The Eisenhower Presidential Library in Abilene, Kansas is a truly worthwhile destination for anyone interested in American history. Situated on a lovely, well-maintained campus that spans several buildings, the site offers a comprehensive and engaging look into the life and legacy of Dwight D. Eisenhower. The museum itself is exceptionally well done, with thoughtfully curated exhibits and high-quality displays that cover everything from Eisenhower’s military career to his presidency and personal life. One highlight was the gallery dedicated to First Lady Mamie Eisenhower, which included a charming collection of her dresses and personal items, offering a more intimate glimpse into her life and style. Another standout feature of the visit was the opportunity to tour Eisenhower’s boyhood home. The house is preserved beautifully, and we were fortunate to have an excellent guide who provided informative and engaging context about Eisenhower’s early years. The staff across the campus were universally friendly and knowledgeable, clearly passionate about sharing Eisenhower’s story with visitors. To cap off the experience, visitors can pay their respects at the serene chapel on the grounds, where President Eisenhower, his wife Mamie, and their firstborn son are laid to rest. Overall, this is a rich and rewarding visit that combines historical significance with personal stories, making it a must-see for history buffs and casual visitors alike.

Wow, excellent place to visit! There is much to see and explore. We enjoyed seeing the boyhood home of Eisenhower. They do offer tours but we arrived too late in the day. The museum was well done and flowed well. We particularly enjoyed the several short films. You can also walk into the library, visit the prayer chapel where the president and his wife were interred. The visitor center is a nice stop too. We enjoyed picking up “I like Ike” pins and a few other unique souvenirs. Definitely an afternoon well spent for the whole family. Bonus: they have RV parking!!

We visited the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum because this past June was the 80th anniversary of D-Day. The museum is well done. History buffs and WWII buffs will really like it. For example, the museum has the table where Eisenhower and others planned D-Day. The museum also has the car used by Eisenhower in Europe. The best part was touring his boyhood home. Our tour guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. Although the library also had exhibits, we did not go to the library because of time constraints. We stopped into the chapel where General Eisenhower, his wife, and son are buried. We did not know about the introductory film in the gift shop and we did not have time to watch it once we learned about it. I suggest you start with the gift shop & watch the film. The price for the museum and boyhood home were very reasonable; $10 and $5 each (senior price purchased in advance). The price for most items in the gift shop was too much; e.g., a cotton throw for $70. Perhaps the gift shop did a price elasticity study but the prices did not seem worth it to me. Photos are allowed so I took a lot of photos. The grounds are beautiful. I suggest allowing at least 4 hours.

This museum was quite impressive. I will admit I did not know much about Dwight Eisenhower, aside from his WWII Command in Europe and his presidency. His museum was very well laid out and informative. We did not tour the library or house, but the meditation center/final resting place of the former president, First Lady and their oldest was a solemn and impressive spot. I learned so much about the man, his beloved wife and his humble beginnings. If you find yourself in Kansas, this is a must-see.

Extremely informative look at President Eisenhower’s life and the historical events throughout his time as world leader. His leadership throughout World War II is throughly explored. A great man and Kansan. There have been a number of updates to the museum that make it both more immersive and interactive. 10/10!

It was well maintained and very interesting to learn about this President and his impact on the country and world. Only sad thing is home is closed on Sundays

The Visitor Center is separate from the museum and the library. You can get your ticket at the visitor center and then watch a short film about Eisenhower's life. Then you walk to the museum to check that out. If you have mobility issues and need to limit your walking, I discovered from the museum staff that you can purchase your ticket online and then skip the visitor center and go directly to the museum. You have to make sure that you either print your ticket or you're able to show your ticket on your phone to the people in the museum. In skipping the visitor center, you will forgo the short film about Eisenhower's life but there are a number of films in the museum that you will be able to see once you get there. Nice museum with a lot of information about Eisenhower's military service as well as his focus on peace during his presidency.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL zoo!! The entire zoo is very clean to include the bathrooms. There is a large assortment of animals to see & the animals appear quite healthy. There are bathrooms scattered throughout the zoo. A large amount of motorized scooters with and without shade are available for rental (in the $30 range for the entire day.) There are also motorized animals like the ones in malls for rent-I believe they were $26/hour. A cup can be purchased for $10 that gets you free refills for the day. We really enjoyed feeding the giraffes and petting & feeding the stingrays! Such a special place. We really enjoyed ourselves. Plan a whole day here so you can see everything!

Had a wonderful Saturday exploring the Sedgwick County Zoo with two friends! We booked our tickets online, which I highly recommend—it was simple and saved us $25 total ($5 per ticket) compared to the gate price. ​The zoo itself is beautiful and was decorated with these incredible, giant animal lanterns from some kind of special event. The snow leopard and butterfly displays we saw were a magical touch and made the walkways even more fun. We spent most of our day exploring the Africa, South America, and Australia sections, and the habitats are truly world-class. ​A few tips for your visit: ​Arrive Early! The zoo is HUGE. We weren't able to see the North America section because we ran out of time. To cover everything without rushing, I'd say the best time to get there is between 10 and 11 AM. ​Check for Closures: We were disappointed to find the Cessna Penguin Cove was closed for maintenance. It’s probably a good idea to check their website before you go. ​Animal Naps are Real: It was a sunny day, so the lion and tiger were snoozing in the shade, and we couldn't find the red panda. It happens, but if you want to see them active, an earlier or cooler day might be better! ​Even with the few things we missed, it was an amazing day out. It’s a top-notch zoo and a fantastic value.

My Service Dog’s first visit did not disappoint! Employees were knowledgeable upon our arrival and directed us in to receive his staff-shirt-colored bandana (unfortunately not a keepsake and must be returned upon exit) and map of restricted areas for him (not many, and each of the restricted buildings had a very clearly labeled sign for SD’s on the entrance). There are no dedicated relief areas but many grassy lawns with a cluster of trees or bench you can duck behind to be more discrete. It was so fun to see all the exhibits through my pup’s eyes. The “wild lights” statues and things were set up which made for twice as many cool things to look at in addition to the animals- highly recommend going during this time! Lots of animals were up close and/or moving- we had the luck of a warm but breezy day so no one was scorching, but you still want to wear sunscreen, pack water, and plan to walk! The Beastro makes for a great lunch midday- the Falafal Caesar Salad was surprisingly AMAZING! Thanks so much SCZ- we will be back! (We wish we could have kept our pup’s bandana as a memento! Please let this be an option next time- we would buy it if needed :)

I was visiting from out-of-state and had to go to this zoo. It was beautiful and did not disappoint! The animal habitats were nicely laid out, and animals could be clearly seen. The penguin encounter was closed due to new glass replacement, and the stingray exhibit was closed for the season, but everything else was great. It was pretty with the lantern decorations even in the daytime. I would also recommend the train ride.

Viewed the Zoo's seasonal lighting. Paid $16 for a ticket. Very nice, and plentiful displays. Most were animated and brilliantly lit. There are interactive games for children throughout the lights display; including an area with a lit see-saw, a pair of swings as well as a small fun house as well as a monster to interact with. These activities are for the young ones, but cool nonetheless. A bit of a line at the entrance, give we were there right at their opening time of six, but worth the short wait.

Really great zoo. My kids always have a great time going here. We saw an orangutan painting. Gorillas next to us and the elephants out n about on our train ride. We also saw some of the light exhibit. If you're ever bored, go here. $$$

What can I say about the local zoo? Lots of walking, plenty of things to see and do. Coming up on winter, many of the animals are off exhibit this time of year and there are many places under construction. However, the enclosures are generous, the staff is super friendly, and the overall traffic is pretty low so seeing your favorite animal is always easy...almost never more than a minute or two wait due to traffic. Wife and kids love this place, just make sure to pack some snacks if you're making a day of it. While the concessions are available, they're expensive for everything as it's a funding source for the zoo. Overall, it's a good time for the family and a great way to spend a day with the family if you grab the membership for the year like we do.

This was a really interesting activity during my recent visit to Kansas. I was able to walk in and buy a ticket for the Combo tour (Salt Blast Pass and the Salt Safari). Had about a 10 minute wait until they took us down 650 feet in a dark elevator. For the first half hour we were on our own to explore, look at the exhibits and watch the videos. Then we got on a small train for a narrated ride through the mine. Following that, those of us who chose the Safari were seated in a small electric cart driven by Larry. He took us all over the mine, telling us many interesting facts and stories and pointing out different things along the way. At one point we entered the non-electrified area, so no overhead lights. The only light was from the cart's headlight and the flashlights he gave us. The road was very bumpy but Larry is a very careful driver. This was the best part of the whole combo tour and we saw the mine as it was back in the 1940s and 50s - trash and all! A couple times we were allowed to get off the cart and pick up chunks of salt as souvenirs. Highly recommend touring Strataca, and if you're the least bit adventurous be sure to do the Combo tour!

My kids and I loved spending our afternoon here. My kids are 17 and 7 and they both enjoyed it. One of them is a bit claustrophobic and was nervous about riding the hoist but it was fine and once you are underground it is very spacious and open. We loved the exhibits, learning about the history of the mine and our guides. I would highly recommend taking the train ride and doing the dark ride. We will be back in the future!

This place is really fun and definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. We had tickets for 2 tours and the dark ride I think, and yes, in one tour and the dark ride, you are allowed at one time each to choose a rock from a pile that you can keep. Tour rock was to be no larger than a hard hat, dark ride no larger than your fist - or you could fill a small bag with rocks, which was actually better in this case because most rocks seemed too large. There are no bags to carry these rocks in and you will need to carry them around until you leave for the most part. There is a table you can leave them on while you continue to shop or explore, but there are no bags to store them in. Whole some information overlaps in tours and can get repetitive for folks who have been to each, they have their own charm, and I enjoyed them. We did learn a lot about the salt mines and the tour guides were all quite educational and friendly. The shaft to get down/up can be a little shaky and sometimes they leave the light inside off. We did on the way down and I felt a little dizzy after - they will turn it on if you ask, it's not a big deal. It was much better on the way up with it on. They have all sorts of events going on, and if we were closer, we'd definitely check them out. This place is worth visiting for sure. Children will find some enjoyment, though it is mostly a museum. The special events might be something they would enjoy more.

We had so much fun looking and learning about the mine and all the history. I recommend going on all 3 rides thru the mine. Be sure to get your rocks too! The museum was fascinating and don't worry if you don't have enough time to walk thru it before going into the mine, you will have plenty of time after. It's hard to believe you are 650 ft underground! This looks us a little over 3 hours. I will go here again if I get in the area again!

Strataca review WE GOT THE SHAFT!!! 😁 We went down a mine shaft today that is. Toured Strataca, a former salt mine section 650 feet below Hutchison, Kansas. Starting with a 90 second hoist ride down at 10:00 AM and ending with a 90-second hoist ride back up at 2:30 PM, we saw a lot of exhibits explaining the history and techniques of salt mining. The sections we were in were actively mined beginning in the late 1940's through the late 1950's. Active mining has been ongoing and continues to this day mining horizontally at the 650 foot depth. It's all connected, but the current active mining is now about 2 miles away from the section we were in. Besides walking in various exhibit areas, we also got to take 3 tram/train tours back through different sections. We definitely recommend doing the combo-pass to include the "salt safari". It was not "claustrophobic" as the mined sections were all about 50 feet wide and 10 feet tall. It is a consistently about 67 degrees down there every day all year round (very nice). These mines produce road salt, not table salt. One of the rules in the safety briefing was "Don't lick the salt." 👅 Sections of mined out areas are now used for safe, secure, climate controlled, dry storage (as salt naturally removes moisture from the air). We also got to see some of the storage area and some artifacts from movie companies that are stored here. A great experience and well worth the time and admission.

My wife wanted to go to this and I wasn't too excited about it to be honest. But when we got in 650 ft below the ground level and started looking around this is a really cool place. I would recommend anybody taking an afternoon to go in and checking it out. Lot of very cool history down here

We drove from Topeka Friday morning, June 20, 2025. We bought the Combo Pass which included the Salt Safari and the Salt Blast. We had a great time! It was nice and cool, 68 degrees, 650' underground. (97 degrees outside that day) The staff were all very friendly and well informed in all facets of the mine. The tram tours and train ride were fun and informative. Everyone has such a wonderful sense of humor! We also stopped by the gift shop and bought a couple of T shirts to have a remembrance of our time there. We would recommend adding Strataca to your bucket list!

A change of plans almost kept us from stopping in, but we are so glad we did! The Boot Hill Museum is am amazing time capsule! It gathers an impressive collection of historical items that portray the historical significance of Dodge City. We made the most out of the hour or so we toured the museum and were very impressed by it. We only wish we had more time to take it all in. I can only imagine how amazing their live shows are!

Oh my God!!! This place is a must see place to experience and educate yourself on the Wild West!!!! I can’t recall one of the employee’s name, but she gave me knowledge of the places and nearby attractions in the area. The museum was shutting down for the evening on August 28th. But, she let me and my husband to see Ms. Kitty’s attire and admire it for a couple of minutes!!! We really appreciated that brief moment!!! Thank you!!!! When we went back the next day, it was an amazing journey of the 1800s and life in Dodge City. The artifacts collected over the years were definitely a priceless treasure!!!!! The gunfight skit was outstanding!! The gunfighters…..WOW!!!! They autographed me an 8x10 photo of the whole crew. They even took a picture with me. This particular gem and their deserve more than 5 stars. I live in Nebraska and I’m giving all of you a shout out!!! Anyone who makes plans to visit Dodge City, you have to make an unforgettable experience right here at the Boot Hill Museum!!! It will make you feel like you’re living in the moment of the Wild West!!!❤️ And thank you for making our family vacation special and worth coming back next year!!!

Living in the Wild Wild West! If you’re in the area for Dodge City and Boot Hill this is a must see attraction! So much history in a relatively small area. Legends such as Wyatt Earp, Doc Holiday, and many others made their presence felt here. The museum did a great job capturing this time era. Plan on staying for about a good hour to hour and a half to read and enjoy all the exhibits.

You can tell there's been a lot of effort put into the displays to bring history back to life and help the younger generations connect with what it was like living in the wild west. Their reconstruction of the boardwalk in downtown Dodge City of the Old West is fantastic! They offer a variety show with dinner most nights at 7pm featuring some talented folks as well as a gunfight at 6:30pm.

This place is an enjoyable experience for people of all ages. They have a lovely gift shop, and several bathrooms throughout the area. It is an open-ended tour, so you decide where to go at your own pace. Tickets stop selling at 5pm. Nobody new can enter, but you have until 7 to explore if you entered before 5. The saloon was great, Karen was absolutely lovely and showed my aunt and I how to do the "cancan" - and while we danced terribly, it was fun, and my aunt will not stop talking about how good the experience was. Karen was very kind and helpful, more than willing to help take photos. We spent probably 30 minutes just in there drinking our root beer and chatting with her. Highly recommend this building! A few places are closed for renovations, but there is a lot to explore and many places you can sit and rest. The environment is great and quite peaceful.

Interesting set-up with some original buildings. Many artifacts including guns are shown, along with life in Dodge City in the early cowboy times. The shoot-out was fun to watch, following most movie scripts. The dinner was tasty, and the show was fun. The actress playing Miss Kitty had a wonderful singing voice. I highly recommend this as a fun and interesting way to spend several hours.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Boot Hill Museum. The place is huge with a museum, gift shop, boot hill cemetery and recreation of an old west town. The staff are great. Many dress in period costume and are friendly and very knowledgeable. A grand spot to visit to get a feel for the area.

Scott's Bluff was quite an amazing place that was above anything we even expected. Not only did we have access to the grounds, but we were able to drive up to the top where there were tunnels, hiking trails, vistas and overlooks. We were quite impressed by the scale and was surprised to see anything like this in Nebraska. This was also on the path of the Oregon Trail, something we found out while we were there. It was a nice find between the Badlands and Denver.

This is a pretty place, but basically you drive to the top and have some great views from there. However there are no pullouts along the way. Oh yeah, there are a couple trails at the top. A big negative was access to the drive closes at 5 or 5:30 pm. My first day there I wasn't aware of this and wanted to get some sunset photos from the top. That was nixed obviously. You can hike to the top at any time, but I suppose that's for youngsters and folks who are in good shape. I will say the visitor center was outstanding.

I was able to take this area in for only a short drive up to the top. It was a great view from the top. I would love to return to hike up it as a section is a hiking tunnel. The park ranger at the gate was very friendly and informative. Another pair of rangers were at the top and clearly engaged with visitors. Great job team!

My daughter and I recently visited Scotts Bluff National Monument, and it was an experience we’ll never forget. The towering bluffs rise dramatically from the plains, creating a stunning backdrop that’s even more breathtaking in person. We took our time exploring the trails and scenic overlooks, and every angle offered a new perspective of the sweeping Nebraska landscape. What really stood out, though, was the historical significance of this place. Walking where pioneers once traveled along the Oregon Trail made the visit feel both educational and meaningful, connecting us to a part of American history you can’t fully grasp from a textbook alone. The visitor center added even more context with its exhibits and friendly staff, who were happy to answer questions and share stories. If you haven’t been to Scotts Bluff before, I can’t recommend it enough. Whether you’re drawn by the history, the scenery, or simply the chance to spend time outdoors, it’s a destination worth making the trip for—you’ll walk away with memories that last.

No entry fee for this NPS site. Fantastic views at the top. Wonderful history. Never knew Nebraska had this much elevation change. Definitely a must stop if you’re getting from Denver to the Black Hills as we were doing.

They have the best people who work and volunteer here. We loved the talk that Caleb gave about bighorn sheep in the area. The man who met us at the entrance was super friendly and helpful. Doug, a volunteer, was great as well. The drive to the top is definitely worth it.

Paved and well maintained hiking trails! Saddle Rock was steep but well worth it. Visit the Visitors Center while you are here! Incredibly informative exhibits, cool souvenirs, and a very friendly staff.

Really interesting place. Such important history happened here. Definitely felt like hollowed ground walking around. Very good signage describing what you are looking at. Additionally, the 19 minute video at the visitor center is very informative.

I visited Fort Laramie National Historic Site during the live event weekend, and it was such a great experience. The reenactments and demonstrations really brought history to life, and the staff and volunteers were very knowledgeable. It’s a beautiful place to explore and learn more about the people who lived and traveled through here. Definitely worth the visit!

A wonderful way to spend a day Viewing a historic place. Immersed in history, some of the buildings have been recreated as they once were, you are welcome to walk the grounds and view the buildings, there are also many books about the area. The native people's and the pioneers, as well as a short film, that's very informative.

Great site for adults and kids. Good little visitor center with a 18 minute video in theatre. Barracks, post office, jail, and officer houses were cool to see as they are setup with original articles and are very viewable. Barracks was great with sarsaparilla, root beer, and cream soda available. Be sure to get there by noon for the daily canon firing and informative introduction by park ranger.

It's a gem! Kinda hidden away but it's definitely a place worth visiting if you enjoy history. Tons of artifacts and things to look at. There is some walking so dress accordingly. There isn't much shade from the summer sun so if bring an umbrella for comfort.

Well preserved historic fort where important events in American history occurred. The fort began as a trading post in the 1830s. It was purchased by the U.S. army in 1849 to protect the emigrants traveling to Oregon and California. It is a few miles off of highway 26. I had a little trouble finding the fort as Google maps first had me stop at the iron bridge, saying that was the fort, and it took awhile to figure out that it was much further down the road. It is an excellent site to learn about the U.S. army and Native Americans in the area in the mid-19th century. A nice walking trail loops around the historic buildings. You can go inside most of the buildings and rooms have glass barriers, so you can see the furnished rooms inside. I also liked the displays and photos on the eventual deterioration of the buildings when the fort closed in the 1890s and subsequent excavations and renovations. I highly recommend visiting the fort if old buildings and American history interest you.

Very cool place. Nicely taken cared of. Several buildings and landmarks to look at. Visitor center is nice as well with a cool and very interesting video to watch that takes about 18 minutes. Stamps and stickers available to buy and collect

I highly enjoyed my visit & will definitely be coming back. We spoke with Marilyn & Henry and they answered every question we had, told us backstories on the animals we saw & were so kind and knowledgeable. Highlight of the trip was definitely watching Hunter & Simba cuddle. We found Marilyn after the fact & she told us all about them. On the way home, I googled their story & cried like a baby. 10/10.

Great place to see animals that have been rescued. However, this is not a Zoo and it is 3 miles along an elevated walkway to see the wild cornovors. Weather does also matter. If its hot the big cats like to hide and during the winter some bears like to hibernate. Most animals will likely hide in heat however. The sanctuary staff and volunteers are very nice and they also gave me free Mon binoculars.

This just became one of my favorite places on earth. I had never been to such a wonderful sanctuary where wild animals have so much space to relax and where they look so happy! It’s such a gift to see these majestic animals live with the dignity they deserve even if they have to be in captivity. All of the animals are rescues/unable to live in the wild. They even have a bunch of Tiger King tigers. And there are so many different animals — wolves (it was so interesting to watch the pack dynamics play out in their interactions!), lions, white tigers, orange tigers, lions, bears, foxes, and more. Just make sure to bring BINOCULARS or rent some for $10. And slow down so you can really enjoy the sights and don’t miss the animals, which can be a little hard to spot if you’re walking fast. The walkway is 1.5 miles each way (3 miles total), but yourself ample time — I’d recommend about 5 hours. I arrived at 1pm and they close at 4:30pm because of the winter hours, and I wish I’d gotten there earlier because we had to rush on the way back. Keep in mind you’ll notice different things/animals on the way back too. I also want to add that the volunteers are super kind and helpful. You can tell they’re true animal lovers. I am very much looking forward to returning!

Wow, what a great place and huge! Loved the catwalk. To be able to look down on the animals was amazing. It also allowed you to see the animals in the distance. Like that they handed each group a monoular to help see the animals up close. I do have to say admission is quite expensive but after you see the sanctuary you can understand why.

I stopped going to zoos due to the poor living conditions the animals live in. But this is different. It feels more like a safari where you walk around a 1.5 miles bridge above the enclosures and you can see the animals running around, interacting with one another or sleeping. All of them are rescues, and they all seem well fed. We witnessed the wolves getting fed and were enthralled just looking at them interact with one another. I brought my date here and she loved it. 10/10. I recommend you bring binoculars or rent them at the front, otherwise you might not enjoy the experience as much.

We really liked the sanctuary. It was the first time we’d been there. However, it was really windy that day, so we didn’t go the whole way. The friendly staff member who was on the walkway pointed out some animals that we hadn’t seen. She and the information posts along the way were very informative. Definitely plan to go back. The Lion King display was exceptional.

This place is AMAZING!! I've been multiple times each experience is different than the last. Never gone this late in the year before so I didn't get to see as many bears as I usually do and it was extremely windy but, all the big cats and wolves were out. And it's just wonderful that the animals get to live out the rest of their life in such a wonderful facility.

Wanted a small break on our way to Carlsbad from Denver. Stopped at Angelino's for a pizza and enjoy the fall weather. Not too many shops but the walk was very relaxing. Very dog friendly we were able to take our pup into the patio area for lunch.

Beautifully redesigned by Pueblo. Easy to get to, lots of free parking, a great place to take a stroll, restaurants along the walk, boat rides, public art, and movie in the park.

Water was dingy and gross green. We were there on a.l Saturday evening and expected lots of people and there was hardly anyone even around. Picked a place to go eat and have a drink. Walked in was seated. Waited for about 10 minutes without anyone coming to serve us- so we left and went back to hotel to order in with Door Dash. Would not recommend spending time or money to visit this place to others.

Pretty cool to walk around & explore.. you can ride a tour boat for a cost. Restrooms r on the 3rd floor of main building..

Beautiful place! The boat ride was amazing!

Definitely stop by even if you aren't into trains. Very insightful. Down side is there weren't any trains to look at or tour. So kinda of a let down. The other big boy was at a park a few miles away and fenced off and homeless people hanging around so had to make it quick to see the train.

Small museum inside the historic Cheyenne Train Station. The museum only covers a small portion of the station with the large waiting room coming the most sq feet. This makes for a great quick stop if you are in the area.

This museum is full of information related to building the Union Pacific through Wyoming and its historical operation. A great HO model is upstairs. Adults are $10. Plan to spend 90 minutes there.

a railroad fans HEAVEN. this family friendly museum will make a kid out of even the biggest adult. make sure to go upstairs and enjoy the viewing area, and the model train layout. we spent around 2hrs and still not sure if we saw it ALL

Visiting the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA)is a unique experience that allows you to observe the training of future U.S. Air Force officers and explore its iconic architecture and aviation facilities.

This is a very historic place. There are plenty of sites to see for a military retiree like myself. They have a full commissary and base exchange with many other shops and services. In passing some of the military members and cadets, they were all very, very polite. This is a very land expansive place as it's located in the prairies of Colorado, which makes it very beautiful.

This is one of the best college with discipline comes along with it. As a parent, I am super proud of my son administration into the Air Force Academy.

When people think of the United States Air Force (USAF), they often picture fighter jets, huge cargo planes, and long runways stretching through the desert. But the Air Force also runs some massive bases outside the mainland United States. These sites play a major role in America’s global military presence. Some are in Europe, some in Asia, and one is even near the Arctic Circle.

We visited the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in hopes that our daughter will be attending next year. It is a highly respected institution that is known for producing some of the most dedicated and skilled military officers in the United States Air Force. With a focus on integrity, excellence, and service, the Academy prepares its students to meet the challenges of military service with honor and distinction. Beyond its academic and ethical rigor, the Air Force Academy also offers a vibrant and diverse community for its students. Cadets come from all walks of life, and the Academy prides itself on fostering a sense of camaraderie and belonging. It would be a blessing to be a part of this prestigious academy.

We arrived at the Air Force Academy a couple of weeks ago. They closed down tours to the public in January of 2025. We were not allowed to go in, this is not posted anywhere on their website. Be aware that if you're not a veteran or active military you won't be allowed to take a tour. This would have been very helpful as we planned our trip, we were disappointed.

What an impressive place! Not just the beauty and the organization of it, but the respect for the academy and the respect for the service is present. The size of the grounds is immense, and we only stayed on the roads, not having time to go on any of the walking paths. Even though the chapel is currently closed, we still learned a lot through the visitor's center, and the video they showed was informative as well. Would have loved to have had more time here.

This is a cool zoo. Easy to traverse and handicap accessible however some inclines as to be expected. Under construction during our visit but it didn’t stop us from seeing everything. Spent about 2 hours from start to finish. Love that they do dog days! So fun.

Although under renovation as of November 2025, you can still navigate this zoo without too much disruption. The upgrades will be completed sometime in 2026. The animals look very healthy and have room to move and the natural mountain setting is breathtaking. Anyone not accustomed to the elevation (and even locals) should come prepared with plenty of water for everyone in their party so as to not spoil the fun. The pizza restaurant is great with an enormous oven built in Italy and there are only two in the Western part of the US. If you want to bring your own cooler with lunch, it's allowed and there are multiple areas to set up your picnic. The sky ride up the mountain has an extra cost but it's worth it. There is a nice carousel for the kids for an extra $2. If navigating the mountain is difficult, you can purchase a $3. ticket that is good all day and get picked up and drop off by cart throughout the park. The entrance fee is reasonable so these extra costs are not outrageous. Unless you arrive by a car sharing service, you are required to purchase tickets online in advance because of the limited parking during construction. The Roger's shrine can be accessed by car, but you must get through the gate by 3pm. To see the majority of the park plan on 2-4 hours. Completely worth it! A beautiful retreat.

This is probably THE BEST zoo that we have ever visited! It is so neat and clean! They are doing buy ahead/reservation tickets to help with congestion and that really makes a difference, especially with the animal encounter areas. There are so many interactive places and play areas for children, including a carousel! My daughter had an absolute blast!

The BEST zoo we have been too to date! We LOVED all the animal up close & being able to touch & feed animals. A lot of uphill but totally worth it! They have plenty of benches all over for resting if you get tired easily! Take a rain poncho, backpack, water, snacks. So cool that it is on the mountain. Loved the views. Excited for the new giraffe habitat to get finished to go back & see that! We got to see the new baby gorilla. Baby was definitely the star of the zoo, EVERYONE loved the baby. Too cute. Definitely recommend going to this zoo!

Stuck an amazing environment to bring our girls to! They have had stuck a blast every time we go. Last time the baby wallaby were out and they got to pet them. The staff also let our girls assist them in feeding the reptiles because we were practically the only people in the zoo, so a membership saved us the hassle of waiting in line and scored our 5 girls a once in a lifetime moment contributing to the zoos morning breakfast routine! Such an amazing and unforgettable day!

Came here for my first time & I was blown away by how beautiful the scenery is here. They have a wide variety of animals & you can get pretty close to a lot of them which makes for an amazing experience. My favorite part was definitely feeding the giraffes, they are so gentle & not afraid to come right up to you for a snack. The Australian exhibit was also pretty neat because you're able to get super close to the animals. There's fun for the whole family here & also makes for an enjoyable day for adults too. My only complaint is that they close at 5, so make sure you get there early so you have time to enjoy everything the zoo has to offer!

My family and I love the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It's unique layout up the side of the mountain does lead to a lot of hill climbing, so be prepared for that. It also leads to some amazing views you don't get at other zoos and the sky tram/ski lift that carts you over the animals up to the top is such a unique perspective. The giraffe feeding is also such a cool attraction. There's something for everyone here.

A great experience with lots of beautiful scenery. We explored several landmarks along the trail and got to do a little rock climbing. Great for hiking and just walking around. Elevation is pretty high, being lots of water. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and taking your time. Would be a great place to jog if youre into building stamina.

This place is amazing. You just keep saying "wow" at every turn. There's a central part that's easy to walk and has sidewalks, and if you go early and are quiet - you can spot deer and other wildlife. You may even see permitted climbers working their way up a rock face. There is a lot to see in the center loop; howeverrrrr, if you got your grippy shoes, water, and some snacks... then adventure off into any of the outer trails. They are all a "little to a lot" different from each other (terrain, elevation gain and difficulty, vegetation, etc) buttttttttttttt on any trail you take you will be meandering along when out of nowhere ROCK FORMATION!👁👄👁 The colors of the rocks are mostly red (those are sandstone that used to be dunes) and remind me of Red Rock Canyon in Nevada, but there are also beautiful quartz that look glittery in the sun, obsidian (I think) that looks like black glass, and stones/ rocks that look like someone painted them layer by layer. Sooo many different types of trees and plants. Watch out for the cacti; they're everywhere to the sides of the trails and are no joke (even though they look small). Overall, pretty easy hike on any trail - but you need good shoes or it will get slippery in some spots. Kids could do some of the trails, maybe all - just depends on your kid's endurance and balance. Just the last mile or so can be tough and that was because it was an incline with deep sand... but you can probably exit off of the trail to the main road before that and go a different way. Highly recommend.

Garden of the Gods is absolutely breathtaking! The towering red rock formations against the blue Colorado sky are stunning from every angle. Absolutely gorgeous. It is a free park with well paved trails that offer guided tours for free. You can also walk around at your own leisure. Pictures Absolutely do it no justice. We'll worth the time spent there

Were lucky to come across a group mountain goats during the day time and evening too! Red rock climbing signs are around and need permission with proper gear. Visitor info area with gift shop , cafe and restrooms available A must visit!

Was a cool place! Very large and a lot of animals! This is actually the first zoo I've visited that had Hyenas, so that thoroughly pleased me! They had this awesome Lorikeet section where it is possible to feed them and they can fly on you but you cannot touch them, which I understand. The Primates area was pretty cool got to see Gorillas up close, some orangutans, I'm not too sure about the Mandrill section but they seemed sad, plus there was a sign saying they've been expressing strange behaviors. OOHHH and they had an area with an Eye eye that was neat. The zoo is actually so large, it was difficult to navigate around even with a map, but not a negative. They just closed a bit early for my liking. They closed at 4 and we were only about... 75% through the park? Also a bit of construction going on. Oh and another awesome thing was all the squirrels and Rabbits roaming all around the park

Our trip to the Denver Zoo was an absolute blast! The grounds are beautiful, clean, and easy to walk through — you can tell the staff really cares about the animals and the guests. The Denver Zoo is absolutely amazing! 🐘 Every visit feels like a new adventure. The Denver Zoo is a really nice zoo with a large variety of animals and well-designed exhibits. It’s clean, organized, and a fun place for families, especially kids who love seeing wildlife up close. That said, I’ve always had mixed feelings about zoos. I really don’t believe animals should be held captive, especially when so many species belong in wide, natural habitats instead of enclosures. But I’ll never forget something one of my students once said to me. I told them I didn’t really support zoos, and he raised his hand and said, “But Ms. Fiskus, if there were no zoos, then people wouldn’t be able to see the animals and gain empathy for them. And without empathy, less people would want to help them.” And honestly, that stuck with me. It’s a good point. Zoos can help with education, awareness, and conservation when done responsibly. So while I’m torn about the ethics, the Denver Zoo itself is very nice, and it does a lot to teach people about wildlife and conservation. I prefer an African safari.

We have gone to the zoo twice this month for Boo at the zoo. The first night was great fun. The lights everywhere were amazing. The second night there were some lights but they were mostly turned off. That was disappointing. But, we had a great family and friends outing. The first night not being able to see the animals in the dark was a bummer. The second night we went earlier and we were able to see some of the animals. The seals are my favorite. Since they would only let us go one way around the zoo we didn't get to see any of the seals, penguins etc.

These are very loved animals. I have been to some zoos where the animals look like they haven’t ate in a while or they are very stressed and/or in a small enclosure. At the Denver zoo, all the animals enclosures were just big enough for the animals to survive and not stressed. I liked how we could get close to the wallaby’s and ask the near by staff questions about the animals.

My recent trip was fantastic, and I was especially impressed by the way the Gardens blend natural beauty with thoughtful, modern design. The Science Pyramid is a major highlight—the hexagonal, honeycomb exterior is a striking piece of architecture (as seen in the photos!) that beautifully introduces the concepts of biomimicry and conservation science. I visited the Denver Botanic Gardens on November 10th, and it was an absolute highlight of the autumn season! The gardens were bursting with vibrant fall colors—reds, oranges, and golds everywhere you looked, creating a stunning natural palette that’s perfect for this time of year. It’s like a peaceful oasis right in the heart of the city, where you can escape the hustle and bustle and just immerse yourself in tranquility. I loved every moment of it and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a serene, beautiful escape! We’ll definitely be back.

The Denver botanic gardens is a wonderful oasis in a busy city neighborhood. We love all of the landscape design and attention to detail. While it was crowded on a weekend, there was plenty of room in the beautiful landscaped areas and walkways to see and enjoy this botanic garden. They have a wonderful shop with some beautiful handicrafts and gifts that are nature-themed. It definitely was worth it making a trip to this beautiful garden.

So beautiful. Even if you have no interest in gardening yourself, an oasis of calm and beauty, with a koi pind and water features. perfect for a mini break in your day, with free parking! nice little cafe, too. When its snowing, the green houses are magical. If you do garden, or love houseplants, you will be inspired. I treated myself to a membership. So worth it, because i can stop in for a quick zen break whenever im in the neighborhood .

Came to the Denver Botanic Gardens on my Denver Trip on the 5th November 2025. An absolutely beautiful viewing for all to see! There are a range of plants to come and observe here, I am not a plant expert but I’m sure one of those would have an even better time here than I did. I did go in November so maybe it is better in the summer too? But it was really hot when I went so I had a good time! Worth going to!

Going to a botanical garden in late fall is always a gamble, however I was so impressed by the well maintained gardens. They were organized by theme, and each space inspired a sense of reflection. My absolute favorite part was the orangery which smelled heavenly! I would definitely go back for either the lights or when more plants are growing!

No water fountains that i saw.Disabled parking fills more than an hour before game starts.Very well organized and courteous people.$23 parking and easy to get out in first 15 Minutes.Bus to transport inside parking but there is a line.One side of stadium be third baseline had shadow whole The rest was baking hot.No long bathroom lines! Very expensive beer $11-15.Ne careful what seats you buy. Disabled people have personal assistants and for those using a walker is very difficult cu hold on to bars when descending on stairs because of wrong spacing of bars.Please Avoid the stairs if you have a cane.

The park was clean and comfortable. All seats provided excellent viewing. Multiple vendors offered a variety of services and prices that were reasonable. I would highly recommend this park of you love baseball.

Coors Field is one of the best ballparks around! The atmosphere is always incredible - from the mountain views to the energy of the crowd, it’s such a fun experience whether you’re a big baseball fan or just there for a great day out. The stadium is clean, the staff is friendly, and the food and drink options never disappoint. As a local real estate agent in Northern Colorado, I love spending time here with family and clients - it’s a perfect example of what makes living in Colorado so enjoyable. If you’re in the Denver area, catching a game at Coors Field is an absolute must! ⚾️🌄

Fun way to spend the afternoon! Even better when the Rockies win! Did you know that you can make reservations for the Mountain Ranch Bar & Grille and for $32 a person you can sit inside/outside in the shade and comfy seats and eat at the buffet. Don’t tell anyone about this cool, secret spot!

Beautiful stadium. We want to a day game so it got pretty hot. If you are attending a day game, consider tickets towards the back of a section that has a cover. Loved that they had sunscreen at the first aid stations and had water refill stations. We enjoyed the view from the roof and by the bullpens before we sat in our seats. I also loved that they had a kids food area with very reasonable prices! It’s right by the playground. Entertainment between innings could be more exciting.

This is a great ballpark. It is gorgeous inside and out. It has a timeless look and feel. It’s so inviting you feel like Babe Ruth played there. It’s located a mile high above sea level and the views are amazing. I would highly recommend and you should buy some merch at the on site store and the food is fantastic and reasonably priced.

Coors Field is one of the most beautiful ballparks in the country. There is truly nothing like the views of the Rocky Mountains from the stands sunset games are unbelievable. The atmosphere is fun, relaxed, and very “Colorado,” and it’s the perfect place to catch a Rockies game on a nice day. Great stadium, great vibes, and absolutely iconic mountain views.

If you visit Denver, Colorado, visit the 16th Street Mall. There are different food options to choose from, and you can take a nice walk.

This was disappointing. I am a big supporter of pedestrianized streets and place making but this feels like it has failed to live up to it's potential. The center of the wide street is left open, possibly reserved for buses, though we never saw any. While some very nice and cute seating and other features have been created on the sidewalks the failure to utilize the majority of the street leaves it feeling a bit barren. Also the stores along the street are often chains like H&M & Target and not the mix of interesting smaller local shops you'll find on Boulder's Pearl Street or Linden St. in Ft. Collins. Still worth checking out after visiting the Capitol or the great History & Art Museums on the other side of the park as there seems to be some decent dining options, including outdoor dining, but it could be so much more.

16th Street was ok. It’s a Friday and overcast so not much people out. But if you like to drink alcohol there’s plenty of places for that. Good place to take walk.

This is a lovely place to spend a day. I enjoyed all the boutique shops, the restaurants, and even passed through a few places just to people watch for a while. Quite the gatherings here on weekends. But you can visit any day of the week and I guarantee you’ll have a good time. Check out the bowling alley for extra fun.

Denver’s 16th Street Mall is a 1.7-mile pedestrian corridor in downtown, offering shopping, dining, and entertainment. The free shuttle makes getting around easy, and nearby attractions include the Central Library and Paramount Theatre. Renovations have improved the area, though visitors should be mindful of occasional safety concerns.

A little history here before I begin my review. In the 1990s the 16th Street Mall was a hub for social interactions and shopping galore. Many who lived in the Downtown area would enjoy the peace and serenity of the 16th Street Mall at night. The 16th Street Mall has been rebuild and redesign twice now in Denver's history. With that said. Unfortunately, when Colorado legalized marijuana in the 2000s is when the 16th Street Mall became a liability to those that went there. Gangs, homeless drug addicts, and crime increased and many clean and sober hard working taxpayers didn't feel safe unless they were carrying a side arm for protection. One couldn't escape the smell of marijuana that enveloped the Mall from all the smoking done there. Many businesses closed up as a result of less foot traffic meaning customers were far and few. Even tourist dared not travel the Mall at night. From news reports in 2025 that I have read about the rebuild of the 16th Street Mall now just 16th Street. The Mall part was dropped under a $100k ad blitz. My wife and I had to move from Denver to Minnesota in 2019, but do remember the 16th Street Mall of old before marijuana legalization.

All of the construction to widen the side walks, so many businesses are closed, it was disappointing. And there are so many homeless people, it was concerning. In the city's effort to make the area better, I feel they actually made it worse.

I had the pleasure of visiting New Belgium Brewery in Fort Collins with my daughter, my partner, and her family — and let me just say, this place exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was electric but relaxed. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and impressively knowledgeable about the beers, which made the whole tasting experience even more enjoyable. We started off with a couple of flights to get a sense of the variety, and it was hard to pick a favorite — they were that good. But once I did, I stuck with a few pours of my top picks, and every sip was a reminder of how expertly crafted their beer is. There was a Mexican food truck on-site that seriously blew us away. The food was fresh, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the beers. The indoor space was welcoming and full of energy, but it’s the outdoor area that really shines — wide open, dog-friendly, and full of life with kids running around, families laughing, and groups just enjoying the day. It felt like the backyard party you always want to be invited to. This wasn’t just a trip to a brewery — it was an experience. One of those rare places that nails everything: the beer, the food, the vibe, the people, the setting. I’d come back in a heartbeat, and I’ll be telling everyone I know to make the trip. New Belgium, you’ve got something special going on. Keep doing exactly what you’re doing.

Just a short walk from the middle of Old Town, New Belgium Brewery is worth the trip. Whether you are a fan of Fat Tire or just like to try some new beer varieties, there is something for everyone here. The large, open, outside area is an awesome place to sit and enjoy the wonderful Colorado climate and delicious beers. There was a food truck for snacking and plenty of NB paraphernalia in the gift shop.

Guessing that this is in everyone's list of breweries to visit in town. If not it should be. Fabulous facility with beautiful grounds and a relaxing vibe. All of the usual NB beers on tap and several other must-haves. The sThe staff was very accommodating and happy to engage in conversation and answer many of the same questions they get asked over and over again. Make it a stop. You won't regret it!

Got a case of beer from Costco and there's like 1 that is drinkable. The rest is fine if you like some mystery flavor. Maybe it's raspberry maybe it's dead orphan meat. Ohh this one is a nappy beer with a hint of collection of nail clippings. The worst purchase I've ever made beer wise. And I have made quite a few poor decisions in my day.

I went on this beer tour in 2022 and was so impressed that I brought a bachelor party back here in 2025. The space is beautiful, the tour is interesting (though hot for the first section, so be prepared), and for your money you get a lot of delicious beer. If you’re interested in beer or how anything is made, it’s a don’t miss. Make sure to buy tickets well in advance - they sell out fast.

This brewery has one of the nicer outside spaces; it is very open and vast. I never felt like I was sitting on top of anyone . The beer selection was great and the flights were super smooth. Overall it was a great time and I’ll definitely be back!

We went to this brewery while doing a roadtrip. We did a tour with Cynthia. It was perfect ! We absolutely loved the tour ! Very interesting and fun. I love that you get to see from the beginning to the very end of the process. We stayed after to enjoy a beer. Cynthia was very nice ! The outside area is very nice and the beers are very good ! Definitely would recommend. We even left with suggestions of what to do in Fort Collins ! Would defintely recommend to visit this place and take the tour !

Amazing and crazy drive up to the peak. The drive down was even crazier. There is basically no guardrail! Every time we turned, there was another great view. The observatory at the peak was great and you can find donuts at the gift shop. They are overpriced but good. It was a little difficult for us during our visit because of the altitude but it was still great. It's windy so bring a jacket during the colder months. Be sure to use the lower gears while descending so that your brakes don't burn out. There's a check point that checks the brake temperature, so you don't end up on the evening news. So awesome!

Very very special experience, for drive my own car to such elevation 4300m above sea level. There are lots of hair-pin curves, and steep uphills on the road, some part of road near cliff, so you may require some driving skill.

Best motorcycle ride ever. Amazing views everywhere. Just beware of gust of wind that hits all of sudden. Five minutes of calm then 5 seconds of what seems like a wall of air.

It is just an absolutely stunning drive up to the peak. It does take a while so account for that and have sunscreen. If you’re sensitive to altitude sickness get the canned air. And anticipate it to be way colder at the top than you expect.

We rented a hybrid jeep and it worked great on the drive to the top and the coasting to the bottom. The visitor center is great with plenty of restrooms and food choices. We had two kids and a dog and everyone was feeling the altitude a bit at the top. Nothing too bad for us but there were some older people that were clearly struggling. We took our time on the way down and stopped everywhere we could to take in the views.

Absolutely breathtaking! We originally planned to take the train but decided not to—and I’m so glad we still went. The drive up offers incredible views, though it might be challenging for those with a fear of heights. The visitor center is beautiful, and the scenery alone makes the trip worthwhile. We visited in July, and it was very windy, so be sure to dress in layers!

What a beautiful place to be. Line to enter was okay. It was about 15min wait. We got our ticket and started driving. Uphill drive is not too bad. Loved every bit of it. You have to experience this in person. The pictures and videos do not do justice. The drive to the peak Is about 45 minutes. Follow the rules and take it easy. You’ll be fine. There’s parking available once you are on the top. There’s also a cafe, bathrooms. The cafe line was pretty long but moving quickly. We tried their famous donuts, coffee and popcorn. The hot chocolate was delicious. The popcorn was fresh. The donuts were devoured by the kids. Sooooo good. The view is spectacular. Oxygen levels are low and you do feel nauseous and dizzy once you are up there. Drink lots of water, rest, take breaks. The weather is also colder so do dress in layers. The drive downhill is tricky. Use low gear, don’t ride your brakes and go slow. Enjoy the view. Overall it was an amazing experience. Do check them out.

Our first visit to this state park. Visiting from out of state. Decided that we love to hike and wanted to see what this state has. It's a beautiful park. Has many trails and places to walk. You definitely want to be prepared. Water is essential. Didn't see much wildlife but I know when we were hiking it was a bit warm. Visitor Center was nice. The team of workers are very thoughtful and friendly. Last note. If you are walking to the visitor center. Look at the path on the left. It's a small road. But easier to walk if you have mobility issues.

Gorgeous Park! The visitors center is worth the slight uphill climb. I did the shortest trail and the views were beautiful. Can't wait to visit again and do a more challenging trail!

Loved this park! We went on a Sunday afternoon in October and we had to wait about 10 mins until a few cars left (the max is 100 cars at a time). It was a beautiful park and we talked to the nicest lady at the visitor center. We hiked a 3 mile loop from there and had some beautiful views! This is a hidden gem and you should check it out if you’re in the area!

Beautiful and don't clime on the rocks they are very serious about conservation. Still definitely worth the hike. it's very easy and all reward unless you go off trail I saw a hole family getting tickets last time I was there. Be safe and enjoy the vew

BEAUTIFUL! What a day hiking around this park in late spring. Wildflowers, lots of trails and what a view! We arrived early on a gorgeous Saturday morning and spent the day wandering around. My personal highlight of the day was the bull snake hauling tail across a path. This snake had places to go and vermin to eat. This is a no dog park. Lucky for you if you didn't check the website for alerts, regulations and need to knows. There is a for a fee dog kennel right outside an entrance for you to drop fido off while you hike around. I have no idea how quickly it fills up. The ranger station is a beautiful building with excellent interpretive displays. The display on how many years your litter takes to break down is eye opening and yes, this includes pistachio shells. Small gift shop in the station with the essential stickers, t-shirts and postcards. #COParksPassport

Roxborough State Park is absolutely amazing. The trails are super clean and well maintained, and I found them really easy to walk, perfect for a peaceful day out in nature. It wasn’t too busy when I went, which made the experience even better. The scenery is stunning, those red rock formations are just beautiful. Whether you’re hiking or just looking to relax in a quiet, natural setting, this place is a hidden gem.

An absolutely beautiful park, don't be fooled by the entrance area which is flat. A relatively easy walk, and easy to make as long or short as you like. Loved this park for its rock formations.....and beautiful sky and cloud features when we were there. Easy to get to as well.

Great tour! So glad we did it! Our tour guide Mark”? was great! He seemed genuinely excited about the history of the mine and was easy to listen to. I was hesitant about the elevator ride down after reading other reviews, but it wasn’t too bad. Tight as sardines if you are claustrophobic you should know that. Also, the ride down & back up is about 95% dark and the elevator rattles & rocks slightly. But worth the trip down/up. Very educational and the hour went by quickly.

What an adventure! The Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine tour was an unforgettable experience, taking us 1000 feet underground into the heart of Colorado’s gold mining history. Our guide was fantastic—informative, funny, and super kind. He made the whole tour even better, and he even snuck us some extra gold ore along with the free pieces you get to pick from at the end! 😉 The tour itself was fascinating. You vertically descend 100 stories into the mine, ride an underground tram, and get to see gold veins in their natural state. The mining equipment demonstrations were really cool, and it gave us a great appreciation for what the miners went through back in the day. Plus, it’s only a short and easy walk underground. After the mines, I highly recommend heading into Cripple Creek town—the food there is so good, and there are tons of cute stores to shop around. It’s the perfect way to round out the day! If you’re in Cripple Creek, you have to do this tour. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to dive into Colorado’s rich mining history—plus, who doesn’t love free gold ore?!

For quick summary details, go to bottom of review. This was an absolutely outstanding tour of the mines. Not only do you get to see mines, but you get to see equipment used, and a demonstration. Also, our tour guide, Mark, was extremely great at the tour. He was making some jokes while going through the tour and just causing some laughs while explaining each part of the mines in great detail and expertise. And on top of the mines experience back at the gift shop, no pun intended, the staff were excellent, understanding, and kind. And bathrooms are very nice and clean. To any staff that see this, I appreciate your kindness and respect. Also, I suggest bringing a jacket, as it's a nice 50° F in the mines, or be like my crazy Texan mind and not even bring a jacket to Colorado! First tour down in to a mine. Was a great time and very informative. Well worth the price of admission and the trip just to see it. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Cripple Creek is just below the mine and your able to over look a working mine next door. Also you can start the phantom canyon road from here which will take you about 2 hours to travel.

I visited the Mollie Kathleen mine tour in May of 2023. I thought it was great, with lots of educational demonstrations and explanations as well as just really cool being in tunnels that deep underground. Heads up that the trip down is cramped, so just be prepared; though they do warn you about it ahead of time on the website. If you visit, I strongly suggest after the tour going across the street to the heritage center and seeing the scale model of the Mollie Kathleen mine; it really gives you a nice sense of scale for the tour.

What an amazing place! It is definitely worth the drive up there. Sarah - our guide - is the sweetest person, she’s so knowledgeable, professional & friendly! Don’t worry, if you’re claustrophobic, it’s not that bad. It’s a 2 min elevator ride to the bottom, and the tour down there is just outstanding. This gold mine has been operational since 1891! It’s cold up there, so keep yourself warm.

This was easily one of the best stops on our trip. The views were absolutely beautiful. We had a tour guide with us who was very knowledgeable about the area and the theatre itself. It's a bit of an intense hike up, but it's well-worth the climb. Gift shop is at the top as well as a wall with everyone who has performed there, and a history section. It was really fun and I would go again. Definitely something everyone should see.

Incredible landmark. The layout is amazing even if you are just visiting for views or exercise. The trails around the park provide great views all around. The inside has a lovely gift shop, nice restrooms and awesome museum style set up for education on the location. This place was so awesome, I visited twice this trip.

A Must-See Colorado Gem! I visited Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre at the end of summer, and it was absolutely breathtaking. The natural rock formations are stunning, and the views of Denver from the top are incredible. The amphitheater itself is iconic standing there feels like being part of music history. The hiking trails were well-maintained and offered a great mix of scenery and exercise. Parking was easy, and the staff were friendly and helpful. If you go, make sure to catch a sunset; it’s magical! Whether you’re here for a concert, a workout, or just to soak in the beauty, Red Rocks is an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Colorado!

Magnificent amphitheater from the surroundings to the engineering and design. If you ever get the opportunity to see a concert or service….go. Amphitheater looks to the east so sunrise services are spectacular and one is not looking into the sun for evening concerts. We were there and they were testing the sound system…. Quite impressive in an empty amphitheater. Take a look at the museum below and see the hall of fame performers.

Always delivers! Visit and experience the museum! The restaurant is also really good with plenty of outdoor seating. Love the history and that it is completely accessible to the public. There are also miles and miles of trails to enjoy the stunning beauty! If you are lucky enough to go to an actual concert, it is super!

Tuesday, September 30th was our second visit to this amazing facility, and we were really hoping to meet more of the wolves. Our first encounter had been with Isha and Orenda, so we went back to their enclosure to start. As luck would have it, someone brought a dog that day, and since the wolves were at the top of the hill, we were moved to a different enclosure, and that’s when we got to meet Luna and Amarok! My husband and I were beyond excited. Luna was so affectionate, she let me give her belly rubs and showered both of us with kisses. My husband also shared a special moment with Amarok, who gave him kisses for nearly a full minute! 🐺💛 I’m so grateful we were able to share this experience with such incredible animals. We’ve decided to make the “Meet and Greet” a yearly tradition from now on.

My daughter and I absolutely adored our visit here! We did the VIP encounter and had a once in a lifetime experience ❤️ From scheduling to our interaction with Isha and Orenda, our guides Phoebe and Ariel, our day was incredible! The wolves, coyotes and foxes were all so well cared for and happy. The grounds and pens were immaculate! We came in from Texas and will be back, hopefully over and over again! Please tell Isha and Orenda hello, we love them and give them lots of kisses from us! And again, THANK YOU for a beautiful visit!

Amazing and educational visit to a facility that helps save the lives of wolves who cannot be released back into the wild as well as advocates for wolf conservation. I was able to meet and be inside the pen with two red foxes and three wolves under the direction and supervision of two knowledgeable and dedicated staff members and loved the experience of being around these smart and persecuted animals. The general tour provided great information about the mass extermination of wolves early on, the gradual reintroductions, and the current state of laws protecting wolves (or allowing them to be hunted). I highly recommend this excellent organization for wolf education and tours.

I had a wonderful experience at the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center to cap off a week long vacation prior to driving back to Omaha, NE on Oct 14. I sent in information on a Monday afternoon and got a call back to book the VIP experience for the next day within a half hour. Got it booked and verified dress code requirements before I got off the phone. The main tour started off with a 10-15 minute discussion about conservation and the struggles it's facing and current laws (or lack there of) regarding wolf treatment. It was prefaced with it being depressing content, so I wouldn't see that as a negative I see in other comments. It's the grim reality and I appreciated the detail as it got me interested in what I could do to help. That aside, the guide (I believe his name was Kirk, but I could be wrong) was very knowledgeable and did a great job at each enclosure giving details about each wolf and/or pair. The wolves were very active coming to the gate, being excited for treats, and were at least in site in each enclosure. It was mid October, so the weather was perfect for them to be out. They seemed to be happy and healthy despite what other comments might say. There were strict tour rules to follow, but they're easy. After the main tour, I got the VIP experience and got to meet Krypton (wolf dog) and Zarah (full wolf) for about 20 minutes. That was wonderful. The guides were very gracious about making sure it was worthwhile for me. The wolves played in front of me, on top of me, and didn't mind the interaction with me at all. They were friendly with Krypton enjoying the pets quite a bit. I got a chance to feed both as well as pictures were taken. Overall, it was worth it for me. I got to pet a wolf. That's just cool. It's a great educational experience. Like any animal sanctuary or zoo, the activity of the animals may vary. I came on a great day and I am thankful for that. My VIP experience could have been very different if no wolf was feeling social. The website states that could be the case. I got lucky. Just be mindful that your experiences could vary, but I recommend giving the tour a try. It was a highlight of my trip for sure.

Truly one of a kind facility and experience that is perfect for all ages. The receptionist, Charity, was polite, efficient, and knowledgeable when booking a feeding-tour for my mother and I. The tour-guides were personable, engaging, and informative. The facility is well kept and accessible. It is comforting knowing fees are being put back into facility operations and expansions. A reasonably priced memorable experience that everyone should have!

Excellent place to visit! Great education and animal management and staff. The Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center is accredited by the AZA (Association of Zoos & Aquariums) — not even all zoos and aquariums have this accreditation! The AZA ensures excellent standards are met for animal health and welfare. I was so happy to visit and help support this great organization. The animals are easy to see, but I'm glad I also had binoculars for more zoomed in photos. I will absolutely be back again!

Did the bucket list item and paid for the VIP treatment and got to pat feed and get kisses from 2 wolves best experience ever forever greatful for these majestic creatures ❤️ beautiful grounds with foxes too. Very educational as well. Its sad to think there are not many wolves left in the wild due to hunting and illegal trapping.

Great little museum that highlights Buffalo Bill, his shows and his positive impact on the people around him. Great displays of saddles, cloths, guns and guns from his colorful life. Cost is very reasonable and The Cody burial site (he and his wife) is just a short walk up the hill.

The museum was interesting and the tickets were extremely reasonable at $5/piece. Gives you access to real bathrooms as well, which was better than the porta potty options outside. The museum had a lot to see and read, along with the gravesite outside. Spent about 30-45 minutes here. The view was nice from up there as well.

I was driving along I-70 W from Denver when I spotted the sign for Buffalo Bill’s Grave and decided to take a spontaneous detour . One of the best road trip decisions I’ve made! The drive up Lookout Mountain took about 10 minutes and I even made a quick stop for amazing ground coffee at Et Voila French Bakery nearby. There’s no admission fee to visit the grave and the site has plenty of free parking. You can easily walk around or just stop at one of the scenic overlooks for a breathtaking 360 degree view of the mountains and Denver below. It’s immediately clear why Buffalo Bill himself wanted to be buried here the view alone is worth the trip. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to visit the museum, but the historic grave, the peaceful setting and the panoramic views made it absolutely worthwhile. A real piece of American history, beautifully preserved and easy to access. Perfect quick stop for anyone traveling along I-70! Tip: Bring a camera — the views and the monument are incredibly photogenic.

Happened to see the sign for this when traveling to Idaho Springs so I went to take a look & was not disappointed! I had heard the name Buffalo Bill but certainly did not know what an impact he had on this area. it was a lot of fun to explore the museum and see the mountain towns from the overlook.

Very cool little museum. Tons of personal artifacts from the Cody family and lots of good Buffalo Bill history. Wish the gift shop and cafe were still open. Good little stop outside of Denver and you can explore the Denver Mountain parks.

Before visiting I had a good idea of who Buffalo Bill was but after visiting here. Wow, this guy was something truly amazing and lived quite the life. The museum had a ton of amazing artifacts, guns, Native American artifacts and even stuff to keep the tweens busy. I would visit again if I come back to Golden again. Highly suggest checking this out and the view is quite amazing up there! 😎

Our first trip to Denver, and this was a must see. The museum is quiet, clean, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the museum and the surrounding area. The view was breathtaking, literally. If you have ANY sort of fear of heights at all, I don't recommend the trip up, or the lookout area. For us though, it was great and I do think everyone that can handle the height should experience this.

Absolutely wonderful area to have a drink, eat, shop, or just wander around looking at people. Lots of the restaurants on the mall have patios or rooftop decks. They have banned on the bricks every Wednesday night during the summer. Very festive atmosphere! We loved it!

One of the top fav places in the world From the bricks... To quintessential shops...tasting honey... Tulips in the spring that go from one end to the other... Gorgeous views...especially from Avanti...and the creek... Gotta love those street performers... Never gets old

This is a first time at the Pearl Street mall, and what a great vibe. The shops were so cute, and what an amazing variety. We had lunch down there as well, and it was delicious. Such a lovely spot!

Bring your wallet and your dancing shoes! This strip is full of great artisanal shops and delicious food options. The lively atmosphere and street performers make this a great evening hangout. Be ready to dance to some local musicians and help get the dance circle going! Or if you’re lucky, the zip-code man may be there to blow your mind with his thorough knowledge about anywhere/everywhere in America.

Pearl Street Mall is a fun, walkable spot with a great mix of shops, restaurants, and coffee spots. It has a lively but relaxed vibe, making it a great place to wander for a few hours. Whether you're grabbing a coffee, browsing unique stores, or just people-watching, there's always something interesting going on. The street itself is charming, with plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. The only downside is parking—it can be tricky to find a good spot, especially on busy days. But if you're in Boulder, it's definitely worth checking out!

Loved loved loved this park. Several trails to choose from with absolutely beautiful mountain, city and sunrise/sunset views. It is quite busy and parking is limited, shuttles are available. It is Free... and even so I would definitely pay to use this park.

Chautauqua Park – Boulder’s Must-See Escape Chautauqua Park is pure Boulder magic. 🌿 The Flatirons rise dramatically above you, and Gregory Canyon offers a quieter, more peaceful trail if you want to step away from the crowds. Here’s the insider tip: go on a weekday. Parking is far less stressful, the trails are calmer, and you really get to soak in the beauty without the weekend rush. If you need trail snacks or a little post-hike fuel, Whole Foods Market is close by, and if you’re here on a Wednesday, the Boulder Farmers Market is just a 5-minute drive or a scenic 25-minute walk from the park. Fresh fruit, local bites, and mountain views? Yes, please. Between the hikes, the views, and the Boulder charm, Chautauqua is an absolute must if you want to experience the heart of the Rockies. 🌄

Wow! 🤩 We loved coming here. The park was a lot of fun for the kiddos and the trails were really beautiful. We liked the variety of easy vs hard trails and the different pathways that you can take.

The cabins are very pleasant. Clean and comfortable Rustic but with wifi and in summertime you can sit outside and listen to the concerts in the Chautauqua concert venue. The paths on either side of the village of cabins are perfect good for a short hike or wood up to the mountain top. I saw bear cat, which means bears usually and a beautiful dear couple hugging the road - people safety- and that buck had a very big rack. Well it’s still there pretty much as it’s always been. I highly recommend a visit. A few of the cabins are privately owned so that gives the atmosphere appear something better than a campground. There’s an ice cream shop so be prepared to put on a pound and the restaurant is good for a few meals at least before you get tired. I hope their menu coffee is goodand so is the breakfast

We waited until late afternoon to go, when the parking lot wasn't so full. The hike, though rated easy, might be a little challenging for some. Just take your time and you'll get to the turnaround on the Chautauqua trail around the .85 mile mark. After that, it's mostly downhill! Make sure you have plenty of water.

Absolutely beautiful trails here. Did the Royal arch trail, and it is one of the most beautiful in Colorado! Very tough, but worth the pain to make it to the view!

I feel this is a Must Go! And if you're smart about it you can get cheap tickets to ride instead of paying full price. It's a short ride to the top where you'll find a small cafe and gift shop. I recommend having lunch then taking the hike to the summit! The 360 views are Spectacular, who knew Estes is actually so BIG. All the staff was Super Friendly too. Great way to spend an afternoon!

The tram was a lot of fun and the operators were super friendly and very pleasant to chat with. At the top it's worth trying to hike up to the summit for some amazing views of the valley. The cafe was well maintained and had a decent menu. We weren't hungry but did pick up a coffee and hot cocoa. They also have alcoholic beverages but it was morning so had to pass. Prices are reasonable and online with what you'd expect. Tram was a lot of fun and gorgeous views!

The ride was 5 minutes in a small compartment with no seats. View was nice going up. Cafe was closed, but the small souvenir shop was open (with bathrooms). The views were nice but I was expecting more snow-capped mountains. Nice, but not really worth the price.

The views are nothing short of breathtaking—you get a panoramic look at Estes Park, the valley, and the mountains that feels like stepping right into a postcard. What really made the trip unforgettable, though, was the staff. They were just as amazing as the view itself—friendly, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about making sure every guest had a great time. From start to finish, you feel well taken care of. If you’re in Estes Park, this is a must-do. Whether you’re here for the scenery, the adventure, or simply to soak in the beauty of Colorado, the tramway delivers on all fronts. I’d go back in a heartbeat!

Hello Everyone, Now going up to the Tramway was amazing. I have been going to Estes Park for such a long time. I did not realize that this was in that location. Such beautiful site to see make sure you take a backpack, snacks, sunscreen, water, and enjoy the view. They have picnic tables and a gift shop and serve sandwich, snacks, and sweets. now you do have to pay for parking, which is $6.50 for four hours. But you can stay at this location and ride the last cart down. 3.25 time ride going up T 3h

This was our favorite activity in Estes Park. Highly recommend going in early morning. The crowds were coming in as we were finishing up. The hike at the top was the best of our trip with beautiful 360 views.

If you are in Estes this is an absolute must do! We booked tickets online in the car park when we arrived and were in a cable car 10 minutes later. The cars are 70 years old but the cables and gear are very modern. The ride up top is spectacular and the cafe and gift shop at the top give panoramic views of the city and the Rocky Mountains.

This was great for a day trip and I can say as a native had never realized they did tours! We walked in on the hour and were able to join the tour group but after us it was full so I would recommend getting there 20 min early or on weekends making a reservation. A short bus ride to the tunnel entrance and then a tour from the top to the bottom of the mill. We learned A LOT. I would say if you have mobility or breathing issues this isn’t the place to go. Your time in the mine tunnel is short as is the distance you can travel inside it. The mill is dusty and there are tons of crazy old stairs. The price for the tour was a little steep $30 for adults and $20 for kids plus they state the tour guides work on tips. It was a full 1+ hours with the tour and the gold panning. I would totally recommend but there are going to be people who don’t feel the price is worth it. Also note that no gold was found here it was merely a tunnel for transporting it to the mill. There are lots of other mines to visit in the area too.

Overall a great tour! Understanding the logistics and economics involved, considering halving the maximum tour size. Our guide would start talking in the next area before half of the folks on our tour were able to get there. But he was very informative and knowledgeable. Also, think about adding captions to the video tour show before the tour ends.

Such a fun and unique experience! You get to explore a bit of the mines and learn a lot about the history of gold mining in Colorado along the way. Yes, you do get to look for gold. A slight disclaimer, you will only find 1 - 3 specs and it is in a separate basin. However, it's fun and informative nonetheless.

I had an absolute blast at Argo Mill & Tunnel in Idaho Springs! Our tour guide Sam was fantastic knowledgeable, engaging, and full of enthusiasm. He brought the history to life and made sure everyone was included. The tour was hands on and fun, from the breathtaking mill structure to gold panning in the final pit. If you enjoy local history and a bit of adventure, this one’s a must do with an awesome guide at the helm.

We were provided information on the mine, mining process and gold processing. You will walk through the old gold mill and get a glimpse of the ARGO water drainage and cart train tunnel. You are also provided a pan of sand to pan for some gold flakes you can keep. While interesting, I'm not sure it is worth the $30 a piece for entry.

Fun experience, different from other mine tours. Kids loved that gold panning was a part of it. Running water and bathrooms before and after tour. FYI- with the ongoing construction and updates, the roads in may differ from your gps/map.

It was a great time. Got to learn a lot about the area and the mine. Thomas was our guide and really helped make the experience that more awesome with all the knowledge of the site new and old. I wouldn’t skip the experience and can’t wait to come back and see the expansion of the Argo going up the mountain.

Very interesting people have stayed here. The renovations are amazing. They still make brooms. We spent about two hours but had to leave as they were closing.

Very interesting history. Even better if you enjoy visiting prisons of the past n how they were run. The first with a women's wing (2 cells only, n they never left it). It could appear that the guards were also "prisoners" while working. Butch Cassidy has his own exhibit inside. There's a broom making Factory out back, that still handmakes n sells the brooms. When the prison closed it was turned into a farm. It bk is a tropics town. Definately worth visiting. A thorough visit can take 3-4 hrs.

Stayed overnight waiting to see it. We didn't think it was worth it. The "tour guide" said, let me know if you have any questions. The lady working in the broom making didn't even acknowledge us. It was just ok. Cool to say we went. But not sure I would have stayed overnight to see it.

Hubby & I visited this place and took the guided tour. Our guide was very good and told stories of several inmates that were incarcerated there. One of the most famous was Butch Cassidy. Recommend visiting if in the Laramie area.

Explored the Wyoming Territorial Prison, once home to the famous outlaw Butch Cassidy. From the old cells to the barns, wagons, and mill work, it was fascinating to see how prisoners lived—creating brooms, building furniture, and caring for animals. A true step back into the Wild West

Really good historical site. The guide was well versed on everything there. Would highly recommend.

Really found this to be a neat place to experience and it was interesting to learn about that time period and about some of the male and female prisoners that were held there.
