The Norman Rockwell Museum, located in Stockbridge, is a must-see attraction for art enthusiasts and history buffs. The museum showcases a significant collection of the artist's original work and memorabilia in his hometown. Visitors can explore the museum's permanent and changing exhibitions featuring Rockwell's iconic paintings, sketches, and photographs, as well as works by other renowned illustrators.
I just visited the museum and like to say it was a beautiful experience for me and my wife. We were even able to pick apples at the Rockwell apple grove, that was one of the things on our bucket list. The whole museum and grounds are well worth the visit. I never expected to see all these amazing paintings and structures on the grounds. The building where he lived in and did his paintings, that is a must visit and is worth the price. So don’t miss that if you visit the site.if you new to artworks like me, then it would be and educational experience for you. Enjoy 😉

A visit to the Norman Rockwell Museum is an experience not to be missed. The grounds and buildings are very well-kept. Rockwell was an incredible artist, and seeing so many of his magazine covers and other artworks was a delight. He was a true master of capturing the human spirit. We also had the pleasure to see an exhibit of Walter Wick's Hidden Wonders, and some great sculptures on the grounds.
Carol J — Google review
Great place to visit when you are in Berkshire, Massachusetts. It has big collections of his painting about all American life in his periods. He was a great portrait painter too. His last painting was in 1963 at the end of that year for Saturday Evening post of New York with the portrait of JFK who was assassinated in November of 1963 the estate is quite large with pastoral feel. Anyway I learned it elsewhere that his life was not as happy as he portray in his paintings because if the painting was not happy one the journal with rejected it. So the paintings were the projections of the life he wish he had. His real life was that of unhappy, insecure and sad and depression somewhere in between. I do enjoy this museum. It was my second visit here. The last time was nearly 10 years ago.

We were on a short driving tour of the Berkshires and we stayed in Lenox as a base. Each day, we drove out to see various historic sites like the gilded age mansions and of course the Rockwell Museum. Due to our schedule, we had to visit on the day the museum is closed to the public. So we parked and walked all around the grounds around the main building and down to his studio. Lots of outdoor sculptures to look at as we walked around.

9//25 - Part of our NE bus tour, this stop was full of nostalgia as I remember many of his paintings. The down stairs displayed all hi post covers & had an interesting movie about his life . Upstairs features many of his original paintings. The tour of his studio was included in our tour, not necessary unless your a big fan. If your from near or far, it's worth a visit.

They don't give any real information about Norman's life in Arlington VT. He had 2 homes in VT. One he accidentally burnt down. The second, Rockwell's Retreat, is right down the road. It has been lovingly restored including his studio which, with the help and love of Arlington people who knew Norman and were his models, gave the new owners so much insight that it is truly like walking into the studio and expecting to see Norman. Don't stop just at the museum in Stockbridge, go up 7A highway to Rockwell's Retreat in Arlington VT. If you love Norman's work, then you can't leave out the years of his life in Arlington.
Peggy W — Google review
Amazing. Love Rockwell's work. What a fantastic contribution to art and social commentary. The museum is well curated. The grounds are pretty. I have a printing my wall at home.
Andrew R — Google review
Norman Rockwell Museum. There are some nice grounds that you can walk and it was the right time of the year with the apples were just falling out of the tree. Museum was very clean with plenty of things to see. Had the entire collection of Saturday evening post covers. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

Naumkeag

Naumkeag, located in Stockbridge, MA, is a stunning 19th-century summer home that offers visitors the chance to explore its spacious grounds and opulent mansion. The main house showcases the grandeur of the Gilded Age with its intricate detailing and ornate decor in every room. The eight acres of gardens are a sight to behold, featuring vibrant displays like the Afternoon Garden and tranquil spaces such as the Rose Garden and the famous Blue Steps.
Absolutely stunning. The mansion is beautiful, but the real star is the gardens that surround it. Some reviews from Halloween or Christmas visitors were underwhelmed, likely because they went at night when it’s too dark to fully appreciate the landscape—no surprise there. I highly recommend going in late spring or early summer to truly take in the scenery that makes this place so special. The staff was also friendly and helpful. A must-go!
Hussein F — Google review
Beautiful Gilded Age home of the Choate family built 1885 and well preserved. Gorgeous maintained gardens on 48 acres of land. Tour guides are well versed and very informative. Enjoy the glory and many acquisitions of the Choate family home as they expanded their magnificent abode from the Gilded Age to modern times, when they decided to preserve the home and grounds in their entirety to the Trustees landmark organization. **$20 admission - tours are included ** Thank you!
Cam E — Google review
My wife and I drove a little over an hour from the Hudson Valley to see The Incredible Naumkeag Pumpkin Show, and it was absolutely worth the trip! Parking and shuttles were plentiful and well organized. We parked in town near the Red Lion Inn and only waited about five minutes for a shuttle to the estate. I imagine weekends get much busier, but visiting on a weekday made everything easy and relaxed. The event itself is a beautiful walking tour through the Naumkeag gardens, all lit up with thousands of glowing pumpkins. Most of the displays are made with foam pumpkins (which makes perfect sense—real ones wouldn’t last the season), but they’re done so creatively that you barely notice. The walk through the grounds was peaceful and enchanting. We never felt rushed or crowded and were able to take our time enjoying the displays and lights. Just note: the paths have some hills and uneven spots, so it could be challenging for anyone with mobility issues. It reminded us of a similar event at an estate in the lower Hudson Valley—just on a slightly smaller, more intimate scale. All in all, a wonderful evening out and well worth both the ticket price and the drive. Not scary at all, so it’s perfect for families—kids will love all the glowing pumpkins! 🎃
Thierry C — Google review
We attended their Halloween event. You buy tickets in advance online. Parking in Stockbridge was easy and the shuttle bus runs frequently. We never waited more than 5 minutes. The displays are well done. The path leads you through the woods, a greenhouse, and the residence. We walked through in about 45-60 minutes, but you could easily spend 90 minutes there as there is so much to see. The path has some steps or mild grades to walk up and down. Total distance of the walk is likely 1/3 mile, maybe a little more. There is a snack shack for drinks and snacks. The bathrooms are closed but plenty of portapotties available.
John D — Google review
We loved this place, a little bit of the Gilded Age history. Interesting learning about the family that built this house. The gardens and the architecture were gorgeous.
Dana L — Google review
Very pretty amazing place for family and loved ones. The pumpkins where amazing. A bit pricy overall but a good meet up with family and friends 🧡
Dragon V — Google review
We went to the Incredible Pumpkin Show. Lots of fun for young and old. It took about an hour to go through. You have to take a shuttle (school bus) from downtown to get there. We grabbed a bite and some wine at the Lion's Den after. Great time.
Kevin M — Google review
The gardens are beautiful and easy walks. There are several different landscapes and it is definitely worth to visit. The house also contains lots of original pieces and furniture which is rare to see. The house and all the rooms are in such good condition and well maintained.

Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, is a must-visit destination for music enthusiasts. The venue offers a magical blend of classical, jazz, and popular music against the backdrop of nature's sounds. Visitors can enjoy gourmet picnics on the rolling lawn while listening to concerts with grand acoustics. Additionally, Lenox is known for its outdoor spaces and as the host town for the Tanglewood Music Festival.
Wow, such a beautiful place with world-class music and amazing scenery. I love their lawn pass, which allows us to do picnic while listening to the music. Their grass is so well maintained that I walked around with bare feet and my feet were still clean. Definitely coming again!
Hyo P — Google review
Heavenly retreat with superb facilities for outdoor listening pleasure. Lustrous grounds, with areas for picnicking, and a dynamite schedule that features a diversity of musical styles, primarily performed by Boston Symphony Orchestra or Boston Pops. Local famous artists (James Taylor, Yo-Yo Ma), and visiting artists come here during the summer. Food options are OK; best to bring your own food if you plan to picnic.
Samuel R — Google review
The Lawn at Tanglewood is the best place to be! Plan ahead, pack a picnic: Blanket, folding chairs, small table, wireless lamp or candles, ice bucket, food 🥖 🥐 🧀, wine 🍷, and thou. We were here again to see the soulful, heartfelt, best female guitarist and keyboard performer, beautiful Bonnie Raitt, after 4 years when we first saw her after the pandemic. Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🎸 🥁 🎹 🎼 🎶 🎙️ 🎼🎶
Cam E — Google review
Loved walking around prior to the concert, plenty of space for blankets and chairs, you can only drink alcohol in your designated seating area. Bug spray would have been smart, we got an Uber from town which saved us the long line of traffic into the parking lot, but staff in parking could not agree on where ride share drop-off was (each stop point had to ask the next stop point). The verdict was "limo drop-off" would be the best thing to say because it drops you near the gates.
Mistie C — Google review
Anyone in area that can make it should really make an effort to try and go and see a concert at Tanglewood Was really an incredible experience for the price ($35). People bring legit tables and outdoor feasts with friends and family to enjoy music Something you need to experience to get Sound no matter how far you were from the stage was crystal clear Would suggest coming a few hours early as there's a lot to see around the venue but also because parking is crazy and so is the seating on the lawn. Good to grab an area and parking spot
Robert B — Google review
Great venue for a concert. And the Lenox locals know how to party in the lawn seats. Charcuterie boards and all kinds of fancy spreads. Amazing! There's also great stands with BBQ, fried foods, quick self serve snacks and ice cream. It's easy to exit with West and East parking and great attendants.
Thom C — Google review
Woah 😳! There was so much to explore! I had a pleasant time exploring the grounds before the show and during intermission. A great 👍 place to view a sunset! Oh, it is a good place to see 🙈 a live show. I like the partial maze in the garden area. You will not see Jack Nicholson yelling "Danny!" while carrying an ax! At least I hope you don't! Redrum! 🤫 Shh! The sundial, Whispering Bench, sculptures , the interesting looking houses and even a few of the trees. I was surprised I was not bothered by any 🐝 insects, especially 🦟 mosquitoes. The Koussevitzky Music 🎶 Shed, not the Author "Two Sheds" Jackson, was a good place to watch a performance. Large screens helped people who were further back 🔙 and on the lawn watch the show. The shed can get warm 🥵 on a hot night. They could use some fans to circulate the air inside. The lighting and acoustics were good. The food at the cafeteria was okay but overpriced. They did run out of items on the menu. Security did not hassle myself or anyone I observed. They will check ✔️ bags before you enter. I had no issues with parking 🅿️. There is plenty of parking 🅿️ available and it is free 🆓. There are a lot of bathrooms and a few porta potties. The bathrooms I used were in good condition. They do sell beer 🍺 here. Wheelchairs ♿ are provided for guests. One lady I chatted with actually had on delivered to her at the cafeteria. I came to see "A Prairie Home Companion" and I enjoyed watching it. I do not remember them swearing 🤬 as much at being overly political. I am going to recommend a visit. I may visit again depending on who is playing. It was a long drive for me.

The Mount, once the residence of renowned author Edith Wharton, is now a National Historic Landmark and cultural center. The estate offers tours of its gardens and interiors, along with rotating exhibits that provide insight into literature and life in the early 20th century. Additionally, visitors can partake in ghost tours of the property. The grounds also host various cultural events throughout the year.
Fascinating place to learn about an interesting decade in Edith Wharton‘s life. Interesting to hear about the family and a small slice of the Gilded Age history. We had a nice lunch on the outside patio overlooking the gardens. The gardens have been restored and although not my style, two symmetrical for me, it was a fun place to visit.
Dana L — Google review
Beautiful, historical location with great walking trails and gardens. There is a nice bookstore/gift shop and a cafe. The staff on site are very knowledgeable and friendly. We did the self guided tour and that was nice to go at your own pace. There was a great 13 minute video to watch in the stables at the beginning of the tour. There was plenty of material in each room to learn about Edith Wharton and her life there. We heard part of the guided tour and it was so informative and contained lots of details; would recommend that if that is what you like. The grounds were beautiful and there were lots of spectacular views and places to sit and enjoy the surroundings.
Sharon H — Google review
This was a beautiful detour. We managed to go during a Bank of America 'On Us' weekends so we were exempt from the fee ($23 for adults, I believe). The grounds are beautiful, with a French gardens and Italian gardens manicured into picturesque perfection. The house is maintained beautifully, the information inside it was clear, and concise, and the rooms maintain a lot of charm. The sculpture garden in of itself is worth the trip, and we recommend the bookshop.
Laura G — Google review
We came on the most beautiful sunny, 75F slightly breezy Saturday. Sublime. It’s free to enter and walk around the grounds. Well behaved dogs on leash are welcomed. We spent about an hour walking around the well-maintained forests and gardens surrounding the house. In addition to the well kept grounds, there’s a variety of sculptures to discover as you wander about. We will definitely come back!
Vicky Z — Google review
We went here years ago and live jazz music on the deck and amazing barbecue was served. The home is beautifully kept with historic relics and interest around every turn. My mother, husband and our young children all enjoyed it, though they’re not fans of hers specifically, they loved it too!
J G — Google review
In the area for a wedding and googled 3 hours In Lenox and The Mount came up. The grounds a free and beautiful to wonder, and had a sculpture garden! I didn’t have time for a tour of the house but I was able to pop in to use the restroom and from what I saw it was stunning. If I had more time I would I have taken the tour.
Carri D — Google review
We were lucky to visit The Mount on a beautiful October day, so that we enjoyed not only the fascinating tour of the house and of Edith Wharton's amazing life, but also could take an al fresco lunch at the Terrace Café with panoramic views and then stroll the extraordinary gardens & grounds. Allow time for the outdoor art and for the bookstore & gift shop.
David B — Google review
We recently went to The Mount to stroll the lovely grounds and admire the newest exhibit of sculptures on display. The grounds are free for everyone to enjoy and there is a nice parking area. We have yet to tour the home of Edith Wharton, and may do that another time. Walking the grounds, different paths, and wooded trails is a great way to spend an hour or two.

Tolland State Forest is a popular destination known for its wooded hiking and biking trails, campgrounds, and a reservoir offering swimming and trout fishing opportunities. While the swimming and picnic area remains closed due to Covid, it has been a beloved spot for family camping, picnics, and leisurely swims for many years. The local residents are described as friendly and helpful. Visitors praise the natural beauty of the lake and surrounding forest as an example of the environmental splendor found in the Berkshires.
For some reason the swimming and picnic area is still closed due to Covid. This has been a great place to bring the family for camping, picnics, and even a quick swim for many years. Having lived in Otis before, I can attest to the friendly and helpful nature of the local residents. The natural beauty of the lake and surrounding forest are perfect examples of the environmental majesty available in the Berkshires.

My wife and I went there Wednesday July 20, 2022 with our son, daughter-in-law and grandaughter to go swimming. We were told that we could not go to the beach because it was only for campers. We were advised to go to another park about 25 minutes away which would put us farther away than the 30 miles we already traveled. My daughter-in law suggested we rent a camp sight for $17.00 so we could go swimming. Of course, we had to sign up on line because no other way of paying was available and a charge of $4.50 was added to doing so on line. I had my usless senior pass with me.

The place is beautiful, cozy and quiet but sometimes the people who go to the place are racist and complain about latin people, despite that it is a good place to share with the family.

Visitors can explore a diverse collection of timepieces dating from the 18th to the 20th centuries while learning about craftsmanship and innovation that earned Bristol the title of Clock City.
What a treat! Several large rooms showing the history of clocks and watches: manufacturing, technology, and design. Focused on local manufacturing history. We loved it! Just off 84.

Excellent museum! The museum is easy to find and has a nice parking lot. My kids enjoyed the scavenger hunt and learning about the various clocks.
Michele S — Google review
We visited on a Sunday afternoon and there was a steady stream of visitors, yet the museum was easy to get around and not crowded. They have a scavenger hunt for kids. You can punch in with a time clock from the early 20th century. The woman at the desk takes time to show each group around the museum and answer questions before sending you off to explore. The collection of clocks and watches is quite extensive with lots of history to learn. There are self guided tour booklets with additional information to supplement the wall signs. In addition to the clocks and watches, the house itself is historic. They have everything from tower clocks to mantle clocks, wood clocks, wind up toys, pocket watches, wrist watches, rare and unique pieces. Many of the items were made in CT or New England. They also have a clock makers workshop, a clock and watch store, and a clock peddler’s cart. There’s a gift shop with many unusual items. This museum is definitely worth a visit, especially if you like history.
Katy P — Google review
Very good collection of antique clocks. The hall that houses the tall clocks or grandfather clocks is very impressive and worth spending extra time to wait for some of the clocks to chime. The staff is very friendly and personable. They are redoing their parking lot so I would expect improvement on that in the future. Will definitely bring friends who are interested in antique clocks to visit.
Meng C — Google review
Big spaces with a large collection of clocks and watches—impressive. Nice gift shop and nice verbal introduction at the start of a self-guided tour. Too much to see in one visit. Must return.

This museum is one of my favorites in Connecticut. So much history, and teaches you more about the American Industrial Revolution. You also can see the tools and see how the clocks and watches were made. Tickets aren't very expensive here either. The workers here are very friendly and are willing to help you out if you have any questions or such. I recommend going to this fascinating museum!

Visitors can enjoy an indoor working carousel for just $1, making it a hit with families. The museum is located in an old factory building that made garments. The museum is really beautiful with an older aesthetic but plenty to see. The fun facts were fun to read and walking through the exhibits was very interesting. There are two floors in this museum. It includes a section dedicated to firefighters, another for Greek artifacts, and an exhibit for the history of tattoos. There are quite a few fun activities for kids including a scavenger hunt, kids play/educational area, and a small working carousel. We spent a couple hours walking through and enjoying everything this museum had to offer.

The carousel museum in Bristol, CT is a little jewel. Filled with amazing carousel antiques, exhibits and reproductions spanning the history of these wonderful rides. Certainly worth the price of admission (inexpensive), and a couple hours of your time. As a bonus you get admission to the adjoining firemen and Greek culture museums. We thoroughly enjoyed the museum and give it four clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale ( five Google stars).

The entire communication from planning and putting down the deposit, from the employee that helped us during the entire event, and cleanup was flawless. The venue was gorgeous, and the kids had a blast. Thank you so much carousel museum! All the guests complimented on the uniqueness and beauty of the museum.

This carousel museum is a pretty good place to visit in CT. The ancient building from 1904 gives this a rustic feel. You feel the history here. So many carousels to check out along with the history of macadonia culture. The fire fighter history section is also good to watch out for. We got the carousel rides too where an automated piano plays which is so wonderful. Go with kids as they will love this place.

A fun historical and visual oddity packed full of carousel horses and other fanciful carousel creatures. For $15 and a short ride to Bristol CT, The Carousel Museum is definitely worth a visit.

This is a small museum but was fun to see. There are some gorgeous and uniques horses with lovely history throughout. There are books throughout with descriptions of the horses, take time to read through... the paragraphs are interesting. Upstairs there is a fire museum and also a greek history museum...all included.

We had so much fun with our granddaughters at this museum. The girls were having a great time with the scavenger hunt. There was a dress up area for them to put on a play. They have a carousel ride for $1. Upstairs there’s a fire history museum with so many things to look at. Hats from everywhere, bells of all kinds, and all kinds of fire equipment and fire engine models. I think the adults had just as much if not more fun. Oh and they do the restorations right there that you can watch. Amazing place.

This place also has a fire museum and a Greek museum located inside the Carousel Museum. You have access to all for the 15.00 it cost to get in. Seniors cost $10.00. It's worth the money.

Water & winter sports on 2,000+ acres with lakes, trails, picnics, camping & fire tower with views.
Beautiful lake, nice swimming beach with a life guard. They have pick neck tables and grills. The view from the fire tower is great, and I would love to see it in the fall.
Dan H — Google review
Was my first time here. Not sure on the price to get in. If your over 65 yrs old you get in for FREE! it was a small beach but nice because it can only get "so busyy" . There's a boat ramp. No motor boats tho. There's a fishing spot too. There's also a camping area in back- I didn't see so no comments on that. They also have 2 to even 3 life guards on duty. I'd love to go again.

Great place to camp, clean, safe, nice beach, pretty quiet for how many people were there!
Samantha N — Google review
GPS took us in through the back entrance, which created a very awkward conversation with rangers at the main checkin for the park. Camping at this park was lovely. The sites were close together, but not on top of each other. There was a beach available for the campers as well as a larger beach for regular park goers. Hikes and walking areas were abundant and there are options for all ages. There is a nature center for children where they can color, read, and see some cool taxidermy. (It's also air conditioned) Bathrooms were clean and showers were private. There is only two showers for the whole campground, but we didn't have to wait and no one was waiting on us. If it is rainy it can be a bit buggy. DCR patrols OFTEN.

Nice place great lake. The recreational swimming area is very small and monitored by 2+ life guards. I mean I was spoken too about splashing my daughter. At one point they had 3 life guards and a person on a kayak circling. I'm assuming it's a training area for life guards but geez
Justin S — Google review
Very nice park. Beautiful pond/lake with beach. Hiked from parking area to fire tower. The trail is well marked with blue marks on trees. The trail is covered with tree roots, so you have to pay attention to where you walk. There is some incline here and there, especially the walk up to the fire tower. You can also drive up to the fire tower.
Monica D — Google review
I was there camping twice. Not terribly private and you can hear everything. But the sites are very nicely kept. The bathrooms are very clean. The views of the lake are great; swimming and kayaking seem to be a great choice. Lots of hiking trails. They even have an accessible trail.

Not a bad spot. Great for families- not so much for the getawayers trying to have a quiet time. Wasn’t a big fan of the close proximity BUT the facilities and staff were amazing. May try to find a more secluded spot next time.

This historic park, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, offers over 100 acres of green spaces, gardens, and a renowned rose garden featuring 15,000 rose bushes with 800 varieties. Visitors can also enjoy greenhouses, tennis courts, a pond, playgrounds for kids and athletic fields. The park's Pond Cafe provides a pleasant dining experience amidst the lush foliage.
We love this Rose garden. My mother was so happy to be here. She loves the flower so much and put a lot of effort into gardening and to her this place was a dream place to be. The kids enjoyed it as well. We had a relaxing time. The best time to visit is mid June I would say. You will get a splendid family pics here.

This over 100 acre park with its stunning rose garden is a wonderful way to spend the day. Entrance is free and it is opened 365 days! We visited on a Sunday afternoon in early autumn 2025 and were pleased to see some roses still in bloom. There are over 800 varieties of old and new roses. The best time to see them in full bloom is mid June to early July. The rustic gazebo is stunning and makes for great photo opportunities. The are paved, level walking and biking trails all around and trees throughout are identified. There is plenty of green space to relax and enjoy the peacefulness. The Asylum Street entrance brings you to the to the rose garden, pond, bridges, perennial garden and greenhouses. Beautifully clean and well maintained park for all to enjoy.

Beautiful space and well maintained gardens. Would recommend getting a couple of jersey mikes subs and coming here for a picnic. Ample free parking and lots of trails to explore. Great for birding as well. Always lots of people doing photo shoots which is nice.

A beautiful park, and the several gardens are really something to behold. The roses were mostly gone when we went, can't imagine how stunning they are in bloom. Came here specifically to give David the tour guide five stars - so warm and friendly, and clearly has a real enthusiasm for sharing interesting history about the park. Definitely take the tour if you go.

Beautiful park in West Hartford near the border of Hartford. Elizabeth park has a large rose garden in addition to many other varieties of flowers. Lots of greenery as well as a small pond to stroll by. The park is clean and well manicured with many plant varieties. There are open spaces for playing sports and the atmosphere is relaxed. At the center there is a gift shop as well as several buildings with ball rooms which can be rented for events.

Went not thinking thered be much to see, but the roses are still going & beautiful, but my gosh... the mums they have... I may have a new 'favorite flower!' They have every possible color combo & different styles!! They really are worth going to see!!

The Mark Twain House & Museum

Historical place museum
The Mark Twain House & Museum, a National Historic Landmark located in Hartford, Connecticut, is a must-visit for literature enthusiasts and history buffs alike. This stunning Victorian home was the residence of renowned author Samuel Clemens and his family from 1874 to 1891. It’s here that Twain crafted some of his most iconic characters while calling it the 'loveliest home that ever was.'
Wonderful tour in Mark Twain house. We got the Living History Tour (a little bit more expensive). The tour guy dressed as a Twain’s friend and gave detail history regarding Mark Twain and friends/family dynamics throughout the time. The house/furniture are in great condition. No photography inside the house. It’s a long tour involving going up and downstairs. They are very thoughtful and put out some chairs throughout the house for those who need it. I recommend it when you visit Hartford CT. It’s a good place to learn more about the famous author. General tour Senior Citizens (ages 65+) $26 Adults (ages 17-64) $28 Children (ages 6-16) $15 Children Under 6 Live History tour Senior Citizens (ages 65+) $29 Adults (ages 17-64) $31 Children (ages 1-16) – $23

One of the best historical tours I've ever been on (and I've been on a lot)! So much rich history and too many stories to tell in just a 1-hour tour. The property is well kept, and the house is restored to as much genuine detail as could be. Plenty of parking, folding chairs in each room for those who cannot stand for long periods of time, and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Tour tickets are a bit pricey but definitely worth it! No photography allowed inside the house, so get ready to take mental snapshots....you won't want to forget!
Cheri B — Google review
The Mark Twain House & Museum has a sprawling campus with different exhibits and tours. Plus, if you're a local, they have plenty of ways to visit for free. We did the General House Tour. Beth was our tour guide, and she was fantastic! A five-star guide, and I would highly recommend you request her if you go. She was knowledgeable, patient, and clearly passionate about Mark Twain's life, which brought everything to life on the tour. I particularly enjoyed how she covered the real story of who he was: the good, bad, and ugly. She was very kind and patient with our 3-year-old niece who was on the tour, and helped get her involved. The house is pretty cool (I wouldn't recommend for young kids though... or adults with severe ADD). I'm not a big fan of Mark Twain, on account of him being negative after his visit to the great state of Utah, but coming to this museum helped me realize he was kind of just a jerk to and about everyone. The gift store might be the real highlight. There are some great gems here (I featured some favorites). A vibe I got from some of the employees was they were super passionate about history and Mark Twain's life, but having visitors to the museum was a necessary evil. That was from some, but not all, which is a fun irony since Mark Twain probably felt and acted the same way. I chalked it up as creating an immersive experience. If you like Mark Twain, history, or architecture, definitely plan your visit.
Dalton A — Google review
Immaculatly restored historic home where Mark Twain and his family resided for 17 years. Parking, the museum, gift shop, cafe and grounds are all free to check out. There are only guided tours of the inside and there are no photos or videos allowed of the inside. We purchased tickets ahead on line. The regular tour lasts about 1 hour. The home is absolutely gorgeous and the history fascinating. You do not need to be a literary genius or even a fan of the author to appreciate the history of this home and the family.
Denise A — Google review
Great experience. It's a must for any literature, architecture, or Victorian fan. The house is stunning, and the stories and fantastic. No photos allowed in the house! Makes the experience more memorable to be honest. One of the great quoted figures of all time.
Michael S — Google review
Absolutely AMAZING. Alex. Our tour tour guide, was informative and humorous. If you're a Mark Twain fan, it's truly a necessary stop, because it's the only home that Twain truly thought of as his. He said about the house, "To us, our house was not unsentient matter—it had a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals and solicitudes and deep sympathies; it was of us, and we were in its confidence, and lived in its grace and in the peace of its benediction." It was so cool to see where he worked, played with his kids, spent time entertaining, and lived for so many years. Note for those who have mobility issues: there are a lot of steps to climb. If you're unable to climb stairs they will only be able to accommodate you on the first floor and then you'll have to exit the tour.
Shadra B — Google review
When I was young I used to read a lot of books and some of those were by Mark Twain. It is a wonderful place where you can see it originally from creation and see the atmosphere where author was built it. Nice architecture and magic in the air.

Great experience visiting this museum. Olivia the tour guide portrayed herself as “Susy Clemens” one of Mark Twains daughters, she did an excellent job, i felt that i was in the presence of Susy herself. She knew a lot of the history and took us back in time.. If anyone is planing to visit the museum, it’s worth spending the little extra fee to have the experience, i highly recommend Olivia as the tour guide, you will learn a lot and she will make you laugh.. The house is beautiful, has so much details and is well maintained.. Simply a great experience!

Located on Main Street in Hartford, Connecticut, this exceptional museum features over 50,000 American, European, and contemporary works of art. Its extensive collection includes paintings, porcelains, sculptures, American Impressionist paintings, French Impressionist paintings and modernist artworks. The museum also showcases decorative arts and furniture from various periods.
The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, located in the heart of Hartford, Connecticut, is a remarkable destination for art enthusiasts and history lovers alike. As the oldest continuously operating public art museum in the United States, it boasts an impressive legacy that is beautifully reflected in its distinctive, castle-like architecture—a striking landmark that sets it apart from other institutions. One of the museum’s most captivating features is its magnificent Great Hall, a space of exceptional beauty and grandeur that leaves a lasting impression. During my visit on a peaceful weekday afternoon, the quiet atmosphere allowed for an intimate and thoughtful exploration of the museum’s diverse collections, ranging from European masterpieces to contemporary works. Whether you are a dedicated art connoisseur or simply seeking a culturally enriching experience, the Wadsworth Atheneum offers an unforgettable journey through centuries of artistic achievement. It’s a true gem on the East Coast and undoubtedly worth a visit.

[tourist post] I loved this museum. Spent about 3 hours. I saw so much art including a Van Gogh! I loved that they had sketch pads out near displays. After checking out the museum, went down to the cafe. The lady there was incredibly sweet and welcoming. Def recommend the blueberry lemon cookie she makes!!!

From the moment I walked in, I felt completely immersed in art and history. Has a diverse and high-quality art collection that may appeal to a range of visitors. Our favorites? The Morgan 1 Great Hall, a gallery with walls packed with art 2 1/2 stories up to the skylight. An informative "highlights" tour by a docent (free - just push the right button when ordering tickets). And a room for kids to relax and create, after viewing "grown-up art". Allow 2 hours minimumCafe. Or 4 if you read signs and/or have a snack or soup in the BMUSE cafe.

Visitors can enjoy enthralling experiments, DIY activities, live demonstrations and explore galleries focusing on various subjects including robotics and problem solving.
Our experience overall was very positive. There were many diverse science activities that would interest children, teens, and adults. The exhibits ranged across disciplines of physics, chemistry, geology, and engineering. The staff were all very friendly and parking was convenient but did cost.

We planned a New England vacation for the family where we were going to visit all of the states. The only science center we have ever been to was our one back home in Pittsburgh. We wanted to experience what another state and cities science center was like so we put this on the agenda to surprise the kids. It just so happens the day we planned on spending the day at the science center was the same day of the Hartford marathon. We eventually found our way to the science center, but it was a challenge. The science center itself was amazing! The kids really loved all of the exhibits And the building was stunning! We ended up spending the whole day here. We even ate in the cafeteria, which we enjoyed. It’s sufficed anyhow. We’re glad that we put this on the agenda and would recommend visiting if you’re in the area and have kids.

CT Science Center is located in Hartford and is a hands on science museum. There are many exhibits in all the science fields that you can explore; it's also for all ages too. My favorite was the butterfly encounter; there is a room just for butterflies and they do land on you. There is a parking garage available. There are 4 levels open to the public. My family and I enjoyed the exhibits. There were plenty to keep us all busy. My children enjoyed the play kitchen, dinosaurs, and butterflies. Blue Chip Creamery is also located there. I highly recommend it and can't wait to go back soon.
Kim V — Google review
Very fun and educational but is primarily aimed for toddlers or 2nd grades and below. Lots of hands on activity that kids could do and check out to learn stuff. Butterfly exhibit was nice as well though personally not an insects person. Didn't give a 5 star cause I went for myself and there wasn't much activities for teens or adults. Had a nice relaxing view at the very top in the garden.
Jackie L — Google review
Well, it's a decent place to visit and keep the little one entertained. All of the exhibits keep us pretty busy. I do have a couple of issues with this place though. One, enough with the "they/them" nonsense. Not all of us subscribe to that way of thinking. Two, the place is severely understaffed and should designate certain days to schools and camps only, or make toddler Tuesday an every week thing. Today there were hoards of kids from several camps visiting; which is all good, but they were incredibly unruly and chaotic. They shouldn't have been brought to the science center, they should've been taken to Lake Compounce. They were throwing things, running, playing tag, and hide and seek. I saw only one staff member, by the wind machine, constantly reminding them not to run. Their chaperones were pretty much useless. Rather than enjoying our time exploring the exhibits, I spent most of the day either shielding my little one from rogue runners or trying to avoid the camp groups altogether. And these were much bigger kids. I don't think I'll be visiting any time soon. Management really needs to get a better grip on things, or at the very least, make toddler Tuesday a frequent thing. Oh, here's a picture of what I'm talking about.
Bert T — Google review
Good place for kids, for sure they will enjoy and easily they can spend five hours

This place is great. My 8 year old grandson loves it. Three full floors of amazing exhibits and an area with a really cool water playground (your kid will get wet - maybe bring a change of clothes). Highly recommended.

Been here several times with my kids. It’s a fun place for kids of all ages, but especially for school age kids who are curious about learning new things. The building has a cool design and some spectacular views of the river. Each level has a different theme and the staff are always so courteous and helpful. The lady working at the monster drawing tables in the DNA/genetics side of the exhibit was so patient with each kid in explaining the same thing over and over. The staff at the ticketing area were also very helpful in explaining discounts that I never knew I qualified for. Kids and adults can easily spend hours here!

What an absolutely amazing place. I cannot recommend this botanical garden enough! There were plants everywhere! Several spaces you could go into to see them. So many unique and wonderful plants to look at. We went around twice and saw things we missed the 1st time. We were amazed at the plants under the plants! Some I've personally killed that are just growing randomly under a table living their best life! Absolutely breathtaking! A million stars. Would highly recommend!

Decided to take a weekend road trip from Rhode Island to Western Massachusetts to check out the blooming tulips exhibit. It was a cold, overcast day, but once you're inside, it's climate-controlled and beautiful. We had to wait about 20 minutes to get in because the event was so popular that the line was queued up for quite a while. However, staff made it very easy to move through, and the line kept moving. Parking is kind of hard to find. We lucked out with street parking, but allow time to find some parking. We would love to come here again when the weather warms up and the outdoor gardens are in bloom.

Amazing. No other words can describe the situation here, even the greenhouse itself is a marvel, not to mention the thousands upon thousands of plants contained within. The variety of trees, shrubs, grasses, and flowers was outstanding. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Absolutely worth a stop off the highway, this village carries an amazing variety of gifts and items. It's not just candles, it's everything you can imagine for the house, pantry, and an entire children's shop as well.
Heather T — Google review
A lot of fun - I’ve been to both this one and the one in Williamsburg, Virginia. My only complaint about this one is the middle area that features coffee, ice cream, and food, as well as check out areas. It does not have enough seating. My husband and I nearly had to in the floor today to eat our food. They have very small tables and not enough chairs. Also understaffed during peak season so getting food and navigating the area because of the resulting long lines is a pain. Checkout lines also take forever to get through on weekends and during peak season (October-December). The one in Williamsburg featured a lot more local artists, and I would love to see that reflected or acknowledged here. Positive things, I like the toy area a lot, the set up is nice. Love the Bavarian village (but would love if we could stop spreading the German pickle myth) and the snow room. I particularly like being able to buy German imported goods, like the Sauerbraten spice packets, which is what we make for Christmas every year.

The tower itself is beautiful, and the views from the top are well worth the trip. You can either park before the gate and enjoy a short walk up, or drive all the way and park right beside the tower. The only downside is the large amount of graffiti, some of which may not be appropriate for kids.
Summer Y — Google review
Such a great hike up. Tower views are breath taking. Not sure who cares for the property. Wish they'd find a way to get rid of the graffiti. But once you reach the top you will be well rewarded with a constant soft breeze and views of that valley that will not disappoint. OFF to the right there's 4-5 really nice granite benches to sit and enjoy
Cindy F — Google review
The road to Poet's Seat Tower is a bit rough to drive on and poorly maintained, so please drive carefully. There's also parking before the entrance if you would prefer walking to the Tower. The view of Greenfield is decent.

It's coated in graffiti, yeah. But as a piece of architecture built in the spirit of free expression, and as most of it isn't...well, body part drawing, and swears, it's a cool place to go.

Spectacular views from this historic tower. I'll return when the leaves are changing to take in the beauty that surrounds this magical spot.

Art museum
The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, founded by renowned illustrator Eric Carle and his wife Barbara, is a unique museum located on the Hampshire College campus. It features a vast collection of picture books and hosts visiting exhibits from national and international artists. With three galleries staging six exhibitions annually, the museum also dedicates shows to Eric Carle's own work. As a member of Museums10, it's conveniently situated adjacent to Hampshire College in Amherst.
This is a really nice little museum. It's always a treat to see original artwork, and this particular museum made me appreciate picture books more deeply. Creative, insightful, and at times even moving, the art on display was very well curated, and the building is great. Definitely worth the trip to get here!

Small but very sweet museum that is perfect for little ones and short visits. Plan for 1-2 hours max to experience fully. Gift shop is cute. If you were a fan of Eric Carle's work growing up you will love this. Designed well for toddlers to roam a bit, safe space for very small children. May not keep older kids interested for as long. Definitely one to do for littles and for fans. I enjoyed looking at the art and I got an Ed Gorey shuffled story in the gift shop which was a nice surprise.

Wonderful time visiting the museum! There are activities for all ages. The Grace Lin exhibit was fantastic!

First time visiting this place and it was such a wonderful museum! I’m not a big museum guy but there’s something special and inspiring about this one. I could literally go to the museum more than once. Everything from the exhibits themselves, to the short films in the theatre to the library to the gift store and the art room - shoot, even the outdoor Apple picking area; this museum is just such a wonderful place. Not sure when exactly I’ll be in town again, but when I am I’ll be paying this place a visit!

Museum has very warm and friendly environment with lovely and masterpiece painting ...you should try it

A big, bright and fun museum - definitely child-oriented, but also fun if you had a definitely place in your heart for these books as a kid. Interesting exhibits include art in relation to animal welfare and the process of book creation. I found it absolutely worth the $15 entrance fee, it's a very nice place to spend an afternoons.

My family and I love this museum. We have gone twice using our local library’s museum pass. The facility is very well curated, spacious and organized. The reading room is our favorite spot with so many favorite stories and fun imaginative play items to play with. The studio and it’s teachers have given us new artistic ideas and experiences and the opportunity to create based on inspired artists is so cool. Both the Christian Robinson and exhibit with the dock birdwatching activity have been highly interactive and engaging for us. This past visit, we were able to see a live puppet show for a very small fee! It was perfect for my 5 year old and again, a great new experience in the arts for us all. We love going here even though it is an hour from us in Connecticut! 🐛🦥🖍️

We love all of Eric Carle’s books, so we made it a point to stop during a recent trip. This is incredibly well done, and a nice tribute to Eric’s works. I recommend starting off to the left of the reception to learn about the man behind the books. That really helped frame the rest of the visit for us. I can see with younger kids, you could spend hours here. There is a artwork studio where kids can create their own pieces. There are grounds outside for a picnic. We went just to tour on our own, and we were done in a little less than an hour. I’m glad we stopped and visited.

Emily Dickinson Museum

History museum
Museums
The Emily Dickinson Museum, located on Main St. in Amherst, is the birthplace and lifelong home of the renowned poet Emily Dickinson. The museum offers exhibits, guided tours, and a bookshop for visitors to explore. The Federal-style Dickinson Homestead provides a unique insight into the life of this extraordinary poet who rarely left her home and gained recognition only after her death when her cache of poems was discovered.
The Emily Dickinson Museum is a wonderful place to visit in Amherst, Massachusetts. The museum offers both guided tours and self-guided tours. On the self-guided tours after visiting the first room, where basic information about Emily Dickinson is provided, you can go from room to room as you please. There are guides in each room who provide information about the room and how it was used by the Dickinson family. The guides are knowledgeable about all aspects of Emily's life from where she lived in the house, her relationship with her family, her life, and her poetry. The guided tours last about an hour and on them you can get more information than on the self-guided tours. The house has both historical furniture and restored from the Dickinson family. The decorating inside of the house is unique and has been restored from photographs. In a few rooms in the house there are interactive displays about Emily's poetry. There is a nice gift shop inside the house as well. It is best to park on the streets near the house. There are a few handicapped parking spaces near the house as well. It is definitely best to purchase tickets online ahead of time. Tickets are also sold at the museum. If you have an interest in Emily Dickinson or just like seeing historic houses this museum is for you.

My experience here was truly incredible. I honestly don’t even know where to begin with this review. I paid to spend an hour in Emily Dickinson’s room, which was very peaceful. The gardens were beautiful, the staff were very sweet, and the tour was thorough and informative. If I lived near here, I would visit weekly. I love how they are constantly working on creating a more historical visit with renovations and updated facts. The Evergreens were closed when we went, but that just gives me another reason to come back and visit.
Emma P — Google review
Our guide was very well informed but did not leave time for questions, which was somewhat irritating. The dress is white because Emily gardened but could bleach to clean, which is why she wore white. The garden was wonderful and authentic. I would return.
Marcia M — Google review
Well worth the visit to Amherst. Anyone who’s interested in museum curation and historic preservation should definitely pay a visit. The brother’s house’s original interior is being preserved while Emily’s house has been renovated to look how it did when she lived there. It’s really interesting. Both houses were well staffed by very knowledgeable tour guides who were excited to answer questions about Emily’s and her families’ lives. The cemetery where Emily and some family members are buried is just a short walk away. Overall, I was very impressed by my visit.
Amanda M — Google review
The Emily Dickinson Museum in Amherst, Massachusetts preserves both the Homestead—where the poet lived and wrote—and The Evergreens, her brother Austin’s neighboring home. Together they form one of New England’s most authentic literary sites. Visitors can take guided tours that explore Dickinson’s writing room, family history, and the restored 19th-century gardens that inspired much of her poetry. The museum also hosts readings, workshops, and seasonal events that connect her work to modern audiences. Located near the Amherst College campus, the museum is open seasonally with timed tickets recommended in advance. It’s a quiet, beautifully maintained place to understand Emily Dickinson not as a myth but as a real woman shaped by the rhythms of her home and garden.
RoadTrip N — Google review
My daughter and I went to the museum today for a tour of both the house and Evergreen. Our first tour guide ( thacker?- please correct me if I got the name wrong) was exceptionally good, knowledgeable and passionate about Emily and her legacy. Stopping by this tour took us 2 hours off of path, but was beyond worth it for those who love Dickinson.
Dor R — Google review
I really enjoyed my time here, I learned a lot about Emily Dickinson and her family. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes her work or even to those who aren't familiar with it yet, as it might spark their interest.

Had a wonderful afternoon touring the homestead of Emily Dickinson and the nearby home of her brother, Austin. The tour guides were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous to tour participants. Guests are able to tour the grounds of the estafe and take in the scenery of Amherst. There is also a nice gift shop staffed by a very friendly tour coordinator. And there were clean bathrooms! An enlightening and relaxing October afternoon.

Beautiful grounds. Interesting facts about a famous Colonial American family. Knowledgeable tour guide. We got there around 12:30 PM and had to wait until 1PM for our tour to start. But it is a cool place to bring the family for a couple of hours. They have candlelight tours in October that sound fun because the tour guide said that when the police visit they don't like going in the basement! Spooky. 😉

Wonderful history to learn here... the grounds and homestead are beautifully maintained, Nick, the docent who led a tour was so knowledgeable and charismatic - learned so much about the Hale family life and Nathan's importance to this area and the Revolutionary War.

Awesome tour. The tour guide was wonderful, and it is great to learn about such an important figure in Nathan Hale and family with Hale's at such an important and formative time for our great country!

Great docents. Well maintained. Good trails but follow an app or know how to orienteer. Sometimes the trails are not well-defined. About 6 picnic tables. Washrooms are only available when the homestead is open. Plenty of parking

I am giving the 5 stars because the farmers market outside is great! I am guilty of not going inside the museum. But the market on the grounds is great. A lot of vendors, music, but they also have a central theme and booths to promote. We have been a few times. Children entrepreneurswere the theme and it really was worth while. We drove almost an hour to go to this market.
James C — Google review
This place is an absolute cultural gem for Connecticut. Not only does it serve as a museum and as a historical site, but it also is the location for the Coventry Farmer's Market in the warmer months, which is one of the highest rated farmer's markets in the country. There are beautiful open fields for activities and a vast network of hiking trails in the woods. It's essentially open all the time and has offered such a peaceful and serene place of solace for me during the pandemic. I like to use the many stone walls to work out on, especially the stunning patio hardscape area behind the main barn off to the side. I believe there are weddings and events held in these spaces in the summer as well! Would highly recommend visiting this place and giving it some love and appreciation.

Friendly, helpful staff, plenty of parking on the grass, but no reserved handicapped parking which was a problem for a few of the guests. People who had to set up equipment had a hard time getting near where they had to set up. The guests were well treated. Recommended for a wedding or other special occasions.

Drive-in movie theater
Concerts & Shows
Mansfield Drive-in Theatre & Marketplace is a classic drive-in movie theater in Mansfield, Connecticut. It opened in 1954 and boasts 950 berths across three screens, each 110 feet wide. The theater shows new Hollywood releases with evening double bills during the spring and summer months. On weekends, it also hosts a large outdoor flea market. Visitors can enjoy the nostalgic experience of watching blockbuster movies under the stars while camping out with chairs and coolers.
Great place to find great stuff. Not all the sellers are good though. I wanted to buy a tray, initial price was $25. Wife went to ask and got it down to $20. Later, we decided to buy it for $20and went to buy it. Suddenly the owner said she wants $25 now since she paid $20 for it and wanted to make a profit. So we said you said $20 and that is why we are here and “I don’t care.”. Don’t get me wrong, I have met some great people who are willing to sell at a decent haggled price. Have fun!

A nostalgic drive inn - with 3 screens a snack bar & is pet friendly! Its been in operarion since they opened in 1954 and It is only 1 of 2 that are still open in Connecticut now / 2025. The bathrooms are in need of some updating (old "trough" style urinals) ... all -n- all, a great experience though!

Great spot for an affordable family outing . I grew up with the Naugatuck Drive -In and have so many wonderfull memories. I highly recommend enjoying this with your children and pets. Food is very good but I suggest getting there early as the lines can be long. Oh, and they rent radios , so if your like me and hang out in the back of your pick up you won’t have to blast your radio to hear the movie ! Cheers !
Jayson P — Google review
Great movie selection, good parking area for the movies, screens are clean, great snack shack, & the staff is super helpful. I didn’t just give it 5 stars because it’s the only drive in theater left around, it gets 5 stars because it’s awesome. Take someone on a date. Take the family in an SUV. It’s a fantastic place.

We watched Jurassic World REBIRTH. I had a great time here with my 3y/o son. We had our vehicle backed in, so we sat in the back with our hatch open and tuned in on the radio station. It was perfect. There's plenty of parking, and the restrooms were clean. ******** UPDATE We came back to watch Jurassic World for the second time!!! The stars were shining and the moon was so bright! What a perfect night 🌙

An experience like no other. Space between cars so no accidents might occur. Concession stand had wide variety and realistic pricing. Entry fee is more than fair for 2025. Probably get some good exercise in if you arrive an hour early and just walk around the entire area.

First time visiting a drive in and it’s such a great experience. Came for the back to back play of Garfield 🐱 and Ghost Busters 👻. Dog friendly. Love setting up a pillow fort in the back of the jeep, enjoying the comfort of my little hideaway Bathrooms, snack bar, plenty of parking with 3 different movies screens.
B C — Google review
We loved our time at the drive-in. The food at the snack bar was delicious and they had a great selection of options. We went on a weekday so it wasn't too crowded and we loved that the double feature was perfect for date night (action for him, romcom for me). The person scanning the tickets also gave great directions to make sure we were at the correct screen.

Hardwick has a broad selection of unique wines. Want a wine slushie? You can have that! Want a pitcher of sangria? Yup, you can have that as well. Want to take a bottle home? Of course you can! Enjoy your wine upstairs, downstairs, on the covered veranda, or out on the lawn. Want a quiet spot? Walk on the grounds, sit in the gazebo or pavilion, or set up a lawn chair anywhere. Hardwick often presents live music and hosts seasonal events throughout the year. Finally, you can bring snacks to enjoy with your wine. Enjoy!

Such a lovely place to go. I tried five wines for $10 and you get a cute signature glass to take with you. They have seasonal flavors I got a watermelon and chocolate raspberry to take home. The staff is very kind and knowledgeable. Live music, beautiful views, and ample seating with Adirondack chairs!!! Would absolutely come back and look forward to doing so 🍷❤️

What a winery! The flavors and varietals were incredible! We visited here during a weekday and were serviced immediately. The woman working the counter was friendly and helpful and provided great hospitality. I sampled a pumpkin, raspberry and some apple varietals and couldn’t have been happier with my choices. The pumpkin varietal was incredible and I can’t wait to have it come fall time! We would definitely visit again, especially on the weekends!

Happened upon the great little winery while out on the bikes for a ride. Enjoyed a wonderful lunch along with a flight of wines to sample. Generous pours with the flights here allowing you to have a more than a sip to sample. We came home with a couple bottles and were very impressed by the staff. This will definitely be on our list for another stop when we have time to sit outside and listen to some music as well.

Beautiful property! We talked to the mother of the owner and learned the white building was almost 300 years old! The apple pie wine was great!

Stone Cow Brewery

We stumbled across this brewery while exploring the beautiful countryside and were incredibly impressed by the property, the beer, and the food! It's a beautiful location complete with panoramic views of the surrounding hills. The barn has a great, rustic charm and has plenty of seating both inside and out. The beer selection is great, with a wide variety of beers including a ton of great IPAs. The food selection is good as well. My wife and I shared a pizza which was more than enough food for two people. They have some playground equipment for kids as well. They also have a cute little country store that sells local items. Overall, I highly recommend checking out this brewery if you're in the area!
Sam S — Google review
I come to Stone Cow several times in the summer for their outdoor BBQ…the grass-fed burgers are great and so are their fries! Ice cream is good too. Good spot for families but can get very busy especially if they’re having a weekend event. They usually have barn animals like pigs and cows that people can pet/feed which is cute in theory. But then you wonder whether they slaughter them which doesn’t feel great after you’ve just eaten a burger…?
Paola G — Google review
Really nice large brewery with food options. Went here with a large group of friends and the place was absolutely packed. Tons of seating here and the line moved quickly. Only thing to note is food stops 1 hr before closing at 8 so you must get there early. Overall experience was very nice. Enjoyed beer, grilled cheese, pulled pork, burgers, and more. Really loved my grilled cheese and great portion sizes. Recommend

As a family with young kids, finding a brewery where everyone can have a good time can be a challenge. Stone Cow Brewery absolutely nailed it! The setting on a beutiful farm with so much open space is perfect. The hamburgers are delicious!

Love the rustic vibes of a farmhouse setting. It’s located at the popular scenic Route 122 towards Western Massachusetts. Good for adults to hangout or family spending the afternoon at the open grass field. I didn’t get any food nor beer, only had a milkshake from the ice-cream booth, thick and tasty. Plenty of outdoor parking spaces. Definitely worth to come back to try their food.
Kenny M — Google review
Advertised our own BBQ. Only on weekends otherwise pizza and panini's. Couldn't even get a burger or french fries. Beers were mostly bitter and or sour. Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Prices were very high. Four beers a small pizza and wings cost $83. Pizza lacked flavor even with pepperoni and wings were very dry and over done.
John D — Google review
As a local, I have frequented this place a lot, and I have always loved it. Unfortunately, the quality of food served out of the kitchen now is almost inedible. When the outside grill is on, the food is still good, but don’t waste your money on burnt dry wings with no sauce that come out of the barn kitchen . $40 for food, I had to throw a lot away. My kids wouldn’t eat the pizza or the wings. Used to have really good nachos and pretzels and cheeseboard all the good stuff is now gone and replaced with cheap food/expensive prices resulting in terrible pizza and wings.
Melissa G — Google review
One of, if not the, coolest breweries I’ve been to. Their main brew barn has been beautifully restored, and feels like a Viking era great hall when you walk in. The barn sits on and overlooks their family farm, which has cows, alpacas, pigs, and emu’s to view with a beer. There is also a great view of the surrounding mountain ranges. The beer is very high quality and their NE IPAs were great. Also on the property is an ice cream shop, a very large playground for kids, and a food area equipped with a large stone fire that cooks the majority of the food there. What’s super cool is all of their meals and ingredients are directly from their farm - so you know the food you are eating was properly and humanely farmed. Another Massachusetts gem!

Lake Dennison Campground Entrance

One of the best campground in Massachusetts! Very well organized and nice staff. There is a picnic area beside the beach too. Most of the campsites have full privacy with trees around but there are few of them that can be merged for group camping! I would recommend sites 7, 8 and 9 where you have your own privacy and just next to the lake (waterfront). Nice place for boat (inflatable) or canoeing and kayaking too!
Reza S — Google review
This is our first time staying at a DCR campground west of 495, simply because none of them have water and electric. Now we have a basic solar kit to keep the batteries charged I was ready to go for it. This place is BEAUTIFUL. Pros and cons aside for a minute, we didn’t want to leave. My husband is the beach lover but said this was probably his favorite we’ve camped at so far. (Granted some of it had to do with it being less than perfect weather and come Sunday morning we had almost the whole section to ourselves.) In our opinion the north side is nicer, and more set up size-wise for trailers. Any site from 101-112 is truly lake side and you can put your kayak or canoe in the lake right from there. We stayed at 116, and that section is more of a steep drop off but you still have wonderful lake views. But, it is also set up somewhat awkwardly with having to drive over the grass with not super clear markings. (119 is in front of 116 FYI. We felt bad setting up as we blocked some of their view.) That said, if you camp with friends, esp. tent camping it’s a great area to reserve. The row of pull-through sites one up from the lake-side still offer a great water view and nice privacy between. The drawback is that if you are a family with young kids the access to the beach/swimming area is over at the east side. The bathrooms on the north side are small, very rustic and don’t have dishwashing stations. However the ladies room shower has been updated to a real shower head and dial control that will let you regulate the hot water and stays on, not like the push button ones at Scusset or Salisbury! They were as clean as they could be, meaning they are old with an eroded cement floor so not much could be done. Oh and other reviews have mentions the traffic noise from 202 is loud at those sites that are nearest to roadway, and yes, we rode our bikes over there and it was terrible. And FYI some of the east side noise travels across the lake if you are at 113-118. Overall a totally different experience from Horseneck Beach, Scusset or Salisbury if you’ve been to those, but we really enjoyed it.
Gina M — Google review
Great camping spot! Sites are quite large. No hook-ups for RV's, but I did see someone filling their RV water tank at the bathroom. No dishwasher sinks at restrooms. No adequate spout for accessing water. The spout that was available was not labeled as potable, but I'm assuming it is since I saw someone filling a water bottle. Great showers! Fabulous lake for kayaking. Saw some folks fishing, too. Great price for MA residents! $11/night
Marjorie C — Google review
We love this campground! The staff are so nice and helpful. The sites are spacious, we last camped here with 2 tents and a screen house with plenty of space. The restrooms are well kept and well stocked. Nothing to write home about but what camp bathrooms are? The lake is gorgeous and perfect for canoeing and swimming. We saw tons of families with dogs and small children, it is a very safe and friendly area. Firewood is available to buy, which makes things easy. Overall, this is a super well priced way to spend a weekend with friends or family. We will definitely be back.
Meredith D — Google review
My wife and I came for two nights. We had a site that was waterfront in the North camping area. This campground beat all our expectations! Great bathrooms with unique showers. Friendly and present staff. Beautiful woods surround you. The lake was warm and clean. We loved it.
Anthony P — Google review
Very nice state campground. Can't bring in wood, but they were selling bundles for $7 at the entrance. The North camping loops were very nice for RVs. Many were large pull through sites that looked like they could accommodate ginormous rigs. Most sites along the lake shore actually had great views. Sites were fairly large. Bathroom/showers were decent and cleaned in the mornings. The Eastern loops looked like some could accommodate RVs but more geared towards tents I think. The sites along the road got to hear the traffic very well. I couldn't find any good hiking trail maps. There are hiking trails from the East loop to the beach that is marked locally by a sign. There is also a nice trail from the North loops to the beach but there is no sign. One of the attached pictures is of a sign indicating where sites 101 to 119 are located. A bit to the right of that sign (West) is an unmarked trail. Go there. The other end by the beach is marked as Daigle Trail.
Dan S — Google review
If you are lucky enough to get a waterfront site the views are wonderful. Its also good for getting your feet wet or launching a kayak. The campsites are spread out enough for some privacy. The staff are usually friendly. The cons would be if you have noisy neighbors there is nothing you can do. I had neighbors that ran the generator from 10am to 10pm. Those are technically within noise making hours but listening to it for 12 hours sucked. Also the friendly staff leaves at 8pm so if you have an emergency or a problem there is no one to help you. The bathrooms are horrible. Just drive to the campground next door, Otter river or bring a camping toilet.

9.23.23 This place has lots of parking and there is a winery and next door, you can walk down or drive down, is their brewery. The brewery serves their wine. Or you can visit the winery, buy a bottle, then head over to the brewery. The winery has a tasting room and some indoor and outdoor seating. We prefer outdoor seating in the brewery area because there's more of it. We enjoyed a couple of their reds, but everyone has different tastes, so try a few. Staff is very friendly at the winery. Both places have different events, from live music to various vendors. This is a great place for date nights, small group events, and bigger functions.

Loved the autumn raspberry wine and the wine flight experience. The charcuterie board cart was well worth the money. Mini brie bite eith honey drizzle. So many great tent vendors.

Lively place with good staffing, nice wines, and a nice vibe. Bonus, they have a brewery on property too, so you can visit both. The winery was relaxed and chill while the brewery had many more people, live music, and a couple of food trucks. Appropriate feel for each. Go visit.

Stopped at the winery first and had a 5 tasting flight which I wasn't a fan of most of the wine I tried- but still worth the experience. Walked down to the brewery where there was music. Only sat for 1 beer which was a good sour. FYI for anyone like myself going to relax and attempt to have a nice adult evening... there were bus loads of children so if you are looking to escape kids-- the brewery portion is NOT the place to go. Otherwise it was an enjoyable evening.

Awesome experience at the winery today. The staff was very welcoming and great to interact with. There is a great selection of estate grown wines and a few others I'm sure you'll enjoy. The wine tasting included six samples. After the wine tasting, grab a bottle of wine (or two) and a wine infused slushy to top off the experience. Grab a cheese and cracker board and head outside. It was a beautiful fall day, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for everyone. We didn't tryout the onsite brewery, but I'm sure that is just as good. This was worth the drive. We will visit again.

Cute little winery we visited with some friends on the way back from the Woodstock fair. Seating was limited but the grounds were perfect to walk. Great tasting wine and slushies Don’t be fooled by what appears to be a hawk and bird fighting. It’s a tactic to keep predators off the grapes 🍇🤣🔊

My favorite winery! I’ve been coming here for about 3 years now. Their dessert wines are to die for, especially the chocolate essence and traminette. Give the wine dog a try too (a portion goes to a local dog rescue). I love coming in the winter time and enjoying a glass of wine in front of the warm wood stove. Pack your favorite snacks and enjoy an afternoon at Taylor Brooke! Since opening the brewery down below, they have gotten busier. Last time I went the line was super long and took a bit, but worthwhile in the end. There were a lot of open tables, but they said they were all reserved even though the website clearly states “no reservations”... no one sat at these empty tables for the 2 hours we were there so that was disappointing.

The wine and staff are amazing and the place is gorgeous! We were in for a bachelorette weekend and enjoyed a private dinner arrangement thanks to the owner. This winery saved our weekend after our accommodations cancelled last minute. I cannot say enough good things about our experience, the delicious wines and the super awesome staff. Can’t wait to visit again.

The Bradley Playhouse

Performing arts theater
Concerts & Shows
Theaters
This former vaudeville theater features assorted plays produced by a local performing arts company.
We loved this theater! We saw Something Rotten- it was great! The cast was great and the theater was beautiful. I don't think there's a bad seat in there! We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back. Vibrant down town with lots of great restaurants.

What a quaint little venue to see a play. Any seat in the house is a great one. My granddaughters and I were in the third row. The little mermaid was well done

Wonderful play. Can see from any place in the playhouse. We stayed the night, but playhouse was only one hour & 20 minutes from Oxford. Will go again. All musicals, which my grand daughter loves.

Wonderful theatre! Had a great experience last night (7/27/24) watching "Something Rotten." And there were plenty of nice restaurants for a meal before the show all within walking distance of the theatre. Hope to be back for another show.

UPDATE - winter 2021 We just attended the production of WHITE CHRISTMAS and it was fantastic. Great musicians and actors! We are so happy to have such a great theatre in this area! UPDATE- summer 2021 The Bradley is back in business and you need to be a part of it. We attended the John Denver tribute and it was the best. So much fun! A great old place, great people, great actors and overall wonderful entertainment! They have made the old Bradley theatre into a real gem of Putnam CT. Add dinner at one of the many restaurants and you have a great evening! Plenty of parking around town too, and interesting things to see as you walk along.

They always put on a great show. At a decent price. I’ve been going here since I was very young. My favorite plays from the past were Cinderella, Oklahoma, Fiddler on the Roof, And Then There were None. They’ve always got great variety to choose from over each season.

Recently saw the Addams family at the Bradley. The theater is beautiful, and the cast was very talented! The musicians were great. All of the volunteers were so kind and helpful. I will definitely be back to see more shows.

Wachusett Mountain Ski Area

Ski resort
Nature & Parks
Alpine ski resort with 27 diverse trails & 8 lifts, plus cafe & gastropub options at the base.
Wachusett Mountain is an amazing spot for skiing and snowboarding, especially if you’re looking for a well-maintained, convenient ski area close to Boston. The slopes are great for all levels, from beginners to experienced skiers, and the snowmaking is top-notch, ensuring solid conditions even when Mother Nature isn’t cooperating. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the lift lines move quickly, even on busy weekends. The lodge is clean and offers good food options, plus the rental process is smooth and hassle-free. Whether you’re here for a quick night session or a full day on the mountain, Wachusett never disappoints. Highly recommend for a fun, accessible ski experience!
Yusuf M — Google review
my experience was good. I went there for skiing. A little busy and messy. I think they need more lockers . Generally speaking, the organization could be improved during the weekends. I would visit it again👍 transportation is very convenient. Easy to access by public transportation from Boston, and the restaurant is good. We ordered black diamond hamburgers and the chicken sandwich 👍👍 In general, service was good too.

Pics are a mix from last Friday's perfect full coverage, and yesterday's (this Friday) half coverage. Early conditions are surprisingly good - very little ice and some great man-made snow after 2 days of rain. Staff is friendly and go out of their way to help you. I got a season pass for the 1st time in my life, at 40+ yrs old, and I can already tell it's worth it!!! Demo shop at Mountainside Ski shop is excellent too... i just got a great deal on last year's Gnu model & it rides great & I never would have tried it, except Dominic made a great recommendation, and Andy & Becky made the whole experience fun. Truly IS mountains of skiing minutes away. Ok... maybe an hr away? And sooo much easier than 3-6 hrs away for the BIGGEST mountains in VT/NH/CA... if you like your fun outdoor activities to be welcoming and special every time....come here.

It’s was amazing, once in a lifetime experience for me. It was my first time skiing and I took the beginners lesson, it was worth it, our instructor Jim explained everything in detail and was very patient with a rookie like me. I fell many times but still got up and keep trying by the end of the lesson, I was decent in turning and moving in balance. There’s a lodge, food court and huge parking.

Great annual ski swap / Octoberfest. Wish there were more food trucks and beverage choices. Still, the choices were not bad at all. Good turnout. Why not? 70 degrees weather was just perfect. I am sure the upcoming ski season will be busy.
Hemant A — Google review
Love this mountain and the teams that bring fun for everyone- no matter what season! Had a blast at the apple fest and the colors were on display as well as so many vendors to bring it to life. The ride to the top was the afternoon highlight.

After many years away, I finally went to Wachusett Ski area on Monday to check out the conditions and their trails. I’ve only heard about the overcrowding and bare trails from high traffic in recent years, so skipped trying to ski it last season. I’m skiing with a beginner-level skier, so finding places with enough terrain for them to build skills and confidence is essential. This place really only has 2 beginner trails and they’re on the same face of the slope, so the variety of terrain and steepness are similar. Luckily Ralph’s Run and Look Mom were manageable, but challenging, for the beginner skier. I checked out Conifer and decided it had too many steep spots for the beginner. Other blues that looked like they might be easier were closed when we were there. Monday is a great day to ski for the first 2 sessions because we didn’t have to wait in any lines, had no issues finding space for our gear, and it was a short walk from the parking area (row 9) to the main lodge. However, around 3:45pm things get chaotic with all the school programs coming in. It’s a totally different scene at that hour compared to the previous 6 hours, so plan accordingly. Great to see all the kids out and crushing it, but the crowds are practically suffocating. Snow quality is okay - packed, granular, and thin base. There are some icy patches, but overall, it’s what’s to be expected with weather conditions and elevation. Snow quality was significantly better at Pat’s Peak (NH). They did some late afternoon grooming of Conifer and 10th Mountain, and I got to run them while they were fresh - made a huge difference and was so enjoyable! Only 4 stars because I find the daily ticket price to be very expensive ($94) the quality of the cafeteria food to be super basic, the lodge interior to be rundown, and the restrooms in need of better lighting and cleanliness. We’re looking for ski places within a day trip from where we live, so choices are very limited.

I visited Mt. Wachusett last year during the early season when snow conditions were off to a weak start, but I was blown away by how quickly things turned around for an amazing second run the following weekend. This year, the 2024 season has already started on an even stronger note. Opening weekend was incredible—better than last year by far! The team here clearly works hard to maintain excellent conditions, and it shows. The runs were smooth, the atmosphere was great, and it’s the perfect place to kick off another exciting season. I’m thrilled to see what the rest of the season brings and can’t wait to keep riding at Wachusett. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic local mountain experience! I changed this review from a 4 to 5 star, the waffles slapped! 🔥

Great Wolf Lodge | New England

Resort hotel
Water & Amusement Parks
All-suite resort with some themed rooms, plus a huge indoor water park, kid's spa & bowling alley.
We had an amazing stay at Great Wolf Lodge! It’s truly the perfect place for a birthday celebration. Our kids had an absolute blast! Between the indoor water park, arcade, and all the fun activities, there was never a dull moment. The staff were super friendly and helpful throughout our visit, and the lodge itself was clean and cozy. There are food options on-site, but we also ventured out and tried nearby restaurants like Marcello’s and we highly recommend it! The food was fantastic. Can’t wait to come back!

Had a wonderful stay! Plenty of parking, easy check-in. The room was clean and spacious. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The swim rides were fun and refreshing. The musical entertainment (we went during the Howl ween month) was awesome for all ages. The breakfast buffet The next morning was delicious and well worth the money. Overall, not a single complaint. My wife loved every minute of our stay.

I would've given this Great Wolf's Lodge a 5 star but unfortunately they were doing som renovations and some of the restaurants and waterpark activities were being worked on. The breakfast buffet was moved to the conference room but was still decent. Most of the waterpark was still open and available. I loved that the temperature of the water was perfect. We've been to a few where later in the season the water is very cold and not enjoyable for toddlers. We were on the 4th floor near the lobby and our room seemed to be remodeled. My friends room was near the mini golf area and it was very nice and also remodeled. Very spacious for her and her family. The staff was absolutely amazing. The characters were excellent and super friendly and I loved that there are plenty of activities for the kids to do. We will definitely be back and hopefully all of the construction will be done

Great Wolf Lodge in Fitchburg, MA is a very nice hotel. It's great fun for families, especially children. It has recently been renovated, and looks nice. Be prepared to be nickeled and dimed. As of writing this review, daily parking rates are $19 PER DAY, per car. There is a $100 incidental hold PER NIGHT. Don't act surprised when you get there. Most booking sites list that information. It's up to you to read. There are no longer hair dryers and microwaves in every room (this is not updated on any booking sites or the Great Wolf Lodge site). Each floor has community microwaves in the hall areas close to the elevators. I'm unsure of the reason, but it's a bit ridiculous. My guess is to make people purchase food there. They want that $$$. There are many food options on-site, but be prepared to pay out the nose for meals. The food is just, okay. Nothing special about it, but it's not the worst. The water parks are fun and usually over crowded, but passes for dry activities need to be purchased separately. The wolf passes are the best value in my experience. The front desk staff is very friendly. Jensen was a great help and his smile made the check-in process a breeze. The security staff seems rude and lazy, and housekeeping tends to fall behind but seem pretty thorough in the rooms. Too many people park at the entrance when it's clearly posted "Do Not Park". This causes cars to be backed up and unable to get through. Guests are ignorant and feel entitled so they don't care about rules. Also too much cigarette smoke and marijuana smoke is on the property outside the building. The "No smoking" policy does 't seem to be enforced as well as it should be. Again, lazy security.

Great resort for kids! My 2 year old enjoyed the indoor Waterpark for hours and hours and never got bored. Arcade and build a bear was fun as well. There are many paid things to do and eat but they also don't prevent you from bring in your own food to save on money. We will be back!

This place is great. My daughter loves it. We have been like 4 times we just took her again last weekend for her birthday and had a blast. The only complaint I have is that they offered us a room that overlooked the lobby because it was ready early, so they said we could check in early. The woman at the desk told us that the only thing was that with it being close to the lobby that it was noisy during the day but that it was quiet at night, I figured it wouldn't be a problem since we planned on being at the Waterpark during the day. We'll they were blasting music so loud until like 9:00 at night. We were exhausted at like 8 and wanted to go to bed and we couldn't cuz it was so loud. She did not tell me that they would be blasting music until 9 pm. She just said noisy during the day. That really sucked. So I do not recommend getting a room overlooking or close to the lobby if they offer it, cuz it was a nightmare!

Always welcoming with a greeting and a smile. Ethan helped with wolf passes and was very helpful explaining them. Jessica was super helpful checking us in and helping us navigate the trouble with the bank. Rebecca and Carlos both had very friendly service and very accommodating and attentive. Justin was very passionate with bringing my daughter bear. Emily was very helpful with my daughter arcade experience. Kimberly was helpful with the bubble wands and I was able to teach her a cool function the violet wolf does. Branden was helpful with my daughter arcade experience. Mia was helpful in getting my daughter not to fear the zip line. Daniel was very helpful in the kids rope course too and rescued the birthday badge

Elm Park, a historic 60-acre public park established in 1854, has recently undergone a significant renovation, making it an ideal destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The park features reconstructed bridges, tennis and basketball courts, as well as winter skating opportunities. With landscaped walking paths, a playground, and a pond crossed by iconic footbridges on the east side of the park, Elm Park offers picturesque settings for picnics and leisurely strolls.
Beautiful urban park in the local historic district of Worcester that bears its name. This was the first park in the US where land was purchased expressly for the purpose of establishing a park for the public. While not a very large area, the ponds and pathways create a very pleasant and restful environment. Plenty of seating and a very nice area for children to play. Accessible for physically handicapped — wheelchair and walker friendly (except for the two bridges - but those don’t need to be crossed in order to enjoy the park).

I've always loved Elm Park 🏞️ I used to bring my girls there when they were little. My husband and I were in the area for our grandkids baptism and stopped at Elm Park just to go for a walk . It's still beautiful I love the bridge with the locks my husband and I will go back next time to place a lock of our own on the bridge we met in Worcester 20+ years ago and got married there in 2007 so we plan on getting back there whenever possible. It's usually clean and the paths are nice to walk through.

Nice little park right in town. It overlooks a pond and has a really cool bridge. Lots of swings and things for the wee ones. It was cold today, watch out for the ice. Definitely go back in the summer time! It's so beautiful without all the snow.

It's a great park, especially for being in a city area. There's a pond with a couple bridges and paths around it. The park is also full of art pieces and a historical tree. There's a nice playground for the kids. Only been there once so I'm not sure what else is around. I was there for an event which had porta potties so I'm not sure if there are bathrooms or the porta-potties are there all the time.

The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts is an opulent Renaissance-style space that has a rich history dating back to 1904 when it was originally known as the Franklin Square Theatre. Over the years, it has undergone several ownership changes and renovations, including the addition of a stunning two-story lobby with marbleized columns, mirrored walls, and a grand staircase.
Had an epic experience at The Hanover Theatre & Conservatory to see “To Kill A Mockingbird”. The inside is so beautiful and elegant. Great view of the stage. Clean restrooms. Outside there were vibrant light installations.

Went here last night with my Mom 11/08/24. To see Ain't too proud to beg The Life and Times of The Temptations. The performance was rather good . The performers were a " little chucky." But still really talented and still a pretty good show. The biggest issue with THT is that there's so many volunteers ( who don't seem like they care and do nothing) and less engaged with the people. A lot of Elderly volunteers, and they didn't know much and barely interacted with people into auditorium. The THT , needs a like bit of ( TLC ) , still quite pretty and differently needs some explanation like there foyer and the lobby they need to do something or you get a drink / souvenir or nothing at all. I didn't even have time to use the men's bathrooms the line ls were so long, and so we're the lines for snacks / beverages . They didn't even take our money our at the stand. We were going to order a cookie, and they just passed by us. Overall still a great performance. The performers needed more attire , the where they were wearing alot of the same clothes . They needed more of a variety of clothing and such like props etc.

I attended a performance of Shen Yun and I had a good time in spite of the cramped seats in the balcony. My friend, Author Itis and his brother Bruce complained and let me know it! The staff were professional and security did not give people a hard time. There is a metal detector at the entrances. I would empty your pockets before entering and have your ticket 🎫 ready before the metal detector. The lines to get in were long but they did move smoothly. I would try to arrive early but I had issues with parking 🅿️ so I was seated as the performance started. I liked the inside with its lights, chandeliers and ornate ceiling. The sound was good and my view 🙈 from the balcony was enjoyable. The men's bathroom was in good condition. The Shen Yun performance and choreography is a mixture of ballet 🩰, folk, tumbling and gymnastics. Though the man ♂️ and woman ♀️ who narrated the show said that the styles of dance originated from Chinese folk dance. Bright 🌞 vibrant colors from the costumes and the digital screen catch 🪝 the eyes 👀! The orchestra is a combination of both Chinese and European instruments. There are social and political messages that might be controversial. I ordered my ticket 🎟️ online and the price of the service fee was expensive! Be aware before ordering. I paid $85 so it really drove up the price. Was Shen Yun worth the $300+ ticket? No. But I did enjoy the show and so did the audience. I hope the performers and musicians receive a good wage from their excellent 👌 performances! I did speak 🗣️ to Chris and I had a pleasant conversation about my purchase. I purchased through Shen Yun and Chris was concerned that I was overcharged by a secondary seller. That is good customer service! If there is a performance I really want to see, I would consider visiting this theater 🎭 again!
Stephen P — Google review
Great theater, outstanding staff, really overpriced beverages and extremely narrow small sits. Excellent acoustics and great view from anywhere in the orchestra sitting area. I came to Brad Williams comedy show and was positively surprised by 2 opening comedians as well as a meet and greet at the end where we could take pictures with all the comedians and get autographs, buy merchandise and that was simply amazing!
Livia L — Google review
Great venue. Saw a concert and it was an amazing experience. Great acoustics and theater is nice. Lots of food and beverage choices within walking distance to grab a bite and drink before the show.

Don't let the outside construction ward you off from coming inside to see a show. The line moved seamlessly. Well staffed. Bathrooms were clearly marked and very clean. I sat in gold circle orchestra. The seats were comfortable and there was plenty of leg room. The sound system was great. Lighting was amazing. I liked that there were no stairs, it was sloped and carpeted. The drink prices were reasonable. Bottled water was 3.00. Easy in and out of the theater. I will attend again now that I know how amazing this page is.

The Worcester Art Museum is a renowned institution housing an extensive and diverse collection of over 35,000 artworks spanning more than 5,000 years. From ancient to contemporary pieces, the museum showcases European masterworks alongside global cultural artifacts. Visitors can admire paintings by renowned artists such as Monet and Goya, explore the silver collection by Paul Revere, marvel at floor mosaics from Antioch, and immerse themselves in cutting-edge contemporary art.
World class museum featuring a Monet masterpiece from his time in London. Ancient Rome fan? Fascinated by gladiatorial games? Well you in for a real treat, with an actual real Gladiator helmet from Ancient Roman times. Also some actual Ancient Rome busts of emperors Marcus Aurelius, Caligula, and Nero dating back to 1st Century AD. Also a Greek helmet dating back from 450 BC. Ancient Egyptian art dating back to 1980 BC. When you walk you the showstopper of the place is a big beautiful floor mosaic dating back to 500AD. Terrific tapestries, Rodin and Houdon sculpture. John Singer Sargent pieces. Also pretty cool Medieval stained glass from 1200s, and knight chain mail. Awesome tapestries and Japanese art exhibit when I went.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Egyptian and Sumerian artifacts at this museum. Loved the art and of course the Egyptian and Sumerian stuff. I thought they inherited the medieval armor but I only saw 1. Kids enjoyed the scavenger hunt and my 2 youngest did enjoy the story telling. Nice little thing to do around Worcester.

I've been visiting the Worcester Art Museum (WAM) on an occasional basis for decades, despite not living in the vicinity. Particularly given the size of the surrounding community, It continues to display an impressively varied "encyclopedic" collection, although as the buildings that house it have developed over the years, parts of the collection, notably including American and contemporary art, are less than favorably displayed and the circuitous traffic pattern can be difficult to navigate--and yes, this was the case well before the current massive construction reportedly intended to integrate their receipt of the late lamented Higgins Armory Museum collection. The European painting galleries manage to present a chronological review of painting traditions from early Italian gold leaf panels to works from the early twentieth century. There are several works by better known artists, ranging from a fine panel by Piero di Cosimo to canvases by J.S. Sargent, and many important artistic traditions are well represented, even if not necessarily by their foremost practitioners, although some of the works are hung so high, with such indifferent lighting, that they can be difficult to see. There is a fine medieval French chapter house permanently reinstalled off the Renaissance courtyard whose own floor is particularly noteworthy for its fine Roman mosaic, a relic from an earlier time when the Museum engaged in archeological endeavors. WAM also offers multiple rooms devoted to arts of Asian cultures. There is a regular program of special exhibitions, which in recent years have ranged from an extensive loan display of Rembrandt etchings to an installation from their own storerooms of several fine European tapestries, although the later would have benefited from more detailed and thoughtful labels. The WAM also has a long history of art educational endeavors to which an entire building is dedicated. For a time some years ago they had a very pleasant restaurant with table service, sadly long gone. Free parking is located across the street, but although technically accessible, the museum can be a challenge for those with mobility issues.
