walk out of the bridge and enjoy the sights and sounds from the middle of it. There is a 1.6 mile trail that leaves from the pullout. Worth the stop if you are going to Fort Laramie.

Another cool, yet small, bridge that is an important part of American history.

Super cool to see the 1876 built Army Iron Bridge at Fort Laramie National Historic Site! It's also the trail head for the Confluence Trail, a 1.6 mile loop by the North Platte and Laramie Rivers

Fort Laramie National Historic Site

Mentioned on
1 list
Historical place
Sights & Landmarks
Fort Laramie National Historic Site is a significant Wyoming landmark that boasts excellently preserved original buildings. Visitors can enjoy audio tours of the military post as well as outdoor activities, such as walking down the Oregon Trail and viewing old wagon ruts. The site also features a visitor center where guests can learn about life for infantry men during their five-year stay at the fort. Overall, Fort Laramie National Historic Site is an exceptional historic destination for anyone interested in learning about history and westward migration.
It was a lovely day even though it was 100 degrees outside. There are a lot of historical buildings to see, pristine black powder cannons, a couple of muzzle loaders, a military covered wagon, and a couple of men wearing army uniforms from the period of time when the Fort was filled with soldiers in the 1800’s. There are bathroom facilities available, and you have to drive past what’s left of Fort Platte on your way to Fort Laramie. This would be a great family trip, or an interesting historical stop for people driving through the area on their vacation, who want to learn more about America’s rich history.
Susie — Google review
Really interesting place. Such important history happened here. Definitely felt like hollowed ground walking around. Very good signage describing what you are looking at. Additionally, the 19 minute video at the visitor center is very informative.
Andrew B — Google review
I visited Fort Laramie National Historic Site during the live event weekend, and it was such a great experience. The reenactments and demonstrations really brought history to life, and the staff and volunteers were very knowledgeable. It’s a beautiful place to explore and learn more about the people who lived and traveled through here. Definitely worth the visit!
Jamie S — Google review
A wonderful way to spend a day Viewing a historic place. Immersed in history, some of the buildings have been recreated as they once were, you are welcome to walk the grounds and view the buildings, there are also many books about the area. The native people's and the pioneers, as well as a short film, that's very informative.
EG R — Google review
Great site for adults and kids. Good little visitor center with a 18 minute video in theatre. Barracks, post office, jail, and officer houses were cool to see as they are setup with original articles and are very viewable. Barracks was great with sarsaparilla, root beer, and cream soda available. Be sure to get there by noon for the daily canon firing and informative introduction by park ranger.
Stephen S — Google review
It's a gem! Kinda hidden away but it's definitely a place worth visiting if you enjoy history. Tons of artifacts and things to look at. There is some walking so dress accordingly. There isn't much shade from the summer sun so if bring an umbrella for comfort.
Shayla S — Google review
Well preserved historic fort where important events in American history occurred. The fort began as a trading post in the 1830s. It was purchased by the U.S. army in 1849 to protect the emigrants traveling to Oregon and California. It is a few miles off of highway 26. I had a little trouble finding the fort as Google maps first had me stop at the iron bridge, saying that was the fort, and it took awhile to figure out that it was much further down the road. It is an excellent site to learn about the U.S. army and Native Americans in the area in the mid-19th century. A nice walking trail loops around the historic buildings. You can go inside most of the buildings and rooms have glass barriers, so you can see the furnished rooms inside. I also liked the displays and photos on the eventual deterioration of the buildings when the fort closed in the 1890s and subsequent excavations and renovations. I highly recommend visiting the fort if old buildings and American history interest you.
Maura — Google review
Very cool place. Nicely taken cared of. Several buildings and landmarks to look at. Visitor center is nice as well with a cool and very interesting video to watch that takes about 18 minutes. Stamps and stickers available to buy and collect

Ruts almost 7 feet deep! Plus lots of information on easy to read plaques. It is a paved path up above the parking lot, but barely a five minute walk but might be steep for some. Additional paths as well. To walk through these is amazing.

This is a wonderful, quick stop to add to your trip. You get to see a couple different areas where the wagons eroded away the rock. There is a short loop to walk with information about the Oregon trail and the people who used it.

We didn’t get to explore as much as we wanted to since a bear was sleeping under a tree. Otherwise the experience was neat to see and an opportunity for the kids to see history
Jamie S — Google review
Wonderful history of the way west. Amazing that wagon wheels cut these grooves in the stone.
Barry K — Google review
This is a legendery site on the Oregon Trail and it was fun to see how the wagons, traveling single file, made deep ruts into the rock as they attempted to cross the ridge. I had a little trouble finding the site, but that may be my fault. Google maps directed me to the turnoff for the Oregon Trail Ruts Historic sites. Similar to Windlass Hill in Nebraska, I pulled into the parking lot near the sign which said "Oregon Trail Ruts State Historic site" and took a very long walk (1/2 mile round trip) on a concrete path with benches and waste cans, it appeared to be a well maintained walking trail. I kept thinking I was going to see the ruts at any moment. When I finally reached a dirt road and no ruts (although a nice historic Oregon trail grave was nearby), I walked back to my car. I could see then that the sign pointed down a narrow gravel road to the historic site not to the parking lot. I drove down the gravel road 1/4 mile, turned left on a bigger dirt road and turned left again into the historic ruts site parking lot. It is a bit of a climb to the ruts, but well worth it. I am including a photo of the walking trail from the first small parking lot. It will eventually take you to the historic ruts (turn left at the road and turn left again into a larger parking lot), if you want a very long walk, but driving your car to the site will be easier.

Scenic park, featuring remnants of the Oregon Trail, offering hiking through sandstone cliffs.
If you love hiking in tranquility and want to feel like you’re the only person around I highly suggest coming here in the winter! So many little trails throughout the park and without the summer activities it’s very peaceful. I’ve spotted 2 eagles a couple times flying around the canyon side of the park! Lots of other wildlife too. Best of all no bugs. It’s beautiful when the park has a dusting of snow but it doesn’t stay for long.
Josue V — Google review
What an awesome park, made even better by the super friendly staff and rangers. Absolutely recommend a stop. The reservoir, the trails, the cliffs, it makes for a great experience.

Beautiful spot with great views and a peaceful vibe! We really enjoyed our time at Guernsey State Park! The scenery was stunning, and the lake added that perfect touch of calm and beauty, especially at sunset, which was absolutely gorgeous. The campground was clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed. It’s Wyoming, so yes, a bit of wind comes with the territory, but it didn’t take away from the experience. A great place to unwind, explore, and soak up some seriously pretty views.
Ken H — Google review
Absolutely worth visiting. There is no lack of stunning views here. My favorite place inside of the park is the castle It is a must see if you're visiting the park. There is plenty of access to the water and several relaxing coves along the way. Bring your sunscreen and soak in some sun.
Shayla S — Google review
This place was absolutely stunning and by far the best area I’ve ever seen for boats, campers, and jet skis. For just $7 you get a day pass at paradise and I truly enjoyed it. For those who just hike and don’t do water activities, this is still a great place with breath taking views. Just be warned, you should definitely get a map and be prepared for less hiking and more just views on cliffs. On my first trail right by the museum (which is okay) I was attacked by 50+ of this one bug that I don’t know the species of. Whenever you walk down the path they fly and hit you from both sides of the path all the way down. Very annoying even with bug spray on! Here are my top picks to go if you’re just looking for trails and views: North bluff trail,The castle, and directly below the water dam is an amazing view and even spot for fishing. It looks restricted, but it’s really not. Lastly, I recommend just driving through the whole area while being very careful of the narrow roads. Below are pictures of all 3 and I recommend this place for sure!

We were on a road trip to watch UVU vs. Wyoming wrestling match and decided to stop and visit the Wyoming Pioneer Memorial Museum in Douglas. What a hidden gem of a place to learn some of the interesting and often infamous history of Wyoming!! I especially LOVED seeing the antique veterinary tools (my husband is a vet), the switchboard, and reminisced about my college days at California Lutheran University, where I worked as a switchboard operator from 1970-1974. The BEST part is that admission is FREE!! Thank you, Wyoming Pioneer Memorial Museum!

This is a wonderful history museum. There is a lot more that just pioneer day stuff. One could easly spend three hours looking over everything. The staff was very friendly and they had a scavenger hunt for the kids. No charge but donations are welcome and certainly warranted!

This museum is very complete. They have items all the way from the 1800s and you learn good history of the expansion of the western frontier and specifics about the Douglas area. The museum is free which makes it even better. The lady at the front desk was very polite and welcoming.

What an amazing Museum !!! We finally made it to this incredible museum after trying for 4 years to visit the museum ( they are only open for part of the year and they are only open certain times of the week/weekend! we just kept missing when it was open ) but we made it!!! The museum is small but what they house inside is better than a lot of the larger museums. You will be greeted by some lovely ladies that volunteer here, they are all so kind and welcome you with big smiles. The entrance fee was so cheap and you get more than your moneys worth. We met Don (the incredible paleontologist and tour guide) he was just so enthusiastic, kind, funny and friendly, the passion he had for the collection was out of this world. He took us on a Fossil journey that was so entertaining and educational that you just wanted to learn more. Don was one of the main people that found and prepped these incredible finds, you could imagine him knee high in mud and rocks digging up these rare fossils. Don showed us around and answered all our questions, he made this visit such a treat. My daughter got to pick a small fossil from the prep room and a small plastic Dino . This was so special and really made her day. Thank you 😊 The information and the collection was very interesting and seeing some rare fossils and learning about them was incredible. They have a nice little gift shop with some fun finds. Highly recommend if you are lucky enough to find this museum to definitely come check it out. Worth the money and just a rare find. Thank you to Don and the lovely ladies that make this small museum a huge treasure. Parking is pretty easy to find.

We stopped in here on our way back to MT. It's far from the largest dinosaur museum we've been to, but was by far the best. The enthusiasm they have, the knowledge about every piece, and the way they treated our family has made it by far the best one I've ever been to and I've been to a lot. I greatly recommend it.

I went here with my mom and sister coming back from a road trip, and it did not dissapoint!!! I loved how it was a tour, and the guy showing us around was making sure it was very interactive for the kids and adults and was having us answer questions. It was a 10/10 experience in my opinion, and kids got to pick small bits of fossil to take home for free! Also very affordable and was just great all together, and you got to touch and hold some things! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Visited here while passing through on a road trip. I’m so glad we stopped! This museum was so charming and cool to see. Everyone was super friendly. My mom and I were given a personal tour of each exhibit with detailed explanations of all the fossils. We were even shown a room where volunteers work on cleaning and putting fossils back together that are dug up locally. It really was an amazing experience so if you get the chance to visit I highly recommend doing so!
