Bear Mountain State Park

Nature & Parks
Bear Mountain State Park, located just over the Bear Mountain Bridge from Westchester, is a lush and mountainous park offering a variety of activities for visitors. Families can enjoy the old-fashioned carousel, zoo, playground, swimming pool, and open spaces for kids to run around. Adults will appreciate the convenient picnic tables and grills.
We recently hiked up to the top of Bear Mountain, and it was such an incredible experience! The trail led us to a summit at 1,289 feet, where we were rewarded with stunning 360° views of the Hudson River, the city skyline, and the beautiful Hudson Highlands—definitely worth the climb! We brought our dog along, and he probably enjoyed it even more than we did! 🐶 The entire park is super dog-friendly, and we saw quite a few other happy pups along the way. It was great to see how welcoming the trails were for furry companions. We also walked part of the Appalachian Trail, which offered some beautiful scenery throughout the hike. Later, we explored one of the shorter one-mile loops around the lake, and the view there was just as amazing—peaceful and picturesque. Whether you’re up for a full hike or just want a relaxing nature walk, Bear Mountain has something for everyone. Highly recommend it for a fun and refreshing day outdoors!

Bear Mountain State Park is such a beautiful place to visit. The views are stunning, especially from the top, and the trails are well kept with options for both easy walks and more challenging hikes. It’s very peaceful and a great spot to relax, take photos, or have a picnic. There’s plenty of space for families, and the scenery by the lake makes it extra special. A perfect getaway from the city!
Eli V — Google review
My trip to Bear Mountain was a refreshing escape into nature. The park offers the perfect mix of outdoor activities, scenic views, and peaceful spots to just relax. The trails are well-marked and range from easy walks along the river to more challenging hikes with rewarding panoramic views at the summit. The highlight for me was the overlook from Perkins Memorial Tower—you can see the Hudson River winding through the valley, and on a clear day, even catch a glimpse of the Manhattan skyline in the distance. It’s breathtaking. The park also has a lovely lake where you can rent boats, a small zoo featuring local wildlife, and plenty of picnic areas that make it family-friendly. In the fall, the foliage is stunning, and in the winter, there’s even an ice-skating rink. Parking can get crowded on weekends, so it’s best to arrive early. Also, be sure to bring water and snacks if you plan on hiking the longer trails. Overall, Bear Mountain is a great spot for nature lovers, hikers, and anyone looking for a quick getaway from city life. I’d definitely recommend it for a day trip or even a weekend outing.
Divyesh P — Google review
I love the park. The hiking is fantastic. The paths are great. The views are spectacular. I give it a 4 because the zoo is not necessary, and it’s a bit dated. I’d like to see a nice country store there with food and beverage options. The current concessions are a bit dated and unsatisfactory. I recommend bringing your own food and beverages.
D M — Google review
Had an amazing time at Bear Mountain State Park! The hike was a perfect mix of challenge and reward, with stunning views of the Hudson River once we reached the top. The park is well-maintained, and the atmosphere is peaceful and refreshing—great for a quick escape from city life. We enjoyed the scenic drive, the cool breeze by the lake, and even spotted a few deer along the trail. Whether you’re into hiking, relaxing by the water, or just soaking in nature, this place has something for everyone. Don’t miss out the swimming pool for 5$. Highly recommend visiting, especially during fall or early summer!
Revanth C — Google review
Parking Fee: $10.00 Well maintained trails, okay for active/well-trained dogs, and good for outdoor picnics/bbq/hot pot. We used the AllTrails app to track our progress and it took about 3.5 hours to complete the hike. The views from the highest points were beautiful. Visiting during fall has its perks as the weather is cool, the autumn foliage is in full swing, and there aren’t as many insects to watch for. *** Please beware of ticks! There were three that latched onto the corgi.
Erin L — Google review
Beautiful nature. Get there early for better access and enjoy picnic with your family and friends, park have rules like every other park in NY, long hikes and unforgettable views. This is an amazing place. Parking lot for only 10.00.

Would come back again. Went for the first time and really enjoyed it! There’s a lot of steps going up the mountain but nice scenic views!

Dia Beacon

Mentioned on
20 lists
Art museum
Shopping
Dia Beacon is a massive contemporary art museum located in a former Nabisco box printing factory, offering an awe-inspiring collection of modern works from the 1960s to the present day. The museum overlooks the Hudson River and features a large permanent collection by renowned artists such as Richard Serra, Louise Bourgeois, Dan Flavin, and Gerhard Richter. In addition to its permanent collection, Dia Beacon regularly hosts temporary exhibits and large-scale sculptures.
Walking into Dia Beacon feels like entering a cathedral of perception. The former Nabisco box-printing factory, bathed in diffused Hudson Valley light, holds an atmosphere where time slows down — each artwork not merely installed, but breathing within the architecture. The vast industrial volume redefines the relationship between viewer, material, and void. In one wing, Gerhard Richter’s grey mirrors dissolve the boundary between reflection and opacity. Their stillness absorbs the daylight, folding the gallery’s gridded windows into painterly illusions. Nearby, Larry Bell’s glass constructions and Robert Irwin’s scrims create corridors of uncertainty, where the viewer becomes both subject and shadow. Walking through them is like inhaling air made visible — each surface a study in the gradations of transparency, color, and self-awareness. Descending further, the visceral pull of Richard Serra’s torqued ellipses commands bodily engagement. Their curved steel walls — monumental yet tender — demand slowness. Each turn offers a recalibration of weight, balance, and sound; your footsteps become part of the sculpture’s resonance. A parallel intensity exists in Michael Heizer’s voids, massive cuts into the floor that feel like the earth exhaling inside a room. Looking down is both thrilling and unsettling, a reminder of the geological scale that art can inhabit. Elsewhere, Joseph Beuys’s vitrines, Bruce Nauman’s neon, and John Chamberlain’s crushed metal offer counterpoints — gestures of humor, ritual, and defiance. In another hall, On Kawara’s textual works anchor time as language, while Lawrence Weiner’s wall texts and On Kawara’s banners (seen overhead) reframe the act of reading as a spatial rhythm. Dia Beacon’s curatorial strength lies in restraint. It allows artworks to exist in long, unhurried conversations with each other — a rare luxury in today’s overstimulated museum culture. The light changes, the shadows migrate, and so does one’s sense of the self within the work. Leaving the museum, one carries a strange calm — as if the act of seeing had been purified into its essence: space, light, and the quiet endurance of form.
Kenneth W — Google review
Excellent collection of some big names in contemporary modern sculpture. The space alone is stunning, prime for highlighting Negative Space, and it really is mostly negative space larger pieces, which makes it easy to cover such a large building -former Nabisco factory-. My all time favorite are the Richard Serra pieces: fabulous.
Carlos L — Google review
I found the building itself to be more fascinating than the art. Definitely go when it is sunny out. It's a former Nabisco printing plant. The art was very experimental; a few pieces were cool but most of it was silly and I love modern art. If you are in the area, it's still worth a stop. I wish I could roller skate thru the building. It's that big!
K L — Google review
The gallery itself has a lot to offer, but the staff definitely needs more training. There’s no need to warn visitors not to touch the exhibits before they’ve even approached them. It comes off as unwelcoming. Also, we were rushed out repeatedly with two minutes left before closing, even though we only had two exhibits left to see. If the gallery is still open, staff should continue doing their jobs, not push visitors out prematurely.
Yuxi Y — Google review
Cool museum with lot sod varying exhibits - some of them are very interesting, others less so. Overall, definitely worth visiting if you’re in beacon and want to get some art in.
Rovik R — Google review
Nice gallery! One of the best experiences is to reach Beacon by train, from Manhattan. You have to buy the round-trip tickets at the station and kids under 12 pay very little. Returning to the gallery topic it is a must-visit for all art lovers.
Ethel P — Google review
There are many other places where you can see the works of genius artists from around the world, but this is probably the only place where artists are able to hold “solo exhibitions” without being cramped after their death. A wonderful environment.
Kubota N — Google review
Very esoteric museum. One must savor the intentions and imagination of the artist. What color is the color of the day? What color is the color of the number? Where imagination, empathy, creativity and the basic principles of interior designers are expressed in a complex... interesting place!!

Sights & Landmarks
Embark on the Pride of the Hudson, an 85-foot boat that offers a scenic tour through the stunning Hudson Highlands. This sightseeing cruise showcases the natural beauty of the area and includes a visit to Bannerman Island, where you can explore the historic ruins of Bannerman Castle. With narrated tours and various seating options including partial shade on top deck, front seating, and inside cabin with A/C, this adventure is perfect for history enthusiasts and photographers alike.
We had such a wonderful experience aboard the Pride of the Hudson! From start to finish, every staff member we encountered was warm, welcoming, and incredibly friendly, which made the entire experience feel so inviting and enjoyable. The views along the Hudson River were absolutely unmatched, breathtaking scenery everywhere you looked. The boat was clean, comfortable, and spacious, with plenty of room to take in the sights from both the indoor seating and the open-air deck. It was a smooth and relaxing ride, and the narration offered fascinating bits of local history without being overwhelming. Whether you’re a local or visiting the Hudson Valley, this cruise is a must-do. Highly recommend!

I'm the president of a newly formed senior group called the Sandyston Legends. For our first group trip we choose The Pride of the Hudson river cruise. We were not disappointed. Besides the weather being perfect the cruise was so relaxing and informative. Everybody in our group had a great time. The staff was great. And a special thank you to Lynn for the arrangements. We will definitely be back and we'll spread the word to other groups in our area

What a fantastic 2 hour tour on the Hudson. We wanted something fun for our wedding guests to do that were in town the day before the big event. This was the perfect activity. The crew were exceptional and even sectioned off an area for our party to have privately, which made it great for dropping off our bags and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Also, they make a killer espresso coffee with a kick on board. Forget the mimosa and get the coffee drink. Thank you for an incredibly fun time!!!!!
Stacy H — Google review
This was a nice simple boat trip up the Hudson River, turn around by West Point and come back down. It’s a nice simple couple hours. There is a cash snack concession. The seating was spacious both upstairs and downstairs. The crew was attentive, and the captain was informative. The narration was automated and loud enough for even handicap people to hear. This trip allows you to see many historical houses and West Point. We definitely would do this again.

We went on the pride of Hudson as part of a two week vacation To the Rockland County area. This was a fantastic way to see all the places on the eastern west side of the Hudson that we have driven past for many years. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and you could tell they love their job. Love supporting local businesses like this

Yesterday was our 2nd time on the Pride of the Hudson. Our 1st time was in August 2021. It is a really nice 2hr cruise on the beautiful Hudson River. You get to see all of the historic sights & go down to West Point & back up again. The ship is always full so go early if you want a seat but we usually wind up standing to take pics & be out of the sun when my son needs to & so then we sit downstairs for a lil bit at a table, have some drinks(you can bring your own just not alcohol) & watch the views there while listening to the narrator. They sell snacks, hot dogs & every kind of liquor & beers. It is really a great time & we will probably go back again in a year or 2 again!

Took my sister for her birthday. Ride was the perfect duration and staff was awesome. We got the lunch add-on and the sandwiches were great. Loved the yummy coconut sorbet! Had such a blast💗
Tabitha S — Google review
We chartered the Pride of the Hudson boat for our 45th Wedding Anniversary in October, and everyone had an absolutely splendid time! The captain and crew could not have been more welcoming and helpful to the large (90+) group on board, and went out of their way to make sure everyone was doing well. As you might have guessed, some of the folks in attendance were not as young as they used to be, but with the ramps on the dock and to the ship, along with able assistance from the staff, we all got on and off board safely. The weather cooperated and we had spectacular views of the fall foliage throughout the trip. I heartily recommend this company for anyone looking to have a wonderful time cruising on the Hudson!

Storm King Art Center

Art center
Museums
Storm King Art Center is a sprawling 500-acre sculpture park that is open seasonally to the public. Visitors can enjoy tram tours, bike rentals and a cafe while taking in the beauty of the grounds and sculptures. It's recommended to wear comfortable shoes as there are inclines and walks through woods like a casual hike. Bundle up on cooler days as it gets chilly fast once the sun sets, but make sure not to leave before seeing all of the art on display.
As someone who is both an art and nature lover, visiting the Storm King Art Center was an unforgettable experience. Exploring the grounds as well as the special indoor art exhibition were truly a magical experiences. The park was incredibly easy to navigate, peaceful, and full of so many different artworks that are absolutely delightful to experience. There is something here for every art lover. There are also little carts available for people to ride on throughout the park in order to get to different parts of the area quickly and efficiently, which is great. I personally walked the entire time and would recommend wearing comfy, weather appropriate shoes and clothing, as well as bringing a water bottle and a snack (they permit picnics in the park as far as I know) The bathrooms were accessible and widely available and there were tons of areas and benches to sit at. I don’t regret visiting at all and will definitely be returning.
Daisy K — Google review
I had a fabulous time at Storm King Art Center. Upon entering, one of the funniest realizations I had about the energy of the space was actually while using the entrance bathroom. You're washing your hands in outdoor sinks, overlooking the foliage and trees. It was in that instant I knew I was going to enjoy my visit. You could say that the art of Storm King is within the contents of its very own landscape as sculptures and nature collide. I intentionally chose to visit during autumn when the tress started to change colors in the leaves, having been told that the change in color affects the interpretation and experience of the sculpture. It's true! I can imagine that visiting at different times throughout the year yields unique experiences. I had so much fun walking along the path; you can also rent a bike or take a tram while you're there as well if you decide. It was nice to see the park accessible to everyone, showing consideration for the visitors who were there. I also really enjoyed basking in the colossal sculptures, but was most excited to see one of Noguchi's work near the museum. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this open air museum at least once. It's a unique experience, and as a NYC native, I appreciated being able to see large works in that capacity. I've seen many galleries and museums, but this was just something special.
Jasmine — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking place — part outdoor museum, part nature escape. The massive sculptures scattered across open fields, hills, and trees make you feel like you’re walking through a dream landscape. Every turn gives you a new perspective — some pieces look completely different depending on where you stand. I went on a clear autumn day, and the colors of the trees mixed with the giant metal and stone sculptures were just stunning. It’s quiet, peaceful, and incredibly inspiring. You do need to walk a lot (or rent bikes or use the tram), so wear comfy shoes and bring water. The park is huge — easily a half-day or full-day visit if you want to see everything. Tickets are a bit pricey, but totally worth it for the experience. Perfect for art lovers, photographers, or anyone who just wants to be surrounded by beauty and space. Tip: Go early in the day, bring a hat and water, and take your time — it’s not about rushing, it’s about letting the art and landscape unfold around you.
Ada K — Google review
Amazing location! Gorgeous in the fall with the changing leaves and mountains. Lots of walking including hills and gravel paths. It took me almost four hours of nonstop walking to see everything. Definitely take the map offered with you. The scultures were hit or miss. Some winners and some "meh." I like Grounds for Sculpture outside Newark, NJ much better. Definitely worth a stop on a beautiful day and you want to get your steps in. They do offer trams throughout the park but you will miss half the sculptures if you stick to the trams. They offer bike rentals but you have to walk them on the gravel paths which are about half of the network. There are picnic tables in one area of the park and a small cafe.
K L — Google review
I spent 6 hours here and I barely got to look through everything. This place is very cool, even without the art, the nature and the picturesque views already makes this a top tier park to bring your kids to. The art adds a striking contrast that just looks really cool. Getting around the park is pretty easy. It's a huge park, but you don't need to walk it. There is a tram that comes around and brings you to all the different locations around the park. The tram is on time pretty much down to the minute. You can also ride around on a rented bike. I personally don't recommend this. It's really expensive and you can use up a lot of time if you want to stop and look at the art. Not to mention some of the paths where bikes aren't allowed and you need to walk your bike several hundred meters. Overall, this is an amazing place. I came here twice and it still blows my mind.
Erik Z — Google review
Lovely grounds to spend a few hours. Recommend during foliage! $25 entry per person. Can picnic on the grounds on the grass or at the picnic tables. The Maya Lin installment can be accessed inside each month from 15th to end of the month. Very special place to visit in Hudson Valley! Lots of parking on site available.
Maria Y — Google review
I went there for a field trip when I was a child and decided to bring my teen who’s interested in art. She loved it. She didn’t love all the walking. This is great if you want to spend the day hiking up steep hills. But, also good because if you choose not to walk they offer free trams to locations throughout the property. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes that you don’t mind getting muddy or dirty if you decide to walk to each installation. We had so much fun! Now for a well deserved nap. 😂
Pocahontas — Google review
One of the best sculpture parks in the Northeast! The grounds are very large so be prepared to walk if you want to go on your own. I recommend taking the shuttle around the park first to get your bearings and see what you might want to look at closer, they run around the park about every 1/2 hour. The area around the gift shop/gallery is one of the area you should see. Many sculptures and spectacular views! First Friday of the month is usually a free admission day, It's worth the trip!

Woodbury Common Premium Outlets is a shopper's paradise, boasting an impressive open-air complex filled with around 250 stores that cater to every taste and budget. From high-end designer labels like Gucci and Prada to popular everyday brands such as Nike and Levi's, this outlet offers a diverse selection of merchandise. The discounts are truly remarkable, making it an ideal destination for bargain hunters seeking quality items at reduced prices.
This outlet has all the shops you can imagine — and the discounts are amazing! 🛍️ We visited during National Outlet Weekend, which I highly recommend if you're planning a trip. There were extra sales on top of outlet prices, so we found some fantastic deals! Despite being a busy weekend, it didn’t feel overcrowded because the outlet is massive and well-organized. Great shopping experience overall — worth the visit!

Woodbury Common Premium Outlets is a shopping paradise for anyone who loves top brands at great prices. The variety of stores is incredible—luxury designers, sportswear, home goods, and everything in between. The discounts are genuine, and with a little patience, you can find some amazing deals. The outlet itself is beautifully designed with an open-air village-style layout, making it enjoyable to stroll around. There are plenty of dining options and rest areas, which make long shopping days much more comfortable. Parking is extensive, though it can get busy on weekends and holidays, so it’s best to come early. It’s worth setting aside a full day here because there’s so much to explore. For visitors from New York City, the shuttle buses are very convenient. Overall, an excellent destination for serious shoppers.
Zulqarnain S — Google review
If you’re in New York and you’re into shopping, this is the place to be. A return ticket is $45 via a bus and gets you access to most of the clothing and apparel big name brands. Their foodcourt is also spacious and serves great food. I’d recommend taking the 8:30am departure from NY and 3pm back from Woodbury to avoid traffic. Trip each ways is just over an hour.

I was here for the annual Brest Cancer Awareness Day and this is one of the coolest malls I’ve seen. They have many of my favorite stores/brands. I definitely enjoyed shopping around after the Brest Cancer Walk. If you’re into luxury brands, you should definitely check it out!

The outdoor setting made it feel more like a relaxing day trip than a shopping spree, with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the sunshine. The food options were also a nice surprise, with a good mix of quick bites and sit-down spots. Overall, it was a perfect shopping experience, made even better by the gorgeous weather. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun day of deals and sunshine!

Smashing place! You need to come here with your won trolley else you might end up buying one. You need patience to look through at the Nike or Lululemon store. The Coach and Michael Kors are all pretty neatly managed. I was in awe of some of the offers on display. The Brooks Brothers store was another lovely place. Clear with their offers as always.
Goks N — Google review
I had an amazing experience shopping at Woodbury outlet stores. The collection is amazing and the discounts are unbelievable. It’s one of a kind experience and one must shop from these outlets. Luxury brands like Gucci, Ferragamo, Valentino, Burberry, have many options to choose from! I am coming again to shop my heart out.
Diksha B — Google review
First timer ! It’s a couple of hours drive for us and visited this as many of my friends suggested this place. The parking is a bit tight and I had to pay about $12 to get a premium parking … lots and lots of good shops and showroom here, but it is pricey. The best part about this outlet is the food court even within the food court. The food is pretty expensive.. I have been to Jackson premium outlets and Jersey Garden malls and this Woodbury outlet is the most expensive out of all three .. Adidas Nike showrooms were good, but not much of discounts. Lots of other shops like Kipling , polo Ralph Lauren etc .. the stuff is good but again , it looks like they UP’d the price and then give us discounts ! Overall an average premium outlet mall. 3 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️

6.5-ac. stone-sculpture park in an abandoned quarry with trails & a museum featuring vintage tools.
Opus 40 is a magical place. Give yourself plenty of time to really absorb it and definitely get the tour. John grew up there and knew the artist and is a wealth of information on the history of the place and of the arts culture in Woodstock. He also knows a ton about the geology. Much to learn.

What an amazing place. I came here as a kid and just went back. 40 years later it’s just as impressive and beautiful. Friendly staff too. I wished we brought a picnic!

What a Grand magical place. Very fortunate to be able to visit and explore art. To imagine one’s obsession to creat this. $16 for adults and $6 for kids under 6 years old. Portapotties are available and gift shop. Parking available on the premises with a short walk for admissions.

Was passing through the Hudson Valley after a roadtrip to see family in Maine. I was fortunate to time the visit with the fall foliage in full swing. The site sits about 5 miles off 87 and is well paved and marked. The parking was abundant and a short walk to the admissions booth. Spectacular views of the monumental landscape architecture highlighted by the fall foliage. Well worth a visit!

All I can say is, “Wow”!!! You have to go there to really have an appreciation of this amazing masterpiece. Pictures don’t do it justice. I can’t believe one man built all of this without machinery - just talent and tools. I’m so grateful to his wife for sharing it with the world. It would have been a tragedy for us to not have been able to witness it. You must go see it.

Fascinating place to tour on a sunny day. Check out the video about the artist who created Opus 40. Combine it with lunch in Saugerties and a visit to Krause’s chocolate store and you have created a banner day!

Visited this place for the first time back in 2023. Spent a few hours wandering the property discovering nooks and crannies and was thoroughly enthralled from the first minute. The dedication, time, effort it must have taken is unbelievable. What an amazing place and journey of how Opus 40 came to be!

If you visit New Paltz, it's a very interesting place to visit and learn about the history and colonization of this part of the country. Its buildings, though few in number, are incredibly well-preserved despite the years, allowing us to appreciate the past.

Not quite sure what all the fuss is about. It’s about 6 houses which, ok they are old and lovely, but not that different to many others we have seen as we have poked about in the Hudson Valley. Nothing is open unless you take the tour.

We downloaded the app and did a self guided tour due to our time constraints, but I would have loved to take the guided tour. It was a quaint historic street with gobs of history perfect for a relaxing afternoon of sight seeing. If you’re on a schedule, and want the guided tour consider buying tickets in advance.

Nicely preserved buildings within easy walking distance. It was interesting to read about people who were enslaved there. Unfortunately, you need to download an app to listen information about the Huegonot settlers. There is little to no printed information about them.

Beautiful historic village. You can do a self guided tour or pay $15 for a guided tour. Cute little gift shop and visitor center.

Our tour guide Matthew was beyond exceptional! He was knowledgeable, engaging and enthusiastic throughout our tour, thoughtfully answering questions from kids and adults alike. A wonderful peak into this 300yr time time period.

Wonderful way to step back in time "on a birthday size " level. There was no organized tour when I stopped in the visitor center so the other houses weren't open but they were all nicely marked and easily walkable. They give you a great sense of the history of the Huguenots without being overwhelming. A good history lesson in about an hour to hour and a quarter. Thank you

About 6 houses that are closed unless you take the tour. I went inside the gift shop and upstairs; figured that all the houses looked similar. Coming here is a charming part of a day trip.

We went on the last day this year and it did not disappoint. it was a wonderful day weather-wise and the attendees were out in full force. It truly is a magical place as we wandered from area to area. I love the little things that you stumble up and the attention to detail such as the person just sitting in the middle of the woods (pictured). I would say it is a little expensive depending on what you are looking to get, but it is by far worth it especially if you enjoy medieval things, jousting, and giant turkey legs.

Pretty awesome place. Went on the last day, and it was packed, if your in costume, I recommend preparing for a hike across the parking lot. Once inside though it feels like you walked through q portal, from mead to blacksmiths, leather workers, glass blowing hairbraiding, and whip artists. They have it all. Walked around from 12 to 6 and still don't feel like I saw everything. Lots of cool vendors and lots of Amazon scamers, and definitely pay attention to what you're buying and from who. There were a bunch of small businesses that were worth supporting. I had an amazing day with my boyfriend and definitely plan on coming back. A day well spent 💖 may your voyage be just as magical♡ if your thinking about going do it !

I'm an avid ren faire goer, and the NY faire is great. The bus from NYC is very convenient. Lots of wonderful performers, the joust is super fun, and of course a million cool vendors. Lots of games too, and not too pricey, we did knife throwing and archery both for under ten bucks. The food is good. Everything is a little pricey but that's to be expected at this kind of thing. It's best to get there early - the shows get CRAZY full in the afternoon. We arrived at noon and watched the joust, did games, and watched performances all with little to no line, no struggle finding seating, etc. Later on as we passed back through those areas the lines were super long and the performances were packed, so we were glad we did those things earlier in the day. They have porta potties all over but TBH, theyre pretty disgusting. There is one regular restroom, and the line gets long but its kept clean and IMO its worth it to just go use that one lol.

A magical place that transports you to the Renaissance era! 🎭 People in costumes, free interesting shows all day, delicious food, and great souvenirs at fair prices. Perfect for families to enjoy a whole day. ✨ Tip: wear comfy shoes and, if you can, go in costume—it makes it even more fun! Check their website, they have different activities every weekend!!! ✌️

Unique experience in upstate New York. People dress up and enjoy a medieval town. Lots of vendors, fair food and actors around the grounds. Would recommend the pub crawl. We did a vlog on YouTube leave the resort of our experience here Cheers. PS parking is a little bit of a pain as it’s like one road going in. (Pro tip- stay in left lane - it enters into the fair grounds too)
SD — Google review
This was my first visit to a ren faire ever, and the NY fair seems like as good a place as any for a first timer. The location has a nice forest vibe despite being only an hour from NYC. The layout is easy to navigate, a mixture of paved paths, dirt trails and a few footbridge. Some of the performance areas are set into the treeline so there's some steep areas. It can be hard to get a seat down in front in flat areas for the popular shows. Hopefully there is an ADA program to assist when needed. There are some permanent bathrooms with plumbing both at the entrance and inside, and the rest of the grounds has portos in many convenient locations. So what does one do at the faire? Shopping, eating, taking in performances and demos. We especially enjoyed Tiny Girl Big Show and the whip talents of Aaron Bonk. I wasn't familiar with the Pass the Hat tip solicitations at the end of each performance, so if you are in a position to tip, bring some $5s $10s & $20s (yes they specifically ask for these amounts). The largest performances are jousting and human chess. The shopping areas were hit or miss for me. Some of the merchants have reasonable pricing or at least a range of price points to shop at. Others are extremely high end - our friends spent well over $1000 at one leather shop alone. Just mentioning this so it's not a surprise to anyone shopping with a smaller purse. I like to buy gifts at events like this and I shop in a price range of $10-40 per item. In this range, I found handmade candles, small metal sculptures and ceramic sculptures, perfume oils and interesting feathers. There was a mix of handmade and import items in the clothing stores in particular, and it could be hard to tell one from the other. My only disappointment in the fair was the FOOD. I was hoping for more old fashioned menus with foods of the times. The majority of menus were popular modern or ethnic foods like smoothies, chicken nuggets, fajitas, nachos, pierogi. There was a bakery near the entrance that had a beautiful selection of pastries. The classic turkey legs didn't appeal because frankly the meat looked too pink for my taste and I didn't want to risk sickness. I'd say the most compelling lack was vegan or gluten free items. If I'd brought my vegan friend, she would have had no food choices besides a lettuce salad, pickles and a blooming onion :/ Overall I had a wonderful day and really loved taking in everyone's fun dress-up and all the peaceful happy vibes. I would definitely return but I would hope to see improvement in the food court.

We stepped back in time today at the New York Renaissance Faire on its final day — and what a perfect day it was! The sun was shining, the energy was magical, and it truly felt like entering another world. From knights and jesters to fairies and royalty, the costumes were absolutely incredible — people went all out, and it showed. The performances were top-notch, with laughter, sword fights, joust and music around every corner. A perfect way to kick off the Halloween season with some old-world charm! Until next year, Huzzah!

Really enjoyed event. Got there from the NYC by coach bus, very comfortable and fast. You feel like you are in medieval village. People dressed up in old costumes, performances and outlets like that time as well. I do recommend to go there and have fun.

Mohonk Preserve

Nature preserve
Sights & Landmarks
Sprawling area of nature reserve with 75 mi. of carriage trails, cliffs, fields & forests.
I didn't get to see most of the trails this place has to offer. However the views from where I ended up were spectacular! This is a private preserve with a $15 per person charge,it's absolutely worth it. I plan on going back here again and making a day of it. Once again I was taken away with the views here. I guess this is a very popular spot for rock climbing too.

This one of the beautiful places I have been on NY state! Trails are hard but there is also just a nice walking as well around lake. We got lunch option and it was pretty god with lots of options and unlimited. They also have boats and kayaking for extra cost. From 4-5 there is tea with home made cookies😍 I would highly recommend this place!

We visited Mohonk Preserve and it was absolutely incredible. There are two ways to enter: through Mohonk Mountain House ($35) or through Mohonk Preserve ($15 for hikers, $20 for bikers, climbers, or horseback riders). We entered via the preserve and took the Duck Pond Trail, but our experience went far beyond that. We passed the beautiful Lake Mohonk, then ventured onto the iconic Labyrinth Trailhead — just follow the red arrows. It was both challenging and fun, with rock scrambles, stone staircases, and narrow caves. At the top, we reached what looks like a castle: the Sky Top Tower, built in 1923 as a memorial to Albert K. Smiley, founder of Mohonk Mountain House. You can climb up to the terrace for a breathtaking 360° view of the Hudson River Valley — simply magical! 🌄 There are two portable restrooms at the top. The entire preserve is spotless and well-marked, offering trails for all skill levels. It’s perfect for an active getaway — whether as a couple, with friends, or family. 🚗 You can reach nearby New Paltz by car, Trailways bus, or taxi. The Ulster County Nature Bus also runs every Saturday from late April to late September during the 2025 season. ✅ Tips: bring water, snacks, light clothing, sturdy shoes, and a spirit of adventure. Highly recommended!

Has a lot of trails, really enjoyed doing the lemon squeezer, the ladders were fun to climb and the views of the Catskills was amazing. The resort itself is pretty but there are parts of the loop where your walking the deck which is a bit awkward, otherwise a great place to hike.

Made it up to the top of Bonticou Crag, and glad I did. There is a short field of substantial boulders you have to get thru on the trail, but the view is worth it. Five stars.

Lovely trail! A few sections were a bit muddy and sticky, but totally manageable. There’s a charming little rest hut at the top—perfect for a quick break. From there, we took the North Duck Pond Trail back and were treated to some beautiful views along the way. (Bonus: there’s a porta potty at the trailhead!) If a 4-year-old can handle it, you’ve got this too! 😅

Huge area to explore. Did the south side. Has elevations, water holes, great views on the top of Mohonk Mt. I’d plan around which parking spot to use depending on what you want to do. Can’t wait to go back and explore the north side!

We decided to check out the Mohonk Preserve on 8/19/25. Staff member, Denyse, saved the day with her kindness, knowledge, and professionalism! She patiently showed us several appropriate routes for our party while expertly describing the details of each one. As we were from out of state, we really appreciated her welcoming and inclusive nature! She is truly a gem and her presence was simply the icing on the cake to one of the most beautiful hikes we have ever been on!! Bring your camera because the views are exceptional!!! Also, if you are hiking with your dog, bring plenty of water for him/her as there was no access to a water source. We prepared ahead for this possibility but thought we would pass on the tip! Highly recommend this beautifully conserved wonderland!!!!

Overlook Mountain

Mountain peak
Nature & Parks
Mountains
This 3,140-ft-high peak features a 1927 fire tower, trails & the ruins of a historical hotel.
A bit of a boring and steep hike but the old hotel ruins and vista at the top is well worth it. Be prepared for a straight ascent all the way to the top, and then a straight descent back down. Trail is well compacted and not too busy. Dog friendly as well. We did see a big rattlesnake on the way back down, so be careful!
Kev Z — Google review
A nice incline for 2.5 miles up past the hotel ruins to fire tower. In the summer this hike can be brutal; as the wide trail is primarily in full sun, and it’s a very stead incline the entire way. Precipitation brings the chance you may not see anything when you reach the top. Running down no matter the weather is my favorite however.
Yeening C — Google review
Awesome hike to an even better view! Hiked in the night before and camped at Echo Lake. Not the easiest hike but take plenty of pit stops to check out your surroundings and you'll get to the top. Going up was brutal. Going down was a breeze. Didn't see and rattlesnakes but definitely be cautious.
Thomas — Google review
I did this 4.6(supposedly 5) mile up and back hike in 2 hours with a break up top to enjoy the view and climb the fire tower. Pretty spectacular. 1400 feet of elevation according to Strava. Small parking lot. Enjoy
Karl P — Google review
Popular, clearly defined carriage-road trail with 3 main attractions - 1. Resort ruins 2. Fire watchtower 3. Overlook viewpoint. Moderate difficulty hike with beautiful views and a good chance of seeing natural wildlife, picturesque scenery & friendly hikers. Trail & parking becomes very busy on the weekends & holidays. Recommend about 3 hours for moderate hikers to complete. Enjoyable for all ages.
Michael R — Google review
Definitely a beautiful look out. Moderate hike to get to the top.You will also see a fire tower in an old Stone ruin of an old hotel that used to be back up there in the days.Definitely a must see if you are into finding old stuff.

Overlook is great but Fire Tower gives you best view 360 degree.

Mostly uphill hike and not a very exciting one but very manageable; the views from the tower and the sweet company of the men at the cabin on top are worth it!

Mohonk Mountain House

Resort hotel
Massage spa
Nestled by a serene lake, Mohonk Mountain House offers all-inclusive packages with charming accommodations, buffet dining, golfing, and a rejuvenating spa. Families can enjoy an array of activities suitable for all ages, from exploring scenic trails of varying difficulty levels to relaxing on the lake beach. The little ones can delight in playing with other kids while older children engage in catching salamanders or fishing in the abundant waters.
I just wanted to come on here and leave a great review specifically for the guest services and valet team at Mohonk Mountain House. I was able to visit with a day hiking pass from my local library — an awesome opportunity for people who want to enjoy the beauty of this property without the typical cost. I originally thought the pass allowed parking at the Mountain House, but we were redirected to Spring Farm and learned it would be about a two-hour hike to reach the Lemon Squeeze and the Mountain House area. After doing my own research, I realized it was closer to about an hour and 15 minutes, so we went for it. We had a great hike, loved the experience, and enjoyed the incredible views — but by the time we finished, daylight had gotten away from us. Our plan was to grab an Uber back down to our car, and the front desk told us to wait at the entrance — but after 25 minutes with no driver (and quickly dying phones), we found out from the valet team that Ubers and taxis actually aren’t allowed past the Gatehouse. At that point we were exhausted, unsure what to do, and really didn’t want to hike back down in the dark. This is where the staff truly went above and beyond. Even though it’s not something they normally do for day guests, the valet team and managers stepped up and arranged a ride for us down to the Gatehouse. Jacob, who drove us, was incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional. Thanks to them, we safely caught our Uber from the bottom and made it back to our car without a stressful night hike. I am truly grateful for their kindness, hospitality, and willingness to help us out of a tough situation. It turned what could have been a rough ending into a positive memory. We will definitely be more prepared next time, and I can’t thank the valet and guest services team enough! Highly recommend — and thank you again to everyone who helped us!

A Memorable Stay at Mohonk Mountain House I recently stayed at Mohonk Mountain House and was truly impressed by its rustic charm and historic character. The setting is absolutely breathtaking—panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and lake make it feel like a retreat into nature. The outdoor amenities, from hiking trails to lake activities, were top-notch and added so much to the experience. Service throughout the resort was excellent. The staff were warm, friendly, and always eager to help, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Dining at The Granary was a highlight—the food was incredible and the casual outdoor setting was perfect. Dinner at the main dining room offered a great menu, though the meals were a bit hit or miss in terms of execution. Overall, I’d highly recommend Mohonk Mountain House for a fun and relaxing family getaway in any season. Whether you're looking to unwind or explore the outdoors, this place has something for everyone.

This historic resort has a mix of rustic and grand mission style architecture and charm. Attracts lodgers, and day visitors alike from every demographic and geographic area imaginable. Aside from the occasionaly boisterous toddler, you will find guests well mannered. Great trails, hikes, and scrambles for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels and ages. The reward for your traverses are some incredible views. Food is mostly continental and classic American fare. If you want to explore ethnic and fusion dishes the Founder's dining room is highly recommended. Best lunches are outdoors at Granary (weather permitting.) Younger adult guests may find the entertainment too esoteric or folksy, but it keeps evenings homey and peaceful. Many activities like horse riding and bikes cost extra. Also, no pets allowed. The resort is also great for weddings and conferences.

The mountain and lake are beautiful! Hotel is lovely but a little dated. Staff were nice. Price was 2-3 times what you would expect but what bothered me was this petty sign on the lotion in my bathroom (“if you choose to take this lotion home, a charge of $65 will be added to your account”). Seriously? They think so little of their guests that they have to warn you not to steal from them? And post the punishment, if you do. So I can’t recommend a stay at the hotel but lunch and a stroll around the property would be a fun way to spend the day.
Peggy F — Google review
This establishment was undoubtedly the most exceptional place I have ever visited. They offered a comprehensive menu featuring breakfast, lunch, and dinner, accompanied by coffee and cookies. Additionally, they provided a diverse selection of teas. Our stay lasted approximately five days, and during that time, I refrained from using my phone entirely. It was an ideal retreat that allowed me to disconnect from technology and rejuvenate. The experience precisely met my needs. Furthermore, while I was there, I sustained a muscle strain. Fortunately, the establishment had an in-house doctor who promptly examined me. Moreover, their security staff received specialized EMS training, which I found highly commendable.
Ethan S — Google review
The high price is a myth Mohonk is a resort that’s been owned by the same family since the 1860s and they apparently have used the money to keep the place well maintained. For example, this fall they’re building a new bicycle and Tennis center. Reading the reviews I see that there’s a concern that the price is high and the rooms are a little inconsistent. If you think about $1000 a night for a room that sounds very high except you’re not just getting the room. You’re getting three meals which will cost you for two people $350-$400 outside of the resort. You also get a panoply of activities, including Tennis, archery, tomahawk, throwing, mindfulness classes, a wonderful pool, 85 acres of grounds, fishing in the lake (of course the chef doesn’t cook your catch anymore), boating, an on-site, naturalist, beautiful views, lots of places to visit in little nooks and crannies all over the property, including balconies and living room type spots, bicycles and even a game room. They have a gift shop that has all the things you would need including the usual over-the-counter drugs. They supply you with shavers and other toiletries as necessary if requested. On your way out, they give you a sandwich box. These activities are also worth at least another $250 outside especially for two people so, if you add the $350 and $250 you get $600 and then the hotel room is only $400. The overpriced cost is a myth. The other complaint is about the rooms being inconsistent. Yes the rooms are all different, but you remember this hotel is an old hotel and each of the rooms is small, but the bed is wonderful, the plumbing works, and the whole place is well maintained. It’s clean. I’ve been in so many hotels that are straightened out, but is not dust free like this place. You don’t have to spend much time in your room with all the other private spots to hang out. I’ve attached a few photos and I highly recommend going to Mohonk for a great time. I went as a couple, but I think it would be a great family vacation. Good luck explaining the reasonable price at 1000 a night. Oh the price includes gratuities. And it really isn’t necessary to tip.. Focused on the money cause it seemed like that was the main concern. This place is I just a wonderful good time.
David S — Google review
Old dated and overpriced. Beautiful nature around a tiny pond .. more picturesque and good for a hike than a resort. If you like a bed a breakfast feel from the 70s, a day trip would suffice …
Sean A — Google review
The view and nature around Mohonk Mountain House are unmatched peaceful, powerful, and full of reflection energy. You can tell it’s a place built for rest and scenery. However, for the price and reputation, I expected the rooms and service to stand out more. The location is incredible, but the experience could use a little more warmth and consistency to match it. Still worth visiting for the atmosphere alone just hope they level up the details next time. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ #LouieKsUp #LegacyInMotion

Angry Orchard Cider House

$$$$affordable
Cider bar
60-acre orchard that makes & serves their own cider, plus guided tours, events & bites from an in-house kitchen.
Darrin was a fantastic tour guide! My group of 4 participated in the $25 cider tour that came with 2 tastings and we learned so much about the facility, history, and making of cider because of Darrin! He was a great storyteller and the cider was so good! I hope they continue serving the pumpkin cider next year because it was so delicious. We traveled about 1hr 20mins from New Jersey but it was worth the drive! Beautiful area with many things to do at the orchard besides the tour. The lines do get long at the food trucks sometimes but it's worth the wait!

Such a beautiful place to relax and enjoy a cider flight! I tried First Crush, Albany Post, Headless Pumpkin, and Berry Bewitched (my personal favorite — I love anything with berries!). Headless Pumpkin was the group favorite, full of cozy fall spice. The staff were super friendly, and the orchard views are just stunning. They also have several food trucks with great options — fresh-made pizza, nachos on the go, and a few other tasty quick bites. And if you’re interested in the Treehouse Tasting, I recommend reserving early — it books up fast! Perfect spot for a laid-back afternoon — highly recommend! 🍎🍂

We visited thr ciderhosue as I'm a lover of Angry Orchard cider. First coming across it in NYC, thankfully we get it in Scotland but its just not the same as it is from the ciderhouse. So when I knew our roadtrip was taking us close to here I couldn't pass the chance to visit. My Fiancée got the job of driving after I had a few samples on tour and in the treehouse and even a flight to finish it off lol. We did 2 tours on the day, which were both amazing The first being the production tour with Darrin. It was just the 2 of us on the tour which made it feel a bit more special having our own private tour, I'm so glad they didnt cancel our tour because of low numbers like most places would. We were warmly welcomed outside the production room by Darrin who had a sample for us each to try. He started to tell us the story of the cider, the orchard and much more. He was fun friendly and very informative and you can also tell he has a real passion for the cider and what he does. We were lucky enough to time it right to see them pressing some apples which he said you dont always seem on the tour. We went further into the production room and took a seat which made it feel so relaxed and less like a tour and more like sitting with a friend, learning more about cider making process and watching what was going on in the production room. He gave us a bigger sample of their seasonal pumpkin cider which to be honest I didnt think I would like but both me and my Fiancée were pleasant surprised by the taste and would highly recommend it. Darrin also then gave us a small batch sample to try which if I'm right in saying it was a cracked black lime cider which was delicious, he then showed us all the awards they have won for their cider. Overall highly recomed this tour and if you get Darrin your in for a real treat he's a true gentleman and a great tour guide. The second tour/experience of the day was the treehouse tasting. Yet again it was only 2 of us on this experience I think due to it being more out of season, so it was our own little tatsing experience. It was hosted by Cameron or Carmen sorry if I missed heard your name or got completely confused, I will blame the amazing cider that was on offer. It was the girl with the Scottish Saltire tattoo on her arm. We were welcomed at the bottom of the treehosue and was told a bit about the orchard and how the treehouse came about. It was fascinating to learn more about the orchard and the production of cider whilst sampling some different ciders some of which are only available on that tasting experience or in the tap room. The views from the treehouse over the orchard and beyond are amazing. This is a truly one of a kind experience. Our host was brilliant she was so warm, friendly and funny too. It was so good having someone who actually understood our thick Scottish accent because of her Scottish connections. We actually spent so much time with her talking about the States and Scotland it felt more like friends having a catch up over a cider rather than a paid for experience, she made the whole visit so memorable. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Fantastic tours/experiences on offer, staff were amazing and of course the cider was tasty. A must do for any Cider lover

Dog friendly outside only! Has a good truck. Long walk from the large parking lot. Lots of handicapped parking. Overall nice place to relax, but pricier than other tap rooms, which comes with the name. Ordered a flight. I had their standard and the two other people I was with were a let o customize their flights since it was slow, but it had to be what was on draft. Everything was pretty tasty. Loved that there were certain ciders on tap that aren’t out in mass quantities. Food was typical. Menu was quite small for such a large place. Had the normal pizza and a pretzel. The great lawn outside was great especially at sunset. So much seating. And beautiful with the apple fields in the back.

This place is a nice place to go if you want to be outside with friends and they do allow dogs on leash. Since it’s in the mountains, there’s a crisp breeze with the sunshine peeking through the orchard that feels amazing - bring a coat. First week of November gives you the perfect autumn foliage. The only day activities that are free are walking around the small map and trying to snag a free picnic table in the back. You can pay to have a tour however, that mostly gives you access to the treehouse, which is on elevated platform with limited seating. Their ciders are divine and they do have a gift shop that you can take some home. There are food trucks in the back however, when getting your meal it it’s best to eat it quickly or it will get cold since you’re outside in the wind. Best for when you wanna gather and sit outside and have a drink with others while your kid runs around in the small circle they provided. I recommend going after Halloween and before Thanksgiving.

I finally was able to visit again after 7 years! I can't believe every speck of the building still looks brand new and there are even more apple trees and space to enjoy indoor and out! With a variety of styles of cider this is the place for anyone who may or may not like cider or beer or wine (or pop!). Everyone working was so nice to me and helped me take my purchases out to the parking lot- bring a big bottle of cider to your holiday gathering this year- ciders that were grown here, pressed, fermented, and bottled ON SITE- you will absolutely be the talk of the table! Yes they have food too and our chef does not disappoint!

I visited angry orchard for the first time and I absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was amazing! The food was pretty good as well as their ciders ( & I’m not a cider lover but their apple crisps & berry bewitched is sooo good). I definitely recommend coming with a group of friends, it is really nice! I definitely plan to come again! :) also the customer service was great too!!

I was driving around and exploring NY, on my way to chase down another waterfall and stumbled upon this gem! 🍎 I had no idea that Angry Orchard had a cider house and tasting room 🤷🏽‍♂️ but what a really cool place. Production and orchard tours are also offered, there are food trucks on site, they have flights, glasses and bottles of new & different ciders available for purchase. You're able to sample test beers, which\was really fun! Lots of tables to chill and hang out. The also have games to keep you entertained, like corn hole and more. There's even some merch so you can take a souvenir home and make your friends jealous! If you're traveling in the area, I'd def recommend a stop!

With 14 apple varieties that ripen at different times, the picking season is extended, providing ample opportunities to gather fresh produce. The orchard has been recognized as one of New York's best by Forbes and is known for its country store offering baked goods and juices.
We came with my kid's school field trip which was awesome! We got here at 10am. On a Wednesday and I couldn't believe it was still a good amount of people! However, it's late September and still 50% of good apples left..so not so bad. However, they don't really label which apples are what in some areas. The view was beautiful. The shop ran out of apple cider donuts already around 11ish am. A cold bottle of apple cider was very good after walking up and down hills carrying a heavy apple bag. Overall kids had so much fun and loved it!

Aaaahh… where do we begin, an exploration of insects, plants, herbs and most of all… apple heaven. They are very organized, most trees are labeled and the bags they provide you with have a map on them! A 200 acre oasis of greenery, I noticed families picnicking and having family fun while others were playing with their dogs. We picked a lot of apples and purchased their apple cider… which we also used to make delicious apple cider pancakes. Its a drive-through orchard and you can basically park in any of five parking areas within the orchard, some roads are rocky, if your car doesn’t have good ground clearance, I suggest parking by the entry, and walking your way through. As you hike up, you will notice picturesque landscapes. I had forgotten what fresh fruit tastes like until I started picking my own, it’s a world of a difference and I highly recommend it. This place is vast with apple trees and a plethora of varieties to choose from. Check out their website, you can also order online and pick up in store. So many things available for all ages.

Family day trip at Masker Orchard. The hills are amazing and the apples are delicious. Lots of food and kids fu to enjoy.

Apple picking is our new family tradition. We never been here before. We do like that we can drive through. However, would like the roads to be a little more stable. It may have been slippery too due to the rain from the morning. They have a farm animals such as goat, horses and chickens. Kids had fun. And they have a few clean shop with many different organic products. They also have a lot of choices in food. The staff are very nice and accommodating. Would definitely recommend. And the views are breathtaking

I’ve been coming to this orchard for many years! It’s always a joy to come and see God’s creation, and relax with the family. After picking apples, you have the option to stop by the shops and get fresh products. One of my favorites is apple donuts with half a gallon of apple cider!

We go here every year, and we greatlybenjoy picking the apples. Also like you can eat as many apples as you want. That BETTER not change... That being said, the new management leaves a lot to be desired. Some apple trees aren't labeled consistently, so unless there is a map that shows where everything is, I'd say to make an updated map, showing where every type of apple is. Also, the amount of poison ivy everywhere is ridiculous. There are pets and young children running around the orchard, who could easily touch it. I saw it in a lot of spots, including around the trees. This needs to be fixed. Some of the prices for the food is a bit much, when it's pretty bland. The donuts are fantastic, as is the apple cider. I haven't tried the brisket, ribs, or hot dogs, so those might be good. $40 for one bag is highway robbery. What if you only pick 20 apples? You're still being charged that amount??? Insanity! And we used to be able to have multiple bags! What happened? This. Needs. To. CHANGE.. FIX THESE ISSUES, or you will continue to lose service from loyal customers. P.s. I will continue to "greatlybenjoy" your orchard. 😊

We spent a wonderful afternoon picking apples, friendly staff, very helpful, great prices, tasty pies and jams. I wish we had sampled their BBQ but we got there later than we planned and decided to get to picking first. Their cider was delicious and wished we had brought more home. Fantastic experience, every year.

Minnewaska State Park Preserve

State park
Nature & Parks
Minnewaska State Park Preserve spans over 21,000 acres in the Shawangunk Mountains and boasts breathtaking views of waterfalls, three sky lakes, and 25 miles of trails ideal for hiking and biking. The park offers an assortment of territories to explore from wooded areas to rocky terrain while also featuring rock climbing opportunities. A highlight is the stunning fall foliage view that can be seen within a 15-20 minute walk.
Minnewaska State Park is about a 2-hour drive from Manhattan, and it’s completely worth it. The park has a beautiful waterfall and a stunning lake surrounded by vibrant fall colors. I did a short 30-minute trek to reach the top viewpoint instead of driving directly to the sunset spot and the view was spectacular 😍😍 The scenery from above was truly breathtaking, especially during fall. I didn’t have much time to explore the whole park, but even the little I saw was amazing. Highly recommend visiting if you love nature and want a peaceful escape from the city! 🌿🍁🏞️

This park is beautiful, it has a lake and waterfalls and multiple easy trails to walk. It also has a small beach with a lifeguard where you can swim. There is also an area for kayaking. The only thing I did not like, was the area for long distance swimmers, there is a sign that states “only members can swim”, however it doesn’t say you can’t walk in that area. My husband and I walked there and a crazy “Karen” wanted us to get out and go back to the trail. We were admiring the lake and walking and not bothering anyone. It really did not make any sense, needless to say I stayed longer just to make her enjoy her day 😂 even more, some people just act entitled and I will put them in their place if needed, but it’s not the park’s fault. After all, it is a park, and people should be allowed to explore unless otherwise posted. Aside from this incident, I would recommend this park, you will need a few visits to see everything! Also the visitor’s center staff are very friendly and helpful.

Minnewaska State Park is honestly one of my favorite places to just get away and chill. The views are unreal—think cliffs, lakes, waterfalls, and endless trees. I love hiking the trails here; every turn feels like a new adventure, and the air is so fresh. Whether I’m hanging out by the lake, snapping photos, or just taking in the scenery, it’s always super relaxing. It’s the kind of spot where you can totally unplug and just enjoy nature. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape with awesome views, you’ve gotta check this place out!

Hands-on most beautiful state park in New York has preserved the legacy of park’s founders Smiley brothers by maintaining the carriage roads and trails in excellent state. My favorite loop is to follow Castle road to Lake Awosting and return back via Hamilton road back to Minnewasca lake. Very scenic views that don’t require serious hiking effort, just slight inclines and declines. Natural beauty of Shawangunk Mountains here is supplemented by road building prowess of preserve’s founders and is the reason that we still have the park available now to thousands of daily visitors at a modest fee. Many grand historic hotels of Catskills don’t exist anymore including burnt out Cliff House and Windmere hotels previously located at shores of Lake Minnewasca till 1970s, so really glad that conservation efforts have succeeded here. New visitor center and expansive parking lots are huge improvement over park’s facilities of just six years ago.

Visited: Friday, October 24, 2025 I hiked the Castle Point Loop starting from the Upper Parking Lot. The parking lot was spacious and not crowded — definitely past the peak season — and parking was $10. The weather was a bit chilly, but the fall colors were still beautiful. At first, I took the UA trail toward Castle Point, but it was mostly gravel and not very exciting. Later I switched to the BR trail, which was better, though I hardly saw anyone the entire time — maybe fewer than five people total. The hike itself felt a bit monotonous; even on the way down, it was just gravel again, so I ended up jogging down. I remembered Gertrude’s Nose being much more interesting and scenic in comparison. I stopped by the Falls at the end, but honestly, it wasn’t something I’d go out of my way to see again. Overall, it’s a decent hike for solitude and views, but not one I’d rush to repeat — especially considering it takes around 5 hours round trip.
Karl K — Google review
Oh, it's so lovely. I come down from the north, and seeing the beautifully colored autumn leaves is especially a big treat. The most basic trail around the large lake in the park is perfect for couples to come and take a light, short walk. Of course, the surrounding scenery is beautiful, needless to say. If you've done a lot of hiking, there are courses suited to different abilities, so it would be great to experience them together. The view of the park from above is truly breathtaking. The visitor center is clean, and the staff are very friendly. Even though I visited on a cloudy day, I highly recommend it to anyone nearby or within a 1-2 hour drive!
Jason K — Google review
There is a lot of canopy for shade but there wasn't a lot of water coming over the falls. It was like a clogged shower head. You need to come after a rain storm. Over all it was nice, quiet, and not crowded. You can hear the sound of silence, and nature.
Doug H — Google review
One of our favorite park for years. You can hike. We love trail bike riding here with the family. The views are spectacular! Worth the uphill ride. No camera can capture its actual beauty. And we love what we call “the secret lake” - Lake Awosting since it’s in the middle of seemingly nowhere. Surrounded by hills and trees. Not always open so check before you go. Perfect full day activity. Bring snacks. Every ridges and valley points are worth stopping to just soak in all that grandeur nature has to offer! Please make sure to take your trash with you as you go to preserve its beauty.

We did the sky rider tour yesterday ! It was hands down the most amazing day! The colors were gorgeous. Our tour guides were Brandon and Tink, and you literally should request them!!! They were energetic, enthusiastic, fun, supportive and very informative! We felt safe and comfortable the entire time! I will 100% be back! If you’ve been thinking of doing it, so it!!!! I can not wait to go again!

Just did the sky rider tour with some of my friends, and we had an absolute blast. We got to go on 5 ziplines and walk over a really cool suspension bridge. It was during peak fall foliage, so the views were absolutely stunning. Our tour guides were very knowledgeable, engaging and fun! I would highly recommend booking a tour with them if you are in the area, you won’t be disappointed.

What a fun day! We did the full 3 hour tour with Sam, Luke and Bryan who made the whole experience a lot of fun. They were great guides and clearly love their jobs. The length of the tour definitely made it worth the price! Just be prepared to use your 'abs'.

Awesome time. We did the mid mountain tour for starters but definitely want to return for the skyrider. We had a ridiculous amount of rain and ended up completely saturated but it didn't stop the fun at all. I mean if you haven't ziplined down a mountain in the pouring rain, did you even Zipline? Such a fun time and the rain made us go faster 😂 our guides Brandon and Kincaid were awesome. We had a lot of laughs and fun during our experience. Looking forward to the skyrider in the future.

The zip lining was an absolute blast today, I would 10/10 recommend everyone go and enjoy themselves! The tour guides Zack, Nate and Dustin were hysterical and fun easing everyone's nerves, and really made the experience even that much more enjoyable. Can't wait to come back again someday!

Make sure you have a way to secure your phone and stuff. I forgot this and bought a Fanny pack-type-thing for $20. First time zip lining for my girls and me but we had a blast. Group size will be about 5-10. Guides are very patient and good about getting the little ones to take their first zip when they are 50 feet in the air. They don’t get frustrated if it takes more than 5 minutes for the kids to let go.

My wife and I went on the Skyrider Tour and love it! It was my second time here but my wife's first. Our guides Luke and Dakota were great and made the experience more enjoyable. I highly recommend trying this Excursion at least once, you won't be disappointed.

New York Zipline Adventures skyrider tour exceeded our expectations by far! It was such an amazing and fun experience, with incredible views of the mountain range! Coming mid-October was a great idea as the fall foliage was beautiful. One of the best parts was our guides. Tink, Dustin, and Dakota were so awesome, we felt very safe and in good hands! Not only were they very knowledgeable and experienced, but all three had the best personalities and told funny stories which made sure everyone in the group had a memorable time. I definitely want to go back again, and will be absolutely requesting the same guides.

Hunter Mountain Resort is a mountainside retreat that offers cozy condos equipped with kitchens and fireplaces, making it a convenient choice for visitors. The resort has recently returned to full capacity, and the town of Hunter is bustling with activity. Guests can savor delectable treats at the newly opened Fellow Mountain Cafe on Main Street. The resort's staff members are known for their exceptional service, as exemplified by David at the front desk who went above and beyond to accommodate an early arrival.
Enjoyed our visits here. Had a lots of fun as a beginner. Resort has nearly everything you need. Even if you are missing equipment, you can purchase from their place. I would recommend renting the first time, the process is easy and the waiting line was managable. I would definetly recommend this place to enjoy snow with friends and family.

So I've have skiied at Hunter a few times, great place during the week. We took the chairlift ride to the top, the summit lodge is closed temporarily for a remediation of some sorts. If you don't like heights this is not the place to be. The views are always great. Make sure you wear good walking shoes. The fall is the best time to go. Enjoy your ride.

We went to Octoberfest at Hunter Mountain. It was nice. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. It is a lot smaller though compared to years ago when our family would attend. The steak food truck was great! Awesome food and excellent service! Also had funnel cake, always a plus! And tried poutine for the first time. It was good. I will probably go back next year.

Place has really gone down hill ever since it has been sold to Vail. The trails have practically stayed the same for a decade with maybe one or two new trails. Hellgate is always fun but it’s the only trail that you can get real speed on. They have fun terrain parks and a nice lodge bar but otherwise it’s gone down hill. They sell overpriced tickets and practically force you to buy overpriced food. Management is a bunch of goofballs who have no idea how to run the logistics of a mountain.
JustJrmy — Google review
SkyRide up Hunter Mtn in the Fall likely better than in any other season. Helpful staff...beautiful views on a clear day...could almost see the Rockies. After 11am the indoor outdoor food vendors purvey their standard wares alongside kiddie fun rides. WORTHWHILE

WIFI desperately needs to be updated! Unfortunately, I was there on off-season so I did not get to snowboard on the Mountain other than that the accommodations were comfortable. It would be helpful if the rooms provided bed arrangements. We had a three bedroom suite and our third bedroom had bunkbeds which was not what we needed for our accommodations. TVs need updating as well

I ski and live an hour away but never had been there. The line to return on the fall leaf chair lift was insanely long because they didn't encourage people to share seating.
T M — Google review
Solid ski experience for a day. Trails are somewhat limited and not too many lifts exist in this small NE mountain. The staff was very helpful and they make a point to load six skiers at a time which helps with lines. The food is typical low-quality high-price food, but the pizza is decent. I wish they improved that aspect. Overall a decent option not too far from NYC.

Warwick Valley Winery, Distillery & Orchard is a charming vineyard that offers regular tastings and features an on-site bakery/cafe. Visitors can also enjoy seasonal apple picking at the orchard. Additionally, the establishment houses 17&O, a sustainable candle company with a brick-and-mortar location on Warwick Main Street. Guests have praised the friendly and knowledgeable staff, as well as the live music and delicious food offerings such as brick oven-style pizza, wings, and truffle fries.
Such a wonderful place! We went for a Bob Dylan show and the vibes were great. The venue is beautiful, and so many places to sit and room for kids to run around. We had the best day sitting in the grass and enjoying the music. The food and drinks are all great - with a special shout out to the Margherita pizza. The cafe and store are so well stocked. Everyone there was so nice. Just a wonderful day all around - we can’t wait to go back!

Honestly, it was a very meh experience. The wine tasting atmosphere was not inviting and very casual. The food was lacking for its price. The service wasn’t friendly and it took them a while to acknowledge us. The only thing that we liked was the wine & cider they produced.

Visited for the first time this weekend and not only was the weather perfect but the cider, wine, food and apples were amazing! Our wine steward, Dawn, was very knowledgeable and friendly! She gave us plenty of recommendations on how to mix and serve the different ciders and spirits. We were even able to take a group photo on the tractor Will definitely visit again in the spring or summer

Such a fun place to spend the day! This winery and orchard (about 1.5 hours from Jersey City or NYC) has everything — apple picking, wine tasting, food, drinks, live music, and even ice cream. We’d been here a couple of years ago and came back recently — it’s still just as great. We went at the end of September/early October, and the orchard was full of beautiful apples — red, green, super crisp and sweet. Apple picking costs $40 per bag (they give you a big one to fill), and honestly it’s worth it. We filled ours easily and the apples were top quality. The place is huge, with tons of open green space and picnic-style seating. Perfect spot to bring a blanket, relax on the grass, and enjoy some drinks. They had live music when we visited, and the whole vibe was just super chill and family-friendly. We tried a few ciders, one cocktail, and ordered pizza and a pulled pork sandwich — all tasty, a bit pricey but expected for this kind of spot (around $45 for the food). There’s also a shop where you can buy wine or cider bottles to take home — great for gifts! Overall, a perfect fall day trip. Plan to spend the whole day there — eat, drink, pick apples, and enjoy the view. Highly recommend bringing a blanket and just soaking it all in 🍎🍷
Ivanna K — Google review
Our favourite upstate apple picking / cider drinking / whiskey tasting / fall experience. On the weekends it can get pretty busy so we opt for the Tuesday chill vibe. The tasting room is open and you can try the local ciders or whiskey. Grab some snacks from the fridge and chill in the crisp fall air and relax. They have an amazing orchard of apples with tons of varieties to pick from. Everyone is always really friendly and knowledgable about all the stuff they produce. The grounds are beautiful to roam. Easy to get to and park. Close to the town of Warwick.
Michael H — Google review
Overpriced for what it is. $10 parking fee and a 15% service charge even on to-go food orders and drinks, including apple cider and sodas. Food and wine were just okay. The food and drink lines are separate, so you have to wait in long lines twice (even at 2pm) — and after ordering, we waited 35 minutes for the food to come out. It also took about 50 minutes just to find a table, which had no chairs. The portapotty bathrooms were dirty and unpleasant. Apple picking was ok, but overall it felt too expensive, crowded, and not very family-friendly.

Highest peak in the Catskill! Pretty moderate hike! The top doesn’t have the “view” but these overlooks were INCREDIBLE😍 very rewarding! 5 mile out and back hike!
Kayla M — Google review
Not bad for my first real mountain hike! The steep rocky sections were a little difficult, but I pushed myself up the mountain for the rewarding view. There are two overlooks at the top where you get the best view. My favorite part of the hike was the little streams that flowed across the trail - such beauty and peace in the silence. I would recommend staying on the red trail. My partner and I chose the blue trail going down which was mostly unkept.
Heather G — Google review
Pretty cool trail. It’s a long way up with views that aren’t the best at the top. The trail isn’t marked very well but it’s pretty hard to get lost. The parking lot fills up fast so get here early and if that still doesn’t work, you can park on the side of the road with no issues. There is no phone service here at all so if that bothers you, this hike isn’t for you. Also don’t forget bug spray as there is many bugs that will follow you the entire way
Chris — Google review
Great hike. It’s a pretty winding and weaving drive to the trailhead, but the hike itself is really pretty and great prep for a bigger mountain maybe in the ADK’s. The summit has alpine terrain and ledge to look off of, showcasing the rest of the Catskills. About a 6 mile hike overall with some elevation gain. So yeah — definitely recommend!

Not a bad hike up slide mountain, rocky hike from the start to the end will have you working your ankle and knees like crazy. Beautiful view from lookout, not much of a view once at the very top, have to back track to the lookouts to get your view, tree marking very well lacked but overall very good hike. 2.8 miles hike ( 5.6 miles combined ) took us 5 hours

My kids loved this place. They keep talking about it a month later and keep asking when we’re going back. It seems pricey because you’re paying by activity instead of an entrance fee. But in the end we paid similar to what we would’ve if we’d have bought a bracelet etc. definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed our time at Holiday Mountain! There are trails for beginners as well as more challenging slopes. My 12-year-old son tried skiing for the first time, and by the end of the day, he was confidently going down the black diamond runs. Great place for skiers of all levels!

For starts the whole mountain is 1000 times better than it ever was. I have been skiing at Holiday Mountain since I was three years old. And snowboarding since I was seven. Now 30 and teaching my own kids. I have Been out there eight times so far this year. The way they accommodate the mountain when there is a fresh powder is amazing. All the side trails and little cuts on each side of All the main trails are some fun times ! The addition of Turkey Trot took Holiday to a different level. I have seen the good the bad and the ugly of the past 27 years here at Holiday and I just wanna take a moment to give the BIGGEST HEARTFELT THANK YOU and show appreciation to every last person that has took on a roll to make the mountain what it is today. Every single last Person deserves their flowers! Also a special shout out to the rental room crew. It doesn’t matter what it is, if they can help you they are the first ones there to do so. From letting you borrow a screwdriver to making sure you are Good to go 100% to your Comfortability with the correct size equipment for you. It doesn’t matter if you have to go back in there five times Over for whatever reason , they treat you with the upmost respect and take care of all your needs. With that being said, it is safe to say that HOLIDAY MTN is BACK and here to STAY ! ❤️

Great place for families and easy skiing and tubing. Love it! One suggestion for the tubing. Open a secondary option for walking up the slope as it really does drag and you don't get your money's worth unfortunately. You can open the far side up for kids that want to run up and get more runs in. It would open the flow up substantially. And tire out the kids. Win win.

The new Holiday Mountain is INCREDIBLE! My family and I used to come to Holiday Mountain from the early 90's through the mid 2000's. It was always a nice but simple skiing and snowboarding experience, but it was usually a day trip or stopover till going to larger (but much further away!) mountains. Well... the new owners have shown how truly great a small, local mountain can be! I was blown away by the quality of the new trails, and the thoughtfulness of the new park layout. They managed to squeeze a ton of fun and dynamic trails into the newly revamped "Turkey Trot" area that is now serviced by a great 4-person chair lift that rode beautifully, smoothly, and quickly! The runs are very modern in design and slope, and allow for advanced skiers or boarders to go blazingly fast if they want, while still giving beginners the ability to slow down and transition to easier portions of the trails. They created very easily navigated transitions from the north side of the park's trails to the south side of the park's trails. They added a Double Black Diamond run called "Hackledam" that is absolutely amazing and incredibly steep. The snow was groomed perfectly and the quality was as good or better than many mountains that are much farther away and much more expensive. The value of this newly revamped Holiday Mountain cannot be matched! To have something this nice only an hour and a half outside NYC is amazing! This is an EASY day trip for anyone looking for winter fun. They have a great "Lessons Area" that is serviced by a brand new magic carpet that made my 9yr old daughter's first snowboarding trip "the best day EVER!" I cannot say enough good things about her instructor, Andrew O. who had my daughter doing heel stops in minutes and toe-turns by the end of her lessons. His patience and attention to detail was amazing! He helped instill a foundational love for snowboarding that will last a lifetime and I will be forever grateful for his ability to help my daughter feel so confident and comfortable throughout her 1st trip. The entire staff was amazingly helpful, from the people at the counter registering my daughter for lessons, to the rental area where my wife rented her boots, to the people in the gift shop. The cafeteria has great food and there is a ton of seating. Even on Saturday when it was packed, there were still places to sit comfortably. There's also a Maine Waffle Shack outside the South Lodge that was incredible for a quick mid-morning snack! They have a wonderful bar (The Lift Room!) that has really nice live trail cams, so you can keep an eye on party members while you're taking a break. They have a fantastic snow tubing area with a magic carpet as well, for when the kids (and adults!) get tired and need a break from the slopes! There is a ton of parking and they even have great staff guiding people in the lot as well! The attention to detail by the new owners is truly impressive! As someone who spent my 20's & 30's coming to Holiday Mountain for an inexpensive & simple (but still fun!) time snowboarding with friends and family, I am in awe of how well done these renovations have been. The entire park was incredibly clean and the staff was amazing! This will be a vacation spot for my family for many many years to come!

High Point State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
Park
Panoramic hilltop views, a lake for swimming, boating & fishing, plus hiking trails & a ski center.
Great day trip in the Tri State area. Beautiful views, rich history, trails for all levels of experience. Nice lakes and playgrounds make it a great day for picnics for couples and families! We recommend stopping at Up the Creek Cafe for some delicious food while you’re out in the area.

This place is great. Family had a good time and it's a good price. Non nj residents pay a little extra to get in but it is not that much. went on a weekday and it was not that busy lots of different activities to do at the location. going to the lake, the scenic drive, checking out the monument, lots of different trails. The water by the lake was clean and so was the sand. the lifeguards on duty were polite. will definitely be coming back.

It's a nice family friendly park. The monument is worth a trip and is a great place for a visit for locals, tourists, and people visiting all the high points in America. Outside of the highpoint monument the park is fine. Nearby state parks in and outside of New Jersey offer a wider array of better camping spots and hiking opportunities particularly in Pennsylvania. Also this park has a fee to enter which is not common for other parks around, especially in Pennsylvania.

We took the 3.24 miles “Monument trail” (red-green) loop. It is easily accessible from the parking near Interpretive Center. Hike is moderate and has clear guidance about the trails .We missed the greenery, but the view from the top was breath taking. Most of the restrooms were closed (maybe seasonal operations). But the one near beach parking lot , which was opened was not at all hygiene!!

High Point State Park, home to the highest point in New Jersey, offers a wealth of material for various writing approaches. Vista of three states (New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania) from the monument at 1,803 feet above sea level. Include the extensive network of hiking, biking, and skiing trails, Lake Marcia for swimming and other water activities, camping options, and picnic areas. Dog-friendly policies, seasonal accessibility, and safety tips for hiking and encountering wildlife like bears.

We went there on a gorgeous fall day mid October. It was gorgeous. The views from the monument were amazing. Wasn't a cloud in the sky. Go on a nice clear day

Delaware & Ulster Railroad

Tours
Scenic Railroads
We had tickets for the dining car. The train ride was so fun, such a great and novel experience. The train was pristine and the food was delightful. We so enjoyed the outdoor car after our meal. Truly an incredible experience and a must for the Catskills for locals and visitors alike.
Arden S — Google review
I debated on my stars for this railroad. We've been on various kinds of rails, tourist, commuter, cross-country, and international, so I think our expectations were a little higher than they should have been. We were expecting higher speeds, a longer route, and views of the valley area or better views of the mountains. HOWEVER, I think this is a GREAT little railroad ride for families, people with dogs, young and old alike. It was a very sweet and enjoyable ride. My party just wanted a bit more out of it. We were in the open-air car. We got there early to get on the train, the line and clump of people is long and large, but once everyone got on the train there was plenty of room for people. They start to board about 5-10 minutes before departure. We were spread out in the open-air car; we did not go inside the dining and "first class" cars because of our pets and tickets. We bought tickets online the day of driving to it about 2 hours before departure. I do believe you can walk up and buy tickets as long as there is availability. Staff was friendly, and the conductors run the gift shop/learning center inside. Accessibility note: yes, there is a ramp to the shop and train. I did not measure but I believe ADA compliant. There is also a ramp from the open-air cars to the dining and first class cars, but it did not seem to be 36 inches wide, however, I did not measure. (Now I want to start bringing a measuring tape.)

A Timeless Ride Through the Heart of the Catskills I recently had the pleasure of riding the Delaware & Ulster Railroad’s scenic Fall Foliage train, and it was nothing short of magical. From the moment we boarded the historic open-air car, we were transported into a world of vibrant colors, crisp mountain air, and nostalgic charm. The ride itself was the perfect length—about 45 minutes—and offered stunning views of the East Branch of the Delaware River, framed by a tapestry of red, orange, and gold leaves. Wildlife sightings added to the experience (we spotted a heron and a few deer!), and the gentle pace allowed us to soak in every detail without feeling rushed. The staff were warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about preserving the legacy of this beautiful railroad. The Arkville depot had a lovely exhibit showcasing the history of the region, and the gift shop was a great place to pick up a unique souvenir. Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or just looking for a peaceful escape from the city, this ride is a must. I’ll definitely be back—and next time, I’m bringing friends. Highly recommended for all ages!
Andre J — Google review
The train went about 2 miles per hour for half an hour, then stopped and returned back to the station at about 2 miles per hour. It was really unimpressive. Being in a train as old as it is was kind of cool, but there was no description by the conductor about the train, the journey or anything. Nor was there anything inside the train that explained its origins or its history. It was a ride to nothing and a ride back from nothing. Very disappointing.
Lloyd F — Google review
I happened to spot these trains on the way back from Panther Mountain hike. It’s really cool that they have these trains on display, for motorists and tourists like me to see. Such a wonderful peace of history that has been preserved! I’d love to come back and book tickets on my next trip through the Catskills!!

Fun leaf peeping train! A slow ride through a pretty piece of forest on a nice day. The folks working the train were kind and helpful. Everything was easy but the parking.
Ken W — Google review
Found by chance driving through the area. Stopped right before one of the trains departed. Was able to get on an open car and enjoy a nice train ride! Total time was about an hour. Friendly staff!
Mike J — Google review
I'll start with the good parts of my experience. I booked the trip a month ago and it was easy to book online with no hassles. My ride was an hour and a half and it was a beautiful ride up through the Catskills. The parking is a little confusing but there is plenty of it. The train station is adorable and they have a nice picnic area to sit and relax before or after your train ride. The staff is warm and friendly. The ride was slow but that's a plus for me as I like to take pictures. Unfortunately, with no real rain for so long, there wasn't much to look at as the leaves were mostly on the ground at this point - nothing to do with the railroad itself. I will say that the ride was a little depressing. A lot of backyards with junk cars and trash and one growing marijuana in a makeshift greenhouse. I sat on the main road side of the tracks - not sure what was on the other side. I would see if local code enforcement would take a ride and look at what's going on - so many property maintenance violations. If the town would get on board and make these people clean up their properties, knowing that this attraction is good for the local town and economy, it may be a more pleasant train ride. The social media hype far outweighed the reality of this trip.

Grey Towers National Historic Site

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Grey Towers National Historic Site is a stunning estate featuring a French chateau-style mansion built in 1886, surrounded by vast, landscaped lawns. The well-maintained grounds and the beautiful building offer visitors a glimpse into history. The staff is praised for their professionalism and dedication to preserving the site's significance. This former home of the Pinchot Family in Milford, Pennsylvania, now serves as a preserved museum with free outdoor visits and guided tours inside the mansion for a fee.
This was a last-minute stop as we had not heard about it before but it was fantastic! There is something for everyone, history, beautiful gardens, hiking trails, and a nice, clean, small downtown nearby. It was pouring on and off the day we stopped by so we didn't chance the trails but we toured the home, did the Jr ranger program, watched the videos, and took some time to sit in the rockers and take in the view. Everything was clean and all the Rangers were very nice and knowledgeable, we stumped one with our questions but another ranger was able to answer for us. Well worth the stop, you could spend an hour here or a whole day. Enjoy!

Beautiful grounds. The inside of the house was breathtaking and worth the cost. The informative video in the bait house was very interesting. All of the rangers and volunteers were friendly and very knowledgeable. Make sure you look at what time the tours are, the grounds are open all week but the gift shop and tours are only on certain days. Tickets can only be purchased in the gift shop.

This place is incredible! One of the best of hundreds of historical sites I have ever been to. Didn't get to take a tour or go inside cuz it was closed due to government shutdown (thank you Dems), but the outside of the house and the grounds were unreal. Just a short few miles/minutes off 84 close to Milford, definitely worth a stop on your travels. So much to see. Even the bathroom facility in the parking area was a tower. Plenty of parking and great bathrooms with water fountains. Came during fall, so got added bonus of fall decorations, including pumpkins. Can't wait to return for a tour of the inside!
Jimmer W — Google review
Quiet and vast area filled with history. We walked around the perimeter and soaked in all the beautiful flowers, sun and landscape. There's two levels of parking available and there were tours happening. It was an enjoyable afternoon roaming around.
Babs V — Google review
Wow, wow, wow!! This place was impressive beyond belief. And, it was a complete surprise find while road tripping through the New England states. While we were on time constraints and didn't get to make it inside the house, just the outside is a site to marvel at. I love seeing these types of places and imagine myself living there in times gone by. Hard to believe JFK was here shortly before he had gotten assassinated. Lots of history in the video. Make this a stop on your travels, you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful home full of history of an early time of US history and the begginig of the US Forrest conservamcy movement. Pinchot family involved after they, very ironically, made their fortune in the logging industry and significantly deforested the area. Apparently one of the progeny, grandson, i think, became upset witnessing the ravaged woods in pennsylvania. This personn became the first US forrester after studying in europe. He ultimately was govenor of pa twice and established the US Forrest Service. Mansion built by famous architect of the gilded age. Can only tour the first floor for $10 but it is worth it. Nice picture of life then. Some interesting touches outside home as they entertained some big time dignitaries like a stone table with a water center where food would be floated for dining guests to sserve themselves.4 stars because there were part of the gardends that looked very interesting but were locked off without explanation.
Ricardo F — Google review
It is a beautiful place and a well-maintained site. I was so grateful that there was no entrance fee. If you want to tour the castle, you need a ticket. You can also buy simple drinks, snacks, and souvenirs.
Pheobe L — Google review
Grey Towers National Historic Site is a remarkable historic site located in Milford, PA. Here you can both walk the grounds or take a tour of the mansion. It is easy to be impressed by the grandeur of the mansion and the surrounding gardens and scenery. Grey Towers was built in 1886 by James Pinchot, who was a philanthropist and businessman. As with many Gilded Age mansions the designer of this mansion was Richard Morris Hunt. After James died in 1908, his son Gifford who was head of the US Forest Service and then a governor of Pennsylvania lived here. Most of the sites and exhibits on the grounds and in the mansion are dedicated to Gifford’s efforts as a leading conservationist of his time. Tours of the mansion are self guided and the docents inside can answer all of your questions. Inside you will see the opulence of the Gilded Age reflected in each room. Some of the best rooms in the house are the ballroom and library. On the mansion tour you will only see the bottom floors. The top floors can be seen only when the house is decorated for the Christmas holiday. When walking outdoors there are many sites to see. Be sure to view the conical towers on the mansion when seeing it from the outside. The Finger Bowl, an outdoor dining area, is probably one of the most unique things outside. The Letterbox and the Bait Box are also unique. The Bait Box was originally a playhouse for Gifford Pinchot’s son, and is today used as a small amphitheater where a movie about Grey Towers is shown. The cemetery is an interesting piece of history located here as well. The estate also offers walking/hiking trails around the estate. Mansion tours are done only a few days each week from May-October. To get a mansion tour you will have to purchase a ticket at the gift shop or “Letter Box” near the mansion. You will have to check the website for hours and when tours of the mansion are available. Grey Towers is a unique place to learn about the history of conservation and see a remarkable Gilded Age estate.

Plattekill Mountain

Ski resort
Nature & Parks
Family-oriented ski mountain with 35+ trails & tubing hills, plus scenic lift rides & summer biking.
Simply put, this is my favorite mountain. A truly independent, family-run mountain combined with legitimate terrain of all levels, including the best steeps in the Catskills. It's a place you want to be at, and as you potentially drive by other ski mountains to get here, you'll be glad you did. The skiing is great! Plattekill often gets snow that doesn't make it further east or south. Zero pretentiousness with all the homey vibes I want...wood fire on the patio, good food in the lodge, faces that become familiar after a couple of visits. Excellent ski school instructors & rental shop, awesome lifties, solid snow-making, and top-notch ski patrol. Oh, and the upstairs bar is fantastic.

Plattekill Mountain is a great family owned and operated ski resort. They have some good steeps, tree runs, and long winding cruisers. Mountain access is served by one triple and one double chair. Classic lodge with a great fireplace, cafeteria, n pro shop on the lower level. The bar is upstairs. I go there for the Standing Sideways Plattekill Takeover. A fundraising event for the Live Like Brent Foundation. Snowboards n snow skates only. Look forward to it every year.

Small mountain with a big family feel. We went tubing and the staff was amazing. The hills were well groomed and the whole experience was excellent! We went to the 10:30 session and it wasn’t super crowded which was amazing. We got to go down as much as we wanted. When we finished, we went into the lodge and sat next to a roaring wood fire to thaw out. Definitely will be back!

We have enjoyed skiing and snowboarding at Plattekill Mountain, a small independent ski center reminiscent of the many small ski centers that we used to ski at in the 70’s-80’s. There are not too many places like this that are still left and we like to support these places. There is a good variety of slopes for all levels and they have very good snow making and trail grooming operation. We ski during the week, we have never had to wait in line for the two chair lifts that operate smoothly and reliably. Their lift ticket and equipment rentals are priced reasonably compared to some of the other larger ski centers in the area.

I recently visited Plattekill Mountain Ski Resort on their opening day with a group of 8 girlfriends, and it was such a memorable experience! The snow was still being made, but that didn’t dampen our fun one bit. One of my friends took a snowboarding lesson, while three of us decided to try skiing. Jeff at the rentals was a superstar—he was incredibly helpful, even assisting us in getting our gear on properly. His friendly and patient demeanor set a positive tone for the day. As we were finding our way around, we bumped into someone named Shawn. While it didn’t seem like he was an employee (no official uniform), he went out of his way to show us around and make our visit so enjoyable. Shawn seemed to know everyone at the resort and gave us invaluable skiing tips. He truly was the highlight of our trip! For the girls who preferred a more relaxed vibe, the bar became their hangout spot. The drinks were fantastic and surprisingly inexpensive—definitely a win! To top off our day, two of us ended up needing to be brought down the mountain by rescue, which turned out to be another highlight of the trip. We laughed the entire way down, turning what could have been a mishap into a hilarious memory. Overall, Plattekill Mountain was so much fun! The combination of helpful staff, friendly people, great drinks, and plenty of laughs made for an unforgettable day. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to return! One word of advice: avoid making errors when purchasing tickets online unless you're certain of your plans. There's a fee to make any changes, which could catch you off guard. Choose carefully to save yourself paying extra fees. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Plattekill lives up to all of the great reviews. Our day on the mountain was fantastic. The terrain offered something for everyone — steeps, groomers, glades, and switchbacks. Some jumps, knuckles, and side hits too. Along with some really fun little runs through the trees. Also, given the recent weather, the snow crew did an amazing job. Only two negatives: (1) a good chunk of the mountain was closed on our day there, but even with only 24 trails, it was still so much fun. (2) No terrain park - the features were not installed but off to the side of the listed terrain park run. Per one frequent visitor, it wasn’t set up at all this season. All in, it was a great day despite those two little disappointments. The staff were all super friendly and the mountain truly offers an incredible experience. Oh…and best part, no lines on Saturday! It also has a really festive pub. We had lunch there and it was lively and delicious too. Do me a favor if you’re reading this — only tell your close friends and loved ones about Platty. Let’s all agree not to ruin a really good thing.
Jason B — Google review
When other mountains in the Catskills are either charging an arm-and-a-leg or are sold out, Plattekill holds it down! It's quickly becoming my favorite mountain in the Catskills to ski at, and love how they keep it down to Earth. Even on a "busy" day, you are still within a few minutes walk from the lodge from the parking lots. Lift lines are at most a few minutes long, and you never have to worry about clogged up trails. On a recent day, after chasing a snow storm up the night before, my friend and I enjoyed an epic day of powder skiing at Plattekill. It begs to be explored, with so much interesting terrain and features to shred, it's a mountain with something to offer everyone from beginners to experts. Keep those tips up!
Peter F — Google review
This is my family’s favorite mountain. Small enough so that nobody gets lost. There are trails for EVERY ability. Everyone is so positive, happy and courteous. I feel like my mood is always better when I’m there. The best part, even on the busiest days, there are no lines more than 2 minutes for the lifts. The lodge gets busy during lunchtime, but there is always enough room. The lodge is great, the fire inside is always roaring during the winter and the bar has great cocktails. Their ski school, headed by Ralph (who is a gentleman) is always accommodating. They take their time to teach every person, whether it’s on a group or personal lessons. My kids LOVE the junior ski program and are thinking about the race program. They are excited every weekend to get up (EARLY) and go. All of this at prices less than the big mountains around here. It’s totally worth the 2 hour drive for us each weekend. Can’t wait for the weekends here!

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts

Concerts & Shows
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is a music and arts complex located at the historic site of the 1969 Woodstock festival. Managed by a non-profit organization, it encompasses an amphitheater, a museum, and the preserved Bindy Bazaar Trails that once served as a bustling marketplace during the festival. The center hosts various events including concerts, family programs, and food festivals against the backdrop of stunning scenery.
Bethel Woods is truly a stunning and historic concert venue, nestled in a scenic setting that brings a special energy to any show. The sound quality was excellent, and the staff inside the venue seemed well-trained and efficient, especially when it came to accommodating guests with mobility challenges. We were impressed by how seamlessly they rearranged seating to make space for wheelchairs — it felt like a well-oiled machine in that regard. However, there are a few things to be aware of before planning your visit. The venue requires a considerable amount of walking from the parking areas to the entrance, which may be difficult for guests with limited mobility or for families with young children. We parked in a field and had to navigate through two separate parking lots, which was manageable but not clearly directed. Unfortunately, we also witnessed a vehicle stuck in a hole in the field, highlighting the need for better maintenance and more active guidance from parking staff. Our seats were in Section 10, Row B — great views, but our experience was marred by an unfortunate incident. Someone in the row ahead of us vomited, which splashed onto us and our 7-year-old. Rather than removing the disruptive group, staff relocated them to better seats up front. It was incredibly frustrating to deal with the smell of alcohol and the mess with a child in tow, and we felt this situation was mishandled. Overall, Bethel Woods has a lot of potential and charm, and for healthy, mobile adults and kids who don’t mind a long walk, it’s a beautiful place to enjoy live music. With a few improvements in parking management and guest response protocol, it could offer a top-tier concert experience.

Love it here! The location is historic, the venue perfect, and the employees are so nice. Very family friendly - my now 5 year old has been coming here since he was a baby and loves the lawn. They also host kids concerts & fun festivals. Great variety of concerts all year round and excellent beer selection.

The Woodstock Bethel Center for the Arts is truly a gem! The moment you arrive, you're struck by the beauty of the grounds—peaceful, scenic, and thoughtfully maintained. The venue itself blends history, art, and nature in the most inspiring way. Whether you're attending a concert at the Pavilion, exploring the museum, or just soaking in the rich legacy of Woodstock, the entire experience feels magical. The staff is welcoming and professional, and everything is organized with care and attention to detail. The sound quality at the performances is outstanding, and the atmosphere is both relaxed and electric—a rare combination that makes every event feel special. It's not just a venue; it's a destination filled with culture, soul, and a deep sense of place. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area or looking to experience the arts in a truly iconic setting

One of the best organized museums I have ever visited. Taking you through the decade before Woodstock, the back story of the music, the planning, and enveloping you in the whole experience. So much inside information and the guides were very knowledgeable and loved to share stories!

Great venue! They definitely know what they're doing. Parking was a breeze, signage was easy to follow to the venue and the scenery was fantastic for a venue of this size. Staff was helpful and the food/drink options were plentiful. Reserve lawn chairs ahead of time I saved at least 10 minutes waiting in line. Lawn is spacious with great views of the stage. Acoustics are great. Clean bathrooms too! Overall a great experience at a no nonsense/well run venue

One of our favorite outdoor venues. They let you tailgate n pre-game without a hassle. The lot scene is fun, n changes with the performers. The grounds are beautiful, lots of food and beverage vendors inside. Sound is incredible throughout the venue. Most recently saw Neil Young n the Chrome Hearts. 79 yrs old and he crushed it. Amazing set. Loved the Woodstock reference in the Roll Another Number encore.

I’ve been going to concerts at Bethel Woods for a few years, the staff is very accommodating, polite and professional. Bathrooms are maintained nicely and there are multiple locations, if you see a line move on to the next location and you’ll be in and out. Prices for the concert souvenirs is about the same wherever you go,and they have decent food and nice selection of beverages with and without alcohol. Worth the visit. No pets allowed.
Marina D — Google review
Immaculate vibes. Even though there were tons of people there, everybody was pretty respectful of each other. The only reason I took off one star was because the lines to the bathroom were absolutely insanely long. Even the men's room! I'm talking at least a half an hour wait if not more just for the bathroom. They have some paid parking which is very expensive but as long as you don't have any issues walking, the free parking is really decent. Some people will tailgate beforehand and that's fun. The lineups are pretty great with good opening acts as well. Drinks and food are expensive but that is to be expected I suppose! There were several different tents for drinks so the lines there were not as bad.

The Museum At Bethel Woods is a captivating cultural destination located in Bethel, New York. Situated on the historic grounds of the 1969 Woodstock Music & Art Fair, this multifaceted center features an amphitheater, performing arts center, and a museum that offers diverse experiences for visitors. The museum provides a deep dive into the '60s and the iconic 1969 Woodstock festival through multimedia exhibits, artifacts from the original festival, and a movie theater.
This place is fabulous. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and really care about sharing this experience positively. The museum is stacked with history, short documentaries, and listening stations. Great visit, anytime. We happened to be going to a concert there and really made the most of our time in Bethel.

My wife and I grew up in the Woodstock generation. We weren't in the crowd of over 450,000 hippies but in the movies and music that came from those historic 3 days, we finally got there to see hallowed grounds and a great museum. Go there and understand the times and the music that brought so many people together in peace. Special thanks to Duke Devlin.

A gem of a stop. Step back in history, and learn about iconic Woodstock. The exhibits are well planned and capture the magnitude of cultural impact this music festival had. We were in a time crunch, so we had to rush through. I would plan and give yourself at least two hours to fully enjoy. Price for entry very reasonable.

This was such an awesome experience! I was too young to go to the original Woodstock, but I’ve always fantasized about being there as an adult. It took me a while, but I finally made it — and wow, it gave me chills! The grounds are beautiful, peaceful, and full of history. You can almost feel the energy of those 450,000 people who came together for peace, love, and music. The museum is fantastic — filled with stories, photos, and memories from that legendary time. If you ever get the chance, go! It’s not just a place, it’s a feeling. A walk through history that still radiates good vibes. ✌️💛🎶

Beautiful building and grounds. We had sandwiches at the Cafe before touring the museum. There was so much to read, and see. We watched some videos, viewed the memorabilia, listened to music, visited the gift shop. Came back later in the evening for the last night of the Peace, Love and Pumpkins Festival. What a great event! There were local vendors, a drone show, a very nicely decorated path, fire pits, food options. All the staff was terrific.

The building is nice. The grounds are nice BUT the Woodstock Exhibit leaves a lot to be desired. Basically its frames of the movie documentary blown up in parts and spread out throughout the Hall and its extremely grainy to booth. Maybe the younger generation might enjoy it because I doubt they've seen the movie. For everyone else from that ERA its a bust. Not to mention your paying a pretty penny to get in lol. Took me all of 5 minutes and $23.00. Decide for yourself :)

Awesome museum and grounds. Very knowledgeable staff, a few of them actually attended Woodstock in 1969. Movies were informative, lots of photos of bands that played at Woodstock. We also went to a peace, Love & Pumpkins. It was a Halloween experience of lighted up trails over 400 carved pumpkins and ghosts and ghouls. It is advertised as scary but it wasn’t. Still had a great time there was a band playing in enclosed pavilion, lots of vendors, food and drinks available for purchase. We spent the night on site in their campground. We stayed in the glamping area. Would love to come back next year for some of their summer concerts.

As a child of the 60s I had a pilgramage here on my "bucket list", which I fulfilled in October '25. The museum didn't disappoint. In addition to the expected Woodstock festival history and artifacts they do a nice job of the history of the era, e.g., political climate, race relations, Vietnam, etc. They also have a nice selection of videos of the concert and related topics. The monument overlooking and marking the concert field is half mile from the museum. There is a cafe on site selling breakfast and lunch items, beer and wine. Well worth a day outing.

Kittatinny Canoes - K-Camp

Campground
Tours
Kittatinny Canoes - K-Camp offers a variety of accommodation options, including deluxe cabins and campsites. The deluxe cabins are spacious and clean, with large bathrooms and good showers, although some guests noted that the water had a sulfur smell. The campground provides stunning views of the river, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers. Visitors can enjoy activities such as fishing and swimming in the peaceful surroundings.
We have camped here now a few times. We absolutely love the area, the grounds are clean and safe. The staff is always friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our river trip!! Perfect family getaway. Can't wait to come back again!

We booked two cabins for two nights at this campsite from 8/27/25 to 8/29/25. One of the main reasons we chose this location was because it advertised kayak rentals on-site. Unfortunately, upon check-in, we were told that kayaks were not available for rental during our stay. This was very disappointing since kayaking was a key part of our trip plans, and it forced us to travel to another campground just to rent them—causing both inconvenience and lost time. The cabins themselves were fairly plain, and while the site location was decent, nothing really stood out as special. For the price charged per cabin, we honestly expected more in terms of amenities and overall experience. At check-out on 8/29/25 at 11 AM, one of my relatives returned both cabin keys to the front desk. The rest of us remained by the cabins for just a few minutes, casually chatting about where to go for breakfast before leaving. Within five minutes, a young female staff member drove up in a golf cart and asked where we had been staying. She then told us that after check-out, guests are not allowed to linger on the property. While we understand policies must be followed, the interaction felt unnecessarily abrupt and made us feel targeted—especially since it was only minutes after officially handing over the keys. Overall, between the lack of kayak rentals, the underwhelming cabins, the high prices, and the uncomfortable experience at check-out, this stay did not meet our expectations.

I recently stayed at Luke's Landing and had a terrible experience. Despite being told that quiet hours were strictly enforced after 10pm, my group was kept awake until 4 am by neighboring campers who were playing loud music, had bright lights/car headlights facing our camp and disco lights. I was unable to find any staff on patrol or at the main office to address the issue, and the posted helpline went unanswered. I had asked the neighbors multiple times to please lower the volume and turn their lights off but to no success. To add to the disappointment, the field near our campsite was littered with deer scat. The next day, we were scheduled for a tubing trip. We were bussed out to the launch point only to be told by a participant in the water that conditions were terrible. After asking the staff what was happening, they advised that the trip was canceled due to poor river conditions. While Kittatinny did refund us for the tubing, we ended up leaving a full day early because of the overall poor experience. We were still charged for the entire stay, which I find unacceptable and unfair. I have spent over $400 on a ruined weekend and am requesting a full refund. I have attempted to contact management and am awaiting a callback The attached photos & videos were taken at 3am, I have other photos & videos that can be provided to management once they reach out.

Party central! If you are looking for a relaxing camping experience, this place is not for you. My family and I traveled almost four hours to camp here for my birthday and it was a horrible experience. There were parties occurring past 2am, super loud, both nights of our stay. The camp needs to seriously hire someone who can enforce the quiet hours on a regular basis. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting, the showers were never cleaned. There were water balloons, dirt and hair in the showers during both days of our stay. We understand it is camping but they were not cleaned at all. The shower and benches could really use some maintenance and paint as well. Would definitely never return to this campground. The two pluses were of course the creek, and the store, which has a lot of items for you to purchase.

My family just had the best experience staying at Kittatinny. We stayed in one of the cabins and it was a great experience. Having pet friendly cabins was awesome because we could bring our dogs, and everyone was so friendly. The rafting trip was so much fun and everyone was helpful along the way. We will definitely be coming back.

Wonderful Stay – Highly Recommended! My family and I had a great time here! Our cabin (#939) was very clean and comfortable. Any small issues we had were addressed immediately by Kevin Pivalo, who was extremely helpful, attentive, and efficient. He replied to my emails right away and gave clear, detailed instructions. Thanks to his excellent service, everything went smoothly. We’re already planning to book another trip soon!

We had a really great time staying on the Mountain Side for Labor Day Weekend. The stream was beautiful clear water flowing through stones and rocks loudly with several walking bridges and a driving bridge crossing it. The bathhouses were fine, only the mens showers near the playground were working and hot, both womens showers worked. There was loud partying until 3-4am a little much. Campgrounds were overflowing with happiness and good energy. Parking at your campsite, roads had some pot holes, drive with care. Come and go as you please. Trash seemed to be picked up from campsites in the mornings. Campsites all seemed to have picnic table, fire ring, and trashcan. Almost everyone was tent camping during our stay. We didnt see any animals, other than 4 vultures after everyone left. Some bugs but, less than we expected. No cell service for probably 30 minutes in every direction so plan in advance or stop at a business with wifi. Staff was nice, store was busy, had most of the things we needed.

Kevin and Vivian are truly the best! They have made planning our family reunion camping trip such a breeze. Our group has over 40 people and I thought that it was going to be hard to meet all of our needs. Needless to say they have exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be booking more trips with Kittatinny and excited to work with Kevin and Vivian on our future trips!!!

Roebling’s Delaware Aqueduct

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Bridge
This was a fun novelty to visit. There's a 24/7 informational center on the Jersey side. You can safely walk across it and there is a (relatively) easy acess to the river on the southeast (Pennsylvania) and northwest (Jersey) side, plus parking.

Enjoy the beautiful Upper Delaware Recreation while observing superior engineering. John Roebling, the civil engineer who designed the famous Brooklyn Bridge designed this Roebling Bridge the was part of the former aqueduct and canal where boats actually crossed the river from above. So many things to do along the way and when you get here. Take photos, walk, fish, water sports or just being a lunch and treat yourself to the beautiful scenery!

Really cool historical bridge and area in general! This is part of the Upper Delaware National Scenic River National Park Site. There are plenty of plaques with history and historical buildings around here. Maps are available around the paring areas alongside port-a-potties. There is plenty of parking. You can drive and walk over the bridge. Pretty views in every direction! The engineer who designed this also designed so many other cool and important bridges in American history.

Really neat historic bridge, has a small VC on one side. Can walk both sides. Several displays talk about mining, the canal, boat life, and the river.

This area is our go to place in poconos , there are so many affordable options to stay and eat by the river on both NY and PA side.

This old suspension bridge was on the way to and from Skj Big Bear. Otherwise, we won’t get a chance to admire this very interesting bridge - it is narrow and only allows one flow of traffic, one car at a time. It is a beautiful structure made of wood and metal. We were able to walk on one side of it. Gives a majestic view of the Upper Delaware River. We stopped on a weekday afternoon and we enjoyed our private time :)

Great place. Staff was friendly. Beer went down too easy! Food was yummy! Was so thrilled we were allowed to bring in our Fox Red Lab on a leash, as we were traveling all day & looking for a bite to eat. We will definitely be back.

After a day in the wilds, hiking, it was great to rest at this brewery I've heard much about from friends in Honesdale, PA. Loved seeing women in their 70s walk in with fly-fishing gear and talk. Lovely beers. Country decor. Warm vibe. Solid IPAs. Friendly staff. The grilled cheese was more bread than cheese, but it was not food we were after. I'm sure other menu items were better. Love the trout in the tank.

We love this place! Great beer, food, service and vibes. Paige was great and she made Monday night fun for my wife and I. Also the wings and drumsticks are juicy and the sauces are super flavorful! A must stop if you are in the area!

Okay- brewery. I've had better craft beers. Their on-site kitchen is convenient and okay. The garlic parm truffle fries had clumps of fresh raw garlic (which was great for garlic lovers like us), and not a lot of parmesan. The menu says shaved parm, but it was like shaker parmesan. Also stated garlic aioli drizzle, which our order was lacking. The caprese sandwich was very tasty- perfect even. The steak sandwich was okay, standard and did include the garlic aioli. They do have flights, but they don't right down what you order so it was just a guessing game on which beer you liked. Has a fish tank with trout. Loved that feature.

Great stop! The inside taproom was bustling with lots of vibe in the decorations, and both customers and staff were super friendly. I had the Pilsner, which was solid, and they had a good variety on tap—including their own on-site brewed root beer. The food menu looked tempting (the specials even included a poutine), though I didn’t have room to eat. Outside, there were picnic tables, a live band, and cornhole, which made it even more fun. I really appreciated that it’s dog-friendly both inside and out—everyone loved my pup! Conveniently located right off the freeway, and plenty of parking. This was a perfect place to stop on our way back to NYC from up north.

Beer flights offered. Food was delicious, we had the pulled pork nachos and absolutely would get those again! Atmosphere was great, and the outside sitting area was really cute and had games like corn hole and jenga. Kid/family friendly

If you’re in town and looking for great beer, food and atmosphere this is the place! Stopped in for lunch and had the poutine brisket, it was so good we went back the next day to have it again! Also recommend the general tsos cauliflower

Dog friendly, good service, plenty of outside seating. I didn't try the food but the menu looked really good, not just for a brewery. They have games outside, merch, and a fine selection of beer. Definitely worth a visit.

Wow! There are some really unkind reviews for this place. While it’s a private institution being run by one person, it’s clear that she is very knowledgeable and works hard to maintain the space. It’s a lot, please donate when you visit and please do visit! It was empty and my friend and I got the place to ourselves to see all the creatures and butterflies. The woman tells you so much about everyone and their habits, and makes sure you get to see everything before you go without missing something special! It’s definitely a gem! :)

Ok.... I admit I was skeptical when we arrived here. Nearly didn't go in due to the disarray and lack of upkeep outside. My friends and I forged ahead since we drove over an hour to get there. What I can say is, what a wonderfully delightful time we would have missed if we didn't go in. The host is an adorable timid pleasant soul who is completely knowledgeable on everything she houses there. She gives you a fake bright red flower sprayed with passion fruit gatorade to attract the butterflies to you so that you can observe them up close. Please do not try to touch or catch them. I was lucky enough to have one land on my cheek and when it flew off, it's wings delicately grazed my lips. I felt as though I'd been kissed by God. She's done this ALL herself for the love she has for these creatures and to bring peoples awareness of the beauty they bring to our lives. If I had the means $$, I'd give this lady a million and have this place restored for her. She's does more for these creatures than she does for herself. She's living HER dream and how many of us can say that? My advice is just go not expecting much, and leave with a mind filled with amazement and a heart filled with awe. ❤

There are a lot of different and exotic animals and butterflies. The place could be in better condition but it seems to me that the older lady there is the only one there taking care of the place. It is one room but I have never been to a butterfly place that was more then that.

A beautiful gem in New York. The owner had to close down and reset everything, so there is a sense that things are still getting on their feet. The house is an amazing menagerie of butterflies, birds, and other animals. It's worth every penny to just sit and watch everything unfold in front of you. If you have small children, be aware that this isn't really a play area and you will need to supervise them.

The host was such a great and informative person! No butterflies until Mother’s day, but a lot of other magnificent birds, mammals and salamanders! Also, an adorable mudskipper!
Barb S — Google review
Always peaceful to have birds and butterflies flying around while you enjoy watching them. The host let us feed a few of the birds blueberries and knew everything we asked her.

This place was amazing! I went during the low season (winter), and even then, it was incredible. There were so many birds, bunnies, and turtles. 😍
Micaelyn C — Google review
Was a nice place to bring our young daughter. Quite warm, though, so don't wear your jacket inside. Birds, turtles, toads, and butterflies roam free. Great opportunity for some cool close up photography. Best during the Summer.

Wonderful museum full of history of glass pieces made by the Dorflinger glass factory. They also walk you through the glass making process. The owner of the museum, as well at the staff, were very kind and eager to share information about the pieces and answer any questions. So cool learning about the history in this part of the Poconos!

Lots of pretty glass items from the late 1890s. Collections from Dorflinger and O'Connor. One star off because the $5 adult entry fee is cash only and we did not have cash.

Very interesting and well organized museum. We had a great time there.

A lot packed into a small museum, which used to be one of the factory buildings. The museum staff are very friendly and full of interesting information. The $5 entrance fee is way way too low for a museum of this quality! Highly highly recommend!

Wonderful little museum tucked away in the mountains of Wayne County. Located in White Mills, Pa, the Dorflinger Factory Museum brings you beautiful glass and education for both adults and children. Take in the history of the area and all that there is to see and do.

Went on an anniversary trip to the Poconos and was recommended by a gentleman to go here before we went home. So glad we did! Learned so much! I didnt realize how intriguing the history of glass could be! Everything in there is so beautiful! The Parisian room setup is absolutely stunning.

Wonderful display of crystal. Informative tour on the history of the craft with friendly staff.

It was great to go here on a rainy day and learn about the history and methods of glassmaking. The people working there were very friendly. There was TONS of beautiful glass pieces to look at, including half-finished pieces that demonstrate how they were made.
