The OZ Museum in Wamego, Kansas is a tribute to all things 'Wizard of Oz', celebrating the original book, the iconic 1939 movie, and even the Michael Jackson remake. The museum features exhibits dedicated to the books, movies, board games, souvenirs, and more related to the Land of Oz. Opened in 2003 to house collector Todd Machin's Oz artifacts for just five years, it has become a must-visit attraction for fans of L.
Wonderful experience! Fascinating and presented so well. The guy who talked before we went in was great too. Very clean and lots of neat items from the books and the 1939 film and other versions as well.
Gary J — Google review
Fun roadside type attraction (in town). Good historical content from the various movies and you can sit and watch the entire movie in their movie theater if you have the time. Gift shop is cute and even has a wind tunnel to experience tornado winds. A bit expensive for a whole family to visit but worth the stop for a one time visit.
Alicia J — Google review
Great staff. Wide selection of Oz items on display & a great selection of merch to pick from. We love to get the souvenir penny any chance we see a machine, they had one. They also have the coin holder for the smashed pennies. Good stop. We spent about 20-30 minutes here stretching our legs but you could easily stay over an hour. We take photos of the signs and read them when we get to where we’re headed so we breezed through quickly.
Carrie C — Google review
Made an 8 hour drive to visit Kansas and this was on our to do list. Admission was only $10 per person and you can go at your own pace. A lot of replicas but a fun experience and loved all the facts throughout. A lot of photo opportunities throughout as well. Nice little gift shop attached and the lady at the counter was super friendly. After this we followed the yellow brick road and found all the Toto’s in Wamego. Cute town and enjoyed the museum.
Rose G — Google review
This place was great! It had lots of scenes with all the characters and movie items. It had a theater playing the Wizard of Oz continuously. Also a hot air balloon basket you can go in for pictures. And don't forget the gift shop! It has a tornado machine that you can go in that simulates a real tornado! Well worth the $10!!!!!!
Sharon B — Google review
There is room to park anything within a two block radius of the museum. So don't worry if you're in your RV, stop by! G is a super fan of Oz. He really enjoyed himself! Well worth the money to get in.
G&C E — Google review
Loved it. Our girls saw ‘Wicked’ recently and our 4 year old is really into wizard of oz. We may even dress like it for Halloween. What a wonderful place they’ve created in Wamego, Kansas! Currently there’s an online ticket promotion we were able to access and didn’t cost us but 10 dollars for the 4 of us. Workers here obviously love their job and know ALOT about the history and the original movie. I’m sure we’ll be back. If you haven’t made the trek and you’re a local, you HAVE to check it out!
Jordan G — Google review
If you are a Wizard of Oz fan, and you are near Wemango Kansas, this is a must see! They have over 2000 items on display, documentaries playing and even the movie itself. Plus of course a gift shop with many different things to purchase. Well worth the $10 adult admission fee.

Located in Kansas, Oz Winery is a vibrant and welcoming attraction that has been producing table wines since 2007. The winery's annual production of five thousand gallons features grapes grown under the Kansas sun. Husband and wife team Brooke Balderson and Noah Wright are the creative minds behind the winery, with Brooke bringing her culinary expertise to their Private Wine Tasting Parties. Visitors can enjoy daily tastings of their diverse selection of wines, each creatively named after elements from the famous movie.
We visited oz winery after touring the oz museum. Lovely atmosphere, reasonable price, and local wines. Also, “Mary” made our time there so much better! She was very knowledgeable, passionate and wonderful. She provided us the details of the wine, history of the place and the Wamego town, fun stories, complimentary stuff, and etc. This will be a great stop by if you go see the museum or the town!
Linda J — Google review
We enjoyed our visit to the Oz Winery. Flights of wine are moderately priced 3 x 2oz for $10 and 5 x 2oz for $15. Plus 2 free 1 oz samples. They have food items (cheese, salami, crackers, and chocolates) on site as well as jams and honey. Our server, Deb, was sweet and helpful.
Victoria R — Google review
We stopped by the OZ Museum and enjoyed a wine tasting experience. The staff were friendly and attentive, and they gave us a great explanation about Kansas wines. Thank you!
JAY H — Google review
We love this place. It’s always clean and the staff are always so friendly. Great wine tastings, packaged snacks (cheese, crackers, chocolates), and a comfortable space to relax. If we are driving through KS, we intentionally stop in Wamego to visit Oz Winery (even if the stop is just for 20 minutes to visit the winery) and we always leave with at least one or two bottles of wine. We’ll be back!
Alicia A — Google review
Had an Oz-some time at the winery yesterday! I loved the Oz theme and the wine was great. The wine and souvenirs were both reasonably priced and it was hard to choose! Sue and the other workers went above and beyond and made it a FANTASTIC. I will most definitely be back.
Melissa — Google review
Very friendly man greeted us. Dog friendly if your dog can behave. Tried some wine. Bought some wine. It's very cool that it's Oz related. Stop in you won't regret it.
Kimberly T — Google review
We had a great visit with Sue, and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Loved the selection of wines. Being only about an hour away, we definitely have added another stop on our travels.
Joe B — Google review
The place is perfect going of a theme of the wizard of OZ all there bottles have a unique name/label based of it like Squished Witch. They are all different types of table wines not aged they all still have a unique delicious taste. They have a free limited tasting perfect for me as we came into town as a day trip. Seems like it would also be a fun place to just sit and have a glass with maybe some of there artisan cheese or chocolate. Bottle prices are reasonable with the quality of the blend and the creative oz theme. If I’m ever back in town will be back though definitely at some point will order online from this local small business.

Super nice even had a tray of fresh cheese curds that had different sprinkles that you could’ve chose and everything else had a wide variety of meats cheeses spreads all of it and the staff was friendly. The atmosphere is good. Plenty of parking easy on and off the freeway, couldn’t ask for much more.
Serena B — Google review
It’s a cheese store attached to the gas station, not really the creamery. That’s ok, just not 5 stars. I like the cheese I bought but they don’t taste so fresh (Mediterranean flavored cheese curds). I did buy the habanero ghost pepper cheese (proper spicy), horseradish Monterey Jack, and you get a “free” 8oz longhorn co-jack if you spend $20. All quite tasty and I like to sample local cheeses.
Xochi M — Google review
Stopped here which was part of the gas station and convenience store. All kinds of standard flavored cheese, cheese curds and spreads. Costs more but I’m sure when we taste it at home it will outshine anything from the grocery store.
Angie V — Google review
This was a pleasant surprise! The workers were helpful. The samples were yummy and definitely convinced us to make a purchase. We got snack boxes to eat on the road and cheese for home.
Jennifer H — Google review
They don’t offer custom boxes of any kind and were fairly rude. I’ve been to tons of cheese shops and they’re normally fantastic experiences but these girls in this place are rude. Proceed to talk shit about the customers in front of them. Skip this one and try the one in Green Bay Wisconsin much better service there
Kasey M — Google review
OMG, THE CHEESE!! So many kinds, so many unique flavors! They even had samples to try before you bought a big portion. They had gift boxes/baskets available, and when I was there, they had a special where you got a 1 lb brick of sharp cheddar free when you spent $40 or more. Which, of course, I did. The prices were a tad higher than expected, but everything is that way these days, it seems. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area. (Try the cheese curds!)
Rick — Google review
My wife and I love cheese & had our doubts about a cheese shop attached to a gas station along a freeway. Surprise! Their sharp cheddar was the best we've had in taste and texture. The other cheese varieties were also excellent. Too bad it's so far away from our home.
R W — Google review
The cheese was excellent, particularly the smoked cheddar. We stopped in to figure out why it was called squeaky cheese and it has to do with how the high protein count of the curds interacts with the calcium on a person's teeth.

Topeka Zoo

Zoos & Aquariums
Topeka Zoo, located within Gage Park, has been a popular attraction since 1933. Over the years, it has undergone modernization and expansion to become home to nearly 400 animals from around the world. The zoo features immersive exhibits such as Jungle Cats, Tropical Rainforest, Waterbird Lagoon, Black Bear Woods, and Kansas Carnivores.
This is a very cute zoo. We mainly came for the garden area and it did not disappoint. The zoo is well kept and the staff we interacted with were friendly. There are few animals on display or maybe with a small zoo this is the norm. Either way we had a good time and it was worth the hour drive out of our way before heading back to Nebraska.
Shirley L — Google review
We drove from KC to come to the zoo. We love the Topeka zoo. The keepers are very friendly and like to share knowledge with guests. The exhibits are nice and well kept. It is a smaller zoo, but you see a lot in a shorter amount of time. The zen garden is absolutely beautiful. The fruit bat is my favorite animal to see there.
Jaime J — Google review
Nice place with many happy animals. Walking the zoo was an easy tour with the animals looking healthy and happy. It did feel a little used with an older feel to the walk way. I was excited to see they are working on a new tiger exhibit and the giraffe exhibit. Smaller zoo for the capital of Kansas, but nice. Not a big area to build more so what they have is awesome.
Roger H — Google review
It's not a huge zoo so it makes for a great trip with little kids who may get tired at a larger zoo. They are constantly improving things and adding new additions the last few years. The staff is always amazing and friendly every time I bother them with all my questions 😂
Adam M — Google review
Stopped by while in town. Price was great, but we didn't get to see a lot of animals. The worker in the gift shop was very nice! Will try again next time earlier in the day.
Rema Z — Google review
1000% an amazing place to go I've been to this zoo probably two dozen times and every time, it's just a little different of an experience. Whether it be from the various changes the zoo is doing or just seeing a new animal in a way I haven't before. This particular time, I got to see the bear splash around in the water and enjoy life. What a great time.
A.M. H — Google review
It’s not huge zoo like KC, but the size the perfect for a small kid family. They are upgrading the tiger area which is absolutely needed. The Japanese garden is hidden gem. We love this zoo.
J Y — Google review
Last time I went to the Topeka Zoo, there were lots of dinosaurs and pterosaurs, which I really liked because it added some spice to the already awesome zoo experience. They have giraffes which are very cute and you get to watch them play soccer, which is adorable with how they just kick the little ball. I really like the hippo exhibit, the hippo swims in his pool and it's super cute. Orangutans, I think orangutans, maybe they're chimps or something, but I think they're orangutans because they're orange, anyways the orangutans are kind of scary but also pretty interesting and they like climbing. Please also check out the other monkey things and the turtle too. Overall very nice experience.

Kansas State Capitol Visitor Center

Mentioned on

Visitor center
Sights & Landmarks
When in Topeka, don't miss the Kansas State Capitol Visitor Center, home to the iconic Kansas State Capitol. This historic building houses the state's executive and legislative branches and offers guided tours that explore its chambers, murals, and library. The Capitol underwent a 14-year renovation completed in 2014, making it a shining monument to Kansas history. One of its unique features is the towering dome, which offers breathtaking views and is one of the few capitols in the U.S.
The Kansas State Capitol is an incredible place to visit! The building itself is stunning, with beautiful architecture, detailed murals, and an impressive dome that you can actually climb if you’re up for it. The guided tours are informative and give a fascinating look into Kansas history and government. I was especially impressed by the artwork inside, including the famous John Steuart Curry murals. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and everything was very well maintained. Whether you’re interested in history, architecture, or just want to enjoy great views of Topeka from the top of the dome, this is a must-see stop!
Nasser D — Google review
Another great capitol. It has a parking garage right under the building, which leads to the visitor's center. There is an informative museum and gift shop. The building is very nice inside and allows you to tour the dome and even go outside around it. I did not go on the tour because there are certain times they do it. I would definitely try to come back just for that.
Dennis L — Google review
As part of a cross country road trip in September 2024 stopped to see several state capitol buildings. Kansas has a very nice one that is well worth the time to visit if you are in the area. Tour guide was very knowledgeable. Tour lasted about an hour and included a lot of information on the history of the state. There is a separate tour for those that want to go up into the rotunda area. We didn’t do it due to time constraints. Highly recommend seeing this state capitol building if you are in the area.
Rich T — Google review
Took the free dome tour. It was a lot of stairs-- the older folks with us decided not to go all the way to the top-- but you're able to go outside at the top and see an amazing view. Tour guide was knowledge and interesting. Call ahead of your group is large, but we were able to show up without calling ahead about 15 minutes early. Go in the door below the stairs at the north of the building. The shop had a variety of things and was clean and professional. Highly recommend.
Amber W — Google review
The museum on the bottom floor was interesting, but the building itself is amazing. Beautiful architecture, the next time I am through Topeka, I will do the dome tour. I did not have time to explore the library either, but it looked like a place to get lost in for a few days
Ryce E — Google review
Very happy with our decision to visit the Kansas State Capitol. The staff was fantastic. We chose the guided tour but they do have self tour options as well. We brought our soon to be 2 year old and at an hour the tour was just long enough to be to long for him. I did the tour of the dome as well and was impressed with that. It's a lot of stairs, be prepared. All in all highly recommend.
Louis H — Google review
The Topeka Capitol Visitor Center offers a welcoming and informative experience. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the exhibits are engaging and well-presented. A must-visit for anyone interested in history or government!
EagleCore M — Google review
Loved the 1 hr free historical guided tour. Our tour guide was informative and clear. Learned about the state history of Kansas, state Capitol building, murals, etc. Highly recommend to do the tour. It is a beautiful building inside and out. There is also a dome tour I did not have time for.

Specialty Museums
The Evel Knievel Museum is a tribute to the legendary daredevil, showcasing his journey to fame and his death-defying motorcycle jumps that resulted in numerous broken bones. Visitors can explore authentic memorabilia, including his iconic bikes, performance leathers, and battered helmets. The 13,000 sq ft museum opened in June 2017 and features exhibits dedicated to Knievel's famous jumps. The first floor of the museum is built around his restored Mack Truck 'Big Red.'
Growing up as a preteen and teen in the 70’s, Evel was a larger than life daredevil. I remember watching the televised jumps, especially the terrifying Caesar’s Palace and Snake River Canyon jumps. And his interviews, he was always calm and cool. Afterwards we would go outside, get on our bikes and jump over homemade ramps and do wheelies. Unfortunately, the museum is being relocated to Las Vegas. I’m looking forward to revisiting it in its new location, I’m sure it will be bigger and better than ever!
Mike S — Google review
Added this stop at the last minute since we had extra time in town. Nice museum and had some good displays. Probably not someplace you’d want to stop unless at least one of your group has fond memories of growing up watching Evel. Overall we had a good time and my kids enjoyed it even though they had no idea what it was all about going in. I passed on my memories from my childhood so they could see what an icon he was. We were there about an hour and a half so it is overall a well done museum full of one of a kind memorabilia and a good place to stretch your legs if your passing through town.
Chris E — Google review
Great information about an American Legend. Saw both his jumps in Hutchinson Kansas at the State Fair and immediately went to building ramps and jumping our bicycles. Many bent rims n upset parents of the neighborhood kids
Bill W — Google review
Glad I went before it moves to Las Vegas ! Lots of memories from when I was a kid. Well put together displays , videos and news clippings. Also bought the motorcycle action figure combo , glad I did.
K S — Google review
This was a good experience. It wasn't to expensive and it had a lot of memorabilia. It had his motorcycles and his truck that have been refurbished. It started when he was a child and went through his death. It is all cataloged and talks about what he did and there was even videos of his jumps and wrecks. I liked how it really focused on him and not the rest of his family. It had some things from my childhood as in toys and even a Wheaties box. :-) It was also a beautiful buliding that it was in.
Chad M — Google review
Super nice people and a fun place to visit. Get here while it's still in Topeka, it's moving to Las Vegas. Great displays and the VR jump was worth the extra $5. Incredible story. But sure to visit the Harley Davidson museum it's almost as good.
Robert Q — Google review
Spent about 1.5hrs to read through everything and also did the 2 min simulator ride. A really well curated museum to showcase Evel Knievel’s career from child to retirement. Really great short plaques throughout with videos showcasing the jump. Loved that they summarized whether the stunt was a success or resulted in an injury. However, would of loved to see a dedicated section for his son, after learning that his son followed footsteps for 40 years.
Anni K — Google review

Sights & Landmarks
The Brown v. Board of Education National Historical Park is located in Topeka, Kansas and commemorates the landmark Supreme Court case that ended racial segregation in public schools. The former Monroe Elementary School, one of the city's segregated schools, now serves as a civil rights interpretive center and National Historic Site.
I finally had time to visit and I'm so glad I did! I will return again. All the Park Rangers and volunteers were very supportive and helpful. I learned a great deal and I know my next visits I'll pick up more information. Their bookstore/gift shop is small but I found my book to describe what I just experienced, my NPS coin (no penny smasher), bumper sticker, t shirt and NPS tote. Oh and magnet. It's free, so I didn't "get to show" my America the Beautiful pass but they had a donation box to help support the Park, which I did. It's important to support our National Parks and historical sites. I will support it as often as I am in Topeka.
Shellie R — Google review
A really informative and important moment to remember. Making this a National Park Historical place was the right thing. A well put together resource to remember the historic court cases that abolished segregation in schools. Something that sane and logical people need to continue to remember and uphold the ideals of good.
Lucas T — Google review
Such an amazing National Park! Well designed and very easy to navigate! A MUST SEE FOR TEACHERS! We got our US National Park Passport Stamped including the 60th anniversary stamp!
Heidi G — Google review
While on a cross country road trip in September 2024 we visited several places in Topeka, one of which was the school building that was central to the US Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of education. Very friendly park staff took the time to provide a lot of information and explained the background behind the case. Very good layout and exhibits to see. Spent about an hour here. If you are in the Topeka area, highly recommend seeing this.
Rich T — Google review
A must see/do for any person interested in history, civil rights, or government. So much to learn here so that history does not repeat itself. It is sad that this is part of our American history, yet so important to learn from. All the exhibits are so well done. Staff was also excellent. Nice gift shop. Free parking lot across the street. No entry fee.

Very through explanation of the cases surrounding Brown v Board of Education. My kids actually enjoyed filling out the Jr Ranger books

The Brown V. Board of Education NHS is a Park that you need to see. Passport cancelation stamps are on a table as you walk into the building. There are six passport cancelation stamps here! The staff and park ranger were very nice and knowledgeable. They answered any and all questions I had.

🎼 ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK, GO KU!!🏀 This is the hometown of basketball; c'mon out and watch a game at Allen Fieldhouse for the experience. We do have the loudest stadium full of Jaw hawkers! We townies are so blessed to have Kansas University right here in our backyards. This school also brings in so many multicultural people from all around the world, so you can potentially meet someone from anywhere, which is just so cool 😎!

I am trying to wrap up an online program with KU, and I cannot express how much I feel underserved based on how much effort I have put into my program of studies and how little engagement I have seen from our instructors. I have paid thousands of dollars for poor-production-value recorded lectures (some of which were literally from a face-to-face class prior to Covid), and "instructors" that are just using these older lectures (often not even of them) and having TAs grade their papers. I'd check the syllabus for guidance, but that isn't even correct a lot of the time. Need help? Well you better be able to access the Zoom link in the middle of a weekday, which seems pretty odd for an online program. Want to go through legitimate channels to voice your concerns and complaints? "We value your feedback, " but if that were the case wouldn't things be improving? I have tried multiple avenues to voice my concerns, which has led me finally here. Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else for online programs.

I have to say I really like that the school has such great students and faculty. I also love that they have a program for incoming faculty (not sure if for staff) for dual careers. It is hard to relocate a lot and get the lay of the land when you follow your spouse.

One of the most beautiful universities in Kansas (yes, I know the quality of education is more important). I came here for some friends' graduation some years ago and it was packed full of people! I liked the atmosphere here.

My only beef with KU is that they're forcing my daughter out of her dorm/apartment building and giving the whole thing to incoming freshman, like her presence there doesn't matter since she's not new.

Massachusetts St, affectionately known as "Mass" by locals, is the vibrant main thoroughfare in downtown Lawrence, Kansas. This historic street is lined with diverse restaurants, unique boutique stores, and a lively art scene with numerous galleries. It's also home to the first brewery in Kansas since Prohibition, Free State Brewing Company. The area is pedestrian-friendly and features over 100 shops, restaurants, cafes, galleries, pubs and more.
Beautiful historic street with nice shops and restaurants, lively atmosphere, and relatively easy parking on Saturday morning.

There aren’t a lot of streets I can walk down these days with a dramatic hit of nostalgia. I love coming down to mass every chance I get to visit my alma mater. To visit some of the established locations that have been here for decades or to dabble into the new restaurants and shops there is always something special about Revisiting Massachusetts St.

Pirtle Winery

Food & Drink
Nestled in the charming town of Weston, Pirtle Winery has been a beloved fixture since its establishment in 1978. Housed in a beautifully restored historic church, this family-owned gem invites visitors to explore its unique offerings through engaging tours and tastings. The winery boasts an impressive selection of wines crafted from locally grown grapes, including classic reds and whites, delightful fruit wines, and meads that are sure to please any palate.
Located in an old church in beautiful Weston this is a stop you must make! We stopped in Pirtle unexpectedly on the way back to our car after the Weston Apple Fest and I’m glad we did! We did the wine tasting where you get to pick 7 different wines, ciders, and meads to try and everything we had was great. The girl that served us was very knowledgeable of every product and was very personable! I wish I could remember her name because she needs some recognition for her hospitality! We ended up buying a bottle to bring home and enjoy. They do have a patio and seating downstairs if you decide you want to drink your bottle there.
Sam — Google review
Pirtle was fantastic! We arrived with a group of 18 and were immediately welcomed for a tasting of 7 wines for $15 and they were superb! Saturday afternoon had live music and an excellent charcuterie board! Highly recommend!

They have one of the best Missouri Norton wines I've ever had and I highly recommend picking up a bottle or two. Very nice employees and the service is excellent. I will be back for sure!

One of the neatest little wineries we’ve ever been to. Christie was delightful and so fun to chat with, as she walked us through tasting their outstanding wines. Some of the best I’ve had around Missouri/Kansas!

Heather was very knowledgeable, personable and made our tasting super fun! Had so much fun came back with my husband! Kara helped with our tasting this time and she was just as wonderful even though they were close to closing time. Thank you!
Amy D — Google review
Have done a great job renovating this old church into a fantastic tasting room. I have been a fan of Pirtle wines for years.
Matthew H — Google review
We were really disappointed with our experience here. This winery was the last stop on our wine tour, and instead of being welcomed, our group was refused service under the claim that we were “too intoxicated.” We had responsibly enjoyed the day, pacing ourselves and following the rules at every other stop without issue. In fact, we were served without a problem both before and after visiting this winery, which makes it very clear that their refusal was unnecessary and unfair. If this winery participates in wine tours, they should be prepared to accommodate guests who have been tasting throughout the day. Unfortunately, the lack of hospitality and poor customer service means we won’t be returning or recommending it to others.
Sadie W — Google review
Pirtle Winery is a delightful discovery in the heart of the US! Crisp, refreshing wine and mead, hard cider, and a beautiful setting for a winery and tasting room. Brandi, the manager, made the experience enjoyable and educational. Yet another hidden gem in the heartland!

Holladay Distillery

Distillery
Food & Drink
Holladay Distillery, founded in 1856, offers a fascinating journey into the history of American distilling. Located in Weston, Missouri on land charted by Lewis and Clark, the distillery's limestone springs are perfect for bourbon production. As the oldest continuously operating distillery in the country, Holladay Distillery provides tours of its historic buildings and a tasting room for visitors to experience its rich heritage firsthand.
This was the main event of a birthday weekend to the KC area. I want to tell you how amazing this place is. We were the first tour of the day, and we arrived shortly after they opened the doors for the day. We were greeted as we entered into the bar area by Morgan with the biggest smile and the warmest greeting. She gave us a quick run down of the main area and let us go and check it all out. We let them know that we were there for the tour and they checked us in. We got a couple of drinks from the bar area and waited for our tour to start. There is a great indoor lounge space and a really cool porch space to enjoy your drinks. Everything was amazing. Then we met our tour guide Jackie and she was even better. Everyone was checked in and ready for the tour so we got started a little early. The tour itself was amazing and full of great information and some interactive parts mixed in. It finished up in the tasting room where we tried a handful of the bourbons that they distill as well as an Irish cream product that they distill as well. What an amazing experience. It was the talk of the rest of the trip. Would I do it again 100 percent yes! This was an amazing experience and if you are on the fence if it is worth the price tag. Book with confidence you will have a great time! Beautiful property with great staff.

Holladay Distillery is a great tour! We enjoyed our tour and our tour guide so much. The history and all the stories were very well told. The property is beautiful and very well maintained. The tasting at the end was so good as well! Really enjoyed the discussion with our tour guide and how she likes to drink each bourbon.

Located in Weston MO Local Distillery that uses locally sourced Limestone well water and MO Oak Barrels. We purchased tour tickets and Matthew was our Tour guide and a very informative one at that! 👍🏻 Tours last about two hours which includes tasting of three Bourbons 🥃 Cute little retail store attached to the tasting room.

We had a fantastic time touring the property with Jackie! She was so personal, and knowledgable, and really made our experience memorable! The grounds were absolutely stunning and so well kept! I won’t give any secrets away about the tour, but there’s 2 key things about the tour you won’t find on a Kentucky bourbon trail tour that really set this distillery apart. Worth every penny!
Jessica H — Google review
We visited Holladay Distillery to celebrate Jen’s birthday and had an incredible experience. Emma, our tour guide, was exceptional—engaging, knowledgeable, and made the tour so much fun. Patrick also joined and shared his expertise, adding even more depth to the experience. The grounds were absolutely beautiful, the bourbon tasting was a highlight, and the cocktails before and after the tour were top-notch. Every staff member we met was friendly, welcoming, and made the day extra special.

Visited and then Scheduled tour! Honestly, we had amazing bar tenders/hosts for each visit, but Morgan as a tour guide was like icing on a cake. She was so fun, entertaining, and knowledgeable. Having recently toured Bourbon Country the past year, Morgan and the Holladay team was a cut above the rest for sure! Like a 4th-floor honeypot barrell treasure! We also had an amazing visit to the downtown store as well. Thanks Holladay!! PS, you should make icecream topping out of the day 3 foam and offer sundaes with vanilla icecream, Irish cream, and the day 3 foam as an optional topper for savory fans like me!!

We did the bourbon tour at Holladay Distillery in Weston, and it was such a great experience! This was my first bourbon tour, and our guide Matt made it awesome from start to finish. He was super friendly, funny, and really knew his stuff and answered every question we threw at him and made the whole thing feel relaxed and fun. The tour itself was interesting, the tastings were great, and the vibe was just perfect. Highly recommend stopping by and if you can, ask for Matt!

The family had a great time on the Polar Express! The entertainment was funny and the staff kept us occupied the entire time. The hot chocolate was very good and so was the cookie. Santa was there on the train as well. We went for first class tickets so you can sit around a table with your family. I would recommend first class because of that. In coach you sit facing one direction so I imagine it’s more difficult to interact with your family and maybe see your kids’ reactions to what’s going on. Would definitely recommend doing this at least once. I hope we can do this every year!

We took our kids (nieces, nephews and my daughters) on the Polar Express train ride in December. I will never forget that experience! It was so much fun and everything was perfect!! We live 10min north of the MO river and our drive was about 45min. It was quick and the only issue we had was the kids needing a bathroom break as soon as we got close. :) I'm happy you offered the preferred parking passes and I ABSOLUTELY recommend that if you can because you walk a couple feet to the tent to board the trains. It's fast and saves from any inconvenience beforehand. I can't imagine there is any... but it was so nice to be that close regardless. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful memory I will never forget. I know our kids won't!

The Kansas Speedway is a large motorsports facility accommodating up to 72,000 individuals for NASCAR races and other auto-related events. Despite unpredictable weather conditions, the venue remains consistent in delivering impressive races year after year. While certain special events had been cancelled on Sunday morning, the Ignition Garage still managed to entertain visitors with exciting racing activities despite running out of food and beverages. Overall, Kansas Speedway provides a memorable experience for fans of car racing and related events.
It's a wonderful race track with great views of the entire track! I highly recommend this for avid fans who like exciting races! It has capabilities to hold day or night races, and I have been there during a rain delayed race and saw a day night race.
Jereme V — Google review
My girls and i had a blast with all the fun stops out front. The race was also really fun to watch! However, the restrooms were disgusting! There were dead bugs everywhere and the sink water wasn't working. It was as if bathrooms haven't been cleaned or remodeled in 10 years.

Amazing experience at Kansas Speedway! Stayed in a suite with incredible views of the race. The food was great, staff were super friendly, and the action on the track kept us on the edge of our seats. Can’t wait to come back!

Adam H — Google review
Not mother/family/infant friendly! My husband and I have loved attending races at Kansas Speedway since we've met. Last year, we had a child and decided to take the year off. Recently, we've had several successful outings to Kauffman stadium for Royals games and other public venues, so we were hoping it would be alright to make a trip to Kansas Speedway this fall for the playoff race. It is disappointing that there is no mother's room, so when my 11 month old got fussy because he was tired, there was no where for me to retreat with him for a quick nap or a break from his headphones. Also, the line for the family bathroom was at least 10 deep every time I checked. I ended up changing my son on the ground to the side of the concourse. Thankfully, I'm no longer nursing or pumping because I would have had to do that in a bathroom stall. Hopefully, Kansas Speedway follows the lead of other big event venues and sports complexes like Kauffman Stadium and initiates a mother's room so that guests with infants feel more welcome at their events. Unfortunately, I would definitely not recommend taking a young infant to Kansas Speedway. I'm not sure when my family will be comfortable returning. Otherwise, the facility is great. The seats are narrow, but no big deal for a 3 hour race and the sections with the tables in front are totally worth it. Put on your walking shoes if you're headed to a race because it'll probably be a pretty long walk to your seats from your car. But parking is free and you can bring a cooler with drinks and food. Overall, it's clean and fun.

We love this place! I was disappointed at the driver's meeting however.,waited 2 hrs (at the fenced in area) just to have the "elites" stand in front of us at the beginning of the meeting blocking our veiw. The fans support everything associated with the speedway. It was the Kroger people coming in late.

If you're looking for a unique shopping experience in Kansas City, Legends Outlets is the place to be! As the only designer outlet center in the state, it boasts over 100 stores featuring popular brands like Kate Spade and J. Crew Factory. Beyond shopping, you can indulge in delicious dining options at restaurants such as Dave and Buster's and Yardhouse. The outdoor mall is designed with fun themes that create an inviting atmosphere—think fisherman motifs and prairie hunters alongside a charming glassy pool.
One of the largest malls featuring factory outlets from a wide range of popular brands. After a long day of shopping, the on-site theater offers a perfect opportunity to unwind with a movie. A well-rounded experience and definitely worth the visit.

It’s ok, you can tell it’s all fairly new. Clean and well maintained. Shops aren’t super exciting and the fountain not being on and being worked on was a bit of a bummer. If you buy anything from BAM and want a bag to carry what you just purchased you will need to purchase said bag per their policy… we walked through everything entirely in under 45 min.

Such a fantastic place! Amazing shopping, great atmosphere! Love the Adidas store!!
The T — Google review
Having lived in larger metropolitan cities like Northern VA and DC, outlets are much bigger like Potomac Mills, Leesburg outlets, Tangier Outlets so Legends outlets aren’t as expansive and store varieties aren’t as much. HOWEVER, to be fair Legends outlets is a cool place with all its nice touches that set it apart in many ways. It has a combination of amenities such as: photo booths, small stationary coin-operated rides for kids, a barber shop and of course the giant Dave and Busters and AMC theatre. It’s a place truly for many whims and activities and not endless destination for just shoppers! This place has garage parking that seamlessly leads to covered areas of the outlets unlike most larger outlets where parking is in large lots where it’s a challenge to find cover in inclement weather let alone find your parked car! It’s just reflective of the ease and laid back and experience-centric feel of this wonderful city and state!!! (Now I envy my boyfriend M Dz*****z for having had a majority of his adolescent life in Olathe/Lenexa/Overland Park area).

You guys left hundreds of people and families and children very disappointed. The fact that you didn’t post that you were no longer playing movies in the lawn is shameful. You broke families and children’s hearts. Terrible look for new management. Just so you know I share the same opinion of everyone that is here right now on the lawn waiting for a movie that is not going to play. I’m a father of 4 and one of the reasons we moved back to KS was for the movie on the lawn at Legends. Bad, bad look. Please see the photos of the hearts you just broke. The fact you had to have your employees come to our blankets after we already set up and lay out to watch the movies to tell us you are no longer showing movies. I will be leaving a review on BBB and contacting the Attorney General as well on how awful this has been handled. What a terrible way to handle this. Shame on you. Good luck keeping anyone’s business going forward. Edit/Update. Thank you guys so much for listening to your customers. This will make such a huge difference to so many families.

Casinos & Gambling
The Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway is a popular destination for those looking to try their luck at slot machines and table games. The casino also boasts a variety of dining options, including the highly recommended Turn 2 restaurant where customers rave about the burgers and chicken sandwiches. The onion rings are a must-try item on the menu according to many visitors. Though some machines were closed due to covid restrictions, the casino has a modern and clean atmosphere that attracts many visitors.
I love this casino! I love the customer service way more live than any casino in the state of Kansas! I had a situation where I hit a bonus on a 250 spin and the machine froze! Immediately tech was there to calm me down and to do his tech savvy work on the Slot machine not only did he fix it and allow me to serve my bonus, but Ivan the casino manager, one of the most caring individuals and positive individuals that I’ve ever met in my life! He comped Me a bonus for the inconvenience Which made me feel so good about where I’m going to gamble at from this moment foward No wonder he’s the casino manager! top class of a guy!

The restaurants have good variety, even breakfast all day, and big portions and hot, freshly made. There is a great variety of machines, new and old. There is some noticeable smoke but a non- smoking section is provided. The respin buttons are frequently broken.
Mary M — Google review
UPDATE: On this last visit, it seemed like this casino has worked hard to improve things. I primarily played KENO at the bar. Drinks were tasty and staff very polite. They didn't hesitate to take immediate action when I reported a dog locked in a car 98 degrees outside. Large dog was already panting hard. Great job security. ***************** Terrible experience. Keno machines didn't work right. Ultimate poker machine hold button didn't work. Another machines had blurry screens. Very poorly maintained machines. I think Orgosy and Ameristar would be your better BET.

It's a nice looking casino. Slot machines, table games with some dining options. Has a non smoking section which is nice. Friendly staff.

UPDATE: This was my original review (see below): Absolutely filthy casino. To play smells like a thousand dirty ashtrays. Their are cigarette ashes all over the machines and empty beer bottles laying on the floor. Bathrooms were disgusting. Every time we go there we are sick for the next 3 days. 9/3/2025: This is the UPDATED Review regarding HOLLYWOOD CASINO: I had posted pictures of dozens of "Out of Order" games. Almost all those games are gone and "working games" are there now. The Casino has a MUCH better vibe. The live DJ and 80's music is fantastic. Dirty ashtrays and beer bottles laying on the floor still plague this place, but it is getting better. The food at the PIT STOP is pretty darn good, especially the pizza. The Marquee Cafe is very good, as is the Final Cut Steakhouse. We've only eaten one thing at Turn 2, but it was good as well. Overall, this place is getting better. If they could just clean up the cigarette butts laying everywhere along with the empty bottles, cups, etc.. and get someone to wipe down the machines, this place would be a 4+ star casino. I can tell you this. I spend over $500-$1,500 per visit and i WIN a LOT MORE here than i do at Prairie Band Casino. PBC has gotten greedy while this place has gotten looser.

Wife had just come out of casino as I went in she gave me five dollar ticket on the way in security stopped me at the front as for my ID well I had recently lost my physical ID and I had gone to get it replaced and gotten a paper ID for temporary use until my physical came in the mail. well regard the door was just unprofessional, rude, and downright intolerant would not hear anything I had to say basically told me I could not be on the property if I didn’t have a physical ID so I was OK with that at first till he wouldn’t even let me cash in my five dollar ticket at the machine less than 2 feet from the door kept repeating I couldn’t be on the property and the manager came and said the same thing. Forgot to take many photos, but the restroom was great and I took a moment to document that! Nice layout and aesthetic is fantastic. Games just take your money, but the sign up bonus points were great and the food was phenomenal! Would definitely recommend and we'll be back when in the area!

The Arabia Steamboat Museum in Kansas City is a popular attraction that offers a fascinating journey back to the mid-nineteenth century American frontier. It houses the largest collection of pre-Civil War artifacts in the world, all recovered from a steamboat that sank in the Missouri River in 1856. Visitors can explore exhibits and presentations showcasing everyday items, clothing, and tools from pioneer life.
My wife and i stumbled upon this museum on our travels through KC. All we can say is “WOW!” What an incredible place. Its a giant time capsule from there 1850s. It was so educational to see these artifacts is pristine condition. We also got to meet one of the treasure-hunters that discovered the sunken steam ship. A must see if you’re in this area.

So I had heard the amazing story of how this was found a few years ago. The determination of the guys was awesome. Glad they decided to keep it all in one place and share it with the world. Amazing to see all that was recovered and the pieces that remained. Really worth the stop if you can make your way to this museum.

Find yourself in Kansas City? The Arabia Steamboat Museum in the River Market is an absolute must-visit — a true hidden gem that left me completely awestruck. From the moment you walk in, you sense that this place is special. The curators have masterfully woven storytelling and preservation into a captivating experience. You begin with short, powerful videos about the steamboat’s tragic sinking in 1856 and its miraculous rediscovery in the 1980s. Then you’re led through exhibit rooms filled with artifacts that seem impossibly well preserved — from shoes and hat pins to tools, kitchenware, and even jars of pickles. The fact that these relics survived underground for over a century is in itself astonishing. One of the highlights is walking along a full-scale replica of the Arabia’s main deck (171 ft long), complete with original boilers, anchors, the paddle wheel, and even a mule skeleton recovered from the wreck. It’s immersive, eerie, and wonderfully educational. What I appreciated most was the balance between big “wow” artifacts and the tiny, everyday items — every jar, nail, or coin gives you a micro-glimpse into frontier life in 1856. The staff is knowledgeable and clearly passionate, and they make the science of preservation feel as exciting as the history itself. If you’re a history buff, a lover of oddities, or just someone who enjoys places that make you stop and think, the Arabia Steamboat Museum will deliver. And as a bonus, its setting in the River Market makes it easy to pair with strolling, local food, or nearby shops. I’m giving it five stars — I’ll be recommending this place to everyone I know.

The museum had excellent pieces of the lost cargo from the Arabian Steamboat. Loved the exhibits of tools, clothing, and detailed goods needed for the 1850's. We loved the videos put together for the story of the adventurous dig, and the theater show put on for visitors. However one of the staff was a little off-putting near the end of our tour. We talked with two of them. We lacked knowledge on some of the subjects, and frankly even though they explained themselves, I believe they didn't express much in grace for our lack of knowledge. We told them thank you and left for the day. I am not certain that I would return, in spite of the lovely exhibits and intriguing storyline. I'm glad that the museum exists for the story though. Good to save another piece of history.

We visited the Arabia Steamboat Museum today, and it was awesome! The history, artifacts, and exhibits were all fascinating—and Josh made the experience even better. Definitely worth the visit. One tip: parking on one side of the building is free, but the other side is paid. We didn’t know that and ended up paying when we didn’t have to!

We paid $35.96 for two people in October 2025. It is a very interesting place that is at the deepest lower levels of the building. There's a big wheel that was pretty cool and you could see it rotating in the water. Though I could not locate the actual source of the energy which I'm assuming is a massive electric motor of some sort with a gearbox and it was hidden. The place is extremely dark for those with limited vision which hindered my ability to see a lot of the attractions. Electricity must be a factor in how they display things because it would be better fully lit to actually see a lot of it. Since it's a merchant ship most of the merchandise is what you would expect from a delivery vehicle or a massive container ship. The merchandise that was on said ship is quite interesting and I've had a number of those items over the years. I especially lock their lock collection. I lived in a farmhouse as a kid that had all those white ceramic locks and knobs. The fine China was really beautiful and you can find exact pieces online through eBay or other sources and the prices are pretty expensive. One basic white serving dish with lid was over $250. The price was about what you would expect from a place designed to bring in tourist and visitors. It's a bit more than other places at 16.50 per person.

One of the most fantastic places I have been to and it's hardly advertised. Wifey and I were recommended to go here by a couple we never met at a Subway sandwich shop he said yeah there's the steamboat Museum you might find interesting. WOW! WHAT A FRIGGAN UNDERSTATEMENT!! Google the Arabian steamboat sinking for additional information but this is a site not to be missed.

The Steamboat Arabia Museum is one of the most fascinating places I’ve visited in the city. It’s like stepping into a perfectly preserved time capsule from the 1850s. The story of how the steamboat sank—and how it was excavated 132 years later from a Kansas cornfield—is incredible in itself. But the real magic is in the artifacts: hundreds of thousands of items, from boots to buttons to bottled preserves, all remarkably intact. The museum is very well laid out and the staff do an excellent job explaining the history and significance of what you’re seeing. Whether you’re into history, archaeology, or just love a good story, this is a must-see. Great for families, tourists, or even locals who haven’t been yet. Highly recommend making time for this unique slice of American history!

Union Station Kansas City, situated in the Crown Center District, is a beautifully restored and fully operational train station dating back to 1914. It houses the Arvin Gottlieb Planetarium, Science City, and the Regnier Extreme Screen Theatre. As the second-largest working train station in the country, it sees numerous Amtrak trains daily.
Union Station. It is one of the greatest buildings ever built. I've loved this place since I was a kid. One of the greatest building marvels of its time. With a rich history from traveling to the Gangster era it's a must see if your visiting Kansas City Missouri 😇

Our family had a remarkable and unforgettable experience at the Union Station Christmas show. The environment was warm, welcoming, and truly magical. It’s a perfect place for families, friends, and even business gatherings to enjoy the holiday spirit together. Highly recommended!

Absolutely gorgeous place! Learning about the building's history was incredibly fascinating. Even if you don't have a lot of time, it's worth dropping in just to view the architecture & the carefully curated history displays about Union Station. Walk around & take in those 95-foot ceilings with a cup of coffee from the cafe on-site or grab a bite of lunch from the restaurant. There is so much to do here & they have featured exhibitions as well. We only visited to view the building & the history displays but they have tons of other stuff to do, so do your research ahead of time. It could easily be turned into a full day of exploration. Long live Union Station!

This place was AMAZING!!! It is worthy of a visit by everyone. The place is generally free - that's why you pay for parking. The first 30 minutes are free. Then you pay $7 for up to 5 hours. It's a but of change after that. The place was big. These are free areas that tells you about trains and you get to walk the large hall. At the front of the place is 3 floors that is about the building and how it was build and restored. That part is free. There's 4 restaurants in there, 2 areas you have to pay for the kids (an outdoor play area, and kids science museum), a movie theater, and a free planetarium. There's also a small interacted science museum that has optical illusions. It was $18 per person. And, of course, a gift shop. There's also an Amtrak that runs to St. Louis. So yes, there's a REAL train there too. And a post office. The architecture is Wonderful-Amazing-Superb!!! The restoration is explained on the 3rd floor of the museum. Very interesting. There's also a part about a WW1 monument that's outside. It's free too. Overall, it's a place for the entire family, couples and older ones. No pets allowed, but they wouldn't get much out of it anyway. A must see!! So, why travel outside of the United States? *wisper* no passport.

We had a nice afternoon at Union Station. It had been about 20 years since our last visit and we happened to be there during KC Fringe. We went and visited the museum parts upstairs to learn about the history of the station. We wandered around and saw the Guinness World Record exhibit and we went to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory where we took advantage of their buy 5 get 1 free for their truffles.

Fantastic historic train station in my favorite style (neo-classical). Beautiful building with a nice history display right by the Link walkway. Various things to do in the station, and tons of other activities easily accessible nearby. I also enjoyed the Freight Bridge that connects the station to the restaurants and area North of the station. Perfect place to look down on trains coming and going.

I enjoyed spending the morning here, shopping, browsing the museums and simply walking around. The museums included one for the Kansas City Chiefs football team and model trains. So much to do in one space. I even bought a postcard and mailed it from the Post Office on site.

The National WWI Museum and Memorial is the only public museum in the nation dedicated to World War I. As you enter, a glass-floored bridge over a field of 9,000 red poppies sets a reverent tone, each poppy representing 1,000 military deaths. The museum houses an extensive collection of over 100,000 objects, documents, and materials from World War I.
This place was amazing! Educational and interesting we need more museums like this. Did an amazing job explaining the details that aren't taught in school with a lot of artifacts and historical records. I recommend everybody visit this place piece of History. Besides the marvellous architecture and beautiful scenic view you get at this monument, to me this place is filled with emotions. The place reminds me of all the beautiful souls whose courage and sacrifice helped bring peace and stability that we are enjoying today. Each picture or artefact in this museum is filled with so much history, story, and emotion that I cannot describe; you have to visit this place to experience it. Also, don't forget to cherish the beautiful Poppy flower bed at the main entrance block and try to find out what it represents. In short, this place is where you can enjoy these magnificent monuments, get one of the best views of Kansas City, take beautiful pictures, learn and experience history, and pay respect to the brave and beautiful souls.

Impressive collection of artifacts from WW1 and massive amounts of information! The volunteers were very friendly and informative. This museum is very well done. From an artistic standpoint it has a unique design with Egyptian Revival and Art Deco elements. On a clear day, there are beautiful views from the top of the tower. There is so much to see it is hard to do it in just one day.

What a cool museum! Would be easy to spend a couple of hours there. So much history. A couple of places you walk over glass to read what's under, or see the poppies. Twelve minute info movie runs on repeat. Free parking. Beautiful park area. Tower view amazing. Ticket was $13. That includes main museum and tower. There was a private exhibit you could add on for $6 I think. I only had time for 2 areas. Gift shop and café inside as well.

The National WWI Museum and Memorial is an incredible experience powerful, educational, and beautifully designed. The exhibits are immersive and tell the story of the Great War through real artifacts, videos, and personal stories. The Liberty Memorial tower offers stunning views of Kansas City, and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Plan at least 2 hours to really take it all in. A must-visit spot in KC!

This place and the city in general is beautiful. I didn't take any of the tours because I had my dog with me. I did go inside to ask questions about the outside architecture. Basically, it was built when Egypt was all the hype. The sphinx looking toward the west is a symbol of progress and I think they said the one looking toward the east is for a reminder of the past. The tall tower are the 4 guardians looking over everyone and each resemble something like Honor, Courage, Patriotism, and Sacrifice the virtues that protected the soldiers during W.W.I. I could be wrong about some of this info so its best to go and ask questions yourself. I also asked if the guardians were influenced by Greek or Roman gods because the Sphinx to me looks more like the Greek Sphinx and the historians told me no there is no link to Greek or Roman mythology. In my opinion the guardians look like Mercury or Hermes. Messengers of the God's. I like to think they are depictions of them, forever messengers of the past to remind us of a better future. Remind us what our ancestors fought for.

Worth visiting. Recommend getting the tower tickets with the museum ones combined, it's cheaper and hmthe views from the tower were spectacular. Museum was a great place to learn about the WW1 history!

The Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead in Overland Park is a delightful family destination with a range of attractions. Visitors can explore nature trails, interact with farm animals, and admire butterfly gardens and birds of prey. The farmstead also features show gardens, a Kanza Native American display, and a one-room schoolhouse.
We absolutely loved our visit to Deanna Rose Farmstead! The entire place is beautifully maintained — the grounds are clean and inviting, and the animals are clearly very well cared for. It’s such a perfect summer outing for families, especially with young children. There are so many interactive experiences that make learning fun. Our kids had a blast feeding the adorable goats and exploring all the different animal areas. It’s also an amazing opportunity for them to learn about farm life in the early 1900s, with hands-on exhibits that bring history to life in such an engaging way. Every staff member we met was incredibly warm and welcoming — you could tell they genuinely enjoy being there. It’s rare to encounter such consistent friendliness, and it made the experience even more special. The gardens throughout the farmstead are absolutely beautiful, and the enchanted forest area felt like stepping into a storybook. There’s just so much to see and do — we could have spent all day there. Highly recommend for a fun, educational, and heartwarming family day out!

Deanna Rose Homestead was the most amazing evening! The pricing was very reasonable, and everything was so well cared for. The grass, the animal areas, and even the tractors scattered throughout made it feel authentic and fun. The 18th-century recreated village added so much personality and charm to the experience. Truly a wonderful place to visit and worth every bit of 5 stars.

I usually write long reviews, but I’m going to try to keep this one short and let the photos speak for me. This place is amazing. It is magical. I could easily spend the entirety of my day here, every day. There is so much to see and to do. There are flowers and plants everywhere. There are something like fifty baby goats, maybe more?! So cute! And there are a ton of other animals, including a bald eagle, bison, prairie dogs, and a bobcat. You can mine for gemstones, you can watch the blacksmith work, visit the general store, go fishing, bottle-feed baby goats, attend live cow milkings, go on a horse-drawn carriage ride, visit an old schoolhouse, go on a hike in the woods, visit the herb and vegetable garden, bring a picnic, and more. (Some of the attractions carry additional costs.) We went during their free admission hours (Mon-Th after 2pm as of this review). It was really busy, but everything is so spread out that it didn’t really feel congested. We loved it. We spent two hours there and didn’t want to leave, but we had to go. Definitely add this to your MUST VISIT list whether you live in the KC Metro area or are just passing through.

Much more than a petting farm. Honestly better than some zoos I've been to. 5 bucks per person for 12 acres of well taken care of gardens and animals of all sorts, as well as a recreation of barns and 1900s buildings. Fun for all ages, even if you just want a nice place to sit and relax. Come visit and teach/learn a bit about nature and history, you won't regret it!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. A cozy venue for family entertainment. We thoroughly enjoyed our recent visit for the fall season and all of the attractions the farmstead had to offer. So many activities for young children that were both educational and fun. We loved the little Downtown area with all the whimsical shops to explore, as well as the miniature log cabin by the playground. Perfect for meeting up with some friends and walking around for a few hours. Our toddler had a blast and the walking paths were easy to navigate with our stroller and newborn.

My grandsons (7 & 8) and I visited a couple of weeks ago. They enjoyed looking at the animals and birds and LOVED the mining and fishing. They also said eating ice cream, drinking Bublee and talking while sitting on the benches outside of the ice cream parlor was a favorite part of their visit. The grounds are well kept and the farm is a great size for spending a couple of hours in.

This was my first time at Deanna Rose Farm! I have always heard about it since I was a kid and wanted to go here. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They had many things to do it may not look like it at first, but you have to walk around more to see. The baby goats were friendly and easy to handle. The school house and other 1800’s structures reminded me of “Little House on the Prarie”and made me feel like I was back in time. Each staff member was very knowledgeable of everything. They had fishing, feeding baby goats, playgrounds, various animals. We got super lucky upon arriving and didn’t even have to pay to get in. Feeding baby goats cost $1 with bottles. Fishing cost $3.00. Bring coins if you want to feed any goat.

Had another visit to Deanna Rose Farmstead. Took my three grandchildren, ages 3-9. We had a blast. From the chickens, goats, and dairy cows.. and much more. We even stopped in for a movie that was very informative. We stopped into the barbershop and the Blacksmith area. Nicholas was the host for the blacksmiths presentation. He was very informative, knowledgeable, and held our attention. He kept the children engaged. Nicholas spoke at a pace the children could follow and understand. We enjoyed a cup of ice cream. The kiddos enjoyed feeding the baby goats and the park play area. It’s a summer time fun place to enjoy the animals up close and personal.

Country Club Plaza is a luxurious and premier destination in Kansas City, featuring Moorish-themed buildings that create a Spanish Seville atmosphere. It's a popular spot for wedding and engagement photography, with its beautiful architecture, landscaped grounds, and ornate details. The area is filled with high fashion shops, sweet-smelling flowers, quaint lamp posts, bronze sculptures, and glistening fountains. Visitors can enjoy walking through the outdoor mall while admiring the fountains and mosaics along the way.
I enjoy strolling through the plaza and admiring the architecture. It has such character. There is also an assortment of restaurants and shops. You can eat Italian at The Cheesecake Factory, BBQ at Jack Stacks, or get a healthy meal at Tru Foods. I eat at Tru Foods every time I visit for work. There are several other types of cuisine available, as well. Check out the Made in KC shop for drinks, coffee, jewelry, pottery, KC clothing, and more. A fun game for children could be to count the fountains. At Christmas, the entire plaza is lit up and it’s a treat to watch the lights come on around 4:45pm. You can also take a stroll along the River. It’s just a pleasant spot to visit.

Friends recommended here when I was visiting. I really wasn’t looking for high-end shopping but I enjoyed the statues, architecture and water fountains. (Kansas City is known as the "City of Fountains" and has more fountains than all other cities except Rome. Rome has over 2,000 public fountains, while Kansas City is believed to have more than 200. The city's fountains are a significant part of its culture and identity, with many located in parks, on boulevards,)

A great way to spend a few hours if you love Art! Definitely a must visit!

Overall good experience. Spend anywhere between 2-3 hours or most of the day if want. There is a lot to see. Entry is free to the public. Just check in at front desk for wristbands when enter. Parking was easy, but do have to pay $14 for parking. I recommend not bringing in any large bags or purses. You will be asked to wear it on your front the whole time if you do. Overall good free activity

The Nelson-Atkins Museum is an absolute dream for wedding portraits—and I’m lucky to shoot here frequently with couples and their wedding parties. The stunning architecture, clean lines, and iconic art installations create a backdrop that’s both timeless and uniquely Kansas City. From the classic columns of the museum’s exterior to the modern sculpture garden and beautiful outdoor spaces, every corner offers a different vibe and incredible photo opportunities. The natural light here is consistently gorgeous, and the architecture itself adds a level of sophistication and drama that elevates every image. The site also serves as an educational and cultural hub in Kansas City, featuring recreational areas and hosting environmental programs and events. Visitors can explore the network of nature trails that wind through rocky bluffs, bottomland paths, and expansive prairies filled with native grasses and wildflowers.
What a gorgeous place to visit. They have lots of different types of flowers and greenery. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our two favorite things of the Arboretum were: 1) The train gardens. What an absolute magnificent display of model trains with unique design of tracks near the ground level and also above your head. Keep your eyes peeled because there are two train displays. If you find the one train ticket booth turn around 180° and you’ll find the other one. 2) The views on a sunny day. The stone display leading up to the visitor center with the water flowing, and the sun lining off. It is a site to behold. Also a walk around the lake when the sun is out will instantly relax you And here’s a cheat code for people that like visiting arboretums… This one is part of the Arboretum reciprocal program. This means if you’ve bought a membership to another Arboretum inside the reciprocal program, you automatically get admission to Overland Park Arboretum as well.

Absolutely gorgeous walk through Garden areas. Plants and bushes and flowers all over they were absolutely stunning. You'll never want for a bench to sit down on is there's many throughout the entire Park area probably not more than 50 ft away from each other. The staff always seems busy pruning, shearing, and taken care of these beautiful plants and flowers. Peaceful and Serene and a wonderful place to go whether you have something else to do or not you owe it to yourself to stop by and see this.

Wasn't to bad. Nice place overall. I feel like they ought to charge more for entry and be more aggressive with expansion or growing exhibits. Sems like there is a lot of wasted space. Lots of "dead ends" that look like they lead to something but didn't follow through. I won't mention other places by name we've been to, but they have filled a lot of their spaces with beautiful arrangements and a bit more purposeful exhibits. I'm NOT a flowery type guy but my wife is and she kept mentioning the same thing. We'll be back but would love to see "more" growth!!

My wife are in town visiting KC from SC. We absolutely loved the Overland Park Arboretum today. I am a model train fan so it was really fun to see the Train Garden. The other gardens and trails were nice too. The staff was very friendly. The park was very clean and well maintained. Paths were very wide and easy to walk. I would highly recommend visiting the park.

I’ve been here many times with visitors from out of the area and also just on my own with family or friends. It does not disappoint. It seems there’s always something going on at Christmas time. The lights. In the summertime, lots of scheduled outdoor activities and movies and things for families. The new building just adds to the offering. All that and the flora and fauna!!!

It was hot and sunny for the middle of October however it worked out perfectly to visit the arboretum! I love flowers and butterflies, so I was completely enamored of the gardens. The monarch butterflies put on a spectacular show. There had to be hundreds throughout the whole garden acreage. My third favorite area was the water garden. I found a perfect spot that was in the shade and facing a monarch hotspot. The sound of the water feature and view was so perfect and peaceful. Last but not least! 4th favorite the train garden! Being over 50 it took me back in time quite a few years. Felt like a kid again. And the caboose that you can go in and exit out the back? The perfect touch. The volunteers and gardeners were absolute gems. Sharing ideas of where to walk and circling them on the map was above and beyond helpful at the information desk. A couple I observed admiring the Monet Garden who asked a gardener gal that was happy to share information with them on what a plant was. The sculpture garden and fairy houses were thought provoking and beyond cute. I am sure I didn't see everything with being mesmerized by the monarchs putting on a show along with cardinals birds chasing each other. I will be back!!

Terra Luna 2025 was such an amazing event! If you haven't had a chance to attend this event, I highly recommend it. This was the first year I attended. And it was so much more than I had imagined. The lazer lights were fantastic! And the performers and staff were outstanding. I will definitely be going back next year.

A wonderful place to visit during all 4 seasons of the year. Even when flowers are not in bloom, trails await those who love to walk among the trees, view birds at their feeders and walk on trails off of the beaten path. You almost forget that you are on the edges of a metropolitan area yet 10 minutes away from shopping and restaurants. I go here to retreat from adulting.

Liberty Jail

Sights & Landmarks
The Liberty Jail Historic Site in Liberty, MO is a reconstruction of the original Clay County Jail where Joseph Smith, the Mormon Prophet, was imprisoned for five months. Sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it showcases the LDS Church's impact on the area's social and religious history. The exhibit includes information about how the walls were constructed and offers informative tours conducted by friendly senior missionaries.
For those interested in the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, this is a great place to visit! The missionaries are well prepared and help paint the events wonderfully.

We arrived about a half hour before closing time and the brother and sister that were volunteering did a very nice job of giving us a tour and making sure that we got all the right information during the tour. Well worth the visit. I'm glad we went. Grateful for all of the people that did things to preserve this type of History.
Ryan A — Google review
Liberty Jail is a historic site and has been in Clay County since the 1800s. The jail was recreated using actual measurements & building materials from the original jail infrastructure. LOTS of information on the Mormon War of 1838. Free to visit, free parking and includes a guided tour. This is a special place and has a warmth to it that you wouldn't expect a JAIL to have. If you have pioneer heritage, love local history, or just are curious about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints beliefs then I'd strongly suggest giving this place a visit.

Great story. Can really feel the spirit. I am grateful the church purchased this site and made it so that anyone can experience this.

Our missionary tour guide was amazing. Our group wasn’t too big and we felt like we got to see everything we wanted to.

Excellent tour! Very informative! Even though it is a jail where a lot of suffering took place, the tour is inspiring and uplifting!

It has a solum feel to it. Go with the understanding that it is about how some of the leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ were encarserated in deplorable conditions through the winter of 1838-1839.

Very much of a Mormon establishment run by Mormons. Its like going to a Mormon church. Don't go here if you're no open minded to Mormon

This place is amazing! I've been coming here monthly for reiki massage and I always leave feeling balanced and grateful. Mary is a blessing to Liberty. She knows exactly where healing is needed and offers affirmations at the end of each visit. I strongly encourage anyone who is feeling karmatically or residually off to pay her a visit.

Cold & Unfeeling. Last year I purchased a package of classes from Serenity. Unfortunately right after the purchase I found out I had to have a 3rd major surgery (had 2 the year before). Then life really happened. My dad (lives in another state) suffered a life threatening health emergency which ended up causing me to move him to assisted living. Then my sister unexpectedly passed away. Recently I received a notice from Serenity that my package was about to expire. I went to the facility and asked for an extension and one of the ladies there was very nice and offered to extend them 2 months. I told her I thought I could use them up in a month. Unfortunately, again unexpectedly, I had to let my much loved Chihuahua go to advanced cancer. I had sent an email to the facility to explain what happened and could they actually give me the 2nd month but if they could not I would understand. Dead silence, no response. Thinking the email got lost, I called. The person I spoke to was not willing to discuss anything other than what their policy was and she would grudgingly give me an extension of 2 more weeks. Which was something but the thing that really bothers me was the fact that when I told her that I had recently had a death in the family all I got was radio silence. Absolutely nothing, not a I am sorry to hear that but we can’t extend your package again. No compassion, no empathy, no nothing. It’s not about the money it’s about the lack of humanity, so I would not recommend Serenity.

The staff at Serenity On The Square are so friendly--They feel like family. The location on the historic downtown Liberty is charming. Carla, my massage therapist, was very attentive to my needs. The massage was absolutely fantastic. I left feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, which was exactly what I was hoping for. I’ve already scheduled my next appointment.

This place is gorgeous! We drove up from Austin, Texas and had the whole farm to ourselves in the fall! It was already on my mind to propose... and when the sunset was beautiful, and all the stars aligned I did! Anyone thinking about coming in the fall- do it! You will not be disappointed! The employees are superb and welcoming! The food and products and of course, ciders are all unbelievably tasty! Come check them out!

My family and I have been here many times over the years when we used to live in the area. We were in town visiting family and made a stop at the store today. We bought a dozen cider donuts and many other items. My husband enjoyed sampling the new hard ciders and all the employees were very friendly!
Wendy W — Google review
We had a great time at the Louisburg Cider mill! It was our son's first grade field trip! We got to take a tractor ride to the farm & go explore! The kids had a blast in the corn pit! The pumpkins were huge all through the patch! The haybale mountain was fun & the tire swing. The corn maze definitely got us lost, but we had a fun time! Just tons of activities for everyone. Fun day!

Donuts were very scrumptious. Additionally their microbrewed sodas were very good and made with real sugar cane. They had many other treats and trinkets to get but I was very happy with my selection and will be going back.

Literally some of the BEST cider I have ever had. The lovely people at the front desk let me taste test some of the ciders and I found I prefer the pear over some of the more popular ones!! So sweet and fresh, will be back!!!

So yummy. Apple an Peach wine are so good. Cider donuts the best. Shopped an got all kinds a goodies.
Tina V — Google review
My husband took me for my birthday for donuts and a slush. About halfway there I made an off-hand comment that it might be ciderfest season. We used to go as kids, his family didn't. We aren't really "fest/fair" kind of people. It was. We agreed to park, buy our donuts and slush and then eat in the car or head another 20 minutes south to my cousins house. We found better than expected parking and walked to the store when suddenly I got a whiff of the most awful smell. I am on a chemo drug and highly sensitive to smells and wretched and dry heaved the entire walk to the store. The line moved quickly and the donuts were good but not hot like I remembered from years past. I stuck my nose in the bag on the way back to the car and it made it more bearable. I told my husband I never had encountered that smell before and he pointed out on other trips we always parked in front of the store. Lesson learned. Because we are not "fest" people we will check the calendar next time and come during a more "off season" when the crowds are smaller and we don't have to walk past the lagoon thing. Friendly service, outstanding cider, parking wasn't nearly as bad as it looked, the store checkout was a well-oiled machine. VERY efficient.
Kristi S — Google review
It has many interesting things for sale, a nice place to sit and enjoy yummy doughnuts and hot cider. But be ready to walk, as this place is very popular and parking can be difficult and there is a long line to buy things, but well worth it. Prices are a bit high on some things but reasonable prices on others. No shortage in yummy items to look at.

Kauffman Stadium

Stadium
Sights & Landmarks
Kauffman Stadium, also known as The K, is a legendary pro-baseball complex in Kansas City. Built in 1973, it offers more than just baseball games with stunning views of the City of Fountains and Midwest landscapes. Visitors can enjoy hometown refreshments from Boulevard Brewing Company and Belfontes Ice Cream, as well as AZ Canteen by celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern. The stadium is a beloved landmark where sports enthusiasts can catch exhilarating baseball games and create lasting memories.
Wanted to go here for some time. Finally got here and it didn’t disappoint. It’s beautiful! The fountains are so sweet. Definitely an under appreciated stadium. I’ve been to Busch and Wrigley, this is just as good if not better. A shout out to the workers, they were all pleasant, friendly, and welcoming. I’ve never felt so welcomed to a game. I thought prices for food were reasonable also, they have a value menu with several places throughout the stadium. All in all, we will be back! Royals won!
Joshua S — Google review
I’m on a mission to visit every MLB stadium, and Kauffman was number 12 for me. For being 50+ years old, I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this ballpark is! We went with my son’s baseball team and a group of about 40 people on an extremely hot day (94° at first pitch), but it was still a fantastic experience. Every seat in the stadium is angled perfectly toward the field since it was built specifically for baseball—not a converted football stadium. The famous outfield fountains are truly impressive and something everyone should see in person. The family environment here is outstanding. The Little K area has batting cages, pitching radars, 40-yard dash timers, mini golf, and even a carousel. There’s also a kids’ team store and a concession stand with a fun kids’ meal in a collectible lunch box—perfect for keeping little ones entertained during the game. I also loved the many first-come, first-serve areas to watch from. On a lighter crowd day (around 15,000 fans when we went), it was easy to move around and enjoy different vantage points. Food options were excellent too, with everything from local BBQ to classic ballpark must-haves. Overall, I’d rank Kauffman as one of the top stadiums I’ve visited so far. It’s family-friendly, full of character, and much nicer than I expected given its age. Definitely worth the trip!
Brent J — Google review
Very nice stadium! We are making our way through all 30 MLB Stadiums, and this one has a lot to offer compared to others. Reasonable prices, lots of space to move around and sit and enjoy drinks and/or food, and the fountains make it really unique. The staff were all very friendly as well.
Laura S — Google review
We are trying to visit every MLB stadium. Thisnis our 5th stadium and we were very happy with it. 1st everyone and I mean EVERYONE was the most friendliest people I have met. We saw 2 games here. The 1st was in thr Lexas all you can eat seats and had thr best hot dogs in a park yet. The popcorn was great and buttery. The food options were great. The only negative is the seats are quite tight. Im only 5'9 and my knees were in the seat in front of me. The second game we got upper deck seats and we ate off the value menu. The hot dogs and pretzels were descent price. The stadium is beautiful and both views were great. The fountains are very pretty. If we are ever out that way again we already said we will be stopping by for another game. Oh and bonus was fireworks we didnt even know were happening after the game.
Heather C — Google review
What a beautiful stadium with amazing views! Walking from the parking lot to the entrance, we saw many people tailgating which I didn't expect with baseball games. We had checked the bag policy ahead of time so we were prepared but there was a woman in front of us whose purse was too large for entry. She tried to argue that she was just at Busch Stadium (STL) the night before, but they were firm with their bag policy. We tried the loaded nachos, which were amazing and huge so two of us shared an order. The staff were incredible with our group since we arrived early and needed some guidance to orient ourselves. I love the fountains in the stadium and how they manipulate both the flow and the colors of the water. Great space for a baseball game!
Brianne S — Google review
There's absolutely NO reason to replace this wonderful baseball stadium. The sightlines are good, there are very few seats where your view is obstructed, and the Event Staff is second to none! Park early and tailgate, then bring in any food items in a clear bag, along with sealed water bottles. Guest Services team is especially accommodating. Go Royals!
Jim B — Google review
Home run derby was cool, tix were only like $25 and it was a different vibe of course and the stadium didn't sell a ton of tix, just select seats and it was a fun atmosphere. Fireworks afterward so it was a fun evening. Not all the vendors were open but it was enough to handle the crowd.
Anita S — Google review
This place is pretty much our second home in the summertime. It is what kept our sanity as new parents. We absolutely love Kauffman because of how family friendly it is (park, rides, mini golf, splash pad, mother's room) and there's even a very affordable concession in the kids area that has chicken nuggets and $5 beers. We purchase the cheap nose bleed seats up top and just walk around the stadium with our stroller and the kids. There are so many places available to view the game.

This was a really good experience for my son. He liked it for the most part. He developed really good here aswell. The part that let us down a bit was on the last day they dumped water on his head and left some grass in his locs. I could tell he cried because of tear drops in the corner of his eyes. He told me he had a bad day then said it was an ok day. I talked to the principal about it. I could tell she wanted to come off as caring but at the same time it was the last day!!! Really wanted to give more stars.

A creek meanders through this wooded park offering camping, hiking, riding, fishing & boating.
Great trails at Knob Noster State Park. There's like 8 trails, most under 2 miles. Very clean. The bathrooms are clean, portable potty like. Plenty of parking. We hiked the Hawk Nest Trail. ( follow main road , turn left to Buteo Lake -across from campground). The trail was nice. Mix of flat ground and hills ( pay attention to rocks and roots)

I stopped specifically to walk the Clearfork Woodland Trail with an extension along the Hawk Nest Trail to Buteo Lake. After four days of travelling to ten different Missouri State Parks and Historic Sites, I was ready for a shorter walk and this filled the bill. If I had more time, I would have taken the Buteo Trail around the lake - it looked like it would be a pretty one.

We love our local state park. Our rangers are helpful and knowledgeable. If you’re looking for some beautiful trails or a place to camp look no further.

Camping in Knob Noster is always fun as long as wildlife doesn't scare you as they love to join you!! I have been an avid camper since I was in diapers and still love it and Knob is one of the ones I camp regularly!! Only complaint I have is that they need a bathroom and shower house in the tent camping area instead of having to walk a mile everytime you have to use it!!! Other than that it is close to several towns for supplies and gas and it is well monitored!!!

Newly updated park with great clean trails. It seems that more than half of the sites have been updated to have nice wide/flared entrances. There is a small playground, a fenced in basketball court and a place to rent kayaks.

We stopped here to rest and make lunch. The entire grounds were absolutely clean. The visitor center had a lot of local history and lore. This is a must visit place. Very nice campgrounds too with all hookups as needed, electric, water and sewer. Tent sites too.

I usually ride my bike on Opossum trail but that was closed so I tried this trail and I'm glad I did. 6 miles out and back. Turns around at an air force gate and goes through the Royal Oaks golf course. Real nice alternative for biking when Opossum is closed
Alexander D — Google review
I drove out to knob noster State Park, to be able to hike the possum trail that they have there. It's a little over 5. Mi takes about 2 hours and some change to complete it. During my hike. I did see quite a few deer out there, even a couple snails. This was a dog friendly Park. As long as your dogs were on leashes, they do offer mountain biking trails but due to the wet conditions it was closed to mountain bikers today. The trail did offer a few shortcuts that would shorten the trail by quite a bit of a mount if you just wanted to get out and stretch your legs up. Once I was able to get further into the trail I did notice there was some glass that had been broken. Looked like It had been there a while but just be careful with your fur babies. If you're taking them out there maybe get them some protective for their pads. I did pick up what I could of it. This was about an hour drive from the Kansas City, Kansas side. It's well worth it just to be able to get out and experience some nature. I would definitely hike this trail again. There were some campsites that were offered as well. Unfortunately, I don't have much information on those, but it was an extremely quiet Park. There were no fireworks allowed signs, so if you decide to drive out there, it is very peaceful.

October 2022 Fall Color is here!! October 20, 2021: Just spent a couple of days fishing. Caught a few white bass . The Fall color is starting to emerge. Original post: We really like Truman Lake. The lake is muddier than Table Rock, Stockton, or Pomme de Terre, which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. We currently have a camper and boat on permanent sights at Truman. We enjoy the great fishing and beautiful scenery. Truman is a better lake for fishing, rather than skiing and tubing, but you will see all happening during the summer. The views of the bluffs from the lake is absolutely beautiful. Be on the lookout for Eagles in the trees near the water. They are abundant. In Fall, the leaves turning colors is worth the gas and boat ride around the lake. MUCH prettier than from the highways! While there, be sure to check out the Truman Visitors Center. Great history and views there also.

So much to see & do. Fanstastic fishing! Small town super friendly people. Antique & flea stores.. great dinning in Warsaw. Check out the Landing restaurant, their deck, craft beers & good wine selection. Walk Drake Harbors paths.. or fish a floating dock. Check out the swinging bridge on Hwy 7 at the Dam restaurant. Let's start with our stay, TERRIBLE!! Our room was filled with flies. My husband was up killing them the entire time we were in the room. We went to lay down to go to sleep and the bed was not comfortable at all. We were scheduled to stay for 3 days and they charged my credit card right away but ended up having to go home on the 2nd day. We could not get a refund for our 3rd day. Will never stay again
