Always the best fresh cheese curds string cheese and fudge, I highly recommend Rudolph Cheese Factory will be sharing with my family and friends
John S — Google review
I have been blessed to come here hundreds of times over my life and can say these are not just the best curds in the state but in the country. All of the other selections of cheese are just fantastic as well. I love the whips, various selection of Italian cheeses and the delicious chocolate shoppe ice cream on the side.
Matthew P — Google review
Great variety and delicious cheese. Prices are average. Staff is rude, but cheese is awesone
BigCity B — Google review
Theres probably a good chance, when we die, we will go somewhere like the Wisconsin Dairy State Cheese Company. This place has got the cheese and it is cheese galore. This is definitely a must stop on your way through the area.
Frank B — Google review
This cheese store has so many varieties of cheese available. Some very unique flavors that I've only found here and a handful of flavored cheese curds. It's great that they still squeak when you get them to your car!
Kara — Google review
Drove for an hour and a half to get here for some cheese. The prices are good and the selection is great. Plus fresh cheese curds that barely made it to the car before we dug in!! Will be back again. :)
Chris H — Google review
Great place, they always have fresh cheese curds, and things are done the old-fashioned way. They take the high road, a place that says no tips accepted.

Wildwood Zoo

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Park
Easygoing locale with gardens, natural habitats & a drive-through exhibit of large animals.
A great little stop if you’re in the area and want to stretch your legs! This FREE zoo isn’t huge, but it’s well-kept and has 20+ animals—maybe more. We spent about 35 minutes walking through and really enjoyed the interactive water education area. It’s air-conditioned (which was a lifesaver in the nearly 100-degree heat) and full of fun, hands-on activities for kids, like buttons to make clouds rain and blockades to change water flow. We didn’t catch the bears due to the heat, but there was still plenty to see. Definitely worth a visit for a short, family-friendly outing.
Kelly T — Google review
We had a wonderful time at the zoo! 🦅🐻 You can see an amazing variety of wildlife, including majestic bald eagles, Kodiak and Alaska bears, playful foxes, and so much more. The place feels so fresh and open, with clean paths and plenty of shady spots to enjoy. It’s a great place to explore nature, learn about the animals, and just relax with family or friends. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a fun, refreshing outdoor experience! 🌿✨
Mutia A — Google review
We have been going since before we had kids, and our oldest is 16. The zoo has gotten better and better, more animals, more exhibits, more great, helpful staff but has remained an awesome place to visit. Feeding the deer was an amazing experience 20+ years ago and our children are still amazed by it; now they get to feed the giraffes they were loving it. The parakeet exhibit was a hit too. The birds were so friendly, landed on everyone, everywhere, but nipped a little too. Our youngest didn't want to leave the exhibit, let alone the zoo. Even though it was raining. Totally worth it!
Andy C — Google review
Normally not a huge fan of zoos. This is a refuge and rehab that is beautiful. The animals are well supported and exhibit normal behaviors! The Kodiak exhibit is incredible. Well worth the beautiful walk through the small park!
Pookie R — Google review
Very small but nice zoo. Not a whole lot of animals but what was there was neat to see. The cats were mostly hiding due to the hot day. The bear enclosure was cool to watch, they seemed very happy. Only took about 2 hours of a slow walk. There is an indoor children’s activity center but we did not checkout. Very much worth stopping and giving a donation to.
Annmarie M — Google review
This was a great place to stretch our legs on our road trip. The free zoo has a walking part and a driving section. There were only 2 groups of animals on the driving section. The habitats are nice for a smaller zoo.
J R — Google review
We made a trip here before making our drive back home. Admission is free. Paths made easy for wheelchair to explore. Benches provided if you want to just sit and enjoy the nature surroundings. We didn’t get to see a lot of the animals at the time on our visit but we enjoyed the peaceful walk through.
Mayra R — Google review
This zoo and hiking trails were very nice to have near the hotel we were at for the week. We visited a couple times to explore the area. Very well maintained and friendly people everywhere.

When I say I always heard of this place of seen certain metal work around the area far did I know this was the Artist. Right in Marshfield. The couple is so nice and genuine. I enjoyed their humor and stories. Words can’t begin to describe how wonderful and amazing this place is the talent this couple has a mind you no piece he has done is the same. I encourage anyone and everyone to go check this place out. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Real raw talent here.

Clyde and Nancy are absolutely amazing hosts. Their lifetime work is just unbelievable. PS: ask Clyde for the water bottle rocket!
Jean V — Google review
Please go see this while you can! The artists live and work adjacent to the shop and park. They are true gems not to be missed.(we drove over 2.5 hours to visit!
Shelley G — Google review
What a unique place! So many different sculptures to look at and admire. If the owner is there, he will give you a tour and show you some of his "moving" parts sculptures. A must see and a place definitely worth going out of the way to see! There is also a shop where you can purchase some of his wife's beautiful creations!
Liz B — Google review
I come to Marshfield at least once a year during the summer. This is always on my to do list. The gentleman and lady that own and run the place are super nice. It's sort of like an interactive museum, but the exhibits are for sale. Remember to turn on Sugarbush. There's no signs for the place as far as I noticed.
Wes H — Google review
Well worth your time to see. Walked through the at first and it was fun or as some say whimsical. Then talked to the owners and the husband takes you on a tour with funny stories based on the characters he has built out of scrap metals. After that we Walked through again and you notice more things tucked in that you missed the first time. Well worth the time.
Brian B — Google review
I absolutely loved this sculpture garden! Brilliant work, lovely setting, and just so cool. You gotta visit this one!!!

Stoney Acres Farm

Super fun!! There was a musician who played the guitar and also a fiddle. Beer is great here. Pizza is phenomenal and the service is outstanding. I super recommended this place to anyone who is within driving distance and I always look forward to the opportunity return. Feel free to chase a chicken!! Be kind to the barn cats, one was pregnant the last time I visited
Drew L — Google review
Upset that I just found out about this place a couple hours ago! I like the whole atmosphere, and process. Ordering was easy, plenty of seating, and you could even walk around the farm to burn off the food. Will come back for your Margherita Pizza and the live music!
Bill H — Google review
Stony Acre Farms offers a delightful farm-to-table dining experience that’s perfect for families or date nights. The fresh pizzas, topped with local meats and cheeses, are a definite highlight, and the extensive beer selection adds to the great atmosphere. One of the best parts about Stony Acre is the opportunity to explore the farm. Kids will love wandering around and seeing where their food comes from. With the added bonus of live music, Stony Acre Farms provides a fun and wholesome experience for everyone. It's a great spot to enjoy delicious food, local brews, and a bit of outdoor fun. On top of that the owner is enthusiastic about this farm which makes the experience even better. Wpuld definitely recommend!
Maris M — Google review
Our family had a great time at Stony Acres Farm! The pizza was excellent quality and there were a great selection of tasty beers. Prices are reasonable, but you're getting so much more than good pizza and beer at a restaurant. The seating is informal outdoors on the farm's lawn. Use their assorted tables and chairs in the vicinity of the pizza ovens, or bring your own chairs and picnic blanket for the lawn near the play equipment. Pizza assembly occurs out of site indoors, but the pizza is baked in three wood-fired pizza ovens in full view! There are lots of opportunities to see how the fresh ingredients are made on location, and there is also a sign board describing the origin of every ingredient category, including the pigs contributing to the sausage and pepperoni. Pretty much everything but the cheese comes from the farm itself! There is often live music, too. Sit further from the band if you have kids or seek a more reasonable conversation volume. There is even a small collection of playground equipment for the younger kids. Arrive early if you want your pick of seating locations. This place gets busy, and with good reason! 10/10 will return next time I'm in Central WI!
Matt K — Google review
This place is truly wonderful! A fantastic atmosphere, coupled with craft beer and home-made pizza. If you haven't had a chance to check out Stoney Acres, I highly recommend it.
Scott P — Google review
We've been coming here for years and it just keeps getting better and better. The music is always fantastic and the staff is friendly. The pizzas are all made with homegrown and unique ingredients and some may seem different at first but I've never been disappointed. Who would've guessed that hosta shoots would be delicious? Athen's Light, the Maple Dopplebock, and the Rhubarb IPA are all great, but you really can't go wrong with anything on their beer list. This place is family-friendly with a unique atmosphere that can't be beat.
Sam A — Google review
Stone Acres Farm makes great pizzas on Friday and Saturday nights! (Check their website for dates and times.) The pizzas are not cheap, most are around $22, but they are definitely worth it! The crust is thin but the pizzas are very filling. The menu includes creative pizza names with unique combinations of toppings. (Although you'll still find your standard pepperoni and sausage.) All of the ingredients are either grown on the farm or locally sourced, except for probably olive related ingredients. We bought 2 pizzas for 2 kids and 4 adults and had a few slices left over. At a pizza night, you get to experience being on a farm, seeing pigs and chickens, and sometimes you even get to listen to live music! They also have their own brewery.

What a beautiful place. I would recommend anybody to go there. It is well-thought-out. Well, wait out and as a veteran, I could not believe how phenomenal the people are there. They are down-to-earth and they did one hell of a job. Putting that place together.I'm gonna go back and I will be buying one of those stones with the names on it and my name will be on 1 God bless those people I would recommend this so highly , I can't speak enough.About them Everything. Is free except the gift shop but they have a museum. There very well kept up. My Lord is just gorgeous. I can't say enough. God bless. Everybody goes there and God bless the United States, are we state? And god bless the veterans who protect our rights and freedoms
Larry H — Google review
This is the best veteran's memorial location I have ever visited! Hands-down! So well done. If you have veteran friends or family....take them there (if they want to go). This place is beautiful and touching and historically educational. The thought and attention that has gone into this vision is incredible. I will go back. I want to take my Mom there. My dad and two of my uncles were WWII veterans and Mom and I will go and "think of them."

Impressive, spacious displays of monuments to multiple conflicts. Nice landscaping and views. Lots of benches and picnic tables. Majority of monuments ramped and handicap accessible

Having never been here before I didn't know what to expect. It was much smaller than I thought it would be from the pictures online. However it was very beautiful surroundings and there were birds that I had never seen before in a natural habitat. Bald Eagles, Red-tailed Hawks, Snowy Owls and a Peregrine Falcon! I especially liked the Kodiak Bears!
Debra A — Google review
Perfect place for a family hike. Lots of trails that intersect with beautiful views of the lakes. The observation tower felt sturdy, my nerves were not😅The view was gorgeous, definitely worth coming back again in the Fall. Bathrooms were clean, our kids had fun at the playground and exploring. Hikes are kid friendly.
Kimi A — Google review
The highest point in Wisconsin, Timm's Hill is a nice park with great views, easy-going paths, and the wonderful sounds of nature. A short jaunt up to the tower provides phenomenal views of the rolling hills that go on for miles, and a couple of beautiful lakes. The path is normally easy to traverse, though I did have a pretty difficult time breathing due to the smoke from the Canadian wildfires this time around. There is a nice playground area here, plenty of parking, vault toilets, a shelter with picnic tables and grills (and electric), an easy path up to the tower and down to the lake, and additional trails through the woods that meet up with the Ice Age Trail. I did not pick a great day to come here, as the smoke from the wildfires was pretty horrendous, but still had an enjoyable time despite the trouble breathing. The bugs weren't bad, and I didn't get any ticks, though I did not take the trail through the woods this time around like I had originally planned. Well worth visiting! I believe this is a destination everybody should see at some point.
Nathan F — Google review
Yep, scratched off another Bucket List item. Wisconsin’s highest point. This was way better than I expected. I walked up to the top and was thinking there are too many tall trees to get a good view here. Well, would you look at this really nice tower they built for us. The only thing taller here is the old Ranger lookout tower. You can leave your name on the Register in the mailbox if you’d like. Lol. Don’t forget to bring a sack lunch, or something to grill, and a paddle lock with you to leave something here to say that you’ve been here. Now I have to go back because I didn’t know that was a thing. I will return. Enjoy…
Jeff B — Google review
We take a family trip every fall to hike and explore the beauty of nature. The explosion of colors are well worth the trip and hike to this gem. At the base of Timm's Hill- a nice little playground, pavillion, and bathrooms.

Munson Bridge Winery

Winery

I love this winery! I came here last summer and had to come back! I did wine tasting, they have a lot of options to try! Then I got a flight with my favorites from the tasting and a large pretzel and flatbread!
Brianna K — Google review
Wine was ok. Nice place nice people. Nice atmosphere. Problem here was the gluten free issue. One minute trusted them with gluten free issue. 30 minutes in...trust was uncertain. This was over a cracker issue. Long story. Change of staff... anyway just becareful because some know what is going on and some are confused. It takes me around 2 hours to react. And though it wasn't the worst reaction I was feeling pretty bad and it could have been due to the crackers. Just FYI. Other than that nice place.
Robin K — Google review
Very nice atmosphere. Great staff, great prices. The wine was very good. --I talked with some of the staff, and they tell me the winery was started 16 years ago this year. Sadly they are looking to sell the property. By next year this winery may not exist anymore. Due to the owner having medical issues that they have to deal with. It would be sad to see such a beautiful spot disappear. I would highly recommend checking them out before that happens. It is unknown if the new owners will want to continue the winery or not they may just want to use the land. I have included a wide variety of photos I hope they help encourage you to stop by and pick up or try some of their wine before it's no longer available.

Munson Bridge knows how to throw a party! We were there for a band on a Saturday night in June. The band was excellent and the wine was delicious! They brought in a food truck and a cheesecake truck for the event. Even though it rained (which we desperately needed), we stayed warm and dry under the tent. The winery itself during the day was great. The woman serving us our tastings was timely and helpful. The check out process was quick and easy. Bottles are $15 each. You can get a glass or a bottle to take outside and enjoy on the beautiful grounds. Highly recommend!
Denise K — Google review
It’s become tradition to stop into Munson Bridge winery on our way to our girls trip destination. The staff is always delightful, the wines are great, and the snacks are delectable! This year we shared the Brie appetizer and a bottle of fishing buddies. Both were delish! There’s something for everyone at Munson Bridge. The covered outdoor seating is cozy and the gift shop has some great items.

Such a fun place, we didn't have our kids with on this stop but it would be such a great place to stop and let your kids explore. From the massive bubble trampoline, to the pedal go carts, soccer nets and you can watch them milk the cows, make delicious cheese and much more. When you walk in they have a cute little gift shop area, with wine, cheese and other goodies. If you keep walking they have cheese samples and a cafe/ restaurant. I bought a latte and a sandwich and it was seriously so good that I already want to go back. Definitely a must stop here!
Derik M — Google review
Stopped as a road side stop on a road trip to see the giant cow. There is a very clean and nice tractor playground and a bounce pad that looks like cheese. We got to go in and see the milking of the cows. And we got to ride little bikes around a track! That was super fun for the kids and myself! Great stop with food, small souvenir things, and even restrooms. Kids get the energy out, parents enjoy a moment.
Ashley V — Google review
This was Awesome! We didn't exactly eat here but we did get lots of cheeses and based off the ones we got to try they are all Fabulous! We missed the tour they do 2 a day at 9am & 1pm, cost is $10 a person. However we did get to walk around and see the cows being milked and visit with the calves. It's a very well run and taken care of dairy farm and cheese factory. Don't miss it!
Karla T — Google review
Delicious fresh Gouda cheese can be purchased here. The also have a nice selection of Homemade chocolates, sausages, hot stix, pizzas, and many other snack items to enjoy. Tours are available for a small cost. A fun place to bring the Family! Outside seating as well as inside seating for those who wish a sit down meal. Activities for kids outdoors.
Lisa S — Google review
This was an interesting stop, we bought a bunch of cheeses to take home, all of which we have enjoyed so far! Our food was good in the cafe, but nothing mind blowing. While I would definitely buy packaged cheese there again, I don't feel like I need to eat at the cafe again specifically. It was fun to watch the cows get milked and see the racks of cheese wheels.
Kailey P — Google review
Was recommended to me by a co-worker and although it is during the winter it still didn’t disappoint. I definitely look forward to the warmer months to be able to take a full tour. The whole setup was great for the kids as they loved being able to see the calfs up close and pet them… and of course you can’t forget the GOUDA! So delicious
Mike S — Google review
What a great experience!! We got to pet calves, we got to race the pedal tractors, we got to see the cows get milked and we learned a lot about fairy asking the way. The shop is beautiful. The viewing room is cool. The people are nice. The gifts are great!!! If you're looking for a fun stop: this is it!
Bryan L — Google review
A great place to stop with kids! There's a cute playground and other activities for kids, plus you can visit the cows and watch them getting milked or view how the cheese gets made. Plus the food was great and a nice little store with delicious ice cream.

Chaos Water Park

Mentioned on
9 lists
Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Chaos Water Park is an indoor water park located inside Metropolis Resort, offering a variety of attractions suitable for all ages. The park features a lazy river, multiple water slides including a pitch-black tube slide and a slower body slide, as well as an aquatic playground with a giant bucket that splashes everyone below when full. There are also areas for water basketball, lily pad climbing, and even a toddler section with spraying fun.
This place was awesome! Super affordable to get in as well as food/drink. They had a ton of floaties and we never had to wait to get one for the slides or lazy river - even on a super packed Saturday. Hot tub was great for the adults but a little too hot for the kids. Slides were a little slow/tame for my 12 year old. Overall we spent over 6 hours at this place and the kids were in bed early. it was definitely worth the stop.
Steve A — Google review
Had a fun Friday night. We had the place to ourselves for about 30 minutes as we went in at 4pm opening. Didn't really see people arriving until closer to 5. Didn't get very busy during our visit. I'm sure other days are different. Worth a visit regardless of age but younger kids will probably enjoy it the most. Slides are fun for older kids and the lazy river is good for everyone else.
Jerome L — Google review
Water slides are perfect for my little kids, my 3 year old is tall enough to ride them. Place is well maintained, lines move fast so not much sitting around.
Nick P — Google review
You guys are good. Although I would recommend adding more stuff, Since my child got bored easily since there was barely any stuff. The slides are good and so is the pool. A lot of balls which made it good since we played Monkey in the Middle but water themed with my son and others.

Great time swimming...... children had a blast..... was here for about 7 hrs..... pizza for lunch was good..... slushies were good...... hot tub was hot...... lazy river not so lazy but good......
Jason S — Google review
Awesome place! The kids loved it. The only downside is the one slow slide—nobody really uses it and it hurts your back. Otherwise, we had a great time!
Robert P — Google review
Smaller water park but all indoors. Kids loved the lazy river
Weller H — Google review
I really enjoyed this waterpark! It is located inside the Metropolis Hotel in Eau Claire. It's a great waterpark to go to throughout the year since it's located inside. It is perfect for young kids and has several different areas for different ages. It has a smaller play area for the younger kids, a lazy river, a bigger/slightly deeper area for the older kids with a basketball hoop and 2 slides for the bigger kids/adults. It also has tables and chairs everywhere so there's always a place to sit and set your stuff down. There is also a place called Monkey in the Middle Express (pizza) that's located inside the waterpark area so you don't have to leave to get food or drinks if you don't want to. Very pleased with our stay and can't wait to go back and enjoy this waterpark again with our kids!!

Located in Chippewa Falls, Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company is a 145-year-old brewery that offers free tours throughout the year. Visitors can explore the brewery's history and modern operations, with options for one-hour or two-hour tours. The longer tour includes a tasting glass. Reservations are recommended, and there's also a gift shop, lodge rentals, and an event calendar to explore.
We really enjoyed our short time here. The beer was really good and it was fun to learn all the different flavors that you get when mixing different beers. We also bought some shirts (super cute, nice quality) along with some Wisc. cheese and beef sticks. Really nice staff that instantly makes you feel welcomed. They also have a nice patio to enjoy your flight of beer. The only complaint that we have is how early they close on a sat (8pm)

Really sad to see the brewery production stopping. Had a great time going on tour, fabulous guide. I booked the tour same day and they couldn’t squeeze my husband in, so I went alone. I was super disappointed they couldn’t let him in, seemed like one more wouldn’t have ruined anything. Really neat historical place, definitely recommend! The beer is interesting, lots of fruity choices. Samples come with the tour. Lots of merchandise, super impressive!
Angela T — Google review
I went on a well thought out tour with guide Miranda. Heard how the Leinenkugel beer is made & saw the process to make the beer. Good tasting & merchandise. I got a hat & shirt too. Fun board games, Rummikub, events such as music, trivia, dogs can come outside on certain evenings, & pinball machines.
Trevor G — Google review
A beautiful, open space. They have a section with a detailed history of the brewing company. It has a lot of seating and two bars, which speeds up service because the place can grow busy after work. Unfortunately, they don’t always have all their beers on tap, so you might check before you go if you have your heart set on one in particular.

At Leinenkugel's Tasting Brew Pub's cozy bar and retail area in Ladysmith, WI, we skipped the tour but were wowed by bartender Tracey's amazing service. We sampled their craft beer flights and all i can say is wow o wow. My favorite was the white mocha stout, a true sleeper. Was balanced with the perfect amount of sweetness. The $15-per-person, one-hour tour sounds like a no-brainer for next time. Can’t wait to stop by again next year!

A unique brewery with tours operating daily, get out here before Jan 17th 2025 to experience the brewery before the tours cease. We had a great time and our tour guide was great!

Beautiful location with a great tasting room. Was disappointed to find out during the tour that they had shuttered production operations last January. Recommend they let patrons know prior to tour purchase, as the tour is still given as if it’s an active brewery.

I had the Big Eddy Uber Oktoberfest back in 2013 and found out it was finally available again only at The Leinie Lodge in 2025. I couldn't wait to have it again! It was great, the service was great. I purchased a couple of growers too. Thanks! Bring back the Big Eddy brews permanently!

Irvine Park Zoo is a 318-acre city park in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, offering a variety of attractions for visitors. The park features a petting zoo, cross-country ski trail, historical buildings such as a 1903 schoolhouse, and picnic grounds. Visitors can explore miles of hiking paths and venture through the zoo to see well-cared-for animals.
Irvine Park is fun to go to anytime of the year the animals are great the kids have a blast they have playgrounds picnic areas animals walking areas the farm. Going around Christmas time is one of my favorites the Christmas display that they put on is so cute. They have tons of lights and figures and at the end towards the animals they have stories which my kids love to stop and read..My kids have a blast doing this. If you go through for the light show there are quite a few cars that go so you may get stuck in a line but it is a decent moving line for the most part. When you go to see the lights you can walk through the parks and the lights or you can drive.

Nice park and zoo with great views. We visited in the end of April so petting zoo was closed and some animal were not visible but we still had a good time. I was impressed at how accessible everything was by wheelchair and walker and the many benches that allowed rest breaks when needed. We did not see the whole area but many kids were enjoying the playground equipment and we enjoyed watching the geese in the river.

This is a great park & zoo! We have 3 children 4 and under and are vacationing in Lake Holcombe. The drive wasn’t too long and this is a great stop perfect for an adventure when not looking for an entire day stop. Bear, hyena, cow, eagle, hawk, and other small animals. Two playgrounds, a trail, and views of the river. And it’s free but you may leave a donation if you want. So glad we stopped! Highly recommend a visit!
Cala N — Google review
If you are in the area, this is a MUST. Our expectations were beyond exceeded, and we are literally planning a trip back to see more of the property. The park itself is both massive, and absolutely GORGEOUS. As for the Zoo, what they are doing is amazing. They have delivered a top notch facility for both the animals and guests alike, and I can enjoy the space in good conscious knowing the animals are being cared for incredibly well. I would strongly recommend this place.
Jason S — Google review
The zoo is really not the highlight of this park, it's the beautiful green space, playgrounds, picnic areas, water features and attention to renewing native plants that make it great! AND it's free. I am impressed!
Faith M — Google review
Unfortunately this place is small, outdated, and sad. The animals all live on concrete floors with almost no enrichment, and there's about 6 of them to see. When we went they were repairing the lion enclosure, which had broken windows and broken wooden bridges inside for the lion. Sadly the animals do not seem happy or well kept, and the zoo owners seem to be asking for donations on every bad review rather than trying to find better homes for these creatures. Avoid at all costs!
Colin Z — Google review
Irvine Park is a beautiful place to explore. A lot of animals to see, nice nature trails with different experience levels, a petting zoo, splash pad, picnic areas and multiple playgrounds. All of the kids (ages 4,10,15) loved the dirt hiking trails by the river, waterfall and rock cliffs. The petting zoo is only opened certain days/times so definitely check if that's what you'd like to see. All of the other zoo animals are in enclosed glass, cages or in large fenced areas outside. The large animals are harder to spot in the fields but more exciting for the kids. Inside you can find frozen drinks, ice cream, snacks, hotdogs and other treats. Plus the museum with tons of really old trinkets, animal furs, even a carriage! I would highly recommend Irvine Park to anyone visiting or local looking for something fun outdoors to do with the family! We go at least once a month if not more! And the Christmas Village every year is breathtaking, definitely check it out if you haven't seen it!
Amyjo — Google review
We actually came across this while trying to find a spot for a picnic while on the road. This was a hidden gems that we enjoyed so much. Would love to come back and explore again. There was not a lot of animals when we went but it is based off donations and I wish I had a million to give away.

Carson Park is a picturesque 134-acre peninsula park located on the oxbow Half Moon Lake, offering a range of activities for visitors. The park features historic baseball and football fields, as well as a kiddie train ride and playground. It is also home to the Chippewa Valley Museum and the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Museum, providing insights into local history.
We had been to this playground 6 years ago on a family trip to Minnesota. We took a family trip to Eau Claire this weekend for a wedding. The boys were so excited to go back to this playground. My youngest, who I was pregnant with during our first visit also had an absolute blast. Some of their favorites are the two big slides and the zip line.

This is a great park/playground for the kids when it’s warm, but completely unusable when it gets cold. The playground equipment is fantastic. There is a lot for the kids to do and tons of different things to play with. Unfortunately, if there is ever a freeze risk (and this being Wisconsin, there is a risk half of the year) the bathrooms close. In the end, it doesn’t matter how nice the playground is if the bathrooms are not usable.

Beautiful, woodsy park. Lots of picnic areas spread throughout the park. A few wooded hiking paths. No entrance fee. Cute train ride available. Amazing inclusive playground - perfect for family get-togethers and kids birthday parties. Access to the Chippewa river.

The Ice Age Trail segment through here is lovely, and there are multiple loop trails in the rec area that make for interesting day hikes. While it's great in summer (bring the bug spray, lots of water and shady trees), try this in the dead of winter when the water is frozen over. Bring a pair of snowshoes and try the loop trails - this is some of the finest winter hiking around.

I want to show my appreciation for the pleasant and helpful box office personnel. My husband and I were unable to attend the performance that I had purchased tickets for and I called to ask if there was a way to transfer tickets on the day of the performance. The woman I spoke to not only answered my question but helped me with names that were on a list for tickets for the sold out performance. I was able to sell the tickets easily, and as a bonus, when I called back with the name to transfer the tickets to she let me know that the person was known to her and was trustworthy to send a check.

Oh my gosh! We have known of this place for years. But it took the Buddy Holly Dance Party Reunion to get us through the doors! What a beautiful theater. We look forward to visiting again, very soon.

Gilligans in Chetek- bar, restaurant & lodging

Bar
Nightlife
Cocktails & American grub served in a lakeside grill with an outdoor tiki bar & live music.
Came in for dinner cause I have a friend who works here and let me tell you it was amazing. From the second we walked in the atmosphere was incredible. Our hostess sat us quickly and we had the sweetest most attentive server Brittany. She made sure we had everything we needed. The food, wow the words can't even describe how amazing it was. We got gator bites which my husband loved and the cheese curds melted in our mouth. The entrees too were cooked perfectly and so amazing. We eat quite a bit of bar food and normally I don't feel well after but this was well made and amazing. We even ate them as leftovers and sometimes left overs don't taste as well this food. Even cold and reheated AMAZING. I highly recommend coming here at least once I know we will for sure be back often!!

First time here and we enjoyed it. The night we went it was very slow. We had 3 adults and 3 kids. Waitress was was good. I got the Prime Island sandwich with the shaved prime rib and onion sails (petals) in the side ($15). I really enjoyed it. I felt my meal was worth the price, but another person at my table got the nightly special which was pasta. It was a good tasty dish, but very small portion for the cost. Overall, I would try this place again if I was in area.

A Fantastic Memorial Day Lunch at Gilligan's in Chetek! My wife, daughter, and I had a truly delightful Memorial Day lunch at Gilligan's in Chetek, WI, and we couldn't have been more impressed. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and vibrant. The fun decor immediately caught our eye, creating a lively backdrop that felt just right for a family outing. We appreciated how comfortable and welcoming it felt, allowing us to relax and enjoy the music and ambiance without feeling out of place with our daughter. We kicked off our meal with the alligator bites, which were a delicious and adventurous start to our lunch. For our main courses, my wife raved about her garlic Parmesan salmon, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. I opted for the classic lake perch, and it certainly didn't disappoint – fresh, flaky, and wonderfully prepared. Our daughter was happy with her quesadilla, a perfect kid-friendly option. Throughout our meal, our server was absolutely fantastic. They were incredibly friendly and attentive, following up regularly without being intrusive. Their excellent service definitely enhanced our dining experience, making us feel well-cared for. To cap off our delicious lunch, we indulged in the key lime pie for dessert, and it was simply divine – a perfect balance of tart and sweet, and a truly satisfying end to our meal. Overall, Gilligan's provided a memorable Memorial Day experience. The combination of delicious food, a great atmosphere, and excellent service made for a perfect family lunch. We highly recommend Gilligan's to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience in Chetek!

The front of the building is deceiving of what a great establishment this is. Go around the side to the outdoor bar. Food and drink served there too. And the dock for lake customers to pull up to enjoy the atmosphere too. Great food and drink selection. Our bartender/server, Scott, was very personable. He was a local so had plenty of local activity suggestions.

The waitress was by herself waiting on us, 4 other tables plus a group of 11. Very slow service. there was a table of 5 that ordered there drinks, they did get those but never got to order food. they up and left. Our pasta was cold and a small serving for the price. They should have had more waitresses. Don't know if we'll go back.

I have been going to Gilligan's as long as it changed to Gilligan's and before when it was The Spot. The owners have changed over the years many times. The wings are great. We come up to Chetek and go to get the wings twice since we are here 2 weeks. The issue I see is they added on for outside seating and other seating and the kitchen is the same size. This seems be the one of the issues. The service yesterday was very slow, we ordered the food and we had to ask at the front when will we get the food after one hour. Wings don't take that long especially when its wing night. The server was running from one side to the other side and outside. How can you service the customer and get the food? Other tables around us were complaining for the same reason. They were ordering other food items burgers, wraps ect. I see a lot of complaining about the service on the reviews and saw it first hand and even my experience. Again wings big tasty and waffle fries great.

A treasure of a find. This beautiful little museum is full of kind, knowledgeable staff, beautiful taxidermy, an awesome indoor kid play area with a flying squirrel and live reptiles in their terrariums, a seasonally? changing kids’ exhibit with lots of interactive learning, and a cool gift shop (great for educational gifts and books especially). They also have an incredible outdoor play scape right down the road that’s amazing in the summer. Free on Tuesdays, home schoolers!

What an adorable spot. I bet little kids would love it, but as a woman in my 40s, I still had a great time. I definitely put on a little fox cape so I could experience being a little animal under the snow, but stopped short of playing in the acorn pit. A wide variety of ways to interact with exhibits, plentiful but approachable information about the area and wildlife. Respect and appreciation for the indigenous land stewards and history of the area they hold and share. I had too much fun to take many photos, but I did capture this little friend.

Fun place to take small children. The walk through goes in a whole circle making it convenient for walking with children. Playground is nice to get out extra energy. Cute little gift shop to get treats and ice cream. Benches placed around the property to sit and take a break. The kids loved to go into the petting zoo and feed the fish and goats. If your in the Hayward area with small children, it would be a fun place to stop and visit. Would recommend. We went three times last summer. 😁

Super fun place to see a wide variety of animals. You can feed and pet a lot of them, which I had a blast doing. I loved watching the lemurs play and a lot of the goats were obsessed with chin scratches. If you’re in need of some nature therapy, this is the place to go.

We came here on a whim after staying for a week in a town nearby. What a hidden gem this place is! With 2 young children, this place kept them entertained for hours. The animals look well taken care of, and we really appreciated the immersive set up of the whole park. Our favorite part was getting to walk through the open area where dozens of whitetail deer still enjoy their natural habitat but you can be apart of their world. There is a restaurant area as well as fun little mining area where kids can dig for gold. If they find gold, they can bring it to the attendance at the food stand for a sucker. How fun! We really enjoyed this place and will definitely be back if in the area again!
Ash — Google review
This the most depressing "zoo" I've ever seen. Bears, a tiger, and a wolf, in little more than a chainlink kennel with a concrete floor. No grass, minimal shelter, little water, zero enrichment, the poor wolf was pacing stressed out little circles in its tiny enclosure. None of the other animals had it much better, it was all so sad. This place needs to be shut down for animal abuse. Everything else is run down and literally falling apart. These animals deserve better. And the free roaming deer - there was one in the petting zoo. Outside, there was a long pen, half a football field at most, with at least 2 dozen deer. No grass, almost no shelter, just dirt and a mud puddle. But hey, the tortoise enclosure did have this giant, completely inappropriate climbing enclosure. I don't know how the owner sleeps at night, it's abysmal.

Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame

Temporarily Closed

Museum complex devoted to freshwater fishing, featuring antique motors, vintage rods & mounted fish.
We visited during the off season and we're the only ones there. It was very peaceful having the place to ourselves. It was pretty amazing to see so many different types of fish and how big some of the fish are! It was fun walking up the big muskie and getting some cool photos of the area. The summer gardens were already done blooming, but I imagine them being very beautiful in summer. I would definitely come back again with our kids to see.
Stephanie R — Google review
It's a unique attraction in Wisconsin. I've lived in Wisconsin for over 20 years and have known about The existence of the huge muskie building sculpture. So I was interested in seeing it even though I am not into freshwater fishing. If you are in the area or traveling through the area, it's worth the stop. It's fun to look out the mouth of the huge muskie structure and take pictures of the large fish sculptures, there is a lot to see in the museum.
Beverly K — Google review
Another World's Somethingest Something added to our list! The World's Largest Muskie is an incredible sight to behold! We finally got to go in after the fourth trip up here! I'm not sure why, but our first three attempts kept coming up unsuccessful, as it was closed each time. Once might have been covid, one time was construction, and I'm not sure what the reason was for the other (might have just been too late in the day, I don't remember for sure). The grounds here are absolutely gorgeous! They did a fantastic job on the sculptures and the landscaping. The interior has a LOT going on. There are so many boats, motors, lures, rods, pictures and mounts of record breaking fish. There's tons of history of freshwater fishing, and it does include quite a bit of saltwater fish, as well. There's a section filled to the brim with photographs people sent in over the decades of their catches. There's a decent amount of parking, a nice playground area for the kids, and so much to see (check out the 1950's era snowmobile). If you're a fishing enthusiast, or just in the area, this is well worth the price of admission. I was surprised to see there's not a seafood restaurant attached to this, though. It seems something like that would fit in perfectly here. Especially with Wisconsin being known for our love of fish frys.
Nathan F — Google review
If you have kids, this place would be worth stopping at. The kids loved going to the top of the Musky. All the fish statues are really nice and fun to take pictures with. The buildings have so much history about fishing. There is a small playground if you have younger kids.
Carrie H — Google review
I wanted to take my husband here a few years ago. He loves to fish like so many people do so i thought he would enjoy it. We took along our grandson who's 14 since he enjoys the sport as well. I did research it a little since it's a quite far away and the reviews were pretty good. It holds alot of fishing history. So much compacted into sections but nicely displayed. The ground are beautifully kept and the walking paths are wide and clear of any obstacles. I enjoyed the large staues of different types of fish along the walking paths. They have a souvenir shop, public bathrooms and plenty of resting areas. Thought they would have live fish in the giant pond surrounding the look out musky, a better view of the sign that says your here, for a tree is covering most of it and a few different hats to purchase. But over all glad we went
Tina B — Google review
An engaging experience with lots of fishing-related (duh) exhibits. There must be a hundred boat motors on display, from the very early 1900s to the '70s. Be careful, you might learn something!
Dave K — Google review
Definitely different. History of lures, trolling motors & engines was interesting. The grounds with the larger than life fish was pretty cool. If you're into this stuff, then you definitely need to stop by & visit.

Relaxed lodging with a casino, indoor pool & dining options, plus free Wi-Fi, breakfast & parking.
Wonderful customer service! After the other hotel in town denied my service animal ( with proper documentation) they were able to get us a room and even gave us the info to get a discount! Very clean rooms, nice pool and hot tub, and reasonably priced!

⭐ 1/5 This casino has gone downhill fast. They used to send monthly flyers with free play, great promotions, and a solid buffet with reasonably priced, good food. Now? The buffet’s gone, replaced by a lackluster sports book with limited betting options. They yanked all the good slot machines, jacked up the craps minimum bet, and raised food prices while the quality tanked. Daily food promos for players? Either gone or so expensive they’re pointless. Their “Ladies Night” is a scam—you play for free play and drawings, but they don’t even announce hourly winners, just lie about it. No reason to come here anymore. I used to spend a lot but won’t eat or play here again. Save your money and go elsewhere. Response to Casinos comment. I received mailers every month for the past few years, something changed on your end because I played enough to qualify and stopped receiving them. Now when you ask the front desk how to qualify they all give you different vague answers. Plus you don't do any free swipes anymore you have to play $10 to get $15, not really a promo to draw anybody in. Of course Casinos all change slots frequently but you have tightened them up so nobody wins much anymore. All the promos and food prices changed in the last few months and not for the better. You will lose a lot of loyal customers that used to come a few times a week like myself.

We had a lot of fun over our two days, one night at Turtle Lake Casino. Our experience and observations lead us to determine that playing the tables is the way to fatten your pockets. We played a wide variety of slots with little success, in fact nickel wins were pitiful and plentiful. You will do well on live craps and machine craps. The restaurant is a very good value. Will definitely be back.

The casino has gone downhill this past year. Took away the $5 for food monthly. Taking things off the menu and raised prices. Use to get $10 a month to play. Imagine our surprise (and not a nice one!!) to find out we didn't spend enough money in May 2025 to get ANY MONEY for June. WTH?? Apparently if you are not a big spender, you are SOL. No newsletter delivered to us as of June 30th. Apparently going there twice in June didn't get us anything. 😡 Come on!!!! We spend the same amount we have for years, but obviously we are not worthy of being a part of Turtle Lake Casino anymore. So disappointed 😞
Luanne F — Google review
To call this a Sportsbook is not accurate. Severely limited bets so often. I had a 3 team parlay I wanted to get a $1000 limited to $256, what kind of Sportsbook limits parlay bet to $256? If seen futures limited to $28. On any busy sports day, you have to wait in line forever to place a bet while people take 30 minutes to place $5, 10 team parlay. They don’t have Sportsbook employees that know what’s going on, let alone anyone in the casino. The machines stopped working after driving to place thousands in sports wagers (Masters). I was told to talk to a bartender. The bartender told me to talk to floor man, but didn’t know where he was and said he didn’t have authority to call them. He then directed me to beverage manager who knew nothing, because we couldn’t find floor man. After going to the front (they apparently have authority) they called the floor man. Turns out he had no idea what was going on or when it’d be fixed. Maybe it’s an upgrade? He said. I walked out with $6000 in my pocket and drove MI. They don’t know what’s they are doing, won’t keep customers that want to wager real money, and they prob don’t care. My guess is same people have run this casino forever, and it’s easy to be complacent because old people and slot revenue is a very easy, unchanging business. Also, the poker room is a smoke filled hot box on 2nd floor with apparently very little ventilation. This makes $1-$2 NL the best way to take years off your life and increase chance of lung cancer by 20%-30%. Who at the casino thinks this is good for business? The casino seems to employ 10x the security of a normal casino and has several groups of security constantly circling the casino. It's very bizarre. It’s too bad. The opportunity this place has a great opportunity to serve the new demand sports betting is generating in the region, run a legit Sportsbook and pull lots of money from MN / MPLS. They either don’t know what they are doing or don’t care enough to learn customer experience / needs relating to sports betting. Seems they could do so much more with Poker room too. My conclusion is the business is clearly aimed at the old folks who like to smoke and slap 75 cent slots. Very profitable, im certain. And it doesn't require the management / ownership to do anything as it's been the same for decades.

Worst experience in a casino. Party of seven having a great time cut off from the bar suddenly for zero reason. Will never step foot in this or another affiliated property. Terrible security staff and consumer relations experiance. Update: Then I suggest not treating perfectly acceptable consumers like a criminal.
Daniel G — Google review
My husband and I had a disappointing experience. We both approached the bar at different times but received the same disrespect and discrimination based on the color of our skin from the same older bartender. We waited patiently for our drinks, but he intentionally skipped serving us and instead helped other customers. His actions were clear, and his behavior was unprofessional and hurtful, making us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. No customer should be subjected to such treatment. I hope the management takes this matter seriously and ensures that all guests are treated with dignity and respect. This will be the last time I visit this place.
Anya S — Google review
So disappointed in St Croix casino. I am wondering if and when they got new management ,they had a senior day where you could get 15 and free play and Saturday night for the younger people would get 10 in free play now they changed it where you have to get one point. So you have to spend $10 to get 15 That is not a promotion to draw people in. We used to eat in the restaurant three times a week now they cut out all the promos for that. In the last 3 weeks anytime I stop there there's maybe six people in the restaurant there used to be a waiting line to get into eat. I'm assuming they laid off most of the workers. Not sure if they're struggling financially or if they got management that doesn't know how to run things. I hope they turn this around soon because they're losing all their patrons.

Come. Visit. This stop is a MUST on your way through or to Shell Lake, WI. Just off frontage road from highway 63. (Accommodating for a variety of gluten free dairy free beverages) Coffee, Ice cream, hot drinks, cold drinks, smoothies, bakery, stickers, Shell Lake shirts, sweatshirts & more! That's just in the cafe. The decor is rustic & creative all mixed together. Lots of seating for a variety of group sizes. (Ours was a party of 7). The outdoor patio is absolutely beautiful with 100 perfect spots for pictures. (As you can see from my own attached pictures). This business also has the pottery area, lovely & providing opportunities to learn a new craft! Yard decor for sale in the patio and a wonderful venue for bands & parties in the backyard. Check them out online (which I didn't) to see if they are hosting bands or events this summer. Would be worth it to attend an event here in the backyard!

We usually go off peak (not during the busy summer months). It was busy but not too busy. Live music in the evening. Great venue. Food, coffee and ice cream available in the cafe. We always go to paint our own pottery. Such a fun time. They glaze and fire your pottery and you pick up the finished piece at a later date. They do ship also.

Not even sure how many times we have been by this place and never stopped. Today was the day! The staff was very friendly. They have a great selection of pottery, jewelry, wood crafts, & Glass items, and many other one of a kind things all from many different artist. They also have a area where you can do pottery and crafts. They also have a area where you can order food and sit in booths or tables to enjoy your meal. In the summer they offer an area with outside music certain days of the week with adult beverages and pizzas which we will be back for. The bathroom is very very clean. Would recommend stopping here.

Always a great place to get on the water for a fun day in the sun. Our driver to the landing was super nice and offered some suggestions on the water. He helped hook up our tubes and sent us off with a great farewell on our river adventure.

Fun experience and we went with 4 kiddos. The service was quick and I liked that they drove us out to the start of the stream. It was 3 hours. Kinda wish they had a drop off spot that offered a shorter trip like 1.5 hours. But the tubes were clean and comfortable, the water was very clean, calm the day we went. We liked getting back and having ice cream. Great price and even better flavors for the ice cream!

This is a great place for renting various floaty things to go down the river in. We came in around noon and picked two single-person kayaks. The staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The river was peaceful and beautiful. I felt the prices were all reasonable. Even the 20oz drinks were less than $2.
Jim S — Google review
Super fun, great experience!! Highly recommend this place. They even have tubes for coolers to pack along drinks and snacks !!!
T M — Google review
It's expensive to rent a tube. 18 backless 20 with a back. A large family can spend a lot just to rent tubes. They are friendly and good service. But should have family package or group deals 🤔 to make affordable for families to do together ❤️
Kassi D — Google review
This is a quiet, peaceful river. Along the journey, a deer was by the water and stayed as we rowed by. A train came along the waterway, adding to the variations you see. The two drawbacks are a lack of places to pull off to stretch after your first few miles and the heavy paddle for rowing. Otherwise, great service and a beautiful place to kayak.

Went as a group of 15. 4months- 38 years old. Everyone had a great time! I highly recommend water shoes, which are available for sale in the office, and umbrella's, im not sure if they had them for sale. We were on the river for a good 5 hours so sunscreen and water are also a good idea! So many places to stop and hang out, or plenty of room to float on by.

Quaint little winery. Definitely a must stop. They have a 5 for $10 tasting that is definitely worth every dollar. We enjoyed everything we tasted and bought two bottles to take home. The lovely lady who was working was kind and very helpful with recommendations on what to see. Don’t miss this place!!

This is a smaller cider, mead brewery. They offer samples 5 for $10, or spirit samples 3 for $10. The meads are a sweet light crisp mead 9/10! Ciders are light and crisp as well most are semi dry 8/10. Really friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend stopping in! Worth the trip!!

Great selections of Mead and Cider. Great people there. I love their Mead-jito. If John, an owner, is in and you want a refreshing drink without alcohol, ask for John's drink!
Peung ( — Google review
Disclaimer: Have not been to the meadery. This is just a review of 2 of their meads. I bought a bottle of the dry mead and a bottle of the black mead. I have to say, I'm not a fan of either of them. Too similar to dry wine. When I drink mead, I wanna be able to tell I'm drinking mead. There's almost zero honey character in either, in my opinion.

Wonderful Meadery, Cidery, Distillery on US2. Very educational and welcoming. We enjoyed the blueberry mead, many of the ciders and cherry kwench. A must stop!

It was so fun to find this on our way home from Ashland, Wi. It’s such a treat to taste local products! Please visit this neat cozy place! I didn’t get to snap much photos but they do have all kinds of Mead drinks & ciders. The couple John and Kim (Hamilton?) has been running and making these local drinks for the past 28 years! We support local 💯 and they deserve to be recognized more. They are lovely and kind people which makes it an impressive impression, surely! There are toys for kids to get busy with too! But the real deal is the challenge they give to kids with cup & ball, not sure about the name of the game but if you visit you’ll know! Cheers to more Wisconsin place to discover ☺️

Amnicon Falls State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
Park
Nature park featuring waterfalls & rapids on the Amnicon River, trails & camping.
So many waterfalls to see during an interesting and varied hike. We parked in the first available parking lot off of County Road U and then hiked along the edge of the river on the nicely maintained path. The river churns and rolls along next to you as you walk, and the sound and interesting features of the water movement above and below the falls make the hike so enjoyable. After crossing the bridge, don't miss the chance to hike around the island and check out Snake Pit Falls on the far side. It was the most picturesque of them all! The hike around the island is a little more challenging than along the river. Watch your footing throughout the park as it is easy to trip over the rocks and roots on the paths.
Chanelle S — Google review
This is one of my favorite spots thus far. So much to see here. We hiked for 3.5 hours and could have truly stayed all day. There are so many waterfalls and picturesque stops. The trails have ones less traveled and still get you back to the trails easy enough to explore and not stress about being lost.
ASHLEY Q — Google review
Loved our stay! This campsite was perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway. It had everything we needed—fire pit, picnic table, and just the right amount of space between sites to feel private without being isolated. The campground was clean, peaceful, and well-maintained. Pro tip: there are no fancy bathrooms, so be prepared to rough it a bit—but that’s part of the charm! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a simple, enjoyable escape outdoors.
Brennan R — Google review
If you love waterfalls, this wonderful park has several that you can get right in front of, on top of, below, and to the sides. As long as you're sure-footed, you can really get all over them here! You can even swim right up to them in a few spots, like the Lower Falls section. The trails here are nice, wide, and easy-going for the most part (there are some roots and rocks, but nothing terrible). There are picnic tables and grills scattered around, and a lot of places to sit on the ground for a more traditional picnic with incredible scenery. There are several parking locations throughout, and each has some incredibly picturesque views nearby. Not much in the way of playground equipment that I saw, just a swingset, but there may be more in the campground area (didn't go over to that part). I didn't notice any shelters, other than the historic covered bridge. Not a deterrent for me, but something to keep in mind if you visit on a rainy day. This is well worth visiting even from across the country (or from other countries). If you're visiting Wisconsin, this should definitely be on your list. If you live here, but have never been, this is one of the places in our state you should go out of your way to see at least once in your life. This place is absolutely gorgeous and so worth the drive! As a side note, not really of any importance to anyone other than me, this review finally puts me at level 10 on Maps. Almost a decade of adding pictures and places, making videos and reviews. I've always had an incredibly strong wanderlust and love of picture-taking. It brings me great joy showing people the weird and beautiful places to visit in our state (and country). My hope is that I have helped to inspire others to get out and explore, and maybe shown people things they didn't even know existed. I've been all over our country, and Wisconsin is an incredibly beautiful place that I don't think most people realize. Time spent outdoors here is time well spent!
Nathan F — Google review
This state park is open year-round and offers some beautiful sightings of nature. There are plenty of outdoor recreational activities available from camping, hiking, hunting and fishing to picnic areas and swimming. We enjoyed walking the trails and exploring all the geological views as well.
Grlenamored — Google review
Those Falls are just beautiful I've never seen waterfalls like that before they are just gorgeous and that I just felt so connected.
Ash — Google review
This is a great, underappreciated park. It’s small, but tends to be less crowded and you have great access to the waterfalls. It’s a much smaller, more intimate version of Copper Falls. The covered bridge is a really neat, unique feature of this park. We visited on a fall drive and returned a couple years later to camp. While you’re here it’s also a quick drive over to Pattison State Park to see the tallest waterfall in Wisconsin: Big Manitou Falls
Tom E — Google review
Not much too see. Falls are Low. We need rain. Tree look diseased with green lime Growth all over them and the rocks. A lot dead trees down. Bad side rail loose and falling apart. Camp ground very nice.

The Two Harbors Lighthouse Museum in Two Harbors, Minnesota is a must-visit attraction for those who love the outdoors and history. Situated on the North Shore of Lake Superior, it offers stunning views of Agate Bay and Burlington Bay. The oldest operating lighthouse in Minnesota, it provides a picturesque backdrop for picnics and guided tours inside the lighthouse itself.
Great historical stop. We not only walked out to the light house on the jetty but also toured the old light house and grounds. Even made it up the 47 stairs to view out the windows.

Glad we decided to stop here, it was unexpectedly beautiful! It costs $5 to go back to the lighthouse but it is plenty visible from outside if you don’t want to pay. The lighthouse itself is a bed and breakfast so you can’t go up to the top but you can walk through the bottom half as well as a few other buildings, there was an informative video playing. The area out back is a must with the black rocks right on the water (accessible for free).

sorry about pictures lol, on May 29th that day was sunny 🌞 n cloudy mixed 😅 by the time we got to 2 harbor Duluth lighthouse n it was cloudy, less visitors and it was great for taking 😀, love it and enjoy walking to lighthouse, local guy didn't catch anything while we had little chats. since it was cloudy n windy walked around lighthouse, we didn't really clearly what it was in the water in cloudy day. but we took lots fun pictures, on the way to lighthouse and we stopped at McQuade small restaurant n tiny parking lot, since not schools off yet, there were not many visitors in Duluth, it was easy parking n really fast got our late lunch orders at 2pm. the foods we got chicken salad, chicken was too dry n too salty n small portion for me, the patty burger n patty was too dry too, but i do recommend no bread deep fry chicken wings come with side French fries, both really crispy but salty for my liking 😋. service was good too. there were 4 construction on the way to 2 harbor Duluth, but it was ok for us driving since it was not peak season, but it looked like more state patrol on the way lol, when we came n we lost cellphone signal couple times and we used Google map lol, otherwise we had good time to 2 harbor Duluth. rest areas we stopped were both nice n clean, wish n hope they can put gas stations n restaurant in the rest area like other states, so we can just 1 stop to get what we want for long trip lol. thx ❤️

A quaint lighthouse to visit. It is a B&B as well. This lighthouse was part lighthouse and living quarters for the keepers. It even had the original oil house as well where they stored the oil. The gift shop shop was the extra fog house. On site was also a pilot house from an old ship. Great history notes and photos in both places. Lots of trails to walk on. Yu can also walk out to the point where the other fog horn lighthouse is. Unfortunately, some of it was tagged. There is a little beach to relax and wade in the water. definitely worth a trip to.

Castle Danger Brewery is a popular spot in downtown Two Harbors, offering a wide range of legendary beers known for their balanced and approachable flavors. The brewery features a 30 barrel brewing system, canning line, and a contemporary yet rustic taproom with an outdoor patio overlooking Lake Superior. Visitors can enjoy tasting the delectable brews while taking in the fresh breeze from the lake.
I’ve been to dozens and dozens breweries in many different states and after much contemplation I declared this to be my favorite! Every pour is delicious. The landscaping and layout are so beautiful, plenty of seating, quiet/private table conversation because of the way the seating is arranged outside. Tons of games. Adorable gift shop. The food truck was fabulous. Snacks and ice cream were top notch.

Great spot to enjoy some beer and the company of others. We sampled several flights and spent a few hours here playing games (provided free by the bar). We had pizza delivered right to our table from nearby Do North. We didn’t particularly enjoy many of the beers and the bartender was particularly unpleasant. It’s not the most welcoming service which is unfortunate, given what a lovely atmosphere the place had outside of this interaction.

Castle Danger is a must-stop brewery on the North Shore. The beer flights are fantastic and give you a chance to try a wide range of their special brews. They also have seltzer options for gluten-free drinkers, which is a nice touch. The food truck adds solid food options, and the taproom has a fun, relaxed vibe with board games available. Great beer, great atmosphere, and a spot worth hanging out at.

We visited on a Saturday afternoon and it was very busy. We sat at the bar and were serviced quickly but later had trouble getting anyone’s attention so we decided to cash out. We went to the “take home beer” area were able to sample a few beers there and ended up purchasing some to-go beer. The Aurora Haze and West Coast IPA’s were good but the Maple Marzen was a big surprise as I normally do not like this style of beer.

Castle Danger is an iconic brewery near the North Shore and worth stopping by if you're a brew lover. The outdoor atmosphere is relaxing and chill on a nice day and the indoor vibe is cozy when ole superior brings the cooler temperatures or rain. My personal recommendation: A pint of Castle Cream Ale 🍻

A beautiful spot for a pint or two. Lots of seating indoors and a huge patio area. Nut Brown Ale was fabulous. Family friendly, lots of games and outdoor activities for kids and adults. Last night there was a food truck serving Mexican favorites and live music. Limited food otherwise (chips, pretzels, and such). Some people brought in their own food and someone had pizza delivered. Very laid back and friendly.

We booked a tour for the brown bears and it was an amazing experience. Feeding a carrot to a 1,000 pound (super adorable) predator is something I'll never forget. Tundra's breath was remarkably fresh! They were really hamming it up and being silly, I'm glad we got to see them before they tuck away for the winter. Even out in their habitat, they were fighting the snoozers trying to keep awake. Sweet dreams, guys! I've visited many accredited zoos. LSZ felt like a more private experience and a celebration of the north. There's a lot of native animals that are normally overlooked in zoos with bigger exotics, though there were still some beautiful non-native creatures like the snow leopard. The climbing areas are seriously impressive, I've been in bigger zoos that didn't offer that much vertical space. Every keeper was genuinely excited to talk about their animals. It was pleasant for us adults, but there were also children that looked like they were having fun at some sort of educational experience. This is a really special place that deserves more funding.

Genuinely speaking, if I could give negative stars, I would. These animals are not getting quality care. Nearly all of the exhibits are horrifically overgrown and unmaintained. Most of the exhibits don’t have clean or fresh… or literally any water. The cougar’s water area was bone dry, the bears had green water, the birds had mud puddles. The lion’s exhibit is absurdly small. None of these animals seemed happy at all. Most of them had zero enrichment in their exhibits. Oh! And most exhibits had no shade. It has been hot and to have no clean water or shade is neglectful and honestly abusive. If you can’t care for these animals properly, give them to a zoo or refuge that will. They all seemed so depressed. I have never been so disgusted by a zoo in my entire life.

My family and I got to see alot of animals that we have not seen at the Como or the Minnesota Zoo. This was nice because we actually got to see the animals. It looked like they were upgrading some of the exibits, and I think they could use some funds to upgrade a few more. One thing I think they could work on would be the signage. It was not real clear on which way to go for certain exibits. Overall we had a nice time.

I cannot describe to you how horrific the conditions are here. There appears to be little to no maintenance and smell was so foul. There is a reason you have to pay outside of the building. Almost every single exhibit is incredibly overgrown or it has hardly any vegetation at all. The pathways look like the weedwacker broke 5+ years ago and they didn't bother to buy a new one. There are dead trees and branches all over. Every exhibit that had water in it was gross. Most of the plexiglass was so scratched up or damaged/dirty that you couldn't see the animals. Several exhibits were closed. It appears the kangaroo just escaped? There was caution tape and missing fencing. No signage about repairs though. The signage to get around the zoo was incredibly unhelpful. I felt like the tribute statues to the polar bears, rhinos, etc. were there to tell you that it used to be a 'nice' zoo. Overall, very dissatisfied with this trip.

A fun place to visit, but definitely grab a map, the paths can be a little confusing. We enjoyed exploring for a couple hours on a beautiful fall day.

A very nice zoo with lots of animals to visit! I especially loved watching the adorable and playful river otters and the red panda! So cute! We got to see a tiger, lemurs, goats, prairie dogs, otters, a kangaroo, and many other animals. A great place to visit!

Great experience and a wide selection of animals. We came during the day in October, it was 65° and we're able to see nearly every animal that was out.

Great place to see the zoo animals and have a good family experience. Some animals did not look very active due to the size of their closure but still, you see the animals.

Spirit Mountain Recreation Area, nestled in Duluth, Minnesota, is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. It offers a wide range of activities throughout the year, from wintertime downhill skiing to summertime adventure park fun. The area boasts an impressive 700-foot vertical drop and features eight lifts, including a high-speed quad, as well as 22 runs and two terrain parks spread across nearly 200 acres.
Incredible bike trails, wow! I'm so impressed with the place. Thanks for having some pedal up options, and the new blue climb trail (name TBD) and beam me up Scotty blue flow trail down (rides more like a light blue/dark green especially in comparison to everything in the actual bike park rating scale) are amazing! Kuddos to the trail builders and the business, keep it up 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Our kids were 5 and 3 when we visited last fall. We didn't know for sure what to expect so only bought the minimum to try out the coaster. Our kids LOVED it so much I wish I had planned some extra time here. When we go back in the future the all day pass will be so worth it!

The Coaster ride was super fun and a little scary during the quick turns. The line was crazy long with about 40 people in front of us. It took about a minute per person for the line to move...guessing. the scenery was amazing during the ride. It was fairly easy to get on and off the ride. Im a bigger person. My husband is very tall and he fit fine. It was easy to control the carts.

Not worth the money. Paid for the unlimited ride package (4x $50) and didn’t get to ride more than once on each ride. Lines are ridiculous! Over 1 hour per ride. Waited less time for a Disney ride. If they can’t handle the business they should limit the amount of people can visit each day! Money and time wasted!

Spirit Mountain is irresponsible for overselling adventure passes and single tickets for Friday October 17th. Wait time for the Alpine Coaster 2.5 hrs and the zip line 1.5 hour plus. Terrible customer experience and will not visit again during this time of year. Spent $200 for nothing. Save your money and time. Ridiculous.

went just to wait in line for an hour, then the ride closes for an emergency, then told to wait in the 2 hour alpine coaster ride before close, then wait another 45 minutes in line to get a refund. I feel for the employees, but going just to wait in line for 2 hours and get nothing out of it sucks. wouldn’t recommend going on a saturday, or getting tickets in advance.

If you buy tickets online it's cheaper. 10 for $100. We also got free mini golf. We did the alpine coasters over and over. I am plus size and I fit in just fine with no safety issues. I was also able to do the zip line

Waited in line for the coaster for 3 hours and then when we got to the front they closed the ride due to a malfunction that lead to a medical emergency. Then they wanted us to wait in the refund line. I would not recommend coming unless you want to waste your time.
