Willow Creek Winery & Farm

Winery
Food & Drink
Nestled in the picturesque Cape May Island, Willow Creek Winery & Farm is a charming destination offering tours and wine tastings amidst lush vineyards and gardens. The impressive 12,000 square foot wine tasting room with its outside brick patio and fireplace provides an inviting ambiance for visitors to savor the vineyard's wines. With a 50-acre vineyard benefiting from a unique climate, the winery produces exceptional red and white varietals.
Great food and good wine. Amazing scenery, and superbly pleasant staff. Had Dylan as our waiter and he was knowledgeable and courteous. The buffalo chicken dip is great, the willow whip is really fun and tasty. The best part was probably the setting; indoors and out the place is beautiful. The reds are nice, but a nice icy drink like the willow whip or sangria will be great with outdoor seating.
G M — Google review
What a great experience at Willow Creek Winery - it’s a beautiful place with really good food and wine. I was pleasantly surprised. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating - tons of photo ops. But it was Heather who went above and beyond to make sure the wine flights we selected were suited to our tastes and our experience exceeded expectations. She was spot on, also. We all enjoyed our picks! She was so friendly, knowledgeable (answered all of our questions about grapes, barrels and more) and patient (explaining and re-explaining)! A total hidden gem in Cape May. Will be back for sure and thanks Heather!
Megan N — Google review
This was my first time visiting a vineyard, and Willow Creek Winery & Farm truly impressed me. The drive in already felt special—passing through rows of beautiful vineyards before arriving at a full parking lot, showing how popular the place is. The winery offers two styles of service: one with table service and another where you order and then find your own seat. The atmosphere is absolutely lovely, and I highly recommend going around 4–5 p.m. when the sunlight is soft and perfect for photos. Normally, I’m not a drinker, but I had to taste their wines, and the menu I tried was so delicious. Overall, I really loved the experience here—it’s not just about the wine, but also the relaxing vibe and the beautiful setting.
Emmy V — Google review
Heather was the best server with the best suggestions. Our visit was extremely pleasant and we will be coming back to try the combo platter and have the highly-recommended, signature willow whip again (our favorite for the day). The Wilde cock white bottle was good for crispy white wine lovers, and the wild cock prestige white bottle was even better if you are a Chardonnay lover.
Kelly M — Google review
First of all, this winery has some very good dry wines (I was more prepared for NJ sweet stuff, but their Malbec was truly exceptional); they have wonderful premises with lots of picturesque vines to stroll through; food menu is solid, with some great highlights: bacon wrapped scallops were incredibly flavorful, pulled pork sandwich juicy, and burger a perfectly balance mouthful (sadly, fries was very good, too!). Highly recommend to anyone in the area
Olga E — Google review
My group had a wonderful time at Willow Creek. We did the educational wine tasting and it was fantastic. Ryley was our wine educator and he was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the ambiance was stunning. I would highly recommend Willow creek for a day out and wine tasting. Ask for Ryley! Terry
Terry L — Google review
Our stay at Willow Creek Winery was absolutely perfect! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and so peaceful. The property itself is stunninglush vineyards, beautiful scenery, and such a relaxing vibe. The wine tastings were incredible, with a great variety to choose from, and each one was delicious. The staff was not only knowledgeable but also genuinely friendly, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Our stay on the property was just as wonderful. The accommodations were clean, cozy, and thoughtfully put together, giving us that perfect mix of comfort and charm. Waking up to the view of the vineyards felt like a dream. Everything was so well taken care of, and we truly felt like we could just unwind and enjoy ourselves. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a fun trip with friends, or just some time to relax and sip amazing wine, Willow Creek Winery is the perfect spot. We can’t wait to come back! 🍷🌿The Staff were so sweet and kind. Ps We LOVED THE SEASONAL WILLOW WHIP SOOOOO GOOD
Yarielis V — Google review
A lovely winery!! Tons of seating both indoor and outdoor so you don’t need to worry about having a reservation. They also have a fun Alice in wonderland theme going on. Perfect scenery and location, especially being so close to beach plum farm. The food was really good- one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I’ve had! Only complaint is completely my opinion and I’m probably being picky but the prosecco was SO sweet (too sweet for a prosecco) and a bit hard to put down. The drink prices in general are steep for what you get, the wine is decent, but not amazing (I also tried the white wine my husband ordered). I would still definitely go back since it’s a beautiful property, staff were pleasant and attentive and the food was delish. 5 stars all around because I didn’t try enough of their wine selection to have a reasonable opinion.

The Cape May Lighthouse, built in 1859, offers stunning panoramic views from its top and features an oil house-turned-museum with a gift shop. Visitors can also enjoy various activities nearby such as golfing, dining at fine restaurants, boating, kayaking, saltwater fishing, crabbing, dolphin and whale watching, sightseeing cruises and more. Additionally, the area is home to several attractions including the Cape May Zoo and Wildwood's famous boardwalks.
We didn't climb the lighthouse this time because I believe we did in the past. The fee to climb is $12 per person (adult). You can see the area near the lighthouse for free. They have a little garden type of place and a boat which used to be a rescue boat back in time. It's a beautiful place, very well maintained. There are 2 accesses to the ocean nearby, but that's not for swimming. High free parking lot. A food truck can be found during the summer season in the parking lot. I recommend visiting the Cape May lighthouse. I love climbing them. Lighthouses have individual histories. It's a nice place. Cape May, New Jersey USA 🇺🇸
Dinara G — Google review
We visited on 8/20/2025. Climbed with 5 boys aged 3-7 years old and they had a great time. The stairs inside are pretty wide and there are stopping points by the windows, as you go up/down, to rest or let others pass by. The views at the top are definitely worth it!
Laura L — Google review
Must see attraction. Beautifully preserved site. Managed by super polite people. The climb is worth the scene from above. Also must visit the souvenir shop, the older gentleman is so adorable. The museum alongside is very interesting. Hike on path trails and time your visit with sunset to watch from the beach. It's breathtaking Plenty of parking available
Shabby A — Google review
The Cape May Lighthouse is such a stunning spot! Even without going up to the top, the surroundings alone are worth the visit. The area around the lighthouse is beautiful, peaceful, and full of charm — perfect for a relaxing walk and to take in the scenery. It’s a great place to enjoy nature, history, and the coastal views all at once. Definitely a highlight in Cape May!
Ariane T — Google review
Fun place. You can go up inside the lighthouse too. It was free for us to visit. It was a great place to take photos. They even have a gift shop and oil house. The beach is right behind it so it’s a nice spot. They have a play area and lots of parking. We went in off season though.
Amanda M — Google review
This is a great family activity with a cherry on top - great views from the top or this well maintained and still working Lighthouse. This place offered a great exercise climbing 199 steps up and then going down but the most impressive thing is the amazing views of all of Cape May, the ocean, and the Delaware Bay. Highly recommend this experience when in Cape May on a clear day!
Kosta R — Google review
This was just a stop for a day trip at Cape May. We were lucky it was not crowded at all. Perfect weather for October. Not too many stairs to climb. Max pulse 126
Andrey G — Google review
What a neat place. Don't like heights much, but going down the stairs wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. 199 steps. Each window alcove had pictures and explanations about the structure and what life was like. Nice view from the catwalk(?) that you are allowed to traverse. Wish the gift shop had lighthouse pens! There was access to the beach from the parking lot, a mini museum, and boardwalk trails around the ponds, with opportunities for birdwatching. Ran out of time to do all three trails. Worth visiting!

Nature & Parks
Cape Henlopen State Park, a serene sanctuary set on a former military base, provides an array of attractions for nature enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Visitors can explore World War II lookout towers at Gordons Pond Beach and delve into the historical significance of Fort Miles Historical Area. The park also boasts scenic trails that wind through coastal marshes and wooded terrain, offering glimpses of natural beauty. Additionally, the Seaside Nature Center provides an educational experience focused on local wildlife and habitats.
Cape Henlopen State Park and the historic Fort Miles area are absolute gems on the Delaware coast. We spent several days exploring the park and came away with a deep appreciation for both its natural beauty and its layered history. The bike trail is one of the best we’ve ridden—smooth, scenic, and well-marked. You can easily make a 20-mile loop starting in Rehoboth, riding through the park, stopping in Lewes, and heading back. Along the way, there are gorgeous views of the bay, wooded stretches, salt marshes, and dunes. Perfect for early morning rides—especially if you catch the sunrise over the water. The Fort Miles Historic Area is a must-see. The preserved WWII bunkers and watchtowers are fascinating, especially for kids (and adults) interested in military history. One of the highlights of our trip was climbing to the top of one of the old watchtowers and taking in the sweeping view of the Atlantic. The lighthouse, though only accessible by boat, makes for great photo ops from the shore. We stopped there on foot and caught some great light for pictures in the evening. From wildlife and wide beaches to history and family-friendly trails, this place has it all. A perfect blend of outdoor adventure and quiet reflection.

Came here with my wife during our 1-year anniversary trip 😊 Our entry wasn't the greatest, we didn't have any cash and the ranger seemed disappointed by this. She told us that we could go to the kiosk and it'd take "A minute and a half." No it doesn't 😂 Does she really think someone my age carries cash? 😂 But after that everything was cool! The observation tower you can climb up is neat and gives you a great view of the surrounding area. And just seeing the guns up close is crazy, they're so big! The beaches are nice too, though some of the sand was a little squishy for our tastes. And its a great spot to go birding if you're into that! We saw hundreds of birds here! Definitely worth a stop if you're visiting Delaware regardless of hobbies 👍🏻
Zachary F — Google review
Cape Henlopen State Park is one of the best destinations in Delaware. The beaches are clean, wide, and perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or fishing. The trails are well-marked and offer great hiking and biking through dunes, forests, and marshes. The WWII observation towers and Fort Miles add interesting history to the visit. Restrooms and facilities were very clean and well-kept, and parking was easy with plenty of space. Wildlife is abundant—you can spot deer, birds, and more along the trails. Whether you want to relax on the beach, explore nature, or learn some history, Cape Henlopen has it all.
Bryan R — Google review
Tent camped for four nights at the end of September. Ocean was still warm. We saw dolphins and lots of Osprey. The hawk watch folks were out monitoring for migrating birds. Cape Henlopen has an unusual ecosystem. Trails take you through sandy vernal pools that have cranberries, low and tall blueberries, bayberry, sassafras, and pine trees. We enjoyed hiking through this forest. We also loved the roughly 16 mile bike loop through Gordon's pond and nearby developments. Also enjoyed riding bikes into town for dinner or ice-cream. Don't forget to visit Fort Miles, climb the WWII tower, and visit the north beach access which offers both the bay and ocean beaches.
Sara S — Google review
This a wonderful park! I want to highlight especially the Bike Barn where you can loan adult and kid bikes and helmets for free (donations appreciated!) and the staff is kind, friendly and eager help. The loop is 3 miles which you can easily bike with just a few moderate/gentle hills. A short walk from the Bike Barn is a fantastic playground which is partially shaded, with benches and picnic tables in the shade as well- a gift for parents with young kids. We can’t wait to come back! Oh and they have a water station where you can refill your water bottles!
Erica M — Google review
This is a campground for RVs and tents. They also have cabins available. They have a huge hike and bike trail. Beautiful. This is a WWII historical place that once was a military base. 🇺🇸 1.5 miles from the Atlantic Ocean.
Ken H — Google review
Cape Henlopen State Park is a large park with many biking paths, trails, beaches, a fishing pier, and WWII towers. One is open to climb to the top to view of the surrounding area. Herring Point is a beach frequented by surfers, and the Main Beach has a nice bathhouse and boardwalk over the dunes to a lovely stretch of beach. One may also visit Fort Miles Museum and the Seaside Nature Center within the park. The park also has an area for camping. We watched a pod of dolphins from the main beach one day and saw crabs and shore birds. Spend part of a day or several days at Cape Henlopen State Park. You will be glad you did.
Carol J — Google review
This was our third time camping here and probably the most eventful. Came in a rainstorm and slept through a lot of sweltering heat which was not pleasant. But the beach was very nice. The amenities are kept clean. There was also a ridiculous amount of jellyfish this year, and nearly every person in our family got stung this year which is unfortunate. But I still enjoyed the time camping.

Went on the Ocean City tour this past weekend. Glenn was a fabulous tour guide. There is a lot of history to be learned on this tour, not just ghost stories. Definitely learned a lot and highly recommend.

I did the Berlin tour!! Honestly the best ghost tour I've been on :) it was a long night time walk, which was very lovely and spooky, but wear comfy shoes and use the bathroom before leaving. Also if you can't do long walks or have trouble seeing it could be difficult since it's quick and in the dark. But if you can do it, I totally recommend it ! Along with the thrilling ghosts and town mysteries, I learned a bunch about Berlins history! Our tour guide was Karen and she was very nice! She kept things interesting, you can tell she likes what she does! Anyway, I loved the tour very much and I would totally do it again!

We had a great time on the St Michael’s tour. Our tour guide was fun and entertaining with lots of stories.

In my opinion, no vacation or trip is complete without a ghost tour. Despite the thunderstorms and the rain, I genuinely enjoyed the tour. A great mix of OC Maryland and the surrounding history (and some local lore) I highly recommend them for ghost tours. Some of my favorite stops was the Henry House and the OC Lifesaving station, since their tales are both one of a kind.

Zoos & Aquariums
Salisbury Zoological Park is a popular attraction nestled in a shady park along the Wicomico River. Founded over 50 years ago, it houses animals from the Americas in naturalistic habitats and aims to promote animal conservation and environmental awareness. The zoo offers free admission and features informative signs at each enclosure. It is considered handicapped-friendly with ample paths and ramps.
Took my kids (7&9) over Spring break from Lewes, DE. They had a great time! A great variety of animals and took us about 90 minutes to walk throughout the park. The park was clean and well kept! Will definitely be back in the fall! 🐒🦅🦙🐻🦩
Ryan M — Google review
Free to visit park that takes donations to help animals. Visited in Aug. with two kids 5-4 and both had a great time! The zoo isn’t a huge one and doesn’t have the best of everything but had a decent amount of enclosures with signs posted of more animals coming and the size made it easily walkable with the youngins. If in the area we believed it to be a nice FREE thing to do for a couple hours and enjoy time outside with the family
Austin G — Google review
Salisbury Zoological Park is such a gem. It’s completely free to visit (which is amazing), though they do accept donations—and honestly, they deserve every bit of support. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to chat and share info about the animals. The grounds are clean, well maintained, and you can really see the care that goes into every enclosure. Over the years, the park has continued to grow and improve, and it’s clear they prioritize the well-being of their animals. Whether you’re local or just passing through, it’s absolutely worth a visit.

We absolutely love this Free Zoo! We highly recommend making a small donation. They have a great selection of animals, they are well cared for. The playground is awesome. This is a great spot to take a break from the beach.

This was a great stop to make, got to see lots of neat animals, our favorite was the beavers and the bison. The play ground was awesome. All the staff was friendly and the animals enclosures were all well taken care off
Courtney D — Google review
Beautiful place. Free admission, but you can make a donation in the box at the entrance. Animals all seemed very well cared for and had good sized exhibits. We were there during feeding time, so it was cool to see all of the activity. The grounds were well maintained and trash free. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

Free Zoo (Donations accepted, please support them and donate in lieu of their free entry...donation box as you enter park!). Beautifully done with some great exhibits. Come see Wallaby, Flamingos, American Buffalo, Red Wolf, snakes...there are free shows, and on Saturdays and Thursdays there are animal interactions. The area is gorgeous, and they even have a playground for the children. 100% suggest a drop in.

It is a history museum that offers a wide variety of air force planes, including the largest C-5 Galaxy in the country, and we were allow to explore the control tower and some aircraft cockpits. Entry was free so as parking. The staff were mostly veterans, very polite, friendly and knowledgeable. We like the flight simulator and had the opportunity to hear stories from veterans. It was awesome to see in their magazine some countries in Africa with Air Force bases especially our beloved Cameroon, Nigeria and Gabon.

Last year, I went to the Air Mobility Command Museum to see a plane I used to work on. I was amazed at the history that is at this museum. The planes range from early World War II through present day. The tour guides are very friendly and most are incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the planes. It's been a great experience every time I go. They have what they call "Open Cockpit Day" on the third Saturday of the month from April through October. On these days, they open up almost all of their planes, weather permitting, so visitors can see more of the planes from the inside.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Wonderful exhibits. You never realize how huge the planes really are until you see them up close. Incredible! Great for all ages.

I took my two grandsons to the AMC Museum and we had a really good time. The displays and descriptions provided are really well done. There's a couple of planes inside the museum that you can actually walk up into the cargo area. There's about 15 aircraft outside that you can walk around and 3 or 4 (C130, C141, & C5A) that you can actually enter and walk around the cargo area. My grandsons loved it and had a really good time. We were fortunate enough to see a C17 take off and land and we were very close to the runway which really made them happy. Have a guide when you go because you'll have more access to go inside certain displays, which we neglected to do. The museum also has a store where you can buy toys, clothing, postcards, etc. The parking lot isn't very big but seems to have more than enough spaces for the museum. I don’t think I'd want to try and drive up there in an RV though. Great trip overall. My grandsons were smiling the entire time.

Great place to stop and learn about the history of planes used in the Air Force. The volunteers were knowledgeable and friendly, and there’s so much to see and do. The gift shop is also worth checking out.

I'm not a history or military person, but this was amazing. We toured inside of planes & got first hand storys from those who "had been there & done that". They stayed open late to make sure we saw it all. We were there 2 hours & had to hurry to see it.

An absolutely amazing museum and a must do for anyone in the area. If you are a fan of military aviation, definitely worth a trip.

My first time to play casino games. Wasn’t bad. Didn’t spend much but we had fun. The staff personnels were great. The casino is very organize and they have restrooms inside. Plenty of room to park a semi in south lot.

I attended the Delaware State Fair for the first time, July 22, 2025, and I had a blast! While enjoying the fair activities, food, and vendors, my with and I attended the Cece Winans concert, thousands were in attendance praising God! And another highlight was running into a college schoolmate! What a memorable experience. 💖

This Casino is a little slice of Vegas... Whether you're playing slots or tables, getting a sandwich from Bolo's or a steak dinner from Bonez, this is probably the best Casino experience in the area. Fun fact, this is the longest consistently open Harness Horse Racing track, dating back to 1915 if I remember correctly. Definitely a fun way to keep busy if you're in the Delaware area.

I personally I can't rate the rooms because I did not get a room there. I went there honestly just to kill time Friday afternoon and it was very laid-back not too much commotion drinks were fair price and a lot bigger than I was thinking it was. It's my first time ever being there but I will definitely be going back more often now.

This is my second stay at this hotel, and unfortunately, it has been the most disappointing experience I have ever had with any establishment. At 6:30 AM this morning, I was charged $115.22 without my knowledge or consent, and I did not receive a bill or receipt for this transaction. This constitutes unauthorized billing, which is not only unacceptable but could be considered fraudulent. The charge was only reversed after I escalated the matter to the manager at the front desk, and I was told it would take several days before the funds return to my account. That's 215 dollars due to the 100 incidental charge. I was further informed that this has happened to multiple guests, which is deeply concerning. Despite this significant inconvenience and breach of trust, no one offered any form of acknowledgment or compensation. I no longer feel comfortable staying here, yet I am unable to obtain a refund for the following night, leaving me stuck in a situation I would never have chosen. The rooms are subpar, there are no amenities available, and the overall lack of accountability is unacceptable. I strongly caution anyone considering this property to look elsewhere.
Ariana P — Google review
The staff is friendly, they receive you with kindness and professionalism at the front desk and everyone says good morning/good afternoon. The rooms are clean and the place looks like a luxury resort. I’ve stayed at other hotels in the area and in the same price range, this one is definitely the best.

I had a deplorably experience today at Bally’s this morning simply playing a game I got harassed by Joe Fredricks who told me he had been watching me personally for 20 minutes while playing the slots and as he rudely interrupted me play her also decided to tell me how long he’s been in his position as if that was some how justified his belligerent actions. I’m a Supper Star card holder and have be visiting that casino since it was Dover Downs. And I’ve never felt so disrespected being interrupted while playing harassed all while watching other players do the samething and not even be approached. He even went so far as to say people keep coming in here messing the machines up and as a black male I would like to know what he meant by that. Giving I was the only people being harassed.

Staff was courteous and friendly, room was very clean, however for being a 4-star hotel there's no complimentary breakfast, there was a $50 fee to check in 2 hours early, the indoor pool doesn't work.
Ashley S — Google review
This location is supposed to have a working pool, if the pool is not going to be operational in the near future it should not be listed as an amenity, very disappointing especially due to it being summer. The rooms are fine, clean. I rated 3 stars because there's no microwave in the room. I asked if there was a way to heat my food and was told no.. Otherwise the staff is friendly and attentive. Housekeeping handled my requests immediately and parking was easy.

Shopping
Christiana Mall is a large shopping venue that features popular brand-name stores, a food court, and various sit-down restaurants. It also boasts a movie theater for entertainment. The mall has ample parking space with a big parking lot to accommodate visitors. One of the main highlights is the huge Target store which is conveniently located on one floor along with other cool stores. Brio Italian Grille restaurant comes highly recommended for its amazing cuisine. The mall maintains high standards of cleanliness and upkeep throughout its premises.
Wide variety of stores, some are upscale and also a food court with several outlets. Some restaurants are located at the mall’s perimeter. Parking is ample and easy to find.
Jim L — Google review
I have been to this mall throughout my life on multiple occasions, but it has been a rare treat to come to this mall in my post-East Coast tenure of living in the area. The mall, however has managed to maintain two things amid an area of changes, tax-free shopping and high quality stores. Coming into this mall also on a Tuesday Afternoon, another thing that did not disappoint were the levels of the crowds, as there was something for everybody, despite being a weekday, where malls are known to be slow in terms of productivity in sales. Just for reference of how large this mall is, there are stores such as GAP, Rolex, Levi's, The North Face, Fan Treasures, The LEGO Store, and many others fit for all interests and needs in the form of physical shopping. Better than just getting your needs shipped to you. If you're hungry, then there is a lot of food options, both in the mall, and on the outparcels, gone, however, are the days of Don Pablo's and McDonald's on the site of the mall. Replaced by Popeyes and a Brazilian Steakhouse. Additionally, places such as Shake Shack, Main Event, Brio Tuscane Grille, The Cheesecake Factory, and even Bertucci's in the Town Center. The malls food court also offers robust options ranging from Popeye's, Five Guys, and Chick-Fil-A, up to SaladWorks, Mrs. Fields, TCBY, Cinnabon, and Carvel, all of which are catered to the wants of the consumer and their tastes that they may have. Still, the mall manages to be upkept properly in the state despite not being here in nine years, as it remains the only real mall in the State of Delaware that is thriving. Come here if you have nothing to do, or want to burn some time in the First State.

Christiana Mall is thriving. Great stores, Macy's, Nordstrom, JC Penny and other fine shops. Since the mall near me is pretty much empty, I enjoyed mall shopping here. Food court, climate controlled, easy parking.

The Christiana Mall is wonderful! We started browsing in their and it’s a greatest mall I’ve ever been to in my entire life ( equally to American Dream) but too bad it’s very expensive there and I didn’t get any thing there ( except a pair of sweet pant shorts from GAP and a slice of cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory)! I had a great time there and I wish they would do better with their prices. I can’t wait to visit the next time.

My husband and I had some time to waste and this was the perfect activity! The captain and bartender were both so amazing!! Super friendly! We did the relaxation cruise and it did not disappoint! If we’re ever around, definitely making it a point to go back!!

We are very disappointed! Today, we had planned to take a little boat trip to celebrate my Moms 65th birthday. Unfortunately, we got a call saying they are canceling our time slot and we have to move to another time slot. Which we are unable to do so. We planned our day just so with people coming in from out of town. This is unacceptable. Also, NOT the first time they’ve done this. However, if you do make it on the boat, you will have a great time!

We went on the 1:30 tour. The group was small, but Diane and John took care of us. The were very pleasant and personable. The boat took us down the Canal and out hosts shared some history and fun details about the area. The drinks were great too.

Fantastic!! We had a group of 9 people (7 adults/2 children) on board MV Breeze 2-hour evening cruise on 25 September 2021. The owner Steven, super personable, returned all my calls, answering all my questions, and helped me with the booking. We had a memorable time celebrating my mother’s big birthday. The weather couldn’t be better. The captain gave us some history lessons and local knowledge of the areas. The boat was very clean and drinks were great!! Cover charges and drink prices were very reasonable. There were only 2 other couples with us on this public cruise which pretty much felt “private” and we couldn’t complain. If you’re looking for some relaxation with beautiful views with friends/family, this would be it!! We would definitely return the next time we’re in the area. Thank you again Steven and all your staff!!

I loved that they allowed us to bring our Rottweiler n yellow Labrador on the boat. What an experience!! My husband accidentally knocked over my drink and it was replaced immediately. Captain and crew were super friendly. 2 hrs for little money. It was a no-brainer!

This is not a huge boat. It's sized for about 20 people, give or take. That makes it a much more personal experience interacting with the crew. Both the captain and the hostess were very friendly, pointing out places of interest along the way. The captain even stopped the boat so we could get pictures of bald eagles. Is recommend this for small groups or couples.

I recently had a scheduled cruise out of Chesapeake city. It was cancelled due to weather. I understand that is out of their control. What is in their control is returning phone calls and following through on refunds. I hope anyone that uses them has no issues because they don’t do customer service if you have a problem. I’m not too sure of the foul weather was the reason why we didn’t get underway either. Was told by the captain the Coast Guard issued a weather advisory. I’ve been in for about 10 years now, never heard of us doing that. NOAA handles weather advisories. Really disappointed in what was supposed to be a great evening with my wife.

The Herr's Snack Factory Store is a visitor center that specializes in potato chips and other snacks. The family-owned business has been operating since 1946 and annually decorates their factory with beautiful Christmas lights. Highly recommend visiting to see the display! The chips are also delicious!
Excellent place with friendly staff. This was a perfect place for a family outing on a dreary day. The tour was fascinating and included freshly cooked chips, hot off the assembly line. The tour guide was great and answered all our questions.

What a fun and informative experience!!! Such a great family friendly and inexpensive rainy day activity (or a sunny day)! Our tour guide Austin was very informative and super friendly! The entire tour took about an hour and we got to parts of production of how potato chips are made! From the whole potato to hot fresh chips off the line! And you will never have a potato chip that good anywhere else! Absolutely must see if you are in the area! They have an amazing Christmas light display too during the holidays!
Brittany S — Google review
Had a great experience at Herr’s factory tour! We purchased tickets in advance, they were reasonably priced and easy to purchase. We very much enjoyed our tour. It was interactive and fun, with hot chips at the end! It’s about an hour, you get to see multiple locations, good for all ages. I’d suggest wearing comfy and sturdy sneakers as it can be slippery in some spots from the oil. Additionally, our tour guide was a very friendly and knowledgeable man. Would definitely recommend!
Stephanie D — Google review
Herr's snack factory was a great stop during a small road trip along the way. The tour took about an hour by a wonderful guide named Valerie. She loved telling people about the legacy of Herr's and how the production takes place. There is some walking and standing involved, but this factory tour is actually in an observational room in the factory, not watching a video of a factory. It's very well engineered to safely observe without compromising food production. We learned a lot and I was amazed at the automation of the process. The best part is the fresh, hot chips at the end of the tour. Then you come back to the gift shop where you'll find something for every snack lover in your family. Stock up on the welll priced oops snacks for a great deal. We got a bag full!
Jeremy K — Google review
What a great tour! For adults and kids too! Our tour guide Matt was awesome. . Gave us lots of fun facts and educated us on the production of the snacks made from start to finish.. He answered all questions with ease. The best part of the tour…. Tasting the hot chips right off the production line! Nice ending to a great tour! Cute little gift shop. Many gift ideas . I would highly recommend!
Mae S — Google review
We really enjoyed the tour. We had visitors from the west coast & this was a perfect activity for a rainy, chilly day. The staff was personable, very informative, & the chips straight off the conveyor at the end were a welcome treat. The gift shop was well-stocked & there was a large “oops” section offering half-priced products that didn’t quite meet their exacting standards. Everything we purchased has been excellent. The entire plant was very clean & our guests were so impressed to be able to tour Herr’s as they had never been on a tour like that before. By the way, one of our group is a “cheese curls connoisseur”. She purchased a bag & declared them to be the best she had ever eaten. We are local residents so now we are excited for one of the greatest Christmas displays that can be enjoyed at no charge throughout the season. It’s always been a “must see” for our family. Thank you, Herr’s for giving our community such an amazing display every year.
Peggy W — Google review
Great place to go to with the family. We went here for a school field trip and had a blast. Now like most places they offer a gift shop selling various items like apparel, toys, snacks, and beef products. Yes you heard me correctly they sell beef here at Herr's too. It's actually an interesting story behind it. Which is told during a short film that's shown during the tours they offer. After your tour you get to taste the warm potato chips fresh out the oven. They are delicious 😋 To say the least I will never look at Herr's the same way, as I have a new profound outlook and respect for the company. Definitely will be back soon! :)
Christiana G — Google review
Such a wonderful tour and friendly staff! The history of the company along with the way they make all of their delicious products was a great time for my family. Who knew there was a 65 mph chip… ( you’ll have to ask about that story to your guide, thanks Tim! )

Museums
Located in the picturesque town of St. Michaels, Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is an 18-acre waterfront venue that offers a deep dive into the bay and its people. Visitors can explore exhibits, take part in activities, and even enjoy boat rides. The museum's working shipyard showcases the region's maritime history, while a stroll along Talbot Street provides access to colorful shops selling everything from premium olive oil to crab-adorned T-shirts and hats.
We didn't know what to expect with this museum, but were really impressed by it! It is very well worth the visit, and there's more than enough to see in the 2 days the admission fee covers. At the beginning, someone went over the map with us, and explained some about the buildings. That was really helpful. It's not just a museum, but an entire complex of various buildings that are really each museums. I couldn't possibly do it justice by describing it- if you are considering going, you definitely should! I really enjoyed seeing the variety of boats, and the building that was built all around an oyster boat was probably my favorite. You could walk through it, hearing about it with the narration, and seeing all the different parts. There were fun facts about oysters all around, as well as a complete history of the oyster business in the area, canning, and even oyster wars! The lighthouse was pretty interesting, and showed all of the keeper's quarters set up, as well as some information about the various keepers, and a big map of all the area lighthouses. There was a whole building that showed about the blue crab, and the crab picking industry. There was a building that had lots of history and information about people enjoying the water in various ways over the years. As you walk around, the view of the harbor and the water is beautiful as well. The museum store is beautifully arranged, and contains a great variety of souvenirs and items having to do with the water.

Beautiful museum and campus of buildings make up the museum property. We did the patriot boat tour and museum combo. The boat tour is listed as a 70 min narrated historical tour, but it’s more commentary than history. It was a great time and the different buildings at the museum cater to all ages. There is not much to do in St Michael’s other than eat, shopping and boating, so happy we went.
Beth K — Google review
We had heard this museum was a must see and it didn't disappoint. One fee for a two-day ticket that was not expensive. There is a lot of area to cover, so it was nice to know we could come back. We visited in October so it was not crowded. We spoke with a very friendly painter who had been working on one of the boat and he told us a bit more about the place. Plenty of self-guided areas and exhibits. We enjoyed the ship building work - it was interesting to see the process step as well as the volume of lumber stocked and waiting to be used. Beautiful views from the lighthouse. I enjoyed walking among and reading about the exhibit boats they had on display, each with a detailed history of ownership and uses over time. Amazing. The collection of outboards showed the changes over time - I can't imaging heading out into the sea with one of those old-timers even when it was brand new. Definitely worth the time and money.

I really enjoyed this museum and its emphasis on local maritime heritage - crabbing, oyster catching and boat building. I spent a couple of hours wandering around the various buildings and learned a lot.

Pleasant place to relax. The Susquehanna River and its vast expanse flows alongside as you walk the Promenade. The Promenade is at least a 1/4 mile long. Maybe a 1/2 mile. It's enough to get your walk on. The Promenade is a very cool place and a good use of public space. You will find the historic Concord lighthouse, the historic house of the Lighthouse Keeper, a duck decoy museum, (no never visited), an eatery for a quick bite, a marina, and places along the Promenade where people fish for dinner. There's a pier that juts out into the Susquehanna. People fish there. Another spot where people fish right from shore is located near the eatery. Find this peaceful gem of a place in Havre de Grace, MD just off Rt 40 and down Revolution Road to its end. Make right. See lighthouse to your left. I come for the Nature. The place is a show-off with nature, birdlife and the river with its lapping "baby" waves. Its' a place where you can sit back, relax, take in the view and breath fresh air. Nice! People are friendly, too. -Bill Curtis /New Mark Advertising Specialties

Top all this off with a wide range of shops and places to eat nearby and you have a place to spend the day or a vacation. Love this place.

Drum Point Lighthouse, built in 1883, is a well-preserved wood and cast iron structure that once served as a guardian of the harbor entrance. It is one of only four surviving screw pile lighthouses in the Chesapeake Bay out of the original 42. Visitors can climb to the top floor and experience life as a lighthouse keeper, navigating narrow winding stairs to reach the impressive Fresnel Light.
It was a family trip for Memorial Day! We all had a great time! Loved going up in the lighthouse for the first time! We plan to go back for the boat ride!
Dashell F — Google review
It was pretty well-maintained with a lot of knowledgeable staff to give you a quick history of the lighthouse. Very interesting to visit. Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing when visiting since it would require you to climb up and down a ladder.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 stars) Drum Point Lighthouse at the Calvert Marine Museum is a must-see for anyone interested in maritime history and coastal culture. The beautifully restored screwpile lighthouse, one of only three left of its kind on the Chesapeake Bay, offers a unique and authentic glimpse into the life of a 19th-century lighthouse keeper. Its relocation to the museum's waterfront in 1975 saved it from vandalism and neglect, making its preservation a remarkable story in itself. What to Expect 🧭 A visit to the Drum Point Lighthouse is an immersive experience. The lighthouse, originally built in 1883, has been furnished with period items, some of which were donated by the family of the last keeper. You'll get to see the living quarters, including the kitchen and bedroom, giving you a real sense of the keeper's daily routine. The highlight is the climb to the top, where you can see the well-preserved Fresnel lens and enjoy stunning views of the Patuxent River. The knowledgeable staff and volunteers often provide engaging historical context, and you may even hear a few ghost stories. Overall Experience The lighthouse is a captivating centerpiece of the Calvert Marine Museum. While the entire museum is worth exploring for its exhibits on maritime life and paleontology, the Drum Point Lighthouse stands out as the main attraction. It's a great stop for families and history buffs alike. The admission fee for the museum includes access to the lighthouse, so you get to explore a lot for one price. Just a heads up, the lighthouse is located a short walk from the main museum building, so be prepared to stroll across the grounds. Overall, the Drum Point Lighthouse offers a wonderful blend of history, education, and scenic beauty that makes it an unforgettable part of the Calvert Marine Museum experience.

Established in 1845, the United States Naval Academy (USNA) is a renowned undergraduate school with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and math. Located in Annapolis, Maryland, the campus spans 338 acres at the confluence of the Severn River and Chesapeake Bay.
It was interesting to see our soon to be leaders in training and their environment. During the winter months, they still had some training exercises, but there had a lot more restrictions in place. There were classic military facility entrance protocols. Military, gov, and retired IDs were only accepted. Go Navy beat Army!!!

Visiting the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis was a truly inspiring experience. The campus is absolutely stunning—historic buildings, immaculate grounds, and views of the Severn River that are hard to beat. Walking through the Yard, you get a real sense of tradition, honor, and service. The guided tour was excellent and gave great insight into the life of a midshipman, the Academy’s history, and its role in shaping Naval leaders. Highlights for me included the breathtaking chapel, the crypt of John Paul Jones, and the Naval Academy Museum with its incredible ship models and artifacts. I left with a deep appreciation for the commitment these young men and women make to serve our country. Annapolis itself is a great place to explore before or after your visit. Whether you're into history, military service, or just want to be inspired, the U.S. Naval Academy is absolutely worth your time.

If you’re visiting downtown Annapolis and can spare some time, be sure to walk into the United States Naval Academy! (You can walk on with just a driver’s license. To drive on requires military or DoD ID.) It is beautiful to just walk most of it outside, but if you can - be sure to visit Bancroft Hall, the Chapel interior & John Paul Jones crypt, and the fantastic museum as well (just a stone’s throw from the chapel.) We frequent the USNA and never tire of it! Captains Row is just idyllic. Amazing!

Tour many of the top of the line sports facilities. Looking to get sponsored by them for high school/ college. Need a valid id for entry. Veteran’s affairs id will not work for entry. We had the opportunity/honor to visit the United States Naval Academy in JUL_FY2024 and it was an amazing experience, a great opportunity to learn more about USA history and legacy. We did a plant tour and for sure it's a remarkable site. Definitely, it's a place that deserves my respect. It was a privilege.

The Naval Academy is definitely a place to visit if you’re in the Annapolis area. There are walking tours and bus tours but we decided to follow the map and do it on our on. The campus is beautiful and well kept. All the buildings are magnificent. The Academy Chapel is a must see while you’re there, simply gorgeous and then you can go underneath part of the chapel to visit John Paul Jones crypt which is breathtaking, honoring one of our true Naval heroes! The day we went was perfect, very little clouds and just a nice cool afternoon, not too warm. We visited June the 11th 2024. We even got to see the Navy football team practicing. You’ve got to go and walk the places where lots of Naval heroes got their beginning.

Nestled in an 18th-century building, the Historic Annapolis Museum Store is a charming gift shop that offers a delightful selection of vintage-inspired items and nautical treasures. This store is part of the Historic Annapolis Museum, which showcases the rich history of this vibrant town, once the capital of Maryland. Visitors can explore fascinating exhibits, including a detailed scale model from 1819 and various artifacts that tell stories from different eras.
The bottom half of the museum houses the gift shop, which had a great selection of items to buy. Museum was on the 2nd and 3rd floors and set up with several displays aided by boards, audio recordings, and even video recordings. The exhibit I went to was called "Freedom Bound: Runaways of the Chesapeake." It was focused on slaves, indentured servants, and captive servants and shared an insight into a few stories from each. Wish they sold the video in the gift shop and I've been unsuccessful finding it anywhere else including Amazon. Also yes about the buildings in the area that have been restored. The museum is one of these restored buildings. Highly recommend.

Typical as museum stores go - you'd find your usual gift items and souvenirs sold at generally reasonable prices. The museum itself is closed to the public for a renovation (not sure how much longer). Staff on duty was cheerful and helpful all the way. Finding parking was challenging.
G A — Google review
It's a very cozy place with a lot of little trinkets to satisfy your nostalgic shopping bone. The "museum" name can be somewhat misleading as only a small portion of the building is dedicated to the history of Annapolis. Nonetheless, it is a fun spot to stop by when you're downtown.

Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine is a significant site that played a pivotal role in the War of 1812, inspiring the writing of 'The Star-Spangled Banner,' the U.S. national anthem. Visitors to Baltimore can immerse themselves in its rich history by exploring this iconic fort, along with other historical landmarks like Inner Harbor and Federal Hill Park. Additionally, they can savor freshly caught blue crabs seasoned with Old Bay seasoning for an authentic Baltimore experience.
This historic gem is NOT to be missed. When you arrive, wait for the short movie and be sure to watch. When the window coverings rise, the American flag appears and it is stunning. What a 10/10 presentation! The staff were very kind and helpful. For Patriotism, this is the place to indeed visit!

Walking through the Fort transports you back in time and gives you an overwhelming feeling of national pride. Not to mention, the film documentary at the end of your visit has a truly special surprise at the ending you don’t expect! Do yourself a favor if you’re in Baltimore and go visit Fort McHenry.

Short but informative video to start the tour. Rangers are very knowledgeable about the fort's history. I arrived in time for the flag changing ceremony, which they allow guests to help participate in. Lovely views of the harbor from the fort or walking trails.

SO MUCH FUN! I went for a school field trip, and it did not disappoint. We walked the whole thing, and I loved the preservation of old rooms. My favorite was the one execution cell. The place has high educational value, but it's also a good exercise and it's very interesting. I would love to go again with my family. It was so pretty.

Our family of four had a great visit. We purchased tickets for the shrine, kids were free. Visitor Center has interactive exhibits and 20 min video thats worth staying until the end. Decent gift shop, no food or cafe to speak of. The grounds, views, restorations, rangers, history, and setting are all amazing.
Jesse L — Google review
Had an awesome experience learning about Fort McHenry and the buildup to the battle that inspired the Star Spangled Banner. Started off in the visitor center and watch the film and look at all the information panels. Going outside gives you amazing views of the bay, and exploring the fort is an awesome experience. Each building has information about the fort and it's history. I would absolutely come back and would recommend others do the same.
Andrew C — Google review
The NPS Rangers' lack of enthusiasm at this site prevents us from giving it a 5th star. You have to pay extra to walk out to the fort and take a self-guided tour. During our visit, the temperature was extremely high at around 98°F, which may explain the absence of reenactments or ranger-led tours; however, the rangers were still present at the site. The fort's rangers were just standing in the shade, maybe due to the heat. They could have been giving some kind of presentation or talk. We did not get a discount due to the heat, but the experience of being at the historical location was well worth the 4 stars.

The National Aquarium is a must-visit landmark featuring captivating marine-life exhibits, an exciting dolphin show, and a thrilling shark tank. Visitors can also explore a walk-through rainforest for an immersive experience. Located near the World Trade Center, visitors are required to follow specific traffic patterns for safe entry and exit. Health measures such as wearing face coverings and completing screening questionnaires are in place. Additionally, one-way traffic flow and social distancing measures are enforced throughout the building.
Our family had a great time at the National Aquarium. There was a lot to do and see. They kept people moving in one direction which made it easy to navigate so you can see everything. The food was good, but it was a little dirty. The animals seemed like they were treated well and the areas were clean. The staff was very friendly and told us about different exhibits and what to look for. I would definitely recommend going here and look forward to our next trip.

We went for the first time and we choose labor day to go. It actually wasn't that bad. We had no wait to get in. But some of the exhibits had a crowd before you could get to see it decently. We did not do any of the experiences or were we able to see the dolphins though we did try. They were being feed when we were there and we didn't wait long enough to see them. If you have anyone in your group that has mobility issues and needs to use elevators they do have them and they can fit wheelchairs plus a person or two. They are not near where the other entrance to the floor is for those that do not have mobility problems. I say this for those who have parties of mixed capabilities. There is one area that those who cannot do stairs can access and that is the birds area. There is a way for wheelchairs to go through the area but there is 2 platforms that you can't get to. The aquarium was nice and the employees we came across were all friendly. The are some rather large attractions and lots of smaller ones just like any other aquarium or zoo. They have an area with horseshoe crabs and jellyfish that you can touch the animals. We were hoping that there was an area you can feed manta rays of something like it but they did not. We got to see how they clean some of the tanks and some of the divers that we found out that all the divers are volunteers. The guy made a joke saying that they work for free bottled air. Some of the tanks look difficult to clean so I don't envy them. They some frogs and birds and some other animals. I was not expecting to see any other animals but I thought it was cool. There are some really good views of the harbor as well. They have a spot that you can sit and rest while looking at the harbor. All in all we will probably go back and definitely recommend.
Christopher P — Google review
It was nice... I have been to aquariums with more variety... this one seems almost local species. A few empty habitats... the Jellyfish invasion is not impressive if you have seen them in other aquariums... some tanks looked like they were sick... dolphin shows are no more but you can sit and watch them... they mostly hung out in the back though, until the helpers came out to feed. That was cool. I agree with the stopping the shows and loved seeing them play. The rainforest was okay too... a couple of birds here an there... mostly just plant life with a cool water fall. Escalator was broke on one floor of the 4 floor exhibit. I think they have an elevator, they were not to informative about it though. We never looked into the Australian terrarium... chose to leave and do other things.

The design of this aquarium is very unique. I have visited many aquariums across the country. Like the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, the Long Beach Aquarium in CA, and the Mall of America’s Aquarium. We went on a Sunday so it was super busy but getting our tickets online was a smart move. The layout of this aquarium is pretty unique and it can be actually quite confusing. Thankfully we had a friend who has been to this one multiple times and knew his way around. I do like the open design to the main attraction and the escalators to next level. That was very unusual to see. There was one escalator that was out of service but they had the service door for the stair propped open and someone standing there to help guide. Also another interesting thing was the rotating doors. I have never seen them being used inside of a facility. It was kind of annoying as only one person could go through it at a time. The best thing was all the aquatic creatures that they have. Those were a joy to watch and we got to talk to a knowledgeable guide that was showing off a turtle skull. She was fun to talk with and knew her stuff about the animals in the aquarium. I would go back for sure.

The aquarium closes fairly early, so I didnt have quite enough time to get through the entire place. It was beautiful. It was well laid out. The dolphin training was a surprise to see, but it was so cool to see.

I love this aquarium, it takes about 2-3 hours to see everything without rushing. They have touch tanks that are fun for everyone and a lot of awesome exhibits. There are places to get food and drinks which is nice as well. Parking is decent and right in front of the aquarium. I normally go on the weekends and the crowds are not too bad.

The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum is a fascinating destination that delves into the history of aviation and space exploration. The museum showcases an array of vehicles and artifacts, including the original Wright 1903 Flyer, the 'Spirit of St. Louis,' and the Apollo 11 command module.
The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum is an absolute must-visit in DC and it is free. The exhibits are incredible and there’s something for everyone, whether you’re into aviation history, space exploration, or just want to see real rockets, moon landers, and fighter jets up close. I loved how interactive and well-organized everything was. You can walk through the history of flight, see the Wright brothers’ early work, touch a piece of the moon, and check out modern NASA missions all in one place. The curation is top-notch and every display is thoughtfully done. Check out the IMAX theater inside. They play some really great 3D movies that are worth the experience, especially if you’re into space documentaries or science films. It adds a whole new layer to your visit. It can get a little crowded, especially on weekends, but totally worth it. Staff is friendly and the space is big enough to move around easily. Easily one of the highlights of my DC trip. Would go back to catch more shows and explore the rest.

Wow! What an amazing museum!!! We’ve visited it a few times over the years. Our whole family has always enjoyed it at all ages, little kids, teenagers, and adults alike. There’s hands-on activities for younger kids, and informative displays for adults. We watched a film display and the toddlers next to us found it just as engaging as we did. This museum really is truly great for all ages, and we have found it fascinating after each new visit. We spent 3 hours here, and didn’t even see every display. There’s so much to do and to look at. The staff were so friendly and well-informed. We really enjoyed chatting with them. I’m so happy that we were able to visit. My one piece of advice is to book the free timed-entry tickets as far in advance as possible so that you get the chance to enjoy this amazing experience!

The National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC is one of the most inspiring and fascinating places I have ever visited. From the moment you step inside you can feel the excitement of human achievement and discovery. The museum captures the full story of flight and space exploration in a way that is both educational and deeply moving. Every exhibit is designed with care and attention to detail making it easy to understand how far we have come in just a little over a century of aviation. One of the most impressive parts of the museum is the collection of historic aircraft and spacecraft. Seeing the Wright brothers’ first flyer up close is an unforgettable experience. The Apollo 11 command module is another highlight that truly makes you appreciate the courage and vision of the astronauts who first set foot on the Moon. The exhibits on modern space missions and the future of exploration are equally inspiring and show how innovation continues to push the boundaries of what is possible. The museum is beautifully organized and free to enter which makes it accessible to everyone. The staff are friendly and always ready to answer questions. Whether you are a space enthusiast or simply curious about science and technology this museum will leave you feeling amazed and inspired. It is a place that celebrates human imagination and determination and it is absolutely worth visiting.

Great museum! If you love aviation you will love this place! They have many airplanes from 747s to DC-3s to a wright flyer. They even have an x wing hanging from the roof! Tons of cool information, including about space flight and space craft. Only complaint is that part of the museum was closed for construction, but it's understandable because they have to renovate it at some point. Get tickets online in advance! Would highly recommend this place!

The displays show how we’ve evolved from early humans to who we are today. It really makes you think about how far we’ve come as a species. The kids also had a great time exploring different sections of the museum. There are interactive exhibits and interesting facts everywhere you look, so it never feels boring. We spent hours walking around and still felt like there was more to discover. The Smithsonian Natural History Museum is a great place for families, students, and anyone curious about the world. It's educational, fun, and inspiring. We can't wait to go back again and see what new things we’ll learn next time!

This museum never disappoints! There’s something fascinating in every corner — from the massive dinosaur fossils to the sparkling gems and the incredible ocean exhibits. The Hope Diamond is a must-see, and the animal displays are so realistic and detailed. It’s perfect for both kids and adults, and you can easily spend a whole afternoon here. Best of all, admission is free! Truly one of the highlights of D.C.

Smithsonian Museum of Natural History — The Story Beneath Our Feet After honoring the fallen at Arlington and reaching for the stars at the Air and Space Museum, the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History brought me back to Earth — literally. It’s humbling to stand in a place that tells the story of everything that came before us. From the glint of ancient gems to the quiet stare of creatures long extinct, every exhibit whispers, You’re part of something much older, much greater, than yourself. As a Marine, I’ve spent years learning about survival, discipline, and adaptation — but this museum reminded me that nature wrote those lessons first. The fossils, the meteorites, the skeletal giants towering overhead… all proof that time itself is the ultimate drill instructor. It shapes, tests, and transforms everything it touches. Walking through the Hall of Human Origins, I found myself reflecting on how far we’ve come — and how fragile our place still is. There’s a deep respect in realizing that we’re not the masters of this planet; we’re its current students. For anyone visiting Washington, D.C., this museum isn’t just about science — it’s about perspective. It’s a sacred reminder that every breath we take is borrowed from something far older, and far wiser, than we are. But, never forget, Not all is as it seems 😉

The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History is an extraordinary museum that captivates you from the moment you walk in. Every exhibit is thoughtfully curated — from dinosaurs and ocean life to minerals and rare artifacts. It’s engaging for both adults and children, with modern, interactive displays and spacious galleries. Wonderfully organized and absolutely fascinating. A must-visit in Washington, D.C.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC is a significant institution dedicated to preserving the memory of the Holocaust through permanent and traveling exhibits as well as educational programs. Situated near the Smithsonian museums, it documents, studies, and interprets the history of the Holocaust with a dual purpose: memorializing the victims and helping confront hatred to prevent genocide.
One of the best museum visits in DC. The exhibits are well curated and informative, guiding you through one of the darkest chapters in our human history and causing you to reflect on the past and present and how the world at times fails to remember history (and repeats it). Recommend reserving tickets in advance ($1 service fee). It is timed entry ticket. Took ~3 hours to tour the museum. Lots of reading, artifacts to view and a couple of short videos. Plenty of sitting areas throughout the building along with restrooms on every floor.

Beautiful experience. I added 4 ☆ because they allow too many people into the museum at once. If you want to read you'll have to plan at least 3 hours ans be extremely patient with the crowds. There were many group tours with young adults yelling and running but some of those things are hard to control. Thank you for a beautiful experience and museum.

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Review The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. is one of the most powerful and emotionally moving institutions in the country. Visiting it is not a casual sightseeing experience—it’s an encounter with the depths of human history, morality, and conscience. From the moment you enter, the design of the museum draws you into the gravity of its subject: dim lighting, cold steel, and a quiet that commands respect. The architecture itself becomes part of the storytelling, guiding visitors through a journey that is both historical and deeply personal. The permanent exhibition presents the Holocaust with meticulous care and authenticity. Original artifacts—train cars, victims’ belongings, photographs, and Nazi propaganda—are displayed alongside survivor testimonies and documentary footage. Each floor unfolds chronologically, from the rise of the Nazi regime to the liberation of the camps, allowing visitors to grasp how ordinary prejudice evolved into genocide. What stands out most is the museum’s balance between education and reflection. It never sensationalizes tragedy; instead, it urges visitors to think critically about moral choices, human rights, and the consequences of indifference. The Hall of Remembrance at the end provides a quiet space to mourn and reflect. Overall, the Holocaust Museum is not just a museum—it’s a moral experience, a place that reminds every visitor of the responsibility to remember, and to never let such atrocities happen again.

It's a place you might want to visit to understand how still WAR is invading out kindness, being deserted from your own house and being separated from your own family. How much hardship those traumatized souls had to go through and how sad they are! those who survived but feeling so helpless that we're not being able to control our problems and still ended up getting into the same WAR.

An incredible experience, the exhibits were thoughtfully planned giving a face to all who was effected. There were several school groups there but you could hear a pin drop as everyone was respectfully going through.

OMG!! This museum blew me away. Whomever curated this beautiful museum deserves an 👏🏾! From the interactive exhibits to being told that there were some persons working at the museum that survived the holocaust. Blown away!! Such an emotional experience.

I fell on my knees before coming inside, thought there would be a place to rest, but only a few places. There were some places to watch video where there were seats and at the end. Good place for history lovers that can stand for an hour. I'm glad I came, but it isn't a place for people with mobility issues.

Visited the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. today, and wow what a powerful, emotional experience. 💔 You will be moved bring tissues. The exhibits are heartbreaking yet so important. 🕯️ They use timed-entry tickets, which made it easy to get in with no big crowds, and it’s very simple to get to. If you’re in D.C., this is a must. The Korean War Veterans Memorial, situated on the National Mall, is a remarkable tribute to the brave individuals who served and sacrificed during the Korean War. The memorial features 19 striking stainless steel statues of soldiers from various branches of the armed forces, symbolizing the diverse group of Americans who fought in the war. These lifelike statues are set against a granite wall adorned with images of the war and inscribed with the powerful words 'Freedom Is Not Free.'
Beautiful, small, and emotional memorial for anyone to see. Although the walk from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial is quite long, there are many memorials to see along the way including the Korean memorial. The slow cascading waterfall near the wall of fallen soldiers just makes all the more peaceful, and it was quite quiet when I went. It was nice to see a memorial that was well kept and well respected.

We walked to see if the family member of a friend was listed on the wall and it was. What a moving experience. The place is a solemn recognition that freedom is not free. The memorial has a wall with the names of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. There is a water feature and statues of soldiers.

This is a somber memorial to walk around. Dedicated in 1995, it honors the sacrifices of American, Korean, and United Nations forces during the Korean War (1950-1953). A great reminder of the forgotten war. My boys and I enjoyed it.

The Korean War Veterans Memorial is a well‑designed site on the National Mall that honors those who served. The statues and wall of names create a reflective atmosphere, and its location makes it easy to visit alongside nearby landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial and the Reflecting Pool.

Very beautiful, eye-opening memorial. The sculptures are so detailed and I enjoyed my visit. It’s really sad seeing all the names of the heroic soldiers that died in battle for our country, but it makes me proud to see how honored our veterans are!

The Korean War Veteran's Memorial is solemn and poignant. The ghostly figures of soldiers almost seem hauntingly alive. All of the countries that participated from the United Nations are represented here, including Canada. A very fitting tribute and highly appreciated. I highly recommend visiting the next time you're in Washington.

The Korean War Veterans Memorial is poignant and moving. The statues seem to come alive, telling a story of service and sacrifice. A fitting tribute to the brave men and women who served in the 'Forgotten War'.

I am a little disappointed about the care of this haunting Memorial. The artistry and care that went into designing and building the Memorial that honors thousands of US and South Korea Soldiers who fought and died in this war is being neglected. I would expect more care would go into maintaining this Memorial.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a solemn tribute to the men and women who served in the Vietnam War. It consists of three parts: the Three Soldiers statue, the Vietnam Women's Memorial, and the iconic Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. The wall, made of black granite, bears over 58,000 names of soldiers who either died or went missing during the war. Despite initial controversy over its design, it has become a place for healing and remembrance.
This beautiful and hunting reminder of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the face of evil. This monument is just a small thank you to all of the brave men, and women never came back home. I highly recommend visiting and paying a little respect.
Jason R — Google review
It's interesting to read that this memorial was designed after a "healing wound." I think the architect did a good job at bringing that vision to reality. After taking in the Lincoln Memorial, we headed back east and came upon the site which is just off the north side of the Pool. The arrow-shaped memorial wall of smooth, dark, reflective gabbro rock starts at ground level then slopes ever so gently into the earth until its midpoint, where it then gradually rises back up to ground level, with a ton of names engraved along the way. A memorial directory is posted nearby to aide in finding names. Look for a small podium near the entrances/exits. Simple, striking, and beautiful.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. is one of the most visited and moving monuments in the United States, honoring those who served in the Vietnam War. It is located at National Mall, near the Lincoln Memorial, dedicated in November 13, 1982. It was designed by Maya Lin, a 21-year-old architecture student at Yale, it was controversy at the beginning, but became iconic. It honors members of the U.S. armed forces who fought in the Vietnam War, those who died in service, and those missing in action (MIA). The two black granite walls, each 246 feet 9 inches long, set in a V-shape, engraved with the names of over 58,000 servicemen and women who died or went missing. The Three Servicemen Statue – A bronze statue by Frederick Hart depicting three soldiers, added in 1984 to complement the Wall. The Vietnam Women’s Memorial – Dedicated in 1993, honoring women (many nurses) who served. The Wall’s shape points toward the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument, linking it to the nation’s history. It's an open air Memorial, you can visit any time.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a powerful and thoughtfully designed site in Washington, D.C. It is conveniently connected to other major sights on the National Mall and located very close to the Lincoln Memorial, making it easy to include in a day of exploring.

I found this memorial to be really cool on the evening that I went because they were doing an orange light awareness activity with lots of candles. I also really enjoy how you can see your image reflected in this memorial. If you are by the Lincoln memorial feel free to stop by this one as well!

There was a quiet reverence while walking through this area, it was deeply appreciated. I was there to find a name for my friend; her husband passed in Viet Nam. The volunteers were helpful and offered historical documentation about the Wall.

Years ago I watched a movie called In Country about a young girl searching for information about her father, who was killed in the Vietnam War. I recall the movie as being average at best, but in the final scene, they film real people at the Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC. It was so moving and difficult to watch I had tears flowing and could not stop. I could also hear several other people in the audience with the same reaction and when the show ended, I just stayed seated for the longest time and thankfully, my wife quietly sat there with me. Just to be clear, I’m too young to have fought in Vietnam but for some reason, it’s something that has been a part of my life since I was a kid. And so when I finally got to visit this amazing place after all these years, I took plenty of time to take it all in. This is a beautiful monument and it’s definitely worth seeing but at the same time, it was so jarring to see how amazing the monument to the Korean War and WWII were. Maybe take the time and visit all three. Michael Delehanty Compass Real Estate

The Lincoln Memorial, a tribute to Abraham Lincoln, was designed by architect Henry Bacon after the Parthenon in Greece. The 36 exterior columns represent the states in the Union at the time of Lincoln's death, with their names inscribed above them. Inside, a towering statue of Lincoln is flanked by chambers honoring his famous speeches. Located on the west side of the Tidal Basin, it stands opposite the Jefferson and Roosevelt Memorials.
The Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. is one of the most inspiring and memorable landmarks I have ever visited. The moment you arrive, the scale and presence of the monument immediately capture your attention. Abraham Lincoln’s massive seated statue feels larger than life, not just in size but also in meaning. It is a place that reminds you of the struggles and triumphs that shaped America and the vision of one of its greatest leaders. The memorial’s architecture is stunning, with tall white marble columns surrounding the statue. On the walls, you can find inscriptions of Lincoln’s most famous speeches, including the Gettysburg Address and the Second Inaugural Address. Reading these words while standing in front of the monument is a powerful experience, filled with history, reflection, and inspiration. From the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, the view is simply breathtaking. The Reflecting Pool stretches out gracefully toward the Washington Monument, creating one of the most iconic and photographed scenes in the entire city. Visiting during sunrise or sunset adds a magical glow to the experience and makes it even more unforgettable. What stood out most to me was the peaceful and respectful atmosphere. Visitors from all over the world gather here, and yet there is a shared sense of quiet admiration. It is a place to pause, reflect, and appreciate the values of freedom, unity, and equality that Lincoln dedicated his life to. A must-visit in Washington, D.C., the Lincoln Memorial truly leaves a lasting impression.

Obviously a must see if you're visiting DC! I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty crowded but people were being very respectful and waiting for others to finish to take their pictures. When you get to the top you can see all the way down the National Mall which is great. Unfortunately the bookstore was closed due to the government shutdown, but still fun to check out!

A great place to honor our former president. You will never understand how big it is until to get to the bottom. The best time to visit is close to sunset when the sky is pretty and you can see the full reflection of the Washington monument with amazing colors in the sky. The addition of the ramp although blocks the view from the front, is a good addition for those with strollers.
Ajimon T — Google review
The Lincoln Memorial is stunning especially at sunset. I didn’t realize how close all the monuments were to each other until I visited; everything is just a short, scenic walk away. As I made my way from the Thomas Jefferson or Washington Memorial to the Lincoln, I saw one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever experienced. The way the light hit the reflecting pool and the memorial itself was just perfect peaceful, powerful, and unforgettable.

Lincoln Memorial The Lincoln Memorial is one of the most awe-inspiring landmarks in Washington, D.C., and a place that never fails to leave a deep impression no matter how many times you visit. Standing at the base of the monument and looking up at the towering statue of President Abraham Lincoln, you can truly feel the weight of history and the ideals he represented — unity, equality, and freedom. The craftsmanship is remarkable; the marble gleams beautifully in the sunlight during the day and takes on a serene glow under the lights at night. The entire site is impeccably maintained, and the setting along the Reflecting Pool makes it even more breathtaking. Watching the Washington Monument’s reflection shimmer in the water, especially at sunset, is a sight that captures the very spirit of America. The memorial’s inscriptions — the Gettysburg Address and Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address — are powerful reminders of the enduring importance of words in shaping a nation’s conscience. The atmosphere is peaceful yet profoundly moving. Tourists, students, and locals all stand together in quiet respect, taking in both the grandeur and the solemnity. Visiting the Lincoln Memorial is not just sightseeing — it’s an experience of reflection, gratitude, and inspiration that every visitor to D.C. should have at least once.

What a wonderful experience it was to have visited this truly historical place and to learn about one of the greatest presidents of our time. Reading and Gettysburg address was like stepping back in time and in my opinion is the best speech every written. Manassas National Battlefield Park spans 5,000 acres and commemorates the First and Second Battles of Manassas during the Civil War. The Henry Hill Visitor Center features a museum displaying uniforms, weapons, and other artifacts from the era. Visitors can watch an orientation film about the battles or join guided tours led by Park Rangers. The park is known for its historic significance as it was the site of two crucial American Civil War battles in the 18th century.
Beautiful open area with lots of history. Be sure to bring plenty of water if you plan on walking the entire battlefield area. No operational water fountains on site. There is a horse train the runs on the southern side of the field. The trail goes for miles.

We were in the area and wanted to make a quick visit to walk through the battlefield park. The park is very well maintained and stretches out very far. There are several areas with signage and historical information to read about the battlefield. If you’re visiting during the summer months, be sure to bring mosquito spray with you.

What a great place to get exercise, immerse yourself in history, and enjoy nature. There are 2 major trails ranging from 5-6 miles. You can combine them for an entire day walk/hike. They are easy to moderate. There are a few side loops to be able to see more historical structures. There are markers along the way to learn about the significance of each area. It's a history lesson combined with physical activity! I have hiked nearly every inch of this park over the years. This weekend I hiked the First Manassas Trail and the Old Stone Bridge Loop.

We came here on a Saturday afternoon, and no ticket is required. The visitor center has a small museum with very nice display of how the battle happened and what happened. It’s meaningful and also beautiful. Would recommend to visit if you happen to be in a nearby area.

A truly moving and educational 5-star experience! The Manassas National Battlefield Park is a phenomenal place to spend the day, and it felt like we were walking right through history. The staff is welcoming and informative, and the visitor center provides an excellent foundation. The highlight of the trip, however, was definitely the guided tour. The park rangers are extremely knowledgeable and bring the area's rich history to life, pointing out iconic spots like the Stone House, the striking statue of "Stonewall" Jackson, and the poignant plaques marking where officers like Brigadier General Bartow fell. Walking past the rows of cannons and along the classic split-rail fences with the wild views was breathtaking. The park has a peaceful atmosphere, but you can feel the incredible history that happened right under your feet. The interpretive signs, like the one about "The Marines Of '61," are also incredibly well-done. Download the NPS app if you want to explore with a self-guided tour—it's a great resource!

Visited during government shutdown. Visitors center and buildings were shuttered. Driving tour of the first battle included 4.5 miles of walking. Park isn't well-maintained and visitors litter / walk past litter. We picked up all we could (but left the dog poop packages). Tragic disregard for history.
