Beach
Nature & Parks
Tunnels Beach, also known as Makua Beach, is a low-key sandy beach located in Haena on the north shore of the island. It is renowned for its picturesque tropical vegetation and shallow reefs that make it an ideal spot for snorkeling, especially for beginners. The beach offers a vast, curving stretch of coastline with a backdrop of rugged mountain tops and dense jungle, making it one of the most popular coastal locations on the island.
Great beach overall. Here’s a quick breakdown for visitors. 1. Parking: there are 2 short driveways and a main parking area just down the road at Ha ‘ena Park. Be careful and look at all signs near the driveways and parking lot. Several cars that did not head the signs were ticketed. If you go to the parking lot, wait your turn by the fruit stand right at the beginning of the lot. It’s helpful to have a passenger get out and walk down the parking lot to identify an open spot. People do come and go, so if you are patient, you will find a spot. 2. Beach access: it is a long walk on the beach from the parking lot to the main snorkeling area of Tunnels Beach. Plan accordingly 3. Shade/Umbrellas: There are many shady areas along the beach with a nice breeze. 4. Snorkeling: plenty of nice areas to snorkel. I loved the drop off and swimming along this transition and seeing all the little fish. 5. Restrooms are near the parking lot at Ha ‘ena Park.

This beach is STUNNING. It’s the prettiest beach we went to on Kauai. The views are gorgeous, the sand is nice, and the snorkeling was incredible. We saw SO many fish of different varieties and sizes!
Denya P — Google review
This is really good place for snorkeling but had a lot of rock. Quite depth beach but you can see a lot of fishes and corals. Very clean.
Nguyen H — Google review
Awesome beach. Fantastic snorkeling. Nice shade trees along the beach. Tunnels parking is very limited. We parked at Haena Beach which is only a short walk to Tunnels along the beach. Haena has bathrooms, outdoor showers, and more parking. You still need to get there early, before 8 am to get a parking spot. Wet cave nearby is also very cool.
Gary F — Google review
This is a MUST DO in Kauai! We had absolutely no idea this beach was tucked back here. There is a beautiful reef on the shore you can snorkel around in. We saw dozens of species of tropical fish and even a sea turtle and eels! The sand was soft, the water was warm, and the scenery was gorgeous. If you only have time for one beach in Kauai, make it this one. You will not regret it. This was an unforgettable experience and I wish we had discovered this beach earlier in our trip. Bring snorkel gear, trust me, you will want it.
Cassidy — Google review
Really pretty! Small waves, saw turtles. Caution: the reef was very high (close to the water surface) to swim out over, be careful not to cut yourself
Lauren S — Google review
My favorite beach with stunning sunset. Also saw a sleeping seal here and double rainbow

Queen's Bath is a natural tidal pool located on the north shore of Kauai, offering a unique and picturesque experience. The pool is filled with water from a stunning 15-foot waterfall and surrounded by black lava, providing breathtaking views of Bali Hai. Accessible via the Queens Bath Trail, this spot is perfect for hikers looking to explore waterfalls in Kauai.
This is a nice pool in the rocks that you can swim in. The water is calm and warm in the summertime, but winter swells can easily suck you out. There are also fish in this pool, and access is by a rope trail that passes by a few waterfalls and is kind of steep.
LC 4 — Google review
Totally worth the short hike ( 0.8 Mile Round Trip ) to enjoy the scenery and crystal clear queens bath. Parking is tight so you might want to get there between 7 and 7:30 am to make sure you don’t have to wait for a spot. Water flows in from the sea into the bath/pool. A few spots to jump into the pool. We were told it gets scary and not safe for kids but second pool felt very safe. I could see it being the case if you swim in the first spot with the waterfall as it is open to the sea.
Dipen P — Google review
Queen’s Bath is one of Kauai’s most fascinating and picturesque natural spots — a lava rock tide pool with crystal-clear water and incredible ocean views. The short trail down (about 0.8 miles round trip) can be muddy and slippery, especially after rain, so wear good shoes and take your time. The setting is stunning, but conditions can be very dangerous during high surf or winter months — waves can crash unexpectedly over the rocks. Always check the surf report before going and avoid entering the water when seas are rough. On calm days, it’s absolutely beautiful — a peaceful spot to sit, watch the waves, and enjoy one of Kauai’s most unique coastal landscapes. 🌊🌴☀️
Megha A — Google review
Only for the brave. People have lost their lives here, so take this one seriously. The hike in is no joke — steep, muddy, and not for beginners. If it’s raining or you’re not experienced hiking on this island, wait for a dry day. Always check the tides — the water here moves fast, and those pools can fill up in seconds. But when it’s calm and the weather’s perfect, it’s pure magic — one of the most breathtaking experiences you’ll ever have. The hike in and out is intense but so worth it. Pro tip: Teva sandals are a must on the island — perfect grip, quick-drying, and they’ll get you through even the muddiest trails. 🌿🌊
Anya A — Google review
There is a lot of differing information online about this place. First, the trail down to the bath takes about 10 minutes. I saw some places say a much as 25 minutes. I have a bad knee and I am not a hiker of any sort. Second, the area is not closed, or at least it wasn't in August of 2025. It is a stunningly beautiful area and WELL worth the drive from anywhere on the island. It's about an hour from Koloa and Poipu Beach, and 5-7 minutes from Halanei Bay and Pier. We did so much on the island and saw all the major spots. Because of concerns about crowds and parking, we almost didn't go to the North Shore. I'm so glad we did. Hanalei Bay and Queen's Bath were the highlights of the island for us.
Joshua M — Google review
must visit if you’re in Kauai. we parked in the neighborhood and it can be quite a wait for parking as there’s only a few spots. but it’s very worth it. it’s a small hike down, maybe 15 or so minutes. be prepared to get muddy if it’s rained recently and watch your footing. the views are incredible though and anytime we have visitors we take them there
Anna A — Google review
Get there early! There are a total of 12 parking spots. We got there at 7:30 am and there were 2 spots left. It is a short hike to Queens bath but it is uneven ground so make sure you are able to hike. Go during low tide so you can swim in the bath. There were a ton of turtles in the ocean. This really is a must see.
Jacque — Google review
One of the highlights of Kauai! There is a small parking lot and it’s worth waiting for a parking spot. The hike takes 10-15 minutes, you see two small waterfalls, and then you get gorgeous views of the ocean and lava rocks. The water creates these pools that you can swim in. Some of them are big and some are small. We even saw some teens jumping off the cliffs and into the deeper pools. Absolutely incredible and would highly recommend!!!

Pali Ke Kua Beach

Outdoor Activities
Pali Ke Kua Beach, also known as Hideaways Beach, is a picturesque cove nestled beneath the Princeville cliffs on Kauai's North Shore. It features a crescent-shaped sandy shore with stunning turquoise waters and frequent turtle sightings. The beach offers deep reefs for snorkeling, making it an ideal spot for underwater exploration. Accessing the beach involves a bit of a hike but is worth it for the breathtaking views and serene atmosphere.
Awesome concrete path to the beach-not nearly as treacherous as the other way down to Hideaway.
Karen D — Google review
This is a neat little spot at the base of the Princeville cliffs, accessible through a path at Pali Ke Kua condos, or by a short swim from neighboring Hideaway beach. Generally private, with few or no other people there. Steep paved trail with several hundred feet of descent, the last bit of which is dirt until you hit the beach. Fairly narrow beach, with a lot of rocks at the east end, and overhanging trees create a pretty shaded and secluded feel. Decent snorkeling, depending on surf level and water cloudiness. Seems somewhat sheltered by reef, but not nearly as calm as Anini beach just up the road. There are two BBQ grills on a bluff just before you get to the beach if you want to grab some coals and roast burgers or freshly caught fish. There are better beaches on the island for snorkeling, and better beaches for sunbathing or letting the kids play in the surf. This beach feels more like a place to meditate and think, in a positive state of mind, immersed in the beauty that is Kauai.
Brendan H — Google review
(Translated by Google) An absolutely steep descent for extreme lovers. Non-slippery, comfortable shoes are a must. The nature is very beautiful and the ocean shore is strewn with boulders made of lava rocks. After overcoming all the obstacles, a small, unequipped beach awaits you below. Anini Beach, located on the northern shore of Kauai, is a laid-back spot known for its clear and calm waters, making it perfect for activities like swimming, snorkeling, and windsurfing. The beach is protected by a two-mile-long fringing reef that offers ideal conditions for various water-related activities. Whether you're into adventurous pursuits like snorkeling and diving or prefer a relaxed swim and beachcombing, Anini Beach has something for everyone.
Anini Beach is a great place for snorkeling and hanging out. The water is crystal clear and there are so many turtles, and humus and other colorful fish. In the morning, it's calm and really well-suited for novice snorkelers. There are lots of trees so you can sit in the shade if you want to avoid some of the intense sun. There are bathrooms, picnic tables, covered seating places to rinse off, and chill. Patk near the first bathroom if you can, and enter the water near the boat launch and you'll have a great snorkeling experience. There are locals and tourists here, but it's not too crowded in the morning. I highly recommend it. It's also free!
Katherine — Google review
Very quiet and calm waters due to the reef a ways out. Swim with the turtles here. Tropical fish are out near the reef. Easy snorkeling.
Dave W — Google review
This beach was amazing! Some areas are a bit rocky, but the sandy areas are wonderful. There’s plenty of sun and also shade. It’s also a great spot for snorkeling since the reef provides a barrier and great spot to bring little ones.
Lauren F — Google review
What a beautiful beach. Great for snorkeling and the water is much warmer than other beaches. There is lava rocks and the waves don't come all the way to the beach making it very calm. There were a lot of pullout for easy beach access then the main beach access with so much accessible beach and plenty of free parking. Easy to park and walk right to the beach.
Connie P — Google review
This is a great destination offering a beautiful long beach with shallow waters, a campground, and a large park. We noticed many tents set up in the campground. The park itself is spacious and well-equipped with restrooms and showers. The sand is wonderfully soft, and if you enjoy collecting them, you can find plenty of seashells. As an added bonus, you can also see the lighthouse from here.
Shahbaz S — Google review
Took my child here to start to learn to snorkel. Calm waters that started to pick up mid day. Reef is large and though we stayed near the beach, saw turtles, crab, fish. Shade is plenty!
Valerie M — Google review
Beautiful beach with great shower access! Snorkeling was also beautiful and saw over ten turtles, crabs, and a good deal of fish. Would be a somewhat intermediate snorkeler because there’s a lot of reefs that can be easily destroyed and substantial turtle life that can be hurt if not surrounded carefully!
Shruti G — Google review
Came to the beach to lay out and some light snorkeling. Good amount of parking by the campgrounds/park area. The beach in this part felt more like a narrow strip of beach but there was still enough space to lay out. We went around 3:30pm and there were lots of of shaded areas from the trees, we didn’t even need the umbrella we rented. It got shadier while we were there and by 5pm majority of the beach was shaded and only some small slivers of sun left. The sand is rocky in a lot of places and was a bit painful to walk along some parts of the shore. Tried to snorkel but didn’t see any fish. However, was fully committed to snorkeling as I had no fins so maybe if I was able to swim out further I might have seen more. From what I can tell, only a handful of people were snorkeling anyhow. Highlight was the pasture across the beach/park where there were 2 horses grazing. Was able to walk right up to them as they were hanging around the fence.

The refuge is home to the iconic 1913 Kilauea Lighthouse, which provides breathtaking views of the coastline from its top observation deck. It was a shame they had the lighthouse closed for maintenance. But the views from the parking lot were amazing! I got some nice images there.
Richie C — Google review
Absolutely beautiful views, so many different types of birds! They had ample signage and information about the different kinds of birds. The only thing that would have made it better is if the lighthouse had been open to visitors. Not too pricey, money well spent, wonderful way to enjoy the wildlife.
Emily D — Google review
Kīlauea Point is one of the most scenic and peaceful spots on Kauai! The views from the lookout are incredible — dramatic cliffs, turquoise ocean, and the historic Kīlauea Lighthouse perched perfectly on the edge. You’ll often spot seabirds like red-footed boobies, frigatebirds, and even nēnē (Hawaiian geese), and during winter months, you might catch glimpses of humpback whales offshore. 🐋🌊 The refuge is well maintained, with helpful rangers and educational displays about local wildlife and conservation. A must-visit for nature lovers and photographers — calm, breathtaking, and uniquely Kauai. 🌺📸🕊️
Megha A — Google review
What a beautiful place to watch all of the sea birds and take in the views. If this were whale watching season, we would have been for hours. Be sure to make reservations in advance. It’s a busy place. But you have time and space to see the lighthouse and take in the views.
Charene R — Google review
Very cool place, worth the $20 ticket. You can't get up into the lighthouse, but it's very cool to see the wildlife and awesome coral views.
Dan K — Google review
As spectacular in real life as in the photos. This is a lovely must-see in Kauai - not just for the birds and the views but also to support our National Parks! An annual pass works here - no fee, no reservation.

Hanalei Valley Lookout is a popular spot in Kauai's north shore, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the valley, Hanalei River, and lush hillsides. The lookout provides sweeping vistas of the entire landscape, including Hanalei Bay and Namolokama Mountain with its cascading waterfalls. The fertile taro fields and native flora add to the picturesque scene. It's recommended to visit during sunrise or sunset for an even more stunning experience.
Beautiful lookout, we were there for only a couple of minutes with just 3 people before it got crowded. I hate crowds(but the crowd seems to follow us everywhere smh) so we left right away. Parking is small, just right on the side of the road and can be hard to get out once it becomes crowded.

A beautiful bay beach to enjoy the ocean view, with towering trees and stunning mountains in the background. The gentle breeze adds to the natural and relaxing atmosphere. A great spot to stop by and take in the beauty of the island.

Beautiful sandy beach, perfect for catching some waves, walking, and taking family photos. We probably came here most mornings we were on the island because it was so close and always quiet. Never had issues finding parking or a spot to relax.

We did the Hanalei kayak down the river to the bay it was a blast. Got to snorkel a bit and see a honu swimming along the beach and in river.
Stephanie S — Google review
We spent all day here, just drinking it all in! The mountain views, the spacious beach, the beautiful weather. We bought Hawaiian playing cards in Hanalei and used fallen coconuts to hold down our beach blanket while lazily playing travel cribbage.
Walnut S — Google review
The colors are so rich here as if the world spins faster. Monet would go crazy trying to capture his impressionist moment here. Every second you are in a different world. Sunsets are short but imprinting when the local gods invite you for their bliss. If you are in the area, skip a restaurant, café or shopping to see the fleeing rays of the sun swallowed by the ocean at the beach. Pack a picknick basket, swimming suite, and somebody you care to create an everlasting bond at this place. As time passes it is still so vivid as if it were happening now.

The North Shore boasts breathtaking beaches that have been featured in various films, making it a popular destination for Hollywood elites.
It was an unusual paradox to arrive somewhere remote and still hear the constant buzzing of helicopters and boat-motors that you'd encounter in a major metropolis. Camping permits are outdated half measures in reaction to the tourist driven congestion that should signal the need for a broader conversation regarding regulated access legislation. If you can get a permit, arrive by foot, find stillness between engines, and humble yourself in the cathedral; I believe the journey has the power to catalyze meaningful introspection, connection, and change. Spaces like this deserve our protection through thoughtful legislation that balances business driven needs with ecological determinism. The energy here is unique and undeniable.

Hiked the 11 miles all the way back to the beach. Hike was a little difficult but so worth it. The beach at the end was so pretty. We camped for 2 nights there and then hiked out. There is a water pump down there with fresh water.
Trent M — Google review
We took 15 family members on the hike from Ke’e beach on the Kalalua trail, on a four mile in and back trail. This breathtaking trail took us up and down, with 1200 feet of elevation gain. The views were unmatched. The climb was challenging but so rewarding. I wouldn’t recommend small children coming, if they can’t walk it, they can’t come. No kids in carriers are allowed. I brought my walking sticks and it was especially helpful on the steep decent down. We had a few elderly and young toddlers with us who enjoyed staying at the beach while we hiked. ADA accommodations were made for parking close to the beach. 10/10

Amazing view of NaPali Coast: This is an all-in one Nature’s beautiful package of blue water, splashing waves, magnificent and colorful lava rock mountains, beautiful green cliffs and wedges, mysterious caves, dancing and curvaceous falls. It was a great experience.

Difficult trail with steep sections, (slippery sometimes) roots, rocks, and streams. Great overlooks for the first two miles to a beautiful beach. This beach (at the end of the hike) is the most dangerous on Kauai. Continue the hike inland for two more uphill miles to a great waterfall with swimming available. Start the hike at 7am to get back for the last shuttle. Assume about 1 mile per hour even if you're a strong hiker.

Sights & Landmarks
Kalalau Lookout is a popular spot offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Kalalau Valley and the ocean. Located on Kauai's northwest side, it provides a stunning overlook of the saw-toothed ridges of the valley, which sits at the edge of the Na Pali Coast. This remote location allows travelers to admire Kalalau Beach's shorelines without needing a helicopter tour, boat ride, or arduous hike.
Quite the drive as it is on the north side , but views are breathtaking. Parking is limited so plan ahead. Plan on a day that has clear coverage so that the clouds don’t cover your view. Beware of construction which also limits roads to 1 lane. Drive is very similar to Mauna Kea on the big island
Quyen T — Google review
An epic drive that takes you to an even more epic view. Construction on the mountain road takes traffic down to one lane at times. Parking at the lookout is limited. It seemed as if there was a charge to go to the lookout spot from the parking lot (even though it is only 100ft from the lot). This was not enforced afaik. The views are incredible and unmatched. It is picture perfect and looks great with or without the fog.

The dead end Look out on your trip through the Waimea Canyon and kokee State Park scenic driving. To get to the famous Lookout point takes about an hour drive with no Stops. I was really hoping to see this famous overlook of the Na pali coast. However, it was raining and full of fog when I went. I realize halfway up the drive, but I was committed to hopefully see the clouds part and see some Beautiful scenery. Either way it was a really nice drive and I got to see nice fog. Just kidding when I was ready to walk back to my car it started pouring rain thank you to the restroom for giving me shelter. Definitely coming back here again. Just remember to pay for your Parking. $5 For each person plus another five for your car

This beautiful lookout provides a stunning view of the Na Pali Coast from above. It's incredible to see how high up you are, even spotting small tour helicopters far below. The view is truly spectacular. This particular lookout offers picnic tables and restrooms. We visited in early May, and this was the last point accessible by car; the road ahead was closed. You can reach the other lookouts only by hiking.
Shahbaz S — Google review
Amazing views of the Na Pali coastline from this lookout. This is the last parking lot on the way up since the rest of the road was closed. We also visited this place twice in one day since the first time the clouds rolled in and you couldn’t see much but on our second visit the clouds disappeared and the view was beyond description!!

There is Hawaii and everything else. In Hawaii there is Kauai with its famous Na Pali Coast. What Mark Twain wrote at the end of XIX century is what most people experience right here. It is so vivid that I feel I am still there: "its summer seas flashing in the sun; the pulsing of it surfbeat is in my ear; I can see its garland crags, its leaping cascades, its plumy palms drowsing by the shore, its remote summits floating like islands above the cloud wrack; I can feel the woodland solitudes, I can hear the splash of its brooks; in my nostrils still lives the breath of flowers that perished twenty years ago.”
Andre K — Google review
Just because there isn't an attendant doesn't mean you don't have to pay. Please pay for the parking and entrance fees. I think that out of the 10 cars that were there, I was the only one who paid for parking and the two of us in the car.
Andrew U — Google review
Go in the morning before 10 am for best visibility. If you don’t have a good view right away, wait for 15-20 minutes. We did, and the clouds moved and this rainbow appeared!

Park
Kokeʻe State Park is a sprawling 4,345-acre mountainous park located on the west side of Kaua'i. Situated at an elevation of 3,600 feet, it offers panoramic views of the ocean and valleys. The park features a campground, rustic cabins, and 45 miles of hiking trails that wind through native forests and along ridgelines.
Beautiful park. Five major stops. The end is at 4,000 feet, which has a spatuclar view of the cliffs and ocean below. No cellphone service - download Mads before arriving.
Jeff M — Google review
Kōkeʻe State Park is a paradise for hikers, photographers, and anyone looking to experience Kauaʻi’s raw, untamed beauty. The views alone make the trip worthwhile, but the combination of serene forests, challenging trails, and diverse wildlife ensures that every visitor leaves with a deep appreciation for this special place. Just be prepared for changing weather conditions, and bring plenty of water and layers for cooler temperatures.
Badger ( — Google review
Nice views, especially from the lookout at the end. If you go around the fence on the left side you can go to another nice trail with even better views (stick to the right when you run into another fence, there'll be a small door).
Matthijs — Google review
Beautiful views. I was there during off season, so not crowded. It was great to be above the clouds.

A very nice and scenic park. The nature is incredible. Can be combined with a visit of the famous Waimea Canyon.
Walter R — Google review
This place was pretty awesome! It did take some time to get up there but the views were great and the atmosphere was wonderful. The only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is I got motion sickness on the way up and I was pretty miserable the whole time. My wife had a great time and loved it!
Dustin P — Google review
Long journey up a mountain, but it is worth every single second!! Great family day!! I do hope they use the tourist money for park access to get some of the potholes fixed soon. With no service at the top, you really hope your car doesn’t blow a tire on some of those. They are deep and large!
Emi M — Google review
This place is beyond beautiful! If you make it to the island of Kauai you have to visit this place! There are quite a few lookout points to see, but it is possible to see them all in one day. There is a site for picnics and there are cabins as well. The museum is small, but definitely worth seeing. There are some really nice hiking trails also, but be careful if it rains, as they can become very slippery. Some of the lookouts have a price you have to pay to enter. They are $10 per car, and $5 per person. Absolutely worth it.

Sleeping Giant: Nounou East Trailhead

Mentioned on

Hiking area
Outdoor Activities
Sleeping Giant: Nounou East Trailhead is a popular 2-mile hiking trail in Kapaa, known for its panoramic views and sheltered picnic table. The moderately difficult trail is a local favorite and offers stunning pine forests, rocky outcrops, and occasional glimpses of the coast. The summit provides one of the best sunrise views on clear mornings. There are two well-marked trailheads that meet up about 1/4 mile from the peak, offering different experiences.
We did the Nounou East Trail to hike up to the top of the Sleeping Giant on Kauai. We had a bit of a late start, beginning around 9:30am, & the small parking lot was full, so we had to park a few streets away. From the base, your goal can be seen, as the impressive cliff is directly above you, & you get glimpses of it as you climb closer & closer. The hike itself is a very gradual incline, zig-zagging up the side of the mountain. Close to the top, the East trail merged with the West trail before reaching a picnic area at the top of the giant's "chest". There are some beautiful views there, but if you continue for about 10 more minutes, & you don't mind a bit of easy rock climbing, you can reach the giant's "head" where panoramic vistas reward your climb! The trail conditions were quite muddy, with some slippery areas. We found our hiking poles were very helpful for our descent, saving us from some slips & falls, & decent footwear with good treads is recommended, though we saw many doing the hike in sandals. Overall, it's a fairly easy climb with gorgeous views!
Diana S — Google review
It is an incredible hike with lots of great scenic views. You are walking inside a rain forest the hole time. It took us most of the day to finish the hike. Even though it's not too difficult, the mud definitely made the journey difficult for us. At the end of the trail I was covered with mud. I almost fell couple of times and my husband fell once. But we didn't give up and made it to the top. There were incredible birds and bird sounds on our trail. We often stopped and listened to them. But beware: birds and mosquitoes are working together because everytime we stopped i had additional a few bites- even with the bug spray. So definitely apply bug spray before and during the hike. Also some places were a little too intense, we literally did some bouldering in some places.
Melodi B — Google review
One of the best hikes I've ever gone on, seriously. Loved the strawberry guava berries (the pink berries) you can eat along the trail, the round protruding roots everywhere, the Causarina trees with their drooping branchlets, the free-range wild chickens, the reddish dirt, the large monarch ferns showing their seed patterns, the expansive views of the valley with the water in the background. All around 5 star hike and completely worth it. We turned around at the shelter -- 3 miles was enough. Recommend that you hike early as it gets muggy/warm later in the day. Note: The East trailhead is steeper with more zigzags. The West trail (which we didn't take) is more suitable for families and is less steep with fewer zigzags. If you have kids or aren't the most agile/fit, take the West trail. BTW, Google Maps said this trail didn't open until 7am, but there was nothing restricting entry before then, nor did I see any signs indicating that opening time. I'd say, start at 6:30 am.
Tom J — Google review
The East trail is easy. All the way to the top is the only place you have to climb over any rocks and that's if you want to get all the way up to the summit but even the little climb is very simple. Almost everybody including children are going to be able to do it easy. The giant trees are on the west side, not the east side.
MrRyan — Google review
Awesome views at the top after a moderate hike. Go early, it gets pretty warm the first half of the hike. Highly recommend
Craig S — Google review
Pretty straightforward hike consisting primarily of switchbacks and some climbing. It wasn't muddy at all when we went, but it did get mistier later in the morning.
Elaine — Google review
This was the best hike! Gorgeous views! It was difficult at times but fun rock climbing a little bit!

'Opaeka'a Falls is one of the 11 stunning waterfalls on Kauai, offering a picturesque sight as it cascades over 150 feet into a secluded pool below. Accessible via an easy 2-mile drive from Wailua, visitors can enjoy the falls from a convenient viewing area with picnic tables and restrooms. For those seeking adventure, there's a nearby trailhead to explore.
Beautiful easy access falls, can see from the parking lot on the ridge, a bit far away. I believe can hike closer. There is also a beautiful view of the valley and river directly across the street.
Arlene L — Google review
As others have stated, quick and easy waterfall viewing. Close to town and a nice drive up to it. Carve out the extra few minutes to take a peek.
Amy M — Google review
I enjoy waterfalls. We discovered this while exploring the island during a drive.
Jessica F — Google review
A nice yet small set of waterfalls, with lush vegetation about, wildflowers and wild chickens. There are trails down towards the falls but our tour did not allow time for that. Across the road, you can see down to the Wailua River and down to a field where reportedly "Indy" ran across to escape the tribesman and jump aboard the floatplane in the first Indiana Jones movie.
Graham T — Google review
After visiting Wailua Falls this fall doesn’t seem as impressive. The parking lot is far, so you’ll be using your zoom to take photos. Parking is free. There is a restroom near by. I don’t think it’s worth the 20 minutes drive from Wailua Falls. You shouldn’t need to spend more than 5-10 minutes here. Skip it if it’s your first visit to Kauai.
Hi A — Google review
Beautiful waterfall. Clear view. The view point is easily accessible by car (restrooms available at the point). It's on the way to the Hindu monastery on Kauai (very easy to find).
Ivana M — Google review
Plenty of parking with restrooms on location. Bummer that the water falls were so far away, but you do get a good view of them from this point. Across the street has an overlook as well thats worth checking out.
Samir M — Google review
Having proper expectations makes this experience a whole lot better. First off, this location that you’ve selected is the actual falls, not the area that you view them from. The viewing area is on google as “Opaeka’a Falls Vista Parking” and is down the road (makai) a bit. The view is at a moderate distance (actually 0.25 miles as the Nene flies) but still quite enjoyable. Nice place to take pictures. Also restroom facilities are available in the parking lot. Cross the street and there is a viewing point for the Wailua river. You can often see the kayaks going up and down the river (actual a super fun and easy adventure you should try).

Nestled along the picturesque shores of the Wailua River in Kauai's Coconut Coast, Smith's Tropical Paradise is a stunning 30-acre botanical garden that invites visitors to immerse themselves in its lush beauty. This enchanting destination features winding paths that meander through vibrant tropical fruit orchards and unique replicas of Polynesian and Filipino huts.
Beautiful garden with several areas, peacocks and native birds just walking around and plenty of native tropical flowers like plumeria and hibiscus. I almost got a heat stroke from the heat. Ticket to get in is $10. It's very quiet and spacious and barely anybody there. It's very clean and well kept.

We had our wedding ceremony at Smith’s Tropical Paradise and it was perfect! The view was beautiful. We did the elopement package and had 15 guests. It was only $375 dollars, plus they allowed us to bring in beer for an extra fee. We hired a separate elopement planner so we didn’t use the photographer or officiant provided by Smith’s. This was a great option though if you are eloping and want something affordable and private. The venue also has a paved path if you have guests with mobility issues. I highly recommend Smith’s Tropical Paradise for your wedding!

Beautiful grounds with plenty of well kept native Hawaiian plants. The peacocks, doves, chickens and ducks are quite friendly and will spend a lot of time by your side, especially if you have food to feed them! Quite enjoyed the evening stroll from each garden to another. A must do on a visit to Kauai. Paired with Luau and show will make for a memorable evening!
Evan S — Google review
We read about Smiths Tropical Paradise and decided to take our 17 month old son to see what the park had to offer. This hidden gem was so cool because you get to feed a lot of animals and get to walk around a nice botanical garden. The place is very well maintained and clean, we were even handed some umbrellas after a quick rain kicked in. We saw a lot of plants, fruit, birds and we spent over an hour and a half just enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere.
Nick C — Google review
Very pretty and short walk with botanical views. I thought the banana, jackfruit, and avacado trees were really cool to see. When purchasing your ticket, you will be surrounded by birds (chickens, ducks, and some other types) where you can also buy food to feed them. I opted out for this for obvious reasons but the birds will continue to follow you throughout the park.

Smith's Tropical Paradise in Kauai is a renowned destination, especially when paired with the Smith Family Garden Luau, which offers an authentic Hawaiian experience. The place is surrounded by lush scenery and local charm. Tropical Paradise Garden, featuring Asian and Pacific plants, replicas of native huts, and exotic plant species are unique features. We enjoyed lavish dinner followed by traditional Hawaiian entertainment, including hula dancing, Tahitian drum dances, and a fire knife warrior performance. You will savor Hawaiian flavors like kalua pork, chicken adobo, and mahimahi fish, accompanied by an open bar with tropical drinks. Overall, Smith's Tropical Paradise and the Smith Family Garden Luau offer a unique and enriching experience, allowing us to immerse themselves in Hawaiian culture and traditions.

I absolutely adored this place. There’s so many flowers around to check out as well as a lot of birds. If you aren’t scared of birds I’d highly recommend purchasing some of the bird seed out front to bring along your walk. The birds will follow you everywhere if you have the seeds just a heads up. There wasn’t a lot of people there so it was a nice quiet walk with the lovely birds and beautiful flowers. I will definitely be coming back on my next trip!

Best luau on the island! This is my third luau on Kauai and the others pale in comparison. If you are looking for a Hawaiian cultural experience, with explanations followed by a full theater experience where the many cultures that have influenced the islands are celebrated, then this is the place for you. The food was excellent. You get to watch the unearthing of the pig (oma) then enjoy him and several of his friends on the buffet line. Many food choices and six buffet lines so it went quickly. Full drink menu included alcohol and soda. Wonderful staff filling and refilling coffee and water. I am vegan, and one of the staff brought me a special dinner of tofu stir-fry. All of the buffet dishes were clearly marked and there were several vegan dishes there as well (not just the poi!). Entertainment while you eat, then the grand show at an open air theater. Totally awesome. My grandson was suitable impressed by the show with fire and lights, drums and dancers. Not to be missed!

Fern Grotto is a must-see attraction on Kauai, known for its lush fern-covered cave formed from lava rock. Situated along the Wailua River, it offers a picturesque and leisurely journey through the island's landscapes. Visitors can reach the grotto by taking a riverboat tour or kayaking up the Wailua River. The area also provides access to other attractions such as stand-up paddleboarding, hiking trails, and Opaekaa Falls.
This is one of the most beautiful fern grottos, I've ever seen the beautiful lava cavern dripping with ferns forms a natural amphitheater with excellent acoustics at the grotto Keeping with island custom, a song was serenaded to me with the traditional Hawaiian wedding song. I highly recommend that if you ever want to see something so beautiful, there's about a 200 yd, walk up and back to this grotto, but well worth the walk, please go see it. And enjoy.
James C — Google review
Its a short walk (10 minutes) through lush green surroundings to get from the boat (water transport is the only way to get here) to the Grotto itself. The path is flat and paved and highly accessible, as are the boats that bring you here. You cant stand directly underneath the grotto as it is a protected area and potentially hazardous. The acoustics were demonstrated by our local guide.
Graham T — Google review
This is a nice place that is very developed and maintained. Go on weekends to avoid the large crowds that the Smiths boat tours bring. To access it without the boat tours, paddle up the Wailua River and land and the kayak area. Then just hike up the grotto viewpoint. Sadly you cannot access the grotto anymore beyond the viewpoint.
LC 4 — Google review
Nice boat ride to the fern Grotto. It was nice but wasn’t overly impressive. I’ve seen a lot more impressive ones than this one. I enjoyed the walk to the Grotto and back to the boat more. Some singing entertainment on the way back from the grotto.
Mike M — Google review
This beautiful historic site was a delight. The waterfall is a mere trickle, but the ferns hanging from the rocks are dazzling. They hang like green beads strung on wire hanging from the rock face above the cave mouth. Many people come here to get married or recommit their vows. The path leading up to the grotto is lined with beautiful flowers and bamboo groves. It is a medium length walk from the boat landing to the grotto, so wear appropriate shoes.
Peter C — Google review
A really pretty and serene state park! We kayaked in and had the place to ourselves. Can be tricky docking the kayaks maybe for beginners, but if you are with a guide I’m sure it would be fine! Restrooms on sight. Beautiful plants and birds and gorgeous grotto! Loved it
Sarah Z — Google review
The Fern Grotto in Kauai was a wonderful experience. The boat ride was serene, with warm spring rain in early May that dried quickly. Though it felt a bit crowded and the weather limited the view at the end, the walk and lush surroundings made it all very enjoyable.
Adis — Google review
Water access only. 15 minute boat ride (we took Smith's Fern Grotto boat tour) or kayak to get to the park then it's a 10 minute walk to the Grotto. The path is paved and fairly flat. It is wheelchair accessible. There are restrooms near the bottom of the path but up a flight of stairs. Beautiful location. No access is allowed to the Grotto itself. There is an overlook deck.

Wailua Falls is a stunning double waterfall famous for its appearance in the 'Fantasy Island' opening credits and the rainbows that often form in its mist. While it's legal to visit the falls, access to the bottom of the South Fork Wailua River is prohibited due to liability concerns. Despite this, determined visitors have been known to make their way down for a more immersive experience.
Fun, can't-miss spot to visit on Kauai! ⛲️🌈 The drive is a bit winding with overgrown brush all along but feels adventurous 🚙🌿 Parking is limited but cars drive in and out pretty quickly - not much to see just snap a quick selfie with the falls 🤳 and keep going - hit the beach next 😉🤙

Beautiful waterfalls and no hiking required! If you’re on a chill day after a bunch of adventures like we were, it’s perfect. You literally pull right up to it and park 50 ft away. Beautiful scenic view

Beautiful fall but the views were a bit obstructed due to shrubbery etc. Still enjoyed seeing it but recommended going early as there is little parking and got crowded quick.

Looking for something to see when Kauai? Wailua Falls is one of the best place to see. This place is easy to get to because it is a drive up waterfall. There is parking available and a view for you to look over and see the beautiful view. I wouldn’t recommend walking down because it is unsafe. This is a must see when visiting Kauai. Great for those who are handicapped, cannot hike or with families.
Michelle M — Google review
No hiking trail, you can park and just walk up to it. Pretty cool to see! I went around 4-5pm during the weekday and there was a bunch of parking.
Chris M — Google review
Pretty but hard to see from the lookout. Long drive for a roadside view. The drive was very very pretty. A fence blocked the trail going down to the bottom, with signs stating that the ground was unstable. We went there to go to the bottom of the falls, so that was disappointing. Only recommend if you’re looking for something to pass the time.
Melissa H — Google review
The Falls themselves are beautiful, but are a little bit hard to see. The parking lot at the end of the drive is very small and it's a one-way in / out. It takes a little bit of automotive gymnastics to get cars in and out

The beach is known for its tree-lined shores and jetty-enclosed swimming areas that are ideal for snorkeling. The park offers a variety of amenities including picnic tables, barbecue grills, campsites, outdoor showers, and restrooms. It also features a playground called Kamalani Playground which is great for families with children.
Wonderful beach. Plenty of parking, picnic tables and bathroom facilities. Nice maintained walking paths just off the sand. Beach itself was nice and soft. Not a lot of room for a bunch of people and umbrellas but that is ok. This is a great beach to come down and eat a meal, walk the paths and take a quick dip in the water.
Derek M — Google review
This is a pretty cool beach, especially if you come with young kids. We visited it on our last day so we didn't actually get to swim in it, but several people were snorkeling and the water was very calm. There are 2 separate swimming areas that are kind of blocked off from waves as you can see in the pictures. Of, course some waves come over the rocks, but nothing crazy. Definitely a good beach to check out just to see or if you are looking for calm waters. You can see in the pictures and video, outside of the "designated" swimming areas you would not want to swim as there is tons of drift wood everywhere and lots of rocks.
Becca F — Google review
The most perfect beach for kids who do not want to get into rough waters, with man-made designated pods for kids to still enjoy the waves and a less rocky floor. Bathrooms and showers are available, but parking can be difficult during peak hours. The sunset isn't really beautiful from here.
M M — Google review
We absolutely loved this beach due to the rock barrier. There were so many fish swimming in here that it was amazing. The water was calm, even when the ocean was rough there were shade and benches plenty of picnic tables, nice bathrooms, and showers and lifeguards on duty.

Amazing beach. Perfect for families with little kids. This beach offers 2 ponds/sections; one for smaller kids with shallow water and the larger section for everyone else. Not too deep. Perfect area for snorkeling and spending a day by the beach.
Dmitry A — Google review
This beach is perfect for kids and novice snorkelers. There is a wall around an area of water that protects it from the waves. It's safe and calm. The snorkeling isn't full of the most bright and colorful fish, but there are lots of fish there in the protected area and the water is clear and clean. There are picnic tables and places to shower off. There's also lots of shade. It's a great place for families to hang out and enjoy the water.

The Na Pali Experience in Kekaha offers a variety of family activities, including boat tours, fishing, and hiking trails. Visitors have praised the competent and thrilling ride provided by Captain Dan, who expertly navigated the calm winter ocean to explore sea caves and encounter multiple pods of dolphins. Guests have described the tour as a breathtaking reminder of the beauty of the world and highly recommend it for anyone visiting Kauai.
I've been visiting Kauai for 20+ years and tried many boat touring companies. While many are good, Na Pali Experience has exceeded them all for me. This was the first time I did a private boat tour (6 people on small boat) and it was superior to group catamarans in a few significant ways: - In large/shared boats, there's no customization with the routes you take or the stops you make. Jackson was able to tailor our trip to what we wanted to do and accommodate everyone's interests. - If you're prone to motion sickness (like me) you don't feel it at all on a small boat, this was the first time I was able to enjoy the trip start to finish because the boat doesn't oscillate like a catamaran. - The small boat let's you get closer to the water and other sight seeing; the agility helps maneuver by and into caves with weather permitting, making for a much cooler and immersive experience. I would recommend Na Pali Experience every single time and I hope they keep the small boat tours as it's one of the best experiences the island has to offer. Thank you Captain Jackson for the BEST time!

We went today at the 7 am cruise and it was truly epic. You show up to a parking lot with an attendant, and QR codes to pay for parking, which was a flat rate for the day. We were a bit early, but Roy was there right away to greet us and start checking folks in. He gave us a ton of information, really well explained, and simply put. He gave us large dry bags to put our stuff in, and we all walked a very short distance to the pier. The captain, Kiley, was there to pick us up and after a concise safety briefing and explanation of what to expect, we were off. I won't go over the entire trip in detail because folks should experience it on their own, but it was jaw dropping. The views are unlike anything I've ever seen, and Roy and Kiley were the most outstanding hosts. We felt completely confident in their knowledge and expertise, and were charmed by their authentic kindness. They are good people, who also happen to be incredible at their careers. I have a stressful job and Kiley and Roy took extra time and effort to make sure I had a blast, and I'll take that and give it back to the community I serve back home. I'm so grateful.

We saw some nice swells and rode with the spinner dolphins twice on our trip. The views up toward Na Pali can't be described and the crews knowledge of Hawaiian history and stories made the trip very enjoyable. We had an incredible day. Thank you.

One of the absolute highlights of my trip to Kauaʻi! I can’t recommend this experience highly enough. The crew truly goes above and beyond to make sure you have the best time possible — from spotting dolphins and snorkeling with turtles to getting splashed by a waterfall and exploring the incredible beauty of the Nā Pali Coast (weather permitting, of course). I also appreciated that this tour reaches the snorkeling spots early, so we had the place to ourselves before other boats arrived — definitely worth booking one of the earlier departures if you want that experience or better chances of seeing dolphins. The crew even helped us find the perfect angles for photos! A huge shoutout to Jay and Kiley for making the day unforgettable and the entire trip effortless for everyone on board.

We had the best day ever today! We absolutely recommend the „Morning Magic Tour“ with Na Pali Experience. Captain Chellen and Kasey were the best. They are local and so open minded and made the tour through that even more special with giving us all the information to this beautiful coast. We loved that the groups were smaller than on the other boats we saw. Everyone had the chance to experience the tour on the front of the boat. We even saw the dolphins twice 😍. We would give those guys even more stars than 5 if possible 😍 thank you so much for this once in a lifetime experience!! Ryan & Melina

We were looking for a view of the Na Pali coast from the water and the Morning Magic "dolphin guarantee" cruise looked exactly like what we wanted. It did not disappoint! Although the lighting was not great for pictures, we saw many dolphins! The views of the coastline and the amazing knowledge and professionalism of Kiley and Roy made this one of the best boat tours I have ever been on. I will tell everyone I know to take this cruise if they come here!

This was one of the highlights of my trip to Kauai! I cannot recommend enough!! These guys really try to give you the best experience possible with everything from seeing dolphins, snorkeling with turtles, getting dunked in a waterfall and just exploring and learning about the Na Pali coast (weather permitting with some of these activities). I noticed this particular cruise will get to snorkeling spots early so we didn’t have to share space with all the others if that’s something you’re interested in (I recommend booking an earlier time for this and for dolphin sightings). They will also help you get the best angles when it comes to taking pictures. Huge shoutout to Jay and Kylie for making the day wonderful and making the trip a breeze for all passengers.

This trip was 100% worth waking up and leaving the hotel at 5:30am. We have been on multiple Na Pali coast tours over the years, and this was by far the best. Casey and Kellen were our crew and were absolutely fantastic. We did the Deluxe Power Catamaran tour and the boat was comfortable and gave us fantastic views of the coastline. We got to go in caves, under waterfalls, and had multiple encounters with dolphins. We would book with this company again in a heartbeat!

If you're seeking an unforgettable experience in Kauai, look no further than Blue Ocean Adventure Tours. This thrilling excursion offers a unique opportunity to explore the breathtaking Na Pali Coast while enjoying the company of knowledgeable and friendly captains like AJ, Steven, Grace, and Kalin. Their expertise ensures a safe yet exhilarating ride on zodiac rafts as you navigate through waves and take in stunning coastal views. The adventure is packed with excitement—spotting dolphins up close is just one of the highlights!
Blue Ocean Adventure Zodiac Tour We had the absolute best time on this tour, and it was truly the highlight of our trip! Our captain and guide, Kelci, was beyond amazing—knowledgeable, personable, and full of energy, even though he does multiple tours a day. He was also the best driver I’ve ever seen on the water—so skilled and confident, which made the whole experience even better. The tour itself is incredible, but be prepared—it’s five full hours on the water and not for the faint of heart. The waves get big, and seasickness is very common. If you think you might be prone to it, definitely take medication before heading out. That said, even with the rough seas, the trip was unforgettable. We explored sea caves, saw dolphins, and went snorkeling in the most beautiful spots. One thing I really want to emphasize: the crew works so hard, so please remember to tip them. They go above and beyond to make sure everyone is safe, comfortable, and having a great time. I went with my 60-year-old mother, and she handled it like a champ—but it’s worth noting this tour is physically demanding. It’s bumpy, strenuous on the body, and you’re exposed to the elements the entire time. If you’re in decent shape and up for adventure, though, you’ll absolutely love it. All in all, this was an unforgettable experience, thanks to Kelci and the amazing Blue Ocean Adventure team. Well worth the money paid for this trip. 10/10

Hands down best Na Pali Coast tour in the island. Captain Kevin, Kaikoa, and Carly were superb. The Captain handled that catamaran better than Jack Sparrow did with the Black Pearl. All the crew was very attentive and extremely knowledgeable about the island and its rich history. No questions were left unanswered. And finishing the tour swimming by the coast with the included gear was just the cherry on top. If you come to Kauai and don’t take this tour, you didn’t come to Kauai.

100/10!!! Omg!! We just did the Zodiac tour today in the morning and it was INCREDIBLE! We saw Dolphins, Monk Seals, took a nature walk, went through amazing caves, had lunch with the best crew ever! My dad and I loved this tour so much. HIGHLY recommend!!! They truly treat you like family. Best tour I’ve ever experienced on water. Thank you for making our father daughter vacation one for the books!!!!! 🥰🩷

I went in October and took the 730am tour. Check-in time is 645am with safety briefing, they provide you with dry bag as well. Captain Maka was phenomenal. This was my first zodiac tour and I would book it again without hesitation. I also rented a GoPro! I do tend to get sea sick but I took Dramamine and wore motion sickness patch and I was ok during the tour. The only time I felt some nausea was when the boat stopped. We saw the NaPali coast, dolphins and even sighted turtles and seal, went into the caves! definitely a highlight of my trip

Our Zodiac Tour was definitely the highlight of the day! Our guides Steven and captain Keaka are super professional and knowledgeable about Na Pali coast and all the sea caves. My heart was racing FAST when the captain gets a bit adventurous doing roller coaster like acts. The landing at an ancient Hawaiian Village blew my mind, so sacred and beautiful! Overall our ride was smooth and nothing too rough. 6/5 star experience and 100% recommend!

The Nordic raft tour was epic. Our captains Aka and Kele who were skilled and great at show us everything along the coast. They were very entertaining playing the music and were singing along. We would high recommend this company as they are one of the two companies that allow landing on a deserted beach to have lunch. 🌴

Cannot recommend this tour with Blue Ocean Adventures enough! With some impending challenges for the tour with rain and large swells, there was an opportunity to switch our tour date which we took advantage of and felt SO grateful for. The day we went was perfect: the weather was great and our guides Danny and Carly made the entire day a blast. Although this time of year it can be difficult to get through the caves, Capt Danny still got us up very close to them and even in one briefly. We got to see mountain goats along the Nepali coast, a pod of 100 dolphins, a sea turtle, and also got to snorkel and see tons of fish. We appreciated hearing more about the land from Carly as we got a great tour of the coast and also loved the music. The snacks were a nice touch as well. There’s nothing bad I could say about this experience and will happily recommend it to anyone staying in Kauai.

My daughters and I had an incredible experience aboard the Na Pali Explorer Catamaran with Blue Ocean. From the moment we stepped on board for the 7:30 AM tour, we felt completely at ease—thanks to the exceptional crew and our skilled captain, Kevin. Taylor, Stephen, and Anson were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun to be around, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Despite my kids being a bit skittish on boats, they were calm and smiling throughout the journey. The views were breathtaking, the ride was smooth, and the entire experience was filled with awe and laughter. It was, without a doubt, the highlight of our 12-day adventure across Maui and Kaua‘i. We’ll be talking about this trip for years to come!

Kauai Backcountry Adventures offers thrilling excursions through 17,000 acres of former sugarcane fields above Lihue. Their unique tubing ride takes visitors through canals in the former plantation. Additionally, they provide a seven-line zip course from the mountainside to a bamboo grove with a swimming hole. The company also offers tours to Halii Falls for a picnic and swim. The irrigation system from the former plantation now serves as part of their tubing attraction.
Absolutely a great time & well worth the price you pay. So much fun & interesting information you learn about the island. Guides are mainly locals which gives a real authentic feel to your experience. Our driver was Uncle Darrell & he was great on the bumpy roads. We went in August & the water temperature was perfect not to cold. There's places that are like going through rapids & you do a lot of bouncing off the walls, which is so much fun. The tunnels are amazing & big. So I hope you all enjoy this adventure as much as I did. Definitely worth it, would do it again.

This was an amazing experience. The tour guy Cody was funny and nice. One of the best memory made in Kauai was booking this trip. The rest of the tour guys at the river was nice and super cool. The river was refreshing and the view was beautiful. They made funny jokes that entertained the whole group during the whole ride. They were so wonderful that towards the end of the tubing even I felt a heartache because who knows when we will ever meet again. Thank you for doing such a wonderful job.
Ying L — Google review
My wife and I did both the tubing and zip lining, and it was fantastic. The journey they take you on is through a private reserve, which is both breathtaking and a fun ride. The tubing is a lot of fun, being at the mercy of the current is exciting and traveling through the tunnels is just such a fun time. The zip lining is much more chill and a smaller group, but the views are to die for. A lot of fun too! Special shout out to our great guides, Barkley, Hans, and Daren! They really all made the tours a notch better. I will be recommending all the tours to our friends!

We had a wonderful time with Kauai Backcountry Adventures. They were well organized, safe and fun. We had Mason as our guide, he was delightful, offering great information about Hawaiian customs, history, practices and food. He has a great sense of humor and musical abilities too! He was accompanied by Rose and Cameron who worked together as a team. We enjoyed how they made it a lot of fun along the way. This was a great way to spend a half day on the island, we recommend it!

The mountain tubing adventure was truly an amazing experience. Absolutely worth it if you are visiting Kauai for the first or fifth time. Cameron (sp?), our tour guide, was a total delight and the whole crew was attentive, friendly, funny, and created an amazing experience for our family of seven. The "ride" takes you through a well-shaded canal route (with patches of sunshine), in and out of a series of tunnels, and is just swift enough to provide some thrills while maintaining an overall feeling of being totally safe and relaxed. If you are looking for winding, whitecap rapids, this isn't your tour. Think of it more like a stepped-up lazy river. There are some swift moving sections but never to the point where you feel swept away or like you're going to flip your tube. The guides ensure a smooth trip down the plantation's irrigation canals and it's just plain ol' fun. The included lunch is...fine...nothing to write home about (a simple sandwich and chips). But it was a nice hold-over. We visited in late October and bugs were a non-issue. Overall amazing and highly recommended.

This was excellent! Noah was the best tour guide with a lot of great information and tips to give as you traveled to different locations. He was engaging, funny, and politely pointed out typical rude behaviors he has seen from some tourists to help people mesh with the community better while enjoying the island. The tubing was really fun, relaxing, and a great way to spend a day. Sun, tunnels, water, a bit of lunch, and some laughs. Should definitely do this if on Kauai.

The tubing adventure was a blast! It's fun and suitable for all ages, as you go though multiple caves and have a awesome tour guide. The assistants were very cool as well. A cheap lunch is provided at the end.

The Kauaʻi Museum, housed in the historic Albert Spencer Wilcox Building, is a captivating showcase of the island's rich history and cultural heritage. The museum features a diverse array of permanent and rotating exhibits displaying ancient tools, tapa cloth, featherwork, furniture, clothing, shells, bird specimens, photographs, and original paintings by esteemed local artists. The building itself is a remarkable example of indigenous Hawaiian architecture with a unique design by Hart Wood.
A beautiful museum to spend a morning learning about the culture and history of the island. I hope they are able to continue to grow it. I feel like there is so much more story they want to tell. ❤️

I really enjoyed the museum and learning more about Kauai. There’s so many cool things to see and learn. I really wish I had more time there, but had to catch my flight home. The best part of the museum was the wonderful ladies in the gift shop. I truly enjoyed chatting with them and they helped me pick out some beautiful pearl earrings for myself. I was really emotional, not wanting to leave the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. The lady was so nice and gave me a hug, truly so kind, I felt comfortable to openly ask questions and she just felt like family. I only wish I got her name and address so we could be penpals until I move there one day. ❤️ If you read this…please let’s try to keep in touch!

Wonderful local museum that covers a broad range of Kaua'i history. Really worth visiting if you have an interest in local history as it relates to the crafts, ocean navigation, agriculture, surfing, immigration, royal family, and natural history.

Lovely local museum, carefully recreating life and history on the island of Kauai. Many artifacts. Lovely antiques. Lots of enticing photos of people, animals, movie stars. We spent over an hour in the museum…and 30 minutes in the gift shop!

This place provided me with a fantastic historical experience for the state of Hawaii and the royal lineage that unified and governed the Hawaiian islands long before the US showed up. I highly recommend this museum to all locals and tourists.

Normal price is $15 admission for adults but seniors have a $12 rate. Children's have another one but I don't recall what it was. Very interesting artifacts and history of the island. I highly recommend it if you are interested in learning about where you travel to. You just self tour yourself around. I've posted lots of pictures as you can see in my review of this museum. The staff was very friendly. We went on a Wednesday around 1:00 and there was absolutely no wait. We ran across another visitor that gave us a few more explanations about other items which was rather interesting as well that he learned going through the museum. Where you go in or exit from there's a nice little gift shop with random miscellaneous souvenirs and history books and whatnot. As usual some of the history was pretty sad in the past, some of the things that happened to the people.
Kathy C — Google review
Lovely little museum that captures Kauai history. The museum is pretty small and could be explored in 1-2 hours. The initial building has lots of history ranging from initial discovery and inhabitation to colonial times. There is lots of reading available to learn about the history of the island and the area. Lots of cool native artifacts to see. The second building had the history of plantations, surfing and sports, and war world 2. Interesting stuff on migration cycles and influences on the island from the 1800 on. It was a good break in the middle of the day. Has a small gift shop.

Wonderful place to go during a storm or to escape the heat. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Local made gifts in the small store. Not as kid friendly as other museums, no interactive areas and lots of tempting objects with no touch signs.

Kalapaki Beach is a stunning crescent-shaped beach with calm waters, making it perfect for swimming. The upscale Marriott hotel overlooks the beach and offers a seaside promenade lined with coconut palms and well-maintained lawns. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll along the promenade or enjoy drinks at the hotel's terrace with a sea view. While Marriott guests have access to beach amenities, there is plenty of space for other visitors to relax on the sand or grassy areas.
Great beach especially if you are just here for a day on a cruise ship. Great little shops near by, restaurants and the water is lovely. As always, there is the local mascot running around.

We visit the island in September so I’m not sure what the water is like in other months so the times we have been here - the waves are pretty big, you’ll walk out covered in sand and the water isn’t clear like other beaches but It’s a great area for surfing and for sunsets!

Fantastic beach with super calm waters. Seems like it supported everyone doing whatever their niche hobby was. Never felt overcrowded and there are plenty of options for shaded seating if you want to get out of the sun.

The beach is free for everyone to use. Despite the existence of the Marriott close to the shores don't let that discourage you from trying out this beach. We've been visiting this beach for over 20 years and we still love it. Great place for the kids and adults.

What a beautiful beach. Perfect for the passengers on Norwegian Pride of America. We asked a taxi to take us to a specific beach 7 miles away. He said that is no good. However, he knew a good beach 30 minutes away. We said no, thank you . I know they need to make money, but that isn't the way. Beware of taxi's. We took a free shuttle, and it was a red and green trolley . It was close and going to the shops. The driver told us how to get to the beach across from the shops. FREE ride back and forth and free beach. Kalapaki Beach is perfect for families with children. There is a bar, restaurant, bathrooms, and outside shower all FREE . They rent chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards available for a charge. There is some driftwood, as other reviewers commented. I found small pieces but nothing that I would even mention. It is the Pacific Ocean. I would be surprised if all the beaches have some amount of driftwood. Do not miss the place. The water was nice and clear once you passed the breaker waves. You will see the very clear bottom. I usually wear ocean shoes, but I felt it wasn't necessary. The children really like to dig, so pack your dollar store shovels. I wished I had one.😏 It was a 5 star experience 🤙

Beautiful spot to view the ocean and watch surfers. The adjacent grassy park is potentially wonderful, however, like many spots around the country, there’s a noticeable homeless population who leave the parking area littered with garbage and broken down vehicles. Kauai County needs to address this eyesore immediately. Many of these unfortunate individuals have drug, alcohol, and mental issues and there misfortunes sadly spill over into those who want to safely recreate in the park without being disturbed by these people.

A beautiful smaller beach near the resort. There is a lawn so you can spread things out and it won't be full of sand. Calm waves, you can swim in peace. Parking is easy to find even in the afternoon.

Blue Dolphin Charters is a cruise agency that offers a variety of guided adventures, including scuba and snorkeling trips, whale watching tours, and other exciting experiences. Their 65-foot catamaran provides stunning views of the Napali Coast and South Shore from its open and upper decks. The tours include opportunities to go snorkeling, scuba diving, enjoy sunset views, or simply cruise around Kauai's scenic landmarks.
My family and I had such a great time on Blue Dolphin Charters. This was our first time on a boat excursion with our little one who is 8 years old. She really enjoyed the food, surprisingly! Since she’s super picky. The views were amazing and so with our crew members Zekeal and Kawika they took care of us and made sure we were safe and if we needed photos taken they offered a helping hand. Our captain kept us safe and we truly appreciate it, Kealoha! When we return we are definitely going on another boat ride! Thank you so much!

My husband and I just returned from out trip to Kauai and we have to say that this Charter was the HIGHLIGHT of our trip. We were in awe of the scenery and the staff were ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. They were knowledgeable, kind, attentive and very kind when it came down to it. Captain Elia, was wonderful and funny- we loved his energy and his love for the island. Maddie, Collin and Kelani were wonderful with helping with snacks, drinks, questions or if we or anyone needed anything. We saw them interacting with everyone on the boat and present to take some great photos which is appreciated!! I am a professional photographer and this trip was a dream to capture the coast and I loved the energy and vibe from booking to docking at the end. Thank you, Blue Dolphin Charters for the amazing experience and time.

Amazing Morning on the Na Pali Coast! From the very beginning, Captain J. Sea and Kawika made this experience unforgettable. They were both so funny and fun, creating a relaxed atmosphere and making everyone feel comfortable right away. Captain J. Sea explained everything about the Na Pali Coast with passion and knowledge, while Kawika kept everyone laughing with his jokes, and even made sure to take amazing photos of us with the most iconic scenery of the coast! Their dolphin policy is definitely real! We saw multiple groups of dolphins, three different times in different spots! It was magical. Snorkeling was also a blast! We saw so many turtles! The crew provided all the gear and kept checking on us to make sure everyone felt safe and was having fun. The food was simple but tasty, and they were always offering water and anything else we might need. Captain J. Sea went out of her way to make sure we got the most out of the morning, even taking us to the sea caves while keeping safety a top priority. Three words to sum up this adventure: fun, breathtaking, and unforgettable. Mahalo for such a beautiful experience! P.S. Sharing a selfie of the crew — they may want it lol

Hands down one of the best moments so far on my trip !! Captain Kai, Chasen, and Zeke are the BEST! They provided the best service and an amazing experience for everyone! Captain Kai kept us entertained with amazing music and stories of Na Pali Coast. They all had everything they needed to have best on charter experience while being safe. Cheesan and Zeke also took care of dinner plates and drinks to make sure we can enjoy the views on the upper deck. We saw dolphins and baby sharks and enjoyed the sunset ! Overall, strongly recommend this company and this crew. #bluedolphincharters

Kealoha, Lily, and Dylan were all a delight and the Na'pali Coast cruise was as fun and beautiful as we had hoped. Dinner was superb despite the moving catamaran and sea conditions. We absolutely loved our tour of the coast! Our crew and captain were amazing, so thank you J Sea, Kelani, Nicole, and Pa’a!! They were hilarious, and extremely helpful with taking photos for us, and helping hold things/help us balance on board. We had never snorkeled before either, so this trip made for plenty of memories ❤️

5 stars is for the crew and captain Joe's humor! 5 for Napoli coast and dolphins and flying fish!. we had the 7am tour and definitely saw a lot! Snorkeling was okay.... saw a few fish nothing crazy. They didn't go into the sea caves cause the boat doesn't fit so that was kinda sad since I thought that's what I booked but you can peek at the mouth of it. Warning ⚠️ this is not for the weak of stomch... my husband and I love rollercoasters but this totally had my husband throwing up off the boat and 3 other guys beside me and this was a very calm wave day acording to the captain. However the crew was very sensitive and attentive to everyone and also making everyone feel less awkward about it like how the fish love us and so on lol! Also love that they had a vegetarian option. Only tour i saw that did that

Embark on an unforgettable adventure with the Catamaran Kahanu, a family-owned business that offers captivating tours along the Na Pali Coast of Kauai. From March to December, indulge in a two-hour whale watching tour and witness humpback whales breaching and playing in their natural habitat. Keep an eye out for dolphins and sea turtles as well.
Captain Kamua and his crew were great hosts and made sure each passenger on their boat felt welcomed. They did an outstanding job helping passengers see whales, dolphins, cliffs, etc. They helped each of us with taking the best pictures of the wildlife and Napali coast ridges and valleys. If you're considering a Napali coast tour, you will not be disappointed at all and will be glad you chose Catamaran Kahanu.

This was the best experience!! I love supporting locally owned businesses, so when I heard about this one, I immediately booked it. The boat is super nice, the crew was fun and informative, the views were unbelievable. The ride out, my mom and I stood at the front of the boat. If you choose to do this, be prepared to be soaked. We got splashed by the waves every time we went over one but it was such a fun ride. The caves and waterfalls were so pretty and the dolphin sighting was incredible. There were so many and they were so curious they actually came to the boat!

Our bachelorette group had an unforgettable experience with Catamaran Kahanu! Cpt. Kamua took such great care of us—as well as everyone else on board. He’s incredibly knowledgeable about the Nā Pali Coast, patient and encouraging with first-time snorkelers, and just a fun, positive presence to have leading the adventure. The ocean was a bit rough during our morning tour, and many of us battled seasickness, but Cpt. Kamua went above and beyond to help. He shared helpful tips to ease the nausea and made sure we were as comfortable as possible throughout the trip. It was still worth it because we got to swim with the sea turtles 🐢 and dolphins! 🐬 What really sets this company apart is the family behind it. His sweet mother, Debbie, greeted us with the warmest welcome and led the safety briefing. We also learned that the catamaran itself was built by Cpt. Kamua’s father and passed down through the family—a true piece of local history! Special thanks as well to Sean, Cpt. Kamua’s right-hand man, for keeping everything running smoothly. If you want to experience the Nā Pali Coast with a company that feels personal, local, and genuinely caring, Catamaran Kahanu is the way to go. Thank you for a memorable day!

We had the best time on the catamaran yesterday! Captain Kamua was absolutely hilarious and kept us laughing the whole way, but what made it even more special was the way the trip connected us to the history and mana of the islands. Hearing the stories gave us a whole new respect for Kauai, it felt less like a tour and more like being welcomed into something sacred. It’s also family owned and run with smaller groups, so the whole experience feels warm, personal, and authentic. Thank you so much for everything. You guys are awesome!

Staff were super nice, snorkeled, watched the sunset, drank unhealthy amounts of soda. Great trip! Would 100% advise going if you have the time and money. Tour guides were Bryan, Zeke, and Jason I’m pretty sure. They were super funny and interactive. If you’re a socially awkward weirdo like me this might not be your favorite but they can make conversation!

This is a fantastic tour - rich with Hawaiian history + incredible Napali Coast views. Our morning tour included snorkeling and lunch. We were very happy to meet the kind and relaxed staff and captain who helped us have a fantastic day. We think the value for the price of this tour is well worth it. Support this local Hawaiian owned family business!

We had the absolute best experience with Catamaran Kahanu — truly one of the highlights of our time in Hawaiʻi! The captain was the kindest, most capable person you could hope to be out at sea with. When one of the engines suddenly died, he stayed calm, worked skillfully, and managed to get it running again in no time. Later, when a stranded jetskier’s battery died out in the middle of the water, he not only helped jumpstart it but eventually towed the jetski, brought the man onboard, and dropped him back safely — all while keeping the mood light and friendly! The crew — his son Kahanu and the lovely Jaymee — were just as warm and genuine. They shared stories, looked after everyone, and made the whole Nā Pali Coast experience feel personal and full of aloha. It’s a small, locally owned operation that really embodies the spirit of Hawaiʻi — humble, adventurous, and full of heart. Couldn’t recommend them enough for anyone looking for an unforgettable and authentic experience on Kauaʻi. 🌺🌊🤍

15/10 recommend you do this tour! Our captain Paul and guide Erin were a spectacular team. Very engaged with great attitudes!! Paul had an excellent soundtrack throughout the tour. From island music while telling us Kauai’s rich history. To popular pop and rock music while we were smashing the waves. Sprinkled with awesome island covers of familiar songs!! My favorite part was flying through the caves. Such an exhilarating experience. So much fun and laughter throughout!! Thank you so much, Paul and Erin. I will never forget the time I had or the breathtaking views!!!

Kauai Sea Tours is amazing. My wife and I took the tour of the Napali Coast. The boat is clean, safe, and large enough to walk around and feel comfortable. You can sit either outside or inside but the views are great anywhere. The crew is outstanding. From start to finish, they check on passengers and frequently walk around the boat to bring drinks. I have been on a few different boat cruises, but this crew was the nicest and most attentive I'vee ever experienced. The snacks and food provided is both healthy and high quality. Snacks include fresh fruits and vegetables, hummus dip, and spam rolls. The dinner was chicken, rice, and salad. We had a fantastic time and highly recommend Kauai Sea Tours and look forward to our next tour! A big thank you to to entire team for a memorable afternoon!!

The entire crew was awesome! Special thanks to Captain Kauai, Evan, Audrey, and Alina! Awesome view of the Napali Coast. The crew took very good care of us and checked on us often to provide cocktail, waters, snacks, and lunch. There was a lot of history learned. The snorkel stop was so much fun. Honestly, seeing the spinner dolphins was fantastic & we were lucky to see a sea turtle amongst many other sea life. I was super excited to see an octopus, but could catch a picture of him as my phone was acting funny. I would absolutely suggest this your to my family or friends! Typically, I get super sea sick, but I made sure to get a prescribed patch for this. It worked like a charm, but we were on a catamaran and it made it feel less choppy to me. I was able to enjoy the tour without the nausea and vomiting.

I had a great time on the Lady Kailani for a November sunset cruise (no snorkel). The price point was very slightly higher than some other services available but if you want a comfortable relaxing experience I think its worth it . The boat is brand new and super comfortable with multiple decks, an indoor area, and two clean bathrooms. I felt really safe and enclosed even during the bumpy parts, with lots to grab on to and cushy seats. The staff were super attentive with soft drinks throughout the first part of the journey, appetizers (including musubi!), and with dinner and alcoholic drinks towards the end of the journey. You get a plate dinner rather than a sandwich, which was nice. We saw multiple species of dolphins, and even a few early humpback spouts. The captain narrated the whole journey with interesting facts about the coast and the Hawaiian historical traditions associated with different landmarks. I would definitely pick this company again

Amazing Na Pali Coast Rafting Tour – Unforgettable Experience! We joined the Na Pali Coast rafting tour today with Captain Zach and our guide Elias – and it was absolutely breathtaking! The captain has incredible skills driving the boat. We were literally riding the waves and still felt super safe all the time. The tour gave us so many highlights: - We saw dolphins and had the chance to snorkel in crystal clear water. - Lunch snacks and cool drinks were really good and refreshing. - We learned a lot about the area and the Na Pali Coast. The information was interesting and explained in a very friendly way. - The captain’s music taste was awesome and made the whole trip even more fun. Special thanks to Elias, who was very attentive. He remembered our honeymoon and birthday and mentioned it in such a nice, not disturbing way. Captain Zach and Elias are simply super cool – without them this trip would only have been half as good! They made us feel welcome, safe and at the same time excited for every moment. We highly recommend this tour to everybody who wants to see the Na Pali Coast from the water. It was one of the most amazing experiences of our trip to Hawaii!

We had a great experience! We went on a beautiful day (no wind and calm sea) which, from what we heard, really makes a difference. We chose the Imiloa and loved it! It’s a fast boat but still very comfortable, which is great since it’s a long ride to the Nā Pali Coast. We were lucky to see dolphins and turtles along the way. We did the morning trip, and they started us off with a small snack (a mini cake and fruit). After snorkeling, which happens after you’ve seen the coast, they served a delicious breakfast sandwich with egg and bacon, plus chips. They also offer a variety of drinks during the ride. Highly recommend it it was spectacular!

What an amazing experience!! Our captain Paul was a great driver of the boat. Our crew members were also fantastic! Hailey and Emi were wonderful and made sure we were always taken care of with lots of laughs. The food and drinks were fantastic! I highly recommend this tour it will give you the best memories.

I went on the half day raft tour of the Nā Pali Coast with Captain KK and Elee (apologies if I misspelled his name)…it was absolutely unforgettable. From the very start to finish these 2 created an experience that was not only fun but super knowledgeable of the island. Both KK and Elee are local Hawaiian guides and their connection to the land and ocean brought a unique and authentic perspective that made the tour feel incredibly special. They had a great, deep knowledge of the coastline’s history and its cultural significance. It’s absolutely remarkable to see and hear how much respect they have for the land and Hawaii as a whole. Every detail shared with our boat was beautiful, it was clear in everything they shared within their stories and relating to the ancient Hawaiians of the land along with their own ancestry. Their own knowledge and pride when speaking of the island made you not only feel honored to be there but gives you a different perspective on core values. Sometimes we lose track of that in today’s world. Did I mention it was such a honor to be able to share and be in the moment with them? If not, I’ll say it again! Also to mention, not once did I ever question our safety, as KK and Elee made sure we were all okay even when hitting the waves on the ride back (which was awesome!). They also provide you with food and drinks and even some DELICIOUS homemade cookies! I highly highly highly recommend this tour! It was an immersive experience my family and I will never forget, ever. This tour has single handedly created memories that will last a lifetime. We will forever be super grateful for the time spent with these 2 on the water. They are the absolute best! KK even had a great playlist that went along with the tour perfectly! All around 10 out of 10! I wish I could give 100 stars for them. If you haven’t booked a tour with them, get to it. You will not be disappointed! I will 100% book another tour with them on my next visit! Mahalo! Leana

Choose from a variety of vessels, including motorized catamarans and rigid hull inflatable boats, to explore the 4,000-foot cliffs, sea caves, and secluded coastline. Enjoy snorkeling at pristine spots and experience classic sailing as the catamaran glides by wind power alone.
Our captain was phenomenal! This was the highlight of our trip. Napoli Coast is once in a lifetime experience. Majestic mountains 💖 incredible Sunset and dolphins watching. You must see the coast once in your lifetime. I meaI was prepared on the boat, drinks were flowing. I was concerned maybe I would get seasick but absolutely not. It was a very calm experience. I did take a Dramamine the night before and wore a sea-band But I think it was completely unnecessary for myself. I highly suggest! Worth every penny!

Came in from Texas for a beautiful 2 weeks in Kauai. We knew we wanted to do a sunset cruise but didn’t know what business to choose as there were many options. However, we made the BEST decision in choosing Holo Holo! The crew was very attentive to our every need, they were extremely cautious and ensured we were always safe, they were beyond friendly and very knowledgeable about the island. The crew spent so much time with us guest and it was like talking to a good friend for a few hours with a beautiful view. The food was amazing, shout out to the delicious brownies!! Oh and let’s not forget the crew’s humor. They had all the jokes and all the charisma. 10/10 would come back and choose this charter and crew again. Thank you very much!

Great day on the water crusing along the breathtaking Napali coast. Captain Kevin was extremely knowledgeable and went over every detail from safety to walking us through what to expect from the conditions of the sea. The crew was so hospitable and worked hard to make sure everyone was comfortable & enjoying themselves. They knew so much about the history of the Napali coast and were eager to share. It genuinely seemed like they enjoyed their jobs and were passionate about what they do. Food and drinks exceeded expectations as well! Don’t miss out on this experience!

What a fantastic trip exploring the Nā Pali Coast in Kauaʻi, Hawaii - emerald cliffs, waterfalls, sea caves, a shark sighting, brown boobies, and flying fish galore. Unlimited mai tais, snacks, a yummy stir fry, and a champagne toast at sunset were also highly enjoyable. Captain Mike, and crew members made an already amazing experience even better with their kindness, humor, and knowledge. Also, sailing on a catamaran is the way to go. You get wet, but that’s all part of the excitement! 100% recommend this sunset dinner cruise! What a blast!

We had a wonderful evening on the Napali Coast sunset sail! We were initially nervous based on some reviews about how rough the water would be. We took preventatives and the captain said it was excellent sailing weather and we had no issues!. I will say, it’s still a rougher ride compared to boat tours in other locations, but I do feel the catamaran vessel adds extra stability. Definitely recommend some preventatives even if you've never experienced motion sickness before. We were able to see a pod of spinner dolphins on the way and the Napali coast up close was stunning. The captain and crew were awesome as well. Jess was especially helpful with her knowledge as a marine biologist! We ended the evening with a delicious meal and absolutely beautiful sunset. Highly recommend this group to take you up the Napali Coast.

Words are hard with this one.. this was without a doubt the most incredible experience we have had with boat tours on Kauai. Captain Glen and his team were SO fun, kind and personable. Will definitely be visiting them again on our next trip to Kauai. If you’re thinking of a sunset dinner cruise, DO IT. And book with these guys. You won’t regret it!

AMAZING charter! Captain Nate and his team were attentive and informative throughout the cruise, serving us delicious food and teaching us about the incredible Napali Coast. The boat is beautiful, and we had smooth sailing the entire trip. We also got to see tons of spinner dolphins, a highlight of our time in Hawaii.

Had a great time with Captain Mike and his awesome crew last week! This was our third sunset cruise with Holo Holo and it did not disappoint. We had rough seas going out and coming back, but it was super fun, and every time we’ve been out there it’s been different. The views were spectacular, the captain and crew were knowledgeable and they shared a lot of Kauai history with us. Met some very nice people as well. So nice to see people celebrating honeymoons and anniversaries. Dinner was good. Even got a rainbow on our way back. Got back to the dock soaking wet, salty, and happy. Mahalo!

What an amazing sunset dinner cruise experience we had!❤️ it was made possible because by a crew that attentive, friendly, entertaining, engaging and professional! Capt. Dane and his crew of Braden, Noah, Katy and Roland were amazing! Beyond some of the best customer service we’ve ever encountered, they all were sure spend time with everyone on board to answer questions and share their island culture and knowledge. On top of that, we had dolphins racing and jumping with us and we had the first whale sighting of the season. Thank you, Capt. Andy’s and crew for helping us celebrate our 50th anniversary in memorable style! Mahalo! Steve & Sharon Reed

Words cannot describe how much we enjoyed this excursion. Out of 5 stars, I would give it an 8. We did the morning Snorkel BBQ Sail on The Northern Star. Our captain, Barron and the entire crew were amazing. Breakfast offerings were great and lunch was fantastic. The captain’s narrative of the coastline was informative but not too much. We were given plenty of time just to enjoy the ride and scenery. Although I am not a strong swimmer, I felt very comfortable snorkeling with the inflatable vest. The entire trip was one my family enjoyed and it was most definitely a highlight of our trip to Hawaii.

Captain Andy's tour was a must. The weather was extremely dangerous to go down the Na Pali Coast, so they took us the other way, to beautiful Kipo Kai! It was beautiful. Usually the tour takes 49 passengers, and due to inclement weather, only 17 people went. We had the chance to reschedule or get our money back, we decided to go. 17 people! Are you kidding me, we had the boat to ourselves and we got to know Captain Claire and her crew. Akira the chef was absolutely amazing, he needs a raise, our food was perfect. The crew kept us all hydrated. During the tour they practiced a man overboard drill they used an orange life jacket as the victim. That was cool to watch, and life jacket was retrieved. Captain Claire and Izzy, work very well as a team, I don't know if Izzy is 2nd in Command (if she wasn't she will be be one day)! During our tour they put the sail up and that was awesome, Hawaii at its finest! I highly recommend this tour. Worth the money we spent. This crew worked well together, the are a well refined machine.

My husband and I did the full day Na Pali raft experience and it was the highlight of our trip! Nothing can really compare to Na Pali - you can't really take your eyes off of it and it just takes your breath away. Maddy and Kyler were excellent guides! We spotted sea turtles, bottlenose dolphins, and so many fish while we were snorkeling! The sea caves were also beautiful! Lunch was delicious - especially their white chocolate macadamia nut cookies! Kyler in particular gave us cultural deep dive while exploring the ruins on the island which I always enjoy. He and Maddy always made us feel safe during the entire excursion. Best seats on raft is the front but you really have to hold on - I enjoy roller coaster rides so it was great! Pro tip: Be sure you take dramamine and bring ginger chews foffthe ride even if you don't really get motion sickness. Depending on the swell, you or someone else on the boat may need it!
Darlene M — Google review
We did the morning snorkel tour and had an amazing time! They provide everything you need — life vest, snorkel gear, and flippers — you just need to bring your own towel. The snorkel part is a bit short, but that’s understandable given the long distance to the beautiful Nā Pali Coast. If you’re looking to get really nice photos, I’d recommend choosing the afternoon tour for the lighting. The crew was fantastic — super friendly and professional. We also enjoyed a light breakfast and a delicious BBQ lunch on board. We were so lucky to see a whale and two pods of dolphins! Truly an unforgettable experience — highly recommend! 🌊🐋🐬

We loved Captain Andy's. They provide a very Sunset Cruise. Our captain and crew did an outstanding job. IT was fun to watch them work. The meal was filet mignon. It was okay. Obviously prepared somewhere else and then finished on board, BUT it tasted good. The best part was the crew the view of the ocean and the friends we made.
Curtis P — Google review
Fantastic sunset dinner cruise experience! The captain and his crew all did an amazing job keeping us entertained, safe, and informed of what we were seeing. The Na Pali coast was gorgeous from boat level, and we got right up next to the side of the mountain. Food was a four course meal consisting of: Some toasted bread with goat cheese and herbs? Grilled Cajun shrimp. Main meal consisting of either mahi mahi or filet mignon , along with sides. Key lime cheesecake of some sort. All of it was delicious and the steak was cooked pretty well for being prepared in a catamaran kitchen. We saw a whole pod of dolphins that swam next to us as well as plenty of flying fish. Take motion sickness medicine even if not sensitive to motion, the waves on the west Coast are quite wild,at least in November when we went. Only posting a few pictures as you should see the views for yourself!

We took the Star Scenic Tour and thoroughly loved our adventure. The staff members were amazing. Cap'n Barron, Cherry, Chef Mark, Lane to name a few. They all made the trip amazing. Chef Mark cooked some amazing food, Barron piloted the boat like a surgeon. Cherry very kind, helpful and caring. This cruise is the best, very comfortable catamaran and lots of space. Highly recommend this team and the cruise.

The Kauaʻi Coffee Company, located on the sunny South Shore of Kauai, is a must-visit for coffee enthusiasts. As the largest coffee plantation in the United States, it offers self-guided outdoor tours with informative kiosks detailing the coffee growing and roasting process. Visitors can also enjoy free samples of their various beans. The estate features a charming coffee shop overlooking picturesque fields where guests can savor freshly brewed Kauai coffee and delectable pastries.
A bit pricey for the tour ($50 adult) but coffee was outstanding. Many different samples to taste from before buying. Beautiful bougainvillea plants abound. A nice tour between excursions when you want to relax, as it is by the water, and scenery is amazing

Their coffee is to die for. The aroma abounds around you at the Plantation. They also features some great pastries and yummy ice cream! Don't miss tasting all the flavors they have to offer and take home some beans to grind, like we did. Thank you, John & Karen D. (San Marcos, Ca USA)

The best coffee ever!!! We stopped by for vanilla iced coffee every single day that we could. It's that good. We also bought some to take home. The gift shop is very cute as well. The views from the back deck are breathtaking. Can't wait to go back.

Kauai coffee is hands down my favorite coffee in the world! I love visiting their farm and watch how big it has grown over the years! The farm has a cool pathway you can walk through some of the coffee trees and see some of their farm equipment! Very cool! They have a wonderful gift shop, and little museum, coffee tasting, and a place to get food, coffee, and other snacks! It is always a wonderful place to visit! 🤙🤙🤙🤙

Such a quick and fun stop for coffee lovers. I can confidently say our kids would have been bored to tears but my husband and I loved walking the grounds, tasting all of the coffee varieties and of course, spending too much money in the shop. Totally worth it though and they shipped our goodies home for free!

Kauai Coffee is a delicious, scenic, ethical place in the middle of paradise. We loved it so much that we visited twice (and we didn’t even stay on the South side of the island!). The self-guided tour and one-room museum are both worth it, and I highly suggest sampling the various coffee flavors offered at the patio. This is a must-visit for coffee lovers and non-coffee people alike.

This was an amazing visit... because I love coffee (self proclaimed coffee snob). The establishment was very clean, staff was attentive and friendly, the prices were average (but you get it cheaper if you're kama Aina me me me), the coffee samples were FRIKIN awesome. Drink as much as you want. I purchased a $60 bag of bourbon barrel Aged whole bean micro batch coffee ) they don't sell it anywhere but here on kauai). This coffee slaps you in the face with the sweet, smooth, caramel, vanilla, oaky char smell before you even take a sip. The taste is SURREAL. I highly recommend a trip to the Kauai Coffee company on Kauai if you enjoy coffee.

We took the tour and so glad we did! Genny was our guide and Edgar was our driver, and they were awesome! I learned so much about coffee (and I thought I knew a lot before but I had no idea)! One hour tour in an open air vehicle, no walking but you do have to walk up about 4-5 steps to get in (they have have accommodations but I'm not sure), but once you're in sit back and relax (a few bumps but not strenuous). Even my kids (12 and 15) thought it was cool. Beautiful views and loved seeing how my favorite beverage is made! Try the coffee ice cream after (there are other flavors too if you don't like coffee or for kids), and the blended iced coffee was delicious! Get your kids a iced mocha and they'll run back to your hotel all on their own lol!

Spouting Horn is a popular attraction in Poipu, Kauai, known for its dramatic display of nature. This blowhole shoots seawater up to 50 feet in the air with a hissing sound, making it a must-see for visitors. It's important to keep a safe distance from the blowhole to avoid getting hit by the spray and potential bodily harm. The area also features other attractions such as the largest coffee farm in the U.S.
A visit to the Spouting Horn is not to be missed it's beautiful and picturesque here with lovely views of the ocean and the geyser like blowhole in Kauai. It's not the biggest I've seen but it's still nice to see nature at it's finest....I guess it does depend on time of day and see conditions to get the greatest impact of the pounding of waves. Ample parking spaces at parking lot along with clean restrooms, you may also see lots of roosters and chickens here roaming free.

Fabulous attraction in Kauai, a magnificent view of water spouting from lava rocks with a horn sound! Joy to watch nature’s wonderful scene.
Ravi S — Google review
Our flight didn’t leave until 2100 hours so we decided to see a few sights we hadn’t gotten a chance to see and the Spouting Horn was one of them. It wasn’t exactly what we were expecting but it was fun to see. Just so happen a tour bus arrived there the same time we did, so we had to wait to get as close as you can to the spouting horn. But even with the tour bus there were not too many people. You do have to stand on a cement platform with a metal pole fence around it so you can’t get too close to it. There also were public restrooms at the location.
Chris N — Google review
Very cool little spot with great views of the spouting horn blow hole. Really fun to watch and a free activity.

Great view of the ocean and a solid spot for whale watching so bring your binoculars. Also fun seeing/hearing the oceans crash into the horn and creating a rainbow. Plenty of space to sight see and watch the sunset as well. Public restrooms available, and plenty of parking available.

This is a must see if you've got a car you're driving around the islands to see the famous spots waterfalls caves or whatnot. Definitely go though during high tides you can have the best show of the global. Went in the mid-afternoon and we had some pretty good photos we took. Don't forget to look off the right side also for the waves come in it crashes beautifully all night crusted shore. See my photos and videos of both of them.😍🤩

Poipu Beach Park is a perennial favorite, featuring two beaches divided by a sandbar point. The left side offers a sandy-bottom pool protected by a lava-rock jetty, perfect for children, while the right side attracts swimmers, snorkelers, and surfers. The park's 5 1/2-acre area includes picnic shelters, play structures, restrooms, and showers. It is an ideal spot for families with its spacious lawn and palm-dotted surroundings.
This was the most crowded beach we visited, but also had some of the best snorkeling and provided the opportunity to see two sea turtles! There is a nearby surf shop where you can rent snorkels and umbrellas, though the umbrellas are a hot commodity. There is good parking, but being as popular a spot as this is it was always completely full while we were there. Snorkeling is very good with fantastic visibility and great marine diversity. If you're facing towards the ocean, I recommend staying more towards the right side, away from the sandier left side. A good reference point is the buoy. Stay right of that, and you'll have better visibility. Saw loads of fish and eels. Just stay in the bay, and avoid the heavier surf at the bay's mouth. The water does get shallower at the mouth of the bay, and that's where I saw some bigger fish, so it was easy to get tempted out too far. Worth the drive, no matter where you're staying on the island.
Will H — Google review
Lovely beach! Lots of sandy areas, and calm enough to swim and snorkel. If you go out far enough there are some good surfing spots. Lots of turtles and monk seals which are always nice to see, just keep your distance. The beach was pretty crowded and definitely touristy, but it was pretty pleasant overall.
Gabe A — Google review
This is the beach we enjoyed most on Kauai’s South Shore. It has several things to recommend it — a curving beach that is partially protected by a reef, so when the wind is calm, it’s a lovely place both to swim and especially to snorkel. We saw turtles, eels, butterfly fish, parrotfish, Sergeant Majors, and a slew of others. Poipu also has an area where green sea turtles crawl up on the beach to rest each night. A big crowd gathers before sunrise and cheers each time another one emerges from the surf. There are also occasional monk seals that rest here. There are vigilant lifeguards on duty to make sure swimmers and snorkelers are safe. Do be aware that when the wind rises and the surf is rough, being in the water is neither as safe nor as enjoyable. Please listen carefully to lifeguard announcements. There are beachside showers wash off the sand and salt, as well as restrooms.
Marsha R — Google review
Poipu beach was such an incredible experience. We were lucky enough to see a green sea turtle come to the beach and rest. The waves were mild but the rip was on the more intense side. The lifeguards were very attentive and had a megaphone. They were able to communicate concerns to the entire beach.
Madison D — Google review
I counted 20 sea turtles on the beach in front of Brenakke's last night. So cool to see them come onto shore for the evening. Everyone was very respectful.
Carla B — Google review
Come during the day to swim with the turtles, come at night to see them sleeping on the beach! During our time here we were able to see so many turtles and even a couple monk seals! Even if you only have a couple hours, bring your snorkel gear and jump in!
Taryn N — Google review
The beach is nice and spacious, with a parking lot and some restaurants nearby. Behind the beach, there are picnic tables, a kids’ park, and restrooms. At sunset, turtles come ashore, and you can see them—it’s a beautiful sight.

Very busy beach. Snorkeling was ok with lots of fish and sea turtles. The current was very strong in October, which made it difficult to peacefully enjoy swimming.
