Brandywine Falls

Park
Nature & Parks
Brandywine Falls is a picturesque 65-foot waterfall nestled in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The area offers upper and lower boardwalks with viewpoints to admire the lush gorge and cascading waters. The historic Inn at Brandywine Falls, dating back to 1848, provides an elegant Greek Revival setting overlooking the falls, making it a romantic destination. Visitors can enjoy well-maintained paths surrounded by beautiful trees and immerse their feet in the shallow river trails nearby.
Friendly people working here. Clean bathrooms. Easy hiking for kids and an incredible view of the waterfall. If you know how to appreciate nature, you’ll enjoy the trees and the sky contrasting with all the green. Nature is peace.

I went here with a very close friend and her son. We had a great time following the trails near the falls. We plan to visit again when it's warmer and we can hit other areas of the valley.
Christopher O — Google review
A beautiful close-up view of the falls! You don’t need to hike—just a few steps from the parking area. I actually wanted to see the fall colors, but by November 1st, most of the leaves had already fallen.
Suresh M — Google review
Beautiful water fall.very pretty.cool walking/hiking trails, but wear very comfortable ahoes, bring a walking stick, plenty of water and a sweat rag.Uneven walking paths.Could be a trip and fall hazard.lots of tree roots coming up from the ground, lots of rocks, steps, stairs.NOT RECOMMENDED for people with hip, leg, knee, ankle, foot and back problems! LOTS of walking.Wearing a hat with a visor or ball cap is recommended! If you love nature and being in the woods, this is the place for you,its beautiful! There are picnic tables to sit and have lunch, shady areas and clean bathrooms.PARKING is pretty rough during peak hours, like on Holidays and weekends.Plenty to see! Dogs are more than welcome but must be on a leash. So,have a good time and enjoy yourself. It will be fun and IS worth the trip!
Mike W — Google review
Amazing waterfall. There are a few paths that take you near the Falls, one in front and one above. Neither one is a very long walk. Highly recommend checking this out if you visit the park. Parking is very limited so probably better to go early, I got lucky and someone was leaving when I was looking for a spot.
Inspiration87 — Google review
This is an absolutely beautiful place! We hiked the Brandywine loop with our 2 and 4 year old. It wasn't too difficult although with toddlers it did take over an hour. They loved the waterfall and all the stairs!
Jennifer Y — Google review
The falls were in full force today after the recent rains. Brandywine Falls are a hilight to visiting the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The falls gets crowded on weekends but there were not that many people on a Friday afternoon. It is a short hike to the falls. If you go to the lower viewing platform, you need to navigate two sets of stairs, about 32 steps each. Great views from both the top and lower platform.
Steve K — Google review
It's a fun walk down and a looooong walk up. Plan for it. Took that bike path up thinking there would be less branches and roots and rocks to walk over but... up up up up up is not any easier. BTW... I'm in my 70's.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Cuyahoga Valley National Park, spanning 33,000 acres between Cleveland and Akron, offers a diverse range of outdoor activities. The park features numerous hiking trails, bike paths, and a scenic railroad for visitors to explore its stunning landscapes. With the Cuyahoga River running through it, the park provides picturesque views and opportunities to spot wildlife such as deer and bald eagles. Additionally, history enthusiasts can visit the historic Brecksville Reservation within the park's boundaries.
One of the best national parks I have visited recently. While I was looking to spend a day in Cleveland and my decision to go here was 100% worth. Please start with the visitor center and the senior volunteer Robert was simply awesome! He gave the map and guided me on where to start based on the time I have left for the day... Falls, Ledges are a must-see... Take a look at the map, photos I have attached for your reference.
Gopal K — Google review
There is no shortage of trails that can be combined to see new and favorite sites, long or short. There are many challenging trails as well as easier ones. Many sights can only be experienced from the park, pictures and roadside views do not do it justice.
Timothy P — Google review
We love this National Park and plan to return again. All the hikes were amazing and our kids absolutely loved it This National Park was surprisingly nice. We really enjoyed the Brandywine falls and the loop hike. Lots of beautiful things to view, especially this time of year with all of the colors and amazing riverwalking and Rock skipping possibilities.
Ben S — Google review
Beautiful park. Amazing environment, great trails pretty much everywhere. Set aside a full day to hit a few places around the park and hike a few of the trails and it did not disappoint. Blue Hen Falls was incredible. The Ledges Trail was amazing. Brandywine Falls was beautiful. Even Kendall Lake and Beaver Marsh were really cool, saw a bunch of wildlife at them.
Inspiration87 — Google review
I’d say it’s one of the smaller national parks compared to the ones I’ve visited before, but it actually has so much to offer! From scenic falls and trails to hikes within the valley, there’s a lot packed into this place—especially beautiful during the fall season.
Suresh M — Google review
Enjoyed the train ride, stopped at Peninsula, saw the little town, had lunch and walked the towpath. Visited Boston Mill Visitor Center and the Canal Exploratiotow path on other days - both were interesting and informative. The towpath is smooth and level for walking, running, biking and dog walking.
Brenda C — Google review
We really had a great time here! Scenic views, comfortable train ride, pleasant staff… Everyone was just in a great mood, enjoying the scenery and the ride and the company they were with. Highlyr ecommended and I would definitely do it again!
Jason H — Google review
This park was nice. We were able to see what we wanted in 1 day. It was August so waterfalls weren’t as brilliant as they are after a rain! The park is very spread out intermingled with highways. We LOVED the Ledges trail. Most of the trails are easy and a short walk from trailhead to the highlight. A great park if you like to bike!!

Akron Civic Theatre

Performing arts theater
Concerts & Shows
The Akron Civic Theatre, a restored 1929 movie palace, offers a captivating experience for visitors. The theater's design is reminiscent of a Moorish castle and features Mediterranean decor, medieval carvings, European antiques, and Italian alabaster sculptures. One of its most enchanting aspects is the auditorium ceiling adorned with twinkling stars and moving projected clouds, creating an illusion of an outdoor performance under the night sky.
What a great venue! This is a very historic location and very well maintained. An awesomely ornate interior. We were here for a concert from Herman's Hermits Starring Peter Noone and enjoyed every minute. The staff were friendly and extremely accommodating.
Vic B — Google review
Went for the Pink Floyd tribute band's charity concert for the Akron Children's Palliative Care Unit.. Great place. So much history there. Every single person that worked there was BEYOND nice and accommodating. We stopped on the main stairs case for a few pictures on our way out and a sweet lady offered to get one of all of us. She actually got like, 4 of them for me!!! It was super appreciated that she just came up and offered to do it for us!! The ushers were great, even the security at the doors were way nice. Totally can't say a bad thing about the place except maybe that it could have been a little cooler inside.. Bathrooms were very clean. They also have some super old furniture in the hallways that is really neat to see... Definitely would go back for another event. Thank you, Akron Civic Theatre!!!
Amy B — Google review
Wow, this place is gorgeous! It's a great spot for shows. Parking is nearby and simple, it's in a central location, and it's easier to get in and out of than other theaters I've been to. The stars are one of my favorite things about this place!
Marie T — Google review
Just saw Neil Zaza's One Dark Night at the theater. It was my first time there, and I definitely will attend shows there again! great staff as well! so very nice and helpful. A truly beautiful venue! It was like walking back in time 90 years. A wonderfully restored architectural gem!
Richard L — Google review
A beautiful venue for a wonderful concert! They have done an excellent job keeping this historic building in excellent form. The ushers and other employees were all kind and helpful. Will definitely return given the opportunity.
Joe L — Google review
Nice venue with a great sound system and cool decor. The stage can be seen from mostly any seat or section. Venue is a good size. The seats need to be updated to a more durable material. They were imbedded with years of lint so it made them look dirty. Bathrooms were large, clean and had a ton of stalls. Their is a parking garage right across the street. We saw a concert on Sunday and it was free to park in the garage. Quick and easy getting in and out of the venue. Staff was courteous and welcoming.
T W — Google review
The theater itself is very cool but needs a little love. It has a ton of character though. The show I seen I was not impressed. Loved the venue.

Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is a stunning historic estate that offers visitors a glimpse into Akron's rich heritage. Once the home of F.A. Seiberling, co-founder of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, this magnificent Tudor Revival Manor House boasts 65 rooms filled with about 95% of its original furnishings, making it a rare gem from the Gilded Age. Set on 70 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and gardens, the estate also features a Gothic Revival Conservatory.
Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens is truly one of Northeast Ohio’s most breathtaking wedding venues. Over the last decade, I’ve photographed more than a dozen weddings on these grounds, and every time I return, I’m reminded why this place is so special. It blends historic elegance with natural beauty—offering a romantic, storybook setting that feels both grand and deeply intimate. From the European-inspired architecture to the curated gardens and quiet paths, every corner of the estate offers timeless backdrops that elevate a couple’s wedding day and allow their love story to shine. The staff here is equally remarkable. From seamless logistics and guest care to thoughtful touches like coolers of water on warm days or umbrellas during rain, the Stan Hywet team always makes sure the day runs with grace. They pour so much heart into each celebration, and it never goes unnoticed. One of my favorite places to photograph is the English Garden—a hidden gem enclosed by stone walls, filled with soft natural light, statues, water features, and a feeling of magic. It’s perfect for portraits that feel ethereal and cinematic, yet grounded in real emotion. If you're drawn to refined romance, heritage architecture, and elevated, garden-inspired celebrations, Stan Hywet is a dream venue. I absolutely love photographing weddings here and would be honored to continue serving couples who choose to say "I do" in such an unforgettable place.
Loren J — Google review
This was my second time visiting Stan Hywet, and it honestly gets better each time. No matter how many times you go, you always notice something new—whether it’s a detail in the house or something blooming in the gardens. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable, and you can tell they really care about the history of the estate. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and such a peaceful place to walk through. It’s also easy to see why so many people choose it for weddings—it’s truly a stunning backdrop.
Geared B — Google review
We went to the Ohio Mart at Stan Hywet. What an incredible day! For 50 plus years the market has been selling premiere artisan works and this year did not disappoint. Such a beautiful setting for the Market. Plenty of restrooms, food options. Drink options are limited and a little pricey. Parking is off site with plenty of buses running to overflow spots. Loved this place!
S. P — Google review
My husband and I visited on the self guided tour. The entire estate is impressive. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. So much to see and history to absorb. We were unable to see a small portion of the gardens due to wedding ceremonies taking place, but were not bothered by it. The grounds are beautifully kept. It was nice to go at our own pace. We spent 4-5 hrs exploring and taking SO many pictures.
Chantal S — Google review
This is a beautiful mansion. The historic home and grounds are well preserved. I attended my niece’s wedding on a Saturday. It was held outdoors under a tent. I actually attended an indoor wedding there thirty years ago for the bride’s father. It would be a five star if entry into the property was not such an ugly scene. Our bus driver was following specific written, mapped out instructions and was curtly turned away by a Stan Hyatt attendant (who was wrong). We did finally get in, but it was an ugly way to start a joyous celebration. The employees inside were gracious and welcoming. Guests were allowed to tour the first floor. It’s an amazing place.
Pamela A — Google review
I enjoyed my first visit ever to Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens during this year’s Ohio Mart which encompassed much of the grounds in their food court and art vendor displays. It was a great opportunity for a self tour of the estate and grounds while enjoying bits of fall and the festival too. Remarkable historical home and gardens - I so appreciated a peek back in history with the fact that 95% of furnishings are original on the estate.
Stacey G — Google review
When I was in elementary, my class took a field trip to Stan Hywet Hall. Typically the field trips we did have I wasn’t all that fascinated, but I remember when we arrived, my class was very creeped out by it looking haunted. For once it was a field trip that felt like it was all for me. After that day, I forced my mom to take me again, over and over and over. Little me looked at my mom and said “mommy if a boy ever ends up loving me enough, I’m totally getting married here” about 15 years later, a boy did end up loving me enough. The staff went above and beyond for us. My husband and I are so happy we will always be able to say this was our venue.
Carleine — Google review
A quite beautiful place to visit. The home itself is amazing - hard to imagine living in such opulence, and it was 1915! The home is well maintained, as a museum piece. The tour was fascinating - I will need to go back for the "nooks and crannies tour" to be allowed past the velvet ropes! The grounds are excellent as well, with awesome flower beds in bloom.

Nestled in the heart of Akron, Ohio, the Akron Zoo is a delightful 50-acre haven that has been captivating visitors since its opening in 1953. With over 1,000 animals representing more than 100 species, this vibrant zoo offers an immersive experience for animal lovers of all ages. The facility features six themed areas that showcase wildlife from various regions and biomes around the globe.
This is a really nice little zoo for the whole family. We had a great time. It is very well laid out. The walk is very easy, even though there are slight hills. I've been to quite a few big zoos but found animals here that I haven't seen before. The dinosaur animatronics were really cool. Some of the best I've seen. I definitely recommend this zoo if you're in the area.
Charles S — Google review
I love this zoo! It’s very well laid out with plenty of room for the animals and the visitors. I enjoyed the 50% off Veteran discount. The prices are already reasonable. There were lots of school groups who were learning from the highly qualified zookeepers there. I was especially excited to see a red panda. The lions were also impressive. They had some beautiful primates as well.
Pamela A — Google review
Small zoo. Good for little ones. Free parking. I got ticket/passes from my library for admission. A lot of bird exhibits...wish they had more bigger animals. They have a nice little water splash zone to cool off. Cool clear slide in otter exhibit
Ashley A — Google review
The Akron Zoo has come up over the last couple of years. I told the whole family the other day, and we all had fun. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were very clean and the exhibits were in amazing shape.
Alex — Google review
It was a good day. Not the biggest zoo, however they did amazing with the room that they have. I wouldn't call it small either. They have a conservation effort for nearly or all the animals that they have. There's also a beautiful place to sit and rest. All the animals look happy and healthy 😊
Christopher R — Google review
Boo at the Akron Zoo! What a fun experience. Reasonable rates. 10 stations with candy. Animals that look well taken care of. Cool pumpkin carvings. Food is good. Pepsi products! We will be back!
Tom T — Google review
Great little zoo, especially for young children. Stroller and wheelchair accessible but there is a decent sized hill to get to the bears. Takes about an hour and a half or so to get through whole zoo. If it's hot out, most animals will be inside or hiding so plan accordingly! Nice sized dining area. We went during their dinosaur exhibit!
Alyse P — Google review
It was a fun experience but they didn’t have the 3 major big animals that I was hoping to see. Which were the Bear,Tiger and lion and no pandas. Kind of disappointed in that so I probably won’t go again. This was my first time here in 15 years. I got some pretty good pictures of the smaller animals but honestly it wasn’t that worth it. It was ok

Clay's Resort Jellystone Park in North Lawrence, OH

Water & Amusement Parks
Clay's Resort Jellystone Park in North Lawrence, OH offers a relaxed lakeside experience with camping and cabins. The 500-acre wonderland is perfect for families, providing opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, relax by the lake, or immerse in nature. The Adventure Waterpark features thrilling water slides, canoe and kayak rentals, and a sand volleyball court. Families can spend an entire day at the lake enjoying activities like barrel rolls and zip-lining into the water.
This place was such a treat! It was way more than we expected! I called with questions more than once about booking and everyone was so polite and helpful. Really kind workers. The entire park is super clean. Family friendly and we had a fabulous time! We loved the lake and all it had to offer with climbers slides, a diving board, kayaking and paddle boarding. The splash pad was quite big for the really little ones. There is a kids zero entry pool with slides, water guns and and obstacle course. There is also a family pool and an adult only hot tub. There are more than enough tables, chairs and loungers in each area. There was also a really nice mini golf course, bounce pad and playground. The general store was really cute and well stocked. The food was good and all reasonably priced which is rare now. Restrooms and common areas are spotless! Great place that we will be going back to regularly.
Nicole K — Google review
We absolutely love spending family time here! The park is clean and well laid out. We really enjoy riding the golf carts as the park is really big but we also enjoy just riding around in the evening looking at all the sites. We enjoy swimming the most. There is a place for the little ones, the teenagers and the adults. You really can't beat it. A life jacket is required in the lake area with the inflatables, but there's also a section of lake that doesn't require them. There is a rooftop bar overlooking the lake. Our only complaint is the prices have doubled, for example our drinks went from 4 dollars to 10! A little ridiculous 🙄
Sheila M — Google review
It's expensive to get in, but there's lots to do! The staff is very friendly, exceptionally so, and I think they have a good balance of rules/safety while still allowing guests to enjoy themselves. The lake offers a lot of adults or older kids and the water park is a blast for the younger guests. The downsides are the hours are very short -- you pay $40 per person and the water is only open noon till 7pm. However, we take advantage of the mini golf after the water areas close, which is a great option. Also during our visit, the swimming pool was cloudy and didn't smell especially clean... I'm not sure if that's common place or not. Also, I wish there were more areas for changing rooms for day pass guests who didn't camp there. Overall, lots of fun.
Catherine W — Google review
This summer has been amazing at Clay’s. Was everything perfect, I have to say yes! The staff including Matt, Tonya and Sonya at the pool made my sunny days even better. Do I wish they didn’t sell 10000 day passes? Sure but those day passes help pay the bills. Do I wish they would fill in some potholes, sure but it makes everyone drive slower. We contemplating leaving to be closer to home but there really isn’t any other camp grounds that compare! I am grateful that I can be here and I am grateful that the staff here all work hard to make our weekend vacations the best!
Beth C — Google review
We had a great time at Clay's Resort Jellystone! The campground was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The general store had a great selection of merchandise and we enjoyed the roof top bar and restaurants. This is a VERY LARGE campground, which is both good and bad. The water attractions are open to the public as well as campers, so it can get very crowded on the weekends. (We stayed Sunday-Sunday, and everything was crowded but manageable until Friday night into Saturday.) The swimming lake and swimming pool enact a safety break for 15 minutes every hour. While I understand the necessity of breaks, this is a little excessive. With the crowds, it makes using the Wibits on the swimming lake more challenging. Several times, one or more people in our group were just getting started on one of those attractions when the break was called, and then had to start over after the break. It also seems extremely unnecessary for a 3 foot pool to need to be evacuated every 15 minutes. During those times, it could be "swim at your own risk" (or since there were always 2 life guards on duty, their breaks could be altered so one of them is on duty at all times). I would absolutely recommend this campground, but the above are way that they could definitely improve.
Becky D — Google review
RIP-OFF... Don't expect much for their inflated campsite prices. We made reservations way in advance of our trip only to find they gave it to someone else because we didn't pay the $35 extra fee to "lock" in our reserved date! We did not care for the unlevel site they reasigned us to and then wanted $35 for us to switch to a different more level site nearby. What a rip-off! Many campers and even some employees were commenting on how much things have gone downhill since being sold to the current big corporation. BEWARE! Obviously we will never go back again and promise to tell our camping friends to stay away too. In response to the reply about their automatic reservation system? A reservation is a reservation! Thats why its called a "reservation". Their extra $35 fee is BS Nothing but extra profit for the big corporation. This was OFF SEASON for one thing. The park was over half empty except for the seasonal campers. Nonsense!
Greg S — Google review
Stayed here with my family over Labor Day Weekend. We stayed in an eight person cabin up in the 800 area. We lost water on and off in the cabin all throughout the weekend. We lost it Saturday morning/afternoon for several hours. The cabins around us were also having the same issues. We called and went to the office several times without ever receiving an explanation. The worst was on Monday, we lost water and electricity for the entire morning. My mom went to the office and the lady was extremely rude to her and didn't care. These cabins are pretty pricey so I felt like this was unacceptable. Such a shame and I won't be back.
Lindsay C — Google review
This was our first trip to Clay's Resort, and we had a great time. We stayed at one of the lakeside cabins and rented a golf cart for our entire stay. The Campground was clean and well taken care of, and the activities were awesome. From the swimming lake with all the cool obstacles, the pool, the water park, and all the other things to do it kept our boy's ages15 and 12 very busy. The rooftop bar was cool and gave us a chance to unwind a bit while the kids played in the water. The weather was perfect for our visit, so we did not get to the game room or really do any of the indoor activities. We did go to the on site restaurant for the breakfast buffet, and for a late lunch one day. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was good. The fishing was a little slow but the boys did catch some catfish, bluegill, bass, and a pretty big softshell turtle. We had a good time and plan to go back for another long weekend later in the year, we even picked out our next cabin rental. This time the boy's want to bring their bicycles, and a couple friends.

Mapleside Farms

Apple orchard in a quaint country setting with event spaces for weddings, receptions & concerts.
1st time here Great venue. open seating. Bring a chair to sit in or stand. ( sitting for several hours vs standing is better ) Plenty of food trucks with different options. They offer a summer concert every Friday. Summer pass is then $50 . free parking and even a shuttle service to the back parking lot.

Although a hidden gem in my younger years, I'm so glad that it's not a hidden gem now. Whether it be a daily occurrence like this visit was the other night. A special event, a concert and as we all know, lovely, fall time here, amazing place.
Jeff M — Google review
I recently attended the "Vino the Way" event at Mapleside Farms and had a great time! The event kicked off with a fun tractor ride to the corn maze, which was a unique and enjoyable experience. The five tasting stations could have offered a bit more variety in wine and beer selections, but the staff at each station were friendly, entertaining, and very helpful. After the tastings, we explored the Pumpkin Village. It has a good mix of activities for both adults and children, making it a perfect spot for families. We also shopped at the apple store, which had a great selection of farm-fresh apples from the orchard. Additionally, we tried the new "Bloom" bakery. The ladies at the bakery were extremely friendly, and everything from cupcakes to bread tasted great. I especially appreciated that the desserts were not overly sweet. However, I didn't notice any prices on the baked goods, so I would recommend displaying them better in the future.

This is one of the better fall spots to visit with an array of activities and fun filled events. We enjoyed everything we had the opportunity to try. There is an awesome super sized slide that is totally worth it. Great family fun!

What a beautiful place for concerts! The staff is amazing as are those who run the food/beverage trucks! In fall they offer amazing fun for the whole family. A must see and do!

This is a nice family experience the big slide was huge hit with the kids and the pig race was sooo cute cant wait to check it out again in the summer but it was absolutely beautiful for the fall

We’ve been doing the Vino the Way (corn maze with wine/beer and charcuterie) for 4 years now. It’s always a blast and we will keep this tradition alive as long as we can. The wine/beer samples are always delicious and there’s additional snacks and fresh donuts that can be purchased (highly recommend the fresh donuts!).

This place was awesome! We went with my husband's work. We had a pig roast buffet in the fancy barn. Then we and some of our kids and grandkids went down the slide, rode some rides, watched the swine races and too much more to name. It was a blast! This is a great place!!

Castle Noel

Mentioned on

Museum
Christmas store
Castle Noel is a captivating and ever-evolving destination that offers a wide array of unique events and attractions. From Hawaiian Luaus to the Christmas museum, gift shop, and Alien Golf, there's always something new to experience. While souvenirs may be on the pricier side, the overall tour price is justified by the sheer amount of things to see. Visitors can even get their picture taken with Santa at an affordable rate.
Castle Noel is an absolute blast. It's so much fun and you will see something from your favorite christmas movie. It does not matter what movie you like they have something from it. You will feel like a kid again here. This is a must do when you are in cleveland. Forget the christmas story house. Come see a castle. Buying tickets ahead is a must. Tour groups are limited to 14 people, and they depart roughly every 30 minutes. The tour guides are super fun. Be warned though it is a 2 hour walking tour. Plan accordingly. It's great for kids and families and older adults. Everyone will enjoy this place. Also, Dwight is an amazing tour guide. I have had him twice now and is absolutely the best.

Visited this amazing place today - and we highly recommend it for not only Christmas lovers but also for anyone that is a Christmas movie buff, and those that love art and theatre! Our guide Tim was fantastic and truly made the tour come to life! We had a great time strolling down memory lane with the “toys of yesteryear” and it was fun hearing folks get excited as they pointed out their childhood favorites. Visiting Castle Noel was a highlight of our visit to the Cleveland area. Thank you Tim!!!

My son and I were visiting from Tampa and took the tour through Castle Noel. I would highly recommend this experience to everyone! If you love Christmas, this is the place for you! And if you’re a Scrooge, you need to go because you will leave there loving Christmas! 😊 I wish we had something like this in Florida but I feel this is truly a one of a kind experience! Thank you to Mr and Mrs Klaus for your hard work and pure love that you obviously put into this place. It’s breathtakingly beautiful and will warm the coldest of hearts. Worth every penny!! 🎄🎄

Castle Noel was such a fun and unique experience! It really feels like stepping into a Christmas movie. The decorations, lights, and displays are so detailed, and there’s something to look at around every corner. It’s one of those places that brings out your inner kid — you can’t help but smile the whole time. Definitely worth checking out, and a perfect spot to visit with family or friends. Wear comfortable shoes there’s a lot of walking and standing!

We had an awesome time at Castle Noel! Loved all the displays and toys. You can truly see how much time, love, and Christmas spirit has been put into this place. A huge shout out to Bill for making our tour fun!
Rose G — Google review
Several improvements and more finished displays since our last visit a few years ago. It's a 90 minute or so guided tour with many photos, toys, and games from the 1950s and 1960s, and one-of-a-kind artifacts from TV shows, movies, and New York department store windows. A very unique place you should visit once for a trip down Christmas memories lane.
Jim B — Google review
Impressive collection of movie memorabilia and window displays. Enjoyed the tour and all the scenery. We went on a weekday in November with plenty of free parking. Met the owner who presented on his newest project. A good experience. Buy tickets in advance or you may regret trying your luck to get in otherwise
My G — Google review
Me and my friend went today and had the absolute best experience! We loved all of our guides and how fun they made the experience. But we wanted to shout out Bill who absolutely made our visit. He did such a wonderful job, was so friendly and we could not say better things about him. We would genuinely come back just to see him! If you see this Bill we thought you guys were pretty cool too :) this place is close to home but everyone should get that experience. I applaud all of the staff and everyone behind all of it because it is unlike anything else you will ever see. Thank you all again!

Breitenbach Wine Cellars

Winery
Food & Drink
Lush winery offering tours & tastings of its own wines, plus a lunchtime cafe with salads & pizzas.
Love this winery! The property was gorgeous. They had live music in the barn. Wine slushies and plenty of other varieties to choose from. You can have a wine tasting in the main room. They are also building another building up on the hill. I'm not sure what it will be, but the view from up there was also stunning. We will have to go back when it opens.
Dena W — Google review
If their tasting area was larger I’d give them 5 stars. However, when it gets busy they limit you to 4 small samples and they only had 6 standing tables for sampling. They do have lots of food but we only had crackers to cleanse the palate. They have many more wines than other wineries. Definitely something for everyone.
Liz L — Google review
Fun place! We are in our fifties and stopped here for a wine tasting. Decor was unique, comfortable, and very clean. Wines were unique, and mostly sweet. We visited on a Monday in the late afternoon and it was not crowded at all. Staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable.
Tom D — Google review
Stepping into this winery is an experience in pure relaxation; the quiet and serene atmosphere encourages you to slow down and truly savor the moment. This winery is one of a few businesses in the area that are open on Sundays which is a great bonus. We started our visit by sampling a few wines before settling on a bottle of their delicious Cabernet Sauvignon. We also ordered some of their delightful flatbreads, which were a perfect complement to the wine. My husband enjoyed a wonderful wine tour led by the founder's grandson, who shared the history of this true family business with passion. You can feel the love and care put into every aspect of the winery. We were made to feel like part of the family, and we left feeling completely rejuvenated.

Best Winery ever and tasting room us such a delight. Mindy was fantastic at getting our tasting shots, friendly along with very nice to all the customers waiting for tastings. Fabulous little German winery off the beaten path for sure. We went during the week to avoid the crowds and to enjoy the pleasan6winery without all the people. Numerous wines to select from so you can't go wrong as there is definitely some wine flavor for everyone for sure. Went with my sister, and we truly enjoyed our time there with Mindy selecting so many different ones to taste. Mindy had us try a mystery wine she selected for us, and to our amazement, it was so tasty to top it off. We ended up with a german reisling, peach, and plum fruit wine. They had a great selection of wine gifts, too. We ended up with shirts, glasses, and coasters. Wine prices were so reasonable, along with supporting a locally-owned winery that's been in business since 1980. It's definitely a winery tou don't want to miss, so take a drive for maybe 25 minutes and see Mindy for a tasting.

Recently visited Breitenbach Wine Cellars in Dover, OH, and I must say, it was an experience worth every moment! From the moment we walked in, the welcoming atmosphere and the scent of wine filled the air, setting the tone for a memorable visit. The wine selection was impressive, offering a variety of flavors that catered to every palate, and the cheese pairings were absolutely divine – a true testament to their quality and selection. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly, providing insights into each wine we tasted. The serene environment, combined with the stunning views of Amish country, made for a peaceful and enjoyable afternoon. I highly recommend Breitenbach Wine Cellars to anyone passing through the area or looking for a lovely day out. A hidden gem in the heart of Ohio! 🍷🧀 #WineLovers #BreitenbachExperience

The best show I have ever seen anywhere was the 2:00 show of The Sound of Music! The cast sang so wonderfully well that I had tears running down my face. The music was excellent and well directed. Guggisberg Cheese

Cheese shop
Sights & Landmarks
Farms
Guggisberg Cheese Shop has a very nice selection of delicious cheeses, made on site in their cheese kitchen. Nice stop on route 557 on the way to Charm, Ohio. The ladies working the cheese boards will let you try as many cheeses as you want. We bought four cheeses including Baby Swiss, Vintage Select Emmental, Pepper Jack, and Thunder Jack. Highly recommend all 4 of these!

This is a must see when you visit the Amish! They have the best baby Swiss cheese I’ve ever tasted. Others make baby Swiss, but it doesn’t come close! Plan a day and time when their factory is making cheese and you can watch through the glass window.

Worth the drive. Great cheese! Lots of choices and lots of other goodies - cuckoo clocks, beer steins, and other cool stuff. (best Swiss cheese I've ever tasted!)

Bought the large slice pepperoni for my pizza with shitake mushrooms and smoked gouda pizza, great taste. Also bought the baby Swiss and pepper jack cheeses. Both cheeses had a nice tang or sharpness that tastes better than other cheeses. I would certainly buy these items again if sold in Northeast Ohio. I took a 2 hr drive to visit the Guggisberg store.

When my sister and I visit the Amish country, this little store is one that we always visit. It has some very unique cheeses along with several other treats. Stop by and check it out for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Hershberger's Farm and Bakery

Bakery
Hershberger's Farm and Bakery is a charming destination in Amish Country that offers a delightful experience for travelers. Visitors can enjoy house-baked Amish goods, seasonal produce, and handcrafted items while exploring the petting zoo with a variety of well-cared-for animals. The farm also offers unique experiences such as Amish buggy rides and horseback riding.
Great stop! Huge selection of healthy mums and pumpkins. Bakery counter line was long. Lots of offerings in the store such as soup starters, noodles, spices, fresh produce. Peach Cider slushy was surprisingly good. Separate building with wood and leather products. Worthwhile stop.
Heather — Google review
Me and my husband truly enjoyed a Saturday afternoon at the farm! We didn't get to do everything that we wanted to do because the lines in the market where so long and there were so many groceries to buy! The gift shop was very nice as well, I went on there for a leather belt and left with that and a purse 🤣 grab the family, enjoy the drive, and experience what farm life has in store for you!
L E — Google review
A great family oriented place especially for the kids to experience a visit with farm animals. Plenty of great food shopping for fresh meats, fruit, jams jellies candy, flowers and more. Hershbergers Farm offers some amazing and fresh food products and bakery items at fair prices. Always busy with loads of parking. they have a food trailer on site for breakfast or a burgers and more. The only continued disappointment with this place is the poor restroom facilities. You would expect with such a huge complex that handles thousands of people per year that the management with offer especially the older folks a better place to use than the current awful bathroom and the porta potties. So if you make a stop beware.... Wife and i visit 2x times per year for their great food items.
Greg S — Google review
We love everything about this farm! The bakery is amazing, the food you can buy, the fall decor like the pumpkins and other items are the icing on the cake. There are other activities you can do here as well. We have been on a buggy ride and the driver was amazing. We also did the pumpkin patch ride to pick our own pumpkins and it was really fun too. Our kids really enjoyed it. It’s always one of our main stops while we are visiting!
B M — Google review
We took the whole crew out to Hershberger’s—kids, grandparents, and all—and had such a great time. This place is a perfect family stop if you're in the area. The petting zoo is the main attraction, and it did not disappoint. Our kids loved feeding the goats, petting the bunnies, and seeing the giant horse (Big Ben is no joke). It’s a great way for little ones to get up close with animals in a clean, safe, and fun environment. We didn’t eat while we were there, but we did pop into the market and picked up some fresh produce. Everything looked great, and the prices were reasonable. It’s got that classic, small-town charm you hope for in Amish Country—nothing fancy, just friendly people and quality goods. If you’re traveling with family, especially with grandparents in tow, this is a spot worth visiting. It’s relaxed, engaging for all ages, and full of those simple joys that make for great memories.
Ryan S — Google review
One of our favorite places to visit in Holmes County! There is an on-site bakery with lots of treats to purchase for $1. They also make popcorn in a kettle over an open fire, sell handmade leather goods produced on site, textiles and wooden toys. If you love farm animals, there are goats on the barn roof, large and small farm animals and even some exotic animals to see. It is run by Amish folk. They also have a great selection of bulk spices, grocery items, and some pies and produce. The country drive is worth every penny you’ll spend on fuel! Don’t miss this country gem!
Ashley J — Google review
If you want beautiful fresh produce, nice selection of pies and other goodies in an organized clean and well maintained store, then this is the store for you. Fresh smelling produce before you enter the store, like I've never seen. The Amish people know how to grow and sell their goods supremely well. They've got it down to an art. I can respect the time effort and diligence it takes to do the work they do. They do not skrimp on anything they do. The stores all over Amish country delight and amaze. There is so much to see. Also here are horse and buggy rides. I would like to try out if I get the chance to come here again. Also there is a petting zoo here.
Claudette E — Google review
Has become a huge success over the years. Petting zoo Expansion has become the highlight. We've been coming for years and love it more each time. Plenty to do, bring the kids and make memories.

Pine Tree Barn

Furniture store
Sights & Landmarks
Upscale lunch fare served in a country complex that also features a furnishings & gifts boutique.
We purchased a great deal of furniture at PTB recently. The experience could not have been better. Their prices were substantially better than their competitors in Akron Ohio for the same pieces. We also worked with a wonderful designer, Dean Gerbasi. He understood design, colors and fabrics better than anyone we worked with during our shopping trips. Finally, no furniture company has taken the effort during delivery to cover everything and ensure nothing was nicked or scratched. The experience was amazing and we will be back.

⸻ My husband and I stopped at Pine Tree Barn while on an anniversary road trip down to Belleville, and it was such a wonderful experience! From the moment we walked in, all the ladies there were so welcoming and kind. We enjoyed a delicious lunch - everything was fresh and flavorful, but the lemon mint tea was truly to die for. The atmosphere is charming with beautiful views that made our visit even more special. We could easily see this being the perfect spot for a group of ladies, a Mother’s Day outing, or a relaxing afternoon with friends. On top of that, they have a huge selection of high-quality furniture and home décor. Pine Tree Barn is definitely on our list of must-do stops whenever we’re in the area. Five stars all the way!

This was a family outing for shopping and lunch. Pine Tree Barn has such great food and service. Today, they were shorthanded so things took a little longer. But this is a fun place to shop so we did not mind.

Pine tree farm, furniture/decoration shop and restaurant. My wife spends hours and dollars here. The restaurant is wonderful. They have multiple daily specials so every visit is unique. The view out the window of a lake and rolling tree filled hills is beautiful especially in the fall. The restaurant is always busy so make reservations. Give yourself an hour or two.

A fun cross between a country store and home store. It also has a small restaurant with good service, a country atmosphere, and a fairly simple menu.

Very quaint place. Food was delicious (chicken wrap, onion soup and ham and chicken crepes, raspberry cream pie) Beautiful shop with so many beautiful things to look at and buy (think Cracker Barrel lobby). We lunched on the back porch/deck. It was very hot (no cross breeze). Our server was a doll and she fixed one minor issue with our meal. Beautiful views. The clientele was a distinguished mature crowd.

What started out as a Christmas tree farm has turned into so much more. At the Pine Tree Barn it’s Christmas year round. At least it is in the gift shop! But it is more than just a Christmas store. The shop is housed in a converted 1800s barn and sells all kinds of specialty items as well as furniture. If you visit…be sure to stop in the back of the store and eat at their quaint restaurant. Because the weather was perfect, we asked to sit outside to enjoy the view while eating our soup and sandwich. But the highlight of lunch was the homemade dessert options. We opted for the Crumb Lemon Muffins; they were fantastic. I highly recommend after the gift shop visit, you take a stroll out back to check out the gazebo, Christmas trees and lake. Such beautiful scenery. It makes for a wonderful lunch outing!

Love love it here! Can't wait to go back when it's nice out to enjoy the property. It is gorgeous. Cute little shop areas with all sorts of goodies. Ate lunch in the cafe. The French onion soup was delicious, the salad and white French dressing was so yummy. The best was my lemon muffin. Still warm and the lemon flavor was amazing! The furniture isba little too pricey for me but some unique pieces. Came back for mother's day weekend. The food was just as excellent but the view even more breathtaking. My mom truly enjoyed herself. Just love it here!

Findley State Park, located in Wellington, Ohio, is a popular outdoor recreational destination offering a variety of activities for visitors. The 838-acre park features a 93-acre lake where guests can enjoy fishing, boating, and swimming. Additionally, there are over 16 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails to explore. The park also boasts a Nature Center providing information about the park's history and wildlife.
I needed a camping trip to get away from home. This was a great choice. We did some hiking on the trails. The park is decorated for Halloween. We were able to get a full hookup site 247. There are just a few of them, but it's end of season so we were able to get the only one open. Most sites are just electric or primitive boondocks. Water is available in specific spots around the campground. There is a lake and kayak or canoe rentals. We don't do that,so I don't know what the price is. Friendly staff. Pets are welcome except in the three cabins. Playground looks fun. There is even a tether ball. I would camp here again. We bought a state park book to plan other state park visits. The showers are clean. There is a laundry room with 2 washer and 2 dryer. Currently $1.50 per each machine. Some pit toilets in the park. The shower room has flush toilets. We had a pleasant stay

Ok this is the place I learned how to swim this is where my mom learned my grandparents have been going there since the late 1940's. I honestly can't describe what it's like to go back and visit it. It's almost like a old family friend but during fall is when magic happens the leaves are changing and make a blanket on the ground that's beautiful. Looking out over the water and seeing the wild life looking back is an incredible feeling. It's one of those places to find your center and just breathe for a bit. Yes go there take a minute and enjoy nature.
Disabled V — Google review
Very beautiful trail and a lot of animals! Heard and saw a ton of birds and deer along the path. I took a loop around the lake and it was just under 4 miles and took me roughly 2 hours. If you are planning on doing one of the longer trails, I STRONGLY recommend using a hiking app such as AllTrails. The loop that I took was intertwined with the mountain bike paths as well as the disc golf course. They have quite a bit of trail markings and signage, but there were a few intersections that I would have gotten lost on without the app. Multiple playgrounds, bathrooms. Volleyball court. An abundance of picnic areas as well as parking.

Take a cooler bag if traveling because you will want everything! My daughter and I randomly stopped while traveling to Medina. We split a cheese curd and mozzarella stick from the cafe. There is so much to see and the chocolate shop is definitely worth stopping at to taste. The man making woven baskets has an incredible talent but bring cash. He doesn't take plastic. I will be back for a basket and some dips and cheese! Highly recommend stopping to explore and sample as much cheese as you want. ❤️

Nature & Parks
Nestled in the heart of Ohio, Mohican State Park is a sprawling natural wonder that boasts a stunning gorge, meandering river, and lush hemlock forests. This park caters to all types of outdoor enthusiasts, offering everything from rustic camping experiences to cozy lake-view cabins. Just under 90 minutes from both Columbus and Cleveland, it’s an easily accessible getaway for families and adventurers alike.
Awesome River to rent the Kayak and take a trip down the river. So peaceful, relaxing, and fun. There are not too many places like this around me so this place is one of a kind. My kids love it too! They offer a Military discount on their river trips which is awesome of them. If you're doing the Kayak, canoe, or tubing you must be checked into the place (buy your tickets) by 4:45 pm. This is so you have at least a couple hours to enjoy the river. They want you back to the watercraft retrieval spot by 7pm which is plenty of time if you're doing the 3 mile trip. The scenery is BEAUTIFUL with wildlife, trees, water, bridges and whatever else you may find along the way. I think it's really cool they allow you to bring your cooler if you want to have something to drink along the way. The most reassuring thing for most people is that the majority of the river is only a few feet deep.

We just returned from an incredible stay at the Mohican State Park cabins, and we're already planning our next trip back. The cabin was spotless and cozy, feeling like the perfect rustic getaway with all the comforts of home. The cabins were nicely spread apart. The gas fireplace was a huge plus, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere after a day of exploring. We especially loved the screened-in porch, which was a fantastic spot for morning coffee and evening card games, all while being surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature. The location is simply unbeatable. We were just a short walk away from some of the most beautiful hiking trails in the park, and the proximity to the Clear Fork River was a bonus. The staff was very friendly and professional at check-in, making the whole process seamless. It's clear they take great pride in maintaining the cabins and grounds. If you're looking for a relaxing, beautiful, and convenient home base for all your Mohican adventures, these cabins are the perfect choice.

We absolutely love this campground. Camp store is clean and well stocked with things to make camping here perfect. Clean bathrooms and showers that work well. Friendly and helpful staff made it nice to camp here. Right along the Mohican river great views. Nice trails to enjoy hiking.

We have had numerous family reunions at this state park and enjoyed it every time. It's secluded with beautiful Ohio landscape. The staff at the lodge are very friendly and attentive. The lodge and grounds are beautiful and well maintained . Good food in the restaurant and entrees have large portions. They have a great brunch buffet on the weekends. Outdoor pool and during the summer and year round indoor pool. Also some video games. Hiking trails available in the park, canoeing available thru rental location on Rt 3.

A little heaven in Ohio. I really needed a quick trip to calm my head. I stayed in the Motel 6 in Ashland and went hiking all day alone at Mohican. It was better than 100 therapy sessions. Thank you God for such beauty. One of the photos shows a little rock seat where I was able to sit down and take a rest. Ohio always does a great job maintaining their parks and trails and I am so grateful. I will be back for sure. I am from Michigan and plan to visit them all. I think I have visited four so far. It was a perfect 36 hour trip!

Mohican is surely the gem of Ohio's State Parks. The Lodge and environs are outstanding including indoor and outdoor pools. It offers an outstanding view of the Lake. Outside, within the park,The diversity of terrain including the gorge area and covered bridge offer outstanding views. The Ohio Memorial Forest Shrine is located on rt 97 at an edge of the park. I almost drove past it because it is tucked back off the road. The beauty of the stone building caused me to turn around and go back. This memorial is for the thousands of Ohioans listed by county who gave their lives from World War II to present. The inside is just the impressive stone, printed lists of those who have died in all conflicts. I would guess it is about six miles from the Lodge. A delightful afternoon

Beautiful State Park and Campground. The visitor center is a must see especially if you have children. The sites are amazing and worth the work to see them. If hiking, read the signs for difficultly levels and bring water (you won't want to leave). My favorite part of the campground was how kind all of the staff were.

This park has something for everyone! If you like walking/hiking trails, Mohican has you covered. About 30 different trails total ranging from super easy flat asphalt, to experienced EXTREME hiking trails. Plenty of spaces to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Playgrounds , parks and camping abound! Lots to see. Will be coming back. A must see is the castle! Nice hidden gem

Kingwood Center Gardens in Mansfield, Ohio is a stunning 47-acre former estate transformed into magnificent gardens in 1953. It offers a visual feast with its captivating beauty and unique collection of plants, botanicals, and flowers. Visitors can enjoy the gorgeous floral displays in any season, from spring blooms to fall foliage. The property also features popular attractions such as historic tours and other nearby points of interest like the Richland Carrousel Park and Snow Trails.
The grounds are so charming, beauty hiding around every turn. There are free-roaming peacocks and picnic areas all along the pathways. The grounds are always clean and there are public restrooms and a small Cafe inside the main building. The mansion is STUNNING... so much history

Kingwood had so many things to see. I would recommend three to four hours because the grounds are quite large. Although we originally came because we wanted to see the form of gardens, we were disappointed because they are under construction. We were told they probably won't be completed for 2 years so we'll have to come back. In the meanwhile, you can go on their website there are many pictures to see there. These are just a few of the pictures we took while we were visiting.

I love flowers and gardens, and this place is fascinating to visit. We enjoyed our day immensely. The grounds are beautiful, and we appreciated touring the mansion. They also have a snack shop with a variety of heavier meal options, and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend visiting Kingwood Center Gardens. They have special events happening, so be sure to check the website for current information. When we were there, they had a violet sale.

I attended a regional garden club meeting here and didn't expect much really. Boy, was I mistaken! Upon 1st exiting the entry building into the garden, there were 2 enormous bald cyprus trees in view. They were so big, It made me turn right around and ask the staff in the building if they knew the age. They said those trees were growing since before the property was designed so quite well over 100 years ago. The rest of the grounds were almost as impressive. Trees and plants I've never known before. The greenhouse was impressive too! We'll worth a visit for anyone who loves nature!

Kingwood Center Gardens in Mansfield, Ohio, is full of beauty for photographers—vibrant flowers, elegant garden layouts, and charming architecture. The historic mansion adds to the appeal, especially the grand staircase with its ornate railing. And the resident peacocks are always a highlight to capture!

This is a wonderful Rails to Trails ride. We did 10 miles and back for 20 total. Lots of wildlife and great scenery along the way. It was a completely paved trail that had lots of stopping points, plenty of benches and great views. Well worth the visit.
Jay H — Google review
This is a very scenic part of the trail. I started at the trailhead near Mt.Vernon Avenue to the railroad bridge. The hills get higher near the bridge, and the trail and river make for a picturesque setting. These are pictures from April 6th, 2025, after a few days of heavy rainfall.

This is a great trail, we traveled from Mt Vernon to the tunnel in Howard. There is a lot of shade and some great scenery. There are places to stop and rest, and a few bathrooms along the way too.
Ken T — Google review
I can only speak to about 10 miles of the trail but it is seriously one of the best I’ve been on for biking and walking. There’s a lot of wildlife too. During my quick ride today I saw a deer and two groundhogs. A lot of the trail is surrounded by trees which provides nice shade / scenery. I love that there are benches throughout and I love the bridges! I have tried to rollerblade here before and while it was okay it can be tricky due to the sticks and debris from the trees etc.

One of Ohios best bike rides!! Smooth surface the whole way with a good amount of hill climbs and scenic farms along the way.
Jennifer S — Google review
Most scenic trail I have done. I parked in a parking lot in mount vernon. Went left from parking lot. Train you can climb on about 4 miles out. Another 5 miles (9 total) is the tunnel built mid 1800s.

This is a great trail to walk or ride your bike. I travel all the way from Columbus because this is my favorite trail to ride my bike 25-40 miles. There is a tree canopy for most of the trail so you don’t have to worry much about getting too hot or getting too much sun. The initial ride is along the River on one side and a big wooded hill on the other. The trail doesn’t have many big hills to ride over, it’s pretty level.

Just got back from a morning bike ride with the family. This is a really nice, peaceful trail with a lot of scenery. It runs along the Kokosing river in Mt. Vernon and continues to Gambier to the south. Nice little getaway for some morning exercise and relaxation.

The lookout tower is worth the climb. Seems a lot higher than what it looks from down low. Pretty park and lakes. I didn’t explore the whole area, but bathrooms were closed and I didn’t see a playground.

It's a beautiful park but we found it to be a little bit post apocalyptic. The glass river seemed to have been removed. Maybe they were just redoing it but that was a disappointment for us.

What a great way to preserve history and turn ruins into an interesting place.just under a mile walk around the perimeter. Longer if you climb the terraces and steps to the observation point. Great signage. Worth a few minutes of your day of in the area.

Cherry Valley Hotel

Water Parks
Sophisticated hotel with a restaurant, as well as conference space & an indoor pool.
Quite simply the best hotel experience I have ever had. The room was clean and spacious. The room had a couch and our room had a patio which led right out to the parking lot which was awesome. You can prepay for breakfast if you buy directly through the website for $5 a person which I highly recommend as that breakfast is amazing. I had the omelette and eggs in a blanket for the refused breakfast and the buffet over the weekend. Both well worth the money. I recommend this hotel and will be using this hotel again for any events I have in the area in the near future.
Nicks141 — Google review
So good to see the Cherry Valley back as a general hotel without a water park. The atmosphere when I arrived on a Saturday was buzzing with a conference, a wedding party, and an endless stream of HS teens and their families taking prom pictures. The mood changed on Sunday. Super quiet. That should change. I had hot water issues in my room. Addressing it required a complete shut down of the water system. At least they were addressing it. It was good to see landscape crews working as I left. The grounds used to be immaculate. I hope the new owners will get back to green grass and less weeds. Time to replace the bathtub showers. Good luck, Cherry Valley Hotel. I had great times there from when it opened until 2005 when I moved. Bring it back to five stars.

Just got back from a weekend here. My wife and I were surprised at how beautiful the grounds are, it's really special. The service was excellent, and everybody was so friendly to work with. The layout is a bit tricky if you're trying to get to different areas of the hotel. The food was fantastic, and we though priced fair, although a dedicated coffee station would have been nice. The rooms were excellent with amazing views if you get an inward facing one. Overall, a special place in Ohio for a weekend getaway.

The staff went above and beyond to help my family and I while we were dealing with a situation with another hotel. They embraced us and showed empathy and took time to understand our situation. They were extremely kind, caring and professional. I very much appreciate them for that. Everything was clean, calm, and inviting. Simply one of the best hotels I ever stayed in. Although a bit of a distance from town, the staff made the extra travel worth. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Thankful for my experience.

How lucky we found this place! So many times we've visited Granville and stayed at the Granville Inn. But that place has become outrageously expensive. So we tried this place and it's so much nicer and half the price! It's huge, very charming, nicely done. There are numerous conference rooms of various sizes from small to huge. Well staffed, friendly, and clean. This will be our go-to hotel destination whenever we're back in town.

The staff, location, amenities, chefs, ambiance allowed for a “perfect” June wedding! Eric Lane, our Manager, provided low cost options to keep expenses reasonable. He was very helpful with every decision ( room setup, timing, food choices, room availability for guests staying there, photo opportunities, etc). Eric is warm, sincere, and pressure free. His thoughtful planning significantly dropped the stress level of planning such an event. Rain or shine, all guests would be comfortable. Eric was there on our Saturday ( his day off) to ensure every need was met, and all would go smoothly…which it did. The catering staff was personally engaging, encouraging, polite, making us feel like family. The Courtyard provided a stunningly gorgeous backdrop for photos. Our guests raved about the food at the Reception, quantity and succulent taste. Our sincerest appreciation for allowing our special day to be ‘perfect’! John and Colleen Kerns

Amazing experience at Rockside today! We had the cauliflower pizza and the large pretzel. They both were so amazing !! We also had the pineapple upside down slushy & the “Oh sure “ IPA and they were absolutely delicious!

Had a very nice time, perfect day to sit outside as they have tons of seating outside and in, if you prefer. Wine was good, had a flight so was able to sample a few , before making a choice to buy a bottle which is definitely nice. Service was good very knowledgeable and nice. Definitely recommend a stop and sip if you’re in the area.

This was my first time at a Winery for a work outing and it was fun. I’m sure the prices are always high but to me that was a negative. High prices and small , however the pizza was very good . I loved the crispy crust. The slushy wine was good and I normally don’t drink. So that was a fun surprise. It was a good time.

We were looking for a good place for wine tasting and luckily they were open on Tuesday. Most others were not open till later in the week. We were welcomed when we entered. The building is clean and comfortable and new looking. The staff is helpful to pick wines. We each got a 4 flight of wine to taste. We shared a nice meat and cheese board. The food was fresh and delicious. The wines we chose we more on the sweet side and were also very good. I highly recommend trying this vineyard. Prices are fair. The environment is comfortable. The restrooms are clean. I will come back.

I truly cannot say enough good things about this place. First things first- the entire staff is welcoming, kind and knowledgeable which makes the experience all the better. Everything is very clean, organized and simple. Their wine slushies are SO good. They occasionally have food trucks out on the weekends so it’s a great time to grab something different to eat and have a glass of wine (or wine slushy) and relax on the patio! It’s not overly crowded- there’s plenty of space and the views are amazing!

Historic Sites
Restored residence of President Warren Harding now a museum with presidential & personal artifacts.
On vacation in Ohio and the weather kept us inside. So we went to the Presidential Sites. Had a nice tour of the Harding home and enjoyed our visit to the Presidential Library. The tomb was quite remarkable as well. We learned a lot about a president that we didn't know a lot about. It was all done very well and highly recommend.

First of all a big shout out to the tour guide Bill . He gave us one of the best tours we have ever had . This place is a must visit please add to your bucket list . You will learn a lot about one of our presidents . This was the tenth presidential libraries I have visited. Great place to take the family well worth a trip .
BILL R — Google review
Coming off a night with very little sleep (5-10 minutes), when all I wanted to do was take a nap in the parking lot after a long day of travel, I gathered just enough energy to walk inside and say hello to the guides, which led me to a "front porch" tour that did more than wake me up. It reminded me of why I had come to the Harding house in the first place, to talk with those who could offer their own American context, to appreciate and embrace what makes this nation and its leaders so fragile, so rewarding to study, despite our many faults and falls along the way.
Jeremy L — Google review
Museum is very informative. Home has been well kept thru the years with mostly original furnishings. Tour guide was excellent and knowledgeable.

The grounds are well kept. Since we had our dog with us we passed on the tour today of the house & museum but plan to return at a later date. We spoke with several people who had viewed both and were told it was well worth seeing.

Very nice tour and very clean museum. The tour guide we had was very informative and made the tour fun and educational for all of us. Lots to see and do. There is also a nice gift shop and clean restrooms available. There was not a JR Ranger Program for those that have asked, but hopefully they will add it as it would be a great addition.
Savannah P — Google review
This is an amazing find if you want to see and learn about history. When President Harding passed away, the nation at the time was in shock and grieved. Unfortunately, his presidency was not treated well as members of his cabinet were caught up in scandals after Hardings' death. It would've been interesting to see how he would've dealt with all that came out. The museum did a great job of explaining without trying to cover anything up. What was extremely interesting was how Harding and his wife supported the women's suffrage movement and equality for races. Considering how women were ignored or called "nags" if they spoke up in public, Harding respected his wife's opinion. Mrs. Harding was really the first First Lady to champion women athletes and other women's causes. Always a hit, the President's dog, Laddie is good for all ages! The tour of the Harding's Queen Victorian home, right next to the museum, is well worth it! Plus, the museum has spent the money to install wheelchair access for more to be able to have full access. The home is in amazing condition, and the front porch experience is very cool!
Leslie S — Google review
One of the finest guided tours I have ever experienced! Our guide of the house was excellent, giving a very interesting, detailed account of the Hardings' life and home. The museum was also extremely interesting, although we regretfully didn't arrive early enough to read all the exhibit information. If you are a true history buff I would recommend at least three hours to go on the house tour plus visit the museum, watch the movie, and peruse the gift shop. Finally, while not on the same property, the Hardings' gravestones and memorial are nearby and are also well worth the visit. All in all, we had an extremely satisfying day here!

I was in Marion for a business meeting, and decided to swing by this place since I enjoy presidential history. A very peaceful setting, with a beautiful memorial building in which Harding and his wife are buried. I enjoyed just walking the grounds and reading the signs. Looks like it would be a great place to spend a few hours, relaxing, relaxing, enjoying a picnic, or reading.

If you’re a history geek, this is a quick stop. Parking was plentiful. Beautiful memorial with historical information plaques. We were just passing through, stayed the night in Marion while on our way to NY and happened to see a former president had a memorial/grave site in the area and decided to make a quick stop early in the morning, before we continued on our journey. The site was way more impressive than I had expected—felt like it could have been in Washington DC and not in the middle of Ohio, surrounded by mostly farmland. If you’re in the area, appreciate American history, and have time, I’d recommend a visit.

This is no reflection on the president, just the memorial. Overall. The grounds are well kept and lush, the memorial itself is stunning and it's very nice to photograph. The grounds are public.

We went on a Saturday afternoon and had the whole place to ourselves, there are two small parking lots, a paved level walk way leads you to the memorial. The marks in the marble is absolutely stunning as it makes abstract designs, also check out the metal details of the stair railings and fencing, it's a beautiful floral design.

Delaware State Park, situated in Delaware, Ohio, is a sprawling 1,700-acre natural haven just 45 minutes north of Columbus. The park offers a variety of outdoor activities such as camping, boating, fishing, and kayaking around the reservoir. Visitors can explore the forested area through trails like Mink Run trail and Briar Run trail that offer scenic views and moderate terrain.
I stayed at the campground here which was the best yet. Level paved parking & electric hook up. Cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen. I didn’t spend too much time in the park itself I did however complete the one looped hike & am going to comment on that. It was pretty easy, flat ground. It was beautiful because the leaves are freshly falling and giving an earthy smell. Heard lots of squirrels and birds in the woods. There is a LOT of spiders in this area - I know because I found them all over my camper and truck bed. I also happened to run into their webs with my face on the hike. It wasn’t bad, but enough to make me panic google if I was going to need medical attention if im bit. Haha, but in all seriousness it’s a simple hike in nature. Just watch those nuts the squirrels throw down- you could easily twist an ankle. Also it’s real quiet and peaceful in here. The hike can be accessed from different locations. I easily accessed from the campground.

The site we were in was swampy, probably because of a large rain recently - but it looks like it is an ongoing issue because hay had been put down over the mud, and it had been there a little while. Other than that, the site was fine. Because we got there on a Monday (5/19), we nearly had the whole place to ourselves, which was nice fir quiet and solitude. Shower / restroom facilities were clean and updated nicely.
Ethan B — Google review
We are very impressed with the campground. The campground is laid out very well, sites are large and bathroom/shower rooms are clean. The hiking trails we went on were OK. One was very muddy due to all the rain in previous days and had large fallen trees over the path in areas. The beach is very nice as well, with clean bathrooms, and a nice playground area. The dam access was closed due to construction but the park area had 2 amazing playground areas. 1 for smaller kids and 1 for bigger kids. A great area for a picnic. Brand new bathroom as well.

What an amazing place! Came by on a warm and sunny day and were blown away by how gorgeous the grounds are. We saw staff working on stuff everywhere. As someone who has a hard time walking distances, I was pleasantly surprised to be offered an electrical scooter at no charge to help get around. The place is very large and clearly marked for what plants are where and also how to avoid staircases. Volunteers were very evident and were obviously happy to be there. Wonderful place to spend time.

I felt the price was about $5 to high. However, we booked for 5:30 entry and it was still daylight and have to have the children home at a certain time so they didn’t get to see the cool stuff come to life til we left. I understand it’s a wedding venue as I got married there at Christmas time. So we missed out on seeing the Palm house. Not spooky at all. Great for kids of all ages. Just wish the prices were lower so even the kids that come from low income families could enjoy it too.

I haven't been to the Franklin Park Conservatory for over 40 years and my girlfriend has never been so what better way to spend our one year anniversary than to spend a day enjoying all the beautiful sights and smells😊. It was better than I remembered! I was even better at night seeing the place lit up for the Pumpkins Aglow event. I was very romantic and the smiles she had was priceless 😍

My Granddaughter and her Fiancée were just Married here 11-8-25. The Franklin Park Conservatory is absolutely Beautiful for a wedding. Beautiful plants, Blown glass art, the people setting up, everything was perfect. The grounds are gorgeous for pictures, and just to walk around see topiary, plants, trees. Gorgeous place to visit, take pictures to take with family, etc.

We went to Pumpkins A'glow prior to Halloween as our first visit to the conservatory. Our family enjoyed the everything inside and out. The detail and variety was amazing. We will definitely be going back for more events.

This was a great little excursion while in Columbus. The Flora is beautiful and the chihuli glass is incredible. It doesn’t take up your whole day to tour and I was happy with the amount to see.

The area features a mix of shops selling books, handmade jewelry, and traditional fudge, alongside art galleries, German pubs, American bistros, and artisan coffee shops. In the summer, Schiller Park hosts outdoor Shakespeare and other plays. This downtown-adjacent district offers brick-lined streets with boutiques and restaurants. Planetarium
Located in Columbus, Ohio, the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) is a top science museum offering interactive exhibits, working labs, planetarium shows, and a variety of hands-on science exhibits covering themes like Oceans, Gadgets, and Energy. The museum also features a Little Kidspace for younger children and a permanent American Museum of Natural History Dinosaur Gallery. Visitors can enjoy dining at the on-site cafe and restaurant or shop at the gift shop.
There are many exhibits to explore. The dinosaur & shark exhibits were great to see, as they had life size models on display & it was very informative. The Ocean exhibit was fun because you can go into a real submarine & there is an interactive water room. One of the best things about the museum is how many hands on things there are to do. It's definitely a great place for all ages.

The visit was amazing! We visited for the Unofficial Galaxies event since we are huge Star Wars fans. The event was spectacular with a ton of really insane exhibits that were mostly fan made. We were absolutely thrilled to see all of the handmade items and pieces from the films. We recommend buying tickets in advance. Also the military discount here is only $2 but still worth it.

Pixar was worth it for us. Our kids from 8-16 had a blast getting drawn into the animation process for at least 90 minutes then spent another couple of hours exploring, playing and creating. The older kids had been to Cosi before but had a genuinely good time taking it all in again, they also thoroughly enjoyed shocking each other in the energy section. Even some of the discovery and play areas were surprisingly fun and interesting.

Coming from out of town, looking to kill some time, it did not disappoint!Cool science center. There were tons of day camp kids running wild, but that can be expected on a weekday morning in the summer. Very cool hands on stuff for kids. The natural history exhibits were cool, along with the Town of Progress exhibit. Would definitely recommend if you are in the Columbus area.

I don’t see many reviews talking about amazing the little kids area upstairs is! 1st grade and under I believe was the age range. My kiddos will spend hours just in that area alone. Dramatic play , water play, art room, wooden train /soft play, and play construction vehicles . Find on street parking for a cheaper rate than the garage.

Wow! Just a beautiful place to take the family. The exhibits are amazing. Every time we go the Dinosaur exhibit just keeps on expanding. Just truly an amazing place and I myself learn so much. Highly recommend going especially when they change out the featured exhibits.

This place is so worth it. For only $30 bucks we got over 3 hours of fun and useful information about the world we live in. We visited the planetarium twice for two films that were incredible and at no extra charge. You definitely can make a whole days worth out of this museum. I also enjoyed that it’s not only child oriented but also includes stuff for adults to do. Also don’t forget to check out the shows they do during the day. We got to see rats play basketball! My one and only complaint about this place is I wish there were more cool shirts in the gift shop for adults! (All the cool ones are for the kids)

I finally made it here after knowing about it for more than 20 years and it was totally worth it. I teared up a little when I first walked i to the dinosaur room. Seriously so amazing to see. And I was in awe of the beauty in the Poseidon room. I think that might have been my favorite. An incredible experience for sure. Absolutely worth a visit!

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium

Zoo
The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is a sprawling park located about 20 miles north of downtown, showcasing a wide variety of land and sea life. With over 10,000 animals from more than 500 species across six themed areas, visitors can enjoy hands-on experiences like the tide pool and Jack Hanna's Animal Encounters Village. The zoo also offers additional attractions such as the Wilds conservation center, Zoombezi Bay water park for summer fun, and an 18-hole Safari Golf Course.
This was the coolest zoo we've been to. The rides do cost extra but there's so much to do in the zoo that you don't need it. There's so many animals and each exhibit is meticulously planned to provide a nice space for the animal. The zoo flowed well and we really enjoyed the different sections so we knew what to expect for the animals. Great zoo and a great experience.

The zoo itself was great. Very enjoyable and I loved the amount of space the enclosures had for the animals. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is cuz the food is outrageous. $15 for a cheeseburger, $8 for a hotdogs. It cost us $90 just for food for a small party. Definitely pack your own lunch before your visit.

What a great time going. The last time I was here was when I was a child and how it has grown and changed is incredible. Such a diverse choice of animals from different regions of the world. Great displays touching upon conservation, education, and the impact mankind has on wildlife. Many extras with gift shops, food choices, rides, etc. Highlights were the manatee and hyena displays.

This was our 1st time visiting the Columbus Zoo and we had a GREAT time. It was cold so a lot of animals weren't out (which was expected) but the animals were did see were awesome and their habitats were set up really nice. We will definitely visit again.

Definitely get there in the morning because you’re going to need A LOT of time! The zoo is massive, we got there while there was still 2 hours to closing and barely saw 25% of it! We greatly enjoyed our time nonetheless! We went on a Friday and it wasn’t crowded, the zoo was very clean and we loved how large the enclosures were for the animals. Will definitely come back if we get the chance and spend all day there!
Lacie C — Google review
Honestly this zoo wasn’t it for us. We’ve been to an array of zoos over the years and found this one just wasn’t what we had hoped for. While it was clean and the layout was simple we found that many animals were off exhibit and many sections of the zoo not accessible for different events . Our favorite part however was the polar bear exhibit. It was fantastic and the animals are truly spectacular. Our least favorite is paying for parking and general admission costs, we found it to be much higher than other zoos we’ve traveled too and found that since the lack of animals on display + cost had us uninterested in returning for another visit.

This is my absolute favorite zoo so far. The wildlife is well taken care of. The aquarium is clean, beautiful, large, it's equally very amazing. The aquatic life is extremely happy. It seems all these animals have great space to be as close to real life as they can get in safety. I love Africa to see everything's so large. The restrooms are spotless. The employees are very kind and helpful. I can't say enough good about my experiences here. It's above in comparison to others I've been to in my surrounding areas. The gorillas have an amazing habitat as well as many other animals habitats there. I spend the night at a hotel so I can enjoy the entire zoo and take my time. I love the reptile building also. I can go on..

We had an amazing day at the Columbus Zoo. The Red Panda experience was absolutely incredible and 100% worth it. Getting to learn about these adorable animals up close was unforgettable. Tom from the Education Team was especially fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what he does. You can tell how much he cares about the animals and making the experience special for guests. Highly recommend this zoo and the animal experiences to anyone visiting Columbus!

Water & Amusement Parks
Zoombezi Bay is a thrilling water park located next to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, offering a perfect blend of refreshing water attractions and spooky, zombie-themed experiences. The park features a giant pool, raft slides, high-speed mat races, lazy rivers, and more. In addition to its water rides, Zoombezi Bay also boasts haunted houses and scare zones for horror enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy non-water rides like the Sea Dragon roller coaster as well.
I enjoyed my time there. Kid and adult friendly. Parking only $10 and they have all day rental lockers for an affordable rate. I do recommend wearing water shoes to avoid walking barefoot on high traffic wet areas. It is first come first serve for the tubes at the lazy river but still very enjoyable. They have a “fast pass” option which I thought was nice. Drinks were a little pricey, but they do hand out water cups to make sure everyone is staying hydrated. I thought the burger and fry meal was reasonably priced. You can also bring your own food, get stamped, go out to your car and eat, and come back at no fee. All and all I will definitely go again! Super easy to get to as well!

We had a great time. We got there when the park opened and rented a 21+ lounger space on the same day, but they do advise to book in advance online. For reserved padded lounge chairs in the semi private shade, access to the wait staff and a safe large enough to fit a large shoulder bag, we felt that the $100 fee was worth it. Since a large locker is $22 already. And since we also came in from out of town, the day use of towels included with the lounge rental were a nice bonus. The staff running the bar in that area were friendly and helpful. I would also advise to go to the left side of the parking lot when you arrive for close access to the Zoombezi entrance. If you follow the masses, you are going to end up on the zoo side with a considerable walk ahead of you. Take sunscreen. If this is the one thing you forget, the standard 6oz size spray is $30 on site. 30-40oz of heavily tequila laden margaritas is cheaper than 6oz of sunscreen here.

We went on weekend and it was super crowded. They have lots of fun things for kids and plenty of seating area. There’s no shade on rides. They have separate sheds for seating but you have to reserve them and they charge a lot for those “Cabanas”. It’s worth money if you’re someone who doesn’t mind going to overcrowded places.

Cashless isn't always convenient. Especially for a young person working and having cash they can't spend or having to purchase a card to purchase some over priced and mediocre food. Our pizza was overpriced and was terrible. Pool was shut down nobody knew why I don't know just filled on the organized

Cool place for kids. Def worth it to get the annual gold pass with free parking if you live close by and will visit often. Bring food and drinks, expensive and not that great inside.

It was a lot of fun. The best of all is that there were not many people and we could enjoy all the attractions without queuing.
