29 Love Signs are Love Signs that are transcending all borders. My partner Katie Williams and I created these signs to spread the message of love. They locate 9 miles east of Twenty Nine Palms downtown. Go check them out.

A roadside attraction in Twentynine Palms on Highway 62 going towards Wonder Valley. This is a collaborative land art installation piece by Jacob Rafati, Katie Williams, Jose Deangulo, Cassandra Lopez, Daniel Miramontes, Shirin Abedinirad, Yosef Lule, Meitzu Chou and Anup Mutalik. There are three signs, which are two-sided each. Each sign says love in a different language with a message of love that transcends all borders.

I appreciate the work of everyday people. Its so easy to just drive by, but upon stopping I learned more about the authors and other attractions in this area. And besides who doesn't need a selfie with love!

The Cholla Cactus Garden is a must-see attraction within Joshua Tree National Park. This otherworldly area offers vibrant colors and a flat loop walking trail that allows visitors to marvel at the prickly wonders of the cacti. It's recommended to visit during sunrise to witness a truly special sight and beat the crowds to hiking trails and points of interest.
This is another beautiful trail that loops around and I personally would rate it an "easy" hike. It's literally a Cactus garden. I highly recommend and advise to NOT touch any of the cacti. They literally will stick to you. Let's just say I know from personal experience. As always I recommend staying hydrated and having water no matter the situation in hot/warm weather.
Nelson M — Google review
Joshua tree and all it has to offer is amazing. In this week's visit, we were planning for the new moon and astro photography. We parked in the lot and walked in to set up the tripod for some long exposure shots. Clear skies, perfect weather in July, summer breeze, and only one other photographer so no light noise! I couldn't have asked for a better set up!
Salvador R — Google review
This was our group's FAVORITE stop in all of Joshua Tree! We had an entire sunset photoshoot, met some Europeans flying a drone, built a rock tower, and loved walking around the cacti. Watch your feet so that you don't step on any of them! Come here during golden hour, you won't regret it! There is a nice 1/4 mile walking trail around the garden, with many chances to walk off the trail and approach cacti. Nice parking lot with no water for the public.
Dennis G — Google review
It was cool to visit there. There were bees that super bothered us, but other than that, it was cool to see the cacti and panoramic view. Even in 7 AM, the sun was unforgivingly hot.
H. P — Google review
Absolutely stunning spot! The Cholla Cactus Garden in Joshua Tree offers incredible nature and breathtaking views. The layout is perfect, you can easily capture beautiful photos without other tourists constantly in the frame. It wasn’t crowded at all during my visit (a Sunday afternoon in mid-May), which made it even more enjoyable. Definitely a must-see if you’re anywhere near Joshua Tree!
Eric G — Google review
Beautiful garden especially at sunset. Be careful with the small cacti on the ground.
Paula G — Google review
One of the most magical places on this planet. You see nature's magnificent work at its best. Hundreds and thousands of cholla cactus standing proudly in the windy air of Joshua Tree National Park. The best time to visit is during sunset or sunrise when the entire place is cast with the golden light of the desert sun. Now, be careful to keep a safe distance from these 'teddy bear' cacti and don't try to wander off the trail.
Stephan P — Google review
My favorite place in Joshua Tree NP. A beautiful garden where you can really spend some time. It's a bit tricky to find the walking paths in between the cacti, as the paths are not very clear/visible. After some time you just get that it's up to you to decide where you want to walk and how far inside of the garden do you want to get. No toilet around.

Amboy Crater

Mountain peak
Nature & Parks
One-time cone volcano at 250 ft. elevation (1,500 ft. dia.), a large lava field & hiking trails.
The earth is completely scorched in this crater, which gives really interesting views when you look at the horizon. There’s also heat warnings everywhere, if you intend to hike during the warmer parts of the year.
Matt B — Google review
Otherworldly volcano in the desert that makes for a surreal scene. It was 112° when we got there so not the right time for the 3 mi. hike, but a beautiful view from the observation deck. The lava flow goes on for miles in every direction, and we checked out the eastern edge by truck near the remnants of Bagdad. Will definitely come back here when it is hikeably cooler.
Dean H — Google review
The hike to the crater's interior and crest takes about an hour round-trip from the parking lot. The crest is pretty dangerous so children are NOT recommended for this. Proper footwear and water are essential. Also, almost the entire area is covered in pumice so if you bring your dogs, ensure they're also in proper footwear!
Charlie B — Google review
If you wanna see a killer sunset and a sky full of stars, this is the place. The silence is dense but peaceful 🙏🏻
Lindsta — Google review
A little out of the way and too hot to hike in the summer. Would like to explore it when the temperature is a little more mild. Ample parking, restrooms available and covered picnic areas. The scenery is very nice and I will blame the only 4 star rating on the timing of our visit in the heat of the summer!
Jason H — Google review
Amboy crater is a fascinating site in the desert. I remember driving out here many years ago, when we had water bags and needed a good nap. Now air conditioning and GPS makes it safer and the crater still looks the same. Enjoy the ambience of the entire desert.
Timothy B — Google review
What do you expect to do here? This place is amazing a must see a must explore location. When you arrive can park in the designated parking they have bathrooms but no washers so you must be prepared with sanitizing wipes. There is no water anywhere so please be prepared bring your water especially on hot summer days. You take the trail to the crater the walk is about a mile long to the crater and another quarter mile hike up the crater to the rim it’s an easy walk nothing too traitorous until you get to the top a bit questionable but doable and a great breathtaking scenery from the top. After take a drive to Baghdad cafe watch the movie if you haven’t yet. Have fun.
Mr M — Google review
I recently went on a moderate hike to reach the peak of Amboy Crater, and I have to say, it was definitely worth it! There was so much to see along the way, and the views from the top were absolutely stunning. If you're thinking about doing this hike, just make sure to bring plenty of water and some shade, as it can get quite hot out there. Overall, I would highly recommend the Amboy Crater hike over Pisgah - it's just so much better!

A fantastic stop on our drive from Las Vegas to Palm Springs! Incredibly friendly and helpful service, brilliant Route 66 souvenirs, a good selection of drinks and a few snacks. It was fun to see the old motel with its mid-century architecture too!
Jennifer T — Google review
I stopped in for gas and to my pleasure, the lovely Heather pumped my gas! She is super friendly and the station is full service. Too cool! Nice gift shop/store inside with cold drinks. Highly recommend stopping. Gas is cheaper than Ludlow too!
Dave W — Google review
Not ADA anywhere. No indoor bathroom. They had several porta potties and only one was handicap available sort of. My wheelchair would not fit in there and you had to go all the way inside where they don't have any ramps to get a key and have them come out with the key to unlock it for you. The other porta potties were unlocked for everybody else to use. There are no hotel rooms there for rent at all, it's not an eating Place cafe at all. They had some snack foods and some Frozen microwavable burritos, Hot Pockets and pizza. Okay I got to see it once, no real need to go back. We were only coming from Barstow just to check it out as part of Route 66 so we had our own water and stuff anyways and a full tank of gas to boot, but make sure you aren't in need of any of those things when traveling through there.
Terri S — Google review
Due to an almost empty fuel, I had to stop here. I am really glad that I did, because not only was the cashier very polite and fueled my car, but this place is a must see for tourists for Route 66! It has the markings on the road and the gasstation offers great souvenirs as well. I would really recommend this place!
Sander B — Google review
A lot of history and an iconic stop my wife and I were excited about even though it's in the middle of nowhere. Now that Mr Okura is gone, it may struggle to stay afloat. It seems like there could be a lot of potential with the café for hungry travelers, but getting water appears to be a challenge so it's hard to say if it will ever open its doors. The motel portion will take a lot of time and money to be viable, but it would be an interesting place to stay. We hope they find a new owner with the passion and resources to bring it back to it's full potential. It appears to be a great place for car shows still.
Bruce W — Google review
Stopped to get gas on my way navk home from Vegas. I only have 100 mi. Range on my motorcycle, so barely made it here. If Roy's was not here, I would habe been stranded. The cashier was super nice and pumped the premium gas without spilling a drop on my gas tank. Lovely trip back in time. They have snavks amd drinks for your road trip. Highly recommended as a planned stop.
Pat C — Google review
What a fantastic place. You can see the passion to restore this place. Do not miss this opportunity! There’s a memorial across the street to the man who worked to restore the Roy Motel and Cafe complex. Coming westbound you have to detour around the road closure, but well worth it.

Cottonwood Visitor Center

Mentioned on
+9 other lists
Visitor center
Located at the southeast corner of Joshua Tree National Park, Cottonwood Visitor Center serves as a gateway to the park's trails and features a gift shop and informative displays. It is recommended to stop by the center before venturing into the park to gather historical insights, information about park facilities, and most importantly, pick up a paper map due to limited service within the park. The center anchors an area with hiking trails leading to Mastodon Peak and Lost Palms Oasis.
This is a required stop if you are visiting the park as you will need passes. Passes are sold per vehicle. Best bargain is the 62+ Senior Lifetime pass for all of the parks - at this writing it’s $80. Inside you can find a nice assortment of tchachkis and t-shirts that help support the park. As you get past the visitors center and follow the road there are many trails to visit. Most are for 4x4 vehicles and a high clearance is recommended for some of the more challenging trails. As this is also a good place to star gaze, bring a chair, jacket and some binoculars or a telescope. Don’t forget water - any trails in a vehicle can take longer than expected- BE PREPARED! Food and snacks are also recommended.
Scott P — Google review
Nice small visitor center. We dis not need to show anything driving in on this side but when we drove out the west center we dis need to show our national park pass. Do not know if this is always the vase. Friendly people go in if you want a map of Joshua Tree park.
Jeroen J — Google review
The visitor center was staffed with friendly volunteers and they are able to help you map out your hikes and sites. We hiked about a half mile behind the center up to see the rock formations and huge tall palm trees. As soon as we reached the trees the temperature dropped about 20 degrees it was amazing. They have a nice rest room area and souvenirs.
Onthegoboomer — Google review
Passport stamps were visibly available when you enter the visitor center : a turtle stamp / palm tree stamp/ Joshua tree stamp / kid rangers stamp available. I was told they don’t have a secret stamp as of July 2025. But they are planning to have it. Can someone let me know if/when have it. Thanks. *Photos show more stamps that I collected at other visitors center. (Yucca valley / 29 palms/ Joshua tree national park visitor center as well as black rock nature center)
T. T — Google review
Always consider buying the lifetime national parks pass if you go at least once a year. Our pass got us into the park for free... The Cottonwood visitor center was clean, organized and well laid out. There's a great notice on hiking- what to take, what to do, and warnings about hydrating, since it's a dry heat and teaches 100° frequently. Nice bathrooms, a really well equipped gift shop, and personnel who know their craft. We got a nap of the whole park, and were able to navigate easily. The roads were in good condition, so no worry there. Austere, but still beautiful...
Peter P — Google review
There are a few places on earth which are simply stunning. Joshua Tree is one of them and rightfully hailed as an exceptional experience. The sweetest thing about my visit back some time ago, that one gets easily in to a conversation over the sheer awe inspiring scenic views and nature itself with co visitors/strangers. The rangers at the visitor center were super friendly and sent me on my way with a smile. I'll definitely need to return, rather sooner than later. What an experience! Well worth the price of the admission.
Thomas T — Google review
From the south entrance, the Joshua Tree National Park sign appears quickly after leaving I-10. A few miles later is the Cottonwood Visitor Center. It’s nice, stocked with maps and information. We encountered a very nice helpful young lady. But now that we’ve driven all the roads in the park, it’s clear that the best route for the tourist just passing through to see the best sights is north entrance to west or vice versa. The highest concentration of stops is clearly between these two points. There are many restrooms in these areas but only one towards the south end before the visitors center. Toward the south entrance is the Cholla Cactus Garden which is a small area loaded with Cholla. Also on that end we found the Ocotillo Patch to be more sparse and with many dead ones. We spent about 4 hours driving the routes and stopping often for photographs. We did not see a single animal in the midday heat. It is just beautiful to see all the Joshua trees and experience the place where the Mojave and Colorado deserts meet.
Phillip G — Google review
Beautiful National Park - quite busy on the weekend in the high traffic areas closest to Palm Springs. Rangers were super friendly and helpful. Plenty of easy to moderate trails that are available for hiking.

General Patton Memorial Museum

Army museum
The General Patton Memorial Museum, located just outside the park at Chiriaco Summit, is a fascinating tribute to 20th-century conflicts and the namesake general's military legacy. Despite its remote location, the museum boasts an impressive collection of battle tanks and historical artifacts related to war in the 20th century. Visitors can explore a wide array of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam era military paraphernalia while learning about General Patton's life and accomplishments.
We had a good time at the museum. I hope people take the time to stop when traveling down I-10. We drove 2 hours specifically to see the museum and some other historic markers in the area. They have good quality displays. There are a large variety of artifacts that may differ from what you would see in other WWII museums. There is a mix of items that look like they are part of personal collections. These would be things that are significant to the period and the training ground but also including more personal items that relate to the museum but also the family that donated them. This is all blended with more professionally curated displays that tell the story of the area and the war. While I like the fact that the museum sits in the area used for training it is unfortunate how far it is from a major city. A larger population of visitors and a larger pool of potential volunteers would really help this piece of history reach more people, specifically younger generations.
Chris E — Google review
We enjoyed the musuem..its a little out of the way unless you are driving past on the way to Phoenix. Lots of amazing history and very well curated info. My kids loved playing inside the tanks and other vehicles.
Andrew M — Google review
Had the privilege to go to the General Patton museum today. Man what a cool little place. Memorabilia from WW1, 2 , Korea, and vietnam. Really cool uniforms, helmets, biographies (even one about Willie the generals dog) and of course the military equipment. If you like war history and have 18 bucks you have to check it out. 5 stars.
Jason P — Google review
Super nice staff, asked them if I could take pictures of the helmets in the cabinets from the side. They unlocked and I took as many pictures as I wanted. The museum itself is not that well maintained, lots of items are not labeled or explained. Some of the tanks are broken down with labels missing.

We've been wanting to visit this for a while. It's a great little museum about Patton's life, and especially about the desert training center that housed a million soldiers east of here in CA, AZ, ,and NV during WWII. Patton chose the location of the camp. There isn't much else here, but if you are a WWII history fan, this place is a gem.
Rachel L — Google review
Without question, it's worth the drive from Palm Springs to visit. Lots of historical information and the static display will not disappoint!

Bombay Beach Ruins

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Great pieces of art some of which as meant to be art and others which have become art due to the receding water. The dock to nowhere and the paddle boats in the mud were quite amusing. We saw a SUV stuck in the mud so do NOT drive off the hard flat surfaces unless you want to get stuck.
Dov F — Google review
Of course! Here’s a refined and expressive review based on your experience, perfect for posting on Google, TripAdvisor, or social media: ⸻ Bombay Beach – Surreal, Stirring, and Completely Unforgettable Visiting Bombay Beach near the Salton Sea was easily one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had this year. It’s like stepping into a post-apocalyptic desert dreamscape—raw, decayed, and yet vibrantly alive with creativity. The entire area feels like an open-air art installation, where artists are free to express themselves in the boldest and most unconventional ways. Whether it’s political, spiritual, or just purely abstract, every piece has a voice. The beauty of Bombay Beach lies in its decadence and vastness. There’s something hauntingly poetic about how the art is scattered across the dusty landscape—odd in the best way, and random in a way that keeps you exploring. I do wish there was more work to see, but maybe that’s part of its mystique—it’s always evolving, and always slightly incomplete, like a living exhibit. It’s definitely worth noting that the air quality isn’t ideal (you’re literally right on the shores of the Salton Sea), so wearing a mask might be a good idea. But don’t let that stop you—the photo opportunities are endless, and the entire vibe is like nothing else. I drove about an hour and 20 minutes from Palm Springs, and Google Maps took me straight there with no issues. Be sure to wander not just the beach but the village too—there’s so much “junkyard art” and unexpected brilliance tucked away in corners you’d never expect. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a different kind of beauty. I can’t wait to return and capture even more.
Eric S — Google review
Worth the drive. Went in May 2025 the temp were high 90s to low 100s. It was not too hot but beta to use sunscreen. It's like an open air museum. It might be better at night when it's not hot and the solar lights at each exhibit turn on. The view of the stars will probably make the photos more breathtaking. You can climb on exhibits but just be mindful and respectful. It was not crowded. There were people around but you can have a solo time with each one to take photos because there are so many the the beach was so wide.
B V — Google review
The Bombay Beach town / resort / ruins should be approached from the artistic mindset. The town is a run down area with some folks still living there and minimal facilities. As far as the beach is concerned there aren't really any ruins and what you will find is a number of free standing art installations as well as beach campers and free spirits. Loved the experience and did it as a solo trip, which I recommend, since it let's you just observe and experience. Also don't forget that other than Bombay Beach there are a number of other abandoned places to visit around the Salton Sea.
T W — Google review
One of my favorite places to camp! Please remember that Bombay Beach is mainly private property… Please don’t ruin it for the rest of us by trashing it and destroying the beautiful art. I recommend checking out the ski Inn as well as Bombay drive-in
It’s M — Google review
If you're ever near the Salton Sea, the Bombay Beach Ruins are definitely worth a visit. It feels like you've stepped into a post-apocalyptic movie set. The scenery is eerie and strangely beautiful, with old, rusted-out trailers, decaying buildings, and quirky art installations scattered throughout. It’s not your typical tourist spot, but that’s what makes it so interesting. There’s a raw, gritty charm to the whole place. Some of the artwork is surprisingly creative, and you never know what you’ll find around the next corner. It’s definitely a “trip” to see. Just be aware—there are no real facilities, and the smell from the Salton Sea can be strong at times. Still, if you enjoy offbeat, unusual places with a lot of character, this one’s unforgettable.
Andrew M — Google review
Hesitated to come here at first because it looks like something straight out of a thriller movie but glad I did! Had no idea this place even existed but I was happy to appreciate the unique and witty art. It’s a tragedy but I’m confident this place would’ve been a hit if maintained correctly from the beginning. I know a lot of people talked about the fishy smell but it wasn’t so bad at that time. Very eery but beautiful. Went in my Civic but I recommend going in a bigger car.
Yossy — Google review
Bombay Beach is an absolute gem! I was captivated by its unique and distinctive vibe, unlike any other place I've been to. The abandoned structures and eclectic installations contribute to the charm that makes this destination truly special. Our time there was magical, spending 1-1.5 hours strolling along the beach and capturing creative shots with the myriad of installations scattered around. For photographers, it's a haven of inspiration and endless possibilities. Bombay Beach stands out as a place where the unconventional and the abandoned blend seamlessly to create an unforgettable experience. It's a must-visit for those seeking a one-of-a-kind adventure and a canvas for artistic expression.

Really awesome place. We passed some visitors and others when we were leaving. The road is well maintained and any vehicle should be able to make it. Once you're there it's easy to see why any culture would have settled there. It has everything a community would need. Very accessible and ways so happy to finally see them! The third set is not accessible to most vehicles however but a small hike if your capable should get you there..

Not a lot to see from the ground. It was very windy couldn't get any drone shots. The images are fenced in for preservation. A good thing! Satellite photos show were people have driven through them. Still a good stop. Walk out to the locations on a short path to each area.

Is worth every bit of time and effort to see them…visited the three that are fenced in but there are more further along. The fenced in ones are easily accessed even with a regular two-wheel drive, the furtherest…it would be better with four. Beautiful, haunting, mysterious and… thought provoking.

Went out to the Intaglios and it was such a beautiful experience. The kids and I enjoyed the short walk to the 3 Intaglios that are fenced in. If you have a drone you should definitely bring it to get some nice shots. Also take the time to enjoy the scenery found some beautiful rocks. This is an off the beaten path site and the turn off can be a little hard to find. Make sure to bring water during warm months. Highly recommend during this pandemic :)

What an excellent side trip into ancient history. The intaglio sculpture designs are created by scraping back the dark topsoil in a pattern to show the lighter soil underneath. Amazing designs that are hard to see from ground level and excellent to see by drone. Our visit was a 112 degree day.

We only attend when the 4h is going but every since the idiotd there got rid of the racing it is has gone down hill in entertainment quality. Now, they have these tracker races, which nearly bores you to tears. The bathrooms need better maintenance, as well. Who ever is running that place needs to step down and allow someone with better sense and vision to run it.

Excellent, free museum and gift shop! Friendly people! Many exhibits: dolls, baskets, models of dwellings, and more! Handcrafted items for sale, along with Pendleton blankets. Worth the time and free of charge. No photos permitted inside.

Very nice Museum with a great History about Parker and our Native People. Check it out! This Museum even shares about the Japanese Interment Camp that there!

11/12/22: Took my family on a Saturday afternoon about 1:30pm. The museum was closed ($5/Person Entry Fee) and the gift shop items were all made in China. I love the idea of this place more than I actually liked it. Everything is marked up. They also need to put a sign up because Google takes you to the corner of the building that you cannot enter when the entrance is really close to CVS signs. We almost left thinking Google's hours were wrong.
Amber S — Google review
This was a lovely small museum. It was beautifully laid out and designed with artifacts, history and artwork of the CRIT. Located in a strip mall next to CVS Pharmacy with small signage, it can be difficult to find, but well worth it.

Wonderful collection of pottery, beadwork and baskets made by local Native Americans from various tribes. Excellent representation of the history and culture of the Native Americans who inhabited the area.

Hi Jolly's Tomb

Military cemetery
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
It took reading a book on Arizona history to understand the significance attempt of the U.S. Army's experiments involving 77 camels and a Syrian named Hi Jolly in the 1860s to build and supply a Western wagon route from Texas to California.
Randy T — Google review
Great piece of history they don't teach in school. Easy to find worth stopping by. There are lots of other graves in the cemetery to see. If you ever get to vicksberg, check out the grave of old duglas . If you happen to be a history buff, take time to read the last camel charge for the full story.
Noah J — Google review
A little interesting bit of history here. Hi Jolly was a camel expert from Syria who was basically brought in to help test camels for use in the army because of the arid conditions in the American Southwest. He is honored here with his burial site along with others in this cemetery.
Brenda — Google review
An interesting place to stop, learn the history of Hadji Ali, a camel herder born in Syria. Hi Jolly's final resting place.
Marty F — Google review
There are not many attractions in Quartzsite but this is one. I give it five starts based on the effort that has been put forth to tell and preserve the story. There are a few things to read and a monument to see. It will not take you all day.
Joshua H — Google review
Came to see Hi Jollys Tomb, ended up walking thru most the cemetery. It's bigger than the photos make it look. Lots of interesting, old Graves. The story of Hi Jolly is on his tomb. It nice stop - give yourself about 15 mins there at least
Ruby R — Google review
I was on a day-long Geocaching adventure in the desert when we stopped by this town for some food. We looked up caches in town while we were eating and ended up finding this awesome cemetery and monument. The scenary was serene, the graveyard was quiet and I learned a lot about the history of the area by visiting this monument. I have to hope that there still might be feral camels wandering the hills out here. Somewhere.

Quartzsite Historical Society

We have the great honor of participating and the Historical Society Museum event a walk in the past. I was a tour guide. I know nothing about quartzite and this is one of the most fun way to get to learn about Quartzsite. Lynn is one of the most passionate Historical Society board members I've ever met in my entire life
Mark S — Google review
The volunteers there were great to talk with about the different exhibits! Thank you, Mike, for all the info. Great little stop to see some history of Quartzsite and its mining industry. Stuff inside and out to touch and learn about. They sell historical pamphlets and other unique items. The blacklight room to see the different minerals was a highlight to me. Seeing what the past looks like in 3D form is fascinating. It is just a small museum with a huge amount of information. Most items have been donated. While we were there, a man brought his teenage kids to show his donation to them; he was so proud to be able to do that it sounded like to me.
Tamara H — Google review
I highly recommend the Quartzite Museum. They have carefully preserved local history for future generations. The displays are unique and informative. It is free to enter and donations can be made toward the upkeep.

Fantastic place, soo much history and not enough room to put it all. The original building with fireplace in the hall room, original floor in school room/post office. This place may not be the fanciest, but the food is sure exceptional! Well worth a stop anytime you are near Wickenburg. The portions are huge, service is excellent, food is fresh and consistent every time, and it’s affordable! My favourite is the chicken huarache.
Emma F — Google review
In our search for a causal mexican restaurant we found Coyote Cafe! We were thrilled to see the various entrées. We decided on a couple plates : chorizo & egg, chiquillas, french toast, and ham & egg plate. Definitely the fuel we needed for our road trip. Plus the plates are shareable. The atmosphere is cozy and western. I highly recommend the coyote cafe!❤️
Mayra M — Google review
This is definitely a room for family style dining. Pull up a booth, they're all pretty much the same. There is no bar however they do have soft drinks and a lemonade that is pretty stout, it's my preference. The Torta De Jamon brings plentiful ham and cheese while not skimping on other toppings in the least. It's a truly delicious offering. The shrimp burrito served enchilada style is an army sized portion with shrimp and cheese in every bite. Through the door to the east of dining room are the restrooms. The mens lies behind 2 more doors. It is clean enough to do business in ehen out, but could never be my daily user.

A delightful gem in the literal middle of nowhere, between Prescott & Quartzite. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the murals were fun & bright. If you're driving along this path, we recommend visiting for lunch or dinner.

Rode the motorcycle from Phoenix to here specifically for lunch. It has the feeling of an old coffee shop with the lunch counter situated in middle of restaurant. I had a patty melt and it was very good. This place stayed consistently busy with patrons during my visit. This was definitely worth the ride and I will return.

We stumbled across this place heading back from the Grand Canyon. Took a chance because we were starving and the reviews were promising…the food was amazing and the service was great! I wish this place was closer to us! We got the Breakfast Skillet and Carne Asada Tacos. Recommend both!

Burger had good flavor, mayo was a bit heavy but all together a good choice. The iced-t was good, not stale or instant aftertaste. The kid behind the counter was attentive but not overbearing and the price was good for the amount of food we had. The stop was a welcome break on our trip through the area.

Painted Rock Petroglyph Site and Campground

Park
Nature & Parks
Outdoor area filled with prehistoric paintings carved into rocks, plus bare-bones picnic facilities.
This type of recreation area is right up my alley! Neat petroglyphs (hundreds and hundreds) to look at and a huge camping area. The campground is scan n pay style and like 90% of the sites are ginormous! No water, electricity, or dump, but there are toilets and dumpsters. We stayed two nights at the beginning of February, the weather was beautiful and the campground was only half occupied. There are handicapped sites and the toilets are accessible. There are also camp hosts on site if help is needed. Picnic tables and fire rings at each campsite.
Shauna B — Google review
Short drive off the highway on paved/graded road to one of the most concentrated collections of petroglyphs I've seen. Shaded areas, camp sites and clean bathrooms are available. A side trip diversion worth your time!
Jeffrey A — Google review
This is an incredíble pile of rocks with petroglyphs from various times and groups on them. It was apparently a popular meeting place for centuries, for ancient indigenous groups, armied, and explorers. It's especially beautiful with the rising or setting of the sun, and the play of light and shadows make many drawings stand out. There are several recognizable symbols, and even some names and dates in more recent etchings. Definitely worth seeing.
Kat B — Google review
It is one stop that is very worth the drive off Hwy 8. Very great information boards and some amazing history Petroglyphs. We also camped here in our Motorhome. Great sites and easy in and out with our 43' coach pulling our 28' enclosed trailer. All dry camping.

**🏞️ Painted Rock Petroglyph Park – A Stunning Window into Ancient History!** If you love history, art, or just the thrill of standing where ancient people once stood, **Painted Rock Petroglyph Park is an absolute must-see!** This incredible site is **packed with centuries-old petroglyphs**—carvings etched into stone by Native American cultures—all concentrated in a surprisingly small area. The sheer density of these ancient artworks makes it feel like an **open-air museum of the past**, where every rock tells a story. ### **✨ What Makes It Special:** - **A Treasure Trove of Petroglyphs:** Spirals, animals, human figures, and mysterious symbols cover the rocks, offering a **fascinating glimpse into the beliefs and lives of the people who created them**. - **Easy Accessibility:** Unlike some remote archaeological sites, this one is **easy to visit and explore**, with well-marked trails and interpretive signs (where available). - **Sacred & Historical Significance:** These carvings aren’t just art—they’re **cultural heritage**, a sacred connection to the indigenous peoples of this land. ### **😔 The Sad Reality: Modern Vandalism** It’s **heartbreaking** to see that some visitors have **defaced these ancient treasures with modern graffiti**. This isn’t just disrespectful—it’s **destructive and irreversible**. Thankfully, awareness is growing, and hopefully, future visitors will **leave only footprints and take only photos**. ### **Final Thoughts: Protect & Preserve!** Painted Rock is a **true hidden gem**, a place where history feels alive. If you visit, **tread lightly, respect the site, and help spread the word**—these petroglyphs deserve to endure for generations to come. **⭐ 5/5 Stars – An unforgettable experience (if we all do our part to keep it that way).** *"Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but awe."* 🌄

Lots to look at and contemplate on these two connected volcanic cones. Petroglyphs mostly on the south and east sides. However, the other cone has a tree that seems significant. Campground: Hassel to check in. Lots of sites. Close to petroglyphs. Bathrooms were clean.

First time coming here to camp and it wasn’t very busy thankfully as the spots are first come first serve. Was easy to pay and there are no hook ups. Most spots are large enough we brought the rv and a trailer. They even have a few spots for handicap. There was no host but it’s super clean even the pit toilets. Will definitely be coming back again.

I love this place so much! Such a laid back chill vibe in the middle of the desert. Met some cool people soaking there and made new friends. Owners were super chill. It was my second time there and I’ll definitely be back for more soaking up the vibes and the warm waters!

Decent while driving through from Sedona to Joshua Tree. I would've done a day pass as it's really affordable but I unfortunately came on a very windy day and the front desk didn't have temperatures checked for the tubs. They were nice to let me tour the area to see if I wanted to try it. The decorations, art and tubs were all organized very well. However, even though the front desk said temps were over 100 degrees, it didn't feel like it was at all. The goats, peacocks, birds were really cute and/or pretty. Noisy a bit but that's better than noisy people. Part of the reason I didn't want to stay was because I heard someone coughing a lot in the private tub and I didn't really want to get sick from them. The outside toilets are some of the cleanest outside toilets I've seen. I love that this is a clothing optional hot springs as well.
Kristin G — Google review
After 20+ miles of hiking in Sedona and Preston, combined with some gnarly off-roading, my body desperately needed a good soak. The hot springs relieved a lot of the tension and pain in my body, and it made my hair extra soft. I was fortunate to get a last minute walk-in for a private pool, the corral, which was gorgeous. The water wasn't extremely hot, but with the sun beaming down in the late morning, it was very relaxing, and again the mineral water was very therapeutic. $20 an hour, credit card machine wasn't working, so be prepared to have cash on hand just in case. Recommend calling ahead of time to make a reservation, however I was lucky and was able to get a private bath site on scene. Great bathrooms, good energy and vibe. I would come back if I was out this way again.
Cayanne M — Google review
This place was amazing. The bathrooms were clean and so was private are we got, the sunset. There are animals walking around the premises so there is a smell . The owners there are really nice. I definitely recommend going. You can call and they will explain to the pricing and whether you want a private area or to be in the communal space.
S. J — Google review
I LOVED this place. Peaceful, serene, beautiful. Matt, the owner, is so wonderful. The cost is $20 for a private soaking experience or $15 for the community, clothing optional experience. Please note, he only takes CASH! This is an absolute must if you are driving west out of Phoenix.
Erica D — Google review
Very fun place to visit and relax. Lots of cool animals, a bit of an oasis so plenty of bird watching too. Nice sunbathing spots in semi private area. Never had a problem using semi private while showing up randomly; have only ever seen 3-5 people at any time I’m there. Recommend staying overnight in a private tub if possible. Recommend to call ahead by a few weeks if doing private also.
Terry D — Google review
Any negative review is just someone trying to keep this place a secret and private for themselves. Don’t go expecting a fancy resort, expect a quaint peaceful location that’s ran by mellow people with goats, chickens and peacocks milling about. Location was very clean and tidy and had a restroom services for guests. Shared public baths ($15 per hour per person) are closed May 1st-October, so call ahead to their phone number for private bath reservation ($20 per hour per person) as I got lucky there was one available due to my set of the moment visit. “Duck Pond” bath was quiet, peaceful and felt quite secluded. Yes as other reviews mentioned there was a light hum of interested 10, but it’s a natural spring that used to be Teddy Roosevelt’s hideaway and you can’t stop encroaching city progress. I 100% will return and should have made a visit many years before., thanks for hosting El Dorado, see you again
Brian S — Google review
I hate that I can only give this a 3 star review... But unfortunately on my last visit.... Not one of the hot springs tubs in the entire place could even be considered warm.... Now I'm pretty baffled how that might be possible. The dozen times I've been there before it was always above 100°f. This wasn't even 85°f The entire place had lukewarm to cold pools/tubs. We went to camp and soak some of the day to day life pains the springs were always so good at relieving, but they did not satisfy... The facilities were great as far as the rest of the park goes. Clean restrooms, great camping experience, nice staff, it is a bit noisy from the truck stop and the highway but that didn't deter us from enjoying the time. The temperature of the tubs was the main disappointment... It's a hot springs, right?

One of my favorite climbs!!.. absolutely love this mountain!.. nice steep and steady incline with a little scramble before you reach the top. One the back side their are multiple mini cutouts that can act as a shelter or a cool place to grab a snack. Amazing views!

I went here 2 years ago and the hike was so much fun I will say it does get a little difficult at the top but it is very fun and the book at the top and bottom of the peak was cool and it is a kind of long hike but worth the time and good place to Get excersise

Excellent views. Moderate hiking at top, but easy most of the way up. Lots of fun 4WD paths as well .

I never knew this mountain existed until it was announced to be under Maricopa Regional Park. You get a great view of he mountains while driving on the Vulture Mine Road- which itself is a very scenic drive that winds through the mountains; there are safety signs to tell you when to slow down. The road was not too busy and it is a peaceful drive. No signal in certain spots and there are no gas stations close by- so make sure to have your GPS started before this area and also have your gas filled. You can explore more of these mountains by parking in the Vulture Mountain Recreations Area, or I did also see some other spots along Vulture Mine Road for parking. So far though, the trails and parking and amenities are not fully developed- not sure if this is something that is in the works...

The Desert Caballeros Western Museum in Wickenburg, Arizona is a must-visit for those interested in the town's Western heritage. With over 400 works of Western art, including pieces by renowned artists like Frederick Remington and Charles Russell, this museum has been described as a jewel filled with unexpected treasures.
We had a great time at the museum today! The paintings by Tim Cox were absolutely amazing! 💯 👍👏 The way he paints horses is remarkable! It was fun to learn how life it Wickenburg was in the 1800s! All the staff at the museum were kind, welcoming and helpful.

I'm excited to see them expand and look forward to visiting in the future.

The top portion is just an art gallery...but just wait until you go downstairs into an interactive section of the museum with recreation of buildings, a holograms in a recreation of a general store, a recreation of one of the smallest bars in America, and a saddle you can sit on. Be warned, you are able to fall out of the saddle if you don't balance yourself correctly. Overall a great Western museum that excels most in historical recreations. Staff was also nice and helpful!

An absolutely pleasant experience. I've been to Wickenburg, Arizona many times. This was the first time I went to the museum. Most of all the volunteers were kind and helpful. They had a wonderful Cowgirl exhibit and art show, but don't forget to check out their downstairs blast from the past.

BEST place to see western art pieces! I definitely did not expect any of what I saw in the museum. The museum is pretty large with different exhibits. The sculptures are genius and so are the paintings! The downstairs was also incredibly interesting. Located near Wickenburg, Arizona, the Hassayampa River Preserve spans 770 acres and is owned by the Nature Conservancy. The area has a rich history of farming and ranching, with early settlers thriving in the fertile valley of the Hassayampa River. Today, it stands as one of Arizona's last remaining riparian habitats. Visitors can explore various trails offering diverse terrain and enjoy birdwatching along the sparkling Hassayampa River.
We visited with our homeschool group. It was educational and absolutely gorgeous. My son loved the visitor center where you can touch things. And the hikes were great. My sons did stumble across a random bull just hanging out on one of the trails.

Gorgeous weather for hiking. Shady, breezy, quiet, peaceful, great exercise, mostly safe paths but be careful hiking up to the lookout. I had a walking stick. I saw a pair of mallards swimming along searching for food, hummingbirds, dragonflies, small butterflies, geckos, cottonwood seeds floating by like snow, and rippling streams. Much less water than I’ve seen in the past but still a thriving ecosystem.
Seaglass S — Google review
It's an easy walking trail, great for seniors! Pointless trail keep crossing itself and goes nowhere, feels like time loop with all the dead trees, half eaten by termite infestation! 10 bucks entrance, an hour drive each way and bit of a disappointment is what you need to expect!
H. M — Google review
Today we found ourselves out in Wickenburg again to Check out Hassayampa River Preserve. There are seven trails located here. Most a little under a mile, but if you do as we did and do all of them you’re definitely getting your workout in. There are benches throughout and plenty of shade. Definitely bring your water though because it’s already over 90. Hassayampa is home to over 280 species of birds living, nesting or migrating through the area. I wish we would’ve seen one of the many hawks who frequent there, but unfortunately didn’t today. The height of some of the trees and such were crazy. The Cottonwood Trees made it look like it was snowing on some parts of the trails with their cotton like seed/fluff and the Willows were awesome too. We spent hours here. There are spots to sit, listen and enjoy the scenery of the Hassayampa River. Fun fact the 100 or so miles the river flows are mostly underground and can only be seen here where it flows freely. One other thing I really enjoyed was the old payphone strategically placed near one of the trails closer to the water. They called it a wind phone. If you don’t know what that is it’s a disconnected phone often placed in a nature setting where you can “call” a deceased loved one offering a way to help with grief and remembrance. A concept that originated in Japan. What a great way to maybe let out things that were left unsaid. Anyhow this 770 acre preserve is definitely worth checking out. If you have a maricopa county park pass it gets you in with no fee.
Janelle — Google review
Great quick family morning trip. You will enjoy short walks "hikes" that will range in challenge levels. About 4 or 5 short trails. Children 13 and above would best be able to enjoy the idea of staying on the path and only visually admiring the beauty of the untouched preserve. Detailed nature lovers will go wild when they visit here.
Sara H — Google review
Great place to visit, cooler weather under the trees with easy trails to explore.

Great experience for all ages. Alot of educational materials in the visitor center. The kids had a great time finding all the items on the scavenger hunt. We also saw many birds. We were able to use the stroller easily on the different trails but not on the short trail up the mountain. I also purchased my annual Regional Park Pass while there.

I came here on a Sunday morning. I had a great time. The trails have lots of shade. I saw many birds and wildlife. The ranger was super friendly. There are many benches along all of the trails to take a break and to look for birds.

What does serendipitous stop.... I passed by here when I was rerouted on my route back from Phoenix. I knew immediately I had to come back for a repeat visit! It did not disappoint!

If you love history you’ll love the Gillespie Dam Bridge. We’d been riding OHV nearby and I just had to come check it out. There is a small parking lot nearby and you can walk up a small steal walk way that gives a great view of not only the bridge but the damn itself. What was once a very traveled road connecting your route to Yuma/San Diego etc it sits pretty quiet these days off old Highway 80. Complete and opening in 1927 it was primarily built with free labor from prisoners. While damaged multiple times by floods it’s never completely fell pray to the river. If you want to ride your OHV vehicles to the damn etc there are trails and can get pretty close to the water by accessing the nearby dirt area and going under the bridge. There are also petroglyphs nearby If this old highway could talk. Very cool.
Janelle — Google review
I used to love crossing this bridge as a kid. I still enjoy going across it.... The The damn used to be functional until after a big flood. Sometime in the '90s their used to be cable cars at the top of both sides of the mountains. If I remember correctly they would transport cars across before the bridge was built. There's also pretty cool Indian writings on the rocks up on the sides of the mountain there on the west side...
Kim H — Google review
Nice spot to take a break. Not a lot of parking. Buckeye spent a lot of money in the past to make this spot nice. Unfortunately, Buckeye seemed to forget about it and is starting to get run down. Can fish at the old Dam across the road.
David R — Google review
If you love old bridges like I do, then you'll dig the Gillespie Dam Bridge. Construction of the bridge started in 1925 and was completed in 1927. So it's old!!! It's a great spot for dam photos and it's absolutely free. There is a spot where there was something that looks like it had info on the bridge, but it has been vandalized. So if you're looking for something to do then all you'll need is gas money. You will definitely have one good dam time!!!

There is something very magical about this place that I cannot properly explain but it is very beautiful and extremely interesting! If it is warm enough for insects to be flying around please bring bug repellent like Off, you will thank me. For your first time go during the day wear pants and long sleeves and plan to spend just over an hour exploring the path on the North side of the bridge near the water's edge and near the dam. The area experienced a wildfire but that only makes it easier to explore around there... Well showing over by the damn notice all the flying insect-eating birds and their cool mud nests in the caveats of the dam that by the way looks like it was blown up in a movie or something🤗

The Old bridge and dam are fantastic. I love the swallow nests being built into the arches of the dam. Beautiful little oasis. I've been wanting to visit for years but never got around to it. Next I'll try kayaking the back waters. Very relaxing

Great bridge, quite and uncrowded. Graffiti out of control along with plastic bottles and beer cans (great recycling ♻️ opportunity $). Different species for birds, cranes and much more. I was told fish would not be recommended to eat due to polluted water of pesticides dairy runoff and other contamination.

Great 27 hole set up. We play this course every trip out to Arizona. Always get friendly service from the staff. The course is always in good shape. Well manicured. There are many houses close to the course so if you spray the ball off the tee you could find yourself in someone's backyard or hitting the homes. It can get windy at times as it is set in a wide open area, but you won't regret playing here.

Beautiful golf course. The greens are in mint condition, the staff is kind and friendly, and the wildlife here is amazing. We saw geese, roadrunners, quails, and even a bobcat!

Great course and friendly staff. We were able to drive some balls before we started as part of the course fee. Rental clubs also came with nice callaway golfballs to hit during play! We played Lake course 9-holes. Greens were well taken care of, holes were varying in challenges and easy to navigate even thought greens are spread out. We will be back!

Copper Canyon is a bit of a hidden gem. Designed by Schmidt-Curley, the layout is straightforward but well thought out, with fairways that give you room and greens that keep you honest. The desert views are beautiful, and the course is usually in excellent condition. It’s not as famous as the big-name Scottsdale courses, but that’s part of its charm—it feels more relaxed and less crowded. For the price and quality, it’s an excellent value round of golf.

White Tank Mountain Regional Park is the largest park in Maricopa County, covering 30,000 acres and featuring the stunning White Tank Mountains that reach heights of 4000 feet. The park offers a range of activities including biking, hiking, and horseback riding on its extensive trails. Visitors can also enjoy unique experiences such as snake feeding and moonlight hikes for both adults and families.
Was my first time to Arizona on a quick weekend trip to visit family and came to the park around sunset. Wish I had more time to explore and hike the trails to enjoy more of what the park had to offer. Looked like there were many families enjoying the camping area and the many public grill areas. I will definitely be back in the future. Beautiful, well kept park!

White Tanks park is only seven dollars to get in and they have some good trails for the family to enjoy. My wife and I took or two boys there and they have kid friendly and wheel chair accessible trails. Overall a great park. Will be returning soon.

Attended a group campout here. (We reserved a group site. ) Hadn't been out here since they paved the roads. Guessing that was 40 years ago since my last visit. Park is clean and well maintained. Bathroom and showers were clean which was great because I visited during the government shutdown and wasn't sure if the funding issues were affecting state and county parks. Lots of places to picnic and camp. Camping is 22.00 a night (dry camping. No hookups). Now that the weather is cooler, I'll definitively be back.

Beautiful scenery. And if you go the day after it rains, you can hike the waterfall trail and see a little arizona waterfall. Great place, plethora of public restrooms, well-kept and maintained roads, nice staff, and definitely a place to visit to hike, camp, and bike.

I love coming to the White Tanks when I'm in town visiting family. I'm an archaeologist and an avid birdwatcher. This park is great for both of those interests. The petroglyphs are beautiful and well preserved. The wildlife pond is great for birdwatching. It's only a 0.2 mile walk there and back. The trail is well maintained and very flat. There is one bench about halfway down the trail, and a few benches once you reach the pond. I saw six new species of birds today, which aren't found in my local area!
Brianna B — Google review
The White Tanks have always been a family favorite to hike, have a picnic, and clear your head etc. The trails are varied and can go from easy to very rustic. It doesn't matter whether you go on a sunny day or cloudy day, it's always worth it to get out into nature. Always bring more water than you think you'll need, as it's better to be prepared. Dog friendly, you see many along the trails, with people of all ages. The restrooms are always clean, and the picnic areas ready to be enjoyed as well. Grab a map if you have been here from the entry where you pay, and explore our beautiful state. Wildlife abounds, so be mindful and respectful as you might encounter critters and snakes. No need to be afraid, just be cautious of your surroundings. Stunning views, will not disappoint!

After playing a terribly conditioned Quintero, it was a pleasure to see a course that was well maintained. I recommend Verrado (Victory) course, it’s a decent layout and a great experience at a good price that won’t break the bank. After a potentially souring run in with the starter (he was having a tough day but he came around) the day opened up and we had a great round. The course winds thru some homes and there are areas next to it under construction but that comes with a growing community. The views when you have them are great and the finishing hole, awesome! I’ll be back.

Played the Founders course. This is a great desert course with great scenic views. Fun and challenging course with elevated tee boxes on the par 3's. The staff was great. Worth the drive out to Verrado.

My fiancée and I considered Verrado GC for a rehearsal dinner venue. They had a private dining room available for our event as well as a dedicated bar space and attached semi-private lawn area. These were all nice options that we did not see at other nearby venues (although at a significant rental price tag). The staff have been cordial and helpful. We will be having our rehearsal dinner here in December and will be able to experience the food, but so far customer service and ambiance are great.

Fantastic experience! For $30 in the afternoon the Founders course has to be the best summer value in the valley. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly on and off course. We felt like members at a weekday afternoon tee time, really can’t be understated how great the staff was. Can’t wait to come back!

We recently had our daughters wedding at Verrado Golf Club in April. From start to finish we were extremely pleased and impressed with their thorough planning process. Kathy Baggett is so wonderful to work with! We used a few of their preferred vendors and were very happy with them (florist, cake and DJ). The venue is absolutely stunning and all of our guests couldn't stop talking about how beautiful everything was. The ceremony and reception were outside and it was perfectly set up! In the evening they have the courtyard lit up and it creates such a pretty atmosphere. Kathy and her team did an outstanding job!! The service was impeccable throughout the entire night!! The food was delicious!! The day was perfect!! I highly recommend Verrado Golf Course and Kathy Baggett! We truly didn't have to worry about anything, it was all taken care of so we could enjoy our special day!!

Went golfing today . From the moment we drove up this place feels 5 star. Bag drop to cart to course ... all 5 star. Course was challenging but also wide enough for all players

The fairways and greens were in great shape. The greens were smooth and relatively fast. The beverage cart made several trips by our group, which was appreciated during our round in extreme heat. The course is layer out very well and the directions to each hole are excellent. I would recommend this course to all my friends.

Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium & Safari Park

Outdoor Activities
Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium & Safari Park in Glendale, Arizona boasts the state's largest collection of exotic animals, including white tigers, lions, jaguars, giraffes, monkeys, kangaroos, sharks and penguins. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as feeding giraffes and petting stingrays. The park offers rides like the log flume through the aquarium and an African safari train.
We’ve been visiting Wildlife World Zoo for years, and it’s been a joy watching it grow and expand over time. There’s always something new to see, but some of our favorites never change—like the peaceful Sky Ride and the incredible kangaroo walkabout, where you can get up close and personal with the animals. It’s one-of-a-kind. The mini coaster is a fun little thrill, and the tram ride in the back of the park is a must-do for the full experience. If you're lucky, you'll catch a glimpse of baby animals in the nursery—a heartwarming highlight every time. The walk-through aquariums are always a hit, and the fact that they’re constantly adding new features keeps things exciting for return visits. The park is clean, the animals look healthy and well-cared-for, and there’s a good mix of things to do for all ages. There’s also a petting zoo, which is perfect for younger kids, and several other rides throughout the park that add even more variety to the experience. We usually visit during the week when it’s a bit quieter, though weekends offer more attractions and activities. A great tip for families: during Easter season, Hickman’s egg cartons often include buy-one-get-one-free coupons—a great way to save on what can be a slightly pricey admission. If you haven’t been yet, look them up and give them a chance—there’s something here for everyone, and it’s a great way to spend the day whether you're local or visiting.

Lovely zoo with aquarium, restaurants and animal encounters. It also has a few rides and tours. We went today, 9/8/2025, and it absolutely as dead as could be. The heat was oppressive (but we knew it would be) and most of the attractions were for the summer. We pretty much had the place to ourselves and we really enjoyed our visit. We will be back in the Fall and in the Winter. We watched the Sea Lion show and we're lucky enough to see every big cat in action. The tram ride was wonderful and provided a great little break from walking. Our guide was great! The knowledgeable staff was friendly and available. The only thing that keeps this review from being a 5 is the lack of seating throughout the park and the aquarium. But, truly an absolutely awesome experience!
Regina S — Google review
We had a nice morning here at the zoo. It's larger than we thought...you can walk for quite a while. We went to the sea lion show and it was a hoot. Penguin feeding was ok...not great. The aquarium part of the tour is good. There are 2 or 3 buildings with aquariums I believe. The hands on stingray tank is cool. They actually love to be touched. We learned they call this type of stingray "Puppies of the Sea" lol. There are some food places on site. We had some brisket at the BBQ place which was just ok. We purchased tickets on Groupon...I think we saved $6 per ticket.

We have been wanting to visit this park since we've moved to Arizona 3 years ago. Since it's located in the West Valley that's a big plus for us because we live in the West Valley and most of the fun attractions for kids are in the East Valley I require a long drive. I had a lot of observations about this venue which I will summarize with pros and cons PROS ~Lots to explore- Over 200 acres! ~Unique venue- zoo, aquarium, amusement park rides all in one ~ No crowds- This was our 1st visit. We went on a Sunday w/ beautiful weather. One person in our group said she had never experienced crowds in any of her many visits through the years ~ Sea Lion Show was very well done and included in admission ~ Lots of shade- which ia so nive on warmer days ~ Large variety of animals ~ Free Parking ~ Several restaurants CONS ~ Admission Price is on the high side ~ No family memberships ~ Walking pathways are dirt, so wear good walking shoes ~ No outside food allowed A Family membership plan for locals would be a great incentive to visit. Memberships that include rides would also be great. I would like to acknowledge EMPLOYEE TROY. He talked to us near the Kangaroo area, and told us all about the baby kangaroos. He was very professional, knowledgeable & friendly. Food was very good at the restaurant that we ate at called SLICE. Overall this was a 3.5 to 4.0 experience for me, but I am rounding up to 4.0, because there were a lot of positive things about our visit. Ultimately for local families I think that the high price is an obstacle. We are an extended family with four grandchildren and we are always looking for Great Value memberships locally that we can bring our grandkids to and enjoy throughout the year. It would be such a benefit to so many to create a family type of membership that would allow us to return on a regular basis at an affordable price. The ability to bring food in would also be great because a lot of families do like to pack food to save money. There are a lot of areas where picnic tables could be added. ~ Thank you for a memorable day!

If you are in or near Phoenix AZ I highly recommend stopping here. Although a lot of the enclosures were empty, there was still plenty to see. A lot of the animals were interactive. I like how they have an outdoor section on the right, then an aquarium section on the left. That way you can go back and forth to cool down. I’ve also been to zoos with snack stands but this one has actual restaurants. I believe only the pizza place was open. Which was good but not great for the price and size. I do wish they put more effort into the enclosures for the animals to cool down. Some just had a puddle of water and no shade. I was on the verge of a heat stroke so I can only imagine how hot some of these animals are in the summer. Overall it was a cool experience. You can feed giraffes, go up in the air over a bunch of enclosures, food and gift shops.
Aurora F — Google review
We had a really great time here today. Went on a Thursday in November and the weather was great, had a minimal crowd and virtually all the animals were out to see. We started on the right side of the park, walked back to have lunch at Dillons Bbq, which was delicious, and really enjoyed the huge fish tank in the restaurant. We then ventured around the aquarium park and finished up in Adventure Land where we took the tram tour, which I highly recommend. Spent about 5 hours in total at the zoo.
James C — Google review
What a great zoo and aquarium. It seems to be slow but it was amazing to see the animals so up close. Monkeys are on little islands, peacocks are rooming freely. They have giraffe you can feed and various animal encounters too.
Aurianna P — Google review
Great place to see wonderful animals and make memories with family and friends. You don't want to miss the opportunity to feed the giraffes, birds, fish, and goats - what a blast for my 4 year old granddaughter! If you really like going several times a year, be sure to get the membership. The membership pays for itself after 2 visits. There are refill cup options and reasonable food prices. There is also a nice restaurant attached to the zoo.

Sights & Landmarks
Phoenix Raceway is a popular destination for NASCAR fans, boasting a seating capacity of over 65,000. The venue has undergone recent improvements that have greatly enhanced the overall fan experience. While free parking is available, visitors should expect to walk a fair distance. Inside the track there are plenty of food and beverage options, including self-serve drink areas that offer quick service for water or alcoholic beverages. It's worth noting that Phoenix Raceway has transitioned to a cashless system.
We are at Phoenix Raceway for Championship Weekend in the camping area. We spent about 45 minutes waiting in line to get in. Once we arrived at the check point it was pretty fast and painless.

I've only ever been to PIR once but really enjoyed the three days of racing that I managed to see. Craftsman Truck Series, Busch and NASCAR over a Friday/Saturday/Sunday race weekend. Bench seats are uncomfortable, as is true in pretty much every racing venue I have ever been in. We were able to move around a fair bit on the Friday and sit in the shaded stands as many fans only come for the Saturday and Sunday race. Easy access to the infield and some areas you can walk around (but not the garages of course). Decent midway on the outside with the usual souvenir and food trucks. A bridge over the entrance lane to the pits allows for a few good shots but you cant stay there long (others want their turn) and its not accessible during the races. Decent overall facility, but its an arid and hot area so bring water with you. We had corporate village access on the race day sue to our provider Inside Track. Its a nice spot just outside the track where drivers may show up and where they have TV's in case you want to stay in the shade of the village during the race.

This was the second year I was able to go to the championship 4 for Nascar. although phoenix always provides a great time 2026 will find it empty when it comes to the last race. There is always a full camping venue its best if you take a trailer not tent. The showers and porta potty can be a good hike to get too. Always go with someone you get along great with or a great time could be downgraded to just fair. The racing is really good, and one unfortunate incident is almost fatal due to the small track. Food is extremely expensive 19.00 bucks for a corn dog is outrageous in my opinion so eat alto before going into the track.

So many things that could be done better. Better entertainment (take a lesson from the Super Bowl) … sitting in the infield and the TVs don’t show what going on. During qualification they couldn’t even keep up. In the photos we are listening to them introduce drivers but we r watching advertisements. 🙄

Love taking the Family out every year, and creating memories in this fun filled family, or Stag environment! You are guaranteed fun, laughter, with a great wholesome time. We like to camp, positive side of camping Trash is picked up Daily, and the dirt roads are dust controlled Daily as well. They do have water trucks that drive around, if your RV needs a fill. Down fall: can not alway pick your neighbors lol! You may get a weirdo every once in a while, but the majority everyone is friendly! Recommend going out if you have never done it. Arenas & Stadiums
State Farm Stadium is a remarkable venue that showcases the best of modern architecture and innovation. Designed by renowned architect Peter Eisenman, this impressive arena can accommodate over 63,000 fans and features North America's first fully retractable roof and natural grass playing field. It serves as the home ground for the Arizona Cardinals NFL team and hosts a variety of major events, including the annual Fiesta Bowl and even Super Bowls.
We've been to football games, concerts, monster truck shows, and even graduations at State Farm Stadium—and it's always a great experience. Whether you're sitting lower-level, upper-level, or in the Ring of Honor, the views are solid throughout the stadium, and the large screens help ensure you don’t miss a moment. The seating is comfortable, and the venue is kept clean—props to the staff for that. Bathrooms are in working order, which might sound minor, but at a packed event, it's a big deal. Security is visible and respectful, making the environment feel safe without being overbearing. One of the things we really appreciate is the variety of vendors. There’s something for everyone—whether you're craving classic stadium food or something a little different. They also have staff walking around selling drinks, which adds to the convenience. If you're considering premier seating, some of it is absolutely worth the upgrade depending on the event—especially for concerts or high-stakes games. Parking is plentiful, but leaving after an event can be slow. We’ve learned to use a private driver, and it's made a big difference in avoiding the post-event traffic jam. (Hoping to leave a great review for our driver too!) All in all, State Farm Stadium continues to deliver a solid event experience, no matter what you're there to see.

The stadiun has a Huge parking lot. Parking close to the building was a mistake, when it was time to leave. It took a long time to get out of the parking lot, and we could not turn the way we wanted to (it was blocked off). The stadium was air conditioned, which felt great. Our seats were close to the end zone, next to the the stairs, so my view was people walking up/down the stairs. Luckily, there was a huge screen to my left, so I watched that. I enjoyed the game (and the Seahawks won) 💚💙

Went here for the Packers vs Cardinals game in October of 2025. Getting into the stadium was quick and easy. Once inside, was a little underwhelming on comparison to other stadiums but still a good stadium. Drinks were good and fans around us were very cool and fun. All around, a great experience (especially since the Packers won haha)

Awesome venue. Ever seat is great. Vendors and service people are friendly. Gate workers super strict. Can bring blankets jackets but took my seat cushion cover because it had a 6 inch zipper. Took the super thin small cover off and the man still said no. Absolutely no way to hide anything in a small thin piece of cloth. Mean while jackets and pants have zippers. Also people let in with extensive costumes which can easily hide objects.

Got hooked up w some tickets. Ended up in Section 105 row 36 great seats. Close to entrance and exit. Parked in black lot short walk to stadium. Purchase parking pass on seat geek in advance. The gentlemen at parking told us Handicap was full but it was not. Parents had to walk further.
Rita G — Google review
We had a great time at the drone show. I do suggest getting there early so you can get a good spot. Getting out of the venue was a bit tough. The exits were choked off so only a few people could get out at a time.

Great place to watch a game. Paid for a primo parking space. Cuz I can't stand waiting an hour to leave, so worth the 60 bucks! Paid for really good first section 35 yard line seats. Very enjoyable. Kind folks. Very respectful and kind to military families and those that stood before us. I liked that too. Will definitely be back. All services and facilities one needs in a stadium, this place has. Clean and newer looking!
Daniel C — Google review
Literally INSANE to charge $30 for parking after we spend so much to get into the damn stadium anyways. And the cost of food/drinks INSANE. I truly will never ever understand how this is legal and allowed. But anyways, atleast its always clean when I go, seems to be well taken care off. Cotton candy was stale, but I guess I expect that after paying $22. Thats about it. Its your average stadium, with not so average pricing.

Gila River Arena is a versatile facility situated in Glendale Sports and Entertainment District, which hosts Phoenix Coyotes matches, along with other sports events and concerts. The arena shares its vicinity with State Farm Stadium and Camelback Ranch. Although it may not be the finest sporting venue in the valley, it serves as an adequate location for events. It can get chilly inside the arena, especially if seated under air vents on the upper level.
I’ve been to this arena many times (at least 60), between all the concert and hockey games I have attended. I don’t come here as much anymore since having kids. Today we went to the Hot Wheels monster trucks and we had an excellent experience. We got the tickets off of Groupon and the seats were really good considering I didn’t get to choose the exact location and they were really reasonably priced. The show was phenomenal and very engaging for children. We were amazed by all the stunts and moves the monster truck drivers and motocross bikers preformed. The arena was very cleaned and easy to get around. Not too overwhelming busy. The bathrooms were clean. The staff were great at the concession stand. Overall a great experience for my four and two year olds first monster truck show experience.

Amazing concert venue. I definitely will be going back again someday. All of the staff I encountered were very friendly. One of them let me stay as long as I could so I could wait for the massive crowds to leave. Security came through, and while he understood my concerns, I also understood his as well. He gave me just a few more minutes, and for that, I will always be grateful.
Nakira — Google review
No jumbotrons for better visuals of the performers but the sound for the concert was absolutely amazing!!! The seating up high kinda sucks cuz you can't really stand up with any leaning over or you'll fall and the steps are really steep but if you sit in the center down a little lower you have a great view of the full stage. It was also hard to squeeze by people to get out of your row to go to the concessions or restrooms but it's doable. Parking wasn't as much of a madhouse leaving the venue as I thought it'd be. They have it pretty organized and overall I had a great time but probably spent way too much money. Oh well, we only get these experiences once!!!
Jakob D — Google review
We went for PBR, it was a great event. The stadium is well situated however the concessions were horrible and over priced. I went to get chicken strips and fries and waited not knowing it was ready because the chicken looked like fish patties. They were also the worst in had ever tasted. Every thing asked for a tip, there was no server it was all self serve and 16 dollars for three chicken parts and half a potato worth of fries I tipped myself by not tipping. As for the event it was great, indoor fireworks, good music, and great athletes.

Very nice place to see a concert. Saw Three Days Grace & Breaking Benjamin here. Your view will obviously be whatever you pay for, but clear viewing from most any location. Expect about a half hour's worth of time to get out of the surrounding area after the event, but not horrific as there are multiple ways to exit.

The district hosts various activities such as bike nights, hot rod nights, live music on weekends, and fireworks festivals for Independence Day.
This place is absolutely wonderful and fun. Lots of things to do, and if you want to just sit somewhere and relax, you can also do that by the fountain. Water play area for kids as well.

Lots of great places to eat and walk around. Love the ambience and people watching while eating dinner in the common areas.

Westgate is beautiful. It’s hit or miss if the fountains are working but when they’re on, it’s absolutely beautiful at night. They have some really good bars there. Drinks can be pretty pricey throughout the district, but the atmosphere makes up for it. There’s not a lot of restaurants in there, but the ones that are there are pretty good.

Great restaurants and atmosphere. Parking was plentyfull but can be difficult getting out after events at State Farm Stadium.

Nice place that is foodie galore. A huge handful of the restaurants were Mexican, but they also have Japanese and other flavors there too. There's something for everyone. They have a second floor area too with more fun things to do like a comedy club and places to eat. They have stairs, or accessible elevators or escalators you can take up and down. They also have a steakhouse, theater, and even a gaming arcade. Plenty of parking too. There's also a scenic water fountain.

Wow Wow Wow! West gate Is Such A Great Place To Experience! The People Are All Friendly, The Atmosphere Is Electric and The Food Is Amazing! There’s So Much Entertainment To Enjoy Whether Solo or With Your Family. Have Fun, Be Safe and Be Blessed

Great place to come and chill and relax. Plenty of food places to try out. Our you can just come to watch a movie in imax. Try to avoid it if there is a football game going on (well unless you are going to attend the game of course) because they charge for parking and it's just a big mess for miles in every direction.

The Peoria Sports Complex is a venue that hosts spring training for two major baseball teams in addition to local leagues and events. Although it may be slightly older than other sports complexes, it still offers a pleasant experience with amenities such as a playground for children and a small splash area. The seating area is equipped with misters to keep visitors cool while enjoying the surroundings. Furthermore, the complex boasts plenty of food and drink options, although not all concessions may be operational due to staffing issues.
We were glad we accompanied our neighbor, a diehard Seattle Mariners fan, to a spring training game at this fun Peoria Cactus League stadium on a beautiful March day. The spacious, all-outdoor midway is a testament to the typically great weather this time of year. There’s every kind of stadium food you could possibly want, and a wide selection of beers, though I couldn’t find a non-alcoholic offering. Of course I had a hot dog with plenty of mustard, and peanuts in the shell, and a soft pretzel with mustard (I can never have too much mustard). The seats were comfy, with good elbow room, ample knee room, and a sufficient rake that the head of the guy in front of you doesn’t block your view of a critical play at a critical moment. The grassy area beyond left field is great for picnicking, and it’s probably where the dogs go on the Bark at the Park days. The green grass is almost like a continuation of the left fields grass. Bring your glove, as home runs would land here. There’s a huge TV screen behind the grassy area and a tented area with seating to its left (looking out from home plate). There’s also a pirate ship playground area for kids. Unfortunately, my friend’s Mariners lost but it was a very fun day. Highly recommended.

Free parking for spring training game day. Check the huge baseball for spring practice entrance. Both Padre and Mariners side are quite accessible and see players practice in close distance. They don't have too many food options inside the field and the team store is relatively small for two teams.

Visited the Peoria Sports Complex for the Desert Night Market. Excellent! Big variety of vendors and food.

They overcharge you for drinks here so make sure you bring your own for any events - but otherwise the stadium itself is very clean and well-maintained!

Pro Tip: cool off with the breeze under the scoreboard. Cooling fans for the electronics + wind tunnel in the shade by are = Ahhhhh. See pic. Great time at the Mariners game. There was plenty for everyone of all ages to do before the game. Try pitching and get measured by radar gun. Children’s play area and cooling mist. Plus so many food options aside from the fixed food counters and stands. The free parking is a plus with most charging for it but get there early to avoid parking far away in gravel overflow lots. Like they just closed main parking off just over an hour before hand. This is a shared venue between Ms and San Diego so when they play each other it will be packed to the gills. Anyhow, good seats although they were in the narrow side. Good times and great place to take in a game.

This is a really cool spot if you are a baseball fan! The spring training home of the Mariners & Padres. Both teams also workout at this facility so if you head out early you can get an up close look at your favorite players working out. Today we saw the Mariners catchers working out and the hitting on one of the outdoor fields!

I was hosting 12 Naval Academy classmates plus spouses over the March 21 weekend. I reached out to Ty Petersen at the Peoria Sports Complex about attending a Spring (Cactus League) baseball game. Ty was very engaged, professional and communicative throughout the process of organizing and booking our game. We booked in the Collonade which is a semi private venue on the home field side. Great location to view the game and tickets provide access to a very good buffet and bar. You have the option of sitting in dedicated stadium seats or enjoying the indoor/outdoor seating in the Collonade. Ty also arranged to have our group featured on the scoreboard! Lastly, he personally appeared to meet our group and thank us for our business! The whole experience throughout was awesome!

Very cool Baseball park. We unfortunately didn’t make it to a game here for spring training but we had to see the mariners home stadium and watched them practice. Also visited the team store. It was free to park there before the game. Got to watch the players practice and quite a few stopped to sign my son’s baseball. Lots of people there wanting autographs. Very cool experience!
