Park
Nature & Parks
Eisenhower Park is a vast 320-acre natural area located in the northern part of Bexar County. It offers numerous hiking and jogging trails, as well as picnic and BBQ spots for visitors to enjoy. The park is an important part of the efforts to preserve and protect the Trinity Aquifer, playing a role in preventing pollution from entering critical water supplies in the county.
Very beautiful and calming. There are signs and directions to keep people from getting lost which was very helpful. They have a trail guide labeling hardest to easiest. There were a couple of joggers but not too crowded. You can have your dog there as long as they’re leashed. I believe there is a biking trail.
Alisia — Google review
This place is great! I was looking for a place to do a quick hike, and was pleasantly surprised that Eisenhower Park offers both incredibly accessible trails AND more technical trails. Don't misunderstand me, this is definitely not a hike in the mountains, it's much easier than that. However! This park is beautiful, well maintained, technically challenging (if you want that), and accessible! It's amazing that the city of San Antonio prioritizes conservation while allowing the public to appreciate the natural scenery around the city.
David — Google review
This was a great park- I ended up coming back twice before leaving the area. It’s in the more north end of SA & make sure you make the turn before you accidentally head for the military base 😅. The park is free to enter with plenty of free parking. The weekend gets busier but I was still able to park. Weekdays there’s barely anyone there. The bathrooms that are permanent were decent but the portable ones were disgusting. No toilet paper and crap smeared all over. I don’t know who in their right mind decided to smear their feces around but hey not all choices are smart ones. Anyways. There are a multitude of trails in this park to access. Some are a mix of dirt and paved, some are just paved and wheelchair accessible or some are just dirt. I did a mix of both each time. I did the larger loops to explore at length. There is a surprising bit of uphill climb in some areas and it can be a good challenging if that’s what you’re looking for. Some of the dirt trails have lots of rocky spots and slight climbs required. Regardless- proper footwear with ankle support is an absolute must. Also be weary of bugs and wildlife. I saw a scorpion on the paved path. I also saw plenty of birds. Some lizards. No snakes though they were surely around. There is water fountains at the entrance and picnic areas. Bring water- you’ll need it. There’s quite a bit of shade coverage depending on the trails you take but wearing sunblock and bringing a hat won’t ever hurt you in the chances you take a path with more sun exposure. All in all I loved it here and would return if I was a local. For some good challenging hikes that don’t leave you gassed or leisurely walks- this park has it all. Just enough outside of the city to feel like you’re out in nature. It also offers access to the greenway bike trail.
Vikki P — Google review
Beautiful natural place to come for a walk on the trails. Clean and safe. Reaching the Tower felt so empowering. Great place to bring the entire family and pets. Different levels of difficulty so perfect to adjust to what your ability is! Wheelchair accessible a plus. Bring a big water jug, you’ll need it. Shady Creek Natural Trail is difficult but gives you an amazing workout!
Zanel P — Google review
Great hiking with elevation and terrain changes. Well marked intersections and trailheads. Well maintained. Ample parking.
Regina M — Google review
Excellent walking and biking trails full of lush greenery and different levels of trails. The highlight is climbing the observatory to see all of San Antonio and then some... definitely don't miss out on visiting this place. Also there is a trail that you can take straight to The Rim area, to get a bite to eat and shop.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Theme park
Water & Amusement Parks
Six Flags Fiesta Texas is a part of a popular amusement park chain and offers an array of attractions for visitors. The park is situated within 100-foot-tall quarry walls and showcases five themed sectors that highlight the diverse culture of Texas. It features nine thrilling roller coasters, including the largest steel coaster in Texas, Superman: Krypton Coaster, and the Goliath, a suspended looping coaster reaching speeds of 50 mph.
Six Flags San Antonio was an unforgettable experience! I had such a great time — the rides were thrilling, the atmosphere electric, and the Halloween vibes made everything even more special. The decorations, music, and costumed performers really brought the park to life. It’s the perfect mix of fun and excitement, and I loved how unique the whole experience felt. Definitely a must-visit if you’re ever in San Antonio!
Imad A — Google review
Went during fright fest 2025 had a great time. They replaced the restraints on wonder woman which were an improvement. The new restraints dont dig into your shoulders or cause discomfort. The theming of the coasters has been improving recently and the park was really clean especially considering it was a weekend. Would recommend getting there early if you want to get rides on a specific coaster. The haunted attractions were also well done. I would recommend going with a day pass if you don't plan on visiting more than twice a month. They also offer military discounts for active duty and veterans on their day passes. Current pricing on their website for a day pass is 50.33 usd for slower days i.e weekday. Pricing goes up from there if you are a Rollercoaster enthusiast or fan of theme parks I would recommend getting their season pass since it will give you entry into the other parks in the chain.
Andrew G — Google review
I want to say it's not a bad theme park to visit;however, if you are frugal and like to be on the cheap side not a place to go. I've been here several times with relatives but I do not enjoy the long lines, crowds and parking. During this time there has been highway closures and construction that traffic is beyond laughable. It can be a 30 minute wait or even 45 min to leave the parking lot. I parked in the General area just to give you an idea of my headache. Personally, it would be better to fly in with a drone and get dropped off. Now, they have VIP tickets or so they promote but you still ha e to wait in line and I just see it as another gimmick. Anyways, I don't want to be a party pooper here but it's another place to visit if you've never been. Just make sure you Bring your wallet full of $$ or credit cards and good walking shoes. There is alot of walking involved and waiting in line so be prepared. Prices are way up high but just remeber where you are.
Melomar — Google review
Good spot for the family. We are season pass holders so we get to see it throughout the year. Best time to go is for Halloween and Christmas. We try the various food options (they do mix things up) so it keeps us happy.
Jester — Google review
We went on Halloween night. It was actually fun. It was not too crazy crowded. Everyone was enjoying the atmosphere. I recommend to get a membership with some add on. You actually find yourself using all what was purchased in one night. Pretty much, planning to go to the holiday one as well.
Lynda G — Google review
We went last Sunday and had a great time. Very fun , I’m just going to add that they should have maximum supervision in the recreation machine because I saw a lot of young people, they still looked in adolescence, I don’t know how prepared and experts they are in machining these recreational machines but it causes me curiosity and fear, the last machine we wanted to get on was on the SkyScreamer flying chairs around 9:00 pm, after being about 20 minutes waiting in line, the young who were operating the machine said us that they got a technical issues, we got scared and went to the music show. The haunted house is really nice, the decoration, the details and the characters were fantastic, I really had a lot of fun, I have to congratulate the workers, they did a good job, the witches scared me a lot and the characters surprised me between scares and laughter, my favorite part of the park, I am delighted to see the park for the first time on Halloween 👻 🎃 season.
Jessica N — Google review
I went on a day it was 95 degrees and still found a way to enjoy myself. There's lots of fun to be had here and some record breaking rides too. It's important to stay hydrated if you're interested in the biggest and best rides as They're positioned at the farthest corners of the park. I could go without the random solicitation that happens no matter which route you choose to walk towards the back of the park - still 5 stars is a well earned rating by fiesta Texas.

Always exciting To visit here. We really enjoy it during Halloween. Weather Is good and the park does a great job at putting on scary vibes.

Shopping
La Cantera Mall is a popular shopping spot for affluent San Antonians. It has a wide range of upscale brand shops and restaurants, making it a great place to escape the heat or enjoy some delicious food while you shop. The mall also features a spectacular garden-like setting with plenty of greenery, water features and distinctive storefronts, making it an attractive destination for shoppers of all ages.
🌟 Definitely my new favorite place for shopping and lunch, dinner, brunch or coffee, creperie and bakery! It has all my favorite stores, my favorite restaurants and the entire mall has trees, fountains, waterfalls, making the time much more enjoyable than the regular malls! It is extremely safe and well maintained! Perfect for spending great hours with family and friends!!

I go here to walk around. It has definitely changed since 2020. It's so beautiful. All the water features and fountains. The stores are nice, lots of variety. If anyone has a chance to come to San Antonio this where the should visit. This really 2/4 places I like here in San Antonio. The restaurants are nice, like the food is great. I've been out here a few times now and haven't had one bad experience. The movie theater is awesome.

One of the best spots in San Antonio I really love it. I lived the design of the place with the trees, water features, and everything else. A great number of cafes, restaurants and shops. It will be one of my best spots😉

I love love LOVE shopping here! It’s so beautifully laid out. You can pretty much walk it all if you want to get those steps in on a nice day out! There’s so much to choose from when shopping & eating! I first came here with my family & they chose to come because of it being an open, outdoor shopping center. We love coming here and I love how clean and beautiful they keep it! Definitely shop around here & grab a bite to eat because you won’t regret it!

Absolutely love The Shops at La Cantera! It’s one of the most beautiful and well-maintained shopping centers in Texas. The open-air design, landscaping, and layout make it such an enjoyable place to walk around — especially on a nice day. There’s an amazing variety of stores, from luxury brands to everyday favorites, plus tons of great dining options for any mood. Parking is convenient, the atmosphere feels safe and upscale, and everything is always spotless. Whether you’re shopping, grabbing dinner, or just relaxing, La Cantera always delivers a five-star experience!

Cibolo Center for Conservation

Nature & Parks
Cibolo Center for Conservation, also known as Cibolo Nature Center, is an educational destination in Boerne that offers 6 miles of trails through diverse ecosystems. Visitors can explore prairies, walk along Cibolo Creek, and wander through oak and cypress groves. The center's 160-acre area provides opportunities to observe native flora and fauna while learning about the local species.
Very neat spot and sure to return. Highly recommend walking down by the river under the cypress trees. Very pretty!
Nicole B — Google review
The trails I walked were great. Lots of shade. Trails are great for a short walk or to extend your walk and walk a few different trails. Some are 1/3 of mile others are 1/2 a mile, but they cross each other, so you can customize your walk. Best part is no entrance fee. The actual center was closed since it was a holiday.
Erica O — Google review
This park in Cibolo is absolutely beautiful—especially during golden hour before sunset. It’s easy to see why so many photographers are drawn here. We loved the towering cypress trees and the intricate, twisted roots along the river’s edge. Everything here feels well cared for—from the clean restrooms to the clear signs that guide you easily back to your car. A truly lovely spot for a quiet walk or simply to enjoy nature.
Kimbo — Google review
It is beautiful place, we walked the Marsh trail easy and accessible for everyone with a nice boardwalk. Trails along the river are dirt roads but not too difficult. Beautiful view of the creek and trees, plenty of benches to sit down and enjoy the peaceful scenery. Each bench is different, it makes the walk interesting, and there are a couple of hidden stairs leading towards the creek. Dinosaur tracks are very interesting place to explore and located right by the parking lot. Picnic tables and clean bathrooms, visitor center and plenty of parking. Free and dog friendly.
Kaja S — Google review
I love the park, but I hate the expensive photography fees and the fact that they interrupt you during sessions (sometimes several times) to check for the permit which stops the flow of the session. I get in the groove and it's always annoying being taken out and precious time being taken from my clients who often only get 10min sessions to begin with. It's forcing me to look elsewhere even though this is my go to spot due to how close it is and how beautiful. I wish they would come up with a better way like badges for us or something and stopped taking time away from my clients who pay for every minute of my time.
Katrina S — Google review
I had the most beautiful time here. Extremely peaceful lots of places to meditate and explore. I make this drive 2-3 times a month it's absolutely worth it.
Ashley D — Google review
We had a wonderful time at the Cibolo Nature Center. The kids and I walked one of the trails, and there are several others to choose from. They also have picnic tables, a small store, and restrooms available.

San Antonio Aquarium

Aquarium
Zoos & Aquariums
The San Antonio Aquarium is a small yet interactive attraction where visitors can get up close and personal with a variety of marine life, mammals, and reptiles. From vibrant tropical fish to sloths and iguanas, there are plenty of creatures to observe and even touch. The aquarium also offers unique experiences such as meeting mermaids and snorkeling with stingrays.
We had such a great time at the San Antonio Aquarium! It’s a perfect spot for a family outing. The kids absolutely loved the hands-on experiences—being able to touch and interact with the stingrays, feed the birds, and even gently touch an octopus was unforgettable! There’s a nice variety of sea life and land animals, and the staff was super friendly and helpful, especially when it came to answering questions and guiding the animal encounters. Everything felt clean, well-kept, and family-friendly. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for an affordable, fun, and educational experience in San Antonio!
Jewelisa B — Google review
The price was a bit much as far as tokens to feed some animals. But my grands loved the stingray cove. Spent most of our time right there. And a worker was kind and gave us some food cups for the stingray. Of course, the grands were too keen on touching the cut up fish...lol Nice place and good for a visit. Groupon has some good coupons for the visit.
Rara — Google review
This place was great, especially for kids. It had lots of animals, an arcade and even a huge activity space for pool, ping pong, projector tv, and concessions. The animals throughout all were very well taken care of. 1 staff member in particular was very knowledgeable and kind. Her name is Monica and she answered all our questions and genuinely loved what she does and the animals. Some other staff we talked to weren’t knowledgeable and didn’t seem to have the time. Still an affordable place to learn about all sorts of animals and be very hands on with most of them.
Telimon 2 — Google review
This place is so much fun! We have brought a group of 40 teens to this place twice now. (Keep in mind these are well-behaved teens) They love seeing all the animals and getting to pet some of them! It's a neat place! And a lot bigger than you first think.
Holly W — Google review
This was a great family outing for us. Lots of interactive exhibits where you can feed and pet the animals. While there are lots of aquatic exhibits like octopus, rays, seahorses etc… there are just as many land exhibits like lemurs, numerous birds, kangaroos and more. There are feed stations all around. My 19 year old enjoyed it as much as my 8 year old.
Darrin J — Google review
Although this aquarium is on the smallish, darkish, and old side, it’s a great visit because kids and adults can interact (pet and feed) with several of the animals and fish. Although most kids (mine included) enjoy spending extra money in the game room, bounce house, and gift shop which are located on site, it’s the animal interaction which sets this place apart from other aquariums I’ve visited. We’ve visited the SA Aquarium at least 4 times, and the staff were always courteous and helpful. Although it’s labeled an aquarium, it’s more like a miniature zoo because there’s just as many land animals as aquatic ones. My kids were pleasantly surprised to see peacocks and alpacas in the outdoor area, and just about lost their minds when they got to see a capybara for the first time.
Israel G — Google review
We took my father in law for an outing to the SA Aquarium. It was the first time I had been there. Everything is wheelchair accessible. We use a wheelchair for him as he is 98 and somewhat mobile but not for long periods. I was impressed with all the different varieties of animal species they have.
John W — Google review
We went there with our grandson and he loved it! Always a great way to keep him entertained. Especially the bouncy houses! But unfortunately it seems that there were only three now. Two up front where the ball pit ised to be and is no longer there. And a smaller one inside where they all were before. Apparently pickle ball is taking over and I believe a pool table. Along with extremely loud music. Which also is throughout the aquarium in most parts. You Can't hear each other talk. You have to almost scream in someone's ear. Basically sounds like a bar/club. I would think for a place like this, especially when there are adults and kids that have hearing impairments that they would know this isn't a good idea. Not only is it of course annoying, it causes discomfort and for many turn to painful headaches. I really hope they can consider on how loud they decide to have it.

The park serves as a trailhead for the scenic Cibolo Trail, which extends beyond the park and winds its way around Boerne following the Cibolo Creek to Main Plaza Park.
Great place to walk off your lunch or dinner. Mellow walk, friendly people, lovely scenery, we really enjoyed our walk. We saw lots of dog walkers, ducks, geese and squirrels.
Amanda M — Google review
Nice park along the river. Needs a small play area for kids south of the bridge. Loved the ducks, turtles, and occasional surprise like the huge catapillar in photos. 3 snakes in between rocks and next to sidewalk did scare the ladies. They were jyst on the north side of the bridge and possibly water moccasins. I can see this place being magical with lights all over during the holidays.

I loved this park so much!!! The scenery was so beautiful, the Egyptian geese and ducks and turtles were so fun to look at. It is very clean and serene and felt like a dream! The people of Boerne are lucky to have this amazing park.

Never gets dull coming here with the family. The ducks, turtles and other animals who call the river their home are always visible and line the banks or shallow water. Relaxing morning or afternoon strolls and a good place to mentally reset! Adjacent restaurants and parking are readily available.

I have lived here over 30 years and this river has been an amazing respite and source of peace in me, my wife and my kid’s lives. It has been completely upgraded and more paths have been added and it makes living in a small town such a joy. Good job @city of Boerne.

Restaurant
The Dienger Trading Co. is a charming vintage bistro housed in a 19th-century building, featuring a quirky atmosphere and serving breakfast, sandwiches, beer, and wine. The cafe occupies the ground floor of the historic building and offers a variety of country specialties such as chicken-fried steak Benedict and classic pancakes. Additionally, they have a full bakery with an array of pastries and muffins sourced from local vendors.
My son-in-law and daughter took me to The Dienger Trading Co. in Boerne, Texas and we had great meals there! The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the selection of dishes that were offered was unique, and some of the selections were uniquely "Texan." All of the food was either cooked or baked to perfection, and I and my family thoroughly enjoyed our meals! The owner was present, and he went from table-to-table warmly greeting his guests and fellow diners ensuring that we all had a wonderful dining experience at his restaurant. I was particularly impressed by the genuinely courteous Texan hospitality that he displayed, and felt at ease as if I was dining at home among friends. Thank you to all of the kitchen and wait staff, and the owner for giving us all a truly memorable dining experience. We'll definitely return for more!

Great restaurant with delicious breakfast food. Big portions. Good coffee and cappucino. Good service. The place itself is well designed with large windows and an older style decor that gives it a vintage vibe. There’s a large boutique store connected to the restaurant which my wife absolutely loved. They sell women’s clothes, baby clothes, stationary, candles, cups, kitchen items, and more. Good selection of quality items you won’t find in the big chain dept stores, and everything we saw was fairly priced. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Boerne.
Mike — Google review
I will start with the positives. Atmosphere with the history is just awesome. The little shop is too cute with a lot of Boutique stuff. All the kids clothes are adorable and the adult clothes are sophisticated. The food was amazing however the service could have used a little extra touch. I sat there with no water two times while the server walked by me. I don't feel like I should tip a server for only taking my order. He did check on me once after I got my food but somebody else delivered it. I did however tip him $2 because I didn't want to be completely rude, but I don't think he deserved it and I hope it went to the hostess who did more for me and the food deliverer and cook.
Crystal J — Google review
Super cute restaurant and boutique. Our server Brooke was great, no food was forgotten and it came out really fast considering all the people. We got vanilla custard French toast which was 10/10 and so was the biscuit. For something savory I would recommend the eggs Benedict. The restaurant is so pretty and all the staff is really nice. The owner is always here talking to the customers which is super cute. We love it here!
Meghan S — Google review
If you're visiting Boerne, you have to eat breakfast here! Their food was delicious. Our server was attentive. The overall experience was perfect. Be sure to check out their bakery!
Dylan M — Google review
I regret not taking a picture of my food! The Avacado toast was amazing. Their biscuit and gravy are great, especially due to their house brand sausage. The breakfast potatoes were the best I have ever had. Mimosas were well priced and delicious. All in all, for a whole bottle and 2 people to eat some amazing food, I feel the 64 dollar price tag was pretty amazing. The staff all around were pleasant, happy, and helpful. The owner is a good man. He opens his place to host a veteran breakfast meeting and offers a military discount. The shop is nice and offers a diverse selection. Mostly its for women and children, but they do have some literature, kitchen items and some cool toys. All very uniqe from local artist.
Donald S — Google review
Atmosphere was nice, coffee was good and adult food was good. Service was slow even though we got there at 8:40 on a Sunday with no line. Biggest reason for low stars is kids meal. The kids food is a literal joke. A spoonful of eggs and one slice of bacon for $12? The plate was EMPTY. THANKFULLY I got my kids pancakes because even they looked at their plate and said “this is it?” Age 4&7 Add $3 and get them an adult meal because it actually comes with potatoes at least. Even the thought of 3 mini pancakes with no fruit cup or anything seems like a joke of a meal for kids. You must not have kids! Also no coloring or any kids activities while you wait. Not kid friendly here.. on top of that we never got asked for sauces or checked on, but we did get asked if we wanted our check before our food even got to our table! Very odd and I said no, we haven’t even eaten yet. Never got a receipt, have no idea what we got charged for. Wish it was a better first experience, I really wanted to love this place.

My bride and I decided to celebrate Veterans Day with breakfast at the Dienger. The greeter was excellent and informed us that it would be a few minutes wait. No problem. She seated us 10 minutes later and provided us with water. I believe the statement was, "your server will be with you. Our server never showed up. I was in uniform, kind of hard to miss this guy in a Navy Khaki uniform. No service, no acknowledgement - I'll be with you shortly; nothing. Nothing. Serving staff going back and forth and not even a nod. I wasn't looking for a free meal or coffee, I just wanted to have a nice breakfast on Veterans Day. Absolute failure.

Enchanted Springs Ranch in Texas offers an authentic old western experience, transporting visitors to a different time and place. The ranch hosts various events, including Christmas festivities with activities for both kids and adults. With its unique Texas venue and entertainment options, it's a great choice for gatherings. The facility is also known for accommodating various needs, making it a popular choice for events like choir retreats.
I moved from northern Nevada about 2 years ago and have been missing the famous old west town Virginia city look it up, this magical place enchanted springs ranch filled that void and filled my heart for the holidays, what an amazing experience with so much to see and enjoy. Beautiful lights and scenery, live music, multiple old west buildings, steak on a stick to die for! Mom and I had the best time! Thank you Kat for telling us about the town and family history you were such a joy to meet and thank you kevin for the great hot chocolate. Will recommend everyone to come here. Thank you for making a Christmas wish come true!

Absolutely loved our experience at Enchanted Springs Ranch! From the moment we arrived, it was clear this place is something special. The setting is absolutely stunning—rolling Texas Hill Country landscapes, wide open skies, and a peaceful atmosphere that feels like stepping into another time. The ranch is immaculately maintained and incredibly picturesque, making it a perfect venue for events, family outings, or just a relaxing day enjoying nature. One of the highlights of our visit was meeting the people who run the ranch. They are some of the sweetest and most genuine folks we’ve ever encountered. Their hospitality made us feel immediately welcome, and their passion for what they do shines through in every aspect of the ranch. The animals on the property were another standout. From longhorns and bison to deer and protected species, every animal we saw was clearly well cared for and loved. It was a joy to see them up close and watch how calmly and happily they interacted with guests and staff. It’s evident the animals are a cherished part of the ranch family. The Western town on-site adds a fun and unique charm, especially for kids and anyone who appreciates a good nod to cowboy culture. There are so many thoughtful touches throughout the property that show how much heart has gone into creating a magical and memorable experience for visitors. Whether you’re planning an event, bringing a group, or just looking to spend some time in a beautiful and welcoming place, I can’t recommend Enchanted Springs Ranch enough. It’s a true Texas gem that left a lasting impression on us.

This ranch has been a go-to every year because of its proximity to San Antonio and the festive fun packed into one place. The Christmas lights everywhere delighted us, and the kids loved seeing the animals during the holidays. The hot cocoa was the perfect treat to warm up with after the kids played. We even roasted marshmallows for s'mores, a definite family favorite. It was a great way to celebrate the season and make lasting memories. Can't wait to go back next year!

Great family Christmas event. A must! Do much to do. Live music, food, games, and Santa! Great for kids and adults of all ages.
Veronica P — Google review
Enjoyed our night at Enchanted Springs during the holiday season. The venue had a light show, live music, mechanical bull riding, laser tag among other activities. It was not too crowded and entry/exit and parking were well ran.

We went to the Old West Lights Fest for the first time and it was absolutely beautiful. Good food, easy parking, no long lines or too many crowds, friendly staff, clean restrooms, and good live music. We had so much fun! Highly recommend.

Wow the Christmas event! This is hands down the BEST Christmas event I’ve been to in the 6 years I’ve lived in the San Antonio area. My kids loved it so much and all the adults did too. Great value (free under age 5), so much to do, great space, we felt safe given Covid too as most was outdoor or open air!

Definitely a must for the annual Old West Christmas Light Fest!! Tons of family fun, from laser tag, live music, smores, and even bull riding!! great food options, and a handful of "saloons" for the adults 😅 Get those tickets and plan for a night of good ol'fashion Texas fun ❤️

Aquatica San Antonio

Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Aquatica San Antonio is a South Seas-themed water park located near SeaWorld in the Texas Hill Country. The park offers thrill rides and sandy beaches for relaxation, making it a great destination for families. One of its main attractions is Stingray Falls, where visitors can ride a four-person raft to an underwater cave to see stingrays. Aquatica also provides various rides suitable for both older kids and toddlers, ensuring entertainment for everyone.
So much fun! This was the first of 3 stops on our Mother's Day adventure planned by our eldest daughter. This family of 10 outing that included 4 mothers, including my mother, provided laughs for everyone. The kids, and me too, enjoyed seeing Nana get knocked around by the waves in the wave pool. Funniest thing ever! But she had a blast! The slides, the lazy river, the sting ray experience, all awesome entertainment for the family.
Desira G — Google review
We had a wonderful experience during our visit! It was our first time bringing the kids, and they had an absolute blast. The water park offers a wide variety of attractions to explore. Most slides are available for guests 48 inches and taller, and the all-day dining deal was well worth it—there was a great selection of food, and the wait times were reasonable. I highly recommend purchasing a season pass, as it includes general parking. Arriving early is key, as parking and seating are on a first-come, first-served basis. Water shoes are a must for comfort and safety throughout the park. The lifeguards were very attentive, and for those visiting the SeaWorld side, wearing hats is a good idea for sun protection. Highly recommend this place for a fun-filled family day!
Elizabeth G — Google review
So much fun. This is a great place for family, friends, and dates. If you like water this is where you need to be. The activities are priced reasonably, there's ample parking. You get to pet Stingrays! Lots and lots to do and eat at great prices. Pack up your crew and go have some fun in the sun!
Lindarose D — Google review
Great place to visit! 100 times better than the one in Florida. Lines for the rides are small, pools amazing, free water and tastes so much better than Florida one. We went at the end of June, a sunny day on Thursday and it was excellent. On Friday we went to Sea World and it absolutely exceeded our expectations! NO LINES on the roller coaster!!! We went 5- 6 times in each and watched the shows. I would only go to San Antonio Sea world from now on! Photos from the trip to Alamo and River walk (free activity in San Antonio). Sadly I left my phone home and didn't do pictures at Aquatica.
Elena H — Google review
Parks opens at 1030. Multiple options for parking depending on how much you are willing to spend. $75+ will get you a covered parking and close to the entrance. -Highly recommend a cart to make belongings easier to store and track. - swim shoes instead of sandals - sunscreen / sunglasses - pack food in a cooler and go eat in the car to save you $$$ - enjoy the free aquarium before leaving Enjoy my views!
Calvin H — Google review
Aquatica is such a fun water park! The slides are awesome, the lazy river is super relaxing, and the kids had the best time splashing around. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re coming to SeaWorld and looking for a place to cool off. One warning though: do yourself a favor and don’t eat at Waterstone Grill. I just had the worst burger ever here. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting gourmet food inside a theme park, but this was beyond disappointing. The patty was dry and flavorless, the bun was stale, and the whole thing tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. For the price they charge, it’s a complete rip-off. SeaWorld is such a fun place, but this restaurant really brings down the experience. Save your money and eat somewhere else.
Gabriel Z — Google review
Tons of water, beverage, and food options within walking distance! Loved the lazy river - great flow and more my speed. Great way to stay cool and relax with family and friends on a hot day! 😁

This was our first time visiting Aquatica. We had a good time, the park wasn't overly crowded, but finding a lounge chair was next to impossible. Food prices were as expected - too high for the quality of any item, so we skipped out on eating there.

SeaWorld San Antonio offers a diverse range of experiences for visitors of all ages. The park features thrilling rides, educational animal encounters, and captivating shows that highlight the wonders of the ocean. Guests can enjoy up-close interactions with dolphins, penguins, orcas, sea turtles, and reef fish while learning about marine conservation. Thrill seekers can experience exhilarating coasters like the Tidal Surge and Texas Stingray.
Hadn’t been here since I was a kid myself. Our family had a wonderful time here. The food is great with more than enough portions. It’s very well kept up and clean. Our family loved the parade and water show at the end of the day. Very nice touch. We ends up getting the meal plan which was a better option for a family of four. Otherwise, be prepared to spend some money on every meal which can add up quickly. The disappointment of our day was that two of the rides seemed to be closed and they did not know when they would open again. But there was plenty to see and shows to watch throughout the day. Definitely more than what I remembered it being when I was a kid. We ended up purchasing season tickets as we will return soon.
Richard R — Google review
Our nieces and nephew had a great time. They really enjoyed seeing the dolphins and the killer whales. The rides were fun but it seemed like the turn around for getting the rides moving tool longer than necessary. The haunted house mazes were very fun and we were glad that we didn't have to pay extra for that.
Ken S — Google review
Don’t buy the all day dine in online. They made me buy it again in person so I ended up paying twice! Still haven’t figured out how to get my refund for this double payment. They put the shows at the same time so you can only watch one and don’t have time to see the other. Don’t buy the refill cups and the all day dine in because you get drinks with the all day dine in anyways. I liked the Orcas and the giant sea turtles. I didn’t have time to see the rest. Might be worth for your kids to do the experiences to meet up close with animals. They had the Halloween theme going on. The professional photos they take at the entrance and other spots don’t show up on the QR code unless you visit some office at the park which is lame! Also they are gone the next day so you can only get the photos the day of the visit. This makes no sense. You get once a year free entry for Military families.
Ren G — Google review
It's a beautiful park, and the animals are well cared for. Howl-o-Scream is really nice too. I wish there was more time during that event and that the food options were open later so that we could actually take advantage of the All Day Dining deal. Drinks were yummy and I loved the blood bags and jello shots.
Lizzie — Google review
We had a superb experience at the park! We saw the full lineup of incredible marine shows, featuring the dolphins, seals, and orcas, and enjoyed walking through the detailed aquariums. For thrill-seekers, the park also boasts several exciting roller coasters and a refreshing water attraction. To top it off, they now offer special Halloween events! If you want to participate in the seasonal fun, access can be purchased separately for the SeaWorld Halloween experience. Highly recommend a visit!
Vamseekrishna U — Google review
I absolutely loved the shows and I loved the haunted houses. The waits are kind of long. Don't recommend standing around if your heavily pregnant like me. But I suffered and managed lol because I wanted to enjoy as much as I could before our baby arrives. Nobody touches you very safe. Haunted houses not recommended for children or babies obviously. Safe enjoyable and fun for all. The shows were amazing.

I had an amazing experience at SeaWorld San Antonio! The place is clean, organized, and perfect for families and friends. The shows were incredible, especially the dolphins and orcas — truly memorable. The staff were very friendly and helpful, always making sure everyone was having a good time. The rides were fun, the atmosphere was great, and everything felt safe and well-managed. Overall, it was a wonderful day and definitely worth the visit. I highly recommend SeaWorld San Antonio for anyone looking for a fun and unforgettable experience!
ALI F — Google review
Pretty fun experience! We really enjoyed our visit. We got the food deal to get something to eat and drink every 90 minutes as we wandered the park and tried half the restaurants along the way at no extra cost. Definitely worth an all day or two day trip, we hit most of the attractions and a few rides and would definitely plan a second day next time! Kids loved the splash pad and water river ride thing.

Alsatian Steinbach Haus

Historical landmark
Visitor Centers
Now used as an info center, this wonderful Alsatian house is a great short visit and is a great example of Alsatian architecture that you can still see in Alsace. Most of the house is open to visitors and the attendant is well informed. The displays are well done and do a nice job discussing the previous owners and some history Castroville. Though hours are posted, be careful as the town only has one employee to man it and when she is not available the building is closed. Parking is plentiful and there are a handful of handicapped spots.
M B — Google review
This site is open to the public for free. Parking is also free and located just off of US Highway 90. The upstairs has a steep stairway with replica and authentic items from the 1800s. The site of present-day castroville was settled by people from Alsace so the home has the kind of unique blend of French and German typical of that region in Europe.
William B — Google review
This building is visible from the main road. The parking lot appears to be under construction (being repaved) but enough parking for a few cars at a time to be parked comfortably. Lovely historic building, a lot of history, and Miss Betty is full of knowledge. About the house and the surrounding area. She was very helpful in getting around. If you have a child under one I would suggest carrying. I was allowed to park my stroller downstairs and walk around. Photographs were encouraged. Noticeable signs not to touch items of the house. Small and narrow stairs to go upstairs. I was able to navigate without issue with a child in tow. You could donate to support the building. I would definitely recommend a stop to visit.

Beautiful gift from France. It is Castroville's Visitor Center. It is packed full of European furniture and decor. Two floors are open to the public. Woman inside was helpful and friendly. Ask where the locals eat, then go. Take the self guided walking tour. You will not be disappointed!

we made a short trip to this little town when we were staying in San Antonio during Thanksgiving break. This town is conveniently located near San Antonio. We went there but the visitor center was closed that day. However we were able to experience beautiful architecture that this building offered.

Very cool stop outside of San Antonio. Interesting to see & learn about the history of the house. Host there was very knowledgeable. Do drop some dollars in the box and take a visitor’s guide. Then continue on to the Castroville walking tour to see all the houses (you can drive around too if you prefer).

This place is a gem! The owners are excellent and the place is a country oasis (even during a drought). We felt the most safe here for the 100+ days we stayed. You can’t beat the rates and the amenities (laundry included for long term stays, WI-FI //strong connection: I worked remotely here everyday// S P A C I O U S lots w/picnic table and fire ring, private restroom and hot shower, kid and pet friendly) Every single person we met here was so down to earth, fun and just good people. Forever grateful that we found this campground and were able to stay awhile. *Best Christmas decorations*

This place is the awesome, quite and beautiful! We went on the Labor Day weekend, and we have the whole place ourselves on Friday night! The water is clear and beautiful, we had such a great time there floating, finding rocks and discovered secret part of the river. Restroom and bath are very clean at the RV parking area, remember to bring some water with you if you camp in the tent area, but there is always water to wash dishes and WiFi at the RV camping area. We discovered some great wild animals there too. We saw deers at night right across our tent! And some turkey crew in the early morning. Some bat and a lot fish in the river which not scared of people at all, they will swim with you! My boyfriend even saw a small bobcat the other morning, but it run away so fast once it hear the noise lol. The owners are super nice and friendly, it is a family business. We arrived after sunset but the father and son Eric greeting us, show us around, help us setup and bring some firewood with their truck. This place seems pretty new, they said they will expand more. I suggest a small gift shop will be even better with some essentials like ice, sunblocks, small gifts, etc. So you don’t have to go the the little shop in town, but it’s only a five minuets drive from the campsite. We will definitely visit there regularly, and bring our friends and family as well!
Elena Z — Google review
Stayed a couple nights w my family at the tent campground & loved it! Serene environment w lots of turkey, ducks, deer, & birds. Relaxed, fished, & went swimming. Big thanks to Mr. Derek & family for their hospitality. If your looking for a peaceful get away, here's the spot. A little piece of primitive Texas heaven. Thanks, can't wait to go again!
Lc — Google review
A wonderful no-frills campground. We like to camp to feel like we are "getting away from it all." Large sites, walking distance to access the river. The site we stayed at had full hookups. Numerous deer in the area. If you want the standard amenities and to be shoe-horned next to your neighbor, this isn't the place for you.
Jill M — Google review
Very accommodating and beautiful little spot near the Medina. Even had firewood on-site for your camp. The drive from SA alone was worth it. Lots of winding roads throughout the hills, and plenty of natural beauty.
Eli C — Google review
Some of the nicest folks manage this place. We got there after hours and they helped us into our spot. The spot was very nice and very big. It had a fire ring and a picnic table as well. He brought us some fire wood as well. We went to San antonio for a quick trip at bass pro shops and when we came out my truck had been stolen with my rv keys in it. The local locksmith was busy so the manager graciously helped me with drilling out my keyhole so that we could get into the trailer. Anyway..... if we ever come back to this area we will definitely stay just because of how nice and helpful they were. The water tasted good and had excellent pressure. Everything was very clean as well. Great place overall.
Russell P — Google review
We arrived last minute and glad we gave it a chance. The owners (father and son duo) greeted us as we entered and were more than helpful throughout our stay. Even helped fix an issue I was having with my AC. We were able to drive a short distance down, to get access to the river and go on a hunt for arrowheads. You can grocery shop 20 mins away at the local Lowe’s. Spaces were more than enough to accommodate my family. It even came with a picnic table and burn pit for the firewood. I would recommend and enjoy coming back again!
Charles M — Google review
This place is basically someone's yard set up as a campsite. It was very clean. Had a private bathroom w/ hot shower which was stocked and awesome. The river is not near the place but there's really not a river left. Be ready to drive on very loose rocky roads. Rocks, not gravel. 3 night minimum makes for a pricey 1 night tent camping trip but my husband and I enjoyed ourselves.

We didn't get to go inside. Seeing old churches like this is awesome. The architecture, stained glass and construction always amaze me. We did get to enjoy how it looked at night.

The church’s historic charm, Gothic Revival architecture, and warm natural light made for the great setting. From the exposed wooden beams to the stained glass windows and beautifully preserved altar, every corner of this space tells a story. The staff was welcoming and accommodating, and the flow of the day went smoothly thanks to their organization. We highly recommend St. Louis Catholic Church to couples looking for a sacred and visually stunning place to say "I do." We can’t wait to film here again!

Here is a church built in 1868 with a beautiful statue of St Louis (Louis IX) who was king of France from 1226 to 1270 and who died during the eight crusade. Both the church and the statue offer a glimpse into the medieval world from the heart of modern Texas.

Andi Stein’s behavior doesn’t align with the values she promotes in public, and it’s disappointing to experience such poor treatment. I hope she reconsiders her approach towards others, as respect and kindness should extend to all. I hope this is addressed as she is a Board Member of this Church which reflects negatively on the values and ethics she is supposed to uphold.

126 riverside acres with hiking trails, a swimming pool, an RV park & various fields & courts.
Well maintained and clear park. The playgrounds were nice, would be a lot better if they had a shade over them for the summer heat. But overall a nice and beautiful park.

Wish the water levels would come back up but all in all we had a great fishing. No catching unfortunately. Right before we left the fish started jumping up on the surface. So I know they're out there at least!

This is a great park with many things to do. There are many hiking trails that are fairly well maintained. They also have huge soccer feilds you can use during off season. Also this is a great place to walk your dog just please pick up the poop. The park is also free to get in.

Beautiful park! There is really something for everyone to enjoy here. Tent and RV camping available. A pool is at the entryway. There are multiple walking paths. River was a bit low. Lots of picnic areas. There are a lot of places for the kids to play. Pavilions to rent via QR code. The views were spectacular.

It's a nice park to visit on a cool, sunny day in Castroville. Plenty of walking trails and benches. The river is practically bone dry in comparison to what it once was, 😔. I happened to spot this place just coincidentally and decided to pull in, this place is so cute and cozy. The staff there was lovely and very inviting the items. There were very unique that we didn’t try the restaurant from what I heard the food. There is amazing as well. We had a lovely time looking at all that they offered picked up a few knickknacks as well. Will definitely be coming back when we were in the area.

This is a really beautiful place- the buildings and grounds, patios are so lovely. We enjoyed wandering around through the large shop and bought some gifts. Phia was so friendly and helpful. We decided to eat breakfast in the restaurant and that was an excellent decision. The food was delicious. The history behind this location is very interesting. We are glad we drove over- They also have a coffee bar with gelato and baked goods.

The special was Chicken and Dumplings with French Onion Soup Salad Brussels Sprouts. The Chicken and Dumplings were the worst I have-eaten, French Onion Soup in a small and not tasty , the salad was in a cup size bowl. My friend had the Meat Loaf. She it tasted like a ball of hamburger. The Banana Cream Pie was delicious.Don’t think we will go back

First of all Tracie was just super great serving our table. She never missed a beat. Not even on our refills of tea and water on our table of four! Up sold us on desert! Double the upsold by offering coffee after the meal and desert! And refilled it too. We love her! Food was great too! The manger came around and ask about the food and service ! Hey this place is Awesome!

First, at the front desk the two girls didn’t greet us, they were just chatting together and then two minutes later one told us to follow her… Same when we left, NO goodbye! Really rude! We went for a breakfast that was fresh and good except I asked for over medium eggs but they were overcooked Also the lack of hygiene principles: the waitress changed the trash bag from the trash can, touching the cover etc… then she prepared my hot chocolate without washing her hands first 🤢 but she was very polite and smiling. Vegan and vegetarian alternatives are interesting Prices are very reasonable Nice atmosphere nice view tranquil place Don’t get an appointment within at least two hours because they are taking their time to serve people so just be patient

Very nice restaurant with excellent food. Everyone at our table enjoyed their food. From French toast, avocado toast, and cheesy grits. We enjoyed the food, and service was excellent. Tracie represented the restaurant well. She was knowledgeable about the food and everything arrived at our table quickly. The location has a cute shop attached. At a historical location and the setting was very pretty. Worth the trip.

History museum
The Frontier Times Museum in Bandera, Texas is a rustic local museum that showcases the rich heritage and cowboy culture of the region. Families with kids will find plenty to enjoy at the Bandera Natural History Museum, which features life-size replica dinosaurs, Ice Age animals along walking trails, bone-digging play stations, animal mounts, a pollinator garden, Latin American ceremonial masks, and a 20,000-year-old mammoth femur bone.
This is a very unique museum. There is a lot to see here. There were a few items I've never seen it in person before and they were is emaculate condition. Make sure to check out the two headed goat display. Very low paced and very chill museum. Take your time.

I was in the hill country for 3 days of training and i am glad i stopped in here. If you love history and antiques this is the place for you. I have to brag on the 2 lovely ladies working behind the counter, they were so nice and welcoming.

Wonderful museum, absolutely packed with so many interesting and unexpected pieces. A must see when in Bandera and we loved the wagon ride that was included in the admission fee. Discovering the bizarre items were similar to an Easter egg hunt 😅

The reception/ticket lady was warm, friendly and kind. We spent about an hour looking closely at the interesting collection they have. Worth the visit if you're in town!

There is a lot to learn from this quirky museum! Our 6 year old loved the scavenger hunt and the docents were incredibly kind and informative. Definitely worth a visit!

This is a really interesting little museum. There are so many cool objects, artifacts from around the world and different time periods. They have weird oddities, intricate pieces, historical pieces, archeological pieces, you will definitely find something that intrigues you here. Also, shout out to the lady who works there she was super sweet and informative!

This is a nice little museum with lots of historic artifacts. I didn't realize that it has been around since 1933! Definitely worth a visit if you're in Bandera. It's $8 admission, but free if you have a reciprocal level membership at another museum (NARM/ROAM).
Sandeep G — Google review
Worth a visit. Better than the museums in Fredericksburg and 1/3 the price. Amazing collection of 19th century artifacts. We spent 2 hours looking around in there.

always a fun and wholesome experience at Devine Acres Farm! Great activities, friendly staff, and a beautiful property. great for all ages, fun drinks and foods for adults to try as well as kids, tons of photo-ops and the new ball zone gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from us great for an older audience so much fun! between the animals, the pumpkin patch, flower fields and all the games, you can stay entertained the whole time. We loved the little touches that made it feel personal and welcoming. can’t wait for the christmas season! pictured is the pumpkin stroll along with a cute mural and the newly added streamer bridge! 📸

If I could give more stars, I would! We were able to join with our Kingdom Kids Homeschool Co-Op group today and boy did we have SO much fun. Devine Acres Farm is definitely a staple for the season! Highly recommend and will be returning soon. Many high quality food items from donuts to pizza. Friendly and helpful staff. Extremely entertaining activities for all ages. You can just tell this place is beautifully ran! 10/10 experience and we were so grateful to attend.

If I could give this place 10 stars. I would. I recommend paying online for better deal. We did. 😉 The amount of fun our kiddos had left them sleeping early. They were so worn out. Food was great, not overpriced and you get a lot! Yes, it's a little dusty, but it's a farm y'all. We came out from Bulverde/Spring Branch, TX so we had a nice little trip. Thank goodness for highways and snacks. Tried the apple cider donut. It was fluffy and delicious. Highly recommend. Come when gates open, bring plenty of water and some cowboy/girl boots.

Loved the Fall Fest at Devine Acres Farm! There were so many activities for both kids and adults to enjoy. The fall decor was spectacular! The food and drink selection was also perfect. You can definitely spend the entire day there and not be bored. My family and I will definitely be coming back to enjoy more of the farm.
Amy G — Google review
We visited Devine Acres Farms for the first time for the fall events. First, it was quite comfortable in terms of the crowds. I appreciate that they limit the number of tickets sold per day. As a couple without kids, we enjoyed many activities including people watching, strolling the grounds and stopping for the many photo ops, playing games like frog Frisbee and water duck races. We loved the Zinnia flower fields, felt the cool breeze while sitting on the bench swings, rooted for Yolanda the goat in the goat races, and cheered for the kids during the donut on a string eating contest. We also ate and shopped in the Mason Jar where we could buy our Devine Acres Farm's Xmas ornament. There were so many, many things to do. We look forward to returning at Christmas time.
Patricia P — Google review
Our first time there and will definitely be back for the Christmas 🎄 festival too. So, so many photo ops, great food, live music, hay rides, goat races, fishing. It’s so clean too and well taken care of. Highly recommend!

First time here! Was absolutely amazing and beautiful. Lots of photo ops and plenty of things for the kiddos to do! It was definitely hot so bring waters, comfortable shoes and fresh clothes. The staff was so nice and sweet and things were decently priced. Will definitely be going back
Zaira R — Google review
We had an amazing time at Devine Acres Farm! Everything was so well thought out. And sooo many more offerings than other pumpkin patches. The food, beverages and entertainment were all excellent and well worth the 1 hour drive from our house. There were plenty of shade trees and pavilions to relax under when we needed a break from all the events to enjoy a cold lemonade. My family loved the original offerings like Goat Racing(yes, goat racing!), Monster Mac (think BBQ loaded mac and cheese) and Mango Strawberry Margaritas! Make sure to go see Lee who was the goat racing “announcer”. He was a hoot and kept everyone engaged and entertained! The best part was my teenagers had a blast. Those with teens know that’s not always easy to do. We all agreed this is our new all-time favorite pumpkin patch! We’ll definitely be back when it cools down to check out the Christmas Trees!

Dixie Dude Ranch

Dude ranch
Sights & Landmarks
Cozy rooms & cabins on a working dude ranch offering free meals, horseback rides & entertainment.
Dixie Dude Ranch was fabulous from the first welcoming ‘howdy’ to last ‘ya’ll come back’. Every detail is thought of and I can say you will not go home hungry! There are animals to pet, trail rides, hikes, fishing, swimming, hay rides, exploring, and so much to do. We hiked up to the buzzard cave and saw baby buzzards! Everyone is so kind! The accommodations are great and we enjoyed family style dining so we could get to know other folks on the ranch! We look forward to coming again!

If we could give it more than five stars we would! The owner, staff, Wranglers, and fellow Ranch guests made this birthday celebration for our daughter one to remember for sure! This place is heaven on Earth for horse and animal lovers. Wish we were closer because we would come back again in for longer next time!
Brian M — Google review
We just had the best experience at Dixie Dude Ranch. The highlight- other than the great time my friends and I had together- were the staff of this ranch. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Specifically, Kathryn went above and beyond helping us with a wedding ceremony on site. She made the bouquet for the bride! She made sure there was something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue! So awesome! Rick was also awesome, there to help us set everything up and tear down. Loved the weekend! Thank you!

Where do I even start? This place is absolutely amazing! My husband was a little worried because I’m not exactly a country girl — we’re more the Caribbean resort type — but y’all, this experience was nothing short of magical. The staff were so kind and welcoming. The horses rode beautifully (Wink stole my heart — she’s such a sweetheart). The wranglers were knowledgeable, patient, and handled even the rowdier guests with grace and humor. Jacob was one of the first wranglers we met, and he’s just an all-around great guy. Ray, Zack, and John were all wonderful too. The rooms were spotless with plenty of hot water, the pool and hot tub were perfect, and the food… oh, the food! Three delicious home-cooked meals every single day. I can’t say a single bad thing about this place. If you’re looking for a genuine, unforgettable, authentic experience — this is it. You can thank me later 😉 Sincerely, A not-so-country girl

The experience was overall a 7 out of 10. My 2 night stay was very comfortable . The cabin was clean and AC was on point . The food was excellent… The horse ride was exciting I felt safe and comfortable with the helpful cowboy staff. The discomfort was the entertainment which included a man popping a whip while giving false history of the whip. This caused me to leave his show… the surprising looks from most of the guests when I walked in to dinner . Also, a staff member advising me not to go to town because, “I came on vacation and could go back on probation “. Bye-the-Way, I’m Black. #Texascountrygirl

What a fantastic experience at the Dixie Dude Ranch. The food, service and rooms were great but it really is the people that make this place special. From Alec, Rick and Kathlyn at reception to Jacob, John and Zack in the corral — everyone goes out of their way to deliver a friendly, authentic experience. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a true cowboy adventure.
James M — Google review
While the majority of our visit was good, there were problems that visitors should be aware of. The rooms were extremely rustic, a little t ty oo rustic with few plugs for modern items. But I think they are forcing you to go without them. However, when the equipment involves my health then it’s a problem. Second, the wranglers for the most part are excellent. The lead one is rude and does not care about visitors. I was put on a horse with serious safety issues so bad I did not ride. Finally, don’t trust your quoted prices. I received a bill more than twice what I expected. And they quilted me into paying their amount by threatening to fire the friendly very nice lady who sent me the amount. If you go, watch yourself carefully!

Nestled in the stunning Medina Mountains, Escondida is an enchanting adults-only resort that promises a unique escape from the everyday hustle. This luxurious haven is perfect for couples seeking romance or honeymooners looking to celebrate their love amidst breathtaking nature and wildlife. The spacious Southwestern-style rooms are adorned with hand-painted tiles and come equipped with upscale amenities, including balconies or patios that offer spectacular views. Guests rave about the cozy atmosphere, particularly enjoying large showers designed for relaxation.
I visited with two girlfriends because we just needed an escape for a fun weekend. We choose Escondida because it was small, beautiful, had a spa, hiking trails on the property, and it was close to Hill Country State Natural Area where we went hiking for a day. Escondida was just what we needed! It is beautiful and the staff is amazing. The meals were cooked with love and tasted wonderful. I have celiac disease and cannot eat gluten. I notified them ahead of time and every breakfast and dinner had a special gluten free version of the main meal and even included gluten free desserts. It was all so delicious. Everyone was so incredibly accommodating and made us feel like family. Saturday night we had live music on the patio and a fire and I could not have asked for a better evening. The resort is BYOB so bring whatever you want. The rooms were beautiful and clean. There are so many different sitting areas and places you can escape and you can even a hike up to the top of a hill to an old cabin with an amazing view. I didn't make it up there this trip, but I plan to return and it will be at the top of my to do list along with more spa appointments. (Tip: schedule the massages AFTER the hiking). Thank you to Sarah and the all of the amazing staff for your generous hospitality and providing us with such an unforgettable weekend. I have a feeling you will be seeing us again in the future!

My wife and I wanted to get away from the rat race for a few days to celebrate her birthday. I actually found this place through the chase card rewards program. What a lucky find it was. Our stay was top notch in every way. We loved the setting, room, food and friendly warmth of the staff and Owner. We found the byob aspect to be a big plus. It was nice to spend the weekend with my wallet in my pocket and enjoy our favorite drinks, just the way we like them. People wrote reviews complaining about the lack of mobile service, we felt that this aspect truly allowed us to disconnect and relax. We were comforted knowing that there is an emergency line, just in case something important took place at home during our stay. Sarah was exemplary with a unmatched sense of humor, Darlene is a magician in the kitchen and Linda was ultra accommodating. Wolfgang was warm, welcoming and extremely interesting to get to know. He shed some light on the history of the property that had us enthralled. Thank you all! Understand that this is a unique experience that a mega resort will never be able to offer its customers. If your goal is to relax in a secluded, pristine country setting. Enjoy a top notch massage and or spa treatments and eat plenty of amazing comfort food prepared with love. This is the place! We'll be back soon.
Tony F — Google review
Pros) Food was good, comfort food. Staff was friendly, Room and public areas were clean. Nestled between the hills the resort location is very peaceful. Massage was great. Cons) Maintenance: Hot tub was nonfunctional during our 3 night stay. Pool is in pretty rough shape, pool surface is disintegrating on the floor and pulling away from walls in spots. Pergola shown in photos of room #8 is gone, from the looks of other timber elements on the building likely rotted away. Health and Safety: No handrail on the bridge that crosses the creek to the pool, OSHA recommends 34-38 inches height handrail. Guest would be advised to practice precaution when crossing. I wanted to rate this place higher, It has potential. Just needs some TLC.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. We loved Escondida! Not only was it private, with few other guests, but the grounds were beautiful! I also can't say enough great things about the food. One night we had seabass which was out of this world delicious, and we had banana cake with butter cream icing! We'll be back again!
T N — Google review
We love this place! It could use a refresh but the location and size was perfect for our anniversary. Fredericksburg and Kerrville are not far away for some shopping and eating. Everyone there was friendly and helpful. Sara the manager was wonderful. The meals were yummy. The spa was fantastic and the massages were perfect. If you want a nice quiet getaway I would highly recommend checking out Escondido.

We spent our anniversary weekend at Escondida after planning to visit for many years. We originally discovered Escondida while watching Texas Country Reporter. It is just as we imagined. The food and staff were fantastic. We met great people there during our stay and enjoyed dining on the patio. We are already planning our return.
Ridge M — Google review
My wife and I have been to Escondida twice now and love it! The rooms are very large and cozy and the shower is extremely big so you can relax in there. The food they serve at breakfast and dinner is amazing plus there's complimentary drinks and appetizers. While we haven't used it yet there is a very nice pool and fire pit area too. If you have to have internet and cellphone signal to survive then this place will be a turn off for you, there is none! But for my wife and I we love it because we can unplug and just chill.
Josh K — Google review
Had a wonderful time! The rooms were very nice and we had a great view. The staff were amazing. The food was great! Enjoyed our time at the Spa. Bob and Kelli Phillips are genuine people that waited on the guests and shared great stories throughout the weekend. Truly enjoyed the weekend and can't wait to return!

Hill Country State Natural Area

State park
Nature & Parks
Nature preserve
Large park with rugged terrain offering 40 miles of multiuse trails, a campground & primitive sites.
First hike of the year finished! Amazing! Beautiful! Great hike! Equestrian, bikes and regular hikes are all present, but you will have to share the trails. The Wilderness Loop Overlook Trail is very challenging, be careful of the steep inclines. The Merrick trail was easy to moderate. This state park lives up to it. Remember: the TX State park pass gets you into all the state parks for free!
Kimberly F — Google review
Beautiful scenery. I did the one mile hike since I was passing through on my way to another park. The staff was very friendly and recommended the hike. The trails are great for mountain biking.
Merideth O — Google review
Nice scenery and moderate challenging hike. We went on 2-3 different trails and did get lost at a point. Lots of horse poop, so be careful. There needs to be more signs as you hike so you know which trail you’re on, at least those “0.15 miles” etc. No signs on the road either. Wear sunscreen, even though it was cloudy. Overall, decent place but needs more attention to details and upkeep.
Stephanie W — Google review
A must visit if you want some beautiful views. Plenty of trails with different levels of climbing. Being plenty of water and sunscreen.
ROY T — Google review
Tucked away but very friendly TPWD staff. Horses available by reservation to discover the trails easier. After heavy rains most trails are closed until the slippery mud dries up. Beautiful area.
Kathy T — Google review
I cam here on a weekend. The woman at the reception was very nice and welcoming, great staff. Unfortunately they closed the trails because it rained the day before, So before coming here, I would strongly recommend calling to make sure the trails are still opened. Nevertheless, I walked along the main road and the views were great. It was about 4 miles round trip. It would obviously have been a better experience to use the trails, but I was still very happy with the visit.
Christopher C — Google review
During the off-season you don't have to make a reservation in advance but during the cooler months I do recommend because they're limited on parking. Wonderful hiking areas and that's the main feature of this state park
Sharon M — Google review
The camping spot was nicely shaded and we had ample room for our tent and tables. We were able to book a guided sunset horseback ride which was the highlight for me! The company we used meets right at the park entrance and takes you through the hiking trail. The local town Bandera is cute as well. Will need to visit again!

A very pleasant experience. Super happy for the afternoon/evening we spent here on a Saturday. We used campfire spot, tried out the hayride, tractor ride, slides, flower field, mini corn maze, and kids playground. Kettle corn was amazing. Posted some campfire pics because there weren't any when I tried looking before I came to visit.

The South Texas Maize is a great venue with fun for the whole family. Slides, train rides and plenty of other activities for the kiddos. During corn season, they set up an actual corn maze to experience. There are even activities for the adults, with live music and a huge dance barn with plenty of seating. Definitely a place to check out.

This was one if the best experiences I have had with my Beautiful Daughters. There are so many activities for the kiddos. Great music, staff, clean grounds and Rest Rooms. It was my first time ever and I enjoyed every second.

Made the hour drive from San Antonio to visit their Pumpkin Patch and Fall activities. They have so many family friendly activities from the Pumpkin Patch, Hay Ride, Swings, Zip Lines, Hay Bale Jump, Dance Barn, Barrel Trail, Mountain Slide, Bubble Buckets, Corn Maze, kids play areas, games, etc... There's also apple cannons you can shoot for $5 per bucket. Whenever you need a break, there's 2 different food areas with plenty of shaded picnic tables area throughout the ranch. There's also a dance barn with live music, alcohol drinks, kettle corn, chicharron. Ranch had many activities appropriate for people of all ages. Fun place to spend a day with the family.
LeWayne B — Google review
They don't take cash any more. You also have to buy tickets ahead of time, online. Credit cards or digital payment for all food and paid attractions, Like the apple cannons. Don't wait in line for the front bathrooms, there is a bigger one in the red dance hall in the back. The bounce pillows are not there anymore, but they added extra attractions. The new swings are great. The giant bubbles are fun too.
Richard M — Google review
Perfect for families!!! They have so many activities for the kids to enjoy and even the adults. There are food, drink, AND adult beverage options. The pumpkin patch and flower fields are great. Amd there are a bunch of different places for photo ops!!!

This is such an amazing place to take your dog, family & friends. The wildflowers were absolutely gorgeous. The maze was fun and entertaining. The people that run this place are extremely polite and pleasant. I particularly liked the "cashless" aspect of the ranch (debit card, credit card etc. only). I enjoyed walking through and picking out my own pumpkin too. If you have kids, then this is the perfect place to bring them for some great times. There are plenty of spots to take photos and friendly people to take pictures of you with your family. This was my first time attending, but I plan to go back every year. Take an enjoyable drive and have a blast.

Awesome fall corn maze! Friendly, family operated! So many activities for kids... Long slide, bouncer pad, barrel train rides, hay ride, corn maze, swings.... All included in price. There are only a few things that cost extra (picking flowers, pumpkins). The owners and employees are SO friendly and fun. It is a great value for the price! It was not over-crowded. We had so much fun! And, a bonus... The restrooms are super clean!

Lost Maples State Natural Area

Mentioned on

State park
Nature & Parks
Lost Maples State Natural Area in Texas offers a stunning natural experience with its diverse wildlife, limestone canyons, and picturesque fall foliage along the river valley. The best time to visit is during late October through mid-November when the park showcases some of the most beautiful fall colors in Texas. The well-marked trails provide spectacular views and opportunities for primitive camping. Hiking the East loop offers amazing overlooks and a chance to witness the deep red colors of the maples.
Went during peak season for the fall foliage and it was amazing! Definitely one of the best and most beautiful state parks I’ve been too! They have east trails that only take a little bit, and they have hard trails that are challenging but the views for all of them are great! It’s a a popular park so you’ll be able to interact with other hikers and have plenty of neighbors for camping!
Emily — Google review
Beautiful area for nature walk and has lots of shade from the maple trees. We even saw some benches along the way. Definitely bring water during the warm months. We did the East trail walk to see Monkey Rock and the Grotto before turning around and it was close to 4 miles round trip!
Peter H — Google review
Super pretty park. The area is beautiful. The hiking was nice. I love being able to take our dogs with us. The fact that Texas State Parks typically don’t use switchbacks to protect the assents is the only reason that I didn’t select 5 stars.
John W — Google review
Visited the park on October 18. The leaves haven’t changed fully yet, but you can already feel the beauty of the season starting to show. The trails are peaceful, and the natural scenery is lovely—definitely a great spot to enjoy a quiet walk in nature!
Hilal A — Google review
Fascinating area for nature walk and had an amazing time! We brought homemade food, including panipuri as an Indian starter, which was perfect after completing two trails: the Maple Trail (~0.4 miles) and the East Trail (~3.1 miles). The trails offer beautiful scenic views with shade from maple trees, benches for resting, a peaceful stream, and vibrant fall foliage that peaks from late October to early November. We hiked to Monkey Rock and the Grotto on the East Trail, about 4 miles round trip. The weather was cool, so comfortable warm clothes and sturdy shoes are a must. Don’t forget to bring water during warmer months. Highly recommend this spot for nature lovers and anyone looking to combine great food with outdoor adventure!
Payal K — Google review
Beautiful park and campground. We were about two weeks early to see the autumn 🍂 colors; however, the entire park is gorgeous with very nice hiking. No cell or wifi service. Some of the campers drove into town to get service. We were completely content being off the grid for a few days.

Enjoyed seeing the monkey rock and the grotto on a beautiful day. Wear boots 🥾 as you will walk on some rocky 🪨 trails. We went last Monday so the leaves were just starting to change color! Keep up to date on their website so you know when to go.

While staying in boerne for a few days i decided to take a ride to see this museum. Boy am i glad i did. These are beautiful and neat bikes and it gave me a reason to explore the hill country. I can't say enough about how wonderful the owner is. She was great to just talk about bikes and travels experienced in life. May God continue to bless her in all things

Amazing collection of vintage motorcycles that you'd never expect to see tucked away in the southern Texas Hill country. Surrounded by great roads for a day ride! Worth the admission price.

An incredible slice of motorcycle history and the history of an incredible couple, Allan and Debbie Johncock. Over 65 bikes that have been completely restored and are in running condition. Even if you aren’t a rider the $7 entry fee is absolutely worth it!

Bit pricey at $7 a head to get in but, cool bikes and some earlier and particularly rare ones from the days of early motorcycling are part of the collection. Worth checking out if your in the area and the roads in that part of the Hill country are a great ride also.

Frio Bat Flight Tours

Tours
Nature & Wildlife Tours
I am a return visitor after watching a flight during a family trip about 23 years ago. This time, I returned with my spouse and kids. I'm glad to see they're still giving tours!!! I'm pretty sure we had the same guide as one of the ones I'd had 23 years ago, so I'm hoping to look through my old photos soon and post or share that one, too. This is a perfect location to watch the sun set as you wait for the bats to take flight. There is also plenty of wildlife to see while waiting- our group saw deer, rabbits, birds of prey, cave swallows, and other birds that our guide identified. They teach you the history of the cave, along with facts about the bats. Our guide also showed us various stars, planets, and the International Space Station as it went by, which is what the moving "light" in the second video is.
Valerie B — Google review
Just so amazing to see all the bats take flight! We had to have seen 500,000 leave the cave and some were even caught by Hawks! So very cool!! Just wear bug repellent!! 100% would go back!
Nate J — Google review
So just to be clear, you are paying $14 to access a random remote spot on a ranch with no amenities and millions of bats. That’s it. And is it worth it? YES!! We didn’t wait at all for the bats. In fact, we got to the entry of the ranch close to 7:30, didn’t realize how much of a drive it still was from there to the cave, and saw them start pouring out as we were driving up. I was bummed thinking we’d only catch the tail end of it by the time we walked up. LOL. Guess I didn’t think through how long it would take millions and millions of bats to fly out of a couple of small holes in the earth! It lasts forever! We spent probably over an hour up on the hill and they were still streaming out when we left. I have enjoyed smaller colonies, and even the larger bat flight in Austin, but this is unique in that the bats are so near over your head and there are no other noises corrupting the amazing sound of just them FLYING. I guess usually it is more of a “tour”? I didn’t even see a guide if one was there, not sure how I missed that being there for so long. There could be better signage and a clearer FAQ online, and even a port a potty would be a nice addition. But still overall worth the cost for the experience and I would come back.

One of the coolest natural experiences! Easy to get to, the experience of the bats flying out from the cave and overhead and then watching them dance in the sky at sunset 😍 It's a hidden gem thing to do

One of the coolest natural events we've ever seen! If you hate bats this is a nightmare, but if you love them it is epic! We were blown away but how awesome this was. Definitely worth the fee & would come again.

Amazing experience. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and we got to see the whole 10-12 Million of them make their nightly voyage. It smells bad but par for the course when there's 10 feet of poop next to you. Highly recommend! It's a hidden gem in the middle of Texas.

We have seen this twice and it's amazing. The sight of millions of bats leaving the cave is something you will never forget. The ranch the cave is located on is spectacularly beautiful as well.

We waited for the gate to be open for quite some time. When we finally did get in, the bats had already started pouring out so we missed quite a bit of it. It was around $100 for our family of 6 and nobody even checked our tickets. The bat's were amazing, but I don't know that we would be willing to pay that price again for a 10 minute experience.

Frio Canyon Motorcycle Stop

Gift shop
T-shirt store
Gift & Specialty Shops
My wife and I have been to this place twice already. It's a fun spot for bikers to take a break after riding the Twisted Sisters, have some delicious food, and check out the souvenir shop. Unfortunately for us, they didn't have the "Twisted Sister" shirts in our sizes in stock, so we had to place an online order a few weeks later when they got them back in stock. The turnaround time from order to delivery was about a week. Make sure you check them out if you're in Leakey!

Recently stopped at Frio Canyon Motorcyle Stop for a private lunch/event. Staff and owner happily hosted our big group and made a great lunch/relaxation pit stop after driving the Twisted Sisters. The food, ambiance and gift shop were all great. We look forward to stopping by again.

We visited last November’24 with the Bogey Biker Twisted in Texas ride. Your establishment is a gem! Plenty of parking, open air bar, gift shop, and grill that served excellent burgers! 🍔 Frio Canyon MC stop is where it’s at! 🤙🏼🇺🇸

No frills, no thrills. You get what you paid for fairly fast. Sauces were good. Clean. Limited indoor seating. Extensive protected outdoor seating with a magnificent view. Must shop the gift store if you have ridden the Three Sisters.

Owner invited me in after hours as i met up with my group riding through the twisted sisters. Welcoming place, even after hours. The service doesnt stop at closing, these folks are hard working and it shows. Worth a stop

This place has the best burgers. I was blown away. I would probably ride the 350 miles from home just for their burgers. So good! The bread is out of this world! Oh yea… and the twisted sisters is fun too haha

Great place for a burger and beer, if you're into it (not me before canyon carving). The place hops with groups, so order your burger first before anything else. They don't price gouge when they really could, but skimp on burger quality instead. It's perfectly fine if you like WalMart burger patties. . Don't forget to shop! You need at least one Twisted Sister shirt in your collection. They also have a good selection of bike accessories that might temp you.

The store has reasonable prices and top quality products. The drinks are also priced right. Even sodas are only $1 and a cup of ice as well. Great of twisted sisters t-shirt and vests. This is a great place to stop for a break just wish they had a gas station.

Parks
Garner State Park, situated in Concan, Texas, is a sought-after spot for family getaways, particularly during the summer months. The park boasts the refreshing Frio River where visitors can partake in activities like swimming, tubing, and paddling. Additionally, there are various recreational options such as hiking trails, camping grounds, fishing spots, miniature golf courses, and geocaching opportunities. Visitors also appreciate the clean facilities and helpful staff members at the park.
Absolutely beautiful! 🌿 From the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into a nature postcard — clear water running over smooth rocks, colorful leaves, and those incredible hill country views. We explored the trails, discovered the Crystal Caves, and soaked up every bit of peace and adventure the park had to offer. The Frio River was stunning — so clear you could see every ripple — and the sound of it flowing over the rocks was pure therapy. Days were warm and sunny, nights cool and cozy — perfect for campfires, burgers, and stargazing. ✨ It’s one of those places that reminds you how amazing God’s creation really is. We’ll definitely be back for more of that Garner magic! 🌄❤️

Love love love Garner State Park. This is my second time camping here and it never disappoints. Frio river is super clear and the views are gorgeous! Also I'd like to mention that the water pressure in the showers it's fantastic; a pleasant surprise. The only downside of the park is there some construction. There's a stoplight that holds up traffic coming from the opposite direction for quite a while. Traffic going both directions got backed up very quickly. Other than that, I highly recommend visiting Garner State Park, especially now that the fall colors are going to start poppin.

One of my favorite places now. I want to visit in the fall every year. My wife and 3 year old stayed in a cabin next to a family of 5. We all had fun. Hikes were nice, water was cold (Frio) and the view was spectacular. You kind of forget it's Texas. I had to carry my son in a backpack while hiking. Old Baldy was too dangerous, White Cave was too. Crystal Cave worked out okay and had a great view at the Old Baldy Outlook. The cabin was the perfect location. Criticisms: Litter everywhere. I wish they had more people picking up trash, or people would take care of it themselves. The AC in the bedroom of our cabin (10) was loud and annoying. Thankfully it was cool, so it wasn't bad. I wish they had recycling. Luckily we were right behind the store and they had an open trailer for cardboard. The grill and candy store were not open during the week. Putt-putt course is underwhelming and could use a refresher. Notes: Cabins don't have an outdoor water source. Raccoons will steal food (except onions and oranges) and trash your camp, but they're cure and will probably approach you or follow you into your cabin if they think you have food with you. Bring cash or coins for the Jukebox by the gift shop. Music is louder than you think. Refill a container for coffee for less than $2. By the dam there are some spots for natural rapids or slides for kids.

Went camping in late September. Most campsites are quite close to each other. But my 468th was a bit more separated. Got an armadillo and a cat visiting at night. The hiking up steep trails of Boldie next day was fun. And swimming after was very refreshing. Also no dances until the next summer I think.

Beautiful location in hill country. Rv sites are generous in size. Some 50 amp, some tent only. Very limited sewer at sites, use the few that a located through the park. Cabins and shelters available. Park is busy on weekends so plan ahead. River Frio is a border of the park and it is outstanding. Normally it is not deep. Part of the river is dammed allowing a cool spot under the cypress trees to enjoy a hot summer day. Hiking trails can be difficult with steep rocky climbs. Cycling off road is either easy or hard, nothing in between.

Our church takes a camping trip every October. We camp at Garner every other year. This October was warm enough to float in the river, but cool enough to need a blanket at night. The weather was perfect! Bathrooms were all working and clean, too. Since there was no dancing, we brought our own. Other campers joined, too. It was a blast.

one of my favorite place to hike and for outdoor activities like camping, night stay, kayaking and so more.... it is the one of the best national park in Texas and now it is the hot favorite thing to do in list of Texas. As I hadn't enough time to explore the one of trail out there , I just explored the river and camping area. it was an amazing nature area to stay night there. As We were walking along the river, enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings when a sudden rain shower added a magical touch to the scenery. It made our trip even more memorable with stunning weather moments. Highly recommend nature trail area for hiking and nature lovers to visit and I will take more days to spent more time to cover one of the long trail in next time

Travel date: 10/24/25-10/27/25 Weathered a storm one of the nights there and the park host made sure to drive up to it campsite the day before to warn us and to let us know we could take cover in the restrooms if it got extreme. The next day the river was full with crystal clear water. Overall the experience a great time! In this specific time that I went camping majority of the hiking trails were closed due to construction. They are currently fixing the road and the scenic overlook area which closes some of the entrances to some nice trails. Please check ahead of time if the construction is in progress or complete. I went with a group of ten people that wanted to hike but instead we went back to the campsite near the river which turned out to be a great time. Most of the campsite’s near the river usually have their own path directly to the river. We spent most of our time there which was great. Overall a safe, fun experience.

Happy Hollow Frio River Outfitters

Happy Hollow is a great place to start your float at the Frio river in Concan, Texas. Very friendly people with plenty of items in the store. Rates are reasonable. They will shuttle you to the departure point and you float back to the starting point at their store. It’s about a two hour float if you don’t stop.

Took our little one for a fun day on the river! All the employees were SO friendly and answered any questions we had, silly or not. Planning another trip to the Happiest spot on the Frio very soon!

In a drought ridden summer devoid of any long floating trips, Happy Hollow provides a happy remedy indeed. Cute, fun, family friendly place. This section of the Frio is spring fed and is not dry. A great place to float, sit in the river with friends, relax and play. Parking on both sides of Hwy 83. Convenience store, souvenirs, etc. There are vacation accommodations on site above river. Friendly, helpful staff. Price was about $15/person if just visiting to swim and float. (July 2022) Would definitely visit again!!

We had a great time! They were short staffed but still super friendly and helpful! $15 per person included a tube, $5 parking, $12 for cooler tube
Nahely G — Google review
The float itself was a blast! We were staying at a cabin nearby with river access. Before floating we asked one of the shuttle bus drivers for information about the float, fees, etc. and we're told no fees since we didn't need to shuttle or tubes. We were told to just float and enjoy. The river was flowing great and it was a great time until we got out at Crappy Hollow. We were treated like criminals and practically physically restrained by Hailey. Instead of explaining the fee, policy of exiting at Crappy Hollow, she was extremely rude and the whole experience was embarrassing and uncalled for. Just the way it was handled and tone was ridiculous. Needless to say, the float itself was awesome and the customer service was horrible. Will definitely go another route and skip Crappy Hollow altogether.

People are friendly and nice price is great, but the area to walk down to set up in the water isn't that great. I'm not sure if its cause the time of year(we went end if may) but the rocks were slippery and a very rocky area with deep water in between them. It wasn't that deep so you'd have to climb the rocks and down in the water to get to your desired area. I would be cautious with kids and clumsy people.

We have been here several times over the last 15 or so years. This place is always great, the people are always friendly. We had to do almost as much walking as we did floating, but we had fun as always.

(July 2022) after encountering a over occupancy state park we thought all was lost. I turn to google for answers. As i dove deeper into an answer parked outside said state park i stumbled upon a post about river access and $15 .HENCE began my experience with this amazing establishment. Not only did they have a very clean and well thought out layout but they are by far the most respectful and family orientated river outfitter staff i have ever encountered. Biggest perk is that they have rugged brand items at a non inflated price. I hate purchasing off brand items in other locations and the items only lasting me one trip. Over all the river access is what i wanted . I’m glad i didn’t go to the state park this year things happen for a reason. The best part of trips is the spontaneous change of plans that you have no idea where they will end. This spot is a must try and make sure to drop some money in the college fund. Thank you happy hollow for making another memory for my family possible

Great museum for learning our local history. There was a scavenger hunt for the kids and it kept them engaged in the artifacts.

Visited this small museum to in a whim and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I took my children, 11 and 6, and both enjoyed it. My oldest and me were intrigued with the rich history of two very prominent figures in the state of Texas. My youngest loved the information system videos and the historical articles that were present. This is a great stop if driving through the city of Uvalde, Tx. I was unaware that two very prominent figures in Texas politics lived in this small but amazing town. It is free, but do take donations, and can be completed quickly in about an hour. Im giving it 4 stars because we arrived a bit later in the day and didn't get to do the entire experience, it is a walk and read on your own.

Cool little museum tucked away in Uvalde. it's 2 stories and can easily be seen in about 1.5 hours. cool history and stories of both of these men who served in politics. beautiful period home in old town. worth a visit

I am so excited about my continued education theough my travels and stays throughout small Texas towns. I finally visited a favirote museum in this area. Austin you did fine work in perseving the leadership memoirs of a Uvalde resident and Vice- President of the U.S. I have to return to this fun museum to complete my "Scavenger Hunt" on John Nance Garner ("Cactus Jack Of Texas") and Dolph Brosvpe "Texas"!
