Wineries & Vineyards
Located in the heart of Napa Valley, Judd's Hill Winery & MicroCrush is a family-owned winery that offers a unique and artistic approach to winemaking. The family, known for their artistic expressions in painting, poetry, and music, sees wine as another form of art. While they produce traditional varietals like Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, they also offer uncommon blends such as Grenache and Viognier.
I love Judd’s hill, it’s a family owned winery and is such a calm relaxed space. The people there really take time to make the tasting special, it was my birthday and they put my name on the tasting menu, such a sweet touch. I really liked their wines and feel that it’s a nice gem in the napa valley, close to napa city and tucked away, very quiet and serene for an afternoon :) I would reccomend this winery !
Tamar W — Google review
CJ was so informative and fascinating to listen to. I was designated driver for this winery so can't speak to the wine (my girlfriends liked it!), but I loved the experience and would happily return.
Claire S — Google review
Great wineries! It was a blast to come over for their wine tasting! We were introduced about how the wines were made, the fire, and the contacts the winery made with the farmers. Such a great amount of knowledge! The wines here were extremely good. The Chardonnay and the white wines were pretty standard, with some of the mixing ones standing out as having a great ore&after taste. The ones I like the most were the 2011 mix, as it gave a little bit of bitterness initially, but it went away quickly to leave on the fruit flavors. The popular rose was fine, but a little sour and not outstanding for me. The estate was fantastic. It was definitely a very good made with little taste of alcohol, but yet you can tell the wine was deep and strong. The fruit ness of the grape mixed really well with everything else, giving you a great aroma as well as the richness of the grape - simply a condensed feeling. We had a fun blind tasting event suggested by the staff. We enjoyed it a lot and were offered with some sweet wines later on! Their sweet wine was on point, not as sweet as the ice wines I had in Canada so I bought two back. Fantastic experience in a great yard. Love it a lot!

Last day for Ryan but we super enjoyed his knowledge of grapes. Loved the samples we tried and got a couple bottles to go.

Had a lovely time! It felt really mellow there and we had a view to look at while we sampled wine. I did the cab flight, which had some really great tasting wines. Rose was super friendly and got us a last minute appointment.
Terra S — Google review
The fantastic wines were our second favorite thing about Judd's Hill. Our host CJ was first - a great educator, storyteller and comedienne.
Trent T — Google review
We had such a great time at our tasting today! Todd was very friendly and gave us a personalized tasting. We learned a lot about the different varieties and some history of the valley. The wines were excellent. We will definitely be back.
John B — Google review
Our experience at Judd's hill is the highlight of our entire vacation in Napa. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Todd, and he gave us the most personal and intimate wine tasting experience we have ever had. He stayed with us for 2 hours, leaving only to grab more wine. He is funny, charming and knowledgeable, and we learned so much from him. We enjoyed our experience so much that we came back the next day for the "make your own blend" session. It was unique in that we could take samples directly from the barrel and create a red blend that was specific to our palate. We even got to design the label on the bottle. These personal bottles (along with our picture holding them in the vineyard) will be the centrepiece of our cellar. Thanks Todd!

Revathi K — Google review
It's a nice well kept trail adjacent to UC Davis. There are redwood trees planted there many years ago and plants with their name on a placard in front so you know what you're looking at. The "lake" they're building right now hasn't been completed so the creek is dirty and muddy but promises to be clear and full of life soon. It's adjacent to free parking on the weekends which is a plus and within walking distance to a Farmer's Market and restaurants.
Paul K — Google review
The atmosphere is refreshing and peaceful, with beautiful flowers blooming all around. It’s a perfect place to observe and learn about nature
Biw S — Google review
The walking trail for the UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden starts at the parking lot of the Davis Commons Shopping Center. It’s a great place to talk a walk before or after eating at one of the great restaurants at the Davis Commons Shopping Center. There is a paved trail that leads you along Putah Creek that runs through the UC Davis campus. You should be able to walk to the UC Davis Arboretum within a mile or so. It’s a peaceful place to walk, ride your bike or walk your dog. You will see plenty of wildlife and various plants/trees along your walk. This trip we probably only walked about 0.5 miles and turned back around as my mother-in-law was getting tired. If you are in Davis, you should stop by and take a stroll to enjoy nature.
Jonathan S — Google review
A lovely trail to recharge on a summer evening after a workday. An easy walk along the creek, passing through gardens, pines, redwoods, and oaks - perfect for finding shade on hot summer days.
Ekaterina M — Google review
A beautiful little path winds through lots of wonderful spices and different plants. Holding hands with my loved one is the best thing.
Balabala W — Google review
Spent so long trying to figure out the parking. I didn't have time to even go in the arboretum like I planned. I called ahead of time downloaded the amp parking app. Before I went there was told if I had trouble going to headquarters I went in there was towed to park in any sea lot did that but that was for all day not hourly as I needed. So then I called the parking department they told me the amp doesn't do hourly right. By then I was hungry, got something to eat and tried to renew or pay for parking and couldn't do it. So I left without even going in the arboretum. The parking sucks. It's not user friendly. Very confusing and so frustrating. There's got to be a better way for visitors to go to the arboretum

The California State Capitol Museum is a historic institution that offers an elegant and comprehensive look into the history of California through its exhibits and artifacts. The museum is part of the Free Museum Day, where visitors can explore various local museums for free. As you approach the museum, the grandeur of the California State Capitol building comes into view, with its impressive architecture and ornate interior.
This was my first time here. I didn’t get to go inside, but still an amazing view from the outside. Beautiful park surrounding it. Lots of places to sit, relax or set up a picnic area and eat. It’s bustling with people. There’s food trucks around the block. The building is absolutely amazing. They don’t make buildings like these anymore. The architecture, the design, so much thought put into building these older buildings next time. Hopefully I’ll be able to go inside.

Free entrance.open only weekdays. There is a gift shop but it's kind of hidden. No restaurant. MANY bathrooms on every floor. About 1/2 the rooms aren't accessible but they have the others set up as they were for their their period theme. If you like this kind of stuff definitely worth visiting. Top floor has portrates of the previous governors of the state.
Al C — Google review
A must-visit when you’re in Sacramento! The California State Capitol Museum is beautifully preserved and full of history. The architecture is stunning, from the marble hallways to the grand dome, every corner tells a story. The exhibits are well curated, offering a fascinating look into California’s political and cultural past.
Wesley C — Google review
Its free and a lot of information if you choose a tour guide. It was lovely to hear the music as we walked in the Capitol; they are having musical selections which varies during the week. It was very nice visit. The capitol is beautiful and regal. Im glad they decided to keep it just as it was. The attendee (forgot her name: curly hair and beautiful spirit) at the gift shop was so welcoming and amazing 👏 🤩. We had a nice time
Fran F — Google review
This is a really interesting space and could be worth a stop if you’re in town — it’s free to enter (brief security checkpoint accessible on 2 sides), and takes just a few minutes to cruise the palatial halls and get some breathtaking neoclassical architecture! The millwork is spectacular, with carved bears on the bannisters and rich filigree on nearly every surface. If you appreciate nothing else, the craftsmanship is next level. It’s almost perpetually under construction, so be aware that not all areas are always accessible and the space is actively being used for government functions — so be respectful around the more private sections while cruising around inside. The ground floor plays host to a few historical rooms preserved for your viewing pleasure, and a small exhibit or two depending on construction. The elevators are full of gorgeous art-deco metalwork and operate relatively quickly. You can also climb the elegant stairs on one side of the main rotunda. There’s a cute gift shop and restaurant in the basement as well. This is quite a structure. If you like epic structures you’ll probably enjoy a quick stop in as I mentioned before. Grounds outside are good for photo ops too.
Noah — Google review
Interesting free self guided walk through of historic portions of the Capitol building. Current exhibits focus on historical photography in and of California. Some impressive architecture and craftsmanship to be enjoyed.
Rich C — Google review
One of the most beautiful capitals I've visited! There is a lot of construction going on currently but you can find paid street parking. They give tours. There's a robotic coffee shop nearby that's really neat too!
T H — Google review
Being at the capitol felt meaningful as someone from Maine to visit the Capitol of another state. They have scheduled tours during the week, usually every hour from ten in the morning until four in the afternoon. You can sign up at the information desk right inside the rotunda. Downstairs there is a small museum with exhibits and a short film about the building's history. They also have a few restored offices that show how things looked in the past. It was good. I learned a lot. Outside is a large park area, about forty acres, with guided walks available on certain days. There are trees from all over the world, war memorials, and plaques that give a sense of the state's past. It felt quiet and informative, not flashy, but steady and respectful. More than anything, it made the idea of state government feel a little more real.

The California State Railroad Museum, located in Old Sacramento, is a vibrant and educational destination for history enthusiasts. The museum offers an extensive collection of vintage locomotives and engaging exhibits that delve into the impact of railroads on the development of western states. With over 20,000 square feet of interactive displays, visitors can explore the history of steam engines, the role of railroads in agriculture, and even view a remarkable assortment of 1,000 vintage toy trains.
A Memorable Visit to the California State Railroad Museum Visiting the California State Railroad Museum was truly an unforgettable experience. As soon as I stepped inside, I was impressed by the size of the locomotives and the detail in every exhibit. I could feel the rich history of the railroad era coming to life right in front of me. What I enjoyed most was seeing the beautifully restored trains up close — especially the luxury passenger cars and old steam engines. Walking through them made me imagine what it must have been like to travel across the country by rail many years ago. I also gained a lot of new insights into how the railroad shaped California’s growth and connected communities. The museum does a great job of combining technology, history, and storytelling. There were even interactive exhibits that made learning fun and engaging. Overall, I truly enjoyed my time at the museum and left with a deeper appreciation for the role of railroads in American history. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in history, transportation, or simply looking for a meaningful experience.
Mixmix F — Google review
We visited the railway museum right when it opened and were warmly greeted by the staff as they opened the doors. The ticket prices are quite affordable, and the museum itself is clean and well-maintained. The staff and volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable — they took time to explain the history and details of the trains on display. The museum features a wide variety of train exhibits, and there’s even a dedicated floor for kids to play with model trains and watch them move around, which was a fun highlight. Parking is available either at metered street spots or in a nearby garage, which costs around $20 per day. Overall, it was an enjoyable and educational experience for both adults and kids.
Yoke A — Google review
When seeing a museum of mechanical engineering i absolutely believe the people that restored and continue to maintain these locomotives and cars are beyond expertise. The staff is absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable. Perfectly located in old sacramento for a whole day of fun.
David M — Google review
Had a fantastic time at the California State Railroad Museum! As two adults, we weren’t sure what to expect, but we ended up having so much fun. The scavenger hunt was a great touch, and the exhibits are very interactive with full-size trains you can explore. The museum is well-maintained, with a lot to see and learn. Staff members are friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. A must-visit if you’re into museums or looking for a unique, engaging experience in Sacramento.
Janine N — Google review
Probably one of the top five railroad museums I’ve been to in the country. Very well done, plane to read, and space for the little ones to run around too. Don’t miss the model trains and the kid play area on the second floor!
Alexander W — Google review
Went here on a Friday around 4pm not to crowed. Lots of history, great info, but you really need at least 2 hours not 1 hour we were speed walking, but still saw and read at least 85%. No senior or disabilities discount. May just have to go back.
Tyler G — Google review
Top notch experience for 1-90 years old. Real historic train carriages and locomotives on display with knowledgeable staff that will engage in interesting conversation. And that $12 per person fee is a steal which is less than half the price of nearly every museum nowadays! Second floor section is dedicated to model trains which brings smile to children. Highly recommended
Frederick — Google review
Be prepared to have your mind blown! This place was a must to see with or without kids. First the cost of it was inexpensive to other museums. Child 6-17 was $6, 17+ was $12 free under 5. Interactive museums are truly the best way to learn and this was a well thought out museum. We also enjoyed that they had many old timers who knew all about the history and trains walking around as volunteers who clearly loved and enjoyed talking to kids and adults alike. The history museum is next door and was such a let down in comparison so maybe skip that one or see it first, before you go into the train museum.

What a beautiful winery! Everything is done really well. The main buildings are all beautifully built and just amazing to look at. We came and stopped by their market which is huge and has tons of options. We got paninis, cheese, bread, jams, drinks, and has a beautiful picnic. They have a whole lawn area with tons of picnic tables and benches to sit and enjoy a picnic on. Definitely recommend if you want a beautiful winery that doesn’t require reservations

Had a great experience at V. Sattui Winery! Our host was very knowledgeable and shared amazing stories that really enhanced the visit. The wines were excellent—some of the best we’ve tasted. The location is gorgeous, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy. Plus, their fine food market is impressive with a fantastic selection. Highly recommend stopping by!

Review for V. Sattui Winery - St. Helena, CA We had a wonderful experience wine tasting at V. Sattui Winery. The reservation process was simple and straightforward, and check-in at the front was quick and pleasant. We were seated right away at the Mercato Bar, where Jacob, our Bar Sommelier, made the experience exceptional. He was knowledgeable, energetic, and genuinely welcoming, which set a great tone for our visit. The wines we sampled were delicious, and the cheeseboard was excellent -- especially the tiny yellow pickle peppers, which became my favorite item. The on-site market offers a great selection of snacks, and all of their wines are available for purchase to take home. This winery also has a beautiful outdoor area, making it perfect for a date or a picnic. The grounds are stunning, and the staff were consistently kind and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would happily return.

The V. Sattui Winery in St. Helena is definitely representative of the more traditional Italian vineyard. I went with my family in early July 2025, and immediately felt as if I had been whisked away to Tuscany. Despite the stunning architecture, there was quite a bit of construction 🚧 happening - and much of the vineyard seemed to be cordoned off. We decided to visit the vineyard the day of, and this was no problem because we didn’t need a reservation. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and open to patrons that purchase wine. It has a relaxed, picnic-friendly vibe which equally made it inviting. Their wines for sale were plentiful and well-curated, with standout Chardonnays and a few delightful surprises among the rosé and dessert wines. The on-site deli is a great bonus - and perfect for grabbing small bites, sandwiches or charcuterie to enjoy on the lawn. Overall the staff were super friendly despite being very busy, and the wines we tried were delicious!
Tania W — Google review
Wine tasting made easy and affordable! Also a lot of fun when Bart and Eduardo team up to serve the customers. It’s difficult to find a place that offers such a wide range of grapes and varieties. The tasting customers sit around a large ring shaped bar. The premium tasting consists of five wines. There’s no rush and tasters have plenty of time to clear their pallet prior to moving to the next wine. We had a blast and suggest you give it a go.
Chuck C — Google review
We visited Sattui Winery in Napa and enjoyed the beautiful grounds and relaxed picnic area. The tasting experience was nice, with a good variety of wines to choose from. The deli had a great selection of cheeses and snacks to pair with the wine. However, it can get quite crowded, especially on weekends, and parking may be a bit tricky. Overall, it’s a charming place to spend an afternoon, especially if you enjoy casual outdoor wine tasting.

For the ones that believe in divine intervention, this review is for you. My husband and I decided to celebrate our 10 year anniversary at this winery. We had a tasting booked for 12 o’clock. The grounds were gorgeous and beautiful. It was a perfect day for wine tasting. Once we entered the tasting room, we were going to the bar to the To the right of the room, but something in my spirit told me to go all the way to the back bar, and that is when I was able to be served by Justin. His customer service was superb. For once in my life, I did not feel like I was a black woman in Napa standing out, but I just felt like I was an individual being taken care of the right way. Justin just made you feel important. I do not know what y’all pay Justin but he definitely deserves a raise. and this was my first time coming to the winery just an FYI!

V. Sattui Marketplace offers an overwhelming and truly impressive shopping experience that stands apart from the typical winery visit. The marketplace provides a gigantic, meticulously curated selection of specialty foods. The cheese and charcuterie offering alone is massive, showcasing exceptional quality across various styles and origins. Beyond the meats and cheeses, you can find a breadth of local and imported olive oils and other gourmet items. If you are looking to build the perfect picnic basket with high intensity flavors and complex, ready-to-eat pairings, the V. Sattui Marketplace is the definitive destination in Napa Valley.

Sights & Landmarks
Nestled on 171 acres near one of California's oldest vineyards, Castello di Amorosa is a remarkable 13th-century-style Tuscan castle in Napa Valley. The castle, built by fourth-generation winemaker Dario Sattui, boasts over 100 rooms and features authentic medieval architecture with a moat, drawbridge, torture chamber, and defensive towers.
What an incredible experience at Castello di Amorosa! 🏰🍷 From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like royalty. The castle itself is breathtaking — every hallway, courtyard, and tower feels like stepping into a piece of Tuscany right here in Napa Valley. Our wine tasting was the highlight — beautifully guided, perfectly paced, and full of fascinating stories about the winemaking process. Each wine was unique and delicious, and our host did an amazing job helping us discover new favorites. The tour of the castle added so much to the experience — the architecture, the underground cellars, the medieval-style great hall, even the dungeon — all meticulously detailed and authentic. We ended the visit with a few bottles to take home and some stunning photos from the terrace overlooking the vineyards. 🌿🍇 If you’re visiting Napa, Castello di Amorosa is an absolute must — a perfect blend of history, beauty, and exceptional wine. My husband loves their red wines while I love their sweet wines 😍 We bought 23 cases of wines for our wedding ❤️ the best place to taste wine ever🍷✨ Our favorite wines: La Fantasia, Il Passito, Il Barone, Vermentino,

We had an absolutely amazing experience at this winery! My husband and I joined the tour on October 16, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide, Gonzalo was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. He shared so many great wine recommendations and stories that made the whole experience both educational and fun. We loved every tasting and ended up buying bunch of wines and joining the wine club because the wines were just that good! Thank you for creating such wonderful memories for us — we can’t wait to come back again someday. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!

A fairytale winery come to life! Touring Castello di Amorosa was like stepping into another world — part medieval castle. The attention to detail in the architecture is breathtaking — from the stone towers and grand halls to the underground cellars that make you feel like you’re in Tuscany. Our guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the winemaking process. The wines were exceptional — especially the reds and the late harvest wines — and the tasting experience felt both intimate and luxurious. You can tell every bottle is crafted with care and pride. Whether you’re a wine lover or just looking for an unforgettable experience, Castello di Amorosa is an absolute must-see. 🍷🏰

Castello di Amorosa is fun, unique, and full of interesting history — just be prepared for crowds. Our tour was excellent and our guide, Cynthia (Cindy), was the absolute best! She’s worked there forever, had tons of great information, and her humor made the whole experience even better. The tasting was delicious, and we loved getting to walk around the castle afterward to explore and take photos. It’s a beautiful property. One tip: have your reservation confirmation pulled up on your phone when you arrive at the gate. Overall, a really enjoyable experience and definitely worth a visit!

Castello di Amorosa winery is located in this beautiful castle that is supposedly, according to some ratings and a poster on the entrance, one of the top 10 castles in the world. It is a small castle but adds to the experience of wine tasting. The staff is mostly Italian. Our host, Julio, did a great job at explaining the wines and making suggestions. We liked their red blend and their cabs. Good experience.

Everyone told us to visit, though we were not anticipating being impressed with a "castle" built a few years ago. We had visited the sister winery, V. Sattui, which was amazing, and hoped for the best. "Everyone" was right! We were impressed with the beauty and architectural integrity of the structure and then wowed by the wine! Truly remarkable tasting of 5 wines and difficult to say what was our favorite!
Quita S — Google review
The castle is absolutely beautiful and perfect for photos — such a unique setting! The variety of wines at the tasting was pretty good, and overall the wine was enjoyable, though there’s plenty of great wine to be found throughout the area. What I didn’t love was the tour — it felt rushed and not very engaging compared to others I’ve done. Since the castle was actually built in the early 2000s, it lacks real historical background, and the experience felt more focused on selling wine and memberships than on sharing any authentic wine history.
Gunila M — Google review
Wow, love this castle. Makes me I'm in England, Germany, or Italy. The grape juice the red and white one was so perfectly fruity and sweet and yummy. The tour is so much fun to explore with the family and friends. The scenic view is awesome especially the flowers and the grape vineyards. I would love to come back again.

Safari West is a remarkable destination in wine country, offering an extraordinary experience for those seeking a break from traditional wine tasting. Established by animal care experts and conservationists, Peter and Nancy Lang, this 400-acre African game animal preserve provides an unparalleled opportunity to encounter a diverse array of animals from Africa. From rhinos to giraffes, zebras to cheetahs, the preserve houses nearly 1,000 exotic animals.
We held our annual team outing at Safari West and it was so much fun! We had 3 private tour jeeps to accommodate our large party. Our tour guides were very knowledgeable about the park and all of the wildlife occupying the park. It was very clear to see and hear the passion they have for the animals, the care that they provide, and the team that they work with. After our tour, we immediately had lunch that was set up for us in the dining area. The food was very delicious and offered a variety of options. Thank you, Safari West for such an incredible time!

Our family stayed over night. Had dinner that evening & took the safari tour the next day. Dinner was excellent, the property was immaculate, and we loved the tour. Our tour guide, Cindy, was knowledgeable & worked hard to make sure we were able to see all the animals. The animals appeared to be well cared for. Our 4- year-old granddaughter had a blast walking through the property & visiting all the animals. A special thanks to the staff for holding onto a piece of luggage that the airline lost & then delivered after we departed.

We did the overnight glamping experience for a birthday/retirement party. The beef Brisket buffet dinner was excellent. We'll seasoned melt in your mouth Brisket and chicken buffet had vegan options. Chocolate desserts and camp fire smores. The tents were surprisingly cozy. Electric blankets are provided alone with portable space heaters. Nice hot showers attached to the tent. The only drawback is the bathrooms aren't heated. But sre well designed with natural wood & stone. Breakfast in the morning before our afternoon tour with educated guides in 4WD trucks. With everything from ring tailed lemurs, zebras,Watusi cattle, Rhinos and water buffaloes. This was my 3rd visit, but first overnight. I recommend the overnight experience.

Absolutely loved the wildlife safari in the midst of wine country. Justin was our guide and he was super cool and super good. Loved the way he interacted with all the guests in his safari vehicle. He's a gem. The wild animals are kept in enclosures, some closed enclosures like the cheetahs, the rhino, the giraffes...and some in open spaces like the zebras, the antelopes...The avian enclosure is also very good. Of the animals the cheetahs I felt were the star attraction. The way Justin explains the behaviour, the nature, the habits of the different animals and birds is just awesome. And his one liner jokes and the quiz questions for the guests while on his truck is too good. The snacks store is also well stocked up, the hot chocolate is the one to go all out for. The souvenir store is cool. Sure to do an overnight stay over at the place next time.

Experience is amazing. Our tour guide Bianca was amazing.. she was knowledgeable with good sense of humor. Nice seat rotation policy. Great... But for the set of animals and overall it's pricey...

We didn't stay in the cabins (they look nice), but everything else was chef's kiss. The guides and staff were cool, the food and vibes were good and the animals looked healthy and well cared for. We would like to go back for a behind-the-scenes tour the next time we visit. Very nice and peaceful place.

I enjoyed the weekend Glamping and marveling at the amazing animals. The experience was fantastic. The tent cabin was super cozy, the staff was friendly and professional. The onsite cafe served super tasty meals. You cannot get bored at Safari West, or go hungry. The experience is way different from that of a zoo, with the animals wandering freely around the property and in select fenced areas. The three hour safari ride around the property was fun and interesting, offering close up views of a number of animal I've only seen in books, on TV, or on YouTube. Treat yourself, your family and friends. Book a trip to Safari West.

We went for my birthday. We did the 2 pm reservation and 7pm dinner. Gina was our Tour Guide and she was amazing. She was very friendly, knowledgeable, and took my parties jokes well. We stayed the night in Tent 22 which was AWESOME! I loved that you could hear the wild life during the night. If you’re used to having a TV to watch you will not get that here. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious and all you can eat. They do make S’more and show a movie in the evening which is a nice treat. You can also go on night time exploring if you wish.

Thunder Valley Casino Resort is a modern hotel and casino offering various dining options, a pool, spa, and conference facilities. The resort has been recognized for hosting live performances by acclaimed artists like Steele. Visitors have praised the diverse selection of games available at the casino and appreciated the cleanliness and maintenance of the premises. Guests who use rewards cards can benefit from perks such as complimentary nights and free gifts.
I was in Rocklin on a date and decided to stop by Thunder Valley Casino Resort since it’s only about 10 minutes away — and wow, what a night. Walked in with a few hundred, played some slots and blackjack, and ended the night up $1,300 plus a beautiful room at an amazing rate. The staff were amazing — friendly, upbeat, and genuinely made the experience feel special. The drinks were perfect too — their bartenders know how to mix a drink just right, and the service all night was top-tier. Our room was spotless and came stocked with thoughtful extras — shave kits, soaps, bubble bath sets, slippers — little things that make a huge difference. It felt more like a luxury resort stay than just a quick casino stop. And I’ve got to mention the gift shop — picked up an awesome Thunder Valley jacket that I haven’t been able to take off all week. I’ve been telling everyone the story of that night — from the big win to the great people — because it really was that memorable. Between the welcoming staff, great drinks, and lucky tables, Thunder Valley absolutely delivered. This was my first time really playing here, but definitely not my last. Can’t wait to come back for round two soon!

Regular here; rooms are always clean and staff is very helpful from hotel. Room service is hit and miss. Rooms most have been remodeled. Suites have jetted tubs and have a very large bathroom. All rooms have amazing soaking tubes and separate showers. Love bathroom set up. Pool is great especially when no kids around. Drinks are great Poole

I had a great time at Thunder Valley. The casino is clean and well-maintained, and both the restaurants and restrooms were nicely kept. One thing I’ve never loved about casinos is having to walk through smoking areas to reach the non-smoking section. I understand that smoking is part of the casino atmosphere, but not all gamblers are smokers. But there is a non smoking section so that's cool. The concert venue was surprisingly decent, and the spa was excellent—very relaxing and beautifully designed. Staff throughout the hotel were consistently welcoming and friendly, and there’s plenty of parking available, which made things easy. Cons: The rewards program was disappointing. If you're staying at the hotel and spending money on-site, you should earn points for all purchases. Also, if you forget your rewards card in your room, it would be helpful to show your receipt and still get credit. There was some miscommunication around that and the advertised 5% discount, which made the experience less smooth than expected.

We have so much fun here. The rooms are nice, the food is delicious and we ALWAYS get the best service! We absolutely love the team at Thunder Valley. They have the best Casino Hosts, Rosemary, Gabriel, Linda, and Mary and such welcoming Hotel Desk Staff like Angel. We love grabbing drinks from any of the friendly and talented bartenders like Jennifer at High Steaks, Christine at Thunder Bar, Daven at Red Lantern and Tim and Laurie in High Limit. Thunder Valley is an amazing resort and continues to be our favorite!!

We really enjoyed the band Zepparella at the Venue tonight. They are a Led Zeppelin tribute band. All four members are awesome artists! Best and most authentic rock tribute performance that I have seen. An excellent band in their own right. They need to add a keyboard player to ther band so they can play Stairway to Heaven as their closing song.

The indoor and outdoor setup at Dry Creek is highly recommended for those in the area. Guests can enjoy a beautiful setting with excellent wine selection poured by knowledgeable staff.
First visit to California ever, and I think I did it just right by starting it out at wine country! The grounds are absolutely breathtaking and makes you feel like you are in a secret garden from a storybook. Paige was our hostess, and our group has a great time with her. She was very knowledgeable, personable, and just really gave us the time to relax and enjoy our wine tasting without feeling rushed. I liked that it was a little bit more secluded, had a relaxed vibe and it wasn’t too fussy. A huge perk was that you were also able to bring your own picnic lunch. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat.

I took my boyfriend here for a Californian wine tasting experience and it was so perfect. The vineyards are beautiful and expansive and free to roam through but the service is also just as special. We were hosted by Darren who was extremely knowledgeable about the tasting notes of every wine and the individual process it takes to make each bottle. Darren offered us samples of lots of wines too and we even got a special wine cellar tour that we weren’t expecting. He then introduced us to the family owner of the Dry Creek Vineyard itself (like meeting royalty!). He really made our visit so memorable. If you’re planning a wine tour whilst in the area, this historic site is an essential first stop!

First time visit via scheduled tasting that will be the first of many visits. Josh provided the tasting of many varietals and allowed those in our group to let the wines speak for themselves. In a no-pressure environment, we learned some history about the vineyard and the various factors affecting each the wines they offer. The facility is modern and comfortable and has many gifts for sale. The grounds are perfect for a simple day out (you can bring in your own food, in addition to the standard fare available on site) where you can enjoy a bottle or tastings. If you're looking for a vineyard that's easy to enjoy, with a fine selection of wines, all set in a clean, simple, yet enjoyable environment, Dry Creek should be on the list....

Dry Creek Vineyard is absolutely beautiful. Paige gave an excellent presentation of the founders, history, vineyard, and wines. She is a wonderful asset to the winery as if she was family. Very knowledgeable about all the wines. Impeccable grounds and a lovely day. Couldn't have been better. I am so happy I made the trip. It was beyond expectations. The weather was a 10. No doubts about becoming a member and look forward to enjoying the best wine from my all time favorite winery. Thank you for one of my best memories ever!

The team took really great care of me and my mom. Just pure bliss and a vibe that makes you want to stay forever!!🍷🍷

What a winery! First, we were late to our wine tasting but called in advance to let them know and they were able to accommodate us moving our slot. The wine tasting with the food pairing was amazing. The only complaint was we should have booked an entire day here! Mr. Coppola's vision of a destination for the entire family has been accomplished. We took the tour of the winery and memorabilia from his movies. Beautiful vistas, buildings, and grounds. Interesting facts and pieces of several outstanding movies. We finished with a wine tasting and bocce. Next time we will rent a cabana, which comes with a lockable changing room, with shower, to enjoy the great looking outdoor pool.

Have been here twice now, once for a birthday and today for my anniversary that also turned into my engagement date! We had the same server both times, and he was amazing both times! The views are gorgeous, the service is amazing, and the atmosphere is perfect! Portions are big in my opinion. Payed $100 for both including 3 dishes, 1 special drink, and a soda. I don’t think thats bad at all considering the flavor is consistent each time! The pizza and cesar salads are top tier!

Such a beautiful park with tons of shaded areas and space for the family. During the summer they have lifeguards. Plenty of picnic tables and you have a park next to it plus plenty of hiking and paved trails

Lassen Peak, also known as Mount Lassen, is a 10,460 ft. mountain and active volcano offering a popular hike and climb to the summit. The area features the famous Bumpass Hell trail, showcasing Yellowstone-like volcanic landscapes with boiling mud baths, gas expelling fumaroles, and colorful rock formations.
Lassen Peak is the premier hike and the tallest peak of the park. The hike gains about 2000+ ft in 2.5 miles so that it can be challenging. The view from the top is breathtaking. On a clear day, you can see Mt. Shasta almost 100 miles away. You can walk on the rim of the world's largest plug dome volcano. The trail is very well maintained with markers along the way for information (the pictures are from Sep 2024 for reference)

One of the best hikes I’ve ever done. The elevation was difficult but I had a great time. The skies were clear and the views were surreal. One of the best views of Mr. Shastha can been seen from this peak. The entire park can be observed at this elevation of over 10500ft. We took some amazing pictures in this picturesque spot and had a great time. Must try. The entire hike is 5 miles with 2.5 miles up at 1000ft / mile elevation.

I hiked Lassen Peak in July 2023 as a warm-up for Mt. Shasta. It's a 5-mile round trip with about 2,000 feet of elevation gain. The trail is well-maintained but can be steep in sections. When I hiked, there were still patches of snow. Overall, it was a solid hike with some nice views. Definitely worth checking out if you're around Lassen Volcanic National Park.

8/1/2025 Strenuous hike. Main trail leads to actual peak trail. Very busy. Best to start early sunny morning. Clouds will build in afternoon with possibilities of rain. Trail will get closed if thunderstorm at top.

I really enjoyed hiking to the top of Lassen Peak as it offers a lot of great views along the way and the signage throughout the hike is very informative! Although it was foggy, I really enjoyed it regardless! I recommend coming early as this hike will take up between 3-4 hours to finish!
Daniel D — Google review
Summiting Lassen Peak is exciting. It's a relatively moderate to strenuous hike with a relatively steady initial climb, a couple of switch-backs around 10,000ft and a final scramble to get to the summit! It's about 5 miles in total from the parking lot and back and around 2000ft in elevation gain. The views once you get up to the peak are certainly spectacular since the summit itself is at around 10,500ft, pretty high when compared to other nearby peaks. There are views of the valley and Bumpass hell as you climb. Recommend lots of water and electrolytes for the hike!
Abishek R — Google review
Climbing Lassen Peak is a nice, non-technical hike on a well maintained path. We did this in July and there were only a couple of very short patches of snow on the trail up, and the walkable snowfield at the top. There was no rock hopping until the 100-yd summit scramble up from the large level top area where most hikers stopped. The view from the top is very nice, and Shasta 70 miles away dominates the northern view. Parking was easy at the trailhead at 9am on a Friday, and the trail wasn't too crowded. We spent an hour at the summit and were down by 1pm.

I did this hike on 11/17/2019. Lassen Peak isn’t easy hike because a lot of elevation changes, Only a little over 5 miles RT. But it starts from 8,363 to 10,321 feet, each of the mile is almost 1,000 feet. Good workout.... trail is so nice, well maker, very detail,(thank to Lassen park). Spectacular ,panoramic, uninterrupted view....... Up only haft mile, I’m able to see 3 lakes,(Helen lake, Jupiter lake, and one more but I don’t know the name of this lake). Up one mile,I’m able to see Cinder Cone. Mile and a half up, I’m able to see Lava bed, And up to the top, I’m able to see Mount Shasta. On the way down,I’m able to see sunset in Lassen National Park. Love this trip a lot. I will come back to Lassen Volcanic for different hike.

From the moment you step through the entrance, you're transported into a dreamlike world filled with giant illuminated sculptures. Towering tigers, graceful dolphins, luminous butterflies, and glowing floral arches line the walking paths, each more breathtaking than the last. The colors are vivid, the craftsmanship is exquisite, and the atmosphere is pure magic. What makes Glowing Wild truly special is how it transforms the familiar landscape of Turtle Bay and the McConnell Botanical Gardens into something otherworldly. The lanterns are perfectly placed to complement the natural surroundings, and as the sun sets, the entire area begins to glow with warmth and wonder. The iconic Sundial Bridge lit up in the background only adds to the surreal beauty.

Everybody had an amazing time, my daughter is 12 and my son is 5 and both of them said that it was the best day. Beautiful well maintained landscaping and animal enclosures, extremely friendly staff. Tons of free giveaway stuff, perfect entertainment for the little ones! You can feed parrots - so fun! And during season you can go inside the butterfly house. It was extremely hot and humid when we went, it would have been nice if they had misters along the walkway/benches but other than that, such a fun memorable experience and we will definitely be back!!! Highly recommend

The park is 5 stars easy, very beautiful area, the museum I would give 3.5. It's interesting, not too big but I liked the birds and was there was a Steam Punk exhibit which was nice. The remaining areas were nice but somewhat limited. Some of the animals are in rather small enclosures. It's a bit expensive for a family visiting and maybe getting a souvenir or two. Older kids may get bored after an hour and for $22 each it would not be worth it. I recommend going to the park, hiking, enjoying the bridge, nature, and the many wild animals you can find in the park. I saw deer and a skunk among other things.

This experience was amazing. There are so many things to do included in the admission fee. Our favorites were the dinosaur exhibit, butterfly house, and the bird house. Aside from the favorites everything else was great also. Something fun is that most of the exhibits have things for kids to touch. Hands on learning is when my daughter has the most fun so I appreciated this experience.

This place was amazing! Outdoor play areas and shows teaching kids about the wildlife in the park and within the area. The highlight for my kids were the butterfly conservatory and the parrot house - the kids got to look at both close up and really enjoyed identifying the different types. The train was also fun, and takes you over the Sundial bridge, which is beautiful! There's plenty of parking and the staff were really friendly and helpful. All in all, a good full day of fun with the kids :)

Lake Shasta Caverns National Natural Landmark

Scenic spot
Nature & Parks
Stalactite- & stalagmite-filled caves accessed by tours that include a boat ride on a scenic lake.
Great place to go if you're on an adventure. It's roughly two hours including the boat ride for the tour. I arrived just in time before the boat departure on a weekday. So luckily I didn't have to wait long. I would purchase tickets ahead of time if you've scheduled out plans. It's open all year long.
Quy L — Google review
It was 96 degrees Fahrenheit outside today, and the caverns were like a nice 70 degree room with AC. No jackets needed. On the bus ride up, sit on the right side to see the lake view. The ferry rides and the tour were enjoyable. There are many slopes and stairs, and the staff are friendly and assistive. Highly recommended!

One of our quest to visit all beauties of California is exploring Lake Shasta Caverns. We went to see the McCloud 3 Falls then stopped by here to see the cave. The lake is beautiful, the boat ride is refreshing. Walking to the bus ride is tiring due to up hill climb from the dock, but the ride is scary and exciting looking down the steep slope to the lake. All the buses trying to go up and down the one way road quite amazing. The bus driver is extremely humorous and pleasant. Inside the cave, we had a narrator to explain the history of the cave and how they're forming which is quite informative and eye opening. More stairs to climb, tiring but there are so much to see. Each floor and sections have different scenery. The lighting makes each cave look lively and exotic. Although there are quite a lot of climbing and walking but we had enjoyed it tremendously. On the way out, we could see the views of the lake so beautiful. It's quite a feast for the eyes. We loved it. It's time for another one.

Well planned tour. Morning rides are less crowded. Nice gift shop at the beginning. Friendly folks. Rich history. Buy the tickets in advance.

Such a great tour! All of the people were friendly and knowledgeable, from the welcome center to the boat, bus and cave tour guide. The cave is amazing and the history that comes with it is very interesting. There are a lot of stairs, but they do give an early exit option for those who need it.
Sherri M — Google review
A fun tour at a very reasonable price. The caverns are impressive and the whole crew from the gift shop, boat operators shuttle drivers and tour guides did a great job.
Tod W — Google review
The light show inside the caverns was spectacular. The staff were excellent and very helpful. Parking was easy, and the experience included a scenic boat ride across the lake followed by a bus ride to the caverns. Plan to spend around 2 to 3 hours for the entire activity.

McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
Park
Forest landscape, marked by a 129-ft. waterfall, for camping, picnicking & hiking.
Beautiful park. It is paved all the way to the bottom of the falls, but if you do the loop it is dirt, and a little rocky. It is a steep incline coming back up, make sure you take a bottled water with you. There are bathrooms and drinking fountains at the beginning of the trail. There is also a general store where the serve sandwiches, snakes drinks and souvenirs. You can rent cabins and camp in the park as well at designated areas. Lake Britton is at the very end of the park, and has day use areas bathrooms and a boat launch. There is a $10 fee for parking. It gets extremely busy so go early or later in the afternoon around 2-3. If they say there is no parking except by the lake go through and circle the closer parking lots there is always people leaving so you don’t have to walk the 1.5 from the lake to the trail head. Wear good shoes, I did wear flip flops and did the whole loop okay but I would recommend tennis shoes. There are plenty of benches alone the loop to rest. Also there are no dogs allowed on the trail, but they are welcome at the lake.

What a beautiful walk to see an amazing waterfall, all downhill and up around. Unfortunately as you walk closer to the ice cold water at the bottom you are greeted by the trail of trash, debris, brown foam (build up from people just being gross) clothing that has been left behind on and inbetween the rocks. It's sad to see such a beautiful piece of nature being treated so poorly - don't complain and stomp your feet when it gets shut down.

Burney Falls is absolutely breathtaking — truly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. The waterfall is stunning, with water cascading down into a crystal-clear pool surrounded by lush greenery. The sound of the falls creates such a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere, and the cool mist makes it an amazing spot to relax on a warm day. The trails are well-kept, offering gorgeous views from different angles, and the whole park is very clean and inviting. Whether you’re hiking, taking photos, or just enjoying nature, Burney Falls is a must-see destination in California. I can’t wait to come back! The only thing is the facilities could use some upkeeps no soap no hand dryer or a way to dry your hands and most of the bathrooms were closed
Nick S — Google review
Definitely one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I look forward to camping here. The hike down the trail to the water fall is not that bad and coming up was either. I definitely recommend this to everyone. Everyone should visit this place atleast once in life. It is truly a beautiful place.

If you live in California or anywhere near, you must see Burney Falls. I meditate, and usually port myself to a cove near Santa Cruz, but I think I found my go to serenity place to calm my mind. The multi sensory experience at Burney Falls is amazing. Take the 1.2 mile loop trail to get a full view of the falls from so many perspectives. When you are at the pool you can not only see the beauty, but feel the cool mist and feel the power of the water. Take the time to really take in the beauty....life is a true gift! Places like this, can save your life!!
Jeff ( — Google review
Gorgeous.... I've lived here (Sonoma, CA) my entire life, all 45 years so far and I only just found out about Burney Falls like 1-2 years ago. I really wanted to go, having seen so many beautiful waterfalls in New Zealand, And when I went to make reservations at the time they told me that it was closing. I forget why due to traffic or something too many people and being a hazard parked on the road. I thought it was closing indefinitely only to find out about 6 months ago that it reopened and I snagged a spot for my family for my son's 8th grade graduation celebration and all three of us absolutely were in awe. My son especially liked going down and feeling when the air drops in temperature all of a sudden. I wish their cabins had electricity or at least water or a bathroom of their own like they do at say La pine State Park in Oregon, where we go often (and those are actually cheaper there). But other than that small thing, we did just absolutely have a great time. I see why people come from all over the world to see it. Just to give some notes to disabled people, older generations, exercise-handicapped, I have heart failure which makes it hard for me to walk even on flat ground too far. And the trek to the bottom....even though it is only I think like half a mile, it is down stairs and inclines and then of course you have to go back up afterwards, and it was in the high 80s while we were there, so I did not go all the way down to the bottom but I still was able to see it and experience it and take some hopefully good pictures. That's why there's trees in front of some of my pictures.

Today I flew over Mt Shasta while travelling from Sacramento to Portland by Alaska Airline. Mt Shasta is one of the 7 holy mountains of the world. 26000 came to visit it last year. It has a power CC and presence that is exceptional and palpable. Indigenous peoples have called it the center of our universe.

The views are amazing! We weren’t even planning to climb that high, but it was so much fun and our dog loved it, and the climb wasn’t even that hard, but it was definitely worth it! Unfortunately we couldn’t hike higher because of our doggy :( so be aware of it. The weather was perfect, it was sunny but not hot because the snow was keeping us cool. But we didn’t expect that much snow in May. Still was a lot of fun!

Mt. Shasta Summit: A Challenging but Rewarding Adventure On July 4th, 2023 my friends and I had the incredible opportunity to climb Mt. Shasta via the Avalanche Gulch Route. We stayed at an Airbnb in Redding, CA, about 1.5 hours from the trail. We left the Airbnb at 12:30 AM and arrived at the trail at 2 AM. We took the Avalanche Gulch Route, which is a 17.5-mile round trip with an elevation gain of 7,200 feet. It took us approximately 13.5 hours to complete the climb. We began the climb at 2AM and stopped around 6AM to view the morning alpenglow at Helen Lake (10,550ft). During this time, the trail was almost entirely snow covered, except for the scree field we encountered on Misery Hill (13,800ft). We used a combination of trekking poles and spikes on the ascent. Due to the steep conditions at that time, an ice axe was needed for the last 300+ feet to the summit. The hike was challenging, but the panoramic view from the summit was absolutely breathtaking. Given the snow conditions in July 2023, we were able to glissade for several thousand feet down the mountain, significantly easing the descent. If you're looking for a challenging but rewarding adventure, I highly recommend climbing Mt. Shasta. Just be prepared for the physical demands and plan accordingly. Key details: Route: Avalanche Gulch Total trip distance: 17.5 miles Start time: 2 AM Summit time: 11:30 AM Finish time: 3:30 PM Total trip time: 13.5 hours

Lava Beds National Monument

National Parks
Desert wilderness park with volcanic features, 700+ caves, Native American rock art & campsites.
Off the beaten path but pairs nicely with a visit to Shasta, Lassen or Crater Lake. 100% worth the drive through the lava fields and grassland to the visitor center and biggest concentration of lava tubs / caves. Get the background, maps, tips and any equipment from the visitors center. Start with the only lit Cave to understand what you’re seeing then head out and explore the other caves on your own — options range from easily walkable to needing to crawl and working around dead ends and 40 degree temps. Don’t be intimidated, there is something for every ability level here and it’s probably not like anything else you’ve done before!

Absolutely incredible place! We were driving from Lassen up to Crater Lake, so took the chance on this park. We planned ahead and brought our own headlamp style flashlights for the caves, which worked perfectly and are necessary as only one of them has lighting. We got our permit and then walked to Mushpot Cave which is accessible by a sidewalk from the visitor center. This was a fun cave to go into but it is developed with stairs, paved walkway, and lighting- perfect for my parents who are pushing 80. We drove our car around the loop stopping at a viewpoint or two and then hiked down into Sentinal Cave, out and back to the same parking area. Excellent cave for a family. We stopped at Skull Cave on our way north which was neat and had an ice floor with icicles, even in August. There is no food available in the park, other than some snacks, so be sure to pack your own lunch.
Michael Y — Google review
The information centers main office was closed, but the bathrooms at the main parking lot were open. Mid October some cave access begins to close till April. We were able to enter mushpot cave which is lit up and easy walking. Skull cave and the ice cave were probably my favorite. We visited the caves with easy access and not too far off the main road. Plenty of parking at most trail heads.

We spent two days exploring a trail, and we got a wilderness permit so we were able to camp off trail. The fire was pretty devastating and we spent around 4 hours going through dead woods which was very spooky. We started at kings falls and the decline was manageable down to devils kitchen, but the climb back up was pretty challenging with a large pack. We will definitely drop weight next time. Water was available at the camp site, which was enough. We brought 3 liters each. Be cautious of dead standers.
Isaac R — Google review
Very interesting place to explore with family! Don’t forget to visit the center for map and valuable information or guidance. $25 for a vehicle for 7 days’ free admission. Don’t forget to clean your shoes through the machine in front of the center entrance to avoid any bacteria from the caves. Highly recommended for flashlight and helmet if you are planning to explore more caves with different difficulties. We are the beginners for such experiences, so the Mushpot cave and Sentimel cave (lower & upper sentinel cave) are recommended for those who are the first time to visit here, and family with kids or seniors. Bring your water and watch out the ceiling above your head. Highly recommended here!

I love that you can explore so many caves especially in one area and they don't close them which allowed me to get down there and go through 15 in one day. Pretty cool place and will return someday. I'd like to bring my son and my knee pads. Gift shop closed at 4 not 430 as I was told. Couldn't get any gifts as I got there at 401.

We have been here twice. Once as a couple and once with our grandson. We absolutely love it! We are planning another trip to take both grandsons. Nice paved, lighted cave for an easier trek. Many other caves left natural to explore as much or as little as you desire. All within a reasonable walking distance.

Rim Village Visitor Center is a must-visit stop at Crater Lake, offering nature exhibits, a bookstore, and stunning views of the lake. In summer, it's the perfect place to gather park information and explore the neighboring Sinnott Memorial Overlook with its geology museum and observation terrace. Ranger talks are also available several times a day. While closed in winter, weekend snowshoe walks depart from outside the center.
Clearly marked route and even with the snow six feet above the roof of my 4 runner the road was free.of snow and Ice. Negotiating the walk up the snow bank to stand ten.or more feet above the normal viewing areas was surreal. Highly recommend going up in the snow. Take an extra 30 bucks for the pass tho...

Crater Lake National Park is beautiful. The day I went to there with my family was a little crowded, but I suspect it probably gets worse on the weekend and around holidays. It is unfortunate that the Park Service has had to reduce staff at National Parks. I feel for the struggles this causes in maintaining, securing, and supporting the parks. There is a lot of parking, but it was almost all full when we were there. This particular park will be having a lot of renovation over the next few years until 2029 so we wanted to go before it got even more complicated.

Beautiful and unique place. When we arrived the foggy weather blocked our view of the lake. Important to note that even if the clouds are low it doesn't mean the whole lake is covered. We continued to drive and eventually found a great spot with perfect view.

Not easy to find. It has a sign of park store but I didn’t see any sign of visitor center. It feels like the parking is competitive at the beginning when you enter rim village but it has more parking space inside. It has shades and rest area beside the visitor center and water fountains at the other side. Overall, I would give 5 stars.

Crater Lake is a beautiful place to visit in Summer. But with a pet dog, it’s not a good choice to arrange the visit. We could only visit the paved area around Rim Village visitor center. Next time, hope we could return here in Winter to explore a different sightseeing of snow covered Crater Lake.

A couple of helpful staff members inside answered questions about trails and whether we could get an official Crater Lake brochure. If you are curious, the funding to print those no longer exists. The other bummer about this visitor center is they were out of the artistic postcard featuring Crater Lake and only had ones with a guy on a bicycle. Annie's Creek gift shop had the good one.

Silver Falls State Park is Oregon's largest state park and offers a variety of outdoor activities including camping, swimming, picnicking, cycling, and horseback riding. The main attraction is the Trail of Ten Falls Loop which is an easy 8-mile loop that leads visitors through a basalt canyon filled with thick forests teeming with ferns, mosses and wildflowers. This serene park features ten waterfalls along the dog-friendly trail, as well as campsites and cabins for overnight stays.
Silver Falls is a delightful day trip from Salem, Lebanon, and Portland. There are multiple falls to see. There are hiking trails around the canyon and more to the east allowing access to horses and mountain bikes. The park is large enough that is does not seem crowded. The park is gorgeous and being able to walk behind falls is magnificent. We saw dozens of crawdads in the stream by the Upper North Falls. Several areas are steep, but the experience is worth it.

Silver Falls State Park is an absolute treasure for anyone who loves the outdoors. 🌲✨ The hiking trails are beautifully maintained and filled with jaw-dropping scenery at every turn. The famous Trail of Ten Falls lives up to its name — each waterfall is uniquely stunning, from the thundering South Falls to the peaceful smaller cascades tucked deep in the forest. What makes it extra special is that you can actually walk behind several of the waterfalls, which gives the whole hike a magical, immersive feel. The mist, the lush green moss, and the sound of rushing water make it feel like you’ve stepped into another world. Whether you’re an avid hiker or just looking for a peaceful nature escape, Silver Falls is unforgettable. Bring a camera, good shoes, bear spray and plenty of time — you’ll want to soak in every moment.

An absolute gem that needs to be reserved until the end of time. We went in late October to see the colors and it was amazing. Wind storm was coming in and they were promptly working to clear the roads. The rain and wind gave us the chance to have south falls to ourselves and we captured some amazing images. Truly breathtaking scenery. Only my second visit and there is never enough time. South falls is definitely the prime waterfall experience any traveler could be seeking.

Beautiful, well maintained trails. Too many people with dogs where they shouldn't be but saw no animal waste anywhere, it was grand. We did the full 9 mile loop today and absolutely loved it. Will probably do it again on a weekday so it's not so busy next time, but absolutely worth the visit!

The Trail of Ten Falls is without a doubt one of the highlights of Silver Falls State Park and a must-do hike for anyone visiting. The trail offers a series of stunning waterfalls, each with its own charm, and provides an immersive experience of Oregon’s natural beauty. Trail Options: • Starting from the South Falls Day Use area, you can do a shorter loop beginning at Upper South Falls and finishing via the Rim Trail. This route takes around 2 hours 15 minutes and is a very enjoyable hike with plenty to see. • If you’d like to experience all 10 waterfalls, including the North Falls, plan for at least 3.5 hours or more depending on your pace and time spent at each viewpoint. Alternatively, if you’re short on time, you can also drive closer to North Falls for a shorter walk to enjoy it. Highlights: The most spectacular sections are definitely Upper South Falls and Lower South Falls. These waterfalls are both incredibly picturesque, with trails that even allow you to walk behind them — a unique and memorable experience. If your schedule is tight, I’d recommend prioritizing Upper South Falls, as it’s the most impressive of them all. Trail Experience: The hike itself is easy to moderate and very well maintained. It’s suitable for families and even young children, with plenty of resting spots along the way. The scenery is lush, green, and peaceful, making it just as enjoyable as the waterfalls themselves. Overall: This trail combines accessibility with breathtaking views, making it one of the best hikes in the state. Whether you do the shorter loop or the full 10 falls, you won’t be disappointed. A highly recommended outdoor experience for all ages!

Willamette Valley, a picturesque region known for its farm-to-fork ethos and over 500 wineries, is a prime wine-growing area famous for its Pinot Noir. The valley hosts abundant farmers markets from June through October, attracting purveyors from across central and eastern Oregon. Visitors can enjoy private vineyard tours and tastings while taking in the beautiful scenery and trails.
Went to visit this beautiful vineyard while staying in Portland for a long weekend. It was an hour drive away and we had a great time. Our private tour with Allison was awesome - she was very knowledgeable about the vineyard practices and the wines even though she had only been on week 6 or so of working there! They had some wines we really loved - the Tualatin Estate Pinot noir was delightful - and others that were just okay (we were not huge fans of the whole cluster Pinot noir). They include a cheese plate with the tour which my husband enjoyed and they put together a vegan plate for me. Overall we had a wonderful time and we really enjoyed Allison’s energy as well as the history she taught us about and the pours that kept flowing 😊

Nestled in the stunning Columbia River Gorge, Multnomah Falls is a breathtaking sight that captivates visitors with its impressive 600-foot cascade. The area offers scenic hiking trails, making it an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike. A popular route is the two-mile round trip hike that typically takes about an hour and a half to complete. While the trek can be steep, it's manageable for kids and rewards hikers with spectacular views of the falls from various vantage points.
Love this beautiful place. Choose your visiting time with care. Crowded late morning to end of day. Parking permits required in summer season. Good restrooms. Places to rest along the walk. Sit and look at lower falls. Or climb a bit to the bridge. Or (if you have the stamina!) head up to the top of the falls (11 switchbacks to get there!). Snacks, souvenirs. Was a joy to visit again.

Amazing hike with beautiful views! This was a steep hike with sort of a paved walk way. There were 2 routes we saw up top, but considering this was an unplanned hike we stayed on the paved side and made it to the top of the waterfall! It rained a bit and that made the ground bit slippery if you aren't wearing the right shoes. P.S. don't forget to bring your water!!

It's one of the most filmographic and mystical places I've ever seen. You absolutely must see it. There are many waterfalls in this area, but the weather here is incredible. Inside, there's a lovely gift shop and a small area for coffee and other things. There's a 0.2-mile path leading to the bridge. But there are also routes for longer walks. But I want to warn you about parking. Finding a parking spot in the parking area right in front of the waterfall is very, very difficult. I thought I wouldn't be able to stop, but on the map, I saw a parking lot across the road, so I went there. But you have to drive 5 miles :)) This park is large and free. After parking, you can access it immediately by crossing an underpass.

What a beautiful place. The hike up to the top was great. *Be aware of the possibility of slipping on the trail. You should wear good outdoor shoes. Other people made it up with regular shoes. *Dogs are allowed on the trail🙌🏽 To end the hike, you will have coffee and or food available. Or before you start. Overall we had a great time. Side note: For those who visit, you should be cognizant of others trying to get through the bridge. It is a beautiful site for photos, but you shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes due to the cluster of people. Maybe take a few and come back. Ok enjoy.

Seeing the falls in all their might after two days of rain was an awe-inspiring experience. I would recommend doing the 5.5 mile loop that invludes several smaller falls up the mountain.

Great place to stop for a break or to enjoy a nature walk. There is a restaurant, a coffee shop before or after your walk and a gift shop. Walk is no more than a mile to enjoy the water fall. There is a longer hike if you want more adventure.
MrCopper K — Google review
Beautiful spot with an amazing view — definitely worth the visit! Highly recommend taking the hike to the top of the falls for an even better perspective. Parking can be tricky, and it gets pretty crowded on weekends, so try to go early. Totally worth it for the scenery though!

Beautiful drive along the historic highway. Skip the freeway and take the scenic route. Stop at the Vista House in the way too. The waterfall is stunning

Environmental organization
The Oregon Zoo, located in the lush Washington Park, spans 64 acres and is home to nearly 3,000 animals from 90 different species, including 19 endangered ones. The zoo's exhibits are divided into five themed areas: the Great Northwest, Pacific Shores, Discovery Zone, Africa, and Elephant Lands. Visitors can observe a variety of wildlife such as elephants, polar bears, river otters, penguins and lions.
We have been to a lot of zoos and this one felt like you could get super close to all the animals. The walk was very well laid out and easy to follow even without carrying a map. The animals were well cared for, and the terrain was just beautiful. If I had an negative about the park, it might be that at times it was hard to find the trashcan, but what I really really liked was you could always find a bench and somewhere to sit to enjoy the wildlife and to rest. I do think this zoo is very well worth a trip. In about 2 1/2 hours, you can see everything and experience just some wonderful terrain to walk-through. It wasn’t too difficult or hard to climb and I always felt like I could do it in a wheelchair if I had to. One of the most interesting things I saw in this zoo was a children’s sandbox play area that looked like just the kind of things. My children would have loved when they were 2-6 years old. Parking was very interesting and you had to download a specific app, but there were kiosk where you could get a parking place without having to use the app so I was very thankful for that.

I've been here twice now as a guest of a annual pass holding zoo member. Delightful each time. Animals appear to be in great shape and have gorgeous habitats. They even accommodated for my service animal with no issues providing a special map to help guide through the zoo. I really enjoy coming here. And with the Rose garden and many other things connected around the zoo it's a lovely place to hang out for the day.

The Portland Zoo is a great place to visit, and we had a delightful time. The layout makes it easy to walk, but since most of it is concrete, definitely bring good walking shoes. The exhibits are well-designed, the animals look well-cared-for, and there’s a nice variety to see without feeling overwhelming. The grounds are clean, the signage is clear, and the paths are stroller- and kid-friendly. There are plenty of spots to stop, rest, or grab a snack, and the whole place feels well-maintained and thoughtfully organized—a great family outing and absolutely worth the visit.
Savanah E — Google review
The zoo itself was amazing. The structural aspect of the zoo is great, easy paths to follow that allows you to see all of the animals very easily without confusing path directions and such. The variety of animals is also very good. The Zoo itself has 3 restaurants/cafes all together, so if you do not want to bring food there is plenty to choose from. The grass are by the food options is also great for kids to let go of steam, have a great picnic or just to enjoy a nice break. The only thing I wish the zoo would advertise on their website is which animals are currently not available, as there were many such as the lions, spotted dogs, cheetahs etc that were not available to see due to different reasons. However, all in all is it a great zoo!
R R — Google review
Absolutely love this zoo! You’ll find a fantastic range of animals, including adorable new babies like an elephant, turtle, and ape, all thriving in spacious habitats. Visit now for minimal weekend crowds and affordable admission—perfect for a day of exploration! Bring your own snacks to save on food and skip the lines. On the downside, there’s a parking fee, and it can get super crowded in late spring and summer, making it tricky to see the animals, especially with kids. Plus, tickets are only available online now—no more at the gate! Pro tip: If you’re military, part of a group, a nonprofit, or an eligible family, you could snag discounted tickets up to 50%, so check eligibility before buying tickets!

Its a great place. Love this zoo. I get a membership so I can go often. I do like to bring in my own lunch and drinks. But they have food and drink available.

Amazing zoo. Came here on a whim and we were blown away. I have never seen animals at a zoo so healthy looking, active and playful. The design was also great that it took you on a loop, and we loved that it was incorporated into the nature around us.

Absolutely beautiful park! Loved the mist stations all around to help keep cool on hot days. Only surprise was that the entire park is cashless but you can get a loadable MasterCard for use around the park at a kiosk that takes cash. Animals are VERY well cared for and have nice sized habitats, customized for their species. 10/10 would absolutely love to go again.

Park
The International Rose Test Garden, located in Washington Park between the historic Portland neighborhoods of Arlington Heights and Goose Hollow, is a city-maintained garden that was established in 1917. It boasts over 10,000 rose plants displayed in meticulously manicured gardens. The garden offers stunning views of Downtown Portland and Mt. Hood and is a popular destination for both locals and tourists.
I read somewhere that this rose garden is Portland's most popular attraction. It's massive it is also part of the larger forest park region that houses many more cool parks. Summer is when the roses bloom and they look and smell amazing. Flower lovers can spend hours here walking through each row of roses. And astonishing how many species of roses live here. The other day I saw a ketchup and mustard rose. When you're tired of roses, you can then walk to the nearby ampitheater to chill and watch one of their many summer shows for free. Parking here can be tough it's coming here during the day. If you don't want to fight for spots, considered coming early morning or after hours.
Deedee C — Google review
It is peaceful and beautiful to walk in nature. I learned there is a 9-11 tribute rose. The variety is amazing. I came in late October when the smell wasn't so strong. Many flowers were hanging on their last breath. But it was a nice cloudy day and I enjoyed walked the park alone. They have a few trails you can walk but I wasn't properly dressed. Had I known I would have brought running shoes.
Julio P — Google review
We had such an amazing time walking around and seeing/smelling the Rose Test Garden! I highly recommend timing your visit so you can join the free tour that begins at the gift shop. It is really lovely and points out historical facts about the garden and the different roses there. The gift shop is small, but has some great things in there. You'll do quite a bit of walking in the Rose Test Garden, so make sure you're wearing comfortable shoes! Parking can be tricky, but be patient and a spot will open up.

first time visit with my friends and we really enjoyed our time- i think we just walked around smelling and admiring the roses for at least an hour and a half. i had no idea there were so many kinds of roses. it is so well maintained and beautiful with a rich history and a staple of portland. please visit! be sure to check if you will be there when the roses are blooming. we were there in early october and there were still plenty of beautiful roses to see
Allison — Google review
What an incredible garden to stroll around and be amazed at the variety of roses with every turn. I went 10/28/25, so it was fall season and the leaves on the trees brought magic to this oasis on top of the hill. I spent more time venturing over to the Sacajawea Statue, Lewis & Clark column, then over to Coming of the White Man Statue and through the Holocaust area. If you are looking for a place of solitude and serene views, then check this park out.

Went exploring and car across this place. It was amazing. The flowers were still in bloom even though we went pretty late in the season. Very clean and it smelled so wonderful. Will definitely be making this one of my regular walks
Sabrina G — Google review
Wow. I’ve been to quite a few rose gardens and none are this large. Even in late Oct there were still lots of blooms. I can’t imagine the smell in summer. Plan for at least an hour if you want to see the whole thing. We loved stopping and smelling the roses 🥰
Ninette — Google review
This place was great and so pretty. Out of the hundreds, I mean hundreds of roses I saw there wasn't one blue one....a bit disappointed. Lol Steady amount of people enjoying the day. Parking I'd say wasn't hard to find but it wasn't easy either. Nice day people can be the all day. The parking price wasn't bad in my opinion, considering where I come from and pay to park. Well kept up and beautiful.

Nestled in a serene 5.5-acre space, the Portland Japanese Garden offers a stunning contrast to its surroundings. The garden showcases various styles and features a waterfall, teahouse, and mountain views. Unlike the nearby rose gardens, this AAA GEM attraction is a study in shades of green with delicate Japanese irises and water lilies adorning koi ponds.
I absolutely love this garden. I recommend more for couples and families with teenagers instead of young kids. There is no play ground. I also recommend coming in the fall ( late October) for cooler weather and beautiful leaf color changes. If you bring in a tripod, you are charged extra at the ticket booth. There is a shuttle available to get up to the garden and pack to the parking lot. The small gift shop and cafe are definitely worth checking out in the gardens too
Christina D — Google review
The gardens are absolutely beautiful. Very well maintained and clean, including the restrooms. There are many photo ops all around the grounds with a fantastic view of Portland with Mt. Hood in the background. There are memberships available for single and multiple on line and at the window and gift shop. If you purchase from the gift shop your entry fee is refunded and it affords you entry for a year and a 20% discount in the gift shop. It's definitely worth the trip. My only issue was with the parking. Not great but there is a free shuttle that goes around.

Fantastic visit to this Japanese garden. Our first time visiting Oregon from the UK and thiz was high one our list of things to see - and it didnt disappoint. The planting, pathways and structures looked fantastic. It was busy but not overly so and everything was well maintained. Food in the cafe was great as well. Plenty of nearby car parking and short queues to enter.
GraduatedWithoutHonor — Google review
This is such an amazing and magical place. We visited during the fall and were blessed with beautiful fall foliage. Be sure to get the earliest timed entry tickets and arrive 30 minutes before opening to ensure you get parking. The first 5 minutes is a slight incline, but the rest of the gardens are relatively flat. Go, you won’t be disappointed. Are,sure you get timed entry
Herb S — Google review
Breathtaking Gardens, But Be Prepared for the Wait We visited the Portland Japanese Garden about a week ago—absolutely stunning this time of year. The colors were unreal, and we couldn’t have timed our visit better. Every turn of the path was like stepping into a painting: moss-covered stones, fiery red maples, and soft autumn light filtering through the trees. Unfortunately, our experience started off on the wrong foot. We had an 11:15 a.m. tour booked and arrived an hour early, paid for parking, and went to get our tickets—only to be told there was a two-hour wait to enter. The website hadn’t mentioned this possibility, so our only choices were to wait around for two hours or leave, come back later, and pay for parking again. The staff seemed well-prepared for this kind of situation, which tells me it’s a common issue, but it would make a huge difference if visitors were better informed ahead of time. Thankfully, our visit happened on a Bank of America “Museums on Us” day, so admission was free, which softened the blow. Once inside, the frustration faded away—these gardens truly deserve five stars. But the lack of clear communication at the start left a disappointing first impression. Go for the beauty, but plan ahead for crowds and wait times.
R. W — Google review
We came at the perfect time for the leaves. The garden was aesthetically beautiful and vibrant. Gardens are well-maintained and in traditional Japanese fashion. It certainly had the feeling of being authentically curated. Pro tip: you have to buy tickets for a specific time so plan accordingly.

This amazing Landscaping achievement recreates the classical, contemplative nature experience of the historic Japanese gardens. It is a wonderful place to visit anytime of the year. Even when it is raining, the middle of winter, and the leaves have fallen from the deciduous trees, the Landscaping still invite you to pause in contemplation. In fact, in winter, and inclement weather, you may have this place mostly to yourself without the crowds of people to distract you. Even in the peak summer season, however, admissions, our time restricted, so it’s never overcrowded. Parking can be an issue at the popular times, and you should count for that.
PappaJohn F — Google review
Beautiful, well maintained garden. But it is popular. Parking can be scarce and you can expect crowds. People may walk through your pictures, just be patient and try and be respectful to others... and more importantly, the plants.

We had a blast on the Zipline Adventure today! The guides were fun, experienced and very focused on keeping us safe while having an excellent time. I highly recommend this as a birthday gift or just a fun way to spend time together. We tried having a meal on the bar deck but were unable to get service. Surprising for such a beautiful and expensive venue. No worries...we drove to Vancouver and had a delicious meal at the Cove. Highly recommended! 😎

My partner and I ziplined for the first time and it was a blast! We arrived early (recommend) and were warmly greeted by Shane upon checking in. From there on out, Stan and Jack guided us through this amazing experience with safety talks, proper zip lining techniques, combined with their easy going fun personality and infectious humor. We drove in from Portland, stayed the night at Skamania Lodge. I would highly recommend this adventure and any others they offer, due to the incredible staff! Thank you for making my birthday special 🎉❤️❗

My husband and I were looking for a weekend to get away and happened to run across Skamania Lodge in our Google search. besides the fact it was a beautiful drive to the lodge, the lodge itself was more than what we could have hoped for. we were amazed at how many activities were available and decided to try zip lining for the first time. We had an absolutely awesome time! We love the restaurants at the lodge and the staff was friendly and helpful. We plan on coming back and trying out the glamping tents next time. My husband and I were in the gorge for the week and wanted to do something a little adventurous. The zip line tour was fantastic. Our trip guides were funny, kind, supportive and made the whole experience a blast. I’m very grateful we chose an off hours time to visit because having a group of 5 and not 10 made a big difference. All of the zips were a blast and made you feel like you were flying. We felt safe and well cared for. Having the extra pictures (despite the high price) was a great bonus. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

My wife and I had an amazing adventure with the E-Bikes for our first anniversary. The bikes were fairly priced for what you get and provided a lot of fun. Yesterday, we did a private hike with guide Eileen Kiely up to the Crater Glacier Overlook. What an awesome day we had! Not only were we fortunate enough to have the perfect weather, but the wildflowers were in full bloom; the views of Mount St. Helens National Monument (including the crater, Spirit Lake and the expansive pumice plain), Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams were absolutely stellar; and the overall experience to be in the crater itself was one I will never forget. I highly recommend this hike!
Steve C — Google review
Recently participated in a hike into the crater with MSHI, and the entire experience was fantastic. The guide staff was very passionate, knowledgeable, and attendant to our safety while climbing. Outside of actually climbing into the crater, the staff provided a very comfortable camping experience, with just the right mix of 'roughing it' and creature comforts. I felt the whole experience was a great value especially given the campfire songs led by guided, Sarah and Sierra! Thanks, HSMI. Oh yeah, they fed us REALLY well, too.

A Washington Icon! Everyone knows the story, but to really understand the damage, even 40 years later, you have to visit for yourself. I highly recommend the Ape Canyon Trail, it snakes along the mudflow from the eruption along the SE side of the mountain.

Setting aside land for a National Monument is a big deal. It means that future generations can see the setting in a mostly untouched state of being. There's much to see and experience in this area where mountain meets mankind.

I recently did the Awesome Hike and it's very appropriately named… it was AWESOME! It was a great hike and I learned so much more about the history of the mountain and the eruption. This was my second time to hike with the MSHI guides (the first being the Summit Climb) and once again, it was a great experience! The guides’ knowledge, their friendliness, the pace, the accommodations made for individual needs.... all of it… they were AMAZING! The guides are there to ensure you have the best experience possible and a successful one too! While you’re enjoying the hike/climb, you’re also getting an education. I can’t say enough positive things about these guided hikes and climbs. I just signed up for another one in September - the Glacier Overlook Hike – and I’ll definitely be looking for more in the future!

Johnston Ridge Observatory

Johnston Ridge Observatory is a visitor center located near the summit of Mount St. Helens, which offers interpretive displays, ranger talks and a gift shop. It is named after scientist David Johnston who was killed by the mountain's lateral blast. The observatory provides stunning vistas of the crater with smoke rising from it, showcasing the unique nature of this mountain.
I was absolutely amazing, it’s a shame that you cannot make it all of the way to the observatory. The photos of Mt Saint Helens are the two parking lots between mile marker 40 and 50.
Todd J — Google review
Hiked up to the observatory from the lower parking lot and Hummocks trail starting point. Only way up to the ridge is via the Boundary Trail. Sandy single track winds it way up the ridge with amazing views of Mt. St Helen’s and the lower river basin. Took 2.5 litres of water each person on a 34c day temp wise. The total trip was just under 4 hrs and 16km. I found poles handy for descending. Bear poop in the area but we did not see any.

Hummocks Trail to Boundary West Trail and you can still access this beautiful place. Feels apocalypic, we were the only ones up there for at leest an hour. Nature is taking over, lots of plants on the parking lot and outdoor theatre. Views of the mountain are amazing. Worth the 10 mile hike!

I recently traveled here and it was amazing. Mt. St. Helen's is in bird's-eye view. There is a gift shop on sight if you wanted to purchase some goodies from your visit here. There is plenty of parking and a coffee stand if you wanted a good cup of coffee and a light refreshment. The walk up is really nice and paved. There are also hiking trails available. I would highly recommend going here.

Beautiful spot to get a good look at Mt Saint Helen's, good for all ages an abilities. Once you park you'll have to walk up a hill to the center, but it's all paved ect an wheelchair accessible. There's a little loop that is paved, but has some rough spots. We hiked up to Coldwater peak, was cloudy so couldn't see a lot but was beautiful. Got to hangout with a couple goats while we had lunch

Got there Sunday, just as they were closing (6pm), but had enough time to get some souvenirs. The prices were fair, and they had a nice selection. The views were spectacular! We got some beautiful photos. The roads are well maintained, with some great pulloffs. Keep in mind that they're dark, steep and windy, so don't stay up there too late. This was a "bucket list" item that SHOULD HAVE BEEN on my list - do yourself a favor and put it on yours!

Amazing views of the crater! On a clear day you can see the smoke rising and the growing nature of this unique mountain. There are many trails and walkways in summer. In winter its a long hard hike and careful planning as its around 14 miles round trip. The road is gated just after the Coldwater lake, hence the walk will be long and will need snowgear in winter. Either way in all seasons its amazing!

Mount Rainier is a majestic 14,411-ft volcano and a popular hiking destination in the Cascade Range. It offers multiple entrances, with different access depending on the time of year. The Paradise entrance is ideal for off-season visits, while the road to Sunrise closes early in Fall due to snowfall. As the highest peak in Washington's Cascade Mountain Range, Mount Rainier dominates much of the state's skyline.
🌞 Visited Mount Rainier on a perfect sunny Sunday! The weather was absolutely clear — ideal for enjoying the breathtaking views of the snow-covered peak and surrounding pine forests. The drive up was scenic, and every stop offered postcard-worthy views. Trails were well-marked, clean, and peaceful. If you’re planning to visit, go on a sunny day — the mountain looks magnificent against the blue sky! Definitely one of the most beautiful places to experience nature at its best. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Highly recommended for anyone visiting Washington!
RLV D — Google review
Stunning stand alone mountain! The height and massiveness is quite something. You can also see other mountain ranges if you choose to hike. We visited in June and the rangers recommended to hike Alta Vista only. The snow was plenty and just started to melt - but nothing dangerous on that trail. The Skyline trail, on the other hand, is not advised. If you are looking for free camping spots take the Skate Creek Road Turnoff to NF-52. Continue that road until you see signs that you are allowed for dispersed camping. There are plenty of spots but our favorite is shared here. Just be prepared for mosquitos. Do not show up Friday evening or late weekend or you'll have to wait in line to enter the national park.

Absolutely stunning, must do activity if you’re visiting Seattle or Washington state in general. There are so many wonderful trails to take throughout the mountain but my recommendation is the sky ridge trail. Breathtaking views that are always treat for your eyes and calms your mind.

Went on an adventure and had to check this place out, it was having earthquake swarms at the time 7/13/25 . Absolutely beautiful mountain and hard to believe it's a sleeping Volcano.. definitely worth checking out for yourself if you're in the area.. Absolutely FANTASTIC directions and a totally AMAZING park!! If you've never been, you should definitely take a road trip.. see America in all of it's beauty.. and take on Mt. Ranier! There are breathtaking views along the route, from the entrance all the way up to the parking area at the base of the volcano. Parking can be a little tedious, but if you're patient (as we were) a space will open up. There's also parking along the road allowed in areas. At the main parking area on the Skyline trail side, there are bathrooms and a gift shop available. If you decide to hike up the trails, be prepared! Some of the inclines are a little steep and the air gets a bit thin. Take your time, enjoy the natural beauty, and sip on some water that you'll have to take along. There are a few benches to rest on along the trail. Mount Ranier offers some truly amazing, beautiful, and breathtaking views that seem to go on for forever.

Highly recommended for casual hikes. Trails were generally accessible in summer, and great for hikes or jogs. Difficult to get parking if you get here by late mornings, but the trails were not too overcrowded. Longest hikes are still manageable for a day hike, just bring enough water to hydrate. Fantastic views with fresh air. Would return if nearby, and worth the drive if you can spend a full day hiking. Food is expensive at the tourist centre and edible if you're starving, so best to pack your own healthy food along.

A beautiful place to enjoy nature. Wonderful Habitats for the animals. The animals seem well cared for and happy. One of the best, if not the best, play areas at a zoo I have ever seen. The new tram ride is great, enjoyable experience. Staff were all friendly and hospitable

What a wonderful experience! I had friends from Australia visiting and wanted to give them the experience of seeing some of the amazing animals here in the PNW. We went on one of the guided tours in the Free Roam area and were able to observe many of the local residents. Our guide was amazing, incredibly knowledgeable and with a great sense of humor. It is obvious that the caretakers take pride in what they do and they do it well. The park itself is clean and well maintained. The enclosures are also clean and well maintained, and measures had been put in place for the animals to cool themselves (we visited on a hot summer day.) The paths around the park are paved and fairly easy to navigate, although there are some inclined areas that individuals with mobility aids may need assistance navigating. Should you visit during the summer, or on a weekend, be prepared for there to be a lot of children. If you'd like a quieter visit, I recommend going during the school year on a weekday. (Bonus picture of frog chilling on the water fountain.)

Northwest Trek is truly a gem in the Pacific Northwest and an experience that feels both adventurous and educational from start to finish. The highlight of our visit was hands down the tram tour. It was not only relaxing and comfortable but also incredibly informative. The guide was knowledgeable and engaging, pointing out different animals along the way while sharing fun facts and deeper insights into their behaviors, habitats, and conservation efforts. Watching bison, moose, elk, and other wildlife roaming freely in such a large natural setting felt like stepping into their world, and it was fascinating to see them so close in a way that felt authentic and respectful. The entire park itself is beautifully maintained—clean, safe, and thoughtfully laid out. Walking through the different areas, it was clear how much care goes into keeping the grounds well-manicured and welcoming. Each habitat was designed with the animals in mind, and the variety is impressive: from native predators like cougars, wolves, and bears to smaller but equally interesting creatures like beavers, otters, and owls. Every corner offered something new to discover. Another pleasant surprise was the pricing. For the quality of the experience—especially considering the tram tour is included—the admission felt very fair. It’s rare to find a park that balances affordability with such a high standard of care, education, and presentation. Northwest Trek is the kind of place you can enjoy whether you’re coming as a family, couple, or even solo. It’s both entertaining and enlightening, and I left with a deeper appreciation for Pacific Northwest wildlife. Absolutely worth the trip and highly recommended.

This is a great place to get out in nature. For kids to see real natural settings, where and how animals live, is wonderful. We have a family pass and plan to go often. For kids, they have a great real natural play area for all they're extras energy. You can spend a few hours with your own lunch or eat from they're Cafe, it's convenient and pretty good. Even hard ice-cream, if the kids eat a good lunch. Good Times

Such a wonderful place to see animals. It was raining so some were not out, which i dont blame them. Rode the tram learned alot about the place and how it started. Such a beautiful place. Very clean and the animals looked healthy. The Eagles were magnificent 👌. The owls, bears, and wolf just amazing.

This is a true Pacific Northwest treasure! It's a great showcase of Northwest and native North American wildlife. The walk-through portion of the park is family friendly and engaging (especially the Bear walk portion). The Wild Drive is a great experience, too! When the free roaming animals are out, it is a great way to see such majestic creatures up close. The park staff is knowledgeable and courteous. Allow a few hours if you are planning to see both the walking path portion of the park and to do the Wild Drive (highly recommended). A fun day for everyone!

Incredible. Beautiful. One of a kind experience. Kid friendly. Great and knowledgeable staff. Family will love this and there are tons of animals to see. I loved the shuttle bus ride which was additional to the entrance fee, but it was well worth it. The reserve is smaller, but very beautiful

Went on a 2-hour Photo Tour and was not disappointed!! Saw Swans; Roosevelt Elk; Black-tail Deer; Mountain Goats; Bison; and MOOSE!! They have caribou as well but we did not see them… There are 4 people max in the Photo Tour and it was fun to stop and take pics of the aforementioned!! Afterwards, you can go through the rest of the park that had a Cougar; a Bobcat; and a Lynx; Eagles; Black and Grizzly Bears; Badgers; Wolverines; Grey Wolves; Otters and Beavers…. A fun place to enjoy wildlife that has been rehabilitated but are not able to return to the forest… The park is really nice and clean; there’s a gift shop with lots of stuff (and t-shirts) for kids and adults alike… Nice place to take the family!! A little limited in the cafe, this November, but offer more during the Summer.
