Tamarack Resort

Resort hotel
Nature & Parks
Ski & Snowboard Areas
Four-season ski resort offering sophisticated accommodations, including a lodge, chalets & cottages.
An exceptional destination to enjoy activities year-round, whether in winter or summer. The area is impeccably maintained—clean, orderly, and highly secure, with numerous security cameras providing peace of mind. The lavatories are spotless and pleasantly scented, adding to the overall comfort. Various seating areas are thoughtfully arranged, offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Be sure to arrive early, as many facilities tend to close around 4 PM during certain times of the year.

Would have given 4 stars last year if I'd remembered to write a review, but this year I was delighted to find a playground and ran here to give 5 stars! It's great that the village is becoming more accessible for young ones. Love for the outdoors starts when we're small! I would like to see an even more extensive outdoor play area with seating around the edges and a coffee hut right there for parents, similar to the coffee/playground spaces in Switzerland. The mountain has gorgeous views, vibrant wildflowers this time of year (early July), and well-marked trails and crossings. I'm also thankful for ski patrol this year. I saw 4 or 5 team members on the trails and it was clear they're actively scouting for anyone who needs help. While hiking to the mid-mountain lodge and back, I slipped going downhill on some gravel and ripped up my knee a bit. Will from ski patrol handled my minor injury with skill & care. He cleaned my knee better than I would have been able to at home, and his bedside manner was excellent so it was easy to stay calm and not be too bothered by the blood & dirt cleanup. 5/5 will visit again

I want to be totally transparent here... the resort was under threat of a large forest fire and I believe the maintenance staff was working hard to protect buildings. The snow makers were running to keep humidity high. Summer trip at a winter ski resort. Lovely location and extremely nice staff. I am rating location 4 stars because it's quite a drive from Boise on a windy road, it would not be easy in the winter. 4star on rooms! This was the best designed outfitted condo I've ever stayed in! High end appliances, dishes, furniture, etc. We reserved a rom with private hot tub. It was filthy, cleaned on the morning we were checking out but still had a green slime ring. Manager gave a $150 credit. As I mentioned above, staff was super nice and dealing with fire issues. The grounds were not well maintained, gardens full of weeds. Summer rates were fair.

Been coming here for vacation off and on since 1996. First floor rooms are sld as hotel, second and third floor is all time share condos. Rooms are good size, beds are comfortable enough. Cable tv in the rooms, some rooms have 40 inch Samsung 4k tvs. Staff is professional and helpful. I highly recommend staying here.
Josh M — Google review
There for a mountain bike race. Beautiful place with a good variety of activities, food, etc.. Bike shop is not to be trusted with repairs - they were not equipped in skills or parts for this. Clean and modern resort. Bathrooms are clean. Food is expensive, as you can imagine. Great venue for a mountain bike race. Awesome trails.
Adam C — Google review
I really wish I could give Tamarack Resort a 5 star rating as our stay there was very nice. However when we got home I found we had an additional $431 charge on my credit card!! No one at Tamarack can explain what that charge is for, they say they don't have a record of it yet my credit card statement clearly says "Tamarack Lodging Co." I have called and emailed multiple people and have gotten absolutely no response!! It is very disappointing that no one has the curtesy to get back to me.
Kathy R — Google review
Incredible staff service and amenities. We were a large group and we each felt like it was personalized service. We will be returning in the warmer weather to golf and enjoy the marina.

Tamarack Resort is a beautiful Resort and the management and staff are the nicest people you'll meet. The rooms are extremely pricey but they are worth it and gorgeous. Ashley will take good care of you

Gold Fork Hot Springs

Outdoor swimming pool
Nature & Parks
Series of naturally heated pools with mineral-rich waters, tucked away amid pine forest.
The hot springs are very nice. There are 6 pools ranging in temperatures from 109 degrees to about 95 degrees. There is a sand pool great for kids with shallower water and divider safety. The road in the spring is rough so take more time driving in. They only accept cash for fees, drinks and snacks but all is very affordable.
Tom S — Google review
Absolutely stunning springs! Clean, relaxing and beautiful! The lady at the front was super sweet too! Prices increase to $15/person starting 8/1/2025! (Go closer to the end of the day…you won’t be disappointed!)
Brandy S — Google review
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!! Tucked a ways back and very serene. Marvelously kept with amazing water. Different levels of heat in the pools. My fiance and I went on a spontaneous camping trip and found this hidden gem. The restrooms were EXTREMELY well kept and clean. The woman at the counter was so sweet and made the whole experience even better.
Shae W — Google review
The thing I love about this Hot Springs the most is it’s outdoors basically sitting in the snow. There are five tubs with the top one being the hottest. I’d recommend to come in your bathing suit with a change of clothes. They are porta potties, no showers and tents so you can change. Well worth the bumpy long drive. They used to take reservations but now it’s first come first serve. Also, no kids under 12 after 4pm.
Melissa S — Google review
The hot springs are fantastic, but nobody warns you about the road during Winter 🤣 They have a small changing area and porta-johns. Go during the week as it gets rather busy during the week. 4wd required if you're going during winter months.
Rebecca D — Google review
Super chill, relaxing environment. I forgot a towel tho, wish they had some for sale. I went by myself and thoroughly enjoyed it
Jess — Google review
Recommended by a local. Absolutely beautiful. Bare bones amenities but very clean — a yurt for changing clothes, porta-potties, bring your own towels. It’s $15, not $12 like their website says, for 2 hours. Stunning forest surroundings, but we arrived just before 1:00 on a Saturday, and between 1:00 and 2:00, so many people arrived and none of them knew how to have a quiet conversation. We loved the pools but left after a little over an hour because of the crowd. Definitely will go back someday, hopefully when it’s less busy. Be prepared for the drive. Some of it is a winding dirt road.
Stephanie B — Google review
Decorated really nice for fall, such a beautiful experience. They have area rugs in the changing room. They have little rugs in the porta potties with fans blowing in a wonderful scent. I was impressed they have definitely upgraded since the time I was there last time.

Babby Farms

Sights & Landmarks
Farms
We love coming here, the kids always have a blast feeding the animals and loving on the kangaroos and goats. They have done an awesome job upgrading several of the exhibits especially in the barn. They have a nice shaded play area for the kids to play at and look like they will be adding a really fun new play area soon ! Great way to spend a few hours.
Krista H — Google review
10/10, so much fun! Enclosures are clean and animals are healthy and seem very content! Plus animals are social! The camel came over when we called him, many animals love the attention, even the ones you can’t feed. I feel like that says a lot about their care when the animals actually like people. I struggle a lot with animals in captivity, but this place just had a different feel. Happy animals make me happy. I’m adding Babby Farms to my list of places to bring friends and family when they come to visit and you should too! I can’t wait to impress my niece with the experience of PETTING a kangaroo. We went on a hot day and it was a struggle in the outdoor enclosure. Make sure to bring a hat and lots of water. Can’t decide if my favorite was those adorable otters, the super alert fruit bats flying around or Mario the Spider Monkey. Oh my word he was special. That monkey had us all falling head over heels for him.
Liz M — Google review
A great place for birthdays and large groups! We had my sons 2nd birthday there and they were amazing! Super helpful and let us rent 4 picnic tables for the day. Love that kids are free under 3 and the facility was clean, friendly staff, and a wide variety of animals. We loved that you can go into the pen with the kangaroos and pet them and you can do that with the goats as well. We all thought this was better than the Boise Zoo! We will definitely be back.
Caitlyn C — Google review
This place is great! Had family in town visiting we decided to check out babby farms. Glad we did! it was great everyone from the 2 year old to the 70 year old enjoyed it. The animals all seem well taken care of, they also all wanted to be loved on, this will be a regular stop when our family visits. We will probably come a few more times this summer. Lots of different types animals.
Stephanie I — Google review
We've visited Babby Farms many times in the last few years. The recent renovations/expansions are fantastic and the upcoming plans look great as well. They have a good variety of animals, most of which I understand are rescues. This is a special place for the kiddos in our life and they especially love being able to hand-feed the hooved animals. The animals are so cute, I think people of all ages will really enjoy visiting.
Heather J — Google review
We hosted my daughter’s 7th birthday party here! Texas, the Zookeeper/manager reserved the entire picnic area and didn’t charge us a dime! We were allowed to bring our own food and decorations. Our kids and parents loved it. So clean and interactive and you can tell the animals are well cared for and loved. Thank you for making my daughter’s birthday incredibly memorable!
Michelle T — Google review
This place is cheaper than the Boise zoo. Unlike the Boise zoo, you can interact with most of the animals here, and you can feed them. Great for kids!
Barrett L — Google review
We had such a wonderful experience at this  zoo! It was my first time ever getting to touch a kangaroo, and it was truly unforgettable. The place is so welcoming, peaceful, and family-friendly — perfect for making special memories together. The staff are kind and helpful, and you can feel how much they care about the animals. Such a great spot for families of all ages to enjoy and learn.

Came here while I was visiting my mother, very nice staff and the wine was fantastic. We can’t forget about the star of the experience, they had the sweetest dog on property! Would definitely come back if I’m in the area!

Our experience at Huston's Vineyard is always delightful. The Huston's team is welcoming, very educated on their wine, and we love the way the owners are available and gracious hosts. We love to bring our family and friends to this Vineyard.
Lori E — Google review
Absolutely enjoyed my experience here. Great wine. Jen was wonderful, she knew all about the wine and very helpful with picking the wine. Had a relaxing homey vibe to the winery.
Heather K — Google review
Huston Vineyards has become one of the most outstanding wineries in the Snake River Valley. Huston is our "go to winery" with an array of Gold and Double Gold medal winners at multiple competitions in Idaho and across the entire Pacific Northwest. Their wines are all exceptional, not to be out done by the incredible owners and their highly knowledgeable team. With great events happening year around, as a member, or even a visitor, you'll always be duly impressed. This is a FIVE STAR winery from A to Z.
Chris G — Google review
We were a group of 8 with reservations. We were basically ignored. Appeared only one server on a Saturday and they were busy. However other groups were getting treated well. The charcuterie trays, were pre-made boxes and were disgusting, soggy crackers, and everything tasted like the spicy pickles. Atmosphere and grounds were very nice. Not very user friendly for someone in a wheelchair.
Donna B — Google review
This is a cute and quaint winery, highly recommend their Chicken Dinner White wine. I was so glad I was able to purchase a convenient bag of it to take home with me in my luggage! I highly recommend this winery for a tasting and friendly staff.
S. M — Google review
Lovely place. Great wine. Great views. Super friendly people. Some insects flying around but that’s what happens when your outside. All employees were respectful of personal space and wore gloves. Very responsible during the times of CoVid 19. Wish minors had more to do and possibly juice or something to color. Again it is a great place.

Wine tasting is one of my favorite hobbies. I am a big fan of Chardonnay , unfortunately it was not ready for tasting . Usually I am not a big fan of Rose until I tried Chicken Dinner Dry Rose.... Wow, It was so refreshing , unique aroma and strong taste which I normally prefer. 🍷🍷🍷

I've been rafting with Cascade Raft & Kayak for many years, both for personal trips and business team-building—and they never disappoint! I go a few times each year, and every trip is a highlight. This time, our guide was Riley, and she was absolutely amazing. Professional, fun, and full of great energy—she made the experience even more memorable. I'm already looking forward to coming back next month! Cascade offers more than just rafting. The space itself is beautiful and relaxing. After your trip, there’s no pressure to rush off—you can lounge by the river, find a shady spot at a table, or enjoy some food and drinks. They’ve thought of everything: a gift shop, changing stations, free lockers, and fun trip photos. Every visit is smooth, safe, and full of adventure. Highly recommend!
MeeshaKeena A — Google review
We had a great time on the half day rafting trip! Our guide Bella was awesome, lots of personality and skilled in rafting! The check in process was quick and they have plenty of smart lockers for you to set your own password to use for any personal items. You can also store car keys at the front desk with the staff inside. They have changing rooms, bathrooms, and items you can buy in the store like sandals if you need and chums sunglasses straps. We had lunch from their cafe that had breakfast burritos and sandwiches. You can get chips and salsa, carrots and hummus, or pasta salad for a side. Turkey, roast beef, or ham sandwiches. The lunch will get you by if you aren't able to bring your own snacks. There is plenty of parking and it's not a bad drive out there. The rapids were not terribly difficult but were a lot of fun and good for various skill levels for the section of river we did. The guides give a lot of opportunity for sitting on the front of the raft or getting out and swimming in calm areas.
Kiki S — Google review
Easily one of the most fun things I've ever done. Our guide Eva was awesome! This is definitely something we will do at least once every year. The whole team and operation is just a good time. They are silly, sarcastic, knowledgeable and really want you to enjoy it out there as much as it seems like they do.
Khyle J — Google review
What an incredible adventure! We did the ½ day “Rush” on the Lower South Fork of Payette River and it was an absolute blast!! Our guide, Sam R, was amazing - fun, entertaining, super knowledgeable, and made everyone feel safe the whole time. The company is professional, experienced, and runs everything smoothly (and on time!). We had both first-timers and experienced rafters in our group, and everyone had an amazing time. If you’re looking for excitement, laughs, and unforgettable memories on the river—Cascade Raft & Kayak is the way to go!
Rebecca B — Google review
Such a great experience, and all the staff was awesome! My wife and I took our 10 and 6 year old daughters on the half day trip, and we all had a blast! Our guide Emmaline (sorry if I got the spelling wrong) was super nice and knowledgeable, and great with the kids. We will definitely be back for a full day trip in the future!
Daniel K — Google review
Merle was a very fun and knowledgeable guide! He initiated splash fights with the other rafts in our party, was able to tell our younger ones when it was safe to take a dip in the river, hitched a carabiner with a rope to the nose and the kids were allowed to "ride the bull" through some of the less intense rapids! This is a fun family event, we took kids ages 9 through 68 and we all enjoyed it! The attention to safety is strong before you ever hit the water, but delivered in a memorable and entertaining way, so you don't even realize it's a safety presentation. We had a different guide last year and equally enjoyed the Half-day Main Payette experience!
Tammy B — Google review
Eva was our guide - she was fun, funny, informative and super helpful. We had an amazing first experience with rafting, and will absolutely be back for more... and we're bringing friends.
Charlie C — Google review
We had so much fun on our rafting trip with Reece! We were grateful for his knowledge, energy, and humor! Would definitely book with Cascade again…next time I want more rapids so I’ll have to bump up to a higher class!!

We came in a little late, but Ann was very accommodating to us. Out of 3, we each enjoyed a different flight and had the Gourmet cheese board. Delicious food & wines. Love the option with a bottle of brut and different juices. Gorgeous views & atmosphere.
Shelly W — Google review
Loved our visit to Sawtooth and it was as great as it was the first visit. Matthew was so sweet and patient with us which made us feel welcome. We enjoyed our dip with chips along with a beautiful charcuterie board. The wine matched the treats. Matthew even treated our grandchild to fish crackers, how thoughtful. We will definitely be back.
Malissa F — Google review
Beautiful scenery, very comfortable atmosphere, and pleasant staff. Stopped in to try the mimosa flight. We really enjoyed 2 of them but weren’t really fans of the Gatorade mimosa. Tried the onion dip and really enjoyed that! They had goat yoga that morning and one of the baby goats was still there when we arrived. Super cute to see it wandering around with its little people. 🥰.
Christina B — Google review
So much fun today at Sawtooth! Had a mimosa flight and some yummy food! Atmosphere was awesome... good music and fantastic views! Liz was our server and was fantastic! Loved her wine earings and kindness! We will be back again!!
Precilla S — Google review
We had such a wonderful experience at the winery thanks to our server Liz! From the moment we arrived, they were warm, attentive, and knowledgeable about all the wines. They took the time to explain each tasting in a way that was both fun and informative, and their recommendations were spot on. They made us feel so welcome, checked in just the right amount, and made the whole experience feel extra special. It’s clear they genuinely enjoy what they do, and it really elevated our visit. Highly recommend asking for her if you stop by! 🍷✨

Really good big red wines. Great views as well. Best we have had in the Sunnyslope area. Liz was great waiter & help as well.

Always 5 star service!! I have been coming for a while now as apart of the mimosa club and today was especially amazing. The staff is always informative and helpful, the mimosas are delicious, and the view is impeccable! Today Liz really took it above and beyond! Thank you for always making our girl time 10/10!

We're so glad we found this amazing winery that's only six miles from home. When we first started coming to the winery it was in the little house that now the Airbnb. We love it so much we bring almost everyone who visits with us here for wine tasting and a meal. The wines excellent, the food fabulous and the atmosphere is welcoming. You won't have a better experience at any winery, and I've been to a lot. Go try it out, you won't be disappointed.
Paul J — Google review
The view was amazing! Food was great, service was good, but we waited for quite a while for our food, utensils, ranch, and refills. The waitress apologized for the wait for our food, but nothing was done to compensate, where she offered the table next to us a free dessert, we simply had to do. May go back, but will try on a weekend that may not be as busy.
Niky R — Google review
We came in with friends last week and are so glad to have found this winery. They have a nice selection of estate grown wines. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. Lilly lead our tasting and answered all our questions about the property and their wines. The restaurant portion felt unique for a winery and the menu was well thought out. We showed up on a day with live music on the patio. This winery checks all the boxes; cool location, smart staff, good wine, and enjoyable setting. We'll definitely be back
John R — Google review
One of the most incredible “Estate Wineries” I’ve ever had the pleasure of frequenting. Not only the best wines in Idaho, but their full service kitchen rates amount the best in the Treasure Valley. We are there on a regular basis. Staff is amazing and the owners put on some amazing events.
Chris G — Google review
Food selection better than it was a year ago. And the price for a burger and fries has DROPPED. Yes it's now $18 for the burger and only $1 for the fries. A year ago it was $24 for the combo. Now all they have to do is to allow more than one refill on the tea. Ok I'm not into wine and they do have the best selection of food at any winery that I know of. The ambience is great and they have even added some very nice shade umbrellas on their patio. I can now recommend them and would even go there more often than I expected based on previous visits.
Paul I — Google review
One of my favorite wineries in the Treasure Valley. I’ve been coming here for seven years now and recently hosted a large event in the barrel room (and another in May!). The food is amazing and the staff is always so helpful. I suggest visiting for food and ambiance, not just the incredible wine!
Brooke H — Google review
This place is beautiful but had poor service. No refills were provided and the staff did not come up to tables often. Furthermore, we ordered dessert and by the time we came back to the table there were flies all over the cake. When we asked for one of the desserts to be replaced we were told “this is the last piece. But there are no visible issues with the cake so it should be fine”. We were not offered any alternative or anything to make the matter better. Lastly, the drive does include about 20 minutes of a dirt road at the end.
Eva V — Google review
We tried the wine flights, a delight. Dinner on the patio was so relaxing, food was good. It’s nice to dine without a lot of noise and traffic. I would recommend highly.

Starlight Mountain Theatre

Performing arts theater
Concerts & Shows
Small, outdoor theater featuring a lineup of musicals, plus a summer drama camp for children.
I've wanted to see a show here for years. Saw Little Women last night. Now I'm seriously bummed I didn't come sooner! But that's ok! I can move forward from this and see great shows in the future! Don't be like me though, and miss out on some incredible performances, Just Go! We camped there as well. Super clean spots, friendly camp hosts, who appeared to double duty in the gift shop. We bought a tee shirt and sweatshirt, picked out the design and they applied it right then. We also ate from the food truck there. So good! 10/10 evening! Can't wait for next Summer!

this place is amazing. all the actors are wonderful and so talented, the staff is the sweetest, and the scenery is gorgeous. highly highly recommend to everyone who wants to come💕

Charming outdoor setting. Talented performers and family friendly production! We took 50 youth and saw Singing in the Rain. Everyone had solid vocals and dancing. Cosmo Brown, Jordy, was fantastic and oozing charisma. So thrilled to discover this gem of a theater. ❤️🎉
Caytie B — Google review
We’ve gone to this venue for a concert and two plays, and we thoroughly enjoy the experience. The location is beautiful, but make sure to bring warm blankets in the spring and fall. Mosquito spray is a good idea. And keep in mind that the cheap seats are pretty uncomfortable benches. The other seats are cushioned. The musicals we’ve seen here have been so fun and entertaining with some surprising talent. Everything is a bit “campy” in the best way. We also attended Timberjam this year and loved the live folk music.
Rachelle N — Google review
Starlight Mountain Theatre is a must for “our ladies tribe” every year, and we make it to every show the season offers as season pass holders. Last night we went to the show, Bright Star. We had no expectations other than the host telling us weeks before we were to go, “that it was one of his favorite shows!” I love Starlight for their family friendly shows, atmosphere, actors, and overall amazing “get out for the night” experience. However, this show was very different, it was touching, thought provoking, emotional, raw, and just BEAUTIFUL!!! I laughed, I cried, I was drawn into the emotion of the story because the actors displayed each character so well. I can’t speak highly enough about this amazing show! Theatre should be able to capture all emotions, and this show does exactly that! Life isn’t always easy, and there are parts of the the show that leave you emotional, and cause you to think about your own family relations, and that was what made this show so touching to me. I usually walk away from the night feeling entertained, last night I walked away feeling entertained and moved to express my love to my own children. Thank you Starlight Mountain Theatre for this amazing show! Go see Bright Star, and take some tissue with you.
Melinda B — Google review
I have been going to Starlight Mountain Theatre for 20 years now and although the actors have changed the fun and good atmosphere have not. It has been a joy getting to know the Davis family. I am looking forward to more summers attending their shows.

Me and my family went to see the little women play. We have seen a few in the past like, high school musical, 7 bride for 7 brothers, and legally bloned. They were all amazing, very professional and fun. Great actors and amazing energy.

Fun experience in an unusual and unique theater setting. You have to imagine this was the way you'd historically see a play way back when. Saw Grease and liked it a lot. Really fun twists they've put into the storyline, which made it interesting and humorous. During a crying scene, an audience member's Australian shepherd randomly appeared onstage, to the owner's horror and our delight, to see if the actor was OK! Totally unplanned and one of those magical moments you can only experience at live theater. DO plan on the mosquitoes. 😉 I definitely recommend visiting. Sounds like a good lineup this season.

Zip Idaho was an awesome adventure. We came to Idaho for our honeymoon for the adventure and views and this stop was not a disappointment. Our guides Jay and Kevin were full of jokes and are very good at what they do. The views from the lines are amazing too. We definitely recommend going.

I won't lie: My hands were sweating as I grabbed ahold of the handle bars and waited for my maiden jump from the zip line platform at Zip Idaho. I wasn't nervous per se, but I needed a few moments to consider the safety aspects and how even if I let go of the grips, I would still be attached to the line and in no danger. Aaron, one of the two guides, calmly told me to take as much time as I needed. Once I walked the plank and got into the air, I was fine. I could feel the wind and enjoyed the ride with views of the Boise National Forest. Yelp organized the outing for 11 of us, so we didn't pay the regular $90 fee. That might seem spendy but for three hours of fun, it would be well worth it. There were six different zip lines and a rickety bridge to cross, all while attached to a zip line. The best line was 2,030 feet long and it took about 40 seconds to get to the other end, zipping by at about 50 mph. It was great. There was plenty of emphasis on safety and Aaron and Joe were good at explaining the procedures and instructing us on fitting into the harnesses. At each landing, carabiners kept us attached to cables attached to the trees, ensuring no one could fall off the platforms. The views were spectacular. The course was located about 9 miles east of Horseshoe Bend, past the town's Pioneer Cemetery. There were many wildflowers, including blue camas petals in bloom. And on the last day of May, the mountains were still green.

So amazing! Did a zip tour with my brother and it was the best experience ever!!! Highly recommend this to anyone who wants to have a little adrenaline rush! The Turkey 2000 is the best! Thanks to the awesome tour guides too! They make it so fun and safe the whole time! Definitely going back for some more!

Had an amazing first zip lining experience today! They staff was darling, and the experience was amazing. I thought I would be afraid, but was totally comfortable and in trusted hands. The drive to the site was unpaved and pretty rocky at some points, but our sedan made it up without any issues. The site is beautiful!

I’m originally from Afghanistan, but I currently live in Dallas, Texas. I recently traveled to Idaho, where a friend of mine — who lives in Orofino, about five hours from Nampa — came to meet us. He invited us to visit the Warhawk Air Museum, and I must say, it was an absolutely amazing experience 🤩. One moment that really stood out for me was seeing flags from many different countries on display — but unfortunately, not Afghanistan’s. That made me feel a little sad. However, at that very moment, my friend found and gifted me an Afghan military hat. That small gesture meant a lot to me, and I was truly happy to see something representing my country there. The Warhawk Museum is truly admirable. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. One of the employees took time to patiently answer all our questions and guided us throughout the visit with a warm attitude. I sincerely hope that the management of this museum recognizes and appreciates such dedicated and respectful staff members. Many thanks to the administration for creating such a memorable experience 🌟

We went to the Warhawk Air Museum as a part of our trip to utah, and man it was so fun! They have scavenger hunts for kids (they look for certain artifacts) that can gain them a price, and are relatively easy. They also have a bunch of retired veterans everywhere, so if you ever need help, they were there. I do admit though, some of them acted like our personal guides, which we appreciated but it made it very hard to have a thought on anything we were seeing because he was going so fast. Most of the photos were from the Japan section, but there are so many stories behind every artifact! There are basically 3 parts to the museum, front, middle, and back/out door. Or that’s at least as far as we explored. There were NO BATHROOMS that we saw, so be prepared. Museum was an over all awesome experience!

Great museum! Obviously they have a ton of different airplanes, but they also have hundreds of items in display cases with a lot of information. It stretches from WWI through to 9/11 and the Global War on Terror. There is a small gift shop as well and just past the entry they have a long line of binders with biographical information on different veterans. Definitely worth visiting, they have three different sections covering various periods and according to the staff all the aircraft are air certified and can fly.

Great weekend hanging out with the family. We came from California and spent a few hours at the museum. Lovely place. There is so much to see

We went on Saturday the 1st for the Veterans Breakfast. We had Maverick and Goose with us. Both in there flight suits and Goose in his airplane. They do a wonderful job putting on a pancake breakfast with eggs, sausage and hashbrowns. Juice and coffee too. I even saw a couple of people I knew. It's really fun to walk through the museum to get to the breakfast. We walked through a different part on the way out. The kiddos love the airplanes.

Love this place! Educational museum and lots to look at. The special events are always done perfectly. The staff, and volunteers, are all nice and knowledgeable. If you are a fan of aviation and history, it's worth the visit.

A good collection of beautifully-maintained aircraft, but what sets this place apart are all of the historical documents that have been reproduced and made available for visitors to review. It would be possible to spend an entire day here.

Kathryn Albertson Park is a 41-acre green space in Boise, featuring wildlife, ponds, and a fountain. The park offers paved footpaths, restrooms, and charming gazebos. It's a popular spot for birdwatching with various species to observe. The natural setting includes rustic benches, fences, rocks, ponds, bridges, and beautiful plants throughout the year. During springtime, the vibrant colors make it an especially picturesque destination.
We had our small elopement ceremony at the park and it was perfect. Such beautiful scenery and we got some great pictures. So many walking paths as well, if it was busy in a section you can turn a corner and feel like it's just the two of you. I've always loved this park since I was little so it was special to have this moment here.

Pros - Beautiful! Glorious! Clean! Serene! Easy parking. They provide dog poo bags, so it'll be sure to use them. . Note - Not for bikes, but wheelchair accessible throughout. It is recommended to bring a map or follow yourself on GPS. There are restrooms at the parking lot, as well as inside the trails. Don't forget bug repellant. Some trails are off limit , so be careful. . Cons - Could use a few more benches scattered around the park.

🌿 One of My Favorite Spots for Sessions! 🌿 I've photographed at Kathryn Albertson Park many times, and it never disappoints. The beautiful natural setting, winding paths, and peaceful vibe make it ideal for relaxed, genuine moments. It’s a go-to location I always trust to deliver a stunning gallery. Highly recommend!

So beautiful and full of nature. If you go early enough the catfish are out in the pond they are huge! There is wildlife there though so I would recommend going with someone and not alone. Ive seen an adult deer thete before.

Beautiful tranquil area to walk year around! Especially vibrant in the fall, but we have enjoyed it even on cold winter days. You don’t need to go far to feel like you’re surrounded by nature.

My wife and I go usually once a week and we live in Kuna. Our dogs love it. We love it there too. Plus it is cooler inside the park, which helps in the hotter months. We see lots of fun animals. Very easy walk and is wheel chair accessible. Saw the Marry Me in rose petals the day I wrote the post.

This park is really large and so many 🌲 here to see. There is no playground equipment here. No basketball, 🏀, no baseball ⚾️, no soccer ⚽️, volleyball at this kind of park. This is a place for people to walk the trails which they cross cross all over this park. There are lakes and ponds all over this park. It is so very peaceful here and with all the trees there is plenty shade here. They do have a restroom on the trail. They have a picknick that you can reserve for a medium size of people. This place is what we need downtown Boise.

Such a hidden gem! Well, I say hidden because I thought it was just another park and a lot of people I’ve talked to thought the same! It’s such a beautiful spot for a nature walk! And awesome with kids as well. Love that there’s a short or long route. Ducks, birds, turtles, a beaver, dragonflies, pollinators, and I’m sure even more wildlife I didn’t spot!

We love the Cleo's nature trail and go there usually every year. It is well maintained and pretty. We appreciate the Christian inspirational phrases and references. The Empty Tomb is very cool. This is one of those places you really don't want to share with everyone but I suppose as a business, it's only fair to give it the good review it deserves so they can get the support of the community and visitors.

Great place to go and see some neat stuff!! It's by donation, has food machines for a quarter to feed the peacocks, ( just make sure the peacocks aren't near you when you get the food out of the machine). It's very relaxing and peaceful. Kids love it!! Neat history too. Each birdhouse in this park has a saying with it. Good learning experience for young and old alike!! Definitely worth the trip. You're also right next to the Snake River!!

I love this place, the paths are well kept, they have peacocks roaming the whole property, there is always something new to see that you did not see the last time you visited. It's peaceful and just a very positive place to bring the family. The buildings on site are beautifully built. You can tell a lot of love and thought has been put into the whole property.

Idaho State Capitol

The Idaho State Capitol, a grand neoclassical statehouse built in 1914, is a historic landmark in Boise. Managed by the Capitol Curation Program, it houses over 1,000 artifacts and historic furnishings related to Idaho's history. The building's architecture emphasizes natural light and resembles the US Capitol. Visitors can explore its public galleries and gift shop or take a tour to learn about Idaho's rich history through art and exhibits.
WOW. Sorry I have not been here before. This massive building with all the marble floors, walls, pillars is just stunning. And the wood work that was hand crafted which was beautiful. And all of the posters and history throughout the building telling the history of Idaho. From the Indian significance of what they have been an integral part of our history to the Lewis and Clark traveling throughout Idaho. The grounds are such a beautiful mix of lush greenery to the plants and the many hedges of roses.
Timothy B — Google review
The Idaho State Capitol carries an elegance that never fades. The marble staircases, tall columns, and streams of natural light create a setting that feels both grand and intimate. Photographing portraits and engagement sessions here is always inspiring—the space itself adds depth and meaning to each moment without overpowering it. It’s a place that feels timeless, and one I love returning to again and again.
Jenesis P — Google review
The Boise Capitol Building is such a classic and timeless spot for photos. Between the marble columns, grand steps, and soft light, it gives every portrait a touch of elegance. Whether it’s engagement, bridal, or graduation photos — it’s always a favorite backdrop downtown.

What a wonderful State Capitol. We have our 50 State Capitol challenge. This is number 39! It’s open 7 days per week and we arrived before sunrise and had a wonderful tour. Lots to explore. Out of session times (Jan-March) one needs a guided tour to see the House and Senate Chambers. Love to see the replica Liberty Bell on display at the foot of the steps.
Mind T — Google review
The Idaho State Capitol is one of my absolute favorite spots in Boise for elopements, bridal sessions, and editorial shoots. There’s something so timeless about the clean marble architecture and soft window light. It makes every moment feel elevated and romantic without needing much else. I’ve photographed everything from intimate "just-us" elopements to European-inspired bridal editorials in this space, and each time I’m amazed at the variety it offers. The light shifts gently throughout the day, wrapping couples in warmth during afternoon portraits and creating jaw-dropping editorial shadows by early evening. The backdrop is stately and refined, yet somehow still playful, perfect for capturing both quiet glances and bold, creative moments. If you want your images to feel both timeless and artistic, this is the place. It’s iconic Boise, but it also feels like you’ve been whisked away to Europe for the afternoon. And best of all? No permits. No stress. Just show up and make magic.
Katy P — Google review
Awesome interior. Notice the compass rose on the main level and one floor below. Look up to the top of the rotunda and see how the night sky could look from this location. Oriented north south, with the House to the east and the Senate to the west. Go up to the 4th floor and check out the displays on that floor. Make sure to go to the gift shop floor, there you will see the history of Idaho and some of what makes it the great state it is today!
Sean B — Google review
Beautiful building with extremely rich local history. I love how accessible it is to the public
Isaac F — Google review
The Idaho State Capitol is a stunning and well-preserved piece of history right in the heart of Boise. The architecture is impressive inside and out, and the building is open to the public for self-guided tours. It’s a great spot to learn about Idaho’s government and history, and the marble interior is truly beautiful. A must-visit for anyone exploring downtown Boise.

Nestled in the picturesque Julia Davis Park, Zoo Boise is a beloved attraction in Southern Idaho. This living science facility houses over 200 animals from 83 different species and offers diverse exhibits such as an African boat ride, kids' farm, and butterfly area. Supported by the Friends of Zoo Boise, the zoo aims to engage visitors in wildlife conservation through education programs and special events.
Visited Zoo Boise just yesterday and had such a fantastic time! The zoo is incredibly clean and well maintained—every path and exhibit looked spotless, and you can really see how much care goes into everything. I was impressed by how much space the animals have; it feels like a comfortable home for them, which isn’t something you see at every zoo. The new red panda exhibit was a huge highlight! It was so much fun to watch them climbing and exploring—I could have stayed there all afternoon. I also made sure to stop by and see the tiger, who’s always been my favorite. Seeing him up close was amazing, as always. I love the interactive activities here too—feeding the giraffes is a must, and the little boat ride offers a fun break from walking. There are plenty of concession stands for snacks, and the layout makes it easy to find your way around. Zoo Boise just keeps getting better, and I’m super excited for their next expansion. Highly recommend for a fun and memorable day out!
Nick F — Google review
I've been to a few zoos in my time and I've never seen the red pandas as active as they were at the Boise Zoo. They were eating, they were walking up and down a sky bridge, they were romping. The zoo is in the process of adding additional animals, so some construction, but nothing invasive. Aside from one sleepy fox, all their animals seemed very active. The zoo is clean and easy to navigate and reasonable in cost. I also went on a warm day and it seemed laid out well to provide shade and relief from the sun. Would recommend.
Surls M — Google review
Well I never went to the zoo I went to Art in the park I don't know if that's its official Title, but there was a ton of very unique booths, something for everone, No Junk. It was well worth my time but the zoo I have been there before and the zoo is really nice it's small but it's well done the kids enjoy it. there's usually not a wait, today was half price! there's other things to do in walking distance. There's the Discovery Center for kids, The Boise Art museum. The Rose gardens. If you get too hot if you get on the green belt and there's a path of long trees and you don't see anything else the river's just on the other side of the trees literally
Nancy R — Google review
This is our second visit and I can honestly say, we love it. Yes, a lot of the enclosures were not occupied and there is a lot of construction but I can see where they are taking it and I’m excited. Today, while we didn’t get to see a ton of animals, the ones we did see actually “interacted” with us. We got to feed some giraffe and have a great day!
Serenna L — Google review
While this zoo is not as big as the Portland Zoo in Oregon or the Woodland Zoo in Seattle, it packs a big bunch in variety and kid friendliness. The red panda exhibit was so cool and they were very active. My 9yo and 1yo had so much fun. The farm animal petting zoo section was a great end to the experience as well. Next time we are in Boise we will be sure to come back.
Mr. R — Google review
You can tell the animals are well-cared for. They are active and appear healthy. The zoo is much larger than you would expect, there's a lot of development to improve each of the animals paddock. The family loved the zoo, this is a must see for anyone that loves animals.
Lucas S — Google review
For a small zoo it's very cute. The Red Panda enclosure was so awesome. There was plenty of staff around to ask questions. We are excited to see what they will bring with the new construction. My only issue was the windows aren't very clear in many enclosures so it was hard to see some of the animals.
D — Google review
I was so disappointed in my visit here. None of the animals were out all the Exhibits were closed or moved or under construction. I think maybe we saw seven animals in a n hour. This zoo needs some grants some donations something to make them worth going to. I was so disappointed I wanted to ask for a refund for my time there.

The Boise River Greenbelt is a stunning 25-mile trail that weaves through the heart of Boise, connecting various parks and recreational areas while offering breathtaking riverside views. This multiuse path invites everyone to enjoy its beauty, whether you're cycling, jogging, or simply taking a leisurely stroll. With an impressive average of 234 sunny days each year, it's no wonder that locals and visitors alike flock to this vibrant space for outdoor activities.
Was cruising along the river on a Lime scooter and next thing I know found myself in the Greenbelt staring at a giraffe. Then it took me over a gorgeous river and through the Boise State Campus. Boise is lucky to have such a beautiful gem and it seems like they truly cherish it. A tourist visit to Boise without quality time along the river greenbelt isn’t a true visit.

25 mile, mostly paved, greenbelt trail following the Boise River. Absolutely gorgeous and green, with pathways lined with lush trees! Kid and dog-friendly with so much to do. The trail provides access to so many different parks, museums, Zoo Boise, Warm Springs Gold Course, Boise State University, and even a food truck park! The river is also available for fishing and tubing. The trail is littered with electronic scooters available for rent (via a mobile App). I used one and it was a blast, but it does become a bit of an eyesore when there are so many lying around.

Beautiful paved bike trail. Passed bicyclists, scooters, and people walking. Biked from the Zoo to past Garden City. Trail ended on the east side of the river. Might be better to ride on the west side of the river. Will definitely be back and rent electric bikes and do all of the trail.

Such a lush vegetated place to walk or ride your bike. I walked the entire path then rode an electric scooter back to my car. The Spin app is so affordable and I got back very quick.

I stayed at the Park Center Marriott and walked the Green Belt on my visit twice, once w a friend who brought her dog. We entered through the parking lot by the Refuge at Park Center. The path was paved for probably a mile and then was a dirt path but well maintained. There were lots of people walking dogs. You could walk down in the river bed in many spots to take photos. We saw tons of hawks, geese, and my friend saw a bald eagle. Apparently it’s a great spot for bird watchers who know other birds. People were very friendly and dogs were most on leashes and had good recall. You’d want boots on the dirt path this time of year as it had icy spots and was a little muddy but not bad. There were garbage cans along the path and people kept the area pretty free of trash.

The Springs

Day spa featuring natural hot spring pools, a steam room, massages & a cafe serving light fare.
The staff is very pleasant and the locker rooms are clean. They don't let too many people in the main pool so you always have plenty of space. I've been twice this past winter and really enjoyed both trips. I was able to bring my 8-year-old daughter on the weekend and she loved it as well. Their Italian sodas are some of the best I've had anywhere and their cocktails are well prepared.

Relaxing getaway just outside Boise! The Springs in Idaho City is the perfect spot for a peaceful evening soak and an easy drive from Boise. The facility is beautiful, spotless, and well-maintained, and the staff are friendly and welcoming from the moment you arrive. The main soaking pool is huge with lots of space to float, relax, and unwind. The private tub experience was totally worth the extra money for an hour of quiet relaxation. It’s clean, cozy, and feels like your own personal spa. No outside food or drinks are allowed, so plan to spend a little extra on-site. The pretzel and beer were our go-to and didn’t disappoint. Prices are on the higher side, but the clean, beautiful, and relaxing atmosphere makes it worth it. We’ll definitely be back!

Very nice, relaxing soak in pools or hot tub. The dressing room could be bigger. We were a large group of 30 people, mostly women. The showers are nice with shampoo, conditioner and body was included, on the wall and a bench to sit in, if needed. You can order light snacks or drinks poolside, including alcohol, if you so desire. They take your credit card to keep on file while you're there then you payout when leaving. A lovely trip. Their hotel/cabins are up the road a ways.

I wish this place was closer so I could go more often. I've been a handful of times and it never fails to completely relax my body and gives me the best night sleep afterwards. Great for romantic evening or for a group get together.

I used the hot springs, it was very relaxing, water temperature was perfect. There is 1 hot tub hotter than the main pool, that was great. We paid 62 dollars for 2 of us. Over all, it was a great experience. Outdoor weather was nice and chilly for hot springs enjoyment. Staff were friendly
Michael C — Google review
This may have been the worst customer service ever given to me. My husband and I called last week because we have tokens. We were told over the phone that we could still use those tokens, even for a private tub. My husband booked a private tub, and we get there and they said we couldn’t use the tokens for the private tub but could use them for the large pool. We then tell them we were told we could use them. The ladies working at the reception tell us we can pay for the private tub and then use the tokens to soak more in the large pool afterwards. We said that we would like to use our tokens for the private pool due to being told that over the phone, they then tell us if we want to use the tokens for the big pool we can but we have to still pay for the private pool because of their cancellation policy. They end up letting us cancel the private pool and just go into the large one. So there was that but only after going back and forth and being met with rude, short responses. I understand mis communication happens sometimes, but the way they handled it was unprofessional. So we just go soak in the large pool, we ordered some snacks and then less than an hour later we are told we have to go because the time is up. They never told us the soak time we were entering was almost over. If we had known we would have waited till the next time slot. Even through expressing our concern we were met with short, vague responses and no real effort from either of these employees to correct the mistake on their end. We did get our tokens back, only from asking for them and being more firm about our experience. Completely disappointing experience and I do not recommend going here if you wanna pay outrageous prices, that don’t match the quality of service. Go take a hike and find a natural hot springs, better views and you will have a much better time.
Caitlyn W — Google review
Rude. Lots of arbitrary rules. Expensive. Buy an hour and last call is in 30 minutes. Harrassed me until i left the pool, even though I had ample time left. More bad to share. Not recommended. I read the reply to my post, to be crystal clear, I was not treated respectfully nor kindly.
William S — Google review
Our experience at The Springs was incredibly disappointing due to misleading information and poor customer service. The website clearly states that children under 18 are allowed at The Springs on certain days, which is why we booked a family outing for Saturday morning. However, it never mentions that kids are not allowed in the private tubs at any time. I learned that crucial detail only appeared in the fine print of a confirmation email after we booked and we were all standing there in your reception area checking in for our fun family outing—and by then, it was non-refundable. We were shocked to arrive and be told that our nearly 17-year-old son couldn’t join his mom, aunt, and cousin in the private tubs. Instead, we had to leave him alone in the public pool area. When we expressed our concern, the staff simply said, “Did you read your email?”—which came off as dismissive and unhelpful, especially given the lack of upfront disclosure on their website. This is not how a resort should treat guests, especially families trying to follow the rules and plan in good faith. Due to the lack of transparency and unwillingness to accommodate or take responsibility, we will not be returning—and I would caution others, especially families, to be very wary when booking.

Old Idaho Penitentiary Site

History museum
Sights & Landmarks
The Old Idaho Penitentiary Site, located in Boise, is a historic prison complex that operated from 1872 to 1973. It features over 30 buildings and offers self-guided walking tours and special exhibitions. The site has a dark history, having housed notorious inmates such as Harry Orchard and Lyda Southard. With at least 110 recorded deaths within its walls, the prison was eventually closed in 1973 due to riots that caused significant damage.
Luckily, I found a podcast a few months ago with stories of inmates from this Penitentiary. After binging episodes, I knew I needed to visit. I drove with my family from Utah to make an entire to out of Boise, a place I'd never been before. Secretly, I just wanted to visit this site. Having visited both Alcatraz and Eastern Penitentiary before, this place is more personal. It has a certain atmosphere of reverence while maintaining the history. I'm sure my family was overwhelmed by the stories I told (thanks to the podcast). The smaller size certainly helped you feel the family each inmate felt from other inmates. Stories of inmates were posted everywhere as a reminder of the souls who filled the walls, not just a place of lock up and punishments. My only regret is not paying for the tour. I wanted to do it at my own pace, yet I'm sure they would have accommodated or I could walk through alone again. I encourage everyone to make the pilgrimage to this place. Who knows how long before it crumbles away.

It was worth the negligible amount of money to tour. A couple of things that I found interesting was the number of inmates that had 'must relocate to California as a condition of their parole' the first time I saw it I thought 'thats interesting...' the 3rd time I thought 'wait a minute ' lol. Check it out, its worth seeing the gallows where they hung the death row inmates. They have a gift shop and I thought that it would be interesting to be arrested for stealing from the Idaho State Penitentiary gift shop but I didn't do it

What a great sad place to see history, in a since. I could feel the energy the prison had. The peeling paint, beds, the doors all felt very cold. They had tours if you wanted to do that,a small gift shop. Admission was pretty good. I recommend going to see it.

The Old Idaho Penitentiary is a fascinating and very well-preserved historic site that’s absolutely worth visiting! Walking through the old cell blocks, solitary confinement rooms, and the guard towers gives you a real sense of what life must have been like back in the day. The exhibits are detailed and informative, covering both the prison’s history and the stories of some of its inmates. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions, which makes the visit even more engaging. It’s a perfect stop for anyone interested in history, architecture, or something a bit different from the usual tourist attractions. Plan about 1–2 hours for your visit — and don’t forget your camera, the old stone buildings make for great photos!

We had a pretty big group and got a guided tour and we were so glad we did. Leslie was our guide and she was amazing very energetic and so informative especially with the kids in our group asking questions. Would highly recommend coming and having her be your guide. Also the prison is awesome, definitely need to go see it at least once.

This is very interesting and, frankly, creepy and beautiful at the same time. This prison was built in 1870 and it's one of only four territorial prisons open to the public today. Certainly worth a visit. There are many buildings you can go into and some you can only peer into. It was in operation for 101 years and during that time there were escapes, scandals and the transition from Boise's "wild west" to a modern capital city. The prison closed because it was falling apart and conditions for prisoners were cramped and dangerous. Amidst the ruins there are gardens. One can tour old cell blocks, learn about notable inmates, see where some people were kept in solitary confinement or on death row and where they were hung. There are guided tours for an additional fee. Most of the site is handicapped accessible. Some upstairs areas are open to the public but are only accessible via stairs. Visual aids are available for guests unable to access these areas. There are restrooms and a gift shop on site. An admission fee is charged. One may also buy a combo ticket that includes the Idaho Botanical Garden next door which was built on former penitentiary grounds. Parking is free on site.

Really neat experience! I took my kids age 8 and 9 (self guided tour) and they really enjoyed it although it probably put a little fear of breaking the law into them too 🤣 💅. The employees were really great and friendly. Enthusiastic to share information even if your not in a tour group. Cheap family outing, I can't believe I haven't gone sooner! Last check in is 4, closes at 5. I can see why it closes before dark lol CREEPY even in the daytime! We arrived at 4 and were able to do it in an hr, but we did cut it close, so depending on how much time you want to spend in the weapons room and cell blocks you may add a bit of time to that.

Cool part of Idaho's history. The self tour is more than adequate to get a feel for the old structures of the penitentiary. Definitely worth visiting.

Discover the wonders of The Peregrine Fund's World Center for Birds of Prey, an indoor/outdoor facility dedicated to the conservation and research of raptors. The center houses live falcons, eagles, vultures, hawks, and owls while also serving as a research hub focused on understanding the health, reproduction, and general biology of these magnificent birds.
Terrific experience. Big birds (and some little ones) in well-constructed habitats are kept happy by people who care. The programs consist of watching a bird jump around you and fly low over your head while being educated by an expert passionate about their friends. The animals are residents, and the staff all affectionately call them by their names. I happened upon this place through my work as a school bus driver driving a class of kids here, and the staff happily welcomed me to explore the facility, which was delightfully entertaining and educational. My day is made, and I'll be back with friends for sure.

Really neat place! We really enjoyed the education program and getting to see so many birds up close. The volunteers and staff were very friendly and had lots of info to share. The history of the Peregrine Fund was inspirational to learn about and it's nice to know that so many people are passionate about protecting our native species. Seeing such beautiful wildlife up close was a rare & beautiful experience. The gift shop was also full of great souvenirs!

What a great show! We went for Fall Flight and thoroughly enjoyed it. The guides give the history and status of the birds of prey, such as the California Condor, along with the flights. It was a really hot day, and Rachel (a guide) had to go chasing after one of the birds. She stayed chipper and upbeat, even as she had to be sweltering! Well worth the trip.

This place is awesome for learning about birds of prey. There's something for everyone irrespective of their age. We also attended the scheduled show, which I would highly recommend. It was amazing to get a glimpse at these birds and how they hunt up close and personal. They also talked about the cool research projects they have worked on to help these beautiful birds
Nishant S — Google review
This place is fantastic. The staff are all super knowledgeable and very friendly. We learned so much and had numerous up close encounters with various birds of prey. I love that they are helping so many species here. Make sure that you are there for one of their shows where they bring out some of the birds. This was one of the highlights of our road trip.
J. C — Google review
Wonderful experience. We went to the flight show and it was so well done, and the birds were so fascinating! The ladies who ran the show really have it down and know their stuff. Anything you buy at the gift shop goes directly to the organization/foundation for the birds and further research. I highly recommend attending at least once!

This was our visit to the Peregrine Fund’s Birds of Prey. It was very cool to see these beautiful birds up close. The red tail hawk was pretty tame for such a large raptor. We really enjoyed seeing the Condors flying around (huge prehistoric looking creatures). We had no idea that Boise was home to the #1 birds of prey center in the world with such an amazing library of archives dating back hundreds of years! If you get a few hours to go up and see it, take the time… you’ll be glad you did.

This place is absolutely wonderful! Its perfect for families or just anyone. Its clean, inexpensive, fantastic views, and very informative. I always take guests here when they visit from out of town. The staff is super friendly. A must see is the Fall Flights show during certain times of the year. Well worth a visit.

Celebration Park

Nature & Parks
Riverfront area features a visitor center & historic bridge tours, plus camping, fishing & hiking.
Pretty great spot. You have the petroglyph walk and then trails along the snake river. If you cross the bridge there are even more trails to explore. Lot's of diverse birds we saw pheasants to birds we haven't seen before. Also $2 entrance fee. And if you arrive at the right time you can go on a guided tour. They also have a map so you can just go on a self guided tour.
Ajdin M — Google review
Great little park right on the Snake River! We camped for 2 nights for only $5 a night. Not a ton of space for larger tents, but there is plenty of seating, fire pits and nice public restrooms. Our second night was ruined by the neighbors but the first night was awesome. Nice boat launch with docks for fishing. Tons of trails and I love the old railroad bridge. Beware if you're camping: Seems like people tend to come there to drink and party on weekends, way past quiet time. So if you like quiet, stay in a spot farther away from the boat launch.
Melissa W — Google review
Lots of petroglyphs on the rocks nearby to see and fishing for bass can be good in the Snake River there. There’s a boat launch there but it’s being rebuilt now. I did see some wild muskrats (I think 🤔) swimming nearby. Please see my video.
Herb W — Google review
Great place for a day visit to walk the trails and enjoy the scenery. You can camp there too but is there not much shade around. The walk on the historic bridge was a great experience. It was fascinating to see the Petroglyphs. Some really interesting rock carvings they have.
Natty T — Google review
Arrived at 9pm on a Friday night after a 10hr drive with our rental RV and still got a nice site. No water, dump or hookup for RVs, potable water for containers at the visitor centre. Pit toilets were very clean, or flush toilets a further walk at the visitor centre. Great river views, lots of people camping and fishing. A few bugs around and the smell from nearby farms was the only downside. Pleasantly surprised! Paved all the way to the start of the camp sites, where it gets a little rough, but most RVs should be just fine. Only $5 honesty system to camp, or $2 for day use (bring cash).
Brandon B — Google review
Lovely river park with camping and trails. Lots of recreation opportunities are available. The rock art is amazing! So many cool birds. There is a lot of parking. The restrooms are clean. Bottle filling station was nice. The visitor center is small but the staff is very friendly.

Great place to take the family or a motorcycle ride. Lots of trails and history to see. The old railroad bridge was built over a 128 years ago and was used to bring silver and gold from Silver City to Nampa to have it melt down. Its now used for foot traffic to cross to the other side of the Snake River. One of my favorite places in Idaho.
John — Google review
Always a great time. The history here is amazing. EG, the bullet holes pictured in my clicks here were actually placed here by the US Army as it was a training target. Unsure if the tent was vagrant or sheep herders. One is not expected to spend the $ necessary for a wall tent; and the other is less common in 2025, lol.

Such a fun place for all ages! The water is shallow and there are great features for little kids. There's plenty of shade or sun depending on what you're looking for. Parking is ample.

Super fun! Admission into the park was only $7, we also rented paddleboards there and it wasn’t too bad. Even on a “busy day” it was still easy to navigate around people. Would definitely go back.

Such a great destination, just 25 minutes from downtown Boise! Picturesque both the drive and the park itself, gorgeous backdrops paired with a soothing sound of running water. Please make a reservation for their bbq area ( theirs is a big gazebo to guarantee plenty of shade ) for group parties! There’s a fantastic walking and biking path that is smooth and protected with a rail on one side. Bathrooms were clean and the daily fee to use the park was seven dollars. Make sure to bring cash for the service fee. So go, what are you waiting for! You won’t regret it!

I'm not sure there are words for what a special place this is, but I'll try. Spent almost three hours here on a hot July day. Unless you're an uncurious person, this place has enough to occupy anyone from 7 to 117 for as long as their attention lasts! I can't begin to describe the wonders, there are simply too many! That may seem like hyperbole, but it's not. It was better than any history museum I've ever visited, but on the banks of the beautiful Snake River, with chickens guinea fowl, and a matronly 30yo Emu ❤️ The proprietor is incredibly kind and generous with his time. There are legitimate treasures here, collections to blow your mind in every size and shape. I stopped taking photos after ten minutes simply because I was far too engrossed. Best $15 I've ever spent. Truly cannot wait to go back 😍

Bring cash and take 2 hours to explore these collections. Very fascinating and well curated collections of relics from Care Bears to military uniforms. Being your pucnic and sit under the trees on the grounds. There is even a space you can inquire about I for small events. Great touristic spot off the beaten path

This place is incredible! We were there for 3 hours and didn’t get to see all of it. If you get the chance this is definitely worth your time! The next time I go it will be for the day. The grounds are beautiful so would be great to enjoy a picnic lunch halfway through. Mr. Lawson couldn’t have been nicer! Little more than an hour from Boise, but well worth the drive!❤️

Bruneau Dunes State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
Campground
Expansive park offers hiking & equestrian trails, plus water/sand sports, an observatory & camping.
Nice state park with really cool and massive sand dunes. The campground was nice and close enough to take a short hike to climb the dunes. The visitor center offer sleds and boards for rent to slide down the dunes. Heard coyotes at night and saw a pronghorn near the campground. Also saw a gopher snake that was not aggressive at all. Definitely be prepared for mosquitoes becuase they came out in force as soon as the sun set.
The Y — Google review
The Ranger at the visitor center was wonderful. She was very engaged in her work and gave us great information on things we could do at the park. We stayed at Eagle Cove and the campground was very clean. Unfortunately, there is no shade at all at this campground. None of the picnic tables have any sort of cover. Regarding the bathrooms, the sink and toilet areas were very clean. However, in the women’s restroom, there was hair all over the shower drain strip throughout our two days stay. The dunes are quite amazing. We hiked early in the morning and it was great exercise. Although we had a map, it would’ve been nice if there was signage along the trails. Unfortunately, we were there during the week and so the observatory was not open. A senior discount is given on campsites, which is a bonus.

A unique part of Idaho. This State Park was a short ride off the main road and it cost 7.00 to enter. They offer impressive massive sand dunes, two camp sites and at the visitor center you can the rent sleds and sand boards to use on the sand dunes. We were told that they don’t rent these if temperatures are too high. We only went for the day, but at night we were told that it is perfect for star gazing. We were lucky to have cardboard with us so we used that as sand boards. The Ranger at the visitor center was knowledgeable and very friendly. We went in the middle of the day so the sand can be very hot. We enjoyed sitting at the top and enjoying the view of the picturesque lake. This was a very clean State Park and it was a lot of fun to visit.

This park was much better than expected. It was well kept and offered some great sunset views. It was so fun to hike up the dunes and watch the sunset. If you are in the area I highly recommend checking it out atleast once.

Food: NA/5 Service: NA/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Parking: 4/5 Family friendly: 5/5 Stroller friendly: 3/5 ADA accessible: 3/5 My family and I came here strictly for the sand dunes and observatory, late on a Sunday evening around 845-9pm. (Apparently the observatory is closed on Sunday?). Entrance fee is $7 cash or check when the gate is closed. You have to be in some type of shape as ascending the 60 deg incline hill of sand takes a bit of muscle and cardio endurance to make it up. Once at the top though, it's a serene and calming experience. On the backside of the first sand dune, the Snake River runs through. Similar to an Oasis in the desert. However, as some people may know or experience, wherever there is water, comes the bugs. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the bugs (mosquitoes) attacked. Not just one or two, swarms of mosquitoes. If you're like me and have allergic itching reactions to pest bites, be warned and have full body covering along with repellent. By the time we escaped to the car my son had been bit on the head and face. Just a forewarning. Bruneau Dunes State Park seems like a cool place to be. There were 3-4 individual camping locations that's were RV friendly and vast spaces for kids to run around. Sand Dunes themselves are not WC friendly unless you invent some type of sled to push/pull the WC up the hill. Also, make sure when dusk arrives, COVER UP!
Rus M — Google review
Finally took our kids here and we used to go ourselves growing up. It's a great day trip from Boise, as it's just past Mountain Home. We want to go back and check out the observatory when it's not as smoky outside. You can bring sleds, hike up and try to slide down the sand. It's a fun family activity in the fall when it's not as hot. There's a campground for those who want to stay the night and I've seen people have blacklights to go check out the glowing scorpions at night.
Kricket E — Google review
My wife and I intended to stay the night in one of the park's cabins, but we had to change our plans due to potentially dangerous weather. However, we still enjoyed the park for a short visit. The staff was incredibly helpful in the Visitor's Center. We chose to climb up the small dune but arrived too late in the afternoon to climb the large one - it was simply going to take too long. The large dune was impressively large, and the small one was still cool and very easy to climb in a few minutes. We have been to Namibia and climbed/boarded on big dunes there, and this was pretty comparable. Walking up and boarding down more than a couple of times becomes a pretty serious workout though. The only way up is to walk through the soft sand, so it's best to follow in other people's footprints.

Three Island Crossing State Park

Park
Nature & Parks
613 acres with campsites, trails, wildlife & a center with Oregon Trail educational programs/tours.
This Idaho state park was a great place to camp. Very clean and well maintained. The grounds were beautiful, the campsites were clean with functioning hookups, the bathrooms and showers were clean and the History Center on property was done very well. All the employees were helpful and friendly. The city center of Glenn’s Ferry was walkable (approximately 2 miles) and was very nice with historical points along the way. I personally would recommend camping in the upper loop or the lower loop for the views of the Snake River, but both areas are very nice. Don’t pass up going to the History Center, it is bigger than I was expecting and I learned more than I thought I already knew about the Oregon Trail.

A beautiful and relaxing campground. Lots of birds, heard a barn owl in the tree above our tent, Osprey, King birds, Night Hawks, Swallows, Doves, Warblers, etc plus nice showers with bench option that folds up and down for accessibility and hooks for clothes.. Campsites have electricity and camp fire and picnic tables, very nice and comfortable camping. Some of the trees are close enough for hammocks so my son opted to sleep in a mosquito net covered hammock and said it was nice. The rest of us slept in our tents... Near the river but not accessible due to cliffs. Probably part of the reason there were so many cool birds.

Nice little park with a great interpretive center. Clean and neat campsites, restrooms & showers. Even though I was tent camping, my site had power & water. Windy in the afternoon but otherwise pleasant. No privacy as sites are close together. Nice walking trails and access to main highway.

Great quiet place to camp. Water & electric hookups in each rv space. Waste dump site. Walk to the river for fishing. Shade everywhere in common areas, sites are shaded depending on the time of the day. Very relaxing, just had a family reunion there for 4 days. We will definitely be coming back often !!

I give this place a 🎩🎩 out of 🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩. The place is clean and has both electric and water. Has a dump station somewhere i hear. Way too crowded in spots though. Had possibly the dinkiest fire pit while the spot next to me had an actual round fire pit. Grass was nice bit did have some goat heads. The worst part was the camp hosts. Each spot is supposed to allow 2 vehicles but heaven forbid your car be 2 inches on the "grass". Kids can't even play on trees like kids do. They were out hust to enforce what ever they could. They should also move the river closer to the camp sites. It was too far away. Grass was green though.

Very well maintained camp ground. Camp hosts were very kind. You can also get ice and firewood from the camp host. 7$ for a bundle of wood and 3$ for ice. We stayed in camp sight 61. Power and water was at the sight. We could fit 4 tents 3cars and a 40 food motorhome at the sight. I would definitely recommend going it's calm and relaxing place to go.

We decided to stay in one of the cabins, which are very similar to a KOA cabin. I thought the overall price was high at almost $100. That was with an Idaho discount, and I didn't have to pay the extra entrance fee to the park because I pre-purchased a State Park sticker. The cabin had a working heater and air-conditioner. It also had lights and plenty of outlets. I would suggest that if you have back problems that you bring a blow-up mattress because the mattresses do not have any support. The cabin has a nice front porch. We sat on it and watched the Milky Way pass by in the night. The bathrooms were clean. They had showers and heaters. You might bring some extra toilet paper though because the men's room didn't have any. The building is also well lit at night. The camping spaces have lots of trees for shade. There is lots of grass. Ample parking for one vehicle. And each site has a nice picnic table. I was there primarily to take some photos of the Milky Way and was very happy that all the lights in the parking lot at the Museum were turned off so I could get a true dark sky experience. We will definitely be coming back.

Stayed in site 2. Level site with water and electric. Gravel back in. Some shade. Sewer dump available. Nice state park museum about history of Oregon Trail. Be advised if you arrive before 2PM check in you will have to wait in the day use area. The museum is located there so we visited it while waiting for check in time. Several rigs waiting as well. Not a big deal. Would recommend and would stay again if in the area. Verizon service was good.

Staying at the nearby State Park and decided to try the Y Knot Winery for some wine tasting and dinner. Good decision; staff were very accommodating to us as I have a Service Dog. Our server was great, very efficient and even brought some ice water for my pal. We did a tasting of five wines and then had a nice dinner and the price was very reasonable. Definitely recommend stopping by.

Stayed here a few years ago and loved it. Stay with Harvest Hosts they made some improvements to the park. Plenty of space for big rigs. We had dinner, extra crispy wings and split a chicken salad, wings were amazing. Had some great wine. Shopped in the gift shop and had an amazing evening. The gals that work there were super nice and friendly. We will definitely be back.

Stumbled upon this place while out on a weekend drive. What a neat find! We sampled several of their wines by ordering two of their 5 pour flights. On our way out we grabbed bottles of two of our favorites, one red and one white. We sat on the patio and enjoyed lunch as well. The wings were super tasty as were the halibut fish and chips. Will definitely stop by again if we're ever in the area.

Wow, they have it all in one place. Winery, golf, restaurant, bar, & rv camping. The restaurant and wine did not disappoint. The trout was fantastic. I do not eat starch so they gave me extra veggies of squash cooked perfectly. The salmon was fresh cooked & served on a cedar plank. Nice size baked potato with all the fixings. I did a 2oz pour wine tasting again they did not disappoint. Pinot gris, rose, Blue nor, reserve merlot and heritage. I was skeptical about the blue nior and it rocked. They were all good. I would have to say the blue noise and rose were my favorite. Our server was great. She didnt rush us but she also checked on us often. Thank you for a great experience.

Our family had a wonderful experience here during a recent trip to Glenns Ferry. The food was good, the location was nice, and the atmosphere was welcoming — but what truly made our visit great was our server, Ella. Despite being incredibly busy, she was friendly, attentive, and very nice to our kids. It was clear she genuinely cared about providing great service. She made sure we were seated quickly and that everything came out promptly and correctly. Her hard work and thoughtfulness didn’t go unnoticed. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in the area. Hands down the best restaurant in Glenns Ferry.

We've been there twice for lunch and drinks. Dusty makes THE best bloody Mary, hands down. She made our experiences really fun. The food is delicious and the wine goes with saying. We definitely will be returning.

My husband and I have come here two years in a row. Last year we had Ellie and she did a great job. After our visit last year I decided we had to rent the mini cabin for a night or two. So this year we came up with our dogs and kids and we had such a wonderful time. We had Ellie again and I had so much fun with Lacey! The other servers/bartenders were amazing (I’m sorry I can’t remember their names). We stayed in the merlot mini cabin and it was clean, cute, and quaint. We love the food and THE WINE!! I love the wine here so much. Last year when we came we had stayed in Boise and went wine tasting and stopped for lunch at Y knot and I felt like Boise was wasted money because we like the wine at Y Knot so much more. I can’t wait to come back next year. I always get the clams as an appetizer and love it. I was thinking about it for weeks until we went. It’s perfect for our family.

I'm a local resident and I wanted to advise any future patrons about the lack of concern this restaurant has towards the needs of their customers. My wife has a milk allergy and this restaurant has consistently put cheese in her food orders. This last time we ordered a to go order, and it had cheese at the bottom of the container. It was as if the cook made the mistake of adding it, then lazily scooped it out rather than make the salad again. The restaurant has on numerous occasions gotten our orders wrong, have missed items on the order, and served undercooked bacon. This is the last time I will be giving this place my money. I confronted the manager about my concerns (Melodie) and a refund for my wife's meal. As of the writing of this review, no refund has been given. So if you have any dietary issues, this is not the place for you. The staff will get the order wrong, won't inspect that the order has everything, and they will give you terrible service. They definitely won't give you your money back.

Bruneau Canyon Overlook

Scenic spot

This is a very nice area. The views are incredible. The canyon is stunning. The facilities are well maintained. The road is very smooth pavement, and then it turns to dirt. It's fairly smooth, but be careful. There are some deep ruts and one particular drainage ditch that runs across the road. It can sneak up on you. We ride adventure motorcycles, and this could have been a big problem if we weren't experienced proactive riders. So, use caution. It is open range in areas, so watch for cows. Especially in the spring, watch for newborns. They can easily hide in the brush along the side of the road. And they have a tendency to jump up and dart into the roadway. If you get a chance, stop in at the Cafe on the corner. Excellent food.
Fox A — Google review
The road from the north is paved until about 5 miles from the road to the overlook. Once you hit gravel it is a little rough but you can get there in even a small car. There is a pit toilet at the parking area. The view itself is best in the morning until early afternoon when the sun will be in your face.

Great little honey hole you see in Idaho. Kinda out of the way off the beaten path but still beautiful. Mostly dirt road to the look out. Bring water, there’s nothing out there. Only 18 miles from town but no shade
Danny — Google review
It's a bit of a drive off the beaten path but it is well worth the view. Very well put together overlook area with parking. It is very out in the open so be ready for some wind. The roads are gravel for a ways on the way out here so leave the sports car at home.
Isaac F — Google review
Really cool. It's like our very own Grand Canyon! Definately a cool place to take family that visits.
Shannan D — Google review
This place is incredibly beautiful, with dramatic canyon views and a peaceful, untouched vibe. The road leading there is pretty bad, with lots of gravel and rocks, so it’s best to drive slowly and carefully. Despite the rough drive, the scenery at the end makes it completely worth it.
Musfika Z — Google review
My wife and I were headed to the Bruneau Sand Dunes and decided to drive down and see the canyon. The drive was completely fine in our crossover rental car. Yes, the last few miles are on a dirt road, but it was well-maintained. The views were amazing, even after some rain and lingering clouds. There are railings and sidewalks once you get to the overlook, and the pit toilet was a nice touch. We spent a little more time down there than we thought given how nice the views were.
James G — Google review
The lookout was amazing... the adventure to get there, not so much. Google maps took us down a route where the road got smaller and smaller til it was basically just a dirt trail. I thought we may forever be stuck in the middle of no where Idaho... yikes.

Malad Gorge - Thousand Springs State Park

Mentioned on

Nature & Parks
State park
Thousand Springs State Park encompasses several units, one of which is the Box Canyon Unit featuring a vast canyon with waterfalls, a bridge and breathtaking views. The park offers opportunities for hiking, guided tours and picnicking amidst the stunning scenery. Locating the trailhead may prove challenging as Google Maps often leads visitors down agricultural access roads. However, once found, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the canyon during sunset.
This a great State Park! Lots to see and do here, in way of the Gorge and plenty of interpretative signs along the way! I included a few pictures of the magnificent trees and some horse friends along the way. The last photo is of the very nice park they have here. There are many more exceptional photos of the park on other reviews. The restrooms were closed on our trip. We did all the loops and the last one, not withstanding, had a nice waterfall on it. Was an epic failure in terms of the photo I took. Well worth your drive to travel here and go access all the roads and interpretive information they provide. Quite fascinating!!! 😊

Amazing views! What a wonderful experience for only $7. Can't believe thousands of people every day drive across the canyon without even realizing what's below the freeway! Roughly an hour outside of Boise and completely worth the drive! Five different viewpoints to choose from a map includes details of every viewpoint.
Michael B — Google review
This small State Park is located right off of interstate 84. You will need an Idaho State park pass or pay a $7.00 fee to enter which is also good for the day at all Idaho State parks. At the first stop is a short hike where you can see the narrow gorge from a bridge that crosses over the deep canyon which the main highway passes right over. There is a short loop road with easy driving and with great lookout stops along the way. At the entrance they will provide you with an informed pamphlet/map of each 5 stops. This State park also provides a picnic area and restrooms. This was a fun stop for us.
Maria P — Google review
Loved this park! We were the only ones there. $7 entrance fee (good for all state parks for the day I believe). No one there so it was a self-pay station. The walk to the bridge is short but the falls are directly under you. Continue walking for maybe a 1/2 mile (or less) to a better view point. Yes, you hear I-84 the whole time but you feel like you're out in the middle of nowhere. Amazing views. The lighting is probably better in the late afternoon or evening. Great park with a playground and such nearby as well.
Cody E — Google review
In the middle of nowhere and after driving at least 30 minutes out of our way we were not impressed. It is a deep Gorge with water running through it to then a dam. $7 to get. Spent 10 minutes at three overlooks.
Angelica H — Google review
We loved this park. The whole area is interesting to visit, but easy to drive right past on I-84. We highly recommend you take the time to see this park and the area around it.

We have had such a wonderful time here. Mostly thanks to Lily, the sweetest hostess we’ve met camping at a state park. So helpful and checks in on us frequently due to truck issues we had. My girls love her!!! When you think of the perfect park host-Lily is it!!! Thank you Lily!!!!!❤️
Desiree R — Google review
As the passenger I caught a glimpse of an incredible waterfall in a magnificent volcanic canyon. I yelled to my husband to pull over. We followed the signs to the State park, paid $7 and drove our 5th wheel thru the park. ITS GORGEOUS and I’m so glad we stopped.

Visitor Center: Thousand Springs State Park & Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument

Visitor center
Nature & Parks
Interagency visitor center with information & exhibits about local history, fossils & recreational opportunities.
Small museum but the park rangers working there were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history and geology. There was a 20 minute movie that was also very good. Small gift shop and fossils on display.
Karen L — Google review
A small visitors center with great fossils and a small gift shop. The ranger was very helpful on what the park has and doesn’t have. It’s paired with an Idaho state park associated with the Oregon trail. The trail is also part of the national park structure but is run by the state.
Eric H — Google review
Small but beautiful visitors center with a brief history of the fossil beds. No access to the fossil beds themselves. The rangers provide a lot of good information about view points and hiking available within the park.
Alyssa B — Google review
It is rather small. They have some fossils and some replicas. I drove down towards the sight where they were found that was a nice place by the river. The dam area just north of the center has nice river views. Very pretty area.
J P — Google review
They are at separate locations, very cool to see water coming out of a rock wall. I visited 2 of the sites and wish I could have gone to all of them. It is very interesting to see. Easy walking.
Julie H — Google review
Nice place! Had great info from the ladies at the desk, I usually blow right past visitors centers but this one is a must stop to see all the state parks in the area. Lots of activities for kids too!
Samantha S — Google review
Small visitor center with information on fossil beds. There is not direct access to the fossil bed but good amount of fossils are shown in the visitor center itself.
Valanka F — Google review
Beautiful rest area views with clean bathrooms and friendly folks visiting. The only complaint was the GIANT Mormon crickets ( I believe that's what they were!) The crickets were all over in the shade areas and trying to get into the bathroom. Thank goodness these crickets are seasonal! I recommend stopping at this beautiful rest stop it's perfect if you're an 18 wheeler driver or pulling an RV.

Worth taking an afternoon to explore. The river carves out a uneque canyon from the lava flows. Leaving beautifully sculpted rocks. Wear good shooes as the river bed is uneaven and can be very slippery. Their is a small parkimg aria you can access the canyon from, parking their is free.

Went in July, water was flowing pretty fast. Lots of really cool rocks to see. There is a nice walking path with a bench to view Dinosaur Ridge, and Wedge Butte. Didnt see any snakes.
Jessica S — Google review
It’s magical! I felt like I was stepping into another universe. This place is only accessible November-March. The water is flowing after these dates and the canyon is not accessible. It’s easy to find and not a complex little hike. I’ve included the signed at the stop to best explain the formations. I’ve never seen anything like it.
LISA H — Google review
It was super awesome. Hiking down in between the black rocks is so cool. An experience to feel and witness.
Alix C — Google review
Such a fun place to come. I bring my little kids, some places are hard to climb over rocks but it’s always an adventure. I’ve never seen the canal with water but would love to one day.!
K-18K-16 B — Google review
Absolutely beautiful little canyon. The way the water has shaped the rocks over the years is breath taking. The whole family had a blast. Can't wait to go back and explore some more.
Beau A — Google review
The better access point to the Black Magic Canyon is at the old dam. 43°04'28.5"N 114°18'20.1"W 43.074586, -114.305579 Roads are pretty good but the last few miles are on dirt road. Park right at the dam. Bring good shoes and gloves, points of the canyon do require scrambling. Great place to poke around in the fall.

Just went and the river is raging. No access. Picnic area nearby. Guess it's good for a quick stop and to stretch your legs.

Miracle Hot Springs

Recreation center
Nature & Parks
Campsite with RV sites, canvas domes & group tent areas at geothermal spring pools.
This is a great place to relax. The pools are warm and the rooms are great for a couple wanting to get away from everyone else. The rooms also have individual controls so you can make it warmer or cooler. Also the massages they offer are fantastic! Great for a family or just a couples get away!

Nice stop along our trip from west coast Oregon to Colorado. Good place to chill, soak, & balance from roadtrip weary. Showers are nice but small and not overly clean but price for a spot for us to stretch and kids to get some jitters out. Staff was very friendly. Water temps were great. Atmosphere was lovely. Sun bathing. Chess and checkers as options is super fun idea. Also ice cream to go how awesome before getting back on the road. There is camping and yurts to stay in on the property which is beautiful. River is running near by. No service though unless you booked to stay with them as a warning. That is my negative star as i was hoping to look up a few dinner options on our route.
Hope A — Google review
The pools are clean and well-maintained, and the temperature is just right without being overwhelming. Depending on the time of day, you may even have the place to yourself, which adds to the sense of tranquility. It is an incredible reminder of nature’s ability to heal and recharge us. Highly recommended for anyone passing through the area or seeking a quiet outdoor adventure.

It was my first time coming to a hot spring & I am glad I have tried it . Can’t thank enough for my hubby for bringing me here for my birthday. I don’t know how to swim lol & didn’t know how I feel about it . But my hubby had to drag me out from the water lol ! I had a blast , that was one of the most romantic things I ever did with my husband. One of my fond memories & can’t back to try it again . So every time we come to visit my in-laws I will definitely try to come back . It’s a perfect romantic gateway , they also have pool & overnight staying . He was already planning about staying at night next time . Can’t wait to come back . The reason I took out one star is because of the customer service, it needs a lot of improvements. And the restroom stinks , I almost throw up trying to go inside . We had a long drive going back so I hold my breath & just hurry up. That experience was horrendous!

Miracle Springs is truly amazing! Charming location and facilities. Private baths include the main pools for a low price! Super helpful staff with long term ownership. Plenty of parking and adjacent camp sites. Closed on Sundays. Busy Saturday especially at night. Senior discounts.

Pretty good hot pools. 4 pools of various temperatures, but only 1 that I'd really call hot. The rest were 101-102F or below. No cold plunge pool either, which was disappointing. Facility was in good shape, restrooms were clean.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely disappointing experience – rude staff and zero compassion I booked a stay at Hot Miracle Springs at Twin Falls to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, and unfortunately it turned into a nightmare. I accidentally selected the wrong date when making the reservation, and when I realized the mistake, I called to fix it. The staff on the phone were shockingly rude and completely unhelpful. They refused to let me adjust the booking, wouldn’t offer a refund, and told me that if I still wanted to go, I’d have to pay for an entirely new reservation — they wouldn’t even recognize the money I had already paid. I explained that this was supposed to be a special occasion and that I couldn’t afford to pay twice, but they showed zero empathy or flexibility. The entire interaction left me feeling disrespected and extremely disappointed. I would never recommend this place to anyone. There are plenty of other hot springs and resorts that actually treat their guests with kindness and understanding — go anywhere else but here.
Laura P — Google review
Worst staff I've ever delt with. I was denied soaking in a private room that I booked in advanced and drove 2 hours for because my brother was 1 month away from being 19 and im 21. 2 weeks ago this wasn't an issue. 2 weeks before that it also wasn't an issue. 10 years ago it wasn't an issue. Will never be returning!

Balanced Rock Park

Nature & Parks
Geologic Formations
Great place to camp or picnic on a hot day. Cross the highway from campground (one minute) and down the gravel path is a "pond-like" swimming holes suitable for dogs. It smells of oil due to piping of thermal water uphill, but you likely won't see a single soul, and I think the water element is just as pretty as the creek at the park minus the gorgeous birds.
Angela — Google review
I can’t add much to the other reviews except, if you are mobility challenged, you can get a great view from the parking lot while your companions clamber to their heart’s content.

A beautiful park, stunning view of the stone giants! So colorful and magnetic! My husband can't help climbing to the balanced work, but it's easy to enjoy it from the road too.

This is one is a master piece . Get ready for a very hard trail if you are not that Fit and the trail is quite steep at length of almost a mile and if you are wondering if it is worth it don’t you dare !! Keep your camera ready for pictures and videos if you are entering from Buhl. Splendid view is on the cards. Trail is a bit mess with trash and smashed particles of glass pieces take care Get your self a nice trek shoe or climbing shoe this is a pro trip wear gloves on winter day visits. Enjoy the pictures!!!
Sriram S — Google review
I am so glad I visited here, it was a 30 minute drive but worth it. It had a little trail we walked about 30 minutes and the campground was nice. I also spent way too much time chasing and catching lizards. I loved it. We saw fish in the river and climbed the rocks. I would be careful of watching littles if you're going to be by the river as there is no beach or area and it's deceptively deep. But there are places away and we were fine with kids raging from 18 months to 9. But a good note none the less. It wasn't too awful and had shade. The toilets were upgraded outhouse but were clean and if you enjoy a breeze up your bum you'll love it. Overall, a good use of several hours. No cell service personally, but not far from where it cut off.
Tess K — Google review
I strongly recommend wearing closed-toe shoes because there are a lot of red ants while you climb toward to the balanced rock. It is a great attraction and view, and be careful when you climb. You do not want to slip and fall off, haha.
Ray B — Google review
Balanced Rock and its corresponding park are spectacular. The little park is a quiet shady oasis in the middle of the high desert. It is peaceful, on the waters edge, and set in a deep canyon. There is a small playground, waterspigots, some covered picnic tables and about 16 campsites. Perfection for an Idaho summer outing.
