Nestled on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Getty Villa is an architectural marvel inspired by a 1st-century Italian villa. This museum in Malibu, designed by Richard Meier, boasts classical architecture and serene gardens. It houses an impressive collection of Greek and Roman antiquities, including marble statues, mosaic floors, and Etruscan artwork. Visitors can explore replicas of ancient Roman architecture and admire artifacts such as frescoes from Pompeii and a bronze statue of an athlete.
This is a magnificent space and worth the trip. The gardens are beautiful and the exhibits are spectacular. It is said that there his is the most richly endowed museum in earth and it shows. It is immaculate and extraordinarily well maintained. It would be easy to spend hours upon hours exploring the artwork, artifacts, and the grounds. This is a can’t-miss experience.
Pamela B — Google review
This is my first time visiting this beautiful museum. I'm happy they protected the museum from the recent wild fire. The artifacts were in exceptional condition. I think next time I attend a group or semi private tour. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. This is a place to relax outside and walk into the museum at your own leisure. It is so serene with the view of the Pacific Ocean in the background.
Steve U — Google review
This place is unreal. The setting along PCH just east of Malibu close to the ocean is amazing. Went late September on a Thursday. Got there at 10 AM as they were opening and stayed a little over 1.5 hours. Parking was easy and $25. Admission is free so the overpriced parking didnt feel that bad. The museum is excellent and has lots of good Greek and Roman paintings, sculptures, and other artifacts. Had an Egyptian exhibit while I was there that was nice as well. But where this place shines IMO is in the building and the gardens. Impressive replica of an ancient Roman palace. So many details done right from the courtyards to the gardens to the galleries to the fountains. All amongst the back drop of the Pacific Ocean. Absolutely incredible. I didn't want to leave! Went to the Getty as well and thought this was even better, which speaks highly of this place. Was less crowded when I went compared to the Getty Center (went to both on same day).
Jimmer W — Google review
I first visited the Getty Villa back when it was called the J. Paul Getty Museum, during my freshman year of college. What struck me most was how it felt—like stepping into a wealthy person’s private home rather than a typical museum. The antiquities were displayed in this gorgeous villa setting with gardens and marble halls, all located on the Malibu cliffs. It had this eccentric quality that reflected J. Paul Getty’s personal vision and made ancient artifacts feel completely at home. Coming back decades later, I’m impressed by how they’ve improved the place while keeping that special atmosphere intact. The renovation back in the early 2000’s brought all the modern museum conveniences—better signage, clearer organization, smarter educational materials—without losing the villa’s charm. They’ve also made it more resilient against Malibu’s wildfire threats after the Palisades fire in early 2025. The best part is that it still has that quality where you feel like you’re actually in a different time, just with better amenities and a more thoughtful presentation. If you haven't been there since 2005, I would recommend you going back to see the differences and enjoy the fresh Malibu air. Bring others in your family to enjoy too.

The Getty Villa: An Ancient Roman Escape in Malibu The Getty Villa is arguably one of the most uniquely themed museums in the world. It is the perfect destination for anyone interested in Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities, but the main draw for many visitors is the stunning environment itself. Modeled after the ancient Roman Villa dei Papiri in Herculaneum, the property transports you straight to the sun-drenched shores of the Mediterranean. The Architectural Experience (5/5 Stars) The architecture is the undisputed star of the show. The sprawling villa features magnificent courtyards, stunning mosaics, frescoes, and reflective pools that perfectly capture the essence of a first-century Roman estate. Walking through the Outer Peristyle with its 300-foot-long pool, surrounded by meticulously maintained gardens and bronze statues, is an experience in pure escapism. It’s hard to remember you are just off the Pacific Coast Highway in Los Angeles. While some critics view the detailed recreation as leaning toward "theme park," the sheer beauty and atmospheric quality of the design are compelling. The architecture is a powerful educational tool that provides context for the art housed within. The Collection and Exhibits (4/5 Stars) The collection is specialized, focusing exclusively on ancient Greek, Roman, and Etruscan art dating from 6,500 BC to AD 400. While the collection may not be as expansive as the world’s largest art institutions, its intimate focus allows for a deeper appreciation of the works. Highlights include beautiful black and red-figure vases, intricate jewelry, everyday household wares, and, most famously, a highly debated statue known as the Getty Kouros. The way the galleries are designed—often using natural light—allows the antiquities to be viewed beautifully, providing an immediate connection to the past. Gardens and Amenities The four distinct gardens—each styled after a different ancient Roman prototype—are delightful, offering tranquility and gorgeous photo opportunities. The Herb Garden is particularly fragrant and well-labeled. The museum is very visitor-friendly. General admission is always free (though a timed reservation is required), and the café offers reasonably priced and fresh food with a spectacular view of the amphitheater. The staff is knowledgeable and available for guided tours, which are highly recommended for understanding the context of the architecture and the art. Final Verdict The Getty Villa is more than a museum; it’s a beautifully realized piece of immersive architecture. It is an essential visit for anyone in the Los Angeles area, particularly those who appreciate ancient history, stunning views, and architectural grandeur. Plan to spend as much time outdoors enjoying the gardens and courtyards as you do inside the galleries. Tip: Book your free tickets well in advance, especially during peak season, and don't forget that parking requires a fee.
Shahrukh — Google review
Visiting the Getty Villa is like stepping into another era—the museum perfectly captures the elegance and grandeur of ancient Rome and Greece. Every gallery is a treasure trove of meticulously preserved artifacts, from intricate sculptures to everyday objects that bring the ancient world to life. The attention to detail in both the collections and the villa itself makes the experience immersive and unforgettable. Walking through the gardens, surrounded by classical architecture and stunning ocean views, adds another layer of awe. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, an art lover, or simply curious, the Getty Villa offers a journey through antiquity that feels both intimate and monumental. Truly one of the finest museums for experiencing the beauty and sophistication of ancient civilizations.
Theo A — Google review
The Getty Villa in Santa Monica is one of the better day-adventures we have done in the greater Los Angeles area. The cafe has good Mediterranean food at a decent price (yes, they have beer and wine, too), and the photo opportunities here were endless! If you dig ancient history, architecture, and relaxing environments, this is should be on your bucket list.

I came to this museum during an unplanned short trip. You can reserve your visit date and time on the museum's website and get a free ticket. I went by car, so the only cost was parking. It was a very charming and cute museum. I enjoyed the sculptures and paintings, and the beautiful, carefully-decorated courtyard was amazing. It's also a great place to stop by and relax after enjoying Malibu Beach.

The Skirball Cultural Center, located near the Sepulveda Pass, is a contemporary facility that offers a wide range of exhibits and educational programs focused on Jewish culture, history, and heritage. The center features one of the world's largest collections of Jewish ceremonial art and ritual objects, including nearly 25,000 pieces from ancient to contemporary times. Fun place for the kids to explore while there are exhibits that cater to adults. The Ark exhibit requires a timed-entry reservation (90 mins). Kids spent so much time exploring and playing in the Ark. The family art station has a new craft for your children to make/color/decorate. Parking is free.

Great experience from all staff members throughout the center Had the pleasure of seeing the Jack Kirby’s work! Delve into the six-decade career of legendary comic book artist Jack Kirby (1917–1994). This exhibition goes beyond the page, featuring original comic illustrations, fine art, and commercial art—many on view for the first time—and his experiences as a first-generation Jewish American whose faith remained important throughout his life.

My daughter, husband and I loved the Noah's Ark Exhibition. We also took part in their story time and art class. Thursdays are free and tend to get booked right away so try reserving tickets right away at the beginning of each month!

I just moved to Los Angeles and became a member of Skirball right away. Parking is good, it’s clean and refreshing. I saw an exhibit last year of Maurice Sendak which was wonderful, and wandered through other exhibits. I am taking an adult Ed class and plan to enroll for others.

Malibu Pier, an iconic structure dating back to 1905, is located next to the beach and offers a variety of attractions. The area has historical significance, with evidence of Chumash settlement dating back 7000 years. The pier's proximity to Los Angeles studios has made it a popular filming location for movies, TV shows, and music videos. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk along the pier while taking in views of the cliffs and luxurious homes.
Super rad place. Parking is tough depending on the season and time if day. The parking lots close after sunset i think, so assure your vehicle is moved should you park there. Surf is usually pretty clean. Lots of large rocks, so use caution. On higher tides you are able to skimboard there, which is super dope. Usually pretty packed with beach goers and surfers. But still a great and welcoming vibe. Don't forget to take all your trash off the beach when you're done!

Beautiful iconic malibu pier. It was very beautiful quiet, peaceful. We enjoyed amazing sunset. I wouldn't recommend anyone on wheelchair, walker or anyone on high heel because pier floor is not even. We witnessed one lady fell and broke her frant tooth. So very carefully.
Sophia R — Google review
Iconic spot in Malibu. We walked the pier and then along the shoreline. We watched all the surfers try to catch some waves. I is a beautiful way to spend an evening. We did see some of the carnage from the wildfires driving to the pier but its been cleaned up well for the most part.
END A — Google review
Good to walk on out to see the beach activity, the wooden walk is kind of bumpy. When I walked there the 2 restaurants at the end of the pier were closed. There were a lot of fishing along the pier but no activity. I did not know they caught any. But it is nice sunny and breezy and nice views.
Somkietr R — Google review
It's only been a little over six months since the wildfires in January 2025, but the sight of burned houses in Malibu was heartbreaking, in stark contrast to the beautiful ocean. I hope that one day, homes will be built where everyone can live in peace, just like the beautiful ocean. Many surfers and families were enjoying the summer at the beautiful Malibu Beach. With uniformly high waves, it must be a recommended spot for surfers. There was also a delicious restaurant at the pier, so we enjoyed the beautiful ocean and a meal
T M — Google review
I went there on Sunday 7/27/25 afternoon. Pier was not full and restaurants were open but not the one at the very end. There was a sign saying there will be a live music session next weekend. There was a significant line of people waiting to be seated on the patio at the Malibu Farm Restaurant. I haven’t tried the food there but seeing people waiting makes me want to eat there for sure. You can fish from the pier and the views are amazing. No cover to walk on the pier.
Ricardo R — Google review
Always beautiful. Malibu Farm Cafe has great coffee plus if you buy something you can use the bathroom and not have to use the disgusting public bathroom in the lot. It is also $15 to park in the lot though.

Point Dume is a serene coastal area in Malibu, offering picturesque trails and rocky coves with stunning views of Santa Catalina Island. The Koenig Beach House, an architectural gem by renowned architect Pierre Koenig, sits on Lechuza Point and provides breathtaking ocean and coastline views. This eco-friendly home features walls of glass for abundant natural light, seamless indoor-outdoor living spaces, an oversized spa with ocean views, and solar-powered smart home technology.
I visited this area many years ago and although a lot has changed in Malibu, I love this park. The park is very well preserved and maintained and the views are stunning. The only issue is the parking is very limited and I am not sure how well others follow the two hour parking time limit but since there were two of us we were able to takes turns and not use the on-site parking. I highly recommend and recommend going early to beat the crowd😁
Scott B — Google review
We arrived at Point Dume parking lot at 7:30 pm, plenty of parking spaces available, paid $3 at the prepaid ticket paying station. There were a lot of photo shootings right at the cliffs, the sunset was beautiful and unforgettable, we even saw some whales passing by. It took us about 10 minutes easy hike to get on top of the cliff. WOW! The panorama of the pacific ocean and the sunset was the best I have ever seen, come experience it yourself!
Yan Z — Google review
What a great experience.I went there thinking small it ended up being big. I got some great pictures of the surfers.Be prepared to walk down and up a lot of stairs. After that I took the little hike. And got to see a bunch of seals. That was a surprise. Then Just on the other side was a public beach. It was really nice.I was able to sit on the cliff and just people watch for a little.
Jamie O — Google review
A go to place for a unique and pleasant walk in one of Southern California's treasures. The parking sucks, very limited, and there are time restrictions, but you can get lucky much of the time. The loop trail is very scenic but not too strenuous, and you can take in the whole sight seeing experience within the time constraints of the parking limits. I highly recommend...
John P — Google review
This is a very short but beautiful hike. The hardest part is actually getting a parking spot. The hike takes no longer than a half hour out and back. The views at the top of Point Dume and along the trail are outstanding!
A R — Google review
One of my favorite parts of Malibu. I sat at the top of one of the cliffs for an hour or so and saw a sea lion calling and sunbathing on a rock, two dolphins, and what looked to be orcas jumping off in the distance. Beautiful views, I highly suggest coming. Not really safe for young children though, because parts are just straight down without fencing or anything. For parking, you probably won't find space at the top, but just go to westward beach, its just $8 at modern parking when I went, then head south to the end of the beach and you can hike point dume from the bottom, which I highly suggest.
Valerie W — Google review
Great beach with fantastic views. Likely to be less crowded during the day, especially on weekdays. Make sure to catch the sunset from here. This is a wonderful and romantic spot.
Klaus — Google review
Amazing idea for a date or trip with the family! Definitely enjoyed my trip with my girlfriend, enjoyed it overall and had a great time especially if you wonder just a little behind the security wires going right from the overlook you come across a trail although make sure to watch your step. But you are rewarded with a nice view of the ocean!! Although parking is very poor.. I would recommend parking in the street, as people who end up parking on handicap or just on the curb illegally may face a ticket, the volunteer sheriffs patrol. I got there on Monday around 3pm left around 5pm and swung back and saw the sheriff taking pictures of plates of illegally parked vehicles at 5:30ish pm. Although I would recommend parking wherever you can find a parking, but take that at your own risk!

Free parking can be hard to find. The only option for free parking is on the street, and you’ll likely need to arrive outside of peak hours to secure a spot. The beach itself is clean, less crowded, and generally peaceful—especially compared to Santa Monica. Public restrooms are available, but there are no public washing areas. Be prepared to share the beach with plenty of seagulls, which are a common sight here.

Beautiful 1.8mi sandy beach with tons of street parking and a huge lot. There are showers in some spots. Great views of the coast and mountains.

We spent Father’s Day at Zuma Beach with friends, and it couldn’t have been better. Clean sand, beautiful views, and plenty of space to spread out even on a busy day. The water was perfect for wading and boogie boarding, and the lifeguards were super attentive. Parking was easy and close to the sand, which made hauling gear and coolers a breeze. Just an all-around perfect SoCal beach day. Highly recommend Zuma for families, friend groups, or anyone looking to enjoy the coast.
Lonney G — Google review
It's been a while since I visited Zuma Beach, and the atmosphere is a bit calmer than other places.
Dessert ( — Google review
After many years in California, Zuma Beach still tops my son and I list of favorite surf spots — best enjoyed off-peak, of course: Monday to Friday, outside holidays, and early mornings before the crowds wake up. This is Malibu at its purest — long golden stretches of sand, clean waves, and that endless Pacific view that makes weekday emails feel like a bad dream. Surf’s great midweek when it’s mostly locals and dolphins sharing the lineup. Yes, it’s definitely not rare to surf among dolphins, great and unforgettable experience that you never get bored of. Weekends? A bit of a scene — come early or embrace the parking safari. Personally I avoid it as much as I can, if I can. Pro tip: pack snacks, wax up, and stick around long enough to watch the sun turn the whole beach into liquid gold

My favourite beach in LA. Clean and quiet. In non-seasonal time parking just $3 instead $18 of summer time. Fresh air and great sunset is great spot to relax.

Gorgeous sunset with a peaceful, calming view of the ocean and waves, soft light and cool breeze. Bring a light jacket if you plan to visit near dusk/sundown, the temperatures can drop around that time even in the summer. Parking can be found on 7301 Westward Beach Rd.

The Nethercutt Museum is a remarkable collection of vintage automobiles, antique furniture, and mechanical musical instruments. Founded by J.B. Nethercutt in 1971, the museum showcases over 250 American and European classic cars dating from 1898 to 1997. The collection includes vehicles from various eras such as Antique, Vintage, Classic, and Post-War periods.
The collection at this museum is pretty impressive! My visit to the Nethercutt Museum exceeded my expectations. The place was immaculate and the staff were all very pleasant. It cost $5 for entry and it was worth it. We just happened to get there about a ½ hour before the Steam Locomotive Train tour and it was a sight to see. The Gentleman who ran the tour was very knowledgeable. You can even Ring the bell... pull hard! Enjoy!
Joshua S — Google review
An absolutely unique place that is a must-see. In addition to the main exhibition for $5, it is better to buy tickets for $20 and see the second part of the exhibition, which is located right across the street. Everything is much more interesting there, since in addition to absolutely unique cars, you can see and hear musical rarities more than 100 years old in action. It is useless to look at photographs - places like this need to be seen with your own eyes
Anton B — Google review
I did not know what to expect but The Nethercutt Collection was absolutely positively gorgeous and well worth visiting. The automobiles were overwhelmingly beautiful and jaw-dropping in their uniqueness. The music section was unbelievably impressive. I can't wait to go again.

Such a fun experience, you can be in and out of there in well under an hour if you're looking for a quick family activity and are in the area. They have a wonderful collection of cars and the train is pretty awesome. Great for just $5 and kids 12 and under are free.

If you’re into cars, music, or history of America’s early 20th century, this museum is a must. If you can, do the Nethercutt Collection tour and go during the day where they let you see the train.

If you appreciate vintage cars, this is the place to go. With the guided tour, you're allowed to get up close (but don't touch!) both domestic and foreign cars from the early 1900s to the 1970s. The Bugatti was gorgeous. Well worth the $20 tour fee to see these preserved cars, and learn some local history.

A true hidden gem in California. The Nethercutt Museum is pure class from top to bottom history, craftsmanship, and preservation done right. Preface: even if you have no interest in aircrafts, this is not to be missed. The Blackbird is a miracle of 1960s engineering, design and stealth. An amazing achievement. The museum has the very first and the very last Blackbird that ever flew, and it's the only place in the world where there are 2 of them. The guide, Bob, a retired Blackbird mechanic, is so friendly and knowledgeable. There is also a nice gift shop with quality merch. There are also many other famous military aircrafts, but the Blackbird is the star. The admission is free, donations welcome. There is a lot of parking and clean restrooms.

This was an amazing experience. Both Blackbird Airpark, and the adjacent air museum were excellent. I very much enjoyed the staffs time and the presentation of such marvels of engineering history. If you know anything of the history of Clarence “Kelly” Johnson or Ben Rich it is a must see destination, with some interesting white sheds in the distance 🦨🦨🦨

Blackbird Airpark in Palmdale California is a beautiful site. We visited on a day when it was closed…it’s only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday…but we were able to walk around the outside fence and still get a nice look at the collection of aircraft history. Loved seeing two SR-71 Blackbirds next to each other along with U2 Dragon lady version. They have. 747 on the end of the park that NASA used to fly the space shuttles. Super cool to see in person! Lockheed Martin Skunkworks is located just down the road on Sierra Hwy as well. The town created some amazing aircraft just outside of Edwards Air Force Base. Be sure to give it a visit sometime!

Vasquez Rocks Natural Area and Nature Center

Park
Nature & Parks
Geologic Formations
This scenic park with prehistoric rock formations has been the backdrop for many movies & TV shows.
Beautiful park for a hike. Wide variety of trails of different levels of difficulty. Trails are all well marked and there are maps all around the park so almost no way to get lost. Easy to spend the better part of a day just in the park experiencing the different areas and viewpoints. The visitor's center was full of informative displays (historical, natural, etc) and the onsite staff were very knowledgeable. Restrooms were clean and well maintained. Plenty of parking, either by the entrance or closer to the rocks.

Awesome hiking experience! There's a learning center there, picnic tables, and loads of rocks to climb on for the more adventurous types! My partner and I enjoy taking our two dogs on a nice hike and have lunch there. It's great for all ages, dogs, and we've seen horses on the trails, too! Definitely check it out. We live about 40 minutes north, but we've been several times since moving to SoCal. We'll be back again for sure 😁👍

We were visiting the area and read about this place as a must see. It is a hidden gem with unique rock formations and has good hiking trails. We learned that several movies were filmed here. The Star Trek Historic Film Site was dramatic.

Oh and there's a water station inside the center if your out there are posted heat warnings that say limited shade but there's plenty of rock formations you can cool down underneath if need be bring sunblock my fine friends and happy exploring!

Brought the family here and the kids loved being able to see the lizards running running around in thier homes when we first came in. I have been to Vasquez many times but never saw the visitor center. When I first came in the center was really nice on the inside better than I expected it to be and they showed the different types of animals and history of animals and past indigenous peoples that had lived within the area. The associates they're really nice and even took us to another room where they showed us a wolf and eagle taxidermies as well as tools that were used of the indigenous peoples during their time. Though I do wish there was more history on Vazquez and his posse during those times. Besides that we loved climbing the Rocks there and seeing art inscribed in those rocks from past indigenous people, really enjoyed our experience of being there.

I’ve lived in LA for 26 years and just visited Vasquez Rocks. It’s worth the drive to check out. Lots of hikes to choose from of varying difficulty levels, or you can just wander amongst the rock formations. Definitely check out the nature center too. It’s fun to see how many tv shows and movies were shot there. I’ll be going more often now that I know it exists!

A Hidden Gem in the Desert An absolute must-see! Stunning rock formations and a breathtaking landscape — it almost feels purposefully designed. Be sure to wear long pants and bring a hat! It gets hot, and you might encounter snakes or other fascinating creatures. The visitor center is small but well-curated, and you can learn a lot about the area’s history. Parking is free.

Great park. Close to freeway access (4 mins from the 14). It has different trails. Make sure to bring water because shaded areas are scarce. You’ll see beautiful rock formations. it’s a wonderful landscape for the geologist, hiker, student, learner, etc

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, located in Simi Valley, is a captivating historic destination offering stunning exhibits and breathtaking views. Visitors can explore the 243,000 square foot facility which includes displays on President Reagan's life and his time in office. The museum features a retired Air Force One aircraft, a replica of the Oval Office, and numerous artifacts from Reagan's presidency. Additionally, it serves as the final resting place for President Reagan and former First Lady Nancy Reagan.
Been here twice. Neat that they have the air force one plane and helicopter in the museum. Lots of facts about the presidency under Ronald Reagan. Special exhibits that get changed out regularly. Once was an exhibit on the Dead Sea scrolls (recently) and last year on “Star Wars”. Both very interesting. Would highly recommend for museum and history buffs and nerds! Bring your own food. Kind of not a lot of choice and over priced food inside. They have a complimentary shuttle that can shuttle you from parking area to the front door. Also, if you pay a little more, you can go back to any or the presidential libraries for up to one year.

I recently had a rare and wonderful opportunity to visit this inspiring and educational site with two good friends What an incredible place! The library is tucked back into the hills of Simi Valley with breathtaking views of beautiful Eastern Ventura County. Upon entering the premises of the Ronald Reagan Library, I had the special opportunity to view the Scrolls. Very informative and educational . The docents and the staff at the Library did an incredible job of making me feel welcomed. The Library is also a tribute to a wonderful and great human being, Ronald Reagan. There is a large gift shop as well as a cafeteria that has a pretty good selection of burgers, pizzas and salad. I had a delicious hamburger outside and had the wonderful opportunity to dine outside overlooking the hills of Eastern Ventura County. If you ever have a chance to visit the Ronald Reagan Library, please do, you won’t regret it.

What an amazing experience! We came specifically for the Deas Sea Scroll exhibit while it was here. And it did not disappoint. But for that matter the all of the exhibits throughout the facility we're great. Getting to walk through the Air Force 1 display was pretty cool. I would absolutely recommend a visit!

I am glad I bought the year long pass & I recommend it to anyone that can make the visit twice or that plans a visit to any of the other Presidential libraries. My first trip here was mostly visiting their temporary exhibit but I plan to make another trip this month. I love how the exhibits are set up in different rooms and it is like walking through a timeliness of Reagans life. Getting the opportunity to walk onto Airforce One was a highlight of this trip. Make sure your phone is charged if you take a lot of pictures. 😀

First visit and the experience was amazing in several different ways. The extensive exhibits on the life of the president and the political moments during his terms in office are thorough and well documented. Since it is his presidential library, there are very few references to negative decisions made during his years in office including long term effects of economic decisions. The aircraft exhibits for Air Force One are stunning and the tour of the aircraft is excellent, although I found the design of that portion of the exhibit space to be confusing and difficult to find the exit path from the bottom level of the aircraft exhibits.

Never been to a presidential library before. Learned about a former president. Walked through Air Force One and Marine One. Experienced history in the best way. Do something different and go see a presidential library if there is one near you.

While visiting LA this was a must visit. We spent close to 3 hours and could have spent even more. Make sure to bring your Presidential passport to get it stamped. Wonderful place and really honors the legacy of in my opinion one of the best presidents ever.

Such a beautiful library with great exhibits (Dead Sea Scrolls now through beginning of Sept 2025)! Amazing scenery! My favorite is the Oval Office and Air Force One. Extremely friendly and helpful staff and docents as well! There’s a reason why this is the most visited presidential library - a real must-see!!!!

Underwood Family Farms, located in Moorpark just north of Thousand Oaks, is a working farm that offers the unique experience of picking your own produce and interacting with animals like baby goats and rabbits. The farm provides an abundance of fresh year-round produce for visitors to enjoy under the California sun. Families can also take part in activities such as the relaxing bumblebee ride, tractor slide, and riding tricycles.
It’s a wonderful farm! We enjoyed it from the very first minute. The “pick your own” experience was fantastic—everything was fresh, flavorful, and easy to access. The farm is beautifully maintained and full of charm, making it a perfect outing for all ages. There were also plenty of fun activities for kids, friendly staff, and an overall welcoming atmosphere. We can’t wait to come back for another visit!
Anastasiia Y — Google review
We had an amazing time here! It’s a bit pricey but there is so much to do during the Fall harvest. This is a “spend the whole day” type of place, so I recommend coming prepared. You have to buy tickets to play games and see the animal up close, and that added up quickly in cost for a 3 families and 1 child. However, the tickets never expire and we were told you can use them year round. They still had really fun games that even us adults got into. The best part for us was the pumpkin patch and all the different kind of pumpkins. We would definitely come back.
Angie G — Google review
Honestly, very fun. It was different and first time visiting a pumpkin patch farm. Great activities. I would recommend. I did feel a bit out of place by some staff, when we were in line to get in, or buying tickets, or to play games. In many places it appeared that they wanted to care for other families before us even if we made eye contact. To say the least we were next in line and staff preferred to help people who came or were after us. I’m not going to let that be my overall experience. Maybe they were just overwhelmed? I do suggest to check it out, other staff went out of their way to make you feel welcomed !

Underwood Family Ranch is my favorite place — truly one of the best spots for families! There’s so much fun for kids, with plenty of activities that keep them entertained for hours. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is lively, cheerful, and perfect for a family day out. If you visit on festival days, be prepared to spend around $100 per child for entrance, food, and activities, but honestly, it’s absolutely worth it. The experience, the memories, and the joy on the kids’ faces make it special every time. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun and festive family outing!
Anna V — Google review
Entry was $36 per person. We are a family of four, that’s $144 just to get in. Insane. Nothing comes with entry. You get nickel and dimed for everything once inside. The food is absolutely disgusting — $8 for fries, $9 for canned cheese & chips, and $9 for ice and syrup (yes, that’s what they call a drink). No workers wearing hats or hair nets, which is pretty concerning for a place serving food. And the porta potties were insanely disgusting, while the portable sinks had no water for hours, so you couldn’t even wash your hands. 🤮 Completely unacceptable for a place that’s supposed to be family-friendly. Once you’re inside, you find out you need tickets for almost every attraction — feeding ducks, riding the train around the farm, or other activities. Tickets are $1 each, and most attractions like face painting require 20 tickets = $20. Even the pumpkins are overpriced, some going for as much as $50 🤯. And get this you can pick your own flowers, fruits or veggies, but they don’t tell you how much it costs until you leave. 👀 This place is robbing people blind. It’s not something the average family can afford, and for that reason, I would NOT recommend nor return.
Robert H — Google review
I love this farm this will be my 3rd year in a row but you should know even if you go on a Friday because it’s not the weekend like half the things are closed to do. The corn maze was closed the scarecrow and pumpkin painting was closed there was only one option for food and it was the most basic turkey sandwiches half of their menu wasn’t available either. They had no nacho cheese so no nachos at all no espresso and no cucumber lemonade. Just be prepared that unless it’s the weekend it will be slow and most things closed. It’s 10/17/25 so it’s not like Halloween is that far away either. These attractions should be open for a Friday. The tickets are slightly cheaper during the week but it only addresses shows like pig races and live performances are weekends only on their website. It didn’t say anything about the painting being closed, jumpers for kids are closed and all the food vendors not being open. I understand the corn maze for safety reasons apparently but it was a bummer after not being able to paint pumpkins or really eat anything. All in all I would still return but on the weekend.
Dee J — Google review
Great little farm. Lots of different activities for the kiddos to enjoy. Some activities need to tickets to enter but they are reasonable. Pig races and live shows are always fun. Good variety of pumpkins available to purchase. Plenty of parking which is a plus. Highly recommended.
Cecilia E — Google review
Always a great time here. The people are friendly, the pricing is fair and if you don’t use all your tickets you can spend them on the next holiday trip! They have a lot of options for produce to choose from as well as tons of you pick options that may be less available but just as fresh.

Hurricane Harbor Los Angeles is a seasonal water park open from June to September, located just 30 minutes north of downtown Los Angeles. It offers a variety of attractions including steep slides, a lazy river, wave pool, and kids' area. The park is part of the larger Six Flags Magic Mountain complex in Santa Clarita, which provides year-round fun and entertainment for visitors.
I can't believe I live 20 minutes away from Six Flags. Oh well, I had an incredible time at Hurricane Harbor! The park was clean, well-organized, and energetic from the moment we walked in. The staff was friendly and helpful, and lifeguards were visible and attentive throughout the day, which made me feel safe while still having a blast. The water rides were a perfect mix of thrills and relaxation. The Black ride gave us the adrenaline rush we were looking for, while Lazy River and Wave Pool were ideal for just kicking back. Even on a hot day, the lines moved faster than expected, and there were plenty of shaded spots to cool down between attractions. The sandwich we bought from Cowabunga Grill was cold, dry, and surprisingly expensive! It cost $43 for two sandwiches with classic chips, bags, and one cup of lemonade. Red Eye's Kitchen has more varieties of food, but the waiting line was long. Then, the locker is expensive too, with a minimum price of $16 You have to pay to rent tubes. I think they should have them free for their members. Everything there is just money, money, money! Parking was easy, and the whole experience was family-friendly but fun for adults.

We had a great time at Hurricane Harbor! The park was clean and well maintained, and all the staff we interacted with were really friendly and helpful. There were lots of water attractions for all ages, and our favorite was the Lazy River (aka “River Cruise”) such a relaxing way to cool down! We went on a weekday, so it wasn’t too busy, which was perfect! It made everything more enjoyable with shorter lines and plenty of space to relax. A fun and refreshing day trip for the whole family. Highly recommended if you’re looking to enjoy some water fun in the sun!

Water and facilities are clean and well organized, maintained park! Love this place as 35year old adult too ! But the line of restaurant is kind of long and takes a lot of time to get terriyaki sandwitch. Love parking shade too! Shower room is also new. Love everything!

We had an awesome time at Hurricane Harbor LA. The facility was really clean, had a ton of seating options with shade for those hot summer days and a lot of different attractions that kept busy from open until close. The unlimited drinks option was fantastic as we were there all day and it was hot. My only complaint is the food prices and lack of options. Other than that I would highly recommend this place!
Miranda — Google review
Oh, queues! They’re not my thing, especially when it’s hot like it was at the end of June. Hurricane was packed, and the queues were everywhere. If you want to slide down, you’ll spend ages getting up. Are you hungry? Sure, but what’s the point of staying in a queue for over an hour in a scorching summer? In total, you’ll spend half your time in the queues. Now, let’s compare this to some European aquaparks. They measure the time spent in queues in minutes. I wonder if they could suggest to the architects of these parks that customers who spend hours in queues only pay once. But they could also charge more if they had the option to buy a meal. Why aren’t there more food stands or windows to grab a bite? I’d happily spend tens of dollars more if I had that choice.
Jan M — Google review
I came down from the Sacramento area to check out Hurricane Harbor as a Gold Season Pass member. I liked the amount of slides in the park, the lazy river, and the wave pull. However, it was shocking to see how few free inter-tubes the park had available at their rides. In order to shorten wait time in lines, by hours, and enjoy all of the rides before the park closes (6pm) you would almost have to rent one. For a single inter tube it is $18 and for a double, $25. Those prices are outrageous to me, so I opted not to do so. This left me only being able to enjoy the lazy river and the wave pool. Feels like a waste of time to travel from so far to check this place out.
Leaving C — Google review
The early you go, better the experience because of less wait time 😀 dead drop ride is my most favorite ride!!
Geetha R — Google review
-The lines for the slides were long due to slow employees. They had 1 employee managing 3 slides and if the next 3 people all wanted to ride the same slide they would just send 1 at a time and no one on the other 2 slides, instead of asking others in the line if they wanted to go down the other slides. I ended up doing the job for them and asked the others behind me if anyone wanted to go on the other open slides, there was always someone who wanted to go. All they needed to do is ask! -They were also slow because they would take way too long before sending the next set of people. The people at the bottom of the slide were long gone before they sent another person down. -Even the people in the food court were slow. It took me 50 minutes before I made it to the front and I was on a short line. -In 4.5 hours we got on 3 slides, we were done waiting after that and went home. The slides were fun, but not worth the wait. -My suggestions to management is to train their employees better!!! Make them more efficient at their jobs so people can enjoy their time there better!

Six Flags Magic Mountain is a well-known amusement park with a variety of modern roller coasters and rides suitable for young children. Located just 30 minutes north of downtown Los Angeles, it offers year-round fun and abundant sunshine. The park is home to world record-breaking roller coasters such as Twisted Colossus, The Riddler's Revenge, and X2. Visitors can enjoy scenic views from the hilly terrain while experiencing thrilling rides.
Amazing park. So many fun coasters and rides to choose from. The themes of the rides are phenomenal and match perfectly with the park. The food is great and I recommend buying the day pass and the refillable water bottle, especially on the warmer days. The funnel cake at the entrance is to die for. Definitely one of the best, if not the best, funnel cakes I've ever had. Depending on the day and time, some rides may be an hour or more wait time. However, during the first couple hours after the park opens and before it closes, the ride times go down exponentially.
Abby W — Google review
My daughter and I went for fright night. The staff was amazing and we enjoyed watching them scare. 2 of the rides we were waiting for broke down so the wait times were pretty long. I was also recommend being careful when you purchase a meal deal. This is yhe second time I've had an issue with it. It included a meal, drink, and snack. We usually get the snack first earlier in the day then go back for dinner. 2x now the staff marked the wrong item and tried to say we used the meal when we had only used the snacks. They did still end up giving them to us but it was a hassle both times.

Great place to go, they open 10.30am and close at 9 but you can hang out a bit more after that. The Flash pass is an amazing upgrade once you get a hang of it, we saved more than 3 hours of wait time! Truly recommend it! You have burgers, pizza, sandwich, chicken tenders and more! All that we tried was delicious! Rides we Amazing specially X2 and Colossus!

Best park I have ever been to. I got to race a car and then got my spine broken on a wooden coaster right after. Then I failed the riddlers riddle so I had to stand up on his ride then I wondered why the train wont stop on Wonder Women (seriously guys like, it dosent even stop at the loading station so you have to jump in and hope you lock in in time) but I rode it like 6 or 7 times anyways. Then Batman turned me upside down and in the procces I got kidnapped by Lex Luther and got dropped from 400 feet onto the biggest pendulum ride in the world. As I stumbled away I suddendly got a green cup that let me get a free refill. Idk what that ment so I stepped onto a orange coaster because I thought there would be some Fanta there but instead it made me Scream on Scream. After that I tried something else that was orange and instead got strapped onto a ride that used to hold the title for worlds tallest ride and into a tunnel on Goliath. Ready to give up hope I sit in a nice green colored seat... only to race a blue coaster train in Teisted Collosis. When I thought the ride was over it faked me out and went for a 2nd loop around the track. Then I spotted a coaster with a loop and I remembered something, "This is a great begginer coaster called the New Revolution, to get a good warmup in you should ride this ride to eliminate the fear of hights" (Random Youtuber). So I step on and instead i get a launch at 80 mph while hearing "Wait I forgot the shoulder straps" and got put into the worlds highest top hat loop on Full Throttle. I later found out what a top hat loop was when i went on top of the loop into a near vertical 160 ft drop at the end. By then I found a cool red coaster called Viper, after mistaking it for a Coca Cola (its an honest mistake anyone can make) I broke my neck in 12 deffrent locations (please dont ride it it will hurt, goos layout though a refurbishment would be great for it) It started to get dark so I got into line for something called Tangy since I thought it was a food center for tangy foods. Instead I got on a ride where I hung allmost 200ft above the air and went on the worlds biggest pretsal loop. Then I thought I found the exit. But then I got strapped into a ride. After all the rides I went on that day I knew this cant be much worse. My first tip off that it was worse was when the train started to move backwards out the station. After reaching the peak at around 200ft I go on the first drop backwards. After screaming my lungs out the train bobs up and turns out that was a 10 ft dip. Then music starts playing and I fall backwards at 200 ft while doing a backflip at a 90° straight down angle then forced into a 180ft tall raven loop and doing a turn to see the whole park lit up. Then I do a flip again and get blazed with flamethrowers on a smaller loop before flipping again and pulling into the station. It was so good I got everything in the store related to it (I dont have pictures of it right now but it wasent a lot just a patch and a shirt) and rode it again because that was the best experience in my life. Then I finally exited and I was sad because even though every ride sounded like some sort of extreme tourture you would go through for commiting a horrible crime... it was still fun in the end. 67/10, I will be coming back here as soon as possible to ride X2 again. Cant wait to see what else you guys cook up. Thanks :).

Amazing theme park. If you're looking for intense rides, this is the spot. Many types of roller coasters and attractions. Drinks are a bit expensive, so I just recommend to bring your own water bottle and fill it up. The food they sell there is pretty good. Heads up though, the lines are long to rides if you don't have a flash pass, so it's also a good idea to get one if you're a frequent guest.

Love Magic Mountain, great as always. Lines were better than ever and most rides were open. Only complaint is they HAVE to figure out having to stand in the did line just to get a re-fill! It's insane to wait 30 min to over an hour just for that, when other parks have figured it out. Otherwise this place is amazing.

The Camarillo Public Library, located on Las Posas Rd, is a point of pride for locals and a must-visit for tourists, especially those with children. The library boasts an impressive children's section featuring a reading room and a pirate-ship feature that will surely captivate young readers. Throughout the year, various events are held, including themed reading days. The building offers free parking and is considered one of the most beautiful public libraries in Southern California.
Parking: free and plenty of spots Probably the most beautiful public library in southern California. It's up there with Cerritos, Huntington Beach, and Los Angeles Central library. Has two floors. The young kid section is great. Has a room designed like a submarine, an area like a ship, an area with mosaic bench, and more. Very clean building. Camarillo did a great job with this. Anyone with a CA ID can get a library card here. Definitely worth seeing if you are in or passing through Camarillo. They have a used book store that closes at 4PM.

The Musical Road of California, located in Lancaster on West Avenue G, is a unique and innovative attraction that offers a one-of-a-kind experience for both locals and visitors. The concept originated from a Japanese engineer who accidentally discovered that scraping markings into the road produced a tune when driven over. This stretch of road seamlessly combines music and technology to create an immersive and interactive driving experience. While originally created for a car commercial, it has become a delightful surprise for those visiting the area.
I tried 45 55 and 65, and 65 appeared to be the optimal speed. It is easy to turn around to do it again it you want. The rumbles are across the whole lane. It is in the left lane on the westbound side. You can see the section of the lane that has the rumbles. The road is in good shape, and the tune is clear.

These musical roads are fun to find. This one I loved how they did because it's the entire road and not just a small strip. Unfortunately, it sounded a bit funky but you can kinda hear what it's wanting to be... the theme to Long Ranger / the William Tell Overture. Note: To hear it I had my windows closed. Either way, I enjoyed doing this as it is unique being only a few around the United States.

Random quick thing to do if you are passing by. Locals recommend going at 65-70 mph for it to sound a bit better. It’s in the left lane. Good turning around spots for multiple runs

It's neat, but not "go 2 hours out of your way to see it" neat. Tom Scott did a segment on this stretch of road on YouTube explaining how they messed up the measurements of the ridges, which is why the song isn't in the correct pitch.

It only works on one direction and it's way too short, 15 - 20 seconds tops, it should state the optimal speed one should drive at.

Musical road was easy to find and only took a minute to drive. It was a fun and unique experience.

We were in the area to see the California poppies and we stumbled in this road. The road is not that long but the kids enjoyed it. We went around 3 times. It was a good experience. We were all smiling when we passed thru the road. I recommend visiting this when you're at the area.

State nature reserve within the Mojave Desert has 8-mile hikes & a wildflower season March to May.
Very beautiful place, and it's a very good place for families to visit and walk around. Beautiful flowers all over the place and the trails are very clean and easy to follow. Overall loved it
Jennifer F — Google review
It was my first time here. I was very excited to experience. All the poppies, but unfortunately, due to the weather, there weren't very much. It was pretty dry. However, I did try to make the best of it, and I still walked the trails. They had there to check out the views. They were some poppies, but not as it normally would look orange all over the fields. There are different flowers. That you can look at plenty of lizards and birds. But not too many poppies. They had a cool visitor center which sold a lot of items that were very cute. With poppies on them. They do have parking there. You do have to pay an admission. They also have restrooms 🚻. Please be mindful and pick up any trash that you have. Hopefully, next year, the weather will be perfect for the poppies to Bloom. There was no super Bloom this year.
Sandra C — Google review
I went here for the first time and we liked it. We loved that the trails lead you back and no chance to get lost. Though cold, there are flowers especially on the side that does not have much wind. It’s beautiful. Fresh air. Greatfull to experience nature.
Chris M — Google review
I went years ago with the kids and it was in full bloom at the time. As soon as you see a bloom, I recommend going. I don't see any on the live cam yet which is too bad since it's late March already.
Lea R — Google review
We were unable to find any information about the best time to visit the park for the flower blooming season. After spending two hours traveling there, we were disappointed to find that the flowers were not in bloom.05/03/2025
Inna A — Google review
I overall enjoyed this place. The hikes were not very long. The incline was about 2% grade. Now to see the poppies in Bloom, it would depend on the weather. The poppies are sensitive. When I went, just before Spring, in late March, It had rained a lot causing the poppies too Suffer, due to lack of oxygen. So, as a warning look on their live webcam first or ask the ranger station if you can get a live person and ask them the conditions. The staff mini ATV vehicles riding around, but they seem to have missed many holes on the pathway that need filling in regularly. Good luck. 🙌🏼😅👍🏼🌅

There's no puppies this year but if you love nature you still enjoy visiting this park. You will be amazed by the variety of other flowers you will see. The tiny tiny chamomile gives the hills that vibrant yellow color that you will love.
Estela H — Google review
Incredible hiking trails full of all of the wild flowers you could imagine this year! We got there at 730am and the park was already busy. $10 to get in and worth it in every way. Definitely stay on the trails as to not damage the flowers or disturb any wildlife.

Set above Ojai, on a twisty road with beautiful views, the Beatrice Wood Center is an extremely interesting stop for anyone interested in the hand-crafted arts, especially pottery and weaving. There was a really nice glass exhibit while we were there. Pans we were delighted to meet one of the weavers, who we interrupted at her work, and who was so generous as to explain her process and tell us about the various pieces on display. All of them were beautiful and they’re for sale! Prices were incredibly reasonable for such unique items. Time it right, and on your way back down to Ojai you can pull over at the view point and maybe at h the “pink moment” on the Topatopa mountains.

Great location for museum with solitude in the hills behind Ojai. Beatrice Woods workshop is available for displaying her ceramic studio contents and finished works of pottery for sale, as her original home. She has an interesting lifestyle told by the docents minding her museum. Also, on offer are skillful ceramic workshops available as classes to learn sculpture in clay, taught by an instructor, as glazing, staining ant other artistic techniques.

A special homage to the spiritual ceramicist who lived and worked here to the age of 105. Maintained by a dedicated couple who give tours and manage the working studio.

The Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts lies on the outskirts of Ojai Amid a breathtaking mountainous setting. The Center exhibits Beatrice Wood's master works in Ceramics. Her travels, especially to India, are evident in the Center's display of portions of her extraordinary collection of Indian Folk Art. Fascinating glimpses of her exceptional life can be read from photos and documents displayed in historic house fashion in one section of the Center. Far from just being about Wood, the Center celebrates the best in ceramic work by other artists too. One of the exhibitions on view at the time of my visit was The Presidents' Show a showcase for The American Ceramic Society of Southern California (ACS SoCA) the premier ceramic artists' organization in Southern California . The Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts also showcases different kinds of art by diverse artists. Perhaps with a leaning towards Beado's love of Indian Folk Art , I came to visit the Center this time to view the new exhibition of Gond Art a tribal form of Indian painting done by individual artists in Ink and Acrylic Paint. The works are drawn from the mythological stories of one of the largest tribes in India with whom it shares its name. The works are compelling, mysterious and beautiful. In addition to the visual explosion of delights there is much more to be found at the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts . The Center boasts one of the most ambitious and diverse educational programs I have ever encountered at a small arts organization.. They offer a full range of lectures, performances, workshops, classes for adults and children and internships too. What is utterly amazing is that this whole operation is run on a virtual shoestring. It is in the words of the Center's Director ,Kevin Wallace (noted artist, author, curator, & 'magician'), " a labor of love". There is no endowment, no staff really, most instruction is done for the love of the craft by seasoned professionals who believe in the vision of the place. Rounding out all of this wonder is a great SHOPPING EXPERIENCE! Since Beatrice Wood was so prolific, there is a rich secondary market of her work for sale at the Center and there are many exquisite pieces for sale .The Center Store sells some of her matted and framed droll, wonderful drawings as well as lovely ceramic works by a number of regionally and nationally known ceramicists. Other types of original art are also sold in the store. There is an interesting variety of art related books available to buy as well. Visit The Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts, the setting called aptly called Happy Valley ( another story) is magnificent. In popular culture the name Shangri-La has attached itself to the Ojai Valley since the 1937 film Lost Horizon. If you are searching for a Shangri-La of the Arts in Ojai take a journey to the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts. You will find it there!

I've taken 3 ceramic workshops at Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts and all have been GREAT. Beautiful and peaceful setting, warm, welcoming, kind and gifted stewards Kevin and Sheryl (Sp?) create a wonderful space of creative growth and awareness. Kevin is especially gifted in the art of vegetarian cooking, and scrumptiously beautiful lunch was provided. Their excellence just SHINES. The instructors are FABULOUS and I just attended Natasha Dikareva's "Narratives in Clay" workshop...LIFE CHANGING. I can't say enough good things about this gallery, the classes and the people who run this facility. I swear, I would live there if I could. I feel as if I have walked on sacred ground.

What a truly special place. I recently took a ceramics workshop here and had an incredible experience. The two day workshop was taught outside on a massive patio covered by a canopy of trees overlooking the Topa Topa mtns. One of the best views in Ojai! And a perfect space for creating. The team at the Art Center prepared the most delicious home cooked meals for lunch with multiple salad options and incredible hot dishes. The instructor Jon Keenan was an absolute joy. I would highly recommend The Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts for any workshop or just to stop by and visit the gallery. An Ojai must.

If you are looking for an activity with a calm and peaceful vibe, this is it. It’s a beautiful short drive away from the main road and it’s worth it. The ladies are sweet. Dog-friendly in outdoor areas and plenty of parking too. We ended up purchasing the Tuscan Herb Infused Olive Oil and Raspberry Balsamic Vinegar after our tasting. I would recommend this place to my family and friends.

This place was a great spot to sample their high-quality olive oil. We enjoyed an olive oil tasting, but the bread was too hard, making it difficult to fully appreciate the flavors. However, the ambiance was wonderful, being out in nature was a nice experience. The service was good. My favorite part, though, was the drive to the place, it was scenic.

For our very first stop in Ojai, this place was absolutely perfect. The prices are very reasonable, and you can sample a wide variety of olive oils, infused oils, and vinegars. The setting has a relaxed, nature-friendly vibe, and pets are welcome to hang out in the outdoor area. A must-visit spot when exploring Ojai!

Beautiful selection of oils and vinegars sourced from Ojai and other places. Loved the atmosphere. The tastings were 15$ each for a variety of oils and vinegars. There is no tour of the site or any other information related to the tastings, as in it's not super interactive. Self serve and enjoy it under the calm olive trees.

The Tehachapi Depot Museum, located in Tehachapi, California, is a charming old depot that offers a glimpse into the area's rich railroad history. The museum showcases exhibits on trains from various railroads that have passed through the region, including the Mojave and Southern Pacific Railroads. Visitors can explore a working signal garden, a play area for children, and browse through the gift shop. One of the highlights is a restored locomotive on display.
Small museum dedicated to railway operations in the town and local area. The building used to be the town station, and suffered a major fire - since repaired and reinstated - some years ago. Super-friendly, knowledgeable staff who gave my wife and I a one-to-one tour of the exhibits, and lots of railway stories. There is a small shop with railway related gifts. No charge, but do leave a donation for this fabulous community museum.

The Tehachapi Depot Museum is an absolute must-visit for anyone passing through the area – whether you're a history enthusiast, a train lover, or just someone who appreciates well-curated local heritage. Housed in a beautifully restored train depot, the museum offers a fascinating glimpse into Tehachapi’s rich railroad and cultural history. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged, with everything from original artifacts and photographs to interactive displays that really bring the past to life. You can feel the care and passion that went into putting this place together. The volunteers and staff are incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming – happy to share stories or answer questions, which adds a wonderful personal touch to the visit. There’s also a great model railroad setup that’s especially fun for kids (and honestly, adults too). Outside, you can see real train cars and enjoy a close-up view of the still-active tracks nearby – a treat for railfans. And best of all, admission is free (though donations are appreciated), making this museum accessible and welcoming for everyone. If you're visiting Tehachapi, make sure to stop by – it’s a true highlight of the town.

The museum is beautiful, and this whole building has been rebuilt from the fire where the facade remains. The museum has plenty of information about the train and railroads in the city and area. The main diagram is the tehachapi loop, and it gives detailed information about its construction and how it works. The staff will give you a tour and detailed information about the exhibits.

Good display of the local train history. Outside display of crossing lights and guards. You can stand on deck and watch trains go by just 40' away. Tehachapi loop is 30 minutes away. Worth the drive if you're a train nut. Very friendly community too.

Fun little stop in downtown. Great couple working and giving some fun history notes. Saw a couple trains from the back deck while visiting. Nice souvenirs to choose from if that’s your thing.

Me and my family truly enjoyed our visit to the depot museum. Right before we came here we saw a train drive through "the loop", then we saw the same train as it passed the depot! We got the full tour, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job explaining some of the peculiar train history in the area as well as the artifacts in the museum. Incredible that this museum is run by volunteers. Worth a visit! Tip: the afternoon is apparently the best time to see trains pass through the loop...
Meindert N — Google review
We just happened to stop by this darling train depot not knowing it was actually a museum. We were thrilled!! The docent gave a fabulous tour and had everyone enthralled. It has a great history and Tehachapi is very blessed to have had this restored for this purpose. I highly encourage everyone to stop by for a visit it’s even more thrilling when the trains ride by…
Arlene A — Google review
The staff was great, kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The town rebuilt this after it was burned down by a fire. The downtown area was cute. The museum is free and totally worth a trip if you are driving through the area but probably not the hour trip that we made. The exhibits really taught us about the train in Tehachapi. It will be a 5 star places once the annex is complete and they get an actual train. The highlight was definitely watching two trains going by on the tracks.

What an amazing outlet mall in the middle of farmlands! The stores brand names have some really great prices that cannot be beat and some of the best trendy selections.. This place was like brand new super clean thanks to some of the cleaning crew especially LaTonya she did such an amazing job. Also, the gallery Bird Dog Arts is a must see Local Artists Museum and the owner has this cute little cat named Turkey. If you want somewhere new to try this is a must place to visit. Right near the Grapevine on the 5 and in the middle of California. Right now there are doing a lot of construction so no food court yet, but can’t wait to see what they got in store! I’m sorry I don’t have many variety of pictures everyone…🥸😎🥸

This place is big! So you will need very comfy shoes and a lot of patience. They have almost everything you'll need for personal us or for gifts. From 50% - 70% off on some items. From bags, to shoes, to shirts, and even kitchenware. There are clean restrooms around the outlet. And they have a few food places you can get a bite at, from a food truck parked by the entrance, to Auntie Anne's, Cinnabon, and Subway. Overall, I would highly recommend visiting this place for some affordable finds and bundle promo stuff.

Came from Fresno and making our way to LA, we stop by here to get some stretch and rest. It’s a unique outlet the way the store is presented. The mall isn’t as big as the other outlet. However, it has all the store that you may need and want to visit. We came here at a weekday afternoon and it was quite empty and there’s a few good deals to be found at the time. I suggest to visit this if you have time or it’s part on your way to be somewhere.

The Outlets at Tejon offers a clean and inviting outdoor shopping experience, complete with a basic yet satisfying variety of stores. Its open-air setting is a breath of fresh air for shoppers tired of the traditional mall atmosphere. However, the mall does fall short when it comes to restroom cleanliness, an area that could use some attention. Additionally, the layout is quite spread out, requiring a good amount of walking to get from one end to the other. Conveniently, it also includes a supercharging station for electric vehicles, making it a practical stop for more than just shopping. Overall, a solid 4/5 experience.

This place was awesome!!! We got to pick our blackberries, they are delicious. We had lunch, a combo for $11.99 that consisted of a homemade pot pie, (a generous helping) mac and cheese, and a drink. The store has a lot of fruits, candy, and fun. Also, there are different birds and some farm animals. Definitely will go back.

Not a petting zoo or anything even remotely close, at least in August when we went. But you can see some typical farm fowl and goats through a fence by the parking lot. The store though was amazing. Bought some hot pistachios and some organic treats.

I haven't had a chance to do the U-pick yet, but I've always had good service whenever I come through. Their savory okie pies are a delight and never miss. I only tried the apple pie once but it's a touch on the sweet side so I'd give that particular pie a 4.5/5 but a 5/5 on everything else. This is the first time I've tried the fruit and it was all delicious. The cherries are sweet and tart and the strawberries are plump and juicy. I definitely recommend buying anything that's in season because it is all good.

The venue was great, the lines moved fast, and the overpriced drinks were no more overpriced than they are everywhere else. And the staff and security were cool. If it wasn't 3+ hours away from me, I'd definitely go back and see a show here again. 🍻

Wish the seats were not so close from behind you feel every kick and bump and brush by from others walking behind. But nice first time visit

We attended the Cody Jinks concert a couple of weeks ago and loved it. The venue is smaller and more intimate than I was expecting, which made for an even better show. The sound was great and we were walking distance to our hotel. The drinks are priced as you would expect and the bartenders are super cool. Made for a great night all around.

The Kern County Museum is a captivating destination chronicling the rich history of Kern County through an array of artifacts and exhibits. Spanning 16 acres with 56 historical buildings, it offers a fascinating journey through Native American, frontier, and oil history.
The Kern County Museum is one of my absolute favorite spots to visit! It’s the perfect place to explore with family, offering a great mix of history, culture, and fun exhibits. The museum is beautifully laid out, with engaging displays that tell the story of the area’s history in such an interesting way. My favorite part of the museum is the neon courtyard. The historic signage from around town is simply beautiful, and it’s a unique and colorful way to experience a piece of the area's past. What I really love about the Kern County Museum is the variety of events they host throughout the year. Whether it’s a seasonal celebration or a special exhibit, there’s always something exciting going on that brings the community together. If you haven’t been yet, I highly recommend checking it out! It’s an enriching experience for both kids and adults alike.

This destination is an absolute hidden gem! I was blown away by the quality of the many exhibits that were on display. I would go as far as to say that the Kern County Museum is the best museum of this kind. Their recreations California history make you feel as if you have walked into a Time Machine. I was very surprised at how many reconstructions they had, as it took us almost 5 hours to see everything. We could have stayed longer too! If you are driving through the area on your way to the metropolitan centers to the north and to the south, I would HIGHLY recommend stopping by.

Great place though weathered. It’s huge with tons of old buildings to peer through the windows at and read small pieces of info. Not ADA compliant and lots of rough walking so don’t bring anyone not ready for a good hike in the sun with no rest spots. The “store” is behind the cashier at the entrance but you can’t go in. She has some water bottles but not guaranteed. Ask her to bring anything of interest to the window for viewing. Overheard one teen ask his parents, “Are we done? Can we go yet?” But they even have a train there! And so much more of historical relevance re how things worked. There’s an exhibit in an old dance hall that, if it’s open, shows the costumes of the singers and their instruments that entertained in the olden days. Anyway, I enjoyed it thoroughly and the lady collecting the money was pleasant though not knowledgeable about the history. There’s also a huge clock tower.

I came to experience the Bakersfield vibe, and the Kern County Museum delivered that and more. The Haggard house was well arranged. It was almost like being a neighbor. The whole experience was great, but the Bakersfield Sound building was like Hard Rock Cafe or R&R Hall of Fame, but pure country... loved it!

This was our second visit to this amazing museum and we will be going back!!! My son took me here for Mother's Day and I got in free he only cost $10. There is so much too see we had to come back. This time an older man was giving tours of old vehicles, wagons etc. He was so friendly and knowledgeable we enjoyed learning so much about the history of transportation. This is a great place to visit before it gets too hot. Everything is pretty much outside so we're good walking shoes and take water. There were two exhibits that are still not open and we hope to catch next time.

We went here for the safe trick or treating and the whole family loved it! It was the closest to trick or treating from when I was a kid. Super cute decorations, dance floor, bounce houses, food vendors, a movie, and more. We'll be going here every year from here on out.

Buck Owens' Crystal Palace is a renowned live country music venue and restaurant located in Bakersfield, California. Named after the iconic country musician, Buck Owens, this establishment offers a vibrant atmosphere where visitors can enjoy live performances by both established and up-and-coming artists throughout the year. The venue also houses a museum showcasing Buck's own music memorabilia and pays homage to Kern County's influence on western music.
Been to Crystal Palace for a concert and previous event but never for New Years until now. It was worth all the hype and more!! Prime rib dinner was amazing, the servers who worked instead of party, were great!! The entertainment, while not huge names, got it going on they had the place on their feet! We had a blast, so much fun!! Highly recommend it whether for New Year's or a concert, or just for a night out, Go!!! You Won't be disappointed!! Especially if it sells, we don't know how much longer we'll have this Bakersfield staple around! Hopefully whoever buys it, will keep Buck Owens dream going, it would be a real shame to see it go!

Okay. This was a fantastic venue! This place has all the elements of greatness for sure! Buck Ownens was a great singer, and he left behind a great restaurant. This place is a stop off for all up and coming country singers. This is also the Place that Garth proposed to Trisha... [Garth alert]. Food was above and beyond expectations! They served the best baby back ribs of any I have ever had! Service was good, and the waitress was nice. Can't wait for a next time!

My husband initially mentioned Buck Owens Crystal Palace while we were dating, stating his intention to bring me to this location. We are now celebrating our wedding anniversary here. Although the food and music are superior, the service from “Sierra” was deficient and disappointing! We experienced a prolonged delay in receiving our beverages and an additional wait for her to take our order; it is worth noting that the next table received service first, despite our prior arrival. Sierra made an error with my order, neglected to place my husband's order, and exhibited an unfavorable demeanor when presenting the bill. We would have preferred a different server, our night would have been perfect!

☀️ Buck Owens' Crystal Palace Made it back to Bakersfield! The Crystal Palace is for sale, hopefully it will remain open, but there is a chance it will be closed for good soon. The idea for the Buck Owens Crystal Palace originated in the mid-1980s. Buck spent most of his early career performing in small, smoke-filled bars and honky-tonks around the country. He wanted a high-class place for country-western music to be performed. Buck also wanted a place where he could "be himself". There is a museum with numerous memorabilia throughout his career. Live music and great food. And of course the buck-mobile hanging behind the bar. Once made for Elvis, Buck used it in The Streets of Bakersfield video.

A club atmosphere with dining and seating on many different levels to view the stage for many different music venues. Nice atmosphere and facilities and the dining area is clean and offers great service. The parking is protected by security guards on electric bikes who will follow you to your car, unless a show has emptied the building and everyone is leaving. The venue offers a gift shop and a museum of country music (Buck Owens of Hee Haw fame) the only negative would be the acoustics in the very back areas where the surrounding walls prevented clear music sounds reaching out ears properly 😔... Fortunately, a table was cleared and I was able to moved up to hear past the offending wall enclosure. 👍

Enjoyed this venue very much. If you're a country music fan this place is for you! So much memorabilia all over the place. Great picture opportunities. There is not a bad seat in the house. The environment and crowd was great. Brought my teenagers to see Charlie Crockett and we all had a great time. Tickets are affordable. We did not eat as kitchen closed at 10. I would see a show here again!!

Amazing place to dine at. First time me and my wife came here and it was definitely worth it. We got to see the famous Bakersfield sign, and also loved the museum part of the restaurant. The food was heavenly, i had a chicken fried steak sandwich, which was huge, and fries. Wife got a chicken fried steak meal, with baked potato, and loved it. Started off with some onion rings, which were divine. Ended the meal with chocolate cake, and oh boy, im glad i saved room for it. This place was really amazing, live music, cool bar has a Cadillac behind it, museum to wonder around and check out, made for a fun night. Definitely will be back here again soon.

OMG ...... This place is so nice. They have like 2-3 restaurants, ones like a regular restaurant, ones like a sports bar with a live dj and one is like a food court with a few different cultural options. Can u tell I like food....☺️. They also had an event center where we saw Morris Day and the time, 🪅D Train, 🪅Surface 🪅and a few others. 🎉🎉🎉 We had a blast! When you're driving there it may look like nothings out there then bam, outta no where a beautiful casino with a lot to offer inside. Go check it out!

Acorn Diner was not great. No bueno for me. But it’s the cheaper option at the casino. The service was good and the place was clean. I ordered the fried pickle and it came out hot. It’s basically sliced sandwich pickles and it amounted to maybe 2 whole pickles. However it came out really greasy and the breading was not too thick. I ordered the patty melt with fries. I think that I would have preferred it without the sauce that they used. But it was also okay. I wouldn’t get it again or recommend it. Then lastly I had a bowl of menudo. It was kind of surprising because the meat that was used was rather gamey so it was either lam or goat that was used. My wife is Mexican and she said it was okay to her. It wouldn’t be her choice again nor would she recommend. So caution when you come here.

Eating at Cedar Food Court. I ordered the Orange Chk Bowl, Mozzarella sticks and a Chicago dog. The mozzarella sticks were pretty good and hot. The sauce wasn’t too think and it went well with the mozzarella sticks. The Orange chicken itself wasn’t dry, but the sauce had a syrupy taste that eventually had the rice drowning in it and couldn’t eat any more of it. I didn’t enjoy it too much compared to the mozzarella sticks. I didn’t eat the Chicago dog myself, but my uncle said the grilled tomatoes didn’t pair well with the hot dog. Other than that, it was quite filling. Overall not bad and would be down to try something new.

Eagle Mountain Casino has such an amazing atmosphere with staff who do such an amazing job with attending to all customers. The staff are all so friendly, helpful and determined to be of any assistance. If you aren't much a gambler; no need to worry because their establishment has some great food as well! I really admire the team effort and teamwork that is put into all events. I also noticed how all of the employees engage with one another and everyone is always doing something keeping busy and making sure things are grounded like most businesses should be. THERE IS A REASON WHY THEY CALLED; EMC THE PLACE TO BE!

On Saturday Eagle Mountain absolutely packed in the crowds. Slot selection is large, however with the crowds, good luck finding an open machine. The atmosphere is lively and upbeat. ~Slots either are tight or pay meager tbh. But, the Casino offers entertainment, so take it for what it's worth. *Also there isn't a Hotel which is disappointing, and the Restaurants are something to be improved upon. I'd personally rate Eagle Mountain 5/10 overall.

Negative Review: Eagle Mountain Casino - A Disappointing and Rigged Experience If you're looking for a good time and a fair chance at winning, do yourself a favor and drive right past Eagle Mountain Casino. My recent visit was an exercise in frustration and a stark reminder that some casinos are purely in the business of taking your money with minimal pretense of fairness. The slot machines, in particular, felt utterly rigged. I play slots often, and I understand the house has an edge, but the machines here felt exceptionally tight and unforgiving. It didn't matter if I played low-stakes, high-stakes, old machines, or new ones—the payout percentages seemed insultingly low. I saw very few people win anything substantial, and what little "wins" I managed only served to feed the machine for a few more depressing spins before the bankroll vanished. The common pattern was machines eating money at an alarming rate, barely offering a bonus or free spin, and when they did, the payout was a pittance, often less than the original bet. This isn't just bad luck; it feels designed to extract maximum money from players as quickly as possible. Beyond the frustratingly stingy slots, the atmosphere did little to compensate. While the facility itself might be newer or cleaner than its previous location, the overall vibe is sterile and lacks the excitement one hopes for in a gaming establishment. Save your money and your time. If you suspect a casino's slots are rigged against you, you are probably right. Eagle Mountain Casino left me with the distinct impression that their machines are set up for one purpose: for the casino to win, every single time. There are better, fairer places to spend your entertainment dollars. Rating: 1 out of 5 Stars (Only because 0 isn't an option)

Nature & Parks
Tokopah Falls is a stunning 1,200-ft waterfall located in Sequoia National Park. The Marble Fork of the Kaweah and the Tokopah Falls Trail offer a refreshing hike with various pools to cool off in during hot summer days. The trail runs alongside the river, providing an easy walk to witness the impressive cascading waterfall. Additionally, visitors can explore other nearby trails and attractions such as Moro Rock for spectacular views of the park's western half.
This trail is nice, pretty easy trail. Took about an hour to reach the falls while still taking time to enjoy the views and take pictures. The falls were mostly frozen now in December but still worth the hike. Once you reach the falls, the trail completely changes and gets very rocky, which is a nice change of scenery. The sun is setting about 430pm so make sure you plan accordingly so you can make it back on time.

The hike up the falls is 1.7 miles. Took us 1 hour to get to the falls with lots of stops for pictures. We went here the first week of April 2025, and there's still snow everywhere. It's an easy hike.

This was one of my favorite things I did while on my vacation at Sequoia national park. The trail like every other i hiked was well kept. We went first thing in the morning cause I wanted to avoid big crowds and I'm so glad we did. Parking is limited if you want to park closest to the head trail. It was a moderate hike and it took us more than an hour to get to the falls but that will depend on your pace. The last 10 min of the trail it's rocky but doable. There are amazing views the whole way and pictures won't do them justice but take as many as you can. We encountered deers and a bear even follow us in a part of the trail...that was scary but a cool story now. The fall itself it's beautiful but dangerous so I wouldn't encourage to get as close as some people were when we visited. Take plenty of water and wear comfortable shoes.
Liza K — Google review
Short walk through the forest to see the falls and back. Took about 1 hrs to do, very easy trail overall. If your in the area id recommend.
Kayne — Google review
A breathtaking & underrated hike, mostly shaded except the last 10 to 15 mins. This gem is inside the Sequoia National park and of course General Sherman and Grant deserve all the attention. However this is one trail that not too difficult and shouldn't be missed. It's a moderately difficult trail, but can be done if you pace and take breaks often. It naturally follows the river and hence you weave in and out of meadows and forests. The last 15 mins are exposed and rocky. The start of the trail is near a campground. I presume you could drive and park across the start of the trail, however I parked at Lodgepole visitor center, another 15 min walk away with better access to water, food and rest rooms. The entire hike would roughly take about 2 hours plus time you spend at the falls PRO TIP - Plan to start hiking about hour and half or so to sunset, the entire hike is spectacular and you will be treated some magnificent lighting and views all along the way. - Carry enough water. There are water filling stations at Lodgepole visitor center. - Stay on trails - Appears everyone would follow it, but surprising the extremes people would go for a picture. No pic is worth your limb or life and off trails are often places of re-vegetation by NPS. Respect nature and the efforts of NPS Staff.

Go for this trail! You have the best views of beautiful meadows in Sequoia National Park here! It is a 4 mile in and out trail, starting right at the lodgepole parking area, we even spotted a bear from far, Oh my god we saw poop a lot of it in the trail! It was a running trail, a lot of people at that time, gives you an amazing view! Rocky and little steep like around 525 feet, could complete it in 1 and half hour.
Gargi G — Google review
The waterfall was roaring and a beautiful prize at the end of the trail. The tra itself isn't hard, just long. We enjoyed tiptoing though mini creeks and crossing over natural bridges. Most of the trail is pretty cool. The rocky part (towards the of the trail) was pretty hot and sunny. Be sure to bring sunscreen.

The Visalia Fox Theatre, a historic gem built in 1929 as part of the Fox chain, is a vibrant performing arts center with an ornate and decadent architecture styled after the French trompe-l'oeil technique. Its tall clock tower glows with neon lights at night, making it a prominent landmark in Downtown Visalia. This is a great older venue. I was seated in section B and had a great view. Checked out the balcony, and the sound was incredible from there. Parking along the street is plentiful both in front and behind the venue. Ladies do need to have a clear bag, no purses allowed.

The venue has been upgraded and looks beautiful. I remember as a kid going there to watch movies. This time it was for a music concert. My only complaint would be that the A/C seemed to be having a hard time keeping up. Even the artist complained multiple times that it was really hot in there.

Visalia/Sequoia National Park KOA Journey is a top choice for a convenient and modern campground in Visalia. It offers spacious grounds, modern amenities, and an easily accessible location within the city. The campground serves as a great base for exploring Sequoia National Park, which is just a short drive away. Visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of the giant sequoias, hike along scenic trails, or simply take in the awe-inspiring views.
We stopped over on our long drive home. Easy to get into with an RV with decent sized spots. Walked by the pool and it looked nice, didn’t swim but lots of people were enjoying the pool. Nice off leash dog area. Great staff in the office. It was a quick stop but would stay here again. Saw a few cute cats running around.

The location isn’t particularly scenic, but it’s conveniently close to downtown and Sequoia National Park. The staff is very attentive and welcoming, which made the stay more pleasant. Bathrooms are outdated but kept clean. One of the highlights is the spacious and well-maintained dog park—perfect if you're traveling with pets. The campground is quiet and feels safe, which is a big plus. However, be aware that there’s limited shade at most sites, so it can get quite sunny and hot during the day.

Visited this KOA campground Labor Day weekend. It is a small campground, spacious spots, mature trees and nice quiet location in Visalia. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Swapping out a damaged picnic table for a nicer one and giving us a late check out time for a small additional fee. The pool was big even though we didn’t use it. The bathrooms and shower areas were a little out dated but clean and functional. I recommend this KOA campground if you are in Visalia or visiting Sequoia National Park.
Christine W — Google review
We recently stayed at the Visalia/Sequoia KOA RV Park as our home base for visiting Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. The campground itself was clean and offered convenient amenities, including reliable access to shopping like Costco and other larger city comforts. Visalia is a pleasant town, small enough to explore in a day but big enough to have everything we needed. That said, there are a few things worth noting. The park is located in a heavily farmed area of the valley, which made it quite dusty during our stay. Water pressure was generally fine, but inconsistent at times. On our last morning, our hot water heater didn’t receive enough pressure to ignite, which delayed our showers. One of our main considerations when booking was proximity to the national parks, but we learned that the drive actually takes about an hour or more to reach either Sequoia or Kings Canyon. While this KOA worked well for city access, those planning multiple trips into the parks may want to explore options a bit closer to the entrances. All in all, a decent stay with the convenience of urban access, but next time we may consider something a little closer to the wilderness.
Thomas C — Google review
The tent sites are right along the road where people speed! It is entirely too loud at night! I felt like I was homeless and sleeping on the sidewalk. The shower house did not have any running water. The pipe at the camp site was turned off. The women's restroom looks like poor gas station restroom, not KOA standard. The entire campground smelled like a dirty muddy duck pond. Definitely would not camp here again.
