A beautiful Connecticut State Park! The waterfalls are really stunning here. They are only a short walk from the parking lot. There is a trail with stairs you can follow up the waterfall and take in the different vantage points. I highly recommend stopping by!
George F — Google review
Stunning park. Immaculately clean and maintained. The waterfall is breathtaking, and the different deck platforms that were created off of the trail to give the visitors spectacular views are their own works of art, much like the stairs that are climbed to reach them all. The staff is so warm and welcoming, and the pride they take as stewards of this magical place shows from the well maintained trails, to the covered bridge, and the field. When we visited it was a drought, and still stunning, so I cannot imagine how it looks during more plentiful times. My only complaint is that I don't live closer to enjoy it more often.
Shannon T — Google review
This is a gorgeous state park! It's free to enter for all, and free to park if you have Connecticut plates on your car. You can see the falls from the entrance and are able to hike alongside them to the top, which is lovely! There are also lots of places to have picnics and barbecues. There are also restrooms.
Sara J — Google review
Very pretty park with a 250’ tall waterfall and a large grassy area with picnic tables. There is a long set of rock stairs that are well built with a hand rail all the way up. There are a few platforms off the stairs to see the falls.
Donna K — Google review
Very cute and beautiful part of CT. Plenty of grills and seating if you want to have a picnic. There is also hiking path there that is less than a mile long.
Jethro ( — Google review
Don't come if you think this is a good place to swim but do come if you love majestic waterfalls easy trails and cute puppers. Great for a picnic and some sun. Flushable bathrooms not really for wheelchairs.
Bree G — Google review
Beautiful little park with plenty of area for lawn games picnicking and short hike to the top of the falls. A Brooke run through the property and there may be some trout in there.

Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum

Museum
Sights & Landmarks
FDR's presidential library & former home with exhibits plus 2 wings dedicated to Eleanor Roosevelt.
A must-visit for anyone interested in American history or leadership. The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum is beautifully curated, immersive, and deeply inspiring. The exhibits bring FDR’s legacy to life—from the New Deal to World War II—using original documents, videos, and interactive displays. You also get a strong sense of Eleanor Roosevelt’s impact, which was a highlight. The grounds are peaceful and scenic, with access to the Roosevelt family home, burial site, and walking paths overlooking the Hudson Valley. It’s the first presidential library in the U.S. and still one of the best. Give yourself at least 3-4 hours to take it all in. Highly recommend for a meaningful and educational experience!
Sam S — Google review
The FDR Museum was presented beautifully—like a walk through history, highlighting the pivotal changes FDR made to create a better America. The exhibits were informative, engaging, and easy to follow, offering a powerful sense of the era. The home tour was equally impressive. It was air-conditioned and allowed us to see most of the rooms, providing a real sense of how the Roosevelts lived. Our guide did a fantastic job sharing the history, explaining key events, and thoughtfully answering every question. A wonderful experience all around and a must-visit for anyone interested in American history.
Jenn G — Google review
This is the second presidential library I've visited and it was quite an amazing experience. The historical documents and letters especially where very cool to see. The library shows the entire life and presidency of FDR. The exhibits are very detailed and lots of historic pieces are at display! Seeing FDR's desk and car were also really cool!
George F — Google review
This has been the first and so far only presidential library I have visited. I didn't know it was in ny lol but for was a new Yorker . My wife and my intentions was to visit both the house and this wonderful library. But unfortunately the house was sold out with limited access. I'm not sure if it's open now but if you never been to a presidential library and you're local this is the place to be. My wife was amazed at what a trailblazer Eleanor was and there was a guide there who was very knowledgeable and took his time explaining some of the history. Hopefully soon it will reopen if it's closed highly recommended
Dwayne W — Google review
Exceeded our expectations, our tour guide for the house was excellent and full of interesting information. The house is as it was when turned over to the NPS in 1946 and well worth tour The library has so many interesting exhibits and fascinating thing to learn I’m a history buff and discovered many new items Even the cafe is great the food was delicious and service quick and a very friendly staff Highly recommended visiting when you can we spent about 4 hours all together
Thomas G — Google review
The FDR Library and Museum is a wonderful experience. The grounds are incredibly well kept. The exhibits are extremely informative and are complimented by some wonderful real pieces of history. Plan to spend 3 hours here if you really plan on taking it all in. Would highly recommend.
Randy P — Google review
I thought I know a lot about FDR, the New Deal, the Great Depression and WW II before I visited here. I didn't. After spending 3+ hours walking through the Museum and Library, your start to appreciate how much influence FDR had globally and over the 20th century.
Matthew B — Google review
Learned a lot of good history about FDR, beautiful and well maintained grounds, architecture of the house is fantastic, and the park rangers are all knowledgeable. I appreciate NPS protecting our heritage and they all do a fantastic job. If you're into history, are looking for a park, into architecture or love gardens; this spot has a great variety. Worth stopping by if you're in the area.

Sights & Landmarks
The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site is an estate that was once the birthplace and residence of the 32nd President of the United States. It features a federal-style home, library, and museum that are all historically significant to the country's past. The estate has been well-maintained over time and offers visitors beautiful landscapes, stunning views, and a feeling of being in a park full of life and history.
The history of FDR is relevant today more than ever. What a spectacular national park. The home and grounds were beautifully preserved. Our guide was very knowledgeable with many stories about the former president and first lady. The little cafe has some nice food and drink options. The gift store is enormous. I would highly recommend this but you definitely need more than one day to see everything.
Cindy R — Google review
What a historic and amazing home to visit! In visiting the FDR Library I also visited his home. You have to purchase a ticket to see the inside and it is with a park ranger tour. The ranger was very informative and gave us a great history about the Roosevelts and the home. I highly recommend visiting in conjunction with the presidential library.
George F — Google review
Although the buildings were closed and unstaffed in late October due to federal closures, we visited the area and walked the grounds. Even from the exterior, we could enjoy the area — the vegetable garden, the building architecture and history, the beautiful views, and the inspiring artwork. Gratefully, there were few other visitors so we could go at our leisurely pace and spend time on the bench reflecting on how FDR and Eleanor created the government services that saved the country, even to today. An inspirational visit, it's a reminder that we have recovered from dark times before and can again.
B. W — Google review
This is the first presidential library and is well worth the visit. The park rangers are knowledgeable and answer questions with great detail and knowledge. The library, home and gift shop are all wonderful and well worth the visit. Family groups would certainly enjoy as this is a part of American history and conveys the times, life and loves of President Roosevelt's journey from child, adulthood and political career. Hyde Park and it's environs are also interesting with great food choices available. Come ... you won't be disappointed and if you have them... by all means bring your kids... you and they will learn a lot about President Roosevelt and american history!

We visited on a Friday afternoon in late June 2025. There were plenty of parking spaces in the parking lot when we arrived. There were a few that were shaded by trees but they were all taken. First thing we did was run into the info desk to get our tour tickets. it's located to the right when you enter. We got tickets for 2:30PM. There is a short film that plays in the visitor center on every hour and half hour in the auditorium. This is straight ahead. Directly to the left next to the doors when you come in is the NPS passport cancellation stamps. There are a few here and it's on a nice wooden table with glass top. If you continue to the left it's the gift shop (New Deal Store) and it's a pretty big one. The bathrooms are to the right behind the information desk. Also that's where the restaurant/cafeteria is and is called Uncle Sam's Canteen. To get to the site where the house tour begins, you walk out to the left and walk down the path pass the presidential library. and then veer off to the right to the stables or horse barn area. You meet for your tour there and our kids sat on some benches here to work on their junior range books they picked up at the info desk. The ranger giving the tour will start here and then walk everyone over to the house where you enter through the front doors. You can look around while they are talking, which is what I did to take pictures before the masses started running around. I found the main floor to be much more interesting than the upstairs floor which is mainly bedrooms. The rangers will gather everyone up and move everyone to the next floor together. You exit from the second floor out the back where they have makeshift metal stairs put in that take you down and around the back and side of the house and throws you back out front. Sadly we were behind schedule and didn't really have much time to explore much more of the property. We went straight back to the visitor center to turn in our junior ranger booklets and got the badges and left for Eleanor Roosevelts House at Val-Kil just down the street. Overall it was a great place to visit. There was so much more we could've done here and explored. I think if we were ever int he area again we would visit. We only had about an hour to explore the entire site and we did not plan enough time.
David L — Google review
Due to the government shut down, I could not go inside. It is what it is! I was able to walk the grounds and there was plenty of self information displays. You still got a feel for FDR live style. I walked the 2.5 mile wooded trail from his home to the Vanderbilt estate but that was closed too

The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site in Hyde Park, NY, preserves Springwood, the lifelong home and final resting place of FDR, the greatest president of modern times. The Colonial Revival mansion reflects his legacy with personal collections and a serene estate, inspiring visitors with its intimate connection to this iconic leader.

It's very impressive place. The house has been preserved so carefully. It really transports you back to that time and you realize what a powerful background the Roosevelt family had… It’s definitely worth a visit.

The Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site is a remarkable 181-acre estate that serves as a tribute to one of America's most influential First Ladies. Nestled in the serene landscape, this site features Val-Kill Cottage, along with the Stone Cottage and a two-story building that once housed Val-Kill Industries. Visitors can explore beautifully maintained gardens, scenic trails, and tranquil ponds while learning about Eleanor's unique upbringing and her impactful life dedicated to social justice.
Val-Kill is packed with history. I enjoyed opening the drawers in the museum. There's a lot of them. The gardens were very impressive. While there is handicap parking, don't think you're going to get out of a long walk.

Eleanor Roosevelt's home is an amazing place. The ranger doing the tour was so very informative! I had no idea how well liked Eleanor was and that she was a civil rights leader. I will do more research to learn more about that amazing first lady!
Vicki R — Google review
The home captures ER’s warmth and humility. The exhibits and tour display her life truthfully, highlighting her positive effect on the world through her work as FDR’s partner and on her own after his death. The Park Rangers clearly admired ER and spoke intelligently about her life as a wife, mother, friend, wife, politician stateswoman, civil rights leader and pioneer.

We visited on a late Friday afternoon in late June 2025. We arrived right around 5PM so everything had just closed and we missed doing the tour and the exhibits in the visitor center etc. We did see folks leaving from the last tour. There were about 15 spaces in the parking lot and majority of the spots were filled. The parking lot is a bit of a walk to the visitor center. You have to walk over a bridge to actually get to the property. There were a couple of outdoor exhibits that we looked at and also read the kiosk signs and walk around the property in general. We were sad we didn't make it in time for the last tour at 4PM. We were delayed from the house tour at Franklin D. Roosevelts House just up the road. We were able to walk around and take a bunch of pictures. The lighting at the time of day was just getting good. We walked through the gardens and you could see through some of the windows of the houses. The bathrooms were still open when we visited after the visitor center was closed. It looks like they converted the garage into public restrooms. I think I heard one of the rangers saying that there is no gift shop here and it is all located at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Historic Site. Luckily for us we had already bought everything we wanted while we were there. Overall it was a nice property and I wish we had arrived sooner to walk through the visitor center and look at the houses.
David L — Google review
Great chance to get a glimpse into the life of Eleanor Roosevelt beyond what she is generally known for, which is being FDR's wife. She led such a full life and did so many things for so many people, it's great that this historic site exists so you can learn about it. It's even better that it's free! Plus, if you spend some time there, you will realize why Eleanor found this to be her happy place where she found peace and contentment.
Ari A — Google review
Unfortunately the homes were closed on a Monday. Free national parks day and they were closed. However, they're always closed on Mondays was a disappointment. The grounds are beautiful
Teresa M — Google review
Didn’t plan to become an Eleanor fan but the tour guide’s love and admiration for her converted us! The calming landscape is gorgeous. Best place for a relaxing day!
M H — Google review
Arrived after 5 pm so we missed any of the possible tours but still enjoyed looking around the grounds. Lots of history associated with the Roosevelts here. The garden was beautiful with a wide selection of plants and flowers. Didn’t hike any of the trails due to the lateness of the day but looked fun to explore.

Restaurant
Bull's Bridge Inn is a historic establishment housed in a building dating back to 1762, offering classic American tavern dishes and featuring an old-fashioned bar scene. Visitors can enjoy their meals on the back patio, where accommodating servers ensure dietary needs are met. The menu includes delectable options such as baked scallops with perfectly cooked vegetables and potato, as well as a mouthwatering blue cheese burger with fries. Guests also praise the in-house fried mozzarella and delightful bread pudding.
My friends took me here for my birthday, Bulls Bridge Inn is amazing! The menu had a ton of good options and they have a good drink selection at the bar. I got the trout stuffed with crab meat on the special, probably the best meal I’ve had in awhile! The staff was very friendly and I was impressed for my first time going. I will be back in the future!
Aaron T — Google review
Delicious food and desserts in a storied establishment. Four beers on tap, and others bottled. Friendly waitstaff and full bar. Clean bathrooms and parking at two frontages. There was live Irish music during this review.
Daniel D — Google review
This local establishment is open for dinner only. It’s decidedly local with an eclectic menu, excellent service in an atmosphere that focuses on local and regional information relating to the inn and the surrounding area. We went with the NY strip and the baked cod. The strip was cooked to order and came out melt in your mouth good. The cod was lovely with the stuffing being rich but not too overpowering. We completely enjoyed our meal at this location. I am sure you will as well.
Anthony P — Google review
This is our new favorite restaurant when we’re in the area. Old-fashioned vibe, yummy food. Everything seems fresh. Burger was delicious and actually cooked as specified. Vegetables were fresh and tasty. The baked sweet potato—yum! The only thing that was just ok was the prime rib special.
Thea K — Google review
My husband and I went there tonight. Very disappointed! First the Calamari appetizer had hardly any on the plate mostly crumbs. Waitress never smiled and acted annoyed we were there. After dinner did not offer us coffee or dessert. When I told her we were interested in coffee and dessert she was annoyed. Very rude. Served us cheesecake with no fork. I had to ask for it and she was not happy. Even though we had a terrible experience we still left her $20. I never saw a waitress swipe the money so fast off our table. We have never been treated so terrible at a fine dining restaurant. We won't be back. Disgusted!!
Brenda A — Google review
My entire order was absolutely trash, 2 things out of the 10 ordered were maybe decent. What a waste of time and money on both parts. Crab cakes was crap, and covered in burnt bits. Steak sandwich was literally a slab of steak on a crap bun. Pasta dish was completely wrong and not even sauced. Haven't eaten the chicken sandwich yet. We picked this order up around 645pm on 9/12/25 someone need to reach out make this right. My wife told me to let it go, but I just can't, beyond disappointed!! I had attempted to leave other emails on the website and all got discarded.
Joe P — Google review
If I lived nearby, this would be a frequented place. Fine food, well-stocked bar, intimate lighting and seating but not so low key you won't feel like you can't have a good laugh or conversation with another patron. Attending another event, the three dishes offered - salmon, steak and chicken marsala were all well cooked. The bartender was quick and knowledgeable as she took multiple orders. Close to the scenic Bull's Bridge Inn, which brings vehicles to N.Y., they no longer serve overnight guests. There are a few different seating areas, one with a working fireplace. Open Thursday to Saturday after 5PM and 4PM on Sundays. Aged steaks and seafood is the focus of their menu along with vintage wines.

The Bulls Bridge Inn has been our favorite restaurant for years!!! My family and I love everything about it!! The ambiance is warm, friendly and lovely and we especially enjoy eating on the patio during the warmer months!! The food is the MOST DELICIOUS thanks to the great chef, and the menu has so many great choices and specials that it’s hard to decide!! When there, all the waitstaff treat you like family and always make us feel welcome! I recently had my daughter’s bridal shower there in June as I wouldn’t have had it anywhere else!! Mary the manager was beyond amazing in helping me plan a wonderful sit down luncheon with an incredible Hors d’oeuvre happy hour !! Mary also helped me every step along the way in setting up the tables for 38 ladies and even allowing us to use the yard area for decorations and gifts!! She not only helped me, she made everything so easy and seamless and fun!!! The bar selection is beyond compare and all the cocktails and wines and beers are delightful!! The shower was one that everyone raved about and they all had the most wonderful time! This was also due to Mary and the entire staff that made everyone there feel special. I would also like to thank Colleen, Mandy and Lauren who were there making this shower unforgettable with their exemplary experience!!! Everyone felt the joy and said they felt the staff treated everyone like family!! I can go on and on !!! Thank you Mary for everything!! The Bulls Bridge Inn is THE BEST and we look forward to many more wonderful times there!! Sincerely, Chris Quinn

Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park

Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
The Walkway Over the Hudson, also known as the Poughkeepsie Bridge, is a historic pedestrian walkway that spans the Hudson River, connecting Poughkeepsie and Highland. Originally built as a double track railroad bridge in 1889, it was damaged by fire in 1974 and later restored as a state historical park in 2009. At 1.
This was an amazing experience we really enjoyed riding our bikes over the entire bridge and it was nice to have vendors at each end that you could get something to drink or eat if you wished. Unfortunately the gift shop closes early so we missed that opportunity to get our souvenir as I usually like to pick up a sticker but we were told we can get those online. We were blessed with a beautiful day it was very warm but not overbearing. I was a little disappointed as I was hoping the bridge would be more decorated and not so cold looking it would have been nice if it had some hanging flowers or something like that but that might not be possible or so maybe some potted flowers that sit on the ground and flower beds or something just something to make it more appealing and warm. I enjoyed watching a large barge and tugboat go underneath the bridge as we were standing there. It was absolutely beautiful.

Great walkway over the Hudson, except for the elevator not being open to get back up to our car. Very nice views and most bikers were very considerate and going slower. Lots of walkers and restrooms on the other side were nice with AC!! Managed to walk over to the other bridge too, and did the entire loop. It was super hot and full sun so wear a hat, bring water etc.
Laura S — Google review
Beautiful walkway with spectacular views of our gorgeous Hudson Valley. I especially enjoy it during autumn with all the colors on display. It is dog friendly but not all dogs are comfortable walking over the bridge. Although the trails at either side of the walkway are green, the walkway is concrete so although you'll love the walk, your pup might be more interested in what's at either end.🙂
Debra G — Google review
Breathtaking!! It is incredible to see this bridge take on a new chapter in it's life! If you want a good walk, scenic views and get a better understanding of its history, I highly recommend that you walk this bridge. It's full of life everyday, from routine walkers and runners, to tourists looking for the perfect photo to families learning about the area together!
Naomi L — Google review
Gorgeous views over the Hudson and a great walk. 30min causal walking from one side to the other. So an hour round trip for us and our dog. The walkway closed at one point due to lightning storm but opened up shortly after and we were treated to a gorgeous view.
Tasayu T — Google review
Walkway over the Hudson is one of the most beautiful viewing vantage points on the Hudson in my opinion. We went just before dusk and the views were incredible! If you do decide to go later in the evening just remember to bring a sweatshirt or something cuz it gets kind of breezy once you get over the water. Spend the day of it and Traverse over the Mid-Hudson and walk over the Hudson and then grab something to eat in town and I'll definitely be an afternoon worth the trip.
Shawn ( — Google review
Walking on the bridge is about 10° cooler than elsewhere with the constant breeze over the Hudson River. It is incredibly beautiful and pleasant to walk the bridge. The bridge is very wide so you're not pushing past people. Bikes are allowed.
Chester L — Google review
A breathtaking view of the Hudson River and surrounding hilly region. An important note to set the destination in google map as We found it a bit confusing to reach the start of the bridge. Set the destination on Google maps as 1. Visitor Center @ the Walkway over the Hudson. (U can take elevator) 2. 84 N Water St, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601(walk along the river and take elevator) 3. 49 Parker Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 (u can directly access the start of the walkway) There are vendors at the end of the bridge to have drinks and snacks after a long walk. There is an elevator which will take you down to the riverbank if you want some good pictures keeping the bridges at the backdrop. There are restrooms at entrances and one down the elevator. We had to leave early as we visited on 4th July and they closed it at 4 pm to reopen it @6pm for fireworks. I am sure the sunset view will be breathtaking. Will visit again. Also, consider visiting Ashokan reservoir if u have some time left for the day.. Take a look at the picture where u can do payment for the parking. Remember the numbered parking lot where u parked ur car. Take a small walk and find the parking kiosk in the platform( probably track2) Visit walkway.org for more info …

Nature & Parks
Minnewaska State Park Preserve spans over 21,000 acres in the Shawangunk Mountains and boasts breathtaking views of waterfalls, three sky lakes, and 25 miles of trails ideal for hiking and biking. The park offers an assortment of territories to explore from wooded areas to rocky terrain while also featuring rock climbing opportunities. A highlight is the stunning fall foliage view that can be seen within a 15-20 minute walk.
Minnewaska State Park is about a 2-hour drive from Manhattan, and it’s completely worth it. The park has a beautiful waterfall and a stunning lake surrounded by vibrant fall colors. I did a short 30-minute trek to reach the top viewpoint instead of driving directly to the sunset spot and the view was spectacular 😍😍 The scenery from above was truly breathtaking, especially during fall. I didn’t have much time to explore the whole park, but even the little I saw was amazing. Highly recommend visiting if you love nature and want a peaceful escape from the city! 🌿🍁🏞️

This park is beautiful, it has a lake and waterfalls and multiple easy trails to walk. It also has a small beach with a lifeguard where you can swim. There is also an area for kayaking. The only thing I did not like, was the area for long distance swimmers, there is a sign that states “only members can swim”, however it doesn’t say you can’t walk in that area. My husband and I walked there and a crazy “Karen” wanted us to get out and go back to the trail. We were admiring the lake and walking and not bothering anyone. It really did not make any sense, needless to say I stayed longer just to make her enjoy her day 😂 even more, some people just act entitled and I will put them in their place if needed, but it’s not the park’s fault. After all, it is a park, and people should be allowed to explore unless otherwise posted. Aside from this incident, I would recommend this park, you will need a few visits to see everything! Also the visitor’s center staff are very friendly and helpful.

Minnewaska State Park is honestly one of my favorite places to just get away and chill. The views are unreal—think cliffs, lakes, waterfalls, and endless trees. I love hiking the trails here; every turn feels like a new adventure, and the air is so fresh. Whether I’m hanging out by the lake, snapping photos, or just taking in the scenery, it’s always super relaxing. It’s the kind of spot where you can totally unplug and just enjoy nature. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape with awesome views, you’ve gotta check this place out!

Hands-on most beautiful state park in New York has preserved the legacy of park’s founders Smiley brothers by maintaining the carriage roads and trails in excellent state. My favorite loop is to follow Castle road to Lake Awosting and return back via Hamilton road back to Minnewasca lake. Very scenic views that don’t require serious hiking effort, just slight inclines and declines. Natural beauty of Shawangunk Mountains here is supplemented by road building prowess of preserve’s founders and is the reason that we still have the park available now to thousands of daily visitors at a modest fee. Many grand historic hotels of Catskills don’t exist anymore including burnt out Cliff House and Windmere hotels previously located at shores of Lake Minnewasca till 1970s, so really glad that conservation efforts have succeeded here. New visitor center and expansive parking lots are huge improvement over park’s facilities of just six years ago.

Visited: Friday, October 24, 2025 I hiked the Castle Point Loop starting from the Upper Parking Lot. The parking lot was spacious and not crowded — definitely past the peak season — and parking was $10. The weather was a bit chilly, but the fall colors were still beautiful. At first, I took the UA trail toward Castle Point, but it was mostly gravel and not very exciting. Later I switched to the BR trail, which was better, though I hardly saw anyone the entire time — maybe fewer than five people total. The hike itself felt a bit monotonous; even on the way down, it was just gravel again, so I ended up jogging down. I remembered Gertrude’s Nose being much more interesting and scenic in comparison. I stopped by the Falls at the end, but honestly, it wasn’t something I’d go out of my way to see again. Overall, it’s a decent hike for solitude and views, but not one I’d rush to repeat — especially considering it takes around 5 hours round trip.

Oh, it's so lovely. I come down from the north, and seeing the beautifully colored autumn leaves is especially a big treat. The most basic trail around the large lake in the park is perfect for couples to come and take a light, short walk. Of course, the surrounding scenery is beautiful, needless to say. If you've done a lot of hiking, there are courses suited to different abilities, so it would be great to experience them together. The view of the park from above is truly breathtaking. The visitor center is clean, and the staff are very friendly. Even though I visited on a cloudy day, I highly recommend it to anyone nearby or within a 1-2 hour drive!

There is a lot of canopy for shade but there wasn't a lot of water coming over the falls. It was like a clogged shower head. You need to come after a rain storm. Over all it was nice, quiet, and not crowded. You can hear the sound of silence, and nature.

One of our favorite park for years. You can hike. We love trail bike riding here with the family. The views are spectacular! Worth the uphill ride. No camera can capture its actual beauty. And we love what we call “the secret lake” - Lake Awosting since it’s in the middle of seemingly nowhere. Surrounded by hills and trees. Not always open so check before you go. Perfect full day activity. Bring snacks. Every ridges and valley points are worth stopping to just soak in all that grandeur nature has to offer! Please make sure to take your trash with you as you go to preserve its beauty.

Gorgeous works of art that are very thought provoking. Each piece of art in the gallery has a plaque of what the artist Donna was thinking at the time. She also points out different things to look for in the piece which makes it interactive and fun. We had a chance to chat with her and she’s so lovely! Such a fun time can’t wait to come back and see what other beauties she makes!

So glad we were able to visit the gallery during our trip! To be honest, I was drawn first by the complimentary wine/espresso, but the experience itself exceeded my expectation. We received a warm welcome from Donna's business partner Ken when we arrived on a quiet Sunday morning - he gave us a quick tour of the gallery, showed us the print machine that can reproduce artworks on canvas, and took us to see Donna's art studio. It is not everyday you can be inside an artist's work space to witness all the creativity! As an added bonus, we saw two young deers nippling at the grass outside the studio.. Donna's paintings were very colorful and each piece has an interesting story behind. The gallery was very spacious and you can really take your time to soak in the art work with a glass of wine! Highly recommended for anyone visiting New Paltz.

Impressive, gorgeous gallery in New Paltz! I was in the area visiting friends and decided to check this place out based on their recommendation. Yes, it's a little off the beaten path, but is so worth the scenic drive! The space is vast and beautiful. I wouldn't call myself a modern art expert by any means, but was taken by the use of bold color and texture. Donna's work is joyful and full of life, so it seems fitting that the paintings have room to breathe in this spacious layout. While some galleries can seem stuck up or cold, this one is quite the opposite. Donna (and gallery manager Ken) are more than happy to give you a personal guided tour, and Donna will share the origins and inspiration for her work. Don't be intimidated if you aren't an artist or don't know much about it -- you will still enjoy this gallery!

One doesn't always have to travel far to find a hidden treasure. I have lived in Gardiner for almost 40 years and recently discovered the wonderful DM Weil Gallery on Bruynswick Rd. The space is gorgeous, the artist engaging and her work captivating. In addition to a wide array of pieces (originals and prints) available at a variety of price points she offers unique art experiences for children and adults. The idea of spending a day with the artist - lunch, wine and creative expression included - has me alerting my friends and family to my latest addition to my birthday wishlist! Bottom line whether you have lived here all your life, find yourself in the area or are looking for a day trip make your way to DM Weil Gallery.

I first visited the gallery as a guest and loved the experience since I am an artist myself. Eventually I was given the opportunity to work at the gallery for a day to help the owners out and it was amazing. i was taught how to print, take detailed pictures and edit pieces of art. I learned a lot and got to immerse myself in another artists world. I got to tour the gallery myself and it is colorful and so fun to look at. I also was allowed to see DM’s studio which was really amazing, I loved seeing the hundred tubes of paint and her pieces that were in progress. I would 100% recommend visiting the gallery. It was fun and interesting and i thoroughly enjoyed having the experience of socializing with customers and seeing the art.

So happy I discovered this place. How wonderful it is to feel like you've stumbled upon the Hudson Valley's best kept secret. My husband and I popped in not expecting to spend the rest of our afternoon at the gallery. We enjoyed wine while speaking to the artist herself (such a down to earth, inclusive artist--a rarity these days). It was such a unique experience and I can't wait to return.

We stopped by this gallery because we needed some indoor activity near New Paltz on a rainy day and then wished we had stopped anyway. This gallery of abstract art is really accessible. You don't need to know anything about art to enjoy the very colorful pieces exposed. Plus they sell reproductions making it possible for many people to purchase something and bring some art home! We were nicely welcomed, offered a cup of espresso, explained how the gallery was setup and had the opportunity to chat with the artist! I highly recommend this gallery!

A must-see. The art work is stimulating and the artist and her assistant are friendly and inviting. A great place to bring that budding artist in your family, or spend a rainy day enjoying the art work and going into town for lunch. Coming from a family of artists I can say with confidence that I would buy her artwork in a second. In fact, I think I will!

4WD, ATV & Off-Road Tours
This was our second time attending class at the Northeast Off-Road Adventures and we once again left feeling more confident and knowledgeable about how to go off-road safely without injury (as well as how to recover if stuck). Our instructors (Nate, Sam, and Alex ) were phenomenal and really helped us navigate through difficult obstacles with confidence. I would highly recommend anyone who owns a 4WD vehicle and wants to use it for what it’s built for take a class here. Thanks for another great experience guys!

My class at NORA was one of the best experiences of my life. Alex and Scott were awesome instructors. This is a 5 Star operation. I felt safe the whole time even though I was way out of my element. I can't wait to go back. I recommend NORA to anyone looking to learn about off-roading. The instruction was way way more than I expected. The class was fun, exciting and full of knowledge. Thanks guys, See you soon.

Scott and Sam as well as the rest of the NORA team are incredibly outstanding. My dad and I wanted to test the waters of having an offroading adventure and needless to say we had a BLAST. It is extremely fun and educational too. The Offroading Esentials class is what suited us most, and we really put our new to us, 2008 Lexus GX470 to the test. We started out with a short and sweet drivers meeting, which then progressed to simple maneuvers we practiced on a small course right next to the building before we hit the trails. They then showed us important driving techniques, talked about how and when to use appropriate 4WD and AWD drive modes and when to use 4WD LO, etc. My dad and I were absolutely blown away with how fun this adventure was, and how incredibly helpful the staff is. 10/10, cant wait for another adventure with NORA.

Recently purchased a new truck and wanted to learn how to use it off road - Nora absolutely delivered! The team was knowledgeable, patient and willing to do anything to make sure we had fun and were safe. Super happy that we found Scott and his team and already looking forward to more adventures with them.

My wife and I took the 4 wheel low course this past week. We couldn't have been more pleased! Sam gave us a private lesson and increased our knowledge and confidence exponentially. We feel well versed enough to go off on our own now. Both Scott and Sam were wonderful to deal with. They spent lots of time to make sure we were comfortable with things I never would have tried. I highly recommend taking a course here. In fact I'm sure we'll be back to take our adventures even further.

I found NORA when I was looking for off-road instruction with my 2022 Tacoma TRD Off-Road. There were some options closer to home but they seemed more intense than what I was looking for. NORA seemed perfect so I made the drive to New York from Virginia. I wasn't disappointed. Besides having a lot of fun with both the other drivers and the crew I gained confidence with using the 4x4 features of my vehicle. I was pleased that, although being outnumbered by Jeeps, the crew at NORA was familiar with my vehicle. I was also pleased that everything was optional. If I didn't feel comfortable with an activity with my vehicle I could skip it and choose an easier option. This was important as I wasn't planning on off-roading every weekend - I just wanted to familiarize myself with my vehicle without damaging it. Attached are photos from both days. Driving training was on the first day and recovery techniques and workshops on the second. Lots of fun both days. The area is beautiful as well. We could see the Milky Way after finishing up our Saturday night drive - an added bonus.

These guys took us on Hunter Mountain adventure. The trail itself is not hard, Wranglers & 4Runners with no lift had no problem rolling there. The views were picturesque, all these mighty machines amongst different fall colors, that's what made the trip unforgettable. The crew was super friendly, with plenty of useful tips and facts, they were ready for any scenario of the trip, great attention to details.

Barton Orchards

$$$$affordable
Farm
Picking apples & riding tractors at a working orchard with a corn maze & fruit-filled baked goods.
We went apple picking at Barton Orchards and had such a lovely day! Even though it was late in the season, there were still plenty of good apples to pick, and the trees looked beautiful against the fall colors. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, exactly what you want for a cozy autumn outing. The farm itself is well organized, with friendly staff, and lots of space to wander. We enjoyed exploring the orchard, grabbing a few treats, and just taking in the crisp fall air. It’s an easy and fun day trip that really captures the charm of the season. I’d definitely come back earlier next year to catch the peak of apple season , but even late in the year, Barton Orchards made for a perfect weekend escape. 🍎🍂

Huge place! A lot of things to do with the family and dog friendly! Has a big dog park for them to run free in. So many different apples, pumpkins, has a sunflower field and corn maze. We enjoyed it so much we will be going back next year

Barton Orchards is one of the few local places that truly brings the community together. Without spots like this, our area wouldn’t have much to do! It’s sad to see people tear down a business over prices when prices have gone up everywhere — that’s just reality. I’m a local, so I bought the season pass for $86, and it was well worth it! I went to about six different festivals this season and saved around $136 — plus, it was so nice not having to pay admission each time. As for people saying it feels “too commercial,” I think that’s unfair. If the farm offered less, people would say there’s nothing to do, and when they offer more, people say it’s too much. Personally, I love that Barton has something for everyone. You can still enjoy the traditional farm experience, grab a drink at one of the three bars, or listen to great live music in a fun outdoor atmosphere. The employees are always friendly and helpful, and the farm is full of great energy. Sure, the lines can get long during big events (hopefully that improves), but that’s to be expected when a place is popular! Overall, a great local spot worth supporting — it truly adds life to our community.

The family and I had a great time and this place is worth it. I went with my mother and father and daughter and husband. There was a lot of space for my husband and I to escape our little human and send her off with my mother for face painting while we got some hard ciders. Then there was a carousel. It was far off in the distance but the walk burned calories and the Raspberry Hard Cider made the cold air feel even colder. And that carousel had some speed. My daughter loved it. Then they had pig racing which was free and honestly the best form of entertainment. I think it was the first time i heard a baby pig scream in real life. But they were all handled with care. If you take a look at the photo they also have carnival games. Theres my Chansey with an alien. The tickets for the carnival are paid for separately. But the games are a guaranteed win unlike in other places you go to where they want to take your money and destroy children’s dreams. The woman even helped my daughter win. It was very very nice. The apple cider donuts are 10/10 because let’s be real… that’s really why you’re there. They are soft and delicious. The ice cream too! It’s a farm everything’s basically fresh and that ice cream was the softest and purest ice cream I’ve ever had. So good. They have free hayrides which we did not participate in but it looked like everyone else had fun on it. They also had goats you got to feed and chickens which my daughter enjoyed feeding them. On your way out you can grab a pumpkin and there was apple picking but that season has ended. Apple picking is also a separate charge and you have to pay for the pumpkin. It goes by LBs obviously. But if you go here you won’t be disappointed and there’s a farmers market. There was also this moonshine bbq sauce i didn’t get to buy so i implore you all to go try that and tell me how that is i was really sad about that :(. Anyways i hope you all have fun if you go and bundle up if you’re going in the colder months it’s on a mountain the airs going to be significantly colder than wherever you’re traveling from.

I definitely enjoyed it more when it had that family business feel. Prices are geared toward city salaries for sure. It seems very commercialized now. The carnival was cute and a nice touch. Even if there was just one or two kids riding they’d operate the ride so we didn’t have to stand around. All Barton and carnival staff were sweet. The gentleman at the front checking bags was very polite and pleasant. My daughter got her face painted, the lady did a beautiful job although $20 is definitely the most I’ve ever seen for face paint. They removed a lot of the things they used to have at the fun park for the little ones. The donuts are still delicious but we couldn’t afford to eat actual meals here so I can’t speak on the rest of the food. Admission at $37 a person was a killer but our youngest got in free so that was a plus. They still had Live music which was fantastic. I wish they had more animals for us to pet and view. We got there around 11 so Lines weren’t long which made it a more enjoyable experience in that aspect. Mixed feelings on our visit but our kids were happy and we got to have a family day so overall satisfied.

Expect very long lines on the weekend, but anything for pumpkins! The musical acts were very enjoyable and the pig race was fun 🏁

We had the most incredible day at the “boos and brews” event! There were activities for the whole family. We arrived early so we accomplished all the fun amenities with limited wait times. Food, beer, cider, donuts everything was delicious! Not only is there live music, there’s now a huge barn with a show every so often throughout the day and it was incredible. The haunted house was scary, the rides were so fun for all ages. Yes, it gets expensive like a fair but what isn’t this time of year? Kids under 4 are free. Definitely making this a yearly tradition.
Nikki D — Google review
Entrance fee was $37 fof adult and $25 for kids. It is ONLY to get in everything else need additional payment- APPLE picking, rides, fun park, we etc. There are rides though YOU have to pay extra it. There was a band when we visited, a haunted house and petting place. OUTSIDE ood and drINKS ARE NOT ALLOWED .. not even a water bottle like hydroflask. So be prepared for long lines on the food stand.. food available was only pizza, chicken tenders, burgers, fries, sandwich. If you and,/or your kid has any dietary restrictions or allergies , better eat before going there . No VEGaN, GLUtten - FREE, etc options. Pets are allowed inside . They have NO drinking station for dogs around the orchard except in the dog park. So on a hot day it can be problem. There are no water fountains available to get water for free and water bottles cost like $4 It's a open place to visit with other things to do aside from Apple & Pumpkin picking.

Stormville Airport Antique Show and Flea Market

Flea & Street Markets
Pretty interesting experience I had. This was my very first antique show market I had ever attended. I had been to a smaller antique store in the past in Maine but this one was different. It was so nice. They had session for antiques, they also had sessions for modern clothing’s and hoodies and winter caps since this is the session, they had different food vendors and bathrooms, and of course apple cider (hot and cold which I love) plus the famous cinnamons donuts with lots of sugar which I donot like since I don’t like cinnamon LOL. Freshly made Popcorns, sandwiches, burgers etc, African clothes, hair, mention them. You gotta go when you can. Thank me later.

The Flea Market is a good time for shoppers. I like that they offer free parking and free admission. I also think that they do a great job by having separate sections for new and antique vendors. I have noticed that many senior, religious, and civic groups bring in bus groups. The food is good and consistent with other outdoor events. The one negative is the lack of adequate numbers of portable bathrooms on the very busy days. FOR THE 2 DAY SHOWS LOOK FOR THE CLOCKMAN UNDER THE BRIGHT ORANGE TENT. IN SPOT 291 MOST OF THE TIME. Mention this review when you stop by. You will not be disappointed. Overall, two thumbs up 👍🏽 👍🏽

🌤️ Sunday strolls and vintage treasures… Today’s adventure led me to the Stormville Flea Market—a charming maze of nostalgia, creativity, and community spirit nestled in the Hudson Valley. From antique cameras and hand-carved furniture to quirky signs and homemade jams, every booth told a story. I wandered with curiosity, chatted with passionate vendors, and even found a few gems that sparked inspiration for future shoots and stories. There’s something magical about places like this—where the past meets the present, and every item has a soul. If you ever find yourself craving a little time travel (and maybe a fresh lemonade or two), this market is a must

There's a pop-up Flea Market and Antique sale here several times a year. It's fun! I went with family. Bring a knapsack, cart or just a bag. But, you'll need to carry your purchase. There are port-o-potties and food. You can make a day of it! Get your steps in too!

For the most part the place is great the venders are wonderful, as well as informative. There are THOUSANDS of shoppers here. They claime to have food trucks. That is true. Today, they had THREE food trucks for everyone!!! I just waited in line for street tacos for OVER thirty minutes. When I went to place my order and they were out of cheese. They could not make ANYTHING for my daughter, low blood sugar!! I drove six hours here and we expected food trucks when we got here!! Two genders I spoke with said that the trucks got into a disagreement with the owners and refused to come back!! Fix your website!!

Angry Orchard Cider House

$$$$affordable
Cider bar
60-acre orchard that makes & serves their own cider, plus guided tours, events & bites from an in-house kitchen.
Darrin was a fantastic tour guide! My group of 4 participated in the $25 cider tour that came with 2 tastings and we learned so much about the facility, history, and making of cider because of Darrin! He was a great storyteller and the cider was so good! I hope they continue serving the pumpkin cider next year because it was so delicious. We traveled about 1hr 20mins from New Jersey but it was worth the drive! Beautiful area with many things to do at the orchard besides the tour. The lines do get long at the food trucks sometimes but it's worth the wait!

Such a beautiful place to relax and enjoy a cider flight! I tried First Crush, Albany Post, Headless Pumpkin, and Berry Bewitched (my personal favorite — I love anything with berries!). Headless Pumpkin was the group favorite, full of cozy fall spice. The staff were super friendly, and the orchard views are just stunning. They also have several food trucks with great options — fresh-made pizza, nachos on the go, and a few other tasty quick bites. And if you’re interested in the Treehouse Tasting, I recommend reserving early — it books up fast! Perfect spot for a laid-back afternoon — highly recommend! 🍎🍂

We visited thr ciderhosue as I'm a lover of Angry Orchard cider. First coming across it in NYC, thankfully we get it in Scotland but its just not the same as it is from the ciderhouse. So when I knew our roadtrip was taking us close to here I couldn't pass the chance to visit. My Fiancée got the job of driving after I had a few samples on tour and in the treehouse and even a flight to finish it off lol. We did 2 tours on the day, which were both amazing The first being the production tour with Darrin. It was just the 2 of us on the tour which made it feel a bit more special having our own private tour, I'm so glad they didnt cancel our tour because of low numbers like most places would. We were warmly welcomed outside the production room by Darrin who had a sample for us each to try. He started to tell us the story of the cider, the orchard and much more. He was fun friendly and very informative and you can also tell he has a real passion for the cider and what he does. We were lucky enough to time it right to see them pressing some apples which he said you dont always seem on the tour. We went further into the production room and took a seat which made it feel so relaxed and less like a tour and more like sitting with a friend, learning more about cider making process and watching what was going on in the production room. He gave us a bigger sample of their seasonal pumpkin cider which to be honest I didnt think I would like but both me and my Fiancée were pleasant surprised by the taste and would highly recommend it. Darrin also then gave us a small batch sample to try which if I'm right in saying it was a cracked black lime cider which was delicious, he then showed us all the awards they have won for their cider. Overall highly recomed this tour and if you get Darrin your in for a real treat he's a true gentleman and a great tour guide. The second tour/experience of the day was the treehouse tasting. Yet again it was only 2 of us on this experience I think due to it being more out of season, so it was our own little tatsing experience. It was hosted by Cameron or Carmen sorry if I missed heard your name or got completely confused, I will blame the amazing cider that was on offer. It was the girl with the Scottish Saltire tattoo on her arm. We were welcomed at the bottom of the treehosue and was told a bit about the orchard and how the treehouse came about. It was fascinating to learn more about the orchard and the production of cider whilst sampling some different ciders some of which are only available on that tasting experience or in the tap room. The views from the treehouse over the orchard and beyond are amazing. This is a truly one of a kind experience. Our host was brilliant she was so warm, friendly and funny too. It was so good having someone who actually understood our thick Scottish accent because of her Scottish connections. We actually spent so much time with her talking about the States and Scotland it felt more like friends having a catch up over a cider rather than a paid for experience, she made the whole visit so memorable. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Fantastic tours/experiences on offer, staff were amazing and of course the cider was tasty. A must do for any Cider lover

Dog friendly outside only! Has a good truck. Long walk from the large parking lot. Lots of handicapped parking. Overall nice place to relax, but pricier than other tap rooms, which comes with the name. Ordered a flight. I had their standard and the two other people I was with were a let o customize their flights since it was slow, but it had to be what was on draft. Everything was pretty tasty. Loved that there were certain ciders on tap that aren’t out in mass quantities. Food was typical. Menu was quite small for such a large place. Had the normal pizza and a pretzel. The great lawn outside was great especially at sunset. So much seating. And beautiful with the apple fields in the back.

This place is a nice place to go if you want to be outside with friends and they do allow dogs on leash. Since it’s in the mountains, there’s a crisp breeze with the sunshine peeking through the orchard that feels amazing - bring a coat. First week of November gives you the perfect autumn foliage. The only day activities that are free are walking around the small map and trying to snag a free picnic table in the back. You can pay to have a tour however, that mostly gives you access to the treehouse, which is on elevated platform with limited seating. Their ciders are divine and they do have a gift shop that you can take some home. There are food trucks in the back however, when getting your meal it it’s best to eat it quickly or it will get cold since you’re outside in the wind. Best for when you wanna gather and sit outside and have a drink with others while your kid runs around in the small circle they provided. I recommend going after Halloween and before Thanksgiving.

I finally was able to visit again after 7 years! I can't believe every speck of the building still looks brand new and there are even more apple trees and space to enjoy indoor and out! With a variety of styles of cider this is the place for anyone who may or may not like cider or beer or wine (or pop!). Everyone working was so nice to me and helped me take my purchases out to the parking lot- bring a big bottle of cider to your holiday gathering this year- ciders that were grown here, pressed, fermented, and bottled ON SITE- you will absolutely be the talk of the table! Yes they have food too and our chef does not disappoint!

I visited angry orchard for the first time and I absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was amazing! The food was pretty good as well as their ciders ( & I’m not a cider lover but their apple crisps & berry bewitched is sooo good). I definitely recommend coming with a group of friends, it is really nice! I definitely plan to come again! :) also the customer service was great too!!

I was driving around and exploring NY, on my way to chase down another waterfall and stumbled upon this gem! 🍎 I had no idea that Angry Orchard had a cider house and tasting room 🤷🏽‍♂️ but what a really cool place. Production and orchard tours are also offered, there are food trucks on site, they have flights, glasses and bottles of new & different ciders available for purchase. You're able to sample test beers, which\was really fun! Lots of tables to chill and hang out. The also have games to keep you entertained, like corn hole and more. There's even some merch so you can take a souvenir home and make your friends jealous! If you're traveling in the area, I'd def recommend a stop!

We love this park. It is quiet, the lake is very good and clean. The parking lot has a limited space so be Early or pay your ticket in advance.
Darleni P — Google review
It’s a wonderful place filled with families enjoying life. We met people from Bangladesh, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic, all of whom were very nice. There were so many wonderful people there on Monday. The only issue we encountered was that we brought a kayak, and we had to have lunch at a different spot on the beach. This meant we had to walk a long distance from the lake to reach it. You can't be in both places at the same time, so it would be more convenient if the boat launch area were closer to the beach and the restrooms. The scenery is beautiful, with the lake nestled between the mountains, making it feel surreal.

Very nice and relaxing place to go and kayak. Very peaceful and serene location to have a picnic with family and friends.

This state park is ok. Our party was not a fan of this swimming lake to come back. Out of state vehicle $22 When the park reaches its max capacity, no one is allowed to enter. Cons: 1. Restrooms are not clean 2. Floaters are not allowed not even for small children. Children have to wear a vest or lifejacket, other devices are not permitted in the water. 3. You are not allowed to play ball in the water. 4. You are not allowed to open a portable changer since the restrooms were disgusting and we didn't want to change in there. 5. They don't have a phone number, so you can find phone numbers on the maps app or CT state park website but no one will answer that phone. 6. The bathroom is far from the front picnic areas. 7. You have to carry your garbage out where the dumpsters are (dumpsters are notbfar from the picnic area depending where you at) (state park employees pick up the garbage in bags in other state parks) Pros: 1. The water is clear, you can even see little harmless fishes swimming. 2. There are lifeguards on the site. 3. They don't allow loud music which is nice to respect everyone's space and choice of music. 4. The water is not deep, so kids are safe to swim. 5. The swimming area has a nice size, it is not small ( I've seen smaller ones) and it's not big (I've seen bigger ones) , it is OK. Overall: Our party didnt like all these restrictions that made no sense. Three stars because the swimming area is beautiful. Look at a few photos.

Beautiful park with nice beach area however the entire place is covered in jumbo bird poop. Maybe I went the wrong time of year but it was pretty gross.

Good place for walk or picnic. Their is hidden trails too, but it's so beautiful and adventurous. Love the place and trails. Good maintainance but request to the visitor: please take ur trash with u do not throw ur garbage in Nature.

This was a great day for my wife and I. Although the beach area was closed to swimming during to the pandemic, we were able to swim off shore with our kayaks. It's a beautiful lake and the scenery is amazing. Theres friendly people even including the local Turkey Vultures who just seem to like to be part of the crowd hanging out. Theres a push off docking area and grills to cook on with picnic tables and plenty of room to lay out and relax. Make sure before you swim though to check the website to see if the algae conditions are up to safe standards.
Michael D — Google review
The trails are a great workout, but it could get difficult on the white one as there is an almost vertical slope without no rails or steps. I like the purple and red ones best.

Chuang Yen Monastery

Buddhist monastery set on 225 serene acres featuring a lake, pavilions & statues, open for tours.
Chuang Yen Monastery – I’ve been coming to Chuang Yen Monastery since childhood, and it’s always been a peaceful retreat. The stunning Giant Buddha is awe-inspiring, and the serene grounds are perfect for a quiet walk or meditation. The gardens are beautifully maintained, and there’s a calming energy here that makes it a wonderful spot for reflection. Please be respectful and read the signs, as there are many people who live here and prefer their privacy. When you explore, make sure it’s with respect and consideration. Chuang Yen Monastery is a special place that feels like a sanctuary. It’s been a part of my life for so long, and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone seeking peace and tranquility. 🕊️🌿🕊️🌿

😌 This place is truly heavenly divine! The scenic drive through woods and lakes, bridges is breathtaking. The energy is peaceful and serene, making it perfect for praying and meditation. ✨️ You won't regret visiting! Amazing!🙏🏼

We came here since year 2000 with our kids when they were young. We went yesterday since COVID, and I am disappointed. The buildings are about the same, still not very well maintained. The main Buddha building smells like mold inside. We especially disappointed at the lunch, the potato were not cooked completely, too much ketchup sauce so they taste sour, and the cabbage is also not cooked so they are too hard, the second dish we had were the cucumbers but tasted bitter. They need to do better for the food as many people are going to there to enjoy the complete package of the monastery experience.
Joann L — Google review
Absolutely beautiful, peaceful monastery located deep in the backroads. The giant Buddha is amazing and worth the trip, but don’t skip out on walking the grounds.

Lovely spot, free to visit, donations welcome. Really peaceful, not too busy even in summer.
Jordan P — Google review
How fortunate. Came here on a weekday and find that this week marks the 60th anniversary of The Buddhist Association of the United States. A lot of people from all over and staying overnight at the monastery to celebrate. If you want, you can be part of the celebration. Even if you're not inclined to participate, you can still walk around the grounds to relax and take in the scenery. It's so peaceful here.

Just about 1 hour drive away from Manhattan this place offers a very different vibe. An easy walk around the compound takes you through an avenue of traditional statues, the main temple with the famous larger than life Buddha, and a small picturesque pond. There are restrooms, a small gift shop and you can also share the devotees vegetarian lunch or witness some of their ceremonies. Please review the website to see additional important visit details, learning opportunities and visitor rules.

Beautiful monastery and statues. If you come Saturday and Sunday there is $7 vegetarian lunch served from 11:30-1pm. Lovely place that bridges nature and spirituality.

Dia Beacon

Mentioned on
20 lists
Art museum
Shopping
Dia Beacon is a massive contemporary art museum located in a former Nabisco box printing factory, offering an awe-inspiring collection of modern works from the 1960s to the present day. The museum overlooks the Hudson River and features a large permanent collection by renowned artists such as Richard Serra, Louise Bourgeois, Dan Flavin, and Gerhard Richter. In addition to its permanent collection, Dia Beacon regularly hosts temporary exhibits and large-scale sculptures.
Walking into Dia Beacon feels like entering a cathedral of perception. The former Nabisco box-printing factory, bathed in diffused Hudson Valley light, holds an atmosphere where time slows down — each artwork not merely installed, but breathing within the architecture. The vast industrial volume redefines the relationship between viewer, material, and void. In one wing, Gerhard Richter’s grey mirrors dissolve the boundary between reflection and opacity. Their stillness absorbs the daylight, folding the gallery’s gridded windows into painterly illusions. Nearby, Larry Bell’s glass constructions and Robert Irwin’s scrims create corridors of uncertainty, where the viewer becomes both subject and shadow. Walking through them is like inhaling air made visible — each surface a study in the gradations of transparency, color, and self-awareness. Descending further, the visceral pull of Richard Serra’s torqued ellipses commands bodily engagement. Their curved steel walls — monumental yet tender — demand slowness. Each turn offers a recalibration of weight, balance, and sound; your footsteps become part of the sculpture’s resonance. A parallel intensity exists in Michael Heizer’s voids, massive cuts into the floor that feel like the earth exhaling inside a room. Looking down is both thrilling and unsettling, a reminder of the geological scale that art can inhabit. Elsewhere, Joseph Beuys’s vitrines, Bruce Nauman’s neon, and John Chamberlain’s crushed metal offer counterpoints — gestures of humor, ritual, and defiance. In another hall, On Kawara’s textual works anchor time as language, while Lawrence Weiner’s wall texts and On Kawara’s banners (seen overhead) reframe the act of reading as a spatial rhythm. Dia Beacon’s curatorial strength lies in restraint. It allows artworks to exist in long, unhurried conversations with each other — a rare luxury in today’s overstimulated museum culture. The light changes, the shadows migrate, and so does one’s sense of the self within the work. Leaving the museum, one carries a strange calm — as if the act of seeing had been purified into its essence: space, light, and the quiet endurance of form.
Kenneth W — Google review
Excellent collection of some big names in contemporary modern sculpture. The space alone is stunning, prime for highlighting Negative Space, and it really is mostly negative space larger pieces, which makes it easy to cover such a large building -former Nabisco factory-. My all time favorite are the Richard Serra pieces: fabulous.
Carlos L — Google review
I found the building itself to be more fascinating than the art. Definitely go when it is sunny out. It's a former Nabisco printing plant. The art was very experimental; a few pieces were cool but most of it was silly and I love modern art. If you are in the area, it's still worth a stop. I wish I could roller skate thru the building. It's that big!
K L — Google review
The gallery itself has a lot to offer, but the staff definitely needs more training. There’s no need to warn visitors not to touch the exhibits before they’ve even approached them. It comes off as unwelcoming. Also, we were rushed out repeatedly with two minutes left before closing, even though we only had two exhibits left to see. If the gallery is still open, staff should continue doing their jobs, not push visitors out prematurely.
Yuxi Y — Google review
Cool museum with lot sod varying exhibits - some of them are very interesting, others less so. Overall, definitely worth visiting if you’re in beacon and want to get some art in.
Rovik R — Google review
Nice gallery! One of the best experiences is to reach Beacon by train, from Manhattan. You have to buy the round-trip tickets at the station and kids under 12 pay very little. Returning to the gallery topic it is a must-visit for all art lovers.
Ethel P — Google review
There are many other places where you can see the works of genius artists from around the world, but this is probably the only place where artists are able to hold “solo exhibitions” without being cramped after their death. A wonderful environment.
Kubota N — Google review
Very esoteric museum. One must savor the intentions and imagination of the artist. What color is the color of the day? What color is the color of the number? Where imagination, empathy, creativity and the basic principles of interior designers are expressed in a complex... interesting place!!

Embark on the Pride of the Hudson, an 85-foot boat that offers a scenic tour through the stunning Hudson Highlands. This sightseeing cruise showcases the natural beauty of the area and includes a visit to Bannerman Island, where you can explore the historic ruins of Bannerman Castle. With narrated tours and various seating options including partial shade on top deck, front seating, and inside cabin with A/C, this adventure is perfect for history enthusiasts and photographers alike.
We had such a wonderful experience aboard the Pride of the Hudson! From start to finish, every staff member we encountered was warm, welcoming, and incredibly friendly, which made the entire experience feel so inviting and enjoyable. The views along the Hudson River were absolutely unmatched, breathtaking scenery everywhere you looked. The boat was clean, comfortable, and spacious, with plenty of room to take in the sights from both the indoor seating and the open-air deck. It was a smooth and relaxing ride, and the narration offered fascinating bits of local history without being overwhelming. Whether you’re a local or visiting the Hudson Valley, this cruise is a must-do. Highly recommend!

I'm the president of a newly formed senior group called the Sandyston Legends. For our first group trip we choose The Pride of the Hudson river cruise. We were not disappointed. Besides the weather being perfect the cruise was so relaxing and informative. Everybody in our group had a great time. The staff was great. And a special thank you to Lynn for the arrangements. We will definitely be back and we'll spread the word to other groups in our area

What a fantastic 2 hour tour on the Hudson. We wanted something fun for our wedding guests to do that were in town the day before the big event. This was the perfect activity. The crew were exceptional and even sectioned off an area for our party to have privately, which made it great for dropping off our bags and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Also, they make a killer espresso coffee with a kick on board. Forget the mimosa and get the coffee drink. Thank you for an incredibly fun time!!!!!

This was a nice simple boat trip up the Hudson River, turn around by West Point and come back down. It’s a nice simple couple hours. There is a cash snack concession. The seating was spacious both upstairs and downstairs. The crew was attentive, and the captain was informative. The narration was automated and loud enough for even handicap people to hear. This trip allows you to see many historical houses and West Point. We definitely would do this again.

We went on the pride of Hudson as part of a two week vacation To the Rockland County area. This was a fantastic way to see all the places on the eastern west side of the Hudson that we have driven past for many years. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and you could tell they love their job. Love supporting local businesses like this

Yesterday was our 2nd time on the Pride of the Hudson. Our 1st time was in August 2021. It is a really nice 2hr cruise on the beautiful Hudson River. You get to see all of the historic sights & go down to West Point & back up again. The ship is always full so go early if you want a seat but we usually wind up standing to take pics & be out of the sun when my son needs to & so then we sit downstairs for a lil bit at a table, have some drinks(you can bring your own just not alcohol) & watch the views there while listening to the narrator. They sell snacks, hot dogs & every kind of liquor & beers. It is really a great time & we will probably go back again in a year or 2 again!

We chartered the Pride of the Hudson boat for our 45th Wedding Anniversary in October, and everyone had an absolutely splendid time! The captain and crew could not have been more welcoming and helpful to the large (90+) group on board, and went out of their way to make sure everyone was doing well. As you might have guessed, some of the folks in attendance were not as young as they used to be, but with the ramps on the dock and to the ship, along with able assistance from the staff, we all got on and off board safely. The weather cooperated and we had spectacular views of the fall foliage throughout the trip. I heartily recommend this company for anyone looking to have a wonderful time cruising on the Hudson!

Storm King Art Center is a sprawling 500-acre sculpture park that is open seasonally to the public. Visitors can enjoy tram tours, bike rentals and a cafe while taking in the beauty of the grounds and sculptures. It's recommended to wear comfortable shoes as there are inclines and walks through woods like a casual hike. Bundle up on cooler days as it gets chilly fast once the sun sets, but make sure not to leave before seeing all of the art on display.
As someone who is both an art and nature lover, visiting the Storm King Art Center was an unforgettable experience. Exploring the grounds as well as the special indoor art exhibition were truly a magical experiences. The park was incredibly easy to navigate, peaceful, and full of so many different artworks that are absolutely delightful to experience. There is something here for every art lover. There are also little carts available for people to ride on throughout the park in order to get to different parts of the area quickly and efficiently, which is great. I personally walked the entire time and would recommend wearing comfy, weather appropriate shoes and clothing, as well as bringing a water bottle and a snack (they permit picnics in the park as far as I know) The bathrooms were accessible and widely available and there were tons of areas and benches to sit at. I don’t regret visiting at all and will definitely be returning.
Daisy K — Google review
I had a fabulous time at Storm King Art Center. Upon entering, one of the funniest realizations I had about the energy of the space was actually while using the entrance bathroom. You're washing your hands in outdoor sinks, overlooking the foliage and trees. It was in that instant I knew I was going to enjoy my visit. You could say that the art of Storm King is within the contents of its very own landscape as sculptures and nature collide. I intentionally chose to visit during autumn when the tress started to change colors in the leaves, having been told that the change in color affects the interpretation and experience of the sculpture. It's true! I can imagine that visiting at different times throughout the year yields unique experiences. I had so much fun walking along the path; you can also rent a bike or take a tram while you're there as well if you decide. It was nice to see the park accessible to everyone, showing consideration for the visitors who were there. I also really enjoyed basking in the colossal sculptures, but was most excited to see one of Noguchi's work near the museum. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this open air museum at least once. It's a unique experience, and as a NYC native, I appreciated being able to see large works in that capacity. I've seen many galleries and museums, but this was just something special.
Jasmine — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking place — part outdoor museum, part nature escape. The massive sculptures scattered across open fields, hills, and trees make you feel like you’re walking through a dream landscape. Every turn gives you a new perspective — some pieces look completely different depending on where you stand. I went on a clear autumn day, and the colors of the trees mixed with the giant metal and stone sculptures were just stunning. It’s quiet, peaceful, and incredibly inspiring. You do need to walk a lot (or rent bikes or use the tram), so wear comfy shoes and bring water. The park is huge — easily a half-day or full-day visit if you want to see everything. Tickets are a bit pricey, but totally worth it for the experience. Perfect for art lovers, photographers, or anyone who just wants to be surrounded by beauty and space. Tip: Go early in the day, bring a hat and water, and take your time — it’s not about rushing, it’s about letting the art and landscape unfold around you.
Ada K — Google review
Amazing location! Gorgeous in the fall with the changing leaves and mountains. Lots of walking including hills and gravel paths. It took me almost four hours of nonstop walking to see everything. Definitely take the map offered with you. The scultures were hit or miss. Some winners and some "meh." I like Grounds for Sculpture outside Newark, NJ much better. Definitely worth a stop on a beautiful day and you want to get your steps in. They do offer trams throughout the park but you will miss half the sculptures if you stick to the trams. They offer bike rentals but you have to walk them on the gravel paths which are about half of the network. There are picnic tables in one area of the park and a small cafe.
K L — Google review
I spent 6 hours here and I barely got to look through everything. This place is very cool, even without the art, the nature and the picturesque views already makes this a top tier park to bring your kids to. The art adds a striking contrast that just looks really cool. Getting around the park is pretty easy. It's a huge park, but you don't need to walk it. There is a tram that comes around and brings you to all the different locations around the park. The tram is on time pretty much down to the minute. You can also ride around on a rented bike. I personally don't recommend this. It's really expensive and you can use up a lot of time if you want to stop and look at the art. Not to mention some of the paths where bikes aren't allowed and you need to walk your bike several hundred meters. Overall, this is an amazing place. I came here twice and it still blows my mind.

Lovely grounds to spend a few hours. Recommend during foliage! $25 entry per person. Can picnic on the grounds on the grass or at the picnic tables. The Maya Lin installment can be accessed inside each month from 15th to end of the month. Very special place to visit in Hudson Valley! Lots of parking on site available.
Maria Y — Google review
I went there for a field trip when I was a child and decided to bring my teen who’s interested in art. She loved it. She didn’t love all the walking. This is great if you want to spend the day hiking up steep hills. But, also good because if you choose not to walk they offer free trams to locations throughout the property. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes that you don’t mind getting muddy or dirty if you decide to walk to each installation. We had so much fun! Now for a well deserved nap. 😂

One of the best sculpture parks in the Northeast! The grounds are very large so be prepared to walk if you want to go on your own. I recommend taking the shuttle around the park first to get your bearings and see what you might want to look at closer, they run around the park about every 1/2 hour. The area around the gift shop/gallery is one of the area you should see. Many sculptures and spectacular views! First Friday of the month is usually a free admission day, It's worth the trip!

My boyfriend and I visited the Prospector Theater to see the second Doctor Strange movie on Saturday night. This was our first visit to the theater, and we were truly blown away by so many things. First, we absolutely loved the theater’s mission to create jobs for mentally disabled adults. The staff was so clearly passionate about their jobs, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in the door. We loved that they had a cafe in addition to normal concessions, and I was not expecting them to serve alcohol! Don’t even get me started on their amazing Prospector Popcorn!! They have a great variety of flavors that are all so delicious. Truly some of the best gourmet popcorn I’ve had, which I plan on ordering online if I don’t make it back to the theater soon! Lastly, the theaters themselves were so clean and modern, and I was so comfortable throughout the movie. I will definitely make the drive again to Prospector Theater after such a fantastic experience!

Nonprofit performing arts center hosts local & national acts from musicians to comedians.
A beautiful venue and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. Photo I posted is from the 3rd row Mezzanine and the view was great. The sound system has been upgraded of course the expanded space with bar and lounge is just what this venue needed. Only caveats are cramped seating and really expensive pints at 12 dollars. Good parking. Great staff. They don't have nearly enough shows that I like so getting there is a treat.

What a GREAT place to see a show! It's a small venue (holds 500) with good sound. Doesn't matter where you sit. I've been up front and I've sat next to the soundboard. Both times were great! I'm hoping to see more bands and/or tribute (well mostly tribute bands at my age) there.

Phenomenal venue, with great shows. We went for Aloe Blacc’s performance which was exceptional, the whole crowd was involved. They have a great snack bar and drink bar with an excellent selection. Really nice place to spend an evening. The sound is very good, the seats are relatively comfortable, the staff is always kind, you can get together before the show in a decent hang out spot in the foyer... an usher even tried to seat me in the third row.... but, I went up to the balcony where I belonged. I've been going here for years, lways loved it and it's only gotten better

Woodbury Common Premium Outlets is a shopping paradise for anyone who loves top brands at great prices. The variety of stores is incredible—luxury designers, sportswear, home goods, and everything in between. The discounts are genuine, and with a little patience, you can find some amazing deals. The outlet itself is beautifully designed with an open-air village-style layout, making it enjoyable to stroll around. There are plenty of dining options and rest areas, which make long shopping days much more comfortable. Parking is extensive, though it can get busy on weekends and holidays, so it’s best to come early. It’s worth setting aside a full day here because there’s so much to explore. For visitors from New York City, the shuttle buses are very convenient. Overall, an excellent destination for serious shoppers.

If you’re in New York and you’re into shopping, this is the place to be. A return ticket is $45 via a bus and gets you access to most of the clothing and apparel big name brands. Their foodcourt is also spacious and serves great food. I’d recommend taking the 8:30am departure from NY and 3pm back from Woodbury to avoid traffic. Trip each ways is just over an hour.

I was here for the annual Brest Cancer Awareness Day and this is one of the coolest malls I’ve seen. They have many of my favorite stores/brands. I definitely enjoyed shopping around after the Brest Cancer Walk. If you’re into luxury brands, you should definitely check it out!

The outdoor setting made it feel more like a relaxing day trip than a shopping spree, with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the sunshine. The food options were also a nice surprise, with a good mix of quick bites and sit-down spots. Overall, it was a perfect shopping experience, made even better by the gorgeous weather. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun day of deals and sunshine!

Smashing place! You need to come here with your won trolley else you might end up buying one. You need patience to look through at the Nike or Lululemon store. The Coach and Michael Kors are all pretty neatly managed. I was in awe of some of the offers on display. The Brooks Brothers store was another lovely place. Clear with their offers as always.

I had an amazing experience shopping at Woodbury outlet stores. The collection is amazing and the discounts are unbelievable. It’s one of a kind experience and one must shop from these outlets. Luxury brands like Gucci, Ferragamo, Valentino, Burberry, have many options to choose from! I am coming again to shop my heart out.

First timer ! It’s a couple of hours drive for us and visited this as many of my friends suggested this place. The parking is a bit tight and I had to pay about $12 to get a premium parking … lots and lots of good shops and showroom here, but it is pricey. The best part about this outlet is the food court even within the food court. The food is pretty expensive.. I have been to Jackson premium outlets and Jersey Garden malls and this Woodbury outlet is the most expensive out of all three .. Adidas Nike showrooms were good, but not much of discounts. Lots of other shops like Kipling , polo Ralph Lauren etc .. the stuff is good but again , it looks like they UP’d the price and then give us discounts ! Overall an average premium outlet mall. 3 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️

Nature & Parks
Bear Mountain State Park, located just over the Bear Mountain Bridge from Westchester, is a lush and mountainous park offering a variety of activities for visitors. Families can enjoy the old-fashioned carousel, zoo, playground, swimming pool, and open spaces for kids to run around. Adults will appreciate the convenient picnic tables and grills.
We recently hiked up to the top of Bear Mountain, and it was such an incredible experience! The trail led us to a summit at 1,289 feet, where we were rewarded with stunning 360° views of the Hudson River, the city skyline, and the beautiful Hudson Highlands—definitely worth the climb! We brought our dog along, and he probably enjoyed it even more than we did! 🐶 The entire park is super dog-friendly, and we saw quite a few other happy pups along the way. It was great to see how welcoming the trails were for furry companions. We also walked part of the Appalachian Trail, which offered some beautiful scenery throughout the hike. Later, we explored one of the shorter one-mile loops around the lake, and the view there was just as amazing—peaceful and picturesque. Whether you’re up for a full hike or just want a relaxing nature walk, Bear Mountain has something for everyone. Highly recommend it for a fun and refreshing day outdoors!

Bear Mountain State Park is such a beautiful place to visit. The views are stunning, especially from the top, and the trails are well kept with options for both easy walks and more challenging hikes. It’s very peaceful and a great spot to relax, take photos, or have a picnic. There’s plenty of space for families, and the scenery by the lake makes it extra special. A perfect getaway from the city!
Eli V — Google review
My trip to Bear Mountain was a refreshing escape into nature. The park offers the perfect mix of outdoor activities, scenic views, and peaceful spots to just relax. The trails are well-marked and range from easy walks along the river to more challenging hikes with rewarding panoramic views at the summit. The highlight for me was the overlook from Perkins Memorial Tower—you can see the Hudson River winding through the valley, and on a clear day, even catch a glimpse of the Manhattan skyline in the distance. It’s breathtaking. The park also has a lovely lake where you can rent boats, a small zoo featuring local wildlife, and plenty of picnic areas that make it family-friendly. In the fall, the foliage is stunning, and in the winter, there’s even an ice-skating rink. Parking can get crowded on weekends, so it’s best to arrive early. Also, be sure to bring water and snacks if you plan on hiking the longer trails. Overall, Bear Mountain is a great spot for nature lovers, hikers, and anyone looking for a quick getaway from city life. I’d definitely recommend it for a day trip or even a weekend outing.
Divyesh P — Google review
I love the park. The hiking is fantastic. The paths are great. The views are spectacular. I give it a 4 because the zoo is not necessary, and it’s a bit dated. I’d like to see a nice country store there with food and beverage options. The current concessions are a bit dated and unsatisfactory. I recommend bringing your own food and beverages.

Had an amazing time at Bear Mountain State Park! The hike was a perfect mix of challenge and reward, with stunning views of the Hudson River once we reached the top. The park is well-maintained, and the atmosphere is peaceful and refreshing—great for a quick escape from city life. We enjoyed the scenic drive, the cool breeze by the lake, and even spotted a few deer along the trail. Whether you’re into hiking, relaxing by the water, or just soaking in nature, this place has something for everyone. Don’t miss out the swimming pool for 5$. Highly recommend visiting, especially during fall or early summer!
Revanth C — Google review
Parking Fee: $10.00 Well maintained trails, okay for active/well-trained dogs, and good for outdoor picnics/bbq/hot pot. We used the AllTrails app to track our progress and it took about 3.5 hours to complete the hike. The views from the highest points were beautiful. Visiting during fall has its perks as the weather is cool, the autumn foliage is in full swing, and there aren’t as many insects to watch for. *** Please beware of ticks! There were three that latched onto the corgi.

This beautiful park, located in New York State, is rich in history and features numerous statues. It’s a wonderful place to spend a few hours walking through the gardens. The pergola adds a touch of magical splendor, while the old-growth trees and vibrant flowers create a stunning spectacle. Be sure to tour the Rosen House, the former residence of the family who owned the park. You can also attend a concert at the Venetian Theater, where many famous artists have performed. Don't miss the sunken garden, filled with a variety of flowers and fauna. The entire area has a lovely Victorian charm. Beautiful! Went to see a swing band and discovered this place! It has 3 different pavilions for different types of music and gardens that have a lot of statutes that all have different types of sounds. Plenty of parking that is free and bathrooms are clean, and a small concession stand for food . The grounds and gardens are very well kept. You can have a picnic in the picnic area.

Fantastic and relaxing place to visit. We watched a talented group of women (meditation teacher followed by a harpist and flutist) at the Sunken Garden for an hour. Then walked the numerous gorgeous gardens, with lots of places to sit dor a picnic lunch afterward. Even got to enjoy an open house self-led tour in the Rosen house.

Additionally, the establishment houses 17&O, a sustainable candle company with a brick-and-mortar location on Warwick Main Street. Guests have praised the friendly and knowledgeable staff, as well as the live music and delicious food offerings such as brick oven-style pizza, wings, and truffle fries.
Such a wonderful place! We went for a Bob Dylan show and the vibes were great. The venue is beautiful, and so many places to sit and room for kids to run around. We had the best day sitting in the grass and enjoying the music. The food and drinks are all great - with a special shout out to the Margherita pizza. The cafe and store are so well stocked. Everyone there was so nice. Just a wonderful day all around - we can’t wait to go back!

Honestly, it was a very meh experience. The wine tasting atmosphere was not inviting and very casual. The food was lacking for its price. The service wasn’t friendly and it took them a while to acknowledge us. The only thing that we liked was the wine & cider they produced.

Visited for the first time this weekend and not only was the weather perfect but the cider, wine, food and apples were amazing! Our wine steward, Dawn, was very knowledgeable and friendly! She gave us plenty of recommendations on how to mix and serve the different ciders and spirits. We were even able to take a group photo on the tractor Will definitely visit again in the spring or summer

Such a fun place to spend the day! This winery and orchard (about 1.5 hours from Jersey City or NYC) has everything — apple picking, wine tasting, food, drinks, live music, and even ice cream. We’d been here a couple of years ago and came back recently — it’s still just as great. We went at the end of September/early October, and the orchard was full of beautiful apples — red, green, super crisp and sweet. Apple picking costs $40 per bag (they give you a big one to fill), and honestly it’s worth it. We filled ours easily and the apples were top quality. The place is huge, with tons of open green space and picnic-style seating. Perfect spot to bring a blanket, relax on the grass, and enjoy some drinks. They had live music when we visited, and the whole vibe was just super chill and family-friendly. We tried a few ciders, one cocktail, and ordered pizza and a pulled pork sandwich — all tasty, a bit pricey but expected for this kind of spot (around $45 for the food). There’s also a shop where you can buy wine or cider bottles to take home — great for gifts! Overall, a perfect fall day trip. Plan to spend the whole day there — eat, drink, pick apples, and enjoy the view. Highly recommend bringing a blanket and just soaking it all in 🍎🍷

Our favourite upstate apple picking / cider drinking / whiskey tasting / fall experience. On the weekends it can get pretty busy so we opt for the Tuesday chill vibe. The tasting room is open and you can try the local ciders or whiskey. Grab some snacks from the fridge and chill in the crisp fall air and relax. They have an amazing orchard of apples with tons of varieties to pick from. Everyone is always really friendly and knowledgable about all the stuff they produce. The grounds are beautiful to roam. Easy to get to and park. Close to the town of Warwick.

Overpriced for what it is. $10 parking fee and a 15% service charge even on to-go food orders and drinks, including apple cider and sodas. Food and wine were just okay. The food and drink lines are separate, so you have to wait in long lines twice (even at 2pm) — and after ordering, we waited 35 minutes for the food to come out. It also took about 50 minutes just to find a table, which had no chairs. The portapotty bathrooms were dirty and unpleasant. Apple picking was ok, but overall it felt too expensive, crowded, and not very family-friendly.

We went on the last day this year and it did not disappoint. it was a wonderful day weather-wise and the attendees were out in full force. It truly is a magical place as we wandered from area to area. I love the little things that you stumble up and the attention to detail such as the person just sitting in the middle of the woods (pictured). I would say it is a little expensive depending on what you are looking to get, but it is by far worth it especially if you enjoy medieval things, jousting, and giant turkey legs.

Pretty awesome place. Went on the last day, and it was packed, if your in costume, I recommend preparing for a hike across the parking lot. Once inside though it feels like you walked through q portal, from mead to blacksmiths, leather workers, glass blowing hairbraiding, and whip artists. They have it all. Walked around from 12 to 6 and still don't feel like I saw everything. Lots of cool vendors and lots of Amazon scamers, and definitely pay attention to what you're buying and from who. There were a bunch of small businesses that were worth supporting. I had an amazing day with my boyfriend and definitely plan on coming back. A day well spent 💖 may your voyage be just as magical♡ if your thinking about going do it !

I'm an avid ren faire goer, and the NY faire is great. The bus from NYC is very convenient. Lots of wonderful performers, the joust is super fun, and of course a million cool vendors. Lots of games too, and not too pricey, we did knife throwing and archery both for under ten bucks. The food is good. Everything is a little pricey but that's to be expected at this kind of thing. It's best to get there early - the shows get CRAZY full in the afternoon. We arrived at noon and watched the joust, did games, and watched performances all with little to no line, no struggle finding seating, etc. Later on as we passed back through those areas the lines were super long and the performances were packed, so we were glad we did those things earlier in the day. They have porta potties all over but TBH, theyre pretty disgusting. There is one regular restroom, and the line gets long but its kept clean and IMO its worth it to just go use that one lol.

A magical place that transports you to the Renaissance era! 🎭 People in costumes, free interesting shows all day, delicious food, and great souvenirs at fair prices. Perfect for families to enjoy a whole day. ✨ Tip: wear comfy shoes and, if you can, go in costume—it makes it even more fun! Check their website, they have different activities every weekend!!! ✌️

Unique experience in upstate New York. People dress up and enjoy a medieval town. Lots of vendors, fair food and actors around the grounds. Would recommend the pub crawl. We did a vlog on YouTube leave the resort of our experience here Cheers. PS parking is a little bit of a pain as it’s like one road going in. (Pro tip- stay in left lane - it enters into the fair grounds too)
SD — Google review
This was my first visit to a ren faire ever, and the NY fair seems like as good a place as any for a first timer. The location has a nice forest vibe despite being only an hour from NYC. The layout is easy to navigate, a mixture of paved paths, dirt trails and a few footbridge. Some of the performance areas are set into the treeline so there's some steep areas. It can be hard to get a seat down in front in flat areas for the popular shows. Hopefully there is an ADA program to assist when needed. There are some permanent bathrooms with plumbing both at the entrance and inside, and the rest of the grounds has portos in many convenient locations. So what does one do at the faire? Shopping, eating, taking in performances and demos. We especially enjoyed Tiny Girl Big Show and the whip talents of Aaron Bonk. I wasn't familiar with the Pass the Hat tip solicitations at the end of each performance, so if you are in a position to tip, bring some $5s $10s & $20s (yes they specifically ask for these amounts). The largest performances are jousting and human chess. The shopping areas were hit or miss for me. Some of the merchants have reasonable pricing or at least a range of price points to shop at. Others are extremely high end - our friends spent well over $1000 at one leather shop alone. Just mentioning this so it's not a surprise to anyone shopping with a smaller purse. I like to buy gifts at events like this and I shop in a price range of $10-40 per item. In this range, I found handmade candles, small metal sculptures and ceramic sculptures, perfume oils and interesting feathers. There was a mix of handmade and import items in the clothing stores in particular, and it could be hard to tell one from the other. My only disappointment in the fair was the FOOD. I was hoping for more old fashioned menus with foods of the times. The majority of menus were popular modern or ethnic foods like smoothies, chicken nuggets, fajitas, nachos, pierogi. There was a bakery near the entrance that had a beautiful selection of pastries. The classic turkey legs didn't appeal because frankly the meat looked too pink for my taste and I didn't want to risk sickness. I'd say the most compelling lack was vegan or gluten free items. If I'd brought my vegan friend, she would have had no food choices besides a lettuce salad, pickles and a blooming onion :/ Overall I had a wonderful day and really loved taking in everyone's fun dress-up and all the peaceful happy vibes. I would definitely return but I would hope to see improvement in the food court.

We stepped back in time today at the New York Renaissance Faire on its final day — and what a perfect day it was! The sun was shining, the energy was magical, and it truly felt like entering another world. From knights and jesters to fairies and royalty, the costumes were absolutely incredible — people went all out, and it showed. The performances were top-notch, with laughter, sword fights, joust and music around every corner. A perfect way to kick off the Halloween season with some old-world charm! Until next year, Huzzah!

Masker Orchards is a family-friendly orchard offering fruit picking and fun activities for all ages. With 14 apple varieties that ripen at different times, the picking season is extended, providing ample opportunities to gather fresh produce. The orchard has been recognized as one of New York's best by Forbes and is known for its country store offering baked goods and juices.
We came with my kid's school field trip which was awesome! We got here at 10am. On a Wednesday and I couldn't believe it was still a good amount of people! However, it's late September and still 50% of good apples left..so not so bad. However, they don't really label which apples are what in some areas. The view was beautiful. The shop ran out of apple cider donuts already around 11ish am. A cold bottle of apple cider was very good after walking up and down hills carrying a heavy apple bag. Overall kids had so much fun and loved it!

I highly recommend a visit fun for the whole family very kid friendly with activities and lots to do hey rides pony rides bouncy houses.

Aaaahh… where do we begin, an exploration of insects, plants, herbs and most of all… apple heaven. They are very organized, most trees are labeled and the bags they provide you with have a map on them! A 200 acre oasis of greenery, I noticed families picnicking and having family fun while others were playing with their dogs. We picked a lot of apples and purchased their apple cider… which we also used to make delicious apple cider pancakes. Its a drive-through orchard and you can basically park in any of five parking areas within the orchard, some roads are rocky, if your car doesn’t have good ground clearance, I suggest parking by the entry, and walking your way through. As you hike up, you will notice picturesque landscapes. I had forgotten what fresh fruit tastes like until I started picking my own, it’s a world of a difference and I highly recommend it. This place is vast with apple trees and a plethora of varieties to choose from. Check out their website, you can also order online and pick up in store. So many things available for all ages.

Apple picking is our new family tradition. We never been here before. We do like that we can drive through. However, would like the roads to be a little more stable. It may have been slippery too due to the rain from the morning. They have a farm animals such as goat, horses and chickens. Kids had fun. And they have a few clean shop with many different organic products. They also have a lot of choices in food. The staff are very nice and accommodating. Would definitely recommend. And the views are breathtaking

I’ve been coming to this orchard for many years! It’s always a joy to come and see God’s creation, and relax with the family. After picking apples, you have the option to stop by the shops and get fresh products. One of my favorites is apple donuts with half a gallon of apple cider!
Boris P — Google review
We go here every year, and we greatlybenjoy picking the apples. Also like you can eat as many apples as you want. That BETTER not change... That being said, the new management leaves a lot to be desired. Some apple trees aren't labeled consistently, so unless there is a map that shows where everything is, I'd say to make an updated map, showing where every type of apple is. Also, the amount of poison ivy everywhere is ridiculous. There are pets and young children running around the orchard, who could easily touch it. I saw it in a lot of spots, including around the trees. This needs to be fixed. Some of the prices for the food is a bit much, when it's pretty bland. The donuts are fantastic, as is the apple cider. I haven't tried the brisket, ribs, or hot dogs, so those might be good. $40 for one bag is highway robbery. What if you only pick 20 apples? You're still being charged that amount??? Insanity! And we used to be able to have multiple bags! What happened? This. Needs. To. CHANGE.. FIX THESE ISSUES, or you will continue to lose service from loyal customers. P.s. I will continue to "greatlybenjoy" your orchard. 😊

Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, located at 540 N Broadway, is a sprawling 90-acre arboreal site that houses the final resting places of notable figures such as Walter Chrysler, William Avery Rockefeller, and Harry and Leona Helmsley. The cemetery also holds the grave of Washington Irving, author of 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.' This historical site includes the estate where Irving used to reside and other significant buildings like the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow.
This has to be the most beautiful Cemetery I have ever visited. They have made it extremely easy for visitors to find where they are going and have maps printed around the grounds with street names do you can find your way. If you're visiting just for the Washington Irving memorial they have signs posted for directions. There is so much more to see I would highly encourage you drive the grounds of you don't have time to walk them. Hats off to the grounds crew here as I'm sure it's a lot of work. They were immaculately maintained for the amount of foot traffic I am sure they receive here daily! Very impressive! They also have donation banks around to help fund the Cemetery! Highly recommend leaving a donation as this is a completely free attraction otherwise aside from the night tours that happen here.

When I visited the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, it had an eerie yet peaceful vibe all at once. The grounds are beautiful and filled with history, many of the tombstones date back centuries. It’s very open and spacious, perfect for exploring and taking in the atmosphere. I had a lot of fun touring it and definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys history, mystery, and a touch of the supernatural.

- this place has potential to be a really nice place to visit. It's super big and has some really cool history but I had so many issues while visiting. - first off when you pull in, there are no signs on what way you should go first which is a huge problem because most of the roads are really tight and only a single car can fit through at a time. With it being a popular cemetery to visit, this place gets super busy and everyone thinks they should have the right of way and you need to move. I had to backup so many times and other did as well and I even saw a car back into a grave trying to turn around. Whoever is in charge of this place has done a horrible job making it easy to visit while In a car. It's a mess and to be honest if your drive there i don't recommend you do that if you want to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere while waking and have time to look at everything. - no onsite parking and no parking on the side to get out and walk around other than a few random spots. - small tight roads with lots of traffic going all over the place and others getting mad and screaming at each other for them to turn around or reverse. - clean cemetery. - have a bathroom at the main entrance. - beautiful, especially around fall. - nice history and historical people buried here. - needs to be directed better for people driving through, signs need placed for what way to start and what ways not to go down. - I recommend visiting on foot not in a car.

If you are in Sleepy Hollow, do yourself the favor of visiting this beautiful place. Bonus if you take the walking tour, double bonus if it’s the night time lantern tour! That’s what my family and I did, and it was incredible! We have visited many cemeteries all over the world, and this is easily one of the most BEAUTIFUL cemeteries we’ve ever seen! From the upkeep to the architecture, truly it’s one of a kind! Nadia was our tour guide and she was absolutely AMAZING! She provided wonderful history and stories, and just a great personality overall! 10/10

Fantastic historic cemetery, home to the headless horseman of Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Last resting place for fellow Fifer Andrew Carnegie, as well as many famous names including Chrysler, Rockefeller, Astor, Helmsley, Arden as well as the Washington Irving himself. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Fantastic tour, and worth every penny which goes back into maintaining the cemetery grounds for the families and loved ones long gone. We did the historical tour and enjoyed learning from our enthusiastic guide who's natural storytelling enhanced the experience. The lanturn tour was a memorable addition and added to our enjoyment. Would love to return for the spooky tour! Thank you all for your dedication to honouring the dead and telling their stories. The cemetery is also beautiful and seems like a great place to explore during the day.

Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate, is a historic landmark located in Sleepy Hollow near Tarrytown. It was once the home of the influential Rockefeller family and offers tours of its 40-room mansion, gardens, and art collection. The estate's name means "lookout" in Dutch and lives up to it with breathtaking views of the Hudson River.
This place had a few delightful surprises!! Definitely do the upstairs/downstairs tour to see the amazing artwork. I had a fantastic tour guide; his name is Colin. Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and patient. Do get your tickets ahead of time because it's a popular place; at least it was in October. Interior photos are not allowed.

Great experience at the Kykuit Highlights Tour. This tour is about 1.5 hours and covers the first floor of the estate and outside. There are other (longer) tours that include more of the estate if you like. All tours leave from the Visitor's Center. There is a large parking lot there...but there is also some overflow parking around the corner ii needed. The overflow lot is a short walk to the Visitor's Center. The center has a large shop with lots of gifts and souvenirs. There are also some snacks and bakery-items (coffee, tea, pastries) available for purchase. There are bathrooms and the ticketing area. You check in at the ticketing area and are given a hand band. A bus (very nice and comfy) will take the tour guests from the visitor's center to the estate...the ride is about 10 minutes. The tour guide will also be on the bus offering some information throughout the ride, including information on the structures and facilities within the larger estate as you pass those by. The tour itself was great...but I can see some may want to visit the other floors of the estate, which is only included in the longer tours. Lots of information throughout the tour. They do keep the schedule pretty tight though as I noticed our tour guide checking the schedule regularly to determine how much time to spend at each room. I understand this is crucial in order to accommodate the various timed tours but it does leave little room for asking questions and some of it felt a little rushed. Photography is ONLY permitted outside of the estate. You cannot take photos inside the estate. You are taken back to the visitor's center when the tour it completed. Overall I had a great visit. I would love to return to view some of the other offerings...such as the Philipsburg Manor. All staff I encountered were friendly and helpful.

This is a very good place to visit as it is a former summer retreat of John D. Rockefeller who was first American billionaire and the founder of Standard Oil. Well maintained and a great location with awesome views. However the "classic tour" does not let you see the whole house as the upstairs of the property is still private area owned by the Rockefeller family. The tour was about 2 hour and they took the group onto a bus ride from the ticket place to the Kykuit estate house.

The tour is quite extensive and the tour guide is knowledgeable about the Rockefeller family and the many many art pieces in the home and grounds. The tour includes first floor, massive grounds, basement art gallery, and carriage garages. Parking was at Phillipsburg mansion and then take a shuttle to the mansion. Be early as the shuttle does leave at the ticket time and it was quite busy.

We did the Grand tour. Our guide, Dana, was very knowledgeable about the house and gardens. It was a drizzly day so we didn't get as much outside but additional spots were added on the inside. There are a lot of stairs. It is always fascinating learning about people from the past.

We did the standard tour which is about two hours start to finish from the visitor center at Philipsburg manor. A few things to note: You CAN have water in a sealed container, but you may not drink it inside the house. All bags will be checked before entering the main house. Photography is only allowed outside of the house on the grounds. We’ve made it a habit to take our visiting family to historic estates we have yet to visit and this weekend it was Kykuit. While the house itself is impressive, it’s complimented by the various artworks and sculptures placed throughout inside and the grounds. The two hour tour gives you a nice tour of the main floor of the house, the main grounds, and the art galleries in the basement. Then, you get a peak inside the carriage house to view the collection of classic buggies, carriages, and cars. You start at Philipsburg Manor Visitor Center and they shuttle you to the house and back. There are several moments throughout the tour that offer spots to sit for those in need.

The Rockefeller mansion. Kykuit, is an estate to behold, the bus ride up from Sleepy Hollow is fun. The house is spectacular as are the grounds. The home has a variety of different tours, with different price points. The panoramic view over the Hudson valley is truly magnificent. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ —————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

I learnt so much from this tour: Stunning views, exquisite art work: it’s nice to learn about people who’ve built America. You have to buy tickets to see this place. I was amazed that the outdoor - an orange flams and railings were made by Tiffany. Very meticulously maintained. Loved the gift shop too.

Step back in time to the 1700s at Philipsburg Manor, a colonial trading center and manor that offers hands-on demonstrations and exhibits recreating life in the mid-18th century. Once owned by European farmers under the Philipse name, this historic property spans 52,000 acres and includes a grist mill, farm, and manor house overlooking the Pocantico River.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and the house was stunning. We did the upstairs/downstairs tour which is what I was told at check in was one of the best options they have if you have the time to do it. It was about 1.5hrs and really neat! All the grounds staff are very polite and helpful. It’s a nice little get away near the city.

Wow what an amazing experience. Loved that people were dressed in period costumes but spoke as their normal selves. I had no idea slavery extended up north at one point and this tour was so eye opening. It’s also just very picturesque and lovely to walk around despite the sad history. The demonstrations were great and the first building watching the mill ACTUALLY operate and being able to buy the flour was INCREDIBLE. Will definitely return.

We visited the Manor on. Saturday for the Twilight Village Halloween show. It was fun but could’ve been better. A little expensive at $30 a person and then to buy food and drinks inside that were expensive too was a bit much. A can of cider poured in a cup was $14. Would have liked a couple more vendors. Only one food truck. We loved the fire dancers and the appearance of the horseman. I think the various costumed characters should have engaged the crowd more and even interactive performances would have been good. No cohesion . Lots of strange unrelated little improvs going on around that were a bit lame. There was a huge barn all lit with a fog machine and we thought oh boy what’s in there? Well nothing. At one point costumed characters started dancing with little kids. Seemed like they themselves weren’t sure what they should be doing. Everything was disorganized. A staff member or performer should have announced what would be happening in the barn so people know to wait for the show or leave. Overall was cute and fun but I saw lost opportunities to make it a great. Interesting bit of history that made me sad was that enslaved people worked at the mill when NY was Dutch.

The Philipsburg Manor is a former Colonial era estate and well renowned historic destination located in the village of Sleepy Hollow, New York. The Philipsburg Manor is named after Dutch born landholder, merchant and slave owner, Frederick Philipse, first Lord of the Manor and patriarch of the Philipse Family, a prominent 18th century family that owned numerous slaves and vast quantities of land stretching from lower Westchester County, New York to Putnam County, New York. During the 17th & 18th century, the Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow primarily functioned as a mill and trading complex, and the main occupants were farmers and slaves. Carefully preserved historical documents shed light on the lives of the slaves who lived and worked at Philipsburg Manor, particularly the slave, Caesar who worked in the gristmill and the slaves, Dina, Massey and Sue, whom each worked at the Philipsburg Manor House and produced butter for commercial purposes. These documents reveal the harsh realities and brutal conditions of slavery at the estate, and that the labor of enslaved people played a pivotal role in the enrichment, wealth and success of the Philipse family, none of which was shared with the slaves. In 1951, the Philipsburg Manor would be acquired by John D. Rockefeller Jr, a highly successful financier and philanthropist, specifically through his organization, Historic Hudson Valley. Today, the Philipsburg Manor is still owned and operated by the Historic Hudson Valley and is open to guests for both self-guided and guided tours. Visitors have a chance to see and explore the site’s grist mill, the mill pond, an 18th Century barn, a slave garden as well as the Philipsburg Manor House, which primarily served as a production facility and was tenanted by slaves and farmers. Due to its rich heritage and its recognition as one of the few remaining Colonial era structures, the Philipsburg Manor House is listed on the National Register Of Historic Places and is recognized as a US National Historic Landmark. In July of 2017, my wife and I had the pleasure of taking part in a guided tour of the Philipsburg Manor and our tour guide did a great job on detailing the development and rich history of the site and its occupants. We also enjoyed viewing and interacting with the costumed interpreters that discussed the chores and daily routines of those that worked at Philipsburg Manor in the 18th Century. We very much thank the Historic Hudson Valley for providing an amazing guided tour experience. In October of 2025, I brought and treated my wife and myself to another visit to the Philipsburg Manor to attend the “Twilight Village At Sleepy Hollow” a Halloween themed event that takes place from October to early November at the destination. Like our guided tour in 2017, my wife and I also very much enjoyed our experience at the Twilight Village During our visit, we had fun viewing and interacting with live storytellers and musical performers. We were in awe of the red, green and purple LED lights that were fixed on trees and houses on the estate, and the playing of ominous music and sounds, all of which produced an eerie and exciting atmosphere. One of our favorite part of the Twilight Village was the pop-up market, where guests have access to purchase unique hand made crafts and goods as well as delicious meals offered by food trucks. Our other favorite part was viewing the brief live show at the “Haunted Hollow” which pays tribute to Washington Irving’s “The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow” by featuring the appearance of Ichabod Crane, Katrina Van Tassel and the dramatic entrance of the captivating “ Headless Horseman.” After the show, guests have the opportunity to view and take a selfie alongside the “Headless Horseman, a wonderful treat that I personally took part in. My wife and I very much loved all of our visits to the Philipsburg Manor and highly recommended for everyone to stop by and explore this historic destination, whether it be for a guided tour or to attend the “Twilight Village At Sleepy Hollow” event.

Went on November 2nd , on Sunday and had a lovely time. If you like history, this museum provides a glimpse into history of the farm and area around 1750 and onwards. They have a very interesting presentation on how the moved the mill at that time

Very cool place to visit, with lots of history and interesting buildings. Unfortunately, we went on a rainy day, and they were planning to close around 3 PM because of the weather. Many areas around the buildings were flooded, and some presentations were cut short or cancelled, which was disappointing. I felt a discounted ticket might have been appropriate given the conditions. Despite the weather, it was still a neat place to explore, and we were able to get some great photos. Definitely worth a visit if the weather is better!

We tried our luck as walk-ins. Not a chance. Currently there is the whole 1700's like village at display. Galloping horse sound effects behind you, mysterious fog infront. Halloween theme as you know it, with numerous of shows and attractions such as tarot card reading, fire dancers, headless horseman show, fire pit on the main square and much more. Be sure to buy your tickets online and be on time. By the way, the gift shop stuffed with Halloween gifts. The cafe offers warm beverages, so don't get cold!

Very fun experience for all of my party! We went for the twilight at sleepy hollow experience. It had festival vibe, short performances by costumes characters and lots of music and fire pits. Some of the attractions were either over for the night by the time of our ticket, or they simply had lines too long for us to want to stand in. It was beautifully lit up at night time. We went back during the day to wait for the shuttle to the Kykuit tour and the grounds are stunning in the daylight. I wish I could have gotten a ticket for a tour during the daytime.

Lyndhurst Mansion, a 19th-century Gothic Revival estate located in Tarrytown, is situated on a sprawling 67-acre property. The mansion has been home to prominent families throughout Westchester's history, including the influential Jay Gould. Today, it serves as a museum showcasing art, artifacts, and furnishings collected by its various owners over the years. The estate offers self-guided audio tours that allow visitors to explore the house at their own pace.
The mansion was beautiful and full of amazing history and stories. Our guide Cathy was awesome, very knowledgeable and fun to listen to. The inside of the mansion was stunning, with really cool rooms and details that made you feel like you stepped back in time. But honestly, one of my favorite parts was the nature outside. The trees were massive and peaceful, the greenery all around made it feel so calm, and the rose garden was just beautiful. I could have spent hours just walking around outside. It was one of those places that feels both grand and surprisingly relaxing!

Classic mansion tour was great! This gilded age mansion has original furniture and is like stepping into the past. The grounds feel expansive but we could walk on our own without any kind of grounds tour and I don’t think we missed much. The day we went the bowling alley building was open with an interpreter there to answer questions so definitely make sure you wander down the hill! I had hoped the greenhouse would be restored since it’s on the map but it is not. The rose garden is nice but the greenhouse is just the foundations of one without any plants so don’t plan to spend much time there. But the rest of the lawn is stunningly maintained.

The Lyndhurst Mansion is simply breathtaking and a true treasure of the Hudson Valley. The Gothic Revival architecture is stunning, creating a dramatic and picturesque silhouette against the river. Walking through the estate, you immediately appreciate the incredible preservation of its opulent interiors and gorgeous grounds. Our tour offered fascinating insights into the lives of the families who resided there, making the history feel palpable and engaging. The staff were fantastic, and the views of the Hudson River from the property are spectacular. A truly unforgettable stop for history and architecture lovers alike!

Gorgeous mansion!!! Highly recommend it!!! Had an amazing time, the tour guide was such a sweet and knowledgeable lady! She answered all of my questions about the place, the history of it and the people who used to live there!! I took some amazing photos! The tour was about 1 hour and after it I walked for an other hour around the property. There is parking at the mansion, just follow the signs!

We visited during the Gothic weekend. From the gothic mansion itself to the gorgeous grounds, everything was so lovely and well organized. They have shuttle buses if you park far. Parking organized and there is also a trail if you want to walk along the Hudson. Views gorgeous in the fall. There was a gothic market and tasting room that was awesome. The Headless Horseman was also making the rounds! Everything is so well thought out and planned. The staff is so friendly and kind. An EXTRA SPECIAL THANK YOU TO JOSE AND DAVID who work on the grounds! When we went back to the car, I had a flat tire. Jose and David came to my rescue and patched it. They were tireless and went above and beyond to help. My Mom and I made it safely back to Queens thanks to them! God Bless you Jose and David! Thank you! ❤️

09/06/25 A Gothic Revival mansion in upstate New York, designed by Alexander Jackson Davis and home to Mr. Pauling, Jr., a former mayor of New York City, Mr. Merritt, who hired Davis to return and expand the home to make it a suitable, full-time residence, and finally, Mr. Gould of Gilded Age, robber baron fame. You can easily spend the entire day at Lyndhurst Mansion. Similar to Old Westbury Gardens, the grounds are meticulously maintained, and it's being preserved according to original plans and documentation from the nineteenth century. We attended as members of the Victorian Society of New York, receiving a private tour of the home with Howard Zar, who was extremely well-versed in the entire estate, gracious with his time, and incredibly accommodating to our group size. We toured Alexander Jackson Davis: Designer of Dreams, which included documents, drawings, watercolors, and surviving furniture. And while this exhibit has ended, I highly recommend any chance visitors might have in the future to see such a collection.

Beautiful property and ground. The exterior is well maintained but the rose garden and the greenhouses are in shambles. Not sure why they are not being restored. The location is beautifully situated with the Hudson River just across and there's a path to a walking trail that leads back to tarrytown.

Beautiful place by the Hudson. The tour of the house is greatly recommended. The tour guide that looks like Albert Einstein is great (sorry can’t remember his name 😁). He kept my 10 year old super engaged along the whole tour. The grounds are spectacular. But mostly important I appreciated the fact that the staff were Senior Adults sharing their knowledge.

My maternal family's pots are in Woodlawn. It's truly a magnificent cemetery, well manicured and highly secure. Would appreciate finding map online so people can get to their locations without having to stop off in the office. This would help visitors and ease up on the added workload for the staff.

I have been doing ancestry since 2006 and in late 2016 my dad gave me a billfold then I found some paperwork and finally being able to locate my great great grandmother and this is the cemetery she’s buried in. Sad part is I went in on Veterans Day 2023 and the office was closed so no one was able to help me. I was able to ask someone on the grounds if he worked there and he did not, but he gave me a map and gave me directions to the section I needed to be. I was able to locate my ancestors after one hour of looking for them because the sections are not marked with anything. If you don’t know you just don’t know because I’ve never been there in the end. I was very happy to be able to locate them. 400 acres of if you know where to go, you know where to go.

Excellent place to change your oil in a peaceful state. The tractors and the clean, well maintained Cemetery, are your only neighbors 😇 I watched my mate take care of our vehicle's oil. It didn't take long despite the heat. Everytime a car went by a beautiful cool welcoming breeze could be felt!! 🍃🌿🌲🍀 😁😁😁😍

One of the most beautiful and well-kept cemeteries I've ever stepped foot in. A number of famous people rest here for eternity, including Miles Davis (who has the largest headstone I've ever seen), Dorothy Parker, Herman Melville, Irving Berlin, and Bat Masterson. We walked through and found everyone we wanted to see to pay our respects. People do need to slow down driving through here as it is a place of reverence. We literally saw a car going too fast, hit either a pylon or gravestone, back out quickly, and kept driving. Be sensible! These are peoples' loved ones!
