The Old Jail

Historical place museum
Sights & Landmarks
Built in 1818, this Georgian prison with an annex offers a museum with historical artifacts & tours.
I absolutely love this kind of stuff. The old and historic stuff I love especially old Jails. The history behind this place is incredible. They still have some of the old cells and jail wing that you can go into. The upper floors is the history of the town. The staff is great and knowledgeable.

Our Group had a wonderful time and and we all experienced a lot of paranormal activity

Did nor expect much, but it was very interesting and our guide Andy was the best and made the experience wonderful.
Leonard C — Google review
Cool museum with some interesting history. I learned a lot. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was, and if you love local history or just history in general I would stop by for a tour.
Leonard A — Google review
There is more history than just the prison. I learned a lot.
Christian M — Google review
Amazing place very well kept, spirits decided to interact very well with us. The staff is simply awesome! Thanks. If you investigate, definitely put it on your list!

Neat little museum full of history related to the area. We've lived right next to Chambersburg for 2 years and didn't know a fraction about the history until we visited this place. Yes they charge, and yes it's a guided tour, but you easily get your money's worth.
L S — Google review
Wonderful experience. Very interesting place. Went on a tour and learned about the history of the place. Tour was $12 per person, but we'll worth the time and money.

Hagerstown City Park

Mentioned on
10 lists
Park
Nature & Parks
Hagerstown City Park is a longstanding recreational area that boasts various features such as an art museum, shaded picnic zones, and a kids' splash pad. The park also houses a beautiful fountain and a vast pond where visitors can observe geese and fish swimming. Additionally, the park provides benches and tables for people to sit on or enjoy meals with their families. Children will find the playground entertaining as they run around playing.
Visited Hagerstown City Park on Easter evening, and it was the perfect place to pause and take in the beauty. The sunset painted the sky with soft pastel colors over the lake, creating a peaceful, almost magical atmosphere. The view of the Museum of Fine Arts and the surrounding nature brought a sense of calm and connection to history. It felt like the world slowed down for a moment, and I was reminded how important it is to take time for quiet reflection. If you’re looking for a spot to clear your mind and appreciate simple beauty, this park is something special.
Katie S — Google review
Got carried off by 10,000 geese from the local shark pond that I was trying to water-ski across. They dropped me at the art museum which was quite nice of them. Art museum was pleasant too. Afterwards the geese carried me off to an ice cream stand but it was in the middle of Canada, where they made me king of the geese. Perfect 5/7 would recommend again.
Daniel G — Google review
We were in the city for a short overnight visit, but were intrigued enough to stop for a stroll through this park. It is an expansive, lovely, well-maintened park, with lots of different areas including playgrounds, a pond, and an outdoor performance venue. It seems like a really great public space with lots to offer!
Jennifer N — Google review
This park is huge and has play equipment for seemingly all ages. It shows its beauty through every season. When it starts warming up it is always fun to take the kids to feed and visit the ducklings and gosling. I highly suggest a stroll through their paths and parks and around the pond to visit the Art museum there as well. Or maybe stop in when the music filled events can bring your souls joy.
R Y — Google review
Such a beautiful park. Peaceful in the rain. I love watching the ducks, geese, and swans in the lake.
Bria M — Google review
Enjoyed (along with the hundreds of geese!) the beauty of this lovely, well maintained park for the 1st time while visiting Hagerstown. Had no problem getting safe, free parking on a Saturday morning. I was pleasantly surprised that there was more to explore than I expected. The educational info about the historic buildings and surroundings was well done and interesting. Next time I will visit the museums.
KR — Google review
We literally stumbled into the park without intention and were wonderfully surprised! There is a great kids sub-park, a huge duck and goose pond, an art museum, a concert gallery, other water features, and an art center, all next door to a train museum. Very handicapped accessible and completely wonderful, and a complete surprise.
Jongira — Google review
Lovely park, you get to interact with the birds and ducks... Might get lucky to feed the fish!! Plenty of space and places to play for the kids. There's an art museum on site, as well as places to grill and gazebos to hold parties

Hagerstown Premium Outlets

Mentioned on
9 lists
Outlet mall
Shopping
Factory Outlets
Hagerstown Premium Outlets is a charming open-air shopping destination situated just off Interstate 70, only three miles east of Hagerstown. The village-style outlet mall offers a wide array of name-brand stores where shoppers can find apparel and merchandise at discounts of up to 65%. Popular brands like Banana Republic, Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, Kate Spade New York, Guess, and Under Armour are among the many options available.
The hige rating is all due to a kind-hearted man, an uncle who sells bedding between LOFT and COACH stores. We drove away after shopping here. Unexpectedly, the trunk of the car opened when we drove out, and the clothes and luggage in the trunk were thrown out. It was too late when we found it. Fortunately, we met this kind uncle. He packed up our lost items and sent them to North Face according to the shopping invoice, waiting for us to come back to pick them up. We were surprised and touched to get them back. Thank you to this kind man. It’s a pity that I didn’t ask his name at that time. Thank you!!
Susan L — Google review
Few stores and almost few visitors are there. Literally very few stalls in the food court. Not worthy to visit!
Talal Q — Google review
We stopped by back in March on a Friday afternoon and it was completely empty. A lot of stores are closed or empty. Kinda sad to see such a large property look like a ghost town. The food court is also kinda sad. Not a lot of options. The bathrooms are huge but dated and completely empty.
Bbt J — Google review
For premium outlet, I would have to say at least 50% of the stores are closed while the main staples exist, such as Under Armour, Eddie Bauer, Columbia, Nautica, Gap, and Brook Brothers, there are barely any other stores to visit. The food court is even more disappointing with only three options. If I ever come back, it will only be to visit those big namebrand stores for a quick trip and that’s it.
Adam C — Google review
Man I remember when this place was super busy and a well taken care of place. Now it’s sad and getting to be run down. Still has a few decent stores, but it really could use some rejuvenation. Times have changed since I was a kid, and locations that learn to change with them succeed while others that stick to the same old thing don’t.
Caleb G — Google review
Once a shopping destination—now just a sprinkle of stores I revisited Hagerstown Premium Outlets hoping for variety and value, but it’s clear the center has lost its spark. Most of the major brands are gone, and what’s left feels like a scattered mix of smaller stores with little cohesion. The energy is low, and the layout feels dated—like it’s been frozen in time for the past few years. If you’re looking for a full outlet experience, this isn’t it. It’s more of a quick stop than a shopping day. Disappointing to see so much potential go untapped.
Denise W — Google review
Don't make a special trip, most of the stores are empty. Possibly worth your time if you are in the area. An update based on the response from the outlet. I was not saying the stores didn't have merchandise, I was saying most the available spaces do not have tenants and therefore there aren't a lot of stores to shop in.
William C — Google review
Its a nice shopping center, there's different kind of branded store and even thrift store and many more. Plenty of parking space. I just noticed that some stores are closed, maybe because of the pandemic. So sad but I'm sure some stores struggle to keep up the sales.

The Inn At Charles Town Races

Hotel
Casinos & Gambling
Casinos
Unfussy rooms & suites, some with racetrack views, plus free breakfast & casino shuttle service.
This place is Beautiful, but the staff friendliness is out of this world. Everytime we walked past the desk we were greeted. Everyone was so nice. The lady cleaning was even selling that really nice smelling shampoo, body wash and conditioner to people. I have never stayed at a hotel where they did that for their guests. The hotel was super clean. The one issue I would say is the continental breakfast. It is by far the most lackluster thing I have ever seen. Hard boiled eggs with dry pastries, cereal and sadness. The rooms are spacious enough. You have a small in room mini fridge and a safe. The TV is okay, but who's there for TV anyway. The view outside is spectacular. Will be back!
Justin M — Google review
Fairly simple Days Inn quality type hotel. No restaurant or bar. Breakfast was limited to toast and English muffins. Coffee was empty. Rooms are basic but clean. Warning - this is a smoking hotel. The only reason to stay here is if you are going to the races and casino - very convenient with a shuttle running every few minutes. I would stay here again to visit the track and casino.
David C — Google review
Upon arrival, my room was hot and nasty smelling. I turned the A/C on and it didn't work properly. I had it at the lowest setting of 60 degrees and it made the room just barely comfortable. One light was out in the bathroom which was visible to anyone, and yet it didn't get replaced. Otherwise, good stay.
Melanie S — Google review
The rooms are incredible. I lived in Las Vegas for 4 years and spent plenty of (probably too much) time in the different hotels. The cleanliness and moderness of these rooms are on par if not better than most on strip. The water pressure in the showers was awesome. Every member of the staff was friendly and courteous. I cannot say enough good things about the location. The only reason they get a 4 on location is that they are attached directly to the casino.
Jeffrey B — Google review
We have stayed here many times over the years and have always had a great stay. Willa Ann at the front desk is always friendly. The rooms are a great size and always comfortable. On this trip Nov. 3) we had a few issue with housekeeping. There were no tissues in our room upon check-in so we went to get a box and the young man at the check-in desk handed us an open box from under their counter saying he couldn't find boxes in their stock area. There were long black hairs all over the bathroom floor; we took care of this on our own with some antibacterial wipes and then put a towel on the floor. On Tuesday morning there wasn't enough body wash in the shower for the two of us, and finally I suggest they check their vacuum cleaners as our room and the hallway looked as though they hadn't been vacuumed. We did report everything at the front desk, and we look forward to an improved visit next time.
Carol V — Google review
Staff is excellent. Checking in and out is super easy. It would be nice to have more seating for the breakfast time, possibly using the space in the lobby bar area with pub tables for breakfast time. Also, consideration for a coffee, tea, water (beverage area) in lobby for guests as only time for that beverage option is during breakfast hours. Happy guests equal happy casino players and returning guests. Thank you.

I booked a room online about a month ago for Friday the 14th! and it showed up on my app! Wednesday November 12th I didn’t see the reservation on my phone! I called.the casino at 8:12 on Wednesday to make sure I had a reservation and the girl said yes and that I had a 2 queen non smoking room! Unfortunately I did not get her name! I arrived Friday at 4:30 to find out I had no room! I was very upset! There were no rooms available! I was very upset as I just drive 4 hours! They told me that maybe there would be a cancellation! The 2 were very nice at the desk the girls name was Monique and I didn’t get the gentleman’s name! At 6:30 I got a call from Monique telling me they had a cancellation which I was so happy about! She told me I had to pay for the room which I wasn’t happy about as it should have been a Conor room! She told me that they would investigate this and if they see that I did have this conversation I would be reimbursed for the room! This is such a disappointment as I have stayed here over 22 times! They told me that when they brought up my account! I am waiting to here back from them!
Chris L — Google review
We were at the casino on Sunday, November 2… I’m not sure what was going on in the Final Cut bar as there was a new bartender and the place was a mess - all the tables except one were covered in dirty dishes. She was talking to some people who were sitting at the bar instead of cleaning things up. I sat at the only clear table and she looked over at me and asked if I would be dining in the bar. I said yes, and she told me she’d be over to wipe off the table. Obviously, she was not in a rush because she continued to talk to the people at the bar. Then she disappeared and came back and began to bus the tables that were dirty. I was not given a menu or asked if I wanted a drink, nor was my table wiped down. I gave up and just left. It wasn’t busy, so there was no need for her to ignore me and provide awful service (well, really no service at all).

Cowans Gap State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
Public park & lake offers cabin rentals, boating, hunting & 11 miles of hiking trails.
Had a great time Camping here for 2 nights with family. The facilities are clean and well maintained, all at a reasonable price. The beaches and trails are well maintained with plenty of restrooms for use. Hiked the lakeside trail and the overlook trail . Great views of the lake and the beach from both.
Prasad M — Google review
We accidentally stumbled across this place a few years ago. We went for a drive to try a new milkshake place (which sadly is no longer there) After that we decided to just keep driving. We somehow ended up at this beautiful little beach area with an amazing view. We were not prepared to swim, but we did dip our feet in. I’ve been looking to return, just haven’t found the time yet. If you’re in the area check it out. It’s a super cool place.
Ashley H — Google review
Beautiful park, but narrow lanes. Not well suited for larger campers. Tight to back in to spots, some are up hill and not very level. Was in site 112, about hit my bumper backing in. A loop can maybe accommodate 30 foot, but my 35 was a squeeze. Dump station not easily accessible, only the inside lane is usable. The outside you can't use, as the road is oneway so you would be facing the wrong direction. If your in the first section it is easy to get too, but if you your in higher numbered sites, you have to go to the park entrance, turn around and drive back into the camp ground to dump. Not well thought out.
James R — Google review
A very large campground with many hiking trails. One leading up to a lookout as seen in the photos. It's not a easy trail hike but does give a great view. There is a beach area and a nice picnic area.
Mark L — Google review
Love this place. The trail around the lake is always kept up and the park is clean and family friendly. They've really updated the playground -making it a really good time for kiddos too.
Melody H — Google review
Beautiful park in the mountains, with easy hiking trails. And if you want something harder , they have a few of those too.
Jessica B — Google review
What a peaceful place to take a walk and enjoy the outdoors. Plenty of parking. Restrooms, and picnic areas are also available.
Penny B — Google review
Cowans gap state park is my favorite park. This is an amazing outdoor recreational park nestled on the mountains of Buchanan Pennsylvania. There are several trails to enjoy and the overlook trail gives you the most amazing view of the gap. The best part is that you can ride the bike along side the lake trail and have great time with the family. A highly recommended outdoor recreational park nestled park for the family. Ample parking and beautiful landscapes.

Whitetail Resort

Ski resort
Nature & Parks
Year-round resort with winter ski slopes, a summertime golf course & multiple restaurants.
Whitetail resort is only 1 hour 30 minutes from Washington DC and a perfect getaway for families looking to do something fun. We did the snow tubing and kids had a blast. Tickets have to be booked online and I highly recommend the one with hot chocolate. You arrive and get your tickets at the counter and head to the area where you get your tube and then head ip the slope. It’s interesting as you just stand and the moving floor takes you ip the hill. Stand in line which sometimes can be long but once it’s your turn, you slide down the hill. It’s really fun and we felt it was safe as well. All the employees were welcoming and helpful.
Binod G — Google review
The only reason that I am giving Whitetail 4 stars is because it's not Colorado. Overall it's a good resort for being within a two hour drive from DC. You can easily go skiing and come back in the same day. This winter we had more snow and Whitetail had a good season. The lodge has everything you need including lockers, food, drinks. The selection could include more veggies but then again most people want those chicken tenders. Available: ski and snowboard rental, lessons, snow tubing, store, Starbucks coffee, restaurant, and more.

Skiing and snowboarding at White Tail Resort 🎿❄️ — so much fun! 😍 Perfect slopes, beautiful snowy scenery 🌨️⛷️ Great place to enjoy winter sports with friends or family 🏔️✨ Definitely an unforgettable experience! ⛄💖
Huỳnh L — Google review
Really nice experience at the park. The trails are well laid out, The Snow is currently being manufactured but once a good storm rolls thru it'll all be covered. There are lockers to rent, plenty of seating to chill out, eat some food, etc. I think the only thing that would be nicer is comfortable seating as the chairs are rocks. There's a gas firepit out in the courtyard as well. There are not a ton of parking spots and it was definitely parking lot hockey trying to find something. We got there in time for the first round of folks to start leaving so that helped. Passes are confusing. They have folks situated randomly on the sidewalk who say nothing to you just walk up to you and click their handheld scanner at you. There were some staff who were helpful but most were standoffish. Food is decent and there are a variety of options at resort prices so bring $$. Coffee is trash but it will warm you up at least. It's a convenient spot with some nice highlights but the lack of helpful people was my biggest issue and my biggest disappointment.
Neysan S — Google review
Great atmosphere. Although i have been skiing here and enjoyed the array of trails they offer. I have yet to hit the slopes this season. But I will test for the newer restaurant/bar day break. Great atmosphere, good food even with its limited menu. and the staff, Especially Morgan is quit welcoming, knowledgeable and has you whatever you need as soon as you need it! Oh and the fact it's dog friendly is a huge bonus. My boy Ace lovess coming and visiting!

I’ve been going to white tail since I was a kid. Recently I took my husband there for his first time ; for this birthday. We had a great time. The price is very reasonable and checking in is a breeze, you just need your confirmation number from the confirmation email. The staff are nice and helpful. I especially would like to give Roy a special shout out. He was so fun and just had a contagious joy about him. He pulled us down the hill in our tubes. He had everyone dancing and laughing and even took group pictures for the families going down the hills. Such a sweet guy and he made our experience even more memorable. My husband enjoyed himself so much he wants to start going there as a tradition for his birthday !
Karina B — Google review
I had the most wonderful experience here. So, I purchased some tickets for snow tubing for my daughter's birthday. However somehow the tickets were for the day I purchased not the date I needed them. When we arrived at the resort I was told that my reservation was for Jan 27th not the current date. I was so upset, the customer serve here was magnificent. The lady reassured me that customer satisfaction was their priority and she would fix the problem. We were blessed to be taken care by such sweet lady. She fixed the problem and gave us new tickets. We enjoyed the 2 hours we paid for very much. Thank you White Tail for hiring such wonderful people. We had an excellent time. I have recommended this place to a lot of my friends.

Love this resort. It was great for beginners. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I love that there was a ski lift chair in the practice area. It went very slow and was a great way to get started. I went with a group with beginners to intermediate level skiers and there was something for everyone.

We had an amazing time at the puppet theatre! My boys loved every moment! The performance was not only fun, but it was hilarious and entertaining! Wonderment Puppet Theater is an awesome gem that we are so happy to have found. Joe is awesome at entertaining everyone - kids and parents. Highly recommend for kids of all ages!

Great place to bring your little ones. Lots of fun games to keep them busy before and after the performanace.

We took our kids to the Wonderment Puppet Theater, and it was one of the most delightful experiences we’ve had as a family! The theater is cozy, welcoming, and full of creative charm. The puppetry was engaging and magical — our children were captivated from start to finish. The owner clearly pours so much love into every detail, making it a warm and personal experience rather than just a show. Afterward, the owner showed the kids backstage and let them play with the puppets!! Our kids couldn’t stop talking about their favorite parts and are already asking to go back. If you’re anywhere near Martinsburg, WV, this is absolutely worth a visit. A true treasure for families and children of all ages!
Michele S — Google review
Such a great experience! I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area with littles. My three year old loved all the toys/activities, enjoyed the puppet show and loved to play along, had a blast dancing with the other children after. This place is a hidden gem!
Jennifer K — Google review
Small puppet theatre run by two very nice and very passionate about the entertaining arts elderly gentlemen. Super kid friendly environment. If you happen to be in the Martinsburg area WITH children when they are open, you should swing by for a show. I wouldn't plan a whole trip around it though.

I really enjoyed this place. We took our toddler's from our church here yesterday. There is a lot more to do than we thought! They had a whole room where the kids could play and enjoy themselves before the show. He ahowed the kids how to use finger puppets if we decided to buy them and it was great! I'll include pictures for all.

Stonewall Jackson's Headquarters

History museum
Museums
Stonewall Jackson's Headquarters is a historic house in Winchester that served as General Stonewall Thomas Jackson's base during the Civil War. Visitors can take guided tours to explore the artifact-filled house and gain insight into the life of Jackson and his family during their time there. The museum showcases a collection of Jackson artifacts, including his prayer book, offering a glimpse into the general's personal life. The building itself has a unique Gothic design and is preserved as a memorial to Jackson's military legacy.
ONLY for those with respect, admiration, and hope that the energy of a true patriot will rub off on them!!! Learn details of Gen. Jackson, his life, wife, and true self. See his furnishings, and touch the same walls, floors, and stair rail. AWESOME

Fantastic museum tour of the cottages items and architecture!! Though small in size, its PACKED with such incredible artifacts related to Jackson and rare flags! Our tour guide was very informative and friendly and is an absolute must if youre visiting Winchester! Photos are allowed but no touching
Kenan P — Google review
Great experience, beautifully preserved home and tour guide was very knowledgeable and interacted well with our group. Tour was a bit longer than expected, but lits of great information! Tour is maybe not idea for children under 10yrs as they may become bored & are unable to touch things. Home & grounds are not stroller or handicap accessible. Off street parking was convenient, we stopped on a Thursday.

I had the greatest guide through the house. Very interesting and very moving.
Karin N — Google review
Our tour guide was WONDERFUL! She was so informative and took a lot of time with us. She provided a wealth of information and made the tour very interesting! This hidden gem is worth the trip! I didn’t catch her name, but she was the red haired lady. She was also very kind and considerate to my sister who was visually impaired.
Donna B — Google review
I have never rated a tour before even though I've been on many all over the world. This little quaint unsuspecting museum house that I thought was going to be a novelty site had the most passionate, genuine, knowledgeable tour guide I've ever had. Toby deserves all the credit in the world. I went expecting to learn a little about the house and see some artifacts, I left with a beautiful picture of the town, it's people, the war, politics etc. Fantastic tour guide. 👏
Ibrahim Q — Google review
The tour guide, Reba, was extremely entertaining and very knowledgeable about the house which made the experience memorable! The preservation of the objects are very well maintained, especially the historical significance of the flags showcased in the museum. I would highly recommend going to this museum!! Everyone who works here is super friendly and loves history, which is shown through their work on the museum. 10/10!

Amazing historical place to visit. Just outside of the main historical area in Winchester, the unassuming house hold large amounts of history. The tour last about 45 minutes and worth every penny. Tour guide it friendly, entertaining and quite knowledgeable. There was so much to learn about this place and its role in the war. Make this a stop if you can.

Art museum
The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley is a cultural gem in the region, offering a diverse range of attractions for visitors. The museum features an extensive collection of 18th-century art, including decorative arts and fine art from Europe and America. Additionally, it houses a captivating assortment of miniature houses and rooms. One of its current highlights is the Steinlen: Cats exhibition, showcasing the work of artist Theophile-Alexandre Steinlen.
Wonderful museum rich in local history of the Shenandoah Valley. There are seasonal and annual art exhibits along with manicured gardens to explore. The 90 acres boasts more than 3 miles of walking trails and wildlife to explore. Prices are very reasonable at $25 per adult, $17 for seniors and $12 for students. Children under 12 are free. There are incredible artifacts from the early periods of the 1800s and history from earlier periods. There is a nice gift shop and bathrooms and the staff was wonderful and helpful. Great place to spend at least an hour or two inside and up to 3-4 hours walking the grounds. Highly recommend.

I’ve lived in Northern VA for decades, but was unaware of the museum until a friend recently recommended it. The museum is excellent, the grounds are beautiful, and Glen Burnie house was very cool. We will definitely be recommending it as a fun day trip from the DC area!

A++ what a gem. Definitely recommending to everyone because there is so much art/history inside, in addition to serene/well-marked ADA trails outside. Beautiful sculptures and birds around (couple deer too). I may have gotten lucky: on a lightly-drizzle rain Saturday it wasn’t very busy and patrons were super respectful/quiet. I’ll be back soon, many thanks to all involved 🙏

Absolutely love this place. Every time we've went they have had different spotlight on the arts. Last time was metal dinosaurs sculptures. Just amazing! Well worth the money. Buy online for a few dollars discount. Great on cooler days.

Small but very well curated museum with exhibits in history, flora, fauna, as well as temporary exhibits. They had Frida Calho when we visited. The gardens are also very well kept, and they had art installations. The top of the hill has a view. The pretty cows were a plus. But don't feed them!

This museum is AWESOME! If you have a chance to visit don't miss it. The historic house and gardens are also fantastic in addition to the museum proper. Plan to spend the day. Also check their website for special events and free days if you are on a budget. I just attended a concert in the drawing room this past weekend and can say that if you love live chamber music preformed by top rate musicians don't miss the chance to attend one of the next concerts offered this season on the MSV events website. A truly sublime experience!

Recently my husband and I have really started to enjoy going to museums and historical homes and gardens. Coming to visit Winchester this was a must see for us. The cost of admission also covered seeing the house and gardens. There are a few exhibits in the museum photography is not allowed but many areas you can. The house had a few rooms to walk thru on the main floor but really the gardens and walking areas were amazing! We were there late October so the gardens were not full bloom but no less beautiful of a place.

We have been members for years. We love the MSV!! We always bring out of town family when they come to visit. We especially love the gardens and the outdoor exhibits. The annual Christmas card and other mailings we receive through the year is a nice personal touch.

The ranch also offers great local dining recommendations and beautiful scenery for a memorable experience.
Bill was great! I would highly recommend coming here, his horses are very well taken care of and easy to ride!! What a beautiful trail ride and lots of jokes and conversation! He made our anniversary very fun!!

Me and the family went out to take my son for us first horse ride. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about what and how to do it. We had a good time riding and learning about the different horses, and we got to meet the other animals on the farm as well. Dhall of DC/DMV

We had a great ride with a great guide! Bill was easy to talk to and gave good clear instructions on how to ride the horse! I’ve never ridden a horse until this trip so it really can be for beginners! In addition to a wonderful ride, Bill offered great ideas of things to do in the area and great local restaurants to dine at! The horses were very easy to ride.

Rocking S Ranch is the best horseback riding I've ever been to! I've been to multiple horseback riding trails throughout the Virginia region and Bill at the Rocking S Ranch make your experience the absolute best! My wife and I was visiting Hillbrook Inn to celebrate our 1st year Anniversary and I saw "Rocking S Ranch" as a good activity for us. I called to asked a few questions before our trip and Bill was absolutely friendly! I could hear his excitement and friendliness through the phone. Once we got our reservation all set up and finally met him at the ranch, it felt like I was meeting up with a friend by how welcoming and friendly Bill was. My wife, who hadn't ridden a horse before, instantly felt comfortable and was ready to get on a horse because of how welcoming BIll and his nephew Jr was. We got to ride Leroy and Timber. Two beautiful horses. We followed behind Bill as he told us local stories, funny jokes, and asked us about ourselves. It felt like we were all friends just going out for a nice horse ride. We felt like we lived here and we were neighbors! The scenic route we took was amazing and Bill did a great job at taking amazing photos of us with our phones. I've made this longer than it needed to be, but we absolutely loved it!

We had a great time riding with Bill. He keeps the ride entertaining and informative and takes great pictures too. The trail is adventurous but doable even for first time riders. Highly recommend!

We had a great time at Rocking S Ranch! Bill was a great guide and was full of jokes along the way! The horses were super sweet and trails were really nice! Beautiful area to go riding through, we will definitely go back again!

Truly, an amazing, down to earth, simple way to get away from your everyday stressors. My partner and I live right outside of DC and needed to get away. This was one of the first things that popped up on our 'to do list', and we are SO happy it did. We had such an amazing time not only riding with the horses, but the owner (Bill) himself was beyond kind, loved telling stories of his children, full of jokes... It was honestly everything we really needed at the time. Bill made it VERY clear that we were going to get some amazing photos, and boy did we. I cannot thank him enough for taking us on such an adventure that we didn't even know we needed. Worth EVERY penny.

A very cool gift shop with many fun knickknacks, they have ALL NFL teams! Obviously some are prominent than others, but we were able to get a few things for our teams on sale. The staff is so nice and helpful. My husband fell in love with it and we will be back!

Wayyyyy too expensive. Selling things double or triple the cost elsewhere and masks it behind a “buy one get one half off”. Example they did that with jerseys. $240 for one, $120 for a second ($360 for two). NFL would sell both for $200 landed on your porch. Absolute rip off here. I bought funko pops from funko. $10 each. Here they are one for $30, second for $15.

Great place to find football and baseball gifts. Mostly caters to Pittsburgh sports, but also has a good selection many other teams pro and college.

Amazing is the only word that fits. This shop rivals the pro shop at Acrisure Stadium. It's Steeler Country but all 32 teams are represented. I challenge you to get out of there without buying something.

WOW, they have the biggest selection of 🏈 Pittsburgh Steelers items, collectibles, and autographed memorabilia I've ever seen in one place!!! They also have some team items for the Pittsburgh Penguins🐧, Dallas Cowboys, and other team's stuff. Bring your bank book though as some of the merchandise is pricey! Worth the stop to see the innumerable items sold here... some of which are truly unique!

This was a breath of fresh appreciation for God's beautiful creation. On our return trip from Ohio visiting family, we stopped here just to relax and enjoy the clear weather and perfect 75* temps. While my wife paused with a view of her eyelids, I took to the trail that led to a 10-mile view across some of the mountains and valleys of Maryland. We didn't use the facilities this time, but on previous trips we have and it's been pleasant. Today it was all about pausing to take in the beauty. At one point as I was at the peak of the viewing area, a patriotic hymn rose from the depths of my childhood and I belted out the words to "God Bless America." No one else was nearby and it was incredible to just stand in the reality of the gift of freedom. Our culture spends so much time being busy and I admit I get caught in the whirlwind and rat race of it. So moments like this are such a blessing. I'm incredibly grateful for the moments and have posted the photos for your viewing pleasure. May God bless you and God bless America!

Clean, WARM (in winter), bathrooms and a nice place to stretch one’s legs while enjoying a stunning view of the mountains. One of the most scenic rest areas I’ve been to. A few educational sign boards explaining the history of the mountain pass and the National Road. Gives an appreciation for the challenges our predecessors faces and how the current highway came to be.

Stopped by the Sideling Hill Welcome Center looking forward to taking photos from the top of the hill viewpoint, but unfortunately, the pathway was locked off with a chain—likely due to needed repairs. It seems it has been closed for a while, which was a bit disappointing. That said, the rest of the visit was great. The area is extremely clean, with well-maintained restrooms (which is always a plus). The scenery is beautiful and the views from the lower areas are still very impressive. Plenty of picnic spots and open space make it family friendly and a great place to stop, stretch, and unwind. Very peaceful and refreshing. Would love to return when the upper path is reopened.

Cacapon Resort State Park

Nature & Parks
Resort hotel
Cacapon Resort State Park is a picturesque destination offering a variety of activities for all ages. The park features hiking trails, a swimming lake, and a golf course, as well as nature programs led by knowledgeable naturalists. Visitors can stay in the lodge or cozy cabins equipped with modern amenities and surrounded by stunning views. The on-site restaurant serves delicious breakfasts and pizzas, while outdoor cooking facilities are also available near the beach.
This state park is very nice, and seems well kept. Once you're on the trails, they are well marked and are easy enough to navigate. The cabins look very nice, although we did not stay in them. The road to the overlook and Almost Heaven Swing is only open May-October, and gets a lot of traffic midday, so plan accordingly. Looked like a nice beach as well.

What an amazing fall getaway experience 1.5 hours from DC. It was an easy drive and I was super impressed with all the park had to offer as well as the lodging accommodations. Offers so much to include biking, hiking, horse back riding, golf, pickle ball & tennis, nature center, playground for children, swimming & hot tub, spa , fire pits clay shooting, fishing . It's an incredible place and staff are so helpful .

Cacapon Resort State Park offers free entry and ample free parking, making it a great family-friendly destination. The large playground and picnic benches by the scenic lake create a perfect spot for relaxation and outdoor meals. Restroom’s availability is also good. Visitors can enjoy peaceful fishing or explore the park’s moderate hiking trails surrounded by natural beauty.

A beautiful State Park to visit. There is a dam with water overflowing, picnic areas, restrooms, nature center, playground and if you travel 4 miles up the mountain you can view 4 states from the overlook. It's absolutely breathtaking. Also on your journey up the mountain, you cross the most northern part of VA.
Debbie E — Google review
We have stopped here countless times through the years as a lunch break on our travels. There are many choices of picnic tables at which to eat and a variety of views. The small lake has a swimming area as well as stocked fishing attractions. There are streams, foot paths and a waterfall that we have explored while stretching our legs. There are a few different restrooms with running water and flushing toilets. I have always found them to be clean, if a little dated. There is a cool nature center with tons of displays and info about wildlife and local ecosystems. During the off-season, the only open restroom is in the nature center. The only drawback is the gnats. They are the worst in the summer. This is a State Park, we are outdoors, so this can be expected! It's no fault of the park. There are cabin rentals, a golf course, a big lodge, and a seasonal restaurant and l believe there are signs for horsebackriding. I have not visited any of these attractions. I think this is a great park and highly recommend it

Simply beautiful! Cannot wait to return. My husband and I came to spend a day on the golf course. Definitely recommend but bring cash for snacks and drinks. After golf we headed to the restaurant for some early dinner, DELICIOUS! Get the cream of crab, as a Marylander, it was 10/10! Also, do not and I repeat, do NOT skip out on the view at the top of the mountain. Was a perfect day!

Paw Paw Tunnel

Tunnel
Sights & Landmarks
The Paw Paw Tunnel is a canal tunnel located in Western Maryland that was opened in 1850. The tunnel features a long towpath trail and brass plates that explain its history, making it an excellent location for those interested in the history of the C&O canal. Currently, there is construction going on at the site, but visitors are still able to go through the tunnel with caution as it is boarded up except for one small opening.
Amazing, just wow! So glad I made the journey out in the freezing temperatures to see the tunnel snow covered and frozen over. Park at the paw paw tunnel parking lot and walk the .5 mile along the C&O trail to the tunnel. The tunnel itself felt like it was a .5 mile or so itself. There was a smell in there but it was very neat to walk through. Also, it was warmer inside the tunnel then out. Don't forget to bring headlamps or a flashlight.
Amanda C — Google review
This is a unique spot with a trail with a great view of the Potomac. The tunnel itself is a short walking distance from the parking lot if you are not interested in the loop trail. I highly recommend bringing a flashlight. Cell phones are fine but not as bright as a flashlight and the walking path is uneven with holes and cracks in some areas. Watch your step! There is a short boardwalk path on the other side of the tunnel. There is also a campground by the parking lot.
Michele L — Google review
We hiked down the hill from a parking lot to the bridge using Google maps as a guide, and saw what looked like much friendlier roads leading up to the tunnel, so I think there is likely easier ways to get there. It's a long tunnel with an uneven narrow walkway and no lights. I would not want to go through it by myself. Very cool looking piece of history. If your hiking I would be careful, it looks like it's all trees and smooth slope down to the water, but there are some sharp cliffs not to far off the pathways, be careful if you go off the path or you could fall and get hurt.
Ross K — Google review
Nice change of pace hike. Parked at the PawPaw Tunnel Campgrounds and walked the trail to the tunnel. I hadnt realized how long the tunnel would be and at 3116 feet long it was pretty impressive. Walkway inside tunnel is very uneven and had puddles so make sure you have a flashlight of some sort and sturdy shoes on. Boardwalk on the other side was nice. Path past the boardwalk was muddy in spots but easy to go around the worst. Made it to the Sorrel Ridge Campsite before heading back. So some deer and lots of fall colors. Overall it was a nice quiet walk with only a few people, would definitely do it again
Cyndi W — Google review
Two different areas to be aware of, theres the upper parking area on the mountain, and another parking access much closer to the tunnel below. Beautiful area, a few ignorant cyclists refusing to dismount crossing the bridge so I offered little room to pass without stopping. Yeah, im that guy ... dont care, get off your saddle here. Otherwise a most excellent area to check out .. repeat value is low, but if you haven't seen it yet, its worth the time. Enjoy!
Jason M — Google review
An amazing short hike that was fun and beautiful. Not the easiest to find. Was told there are several ways to get there. We hiked down a small hill with switchbacks. Definitely take a flashlight to walk trough the tunnel.
Debra G — Google review
I go backpacking all over the place. The one place I keep coming back to is the C & O Canal Towparh at the Paw Paw Tunnel. I begin my trips at the parking lot and hike through the tunnel. I will then go out to the one of the hiker biker camps on the other side. Sometimes the hike is out to the first camp which ends up only being a total of 2 or 3 miles. Sometimes I keep hiking and camp at one of the next two sites. That ends up being 7 - 8+ miles. No matter where I camp, I'm always experiencing hiking through the tunnel out and then back the next day. The Towpath with the tunnel and locks down the trail on the other side of the tunnel is a throwback in history. Even if you just come for the day, it is well worth the trip. As everyone states... bring a flashlight or headlamp. This review was posted January 2025, but the pictures were from October 2023 during one of my many trips.

When visiting Bedford, a trip to the Bedford County Visitors Bureau is a must. This bureau serves as a valuable resource for tourists, providing guidance and answering questions to help visitors make the most of their vacation. The bureau was established with the purpose of promoting the region's remarkable beauty and traditions. Visitors can take advantage of free walking tours led by knowledgeable guides like Adam, who provide informative and entertaining experiences.
We drove 85 miles south to Bedford today to find a place with no snow or ice so we could walk outside and see sunlight. Found this great Visitors Bureau. The gentleman was so helpful, gave us maps and suggestions on various places to visit. Most grateful for all his kind and informative help. We walked through Bedford downtown, other stores, saw Coffee Pot, covered bridges and went to a great Route 220 diner for lunch. What a friendly interesting town, we hope to come back again.

I appreciate the opportunity to see the craftsmanship from previous centuries and appreciate their artistry and the hardships they faced. I hope those my age and younger who live in the area will reconnect with the history being shown here to preserve it for future students and continue to reinterpret it as we learn more about our past.

My aunt used to bring me here when I was young and I thought it would be a great place to bring my niece to show her something new we had so much fun. They had people walking around dressed in the times telling us about the past and who they were and what significance they had in that time. The staff is so nice and they love showing you there trade and teaching you about what they are doing. It's definitely a cool place to take your children for a fun learning day. We didn't habe to wait at all to get in and it is very affordable 👌

Great example of period housing. We need to stop going mid-week and visit these places on the weekends so more people are there to explain stuff. I love how the buildings were condensed in one area so it was easy to walk around and see all the buildings.

We stopped by this place while on a long back roads road trip. Even though we spent a few hours here, we could have spent much longer. There is so much to see. It was quiet, not a lot of people which is nice, however there weren't many 'period' people either around to talk to about the history.

Rocky Gap Casino, Resort & Golf

Casino
Casinos & Gambling
Upscale property featuring lake views, golf & dining, plus a spa, an indoor pool & a hot tub.
We celebrated my daughter's 21st birthday here and were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful everything was. For starters, the resort location is beautiful and remote. Customer service was excellent from checking in to checking out. They allowed me to bring in a cake and supplies for our party (thank you Shawn at the front desk!). We had a dinner reservation for 8 people at the Lakeside Grille for 5pm. We were seated promptly and the view of the lake from the dining room was gorgeous. Yes, the food is pricey but it's an upscale waterfront restaurant. It was worth it in our opinion. Jesse was our server and he was top-notch!! He provided excellent, courteous, and efficient service. We never had an empty glass on the table! The crab cakes were delicious, my daughter LOVED her scallops (the sauce was so good you wanted to bathe in it!), the waygu burger was excellent, the crispy green beans were yummy, and the other sides were great as well. Jesse gave my daughter a 6 layer chocolate lovers cake with a candle on the house. It was so big that we all shared it. Overall, we were very pleased. We greatly enjoyed the casino and bars and especially appreciated that staff let us eat my homemade cake in the lounge with a large party. We had king-sized lake view rooms, which were clean and the bed was comfortable. My only suggestion would be that the rooms could use a more modern update - it's the only part of the resort that didn't feel as luxurious. Lastly, we enjoyed the outdoor amenities including the fire pits and ample amount of Adirondack chairs. It looked beautiful at night all lit up. Thank you for a lovely experience. We will definitely be back!

The rooms are clean, spacious, and very comfortable — a perfect place to unwind after a day of fun. The casino itself is great, with a lively atmosphere and even designated smoking rooms, which makes it convenient for everyone. There are several good food options on-site, with something for every taste — from casual bites to more upscale dining. The staff throughout the hotel and casino are friendly, helpful, and make you feel genuinely welcome from check-in to checkout. The pool is a highlight — it’s covered and heated but still offers a stunning view of the surrounding mountains, which makes it feel both relaxing and scenic. The hotel also has a beautiful beach area right on the lake, a peaceful spot to enjoy the outdoors or watch the sunset. Overall, Rocky Gap is the perfect mix of relaxation, entertainment, and natural beauty. Highly recommend for a weekend escape or a longer stay!

The location was beautiful and we had a great time with the outdoor recreation. I took a kayak out and really enjoyed paddling around the lake. The food wasn't bad. We were there for a conference, so sometimes banquet food is hit or miss. Theirs was pretty good. Unfortunately, that's where the good parts end. Every person, that I heard speak about how well they slept, said their bed was hard as a rock. I agree, I slept terribly. The real kicker was the terrible coffee. I'm never surprised when the coffee in the room is bad, because it usually is, but the coffee downstairs was just as bad. I spent 2 1/2 days with bad coffee and Starbucks was a 16 minute drive, and doordash said we were too far away for a delivery. If you love hard beds and you're not a coffee drinker, this is the place for you!

Good Room. I was there for 2 nights over weekend. The room was very clean and comfortable. I did Lakeside so beautiful view. The casino was a lot of fun. The grounds are good for walking around. I thought the service was ok. Dinner was good but Breakfast food was awful. Why can't they cook a decent breakfast? We basically ate the toast. This is such a nice place to stay but it would help if breakfast was better. Coffee was really awful too. My thanks for Housekeeping for the clean room. I did like it so will stay again,

Rocky Gap Resort & Golf offers a picturesque lodge overlooking the beautiful Rocky Gap State Park. We visited in the fall, and the autumn colors made the scenery especially stunning. The resort was clean, the service was great, and I enjoyed a very relaxing facial at the spa. The golf course, set against the mountain backdrop, looked absolutely beautiful. If I had one small complaint, it would be that the rooms weren’t very soundproof but overall, it was a lovely and enjoyable getaway.
Teressa M — Google review
It's in a beautiful setting and the larger restaurant has amazing floor to ceiling views. The food is quite good. If you like golf, people coming back said it was a good course. The casino is on the small side (which I prefer). They do have a section of tables for blackjack and poker. I was disappointed they didn't have roulette. I've never seen so many penny machines so you can go without spending a large amount. I enjoyed the machines where you could select from multiple denominations and machines that had multiple types of games.

This resort was so peaceful, serene and beautiful. Everyone was so nice the staff friendly and other people that were there. The room was quiet and comfortable. Little small things needed repairs. The restaurants were nice although we only went Signature’s the chicken wings were the best. And I can’t leave out the casino it was nice and I won a little bit.
Michelle C — Google review
We thought this hotel was overpriced for what is was and what it offered. Some of the employees were nice but others were not. The beds were comfortable but the room was just okay. The cost for 1 night with all the resort fees was around $250. We would not stay here again for that price when the resort was just "okay".

Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad

Tours
Historical landmark
Locomotive excursions that include meals in the dining car, plus bald eagle spotting & souvenirs.
What a wonderful experience! We took the train into The Trough and chose the Superior dining option. The service was top-notch and the food was fabulous. The decor felt like traveling back in time. Then there was the magic of the scenery, especially the bald eagles. There were 15 sightings on our trip. My husband and I are already planning to do it again this Winter. Highly recommend.
Pam C — Google review
Absolutely wonderful! The staff are some of the nicest, most accommodating people I've ever met. The train is wonderful. The ride itself is so smooth, it felt like I was riding on air. They must really put a lot of time into maintaining the tracks, as I've never had such a smooth ride. The food and service is awesome. Such a fantastic way to spend the afternoon. The scenery is gorgeous. Highly recommend!!

We had a wonderful time on our all day train ride to Petersburg. We decided to go with the Club Service and did not regret it. The seats were so comfortable and we appreciated the climate controlled car on the hot day. The dining experience was tremendous with excellent dishes and the very attentive attendant in our car. Tara made sure our glasses were always full and served our food in a very professional manner. We saw bald eagles on the trip on both passes through the "Trough." The staff did a stupendous job of sighting and pointing out the eagles. I highly recommend this trip
Cindy C — Google review
Wanted to do something different so the Potomac Eagle came up when I Googled "train rides in WV". Sounded awesome from the first time I got on the website, and it definitely was. We did the Sunset Trough Canyon with the Superior Dining (4 course meal), and honestly picked this over the Club Service because the food sounded better. We took the scenic route from Morgantown to enjoy the drive and see if any fall colors were coming out, and arrived probably 45 minutes early. Everything was well organized for check-in and boarding and we departed promptly at 5 PM. The route takes you along the South branch of the Potomac River for an out and back trip. The area is known for eagle activity and nesting, and has spotters to inform people where the nests are and if there are eagles seen perched or flying. We were extremely lucky as we had major eagle sightings the entire trip, and I believe the official count at the end was two dozen (24). It's always a thrill to see one in the wild and this trip made it easy. They also point out different historical events and items that happened in the area, with much of that still in existence today. Service from all personnel on the trip was amazing, very courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Our attendant Kaleb and his fellow attendant (didn't catch her name) both did an awesome job of telling us what to expect, rules and guidelines for the trip, and actually serving our dinners. I won't go into detail what our meals were (photos will be posted) but the beef tenderloin and porkchop were AMAZING, as well as everything else. Beer and wine are served (pay at the end) in this level and the Club, and we had a couple each. If you go, use the option to see the trough on the gondola car as it's open and you get much better views than looking out the windows. They announce when it's time for your car, if you decide to do it. Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting the experience. 5 🌟. Definitely would

I had the pleasure of going on the Trough Canyon tour in June, and it was truly an unforgettable experience from start to finish. We opted for the **Superior Dining** option, which included a **4-course meal**, and I must say, the food rivaled anything you’d expect from a high-end restaurant. Every dish was expertly prepared and beautifully presented. Our server, **Kaleb**, made the experience even more enjoyable. He was incredibly **attentive, courteous, and knowledgeable**, ensuring we were comfortable and well-informed throughout the ride. It was also a pleasant surprise when the **chef personally stopped by** our table to check on how we were enjoying the meal—a nice touch that made the dining feel extra special. The tour itself was just as impressive. The train goes through the stunning **Trough Canyon** twice. During the first pass, we enjoyed the first three courses of our meal while listening to a knowledgeable guide over the **PA system**, who shared **historical facts** and pointed out **eagle nests** along the way. On the second pass, we took advantage of the **open-air gondola**, which gave us a completely different and more immersive view of the canyon. The highlight for me was capturing a photo of a **bald eagle perched in a tree right next to the rail**—an absolutely breathtaking moment. Overall, I can’t recommend this tour enough. The combination of **scenic beauty, top-tier dining, and exceptional service** made it a standout experience that I would happily do again.

First time to experience this and it was excellent! My daughter had a blast looking at the mountains, river, and best of all eagles! We saw 6 eagles and 3 nests. The food was awesome, service was fantastic, everyone was super friendly and very caring how our experience was. I would definitely do this again. :)

I’ve ridden the Canyon excursion twice with my girlfriend, and we’ve had an amazing experience both times! The passenger cars are very comfortable, and the staff is amazing. They were incredibly helpful, and the food was so good! I’d go back just for the food! We also saw several eagles, and they were great at pointing out the nests so we had time to get our cameras ready.

This trip is like stepping back in time when life moved more slowly and the railroad played a central role in people's lives. The service is first class and the crew and staff are excellent. I have ridden 3 times this season. The full Petersburg run is a great way to spend your day and the Trough trip is great for first time riders. It is nice to take the trip a different times if the year so you can see how things change with the seasons.

The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad offers a unique blend of transportation history and breathtaking mountain views. This heritage railroad operates from Cumberland to Frostburg, taking passengers through the Allegheny Mountains on ex-Western Maryland Railway trackage. The journey includes notable attractions such as an iron truss bridge, the Helmstetters Horseshoe Curve, and the 914-foot Brush Tunnel beneath Piney Mountain.
The train is awesome. The views are stunning. I had a great time. $45 for a 4+ hour event is a great price. The ability to sit in the open air cart was cool too. Cumberland and Frostburg are some of my favorite towns.
Sonny A — Google review
It was a beautiful ride however, unless you want to get smacked with bits of coal and dust and bugs, I recommend sitting in the closed window area. It took a week for me to fully scrub all the coal or whatever was in the air from the trains smoke. It was a much better ride back when I realized that there was an area with closed windows. At the stop in Frostburg there’s a nice little eating area. The nachos were delicious. I highly recommend with the pulled pork. There’s a wonderful carriage museum. That was very educational. It was a nice little rest area. Overall I give the trip a 8.5 out of 10.
Antonella T — Google review
Actually, I give 4.5 stars. This railroad experience is awesome! Several different train options and experiences. People are friendly and the scenic views are amazing. A few things to know: -don’t bother going up into Frostburg. Many stores and most restaurants closed. And it’s not much to look at either. Spend your time walking down the trail, reading the coal miners historical walls or the little museum. -be very careful if you are a party of two and reserve a table that can seat 4. Mostly likely you will be seated with strangers. We just watched a poor couple who sat with people who talked - about themselves- the entire trip up and back. Couldn’t even enjoy the scenery. They just sat there and had to listen - dome car is very nice. But know the tables are Small. Felt cramped. Bring your own food and enjoy a nice meal with appetizers provided.

Magnificent engine. Stunning views. We did the lunch class. Food and drink service was good. Server was attentive. Kids might like the coach class better as it’s open. Both city Cumberland and Frostburg are stunning to walk around with lots of history. Train stopping for one and half hour at frostburg gave us the perfect time to explore the lovely city. This is a hidden gem we didn’t know about.
Lopa P — Google review
The Frostburg Flyer was a perfect way to spend a day with family. Fortunately for us, the 1309 Steam Locomotive was up and running (only weekends), and it chugged its way along the tracks for a slow, steady climb up the mountain to Frostburg. With temps in the 70's, we chose to sit in the open air car. The signs are correct, you will get covered in ash and soot, but I think that's all part of the experience. Most of it just brushed off when we stood up, but it was all over everything. If you didn't want this full experience, you can sit in the enclosed cars. The scenery was great, the conductor's narration was informative, and the services at the Frostburg station were plenty. Knowing that the diesel engine would pull us back down to Cumberland on the return trip, we rode in the open air car again, and that was just about perfect. No soot and ash on the return trip. If you're looking for a scenic ride, a family-friendly outing, and to live the steam train life first-hand, the Western MD Scenic Railroad is hard to beat.
Bill T — Google review
We booked the dome class for 4 people and paid around $600 including the security fee, expecting a premium scenic experience. Unfortunately, the ride fell short in several ways. We had no idea that the train would do a round-trip without turning around, so we were stuck on the less scenic side for the entire journey. All the best views were on the opposite side. For the price, it would’ve been much fairer if the staff rotated tables or offered a lower price to ensure everyone got a balanced experience. The service and communication were poor. The person sharing route commentary stood near the entrance, and we could barely hear what was being said throughout the car. It felt unorganized and unengaging. The complimentary charcuterie board was also underwhelming — mostly just pretzels, a couple of stale cheese varieties, a few crackers, one type of salami, and bottled water. Definitely not what you’d expect for the price. Lastly, the condition of the dome car itself was concerning. The window above us was cracked, which made it uncomfortable (and a little scary) to sit beneath. Overall, this experience did not feel worth the money. We were excited about a relaxing, scenic ride, but left disappointed. This train has potential, but major improvements are needed in value, fairness, service quality, and maintenance. Seats(D3A, D3D)

The ride and the views were beautiful 😍 It was my first train ride and I enjoyed it. I gave it a 4/5 for a few reasons. First, it didn't specify that you only have a meal option if you book the lunch ride. We booked the Dome so we could have better views (totaly worth it), but we assumed we would be able to order food at an additional cost. That wasn't the case. However, they do provide light snacks and water, and you can purchase soda, tea, and alcohol. I don't think the 90-minute layover in Frostburg is enough time. We struggled to find a restaurant that was open and didn't have a long wait (we went on a Friday afternoon). We ate at "The Princess Restaurant," which has diner type food, and it was delicious and fast service. Also, the space between the table and seats on the train is rather cramped. I'm only 5'1", and I barely had leg room from the other couple sitting across from us. A larger man was sitting across us at our table, and he was very uncomfortable. Overall, it's still worth it, and we had a nice time! Just wanted to share a few details that may help others 😊
Carri K — Google review
The train ride was great! The atmosphere and service were truly amazing experiences. My family and I will definitely do this again. We rode in the lounge class, and the drinks were delicious and unique.

Flight 93 National Memorial

Memorial park
Sights & Landmarks
Site of United Airlines Flight 93's September 11, 2001 crash is now a memorial with a Wall of Names.
Visiting the Flight 93 National Memorial was an incredibly moving experience. The grounds are beautiful and serene, creating a space that is both respectful and powerful. Walking through, you can feel the weight of history and the deep honor given to those who showed such bravery that day. It’s thoughtfully designed, and every detail encourages reflection and remembrance. A truly humbling place that everyone should experience at least once.

Big thanks to those people who built this memorial place for those innocent victims.. I found myself so emotional and tears rolling down my eyes at the visitor center, learning more of what happened, listening to the audio recordings, seeing those found debris, and pictures of the victims and their information on that one unforgettable day.. They are the bravest heroes of the USA along with the others who helped 9/11 survivors... Don't ever forget them! 40 passengers and UA crew members + 1 unborn baby of the Flight 93. I honor them and may they rest in peace.. The Tower of Voices has a very beautiful structure. It wasn't windy that day, but I heard about 3 small chimes and it made me really happy and emotional. You can just even feel their presence there. Also a nice place to reflect and pray for them.. Thank you also to the 2 park staff who had a small talk with some people explaining more of what happened. They are very knowledgeable and nice. We also bought some souvenirs to help the park as well. Whenever you get the chance, please visit this memorial.

We were humbled by the care and attention to details that went into creating this monument to those to gave their lives to save others. This solemn graveyard speaks for those who met their fate on the clear September morning in the choice of materials and their arrangement and the surrounding gardens make for a peaceful respite. It was well worth the drive and an unforgettable experience.

An actual memorial that commemorates this dark time. It’s heavy but beautiful and heart wrenching. Please remember this is a place where our brave patriots lost their lives. This is hallowed ground and needs to be paid proper respect. Let’s Roll is forever etched in my heart.

Great memorial. Class of teenagers on school field trip while we were there. The teacher had them break up in groups and select a name off the memorial wall. They then had to look them up and tell the others about that person. Loved that the teacher made them see the names as real people. Cuddos to him! Have to admit we kind of followed them around. Learned things I didn't know.

Really enjoy visiting this memorial. They did an absolutely amazing job and made it non commercialized. We enjoyed every part of the exhibits. My only complaint is the fact that the sidewalks appear to be significantly damaged from snow removal. The wind chimes you mostly hear the clanking from the metal and not the tones. Will visit again.

Visited the Flight 93 National Memorial on a Wednesday in October—turns out the only thing open during a government shutdown is the wind! 🥶💨🧊 We braved the freezing temps and wind tunnel conditions to pay our respects at this powerful place. Couldn’t go inside the Visitor Center (thanks, shutdown 🙃🚪🔒), but we still saw the Tower of Voices (those wind chimes were working overtime! 🎶🌬️), the Wall of Names—each one a reminder of bravery and sacrifice 🕊️🙏—and the impact site marked by a giant boulder 🪨. Bonus: some local deer were hanging out, probably judging our choice of outerwear. 🦌🦌🧥 Shutdown or not, it was a moving experience. If you go, bring layers and your best windproof hat! 🧣🧤🧢 #Flight93 #Shanksville #WindyWithAChanceOfDeer

An amazing place to visit then pay your respects. I've never left for the dry eye. Take time to take in this amazing place couple things to keep in mind. If and when the president is coming to visit this location, the security is outstanding. Which means that you cannot get down to the lower section and the walk is locked. And normally there in the morning portion. So if you go around lunch time the parking is easier and you can take in everything without having a security issue. But if you are there when he is there, the tribute to the families is absolutely beautiful. Don't look at this as a vacation spot, or place to check off a bucket list. Look at this a place to thank God for the gifts that you have, the family is that you love that still with us. Antique pay respect to those who did lose their loved ones.

Flight 93 Memorial Chapel

Church
Sights & Landmarks
Whitewashed sanctuary with memorial stones for passengers of the flight brought down nearby on 9/11.
Beautiful little church that had been abandoned, used as a feed storage, and then made into a memorial after the terrorist attacks. We got there after the church was closed so don’t see inside but the grounds are well kept and peaceful. Volunteers stay close by (Hi Paul) to assist with questions and history. Worth a stop to see each flag with information about each passenger on the flight. Memorial to the Pilots and crew is beautiful as well. You can also ring the bell (4 times for each plane). Allegedly if weather conditions are right, it can be heard at the NPS memorial site not far away. Check hours if you want to see inside the.

Such a cute place to walk around and enter into each of the little artisan and their craft. It was our perfect stop on the way to the lake as we were able to get a few items that were very helpful and practical for our trip, such as a quilted purse/phone holder, activity guides for my kid, and a selection of handmade herbal balms and sprays (including a tea tree antibacterial antifungal foot spray that smelt amazing, a balm for anti-intch/rash/bug bite, and a natural bug repellent spray). Every store that I bought from accepted card, but do know it depends on their Wi-Fi connectivity so I wouldn't hurt to bring some cash on you just in case.

This 4,072-acre park offers seasonal & year-round activities including swimming, hiking & camping.
I visited with a couple of friends on a Wednesday at the end of July 2025. We had an enjoyable day at the park. We started with a quiet picnic in the Old Mill Picnic Area. We followed that with a not too strenuous but very scenic hike on the Hemlock Trail. We finished with a little history at the Civilian Conservation Corp Monument.

Stayed @ site #203 over the 4thof July weekend, had a great time! Restrooms/showers close by and well-maintained. The park had family-friendly activities, we had to suddenly use the washer/dryer up the open-field loop and they came through in a pinch!

Laurie State Park is a gem! The cabin was cozy and peaceful, and waking up to the amazing sunrise was absolutely surreal. We stayed in Cabin 8, which is close to the washroom yet offers great privacy. A perfect spot to relax and recharge.

A very well maintained park. There is an excess of parking. There is a sandy beach to go swimming at. There are no pets allowed on the beach. You can rent private huts overlooking the beach, or you can grill at one of the picnic tables. There is a large grassy area, a boat launch, plenty of hiking trails, multiple great fishing spots, public restrooms, and even a place to grab snacks. I would recommend this park to anyone nearby. I would also recommend setting aside a whole day to enjoy this park and see everything that it has to offer. There is handicap accessible entrances for those who require wheelchair-friendly points of access.

Shout out to Diane for helping us pick the perfect camping spot! If you need any information and she answers the phone, she will not steer you wrong! I called to ask about reserving a campsite and she said "oh you don't want that one!" and directed us in a much much better direction. If you haven't been there, highly recommend calling the office and talking to her. You can tell she is passionate about helping people and loves the place! Also, the hiking areas are beautiful and most certainly didn't disappoint! I was concerned with how small and close the sites are to each other, but I was pleasantly surprised by how less busy this place is than a lot of other places.

Beautiful state park with lots of trails and sandy beach on the reservoir. The campground is small with sites close together. I noticed there is a lot of handicap access, including to the water. The bathhouse is outdated and could use a good cleaning. The "hosts" never even acknowledged me on the whole stay even though I walked the campground daily. That was a bit odd. It's definitely a nice stop if you are traveling through, but I wouldn't seek it out.

Lots of shade and easy to walk trails. Nice ranger station when you first come in. Very helpful ranger - she mentioned visiting the high point overlook which is just outside of the park.

Seven Springs Mountain Resort

Ski resort
Fun & Games
Skiing, sporting clay & golf are available at this sprawling property with a spa & free WiFi.
Great place, feels quality, has great trails and slopes, fun times, and great areas. I had a great time at the long trails and enjoyed some blues, great snow conditions right now, and we got plenty this year! Would recommend going here to anyone interested in skiing. No one said it was cheap, however.

Had a great ride on the ski lift to see the leaves everyone was accommodating to help us with our limitations. Great place will come again

The food (buffet style) was terrible. Exceptions were the fish, vegetable lasagne, and bacon. A buddy had a hamburger in Bavarian bar, said it was okay. The grounds are sprawling. The buildings are magnificent and 'dated' at the same time. Very rustic, but could use carpet & wallpaper upgrades. The halls feel slanted, not level...to be expected with older buildings. If I heard one person say it had a "The Shinning" feel to it. The rooms in the tower were spacious, and the beds comfortable. Pillows are exceptional! The balcony was a very welcoming space. The shower heads were a bit low, I'm 6'2" tall and had to duck to shower. Water was good n hot, and got hot quickly. We were here for a business junket in the fall, I'll bet winter months & maybe summer are a much better experience. They have plenty of activities to partake in, but $18 for one game of bowling seemed pricey. As were the other activities available. Drinks in the bar were very reasonable. The ENTIRE staff i had interactions with from the front desk to the restaurant staff to maintenance to security were personable, professional, and courteous. 5☆'s to them! I'd definitely give this Seven Springs Mountain Resort at another time of year, on a personal or family trip. You should too!

Sadly, it's been getting worse. Busy. Long lines. Operators not paying attention. No shoveling to help with ice at top of lifts. Lifts closed. Food prices going up. Quality down. $48 for 2 mash potato bowls with nuggets, a drink and French fries. Told there was no ketchup. Bowling $18/person/game. I hope they pull it together. 🙏

My first skiing experience here ! Did not dare to go up the lift to the higher slopes. My regret ! The beginner slope was fun. Although fell many time. The instructors gave very good lessons. Interesting place. Love it. If u are around Pittsburgh. This is the place to go.

Seven springs over all can be pricey. Although it is the best resort in the area to challenge your skiing skills. We went this past week even though it looked like all the slopes had snow on them. Limited on slopes/trails as well as lifts. I'm not sure if it's a staff shortage or a mid week thing. We got drinks at the foggy goggle for 2 drinks about $20, we didn't get anything fancy. Our service was good. We thought about staying at the hotel but $250+ wasn't worth it for us especially when these aren't 5 star hotel rooms. ADDING TO REVIEW: went back a few weeks later ate at the foggy goggle. My favorite it the soft pretzel rods and cheese. I also got the chicken Cesar salad very good. My husband got a burger and friend got the chili and chicken fingers and fries. We also got the large nachos, definitely could feed 4 or more people. Both times we ordered our ordered were out in 15 min. Excellent service even though they were slammed.

The venue's natural beauty, attentive service, and the love and laughter that filled the air made our day truly extraordinary. For couples seeking a wedding destination that offers both stunning aesthetics and a warm, accommodating atmosphere, we wholeheartedly recommend Seven Spring.

We went camping here two weeks ago for a 2-night stay in a tent, and overall, it was a really nice experience. The views were beautiful, and the campsites were well laid out—spacious, clean, and separated enough to give each group some privacy, which we really appreciated. The restroom facilities were also surprisingly good. They were cleaned regularly and well-stocked, which made things a lot more comfortable during the stay. That said, we did run into a couple of issues. The weather was not on our side—there was a bit of rain, but the real challenge was the wind. It was pretty aggressive, around 25 mph, which made it hard to fully enjoy the lake or sit by the fire for long. On top of that, there were a ton of small caterpillars falling from the trees. They ended up on our clothes, the tent, the chairs—everywhere, really. It got a bit frustrating after a while. There was also quite a bit of pollen in the air, which didn’t help. I imagine some of this was just a matter of timing, and not something that happens year-round. Despite those hiccups, we’d still consider coming back—maybe in a different season when the weather and bugs are a little more forgiving.

Very nice park for everyone. Nice beaches, facilities, playgrounds and picnic areas. I see park police patrol the park so it means it’s a safe place to stay and enjoy the nature. The lake shore path is great for walking. Love the place.

Deep Creek Lake State Park is truly a gem in Western Maryland! We recently visited and were absolutely delighted by everything it has to offer. The lake itself is stunning, perfect for swimming, boating, and just soaking in the beautiful views. The sandy beach area is well-maintained and inviting, making it easy to relax by the water. We also loved the option to rent kayaks right on site – it's such a great way to explore the shoreline! Beyond the water activities, the hiking trails are wonderful, providing scenic paths for all skill levels. We enjoyed a peaceful walk and saw some great local wildlife. The Discovery Center is a fantastic addition, especially if you're visiting with kids. It's really interactive and educational, offering insights into the local environment and history. The park's overall facilities are excellent, including well-kept picnic areas with grills that are perfect for a day out. Whether you're planning to camp or just spend a day exploring, Deep Creek State Park offers a comfortable and enjoyable experience. This park is an ideal destination for families, outdoor enthusiasts, or anyone looking for a refreshing and beautiful getaway in nature. We can't wait to come back!

Great state park, relatively quite, but overall, the staff were absolutely fantastic. I was a late walk in due to other plans falling through and needed to recharge and refill my essentials. When I showed up they were more than willing to help me get a site. One thing I noticed is that they are absolutely on point when it comes to turning over campsites and keeping the facilities clean. Not even 5 minutes after someone checks out there is a staff member blowing leaves off the pads and raking the pads to keep it nice. They definitely run a tight ship here!

Polymath Park - Frank Lloyd Wright Overnight

Historical landmark
Tours
Complex of mid century houses, including 1 designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, plus dining & tours.
A very enjoyable trip for architecture fans, especially of Frank Lloyd Wright. An entire village dedicated to preserving unique works of residential architecture. The tour includes 4 homes and hopefully more in the near future. The Tree Top restaurant is quaint and the staff is friendly. The guides are so knowledgeable they can answer nearly every question. The homes are a stunning example of mid-fifties to early 1960s work. Most with original appliances too. Highly recommended.

I visited Polymath Park last October and it was an unforgettable experience. The house tour was absolutely stunning and inspiring. The architecture, history, and design details are breathtaking. Our guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and really brought Frank Lloyd Wright’s vision to life. Before the tour, we enjoyed wine at the Tree Tops Bar, which added the perfect touch to the day. Everything was well organized, welcoming, and exceeded expectations. I can’t recommend this experience enough. It’s a must-see for anyone who loves architecture, design, Frank Lloyd Wright, history, preservation, or simply a beautiful day out.

We learned that the property owner saved and moved Frank Llyod Wright homes to the Park. This means that you are able to visit and stay in 2 FLR homes and two other FLR style homes. The park could be described as Disney World for FLR fans! We only visited the 2 FLR homes but wished we visited them all. The tours were quick and nicely paced. We weren't overwhelmed with information that we will never remember while wishing we could sit down somewhere. The tour begins at the welcome center which has restrooms and a restaurant. There are Tesla destination chargers available at no charge. There is a 5th home in the works that has yet to be reassembled (the homes are moved from their original location to Polymath Park in shipping containers). We will be back to visit the newest home when it is finished.

We went to PA to see 3 locations of Frank Lloyd Wright houses. Polymath Park was a superior tour. Robert was our guide and since he helped move the houses he had great insights! We had a great tour and I bet the treehouse restaurant is great but we did not eat there nor did we spend the night at any at the houses.

Visited Polymath Park October 2025 and did the Complete Collection Tour. This is the tour of two homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and two homes designed by one of his students/apprentices from Taliesin. The two Frank Lloyd Wright designed homes were originally built in Minnesota and Illinois, but deconstructed, moved to this site, and reconstructed to preserve them. All four houses are unique in their own way and all very interesting/enjoyable to see. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job. Very enjoyable day and fits in well if you are planning to visit Fallingwater.

We booked an overnight stay at Polymath Park in the FLW Mantyla house for our anniversary. We started our weekend visiting Falling Water, & Kentuck Knob before our stay at Polymath Park. At the parks Treehouse Restaurant we booked a twilight dinner in one of the treehouses. They added all the special touches for our dining experience that truly made it special for the occasion. As a lover of FLW and architecture, I highly recommend staying in one of the homes in the park. We did the tour of all four homes before we left and the overnight stay is well worth the experience.

My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful in delicious dinner in the Treetops private treehouse. We loved it. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was off the charts. We loved it so much we signed up for one of their dinner tours.
Kathleen B — Google review
You can tell Tom, the owner, truly values architecture and taking care of FLW homes. He has moved and restored these homes (Duncan, Mantyla) to the original blueprints and they are beautiful examples of FLWs work. Robert the tour guide is awesome. You can tell he really loves what they're doing at Polymath Park and he is incredibly knowledgeable beyond some other FLW himes we've toured. I highly recommend the 4 house tour. We'll be going back when they rebuild FLWs son's home, Bird Wing, there in a few years!

Absolutely incredible experience! We've visited many times and decided to have our wedding reception here. Amy and her staff were amazing to work with, the tent was perfect, and the wine, oh the wine! If you're looking for a winery reception you should consider having your wedding here. Gorgeous! You won't regret it!

Before anyone reads all the prior comments and choses not to come here, read CURRENT reviews and mine. Some prior bad reviews might have been because of not so great staff which probadly aren't there anymore. I was there on a slow day. We never felt like we were a bother or interrupting. My friend and I visited here on a Tuesday, looking for someplace different for our monthly lunches. It did not disappoint ! We were graciously greeted at The Cabin by a very personable woman. She answered all questions we had about food choices and also asked if my friend had nut allergies because her pasta salad had pesto on it containing nuts. She explained which buildings had the wine, desserts and the farm store with bakery. We were headed over to get wine, so she said she'd hold off on preparing our meals to give us a chance to taste and shop. At the Greendance wine store we were greeted by Linda, the moment we opened the door. She directed us to the tasting area, explained the types of wines, offered 3 samples and was spot on in what we where looking for. We left with 2 take home bottles and one she opened for our lunch. We walked outside, chose a table and just then our food was ready. Large portions of good food !! The chicken salad croissant sandwich was a tasty, the side of potato salad was very similar to what I make, so good, too. Time for dessert even though we were stuffed. I chose cheesecake topped with raspberries and whipped cream and my friend picked blackberry pie and coffee. Again, the counter person was very nice. The coffee was going to take a moment. She told us to go sit and she brought it to to our table when it was ready. We were able to just relax and talk in the shade of the tree covered patio. So cute. It started to rain, so we never made it to the farm store and bakery, but now we have a treat for when we return again. In the 3 hours since I've been home, I've already recommended this place to 5 people. Take a drive, have some wine, a bite to eat and dessert. You should not be disappointed. We weren't !🍷

Wow what a find! We were on a family road trip and our bed and breakfast host recommended this winery. It was great! They have free tastings. We found our favorites and got a bottle to split. For the non-wine drinkers they had beer in a cooler with sodas and water as well. The little shop is super cute. The wine is reasonably priced. They had food on site as well so we opted to have dinner. Sandwiches and wraps were all great! There was live music and we had a great time. They have two really cute alpacas, so don’t miss sliding they the pin to see them. There is also a bakery on site serving pies, cheese cakes and other treats. I recommend stopping in and supporting local! This place does a great job!

This place is such a beauty! It has everything you'd want and more. We picked some flowers ($9 for 25 stems is a steal!) We got some cheesecake. We sat by orchard trees. We went into the little market. And of course we drank wonderful wine. I loved it here.

Overall: the best winery in the region - hands-down! Greendance has excellent local wine and the best atmosphere for a relaxing weekend (or whatever). Forget about the wine for a minute... there's SO MUCH MORE going on at this place. My family started going here many years ago when the winery was a relatively new addition to the already-established berry farm. You have the well-known Sandhill Berry farm with a full bakery/retail operation, the winery with an excellent and diverse selection, the FULL-TIME restaurant-quality food service including dessert, the regularly-scheduled live music and ample seating, an outdoor wedding area in the woods on the farm hillside, and a great private party location. Every time we go to Greendance, it seems like they're building something new or improving the infrastructure to facilitate more services. They were already hosting occasional top-quality dining events where they bring in outside chefs for a unique experience. But last year they built a new outdoor dining area to accommodate a full-time food service that is out-of-this-world. The quality of the food is excellent and the pricing is amazing. For about the same price as a family lunch at a chain restaurant, you can get much better fresh food here with a better atmosphere. The new dining area is like a little village. This is a great place to hang out with your friends and family. Even small children are welcome and at-home here. They can enjoy the animals and listen to the music while the adults enjoy some fine wine.

It was wet and rainy. The band had cancelled. We visited this winery, did a free tasting and then shared a bottle of red wine. Our experience was wonderful! We even bought a berry pie at Sand Hill Berries located on the property. We are looking forward to returning when the leaves change and the apples ripen.

The fall festival was wonderful. Great food. Good music. The vendors were wondering. Bought a peck of apples. There were just not enough bathrooms. No reason why they couldn't get a few portable bathrooms.
Marley M — Google review
Go for the wine, stay for lunch, dessert, and the beautiful grounds. I’m not normally a fan of fruit wines, but even I loved the Black Currant wine (which is dry) and the Red Raspberry (which was more tart than sweet). While there, have lunch from the cafe (I loved the chicken salad croissant) and get a fresh berry dessert. And bring some friends so you can split a bottle of wine (cheaper than by the glass).

Nemacolin Castle

Historical place museum
Sights & Landmarks
Castles
We love to visit Nemacolin Castle, also known as Bowman's Castle during Halloween for the candlelight ghost tours. The castle is truly haunted but all the spirits are friendly. Make sure to take a lot of pictures because you never know what you are going to see. There are also tours at Christmas time and all the rooms are decorated beautifully. There are pretty Christmas trees and lights throughout the castle. My family really enjoys the tours.
Heidi L — Google review
We loved the ghost tour, the tour guide is very personable and informative, and willing to answer any questions. She walked us thru each room and told us great detail about the paranormal happenings in each room. The tour actually went more than an hour and was well worth the $17 per person to get in. Hopefully they raise enough money to keep the place going for many years.

Interesting museum/home with many period furnishings and a rich history going back to the time of the French & Indian war. Very knowledgeable docents to provide information on each of the many rooms & artifacts

Went to the Ghost Tour. Would love to go to the historical tour too. It was a super cool tour and the Guide was great. Lots of cool sights and scary shots stories. Totally worth the entrance fee, remember what you pay probably goes right back into the care of the Castle. Sooooo worth it. Check it out.

Stopped here on a whim cause we were in the area. The grounds and the building are beautiful with quite the view. There were just 4 of us and I couldn't see spending the 20 per person to tour. Still check it out if you are into cool old buildings and like tours of said buildings. Just look at times for tours. When we were there on a Sunday it was 11, 1230, and 2.
Tommy B — Google review
Worth the visit. The castle itself has a very interesting history, but getting to walk back in time is what's truly valuable. The castle is filled with period pieces and the construction and restoration is as historically accurate as possible too. The money from ticket admission goes right back to restoration of the castle so definitely check it out so it can stay around for many generations to come.

When here for a tour with my partner not too long ago. Definitely worth the price. The guide was very experienced and the tour was very interesting. Looking forward to the ghost tours that come up in April and October. Will definitely be visiting again.
