Nature & Wildlife Areas
Konza Prairie Biological Station is a stunning preserve that showcases the native tallgrass prairie ecosystem. It also functions as a research center and offers public hiking trails for visitors to explore the beautiful Flint Hills landscape. The well-maintained trails provide incredible views, making it an enjoyable experience for hikers. With options for small, medium, and long loops, ranging from 2.5 to 6 miles, there's something for everyone.
I did the Godwin Hill Loop. The weather was great - not too hot and there was a breeze. Not much shade after the Nature Trail so bring sun protection. Watch out for poison ivy, especially in riparian areas. Binoculars might be nice. Also go to the KState website for commentary on each stop on the Nature Trail. Overall great hike.

Great trail with some beautiful views, they maintain it meticulously and everything is clearly marked
Gabe D — Google review
I would highly recommend going in the early morning when they allowed access to the station. At 7 am, really peaceful and beautiful scenery not over crowded multiple routes to take
Brennin C — Google review
This is a great trail. There is a small, medium, and long loop. 2.5 miles for the smalls, 4.4 miles for the medium, and 6.0 miles for the long. There is plenty of parking. There are no dogs allowed. I recommend boots because the trail can get muddy. It has some beautiful views and is very windy. There also plenty of animals you’ll most likely encounter along the way like deer and turkey. I recommend going to the bathroom before hiking because there are only 2 bathrooms on the trail. They are both very close to the beginning of the trail.
M L — Google review
We had a great time. The views were amazing and the trail was well kept. We got there just as some soldiers were finishing PT and the trail was pretty clear of other hikers. We took the shorter trail due to have three children with us, and it was a great choice.
D B — Google review
Not only a first-class example of long-term research and conservation, but also a great place for a hike! But do NOT bring your dog, please! If people keep ignoring the rules and bringing dogs they will have to close access to preserve the research and we’ll all lose out. If you come, make sure you hike to the lookout spot, it’s an amazing view of tallgrass and gallery forests. Worth the trip down McDowell Creek road, for sure.
Ryan A — Google review
This is one of my favorite hikes. there are no dogs aloud which may be inconvenient but at least you don't have to worry about stepping in dog droppings. There is also a suggested two dollar donation, for maintenance. Never seen any trash so I believe it's worth it also many butterflies and animals
Tony L — Google review
Beautiful views and nicely marked trails. This is a hiking only trail so no bikes or pets allowed because it is a biological station. This also means you need to remain on the trails as the land surrounding it is protected. I would highly recommend going early when it opens at 6 am if you want to beat the family groups.

Sunset Zoo

Mentioned on

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Sunset Zoo is a smaller zoo that offers educational opportunities to children, such as kids' classes, day camps, overnight camping, and off-site visits from animals. The zoo has undergone recent construction which has resulted in the creation of more open enclosures for animals. Visitors can easily appreciate the exhibits on display within an hour-long walk through the zoo. Sunset Zoo rents out strollers or wagons and sells cold drinks for visitors' convenience.
For the size, the location and price it’s great! Plus they have red pandas! It was a mod day visit and “warm”, most of the animals were out and napping which was cute. But I got to see them. The zoo was easy to navigate and found a coffee spot in the park to get a fresh cup. Was nice to keep my hands warm. Paths are big enough and wide enough for groups and the signage was easy to read.
Joan R — Google review
We love going to this zoo! It is spread out enough that you can take your time and not feel like you are rushing through to allow others to visit each animal as well. They also have several more private observation areas where you can sit on benches and slow down and watch! The crew there does a great job of keeping the facility clean, and we constantly see zookeepers in the habitats working with the flora, fauna, and animals to maintain their needs. It is not a huge zoo where you need to plan a whole day to go through, but an afternoon visit is perfect!
Ashlee B — Google review
Small town zoo, so it doesn’t have a ton of animals but it was with the $6/ticket! Nice walking path, clean park. They had a penny machine! So that made it really worth it! Bathrooms were clean.
Megan Y — Google review
Visited Sunset Zoo today, quite the experience, I felt very at ease and peace walking around the animal exhibits. The zoo itself is so clean and very well taken care off. Some animals were not available due to cold weather so we look forward returning even maybe volunteering. We loved it. A place of education and kid fun. The views are spectacular. I highly recommended bring your kids and family for a day of fun and knowledge.
YAZMIN C — Google review
It's a small zoo but really nice considering the size of city that it's in. Facilities are all clean and kept up. Animal enclosures are in good condition. They do a great job considering their size and budget. It was fun getting to come back here for the first time in 20+ years and see some of the changes that have taken place as well as show my son something I enjoyed as a kid.
Alex S — Google review
I enjoyed my time at this zoo. It isn't very large but it is easy to walk, the landscaping is pretty, and the animals are easy to view. One of the pelicans was playing with a pair of sticks which was interesting to watch and the gibbons were very playful with one another on the day I visited. We paid to feed the tortoise and my daughter loved it. My only complaints are water availability and the amount of shade in the enclosures. My daughter was thirsty but the two vending machines we found were out of stock, one water fountain was out of order, and the gift shop had a full refrigerator with every drink but water. We eventually found a working water fountain. A number of animals were up against the glass which made for great viewing but the reason it happened was because it was the spot with the most shade at that time of day so I'd love to see more shady areas provided for them. I'll still definitely make another visit as we enjoyed the zoo overall a lot.
Maryann B — Google review
Cool little zoo in the little apple. It is great for the price. The whole zoo takes approximately 2.5 hours to get through and costs $6 per adult. There is plenty of parking and there is food in the zoo. The exhibits focus most on Asian and Australian animals. Highlights of the trip are the monkeys and sloth bear.
M L — Google review
It was great! A lot of interesting animals. I noticed a lot of the animals needed water because it was sooo hot outside. Some exhibits are closed, like the entire main building. Navigating the zoo was also somewhat difficult. But so fun overall!

It's always so beautiful any time of year! Lovely place to find peace or have a family photo session!
Kristen B — Google review
Always beautiful, peaceful, and therapeutic! I think Anne Shirley (of Avonlea fame) would say that the paths and benches and flowers and shade and fountains = a place with "so much scope for the imagination!" 💜 It's a wonderful place to wander or sit. Great to visit with friends or enjoy a moment of solitude. Currently Tulips are fading out and Peonies & Irises are budding and beginning to bloom
Anna B — Google review
Beautiful flowers, fountains were amazing, butterflies were so fun to watch and the insect zoo was very cool. Might have been my favorite part of the campus.
Kristina B — Google review
Oh my good heavens! This is absolutely hands down the most beautiful place I've seen in my life. They do a really great job of curating the flowers especially this time of year the iris and the peonies. Absolutely drop dead gorgeous! And each set has name plates so you can tell what they are just in case you want some of your own. Last month the Tulips looked equally as impressive and I hear June is for lilies with Rose's later in the summer. There's usually plenty of parking and you can take your time. There is some construction as they're building a new water feature, but it doesn't really interfere. Plus it's free, so what's better than that?
Susan ( — Google review
The K-State Gardens are a beautifully maintained mix of themed areas, showcasing both native Kansas plants and unique ornamental varieties. It’s peaceful and educational, with labeled displays that make it easy to learn while you stroll. A great spot for photography, quiet walks, or simply enjoying nature in Manhattan.
Mohammad A — Google review
Been here a few times, once with my wife years agobfor a photo shoot, then back eith my son to take more pictures!!! Such a beautiful place full of butterflies if you get there in season!!!! Highly recommend
Bryan P — Google review
May is the perfect time to see the irises and peonies in full bloom! I also enjoy seeing the gorgeous crapemyrtles in bloom later in the summer. If you need ideas for your garden, this is the place to go as the plants are tagged with the plant names and varieties. Plan on spending at least an hour as there is a lot to see!

Zoo
The K-State Insect Zoo is a converted barn located on the K-State campus that houses educational insect exhibits. It offers guided tours by appointment, and the zookeepers put tireless effort into keeping each creature healthy and happy. The facility is ideal for bug enthusiasts and has potential to help those with arachnophobia overcome their fears. Visitors can also enjoy a unique gift shop featuring items from one of the best tarantula breeders around.
A very fun insect zoo with interactive exhibits and unique enclosures! They have a large variety of species, and the interactive kitchen exhibit was great for kids. The water exhibit at the entrance was absolutely beautiful! This is a great spot to take your kids on a mini museum day.
Sierra K — Google review
The staff here was amazing and so knowledgeable! Very educational and the collection was amazing. Though it is a small building, they have sections that allow you to breathe and take in all of the wonderful specimens. My family truly enjoyed our visit and then after we made our way through the adjoining KState botanical gardens to see the new fountain and watch the bees bumble. Amazing quick afternoon trip!
Ashlee B — Google review
This was a great experience! It’s a beautiful building which has history in its self. We spent about an hour and 30 minutes here, saw a lot of insects. The girl working in here was very friendly and informed. The cutter ant exhibit was cool to watch this is interesting for kids and adults. The gardens outside are beautiful and everything is labeled.
Vicki H — Google review
This was awesome my kids absolutely had fun!!! They love bugs .
Tiffany S — Google review
SOOO cool! Would be amazing to bring little kids too! I had a little bit older crowd so we ran right through the whole thing- but you could tell the toddlers that were there really enjoyed themselves!! We did have to wait outside before they had enough room though- So I would recommend going and checking in first, and if you must wait wander around the garden WHICH IS GORGEOUS!!
Aubrey P — Google review
Very cool place and only $3/person. The kids loved it but was really interesting for adults too!
Kristina B — Google review
This is such a cool place! It's not a large building, but they've fit some very interesting specimens throughout. There's a neat interactive household pest exhibit, a table for kids to learn the lifestyles of several types of insects, and a microscope that projects on a larger screen. The leafcutter ant and honeybee setups are super cool. The woman at the counter was also very friendly. For $2.99 per person, you can't beat the price.
Maryann B — Google review
Fantastic little zoo full of insects, spiders, and scorpions. The stick bugs are super cool in their habitats that highlight how well they camouflage themselves. When we went, they put a bunch of leaves in the ant habitat and it’s AMAZING how quickly the ants cut those up and take them to the nest.

Flint Hills Discovery Center

Children's museum
The Flint Hills Discovery Center is situated in an eco-friendly structure and offers visitors an opportunity to explore the cultural history and natural ecosystem of the area. The center boasts a range of enriching activities for all ages, including exciting experiences such as the Auctioneer and 4D stations. It is clear that a lot of thought and effort went into designing this facility to promote conservation efforts in the Flint Hills region.
We weren't sure it would be age-appropriate for our infant & toddlers, but they LOVED it. I'm so glad we decided to stop by, as the second floor is kid-centered and has plenty of high-quality activities and interactives to keep children of different ages engaged. We spent about an hour here, but could have stayed longer. The entire facility is very clean and exhibits are well-maintained. We were here on a weekday morning and it was not crowded.
Gillian A — Google review
My family is obsessed with the Discovery Center! So filled with various experiences, we have now seen four of their specialty exhibits and each one was interactive, fun, and soooo informative. My kiddos (13 and twins 8) have spent countless hours exploring and we always find something we missed the last time, even in the permanent exhibits. I highly recommend this museum, it is our favorite rainy day location!
Ashlee B — Google review
It's a nice place w/friendly staff. I was a bit underwhelmed by the "great dinosaur area." Our 4yr old granddaughter loved this place! They did have a few cool play areas for kids.
Elicia C — Google review
First of all, I would like to personally thank Director, Susan Adams for providing me with a lot of helpful information prior to my visit. I’ve wanted to visit The Flint Hills Discovery Center for a number of years, and I’m SO glad that I’ve finally been able to! There’s a film in a small theater that provides guests with a historical background about The Flint Hills. The exhibits are VERY hands on, and are all about the preservation and culture of The Flint Hills. It’s a VERY serene and calming environment, as are The Flint Hills. This would be a great place to bring a group of students on a field trip, and there’s a lot of fun activity sheets for them to engage in. I would also point out that this can also serve as a community center because there’s several rooms available to hold any kind of event. The kids have a great deal of fun on the second level in The Prairie Playscape. If you go up to the third level, that takes you outside to where you have amazing views of The City of Manhattan. On the first level, as soon as you enter, is a gift shop with all sorts of unique Kansas products. The staff are VERY friendly, knowledgeable and can assist you with ALL things Manhattan.
Bailey O — Google review
This place saved my sanity with two little ones. They have wonderful programs such as nature together for children 18 months to 3 years, and preschoolers in the flint hills for kids 3 and up. The staff got to know us after being here for so long and felt like family. Membership is definitely worth it! Exhibits change frequently and kids are always engaged with the new sights to see.
J L — Google review
We had a great time here with our kids age 4 and 2. They loved the area on the second floor with all the interactive play stuff for kids. They even liked walking around the rooftop garden on the third floor and going down the stairs to see more flowers. It was all clean and well kept.
Jade E — Google review
A must visit for all ages! The exhibits are well done and informative on the history of the prairie. The movie is amazing with great visuals and special effects. For us the highlight was the pollinator gardens surrounding the building! Make sure you go up to the 3rd floor for the view and then take the stairs down around the outside to read all about the native plants and see the bees and butterflies at work!
Teresa — Google review
I enjoyed the flint hills festival. The movie at the discovery center was amazing. If you have never been it is a must. They have summer camps he that my kids just love. They go on field trips here in town to places I've never been. Every day was like an adventure for the kids.

Historic Sites
We stopped while traveling to stretch our legs on the walking path along the water. This historic site was in front of the parking area for walking. It was an interesting site that we weren't expecting. I don't think it was open that day, and I'm not certain it's a place you can enter. The buildings were nice to see, as well as the information posted near them, on the signs I shared here in my photos.
Elicia C — Google review
We visited the Kaw Mission State Historic Site on July 31, 2025, and absolutely loved it. The site offers a fascinating look at the history of the Kaw (Kanza) people and early Kansas settlement, with well-curated exhibits and peaceful grounds. The museum attendant was exceptionally helpful and friendly, answering our questions and sharing insights that brought the stories to life. If you’re passing through Council Grove, KS, this is an excellent stop—educational, memorable, and well worth the time. Highly recommend!
Jeovano L — Google review
It's a little place that is rich with American history. It's not exciting, and I wouldn't recommend bringing children to visit as there is not much for them to do but run around on the lawn. It's great if you are interested in Native American history and how the natives were actually treated. Overall I felt a sense of sadness when visiting this place and reading the signs around the yard.
Dayna C — Google review
As of 2019, it was bring renovated to become an official Santa Fe Trail museum.

A very fascinating museum. Very well done covering all aspects of native people groups thru the Santa Fe trail. RUN don't WALK to visit this gem!

This is a very good museum with information on the native peoples and the history of American/native interaction. There's also good displays on the Santa Fe trail. It's all well presented and well worth a visit.

The OZ Museum in Wamego, Kansas is a tribute to all things 'Wizard of Oz', celebrating the original book, the iconic 1939 movie, and even the Michael Jackson remake. The museum features exhibits dedicated to the books, movies, board games, souvenirs, and more related to the Land of Oz. Opened in 2003 to house collector Todd Machin's Oz artifacts for just five years, it has become a must-visit attraction for fans of L.
Wonderful experience! Fascinating and presented so well. The guy who talked before we went in was great too. Very clean and lots of neat items from the books and the 1939 film and other versions as well.
Gary J — Google review
Fun roadside type attraction (in town). Good historical content from the various movies and you can sit and watch the entire movie in their movie theater if you have the time. Gift shop is cute and even has a wind tunnel to experience tornado winds. A bit expensive for a whole family to visit but worth the stop for a one time visit.
Alicia J — Google review
Great staff. Wide selection of Oz items on display & a great selection of merch to pick from. We love to get the souvenir penny any chance we see a machine, they had one. They also have the coin holder for the smashed pennies. Good stop. We spent about 20-30 minutes here stretching our legs but you could easily stay over an hour. We take photos of the signs and read them when we get to where we’re headed so we breezed through quickly.

Made an 8 hour drive to visit Kansas and this was on our to do list. Admission was only $10 per person and you can go at your own pace. A lot of replicas but a fun experience and loved all the facts throughout. A lot of photo opportunities throughout as well. Nice little gift shop attached and the lady at the counter was super friendly. After this we followed the yellow brick road and found all the Toto’s in Wamego. Cute town and enjoyed the museum.
Rose G — Google review
This place was great! It had lots of scenes with all the characters and movie items. It had a theater playing the Wizard of Oz continuously. Also a hot air balloon basket you can go in for pictures. And don't forget the gift shop! It has a tornado machine that you can go in that simulates a real tornado! Well worth the $10!!!!!!
Sharon B — Google review
There is room to park anything within a two block radius of the museum. So don't worry if you're in your RV, stop by! G is a super fan of Oz. He really enjoyed himself! Well worth the money to get in.

Loved it. Our girls saw ‘Wicked’ recently and our 4 year old is really into wizard of oz. We may even dress like it for Halloween. What a wonderful place they’ve created in Wamego, Kansas! Currently there’s an online ticket promotion we were able to access and didn’t cost us but 10 dollars for the 4 of us. Workers here obviously love their job and know ALOT about the history and the original movie. I’m sure we’ll be back. If you haven’t made the trek and you’re a local, you HAVE to check it out!
Jordan G — Google review
If you are a Wizard of Oz fan, and you are near Wemango Kansas, this is a must see! They have over 2000 items on display, documentaries playing and even the movie itself. Plus of course a gift shop with many different things to purchase. Well worth the $10 adult admission fee.

Located in Kansas, Oz Winery is a vibrant and welcoming attraction that has been producing table wines since 2007. The winery's annual production of five thousand gallons features grapes grown under the Kansas sun. Husband and wife team Brooke Balderson and Noah Wright are the creative minds behind the winery, with Brooke bringing her culinary expertise to their Private Wine Tasting Parties. Visitors can enjoy daily tastings of their diverse selection of wines, each creatively named after elements from the famous movie.
We visited oz winery after touring the oz museum. Lovely atmosphere, reasonable price, and local wines. Also, “Mary” made our time there so much better! She was very knowledgeable, passionate and wonderful. She provided us the details of the wine, history of the place and the Wamego town, fun stories, complimentary stuff, and etc. This will be a great stop by if you go see the museum or the town!
Linda J — Google review
We enjoyed our visit to the Oz Winery. Flights of wine are moderately priced 3 x 2oz for $10 and 5 x 2oz for $15. Plus 2 free 1 oz samples. They have food items (cheese, salami, crackers, and chocolates) on site as well as jams and honey. Our server, Deb, was sweet and helpful.
Victoria R — Google review
We stopped by the OZ Museum and enjoyed a wine tasting experience. The staff were friendly and attentive, and they gave us a great explanation about Kansas wines. Thank you!
JAY H — Google review
We love this place. It’s always clean and the staff are always so friendly. Great wine tastings, packaged snacks (cheese, crackers, chocolates), and a comfortable space to relax. If we are driving through KS, we intentionally stop in Wamego to visit Oz Winery (even if the stop is just for 20 minutes to visit the winery) and we always leave with at least one or two bottles of wine. We’ll be back!
Alicia A — Google review
Had an Oz-some time at the winery yesterday! I loved the Oz theme and the wine was great. The wine and souvenirs were both reasonably priced and it was hard to choose! Sue and the other workers went above and beyond and made it a FANTASTIC. I will most definitely be back.
Melissa — Google review
Very friendly man greeted us. Dog friendly if your dog can behave. Tried some wine. Bought some wine. It's very cool that it's Oz related. Stop in you won't regret it.
Kimberly T — Google review
We had a great visit with Sue, and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Loved the selection of wines. Being only about an hour away, we definitely have added another stop on our travels.
Joe B — Google review
The place is perfect going of a theme of the wizard of OZ all there bottles have a unique name/label based of it like Squished Witch. They are all different types of table wines not aged they all still have a unique delicious taste. They have a free limited tasting perfect for me as we came into town as a day trip. Seems like it would also be a fun place to just sit and have a glass with maybe some of there artisan cheese or chocolate. Bottle prices are reasonable with the quality of the blend and the creative oz theme. If I’m ever back in town will be back though definitely at some point will order online from this local small business.

Wamego City Park is a charming destination for a leisurely stroll, a delightful family picnic, or simply basking in the peaceful surroundings. The park offers playgrounds for children, ample picnic spots, and expansive green areas to relax. It's also an ideal venue for local events and community gatherings. This picturesque city park in Kansas boasts an array of attractions including an Olympic-sized swimming pool, an 1879 Dutch mill, a historical museum and village.
As my wife and I traveled across country, we just happened upon Wamego Kansas. We probably spent two to three hours in town walking and admiring. Wamego City Park was one on the areas we spent the most time in. It is a beautiful park with a pond, an old Dutch Windmill, a museum, and several other quaint areas to explore. The perfect place for a family picnic, or to just spend an afternoon in the tranquil peace and quiet. We loved the small little town in rural Kansas.

A beautiful park! We visited during the Wamego Tulip Festival and had a great time, and took some great pictures. We will visit again.

BEAUTIFUL little gem of a park! Love to come here on my break while I'm out here delivering packages for Amazon! The little train that runs through here is so neat too! Very nice! ❤️❤️❤️

A nice park, though the playground is pretty big. So it can be a little tough to keep track of your kiddos of you have a few, or more. Especially when there are a lot of other kids there, which happens somewhat often. Pretty little pond, and a fun little train for the kids to ride on, when it's running, which definitely isn't all the time.
Jason B — Google review
This a very beautiful little park. Stopped there on our way home and had a great walk around it. The pond is very clean with some cool critters and it really adds to the scenery. The park is also very clean and awesome, the tall trees are gorgeous.

Definitely a place to come back without the Tulip festival crowd. And Definitely not worth the visit for the tulip festival. I was under the impression the festival was going to have more tulips involved, but that was not the case. Anywyas 5 stars because I'll be Definitely be coming back, to have my girls run around. The playgrounds are amazing and its equipped for ALL ages. Worth the 45 mins. Drive from JC

Looks like a very nice park. It even has a little kiddie train that children can ride on tracks that go around the eastern section of the park. It's playground is also very green to go for that Emerald City vibe and there’s an aquatic center to the south. Pretty cool.

Alma Creamery

Super nice even had a tray of fresh cheese curds that had different sprinkles that you could’ve chose and everything else had a wide variety of meats cheeses spreads all of it and the staff was friendly. The atmosphere is good. Plenty of parking easy on and off the freeway, couldn’t ask for much more.
Serena B — Google review
It’s a cheese store attached to the gas station, not really the creamery. That’s ok, just not 5 stars. I like the cheese I bought but they don’t taste so fresh (Mediterranean flavored cheese curds). I did buy the habanero ghost pepper cheese (proper spicy), horseradish Monterey Jack, and you get a “free” 8oz longhorn co-jack if you spend $20. All quite tasty and I like to sample local cheeses.
Xochi M — Google review
Stopped here which was part of the gas station and convenience store. All kinds of standard flavored cheese, cheese curds and spreads. Costs more but I’m sure when we taste it at home it will outshine anything from the grocery store.
Angie V — Google review
This was a pleasant surprise! The workers were helpful. The samples were yummy and definitely convinced us to make a purchase. We got snack boxes to eat on the road and cheese for home.
Jennifer H — Google review
They don’t offer custom boxes of any kind and were fairly rude. I’ve been to tons of cheese shops and they’re normally fantastic experiences but these girls in this place are rude. Proceed to talk shit about the customers in front of them. Skip this one and try the one in Green Bay Wisconsin much better service there
Kasey M — Google review
OMG, THE CHEESE!! So many kinds, so many unique flavors! They even had samples to try before you bought a big portion. They had gift boxes/baskets available, and when I was there, they had a special where you got a 1 lb brick of sharp cheddar free when you spent $40 or more. Which, of course, I did. The prices were a tad higher than expected, but everything is that way these days, it seems. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area. (Try the cheese curds!)
Rick — Google review
My wife and I love cheese & had our doubts about a cheese shop attached to a gas station along a freeway. Surprise! Their sharp cheddar was the best we've had in taste and texture. The other cheese varieties were also excellent. Too bad it's so far away from our home.
R W — Google review
The cheese was excellent, particularly the smoked cheddar. We stopped in to figure out why it was called squeaky cheese and it has to do with how the high protein count of the curds interacts with the calcium on a person's teeth.

A fantastic stop if you're driving down I70 between Manhattan and Topeka. Very friendly service and great views. They have quite a few wines (100% Kansas grown grapes) but my wife and I's favorite are the sparkling wines. They also have a great selection of other "made in KS" items.
Lance T — Google review
Stopped by here as a last minute stop and it was perfect! Though we weren’t sure if we were in the right place due to having to go down the dirt road. But at the end of it is a big winery and there shop. The $5 tasting flights are worth it! Had fun tasting some wine and looking around at other Kansas items. Though it seems like it would be a perfect place for big events we didn’t really have time to explore the actually vineyards. Though the person was really friendly and informative about all the different wines we tasted and any questions we had. There were also some really unique artist items around the shop for sale. Defiantly going to have to look into there different event they have and plan a trip back out.

We absolutely love this place. They have a lot of seating covered and uncovered. The staff and owners and very helpful and knowledgeable. They are also very personable. I can’t say enough good things about this place. And of course, the wine is delicious! We will be back (over and over again) and we highly recommend that you come out for a visit.
Desiree P — Google review
Absolutely phenomenal! Bob (the owner) and Brie (the dog) were amazing hosts. Bob is personable and talked to every patron at every table. The wine tasting was amazing. We took home a bottle of our favorite wine from the tasting and a growler of Red Sangria. We sat outside, listened to live music, ate from an assortment of available local charcuterie items (the vineyard provided a knife, pair of scissors, plates, napkins, and forks if needed), and walked around the vineyard.
Victoria R — Google review
On our way from NC to Denver, CO to relocate we stopped here to take a break. It was a magically pleasant experience. Before the road trip people told us to sprint through Kansas because there would be nothing there - they clearly didn't pay attention to the Flint Hills area not this winery. Ron did our tasting and we talked to the owner as well. Both were just beautifully kind people and they let us take our dog off the leash to run free in the field. That was much needed after being in the car for 3 days. STOP HERE! You will see the beauty in Kansas!
Carly L — Google review
Omgosh! This place is phenomenal! I love how it's off the beaten track so you can really enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside. The wine was excellent and the sangria was simply magical! Ron did a wonderful job explaining the different flavors and styles on each bottle overall making us feel welcomed and helping us understand a little more about all wine in general! Super impressive place and hope to go back soon!
Melanie M — Google review
Loved this place! Friendly and knowledgeable staff who assisted in finding a great wine to enjoy. Lots of good options for both white and red; they even carry rosé and some champagne. Great local cheese and summer sausage options as well. Be sure to walk through their vineyards for the best views of the hills. The place has the look and feel of being at home.
Alex T — Google review
Stopped by here heading back to Kansas City for our flight. Made time to do a tasting which was great. The varieties available can be enjoyed by any palate. If we had more time we wouldve sat down and eat some cheese and sausage. If you have time driving down I-70 definitely make the detour.

Prairie Band Casino & Resort

Casino
Casinos & Gambling
Entertainment complex featuring modern hotel rooms, a casino, multiple restaurants & golf.
Overall I would still rank this a 5/5 despite my minor feelings. Rooms: honestly the rooms are pretty nice! I have stayed at this hotel at least 6 different times. I have stayed on the old wing and new addition. I prefer to stay on the new addition if possible, because we bring our family and there is less of a “smokey” smell because it’s on the new addition! The only time I prefer the original side is if I’m right beside the hot tubs. Those are GLORIOUS!!!! Casino: I’m not a gambler and even I enjoy it!! My husbands family loves to play and I enjoy hanging out and watching the games! Such a fun experience! Location: The location is a 4 out of 5 because it’s far away from me…. ;) no seriously it is close enough to Hiawatha and Topeka! If you have kids it’s nice to take them into the city for the morning and do some shopping and then head on back to do some swimming and hot tubbing! Facilities: ten out of ten!! Game room, gym, top golf, pool, hot tubs galore! So many many many places to eat! I can’t get enough of their facilities! My husband and his family love Friday night crab night! Service: five out five. The staff are very attentive and the service was super quick and efficient. We ordered a pizza pool side and it came out within the next 30 minutes! Overall: we love this casino and resort and enjoy coming! I recommend this to everyone!
Destiny B — Google review
We used to love coming out here to play. Anymore, the machines are just tight! We hardly ever see anyone really winning any jackpots. The free play offered is so low compared to what I receive most other places. We ordered a pizza, had to wait 45mins, not a huge deal, as they were busy and I understood that. But when we received the pizza, it was severely Burnt! The response, we'd have to wait another hour now to receive a new one, nonrefund offered. We should have been put in front since we had already waited. We just went to bed.

We stayed in the RV park and the casino games were fun! RV park was safe and had a clean bath house. Only recommendation would be that the casino have an easier and accessible path to enter the casino. I use a wheelchair for my mobility.

Mold in room!! I was willing to give a good review but they removed me after a $10 bet on a table and they didn’t register. I’m huge on this rate business and they were very unfair. I disrupted a minor craps bet and it took 4 high ups to kick me off the premises. It is a money grab play on casino money! Cheers to anyone who play this crooked house.

So last year I visited this same hotel and gave it 5stars .. on this last visit( my Birthday) it was obvious that something had changed.. I was told at the desk that my room was a walk out not the case in fact my window view was of a unkempt dog run.. I went to this hotel with several friends and we each had our owns rooms so lots of traveling in the halls.. To my surprise the halls reeked of marijuana smell and upon entering our rooms they also smelled like marijuana ( probably through the ventilation) my friend was also awakened in the early morning hours to someone crying and the sound of Police or Security radio’s .. I asked an employee at the hotel if it was legal to consume marijuana on the property because I had seen on the hotel tv channel that they grow marijuana on the reservation and since this was a reservation I thought just maybe it is illegal! She said no in fact she had heard others complain about this issue and some received partial refunds on their rooms… So this tells me they are well aware of this issue! I really love the Prairie Band Resort and would like to make this a yearly trip but I am now not sure because I consider these issues pretty drastic compared to a year ago.. I will add that the Spa is 5 stars all way ! It is clean, and so pleasant! We all enjoyed every service that we had there! Spa staff is amazing! They are the initial reason I planned my Birthday celebration there! Kudos to everyone at the Spa!! However, I hope that the management for the hotel resort will step up their game( no pun intended ) and get a handle on the aforementioned issues!
Cheryl P — Google review
The hotel is really nice now that they have added on. There are inside and outside pools, a game room, and a golf swing place. Beware the bathtubs are really high, like really high and deep. Very hard to get in and out of. Rooms are fairly clean but this one could have used a deep clean, wipe off walls, back of bathroom door and walls in bathroom by toilet (2070). Ate at the buffet in the morning. Most of the food was hot but the sausage looked and tasted like it had been made at 5am for 7am opening. The waitress informed me that they make eggs, omelets and pancakes to order. It is not advertised and this was the way to go to make sure food was hot Waitress was so nice and took really good care of me. Was here for the Craig Morgan Concert and it was awesome! It's a small venue and definitely the way to go! Beer/wine counters before you go in and eady to see no matter where you sit (open seating) and doors open at 530, concert starts at 7pm, no opening act which is nice.

We stayed for six nights. We asked them to clean our room half way through and were told they couldn't come in while guests were checked in. The room had no table, no drawers for clothes. It did have a refrigerator and a microwave which was lovely. Highly recommend the pool and spa. And the manager, Gina, was exceptional. Would visit again, just not for such a long stretch.
Carolyn K — Google review
The room was clean, but smelled like smoke. Not recent but the kind from when it was smoked in but they quit 5 years ago. Service at every spot was fantastic. Every spot really. Just over an hour from KC. Facility was well cared for. We went to a comedy show...it was great. All in all it was well worth it.

Firekeeper Golf Course

Golf course
Outdoor Activities
Course is in great shape, as expected. The service was friendly inside the clubhouse and the cart folks. It's definitely worth the trip for our guys' weekend.
Lance T — Google review
One of the best courses I’ve ever played. Hands down the #1 or #2 ranked course in Kansas depending on who you believe and it’s deserving of both. This gem stay and play brings groups from as far as St. Louis and myself from OKC and if you are within the area you have got to play here. Tee boxes and fairways are insane. Greens are tough so bring your A game. If you hit it off the fairway make sure you keep an eye on it as the blue green fescue will hide your ball. I found dozens of balls within inches off the fairway that others just couldn’t see. 😇 Tip: if you shoot around the high 80’s or higher, leave the PRO V 1’s at home. This place will eat em up! Carts have GPS and will help navigate precise shots which are needed on so many holes as the course is hard even for this 10 handicapper. I played the Buffalo tee box and shot an 82. Driver can often bring trouble into play on several holes so prepare for a little disappointment even when a good tee shot looks like you’ve found the fairway. The casino and hotel are just next door , the pro shop has a nice selection of logo items and the quaint clubhouse grille is very accommodating. There are plenty of on course water stations and restrooms. Don’t worry about whatever you pay to play. It’s a legit 5 Star course and it beats most resort courses. Well done Firekeeper 🔥!!

Valet service was exceptional. S/O to Brandi. Definitely had a blast during my stay. Cant wait to revisit next year!
Rob E — Google review
Fun round and unique track. It can play more difficult than the rating and slope leads on with the winds on exposed holes, but fairways are wide and conditions are phenomenal. Great experience from start to finish!
Brandon M — Google review
Nicest course I’ve ever seen. Such a great staff as well. Had a minor inconvenience and they were quick to jump on it and wanted to make it right. Loved the whole experience for our group.
Trevor J — Google review
Great course! Several par 3's that were tough on us but a really fun course to play!!
Kristy K — Google review
I thought course was really nice and very difficult. There were no tee markers out and the bunkers need some attention. Otherwise I would have rated a 5. The clubhouse staff is great!
David B — Google review
We played here on 04/13/2024 and were extremely disappointed. In the past, ride alongs were accepted when walking on. It was brought to our attention that this is not the case on weekends any longer and after severe back and forth our Ride Alongs were granted with a $40 upcharge. Nowhere is this stated on their website. Also the course was not in great shape at all and did not justify the $135 green fee. Multiple fairways were gouged by what appeared to be the guidearm from the mowers, tee box's were bare dirt in various prime spots, multiple sections approaching the green were flooded and the bunkers were concrete solid which guaranteed a gouge on your wedge if you hit into them. This will be my first and last time playing at this course which is a huge shame after reading the rave reviews from the past!

The Kansas Museum of History, established by the Kansas Historical Society in the 1980s, is located on an 80-acre parcel near the Potawatomi Mission. The museum offers a chronological journey through Kansas history, featuring exhibits and artifacts such as Dwight D. Eisenhower's WWII field jacket and William Allen White's printing press. Visitors can explore about 30,000 square feet of exhibits and enjoy a walking trail showcasing Kansas's natural flora and fauna.
Used to come here a lot with the family (had an annual membership for several years) and we were very sad to hear of it closing. A beautiful place to walk around, staff were wonderful and the exhibits were quite grand. I am glad to see in the comments that it looks to be open again (even if limited times).

I visited the Kansas Museum of History and was moved by the history of this area. I learned that Kansas was actually the "Wild West" we saw in the cowboy western movies. The United States was in a time of terrible transition. I read actual letters written by Kansas Mothers to the President of the United States begging for some type of assistance. The Dust Bowl and the Great Depression took its toll causing death and destruction. Children were dying of starvation; families had to abandon their farms and move to cities to survive. It was a terrible time in US history. It you like history, this is the real deal!

⭐️⭐️☆☆☆ Beautiful location, but unfortunately closed during our visit We stopped by the museum while we were in Topeka, hoping to explore it with the kids, but unfortunately it was closed that day, so we didn’t get the full experience. From the outside, it looks amazing — the grounds are well kept, and there’s a nice nature trail and play area nearby that the kids really enjoyed for a bit. It definitely seems like a great family spot, and I’d love to come back when it’s open to give a full review of the exhibits and inside experience. Hopefully next time we’ll catch it during hours, because it looks like a hidden gem for families visiting Topek

Great place to learn about Kansas history. Have been here with school field trips as well as a family outing. The kids enjoy it and do not get too bored too fast. There is a play area in the lobby where kids can dress up and learn more hands on 🙂 Prices are fair and the gift shop has nice items as well as local honey and more. Check out their events hosted and go see the amazing history of our area!

Gage Park is a beloved gem in Topeka, perfect for those seeking a delightful day outdoors. Spanning an impressive 160 acres, this park offers a plethora of attractions that cater to visitors of all ages. Families can enjoy picnics amidst the lush landscapes or celebrate special occasions like birthdays in its scenic surroundings.
Best Park in Topeka. Located across from the Topeka Zoo, Gage Park is a popular park in town, best known for the famous mini train that operates there. Loved by locals and visitors alike. Gage Park is spacious and offers many different play equipment options for children and plenty of sitting areas to watch your kids play. Also a great place to enjoy some quiet time in nature. This park also offers a fishing pond, shelter houses that can be reserved and rented, beautiful gardens, areas to walk, a dog park and Blaisdell Pool opposite of the park and zoo. This entire family fun area is a must visit.

It's a really nice park. There's a train for everyone to ride and a zoo. Visited the zoo alot but haven't in recent years. We took the grandkids last week for the swings. It was fun:) Used to drive by often and see the bears sleeping up in the tree, but I believe they cut it down. They do have the rose garden as well, but everything still needs to blossom, it looked a bit sad when we were there, that time of year. If your in the Topeka area, its a definitely worth a visit. (Didn't get many photos without the kids in them.)
Jeannette K — Google review
This is a large park with a variety of activities on or near the site. It has a nice playground area with benches and some decently sized trees for shade. Within walking distance is a zoo, an amphitheater and a number of walking trails.
Steve H — Google review
This park is a real gem for the whole community. The playgrounds are clean, safe, and fun for kids of all ages, with plenty of shaded benches for caregivers. The picnic areas and shelters are well-maintained and perfect for family gatherings or a relaxed afternoon with friends. Dog owners will love the fenced dog park — roomy, clean, and a great space for pups to socialize. The lakes are beautiful and peaceful, with paved walking paths and plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the view or watch the wildlife. The small local zoo is a delightful surprise: animals appear well-cared-for, and the informative signage makes it an educational stop for kids. Grounds and restrooms are kept tidy, staff and volunteers are friendly, and there’s plenty of parking and accessibility throughout. Whether you’re bringing the family, walking your dog, or just looking for a lovely place to relax, this park delivers. Highly recommend for a full day of outdoor fun.

Topeka Zoo, located within Gage Park, has been a popular attraction since 1933. Over the years, it has undergone modernization and expansion to become home to nearly 400 animals from around the world. The zoo features immersive exhibits such as Jungle Cats, Tropical Rainforest, Waterbird Lagoon, Black Bear Woods, and Kansas Carnivores.
This is a very cute zoo. We mainly came for the garden area and it did not disappoint. The zoo is well kept and the staff we interacted with were friendly. There are few animals on display or maybe with a small zoo this is the norm. Either way we had a good time and it was worth the hour drive out of our way before heading back to Nebraska.

We drove from KC to come to the zoo. We love the Topeka zoo. The keepers are very friendly and like to share knowledge with guests. The exhibits are nice and well kept. It is a smaller zoo, but you see a lot in a shorter amount of time. The zen garden is absolutely beautiful. The fruit bat is my favorite animal to see there.

Nice place with many happy animals. Walking the zoo was an easy tour with the animals looking healthy and happy. It did feel a little used with an older feel to the walk way. I was excited to see they are working on a new tiger exhibit and the giraffe exhibit. Smaller zoo for the capital of Kansas, but nice. Not a big area to build more so what they have is awesome.

1000% an amazing place to go I've been to this zoo probably two dozen times and every time, it's just a little different of an experience. Whether it be from the various changes the zoo is doing or just seeing a new animal in a way I haven't before. This particular time, I got to see the bear splash around in the water and enjoy life. What a great time.

It’s not huge zoo like KC, but the size the perfect for a small kid family. They are upgrading the tiger area which is absolutely needed. The Japanese garden is hidden gem. We love this zoo.

Last time I went to the Topeka Zoo, there were lots of dinosaurs and pterosaurs, which I really liked because it added some spice to the already awesome zoo experience. They have giraffes which are very cute and you get to watch them play soccer, which is adorable with how they just kick the little ball. I really like the hippo exhibit, the hippo swims in his pool and it's super cute. Orangutans, I think orangutans, maybe they're chimps or something, but I think they're orangutans because they're orange, anyways the orangutans are kind of scary but also pretty interesting and they like climbing. Please also check out the other monkey things and the turtle too. Overall very nice experience.

The Evel Knievel Museum is a tribute to the legendary daredevil, showcasing his journey to fame and his death-defying motorcycle jumps that resulted in numerous broken bones. Visitors can explore authentic memorabilia, including his iconic bikes, performance leathers, and battered helmets. The 13,000 sq ft museum opened in June 2017 and features exhibits dedicated to Knievel's famous jumps. The first floor of the museum is built around his restored Mack Truck 'Big Red.'
Growing up as a preteen and teen in the 70’s, Evel was a larger than life daredevil. I remember watching the televised jumps, especially the terrifying Caesar’s Palace and Snake River Canyon jumps. And his interviews, he was always calm and cool. Afterwards we would go outside, get on our bikes and jump over homemade ramps and do wheelies. Unfortunately, the museum is being relocated to Las Vegas. I’m looking forward to revisiting it in its new location, I’m sure it will be bigger and better than ever!

Added this stop at the last minute since we had extra time in town. Nice museum and had some good displays. Probably not someplace you’d want to stop unless at least one of your group has fond memories of growing up watching Evel. Overall we had a good time and my kids enjoyed it even though they had no idea what it was all about going in. I passed on my memories from my childhood so they could see what an icon he was. We were there about an hour and a half so it is overall a well done museum full of one of a kind memorabilia and a good place to stretch your legs if your passing through town.

Glad I went before it moves to Las Vegas ! Lots of memories from when I was a kid. Well put together displays , videos and news clippings. Also bought the motorcycle action figure combo , glad I did.

This was a good experience. It wasn't to expensive and it had a lot of memorabilia. It had his motorcycles and his truck that have been refurbished. It started when he was a child and went through his death. It is all cataloged and talks about what he did and there was even videos of his jumps and wrecks. I liked how it really focused on him and not the rest of his family. It had some things from my childhood as in toys and even a Wheaties box. :-) It was also a beautiful buliding that it was in.

Super nice people and a fun place to visit. Get here while it's still in Topeka, it's moving to Las Vegas. Great displays and the VR jump was worth the extra $5. Incredible story. But sure to visit the Harley Davidson museum it's almost as good.

Spent about 1.5hrs to read through everything and also did the 2 min simulator ride. A really well curated museum to showcase Evel Knievel’s career from child to retirement. Really great short plaques throughout with videos showcasing the jump. Loved that they summarized whether the stunt was a success or resulted in an injury. However, would of loved to see a dedicated section for his son, after learning that his son followed footsteps for 40 years.

Very cool museum of my boyhood idol! Great exhibits, well done! A comprehensive collection of Evel and his life-long stunts and shows. A must see!

Kansas State Capitol Visitor Center

Visitor center
Sights & Landmarks
When in Topeka, don't miss the Kansas State Capitol Visitor Center, home to the iconic Kansas State Capitol. This historic building houses the state's executive and legislative branches and offers guided tours that explore its chambers, murals, and library. The Capitol underwent a 14-year renovation completed in 2014, making it a shining monument to Kansas history. One of its unique features is the towering dome, which offers breathtaking views and is one of the few capitols in the U.S.
The Kansas State Capitol is an incredible place to visit! The building itself is stunning, with beautiful architecture, detailed murals, and an impressive dome that you can actually climb if you’re up for it. The guided tours are informative and give a fascinating look into Kansas history and government. I was especially impressed by the artwork inside, including the famous John Steuart Curry murals. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and everything was very well maintained. Whether you’re interested in history, architecture, or just want to enjoy great views of Topeka from the top of the dome, this is a must-see stop!
Nasser D — Google review
Another great capitol. It has a parking garage right under the building, which leads to the visitor's center. There is an informative museum and gift shop. The building is very nice inside and allows you to tour the dome and even go outside around it. I did not go on the tour because there are certain times they do it. I would definitely try to come back just for that.
Dennis L — Google review
As part of a cross country road trip in September 2024 stopped to see several state capitol buildings. Kansas has a very nice one that is well worth the time to visit if you are in the area. Tour guide was very knowledgeable. Tour lasted about an hour and included a lot of information on the history of the state. There is a separate tour for those that want to go up into the rotunda area. We didn’t do it due to time constraints. Highly recommend seeing this state capitol building if you are in the area.
Rich T — Google review
Took the free dome tour. It was a lot of stairs-- the older folks with us decided not to go all the way to the top-- but you're able to go outside at the top and see an amazing view. Tour guide was knowledge and interesting. Call ahead of your group is large, but we were able to show up without calling ahead about 15 minutes early. Go in the door below the stairs at the north of the building. The shop had a variety of things and was clean and professional. Highly recommend.
Amber W — Google review
The museum on the bottom floor was interesting, but the building itself is amazing. Beautiful architecture, the next time I am through Topeka, I will do the dome tour. I did not have time to explore the library either, but it looked like a place to get lost in for a few days
Ryce E — Google review
Very happy with our decision to visit the Kansas State Capitol. The staff was fantastic. We chose the guided tour but they do have self tour options as well. We brought our soon to be 2 year old and at an hour the tour was just long enough to be to long for him. I did the tour of the dome as well and was impressed with that. It's a lot of stairs, be prepared. All in all highly recommend.
Louis H — Google review
The Topeka Capitol Visitor Center offers a welcoming and informative experience. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the exhibits are engaging and well-presented. A must-visit for anyone interested in history or government!
EagleCore M — Google review
Loved the 1 hr free historical guided tour. Our tour guide was informative and clear. Learned about the state history of Kansas, state Capitol building, murals, etc. Highly recommend to do the tour. It is a beautiful building inside and out. There is also a dome tour I did not have time for.

Sights & Landmarks
The Brown v. Board of Education National Historical Park is located in Topeka, Kansas and commemorates the landmark Supreme Court case that ended racial segregation in public schools. The former Monroe Elementary School, one of the city's segregated schools, now serves as a civil rights interpretive center and National Historic Site.
I finally had time to visit and I'm so glad I did! I will return again. All the Park Rangers and volunteers were very supportive and helpful. I learned a great deal and I know my next visits I'll pick up more information. Their bookstore/gift shop is small but I found my book to describe what I just experienced, my NPS coin (no penny smasher), bumper sticker, t shirt and NPS tote. Oh and magnet. It's free, so I didn't "get to show" my America the Beautiful pass but they had a donation box to help support the Park, which I did. It's important to support our National Parks and historical sites. I will support it as often as I am in Topeka.
Shellie R — Google review
A really informative and important moment to remember. Making this a National Park Historical place was the right thing. A well put together resource to remember the historic court cases that abolished segregation in schools. Something that sane and logical people need to continue to remember and uphold the ideals of good.

While on a cross country road trip in September 2024 we visited several places in Topeka, one of which was the school building that was central to the US Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of education. Very friendly park staff took the time to provide a lot of information and explained the background behind the case. Very good layout and exhibits to see. Spent about an hour here. If you are in the Topeka area, highly recommend seeing this.
Rich T — Google review
A must see/do for any person interested in history, civil rights, or government. So much to learn here so that history does not repeat itself. It is sad that this is part of our American history, yet so important to learn from. All the exhibits are so well done. Staff was also excellent. Nice gift shop. Free parking lot across the street. No entry fee.

The Brown V. Board of Education NHS is a Park that you need to see. Passport cancelation stamps are on a table as you walk into the building. There are six passport cancelation stamps here! The staff and park ranger were very nice and knowledgeable. They answered any and all questions I had.

Stopped to picnic and fish with a friend. It was a beautiful summer day and the park/lake was awesome. Very clean, not too crowded. Didn't catch any fish but enjoyed the view. Bathrooms were clean and had toilet paper too. Would have given 5 stars if i caught a fish.

This park is a beautiful place to go. The flowers and trees are amazing. There are a lot of picnic table to be enjoyed, ducks and geese, as well as many other birds. Docks to walk on or fish from. And a huge walking/ biking trail that goes completely around the lake. I think the trail is 6 miles. I love looking at the flowers, they smell so good. We have picniced in the are a few times and walked the trail. Once we were picnicking and doing homework when we saw a group of baby ducks, they were so adorable.

I give it four stars because it's a small town golf course which is a positive. I like to play small town courses because they are unique. The fairways on this course could use some work. A lot of bare spots or weeds. I wish they would make red tee boxes . My partner and I noticed the yellow, white, etc tee boxes were nice and well marked, but the red tee boxes were a different story. They weren't easy to spot because they were not well marked (only had one small red box) and there wasn't an actual tee box with nice grass to hit from. If you want a new course to try though, I would recommend this.

Wow! What I wonderful experience we had! We did the wine tasting, where we got to try 6 different kinds of wine for a fair price. Then... we ended up buying 6 bottles :D Jaime was wonderful! She explained the details for each wine perfectly :) We also had the cheese tray! Yum!! If i could add one thing to put the cherry on top... would be to have music playing in the background (or live music), but that's it! Everyone was so friendly! Will definitely be back! :)

I am trying to wrap up an online program with KU, and I cannot express how much I feel underserved based on how much effort I have put into my program of studies and how little engagement I have seen from our instructors. I have paid thousands of dollars for poor-production-value recorded lectures (some of which were literally from a face-to-face class prior to Covid), and "instructors" that are just using these older lectures (often not even of them) and having TAs grade their papers. I'd check the syllabus for guidance, but that isn't even correct a lot of the time. Need help? Well you better be able to access the Zoom link in the middle of a weekday, which seems pretty odd for an online program. Want to go through legitimate channels to voice your concerns and complaints? "We value your feedback, " but if that were the case wouldn't things be improving? I have tried multiple avenues to voice my concerns, which has led me finally here. Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else for online programs.
Erik W — Google review
I have to say I really like that the school has such great students and faculty. I also love that they have a program for incoming faculty (not sure if for staff) for dual careers. It is hard to relocate a lot and get the lay of the land when you follow your spouse.

Great free museum located at the University of Kansas. The first floor was the current showcase Native Fasion, and the upper level was their main collection. This museum has a great permanent display and if you go on Friday the curators can pull works from their archive. I have been coming here since I was a small child and it’s always nice to see what they have in exhibition. Their permanent display has changed since the last time I came and I was pleasantly surprised to see some things I haven’t seen before.

For a university museum, and the fact that the main gallery is free to visit, this is a must see. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, and parking was free. I was surprised by the broad spectrum of art here. Plenty of contemporary pieces, various American pastoral works, 18th century European portraits, and a hodge-podge of Buddhist/Asian religious statues. Too must to list. Wow!!! A hidden gem, a Natural and Archaeological Museum. In my opinion museum hold more archaeological attractions than natural ones. Suggestion: A name revision may be needed to draw more attention and pull in more people to the KU museum(s). Awesome! Awesome selection of various fossils, animals and detail info on human DNA, and on and on. ADULTS: PLEASE BRING YOUR YOUNG ONES TO THIS MUSEUM. There are so many marvelous things about the KU Natural History Museum! My children and I have always loved going there, I did before I even had children myself. Letting the kiddo's minds wander about various things throughout our world, both current and in the past is truly wonderful. It sparks fantastic conversation. They also love the souvenir shop. Awesome displays of different habitats and taxidermy. A few stations where you can actually pet the fur of different animals. In the summer they have a large hive of bees that you can see into! It is not a very big museum, multiple levels, but not a difficult or long trip at all. The building is old, they DO have an elevator, but there has been a time or two when it has been out of order. They also have some living snakes, lizards, and insects too!

We truly enjoyed our stop at this museum on the Prairie Spirit State Park trailhead. What made our visit so great was our visit with Mike, the museum guide. He was so anxious to talk to us about the exhibits and point out things we wouldn't want to miss. It is two-stories, that include a large model train town on the first floor, and an old one-room classroom, Victorian living room, kitchen, ice cream parlor, and a general store on the second floor. We stayed over an hour to see all the items that Mike pointed out. We loved the story about the Naked Voters! The museum is free but everyone will want to contribute to the donation box.

I drive from KC to play disc golf at this park a couple of times per year. It's a great open layout course with a couple of lengthy holes. Easy to moderate difficulty depending on skill level. I'd recommend this course for anyone.

Has a splash pad & a park area. The grand kids had lots of fun here

Nice park! There is a fun disc gold golf course there perfect for casual play. Not very wooded, so most of the holes are fairly wide open. But there are trees along the course. Perfect course for beginners/casual play. It was kind of wet though, and the water doesn't seem to drain very fast from the course, so it was muddy and wet in lots of spots. I'm sure it's fine though if you go on a dry day.

Nice open park with walking trails, playgrounds and an 18 hole disc golf course.

We love 💙 walking here. Nice walking trail. A few others walking and jogging, riding bikes, playing disc golfer, a few families playing and dog walkers too. All the way around, lightly busy, nice, quiet, friendly park.

This park has a great playground, 3/4 mile walking trail, water station, disc golf, and exercise stations. I'd love to see a real bathroom there, as there is only a portable bathroom, which during the summer in Kansas gets pretty rank. The portable bathroom is handicapped accesible, however.

The park looks great, thanks to the city workers doing a fantastic job of keeping it that way. Almost all the time I am here to play disc golf or walk the path, which is a very nice walk most of the time with a lot of space with bicycles. The new baskets are great. The new tee pads make this course much more enjoyable. The local disc golf club has worked hard to make all of that happen.

I would watch the kids when they go up the stairs to the slide. It's pretty steep and open, so little ones can fall, but the rest of the park is pretty sized well for little one otherwise. I didn't feel like I had to follow them around too much. Other than that the walking path is really nice for running some laps and there's a nice frisbee golf course.
