Troy Waterfront Farmers Market (Winter)

Farmers' market
Shopping
Flea & Street Markets
Update: came in early SUMMER! Arrived at 10am Fantastic day. Lots of people and dogs for this great weather. Still a great site with food vendors, flowers, veggies, small brands, jewelry, drinks, coffee, vintage apparel. It was very well staffed, help areas, first aid areas. Parking was a bit of a challenge but there is a free parking lot near the water. It was free right next to the market. Previous post: Great local market. Lovely fall morning slight overcast. Full of food vendors for breakfast. A ton of coffee vendors and snacks. Local produce and vegetables. Beautiful farm fresh flowers. A lot of street parking and a few lots nearby. We got there at 9:30am and left around 11am. Plenty of crowds but great market! Highly recommend and would go again.

I’m from downstate and I had a such a good time on a cold spring day with friends x I honestly got lost they had specialty good the pesto bread guy was great. You can definitely get some organic food here and specialty goods! I learned a lot at the cornel cooperative extension short form workshops and then got some gifts from Cole Kamp and they were super accommodating in suggesting the adjustable jewelry. Also wow the hot cider here was so good I missed having some . The lavenders also keep me sane my whole almost 17 hours journey back home (long story), super fresh and grounding , got it from the florist there! Definitely go on a budget 😶‍🌫️

Troy Farmers Market is truly one of the best local markets in the Capital Region! As Alaturco Gyro Restaurant, we feel honored to be a part of this vibrant community. The energy, the people, the support for small businesses , everything is just incredible. We love sharing our homemade Mediterranean flavors with the amazing crowd every week. Thank you for creating such a welcoming and well-organized space for vendors and visitors alike!

Extravaganza of sights, sounds and aromas! We had our fill and walked around sightseeing. Excellent experience and kudos to everyone taking part.
Thomas M — Google review
An absolute experience every time, feels like something out of Brooklyn or DC on a weekend. Great vendors, local farms and artists represented, plenty of people watching, extremely dog friendly, walkable, vendors spread throughout the many streets and alleyways downtown, with the park that overlooks the Hudson River just beckoning you to have a little impromptu picnic with all the things you bought. I literally spend the day here meandering through the market and adjacent shops/small businesses. Much better places to spend your money than the big box, bland and boring grocery store chains in the area. I’ve found the best items here from food to flowers to books and art/decor. There’s usually $1/minute chair massage also (hello self care!), readings and other entertainment or exhibits to see. Open year round- moves inside on Third Street during colder months. BY FAR- the top of the farmers markets in the area.
Rissa — Google review
Amazing farmers market. Tons of stands down several street, and the vendors are all so helpful and friendly. There’s great options for food and fresh fruits/veggies as well as home goods, crafts, drinks, flowers, etc.. If you’re in the area on a Saturday, definitely stop by here and shop around.
Jodie — Google review
What an experience! Few markets in the world have it all, and this one is the one. I found great food and nice knick knacks for my home. Just the adventure of going to Troy, NY, is worth a Saturday morning.
Monica S — Google review
Lots of vendors! I bought a 2”x3” leather wallet, 3 small heads of butter lettuce & 4 small pkgs of fresh sprouts, & a quart of Strawberries all for $120.00. I don’t know where people are getting their money, but we won’t be back. What a bust.

Palace Theatre

Performing arts theater
Concerts & Shows
The Palace Theatre, located in the Clinton Avenue Historic District, is a stunning Baroque-style theater dating back to 1931. With a seating capacity of 2,844, it hosts concerts, classic movies, and performances by the Albany Symphony Orchestra. The theater underwent extensive restoration in both 1960 and between 2002-2003. Visitors are transported back in time upon entering the opulent venue with its impressive architecture and excellent acoustics.
I absolutely love this iconic venue. The architecture in it is Just amazing. The acoustics are awesome. Seats are pretty comfy. If you're up in the balcony, just know you have to take the stairs. There are no elevators. I've seen a lot of great concerts here over the years. Just last week I saw Melissa Etherridge again here.
13shadylady13 — Google review
The Palace Theatre is an amazing venue right in the heart of Downtown Albany. Despite its age, it has been restored and truly is a work of art. I found the venue to be very clean, the seats in the upper section were spacious, and the venue has streamlined the exits they have so getting out after a sold out show isn’t hard at all. Street parking is around the venue or if you prefer there are parking garages nearby.
Jack F — Google review
Beautiful older well-kept venue in the heart of downtown Albany. We were there to see Australian Pink Floyd and had Loge seats in the balcony. Perfect seats with great views. Concession stands were reasonably priced compared to other venues. This building is a true gem with a million beautiful details.
Jackie A — Google review
One of the best concert venues in town! It's a gorgeous older theater with colorful murals and intricate sculptures everywhere. The chandelier is amazing. The sound is always good, and there isn't a bad seat in the house.
Leslie T — Google review
What a great place to see a concert! My boyfriend and I enjoyed an incredible show last week when Melissa Etheridge and a very pregnant Joss Stone came to town. We had great seats, but this place doesn't look like it has a bad seat in the house! The staff were friendly and helpful, and the bar lines moved quickly! I look forward to going back for many future performances! PS: Parking is also convenient and close, and the lot had a reasonable flat rate of $20 for the show!
Deborah S — Google review
Flew in from Louisiana to attend my daughter's graduation. When I saw The Palace Theater was the venue it was being held I thought to myself, "WOW! How beautiful and swanky"!!! Well, that was a quick assumption because how hot and uncomfortable they had that place was UNREAL!!! It was 93 degrees outside! Y'ALL SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!!! All of the graduates was on stage fanning themselves! I felt sorry for them because they had to be extremely hot with all those lights shining down on them!
Mrs. J — Google review
My first time to Palace Theater, went to see John Cleese. Note: I’ll adjust this interview after future visits depending on additional observations. Of course, he was funny, though it was disappointing how little of his time he actually gave before/after the screening of Holy Grail. I’ll set that aside, though, and focus on reviewing the venue. 1: Parking availability. While not in the theater’s direct control, still an important factor. Thankfully, there are plenty of places to park with an easy walk to the theater, given how many other attractions are nearby. Just be aware that the prices to park vary dramatically - if you’re able to get a metered spot, it’s quite reasonable. Otherwise, I’ve encountered public and private parking when I’ve went to other things nearby that varies from $5 to $30, which is kind of crazy. 2 - Look/architecture Beautiful, classic, really a treasure. No notes. 3 - Seat comfort With the caveat that I’ve only been there once and sat in middle/aisle/orchestra - I’d say the seats were decently comfortable for people of average and tall height. Legroom isn’t too bad (I’ve seen soooo much worse, just look at many of the Broadway theaters in NYC). Width is reasonable for beings of average/just above average girth. 4 - Sound This is where I have a serious issue, and where I wonder if this is a common issue here or not. During the talking portions of the evening, it was difficult to make out what John Cleese was saying at points; the sound was muddled. He doesn’t have a particularly thick accent, and I’ve seen fairly recent interviews with him on streaming (eg he recently did one on BBC morning) and it was fine. The worst of it, though, was the actual screening of the movie. It was brutally loud, like “hey, let’s set the volume like we’re giving a death metal concert” loud. I felt like I was being assaulted with sound, and the recording in use clearly wasn’t meant to be blasted at those levels as it was scratchy/distorted at points. I had a throbbing headache after a few minutes which lasted for hours. So…overall, not the best experience. I’m giving 3 stars for now under the assumption that the sound issues were due to poor choices by staff touring with Mr. Cleese; I’ll update next time I go to something here.
Robert — Google review
It was a beautiful theater I loved the multiple bar stations I loved the concession stand for popcorn and candy I loved the Christmas tree and care tables look down to the atrium It's very beautiful lots of gold embellishments I loved the angels all around It was gorgeous The only issue was set break and they filtered everyone out the side door and it was crazy chaotic and potentially dangerous People were coming on and out of 1 door People being hundreds... And it was raining so the other doors were blocked by people outside under the eave It was nuts But we survived Overall You guessed it I love the Palace Theater

New York State Capitol

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
The New York State Capitol is a stunning historical landmark with a renaissance-revival design that serves as the seat of government for the state. The building boasts intricate architectural details both inside and out, including features reminiscent of a French chateau. Free tours are available on weekdays, providing visitors with an opportunity to appreciate the beauty and grandeur of this majestic structure.
Paid street parking is available. If you park on State Street, it is easy to get to the State Capitol building and to the I Love NY letters The building is an absolute masterpiece of late 19th-century architecture, with a stunning blend of Romanesque and Renaissance styles. It's truly a sight to behold, both inside and out. The intricate stone carvings and the grand staircases are particularly impressive—the "Million Dollar Staircase" is wonderful and feels like something out of a fantasy novel.
Asiri B — Google review
Must see. The three massive, intricately carved interior stone staircases alone are worth the free admission and your time, now with restored skylights admitting gorgeous natural light. Don’t miss the Hall of New York paintings gallery or resplendent assembly chamber with its stained glass windows and carved coffered ceiling.
Rebecca T — Google review
The New York State Capitol building is truly breathtaking. Its intricate and unique architecture stands out with incredible detail and craftsmanship. The massive stone structure is both historic and majestic, making it one of the most impressive landmarks in Albany. Whether you’re into architecture or just sightseeing, this is definitely a place worth visiting.
Tara — Google review
Absolutely incredible. We have been to almost every capitol building in the US and this one is my favorite! Wish we could have done the tour. Simply stunning architecture and so much variety. Great exhibits inside. Street parking was relatively inexpensive.
Melissa M — Google review
Of all the 35 or so state capitols I have seen, this is probably the best. The scale and architecture of the place is amazing. Came on a Saturday during a pass through of the area, so didn't get to see the inside, which I am sure is fabulous. I am sure parking on a weekday not fun. I will definitely be back to tour the inside.
Jimmer W — Google review
This Capitol is amazingly beautiful. If you happen to be in the area it is 100% worth the visit. They offer free tours, and Amy did a great job today.
Dawnie — Google review
The New York State Capitol is one of the most stunning buildings in Albany — a masterpiece of stonework and history. The Million Dollar Staircase inside is breathtaking, with intricate carvings, portraits, and details that show off incredible craftsmanship. Every corner feels like a piece of art. Whether you’re into architecture, history, or just want a beautiful place to explore, this building is a must-see.

My best tip: take the FREE hour-long tour. The friendly, knowledgeable guide (ours was Lorraine) will take you to areas you may not be able to access on your own, all the while providing interesting facts that will truly enhance your appreciation of the history and architecture of this landmark. We had an unforgettable experience at MVP Arena for my son's graduation! 🎓 Everything was perfectly organized — from the parking to the seating and sound system. The arena was clean, comfortable, and spacious enough to hold all the proud families and friends. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the big screens made it easy to see every moment. A day we will always remember — thank you for being part of such a special milestone for the Class of 2025!

I always come here for their show games and other events. The latest venue I attended was the You're My Best Friend comedy show by Adam Sandler. It was phenomenal he really brought a great show to Albany. I'm very grateful to be a part of this town and events. Look forward to coming here for more shows the atmosphere is always great.
Jeivan C — Google review
Saw Billy Strings here Nov25. Nice arena... Similar to MGM in Springfield. Concessions had your standard fare... Bathrooms were located down a flight of stairs which didn't bother me but should be noted. Viewing and acoustics were great.
Geoffrey G — Google review
Plenty of parking nearby (both on-street and garages). A few local restaurants within walking distance. Concessions easily accessible from anywhere in the arena. Bathrooms are downstairs. Just note that they have size limits on purses that can be brought in.
Christine K — Google review
The seats were nice I like that they were elevated. I just wish people would sit so we could see better. That is why the seats are elevated.
Eileen F — Google review
My husband , our son and I went to see the hot wheels event , it was great . The venue has lots of food and drink options . There was plenty of parking as well . The only complain I have is the seats are to close together . Everyone has to move if one person does , which was such a pain . We got the snow cone , Reese's dough bites , and pizza. Lines get very long for food/drinks !

Sights & Landmarks
The USS SLATER is a museum located in the U.S. that offers tours of the last remaining WWII-era destroyer escort ship still afloat in the country. Visitors can explore various areas of the ship including the galley, guns, and quarters. The knowledgeable and informative guides provide insight into what life may have been like during active service on board. Unlike other boat museum ships, visitors are able to sit on and move the ship's guns around for a more interactive experience.
This was a great experience. My husband is a big history buff and he loved it. My kids 9, 3 and 1 did well with it, the two older even enjoyed it, though it may not be every kids cup of tea. My husband wants to go back to do a longer tour when our oldest is able to go along. The tour guide was very informative, really cool piece of reserved U.S. history.
Carol — Google review
Great place to visit, very informative and tons of tourists options to meet your needs (physical/time/interest). Staff were very friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly enjoy their job. Riaf (sp?) was awesome! Found this through a Google search of "things to do with kids in Albany" and was very happy that I did. Albany was the half-way point on a road trip from Boston for my 8YO son, 72YO dad, and me. Definitely recommend! Was right off the highway, 30min tour allowed us to stretch our legs but not be detoured too long for arriving at our final destination. There is free parking and also a picnic area to enjoy sitting and watching the river.
Ellen M — Google review
Visiting the USS Slater was an absolutely incredible experience! This was the first warship we have ever had the chance to explore, and it completely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we stepped aboard, we were transported back in time and given a vivid sense of what life was like for those who served on this historic vessel. Our tour guide was phenomenal and extremely knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about sharing the ship’s history. Every story, every detail, and every corner of the ship came alive through their explanations. The restoration work on the USS Slater is nothing short of extraordinary. It’s clear that countless hours of dedication and care went into preserving every detail, from the machinery to the living quarters, and it’s inspiring to see history kept alive so meticulously. We took the full bow-to-stern tour, which allowed us to see every aspect of the ship, from the operational areas to the crew quarters. It was fascinating to witness how this ship functioned during its active service. What made the experience even more special was the combination of history, hands-on exploration, and personal storytelling. You really gain a deep appreciation for the challenges, bravery, and daily life of those who served aboard. The USS Slater isn’t just a museum, it’s a living piece of history that gives visitors an unforgettable, immersive experience. We walked away not only educated but truly inspired, and it’s a memory we will cherish forever. This is absolutely a must do for anyone visiting the area, whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply looking for a unique and meaningful adventure!
Kyle Q — Google review
This has been something I've wanted to experience for a while. While I was not able to go aboard. I did really appreciate the staff they were very helpful and upfront with answering my questions about the accessibility of the ship. I could of gotten aboard with my wheelchair but I would not have been able to do much more than just that. The visitor center & gift shop are completely accessible. And they have a very nice observation deck with interpretive signage. I could fully see every part of the ship. I couldn't really get a good photo of the USS Slater in it's entirety. 🫡🇺🇸
Landon M — Google review
My son and I had a fantastic tour given by Art who is a very informative and enthusiastic guide. It was amazing to see a war ship so well cared for and preserved. Art shared an abundance of insight into the working of the ship and the men who served on it. He provided information you don't read about in books such as why the cook may ask if you are right or left handed during rough weather or why the officers preferred the top bunks. My son will be talking about the tour for a very long time. I highly recommend it if you are in the area.
Nancy B — Google review
While I did not get a chance to tour. It was fun to get a chance to finally see the ship from the outside. Big thanks to New Jersey's Ryan Szimanski efforts on YouTube that made me aware of this and many other very cool ships! Please feel free to use these pictures for promotion.

The U.S.S. Slater was an amazing tour worth the time. I took the "Stem to Stern" which is the 2 hour tour and includes the engine room. I highly recommend this as an educational and enjoyable experience. The tour I took was $25 and worth every penny

Angela and I had a great time visiting USS Slater and we learned a lot during the Stem to Stern tour with Scott! Their radio room is open most Saturday mornings, and as amateur radio operators, it was a privilege to make radio contacts from the ship.

My family and I loved staying here. Our apartment was very spacious, with beautiful views. The grounds were well kept and clean. Neighbors were polite and quiet. The staff were all very nice and helpful. We had two choices of restaurants nearby to eat with reasonable prices and the price for a family of 5 weekend stay in June was very good. We plan to return.

Giving a 3 star. Desk receptionist was very friendly informative and professional I liked her a lot. Going to the rooms the hallway sticks and walking into our room smelled of really odd chemicals very strong! The water fosset sprays everywhere. The doors are horrible! You have to slam them to shut the don't close or open with out some force. The property is really nice all outside is cool nice size fun stuff to do. We won't stay over again but may just do the adventure parks.
Sarah C — Google review
An absolutely beautiful resort! I couldn't have felt more at home. Really shows the difference between a family owned operation & the commercially owned resorts. Beautiful terrain, accommodation & snowmaking. One of my absolute favorite places after 26yrs of making snow. Everybody cares a little more than they need too, which says volumes. Always striving for improvement🏆
Jason G — Google review
My partner and I did a long-term (4 months) stay in a room in The CountryInn. Overall, the resort is good. It's in a beautiful part of the state, though it is a bit remote/secluded (e.g., it takes 25 minutes to get to a full grocery store). The staff were helpful, and there are several amenities for entertainment and practicality. The building is generally clean, and they were doing many renovations during our stay, as the building is old and they care to upkeep it. The walls are thin and it's easy to hear people in the hallway, in the rooms next to you and above you.

Reviewing here as both a hotel and ski slope. I’ve stayed in the rooms a number of times, including when we rented out many for a wedding, and have always been satisfied. Service is good and rooms are standard. In terms of skiing, it’s in a super convenient location for Williams students. However, the trails are usually pretty icy, so make sure to check the conditions and try to go when there’s been a recent snowfall. Pretty small number of trails. I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to plan a ski trip here, but if you’re in the area, it’s nice to have a place to ski like Jiminy.

Excellent location. Didn't have to leave the resort for anything except site seeing. Very clean facility including the outdoor pool and hot tub. Inside hot tub was down for maintenance. The only other negative was the express chair lift that runs to the top of the mountain was not running and that was one of the reasons we chose Jiminy Peak. The room was very accommodating there was a stove, fridge, microwave, toaster, blender pots, pans dishes, keurig, coffe pot, coffee, tea, extra toiletries galore. Very nice stay over all.

We stayed at Jiminy Peak Resort this summer and absolutely loved it! The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The location is stunning, with beautiful views and plenty of activities to enjoy in the area. Everything was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained

Their Halloween event is incredibly poorly managed. Lines are insane. 2hrs in and still nothing. Allow tickets for time slots or something more efficient going forward. Dont recommend for kids.

Nice and relaxing farm. Has a big variety of animals and a lot of other activities for kids. Would definitely recommend for others

Went for brunch with friends. First time visiting the farm and found the food to be good. Also purchased some beef to cook at home and other stuff. Unfortunately did not get the chance to see the animals in the barn. Will on another visit.

I thought there would be alot more animals. I think it costs wasaay too much for adults. 3 adults n 1 child over $60.00!!!!

Our grand kids had a great time. The staff was very friendly as were the animals.

My husband and I had a great time at Ioka Valley Farm. The tour of the sugarhouse and learning about the process of making maple syrup was interesting and educational, we had a lot of fun taste-testing the products, and enjoyed a delightful brunch at the Calf-A. Great place for families, kids, and the average adventurer looking to learn about maple syrup and try some of the best! Would highly recommend a visit to anyone in the area looking for a fun (and delicious!) way to spend an hour or so. All of the staff were very friendly and made me and my service dog feel welcome, especially Margie, thank you! (Please note, NO PETS allowed.)

The people who run and who visit this farm are amazing! I recently had an opportunity to run my car into a ditch there, and the amazing response of everyone who came to my aid will always make me smile …if you’re looking for a place where people are still wonderful and helpful and the pie is amazing, don’t miss Ioka Valley Farm. And THANK YOU!

We LOVE going to Ioka every fall for our pumpkins. The people are soo wonderful and kind. My son is now 14 and we both have a blast every year. Not only that, but you HAVE to visit their sugar house. Maple cream and butter are very good.

Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, is a must-visit destination for music enthusiasts. The venue offers a magical blend of classical, jazz, and popular music against the backdrop of nature's sounds. Visitors can enjoy gourmet picnics on the rolling lawn while listening to concerts with grand acoustics. Additionally, Lenox is known for its outdoor spaces and as the host town for the Tanglewood Music Festival.
Wow, such a beautiful place with world-class music and amazing scenery. I love their lawn pass, which allows us to do picnic while listening to the music. Their grass is so well maintained that I walked around with bare feet and my feet were still clean. Definitely coming again!

Heavenly retreat with superb facilities for outdoor listening pleasure. Lustrous grounds, with areas for picnicking, and a dynamite schedule that features a diversity of musical styles, primarily performed by Boston Symphony Orchestra or Boston Pops. Local famous artists (James Taylor, Yo-Yo Ma), and visiting artists come here during the summer. Food options are OK; best to bring your own food if you plan to picnic.

The Lawn at Tanglewood is the best place to be! Plan ahead, pack a picnic: Blanket, folding chairs, small table, wireless lamp or candles, ice bucket, food 🥖 🥐 🧀, wine 🍷, and thou. We were here again to see the soulful, heartfelt, best female guitarist and keyboard performer, beautiful Bonnie Raitt, after 4 years when we first saw her after the pandemic. Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🎸 🥁 🎹 🎼 🎶 🎙️ 🎼🎶
Cam E — Google review
Loved walking around prior to the concert, plenty of space for blankets and chairs, you can only drink alcohol in your designated seating area. Bug spray would have been smart, we got an Uber from town which saved us the long line of traffic into the parking lot, but staff in parking could not agree on where ride share drop-off was (each stop point had to ask the next stop point). The verdict was "limo drop-off" would be the best thing to say because it drops you near the gates.
Mistie C — Google review
Anyone in area that can make it should really make an effort to try and go and see a concert at Tanglewood Was really an incredible experience for the price ($35). People bring legit tables and outdoor feasts with friends and family to enjoy music Something you need to experience to get Sound no matter how far you were from the stage was crystal clear Would suggest coming a few hours early as there's a lot to see around the venue but also because parking is crazy and so is the seating on the lawn. Good to grab an area and parking spot
Robert B — Google review
Great venue for a concert. And the Lenox locals know how to party in the lawn seats. Charcuterie boards and all kinds of fancy spreads. Amazing! There's also great stands with BBQ, fried foods, quick self serve snacks and ice cream. It's easy to exit with West and East parking and great attendants.

Woah 😳! There was so much to explore! I had a pleasant time exploring the grounds before the show and during intermission. A great 👍 place to view a sunset! Oh, it is a good place to see 🙈 a live show. I like the partial maze in the garden area. You will not see Jack Nicholson yelling "Danny!" while carrying an ax! At least I hope you don't! Redrum! 🤫 Shh! The sundial, Whispering Bench, sculptures , the interesting looking houses and even a few of the trees. I was surprised I was not bothered by any 🐝 insects, especially 🦟 mosquitoes. The Koussevitzky Music 🎶 Shed, not the Author "Two Sheds" Jackson, was a good place to watch a performance. Large screens helped people who were further back 🔙 and on the lawn watch the show. The shed can get warm 🥵 on a hot night. They could use some fans to circulate the air inside. The lighting and acoustics were good. The food at the cafeteria was okay but overpriced. They did run out of items on the menu. Security did not hassle myself or anyone I observed. They will check ✔️ bags before you enter. I had no issues with parking 🅿️. There is plenty of parking 🅿️ available and it is free 🆓. There are a lot of bathrooms and a few porta potties. The bathrooms I used were in good condition. They do sell beer 🍺 here. Wheelchairs ♿ are provided for guests. One lady I chatted with actually had on delivered to her at the cafeteria. I came to see "A Prairie Home Companion" and I enjoyed watching it. I do not remember them swearing 🤬 as much at being overly political. I am going to recommend a visit. I may visit again depending on who is playing. It was a long drive for me.

Our tour of the house with Ranger Zach was excellent. We learned a lot and the tour was worth it. There is no fee for the tour. You sign up for the tour at the visitor center. No advance reservations. Also walked around the grounds.

Fun, short educational trip down history lane about one of the founding Democratic party leaders. (but remember there is a distinction between the current party and the founders.) The house has been lovingly restored! It includes a beautiful selection of original and reproduction furniture. It really provides a glimpse into what the Dutch household looked like. Be sure to check tour schedule. Tours asked about one hour. Even though the location closes a certain time, the last tour may be about an hour and a half before closing.

Had riven by so many times and had never stopped. Took the short, free, tour and walked around the grounds. Kicking my self for not having done this sooner. Very interesting. Informative. Free. The National Parks Service does a fantastic job.

We arrived on a Friday and there were no tours. Probably a quick hour stop if you’re just walking around. I was actually disappointed with the exterior condition. Peeling paint, moldy/dirty windows. The front porch had bird poop all over. There were 3 National Park workers there. I guess they don’t do any mild maintenance at all. Overall we were glad we stopped.

This free tour was quick but 100% worth your time. The house has some original wallpaper! The rangers were knowledgeable and the hour-ish tour was a great introduction to a President I didn’t know much about.

Lindenwald is a hidden gem in the Hudson Valley, it's spacious and has a lot of history to tell. Close to other Martin van Buren historical places and the view at the back - to the right of the Peter van Ness gravesite is stunning. Everyone should go and learn more about Martin van Buren.

A chance to visit a former President's home, and the town he was born in. There is no fee and our tour guide, Park Ranger Dawn took us through the house and shared her knowledge of its' history. Tours are on the hour (registration at the office) and there are walking trails around the property. Nearby are Stuyvesant Falls and Brooklyn Pizza (which I recommend).

Naumkeag, located in Stockbridge, MA, is a stunning 19th-century summer home that offers visitors the chance to explore its spacious grounds and opulent mansion. The main house showcases the grandeur of the Gilded Age with its intricate detailing and ornate decor in every room. The eight acres of gardens are a sight to behold, featuring vibrant displays like the Afternoon Garden and tranquil spaces such as the Rose Garden and the famous Blue Steps.
Absolutely stunning. The mansion is beautiful, but the real star is the gardens that surround it. Some reviews from Halloween or Christmas visitors were underwhelmed, likely because they went at night when it’s too dark to fully appreciate the landscape—no surprise there. I highly recommend going in late spring or early summer to truly take in the scenery that makes this place so special. The staff was also friendly and helpful. A must-go!

Beautiful Gilded Age home of the Choate family built 1885 and well preserved. Gorgeous maintained gardens on 48 acres of land. Tour guides are well versed and very informative. Enjoy the glory and many acquisitions of the Choate family home as they expanded their magnificent abode from the Gilded Age to modern times, when they decided to preserve the home and grounds in their entirety to the Trustees landmark organization. **$20 admission - tours are included ** Thank you!

My wife and I drove a little over an hour from the Hudson Valley to see The Incredible Naumkeag Pumpkin Show, and it was absolutely worth the trip! Parking and shuttles were plentiful and well organized. We parked in town near the Red Lion Inn and only waited about five minutes for a shuttle to the estate. I imagine weekends get much busier, but visiting on a weekday made everything easy and relaxed. The event itself is a beautiful walking tour through the Naumkeag gardens, all lit up with thousands of glowing pumpkins. Most of the displays are made with foam pumpkins (which makes perfect sense—real ones wouldn’t last the season), but they’re done so creatively that you barely notice. The walk through the grounds was peaceful and enchanting. We never felt rushed or crowded and were able to take our time enjoying the displays and lights. Just note: the paths have some hills and uneven spots, so it could be challenging for anyone with mobility issues. It reminded us of a similar event at an estate in the lower Hudson Valley—just on a slightly smaller, more intimate scale. All in all, a wonderful evening out and well worth both the ticket price and the drive. Not scary at all, so it’s perfect for families—kids will love all the glowing pumpkins! 🎃

We attended their Halloween event. You buy tickets in advance online. Parking in Stockbridge was easy and the shuttle bus runs frequently. We never waited more than 5 minutes. The displays are well done. The path leads you through the woods, a greenhouse, and the residence. We walked through in about 45-60 minutes, but you could easily spend 90 minutes there as there is so much to see. The path has some steps or mild grades to walk up and down. Total distance of the walk is likely 1/3 mile, maybe a little more. There is a snack shack for drinks and snacks. The bathrooms are closed but plenty of portapotties available.

We went to the Incredible Pumpkin Show. Lots of fun for young and old. It took about an hour to go through. You have to take a shuttle (school bus) from downtown to get there. We grabbed a bite and some wine at the Lion's Den after. Great time.

The Norman Rockwell Museum, located in Stockbridge, is a must-see attraction for art enthusiasts and history buffs. The museum showcases a significant collection of the artist's original work and memorabilia in his hometown. Visitors can explore the museum's permanent and changing exhibitions featuring Rockwell's iconic paintings, sketches, and photographs, as well as works by other renowned illustrators.
I just visited the museum and like to say it was a beautiful experience for me and my wife. We were even able to pick apples at the Rockwell apple grove, that was one of the things on our bucket list. The whole museum and grounds are well worth the visit. I never expected to see all these amazing paintings and structures on the grounds. The building where he lived in and did his paintings, that is a must visit and is worth the price. So don’t miss that if you visit the site.if you new to artworks like me, then it would be and educational experience for you. Enjoy 😉

A visit to the Norman Rockwell Museum is an experience not to be missed. The grounds and buildings are very well-kept. Rockwell was an incredible artist, and seeing so many of his magazine covers and other artworks was a delight. He was a true master of capturing the human spirit. We also had the pleasure to see an exhibit of Walter Wick's Hidden Wonders, and some great sculptures on the grounds.

Great place to visit when you are in Berkshire, Massachusetts. It has big collections of his painting about all American life in his periods. He was a great portrait painter too. His last painting was in 1963 at the end of that year for Saturday Evening post of New York with the portrait of JFK who was assassinated in November of 1963 the estate is quite large with pastoral feel. Anyway I learned it elsewhere that his life was not as happy as he portray in his paintings because if the painting was not happy one the journal with rejected it. So the paintings were the projections of the life he wish he had. His real life was that of unhappy, insecure and sad and depression somewhere in between. I do enjoy this museum. It was my second visit here. The last time was nearly 10 years ago.

We were on a short driving tour of the Berkshires and we stayed in Lenox as a base. Each day, we drove out to see various historic sites like the gilded age mansions and of course the Rockwell Museum. Due to our schedule, we had to visit on the day the museum is closed to the public. So we parked and walked all around the grounds around the main building and down to his studio. Lots of outdoor sculptures to look at as we walked around.

9//25 - Part of our NE bus tour, this stop was full of nostalgia as I remember many of his paintings. The down stairs displayed all hi post covers & had an interesting movie about his life . Upstairs features many of his original paintings. The tour of his studio was included in our tour, not necessary unless your a big fan. If your from near or far, it's worth a visit.

They don't give any real information about Norman's life in Arlington VT. He had 2 homes in VT. One he accidentally burnt down. The second, Rockwell's Retreat, is right down the road. It has been lovingly restored including his studio which, with the help and love of Arlington people who knew Norman and were his models, gave the new owners so much insight that it is truly like walking into the studio and expecting to see Norman. Don't stop just at the museum in Stockbridge, go up 7A highway to Rockwell's Retreat in Arlington VT. If you love Norman's work, then you can't leave out the years of his life in Arlington.

Monument Mountain Reservation is a picturesque park offering various outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, hunting, picnicking, and birding. The reserve features the 1,642-foot Monument Mountain with stunning panoramic views. The trails are well-maintained and offer unique natural features like ferns, moss, waterfalls, and boulders. Visitors should be cautious of road traffic when accessing the park from Briarcliff Motel.
Got here early and hiked for the sunrise. Went the right way up and it was quite challenging but I was glad that we did it in the order that we did, hitting the summit first for the sunrise and then looking at the face from the side afterwards. The blue trail on the way down was definitely longer and part of it is right next to the road so it was better to leave for the end.
Thomas D — Google review
My best friend and I went to Monument Mountain because we decided to start our fitness journey by taking a hike. Literally. When we arrived, we found that you have to pay six dollars for parking. Which while annoying is not unheard of. Unfortunately, even though I paid six dollars, it wouldn’t print out an actual ticket so I paid six dollars for nothing lol. As far as the hike goes, we followed the blue Mohican monument trail and then transitioned over into the yellow hickory Trail. It was 2 1/2 miles total and I’m not gonna lie. There was a lot more uphill than my unathletic self was prepared for. There was a lot of uphill, a lot of huffing and puffing, so many regrets lol. And the last bit of the trail is downhill and had a weird angle and my body didn’t quite know how to adjust itself into an upright position. But I will say that trail had some of the most beautiful sites and views just of the forest alone. We came across a cool waterfall and so many areas where it just made you feel like you were either in a magical forest or on an adventure to seek out fairies or dragons. Some of the rock formations were amazing, including one area that had a giant rock with ferns on it that looked like it was floating. The photos I took could not do it justice. The colors didn’t come out the way your eyes see them, and the views just could not be matched with the camera. I thought I was dying. But it was totally worth it. I’ll probably go on a less strenuous hike for my next one until I work back up to it though lol.
Toni R — Google review
Great hike up the steep yellow trail but completely doable. All trails makes it sound scary...it's fine...even for youngsters. Views were gorgeous from different peaks on the top. Took the blue trail back which is longer, easier and very pretty in spots...like a narrow carriage road.
Carole C — Google review
Our family hike was a little more intense than we expected. We took the yellow trial up and the blue trail down. Before entering, we saw that there was a waterfall/gorge. Although it wasn't the kind of waterfall we were hoping to see, it was pretty! The paths were beautiful and the view was gorgeous! I would just say to anyone hiking with little ones, and those who might be a little more physically challenged....this was not an easy hike. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law had to turn around and waited for us back at the entrance. I'm glad they did, because it only got more steep and the rock climbing would have been too intense for them. They did see a friendly bear on the way back, which was exciting. Unfortunately, our group didn't see the bear. Overall, for those of us who finished our hike, we enjoyed it and we are glad we kept going! We are by no means experienced hikers. So, for those who like to hike mountains, I'm sure this would be a breeze. For those who are like us, I just hope you're mentally prepared and are not expecting easy trails through the woods. Definitely a little more intense than that, but worth the hike! 🙂
Alisha M — Google review
Hiked here today. It's listed in AllTrails as Hickey and Peeskawso Peak Loop. Great loop trail with a lot of beautiful rock stairs to get to the top. Lots of unique and pretty natural features like delicate ferns, moss, small waterfalls and gigantic boulders. Beautiful pictures at the summit. Parking lot was full by the time we left at 12:50 on a Saturday. Took us an hour and 20 minutes to complete. $6 to park. Worth it to hike at least one time. It had rained and there were lots of leaves. It would be slippery with wet or dry leaves so make sure you have good grip on your shoes or be careful coming down. I saw 2 dogs on the trail. Even though you pay to park, be aware there are no bathrooms or trash cans. Weird. Overall a good hike and worth the price.
Justine V — Google review
Excellent short hike for nice views. Be aware if you're bringing a dog-there are steep, rocky inclines up to the peak. If you have a dog who does not fear injury or worse (like mine) exercise caution with them at the top.
Kat C — Google review
Great place to go hiking. It took us about 2hrs hike the complete mountain. We did have to take brakes. It is a moderate hike take your time and be careful and you won't have a problem. The view at the top is amazing. You can see two state from there and take lots of pictures. It feel like your standing on top of the mountain literary lol.

A fantastic place to bring young kids. The Trevor Zoo has a really nice variety of animals, including those who are on the endangered species list. The zoo is small compared to many of the larger zoo's which makes it really great for young children. The staff is always friendly and the exhibits are well maintained. I live relatively close by and try to visit regularly as it is a great place to see and learn about animals that you will not get to see in the wild in the Hudson Valley area.

This whole concept of a high school with a zoo is truly brilliant . Nothing like hands on learning for students . I loved my time here which was several hours . Julia in the gift shop was incredibly helpful & personable. The gift shop has so many unique items and packs a big punch in a small space . The prices are reasonable and I was able to secure several items for gifts . It’s also nice that some drinks & snacks are available to purchase there . There is accessible parking right outside the gift shop and a ramp to enter the building to buy tickets & have a look inside the store . The rest of the zoo is also accessible for wheelchairs walkers & strollers . As a side note I was also thrilled to find some soaps made by an entrepreneur who is deaf . I added lots of photos/video so be sure to check those out so you can get more of a feel of the place . I think you’ll find that the animals are all very well taken care of here . It was awesome to see the students out on the grounds feeding them . I’ve told me so many people about this place so it’s safe to say I highly recommend a visit . Thank you Trevor-Lovejoy for a very memorable experience . Hope to come back again soon ❤️

Went to the Bernie Williams and Friends Jazz concert at Millbrook Winery and it was fantastic. Lots of great people and music. The warm up band was the Dutchess County Community College jazz ensemble. They were great!!!!! Then came Bernie Williams and Friends band. With a mixture of original songs, classics and newer songs had people on their feet and dancing. The tasting of Bernie's new wines was great. The only complaint was the small number of food trucks. But the ones there had really good food. Will definitely be back next year for this event.

We came for a wine tasting experience and had the best time. The wines are very good, and the place is just so beautiful, we went upstairs to the loft to enjoy some more wines, got ourselves some cheese and crackers from the bar, and had a wonderful time admiring the view of the vineyards and the Hudson valley. They even have EV chargers in the back! We’ll definitely be back!

We came to just hang out as we don’t drink. It is free to enter and they have different types of food trucks on the weekends serving food from lunch to dinner. There were many people who brought their own chairs and picnic blankets hanging out on the grass area by the pond. We set up a blanket right in front of the pond and chilled. There was only one bbq food truck on the weekend we visited. It would have been a better experience if the family next to us wasn’t so loud. But overall we had a relaxing time. They have free wifi, which was nice! They also have electric car chargers stations.

After the tasting we went up to the taproom and continued to enjoy the wine with the added charcuterie board and Hummus plate. While there one of our cellphones got miss placed. We looked high and low for it. Jen at the front desk took name, number and description of the phone. We received a call that it had been found. We returned the next day just before opening and Ron went inside to retrieve it for us. Ron checked in a few times with us during our stay. All the staff made us feel at home. We plan on returning next month for another visit with a few more people.

Such a beautiful winery! Came here during a bachelorette weekend and it completely brightened the vibe of the trip. They had live jazz playing which made it feel extra special, and we tried a wine flight with four different wines (the Tocai was definitely my fave!). The views were absolutely stunning too. Would 100% come back again!

Millbrook Vineyards & Winery is a true hidden gem in Upstate New York. From the scenic drive in to the peaceful, rolling vineyards, everything about this place feels like a perfect escape. The wine is excellent—standouts like the Tocai Friulano and Pinot Noir really show off what the Hudson Valley has to offer. The tasting experience is relaxed and enjoyable, with knowledgeable staff who make everyone feel welcome, whether you’re a wine enthusiast or just curious. It’s also a fantastic spot to spend a full day with family and friends. You can bring a picnic, grab a bottle or two, and hang out on the terrace or in the grassy open spaces overlooking the vines. The setting is peaceful, the views are stunning, and the vibe is just right for both relaxing and celebrating. One of the best vineyard experiences in the region—can’t wait to return!

Loved the place is so beautiful. We did the RESERVE TASTING for $30 per person and it was a great experience. We also had pizza from the food truck and pretty good.

Innisfree Garden

Botanical garden
Nature & Parks
Gardens
Based on Chinese & Japanese design principles, the garden features paths, waterfalls & a large lake.
A Serene Escape Innisfree Garden is a hidden gem, a tranquil oasis. This former estate, once owned by the wealthy Russell family, has been graciously transformed into a public garden that celebrates nature's beauty. The garden's design, inspired by Chinese landscape principles, creates a harmonious blend of natural and man-made elements. Winding paths lead you through lush greenery, past serene ponds adorned with water lilies and lotus flowers, and under towering trees. The strategically placed rocks and boulders add a touch of artistry to the landscape, inviting contemplation and quiet reflection. The diverse flora and fauna are a delight to behold. Keep an eye out for a variety of bird species that call this garden. The garden is well-maintained, with plenty of seating areas to relax and soak in the peaceful atmosphere. Pack your picnic basket and enjoy the lake view as you enjoy your sandwiches. A small fee of $10 per person grants you access to this natural wonderland. Innisfree Garden is a must-visit for anyone seeking a serene escape from the city. It's a place where you can connect with nature, appreciate beauty, and simply unwind.

We recently discovered Innisfree Garden in Millbrook, NY, and we couldn't be more delighted. Even the long dirt driveway to the parking area is enchanting.  There is a simple booth at the entrance way, and the two women there were very sweet and helpful, pointing out which paths to take on their large handout map. The garden is on 185-acres of designed and natural landscapes around the serene Tyrrel Lake. Established between 1930 and 1960 as the private garden of Walter and Marion Beck, it was inspired by scroll paintings of the 8th-century Chinese poet and painter Wang Wei. This is a beautiful spot to visit. There are gravel paths, stone walks, hidden stairways, little ponds, and waterfalls. You can bring a packed lunch and enjoy the view at picnic tables on a low hill. I know this is an overused phrase, but Innisfree Garden is truly a hidden gem.

Wow, certainly not your typical botanical garden. What a great space, the Asian inspired settings made me feel as if I had time-traveled to Japan and China w/the artful arrangement of plants and rocks. Thoughtfully arranged “vignettes” w/no beginning and no end just flow from one scene to another. A peaceful space for quiet reflection. You could easily spend many hours here. Chairs are provided at many vantage points to maximize views. A wonderful place for meditation. Highly recommend.
Judi S — Google review
A jewel in the area! We made a deliberate drive to visit based on the recommendations of others and were not disappointed. Grounds and trails are very well kept and traffic was very light for us. A picnic area is available, keeping the rest of the area very clean and neat. Plenty of amazing photo opportunities and areas for quiet reflection, meditation, and appreciation. Several areas have chairs for seating, in and out of the shade of mature trees. Water features are expertly designed and installed. Cell service is very limited, but that’s probably a good thing, to not distract you from a wonderful piece of paradise.
David D — Google review
This garden is stunning. It's not your typical rose gardens and meticulously manicured flower beds, instead opting for a more natural look influenced by Chinese gardening principles. The pond/bog is covered in lily pads and lotuses, which attract so many incredible birds. There are all sorts of trees, vines, mosses, and flowers across the garden with strategically placed stones and boulders acting as 'sculptures'. There are lots of beautiful flowers throughout and plenty of opportunities to get a nice photo. There are a ton of birds here, so if you have binoculars, bring them! There are chairs and benches all over the garden, so you're never far from a place to sit down and rest while you enjoy the view. While the garden is not wheelchair accessible, it is fairly accessible for people with limited mobility as it is mostly flat and only has a few areas with tricky terrain. The entrance fee is $10 per person and you get a large map with the history of the garden on the back. They take cash and card. There is a good amount of parking. If I could spend all day here, I would. This place is stunning and a truly unique and remarkable garden.

Really spectacular park/garden with many discrete sub-gardens. Walk around the lake. The only issue is that the bridge is under repair so you will have to double back.

It was very nice. Kind of like hiking but not. Beautiful gardens and little pathways.

A beautiful place with plenty of seats all throughout to just sit and enjoy nature if long hikes are not your thing. Plenty of trails throughout if hikes are your thing. The water lilies are lovely.

Stormville Airport Antique Show and Flea Market

Antique store

Flea market
Flea & Street Markets
Pretty interesting experience I had. This was my very first antique show market I had ever attended. I had been to a smaller antique store in the past in Maine but this one was different. It was so nice. They had session for antiques, they also had sessions for modern clothing’s and hoodies and winter caps since this is the session, they had different food vendors and bathrooms, and of course apple cider (hot and cold which I love) plus the famous cinnamons donuts with lots of sugar which I donot like since I don’t like cinnamon LOL. Freshly made Popcorns, sandwiches, burgers etc, African clothes, hair, mention them. You gotta go when you can. Thank me later.
Zion F — Google review
The Flea Market is a good time for shoppers. I like that they offer free parking and free admission. I also think that they do a great job by having separate sections for new and antique vendors. I have noticed that many senior, religious, and civic groups bring in bus groups. The food is good and consistent with other outdoor events. The one negative is the lack of adequate numbers of portable bathrooms on the very busy days. FOR THE 2 DAY SHOWS LOOK FOR THE CLOCKMAN UNDER THE BRIGHT ORANGE TENT. IN SPOT 291 MOST OF THE TIME. Mention this review when you stop by. You will not be disappointed. Overall, two thumbs up 👍🏽 👍🏽

Great place to visit. Bouncy houses for the kids. Variety of food trucks for all. I had the fried oreos & kettle corn, both were great. Many vendors with an assortment of items.

🌤️ Sunday strolls and vintage treasures… Today’s adventure led me to the Stormville Flea Market—a charming maze of nostalgia, creativity, and community spirit nestled in the Hudson Valley. From antique cameras and hand-carved furniture to quirky signs and homemade jams, every booth told a story. I wandered with curiosity, chatted with passionate vendors, and even found a few gems that sparked inspiration for future shoots and stories. There’s something magical about places like this—where the past meets the present, and every item has a soul. If you ever find yourself craving a little time travel (and maybe a fresh lemonade or two), this market is a must

There's a pop-up Flea Market and Antique sale here several times a year. It's fun! I went with family. Bring a knapsack, cart or just a bag. But, you'll need to carry your purchase. There are port-o-potties and food. You can make a day of it! Get your steps in too!

Easy lots of vendors with tons of items for everyone. I love all the different cultures. All kinds of food vendors as well. Bring your walking shoes...

For the most part the place is great the venders are wonderful, as well as informative. There are THOUSANDS of shoppers here. They claime to have food trucks. That is true. Today, they had THREE food trucks for everyone!!! I just waited in line for street tacos for OVER thirty minutes. When I went to place my order and they were out of cheese. They could not make ANYTHING for my daughter, low blood sugar!! I drove six hours here and we expected food trucks when we got here!! Two genders I spoke with said that the trucks got into a disagreement with the owners and refused to come back!! Fix your website!!

If you're any kind of collector this the place for you. Tons of food available as well. I hear that it's even larger in the spring, so we're looking forward to another visit. Prices range from pennies to hundreds of dollars. There really was something for everyone.

Buddhist monastery set on 225 serene acres featuring a lake, pavilions & statues, open for tours.
Chuang Yen Monastery – I’ve been coming to Chuang Yen Monastery since childhood, and it’s always been a peaceful retreat. The stunning Giant Buddha is awe-inspiring, and the serene grounds are perfect for a quiet walk or meditation. The gardens are beautifully maintained, and there’s a calming energy here that makes it a wonderful spot for reflection. Please be respectful and read the signs, as there are many people who live here and prefer their privacy. When you explore, make sure it’s with respect and consideration. Chuang Yen Monastery is a special place that feels like a sanctuary. It’s been a part of my life for so long, and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone seeking peace and tranquility. 🕊️🌿🕊️🌿

We came here since year 2000 with our kids when they were young. We went yesterday since COVID, and I am disappointed. The buildings are about the same, still not very well maintained. The main Buddha building smells like mold inside. We especially disappointed at the lunch, the potato were not cooked completely, too much ketchup sauce so they taste sour, and the cabbage is also not cooked so they are too hard, the second dish we had were the cucumbers but tasted bitter. They need to do better for the food as many people are going to there to enjoy the complete package of the monastery experience.

Absolutely beautiful, peaceful monastery located deep in the backroads. The giant Buddha is amazing and worth the trip, but don’t skip out on walking the grounds.

How fortunate. Came here on a weekday and find that this week marks the 60th anniversary of The Buddhist Association of the United States. A lot of people from all over and staying overnight at the monastery to celebrate. If you want, you can be part of the celebration. Even if you're not inclined to participate, you can still walk around the grounds to relax and take in the scenery. It's so peaceful here.

Just about 1 hour drive away from Manhattan this place offers a very different vibe. An easy walk around the compound takes you through an avenue of traditional statues, the main temple with the famous larger than life Buddha, and a small picturesque pond. There are restrooms, a small gift shop and you can also share the devotees vegetarian lunch or witness some of their ceremonies. Please review the website to see additional important visit details, learning opportunities and visitor rules.

Central Park is a breathtaking green sanctuary nestled in the bustling heart of New York City, offering an escape from the urban hustle. Established in 1857, this iconic park spans over 800 acres, making it larger than London's Hyde Park. Visitors can meander along scenic walking paths and expansive lawns while discovering a plethora of attractions. From the enchanting Alice in Wonderland statue to Belvedere Castle perched on Vista Rock, every corner reveals something new.
If there was a perfect city park, this would be it. It just is an amazing park. You can go for a stroll in the woods, sun bath in a grass meadow, see great entertainment, much of it free, rent a row boad on the lake, people watch and so much more. When you are in the park, in some areas it might not even seem like you are still in the city. Anyone visiting NYC should take the time to walk through and explore the park. There is an amazing zoo, a carousel, ice skating rink, and even a castle in the park. The pictures are of the reservoir at the north end of the park.

Central Park in the Fall — Absolutely Magical! Visiting Central Park in autumn was better than I ever imagined. The colors, the crisp air, the skyline peeking through the trees — it felt straight out of a movie, only real. The park is wonderfully kid-friendly and dog-friendly, full of families, friendly faces, and space to explore. From the winding paths to the shimmering ponds and quiet lakes, every corner is breathtaking. The city views are stunning, and everyone we met was kind and welcoming. Truly one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I’ve ever experienced.

Central Park is more than just the heart of New York City — it’s the city’s soul. Spanning over 840 acres, this green oasis feels like a peaceful escape wrapped inside the chaos of Manhattan. The moment you step in, the city noise fades, replaced by the rustle of leaves, the laughter of joggers, and the sound of musicians under the bridges. Every corner of the park tells a story. From the romantic Bow Bridge arching gracefully over the lake to the grand Bethesda Terrace overlooking the fountain, it’s a photographer’s dream and a wanderer’s paradise. The pathways curve through gardens, open meadows, and quiet wooded areas — perfect for a morning run, a lazy picnic, or simply sitting on a bench and watching life pass by. What makes Central Park truly special is how it reflects the rhythm of New York itself. On one side, artists sketch and performers play violins; on the other, kids race their bikes while couples row across the lake. In winter, the Wollman Rink sparkles with skaters, and in spring, the cherry blossoms paint the park in pastel shades. Whether you’re a tourist seeing it for the first time or a local escaping your busy schedule, Central Park never feels the same twice. It’s timeless yet ever-changing — a living masterpiece right in the middle of skyscrapers. In a city that never sleeps, Central Park reminds you to breathe, slow down, and simply be. ⭐ Rating: 5/5 A must-visit — not just for its beauty, but for the peace and inspiration it offers.

Central Park is the most beautiful place in New York! Perfect for photoshoots, horse rides, and boating on the lake. It’s also one of the best romantic spots for a date. Everywhere you go, you can hear live music, which adds such a magical atmosphere. I love visiting in any season — spring with blooming trees and fall with falling leaves are my favorites. A truly unique place you can’t find anywhere else in the world!

After the watching the 'Stranger Things: The First Shadow' Broadway show at the Marquis Theatre on W46th St & 7th Ave, we walked the 0.7 miles up 7th Ave to the Central Park entrance at W59th St where I had my first NYC Hotdog from the Nathan's Hotdog stand. It was very tasty if a tad small for $6. We only walked in a very small section of the vast 843 acres, 2.5 miles long and 0.5 miles wide park, from the W59th St & 7Ave entrance to the Model Sailing Boat Lake and could have spent several days explore the different sections of this vast beautiful space, which is enjoyed daily by some many local New Yorkers and tourists. There were lots of people relaxing on the grass, walking, jogging, running, cycling & rollerblading through the park, together with rickshaws and horse drawn carriages carrying their passengers on the one directional circular road running around inside the park. We stopped off at the Le Pain Quotidien kiosk next to the Model Boating Lake for hot drinks & pastries at one of the tables, enjoying the late evening sunshine whilst watching people going by and children sailing their rented remote controlled model boats in the lake. There are public male & female toilets either side of the kiosk and a table service section for a selection of food & drinks. It wasn't too busy when we were there around 6pm on a Saturday evening and it was the perfect place to sit down, take a break, relax and watch the world go by in Central Park whilst enjoying a drink. We were fortunate to be there to listen to the famous Central Park guitar man, David Ippolito, playing some beautiful guitar music from across the boating lake opposite our table, in his regular Saturday slot. On our walk to the Model Boating Lake we passed the 1,800 seat open air Delacorte amphitheater inside the park, where free public shows of Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night' were being performed. My wife is a big fan of Shakespeare's plays and would have loved to have gone to see the play. However, as the vast majority of tickets were allocated via lottery to NYC residents we would have had to queue up in person in a standby line outside the theatre on the day, in the hope of getting one of these few ticket allocations and I didn't like Shakespeare enough to do that. As it was such beautiful warm late summer we decided to walk the 2.2 miles down Lexington Ave, from the park at 74th St down to our hotel at 36th St. Although it took a lot longer than taking the subway we really enjoyed seeing more of the city on foot.

I had never seen such a huge park in the city area. Spread across 800+ acres, this park has a lot of beautiful places to visit. We went to Bethesda terrace as our first spot here and it’s really worth visiting. Great spots to visit, sit, relax, run and click pictures. Loved the bow bridge. Must visit and highly recommended.

The American Museum of Natural History is a world-renowned museum filled with specimens from all over the natural world. It is one of the largest museums in the world, and it makes science come alive for visitors with its permanent exhibitions. The museum also has an excellent library and planetarium.
My visit was awesome! There was so much too see, I’ve been there for about 4 hours, including a show in the Hayden planetarium and it was barely enough to walk through every exhibit and read a few things. The 4th floor was my favorite by far, because it had the dinosaur bones, which was very interesting. The large Titanosauros was amazing. The other floors and exhibits were also very interesting, like the ones about early civilizations. The animal ones were also very nicely done. I also really liked the milky way show in the planetarium. Overall it was a very good experience and I can’t recommend it enough for the price, If you have enough time to see everything.

Amazing! I’ve been to several museums in this category all around the country & world & in my opinion this is the best…even better than DC’s Smithsonian. Unlike other NYC attractions it was less packed and more enjoyable. I love the balance between science & history. The scale and attention to detail is top notch. Many of the taxidermies & environments looked great. I won’t go into great detail, but rather will post photos & let you decide. Lastly, everything is well maintained. I recommend!

The American Museum of Natural History never disappoints. You could easily spend hours here — especially in the incredible animal exhibits, where lifelike dioramas make you feel like you’re standing in the middle of the wild. It’s one of those places that fascinates you no matter how many times you visit. This was our second time, and it was just as impressive as the first. Even though the weather outside was beautiful — and we briefly considered renting bikes in Central Park instead — we stuck to our plan and went to the museum. Weather-wise, probably not the best choice, but absolutely worth it. We added two special exhibitions to our visit (both extra cost): “Invisible Worlds” — a stunning, beautifully produced show about the hidden connections between all living things and how we share DNA with nearly everything on Earth. Highly recommended. The Milky Way Encounters — another highlight, with breathtaking visuals projected on the dome ceiling as you recline in your seat and journey through space. Aside from that, we explored much of the permanent collection — though there’s always more to see. I’d say we covered about 80% this time, which is progress from our first visit! A world-class museum, perfect for all ages. Whether you’re into nature, science, or just want to feel small in the best possible way — this place is a must.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The American Museum of Natural History is truly one of New York City’s greatest treasures. Every exhibit is fascinating — from the towering dinosaur fossils to the dazzling Hall of Gems and Minerals. The museum is beautifully curated, and you can easily spend an entire day exploring without seeing everything. The dioramas are stunningly detailed and bring the natural world to life, while the planetarium offers an awe-inspiring look at the universe. It’s a perfect place for both kids and adults — educational, fun, and full of wonder. Tip: Arrive early to avoid crowds, and plan ahead for exhibits like the Hayden Planetarium or the butterfly conservatory. Overall, this museum never disappoints and is a must-visit every time I’m in New York.

Excellent collection of dinosaur fossil collections, so many are complete. Nice to see it up and close to see the scale of the actual dinosaur bones. Conveniently located on the same block as the subway metro station of 81st Street station. Their are many collections of animals from around the world, not just American species. Hayden Planetarium was an incredible experience that one must try. The screen is semi circle in the ceiling to get a 3D effect feel. Sometimes, it feels like you are moving!!! Highly recommend to buying tickets before arriving to save time. Very highly recommended 👌 👍

Do the planetarium! It’s an incredible show, part science, part dreamscape, and a great place to rest your feet after a day of exploring. Neil deGrasse Tyson’s narration is stellar (pun intended). I almost fell asleep, in the best possible way. We had to speed-run this visit, and it actually worked out! We hit the dinosaurs and gems first, both absolutely worth it. The exhibits are thoughtfully laid out and easy to navigate since each floor follows a similar flow. There’s so much here that we definitely missed a few sections, but if you’re short on time, you can comfortably see the major highlights in about two hours before closing. This museum has a much more family-oriented vibe than the MET or MoMA, plenty of kids, groups, and wide-eyed first-timers. Keep an eye out for special events and group experiences; there’s always something fascinating going on.

Wow the wife and I came from Montana to see this gem. We love rocks. So many rocks of all kinds. But when asking to get to the hall of planet earth the employees dont know? Whaaaaaaat! Mamma mia!! We met four beautiful young girls looking at the African Mammal Rock for a group project! The animals are so real a lipstick just like the real thing. And the dino skeletons CANT BELIEVE THEM THINGS ARE REAL. So HUGE. All the kiddos there loved the dinos, many happy couples posing like dinos…can you feel the love tonight? In the hall of planet earf...It was very dark and warm like I was in a cave and it unlocked my primal earthly instincts to want to take a nap. Honk shoo. Honk shoo. Sleepy dAVE. Our favorite was the free fine minute planetarium show I really felt like I was in another galazy made me DIZZY. Love the milky glizy way galaxy. What do you know about the Cambrian explosion? The Alaskan earthquake was tragic. I learned a lot……Terrific. Great. Great for families kiddos and bored lonely singles.

Was on a work trip to NY but this was definitely my highlight to-go place, who doesn't like dinosaur! However I went close to closing hour, so there was very little crowd frankly which makes it very easy to navigate around and photos were mostly free of people! This is a huge museum which a great number of exhibitions you prob can spend more time here! Also nearby is central park which you can go for a stroll right after! Wonderful experience. When you get here especially on the weekends there is a long line but rest assured it goes very fast but I don't mind for security sake. There are discounts for new Yorkers and veterans seniors. As soon as you walk in you will be amazed with the elaborate staircase and walking in on the first floor welcome to ancient Egypt. Explore the continents Africa Europe Asia..... my wife and I enjoy it I like the old houses inside she likes the paintings. And a cafe on the first floor and a restaurant on top I believe 5th. It's a oasis in the middle of the big apple 🍎 ..

We had the morning free before flying home and wanted to visit somewhere new to us. You could actually spend the whole day in this magnificent museum. It's structurally beautiful as well as having displays that are truly impressive. The Egyptian items were outstanding, the burial items, jewellery and finds took our breath away. The wall paintings on the burial building were spectacular. Also the photograph of the wooden replica boats all broken and then repaired and on display were incredible. They all had a black bob hairstyle! The Greek section was fabulous as was the Asian. The African panels on the ceiling, totem poles, tribal costumes and carvings were beautifully painted and definitely a favourite of ours. The Japanese garden was quiet and a place of calm and very much represented the culture. We had a quick stop at the cafe, the queue went down fairly quickly and people were constantly moving so tables became available. This museum turned into a highlight of our trip and I have already told friends to put it on their to do list when visiting New York.

⭐️ Incredible World-Class Museum in the Heart of NYC. I visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art and bought my ticket at the entrance. It was busy with tourists, but once you step inside the galleries the museum is so huge that the crowds spread out quickly. The exhibits are absolutely incredible — Egyptian mummies, sarcophagi, medieval knights, full suits of armor, ancient weapons, paintings, sculptures, musical instruments, and so much more. The collection is massive and honestly mind-blowing. At some point we were so tired from walking that we had to stop, because this place is endless. It really feels like stepping into ancient Egypt, medieval Europe, and world history all inside Manhattan. There are clean restrooms, plenty of places to rest, and a nice gift shop on the way out. A must-visit NYC museum. Highly recommended! 📸🇺🇸

I haven’t been to the MET ever since coming back from the army. I used to go all the time, especially when they would have new exhibits in the museum. What made me go in the first place was because I’m writing an essay on art for my art history class. I wanted to share so of the photos that I took on my journey.

The Met in NYC is one of those rare places that somehow exceeds the hype. The moment you walk in, you feel the weight of history, culture, and artistry from every corner of the world. The collection is massive — truly something for everyone — but it never feels overwhelming. Every gallery is intentional, beautifully curated, and full of details that pull you in. What I appreciated most was how easy it was to get lost in time. One minute you’re in ancient Egypt, the next you’re staring at a Van Gogh that stops you in your tracks. The staff is friendly, the layout is intuitive, and the entire experience feels like stepping into a different world for a few hours. If you’re in NYC, this is a non-negotiable stop. It’s not just a museum — it’s an experience you carry with you long after you leave.
Marcio C — Google review
Carved out 3 hours and still barely got through maybe a half(if even that) of the museum. The staff there was great and the student discount of 17$ was pretty great, and I think it’s awesome that New York residents and local students only pay if they want to, that’s a cool perk. One thing is, at times it definitely felt like a maze getting through the galleries.

Broadway Theatre, also known as Broadway, is a renowned phenomenon in Midtown Manhattan's Theatre District. Dating back to 1924, it hosts large musical productions in its 1,761-seat space. The theater boasts flashing lights and booming performances and is part of the quintessential New York City experience.
This is quintessential Broadway. Incredible staging, costumes, acting, singing, dancing—everything is over the top amazing. The tap dancing is unbelievable. There are beautiful flapper dresses and a yellow Rolls Royce and Pierce Arrow cars on stage. The singing is terrific. Everyone in the cast has wonderful powerful voices. The fact that the storyline does not follow the book very well doesn’t really matter. It’s a great show with all the glitz and glamor Broadway has to offer. You don’t have to like theater to like this very entertaining musical.

Went for the great Gatsby show, it was spectacular. From the set design to the costumes to the acting. Absolutely beautiful. Was my first Broadway show and I highly recommend anyone visiting NYC to check these shows out. I'm still in awe of the set design and the choreography. 10/10 highly recommend.

While in New York, make sure to catch a Broadway show! Our group chose Wicked, and it was absolutely spectacular. I even got a collectible cup as a souvenir—a little keepsake from a night filled with music, magic, and pure fun.

Great Gatsby was fantastic!! Beautiful venue with beautiful arches that maximizes it to an amphitheater, chandeliers, clean large bathrooms, and chairs arranged in a way that allows everyone to see the stage without any struggle (regardless of how high you sit). Only downside is that the seats are tiny (made for tiny English men, I guess?) and can be a little uncomfortable, especially if you’re tall or a little wide.
Abigail F — Google review
This is such a beautiful theater, old style vintage decor with beautiful ceiling & chandeliers. We sat in orchestra third row on the left the view was great. The seating have leg room & they are very comfortable. Also, the sound in the theater is really good. You can buy souvenirs by the stand on the main level. There are bathrooms on the basement & there is multiple bars one in the main level & another in the basement. All the staff are helpful and friendly! We saw The Great Gastby which was a phenomenal show! I totally recommend it!

My wife and I went to see the 'The Great Gatsby' musical show at The Broadway Theatre during our visit to NYC as part of her 60th birthday celebrations in September 2025. We are big fans of stage shows & musicals and this was the first of five shows we saw during our trip. With an audience capacity of 1,763 across two levels it's one of the bigger Broadway theatre. It has a large front lobby with bars and toilets down in the basement, which also had a period model car for visitors to admire and take photo opportunities with. The Great Gatsby musical follows the same story line as the latest film version starring Leonardo Dicaprio & Carey Mulligan and our discounted tickets that we bought from the The Lincoln CenterTKTS ticket booths were for 2 fantastic seats in the orchestra stalls, looking right at the middle of the stage, 16 rows from the front. The staging was the best of any shows I've seen to date with huge sets, multiple quick changing scenery, combined with projected images. The stage was very large with enough space for multiple cars, presumably electric powered, fully laddened with 4 passengers to be driven onto the stage. Although there are no instantly recognisable songs in the musical there were plenty of songs for the very talented cast to sing, with many of the supporting cast getting to sing their own big numbers in addition to the main stars - they all had fantastic voices and so many of them hit some very big notes, which drew thunderous applause from the audience. The accompanying live orchestra were great and I really enjoyed the tap dancing routine by 2 male & 2 female dancers. It was a fabulous lavish musical that we throughly enjoyed, even more so as we got our fantastic center stage seats at a 50% discount for just $110 each.
Hong L — Google review
My kind of quintessential theater. We purchased tickets a couple months before our visit. We had seats in side orchestra which we were happy with but I am a 6'1 big guy and my sister has a leg prostestisus. And my wife who was looking after us both. About 10 minutes before the show, a theater attendant came to us and asked if we would like some better seats. Of course we said yes. Front & center orchestra. We were so grateful and overwhelmed and the show so amazing. Thank you Broadway theater staff & management. You made our small dream even better.
Charles C — Google review
3 out of 5 stars I saw The Great Gatsby at the Broadway Theatre today, having read the novel and seen the film adaptations. I was curious how the story would translate to the stage -- and while there were strong creative elements, the overall experience was mixed. Visually, the production is a standout. The set design, costumes, lighting, and transitions between scenes were all beautifully done and captured the energy of the Roaring Twenties. The music was lively and atmospheric, and most of the performances were solid. However, the focus of the story felt oddly distributed. For a show titled The Great Gatsby, Gatsby himself was surprisingly sidelined, making the emotional core of the story feel somewhat muted. The Broadway Theatre itself has a classic charm with an impressive central chandelier, but the logistics were disappointing. Entry was disorganized, ushers were hard to find, and the seating was extremely cramped. As an average-sized person, I found myself physically uncomfortable by the end -- numb feet, knees, and back made it hard to stay fully engaged. Overall, it's an entertaining and visually polished production that modernizes the classic story in crowd-pleasing ways, but it may leave fans of the original novel wishing for a bit more narrative depth -- and a lot more legroom.

Top of The Rock is an observatory located on top of Rockefeller Center, featuring an ocean-liner style design and providing stunning city views. Visitors can explore Rockefeller Center, known for hosting The Today Show, shopping opportunities, and dining options before taking the elevator to the Top of The Rock for a bird's-eye view of the city. Unlike the Empire State Building, this vantage point allows capturing photos with the iconic building in them.
One of the best views of Manhattan from a top of a building, better than Empire State Building or the Freedom Tower!!! Upon entry you will receive a video introduction to the making of The Rockefeller Center in a theater. You can see all of the downtown including Empire State Building, Central Park, Freedom Tower, etc etc etc. You can go up to 67th, 69th and 71st floor. The top floor does not have glasses so you can get a better quality photos. 96th floor has the Beam Experience for additional $25. 71st floor has the Skylift for additional $35 or it is part of the VIP Pass. It is best to make a reservatios! Be on tine!!!. Highly recommended.

Finally, on my 5th trip to NYC we did Rockafella Centre instead of Empire State. What a great experience. Great views of the NYC skyline which includes the Empire State. The Beam was so worth it as well. Great views out towards Central Park. Could have stayed up there for even more hours. Nice little cafe/bar with terrace area to sit and chill while admiring the views.

We visited Top of the Rock and were absolutely amazed! The view of New York is stunning — especially the Empire State Building and the Manhattan skyline. The entry was quick and well-organized with minimal waiting time. It’s a perfect spot to enjoy the city vibe, take incredible photos, and soak in the views. Definitely recommend it to anyone visiting New York for the first time!

Top of the Rock was fantastic — much quieter than the Empire State Building, which made the experience way more enjoyable. The views to the north are incredible, especially over Central Park. You also get a perfect view of the Empire State Building, which you obviously can’t get if you’re standing on it! Highly recommend going around sunset for the best light.

Even in drizzling rain this was an enjoyable experience. We actually really like the foggy photos we got too! One of the cheaper birds eye view options with two different tourist photo opportunities. Though I usually find those to be cheesy, if it wasn't raining during our trip I could see their unique recreation of the iconic construction photo snapped during the building of the rockafeller center could be super cute/fun and very New York specific, and I may have considered it in better weather.

Loved Top of the Rock! The views are incredible even though you’re not the tallest building in the city. Took almost no time to enter even though it was pretty busy being right around dusk. The night views are the best. Definitely do this on your trip to NYC.

This iconic destination, built between 1930 and 1940, attracts tourists year-round. During the holiday season, it becomes especially popular with its famous Christmas tree and seasonal ice rink drawing thousands of visitors. The Art Deco architecture and art within the complex make it a noteworthy attraction even outside of the holiday season.
It was a childhood dream to visit here. And this place didn't disappoint; it's beautiful, just like in the movies. The building's lobby is captivating with its massive murals. The courtyard with fountains and benches is very cozy. It's even more beautiful here with the festive winter decorations.

Such a great experience going to the observation deck at the Empire State Bldg. I really enjoyed all of the different inviting displays they used to tell the history of building the Rockefeller Center. Made it really fun and interactive. We learned a lot about all of the movies made there. But then the views¡ Amazing! The sun set while ẁe were there and I loved seeing the city at night. It would be on my top 10 things to do in NYC. I highly recommend you make it part of your NYC visit.

This was an amazing experience. It was my first time ever in New York and I wanted to see something from a skyscraper. The tallest building in Ireland is around 15 storeys high so being on the 70th floor at the observation deck was a huge thrill. We signed up tot he Rockefeller centre email newsletter and had 10% off so we used the discount and for two people it worked out at $108 which was about €93 which was good value for what it was. There was no time limit and the experience was great. We would certainly do this again and it is worth it.

I went up there around 11 PM and it was the best decision. There’s no line and there’s not so many people at the top. You can take as many pictures of the stunning view as you want without worrying about the crowd. As far as I was told you can stay as long as you want to (up until 12AM). The view is 10/10. I’ve also been on top of the Ende but I think being on top of the rock is an experience in itself. Seeing the skating rink was also beautiful. Would recommend

Become part of one of New York City’s most cherished traditions by skating beneath the world-famous Rockerfeller centre Christmas tree. If skating is not your thing but you like to watch instead, why not rent one of the Apres Skate Chalets for a 40-minute reservation. They are private and heated and offer cozy seating for up to 6 people. There is also a food and beverage service available.

Although I didn't get a chance to see the Christmas tree (currently being installed) or the Prometheus sculpture (under restoration) during my trip, the place remains magical. An iconic location, full of film references. Everything was spotless, the ice rink was beautiful, there were plenty of staff, and security was excellent. Fabulous.

Times Square is unforgettable! On my trip to New York, I spent time here and it truly felt like the heartbeat of the city. The lights, energy, and atmosphere are simply unmatched, with people from all over the world filling the streets. When I was there at night, the giant billboards and dazzling colors came alive. I saw street performers, live music, cartoon characters posing for pictures, and tourists capturing photos everywhere. The whole vibe was electric, and I honestly felt like I was standing in the middle of a movie scene. Also, I scanned the mobile barcode and uploaded my picture on the billboard and about 10 minutes later, I saw myself up there. That was such a unique and unforgettable moment! 👉 Tips for visitors: • Best time to visit is after dark when the lights shine brightest. • Wear comfortable shoes you’ll walk a lot. • Keep your phone or camera ready, every corner is a photo opportunity. • It gets crowded, so stay mindful of your belongings. Standing amidst the towering LED screens and the constant buzz of activity felt surreal. Street performers, musicians, and costumed characters add to the excitement, making every corner of Times Square lively and entertaining. Whether it’s day or night, the energy here never fades. I also enjoyed browsing the many flagship stores, souvenir shops, and cafés. Going for a walk early in the morning feels refreshing and leisurely. The display boards might be more visible if it were a bit darker… but I still prefer the time when daylight is just beginning to break. Even in the early morning, there are a variety of food options like hot dogs and corn dogs.

We finally visited the iconic Times Square and whatever I had heard before about this is not an exaggeration. The vibe, atmosphere and the electronic billboards make this place a very happening one. Lots of shops and eateries near this place. A great crowd every time you visit. But at night after sunset this place becomes more awesome. Must visit and multiple visits are my recommendation.

Times Square on Halloween night 2025 was an electrifying spectacle of life, light, and energy. Even having visited before, I have never felt the city pulse so vibrantly — the crowds, the colors, the laughter, and the chaos all weaving together into a living tapestry that is uniquely New York. Every street, every screen, every flicker of neon seemed to tell a story, inviting you to pause, to watch, and to feel part of something larger than yourself. There’s a rhythm here, a heartbeat of the city that never sleeps, and on this night, it was louder, wilder, and more exhilarating than ever. Walking through the throngs, catching glimpses of costumes and celebration, and capturing these moments in photos and video made me appreciate the magic of New York in a way words can barely capture. Times Square is not just a place — it’s an experience, a living, breathing canvas of human energy and creativity. Halloween night 2025 will forever remain vivid in my memory as one of the city’s most unforgettable moments.

This is nyc the busiest city in the USA. I love and hate this area at the same time but mostly I love it because the shows are nearby and you can get reduced prices if you wait online and so many food, places and historical places and even the US armed horses recruiting services center and you should definitely walk this area and not drive because you will be stuck in traffic During the day. Enjoy!

Times Square is always an incredible place to be. There’s an energy there that you really can’t find anywhere else. From the street art and performers to the endless flow of people from all over the world, it feels alive every hour of the day. Visiting during the day and coming back at night gives you two completely different experiences. Daytime is vibrant and busy, while nighttime transforms the whole area with bright lights, massive screens, and a unique atmosphere you have to see for yourself. It’s definitely a must-visit spot every time I’m in the city.

Grand Central Terminal, also known as Grand Central Station, is a historic train station in New York City. Completed in 1913, it boasts a grand facade and a magnificent main concourse adorned with Tennessee-marble floors and Italian-marble ticket counters. The vaulted ceiling of the main concourse features a stunning mural of constellations designed by French painter Paul Cesar Helleu. Despite being primarily a commuter and traveler hub, it is also one of the world's top tourist attractions.
Grand Central Terminal is absolutely breathtaking! From the stunning architecture and the celestial ceiling in the main concourse to the constant energy and movement, it's a true New York City landmark. Whether you're catching a train, grabbing a bite, or just exploring, there's something magical about this place. The mix of history, elegance, and hustle makes it feel like you're in the heart of the city. A must-visit spot, even if you're not traveling!
Ankit B — Google review
Grand Central Terminal is the third busiest train station in North America, behind New York’s Pennsylvania Station and Toronto’s Union Station. The unique architecture and interior design of the Grand Central Station have been designated several landmarks, including a National Historic Landmark. The Beaux-Arts style design is reflected in numerous works of art. In the center of the concourse is the information booth, which features a brass clock on all four sides, one of Grand Central’s most recognizable symbols. As old as the station is, it is a place of enormous construction cost and engineering excellence. Grand Central is one of the busiest train stations in the world, with approximately 750,000 visitors per day. A must-see on any Grand Central tour is the $20 million opaline clock above the information booth. Grand Central Terminal is one of the top 10 most visited tourist attractions in the world, and the main concourse of the terminal is often used as a meeting place, especially in movies and on TV. Grand Central Terminal was designed and built with two main levels for passengers: the upper level for intercity trains and the lower level for commuter trains. Grant Central Terminal was originally named after the New York Central Railroad, which operated from 1900 to 1910. The current new terminal was built from 2007 to 2023. The constellations are embroidered on the ceiling of the constellations, and sometimes you can see cute scenes of children lying on the floor and looking at the constellations embroidered on the ceiling. The doors leading into the terminal from 42nd Street show traces of its long history. Note: Beaux-Arts architecture was an academic architectural style taught at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris from the 1830s to the late 19th century. It was based on the principles of French neoclassicism, incorporating elements of the Renaissance and Baroque styles, and using modern materials such as iron, glass, and later steel. It was an important style and had a huge influence on institutions and public buildings, especially in Europe and the United States, from the late 19th century to the 20th century.

Grand Central Terminal is far more than just a train station – it’s a true New York landmark and a must-see for any visitor to the city. As one of the busiest transport hubs in the world, the constant movement of people adds a sense of energy and urgency that’s uniquely New York. Despite the crowds, the atmosphere is captivating and full of character. What really makes Grand Central stand out is its breathtaking architecture. From the celestial ceiling of the Main Concourse to the grand arched windows and marble staircases, every detail is a testament to American ambition and craftsmanship. It’s a space that reflects the era when the United States was building not just infrastructure, but a global legacy of power and progress. Walking through Grand Central gives you a real sense of history and purpose – it’s both a functional space and a symbol of what America once set out to achieve. A perfect blend of beauty, scale, and purpose. Definitely worth visiting, even if you’re not catching a train.

As a tourist visiting New York City, Grand Central Station was my favorite building. You could see and feel the history of the building. The best part about being inside the station is thinking about how important it was to building the city and how it currently helps facilitate so much of the business in the city. Also, it is amazing to think about the important people from history who have set foot in the same location! Highly recommend as a stop touring the city!

This has been the station I’ve used for years as my main connection between home and the city. Even though it’s a hub for both locals and tourists, from my perspective as a local, I still find it beautiful—especially from an architectural point of view. It’s full of history, and every time I arrive here, I feel like I’m stepping into a place that matters—somewhere meaningful. There’s always so much going on: people arriving, leaving, tourists, commuters… and I love that. It captures the magic of New York’s diversity. Trains run frequently, and you can easily catch the line that suits your destination. Ticket prices vary, but I recommend downloading the MTA app to check schedules and buy tickets online. You can also get them at the booths—it’s a bit old-school, but it has its charm (I used to do that a lot back when I was in school). What I love most is the art deco style—it reflects the elegance that made early 20th-century New York so iconic. The restrooms are usually clean, there are quick bites available if you’re in a hurry, and the self-service machines are convenient. Overall, it’s an efficient, accessible terminal—and I truly love it.

An Icon of Timeless New York: Grand Central Terminal Grand Central Terminal is a cultural, historical, and architectural masterpiece in addition to being a transportation hub. This famous landmark, which is in the center of Manhattan, has captivated tourists for more than a century with its exquisite Beaux-Arts architecture, minute details, and lively ambiance. The Main Concourse, with its celestial ceiling mural that depicts a starry night sky, greets you as soon as you enter. The terminal is flooded with natural light from the enormous arched windows, and the lavish chandeliers lend a touch of refinement. A timeless gathering place and must-see is the renowned four-faced clock in the middle of the concourse. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, Grand Central is a thriving transportation center that effectively serves commuters with buses, subway lines, and Metro-North trains. The terminal is a pleasure to explore because it retains its grandeur and nostalgic feel despite the continuous movement. One of the highlights is the Whispering Gallery, which is close to the Oyster Bar and features an intriguing acoustic trick that lets visitors hear whispers coming from the other side of the arch. In addition, the terminal has a number of upscale stores, bakeries, and eateries, such as the well-known Grand Central Oyster Bar, which has been serving fresh seafood since 1913. Grand Central Terminal never lets you down, whether you're interested in architecture, history, or just want to feel a little bit of New York's charm. It offers a gateway to the city as well as a destination in and of itself, skillfully fusing elegance and functionality. A trip to New York wouldn't be complete without experiencing the enchantment of this iconic site. Strongly advised!

Visiting the Empire State Building was truly unforgettable. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I could feel the history and grandeur of this iconic landmark. The Art Deco design is stunning, and the elevator ride to the top builds so much excitement. The view from the 86th floor is absolutely breathtaking — you can see the entire Manhattan skyline, Central Park, and even the Statue of Liberty in the distance. I went just before sunset, and watching the city lights come alive was magical. Everything was well-organized, the staff were friendly, and the experience felt smooth from start to finish. It’s not just a tourist spot — it’s a symbol of New York itself. A must-see for anyone visiting the city!

We kinda spur of the moment decided to do this, while in NY. So didn't buy tickets in advance, although it wasn't difficult to do so there, as they had computer ordering systems on site to use, we would have been able to see and realize that there is a price difference amongst the different "time slots" and that entry times are set every 15-30mins apart. There is thorough security to get in, and lots of staff around as well. The place was clean, and spacious. The history on your way through was very interesting. The view from the top was really good, we paid extra to go to the 101 floor. And although it wasn't a huge difference from the view of the 85th floor, I'm glad we did it. Defiently recommend visiting the observation deck of the empire state building atleast once. We went up during daylight hours, so I may, someday come back for a night view.

Go see it, you won't regret the time you spend exploring this iconic building. We're from NZ, so this was a bucket list visit and I loved everything about the museum walkthrough, old footage and experiential stuff. Views are phenomenal, breath taking even on a good day like we had. We just looked and looked at the vast expanse of this city and didn't want to leave. So much NY history in the one place, it's worth the entry fee for sure. If you are remotely interested in the Empire State Building you'll love it.

From the 86th floor, the city lights stretch in every direction—Times Square glows, traffic forms ribbons of color, and the skyline looks its best after dark. Crowds are lighter at night, so it’s easier to enjoy the view and take photos without rushing. Overall, the nighttime atmosphere feels calm and memorable. If you want a classic view of Manhattan with less daytime noise, this visit is worth it.

I chose the ESB over the Rock and other viewing platforms for it's historical significance. Built in 1931, in one year and 45 days, featured in many famous movies and recognized around the world. It even has it's own zip code! My first time in NYC so definitely had to go all the way up to the 102nd floor which is completely enclosed so good for cold weather! But you have great views from the 86th floor also which is open air and enclosed. Reservations are required and earlier is less busy.

I found the 86th floor to be pretty adequate for photos.I didn't see a point to go all the way to the top, To be honest. The views are pretty spectacular. You get to take photos from both the eightieth floor and then open air eighty sixth floor. There's lots of museum and stuff to look through before you get up to the elevators, you can either look at it or skip it.It's up to you. Then, at the end, of course, there's a gift shop. I would highly recommend this. I would probably recommend it over some of the other tall buildings because of the history surrounding this one. And it's pretty centrally located, so you can see everything from the eighty sixth floor.

I must say, this is the most magical place on earth, if you go to New York, this is a must. The prices of the tickets are affordable and the experience makes you feel like you’re on top of the world. We went in the evening and seeing the lights of New York was magical. It bought the city to life. The staff were really friendly and the museum part was interesting as it taught you about the Empire State building. Will definitely come back and visit.

One of the great things about traveling to any city is obviously the people that you meet. In my brief visits to New York, though, I've found it difficult to meet and to engage with local folks. On Nov. 12, 2025, I woke up in the morning thinking about how cool it would be to make one great human connection that day. I whispered to the Universe that I’d like that kind of encounter – a chance to get to know the real New York. It turned out that I had been looking for such a connection in the wrong place because I wasn't looking up. That's when my wife (Won-ok) and I decided to tour the Empire State Building. That was one of the things that was on my life bucket list, something that is a quintessentially American experience. When we made it to one of the lookout areas, a very kind woman named Renita greeted us with such warmth that it was overwhelming. Some people just radiate goodness and kindness, and spending time with Renita was the only time that trip that we felt the sun. My aunt happens to have the same name so the name struck a particular chord with me. Renita asked if there is anything that we would like to know. I was a little embarrassed by how little I know about the city. Renita Immediately helped me overcome my sheepishness and began answering questions from me and Won-ok. It didn't take long for one thing to lead to another and for the three of us to find ourselves in a deep, soulful conversation. Renita told us she has been working at the building for many decades. A native New Yorker, she saw the World Trade Center go up – and she witnessed the horror of the towers going down. I learned more about the history and spirit of New York in the moments I spent with her than I did on the entire rest of my trips there combined. Renita is a credit to the Empire State Building and to the city of New York. My wife and I saw a lot of amazing things on that trip but the experience that made the greatest impact on us was Renita -- New York’s ambassador in the sky.

Sights & Landmarks
The High Line is a renowned elevated park built on an old railway line, offering stunning views of the city and the river. This 1.45-mile-long linear park in Manhattan was transformed from an abandoned railway viaduct into a popular public space in 2009. Designed by Dutch landscape architect Piet Oudolf, the park features a continuous walkway surrounded by gardens with diverse plant species that thrived on the disused rail line.
This is such a cool walking path/pedestrian route for anyone wanting to walk near the Hudson Yard area to Pier 57/Chelsea Market. Lots of green spaces and natural plantings with the old railroad lines, and places with stairs and elevators to go down to street level. Nice way to see some cool buildings and avoid traffic and stoplights. You can enter near the Vessel in Hudson Yard area, or end there if you start above the Chelsea Market.

A wonderful use of old elevated train tracks turned into beautiful greenery in the middle of the city. So many different kinds of vegetation and lots of great art to see along the way. We walked about 2 miles of it from The Edge down to Chelsea Market.

The High Line is one of the most unique and enjoyable outdoor experiences in New York City. Built on an elevated historic rail line, it offers a peaceful walkway above the busy streets, with great views of the city and plenty of greenery along the way. It’s a perfect place for a stroll, whether you’re looking to take photos, enjoy the art installations, or just relax in a quieter space. The mix of plants, architecture, and open views of the Hudson River makes it feel both urban and calming at the same time. Depending on how fast you walk, you can explore the whole thing in about 30–60 minutes, making it a great stop that doesn’t take up your whole day. It can get crowded during peak hours, but it’s still a lovely experience overall. A must-visit if you’re in the city and want something scenic, relaxing, and completely free. Please leave a like if you found this helpful!

Lovely for an autumn walk and lots of great photo opportunities. Clean bathrooms. Lots of city views. Surrounded by buildings with unique architecture. Lots of benches and viewing areas, including one where you can watch traffic. Landscaping and sculptures.

This walk is so nice, it's hard to believe it's free (privately funded, donations accepted). We stopped for several minutes to listen to a mockingbird perform his concert! Super clean bathrooms, and there are no pets allowed, so with all the plants, it smells nice too. Not too crowded on weekdays.

The Experience: This is a fantastic spot for a nice walking experience above the city streets. It offers a unique perspective of Manhattan and serves as a great path to get to Hudson Yards, offering a perfect, looming view of The Edge as you approach. Accessibility Note: Be mindful of where you enter. I found the stairs to be very steep at the access point I used. If you have heavy bags or mobility issues, you definitely want to double-check the map for elevator access beforehand, as the stairs can be a workout. Verdict: Despite the climb up, I thoroughly enjoyed the walk. It’s a refreshing break from the traffic below.

A unique and beautiful walkway throughout New York City. From Hudson yards to Little Island, an extraordinary yet calm walkway above the streets. And offer a serene and calm experience. Would highly recommend.
Sven B — Google review
This might be the best urban park that I've ever visited! What a great way to meander through the Chelsea neighbourhood with some elevated views of New York City. I imagine it can get extremely busy on a nice day, but its certainly work checking out if you're in the area. Lots of little pockets of space if you want some privacy from all the folks out for a walk.

9/11 Memorial & Museum

Historical place museum
Sights & Landmarks
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum is a poignant and emotional site in New York City, honoring the victims of the 1993 and 2001 World Trade Center terrorist attacks. Located at the National September 11 Memorial, this museum features artifacts such as debris from the Twin Towers, personal belongings of those lost, fire trucks deformed by heat, and remnants of sidewalks and street signs.
A Deeply Moving and Unforgettable Experience Visiting the 9/11 Memorial & Museum was one of the most powerful experiences I’ve ever had. The site is both heartbreaking and inspiring — a place that honors the lives lost while reminding us of the strength and unity that followed such tragedy. The twin reflecting pools are breathtaking in their simplicity, with the names of the victims beautifully engraved around the edges. Standing there, hearing the water and seeing the skyline, gave me a deep sense of reflection and respect. Inside the museum, the exhibits are incredibly well curated. Artifacts, photos, and personal stories bring the events of that day to life in a very human way. It’s emotional and sometimes difficult to walk through, but also very meaningful. The staff were respectful and helpful, and the entire atmosphere encourages quiet remembrance. I left with a heavy heart but also with renewed appreciation for resilience, compassion, and peace. Tip: Give yourself at least 2–3 hours to experience everything. It’s not just a tourist attraction — it’s a memorial that deserves time and reflection.

This exhibit was amazing! Getting to see history. I was in the 6th grade when this event took place and just seeing it now from a different perspective as an adult just hits different. I'll share some photos that I have taken but it is 100% worth the visit. It just opens up so many more questions about where we are now against where we may have been. It also questions perspectives on mindsets these days but I will not get into that here. This place was awesome and I would definitely love to go back during another visit to NY.

Visiting the 9/11 Memorial is an experience that stays with you long after you leave. I first came to New York in 2000, just a year before the tragic events that would forever change the skyline. Back then, the Twin Towers stood tall and proud, dominating the horizon. I remember looking up at them in awe, thinking about how massive and permanent they seemed — like nothing could ever topple them. At the time, I could never have imagined that I would one day return to the same spot and find that the buildings were gone. When I came back years later to visit the memorial, the feeling was surreal. The area where the towers once stood is now a place of quiet reflection, marked by the enormous, cascading pools set within the footprints of the original buildings. Water flows continuously, creating a soft, mournful sound, while the names of the victims are engraved around the edges. Standing there, it’s impossible not to feel the weight of history, loss, and resilience. The emptiness where the towers once reached toward the sky is both haunting and profoundly moving. Walking around the memorial, I was struck by the contrast between what I remembered and what I saw now. The city has moved forward, new buildings rise around the site, and life in Manhattan continues its relentless pace. Yet the memorial holds a stillness that makes time feel suspended. Every detail — from the endless water, to the engraved names, to the subtle landscaping — is designed to honor what was lost while reminding visitors of the strength and perseverance of those who survived, and the courage of those who came after. Being there, I couldn’t help but reflect on the impermanence of even the most monumental structures. The towers seemed unshakable in my memory, but tragedy and time proved otherwise. The memorial doesn’t try to replace them; it doesn’t try to replicate what was lost. Instead, it invites visitors to pause, remember, and honor. It’s both humbling and healing, a space where grief and respect coexist in a quiet, powerful way. Visiting the 9/11 Memorial is an emotional journey. You leave with a deeper understanding of loss, resilience, and the fragility of even the mightiest human creations. Coming back to a place I once knew so differently, seeing the towers replaced by pools of reflection, reminded me that memory and history are alive — and that remembrance is as important as rebuilding.

Wow wow wow. Months behind on leaving this review, but wanted to be sure to encourage others to visit. This was such a well thought out memorial and museum. Very thorough and respectful to those who perished. It is very moving. To be in the space, looking at the foundation, the energy was palpable. This was agreed way to honor those souls and those who lost their lives saving others. Incredible.

One of the very best museums I've ever been to. Very comprehensive displays tastefully done. Recommend ordering tickets ahead of time for early morning to beat the crowds. Some time slots sell out. The audio device is also highly recommended.
John Z — Google review
Buy tickets in advance. Allow more time than the recommended 60-90 mins, especially if you are old enough to remember where you were when you heard the news or saw it unfold. Highly moving exhibits bring the victims front and center of your visit, making the experience all the more personal and emotional. Be prepared. However, it is an experience I highly recommend. Those who forget history are bound to repeat it, and this is an event we should never forget.

The 9/11 Memorial is a deeply moving and powerful place that honors the lives lost and the resilience of those who carried on. Standing beside the reflecting pools where the Twin Towers once stood is an emotional experience that words can hardly capture. The design is both beautiful and solemn, with every name carefully inscribed as a reminder of the human impact of that day. The sound of the water and the calm atmosphere create a space for reflection and remembrance. It’s a must-visit for anyone who wants to truly understand the strength and unity that emerged from tragedy.

This museum was the main thing I wanted to do when I visited New York for the first time. Buying my ticket and getting into the museum was easy and organized. The exhibits were well done and organized in a timeline that was easy to follow. There were plenty of staff members to direct people and answer questions as well as a self guided audio tour that was available for purchase. This was a moving experience and I would recommend this to anyone who is able to visit.

Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty, a symbol of freedom and democracy, is an iconic national monument in New York City. Standing at 151 feet tall, it was a gift from France to the United States in 1886. Visitors can take guided tours and explore the museum on Liberty Island for stunning harbor and city views. Ferries run regularly from Battery Park and Liberty State Park for easy access.
We booked our visit through Statue City Cruises, the official and only authorized provider for trips to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island — and that’s important to know, as plenty of unofficial sellers will try to offer you “alternative” tickets. We had seen the Statue of Liberty from the water before — on a speedboat called The Beast back in 2018 — but this was our first time setting foot on Liberty Island. And what a difference that makes. The island is larger than we expected, with plenty of space to walk around, grab a snack, and take photos from every angle. We picked up the included audio guide, which offers three different tours, but ended up just exploring on our own. The view toward Manhattan is spectacular, and the statue itself is iconic — impressive both up close and from afar. We tried to get tickets for the crown, but those were sold out nearly two months in advance, so book early if that’s on your list. The museum visit at the end was fascinating, offering great context and artifacts. No wonder over four million people visit every year. A beautiful and memorable experience — absolutely worth the time and effort.

The Statue of Liberty is one of the most iconic symbols of freedom, and visiting it feels special from start to finish. The ferry ride itself offers breathtaking views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Liberty Island is peaceful, clean, and full of great photo spots. The Statue looks massive and impressive from up close, and the museum gives deep insight into its construction, symbolism, and restoration. If you book the pedestal or crown tickets early, the views are even better. Expect lines during peak hours, but the organization is smooth. Overall, it’s a must-visit landmark for anyone coming to New York.

An Amazing Visit to the Statue of Liberty! My visit to the Statue of Liberty was amazing. What a spectacular statue! Today was clear and sunny, which made it a perfect day for pictures and videos. I totally recommend that people come to visit and see this magnificent art. My Recommendations for Your Trip: Book in Advance: Purchase your tickets online before you go. Trust me, the line to buy tickets on-site is insane. Check the Weather: Choose your day wisely and make sure it is sunny. The views are so much better! Charge Your Devices: Make sure your phone and professional camera are fully charged before you leave. You don't want to miss a shot!

We booked to view this historic and iconic landmark via statue city cruises. We had a very smooth experience starting from the queue management, security checking, cruise to the liberty island and back. Very well managed and staffs were there to guide us. The experience is great. This monument stands tall and it reminds us about all the history related to it. Beautiful in short. When you visit NYC, this is the must visit place. Iconic and beautiful.

Our trip to Liberty State Park was fantastic from start to finish. We bought tickets from the NJ side. Parking was easy. Buying tickets on mobile was super smooth, and going through security was a breeze. We went during the week and experienced absolutely no wait time—both on the way there and coming back. The ferry itself was clean and comfortable. The first and second floors are fully heated, which was perfect, and the top deck offers amazing views. Overall, a seamless and enjoyable experience. Highly recommend! Below a Picture of the actual NJ ferry

We really enjoyed our visit to the Statue of Liberty! The entire area was very clean and well maintained, and the museum was full of fascinating information - a great mix of history and insight. The walk around the island was lovely, offering amazing views of downtown Manhattan, New Jersey, the Brooklyn Bridge, and Ellis Island. It’s truly a special perspective of New York. The cafeteria food was decent, with better prices than expected, and the souvenir shop had something for every taste and budget. Overall, a memorable experience that’s absolutely worth it for anyone visiting NYC.

I visited the Statue of Liberty with my mom and sister, and it was such a beautiful and memorable experience. Seeing it up close was honestly breathtaking the statue is much larger than I expected, and the views from the pedestal were beautiful . We took the ferry from Battery Park, which was really easy and gave us great views of both Liberty Island and Ellis Island along the way. Hiking up as far as we could inside the statue was such a cool experience you really get to appreciate the scale and craftsmanship of this incredible monument. A few fun facts: the Statue of Liberty was a gift from France in 1886 to celebrate freedom and democracy. She’s made of copper, which has oxidized over time to create her iconic green color, and her full height from base to torch is about 305 feet! The seven rays on her crown represent the seven continents and seven seas, symbolizing liberty spreading across the world. If you’re visiting New York, this is an absolute must-do. It’s historic, inspiring, and truly beautiful an experience that makes you appreciate what the Statue of Liberty stands for. 🗽✨ *UNESCO heritage site*

Amazing tour to one of the most iconic landmarks in New York! We took the ferry from Battery Park all the way to the Statue. Trip is nice and short, full of beautiful views. I highly recommend the tour that includes the access to the crown. It's a 198 steps very narrow way to the top but it's worth it.
