The site features reconstructed fort buildings inspired by 1865, which provide an immersive experience of the area's past. The reconstructed fort is beautifully done, allowing visitors to walk through time and imagine life on the frontier. I would recommend anyone passing through to stop and check out this really neat piece of Army history and the town's history. It was super windy when we went, but it was well worth every bit of it. Currently, they have a display of guns from the 1800s and also have Indian artifacts. Very neat history as well. It is winterized, but I was still able to get amazing pictures through the windows.
Genevieve N — Google review
What a fun museum! I love how the fort is set up like it's still being used. The inside museum was very nice and informative. It was a spur of the moment stop and we are so glad we did. The gift shop is very nice too and the woman working there was so friendly.

Neat historical stop. They've done a really awesome job with the fort buildings and replicas. Enjoyed walking through and seeing the different spaces and then inside learning some of the history of Wyoming as a whole. Really fascinating stuff. Worth a stop if you love American history, especially of the frontier.

Very interesting artifacts and history. Fort’s buildings were interesting to walk through. Enjoyed visit.
Bob B — Google review
This museum had the friendliest people that were willing to take their time and explain all the items to see. They also helped me pick out a book that I very much appreciated. The barracks were perfect and gave the visitor a glimpse of the past. If one enjoys history, this is a great spot.
John B — Google review
Very cool place. The guy working was so nice. It was quiet, so we could wander. Kiddo I came in with wanted to go explore the fort, so we spent about 90 minutes out there without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Overall, a great learning opportunity and a neat place to check out and see a bit more visually how folks lived in some of these forts.

It is a new museum. It is small but well done. There is a lot of information. The visuals are nice. There is a lot to read. The video is interesting. The workers were extremely friendly and helpful. I would allocate about an hour maybe 2 if you want to read everything. The view of Casper is really nice.

This place is fantastic. The staff are all friendly, helpful and informative. The movie is great - don't miss it. It is so well done, it makes the trials and tribulations of trail life totally come alive. The virtual river crossing was great. I wish that we had more time to spend here - there were so many great interactive exhibits to see.

This place is fantastic! There are people outside with displays who answered many questions about animal furs and trade along the trails. Inside was a wonderful museum covering many aspects of the various trails and the people who traveled them. We watched an award winning 15 minute movie with mannequins portraying different aspects of life along the trails.

Absolute beautiful! I imagine that when this place was first discovered, they thought they found Heaven on earth! Park and camping areas are very well maintained and clean. We didn't camp, just a day trip thing. You can hike up to the top of the bridge-, or swim under it. Cute little things to see around the area. The hosts are very nice.

Great place for a picnic and a short walk! Lots of red rock by the creek that we took family photos in front of. Great little place, kid and pet friendly. Narrow roads and parking so be careful.

Don't bring your dog! The caretakers will chase you out of there. This is a great place for a family get together. There's tons of room and distinct areas for large groups. Plus free overnight camping. The scenery is breathtaking. There's playground equipment for the kids Beach volleyball and horseshoes. But if you want to throw shoes, bring a shovel, the pits are beat.

Ruts almost 7 feet deep! Plus lots of information on easy to read plaques. It is a paved path up above the parking lot, but barely a five minute walk but might be steep for some. Additional paths as well. To walk through these is amazing.

This is a wonderful, quick stop to add to your trip. You get to see a couple different areas where the wagons eroded away the rock. There is a short loop to walk with information about the Oregon trail and the people who used it.

Fascinating place. Worth a visit if you enjoy amazing history. Easy stroll to the top of the area where the ruts are. Restrooms available in the car park.
Samantha S — Google review
We didn’t get to explore as much as we wanted to since a bear was sleeping under a tree. Otherwise the experience was neat to see and an opportunity for the kids to see history
Jamie S — Google review
Wonderful history of the way west. Amazing that wagon wheels cut these grooves in the stone.
Barry K — Google review
This is a legendery site on the Oregon Trail and it was fun to see how the wagons, traveling single file, made deep ruts into the rock as they attempted to cross the ridge. I had a little trouble finding the site, but that may be my fault. Google maps directed me to the turnoff for the Oregon Trail Ruts Historic sites. Similar to Windlass Hill in Nebraska, I pulled into the parking lot near the sign which said "Oregon Trail Ruts State Historic site" and took a very long walk (1/2 mile round trip) on a concrete path with benches and waste cans, it appeared to be a well maintained walking trail. I kept thinking I was going to see the ruts at any moment. When I finally reached a dirt road and no ruts (although a nice historic Oregon trail grave was nearby), I walked back to my car. I could see then that the sign pointed down a narrow gravel road to the historic site not to the parking lot. I drove down the gravel road 1/4 mile, turned left on a bigger dirt road and turned left again into the historic ruts site parking lot. It is a bit of a climb to the ruts, but well worth it. I am including a photo of the walking trail from the first small parking lot. It will eventually take you to the historic ruts (turn left at the road and turn left again into a larger parking lot), if you want a very long walk, but driving your car to the site will be easier.

Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site

Mentioned on
18 lists
Historical place museum
Sights & Landmarks
The Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site in Laramie is a captivating destination for history enthusiasts and families alike. This restored 1872 prison once held the infamous outlaw Butch Cassidy for 18 months, offering visitors a glimpse into its intriguing past through self-guided and guided tours.
An excellent slice of history has been preserved and renovated to showcase its authenticity. Being presented a "prisoner" at admission added an element of curiosity to the process. The museum has a lot of great information and throughout our 3000 mile trip, we kept learning more about Butch Cassidy but this was the most information in one place (we decided he was an intelligent & charismatic man who was never going to settle down - much to his parents' despair). The broom factory was excellent as the guide provided a great deal of information in addition to a brief demonstration for our questions. Really enjoyed the whole thing and it left a remarkable impression of Wyoming.
Emm D — Google review
Very interesting people have stayed here. The renovations are amazing. They still make brooms. We spent about two hours but had to leave as they were closing.
Melissa G — Google review
Very interesting history. Even better if you enjoy visiting prisons of the past n how they were run. The first with a women's wing (2 cells only, n they never left it). It could appear that the guards were also "prisoners" while working. Butch Cassidy has his own exhibit inside. There's a broom making Factory out back, that still handmakes n sells the brooms. When the prison closed it was turned into a farm. It bk is a tropics town. Definately worth visiting. A thorough visit can take 3-4 hrs.
Karen T — Google review
Stayed overnight waiting to see it. We didn't think it was worth it. The "tour guide" said, let me know if you have any questions. The lady working in the broom making didn't even acknowledge us. It was just ok. Cool to say we went. But not sure I would have stayed overnight to see it.
Jimmy O — Google review
Hubby & I visited this place and took the guided tour. Our guide was very good and told stories of several inmates that were incarcerated there. One of the most famous was Butch Cassidy. Recommend visiting if in the Laramie area.
K. W — Google review
Explored the Wyoming Territorial Prison, once home to the famous outlaw Butch Cassidy. From the old cells to the barns, wagons, and mill work, it was fascinating to see how prisoners lived—creating brooms, building furniture, and caring for animals. A true step back into the Wild West
Jamie S — Google review
Really good historical site. The guide was well versed on everything there. Would highly recommend.

Fort Laramie National Historic Site

Mentioned on

Historical place
Sights & Landmarks
Fort Laramie National Historic Site is a significant Wyoming landmark that boasts excellently preserved original buildings. Visitors can enjoy audio tours of the military post as well as outdoor activities, such as walking down the Oregon Trail and viewing old wagon ruts. The site also features a visitor center where guests can learn about life for infantry men during their five-year stay at the fort. Overall, Fort Laramie National Historic Site is an exceptional historic destination for anyone interested in learning about history and westward migration.
It was a lovely day even though it was 100 degrees outside. There are a lot of historical buildings to see, pristine black powder cannons, a couple of muzzle loaders, a military covered wagon, and a couple of men wearing army uniforms from the period of time when the Fort was filled with soldiers in the 1800’s. There are bathroom facilities available, and you have to drive past what’s left of Fort Platte on your way to Fort Laramie. This would be a great family trip, or an interesting historical stop for people driving through the area on their vacation, who want to learn more about America’s rich history.
Susie — Google review
Really interesting place. Such important history happened here. Definitely felt like hollowed ground walking around. Very good signage describing what you are looking at. Additionally, the 19 minute video at the visitor center is very informative.
Andrew B — Google review
I visited Fort Laramie National Historic Site during the live event weekend, and it was such a great experience. The reenactments and demonstrations really brought history to life, and the staff and volunteers were very knowledgeable. It’s a beautiful place to explore and learn more about the people who lived and traveled through here. Definitely worth the visit!
Jamie S — Google review
A wonderful way to spend a day Viewing a historic place. Immersed in history, some of the buildings have been recreated as they once were, you are welcome to walk the grounds and view the buildings, there are also many books about the area. The native people's and the pioneers, as well as a short film, that's very informative.
EG R — Google review
Great site for adults and kids. Good little visitor center with a 18 minute video in theatre. Barracks, post office, jail, and officer houses were cool to see as they are setup with original articles and are very viewable. Barracks was great with sarsaparilla, root beer, and cream soda available. Be sure to get there by noon for the daily canon firing and informative introduction by park ranger.
Stephen S — Google review
It's a gem! Kinda hidden away but it's definitely a place worth visiting if you enjoy history. Tons of artifacts and things to look at. There is some walking so dress accordingly. There isn't much shade from the summer sun so if bring an umbrella for comfort.
Shayla S — Google review
Well preserved historic fort where important events in American history occurred. The fort began as a trading post in the 1830s. It was purchased by the U.S. army in 1849 to protect the emigrants traveling to Oregon and California. It is a few miles off of highway 26. I had a little trouble finding the fort as Google maps first had me stop at the iron bridge, saying that was the fort, and it took awhile to figure out that it was much further down the road. It is an excellent site to learn about the U.S. army and Native Americans in the area in the mid-19th century. A nice walking trail loops around the historic buildings. You can go inside most of the buildings and rooms have glass barriers, so you can see the furnished rooms inside. I also liked the displays and photos on the eventual deterioration of the buildings when the fort closed in the 1890s and subsequent excavations and renovations. I highly recommend visiting the fort if old buildings and American history interest you.
Maura — Google review

This 71,000-acre forest is home to moose & offers cabins & yurts, plus hiking & biking trails.
Went camping up at the North Park campground in the middle of September for a weekend. The campground was amazing and had all the amenities. We also went for a hike around the Gould loop and had an amazing time with excellent weather. This is a nice little getaway place that's not overly crowded and full of fun things to do. We'll definitely be coming back.

AMAZING spot! Clean, quiet & the view is so pretty. Saw mule deer, hummingbirds, a fox & gold finches. A nature lovers dream! Camped in the Bockman campground & drove to the N Michigan lake . We will be back & for longer!

If you are looking for a park with lots of great trails, views and excellent facilities, this is it! I had an amazing time camping here. All the fecilties I visited were clean and well maintained, the trails are in excellent conditions and the staff were very helpful. Of course, the views were great at every turn!

Beautiful park! Saw 4 moose on the drive. Amazing fall colors and snow all in the same trip.
J K — Google review
This is a very odd State Park. There's graded dirt roads circling all over the place, that don't go anywhere. The RV dump station is miles away from CG. And I don't recommend sites 201 - 205... they are just wide spots on the heavily travelled main road. There's odd buildings with work trucks scattered all over by the entrance. Very odd place.
Terry B — Google review
First time there....fall colors were popping! Drove to the Moose overlook and had lunch on the small deck. Little bit of everything for everyone. Yurts, cabins, campgrounds and lakes to fish, canoe in. Lots of hikes and 4wd roads to explore. Mountain ranges to admire and supposedly the best spot in Colorado to see moose. Will be back! Comparable to RMNP but less crowded! Dog friendly as well!

A beautiful state park! Visit the Moose Visitor Center where there’s free wifi. There are several campgrounds with various amenities. Ranger Lakes CG has three nice fishing lakes with well kept walking trails. Northpark CG now offers full hookups at some sights. Michigan Lake has some lakeside sights and the lake was nice to kayak on. Hike the .8 mile trail to Agnes Lake, at around 10,500’ elevation. Close by the park is the Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge with a nice visitor center and a 1/2 mile raised boardwalk with many informational signs about the area’s waterfowl. There are over 600 moose now in the area of State Forest after being introduced in the 70’s and 80’s.

Vedauwoo Climbing Area is a stunning natural location with a variety of climbing opportunities for both beginners and experts. The area boasts scenic boulders and trails that are not overcrowded, even when the parking area is full. It's also dog-friendly and has pit toilets in some locations. However, visitors should be aware that there isn't much shade, and it can get windy at times.
Clean pit toilets Great place to walk and climb We saw a bull moose and 2 calves this morning.

A little too crowded but understandable, it's a cool place. I didn't get to climb. I did enjoy the hiking and views.

If you like nature, this is the place to be. Lots of trails, n climbing rocks for the adventurous. Camping available in a developed campground with water, trash n ejection (i think). Then there's a free dispersed area right past that, with no amenities. Good cell service. Sun n shade both. The views are spectacular all around!

This a a great place about 20 miles outside of Laramie to get outdoors and enjoy some wonderful Wyoming scenery and climate. It is a great area for a picnic, a car tour, a day hike, rock climb or some overnight camping. In the weekends it can get a bit crowded but on the weekdays it is an absolute paradise While you are in the Veedauwoo area, it is worth a brief drive across the highway to visit the Ales Monument

This was a very unique trip and I’m so glad I went. I’ll make this review simple with pros and cons. Pros: Very unique, there’s not really a sense of direction so you can go climb anywhere (at your own risk), very cheap / free depending on if you’re camping or just hiking / camping; they had restrooms that were easily found, and lastly the views and overall area was just so nice and well kept. Great place for those who want to throw an event, camp, or even just climb! Cons: Figuring out where to go or park was very confusing, the place is very popular so camping spots are kind of hard to get, the one section is all dirt road and not meant for sedans or low to the ground cars, there wasn’t really any markers or trails so getting lost is quite common, lastly it genuinely is dangerous so please be careful when climbing (I myself fell but I’m okay) Overall: 3.95/5.00, would recommend!

Greta place for camping and hiking. I've been coming here for a very long time and I really enjoy it, it's just a great place to go to get out whether it's for a day trip or for a few days. I would definitely recommend coming up here, the wildlife up here is also just as beautiful as I've seen deer elk moose Etc :)

Curt Gowdy State Park is a recreational area that offers many outdoor activities for families and children. It was named after Wyoming's renowned sportscaster who started his career at local radio stations. The park has various campsites, hiking trails, reservoirs for boating and fishing, and picnic areas to enjoy with your loved ones. Additionally, the staff members in the booth and visitor center are very welcoming.
We had a non electric camping site and it was awesome. Very large all to ourselves overlooking the lake. Nice trails. The visitors center workers do their job but aren't really friendly, they want u out of there it seems. We enjoyed our time and went on many trails. There is no firewood for sale in the park

Curt Gowdy State Park is absolutely stunning! The scenery here is breathtaking—rolling hills, unique granite formations, crystal-clear lakes, and endless skies that make every corner of the park feel magical. The trails are so well kept and offer something for everyone, from peaceful hikes and fishing spots to exciting mountain biking routes and hidden waterfalls. The sunsets over the reservoirs are unforgettable, and it’s one of those places where you can truly slow down and soak in the beauty of nature. Wildlife is abundant, the air feels fresh and pure, and the whole park has such a vibrant, calming energy. Whether you’re looking for adventure or just a peaceful escape, this park is perfection. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Wyoming—it’s a true gem!

Beautiful park! The debit card machine was down and I didn’t have cash. The man working the visitor center was very helpful. The restrooms were clean. Trails were beautiful and worth every entrance penny. The aspens were beautiful in early October.

If you haven't put this on your bucket list, you really need to. The drive to the place is absolutely stunning from either direction that you come. The colors in Wyoming are so diverse that almost any picture you take could be entered into a picture contest highly recommended for the outdoors type.

Alpine Visitor Center

Visitor center
Nestled at an impressive elevation of 11,796 feet along the Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, the Alpine Visitor Center stands as the highest visitor center in the National Park System. Its distinctive lattice log roof design is engineered to withstand fierce winter winds. This center offers a unique opportunity to explore and understand the alpine tundra ecosystem that thrives in this high-altitude region.
This is more than just a visitor center for the national Park service, it is a really neat place to visit. You have breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains. Moreover, it’s above the tree line, so it is really interesting and different from about any other ecosystem, you could see. I particularly enjoyed that they had a seating area inside with big huge panel windows to look out over the mountains and the valleys and streams below. It is extremely busy so I would recommend coming early. Moreover, a lot of times it rains in the afternoons in the mountains so coming early makes even more sense to be able to See Things and also to take advantage of some of the trails that spiral out from this visitor center. There is a short trail to the top of a very nearby mountain, which is worthwhile but expect that it will take more effort than you think due to the high altitude. I will also say that about half of our 20 person party experienced altitude sickness since this is at about 12,000 feet. The roads are pretty narrow and a little bit scary so this is something else you should consider as you’re driving up. There are lots of places to turn off and look at stuff. The center itself has bathrooms a ranger station a small gift shop and a neat little mini museum. Five stars!
Jason C — Google review
This visitor center offers gorgeous views across Rocky Mountain national Park. We were here in an evening right at sunset, so we were not able to go into the actual visitor center, but we spent a good bit of time here just soaking in the sunset views. Not only did we get to see the beautiful sky after the sun went down, but we got to watch elk and some moose in the valley below the visitor center! There is also nice restrooms here, and plenty of parking. As well as some steps that take you up to an observation point at an even higher elevation.
Kevin H — Google review
Unfortunately by the time we visited (October 10) and drove all the way to the top, we found that the Visitors Center was CLOSED for the season. Very disappointing but totally understandable, given the huge snowfalls (there was snow at this altitude already) and the very unnerving drive. This drive once you start climbing to the higher elevations, and certainly above 9,000 - 10,000 feet, is on a narrow but well maintained road, with no guardrails and precipitous drops! As one Park Ranger told me later - not for the faint of heart! However, this is the highest Visitors Center in the US National Park system and the alpine views above the tree lines and just below the clouds are incredible! Be aware that, as in our case, at the lower parts of the park (around 7-8,000 feet in elevation) the temperature was 58F while at the top of the mountains at the Visitor Center it was light rain and 39F. Do not take lightly the precautions of rapid and significant weather changes. But absolutely glad we did the drive once.
Dr D — Google review
Great visitor center! Unique experience to go all the way to the top! Definitely acclimate to the elevation first. Over 11,000 feet about sea level. Great views. I liked trail ridge road better but we did old Fall River on the way up. Saw a marmot! Check out the cafe/store for a larger selection of souvenirs. Food didn’t have many choices.
Vickie P — Google review
Beautiful trail ridge road leading to the alpine visitor center. We saw a moose just before entering the parking lot. The view from the center in the fall is absolutely gorgeous. There is a short hike up to an overlook offering stunning views of the surrounding mountain range. Hiking boots are not needed. Perfect spot for a pit stop on a scenic drive.
Elena W — Google review
Beautiful 360 degree views of the snow capped mountains. The hike to the summit was rewarding and breathtaking! Definitely recommend this one. Cafe serves a variety of beverages, minimal food options. The gift/souvenir store has variety but is over priced. If you are going down and exiting the RMNP, you will find many souvenir stores selling the same things for at least 30% less.
Dinesh C — Google review
The Alpine Center in RMNP is amazing! The drive there from Beaver Meadows entrance was exhilarating. Going from Aspen and pine forest to the alpine and tundra area above treeline was super interesting. At Alpine one can climb a straight, half mile trail straight up to be at the top of the mountain with views in all directions of the world below. Amazing! Educational info along the trail regarding the tundra's plants, wild flowers and animals, how they survive winters with 100 mph winds that scour the land, little water, and freezing temps were nice spots to stop, rest, and read. The air is super thin and takes some getting used to. We really enjoyed our day getting there.
Tammy S — Google review
It's a beautiful place at 11700 ft above sea level. About 40 parking spots. To get the best view , we walk up the pathway, partly steps and partly a small paved road to get to the top of the mountain to 12005 ft high.

Agate Fossil Beds National Monument

Sights & Landmarks
Agate Fossil Beds National Monument in Nebraska offers a glimpse into the ancient past, with trails winding through a grassy prairie and a visitors center showcasing fossilized bones of prehistoric mammals. Around 20 million years ago, this area was teeming with diverse wildlife, and today thousands of their remains are found here. The Bone Cabin, burrowing beaver exhibits, and Native American displays provide fascinating insights.
Very beautiful park, though it is in the middle of nowhere (quite literally - their website reminds visitors to get gas and food before heading here as the nearest services are at least 30 miles away). This is my first time in this part of Nebraska, and it was very well worth the trek "off the beaten path". I visited when the visitor's center was open. And though it was the hottest part of the day, I still did the 2.5 mile or so hike to the buttes. The trail is accessible (3 or 4 foot square concrete slabs the entire way), though there were some spots where the slabs had heaved up or had an inch or so lip. If someone was in a wheelchair, they could take the hike with some assistance on those problem spots. The trail was beautiful, from the Niobrara river crossing to the loop of the buttes and dig sites, but with very little shade. The NPS has 3 benches with shade placed along the path that gives a little reprieve for a drink of water, but be prepared with good clothing and sunscreen. Also bring water if the building is closed - I didn't notice outside sources (but check their website on this - I may have just missed it). The visitor's center had some nice exhibits on the fossils, some indigenous artifacts, and personal belongings of James Cook. Very interesting history to learn, from millions of years ago to about 150 years ago

This is a fascinating place - it's quite out of the way but we found it worth the time (and the dirt roads). The visitor center has a ton of interesting things, both from the fossil beds and from Lakota artifacts. The rangers were really nice, in particular a woman who walked my children through the kids' activities. I'd recommend this to anyone who is willing to commit the extra two hours or so.

A great stop for good views and education! This gave a good break during our drive through Nebraska. The visitor center is very clean and well kept by the rangers. We appreciated the history of the area and the Native American history that’s shown in the exhibits. I’m so glad we stopped by! There’s also a few trails that can be hiked near the monument.

Don't go after 5pm nobody's out here. Literally not a soul. As far as cool rock hound place amazing. Scenery on point. Native American vibes and beautiful sunsets. Coyotes will sing you to sleep if you come after dark truly an unique experience.

We had a great experience at Agate Fossil Beds National Monument. I hiked a little over three miles with my son and our dog, and the trails were well-maintained and easy to follow. The landscape is beautiful—wide open prairie, interesting rock formations, and plenty of wildflowers even in late September. It’s a peaceful place with stunning views and a nice mix of natural beauty and history. My son enjoyed spotting details along the trail, and it was a perfect way to spend time together outdoors. The monument feels quiet and uncrowded, which made the hike even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking to explore a unique part of Nebraska’s natural and fossil history.
Jacci G — Google review
What a rare and unique collection! It's not just the fossils, the Lakota collection is also unbelievable. It's in the middle of nowhere, that's why probably not very popular. Tips: There's nothing, literally nothing within 40-50 miles. Fill up tank, make sure you have snacks.
Musavvir M — Google review
There’s a small visitors center with a museum, a theater, a gift shop and some friendly rangers. There are a couple of short trails, the fossil trail is cool as it takes you to the pit where the fossils were found. It can get hot though, no shade at all. This monument is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, but you will learn about bear dogs.
Thirteendays — Google review
We drove through and were able to park RV (towing) easily by the visitor center. It was a very nice area, but just not a lot there. The trails were very well maintained. And in all fairness, it was incredibly hot and that limited hiking greatly. There was absolutely no shade on the trails, so we may not have had the full experience of the park. We were excited however, that the trails were dog friendly. Watch for rattle snakes.

An easy break from driving ... hostess was very sweet and have us plenty of information of the museum and suggestions!! We have been driving several hours, so this was a pleasant respite. Small museum didn't take much of our time but it gave us exactly what we needed to take a break. Really enjoyed seeing the old carts from the wagon trail as well as the art on display. They didn't have a small store but it was kind of disappointing to see that most of the materials in the store were made in China. If they were more authentic I would have bought something but that is just me. It did not deviate from the enjoyment however.

The museum and hall of fame were okay. It's not very big. The stagecoaches were very interesting though and the staff was friendly. The museum was pretty good. I don't know how they left out barrel racing all together? Nothing, not one thing about it. I believe they included it as a rodeo event as long ago as 1906. May be wrong on the date, but they have definitely contributed to the attraction of rodeos and have definitely earned a place in the museum.

Bear Lake Trailhead serves as the starting and ending point for a short nature trail looping around a scenic, high-altitude lake. Due to limited parking, access to the Bear Lake Corridor may be restricted during peak times, requiring visitors to use a hiker shuttle from Estes Park Visitor Center. The area offers several popular hiking routes, including a challenging four-mile hike up Flattop Mountain and an easier trail leading to Nymph, Dream, and Emerald lakes.
I really don't know how I've always overlooked Rocky Mountain National Park. I know this is a review on Bear Lake the wild the entire park is amazing. Bear Lake is what you make of it easy or to the extreme there are so many different areas to hike from here. Great for couples singles families or even small little groups. The lake is very easy to do .8 miles it has different scenes at every corner you turn. I did the loop and then headed out to Emerald Lake I'm so glad I did.

Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park is absolutely stunning and a must-visit spot. The lake is surrounded by breathtaking mountain peaks and tall pine trees, making it a picture-perfect place for nature lovers. The trail around the lake is an easy walk, suitable for all ages, and offers beautiful views from every angle. The clear reflections of the mountains in the water are especially magical in the morning. It can get crowded during peak times, but the peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty make it worth the visit. A perfect place to relax, take photos, or start your hike deeper into the park.
Iqbal N — Google review
With postcard worthy views throughout the easy walk around this picturesque alpine lake it's quite easy to see why there are such stringent timed entry constraints for the Bear Lake Road corridor. It only takes about fifteen minutes to walk around the trail is flat and very well maintained. Definitely suggest it if you are short on time or just don't feel like going on a multiple mile long hike. As far as the timed entry permit goes if you visit during peak season and plan well enough in advanced then permits can be secured starting a month in advance. Or a limited few are released the night before. However if you cannot secure a permit you can still work around the timed entry hours either arrive early (before 5 a.m., or visit right after 6 pm.) . I would love to visit during the fall, and winter as I'm sure both seasons add their own personal beauty to the already pristine lake

We had a wonderful time here. The trails are very, very smooth. they do have a couple little rocks in them, you could probably get a large wheeled stroller through here, but I would probably still recommend a carrier if you have young kids instead. This is a very kid, friendly trail, too. Beautiful and lots of great views and picture opportunities all the way around the lake. It’s about a mile around. There are lots of people, but it doesn’t really seem like it once you’re on the trail.

One of the most popular starting points in Rocky Mountain National Park. At 9.475 ft (2900m) elevation, the air stays cool even in summer. From here, you can hike to Bear Lake Loop, Nymph Lake, Dream Lake and Emerald Lake. Parking fills up quickly for those with cars but shuttle buses are available for visitors without one. Surrounded by pine, spruce and fir forests. It's a beautiful trail.

Super easy trail that is basically paved and flat the whole loop. Took the shuttle from park n ride to make it even easier and not worry about parking. Also did the Emerald Lake trail before hand. So this is a good add-on hike if you still have energy from Emerald.

The Cheyenne Depot Museum is a captivating all-ages attraction dedicated to the Union Pacific Railroad. Housed in the historic 1887 Cheyenne Depot, it offers a glimpse into the golden age of train travel and the role of the railroad in shaping the American West. Visitors can explore photographs, artifacts, and documents that chronicle life in Cheyenne during the railroad boom of the late 1800s.
I really had a great time at this museum and learned so much! The signs are very text heavy, and probably would not be of interest to younger visitors, but they do provide a great deal of background and context for the artifacts in the museum. A trip to this museum really showcases the train history of Cheyenne and how important the union pacific railway and depot were to the growth of the city. I think kids would like this museum quite a bit. There is a train for them to play with downstairs and an extraordinary model train upstairs. The observation deck on the second floor gives you a fabulous view of trains as they enter and depart the train yard. The $10 adult admission price was more than fair. We spent about an hour this museum. There’s plenty of parking and there are clean accessible restrooms on the floors.
LS S — Google review
Definitely stop by even if you aren't into trains. Very insightful. Down side is there weren't any trains to look at or tour. So kinda of a let down. The other big boy was at a park a few miles away and fenced off and homeless people hanging around so had to make it quick to see the train.

Ascending to the summit of Prospect Mountain, this vintage European-style cable car offers breathtaking panoramic views from an impressive elevation of around 9,000 feet. In just under five minutes, visitors are whisked up over 1,000 feet above the ground, where they can take in sweeping vistas from the observation deck or explore various hiking trails that meander through this picturesque area.
The tram was hands down a highlight of our trip. Yes, pricey, but such a wonderful experience. We visited on a Friday at 9am and there was only one other group in line. We waited no longer than 15 minutes to go on the tram. Also, if you go early in the morning or late evening, you can take advantage of the discounted adult tickets. All of the staff members we encountered were very nice. One of the tram operators was especially kind to our kids after noticing they were a bit frightened. He made sure to make them feel safe, and we were very thankful for that. At the top, the view was incredible. There were a few trails, but we just decided to climb up the rocks and sit there to take in the view. The gift shop and cafe were right where the tram leaves you. There are not many options, but it's good for a quick snack.

I feel this is a Must Go! And if you're smart about it you can get cheap tickets to ride instead of paying full price. It's a short ride to the top where you'll find a small cafe and gift shop. I recommend having lunch then taking the hike to the summit! The 360 views are Spectacular, who knew Estes is actually so BIG. All the staff was Super Friendly too. Great way to spend an afternoon!
Karla T — Google review
The tram was a lot of fun and the operators were super friendly and very pleasant to chat with. At the top it's worth trying to hike up to the summit for some amazing views of the valley. The cafe was well maintained and had a decent menu. We weren't hungry but did pick up a coffee and hot cocoa. They also have alcoholic beverages but it was morning so had to pass. Prices are reasonable and online with what you'd expect. Tram was a lot of fun and gorgeous views!
B K — Google review
The ride was 5 minutes in a small compartment with no seats. View was nice going up. Cafe was closed, but the small souvenir shop was open (with bathrooms). The views were nice but I was expecting more snow-capped mountains. Nice, but not really worth the price.

Absolutely Incredible Experience! The Estes Park Aerial Tramway is hands down one of the best experiences you can have in the Rockies. The views are nothing short of breathtaking—you get a panoramic look at Estes Park, the valley, and the mountains that feels like stepping right into a postcard. What really made the trip unforgettable, though, was the staff. They were just as amazing as the view itself—friendly, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about making sure every guest had a great time. From start to finish, you feel well taken care of. If you’re in Estes Park, this is a must-do. Whether you’re here for the scenery, the adventure, or simply to soak in the beauty of Colorado, the tramway delivers on all fronts. I’d go back in a heartbeat!

Such a fun experience here in Estes Park. We had such a great time heading up to the mountain and hanging out on top. What a fun way to see things from up so high. Note: We had timed tickets and had to wait until our designated time to enter.

Hello Everyone, Now going up to the Tramway was amazing. I have been going to Estes Park for such a long time. I did not realize that this was in that location. Such beautiful site to see make sure you take a backpack, snacks, sunscreen, water, and enjoy the view. They have picnic tables and a gift shop and serve sandwich, snacks, and sweets. now you do have to pay for parking, which is $6.50 for four hours. But you can stay at this location and ride the last cart down. 3.25 time ride going up T 3h

This was our favorite activity in Estes Park. Highly recommend going in early morning. The crowds were coming in as we were finishing up. The hike at the top was the best of our trip with beautiful 360 views.

A Wanderlust Adventure offers thrilling whitewater rafting trips in Estes Park and Fort Collins, Colorado, on the Cache La Poudre River. The guides are highly praised for their expertise and ability to create a safe yet exciting experience. Visitors appreciate the emphasis on safety and the enthusiastic, knowledgeable guides who make the trip enjoyable.
We had an amazing time rafting with Jack on the BLAST tour! There were 6 in our party; two adults in their 50s & four young adults in their 20s. Only two members of our party had white water rafted before, but we all were able to participate equally after our instruction. We rafted on mostly class 3 rapids with some class 4 rapids interspersed and had so much fun! Although most of us were nervous before we started, we all agreed we'd love to come back & do it again! The whole staff at 'A Wanderlust Adventure' played an integral role in our experience & we can't recommend them enough! We rafted on June 1st in the morning and definitely encourage you to rent the wet-suit & boots; it made the experience very comfortable & enjoyable. We also purchased the photo package & were glad to be able to relive some of these exciting moments via photo/video.

It was our first time rafting and Tommy made it a great, enjoyable, and safe experience. Tommy made everyone feel safe and comfortable. He had extensive knowledge of rafting, first aid, and water safety - luckily we didn’t have to use any of it, but it’s good to know he has it. He also shared history of the surrounding area as well as info about the surrounding area & nature. The entire team made the experience fun and enjoyable. They were all professional, kind, thoughtful, and attentive while maintaining a playfulness with one another and our group. We highly recommend it, especially the beginner’s tour towards the end of the season for less experienced folks.

We had an amazing time with Wanderlust Adventure. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had Whitney as our river guide, and she was absolutely amazing! We felt safe and secure, as she was great with communicating upcoming rapids and giving clear direction. During our ride, my brother fell overboard. Whitney was able to quickly and safely pull him back into the raft. We will definitely go rafting with Wanderlust Adventure again (and Whitney!) and highly recommend this rafting company to others.

What a wonderful adventure! White water rafting had been on my 'to do' list for many years and I was estatic to be able to check it off. Dan the man (a really cool Colorado native) was our guide on the river and he steered us safely from point A to point B. I highly recommend this activity and this company! So much fun. I'm already excited for future adventures here! Everyone was super nice and helpful. 🤗

Our white water rafting trip was absolutely incredible! From start to finish, the entire crew made us feel welcome and safe. Huge shoutout to our guide, Ryan. He was hilarious, fun, and incredibly knowledgeable. He kept us laughing the whole time while also making sure we felt confident and prepared. Everyone we interacted with at the company was friendly and professional. It was such a great experience. Highly recommend to anyone looking for adventure and great vibes. Make sure to get the photo package! 5 stars all the way!

This experience was transcendental. I have rafted Class V rapids in the DR, but yesterday afternoon I saw God in the Poudre River. I cannot recommend enough taking an involuntary swim if you have the opportunity. The guides will tell you that everyone in your vessel needs a paddle, but that is not true. Definitely freeload if you can. The water is low, but the spirits are high.

New Belgium Brewing Company, founded in 1995 by a pair of beer-loving cyclists, offers a wide range of craft beers at its taproom in Fort Collins. The brewery is part of the city's vibrant craft-brewing scene, which includes other notable names like Odell Brewing Company and CooperSmith's Pub & Brewery. Visitors can take guided tours to see the brewing process firsthand and sample some of New Belgium's Belgian-style brews.
Hands down one of our favorite breweries in Asheville! You cannot go wrong with their large beer assortment. If you don’t like beer, try one of the sours or Fruit Smash Hard Seltzer. They almost always have a food truck & they offer Poppy Popcorn(local business) for sale at the counter. You can also bring your own snacks! There are many outdoor areas to choose from, some of which are covered. They are completely family & dog friendly! Just love NB for every reason!
Christine C — Google review
I had the pleasure of visiting New Belgium Brewery in Fort Collins with my daughter, my partner, and her family — and let me just say, this place exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was electric but relaxed. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and impressively knowledgeable about the beers, which made the whole tasting experience even more enjoyable. We started off with a couple of flights to get a sense of the variety, and it was hard to pick a favorite — they were that good. But once I did, I stuck with a few pours of my top picks, and every sip was a reminder of how expertly crafted their beer is. There was a Mexican food truck on-site that seriously blew us away. The food was fresh, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the beers. The indoor space was welcoming and full of energy, but it’s the outdoor area that really shines — wide open, dog-friendly, and full of life with kids running around, families laughing, and groups just enjoying the day. It felt like the backyard party you always want to be invited to. This wasn’t just a trip to a brewery — it was an experience. One of those rare places that nails everything: the beer, the food, the vibe, the people, the setting. I’d come back in a heartbeat, and I’ll be telling everyone I know to make the trip. New Belgium, you’ve got something special going on. Keep doing exactly what you’re doing.

Just a short walk from the middle of Old Town, New Belgium Brewery is worth the trip. Whether you are a fan of Fat Tire or just like to try some new beer varieties, there is something for everyone here. The large, open, outside area is an awesome place to sit and enjoy the wonderful Colorado climate and delicious beers. There was a food truck for snacking and plenty of NB paraphernalia in the gift shop.

Guessing that this is in everyone's list of breweries to visit in town. If not it should be. Fabulous facility with beautiful grounds and a relaxing vibe. All of the usual NB beers on tap and several other must-haves. The sThe staff was very accommodating and happy to engage in conversation and answer many of the same questions they get asked over and over again. Make it a stop. You won't regret it!

Got a case of beer from Costco and there's like 1 that is drinkable. The rest is fine if you like some mystery flavor. Maybe it's raspberry maybe it's dead orphan meat. Ohh this one is a nappy beer with a hint of collection of nail clippings. The worst purchase I've ever made beer wise. And I have made quite a few poor decisions in my day.
Travis — Google review
I went on this beer tour in 2022 and was so impressed that I brought a bachelor party back here in 2025. The space is beautiful, the tour is interesting (though hot for the first section, so be prepared), and for your money you get a lot of delicious beer. If you’re interested in beer or how anything is made, it’s a don’t miss. Make sure to buy tickets well in advance - they sell out fast.

This brewery has one of the nicer outside spaces; it is very open and vast. I never felt like I was sitting on top of anyone . The beer selection was great and the flights were super smooth. Overall it was a great time and I’ll definitely be back!

We went to this brewery while doing a roadtrip. We did a tour with Cynthia. It was perfect ! We absolutely loved the tour ! Very interesting and fun. I love that you get to see from the beginning to the very end of the process. We stayed after to enjoy a beer. Cynthia was very nice ! The outside area is very nice and the beers are very good ! Definitely would recommend. We even left with suggestions of what to do in Fort Collins ! Would defintely recommend to visit this place and take the tour !

Odell Brewing Company is a popular brewery located in Fort Collins, Colorado. Established in 1989, it has become a beloved spot for beer enthusiasts. The brewery offers daily tours, live music events, and on-site food trucks for visitors to enjoy. Guests can savor draft microbrews and wine from the OBC Wine Project while taking in scenic mountain views on the covered patio.
I love the atmosphere at Odell, but the fact that they offer 4 ounce pours of anything they have on tap is my favorite thing about the brewery. Their seating options are amazing and the live music is always a bonus. Everything they have on tap is delicious, too.

Such a cool place to hang out on a summer afternoon. Joe at the bar was great! We sat on the patio and enjoyed a blackberry sour and a peach blonde ale.

Visiting from out of town and stopped in for a flight and enjoyed every beer we tried. They also had live music going on Wednesday evening and it was great to sit outside and listen to the band. Family friendly, all ages, and a fun time.

A local recommended this brewery to us way back in 2013. It was our first trip to Ft Collins and only had time for one, so we ended up at the brewery we heard of before down the road. Since that time I’ve had the chance to try some Odell beer and it has become one of my favorites - especially the IPA. So I was excited to finally get to make good on that local’s recommendation 11 years later. In short, it was fantastic! The atmosphere was perfect and of course the beer was as good as it gets. Food from the truck was great as well. Can’t wait to get back!

This was the most fun! I can highly recommend the tour here. It was more intimate and local feeling than the other tour I went on, so it was fun to contrast them. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and kind. Lots of people hanging out outside as well. Left with a souvenir glass of Sippin’ Pretty. The best beers and sours!

Great little trail and so close to town! Awesome ridge line of rocks to hike along. Good vertical to get your heart rate up. Continue past the keyhole for a better workout.

So you look here and see these rad rocks, but the trail doesn't go there. The rocks are in this rich neighborhood's backyard and the trail goes through the low points where you can't see them because they didn't want to build the trail through their landfill of construction trash. So disgusting what happened to this beautiful place. I encourage you to ignore the signs and go off trail to actually enjoy this place. The yucca plants will be just fine , trust me.
Kyle C — Google review
The trail was clean, and beautiful. I enjoyed a bit of the elevation, but not so intense. The sunset at the picnic area was breathtaking. In the afternoon, the rocks covered the trails makes it a bit cooler and some shade which helps with the temperature.
CHAU N — Google review
The rock formation itself was very cool and a great surprise for an out-of-towner; however, $10 to park is absolutely nuts. There can't possibly be an excuse for this. There are a million other trails that are free and probably even more interesting.
Blake S — Google review
Devils Backbone is a good scenic trail and I would qualify it as easy. If you want to bring family you can do so. Also the trails allow dirt biking. If you do the extended hike which is 7 miles round trip there is some rock scrambling and a also very few people that far. I think it's $11 to park, overall beautiful trail.
Steve D — Google review
Great trail for walking/easy easy hiking. Good if you dont have time to reach the mountains but still want some trail time. Great place for bikers as well. Cool viewpoints overlooking the foothills and some of the nearby peaks. Easy enough for kids and dogs. Longest point is 5.5 miles out so round trip would get you near 11 miles if you wanted the full deal. Key hole lookout/viewpoint is awesome.

Beautiful hike near Loveland! After a couple of days hiking on some snowy trails in Rocky Mountain National Park, Devil's Backbone Open Space trails were a nice change for some sun, desert flora, greenery, and rocky cliffs. Definitely recommend!

Beautiful place, trails are good. Always lots of people there. Be aware they have a large population of healthy rattle snakes here during warmer months, and I cant recommend taking your dog there unless the temps stay below 50 degrees. I love running here, the trails are rocky and be difficult, but that's part of what I love about it.

Scotts Bluff National Monument is a 3,000-acre park in western Nebraska that showcases unique rock formations and remnants of the Oregon Trail. Rising 800ft above the plains, it served as a crucial landmark for travelers on the Oregon Trail in the mid-19th century. The visitor center offers informative displays and guided walks and drives up the bluff, where visitors can still see wagon ruts from that era.
We loved the drive up to the bluff. Driving through the 3 tunnels. The views up top are beautiful. You can see both towns below. The two trails we did went to the north and south overlooks. One was 1/8 of a mile, the other about 3/4. It was windy and warm! Staff were great at the visitor center and we even got to learn about different animals and see a wolf fur and jaw cast. My kids loved that part! The video was great and educational, I would recommend watching it. Bathrooms were clean. A great gift shop too. If you look off into the distance, you can see chimney rock.
Jill H — Google review
Scott's Bluff was quite an amazing place that was above anything we even expected. Not only did we have access to the grounds, but we were able to drive up to the top where there were tunnels, hiking trails, vistas and overlooks. We were quite impressed by the scale and was surprised to see anything like this in Nebraska. This was also on the path of the Oregon Trail, something we found out while we were there. It was a nice find between the Badlands and Denver.
Chris — Google review
This is a pretty place, but basically you drive to the top and have some great views from there. However there are no pullouts along the way. Oh yeah, there are a couple trails at the top. A big negative was access to the drive closes at 5 or 5:30 pm. My first day there I wasn't aware of this and wanted to get some sunset photos from the top. That was nixed obviously. You can hike to the top at any time, but I suppose that's for youngsters and folks who are in good shape. I will say the visitor center was outstanding.
Scott M — Google review
I was able to take this area in for only a short drive up to the top. It was a great view from the top. I would love to return to hike up it as a section is a hiking tunnel. The park ranger at the gate was very friendly and informative. Another pair of rangers were at the top and clearly engaged with visitors. Great job team!
Dan ( — Google review
My daughter and I recently visited Scotts Bluff National Monument, and it was an experience we’ll never forget. The towering bluffs rise dramatically from the plains, creating a stunning backdrop that’s even more breathtaking in person. We took our time exploring the trails and scenic overlooks, and every angle offered a new perspective of the sweeping Nebraska landscape. What really stood out, though, was the historical significance of this place. Walking where pioneers once traveled along the Oregon Trail made the visit feel both educational and meaningful, connecting us to a part of American history you can’t fully grasp from a textbook alone. The visitor center added even more context with its exhibits and friendly staff, who were happy to answer questions and share stories. If you haven’t been to Scotts Bluff before, I can’t recommend it enough. Whether you’re drawn by the history, the scenery, or simply the chance to spend time outdoors, it’s a destination worth making the trip for—you’ll walk away with memories that last.
Jeremy G — Google review
No entry fee for this NPS site. Fantastic views at the top. Wonderful history. Never knew Nebraska had this much elevation change. Definitely a must stop if you’re getting from Denver to the Black Hills as we were doing.

They have the best people who work and volunteer here. We loved the talk that Caleb gave about bighorn sheep in the area. The man who met us at the entrance was super friendly and helpful. Doug, a volunteer, was great as well. The drive to the top is definitely worth it.

Benson Sculpture Garden is a charming city park located in Loveland, Colorado, right next to the picturesque Lake Loveland. Spanning 10 acres of verdant land that was once part of the Benson homestead, this garden showcases 154 eclectic and unique sculptures. The artistic styles range from representational to abstract, with materials including metal and stone. Some sculptures are serious while others are whimsical, offering a diverse and captivating experience for visitors.
What a rare find! While visiting from out of state, we were looking for something to kill some time and decided to stop by the Sculpture Garden to check it out. It is super neat to be able to walk around in the park and check out various sculptures. We didn't make it through the whole thing since we only had 30 minutes, but if we are in the area again, it will be on our list of things to go back and visit!

This is an enchanting experience that combines beautiful landscape and sculpture to tell a story. It's a very unique experience and a good way to get some steps in as you walk around the garden to view each sculpture in it's setting. My favorite setting, the bunny in the cabbage patch...so clever. And of course since I collect elephants I'd have to give them a nod as well. I didn't make it through both sides of the garden. The weather was changing and I came from out of town...

Left Hand Brewing Company, originally established as Indian Peaks Brewing Company in 1994, has become one of the most celebrated craft breweries in the United States. The brewery is renowned for its iconic Milk Stout Nitro, which played a significant role in popularizing nitrogenated craft beers across America. Visitors to the Longmont brewing facility can partake in complimentary hour-long behind-the-scenes tours led by experienced guides, providing insights into the brewhouse, bottling hall, and cellar.
My girlfriend and I stopped by Left Hand Brewing to end our day in Longmont. I was pleasantly surprised with the Beer Garden and how well it was set up. There were plenty of seating options, with many of them being well-shaded. They had a band playing in the grassy area, and the bathrooms were easy to find. The beers themselves were great! I got the Peanut Butter Milk Stout, which did taste like drinking a peanut butter cup. My girlfriend had the St. Vrain Gingerbread Cider, which was a nice and light cider for the hot day.

Great brewery with TONS of beer selections. A fun, welcoming atmosphere with a moderate sized taproom and a large outdoor venue. The food truck is sneaky good as well. Try the steak and avocado grilled cheese if they have it 🤙

Fantastic selection and so many stout options. I would ask for a couple samples and pick a pint size glass versus going for a flight. $3.50 for a 5 oz versus $5 for a pint is a bit extreme. I should have asked about pricing beforehand but my flight end up being $23, I would not have selected it if I knew that before.

Finally made the pilgrimage from NYC to Left Hand Brewing in Longmont Colorado to taste my favorite bottled Stout fresh from the tap. A perfect pour of Nitro Milk Stout from Fabulous Bartender Grant produced a more smooth and creamy consistency than the bottle, much like a Guinness, but the flavor was not much different from a bottle that has traveled all the way to NYC. Amazing!! I don’t know how they produce such a great taste out of the bottle. Thx Team Left Hand! Cheers…… Keep em coming❤️🔥❤️🙏🏻

Left Hand Brewing is an outstanding brewery in Longmont CO. I have tried a few of their stouts that are distributed by me. When I found myself in Longmont I jumped at the chance to try out the brewery. As expected, they have more variety at the brewery and it always tastes a little better fresh off the line. On my stope they had: a pils, Juicy hazy IPA, a strong ESB, fruited sour, Belgian tripel, barrel aged Belgian Tripel, milk stout on CO2 and nitro, peanut butter milk stout on CO2 and nitro, Russian imperial stout, Russian double imperial stout, winter warmer nitro, wheat nitro, porter nitro, mango hibiscus Belgian white nitro, 2 different blondes on nitro, lager, IPA, lemon shandy, Double imperial milk stout, and double imperial peanut butter milk stout. They also carry a variety of kombucha, cider, tasty seltzers, cocktails, and NA options. Left Hand has great beer tenders. They are cheerful and happy to give recommendations. The brewery has several places to sit inside, outside, or belly up to the bar. They have a food truck dishing great eats. They also host several activities. I really enjoyed my experience and the beer here and stopped a couple times on my trip, you should put Left Hand on your list.

From the Beer Garden to the main bar this place is impressive! The Beer Garden was charming— outdoor seating, corn hole, space to play, and good tunes. That bar had a combination of drafts (maybe 7 choices?), non alcoholic beverages, and gluten free options. The main bar was super cozy. They had 30+ drafts in there! I'd highly recommend this place!

Tonight I attended a nighttime historical haunted walking tour in Longmont. What a great and fun event for a spooky October evening! The tour guides were so knowledgeable and so qualified to present on their topics, which made the tour very enjoyable, lush with stories about the old buildings, the eclectic characters who lived in town AND the documented paranormal investigations topped with chilling and captivating local lore. I learned so much. A special thanks to Dr. Keenan for her wonderful stories. A truly fun outing! Highly recommend!

Great museum with fun activities for young kids. The tree house space is awesome, and the whole family loved the (temporary) Lego exhibit. The building in itself is also pretty cool, and the staff is really kind.

A great local museum. Their core exhibit takes you through the history of Longmont over 100 plus years and is very interesting to go through. This portion of the exhibit is free. There are other rotating exhibits which are an additional charge and have been quite varied and get changed up frequently. We always look for what's going on at the museum to plan another visit! More recent new exhibit - agriCULTURE - teaming up local artists with local farms. An update. Continued new, high quality exhibits on a regular basis. A great recent example is the Picasso prints exhibit. Who knew? A person in Fort Collins has this collection of over 60 prints! Priceless!

Great experience for all ages. Wonderful nature themed play area for the little ones upstairs that has puppets and wooden games, on the 2nd floor there's a vintage arcade game and a small chunk of the moon with some interesting moon related facts, the lower level has an area dedicated to the 100 year flood, historical local photography, and local history. We played with the flood game for like 15 minutes! Highly recommend for an hour or two of fun.

A really well-done history museum with interesting displays and a clear narrative. And there are lots of old-school interactive elements that are great for kids. (I liked the one where you divert water to where it needs to go.) The "Duality" gallery curated by Gregg Deal is really amazing - contemporary works by indigenous artists. Definitely a must-see. Then for kids, there is a treehouse play area up in the tower that's a lot of fun and had great views.

I came for the free concert. Foggy Mountain Spaceship delivered all kinds of ear candy. I’ll come back for the museum exhibits next.

The Colorado Model Railroad Museum in Greeley is a hidden gem for railway enthusiasts and curious visitors alike. This 5,500-square-foot facility houses an impressive collection of meticulously crafted artifacts, including over 500 scale locomotives and a vintage train track spanning 80 miles. The highlight of the museum is the massive 3D model railroad exhibit, featuring intricately detailed trains and over 28,000 handcrafted trees and scenery.
This is such a great model railroading museum. It has a very wonderful layout, with interactive components. We went on a day when there was a large variety of visitors. There were young children, older children, even older visitors. I loved watching the volunteers run the trains. They even offered information about certain parts of the layout. It was time well spent!

Had an amazing time! Went to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary and had tons of fun finding all of their hidden items. The volunteers were incredibly kind and even gave us a behind the scenes tour after they closed. Wonderful place with wonderful people. The trains and the models were fun to watch and interact with. Cannot wait to go again.

Great fun for the whole family! It was worth the short trek from Fort Collins to see something completely different. I'd recommend coming when volunteers are there running the trains (3 days a week), because you can ask questions and they will tell you some jokes. The miniature displays were fascinating, as much as the trains themselves. The scavenger hunt was fun for the kids, and they got a little prize at the end even if they missed a few.

My grandkids absolute favorite place.. We've been members for 12+ years now and we visit all the time. The staff is amazing and the exhibits are so cool. After all this time we still find little details in the scenes. We love the view from the top of the caboose and the Lego train set up is always a highlight as well. This museum is a true GEM in Greeley!

What a beautiful HO scale layout featuring 25 scale miles of track, beautiful scenery, multi era buildings and an incredible amount of memorabilia. The volunteers are fantastic. We look forward to spending more time here, after we move into the area in the coming weeks.

The Palace in Poudre Canyon is absolutely amazing! Offers obscene amounts of routes and climbing, not so much bouldering, but a few routes hiding around. Awesome hiking and a lot of places to explore here! If you climb though this is a Mecca. You will run into plenty of people who are in general fairly nice and willing to stop and talk!!! Super beautiful scenery and lots to do!! Wouldn’t recommend bringing your kids and family unless your a family in the climbing scene!
