Review for April 2021. Mount San Jacinto State Park. A California State Park. The first thing I want to mention is the fact that the weather changes significantly from the Coachella Valley floor to the top of the aerial Tramway in Palm Springs. Also known as San Jacinto Mountain Range. I'm not guilty, to say that I absolutely enjoy the change of weather. It was pretty hot on the valley floor but when I got here I should have brought a sweater at least. Nevertheless it was a wonderful experience and I did the five mile hike Trail. Definitely recommend is for any Adventure Seekers out there

Hiked to the tram area with son. Starting at 4am we made it by noon taking many breaks to love the views. Weren’t prepped to go to peak -another 5 or so miles but will be going again in few weeks, weather permitting to bag that peak!!!!

I visited here in January 2019. While palm springs is desert, the top of mountain was covered with snow. And tram which automatically turns around was fantastic.

The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens spans over 1,000 acres of desert ecosystem and features a bighorn sheep enclosure along with small animal exhibits. It's located near various attractions such as Hovley Soccer Park, Desert Willow Golf Resort, and Civic Center Park. Visitors can enjoy feeding giraffes at the zoo, which is renowned as one of the top zoos in the country.
So beautiful! There’s so many different animals from all over the world. I think they did amazing with their conservation message. I was pleasantly surprised with how much space the animals had. It almost made me happy that I couldn’t see some of them. We were able to see keepers do training and talk with them as well. Overall super fun place!
BREZY — Google review
A hot 90° but pleasant trip to the Living Desert zoo & Gardens. It was off season on a Tuesday afternoon, so it wasn't crowded at all. We were able to take our time. I really enjoyed their model trains and miniature city! Learn names of the plants & Cacti. The big cats are beautiful. Visited the nutrition center and vet hospital. We saw a bunch of baby tortoise, the 2 new super cute baby giraffe, 2 wallaby with joeys in their pouches. And a new comer, a badger. There was a ton of construction happening, so I'll have to come back when that's finished to see the new lion exhibit and during the season when its bustling! Super friendly staff and feed the giraffe.
Valerie P — Google review
Visited here with my boyfriend, mom and toddler. We’re from out of town and were skeptical about spending $40 each to get in, but I’m so glad we did. We spent a couple hours there and easily could have spent some extra time there. They let you feed the giraffes which I thought was so cool and probably the highlight for me. They just had babies in September so that was also really cool. We were there at just the right time as they just added an exhibit for monkeys. I love me some monkeys. They also recently added a splash pad for kids to play at and that was a great little stop to cool down for my little one. I loved how open the exhibits were and how much extra space the animals had comparative to some of the other zoos I’ve been to. Highly recommend checking this zoo out.
Katie T — Google review
This place is absolutely amazing. You can tell this is a sanctuary for animals and not a place where they are put on display. The staff care so much for these animals and it shows. My husband and I visit every year and we also love to come for the holiday light fest they have at night during late November through December. It’s such a gorgeous place to visit and walk through. Literally fun for all ages. I fed the giraffes this time too and it was so awesome to be so up close with them. You can also be up close with the wallaby’s in their enclosure and watch them hop around which was so fun.
Sierra C — Google review
We found this on our visit to Palm Springs and decided to take a couple hours out of our day and go. Ticketing was very easy and there was no line to speak of. Loved the way the grounds were laid out and the different fauna and flora, the towering palm trees, the agaves, aloes and the different types of desert plant life. We were surprised to see as many active animals as we did and the number of animals was impressive. The gentleman at the rhino exhibit took his time and gave us lots of info on the rhino’s. Fun and informative way to spend a coupe hours while in the Palm Springs area.
Scott C — Google review
Excellent place for all ages! Great interactions with the animals and staff. Plenty of places to eat or bring your own food and drink. Handicap accessible for a majority of the park. There are several unpaved trails that take you through the botanical cactus deserts. There is also a beginner half mile hiking trail accessible inside the park. Plenty of trees for shade while walking around the park. plenty if chairs and benches throughout the park. You could stay there all day and relax watching the animals. Will definitely make the trip to visit again!
Buttons P — Google review
We were there for the first time this morning. What a great zoo! It is extremely clean and well organized. The animal enclosures and habitats were great. The volunteer man who was working at the bobcat exhibit was excellent! He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Those two bobcats we're adorable. We will definitely be back!

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

Mountain cable car
Transportation
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway offers a unique experience, taking visitors on a scenic journey through Chino Canyon to the mountain station. The tram cars rotate as they ascend over 1 mile, providing breathtaking views of the Coachella Valley and its nine cities. Once at the mountain station, visitors can explore Mount San Jacinto State Park with its 50 miles of hiking trails, observation decks, natural history museum, and documentary theaters.
Absolutely incredible experience! The Aerial Tramway is a must-do in Palm Springs. The ride up the mountain was smooth, breathtaking, and surprisingly peaceful. The rotating tram gives you 360° views of the desert, cliffs, and forest—unlike anything else. At the top, the temperature was refreshingly cool and the views were spectacular. Whether you're up for a hike, a bite to eat, or just want to take in the scenery, it's well worth the trip. Staff were friendly and organized, and everything felt safe and well-maintained. Truly one of the highlights of my visit to Palm Springs. Don’t miss it!
Cindy A — Google review
View and ride up was spectacular. Did a 2 mile hike. Be aware it's much colder up there than where you park. After our hike the tram had electrical issues. Luckily we weren't stuck on it. It was down for several hours. Luckily it was back online that evening to take us down.
Anthony L — Google review
The tram is a fun experience and lifts you 8500 feet above the desert to a much cooler environment. We hiked to the summit of San Jacinto. We moved fast but if you are going to hike be prepared with water and some food. Also be prepared to scramble up some boulders at the summit! The mountains are covered with a forest providing some shade. Wear good shoes for hiking
Mark C — Google review
This was an awesome experience, and Gil, our tram operator, was fantastic. My friend was having issues with vertigo, and he handled it wonderfully. There was music playing, the view was magnificent, and even though it was quite a bit colder up top, the views made it more than worth it. The dine option with the ticket was okay. The food was basic, but for a few dollars more, it's good. I have a milk allergy, so I was unable to get the mashed potatoes, meatloaf, or lasagna, but they had chicken. It had a good flavor, but was very dry. The veggies & salad were pretty tasty, and the potatoes were just OK. No rave reviews, but for the price okay. Overall, with the tram, hike, ambiance, and friendly staff, I would definitely recommend trying this.
Tiffany J — Google review
The experience was excellent. There was no wind to speak of and the ride was super smooth going both ways, but steep and perhaps no ideal for people who are sensitive to heights. The views in the car and ontop of the mountain are spectacular. The food was well above average. The hike opportunities are nice and not very strenuous, although the high altitude and the thinner air will exert your body disproportionally. Would recommend the ride to anyone who is not fazed by heights.
Dimitrios T — Google review
I went on a business meeting and had one spare day so decided to and see the tramway. It was an amazing experience specially that tramway rotate while climbing using wires and pulley. Huge difference in temperature on top of the hill so always bring a good jacket. Ticket was 35 USD, but you have to wait minimum 1 hour. There is no public transportation so us UBER.
Sabi K — Google review
What an incredible experience. The tram ride itself was fun. Parking is designated. The place is clean and well maintained. And the staff were all great. The hike and views in the area is easy even kids enjoyed.
Emil P — Google review
This is a must do in Palm Springs. The tram has a rotating floor that continuously rotates which gives you a 360⁰ view. If you have a fear of heights, stay towards the middle of the tram and away from the windows! Once you make it to the top, there are restrooms and a restaurant available. The temperature is significantly cooler than at the bottom of the mountain. There are several overlook spots offering great photo opportunities!

Nice sized museum for this city. It feels like they keep it well maintained. I enjoyed the various art exhibitions but the outside sculpture garden was my favorite part. Pretty contemporary but fun!
Lois O — Google review
Fantastic museum! Three levels of completely different art from Native American to Modern! Sculpture to paintings! Also currently two very exciting exhibitions are on display. With 2 beautiful sculpture gardens that have been created that are stunningly peaceful and a place to sit and just take in their beauty! Outside too is the famous Aluminaire House..well worth a view! The staff are knowledgeable and helpful and make for a pleasant and comfortable visit.

Walking through the Palm Springs Art Museum feels like stepping into a dream woven from imagination, light, and meaning. Every turn invites you to pause, reflect, and feel something new. 1. The Tower of Plates – A tall spiral of soft yellow bowls, stacked with gentle motion like a dance paused mid-twirl. It feels playful and peaceful — like balancing the everyday with the infinite. 2. The Sitting Couple – So real, you almost say hello. But they’re sculptures — a tribute to quiet moments, rest, and togetherness. There’s something comforting in their calm. 3. The Painted Man and the World – A large figure with bright colors and a globe at his feet. It speaks of responsibility, hope, and the weight of being human. It feels like a reminder: the world is in our hands. 4. The Red Heart Seat – Bold, soft, and shaped like love. Whether it’s a chair, a sculpture, or both — it radiates joy. It’s the kind of piece that makes kids smile and artists stop to think. 5. The Upper Gallery View – Smooth floors, open light, and a graceful path around sculptures that feel like guardians of time. There’s space to breathe here. 6. The Starburst Chandelier – A sculpture above, reaching out like a frozen firework or cosmic flower. It brings energy to the ceiling, like light suspended mid-bloom. 7. Etched Faces in Grey – Delicate lines form quiet faces — as if the wall is remembering stories from another time. Subtle, thoughtful, and timeless. 8. The Glowing Core Artwork – A burst of color and light layered over blueprints and dreams. It feels like electricity made poetic — like the spirit of invention glowing from the inside out. 9. The Mountain Sculpture – Earthy, raw, and textured. Like a piece of nature brought indoors to tell its story. You don’t just look at it — you feel it. 10. The Seated Figure of Squares – Made of many blocks, yet whole and strong. Sitting with arms around knees — like someone thinking deeply. Peaceful. Present. Beautiful in its stillness. ⸻ Final Reflection: PSAM is a place for thinkers, feelers, and wanderers. It doesn’t shout. It invites. Whether you’re wide awake or walking between worlds, it welcomes your gaze with kindness and color. Update: “Originally gave 5 stars based on what I thought was a positive experience. But after being unexpectedly fired and realizing how fake the environment really was, I can no longer recommend this place. Disappointed and hurt by how things turned out.”
Authentic R — Google review
The Palm Springs Art Museum is an absolute gem and a must-visit for anyone in the area. Tucked beautifully against the San Jacinto Mountains, the museum's location alone is breathtaking, but the treasures inside are what truly make it a world-class institution. The collection is incredibly diverse and thoughtfully curated, offering a fantastic journey through modern and contemporary art, as well as significant Native American and Western American works. I was particularly impressed by the glass sculptures and the outdoor sculpture garden, which feels like a serene extension of the desert landscape itself. The building's architecture is a work of art in its own right, with its clean lines and open spaces perfectly complementing the pieces on display. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, allowing you to take your time and truly connect with the art. The staff is also exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, adding to the welcoming experience. Whether you're a seasoned art aficionado or just looking for a peaceful and inspiring way to spend an afternoon, the Palm Springs Art Museum exceeds all expectations. It's a five-star experience from start to finish.
Neon P — Google review
Beautifully curated collection, with some very unique pieces. The sculpture garden is small but very well designed with beautiful sculptures of different media (blown glass, aluminum, metal). It was a perfect way to enjoy a couple of hours before hotel check-in.
Josefa Y — Google review
I ended up here since they have free admission on Thursdays 5-8pm. They had a live DJ and a bunch of wonderful exhibits to check out. Definitely worth checking out if you have some spare time.
Sandra M — Google review
I have been going to the Palm Springs Art Museum for over thirty years. It rocks and rolls with me. The Palm Springs Art Museum rocks because it perfectly blends a diverse, world-class collection with the unique architectural heritage of the Coachella Valley. It rocks because it challenges your mind. The museum rocks because it combines internationally important modern art with a dedicated focus on the unique architectural style and rich Native American history of its desert location. The important thing about The Palm 🌴 Springs Museum of Art is that it rocks your mind and soothes your soul.

I enjoy the walk, the art, the vendors that sell authentic art, nothing here is fake it is all handmade and artistic and I love that. If you want to have a nice walk and enjoy art as much as I do, go and enjoy the evening every Thursday from 6-10pm.

This place is a RIP off... they charged my kids the same price for 2 different tattoos.. one kid had 2 small turtles and the other had both hands done... they were both bad , quickly done didnt look anything like the pic they showed. wouldn't re-do or give the money back... live the street fair but I will never go back to the henna place and do not recommend anyone to go there unless they have the gentleman do the work.

We absolutely love visiting the Palm Springs area this time of year. The Thursday night Villagefest it's always a great way to spend the evening. great food, great shopping. Something for everyone
Mr B — Google review
Awesome street fair in Palm Springs! Every Thursday locals gather to showcase their businesses. Food, art, music, and much more as you walk down the street. Vendors are offering free samples and the food is impressive. We purchased mini donuts which were heavenly. We also got clam chowder that was prefect for the chilly evening! Going back next week to try more foods!
Brittany G — Google review
Not the office, Villagefest itself. No longer glamorous, Palm Springs is no longer interesting, mostly just hucksters trying to pawn off clip art as originals for $500-$9000 and other junk sellers. A few bright lights among the (some awful) live musicians: the wonderful sounding Native man playing wood flutes, etc. Buy a CD. How do you find downtown Palm Springs? It's where the Walgreens and Motel 6's get closer together. But seriously, if you're not over 80 you probably don't want to be here (and probably if you're 80+ as well).

Absolutely enjoyed having breakfast here for the first time—we liked it so much, we went back! It did not disappoint. The food is delicious, the ambiance is great, and the service is excellent. Definitely recommend! Don’t let the exterior fool you - it’s a great place!!!

I came to try their Dates milkshake, and buy some Dates. The 2Ib was for $25 so i passed. The milkshake was not make to order, I was supervised when he handed to me almost immediately, it was really frozen and hard to drink, it was for $9.95 and that was more than the average, and there was nothing special about it. They sell different made in house syrups and sauce and some cake. I did not try them I felt that they were overpriced. There was plenty of parking

The food is tasty (typical American food), and the shakes are a must. Too sweet for my taste, but I see the appeal.

Very good restaurant and the personnel are very friendly to everyone and the outside environment is perfect to people who visit palm dessert. One thing you MUST try is the date shake and everything is awesome. It’s not to big portions and not to small. Very good restaurant MUST TRY!!!

We went for breakfast and had a great experience. The Date Shakes were absolutely delicious—definitely a highlight. We also tried the green sauce chilaquiles with carne asada and really enjoyed them. There's a shop on-site where you can browse their merchandise, souvenirs, and a variety of date products. Inside the shop, there’s also a café if you’re just looking for a drink. I’d definitely return, even if it’s just for another date milkshake.

Beautiful spot nestled into the desert oasis. Outdoor seating for most. Service was amazing, and it was busy. The walk was nice and the shop has tons of goodies. The food was amazing. We started with the stuffed, bacon wrapped dates...delish! Chicken and waffles were outstanding. Highly recommended, enjoy!

We had a very yummy lunch. We sat on the patio which was lovely. The weather was perfect that day. I had the benedict with fruit on the side, it was delicious. The grounds were nice to walk around. The date shakes were also a must have!! Our young kids enjoyed it too.

Early morning breakfast, I came with friends at 8:30am and was only the 2nd people here...by the time I left it was completely full, no tables by 10:30am. They have plenty of parking with overflow parking on the east side of the parking lot under the palm trees. The service and our waiter were amazing, we were served fast, and our server was attentive to our needs, there was 8 of us, so we used 2 tables. Breakfast was good, nothing fancy, just good breakfast. The grounds are beautiful, and the weather was nice for an early morning breakfast with friends...side note....it is Fly season and they were out in abundance trying to catch a bite so be aware of the pesky things.

It’s a beautiful place! Everything is in one — nature, charming shops, cozy restaurants — there’s something for everyone. The view was breathtaking, even in the cold. The way the clouds drifted over the water was absolutely magical. I’d only been here in warm weather before, but this visit felt truly special.

Beautiful place and Good people. I had a wonderful experience they have some BOMB food! Only downside is that the stores are low-key expensive. 60-80 dollars for a sweater. But good souvenirs! I went during the summer and during the winter. Both are amazing times to go! 💯/10

The village was underconstruction as they are working to rennovate the little shopping area! I highly recommend walking around the lake and checking out all the little shops! The lake was absolutely gorgeous and clear and you could see all the fish and the ducks! The stores around the lake sold delicious duck food (for the duckies friends of course). So many people had their dogs with them and the shops also had water bowls out for the dogs which was so thoughtful. All the shops didn't allow pets in the store but allowed service animals of course.

Lake arrowhead village is like a fairytale village* I can imagine how beautiful it looks during Christmas with lights everywhere. The food was great, you should they the coffee and lots of beautiful clothing and souvenir stores.

I adore this place so much, it’s beautiful. So many little cool shops. As an Arkansas native. This is my little escape town to feel like home. It’s so quite and peaceful. Everyone is so nice. Can’t recommend lake arrow head and crest line more!

It is a delightful destination for anyone looking to relax and enjoy a peaceful escape. The picturesque views of the lake, surrounded by lush pine trees, create a serene and beautiful atmosphere. The village offers a great mix of activities, from boutique shops and local artisans to restaurants with lakefront dining. Whether you're in the mood for a casual stroll, enjoying live music, or indulging in some delicious treats, there’s something for everyone. I especially loved the boat tours—they give you an incredible perspective of the lake and its surroundings. Parking is convenient, and the village has plenty of family-friendly attractions, making it a great spot for a weekend getaway. Whether you’re shopping, dining, or simply soaking in the views, Lake Arrowhead Village is a perfect destination for all ages.

There's a variety of shops here from clothing to food to an art gallery. Nice view of the lake. Some shops have duck food so you can go out and throw food at the ducks and also watch the huge rainbow trout swim just underneath the water. There is also a lot of construction going on so hopefully they'll be more different types of businesses here. A lot of people walk dogs around the area so maybe a pet supplies shop.

Snow Summit is a top choice for winter sports enthusiasts in Big Bear Lake, Southern California. With 33 runs, night riding options, terrain parks, and even a climbing wall, it's a long-running and popular destination. The resort offers over 240 acres of skiable terrain catering to all skill levels from beginners to advanced riders.
Ever since the park was upgraded it definitely became better. It also costs a lot more than it used to for a lift ticket but the amenities are better as well. I've been snowboarding here for decades at this point and recently started mountain biking. Overall the park is great. The staff are also good, maybe a little grouchy or standoffish at times but not enough to write home about. Overall a great place for all seasons and will be back.

Went up the "scenic sky chair" lift as a summer activity while on vacation. If you are on vacation and looking for another activity to do with the kids. I paid $86.00 for three adults and a 12 year old to take the lift to the top. We were hoping to do some hiking but there were only two trails available and they are not shaded so we didn't do much. There is a restaurant at the top and food options but it is also a great place to just bring a picnic and enjoy the views. During the summer it is a huge mountain bike area and almost all of the people going up where bringing their bikes. The basic ticket only allows for one round trip. I wish it was unlimited as the views coming down are awesome.
Adam W — Google review
Everything was a great experience! Parking guides got us in a space quickly. Getting our tickets and bikes on the lift was a breeze. Awesome variety of trails to ride on well marked trails. The good is reasonably priced for being at a resort and better than most places I've experienced. I'm already looking forward to my next trip here

We had a great time at Above the Boom! It does get a little chilly. So, as they recommend, dress in layers. Also, even though it said no food and drink. A bottle of water and maybe some kids snacks seemed acceptable. They were not overly strict. We supported them purchasing our tickets, and additional beverages including water.

We always come here whenever we visit Big Bear. The resort offers year-round outdoor activities. The things you do here are unlimited, from skiing and snowboarding in the winter, to mountain biking and hiking the rest of the year. There are several different dining options from fast-food to more upscale bars and restaurants (opening times vary with the seasons). One of the activities we like to do in the spring and fall is taking the chairlift to the summit and enjoying the view while eating lunch. There is plenty of parking along with a multitude of stores, ski/snowboard rentals, a child amusement center and plenty of trails for biking and hiking.

Terrible experience. Came here from Vegas for my son‘s birthday. Got a rental bike and immediately first run down the brakes are already worn down and just super loud. I took a relatively easy way down and when I got to the bottom I noticed one of my spokes had come out. My chain also came off but I didn’t notice it until my second ride down. So I’m just trying to get down the mountain at this point cuz I can’t pedal and then I get down and they tell me the derailer needs to be replaced and I can pay $110 to get my bike back. And I’m like all of this happened on one ride down and now I have to pay $110 after already having paid $200 for the day. I fought it so hard, spoke to every person there that I could about getting my bike back or at that point just getting a refund and leaving, no leniency whatsoever. The bike rental experience there was absolutely miserable, the bike i was given was terrible. Do not rent from this place. Also, my son’s ride card was deactivated at one point and we had to go back to the ticket booth to get a new one. last so much time just trying to get going. If I could give negative stars I would. Spent all this money to come up here just for the bike to break down after one green run.

The bike repair shop did a great service for my bike! Joshua found the problem, repaired it, and explained how it should be shifting. Took it for a test ride and shifting was perfect! At a fair price!!! Thanks guys!

Nestled in Big Bear Lake, the Big Bear Alpine Zoo is not your typical zoo. It serves as a refuge for wildlife in need, rehabilitating orphaned, injured, or imprinted animals with the goal of releasing them back into their natural habitat. Since its establishment in 1959, this non-profit organization has been dedicated to caring for local species like bald eagles, black bears, and arctic foxes.
This was such a cute zoo!! 10/10 for sure. The animals looked happy and you could even see some trainers feeding and helping the animals throughout their space. Overall my family and I had a great time. My daughter in specific wanted to visit a zoo for some time now and she was very happy how the animals looked well kept. We also got to learn about skunks and it was very informative per one of the trainers.Cant wait to visit again and bring my older daughter to experience this zoo herself !See you next time!!!
Celiboy V — Google review
This is a wonderful place to visit, regardless of whether you live in Big Bear or just here for a visit. And if you have children, they will love the experience. According to what we read online, this zoo is one of two Alpine zoos in the United States, which provide a refuge for wild animals that cannot be released back into the wild for a variety of reasons as well as specializing in the rehabilitation and release of local Alpine species. They also offer educational training programs, special events and exhibits concerning their mission. There are restrooms onsite along with a gift shop and free parking. Just beware that the zoo does not open until 1000 hours, and in the warmer months, you might not be able to see many of the 190+ animals they have since it is sometimes getting too hot during the day. We will try again this fall when the weather is cooler. We did, however, get to see a wonderful bear education demonstration with one of the trainers and Eleanor, what an informative speech by the trainer. We even witness just how fast a bear can move, which was an eye opener for all of us present. We highly recommend this zoo for people of all ages and appreciate all the staff in their efforts to care for these animals and educate the public.
Thomas B — Google review
Visited the zoo for the first time and LOVED it! We spent about 2 hours at the zoo, casually walking around to learn & observe the animals. The bears, especially the grizzly, were the best! Caught most of the presentation on the skunks which was super interesting. The little skunks were fun to watch scurrying around for the meal worms while the docent shared a wealth of info. At the end, we decided to become annual members so we could visit the zoo & Big Bear more often. The cost of 2 adult tickets was $34 ($17 each), but you can buy a couples pass for the year for just $90. Looking forward to our next visit!
Tanya N — Google review
We visited on a Friday afternoon. Upon a recommendation by a local cashier, we visited around feeding time (2pm-ish). Although it is a small zoo with only locally indigenous creatures, every animal was out and visible, some moving about, some lounging. Gift shop prices were reasonable, compared with other gift shops. The premises were clean and festively decorated for the holidays. Also there is a $1 discount ea. for a group of 10 or more.
Valerie K — Google review
Not a huge zoo but perfect for a quick outing with little ones. Plenty of room to look at the animals. We never felt crowded. Everything seem well maintained and the zoo grounds were clean. Plenty of parking. Clean restrooms.
Marianne — Google review
This little zoo is very sweet, a fun little outing with the kids. My only suggestion is to go early in the morning when it’s cooler and when the animals are awake. We made the mistake of going in the heat of the day and many of the animals had found their shady spots, I don’t blame them! Definitely worth a visit!
Barnum A — Google review
Not disappointed at all! All of the animals were well taken care of. Even in the summer they had misters, fresh water and shade for all animals. Everyone looked well fed and happy and thats what I look for in a zoo! I understand that all animals were rescues which I love. 10/10 Zoo better for kiddos.
Brigette A — Google review
This place is awesome. As this is a rehabilitation center you can tell the keepers are so passionate about giving their animals the very best care. They have some beautiful exotic animals and indigenous as well. Lots to see and the place is not overwhelmingly big. Highly recommend the after hours nocturnal tour! Thanks Dar!

Hidden Valley Nature Trail Trailhead offers a picturesque 1-mile hiking loop with stunning rock formations and panoramic views of Joshua trees and the desert landscape. This easy and flat trail provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the iconic Joshua Tree scenery. The trail is rumored to have been used by cattle ranchers in the 19th century as a hiding spot for their herds, adding an enchanting element to the experience.
Arrived at 9am on Memorial Day, and there were at least a 100 people on the trail already. This is a very easy and very popular hike. Took us around half an hour to walk the mile. Don't really need hiking boots or even shoes for this hike. The signs around the vegetation are all pretty descriptive and we spent time at each. Saw some squirrels and lizards too. There was a volunteer ranger going around with advice and giving more information. Good sized parking lot, and it's a short trail, so should always be people going out in the next few minutes. We were able to find a spot right away at 9am on Memorial Day.
Vipul S — Google review
It’s an interesting area of the park - the most fertile in terms of vegetation and someone used to support grazing at one point! The trail here is very poorly marked - only a mile loop that takes maybe 20-30 minutes. It’s pretty easy to walk through and there’s minimal elevation changes but there’s so many curves and turns that are not noted or lack signs.
Kevin W — Google review
Hidden Valley Trail is a 1-mile loop with about 100 feet of elevation gain. The path is clear and easy to follow. Super good way to knock out amazing views of the park in a shorter amount of time. You pass massive boulders, Joshua trees, and desert plants. Short side trails lead to rock formations. Signs share the history of cattle rustlers hiding herds here.
Jess R — Google review
It is beautiful and easy to walk. We saw some people hiking up the hills. There are restrooms and also a camping ground. We had a great time and I would recommend stopping by, although it is not outstanding compared to the rest. Hope you will enjoy it! Lots of parking space available:)

This review is about stargazing at night at Hidden Valley. My go-to first stop for stargazing. Could have driven to Arch Rock but the rock and surrounding Joshua trees formed great backdrop when taking Milky Way photos! Can be a little crowded at night, so be prepared to have your photos tinted red from folks exiting the parking lot or from distant traffic along the main route.

Really loved this loop! First time experiencing JTNP and this was a fantastic hike. It’s easy and you really get to experience what JTNP is all about. We went in the evening and it wasn’t too hot and wasn’t crowded.

This trail is Majestic. If your schedule only permits a short hike, this is the one to take. It is wonderful that Joshua Tree National Park allows all type of rock climbing from repelling to free form. Be safe and have fun.

Skull Rock Trail in Joshua Tree National Park is a short and enjoyable hike that leads to a natural rock formation resembling a human skull, complete with eye sockets. The trail offers an up-close encounter with the unique desert environment, weaving through fascinating rock formations and Joshua trees. While the rock can be seen from the main road, taking the 1.5-mile nature trail loop allows visitors to explore more of the area's whimsical beauty.
It was almost dark, and I was trying to find Skull Rock from Jumbo Rocks. But I didn’t have internet, so I probably walked right past it without knowing! Still, the walk was amazing, especially at that time of day. The desert colors at sunset were so beautiful, everything looked like it was glowing. The road next to the trail was really quiet, so I could just enjoy the peace and the view. Special place to be!
Nemanja Z — Google review
Great loop. About halfway through the trail there’s an option to take a short detour to see skull rock. About 2.5 miles. Very scenic, weather was perfect. Not super steep, but was uphill and had few stairs/step areas along the route. Rocky path.
Besan Z — Google review
The huge climbing rocks are super grippy here, which is great for kids or beginner hikers! I feel like there weren’t as many actual Joshua trees inside the park as there were while driving there, but that’s ok. You’ve seen one, you’ve seen ‘em all, am I right?
Jillian P — Google review

Skull rock as a located along the main east-west park road in Joshua Tree National Park. Skull Rock is a favorite stop for park visitors. So you’ll always meet people there. You can just park across the road from the rock to see it and take pictures or you can take a 1.7-mile hike. Nature trail begins either just across from the entrance to Jumbo Rocks Campground or inside the campground, across from the amphitheater. One side is rocky the other side is full of desert plants. You can learn a lot about all the plants alongside the trail.
Agnieszka P — Google review
This rock formation is literally about 20 feet from the road. You can stay in your vehicle and take pictures but that's not fun. It truly does look like a skull. As always during hot/warm weather reminder to have water no matter what!
Nelson M — Google review
The skull rock formation is right by road. No hike necessary. We did the trail loop, which part of it is paved through the campground area. Once you cross the road you’re back on sandy ground. Lots of places to rock scramble if you want too. Easy hike for all levels. Parking can be full by 10am..even on the side of the road. Potties can be found going through camp ground.

Such a gorgeous place! So many great views. You can definitely let loose and be adventurous with climbing rocks. Our trip was super spontaneous, so we weren't fully prepared as far as bringing snacks and food. They do have restrooms here and there. Definitely well kept. We loved visiting the park, though we picked an extremely hot day! Luckily, you can easily drive through and stop at the key viewpoints. Just be sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen—it’s easy to get dehydrated. There are also several short hikes around a mile long if you’re up for a walk!

The people working at the Joshua tree visitor center were all very friendly and very helpful. Our Daughters took part in the junior ranger program and the ranger that helped them was very nice! Unique pitstop featuring many tree-shaped sculptures made from glass bottles & vintage items.
I've seen pictures of this places but totally forgot where it was. I was driving down Route 66 and saw it and had to stop by! There are soo many bottles and tons of fun things to look for. I played "I Spy" with my kids. It was really fun. Highly recommend stopping by on your way north or south on I-15. It's only about 5 minutes from the interstate.
Adam C — Google review
Cool place to checkout if you're out this way. It gets hot so make sure you have some water. A hat and sunglasses are advisable if sunny. The artist is super creative and the place is entertaining. We had a good time looking at all the different sculptures created out of the glass bottles and metal.
Karen U — Google review
A fun stop on Rt 66! There is plenty to look at between the antiques, bottles, jeep and signs. The owners do an amazing job maintaining the lot. This particular stop caught my attention during the drive with the sun going down and it hit the bottles just right with all the different colors.
Melissa T — Google review
Went out of my way to see this unique attraction along route 66. I have been to a similar rock garden, but obviously this place uses bottles. They had unique artifacts such as an antique fridge and typewriter. There is a donation bucket a little further into the attraction, so if you like it and want to keep it going I'd recommend making any donation. Spent about five minutes there, didn't see anyone other than a couple of visitors. Just stop here, it takes a few minutes and is uniquely weird.

Did a quick visit on this place our way to Las Vegas, its unique, excellent artistry. I was amazed on someone would take time to collect bottles and antiques and turn it into an awesome art. Nice place to take selfies. Family enjoyed our time.

Such an unexpected little gem. We came across this while driving along part of Route 66, went for a wander and loved it!
Phil M — Google review
Located right on historic Route 66, which I-15 replaced, this is a really quirky and fun stop. It’s free and also really creative and shows artistic skill. Was built by artist Elmer Long who started in 2000 with his first tree and now there are over 200. Sadly he passed away in 2019 but his art remains. It is now owned and operated by his family so when visiting please be respectful because you are on someone’s private property. The gate was open when we arrived, and there was only one other person there taking pictures. There are all sorts of little things to see within the bottle trees, and it was a nice stop during our journey. There’s plenty of parking right out front, but as mentioned, I would make sure to not leave anything behind or play music too loud because you’re right in front of and on someone’s property. I would definitely recommend and would stop again next time I’m in the area.

The Outlets at Barstow, also known as Tanger Outlets Barstow, is a popular shopping destination featuring a wide variety of brand-name and designer outlet stores. Visitors can explore an array of stores offering clothing, accessories, and more at discounted prices. The mall is home to well-known brands such as Nike, Coach, Calvin Klein, Vans, and others. Additionally, the outlets provide amenities like multiple vending machines and water sprinklers for a comfortable shopping experience.
Great selection of shops seeming out in the Californian desert. Plenty of parking and convenience of restrooms, vending machines and benches scattered around. A good variety of budget and luxury shops, all offering competitive pricing. Well situated just off of Route 66 and a great rest stop when making the drive from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. Would definitely recommend stopping by for a look around.
Gabriel C — Google review
Overall, Barstow Outlets is a solid stopover if you're looking to grab some deals or just stretch your legs during a road trip. Not a destination in itself, but definitely worth checking out on the way. Barstow Outlets is a convenient shopping stop if you're traveling between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Located just off the I-15, it's a smaller outlet center compared to big ones like Ontario Mills or Desert Hills, but it offers a good selection of popular brands like Nike, Coach, Levi’s, Guess, and Michael Kors. The atmosphere is laid-back and generally not too crowded, which makes browsing and shopping more comfortable. You can often find good discounts, especially during holiday sales. That said, some stores may feel limited in variety or stock depending on the season. There are clean restrooms and plenty of parking, which is a plus. Food options are minimal though—mostly fast food or vending machines—so it's better for a short shopping break rather than a full day out.
Lim Y — Google review
The Outlets at Barstow offer a convenient shopping stop for travelers with a decent mix of brand-name stores and free RV parking. While it’s easy to access off I-15, the food options are limited and its got some decent stores despite being a smaller outlets compared to LA and Vegas.
J C — Google review
Great variety and it makes a nice stop on the way back to Vegas. The best part is you can pull up directly in front of the store you want, pop in and pop out. No need to meander through an entire mall to get to the 1 store you want. Ariat seems like a new addition 😍

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is a truly great outlet! 🛍️ We had such a good time shopping here. Old Navy was our favorite — friendly staff, great deals, and a really nice atmosphere. Ralph Lauren was also good, though unfortunately there weren’t that many deeply discounted items. They’ve got Samsonite, Levi’s, and pretty much everything else you might need — all in one place. Definitely worth visiting if you’re looking for good brands and solid prices! 👕🧳💸

I will start by saying no where near the number of stores that used to be here when the outlets were behind these on the other side of the road. OK yes I am dating myself. You got good exercise. The number of stores is growing here now. They are nice stores here. Keep in mind not all of the stores are actually an outlet. But this place is still worth the stop if coming or going from Vegas or if you live in the high desert. Lots of good places to eat around the outlets as well. Like the original Del Taco. Yes much better than the chain stores.

Bagdad Cafe

Quirky roadside cafe featured in the namesake film has buffalo burgers, cheesesteaks, beer & more.
Apparently a Route 66 historical attraction (it’s got its own wiki page). I visited first thing in the morning, so my review is just on the exterior aesthetics, which were cool
Matt B — Google review
The Bagdad Cafe is back - 7am to 7pm hours. Mark has done a great job of restoring the old Route 66 & Movie landmark. If you saw what it looked like as the roof failed, it is simply amazing with all of the flags back on the ceiling and the walls look great. And the hospitality is second-to-none. Got my picture taken behind the counter and a souvenir postcard of myself along with my Route 66 socks. He said the bathroom renovation is nearly done. Kitchen is still closed. There is a GoFundMe to support the renovations.

Bagdad Café is a legendary Route 66 stop with a cinematic soul. It was made famous by the 1987 cult German-American film of the same name. This roadside diner offers a slice of cinematic history filled with memorabilia, signatures from global travelers, and a warm and welcoming vibe. The decor is delightfully eccentric with business cards on the walls, vintage photos, and a jukebox that still hums with desert charm. Whether you're a movie buff, a road tripper, or just chasing the spirit of the open highway, this place delivers nostalgia. When I visited the Café, only coffee and non-alcoholic cold drinks were available. Andrea Pruett, the owner, is determined to keep the cafe open and running as a tourist attraction for photo opportunities, drinks, and souvenirs, allowing visitors to see the movie's iconic interior.

Ghost Towns
Calico is a deserted town situated in the Calico Mountains of San Bernardino County, California. It was established in 1881 as a center of silver mining and rapidly grew into a thriving settlement with hundreds of mines and numerous drinking establishments. Over time, the town lost its importance as mining activities dwindled, eventually leading to its abandonment.

Geologic Formations
Kelso Dunes is a vast expanse of sandy hills covering 45 square miles within the Mojave National Preserve. The dunes are surrounded by scrub brush, Joshua trees, and striking red-black cinder cones. Accessing the dunes requires driving on a three-mile gravel road to reach the trailhead, where there are two restrooms and limited cell reception. The straightforward three-mile out-and-back hike is entirely on sand, which will inevitably fill your shoes.
This is a really amazing dune field and the highest dune has some amazing views into the surrounding mountains. There are trail up to this dune is hiking on sand, and aim towards the saddle to your right for an easier hike.

I think about these dunes so often because they were unforgettable and an amazing experience. The hike to the top took a few hours and the end was incredibly worth it. There were a few people, but not crowded at all which I enjoy. The view at the top was amazing, the sand was cold and refreshing and the hike back was super relaxing and chill. We camped here with an amazing view of the dunes at sunset as well. Campsite was completely ours, peaceful, and clean. Such a beautiful place, I definitely recommend stopping by here.

This giant dune includes a huge mountainous hill and the surrounding desert. You can get fairly close to it from a dirt road, but you’ll need to hike the remainder.
Matt B — Google review
Amazing place. We parked our trailer here for a couple of nights and had a great hike to the top of the dunes. The pit toilets were clean and there were plenty of camping spots with fire rings.
David S — Google review
Really cool to see the sand dunes. I went in early March and the weather was great. It’s a 3 or 4 mile drive on a dirt road but it was better than the dirt road to the lava tube. There are pit toilets at the parking location. Be prepared to walk a long way in sand to get close to the dunes. It was fun to see the animal tracks in the sand as well.

We arrived late in the evening and did not climb to the top. One day we will return and conquer these dunes.😁

We've been here several times.. last week May 5 revisited, and we surprised the camground in the dunes itself was empty, mind u still get chilled around the date we visited it drops to 60-55F at night and we are not that prepared! Coming from phx, where is getting hot there, but the area is still beautiful and lots of flowers blooming of cors still spring time, the road there is kinda bad even its partial cemented .. ▪︎Fee: No ▪︎Campground: (we dont pay, so i guess it's free). There are several public bathrooms ▪︎WIFI: Verizon users.. 1 bar 4G to none, mahbe when u go up in the dunes or drive at least to where u can catch any cignal
Rv_life_Road_Travel_ ( — Google review
To get to the kelso dunes you drive through Mojave a bit then have to drive on a well maintained dirt road all the way to the dunes. I know it looks cool and fun in the pictures, but the hike to the dunes is no joke. Would not recommend going during the summer. It probably takes 20-30 minutes to get to the skirts of the dune. And is probably a 2 hour hike to the top of it. This hike is no joke. The dunes are very steep and is extremely tiring just to make 10 yards of progress. The reward and views at the end are absolutely worth it though. Jumping or rolling down a huge sand dune is a part of the reward on the way back.

The World's Tallest Thermometer

Mentioned on

Landmark
Sights & Landmarks
The World's Tallest Thermometer, located in Baker, stands at 134 feet tall and commemorates the hottest day in Death Valley when the temperature reached 134 degrees Fahrenheit in 1913. Originally built in 1991, it fell into disuse due to high electric bills but was revived and made operational again in 2014. Visitors can now see the working temperature as they drive by and explore a gift shop and diner at its base.
What a hot stop in Baker, California! We pulled over to see the World's Tallest Thermometer, and it's even more epic in person. This towering landmark isn't just for show; it commemorates the scorching 134°F record from nearby Death Valley. Phew, it felt almost that hot today, hitting 107°F! We hit the jackpot meeting Billy, who was an absolute gem! He gave us the lowdown on the thermometer's impressive stats (it's huge and heavy!) and even snapped a perfect pic of us. What a legend! Beyond the awesome photo op, this stop has it all. Clean toilets were a lifesaver, and we snagged some cool t-shirts and a much-needed beer cooler from the gift shop. Plus, a quick game of checkers made for a fun, relaxed break. Definitely a super stop on our California adventure!
Paul M — Google review
It’s tall, seems to be accurate! The first time I stopped, the man behind the counter was very friendly and took the temperature of the frying pan outside and it was only 126° not hot enough to cook an egg. Stopped by a few days later on my way back from San Diego and someone else was working and she was not very friendly. What may be my perspective of friendliness changed after being San Diego because everyone there is super recovery and friendly. Either way the giant thermometer is worth a stop if you like to see the world‘s largest things and get a souvenir. The variety of T-shirts is impressive. But if you don’t care for a souvenir, you can easily see it as you drive past it on the highway.
Kati H — Google review
Summary - this is one of the strange things that you only find in America and it was extremely good and fun to see. There is a gift shop next door and the visit was made all the better by Billy who works there and was more than happy to chat about life, the universe and everything! It is, quite simply, a huge thermometer just off the main freeway. It's in a small and interesting town and we got there after driving through the Mojave desert. There is a quite large gift shop right next door which has lots of quirky interesting gifts. However the highlight was Billy who works there and was more than happy to chat about politics, people, the town, the thermometer and just about everything else! This made the visit very enjoyable. If you're in the area then please go and visit. You won't be disappointed.

Baker California is a super Quirky blip on the map. Here stands the world's largest thermometer and the UFO Hotel and Alien Jerky Shop. Definitely with the pull off as you trek to or from Las Vegas. You could even find You Tubes one and only #Wonderhussy out there.
Colin A — Google review
Interesting place to stop and look at the thermometer. Best viewed from a distance. You can't read the temperature from close up. There is a cool Alien type restaurant over the road too.
Charlotte W — Google review
Pure Americana roadside attraction. Must see for Route 66 and other fans of a bygone age. Several other nearby attractions as well. DQ, Tesla chargers, and UFOs!

It's fun to stop and appreciate odd things. It's truly a tall thermometer. The gift shop is small but has a few expected items. Making silly memories along our travels.

Gentleman behind the counter was great. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Just little disappointed that the thermometer had to be replaced and is now just digital.

Alien Fresh Jerky is a convenient stop located off Hwy 5, featuring a remodeled store with expanded interior for more product displays. The store offers a large variety of jerky, snacks, candies, and souvenirs. Visitors are greeted by fun alien characters at the entrance and can also see a flying saucer. The customer service is excellent. Additionally, there are exciting developments such as the construction of a future alien hotel or attraction.
If you love aliens or Jerky this is the place to go. Nice stop in Baker California with a variety of jerky and a nice shop that sells alien things. When we we re there they were building a new spaceship building so in back so I don't know if that's open yet or what it was for. Cool fun interesting place. Lots of free parking.
Mud L — Google review
Jerky is always pretty good and they have a fun gift shop! Save some money when leaving Vegas or hit it on the way in cause it's easy to drop 50 to 100 bucks there, lots of fun stuff and tasty treats to buy! They added a giant UFO out back since the last time I was there not sure what their doing with that unless thats their way off this rock?
Madd M — Google review
Alien Fresh Jerky has alot of novelty items to purchase but they really have a big selection on beef jerky. It's fun to just look around and see all different items for sale. Now they even have a UFO Hotel but we didn't get a chance to go inside. If your traveling from California to Vegas or vice versa then I would recommend stopping by and checking out all the cool and interesting alien merchandise and novelty items.
Luis L — Google review
We stopped here on our way back from Vegas, and it turned out to be a really fun and quirky little pit stop! If you’re into alien-themed souvenirs or just enjoy checking out unique roadside attractions, this place is definitely worth a visit. The shop is full of all kinds of interesting and funny alien merchandise everything from candy and pickled garlic to T-shirts, sodas, and all sorts of novelty items you won’t find anywhere else. It’s one of those places that’s perfect for stretching your legs, browsing around, and having a few laughs while discovering all the weird and creative stuff they have. It’s a cool, lighthearted spot that captures that classic “road trip vibe,” and it makes for some fun photo opportunities too. Whether you’re a believer in extraterrestrials or just someone who enjoys checking out offbeat roadside stops, this is a great little place to visit on your way through!
NAVi A — Google review
Neat-lookin’ little place, full of all kinds of jerky you probably don’t wanna eat. If them aliens ever come down here, I reckon they’ll think it’s their own salty hide they’ve been sellin’.
Yaniv B — Google review
I've stopped in Baker many times in my life on the way, too, and from Vegas. This is the first time I stopped at Alien Fresh Jerky. It was 118 degrees this day, and I needed a drink, and to stretch my legs. What a fun place. There are lots of interesting knick-nacks, plenty of drinks, souvenirs, and of course Jerry!
Dustin L — Google review
Out of This World Jerky! 👽🔥 Alien Fresh Jerky is hands down one of the coolest pit stops in the galaxy! We stopped by on our road trip and ended up spending way more time here than planned, and for good reason. The jerky? INSANE. So many flavors to choose from, and every bite was packed with flavor. Spicy, sweet, smokywhatever your taste buds are into, they’ve got you covered. The store itself is like a mini alien theme park. Giant UFOs, alien statues, and even a spaceship-looking building, it’s like Roswell meets roadside Americana. Totally Instagram-worthy. Plus, the merch and snacks are awesome too. You can grab alien hot sauce, freeze-dried ice cream, and all kinds of wild stuff. Definitely not your average jerky stop. If you're cruising through Baker, CA, do yourself a favor and beam into Alien Fresh Jerky. It’s weird, it’s wild, and it’s 100% worth it. 🛸👾🌌

If you need a break from driving, I’d definitely recommend stopping at Alien Fresh Jerky Novelty Store. It was a great little pit stop that gave us a fun break from the road. The store is packed with all kinds of quirky, alien-themed goodies to keep you smiling—from T-shirts, stickers, and stuffies to snacks, jerky, and all sorts of nick-nacks. If you’re into that alien vibe, this place is a must-visit!

China Ranch Date Farm & Bakery is a family-run organic date farm nestled in a lush oasis in the middle of the desert. It's located just south of Tecopa and can be reached by driving about 50 miles north on Death Valley Road. The farm is fed by the Armagosa River and offers activities such as hiking, bird-watching, and exploring national land trails. Visitors rave about the delicious milkshakes, cookies, and other goodies available at the bakery.
We really enjoyed the hiking & date shakes. Trails offer amazing scenery with some shade by the river & very few people. The road leading to the farm is mostly unpaved & bumpy/narrow/windy but not terrible, just need to be careful. We had a small rental car & it was fine. Highly recommend visiting!

Super fun! Get the Date smoothie it was the best. They also had a great gift shop with lots of fun things and crystals! Hope they are in business forever! Very serious drive there and back but completely worth it. Go in a truck if you have one but the sedan i was in made it and saw another sedan leaving.

This place is gorgeous! Like an oasis in the dessert. The drive down was even scenic with historical markers for old gypsum mines. The store was cute and the staff were friendly. My husband LOVED his coffee and chocolate date shake. We bought some mixed dates to snack on while we drove around Death Valley National Park. I highly recommend China Ranch as a morning stop before you head out for the day.
Katia F — Google review
We love taking family and friends for a visit here. It's the perfect half day trip away from the city and has some really neat and unique things to see. I love the drive down the dirt road into the ranch area. That in itself is a cool experience, especially if you're not from the desert. The "museum" is basically a shed with some photos, but it's super neat history, so make sure you pop in there. The date shakes are delicious, and we love that they added coffee too! The date sampler pack is always a unique gift for those hard to buy for people. The breads and other treats are good too. I admit that I miss the old antique store in the back. Now it's mostly tourist type bulk purchased items with a few antiques mixed in. Still neat and good for trinket souvenirs but I remember the old style shop. We didn't hike the trails, but there are some there. We walked the tree area and found lots of coyote scat riddled with date pits (interesting!) Christy is a manager and she was so kind in helping answer our friends curious questions about the farm, the hanging nets and selling of the palms to anyone who's interested in planting one. Everyone I've ever taken here loves it.

Wonderful place to visit, grab some dates, date bread, and date shakes (they even have a vegan version). Great shop attached with clothing, purses, jewelry, and so much more. There's a great little hike around the back of the place. A must stop when visiting Death Valley!

This place is incredible! Get a date shake, check out their shop, and go for a hike. There are some awesome trailheads right here at the farm.

A Hidden Desert Oasis Worth the Detour We stumbled upon China Date Farm and Bakery on our way to the hot springs, and what a delightful discovery it was! The area you arrive, you feel like you’ve been transported somewhere far from the USA – the remote, tranquil setting is absolutely enchanting. The friendly staff made our visit even more special. The shop offers wonderful groceries and locally-made treats, but the real stars are their famous date shakes and date cakes. Do yourself a favor and try the date shake – it’s absolutely delicious! After enjoying your shake, take a stroll to the backyard where you’ll find a fascinating water system flowing seemingly out of nowhere in the middle of the desert. To the right , their date farm stretches out beautifully. It’s such a peaceful spot where you can hear birds singing, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot some special bird species that are unique to this area. Pro tip: Arrive early! They close around 5:00 PM, and you won’t want to miss this charming oasis. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area – it’s a memorable experience that captures the unexpected beauty of the desert!

Ordered some dates and not only did they arrive amazingly fast but free shipping. The taste is beyond fantastic and for the price I almost can’t believe the offer. If you love dates and especially if you loved going to Death Valley this hits all the right places

Primm Mall, once known as the Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas, is a unique shopping center that has seen better days. While it now features only one remaining shop, the mall still offers an intriguing experience for visitors. The expansive space showcases stunning artwork throughout its deserted halls, making it a perfect spot for an art crawl. Although the vibrant atmosphere of years past has faded, exploring this nearly empty mall can be quite captivating.
I can't believe that this mall is actually dead! I remember, back in the summer of 2013 until around 2015, this mall was alive and full of people. Stores were open, people walking around, and the food court was bright and lovingly happy. I was with my parents when we noticed the interior is completely empty. We remember it and how it was a nightmare it was because my dad used to work with someone at this location. It was HORRIBLE! But I am giving it a five-star rating to remind myself that this place brings back memories, both good and bad. And for any of you who are big fans of the backrooms, this is the spot!
Manny M — Google review
The place says it's open, google says they are open, well after a 1 hour drive, I found out that this place was "temporarily" closed. This is the most dead mall or should I say area I have ever seen in my life. I still do not understand how some stores/buildings are even open! Its too bad they cut off that mall section, I would have loved to just take a look around. What a waste of time, unfortunately!
Dylan ( — Google review
I've encountered a few dying malls in the past few years (casualties of COVID and shoppers moving to online purchasing) but this mall is completely dead. There is literally a single store (Sanithrift, a thrift store) still open, to include a completely vacant food court. The store faces are now used to display art, which is good but not worth a stop.
Charlie B — Google review
Highly recommend to visit! You will see amazing artwork there! I cannnot believe there is only one clothes shop left here.
R T — Google review
I dont know how to rate this place, it used to be so full and vibrant and was an amazing stop on the side of the road.. now it is still and empty. Michael kors and a Thrift shop are still open inside of the mall at this time, but that is it. Bathrooms are still functional, and clean.
Sunny M — Google review
** Really fun walk if you have time to burn at the supercharger! ** Model example of physical depression. Honestly such a cool space! Walking through was a lot of fun but for very different reasons than the owners would like. This is the legal way to walk through an abandoned building! 😂 the art made it feel doubly so. I counted 7 stores “open”. In quotation because none of them were actually open and a few looked like they haven’t been open in a while. This place is just begging to be a ‘con of some kind. Comic-Con, anime-con I don’t know but something! It would be a great layout and no stores to get in the way. I plan on watching to see when the building is closed for good. Too bad.
Evan M — Google review
This mall is very empty since covid affected its business. I thought it was cool walking through the mall as it gives off a vibe of being in a deserted city. There are maybe 5 or more retail shops here? I didn't count them. I enjoyed taking photos of this place.
Annette G — Google review
Almost no shops are open, no decent food to eat. It's like a ghost town... UPDATE; I was here a couple days ago, at 11:30 AM, June 6, 2024. The doors are open, the lights are on. There are NO shops open. There were NO people in the building, except 2 young women who were amazed by the emptiness of the place. The mall is nice and clean, including the newly renovated bathrooms. It seems the owner can afford to keep this place open only because he charges $1,50 per gallon more for gas than it costs 25 miles up the road.

Buffalo Bill's Resort & Casino is a laid-back accommodation option that provides complimentary Wi-Fi and parking. The resort features various dining choices, an outdoor pool, and a casino for entertainment. Guests have praised the friendly staff and newly renovated rooms, which offer good value compared to those on the Vegas strip. While some amenities may be lacking in certain rooms, overall cleanliness and comfort are highlighted as positives by visitors. Additionally, the surrounding area offers convenience with nearby fast food options and a gas station.
A massive building raising the question of how it was built. Didn't stay in a room, but stayed across 15 at Whiskey Pete's for our honeymoon night in 2004. Went back to look around here in 2025. Pete's is closed and blocked. We gambled at what's left of Buffalo Bill's, a once booming resort as well as Pete's. Bill's at one time had the roller coaster, tram across 15 and other unique attractions that have gone to the nether zone. Worth a 30 minute drive from Las Vegas, almost to the California border to imagine what this had to offer.
Fred D — Google review
The room was not very clean. Carpet wasnt vacummed, pubic hair on shower floor, poop marks in toilet. Only one wash cloth in a two queen room. Sheets were clean and both beds made, so at least theres that. My wife joked not to breakout a black light (we dont have one). Air conditioning worked good all night. No dead bugs so thats why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. Bottom line would I stay here again? Well at check in the charge was $93, whereby I was informed 50 of that was a security deposit and would be refunded. So the room was 40 something bucks. Not bad cost on a last minute saturday night reservation. We chose here cuz most the rooms on the strip were around $200. Not sure I would stay again, but it worked out cost wise for a spur of moment trip a day early to Vegas. Now we are off to Mandalay Bay for rest of trip. Just close your eyes or get drunk enough that you dont care. Good luck!

The ONLY positive thing was the front desk staff were nice. That’s about it. I don’t think I’ve honestly stayed in this awful of a hotel room before. The bathroom has a leaky shower, there is definitely hair still in the shower it’s nasty. The fan in there is broken so when you turn the light on it makes this horribly loud buzzing sound. Plus the ac thing is literally falling out of the ceiling. Next to that is a big bubble in the ceiling so who knows what kind of mold is there. Also door handle to the bathroom? Yea no that’s also broken in half! Legit no handle! Room was as bare as it could be including wires hanging from the wall where the fire alarm should be so if a fire happens your the last to know… uncomfortable beds and overall just gross.

I believe it's been closed and only reopened for the Keith Sweat concert that was going on... I wasn't there for the concert and while the concert crowd was lively, the hotel itself should close and never reopen again unless it is completely and totally remodeled.. While waiting to check in multiple people were at the front desk complaining of non working tvs, several people were booked to the SAME room as someone else... non working old air conditioners... check and it took forever...it was completely disorganized.. It's OUTDATED.. rooms are horrible.. There was some weird stain on the dresser top.. We had ONE face towel for our 2 person room. Tried to use the phone to call housekeeping directly and it didn't work.. Called the front desk and she said they'd be right up but they NEVER came .. The "casino " was more like a morgue... We were off-roading and just needed rooms for one night so I guess at $50 you get what you pay for which was less than the bare minimum... Hopefully they will remodel and give the place a major face lift otherwise they should never reopen.

Traveling for work and had a 44' Fifth Wheel in tow. Decided to book a room because of the intense heat and they offered truck parking. Check in was simple, desk worker was pleasant but not chatty. We was assigned a room (1408A), confirmed where to best park the truck/unit and headed to our room. When we turned the AC on it was rather loud but was blowing cold air. We both got cleaned up and headed downstairs for dinner. Once we returned from dinner the AC seemed to be having difficulty breathing and not blowing cold any longer. I tried calling the front desk but after several minutes on an automated hold went back to the front desk. The same desk worker assigned us another room, no real concern of the non working AC in the current room. We went back to 1408A to gather our things to go across the hall to 1409A. The AC was turned on while we moved things across the hall, about an hour later we called it a night. A few hours later, around 11 pm the room was warm and not was not cycling on. This time my husband went to the front desk, as I was overly tired and extremely irritated. A gentleman working thr front desk offered to send the engineer (maintenance) or move us rooms again. This time, we was given a room on the 1st floor, so we packed everything up again and moved. The pillows in the final room were awful compared to the prior rooms, bed was comfy enough but most importantly the AC operated as expected until we left at 6 am. The casino was pretty empty, only a few people playing on the machines. I did not see any live tables but I wasn't there to gamble. A lot of the attractions that once made this resort shine are closed, hidden behind dust and despair. I wish I could have experienced this place in its prime. Only photo I took was of Desperado All in all, I would stay here again (but request a first floor room) simply because of the commercial parking lot.
Elizabeth K — Google review
I'm honestly surprised this place is still open. There were not many people staying here on a Friday night. The facility upkeep has not been maintained and many of the "resort" amenities were not in service. Pool was closed because of high winds. It doesn't look like the roller coaster has worked in some time. The indoor river that is supposed to flow through the casino was dry. Almost all of the little food options by the Bonnie &Clyde area were shut down (it was 8pm on a Friday night). Entire casino and hotel smells like smoke. Don't go here unless it's your only option.
Jeff L — Google review
If I could give this less than one star I would. If you are here at any point during the week nothing is open. The casino is a depressing shell of what it once was. There was practically no services whatsoever, and at one point we couldn’t even tell if anyone was actually working there. The hotel room had weird stains on the wall and was super dusty. It was pretty clear it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. The only plus side I guess was that it was quiet. It honestly feels like they are just trying to squeeze every last bit of money that they can before they close it for good. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone, even if I hated them.

Pioneer Saloon

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Historic saloon turned Hollywood set offering brews, cocktails & American bites with a Texas twist.
My son had told me about this cozy little spot in Goodsprings, so we decided to head up to the town to visit Pioneer Saloon. It's been featured in many entertainment venues, including the Fallout video game series and more. The drive from Las Vegas took about 35 to 40 minutes, and there was plenty of parking. When we arrived, a crowd of people was in the back enjoying live music, but we opted to sit inside this trip. We savored the memorabilia on the walls, especially in the Fallout-dedicated area. We'd heard amazing things about the food, and we can finally say it lived up to the hype: the two burgers, fries, and drinks were phenomenal. We can't wait to come back, and maybe next time during dinner, as our waitress mentioned that at night you can see all the stars. We're looking forward to our next journey.

The Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings, Nevada (10 minutes west of Primm) is a hidden gem. The Pioneer was established in 1913 and is the oldest saloon in Clark County, Nevada — about 30 minutes south of Las Vegas on I-15. The Pioneer is a truly authentic Western saloon with its Old West vibe and Western friendliness. They serve up a variety of hamburgers and similar fare. In 1942, Hollywood star Carole Lombard (see the film “Gable & Lombard”) and others were killed in an air crash nearby. Lombard’s husband, Clark Gable, raced from Hollywood and stayed, waiting at the Pioneer Saloon bar. Ask to see the burn marks in the vintage wooden bar where a distraught Clark Gable waited anxiously for word on the fate of his wife. So the Pioneer Saloon has an amazing history and has been preserved in all its authentic vintage glory. Don’t be shocked to see patrons with a sidearm on their hip. I promise you, it ain’t for show. The game, “Fallout: New Vegas” was based at the Pioneer Saloon. Co-owner “Old Man Liver” is a fun, fascinating, engaging and successful businessman — not deserving of the term “Old.” The Pioneer recently upgraded the kitchen, so service is much more prompt that just a few months ago. And don’t miss the General Store next door, full of Las Vegas Voodoo good luck charms and trinkets.

Goodsprings AZ is right out of the old West. The Saloon is the Harvest Host location, however allowing some time to walk around the town and see the sights is well worth it. Things are pretty laid back at the Saloon. You may have to wait a bit but there is plenty of ambiance to occupy your time. If you catch the right day there may even be a band playing out back. They have a great, full bar selection with a number of beers on tap. The food menu offers a reasonable amount of choice. The meals are a good size and very tasty. Things are geared for efficiency. All drinks are served in disposable cups and all meals are served in take-away boxes.

Pioneer Saloon, open since 1913, is the oldest bar in Southern Nevada and one of the coolest stops you can make outside of Vegas. Don’t let the bikes out front scare you off, it’s not a biker bar cliché, it’s a mixed crowd of locals, tourists, characters, and curious newcomers. They’ve got a killer whiskey selection (bring your wallet), and the bartenders are awesome, friendly, fast, and generous with the pours. Outside, you’ll find plenty of seating and live music, so if that’s your vibe, plan to post up… but show up early, because this place gets packed. The food is a little pricey, but you’re really paying for the experience. Two burgers, fries, and a couple beers ran about $50—not bad when you factor in the history and ambience. Bottom line? Cool location, cool people, cool experience. We had a great time and will definitely be back.

The old man liver burger was very good even though I was over charged. Baked beans were also good but for a very small cup they were not worth the extra $3. Lots of history and a really cool old bar.

Goodsprings is exactly how Fallout NV made it out to be: warm, welcoming, a desert oasis. It was a childhood dream to visit Goodsprings one day, and I couldn’t have been more warmly welcomed by Tim & Dan. It makes me so happy that a video game developed more than a decade ago still has such a vibrant community and livened up a little village out in the Nevada desert. I‘ll never forget this experience and am super grateful for it. We went for lunch and returned in the evening for the halloween party for one of the most unique experiences we‘ve had so far.. unfortunately, I missed the Fallout event (in 2 weeks from this review‘s date) ): Thank you, Goodsprings!

Fallout Fans know how precious this place is, but until you visit you really dont know. The owner is so sweet and into the creating the vibes that draws Vault Dwellers from all over. Best time having a drink where I fought the Powder Gangers!

Where history isn’t framed it’s still breathing. A saloon that feels like a film set, only real. Cold drinks, warm welcome, and a side of legends written into the walls.. 🌎📍✈️ A must for anyone who collects memories, not souvenirs!

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Seven Magic Mountains is a desert art installation showcasing seven painted boulder totems that reach up to 35 feet in height, created by Ugo Rondinone. It provides a unique opportunity to witness the magnificent colored rocks, which cannot be fully appreciated through photos alone. The site includes facilities such as portable toilets and food trucks, and the parking lot is large enough to accommodate a considerable number of visitors. While the parking lot is unpaved, parking is relatively easy.
The Seven Magic Mountains is a stunning and colorful art installation just outside Las Vegas, and it’s absolutely worth a visit. The towering neon-painted boulders standing tall against the desert backdrop create a striking and surreal sight. It’s free to visit, easy to access from the highway, and makes for amazing photos—especially around sunrise or sunset when the colors pop even more. The installation feels both playful and peaceful, blending modern art with the natural desert landscape. Parking is available, though it can get crowded at peak times, so going early is best. While there isn’t much shade or amenities on-site, the experience of seeing the massive stacked rocks up close is unforgettable. Overall, it’s a quick but memorable stop—a perfect mix of art, nature, and creativity that captures the spirit of Las Vegas beyond the Strip. Get those poses ready!!!

A great spot for photos and videos! “Seven Magic Mountains” is a free public art installation by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone, located in the Ivanpah Valley desert about 10 miles south of the Las Vegas Strip. It’s easy to find, parking is simple, and entry is free. We visited from Florida while staying on the Strip — definitely worth the short drive for the colorful desert views and unique photo opportunities.

✨ Only those with an artistic heart can truly appreciate such beauty- seven magical, colorful stones standing tall amidst a silent desert, surrounded by mountains. It’s mesmerizing to witness art blend with nature’s calm. Loved capturing every moment in this vivid oasis of color and serenity. 🎨🌈🏜️ 💡 Tip: If you’re going by Uber, ask your driver to wait for your return pickup. It might save you from paying extra for another ride later- most drivers are happy to wait for a small charge while you enjoy your time there. 🚗

Awesome spot in the middle of nowhere! But there was an ice cream truck there and you had to walk from the parking to the area! A lot of people Taking pics and videos but cool to see. There’s no sidewalk so it’s a dirt trail so make sure you’re wearing walking shoes..

Seven Magic Mountains, Ugo Rondinone's monumental art installation, is an absolutely stunning sight and a perfect, free detour from the Las Vegas Strip. Also the entry is FREE!! The experience is defined by the stark, beautiful contrast between the vivid, neon-painted stacks of boulders and the vast, untamed landscape of the Mojave Desert. The real star of the show isn't just the colorful rocks, but the immense natural beauty surrounding them. Looking out, the desert area looks amazing with rolling hills and a large, flat plain area that stretches for miles, offering unobstructed views of the distant mountain ranges. The entire setting is breathtaking and incredibly photogenic, making the drive completely worth it. It’s a powerful visual statement that brings together human creativity and the sublime quietness of the natural world, resulting in a truly beautiful view.

Such a neat place to visit. It’s definitely worth a visit if you have time to check it out. They were actually taller than I had imagined in person. It’s free and there wasn’t too many people. I would definitely love to come back soon.
Shay B — Google review
Cool place to stop by, check out, and snap some photos. When I went, it was pretty crowded, so it was a bit tough to get good pictures with all the people around.
NAVi A — Google review
It makes sense to visit this art installation in person and read the artist's statements. The sculptures are very remote from freeway exits on a road parallel to the freeway. The effect is best facing the installation with the beautiful mountains of the Mojave in the background.

Ghost Towns
Nelson Ghost Town is an abandoned gold mine that offers tours and features restored buildings with retro signs, photos, and relics. It has become a popular spot for Vegas destination weddings due to its unique and picturesque backdrop. The town showcases crashed airplanes, custom automobiles, mining equipment, skulls, and even some unusual surprises in the freezer. Visitors can explore the area for a small fee and may even catch a glimpse of the guest rooms.
I don't know where to start, from the hospitality to the amazing town, then the mine itself. Make sure you have at least a few hours to stop in explore take photos, then you have to do the mine tour! There's so many cool and antique things to see it's crazy. I've never seen such a collection in one place. From inside the store where you have to stop and look in every direction, even the ceiling. The town itself has so many cool buildings and vehicles. I just can't say enough good things about this place. Take lots of water it's so hot. You definitely need to go here whether you're a photographer, a mine enthusiast or just like old and unique things. There's literally something here everyone will love. Im already looking forward to planning a return trip. GO ITS SO WORTH IT

Stop by the general store 1st! The owner will greet you, ask your intentions and give you important info about visiting. 😉 Worth the drive to see the history here; eclectic and somewhat ominous really. Drive 5 miles further to beautiful Lake Mead.
Danyelle W — Google review
Well worth the visit, acres of collectibles, mine tours, wedding venue etc. If you are into vintage this is a great spot. Owners love on site and are very friendly. Has been the site of numerous movies, music videos, photo shoots etc.

Absolutely loved visiting Nelson Ghost Town! It’s such a unique and fascinating place with so much history and character. Walking around felt like stepping back in time—old buildings, vintage cars, and tons of interesting antiques and photo spots everywhere. The staff was super friendly and shared great stories about the town’s past. It’s a photographer’s dream and a fun little adventure just outside Las Vegas. Highly recommend stopping by if you love hidden gems, quirky spots, and a glimpse of the Old West!

Nelson is a must see, especially for photographers. There are some unwritten rules. Please be sure to stop in and see the owners first, If its just to give them a tip, or pay for a day of photo shoots, it's the right thing to do. The owners a friendly amazing people who have done a lot to maintain the town and its artifacts. Take a tour of the mine when they offer it. It is worth every minute, and it is cooler underground.
Nicholas M — Google review
Amazing venue for folks who love the 'Wild West's, classic motor vehicles and memorabilia, and ghost town 'eerie' places... This place has also featured in many Hollywood movies so for the film buffs out where, this place ticks all the boxes

Nelson Ghost Town is pure magic! ✨ Stepping in here feels like traveling back in time – rusted cars, abandoned buildings, and the haunting beauty of the Nevada desert. 🌵🏚️ Every corner screams adventure and makes you reach for your camera instantly. The Techatticup Mine tour? Mind-blowing! ⛏️ You can almost hear the echoes of miners from the 1800s – history comes alive here. Whether you’re chasing epic photos, history vibes, or just a wild, off-the-beaten-path adventure, Nelson Ghost Town delivers BIG TIME. Don’t just visit – experience it! 💛

Bonnie Springs Ranch Old Nevada Western Town is a unique destination that transports visitors back to the Wild West. This offbeat attraction features an array of activities perfect for families, including themed horseback riding, a petting zoo, and entertaining mock gunfights. Guests can explore the charming saloon and wax museum while enjoying the stunning landscape surrounding this old Western-style town.
Really heart breaking to see such a great place to close 😞. Me and my family have wonderful memories there and is hard to see it go.

Impressive landscape! And that is the reason we came here to see an old Western-style Nevada town-themed attraction. Too bad we came on a Tuesday (their dark-days) but the staff allowed us to explore for free! Definitely a must see attraction if you want to get-away from Las Vegas and see something different and unique.

Always great spending time at Bonnie Spring's and great food after the fun.

I'm really sad to hear this place will be demolished to make way for yet more unwanted housing to facilitate corporate greed. This is(was) a great place to get away for a few hours, the restaurant was pretty good with decent prices, the jewel of their menu was most definitely the bison steak and the bison burger, not always available but worth the trip to find out. I've taken my kids there before and it was a great bonding experience, the town was fun to stroll around in and the shows and gun fights were fun. I wish I had gone more often. Oh and the place is haunted...I wonder if the ghosts will stay and haunt the new place....I hope they do....... Lol.... 👻

It says fully operational Wednesday thru Sunday. We are here on a warm December day. The only things open are the things that cost money like the shops. Wax museum is closed. Most exhibits are closed. This is probably the worst attraction for adults I have ever seen. The petting zoo was decent and the kids during busy season might love this place. As for adults, don't bother .

Fun place to go to for the kiddos! There is a crooked house that is fun to walk thru! Liked the wolf! Right now it's a good time to go since it's not that hot! Did not eat at the restaurant (didn't want to wait 30 mins with 2 kids) BUT the burgers smelled so good!!

Took three car loads of young children and they loved it. Parked by the train so they could ride to the petting zoo. I was disappointed because the Tanka had passed away. Everyone that worked there were great.

Park
Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, located near Red Rock Canyon in the Las Vegas Valley, offers a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, picnicking, and historical re-enactments. The park's historic ranch house, once owned by notable figures like Howard Hughes, now serves as a visitor center. Visitors can explore the lush oasis-like scenery and tranquil walks within the park while enjoying the breathtaking red-banded sandstone canyons of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
Definitely worth the $10 to get in. Lots of hiking with great views and grass you could lay in or have a picnic. The ranch house is filled with cool tidbits, and if you catch a tour you get a ton of info about the area. Plus, like, who doesn't like to see some cows? Always try to get here a couple times a year.
Meladrix — Google review
Cute area down the road from Red Rock. Since it’s outside the city the temperature is a bit cooler, and snow can even be seen here in winter sometimes. The trails are short but beautiful and there are plenty of trees and some picnic tables in the center, but watch out for animal feces. Cows and donkeys can be seen in their pen from a distance but I’m not sure if you’re able to get close to them. This is a state park, so don’t forget to check out the visitor center and get a stamp for your Nevada state parks passport! Normally the stamps are sitting out and you can do it yourself or the staff are more than happy to give you one, but I asked an employee there and she was giving my group a hard time about it. Nonetheless, we got our booklets stamped.

I have lived in town since 2010 and just recently discovered this amazing ranch. The history and beauty of it is so perfect. I am an outdoor person and I have found my newnfavorite spot. The trails are not horrible and will not kill you if your just looking for a short easy trip. The scenery is unmatched. You see so many different landscapes its almost like your in a different area for all of them. The history here is educational and the ranch house is beautiful. Learning about the Pahrump Pooling fish was also something I was not expecting. Can't wait to go back.

This place is such a hidden gem! Awesome place with plenty to explore! The hikes are very well laid out, not too hard. Green grass picnic area with tables to chill at for a perfect weather day. They do have a gift shop with a small selection of snacks. Plenty of parking as well. It’s $10 for Nevada residents per 1 vehicle. Bathrooms are on site as well!

Best hidden gem I've found so far in the Las Vegas valley. This had the best hiking trails in the ash grove trees for my young hikers. The historical farmhouse had so much to learn. Thank you staff for showing us the beautiful land.

You MUST come at least once if you live in Las Vegas. This is the 50th year anniversary of Super Summer Theatre. You will not regret the trip. Bring your eats and booze or get them there. They have food trucks and con sessions. Such a wonderful evening under the 🌟 You can hear the wild donkeys 🫏 after the sun goes down. 10/10 recommend .

Pioneer Day at Spring Mt Ranch. Stayed about an hour and a half two hours. Should have brought a picnic lunch... Saw couple of donkeys on the way up there. Even a baby! We ate some fresh butter, lassoed a bull, pan handled for gold, figured out knots, cleaned clothes on a board, made a "voodoo" pioneer doll and pinwheel, made some soap, and a lot more.... it was cool.
Kimberly B — Google review
The rangers there are SO RUDE! They followed us around in their truck… I had a camera that I recently bought just to take simple photos & they asked me if I’m a professional or amateur photographer. Why does that matter? They told us we couldn’t go outside the white fence. There’s white fences EVERYWHERE??? 🤣 anyway, it’s pretty here. But make sure you don’t piss them off. They didn’t kick us out, but that’s only because there was 10 minutes left till closing.

M Resort Spa Casino is an upscale lodging with modern rooms and casual dining options, as well as bars, pools, and a complimentary airport shuttle. The M Pool spans over 100,000 square feet and features two infinity-edge pools surrounded by palm trees and tropical landscaping. It offers upgraded amenities such as Day Beds, Cabanas, and food and beverage services. The family-friendly pool area includes two large whirlpool hot tubs and is suitable for guests of all ages.
Stayed one night, August 8. Nice, clean room and beautiful property. Beds and linens were soft and comfortable. The mountain/desert views to the south were stunning. The pool, even on a Friday was pleasant and kid friendly. The property is far away from much of anything. This is a place you go to get away from it all. Gaming floor was large and lots of empty seats even for a Friday night and reasonable minimums. Great stay and great place to stay.

Nice place to stay out of town away from the Vegas craziness. Overall vibe is very relaxed and surprisingly quiet. We didn't gamble so I can't comment on the casino. Easy to get in/out and plenty of close parking. The room was large with a nice mountain view. Room was clean, bed was comfy, though the room did look a bit worn/well-used, and there was some mold in the shower. There wasn't a microwave - we missed that - there was a small fridge. All the staff was very pleasant. Lots of amenities around - cafes, restaurants, spa, pool, etc. Food was just OK, not great, reasonably priced, so was worth it for the convenience a few times, but if you're looking for great dining, I'd look elsewhere. Would definitely stay here again for any off-the-strip activities.

We have stayed at the M Resort for the last 16 years. Needless to say we are very happy here. Number 1 on our list is Cathleen Regalado, our host. She is over the top in helping us out. I wish we could come more often to see her. Next is Roxanne R, our on floor cocktail waitress. Even though we only see her once or twice a year, she is jolly on the spot and always remembers us by name. She always puts our name with a smiley face on our coffee cup. She is very delightful and energetic. If we don't see her first, she'll find us. Next is Eduardo at Anthony's steak house and his assistant who fills our water glasses and helps out. Very delightful to chat with and they remember us too. There are others who are very nice. The check-in staff are pleasant too. Everyone working there is nice. Only downfall are the customers who pound on the slot machine thinking it will help. Annoying but gives us a chuckle watching them. Thanks again and see you next year. Hope to stay in new addition. Need new mattresses in original hotel. Dennis and Mary C

We actually ate at the Raiders tavern & grill- food as well as service was great! No complaints. We always enjoy staying at the M! Thank you again for a wonderful stay!

On Veterans Day, I decided to stay at the resort somehow or another. I dropped the keys to my house out in the west parking lot. I remember putting them in a bag of mine and zipping it up, but somehow they must’ve fell out and they were found by security. I can truly say job well done, and I greatly appreciate the time and effort of the person who turned the keys in to lost and found. 🙏🏻 The resort itself is a wonderful, quiet destination, great location, always clean, never smell smoke, and enjoy my time very much. Enjoy my stay every time I come to visit. Thank you again

I'm not really sure how this place gets away with charging a $40 resort fee, specifically on comp room offers and to locals but overall in general. It's incredibly far from the strip and I have absolutely zero motivation to pay $120 on a "comp". I would love to stay there on a staycation but that's just a slap in the face considering my resort fees are waved everywhere else on comps. It's a nice hotel but just sticks it to patrons with greed and it's almost never busy. I will visit much more sparingly in the future. Do better.

A first time Guest at this off the strip Hotel Resort but I am Totally Loving this place not just for its Beautiful Property (go check out the Awesome Pool area with a HUGE Tv screen for Sports) but also for its calm, relaxed atmosphere and the Wonderful, Wonderful Customer Service from All of the Staff here! From our Positive Dinner Experience at the Italian restaurant (ask for Jack, he’ll take care of you) to Brian at the Casino Guest Services area as well as the Wonderful Staff at the Vig Deli who are so Friendly, Interactive, and just Good, down to earth Human Beings! No craziness over here like the Vegas Strip—instead, just Enjoyment (Peace & Relaxation); Positive Vibes provided by the Wonderful Staff; and very Delicious Food Options at good prices that are all freshly made daily onsiteI I even Enjoyed exercising/ walking around the property where every staff member greeted me and engaged me in conversation and with a friendly smile! Thank you M Resorts for making our stay so Positive; we Enjoy your L'Auberge Casino property in Lake Charles and this location definitely Lives up to your High Standards of Customer Service! 👍🏽
